The employees at Eggies are tops! Their customer service is amazing :fast, accurate, and attentive. I love the t-shirts they wear-customized with their name and a unique number. The setting is the typical American diner-nothing fancy. The parking is limited, and I question whether the parking lot can accommodate customers cars when its operating a maximum capacity. The food is delicious, quantities are generous, and the order is cooked to perfection according to customer request. The prices are HIGH. There's no way around that, in fact, I'd say they are about $5 more than what you would pay at your standard American diner. The coffee prices, again, are about double the price. My advice to trim your out-of-pocket costs would be to purchase the Groupon when it's available.

Had a great get together with my girlfriends family at Eggies today.. Food pretty good and tasty. My only issue is their hours Closes way to early for me. But kudos to my favorite waitress.. Betty ( boop), a name I call her, is always fantastic! She is ALWAYS accommodating and very personable. Great service always with a smile!! Tell her Sandy sent ya

Eggies was an O.K restaraunt The eggs were good The biscuit was very good. The hash browns however were not good. They were very dry and extremely bland !!!!! It really was a disappointment !!!! Everything else was so good but the hash browns were horrible !!! It was like eating paper !!!! So if you like hash browns do not come to this restaraunt !!!

I came here with my sister and mom on a Saturday because my sister bought a Groupon. We arrived on a Saturday around 10:30, which was later than we planned, but we didn't have to wait for a table. I did notice it got busier once we sat down, so come earlyish if you dont' want to wait. The parking lot is not too big as well. This place definitely has an old school/home-y feel to it, but it is clean. I ordered the Denver Omelet with no cheese and it came with hash browns and a side of toast (I chose English muffin). My sister got linguica with scrambled eggs with fruit (50 cents extra) instead of hash browns and a biscuit with gravy (70 cents extra) instead of toast. It was more than enough for all three of us to share because their portions are HUGE. The omelet was cooked perfectly, not too runny or overdone. The hash browns were nice and crispy. The english muffin was toasted and buttered and I spread strawberry jam over it. The biscuit was ginormous - I can't imagine anybody finishing it by themselves. The three of us couldn't even tackle it! The white gravy was tasty. I didn't try the linguica but my sister and mom liked it. The fruit was fresh. Overall, the food was very good and portions were very generous. This would be a great place to share dishes. You can taste the care that goes into their food, as opposed to a typical chain like Denny's or Ihop. I probably wouldn't drive all the way out there just for breakfast, but it's worth trying if you're in the area or have a groupon.

I am amazed people still eat at this place. It's gross and has roaches! ROACHES! Oh well I hope the health department shuts it down soon.

While the breakfast menu at Eggies is great all around, the Alpha meal is the corned beef hash, but get it with hash browns instead of the home fried potatoes. You will not be disappointed. I go every weekend for breakfast. Pro tip for weekend folks on parking. If the lot is full on the weekend, which it is a lot, park in the dental center parking lot next to the jiffy lube. Very short walk and it is never full since the dentist is closed on weekends. Great for big vehicles. You can just go around the tiny block, all right turns, to get back around. See you there!

After reading Mike O's review and being a true connoisseur of all things having to do with eggs I decided to give Eggies a try. In the midst of recovering from an intense work week and trying to get my vay cay on I felt that a hearty breakfast would be a great way to start. I caught myself staring in a trance at the egg-o-licious menu....had I died and gone to egg heaven??? I snapped out of it when the waitress, who moments later covertly appeared at my table, asked for my order. I ordered the original house breakfast which came with two eggs, which I ordered over easy, house seasoned potatoes, and a mound of Applewood smoked bacon. ...yep...you got that right ...it was an enormous mound of sick crispy apple wood smoked bacon. The service here was excellent and the waitress was attentive. Added bonus: My coffee cup was never more than half empty or should I say half-full :) Slight downfall: The Parking sucks here ...as it took me several tries of squeezing my truck in a microscopic spot like a piece to a jigsaw puzzle.. But to no avail I eventually squeezed my truck into the Micro mini parking spot, and ever so gingerly opened my door and hopped out. For those of you bacon and egg hearty breakfast lovers like me you ought to check this place out!!

This is my favorite breakfast joint on this side of town!!!! Please please please bring a huge appetite, be prepared to share or go home with leftovers! I have never ordered something that I didn't like. Some of my favorites are the country fried steak and the apple chicken sausage omelet. I also love the country fried potatoes with grilled onions. They are always the perfect combo of soft on the inside and crunch on the outside! Mmmmmmmm, my favorite! I always order coffee and the have really great coffee. For how busy the parking lot is and how full the restaurant is they always seem to get us seated quickly and served fast. My only "complaint" is that they are not open all day because I can eat breakfast at anytime of the day!

The service was great. The food even though large in portion was mediocre. What was difficult to swallow was the mold I saw in the ice bin as I sat directly across from it. I usually order juice with ice but decided to just have juice and water with no ice

Ask for Casie excellent service the plated came out fast and the Popeye Omelette came out fat filled with mushrooms and spinach and was good!

I love breakfast, and this place has it! I purchased a groupon also, $10 for $20. I really wanted a waffle, but couldn't decide which one I really wanted, but in the end resorted on the Waffle Special with sunny side up eggs and bacon. It was a rather large Belgian waffle, and was full of yums and delight! My friend who came with me ordered a pancakes combo which included 3 pancakes, sausage and scrambled eggs. The portions were pretty big, and filled us up. I had really good service there also, as the server was very active and talkative. The parking was very easy to get, as we went on a non-busy weekday, but the lot is a bit small and may get over-crowded at times.

Never heard of this place until Groupon so we thought what the hell lets give it a try... Worst mistake of my life!!! The service was fine but the food was HORRIBLE I felt like I was eating grease everything tasted the same and had no flavor. I would not recommend this place & would feel bad giving leftovers to my dog.

Wanted to go to Bacon & Butter but it was suuuuper packed and we had somewhere to be by Arden so we found this place. What a pleasant surprise!! The corned beef hash here would rival any fancy pants, hipster cafe any day of the week! Soooo good! Come here for fantastic food and over the top awesome service! Fast, cheap and hella good. You'll need a to-go box!

Our first experience here for breakfast back in 2012 was great. And when I bought a groupon for this place several months back, the ratings of this place was good. So I was extremely disappointed with our 2nd visit. The main issue I have with this restaurant is cleanliness. The jug which they brought to serve hot water for my tea was not cleaned and had food sticking to it. Such a yucky sight! Food itself was average and overpriced. Staff was very friendly, that is the only plus point about this place. I was also surprised to find the restaurant full with some people waiting to be seated. We got the Corned Beef Hash and a Buffalo Chicken sandwich along with tea and coffee. TH liked his Corned beef hash. But I didn't really enjoy the sandwich. It tasted like the sandwiches from fastfood drive thru menu. It goes without saying that I will never go back. And I assume the other people also think the same, which might explain why their ratings went down recently.

The food at Eggies is excellent! My favorite dish is the B&G Breakfast(Biscuits and Gravy). Quite a few times we have gotten together here with our friends to have breakfast. Every time the waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The food is always delicious and fresh. we will keep coming back to Eggies for as long as it is open.

I love this place. Its not fancy by any means but the food is good. I always get the carnitas breakfast plate. Plan ahead because there is always a wait. Only thing I've had here that's not so good is the biscuits and gravy, kind of bland.

Very UNHAPPY with the cleanliness of this establishment. Asked for coffee ALL 3 cups had RED LIPSTICK on the rim. . Ew! Food had no flavor deference between potato, eggs all tasted the same. Should have left when the cups were not washed & all reused! Some would day" maybe it was an off day " Not intetested! Not the kinda of experience I expected. Maybe that was the problem. . I had expectations!

This place is definitely one of those gas stop, looking restaurants where you stop to get gas and shack up on food. The atmosphere is very relaxed and everyone is doing their own thing, having their own conversations and the waiters are buzzing around. I got the french toast special that came with fresh strawberries ( the fresh strawberries were the best part cause they were actually real fresh strawberries) with a side of bacon strips. The price was kind of up there for breakfast food but you do get pretty big portions, I ended up taking the rest of my food home. Bottom Line: Everyone has been raving about this place and how great the food is. I'll probably come back to try a different dish and see if I change my opinion but it's not a place I would make as a regular as of right now.

Eggies has been around for a long time. I've heard of it for a while but didn't go until just the other morning. We went in for a late breakfast and the place was still pretty busy, even though it was closer to lunch than it was for breakfast. I will admit that I am not much of a breakfast person. I like it, but I don't LOVE it like some others do. Let's just say that if you give me breakfast for dinner I will give you the WTF face. Besides being busy, the next thing I noticed was that everything was a little expensive. The next thing I noticed was that the service kind of sucked. We had a party of 6, including one kid. It took a while to get menus and it took a while to get our orders taken. At one point, someone asked for juice and our waitress put up her hand because she didn't want to hear it. It was weird. She did bring the juice a few minutes later, so I'm not sure what that was all about. The food was fine. It was the same breakfast you get pretty much anywhere else. I had the chicken fried steak. It was good, but again, it was just chicken fried steak. Overall I say this place is two and a half stars. The food is the same food you get at 90% of breakfast places, only the service is a little worse and the prices are a little higher. I don't think I'll be back.

Decided to check out this place since I purchased a groupon. ($10 for $20 - I would highly suggest getting this groupon if you are planning on checking out this spot). It's a good sized mom and pop diner. The menu has a good amount of selection, but I find the prices a bit high. I went on a Sunday morning so it was busy, for 2 people we waited about 15-20 minutes. I ordered the corn beef hash since I've seen a few good reviews on it - it was okay. It was dry, luckily I ordered an over easy egg on top. My friend had the veggie omelette, which she enjoyed. With the groupon, I only needed to pay a difference of $5. Parking is a bit odd. There's not that many parking spaces but you can always park in the residential area. And this place is fairly easy to find. I'll check this place out again and try something else on the menu, but I would purchase the Groupon first.

Came in here for brunch w/ a friend the other day and I can't figure out why people love this place so much. Parking is bad at this place and it's hard to even find a spot on the street. After finding a parking spot on the street. We walked in and were seated promptly. (** on a side note**This is just a tip to the owner. Invest a little bit back into your business and buy new water cups, silverware, and plates. These are old and disgusting and it's time to replace them.) The food came out pretty fast. I ordered the eggs benedict and my friend ordered one of their scrambles. Now at first glance of my plate I liked what I saw. Huge portions and crispy fries. But on tasting the food... "meh" The hollandaise sauce on the benedict was REALLY thick... Most likely from the sauce just sitting all day on a warmer and it didn't taste fresh or have any flavor! They should've used more lemon+cayenne but it's ok, the sauce isn't what killed it. The slightly over poached egg could also be overlooked. But the canadian bacon was horrendous. It was discolored and tasted old and awful with more of a rubbery texture to it. Not to mention our waters were never refilled. All in all the eggs benedict was the worst I've ever HAD! The scramble looked good though, but I didn't try it. The service was also pretty bad. This place is barley keeping it together, gave 2 stars because my friend liked the scramble and the food came out pretty fast. Needless to say I'm not coming back and the search for a "go to breakfast spot" is ongoing

I have been to eggies many times over the course of years. I have no complaints as my fiance and I enjoy the food here. It is a little run down looking and could use some repairs, but it has a friendly atmosphere. I saw someone post that the prices were high like the cheesecake factory, but I have never experienced that personally as I find the price of the food to be on par with other places. This place is great and I love to eat here when I can.

I've recently returned and the place is still the same, but the food prices have spiked too high. No mention of an early bird special anymore. You are paying the price for say Cheescake Factory, but getting basic diner food. Chicken fried steak and eggs was roughly $15 and the 'sausage gravy' had no specs of meat. Also they need new cups, they are so old and worn looking. Feels gross to drink out of them. I felt bad for taking my parents there and won't be returning. But the service was pretty good. Nice staff.

Wowee wow....delicious! Got a groupon and took the boyfriend. Spinach Benedict and rojo burrito were out of this world and service was on point. Portions were ENORMOUS so bring your appetite. We will definitely be back.

I purchased a Groupon and decided to give this place a try! It's your typical mom & pop diner. Not the cleanest, nicest place I've had breakfast, but I liked that in my sweats and sweatshirt, I didn't feel under dressed. This is a simple place with your typical diner food. I ordered a Scramble that didn't really have much flavor. Thank God for the Chalula hot sauce the waitress gave me! This helped me add a mild kick and some flavor to my dish. The home fries weren't the best I had, but it's hard to mess up breakfast potatoes. My husband ordered the corned beef hash . . . I would recommend this meal for sure! The corned beef was made from scratch and was very tasty! I kept taking bites off my husbands plate! I will be back again to explore other options on the menu!

They were great once. Now Denny's offers better food, service, and cleanliness. I have been coming to this place for years. It has slowly gotten worse each time. On our most recent visit we went for breakfast. Waited over 15 minutes to give our drink order which was funny since there was only one other occupied table when we sat down. We left. Not coming back.

Found this place on groupon. Paid $17 for $40 worth of food. I had the pork chops breakfast. It came with 2 pork chops, home fries, eggs and toast. I has one made Southern Style, it was breaded and came with gravy. The other was Cajun spiced grilled with onions. I prefer the Southern style, but both were good. We also ordered the Mushroom Burger, Chicken Fingers and fries and the quesadilla kids meal. Everything was pretty good. Well worth the $17 paid. Will be back when in the area. Recommended!

Great breakfast! I've been past this location numerous times and finally decided to check it out after buying a Groupon (Only paid $10 and it covered $20 of my meal). Our server was nice and the food was good. I do think I'll stop by again.

