Buffets are buffets, typically very low quality. This is your typical Chinese buffet w/ sushi & Korean food. Everything tastes decent, however, their salt & pepper crabs are delicious and close to being fresh!

This was my first time at this place. I was impressed by the variety of foods there. There was soup and korean bbq stands, extensive salad bar, the usual chinese fair and a lot of sea food. The food was better then in most buffets. In particular, the whole grilled basa fish was out of this world. Although, the crab legs were too salty and basically not eatable. Next time, I will bring my teenage kids here. They can do some "serious damage" to any buffet.

No. 1 Buffet? Eh I don't think so. This place should be called the No. 1 Dirtiest Buffet. I have to get this one off my chest first before reviewing the food itself. Upon leaving the bathroom I caught one of the employees cleaning the toilets with the toilet scrubber. They then went ahead and casually cleaned the sink area with the same scrubber. Boy are they efficient! They sure know how to cut costs/time! You might be thinking, 'Oh but Vergil you must be crazy the place looks nice and clean!' Do not be fooled by the interior and exterior of the restaurant, of course it's going to look nice and new, it just opened! Alright now if you're still reading down here then you must still be interested in trying the place out. On to the review: the restaurant mainly had Chinese and Japanese food. The Chinese doughnuts were pretty good. For those who are not familiar with it, they are the fresh, warm balls sprinkled with sugar that melt in your mouth. The dishes I did like was the Honey BBQ ribs and fried rice. I cannot say this about the sushi and chow mein, maybe their heart was in the right place but it didn't taste like it was supposed to. I've definitely had better. Now for the bad. Although they had an abundant supply of iced crabs, the crabs were too salty. It tasted like it was dipped in salt and then cooked in more salt water. The warm crabs on the other hand tasted fine. I would avoid the cold crabs at all cost unless you enjoy eating salt. THE thing that irked me the most was the cleanliness of the whole restaurant. After seeing what the cleaning staff did, that was enough for me to decide I would not be spending another evening at that buffet. I have no intentions on coming back nor would I recommend the restaurant to anyone until the place cleans up their act - no pun intended. If you are concerned about potential health problems that may arise in the future do not come here! This place is just nasty.

woah. that bad guys? I've been here twice and I think the food is still great. This buffet has a wide variety of foods. They got sushi, great desserts, and some delicious hot plates. I love the grill that they have, you can have some chicken bbq'd or some really bombass korean bbq. The only con to this place is that everyone in sacramento knows this place is good, which means it gets really crowded in this building. However, in defense of the waiters I think they manage the tables well considering how busy it gets for them. This place is good for what its worth, its a buffet and a decent one at that. So at least give it a shot.

so typical of a buffet...quantity without quality. i always start off with the sushi whenever a buffet has one. it's the perfect pick me up for me and it tells me of what to expect with the rest of the spread. the rolls were basic, though the dragon roll was decent. the sashimi was dry and didn't look fresh so i stayed away from that. although they had a mongolian and ramen area, it still didn't get my taste buds going. needless to say, you won't be seeing me back here...definitely doesn't live up to it's name...doesn't really come close. i'm just glad i wasn't the one forking up the bill for this meal. :p

Not big on buffets, but this place had a good selection and was satisfying.

Okay, about four years ago I was forced to go to pretty much every generic, cheap Chinese buffet in the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. It was traumatizing. I avoid anything that even looks like it could be close to one of those buffets these days. And then I went to No. 1. Now, I'm a victim of these lovely economic times, so $7.95 lunch buffet sounded excellent and a couple coworkers recommended it, so we went. Totally shocked by the quality I experienced. The sushi, though not of quality, was definitely satisfying beyond all means that could ever be provided by a buffet. So surprised. That and the tempura alone were worth the $8. The other food was slightly less satisfactory. I was excited to see more authentic items out there (infinitely more so than americanized chinese buffets). I'm incredibly sad I didn't get to try the Mongolian barbeque. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. This is my one catch to this review: I would probably never step foot in this place after 4PM or for dinner. It's not worth the like $12 and you wouldn't go to this place for a "dining experience". You go for the food. If I'm with a friend and we're both in need of cheap, satisfying asian food at lunch, I'll definitely come here again.

i'll give it a solid 4. i've only been twice during lunch hours though. its a big box with food, chairs, a few tv's and some decorations in it. the food is never great but it's always "good". nothing to brag about and tell ur friends to go for it but a place u go to when ur hungry and don't want to spend a lot. get your plate, they bring the drink, pay the bill and i usually leave a $2 tip because i eat a lot when i'm there. yes for $10 i can go get fat at mcdonalds on double cheeseburgers mc chickens and a large fries but where's the satisfaction in that? i'll probably be going this afternoon, i'll use my card and a couple single's for the tip, it's a buffet, why tip you do all the work? well i figure it's the right thing to do with the 4 stacked plates of food i eat. food is a 3, price is a 4, selection's a 4 as well so i think a 4 is fair. DONT expect great things there DO expect to eat however much you want at a pretty good price. a cali. roll tray at costco still costs more then your lunch and tip so consider that DONT try anything that looks suspicious though, if you havent ate it before u may not have the stomach for it, the food is oily... ur gonna go boo boo afterwards, no avoiding that, accept it, EMBRACE IT... LOVE IT!!!!!

I came back here a second time to see if the food got any better... nope! Sheesh this place is anything but #1. The last time that I came here, I ended up eating just 5 plates worth of fried shrimp. This time I was more adventurous and took on multiple plates worth of fried cheese wontons, chow mein, beef chow fun, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, and some spicy chicken with jalapenos. It wasn't all that satisfying like man I gotta get three more plates of that, but enough to calm down my raging hunger. Anyway, nothing special. Let me know when Guy Fieri comes and gives it a higher rating.

I ate here last night with my family along my girl for my dad's birthday. This was all our first time here and heard from friends and coworkers that this place has great food so we all had to give it a try. When we stepped in, the restaurant was huge and the place looked packed! There was also a line to get a table but were seated very quickly. It probably only took 5 minutes or so. As we sat down, the waitress took our drink orders and it was time to tear up some food. The food selection is way bigger than Mizu's. Way more selection in the seafood and what's surprised me was they had a mongolion bbq section! What?!? Too bad I didn't get to try it out but they had all the meats and veggies I'd put in a bowl. All the food was pretty tasty. The crab was a little salty though. Since the place was really busy, most of the food was fresh. I really like the bbq pork spare ribs and the pineapple chicken. They were cooked well and tender. Both also had a nice sweet taste to it too. The fried shrimp and calamari were pretty good too. Not too greasy. The fried shrimp also had a great crunch to it but the calamari was a little tough. I stuffed myself with other foods that I can't remember and mostly were all tasty. Overall, this place had a great assortment of foods but their sushi isn't the best. I kind of expected it though since most of the foods here were chinese. I would definitely go back here again because I didn't get to try some of their foods. There was too much!

FINALLY, i am able to yelp about my neighborhood buffet and got a chance to taste everything! This was actually my late bday dinner with my loved ones, bf N the cuzzin/other half. Well, we came right at dinner time..not much peepo and good amount of food. I cant believe how little the place is inside, thought it would be huge with lots of food. that kinda blew me off, the food wasnt very fresh. Crawdads were ok, but be careful we found lots of dead rotten ones..gross! I only enjoyed the oysters, some sashimi..and some soup. Didnt get to try the fresh grill, the raw meats looked overdue.. maybe i came on a bad day. I will give them another try later on and hope it'll changs my mind...

  • Rose H.

Food is gross- definitely draws its appeal from the quantity you get rather than quality. There's so many good Asian spots surrounding this place, you'd be better off almost anywhere else..

    (2)
  • Stacy B.

Decent selection. Boneless BBQ spare ribs were great, as was the standard dim sum (har gow, siu mai). All else mediocre. In the middle of the hot seafood selections was a huge apple struedel...odd placement, but delish. I'd go here again if my co-worker paid for me again!

    Numba 1 buffet isn't so numba 1.

  • Daniel P.

This place eh aight. I didn't think their food was that fresh because their chicken and beef weren't warm enough. The sushi is too soft and they only have one kind of sushi; California rolls. I'd come back only if I'm really hungry. It's quite affordable too.

  • David T.

If 3.5 stars were possible that is what they would get. My family doesn't like raw sushi so I take them to this place because they have a huge selection of food and it is pretty cheap. If you like sushi and plan to go to a buffet, I still think Mizus is the best in Sacramento but the selection outside of sushi isn't nearly as vast as it is here. So this place has the following food selection: 1. Sushi Station (not so good/small selection) 2. Mongolian BBQ Station w/noodles soup: Good sauce and meat for the BBQ. Noodle soup is horrible..... even for a buffet. 3. Salad/Fruit Station: Huge variety, but its a buffet....... I fill myself up on the seafood and meats 4. Dim Sum: Su Mai is pretty good. They even have Chicken Feet! 5. American Food: They always seem to have friend chicken and pizza 6. Chinese Food: Nice selection of chow mein, broccoli beef, teriyaki chicken, and many other dishes you see at panda express. 7. Seafood: The seafood here is pretty good for a buffet I must admit. I always get myself a full plate of crawdad and crab legs. Its steamed so they cant really mess that up. Eat it with butter and its all good. They also have shrimp cook in 4 or 5 different ways. All in all...... I would come back again and that is all a restaurant can ask for!

Fresh crab, fresh shrimp, spong roll, ice cream, you name it.. The nature of Chinese buffet is, they're so good when the business is new open, after years, the quality is worse and worse, hopefully, this buffet won't fall into that catagories. Now I feel sorry for the Chinese buffet next to SF market, it will be hard for them unless they come up with something amazing.

  • A L.

The food isn't always the freshest, but there is a huge variety of things to choose from. There is sushi, Korean bbq, Mongolian bbq and even soup. I pretty much come here for the salt and pepper crab though. It's the best chinese buffet around the area for sure.

Hubby and I used to be frequent guests here. We even had our wedding renewal rehearsal dinner there. Food has downgraded over the last few years. Went there again last night and was quite disappointed. Gave us a bad table at first and waiter wasn't too thrilled when we wanted to switch table. Good quality has deminished. Probably won't be going back any time soon.

    (1)
  • This place seems to be one of the better chinese buffets around Sacramento. The meat was good, excelent sushi, mediocre timpora and seafood. Over all it was about what we payed for. About $14 a person with take-home options.

  • Rodel R.

Not bad... despite what everyone says, the food here is pretty decent. I especially enjoyed the made to order BBQ; very tasty, especially the short ribs! There is also decent selection when it comes to food. Despite what others say, I don't think this buffet was cheap, rather average priced when compared to others.

  • Felicia J.

This buffet is way over rated! I went there to see what all the buzz was about and I was very disappointed. They do have a big selection of food but all of the food is very bland. Everything tasted the same. To me the only thing worth eating was the sushi and the fortune cookie.

I'm sad this place has such bad reviews!! Let's get ONE THING straight. If this place weren't a buffet, if I had their food at a regular restaurant, I would probably give it 1.5 stars. HOWEVER, the food was surprisingly good for a buffet. PRICE: I didn't pay but I remember seeing $8 lunch, $12 lunch and that includes a drink. Come on, people, what do you expect from an all-you-can-eat place that charges $8! That's cheaper than one entree at another restaurant!!! What was surprising was that gratuity for parties of 10 or less is only 7% and for parties of 10 or more, it's only 12%, I believe. Dirt cheap, guys! FOOD: They claim to have over 180 items and I believe it! I'm used to seeing buffets with only 3-4 stands. I didn't count but I think No. 1 Buffet had at least 6! For fruits, they had cherries, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, strawberries, and more! I never saw such a wide selection at a buffet before. Their walnut shrimp looked soggy but tasted a lot better than it looked. They had a shrimp cake that was actually so good, my cousin went back for thirds! The salt and peppered crab was a disappointment but that might have been because I got the last of it. Their sushi was bad, though. Didn't look good, didn't taste good. I surprisingly enjoyed their fried chicken, which was crispy on the outside and full of meat on the inside. Their clams were a bit bland but still yum! I don't like eating snow crab but my friend chomped them down one by one. Their dim sum was a lot better than ones I've tried at other buffets. It wasn't soggy and the meat was actually crunchy. I never eat chow mein/fried rice at restaurants so I can't comment on how it tasted but the fried rice didn't look appealing. I normally get disappointed by the teriyaki chicken kabobs at buffets as well but I enjoyed it at No. 1 buffet. They also have a Mongolian BBQ area that provided a lot of different meats. There were so many other dishes, I just can't remember them all. I just remember thinking I'd definitely come back for $12. SERVICE: In general, the service was good. I saw our waiter constantly walking back and forth to check up on tables. The only thing that I would note was the look he gave me when I wanted to change my half full cup of rasberry iced tea for sprite. It was watered down, don't blame me for wasting. =( VENUE: We were really, really disappointed that our party of 13 couldn't sit together. We were forced to sit at three different tables! However, apparently there's a party room for bigger parties, I don't know why they didn't seat us there. The place is pretty big so even though there was a lot of people dining, it wasn't too crowded.

Dim Sum items are still their highlight. Everything else is on the decline.

Huge variety! But the cooked food tasted just like any other Chinese buffet food, which can either be good or bad. An example of good was the cream cheese filled wonton (man, I love this stuff). An example of bad was the oysters. They were not fresh and have been sitting in the heat lamp for a while - dry and shriveled up. My favorite at this place was that they can grill different types of meat for you. You can choose from shrimp, korean short ribs, chicken, and pork chops. I don't think most people that eat here know about the cooking stations. The cooks were just standing around waiting for someone to give them raw food to cook. I would've rated this place 3 stars if it hadn't been for the server bugging us to leave him a tip. He didn't ask us to leave him a tip once or twice, but three times. Nevertheless, I still tipped the grill cook in his jar and the server the standard buffet tip ($1 per person, minus $1 for bugging us).

The buffet changes prices between "lunch" and "dinner" times. (not sure about breakfast). With that said, we were unfortunately late by a minute. So, once we sat down, we were charged "dinner" costs which is higher. Still, we don't have any complaints. After piling up on some seeming to be delicious food, I took the first bite from the shrimp dumpling and it was VERY stale. Even though we were charged more, the food still stayed the same from "lunch" schedule. The food seems to be less quality probably due to the quantity provided. The buffet is not the best, but if you wish to go "all out" on sushi disregarding its quality, then feel free to go.

  • Tom G.

Yelp led us to this buffet and we were not disappointed. It rivals the Todai asian buffets even back when they used to be really good. Affordable and tons of awesome food even fresh made sushi made by real sushi chefs. Lots of seafood choices as well as traditional Chinese takeout type dishes. Also some not so traditional ones that are fun to see but maybe only good to eat for traditionalist or the brave souls that want to know what a chickens foot or eye of some creature tastes like. That is to say.. the variety is incredible and adventurous but they still have standard fare. The salad bar features plenty of good looking fruit and fresh looking everything. There is a desert section that I will not even mention further in case there are those of you on a diet. :)

I heard nothing but good things about this place, so I was excited to try it last weekend. Eh, it was only okay. There was nothing spectacular about the food. There were two seating areas and we were placed at the far back which I thought was too damn far from the food. I guess that would be nice for a party room, but I think they could've set the place up better. It looked pretty clean and bright inside from all the natural light. I did really enjoy their fish though, the flavor was so yum! Maybe I should go for dinner next time...?

I came here to get some good and cheap food. My friends and I felt like we were constantly being watched. It was an hour before they closed too, and they were staring at us young college students eating. I felt like they thought we were not going to pay. A rude waitress also forced my friend to pay more tip than he wanted. Us college students barely have enough money for school, and she demanded us to pay such a high tip.

I wouldnt recommend going to this place.... I thought the place was dirty, unorganized and had a weird smell. The food was really low quality, the sushi was Ok for a cheap chinese buffet but any other food was terrible. The chicken feet (Chicken Paws is what they call it) still had nails on them which should've been cut. The Deserts wasn't any good. They also put us in this little round table and there were 8 of us so it was cramped. The waiters didnt pick up the dirty plates until 10 plates were stacked or we had to get refills from our drinks. I give them 2 stars for the Ok sushi and nice entrance and ya.... 2 stars means "meh. I've experienced better".... ALOT of other better chinese buffets.

SERVICE HERE IS HORRIBLE!!! Just had to get that out there first. Food is standard chinese buffett fare. Not the greatest or the worst but it is the staff that makes this place suck beyond belief. My family decided to celebrate an occassion here recently and we will not be going back. Not only did the waitress not split the bills like we asked here from the get go, but could not figure it out after the fact. HELLO-are basic math skills that hard to come by these days? This on top of the fact that they tried to charge us for 2 more adults and 2 extra kids that we DID NOT HAVE in our party!!! This is not the first chinese buffett where I have felt like they are al in cahoots to overcharge unsuspecting patrons. Then of all things the crappy waitress actually had the audacity to ask for her tip. EXCUSE ME?!?!? When did a tip become a requirement and especially to be rude enough to ask for it?!?! Needless to say she got about 13 cents from us. I felt that was even over doing it after the way we were treated but I felt like making a point and felt the 13 cents said more than nothing would have. The place was pretty dirty on top of that. I asked for a knife and the crap waitress actually pulled a dirty one out of a tray, rinsed it off with hot water and handed it to me like nothing was wrong...EEEWWWW!!! I warn everyone who reads this to find an alternative or learn to cook chinese cuisine yourself. This place epitomizes GROSS in every sense of the word.

This restaurant was better than I thought it would be, in fact its #1 in my book~ we went a few days ago, Sunday I guess. it was just $14. each plus 1.25 for a soda and 50 cents for my husbands hot tea. The buffet was hot and good, even the fried shrimp was hot. I do like to start with appetizers so I had lots of shrimp, teri chicken, honey walnut shrimp and egg roll. all good. As I was going to our table I noticed the crab and cold shrimp (I like steamed variety best) and so I had about 3 legs and 6 more shrimp. I love shellfish. My husband fills up on sushi, dim sum and chicken feet. He's Chinese and he likes the hardcore dishes best, like chicken feet. I cracked a big pile of crab and shrimp and savored it slowly. Delisioso.... My honey stuffed himself, he also liked the tripe, I was done at this point. We are going back next week. Its a far drive for us, but we are doing errands enroute too, to make it make sense, So if its still good next week I will verify. So much better than the typical Hawaii places where its more than $20 per person. This place seems to have alot of mixed reviews on here, but we enjoyed it alot.

Don't do buffets often, usually go as an invite to an event. If per other reviews lunch = $8, you can't go wrong here for selection. Lots of food islands. Sushi bar OK, no sashimi while we were there. Fresh fish on the sushi looked a little worked over, maybe dull knife. All fairly fresh. Nice produce bar with fresh fruits (had cherries & sweet strawberries, think latter may be those delish local growns) and the usual salad stuff. Dessert bar: cookies, cakes, egg tarts (normally love those but not too appetizing here, v thick pastry with dried looking custard). Loved the coffee sponge cake square & the soft serve which dispenses a half n half, half choco & half vanilla. Haven't had that since back in the day @ the Karmelcorn in the old Arden Fair mall. Dim sum bar: didn't have any but there was a nice selection. Some items look like they might have been steamed too long. Mongolian BBQ: try next time. Line up for this one. Assorted hot foods: the usual stir fry, deep fried, or cheesy dishes. There was soup available. Had a bowl of a sweet white fungus soup with red dates, kinds like one Mom use to make whe we were little, was good. Probably other stuff I missed, will check it out on another trip. Unfortunate there were so many negative reviews. The restaurant was busy & fairly clean on that day, buffet lines wiped down & orderly, even saw the lady refilling the fruits pick out the bad ones & tiding up the line. Even the ladies bathroom was clean, usually notoriously dirty in Chinese restaurants. Service was efficient. Our party was seated in a separate dining room to the right, there are two other dining areas to the left of the entry. Buffets are kind of like multipurpose gadgets: gets lots of stuff done but doesn't necessarily do it all well. If you're looking for great sushi, stirfry, pizza, etc. look elsewhere where you'll pay $8/item or more & they perhaps specialize in that food. If you're looking for an inexpensive place that has something for everyone or are just hungry & indecisive, put on the buffet (stretch) pants, this is it.

