Typical Sacramento bar for typical Sacramento people. Nuff said.

Brian the manager is a nice guy & makes the place run smoothly. The drinks are resonably priced. I like the little rooms w/ TVs and seating. If it is not super busy (which it often is) it is a pretty cool place.

3.5 Not exactly a dive bar, although definitely a place with slut it up potenital. Not upscale, but you might find some suits there chillaxin. Not a sports bar, but they've got a good amount of flat screens to catch the game. Not a restaurant, but decent food with seated dining. Not a pool hall, but there are a few tables. Not a club, but a decent sound system and a dj booth. So WTF is this place????? Its a adult hang out!!! Alright not just a hang out, because they serve food, beer, hard alcohol, have pool tables, flat screen tvs, video games, xbox 360, and dark corners to make out in, if you want to slut it up. oh yeah and that's because the prices are decent and you might loose track of how many you threw down, mmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite places to watch Giants games. They always have great specials on beer and food during the games. Their Pepperoni Pizzetta and Hot wings make for a great game night dinner. Their R15 fries are delicious and so are their sandwiches, especially the ham and cheese with carmalized onions. The service is usually pretty good. My only complaint is that some of the barstools & tables are a little wobbly, who knows--maybe the floors are not level.

Been here quite a few times. Food is ok but the beer and ambiance is what makes this place fun. Very low key. Cheap beer; mixed drinks are more expensive. Bartenders are interactive and generally very attentive. Good place to chill with friends. Pool tables are always pretty crowded. The little private cubby hole loungey areas are just weird-- but they fit, somehow.

This is the second time I stopped by this place on a Saturday during the day (part of the bike bar crawl)...Nothing to write home about. The only drink special they had was $2 PBR but it was nice to sit with the bike gang out on the patio for a quick pit stop.

One of my go-to bars in Sac. I like the music videos on the screens, it's good entertainment when you are not that into the conversation that is going on. Prices are pretty decent and it's open late.

Really disappointed in this place. I came here last night with some friends and my friend got pretty drunk. but that is because they served her that much alcohol. The bouncer said she needed to leave, and she really needed water. She had a glass of water outside that she was drinking and they forced her to put it down and leave. I asked "can she finish her water next to you outside of the gate?" - " No, she needs to get out of here." "Can I grab her a to-go cup of water? I know that they have some since it's attached to Cafe Bernardo, and we will leave" "No she needs to get out of here now" . That is bad, and sleazy business. Girls be careful! I don't recommend this place for a ladies night. They will kick you out black out drunk and some regular meat-head (this place is always filled with dudes) can easily swoop you into a taxi.

Tuesday night happy hour is what brought me and my hubby in. I ordered a white lady and the bar tender didn't know how to make it so we told him and he made it perfectly! Delicious and refreshing. Great prices and great service!

The bartenders were awesome and the drinks were delicious! I loved this place and willl definitely be coming back soon. Everyone was really nice and we got our drinks really fast.

I come here with my coworkers often because it's the only place we can all seem to agree on. They have a decent selection of beer on tap, TVs everywhere, lots of indoor and outdoor seating, pool tables, intimate tv rooms, and of course, cafe bernardo. They also have, in my opinion, a decent happy hour and drink specials. The crowd varies here, and I kinda like it that way. Good location, because there is lots of parking around the block and when you get tired of R15 you can easily make your way to the many other businesses conveniently located on the same block.

I could not have had a worse experience. I went there to watch the Giants game figuring it was a large sports bar with tons of TV. The TVs were muted, the crowd was seedy at best (with a large pitbull roaming the rooom), the food lackluster, and the beer selection laughable. I went home thinking this was just another crappy bar... Then I checked the credit card that I had kept my tab open all night with. There were $300 of fradulent charges...$100 of which was at a chinese food place around the corner on 15th street. Normally I use my card a lot.....except I just came back that day from camping and had not used it in 5 days. I called the manager and explained the undeniable fraud. Instead of apology and promises of an internal investigation, my response was "Her [our waitress]? She's a sweetheart. I really doubt she would do something like that, but we'll talk to her." Notice no "I'm sorry" or " what can we do?" Unbelievable! Overall: Terrible beer selection+ seedy bar + bad sports ambience+CREDIT CARD FRAUD GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE!

I went here for a Yelp event and it was alright. They has a bartender competition and it wasn't as fun as you'd expect a yelp event to be. No one was really into it. Music was random. The MC was trying to be funny the whole night which made it worst. The drinks were really good though. $5 drinks or shots is a pretty good deal. The y served food and it was awesome. Totally made up for the lack of entertainment. The set up is pretty good. R15 isn't a huge place but for the space they have they arranged everything fairly nicely with two bars. Tables to eat or chill. Even have pool tables to play and kill some time with friends so that's kind of nice. They have an outdoor seating arrangement too which is awesome for those warm summer nights. Parking is a bit of a hassle because its downtown Sacramento. Also it's next to burgers and brew which makes it even harder to find parking. Employees like the bouncer and bartenders were all really chill. They just did their job and minded their own business which is what they're supposed to do but engaging in some conversation never hurt anyone.

Horrible service. Waited 15 mins till I had to go to the bar to wait another 15mins to place an order.spent $60 order pitcher of beer two salads soup a burger and fries. Fries were sold separately not as part of the Burger ( cheap move management) waited 53 for my food which was mediocre at best. got drinks right away ( cause I was at the bar) no one came to check on us or offer a refill on drinks nothing infact. I really didn't know they had staff. For waste Ur time or money

Decent drinks, food just OK. Set up is a little weird. Pool tables not working and sticks all just jacked up.

About 5 years ago, this was the spot to go. It somewhat still is, but at night it turns pretty ghetto. These days I strictly go for happy hour or anytime before 8pm. I love the pool tables, outside patio, and rooms with huge lcd screens. The best day to go is on TUESDAYS! Happy hour is from 3pm to close. $2 wells and $2 domestic draft beers. I had 5 drinks for $10, not bad at all!

  • Jesika J.

Cool place and good vibe. I like that they have the pool tables just kinda sucks waiting for one sometimes. The music videos they play on the screen can be weird but that is cause some artists now a days are strange. Good environment and pretty good food my only food complaint is the ranch sliders come with 3 and the odd number thing kinda sucks when you are sharing but the sliders are good and their cheese fries are good too.

My boyfriend and I went with some of his friends to R-15 on Sunday night, and I gotta say - I was not impressed at all. The front half is loud and dark, but with tables instead of a dance floor. It sort of felt like someone was having a house party and wanted to cover up the fact that their house was crappy and their guests were boring, so cranked the music and turned all the lights off. The back half of the bar was somewhat quieter and more brightly lit, was nothing but pool tables - which is great, if you're in the mood to play pool. However, if I wanted to do that, I'd go to the Mercantile, where the drinks are stronger and cheaper, or to Blue Cue, where the ambiance is better. The kitchen was closed, which is not terribly shocking for the time of night we went (midnight) but they could at least turn their menu around since it's just hanging on a chalkboard, and take the condiments off the table. There were a number of tables, but no servers on the floor, which again would not be surprising, but our table had not been bussed, and even though we waited a few minutes, there were no servers in sight. It was even difficult to get drinks at the bar. PLUS there was a fight that almost got violent, and while I suppose that could happen anywhere, it made me realize that the dress code sign out front listing items such as "no gang apparel" was there for a reason. The drink I had was pretty good, but aside from that, R15's only saving grace, in my opinion, was this little lounge area we found. We called it The Cave because it had a low ceiling. It had couches, tables, chairs a coffee table, and a side table. That little room was pretty cozy once we figured out we could turn off the TV in there and turn the track lighting on. I really don't want to be negative, and my experience was on a Sunday night, so perhaps it's not entirely fair to judge this place based on only one impression. I heard there will be no cover and $3 drinks all night long on New Year's Eve, and it IS attached to Bernardo's, so it should probably get points by association. I hear good things and about the happy hour, and the outdoor seating area seems cool I'll be going back for happy hour when the weather's better. Perhaps I'll change my rating at that time, but for now, I can only rate R15 based on my singular experience. It seems like the place is a bit schizophrenic - it's trying to be a dance club and a sit-down lounge place at the same time, and that just doesn't work.

So we went to midtown for Second Saturday celebrating my boyfriend's 21st Birthday last night and decided to check out R15 with some friends. First off, the security denied entrance to a few of our guys because they were apparently "sagging" (which they were barely.) Then the security guard told some of the guys that they can't get in because they were wearing hats. My other friend pointed at a guy inside their patio who was sagging and said,'"So you're not letting us in but you let that guy in?" who was sagging AND WEARING A HAT WITH A HOODY. The security said, "You're not getting in if you want to act smart." Haha, let us in? He already denied us, how you gonna let us in even when we weren't acting "smart" in the first place? A group of white girls and two black guys (no racial offense, just trying to make a point) walked up to the security while we moved aside and he let them in; the girls were dressed hot and the dudes were sagging. Okay okay brush it off brush it off. So we decided, it's all good, we'll just try to hit up another bar. As we walked towards the other bars, passing the patio, we saw hella guys sagging inside their patio. WOW. After a few minutes, we turned around and my friends tried to walk in again. They got in, lol. I was confused. So most of us got in until my boyfriend got to the security guard to show his ID; this as around 1am. He was denied because they said he has to wait 24 hours after turning 21 before he can actually get in. How stupid can this get? I was the only girl with our group of friends and damn was I getting pissed off at their ridiculous rules. I'm sure we aren't the only ones who hit up the bars at the strike of 12 and celebrate; didn't know there were those kind of rules. All in all, their reasons seem pretty illegitimate; so I grabbed my boyfriend and left. Never in my life have I experienced discrimination of any sort, seeing them letting in people who weren't dressed any better than my friends. AND WE'RE NOT FREAKIN GRIMY.

Went here for the first time with two of my girl friends. It was a weekday i believe we went, and I mean the atmosphere was cool, loved the music! but the bartender could have been nicer. The prices are pretty decent. All we ordered was the beer and shot seven dollar special which is really good because their shots are huge. so you get your money's worth. definitely. i may or may not go back here but its laid back, pretty dark inside. otherwise its worthy

  • Ryan L.

Best place to watch football games on Sunday. The crowd here is laid back. They have a lot of TVs all over the bar. Usually gets packed before noon so come early if you want a spot. Friendly people

  • Nichole V.

Love the open space of this bar! Its a comfortable environment. The pool area is separated and there is more then one pool table. Finally a bar with more then one pool table! They never have enough bartenders for busy nights. It's street parking and that's always a pain especially in the area this bar is in (next to Shady Lady, etc). They had a great pub crawl on St. Patricks Day!

This bar is ALRIGHT... parking isn't too bad which is nice but the service here is pretty mediocre. This would be our last resort, all bars have run dry place to go to! You get your normal tough acting security/bouncers and snobby bartenders. However in this case, I can share with my fellow Yelpers about my recent experience here. We came here on a typical Saturday night, it was filled but not too packed. Got a seat right in front of the bar and ordered up coronas for everyone and shots as well. We ordered LC's (Liquid Cocaine) and our bartender was an older woman... she didn't say much to us just quickly made us our drinks and told us how much we owed her. Kind of slammed down the glasses, which should've been the red-flag. One of our other friends ordered us a round of the same shots at the same time, instead through a younger bartender. The shots she poured were a little more than DOUBLE the ones we got. That made me question it cause our check was $36.... for four shots. I then asked our "older" bartender how come our shots are only half of these.... she quickly responds "Well I poured it correctly, she over poured... nothing I can do about it" And walks off... "She then comes back and says you're a dollar short" As we recount it for her, she looks puzzled and pissed at the same time and was like "Did you guys still want to order" This time it was our turn to walk away... ****Attention everyone, this is what you can expect from snobby bartenders****** All in all, this is an okay place to hang out. Doesn't have much to offer. No Live Music No DJ No Dancefloor They do have a decent bar and patio I've haven't played in the Pool Room yet but.... ehh don't care for it

I've been here a handful of times. This bar is humdrum. It doesn't really distinguish itself as a unique drinking spot at all. It definitely has a 'club' feel to it, and that seems to be a douche magnet for some reason. On some nights it's too loud to hold conversations. That being said, I've never emptied out my pockets ordering drinks here, so that's a plus. Also, I dig the free pool on Monday nights. At best, it's a decent place to start out a night of drinking.

  • Kamni G.

R15 is in the middle of downtown and its one of the nicer places one could be. It was crowded when we went and very loud but hey thats a bar right??! The pool tables, flat screens are nice. Service was quick and drinks are not overpriced.I went back after this with other friends :)

    (4)
  • Katie H.

R15 has become one of my favored (not exactly favorite) spots to hang out on the weekends... It's a great place to be if you're just looking to hang out...not necessarily to get wasted or go out dancing. But for hanging out, I feel like R15 is the place to go. The drink prices are reasonable, there's a fair selection of beers on tap, and the decor + pool tables create a nice ambiance. The layout of the bar is a little hard to navigate at times and the service isn't great on busy nights, but that's to be expected. The location's good, there's fun stuff nearby, and the crowd is pretty varied. It's not my favorite bar of all time, but as I find myself there several times per month, the perks definitely outweigh the negatives!

Cheap drinks. Sketchy guys and skanky girls galore. Snotty bartenders. Meh...

So I drank waayyy too much on a Friday night and left a jacket and umbrella there, I go back the next day a little humbled and they had my stuff and were very cool about it. Very cool cute bartender. I found out they had all the football games and beer specials so I wanted to go back on a sunday and give them my business. That is where the compliment ends. We showed up for a 1 pm game and I was in a burger mood. But, they dont serve burgers until 3 on sundays. Who there @#$# does that? We got up and left. How you dont serve lunch items until 3 is beyond me. If I ever go back, it will only be to drink, I wont go there hungry. 5 stars for customer service, zero stars for a poorly run kitchen

  • Pia V.

I must say that I really love this bar. You never have to wait too long for a drink. There is rarely a line and when there is it goes by within 5 minutes. No dress code or cover. Also the inside is huge with a large smoking patio, pool tables, and rooms that are first come first serve (and no charge either). You can even check-out a video game system and video games with your ID to play inside the rooms -- the rooms are equipped with HUGE (~42+ inches) plasma tvs. Although I have never been here early enough to see it as a restaurant, I know I will one day. And when I do I will update my review. ;) (Oh, and fyi -- this is more of a chill bar scene. Not much/any dancing occurs in this bar.)

  • Lionel D.

Its an ok place. Don't come here on weekend nights - the male to female ratio is exorbitant. But it is a great place on a weekday - its not packed, you can actually play a game of pool without feeling like your getting stabbed and their happy hour is good too.

  • James K.

Great place for NFL game day! I try to get to Sac a couple times a year and make a point of catching the Niners game here. Atmosphere is great. Crowd is electric. Loud as hell... Add the R15 to your gameday rotation!

  • Priscilla V.

I love the fact it's next to Cafe Bernardo, but this place is always packed, so it's hard to find seats.

  • Hong T.

Decided to stop by here for a quick drink before heading to burgers and brew for a bite to eat. The patio was packed and it was hard fighting through the crowd to get to the front door. Every seat at the bar was taken and there was a second layer of people just standing around the bar. So after wedging my way inbetween the bar seats and the crowd of bystanders I finally made it to the bar. It took about 10 minutes before I was even ackowledged by a bartender, but lucky for me the area I was waiting in smelled like old vomit so it wasn't a wasted experience as I waited to order my drink. There are plenty of seats but my problem was the place seemed to be filled with large groups of people that were just standing around, seemed like people were there more to be seen rather than to have a drink. After finishing our drinks we decided one drink here was enough, next time I will probably just skip this place for something more laid back.

This place sucks full of douches unfriendly staff unless you're a regular there. There are way better bars a few min walking distance from this bro spot.thumbs down will never spend my money there. And suggest you not to as well

Maybe I am just not a Sacramento kinda people, because every place Ive been to there is wack! Lets just call this Bar R15 in WACKramento...Not my thing. Ive never seen so many hot mess people walking around in my life. People were WASTED! A couple was holding each other up and throwing up on their own shoes...WTF honestly though...Thinking to myself, How did they even get wasted? You have to wait 45 minutes for a drink. I just dont get this place. There was not one thing about it that wow'd me. A bunch of college kids who try to act like they can get down with the get down and then throw up after they cant...Meeeeh, Im good.

