Had Mothers Day lunch here with my husband & daughter. Service was really good and we didn't have a long wait for food which I expected because it was crowded for Mothers Day. Enjoyed it!

I brought my wife and both my kids to this restaurant the other night after taking the kids to play in G&G park right next door. I have to admit, I was fairly impressed when I walked in. There was a large bar with a huge assortment of liquor. The restaurant was decorated nicely and looked very clean. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We had a server that after asking what she liked on the menu, she said that the French Dip was amazing. Then she said for fun she likes to add jack cheese and mushrooms. I said hook me up. THEY SHOULD ADD IT TO THE MENU and name it after the server! It's not that creative, but it really was great. My wife and both my kids liked their meal as well. The food was delicious, the service was great and the prices were right on. It's better than other local chain restaurants and it's locally owned so spend your money here rather than at a chain!

We seriously love this place. Id say most of the food is slightly above average...but I have never had a bad burger there. Burgers is why we go to this place! We started going when I was pregnant with my second son. The owners have always been so nice, and always remember us, and stop to chat and ask how the kids are. Its exactly what we're looking for in a locally owned restaurant. Thanks Flamez..we love ya! oh..and we nicknamed it FLA- MEZ...it just sounds cooler.

Just had my third positive Flamez experience. The food is good and the service is always friendly. Prices are good, too. A great addition to the neighborhood. Sure wish they'd bring back the signature balsamic vinaigrette dressing the restaurants that preceded them in that spot served. Otherwise, two thumbs up for Flamez.

i'm so happy to say that the place is looking up! the lazy cousin appears to either be gone, or not there when I'm there. i adore the owners, super great service and they are as friendly as can be. the pizza ovens are no longer being used, but for a beer and a burger, this is a great place -- awesome kids menu too.

My wife and I were passing through town with our 3 daughters. We stumbled across Flamez while trying to avoid the normal fast food thing. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The food was better than I had expected, and plenty to take home for the traditional "midnight snack". The food was fresh. The owners were very hospitable to me and my family. They took their time when we were slow to order, the food came HOT. I would highly recommend this restaurant. It has a great family atmosphere, the food prices won't kill you, the food is great, and the owners were really cool. They seemed genuinely interested in how we enjoyed our first experience there. As far as the person that said "it wasn't my cup of tea": But was the food GOOD???? Were they courteous??? If you don't like nice looking staff, well kept and polite staff, clean facility, clean restaurants, that's on you. Rate the place on what it's supposed to be rated on, food, service, etc. See you at the tea house. Next time through Petaluma I will be stopping there for a KILLER burger.

Quick, delicious, laid-back place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner with the kids. We dine here atleast once a week with our two year old and have a great experience everytime. The waitstaff is very friendly, the food orders come quick, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend this restauraunt.

Went here when it was Flippers and didn't realize they had changed owners or the name. Upon walking in, I really couldn't tell that too much had changed with the decor. Tried the other "Flippers" that used to be JM Rosens down by the river and felt the quality of the food/service/decor/cleanliness suffered, so we haven't been back there. Glad we went back here. That being said: Went on a Friday night around 6pm. So far, this has been a great family place and my kids loved it. Crayons with a pre-printed kids menu that has games and puzzles. The kid's menu has great prices and a nice selection, from chicken strips and fries, to pasta with grilled chicken on top, grilled cheese, etc. It's in the $4 to $7 range if I recall correctly, and big portions too. We ordered deep fried calamari for an appetizer and it was excellent, nice spices to the batter. My cheeseburger was AWESOME. Excellent hamburgers here and they LOAD you on those shoestring fries...I am talking 3x what you would get at a regular place. Between me and two kids orders, we ended up taking home a styrofoam box FULL of french fries! Descent draft beer selection, Blue Moon ($4-$5 for a 16 oz), Wiedemann's, I agree with another poster, I would love to see a good dark in there like Guinness. There were a few people at the bar watching a game. Very low key, quiet, so far no rowdy types or drunken jerks disturbing your dinner. There were about 6 groups of 4+ people eating and we got checked on by two different waitpersons several times, as well as the bartender coming over to make sure my wife's margarita was to her liking....Overall a good experience, two adults, three kids for dinner with two drinks from the bar, tab came out to around $50...and we took some home. I like the burgers so much I don't know when I will try something else!