Who would have thought!!! Excellent & authentic Chile Verde at a place called Eggies! Yes I thoroughly enjoyed the most flavorful, tooth tender, moist and perfectly seasoned pork at Eggies and in the form of their Chile Verde Super Burrito too.... Finally a delicious and satisfying Mexican food dish; the first one for me since moving to Sac just over 5 months ago and I am still pleasantly mind blown that it came from this joint.... Now, this review is going to cover the two visits here to dine over the past 2-3 weeks and and having two completely different dishes and servers each trip...... Ooooooh the anticipation builds I know ........ Breaking down into meals, service and cleanliness as for me those are the three important things..... Meals: Chile Verde SUPER Burrito: 5 Stars and its's the shit! No joke it is..... GYNORMOUS portion and they don't put rice in theirs an added bonus for me as I don't eat rice. Loaded with large pieces of tooth tender, freshly prepared and seasoned pork, guacamole, sour cream, choice of cheeses and I chose Monterey Jack and flavorful salsa.... It was fantastic...... Couldn't even eat half of it so took the rest home for munching on later and now noted not nearly as good reheated but I can live with that it was still awesome served fresh outta the kitchen.... And the cook I learned whose also the owner is Filipino which blew my concept about ethnicity specializing in ethnic specific foods... I love that.... 1/2 Pound Burger: 1 star and eaten today..... I'm still depressed over how terrible it was only I am......I get that way when I experience cremated an or assaulted food.... Ordered mine medium-well done an it came back charred to a crisp, dry as dirt and bitter from its over done charbroiling...... It was gross and now you may be wondering why I didn't send it back.... Well I'll tell ya..... Still not feeling my feisty, perky lovely self after being majorly under the weather the past several weeks and was too tired and needed to eat as it was already after 12 and this was the first meal of the day....PLUS I shouldn't have had to have sent it back I didn't stutter and she clearly repeated my selection as she took the order.... Another beef I had about the burger was that it was no where near a half a pound of beef and I am a serious carnivore and meatie and it wasn't. There was actually more bun than meat which I wasn't at all expecting when compared to my first trip here and the beloved burrito I enjoyed.... Bottomless refills! LOVE LOVE LOVE them.... Our diet coke is huge in size and they refill it as often as you like and on both trips without having to ask.... I am always amazed when an establishment has the nerve to charge you for a refill on a soda you've already paid for and Eggies doesn't and I like that; alot.... Service: I usually make note of names and love putting them into my reviews however I'm blaming it on my unusual state of health lately in that I didn't... Damn and so I am going with hair color instead... Original server was fantastic and had grayish blonde hair. She was attentive, had a great sense of humor and went above and beyond the call of duty making us feel right at home... Today's server also a female had predominately black hair with two white steaks in the front. She sat us promptly and took our orders however something was just "off" and when she didn't ask not a once how our meals were that sealed it for me.... It wasn't busy today so that isn't the excuse for the less than personalized service..... Ranch dressing with fresh mixed romaine greens: Excellent and fresh salad served with fresh baby tomatoes, garbanzo beans, homemade croutons and crisp slices of cucumber. Love their ranch dressing not so much their blue cheese however and I adore great blue..... I have every intention of returning to Eggies as I have yet to try their breakfasts but no more burgers as gross doesn't even begin to cover it....

Had a great breakfast very simple. Their pancakes are good and their regular breakfast plates come with huge portions. You don't have to wait long before your served and our waitress was friendly. I wish they would wear name tags so I can address her properly instead of saying excuse me can I have more coffee.

This place is conveniently located by my apartment and great for breakfast. The food is delicious. It's very old school and homey inside the restaurant which is cool. The reason why I'm only giving it 3 stars is because the service is pretty shit. The waiters just constantly walk past customers as if they are not standing there waiting to be seated. Could take you about 10 to 15 minutes just for them to notice you. It takes so long for them to get your order and not to mention the ridiculously long wait to get the food. All in all, good food, shitty service.

After a return visit to Eggie's last week, I found my high expectations left over from previous visits were not really met. This used to be a really good breakfast spot. One of my absolute favorites, actually but they seem to be coasting now. The food was terribly bland, and the crab Benedict was way too reminiscent of crab that has been sitting in the fridge about a day longer than it should have. Not enough to make you sick, but enough to pretty much ruin the dish. The service is friendly and efficient, but I found it odd that the server told us (and everyone else who came in) about Groupons and other deals they might want to use. Last time I tried to use a coupon I was told it would not be accepted because it was a holiday (the Sunday before Columbus day). I think I may be done with Eggie's, much to my chagrin.

I always get the hash cooked extra crispy with eggs over hard. This is the best place to get hash. I've had hash in Texas, Hawaii, California, and Japan (but that doesn't count). The waitresses are great because they've been there a long time and you feel kind of like family. I've only been going there three years but you'll feel very welcome when you go there. If you're A Lonewolf and going Solo you can eat at the counter.

Meh. I wanted to fall in love. I adore the old crappy vinyl booths and dingy 70s feel. Sadly, the greeter looked like she squeezed herself into her baby sister's T shirt, the waitress was brusque and forgetful, and the food was just...ok. Also, I heard a woman making a complaint to the manager while we were there and the manager was borderline rude to the woman. Not too impressive. The food was OK. The onions on my bland hash browns were burnt. They forgot the gravy on my omlette, but once they brought it I forgot it too as It had no flavor. I am being dead serious...the BEST part of the meal was the english muffin. It was absolutely perfect. I don't know why, but it was the best english muffin of my life. One star up there for the muffin, one for the decor and one for large portions. Without a groupon, I'd never go back. Even with a groupon I probably won't be heading back.

Enjoyed the Green Chili Pork breakfast burrito upon a server's strong recommendation. Delicious! Huge entrée with plenty of fixin's and a heap of homefries. Cinco de mayo started off with a breakfast bang! -But I'm sure it's just as satisfying any other day of the year.

Pretty chill lil spot. We tried IHOP down the way first but there was a 25 minute wait with a load of people looking discouraged in front of us. Eggies?? No wait, bonus! Cool little diner place, typical food except that most/al the egg dishes were one egg more than normal. All omelettes were 4 eggers, other "specialty" dishes were all 3 eggs. Reasonably priced, though. I had the corned beef hash, which, is my usual go-to item when eating breakfast out. It was quite large, 3 eggs, mount of spuds and CB. My only issue, and this cost 1 star, is that the dish was way too salty. CB by nature is salty, but, the cook must have added salt, which in my book, is a no-no. The coffee was also weak, but, unless I am eating at a fine dining restaurant, I don't expect great coffee. I'd be back, but, I would inquire about the salt first. Extra salt on my meat is no bueno. Ya feel me?

I found this place on groupon and I'm so glad I did! I've been here a few times now and cannot get away from their pork chops and eggs (southern style) breakfast. If you order this, make sure to ask for less salt because one time I ordered it and it was pretty salty. This time I asked for less salt and it was perfect. The fresh corned beef hash was excellent (this dish makes great leftovers too!) My eggs were cooked perfectly and the hash browns were not bad, but could be a little crispier. You can also order some of the dishes a la carte even though it's not on the menu. The service was great...friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

Really good coffee! Lots of food! I ordered a 3 meat omelet with jack cheese. DUUUDE! They packed it hella full of meat and cheese!! It was a monster meat omelet! They serve huge homemade biscuits for a 60 cent upgrade. I also ordered a side of country gravy for only 60 cents. This was a massive meal! I'm going to get another full meal out of this, maybe even 2 more. This is a diner to get your grub on! The place was packed when I got there, but they worked hard on opening up tables so the wait was only a few minutes. This is a good place to eat if you're in the area, or not in the area, we drove from West Sacramento to try it with a Groupon.

Came here for my mom's birthday was excited to find a Groupon, I showed it to my server jose he seems unhappy about it. He took our order our food came out quickly which was good. The food was all bland no seasoning or salt on anything my waffle tasted old and chewy, I asked for my bacon a bit crispy so they burned it. My mom's food was also bland the pancakes were soggy. The worst part was as soon as they dropped my food he left the tab there for me, and my server never came back well not until I was about to leave and only to basically run and take my money out of my hand. Needless to say will never be back

This place is a wonderful old school breakfast place. Average age of customers is in the mid 60's so don't worry about a rowdy crowd. I ordered the chicken fried steak and added gravy for 70cents. PLENTY of food and lots of left overs. The food quality is high enough where no one will complain however it is nothing to write home about or will make you over eat...Which is a bummer because it looks like and could be that type of restaurant. The hash browns were cooked but not golden brown... Neither were my friends. The highlight of my visit was our waitress Casey. She was very friendly, greeted us with a smile and had no problem helping me decide my order. She checked in with us regularly and made us feel very welcome. I will be back again but probably won't go out of my way to tell friends about it.

We went there this morning at 7:30am. I had the calif benedict, my bf had the breakfast special and another friend had the eggs scramble with various substitutions. The service was excellent, the hollandaise just a little bland but very fresh, the benedict, scramble and special were all completely finished. The bacon, even if well done, wasn't very crispy, which makes me wonder if it was precooked, but the taste was great. All in all, quality to quantity of food and pleasant service deserves a 3.8-4 star rating. We are all foodies, and for a diner, it was an authentic and positive experience. 3 coffees plus 3 meals w price range $12-$15; total bill $51. Will definitely return.

Best breakfast in town isn't here. Walking in I was assaulted with the smell of burnt toast. This should have been my first indication to leave. We were seated with out menus and waited for 10 mins. A brief look around reveals damaged seats, older booths and a look of an old coffee shop. It had an odd charm that held me to my spot. I was excited to see what a restaurant sporting the subtitle of best breakfast in town could do. The food came fast... Almost too fast. Eggies isn't able to make a decent over hard egg. My initial order was over easy with runny whites. I didnt know that was even possible. The order of my date's was also running and his was sunny side up. Runny whites. After explaining what I was presented with the waitress ordered a new set of eggs for me. I stated again that I wanted over hard. She placed the order for over medium. Sigh and my eggs came out over extra easy. Runny everything. I explained that again these are incorrect and she suggested I ask for my eggs basted next time. The rest of the food was horribly bland. Chili verde con huevos, the b&g special, and a milkshake. The pork was dry, the tortillas hard and stale, the biscuits were very tough, the gravy was like glue, and the milkshake may as well have been chocolate milk. The best thing to come from all this was I got a 20% off due to the eggs. But that won't be enough to have me return.

Amazing breakfast, so glad I found this place... Thanks to Groupon! Portions are huge, food is great tasting and it's inexpensive.

First time eating there and everything was great. I had the Mexican Omolett and the hash browns and my wife had the pumpkin pancakes with the cinnamon apple topping. Both were DELICIOUS. Didn't want to stop eating but our stomachs said No More. Its a family run business and the wait staff all seemed very close and very friendly. We THOROUGHLY enjoyed our breakfast there and have quite possibly found our new go to spot for breakfast. We'll definitely be going back.

I love this place. When my parents are in town, we go here. Classic breakfasts. Like a mom and pop place. And "south of the border" meals like chorizo and papas. Service is quick and excellent. Place is always busy during the weekends. Morning weekends :) I would recommend this place. Yummers.

The service was quick and friendly. The food tasted great. The corned beef hash could have used more corned beef than hash, though, because all I tasted were potatoes. The French toast and waffles were fantastic. The French toast was nice and soft on the inside, and tasted fantastic. The waffle was crispy and did not come out all soggy. The eggs came out exactly as each person in our party had ordered them.

Probably won't be back again. I had higher expectations of the eggs Benedict. The customer service was very good though.

A Groupon brought us to this establishment otherwise would have never known about it; and believe me we wish we never did. The food was terrible and the service even worse. First off, we had to ask the waitress three times to bring us our coffee and when she did it had a burnt taste that everyone so desires. The clam chowder tasted as if it were from a can and the corned beef sandwich had no mayo or mustard on it. Who doesn't love a dried up sandwich? The place is old and dilapidated in need of a serious update. Won't ever be going back!

Local gem! We're still new to the Sacramento area. Hubs found this awesome Groupon deal. I love a good brunch date! Parking during the busy hours can be a little tricky. It's a small parking lot! It's nice when you go to a new place and it's packed. I wasn't annoyed at all, but excited instead. All these people love this diner?! Amazing! Must be good, and it was!! Regular old breakfast/brunch items on the menu. At these kind of places I like to get Eggs Benedict. This one came with bacon and avocado. YUM!! Really loved it. Hubs ordered a basic eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. We upgraded the pancakes to try their pumpkin pancakes. We didn't really takes the pumpkin, but the pancakes were still good. With or without the Groupon, we would come back. I want to try their omelettes next.

Had a groupon for Eggies and figured today was the day to use it... We have been looking for another good breakfast place in Sac besides Taylor's Kitchen. Unfortunately, our journey must continue. Don't get me wrong...the food was decent...your basic breakfast fare...maybe a slight tick above IHOP. What really got to me was the cleanliness. Our server was cleaning ketchup bottles from the tables with a dirty towel. She then proceeded to grab a bowl with her unwashed hand (with her fingers inside of the bowl) and handed it to the cook. The cook then proceeded to fill that bowl with fruit and ta-da! It was served to our table. GROSS. I didn't see anyone wash their hands at least once...It got to the point where I just turned my head towards the parking lot so I couldn't see anything else. We ordered pancakes, sausage, and eggs. The highlight of the meal were the pancakes...I ordered pumpkin while wifey ordered chocolate. If you upgrade your pancakes to chocolate, it's $ .25 each pancake. I thought that was interesting...They were fluffy and cooked well. Otherwise, it was just a regular experience. I think I'll pass.

Yum, yum, yum. I very seldom go out to eat for breakfast, but after a long day of beer and wine tasting at the state fair, the next morning was a little rough. The boyfriend and I got the Groupon for this place and was not dissapointed. I got the spinach and tomato (plus avocado) benny, and the man got the kitchen sink, both were amazing. But slightly cold, hence the one star ding. Our Waitress was lovely, very talkitive, and sweet. I could tell she was new, and I have a feeling she might have forgotten about us once or twice, but hey, I remember my first few waitressing jobs... Overall, I was very happy with the place!

Just came in for the first time and mmmmmmmmm!!! I'm very impressed!! Great service, great food, huge portions, and tons of bacon in my scramble!! My fiancé loved his omelet and the country gravy too. I highly recommend this place to everyone, please help support small businesses like this one!!