BE WARNED My friends and I had some drinks and food here, everything was good... no problems... the bill came, no problems.... we split it 3 ways by credit card. Waitress came to pick up our bill, came back a few minutes later with a larger bill....??? She said that because we were paying by credit card, we had to pay an extra tax on the alcohol. What? Apparently the owners will pay your alcohol tax if you pay with cash, but not card. Pretty sure this is illegal. It was about $4.50 extra- not a big deal- but extremely shady. Then, we re-split our now higher bill by card, and the waitress charged the entire amount to my card. When I brought it over to her, she said, "oh no, I just put the rest on your card"............ so I politely said, "no, you charged over a hundred dollars to my card"................... meanwhile, the bartender was eavesdropping and giving me dirty looks the whole time!!! as if I was being a bitch because I pointed out that SHE overcharged my card by 75 bucks! She supposedly fixed it, but I will be keeping a close eye on my bank account. We won't be going back. Charging more, after the fact, for alcohol if you pay by credit card is extremely shady and bad business.

Really quite fun at night, doesn't get overly crowded. They do have a restaurant attached and you can order some bar food as well. Fun place to hang out at. They have pool tables, large screen TVs and I even think you can play video games.

  • Brandon H.

I've only been here a handful of times, once for Halloween (which randomly saved that night) and for breakfast, not in the same time span btw. Yelp confessions. But I find nothing to complain about here. It is kind've small but it's a chill enough place to have a chill time. Kind've dive-bar'ish w/ a horse shoe bar counter encompassing the potions and dj with a few lounge tables around but it works. Try their breakfast sandwich as well it's tasty and a good filler.

Nice bar but drinks are pricey, but all drinks downtown are more pricey then other bars in Folsom, Roseville, ect.

  • Marlisa K.

It's fine as far as a bar goes... stand at the bar, order drinks, find a place to sit. No prob! Do not order appetizers/food. The cocktail waitress who has been there the last two times we went, clearly hates her job, hates customers, and does not want to be there. The first time she refused to help us because we didn't open a tab with her, we opened a tab at the bar because it took her forever to acknowledge us. The 2nd time they mixed up our order after ordering it through the bar... I must say again... for a bar, it's fine. Just do not take advantage of the fact that you can grab a bite while watching a game. Not a good idea. It seems like they make their jobs harder than they need to be.

  • Kirsten D.

I came here with a few girlfriends to have a drink. The bartender was very nice and remembered my name AND drink. I love the outside patio and the red lighting/industrial atmosphere are pretty cool. The crowd is usually pretty mixed and chill. The food is great as well. They have pool tables in a room near the bar (not sure of the pricing on a game of pool). I'll be back again for sure.

I love this bar. It's cheap, the staff is friendly, and there's good food within walking distance (right next door & behind to be exact). Their nightly specials & happy hours are great, although not really even needed with their cheap drink prices. This is one of my favorite "first stops" on a night out.

    (4)
  • Rafael L.

Not a bad place to grab a few drinks and appetizers. Not bad to catch a few innings of a baseball game or a quarter or two of a football game. They have some pretty good sliders and good selection of beers.

    (3)
  • Valerie C.

Honestly, anything with a free cover has SOME appeal to me. Of course, beyond the front door it also has to do a little work to be deserving of any more credit... R15 gains one star for the free admission and two more for having a good selection of beers on draft.

    (3)
  • Lea D.

Decent beer selection. Newcastle both on tap was especially delicious on a hot Sacramento night. Interior is ok, nothing special. The crowd at 9:30 on a Monday night was pretty sparse and an odd assortment. College aged guys were just showing up, older folks eating/drinking at the bar. I can see this as a more fun night spot when the crowd shows up. Plenty of space, tvs and pool tables.

Cool bar and a great location. The VIP booths are sweet. Would of never been to this place if yelp didn't throw an awesome shindig.

Love weekend brunch with bottomless mimosas - can't beat it! The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. One of my favorite ways to start a Saturday. Oh and can't wait for football season, one of the best places to watch a game and get great grub (and drinks too of course!).

I attended the bartenders olympics last night and I had a really good time. It was amazing how the bartenders could make all of those different drinks and make them taste sooo good. I really enjoyed the Jalapeno Stollies Vodca that I had to drink in my Bloody Mary. It was simply delicious, yum, yum, yum!!!!

I've been here a few times for bar review, as well as just going to see what it was like when it wasn't flooded with 1L's. Just for drinks mind you, so I can't talk about the food. Drink prices were pretty good, and the Bartenders were cool (at least to me). They at least know how to work their lines as opposed to some other places I've been to, so that automatically gets it 4 stars for me. To bid your time between drinks, there are a plethora of pool tables, and lots of private, cubby like tables to have a secluded spot (or get table service). I've been able to get out of here for less than $25 for 5 drinks (a few beers and a couple above-well cocktails plus a good tip). All in all I like the place. It's a bit of a walk from my place in midtown, but oh well. Parking is a little bit of a hassle around here, but such is life in midtown, so get your quarters ready or learn to find parallel park and walk.

I spend more time here than I'd like to admit, but I live half a block away, so sue me. R15 is just a bar, there's really nothing special about it, but I find myself there at least once a week. The bar is located on the corner of R & 15th, thus the name. They've got four pool tables and about two decent pool cues that are in decent condition, which limits its viability as a local pool hall. Every Monday around 9pm, they rig the tables so you can play for free, which is one reason why I'd go with my SCC friends after our evening classes. Next to the pool tables they have two little rooms with couches where you can watch the TV and enjoy moderate privacy as you enjoy your drinks. I've been there to watch the Olympics, the presidential elections, and various NBA games when I didn't have cable. The prices are still fairly reasonable and I usually get myself a pitcher of PBR for $8 and drink it straight from the pitcher. All in all, this is my local haunt, when I'm not looking for a bookie at the Monte, or looking to belt out a few songs at the Distillery. On the weekends, however, the place tends to be overrun by douchebags and hooched out girls who are looking to be seen. Being from LA, I'm not going to complain because I'm used to that kind of scene, but it can get pretty crowded. Although they serve food from the bar and from Cafe Bernardo's, which shares the same building, I've never received any grief from bringing in outside food. This is pretty handy since Burgers 'n Brew is next door and they serve food until 1am. R15 is a solid bar and prices are about what you'd expect from a Sacramento bar that isn't divey like Monte, or Flame Club. If you're a smoker, they've got ample outdoor seating, where you can people watch as people walk to the other neighboring establishments (i.e. the now defunct Empire Club). If you're looking for a decent bar where you can watch a game, they've got over ten tv screens, on which you can view the latest sports game and they even have some xbox 360s, which you can play, though their game selection is mediocre Bottom Line: If you want to get drunk and be surrounded by attractive people, without having to dance, R15 is a solid establishment..

Nothing really too special in terms of going out for a night. General "let's go out and grab a quick drink" spot. It's been so long since I've been to a bar like this, I damn near forgot about the college-town type drinks people love to order. My drinks were good. I laughed pretty hard when I ordered a brain hemorrhage as the bartender (megan?) rattled off the ingredients and popped an inquisitive look on her face as she said, "Man, I haven't made one of those in like 10 years." Only downside to the drinks (not including the brews) are that they come a little smaller than I'm used to. I remember being actually able to drink my kamikazes rather than being able to down the whole thing in one gulp. Still good, though. Perfect combo - R Bar to build a quick buzz, then shoot over to burgers and brew for some grub

Sure there are bars with better, cheaper drinks but I don't know. For some reason I always like coming here. I've made the mistake of ordering mixed drinks which are overpriced, weak and usually not properly made (hint: an old fashioned isn't just whisky on the rocks with a few cherries), but I like the vibe, the pool tables and the food. I especially like the little open semi-private rooms with TVs so you can watch whatever game or fight is on. It's great when you're in a group and you want to be part of the madness without being PART of the madness. Also great is the disappointed looks on peoples faces who look in on you, envious that you've snagged a room.

Pros and cons of sharing space with Cafe Bernardo's are as follows: Pros: great food, great food, and great food. Cons: R15 won't make your drink if you ordered it from Cafe Bernardo side. I waited 10 minutes for my drink (CB) fault apparently. I went to 3 different sides of the r15 bar to try to get the bartenders attention as she intentionally ignored me. I find out later that CB employees have an area where they make drinks for their customers. That being said, the R15 bartender noticed we already had our food and realised she probably wansnt going to get anything out of it and chose not to help us at all. Paragarys should seal up the openings whether they own it or not.

Still my GO TO spot to meet up with friends before we take over midtown... or just to grab a beer if I'm passing through town. Theo the bartender is one of the most down to earth chill bartenders that loves his job, tip him well. It's now facing more competition with new spots opening up across the street, but I still love the simple seating arrangement here along with the pool tables with private rooms if you like shooting pool and having meaningful conversations with a hot date, your wife, or whomever. In reality I hope all the bars restaurants in this area compliment each other rather than beat each other up in revenue. R15 is still and will always be my pregame spot as the scene changes in midtown.

Went here Labor Day Monday before going to Shady Lady. Had some appetizers (not impressed) and a couple of rounds of drinks. Bartender (guy) was great! Very nice and personable. My brother and I buy another round and go outside to smoke a cigar. We ask the bartender if we could sit at the tables instead of the tall tables with bar stools which were directly in the 100+ degrees and he said yes. We didn't tell him we were about to smoke cigars, but think we needed to since others were smoking cigarettes. All of a sudden a woman (manager???) comes out and tells us we can move to the tall tables which she acknowledged were directly in the blazing sun, but the smoke was going inside. She indicated the cigars "were not allowed", but she'd let us smoke at the tall tables . No sign posted that cigars aren't allowed. Never heard of that rule, but cigarettes are allowed??? We had only taken a couple sips of our great drink when we fired up our premium cigars. No way we were going to ruin them by putting them out. Instead, we got a refund for our drinks and took our wonderful stogies to Shady Lady where we were welcomed with opens arms!

Café Bernardo's is by far my favorite family run chain in downtown Sacramento, and R 15 is my favorite location! There are a number of reasons to love Café Bernardo's R15: *Menu is the same at all location but this bar has an additional bar eats and Happy Hour menu after 3:00 pm *The staff is great, especially my gal: Claire. She works earlier in the week dealing with the lunch crowds. She remembers my drink and food orders (rarely ever order anything other than the Mushroom Jarlsberg Cheese Salad and the Kale Caesar Salad). *This location is more of a sports bar so there are a number of TVs surround the bar and pool tables in the back. *Nice patio to sit and people watch. Overall a great spot to have lunch, bar hop, watch the game or play pool. The perks of it being a Café Bernardo helps because the food comes from the connected Café.

R15 has a good atmosphere that'll keep me coming back. The atmosphere has a good vibe and I love the fact they have TV screens to watch sports. I wish they had a more solid craft beer selection as I believe that would be wise as the other places embrace the craft beer scene more. Overall, not bad for a nightly outing.

Love the happy hour here...the pool table section it's nice to Just grab a drink with a friend or a group and play pool table to hang out. Nice bartenders who always make the drinks really good.

R15 is a nice spot to watch a game and grab a cold one. As they share the large space with Cafe Bernardo, there's also a full food menu from which to order. I like to come here during my 20 minute lightrail layover, which is the perfect amount of time to drink a beer and kick back on the front patio. There are pool tables, too, where my friend Lauren always kicks my butt. Solid bar staff and the regulars seem to be fairly normal folks.

Yeah...... I liked this place before, but they are losing it.... 1:40 and they won't serve us a drink. Eve and I both swear he just called last call, went to grab a drink and they claim to have called "last call", but we are sitting right here.... I'm not deaf.... The people sitting at the bar next to me don't seem to be deaf.... Yeah.... Another lame sac bar that stops serving at like 1:30.... But hey, at least they fixed their broke dick padding on the bar. Anyhow.... Lame.... Tired of these places in this town. Good for a cocktail early in the night, but don't plan on closing the place down, your night will be over way too early with non warning. Even the bartender said "I would make you another round if he wasn't standing right here". Oh wait.... It's now 1:50, and this place claims to close at 2, yet we are being yelled at that we "have to go". so much for this place. Plenty of places in town where the people that run them aren't complete dicks. Try the pine cove, it rocks!!!!

This review is for R15, not the cafe it shares it's space with. It was just ok, nothing to make the place stand out. We asked the bartender what he recommended as a drink or his specialty, and he just told us he'd make us whatever we wanted. Ah ok, so I guess I'll just have a beer (you missed an upsell here, buddy). We sat at the bar and we saw him once, the place was really dead in the bar area. There were a few games of pool happening in the other space but that was about it. I'm trying to remember something specific, but it just wasn't a place that stands out from any other bar.

R15 is a cool place to meet up with everyone, even to play pool. Friendly bartenders and good service. It's been a while since I been here because the last time they didn't let my boyfriend come in because of his shoes, but we saw guys with Jordan's sitting in the patio area. So I was completely turned off by this place. So when I finally came back it was a totally different experience. Good place to catch a game,(lots of TVs) meet for happy hour, and found out they have free pool after 7pm on Mondays so I wanna come check it out. The bartender were friendly and pricing was not that bad.

Service was ehhh.We ordered food and it took almost 25 minutes to get to our table. When we got our food, the waiter forgot to bring us some napkins, utensils, and plates. Had to go up to the bartender and ask for some Food was good though and drinks were OK. Wouldn't go here on a Friday afternoon as it gets pretty packed.

This place has always been my go-to bar! I've been coming here since I could remember! Great for watching big games with all the tv's they have and they even have four pool tables! I'm always running into old friends at this place. I love trying out new bars but always end up back at r15! :)

Beer, food, pool, TVs.... R15 has the makings of a solid bar, but just falls short. It seems that the owner or manager just doesn't want to put the extra effort and money into the finishing touches. Needs improvement: - The beer selection is small and boring. Sierra Nevada, Widmer Hef, Guinness... zzzzzzzz - Pool equipment is dive bar quality. - Bad and unflattering lighting - Either play some great music or turn the TV volume on so we can hear the game! - Tables and chairs in the pool area are rickety and sad looking. Me likey: - Decent food options! - Awesome patio out front - Four pool tables! Yay! - Cool nooks with couches and TVs to comfortably watch a game with a few friends R15 is an good place to come play some pool or relax with a drink on the patio. Not excellent, but good enough.

First time visit at R15 and no complaints coming my way. Music was loud, people were friendly and I didn't have a long wait for a pool table. Plus+ did I mention the drinks were lovely and bar fries delicious... BOOM!! My kind of location.

Cool neighborhood bar spot. Pool tables, private seating areas, many tvs (sports!), outdoor patio with high stools and lounge chairs. Casual and chill atmosphere, average beverage prices, but the kitchen closes too early, just when you get a drink down, start feeling comfy, and want some greasy bar food... Closed :( Friendly staff, even security!, but I'm not a buffed out, beefy, intimidating (to the insecure) male so... wear a dress and some lip gloss.

Fuck this place. Bouncers are weird homophobes who kick people out for no reason. Watched them kick a guy out for being gay and they kicked my friend and I out for saying the word gay. These guys should be working at forever 21 not the bar

Really? That's what the bartender said when I asked if he could make a special shot for all my friends. "Really?" Yes, really. My special drink didn't have enough sexual terms in it I guess. Ride the wave of brand-obedient sales associates and sports medicine majors, R15! It will hit the shore soon and you will be over. Really.

Have visited this bar at least a dozen of times throughout every season of the year. Never have been disappointed here. The service is always fast and friendly and the drinks are usually cheap. Stopped by here this afternoon to catch a few minutes of a preseason football game and enjoy a round of drinks with a friend. The waitress was very sweet and checked in with us multiple times promptly. Decent bar snacks but they are slightly pricey. Stop by here anytime for inexpensive cocktails and sports games or a round of pool.

This is a go-to hang out spot for our Xoso Kickball team. They offer us happy hour prices when we show up in our uniforms which is pretty awesome. So we get pitchers of PBR and mediocre bar food for a really low price. The service is great and we always have a large table to accommodate our whole team where we can bask in the glory of our win. Not sure if we would go there on non-game days, but for a Tuesday night outing it does the job. (Definitely helps that the Cafe Bernardo menu is available - can't go wrong with the thai noodle salad!)

Eh. This is a college bar masquerading as a club pretending to be interesting. The drinks and service were awesome, but the atmosphere made me wish I had my headbands, wife beaters or FUBU. Really didn't enjoy it and won't be returning.