My mom just took me, my cousin, my sister, and my sister's boyfriend here. I'm mad at my mom. If my mom really loved me, she would have taken us to a place that actually makes an effort to create GOOD food. Flamez is just a business that happens to sell food. Flamez (and I was skeptical before coming here because of the "z" in the name) is comparable to Hooters, Denny's, Lion's, and Applebees. I'm actually a bit mad at my mom. I just moved back home (temporarily) from Seattle, and this is the first place she took me. I realize my frustration is petty, but food is fuel. This soulless restaurant (with poor service) provided me with little nutritional value, with a less than mediocre taste. We should have eaten better and cheaper across the lot, at Chunky's. If I hadn't drank so much yesterday, I would be at least three beers deep by now. If I had some pot, I would smoke it. I just want something to help me escape from the bland diner food of suburban sprawl.

My husband and I went there one night after working a long hard day. The service was good the decor nice great bar, my problem is with the food. They have a big pizza decoration so I thought it would be a speciality NOT. Worst pizza ever very bla. My husband got a burger and said it was good so I gave them three stars for knowing how to make a burger an no stars for making horrible pizza

I went to this place because of a Groupon. I was in a little of a hurry so I ordered quickly and then had to wait 15 minutes for our appetizer. I noticed nobody in the kitchen so I asked the waitress why the wait and she said she was waiting for another table to get ready to order then put both in at the same time which made no sense to me. The food was pretty good and when the cook wasn't busy he was walking around looking like a school yard bully. I took awhile for the check too but I would go back and it might be better.

9/27/10 - Adding an extra star as the guys have improved things greatly as predicted. I'm only holding back because of a couple of things (no wine and beer licence yet - coming soon - didn't matter last night as all we wanted was water but I know it matters to many, and a slight QA isue with cool soup that was otherwise very tasty). These things take time to work out and we shared the honest opinions. Next time I'm sure these will be sorted out so I upped a star as the food was overall pretty good given Flamez has no pretensions and focuses on serving good American food for the local area (everything went up a notch in quality very noticibly). Mike is doing a great job turning this ship around and 'm looking forwards to everything being sorted out to the standard I know these guys can produce. It's a friendly place that welcomes constructive comment so I have high hopes for a place to regularly visit in the neighborhood. ____ I'm averaging stars since I'm a local and have been in numerous times. Our first experiences when it first opened were pretty bad and the food wasn't good at all, though, the bar food and area were pretty good. We kept coming back for convenience. Two stars at this point. That said, we saw improvement as time went by but nothing spectacular until the past month or two when we chanced upon a new chef (don't know if he was there all the time and we just missed him or not), but this guy can cook. We even made a point of remarking on his efforts and, both times we dined he's kicked it up a couple of stars so now, we have to say it, definitely 3.5-4 stars without a doubt. So watch this space - if things stay on track like this, we'll be pushing this review up a star without doubt. Good luck to the new owners who took over a week or two ago, They seem like great people who are tweaking the menu and focusing on quality, The bad news is the bar licence is still pending, but the the good news is finally a breakfast place in the neighborhood, and the wood fired pizza oven is getting put back in use. We're looking forward to our next visit! No more cheesy paper flames at the counter - about time! I'm really thinking this will work out at this point - the new owners have a real focus on quality and I think we're going to see some great things. As soon as that happens, up we go a star!

My girlfriend and I went in to try this new restaurant in our neighborhood. Oh, the burgers are delicious! The service and the ambiance is warm and cozy. The menu is great - I can't wait to eat there for dinner - many dishes to choose from. The meat used for the burgers tastes superb. It reminds me of "Georges" in Walnut Creek - where I believe they grind their own meat. I wish Flamez made a choice for a burger 1/2 as thick for some of us that want a lighter lunch. However, the huge one served was scrumptious.

My hubby and I love to go here before doing our grocery shopping at G&G Market. He likes their hamburgers almost as much as Mike's at the Crossroads. (Parking is definitely easier at Flamez!) He LOVES the fries. I have tried their ribs and the Reuben. The Reuben is the best I have found so far in the West Coast, consequently it is the item I order the most. It's one of my favorite sandwiches and most places around here haven't a clue how to put one together. I also love the fries here. We were worried at first when ownership changed AGAIN but it stills seems to be serving up a decent meal at a good price.