Totally Underwhelmed... We went there today expecting a really good breakfast. The parking lot was full and most of the tables were taken when we got there. These were all good signs that we should be in for a treat. I ordered a "4 egg omelet". What I got was something that looked like three eggs or less. Supposed to have avocado, bacon, jack cheese, Pico de gallo and sour cream. There was nothing special about it. Very little bacon or avocado. Really disappointing. Their country potatoes were cooked with seasoning salt and we added some onions on the top, but they were also just regular or less. The onions had been burned and were really crunchy. I ordered decaf coffee and it was old. It must have been sitting on the warmer for awhile. The bacon was good. The hash browns were under cooked. The restrooms were dirty. All in all it wasn't great. Underwhelmed. Ginny Z

I came here for the first time after purchasing an $11 groupon worth $20. SInce then I have been back multiple times. They have really good breakfast, and sandwiches. Ive never had the burgers, but im sure there good too. This place is only open until like 2:30 so its only a breakfast and lunch spot. It is fairly priced, for the large portions you get. Its not a fancy place at all, but the service is good and the food is great! Definitely worth trying if your in the area.

I like this place. Remind me of a little cafe where I was born. Eggies is the Arden Arcade version of a little pho restaurant oversea somewhere. I have great intention to frequent this establishment often.

My family & I have went for breakfast a few times. Always busy & for being so crowded the services is good, our server took our order, refilled my coffee and the food came pretty fast, I've gone to many places with way less customers and the service was so slow. And the food is good, we've been happy with the food & service every time.. Definitely one of our fav breakfast places

First time here. Place looks like its been here a while when you first walk in. Nothing to be impressed with but the food is a different story. I got the Chorizo con Papas and it was excellent. My girlfriend got the walnut waffle and it also looked delicious! If your looking for just a good breakfast spot this is the place to go. Cheap and tasty!

I've come to this restaurant several times and I'm surprised I've never done a review. Luckily it is never too late. I went in today with a friend. The parking lot is compact and the weekends are busy here so you may have to wait for a park or get lucky with the few street parking. The first thing I noticed is that they got rid of the old wall paper that was falling off the wall. I'm super excited about that because the last time I was in it was distracting. I believe I ordered the ultimate breakfast which is two eggs, meat, hashbrowns, and pancakes, or waffle, or French toast. I am never disappointed in the food. I almost cleaned my plate. Our bill came up to $29.11 for two breakfast combinations and two glasses of Orange juice. If I did not have to go to the restroom I would have given this restaurant 4 stars. Before I left I went to the restroom and needed to wait in the small hallway for it to become vacant. The smell in the hallway made my stomach turn. It was a sour smell. If I had went to the restroom before eating I probably would not have been able to eat. The next time I will make sure I don't drink anything while I'm there.

First time here today. Food was excellent. Portion size was awesome especially for breakfast. Will come back again for sure. Wait staff was super nice and accommodating.. Only problem was the parking situation.. For as busy as the place can get, there should be additional parking options.

We live in South Sacramento and belong to Celebration Church in Auburn, Ca. We stop at Country Gables for breakfast on our way to church every chance we get, the staff is very professional and extremely friendly. They are very good at keeping your coffee cup filled and the cooks know how to cook a great meal, they even have outdoor seating in good weather. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Granted it was crowded, three parties (with the same amount of patrons) got their food before us, even though we had ordered before they walked in. Our sever gave more attention to the tables surrounding us even after we asked multiple times for silverware, water and our food. When our food eventually came out, it wasn't even hot - thanks for trying to keep me from burning my mouth but I will take the risk. I mean, when Denny's has better customer service and more flavorful food, yikes.

First thing: Came with a party of 3. Waited to be seated like normal customers. A table of two comes in, they seat them down first. In a table that can seat four. How rude? I work at a restaurant and it's first come first serve. If there is a table for four and a party of three waiting first I would sit a party of two before them? I understand they are busy, but that right there just made no sense. Okay so enough about the service. The inside smelled funky. Like they used old towels that weren't sanitized to clean the tables. So now we get our food in this run down establishment where the puke green carpets smell of musty old people and the cracked pink plush chairs stick to my skin. About the food? Just as run down as the establishment. I could make it at home. I went for the eggs benedict sans the pork sub avocado and the sauce was so thick. Like the consistency was of slime. They shldnt charge 10 bucks for the crap. Good thing we got a groupon. The water cups were also dirty the water tasted like sink water. That is why I am giving this place 2 stars.

    (2)
  • Erin N.

Bad service and bad food. I ordered the crab benedict and the crab had a fishy taste (which means it's spoiled), the eggs were overcooked, and the English muffin was burnt. The worst benedict ever.

This place was hopping on Sunday morning but we were seated immediately. This funky 60's looking diner was quite busy and loud. Surveying the crowd it looked like this place has alot of regular customers. We tried the following items: Pork chops and eggs: 2 pork loin chops breaded and deep fried served with hash browns, toats, two eggs and country gravy for $10.99. The pork chops were tasty but a little bit tough. Black Oak in Vacaville really sets the standard for deep fried pork chops, but these were still good. The country gravy is served in a ramakin for those who dont like to mix their food. Fruit Basket French Toast Combo: 2 pieces of traditional french toast buried under: strawberries, grapes, cantalope, bananas and whipped cream. The french toast got a little soggy from the mountain of toppings but it was still OK. The combo added a slice of ham for an extra $3 not worth the additional charge. The standard fruit basket is a mere $6.49 Kids Chocolate chip pancake meal: 2 pancakes with a ton of chocolate chips, 1 egg, bacon and a drink $4.99. This was a steal, the pancakes tasted like warm chocolate chip cookies and the hot chocolate was YUM. French Vanilla Cappucino $2.75 a delicous frothy coffee covered with a whipped cream top. Coffee: average coffee. Despite a small snafu with our check the service was friendly and good if not a little bit absent minded. Overall this is a really good breakfast spot and we intend on returning to sample more of the menu.

My brother and I found this place on accident. Waiting for my car to be fix down the street at Volvo. The service was great the food amazing. The only down side i saw to Eggies was the size of the restaurant, it's so packed with returning customers. Bigger place and i'll give it a five star rating!

My boyfriend and I went there for breakfast on my last day of my trip to sac to visit him. I regret not going there before then. In fact he himself had never been there and he lives right down the road. I got the big breakfast, which came with eggs, sausage links, hash browns, and French toast. It wasn't even the biggest breakfast they had and I was no where close to finishing it. It was delicious! I'm not a huge fan of French toast but theirs is so good I almost couldn't stop eating it. My boyfriend got the country scramble and he loved it! Will definitely be returning on my next visit to sac. We decided as soon as we got to the car on my next visit we would eat there for breakfast every chance we got! It was soo good! It you're in sac I definitely recommend this place. Large portion sizes and a homey country feel to it, which I personally loved since I'm from Tennessee.

Food was good till I found a long hair embedded in my potatoes. I told the waitress, she apologized and had the cook make a new plate. My appetite was lost at this point. This was my first time there and it will be my LAST. Service was good but it doesn't make up for the hair I found.

Great diner atmosphere! The food is always served in big portions. It tastes like home cooked food. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because my home fries were a little over done to the point of being almost burnt. Other than that, the food is always great.

After my first experience at Eggie's, I don't know if I'll ever return. I went there to use my Groupon coupon with my Mom. First, I was disappointed at what a dump this place is inside. Some people find it charming but I felt like this is a place that sorely needs remodeling, it doesn't 'feel' clean in there. Our service was fine but, it took a long time to get our food after we ordered. A family that ordered just before we did got their food 10 minutes before we did. And, as we continued to wait, a guy came in and he got his order before we did. This was our first visit and my Mom took a long time to decide what she wanted; maybe the waitress was irked after having to come back several times before we were ready to order. The Food; I'm not a food snob and I'm not immune to the pleasures of high-carb grease cuisine. My chicken fried steak was good, my impression is that it was actually cooked from scratch but even so, it wasn't particularly tasty. My hash browns, my toast, and my mother's sandwich were all sort of burnt. Maybe that's a stylistic choice they make here, I can't imagine the cook, was only cooking 3 or 4 orders was so busy he accidentally burnt our food, if that's the case what happens when the place is really packed? I appreciate the generous portions and the homemade quality of the food but, for $15 a person, I think you can do a lot better.

Good breakfast. The corned beef hash is real, not the processed or canned junk I have been served at other restaurants. The biscuits and gravy were also tasty. I grew up on homemade biscuits and gravy and I believe you can tell a good place to eat my their biscuits and gravy. Eggies were not greasy nor to runny. Biscuits were like Bisquick biscuits and were tasty. I will to here again.

You ever watch Restaurant Impossible? I can't help but to think this place needs to be on that show. The thing tho is that it is busy and seems profitable. The good- Fairly cheap. Good breakfast and lunch options. The food, for the most part, is good. The bad- This place is from the 70's and nothing has been done since then to make it nicer. In need of a major overhaul. The cleanliness is questionable, from the creamer that stays in a opened container that isn't clean, to the black soot around everything that hangs from the ceiling. And why are the dirty dishes piled up in the dining area? Take that stuff to the back! The house salad consists of: Chic peas Three mini tomatoes Three small slices of cucumber A smidge of dressing Lettuce ..pretty sad!

Waited long time for food. Was ignored multiple times. Took over an hour for our food when it was sitting in the window. Never received an apology or even acknowledgement for the terrible service. If it wasn't for Betty (thanks Betty) we wouldn't have gotten our food, or check. April (our server) ... AWFUL!

Been coming here off and on for maybe 20 years. I love the diner feel, the food the whole sha-bang. So it breaks my heart to bitch a little about something I experienced today. Like most diners Eggies has a kids menu and a weekday menu for the regular working folks on Monday-Friday that has offerings that aren't as expensive as their weekend 10-15 per plate. So today I wandered in with my family for Breakfast I noticed that only the older single folks were given the menu with the specials in it. In fact, they were not even handing out the kids menu. I saw several families that ordered from the expensive menu for their kids and were told "We don't have a Kids Menu." When I asked for it, they tried the same thing. When I told them I know that you do, the middle aged waitress got cranky with me and told me that they save it for special customers and was irritated when she brought it over. She tossed it at my kid and that was the last time she was at my table. She obviously sent over a younger waitress to deal with us for whatever reason. I asked to talk to the older woman who has been there for years and years and I politely explained the situation. She was beside herself and apologized profusely. I had thought she was "in charge" but she seemed to have no power to do anything. So, it seems that this good diner currently has no floor manager that will treat paying customers like they matter and not cash cows. If anyone from this establishment actually cares, I have dates and names because that kind of customer service for this respectable diner is bullshit. I want them to stay in business because I like their food, however I will not be back and you probably shouldn't either until they fix that idiot waitress' attitude 'cause you know it's gonna kill them, especially with all the competition on Fulton that treat their customers like they give a shit.

Second time here, first experience was better than the second time around. The corn beef hash is really good and they give big portions of it. The waffles were not crispy at all and the waitress wasn't as attentive as last time, but they are all still nice. I waited for a coffee refill for a while and never got the water I asked for. Overall, it's just your average typical diner.

There's a sadness to how close to perfect Eggies is. It's a very cool restaurant, but not quite perfect. It's in a cool old mid-century diner building, their food is very decent (the eggs & chorizo is mind-blowing) and they're in a cool location, but they're only open for breakfast and the place just looks like no one has taken care of it in decades. If someone were to clean it up and if it were 24 hours, I'd give it 5 stars, but as is, it's still pretty amazing.

  • Summer M.

Eggies is yummies! When I saw it on Yelp, I was like "A breakfast diner, a few blocks from where I used to live on Fulton? Uh, I would've remembered a place called Eggies." Apparently they're *just* obscure enough on Fulton because lo-n-behold we found them and proceeded to have a kick@ss breakfast. Sat down, got our drinks and our orders taken quickly. (I was pleasantly surprised when the waitress asked if I wanted onions on my hashbrowns, I had never heard of that combo before.) I got the chorizo con huevos and J got the huevos rancheros. I tend to measure a restaurant by their chorizo, and my chorizo con huevos was delicious... comparable to El Novillero's chorizo. My onioned hashbrowns blew my mind. I don't love hashbrowns but they come with most breakfasts... these are the first hashbrowns I'd come back for. J loved huevos rancheros and that his side order of jalapenos was fresh, not pickled. Eggies, you now have 2 more regular weekend breakfast warriors.

  • J S.

The food was good but the service was just terrible. My server was an older lady who ignored me and wouldn't look at me the entire time she waited on me; she was preoccupied by a conversation with a coworker. I don't care how good the food is, if you can't treat me like a human being, I'm not coming back.

I eat pretty much the same breakfast every time I go out; chopped ham and scrambled eggs, hash browns and dry rye toast....I've eaten that breakfast all across the country and certainly all over Sacramento...here's the thing, Eggies is the best. Beautiful creamy scrambled eggs just loaded with ham, crispy hash browns and....they remembered not to butter my toast....the service was fantastic. 20% of our bill was $4.80, we left an $8.00 tip....that's how much we liked it. I dig the 70's décor and I dig the huge portions. Coffee is only OK I'm ready to go back anytime!

  • Steve L.

What to order at a restaurant called Eggie's? I went with a Full House Scramble - eggs with cheddar and jack cheese, sausage, ham and bacon; along with hash browns and wheat toast. It wasn't cheap--14 bucks with coffee--but it was a hearty breakfast and I appreciated the opportunity to support a locally-owned joint. If you're middle-aged and wish to feel young again, this is the place. Lots of elderly regulars here. It makes for a nice, friendly vibe.

Was a little skeptical about this old folk collecting diner but long run it was quite tasty. I was very happy with my meal and was able to get in an out in time for work. My boyfriend and I don't often go out and about for a breakfast catch but when I do this place is always a delight.

This place is one of the best I have ever eaten at. Looks are deceiving but once you take a bite into your food they will have you coming back for more. Not to mention how pleasant the waitresses are. It is always a good experience when I come here.

  • Michael B.