Food was DISGUSTING. I have never been so unsatisfied with a buffet in my life. first off, the crawfish was COLD, the raw fish on the sushi tasted like it hasn't been cleaned well, and the oysters were completely sandy. All the fruits tasted like they have been out for a while. When i asked for a separate tab, the waiter watched me the whole time eyeing my receipt for tip. I felt uncomfortable because i didn't want to tip for the bad food but i had to. the waiter was very rude, he acted like we weren't going to pay and kept watching us. I am asian so i KNOW good food from bad. poor service & the worst food ever.

I urge you to avoid this place. My father got violently ill after eating here- hospitalized for 2 days for food poisoning. My boyfriend and his coworker also got violently ill after eating here (completely separate visit). I don't write negative reviews (and this is my first bad review), but I felt compelled after seeing my daddy fall so ill. I hope the health department stops by for a visit very soon.

Been back couple of times... Korean BBQ has gone downhill, waiters still ignore you. Waiter on most recent visit totally ignored my request to get someone to start cooking my Korean BBQ. Rest of Buffet food has not gotten any better. Hope the zero tip gives a clue for the lack of service I was given...not much different from my first review

i HAVE no idea how to rate asian buffets...they all seem the same to me...i think its cuz the sheer variety its hard to have an overall feel, but this gets a four for having one of my favorite dishes, honey walnut prawns among the plethora of choices theres stuffed scallops to friend chicken, to corn on the cob to sushi. Its more or less all over the map, through very much an asian feel. Its very clean and spacious which is actually refreshing for a buffet, since you'll be walking a lot and balancing a lot of food, which preferably is not over someones head. theres made to order chow mien and pho, and choices of sushi, overall a great place to bring people...not gonna blow your mind, but definitely going to fill your stomach

We went there on a Saturday for lunch ($7.95 + extra for drinks), I don't think the tea cost extra. The value and variety at this place is hard to beat for the price you pay. This place is good for what its worth. There's lots of variety of Chinese food. The quality isn't up there, it's just ok. If you're a picky eater, this is probably not the place for you. The Korean bbq station isn't all that great, some of the meat was tough to eat. The place was clean. I will come back because this place is affordable.

Can't expect much from a buffet and this place falls in that category! It's your typical chinese buffet with the usual sweet and sour chicken, chow mein, egg rolls, that random plate of pizza which usually looks like cardboard with cheese, mongolian bbq, Korean bbq and even a sushi bar. Their sushi was pretty gross... The rice was all gummy/mushy and their vegetable tempura was cold so it wasn't crunchy! We got a fresh batch of tempura and it wasn't cooked all the way cause it was still soggy. How can one mess up deep fried stuff?!Weird thing was it was hot and fresh out of the oil. They didn't let it crisp? I don't know but it wasn't very good. Their dim sum was pretty good for a buffet! Their short ribs were delicious! I'd just go back for that! The workers there are pretty nice. They weren't plate ninjas like at other Asian buffets where the second you push your plate to the side, when you blink, the plate is gone! It's like magic. Okay maybe I secretly enjoy plate ninjas, but they were nice here! I didn't eat any dessert, but it looked like every other Asian buffet. Hard cookies, same cakes, cut tasteless fruit blah. 3 solid stars because I like anything bbq

I've come to this buffet a few times, and it's not all bad - usually for dinner which is about 14$? the noodle station is decent and being a sushi-enthusiast, the sushi bar is decent when you are hungry (it's nothing like you would get at a sushi restaurant, though.) Service is whatever, not anything spectacular. Overall, it's OK. I mean for the price you get a variety of decent food, you can't really complain!

one word. GARBAGE... the food was so nasty and the service sucked. our server realized he didn't have anymore straws on him to give and he pretty much said we are assed out until i had to hunt him down to give us straws for our drinks. they get 2 stars for the place being clean.

  • Justin B.

I've heard a few bad things about the place, like they let they're food sit out a long time, and that it's not fresh. But honestly, it food was really good and the turn around was really fast because the food would disappear within minutes of being put out while I was there. Customer service wasn't the greatest, had to find someone to refill the water and drinks and to take the plates away but I'm guessing because they were really busy. Other then that, I believe it was really good.

Went here last Monday for dinner and it was pretty A OK ^_^....they have a wide selection of chinese food and they also had dim sum which is one of my favs ^_^ Will have to give it high marks for their crab salad it was one of the best i have ever had.....the sushi was also supa yummies because the rice was seasoned just right...i am a fan and sushi maker myself and was supa impressed with the sushi rice...normally places do not know the vinegar/sugar/salt ratio...they overdo it one one or the other heheheheeheh..will be back soon to get my grub on again.....walnut prawns were yummy as well ^_^

Pros: Great selection, especially of seafood. High quality food for a buffet at an inexpensive price. Cons: Waitstaff could be more attentive. Beware of extra beverage charges.

My friend and I had lunch there yesterday. I would never compare this place to Mizu. The sushi was very below average, and there was nothing impressive about any of the other foods we tried...and we tried a lot of different things. If you just want to eat ALL YOU CAN EAT, and you are not driving very far, #1 offers an okay deal, but I will not go back.

What happen to this place? I am not sure if the chef is changed. I ended up there with my sister and daughter again looking forward to the wonderful lay out of the buffet. I was disappointed. It still has a lot of things you can munch on. But everything like crab legs and lobsters, or other delicious seafood delight are missing. It's $7.99 a person at lunch. I don't know if I will return.

I came here for a party, so I wasn't even paying. But apparently the buffet here is only $8. So for $8, it was what you would expect. I didn't eat as much as you typically would for a buffet, because i wasn't impressed by any of the food. The sushi wasn't fresh. There was a random pizza among all the asian food. And there would be alone dessert tray among all the chicken and fish trays. However, I would come here for the soup noodles for $8 and still get my money's worth. But aside from that, not worth coming back.

This place is just plain disgusting. Went there for dinner and was thoroughly grossed out. Some of the lowlights: the sashimi was disgusting..I took one bite of the "tuna" and promptly spit it up. It was was soooo water logged it was like eating a mushy sponge. Bonus points for having sashimi with bones in it. Nice. The crab was mushy and tasteless. Then you have the lobster vultures hovering around the emply lobster bin waiting for a the workers to refill the bin. Speaking of refill, the workers kept putting the picked over leftovers of lobster shells into the next fresh bin....uh..they were left over because there's nothing in them! The pieces of lobster I got were way overcooked and hella stringy. They have peking duck, but you get the smallest sliver of duck in there, but hella skin. If you're at the meat grill station, be sure to watch our items cuz the workers seem to have only one setting: charcoal. They really know how to abuse a piece of meat. There's a huge selection of crap to eat and I mean crap, yellow colored fried rice, nasty lo mein, greasy meats drowing in oil. Seriously folks, just don't eat here. Go to Del Taco, McDonalds, just be good to your stomach and avoid #1 Buffet. #1 Buffet..haha..what a bad joke reminds me of Seinfeld..Super Terrific Tasty #1 Buffet! On the plus side the staff were very quick to clear off used plates. I do wish the chopsticks came sealed in the paper wrapper cuz I suspect that maybe some washing, recycling, and stuffing had occurred, or maybe the wooden chopstick came from the factory dirty with food particles.

been here a few times..seem like it get worst each time. and i feel like they raised the price..32 dollar..buffet and 2 waters? the food was cold and stale ugh..i so regret going there. but just wanted the boyfriend to experience it and see would he like it...nopeeee. overpriced mediocre food. i'd rather go down the parking lot and order mc donalds..or get a sandwhich from walmart...and doesnt show the price very big. so i had no idea how much it was..

The buffet has an enormous selection of food for dinnertime - a sushi bar, salad bar, mongolian bbq, seafood (clams, oysters, fish), dim sum, soup, and various other entrees. I was a little disappointed with the seafood here. One fish dish I tried had a weird after-taste to it. Even though the place was packed when I went, it was fairly clean. For a quick family dinner, this place is decent.

This place was decent considering the price you pay for an all you can eat dinner! Steve L's review gives a pretty good overview of all the food. And there is A LOT of food. I've had better asian food, but you can't beat the price for a quick and filling dinner.

Ok, I better start reviewing Chinese Buffets and Restaurants since I am Chinese!!! It is best to get a review of Chinese places by someone who has eaten a lot of Chinese food (probably too much). This place has the typical salad bar area with a mix of Chinese, American or "Italian" (yeah, right), Sushi, Korean area and Mongolian BBQ area. For the Korean or Mongolian areas; you need to pick your meat / sides and have them cook it. I have never eaten at the Mongolian area here but have had the Korean. I start at the Korean and pick my meats and have the guy cook it while I go and get my grub at the buffet; then come back and pick up my K-rations. Ratings: Korean = B+ . . . I have not seen this at the other buffets I have been to. Chinese = B+ . . . better than China Buffet and Continental Sushi = C+ . . . could be much better but typical of most C-buffets. Mongolian = unrated . . . usually don't eat this at the C-buffets Salad Bar = unrated but looks decent . . . I usually skip this area Desserts = B- . . . ice cream cones were stale. Cookies kind of hard. Overall: I have eaten at Mizu, Continental, China Buffet, New China Buffet, Umeko and some others that I can't remember their names. Mizu is the best around town but I consider it to be more Japanese. I also think you get a better deal at lunch at #1 since I don't eat a lot of the seafood at night. Also, it is difficult to get the lobster since about at least 5 people were hovering over the lobster tray for 15+ minutes waiting for the restaurant to bring out a new tray. And some people are just pigs and take it all leaving you scrap . . . selfish pigs . . . snort, snort! Hey, can all of you C-buffets get some decent sushi. Go to the Mizu buffet and learn how buffet sushi should taste. Umeko's sushi is not bad for a C-buffet . . . Ranking of the Chinese Buffets I have tried (around town): 1) #1 2) Continental . . . not bad . . . 3) China Buffet (on Broadway) . . . inconsistent food; sometimes good . . . 4) Umeko (on Folsom Blvd) . . . cheap but not much food, not bad sushi 5) New China Buffet (on 65th Street) . . . clean up this place . . . ... 99) Yummy Buffet on Freeport Blvd. I would not eat here even if someone treated me. Please don't rate yourself in the paper saying your restaurant is the "Best Buffet in Town" since you are FARRR from decent.

Just ate at Number 1 Buffet again. I was starving today and would almost eat anything. I thought I'll try the sushi one more time before I made a final decision on whether I'll eat it again. Well, I did and it was still not good. It's tasteless and no shrimp in the sushi. I know it's not a requirement but that's my preference. I'm going to treat their sushi just like any Chinese buffet's salads; avoid it like the plague. Simply, there's no variety. The hot foods are excellent. Had the Korean pork, Sui Mai, vegetable chow fun, Bar B Que chicken, Mongolian Bar b Que, mushrooms, and won ton soup were excellent. There were a lot of other foods I didn't try but will come back to try again. However, like I mentioned before the fried rice was still yellow. Why yellow? It's as yellow as their macaroni and cheese and I wouldn't try it ever. Although, their service was surprisingly excellent. The waiter smiled and picked up our plates within 5 seconds when we placed it to be picked up. Yes, literally 5 seconds for picking up plates. I'll still give the restaurant no more than three stars.

I've eaten here more than once. The food's quality is standard fare for buffets. I have two issues will the place. IT'S DIRTY. My arm was sticking to the table. The staff is less than friendly except the cashier who will overcharge you with a smile on his face if you're not vigilant.

This was the second time to this buffet. Just another typical Chinese buffet. There are a lot of items to choose from. A few that I liked were ice-cream, brownie and fried shrimp. That's about it. For those who like seafood, there are a lot to choose from. Food quality was average. The price for lunch was cheap. Maybe it is the reason why it is always crowded.

I finally decided to try this buffet having passed by it many times. It seems to be always busy while the numerous other restaurants in the area look about to bite the dust. Anyhow, it was a 10 minute wait on a Saturday afternoon, and the price was only $7.95 per person. This is really cheap for all you can eat or for even just one dish at a typical restaurant. There was a huge variety to choose from, ranging from dim sum to Korean BBQ to sushi. The food looks very delectable. However, the taste of the food is a different story. Nothing is exceptional, but nothing was disgusting either. I would prefer a buffet with fewer selections but higher quality. The bright side is the dessert and fruits offered...difficult to go wrong there. At the price of $7.95, there is really is not much to complain about. I give it 2 stars for the food, and 5 stars for value. BTW, the service was very good.

Came here today on Dec. 14. The experience was decent but the problem is why are u going to serve crab without the crab cracker utensil. They brought it out 1 hr later and I thought that was really crappy. Now on to the food. The food was decent but the chicken on the skewer and the Korean BBQ had curry flavor to it. I don't know if it's me or what I never had Korean BBQ with curry and I eat at the Korean BBQ restaurant off of Bradshaw called OZ. It was busy I agree with everyone on that but the way the waitress take back the credit card transaction was really rude. They will literally stare at how much they had been tip before they pick it up from the table. The refill was consistent and so was picking up the dirty dishes. They do have a lot of food but there are a lot of cheap food there. The salad didn't have any other things to add on like olives and etc... I would go back there only because if a friend want to go.

If your not a picky eater then this is your place. you looking for sweet and sour asian food, They Got it, they even have Pineapple Chicken. AINT THAT DIFFERENT? it was good tho. the first time i went here the sushi wasn't that great, and the selection was small, it was on a sunday for my first time. but i went to day on a saturday and the sushi WAS GOOD! good selection. they have a chef that cooks up the raw meats you pick out. Mongolian bbq and fish you name it. Just watch out for the all the old ladies and gentleman when the Lobster tray comes out. Nothing but a train wreck waiting to happen. They pick up all the tongs and just grab and grab and grab. The Desert menu is good. Sponge cakes, and soft serve ice cream AND BIG SOFT PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES!! . If your a bodybuilder on a bulking cycle this place is a good one to go to. It has fiborous carbs and plenty of protein. I'm coming back to this place for lunch one of these days. YEzzir OFF TO REVIEW THE CORRAL!. I eat out Once a week WHo WANTS TO JOIN ME?

My mom heard from her friend that the place offer a variety of food and was really good. So we decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed at their variety. They had Korean BBQ, dim sum, Chinese food, sushi, salad bar, dessert bar, make your own noodle bowl and chow mien counter, and more. We went on a Sunday so it was $13.95 I was hoping to get what it was worth. Although the food looked pleasing, it did not taste good. The crab was fried and then stir fried which caused it to be dried up inside. The meat was falling apart and stuck to the shell. The sashimi was warm. The scallop on the shell was drench with oil. The Korean BBQ was over BBQ. The boiled shrimp and legs at the salad bar was too salty. I really don't understand why my mom's friend said it was good. The worst part was when we were done. I was full but not the good feeling of full, I was nauseate full. I wanted to throw up, but didn't. Funny part was my brother felt the same thing. In the morning we had the runs. We had to take two loperamide. Never going there again. Just because they are call No. 1 Buffet they are not No. 1. I had better.

They should post an "eat at your own risk" sign here as nothing looks fresh! The sushi they offer looks like it has been previously frozen and left out to thaw on the buffet table, their hot food lacks in flavor and the waiters fail to keep it clean, And I wouldn't go near the salad bar since it doesn't look like they take the time to properly clean their fruits and vegetables. The only thing I actually enjoyed eating here was their soft serve ice cream...(all the other desserts were a bit stale and I regret even picking them up) They do offer Mongolian and Korean BBQ options which is different and new but, as I stated above, they lack flavor and I don't trust the freshness of their ingredients. There is also a noodle station where your allowed to pick and choose items to assemble a soup but, the broth is too salty and I wouldn't recommend it. Overall, save your money and drive down the street to Huong Lan, TK Noodle, Asian Pearl... ANYWHERE but here.

For the quantity over quality peeps, this is a place you should try. I like that they have a HUGE variety for their food compared to many other Asian/Chinese buffets. However, the food is overall just okay. There's nothing I consider to be extremely delicious. But I really do enjoy the huge variety of all different foods. They have sushi, however, as much of a sushi-lover as I am, I never get sushi here. It's just very low quality in every ingredient... From the sauces, to the sashimi, down to the rice itself. The rice is always dry and somewhat hard. They have a Korean-BBQ bar where you out as much meat as you want on the plate and they will cook it for you. Despite that it's hot, fresh, and grilled right then and there for you, the marinate for it has a distinct taste of curry.... For some reason. Overall, just a very awkward taste on "Korean bbq". I never get this as well. Besides that, all the food on average is not too bad but not extremely good either. 3/5 on average for everything. 5/5 for the variety!

This place is suck in customer service and the food is not worthed paying for the price. Some of the fruits were not fresh so if you're thinking of Chinese buffet better go to Fuji. They always rushing and they want you to get out there as soon as you can. You will never enjoy your dinner with friends so better stay away from this place

Soups. Sushi bar, all you can eat crab. The waiters are always very genuine and kind to me as when I go in, I usually eat alone. A few days ago, one of them realized that I was a little cold when I got in there and brought me a sweater to wear. The food and selection are always great . The servers seem to keep the drinks filled. They have a Mongolian BBQ stand that taste amazing when I am in the mood for it and they remember my face when I come in the door. I am always greeted with a friendly welcoming smile and a good joke. These people are pretty awesome.

I am very impressed by the variety and some dishes are really good. I recommend two dishes of steamed fish, spring roll, seaweed salad, and make-your-order counters. If you can eat pork ears, then they are also good. If you like Mongolian stir fried noodle, don't forget to add sources (I like ginger and garlic). There are also some not very good dishes but I won't complain about those for the price I paid.

Above the door, the sign reads "No #1 Buffet". While I'm sure they were going for "Number 1 Buffet", I think the way it actually reads is a little more accurate. I've been to my fair share of Asian buffets (for better or worse) and this really is no #1 buffet. When it comes to buffets (especially Asian ones), expectations have to be adjusted. You can't (and shouldn't) walk in expecting fantastic food. So it's sad that even then, the food here still fell short. In fact, while their variety is impressive, it actually works against them since I still couldn't find anything good. The sushi selection was the first thing I checked out and I quickly turned away. Half of the trays sat empty while the other half looked highly unappealing - barely filled rolls and fish that looked suspect at best. Amazingly, the dim sum section was worse. Just trays and trays of food, steamed to death from sitting unwanted for so long. Honestly, the only things I found remotely passable were the "made to order" counters (didn't try their selection of seafood or desserts). Even then, it was only because I got to customize my bowl of noodles and Mongolian stir-fry they cooked for me. The rest of their hot foods (walnut prawns, sesame chicken, fried shrimp, egg rolls, potstickers, Korean BBQ, etc.) were a mix of overcooked, salty, dry, and otherwise not good. Since my friends hosted their rehearsal dinner here (and subsequently paid for everyone), I certainly don't want to offend them or come off as ungrateful. In the end, despite my opinion of the food, I was still more than happy to be there and honored to be part of the wedding party. It's just that, as the majority of the other reviews can attest to, the food simply isn't good. Even if the photos look better than what I had.

This was a bad buffet. The only things that were edible were the cooked fish, sushi, some of the chinese food, the noodle soups and kbbq. The fruits, pastries except the beignet, some of the chinese food like the chicken are not worth eating. The crawfish was the worst. THEY WERE LITERALLY DEAD. The first bite was a bitter nasty taste. Like if customers cant eat bad crawfish, why still cook them? Thats only giving you even lower stars/ratings. For the price, i guess it was worth a try, but never coming back again. I gave it 3 stars for the fish, spacious eating area, and AC!!! Fill your stomach up at a chinese or vietnamese restaurant.