This is a fun little place right by work for a bit of a happy hour, which goes from 3 - 6, Monday through Friday. I went with a few coworkers around 4:45 on Friday last week and there was ample seating. I like that they have table-service during HH because sometimes it can be a pain to have to go up to the bar to order food. I ordered the Jack Palmer (Arnold Palmer but with Jack Daniel's Honey!) and it was pretty tasty. Very dangerous, that's for sure. For food we got: - R15 Fries: covered in bacon, scallions, sour cream. They were okay. Nothing special but satisfied my potato craving. - Achiote Chicken Tacos: tasty, but way overfull. They were hard to pick up, and the chicken was dry, but it had good flavor. - Sliders: I didn't try these but one coworker loved them enough that another coworker ordered them. - Quesadilla: chicken, corn, etc. It was alright. Nothing special. For a near-by happy hour with people who enjoy drinking liquor (my coworkers do, I prefer beer, especially at B&B next door), it was a decent place to stop. Decent prices too, if you stay on the HH menu.

I've yet to have a bad experience at R15. It's the go-to XOSO bar, and every XOSO or otherwise night, you can get cheap and surprisingly tasty pizzas, fries concoctions and other tasty treats. Standard well drinks and beers, watch some baseball, play some pool, or chat outside on the patio. One feature I REALLY like is the little booth-nooks in the pool area. There are 3 tiny low-ceiling rooms with TVS, and it's kind of like having your own personal bar without the cost, reservations, or being fully closed off from external socializing. Nothing else really stands out about it, just your average semi-divey casual bar.

Used to love this place, but I went in on a Sunday and waited over an hour to get service. My waitress seated her friends and the table next to us. They got their drinks, food orders, food and were halfway through their meal when we finally went to the bad to get our drink orders. Arrogant waitstaff.

R15 Bar is a fun place for a night out. There's pool tables and several small rooms hidden off to the side with its own couches and tvs. It's kinda like having your own table at a club, except you're at a bar...surrounding a handful of pool tables instead of a dance floor...in Sacramento. I would give this place 4 stars, except the drinks are pretty pricey. The 6 shots we ordered came with a $50 price tag. Do that math. That's over $8/drink, and we ain't in Vegas! Parking is free in the private lot across the street.

I've been going to R15 on a weekly basis for over a year. It's sad to say I'll never be back... The overall state of R15 has deteriorated from the inside out since I started going in late 2012. I'll go over everything that myself and regular customers have noticed. Many of us are done and moving to other bars in the area. R15 has a lot of competition on the horizon coming to R street so they either need to change or shut their doors. Customers will make this happen regardless. Pool Tables: The Pool tables have disintegrated into unusable money pits. The sticks are bent and cheap. The tables themselves are completely unbalanced and unplayable. Prices are ridiculous: Did you know the owners think it's OK to charge MORE for EVERY drink when the have a stupid "DJ" "Playing" on the weekends? I think I've seen 3 price increases since I started going and I've had enough. I can get a better drink at a better value at other bars within walking distance. The Vibe: This bar needs a makeover. Bad. Since the pool tables are just unusable scam machines and the bars clientele has begun to attract low class people, the vibe is awful. Luckily they have a "DJ" to play top 40 garbage that we as customers get to pay for via EXTRA MONEY for every drink. This is reason enough to just walk to somewhere better. The food: Want a cheeseburger? OK great! But keep in mind it doesn't come with fries. It's also more expensive than other places in the area. What burger place doesn't include a side of some sort? The brainless owners don't realize there is a very popular burger (and beer) joint literally half a block away. I'd never even consider eating here since I could throw a rock and hit 3 better options (at better prices). I used to love it here but the greediness of the owners have and will continue to drive away loyal customers. Sure they'll get business, but word travels fast. I will do my part of telling every single person around R street to stay the hell away from this place. The greed, the poor quality of bar and every growing prices have driven myself any many others away. The only saving grace for this dump is the awesome bartenders, who I'll walk in, say "Hi" to and not buy a drink. I'm done.

Would I go back again? Not sure. Here's why... 1. Slow service. Several girlfriends and I sat/stood at the bar waiting for a drink for 15+ minutes. Had I not been there with a group for a celebration, I would've rallied the troops and left. Because this happened almost each time we went to order a drink or food. I will say, the bartenders were nice when they got to us, but that place was pretty busy and two bartenders with no bar backs is not a good idea. I also wish they had servers for the long bar tables. 2. Happy hour ended at 6pm on a Friday. After a long workweek, a happy hour that ends at 6pm sucks, especially when you get off work at 5pm and spend 1/2 an hour looking for parking. But I couldn't complain because we should've looked that up beforehand. We could've gone to the many places with longer happy hour's. Our bad. 3. Misinformation. I was told happy hour food and drinks were over at 6pm, but kept seeing people order food off the happy hour menu well past that. Their regular menu doesn't have munchies and apps so I knew those foods were from the HH menu (especially since they were also written on a chalkboard). Why did some folks get to order from the HH menu, but not others? Weird. I don't like wondering why. It's annoying. I did like the ambience, patio seating, lots of TVs, they finally put music on around 8pm, and the 25-40 yo old crowd R15 attracted was pretty chill. But with so many awesome spots in downtown/midtown Sacramento to check out, I don't know if I'd choose to go back again - necessarily.

SITREP A nice bar in downtown Sacramento for a quick drink. I went here for the first time when fellow Yelper Brad H. was leaving for Arizona and having a going away shidig here. SETUP On the R Street block between 14th & 15th Street, this bar is conveniently located near light-rail. A full-service bar that gets you all the great drinks - both mixed and beers - at a nice happy hour price. YELP OLYMPICS This was also a great location when later the Yelp Olympics were hosted here on Night #1. The excitement of the night was never better and the drinks were never more tasty. THE LOWDOWN Great for a quick drink.

Love this place. Good ambiance, good for groups, has private areas with tv's for seating, full bar, separate area for quieter brunch next door, but you can order from next doors menu at r15. Place is clean and has outdoor seating as well. In general I've always had a great time here. I've never seen it too overcrowded either!

Whenever my boyfriend and I are up for a game of pool in a hip place we head to R15. Aside from never forgetting where it is, the entire block is full of other fun establishments that make for a nice evening of bar/food hopping without having to go too far. R15 has friendly bouncers and bartenders who have never been rude towards me in any way and they tend to have a heavy hand too! My favorite part of R15 though, is the pool room. Off to the side of the four pool tables ( which are a little too close for comfort sometimes though....) are two chic rooms with a large flatscreen and some couches. Two private little lounges for you and your friends, and they are generally free for use - perfect for sports fans! Nestled above the personal lounge rooms is a skybox - which I have never been up to, but looks very fun for a rented party, nonetheless. All in all, a def fave.

This bar has a really chill atmosphere. I have never had any trouble getting a glass of water from the bartender when I'm the only one not drinking, which I really appreciate. When things are slow, the bartender has also been totally down to take pictures for my friends and I. The people here are all so laid back that you just kind of feel like you could talk to and make friends with anyone. It's definitely not a click-y place. I love that the ambiance is a little different from anywhere else. The main room is where people tend to sit and watch sports, and then there are a few connecting rooms with pool tables and cut-out squares with couches for a more private setting. They have great deals for happy hour, like a burger and beer for $10 before 9pm on weeknights. Of course there is also Cafe Bernardo attached to the back of the bar. The only thing I didn't like was that the bathroom needs quite a bit of work. I never noticed this while drunk... but when sober I noticed that the toilet is almost dangerously wobbly, and the left water faucet has a leak that will get your shirt wet every time you try to wash your hands (so stick to the right side for now). Other than that, everything was clean and put together.

This place has been sucking lately....idk if there is a new night manager or what. But I got a really rude bartender last night and she made my drink which was wrong, I know it was Halloween so I didn't say anything because they were busy but the serVice has been bad for a few weeks now. I'm a regular at this bar, but im thinking of going elsewhere. They need to work on customer serVice badly I would be pissed if I owned this bar.

No stars!!!!!!!!! This was one of the most absolute worst bars I've been to in a long time!! Horrible service! The 2 guys that were working were rude and it felt like it was an Inconvenience for is to be there. And the prices are ridiculous!!! 7 bucks for a shot of fireball ?!? And the shot wasn't even full... Asked for a menu and it was like I asked him to do something that he wasn't able to do. rude rude rude!!!!!!!!! Never again will we come here. They are the reason I signed up for YELP just to say how bad they sucked!!!!

Nicole, sorry for sitting a table you were serving. In my experience in a full bar when a table becomes available is common to grab a table once it opens up. If gone this bat at least a 4 until today. My experience tonight was the worst I've had since my last review. I pledge today to start writing all the positive experiences I've had elsewhere, like shady lady, that's is where i should have gone tonight. 5 stars for not being Nicole.

I want to give this place ZERO stars. We had the worst server ever. Nicole was extremely rude and condescending. She had the worst attitude and had the audacity to give me lip service. • Jorgess M.

This place isn't bad except when it is busy to the max. When they get busy, it is insanely hard to get through anyone and it takes forever to get drinks. The hardest part is trying to get your drinks and finding your friends without people knocking over half of it. However, when it isn't crackin' yet, it is very spacious inside; tables on the right side of the bar and pool tables on the left side. The crowd and the bartenders aren't too friendly, but then again it seems like it depends on what nights you go; it's a hit or miss. The drinks here are incredibly strong. I remember I had a long island iced tea and I had a great buzz from that for a good while, but it was really good =) Their jack and coke is pretty darn strong too, but still great. Hah! It's a pretty chill environment and they play good music too, which is why I come back.

I really prefer giving good reviews, especially for establishments that I have liked... unfortunately, it only takes one bad experience to lose a customer for life. If I could give zero stars on this review, I would. R15, I will miss the good times, but I think it's best we part ways. First off, I've always really liked this place. Sure, the drinks can be a little watered down during happy hour. Sure, it's a little dirty. Sure, the pool tables typically have some malfunctions. Sure, the staff isn't exactly friendly. BUT - I love the location and it's easy to overlook those things for a couple cheap drinks. Unfortunately, I never actually read any of the reviews before coming here. I gave my review based on my experience, saw that they were pushing 4-5 stars and figured, hey, it's okay... for a $3 drink. (Granted, they used to be only $2, but that's a whole other review that I'm not really going to focus on given the nature of this review.) After my last experience here I decided to read some of my fellow yelpers experiences. Sounds like mine wasn't out of the ordinary. Several other reviews advised that dark skinned guys with light skinned girls tend to be scrutinized by the security... asked to adjust their clothing or just plain not let into the bar. Mind you, most, if not all of these reviews expressed the nature of race regarding their experiences. Soo... the other night, after attending a super fun yelp event at Pre-Flite, my sister and I decided to come down here and grab a couple of drinks. It was a Saturday and it was still early. My boyfriend decided to meet us there. Well, he arrived before us and was greeted by the bouncer who immediately told him to pull up his pants and tighten his belt... umm... really? Lol... okay. Then my sister and I showed up, talked with him on the patio and then decided to go inside. The security said we could not go in because he saw my sister holding a flask. Umm... are you serious? She offered to go put her (miniature pink sparkly tin case) in her car to which he says, "It doesn't matter, I saw you with it, you can't come in." Apparently, if your party has a mix of races, you will not be allowed into this establishment when "Bubba" is the bouncer. We asked for his actual name so that we could include it in our complaint, but he refused and just said that everyone knows him by "Bubba". Wow... I really didn't even know how to respond or what to say considering I have always been a regular at this place. Granted, I typically come during the week and typically during happy hour. This was my first introduction to Bubba the Bouncer. Sadly, I believe that it will also be my last. Unfortunately, this isn't the first establishment in Sacramento that I have run into this type of race related profiling with regard to allowing patrons in. Fortunately, the last blatant establishment - Lounge ON20 - closed down. Based on several other reviews I've read now about R15, they are headed down the same path. If it wasn't for the location and the cheap drinks, I don't think this place with still be open. My suggestion to the owners - be aware of your bouncers and who/why/how they turn people away. Very disappointing, to say the least. I guess it's just Burgers and Brew and Shady Lady the next time I'm in that area of town!

Came here to watch the game and order some food. We ordered the burger, chicken tacos and chicken wings. The chicken tacos were okay tasting... The burger was actually really good and the wings were spot on the way I like it! We ordered them dry with the sauce on the side. The service was great. Fun place to eat and watch some sports!

Pretty nifty bar scene...R15 has everything you need to get a little tipsy and enjoy yourself. They've got 4 pool tables in the back with a flat screen tv playing sports which was awesome. They also do table service in case you need to order a few bites and snacks. I actually came by to visit wifey and her co-workers at R15. I got here super hungry and looking for a menu. I ended up ordering some hot wings and a chicken quesadilla. The food was nothing spectacular but it did the job. I saw some people eating pizza and that looked mighty good. The drinks were semi-strong. I picked up a vodka and soda which got me a little pink in the face. Parking is doable. Just look around the neighboring areas and you'll find something. 3 stars.

Just had drinks here with some friends. They have great deals! Seriously, look into it. Though I didn't try the food, I would recommend this place. The DJ set up a beautiful vibe to just chill and socialize. I will be coming back.

A concept among late night establishments in Sacramento is to neighbor with other business that would compliment their clientele. R15 is next door to Cafe Bernardo (they are actually connected) as well as Burgers and Brew and Ace of Spades. All of the aforementioned establishments are popular and attract similar customers. I absolutely love anytime I can eat, drink, and lounge all without walking or having to drive to multiple spots. R15 is casual and gives a similar vibe to BlueCue or Barwest. The bartenders are very chill and my drinks are always served quickly with a smile. Rather I'm watching a game on one of their big screens or grabbing a drink before catching a concert next door, R15 is Always an obvious choice.

This was my first time here for brunch. The bloody mary was good but the chilaquiles were absolutely horrible. I finished half my plate of mushy chips and runny over easy eggs, topped with very little cheese and green chile sauce. I have been here for other events like XOSO dodgeball for bar food but this was terrible.

Came here on Monday night of Memorial Day Weekend to shoot some pool with a friend before catching a flight. Good place to shoot pool at $1 a game. I played from 6 - 7:30 and there wasn't much of a fight for the 4 pool tables at the establishment. My only complaint with the pool room is that there is a pillar that stands in the middle of the room that kind of blocks your shot for all 4 tables. I'm not sure why it is there, but the $1 charge per game more than makes up for it since the tables were well kept.

So I am not much of a drinker. I barely drink water. But every once in a while I like to head out to the bars and remind myself how much worse California beers are when compared to Seattle microbrews. A friend from Seattle was visiting the SacRam of the Mento, as they call it, and we hop skipped and jumped from some bar down the street into R15, located conveniently on the corner of R street and 15th street. Some of you have just had a connection. Feel free and click the "Useful" button now. Whoa. I just realized if you rearranged the words, you get Men To Ram Sac. Sacramento is gross. Anyway, my drinks here were limited to a few brews that I didn't order for myself, but they were fine. What I liked about this place was as follows: - Pool Tables - I am always a fan of pool tables. The cues weren't stellar, and the tables required exact change and dollar bills, but there needs to be pool in every bar. - Lounge - Better than the pool tables, there are these little cubby hole lounges with their own TVs playing various sporting events. Everyone thinks that these lounges are bathrooms, which we found when a couple of drag queens kept interrupting us while trying to find a toilet, but these are very cool. It's like watching a game at a bar and at home, rolled up into one. So I like it! It's not a 5 star, but then what is.

Loving the cute little semi private rooms with TV's in them! I didn't get any food, just beer. But I liked the atmosphere (for the 20 minutes I was there) Oh, bar hopping!=)

This is a great bar in downtown Sacramento. You have your choice of an outdoor patio or inside with plenty of big tables with bar stools which makes it a great option for large groups. There are several pool tables on one side of the bar and lots of loud music to dance to on the other. It was the perfect place to end an evening of fun.

I wanted to like this place, and I did for a minute. But then I experienced firsthand how violent and unprofessional the staff are. Not to mention the bartenders do not know how to mix a drink. Just awful. Highly suggest you go somewhere with real class and talented, respectful staff like Shady Lady a couple doors down. This bar is full of ratchet and bro's. That's including the staff.