I rarely post reviews, and almost never 5 stars, but this place deserves it. This is by far the best breakfast I've had in a long time. Now homey small town feel. Friends and I came in from out of town for a card tournament, saw the reviews near by on here and headed over. Waiter was amazing. I can't believe how quick he was with refills and checking on us. 3 of us got the corned beef hash, 1 chops and eggs. Huge portions. Great quality. Will be back here every time I'm in the area.

I think eating here two days in a row warrants an update on my previous review and an additional star! Eggies is definitely our neighborhood go-to spot for a weekend breakfast. It's better than all the average diners in the Arden area (and there are plenty to compare to). They've expanded the menu slightly to include a few more Mexican-inspired dishes, and still have a great selection of omelets, scrambles, pancakes/waffles, and meats. I also noticed a small increase in prices too. It's ok...it's worth it! My bf loves the ribeye steak ($17) because it's a nice piece of meat (that's what SHE said last night) and they CHARBROIL it so it's got the beautiful grill marks and more importantly that grilled flavor. Every other joint fries their steak on the flat griddle (alongside your pancakes and hashbrowns). Ha! Not the same! You do have to pay a big price for the ribeye, but it is soooo good. I had the chicken fried steak, and wow, was it delicious. Just like their pork chops (mentioned in my original review), it was lightly breaded, well seasoned, and perfectly-meaning not greasy- fried, served with a cup of their country sausage gravy. I decided to switch it up from my usual hashbrowns to the home potatoes, and so glad I did. Best potatoes ever! Crispy on the outside, tender inside, and not greasy and not dry. The next day I ordered a "scramble" with chicken apple sausage, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and jack cheese. It was good but the bits of sausage were a little burnt. Potatoes were just as delicious as the day before. My bf ordered the pancake combo plate ("pancake sandwich") and asked for blueberry pancakes instead. When we got our food, he had already added the butter, syrup, and cut them up into bite sized pieces when he realized that they were plain pancakes. He still ate them and we let our server know, who just took off the extra 75 cent added charge. So no big deal. I love Eggies, and I love all the seasoned staff who work there. The place can get busy but they still manage to provide some good service. Chances of eating here 3 times in a week are highly likely. I just bought another Groupon!

  • Joye M.

There really is no better breakfast in Sacramento! Their pancakes are amazing! I normally get the Ultimate Breakfast and switch it up between Country Fried Steak and Sausage and I always get a side of pancakes instead of toast! AMAZING! My husband swears buy their Corned Beef and their Southern Fried Pork Chops! But don't just take it from me! Go check them out!

  • Monica B.

This is a great place for families! Very affordable and they have a groupon. I've never had bad customer service! The parking lot can get very crowded. Just tried the Mexican 4 egg. OMG it was on point!

  • Matthew G.

This was my first time here today and I definitely was digging the vibe. They had a varied assortment of breakfast options. Obviously a lot of egg specialty options since that's their thing. They even had a seasonal menu which I wasn't expecting somewhere like that to have. The prices were reasonable and the staff was good. And the food came up super fast which impressed me. The parking lot was tiny and the restaurant itself isn't super big so I wouldn't recommend bringing a large group of people. It's definitely worth trying out if you're in the Arden area.

  • Matt C.

The waitress said "There is no such thing as a small portion here!" And she was NOT lying. Come here hungry or don't bother. The food here is super mega delicious and definitely worth the food coma you're sure to give yourself.

Walking in here is like going back to 1975. Cream colored walls & ceilings stained brown from years of use. 'Country Cottage' decor from an early '80's redo were scattered about. But the counters, booths and silverware were all clean and neat. We were greeted in a friendly manner and chose to sit at the counter to better observe the action. As this was a Saturday morning, it was packed, but the staff were all hustling and were nice. The food is typical diner fare and you get plenty of it. As we had a Groupon, the cost was much more bearable, but I can't see going back to pay their full prices. Parking is extremely limited as the lot is small and there are several signs up and down the street behind it that say 'No Parking'. Be very careful! Parking enforcement passed us twice as we were trying to find a spot to park. A good visit to be sure and one I'd hit up the morning after a big night on the town, but nothing that warrants 4 or 5 stars.

Good omelets - had a huge "the works" omelet with ham, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and cheese. Also the chicken sausage omelet with peppers and onions and egg substitute is a good healthy choice. The hash browns and home fries are both good.

went here off a recommendation. Ive heard many people say its great. Can't understand why, I got terrible heartburn, which usually means bad ingredients, from their breakfast. Kinda pricey too. If I want a local breakfast, I'll go to Cricket's

Eggies is an awesome little cafe that looks like it hasn't changed in 20 years. If you're looking for fancy foods or hip decor, steer clear. This place just does delicious breakfast foods in huge portions at inexpensive prices, all served with down home charm. Been here several times now, and all but once I've gotten the corned beef hash and eggs. I think it's about $10, and it's so much food that my wife and I split it and both leave satisfied. Plus, they use the real corned beef, not that canned garbage. The only other dish I've had was some type of chorizo and egg omelette, which was also scrumptious. They have a lunch menu as well, with lots of good looking dishes and sandwiches, but haven't tried any yet. Despite being so rad, Eggies has never made us wait. Parking lot is a bit tricky to maneuver around in, but never had any problems finding a spot. Seriously, stop reading this and go get your grub on! Eggies rocks!

I was looking for a place to eat breakfast this morning near Cal Expo so I looked up breakfast places on yelp and found Horst' review of Eggies. He seemed pretty amped on the omelets and that sounded pretty good to me. Pulling into the parking lot, I realized that I had been to this restaurant under various previous names and ownerships probably a dozen times in the last forty years. It amazed me how little it had changed over the years. It was like déjà vu. Getting out of the car, I noticing there was an empty booth (on a Sunday morning) so I rushed in and claimed the last one. Ah, life can be so damn good. The building, the furniture, and the staff seemed a little worn, but to me that only adds character. After all, this is your typical sixties breakfast style diner. Our waitress was medium friendly, efficient, and paid us just the right amount of attention. I ordered an omelet with fruit instead of hash browns and Ida ordered two fried eggs with hash browns and a side of grits. My omelet was humongous, with plenty of veggies, bacon, and cheese filling. Yes! I was satisfied. When I saw the mounds of food they served my petite little girl friend I did not know whether to be offended or what? What is with the large bowl of grits? Well; she was not offended and ate like a lumberjack. Even then she could not finish the grits. I believe she was most satisfied with her meal. The Wizard says; check it out.

Things to order Breakfast burrito - large and filled to the breaking point Chicken fried steak - large portions covered in disgustingly yummy gravy. w/ a biscuit made for Paul Bunyan. I got served by Centri, She is legit. Fills drinks up when they are empty, doesnt invade personal space, can handle multiple orders with adjustments without error and to top it off shes friendly, i am very ornery in the morning and she was able to deal with it! You cant ask for better service. Especially since soo many places in sacramento are just lacking in quality customer service. Parking is not plentiful but street parking is nearby so its not an issue. Portions are huge so expect to be full and maybe bring thanksgiving sweats. the things in my to order list were ordered by my friends & I e could not have been happier. Sure you want to take a nap after but thats a sign of great comfort food. just go and get ready to get some calories!

It's a good restaurant if you are a breakfast person. Good biscuits, gravy, they know how to cook eggs, french toast and pancakes. The coffee is not bad. Good selection for breakfast. For breakfast I'd go back. Eggies has got to be 30 plus years in business at this location.

My tastebuds were bored.... I know this is a very well established breaky spot in Sac, but nothing about it tickled my fancy :( I chose the Garden Omlet, which wasn't bad, but it wasn't memorable. The veggies were pretty fresh, but it lacked any other flavor. Garlic, NO! Peper, NO! Salt, NO! Add a little Ketchup and I was okay. The hash browns were just as ordered, extra crispy - yet, again...lacked any memorable flavor. The portions were huge, so they get 5 stars for "bang-for-your-buck"! But don't use the restroom. They have some serious sewage problems that smell like a dead fish is stuck somewhere in the vicinity. Seriously, as an employee or owner, how can you even stand for that? It has a great grungy, local, diner feel...but is missing the good, fattening diner taste :(

Saw a cockroach. It was crawling down the side if the wall next to where I was sitting. I couldnt stop looking at it, repulsive little thing. Then i watched it crawl on to the table and under the rim of my plate. Id had enough, i was so grossed out I got up, paid for my food and left. I won't go back. My appetite is ruined.

This place is fine. It is a greasy spoon. I have only been here for breakfast and the food is cheap and ok. It is a very traditional menu of eggs, omelets, and a few Mexican inspired items. Do not go excepting anything fancy like creme fraiche or garnishes. It is a safe menu that makes it a good place to take my less adventurous relatives. Nothing will be amazing but nothing will be bad either. The service is efficient. The staff is friendly in their own way but seem to be taking the role of a stereotypical brusk diner waitress very seriously. The decor is very old fashion and worn. Everything has a rather tired look but it is clean. However, it seems to have a very loyal customer base and obviously appeals to their tastes.

There are few places in Sacramento that you can get an expertly crafted Eggs Benedict. Many attempt, but lack the attention to detail it takes to cook this dish to perfection. I tip my hat to the chef here, I have been twice now, and the Benedict was consistently amazing. Not only do they have great food though, the service was spectacular. Our waitress was courteous, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. When one of our party couldn't decide between a few options, she even offered to bring out a side of the hollandaise sauce for us to taste. Which was, indescribably scrumptious. I may or may not have completely licked my plate clean. Mmmm.

Basic egg and potato neighborhood diner. They have a friendly staff, basic breakfast food and unlimited coffee. The place is old and unique but is a great place for a no fuss breakfast.

I'm going to rate this on how my service was from my waitress and on the food they served. I say that because the greeter was so absolutely rude to my wife and kids when walking in we almost walked out. As far as the service from my waitress it was superb she made sure to check on our table a lot but not to the point of being over bearing. She interacted with the kids and had a great personality. The food was delicious and very filling. My kids loved there pancakes and bacon which was 4.95 a plate I believe so not bad. My wife ordered a all American with French toast and she really enjoyed it a lot especially the ham and French toast. Her home fries looked so good I had to try them and they were really good also. I ordered a full house omelette and it was incredible. It's huge (they use 4 eggs) and it was only like $10.95 so I was happy and my hash browns were really good also they weren't over cooked but just right. Overall it was a good eating experience and I would reccomend them. The food didn't take long to come out either.

Great eggsperience! Haha my boyfriend and I went here on a whim when we wanted to get a breakfast/lunch... And it was sooo good! It's a super cute diner, and the host greets you right when you walk in the door which makes it super homey! The food is super good not greasy whatsoever like some diner food can be, and you get a huge portion for the price. I got the country omelette made with four eggs it was awesome and my boyfriend got the crispy chicken sandwich with fries (which were delicious!). We will definitely be back!

I want to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't in good conscience. The food is egg-cellent! I'm a big, big fan of the "make your own" omlette option, and the home fries are awesome - even better than the hashbrowns, in my opinion. I have to knock off 1 star for the dumpiness of the joint. The ceiling looks slightly water damaged, and in general, the furniture and decor seems run down. This doesn't bother me too much because it's a greasy breakfast joint, and this kind of run down dumpiness usually goes hand in hand with a delicious breakfast spot. Still, I can't give it 5 whole stars. Also, if you have never been here, you could easily drive past it. The sign is subtle, and you couldn't see it at all if you're coming from the south. If you are heading north on Fulton and pass Arden, you've gone too far, but Eggies is worth a u-turn.

Solid breakfast spot with great service. The inside is your typical diner with one long counter, booths, and tables. I ordered one of Eggie's signature dishes - corned beef hash with three eggs and toast (I forgot what they named it). The beef and hash were legit! Generous portions and the corned beef wasn't from a can. There was so much on the menu that it was hard to decide what to get. The prices are reasonable and there were even weekday breakfast deals.

I expected Eggies to be a lot better than it was based on the positive reviews I read. It wasn't terrible but it was nothing special. Kind of like a Waffle House or Denny's... The place is pretty dingy and old. Not a problem if the food is awesome. It wasn't. My omelette was dry and overcooked. The biscuits were OK. They didn't have much flavor and were also a little dry. Overall, a disappointment. Back to searching for the perfect breakfast place.

Eggies is everything they are cracked up to be. Good food at great prices, lots of room and no pressure to eat and run like so many other breakfast joints. They aren't exactly modern, but that's not what I look for in a diner. Parking is cramped but tables are not. Portion sizes are hearty. They have dirt cheap specials on weekdays. I tried it on a Groupon, and I will defiantly go back.

This place is cute. It's an old fashioned diner and you can tell everything is a little bit used. I went here one morning craving that old fashioned diner feel. The waitresses here were very sweet and made you feel at home. Gotta love that. The food, wasn't bad and wasn't great. Its a good place to go when you just want a plain ole' simple breakfast.

This place is a dive... Older waitress has selective hearing.... Greasy food. Very bland in taste. Counter has newspapers on it, looks like an unkept appt. Counters look like the haven't been wiped down in months. Stay away!!!

Great food, location and friendly staff. You're stepping into an old school diner which I love, the smell of eggs frying and breakfast hits you when you walk in and before you know it its well settled into you clothes (note don't go to an event after, you'll have to change your clothes). The portions are really big so if you're not starving I recommend sharing. I shared an omelette with hash browns which was served up quickly and the food was delicious. The was no additional fee for splitting a plate and the staff is really friendly. I also ordered their vanilla latte, nothing fancy. They didn't make a fresh one but rather it was from a machine where you press a button like at AMPM and it added to the whole old school diner vibe. I also ordered the pancakes to top off the meal and everything was so tasty that we almost wiped our plates clean. Altogether the bill was ~$25 for a lot of food and I can't wait to go back. Along with their tasty food everyone there is kind and friendly.

Eggies isn't a fancy brunch place but it's a pretty consistent brunch place. If you're not a fan of waiting, don't need booze with your brunch, and want large portions of breakfast food to get your through the weekend, this is your place. We've come at varying times on either Saturday or Sunday and have never had to wait, even though the parking lot was full. We always receive great service and good food. I love the make your own omelet. Who doesn't love adding cream cheese to an omelet? Yes, please! I know we'll keep coming back when we just want a great breakfast with no fuss.