Love going to this place because the service has never been bad, and whenever I go in for take out it only take a brief 10-15 minutes very fast and very accommodating, truly a nice restaurant.

Had breakfast for dinner . Enjoyed the company of my son, daughter in law and grandson. Flamez is the kind of restaurant that my grandson can be noisy in and no one made us feel uncomfortable. We tried to quite him but he's 20 months old and so excited to be at Flamez , there was not a lot we could do. He really enjoyed the food and I felt fine feeding it to him. Flamez food is always fresh and good.

I was wavering on my ratings, looking to downgrade. But to be fair, I went tonight to check it out firsthand before doing so. Their four stars are safe, because tonight's dinner was fantastic, the best ever. I had the "special", tilapia filet with veggies, a baked potato, and split pea soup. The wife had an omelet, with toast and hash browns. (Some people like breakfast for dinner, to each his own). All were well prepared especially the soup de jour they claim is made from scratch daily. I would not dispute that. The waitstaff was right on it, especially our server (Ian) who was most helpful and prompt. We were greeted right away, and when leaving were wished well. It was full of patrons, despite being a Wednesday and after a holiday. I love the quasi sports bar ambiance. The overall experience was pleasant and we shall be returning again as management seems to have "stepped it up" a lot. I can't wait to try their other homemade soups.

My family went to Flamez Bar and Grill today in Petaluma. The service was very poor and borderline of being rude and disrespectful. When we finally got our food, after waiting a very long wait, the buffalo wings were horrible. The spice was extremely hot to the point it burned my wives lips. When I spoke with the server, she wouldn't take back the item and referred me to the manager who was also the owner. He would not replace my item and would not take the item off of the bill. He told us that the Buffalo wings were made one way and we ordered them so we must eat them and pay for them while smirking at us. Save your time and money and do not go here. Several great places to eat in the area and this is not one of them. I filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and the county health department.

Ate there today...dissapointed !!! Buyers are great !! Had a joes special, just ok. Also we ordered the lemon chicken sandwich special it was ok. She overcharged us. Waitresses not great. I would still go for a burger, but probably get it to go. Not sure if it was new management. Smaller menu, wasn't the same.

Flamez is just a good reliable fresh down home restaurant. Great burger, steak sandwich and chicken wrap. Honestly I don't remember having a bad meal. I have had Petaluma Food Taxi deliver to me a few times and Flamez always takes care in how my food is presented and tastes. Try it you won't be disappointed.

We have eaten at Flamez a few times recently and really enjoyed the food. They make a great burger, fish & chips, and salads....and they also offer breakfast for dinner (I like that option sometimes!) Meatloaf was a little salty for my taste...but they have plenty of other choices and they do a great job on the veggies too. Nice and comfortable spot. Service is good and efficient. I am glad they are doing well.

I've NEVER had a bad experience here!! The food is always amazing and on point! The service and the owners are always super nice, friendly, and accommodating. I always look forward to eating here!!! Thank you Flamez for such a great experience every time!!

I have to chuckle at some of these reviews... those that give them a four star and then go on with high praise for every single thing about and around the place! I'm giving Flamez 5 stars.... because they have earned them! My BF and I are building a home blocks away from Flamez so early on we were looking for a place close... reasonably fast without being fast food... and reasonably priced. We found it all in Flamez! The ambiance reminds me of the old steak house look with naugahide (sp) booths each separated by either textured glass or mirror. Plenty of tables and chairs making it handicap accessible as well as inviting for large groups or families with kids. Wait staff is above and beyond friendly and not just to us as regulars. They seam to treat EVERYONE like regulars. I'd put the menu in as diversified.... a little bit of breakfast... a LOT of burgers.... salads and sandwiches. Offers a soup of the day... French onion and Beef Barley are the two I hae tried and they are GREAT. My guy found his favorite - Jordan Burger - and so sticks with that pretty regular. I have been more adventurous and have tried the JJ burger - Jordan Burger (both named after the owners kids I understand) - Swiss Burger - BLT - Chicken Wrap and a few of their soups....ALL have been great.... MY two favorites are the fish and chips and their patty melt on marble rye is to die for! I want our house finished.... but I'm going to miss when our almost daily visit to Flamez drops to once a week ;)

I've only ever ordered Flamez through Petaluma Food Taxi (great!), but it's always awesome. Some foods are to be avoided for delivery (fries tend to get soggy), but I LOVE the chili, and the BLT and Club Sandwich have been consistently amazing. I am looking forward to trying breakfast!