Horrible! Visited on a Saturday at 4pm. Beer on tap was down, sliders were sold out...what?? I expect MUCH more from a Paragary restaurant. If your tap beer is down, offer me a discount on a bottle. How can sliders be sold out, yet I'm still able to order a burger off the menu? Horrible experience, horrible customer service, horrible pizza.....oh...yea....the pizza was so salty, we couldn't eat it. (The pizza was taken off our bill and replaced with something else....that was mediocre, at best).

3rd time here and left once again very disgusted by the service. I give places multiple tries because sometimes ya just have a bad day, but after 3 times and the same rude bartender, enough is enough. Maybe his trendy glasses and overly greased hair has caused him a lapse in bar-tending skills. I opted to not tip this time. Will not be returning here.

Semi-drunken Corrections employees by the dozens. Decent black and tan, but they don't have Bass, so you have to choose a good tan. Love the wait staff. Pool tables. Food. Okay prices.

I like this place to hang out with friends and get a drink. All the staff is very friendly and attentive and there are plenty of TVs to occupy your wandering eyes. It's pretty awesome, especially on Sundays (and even more during Football), they have bottomless Mimosas! The food here is pretty decent, though it's not incredibly cheap. The drinks I'd say are fair (and if you had the urge to go fancy, Shady Lady is down the street). Another nice thing about R15 is location. There's usually plenty of parking and Burgers N Brew is on the same street so you can grab a bit if you've got the drunken munchies. The crowd here varies, but I've never seen any issues. There is music that plays somewhat loud, but it's not unbearable. I definitely will come back here and so should you!

Went here for happy hour. They lie...happy hour ends at 6, not 7 as advertised. Also pay very close attention to the sneaky fine print on the happy hour menu. Friends and I were excited about the $8 pichers for happy hour. We ordered up some Widmer, got the bill and it was $16 for the picher, not $8! Say what?? Apparently, out of the wimpiest selection of draft beer I have ever seen, there is only ONE beer that you can get for the $8 picher price...PBR. After my jaw dropped at the ridiculous price of our picher, i noticed that in tiny print on the happy hour menu, it says "select beers". It should say "Only one crappy beer is available for $8 per picher"!! Also, it wasn't even busy at happy hour and the music was way too loud to have a conversation. Not worth your time or money here.

This is where I watched Tom Brady cry. After a long day, I stumbled in to sit down and relax. There were 20 or so people at the bar, but the rest of the place was completely empty. Love the little tv rooms - they were a great respite from the public, and a nice place to just zone out. And there was Tom Brady. ,weeping for the world to see. Aww. I'd like to extend that into a metaphor for the generally douchey clientele that visit here that maybe, in quiet times, are just as sensitive and human as the rest of us -- but that's too much work to write well. Anyhow, it was a fun little find.

This place is conveniently located next to Burgers and Brew, and some other bars (don't know their names). I've been here twice, and both times the experience was just OK. The drinks are actually not that expensive. But if you order 4 shots of Patron for you and your friends, be prepared that some shots may be a lot bigger than others. But the shots are actually pretty big already. The bartenders are bartenders. They aren't the nicest people, but they do their job. The music is from the music videos playing on the TVs. It's a decent mix, and it's a bit random at times. From experience, Saturday nights are more busy than Friday nights. But I was able to find a table to sit at both times I visited.

So, yesterday I went to R15 to catch the Kings game. I decided I wasn't going to drink so my boyfriend ordered himself a beer and I asked for a glass of water. Tell me why they charged me $1 for water?! For TAP WATER actually!! Really though? Last time I checked, tap water was FREE??

Definitely a cool little spot. Very chill atmosphere with a great Dj that plays good tunes. Drink specials are nice too, they usually have a different one every day, except Fridays and Saturdays. They have a nice set up of pool tables as well if your into that. Definitely a great place to chill.

R15 is always a solid stop to start off a night, or afternoon, of drinking to have a couple solid drinks and to head off elsewhere. And that is not a bad thing. It's a good spot to have a drink, and if you want to play some pool. But if you are looking for a little space and a normal volume level to carry a conversation, you'll probably need to look to another bar. It can get kind of cramped in there from time to time and awkward to manuever through the traffic to the bar and difficult to hear friends with the videos playlist going on in the background. A lot of people mention that the bartender's aren't friendliest. But they know what they are doing, and even though with the bar set up has them trapped ina horsehoe and basically running a zone defense with patrons. The best night to go is Tuesday for all night happy hour, especially if you are going to a show at Ace of Spades next door. Definitely a good transition bar.

  • Shaila S.

Service was awful. It seems like they are completely oblivious. I came here on a Friday evening around 6pm before catching a show at Ace of Spades. No one came to our table to take our orders, so we all went to order at the bar. I ordered and got my drink, and then stood by the bar with my credit card in my hand waiting to pay for 15-20 minutes before the bartender even looked at me. In that time, he took orders and processed payment from other patrons. Look around, bro! The food and drinks were not that great either.

I've been coming here off and on for a while now. I've gotten the chicken sandwich with fries a couple times and it's always been good. Nothing fancy but still delicious. I can't really justify giving anything more than 3 stars since it's just a chicken sandwich so thats where it will stay.

so, my friend and i are hungry---we decide to go down R street because we know there are a few food places to eat at. i already been to and love burgers and brews, so we opted to try something different. we chose R15 Bar---we walk into the place and sit down at the bar right in front of the bartender who is engaged in a conversation with another person at the bar (who obviously is done ordering or is just a friend)---the bartender (tattoo on arm says glutton)--did not even acknowledge our presence--not a hello, welcome, i'll be with you in a quick second.....nada! i ordered the calamari and it looked like a joke---it looked like a sample size--it looked like someone had already eaten 1/2 of it--there were probably 15 little calamari's on the entire plate--it was an embarrassing plate! my friend and i both gasped when we saw it. i will honestly never go back to R15-and never would i recommend it. i'm sure i just had a bad experience and i'm sure there are better days of customer service and food.....but you know first impressions are most important!!

A friend and I finish lunch inside and decide to step outside to soak up the nice weather. A woman I saw earlier talking to herself and circling the place comes in, grabs a beer and also sits outside. She sits next to two guys and starts talking to them, she likes them a lot. However, she CANNOT stop talking smack to or about EVERY SINGLE PERSON that passes. Including me and my friend. She is paranoid and thinks my friend is staring at her and lets her have it calling her a "dike" among other things. I see people walk by and about to go in but see and hear her yelling insults to everyone and decide to keep walking. Obviously not good for business I go inside and inform the bartender, but apparently nothing can be done because she's related to Kurt Spataro. I sit back outside and she continues to harass us AND everyone else. My friend is seriously offended and patience is running thin, she goes in and says something. They tell her the same thing. Eventually one of the bartenders asks her to leave. Of course making a scene she chugs her beer and burps in his face and yells insults and drops Kurt's name as she backs into the street. I can't comprehend how having her at your restaurant is worth losing business. People who were already there, hurried up and left and people who were about to come in changed their mind. Thank goodness for the bartender who asked her to leave and apologized with a round on him. Unfortunatley I didn't catch his name, he knows who he is. He is the reason there are two stars.

I have been here quite a few times, and I have tried making myself like this place, but overall I cannot get into R15. This place sucks. I don't like the atmosphere. A majority of the who people come here are all the assholes from all the cliques. Any yuppie, nerd, punk, steam or hipster asshole is here. I am not in a rant as if I had one bad night and I am seeking yelp revenge, I have literally had several terrible nights here. One included me buying drinks for three tables. Honestly I would rather my friends finish their evening at R15 so I can just lie and say " no thank you I have had enough." I had high hopes for this place to be honest, and from the sounds of it so did a lot of people; but overall I give this place a D for all the dicks in it.

First off, the $4 Bloody Mary's on the weekend are awesome. This gained back the star lost for the awful Huevos Rancheros I attempted to eat but sent back. Two corn tortillas with two eggs, canned black beans (runny), and a spat of cheese and salsa does not constitute anything I'd ever want to eat. That was my only real dislike. I also tried the breakfast burrito, garlic fries, and two types of pizza. All were tasty. I only gave this place 4 stars for the great prices on the Bloody Mary's and the fact that our waitress Marissa was absolutely awesome. She made the whole experience pleasant and enjoyable for us. I will be back.

Great place to play some pool, grab a drink, and have some good times. Pool equipment isn't too janky - only downside is that there is this huge column that's holding up the ceiling dead-smack in the middle of the room where they have four pool tables. Any time you happen to need to shoot out of that corner, you're going to invariably have the back of your cue bumping up against it and throwing off your shot. UGH. Obviously nothing they can do about it... but seriously annoying. Tons of TVs every where to catch the game or ESPN highlights. Good music selection played over their system too. Drink deals are good and vary throughout the week. Really have nothing bad to say about the place. Check it out.

This review is for Brunch only. Came in on Sunday for Brunch and unlimited mimosas. Sat at the patio on the R15 side so we can get full service...(self service on the Cafe side). Food was good as usual but the service was just plain horrible. First of all, $10 for unlimited mimosas?! Where are we?!!!....SF? The mimosas wasn't even good. It was served at room temp warm......ewwww. Our server kept disappearing. She totally ignored us. Everytime I wanted a refill she was nowhere to be found. She walked by at the end of our meal and it was pretty clear that we were done with brunch. Took our server another 20 minutes to get our check. We were 2 seconds away from getting up and leave without paying but she popped out the door with our check :( ...We did not get our $10 worth of mimosas because our server wasn't around to refill our glasses.

I came here to meet up with some friends. The bar area was crowded, so we sat at Café Bernardo, which is attached to R15. We were the only ones sitting there, in the dark. Even so, it's better than having no place to sit. There is a room with pool tables as well. I can't comment on the drinks, since I'm not much of a drinker.

  • Brenden C.

Bartenders have never ignored me in this place. There's a mixed crowd of people, but never anyone who I would consider to be shady. This may be a strange aspect to consider about a bar, but the bathroom is one of the cleanest I've ever used at a drinking establishment. Probably has to do with the restaurant portion that is closed at night.

Came here for Sunday morning football, liked it much better than some of the other places downtown. Good atmosphere, $10 Mimosas, great food and excellent service. Recommending this place to all my football loving friends who want to enjoy a good glass of champagne and a good meal.

This review is long LONG overdue. So let me start off by saying the server "Marisa" rocks!!! Some time back I was at a Yelp event here and she truly went out of her way for my friends and I. Every time those tasty sliders came out, we were too late..Gone! What did she do? When the next round of samples came out, she brought them out straight to our deprived group. AWESOME! Along with having her on the team, the rest of the staff is friendly as well. Its always a great place to spend some time and play some pool or watch a game while enjoying a cold one.

R15 is my second home. I do live right down the street, met my boyfriend here, and have grown to become friends with most of the staff so I may be a little biased, but I definitely didn't start out that way! BUT I do love this bar - I put it in a separate class of it's own. It's the kind of place that's cool to hang out at anytime of the day for however long and they'll treat you like family. Also, there is no stereotype for the crowd there - very representative of the laid back Midtown crowd (no K street D-bags) I don't come here too often on Friday or Saturday nights because it can be very crowded and hard to get a drink. You can usually find me and my friends having brunch on a weekend morning. John and Brittany always take great care of us. I've been coming here for 5 years and the staff hasn't changed much which I really appreciate. Everyone who works here seems to enjoy it. The Drinks are made well by most of the bartenders. I do have one guy there I have learned to never order a mixed drink from (unless I want a $7 soda), but for the most part, if you treat them well, they'll serve you well. Al, John and the lady with black hair who makes a killer Old Fashioned are the best! They run a lot of really great drink specials through the week. Do wish they'd bring back bottomless mimosas for brunch though (ghetto people ruin everything)!!! Plus, the beer selection is very basic. As for the food, it seems to fluctuate in quality, but usually a 7 out of 10. They started doing 2 for $25 dinner specials where you get two plates and a carafe of wine - what a deal! Pool, Great Music Videos, Sports on any TV, Sunny Patio and friendly staff get my 5 stars!!

This is the second bar I visited upon concluding a year-long drinking sabbatical for health reasons. You can probably guess that I was itching for a stiff, well-made cocktail at that point. R15 delivered the drink, but that was about it. The bartenders here weren't nearly as friendly and sociable as those at other stops during my bar crawl. The pool tables all seemed to have some sort of operating issue. The interior, while nice and upscale-ish, is overshadowed by the rowdy, majority male crowd I usually find here. The bar is attached to Cafe Bernardo, so if you come for a meal, be prepared to listen to the sound of loud bar visitors from next door, although the two places do a fairly good job of keeping their clients separate. I will say this place is a great midday spot for some TV sports viewing if there isn't too much of a crowd!

Bartender kept the beer flowing and made sure the Giants were on the telly. Great spot for pool and baseball! Grilled asparagus is great... Even if it does make my pee smell like a science experiment...

I had fun on my Tuesday night here :) As you already read other reviews, $2 dollar well drinks from 3pm to closing. Cant beat the price ! even though its not the brand name stuff, these stuff sneak up on you .. be careful. There's also $2 beer. or $8 pitcher. I'd say the pitchers more worth it if you have a group of 3-4. The kitchen does close at 9pm, so if you plan on staying late. order order order! but if you do plan on eating after 9, our waitress said that we are aloud to bring outside food in.. but DO be sneaky about it .. dont flaunt it . haha. The AMF... was too sweet. i could only taste a honey taste. but my friend did have a good one. So it really depends on the bartender. Cranberry & Vodka is my #1 choice for the night. Other than the food and drinks, the feel of this place is good. When you first walk in you see the bar and to the left there are pool tables. $1 for each game. On the right of the pool tables are the VIP rooms. pretty small, got 2 couches, a tv & a table. It can fit up to at least 10 people. But we had a group of at least 15 and we fit. it was a bit crowded but we fit haha. It was a fun experience. We did go a little overboard and had a little bit too much fun. But I'm sure we weren't the first ones.

Visited on Friday night and witnessed Zito's masterpiece. Good place to catch the gaem. The food was pretty dang good, too. The Reuben was loaded and delicious. Fries come with it and our optinal. I ordered fries and couldn't finish the meal.

An all around fun spot to hit up before seeing a show next door. The staff is friendly enough for a bar. The drinks are cheap during happy hour but otherwise, a little more than I'd like to spend. The ambiance is pretty hip and trendy which isn't my style but was rather refreshing over all. I do love the brick look of the building very much. I'll return but only for happy hour.

This has to be one of the the BEST places to people watch in sac-town. I have not seen a bar as diverse as this crowd wise in quite some time. Granted it was thanksgiving week so I know everyone and their mom's were home, but man diversity is so great, especially in a bar like R15. It is a pretty trendy spot and drinks and shots aren't too badly priced either. There are some pool tables and tables both inside and outside to hang out at, but the best table is the semi secret/hidden room area complete with its own flat screen tv that if you get there early enough you can snag for you and your friends for free, no bottle service needed! Darkly lit so you can hide in here as well, they play some good music, it can be a little loud, but definitely a fun spot to go where you are almost guaranteed to see someone else that you know and you'll feel like you actually went out out when you are still just at another midtown bar.

  • Julie S.

I love the nightly deals here! Especially $5 you call its on Monday. I didn't know they had an unlimited mimosas and brunch on Sundays so I'll definitely be back for that. R15 is a bar you must hit up with you come of age. Make sure Brian makes your drinks. He does the drinks just right... strong but enjoyable!

It's a good thing there isn't a midtown running of the bulls a la Spain. Angry bulls would be SMASHIN' up R15's crimson fascade. That would make Randy P sad. =( Not only does no want Randy P sad, but also it makes one less decent place to watch sports. Yup, good sports TV viewing is found here. I got crazy excited about getting up at the crack of dawn and watching World Cup futbol here. I've also enjoyed American football viewing at R15 as well. Maybe it's not the best place to find the ever elusive Browns vs Jaguars clash as I don't think the NFL package is in effect. It's good for the big games though. I'll take some gridiron action and a breakfast burrito with chile verde sauce. Hell to the yeah. Sabor yelp.com/user_details?us… would disapprove of the m/f ratio on a Friday night, but apparently their jager bombs are zee best. That might be a positive for you. Drinks are cheap enough and, hey, they have a patio. On a final note, the R15 commercials currently running on ESPN put a giddy evil smile on my face cuz of the many parodies of it dancing in my head. That's worth an extra star. Game on!