I dont like this place. I think the hot food section is so messy on the counter and the food is bland. the sushi bar isnt cold enough and dont seem like its the correct temperature. the koran bbq I dont even bother because it looks over cook meat. I only go to the mongolian bbq and the noodle soup bar where they make it fresh. service for refilling water and taking away plates are usually not a problem. prolly wont be back dont like the vibe here.

2 stars just because 1. it was pretty great when they first opened, & 2. Okay pricing, but now it's just ughh. I have 2 bad experiences to report to you all. Last week my bf & I came in despite the last bad experience we had (almost a year ago) because we got hungry, and I thought we should give it another try. After what happened, I knew we should've just went somewhere else. This is the second time where the waiter asked for tip!! The first time, the guy did not refill our drinks until we had to ask TWICE, & then he did not clean up our old plates until they started piling up to where there were no room to eat! After we paid & got our receipt, he had the nerve to ask, "no tip?" uhh rude much? I was so annoyed I just gave him $1. Then recently, this other guy did the same thing. Didn't come over to clean our plates off the table. All the waiters were just standing around watching soccer. Plus, their sprite tasted like it was watered down. The pot stickers were all hard like it was left over from the day before. Also, Idk if the shu mai meat (pork dumplings) were supposed to be pink inside, but it was. The ones at happy garden aren't pink, I know that. While we were paying for our bill, the guy stood there waiting for us to throw tip in there. He didn't walk away until he seen me throw the tip on the table. Oh & another thing, when I went to the restroom, a lady came out of the stall & walked out without washing her hands. I noticed that she was one of the ladies that refill the empty trays. Ugh, gross!!!!! Health code violation... Anyways, lesson learned.

My spouse and I became horribly ill after eating here on Father's day last year. We used to come here all the time but between this, the rude service staff, and the fact that they can't seem to handle a busy day, we will not be coming back. I'm actually very disappointed as my grandmother loves this place but out of fear for her health I won't be bringing her to eat here again either.

This place never was as good when they first opened. Quality of food isn't the same anymore. Everything I tried we're mediocre at best. The service was ok. Typical at any buffet. Well, it is a buffet so I shouldn't expect anything from it. Food definitely not as good. A little oily and too much for my taste bud. It's like I was having a heart-attack eating it. My body was rejecting it or something. I would say that it's fairly priced and worth your money if you're into eating yourself into a coma. 2 stars. Wasn't satisfied at all.

    (2)
  • Kristel V.

Tried this place out just for some all you can eat crab legs. This place is pretty good, compared to other asian-style buffets in Sacramento. They had a variety of Chinese food (pretty good) and some sushi/sashimi (sushi at buffets never really taste good). Place was pretty clean, which is always a plus. Would come here again.

    (3)
  • Andrew S.

It's a good price for the large selection that is available. The Mongolian bbq is good and so is the noodle soup section. I like most things at this buffet except for the dessert selection and the sushi. You don't come here for the sushi or else you'll just be disappointed. If you want fancy sushi, don't be cheap and go Somewhere else. I'd recommend this place. You'll always find something to place on your plate no matter what you're craving.

No# 1 Buffet will give you a No# 1 Barffet.. maybe even an epic #2. This place has really gone down the poohole. It used to be ok when they first opened up years ago, but seems like they've gotten cheaper in terms of quality and variety. At first glance, it seems like a great buffet: lots of variety, different stations, seafood. But on closer inspection and taste... 1. Salt & Pepper Crab is OLD! It has the texture of crab that had been dead for days, and then cooked and masked with seasoning. 2. Crawfish is bland. Cold crab legs are bland. 3. Honey walnut shrimp is covered in stale batter and excessive sweet sauce. Other fried items look oil-soaked or dry from sitting out too long. 4. The oysters everyone lines up for is smothered in super salty soy sauce. Not even worth the wait! 5. Salmon filets look promising, but is so dry you'd think it was cooked in hell. 6. Most of the raw meat at the Korean station looks old and dry. 7. Sushi station should be renamed as Imitation Crab Salad and Rice Rolls. I asked the chef if he had tobiko and he said no.. wtf happened to the tobiko they used to have?! Actually, wtf happened to the fish in the rolls?! Or even tempura? 8. Everything else looks unappealing The only items worth putting in your mouth are the Korean BBQ short-ribs and the clams. Service is not bad. Never had a bad experience with them, but our last guy kind of looked at the bill and us when we didn't tip him. Hello! Gratuity was already tacked on because we had a large party! At $16 per person, this place is a rip for the kind of food they serve. The only reason we came here again is because Fuji's line was too long. Don't waste your stomach space here.

  • Linda Y.

Do you prefer quantity over quality? Then this is the place! There is an abundance of food from noodle soup, Mongolian beef, sushi, dim sum and lots of Chinese food. So much food, that I had to come back another day to try the other half of the selections. Although there was a ton of food to eat, I wasn't completely satisfied with any particular dish. Food just didn't have quite enough flavor. However, best service for any buffet I've ever been to!

I give this place a zero........ nasty yucky food my husband killed 4 ca ca roaches in the table called the lady in the front and tells them and she said sorry do you want more napkins... so we ask for a discount and they started talking their language and we paid 31 dollars I do not recommend this place to Noone nasty food

i came here to try the crab. in all fairness, their snow crab was actually fresh & plentiful - but that's pretty much one of the FEW good things i can say about this place. they had this weird imitation butter that kind of reminded me of a movie theater but it was thicker & almost slimy in texture. the couple different types of rolls they offered were of the prepackaged grocery store deli quality. i kind of blocked the rest out in an effort to stay positive. the food area looked clean enough but the floors/tables/booths in the dining - no bueno. the bathroom, don't even get me started. bottom line, i'll wait until friday or saturday and drive wayyyyyyyyyyyyy out to thunder valley's buffet & wait in their treacherous line next time i'm looking for lots of crab.

I have been coming here for a while and I must say that when it comes to Asian buffets I lower my standards, but this buffet falls short of my expectations even with the lower standards that I hold them to. For starters. I came here with seven friends and the waiters came by to refill our drinks ONCE. One refill in one hour. Before we are about to leave the waiter, you know the one who refilled our drinks once, was extorting us for a tip. I wasn't planning on leaving a tip since we had bad service, but being the nice person I am I pulled out a $5 bill and handed it to him. He responded with a disgusted look on his face and a rude tone saying, "$5 for 8 people?!" Although the variety is good the food itself is not very good. I was going to give it one star, but i decided to give it two because well... How should I say? It's an Asian buffet. Bad service is standard. On top of that it's on Florin and Power Inn. Anywhere in this area, bad service is the standard. With a combination of those two factors combined, you should already be expecting bad service.

Great service, fast, friendly and attentive. Food is hot and fresh, worth lots of flavor. Lunch is a bargain at 10$ a person. Will come back. They also have a Mongolian bbq that I'll try next time.

  • Minh T.

This place has a lot of good selection but the downside is the food is far from fresh. A lot of the food was literally hard and nasty. I tend to get stomachache whenever I go here. My family always like to plan events there hence why I go. So expect to not feel good after you ate.

    (2)
  • Yin I.

After awhile, the food all tastes the same. Sometimes, I question the freshness too. Go here for quantity but definitely do not expect quality. That and you have to hunt down a waiter or waitress if you want drink refills or any extra napkins or chopsticks. Sometimes, they don't even offer you drinks at all and you'll have to go ask for it yourself.

  • Hernan C.

Horrible service, bad mannered servers and rude. We felt rushed and when I paid they actually asked if I needed the change back the check came to 36$ and some change and I paid with a 50 dollar bill. I don't know what made them think that they deserved a tip at all after being so rude. Ps. The food is not that good ether, rather dry, but the soup was actually ok not the best but not the worst ether....

1/2/14 My boyfriend has heard about this place and wanted to try it out while I was in town, so I was like sure. I AM NOT ONE FOR A BUFFET and this place just reinforced that. To each their own if I have offended anyone. Buffets are just not my thing. I think when you mass produce food it loses something. The place is located in a shopping center so parking is no issue. When we get in we are greeted by the host and he seats us in a booth a little off from the buffet area. The waitress immediately takes our drink orders and we head out to see what the buffet has to offer. I got a few options that were ok, but not the best I've had of the items. The sushi was on point and made fresh as they ran out of particular rolls. So I definitely frequented this area over everything else. They have a great selection overall I will give them that Overall the place is neat and clean and provides and abundance of food. I didn't try the stir fry but boyfriend did and he like it. I did get an ice cream cone as we were heading out. I felt a little underwhelmed with this place. I really felt like I wasted calories for the day on this place. Like I said I am not one for a buffet. It was an ok place to me but for a buffet lover this is the place for you. I will always appreciate a place that can give more bang for your buck. That is the best thing to me about this place and the ice cream lol.

It can be a hit or miss very easy. The $10 price is hard to beat especially for the items served. The Korean BBQ is not like anything I ever tasted - BBQ'ed chicken wings, strips of beef and chicken, and a fish kabob - all okay but different that any Korean foods I've had. The sushi was okay - five types of rolls, and another four/five nigiri type sush (typical and boring). The soups were okay one was especially oily, They are very good about rotating their items to stay fresh. I just wish they would make their fish dishes more flavorful!! Plenty of choices, great price, buffet food, and ....

I was not at all impressed with their selection or quality of food. My soda had an oily coating on the top..GROSS The food was cold...Gross The place smelled a little dingy and fishy....gross Their only saving grace was the back area where you can pick out your veggies and noodles and have them cook up your food. But that lost points because the two guys sitting behind this cook area completely ignored me while I stood there like a moron waiting for them to finish their conversation with a plate full of veggies in my hand. Lame There are better places to eat, go their instead.

Rude waiters and waitresses. Instead of refilling my drinks and collecting plates.! For a party of 4. Plates was just stacking and stacking .!! Had to wave down a waiter to refill my drinks. They sat at a table and started counting their tips. For sure they weren't counting my tips.! Left and will not return.! Food was disgusting Lack of flavor or just too much sauce .! Meat was dry.!! Over cook.! Dessert was dry.! Fruit wasn't sweet.! Everything was just horrible.

Loved it! Everything was delicious, the Honey walnut shrimp was my favorite. And they also have a Mongolian barbeque style section where you load your plate up with everything you want and they grill it for you on the spot. I highly recommend this place when you are super hungry and looking to get your money's worth. Oh and forgot to mention they have unlimited crab, oysters, mussels and clams. I mean you cant beat that for only $15 at dinner or $9 at lunch.

The food here is pretty fresh. Especially on a Sunday, since it is busier on weekends. The 1 star I am giving to this place is for their service. We leave the table to go get food and the waitress is on our back asking if we are leaving, as though we are planning on walking out without paying. She did this to us about 2 or 3 times. The group of friends I was with all thought it was very rude of her. I do not think I will be coming back because of this. Service needs improvement, and as far as I see, it has just got worse.

Price is more than fair for the variety. Yes, you still have to tip at a buffet. They usually work harder then a regular restaurant. Got it?

THEE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. instead of standing around staring at people eating why dont yall check up on the customers, refill our drinks, remove our empty plates from the table, and stop with the ugly attitudes. My family and i came here to enjoy the meal and the environment hoping to have a friendly server to take care of us but NO.. you rather stand by the corner pick your nose and not give a shit. We are not paying you to give us a horrible time there. If you hate your job or your life so much then find a job that suits your attitude or just quit and have the boss hire better employees. Im young and i've experienced waitressing for 4 years and i can do much better. On the other hand, the pineapples are good, but your service isnt! okay im done. i wont come here again.

I went here when they first opened( nasty then) and recently I saw that they had remodeled and decided to give it a try and it's the same now. If you like quantity over quality then this is the place to be. They do have a huge selection and there service is pretty good but the food is just terrible.

First off I want to give 5 stars for the service. The waiter never let my cup get halfway empty. Staff was very polite. The food on the other hand was just ... ok. Not one dish really stood out. But they did have a wide variety of items to choose from. I guess you can't really expect much from a buffet..... right?

A lot of variety but they seemed to be slow on replenishing drinks as well as food... Specifically crab legs and shrimp

Food quality are very disgusting and old. I would never go back here again. Poor service and people in the cashier/front are very rude. Today, internet is down and no credit cards are accepted. Got treated like is our fault for not carrying cash. The situation were not handle professionally and not communicated to the customers prior seating the customers. I feel like they violated me. I guess they don't care if you go back or not. In this case I would never go again and I will make sure I will let all my family, friends and co-workers know how suck this place are.

Food was so bland!! Undercooked & overcooked! Will never go back! Some positives because everyone deserves some credit, drink was always refilled, waiters where on stand by for my needs,I liked the orange chicken and soft serve!

First off let me start on the quality of the food.. HORRIBLE! I came around dinner time so I would've expected them to have fresh meat and rice dishes. Everything was either soggy or crunchy from sitting out for too long. The fruits looked dirty and not fresh. My strawberry even had mold on it! My tables were also sticky and greasy. Ok now the service. Even worst than the food! When we got there, they seated us a table for 6 not 8. So they took us to the back where we can seat ourselves but there were only tables of 4. Uh wth!? Then the waitress bumped the booster seat on my daughters head. After that she forgot our soda order twice and gave me attitude when I asked for water. After we were done we were going to give tip even after she rushed us for us to leave but she had the nerve to TELL US we didn't leave tip. So my sister in law grabbed the extra change and left. YOU SHOULD NOT ASK FOR TIP! That's rude and you need to train your staff. I don't care if they're Asian and that's how they are I'm Asian and I would NEVER treat customers like that. I wish I was able to give 0 stars because 1 is over the amount the should receive. Never will I come back to this place. The owner needs to look at the yelp reviews and learn how to train their staff properly.

My parents and their friends had lunch here and left without tipping. They were leaving the restaurant and the manager walked out after them telling them that they DIDN'T INCLUDE TIP. And the waitress looked all upset and pissy that she didn't get a tip. Effin kidding me?! First of all, it's a buffet and tip isn't mandatory. Second of all, tip is never mandatory. You deserve what you get. If you got nothing, YOU DIDN'T DESERVE IT. Another time before this, I was there with my parents. After my dad paid, the waiter stood there waiting for his tip. My dad gave him a few dollars just to be nice. I used to be a waitress and I know how to respect people and earn my tips. Also, food here is average, maybe even below average. Save yourself some time, money, and pissed-off-ness and do not come here. If I can give 0 stars, I would.

I've been here many times for lunch or dinner, and I can't say I've enjoyed it each time. Though the name of the restaurant boasts being #1 Buffet, I can't agree with it. They have a nice variety of food: small selection of Japanese food, small corner of Vietnamese Pho, Mongolian BBQ, and then a variety of other Chinese food from dim sum, fried chicken, crawdads and crab legs (dinner only), and etc. Though there is great selection, quality is lacking. But I guess you pay for what you get here.

Yum - awesome food / great variety! Just make sure you read the labels - or you'll end up with chicken feet, ham hocks, frog legs, etc.,.

  • Jessika W.

Only bad thing I can say is that we don't eat at many other places now that we have fallen in love with #1! Food is always fresh, sushi bar is almost always stocked and if it's missing something or you want a specialty roll they will make anything on request. Can't go wrong with the all you can eat crab legs either. Anywhere else and you're spending $20+ for the crab alone NOT eluding the buffet of everything else. Highly recommended. 5s foooor sure.

I will never return to No 1 buffet in my whole entire life. They need to change their name to No.1 Cold food buffet instead. I've been there once before and thought I'd try it out again. I was so disappointed that I placed food on my plate that was cold. I immediately let the waitress know that the food was cold, and also let a young man know as well. He told me to get food from the middle and so I tried the second time. I got the same exact food and tried going in the middle to see if that'll make a difference. Nope it sure didn't. I asked if they were going to bring out more hot food I can eat and enjoy while I'm spending 15.95 for a buffet anyway. No response, he just walked away. When I asked him about the wontons, he mentioned to me that those were for lunch time and that's why they are cold and that when their gone, their gone, and that they can't make anymore. My thing is that if you are going to serve stuff from lunch time, they shouldn't even be out especially if it's cold. It's a restaurant for Christ sake. So anyways, I got another plate, still cold food and I just sat it to the side and the guy came right away and grabbed my plate and slid the bill to me. I told him I will not be paying for food I didn't even get to eat or even enjoy. So I asked to speak to the manager he asked me if I got the food from the side , because that's where the food is more hot at. I explained to him that the young man said try it from the middle but it shouldn't matter what side you pick food from it shouldn't be cold. I told him I'm not going to pay for food I didn't eat and so he told me to pay $20 because I was with one other person that felt the same way about the food. I wasn't even in there for 20 minutes either. Worst experience ever. Will never return, thanks for nothing but a waste of my time and money !

Pretty terrible. The food quality was very poor and it seemed like a sweat shop was running this venue. I remember one of the cooks was screaming at one another while serving the customers. Despite the bashing, there is variety to the buffet. For one, there is ice cream and several oily Chinese Food. Overall, there are better buffets out there and I think you should go to Fuji's if you want more bang for your buck!

Treated my staff here on a minimum day and the food was horrible. The waitresses did not refill our drinks. The food was disgusting. At first I liked the mushroom chicken but when I came home I had food poisoning. Worst pain ever. 3 of my staff members got sick off the food also. do not go here do not take your children here!!!

  • Mindy X.

I only come here because I like their chow mein. But probably will not be returing. They didn't even bring any water to our table, I had to wave a waiter down for some. But what pissed me off was when the waiter came back with my debit card and had already taken a 15% tip without my consent! What in the fuck kind of shit is that?! We haven't even been there an hour and they've already brought out our check. And not to mention it was only me and two kids. How dare they fucking take a 15% when they know damn well they do not deserve it.

Yelpers BEWARE! If your looking to get a bad case of food poisoning or even the Hershey squirts if you know what that is,"Diarrhea". After working in the food industry myself I witnessed many occasions of food contamination between raw beef and other items. The food was bland and overly salted. You can cut the msg "monosodium glutamate" gravy with a fork and that scares me. After eating a few items I was done, I just had to fill up on the stuff that was either purchased or the fruit bar. I think this place can be great as long as they step up the food safety/seasoning and work on customer service with the servers/bussers. Also my friend discovered a long black thick hair in the orange chicken and was about to throw up all of the greasy food consumed. I probably won't be coming back in the near future only if I was forced with a gun to my back.

Although the food here isn't superb, it is edible... And you have a lot of selections. Food is mediocre. their price justifies why their food quality isn't so great. Overall, its worth a visit when you really crave Chinese greasy food. Its super cheap for lunch! I would pick No1 buffet over Hometown Buffet anytime!

I am always invited to celebrations here. Why do people pick this place for celebrations? Most of the food here gives me a stomachache or it doesn't taste that good. What I like: Some of the fish they have has okay flavoring Like all buffets most of the desserts are nice Unlimited Mongolian BBQ Their Icee drinks are in huge cups, though I think you can only get one, I never tried asking for another.

Somehow I mistakenly took No 1 buffet for Canton. My friend was hungry and wanted No 1 buffet, but I was kind of iffy about it since I thought it was Canton and my friend was not being specific about it until he told me the location and that's when I decided to go. I can't expext anything less from an Asian buffet. The variety selections of food were good. Finally, there's a buffet with Watermelon and pineapples and other fruits. Oh, and there's Pho too.

I came here on thanksgiving and there was food on the ground as the waiters would pass by the food on the ground I noticed that they didn't pick it up after 10 minutes later it was pretty disgusting to see food just laying thereand this was my first time being here I would definitely not be coming back. The workers there looks like they didn't care they were just sitting around and really wasn't busy at the moment but I suggest them having better customer service

    (2)
  • Jake J.