It's a great place for a burger, the ambience is always great and the staff are very friendly. The service is exceptional, I've never had a bad experience here. Good place to watch a football or baseball game with your friends or family. Do try the chocolate cake, it is really good, especially when it is warmed in the microwave before being served. It isn't usually served that way but you can ask for it to be warmed.

Ate here with a group of 9 on a somewhat busy evening. Was hesitant to go because of horrible experiences before but this time was great! Shay was our waitress and she is hands down one of the best servers they have. The service could not have been better! We were not an easy group, lots of drinks, appetizers, special requests and a cranky kid. She went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience. Everything was brought out timely and our kid left in a much better mood! I will be back but only to be served by her! Thank you so much for the experience

My favorite sandwich is the buffalo chicken sandwich! Omg to die for! But anything I've ever ordered was delicious! My girls love the food there as well! Wonder if they'll start making gluten free items then they'd be 100%!

I'm giving 3 stars because I have had less than great food the last 2 visits. First time I ordered a burger medium rare, and it was way way beyond well done, I let it go and didn't say anything, but at the last time there, I ordered the prime rib special, and before I could finish my plate I was sick to my stomach and had to make a hasty exit. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. I will give it one more try, but I'm a little leery after the prime rib fiasco.

Flamez is really good. All the employees are welcoming and my drinks are never empty. I ordered a Backyard BBQ Burger Medium, and was more than happy. Lisa was my waitress and let me tell you. She is the best. Definitely coming back here.

  • Mimi C.

The service is what will bring me back. Thus far, I've only been there three times for breakfast and it was fine. They are very kid oriented and eager to please. The food wasn't mind numbingly good but that said, it is just a basic breakfast. I look forward to coming back for lunch. Kim was very friendly and I hope her restaurant makes it. Good coffee.

  • Sandra S.

I go here about once a week and I have been happy with their food. Love their Pulled Pork. The BBQ sauce is great. Usually their soup is very good also. Love the atmosphere and everyone that works there are so friendly. The owners Kim and Cal are great people. I have been to both places. The one in Petaluma and Windsor and recommend both.

What a surprise being open for breakfast. Very nice staff and breakfast was great. Belgium waffles were freshly made. The food came quick and the coffee was constant. Definitely a place to try in the morning.

Well we bought the groupon, and after reading some of the bad reviews I was a bit skeptical, but let me assure you, I don't know what planet those people live on, they were WAY wrong! We came in and the owner's wife seated us personally, and answered all our questions and was extremely accomodating. The menu was HUGE, and it took us quite a while to decide. I finally settle on something I have always wanted to try, a bacon cheeseburger with grilled cheese sandwiches for buns! It was SOOOO awesome and delicious, and I posted a pic here. It was huge and I couldn't even finish the fries that came with it. My wife had creamy pesto pasta with parmesean chicken, and she loved it. Also the lemon cake for dessert she said was heavenly. The prices were slightly higher than I'd prefer, but not too much so. The service and food quality warranted 5 stars.

  • J.A. K.

Not great but very good. If you are in the area this is a solid restaurant, comfortable and with a wide choice of basic comfort food, good for a group of any size. I found the service cheerful, efficient, and very pleasant - I was by myself for lunch, and the waitstaff checked in regularly but didn't hover. Enjoyed my Jay-Jay burger, which covered all the basics: lightly salted meat, good Swiss, 2 slices of crisp thin bacon, buttered toasted bun that DID NOT fall apart (something I'm insistent on). I appreciated that the sauteed mushrooms and onions were not salted, because everything else was, and that would have made it an overload of sodium which no one needs. You can always add salt, but you can't take it out if there's too much! Yes, I have had better burgers -- but I have had many worse in the Bay Area and paid more $$ for the dubious experience. Coleslaw surprised me: creamy dressing but no vinegar. Very refreshing. Onion rings are surprisingly pricey but done well. The cheesecake was good, the decaf low-acid so no need to adulterate with cream/sugar. Overall: a good neighborhood family restaurant, not a destination but more than acceptable when you're looking for someplace nearby with tasty, not too expensive food.

