After looking for Jerk chicken all over, yelp led me here. I am impressed. First off, any small/local owned diner with fresh table cloths is a win! I love this place, the only guy working (I assume is the owner), and the food. What a fantastic find and surprise in this part of town! Call to check his stock if you have a favorite, they are slow made and homemade items. To the poor reviews today on the same day, he advised me he had a huge catering event early and had to close unexpectedly to make his food. This is slow cooked fall apart meat, when he runs out, he is out. He could have opened, and you could have drank water with no food. Local owned means more to me than being angry about having to close. What if he had been severely sick and had no choice but to close. Shop local!

Value * Taste **** Ambience *** Service *** It's a bit hard to find as its tucked in the corner of a shopping strip, but is located directly across the street from Kmart. The ambience is surprisingly nice as you walk in. However my friend asked me why are the soda bottles (used as vases) have water in them when all the flowers are fake? Lol!!! Ummm I have no answer for that one! We arrived when they opened at noon, which I think is too late for a restaurant. At minimum it should be 11:30am and ready to serve. It was a one manned restaurant and he did his best cooking and serving but it did reduce his service to us because I eventually had to go to the counter to get his attention on several occasions to order, get water, the bill. We really came to try the island oxtail stew but he was out of it. He also mentioned that he was out of all the appetizers except for crab cake. This was a huge disappointment. How can you run out of food? I understand possibly one item but he was out several?! This tells me he runs a tight budget and only runs out to buy and cook food as he runs out or simply poorly organized. It was my friend's birthday so i didn't want to trek her around to another place and decided to stay and try. Apparently HE RUNS OUT OF FOOD ALL THE TIME, see other reviews from years past. I read at least three. We ordered the goat curry, jerk chicken, chicken patty and beef patty. The entrees were delicious. The jerk chicken fell off the bone, while it tastes great it lead me to believe it may have been reheated and reheated to do that. We were the only ones there for quite some time so I doubt they get the volume of people needed for fresh turnovers. The patties were basically pastry stuffed with lightly spicy meat. The flavors of the meat was ok but the pastry was dry and unflavorful. I didn't like it. See my posted photos. The worst thing about everything was the price and portion. Nearly $14 for one entree and almost $13 for the other with one ladle portion of the main entree for each? My friend and I noticed immediately the SMALL PORTION we received and needless to say we walked out still hungry. In fact I hadn't restaurant skipped in a long time. We were able to have a second lunch nearby at a dim sum restaurant immediately afterwards. When he asked us how was everything my friend even told him the portions were small. He just smiled and took off. Well at least he didn't have an attitude about it but he didn't address it either. I recommend to the owner to lower his price by 35% if he wants to have increase business. The flyers indicate they are at their third year in business. The neighborhood isn't great, located in an impoverished area of Sacramento. The ambience or proportions don't dictate the price and you definitely need one of them because while the food overall was good, it still wasn't good enough for either my friend or I to return and pay $30 for two entrees that barely filled us.

I took my husband on a lunch date to this place and WOW!!! Everything we ordered was amazing from the dinner rolls which were hot and fresh (cold bread pisses me off) to the curry. Each bite was better than the one before. I ordered the Caribbean curry chicken while my husband had the Jamaican curry goat. We always order something different so that we both can try a variety of different menu items. I don't have not one bad thing to say about this place or the service. Vincent, the chef, was a one man crew when we went and although he had just recently had a dentist visit and couldn't talk much he provided world class service. It was like being at my grandmother'a house for Sunday dinner. The restaurant was spotless and welcoming and bright. It's the kind of place that you could sit at the table and take a nap just so you could wake up and order something else. My husband and I both left happy and full. Try this place!!!! You won't regret it. Even if you're dieting.

"Buffalo Soldier" by Bob Marley on repeat, along with other island-feel songs, as I'm enjoying my plate of Caribbean Breeze Grilled Red Snapper (w/ Lemon Pepper). Not bad when you mix all the flavors in. I little slice of the snapper, pinch of fresh lemon, rice and honey dew, and some sweet plantain -- a decent meal. A really small place, easy to miss. Blue and yellow themed tableware, casual dining atmosphere, although the wine glasses added a little more of a sophisticated look. There are literally only 11 small tables in the restaurant, so I suggest you don't come with a big party. Our server, the only server present, was also our cook if I'm not mistaken. He was personable and quick, which was impressive considering he was the only worker there for lunch. My bread and salad with balsamic vinaigrette were really good appetizers. I didn't want to fail to mention that :) A-OK experience ~

I love this place it's one of the only in Sacramento..the service is great and personable and the food is amazing... Only negative is that it's stop authentic that it's only one person from the islands cooking all the food so if you're dinning in have patience... But the food is worth the wait

First time trying Caribbean food! The place is a bit too easy to miss. It's on the left side of Long Island Ice Cream, and their sign is half detached so you can barely read it. Inside, their decor is very formal, in color coordinating light blue and yellow. It doesn't quite match the mood of the location or scenery but I appreciate their attempt to dress up the place! Service is nice, he unfolds the napkins on your lap and turns each plate of food to ensure it faces you the right way. I ordered the Caribbean style curry chicken....NOT worth $10.95!! It has 3 tiny pieces of chicken, most of which were bones. He joked that I wasn't eating much of it yet when he checked on us....but funny thing is I did eat all chicken possible. You just couldn't tell it was only bones left because it's drenched in curry sauce. I wasn't a fan of the rice and beans either. I would give this place a 2 but I'm bumping up to a 3 for their warm and generous amount of bread and the plantains. I don't plan on coming back here unfortunately, too overpriced for the amount of food that you get :(

We've been looking for an authentic Caribbean food place in the Sac area for a while. I found this little gem on yelp and we decided to give it a try. It's very clean and the food is awesome. The owners are nice and very personable. I highly recommend it and despite the neighborhood, this is a great place. We've been back 2 times already. Freshly made food daily so the wait time is a little long but worth it.

this is a real diamond in the rough. run down area but the restaurant itself is very clean and well kept. the man takes pride in his place. very genuine friendly service. the owner is the host, waiter, cook, and cashier, but he still gets the food out in a reasonable time. you get a lot of food for your money. start w warm hawaiian rolls. salad with fresh mangoes and balsamic vinegrette with quite a kick. i got the pork jerk and gf got the chicken curry. both were awesome. meat is good quality and so tender. flavoring is strong but not over the top rice is soft and chewy. fried plantains were a nice sweet touch. 4.5 for food. 0.5 extra for service.

When we stumbled upon this little hole in the wall we didn't realize we would be in for such a treat. Vincent, the owner, runs a one man show and he does it very well. The sweet rolls were tasty and the Caribbean Breeze crab cakes we chose for the appetizer were amazing. The rice was yummy and the jerk chicken was full of flavor and melts in your mouth. We will be back!

This place was recommended by a friend and I'm glad I finally went. I had the jerky pork and my wife had the brown stew chicken. We both loved our meals. Also ordered a pay to go and the jamaican sodas. Definitely coming back to try the other dishes.

