It's all about the service, folks. We waited 5 minutes at a table for a menu and to even be acknowledged!! No, it wasn't that crowded. The happy hour menu was nice and the food was pretty good but the service clouded everything. The waiter was arrogant, not at all pleasant and even dropped the credit card on the floor when the check was returned to us. They had a heck of a time finding it. The decor is lovely and I really want to dig this place but what a terrible experience in a day when there are so many other great places who actually want my business!

Came here to meet some friends but wasn't very hungry. Got the pork belly. Holy Crap. Get that for sure.

We had a yummy dinner and great glasses of wine. Server was a bit full of himself but owner was absolutely charming. We started with the trio of bruschetta and then I had the hamburger (probably the best hamburger I have had in years) and my husband had the Mac and cheese, which was also delicious. Our daughter acts with Sacramento theatre company so we will be back frequently. Great setting and yummy food/wine. A real treat in midtown!

This place is way cool! I ended up here on a Wednesday night on a mission to go wine shopping, and was very pleasantly surprised by the $10 tasting night. So, on Wednesdays, you pay $10, get a glass and have the option of tasting 4 different wines that are being featured. The bonus? Lots of regulars, lots of talk, and it's a really great way to expand your palate. There was a fantastic cheese plate that was out for the tasters as well, which I thought was a great touch. The restaurant/bar is only loosely separate from the wine shop itself, so you can sip your wine and look around at their wares. The wines they carry range from not so expensive to very much so, and the quality is excellent. The food looked spectacular. Next time I go, I want a meal. Staff were very friendly, helpful in their suggestions, and someone gave me an extra pour of my favorite wine!

Oh my. This is an adorable little date night spot or just hanging out with the girls/guys! The atmosphere is really fun and inviting. I love that you can dress up and not feel out of place! I love little gems like this! In a cute little spot on midtown, you'll definitely enjoy the wine options, beer choices, and the 3 choice bread bruschetta appetizer is just delicious!!! Holy cow. Really delicious. It is pricey so you definitely have to ration, but a must try.

Great place for a light meal and wine. Parking a little difficult, found valet down the street for $10. Was able to walk in at 5:45 pm and became crowded after that time. Wine selection was interesting more international with surprisingly few Napa selections, only one Cabernet Sauvignon thus the 4 stars. The wine I had was great, started with a sparkling from Ca north coast with cheese plate, followed by pork bellies and a flank steak/hanger steak all of which were excellent and deserved 5 stars. Wife and I split the meal full bottle of sparkling, additional glass of wine with appetizers and meal for under $100 which I consider a great value over a two hour dinner. For an interesting wine selection, quaint ambiance and light meal I highly recommend.

We have been here twice and both times it was for a private event. They have a beautiful private dining room that is very comfortable and inviting. Food was delicious and service was excellent! Thanks!

Went here for Happy hour with some friends and was not disappointed. Love the atmosphere and seating. The bartender/server was very friendly and prompt. Decided on the Viogner and Shiraz off of the happy hour menu and they were delicious. We decided on small plates: chicken lollipops, flat bread, petite burger, and the four cheese mini mac and all of them were fresh and tasty. Stayed for a few hours and the service there was the right mixture of leaving us be, yet there at the right times. Definitely my favorite place to go for happy hour now. This place is truly a must try!

When 58 Degrees opened it was a very necessary spot in Sacramento. The city needed a trendy wine bar/wine shop that had servers that actually understood wine and had places to store wine for collectors. The ambiance was nice, the food was light, but flavorful, and the crowd was pleasant. All these years later, 58 Degrees still holds up and even with several new spots in Sacramento, 58 Degrees still comes out near the top for fresh food and good wine - and a wine shop. The wine selection varies from time to time and is easily arranged from lighter to heavier wines so that even a complete novice can order something that they would like. The food selections are generally designed to compliment different wines, and they definitely play second fiddle to the beverages - which should be your focus for going here. The attention is on flavors. The food is designed to bring out the individual flavors of the ingredients and allow you to enjoy how the wines taste. If you've had a big lunch and want a light to medium sized dinner and some good wine, this is a smart choice. If you want a glass of wine and bite-sized food to go with it, again, this is a good spot. If you want brunch and a glass of wine, good spot. If you don't know what wine to order, talk to your servers and they'll help you decide. If you're looking for a huge, Claim-Jumper or Cheesecake Factory sized entrée with some wine on the side, you might be disappointed. 58 Degrees is also a wine shop and the selection is above and beyond your typical grocery store shelf. If you've had a good wine on the wine bar side, you can stroll into the shop afterwards and buy a bottle (or three) if it. The wine shop is a good place to buy a special wine for a gift as well and they're always bringing in new imports and also stocking local producers.

The food was delicious. I got the steak which was so tender and savory. My boyfriend got the potbelly and the flavors were incredible! I definitely wanted his meal. They were a little short staffed and I wished they would have recommended a wine with my dinner but I chose a Malbec. It was all delicious!

Tried this place out with a colleague and really liked it. He's a wine aficionado, and enjoyed tasting pours from their extensive menu. The wine menu is a little pricey, but if you love good wine and are up for a worldwide tasting adventure from the comfort of Midtown, this is the place. For me, while I like wine, I really like happy hour. Kudos to 58 Degrees for putting together the best wine bar happy hour I've found in town. (Revolution, which I also love, needs to step up here - they have wine specials but the food is still regular price, making for very expensive happy hour). 58 Degrees has a few wines on the happy hour menu, I tried two and enjoyed them both. They also have 3 for $10 small plates, which we shared. The food was delicious, high quality, and complemented the wine. The portions aren't huge, but the price tag wasn't either. The vibe was just right for a Sacramento wine bar, and the servers were very knowledgeable about the different wines and regions.

Food is amazing..Chef FJ is creative and consistent with all of the deliscious food that's on the menu. Mac and Cheese is to die for, Hangar steak is wonderful. In addition I've never had a bad bottle of wine to compliment my meal! 58 is definitely my top 5 places to dine!

Incredible. Truly some of the best food in Sacramento. Amazing atmosphere and good service. I had the steak frites which was very flavorful and good size. Also had the ahi tartare, to die for! Highly recommend.

Recently went to 58 Degrees & Holding Co on a trip to Sacramento to see my friend who was leaving the state. I wanted New American food and she had suggested this place. First off, I am not a big drinker, so i can't speak to their wine selection. Plus we were there for an early lunch so only water....sorry guys... But otherwise, the food was very good!!!! We ordered their Duck Confit and their Smoked Salmon egg benedict. The salmon was good but not great. I was very satisfied with it though. Egg was perfectly good and the salmon was tasty. I had assumed that the salmon was going to come smoked and cold but it came smoked and cooked a little. Regardless good dish. The duck confit however was amazing. Super succulent and melts in your mouth good!! Plus it was relatively cheap (no more than $15 if memory serves me right) . and this is why it was amazing! for what you pay for, it was amazing. 58 Degrees & Holding Co. is a place i'd go back to. It's also in a super nice location with lots of ecliptic restaurants in the heart of Midtown. Midtown Sacto has really grown up over the last 5-10 years. Lots of new trendy places to be and 58 degrees is one of them.

DO NOT MISS THE MAC N CHEESE (unless you're lactose intolerant) met a friend here on a lazy Wednesday afternoon. People were milling about meeting friends, meeting colleagues before meetings (I talk with talked with these kind strangers because it's that kind of relaxed place) HAPPY HOUR (4-6) House Wines $6 Bar Bites $6-10 PROs: nice bathroom (this is important to me) comfy couches and bar stools, kind staff CONs: not lots of food options, it's a wine bar.

Sunday is a Funday here! $15 off a bottle of wine on Sunday is such a great deal. It's about the only time I'll order wine out because I think it's grossly overpriced for the most part. Our waiter told us that they don't require guests to order food, but they want them too to make it worth their while. Honestly, I'm totally cool with that because the atmosphere is so relaxing, I want to hang out and drink and snack! I met here with some Yelp friends for Book Club and it really was the perfect place. The lighting is a little dark and romantic, and the light music makes for a great spot to have a conversation. We had a really yummy Cab and also split a Rose in addition to some Irish cow's milk cheeses. The fig jam was the perfect addition to crispy crostini and flavorful cheeses. I didn't sample the charcuterie plate on this visit but it looked like generous portions and everyone seemed to enjoy it! Our waiter was extremely attentive, and also really entertaining, he made our afternoon even better! I can't wait to go back!

We were in the neighborhood for an event and passed by this place while in a long line to check-in. The women gravitated to it for ac and wine initially in a 100 degree plus heat in line. After our event we came back to enjoy some air conditioning and wine afterward and we were glad we did. The atmosphere was nice. The staff is witty and personable, especially having to deal with people who already pre-gamed before coming into their establishment. They had a great selection of wine and beer. Stop in and enjoy this place!

My favorite part of 58 Degrees & Holding Co. is the atmosphere. I come from a Portuguese background, and enjoying a good red is as easy to me as breathing. Some places, however, have a distinctly stuffy, fussy, stiff feel that directly messes with one's ability to relax and enjoy libations. Not so at this location. As soon as I walked through the door for UYE Book Club's first meeting, I felt welcomed. Our server was casual, in a good way, if not a bit awkward at times. I'm a bit awkward too, though, so I didn't mind. He kind of looked like a nerdy cousin of Hugh Grant so that helped his case, too. I appreciated his summary of the wines; we tried a Cab and a Sparkling Rose. It was also a nice touch that he poured for us and let us taste before filling our glasses. The napkin tied around the bottle to catch drips was ingenious, too. Our cheese plate with fruit, date jam, and nuts hit the spot as well. Served with mini sliced baguette, it was the perfect companion to wine and discussion among my fellow book lovers. Cozy chairs and couches in the back corner are definitely worth claiming as soon as you get here. There's outdoor and bar seating too, if it please you, but I think I have a new cozy corner earmarked for the next time I'm feeling a glass of wine, with or without company.

58 degrees is alright, but I would rather go to Block Butcher. With that said, this review is for a visit on a Friday after 7 pm. The wine is average $10 per glass so you're better off buying a bottle. We did! For $30 we got a Barbera bottle from Italy. It was tasty and everyone got at least two glasses worth. The staff walk by re-pouring wine when you order a bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie plate ($12) and 3 cheeses ($14). There was lots of meats, pate, nuts, jelly and fruits. The cheeses were disappointing. Literally just 2 inch squares of each. When you run out of bread they bring you more. We also ordered dessert. The flourless chocolate cake ($6) it was more bitter than sweet, but we liked it. The ambience fluctuates. When we arrived at 7 pm the place was packed. We couldn't get through the door because the bar was so full. Turns out there's more seating in the back and you are suppose to seat yourself. So you just have to get past the crazy crowd. Once in the back its quieter and there's lots of space. By 9 pm the place dies down. We left at 10 pm and there were just a few people still eating but it was so quiet. Overall, if we just want wine we would visit again. But if you're going to eat and drink check out Block Butcher, the quality of cheeses and meats is excellent there.

We had 4 types of bruschetta. Our favorites were the deviled egg and the house-made fig preserve (best fig preserve I've had. Do they sell it??). The prosciutto and pea preserve was light, like the server described, but perhaps a bit too light compared to the others. Mac and cheese was also tasty. Would love to try their brunch menu.

A good happy hour makes me so excited! My gal friend suggested I meet her for a drink after work yesterday. I can never say no to wine, nor a place I've never tried before. I admit, I'd heard all great things prior to coming here, yet never made it over to try it out for myself. Bad me. For that reason, I took advantage of my first time going there and the happy hour specials. I love a glass of Cotes du Rhones, and they had a happy hour special for $6 a glass. I enjoyed my first glass so much, I had to go for a second! One of the best parts of the 58 Degrees happy hour menu, is that they offer 3 small plates for $10. Since it sounded like a great special, I assumed the portions would be tiny and perhaps more like a bite or two per dish. Ok, I was so wrong, and I was totally full when I left. Happy hour was my dinner. I ordered the melon with prosciutto, house meatballs and their four cheese mini mac. My friend ordered their seasonal flatbread. We shared a little, but I mostly kept to my dishes. I couldn't get enough of the melon and mini mac. The waiter told us about their wine and cheese tastings on Tuesdays, and now that's just another excuse for me to go back.

My friend and I had the scallops and pork belly, which was amazing! The pork belly was lean as could be and the scallops were cooked to perfection and were topped with caviar and a delicious sauce. We also split the mac and cheese which was good. I've had better, but this was still tasty. We also split the burger which was juicy and cooked perfectly also. The service was good and the weather was nice. The only negative is that I had to hunt someone down to be seated, but other than that, my experience was excellent. I will go back again and again.

Nice little place Downtown Sacramento, reminds me of some places in Downtown Los Angeles. Street meter parking or there is underground parking a block up the street. Not really busy on a Saturday summer evening like I thought it would be. Nice ambiance, has some limited side walk seating as well...otherwise brick walls inside with an "old warehouse" feel with plenty of wood to soften things up. The menu was limited, we each went with a grass fed beef burger, accompanied by a plain side of arugula salad, both on smaller then I expected but still satisfying. Wine selection seemed limited as well, I wanted a full bodied glass of cab and that's what I got. About $60 with tip for 2 burgers/2 glasses of wine. Service was efficient, I got schooled that Cabernet grapes and Burgundy are essentially the same (?!)...no music was being played..I hope they incorporate some live music nights. From the menu and the feel of the surroundings, I got that they had just opened and still were working things out but apparently they have been in business for some time. A generous sized bar with plenty of seating front and center. Overall a nice place for a glass of wine if you're in the neighborhood.

3/21/14 This place is located next to my favorite happy hour spot. The boo, his mom and I decided to go here before we headed to dinner at Morton's later. This place is so nice! Very chill and relaxing. They have seating on the inside and outside. The inside has big plush couches, a bar, and some regular tables for people to enjoy. We choose to sit outside. If you are a wine lover you will love this place. The staff is VERY knowledgeable and so nice! They have a store area next to it as well so that if you don't want to sit and enjoy your wine you can pick up a bottle and go. Great selection. We didn't get to partake in too much food since we were saving room for dinner but they have a nice menu. We did get the marinate olives (SUPER YUM) and the Artisanal Cheese Plate. Great compliments to the wine we had. Great start to a lovely evening. If you are in the area check this place out.

This place is a favorite for a Sunday afternoon/evening date. A bottle of wine (at $15 off Sundays), a cheese plate, and an entree to share make the work week seem miles away. I love their burger with bleu cheese and fig jam. What a perfect combination!

58 Degrees is a great place to catch up and wine down. My friends and I lounged on the sofas against the back wall. I ordered the Artisanal Cheese Plate (French baguette, fruit, spiced nuts). I love cheese, especially creamy cheeses. The French baguette would've been better if it was crustier. I tried my friend's Grilled Fig & Heirloom Tomato Salad. It was summery and light. People can also grab a bottle to go at the wine shop on the other side. *Review Featured on The Weekly Yelp- Salad Days Are Here (May 20, 2015)*

Located on 18th Street between L and Capitol (closer to Capitol) Street Parking Indoor and Outdoor Seating Beer & Wine The bar area has tables and pass the bar is a little sitting area with couches and a TV. They also have a retail shop. Serving lunch and dinner. Happy Hour M-F from 3-6. Except they're closed on Tuesdays. Dinner menu notates items that are or can be requested to be made Vegan.. Lunch menu does not. The wine list is cool. They section it off in categories to help you decide for Light, Medium, Full-Bodied or Light & Crisp, etc. Buy it by the glass and they also have half glasses available.. not to mention-- Bottles are available, too.

Over the past year I've grown quite fond of wine - even red wine. I tried this place a few more times, and I've always enjoyed my visits here. I tend to come here after dinner, or as one of several stops for the night. I am never disappointed. The servers are friendly, and when I'm stuck on which wine to order, they have recommendations that don't disappoint. If you don't want a full glass, half glasses are available. I am a fan of their mac and cheese and the charcuterie board. If I'm not super hungry, this is enough for my dinner for the night. The laid back environment is very nice. I never feel rushed, and it never gets so loud that I have to shout whenever I speak. If you're looking for a nice, intimate date spot, or a place to wind (wine) down after the work week, this is a great place.

I have been to several wine bars and there is nothing that impressed me about this place. Service at the bar was poor to mediocre. The food has some nice variations but took longer then I expected.

I've been a few times. Usually the service is friendly and prompt but I did have one day where the person just seemed annoyed when I asked where we could sit. Great wine, good food. You can eat inside or out at tables or sit at the bar. The last time I was there eating inside there were several flies bothering me as I tried to eat. Of course it's summer and these things often can't be helped much but it was annoying.

Visiting from out of town, Came here for apps and wine. The wine selection is diverse and upscale. This place is not cheap, even the happy hour special wines are still expensive, but I would say worth it! If you love wine you should come here. The bartenders seemed very good. The happy hour apps were a good deal, 3 for $10 and good portion sizes. Loved the mushroom flatbread, mac n cheese, and the lox toasts. I would have totally eaten more food here if we didn't have other reservations for dinner. The bar was very lovely, not too loud, chill atmosphere, great if you want to have a conversation, or a date or something, or just relax and drink some wine. Wish we could go back!

I love their food options and that they offer vegan dishes! And I'm a big wine fan, so I appreciate that they have wine on tap, of course. I will happily return in the future, but I can't give it more than 3 stars/an "A-OK" rating on Yelp. My biggest qualm with this place is the service. I've had the same feeling both times I've come here. The server/bartender starts off a bit surly. I don't think he intends to be impolite per se, but that's the way it comes across. This last time I went, he realized it and tried to play nice afterward, but it's hard to recover when you've greeted someone with an exasperated, critical tone of voice. He improved and was helpful and nice later on, but considering this isn't the first time this same exact thing has happened, I'm inclined to think it's a common attitude at this joint.

I recently went to this place to have a drink with a client. The next day when I reviewed my bill I realize that I was charged for something that I didn't order. I called the next day and I spoke to the manager and explain to him the situation. He told me he would look into it and call me back the next day call me back and told me that there was a mistake on the bill and that they had charge me something I did not order. He was nice enough to offer a $50 gift card for their mistake I would definitely recommend this place moving forward great customer service and great wine by the way.

58 Degrees & Holding is a great place to stop by and try some wine and small plates. I came here on a cool evening in late spring, and inside was warm and welcoming. The interior is set up in 3 areas.....large bar, lounge area with sofa's and chairs and a dining/larger party area. We sat in the lounge area, on super comfy couches and were promptly greeted by the bartender who was taking care of our area. We ordered the Cheese plate and a glass of wine....the Meunlenhof Riesling Kabinett for me, as I prefer a little more sweet, and the Adelaida "Keeper' Rhone-Style Blend, a medium bodied red for the SO. When we get wine, we try to get 2 very different styles so we can taste and compare. Fun. :-) The Riesling was delicious, light and fruity but with a great mouth feel. I am not a huge fan of reds, but the SO's Rhone Style blend was surprisingly good as well, not too rich, just right to pair with the cheeses. The cheese plate was gone in a flash. I am embarrassed to admit that we gobbled down the cheese, nuts and fruit ( I asked for a substitution for bread/crackers as I don't eat starches) in record time. We should have ordered dinners, but for some reason thought cheese and wine would tide us over. Given that cheese plates, regardless of their prices, tend to be small, we were still hungry, so we ordered the "Grilled Fig & Heirloom Tomato Salad" ( pulled mozzarella, micro herbs, hazelnut oil & coffee balsamic"). This was insanely succulent and fresh, and disapeared faster than the cheese plate. The coffee balsamic dressing was amazing...light but with great unami flavor. The service was excellent, and I was very pleased how easy it was to request something and have it happen (substitutions) without any issue. I love that. There was a large party in the dining area, and we watched as platter after platter of deliciousness was taken to the room. This is a great place for a party, or just to hang out and get a nice glass of wine. Next time, we feast on dinner. Why 4 instead of 5 stars? Limited veggie and menu options and small servings for the price. However, still a cool place to dine.

Really enjoy this place. Great food, great wine selection, very classy atmosphere inside, and the outside seating is wonderful for a sunny Sunday afternoon. Service was friendly and informative. Have received some great suggestions from the server as well. Have already recommended this place many times and always look forward to my next visit.

Just for wine. Came here on a date night, got a wine sampler. Got to try various white and red wines, good amount per sample and very delicious. The best part was how knowledgeable the server was on each kind of wine! Super impressed, she answered every question we had and got us the best samples for our pallets! Cute, swanky place located in a trendy part of mid town, pricey but worth it. Plus there is a wine store connected so you can purchase what you sample :-)

Decided to break away from our normal spot with a girlfriend and we were quite pleased! We went for a late lunch and got their 2 for $30 special. Such a deal! We ordered the bruschetta, shredded chicken sandwich and mac and cheese with a bottle of white wine. Everything was delicious! Service was good and the overall ambiance was relaxed. We'll definitely be coming back.

We were looking for a place to drink wine and beer and have a cheese plate and appetizers. The wine selection was very good, I drink whites and I am branching out so I love trying new wines. They had some great suggestions for what to try and not to try. My fiancé had a glass of red and a dark beer. I had a few different whites and we ended up buying a bottle to go because I loved the last wine so much. We were very happy with our choices and their suggestions. We arrived about 30 minutes before dinner service started and were told we had to order off of the happy hour menu. So we ordered the Mac n cheese. It was really good (but not as good as The Rind), not greasy or over cheesy and went well with the wine I was drinking. Once we were able to order from the full menu we ordered the bruschetta and a cheese plate. The food was very good and we were so full we didn't have dinner that night. The only reason I dropped it down one star was because when we walked in I felt like we were a little snubbed probably due to our appearance. We were dressed nice but we were dressed in our usual cowboy and cowgirl manner, not typical for the area. I had on a nice dress with cowgirl boots, my fiancé wore jeans, nice button up shirt, boots and a cowboy hat. Despite our appearance we are very cultured and knowledge regarding wine and food. I feel once they realized we weren't lost they warmed up a little.

Came here Friday after work at my friend's choice. I am not a wine pro so I can only really speak to the happy hour food and service. I found it slightly disappointing. Arrived around 5 and the bar area was was half full. We wanted to sit on the couches but ended up only finding a high table. I think it took at least 10 minutes before someone helped us. I kept making friendly eye contact with each server but no luck. We kept questioning whether or not we had to just order our food at the bar and walk back to our table? Once we finally got the attention of our server, she was friendly and well versed on the wine on the happy hour list. 2 reds and 2 whites with pretty distinct notes. I went with the Zinfandel and I enjoyed it! We ordered the 3 for $10 apps: Mac n cheese, mushroom flatbread, and meatballs. The Mac n cheese was my top choice out of the three, milky and cheesy in every way. The flat bread had nice big chunks of mushrooms but I found the cheese to be overpowering. I thought the meatball was kinda mushy. Halfway through our meal, my boyfriend came and joined us. Getting him a drink and placing his order was a difficult to say the least. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that people started flowing in closer to 6. 2 different people were helping us and one of them forgot his beer so we had to flag someone else down. He never got the water he requested so he drank mine. By the time we finished our food, happy hour was over and people were crowding in hawking around any available table in the bar. I saw they had some tables with "reserved" placards. On their website it says they do not take reservations but below it says for parties of 6 or more call and they will try to accommodate. Isn't that the definition of a reservation? It took us a while to get our bill, get our food packaged, and get our credit card back. It took our server 3 times to come back and tell us she would bring our food back. Guess she kept forgetting? Overall, I won't be back. There were some dishes on their main menu that intrigued me but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.

I love the patio area and a nice glass of wine. Definitely one of my favorite areas to relax and catch up with some good company. The food is good and the wine selection is great. I would recommend to everyone and don't forget to walk the area and check out the surrounding places!

Lovely little wine stop. They have the best Mac & Cheese I have ever had. We also ordered a trio of bruschetta which were also delicious. Huge wine list, yummy food, and great staff will have me coming to this place as often as I can.

An amazing combination of architecture, menu, service, and selection, 58 provides guests with a seat at their personal table for a truly enjoyable experience. With a variety of seating options available, including indoor, outdoor, high top tables, spaces at the bar, an additional dining room and lounge-style seating, large groups can easily be accommodated with adequate planning. At first glance, the robust, brag-worthy wine and beer list gave me a fair bit of a shock, but after taking a breath and a brief glance at the separate dining menu, I revisited it with the help of Aaron, one of the most competent servers I've ever had the pleasure of speaking with. The Organic Beet Salad and the Mac & Cheese were the perfect complements to the Quincy Sauvignon Blanc, recommended to me. Although I didn't drop by their showroom after dinner, I appreciated having someone help navigate me toward a solid selection. I would certainly love to come back during the week while their Happy Hour is in full swing.

Attended a private dinner in their back room last night -- and was truly amazing, shattering my "best meal" likes from the Waterboy, Ella, and Mulvaney's. The food was stunningly presented, tasted fresh, and super healthy. Looked like the chef had just gone to the Coop or Farmers Market and gotten the best goodies he/she could find. Excellent service (from Amber) as well. Wines, of course, were right on solid. Had only been here for wine and app's in the past; now will be a regular dinner stop.