Used to come here every now and then, but no more. Some reviewers say friendly, perky staff, well it may be true at times. Coming as often as I used to, I'd say they are moody. Who's the moodiest, the owners wife, hey on her bad day she won't even say hello, on a good day, just quit yapping so I can eat. Anyway, the food is just ok, the hamburger always gives me a gut ache, too greasy. And, the atmosphere gets tiring after a bit, and so does the menu. Probably a nice place neighborhood place to down a couple after the commute on 101.

I bought the groupon - and we went in for dinner last night. What a disappointment. I ordered the lemon chicken, which was about as dry and rubbery as possible, and had it with steamed veggies. You would touch the veggies and they would just crumble into a pile of mush. Icky. The BF had the Californian sandwhich, which was reheated lunch meat on bread and blah. He said the fries were OK, but weren't really warm, and by the end were soggy and the hotwings, were mushy as if they had been thawed before frying. (Glad I didn't eat them, he's not feeling so hot today after having dinner last night) Beers are on the expensive side, they are out of half the things on the menu, and the service is about as warm as the french fries. Even with the groupon we still owed $15 - so that would have been a $45 meal. So not worth it. Do yourself a favor and if near there, walk into G&G and get some of their ready made items, you will be out less $, and it will taste better. It's a great idea, but the food doesn't warrant a return visit.

I had a steak sandwich that was really good. Tender, cooked well with good seasoning. There might have been a bit too much salt, but I think that was from the grilled onions. My Server was Terrie, who very nice and helpful, nice smile. Decent but limited beer selection on tap. Would like to see more local brews. Locally owned place, comfy seating, bar if you prefer. Several widescreen tvs with sports. Homemade Carrot cake.

Caution: Cash Only Dining I took me over a year to get over the resulting experience at Flamez. We looked forward to trying this place out and heard the burgers were good. We found them OK and more pretentious than tasty. Overall dining experience was just OK. Service was a bit lacking with wait staff over adsorbed with themselves than with the customer service being provided. However, the crime occurred after we got our credit card statement. THEY INCREASED THE AMOUNT CHARGED to the credit card! We of course pulled out our receipt copy to see if they misread the numbers, but no, the numbers are clearly written. Then we considered if it was a data entry error, and knowing how the key pad is arranged, that would have been unlikely. They basically gave themselves a larger tip and hoped we wouldn't check our credit card statements. And to think we gave them the standard tip percentage despite less than standard service!?! If we ever go back, it'll be on a cash basis only.

Not a bad bar and grill. The only downfall I had of the place was their pricing, but then again it is a bar and grill in Petaluma... what else do you expect? Regardless service was really good like so good the waitress gave me four different types of hot sauce bottle when I just asked for tabasco. Very sweet and considerate. Foods were fulfilling, but then again they give you a lot. And for drinks on tap, they had a good variety of selections. As long as they had a hef on tap then I was satisfied. As for the environment it was very nice and cozy. I felt it had a good combo of a bar and restaurant look. It wasn't dirty or smelled funny so it was good. Besides that good place, just pricing could be better.

I was surprised at the pleasing ambiance of the place upon walking in. But after sitting there longer then 15 minutes, the place didn't seem as nice anymore, dare I say it began to look much less "classy" by the time we left. Ordering the food didn't take too long, that is to say, we didn't have to wait long. The food arrived promptly and without any errors in the order. I ordered the Jay Jay Burger, with mushrooms and sauteed onions. It was enjoyable, but very large, greasy and messy. But hey, it's a burger. The Fries on the side were not great. Nice texture and just the right amount of crispiness, but very plain. So plain in fact that they were hard to enjoy at all. The service/staff there were affable (great word, had to look up though =J) but not entirely welcoming. I'm beginning to think the one I paid for the food with was the son of the owner's, based upon the other reviews here on yelp. He didn't seem too pleased to be working there. Which can be a little unsettling to a good environment. I rate it on the higher end of 2 stars, because while the burger was only OK, the fries not great, the service was still good. The kind of food on the menu just wasn't really my cup of tea. I won't be returning here until I hear of a friend's experience with the food as being great. If Flamez decides to bring back their pizza on a regular basis, I will have to consider coming back, I have heard good things about their pizza.