The food is good except I don't like it when a waiter waits and waits to make sure you give them tips even when the service is bad. The tip should be base on the good service you receive not because they follow you to the table.

  • Chu S.

Tonight will definitely be the last time I will be eating here. Old dried food was poured on top of the fresh food. Sushi bar was not as I expected. Most trays were empty. The desserts was nasty, staled, dried and hard! Customer services sucks. Had to asked for refills and napkins. I understand that they are afraid people are going to eat and walk out without paying, so they'll stand there and stared at u, once they hand u the tab. It is really uncomfortable when they do that and you're still eating. Every time we took out our wallets the waitress comes by. SMH. What they care most is tips! Yes, tips! I dont mind leaving tips if the waitress/waiter was doing his/her job but on a slow day?! They have no shame asking for tip! The girl "amy" said: where is the tip? The amount here (pointing to the tab) does not include tip. *they will not walk away until u tip them. Lol...they'll mumbled in their language if the tip is less. Seriously, a customer doesn't have to leave you a tip. Tonight services & food doesn't deserved a star but I'll be nice and leave one! Only 1. I do NOT recommend this so called No. 1 Buffet. Staff are rude but expect a good amount of tip.

Just like what the 2 star rating says, "meh, i've experienced better." And that's all you really need to know about this restaurant. If you MUST try it and really want Chinese buffet food, try it once and see for yourself. Because i think the food that they had was mediocre at best. I'm not a very picky eater when it comes to buffets, but if there's some stuff i don't want to try because it looks a little iffy...then i don't know, lmao. Then again, that's just me. I would rather spend the same amount of money to eat at other restaurants around the area than here, to be honest. But this is just my opinion, take it with a grain of salt.

Well I like this place to a certain extent. The food is great and overall, there is lots of food as well as BBQ your goods and stuff. The food is always replenish so that wasn't a problems when you want to come back for the same stuff. The problem is just the waiters and waitress. It's the tip people!!!!! I find it so rude that they are asking for tips when kind of ruins the mood. Weekends are also very pack so beware!!!

Fried crab is delicious and so is the otherr food. Prices could be more in the affordable range because the food is good but not all of it probably about 75% of it.

#1 Buffet? HA. Yeah. Flipping. Right. Group of 4 of us headed here on a Saturday night for dinner. Worst mistake we could have ever made and trust me, we've made some pretty bad mistakes in our lives... We served our first plate of food and boom! Right away we realized that our food was completely cold. Literally, like it was in the damn refrigerator. Now, don't get me wrong, I knew not to come into a chinese buffet "restaurant" with high expectations... but damn girl, at least tease me first and try and make me believe your subpar food is worth it. We informed management in an effort for the food temperatures to be brought up to standards. They then told us we "needed to mix the food" and that the food temperatures were at standardized levels. Minutes later, the manager arrives at our table and informs us again that the food temperatures were a little higher than what regulations state they should be at. Literally 2 degrees higher than what is "required." LOL, okay that's believable with your ice cold food. Thank you kind sir for attempting to mitigate the issue. We then proceeded to go for another round of food in an attempt to give the food one more chance. So, off we go; we vigilantly foraged through the food stations attempting to find something hot. "Please dear lord, grace us with HOT food," we begged. We rummaged, poked around, thoroughly explored, etc. "Alas! We found seemingly 'hot' food!" we exclaimed. Off we go back to our table... excited to taste the warmth goodness bestowed upon us in our mouths... Yeah, JK. It wasn't even warm. Still cold. No matter! We shall venture onto the dessert station. There's absolutely noooo way they can screw that up. We locate the ice cream machine and pour our vanilla ice cream. YES, thank you! Finally, something I can enjoy tonight. Now... where are the ice cream toppings? Wait... lol. No way. No toppings? No nuts?! No fudge?! WHAT. Whaaattttttttt. Meh, whatever. Minutes later after realizing how sad of an experience we had at this establishment, we receive the bills. We really should have went to the McDonald's next door and ate from their value menu. At least we would have received HOT food. Anyway, we signed our 2 separate bills with the server standing there waiting for us to sign them. Uh, okay. Let me sign in peace, sir. We hand the receipts to him. He then states: "uh, is that a zero? *points to tip section*" Us: Umm, yeah? him: "lol... dafuq, okay." BRO, really?!! We WERE going to leave a CASH tip until you asked us why we did not leave a tip then scoffed us off when we confirmed that yes, that was a zero written on the tip line. Literally the last thing to make this experience worse than what it already was. Anyway, point is... don't waste your time here. Go to McDonald's next door instead. Sigh, i'm still hungry.

I've been to this place three times. The hot food in the middle isn't very good, but the Mongolian BBQ, the noodles, and the Korean BBQ are really good! However, on my recent visit, I got food poisoning from eating one of the meat dishes and was sick for a couple days. So eat at your own risk! Good if you don't get sick!

My first time and it will definitely be my last time... I came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The price per person is cheap for $8.45 during lunch hour. Oh and as an FYI, soda is an additional charge. They have a fairly big selection of food items to choose from including Japanese sushi, Korean BBQ along with Mongolian BBQ. The food served here is low quality and is certainly not fresh. I filled my plate during my first round with noodles (hoa phan), cream cheese wontons, dumplings, corn and green beans. The noodles were actually pretty decent compared to everything else I ate. Although it was a little on the oily side. The dumplings were not warm from what I remember and tasted like they were left overs from 2 days ago. Cream cheese wontons were not crispy nor were they fried long enough! They were cold and you can almost taste the doughy texture when you bite into one. The green beans appeared to be wilted and bruised, but they still cooked them anyway. After my first round, I was hesitant to try something else! A lot of the hot food items looked very greasy and non appetizing. During my second round, I only got beef tripe and chicken feet. Took only one bite of each and that was it! The beef tripe was way too salty! My dining companion agreed with me as well. The chicken feet was cold and really did not taste fresh! I didn't want to risk getting a stomach ache!! As you can tell, I definitely did not get my money's worth here. Although it's cheap, I'd probably recommend you eat elsewhere. I'm not a huge fan of buffets, but I have tried other buffets where the food is actually decent!!!

  • GoodThoughtz F.

Just ignore the negative reviews. People can't just go to buffets and expect to eat high class food. This place is as good as it could be for such a good price. There is a wide selection of food, yet every dish tastes pretty good. Everyone has his/her own opinion, but it seems to me that those who gave this place negative remarks, expected way too much for a buffet. Dim sum was not bad compared to restaurants, soups were good, chicken feet were no less flavorful than dim sum restaurants, dumplings were great, sushis were fair, a wide selection of other food, what more could you ask for?

Stopped in when I was in the area visiting my daughter. The sushi bar needs an epic overhaul. In fact, the whole place needs an epic overhaul. On this particular day, they only had variations of the California Roll. California Roll with avocado sauce, Calif Roll with Sriracha sauce, Calif Roll with Hollandaise sauce, Calif roll with blah blah sauce. There were no tuna rolls, no salmon rolls, no fish rolls whatsoever. Need to hire a chef who can make a variety of sushi other than Calif roll. The whole food selection was less than mediocre. Usually when my family goes to a chinese buffet, we're sampling everything. At this place, selections were not very appetizing; messy and picked over. The dining area was kind of dirty. There's a section for the waitresses/waiters that you pass by as you go to the dining hall on the right side upon entering the restaurant. It's where the waiters get drinks and put dirty dishes away. This section was disgusting and clearly within view of the diners. Not ever going to return. This place is not #1. It made me go #2.

So this place should rename the sushi bar to imitation crab roll bar. There were no normal nigiri or sushi rolls with fish on them. The food was all of the typical Chinese frozen bag stuff, probably from Sysco foods or some cheap supplier. It all tasted dry or heavy with sugar. The only good thing was teryaki chicken thighs. The desserts all had little to no flavor and the fruit was dry and tasteless. Then when you pay the waitress thinks the $5 and something change is hers automatically. So you have to call them back and ask for your change, then they say OH SORRY, and come back with the most crinkled one dollar bills you have ever seen in your life. Steer clear of this place, its expensive and the food is cheap/stale tasting.

Never again. Hubby is next to me: "I didn't eat! Tastes like poopoo! Tastes like yuuhcky!". Quantity over quality, chewy beef in the broccoli beef, rubbery bones in the chicken, crab not the freshest, service at the table was not good. We arrived at 8:30 and were being hustled out the door at 9:25 (they "close" at 9:30). But a gentleman was kind enough to lift the plastic wrap off the desserts at 9:15 so my daughter and I could grab what looked like the most palatable dessert on the table. Which is the reason for the extra star. Biggest waste of $50 (2 adults and a 9-yr old) ever. But now we know; I see Dickies, Sizzler, Panda Express next time.

I came here on a Sunday.... Super hungry despite the iffy reviews.... Anyways it's super pack... So I am thinking... Hmm $15.00 a person it must be good right?? Server: super nice... Refilled my drink and clear the table Food: why r the crab legs cold??? They have warm crab but it's not snow crab. Green beans under cooked... A lot of the meat really dried...this banana pudding thing is uhh... Sooo gross like sour... A lot of stuff was cold... Chow mein is made with spaghetti noodles. But Clams are delicious. The fruit uhhh...not sweet at all... That includes the watermelon, strawberries and cantaloupe... Probably won't be coming back but I had to see for myself

I've been to nearly every asian buffet that's come and gone from Sacramento over the past 10 years and this was by far the most disappointing. Some lowlights: sashimi was wet anf d the sushi "chefs" were squatting behind the buffet station doing I don't know what. Most food was overcooked and dry. Nothing was crispy that should have been etc etc etc.

Recently went to this place with a friend for lunch. Pluses: lots of food to choose from, cheap meal. Negatives: Very bland food, not good at all, waitress didn't know the difference between sweet tea and raspberry tea, brought out wrong drink twice. I will not be back here~

Everything I come here I ask myself two questions. Why am I here and how is this place still open? The answer to both is people like me get dragged here because of their low prices. Food is terrible and service isn't much better. I don't think they throw away any food here until the day is over. They know if left out some poor soul will eventually eat it.

OMG!!! This place is filthy!! And if you have carpeting in the dining area, chances are it's also saturated with old, moldy food, drinks and other unmentionables. We could not believe how dirty this place was.... Good thing we took a quick walk around the place before took a quick WALK OUT!

Loved this place!! I love how they have so much variety of different food to everyone different choices. I love the hot grilled area. Habachi, pho station, dim sum, unlimited sushi for all you sushi lovers. And very fast service. I recommended this one fir Abby occasion. Family oriented, big groups are ok, always refilling hot food , clean, abd FRESH..

when they first opened they were good but, i went there the other day and everything is just like another buffet... Plain and boring. the dessert taste like wax and the quality of the food is just not there. the servers watch you like you are going to stick something in your pocket. I was putting my keys in my purse and the lady kept looking at me. If you go before dinner you might think you got a great meal for the price but the $14. price tag per person is a rip off. go by something at the store and make it yourself. They are waiting at the counter like vultures for your money...

It's nasty and has poor service. The food tasted old and I wanted to barf after eating it. Never coming again. The service is poor. The cashiers just stand and talk to each other, seems like they don't care. The food is gross.

We came with my family to enjoy a nice meal and little did we know that we would be completely grossed out finding a WORM In one of my cousins plate! Not only that but the manager didn't even apologize, all he said was "oh it happens some times".

It's buffet food people, you can lower your expectations a little. Whenever i come here I normally get the same stuff im used to as that's about the only thing that tastes somewhat decent. I highly encourage you to not eat the sushi. Many times the rice is super mushy or soggy. They also have just about the most inexpensive rolls out there, such as a roll with just seaweed salad in it or rolls with canned tuna salad in it. This is also the only restaurant i know of/have been to that gives you your credit card receipt for you to sign and hovers over you to make sure you give them a tip. They then immediately take the store copy of the receipt and give you the customer copy. - all the normal places give you both receipts, yours and the stores and leaves you alone. Some other yelpers say that they complain when you dont tip enough/yell at you or other many crazy things and I believe it. I did leave them with a decently sized tip though.

I try to limit my yelp review to only positive ones, but it needs to be said: No #1 Buffet is a perfectly fitting title because it definitely is not the #1 buffet in the neighborhood. The flavor just isn't there. I would rather go down the street to little ol' Tahiti and get a fraction of the food for twice the quality. You can't expect much from a cheap buffet, but I definitely expect not to find pieces of suran wrap in my mouth from their sushi. I don't expect for a waiter to complain that I only gave him a $2 tip when all he did was fill up my water once. I also don't expect to get charged BEFORE my meal when the other people around me, including a single Asian guy, was charged AFTER. It wasn't classism, I had a suit. Was it racism? I have no idea but I was completely offended and will never come here again.

Its hit and miss with this place. Sometimes the quality of the food is good, considering its a buffet, but others, the food tastes old. It depends on how busy it is i guess. If you like all you can eat crab, then this is the place for you

I would come here more often but they wouldn't give me a break on charging me for my 7 yr.old son who hardly eats anything. I like the vast variety of food to choose from and the service is ok. I always get my fill of honey walnut prawns and sushi as well as shellfish. I'm usually hurting from stuffing myself whenever I eat here. They would get 4 stars if they would give us a discount for my son.

Went here the other day I think 2 days ago for dinner. I got to say I was really disappointed. Everything literally everything was cold! And old! The shrimp tasted like powder! And the salad bar was so empty and that was the only thing good was the salad! The ranch could cut down on the salt! It was really salty that it was hard to eat with the salad. The seafood variety look old! The sushi was okay but so great but better than the rest of the there. Over heard the lady say don't make so much food there's no one here. And already everything was old.. Never again will I come here for dinner! 34 dollars for 2 people an barely ate a thing cause everything was so nasty! Could of went to jack in the box for better hot food! And the waitresses don't even know their foods! Or English.. They just nods their head and smile..

This place is going downhill. Although the service is improving the food is moving in the opposite direction. The food is either bland or too salty. They are getting CHEAP to. The sushi selection is CHEAP, no tobiko, masago, tako, eel or even salmon. It is mostly imitation crab, avocado and CANNED TUNA. The sashimi that is on the sushi is sliced super thin, CHEAP. If you go to the hot food expect to find LOTS of batter and little meat in anything fried. This place still has a big selection, so if you want to get your grub on go here.

No stars for this buffet! I love buffets and I will show no love for this place because I have standards -most specifically food should taste good! My hubby and I came here on a weekday and all the food tasted like rubber. The seafood tasted old like it was frozen then unfrozen and then cooked to rubberdom. The cooks and owner of this place should taste their food before putting it for their customers! If the food tastes gross or if they know it's not prepared to be consumed by humans, don't serve it!!! I'm pissed because I couldn't eat anything and I spat all of it out except for the cookie and the waiter gal asked for her tip. While my stomach hurt I told her no tip. She said no? tip, tip, tip, tip! My response? I walked out and farted my way out while holding my stomach. Owner and cooks- eat your own food before serving it to the public. Don't just get by on greed and taking people's money. Fix it!!!!

Been here twice. First time I went, really enjoyed it. The fried rice reminded me a lot of the rice served in NYC. Most of the food items were pretty good. The second time I went, I went with friends and family on a Saturday evening and we all got sick. Haven't been back since. I was told by a coworker that the best time to go is when they first open, for the lunch buffet as everything is pretty fresh. Willing to try it a third time (third times a charm) and see how it goes.

I've been to a lot of Chinese places. But this one was the worst. The food was not that great and the service was horrible. After getting our drinks they where not refilled. We had a stack of plates that where not taken from our table. For a total of ten people I paid around $130.00. The waiter stood over us till we stood up. Thinking she just wanted to clean the table. After we stood up to leave the lady asked for a tip, I told her I was not going to leave one and she got loud and said that I had to leave one. She said this in a very rude manner so I got mad, telling her what I thought about her service and how she didn't deserve a tip. Which by the way a tip is optional and not mandatory. If I where you I'd go to happy garden in Elk Grove or Fuji sushi buffet. Also in Elk Grove. In conclusion, I will never come here again. Save your money and just got somewhere else where you will be treated better.

Seated. Waited 20 mins for water. Asked a waiter standing around, litterally walked to another waiter talking to customers to get it for me. Waiter another 15min finally got water. Middle of eating gave me the check. Got my change back like $5 and WAITER TOLD ME TO GIVE HIM THE MONEY FOR TIP ! SERIOUSLY ?! WORST SERVICE ! NEVER GOING BACK

WOW... And I don't mean that in a good way either. I came here to celebrate my BF's brothers bday. I have been here a few times, but each time I become less and less impressed. Restaurant - Big, lots of places to sit. Service - Slow to refill drinks and pick up used plates. Food - Yes, they have variety, but just because there's lots to choose from doesn't mean they have to give up taste and quality. Beef and broccoli - too oily! Fried food - Dry, hard to chew and bland Mongolian BBQ - Oily Grill - Marinade is bland and they over cooked it OR left some pieces still mooing. Needless to say, I won't be coming back.

This place is unhealty and not sanitary, everything is fried and oily, if you wanna gain 50 pounds of fat in one day than be my guess, food is made cheap n lazy by frying everything, omg fried crabs? Come now you mess up the crab taste n the meat inside no. Point of eating it

It's ironic how this place calls themselves the "Number 1" buffet, because quite frankly, they are no where near number 1. Let's talk quality. For each and every item, you can taste the meat is hard and is probably reused whenever there is leftovers the night before. It's the type of hardness that you will chew and not be able to swallow because it's simply not fresh. Not only the meat is hard and stale, the batter on the outside of things such as the Honey Walnut Shrimp or the Orange chicken is also stale. The food here is non-edible. A waiter or waitress will ask you if you want any drinks. Usually, drinks are free at any given buffett, however, they will charge you for drinks. Highly unprofessional because they don't even tell you! I regret going here, because you don't even get what you paid for!

We were looking for buffet restaurants around Sacramento on the way back home from Lake Tahoe. Searched on yelp and this restaurant only has 2.5 stars, but we decided to give it a try. The food was amazing! I loved the sushi, crab legs, and Mongolian BBQ. I love the variety they have. They are pretty cheap too. $15/person for dinner. We have picky eater kids and to our surprise, they ate well here. Would definitely go back again.

The name on the front door is somewhat fitting and ironic at the same time "NO #1 Buffet". I know what they were trying to call their restaurant, but in the end they set themselves up for failure. The name is perfectly correct, stating "NO" we are NOT #1. Positives, it's cheap for a buffet with LOTS of options. Negatives, most items are not fresh and do not taste good. I've been here a few times, but the last couple of times I just stuck with making my own noodle soup, since I'm basically the one cooking the food. When this place first opened, it was decent 3-4 stars. But it was all downhill from there.

Just went there 1/15/13. Horrible service!! The lady waitress was always giving us rude looks when we asked for more cups is water since they did not give the kids water. My brother paid up front for two adults and one child already but they still billed me for them so I told her. She said nothing and snatched the bill from my hand and started to confront and accuse my brother that they did not pay yet. My brother told her he paid and showed her the receipt. She didn't say anything and just walked away. She didn't apologized which I think she should of. In the end her coworker brought me the balance of the bill instead. I figured she was tired of dealing with us. Here is another friends review. Bad as well facebook.com/jane.xiong.…

You can never go wrong here. Great selection, and the food is always fresh from the kitchen. The servers are courteous and attentive to your every need. And if you arrive a little early for lunch, no problem - walk right up to the buffet. People begin to arrive as early as 10:15 am. For the price, $9.16 out the door for lunch, you can't go wrong. It beats Tahiti Chinese Buffet down the street, China Buffet on Broadway or Umeko off of Folsom - hands down! On a side note: watch out for "Wendy" the server. If you don't leave her at least an 18% tip, she will follow you out chirping, "tip! tip! ru give me one moh dahlah foh tip! tip!" She will keep chirping until you give her what she wants. Hard to believe, but so incredibly true. So if she waits on you, try leaving without leaving a hefty tip - you'll see...