I had the full house omelet with fries (they're country fried potatoes) and if I had a dad joke to describe it, it would be an "eggsellent omnomelet!" Ehhhhhhhh??? Anyway, I had enough for dinner later that day. Other than that, the service was great, although no one else I was with ordered an omelet and their orders looked kind of bland. My friend got a waffle and she said it tasted like a sad pancake (it sort of looked like one, too).

I have been coming to Eggies for a long time. They are my favorite breakfast spot hands down. The food is no frills down home comfort food. Today I decided to sit at the counter, because i was dining solo. The choice of seating was perfect inspiration for this review. Being able to watch the staff prepare and serve food made me realize how hard these ladies and gentlemen work. Moving around each other and working like a well oiled machine, they shoot out hot tasty meals from the kitchen to your stomach ! Now, I come here for breakfast a lot and enjoy it every time. Today for the first time I tried lunch, and it was yummmmm ! I had the crispy chicken sandwich, it came with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and onions, also seasoned french fries, and a bowl of soup or salad. I had one of the best bowls of chili (added cheese and onions...no charge) that I have ever had at any restaurant, and I always try chili when its on the menu. Long story short, Eggies is not only a wonderful hot comforting breakfast in your belly, but its also a fantastic spot for a delicious lunch. A quick shout out to the staff, as you make Eggies one if the best joints in Sacramento! Thank you :-)

I bought a Groupon so decided to try based on Yelp reviews. The food was sub par and the service worse. We felt ignored. There were five of us and my father was served last about 15 minutes after the rest of the table was served. We had to ask for water serveral times and had to ask for the sauce that was suppose to come with meal. By the time the server brought my mothers meal was cold. The burgers we ordered were under seasoned with limp fries and forgot to bring mayo which was low quality. Will not return. Poor value, poor quality, and worse service. It always seems that when I buy a Groupon, the meals are bad.

Pulp Fiction fans would appreciate this place. It looks and feels like the diner from the movie. I really enjoyed the homemade corn beef hash. Their biscuits and gravy looked very tempting but my stomach would have popped if I tried. I was full the rest of the day. Their huge menu covers all the breakfast favs. This is a five star place once they can accept eCoupons and upgrade their coffee. I can't stand that watered down Hills Bros. crap.

Yelpers, WTF? 4 star average for this place? I'm coming to YOUR house to use your bathroom when my breakfast there makes me sick. Just got done eating there and I feel like I need a shower. Sure, it's a greasy spoon, but that doesn't mean the booth and table need to be sticky/greasy. Or have broken counter chairs. Or coffee that tastes like someone dug old coffee filters out of the trash to reuse. The food itself wasn't terrible, though seemed expensive for the quality. Pancakes were okay, though kind of flavorless. Omelet was big, though again surprisingly bland. The potatoes were.. all together now... bland. They were nice and crispy, but I don't think they have any salt in the kitchen at all. Staff seemed out of it and not sure what was going on, either. And while I don't plan on repeating business there, I'm pretty sure their food is about to repeat on me.

Imagine Dennys and IHop had a baby. Now imagine that baby went on steroids. That is what Eggies is: heart attack served on a giant plate. Seems the qualifications for waitressing include being over 55 years old. Couldn't really complain about the service, food came out relatively quick. I like that there is a neighborhood hole in the wall amongst the many chain restaurants in Arden. I just wish there were some healthier options. Why just 3 stars? I have a special place in my heart for IHOP pancakes, but otherwise the non-pancake items here are better and probably equal or greater in calories.

Good grub, good service, good times. You're guaranteed to get a solid meal here and leave with a full stomach. I can't speak for anything other than breakfast, but I have never been disappointed with anything I've ordered, from pancakes to a breakfast burrito to one of the many scrambles. Plus they have a pretty good kid's meal. The coffee isn't great, but at least they keep it flowing.

This is your run of the mill diner. Nothing fancy, but the menu had a nice selection of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Whatever you're in the mood for they probably serve it. We had breakfast here. I ordered my usual 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, wheat toast and a side of grits, plus orange juice. Everything was very good. They give you a large serving of grits! It was like a meal in itself! I couldn't finish it and ended up getting the rest to go. Our server was pleasant and on the ball. Our food was satisfying, and started our day with a full belly and a pleasant, relaxing afternoon! On the negative side, the bathroom needs remodeling and had a mildewy smell. Wasn't the best way to end the meal! But if you gotta go, you gotta go!

Blows Crepeville out of the water! Home fries so crispy with grilled onions; eggs perfectly cooked; inventive plates! Delicious! I had the triple chili omelet. Portion so large I couldn't finish it. Fiancé had the break"feast" and enjoyed every bite. We'll be back again and again.

I haven't been here in a bit, but back in our college times, it was our hangover go to spot. Its a bit divey, trucker feeling, but thats the charm to it. The place gets really busy, so be prepared to wait. It just shows how awesome this little diner really is.

Had the Mexican scramble with tortillas and hash browns. The portions were large but the food was just ok. Service was great. Coffee refills many times even though the place was crowded and they were friendly.

A breakfast place should be able to provide crisp hashbrowns and over easy eggs. Whe my food arrived, eggs were overcooked and hashbrowns looked like they came directly from the freezer. And forget sending your food back...It's been a half An hour and I'm still waiting. Very disappointed.

Yay. If you have ever wondered where you could find a twenty four pound plate of omelette, served to you by a centurion, accompanied by a cup of burnt folgers and surrounded by the salt of the earth; wonder no more. Eggies is the only place to eat after a night of binge drinking. The decor is gramma's house meets greasy spoon. The wait staff are lifers. The coffee is weak and burnt. The food is HUGE, as is the menu. It's perfect. It's everything I want in a breakfast and everything I don't want in a dinner.

In this episode of Entertainment Book roulette: Eggie's. After eating at Eggie's, I felt myself slipping into a coma. It's probably why I was the first to bust out of the poker tournament I entered a half hour later. Yeah, I'll go with that. We took at least 15 minutes to browse the extensive menu. It was almost too much to comprehend. I decided on the Country Scramble; in the meantime, I was utterly fascinated by what had just come out of the kitchen: a veritable MOUNTAIN of god knows what, atop a biscuit, covered with peppered white gravy. Me: Excuse me, what is THAT (pointing)? Waitress: Oh, it's the Country Scramble! Me: OH MY GOD. I'll have that. It was everything I expected, and more. At its base were two fluffy buttermilk biscuits...biscuits that somehow supported what seemed like 10 pounds of other ingredients...topped with spicy sausage patties and light, airy scrambled eggs underneath a blanket of thick country gravy. As if that weren't enough, it was accompanied by perfectly crisp hash browns and a side of toast. I mean, overkill. It was so much food, I almost felt bad using our twofer coup. ALMOST... Eat here!

I love meeting up with friends down on the grid for a good Sunday brunch and a nice patio (duh), but sometimes I don't want to go far from home and just need a down and dirty diner to get the job done. Enter Eggies. Perfect place for big portions of good tasting food. There are so many options on their menu no one in your party should leave disappointed. They have the standard breakfast fare but also some of their own creations. Yes the service can be slow, but its because it is always packed. Look at all of the tickets on the cooks plate (no pun intended) if you don't believe me. Once the order is up, the waitresses get them out quick. My true test of good/bad service is if my water stays full, and at Eggies it almost always does. Yes the decor is from the 70's. Go to the grid if you are looking to see and be seen. Go to Eggies if you want a good cure for your hangover.

My boyfriend and I decided to try Eggies on a spur of the moment because we found a groupon for it that morning. The service and the food was pretty good. I got the healthy french toast with an over medium egg. The egg was greasy, but that's somewhat to be expected, and he got the chorizo and eggs skillet. We were both pleased with how fast our food came out and the price when we used a groupon. Though, I'm not sure we would go here again unless we had another groupon. The distance and the price without the discount may not be worth it. But- with a group on.. sure why not!

Delicious! Went two days ago with a LivingSocial coupon. The restaurant may not seem like much on the outside, but the breakfast food really is spectacular. Waitress made it a point to mention that the corned beef hash my boyfriend ultimately ordered is made fresh--not out of a can, and it definitely tastes yummy! I had the Ultimate breakfast. Eggs done just right, chicken fried steak was super impressive (especially cuz I'm Texan, and we're picky about our chicken fried steak), hash browns weren't over-fried. French toast was legitly made too--only restaurant I've encountered where there's actually some egg wash on the toast. Cheap considering the portion sizes, which are huuuge!! We've finally found a good breakfast place in the Sac area.

I ended up here because I was in the area and I yelped on my phone and saw the good reviews for this place. Having lived in Sacramento for almost 25 years I was surprised I had never seen this place. The parking lot was full and there were lots of people but we got right in. My roommate ordered the crab benedict and I had the corned beef hash and a blueberry pancake. I can describe it in one word "FRESH". Everything we had was good and the prices were reasonable. This will definitely be a place we go in the future.

I love Eggies! My boyfriend took me here for the first time a few years ago because he's always impressed with the breakfast and he used to come here with his grandma. Very enjoyable and the staff are extremely nice and attentive. I am a fan of the veggie scramble but my boyfriend swears by the country fried steak. I dont think you can go wrong with anything you order!

I don't know if I'll be back. Ordered veggie eggs benedict. My bread was stale, the hollandaise tasted like it was from a packet and the tomato was not quite rotten but not fresh. Also the hash browns weren't crispy! I wanted to love it but it just was a miss.

There are so many good things I could say about this place. My favorite breakfast is the corned beef hash and eggs. The hash is made up of freshly chopped corned beef and is served over home fries. The coffee they serve at Eggies is my favorite restaurant coffee. The service is very friendly.

I have been here approximately 4 times. The service here is excellent. The staff is prompt, attentive, and courteous. However, the past two times I left disappointed. I regularly order Eggs Bennedict whenever I go out for breakfast. It's my favorite. And my order at Eggies was no exception. I was quite disappointed when I received my order the past two visits and discovered they are using cheese sauce rather than hollendaise on their Bennedicts. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the rest of their food since Ive never ordered anything else.

Tired of places that serve the canned-type of corned beef hash. Found my breakfast place that seves a delicious corned beef hash and eggs. Half order of fresh biscuits and gravy is more than enough food, too. Bar sitting was great, except for how far the seats are from the counter.

The classic American diner - with the counter and the waitresses that know everyone's name, they ask Ted where Bob has been and how Bill's wife is. It seems like a small town when you're inside looking out into the world. Comfortable would be the best way to describe the experience. I had the Cajun-Blackened Ribeye and Eggs. I requested it mid-rare and eggs over-easy and that's exactly what I got! The hashbrowns were crispy and there was a mound of grilled onions on top of my large slab of meat. My coffee was filled regularly with hot, tasty coffee, and every meal come with a "Big-Gulp" of ice water. Great food and service with a comfortable, small-town feel; all with some pretty fair prices.

If you're looking for a good ol' American breakfast this is the place to go! I have been here plenty of times! Great place to grab breakfast after a crazy night! The waitresses are always SO NICE! You instantly love every person who works there. The menu is varied for breakfast. I have never had lunch there so I can honestly say. Love this place though!

I love diners. This place is a diner! It's not super crowded or fancy schmancy so you can come in and enjoy the diner, too. Wikipedia defines an omelet as: An omelette or omelet is a dish made from beaten eggs quickly cooked with butter or oil in a frying pan, sometimes folded around a filling such as cheese, vegetables, meat (often ham), or some combination of the above. Eggies defines an omelet as eggs with just about anything you could think of mixed in. With a bevy of omelete choices, classic hashbrowns and the coffee that keeps on coming you're bound to leave feeling full and loved. If you want to be adventurous (as I'm considering taking this on), try every one of the omelets on the list (a pretty substantial list) and write a review on them. Subbing is easy peasy here and I got exactly what I wanted enveloped in a warm, egg blanket of happiness.

A mixed review for a mixed experience. Let's start with the pluses: +excellent blueberry pancakes ++perfect home fries AND they ask if you want onions in your home fries or not, so another plus for that +true to its name, delicious eggs! And now the not-so-greats: -iffy service. Inattentive, not even a smile. Not rude, not terrible, but not great -worst country gravy I've ever had. Seriously, it tasted like it was made with water poured through an old boot. Thankfully it was served separately, or the chicken-fried steak would have been a total loss. -pretty sure the orange juice is from concentrate. Syrupy. Other than that a man at the counter started woofing at me, but whatever, takes all kinds, right? and the proprietor(?) gabbed with her lady friends at the adjacent table about a customer getting cited for not cracking the window for his dog, and then proceeded to demonstrate her laser thermometer on customer's coffee. Good times. Since it was a mixed experience, I'll give eggies another chance. It all hinges on the linguica! (But seriously, don't get anything with the country gravy)

They literally had everything you could think of here...decent parking and really quick seating...friendly country cafe style place...the crab benedict was delish...although the hollandaise sauce was not my favorite...the crab meat tasted fresh and tasty...one of my friends got a potato scramble and it was genormous, another friend got an egg white omelette and she loved it, and my 3rd friend got a totally different dish that escapes my memory right now but she was also happy with it. Our server was friendly and attentive without hovering!

This is your standard (but still enjoyable) old-school breakfast diner. You've got your normal omelets, scrambles, pancakes, etc. It's okay food. I've had a craving to go back on occasions. But to be honest, nothing stands out. It's right smack-dab in the middle of the road. That being said, if you want an omelet, you could do far worse. Anyone in this vicinity of Eggie's really has no excuse to go to a Denny's for breakfast fare.

This is by far one of the best places to have breakfast in Sacramento. It is yummy, the service is fast, and best of all you get a lot of food for little money.

SO GOOD. Probably one of my favorite places to get breakfast in Sacramento. I came with a party of 5 and we were sat very quickly. Our waitress came over and got our drink orders right away, and then informed us if we had an entertainment book, we could use a coupon. Sweet! Thanks for saving me $10! My chicken fried steak was delicious. Potatoes perfectly cooked. My friend's over-medium eggs were just the way they were supposed to be- cooked whites, runny yolk. All in all a great experience and will be back soon!

