so sad. =( the tofu wasn't even OK it was BAD. no flavor in the soup at all! it was a lot of food but my sisters and I couldn't even finish it because it was so bland! service was pretty bad! they had like small like tea cups of water and they didn't even asked if we wanted some more til the last minute that we were about to leave he gave us a bottle of water to refill our plastic glasses. =( i think the only thing that was okay was the rice =) haha!! just don't even try this place... =(

Worst service. Walked out as soon as I walked in. DO NOT GO THERE!

everytime I go this place, I always ordered soondooboo but today I tried their new menu Galbitang. first impression was big enough to eat and the beef rib was very soft. There was some noodle in this soup and it was soft and delicious. The soup was very rich taste from beef. It makes me so happy. Side dishes were different from the other days. They havd new side dishes and it was very delicious. Everytime I go there, the old man and his wife serves very gentle and nice. I really like this place and want to come again for their good food. If you want to eat Original Korean food, I strongly recommend you to go this place. You won't regret. I will give 5 stars for this restaurent.

they moved to a bigger place! the food is still as good as it was. this time, i tried their bibimbab (bibimbap? lol idk). i have nothing to compare it to since it was my first time having it, but it was good. it doesn't need any kind of sauce because everything on it was tasty enough. the sides that accompanied our dinner was great, and refillable. love their onion pancakes. the waiter that served us was cheerful. he sounded tired because we went an hour before it closed, but he still took care of us. it was a bit slow though since there was only one waiter and the owner taking care of the customers at the time, but i still loved the service. definitely will come back. tofu soup is great btw. even without the combo, that thing fills you up. worth the price because their soup is filled with beef (or whatever you decide to go with.. seafood.. etc.) worth the try!

Came in here around 12pm for lunch and we were the only ones here. It felt kinda awkward because I've never really been the only one in a restaurant before. First, we were served the pancakes which were pretty delicious. As for the side dishes, they were alright but nothing too special. The owner was a very sweet, nice man and for that reason it makes this place a whole lot better. I got the mild beef tofu and it was just OK. It was a way larger portion than any other tofu house I've been to and I was only able to finish like half of it. After eating in ktown for so long, I'd have to say that their tofu isn't up to par. I would've been disappointed but their japchae was REALLY good, so that made up for it. I wouldn't order tofu here if I were to return.

Going keep this short and simple. This is no BCD ,but it's actually ok considering its in the IE and it's the only tofu house within a 15+ miles radius. The service was petty slow at times, but the owner is very nice and friendly. Food: Beef Tofu mild was lacking flavor and the beef were in big chunks. Kim Chee Tofu extra spicy. This was ok. It had a bit more flavor, maybe because of the extra spice. Bulgogi. Another ok dish. The beef was well marinated and tender. Bibimbap. This was the best dish. I had better, but this was my dish of the night. In the end it was just ok.

I love this place! It's become basically a weekly spot for me to eat... You can't go wrong with the bibimbap and tofu soup combo. The sides are Delish! My hubby gets the bulgogi... Both Te great. We have also had the spicy chicken and spicy pork... Both are great just don't underestimate the heat... I highly recommend this place!!

It's my first time trying Bibimbab and although I gave the place three star it was really good. I will definitely come back for it. But the tofu soup not so. I don't know how tofu soup should really taste but for me it was bland. It was spicy coz I chose mild but other than that it was really bland. The side dishes are okay and the staff are nice. But since the restaurant is named a Tofu House, I was expecting a bit more from it.