This restaurant with very neat orderly and clean. The owner Vincent is very welcoming, but the big conversationalist. I was served quickly, the food was not what i expected. Have traveled to numerous Caribbean countries and sample many versions so meals with the same name I found this to be quite different. I was there at the end of the day so The main things that I wanted were sold out. I really enjoyed the garden salad with the fresh mango, I was full just enjoying that. However my entrée brown stew chicken was not familiar to my palate. I am familiar with what it tastes like, and this was not it. The restaurant lacks any Caribbean type ambiance. The TV is playing versus soft Caribbean music. I suspect I will return place in the south bay for future Caribbean cravings. Never had a complaint about the food at the "Back a yard or Coconut restaurant"

The good: The owner was very friendly and attentive. The entrees were served with a nice salad and warm bread rolls. The bad: When we first walked in, I couldn't smell the lovely aromas of caribbean food at all. I was slightly confused because the restaurant says it's Caribbean, but most of the menu was Jamaican. The owner brought over the menu to us and came back in a few minutes to take our order and everything we wanted to order was not available. It's Saturday not even 5:00pm and they were out of all Caribbean drinks, curried goat, oxtail stew, and beef/chicken patties. The Food: I ordered the brown stew chicken, which was very tasty. The rice and peas, were good as well as the plantain. My boyfriend ordered the Jerk Pork, which was just wrong, wrong, wrong. The Jerk Pork looked more like a stewed pork, than a Jerk pork. I couldn't see any signs that the pork was cooked on a grill. I don't ever think that I would come back to this restaurant.

This restaurant is very well cared for. The tables are clean and the floor is spotless. Cute, but outdated, decor. The owner, Vincent is very welcoming and a character. He is cute and meticulous. But he is not a great Caribbean cook. I adore this food and have visited many times. Plus, as y'all now, I am from New Orleans so I have many Caribbean friends and not to mention a brother in law from Trini. So I know my island food. This food is highly under seasoned for the culture. The chicken was moist and tender but the peas and rice was lacking everything. I wen there with such high hopes and went to bed hungry and disappointed. Plantains were not even what I expected. They were ok but lacked the usual honey or sugar or just crisp edges. Plus he is always out of the Caribbean staples--jerk chicken, curry, or stew. I think he just doesn't cook them and says they are out so he will not have to cook them. I cannot return as the need for Caribbean is a craving to satisfy. The Breeze ain't it chile.

I just moved to Sacramento and was searching for a spot where I could get great curry goat and decided to try here because it was the only Jamaican spot in town I could find. I got went to get the curry goat and I don't think what I got was worth what I paid for. there was no variety with the sides, rice and peas and plantains were the only options. the curry goat portion was small and not the best I've had either. The golden crust patties were below average as well. I tried to order mini patties and he was sold out, he was actually sold out of a few items on the menu and it wasn't even the end of the day, it was about a few hours past noon. set up inside was nice though. when I went to pay with my debit card, he told me his card machine was down, if I didn't have cash on me, I would had been out of luck. he didn't bother to tell me until everything was ordered though.

There were certain items on the menu that we wanted to try but unfortunately, they were sold out. Other than that, the food was great!! An order of Oxtail stew, Jerk pork, and beef patty sure did please the palette. The owner was very welcoming and made sure everything was up to par. Will dine again next time in Sacramento.

I almost gave this place 3 stars...but after thinking back, the service was just too darn friendly to give it any less than 4 stars. The guy was a one man show...host, server, and cook. Considering this, everything was timely and he still had a huge smile on his face. Unfortunately, they were out of oxtail when we visited. Argh! That was the main entree we wanted to try. Anyhoo, we ended up getting the jerk chicken and steamed fish with butter. The jerk chicken was well seasoned although a bit on the dry side. Loved the plantains...sadly, they don't offer any plain rice as noted on the menu. The owner said it doesn't sell enough which led to waste. I don't eat beans at all so I just picked them out...blah. The fish was tasty and plentiful. It was cooked perfectly...just be careful of the bones! All in all, decent food with above and beyond service...

  • Tiffany M.

The owner is someone who cares about the quality of the food he serves. He was very friendly-even gave us a sample of the food when we couldn't choose between oxtail and jerk chicken. While the jerk chicken wasn't as spicy as I like, the flavors were great. The lettuce for his salad was wilted and instead of serving it and waiting for us to complain he substituted chicken and beef patties. These are the little things that make a big difference. He needs better signage because we couldn't find it from the street and there's nothing about it's outward appearance that screams restaurant. however, the place is clean, very chill and it's definitely somewhere we'll be eating again.

Wonderful experience from start to finish. Your served with a very soft and crusty bread to begin with. The oxtail stew you'll want to have more. The favors were right on mark. The rice with beans were fresh and seasoned perfectly. Delicious, favorful, and the service was awesome. The owner was very attentive and had great customer service!!

I wish I could give this restaurant no stars. But the customer service deserves to be spoken of. First off, I am new to Sacramento from Miami and dying to get some Jamaican food on the go. I have been to this location 4 times and everytime I go during their business hours , they are closed. The last time I went, the guy was inside in the phone and saw me outside and ignored me! I called and he said he is leaving for 20 minutes! Seriously? I'm right here! So I don't know how their food is, but with that kind of service, mi betta off buy some Grace seasoning and season mi own rhatid food!

One thing I hate the most is place being locked down during the posted open hours. It is 11:45 on Thursday. Yelp and sign on the window says opens at 11am.

I was really looking forward to eating at this place. I love Caribbean food and this is the only restaurant of its kind that I have come across in Sacramento. I arrive there only to find a sign on the door telling customers that they would be back in 20 minutes. Having no idea how long they had already been gone, I decided to wait the twenty minutes. I found it quite odd for a restaurant to close up shop like that, but I really wanted to try the food. I decided to pass the time by reading some more of the reviews for this place. With mostly good reviews, one that had been posted an hour prior caught my eye. She arrived at the restaurant only to be told by the owner that he was leaving for 20 minutes. Long story short, 30 minutes later, still no owners and no food. And by that time, another customer was waiting along with me. Needless to say, not a great first impression.

First of all I dont see anything that looks like this place repreaents Jamaica. The place is themed for the Virgin Islands and they have the mini VI flag. That being said, VI food has a completely different taste from Jamaican food. My man is from St.Thomas so id know The jerk chicken was very moist and it slipped off the bone. It is a bit spicier than I expected but the chicken did have a small kick to it. I also got a chicken pattie. This thing is HUGE!! And it definitely fills you up. It has a slightlu smokey taste to it and I think mine was fresh bc the pattie was nice and soft. Id come back to get the pattie since itd be easier for me to eat on the go. :)

Arrived here with a coworker for lunch at around 1 pm on a Friday and found that the place was empty with one employee present and a phone that would not stop ringing... Pros: Clean; Jerk Chicken was great; Rice and Beans was great; Bathroom was very clean; parking was great. Cons: The service could have been better if more than one employee was present coupled with some items not being available because Caribbean Breeze was "out." Will go back...

