Best resturant ever. Love the service and the workers there. Food was good and there was a good amount of it too.

We just moved to the Pocket neighborhood and love sushi. One of the greatest parts about this restaurant is you can completely order online and go pick it up when you are ready. We like to eat at home and this is really convenient (no phone call necessary). I love their bento boxes and haven't had anything that wasn't up to par. I try to diversify my order and am always satisfied.

Come back to oceansushi on Saturday night. It is busy, but we did'nt need to wait too long. Sushi chef Tony make us some special.wo...so yummy. Remember, tell the waiter you want chef special.

I was appalled by the "sashimi" I was served in the tuna roll I ordered as part of my dinner. It was ground up fish, which was tasteless and when I realized it was not sashimi, I lost my appetite and could not finish the rest of the meal, no matter how genuine it may or may not have been. I just left. Two stars is giving the benefit of the doubt.

I live across the street from this restaurant and have been here a few times. I love their sushi, the Linda mar is my favorite! In the beginning the service was a little slow, but over the months they have gotten a lot better. I recently came here with my husband and a few friends and they gave us a complementary plate of the fire cracker roll. It was extremely good and I love their miso soup. I will be coming back soon!

This was my first sushi experience so I may not be the best reviewer. But as someone who has completely avoided sushi at all cost, you might appreciate it. We went with others who are well versed in sushi cuisine and followed their orders. The sushi was delicious. NO fishy smell or taste, obviously fresh. The sauces and rolls were scrumptious and the presentations were extremely inviting. The server was cheerful and friendly. She was more than happy to help a novice such as myself. No sake bombs, but she helped us create one! We had a very nice time! I will definitely have sushi again! I may only come back to Ocean Sushi as I feel safe with the food here and the staff really helped me make good selections!

Basic sushi. I've had better from bel air across the street. Like 10 rolls total and they are not great. At all. After asking for them to take the most disgusting item that two of us spit out off the bill. They said they can't. I would have two stars. But no way.

Love this restaurant! We were faithful Ginza diners until one day Ginza unexpectedly closed. Boy, were we sad. Until Ocean Sushi opened. My family of four eats there at least 1-2 times per month. We usually get takeout and the food is always hot, fresh, and ready to go at the designated time. Since we order a lot, they always throw in free stuff. - rainbow rolls, or edamame, or the like. The staff is always friendly and will help carry food to your car if needed. Personally I love the crab wontons (they're HUGE!) and the tempura. We will continue eating here frequently as everyone in the family loves it.

If I could eat here seven days a week I would. As it is I'm here once a week. Always great, friendly service. Very attentive. The edamame is crisp and flavorful. I love the Phoenix roll. The Sunset Strip is great. The Volcano Roll is delicious. The Rainbow Roll is perfect. I'm working my way through the menu. The fish is very fresh as is the rice and Miso. I know this place will grow in popularity and for them I will be happy. I just hope I don't ever have to wait for a table because once I walk in there, I want to eat! Love Ocean Sushi.

We came here to celebrate my mom getting a new job. My family had been going to the previous Japanese restaurant in this location for years and loved them. So, we figured we would give the new kids a shot. The area has been in need of a good Japanese restaurant of sometime but I'm not sure if this is quite what we needed. The food was okay nothing amazing about it, just your normal meeh sushi place. I think the one thing that really got me was the miso soup, it was def. the worst I've ever had and for being a staple in any Japanese restaurant to start a meal with that is sad!

Just walked out after waited 40 mins patiently for our lunch that never arrived! Waitress did not apologize or even acknowledge the unacceptable delay! We simply order sashimi and a lunch bento, neither should have taken long to prepare. Shame on you Ocean Sushi!

I always order delivery from this place, because they include miso soup and salad with take out! I usually get their donburi and its very flavorful, tried their combination dinner for the first time today and I was not disappointed. Their sesame chicken are more like chunks of deep fried chicken with sesame ginger sauce, which is delicious! We've also been there for happy hour a few times. You can't really beat their hh prices: 1.50 beer. Bf usually get hand rolls and sushi, he said they were okay, but he preferred the kitchen items more than their sushi. While the food is not outstandingly good, it hits the spot and the servers are all very friendly.

My wife and were in the mood for some sushi and drank and we luckily had an hour or two before we needed to get our kids. So, in order to maximize our time together we decided to eat within a few miles of our daycare. That left us with known choices (Sushi Cafe and Akebono on Freeport, and Banzai in the Pocket) and new place to try: Ocean. We walked in and were immediately alarmed by the lack of patrons and, worse, the lack of a sushi bar. In fact, the lack of a sushi bar almost caused us to get up from our table and head out to Akebono. We decided to stay and try some basic nigiri and if was bad--leave. We ordered a few orders of Salmon and Tuna. The pieces of fish were very cold, but good. So, we ordered a few rolls and some sashimi (don't remember the fish). Afterwards we agreed that while it wasn't fantastic, it was good enough to be our local, quick sushi joint.