Sucks for the people that actually live around here to only have this tofu place as their only option. SHOUT OUTZ TO UCR for giving me the opportunity to taste the worst soondubu of my young career. Having tried a bunch of tofu places already in OC & LA I thought to myself "how bad can tofu really get?" Most usually tasted the same with only a few that stood out. BUT Boy did I find out the hard way. Ordered the reg beef $9.49 mild. The tofu itself was ok. Soft, edible. The soup base tasting bland is what really ruined my meal. It tasted super watery like I was drinking hot water with some artificial spice that did not mix well with the water. Even SHIN RAMEN SOUP TASTED BETTER THEN THIS. They also added mushroom to it something Ive never experienced in my soondubu. I was actually quite delighted for I am a big fan of mushroom but it did not take the blandness away from the soup at all. Best part of my meal was the free pancake they give out. I only know of a couple of places that give this out along with the small dishes. Small dishes were mediocre but the main part of the meal should be the tofu and it was definitely not good enough to come back. I really wish I could have given this place more stars due to the old man & lady running the places. Who would have thought that these elderly Korean folk could not make a decent soondubu. Normally I love tofu soup, but this one was odd or maybe I didint notice before with other restaurant but the soup is very bland. If it was chicken broth and/or some other broth I think it might have taste better. It seems you can only taste the spice. The spicy chicken was ok but not a big portion for that price compared to other Korean restaurant. Service is fine, restaurant looks clean and descent. I will probably past by again just because there's no other Korean restaurant that is closer.

There is NO REASON for this place to have only 3 stars! Seriously people- the poor reviews must be from people who do not know about Korean food! For first time people try one of these: Meat lover- BBQ Ribs or Beef Bulgogi Spicy Meat Lover- Pork Bulgogi (Daegi Gogi) Stone Hot Bibimbap Original Tofu Soup (you pick the spiciness) You can do some of these as combos too! This is as good as Irvine and garden Grove korean! Yum!

This place is a great place to visit after going ice skating nearby or on a rare, rainy socal day. It's a great option to have if you don't want to drive to Ktown in la or somewhere in the OC. The owner is a nice man, that likes to banter with his guests. I usually get the spicy level of hotness, but for me, it's just temperature hot, not spicy hot lol wished there was more side dishes but I'm usually too full to finish those anyway. The after meal dessert drink is really delicious too. The perfect level of sweet and cool!

Left them cash for tips even though service was beyond horrible. Then later found out that they charged additional tips on my credit card. Has never seen such dishonest business. No word to describe how low can the owner/ restaurant be.

I really question the quality of its dishes. For starters, I wouldn't go a hour or so before they close. The sea food tasted funny in the seafood tofubo. It is way too fishy for the shrimp and ouster. Clean sign of these weren't fresh and about to go bad. Kimchi tasted sour and leafs are too flat not crisp at all. Again, been in a jar for too long. I was sure the food would be good since there were elder Korean there. Now I am not so sure we ate from the same menu.

this is like the only tofu place in rside I think?? comment and let me know if there's others so I can try it. came here because I was hungover from drinking the night before. got what I always get, beef and kimchi mild. the soft tofu isn't as soft as in OC but that was fine with me. I liked the flavor of the soup so that was a plus. one thing I didn't like was the beef in my soup. it was tough and very chewy and hard to swallow. I couldn't eat most of the beef so had to throw it away. I thought it was weird bc my friend ordered the seafood combo and didn't get an egg but I got an egg with mine. I guess I'm used to OC where every soup got an egg. I think it his place is owned by an old couple. the old man took the orders and the old woman was the cook. she didn't understand a single word of English. and the man knew limited English. they should hire someone young who speaks English to work for them. overall, I probably wouldn't come back here. I hope there's another tofu place near here bc I love eating this.

First timers with my man. The hostess/server/busser was friendly & attentive. Clean and simple and pretty big. Reason why I gave it 4 stars though is because it tasted like any other Korean restaurants I've been to. Which isn't a bad thing...still very delicious but nothing new. My boyfriend and I got the bbq ribs & tofu soup (& some side dish that were yummy). I don't really care much for tofu soup...that's more my boyfriend. They also give us "pancakes" before they serve you your meal, which is pretty good. I liked this place...I'd definitely come again

A great place for quick delicious Korean meal!! The service is great.. The older gentleman is sweet and friendly... And the lunch specials are awesome to boot!!

  • Jay N.

Good enough for the ie not having to drive to diamond bar or Orange County. I usually get the kimchi and pork soondaeboo. I usually have it spicy, it's not that spicy. The panchan is delicious! They give you so much of a variety. Gives me my veggie fix for the day. I would recommend this place if you don't want to drive far for your fix of tofu soup. Down side Their service isn't that great so don't come in expecting to be king or queen even if your the only one there.

  • Ms A.

freindly service, delicious food, nice place- will definitely come back again I ordered the Kimchi Tofu Soup in medium heat (spicy ness) and it's not as spicy as I though; the spicy chicken on the other hand is really spicy- delicious!