This is a classic greasy spoon. The egg dishes are large and tasty, the make your own omelet is a great option but the menu is large and can be overwhelming at times. The lunch food (sammies, etc.) isn't their main attraction so go for breakfast food even for lunch. It can get crowded and when it does it gets pretty loud and kinda uncomfortable. The kitchen deals well with it though and the food doesn't suffer. The kind of dive atmosphere is the biggest drawback and Sunday mornings it's a real drawback at that. Food is good though not stellar, prices are very reasonable and the staff is friendly even when the place is jammed up.

Picked up a Groupon for here because of all the great Yelp reviews. I was very disappointed yesterday. First off - Do not ever sit at the table right next to the bathroom door. Each time the door opened this horrible sewer smell came flowing right to our table. Its awful when you're eating. We also had a perfect view of behind the counter. Food safety is not high on the list for them. Staff eating in food prep areas, butter just sitting with no cover on it. Floor drains needed a good scrubbing. Food was just "ok", bacon was ice cold, and had a rubber like quality to it. Hash browns overcooked, and the omelet was the same. Will not be returning to Eggie's in the near future.

I've driven past Eggies for decades. Finally decided to give it a try when S.O. said he wanted to go to the Auto Show and to get buy-in from me, suggested we go out for breakfast before the show. For a breakfast place it's not bad. Huge selection of items and large portions. Service was attentive. The food was OK. Not the best, not the worst. I had the corned beef hash. It was made with small dice corned beef and large dice potatoes. Obviously home made. A little too much fat on the beef for my taste, but better than the pureed corned beef hash you get at other places. S.O. had the eggs Benedict. He liked the thick slices of Canadian bacon. Others have mentioned the weak coffee. That's just the way I like it so I was satisfied. Eggies is not worth a special trip, but the next time he wants to go to the Auto Show at Cal Expo, I'll demand breakfast first.

We've eaten here a few times, usually bringing an entertainment coupon with us.The breakfast here is more expensive than a lot of restaurants, but the portions are huge. It's a casual diner that has lots of repeat business. The people that work there seem to always be in a good mood, smiling and talking with customers. I enjoyed the veggie omelet.

If you are hungover and starving, do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to Eggie's and be healed. Portions are generous, the gravy is thick and savory, and the biscuits are as big as a linebacker's fist. And I'll tell you what, anytime part of my order involves the waitress asking "Do you want grilled onions with that?" the answer is always YES and my affection is always earned. Instant addition to my top 3 breakfast places in Sac.

Honnestly I don't know why all these other Yelpers are complaining about "Heart Attack Waiting to Happen" If you're going to bitch n moan about that then don't go here, go somewhere else and graze on some grass. The Facts are: -This place has a small parking lot -This place has a plethora of choices for breakfast -Portions are pretty large. One plate could easily feed 2 people or one very hungry person. -Has a wide choice of omelets and breakfast items -Serves lunch -Friendly service. -Egg Substitute is available. Other Notes: Check your entertainment book they might still be in it.

I LOVE this place! I had heard about it for years, but never went. It wasn't until there was a Groupon that we went and tried Eggies. When you see the place you might think it's just another greasy spoon, nothing special, that is until you eat their food. Corned beef, that they make there, fresh biscuits, huge breakfast burritos, anything your breakfast heart can desire. The portions are really big too, so don't worry about going home hungry. On top of their delicious food their service is very good. One of my favorite service stories from going there is when I wanted to take home one of my biscuits from my biscuit and gravy breakfast. Instead of just packaging up a soggy biscuit they brought me a brand new order with gravy on the side. They are all just really nice, and I think they are enjoying all the new business they are receiving from the Groupon and the new crowd. I will continue being a regular here!

I will Never eat here again. after waiting in line to be seated, we were not seated in the next available booth that booth remained empty for almost an hour. Before a family who was related to the server and were seated immediately in spite of the line. Their food arrived before ours did when we did receive our order it was barely warm. our server was surly at best. No refills on coffee. when paying the bill I asked to speak to the manager only to discover the surly rude woman who served us lukewarm food and never bothered to check back to see if everything was okay or to bring the coffee pot by WAS the manager. Don't waste your money! Country Waffles is right down the street on Fair Oaks Blvd between Fulton and Howe. Much better food! Great service too.

I love breakfast....came here and ordered the country scramble and the corned beef hash....everything was decent. I loved my country scramble and their portions are huge! The only problem with this place was the service. I think the person who served us couldnt multitask....i had to find my own to go box and stop several people for ketchup. before we left, i noticed they had a little area with to go boxes, silverware, and condiments. If it was self served, they should have said something. Overall, food was yum, service was blah. Thank you come again....

I've worked literally around the corner from this place for almost 4 years and had never heard of it. In fact, driving to work when rain took out the possibility of hitting the driving range, I didn't believe the map when it told me there was a breakfast place here. It is just off Arden, but it is a small, non-assuming building. It's nothing to show off to friends from the outside, and the interior is rather standard diner fare as well. It looks like it has been around since the 70s, and it probably has. The bench seat I was led to was well-worn, and I had to sit just-so to not feel that I was sinking down to the floor. Prices are slightly on the high side, with most standard breakfasts running around 10 dollars and some specials in the 5-8 dollar range. I thought about ordering orange juice, but then saw the waitress bring a glass to the table next to me; it had maybe 10 ounces of juice in it. I'll grant the benefit of the doubt and assume that he had ordered a child size, but I wasn't about to bet 3 bucks on that chance. Water it is. After an average wait, my food came. I ordered the corned beef hash plate with over-easy eggs and white bread. When I ordered, I asked what jam she had and she listed off four (I think it was grape, strawberry, apricot, and marmalade). I asked for one of each. My bread showed up with one little container of unknown jam, which may have been apricot, though I can't rule out marmalade as a possibility. A minute later, she stopped by with two more unknowns. Experimentation revealed that one of them was grape. The other was grape. Oh well. As for the main course, it was very large with small cubes of corned beef which had a great texture and melted in the mouth. I love fresh corned beef, and while this was missing a little of the peppery taste I look for, it was certainly an enjoyable treat. The potatoes were delicious soft cubes of russet potatoes and there was cheese (Monterey jack, I think) melted throughout. The three eggs were placed on top of the plate, and when cut into, infused their yolky goodness throughout the plate. All in all, it was a very satisfying plate and I could only finish about 2/3 of it. My first impression is that this is a place I will definitely come back to, but only if I don't look at the sodium content in my meal. If you are in the area, this is a good choice for breakfast, but i don't think it is worth driving across town for this.

Gave this place a second chance...had the same issues as before. The service was worse this time around: waitress at the counter handed us menus and told us to seat ourselves (all while standing next to the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign) and forgot to bring water and ketchup that we asked for. As far as the food went the eggs were bland, bacon was salty and tough, sausage links were small. Everything was too expensive for the quality of food that you get. Our tab came out to $32 after leaving a 10% tip!! This place's prices are a ripoff. Farewell, Eggies. I certainly won't be back.

Good food, good location, parking isn't too bad depending on the time you go. This was our first visit and we were a group of 10. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We didn't wait too long for a table since we got there just at the end of their rush brunch hour on a Sunday morning. Just as other yelpers have mentioned, large portions with comparable prices. The food itself was good diner food. They have an extensive menu with a brunch special menu. Prices ranged from $5-$15 for a plate. this is a good local place if you're looking for places unique to the area instead of the usual IHOP and Denny's for breakfast. If ever I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be sure to stop by Eggies and have another yummy crab benedict.

When it comes to breakfast especially on the weekends, you can not beat Eggie's. They have a huge menu with ample portions and reasonable prices. It definitely gets busy on the weekends, so you might have to wait a few minutes, but it is definitely worth it. The service is fast, efficient and still remainds friendly. It definitely beats those national chain places.

No frills - but good food and quick service. A Sunday morning at 10am we were seated nearly immediately, and brought coffee and water. Once we ordered, it was mere minutes before the food was brought out. All hot, all how we ordered it, and all wonderful. We went with some out-of-town family, and we enjoyed the extensive menu with a few exotic options (shrimp & avocado eggs benedict) and all the basics (pancakes, bacon and eggs). You won't believe the portion size for the price!

My favorite breakfast spot right now. The omelettes are big enough to satisfy even the hungriest fat boy and boy are they delicious! There is a quaint charm to the severs and the food comes out fast. Nothing fancy, but if you are looking for a nice big breakfast, this is the place.

Very good food, big portions and good service but the place is so loud I couldn't hear the person next to me. I don;t think I'll be going back. The waitress even said it's always loud but if you have little kids that will be no problem and is actually pretty good for that.

I have passed this small diner several times on my errand rounds and noticed that it was always busy. Seeing that as a good sign (although here in Sacramento it has failed me before) I talked my boyfriend into taking me on a breakfast date to Eggies. We were seated right away and ordered our drinks. The waitress was really friendly, both with newbies like us and apparent regulars. Looking over the menu I could see it was pretty standard breakfast food but the special was one I had never had before - PUMPKIN PANCAKES. So that is what I ordered. My boyfriend went for an omelette or something. I really don't remember what he had, to be honest, because when my plate arrived I didn't even care what was on his! My eyes (and then my stomach) were feasting on giant, delicious, pumpkin pancakes topped with a yummy chutney and some chicken apple sausage on the side. It was sooooo good. My boyfriend devoured his [insert random breakfast food here] and I ate as much of mine as I could (hey! it was a big breakfast!). I took the rest home and had it for lunch. Man, I want some of those pumpkin pancakes now.

i seriously love this place. The people here are way friendly. They have a crap load of awesome food but i always end up getting the hobo omelette with no mushrooms. its kinda a shame this omelette is so delicious as they have so many choices of delicious foods. also, i know this is kinda random - but they make the best poached eggs in all of sacramento - not vinegary and perfectly cooked.

We are very lucky people to have friend's who live right next to the cholesterol dreamland that is Eggies. This place is amazing for a big, hearty, tasty breakfast! I've only been to Eggies a few times, but I've never been disappointed in the food and my circle of friends in Sacrament eats here all the time. The last time we stopped in I had the omelette that came with country gravy and slathered that stuff on everything I could. The breakfast potatoes are always satisfying, and their coffee has gotten much better. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends if you're coming in for breakfast or brunch, but stick around because it's well worth it. I've had lunch here too, and the sandwiches are pretty good, french fries crispy, and service just as friendly as Sunday morning. Bottom line: Everything you could want in a diner. I'll continue to come back!

When looking for a good greasy breakfast place I LOVE THIS PLACE! WIth many different Benedicts Omelettes and other breakfasts choices I love it! They have lunch too but I go here for Bkfast! The Corned Beef hash is AMAZING! FRESH in house made, not the canned dog food lookin thing! I always get the California benedict with tomato avocado n bacon plus the poached egg of course. They put tons of bacon on it, to the point I can't finish it! Side of hash browns and ask for grilled onions in it... if you like The biscuits n gravy are good too

I have been coming to Eggie's on and off for years. Finally writing a review after going in today for breakfast. The glass of ice water they brought me had stuff floating in it. When they brought me a second glass to replace the first, there was a hair on the side of the glass. One of my all time favorite omelets was the "Big Ben". They apparently don't have british banger sausages on the menu anymore. So, I ordered the "Apple Jack" omelet- chicken apple sausage, mushrooms and monterey jack cheese. It came with a plethora of choices of sides, I opted for the hash browns and a biscuit. The food was wonderful-a lot of food plus coffee for $13. Their biscuits are homemade, huge, warm and crumbly. Try to eat one without making a delicious mess! I really didn't like our waitress. She gave us good service, but I didn't like how she talked to us. Or how she kept trying to take my friend's plate even though she was still eating. I miss the beautiful picture along the back wall of the restaurant. I don't know why they got rid of it, but its just a bare wooden wall now. There was another time I went to Eggie's for breakfast and there was a silverfish in my hash browns. This place is great for omelets, but inspect your food and drink before you consume it.

I really enjoyed this retro cafe- reminded me a lot of a place I had back home growing up. Large portions of classic American breakfast foods. I had the eggs with corned beef hash. Also tried the pancakes. Everything was very tasty at a good price. Not a place to go if you are worried about eating low cal healthy foods. But if you a big filling breakfast you certainly can't go wrong here. This place definitely kicks Denny's butt for breakfast.

A solid 3.5 but the good outweighs the not so good here. Headed here with my deal chicken vouchers in hand. So, thought ultimately we could really treat ourselves to a hearty breakfast. Solid breakfast spot. Haven't been to a place with their kinda vibe in Sacramento, as it has more of a back-east diner feel to it. Not sure how breakfast for 2 ended up to be $30 and I had to use all my vouchers. It was also interesting how the server thought and said we ended up with a "free" breakfast. Um. No, I had to pay SOMETHING for these. Anyhoo, the server was super sweet and service was great! Hashbrowns were excellent and all the food was served HOT. Thank you Ms. server for asking if I'd like grilled onions on my 'browns. Delicious. The staples (i.e. french toast & waffle) were just average. Meaning there was nothing special about them like even a touch of cinnamon, etc. but tasty none the less and came with lots of whipped butter on the side (I like whipped butter on the side). Though I was intrigued by the biscuits and gravy and saw a table with a nice big biscuit, I opted to ask for the country gravy on the side of my 'browns. I'm glad I did rather than splurge on an order. Just something about the gravy that didn't taste right. Not to my liking. The bacon, on the other hand, was nice and crisp and thick-cut. Omelette was good and packed with whatever came in it. Overall, I'd come back, but without some sort of groupon, deal chicken, etc., it is kinda pricey. Like I said, breakfast for 2 for 30 bucks and I had water for my beverage. Lots of choices on the menu and really friendly service.

Place was crowded and loud. Couldn't even carry a conversation at our table. I ordered pumpkin pancakes and they were nothing special. Everything came out burnt (toast, sausage, pancakes, homefries) and or lacking flavor. We weren't given water, I had to request a refill on my empty coffee, and the service was slow. The only thing that came quickly was the bill. A waitress from another section even came by and hurriedly grabbed the hot sauce off our table mid meal! Maybe it's better when they aren't as rushed, but I doubt I will be going back.