First time eating Caribbean food and I wish I tried it sooner! I was down the street and used my handy dandy Yelp app to find restaurants nearby. To my surprise, a solid 4 star and brand new Caribbean restaurant down the street! As soon as I saw the photo of their oxtail, I knew it was a fine choice. Upon entering, the place was empty. However, it was clean and probably a lot nicer than the place it used to be. The Chef was eager to see me and very friendly, he really deserves this restaurant to be successful. I ordered the Oxtail Stew and Caribbean Style Chicken Curry. Both came with plantains and rice mixed with beans. The rice is softer than white Jasmine rice that I'm used to but I really enjoyed it! I'm not a fan of beans but they went well mixed with the rice. Plantains are my fave but if you're not into eating savory with sweet stuff like my bf, you might not like it. The oxtail and chicken were SO tender!! Pretty much what everyone else has been saying, the flavor is on point. Not too overpowering but not bland, either. The tip about requesting the gravy over rice was a GREAT one. The gravy was filled with carrots and potatoes that brought a much needed crunch to complement the soft meat. Both entrees totaled to $21, which is the main reason I rounded up. Two full entrees, not too little or too much food; exactly enough for 2 adults and a child for just $21! OH and they each came with a salad! The salad was a spring mix with tomatoes and cucumbers with your choice of italian, balsamic vinaigrette, ranch or thousand island. It took a good 25 minutes to wait for my food togo but quality food takes time. I will definitely be back to try his other items!

Located next to Thrift Town and across the street from Kmart. Small restaurant with booths, tables, and 2 TVs but only one was on.. Along with some island music. We came in for lunch.. You have to have patience if you come here.. There's one guy working the front of the house. And he's great.. It's just a process for him to serve. He set our table up, sat us, laid napkins on our laps, poured us waters.. You're in a Caribbean restaurant, try a Caribbean beverage.. Entrees come with salad with your choice of dressing, rice and peas, and plantains. We thought about having a starter but, when warm bread and butter came to our table-- we knew we couldn't handle it.. especially since the bread was really good. (We had two servings of it.) Our salads came next. It was just some lettuce and tomatoes with dressing.. Good, fresh.. basic. Next our entrees.. I had the Jerk Chicken and when it came out it was three little pieces of chicken and at first I thought, hmmm.. that's a small portion but! it was just enough. The meal was complete and very filling. The chicken just fell off the bone and wasn't overly spicy. If I did get a spicy bite, some of the plantains was a sweet counter to it. The curry chicken... also good. This was our first time here and we enjoyed it quite a bit and look forward to coming back.. It reminded us of when we used to eat at Sol Cubano in North Highlands.. Some menu items weren't available so hopefully it'll be there next time. Overall, we had a great time and if you have a craving or looking to try a different place-- Try this one.

The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The owner is quite friendly. It's next to an ice cream shop and in the small parking lot next to the thrift store. Definitely worth trying out! The jerk chicken was well seasoned and fall off the bone tender!

I realize this may sound like hyperbole, but, honestly, this is probably the best 'ethnic' food restaurant I've tried. We popped in for lunch one Friday and were instantly greeted with island beats and sea foam & sunshine yellow environs. The sole waiter (owner?) was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was great! Very friendly and offered great explanations and excellent tips for the menu. My husband got the oxtail stew ("our most popular dish") and I got the curried goat (just because, c'mon curried goat!!). They also offer a whole fridge of Jamaican/Caribbean drinks. I got Ting - grapefruit fizziness and he got Champagne Cola (very bubbly). To start, they automatically bring out piping hot rolls and ice cold pats of butter. Then they bring out your salad (all entrees come with salad) - and it was actually served on a cold plate! I just loved the attention to detail at this place. They've truly thought your meal, your experience out - they are going to treat you so well. And speaking of treating you well --- the entrees were outrageously (like lip smacking-, no, table smacking-, hell, smack whatever you need- ) good. The oxtail stew is a thing of beauty. Soooooo delicious. The meat just falls off the bone and the flavors are comforting, yet surprising. My dish - the curried goat, was also awesome. Goat has such a neat flavor and I loved the potatoes that came with it. The curry wasn't spicy-hot, just pure flavor. I'll definitely order it again (though I'm getting the oxtail on my next visit - that stuff was amazing). And I know, I know, we were full; we should have stopped there, but we were having such a good time at this point, so we ordered dessert too. We got the slice of sweet potato pie to share - and it was huge! and delicious! and served with real whipped cream!! God, this place impressed me so much. This is not a light lunch, but since they serve the same menu for lunch or dinner, come for any meal and fall in love with the place and their awesome awesome awesome island cuisine.

First time here with a few friends. Got the jerk chicken. Dinner comes with hot bread/butter, salad, entree. Salad had fresh ingredients. Jerk chicken came with rice and red beans, plantains, and a good amount of seasoned chicken. Chicken was really tender and was basically slipping off the bone. Slightly smoky grilled flavor with a good amount of spiciness. I tried the jerk pork and the curry chicken from my friends' plates, which were both tasty. (but not as good as the jerk chicken) Portions aren't huge but they're decent and satisfying. Strong service. The owner takes your orders and delivers your food. The wait is a bit long, took like 15-20 minutes from ordering til we got our entrees which might or might not be inconvenient for you. I personally don't mind. Will definitely come back. Probably in the top 20% of places I've been to in Sac.

It's been years since I've had decent Caribbean food in Sacramento but that changed today. By a random search, I discovered Caribbean Breeze and immediately set-off to try it. The restaurant has a modest corner in a strip mall and would be easy to miss, but that would be a shame. The host and apparent one-man show, Vincent graciously seated us at a nicely set table with linens taking the time to even land our napkins in our laps before dashing off to the kitchen to tend to orders. The menu had several familiar Caribbean dishes, but today it had to be jerk chicken. While we waited for our food I had the chance to watch our host do his thing. It didn't take very long to realize how much he cared about his food, his restaurants appearance and his patrons. The food was amazing. The jerk chicken was aromatic and very tender, nearly melting in your mouth. I could have probably eaten a whole chicken prepared like this, it was that good. It wasn't particularly spicy as I've had it elsewhere, but it's gentle heat was plenty. This place is well worth the trip, the food is crazy-good and the owner/chef/host is a genuine treasure. I hope to be a regular for years to come.

I'm from the Caribbean and new to Sacramento. I found this restaurant and I love it. The owner actually lived on my home island ST. Thomas Virgin Islands at one point so we have a lot to talk about all the time. The music is great! Good island vibes and I feel like I'm right at home every time I go here. This is the place I go to when I'm home sick and it always cures me.

The owner is from the Virgin Islands, and he is VERY nice! My Trini girlfriend and I always get great service from him. My third time here and we go just for the Ox tails! Curry is next on the list! You get a salad to start with, not much to it but that's ok,and plenty of fresh warm rolls till your entree arrives. Ox Tails are tender and delicious in gravy, with nice soft plantains and a rice pilaf. I brought in a fresh whole pineapple for him as a gift and he grilled some up and gave it to us for dessert along with some tasty mango slices! I haven't tried everything on his menu, but we will be going back! Its very cozy there, and it is nice to have a DG Jamaican Ginger Beer and relax after our meal. My girlfriend can't wait for him to start making some Roti!

Friends from the Bay Area found this gem on Yelp. Thanks fellow Yelpers. We were the only ones in the restaurant so we were a little sketchy about what we were to expect. For appetizers we ordered the crabcakes and meat pies. The meat pies were very large and yummy. The crabcakes were pretty good too. I also had ginger beer for the first time which is really not beer but a ginger type of soda. That was good as well. We ordered ox tails, chicken stew and red snapper; all of which were served with rice and peas and plantains as well as a salad prior to the main meal. While the food was good the service and the hospitality was excellent! The owner was one of the nicest servers I have come across in several years. My continued patronage is going to be due mostly to his well mannered customer service; a far cry from many establishments today.