I've never been a really big fan of Number 1 Buffet. I usually only go there when my family goes. I've probably been there about 5 times.. All the other 4 times I've been there the food wasn't freshly made, still crunchy & was still cold. The waiter & waitresses did nothing but stand around & basically watch everyone eat. There's always a time where I have to call over to someone to clear the table or to refill our drinks. I went there yesterday with 5 other people. The waitress tried to seat us at the smallest table until we moved ourselves to a bigger table. The smallest table is for 4 people. When she realized we moved tables she asked is why we moved. We had to tell her that she sat us at the smallest table & we wouldn't be able to eat. After getting our plates we sat down, got our drinks & as soon as the drinks ran out I asked her if we can get a refill. 10 mins passed by still no refill. So I asked her again. Another 5-10 mins still no refill. So I decided to ask another waitress, she came right away with our refills. Even after asking for refills our table started piling up with the plates. Barely anywhere to eat, out waitress walked passed us a few times & never picked up one plate, so as soon as she passed again I had to ASK her to clear the table. Which she did as quickly as possible. I was already IRRITATED with her service. WE paid the full amount, as soon as she got the money in her hand she said "The check doesn't include tips.." My mom being nice decided to give her a tip. Asking for a tip is RUDE. She didn't deserve it. & It's not mandatory to leave a tip. After my mom told me she gave her a $5 tip. I walked to the cashier asked for a manager which was a female & I told her that she needs to train her employees better & that she needs to speak to them about asking for tips. Her employees are rude & did nothing for us & it's embarrassing for her to run a business where her employees have to ask for tips..

Had dinner at this place tonight. Food was over all not good but the worst part was the award hovering the waiter did when we were signing the receipt. When my hubby wrote down the amount of the tip he laughed and then wouldn't leave. He stood at the corner watching until we were out of the restaurant. Pretty creepy. My thinking ... It is a buffet you don't HAVE to tip there. The fact that we gave any tip at all was more than we had to do. The food is WAY over priced for the quality and I'm still not sure I wont have some tummy issues tonight. IF there is a good review of this place, I would suspect it is fake, this place is very bad.

I hate crawfish. I hate that the smell of crawfish is so strong here, especially when you first walk in. But other than that...They have great selection here. There is a section of korean bbq...mongolian bbq....pho...and sushi too. The food is okay too. Its always busy here.

Got good supply of staple Asian food! What else is there to say? I work in a buffet for a casino, and my buffet has nothing compared to this buffet. They serve sushi, oysters, king crab legs, shrimp, and salt n' pepper crabs. You also got your variety of Chinese food such as broccoli beef, chow mein, and etc. $13.95/adult and $7.95/kids.. That price is such a bargain!!! I would recommend this buffet for families that roll deep, yafeelme? Haha! This buffet is much better than your Golden Corral, Hometown, Umeko on Folsom blvd., and your casino buffets!!

One great thing I love about sacramento is the buffets. I love the variety so I would give this place a 5 star but I am not going to ignore the recent price hike. It's about 17$ for dinner with tip a person so go someplace else where mediocrity is more affordable.

I've been to No 1 Buffet three times since it's grand opening. First time was because the sushi chef from where I worked at recommended it because of their crab legs. Second time was because my bigbro and I were starrrrving after our snowboarding trip. Third was for one of my best friend's graduation lunch celebration. All three times the food was mediocre. Don't expect much from this place. Very standard buffet food. They have sushi, soups, vegetables, fish, meats, fruit, and dessert. Note the fruit was not fresh. *sadface*. No 1 Buffet is a typical cheap Chinese buffet. I also find it funny how their sign says No #1 Buffet. Makes it look like No number one buffet. :P

Ok, in the category of Chinese buffet's in the Sacramento area, I would have to say that this one is A-OK. I have been here a couple of times over the past couple of years for red egg parties and church functions and I have not gotten sick once. There is one food sections I would stay away from though is the american section, french fries, pizza, chicken nuggets, are all sub par. I can usually go three rounds depending on how hungry I am and whether or not I have the will power to restrain myself. The first round starts with sushi, which they have a fair selection of rolls and sashimi, I did notice though that alot of the rolls had the imitation crab filling or the fried shrimp tempura in the middle. the Sashimi can be hit or miss depending on the day and the quality is ok. I also grab some dim sum (sui mai, haw gaw) pot stickers, sauteed mushrooms, and broccoli beef. The second round consists of first round favorites. Fried chicken (good flavor, moist inside), garlic green beans, bok choy, and sometimes a soup depending on the concensus of the table. I personally like the egg drop or seasonal winter soup, I had some bad experiences with the hot and sour soup and have always shyed away from that one. Third round is usually desert, strawberries, pinapple (sweet), vanilla/ chocolate soft serve in a cone. I hear the crab leg's, korean bbq, and mongolian bbq are good, but I don't like to wait for those dishes to be prepared and I don't like to work that hard to crack crab. *Service is decent. *Food is hit or miss depending on the time of day and occasion. *Variety is very good and to many to describe. Recommendation: Nice for large parties, decent food, cheap price, Stay away from the american section.

This is our go-to buffet spot. My boyfriend loves the clams and crab legs here and I like the sushi and the peking duck. The quantity here is great, but the service here can lack sometimes. They told my boyfriend that they don't serve alcohol, even though we can see the dispensers when we walk around the food area. Even on weekdays the food is consistently good. The price is okay at No#1 Buffet and we will keep coming back.

I finally convinced my mom that this place sucks! I never really liked this place. I been here a couple of times, that's only because my mom wants to eat here because of the "selections" they have and the cheap lunch price. The noodles have a weird yellow appearance, their chow fun has no meat or veggies it in, besides bean sprout, and their sushi selection sucks! Most of their sushi consisted of cucumber and imitation crab meat and there's hardly any avocado. I was about to bite into a piece of sushi when I poked into it w/ a chopstick and noticed that they only gave me a slither of avocado. What is this? an Avocado drought? Either that or they're stingy w/ their avocado. They're stingy with their shrimp too, a lot of their dumplings only had a tiny piece in it. Geeze, no wonder their buffet is so cheap. The food here is so inauthentic and basic and the water doesn't even taste good, too! Can you believe that? :p I rather have my lunch at the SuperWalmart nearby.

Okay Okay Only in Sacramento would I be going to a buffet and I'm proud of it. This large establishment located in South Sac was brought to my attention by a friend and I'll have to say, my second visit was made much happier by the amount of crab legs and shrimp I was able to consume. I'm not much of a fan of the buffets. Why? Because the quality of food is usually mediocre and honestly, how much Chinese style food could people take in one sitting? One word = A L O T The stations here are divided in 8 stations, each busy with different preparations of Chinese style, seafood, and dessert. The seafood station was stocked with crab legs, shrimp, oysters, clams, and salads. The dim sum bar had the typical types of mini appetizers ranging from egg custard bun, fried dumplings, har gow, egg flower soup. The three other stations were typical "Engrish" style concoctions, as one pointed out by my friend, "Seafood Cheese?" An elaborate take on imitation crab, tossed with some sort of cheese, packed onto a cockle shell and baked. Generic station of chow mein, Chinese broccoli, Brandy Fried Chicken (not good and savory, a disappointment), and sweet and sour pork. A Mongolian style noodle station where the chefs make your dish to order. The sushi counter, where amazingly, I had some decent nigiri rolls, something unexpected at a Chinese buffet. I'm happy to report that I've added more to the repertoire of consuming things I would never touch. I nibbled, on a dare, the chicken feet. The slightly firm jellied mass wrapped around the bones was a texture I'm not too inclined to, but the flavor was not bad: teriyaki style. I later used the claw of the foot to clean out the boiled shrimp, delivered fully veined and packed since Thanksgiving. I had three plates of crab legs. And even though these were long and narrow legs, once the crackers were delivered, I was in high heaven and spent most of the evening cracking away. The only drawback is that the job has a tendency to become quite messy and I took trips back and forth to the washroom to clean my hands. Inexpensive (one drawback is that they charge you for drinks, so soda is NOT free), good service in that the staff is on top of clearing the plates, and food stations up to par with safe food handling, I will always be up to coming back and sharing a large table with the family of good friends out here.

The place is actually quiet nice but in a kind of bad area. Everything was fine until you're about to leave. The person who charged my card gave me the receipt to sign but stayed and watched to see if i would leave a tip. When she saw i didnt leave one charged to my card, she asked me why i didnt leave one.. Im sorry but that was honestly so shocking to me because she didnt even serve me so why would she deserve a tip? I was already going to leave one but in cash and NO ONE should ever ask for a tip. That was just the worst thing that i ever had experience because she asked me personally about a tip..

So the first time I came here I only came with seven people and somehow the price of our bill was over a hundred?! I didn't come back for a long time because of that but I decided to give them a try again because I'm a sucker for buffets. Anyways the manager is super nice but the staff members aren't that nice. I speak vietnamese/ chinese and I could understand and hear what they're saying and they weren't exactly saying nice things. The food was okay I like how they serve crabs at a certain time. Sushi wasn't all that good, the ice cream sucks, and they barely have anything that is healthy like no fruits or little salad. I also remember that the last time I came I saw the cooks sleeping, ON THE JOB. That seemed so unprofessional. Also when I was leaving the waitress that gave me my bill was cursing because I didn't leave a tip. It's a freaking buffet! Who the hell gives tip at a buffet?

Went with three other people and we all had a good experience. Not the best Asian food I've had, but for a buffet, and with all the variety, it was worth the money. I couldn't eat a couple things (bad taste), but that goes with buffets. Some food items are better than others, yet with the amount of choices, no problem. Having lived in China for years, I can say some things are Americanized, but that's also okay, it's Sacramento. The staff was friendly and kept filling our water and sodas. It's quit a ways from where I live, but if I'm in the area, I'll likely drop in again. Okay, went again on a Sunday with family, when they had seafood. I must definitely alter my rating after that! The food was quite disgusting I kept a plate on the table just for food that was so awful I couldn't eat it. It was piled high! In most buffets you can always find a few good items but this time, the only thing that was even okay was the deserts. So maybe Sundays suck and other days are better. But my rating of the No 1 buffet has dropped after that experience.

I'm not a huge buffet fan... because I mostly think buffets don't give you very good quality food.... Anyway, I went up to Sacramento to visit family and this is where they wanted to eat. I think my extended family is super FOBish... so All You Can Eat is YAY for them, especially if there's seafood.. I was a bit hesitant because I wasn't hungry... and to eat a buffet when you're not the slightest hungry? Oh well, we went anyway (for lunch). The surprise to me was that there was a good variety of options. They had the Mongolian BBQ "bar" where you get to make your own fried noodles, I think they also had a noodle soup? Or soup portion? I didn't really look... They also had a sushi bar with someone (usually more than one) making sushi consistently. Their "dim sum" section didn't look that great... so I didn't try anything but the tripe... which was not bad... They had the fried shrimp, two types of steamed fish, standard fried rice, noodles, etc... They also had a nice dessert/fruit section... And apparently we know the people there... and they made special orders of sushi just for us... we also got special tea! Too bad for me.... I wasn't hungry.. could barely eat.. but I did what I could! I tried to eat at least my $10 worth--I think that's how much it cost per person!

Our huge family reserved one of the rooms here for a party for my cousin's new baby. But the place is huge. And their buffet isn't that bad. In addition to the typical Asian foods, they have a noodle bar for soup-y noodles and like the Mongolian BBQ stir-fried noodles, and also a whole lot of seafood including oysters, shrimp, crawfish, and crab legs. There's also an area with soups, dim sum, sushi and dessert. Nothing particular stood out for me but I did enjoy my made-on-the-spot soupy noodles. I think it's about $15 for dinner (I didn't have to pay though), which is a deal. Since we had a huge party, service was just ok. Sometimes it took a little time to clear away our finished plates. When it was time to go, they couldn't clean up faster and tried to get us to leave quickly.

Get your Crawdad, aka Crawfish, aka Mudbug fix here!!! They are getting harder to find with the Annual Isleton Crawdad Festival being moved up north. You can get em hot and tasty here at No. 1 Buffet. I once had 5 plate fulls of these buggers. No stomach ache at the end...so I guess I recommend it. That other crawfish place across the street was closed during lunch time. Thanks to that other place....I found these and now won't spend a dime at that other place =)

When this place first opened it was all the rage, standing room only with a long wait. Like most buffets NO 1 has declined in quality and service. We stopped eating here early this year as there was a huge decline in the quality of food. There really isnt a good chinese buffet that I can think of in all of Sacramento right now. Sad for us cheapo's who like a huge variety and as much as you can eat!

Coming from a humongous family that's also Polynesian, we always go to a place where everyone can get what they want. Especially, for parties or family reunions. I came here for my promotion/birthday party since they were on the same day. They have a variety of foods and flavors. Ranging from Mongolian BBQ to sushi then to frog legs. Savory and sweet varieties are so rich and bold in flavors. Even though it's an Asian buffet, they do serve American style foods. Such as, pizza, fries, etc. They have ice cream, pastries, and a fruit and salad bar. Keep in mind that they also have unlimited crab legs!

Tack on two or three zeros after the "1" in the name and that would more accurately describe this place. I usually trust my fellow Yelpers and won't set foot in any place less than 3 full stars, but I really didn't have a choice on this particular Sunday afternoon. It was a group decision of our party of 25 to dine here. Coming from a city with a buffet around every corner, I have definitely have had much better, and my expectations were tempered with this being an Asian buffet. The place was relatively clean that day with plenty of space to move around and for seating. And that's where the positives end. The service was atrocious. We needed to request for every refill and empty plates weren't removed until they were stacked at least five high. The pathetic part about it was the servers were less than 15 feet away from us sitting at a neighboring table conversing and rolling silverware. Here's your chance to make some big money on a large party, but I guess having a silverware rolling competition takes priority. The food was just as disappointing. The only thing I would think about recommending is any food that does not require any technique to make such as the peel and eat shrimp, crawfish, fruit, and green beans. Thumbs down for everything else. The sushi was just California rolls, orange and garlic chicken with under cooked breading and bland sauce, overcooked crab legs with tough meat, desserts straight from a box, and a self serve dry meat carving station. I think other reviews will help finish the painting the picture of this place and I can keep going on but I'll just stop there and start a search for a new buffet to take my family when I'm in town.

For the price and variety, this is great. A bit of Mongolian bbq, frog legs, all kinds of chicken and fish, and American and Asian foods. Every time I go I always get frog legs and their sugar buns. Desert isn't that great, but everything else is yummy.

This buffet restaurant had a variety of delicious looking foods. Looks could be deceiving. I've had the fried won tons with chicken and it was spoiled chicken. It was sour you could taste there was something wrong with it. So I tried another same thing. I had to throw it away. The spring rolls not very tasty. Food tasted like it needed more seasoning in everything. Employees seemed like they were upset or maybe it was their culture. Rough talking and very demanding! I guess people enjoy this type of Asian buffets but this was one that I'd probably not return to again anytime soon.

Price - quality is fine. Of course, nothing is perfect. I didn't like fruits at all.. no taste as if you eat paper... Sushi (rolls) dont taste and look like real ones, but not that bad... and for some reson all made with crab imitation meat... But you still can find something that you might like., because there is a lot to choose from.

I am at this moment in time basking in that warm glow of fullness that accompanies a large delicious meal. My family and I had a wonderful time dining at this facility. The food was well-prepared and tastefully seasoned and the staff was courteous, effective and cheerful. The crab and shrimp were plentiful, the fruit was fresh and the variety and quality of dishes was very impressive. My favorites were the mushroom chicken, the green beans and the hot and sour soup which had a pleasant sweet spiciness from the addition of sweet chili. My daughter enjoyed the fresh pineapple, the honey walnut shrimp (which was too doughy for me), and playing with the waitress. We had a great time, and when we were ready for dessert, she got an ice cream cone. They also have Korean and Mongolian style bbq and sushi. The bbq was tasty and the sushi area had many different types of rolls. They didn't keep a good selection of plain fish types of sushi, which may have been because the workers were working so hard to keep up with the sushi rolls which were very artfully prepared. It was really busy. We will definitely return.

Sigh... How should I start off? I came here once and had a bad experience. However, my grandpa insists on coming here whenever we go out to eat all the time because this is his favorite place. Are you kidding me grandpa? Who would eat at such a place? Only you grandpa... only you... Once you walk in, you are somewhat greeted and seated in this enormous restaurant. The place has a pretty nice decor for a restaurant in a ghetto area. It has a small fountain with Koi fishes and some chandelier here and there. Once they seat you they will ask what you want to drink besides water. After they bring you your drinks, they are to never be seen again unless you start throwing up some gang signs. You go on and grab a plate and enter the food area. Gather whatever you want to try. Sushi bar in the back, where requests for sushi can be made. Mongolian style noodles in the back as well. You grab whatever you like(meat, noodles, veggies, sauce) at the Mongolian section and hand it to the cook. He will cook it up for you in a big heated table top. This was actually pretty decent. They also have Salt and pepper crab, fried rice, chow mein, dim sum, chicken feet, egg rolls, BBQ duck, honey and walnut shrimp, crawfish, soup, fried fish, frog legs, and I don't know what else. I can only remember those because it scarred me for life! Everything tastes like crap. I MEAN EVERYTHING... well except the Mongolian noodles that I made. Everything is poor quality and it seems like no one gives a rat's ass about cooking the food. Food is cold and undercooked. Sushi tastes dull. I wouldn't be surprised if this place gets cited for health hazards. Other than that, it's horrible. This is probably the worst Chinese buffet I have had. Prices are decent. It costs about $10 for lunch and about $15 for dinner. Sure, it's an all-you-can-eat IF-YOU-CAN-EAT. Trust me, you don't want to eat here.... Save your money and head on over to the McDonald's next door. After eating at Number #1 buffet, you will experience the Number #2 afterwards. As a result, this scarred me for life. Grandpa, you disappoint me...

This place is so much better now!! I went here a week ago, and the food were great. Before this incident, the last time I went here was years ago. At the time, the food were hard and nasty; that was why we stopped going. BUT but, last week when I went during dinner, I wasn't even ready to leave. I took my sweet time chewing slowly and enjoying those delicious food. Now I know why it's always so crowded. First of all, it's the cheapest buffet around. About $14 for dinner per person, no other buffets can beat that. The crabs here are the best in the entire selection!!! My family and I were eating plates after plates after plates, etc. Whew can never get enough. Since the crabs were popular, they kept bringing out fresh ones, total plus. I would definitely come back, and recommend it to my friends! I subtracted one star because of the sushi. Sushi were much better than in past years, but as a sushi fan, I had higher expectations. However, knowing it's only a buffet, it's decent. Not bad!

I don't review buffets, but this one is worthy to talk about since I gave it two stars. Lets say this... No1. Buffet, You'll always be No. 100. Food is Meh. Service is Meh. The price, it attracts Us poor people. HEHE. I think a No. 1 buffet is Golden Corral or Mizus. LOL... Myabe NO.2.. who knows. ==== ^^^ that was from 2009. And guess what... it's still the same. It's NOT A BAD PLACE, no it's not. Sitting in the heart of Florin Rd & Stockton Blvd, it's a great place. Nothing entirely exciting to drive here for but it does what most buffet do for people: Keeps ya full at the end of your meal.

I'm not a buffet person. I like to eat slow and healthy. On the hand, my family from out of town requested the Chinese buffet. I say this is an average Chinese buffet. The food is fresher if you go in early. I've been here a few times but the most annoying thing is that the waitresses constantly monitoring you like standing there watching you and pushing to leave after you ate your first plate.

Really good choices and our servers were very attentive. And! It is a reasonable price for so much variety good food.