    (4)
  • Eva L.

I've had better soondubu elsewhere. The stew is diluted. There's not enough flavoring at all. The banchan are mediocre at best. Their Korean pancakes are probably the only redeeming factor. I love my soondubu, and I was greatly disappointed when I ate here.

    (2)
  • Tanya L.

Good tofu soups but I didn't like the grilled fish or bibimbap too much. The side dishes were perfect with the soup. The egg/onion pancake they give you when you sit down was kinda oily but I thought it was so good! Crispy and had a good flavor. I saw someone across the room get a delicious plate so I'll come back and see what that was, until then, stick to the tofu soups.

Wow now that I have found this little gem no need to drive to k town. Food is excellent the old man is a sweetheart. Portions are great. Try the Chun it's to die for. I will be here at least 3 times a month. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Seriously if you enjoy k food you gotta try this place.

Pretty decent place for soon tofu as choices are limited coming from further east. Good selection of banchan and the stone pot bibimbap was enjoyable as well. Will have to return to try more items soon...

OK Tofu House.....it was not even OK. This is the second time I've been here. My first time was 3 years ago at their old location (I think?). Anyway, the first time was nothing to rave about, not bad, not good. But this second time was just bad enough to post a review. So we walk in and a lady motions for us to sit where ever we'd like. We sit down and look at the menu even though we already know what we want (it was a rainy weekend perfect for soup and bulgogi). The place was relatively empty..with 3 or 4 other tables of people there, but for some reason it was taking a noticeable amount of time for someone to acknowledge us being there, even though the young waitress walked by us multiple times. Then 2 people walked in, got seated, and we saw them get acknowledged and served water right away. At this point My boyfriend was starting to get really ticked off...and we considered getting up to leave and just go to Koreana instead. Eventually an older lady walked by us, saw us, then I heard her yelling at the younger waitress in Korean. Soon after that the young waitress finally acknowledged us, took our orders, and we finally got water and food. Our soups and bulgogi came quickly after that..I'm guessing she got in trouble for ignoring us...because she kept asking us if we were ok and paying lots of attention to us after that....but once we started eating, to be completely frank, the soups were just so bland. We both ordered mild, but literally all it tasted like was hot water that left a taste of spiciness in your mouth. Bleh, we kinda forced ourselves to finish it. So basically, got ignored for no good reason, soup was bland, and bulgogi was decent. Probably won't be coming back. Ever. Too bad BCD is so far away from Riverside

The old man running this joint is sweet and loud. He greeted me with a very loud "annyong haseyo!!!!!!" when I came into the restaurant. I was their first customer for the day and the lights and music weren't even turned on yet. I got the combination tofu soup (beef, shrimp & clam). The side dishes included: kimchi (overly fermented, sort of lost its flavor as a result), seaweed (no vinegar seasoning), bean sprouts (no sesame oil seasoning), kimchi cucumbers (always a delightful side dish), potatoes in soy sauce and dried mini anchovies in shishito peppers (my favorite!) I was served a veggie pancake first and I found it to be a bit chewy (maybe even a bit rubbery...) The soup was served bubbly hot (as it should be) and I immediately cracked my egg into it. I usually enjoy my eggs cooked hard with no runny yolk but the soup wasn't hot enough to cook the yolk through. The soup was flavored and seasoned decently. Although I think it could have used more beef, shrimp and clam. The beef is cut a little bit thicker than I'm used to. Overall, it's an ok spot to grab lunch and my meal was made even better since it was cold and rainy weather. It is a bit expensive ($8.99 for the soup during lunch) but you really don't have that many options for Korean food in Riverside. If my office was still in Riverside, I'd probably come here more often. But since my office has moved to Corona, I'd probably rather eat soon dubu at Country BBQ in Corona or make the trek all the way to Chino Hills for Young Dong (in my opinion, still the BEST soon dubu in SoCal).

The soondubu and beef bulgogi were delicious and so were the banchan. The people working were very accommodating and kind. The environment is clean and not crowded or loud. Generally, when I order soondubu I have to order the second to most spicy to get any flavor. That's not the case here. Spicy means spicy. :) Overall, I'm thrilled to have found a place to cute my soondubu cravings close to where I live.