Although the Bay Area is thriving with cuisine from around the world, Caribbean food seems to be underrepresented. Caribbean Breeze brings quite a delight to Sac-town! The interior is plain and homey, nothing special. But maybe that's the beauty of it; like really being in a homey establishment in the Caribbean. The owner is really sweet, talkative, and funny. First, we got complementary bread and butter. For our appetizer, we ordered crab cakes which came with chili sauce that wasn't too overpowering. Although the crab cakes were good in a sense, it wasn't really to my liking. For our entrees, we ordered the oxtail and jerk chicken (came with two salads). O M G Both were freaking fantastic. First off, oxtail is my favorite kind of meat, and not many establishments offer it. The jerk chicken was also excellent! (a little spicy too) The entrees came with rice, beans, plantains, and melon, which were all good. By the end of the meal, I was very full and satisfied. The owner was very hospitable throughout the meal and he's very fun to talk to. I hope I can visit this place in the near future. :) I prefer authentic home cooking over fine-dining any day.

A charming new restaurant has recently opened in my hood! This little hole in the wall is pushed to one end of a strip mall on Stockton Blvd. and not easy to find at a glance. But we didn't let this be a deterrent, because after reading the excellent reviews about this place, we were already on a mission! As soon as we entered the establishment, we were greeted warmly by the waitress and owner who was also our chef. After being seated, menus were handed to us along with ice waters. The menus offered some unique Caribbean style dishes that I was a little worried I wouldn't find much to my liking, due to my limited appetite repertoire. I skipped past the meat dishes, but my boyfriend already knew that he wanted to try the Oxtail stew, because he had read the rave reviews on Yelp. I decided on the grilled red snapper which comes with red beans and rice, salad, fried plantains, and dinner rolls. Even though the menu says that it is cooked in lemon butter, I was told that I could have it with my choice of any of the 3 sauces they offer. So I picked onions and butter. We started dinner off with green salads and fresh hot rolls. Then, the main course came freshly prepared and beautifully displayed with fruit garnishes. The food was very enjoyable! The onion and butter sauce was rich, and added great flavor to the fish. My only complaint, and as I mentioned, I have a lot of weird preferences at how most of my food should be cooked, but, I wish I had asked for my fish to be well done. While most people love fish served moist and tender, I would have liked mine dry and flaky. But that's just me! All in all, everything was delicious! My boyfriend liked his meal too, but you can read more about that in his review. The hospitality here is friendly, casual, and laid back. A nice change from formality and the fake politeness I sometimes sense at other eateries. Since this business is still getting itself established, they weren't prepared to make change for larger bills of currency, so it might be helpful to come with exact change for your tab and tip, or use your debit/credit card instead. Otherwise, someone has to run to one of the nearby stores to get change. As the restaurants' name "Caribbean Breeze" states, this place is like a breath of fresh air among the already saturated ethnic restaurants we have along Stockton Blvd. Well worth a trip if you crave something new and different!

I'm Jamaican so I had high expectations of this place and I must say I was thoroughly pleased! I had the curry chicken and rice and also the escoveich fish and rice. The curry chicken was great although it was lacking some spicyness (my personal opinion I like my food tear jerking hot) the escoveich fish was alright not as authentic as I thought it would be but still good. I also had the Jamaican patties which felt like I was back on the island they were so good! Overall I would definitely recommend this place and I'm actually I. My way there now to try their oxtail !

I don't know what it's like to be invited into a Caribbean family's home for dinner. I'd speculate it's a lot like eating here. This is some serious comfort food. A very welcoming and friendly proprietor took orders, cooked, and served us. First came a basket full of warm, tasty rolls and salads. Then came the our entrees, various proteins perfectly cooked. Fish with butter dipping sauce. Tender goat curry with potatoes. A slightly spicy, rich oxtail dish. They were all good. I don't normally first visit review. I turn my nose up to those that do, but I feel compelled to spread the word. Well, that and I did taste 3 dishes, all good. What I am trying to say is go to the hood and get some.

If I had a Caribbean mom, this is what she would cook for me. Me and the hubby were in the area visiting family and were starving. We were about to eat some noodle soup because of the rainy weather, but this Caribbean place popped up on Yelp. I stopped reading at "oxtail". First, it took forever to find the place. The Yelp map is totally off. I submitted the location adjustment on my Yelp app so, hopefully, more people get to find this place! It's in a shady part of town, but when you get inside it's bright, clean and homey. The husband and wife owners are super sweet and nice. They make you feel so welcome! Everything on the menu sounded so good, it was hard to pick what to eat. We started with a Jamaican beef pattie. It's like pastry dough stuffed with tender beef. You can get chicken or veggie versions of it, too. It was so good. The crust was flaky and it had a nice kick to it. I wanted to order more, but our meals came with hot bread and salad, too! My hubby had the pan fried whole tilapia with tomato sauce. Such a great deal for a whole fish! The tomato sauce was simply made with some onions, but really complimented the fish. I had the island oxtail stew. Lots of flavor without being overpowering. The meat was sooooo melt in your mouth tender. Give me more, please! =) Both our entrées also came with rice and beans and yummy fried plantains. I couldn't help myself and I had to try their homemade almond pound cake for dessert. It was served warm with whipped cream and had just the right amount of sweetness. A perfect end to the meal. I'm so happy we found this place. They just opened in August, too! I can't wait to come back and try their curry goat!

Go for the Jamaican Curry Goat. Fantastic! Plantains accompany the dish and the seasoning and sauce was perfect. The host will bring you a bottle of Scotch Bonnet hot sauce and while it does add great flavor, use it VERY judiciously. I shall return.