I had a really great experience here. It was a super chill bar even though it got pretty crowded on Saturday night. Despite the number of people, it was still very easy to get a drink! And they had good prices too! $4 for a scotch, not bad in my book. The had a patio outside you could smoke on if you so choose, music videos playing at some point (after sports). Bathrooms were clean and easy to get in and out of (no wait). Spent a couple hours here with no significant complaints!

This is a great bar Downtown, with in walking distance of other bars and the light rail. Pool tables, great bar tenders, good prices, TVs that actually show sports and a wide variety of seating. Overall one of the more underrated bars in Sacramento.

First impressions are important. My impression of R15 (on friday night) was okay. I felt like it was packed with people; the entrance made it difficult to walk through with big groups of over 8. Nontheless, the bar tenders were nice and assisted us promptly. Good place for friends to hang out and what not. Recommended as an okay lounge place with friends. Pros: Good lounge area Cons: Kind of narrow walk ways. Ambiance wasnt that great. Stars: 2.5

Bar is great the server I had was unbelievably rude . I don't remember her name she was just an older blonde girl and I was in shock when she asked if we needed anything I asked if she could grab my card from the bar I didn't realize that was a huge deal .. Will never sit in her section again

Free pool after 7pm on Mondays! Yay! Oh, and their food selection is great (italian sausage calzone, chocolate peanut butter cupcake, calamari, to name a few...). Service was commendable, and just an all-around fun place to go with friends. I recommend R15 to everyone...

Being this is a pretty popular bar in Sacramento it's usually busy. The pool tables are always fun, something else to do other than sit or watch a game. I like the high bar stool tables outside, nice little touch for when you want some fresh air. Service isn't the greatest. The other night we came and it took a while before someone even acknowledged us, even if you're busy a simple, "I'll be right with you" can go a long way. The boys ordered beer, I had jack and coke, more like just coke, but whatever.

I love coming here for a few drinks and a round of pool on the weekends. The drinks are reasonably priced, i would say, because the bar tenders so far have never skimped on the strength. It's just enough to loosen me up to play a purely luck-based game with my SO. Heh. The layout is nice, and there are four pool tables total. Games are somethin like a dollar each, buy more save more. During the evenings it is obviously much busier so getting a table is hit or miss. Another thing i like is the private tv rooms and the fact that they play the football broadcasts. If you're lucky you can chill in one of those or try to find a spot at the bar facing the tv that shows your desired game. I held off on one star because the food is mediocre. This is specially in regards to the adjoining sister restaurant Cafe Bernardo. Its not worth the price to me, personally. R15 itself - they have a decent selection of bar grub to snack on when you're feeling the munchies. Also, on one occasion we arrived to watch our game 15 mins early and got our own viewing room, but it took the staff at least 25 mins to change the channel for us (you have to request for them to do it). It was like 10 in the morning and really slow, so no excuses man.

R15 is just a very chill place to hang out and grab a pitcher and play some pool. I also like the fact that they serve food! I like how they have a designated area for pool, and some seating around it. The one thing that I will say is that I highly dislike the bar in the middle of that room because it prevents the liberty of certain positions during the game. Other than that, this place is one of my favorites!

Nice place, It has all kinds of corners for every size of party. We were in one of the caves, the server serving us was very sweet. Though noise from nearby snooker/pool tables was distracting. Though overall a nice place, which I will visit again... cheers

Part of the Paraguary's empire, R15 is a decent downtown spot and a cheaper, more welcoming alternative to Shady Lady down the street. I'd preface this by saying that I disagree with Yelp labeling this place a "sports bar", although considering the extremely limited options downtown, it may just be a sad testament to the quality of sports bars in the downtown area. Layout: Pretty typical bar setup inside, you have a mix of bar seating, high tables and booths. There are TVs above the bar and around the main room. There's also a pool room, with four tables (all in good shape), and two smaller alcoves where you can hang with a few friends. Drinks: You can get any standard mixed drink, and they have a decent, albeit not great, beer selection. I think they have about 8-10 beers on tap, ranging from Bud Light to Sierra Nevada, Newcastle, etc. Prices are fair. Expect to pay around $3-$6 for a normal mixed drink, and about $4 for a pint. Food: I'd say the food is better here than at most other bars in the downtown area. Good breakfasts on weekends, and they do a bottomless mimosa deal. Their sandwiches are awesome. If you want some better-than-average bar food, I'd recommend you give R15 a chance over the likes of Blue Cue and Barwest. The crowd: Pretty mixed crowd, I get the impression it really depends on the night and what kind of show is happening next door. If I had to guess I'd say the crowd tends to be in their 20s and 30s for the most part. All in all, pretty good bar for the price. Food is above average, everything else about it is average. Not great, but certainly not a bad option!

Stopped in at the R15 Bar on our second stop of a fun filled Saturday Night. The place was pretty crowded, yet didn't have a line halfway down the block like some of the other hot spots on a Saturday Night. I noticed that the Male to Female Ratio was off, by a lot, making there way more males to females in the crowd. This didn't bother me much at all, as I was in my own world, but it was an interesting mix of people. R15 added to the fun we had that night, so I have to say based on that experience, I will be back. ;)

Cute little bar to meet some friends at - which is just what I did on Saturday night. My boyfriend's close friend was in town for the day and we decided to meet up at Bar R15. At first I was a little skeptical since neither of us had been to this bar but it turned out to be a nice evening. We found a comfortable booth to sit in and ordered drinks. I of course ordered a Coke, while my boyfriend went with PBR. I think total for both of ours was between $4-$5. Not bad. After having a couple of drinks, we moved over to the pool area. My boyfriend enjoys playing pool at bars so he was stoked. The pool area is pretty large and has 4 really nice tables. The nice thing is that there are tables and stools around each so if you're not playing, you can sit on the side and watch. On a side note - I love the decor here. When you walk in, all you think is "red" because that seems to be the general color of the entire bar. Which I love! Our waitress was friendly and kept checking on us to see if we wanted more drinks. Even while we were in the pool area. I would definitely come here again for a chill night out. Didn't get a chance to try the food, apparently they have "modern bar food" - whatever that is. I didn't get a chance to check out the menu. Maybe next time.

$10 PBR pitchers? Yes please! Great place to hang out with friends for Sunday football with plenty of TVs around the bar--great for for big groups and they got outdoor seating. They are dog friendly as well.

I have been coming to R15 for the last two (2) Sundays for football; and I do not see myself coming back anytime in the near future. After entering the restaurant and sitting at the bar, I was immediately greeted by the bartender Theo who was extremely pleasant and eager to get our order started. My friend and I ordered the two-egg breakfast with bacon and sausage; along with the Ham and Egg sandwich from our server. While we were waiting Theo continually filled up our drinks without asking and kept us up to date on the status of our order. My biggest complaint and hesitation to come back is the time from when the order is placed to when the order arrives, which has been 50 to 55 minutes the last two (2) Sundays for simple breakfast dishes. While the server Theo has been extremely pleasant, accommodating and helpful; he unfortunately can't control the speed of the kitchen. Realistically, 60 to 75 minutes for breakfast is just a tad too long.

I've been to R15 between 15-20 times in my life. Each time was not bad, but not really good either. There are pool tables everyone seems to love, so getting one can be a challenge during busier times, like weekends. I went a couple days ago to watch a basketball game during their happy hour. We ordered the hot wings and R15 fries, as well as a pitcher and well drink. The prices were good, I guess. The R15 fries lacked salt. I like salt on my fries, not a LOT of salt, but at least some. It seemed as if there was no salt at all, so I poured some on. They were topped with bacon, green onions, and cheese. But still, there was just a lot of flavor lacking, I'm not sure why. Eh. The hot wings were good, but the portion size was very small. I had been to MVP a couple weeks before and they had a decent sized wing plate for only a couple bucks more that also came with carrots and crunchy celery for dipping. Not like the droopy 2 pieces of celery that came with the wings at R15. We ordered sides of ranch dressing. Not sure what kind of ranch dressing that was, but once again, no flavor! I was not impressed. Also, the $8 happy hour pitcher seemed to only be PBR. And the well drink I ordered (vodka cran) was lacking in the vodka category. I like the atmosphere. Lots of TVs, good sound system, and pool tables. The people that gather are pretty kick back most of the times, with the occasional group of d*uchey guys. Overall, I come here when the other people I'm meeting want a pre party get together. I wouldn't choose this place simply because the drinks aren't strong enough. But the atmosphere is good for getting you amped for a night out.

I've been here on several occasions. Most recently. I came for the yelp bartender olympics event. Good music, diverse crowd, reasonably priced drinks. I had fun and wouldn't hesitate to come back.

The yelp event was fun. It was nice meeting great people who can come together and have a good time without all the drama. People cheered on the contestants, shared the samples with those behind them, and was just able to be. Now for night two, see ya there.

This is probably the best bar to go to in Sacramento, in my opinion. Not only is the crowd really diverse and nice, but the drinks here are pretty legit. I had an Hawaiian Vagina here and i fell in love with it!! :) Not to mention, the bartenders are really nice and they make the drinks strong. The only thing that kinda sucks about coming here is having to wait for a pool table. Also, the place is somewhat a little small, so on nights like Fridays, it can be a hassle to walk around. But overall, it's has a great atmosphere; everyone's super friendly and it's a great location if you want to bar hop over to Ace of Spades or Shady Lady.

Dropped by on a Thursday night around 10:30... got my i.d. checked over... said "Hi" to some friends on the patio, and meandered inside to the bar. Decent selection of stuff, I just ordered two well drinks, a gin & tonic and a rum & coke. The bartender was quick to help me as there were mostly dudes hanging around the edges of the bar and I looked cute or something. Drinks were fine, no problems with anyone. Didn't use the ladies room and didn't spend any more time inside, we all went to the patio. Cool.

Last stop on the bar crawl was R15 and this place definitely gives off a locals favorite vibe. The drinks were reasonably priced! Two beers and two whiskeys were $14! If these were the prices now...I can't imagine how much they used to charge in the old days. In terms of beer selection, having already had a couple, I didn't see anything to my liking so I went with the classic Pabst Blue Ribbon, PBR, to end my night. We sat outside and people watched as some guys lit up some cigars and cigarettes and the rest of us enjoyed the cool late night breeze. Based on drink pricing alone, it definitely merits a recommendation but not likely to come back myself because there are too many other bars in Midtown that I'll need to try out first.

The bar staff is sometimes really friendly, other times not so much. They have a full bar, with plenty of beers on tap. But I would recommend getting some food since it comes from the connected Cafe Bernardo. Happy hour is pretty good since it's til 7, lots of places to sit, with a bunch of pool tables. But I miss the hot roasted peanuts! Those things were so money!!!!

How have I not written a review of R15 yet? This is the default place for my office's afterwork happy hours or going away parties. I have probably been here more than any other bar in Sacramento. R15 is a comfortable, inexpensive game to get a drink, watch a televised game, play some pool or just hang out with friends. The bartenders and serving staff are friendly and the drinks and food are inexpensive and tasty. As for the atmosphere, people tend to hang with their own groups and its not really a place to meet new people, the red walls are a little glaring but you get used to them quickly and the music mix is not too obnoxious. If you have a large group, it's fun to get one of the private nooks off of the pool room so you have a place to congregate. We've had them a few times but I don't know if they are first come, first served or if they require a reservation, but if you're having a party they really add to the festivities. All in all, R15 is not fancy, just a good, solid bar.

As a sort of preface, my boyfriend and I are not violent people. Went to this bar since it's close to my apartment and wanted to watch baseball on a Monday night somewhere that wasn't too far to walk. Spent $80 at this bar that I didn't like anyway, and has always had a bad reputation for the clientele as well as the security staff. Now I know why. My wallet was stolen that night, and I realized it five minutes after we left, so my boyfriend went back in to see if it had fallen on the floor or anything. I was waiting outside, and could hear the security making comments about him being too drunk and having to go. All of a sudden my boyfriend was being dragged out in a chokehold & was unconscious. He was dropped on the ground, where he sustained multiple injuries including a broken finger and chipped teeth. I don't want the story to get too long-winded, but there was more violence that same night when we walked by and us and two other friends were assaulted, knocked unconscious, etc etc. Police reports were filed. My boyfriend, many many friends and myself frequent the music venue that is next door. I now have to walk all the way around the block in order not to be (at the very least) verbally assaulted, and I live in fear of being recognized since I live alone very nearby. After a big show at the aforementioned venue, we took a chance since it was so crowded and hoped the staff would be too busy to recognize us or bother us if we walked by. Wrong. We were verbally assaulted, and then pursued us across the street and attempted more physical assault. Luckily we got away without any such scuffle, and filed another police report. We have contacted the GM, who only gave us one response and once she heard our side of the story ceased contact, have attempted to contact the owner, who also owns many other midtown establishments, and will be hiring an attorney for the thousands of dollars in medical bills that have been accrued. Long story short, if you want to have a good time without fearing violence by the people who are supposed to be there to keep out the TRUE riff-raff, don't go to this bar. They don't deserve your patronage anyway if they think it's OK to continue to pay these people to assault nonviolent, paying customers.

Can't beat Tuesday nights happy hour! Well drinks are $2 all night long. The food is eh, and the crowd was ok. I can imagine it being kinda douchey on the weekends however. The bar menu food selection isn't that great.....

I went here for a social function which was a lot of fun. We used an upstairs room which had its own waiter to take our food and drink orders. I had your standard burger with cheese and all the fixings. Really well prepared, moist and very filling. Came with a side of shoestring fries. Others I was with really enjoyed the salmon, which I thinks comes as a plate or a sandwich. From what I could tell, they had about 5-7 beers on draught, but I didn't hear any local brews. I would have liked to try something from California. I had a Guinness, which you can't go wrong with. I didn't get to partake, but there was a great area downstairs with a large bar and several pool tables. Looks like it would be a great place to meet up with some friends after a long day of work or on a weekend night. Parking wasn't too bad. There were spots on the street and you don't have to feed the meters in the evening.

Great place to watch football but seriously what's with the screaming kids? A sports bar on a Sunday morning? Seriously? Aside from that....my favorite place to watch NFL and nurse my hangover. Breakfast is great, bottomless mimosa's provide the necessary hair of the dog. If there's a particularly contentious game, or we just want some privacy, staking a claim in one of the alcoves off the pool table room (flat screen and comfy leather sectional) allows us to be as obnoxious to each other as we'd like-- without offending the entire bar. It's also a great way to escape the aforementioned screaming kids.

As a bar, I find R15 to have a nice, eclectic mixture of people. With the proliferation of "ultra lounges" around midtown lately, it's nice to get back to a more mellow, yet not quite "divey" bar to hangout. I take my friends who aren't familiar with the downtown scene here to get their feet wet. The drinks aren't amazing or very strong, but they're fairly priced. As a cafe during the day, I absolutely love it here. The food's fresh, the portions are enormous (their "half" portions are usually more than I can finish in one sitting), and everything's on the cheaper side. I also love their 75 cent specials on day-old pastries (what can I say, I'm super cheap). Overall, an above average bar at night, and a solid lunchtime spot during the day.

    (4)
  • Nina H.

A middle ground alternative between all the dive bars and ultra lounges in midtown. The people watching tends to be pretty good, some really cool people but also some pretty big douches walking around. They have like 6 pool tables, but every time I've tried to play here, there have been issues with them working.

  • Ed S.

Ha, a decent pool stop off with some other offerings within walking distance to me! Ok, so they're just 7 footers, but you can't have anything and I don't know of a place that'll give you the full 9's anywhere near bye. So, really the review below calling this place a sort of upscale divebar has a pretty good feel to it. Still got a local flavor, but a lot of the upright douche crowd is not in evidence here. The bartenders were prompt, polite, cute, and knew how to take an order. The place has a good crowd but didn't feel massively overcrowded (was a Thursday night though). Food was good, got some of their wings and quesadillas, as well as a half dozen drinks while playing a few rounds. Food was quickly served and tasted good, all for a pretty low price. Saw the little lounge areas they had with the TV's, but not sure what to make of that yet. Still, it's something that they have there if you're into that at your bar. Overall, it's a pretty good place to goto and while I don't know if it'll be a weekly stop off I'll definitely be back.

First time I've left a bar without tipping. This is not the place to go if you need to drink heavily on a Sunday to mourn how bad your team is playing. My glass was empty the entire second quarter. Meanwhile, three bartenders are standing around talking. When I finally decided to flag them down to get me another drink, their apparent leader gave me a waving motion with her hand as if to say: "We're talking. You're just going to have to wait." Then, when they broke their huddle, she came over and said: "We're in the middle of a shift change." But since that did not explain why my glass was empty for nearly 30 minutes, and since I was already pissed off by how bad my team was playing, I decided to go to Elixir for the second half. Elixir's bartender was both professional and sympathetic to my sports-related woes.