We had been going here for a while and will not be coming back. Flamez should stop microwaving the ham steak in the Eggs Benedict. Last time, it was so chewy I couldn't even eat the ham.

Wait staff was pleasant and food arrived promptly. A sandwich, salad and beer was $14, which isn't bad. The decor is wince-inducing, with cheesy 'FLAMEZ' logos on everything, including the servers. Cheap black tees do not inspire much confidence. This place needs some character, stat. And please ditch the halogen (or whatever they are) lights - they made the place feel like a prison cafeteria with their harsh blue-white glare. The one plus I'll give the ambiance is their use of booths. It's not a total table-fest with everyone looking at everyone else. My sandwich was very dry and fell apart. It was also pretty short on turkey, to the point that I was left digging through sandwich debris looking for something to pick at other than dry bread. Asked for potato salad and got shoestring fries, not my favorite. Was never offered nor served water. My side salad came straight out of the fridge and had some iffy rye croutons. The two servers in my area looked quite busy, while two guys (owners?) hung out by where the food is dispensed and chatted with each other. I'd be willing to give the place one more chance, but I won't be wasting my time with that bone-dry club again.

My wife and I have been here 3 times now. We enjoy breakfast on Sundays right after church. The last 2 times we have had the same server (Jackie) she always greets us with a smile and is very attentive to our needs. This last time, our food showed up so quick, I swear I had not taken the fourth sip of my coffee. I had the bacon, avocado omelet. I measure these by how much stuff you get. This had plenty of both, served nice and hot, and amazingly (Jackie) remembered that I like the green tabasco. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and was pretty sure the Hollandaise was powdered. Not bad $$ but would like to se more breakfast specials of the day. The rest of the servers were also on top of the water and coffee, without asking. We are definitely going to make this a regular thing after church.

Juicy burger. Man it was REALLY good. The fries were crisp and everything was nice and hot. Went for lunch. There's a small bar and lots of TVs. The place is clean. Service is fast. I"d go back for sure!

The food is much better than it used to be and the cooks did a great job as far as timing so everything was hot,, I frickin hate cold fries. It did seem that one of the waitress had all the customers because we had empty seating all around us.... I liked that... and our waitress could take better care of us, But with a restaurant background, That was not normal and i figure she's probably the manager and is kinda greedy..... thats why only three stars, I felt bad for the crowded section.... A little.

Kind of expected a bar with a grill, but was pleasantly surprised as the florentine crepes were very good. Jessica's service was top notch, also. Will be returning!

I personally Love this place, I feel they've fused a new age diner and a full local bar perfectly. You can find items on their menu that are edgy and unique not found on the average menu, like Greek wraps, brick oven pizza etc. Why I truly Love this place is for the best PATTY MELT I've had in the last 10 years hands down just cooked to perfection. They also have a full selection of great beer on draft. Clean environment / T.V.s for sports etc. also known for their diner burgers. enjoy p.s. If you like patty melts this is the place !!!

Just had my first visit here because of a groupon. What a great find! A family friendly, neighborhood bar and grill all the way. Locally owned family business, very friendly staff from top to bottom. Breakfast all day, burgers and sandwiches, reasonable prices (for Petaluma CA) etc. etc. Burger cooked perfectly and flavorful beef, unlike some of the chains who try for the same kind of menu. Side salade was so fresh and tasty -- and not just a bunch of iceberg lettuce (pet peeve when THAT happens)! Didn't tap into the bar yet so no feedback on that front. Will definitely go back for another try (got another groupon as a gift) and fingers crossed for another terrific experience. Hubby and I have been looking for a 'go to' neighborhood joint, where our business means something to local owners and the food and service are something to look forward to!

The food was mediocre, i have cooked better meals at home. I left the place feeling sick! Even worse was the service! Unfriendly, un-sccomodating, and did I say rude! The server, a big guy, bumped in to my daughter and didn't even say sorry or anything. Do not go here!

Service was the best part. Wish we experienced good food as some of the other reviewers have. I don't know how the chef made the chicken nuggets taste...the way they did. Totally supported my daughter when she said they taste funny and wanted to stop eating them. My husband had to stop eating his cesar salad due to the chicken on it also tasting terrible, I got fish and chips and only 2 small fish strips at that. They were just okay - pretty greasy. Here we are 2 hours later and our stomachs are making terrible sounds. Hope it all stays down. We won't go back.