If you love Carribean food, GOOD NEWS! You can finally stop mourning the loss of Jamaica House on Broadway and Gwen's on Arden. A worthy new entrant is here to serve this niche, and my initial impression is that it's the best Carribean restaurant yet in Sacto. Let's hope it lasts! Carribean Breeze Cuisine Restaurant is quite a mouthful to say. I'm not sure if both "Cuisine" and "Restaurant" are truly part of their official name, but on their colorful vinyl banner that they've draped over the old sign for Oh Taste & See! (R.I.P., spring 2012), these seemingly superfluous words appear in the same font, color, and type-size as "Carribean Breeze". I hope they intend to get a real light-up sign soon because it's hard to grab the attention of the passing traffic on this stretch of Stockton Boulevard. It would also help improve their visibility if they'd cut that unkempt hedge down between its parking lot and Thrift Town to half its height. Once you're inside, Carribean Breeze is much more attractive than Oh Taste & See! ever was. The old dust and chicken grease has apparently been scrubbed from the floors and walls, and it gleams more brightly than you'd ever expect and plays nicely against the brand-new vinyl booth upholstery and newly custom-sewn curtains, tablecloths, and napkins which alternate in vaguely nautical shades of blue and yellow. It may not look like much from the street, but someone surely put a lot of work into making this place look nice inside. But how's the food, you ask? The food I've tried has been excellent on all counts. After long deliberations to consider choosing curried goat or jerk pork, I ordered the pork. And I'm not entirely sure that jerk pork is what I got. It tasted remarkably like what I'd expect from the curried goat. But whatever I ate, it was fantastically flavorful, and texturally, it was delectably delicate. The meat atop my girlfriend's jerk chicken salad was drier and char-grilled, but it was also tasty. In the produce department, the salad itself was at least a full cut above the quality of a garden salad at a typical restaurant. Some darker-leafed spring greens would certainly be a welcome improvement, but it's a satisfying salad as is. My entree was served with fried plantains and a fluffy and fulsome scoop of beans and rice which I would enjoy on its own. Our entrees took a little bit longer than expected to come out, but fortunately, we were able to pass the time over an order of the crabcake appetizer. The crabcakes were comparable to others I've had at fancy seafood restaurants from Marin County to the Puget Sound to down-home places in Baltimore, the holy ground of crabcakes. Even as you pronged 'em with your fork and dunked them in the sweet and sour sauce, the breading was substantial enough to keep the crabcakes intact. No ingredient interfered much with the flavor and texture of the crab meat. The menu for dinner is plenty strong with about eight entrees centering on chicken, pork, goat, or fish, and better half a dozen appetizers. Entrees range from $8.95 up to only $10.95. There's a full slate of island soft drinks seldom seen elsewhere such as Vita Malt and Ting. However, the menu offers nothing especially for lunch. My most urgent suggestion for Carribean Breeze besides improving its sign and sightlines from Stockton Boulevard is to create a separate lunch menu. I reckon that if you sandwiched any of the meats on the dinner menu between two pieces of bread, you'd have the beginnings of a great and satisfying sandwich that can be sold for $5 or $6 and create viral word-of-mouth among connoisseurs. Our meals came with dinner rolls which were supremely soft and fresh, and if they made sandwich rolls that retained those attributes, surely that be some of the best bread to grace any sandwich at this price point besides the bahn mi at Duc Huong further down Stockton Boulevard. Other suggestions I'd offer to this restaurant: (A) improve the quickness a little bit, (B) watch the thermostat temp (it was a little too chilly in there at first, but they turned up the thermostat after we'd been there awhile), (C) get a filtered water system so that you don't hafta give everyone bottled water, and (d) just be comfortable being yourself. The gentleman who welcomed and served us was very kind, but he seemed a little bit nervous. Now, my suggestion to you: Give this place a try!

Ahhh, where should I start? I am fairly new to Sacramento and I've been craving Jamaican food for a while. After many attempts to find a place that serves authentic Jamaican food I finally stumbled upon this place. I read the bright reviews and the word "Authentic" kept appearing. I was hopeful! Heck, I was excited! Let me state that I spent time in Jamaica. My in laws (well, ex in laws) are Jamaican which means my ex is Jamaican. I say the previous statement to make clear that I have an understanding of what authentic Jamaican food tastes like. Well, let me start with the positive. The place was clean. Not at all fancy but clean. The gentleman whom I assume owns the place was kind. The stew chicken was tasty. Authentic? My observation is this, the rice and peas was less than thrilling and cold. (Sorry). The plantains were hard and the meal was served with a tossed salad which isn't very true to culture. As a matter of fact I've never had salad served with my Jamaican meals. It normally comes with cabbage. The stew chicken was tasty but unlike any stew chicken that I've ever had. The menu was tiny. The meal in itself was disappointing. Whats more disappointing is that in all of Sacramento, this was the only answer to my question of "Authentic Jamaican Cuisine". Maybe I went on a bad day? Maybe, just maybe I was expecting too much? Once I get over my disappointment I will give it another try....MAYBE! Like the saying goes..even a broken clock is right twice. ( maybe I will get lucky the 2nd time around?)

Do NOT eat here. The food is disgusting, and we had to wait almost an hour for our food. On top of that, the owner is extremely rude! He had a very nasty attitude and raised his voice at us several times for no reason at all! I would not recommend this place!

Food was so great specially the Jamaican goat curry that I sure recommend that you try. The Jamaican jerk chicken curry that my wife had was delicious too.

This place is a definite little hole in the wall, but with awesome unique food, and a friendly owner who basically did everything himself - cooking, serving, cleaning. I ordered the jerk pork, and it was so so SO good. Great flavor with some kick to it. In fact, the spice built and I ended up mixing some in with the rice and beans to cool my mouth down. Speaking of which, red beans and rice were very tasty too, especially considering that's usually such a bland side dish. Meal also came with some hot-out-of-the-oven rolls. Slathered some butter on those and they were incredible. My friend got the oxtails, and he really enjoyed them. He let me try one and I was not a big fan. But I've never had oxtails, so I won't hold it against Caribbean Breeze. Pricing was completely reasonable too, less than $10 apiece if I remember correctly. Portions were medium, plenty to fill me up without needing a doggie bag. We were here around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't crowded at all. Service was prompt, but I could see how it might slow down if it got busy, as I only saw the one guy doing everything. If you want something delicious and different from the usual fare, Caribbean Breeze is a great bet.

I went to Caribbean Breeze tonight for dinner. First off, the service was awesome. It wasn't busy and the two younger girls and older man that were there were very cheerful and friendly. I ordered the jerk chicken, which came with a salad, rice and peas, and watermelon. I LOVE Caribbean food and although this was less of a hole in the wall place than where I am used to, the food was awesome. The salad was very fresh, warm rolls were great. The best part was the jerk chicken - not only was it the best jerk chicken I've had, but it may have been the best chicken I've had period. It was moist and tender and amazing. I'm docking a star because for the price I wish there was more and my rice and peas were too dry. But that chicken... oh my goodness I will be back.

For a Caribbean restaurant in Sacramento I have to say this place is not bad at all. I am half Jamaican and this place hit the spot for me since I never get real Caribbean food unless I'm on the east coast visiting family. The menu is small but it has the essentials like jerk chicken, curry goat, oxtail, etc. the portion sizes are not as so huge as American standard but one entree is still filling enough for one person but without leftovers to take home. The service was very friendly and attentive. It's definitely worth a try.

Place only been open since last Aug. Came here for lunch with my family. There was a table of two. This place was ran by a couple. The husband set up a table of 6 for us. It was nice of them to not give us tab water... I had order crab cake, beef Pattie, stuff mushroom, jerk chicken, jerk pork and ox tail. Warm bread n butter was brought out to the table. Follow by our green salad that comes with our meal. Order of crab cakes comes n a order of 3. Kind of spicy. I had better. Beef patty.. Its OK nothing super good bout it. Stuff mushroom.... super fail..stuffing wasn't good. I think it would of been better if the had it on a whole mushroom instead of a large mushroom thats been cut into four pieces... Jerk Chicken was dry.. Took me a min to chew n swallow. Had to wash it down with my water. Jerk pork.. It was OK but I thought it had just a tab bit of black pepper.. There bean rice was yummy. O Yes.. There beef ox tail.. That was the best dish I had here. The sauce went really well with the rice and beans. It wasn't under cook r over cook. Perfect! If it wasn't for that I think in would of gave them two. Services was great and great ox tail bring them one star up... Note: If you don't have time to wait this isn't the place to b..l

You can NEVER go wrong with Caribbean Breeze! Vincent is a pleasure and ALWAYS worth the travel there from the North. Portions are made to order AND very generous! !! Every meal comes with a side salad, HOT bread & plantains. While escovitch fish is my fav, its always hard to choose from the oxtails, curry goat & jerk chicken. So, I always bring a family member or friend that way I can dip in their plate(s). Then, while I usually have leftovers due to large portions, if I share, it's almost impossible for me NOT to order at least a pattie or even full plate of something i didnt order at that meal, to go.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE. NOT TRUE CARIBBEAN CUISINE. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY OR GAS. The chicken was dry and flavorless. Not Jamaican jerk anything. The rose and "peas" were just mixed steamed rice and pinto beans. For those who don't know "rice and peas" are made with black beans and coconut milk. The only thing true about any of the BOGUS REVIEWS is that the older gentleman is quite nice, but nice don't make good food.