Fresh and authentic Korean food with friendly service. I had the mackerel and tofu soup combo. The mackerel was large and perfectly cooked and good quality fish. Tofu stew was tasty, and prepared mild for my wimpy taste buds. The spicy octopus was spicy and generous, but octopus pieces were a bit small. The panchae (?) were uniformly very nice. And the staff was eager to make the experience good. Check this place out, it's a step ahead for Korean in Riverside!

I keep coming back to this place for the owner. I mean the food is good too, but the owner is always so nice and generous. I would like to support an independent restaurant like this when I see many corporate restaurants packed with people in the area.

Some of the best Korean food I've ever had. The old man was incredibly sweet and funny. Will definitely come back. I had the Bibimbap and seafood tofu soup. And my mother had the spicy cold noodles with beef bulgolgi. The banchan is as good as the service. Come here and you will not be disappointed.

This place is my favorite! I love the Tofu House I can't get enough. I'm a big soup person so this place is heaven for my taste buds. The soups come with a assortment of appetizers and small Dishes to add to your soup. The old man is the best. He always greets me and my friends and makes us feel welcome :) I like him lol Anyway if you ever come to the Tofu House and you are a Seafood lover like me then you have to try the seafood tofu soup :)) soooo gooood! I'm craving it now

I hate to give bad reviews and rarely do unless I've had an extremely bad experience somewhere, but this place doesn't have reviews that actually speak truth. We went for the bulgogi, and found this place based on searching for that specific dish in Riverside. Since the reviews said the bulgogi was great, we chose this place. There was so much fat and grizzle in the meat, it was not even edible. We kept pulling these disgusting chunks of fat out of our mouth and some hard parts on the meat that I didn't even know what they were. That being said, the waitress was sweet and attentive, place was clean, but bulgogi was disgusting due to the amount of fat and for 3 of them it was over $55! No way was it worth it...I felt ripped off.

Food is mediocre if anything but the owner is one of the nicest in the business! However they do serve complimentary Korean pancake with the other complimentary side dishes that is quite good. Prices aren't great but aren't overpriced either- I usually order yukgaejang which has a good size portion. Can definitely get full eating here. Good spot if you need a quick Korean food fix in the area.

I normally don't write reviews; however, today's experience was extremely unpleasant. This is not our first visit and usually we enjoy our time eating here. Food are delicious but the service was horrible. Everytime when my husband and I eat here, we were served by a kind lady. For some reason, today, we were served by the old man. We're not asking much from any restaurant. We just want to be treated with respect and enjoy our time eating. But the old man did not treat my husband what a customer should be treated. I guess because my husband is Korean, the old man talked to him like he is his grandson. He was rude! He not only talked down at my husband, he also threw the dishes on our table. I really don't think we deserve this kind of poor attitude. I completely understand in Korean culture, elders can talk to younger people without using polite words. But we are the customers. We're not your children or your grandchildren. I am very disappointed at the service today. It's sad for me to say that today will be our last time eating here.

  • Itzel P.

The old man was so sweet and funny. He saw some of our group struggling with the chopsticks and seconds later he appeared with forks. I asked what bibimbap was and he immediately asked me if I was a vegetarian. Then he pointed out vegetarian options which was awesome. My friends ordered BBQ ribs and cold noodles, assorted tofu soup, seafood soup, and another meat item. They were satisfied with their choices. We had never been to a Korean BBQ and we were glad it was a great experience. Definitely coming back! Ps and he gave me a free bowl of soup because he liked my red hair :)

I think today top it off as I gave this place another opportunity after receiving horrible service by getting extremely late pieces that we lost out appetite then we receive duplicate orders at end...I had to take some time to review and tell everybody you been warned... There is a reason this place is only a 3 star now..WARNING YOU ITS NOT WORTH IT!!!!! GO TO JOES FASTER BETTER SERVICE AND FUN. ..THIS PLACE SUCKS.. NEVER AGAIN..JOES IS WORTH THE WAIT.. I SHOULD HAVE LISTEN TO MY WIFE! On top of my complaint they still charged as if all was ok .