I would go to there to eat mac n cheese all day every day. With a friend. A very special friend with whom I would share aforementioned mac n cheese. Stopped in with no reservations on a Friday night and found a seat for 3 at the bar. Great service. We had one sole purpose that evening: mac n cheese crawl (thank you Sacramento Magazine!). So we truffle mac'd it up and gave it an 8.5/10. The pasta was al dente, with a great cheese sauce and just enough truffle that it was flavorful, rich, and not overwhelming. We all hoped for a few more bread crumbs to add some crunch and texture. The roasted brussels sprouts with salami and cranberries (who knew?!) were a great complement to the mac as well as the glass of Vinho Verde. Will definitely be back for this and more!

A really great Sunday brunch. The smoked brisket hash was great. Along with a trio of bruschetta. The Mimosa was good also. And you can browse the adjoining wine shop.

I have to say, I am very disappointed in you 58 Degrees. This used to be a favorite spot of mine. Great wine, amazing cheese platters and dishes. But the last couple of times coming here you have really been slacking. My bf and I came here a few weeks ago to get one of their cheese platters that I LOVE. We chose a 3 cheese platter. When we were served I almost didn't notice there were 3 cheeses on the plate. The third cheese was literally shreds. I was very disappointed, but service was good and so was the food so we let it slide. Today was the last straw. My family and I came here after CIM. We sat down and waited for about 5 minutes before we even saw anyone that worked there. I usually come here in the late afternoon or evening, but when I do come for brunch I don't think their service is that great. Our server was really sloppy and poured our wine all over our glasses and dripped it on the table. The food was okay, but what really pissed me off was their bathroom. They really need to pay attention to it. I usually find toilet paper on the floor or seat covers still on the toilet. But today was just awful. There was pee all over the seat. My sister told our server, so taken care of right? Nope. I went to the bathroom about 15 minutes later and it was still there. My sister went again before we left, probably about 30 minutes after the staff was told of the problem and it was STILL THERE. Gross. Not to mention there were spider webs on the lamp near where we were seated. There are just as good of places to get wine and cheese that are clean, so for now that is where I'll be. I really used to love 58 Degrees. I hope they can get things together so I can come back and not be disgusted by their lack of cleanliness.

I've been here several times but I thought I had already reviewed this place before. We tried all 6 of the happy hour items and they were all delicious and perfect for sampling a lot of items. Also tried the $11 happy hour white wine and $8 white wine 2 times haha. The happy hour is pretty damn awesome. It has mac n cheese, one slider with potatoes, 4 meatball appetizer, flat bread hummus, and lox crostini and I just realized they didn't bring out our 58 seasonal flatbread oh well thats our fault for not reminding them. Anyways their happy hour does change often so just go to their website to see their most current happy hour menu. the bill was like $85 for 2 of us for happy hour but we did or 3 glasses of wine each. Definitely check this place out.

The food and service was amazing. Our waitress brought my dog a bowl of water and a towel and was extremely patient. The bruschetta was amazing (definitely try the fig jam & deviled eggs) and the mac and cheese was great.

We went to 58 Degrees last night for the first time.. and Let's just say from start to finish, it was an smooth sail.. Cara was exceptional.. because we didn't have an table so we sat down on the lounge.. but after some time, another table opened up and she came to help us to move our glasses for us.. The food was excellent, the staff is very knowledgeable.. They have an great selection of wine.. over all for date night, I recommend it.. the only downside is parking.. last night was exceptionally hard to find an parking spot.. however though, there is an parking lot across the street from them for $6 dollars.

Three of us dropped in late Saturday afternoon for a drink and a snack. The bartender, Chris is so friendly and helpful. The wine selection is extensive and well put together. We shared a charcuterie plate which was plenty for the the three of us. I love that they have foie gras! It was delicious. Definitely a must stop in when you are in mid-town.

Happy Hour Review! This place is still GREAT! The Fiance and I wanted to continue celebrating the end of 3 gruesome law school years together. Somewhere low key, no loud music, and soft couches to just chill in talk and spend some genuine one-on-one time. YES - we are completely done and over with the bros and hoes filled bar scene and the clubby type restaurants. LOL - I say that now, but if my girl friends happen to have a grand idea - I'm down (Tram T. and Mymy N.)!! The Happy Hour menu at this place is pretty good. Since this place is a WINE bar, their featured wines during Happy Hour are top notch and starting at $6!!! We had the Savion Blanc from France that was crisp, light, and refreshing. Really amazed with this wine. We almost bought a bottle! For our second drink he had house red he wasn't impressed with. The grape sediments were sticking to the glass :( and I had the $11 Chardonnay off the Happy Hour menu that I thought I'd love but it had a weird after taste. I had to order a creme brulee to balance the flavor. Despite, the second round of drinks, this place is the only decent chill/lounge place left in down town. Perfect for a group of friends or some quality time with someone special.

Why does everyone talk so loud in here??? This is not a night club yet I can't hear the person 2ft away! Also, bought a bottle of wine for $40, enjoyed it, then on our way out we walked through the wine store section and found the same bottle for $25. Really?

Excellent food and beer...yes, BEER at the wine bar. No wine snobs here, just friendly staff and very tasty small and large plates. Beet salad, ahi tuna, and hangar steak. Couple with a good Belgian beer and you're set!

I would probably give these guys a 3.5 but since that's not an option I'm kind of in this grey area. I don't think they outright deserved a four but I feel like a three is short changing them. The service was great and the food for the most part was excellent. We started with the bruschetta trio. All three that we tried were excellent. We had the Fig preserve with Brie, Sweet onion jam with soppresatta and grated manchego, and the Butternut squash, with maple glaze, cashew butter and fried sage. Again all three were very impressive. For mains I had he Hangar steak with potatoes and a dill yogurt sauce. She had Roasted Taro and Tofu. My dish was excellent but the taro was far too over done. It was supposed to be caramelized, but frankly it was scorched. It was difficult to cut into. Both plates were gorgeous before we destroyed them. The dessert was very good. It was a Montana Huckleberry Cake. The texture and flavor were phenomenal. Of course they were on point in there wine recommendations. We had a Petite Sirah and a Riesling. It was kind of a nice evening out, and the experience was nice but for the price of the meal I would probably look elsewhere for food. If you're just looking to try some wine and sit back and relax I would push this towards the top of my list in Sacramento.

Excellent wine bar with a tasty food offering. We came upon this wine bar last year and came back last weekend. Both experiences were memorable. Their selection of wine and beer should satisfy the majority of thirsty patrons. (If you have a doubt about what to choose, the wait staff are more than happy to guide you and even offer a taste.) On the food side: We tried the trio of bruschetta (traditional tomato/basil/olive oil/four cheeses, butternut squash/pistachio/blue cheese, and Warm burrata/sea salt/truffle oil). All were well done and different than any we had experienced before. The star of the night for us was the Yukon Gold Gnocchi in a porcini cream sauce, chanterelles, parmesan, and lardo. Super savory and the sauce made you want to pick the bowl up and lick it. (We decided against it.) On a Friday the place is packed from about 6-9 so best to try and get there early and secure a table.

Tried this place out for brunch based on Yelp reviews and the yummy looking Yelp pics. We came by on a Sunday a little before 11am and this place was empty. Literally the staff, one guy, and us. I'm not sure why since this place stays busy during dinner on any given evening. I think maybe not many people know they offer brunch. I like the digs. Cute and comfortable surroundings, chill music, and of course, lots and lots of wine. The server was funny and personable. I looked over their brunch menu online before we got here, but their offerings were a tad different. No matter, as there was still a good amount of items to choose from. We tried the benedict, and duck and waffle, and a side of biscuit and gravy. The duck and waffle was the star out of the three dishes, which was topped with a sort of peach compote that went well with the duck. The waffle was crisp and fluffy, and tasted of creamy butter. The benedict was ok but dry. The biscuit and gravy were alright but I've had better. Both dishes were very salty. I would give this place another shot based on ambience and service alone.

The service here is top-notch. I bought an aged bottle of Riesling that my bf and I ended up not enjoying. We brought the bottle back into the store and talked to the somm, Tyler, about why we didn't like it. He tasted the wine and talked to us about it. He was knowledgeable and quite helpful. He told us about characteristics of aged Rieslings and recommended a younger Riesling. He told us that if we didn't like it, come back and talk to him about it. (BTW, the younger Riesling was really good! Thanks Tyler!) You may end up paying a little bit more here but it's definitely worth it. They have a great selection and want you to have a nice experience with your wine. Don't be afraid to ask questions.

This is a nice place, and their dessert is okay. The creme brulee could have been better. I do not see any vanilla bean in it, so I was disappointed on this. The port is delicious. I would come back to sample some more wines.

Great place to come for a quick drink before an event or make yourself comfortable and enjoy a slow paced meal. First thing you notice is a full bar centered primarily on wine service, of course, high tables and a lounge area. For full on meals there is a section next to the wine shop and members' only room that looks great for parties. You seat yourself and wait for the server but they are well suited for the casual but elegant feel to the restaurant and very knowledgeable about wine and pairings. Our companions noted that everything on the food menu directly complimented what was on the wine/beer menu. We order small plates as well as main entrees and there were no complaints. Trio of Bruschetta, Charcuterie, and Ahi were our favorites. And the truffle macaroni and cheese, pork belly and fig/heirloom tomato salad were also delicious. Perfect place to enjoy a bottle of wine and small plates with friends!

Bruschetta. Bruschetta. Bruschetta! This place was so good!! My husband and I tried the bruschetta trio and the peaches one was hands down the best. The flavor was incredible and the quality was superb. The waitress was so knowledgeable and extremely helpful.

My friend took me here when I came up to Sacramento to visit for a day trip. The place is super cute and the bartender was very helpful. We just came here to day-drink on a Thursday afternoon but ended up only getting one glass of wine each because it was so expensive! If you are coming here to have a relaxing time, I suggest it. However, if you are trying to find someplace to get a cheap drink I would not come here.

I honestly can't say enough about this place. The wife and I chose it on a fluke looking for a place to grab a bite and our experience was so great we came back a second time. Incredible selection of wine and bottled beer. The food was fantastic: excellent sized portions, great flavor, and reasonably priced. They even have a store where they sell the wine by the bottle to go. I rarely rate a place like this, but it's a true gem. Friendly knowledgable servers and the interior is sophisticated and welcoming. Two thumbs up!

This is one of my favorites ever in Sacramento. Great wine selection - the servers are always knowledgeable about the tasting notes. I absolutely love their bruchetta trio and cheese plates, and the Mac and cheese is always a favorite. Small bites change all the time and pretty much always make me feel fancy and important. Specials are good. Just remember they are closed in Tuesdays.

Went in for lunch recently and thoroughly enjoyed the Choose 3 bruschetta! The artichoke was the table favorite! We also enjoy the macerated currant as well as the fig. My friends both ordered burgers and were quite happy. I ordered the asparagus salad and was disappointed as it was waaaaaaaaaaaay to salty. I had the other two people I was with try it and both agreed. Our server was David and he was professional and courteous. I had not seen my friend for a long time and he let us chat and take our time catching up until we decided we would like to order.

I loved the food and the ambiance. My fiancee and I were intending to eat at a nearby restaurant but it was overcrowded so we went here instead, we were not disappointed! Food was excellent, drinks were very good, I would recommend this place, and will definitely be going back again.

I randomly walked by this place and noticed outdoor seating, which is exactly what I was looking for. I was expecting decent atmosphere and mediocre food, but I was actually surprised by how good it was. I had a plate of the Parppadelle, which was so good - rich and flavorful and very well seasoned. For someone who is usually not a big fan of Italian food, I was really blown-away by this place. They had a great wine list and the staff was friendly.

Why haven't I tried the food here before? What a nice surprise! The Bruschetta and gnocchi were very tasty. Both dishes are small but both are reasonably priced. So order more! The server paired a wine for my gnocchi and our dessert. Sooo good! Thanks for the yummy pairing! I thought the wine was pricey so I reserved a star. Maybe I should try their happy hour.

I have been here a handful of times now, and each time I have tried a new wine selections, as well as appetizers and dessert. The vibe is alive and casual during happy hour, and there are various options for seating. The couch areas can fit larger groups, while the bar tables are great for a few of you. I have never made reservations, as I always find seating somewhere inside. It is definitely a hidden gem in midtown for those looking for a less formal spot to catch up with friends or family over a great bottle of wine. The service is good when they are attending to you, but sometimes I have had to wait at least ten minutes before someone has offered me a menu or greeted me. Nevertheless, the wait has not deterred me from returning!

I hate to write this review bc I used to love this place but now that Matthew P is no longer there, I no longer feel the same way. Matthew P was one of the reasons I used to frequent this establishment as much as I did. He was GREAT! Knew all of the regulars and all of our tastes. Had wine tastings based on our palates or something new that he knew we'd like in an effort to expand our horizons, which he did every single week. I also trusted him to choose wines for me, for the reasons previously stated. Now, there are 2 new guys( to do the same job 1 great person did); a general manager, also named Matthew, who has great charisma and so much personality. He had me in stitches all night. Then there's Tyler, the new guy in charge of the tastings. He has absolutely NO personality! His choice of wines are underwhelming! MP had so much knowledge and he taught us things in entertaining ways, now we have a guy that tells us that his trip to New Zealand was fantastic and the best trip he's ever taken. Here's my question, WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THE WINE YOU'RE POURING. Teach me something about that and talk less about yourself and your awesome trips! It's just not the same. A group of us regulars would stand around and listen to Matthew P's stories. We bonded while laughing and chatting, and this is what made us all want to come back week after week. Now, having someone with no personality who makes unpopular choices..... it gives us no reason to be back. There are so many places that do wine tastings, business owners really need to understand that it really is the people that run your place that keep people coming back. I'm just waiting to hear about where MP ends up because I will most def be following him!

Leapt at the opportunity to try the brunch here. Based on the menu online, I was prepared to fill up on the 58 brunch wrap (pork belly, garlic rice, etc.), but the menu had changed a bit. So I ended up getting a dish that had chorizo, potato hash, topped with eggs and all of it is baked in the oven so the eggs are gorgeous and runny. My friend and I couldn't resist their brioche French toast - this was my favorite. Light, but with buttery, syrupy good flavor with a delightful crème anglaise to go with it! And don't forget some fresh fruit topping it :) The only thing missing was some good sweet summery wine! Ok ok I know it was morning and I shouldn't have wine that early, but I couldn't pass up trying their moscato duet. They pour two moscatos together and it makes for a sweet treat! Take a cool sip and kick back for a lazy Sunday morning! :)

REVIEW *Cozy, upscale atmosphere. Good date spot. Always a positive experience here. Crowded at peak hours, but not obnoxiously so. *Friendly, professional service every time. *Nice wine selection, sorted by heaviness, but pricey! No wines for under $10 a glass. $15 off bottles Sunday (corkage fee waived). My favorite red is the Fiddletown Old Vine Zin. *No flights, but you can put your own together by ordering several 3 oz. pours. But not a great value to do this. *Great food! As good as any place in town. Try the truffle mac n' cheese and bruschetta trio for starters! I've come here for a drink and an appetizer before dinner, and the food is so good, I cancel my dinner reservation and eat here! *Could do better: Offer wine flights; make better use of the space in the back room, which is a wine storage area. OTHER INFO *Secret: There's a secret wine club room, that only members are allowed in. Probably also serves as a private party room. I've never been allowed in. *Last time, we sat near a tanned 50-something couple. The husband, sporting a gold watch and upscale vacation wear, was a little red in the face and it was clear that they had been through a bottle or two of wine. He was probably a big talker already, and on this occasion was turned to the side, trying to talk up a group of younger women. The mostly one-sided affair went on for some time, and I could tell that he was enjoying the conversation more than the women were, and MUCH more than his wife was. As he carried on, she sat with arms crossed, and eyed the waiter with a nonverbal cue of "check now please." I just hope the wine and braggadocios chatter was worth what will surely end with a night on the couch for him.

Amazing wine and awesome customer service. Our server, Chris, was very knowledgable and extremely helpful when it came to choosing different wines. I went in with a group of girlfriends and we all anticipated buying only one glass (maybe two!) of wine since it was within an hour or so of closing time. Imagine our surprise when, after we had finished our initial glass of wine and decided not to have more, Chris came over and poured us all another glass of their best Pinot Noir ON THE HOUSE. Yes, FREE! So awesome! Can't wait to go back. You're gonna love this place.

this place has become a Saturday Afternoon favorite for my Girlfriend and I. Love going in and having a nice subtle and quiet environment where we can hang out and enjoy some really good wine. The assortment of foods is also very tasty. My favorite is just going in having some wine and the cheese platters. Perfect!

I am so surprised that I have not written a review for 58 Degrees & Holding. With my one of favorite restaurants, Mulvaney's B&L, closed on Monday, the girlfriend and I headed over to 58. I was ready to be underwhelmed by the food but I was pleasantly surprised. Service was fantastic. Ordered the Trio of Brushetta -- poached pear with applewood bacon, asparagus, and mozzarella with olive oil. Absolutely delicious and encompassed all of the flavors I love. Followed up with Yukon Gold Gnocchi and Duck Pappardelle. Once again delicious with rich, creamy sauces and perfectly cooked pasta. The egg mixed into the gnocchi is heavenly. I thought I was going to still be hungry so I ordered the Four Cheese Macaroni, which was very cheesy. Only downside was that the portions were so small. Perhaps this will become my new Monday dining locations. What I recommend: -- Trio of Brushetta -- Yukon Gold Gnocchi -- Duck Pappardells

Gotta start by saying, Kara was great! I was in town to support a Senate Bill and we arrived the night before the hearing. Having very little knowledge of the area, I asked at the Hotel for a quiet place to have a great glass of champagne for my companions and I of course wanted a beer. Place was totally low key, relaxed and elegant. I loved the private lockers for storing your bottles, what a great idea and classy too. While my wife ordered a sour beer and my partner got a champagne, I had a gander at their bottle list and to my surprise they had some things I haven't seen available before and just had to try. I ordered a Nectar Ale Special Limited Release from Paso Robles the Black Xantus Imperial Stout was barrel aged and delicious. The cheese and charcuterie plates were tasty and the tuna nacho was delightful (except the weird cheese on this plate which my friends made all sorts of gross remarks about) and light. Pork belly with homemade gnocci made me drool and as I review my pictures just now I am saddened that I can't repeat this dinner again anytime soon since I don't live near here. I'll be back if I have to go support my profession again at the capital!!!

My first girls' night out here in Sac caught me and a new friend, also from the East Coast, at 58 Degrees. We were able to sit right away at the bar and started with wine...of course. I had the vino verde and she had the sauvignon blanc. I think we both liked out selections. Liked them enough to have a second glass. We nibbled on the ahi tuna and potato gnocchi during our meal and both were quite tasty. This is a very laid back spot and is nice enough for a casual dinner. The music selection was good but you could still have a conversation at a normal tone. I liked it well enough and would certainly go again.

We stumbled upon this restaurant after a show at Music Circus, and what a fabulous surprise. Our server, Naomi, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. She was able to describe everything on the menu in detail and helped us with our selections. The food was even better than she described! It was indescribably delicious. Good food, good service, great day in Sacramento. Denise

The happy hour options are great. Two beers, two white wines, two red wines, and about a half dozen small plates. Some of the drinks can be spendy per glass, but they make up for it with the 3 plates for $10. Two of us shared 3 plates and left satisfied. The flat bread was a little oily, but the seasoning was great and went well with the hummus. The mac and cheese was delicious with the bread crumb crunch on top! We also had the spears & hearts plate which was perfectly seasoned and had a nice touch of aioli with it. Their patio is perfect on these cooler summer evenings. The service is very attentive as well. The only thing I would suggest is that they post their happy hour offerings online. The one we found on a different site was outdated.

What a comfy wine bar! I came here with a couple of friends for lunch. Love the decor and overall feel of the place. We seated ourselves by a couple of couches and made ourselves right at home. I ordered the Truggle Egg and Cheese Sandwich. Thumbs up! I'm kinda craving one right now actually..... My friends ordered the Shrimp and Grits and the Hanger Steak Sandwich. While I didn't get to try their food, they both seemed happy with their selections. The appetizers and everything else on the menu sounded amazing! I'll come back to sample their wines and cheese for sure. Neither of my lunch companions opted to try out the wine, since both of them had to drive. While I had a ride of my own and would not have to worry about driving, I did not want to seem like the alcoholic that I am and be the only one drinking, so I refrained. (Regret!!) Next time I'll be sure to go with others who can accompany me in my drinking adventures.

58 degrees is a great place to sit outside on a summer Second Saturday evening enjoying a nice glass of white wine. The nibbles are awesome and the waitstaff and bartenders are some of the best in Sacramento. If you want to people watch and enjoy some awesome wines check them out. PS: if you need a heartier meal then go next door to Xocalo.

Amazing experience! We went to 58 Degrees based on a local friend of ours. We just moved to Sac and wanted to try out some state wines so he sent us here. I had couple glasses of Dom. Allimant-Laugner Crémant d'Alsace Brut Rosé and it was wonderful. Fruity, light, and still just a little dry so perfect for the food pairing. My SO had two tastes: a light Red Holdredge Pinot Noir and a medium Red Cervantes. They have three drink sizes: taste (3oz.), glass (6oz.), and a bottle. After the two tastes, he fell in love with the Cervantes and had a glass of that. For appetizer we had the Trio of Bruschetta. They change seasonally but a few days ago we had the summer squash and burrata, the cherry tomato and pesto, and the mushroom. Each were fabulous but the squash was my favorite. Then we split a small plate but for the life of me I can't remember which one. (Can you tell I had wine? :) Then for entrees he had the grilled salmon (really amazing) and I had the truffle oil mac and cheese. Holy goodness, the mac and cheese! It was incredible, the pasta was so fresh and the sauce was to die for. I had some left over so our lovely waitress Amber boxed it for me and I ate the leftovers the next day. It heated up great. We'll be back though this will be a special occasion restaurant for us for sure (it's not cheap). Next time we'll try out brunch, which I've heard is great. And try the medium red Cervantes, it's awesome!

I received a gift card to this establishment. Totally ignored me when I tried to order wine and have sent to me. Left numerous messages and was never given the time of day. I sent the gift card to a friend, don't think she was ever able to use. Will never have to worry about me recommending this place.

The menu sounded great but the horrible service wouldn't allow me to get thru one beer, so I exited before ordering any food. As I was sitting there an older gentlemen walked in and sat next to me at the bar. The bartender looks over and says "can I help you"? The gent says yes I would like a menu please. The bartender says "the menus are on that table behind you". Why would you make a customer walk to get his own menu? The bartender then walks away and leaves the gent sitting there. 10 minutes goes by and the gent walks out. The bartender comes over to my brother and I and says "how can I help you"? I would like a beer please. He hands me the beer menu and says "we are out of a lot of those". The first beer I mention he says they are out of. The second beer I mention again "we are out". I say, why don't you just tell me what you do have. Bartender "I can't do that, just keep naming them and I will tell you if we have it or not" finally I get to one they have. I turn to my brother and say, finish your wine we are leaving. We were out on a business company sponsored lunch and the plan was to eat and drink well. We ended up spending almost $300 at another place. The amount you spend should not matter in relation to service but I just wanted to highlight how much crappy service can cost a business. Between the older gent who walked out and my group they lost out on $350 easy. I'm a network engineer but I have a degree in Culinary Management, it annoys me when businesses destroy themselves from within. 58 get it together, as you do not want to be a victim of the high failure rate of restaurants.

My girlfriends and I went to 58 degrees for our monthly girls night. The restaurant itself was nice, but the service was terrible. The food was just ok, for the price that you pay you would expect for the portions to be bigger than the palm of your hand. My girlfriends and I will never go back to this place.

WINE TO THE RESCUE: A popular midtown place with an upscale vibe that's my favorite of the several wine bars in Sac. It's the perfect place for date night, conversation with friends, or to just have great wine and food. SEATING: There's a nice bar, a couple of tall tables, a main sitting area, and the adjoining wine store, so sit anywhere your derriere desires. My preference is one of the comfy couches, which are a nice way to snuggle-up and have some romantic time! SERVICE: The service is always top-notch. Stroll in, seat yourself, and before no time you'll have a menu, water, and a waiter reading the daily specials. They're extremely knowledgeable about the food, wine and suggested pairings. WINE NOT?: You can get a 3 oz or 6 oz tasting of the wines by the glass. I appreciate how the menu sorts wines by color and by amount of heaviness. For example, the categories include, "Light Yet Impressive Reds," or "Unbashedly Fullbodied Reds." NIBBLES: The food here isn't just an afterthought. I like to come here "pre-dinner" to sample appetizers. Most of the bites are small and tapas style. Entrees are a little pricey. On the menu, they feature suggested pairings. My recommendations include: *Olives - served warm and seasoned to perfection. *Roasted Brussels - Dripping in brown butter, garlic, and deliciousness (hold the pork belly please for this veg girl) *Four Cheese Macaroni - rich cheesy goodness - I want more, more, more! A close rival to the mac at Mix. HH: They offer HH from 3-6 pm M-F. This includes half off selected food items and $5 wine or $3 beer. Sunday is half-priced bottle night, and what better way to end a weekend?