First: the place is very clean and the staff is really nice. They are superfrindly and tell you everything about the dishes. I had the Jamaican curry and it was alright. I never had Jamaican food and don't know how it has to be. The dish wasn't really my taste but I finished it and it was something new. All in all: solid place

I have made a rule for myself to not review after only one visit to an establishment, but for this I am changing that to bad reviews only--because I am jazzed about this place and I want to testify. Next to Thrift Town on Stockton. A little hard to find since they do not have a a big sign--at the moment, look for a big white glowing blank sign. Hella quiet when we walked in, but by the time we left, they were about half full, which in this tiny space seems pretty hoppin, and they were getting calls from people asking location and hours, so they seem to have at least some business. Service was good, not blazing fast and not yet the smoothness that comes with long term restaurant staff, but no long waits and the folks were super nice. The dude who cooks also assisted with service and had those service manners I have experienced in the Caribbean--very formal and british influenced. Water could use a lemon to cut the chlorine taste (or I could have asked for a soda), but if you are in this part of town to begin with you are not bitching about every little funky thing. FOOD: Excellent. Lots of it. Well priced. Your $8-11 gets you a salad, hot whole grain rolls, and what seemed like an immense plate of food. I got 4 pieces of brown stew chicken with gravy and assorted stew vggies, some rice and peas, some plantains, watermelon and pineapple. I didn't finish my rice and waddled out as full as I have ever been. I have had better brown stew chicken in my life, but that was in a place with huge population of caribbean people. Still, I loved this, it was excellent, chicken fell of bone, no knife needed. Homie had jerk chicken and got a similar plate, minus the gravy and I think it may have been three pieces of chicken. Grilled, nicely charred. He's a big man and was totally groaning full. The jerk was fab. Not as spicyhot as some but with that lovely flavor that makes it JERK and not just a random spicy rub. Fantastic. I look forward to working my way through their menu in upcoming weeks, I basically just started at the top. Here's hoping I don't have to edit this, but I have a feeling I'll remain happy with this place. This space has already lost two restaurants in recent years, so if you like Caribbean food, go on down and support these guys so we don't lose them too.

Weird thing is, I actually enjoy walking into modest restaurants (as long as they have positive reviews). I feel like I'm discovering a secret treasure! The place was empty. While waiting for our food, the chef turned on music and the speakers were a bit rattly. The waitress was very sweet. I ordered the jerk chicken plate and my friend had the ox tail stew. My jerk chicken was fall-off-the-bone, tender and juicy and had so much flavor. The jerk rub wasn't too overwhelming. It came with a salad (which was a little soggy, but I didn't mind it since I wanted to save my appetite for the main course). Asked us four different times if we wanted to box the salad.. To the point where I was about to awkwardly oblige. I managed a "sorry" as I awkwardly handed her the salad. The chicken plate came with a side of bean-rice, plantains, and a couple slices of apple. Even though the chicken was so good, I wasnt able to finish it. My friend enjoyed his ox tail, but it has too many tendons for my liking. After our meal we talked briefly with the waitress. She shared the cool fact that about 90% of their customers have found the restaurant through Yelp. I'm very glad that Yelp can help little businesses prosper!

Today, Dec 13, 2014 my wife and I stopped by for lunch. I am Jamaican and do appreciate great cuisine. When we walked in, we noticed the setup which is comforting and peaceful. But the first thing that caught my attention is the lack of any food cooking aroma or for that matter, any Caribbean food preparation smell. The one man show was very courteous and quite nice and attentive. On the web site the food looked amazing, and though I prefer to cook myself, I decided to give this establishment a try because of ratings /menu on Internet/ pictures of dishes. I ordered curry goat and beef patty, while my wife asked for jerk chicken. The salad was brought out promptly and included oven warmed rolls that look and taste like the kind you buy in bulk at local food warehouse depending on brand, I know and can tell. Once the meals came out, they were not piping hot but appeared and tasted warmed up, to include the beef patty that you can buy in the freezer section of the local food warehouse and warm in the oven. I was embarrassed that someone with roots and culture from Carribean placed warmed up food on my plate. To add to this bad dish, the jerk chicken had obvious additional seasoning added during the warming process that made it taste more like HEAVY season salt than anything from Carribean. Fresh cooked to order or first prep in the morning is a demand for anyone who is in the restaurant business. And the man attending to us actually asked why I didn't eat all the beef patty and asked if I was just tasting? I politely said, "no I just didn't want to eat any more." I highly recommend all Jamaican meals are taken off this menu and stick with an all encompassing "Caribbean cuisine." This is not Jamaican cuisine nor prepared in such a manner. Food should always be cooked to order or prepped in a manner for final cooking being obtained upon customer ordering their meal. Waiting 15 - 30 minutes is normal for cooked food and I certainly wouldn't mind the wait as long as food is freshly prepared the day I place order.

I want to give this place more stars, but for right now, I'll stick with 3 (maybe 3.5). I was really excited to try caribbean food, as I have never had it before. All I knew coming in, was that I HAD to try jerk chicken, because in essence that is what Caribbean food is known for. Unfortunately, they were out of the jerk chicken! Damn. I'll probably have to come back another time. The jerk pork was okay, but just a lot of fat that I could not eat. The stuffed mushroom app wasn't too great. The mushrooms seemed a bit over cooked and chewy. However, the oxtail was really good though. Definitely worth trying again. The owner/chef was really really nice. And he is probably why I would come back. he was very accommodating and very apologetic about the unavailable items. He did throw in an extra salad and rice plate(as there were three of us and we decided to only share amongst two entrees). I hope to come back and finally try the chicken and give an update on this spot.

Good food! We came here for the oxtails and were not disappointed. The meat is tender, almost melt in your mouth kind. The sauce, could use a bit more salt but the flavor was there. We ordered food to go and the aroma of the food in the car made us want to rush home. Portion size was good - oxtail stew with a number of pieces, enough amount of sauce to savor with the two cups of rice and beans, fried plantains and a side salad. Salad was better than I expected. It was composed of mixed greens and tomatoes. And they let you choose the dressing. Rice had good flavor, even if you just eat it by itself. But putting the sauce on top makes it even better. The tomato flavor of the sauce and the flavor the beans and rice meld well together. I'd definitely be back to try the other items on their menu. I'm just glad there's finally a carribean restaurant in Sac!