We went here on a recommendation and I have to say - it is pretty hit or miss. I liked how big and clean it was, and our waiter was super friendly and attentive. About half of my first plate was left uneaten, anything chicken was dried up and/or overcooked. I did the Mongolian noodle part, and everything is unlabeled! I guessed at which was the beef, and it ended up tasting like old meat, so I picked it out. The rest was good, I enjoyed the fruits, veggies and desserts. Nothing was hot except the noodles. I would go back, just to see if I can select better things. It was clean, and we survived the night with no tummy issues!

I went to church in Midtown today, so I thought I'd have lunch in the South side. In my quest for good, authentic Chinese food, I think this is closest (coming from a guy who grew up around San Francisco - Oakland) I can find in Sacramento. If you don't mind going to the 'hood, (there's a crazy lady pacing the street now as I'm writing this) Number One is decent food. Their selection is vast, so I admit I didn't try everything. But everything is made well, even the frog legs (which btw were tender, not rubbery). There is so much food, I only took samples of what I wanted. Good prices on a Sunday afternoon. I arrived about 11:30am, so I kinda beat the lunch crowd, but it got busy, fast. They must also cater, because I saw them bring out trays of food to someone's awaiting minivan. I may have to come out here again for good, tasty Chinese food. Just a thought: Chinese don't make good sushi. I didn't even try the Korean and Mongolian barbecue, there's so much food!

If missing the mark was the secret achievement in the game of life. Oh they've accomplished this achievement in spades. This food is lack-luster. The sushi is made up of low grade miscellaneous fish. The food is overcooked, over-crispy, and seemingly devoid of redeeming value. I would compare this to when your child cooks you breakfast in bed and comes in the room with that sheepish grin, "here are your pancakes dad", then you realize the house doesn't even remotely have the ingredients necessary to pull this off and you worry. Here's the difference. That was an example for the thought counting and your kids just trying to show you love, albeit misguided. In this situation, however there is no love. Just culinary terror masked by ponds of over-sized Koi in the lobby that are wondering if they're on the menu next week. So, you find yourself in this place, due largely in part to no fault of your own, what do you do? Rest assured that I'm going to help you through this, ready? Okay here goes, Go to the Hibachi section and have them cook the spare ribs for you. This is actually a section where this place truly shines. They have a wide variety of ingredients in the Hibachi section, just remember your dollars to tip the cook that is going to save your culinary evening. Secondly, bypass the salt and pepper crab section. You will find that the salt and pepper crab is more struggle than its worth. The meat payoffs vs effort are on the highly skimpy side. You have a higher chance of hitting the lotto then getting full off their salt and pepper crab. Did they only buy the crab children? It is like seeing the Crab casting call for the Deadliest Catch and this place got all the crabs that didn't make the it onto the show..... Instead, go to the Cold King Crab section and fill up on that. You will need to request crackers from the kitchen staff or waiter/ess. If you follow this recipe you will avoid finishing number 10 at number 1.

Went here for dinner and the food was terrible. Most of the things we ate tasted like food from the night before and is long over due. The sushi bar smelled like poop. Almost everything was dried and nothing tasted right. Will never go here ever again.

Excellent buffet. In fact it stands up to its name. They have all kinds of ethnic dishes. Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, American, Creole. Biggest selection of all the asian buffets. I am surprised that it has 3 stars. That's probably because people pay $10 but expect a $100 a person restaurant.

Went to this place as my daughter and I were hungry and Asian food sounded great. What a disappointment overall. The food selection was large but I believe that's to make up for the poor quality, if they have enough of it you will get full on something mentality. The cold crab was good and the dim sum was pleasant. The sushi looked as though it had been sitting for some time and unless you enjoy food poisoning I don't recommend trying it. The chow mein was undercooked and the walnut shrimp was devoid of walnuts, flavor and mushy. The waiter we had was very pleasant and always had our drinks filled and our table cleaned off of dishes. Bottom line - not worth my time, money or palette.

to be fairy to the restaurant, it is hard to find a restaurant with sushi, BBQ, dimsum, Chinese food all together with in 10 dollar. A common sentence that i learn," you pay for what u get." i just don't except too much within 10 dollar, but turn out pretty good.

I'm giving this place a 2 because they have a lot of selection. The food is decent. The station where you build your own soup thingy is MONEY! That is probably the only thing I like about this place. What i REALLY don't like is that they give you the tab. You put your credit card down. They charge your card and give you your receipt. This is the time you would normally contemplate if you wish to tip or not. It's a buffet. The most they should do is fill your water. Sometimes they don't even do that! You had one job! well that and take empty plates away. okay two jobs. but still! And you wonder if you should even tip. They don't even give you a chance to NOT tip. They hover around you after you get your tab back. They will watch you with your pen as you sign the bottom. One time we split the tab between my friends and told them to charge half the check on two cards. We were going to tip on one card only. My boyfriend put a strike through the tip line of his receipt. The waitress had the nerve to pick up the receipt hold it up to him and say you forgot to tip. WHAT?! Here's a tip for you all: Pay in cash so they don't hover over you as you sign your credit card receipt and demand a tip.

I think they just opened this past weekend. Went to eat here on a Monday at 2pm with a family of 5. It's $7.95 per person for lunch plus $1.09 per soda drink. Hot tea is included upon request. When we first walked in we were so overwhelmed! The place was HUGE and there were at least 6 long, food tables, plus a sushi, noodle soup, BBQ and Mongolian BBQ sections. Most of the food we tried were delicious. Things we didn't like were the chicken feet, bbq chicken (had way too much black pepper), peking spareribs (not tender), and hot and sour soup. But the food that were good definitely out weighed the bad. They had: Dimsum (VERY GOOD, my fav actually) Salad Bar Dessert Bar Cradad (Crayfish) Fish Salt and Pepper Shrimp Clams The list does go on.... definitely worth a visit! Forget China Buffet next to SF Market. Can't wait to go back for dinner!

Thursday 8:00. The Mongolian barbecue selection could have been better. More choices in the vegetable and the sauces. Some of the food had been sitting out on the buffet too long. You have to plan on the amount you put out at a time to maintain freshness. More work which is why lazy places just throw out a huge pan and let it sit for an hour. Service was great my server was very nice and sweet. Price was too high. $16 is too much. $12 is more reasonable. The buffet mostly caters to seafood which I don't care for. But there are no other good Chinese buffets around. I am from the Midwest and their Chines Buffets are so much better than the ones here in sacramento. I eat here because I can't find a better Chinese buffet. I am looking.

I recommend coming on Fri-Sun during dinner hours. They usually have more food because it's their busier days. The crabs are bigger and the food comes out periodically faster than other days. Which means that it will be fresher and hotter. I give it a 4 because it's better than most buffets. I like buffets in SF better. They have more seafood items that I like

Looking for sushi? Look Else where. Looking for chinese food? Look Else where Looking for a decent salad? I don't know how they can screw that up. SUSHI Dry and has a akward smell to it. The shashimi you can tell its not fresh you can tell by the color of the fish the dry-ness of it. The chinese food here is awful unless you see the lady changing it to a fresher one, but other than that i don't recommend you eatting it, they can leave it out for 8 hours or more. Salad bar.. just don't even touch it...the sauce they have taste like its expired. Sour taste really nasty. They violated alot of safety health food codes. So many i lost count. If someone reported to Food Safety Inspection of CA im sure they would shut down for a few weeks. For example we had someone cook something at the grill bar he used the same knife to cut the raw/cooked meat. I am sorry to say buy they have too much confident in their name. Review via Blackberry

I've been here many many times and i must say, I love the fact that they have great selection! my boyfriend and I can eat whatever we want without one another dsagreeing which place to go. food taste is different each time we visit; some days its really satisfying..other days, its blanddd, and there's days where its ok.

This place sucks. Yes they have quite the selection for food, but majority of the food is cold. Out of the 20+ selections they have I like the potato wedges. I'll give them 2 stars because they have a nice big bathroom.

We decided to try this Chinese Buffet on the basis that the parking lot was always full. As expected, there was a long waiting period to get a table. After ~ 20 minutes we were seated way in the back part of the restaurant. This made it a little difficult for us to maneuver past other diners packed tightly around us. When we finally got to the buffet area, there was an impressive variety of dishes to choose from. However I noticed some of the options were way too squeamish for my taste! (Such as chicken feet, fish heads, octopus, etc). Anyway, I piled my plate with the most recognizable of foods. Disappointment started at the first bite. The food tasted either bland, salty, stringy, chewy, or greasy! I ended up going for the fruit and eating some of the desserts instead. The atmosphere was too hectic and noisy even for a crowded Buffet. Remember your high school cafeteria? Kind of like that! The only thing that gave this place an extra star was that they had cute Koi fish in their fish pond at the entrance!

(PARTY OF 6) It's like a typical asian buffet. You got a noodle Pho section, dessert section, sushi and etc etc. ENVIRONMENT At the time I went in, it was very messy. I think it was because it was near the holidays and it was packed with people. I won't knock a star down for this reason cause it was a holiday season and there were a lot of people. SERVICE I didnt really interact with the workers there. Just seating us and getting our drinks. No comment on this one. FOOD I don't feel that the food is like OUTSTANDING. I would say I like this place better than Hometown Buffet only because of personal preference. I like a lot of seafood and this place has it. I am also not a big fan of buffets because the intent of eating is a lot different. At buffets I cant control myself because I want to taste everything I can see. Then you forget what youve enjoyed after your meal because youve stuffed yourself and feel blah at the end. The food is good. You know it varies cause it is a buffet. I dont know what else to comment for this place. It is a good place to go with family if you have no agreement to having a normal sit down dinner. There is always something for everyone at a buffet. Not bad at all. It was just A-OK.

First time I came here, I was a little skeptical to go to a place as fobby as calling their restaurant "No. #1 Buffet".. seriously, number twice? Then walking around & seeing their signs on the food saying "Children must be accomplished by an adult".. is this a joke? But I was pleasantly surprised, maybe cause I'm white & don't usually eat authentic Chinese food. Thankfully my boyfriend is Asian and showed me all the good stuff. Jalapeno Chicken for the win!! They have a BBQ spot, sushi if you like that raw stuff, a place to get noodles/pho, Mongolian BBQ, pizza, fruits, desserts, etc. How can you complain? The buffet is pretty well priced too, I doubt it's more than $15 for dinner. I have heard some horror stories about the service, though I personally haven't witnessed it. Like making people pay during their meal cause they were eating so much & trying to force people out for staying a lot time. Whatever though, I hate going to the south, but I'm always down for the trip if my boyfriend tells me we are going to "NUMBER NUMBER 1 BUFFET" !!

Don't get the hate for this place. - It's easy to find. - It has tons of parking. - You can eat sushi, udon, ika salad, chow mein, a tremendous variety of fresh fruit, assorted cute cakes, grilled meat on a stick, quail eggs and dim sum. - You get fortune cookies with the bill. There's not a lot of charm to the place, but it's not scuzzy either. It's BIG, bright and you'll definitely find something you like. I was a bit worried about all the seafood just sitting (for who knows how long) out in the buffet, but I ate pretty much everything and not a drop of food poisoning, so I'm willing to roll with it.

Their food is pretty ubiquitous; many of the Asian food buffets in this area have the same staples so I'm thinking they get supplied from the same place. The Tahiti Chinese Buffet over off Florin near 99 is almost identical. I can say that this place is cheap and a good place to eat your fill if you're on a budget and not overly concerned with the quality of food over the quantity; the food isn't "bad" just not "great". And with the name on their marquis being in incorrect English (it says "No. #1 Buffet) they are one of the few places in Sacramento NOT guilty of false advertising - they certainly are No Number One!

the price $15 for dinner. But what do you get GO early. 4pm the Sushi is the best, not that fake roll stuff they have the real Japanese Sushi stuff here (well and rolls) but they rice ball with the piece of sashimi is awesome. They hey crabs of leg, clams, fish, soups, dim sum, won ton, egg rolls, pizza, they have a grill too which i have not tried out. Peking Duck always. I love the little deserts they have. There is a jello looking desert, you gotta have it. Its pink it's not as jello-e as you might think, it just looks that way. Eat til your hearts desire. Unlike some chinese foods, this doesn't make me sick after. I feel full til the day ends at this place. IT's by the old Florin mall, so it's kinda iffy for the area. But since you're around many asian communities the food here is real!

I was wondering why the average for this place was so low and there seems to be a mix of 4-5 stars and 1-2 stars, so I guess it's really a hit or miss? I've only been here once and I can honestly say it was a good experience. First of all, lunch was $8.45 and that, to me, is VERY cheap for a good buffet. The food was good- mix of seafood, vegetables, and meat. My first impression was that everything seemed very fresh, clean, and not lathered under oil. Sure, there was some oily entrees (it is Americanized Chinese food after all). There's also a Korean BBQ area where they grill the meat you select right in front of you, a noodle stand with choices of vermicelli, pho, udon, and etc, and of course the stir fry section. I liked how there was always a person at the stands so you actually get your food cooked when you want it rather than having to spend 5 minutes just waiting to catch a cook's attention. A couple of areas they could work on is their fruit selection and their sushi. None of the fruits I had seemed very appealing to the eye and they were definitely not sweet! The sushi was just OKAY... I've had better at other buffets though. Anyway, if you're in the mood for Asian buffet, I do recommend you give this place a shot. For the price, you can't really go wrong but like I said, the food is actually pretty good.

I had high hopes for this place too. It wasn't a disappointment either, but China Buffet off of Sunrise blvd set the standard pretty high for me. Even the China Buffet off of Broadway had better tasting food than this place. It was very pricey too. $13.99 plus more than $1extra for a soft drink. After the waiter brought the bill to us, he stood around staring at us as if he was expecting a tip (I still didn't give a tip though). The china buffet on Sunrise costs $11.99 and includes drinks. But that may be Mon-Fri. They had Salt&Pepper crab which looked tasty but inside the crab was green in many parts after I cracked it open so I did not bother. Salt & Pepper shrimp was good and so was the honey-walnut shrimp. The fruit selection was amazing. And here's the best part, they had peeled n' sliced mangoes just ready to go. That itself deserves an extra star!!! I don't think I'll be going back here if I had a choice. I'll probably go to the China Buffet on broadway instead.

My friends and I drove here for a "cheap" buffet dinner one night, and it was a complete disappointment. I heard that the price was pretty cheap.. which it was for dinner, but for the quality of food it was not worth it. Honestly, buffets usually have some good food and some bad food, but in my honest opinion.. I did not enjoy any of the food here; it was simply, average. On top of everything else, the waiter gives us our check about an hour before they close which was fine since we seemed like we were done eating regardless. However, the waitress, I believe her name was, Amy, comes over and literally monitors us get our money together which several attempts at trying to take the money from us and counting it all herself. It was very rude of her to do it. I was trying to get the money from the rest of my friends and putting it together for her like I would do at any other restaurant, but never have I experience such rude and horrible customer service where they would stand and watch you like a hawk as you paid. They then always demanded more tip which was reasonable, but damn, how about getting some lessons on "customer service" before coming over here and demanding some more tip when you obviously did not display any sort of "good" or at least average customer service. If you're looking for a cheap buffet place to go eat and get full, then come here, but if you're looking for good food then find another place.

I was very disappointed the last time I was here. When we got in we were taken to the back room and seated at that last table in the corner (note: there was only 4 of us). I have no idea why they chose this table, since we did pass so many vacant tables. :/ I said to him, "we're sooo far out." He replied, "its better here." Then his coworker said something in chinese, and he yelled back out to him and seated us. When they left, one of my friends, who is also chinese told us about their convo. The coworker had said, "move them closer to the buffet." And the guy who seated us replied, "they're young. They can walk." I found that very rude. Besides that, the food was so plain. I know its a buffet, not everything will taste great, but it didn't even taste good! The workers in the back that will make you food after you choose what you want to cook had no customer service either. They don't even understand you half the time. I'm never going to return here again.

2.5 Stars. They are not quite A-OK. The Good- They are cheap. $8.45 w/o soda. It's $9 before tip. Their steamed whole fish is good. I like their pork "siu mai" dim sum. It is hand made with coarse ground fatty pork. Juicy and full flavored. Their steamed pork riblets are very good. Fatty,Juicy, and flavorful. Gai Lan ( chinese greens) are still green and crunchy, not overcooked. The Bad- They used to be better overall. Their Broccoli Beef is hit or miss.(sometimes mushy and too much sauce) Their fried in shell shrimp kind of got alittle mushy. They should make their food in smaller batches and monitor them more closely. I think that is their basic quality control problem. They bring out the fresh food in HEAPING large trays. The food is best when it first comes out. They don't make a new batch until the current tray is close to empty. The cycle between batches is too long. The food gets mushy. I eat at No #1 as a change in pace from Hometown. Hometown has different food each day. I think No #1 is the same food every day. It makes me want to come here only every other month for lunch. Dinner is alittle pricey. Just do lunch on saturday. I do not think they have a weekend surcharge for lunch.

This is a alright buffet to eat at if your close to it an not want to travel far. I wont recommend this place to alot of people. They use alot of msg in the trays, its not a good thing for me to put in my body. The taste is ok, but not all that good. For me, its all about the taste. Food might look good but the taste is just to much msg. I travel to Broadway No1 Buffet, less msg, more flavor an taste like what its suppose to be.

This place has definitely degraded in quality over the past couple of years. My family has been coming here for the past few Christmases, and this year the buffet was pretty poor. The sushi is made hastily and is not well formed; there was no salmon to be seen in any of the rolls, nor on nigiri or as sashimi. The dim sum was mushy and there wasn't much in the way of good vegetables or fish. I'm really hoping that next year we find a different places for lunch.

I haven't been to this buffet for approximately two years, and it has changed or maybe I was not aware of it, but it's not good changes, I can say that much! It was two days ago my partner and I went there for our meals, we got there around 3:10pm and we were told they will be putting out dinner items (more seafood dishes) soon, so we can choose to pay the lunch price or dinner by the waitress (her name was WENDY). Before we could answer her, she automatically answered for us by saying that she'll write us down for lunch price since we will ONLY be there for 30 minutes. In my head, I was like "rude! how did you know we will only be here for 30 minutes?!". Right off the back, we had a rude-ass waitress (WENDY), but I was able to let that go. Through out our meal, she literally pass by our table a thousand times and she only refilled my partner's water glass once and never mine. On top of having poor services, the food was just unappetizing. It was salty, oily, and the fruits were unriped...honestly, the resturant has degraded since they opened. I was getting upset by the time we were done with our meals, but I was going to cut it some slack since our meal came out to be approximately $18.50 (plus tax) and intended to give tips. Before my partner was done eating the last bit of his unriped fruits, WENDY came up to our table and asked us to pay. Now, I'm getting really upset! When she came back with our receipt so I could sign it, she literaly waited at our table. I signed the receipt and we got up to leave, this is when she really pissed me off! My partner planned to exchange a large bill for smaller ones so we could tip her poor service, but NO, right after we stood up, she asked for tip! I was just amazed at how rude and unshameful she was to ask for tip! That's when I drew the line, and told her, "we can't" and walked out of that resturant. Seriously, there is no manners and professionalism in this resturant! The women's restroom was messy, dirty, water puddles on the counters...sigh...I did NOT like it. I told my family about this, and apparently, they and others have exprienced the same thing with the waiters/waitresses and the food have became shits. I can promised this, I will not be back ever again! FYI: we were there for approximately an hour. Becareful you might get food poison because my partner did. Shitty service, shitty food, shitty waitress, it made me one angry Domo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As most buffets are structured, they are more focused on quantity rather than quality. So I can't complain when I say that most of the seafood's not fresh (especially the Crawfish). But I will say that the variety could be better. There's about 1 island for each "ethnicity" of food, 1 for Chinese, 1 for Japanese, 1 for dim sum, a bar for noodles, a bar for grilled meats, and an island for desserts... which limits the number of dishes each island can hold. I'm a huge fan of Salt and Pepper Shrimp with Jalapenos (as I always am). But other than that 1 dish, nothing stood out to me. The Sashimi was too slimy for my liking, the dim sum selection was limited, and the dessert island had mostly fruit. It's decent for a buffet... but only A-Okay.