This review is for the wine retail side only. I purchased 2 bottles of Chard from their cellar for a tasting I hosted recently with a bunch of wine industry folks. 1 '06 Kongsgaard and another '03 Marcassin 3 Sisters Sonoma Coast, both older vintages and both not inexpensive. While the JK showed very well, the Marcassin didn't. Everyone commented on how it tasted like it had stewed and cooked flavors. Since I picked up the wine the day of the tasting and there was no extreme temperatures during transport, it leads me to believe that the Marcassin experienced high temperature storage somewhere along the way. Since I frequent 58 regularly and the purchase for these 2 bottles was $240, I mentioned it to one of their new retail wine associates and he took down my info. I have yet to get a call back or msg in regards to the fault of the wine. They have a few more bottles of the same vintage Marcassin in the cellar and I would hate to be the next person who purchases the same wine to have the same experience. I would suggest finding a Coravin to test the other Marcassins from that lot to make sure they also aren't exhibiting cooked flavors. 2 stars for poor service.

Loved this place! Extensive menu of wines by the half glass, full glass, or bottle in a beautiful casual environment. My server was extremely knowledgable about all the wines, and a pleasure to talk to. I was only here for Happy Hour, and it featured about 4 wines at $5 a glass. A few appetizers are also great values at $4-5 dollars and some (like a few of the bruschetta combos) were outstanding. Also had the Steak tartare with quail egg & loved it. Would love to try for a real dinner one day

Simply amazing. The food is scrumptious, the service is wonderful, the wine selection is superb, and the ambiance is just perfect for a date night or a night to catch up with girlfriends. The waitress started by recommending a great Syrah that went well with what we ate. We ordered the mac n cheese, which was to die for!!! I definitely had a dream about it last night. Amazing cheese, melt-in-your-mouth type of mac n cheese; so good that we ordered a second serving to share. We also had the steak sandwich, which was pretty much a deliciously cooked piece of meat stuck in between more yummy cheese and great bread. Omg. Soooo good. I wish I had a dream about the sandwich last night. We ended with the creme brule and chocolate torte. I'm usually not a fan of sweets, but oh man, that torte was so good. Why does everything at this place just melt in your mouth!?!? I can't wait to go again!!!

I was here with a group friends yesterday for their Happy Hour specials. Venue ( 4 Stars): Half of the room was blocked off during happy hour. Nice decor. Service (4 stars): Very good service. Our server was very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. Wine ( 4 stars): Good wide selection. We opted for the Moscato from their wine list.... very sweet and savory.... was a fan! Food ( 2 stars for portion control, 3.5 for taste): We ordered 6 items from their happy hour menu and was very disappointed with portion size. I think if they would've increased their portion size by just another 20%, I'd would've given them 4 stars. So... we ended up walking down the street to the Mix and ordered more food lol.

We went for the wine tasting on a Wednesday evening, but ended up just drinking wine and ordering Happy Hour appetizers. One of the workers actually told us that the wines being offered up in the blind tasting wasn't worth it, so we should just order what we like off the Happy Hour, she definitely scores points for honesty. We ordered the meat balls, which seems a little bit overcooked, but still tasted good. The bread was great. Our server actually acknowledged to us that she wasn't the best judge of wine when we asked for recommendations and had one of the other servers give us her opinions. It actually worked out pretty well. We enjoyed everything that was recommended to us, and plan on going back sometime soon.

I came here to have some wine with a friend during the day. It wasn't very busy when we came and there weren't many people around until we got to the bar area, so it was a little bit confusing at first - I wasn't sure if we were to find our own seating or if we were to be shown to one. I'm not an avid wine taster either, so maybe I just didn't know the way? Aside from a slightly awkward beginning, it got a lot better. The person behind the bar let us try out about five different kinds of drinks before we chose the one we wanted. After that, we got some seating outside and my friend and I enjoyed a nice view over some moscato. I hear the brunch is good here, so I am definitely hoping to come back with some friends, and hopefully this experience will go a lot more smoothly!

2.5 stars. This one didn't stick the landing. Aside from being good at drinking it, I'm not exactly a wine pro, so this review is not about the wine selection, but just the ambiance and overall experience. 58 was on my list of 30 to try in midtown. After having tried it, "meh" is the best adjective I can come up with. Stopped in on a Saturday evening and they were a bit harried. It all seemed like a really confused space like lounge meets restaurant, with cafe and wine store thrown it and nothing being done exceptionally well. The server made a mistake on our bill and while she did correct it, made it a point to chide is about it so that kind of left a sour aftertaste. It's not high on the list to revisit.

Definitely a fan. It's laid-back and not pretentious. The bartenders give you recommendations if you ask them. It's open later than most places in Midtown, perfect for an after dinner drink. They have wine and beer. Haven't tried the food so can't rate that. Will definitely be coming back.

Wine Bar. Let that term sit in your head for a moment. What are you thinking of? Here's my list: Izods with flopped up collars. Pretentious pontification on the pointless. A couple at a corner table arguing about which Pinot goes with the escarole. And then I came upon 58 Degrees & holding. This place causes one of two reactions: "This place isn't a wine bar!" or "Huh, I was wrong about wine bars!" Good wine stored and poured correctly. Interesting good food. A good service. Favorites include the Great Brussels sprout and beet salad, the Trio of Bruschetta, Pappardelle, and the Hanger Steak Sandwich. And a word to the beer drinkers out there: they have Ruhstaller on tap and a well rounded selection in bottle.

This is a great place to try a bunch of wine if you don't know what you're into. I do know what I'm into and can tell you they've got a great selection of le olde Pinot Noir. They'll pour you a 3 oz. taste or a 6 oz. glass and there's not a spit bucket in sight. As Dr. Steve Brule says, "no way Jose am I spitting this stuff out - it tastes like fruit!" The servers and bartenders are well-versed in their product but aren't the least bit pretentious about it. They can provide recommendations if you tell them what you're looking for. You know, like "black pepper and cherries" or "stinky gym socks and morning dew". Back in my single days, my friends and I would swing by 58 and sit at the bar. We figured we would meet a higher caliber of men at a wine bar than, say, Old Tavern. However, this is a great date spot so not many singles in sight. 58 should be your first stop to set the mood right, if you know what I mean. For a "wink wink nudge nudge" kind of night. For a "romantic evening". For a little "something something" later on. For "the sex".

OK, So I am not a big wine drinker and I don't go out to drink that often, but my coworker is retiring and I wanted to celebrate with them. I can't comment of the wine, but the happy hour appetizers were good. Happy hour dealz: 3 items for $10; We got prosciutto watermelon, Bree crustini, flat bread with corn and salsa. We also ordered bruschetta with olive tapenade, fig and cherry tomatoes which were excellent. Very nice atmosphere, alot of wood panelling, mood lighting with candles around the room, on the side there is a full wine cellar where you can stock up on all your wine. Service was good and friendly, I would go back to try some of the other appetizers.

I visited 59 degrees last weekend and I need to tell the yelp world about my mediocre experience.... Before I explain my less than par experience, I first want to mention how excited I was to try this place out because 1. I LOVE wine especially reds and 2. It seemed like the only decent place around the Sacramento area to go for appetizers and a glass of wine. I studied Italian wines in Italy so, I was expecting an impressive wine list. However, I was really disappointed to find only 3 Italian wines and one of them was the basic chianti classico that I can get at Olive Garden if I really wanted to. The wine list was scattered and featured mostly french wines with a mix of California and Australian reds. How can u have bunch of Australian wines on the menu but barely a handful of Italian wines??? Doesn't make sense considering that Italian wine is looked at as one of the best in the world. On to the food... The appetizer dishes were good but nothing to rave about. I ordered the charcuterie board and paired it with my Pugliese wine. It was tasty and the meats were good but the bread that came with it were croutons NOT bread. How can I have antipasti without bread?? I was fairly annoyed at that point but it didn't get any better taking into account the clueless waiter who knew nothing about wines but wanted to pretend as if he did. Our waiter CHRIS was standoffish and seemed as if he did not want to serve our table. Sad excuse for a wine list, rude service, but good food. I will not be returning.

Firstly, this wine bar has some GOOD food. It has an extensive list of wines, but I wasn't that interested in drinking as much as I was in eating. The service was a bit slower because of a party going on in the other room, but the server was great! Aside from being super friendly and helpful in ordering, he constantly came to our table to update us on the status of our orders. For an early Vday treat, we were able to get the Vday Prix Fixe meal which included: Raw oysters, Foie & Brioche: SO good! The oysters had tabasco caviar on top and bacon foam (couldn't taste it though). The oysters weren't sandy (rinsed pretty well) and were sweet and fresh. The toasted brioche had a spread of raw honey on top with a few slices of foie. The texture and taste were so DELICIOUS I couldn't wait for more food. Stalk and Pepper Yellowfin Tuna: I'm not a big fan of ahi tuna to begin with, but this dish had an interesting combination of complementary textures. The ahi tuna was advised to be eaten with a homemade potato crisp and some of the soup it was served on. The ahi tuna in itself was a bit bland (as of all ahi tunas). Lamb Duo: This lamb chop came with two pieces of mooroccan spiced lamb leg (what is that, i do not know). The lamb chop was severely rare (like the inside was all red), which might have been the way the chef wanted us to eat it, but I wasn't really feelin the taste of raw lamb at the time so I asked our server to cook the lamb a little bit more. Splended service! Not only did he bring the food back in and serve it again on a new plate, but during the "wait", he brought us some bar food (honey covered peanuts) and an extra dessert (which I will explain next). Butterscotch Pot de Creme: This was pretty good! This came with a scoop of vanilla ice craem and a couple caramel crisps (yumyumyum) Chocolate torte: rich and very torte-like, this dessert came with a strawberry and some blackberries and vanilla ice cream. Overall, I was very pleased with the service and thought the food was pretty decent (appetizers and lamb were the best)!

Super great for brunch, but I'm not the biggest fan for dinner. The food is amazing, especially coming out of a kitchen that's so small... but the crown gets too swanky in the evening. I understand that it's a wine bar, but you're still in Sacramento... and you're not drink bottles of Jordan Cab... Either way, go for the food... try the wine. Not the other way around.

I am starting to become a big fan of this place. It's a nice place to grab a glass of wine and have a nice relaxed time with your friends. The staff here is quite friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the wines. I only wish they had more flight options, its great when you're not certain about what to get and want to try out a few options.

Passed by this place so many times and often they are packed. I've attempted to wine and dine here but there was no seating available for a party of 2. This is a cute cozy and intimate lil place with great food and drinks. I wasn't too impressed with our server, he seemed a little occupied with his coworkers and took awhile to present us water as well as the wine and foods. Great company and good food made up for his lack of attention to our table (sofa area). I loved their mac n cheese, the best I've had so far. Their cheese and mushroom platters were also delicious. We ordered other things but I recommend these platters.

This is one of my favorite places to go for date night. We mostly go for the wine selection (they have many old world wines, which we appreciate), but the food is always good as well. We usually share one to two appetizers and two entrees or small plates between the two of us, as we see it more as tapas than a fill-you-up kind of restaurant. The staff tends to back off an let you take your time, which is appreciated, but be sure to make eye contact when you want something so they know to come over. Tastes of wine are frequently offered and requests for them are honored without any fuss. Would recommend.

An EXCELLENT evening stop-off spot for post-dining ambiance in Midtown Sacramento. SITREP My lovely friend Caitlyn and I were wandering during a recent 2nd Saturday Art Walk. We had SUCCESSFULLY found the Mini-Burger Truck hiding up around 20th & J Streets, famishly ravaged our quarry, but we weren't ready just to go back to her place just yet ( to attack the Season 5 Battlestar Galactica DVDS no less) since the atmosphere was "animated & artistic" in Midtown. And as we wandered down L Street, we came upon this wine mecca of good taste called 58 Degrees & Holding. [Plus I'm sure, like us, after devouring hamburgers, the FIRST thing you think about as a follow-up is a wine bar, right? Yeah, right?] We were dubious at first, but stepped in, and glad we did! [Caveat: we were only at 58 Degrees from 7p-8p for the wine at the bar, so can not render an opinion about the food or table service.] SET-UP Nice furnishings, beautiful set-up, and couches to get cuddly in. Found a place for ourselves and immediately got into some nice conversational kicks with other couples who ALSO at first just stepped in merely to escape the summer heat of the Art Walk, and our conversations turned to some of the bands and impromptu music artists along the sidewalks. To us, beating the summer heat seems better with White Wines rather than Reds, and so that is what we focused on. The bartender was a friendly chap and was quick to offer me the choices for White Wine: * We BOTH enjoyed a glass of their featured Gewürztraminer * And then shared a glass of their sweet moscato dessert wine. This made for a most wonderful way to relax and kick-start the digestive processes (of those heavy little mini-burgers and sweet-potato tots) before our DVD viewing later that night! It was a great way to just "chill" with no pressure. THE LOWDOWN If you looking for a delightful, classy way to kick-start an evening with as beautiful a "finish" as the wine itself, 58 Degrees is a nice stop!

Sunday night - no corkage fee. This is brilliant! Go out and socialize for the price of drinking at home! Order any bottle off the menu and get it for $15 less than the listed price. We got a delicious Syrah blend for $15, and some food. The short ribs are delicious, and come with mashed potatoes and tempura green beans. The friend I was with swears by the macaroni and cheese (why is that the new thing?) Anyway, the Sunday night atmosphere is calmer, but still cheery. Service was great, and it was a great deal.

Absolutely love it here ! They were very accommodating to me and my friends. Great atmosphere , the bathroom felt like a spiritual experience. You can taste half glasses of wine , full glasses or a full bottle. There was a range of prices so you can make it a very expensive experience or not so bad at all. The food was delicious and great for wine pairing. Vegetarian options available. The salmon, bruschetta and gnocchi were great as well as the German pino noir. :) highly recommended.

Wow! What a great little spot this was. I would definitely make another trip back during my next trip to Midtown (to sample more wines and try some other food. Kara, the sommelier behind the bar, was a delight; she was friendly, knowledgeable, had a great service spirit as well as a good sense of humor (always makes me a little more enamoured). So, service was A+. Wine was great. The food was just O.K. Brussel sprounts were TOP NOTCH. I did not like my ramen noodle dish. I felt it was very poorly balanced. The broth wasn't very savory and flavorful. The pork belly was heavy handed and in long, tough strips that were impossible to cut up in that bowl (albeit tasty). The "final straw" was the poached egg which was floating in there but completely COLD in the middle (NOT GOOD). If you aren't going to poach the egg to order so that delicious yolk it hot and runny, then please don't bother. That was worth a star right there. Finally, what's UP with that ARTWORK???? Tacky. There were way too many provacative pictures of peppers strewn on the walls ... covering every square inch. It makes no sense for a wine bar to feature peppers. Also, whoever that local artist is probably thinks way too much of himself ... and the subliminal sex messages there lend me to belive there may be some "issues." Who knows, maybe he's a friend of the owner of the place ... who knows. It's odd though.

I dropped in again for dinner last night and it was perfect. The wine selection is obviously high quality. We got some bruscetta to start, 3 types all delicious. There Ceaser was excellent. It looked a little to fancy for me, but the flavors were perfect. We ordered the Scallop and Hanger Steak for the mains, and they were both delicious and excellent. I also have to say that the room is great, solid design and lighting, and not too large. Great date place..

A couple friends and I came to this restaurant on Saturday for their birthday dinners. Upon entering, it has a really nice atmosphere but is a small place. They've got a wine bar, high table tops, and a small lounge area. In a separate part, they've got a dining area. It started getting busy as the night got later but our waiter did a superb job tending to us and everyone else. We had a glass of wine each & the food was good. Spent over three hours there! The atmosphere to me was very classy and I loved it! Definitely would come here again!

It might seem odd to go to a wine bar when you don't drink wine, but the menu looked good enough and I was feeling a little tired of the usual spots, so...I decided to give it a go. I went on a weeknight and the place was surprisingly dead. It's a nice, quiet little restaurant with a really cozy feel, and you get your choice of couch seating, bar tables, or sitting at the bar. For dinner, I opted to try the truffle macaroni and some kind of steak served over truffle popcorn. The macaroni was really good - creamy and salty with a hint of truffle flavor.. The steak was a little weird and not especially tender, but it was a pretty good value for the price. Service was polite and attentive, but not especially friendly. One thing that stuck out is that they didn't even attempt to recommend or sell our table any wine. I kind of expected at least a mention of it, given that it was a wine bar.

I went to 58 Degrees and Holding about a month ago and had horrible service. I was in a big group and our server didn't write any of our drink orders down. Because she didn't write anything down, she kept bringing out the wrong orders and leaving them at our table. To top things off, she was drinking (while working), slurring out orders to us, and just completely unprofessional. When it came time to pay the bill, it was wayyy off. I am giving 58 Degrees 3 stars because of the way management handled the situation when we brought it to their attention. The manager was fantastic, helped us sort out our bill, and was very apologetic. I do believe this was an isolated incident and would probably return...but if you get a blurry eyed drunk server, then it was probably the same girl!

This place is great for meeting up with a couple of friends and having a glass of wine. They have seating at the bar and a few miscellaneous bistro tables and then large couch areas to sit and chat. Their menu offers a nice variety of items and their wine list is extensive, offering something for all different taste buds. If you sit outside it's a great areas to people watch too.

My wife and I used to stop in regularly, but the last few times the service has been sub par and sometimes non existent... especially on SUNDAY. Typically when we go, we order several small plates and a bottle of wine... Our bill is usually close to $100 including tip for lunch or dinner. yikes... But we love this type of concept and eating experience, so we don't mind the price once and a while. Most days you will receive great food, great service and great conversation. However, on SUNDAY do not bother coming into this place. Ownership should really evaluate the service staff on this day. We've been in on two separate Sunday's and experienced the same..."rude, I don't want to be at work, but I have to service every time." To me, having been in the restaurant business, I would rather close on a Sunday than open my business with an employee or employees that don't want to work that shift. Our last Sunday we entered in the wine bar with little acknowledgment and sat at the bar. We sat... and sat... and 15 minutes later given two menus... The bartender still said nothing to this point... Not even a smile... smirk... etc... We sat... waited another 10 minutes while she attended to other tables... etc... There were two servers for a total of 10 people in the place. And finally, we looked at each other and said... LETS GO.... We walked out! Well luckily for us the Press Bistro was 5 mins from opening so we went there instead and enjoyed a wonderful meal with exquisite service. We will likely return, but if the service level doesn't improve, we will find other options.

I am from Los Angeles, sometimes in Sacramento for work. A friend took me to 58 Degrees and it was amazing!! Wonderful, friendly service, great wine recommendations to accompany our meal, and the food was unique and flavorful. We enjoyed an appetizer that included bacon jam - yummy! I also had a warm, light mushroom soup, along with perfectly grilled salmon and quinoa cake. Fantastic combination. You can also order "tastes" of wine, only 3 ounces, which is perfect for a weeknight or to try something new. Loved this place; can't wait to visit again!!

When I want some wine in Sacramento downtown, this is where I go to have a glass, or two, or a few! My friend and I come here all the time to just sit, chat, catch up, and enjoy a glass. This last time I came I had the best experience at the bar. Usually, we sit at a table and order a bottle but we wanted to switch it up. Well for some odd reason my tastebuds seemed to make everything I tasted/ordered, tangy. The bar manager took back the bottle we ordered, let me try 3/4 different wines before I actually ordered a glass. First off, the person who opened the bottle for me did not let me taste before pouring, bad move. Also, the first server who suggested the first bottle, ended up being super tangy. I've been here many times and I'll always come back. They have a pretty good happy hour, I haven't had any food there. Just their chocolate plate.

Really liked this place. Bartender was super-friendly. When I told him I was waiting for friends, he suggested that I claim our space early, as there are no reservations at the wine bar. The interior is warm and inviting, typical of a rustic mountain lodge (or my living room). We had a couple glasses of wine and some tapas. Great place to meet friends after work.

I love this place! The wine list (and shop) is extensive. I'm always impressed by the unique and ever-changing menu that accompanies the spectacular wines. Perfect for happy hour and date nights. The atmosphere is low key and very relaxing. The best wine bar I've found in Sacramento.

I would come here with my stylist after getting my hair done about every 6-8 weeks... I really like the location, and the staff is nice...but the last 2 times I've come here there have been problems. First time, service was slow and we were billed for our food and the food of people who sat at our table before us...not sure if they "dined and dashed" which could be easy to do on the patio, but we certainly didn't eat their food...trying to get it removed was a pain in the neck. Our server was nowhere to be found, I had to get up and go to the bar and explain the situation to her, she had to flag down our server.... The second time the nothing bad happened to me (I learned my lesson and got the Mac&Cheese lol) but my friends weren't never happy with their meals. The pasta was over salted and the scallops were overdone. My friend mentioned her overly salty pasta and the chef got us a free dessert on the house which was yummy and nice....but overall it was kind of a bummer.... Think we will be going elsewhere for our after salon dinner from now on.

What an enjoyable happy hour! We had a choice between house red or white, and they bring you a glass and a little mini glass decanter with enough vino for another snoot-full. (The white was awesome, by the way.) There are couches for lounging, jazz playing at a very pleasant level, and super attentive servers. The atmosphere was subdued, chill-mode, very nice after a long day of slaying the dragon. Wow! So happy we came here. We ordered a few appetizers to go with our wine. The Mini Mac was fantastic, (tangy and creamy, the truffle oil and breadcrumb crust were both awesome). We also ordered the trio of bruschetta: we picked prosciutto and apple (pretty good, kinda meh), roasted garlic and bleu cheese (yum), and burrata and balsamic with sea salt, (YUM). Verdict: Awesome happy hour, tasty appetizers, cool ambiance. Go for sure!

A Solid 4.5 Stars in my book! This has become my favourite lunch spot in Sacramento. Though the interior is charming, I've never sat inside, as the patio is so very lovely! The food is terrific and incredibly fresh- the portions aren't huge and it's a little pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth. For Brunch, the Prawns Benedict is to die for: Flavourful & Elegant. Another hit was a delicious, delicate, salad with blue cheese & grilled butterfish. How one succeeds in making blue-cheese delicate, I'll never know! On our most recent visit, we ordered the cream puffs with mascarpone and chocolate ganache. I will swear up & down that I have *never* had better. Ever. Not even in Paris. Scrumptious. Even if you don't feel you have the room... Order them! Their wines are exquisitely chosen. I love that I can pop into their store and just purchase a bottle of whatever it is I've tasted. If you happen to be a fan of sparkling wine, they pour a Cremant d'Alsace Rose from Domaine Allimant Laugner that is one of the most delectable glasses of bubbles I've had (And for such a reasonable price!). Service is hit or miss. I often don't notice, however, as I lose myself in the delicious wine and food, as I people-watch and soak up the sun!

Had the Parpadelle. Delish! Paired with some wine and cheese platter. Dinner was among one of the most enjoyable: light and tasty. Patio seating is awesome, just not so much for the humid nights. Very light table seating, but great place socialize and lounge with some wine and cheese. Definitely, going back to try their various menus. If it's on a plate and coming from this place, you won't be disappointed!

The last time I felt sexy? Nihon Whiskey Bar in SF. Oh, and lest we forget, Perbacco. Perhaps it was the dimmed lighting. Or the soft plush cushions that envelope. Or the exquisite group of Prada-clad Italian men within our company. Sexy accents and a sexy environment go hand in hand, or it must be my conscious affection for men in well tailored suits. Sadly, that was the last time I felt sexy. So saying, after feeling quite vibrant after a wonderful group meal at Burgers & Brew, I knew that we did not want the evening to end, so a small group of the ladies decided to hit this wine bar. I had never been, so it was going to be a good experience. Walking over there from Fremont Park for the well heeled folks? Not too good. In the end, I was very thankful for my platform sandals. Passing by the noisy din that usually emanates from Zocalo's we found respite within the copper/crimson hues glowing from next door. What a great concept of a wine bar! Finally, something that invites one in for a seat and a little quiet conversation rather than having to deal with belting music and equally as loud shrewd people. Lounges and comfortable couches are arranged to take advantage of much space as possible, all the while encouraging clients to sit or mingle. I ordered a glass of the Cecchi "Bonizio" Sangiovese di Maremma. A nice peppery Red, priced reasonably at $6.50 a glass. With this in hand, we proceeded to have a perfectly observant and lucid conversation that is usually kept flowing between women. In addition to wines, they have a wonderful list of flights/bites as well as lunch and dinner for the nibble minded. I am interested in their charcuterie plate in the future. A great staff. Great client base of unpretentious and subdued adults. Nice environment conducive to enjoying wine and conversation: I've found the next level in sexy and it starts right here.

MUST GO HERE! This is definitely one of the best places for food and wine in Sacramento. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. Super personable. They understand the experience you want and make it even better. The menu has unique items that are masterfully crafted to satiate every taste bud. Some of the best food I have ever eaten and a amazing selection of wine. Highly, highly recommended. If you had to go one place in sacramento, this should be it!

I luv how this wine lounge is decorated inside! Its perfect for winding down the weekend with a glass of many deliciously tasting wines to select from! The indoor seating is set up lounge-style with comfortable couches and loft furniture to enhance the business wining and dining experience! Dim lighting goes well with wine and flavorful appetizers, as this wine lounge will please you and company waiting for the next weekend to arrive!

Holy shit, how have I not reviewed this place yet?? It's my favorite spot in downtown Sac! Hell, my husband and I came in twice this weekend alone! The wine list is great - they have an awesome selection if bubbles, whites, reds, and dessert wines. As well as a large selection of beers. Their wine shop is attached to the bar so you can browse while you sip. The food is excellent (mostly small plates) and pairs well with the wines - ask the bartenders for recommendations cuz they know their stuff. Brunch is served on Sat & Sun mornings too (and Sunday is no-corksge day). Good ambient music, great service (albeit sometimes a tiny bit slow), perfect midtown location, oh and clean bathrooms!!