They were celebrating thier one year anniversary and the placed was packed with regulars and newbies. After a wait, I had the curry chicken plate and a sweet potato pie to go and wished I had ordered more from the reduced menu that day. The chicken had been slow cooked in the curry accompanied by some red beans and rice and fried plantains. Everything was wonderful, the curry sauce was to salivate for more so you could cover the large portion of rice and red beans and even your finger. The jerk pork is suppose to be very yummy..... next time

I was in Sacramento this weekend and came upon this restaurant via Yelp. Read the reviews and decided to gamble since we have no Jamaican food in San Francisco worth going to. I placed an order over the phone before checking out of the hotel so I can pick it up & bring it home. The owner/cook was a one man show as expressed by a previous Yelper. He was indeed nice and I really wanted to like this food but it was nothing special and I would not go back. I ordered Jerk chicken and oxtails. There were 3 small pieces of chicken and the ond of the drumstick was chopped off, I've never seen that before. There was no flavor to the chicken, no heat, no nothing. This is the first time there was no coconut essence in my rice & peas, the plantains was the best thing going but all you do is cut it and throw it in some hot grease, so there's really no way of screwing that up. I asked for extra jerk sauce which I watched him put in a little container but he forgot to put it in the bag. $10.95 The oxtails were tender but again lacking in taste. Authentic? Not! It was really sweet which I'm not use to. $12.95 I cater and jerk chicken is one of my specialties. I'm not Jamaican but I bet you mine rates 10 on a scale of 1-5.

YUMMY!! I'm Haitian and was sad to see Celestin go. Thankfully Caribbean Breeze is here to get my island food fix! The beef patty was just like Krusteaz :) We've had the oxtail and Island chicken repeatedly and always DELICIOUS! Highly recc'd!

It's a small whole in the wall restaurant but it is delicious! made me feel like i was back in Jamaica. All food comes with rice & peas & plantains yummy!! I had the beef Jamaican patty and the Oxtail stew. Everything was really good. I will definitely be coming back here with friends.

One of the most welcoming restaurant owners I've ever encountered. He was all smiles with his customers. I walked up to the counter and ordered the Stew Oxtail to-go, he quickly offered me a seat at an empty table. That was very nice. The place looked clean with pleasant interior colors. I liked how the table settings matched the colors of the wall. I watched him serve the only table dining in, and I must say, he served with manners, if that made sense. Anyways, the Stew Oxtail was fall-off-the-bones tender, but too salty for my taste, though that's not his fault because I eat light. Loved the fried plantain and fluffy rice that came with it. I asked him for a couple of dinner rolls, and he replied with a wink and a smile, "Sure, give me a minute and I'll make it nice and warm for you." :) I would love to come back and try the Jerk Chicken next time.

I really wanted Mexican yesterday and was not very excited when my boyfriend recommended Jamaican food...something I had never tried before but I went along hoping for a new restaurant that we could add onto our list of "go-to's" oh my, oh my, oh my! First off driving onto Stockton Blvd is a journey in itself, it took a minute to find the exact location which was next to a local thrift shop and surrounded by the hustle and bustle of that particular street. If you are native to Sacramento though you must also know that Stockton has so many hidden hole in the wall treasures that alomost any restaurant on that block deserves the benefit of the doubt. Once you walk inside, you are greeted with the sound s of reggae music and the smiling host/chef urging you to come in. A HUGE PLUS FOR ME. We sat and there was a dessert menu already on the table, I lunged for it before my babes could. I yearned for the almond pound cake and thought I might order it after the meal. I started off with a jamaican creme soda that was the BOMB! Then we were presented with hot, sweet dinner rolls and butter that were gone before he even set them down. Salad came with the meal, and we both had a balsamic vinagrette which was amazing, I don't know if he made it himself but it was good! For our entrees, the boyfriend had the oxtail stew and I of course tried the jerk chicken. Both were served with rice and beans, some strips of friend plantains and two slices of oranges. The portions were perfect, both meats were so moist and delicious, with a tinge of heat. MOUTH WATERING! I left feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. The owner I could tell anticipated our expressions, and I am sure he was pleased as I was scraping up every last morsel off of my plate, and unbuttoning my pants. I din't have room for dessert regrettably but I will have some to go next time He shook our hands before we left, thanking us for stopping in, but the pleasure was all on our side. Carribean Breeze is definitely a new favorite. It has not even opened up for a year yet, so for anyone craving for a carribean food experience support this local hole in the wall and ENJOY!

Jerk chicken and the fish were pretty good, red beans/rice and plantains were a bonus! Unfortunately, they are not equipt to serve a large group so several in our group waited a long time for their meals.

My husband found this place on Yelp; He came home with the Ox Tail Stew and Jerk Chicken. with some Crab cakes. The Ox Tails and Chicken were on point, so much flavor but not too much, very balanced. The sweet Plantains in each dish were a nice kicker. The Crab cakes were too moist, could be because they were done and in the containers waiting for the rest of the food and then the car ride home, although only a few blocks. The side salad and red beans and rice were also good. Especially with the leftover juice from the main dishes mixed in, mmmmm. A little pricey: $32 for the two dishes and the cakes. Definitely going to try more, though.

My friends and I found this place via Yelp when we were looking for a lunch spot on the way home from Tahoe. This place was great! It is small and very simply decorated, yet very clean. The owner greeted us and was very attentive. The menu was small, but with all the traditional dishes. I had the curried goat and my friends had the jerk chicken and a fish entree. The goat had amazing flavor and was so tender. It was served with rice and beans and a salad. Both my friends also thought their dishes were delicious. I am keeping this as my go to spot for my travels to and from Tahoe! I would definitely recommend this place!

I hate to be the first person to write a bad review for this business but someone has to do it. The main reason why I even decide to try this restaurant out was because of the Jamaican beef patty and it disappointed me so bad. 1. - The decor of this place I would consider ghetto. I was surprised that they had Cable TV. 2. - I ordered the Jerk Wings, so bad. The chicken tasted boiled then drenched in some weird Jamaican Marinade. The Beef patty had at best a decent texture but the stuffing on the inside had some weird bean/beef thing going on which was very disappointing (I've been to Miami where I had my first JBP so I set the bar kind of high for this place). 3. I then ordered the House Special Fish with White Lemon Sauce. The fish was half way friend and the sauce didn't nothing for the plate. The rice and beans tasted like someone from G Parkway making Zatarains. Plantains I thought were going to be good but even that came out soft and chewy, terrible texture. The Mushrooms, Crabcakes, and Chicken Soup was not available to order at the time ( Thank God It's nice they give you Bread and Butter but everything was very sad. I really enjoy food, especially if it's a low budget family owned place trying to showcase the world their menu but this is a place I would not come back to.