One of the best Korean tofu houses is in Riverside, of all places. No cheaper than LA outfits, but you can taste the quality here. Lots of Asians dining at this place, which I take as a further sign of authentic food.

3 Stars for the area. My friend said, "this place moved a few places down the block," so it's not closed. One of the only tofu places that I know around the area. It is okay, seriously. Parking lot: Not filled, no wait or lines, but still a few people in the store... plenty of seats. Service: Don't really remember the first waiter/waitress, but he or she was definitely nicer than the current one. Elderly man hardly spoke English. I asked for a bowl and he gave me a huge spoon and a plate. Not very efficient and I felt as though he did not wish to be there. Ordered: Soon tofu original beef mild + beef bulgogi combo- not spicy at all, but my friend doesn't like his dishes too spicy. Beef bulgogi- Had better and not marinated. Tender and juicy sliced rib eye. Friends ordered: Soon tofu assorted (beef, shrimp, and clam) medium + pork bulgogi - The medium one is just right and it doesn't hit you until a few seconds later. My friend said that it gets hotter as you eat it. Spicy Pork bulgogi - Way better than the beef, because it was more marinated. Well-cooked and soft. Tender, juicy, and marinated BBQ pork. Soon tofu assorted (beef, shrimp, and clam) mild + Chicken bulgogi- Mild was okay, but apparently hot for the person who ordered this dish. Chicken bulgogi - Tender, sweet, and marinated chicken was pretty good. I enjoyed this dish a lot compared to the pork and beef, but personal preference.

First when I went there was a sign on the wall saying they are moving so heads up on that. Best way I can describe ok tofu is its like being half Korean (like me) and visiting you Korean grand parents who don't speak English, they are so sweet but not having a translator can be frustrating. That said the food is perfect. Just like my mom made and grossed me out with as a kid. Even the atmosphere is authentic down to the stainless steel rice bowls and kbs in the background. Before we ordered they brought out a delicious potato onion chive pancake. It was just like my mom used to make. I had the stone hot pot octopus, which if you aren't familiar is a burning hot pot of rice, octopus, spicy sauce and other yummy goodness. The grandpa told me, or showed me, that you are supposed to mix it to keep it from burning on the bottom. I also sampled my wife's "mild" pork tofu, again really excellent although if that's their mild I can't imagine how spicy the next two levels are. My wife Also had the babimba it looked awesome. Kimchee was perfect. Over all loved it. Great dinner for two( probably could have fed four) for $25. Sadly the place was totally empty for most our meal, and I shudder at the thought of how it would probably kill the old man and woman running the place if there were more than that. The customer service is a little slow, a little frustrating because of the language issues but very friendly. Be brave and check this place out.

The BBQ short ribs were good. Big portions. The stone hot pot bibimbab was not my favorite and not what I was expecting but the Mrs. ate it. All and all not bad food and clean place.

My friend bought me here. First impression is the name because like other reviews, it makes you wonder about the quality. Their chain OK Sushi is actually a few stores down. As I went in there, fairly small restaurant greeted by an old korean owner. He is very nice and very attentive to your needs. There food was considerably cheap though the small side dishes were whatevers. Don't get the tofu too spicy because the regular is already spicy for me, and I usually like it really hot. At first this place was just decent, but I went to the other tofu house down the street and made this place taste like a superstar. I'll be coming back if I wanted tofu.

This review is from a long time ago, I think summer 2012 Came at around 4:15PM and the place was empty. We ordered our some combinations and soups , reasonable price and taste after we asked of a Togo box of the leftover bulgogi pork, we got the box and we filled it up. 5 mins later the waiter came with the bill and he said that it will cost an extra 25 or 50 cents for container what the heck?!! Update 2-4-13 They are closed on MONDAYS Today we went there looking for a nice dinner and my uncle was visiting from overseas and we we wasted like a 3 gallons of gas and this place was closed. If your guys are closed on Mondays why are there tv's and lights on in there??