I have been here on several occasions, mainly on Sunday evenings. They offer $15 dollars off all bottles of wine which is an awesome deal because the place is so cute and the food is good that you will guaranteed have more than just one glass of wine. Their menu is a bit small but the food is definitely tasty and very well presented. My fav is the hanger steak sandwich with melted brie (yum) add caramelized onions...and their mac & cheese. I definitely recommend this place for gathering with a few friends or for a date night. I'm looking forward to trying their brunch... I just wish they offered bottomless mimosas or maybe they do but isn't on the menu =)

This is one of my favorite places in midtown. Sunday is the best here. Great brunch menu and wine selection. Perfect place to sit down and get a flight of beer or wine. The whole experience is relaxing and delicious. There's a small little patio for people watching and catching up with friends. I will keep coming back.

5 stars because they carry excellent wine with a highly knowledgable staff. They have a bar, table seating, and couches. I was able to get a seat on the couches and had an excellent time. I'd highly recommend getting a recommendation from the staff over making a self pick. If you get food, ask for a pairing. Your experience will be better than if you go rogue.

All I have to say is .. wow! Jessica was our server from start to finish. She was attentive and knowledgeable. The place was cozy, comfortable and clean. The atmosphere was fantastic...a full house with a casual scene on an upscale level. PERFECT! A place you want to have a relaxing ladies' night or small group event, or a place you can consider romantic for that date of yours. Fantastic food..and the pictures tell the tale. Every single thing we had was DELICIOUS from the appetizer, to the entress, to the desserts along with the recommended wines. DELICIOUS! I WILL DEFINITELY be back! TrkStr says #1!

This is a type of place where you can rekindle friendships, smalltalk with buddies, or sweet talk your luva! The ambiance is warm and social. I came here for cheese, charcuterie, and wine tasting. Perfect place to go if you're thinking dinner and movie without having to worry about all that extra bloat and fullness from a typical meal. Wine and dine as the servers enlighten you about the different wines you can taste. I tried the white wines and I was very impressed with my choices! 1. d'Asti Moscato: bubbly champagne that is very enjoyable, sweet 2. Shramsberg: very easy to drink, sweet like muscat 3. Chardonnay: lingers a little longer on your tongue but wonderful My absolute favorite was the Shramsberg that I was so glad I tried! If you're into sweet white wines, I suggest you try it. I love love loved it so much that I want to come back and purchase a bottle from the store attached to the restaurant. I was delighted to discover this weekend that Shramsberg's vineyard is in Napa- in very close distance to V Sattui, St Supery, and others. I will be sure to check it out. oh the surprises that life brings us :)

What a pleasant surprise! My friends and I stopped here for a drink after dinner and had a great time. We only ordered wine so I can't speak of the food. The wine list was great and you could order by the glass or the bottle. I really appreciate that they offer some great bottles at an affordable price. We shared a bottle of red and I was also impressed with their steam wear. Most places do not use proper steam wear, or use the same glass for red and white. Here the glasses were perfect for swirling. Our waitress was super nice and made a spot for us on the patio even though it was pretty full and checked on us often. Definitely a great spot for a drink in a relaxed atmosphere.

58 degrees may turn into my go to "girls night out" spot from now on. I love the option of 3 oz. and 6 oz. pours so that I can explore the menu without becoming too inebriated! And of course you can always order a bottle. The wine list is extensive and is broken down by types: light, medium and full bodied which I appreciate because I'll be the first to confess that I'm no expert on wine aside from really enjoying a glass or two; however, I do know that I prefer bold wines to light, crisp varieties. This menu helps me narrow down my choices. The ambiance is cozy and modern. Brick interior, nice high top tables and a lounge section in the back with comfy sofas and ottomans. Most items on the food menu sound devilishly tempting. I sampled the mac and cheese, bruschetta (you choose three) and olives. The mac and cheese is deliciously rich. I recommend sharing the plate with someone because of its decadence. The service was great at first but then slipped as the evening progressed. During both my visits, I found the staff/bartenders quite knowledgeable but would be remiss if I didn't point out that the staff's attentiveness to patrons is lacking a bit. That isn't to say that the service was horrible; it was just fine. However, I think the level of service should reflect the inviting and intimate nature of 58 degrees itself. Friday nights are bustling and Sunday afternoons at 58 degrees are perfect for lounging at the bar. I can't wait for my next visit.

After a recent trip to Napa, my girlfriend & I decided this would be a good place to go for her birthday dinner. It was the perfect spot since it's quiet enough to actually hear your friends talk without anyone shouting. We noticed that the menus were on the smaller side, but still had a nice selection to choose from...especially the huge wine menu! We mainly ordered off of the happy hour menu since everything was reasonably priced. The mac&cheese, bruschetta & ahi tartare all tasted fresh & delicious...all must tries! We even had left overs to bring home! This place is great for newbie wine drinkers as well. They serve wine by the taste, glass or bottle...so you can have a little of everything! So why did I only give it 4 stars if I enjoyed this place so much? Well the waiter we had at first, although helpful & nice, was a bit on the creepy side.

Perfection! Yes it might be a bit pricey, perhaps you're not a wine lover, but this place is designed to please. You're taste buds will thank you when you settle into the comfy couches and order quality food. We ordered the Artisansal cheese plate - take a chance on this and you won't be disappointed! We also had the exceptional steak sandwich on fresh, toasted bread. Lastly, we ordered a mocha dessert with the recommended pairing; the perfect, sweet, light finish to a well spent evening. Even my beer drinking boyfriend was delighted with our Sacramento find! ( and there's beer here, too) I'll be seeing you A LOT 58 Degrees and Holding!

Great place for a little catch up with friends. Dishes are served tapas style, which is great, since it allows me to try different dishes without getting too stuffed. All of the dishes I ordered taste great! Trio bruschetta, macaroni, salmon.. The desserts were awesome too: choco tart + creme brulee. If you do go, you should go there at night and sit outside. Oh, and don't forget to order a wine for the perfect ambiance! :)

I met a few friends here a few nights ago. This was my first time here. It is located in a great spot, especially if you are on foot, so parking wouldn't be an issue. I really enjoyed the interior: warm and inviting. We sampled a few different red wines with the help of one of the knowledgeable servers. The shop is also nicely laid out so you can easily find a bottle of a wine you like for purchase. This is a great place to go to if you are looking to spend some time in a mature, quiet environment or if you just feel like trying a new wine.

This place has been a favorite of mine for the last couple years. Ample and diverse wine and beer lists that change several times per year combined with top notch small plates, entrees, and in house desserts. Wine available in "taste", "glass", and "bottle" portions. The attached wine shop has an even wider selection of bottles although if you buy one there to have with dinner I believe they DO charge you corkage. I don't quite understand that. It can sometimes be difficult to find a seat around 6-ish when the downtown office crowd heads out for a drink. I have tried almost everything on the food menu at some point, which also changes enough (to incorporate the latest seasonal ingredients) to keep you on your toes. Some of my favorites include: Truffle Mac n Cheese Bruschetta (choose 3 toppings which include combinations of fruit/cheese, compotes, burrata mozzerella, meats) Ramen Soup with egg-over-easy and pork belly "Petite Burgers" (Sliders) Hanger steak Tartare (hamachi, salmon, or beef - varies with season) Dessert items vary but some staples I like are some sort of chocolate torte/cake, a seasonal fruit crisp/streusel, a few sorbets/gelatos (honey lavender!). At one point they offered a selection of chocolate truffles from Ginger Elizabeth around the corner, which I really enjoyed. But wait! There's More! 58 Degrees opened for brunch last year on Saturdays and Sundays. Wish they opened at 9am, not 10, but their brunch menu knocks it out of the park as well. Egg and Cheese sandwich and Biscuits & Gravy are good (they even offered a vegetarian sausage option!) but the thing to absolutely not miss is the mascarpone cheese-stuffed French Toast. Brunch here is still a well-kept secret; when there is an hour wait at Orphan, Tower Cafe, or Cafe Bernardo's, there will be enough room here for your whole family

Great selection of Oregon Pinot Noir...I recommend going here on a Sunday night when you can purchase the wine from their cellar and not pay any corkage fee(Free Corkage night). The steak tartare is decent, the cheese plate is excellent, not so sure about the salmon spread...tastes like canned Tuna. The ambience is nice and the service is excellent. One of the better wine bars in Sacramento...

My guy and I have been here twice and plan on going again! The ambiance is relaxing, the staff is amazing and the food is superb! The staff is very knowledgeable about the wine and beer selections and have never steered us wrong in pairings. This is a great date spot and would be a nice place for friends to unwind and enjoy a great meal and a little libation. A true Midtown gem!

This place was so tasty. I went to bed that night dreaming of the chocolate torte my 'play date' and I ordered after a bottle of red and the asparagus salad/steak sandwich. Everything tasted great, but they really tasted even better because of the simple and fresh environment. Oh and our waitress was AWESOME. Thanks Kate.

The service was top notch and the waiter offered us more than a simple meal service but a great appraisal of the area. We are currently deciding, if Sacramento is the place for us to live OR a place to commute to. The server went above and beyond... IF food were the only requirement, then we would be in Sac-Town!! No matter our decision this is a great place to eat, if you are ever in the Sacramento area. We had the Trio of Bruschetta with the normal tapas flair it was bound with flavor and left you wanting more. We also sampled the "Duck Pappardelle". The "Duck Confit" was paired nicely with the Marques de Cáceres Rioja. The wine pairing greatly enhanced the meal and allowed for the full flavor of the duck to be appreciated. They have French Press Coffee. Need I say more?!?!

  • Michael A.

Hmmm all the ingredients food wise so I would bump it a star for that. But really-charge a dollar for more bread?? With a $24 cheese appetizer? French press coffee that took a long time to get and was lukewarm. Delicious sliders that came unaccompanied by any condemns and when I asked for mustard, it arrived two sliders in...get your service act together folks ban staff watching TV from the bar no matter who is playing. They need to practice their own game.

Wine bars are few and far in between here in downtown Sacramento. 58 Degrees and Holding is definitely a great place that this city needs to hold onto. The brick exterior houses an amazing and relaxing bar and dining area. Also attached is a wine room with bottles out for your purchase. I come here a few times a month just to grab a glass of wine (or 2 or 3) and just relax. The calm and cool environment lets me unwind and forget about the stress and headaches of the day. I am a sucker for the Malbec here. On the rough days I will splurge on some charcuteries too. Food here is great as well. The ramen bowl is comforting and the ahi is nice. The servers here are very nice and will answer all your questions or give you suggestions without making you feel like you don't belong. Every server I have had here has made me feel like I can enjoy a glass of wine without graduating out of my social class. From soft dessert wines to bold, in your face reds, this place has something to please anyone's palette. Whether you are a wine snob or a newbie, this place will make you feel at home. I highly recommend it. This place has become a sort of therapy for me. Stress relief.... check!

Am I missing something? This place has a bad case of the Emperor's New Clothes (ooh! ahh! this place is awesome!) and I am impelled to take the honest town child's role and call its bluff. I REALLY wanted to like this place and picked it due to its stellar reviews. I wanted to treat one of my best girlfriends out to a nice, classy dinner on her birthday, so we came in one Wednesday night. At first glance, the space is cozy--who doesn't love exposed brick and rounded archways? However, after getting seated and looking more closely at the surroundings, the place was like a donkey dressed in designer-wear: it tried way too hard to be classy. The rectangular, claustrophobic storage-box space was filled with random, garish artwork on the walls and had a confusing wine-room-yet-lounge-yet-bar theme--none of which was successfully executed. We self-seated and after a while, a petite blonde finally came around and wordlessly handed us menus. Everything on there looked promising, but again, looks can be deceiving. Both the wine and the food were meh at best. We ordered (and split between us) the 3-cheese plate, the pork belly skewers, the duck salad, and the gnocchi. It's not a good thing if the best dish out of the four was the cheese plate. What surprised me about each of the dishes was the laughably miniscule amount of food placed on each platter. The pork belly came in the form of four square gelatinous pieces shoved on a stick, the gnocchi had about five pieces swimming in a broth with wilted veggies, and the duck salad. Hmm, how to describe this "salad." It was essentially four paper-thin slices of cured duck underneath a scattering of capers, edamame, some other leaf that looked like a weed, and included other ingredients that had the crunchy consistency of sand and an overall taste that was bitter, salty and sour all at the same time. I will eat anything, but this is the first restaurant dish that I've ever eaten that I didn't like. Every dish tried so hard to be avant garde and original that in the end they all lacked in quality, quantity and good flavor. The only redeeming quality about this establishment was our waitress. I forget her name, but if you ever come here, I hope you have her (tall, brunette). She was thoughtful and kind--almost apologetically nice. I feel so embarrassed for having taken my friend here for her birthday. We were still hungry afterward, so we actually left to grab some dessert at Tower. Just because a place is in Midtown does NOT mean it will automatically be classy or worth the money. Maybe it was an off day or maybe they're better geared toward HH, lunch, or brunch. Whatever the case, our underwhelming, unsatisfying, and overly expensive dinner just didn't cut it and I'm honestly not curious enough about whatever else they have to offer to return.

Thank you to Chelsea for making my evening great! I brought my assistant for her graduation and 21st birthday. We has the charcuterie, cheese plate, and 3 bruscetta with a bottle of champagne. Our service was exceptional the entire 3 hours we camped out. We ended up staying later than expected and had a few tastes of wine to decide on a final glass. Chelsea was leaving and turned us over to Amber, who was equally as fabulous as Chelsea. Thank you to 58 Degrees for hiring such wonderful staff and to the chefs for making the food delectable!

If you have time to burn and would like to spend it hanging out and eating some great food and being a whino, come here. So after burning out as SacMoFo, we came here for some much needed wine and food. The delicious shaved asparagus salad was hands down the best thing I have eaten recently that didn't have bacon in it. The service was slighty slow but hell I didn't have any where to go and it was nice to not be rushed. Such a nice respite from the hustle and bustle outside.

I am a big fan! I love the atmosphere of this place. It was suggested to me by a fellow Yelper as a great spot for a first date. I arrived early on a Sunday evening and claimed a seat on one of the couches. I took a few moments to observe the other patrons. Everyone was enjoying themselves. The clientele seemed mostly young professionals, meeting with friends or on dates. It is a very cozy atmosphere. The waiter took a long time to notice me and bring me a menu, but I think it was because I was alone and waiting for someone. As soon as I ordered, he was very attentive. He was able to recommend an excellent glass of wine, and seemed very knowledgeable about the available choices. I was a little disappointed in the menu in that only two flights were featured. I believe this type of a establishment could really offer an opportunity for people to sample and learn about different types of wine. Still, I really enjoyed both visits here. Sacramento needs more places like this! I will return and bring more of my friends!!!

It's a great date spot! Both their food and wine here are impressive, though on the slightly more expensive end (don't expect "house wine" for $5 or greasy finger food). The wine menu is extensive without being intimidating, and the waiters & waitresses are happy to give suggestions. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is upscale but friendly. No one tries to push the expensive wines on you like many wine places. On Sunday nights there is no corkage fee, meaning they take off $15 from your bill if you buy a bottle! (This doesn't include bringing in outside bottles - this means purchasing from their store or menu). Sunday nights - this is my new place. Over in the wine store area they have a really great selection - lots to choose from at a variety of prices. It's close to the capitol, so why not take a nighttime stroll after your glass? :)

This place has a very nice vibe, esp for Sac. The decor is nice, service is good, and the I can hear the person next to me without shouting. I like the lounge atmosphere the couches give off for just a nice chill night out with friends. The food is also really good here. Looking at this place you'd think it would be really expensive, but prices here are actually fairly low for the quality. Some of the things I have gotten are the steak sandwich, blue cheese burger, and bruschetta. All of it has been pretty good.

I really like this place. I always look forward to catching up w/ good company and great wine. The wines I had were: Luna di Luna Moscato (5/5) (oh, sooooo good!) J.J. Christoffel "Erdener Treppchen" Riesling Kabinett (5/5) (bit on the sweet side) August Kesseler Pinot Noir (4.5/5) (right on target about being a 'light red') (what can I say I love my wine!) My buddie had merlot (but I can't comment on that because I didn't try it). Food we order were: Sliders Salmon tartar Chicken tacos Chocolate tart Clearly, the owner(s) are very careful and thoughtful on what they put on their wine list. I love the attention and respect they give to wine! This place will continue to my go to place for an upscale treat when I am in town. I miss this place. Shouda yelped this place many many years ago..

Nice location and an interesting wine list, although I would have prefered it was a bit more balanced between new and old word wines. Chris is an excellent server. They offer free wireless service, which makes it nice if you want to have a couple drinks and work on the computer. Cheers!

Sunday... raining like the dickens.... and here I find myself back in my old neighborhood... A lot has changed... but a lot remains the same. One of the things about my old neighborhood (I used to live at 23rd & N in my younger and poorer days) is that its been a hotbed for new and innovative little restaurants. The Famous Rick's Desert Diner got its start in the area and so did Java City. So here I am back... gravitating to beat of this area. I've been wanting to try a little enoteca, 58 degrees, for quite a while. Sunday seemed sleepy enough and goddess knows I was wet enough. I called it an enoteca after the typical little wine merchant/restaurant so popular in urbane Italy. The idea that food and wine should be married seems natural there. Not so much in American though I hope people learn better. We wander in, Stormy and I, hoping to get a nibble and a glass for lunch. We easily got seated in the bar/dining area just off from the store. I'm not sure I totally understand why the owner separated the two pieces... maybe building codes... it didn't seem logical to me. I noticed right away, a very good sign, that there was a state of the art wine siphon for proper decanting of individual glasses. They must have had at least 15 offerings hooked up. Obviously, they wanted to have a good experience and not waste wine. Made me very happy. We had a look at a menu and I was a little astonished to see a fairly decent appetizer selection as well as some heartier entrees. Stormy and I decided to munch on appetizers. Guess it just fits with being a little older. We prefer to nibble these days. We'd been watching a show on Provence the other day and so were pleased to see a reasonable selection of French wine. We ordered a bottle of Cote Du Rhone Village as Stormy was unfamiliar with this appellation. It turned out rich and full and ever so inviting. Best of all, since it was Sunday there was a discount on the purchase of a bottle. A significant discount, I might add. Somehow this made the wine taste even lusher! We got a nice bruschetta plate, some nuts and a cold cut plate. The bruschetta was a wonder though the crustini were a bit thin for my taste. The nuts were a surprise. Toasted with a chili coating. They were not too picante and nicely flavored. Probably the biggest surprise was the cold cut plate. It was definitely French in influence with a nice pork riette, some chevre, sliced meats and various pickled things with a wondrous dollop of whole ground mustard. Paired with the wine it was a perfect complement. Were we happy? I should say so. The service was good. The wine list extensive if on the pricey side and the food was above our expectations. The European palate displayed by the chef made me think back to Italy even if there were definite french and spanish notes. Now you know why I keep being drawn back to this part of the Sacred Tomato...

I really want to be in love with this place. I want to give it five stars and be able to fully stand behind it, but alas, I can't. Let's start with the positives: 1. The location is great 2. The patio is also great (but not if you are with a big group) 3. They have a nice interior space 4. The soups are generally inventive and delicious (and the $5 dollar price tag is awesome for the amount you get) 5. The bruchetta - I love that they have so many different kinds and that you get to mix and match!! The negatives: 1. The food is sometimes hit and miss (ex. the bruchetta and soup rock, but I had a pasta that was so offesnively salty it hurt my tounge) 2. Service can be slow 3. The way they price their wines. Yes, I always forget that the first price is the tasting price, which is my fault, but it always leaves me a little surprised at my bill - I just wish they would put the full glass price first As you can see the positives outweight the negatives and I will return here. I think in the future I might stick to bruchetta and beer!!

Really, what's not to love about this cozy atmosphere filled with wine, great service, really great food and enviable wine knowledge. Last time I was there, I had a honey lavender gelato pair with a dessert wine. Oh my stars, my mouth was screaming on the inside! Not sure what that was like for my friends but hey, what can I say? Get the cheese plate, sliders or crab cakes. This would be a fantastic time to say, "would you like some cheese with that wine?".

We stumbled on this when we were driving around downtown and man are we glad we did. The dining area has limited seating, which makes it a nice cozy atmosphere, even though it has pretty high ceilings so it's definitely not stuffy and does not seem tiny. I have been here twice, once with my boyfriend and the two of us liked it so much that we invited my brother and his girlfriend to join us the next time. We ordered the mac n cheese, which was great. We got the cheese plate, which tasted like cheese, so that's good. We also ordered the duck, which was delicious. I can't remember what else we got, maybe the brussels...whatever it was, I don't remember disliking anything. They also have a ton of wine choices!

Stop number two on the birthday hop. I really like the look of 58 Degrees and Holding. The sofas and tables make it feel like you are being invited over by a friend to hang out and have a drink. Unfortunatly, this friend needs to buy a bigger house because coming here on a Friday evening with a large group will lead to half your group standing in the crowded area. Generally speaking the place is very nice looking, although the pictures of the chilis everywhere really annoyed me. What do chilis have to do with a wine bar? I could understand pictures of chocolate and cheese but chilis? Not so much. Since this was the stop after our dinner, I didnt order any food or dessert, but what I saw on other peoples tables looked very pretty and smelled quite good as well. The employees were very polite, although some were definitely more knowledgeable and willing to talk to you about the kind of wine you are wanting to try. For example, I asked one of the men behind the counter about their dessert wines and I got a couple choices thrown at me. Seeing as I am not very knowlegeable in dessert wines I really didnt know which one I would like more, so I just picked one of the wines that was suggested. Now my roommate decided he wanted a dessert wine as well and talked to one of the woman behind the bar who asked him all these questions about if he wanted it more syrupy or smooth and how sweet he wanted it to be. I just felt like she did a really great job of insuring my roommate a wine that he would enjoy. Other then that the staff was all very polite and seeing as I was the DD for the night I could only enjoy one glass of wine. When I requested water I was given my drink promptly and one of the woman always came around to make sure my glass was never empty. I would like to come back to this place with maybe a few less people and order some food before I can say whether I am a fan of this place or not. But for now it most definitely earned its three stars.

After reading the great reviews I was really excited to enjoy a family member's birthday at 58 Degrees. I could not have been more disappointed. I did enjoy our wine but nothing else. Could it be that the chef had gone home early? The food did not resemble the photos on their website nor did the quality come close to what I expected or read on Yelp/TripAdvisor. The Trio of Bruschetta was horrible and the 58 Club turkey | prosciutto sandwich was as well. I was expecting real carved turkey not gelatinous deli turkey. The Spice-Crusted Ahi was nearly inedible. Total bummer,

Great place for dates of all kinds.... meeting friends for happy hour, first date with a hottie, rekindling old flames, or a night out with your love. It's a sophisticated crowd, quiet and relaxed. The bar area is small....it's wise to get here early to snag a spot so you can enjoy happy hour with your date(s). The food is really good and the small plates are perfect for sharing. My favorites are the bruschetta and cheese plate appetizers.

Interesting wine bar, quite a decent atmosphere. I'm reviewing the food though. Ordered the olives, which were too salty for my taste; also had the Salmon, which was decent, somewhat pricey. I loved the quinoa cakes that came with the salmon though.

58 degrees has always been one of my favorites but after my most recent visit this past Sunday I felt compelled to Yelp them. First and foremost, they have $15 off every bottle of wine on Sunday nights- what a deal!! We got an amazing bottle of wine for a great price so they really could have had crappy food and I still would have been happy. But that was not the case at all, I was blown away by the scallop plate we had. For only $12 we had about 6 good sized scallops atop crispy pork belly served with yuzu and English pea puree. This is seriously one of the most amazing dishes I have ever had- executed perfectly and absolutely delectable!!!!! I have made it a goal to come here as much as I can while they still have that on the menu, it is THAT good. Their charcuterie plate here is also pretty kick ass. The service here is always top notch- I love their staff. One of their employees, Kara, is actually a sommelier. I just moved about 3 blocks away so I am definitely looking forward to being more of a regular here!

I have been to this place twice now, and I LOVE their beer selection. Many Belgian ales and European lagers, which I love, and the food's pretty good (great sliders). This last time there was an issue with an overcharge on my credit card, but after I wrote a review about how disappointed I was that they would over charge me, the restaurant's manager looked into it, sent me a message explaining how my credit card charge was transposed with another receipt from the same night, and sent me a personal message explaining the error and that he had refunded me the entire tip amount (not just the overcharged portion) on my card. I very much appreciate that the manager took the time to look into this matter, and that he sent me a personal message explaining what transpired. And I wanted to amend my prior poor rating for this restaurant to a more appropriate rating.

While I do enjoy the occasional glass of wine, I wouldn't consider myself a wine bar person. There's a lot you need to know about wine to be a wine bar person, and I know very little of it. However, I didn't feel out of place at 58 Degrees. They have an impressive selection of wine and a knowledgeable staff (who were surprisingly unpretentious), and a comfortable couch-heavy atmosphere. A classy joint that isn't trying to be more than it is. I wouldn't normally go to a wine bar to watch sports, but I caught one of the World Series games here, and it actually made for a good time. They also have an impressive wine store attached to the bar. The place is pricey, and you can easily rack up a bill if you're not careful, but if you're looking to classy-up your night, this is a great stop.