I would give this place 5 stars if we only had the appetizers. The spicy fried squid on skewers were really really good! Also had cream cheese won tons and they didn't skimp out on the crab meat. That was another good appetizer. Then came out sushi. We ordered the Snow White roll, which was reccommended by a yelper. The shrimp tempura was overcooked and had no flavor. Next was the heat roll (one of their daily specials) and it did not fulfill its name. More sweet than heat. Service was ok. I would go back just to have the fried squid.

10/8/14 Never knew what a bento box was until here. It's super awesome that's what it is...lol It's like a combo box of goodness. Went to this place for lunch to see what it was all about. I decided to get a combo box with a California roll and teriyaki chicken. It comes with a salad, rice, and miso soup. All for $8, a great deal. I will say the roll, soup, and salad super tasty. The teriyaki chicken with the rice was just ok for me. I wish I had picked something else, but at least I know for the future. I would like to go back and dine in and try their menu out a little more. But this to go order was pretty good for the price.

Delicious food excellent service and fair prices! I always get the 3 item bento box and a side of firecracker rolls. The salmon is delightfully cooked and very fresh. I'm not sure where some of these bad reviews come from but this place is one of the best in Pocket. This place and Banzai are the best spots for sushi

Food is not bad and service is good as well. You can get decent bento boxes and sushi here but not as fresh as I would like. Nothing was bad I'm just a regular sushi eater with Hawaiian roots so I'm used to a higher quality of fish.

I think I'm a regular by now I have eaten at Ocean Sushi many times. Small neighborhood place with nice staff and friendly atmosphere. Happy hour rolls are half off!!! Try shrimp tempura roll it's outstanding!! Selection of adult beverages is lacking with only 2 beers offered and chard, merlot and Cabernet wine available. Worth a visit. I will be back!

  • Alice A.

I lived right in the neighborhood and it never crossed my mind to dine here...until now. I mean, what could I possibly order that wasn't just an avocado roll? Not that I don't like avocado, rice, and seaweed- I actually love them a lot, but to my surprise, the menu was quite vegan friendly! For sushi, they had a separate section for Vegetarian plates. The tempura rolls are vegan since they do not use egg in their batter :) The "unagi" sauce is also free of any eel or fish (unagi = eel). The only two items Vegans need to worry about are the "tamago" nigiri and "futomaki" roll because they both contain egg (tamago = egg). However I am sure you can get your "futomaki" roll customized without it. So me and my SO decided to try out all the rolls they had to offer: Sweet Potato Tempura Roll, Eggplant Nigiri, Garden Roll, Avocado Roll (just had to!), Inari, and Vegetable Tempura Roll. (I originally wanted the String Bean Tempura roll since it was so unusual to see it on a sushi menu, but they were out when we went.) After taking a bite, wow, why didn't I come here sooner? The rice was fluffy, the tempura was fried perfectly, and the ingredients were well-put together. The Eggplant Nigiri was my favorite: a giant slab of grilled eggplant with their special sauce on top of sushi rice. It was a challenge to eat it in one go since it was so large, but it was a yummy two-bites! I did not get to try their other veggie options like Vegetable Ramen, but the restaurant seems promising. The waitress was so sweet and helpful. I am happy to have Ocean Sushi in the area, excellent service and food, I definitely will come back!

I've only been here once. The place is definitely better than Gina, clean dishes and better tasting dishes. The sushi is good, not the best but definitely not the worst. If you're in the area, crave sushi, and you're too lazy to drive, then stop by here!

  • Tung L.

I really wanted to like this place it's nice, clean and the staff was friendly.. If we were to base food off of pictures this place would be a solid 3.5 or even 4. The lunch Sashimi looked great! Until you actual took a bite. Strong and fishy after taste. I hope they can take all the negative reviews and turn it around in their favor. I'm rooting for you Ocean sushi!

Sushi was good. Since we was here over a year ago I was was pleasantly surprised that the sushi and service have improved. I might eat here again...convenience is one of the main reasons.

Soooooooo sad to see our neighborhood Japanese restaurants retire. We were regulars at Ginza.....BUTTTT! I'm sooo happy this place opened back up! So it's new owners but pretty much the same menu and same prices. Renovated the atmosphere a little but still generally the same! Funny story my grams knows these owners too...so special treatment and special sushi!!! Mmm Mmm Mmm! Food is still delicious and Japanese is Japanese to me. No complaints. The sashimi was even up to par! Ginza was my yearly birthday spot and now Ocean Sushi will be for coming years!