The first time I went to O.K. Tofu House was about three years ago. I just wanted a copy of the menu. The sweet Ahjussi who worked there didn't really speak any English, so a costumer Ahjussi had to translate. I've been there more than a few times since, and overall I really like it. I read the other reviews on Yelp, and fellow Yelpers always compare poor Riverside Korean cuisine to that of the Korean restaurants in LA, OC, etc. It is not better than the "top notch" Tofu Houses/Korean restaurants in LA, but it is good food. The owner is always very nice(he has learned a decent amount of English since;) and I love the big TV with MBC, KBS etc. The food has never been bad yet while the banchan selection isn't small, but doesn't have the steamed egg which is one of my favorites. I don't ever remember getting a whole fish or the potato dishT.T But the tasty Pork bulgogi makes up for it. The menu is rather small like the restaurant, but I'm a loyal fan regardless. The combination of good food, adorable Ahjussi owner, and convenient location makes me into a returning customer~~

This would have to be the best Korean tofu house in Riverside. The owner is very nice and friendly. Even though the service is a little slow, I appreciate the authenticity of their Korean dishes. They have recently expanded their menu. There are lots of choices - katsu, stone pot bibimpbap, naengmyun (cold noodle), yukaejang and more. I would recommend their kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) and kalbi (beef short ribs). The also serve korean veggie pancake (pajeon) as an appetizer. The banchan are generous and delicious - varies but there are usually 5-6 side dishes. At the end of your meal, they serve cold sikhye (sweet rice drink) which I always look forward to. It's very refreshing. It's my go-to place when I'm craving for Korean food.

Really good Korean food. Came in late and still served us. Usually when it's about to close the servers and workers give off an irritated body language and give you what's left of there food for the day. We were seated, ordered, and was given a full-load of side dishes and really good food. The waitress was still smiling at us even though they were about to close they didn't rush us. It's be nice to support them and keep an authentic Korean restaurant in a place where there isn't much diversity. Good portions.

I used to frequent the previous establishment (Seoul Restaurant) when I worked nearby as they had later hours during the weekends and I left work rather late. I was sad to learn that they were taken over by the current establishment. The concept is the same...there are 1, 2, and 3 item bento meals with a cheaper price for lunch. They serve green onion pancake and small servings of different side items such as kimchi and potato salad. The service is typical of any authentic Asian restaurant where the staff do not speak or understand much english. We received small cups of sweet rice water as desserts...I forget the actual name. I wish they still had the ice cream machine from the previous establishment. This place is now a bit out of my way, but it is one of my choices for lunch when I am in the area and don't have time for AYCE Korean BBQ.

Just to set the record straight... OK Tofu house moved. It used to be on Magnolia near Tyler mall but now it is in the same plaza as the Ice Rink and the police station, a bit further west but still on Magnolia. Their new location is more like a restaurant than the hole-in-the-wall that it was at its previous location. I just ate there today (April 24, 2012) and was very pleased at how authentic the food is. Lunch started with a little pa jeon (green onion pancake that was YUMMM!). I had the bibimbop + soon tooboo jigae combo for $14.00 and it was a very generous lunch portion. They brought the raw egg that you drop into the bubbling bowl of soup (a lot of places don't do that anymore ) and it was perfectly seasoned and spicy. The meal ended with a little bowl of sik hyuh (a sweet rice soup/drink). I will definitely be going back here whenever I need my Korean fix!

The service was great! The food tasted way better than I had expected. A good place to cure your craving for Korean food. It should be called, "GREAT Tofu House"!

Satisfying Korean food. Everything came standard. Maybe my expectations of Asian food in Riverside is low but this is good stuff. Pretty authentic as far as we're concerned.

they moved by the hockey rink on magnolia avenue, about 1/2 mile south of their old location. Ambiance: very clean restaurant and very clean plates, utensils, bathrooms. open large, plenty of seating. Plasma wall tv. Food: side dishes are very fresh, and plentiful with free refills. BBQ beef was good for the price, but I prefer to pay more and get the best cuts, I wish they had that option on the menu. The meats quality is better than the all you can eat korean bbq north of tyler. Vegetable Tofu soup was just decent. Service: good. Price: good, I recommend the combos.