This place has a great selection of wines and a great food menu with small bites. Staff is friendly and knowledgable, and the service is sometimes slow but always attentive. Perfect spot to grab a nice glass of wine/appetizer before dinner or a show.

Excellent wine selection, constantly changing. The bartenders and many of the servers are very knowledgeable. I find a new wine on almost every visit. Also, the food is great -- small plates, entrees, charcuterie -- never had anything bad.

This is the story of the drunk girl and the egg. We came here yesterday and drank our weight in wine. Which as you know, makes you hungry. So looking at their menu, there is not much without meat on there. I notice they have a really yummy looking asparagus salad with bacon on it, and some other salads with poached egg. So I ask if I can switch the bacon for an egg. The waitress comes back a minute later and says the chef said no because he didn't think it would taste good. That totally blew my mind. I don't really care what the chef thinks - I'm the customer and that's what I want!! So my fiance and I can't stop talking about it, and I think the watiress heard and told the chef I was a little incensed about it. So he comes out and tells me he doesn't think it would taste good. In as nice a wine fueled voice as possible, I explain to him that I need some protein and it sounds good to me. He agrees to compromise and give it to me on the side. Fine, whatever. Just give me the stupid egg!! The chef then sent us out a bowl of nuts so I could have protein. Very nice gesture! So, I get my salad and a poached egg in a little dish on the side. I immediately dumpt the egg onto the salad and eat it. It was sooo good! Why four stars? It gets a lot because the food and wine are so good, I love the ambiance, and the staff is almost always stellar. It loses one because that was a really stupid conversation, and it was really stupid to give me the egg on a side plate. Oh, and I hate their plates and bowls. I know that sounds petty, but they are super new age and look like spaceships and have nowhere on them to rest your silverware when you finish your meal. Strange.

Stopped in here for dessert a couple weeks ago. The flourless chocolate cake was dense/rich delight. Prices were respectable and the service was exceptional. For some reason, I always had the expectation that 58 Degree's would be pretentious and stuffy just by virtue of being a wine bar. I was pleasantly surprised to discover it's simply a great place to enjoy a casual, drink, dessert, or meal.

While I lived in Sacramento, I use to wine and dine here frequently. There was no corkage fee on the weekends, so getting brunch or dinner with a must have bottle wasn't uncommon. The staff was always very friendly and inviting and offered a lot of information about their menu. The environment is genuinely laid back and visually appealing, so it was very easy to have hours pass with a few bottles. Definitely try an assortment of small plates -- you will not be let down. Most importantly, once your bill comes you will be pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the prices are.

My favorite wine bar in town! The food is always reasonably priced for how much you get and for how damn TASTY it is. The service is always impeccable and I always feel welcome, even if I'm not the most knowledgeable wino. The tasting on Wednesdays for $10 are always a great time! My dining mate and I had to fight each other for the gnocchi--it was one of the best gnocchi dishes I've ever had! The seasonal dish was a sweet potato gnocchi w/ chopped pecans and brown sugar to have that sweet and savory tastes. This dish will be one of the only things I will miss as the seasons change... If you get the cheese plate w/ all of the types of cheese ($24), it is big enough for 4 cheese enthusiasts. Though I'm pretty sure I could've eaten the whole plate myself, I refrained from doing so in public. I've only been able to hit up 58 Degrees once for happy hour (if you're reading this, PLEASE extend your happy hour period!) and tried their sliders. It came on a toasted, sliced artisan bread w/ fresh tomatoes/ lettuce and a delicious sauce. Also, the $5 red wine was so good, I would've gladly paid full price for it! So whether it's a Wednesday, weekend night or weekday before 6pm, JUST GO. You will be happy and satisfied either way!

All I can contest to is the BEST glass of Mascato ever. It was like Champagne but without the bubbles. (I love Champagne) I can't wait to sample more wines. My homegirl and I already have a plan to go and do just that. I'll report on the food when I try it.

One of the best kitchens around in Northern CA, a real gem in Sacramento's Handle District whether brunch, lunch, dinner or small plates. Known as a wine bar - people often forget about it as an option for brunch and lunch. This however is a plus for anyone wanting to avoid crowds at popular brunch and lunch places like the Tower or Zocalo's. Comments regarding price are baseless and uninformed - especially those focusing on portions. If you want a trough of American food with factory farmed eggs and meat then visit a drivethru or other sub par eatery. Chef FJ and the kitchen crew of 58 degrees are nearly unmatched in their product. The concepts of balance, integrity and art are all deliciously executed in an affordable manner. Snout to tail, farm to table - great raw ingredients handled by innovative and experienced hands make the seasonal menus stand out. I just ate a "knuckle sandwich" for lunch - a fine example of FJ's culinary prowess as well as his sense of humor. Who knew getting socked in the mouth with complex flavors could be so enjoyable? Personal favorites - legume salad, hangar steak sandwich and any special or soup of the day.

What am I missing here, folks? Decided to dine here on Sunday evening based on the fantastic reviews as well as the no corkage fee. Call ahead to make sure this no-corkage fee thing is for real, because having gone to Napa the previous day, I had plenty of wine I was anxious to try. Call went like this: Me: "Hi, I've never been to your restaurant. Is it true there's no corkage on Sundays if I bring a bottle?" Her: "Yes, its true!" Me: "Great, thank you!" (excited to eat and try wine!) * * * Fast-forward to the evening, show up to the restaurant at 7pm with my boyf and bottle in tow. Waiter comes to the table and tells us that there is a $25 corkage for outside bottles. When I gave him a puzzled look and told him my story, he said that its only for wines you buy next door or that are off the menu. Wait, WHAT?!?! Doesn't this defeat the purpose of no corkage? I'm puzzled, but go along with it and hop next door to grab two bottles. We started out with an OK bottle of French champagne, which our waiter couldn't be bothered to get a bucket of ice to keep it chilled, so it sat on our table and got increasingly warm throughout our first course. RUDE. I thought this was a winebar/lounge?!? And you're not going to keep my bubbly chilled? Already not loving it. Onto the food. Ordered from all over the menu and had a few hits, but many misses. Sent back two small plates for the items to be cooked as we requested, but left feeling duped. Was this really the place that everyone reviewed so highly?!? Our waiter was awkward in handling the situation at best. At the end of the night the bill was about $240 and I'm sad and disappointed - will not be returning.

What the heck happened to this place? At one time, 58 Degrees was a definitive site for wine in Sacramento, with a vibrant retail program and frequent tastings. Now, it's been ages since I received any emails from them announcing any events, and their website is ridiculously out of date (the "New Arrivals" page features exactly four wines, the most recent release being a 2008). A recent visit for a private function (for which the host had already paid a pretty penny) featured the staff shaking me down for a 15 dollar corkage fee for a bottle purchased there that very night, which I myself opened! This place just doesn't seem to care anymore. Too bad, as they used to stand for something where wine was concerned.

The food was OK and quite flavorful. The wine selection was excellent, but I would like to see more local wines in the offering. The staff was very very knowledgeable about the wines they were selling and that was helpful. Although ya know...when they start going off about a hint of chocolate covered this, berry that, oakieness, a bit of smoke, some leather, and just a hint of car exhaust..yadda yadda yadda..whatever. While I can appreciate their exuberance about their wines, after about the third adjective just pour the feckin' wine already...OK? Oh one more recommendation..more outside seating would have been nice..It was a beautiful warm night and we were freezing inside.

We came here to celebrate during happy hour and ate well between the happy hour appetizer prices and a regular dinner entree for me. We escaped for a very reasonable amount -- we have had far less nice dinners for the same price. OK, so I'm a midwestern girl, still trying to learn about wine. I hide my ignorance pretty well, or maybe not. In this case, we just had the happy hour red, which we both enjoyed. We had three kinds of bruschetta. After I saw their loveliness (and keeping in mind the cheap price), I ordered a second round. One was apples and prosciutto. Another was a delicious sort of creamy cheese (related to mozzarella, I'm told.) A third was salami and an olive tapenade. I think I liked the cheesy one the best. I probably didn't need the second order -- the three slices of bruschetta were cut in two for sharing. But hey, they were happy hour prices! The spouse had the four-cheese mini macaroni, which had an interesting flavor and crust. And then I sprung for a dinner entree, the gnocchi with yams. To die for. Seriously. They were like little fluffy pillows -- a little harder on the outside, and light and airy on the inside. I've never had gnocchi like that, and I could see becoming addicted. I'm also not a fan of yams, but the cubed little yams were a delicious counterpoint to the gnocchi. In fact, the whole dish had a slightly sweet taste and was so yummy that I ate it very slowly to enjoy every bite. One of my gauges of a great meal is whether I think I could replicate it. The answer: absolutely not. So delicious to every bite. Little pillows. Dying with hunger just thinking about them. How can I get more? The service was also good and when the spouse asked for a just a small side salad, our server said he'd see if the kitchen could whip something up -- and they did for a reasonable price. We weren't feeling adventuresome or social enough for the wine tasting (again, we're midwesterners, and what do we know about wine?) One word of caution, and certainly not a complaint. The serving size for the entree was small, but that meant that I was not uncomfortably full for a change, even with the extra appetizer order. The spouse, with the side salad, could not say the same thing. Fatty Americans, myself included, are used to eating too much food. This was a good serving size and I didn't hate myself for eating it all! We definitely will back, almost certainly for happy hour. Too bad I can't get a direct line on gnocchi at appetizer prices! :)

I came here for their Happy Hour and I went home very happy =) The happy hour menu consists of 5 appetizers range from $4-$6 dollars each. There were few selection of wine for about $6 a glass. I tried all the appetizers and my favorites were the taco trios, mac and cheese, and their mini burgers. My friend had a glass of sparkling wine (recommended by the waiter) and she loved it!! All in all, it's a great place for happy hour.

58 degrees is one of my favorite places to go for just 'chilling' with friends or family. I am not a wine drinker, but love going there just for the ambiance. The happy hour menu has food from around $4-$5. Plus, the cheese plates are awesome and are $4 or $5 a piece for those as well. Trust me, you won't go wrong with any of the cheeses.

They had me at "mushroom". The 4 mushroom lasagne and egg sandwich were pretty delish. They were on the pricey side and options were limited, but lunch was comped (double yum!). It's kinda like AA in here, everyone here dined alone and paired it with wine. Noon? Thursday? Really?? I don't understand how you can drink and return to work. 4 stars just for the lasagne, not the best option for lunch, but perfect for a business lunch. Will be back for the prix fixe dinner menu!

What the hell am I doing at a wine bar? Oh, it's a surprise party for the cousin. Too pricey for the crowd who was invited and not everyone drinks wine, Oh and people were hungry! Why say dinner and we're at a wine bar?! Bad party organizer! Appetizers/food was overpriced.

God I F***ing LOVE this place. The bartender was much nicer today than she was the other day and had no issues, but I could have slapped these two wine snobs at the bar that were talking with our soon to be best friend AT LENGTH about soils and climates and sh!t when I just want to get fed and get out. But the service she was able to provide outside this pair's wine snob madness was exemplary. Those two needed a slap apiece. Truly annoying. Sunny and I almost fainted from the pretentious air around us. Drink your wine and SHUT IT. But aside from those two weirdos (can't be helped) and a seriously disgusting fly issue (I picked a baby one out of my brut rose-there must be a way this can be helped but since I don't know for certain these people can get a pass-for now), my sister and I had a spectacular birthday celebration here. We had the caesar with steak (which the flies loved-ewww!), 2 crabcakes, and the f***ing KILLER macaroni and cheese that almost made me faint it was so damn delicious. For the love of god, I love that Mac and cheese it tastes GOOD! Don't go there without ordering that. Unless you're just mental and can't be helped. Christ! But the crabcakes were nowhere near the same quality that Liz and I enjoyed just 2 weeks earlier. They had too many diced onions and red bell pepper. But at least they were the right texture so I didn't get too grossed out. Eh,... pass. I like this place. A lot. But if they don't regulate that fly shiz I'm gonna start taking it to go. No joke. But, I gotta say, 58 Degrees, I seriously love you. Too much. Delicious. XOXOXO

My coworkers and I decided to have happy hour here. I love the ambiance. We got there early so we were able to score the nice comfy chairs at their lounge. I ordered their sauvignon blanc and pretty much all their bruschetta. All the bruschette were great! My other coworker also ordered their ahi tartare and that was fabulous as well. This is definitely a place I'd go to after work to hang out with friends or coworkers.

Met a friend there after work. It was a Monday and Columbus day so many places were closed. We enjoyed their happy hour appetizers and the $5 wine. The service was good and the food was delicious. Especially good were the olives - the best I have ever had. This is my second visit, and because it wasn't crowded this time, I think I was able to get a better feel for the place. For food, we enjoyed a selection of bruscetta's - Mushroom, fig and apple. They were really yummy. We also had the Mac & Cheese, which was perfectly cooked. After enjoying the happy hour white wine (a Cabernet Sauvignon), I switched to a Rose. Rest assured this is not your parents Rose. Perfectly balanced, not too dry but not sweet. Perfect for a warm evening. Looking forward to our return visit.

While my father was in town, I decided we should check out this place based on all the praise I had heard it was getting. I know this was THE spot for my dad after we checked out the menu online. My father should have been born Italian, as his love of wine, cheese, spiced cured meats, and olives far surpasses anyone's love of many family members. We arrived around 5:30ish and snagged a table. Our waitress (I wish I remembered her name!) was a doll and was very helpful. We ended up ordering a Bleu Cheese plate, the Charcuterie, an extra plate of bread with olive oil and vinegar, and I also got the baby greens salad. The Charcuterie was outstanding! So many foods to mix and match on the little toasted bread slices! While the menu says "for 2", I definitely recommend adding more to your order because it took the rest our order to make us happily full. The Bleu Cheese plate was delish, especially the compote. My salad was scrumptious and was larger than I expected (that's what she said!). My dad and I noshed...and noshed...and noshed some more, while sipping on great wines. I would tell you the names of them, but I forgot, which is typical of drinking alcohol. Even though we were full, our waitress hooked us up with the dessert menu. I chose an orange and chocolate cookie thing, which I also can't remember the name of. It was very good, although I wished the orange flavor popped out more. My dad ordered a bourbon creme brulee. I got to have a nibble and I can say it was delish! The ambiance of 58 Degrees can be described as a 3 C-er: classy, calm, and cozy. Soft, romantic lighting, wine, and great seating with low couches, tables with barstools, or just sitting at the bar. Great place! I highly recommend going here, as I would eat here every night if I could!

So, I hate to give a 3 star review when the vast majority of reviewers have given 4+, but I am reviewing based on my first visit to 58 degrees, which was last night. My two friends and I came in for a glass of wine a little later on in the evening. It definitely was not super packed as I usually see when I walk by on Fri/Sat nights, so I was excited to be able to walk in and grab a table right away. The issue I had was all of the waiting we had to do! Wait an extended amount of time to order, wait longer than seemed necessary to get our wine, and then wait so long to get the bill that we finally just walked up to the counter to ask them to close it out. They never even asked if we wanted a second glass of wine! I guess maybe since we weren't ordering food we were just forgotten about... That being said, our server that took our order was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, and the bartender who closed out our tab was prompt and did not seem to mind splitting our bill for us. After seeing the menu, I definitely plan to try them out for dinner sometime; we will see if the experience is better!

Good food, good wine, cliché atmosphere The good things about this place are very good: the food is well thought out and put together and the wines are outstanding (varied & interesting, always a nice surprise). Service is always fine, too. The prices make this a more special occasion locale, at least for me. The only thing that dings from 5 starts is the atmosphere. You have to lurk for a table, typically among suburbanites in awe of - or simply mesmerized by - a non-Applebee's restaurant. It's all a bit 40-year-old washed up hipster with a Lexus.

I spent the last 3 years of my life living in SF eating the most amazing, unique, fabulous food. Moving back to Sacramento (Elk Grove specifically) has been less than exciting to my taste buds. However, finding this place was like finding the Holy Grail. This is the best wine bar I have EVER been too. Food is fresh, local, in season. The menu is constantly changing with new items that are so creative and pair the most amazing flavors together. And then add the wine on top of all that and we truly have an all around awesome restaurant on our hands. I truly recommend this to everyone who enjoys good food at a reasonable price. Ideal for going out with 2-4 friends and just getting small plates and sharing.

I came here with some friends about two weeks ago and am glad we chose this restaurant. It is a small but cozy place. Tables mostly hold 2-4 people. We went here for dinner and some wine. We ordered appetizers and our entres with wine. The food were delicious and the wine as well. The entre size was perfect...just enough to fill you up but not push you over. I had the salmon with veggies and rice salad. The salmon was crispy on the outside and moist inside...just how I like it. The servers/bartenders were nice. I plan on coming back again....soon.

I'm not picky or anything about wine (red, in a glass) but I know my food. The bruscetta and tuna tartare were stellar as was my friends mac and cheese. Next time I'm getting the ramen (noodles made in house) or the papardelle (hand made also). Pricey but nice for a drink and an app before dinner. My only complaint is the TVs- I get that the men need their ESPN but it's a wine bar not a sports bar!

Great wine selection and friendly wait staff. The appetizers are quite good, albeit a bit pricey and small sized. They have dinner items available, but it's really not that kind of a place. This is a place to try out a lot of wines by the glass. It's also a good place to come with a date. They have a nice outside patio area where you can relax and people watch a bit. I'm sure we will be back.

Was taken here for a birthday. Very nice but we must of gone on wine tasting night. I didn't appreciate them having the free samples right behind my chair so every Tom, Dick and Mary was bumping into me!! The food is great, but tiny just be prepared!! I don't really drink wine I had a beer and a dessert wine both of which were very good. There were a lot of people there for a Wed night. We thought we would get a "quiet" table and ended up being in the middle of the free wine. Would have been nice of them to warn us or even tell us it was going on which no one mentioned. We also had 3 different people waiting on us which was confusing. Overall it was a great night out with a girlfriend and I enjoyed it!

A little pricey, but man does this place have some yummy food. I almost want to give it 5 stars but I felt like the food could have been just a little more fresh. The bruschetta appetizer was yummy and the steak sandwich I split with my friend was also pretty good. Avoid the ramen! Shoki Ramen is the place to go for that stuff. My mistake for ordering it here. Haha.

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm classy. 58 Degrees is a good place for this sort of act. I like to throw on something sophisticated (for me that includes heels and pearls) and head here for a drink date with the beau or a chat fest with the ladies. The ambiance is nice for vino sipping both inside and on the front patio area. The service has always been attentive and friendly, and the wine list has a good variety for both newbies and wine snobs alike. Some surefire hits have included the Riesling, the Tempranillo, the Malbec, the Syrah, and the Moscato. You are hereby forewarned that this place isn't cheap. Though the price is worth it every once in awhile for a nice evening out, at around $10/glass, you may just want to do a lil' pre-tasting at home...with some Two Buck Chuck or other Trader Joe's offering. Classy is so my middle name, right? ;o)

My girlfriend and I came here for some catch up / gossip / girl time. We're both vegan and our server was fantastic about accommodating our irregular eating habits with some slight alterations to their dishes. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much, so I was blown away when I tasted the roasted eggplant bruschetta. It was like heaven in my mouth! We also ordered a bottle of the Walter Hansel Sauvignon Blanc which I plan on enjoying on a very regular basis. This place is cozy (small) and laid back so we decided to keep our chatter out front and enjoyed ourselves. I look forward to spending some more time here.

Great place to chill out and drink wine--service was good and food was great with wine as well. Nice place to relax, unwind and have a good time with friends.

Service: 4 Stars Food: 4 Stars The ambiance here was pretty nice. Not too noisy. Inside the tables are pretty close together, and the table I sat at was next to the wide open windows... right next to a couple dining also. Not three feet from my table was a couple at a bar. Space is limited, needless to say. The service was pretty good given that the place got pretty busy. Since my companion and I don't know much about wine, we didn't know what to order. We randomly ordered Tranchero, one of the sparkling wines. It tasted pretty good. The main reason we came here was for the food. The food. There was a wine and dine menu, but my companion and I decided to get food from the regular menu because there was more varieties in foods. We decided on the Trio of Bruschetta: Mushroom confit, Smoked mozzarella, and Salami. We also got the Steak Tartare, Crab Cakes, and Day Boat Scallops. Out of the Trio, my favorite was the Mushroom confit. It was made with button mushrooms and the tastes were just amazing. The bruschetta was just soft and not soggy where the mushrooms were placed on top, and the outside was nice and crunchy. It made for a nice complement of textures. The smoked mozzarella one reminded me of a tiny pizza really, so I was not too impressed with it. The Salami, I liked the least. I guess the flavors didn't go well enough together for me. The only disappointment in the Trio, is that there was only two of each kind. It wasn't enough. I wanted more. The Steak Tartare's tastes were really good. I love the blend of flavor. The only thing I didn't like about it was the slices of bread-like things they gave us to put the Steak Tartare on was too crispy for me. It was very hard for me to bit into it. The Day Boat Scallops were cooked perfectly. It is so easy to overcook scallops. The scallops were a bit too salty for me, but I like to eat foods with little salt. The scallops with the pork belly was especially salty for me, but the flavor was also very, very good. I wasn't a fan of the pea purée. I would have liked this dish better if it weren't so salty. The Crab cakes are divine. I was in love with them with the first bite. Again, it was the portion size that disappointed me. There were only four tiny crab cakes. But this was still my favorite of the night. We also got a dessert. I can't find their dessert menu on the website, but it was very chocolate-y and somewhat cake like. A load of chocolate-y goodness. There was also a strawberry, and other fruits to mix with the chocolate. It was good, but after a few bites, it became too sweet for me. Overall, the food is really good, but the portions are a little small. I would definitely come here again because the food is just so good.

Definitely a slightly older crowd - dont come here if you are in your 20s. Lots of couples on dates as well. Great selection of wine (to buy and drink at the bar), and even better food. I highly recommend the mac n cheese (not for the faint of heart) and the sliders.

I feel like wine can be one of those things that people make a little too trendy. I enjoy the taste of wine and the price does not matter to me. Some of my favorite wines run for 11 bucks a bottle at Raley's. That being said, I was very skeptical of this place. I was like, Sacramento doesn't grow wine, what the hell can we know about a good glass of grapes?! Apparently a lot! They have a tempranillo by the glass. It is $7 dollars. A tempranillo is a spanish wine that is full bodied and robust. It usually starts strong and finishes nicely. Usually a tempranillo makes me feel like a Spanish senorita sitting in a cabana on a warm summer day.... This wine did not fail to disappoint. DELISH! $7 bucks!!!!1!!!1one!!! I will definitely be going back to try other things. My girlie had a syrah which was also yummmmmyyyy! I had some bruschetta which had figs, bleu cheese and pecans.... I must say, my mouth was in heaven the hour and a half we were there!

I'm dreaming of their steak tartar as I write this. This place is great if you're looking to share a nice bottle of wine with some delicious food and enjoy the company of your friends. My favorite times here are warm summer evenings on the patio enjoying small bites of food with a glass of wine. Anything on the menu is amazing, I don't think I've had anything I didn't like. Also if you're not much of a wine person they also carry a nice selection of beer. My only complaint, the service here isn't the best in the world. The servers do expect you to be a good guest (as all people should!) and don't want to hear or answer any stupid questions regarding the wine. Which I guess is a little understandable, I can only imagine the questions they get there!

This is a good place to go with friends if you want to spend a night out relaxing and talking. The atmosphere is always calm with an appropriate noise level. The place is small so you may when to get their early to grab a table before they get busy for the night.

I am so torn about this place, so I am going to let my alter-ego C.A. Bernet take over and write a review for me. *cue French accent* Let me first say that I am not a fan of your wines that lack complexities and such. Any thing with so little imagination as to only have one grape must be offensive in some way. Your Cabernet Sauvignons from the so called Napa Valley are brash and ostentatious just like all of you silly Americans. However it is with great pleasure and a certain Je ne sais quoi that I write about 58 Degrees and Holding. You see as some have mentioned before Sunday is the perfect day to go there because there is no corkage fee. Their wine selection while small is well chosen and their Beaujolais that I have tried were actually quite good. Their food menu is well thought out and simple but pairs well with the suggestions and they make and at least last time I went on a Tuesday they had a very nice pre-fixe wine and app pairing. I feel that Americans should have to pay more for their wine because they stole it from the French and ruined it; 58 Degrees does a great job of charging a little extra for their wine that I have often been able to get slightly cheaper elsewhere. If only to not help stimulate the American economy. Overall the service has been much better than typical European standards so that will be a huge plus to all of you Americans with entitlement issues. A simply excellent little place in Midtown that offers a decent selection and some good food. It makes me rather ill to think that Americans appreciate only a price and a product. *slaps you across face with white glove* Sorry about that. He is such a snob.

We checked out 59 degrees b/c of the 2012 Vegan Chef Challenge and it was wonderful! The flatbread was tasty, the salad was awesome, and the sans-panna cotta was sublime! I'm so glad they participated again this year, I hope they keep vegan items on their menu all year round!