This restaurant opened only a week ago; as u can see the address is not complete because I don't know the exact address; only the street name, the nearest cross street is Fruitridge; me and my friend decided to dine here after the movie Sparkle..my friend chose not to eat anything (no popcorn, etc.) to prevent from spoiling her appetite..her stomach was growling throughout the movies.lol..well on to my rating...when I parked, I noticed someone staring from the inside anxiously waiting for a customer I assumed because when we walked inside the restaurant it was empty, not one customer. We were greeted and seated.the owner is from St. Thomas, he was very friendly and nice.I ordered the Oxtails in tomato sauce and my friend ordered the jerk chicken. (salad, peas and rice, plaintains, a slice of pineapple and hot rolls come with your entree).I had a beef patty also as an appetizer..the patty was spicy the way I like it...the Oxtails were sooooo tender and season to perfection..the tomato sauce didn't over power the Oxtails..it was delicious..the best Oxtails I've ever had..I tasted a bite of my friend's jerk chicken and it was really good also..tender, juicy with the right amount of spice..please stop by and give them a try.we have plans to go back next Friday to try their fish..the dessert was the only reason that I didn't give them 5 stars..we ordered the cream cheese pound cake with Caramel glaze...upon taking my first bite, I experienced a frost bite taste and the cake was ice cold..the taste was not pleasant..the only way I can describe it is when you leave food uncovered in the refrigerator and eat it later...I asked for a to-go box since I paid for it..well if you are in the neighborhood, stop by..the are located next to Jimboys and across from Kmart...their entrees are delicious and their prices are affordable.

So my daughter has been spending a lot of time with her grandmother and uncle and for the past few weeks she has been asking them about this chocolate cake so I had ask my brother to bring me this cake that my daughter is in love with. So he finally brings home this famous cake and I notice my daughter buzzing around of course that's whats 3 year old do right. So I turn my back for a few minutes cleaning. When I finally head back for my cake; a job well done, ;-) I can't find it :-|. there I am looking for my chocolate cake and my brother walks in saying I got your cake all of a sudden my daughter says "No my chocolate cake" excuse me. I go to where my daughter is at and there she is with cake crumbs all over her face and she just puts the last piece of cake in her mouth. Its one thing to steal my cake that I've been waiting for days to try and if your going to steal my cake you can at least save me a piece right. Least to say I was mad and my brother thought it was halarious. So the next day my brother took me to this little restraunt that you never would of seen if you where driving unless you where paying really close attention. Located across the street from K-Mart. So not knowing anything about caribbean food I was in the mood for fish and had ordered the pan fish I believe it was called and my brother knowing what he wanted ordered the oxtail he told them to put oxtail gravy on the rice and peas remember you must request this.Whoa the plate was so big that the hostest had brought my fish on it own separate plate and it covered half of the surface the plate. The fish was so good cooked just right it melted in my mouth. The rice and peas where good as well I very much enjoyed it. Then being the good sister that I am I had to taste my brothers plate just to make sure it wasn't poision. I thought I was in love before with the fish I've never heard of oxtail before but I know one thing for sure they deffinatly need to add more oxtail items to the menu. Now I understand the oxtail gravy on the rice and peas it enhanced the whole flavor. MMM MMM good. So hear I am getting full and I have to remember what I came here for "CHOCOLATE CAKE" so I had to leave room for desert. And finally I got my chocolate cake well chocolate cream cake to be exact. And it was so good and this is very sad to say me being a mother but I understand why my daughter stole my cake. But this is a very happy ending for a tale that started in tragedy. Now I have my cake a new favorite restaurant and Caribbean Breeze has a new faithful customer. I can't wait til they have their grand opening.

Very well done food, I have ordered the curry chicken, jerk chicken very good moist chicken. beans and rice very good not spicy enough for my taste. Plantains come with the meal also very Delicious. Food size is very good you will be satisfied. Beef patties are hit and miss since they make from scratch. Some are seasoned good and some a little to spicy. Overall a good place to eat. Defiantly good to have some variety in the area that is heavy with Asian and Mexican joints.

Yelp brought me in to this little spot around lunchtime and I will say right off the bat it is worth a special trip from Rocklin! Not an abundance of island food around but this is all you will need. Was greeted when I went in by Vincent, who said he was the owner, chef, dishwasher, etc. Bright and clean setting is nothing fancy but it certainly says they care about the place. I always like to ask for a recommendation in new restaurants, and I qualified it by saying "I like anything!". Without hesitating he recommended the jerk chicken which I suppose wasn't surprising since it is a signature dish. Came with a super fresh, crispy salad, cold and refreshing with Italian dressing and a couple wheat rules. Must have been hungry because I gobbled it up. The jerk chicken came with 4 chicken legs, a mound of rice and beans, and several slices of fried plantains. The chicken was so flavorful and so tender it came right off the bone. I can take a lot of heat so I would say the spice level was very mild with only a slight kick. But there was so much flavor...it was perfect. The rice and beans were also very flavorful with some seasoning unique to their style of cooking. And the plantains were such a nice complement. The portion was just right. I cleaned my plate completely and though dessert crossed my mind decided that would have to wait for another time. Vincent said he hasn't been there very long and I wish him mad success as I want to eat there again and again. He was very personable, friendly and funny.

This restaurant is located at 5015 Stockton BL. It is nestled between Thrift Town and Jimboys. A friend and I decided to stop in and grab a bite to eat after taking in a movie. We stopped in around maybe 4pm on a Saturday and the joint was empty. That was a little unnerving but hey, they are newly opened so we didn't let that stop Us. Upon entering we were greeted by a older gentleman with a distinct caribbean accent (ok, good so there is some authenticity here.) We were seated and given menus. My friend ordered a Jamaican Beed patty as an appetizer; this was really good and spicy. I would go back for the beef patty alone. I wanted to order the crab stuffed mushrooms but was told they were not finish preparing the stuffing :( ok, I'll take the crab cakes..no, those are prepared with the same stuffing..at that point I gave up on appetizers. We were served piping hot rolls that were pretty tasty, mother salad and dressing were nothing special, no special dressing or anything but that didn't bother me because I came for the actual food. I ordered the Jerk Chicken; this came with traditional rice and peas and fried plantain. The chicken was well seasoned and very good! I personally would have liked my jerk chicken to have a little more kick to it but it was still very good. The rice and peas as well as the plantain were right on point as well! My fiend ordered the Jamaican Ox Tails and upon the arrival of her plate I instantly got a case of plate envy..LOL! Her plate was full of tender oxtails with potatoes and carrots also served with rice and peas and plantain. I had a bite of her oxtails and I mean they were GOOD! I knew that the next visit I would get the oxtails. We were so impressed with the food that we made plans right then to come back Friday! They give you a lot of food as well and the prices are very reasonable! We spent a total of about $25 for both meals. Ok, now we are sitting there stuffed but decided that we MUST try the Almond & cream cheese pound cake. We ordered one slice to share. The waiter brings out a pretty hefty slice of cake, we both dug in and right away we looked at each other with a look of...uh, oh! The cake was very cold and tasted as if it had been sitting in the frig uncovered and had taken on some of the tastes of other items in the frig (not cool). I'm looking forward to going back and trying other entrees but I thiink I will skip desert on my next trip.

The food here is authentic and delicious! I've had the jerk chicken, the oxtail stew, and the almond pound cake and they all exceeded my expectations. The rice and beans are fluffy like a cloud and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. This is definitely one of my top go-to restaurants.

On a whim decided to stop in and were really impressed. Amazing food - we had jerk chicken and it just fell off the bone perfectly, red beans and rice, plantains. Warm rolls served with butter. Yum. Authentic food, friendly staff, clean breezy atmosphere. Owner clearly putting alot of hard work into his restaurant.