More suitable if you're dining amongst company. Unfortunately, this lone wolf didn't have the pack to make this affordable. Food: My fingers were crossed hoping for a satisfying meal of artery-clogging Americanized sushi here since I used to live within walking distance. Sadly, that hope was only partially met. I ordered the California and the super dynamite rolls ( yelp.com/biz_photos/ocea… ). These were some of the cheaper items on the menu, but the prices were much higher than what you'd find elsewhere, namely Banzai just a few miles away. The California rolls tasted fine, but were sort of a ripoff for what you get. I did enjoy the blend of spicy, salty, crunchy, and umami flavors neatly packaged into the dynamite roll, but again, it was a bit pricey for what you get. If your order exceeds a certain amount they'll give you some bonus items like the firecracker roll, but I wasn't about to shell out an extra 20 bucks just to get a freebie. The sushi at Banzai is not only beefier, but also cheaper. I'd check them out first before coming here. Atmosphere: I didn't dine in, but this place is in a strip mall next to the Pocket Bel-Air Market. As you can imagine, it's not that fancy. Still, they did a good job decorating given the small space. Service: I phoned an order in and picked up. Even so, I found the staff sort of gruff. Synopsis: Too expensive, especially when you have Banzai down the street! It's probably more affordable if you have a family and can get all of the free dishes for larger orders, but if you're a singleton like me you'll have to cough up the dough for mediocre sushi.

I've seen this place in the shopping center, and I always wanted to go and try this place. It's close by my house and I like sushi. Now there's a huge sign on the front with free delivery and happy hour. I called in to find out about their happy hour. Happy hour is from 11:30-2:30pm Mon-Thursday, so I made my way here on Thursday during lunch happy hour. It's an odd time for happy hour but I am not going to complain! Happy hour is dine-in only. So I ordered from the happy hour menu, I ordered two rolls and the sashimi. My parents ordered the bento boxes. When the food came out, we were surprised by the freshness and quality. For the price, this isn't too shabby! I enjoyed the sashimi and I enjoyed the rolls. The wait staff is very courteous and nice. The guy waitstaff does not speak any English, I tried asking him a question and he smiled and didn't know how to respond or he seemed confused. We ordered bunch of food and when we looked at the bill, it was definitely a steal! I hope to come back to this place during happy hour. I probably would come back during non-happy hour because the prices are still reasonable during non-happy hour,

This is the second sushi restaurant in the Pocket.( the other being Banzai) We used to be regulars at Banzai, but their service is so horrible, we switched. Ocean has some inventive rolls, and while the sushi isn't as fancy as at Banzai, the prices are about half and they have GREAT SERVICE and huge portions. A Bento box with 9 pieces of sushi, miso soup, salad, rice Is only $11.95. 11.95! That's the price of ONE sushi roll at Banzai. This is by the Bel Air market at the site of the old Gonzalo restaurant. The only demerit is for the bathroom, which isn't well maintained and has a beautiful but unsanitary curtain divider that you must touch to walk through. Bottom line; skip Banzai and check out Ocean Sushi

Terrible:( Was in the area getting my car fixed so we stopped by here to grab a quick bite. I didn't expect much based on the reviews thinking this was just like any other half off sushi places...and they still managed to disappoint. I ordered the rainbow roll ($5) and my husband got the sashimi combo ($12.95). Long story short, the fish was really fishy and low quality. The sashimi combo only came with 3 types of fish. Served on what I'm going to call iceberg coleslaw. The salmon was fine, but the tunas were terrible. My rainbow roll was fine until I got to the piece with tuna on it. When you can taste the fishiness through the blob of teriyaki sauce, you know it's bad. I tried washing it down with my water, but the water tasted like wet towels. No bueno. The only redeeming factors were the miso soup and the friendly staff. The teriyaki bento on the table next to us looked good. Sacramento is saturated with good and mediocre sushi places. If you must try this place, just skip anything with raw fish.

I used to go to Ginza ALL THE TIME. I was glad to see that Ocean Sushi opened up and was eager to try. I really wish they would have retained the old menu. Its taken a while to get used to, but after a few months, I can say I like it. Foodwise, I'd give it three stars. Its not bad, but its not memorable either. It's your standard japanese fare, nothing outstanding, but nothing to be upset about either. The main reason I go and keep coming back though, are for the outstanding standing specials that run all day long. $1.50 will get you a 12 oz. bottle of Sapporo or Asahi, or a bottle of hot sake. If you are doing sake bombs, 1 hot sake will last you about 2 bottles of beer. Its a pretty good time. They also have $2 handrolls all day, which pair awesomely with the sake bombs. Don't forget to get some edamame to go with all of that. The last time I went, I saw that they are doing happy hour now as well. Since I live so close by, I will definitely be by to give it a shot. Bottom line: Its a nice addition to the neighborhood roster of restaurants. Not as good as Ginza, but its still finding itself. Hopefully they keep improving and stay around for a long time. Head over if you are craving japanese but don't want to drive very far.