Wish i could give this buffet a 0/5. The food here is HORRIBLE!!!!! I went yesterday for lunch with my friend, it was my first time going, and it was the worst buffet food i have ever had in my life. The only reason i can see people going here is because of the price, it's cheap for a lunch buffet. If you want to eat better food try finding a Hometown Buffet or Golden Corral, their food is far better.

I don't do many buffets these days, and for good reason. I'm getting fat off of unsatisfying food! However, this past weekend was a family affair and therefore I had to attend. All of the chinese food was gross and overly salted. I took one look at the sushi bar and passed on by. I looked at the desserts and passed as well. The fruits were old and bland. The frozen yogurt was full of ice so I threw it in the trash. Nothing was memorable, except maybe the fresh prawn skewers that they grill in front of you were alright. Would never come back unless it was my vote against 12 others again...

The hubby and I were starving and didnt know the area so we stopped here. Price was decent. They had a variety of foods loved the cold spicy squid, the warm crab and shrimp! Everything I ate was fresh including the broccoli. Yummy definitely coming back.

4.0- A lot of selections from Dim Sum, Sushi, Soups,Assorted Hot dishes, Seafood, Crawfish, Noodles and many many more! It's pretty packed when I went, so in mind I know it's a pretty good place to eat and I was right, it was pretty good especially for all you can eat! The only thing that stop it from getting a higher rating is I think they need more staff or something so they can actually stock up the dishes faster! Overall the food was tasty and I like their varieties of selection and sauces too. But for sushi, sashi, raw oysters: Fuji's is still the top on my list!!

Came here tonight because I wanted unlimited sashimi. Come on, it's a buffet; I should be able to get numerous pieces of fish, right? NOT! Tuna, salmon, and yellowtail were my choices. There were probably ten pieces of each type in their respective plates. Being a sashimi enthusiast, I got five pieces of each, only for the two lazy workers to give me the dirty look. Assuming I don't understand Chinese, one says to the other, "I can't believe she's getting so much of it!" and the other says, "I know." Alright guys, you do know this is a buffet, right? I walk around, get some more food, and sit down to chat with my friend while eating. Half an hour later, I return for some more sashimi. The three plates are empty, sushi plates are almost empty, and the two sushi chefs are sitting there chatting. It must have been a deep conversation because they did not stop for the next half an hour. Alright, so let's try some sushi. As I'm nearing the sushi counter, one of them spots me and stares me down. The other sees me and now I have four piercing eyes staring at me saying, "Girl, get some sushi and you won't make it out alive." Whoa whoa, guys. Take it easy. I just want a piece of sushi. I won't take your whole plate so you end up working again. God forbid!

I can't say whether or not this place is the bomb. It's a buffet. My expectations are a little lower. Food is always hit and miss here. I've heard a lot of rumors, but I haven't experienced it so I'm not going to attempt to give them a bad rating because of what I hear. I'm pretty solid on my reviews. Of all the buffet out there, this one is still a 3-4 depending on how the food is that day. Don't get me wrong, it should be BETTER.

I'll be honest. I have very little expectations when it comes to dining at any Asian buffet. They were really the rage in the '80's, but between now and then, a lot of them have opened, offering everything a wide variety and quantity of Asian food choices. Unfortunately, the large quality comes with the sacrifice of quality. Quality is from "meh" to OK. After we settled into rooms from our Friday afternoon drive up from the Bay Area, we met Michael A.'s in-laws here for dinner. As with many Asian buffets, this place was huge. Three large dining areas, and a separate area for the buffet. The usual suspects at this buffet: -Sushi/Sashimi: 3 guys making nigiri sushi, rolls, sashimi, inari......Didn't expect the fish to be super fresh, but was OK -Dim Sum section: Siu mai, har gow, pork buns, prepared Peking duck in rolls (bleech! Too dry), custard tarts, chicken feet. Didn't have any, looks like a lot of stuff here hasn't been moving that much. They also had hot and sour soup and egg drop seafood soup. -Hot foods: Two sections, variety of noodle, rice, vegetable, beef, pork, and seafood dishes, as well as fried stuff. -Mongolian BBQ: Choose your ingredients, sauces, marinades, give it to the guy behind the BBQ, and he'll slop it on the grill for you. -Korean BBQ: beef short ribs, marinated chicken marinated beef, squid, and skewered shrimp. Fill a plate with the raw meat/fish, give to one of the guys behind the counter, and he'll grill them for you. I liked short ribs the best out of the whole buffet. -Salads and Fruit: Didn't have any salads, but ate the fruit. This section also had chilled crab legs (King crab), and chilled shrimp, and mussels. -Dessert: Soft cream machine, jello, pudding, variety of sponge cakes, cream puffs (ran out by the time I was ready). Nothing spectacular, but will satisfy a sweet tooth. In the seafood section, had a stir-fried lobster. Very popular, and runs out quickly. As soon as a new tray comes in from the kitchen, a crowd forms and converges towards the lobster. People will grab ladles from other trays to get some choice pieces of lobster. So many ladles digging into the tray, made me wonder if people brought in their own from home. This is not for the meek and timid. I could hear the clacking of ladles hitting the sides of the tray, or other ladles. Reminds me of a shark frenzy. Overall, it was OK. So much food, it was a blur, and I can't remember anything that really stood out, and I rolled out of the restaurant. The price is pretty good for dinner $10.50 a person. Places like these are great for large groups. Good dining company with Michael A., his family, and his in-laws.

I just noticed that I rarely give out 2 and 1 stars, but this place absolutely deserves only 2 stars. I've been here twice with my family and both times I was not too impressed. The only good thing they have going for them is that it's pretty cheap and you get a lot of selection. No. 1 Buffet has a misleading name cause I wouldn't ever consider it anywhere near #1. Everything inside the restaurant is mediocre to look-but-not-touch quality. The Mongolian BBQ takes a while and doesn't even compare to fast food Mongolian BBQ places. The sushi.. let's just not go there. The chinese food is pretty standard fast food chinese food-like but not as good as Panda Express. The place overall is pretty large and clean, so they got that going for them. Would I come back here for food? If everything else was closed and I had no food at home, I may consider it. If you come here though, don't expect to be impressed with anything, at least your Wallet might thank you though.

The only reason I'm giving this place one star is because negative numbers aren't an option. Everything we ate was horrible. The food has a texture and smell that made me want to gag. If I could throw up everything I ate as I ate it then I would have. Do not eat here!

  • Matthew S.

This place is clean, but it's probably the only thing that sets it apart from the other buffets. The selections are pretty much the same in other buffets, but the sushi is pretty good here.

I would say as far as Chinese buffets go, No. 1 Buffet is up there. This place actually makes some authentic Chinese food, dumbed down to buffet standards or course, but still good none-the-less. They have a Mongolian BBQ station with semi-decent picks for add-ins. They have a sushi section with an average selection of sushi. While there are sushi chefs there making the sushi fresh, I'm not sure if they take custom requests, though I've never asked. This place actually has a lot of staff so you will never expect lagging service. As far as Chinese buffets go, this place would be my first recommendation.

This place is gross and will never ever comeback or recommend it to anybody. My brother, mother, sister in law and cousins went here and guess what? The next day, they all had norovirus! Contagious illness that is from food handling! NEVER AGAIN!!!

  • Tomas M.

To be fair, the food isn't bad. But if you enjoy a place that when you pay the bill, they ask if you are leaving a tip or not. I was paying the bill on my debt card, which was for myself and a friend. My friend had told me that he was just going to pay the tip with some cash. Knowing this, when I received the slip to sign for the total amount and for my signature, I left the tip part at 0.00 since my friend was paying the tip. When the waiter came to pick up the slip, he had immediately seen that the tip was at zero and asked me if I had any cash. Caught off guard slightly, I asked him "cash?" He replied, "yes, you have cash?" I asked him "for the tip?" He then said "yeah!" Now I don't expect the greatest service when I go to a Chinese restaurant, but this experience was unbelievable! For someone to ask for a tip, let alone at a buffet, where all he did was fill up my drink, (which he did a sorry job at too). I will never eat at this establishment again, and quite frankly, they should be embarrassed.

Let me start off by saying this: I hate Chinese buffets. I find them all to be gross, except this place. I liked it a lot. To be fair to other Chinese buffets I did not eat food from the standard bars, I only got food from the grill, stir fryer and Dim Sum bar. The grill and fryer is made to order and is extremely fresh. Both times I went the cooks of these sections did an excellent job. The grill has marinated meats and corn on weekdays at lunch. Pork, chicken and beef. It's a little difficult to find pork cuts that aren't mostly bone, but when I could it was great! Apparently on weekends and weeknights they have skewered shrimp and sometimes crab at the grill. The stir fryer bar is basically Mongolian BBQ style cooking, but better. The problem with most Mongolian BBQ restaurants is they dump water on your food to help it cook faster so they can get to the next customer sooner. This makes the food bland. The fryer at this restaurant doesn't do that and since they don't use a round fryer one cook can do 3-4 plates at a time so you're not waiting forever for your order. The Dim Sum bar was surprisingly good. Half of the food I tried from it was good. The other half was just okay. I have not tried anything outside of the bars that I mentioned, so I'm not surprised to see such negative reviews of all the "standard" dishes being poorly made. The service was great both times. Quick to be seated, quick to get drink orders and refills, and quick to remove empty dishes from the table. If you come here hit up the grill and the stir fryer bars.

My family and I LOVE LOVE LOVE to eat at buffets, but then again, who the hell doesn't? When I came home to Sacramento today to visit my parents, they told my brother and I that we're all going to eat at this "really great buffet" that they discovered several weeks ago. When they told me that it was the "No. 1 Buffet" off of Stockton Blvd, I suddenly began to remember when most of my friends, who've been here before, told me how horrible it was. Thus, I began to get a little worried. However, my parents said they thought it was really good, so I didn't bother to convince them to check out The Boiling Crab that was literally across the street from the restaurant. We get to the restaurant and are welcomed by the warming atmosphere of the host, waiters and antique-looking furniture surrounding the foyer and around the dining room. The restaurant didn't seem very crowded, and there were a lot of empty tables. I was assuming that since it was only 5:30pm, we were there pretty early for dinner OR word spread about the mediocrity of the food. The host sits us, the waiter immediately gives us our drinks, and then we get our food. For my first plate, I got fried rice, orange chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. For my second plate, I got a small variety of sushi. For my third plate, I got for dessert: a chocolate chip cookie, a sprinkled brownie, lemon pound cake with caramelized-coconut shreds, and a couple of pastries that I forgot the names of... The food was completely mediocre. Even my brother didn't think the food was suitable for a so-called "No. 1 Buffet." The fried rice tasted like Top Ramen... like they just took the chicken-flavoured Top Ramen-seasoning packets and used it for their fried rice. The orange chicken tasted completely like oranges since I could barely taste the chicken, which was also dry... And the honey walnut shrimp just tasted like whip cream. YACK! The sushi was a little stale and bland, which I expected of all sushi served at buffets. The dessert, however, was a little better than my entrees. The chocolate chip cookie tasted fine, though a little stale in some parts (wtf...). The sprinkled brownie tasted bland and hard like cardboard. The lemon pound cake... I didn't even bother touching since at that point I nearly got fed up with the food... But the pastries that I got were actually the best (and the only edible thing I tried at this restaurant). I forgot what one of them were called, but it was frosted, flaky and shaped like a heart (there's a proper name for them but I forget what they're called). The other one was also flaky but it was powdered with chocolate stripes and had a puffy shape. I'm guessing they got these pre-made and delivered to them because they were very flavorful and enjoyable to eat. I wanted more but I was already full from the previous plates. If I end up coming back here again, I'll probably try out their Korean BBQ section and just settle with the pastries again. There were other buffets in town that had much better quality entrees than this restaurant had, so I'll convince my parents to go to different buffets next time. Sorry "No. 1 Buffet" but you did not live up to your name...

LOVE, LOVE this buffet. My little family & I will go there once in awhile because it does get pricey for dinner BUT overall we love the food its fresh & hella GOOD! The only bad experience we had one time was when we went for dinner they told us to pick a table there was 7 of us & we did we picked a table & they asked us to move to a different table & we did. It was cool... then they came back & asked us to move to another table so I told them NO because we were already eating that this table. That was annoying to me. Still love the food though. ;)

I was so dissappointed and angry last night. This is coming from after taking two midterms at Davis and lack of sleep, I wanted to go to a place and just eat my face off. So I drive from Davis to here super excited and SUPER hungry. But after my first plate, I had to THINK before I put anything in my mouth. I always judge these buffets by the quality of their sushi. OH god, it was beyond disgusting. Sushi was overcooked and not seasoned, the mayo-crab tasted weird, and the fish was slimey on top :( THEN when it gets to the shashimi.........every piece of salmon, had BONES in it. Nearly caught me in surprise and gagging for the rest of the night. Their fried stuff was decent, but hey, if I had a giant deep fryer, I'd be better doint it on my own. I saw the "walnut shrimp" and it was like a pile of heavenly fried shrimp then they plopped some off-white coagulated sauce that looked chunky. I wouldn't come back here again. Even for that price, I'd rather be eating TWO vietnamese sandwiches from Huong Lan across the street.

don't know how people give this 5 stars. The one time I went soon after it was opened the food was absolutely horrible...totally tasteless. Everything! I kept trying different dishes...I kept thinking something here must taste good.......HAH....Nothing had any flavor! I was actually astonished. This place sticks out in my mind everytime I drive by as the worst place I have ever eaten. You know that imitation plastic food you sometimes see in Asian places? you might as well eat that!

Our team decided to go for a lunch as a team event. Someone suggested #1 buffet. Buffet is always a good choice for many people with different diets. On the way to the restaurant, people started saying this place is only 2.5 star in yelp. Maybe it's not a good place to go. After some discussion we decided to check on the place first before we actually sat down and ate. When we arrived, there are some many cars parked outside. We thought that might be a good sign since so many people ate here. After we looked around, they did have a good variety of food and very spacious. Ok. Let's ate here then. Here comes the review: 1. Food: Highlight: clawfish: I don't see that in any other buffet store except this one. My team member eat quiet a few of them. White mushroom sweet soup with red dates: this is a typical chinese soup, chinese ladies love it. I heard it's good for skin? Fresh made stir fry food and grill. Variety: They do have a good variety of food. steam fish, oyster, different chicken(orange, spicy, and so on), pork, dim sum, beef, chow mien, fried rice, dim sum, sushi, fruit, sweets, ice cream. (4 star) Taste: What can you expect the taste from a buffet? Some are too salty for me. but most of my team members are ok with that. (2 star) 2. Service: service seemed ok for me. I didn't eat too much sushi, so I didn't notice if they refill it quick or slow. Two cooks are serving stir fried food and grill. The other dishes were refilled fast enough.(3 star) 3. Environment: very spacious. However, there's a smell in the air. i can't tell what it is...(give 2 star) 3. Price: 9.19 including tax as of 4/20/11. I think it's a competitive price.(3 star)

Near 99 Ranch Market, Walmart, and other department stores. My family wanted to try this place (we're an avid buffet eating family). They have a huge parking lot! When you first walk in, they have a koi pond, then tables and food, and another room for bigger parties. They have ice cream, dim sum, lots of vegetables, soups, bbq pork, sushi, and customized noodle/rice plates. It was around $15/person not including tips and tax. It wasn't bad, I would come here.

This place is good depending on the day. Most of the time I come, the food is average. But hey, can't complain when it's only $8. You get what you pay for. I prefer to go to dinner here than lunch. The dinner is much better, especially the seafood. Sometimes the cookies get hard. The waitress also rushes you out from time to time. Before you finish, they'll put a check on your table. It's roomy and they have a separate room if there are more customers. You can have group events here if you want.

This so called " No #1 buffet" definetley is not number 1. They have horrible HORRIBLE customer service. Takes forever to get a seat, and the owner apparently doesn't give a crap about their customers. Food quality sucks, i guess quantity is better than quality here. This place is always packed though, iuno why..maybe because all the other buffets are all so damn FAR. Anyway, if you plan on going here, good luck.

I've been to my fair share of Asian buffets, believe me. I actually love Asian buffets. But this place, oh lord. Where to even begin? Now I will give it to them that they have one of the largest selections of food I've ever seen, but the quality of food is sub par. I don't know why I was expecting any better given the dirt cheap prices. Some of their dim sum was decent but the rest was really mediocre. Some of the sauces in their dishes were a bit off and I didn't trust their sushi enough to risk having to spend some quality time with my toilet. They had a pretty good selection of seafood and most of the people around us had their plates piled with it. Super spacious, as you would expect a buffet style place to be. This really big guy sat at a nearby table and destroyed plate after plate of craw fish the whole time I was there. He definitely got his money's worth. They only have crab legs at dinner but they put it out when the time is near and if you're sneaky you can probably grab a few without them seeing, just as I observed an older, portly Asian gentleman doing (he didn't even bother to read the DINNER ONLY sign). I'm giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 because of the price. If they advertise a price that low, you shouldn't come in expecting to have spectacular food. But I'd only come here if I really had no other choice.

The signage on the front really says it all.... "NO #1 BUFFET" Why do all these one-star Yelpers think that they need to rub it in? "#1 Buffet?....I don't think so!" NEITHER DO THE OWNERS!!! I almost wanna give "No #1 Buffet" an extra star for being honest!

My mom and dad loves this place. I think it's cuz it's close to home and they get the senior discount. One star. I've been here a few times (always with my parents) and I've always come out fully stuffed so I can't really complain. Two stars. Even during lunch hour they have crawfish and a variety of other seafood options. Three stars. I wasn't too fond of the fried fish though; it was too tough for me chew. You should definitely try this place if you haven't. For the price of 9.99, you just can't beat that when dining out for lunch. This gives you a lot of options whereas if you were going to try some new restaurant, you would only have one meal and if you didn't like it you would be stuck with it. Maybe that's just me and my indecisiveness. Four stars. Btw, I hate buffets (because of my tendency to overeat) but I will definitely come back.

My aunties & uncles have taken to this buffet as their favorite place to take us all out to eat. For $8/person & for the variety of food that you can get, I can understand why! Of course, since this is an $8 buffet, you really can't expect the quality to be the same as a Las Vegas buffet, but for being what it is, the food is pretty good. The place can seat 550 people, so it is huge! Foodwise, I like the jalapeno chicken, pork korean bbq, swai (white fish), & hot & sour soup (I know, its a guilty pleasure). I also like sampling all the sushi, of which they have a pretty good variety. All in all, pretty solid food & not bad for an $8 buffet.

After a lengthy but productive business meeting with one of our clients, my business associate and I felt very hungry and decided to frequent this place for a late lunch. Here, lunch is generally served until 3:30 pm and we had just made it; we arrived @ approximately 2:20 pm, on a Saturday (01/08/11), and the place was packed with hungry folks. Fortunately, we got seated rather quickly. Their food categories were in fact extensive, a compilation of Sushi, Mongolian BBQ, Noodles, Pizzas, Seafood, Chinese, and much more. I preferred to just work my way into a few favorite items and start from there... I also got chrysanthemum tea to help wash down all the good stuff. This place really lived up to their name as NO.1.

This is absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt the worst buffet experience I have ever had. They had so much food to choose from. I was so excited. The number of fish dishes alone was incredible. Too bad I could not find a single thing that tasted good. It was like a nightmare. You keep trying things thinking something has to taste good. The place is packed with Asians, which is suppose to be a good sign of a great Asian restaurant. The fish tasted extremely fishy and everything had weird flavors that I did not like. The noodles tasted like they were boiled in swamp water as did the rice. I know I should give this place another try. It could not have possibly been that bad. I just have not been able to force myself to live that nightmare again. Maybe it was too authentic for my American tastes?