Sadly, with a name like OK Tofu, you're setting yourself up as an easy target for some not so clever mockery on here. That aside, I think that OK Tofu surpasses their humble titling and offers good food, at a reasonable price. Their tofu soup is flavorful, and their spiciest version is really spicy (if you like that sort of thing). Granted I've been to somewhat better tofu houses in more densely populated Korean neighborhoods, but for Riverside's Soon Dobu offerings go, this is definitely the best. The Bulgogi, and kalbi are good quality, and served in large portions. I recommend for two people just getting one "combination" soup and meat, and then sharing the meat dish. Also the little banchan side dishes here are good, I hate places with salty kimchi, this place does not. They also serve the marinated banchan veggies in 1/2 gallon size containers to take home. Also, you get a whole mackerel fish and a green scallion pancake included with the meal. The service is also attentive at this restaurant, it's run by a sweet old man whose always really nice and helpful. He taught this whitie the correct way to eat bibimbap. Overall a good dining experience, I highly recommend for first timers, couples, and a night out with some friends to eat and enjoy some soju.

They moved a block down the street next to the skating rink and the Days inn. Everything is just as delicious as ever, just in a more spacious setting. They've got great late(er) hours for dinner for the area too

compared to other areas such as LA where korean food is found easily..riverside is one of the few areas where real authentic koreans food is basically non existant. therefore this place is my go to place when i NEED some korean food. The people that own it are really nice though their english is not that great. but i think that the combo where you have the main course meat, tofu soup, rice, and plenty of great side dishes for $18 (normal prices for this kind of food) is pretty good!!! go here is you crave korean food and ur suck in riverside

I know this placed closed down, but I always wondered why they named this place "OK Tofu House." Sadly, the food really was just "OK." There weren't many other Korean restaurants around, so OK Tofu House had to do. Came a couple times to get my fix of Korean food, but always tried to find a different place to go because I didn't want mediocre food.

The place is old and shady, but the service is excellent evertime i visit. I have tried almost all the items on the menu, except the goat casserole thing because i dont like goat. They buy a lot of their side dishes (as do most korean restaurants in the US), but the ones they make themselves are always the best.

Food is good, not great. The service is slow...too slow!!

Two stars: Meh. I've experienced better. My favorite part was the nice, cold shikhye at the end. (It's a sweet rice and barley drink) That's not saying much though. The food was just.. OK.

i would give this place 3.5 stars. i was really craving korean food and was too lazy to drive out to the 626 so i yelped korean food. what caught my attention was the review saying, "it's like yes plaza in rowland." i have no idea why this plaza would be comparable, but at least it got me to come here. i really enjoyed the korean style furniture and having a big screen tv playing korean channels. i actually wanted to stay there all day so i could watch some kdramas or something :P the service was good and the older korean gentlemen was kind. the food was a bit better than ok, but not the greatest i've ever had. i got the tofu and galbi special. (note: they have lunch special prices between 11~2:30?) i really appreciated the sik hae/rice drink at the end though. i haven't had that in awhile. the price is ok, comparable to 626 area. i'll definitely be back. i'm curious of how their stone pot bibimbap tastes.

Ok, this place is not a tofu house, false advertisements. I thought it was going to be all tofu. It is pretty standard korean fare. In the end we ordered a mackarel dish in spicy sauce that was tasty and vegetable spicy soup with tofu which was not tasty. The side dishes were tasty. This is a solid korean food place not far from tyler and near dragon house, so pop in, dont be afraid of the forbiding dark exterior its probably open. I love old asian people for some reason, and an old guy and a lady run the place. Its awesome. Also, BIG SCREEN OF KOREAN DRAMAS!!! How long does it take somebody to grow that kind of facial hair? Anyways, come here and try the spicy mackarel and share it with another person, because itws way too much for 1 person after all those sidedishes.