Friendly staff, great food (love the Jordan burger), good salads and breakfast is excellent. I love going to this local, family owned and operated restaurant. You are acknowledged as soon as you walk in and when you leave. The restaurant has a good feel (much better than when it was J. Rosen's). The staff is attentive and quick to take your order, I love going to this place.

Foods extremely oily and the service was terrible. Sat waiting for our waitress to either service us water, take our order and the check. Watched a cluster of the servers just standing around, talking to each other and joking.

Overall: 8 Service: 9 Ambiance: 8 Food: 8 Food (for the price): 8 Bacon Cheese Burger (package) : 8 Burger Meat: 9 As leftovers: N/A Zert: 7 Charity: N/A Summary: This is a better than average sports bar. Great seating, great service, GREAT burger and an excellent selection of Zerts. I look forward to trying some of their other meals. Memorable items: The service and the burger, especially the quality of the meat. The burger was excellent!!! Although the menu makes no mention of what kind of meat they use, I learned from the manager that they ground their own beef. IF YOU KNOW YOUR BURGERS YOU KNOW THAT THIS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN FRESHNESS!!!! I am VERY impressed that they do this; I am not sure if anyone else in town grinds their own meat. If you aren't familiar with what this means I will give a quick lesson. Just as with the mad-cow issue, when you buy pre-ground you are getting as many as 200+ different cows' meat in your burger. When you grind your own you are getting only ONE cow in your burger. It is hard for a supplier to pass off bad meat when you are buying single cuts and grinding your own. Another lesson: If they let you order your burger any way you want it then they trust their meat. Flamez trusts their meat and didn't even bat an eyelash at my "medium-rare" order. I could have eaten the burger patty by itself it was so juicy, tender and flavourful. I should mention that I ordered a plain old bacon cheeseburger. Not being a veggie guy but wanting to taste the full package I ate about half the burger with the veggies and then removed them. Just bacon, cheese and burger...and it was great! The only thing that could have been better is if they used a better bun. I know that it is kind of cliche these days to use a Ciabatta bun but everyone is using them because they enchance the burger so well. For someone like me who eats his burgers medium-rare, a regular bun falls apart with all the juices so something like a Ciabatta can make a huge difference. The fries were shoestring, which are my favorite and they were good but could use a little seasoning. I guess not everyone wants salt or seasoning on their fries straight. Once I salted mine they were great. Their Zert case is hard to miss, is well stocked and contains locally made and bought Zerts. It was quite funny to watch the hostess try to seat people. They would start off right behind her but after she passed the Zert case she would lose them because they would stop to salivate over all the eye catching choices. I had one of the many cheesecake selections and am definitely going back since I saw three or four other items in the Zert case that I want to try. The service was superb. They are doing the cute chick waitress thing, which is fine, but unlike a lot of places Flamez has cute waitresses that actually give great service, not just stand around and look pretty. They are well staffed and I was attended to in a timely manner. It is also nice to see the manager out on the helping out where she can and encouraging her servers. The atmosphere is quite comfortable and the seating arrangement is nice. The restaurant has several different areas. There is a full bar with big screen TVs but unless you are sitting at the bar you aren't really bothered by them. And if you have a nephew like me, who can't take his eyes off of any TV within sight of him you will appreciate that a good portion of the seating has no view of the bar or the TVs. Nice touch! The decor is pretty nice with comfortable seats and tasteful wall displays. They have the standard stuff hanging from the walls but it is not overdone. There is a section with Petaluma Fire Department stuff and a section with Route 66 stuff and a section with old ball park pictures, etc. But it isn't cluttered or obnoxious. This is not a chain but is owned by a family that owns quite a few restaurants. This would explain why the place looks familiar when you walk in. It definitely has the cool sports bar formula and I see that as a good thing. There are a lot of places like this that come in hot and heavy but fail miserably because they don't know the basics of how to make people feel at home and how to make quality food. Flamez knows what they are doing with good ambiance, good service and one hell of a burger!