Great place for vino lovers and newbies alike! They carry the best wine list I've seen in Sacramento and I love that they take serious consideration for their accompanying food also. Went in on a Wednesday with a few girlfriends for the tasting for $10. There was a complimentary appetizer set up but the food menu is quite affordable also. It's just the perfect place to unwind and catch up over a few glasses of great wine and good food. Most of the plates are great to share. The four of us ordered the wine tasting ($10/4 wines) and a charcuterie plate to share. And the bill came out to be $15 each. Definitely will become a fav. spot!

this place is amazing... i don't have much experience with wine bars at my old age of 23, but this one seems pretty legit. I've lost count of the times I've come here to have a super delicious 3 course meal with wine pairings. You'll see changes on the menu, but staples like any their bruchetta or the steak sandwich keep me coming back. For dessert my absolute favorite is the honey lavender gelado paired with their moscato. No lie - it tastes like springtime! I've also fallen in love with their Riesling, and the waiters are really helpful if you are unsure about which wine to pick. They have great customer service, and to top it all off, bottles of wine are $15 cheaper on Sundays because there is no corkage fee! A nice opportunity to switch up my usual bottomless mimosas sundays ;)

Wine tasting with food, what a brilliant idea, food is shockingly exceptional! Discount at wine store if you buy wines after your tasting. they also have a fairly large area for wine storage in case you don't have the room, or the proper climate.

I visit 58 Degrees abouot once a week on average. It's perfect for a double-date or just a dine and dash. And I've done both. The wine is great and the food is better -- and it's relatively affordable. Some suggestions: Get the Bruschetta! You have options on what kind too! They are all amazing. The blue cheese and honey, goat cheese and salami and mozzarella and sun-dried tomato (names not exact) are my favorites. Scrumptious. The Bruschetta makes a great starter with wine. Then for dinner I'll usually get the Grilled Hanagar Steak Sandwich -- a fantastic concoction of perfectly cooked steak on ciabatta bread with brie, so simple and so perfect. If I want something a little lighter, I'll go with the Organic Baby Greens Salad with either steak or chicken. Seriously, both options are amazing and they taste great every single time. There are other options on the menu, all of which I've heard fantastic things about but just cannot say no to the cheeses that excite my palate from the options I've discussed above. It is small, and I'll admit, there have been multiple times I have walked in with every intention to eat or drink there and walked out because it was so packed, but that certainly doesn't stop me from coming back, in fact, it makes me think about it more and then I go when it's not so busy! Crazy, huh! So weeknights are usually safe, Wednesday they have a wine night and Thursday is a bit busy, but if you go before 7 you're safe to find a table. Same on weekends. Go between 7 and 8 and you should be okay to just sit right now at a table and eat your heart out :)

I am so glad that my friends and I decided to give it a try! Fairly new to wine and to Sacramento, I was nervous. However, this place was fantastic! I am very anxious to go back for both happy hour and wine tasting. We stopped in on a Saturday night; around 7:30, we were able to sit down right away. The service was great. We ordered a bottle of sparkling and they brought it to us with a bucket to keep at the table and were around often to refill our glasses. The food was great, just as I had expected. We passed on appetizers and went straight for the entrees. The crab cakes we tasty as was the gnocchi. This is a must try, very relaxed, great for couples and groups alike.

This place was awesome. Great food that you'd expect to be $$$ at the price of $. The staff was friendly and ambiance was nice and cozy. Wine selection is on point, and the Sunday 'no corking fee' was a deal you can't forget. If I lived closer, I would imagine I'd spend a lot more time at 58 Degrees & Holding. For those who do, and haven't tried it yet - do yourself a favor and go grab a glass of wine and a delicious bite of food.

This is probably my favorite wine bar in downtown Sac, by far. When I'm feeling like I want to treat myself to a nice night out, I always come here first. The best time to go here is for Happy Hour or for the 2nd Saturday event each month. There is a pared down list of appetizers that are half off, but they're all super tasty! My favorite has got to be the bruschetta (you get to choose from several varieties - my personal favorite is the apple-bacon-spiced wild honey selection, I could eat a whole platter of those!). It's a great deal for only $4.50 a plate. Also, their white or red wine for $5 is usually pretty tasty, though they have quite a few delectable wines on their list (try the Riesling for $11 / glass by JJ Christofferson or something close to that). I'm not a huge fan of the rest of their dinner menu, but for Happy Hour, this is a great choice. Aside from the tasty treats, it's in a great location, right in the heart of midtown. I usually start my evening off here and then grab dinner at one of the several tasty restaurants within walking distance. Definitely worth a trip if you're in the downtown area.

Always busy and boisterous and for good reason. Bistro atmosphere - probably not the best place for a big, comfortable sit-down dinner, though they do have a regular prix fixe menu (served on Mondays and Tuesdays) which changes (I think) monthly. You'd expect a good selection of wines and you wouldn't be disappointed, but the food is also very good - consisting mostly of small plates. The regular menu also changes often. I miss the Brussels sprout salad, which was excellent. I understand they are now serving brunch, which I'll definitely try some time soon. Casual but classy and interesting interior space. There is also some outdoor seating along 18th Street - watch for inconsiderate smokers here if you're sensitive to that sort of thing, which I am. Parking is terrible, but where in mid-town is parking not terrible? I guess one of the wait staff was having a bad night once - I ordered a glass of wine, a fair amount of which he spilled on the counter, then he copped some attitude when I asked him for some napkins to mop the mess up. I was not pleased, and this is the kind of stuff people don't forget, especially when they're paying 12 bucks for a 6 oz pour. Honestly, I haven't been back as often since this incident, but in fairness it was just one experience - all others have been great. Overall, I like this place and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I had walked by this place after work a few times and it's always busy. But when I actually came here for lunch, it was pretty quiet. Reasonable price wine list is extensive and something for everyone. From 3.25 ++. Lunch was excellent, price is also reasonable. I had the ahi tuna, which was perfect for a light lunch. Companion had the egg and truffle sandwich which looked delicious. Sitting. Bar and round counter height tables and sofa setting. Outdoor sitting, great for people watching. This area gets pretty busy after work. They have a wine store next door. They also have happy hour and special meal menu for $20. A very good experience, can't wait to go back for dinner!

If you don't know about 58 or haven't been here you need to fix that quick. We've been coming here for about 5 years now and are always happy. Affordable wine and a really cool beer selection. Not to mention the food has been absolutely fantastic since FJ took over. These prices are ridiculous too. $12 to $15 entrees? You can't find that at any other spot in midtown. I swear I don't work here, but we are industry people and know what we're talking about. You can spend 100 bucks here and just go hog wild or spend 40 and still be really happy. Keep up the good work guys!

The staff knew their wines, had great suggestions and were attentive without being obtrusive. The wine selection was superb and there was something for everyone. But my favorite, absolute FAVORITE, part was the sampler plate of bruschetta--WOW. Innovative and delicious! I will be returning frequently :)

This is what a wine bar is supposed to be. There are so many choices in Downtown Sacramento, but I saw this place and it looked so cozy. It is side by side to a wine store that gives tastings. We walked in and couldn't have been greeted any sooner or kinder. Then when I saw the menu I knew we had to stay. The place is posh and modern with sofas and tables and a bar with a cozy aspect that makes you think your sitting in someones living room. And besides being HOT, the waiters and waitresses really know there stuff and serve with entertainment and aplomb. The dish: Slow braised short rib with cauliflower puree, red wine reduction and the best part, tempura green beans--holy, it melted in my mouth and came with mashed potatoes 4 mushroom lasagna--which is really a compote of shittake, oyster and lobster mushroom on won ton crisps with miso cream sauce, to die for! You have to see it. Fig and bleu cheese bruschetta--these guys did nothing wrong, I swear. we topped off the evening with a pumkin creme brulee. delish. What we had with it was the best part though. An Oregon Pinot (buy a whole bottle!), Mauro Medino Barbera D'alba 06 that I wanted to take home with me and make my lover. An O6 Vina Sastre Tempranillo, spicy and bold, and we topped it off with an Old Soul Red from Mendocino 04. Thank you wine Gods, Dionysis if your listening, I'd sacrifice a sheep.

Great location, helpful and knowledgeable wait staff, excellent selection of wines, chill customers, and less pretentious than L wine bar. My biggest gripe is that the food usually sounds better than the execution. I always find myself wanting to eat when I'm drinking and really, this place isn't good enough for the price they charge. Usually we end up eating somewhere else. Although out of their control, I wish they had a bigger patio.

I liked how the server was knowledgeable on their wine and beer list. I am more of a wine drinker, and my boyfriend a beer drinker, so this place was a match made in heaven for us. His lobster roll sandwich though, was very tough. The meat and the bread was very hard, so I think we won't order that dish again. I really loved my tuna tartare, it was perfect in every way. The portions were small - so don't expect huge dishes. It can be a bit pricey.

Classy joint. Great place for a more sophisticated evening for a date or a night out with the girls to catch up. I was here on a Saturday around 8:00 and it was about 3/4 filled with people. Tried some champagnes and the bruchetta which was good, but not the best I have had. The lighting is very dim, a little too dim. Overall, however, this was a nice place to relax and enjoy the company you are in rather than a a club or certain bars where you cannot here the person right next to you. Great selection and worth checking out.

This is on the short list of things I love and will miss about Sacramento when I leave. I don't think this place is snooty at all, I think it's really laid back and low key. This is one of 3 wine bars within a few blocks of my house, and by far the best one. Lounge on 20 has interesting decor and a fantastic champagne selection (although more should be offered by glass) but it can get a bit on the feral side (think tattooed girls in mini skirts and gross football guy). L Wine Lounge is okay, but the wine selection is not as good as 58. I love that 58 does tastes because you can get a descent amount for just $3-5. I have tried all the sparklings, and many of the other wines. So many favorites I can't list them, but you can go in and taste yourself. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about all the wines. I agree the food there is not cheap, I wish they had some more budget options, but it is very good. The mac and 4 cheese is really fantastic, I also really like the bruchetta trio. I haven't had anything there that I didn't like. I love the atmosphere, they have a bar, small tables, high tables, couches, and comfy chairs.. something for everyone and any size group (well not too big). The decor is all wood and brown colors, really relaxing. Plus the wine store is great, and they also know anything about any wine they carry. We just bought a bottle of the Old Barn Syrah and I loved it. I love it here, and I am trying to get my friends to have a regular Wednesday night for the tastings, but we will see...(stupid grad school). Last week was all Argentinian wines, this week, Wines to make you happy during hard times. SO FUN! 58 & Holding you get 5 stars (and a hug if I could)

I loved this place. It's like Napa without the trip and the price. The prices are very affordable and the food is great. I love the vino and I loved their selection. The wine store is connects to the restaurant, although the restaurant is little, it's nice that you can buy some good wine right there.

  • Nico S.

I find this place to be pretentious. First, their actual store has an OK selection but with marked up prices. Now, if you want to drink in their bar, they slam another $15 corkage fee on top of the bloated price for having a bottle that you're purchasing from them!!! Corkage fees are meant for restaurants to recover lost revenue on a bottle they didn't sell (when a client brings their own wine from home). I find this ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. If you go to 58 degrees, you are going for the midtown location/vibe and because you like the ambiance... certainly not for the quality/price ratio among their selection of wines.

  • Mary K.

One of my favorite places to have lunch because it is not crowded, I can have a glass of wine, and the food is good. Most people go for dinner or the Friday/Sat night scene, but I like it for lunch. You have to pay a little more for the quality and the wine, but it is well worth it. Worst thing at lunch is parking can be difficult.

I've been here many times, and I'm always pleased with the menu offerings and the knowledgeable and genuinely unpretentious wait staff. I've never been disappointed with any of the wines suggested by the servers. They seem to have a knack of translating even the most vague descriptions into a wonderfully apt glass of wine. I love the selection of small plates. I recently tried the ahi tuna tartare with daikon sprouts and avocado...sooo tasty. My boyfriend and I savored every bite. The cheese plate along with the sticky-sweet fig goo that accompanies it is a standard. I decided to go for a ubiquitous chocolate lava cake one night, and despite the fact that it arrived 10 minutes later (unfeasible for true lava cake) it was gooey chocolate yumminess- that of which I cannot possibly be critical of :) What is annoying is the often overly posh clientle ooozing all over the small confines of an otherwise charming space. But that can of course be avoided if you visit on a weeknight.

Stop looking in my window! I live directly across the street from 58*. But it's ok, because it's cool and I like the vibe it brings to the hood. Ya, I'm not going to call it the handle district, because it's a rip off from SF. I prefer "middle village". I've been over there several times, usually someone I know sees me and gives me a call. "Hay, Jason, I see you in the window, put on some pants & come over. The prices are pretty reasonable, but not as reasonable as my wine fridge across the street, so I always end up back at the house opening another bottle. If you see a long haired bearded guy in the window across the street, wave me over, especially if you have an open tab.

Love this place. Small, intimate and no attitude. If you are looking for a chill, cool place without a scene to drink a glass of wine and chat than this is the perfect place. It is low-key but has a WONDERFUL cheese plate and great selection of wine with "tasting" sizes available for purchase.. I have met girlfriends here to catch up and also had a date here.. and it was great. If you want a place that feels sophisticated, no drama and no scene...this is your place.

When it comes to wine bars, this is one of my favorites. Besides the fact their wine list is excellent, I believe my rating also comes from the fact that their cheese plate is above par because they serve the cheeses with accompaniments like quince paste and grapes, among lots of other little goodies. When I go there the waiter is knowledgable about the cheeses and gives us a proper run down of what we're getting. The chocolate plate is also undoubtedly to die for. My god, wine and chocolate, what more could be better? The chocolate plate is also served with raspberries and other little fruits...coupled with some killer cabernet, you'll leave there always wanting to come back. Our food experience has been wonderful as well. I love the green salad, after all anything with goat cheese or gorgonzolla is delicious. This wine bar is a perfect place to go by yourself or with 3-5 friends, anytime from afternoon to late night. I'd also like to say that compared to the L Bar a block or two away, I prefer 58 degrees because of the atmosphere. It's more casual, less snotty. I can't wait to get back up to Sac to head back here!

So I went last night for a happy couple of hours as a part of my quest to track down Hoegaarden on draft. The beer is pricey here, $5 per pint, but I had been thinking about it all week so I justified it in my head. The ladies at the table were all very pleased with their wine selections and we had a great time. The waiter we started with was very helpful and didn't care when we got up and moved inside because it got chilly into a different servers section. The size of the bill at the end of the night make this location an unlikely go to spot after work on Fridays, but our table mates happiness with everything they had indicates we will be back at some point.

Stopped by on Friday for dinner. Sat at the bar. Decided to have the prix fixe menu for Wine and Dine weekend of July 4th with the wine pairings. Everything we had was very tasty and the wine good. All the servers were very polite, knowledgeable, and friendly. Started with the chartecutrie sampler of salmon, salami, prosciutto, and pork pate etc. served with crostinis. Really enjoyed the ravioli dish with the balsamic dressing and cherries. The main course of prosciutto wrapped chicken was definitely good. The sauce on that dish was very tasty. Good experience, nice atmosphere, and the food and wine were good.

I recently moved to Sacramento from the City and 58 Degrees takes me back to my favorite wine bars in SF. The small bites are delicious and the wine selection is top notch. We love to go to 58 degrees for happy hour. I'm sad that they took the Gnocchi off of the menu but the mushroom/truffle bruschetta and flat bread are decadent. This is a great place to relax after work and enjoy a great glass of wine.

The parking here is tough anytime of the day and night. This place seems to fill up at the busy times, but I always seem to find a place to sit. The lighting here is just perfect, not to bright and there is no light shining on your face and you look over to your friend and there face isn't hidden by the uneven lighting. So ambiance is good. I notice there happy hour is a good mix of people. This place usually has a balance of men and women. It's not over loaded with a bunch of beer drinking horny men. People watching is easy on the eyes here. Women seem to have a good sense of style, while the men here are usually in business casual wear. It has a contemporary feel without the stuffiness of fancy wine bar snobs. The ahi tar tar is always excellent, no fishy smell or taste. The greens that garnish the plate go well with the ahi and crunchy crustinis. I devour this plate, the ripe avocados is always gives it a rich taste! It's definitely the best appetizer here. The short ribs are great. They just added the chicken, it's seems like it can be my new favorite entree there. As for the salads, I seem to skip it there because of the dressing lacks consistency. A little too much dressing for my salad. The cheese plate is always good with your favorite wine. I am not sure if this place serves dessert, for all the times I have been there no one has asked me if I wanted dessert. I mean some pastries, not big on the dessert wines and espressos for dessert. I seem to be at this place once or twice a week now the weather is getting warmer. Oh yeah, there restrooms are always clean.

This place was absolutely WONDERFUL! My boyfriend and I came here for our Valentine's dinner and had the most romantic time and wonderful meal. He ordered a beet salad which he enjoyed (minus a single vegetable that was foreign to him and he didn't like?), and I had the duck confit which was absolutely SUPERB. It ranks up there with the other delicious duck meals I've had in the past and for only 14$ this was an absolute steal. The portions are not HUGE which is nice because we ordered bruchetta which was also unique and delicious (they have like 6 different kinds) and creme brulee as well. I loved my meal. We sat at the wine bar for the meal and the bartender who was our server was nice and fun. I greatly enjoyed my meal and will be back to try the pork and a few other items on the menu! Its a smaller menu but the price makes everything so worth it.

This is my favorite place to go for happy hour or in general for that matter! The mac and cheese here is by far the best I have ever had and I have had a lot! The cheese plate is also to die for as well as the pomme frites with blue cheese gravy! The wine is also very good and I love trying their happy hour wine flights. My only complaint is that they don't do wine flights any other time than happy hour, but other than that come here and try the mac and cheese and you will be a believer!

This place is wonderful! Perfect place to unwind after a log day at work. Very classy spot with a delicious and HUGE wine list. Also had several of their appetizers and they we're delish as well. I would of given them 5 stars, but I had to stare at an exceptionally unattractive couple sucking face behind my date the whole evening. Waiters and waitresses should be able to kick eyesores like that out. Besides my unfortunate view...do go...it is wonderful wine bar with wonderful ambiance.

Wednesday night I talked my husband into a rare foray into the grid. We met a friend here, one who comes here about once a week. As a member of the slightly-older demographic, I didn't feel completely out of place, but here certainly were plenty of younger downtown types: just normal, well-groomed, unpretentious people. Thankfully no baseball caps or saggy-butt shorts, no fake tans or fake boobs, no loudness or drama. I enjoyed the layout and design: warm and unstuffy, with brick, exposed beams, smooth dark wood walls. Taking advantage of an old-timey building instead of trying to make it look urbane or plastic or trendy is a relief to the customer. Yes, it would be great if the bar/restaurant could accommodate more seats. Sidewalk seating gives this block of 18th street almost a complete stretch of outdoor dining - it is kind of Sacto-European. Service was a little slow, and the servers could have been warmer and more personable, but they got our orders right and were certainly not offensive. Bruschetta: delicious! Really bright flavors in the tapenade/goat cheese combo, and rich smooth white bean puree. My friend's mac-n-cheese - outstanding, smooth, creamy, nutty, really well made, good thing the portion is, as advertised, a small bite and not a bucket. The mixed olives were outstanding: it's fun to taste the many expressions of olives, from soft to crunchy, fruity to salty. Dressed in oil and minutely shredded orange peel, absolutely a great little dish, not at all an afterthought. I like the wine selection as being a bit different than other places, seeming to strive for a range of versions of familiar grapes; not just California cab, for instance, but examples from other states and other countries for a fun comparison. From the wines we tasted it seems they are going for food-friendly wines. Old Vine Zin is really smoky and fruity, not at all hot or overly spicy. The Macon Pierreclos was a nice example of how chardonnay can be so much more interesting than oak and butter and all the other heavy flavors for which the great wine pooh-bahs award high points. It's not cheap, it gets crowded, I assume there is some hitting-upon, but overall, I'll gladly suggest this place for a variety of activities, and I'm sure I'll return.

I've been here a few times for drinks with friends after dinner. The ambiance is relaxed and comfy, and there's an extensive wine menu. It's perfect for a girls night out...the combination of catching up with friends, a couple bottles of wine, and the artisanal cheese plate makes me a happy gal! I recently came here for lunch and tried the truffled egg and cheese sandwich. Yumm! I thought the combo with the turkey and bacon sounded a bit odd, but it did not disappoint! The side salad that accompanied it was perfectly tossed. I will definitely be back to sample more of the menu items.

58 Degrees is a fun place to go for some wine and a meal. I was here for dinner a little less than a month ago and sat at the bar. The bartender could have been more helpful in suggesting a wine, but I honestly don't think he really knew what to suggest. What he did suggest was good though, to my uneducated palate. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was quite good...Had a cheese plate, which, was presented nicely. Of course, they didn't make the cheese, so we can't credit them for how good it was, but it was a good selection. The mussels were good and tender. All too often, especially with shellfish, it is overcooked. The following message does not apply to 58 Degrees. And now a word from our sponsor, the anti-sucky seafood association (ASS Ass.): Restaurant owners and chefs take note: If you can't cook seafood properly, do not offer it on your menu. If your seafood smells fishy, it is not fresh. I will send it back. If it is chewy, it is overcooked. I will send it back. I've previously had the hangar steak here, and it was done to perfection. An excellent dish. The chocolate lava cake is also quite delicious, with warm melting, dark chocolate oozing from the cake when you cut into it. In addition to the extensive wine list, 58 Degrees also offers a small selection of Belgian beers.

I've been here three times now and each visit was fantastic. The service is always impeccable; the servers always friendly and efficient. Every dish I've ordered has been unique, inventive and gorgeously presented. The wine selection is great and the staff has directed me to quite a few bottles with candor and enthusiasm. I will continue to return whenever I get the chance.

Lost a star......portions have definitely shrunk. On a cheese plate that costs nearly $20, I want more than 5 pieces of bread and a 3 slivers of cheese. The food was average and the service was as well. Again, another local restaurant having either a bad night or losing its edge.

One of the best happy hour locations in town for wine/beer and appetizers. The Mac n Cheese and bruschetta is amazing! The petite burgers and cheese plate is also a great option. Seating can be difficult if you arrive during the 5-7pm business rush. I would advise against coming with a group of more than 4 people, especially during this time slot. Otherwise, it's a great place with equally good atmostphere and service.

I'd always thought of 58 Degrees as a place to go for wines and didn't realize that they offered great food. My group enjoyed the Trio Bruschetta and Macaroni appetizers. The Short Rib/Lamb Duo and Gnocchi were excellent. Our server Amber was very knowledgeable and helped with wine selection. We opted for tastes instead of glasses. Our favorites were the Travieso Cab, Tinto Negro Malbec, and Tribut Chablis.

pros: great Mac n Cheese , Lava cake, bruchetta and wine list! Cons: parking and limited seating. It would be nice if they could add a few more tables. You run a risk of not having anywhere to sit if you go late. We always have wonderful service and great food. Always feel right at home.

Smaller inside than I expected yet also more comfortable. I know this place is a wine bar but I love that they carry "Estrella Damn" beer. The crostini and tartar was delicious. Our server was relaxed and warm. I highly recommend this establishment.

Let me start out by saying I have only been here late at night, on weeknights, sat outside and didn't order any food. I like it! Good wine, nice interior (we had to go inside to order the wine), nice people working. They have a huge selection. So much so that the first time I went I was a bit overwhelmed trying to pick just one wine. Now I just make the person I am with choose. And the people that work there are friendly, but not pushy or wine snobby. Mainly, I love the rubber stuff on the underside of the bar. It is way fun to play with.

Sunday is the new Saturday. I've happily been visiting 58 Degrees since they first opened about a year ago. What is it that makes it such a lovely place? Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere! Not to mention, any place with an excellent wine selection, cushy couches, and kick ass beef tartar has my vote. Even the bathroom smells good. Just add a couple of your favorite sidekicks to the mix and you're all set. What more can I say? It wasn't until last Sunday that I discovered why Sunday is the new Saturday [thanks Jenna]. After feasting on Dragonfly's sushi happy hour [half priced rolls and $2 sake bombs] we decided to get a night cap at 58 Degrees. To our pleasant surprise we discovered that they don't charge a corkage fee on Sundays. You can pick any bottle from the Holding Company next door minus the $14 corkage fee. I did notice an unusual amount of overly intoxicated individuals; guess they've caught on too.

Just awesome. Haven't ever had a bad meal or glass of wine here. Limited menu, but you will love this place if you come. Had the steak sandwich medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. Staff is great. Can't rate this place high enough.

An awesome place for a glass of wine and appetizer. I loved their brushetta. Also the atmosphere was just the right amount of class without the attitude. Will definately go more regularly especially for those after work drinks.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is wonderful, just dim enough and oozes a feeling of relaxation. The wine is surprisingly affordable. The food I've had ranged from mediocre to good. The bruschetta is quite good. It does get quite busy in here, there are usually a lot of suits here after work. The service is always kind and helpful. I've never had a recommendation that I didn't like.

What a great find! We walked into this place about 30 minutes before closing and the waitress was very gracious and told us we didn't have to worry about rushing. Sometimes waitresses say that, but you don't believe them, but she really made our night there relaxed. The place is cozy, and great for a date. We had an awesome Pinot Noir (Willakenzie Triple Black Slopes 2008) and a bunch of small plates. All of it was delicious! The baby greens salad had hazelnuts, which made it even better. The Mac and Cheese was very rich. I can't wait to go back and try more wines.

My co-worker's and I went here on a WED night for their $10 wine tasting nd it was MAGNIFICENT! This week's theme was wines from Argentina and the Malbec's were loely.......the only suggestion would be - to fill my glass up more!

Went here last night with my wife for dinner, and was very impressed. Not only did they have a great selection of wines (expected) but they also had a decent selection of microbrew beers from around the world. We both got the burger which had blue cheese, fig compote and sherried onions---it was very good. Dinner for two plus a beer for me and a glass for her came to $41 pre-tip. We sat on the sidewalk patio, people watched and had a great time, I'd go back.