I was sad when Ginza closed, but so happy that Ocean Sushi is here now! The sushi is a lot better than Ginza's every was (sorry Ginza, but you were good for your bento boat, not your sushi)! It is fresh fish, and rice. I've been there 3 times and have tried different rolls every time. I haven't been disappointed yet! The interior look the same as when it was Ginza, but that's part of the charm. It's in a shopping center (on the same strip as Tuesday Morning, and across from Bel Air) so there is always parking. Overall, I'm glad that Ocean Sushi has come to Greenhaven and I'm sure I'll visit many more times.

I live in the neighborhood and am so glad there is a yummy and dependable sushi place. It's hard to find decent sushi in Sacramento, where you find value and consistency in the food. I am willing to pay $$ for high quality fish, but in reality, this is just not something feasible to do regularly. That's why Ocean Fish is so great; it's affordable considering the quality. Ocean Sushi is great for those weeknights when you just don't feel like cooking. We usually get take out or delivery 2-3 times a month! Free delivery is a big bonus! We like to order the signature rolls; our favs are the Hokkaido Winter, Screaming Alaska, Ocean Fish, Sunset Strip, Romeo and Juliet, Angel, and Hawaii. They are very friendly and helpful when we call in our order and food is always ready within 30 minutes. My husband is allergic mayo, so I always ask for the rolls without any mayo sauce and Ocean Sushi is the only place that never messes up by including it. You'd think this is a simple request, but every other sushi place I've been to always forgets. I've never written a review and felt compelled to write this one because I think Ocean Sushi deserves more credit than they've been given. It really is a neighborhood gem!

Their online ordering and web page needs updating. Not open at 11AM on Sunday like their web ordering page says. Put in in order at 12. Checked their hours on their webpage and says open at 11Am. Order says confirmed and be ready in 20 minutes. Get their at 12:20..lights out, closed sign on door. Get on yelp cuz where else can you bitch about a restaurant and people sorta give a shit and see that they are open at 4:30pm. I guess I should have called to confirm my order.

clean and simple as you walk in. the food is average nothing like wow. I ordered the bento box with cali roll which you get six pcs. the sushi rice was still warm and the seaweed was soggy. and I chose one more item the teriyaki salmon. the salmon was small but it was tasty. it came with soup salad and rice. for 11.95. I ordered the daily bottle beer for only 1.50 asahi which is a deal! service is bad no check up or refill water or ask if another beer.

In the same plaza as Bel Air on Rush River. I've had takeout a handful of times. In fact, I noticed a banner recently on the building advertising free delivery. I think you can also place to-go orders online. I haven't used that service.. I've also dined in. When dining with a group, all the food came at different times-- not even close to each other. That's not so bad if we were all sharing food but we weren't. The food is okay. There's also a Happy Hour. If I ever make it, I'll let you know.

I'm a big fan of Sushi Cafe so we usually just end up there when we're in the mood for sushi. However, lately they've been dropping the ball a bit lately so we decided to try Ocean Sushi since it is super close to our house. I've been here a couple of times now and I must admit that I'm a fan. The menu isn't super extensive but it definitely has something for everyone. My mom likes their Bento Box a lot and it is a great value. I've had a few different rolls and they're always good. Fresh fish, not overpowered with sauce, etc. My boyfriend always gets the mixed sashimi plate wherever we go (which is what has been really lacking at Sushi Cafe) and he was really happy with Ocean's version. Super fresh fish, good variety, sliced well. They also give a free Firecracker roll when you spend over $45 so that's a nice bonus. The highlight of this place is really the service. It is outstanding. Super helpful, very attentive, my drink never dropped below the halfway mark before being refilled. Plus, they offer free delivery. I have a feeling we'll be trying that out in the near future. All in all, it is a great addition to the neighborhood and we'll definitely be back soon.

This place was ok. Good if you live in Greenhaven and don't want to drive far. But the food is really nothing to write home about. I was expecting a little more. However their Happy Hour is pretty good. $1.50 for a large Sapporo. Not bad. I was hoping this could be our new spot for Sushi since it's close to home but theirs just didn't do it for me. So back to our usual spot.

I feel bad giving one star because the staff is so nice and this is my neighborhood restaurant. The sushi was bland. My wife's was kinda fishy. I usually binge out on sushi, but for the first time, my plate was left half eaten. I had nigiri, and it was just ok. It didn't seem very fresh. I will not go back but I do hope they improve.

    (1)
  • Brian S.