I'm not sure who or what the reviewers are talking about when they say "sweet ahjuhshi" or "excellent service." The sweet ahjuhshi with excellent service must have an evil twin who unfortunately happened to be our server when we were there. My classmate who was with me told me that she had a not-so-great service experience during her previous visit, but we decided to give it another chance (also bc out first and second choices were closed). Well, as soon as we got there, he made my friend sit next to me instead of in front of me so that we could watch the TV (we didn't even want to). Then he was unhappy that we only ordered the combo of two entrees (we're two small girls!), and gave me the weirdest look when i asked him to make the bibimbap and soondooboo vegetarian (by the look on his face, you would've thought I asked him to eat a lizard). Then he gave us a side dish and got mad when we didn't eat it right away. But we couldn't eat it right away b/c we didn't have any utensils! He finally managed to muster up some spoons and chopsticks. Then, after our food finally came out, we had to wait 10 min for him to bring us rice after we asked for it, and the food got cold. During those 10 min, he seemed to be averting our gaze. He never checked on us once, and if we hadn't gone up to the counter, he would've never given us our check. Oh, I also forgot to mention that every time he brought us anything (10 min after it was asked for), he slammed or tossed it onto the table. Despicable. I tried to be friendly with him, even til the end, but that only seemed to make him less hospitable. The food was subpar, and the service was horrible. I can deal with subpar food but not terrible service. I am only giving it one star bc Yelp won't allow me to give it none. It is safe to say that I will never come to "ok" (more like horrible) tofu again. p.s. - Oh, he also said "I love you" to my friend in her language. Creepy.

Consistently good tofu soup, good fish, well prepared rice, inconsistent side dishes, great price. Clean. Good service. And they have shoju. It's hit-and-miss in terms of the side dishes. Sometimes, you get served a pretty nasty macaroni salad. Other than that, this is an above average tofu house.

This place is the closest tofu house to my school, unfortunately. Hm I don't really recommend it, the service isn't the best and the food is just okay... plus it was unusually warm and dark in there. Not my preferred environment.

I came here with six of my friends and ordered the stone pot bimbimbap. It wasn't very cheap nor was it very good. They heated the stone pot too much so that the food actually burned. A lot of my food literally turned black. It wasn't even that I left the food on the stone too long, it just burned. The service here isn't too great either. 4 out of the 6 of my friends actually ordered tofu soup also. You would think all the tofu soups would come out at the same time or within a timely manner; however, for one of my friends, his order didn't come out for more than 10 minutes after the rest of us got our orders. Not only that, one of the girls at my table ordered the exact same thing but hers came out on time. In addition to the tofu soup being late, the server spilled a significant amount of tofu soup onto my friends' place mat. Of course spilling things is bound to happen, but the server should have apologized, which he didn't. To top off a mediocre meal with a not so cheap price tag and sub par service, one of my friends and I happened to get diarrhea afterwards. I can deal with not so good food and service, but the one thing I expect is to not get diarrhea. One star subtracted for the bad service, one for the food, and two for the diarrhea. Definitely won't be coming back here again.

I'm not even going to rate this place it's so not worth it. I'm Korean and I REALLY want to tell you guys that this is the worst place to go have soon-doo-boo (tofu soup) in Riverside. Go to Seoul restaurant instead. The only thing reasonable are the prices and some side dishes.

  • Christina L.

How can you mess up two of the simplest dishes on a korean menu?? The galbi was fatty and under cooked. The soonduboo was just BAD!! The banchan was oily and bland. There was not one redeeming thing about the place.

    (1)
  • Kimberly N.

If no stars was an option I would of picked that. The Soon Doo Boo had NOOOOO flavor. Never ever going back.

Hunch that this is a hidden drug joint or something illegal - soondubu was alright with the old man serving us - but no one was here but us for the two times i went.

    (2)
  • Nammyung L.

Good, varied banchan, but the actual soondubu was just so-so. Also offers your standard Korean fare like bulgogi and bibimbap, as well as a couple of rarer dishes like the black goat soup . This makes me wonder, since soondubu itself is already a specialty dish, and the restaurant might be trying too many things.

Not a big fan of this place. The tofu could have been better. Appetizers were pretty bad, it didnt taste fresh at all. It doesnt look like this place has much customers.

Your typical korean tofu house. Their soup was decent, bulgogi not too fatty, and a ton of kim chi dishes. The meal also comes with a scallion pancake and the fried salty fish. They have a dinner combo special where the tofu soup and meat entree is less than $15. I liked that the lone server was a friendly nice older man who was very attentive. We felt very welcomed there.

So... I seriously don't get why this place has such low ratings. I've been here twice and both times have been great! I got their bimbimbap my first visit, and the tofu soup combo (seafood soon do boo, & kalbi) my 2nd visit. Everything has tasted great to me, including the side dishes, and the service isn't bad either (even though there is only 1 server). He is nice and attentive. The shikhye at the end of the meal is very refreshing. I'll probably come back for a 3rd visit.