Solid spot for DT Sac nightlife. Whereas many Sacto spots are infilitrated with attitude and hassles this place is just my style. Great wines, modern decor, attentive staff and always good for people watching. Seating may be tough on big nights like Thurs, Fri and Sat so arrive early. Hot spot are the couches near the back or of course on the patio!

Came here late one evening for food and wine. We were lucky enough to find a table and opted for their 3-courses-for-twenty-dollars deal--with an appetizer, entree, and dessert it was quite filling and everything was fresh and delicious. It has a very nice, cozy atmosphere which makes it good for dates or smaller groups. Will definitely be making a return trip here in the near future!

It was my first time going to a wine bar and I really like 58 Degrees. I really like the environment and the servers are really friendly. There are a lot of selections of wines and the food is good. My girlfriends and I order the cheese plate and it tastes really good. I love the cheese. Also, it is a really nice hang out place . I will recommend my friends to go to 58 degrees.

Good wine, a good gluten-free experience to have with friends. I've heard that some options on their menu can be made gluten-free, but I haven't tried them myself. Sunday nights there is no corkage fee, so you can pick a wine from the store and save $$$. This is a great place to visit in downtown Sacramento.

I went here with a couple of friends and I really liked the atmosphere. My favorite wine would have to be the Moscato. It was very sweet and light. The service was very good. The only thing was it was more expensive to have the bottle opened and stay then it was to just buy and bring it home.

  • Eric P.

This place is alright. Great atmosphere and you can tell they put a lot of effort into the facilities. But I wasn't really impressed by menu or the wines "on tap." They have a great front room with all kinds of bottles to choose from - but as far as wine tasting, the selection is kind of limited. I was surprised they didn't have any flights or anything along those lines. I have been to many wineries and wine bars, and their tastes are slightly overpriced. The price for a 3oz "taste" from many of their wines could get you a full glass somewhere else. Going on Sundays where they have $15 off bottles is your best bet.

I've been here twice now, and both times have enjoyed their different wines and beers. Not sure which beer I had, but oh my it was good. Sat in the couches, drank and talked, good times here.

Had dinner here on a Sunday- the staff was really helpful with selecting wines, and our server was great. Even better: no corkage fees on Sunday! For appetizers, we had three kinds of bruschetta (the fig compote and bleu cheese), and the brussel sprout salad. For the main course, we had the mini burgers, steak sandwich, flank steak, and the black cod. All were perfectly cooked and delicious. For dessert, the lava cake, chocolate plate, and salty caramel tart. Again, perfectly done and delightful- the honey is spicy and the desserts were amazing. For the wine, we tried a Beckman 2006 and a Beaujolais Nouveau, both very nice- especially the Beckman Cuvée Le Bec, a nice recommendation and so well priced. I will absolutely be back!

Stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend from work. I had the turkey panini and was very pleased.. I didn't even know that they served lunch until I had walked by the previous week and saw the menu posted on the window. Previously, I thought that it was just for wine tastings. A very nice surprise.

Coming from an area that sadly lacks in wine bars, I was quite pleased with this joint. A girlfriend and I had attempted to hit nearby Zocalo on Father's Day without a reservation, and after having been scared off by a band of overly enthusiastic mariachis, we found the peaceful quiet of 58 Degrees & Holding a welcome relief. For ladies who lunch, this was perfect. We were able to split an appetizer (bruschetta) and have our own small plates as well (really fantastic mussels in a beer broth!). I really like the sample size wine options as well, as it lets us lightweights have a taste without worrying about our sobriety. A small glass of rose on a summer day is a decidedly good thing. While a wine bar isn't an intuitive place to go for Sunday brunch/lunch, 58 Degrees is well worth a visit, regardless of convention.

This place is very classy. I went for lunch with my boyfriend. It felt very romantic and fancy. The food was sooo fresh and perfectly flavored and cooked. They have an exotic selection of beers and wines and the services is impeccable. I would definitely revisit for a special occasion dinner or more casual lunch.

It's great that 58 is alive and well in midtown! This place is a refreshing alternative to my regular rotation of local restaurants and dive bars. I have experienced good service more often then not and I really enjoy the classy atmosphere. I might go for a glass of wine or to go down the list with 3oz tastings. I have worked in a wine bar and I think their wine list is perfect- a good mix of buzzworthy local and international wine and it is NOT pretentious, and neither is the service. Recently I ordered from the beer list and food menu...it was awesome. If you are into good beer, try the Allagash Curieux ($22) -it's the last one on the beer menu- as our server put it, it's liquid gold!

Came here on a Wednesday during their wine sampling night. You get to sample five wines for $10. While I am totally not a wine drinker (can't do warm beverages), I definitely enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere was great. The seating is comfortable and arranged in a way to stimulate conversation. The people that worked there were super nice and made sure on numerous occasions that everyone was taken care of. I would love to come back to sample the food.

My afternoon visit while in town for business was a treat, Ben Kowlasky waited on me at the bar and was very knowledgeable and attentive. The Burgandy Dom Camus-Bruchon Savgny - Les Bean was very good and loved the Penner Ash 07. If you're a Pinot fan stop in you won't be disappointed.

I love wine bars too but not this one. My wine was good, expensive but good. I have to admit I was disappointed by the selection. Nothing outrageous, nothing I suspect that I couldn't find at Corti Brothers or Taylors. And if I remember correctly, nothing from California, except from Napa. As far as the atmosphere, the place was done up in the sleek-new-modern-resturant style we are all sick of. And the crowd was annoying. I was obviously underdressed, well actually overdressed, because I had too many clothes on and wasn't hoochy enough. I don't think I will go back.

This place was great! It's really cute inside and their wine selection is really interesting. It had quiet, comfortable, intimate seating, so it's a really good place to sit and catch up with friends. The staff was really friendly and the menu was yummy. I will definitely be back there soon. I might even become a member so I can take advantage of their tasting room. :)

I'm more of a foodie than a wine guy. Today: I tried brunch at 58 Degrees & Holding Co. I started with the Seared Salt and Pepper Ahi with Tempura Mushrooms, Spicy Black Bean Sauce, and Cucumber Lemon Granita. This dish has evolved since I first tried it, a year ago. There's variety in the textures; and the flavors are sweet and savory with plenty of "kick". I followed up with the Warm Aparagus Salad with Warm Asparagus Dressing, Crispy Prociutto, and a Red Wine- Poached Egg (an absolutely lovely combination). Chef Casey is doing remarkable things, in a kitchen that's as small as a tool shed.

Love this place! I mainly go to this wine bar to relax and enjoy my wine. They have indoor seating as well as outdoor. I normally choose the outdoor area because it helps me relax more and enjoy my wine. This place is also good for lunch. Although I haven't actually had lunch there, the menu looks good. They also have a wine store inside which is perfect if you want to buy a bottle of what you just had. You can also sit at the bar if you like. The service is good and the staff is great. Can't wait to go this weekend.

Too pricey for not even eating at a table. And my sandwich tore up my mouth- literally. The bread was soo darn toasted it scratched and tore up the rood of my mouth...not fun. The sandwich would have been tasty if it wasnt for that. And i mentioned it to the waitress hoping they could just bring a new one out with a less toasted (normal toasted cuz this was dry and like melba toast) bread but she responded by saying "oh thats just the style of that sandwich".....uuuuh what? and since I was with new friends I didnt make a fuss, but was not happy about going home with a torn up mouth. I'd go back---only for happy hour though.

I love this place and it is one of my favorite late night spots when I just want to get some wine with my fiance. The food is good, but a little too gourmet for my taste, I am a picky eater. The wine selection is great. It is a little pricey, but great for a special night on the town or happy hour!

One of a few stops I made in Midtown during a weekend trip to Sacramento. Great place for wine. Wonderful ambiance and decor, the bartenders were pretty cool and the wines quite satisfying. They serve in 3 & 6 oz portions (1/2 and full glasses). They give the wine in a mini carafe that you can pour out at your liking. I ordered a 6 oz but a 3 oz would've done me quite fine. And well priced as well. $11 for my 6 oz. More than worth it as I remember even now swirling it across my palate and enjoying the multitude of flavors. Nice place to go to enjoy wine and have a sophisticated night out.

Recently visited on the day after V-day, and it was great. Partly because it was sort of quiet out and we had our choice of seats. Wine selection was great, lots of variety and prices. Love the champagne/sparking wine choices, very yummy. Cheese plate was ok, but I am very picky when it comes to cheese. The best dish of the night was the hangar steak, I thought it was perfectly prepared. I think it is wonderful that Sacramento finally has wine bars to choose from!

My favorite spot in midtown! Amazing wine and food, knowledgeable and friendly staff, beautiful ambiance. I try to stop by at least once a week, especially for happy hour. I should have written this review hours after I ate a meal here because I just know I'm not going to do it justice. I don't think I could do it justice anyway because I'm just not accustomed to good food and drink like that so I just don't even have the words to describe it. Four friends and I hit up 58 Degrees during the Wine and Dine week. The restuarant is very small with only about 5 or 6 small pub style tables or more loungey type seating. I was really worried because honestly I didn't know where they were going to put 5 plates of food and wine on that tiny ass table. Anyway, we got saved by a cancelled reservation and our server asked us if we wanted to move to the group room. OH HELL YES WE DO! We were reseated in a cozy cave like room that made us feel like VIPS. We were served three courses with three different wines. At this point, I can't even remember what the food was. But it was all DELICIOUS! The wine pairings seemed fine but I'm just not a big wine person so I can't even pretend to know what the hell to say about the wine. I'll leave it at this... good food, great service and a great time with friends.

Really cool place! I was there for x-mas shopping last year. Stay for a glass of wine and some cheese. A bit on the expensive side. I guess it a good place to bring your old lady. If she like wine and cheese :) The service there is AWESOME!

This is a very nice wine bar with all the trimmings. We have been four times, once on Sunday when you can purchase a bottle from the shop and avoid corkage (which is a flat 15 dollars for each bottle, so trying more expensive wines is advisable). The food service is very slow but the food itself is good. The green salads are a wonderful value--huge, with apples, nuts and blue cheese (6 dollars). My husband the wine nut is always pleased with the wine selection.

I've been to 58 Degrees & Holding several times but I have to say this visit disappointed me. I went with friends for happy hour and the food was not that good and they made a few errors on our check. I do like the vibe and the service so I will be back. I'm hoping that they were just having an off day.

CHEERS! to a wine bar in mid-town Sacramento... and double cheers to the fact that its within a few blocks of my house! But beyond these cheers, I don't have many for this new establishment. I must say that I think that their wine selection is pretty good... they have some very different wines that you cannot find elsewhere, and the prices are very fair. The fact that they also serve beer is also great, so you can go there with your non-wino friends. The store is the best part of the establishment, but is unfortunately only open until 9pm, and then only accepts debit cards. I like their little menu... and the food is good... but I feel bad for the chef who has a closet-sized space to prepare it. The store is HUGE and the bar is small... I wonder why they decided to portion the space like they did? I would have made the bar area much bigger. The service is a bit poor. For only having wine, beer and a tiny menu, you'd think the servers would be more attentive. My preference is to go early to the store, select a few bottles of wine, and head home to my couch. p.s. upped the 3 stars to 4. this place impresses me more and more upon each patronization

Two of us went for breakast this morning, first-time visitors. A hairstylist had recommended it. When we sat down, they gave us a nice sample of apple bread, which tasted very good, so we were optimistic. The french toast was exceptional, and the price was extremely fair. The side of fresh fruit was also a pleasant surprise, as we weren't expecting much for $2.50...quite inexpensive compared to other places, and it was a mix of raspberries, blackberries, pear slices and a nice heart of orange. Coffee and juice were both very good as well, with refills offered promptly. Was quite surprised to not see the place completely packed based on how good it was. Waitress told us they do a lot of business at their wine bar and that at night it's very busy. Once the word gets out about how good the breakfast is (described as brunch on their menu, but you can order whatever individual items you want, so it's not like the "brunch" you'd normally think of), it will be a very busy spot. This place is great!

My friends and I came here to start off a night out for a birthday and I have to say it was pretty good. About 8 of us walked in and were instantly escorted to a nice little corner that we pretty much took over. There isnt that much seating so thanks to the couple who moved for us. Anyway they had a nice variety of wines and the server had some good recommendations. We were all dressed up and it seemed to have been approprite for the venue. I would probably just make the "wine bar" area bigger, the store takes up too much room.

love a wine and food place...because inevitably I get hungry after I've had some wine. I visited 58 degrees with a friend on Saturday, it was on the empty side, even at 7:30 pm... which was fine by me....extra attention right? wrong....though the food and wine were tasty....and the staff seemed somewhat knowledgeable about the wine selection...they were inattentive, they only got my friend a taste when she wanted a glass of wine, it took forever for our main courses to come (we had salad...no cooking involved) and the check took an eternity... so with that said...I think it 's a cool concept and would love to go back, but only if they work out the kinks or I have no where to go for the rest of the evening....

I really like the space. The wine selection is very good. The smaller tasting pour is great for exploring. The food is well prepared and tasty, even if the portions seem a little small at times. I too find the service a little chilly and slow though not bad enough to keep me from returning. The times I've been at lunch, there was one person working the bar and waiting on the tables. All it takes is a mini rush on the place and everyone ends up waiting too long for everything. It's hard to blame the wait staff as they are trying to cope as best they can. I've never been at night, but I hear that it is very popular, hence crowded. The wine shop has a very good selection of wines at reasonable prices. Many of the wines are not available at your local grocery stores, so you have an opportunity to try some wines that you don't see everyday. On Sundays, you can pick something off the rack to drink in the bar, without the corkage fee, meaning that you can drink it at the bar at the "carry out" price.

To begin I'm not terribly knowledgeable about wine. I just know I like to drink it. This is probably my favorite place to go in Sacramento. I go with friends, out of town guests and on most of my first dates. They have a great variety and selection of wines. It's right in the heart of midtown's best people watching area. The place itself is cozy and chic. It is a great balance of casual but elegant without trying to be cool. There is a wine shop adjacent to the bar where you can buy the wines you tried and other wines and a handful of specialty beers too. The food is good but a bit overpriced. I absolutely love their cheese plate. They have a few beers on tap and what they do have is really, really good beer. On the downside, the patio is cramped and hard to navigate in and out of so it is definitely not good for a group (although I have made it work on occasion). The service is also hit or miss. I've had both great service and horrible service here. In fact I took a friend there last week and had a great time. She loved it so much she took her brother the next day and they had horrible service and therefore a horrible time. The sidewalk outside is broken and too narrow to walk more than single file to the door especially if they tilt the patio umbrellas so that they hang over the patio onto the sidewalk. All in all I still love this place and will keep going there.

We had lunch at 58 Degrees today and it was excellent! We started with the beef tartare appetizer and it was great--hand chopped raw steak perfectly seasoned served with fresh toasted croutons and salad greens. I had the special ahi salad which was seared ahi wrapped around a mound of salad greens-- one of the best ahi salads I've had. My friends had the risotto and crostini and they were both very happy with their choices. We had a nice sampling of tasting size glasses of wine which were suggested by our knowledgeable server. We finished with their chocolate sampling plate for dessert and espresso. The bill for the three of us came to $100 (less gratuity)--not cheap, but everything was so good that we all felt like we had found a new place that we could look forward to coming back to for another lunch or a light dinner. The wine selection is extremely varied and is definetely not California-centric like their local competition. The wines are all stored under a vacuum system that insures that every glass of wine is served under optimum conditions. (One of my pet peeves is ordering a glass of wine from a restaurant and having to return it because it was maybe the last glass from the bottle and had oxidized.) I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys good wine and excellently prepared food, albeit in small portions. I look forward to my next trip to Tucson, which is home base for this establishment.

I tried my first Moscato (a slightly carbonated white, sweet wine) here and let me tell you it was love at first taste. This is also where I rediscovered the joy of figs .. and who knew they complemented bleu cheese and toasted pecans so well? Not me. I'm a believer now, though. The service is always impeccable, including that in the wine shop. I used to pick up wine shippers here--lots of them, and everyone was always very helpful and accommodating.

Not really sure why this place has so many stars. Moved downtown recently and was looking for a wine spot to replace my beloved Wine Konnection in El Dorado Hills. Surly waitstaff...tossed menus down and walked away without any acknowledgement or offer of a drink, or wine suggestions. Bartenders arguing with each other in full view of customers, no friendliness at all. We took this as possibly an off night and went back again, but no improvement. Won't go back...not when L Street Urban Kitchen is right around the corner. Better food, better wine and amazing service.

The food was delicious and so was the wine. But the portions were super tiny! Positive: we didn't stuff ourselves. And we had room to go to Ricks Desserts. Negative: left wanting more and no left overs the next day. We will be going back. For sure,

I have never had dinner here, but for small plates and wine.....the best! Cute bar, nice shop inside, and the service is great. They are so attentive and friendly, I definetly keep coming back because of the service.

Excellent place. Very good wine selection and appetizers. Perfect for a chill night at a classy place. I've been there several times and wasn't disappointed. It's nice to have a place that you can taste a ton of wine and also purchase it at a good price.

Food: There bruschetta are a little bit too pungent for my taste but still good. I'm not a fan of cheese but my friends enjoyed their artisanal cheese plate. Had the grilled flank steak which was really good and at a descent price, $12. The group also enjoyed crab cakes, salt and pepper crusted ahi and seared steak sandwich. Other: The environment is more on the quite side but laid back. They offer great selection of wines, recommend "Z for Zinfandel". It's not very big, seating like 10+ tables. Overall, this one of my favorite place to dine at in Sacramento.

We came here on Cinco de Mayo. The place down the street was hopping, which made for great people watching from the sidewalk tables. The food was good, though portions were a bit small. The service was friendly & attentive - they even helped us stabilize the table when it proved too wobbly to set a wine glass on.

Wine selection was great but expensive. Mixed green salad was very good.. Tomato salad was an extremely small portion. I had the burger but it had a jalapeño that was too hot and ruined the meal.. Service and atmosphere were great.

I've not a bad thing to say about this place. I can show up (as I did yesterday) in shorts and a tank top and not feel uncomfortable or feel like they're giving me the stink eye. I can also show up in a dress and not feel like I'm the one being too bourgie. They all know their wine (as well they should) and time and time again make great recommendations. I've been gifted with more than enough information with every question I've ever asked. It's no problem to post up in there for three, maybe four hours, and never feel like I've overstayed my welcome. And their service has always been stellar. The food isn't flawless, but it's darn good. And let's not forget the no corkage fee on Sundays.. Win!

Great food here, I've worked with some of the chefs before, and they make some premium stuff. There's always something different to try here. Its a great hang out place, with a nice selection of wine and beers.

Wanted to try something new during Dine Downtown; their menu was the most interesting. Everything was delicious; the salad of shaved brussel sprouts, beets, and crispy pork belly was incredible! The wine pairings were perfect, and it was great to be able to buy a fun bottle of wine in the retail shop after. Service was great, once we figured their 'open seating' rules. Can be a little intimidating-maybe a sign? we had to ask a waiter what to do - he was not friendly or helpful. Fortunately the female waiters were much better! We will definitely be back.

One of the best spots in MidTown to get great wine and small bites. Service is great especially Edward. Ahi and hummus appetizers are awesome. You can get a full meal here with multiple small plates. Always fun. Plus you can buy wine at the wine shop. They have specials on different nights worth checking out.

The food is twice as tasty as it is expensive. The mushroom gnocchi inspired me to want to learn how to make a creamy mushroom sauce. The cheese plate selections were fantastic, and the bruschetta cripsy and topped with the freshest veggies. If I am ever in Sacremento again, I will be at 58 Degrees & Holding again, too.

A great, unique place in Sacramento with a diverse wine list and delicious food. In many ways it's a hidden gem, right next to Zocalo. The space is small with a wine bar, a few tables and lounge spaces. It can get crowded around happy hour, especially on their Wednesday night wine flight tastings, but in general you can always find a spot. I especially love Sunday brunch. The menu is small but accessible, the meals are perfectly portioned and surprisingly affordable. For $10 you can get a great breakfast from standard eggs/bacon/toast to eggs benedict and scrambles and a cup of coffee. Other meals are generally tapas style plates, from mac and cheese to tuna tartare. Nothing on the menu is particularly adventurous, but everything is well made; I've never had a bad experience here in my 10 - 15 stops. I always try new wines and beers here, and always find something good to enjoy. I don't visit their wine shop frequently, as I find the wines a bit pricey and light on local offerings (this is California after all), but for some reason that sentiment doesn't transfer to the restaurant's wine list which I find approachable with a good variety for different palates. Much better than L Wine Bar around the corner; I guess it's no surprise why 58 is the one still open.

Typical wine bar with nothing really spectacular. The customers are interesting...a guy near my table sounded drunk and kept on repeating to his friend how much he was making and expressed insecurities about the fact that he was running for a school related position without a Masters degree under his belt. TMI. They have a good selection of imported beers for a wine bar. I got a glass of Malbec and was not disappointed. I love the leisurely outdoor seating minus the drunk guy. I will have to check out the crepe restaurant located diagonally from the wine bar.

Excellent wine selections, and their food is delicious. Seriously, I crave their tuna tartar fortnightly. The cheese plate is also the perfect dish to share with a great friend over a glass of wine! Though I love the small bistro/bar setting here...sometimes I wish there were more places to sit. If you show up too late on a Friday or Saturday, many times you're left standing. Oh well! Cheers!

My wife and I love this place. We actually took Cara the bartender's recommendation on a cheese plate with the Roaring 40's blue cheese and it was phenomenol and definitely worth a try. I think their staff is extremely friendly and helpful when selecting wines. Wife drinks whites and I do reds (well, the Runquist - sp?) but will venture out when Ed or Cara force me. Anyway, their food is excellent and the people are fun. Try the French Toast at their weekend brunch and you won't be disappointed. Tried most of the wine bars and this is easily our favorite.

Again, another long day at work, a little stressed, feeling like a quiet evening out. I stumbled upon this place with a few girlfriends from work. I am far from being able to decipher good wine from bad, but I do know what I like and don't like. I have only been here thrice now, but definitely going to be a place I see myself frequent more often. Ambience: I was here on a Saturday night and 2 other random weeknights. Saturdays are fun, crowded, and a bit loud. However, I actually prefer the weeknight atmosphere after work. Much more subdued, quiet, slight murmurs and hums with the comforting clinking of wine glasses. Pair that with good conversation and I am set! The wine: Pretty extensive wine menu. I do like the fact that you have 3 options to choose from (the taste, the glass, the bottle). I am not much of a drinker so the 3 oz taste was perfect for me. My wine of choice? Anything effervescent/sparkling/SWEET. Naturally, I went for the moscato d'asti. Loved it. The food: You can choose from small plates to full entrees. The crab cakes, short rib tacos etc..decent food. Nothing spectacular there. Steer clear of the brussel sprout salad. I guess the mustard dressing did not pair well with the brussel sprouts. It ended up tasting like wasabi. Very odd. However, I really enjoyed the duck confit. Very tender, and the maple sherry jus brought out a nice flavor. My sister had the seared hanger steak, which was pretty good, but the portion was small. The seared salt and pepper ahi was actually very delectable as well! I really liked the cucumber lemon granita that topped the ahi. The play on temperatures dazzled my taste buds!

I married a critic who always threatens to write, so one resolution this year is to help her voice be heard. And it is is always good to start of with something nice to say.......... Fantastic way to start off the new year with their prie fix dinner at this hip wine lounge and bistro. Not very often you can use the following words to describe the same place; upscale, hip, freindly, affordable, and DELICIOUS. Started with a warm sweet potato soup. Very smooth and homey. Second course was a delicouse goat cheese salad that balanced out the soup. Third couse was a perfectly cooked hanger steak that was quickly devoured. And for the encore, a decadent pumpkin smore. Each course had a very smart wine pairing, mixing local and international varietals. Classy way to bring in the new year. The critic stopped back the next week to pick me up a bottle of the malbec we had at dinner, and was impressed.

I went here on a date with the husband. We wanted to try somewhere different and heard good things about this place. We were both so glad that we took the leap and went here. It was the perfect date place. There isn't a lot of seating, so keep that in mind when you go here, we called ahead and had them hold one of their few tables for us (a table for two right in front of the window, perfect). They have a big nice bar that most people sat at but we weren't interested in that. Parking was awful, we decided that we would never try to park there again next time a cab would just be easier. The building is cute from the outside it doesn't look like anything special, but it also doesn't look run down. The inside was well decorated and they had soft music playing, which was great I hate going to places where the music is so loud you have to scream over it to have a conversation. The food was amazing, everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were small but were plenty for us. I had the salmon salad which was one of the best salad I have had in a long time. We could not believe how cheap the food was, it was almost unbelievable. The wine was over priced, but was quality. Overall, we spent what we would have if we had gone to a nice restaurant, the difference was that the large portion was spent on a couple 15 dollar glass of wines and cheap food, whereas normally we would have spent the large portion on food. We shared an appetizer, and desert; We each had a dinner plate, and 2 glasses of wine, and the bill plus tip was under a hundred dollars.