Disappointing. Their sushi is ok. Rolls are often wrapped a little tight and the rice becomes a hard chunk. The rice is very bland. Their chef seems to completely miss that sushi is seasoned rice. Their fish is good quality though and is able to carry the flavor for most of their rolls. The epic sesame chicken of Ginza is gone and has been replaced by something you would find at McDonalds. Over cooked chicken chunks drowned in a monotone sickeningly sweet sauce. The geso (squid) has been consistently over cooked and rubbery. It pains me to have to write such a negative review of my neighborhood eatery, but after 4 successive disappointing meals it had to deal done.

  • Drew O.

Ocean Sushi just earned another star from me. I expanded my horizons and ordered a dinner (togo) instead my usual sushi. The dinner comes with Miso Soup and to my surprise the soup was in the bag when I got home. This surprised me because most all other places the soup is for DINE IN ONLY. Sweet! To top it off, they give a free order of Soy Beans for any order over $30. Twice it happened to me that my order was just under $30, but they gave me the Soy Beans anyway. Nicely done. :)

I went in on a Friday for lunch. We were seated right away since there were not many people. Uhh one question... how is 11:30 a.m. happy hour? I dunno. From my experience happy hour is usually between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Whatever. Discounted sushi? I'll take that! Anyways, we had a total of 9 rolls for 8 people. The bill came up to be around $50. Tip! When you order up to $45+, you get a free order of firecracker balls! The rolls are pretty average. Nothing really interesting or unique. When I ordered the rainbow roll, I expected like two or three items in the inside like artificial crab, avocado, or tempura shrimp. When it came out, I noticed it was rather plain with just artificial crab meat in the center. The restaurant was pretty clean. Server was friendly and quick, although I had to remind them to bring out the additional firecracker balls. The owner was also nice and took the time to explain to my inexperienced grandparents what each sushi roll contained. Overall, I would probably come back to eat cheap sushi during happy hour. You get what you pay for, nothing more nothing less. I would not have high expectations since this place is not up to par with restaurants like Mikuni or Banzai. Come hungry, leave happy!

I ABSOLUTELY love this placE. SADLY I'll be moving soon but I'm still coming back. Food is always on point and customer service. OMG. I can't say more. These guys are awesome. Not to mention their $1.50 sake/beer. Highly recommend this place.

Went here last night while visiting my son in the Pocket area. His first time also. We ordered 4 rolls and we like them spicy and they were all good and fresh. They also served a complimentary roll and it was not a sampler. We left stuffed and happy and didn't spend an arm and a leg. I will be back when in Sac.

This place is the reason I have to make a yelp account, this is the worst place ever do not eat here or you will get sick!!!! sushi is really Fishy an gross even the chicken is questionable, the beef even worse Seriously people this is a real review, your being warned now, me an my wife just threw 50$ worth of food in the trash can. I have seen a lot of these types of places an this one has done it for me to make a yelp account to warn you all. I feel sick to my stomach after only trying the beef an one pc of the sushi, I am prepared to throw up tonight, an if I do im going to return it right back to their front door I don't care what any review says on here or what the sushi looks like, it can look great just like what we got but the quality an taste is like eating old stinky fish. an to top it off there prices are the same as the really good quality sushi places around here like downtown. I feel really sorry for leaving this review, but this place needs to go out of business or they going to make some people really sick, maybe even kill them Also the MAin red flag here is that the place is always empty. but my wife just had to try it an when I walked in I looked at her an said I don't think so, but she insisted, cause she cant recognize any signs, but you will catch them driving by or just walking in..

We came on a Monday night. It wasn't too busy. We ordered three bento boxes. Two of us had chicken katsu. Man it was so dry and hard...inedible, thin pieces of dry cardboard. Yuck! And cold....like it was sitting around for a while. Two of us had saba shioyaki. bland, cold,...again, like to had been sitting around for a while. Their free firecracker roll was gross...deep fried gooiness...again it was cold Service was terrible. staff was more interested in what was going on outside the front door than checking on us. We were obviously done eating but the staff was preoccupied with talking to each other or walking around day dreaming. This is the closest Japanese restaurant to our house. They've been open for a while but I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. So tonight, I thought we'd give them a shot. Totally proved me right. My advice, go somewhere else....not good here

Ocean Sushi has become our go to spot for great Japanese fare because they deliver. They consistantly deliver in 15-20 minutes -- although they always say they'll deliver in 30 minutes. Give the bento boxes a try. Very reasonable price and always hits the spot.

Lovely place in a good location. I've had this place twice and both times it was good. I don't know about everyone one else, but I lie my sushi spicy, and thinking that I ordered a volcano and firecracker ball roll, it'd be spicy as hell. Well it lacked that, but it was still good.