I usually don't recommend or ask to go to buffets... but every time I'm out in central cal, I end up talking about No. 1 Buffet. hahaha. This place lives up to it's name. I cannot say I've been to a better chinese buffet, especially for the price!! This place is huge!! Don't be afraid to come just because you think it's going to be busy, because they will accommodate you! I've come in parties of 15 individuals the last couple times, and we're always seated right away. haha! Sushi, crab, frog legs, grilled items, pho, whatever you want, all you can eat!

Large warehouse looking type place, plenty of parking, most of the food was over cooked or had been sitting out for a long time. Two stars for my two favorite items: the soft serve ice cream and the hottie waiter who looked like a taller version of Jet Li.

We came here for a family party on Saturday. Since it was a buffet I wasn't expecting too much out of it and I expected their food to taste somewhat bland and it did. But it is a buffet and i'm not expecting the cooks in the back to take their time on a few pieces of chicken when they have to cook the whole kitchen. There were a lot of people when we got there but it is a big place and no one had to wait to be seated, its about 2 times bigger than Golden Corral. For the buffet area, there are about 6 little islands and they have similar foods on each island. Against the wall they have food that they cook for you on the spot just like Mongolian BBQ and a sushi area. I tried to get taste of everything but that was too hard. I got a lot of fish balls, steamed pork buns, and dim sum because those were good. The sushi was nothing great, it just tasted like the ones you buy at safeway or bel-air. As you can see there is a lot of variety at this place. The service was good, the staff was really friendly and they were on top of getting us our drinks and serving us. Since it was a big family party I expected them to be a little more impatient but they weren't. Price wise I dont know because it was a family party and my Grandma and Auntie treated all of us to it so I don't know how much they paid. Overall it's just a regular Asian buffet, it's not as good as Mizu's or Fuji's (those are the only Asian buffets i've tried) but if you are in the mood to eat a whole lot of variety of Asian foods, this place will do.

The is update is not for the food....the food is still a two star as it was decent enough to eat (except for the hot and sour soup...don't eat it...you'll regret it). This review is for the the cleanliness of the restaurant. The floors/carpets was littered with food crumbs and god know what else. The smell in this place is unpleasant. We had a very nice wait staff, not as attentive on the soda refill but very good on removing the used plates (that was the highlight). And out of all the tables in this place the snooty hostess placed us right next to the food dump station...yuke....we moved of course. Why did I come back after a two star rating....my husband wanted buffet and this was the closest to home.... big mistake......I will not come here again, he will have to pay me first. Dear Owner of #1 Buffet. PLEASE vacuum and sweep your floors!!! Keep it clean, you have enough staff!!! Get the snooty hostess to do it!!

As with any buffet, there is always a risk in terms of how fresh the food is and the cleanliness from being grabbed by so many people. Although I haven't witnessed any of the horror stories, this place gives other Asian buffets, (e.g., Todai) a run for their money with the quantity of seafood, such as lobster, king crab legs, and crawfish. Most of the stuffed dishes, such as crab and scallops, are a bit too salty. Moreover, the sushi bar is something that is less desirable given how stale the fish look on nigiri and even on ice for sashimi. The Peking duck slices are so tiny and thin that the ratio of bun to meat isn't balanced enough to satisfy. However, the various types of dumplings for dim sum, customize bowl of noodles, grilled meats, and desserts are fine. The desserts range from soft serve ice cream to pastries to fresh fruit. Parking is ample in the strip mall and the decor is decent without any holes in the wall or awkward colors. The wait staff is expedient with water and removing plates. Given all this in terms of cost and lack of intimacy, it's still a wonder that someone would have a wedding buffet here.

This isn't real authentic Asian food. It's below par and its very oily. Yes it's cheap for king crab legs and crawfish but the quality of the food is not great. It's ok if you just want to get full but not have high quality food. Will not come back and I don't understand why it's packed with cars all the time.

I ate at this place a few times before. However, today it was the worst dinning experience I've ever had. Many items were not too fresh and the dim sum are way too salty and watery. Chickens are overcooked and dried. When asked questions regards of the foods, staff responded in a rude and hostile manner. I recommended avoid this place. Just like the other Yelp writer stated: If you wanted a good buffet, try go to Golden Correl instead.

the selection is very large, almost overwhelming, I got full just by sampling a little bit of everything to get an idea on the quality, I always do this when it's my first time trying a new buffet to get a feel of the place. the cleanliness, and modern design almost makes me feel like Im eating in some fancy restaurant in LA , it doesnt feel like Im in south Sac by the atmosphere... the sushi was sub standard, I tried a couple pieces and had to spit it out because it tasted so cheap and low quality the dim sum Hak Gao [shrimp dumplings] were terrible! I took a bite and spit that out too, the quality of the shrimp they used was not acceptable the pork ribs in salted black bean sauce was very bland, not enough black bean sauce, almost tasted like plain boiled meat, too watery, not authentic the best food was the Islands with all the hot Chinese foods like fried fish, chicken, pork ribs in dark sauce, teriyaki on a stick, vegetables, etc the dessert area was also very good with a nice selection of cakes, cookies, fruits, salad, ice cream, and more for $9.45 Im not complaining! thats still a very reasonable low price for the large selection, there isnt anything else like it in the area, so this is probably the number one buffet on Stockton blvd or south Sac the crowds can be a little annoying, so it's best to get there early before the crowds get here, probably right before 11am is best, thats when everything is hot & fresh made and hasnt been picked through yet it's not gourmet food quality or anything like that, but it's decent food for the money I would give it a try, it's a fun place to eat, I especially liked the salt & pepper shrimp in the shell & tilapia

I like No 1 Buffet, we come here at least twice a month. They have a good selection to choose from but I always get my normal fried crabs, fried green beans, and fried frog legs. I don't really like their selection of sushi or dim sum. Their pho and grill/Korean bbq station is pretty cool. They also have a soft serve ice cream machine (a plus!) Prices are really reasonable and wait staff are pretty attentive when you need refills, more napkins, etc.

This is a large Asian Buffet. They offer a great selection for a reasonable price. The quality of the buffet is good. They have a nice selection of sushi, Chinese food, Korean BBQ, American food, and deserts. The waitstaff consistently bring out new food as soon as the trays on the steam table looks empty. The place is big, clean, and well run. They also have the most elaborate indoor koi pond in a Chinese restaurant I have ever seen. The fish are huge and the must be worth thousands of dollars. This is one of the better Asian buffet I have ever been to. I would pay way more for inferior food and service in San Francisco.

Location: Easy to find, easy access to the freeway, close to other restaurants and shops, plenty of parking Interior: Open and spacious, good for groups, simple chairs and tables.. nothing fancy dancy.. Cleanliness: Depends when you go. Come early when there's not a lot of people, it's not so bad. When it's busy, ehhh.. Selection of Food: Chicken, beef, fish, seafood, sushi, dim sum, veggies and desserts Service: Don't expect too much. Taste: For the most part, I'm not a fan. The food is either over cooked or not that tasty. Price: Kind of pricey for the quality, but some people think it's a deal.

I had driven by No 1 Buffet many times on my way to a massage at one of the foot reflexology massage places near Stockton & Florin. There always seemed to be a fair number of cars in the lot, so I thought I would give it a try in spite of some unexplained doubts. I usually give a buffet a try for lunch rather than pay the high price for dinner in case the buffet is NG. On my visit, I threw my caution to the wind and tried the dinner, since they prominently displayed "Lobster" outside. I wish I had been more cautious. I was seated in a miserable spot, right under a blaring TV which I couldn't see. I went back to the buffet several times, trying to find something tasty, but only found one dish (steamed fish). Everything else was either lacking in flavor or unsatisfying. I tried finishing the meal with a soft serve desert, but was unable to eat more than a couple of spoons as it tasted like sand to me. From the reviews I've see here, I guess "hit or miss" is a good description, since some people seemed to enjoy their meals. I for one don't plan to going back to find out if my first and only visit was just a fluke. Note to self: DNR

I am a huge fan of the Seafood here. There is fish, lobster, muscles, crap, squid, and other stuff this white girl doesn't even know about yet. I wish I lived closer to No 1 Buffet. This coming from someone who usually doesn't like buffets because they are full of bad choice foods, that I will undoubtedly eat. Seafood has no or little fat, i'm told.

I've been to this restaurant many times to eat a variety of foods and were great!! sometimes it sucks because you have to wait untill that guy calls your number for example like this "number 24!!!!! number 24!!!! highlights: chow mein fish ice cream chicken wings french fries salad

This place has a lot of dirtbag clientele ... Because, well look... It's in the hood. You can get a comparable amount of hookers to the buffet choices, simply staring out the window. Food is so-so, sushi is crap. I could have made that sushi, and I've never made sushi in my life. The fried crab is always good, though. Food is hot, plentiful and no waiting. The service is always quick. If you're not looking for fine dining, but just something hot and quick with variety, this place isn't so bad. Kind of like the retarded cousin of Mizu's. (Now, that's a REAL Chinese buffet with excellent sushi!)

The only reason why I ever went here is because my family and friends always invited me to go with them. And I hope they don't ask me anymore, ever. Every time I went here, it was a bit too expensive. I went here with 2 other people for dinner, and it was about 50 something bucks.. There is a lot of variety but it is barely fresh. A lot of what I had was way too bland or salty. The sushi isn't very good, I had to spit them all out. The dessert was probably the only good thing... But the ice cream cones were not crunchy at all, so they must have been sitting out for a while. The service is whatever.. The only thing they do is take your plates away and refill your drinks. And they look at you and wait for you to pay. Probably to make sure they get a tip.. I wouldn't go back here at all, no matter who asked me.

3 1/2 stars Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the range and variety of items available to the dining patron. Too many hot stations to choose from with at least 40 different stir fried dishes not including a Mongolian BBQ station, BBQ Grill station, Sushi station, Dim Sum and Soup station, Fruit and Dessert station, Salad station and small Western food station. Too much dishes to list. Don't mean to be stingy with stars but How many stars can you actually award to a buffet? Yes indeedy there are so many choices that anyone's appetitie can be satiated. However Are they any dishes that stand out as delicious? The answer is NO! The quality is sacrificed for the quantity. Definitely no home runs here just hits. OK? I recommened this place because of the variety and the cleanliness. And they keep all of the stations stocked well and full But.......Kinda disturbing to see greedy diners with two plates in their hands skillfully packing on as much food as possible. "The buffet ain't going anywhere and there's plenty to go around." I guess they gave it 3 1/2 stars too!

For an all you can eat buffet, this place is pretty damn good!! First all you can eat buffet that I can honestly say I enjoyed. I came with my mom for lunch (8.95) They had a soup station, bbq station& mongolian bbq station where you prepare it how you like it & have the cooks make/grill it for you fresh. YUMMY! They had a sushi bar, the selection was limited because it was lunch, there was a fruit/dessert bar and they have the usual chinese/oriental dishes. Ya know, dim sim, chow fun, crab wontons, chow mein, crawfish, pork buns, etc. All really good. I'd say give this place a try. Its pretty good for a chinese buffet. A lot better than others. Service is pretty good. Lots of servers walking around, refilling drinks, and taking plates. Theyre all really friendly too.

Okay, the quality of the food here is pretty bad. The price is great for the food, but I'd rather pay $3 more dollars for a better buffet at Fuji's. I guess in the end, this place trumps with the biggest buffet selection I've ever seen, plus the cheapness. But the quality of all the food is just average (erring on the side of below average). Maybe I went at an off hour or slow hour where all the food was not that fresh. Everything (especially the sushi) seemed a bit stale. Pros: HUGE SELECTION!!! TRIPE (yes i'm weird but i LOVE tripe) polite service cheap Cons: Stale food weird lighting kept blinking on and off totally distracted me

I was really hoping that this place would stand out from the other Asian buffets, especially with a name like Number One... The food is about as bland as what could be had at Kawa or the former New China Buffet in the same neighborhood, but Kawa's sushi is a lot better... Dare I say that Tahiti on Florin has better food???

LAST TIME IM GOING HERE!!!! this place is horrible the food is horrible the service is horrible. The only thing I enjoyed was watching the diabetic people across from me eating the food as if insulin was mixed in with it, they weren't kidding with the food. 1)the plates arn't even clean I picked one up and it was all bumpy and stuff couldn't even wash it right? 2)the brocoli and beef thing tasted like veggie food. it was so plain and disgusting 3)honey walnut shrimp, it was so stale and hard even tho it came out fresh it tasted like it been out for hours 4)spare ribs, wow they couldn't destroy this item even more. it was all messy and torned down. one bite and i wanted to literally barf 5)pho(vietnamese noodles): you couldn't even call it that. the guy working the station wasn't even vietnamese as I try to talk to him in it. all they had for meat for the pho was shrimp. 6) sushi, where's the crabmeat and tuna in this thing? I asked if that was a dragonroll i was looking at and he had a dumb blank look on his face like I was crazy, so I walked away 7)pineapple chicken was crunchy like chips never the less it was the only thing that was close to decent for BUFFET food. 8)what wrong with that pizza? It was hard to cut and it looked all sloppy and drippy like the cheese was retarded. 9)the CRAB/LOBSTER had NO MEAT in it. I mean NO MEAT, I cracked that thing open to find emptiness. 10)the wonton soup or w.e that my mom got me was decent mostly because I overloaded that thing with pepper. 11)the shu mai here is nasty omg what did they stuff in this thing chicken tounge and frog toes? it looked deformed!! 12)the fried chicken was all torned up in pieces I couldn't tell if it was a wing or breast 13)chicken wings tasted to spicy and covered in too much sauce. I don't like chicken wings either way. 14)the only thing i liked was the kiwi yep thats it KIWI the only thing that looked and tasted fresh in this place 4 people costed us $49.07 and my dad had the audacity to leave a 5 dollar tip. goodday. sorry for the negative review I wish there was a 0 star review, because this is what it shouldve gotten.

In terms of Chinese buffets this is one of the best I've ever been to. I'm not a buffet fan but I was happy with this one. I stumbled upon this with my two friends when we decided to get fat and just stuff our faces. The food was surprisingly good and there was a lot of variety. It was packed both times I went and I mean packed. Despite all the people, our server was attentive and always came to get our dirty plates and refill our drinks. If you're in the mood to become a heifer then I would suggest coming here for a good buffet.

Lunch time, I went there w/ my boyfriend & cousins/bestfriends. We recieved the worst service, our waitress was extra pushy. Her name is Fanny, she lingered around & waited for us to pay. She pushed for money, but during the time that my group was eating she mixed up our drinks / switched our straws (lemonade drink with coke straw) / all other kinds of messes. Left all the plates we were done with there until she rushed for us to pay. Then was upset because she didn't recieve good tip b/c we didn't like her service. Anyways, she came back w/ an attitude demanding us to pay when we weren't done eating yet. Never going there again!

Came and ate here for lunch. Still the same. It looked like they had the same food choices as last time with a few items I thought were new. However I still got the usual hot and sour soup and sushi. Ate the same custard buns. At least they're consistent. Oh, they did have lychee today which I enjoyed because I used to eat those a lot as a kid.

Everytime I eat out at #1 buffet, the waiters/waitresses are rude. Like, really rude. We can't stay for two hours? Wth. After it's an hour, they start staring at you a lot(to the point in which you start squirming), and soon brings your bill to you. It's their way of telling you to go. One time, we all got up for desserts and the waitress was telling us in her broken English that we need to pay. Ummm...we weren't leaving? They are fearful of people leaving without paying the bill. It's not like we were going to leave, just getting desserts. Don't they know that we want to enjoy our money's worth? And some of us eat slow. Geez. I would never had gone again, but several of my family members always find some way to drag me along... -__- The selection of food is good, but the service is horrible.

Who doesn't like asian buffets? All the variety and food...umm AMAZING! Ok, but honestly I have only been here once and I can honestly say that it was pretty darn good. Super busy, lots of choices for both meals, appetizers and desserts. Everything was pretty tasty!! I will definitely go back when I am in the sacramento area!

one of the more decent chinese buffets that i have been to. the price is very good. the selection of food is varied. they had different stations for korean bbq, chinese food, dim sum, desserts, sushi etc. the dim sum on its own, was a-ok could've had it better at a real dimsum place. the sushi, was ok, it wasnt too bad but it wasnt great. the fruit selection, was amazing! they had so many different fruits like loquat, mango, pineapple, melon, watermelon etc....all very sweet and good! the desserts were ok, the only things that stood out were the white chocolate macademia cookies, the coffee cake strudel and the soft serve. overall not a bad expereince, 3 to maybe 3.5 stars.

Never again. The food quality here is in a death spiral. I've been here maybe 3 times since my earlier review and each time the quality has gone down from the last. The grilled meats have a weird taste like there's too much baking soda in the marinade. The last time we went, nice steamed fish was replaced by some meaty fish that was dry and tough. They said they had lobster but they don't bring it out very often and people hover around that one station waiting for it so good luck trying to score a piece. The stations and floors also need to be cleaned more often with the amount of traffic that area gets. Service was still good though and the plates, napkins, and water were taken care of.

Bottom line: The value and variety at this place is hard to beat for the price you pay. I came here with my parents who eat here every so often. Seeing as I love to eat, they figured I'd take advantage and get their money's worth. There's enough variety to satiate most people. I think I passed by some macaroni & cheese and pizza. There were some very ethnic options (tripe, chicken feet) as well as your standard asian dishes, including dim sum. There's a large sushi section, and the chefs are constantly churning out rolls. There's two "made to order" stations where you gather the raw materials (noodles/meats/veggies) and pass them to a guy in front of a large grill area who will cook and then plate your items a few minutes later. Dessert: your standard soft serve machine with 3 spigots - choco, vanilla and swirl. Basic pastries and cakes.

Pretty good food for buffet, has a large variety. Always busy in the evening, but they seem to have plenty of room for everyone. I have eaten there a couple times. I recommend arriving hungry so you can try a bit of everything.

Yes, it is hit or miss here. Pass on the sushi, it's filler and a waste of time. The mongolian-ish bbq is pretty good and even has shrimp in addition to the standard pork/chicken/beef/lamb and it's fresh and made to order. The hot foods are mostly good too, and there's a pretty big selection. The service is generally attentive and good as well. I guess I just can't get over the massive number of people that come here and how busy the lunch rush can get. I'm also a bit of a germaphobe and this place has me constantly reaching for my hand sanitizer. That being said, the food itself is decent, most of the time, and the desserts are yummy. The price is higher for dinner than lunch, so if you're trying them out, I recommend you go early for lunch.

Came here for a family reunion. My aunt REALLY REALLY wanted to come here. So much so that she changed the venue choice from Mizu to this place. Got here about 11:10 am and the place was already packed! The food was okay. I mean, for a place to serve hundreds of people, the quality control isn't going to be the best. But for a buffet it was not bad. There was a Mongolian BBQ section which my bro said was pretty good. They have the requisite sushi section - not much of it was raw fish; lots of vegetarian concoctions. The only thing that stuck out for me was the deep fried shrimp. You know the kind where the whole thing is fried and you eat it whole - shell and all? Normally I don't do that type of thing, but these were pretty good! For dessert they had egg custard tarts (dried out and rubbery), soft serve ice cream, little sponge cakes and assorted fruits. The fresh fruits there were grapes, strawberries, bananas and assorted melons. It is not a relaxing place to go to. The energy there reminded me of an airport waiting lounge with echo-y sounds, people hurrying about carrying things and waiting in lines.

This was so gross they cant even cook the rice correctly. Buffets are not really my thing, but its because I never go back for seconds. Not sure how they can stay in business with food that taste like rubber