This is not my "go-to" spot. . . but a definite place I frequent. What keeps me coming back is their pool tables! They have four and usually people are pretty good about giving up the tables after they've played a couple games. I'm only giving three stars due to their limited draft beer selection; and wasting one of the drafts on PBR.

I went here Halloween weekend and I liked it. The drinks were good, but I might need to order my regular to accurately judge how I like the drinks. According to one of the reviews (Klare P.), my tokyo tea is suppose to be strong, so I'm looking forward to going back and trying that. I didn't try the food, so I can't rate that. Like the drinks, I need to go back and experience it more. From what I did experience, I can say it's a good spot. I like the atmosphere the crowd created.

We love R15......... good cheap drinks, friendly people and cool bartender

Im a fan of R15. Its just a normal dive bar and I appreciate that. Never had bad service and never felt like I was paying too much. I also like that theirs a diverse crowd here. You get the roll over from the bars near by, makes it a much better experience.

Great chill and fun place that I frequent often. This is the place to be Friday and Saturday nights if you want bar with good drink prices, chill (pretty diverse) crowds, get in a game of pool or two (for cheap), not strict dress up dress code, and right next to Burger and Brew for late night snack!

I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Drinks are well priced and the bartenders are nice. The BF bought me 2 vodka tonics and the second one was pretty strong. So I went to the bar to ask them to add more tonic water and the bartender was nice enough to do that. It was still strong so I asked for more lime to squeeze into my drink. The bartender was very accommodating and after I apologized for being a pest, he said no worries it's a compliment. This was where first I heard of a Snow Pea. Ingredients: Peppermint shnapps, rumplestiltskin (I'm sure it's not a character in a fairy tale, but that's what it sounded like), and wild turkey 101. This was recommended by Drew. No, he's not a bartender there. Just a patron who happened to be standing at the bar as I was looking perplexed. I wanted to get a shot of something for my friend's birthday and didn't know what to order. I said to him you can go first, but instead he suggests that I get the Snow Pea. I was intrigued and said sure I'll get that. Then he proceeds to order from the bartender along with some other drinks then pays for it too! Even the customers here are really nice.

Came here Thursday with my friends. It was pretty dead the time we were there (9:30 - 12) but we like it that way. Drinks were good and not overpriced. PBR's 2 bucks all day, everyday. The servers were attentive, asking if we needed another round quickly after I plopped my empty cup down. The DJ played some old school 90s stuff, which is a plus with me. A great place to go during football season with all the flatscreens streaming all of the games available on Sunday. The last time I came here prior to Thursday was a Sunday in October and it was packed at around 1ish. So get here early if you want seats.

Yet another Sac-town business unimaginatively named with its actual location - it is on R and 15th. The punny part is, there are pool tables - hence the 15. See also: Ju Hachi ("18" in Japanese, which is on 18th) and Hangar 17, which is a tin hangar building... on 17th. Very original or something. The up side: R15 has 4 pool tables that you buy per-game ($1 for one game, $5 for 6) or per-hour ($7 for an hour). There are flat panel TVs on every wall, and when we went there we had a choice of two different hockey games (we were there to see the Sharks in the playoffs). The down side: the drinks are wretched. The vodka martini was $2, yes, but it was made from probably $1 of crap plastic-bottle vodka. I think I've had Aqua-Net that tasted better than this. And we were charged for our glasses of water. So I recommend sticking to beer!

Never. Again. Douchville to the max. Came here Saturday night, only to be surrounded by a bar full of douches and morons, all under the age of 23. I think this place actually trumps Streets and Zebra on the douche scale. Met up with some friends of my newly single/going through a divorce friend. Problem #1. Not a place for eligable anything. Problem #2. Bartenders suck and getting a drink took at least 15 minutes. Problem #3. The only $2 draft is PBR. I like PBR, but not when the bar at the opposite corner sells Olympia for the same price! We left after watching a few lame music videos. We seemed to have walked in at Micheal Jackson video hour, which is Problem #4. Too much Micheal. After some heavy discussion of my dislike for the establishment, I finally persuaded my friend to accompany me to Shady Lady. A breath of fresh air when the doors opened. Sorry R15, but that was my last visit there.

Have no idea why I picked this place to cap off my birthday night. But I chose it none the less. Seemed like they had good drink specials going on since it was Cinco de Mayo. But to be honest it was hard chugging down my Coors Light since I was so damn full from dinner. Thought the top button of my pants might go shooting off and start flying across the room with people ducking in horror. R15 was pretty cool though with a decent crowd going on. Had'nt been there in a couple years. Wouldnt mind going back during happy hour and perhaps hustle my buddy into a game of pool.

The only reason I even listed two stars is because it exists and serves liquor. Other than that this Is a hipster bar with long lines, poor service, short staffed, small, no where to sit or stand. PLUS too many sloppy drunks... I don't mind drunks, but slopopodimi are annoying.

I've visited R-15 for happy hour, off and on, since they opened. However, this evening's experience could break my stride. Usually I pick R-15 when an out-of-town, hard-working friend comes through Sacramento and we need some cheap but decent early eats and some good drinks. The crowd is typically friendly folks, sometimes loud inside, but the outdoor patio is comfortable in the spring/summer/fall. Lately, though the bar has been sadly lacking the skills that drew me in earlier, which is to say the drinks tonight were weak, weak, weak. If I order a top shelf martini I'd like to taske the vodka, thanks. And the bar food has gone severely downhill. The bar food menu used to offer more options, now it appears to have been pared back. Lately the Specials Board has been missing from the wall. And the food quality overall has gone downhill in a major, crap-my-car-lost-its-breaks kind of way. Wings, formerly a decent staple of any bar-goer's diet and rendered faily well at this watering hole, are now heavily laden with a cheap-tasting, vinegary, messy, soup of a sauce - gross. My husband's turkey sandwich was so dry that I choked while trying a bite and then spit it out, and he ended up removing the bread and just ate the insides - now that's a sucky sandwich. Our visiting friend's burger was deemed "greasy, greasy, greasy, decent...but greasy." Of course, he'd worked construction all day and skipped lunch, so he probably would have eaten a shoe. We moved around to three different tables when we first arrived, because every table we tried was so wobbly it was uncomfortable. I'd lean on the table: wobble (frantically grab my martini). Sit up from the table: wobble (frantically grab my martini). Switch tables. Repeat. When we first frequented R-15 we were fans. Now, not so much.

Went here with a few friends on a Saturday night and had a good time. You dont usually have to wait for too long for a bartender to get to you and the drinks are well priced. The vibe is nice, pretty chill. The pool tables go pretty quickly once they open up, but its not impossible. Overall, a nice place to just go, hang out and have a few drinks.

Wasn't the best bar but we had a good time. After we got there and got a pool table tons of other people started showing up wanting to play pool. Most waited for a while before getting a table. They only had four pool tables so if you plan on playing pool, get there early to get a table. Drinks were just ok. Nothing to special about this place.

Just had to add a couple things based on my most recent visit. The Pesto-Eggplant pizza is SUPER tasty...when you request Pepperoni added to it! Also, they had a side dish of Garlic-Roasted Broccoli that was offered at Cafe Bernardo, next door. When it came out it looked a little underwhelming, but looks were deceiving; my party & I were all compliments after we tried it. Props to Kelly & Meghan, our two helpful & friendly wait-staff for being very accomodating. I'll bump my review up to 4 stars for this visit.

I hung out at R15 to shoot some pool recently and I had a great time. I like this place in the daytime and the nightime. The pool tables are good for a friendly game but they need to buy new cues. I usually bring my own so that isn't a huge problem. ( not a pool hustler but I can hold my own) Food was decent and the bar staff was friendly. (We all watched kansas lose together hahaha -good thing I didn't do the bracket thing. ) Came back to hangout at night the people were cool and I parked my bike right out front which is a plus. I will come back to check it out again when it gets a little warmer.

There was a time when R15 was one of the most popular in town. I'm not sure why that isn't true anymore. The drinks are cheap, food is satisfying, and there's plenty of bar entertainment (pool tables, televisions, people). While it's not the shiny new hot spot it once was, it's settled into being a good mainstream bar (not too glitter, not too skidrow) where a man or lass can get a drink in a reasonable amount of time.

Always rode past this place and wanted to give it a try. Finally came on a Friday night and the place was packed! I guess it's considering a more "hip" bar, with lots of giant tvs playing videos and all that. They have an outdoor area in the front, a long surrounding bar, lots of tables and booths. We spotted a cute security and a good looking bartender with a slick attitude ;) Drinks were good and at great prices. I believe I had the best Melon Ball up to date, and their Cosmopolitan is very good too! Burgers & Brew is right next door, so no need to worry about food after a visit here =)

Anytime we can't figure out a place to start, we almost always end up at R15 sooner or later & I feel like every time I go, no matter who I go with, its a good time for everyone. There's pool, tv/video games in the little booths, bar seating, booths, tabletops. They have super cheap drinks normally and even cheaper drinks on happy hour, plus they serve food. Plus, its always the perfect amount of crowded... like, there's always people, but not too crowded you can't get a drink. ;P

R15 is a great bar. Period. Billiards, TV's, Food. Music, and best of all, Music Videos. Great quick staff at night, and amazing service in the day.

Went here with my wife last night on a Sunday a little after 6. Got a very nice surprise, Happy Hour was 3-7 even on Sundays, woohoo!! For me the thing that makes any bar is the guy/gal behind the counter and our tender Zack was great. Friendly guy who knows how to make a stiff drink and makes you feel welcome. Minus one star because they were out of everything that night, even bud light and hot wings! It was a quiet night which was exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday evening. Like another yelper said, a chill place for grownups to hang out. I will be back.

Drinks were so so, staff was bored with their day. Nothing really jumped out at us as a place we will just have to return to.

Is it possible to love a bar? If so, I do. That sounds borderline alcoholic but I can't help it. I absolutely love R15! My friends taste in bars varies so differently. Some prefer dive bars, others hoity toity expensive lounges. However, everyone that I've taken here has enjoyed it as much as I have. R15 has the ambiance and physical aspects of a nicer bar, but prices cheaper than my favorite dive bar. This is a winning combo. What place do you know has pool tables, flat screens, a restaurant, and a lounge area to sit back and play video games? Throw in that the bartenders are super friendly and always give a strong pour. Tip: If you want a surefire way to get loaded- order a Wiki (which I have only found served in Davis aside from R15) and watch out for that shot of 151 they pour in your straw ;]

A pitcher of beer, $8. Gin and tonic, $4. Red Bull, $4. Shooting pool and drinking with 5 friends at Bar R15, PRICELESS! well, it was $16 a round. The bouncers here are hella cool too. They all have a great sense of humor. I would definitely be back.

This is our go-to place to play pool and hang out when we don't really know what else to do, and don't feel like trying out a new place. Weekends can get crowded and sloppy, so we like to get there early.

    (3)
  • Chris L.

Not a bad place to watch a game. Many HD TV's though you'll never hear them. Can get really crowded on a big game night. Decent selection of brews on tap including PBR for the budget conscience.

  • Ashley S.

This is a good bar if you are in need of a "college" like bar. Cheap drinks and a good atmosphere...sometimes the crowd can get a bit sketchy on the weekends. Try and grab a tall table and people watch....

  • Mali T.

I'm going to keep this one short and simple. The best Happy Hour in the Midtown location. Staff are very friendly the crowd is a mixture and who allows you to bring outside food there? R15 does!!!! One drink must try...The "WIKI PUNCH" Deadly stuff with a kick hahaha.

Nothing special at all about this place... Located near what looks to be rape central on the outside b/c of the railroad tracks and super dark alleys. Overpriced drinks for mediocre service.

A few weeks ago my buddy , his girl and I decided we were going to go to R-15 because it was his girls first time going to a bar because she just turned 21. I had been here before and I usually enjoyed my time here. There used to be no major dress code meaning you could get in with almost anything as long as you weren't sagging and had clean clothes. I guess these rules changed because me and my buddy were dressed ready to go to the club after meaning we had on ties vest the whole deal. Apparently my jeans were too big and not tight enough to my body. So the first security guard said I couldnt come in unless my pants were smaller... STRIKE 1, I turn to the next security guard ask whats going on and he says "I cant help you sorry" STRIKE 2 Then as I begin to start walking away the guard says to me "NICE TRY" and mugs me all the way down the street.STRIKE 3 Now i'm no racist but when two dark skinned people try to walk into a BAR with damn near suits on with a lightly colored female and dont get in. It seems a little racist to me. Id suggest never supporting this bar and trying to get it shut down its dirty and the drinks arnt strong at all for the price you pay. Thank you R-15 for reminding how much Sacramento sucks. Oh and to add to that my buddy got rear ended by some drunks shortly after leaving.... lol big wow

So I came in on Saturday with a few friends. That's where we started our evening. It wasn't to bad. Not overly crowded. I ordered my first drink fairly quickly which came out to $4. Great price for a redbull vodka. We hung out. Went outside to have a smoke and it was raining. They don't have a cover for their patio, just an umbrella that everyone must cuddle under. Not that great if it's raining. I went back in for my second drink. I ordered from the same bartender the exact same drink and this time she charged me $6. I didn't question it, I just paid it but I think that something strange is going on. I don't know if the bartenders are charging more and pocketing the extra or what but we left right after that. Not sure if I'll ever go back but there is no way I'll go on a rainy night

It feels like I finally found a bar in Sacramento that doesn't totally blow. R15 is a great spot if you want a casual evening/early night with your friends. Apparently happy hour here is the jam but I just missed it when I went out... but I still don't feel exceptionally cheated on my drinks. The bartenders are alright.... not like the friendliest in the world but they know how to make a good drink so I can't really complain. There are pool tables off to the side in another room and then there is Cafe Bernardo in another room that's attached. The atmosphere is chill, the crowd was cool and it's just a casual place (finally, somewhere were I spend more time there than getting ready to go out) where you can chill and enjoy some drinks. Great place to start on a long night out, hands down!

Went last year and the bar was empty on a Wednesday night--shy of a few hoosier-types. This year, went back and found the place bustling. I don't know if everyone is just losing their jobs and imbibing away their miseries or what. But, it's a decent spot with a hint of moderne but a history of hoosier. Play pool or drink a good car bomb... It's a good night out for Sacramento.

Bad service made me wait and it wasn't even crowded, seriously messed up my order, I stated I was a vegiterian and got a calzone. They put ham in it and were angry when I wanted a new one. Made me hate my experience! Even the service at the bar was bad! Could be good but service failed miserably! Steer clear unless you have nowhere else to go!

Can't say it was amazing can't say it was bad. Just A-OK. Good place to come with a group for lunch, about $9 ish a plate of food for a person. Decent size meals and fresh. Got a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, lots of chicken, good lemon Caesar dressing, but nothing that was, "Hot Damn that was gooood!!" A solid no frills, everyone can eat and be merry place.

Headed over to this place after Dream. There are a lot of guys here, which could be nice, but I wasn't up for socializing with random dudes. Our group snagged a room with a tv. We basically watched random music videos and talked for a bit. I didn't order any drinks, but I did taste one someone else ordered. It was good, have no idea about the price. There are pool tables around so if you like that, it could be fun. The place was really crowded, but at least the toilets flushed. At Dream they did not. I may come back here, but doubtful. I'd rather try out Shady Lady next time.

Beer: cold and reasonably priced, especially with specials. Food: not just bar food - good reuben, variety of salads (including a salad sampler!). Went there for Game 1 of the West finals (Lakers over Nuggets), and had a great time - enough TVs to watch the game at all times, and then wandered over to the pool tables ($1 a game, $5 for 6 games, and $7 or so for an hour?) to finish off the rest of our eleventy pitchers of Sierra and PBR. The clientele are relaxed as hell while still wearing pants, and going there with a group of six for a quiet-turned-not-quite-naked-making night out was a good night I'll be going back to try and repeat.

This was awkward. Would come here if it was a part of my plans, but we randomly stopped in to see a friend and had dancing plans later on. So we were wearing skirts, heels, etc. Everyone stared at us like we were crazy. It is definitely a chill, hang out sort of place. No dancing. If I were in the mood, and dressed appropriately so I didn't feel so weird, I would like to come here and just grab drinks with a group. I need to check out their happy hour soon though.