I just moved across the street from this place and missed my favorite sushi place from Elk Grove Sushimono and one in arden Hook. I have ordered take out twice and both times the servers were extremely nice. Plus being vegetarian, I was happy to be able to order rolls that were something other than just an avocado maki roll (which I still tried here and was fresh).

Next time should I ask for the teriyaki chicken that is not cold and full of bones? Yuk... Last time I come here. Also, where is the value? A dinner bento box is pretty much chicken and rice.

This place is fantastic. They have original items, an amazing happy hour and they deliver for free. How could you go wrong? They are friendly, fast and the restaurant was clean :)

Sushi is good for the price you pay. I will more than likely continue to go back to fulfill my sushi cravings.

Tried Ocean after a recommendation. Was a bit worried with no one in the restaurant when we got there. Shortly after we arrived it started to fill up. Service is great prices are great. Fthey made a roll just the way I wanted and it was great. My friend's roll was very good. Will definitely be back.

My husband and I decided to try this place out during their Grand Opening, after the old restaurant, Ginza, had closed down. Food Quality: 1 stars This place served some of the worst sushi I've had in years. The "spicy tuna" looked like raw hamburger meat, tasted really gross too. Nothing was fresh. The rolls didn't look very appetizing, and tasted like week old grocery store sushi. We tossed it out in the garbage. Food Quantity: 2 stars For the money, the rolls looked like they had at least 10pcs each. However, the quality was just so bad that it wasn't even worth half of what we paid (and we had a coupon for the Grand Opening!). Service: 3 stars I ordered over the phone, and it was alright. The person I talked to seemed to understand me, which is always a plus. Location: 2 stars Located in the back, around the corner, it's not easy to find. We wouldn't even know it was there, had we not been going to Ginza before it closed down. There is always ample parking, though. Reasons behind my rating: Awful, awful food. Just... awful. Would I make a return visit? No. Never again. Would I recommend this to others? No

Came here once to try it out. Sashimi was not fresh and slightly overpriced. I may give them another chance. Wasn't awful but wasn't mind blowing either.

This is a top three restaurant of the Pocket area. Sushi is fairly priced and pretty good, the service is prompt and friendly. The best part by far is that they have $1.50 bottles of Sapporo, Asahi, and personal hot sake flasks. Often times they serve free edamame or miso soup. Last time my friends and I ate here the gave a complimentary free large hot sake, for this they have earned 5 stars for pocket area!

Never order the ramen here. Awful!!! What do they know about ramen here? It sucks, and should be removed from their menu! I had the craving for ramen tonight. So I called in to order the beef ramen for pick up. When I got home from picking up the beef ramen, it was soggy! I didn't notice that they combined the ramen and soup base together. Who does that??? So I opened the container, it barely had any soup left because the ramen had already soaked all the soup up. Disappointing!!! Gave it a try, not only the ramen was soggy, it was also bland! So annoying!!! :( I wanted to actually rate this place 1 star for their ramen, but their sushi here is good that deserves 3 star.

I like this place, it's not the best sushi ever but still solid. Take out is convenient and comes with all the bells and whistles. The staff is friendly and attentive. The fish is fresh and the rice is perfect.

It's a nice place to have sushi in this neighborhood. They provide good customer services. The sushi is tasty and everything with a reasonable price on the menu. Definitely come back for the second time! Great food, great services! Highly recommend!!

Came here early evening (5:30-ish) on Tuesday last week. They weren't too crowded though the venue is rather small. The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but they definitely need to work out the service issues!! Servers seemed frazzled and in too much of a hurry, which likely contributed to the numerous blunders... -appetizers came after our entrees arrived & only then after several reminders -had to ask multiple times for beverage refills & again later for take-home boxes -they managed to split our tabs correctly, but failed to charge the special pricing advertised -undercharged my credit card, then told me to fix it by adding the missing amount to my tip We tried to be sweet and cut them some slack since they just opened for business like 2 weeks ago. Might try them again after they are more established.

Came here for dinner for the first time under its new name "Ocean Sushi" as it use to be "Ginza". Not sure if it's under new management or just a name change. The interior decor looks similar to Ginza. We had the firecracker ball and a specialty sushi, can't remember the name, a side of veggie tempura, and my husband had the bento box with chicken katsu and sesame chicken. We were both given miso soup when usually I bought was only for those who ordered it or that it came with the bento box. The food was pretty good. The rolls weren't too small nor were they too big. I like their sushi. The veggie tempura was about the same as any other sushi place. I didn't really like the bento box but my husband did since he did finish his whole tray! I would come back and try more of the sushi on the menu plus it's pretty close by and right in the Bel Air shopping center which is pretty convenient if you need to go grocery shopping after or before.

Really good sushi. Walnut prawn roll and spicy alasks are really tasty! They don't rush you out. Glad we found this place.