  • Mark D.

Typical diner food, but it's not a chain so I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. Unfortunately, the food wasn't tasty enough for me to stretch it to a 4. Also, some people the servers catered to as if the king and queen of england had stepped across the threshold of Eggies. Others, they were slow to serve, and indifferent while serving. However, both sides of that spectrum are exactly the type of service I expect and enjoy at a diner. Either you're "in" or your not. And in order to be part of the "in" crowd, you have to be a regular. Unfortunately, Eggies wasn't good enough in my opinion to become one of those.

Hands down favorite breakfast spot in Sac. My mom even likes this restaurant and she can make a darn good breakfast. I love it's family owned and they have everyone in the family working on the weekend. You don't find that very often... Anyway back to the food... this place is amazing. I must admit my girlfriend has stolen recipes from this restaurant and tried to duplicate them at home... While it's good nothing compares to Eggies.

If I only have time to eat one meal during the day, I head straight to Eggies. Their meals are huge and hearty, I feel like I'm a kid again eating at my hometown's local diner. It's not a fancy schmancy place but the people are down to earth and friendly. I am convinced they use magic beans in their coffee because I'm always bursting with energy after the first cup, it doesn't taste strong at all but it definitely packs a punch! They also dont serve creamer that come in tiny little packs from hell so that's a huge plus for me. I'm an omelet fan and they have a lengthy creative omelet list, including one that is called The Kitchen Sink ;) I will choose this place over iHop with no hesitation.

Fabulous! It's the kind of diner where the waitresses all have slung hash for many years, they know many customers by name, and they call you hon and ask you if you want "Blue, yellow or pink" with your coffee. I had two fried eggs, they were actually done perfect, the way I asked, and were super tasty. I ate them with husband's sourdough toast, delicious! I tried my husband's corned beef hash; it's made with REAL corned beef, slow cooked, no canned crap here. The potatoes could have been cooked a bit longer but overall, solid meal and too much for the two of us. My eggs and his corned beef and coffee came to 15.52, which is quite reasonable for that amount of food.

Walked in here and left after less than five minutes. My friend and I were standing waiting to be seated as two servers ignored us and were extremely rude. They didn't even acknowledge that we were standing there. Got a really bad vibe from them. Place looked rundown anyway so we bounced!

I really like coming here. I always really like the food I get. Generally I will order omelets and they're amazing. Some places tend to over cook the eggs, not here. I've never had to wait for a table. Maybe I've just hit it right? I never have had issues with getting refills or how I am treated. My friends always like what they get and comment how good it is. It's a great diner with a dive feel to it in a few ways. I'm very okay with that and will be back soon.

Solid no frills breakfast. One of the better old style Sac breakfast spots. Loads of food. Waitress was super nice and quick service. Scrambles, omelets, pancakes, waffles, eggs Benedict and all the other classics. I also saw but didn't try the lunch items.

  • Polo L.

Huge portions, lots of variety, and friendly service. To put things in perspective: they have 6 types of eggs benedict, boast 4-egg omelets, and my country fried steak came with a bowl of sausage gravy on the side. These people know how to do breakfast.

  • Kirsten D.

I went here yesterday with a friend for breakfast. I had the garden omelette and he had the california omelette. Mine had avocado, tomato, mushroom, spinach and zucchini. It also came with hash browns. I was neither impressed nor disappointed. I felt like it was a little on the greasy side. The coffee I ordered was also very weak (I like my coffee LEADED). For a 35 dollar breakfast I felt like I could have been more impressed. I might go back.

We've been coming here about three years and have never been let down. They really do just about everything well. Huge portions and good service. For me the most important thing is that their fried items always taste great. No stale/old oil. In talking to our server today he told us their cooks have been there about 10 years. It's obvious they care about making good food. Keep up the great work guys!

I love having breakfast here even when it's noon... The bananna and walnut waffles are delicious, as well as the omeletes. If you feel like having great breakfast food I recommend you go here. It can become a little crowded but that's always a great sign, the service is great as well as the food, I will always go back!!

Living in Arden, there aren't a ton of choices for breakfast or lunch that aren't chain restaurants, so when I stumbled across Eggies I was very very happy. The service is always timed well, and friendly. The portions are HUGE here, so come hungry, and everything I've tried has been very tasty. They seem to lean towards mexican style/american style breakfasts and lunches with a very hearty selection. My only complaint is that the coffee really is not good (very watered down tasting and I don't even get a caffeine buzz after finishing a few cups), and my bf and I can never leave this place without spending around 35 for breakfast, which is a bit pricey for me. In my opinion, I'd rather have a normal portion size I can finish (especially since leftover breakfast is not tasty) at a lower price, than a huge portion for something pricier.

I had an interesting experience here. I read the reviews on yelp and thought, oh this is going to have awesome food! We walked in and I looked around at the old diner atmosphere and again thought oh man this food will be the best. Let's start with the service. The service was alright. We came in and instantly were told to take a seat in whatever booth we wanted. We sat down and there were four people behind the counter doing various things. It took us about 10 minutes to get menus, after that we got our waters right away and were given another 15 minutes or so decide on what we wanted. The food took another 15 minutes to get to us. Now lets talk food. I have a mixed review here. My friend got biscuits and gravy and hash browns; both were given a good review. I ordered eggs benedict which came with hash browns as well. The hash browns were awesome! But I had an odd experience with the eggs B. The hollandaise sauce was more of an american cheese golden-orange color, instead of the pale yellow of usual. I thought it was cheese, so I asked and was assured that it was not cheese, that it was just a different color sauce. Here's my mixed review: it was pretty good, even though it didn't look right. I would totally eat here again and I would eat the eggs benedict again too.

Spotty service. One good server n the rest suck. We may have caught them on a bad day since the first time we went, the food was great, the hash browns crispy, and the eggs done right. This time, the hash was soggy, eggs runny, and the Canadian Bacon too salty. We are pretty laid back as far as service is concerned but when your server forgets to give you a menu along with a cup of coffee at the getgo, then it makes for a bad experience. We left without tipping, which I hate to do but it was that bad! So hopefully, if you decide to eat there, you get them on a good day!

Been driving by it for YEARS and meaning to try it. I went this weekend and now I know that I wasn't missing much. I don't think breakfast is hard to screw up, and Eggie's didn't screw it up really. It just wasn't that great. And it was slow, given we were there ahead of the rush, and the service was very inconsistent. For example, the waitress was nice enough; just couldn't figure out why she would refill the coffee at 3 of the 4 tables in our area and then head back to the kitchen, still with coffee in the pot. And yes, if you guessed that I was the table that didn't get a refill, you'd be correct. And then part of an order at our table was wrong, no problem, she says they'll make it right. But then nothing happens for about 10 mins and so we ask her what gives and she said, "oops, I forgot". Well, I appreciate the honesty but... It's a pretty typical diner vibe; outdated interior; mediocre food. Huge portions, that is for sure. I'd probably say 2.5 stars, but I'm rounding up because I hate chain restaurants and this is probably locally-owned, which I appreciate.

Bought a Groupon for my first visit. The whole experience was a disaster! Started with the server telling me they don't serve cream for coffee (some imitation product). Then signs were posted all over that if you were using coupons you needed to declare them before ordering. I did and the server didn't know how to find the coupon number on my phone, so they wouldn't use it. However, a younger server came by the table and was able to view the voucher, so I got to use it after all. I ordered no mushrooms in my crab/avocado omelet and it came with mushrooms. At first I thought I would pick them out, but there were too many. They fixed my order, but returned the plate without a fork! Had to finally track down a server for a fork. Too much drama for a good breakfast experience. This place is the west coast's Waffle House!!! I would say the omelet was very good, but not the service.

Eggies is a decent place for breakfast. The waitresses are very friendly and offer quick service. It's a very back-in-the-day lookin' place. You can belly up to the counter, or wait for a vinyl booth. Eggies revisted, 10/14/07: SLOOOOW service. Our waitress got stuck at the cash register and took a while to take our order. The order finally goes in and it's another wait. I see what I believe is my order (it was 10:45 am and I ordered a burger; it was the only burger sitting on the counter) and it continued to sit there for about 10 minutes. Don't know if it was because my husband ordered his bacon extra crispy and my burger had to wait for that, or if our entire orders sat there for 10 minutes. I'm disappointed . . .

The place is getting a bit tired like the waitress we had. the ceiling is black with dirt and the fake plants dusty and gross..When the waitres told the bus boy that we got two dirty cups, she replied with "I don't care, one was only for hot water"........well, then I don't care to leave a tip.

Divey diners can be fun, but Eggie's teetered a bit too far on the dive side. Everything looks/feels greasy and dirty, and there are fading plastic plants (with water stains under them) in the windows. The coffee was awful. My veggie omelette was surprisingly good however. For that and the service they get 3 stars, but I doubt I'll be back again.

The best place for breakfast is Eggie's. Lumberjack portions, hashbrowns up the yin-yang, and service as charming and quaint as the country decor. My advice to anyone heading into Eggie's, if you like an omelet, get it's friend, the scramble. The scramble is a dollar better in price, has one less egg (so the egg to item ratio is more even) and all the hashbrowns they can stuff on your plate. I always enjoy their rye toast with my Sonoma Joe's (which the chicken-apple sausage is to die for here) but I know they make their own (Bisquick type) biscuits, have an english muffin, bagel (for an extra charge), and all the standard options beautifully toasted. Come for the breakfast food (coffee is crazy watery, and the salads are odd) but stay for the adorable atmosphere (diner all the way, ooh but not in the cheesy, we're-trying-too-hard-to-be-kitschy way) and the wait-staff who have been here for years. When marriage was legal, my wife and I had our "honey-moon" here. Eggie's really is that good.

Sac's breakfast scene can be week. They had some goodies here. An absurdly large chicken fried steak... and A California Benedict (bacon and avo)

First let's start off by saying YUMMY! This has to be top 5 in all of Sacramento for breakfast. They just don't have one item whatever you feel like...pancakes (blueberry if you want) ,chicken friedsteak, bacon and eggs, omelets ( the Best in Sac ). This is a must come too! Without a dought you will totally satisfied. The Only BAD thing I can say is they needin a bigger parking lot. If there aren't any parking spots drive in a cirlce til one comes free its worth it. The kitchen sink omelette is the BOMB, order that with the blueberry pancakes.

Great place for Breakfast!! We always have to take our out of town guests here. The portions are huge and the food is homemade and wonderful!! They have the best scrambles, and there is even options for those who are watching their weight. Always busy, but the wait is worth it. They always have the same great staff that work well together.

I had Saturday breakfast here this past weekend, and I left a full and happy camper. Walking in, Eggies is pretty unassuming, complete with wood panelling and old yellowed paintngs on the walls. It's pretty tight quarters, but holy Jesus the menu was HUGE. Oh, and the place was damn near packed to the brim. The waitress was friendly but quite curt, frankly. I had the Chorizo con Papas (like the good lil Mexican that I am), and damn was it good. The portions on everyone's food was quite large, and everyone was stuffed. Plus, I've never seen biscuits that size! They were the size of my head, I promise. My only real complaint was that our food took forever to get served to us. In their defense, they were really busy, like I said earlier. Oh, and FYI: you have to pay up front. I'll be back.

Clearly a long time local favorite but we didn't see the allure. Parking was difficult. Servers were every old lady you ever saw in a far side cartoon. Our server was sour. Booths old. Old paneling covered with syrup. BUT food was good when ordering a special. Omelet was perfect. Pigs in a blanket was standard. There are better places for us!

Haven't been to the Eggster in years. What you get here is real good, down-home breakfast food served by waitresses who call you 'Hon'. The omelets are particularly large (4-eggs) and perfectly executed and the hash browns and home fries with grilled onions were excellent. It's not fancy, but it is good food and good service, and we even had early morning entertainment. A 'local' cart pusher stopped in for a cup of coffee at the counter. They must of known this guy because they gave it to him 'gratis'. A nice move by the staff, unfortunately, the local decided he would carry on a conversation with his cup of coffee rather than drink it. After about 5-minutes of inane yelling and face contortions, the staff, realizing our friend was terrorizing the throng of 40 or so seniors (75-90yo!), booted him out the door. The last we saw of him, he was yelling at his now Styrofoam Togo coffee cup in the parking lot.

Heart attack waiting to happen! There's nothing special about this place --- it's like another IHOP or Denny's, but the portions are HUGE! You could definitely spilt one entree amongst all of Africa and North Korea.

Honestly the best classic cafe/breakfast place in town. Never fails. Huge plates of food. Good prices, and servers who made working there a career. Its a no BS place where u get what you want when you ask for an all american breakfast joint.

First time to eat there but my friends have been before. Most breakfast places I go I will get the eggs Benedict. But Eggie's has Baja Benedict! Soooo good! Came with shrimp and avocado with the egg and muffin. Sauce was nice not to heavy. Eggs poached well. And it comes with a side of hash browns. I finished the plate. Ans the hostess and server were both very friendly and nice ladies. Great place. Will be coming back next time I'm back in town.

Eggies is one of the best diners in Sacramento, with a very large breakfast menu. One of the best items is the chicken apple sausage - smoky and flavorful! They always have some sort of unusual pancake/french toast flavor or topping which is very tastey (I've had great pumpkin pancakes, and pancakes with various seasonal fruits). They also have a very wide variety of omelets. Coffee is solidly mediocre, but they do keep your cup full. Service is typically pretty quick, but if you come on the weekends, get here early. The place gets packed, attesting to the devotion of Eggie's "regulars". If you're lookin' for a Tower-type, fancy-schmancy breakfast concoction, keep on driving. But if you're looking for a great selection of good diner breakfast fare, this is the best place in Sacramento.