  • Whitney M.

R15 is a cool place to go if you're in the mood to chill and have a few drinks. R15 is a cool place to go if you're not in the mood to get groped on by 18 year old douchebags (*cough* Empire *cough*). And, really, who is? R15 is a cool place to go to say "Hi" to Matt, the awesome and nice bartender. What isn't cool is getting some major attitude from the other bartender for no apparent reason. What's your problem? Would you rather be over at Empire or something? Still, didn't let that kill my buzz!

  • Nani V.

I've been here a few times with my friend and a few people that she knows. Nice looking little place. I've only hung out at the bar, in the front patio, and the ladies room. I believe there's an area for pool and etc. The crowd is a little..eh...a little different from what I'm used to. I see myself going there again with my friend though, no problem. I don't think I'd be a regular there or anything.

  • Jay K.

Fun atmosphere with a pool hall and private TV rooms. The bar is rustic and the employees are friendly. Drink prices are all over the board and rarely make sense. It is our standard fallback on the weekdays when other bars in Sacramento seem to have sporadic hours and close on a whim do to lack of business that evening. R15 will be open even if you are the only one there.

  • Abe F.

A friend took me to R15 for the first time and being that I never go to bars, I can say that I felt very comfortable, ended up having a great time, and liking it very much. The staff - from the moment of checking my ID to making sure that empty glasses were removed promptly and generally keeping a watchful eye was good to see! They were smiling and having a great time themselves all while doing their job... and I very much liked that. The crowd was mixed (which I liked), people were more concerned with having a good time rather than fighting (which I really liked), and I even met some people who struck up some conversation. The bar was a bit crowded and I could see them using more bartenders, but being so inexperienced with the bar scene in general, I cannot truly be certain that it is like that everywhere. Also, the floor was a bit sticky - but what else do you expect at a bar a couple of hours from closing and people spilling drinks? I loved the Plasma/LCD monitors showing videos and the speakers and sound quality were great. People were dancing, watching videos and sports highlights - all in all it was a very memorable night. I will return to R15. Perhaps next time to try the food as well! Good place!

Not a bad spot, overall a pretty cool sports bar. I like the little rooms with a pretty decent size tv and couches bonus for the nice tables. Only thing that sucks is they could do with some new cues and a short stick for some of the edges where you can't get to your shot. They have lots of tv's so you can get your sports fix and an decent size outdoor patio where you can drink while having a smoke, harder to find these days. One of these days I might even try the food.

Came here for a classmate's birthday last night. They played old school rap and hip hop all night long. Brought back a lot of good memories from back in the day. Unfortunately, I was the old fogie in the group who truly appreciated the jams. The other kids didn't even recognize most of the songs. Talk about generational gap! Even this girl who's only 2 years younger than me had never heard of some of the songs. Guess I'm just OG like that. Word. Anyway, the drinks here are super cheap. I bought a round of 5 drinks (3 mixed drinks and 2 beers) for $17.25. The women's bathroom was clean. There are also heat lamps outside on the front patio. Definitely a fun place to hang out.

  • Christine A.

I've been here a few times and they were all pleasant. I was here recently and it was so busy, I forgot what it was like to wait for a drink. I was very happy to find out that my old co-workers work here too! The venue is nice and the food is good. I like that we can sit in the restaurant area and have some space.

A group of my Coworkers and I headed out here last Friday afternoon for a "team building". We had a good time and I can't comment on the prices as no one would let me pay for a drink. However when I ordered my beer the bar tender kinda forgot me. I ordered and he said he would get it in a minute. I had to go back 5 minutes later when it never came and reorder. Then I grabbed a burger because I skipped lunch. It was great - but what is with the 50-cent charge for a side of ranch for the fries? Our group ordered about 25 drinks, 5 appetizers and 3 meals - couldn't you comp the side of ranch? We will probably go back for another "team building" in a few months. If things improve I could be convinced to up the star count.

How helpful that they named a bar exactly where it can be found? Perfect. No need to remember the name and location of where my friends and I are. Now if only along with the address it said something like "cheap drinks R15" or "possibly roofied *insert address of monkey bar*" that would be even more beneficial. All joking aside R15 is fun. My friends frequent the hang out usually on Fridays when the pay check has just been deposited and want to know exactly just "how many of them shot things" I can buy for only twenty dollars. the answer is probably like 4. Another plus is the music. Where else besides my playlist marked "Guilty Pleasures" can I hear Wheatus' "Teenage Dirtbag"? They have separate rooms for video games which I view and both a positive and negative. I mean, sure it's cool and the bartenders will deliver your drinks right to you, but if I wanted to see douche bags sitting on the couch playing Call of Duty I'd just go to the local frat house. They have many pool tables for the active drunk, an outside patio if you're a smoking drunk, and plenty of seating which didn't stop me from once sitting on the floor. Long story. Echo wearers beware: the bouncers are not kidding when they say no cargo pants. It's not Nam. We live in Sac, so unless your hiding a shiv, please dress accordingly

we were scorned from the shady lady and these people took great care of our group of 35 one night. they make great drink and the service was fast and courteous and the food is cafe bernardos, so what can i say? awesome! best bar food and good atmosphere. not stuffy, just cool. we had fun! thanks R15

Went here on a Saturday night, but I think I came a little too early. A couple friends and I got here around 830ish. Thus, the bar was still pretty dead. The look of the bar is cool. I like the fact that they have a bar area/seating area, as well as private rooms to hang out in, and pool tables. I was kinda bummed out that they didn't have pay-per view, since they're a bar I thought that they would be playing the big fight for that night. But, no luck. We sat down at a table, and our waitress was pretty rude. She asked if we were gonna order food, and we said no, thus stating that she was only going to take our orders for our first round of drinks. And when she came back, she was rushing us to sign our bills because she wanted to leave already. Very rude. I still think I'd come back and check out the bar at it's peak time. Although, I am worried that I won't find parking anywhere close, especially since Empire is right next door.

I just effin' love this place. I haven't been able to take full advantage of it just yet since I'm always there with coworkers or casual acquaintances and I don't particularly want to show them what happens when I find out about $2 pints of PBR. However, the outdoor seating is ideal for people watching, getting drunk and loud, and going out with bigger groups. And smoking. I love smoking. I think the bartenders here are very sweet and the waitresses are nothing short of amazing. They're so chit chatty that I actually traded numbers with one the last time I was there! Even the premium drafts are okay priced and they have pool tables and good jams on the radio. This whole complex rocks my ass off since I saw my fave show ever right next door and on the other side is one of my favorite breakfast spots. I could pretty much live in the back yard if it weren't for the traffic/train noise. I wish the happy hour menu were a little more extensive. Like some cheap appetizers and discounted premium drafts. The end.

  • John M.

This place is dirty and the customer service is severely lacking. I felt like the waitstaff was just going through the motions. They did not clear some other people's dirty dishes and glasses for over an hour while I was playing pool, and they definitely did not bother to wipe down tables after people left. Two of the four pool tables were not working and no one was available to even try to fix them.

Bar tenders here are quick, efficient, and respectable. Thanks for the great service every time.

    (5)
  • Stash B.

The ratio of bartenders to people needs to improve drastically. It's impossible to get a drink. Other wise the music is decent if you like top 40 and you can always spill over into Cafe Bernardo if there is no room near the bar.

  • Matt B.

R15 is a decent bar in what is now a fun little area in downtown Sacramento. I always have a decent experience at R15, without it ever being much better than than. The bar is large however this makes it difficult to get served at times and there is not much in the way of seating. Overall it is not a bad place to stop in for a drink but I never feel like staying much longer than that.

    (3)
  • Rick W.

I just had brunch at Cafe Bernardo and R15 was right next to the cafe. I stumbled into this place to check it out, maybe get a beer or two and I was impressed with its inside. I supposedly think it's a bar or lounge at night. So I was on my way to the one of the private lounge rooms to hang out and play some Xbox, I passed by the DJ booth with its turn table on the second floor overseeing the floor. I noticed it was empty and was tempted to put on a show for the lucky fellows below chilling on a hot Sunday afternoon. The booth was empty, and I thought it would be nice to put on a lil show. Back to the review, This place has a relaxing vibe to chill in, they have huge plasma tv everywhere and couple of brand new pool tables. It's a shame this place is in Sacramento, or it would have rock. It's a slick pad.

R15 is like the Monkey Bar to the Cafe Bernardo on Capital only better and less crowded. When R15 first opened, I figured they would be littered with the riff rafts from Empire next door but it is not the case with a decent mixed crowd - at least not the gun toting belligerent idiots we been hearing about that frequent down/midtown bars and clubs these days. I like coming here for Saturday & Sunday morning football especially when you can get one of the two cubby holes, it just makes up for the service when you order from Cafe Bernardo (another seperate review). Since it is first come first serve, you have to be there early or prepare to stalk for it. It may not have as many different games on simultaneously as the other places, I have to say it is a fair compromise for decent food in this genre. The drink selection is pretty wide from cheap PBR to premium, bottled & drafts but best of all, they serve pitchers. The only complaint I have is the acoustics of the place (excluding the cubby hole) can get pretty bad with the sound bouncing everywhere that resulted in the sound from the television being exaggeratedly loud.

Dear reviewers that don't like R15, Don't leave the house in mid-town... are people ass clowns? Chicks sluts? Yes, yes blah blah. The only people worse than the frat rejects, drunk/drugged wanna-be-rockers and stone cold tramps that roll through Sac are the people that stay in Sac and want it to change... Truths in life: Grass is green Water is wet Sac is full of lame people (save about 15 of you) So, here is a place that at least tries to cater to everyone... even your Antelope ass... just suck it up and join them or move. Don't ride into hell and exclaim: "it is too hot."

R15 is not bad. I came here wanting to watch another basketball game besides the Kings and they already had it on one TV. 10 TVs downstairs and some pool tables. Lots of beautiful people and the bartenders really seem to have their act together. I would like to see more microbrews on draft.

This place took a while for me to like. At first I liked it a lot, then it was OK, now I like it again, haha. I know what to expect now. Kick ass videos on at night. Gets packed. Tons of testosterone, Im just saying. I just roll with my friends there and make space. It's close to Shady Lady, and other favorite bars, and even my pad. Another plus.

The great thing about R15 is its proximity to Shady Lady Saloon and Burgers & Brew. This whole block is amazing. Want some good food? Burgers and Brew. Want a good talk and great beer? I was in Sac-Town for a visit last weekend and wanted to experience some nightlife on Friday. I was told to go to The Park - which I wasn't totally sure of whether it was a bar or an actual park. (keep in mind im ALWAYS down for 40z in the park). After being turned away because I wasn't "dressed to impress, bro" - I was kind of at a loss for where to go next. A buddy suggested R15...and we were off. Now, I live in San Francisco, where the 'Smug' runs pretty thick, and restaurant/wine/bar snobbery is off the richter, so you might be anticipating a "not as cool as _________ bar in SF." No...this places was "hella" cool, and I will definitely come back next time I go to Sac. Good drinks, good buzz, random Britney Spears look-a-likes(current Britney, not 1999 Britney...but whatever) handing out cupcakes, nice pool tables, and little side rooms with flat screens and xbox 360's I heard you can rent. Sac-Town...THIS IS NOT A DIVE! Go to your dive on tuesday night...Got to R15 on Friday...you might, you know, have fun.

The only major downside to R15 is that it can become pretty hard to find a pool table after 10 pm. However, once you find a table R15 is a pretty fun place. Oh, and the bar is next to Empire, so that also might be a problem with all the drunk youngsters trying to act tough.

  • Erinn L.

I like this place. At least, well, I like it enough. It's easier to get me here than say Hangar 17 (which I once very loudly, rudely, and obnoxiously announced to several people sitting within earshot *at* Hangar 17 was The Lamest Bar Ever. Or something like that. They don't have Jameson and they play hip-hop music. I ask...just what is there to like?) Anywho. I like the design of R15. I like the cheap drinks. I like the very friendly staff that is not at all full of themselves and some are quite-quite hot. I like that the bar is all padded underneath so I can put my knees up into it. I like that the pool tables have plenty of room because that one time every ten years I play a round it'll really matter. I also like the calamari and that they have a biiiiig bathroom. I like the pretty red lights. I like that (and this might be rumor) they let people guest DJ with their iPods. I like that there is ample room outside for smokers. I like that around Halloween Harry Potter was on the TV. I like that this is a happy medium for friends who aren't big on dives and people like me who love dives can all be reasonably comfortable. The crowd does change later in the evening and cycles into That Certain Crowd I don't like because I'm a snob. But I'm trying to learn to deal with it better because, well, I'm just trying to work on that whole "judgmental" thing and just cuz someone looks like a stripper it doesn't mean they are. Whatever, there was still a lot of bleached hair and bad skin. But that's the other thing I like about R15...a hop, skip, and a jump from Monte. ETA: No offense to strippers, I respect and like them. I just lack the proper description for That Type that seems pretty prevalent around here.

$6 martinis!!! You can't beat that! I ordered a cherry lemondrop with a sugar rim and it was delicious. The bartender was super friendly. The crowd was mixed. I went around 6pm and there were people dressed in button downs and slacks as well as jeans. If I am ever in the area, I'd go back.

Sometimes a quick beer is not enough to rate a place. The unique set up of the small rooms which have flat screens and couches is really cool. You can watch a game with a date in a secluded setting. You can also watch in the pool room. I think the Sierra Nevada keg was a bit stale, but I will come back for another try.

    (3)
  • Milan J.

I dig the set-up. The bar area is unique, billiards are a plus and the make-out rooms are great. Food is above average in bar terms. However, the bartender used a fucking measuring shot-glass to make cocktails. I HATE when they do that. He didn't even fill it to the top.

Played pool, had some private rooms with plasmas. extra star for the bartender for giving us an extra drink on the house.

This is an up-scale dive bar, yeah I know that's an oxymoron, but seriously compared to other local bars this place is upscale. There is no pretentious feeling about the crowd, the bartenders, or the decor. This is a plus for when one wants to come hang out, still be seen, yet not like you feel it's a fashion show. Gotta give it up to the bartenders for each and every drink I had, I do mean each drink, I felt like I got my money's worth. I had Grey Goose Tonic's all night long with my friends there and some friends we made there. Each time I got one or my brother got one, we had to ask each other, is it me or that drink just hella strong. The drink was just made strong and perfect. All my friends who ordered drinks had the same reaction, just to give you a bigger sample. The scene and crowd were cool, not too bougie and just the right flavor of kick it. The music at first wasn't my thing, but when they switched it up to some more R&B, I was felt better and more at ease, but I liked the place despite the music at first. The outdoor patio is cool and pretty warm, even on a sac night, which is a plus. The billiards area seemed like a pool shark haven, so be careful of any pickup games. I just wish I got here before 10, to order some appetizers with my drinks. So to review: 1) Strong well made drinks 2) Good vibe from the folks 3) Good decor 4) Fairly Spacey 5) A definite revisit

Double Sapphire's and tonic at a reasonable prices and pool tables. Thats all I can really ask for. And R15 delivered. Even better was the lack of a crowd, granted, it was a Wednesday, so thats not too surprising, but I do enjoy a bar that I can go to and not feel like I have to wade through a sea of people.

Love this place. Plenty of security, tunes, tvs, and pool tables. The drinks are reasonably priced. As long as it isn't too crowded, it is usually awesome. I had a bartender (Theo or Theon) who was very cool and chatted him up a bit before the place started getting packed. Great place to watch sports or grab a bite to eat and a drink.

Seriously any place that offers Happy Hour 7 days a week is on my happy list. Only $2 for anything well and several domestic beers. The food from the main restaurant is always good. Especially the griddled ham and cheese, and chow mein noodle dish. I wasn't too much of a fan of the bbq pork sliders, but I would eat them if they were in front of me. The onion rings are awesome, fried calamari ok. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful, although occasionally I've had slow service, but that is rare. My husband and his friends love the fact they have video game rooms where we can all sit and they can play Madden.