Are you serious? So I sat down to eat and the food was ok but not tasty. Then I hear a screaming from the back of the kitchen like someone was getting spanked. Then when I'm done eating they decide to have a family dinner. So I'm sitting here waiting while all the staff is having dinner for 15 min. They are loud and I'm the only one in there. Once they Finnish their dinner the waitress comes to me picking her teeth and asked me if I was done. Horrible service. Ok food. I can't Believe they acted like that when they had customers. Unprofessional. After I wrote this review, I guess one of the workers started retaliating.. Interesting. Reminds me of Amy's baking company.

Good sushi!!!! Between the two Japanese restaurants in the area, Ocean Sushi vs Banzai.. Ocean Sushi definitely takes the cake!!!! WAY better service by miles, WAY better prices, and personally, WAY better food. So it's a win-win!!!! We have been here a couple of times and no doubt, we will be back!!!!! Finally a great and locally convenient sushi place in the pocket!!!!

Looking for a place to eat lunch, with my fiancé and sister. Decided to try this place since it's new to the neighborhood and we have received several flyers in the mail. When we arrive we are promptly greeting by the staff and seated. We are informed it's happy hour. Their happy hour prices are great!! It's a small selection of items but we each find a roll that we want. We also each order a noodle bowl. While waiting for our meal we receive complimentary miso soup which is delicious. Not long after we finish out miso they clear the bowls and bring out the rolls we order. All of them are well made and delicious. Shortly after they brought us our noodles. They were cooked well. The soup base was a little bland but after adding a splash of soy sauce it was perfectly flavored. Their staff was friendly and kept checking to see if we needed anything. Will definitely dine here again and bring friends.

Fabulous !!! Great food, great owners and very fun to be with. I highly recommend it. !! Say Hello to the Owner Tony, very friendly and an all around nice guy who will make you up anything you can imagine. Give the waitresses a little break as they are all new and in training. Enjoy!!

AWESOME!! Great food & phenomenal service!! Had heard this place wasn't so good, but needed to try it myself & glad we did! Prices were good and a range of sushi to pick from. Love trying new creative ones!! Clean and very attentive staff! And if you live in the pocket... They deliver for FREE! We will be regulars now, sorry Banzi!

Our first time here. We were seated rather quickly on a Friday night. The waitresses there were more friendly than some of the people waiting to be seated. Here we were waiting to be seated and this lady tries to fight her way through because she wants to be seated. RUDE! The food is pretty good. Since we ordered more than $40.00 worth of food they gave us the firecracker sushi for free. You can't beat free food. I would recommend this place.

We stopped in on a whim and were pleasantly surprised! The prices are decent and the food is good. We got a surprise free dessert on our first visit and 10% off for the grand opening each visit since. Bring your friends!

The food here is not really all that great. The beef ramen had a broth that was very sweet and the noodles were mushy by the time they brought the bowl to our table. The rolls are lacking in flavor. They offer a mediocre happy hour with a few food items at really cheap prices. The beef teriyaki tasted like a cheap cut of beef and they used baking soda to tenderize the meat. I could tell and so could my dining companions after they tasted the beef. The sushi rice was bland and way too mushy. Everyone knows bad sushi rice makes for bad sushi rolls as it becomes ones mushy mess in your mouth. They really need to improve on the rice and adding some flavor, any flavor into their rolls. The chicken teriyaki was ok but nothing to rave about. Get better cuts of beef for the teriyaki. I know the owners are Chinese but you are cooking Japanese food and not broccoli beef where you need to add baking soda for melty soft beef. The miso soup is just ok as well. I am disappointed as I was really hoping for a legit sushi house close to my place. I may come back to try sesame chicken bento.

This restaurant took the place of Ginza Japanese restaurant. My husband and I went to check it out, and it was fabulous. We were warmly greeted and quickly seated. Since the place just opened, they are currently running a 10% off special, plus $1.00 edemame, $2 hand rolls, $1.50 beer (small), and free fire cracker balls with a purchase of $45.00. Also they have some good offers on their to go menu as well. They have an extensive menu with some interesting sushi rolls. I ordered the Rainbow Roll (crab and avocado topped with tuna, salmon, hamachi, ebi, and tai), and the Angel Roll (tuna, salmon, hamachi, avocado, and sriracha sauce), and a spicy tuna hand roll. Yes, I have a big appetite when it comes to sushi! The sushi tasted super fresh, and was presented beautifully. My husband ordered a three item bento box for $14.95, where you choose three items of your choice plus, miso soup, salad, and steamed rice. He chose a spicy tuna roll, chicken teriyaki and tempura. I took bites of his food, and the chicken teriyaki was cooked perfectly with a slight char taste to it. Also the teriyaki sauce was well balanced and not overly sweet. The tempura had a nice light batter, that was fried to perfection. Overall, everything tasted really good, the service was excellent, and I would come back for more!