My first Yelp review! Boobies! Pretty good breakfast. I ordered the ultimate break"feast". ChicFriSteak, home fries, French toast, etc... Huge portions!!! The steak and gravy was excellent! The potatoes, not so much... Had to bring the French toast home. Good service. Decent prices. I will go again. Cheers

Great local eatery for breakfast and lunch. The breakfasts are large and very filling. If you are on a diet, you may want to avoid eating here because your calorie and cholesterol counts will probably increase after eating here. I have eaten here more than the number of check-ins that I have and will certainly plan on going back again.

I went here because my car was getting serviced at VW and i was starving so my service guy said eggies is the best and it is!!! awesome food at an awesome price, i wish i lived in sac now because i would eat eggies all the time!!

Perhaps it is my Bay Area snobby, knows how to cook and eats at nice places attitude, but I had high expectations for this place based on the reviews. I like that it is not a chain. I liked the people. The coffee was very bad. I had a scramble that included sausage. They used cut up bits of thin breakfast links. My wife had Canadian bacon, but it was thick slices of what can only be described as processed ham in a tube. The homefries were deep fried, rather than cooked on a grill. Better than Dennys, but that is the best I can say.

I love this place!! I used to go there about once a week when I lived in Sacramento. Great service and great breakfast. You don't find many places like this anymore. Its not too appealing to look at but the food is great. Servers been there awhile and get to know you. I miss Eggies now that I live in So Cal, nothing like that here

I'm a big fan of breakfast, and this place hits the spot. It's your classic diner that you don't see too much of anymore...the menu is large, the portions generous, and the meals stick to your ribs. Great remedy for a hangover, I might add... The place is like the diner out of Pulp Fiction, I always get a kick out of that... If you like simple, honest breakfasts, this is your spot...just don't expect 5-star cuisine...

  • Daniel M.

Eggies makes a great traditional artery packing breakfast. I've never had a bad meal here and I have to say the 'Ultimate Breakfast' is probably the best deal around. Thanks to Eggies I no longer have to choose between chicken friend steak or french toast, I can just get both now. If you go when it's crowded there could be a long wait and you may have to park on the street as the parking lot is not large. Much much better tasting than somewhere like Denny's or IHOP, why go to one of those places when Eggies is right here.

Food is okay. Unfortunately my service was terrible during my visit. We were only given part of our order. When we were basically done when they finally delivered the missing portion.

I really want to give 5 stars to this place, because the food was excellent, but i have to take off 1 and 1/2 stars for the up-keep of the facility. The floor looked like it hadn't been vaccumed in a week or shampooed in over a year or replaced in over 20 years. But this place has a lot of redeeming qualities like the friendiness of the staff. For that, i will add back 1 star (but yelp doesn't allow 1/2 stars - otherwise i'd give this place a 4.5). They were extremely accomodating in helping find an outlet to plug in my computer. They even let me sit in a closed section in order to access the outlet and even pushed 2 table together for me to have more room with my laptop. I appreciate their kind service. All that is left to do is update and scrub the interior a bit and it will be 5 stars for Breakfast food all the way. (i had the pancakes - yummy, eggs, bacon, and hasbrowns - i'm only 5'7" 130, but i ate every last bit of it "-)).

Went here this morning. I had the Irish Omlette special, each of my three kids had buttermilk pancakes, and my wife had the old fashioned breakfast. Dont go here expecting great contemporary decor. This place is a throwback to old roadhouse type diners. You can get a table, booth, or sit at the counter. The service started off very shaky. We were seated for nearly 10 minutes, and no one came to offer coffee or anything, while three other tables were seated, and their orders taken. I finally had to walk up to the counter and ask if we were going to be helped. After that, service was great, and our server was very pleasant. My eggs were a bit underspiced, and sort of bland. The potatoes that came with them were great. A little salt helped, but they needed more. Sort of disappointing, as I have been here before and food was great. Cant complain too much though, price was right. My kids loved their pancakes, coffee was good, and my wife enjoyed her breakfast. All in all, family of five ate for like $40, with OJ, Coffee, Choclolate Milk drinks. So in summary, not much on decor, service is usually good but can be sketchy, coffee is great, prices are right, and you get a boat load of food.

Living Social is not doing this place any favors. The picture on the latest offer did not show only good M-F. Probably would have not purchased if restriction had been clear. Our waitress stated that a large number of people came in with them and they are not good on the weekends. This will hurt both Eggies and Living Social. We had the entertainment book in the car and used our coupon to try the CA Benedict. Very good and a large portion. Place needs a remodel but the food and service were good. The problem with Living Social could cost them business. I had one employee from another nearby restaurant tell me that the Groupons had help to keep them open. The photo on the Living Social offer should have clearly stated M-F only. I had to really search the certificate after printing to find the restriction. I have seen offers from their competitors which clearly display the restrictions. The Sonoma Joe's weekend special looks good but can not use certificates for this one. Joe's special minus ground beef and add Aidel's chicken and apple sausage. I might attempt this one at home. Thanks for the idea. Have to pick up a package at Costco.

My favorite place for brunch in Sacramento. Huge, generous portions with fresh ingredients at a low price. You gotta try it to believe it.

I absolutely love this place. We used to call it mama luccas (loo-kas). The best place for hangovers in 100 degree weather. The chicken fried steak is proably the greatest meal ever....ever. It also comes with a massive biscut with bacon gravy...droooool and hash browns as far as the eye can see. I highly recommend this place. I'm thinking of taking a trip to Sacramento just to indulge in their fine cuisine.

Great alternative to iHop. Little pricey, unless you go with the "specials" which are only 6,50 for pancakes/eggs/sausage. Plusses: - Good coffee - Waitress lady calls you honey. I dig that. - Poached eggs. Minuses: - Receipts are unreadable, you have no idea what you are paying for. - Mints cost 10 cents. No kidding. On your way out the door, you can take a mint, if you leave 10 cents. Really. That's just weird.

Where the waitstaff calls you "Hon". I haven't been there in a few months but I'm craving an Eggies omelette right now. It used to be within close walking distance from my old place, and it still kind of is, though a much longer walk, but that's good because you'll be getting plenty of food on your plate. There is a really good selection of omelettes (they have other food too but I haven't tried it, even though I've been going there for years) and they are pretty decent sized. I used to eat dinner there too but they cut back on their hours in the last few years. I have never gotten anything bad from there (and I've eaten there for years). There are several seating arrangements from booths to counter to tables. I like the booths the best. I like the feel of the place, it's very casual and comfortable and they try to make you feel at home. When you first walk in it's like you're in a '70's diner. If it's crowded sometimes there is a longer wait for the food but they'll make sure you're have coffee, juice or whatever beverage you're drinking pretty quick.

i loved my food. it tasted homemade. waffles are not that great! but the sausage, hash browns, scrambles, and bacon were lovely! my bf got the country scrambled and that is effing amazing! i wish i would have gotten that:) def recommend this dish!

Amazing food and service! Our waitress was very friendly and even gave us tips on how to save money when we were ordering. The sausage patties and delicious and so are the pumpkin pancakes. Prices are totally reasonable. I will absolutely be back! Yum!

Whats good at Eggies? What isn't good at Eggies... Well let me quantify that statement; Whats good for breakfast at Eggies? Since I have only had breakfast there I really can't comment on the other parts of their menu. My 95 year old Grandpa took me there for the first time and I was shocked. We had to park down the street, the parking lot was full, we even had to wait for a table. I have been back twice since and it was the same thing, this place is packed. You know what they say it generally a pretty good idea to eat at a places that are always busy. Stepping through the doors into the fake wood paneled, booth lined dinner you cant help feeling nostalgic as well as hungry. The menu has 4 pages of timeless breakfast classics and two pages dedicated to lunch and dinner, that should tell you something. The breakfasts are huge if you need to till a field or cut down some trees this is the place to go. The chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy are awesome. A large part of biscuits and gravy is the gravy and Their gravy is done right, lots of pepper and huge sausage chunks. The bacon they use is also top notch really thick slices and good quality, two slices where like eating four or five anywhere else. Their pancakes, omelets, and hashbrowns all done perfectly and served in more then generous helpings. In fact my Grandpa raved about their Ham breakfast, it was huge, the ham slice cut thick, cooked perfectly caramelizing the outside, and it was hanging off of both sides of his plate. He made breakfast and later lunch out that slice of ham. I would definitely recommend this place to truck stop/dinner breakfast lovers. If your into fancy upscale dinning this is not the place for you.

I was in the Arden area around 10am. We wanted some breakfast so we yelp'd and found this place called Eggies. Small parking area old school diner atmosphere. Anyway, we had breakfast. The food is not bad. You can not really complain. They have a huge variety of things to eat. We tried the new chicken, artichoke, mushroom omelet. It was ok, every thing just tasted like eggs. You really couldn't get the other flavors and ingredients out of the omelet. The hashbrowns were good, not drowning in a pool of oil like Dennys or Ihop. I had some Carne Asada Mexican breakfast which was decent. Large plate portions very filling.

Wanted something distinctly breakfast-y so my friends and I went to this place. A little more pricey than say IHOP or Denny's but totally worth it. The coffee was a little weak for my taste but otherwise everything was great! I had the california benedict - english muffin, bacon, tomato, avocado, poached eggs, and hollandaise sauce - and the hash browns, which was all so delicious. Each order has a lot of food so you won't be disappointed...I even had leftovers for lunch! The people are really friendly and love to just chat it up with you. They're good with timing on food and always keep your coffee refilled. Love this place - would definitely recommend it!

Better than Denny's/IHOP. The only downsides is the parking and the wait if you go during the weekend. The service staff is nice and hardworking. Food was really good, the apple sausage was top notch.

This is a great breakfast, with huge portions (my wife and I split the chicken fried steak and it was plenty for both if us). This place is all about the food---the atmosphere is not why you come. The staff is very friendly and it's a good place for a group breakfast. Best breakfast place in Sac. It is a little hard to park if you come on a weekend morning.

    (4)
  • Kristin T.

The food is great, but the wait sucks! Their Pancakes are to die for, the eggs are always done to perfection, and their sides of bacon are done just the way you wish your Mom had cooked them... My only beef with Eggie's is the LoNg waiting times for a table or 50's style booth, particularly on weekends. On these busy days the wait staff is too busy to notice you (as they are flying from the kitchen to tables), and the Hostess is nowhere to be found (probably in back with the handsome Dishwasher). Wait times are antagonizingly slow when crowded! Great Food though!

Yum yum yum! Eggies is the kind of place you dine at on a weekend morning with a big group of friends. The waitress are great and start to remember you after a few trips. The have no problems splitting up checks and taking big groups. I love thE BBQ sauce at this place it is amazing. This is a great place to check out for a great breakfast!!

I hate to throw a 5 star rating out on my first review. But......they treat me like a king in this place. Food is awesome! Nice variety. Waitresses are fun, and spunky. Hungover or not, this is my joint for breakfast.

The food was tasty and the portions, generous. The waitress was mostly attentive, but because I ordered decaf coffee, it was tough to get a refill. Several times others at our table and around us had their cups refilled... while mine sat empty. I wouldn't hesitate to go back though! In fact, I'm craving a California omelette right now!

Friendliest servers in town. Great breakfasts and lunches that are well priced for the size of the servings. Eggies has a large group of loyal, long time customers for good reason.

Eggies really does know it's eggs. Tons of yummy omlets and scrambles to choose from and some Benedicts as well. The huevos rancheros is a good choice too. If eggs aren't your style you can find fancy pancakes and waffels here too. The place gets kinda packed on the weekend but Eggie's knows how to get you in and out of there with a great breakfast pretty quick.

Best breakfast place in the valley. Omelletts are to die for. The scrambler with leave your tastebuds happy. Everything on the menu taste fresh and the French Toast is lite and fluffy. If you want somewhere to go and get the best breakfast in town, come to Eggies... you will be satisfied with the service and the portions.

Definitely a "Flo" and "Mel" type diner...great omletes and fast service! If I could smoke in here I would, not that I smoke anyways, but the look of the place just says "oldie but goodie" dive....mmmmmm...I'm up for the b-fast, especially after the drinking night is past...

this place is nestled in the middle of the arden area... its in kind of an unassuming location though.... if you blink you may miss it! the atmosphere is pretty old skool, its as if you stopped at a truck stop in the mid-west somewhere back in the 80's where you see the same waitresses every day..... i give it 5 stars only because Sac. doesnt have a lot of good breakfast spots to choose from... its pretty good, but definitely heavy and greasy and be prepared to consume over 2,000 calories with this meal alone....

yummy yummy! so we went on a Thursday at about 9 a.m. For a people-watcher like me it wasn't as exciting as, say, Saturday or Sunday morning. I tried the "make your own breakfast." you get to choose four items from a list of about 10. Pancakes were fluffy and hot. Bacon was not too fatty. Eggs were cooked correctly. Hash browns were not all oily. That was $5.49. The coffee was strong and fresh with prompt refills/top-offs. Boyfriend got the "ultimate breakfast" (or something similarly named) and that was freakin' huge. Our friend got an omelet with wheat toast. That looked good, too. This meal was delicious! My only complaint was that the dining area was a bit warm. But they may have turned up the heat because it's been super cold in the mornings lately.

HORRIBLE! We've been eating here for about 15 years and this used to be a great place to go to eat even though the interior still looks like the 70's and probably hasn't been updated since then and waitresses rude and very moody but our last few visits found the waitresses worse, they didn't get our orders right, the food has lost flavor, and their prices are not reasonable. Waitress didn't care our orders were wrong and we heard a couple of other folks complain about the same thing. When we checked out not once did they talk to us, they were too busy talking to each other and then handed us our change without a thank you. These waitresses have been there for many, many years and have always been rude and you expect it when you go there but the last few times were really bad. We'll never be back. Funny thing, we talked to a few other folks we know who eat here and they too have quit coming for pretty much the same reasons.

Not the best restaurant for breakfast. It use to be horrible, then went through a transformation into something acceptable, but once again it's starting to go downhill. It was good while it lasted. Not my choice anymore.

This place is cool. I like to find different places to eat breakfast, keeping my eyes open for clean, tasty and filling. Today I had the Louisiana Hot Links and Eggs with hashbrowns and bisquits and gravy. Very tasty, good service and clean. I will go back soon. This was a weekday and the lot was full, weekends could be hectic.