Great service. Great burgers. That's the short story. I live around the corner from this place. I've been waiting for it to open for about 3 months now. It was worth the wait. Both times I've been here I've parked myself on a bar stool (of which there are only 6) and the bar staff has been super friendly and speedy with their service. In fact, tonight, I came in with the intent of watching the Warriors v Lakers game (3/15/10; Lakers 124 - Warriors 121) and not only did I get to see a great game, but it was so slow that the bartender Holly came and parked herself on the bar stool next to me and we just chatted throughout the game for about half an hour. In short, service with a smile. I'm told they're going to be having ridiculously inexpensive happy hour deals starting next week from 3-6pm. And, unlike Julian's (across the parking lot), this place has a full bar; meaning, I can get my shot of Jack and my beer. Nice. The owner, Andy, assures me he's getting the NBA channel hooked up before the playoffs so nobody will miss any important NBA playoff games. Also, Holly, one of the bartenders - assures me she's got some fun ideas planned for the patio area for when the weather gets nicer. I anticipate I'll be updating this review to 5 stars in the near future. At this point I only gave Flamez four stars because I haven't tried enough stuff on the menu. As discussed above, the one burger I had was excellent! Unlike Julian's burgers, the bun didn't fall apart. I had the Ultimate Burger (mushrooms n bacon n stuff). Pretty damn tasty. The fries were a little weak though (meaning, kinda stiff and lukewarm by the time they reached me) - possibly contributing to the 4-star rating. Also, I haven't noticed a dark beer on tap. No Guinness. That would help cement a 5-star rating. Just sayin. For what it's worth, in two visits, I already know the names of three bartenders and the owner. I like going to a place where I know their names and they know mine. Reminds me of living in places with more of a neighborhood feel, e.g., northwest Oakland, or anywhere in Chicago. Time will tell if this place turns into a real neighborhood watering hole. I remain hopeful. This place has potential.

Waitress took our drink orders, brought beers timely enough, but we waited over 15 minutes to give our orders. Mistake- we ordered food. The appetizers : mozzarella sticks are definitely the frozen store brand, nothing better. The potato skins were the smallest I have ever seen- made from those quail egg size potatoes. The meat loaf was the size of a deck of cards and just about as tasty, albeit the gallon of gravy almost disguised that and kept the salty vegetables and instant mashed potatoes looking pretty good by comparison. Fish and chips= frozen battered fish fried and skinny french fries- and not even a sprig of parsley or lemon slice on the plate. The JayJay burger, on the other hand, was done correctly and well presented. If you must stop for a beer and conversation, get a burger but don't try the sides, appetizers, or other dishes... It was not crowded mid afternoon, but the waitress confided in us that she was bored. She is untrained and unclear on the concept of good food service

I want to like Flamez, I really do. It is so much better than Flippers (the former occupant) that I am tempted to upgrade their rating but with so many good restaurants in town, their faults are glaring. We have tried Flamez three times before passing judgement, but we won't return. Let's start with the bright spot, their service. The wait staff are attentive and have good personalities although young and inexperienced. Still, its bar food so not a lot of knowledge is needed. The salads have been a big disappointment. The Cobb salad showed little imagination and tasted like something from a fast food restaurant. One problem is the serving temperature is too cold; it literally hurt my teeth to chew the lettuce. We tried again our next visit with a dinner salad but had much the same experience - cold and bland. The dinners were not awful but failed to distinguish themselves. The baby back ribs were served hot and the sauce was acceptable although the side of sauté vegetables seemed like an unnatural pairing. The broiled chicken was a bit dry and tough; the Cheeseburger so juicy that it fell apart and the BBQ beef brisket sandwich was the most interesting dish we tried although it missed the taste of a good rub. The menu item that has been consistently above average are the Buffalo Wings. They are tasty, with a sauce that provides some bite; if only they were served with bleu cheese instead of ranch! The price is low enough that one could eat here several times per week, although why one would want to is a mystery to me.

Went to the bar, order a beer and a burger. After 40 minutes I asked where my burger was. The waitress forgot to order it. There was hardly anyone in the place.I went to Pongos, had burger in five minutes and they were busy, and it was good!

Do not eat here!!!!! We decided to go there because somebody recommended the burritos. We waited over 45 minutes for our food (they said they had a lot of take-out orders). No one at our table was happy so my husband asked to talk to the manager. My husband told him he was going to leave a comment on yelp, and he started to come after my husband with fists closed and ready for a fight. Bad way to run a business, oh yeah the burritos were not very good!!! Thank goodness that the waitress stepped in front of him otherwise, we would have filed a law suit. BAD management and food