It was Valentines Day and I had everything planned out already. My girlfriend and I were going to go to 58 Degrees & Holding for dinner and then catch The Vow. Sadly, I didn't notice that they weren't open on Tuesdays... However, I decided to give them a call anyways Tuesday morning because there was just that feeling in my gut that said, "Hey, Ryan! We're going t be open tomorrow! Come sip some wine and eat some yummy cheese and charcuterie!" So I called.. There was an answer.. I popped the question (Are you guys open?).. They answered.. YES. I literally jumped in my car out of excitement! They were only opening that Tuesday because it was Valentines Day and they had a limited menu. So, my girlfriend and I drove over to downtown Sac, parked and made our way into 58. It's a pretty casual, laid back place where you can sip on some wine and chat with your friends. We decided to do the tastings, which is 3 oz. of your preferred wine. We each got three to go with our cheese plate (Brie, Roaring 40s, and Gruyere), our Trio of Bruschetta, and our Charcuterie plate, which was packed with Salame, Prosciutto, Dried Beef, Duck Pate, and a variety of sauces. Everything was amazing...! I definitely would want to come again and try the other items they have to offer. The staff is also very friendly and helpful! AND, if you like the wine that you have... for those of you 21 and over... they have a wine shop that's right next door that's stocked with bottle after bottle! If you're looking to impress your date with a semi-intimate date or just looking for some wine to chat it up with your homies... HERE'S YOUR SPOT! CHEERS!

I wish we could give 1/2 stars; if I could, they'd get 3.5 stars. Anyhoo, went there and opted for the prix fixe menu that's part of the Dining Downtown promo. My meal included wine pairings for the following dishes: Iceberg Wedge salad with blue cheese dressing - Mediocre. Not bad, but not anything to call home about. Squash Risotto - Yummy. Perfectly cooked, i.e. not undercooked like a lot of places. Creme Brulee - Nothing special, but not bad. I decided to give them 4 instead of 3 stars b/c our server was nice, polite, and friendly and b/c the wine pairings were perfect (except for the red paired with my risotto. That wasn't so perfect.) Total bill: $45 (not including tip and tax).

Very cool. Maybe a little too "cool." This is definitely a place to see and be seen. Dress appropriately. That means tight, short and low-cut. Food is excellent and competitively priced. Decor/style is SF/LA minimilast hip. The dining area is too small and the wine selling area is too big--I saw at least 10 people walk in look for a place to sit and walk out because there was no available seating. We went because I read on-line that there was no corkage fee--there was. What's up with that? Chardonnay selection so-so. They need a strong chardonnay like Frank Family or Raumber (sp?) Allow time, and money, for parking.

58 Degrees & Holding Co. is right in the heart of midtown. It can really get busy there on the weekends. Went there for dinner, had their mussels (were very good), and the steak sandwich was to die for... ( thought it was perfectly prepared) And then..... the chocolate lava cake... YES! They had a large wine selection. my friend loved his short ribs. The regular menu also changes often. I miss the Brussels sprout salad, If you need a nice to go, give them a try.

The atmosphere at 58 Degrees is lovely. I like to go to places by myself if I don't have a friend to join me and the bar is perfect for a night like that. The staff are pleasant and easy to chat with and service is fast and efficient. The only problem with this place is that it's at times so popular that it can get a little crowded. Great mac and cheese appetizer. It's attached to a wine store so if you taste something you like, you can take it with you. The only thing I don't like about 58 Degrees is that I wish it were larger. It can get a bit packed and seating is limited. The patio seating provides some relief on a busy night, but I just try to hit it when it's not packed.

Ok, so this place is kind of ritzy and may appear snobby at first glance. But, it's the perfect place if you're in the mood for a mellow evening and a good glass of wine. I've never ordered an entree here, but I'm a big fan of the cheese board and the molten lava cake. The staff are knowledgeable and down-to-earth, and they don't make you feel annoying if you ask a ton of questions about the wines, like I do. I'd say it's definitely the best wine bar around.

Have dined here and wined here on several occasions - lunch, dinner, & Wed. night wine tasting (used to be nice, until it became too popular and ridiculous- more on that later). Lunch and dinner (Mon., Tues., or Thurs. ONLY). I absolutely have the HOTS for the Spicy Ahi Tartare and the Mussels (sometimes not available) - add a nice glass of white wine (Talbot for me, please) and enjoy outside on a nice day - now that's the kind of lunch hour/s I just NEED sometimes. Dinner - same as lunch (can't go back to work sloshed), but MORE wine. Love to play with my food, and these two dishes are perfect for my little love affair . . . and be sure to ask for more bread to sop up that lovely garlicky beer broth from the mussels. On to the bad. And this kinda hurts my heart a little because the Wed. night wine tasting used to be pretty casual, cool, and low-key . . . many moons ago. But now have just become completely obnoxious! I hate the whole damn ticket thing (not being very ambidextrous - I'm a bit worried about spillage, juggling tickets that I have to rip apart . . . . and a wine glass?). I hate that some idiots probably made you resort to tickets (grow up - it's 6 tastes only). I hate that new spout thingy that doesn't allow them to pour me a little extra anymore. I hate that you are over-wrought with a bunch of yahoos who just want to be "seen". Enough hate - I'll just avoid you on Wed. evenings. And I'll continue to enjoy you for the occasional lunch.

Anytime we pass through Sac when making our way to and from Tahoe, it's as good an excuse as any to stop by this place. I'm no wine afficionado but I am a foodie, so this review is more about the food. Everything I've tried on their menu was outstanding, with special recognition going to the 4 cheese macaroni (probably THE best mac & cheese I've ever had) and angus burgers. I like that the portions are small but easily shareable (between 2 people you can probably get away with ordering 2 or 3 things on the menu and be pretty full). Paired with wine the bill could get a little steep but I think it's worth it given the quality of the food. I wish there was someplace like this near where I live. Atmosphere-wise I like the casual/bistro feel of the place. The crowd is interesting to observe though - it's like a congregation of Sacramento cougars, displaced jocks too scared to appear emasculated by drinking wine so they order beer (lol), and creepy middle-aged dudes in their long sleeved untucked button down shirts and designer jeans oogling ex-sorority 20somethings with artificial boobs and caked on makeup. It's pretty entertaining to watch when I'm chowing down on my mac & cheese.

After coming here for the past 2 years, I had to amend my previous review to a now 5 star rating. Service is consistently great, friendly, and always welcoming when I come in. Food never disappoints. This is definitely my go-to place for a laid back and cozy atmosphere, great wine selection, and yummy small plates. The food is always presented beautifully, and the portion sizes are perfect. The staff has been the same for a while, and I think that says a lot about a place.

I was quite impressed with this restaurant! The atmosphere dim and low key. The serving staff upbeat and happy! The food and wine, delicious and bold! I first want to state that I really like how all the servers tend to you as they equally split the tips at the end. All were very friendly and knowledgeable! The food was so yummy! I am still thinking about my 58 Degree Organic Salad that I ordered last night. Very tasty. The combination of pine nuts and the creamy horseradish dressing is just absolutely divine! Try the trio of Bruschetta where you can pick and choose. All three that we picked were amazing! Amazing! The cheese plate has a great variety, and no complaints of the variety of wine offered. I wish I lived closer, but will defiantly be making an "appearance" the next time I am in town! Try it! you won't be sorry!

Great place to taste a variety of wines not found at other places. Plus, it's nice to have the option of glass sizes .,,, allows for more tasting.. great ambience, warm and cozy with options of sitting and dining at the bar, couches or high table tops. Had dinner here Saturday night with the hubby... and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves....drank some great cab and zins, plus hubby and a "beer" for dessert.... food extremely tasty with moderate portion sizes... i had the flat bread with wild mushroooms and goat cheese... yummy and hubby and shrimp and grits!! will definitely return in warmer weather to sit outside!!

Come togetherrr, rrrright now....over cheese! The cheese sampler is awesome, but the Macaroni & Cheese is even more awesome! I can't even be held accountable for my poor grammar usage because the cheese and wine coma from this home away from home is oh so powerful. Who would think that balsamic vinegar gelee would be something that I would love, but oh boy or girl, look out, because you will not expect the flavor explosion this powerful little nugget imparts upon your palette! This is a great place for a date or with the gals. It's intimate, sexy, the menu is extensive and the size options are great. You can order a 3 oz or 6 oz taste...or of course the full bottle. And if you find a bottle that you enjoy more than your date (unfortunately this has happened to me), the store is only a few steps away...so help yourself! They carry The Prisoner here, which is not easy to find and is an amazing bottle of wine. This place is great for lunch, dinner, or a nightcap with dessert. It's cozy, the staff is knowledgeable and welcoming, and menu options will warm your soul.

Wine bars in SoCal are so...2006. Wine bars in Sacramento are so...there! There are so many restaurants and clubs in Sacramento that are nothing but pure pretense...and so many that try to act "big city". Well, okay...I'm eating my words. Sacramento has finally done something that I thought couldn't be done: a GREAT wine bar that beats ANYTHING in L.A. Wine bars in LA could learn a thing or two from 58 degrees. Right off the bat: Alba Vineyards 2007 Viognier, chilled perfectly. Artisanal cheese plate with an excellent selection of brie, gorganzola, sheep and "butter" cheeses. I'm a huge fan of poutine when I'm in Canada...done the Canadian way. Fifty-eight degrees has a turn on poutine - using blue cheese "gravy" that gives the "real" poutine a run for its money. Finally, we turn to the 4-cheese macaroni and cheese. If you're a mac-n-cheese fan, you're instantly a fan of this mac-n-cheese. Split that whole bottle of Viognier with my wife, so when we left, we were so happy we were ready to go back right away. This place is going to be on our list to "hit" whenever we're in Sacramento.

I found this place on the Urban Spoon app and went there with my husband on a date. I had the gnocci, and it was so good I wanted to have it's babies. Their cheese platter was also excellent, and they had a fig compote that was to die for. My Pinot Noir was excellent, and after my first little carafe was finished I was immediatly supplied with another one. The only thing that makes me a bit sad is that it is rather small, and I am sure that if I went at peak dining time I would never get in.

Let's begin with this: this place is my spot. You know, my "Cheers" of a sort, though when I come in the astoundingly adorable, brilliant, and attentive young man behind the bar (let's not embarrass anyone) always says not "Norm" but "Professor!" and gives me the questioning nod that means, "Usual glass of the Old Soul red?" Now what girl doesn't like that? I have been here seventy-six times on dates, meeting friends, and family occasions. But last semester I started stopping in Thursday nights late after my Argumentative Composition section out in South Sac's loveliest community college. I'd bring my stack of essays, maybe a few quizzes to mark up with a red pen, and slip on my Prada glasses and slip in to a stool at the long but not too expansive bar. You can't believe how many interesting folk I've run across - a lovely girl who owns a dress shop in Davis, a transsexual (stock) trader originally from San Diego who moved up north to reconnect with family, an Episcopalian minister with the prettiest eyes this side of Curtis Park, and perhaps the world's most troubled attorney. The thing is, whenever I recommend "58" everyone - literally, every time - says "L Wine Bar is better." Yes, L is bigger, sleeker, has a more expansive list. But 58 is the kind of place that they know you, and treat you well. The food is great - the hangar steak and charcuterie are my preferred dishes - and the wine is divine, with a generous pour. It's small, it fills up fast with interesting but never ostentatious people, and it's never too dark or too bright. If you must know, I've penned a few poems here. It's truly the only place in Sacramento that reminds me of an old school French Quarter corner salon, or a neighborhood Parisian Bistro. Go, let them get to know you. Order the steak and the Old Soul red.

Snooty McSnooterson Ville. The gals and I went there for a few drinks. Did not expect to be raped for corkage fees of $15 on top of the high priced bottles and $14 for two little ol' crab cakes. The appetizers were nice. The first server was a snotty diva who handed us off to a much nicer and down to earth server. Props to them because we were tipsy and not looking "the part". Good place if you want to impress someone.

All I can say is "way yum!" A couple of my friends and I went there last Friday evening and the experience was excellent. Delicious food, fun and friendly service, and nice atmosphere. We dined outside in the sidewalk dining area. I really enjoyed my red wine, and the California Burger was superb. And, because I wanted to ensure that I received all the flavonoids I could, I opted in for the flourless chocolate cake, too. Gotta take care of my heart health! :-) The only improvement would have been for the cake to have been heated. Then it would have been truly hot chocolate!

3.5 stars. They have some kick ass specialty beers here. I love the store where you can get a bunch of obscure and cult classic wines, but I think the selection in the bar is just okay. And I heard that if you are a member it's like $100 a month to store your wine in a wine locker/fridge there and then they still charge you a corkage fee if you want to open one and drink it there. Not sure if that is true, but if so, cut the members some slack!

I wanted to like this place since my foodie/wine-o friend has had positive experiences, but I don't want to be a prevaricator. The bartender was pleasant and welcomed me to choose a table. Aside from that, I sympathize with Debra G. who received terrible service -- namely Chris according to my bill. I was ignored for a solid 10-15 mins, before I flagged him down to ask for a wine list. Guests who arrived after I did were approached already. This server didn't ask any preliminary questions to assess what I food or wines I'd like to order. I gave him the benefit of the doubt; perhaps he didn't want to presume to know my palette... so I volunteered information & solicited his recommendations. After all, he works there and should know what they serve. He made a SINGLE suggestion after I mentioned I wanted to try a flight. Nice job, buddy -- maybe the President should name you CEO of GM or Chrysler. If drivers are asking for hybrids, don't give 'em gas-guzzlers. Being the seasoned red wine afecionada I am, I strung together my own flight. Price points were reasonable considering the wine bars I recently visited... and I generously tipped b/c I could and this poor kid probably holds down a few jobs to make ends meet. Don't blow your tips in one place, Chris, b/c if I visit 58 Degrees again, I'll ask for a different server. The selection of red wines was acceptable. Heavy on the Napa offerings and some international. For the record, the server's suggestion was good -- but if a customer asks for variety, seize the opportunity to upsell unless you don't think the alternatives are good enough. Music was decent; not as phony as a wine bar could play -- but neither from a juke box or a DJ (in the truest sense). Could be a good venue for small groups (handful of people) if service improves. In the meantime, go to the wineries for more knowledgeable and hospitable service. (At least I didn't say another midtown wine bar.)

Just had a to-die-for lunch here. We came upon the restaurant by accident, and I'm glad we did (thanks, Yelpers, for steering us in the right direction). The atmosphere inside is really cute and comfortable, although there was a nasty smell upon entering. I ordered the steak sandwich, and it was amazing. Every bite was perfect, and even the salad that came with it was delicious. I ate every last bit on my plate, including a stray mushroom, something I rarely do. The service was pretty slow, and the food took a really long time to come out. The waiter apologized and offered us two desserts on the house to make up for this (and we hadn't even complained!). We ordered the panna cotta and apple tart...both of which were also incredible. Clean bathrooms, decent prices. I will be coming back here, for sure. A wonderful experience.

You do not know how excited I was when this wine bar opened up!!! And it is right in the heart of midtown which is by far the best area to go out in for Sacramento. Their wine list could keep you entertained for DAYS ON END!! And everyone that works there knows so much about wine, it is the perfect place to learn. When my boyfriend and I went here we were poured two glasses of red wine and our waiter took one step from our table and was about to leave when he turned around and said, "wait, I can smell cork I believe in your glasses of wine..." You could not really visibly see anything tangible in our glasses at all yet from two feet away he could actually smell the remnants of cork in our glasses!! If expertise in a wine bar isn't enough for you to try this place, you have got to be crazy!

I used to really like coming to 58 when it was very new and local people who lived near by would regularly visit but recently I've noticed a few things go downward in this place. Here's how I break it down: Service - All of the long time employees are always very sweet and welcoming. The staff's wine knowledge seems a little limited but then again so is mine so I really don't mind. There is a semi new guy that has worked there since summer who I can't stand. My friend bought a $20 dollar glass of wine and he poured it like a jackass from a foot up in the air when we were sitting on the couches almost knocking it off the table. Another visit in the summer I purchased a bottle of sparking wine between two people and he left it on our table outside without an ice bucket. Overall just pretty annoying and I hate when I get this guy as a server. Wine - A good variety. They have a great by the glass service. Most wine bars seem to have stale or days old wine when you buy it by the glass but I've never experienced this here. I really love the no corkage Sundays. Food - My favorites are the brushetta, chocolate plate, skirt stake and tuna tartar. Everything I've tried has been very good. Storing wine here - I was a fan of doing this until they changed the rules and you no longer can open a bottle from your storage on Sundays for no corkage. This just seems a little tight. Obviously if you're paying monthly to store your wine you take it pretty seriously. Meaning you buy a lot of bottles from there store and most likely are a valued customer to the restaurant and staff. It seems silly that they choose to make an extra $15 bucks of the people that most likely support them to most.

Wine by the glass generally pisses me off considering it's price to value ratio. But, I love this place, it's atmosphere, it's knowledgeable staff, and the terrific and delicious flank steak. On the wine thing I ended up purchasing a bottle because Sunday does not include a $15 cork fee. Still payed too much for the wine but I did love it.

First visit ever when my work closed early for the holiday weekend 05/23/08. Grabbed my husband, jumped on RT and made it there before the Happy Hour ended (only from 3-5 would have gotten 5 stars if HH was till 6!) I tried out their Pinot Flight $10 & husband had the Hoegaarden Belgian White beer which he enjoyed. My flight consisted of Willammette Valley's 06 Lange Pinot ($39/retail) so-so; France's Bouchard 05 Pere & Fils ($40/retail) little better & Russian River 05 Trione($54/retail) kidding me? no way would I ever pay that - barely drinkable. We really enjoyed the 1/2 priced Bruschetta Trio: 1. grilled eggplant 2. smoke mozzarella, sd tom & walnuts 3. roasted red ppr & asparagus. Since I had Monday off and wanted to try their lunch menu, we headed back on 05/26/08 before heading to the Jazz Fest. Both the Angus Burger and Grilled Chicken Sandwich were very very good! The burger came out perfect med. rare and the bacon on my Chicken Sandwich was yummy crispy, not to mention the basil aioli was on of the highlights. Now we both ordered the 5-spiced fries, we should only had one and picked another side. The fries salt content probably made my blood pressure raise that day! Although real good with the ketchup, the spices was little over kill and the fries were limp, greasy and after a couple bites I couldn't eat anymore w/o scraping the spices off. This time I chose my own darn flights! 1. Maquis Lien Syrah Red Blend 04 Chile - never one to disappoint, Marquis has been consistent throughout the years and bold yet smooth too. 2. Vina Sastre Roble Tempranillo 06 - even bolder but just as smooth & I really liked this one and 3. Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec 06, another delish wine much bolder but no harsh bite. All retail $35 & under, certainly use my hard earned money for any of these three bottles. Server on Monday, very knowledgeable about the wines I chose and she memorized our entire orders w/o issues or missed anything. Very cordial and pleasant. So thank you Kara - great job!

Had a really nice time there last night with a bunch of girlfriends for a Bachelorette party! We were seated in a nice section where we could all chat with the entire group and not with just the person next to you. I was pleasantly surprised by their beer selection and the mac and cheese was a down to earth option to the cheese plate.

Atmosphere: Easy going and friendly. Good for a quiet date or a larger get together. Dimly lit with a classic-modern decor. Food: A twist on some traditionals. The bruscettas were amazing, especially the sundried tomato and mozzarella. Service: You won't just have one server, but a team. They are prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. I was there last Friday night and have nothing but compliments for the staff. Summary: Will definitely return and bring more people with me!

My buddy asked me to meet him there the other night. I didn't even know it was a wine bar until I got there. I told him I was dressed janky and he said it didn't matter. I still felt unclassy when I walked in. I also didn't know that I was to be playing wingman for him. 58 Degrees has that wine tap dispensing glass display cabinet thing that I think is temperature controlled to um... 58 degrees. I'm only guessing. If you're selling a lot of wine it's got to be a hassle to have change the 750ml bottles so often. I personally can go through a bottle myself in an evening. What I didn't know until I had already ordered was that they have a really good selection of Belgian beers as well. They also have some beer from New Belgian Brewing Co. but they are not really from Belgium. Here's what I had; 2006 Crios de Susana Balbo Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina. Light tannins and slightly fleeting but it paired well with the Beef Carpaccio. Grant Burge 10yr tawny port from Barossa Valley, Australia. Golden raisin (you know, the yellow ones) tones with a very mild walnut aftertaste. Paired with the chocolate plate. 2005 Macchia Old Vine Zin from Lodi, California. OK, this one was weird. I don't like zins. I didn't know it was a zin when my friend's date asked me to taste it. It smelled very vanilla-y but it turns out that wasn't the wine I was smelling. This girl was wearing some perfume or lotion that transferred to the glass somehow. The wine was OK as far as zins go but the scent really threw me off. Speaking of scents. Tell them not to give you the leather placemats they use. Mine smelled as if it had just come from the tannery or something. The smell of petroleum was pretty strong at times and it interfered with my trying to smell and taste things. Still, 58 was cool and I'll probably go back and try some beer as well.

Okay, let me start off by saying that this place is really pricey. Don't go here unless you want to drop a fair sum on a meal, because there is nothing on the menu under $15... so be prepared. That said, I love this place. The inside is beautiful. I love the atmosphere, I love the wine selection, I love the food and I love the wine tasting on Wednesdays. Oh, and all of the guys that work there are really, really attractive. Go on Wednesdays for the $10 tasting. 5 wines, fairly adequate pours and always a good time.

I enjoyed a post-dinner glass with three other friends here. The selection and service were great. Afterwards, we all checked out the selection for purchasing and our server came out to discuss some of the bottles we were looking at, with an expert knowledge of product, creation, and source. I'll definitely be back.

Ahhh yuppies. Furthermore...Sacramento yuppies. It's cute. So for a wine bar it's nice. But sit at the bar itself. The chairs were wobbly and I they have three types of wine glasses: 1) champagne flute 2) slightly wider white wine glass 3) and a wine size fits all slightly wider wine glass. Pretty shitty for a yuppie wine bar. The waiters did not know how to recommend / explain wines. When asking three separate waiters... they all said the same shit: "This is our most popular wine". Well if you all recommend the same wine no wonder why. And at a point a Syrah I ordered tasted like mold...so I asked them and they told me "That's how it's supposed to taste". Kthnx. The food itself... get the short ribs. Not as good as Napa Rose but still pretty decent. The risotto rice cakes tasted like ass... it needed seasoning or something. Just because you slap some undercooked rice together and fry it up it doesn't make it amazing or innovative. Ended up throwing away most of it. The cheese plate was ok... just... ok.... not enough variety and they just used bread to take up space. Order it if you want some bread. Not enough commitment either...for a wine bar I was really disappointed that they didn't rinse your glasses with the red wine and they didn't use the appropriate glasses. And the Rose was under chilled... temperature control seems like a wine bar should be able to do. The crowd is fun to watch I suppose. I saw a guy chew on a cork and explain to his friend how you're supposed to do that. I would be endlessly delighted if he did that just to dick around with him. But somehow...I seriously doubt it. Selection is better than most winecentric restaurants but not stellar. Waiters aren't helpful. Food is alright. Worth the visit with moderate expectations.

Good happy hour food but too bad it ends at 6pm. What's up with that? Since the food was at happy hour prices, let's splurge and make it a feast. I ordered the Mac n cheesey "wezzey" because I grew up on that stuff and a lot of my friends raved about how good it was. In my opinion it was aite. Technically the name is Four dollar Mac and Cheese but i decided to give it a twist because of the way how it taste, and the several types of cheese blend use to make it very cheesy and creamy. Portion wise, not worth it because it was served in a tiny coffee cup. **Please see pictures** Regular price is $8. The sliders were tasty which was accompany with sharp cheese, lettuce and a tomato. BUT as for the bun, they substituted it with some sort of thinly toasted pita bread which made it unique and tasty. The meat used was fresh ground beef which u could definitely taste as the juices were dripping out. Sucks they only serve you 2 sliders as oppose to 3 like the MIX and Morton's. The Brie with baguette bread, roasted nuts and cranberry stuff was delicious. It was a good mixture to spread on the bread. Excellent snacking food. Also ordered the a pint size of the Trumier beer which was a very light beer for $5. Overall, I'd probably go to the place again.

For someone who doesn't know much about wine, but loves a good pairing, I'd highly recommend this place. The staff knows their stuff, and the selection, location, and ambiance are all great. Best of all, both my date and I had a great dinner here. The mussel appetizer was great (and I've dined in Belgium, so I'd like to think I'm a good judge). My hangar steak was paired with - if I remember correctly - a Petite Surat (sp?). Anyways, it was an awesome pairing. My date had an awesome pan-fried Salmon over garlic mashed potatoes. Her white wine was paired nicely - but the actual name of the wine didn't register in my wine-deficient memory banks. I gotta say that the place is a little cramped from what I remember, and outdoor seating is limited...that's the only drawback. Otherwise, great place & great experience.

My friend hit me up yesterday about this place next to Zocalo that she wanted to try, so we met up after work. Very nice. She is a wine connoisseur and had a taste of 3 different buttery Chardonnays. The Falcor, Frank Family and Ferrari Carano. I think her fave ended up being the Falcor. I like crisp whites and chose the Sonoma Vineyards Chardonnay and the Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio. Great! We shared the Bruschetta appetizer that had smoked mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes and toasted walnuts and drizzled olive oil. Yummy! I tried the Grilled Chicken Caesar salad which was delicious and my friend had the Asparagus & goat cheese ravioli. Very good. We would come here again. Probably try some reds..