I agree with a lot of what FATMAN said, esp "All the strengths of a dive bar and none of the weaknesses" . The atmosphere is comfortable to watch a game, get your drink on, play some pool, Xbox or just chat with a couple people. I always have a good time when coming here and has kinda become my go to spot with friends. Decent prices on drinks (prices used to be outstanding, but they have gone up since opening) considering the venue, pool tables, good food to nibble on (spicy peanuts and onion strings are addicting) for a couple bucks. The old Sac Bees by the bathroom are pretty cool...the one of RE Graswich at the age of like 21 cracks me up. I'd say it's a 4 star place, but it gets an extra star from me for being 3 blocks from my place. Nothing finer than a night out with friends and a 3-5 minute walk home afterward.

R15 is one of the Paragary's joints and shares a building w/ Cafe Bernardo. And with daily happy hour from 4-7.. Mon-Sun $2 wells and $2 domestic drafts (Coors/Bud) you can't go wrong. Food at Bernardo's is excellent, and R15 is huge, plenty of booths. Game rooms for Xbox fans to play for free. 4 stars instead of 5 because they only serve food till 10.

I like the Bernardo's part of R15. It's a good place for breakfast on the weekends - they know how to make a creamy soy latte and there is a nice variety of breakfast items to choose from. We have been looking around for a good place in Sacramento outside of Tower and have been happy with R 15. The service in the bar area could be a little more attentive, but overall it's not a bad experience. Reviewing the bar alone, I would give two. The reason I would give the bar two has nothing to do with who goes there to be seen going there. I meet people there after work a couple times a month. I generally order a Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic. Very simple, the easiest drink in the world. On three occasions that I can recall, I have had to take my drink back because the tonic water has been flat. Each time, the bartender tries the tonic, says something like, "You're right, I'm so sorry," and replaces the drink. The last time it happened, the bartender poured a cheap gin in my make-up drink. I politely asked for the quality I originally ordered and got my drink without comment from the bartender. The food saves R15. There are the details like pouring a good drink and service that keep it at three stars.

Had brunch here this past Sunday and really enjoyed it. Cheap, good food, attentive staff, clean and good drinks. The outdoor seating area is very nice and I really like what they've done with the block.

Great bartenders. Mostly naturally/locally raised food and apps. Can turn into a bit of a meat market on the weekends but if you get there early or anytime during the week, its a nice place to play pool, have a couple drinks and relax. Within biking distance of Midtown so I spend some time here nearly once a week. Cool beats from what looks to be an iMac turned iPod. Lots of TVs with sports. little lounges where you can hang with your crew, watch a game or play a game. the dark cavernous interior is SOO Easy on the eyes when your hungover and grabbing a little hair of the dog on Sunday. Good times!

This review is for the bar area only. This place has been remodeled a few times, and I think this last morph is for the better (layout-wise). It's pretty open, lots of seating (inside avail, inside booth, stools, bar table), plasma TVs (all showing sport or Fuel channel), large U shaped bar, decent selection of beers, and good service. During my visit, it wasn't very busy, so plenty of seating. Good mix of boys-to-girls... mostly 30-40 yr olds (but I think it's a younger crowd on weekend nights)... cold beer. Place looked clean. Not sure if the crowd is the uppity type or not... but it didn't look to friendly. One interesting thing was the pool table area... looked like they had either two or four... but there was also a couple of TV rooms with a sofa and plasma. Not sure if you could change the channel or not... but the concept is pretty cool. Hits: Clean, full bar, lots of seating, lots of TV, nice location Misses: Street parking only, customers maybe a little uppity for a sports/pool hall bar

My parents (whom I do everything with because I'm a dork, have no friends in Sac, like them to buy me food, etc) read somewhere that R15 was *the* new place to drink in Sacramento. Last weekend they wanted to try somewhere other than their usual haunts so we decided to check out R15. From the outside R15 looks like 90% of the new buildings in Sacramento. A style of architecture and design that reminds me of new University of CA buildings. Is it cheap? Energy efficient? I'm not sure, but I suspect we will regret it in 10-15 years. Inside, R15 was okay. The lighting was dark and red. My mom and I were literally the only women in the bar for most of the time we were there. Thus, we were subject to the harassment of a random drunk guy with some sort of fake accent. Our food (cooked at Bernardo next door), was decent, but my steak was decidedly medium+ and not the medium rare I'd requested. It was cheap though. All the food seemed reasonable. Oh, and our drinks were yummy. I had their Maker's Manhattan and after two of them I was having a hard time sitting at their tall bar stools. PS-I feel like I might be missing another entry for R15 because I have a hard time believing that nobody has reviewed it yet. Someone let me know if I'm being a spaz (it wouldn't be the first time).

Borderlines on a dive bar but not quite there. Nothing upscale about it. I've been here a handful of times and there has always been guys yelling and arm wrestling and doing the usual crap I don't really feel like being around. On a Monday night I met up with my friend here. Had a couple of pbr's, smoked on the spacious patio. They have pool tables here as well. It's not bad and it's not good. I've never had the food here, but since they're connected to Cafe Bernardos it can't be that bad right? I'd come here again if my friends are here.

Decent bar in the R st. corridor, but just a little far to be on the frequently visited bar list. Beer selection is standard and if you get bored you can watch the wide screen TVs. Would rather drink beer a few doors down at Burgers and Brew.

I still like this place but the Heirloom pizza is gone!!! I have no idea why, it was so delicious. They do have a bbq chicken pizza that I like. But seriously that Heirloom tomatoe pizza was the bomb.

Pros: tons of plasma TV's, cool music, good (albeit pricey) food, great service, pool tables, semi-private rooms with couches and TV's Cons: next to Empire (which apparently is ghetto with a capital G), $$$ food As you walk in, there is a central bar area surrounded by TV's. Past the bar forward is Cafe Bernardo (never tried it). To your left is a pool table room with its own TV's with small rooms in the right wall, each with its own couch and TV (and apparently Xbox's or something too if you ask). All in all, the decor is laid-back modern and clean. They don't have a lot on tap (Sierra Nevada, Blue Moon, forgot the rest), but they seem to stock on the usual suspects (Amstel Light, domestics, etc) and they have a club-level selection of the hard stuff. The food is also very good but you will pay for it, the chuck burger is my fave although the reuben was nice and greasy also. Reading some of these reviews was a bit startling...but i thought i'd throw in my 2 cents... as a disclaimer I want to say that I am within walking distance of this place so that definitely elevates it. However, I'd have to say that I've always had a positive experience with the bartenders in that they are very attentive and quick - I think the traditional rule of bars applies here...if it's busy, expect certain things (i.e. timely drinks and courtesy) to be harder to get. That being said, I've never had a problem and the crowd seems to be an easygoing mix of local neighborhood peeps and your after 5-pm wear-my-tie-to-the-bar-to-impress-girls crowd. The TV's also make it a great place to catch a game and they're more than happy to accommodate you if you request a game that's not playing (also, one of the bartenders is a cool guy despite being a true-blue Boston fan - this is an incredibly rare thing). Give this place a shot if you want to go with some friends or meet up with a date or just don't have cable TV for a week b/c comcast is the devil (as was my case last week).

What the hell Randy? Sammie Chu's and Ikon's failures didn't teach you anything? R15 is in a tough spot, literally. Aside from one of the only southern facing patios (read: sunny in the winter and spring) in town, this place has some of the most consistently bad service in Sacramento. I won't bore you with intimate details, but in the past I have waited 45 minutes for a cup of coffee, had my waffle forgotten/lost, and yesterday, while eight of us sat on the patio day drinking for the third week in a row, had to close our tab 3 times as they cut staff. We keep going back, and save for Henry, Addy and Monique(?) it is nearly always a tragedy. It was so slow (business wise) they sent staff home, but there were several times during the day we actually said aloud, "just who and where is our waitress?" Al, the bartender, when asked if he would be waiting on us, replied "yeah I'll be behind the bar if you need me" MADNESS! Our quesadilla sat for 45 minutes before he thought to ask us if it was ours, and in his defense he comped us the cold one, but really? You screw up that bad, you comp both! I am a veteran day drinker, I tip 20 percent every time! This is crap. My tab was $65 bucks and I was one of three tabs for chrissakes. If you have a tolerance for bad service/management, it's ok, but really, how long will they survive living on the Monkey and the adjoining Bernardo's coattails? THEY have good service, so what's the deal?

R15 is one of my favorite bars in town... I guess I'd consider it my "go-to" bar. It's one of the places where you can go if you feel like just getting a drink, don't wanna dress up, or wanna meet up with some friends and shoot pool or watch the game. It's connected to Cafe Bernardo (operated under the same company--Paragary's) and they serve food from their kitchen. Happy hours here are decent, but nothing particularly enticing. I believe they serve $2 domestic drafts and wells from 3-7PM. At night, you won't usually have a problem getting in although it's usually packed on weekends. I've had to wait in line once to get in. The crowd is diverse: you've got your barely legal college kids, a few midtown hipsters, suburbanites on their way to the club, and sometimes you'll spot a cougar or two. There's a billiards room and two rooms equipped with a flat screen and some video games. The bartenders are cool; they're usually efficient in getting drinks, usually. There's a smoking patio in the front of the bar with plenty of seating and heat lamps(!!!). It's pretty much everything you could ask for in a dive or neighborhood bar (minus the mer-people).

I went here a couple months ago for happy hour. It was good time, but they didn't have enough bartenders for Happy hour (1). Prices weren't bad, but service wasn't great either (total props for the hot girl working the bar, though). I'd go back. It's a pretty legit bar, it seems.

I have to admit I don't go to Sac a lot. I'm not a fan of Sac. Sac is too hot for me. But I had a taste of the Sacramento night life on a really slow night. Which is perfect for me! Not a lot of people. Really chill. Nice bartenders. Pool hall is neat. Outdoor seating on a perfect Sunday night. Had a PBR. It was just chill. I might have to go Sac more often.

R15 seems to be my McClaren's/Central Perk. If my life were a sit-com, this would be our hangout spot. I have never had a bad time here. I've been here on Wednesday nights when there's just a handful of people and I've been here on Friday/Saturday nights when the place is bursting at the seams. The prices are great! $2 drafts and $3 wells? I'm there. The music they play is pretty random, but then again so are the mix of people that show up here...now that I think about it, what they show on the flat screens is random too. Sure they have sports on a couple, but last Saturday they had Gullah Gullah Island and some show showing a naked dude being chased by cops...how random...

This place is alright. I'm not really into the bar hopping scene, and I tend to steer away from places that are too trendy or date rapey. R15 doesn't fall into either one of those categories. The drinks were kind of expensive, and the wine selection could have better, but the goat cheese pizza I tasted was pretty good. The atmosphere is not overly friendly, but I would definately go back again just to rent one of those private rooms with the Playstations!

I go back to Sactown every now and then. When I do, I go to R15 at least once and I'd say that this place is pretty solid - a few pool tables, some private nooks with tvs, and cheap drinks. Zack at the bar does a great job making drinks. As for dress attire, as in almost everywhere in Sac, it is casual, jeans.

I love going to R15. They always have good drink prices. I love the ambience. It is not clubish but not a dive. A nice in between place to meet up with friends for happy hour or late at night. Is always a go to when I am not up for trying something new.

I like red shit. This place is plenty red. The private rooms with complementary Halo 3 and Guitar Hero are also cool. It's about the only place in town where you can fit in wearing a wifebeater or a sports jacket. Not so cool are the inattentive bartenders. Still, they make a decent mojito.

Fun, dark, and always someone you know coming through. Champagne Tuesdays feature $5 bottles of Brut for ladies - brilliant! Thursdays proudly showcase the DJ talent of Nick Avey, who knows what's going on. It isn't the best place to dance, but definitely a bar to get the night started.

Before this weekend, I had only been here once before. However, me and my friends ended up going there both Friday and Saturday night, and we didn't regret it. The place might be a little small for the number of people who are there, but that wasn't a huge concern of mine. This place has pretty cheap drinks in comparison to other "trendy" bars in Sacramento, and the girls there are HOT. The only things I didn't really like were that #1: the parking situation can get a little hectic because you have to park out on the street and compete for a spot with not only the R15 crowd but the Empire crowd as well. And #2 the bartender seemed to be ignoring me because he served three or four people before he got to me, even though I was there before all of them. Overall though, not a bad place....WAY better than the Monkey Bar.

unless someone can tell me of a better place, R15 is my favorite bar in mid-town / downtown Sac to watch NFL games on Sunday morning. Good drink prices on Sunday morning, when most of the 21-30 year old crowd is still sleeping and hungover.

The bar is a pretty cool place to hang out with friends! They have great drinks and tons of cute boys! :) That's always important! Although ********THERE MANAGEMENT SUCKS*********** one female manager kicked my friend out because she was made because my friend is dating her ex-bf. NOT CUTE. When my friend complained to the owner, he sounded sympathetic but did not remand the manager! It is a chill place to go as long as you aren't screwing the caddy manager's ex-man! :)

I've been to R15 many times and only once have I ever been there and not left thinking how snobby and unattentive the bartenders are. I leave with the intention never to go back, but I have several friend's who like the place/live nearby so when I do end up returning I'll tell myself I was probably just overreacting, but when I get there, the bartenders are snobby and unattentive. The food is not worth the price and the little dark rooms near the pool tables kind of creep me out. I wish I could remember the name of the bartender who was working last time I was there; he was awesome. For him, I almost changed my rating to 2-stars. Almost...

I happen to like this place a lot. The people are friendly, the cute to ugly girl ratio is on the better side, the beer is cheaper than most places downtown and you can dress however the fuck you want to dress. My favorite thing about this place. I always have a good time when I come with my friends or even solo.

Wow, ok, I finally tried their Chopped Salad. To Die For! I also hate to share this but it really is the best place for Happy Hour Drinks. $2 well and most draft beers. Can't beat that. Also, once again, I have to rave about their Bartenders. They are always consistant. Same guys. Same GREAT SERVICE! If you are a new bartender, I suggest you go down there and get a few pointers. They are always watching your drink to make sure you don't go dry (even during happy hour), they let you know they will be right with you ( I am more than willing to wait, if you just acknowledge me, which alot of bartenders seem to have horse blinders on, even when you are waiving cash in their face), Food, no problem, alway ready to serve. If more bartenders would realize that service will get you more tips, they would be making alot more tips. Hey, don't let bartending go to your head. You are only as good as the place you work. Meaning, don't forget, the owners of the establishment provide you with the best alcohol to serve to (your customers, LOL), they provide the electricity, entertainment and great food. So, think again, when you decide to claim that next customer as yours. Sorry, I am just going off of experience from running a bar myself. We love bartenders with personality but come on, let's keep things in perspective and work as a team. It will be good for you and your Job.

The drinks are cheap and full of alcohol. The bartenders are friendly and quick. Looks like a lounge but is not snobby at all. I love alll the plasmas around the place and the pool tables are great. I haven't played on one yet because there is always people waiting. Has a great outdoor area to smoke and hang out, but now thats its getting colder more people are staying inside. I try to bring my lounge loving friends there because I hate cover charges.

I went on a weeknight. It wasn't exactly dead, but it wasn't really hoppin', either. The vibe was Deja Vu - imagine that. I didn't get the point of all the televisions. The place isn't loud, but it's certainly not quiet. How can you watch things on TV through the noise of the bar? All that occured to me was what a waste of money. I missed Icon's comfortable lounge space upstairs. I am not sure why they changed that. They didn't appear to need the extra dining space. One interesting thing they did was turn two small spaces into two "caves", as termed by the bartender assisting us. I think this is what they mean by saying they have "two living rooms" on their website. Cave is a much more apt description. Each cave has a big couch and a television. You can borrow an x-box and games from the bartender, or get them to change the channel on the television for you so you can watch anything you want. All this sounds great, and it was fun, but we ended up being completely ignored while we were in the cave, even though the server had said she would get us anything we needed. Even though it was a relatively quiet night, I felt like I had to beg for assistance to make any changes to the television channel or x-box game. So, we didn't. But it wasn't as much fun as it could have been as a result. Pool is $1/game, which is fairly reasonable. Drinks were not high-end but definitely not cheap. The spicy peanuts are AWESOME, and at only $2 for a hefty serving, well worth it.

Staff seems to remember peoples names and seem more friendly than most bars. Pool tables and video game rooms are great. If you want to go out and get a drink without a crowd during the early weekdays this is your spot. Good place to lose $20! 60% not suck rating on suckramento.com

i was up in sac last weekend and we went out for sushi and then to here, and this place was kind of cool. we got some drinks, watched some pool playing, watched this crazy ufc fight where this guy's ear basically exploded. the bar is cool but needs more seating. we had to flirt with ppl playing pool so we could sit at their table... which is kind of inconvenient.