One of the few Japanese restaurants/sushi places in the pocket/Greenhaven area, so decided to give this place a try. Previously known as Ginza, this place is now called "ocean sushi." Since it is a "grand opening," they are currently giving everyone 10% off their entire order. Furthermore, if you spend 45$, they give you a free sushi roll. I came here at 630 on a Sunday night and was seated right away. Not a huge venue but enough seating for the amount of customers they seem to get. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered the appetizer vegetable tempura. I was given a free miso soup since everyone else at my table ordered entrees (and miso soup came with their entree). Reasonable price for the amount of food you get. Workers are very friendly. They have a couple new workers (that are clearly still "learning the ropes"), but they did their best. ... Came back for a second time and my experience was very nice. We were seated right away and they took our order shortly after. Service was great. I once again got a miso soup even though it didn't come with my order. They also provided free edamame to munch on before our meal came. I ordered the tempura soba and it was okay.

New place in the pocket thought I'd give it a try... BIG MISTAKE. Service HORRENDOUS. FOOD HORRIBLE obviously do NOT know Japanese food. Tempura cooked in OLD oil, very greasy so over cooked veggies were MUSHY, shrimp what shrimp was like a tiny strip of something with a shrimp tail on the end. Was all of 3 tables in the place and after seated and order taken NO service for refill of tea or water server just disappeared. When I was asked about the food I replied the tempura was inedible she didn't understand and thought I said it was good I had to correct her and. Literally say. It was inedible she smiled/laughed and left and came back with check... of course nothing taken off even thou I did not eat but a bite from a few pieces of tempura. Worst of all I get home and an hour later...food poisoning NOT good. Will NEVER go back. Eat at your own risk

This place just opened so I thought I would give it a try. The food is pretty good-ingredients are fresh and cooked properly. The food portions are decent. The service definitely needs work. I was seated promptly, but it took literally 20 minutes before the waitress came to take my order. I even asked her twice as she walked by if our order could be taken, and she kept saying "Ok" but then walking away to do something else. This was pretty annoying because I saw her go back behind the register and fiddle around with some things, instead of just taking my order and then doing those other things later. Two other waitresses were working that evening, and neither of them came to check on my table or take our orders either. After our orders were finally taken, the food came out about 20 minutes later. That isn't too bad and the food was good enough that it seemed an appropriate time to wait. However, after finishing our dinner, we sat around for another 10 minutes just waiting for the waitress to give us our check. She walked by twice and saw that our plates were completely empty, yet still didn't think of bringing us the check until I asked her for it. Overall, I think this place has potential if they resolve their service issues. The food was pretty good, the prices are okay for Japanese food, and the restaurant itself is clean. The service is just incredibly slow and the waitress seemed unprepared to do her job.

Ocean Sushi is new to our neighborhood so we thought we would give it a try since fellow Yelpers gave it a decent rating. We ordered the dragon roll and 3 item bento box. We weren't very impressed with the meal. The dragon roll was not bad but the bento box meal (specifically the sesame chicken and teriyaki beef) was below my standards. Perhaps I've been spoiled by the quality of food at Bento Box Restaurant.

My hubby and I've been there twice and have received great service and sushi both times. They're offering a 10% off promo right now because they just opened and it makes it well worth it. We'll be going back again soon!

So glad there is still a sushi restaurant in this area. Decent food in a cute place. Servers are always nice. There's always kinks in a new place but so far so good. Been in here about 3 or 4 times and will keep coming back.

As this restaurant just recently opened... I took my daughter to Ocean Sushi about 3 weeks ago for lunch. She had the Bento lunch combo of sesame chicken and gyoza. And I had Oyako-don. I just want to indicate that we were both disappointed with our lunch selections. The sesame chicken consisted of small pieces that looked like "chicken nuggets" with a really salty brown sauce and the 4 pieces of gyoza were very small in size. They looked like the kind you would find in the Bel Air market frozen section. As for the Oyako-don, the presentation of the food was fine but the dish was very bland. The service was just okay given that the restaurant was not very busy that afternoon. We will most likely not return for a second visit.

my husband and i were so sad when ginza (the previous restaurant) left and were not expecting much from this place. but we were so wrong! they were really busy the night we came in (it was a friday) but we were seated immediately. the servers took a little while to get to us but they were running great specials and i dont think they expected to be such a hit, but we didn't mind waiting. they were very sweet. we ordered the firecracker balls and spider roll. both were delicious, but the firecracker balls were my favorite! everything we ordered had so much flavor and tasted so fresh, i was pleasantly surprised! great prices (even without the 10% off grand opening special) and i am so excited to once again have a delicious sushi place across the street from me! i have already gone back twice.
