The whole experience was fantastic. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very inviting, clean, and comfortable... It made us want to take time and enjoy each other during our meal. We ate family style and a table with others. The eggs Benedict was DELISH. Loved the micro greens. Hubby had biscuits and gravy which tasted like my dads family recipe. Will definitely return here should our travels take us back to Petaluma

Really an amazing little restaurant. Called a bakery, but with a little bit of everything. Della has amazing coffee, and some really talented baristas!

This is where we go when we need to love ourselves. Think pre-Starbucks La Boulange on organic, local, steroids. Think Europe and be delighted and transported. Great Service-Check! Atmosphere-Check! Food Quality-Check! Coffee-Check! My daughter and I lived off this meal for the day! Get the Biscuits and Gravy for sure! The Creamy Polenta with Poached Eggs came in a close second. Both were amazing! We traveled from Marin to Petaluma because we knew. There is nothing that comes close to touching this quality and creativity for breakfast that we know of in Marin. Please don't ever let Starbucks buy Della Fattoria!

This place has a great atmosphere and is decorated quite nicely. Coffee was good and the wait staff was prompt, friendly and helpful. This is not your ordinary menu, do not expect pancakes and omelets. This is very much an upscale place. Be sure you read the menu before you enter, I do not recommend bringing the kids. I had the trifecta of toast, which was egg salad toast, smoked salmon and cream cheese, and bean toast. The food was great I would definitely go back to try something different.

Della Fattoria is a bakery / bistro that came highly recommended to me by a number of friends as a great place to get some excellent farm fresh brunch. I've been there two times, once for lunch during the week, and once for brunch on the weekend. I recommend asking for a sample of their daily bread, it comes with butter and Jam and makes for a delicious start to any meal. I can highly recommend the Croque Madame, a savory grilled cheese sandwich with lots of ham, Gruyere cheese, horse radish, and a poached egg. I've tried a few other dishes, but this was my favorite. Keep in mind, that you can only get the Croque Madame during their weekend brunch. During the week, I'd opt for Della Fattoria's Tuna Melt sandwich, it is served on a pizza bread that is super delicious. There may be a wait list to get a seat on weekends, but the food is worth the wait.

This place is absolutely A M A Z I N G!!! We came here for breakfast on the 4th of July based on recommendations by locals we met. They did not steer us wrong. Given the holiday activities we were able to get seated at a communal table fairly easily. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and my husband had the chilaquiles. Both were out of this world delicious. The "bene" was served with two types of house made bread. The chilaquiles was served with a small dollop (just the right amount) of sour cream and sliced radish. Neither dishes were greasy or heavy...just simply divine. We picked up a cobbler and a lemon rosemary bread to bring home. I am definitely making a point to stop here during our drives to the wine country!

I was wowed by nearly everything at Della Fattoria. The large pastry basket was filled with delicious items - my favorite probably being the cinnamon roll. I would have liked the croissants/pain au chocolat to be a little more buttery or flaky, but it is a minor complaint. The breakfast toasts were awesome. I had the banana/honey/ricotta one, and also had some of my friend's smoked salmon one. Yum! The rosemary lemon bread was great later for sandwiches, and I want to try more of their breads. Weirdly, though, high up on the ceiling is what appears to be a menu. We got all excited about Valrhona hot chocolate but came to find out that the big menu is considered "art". A bunch of items on the menu aren't actually sold there. I found that weird and a little disappointing. The hot chocolate would have been much better with Valrhona.

Delicious salads for lunch and of course, their bread and pastries are to die for. Try the Lemon - Rosemary sourdough. The semolina, too. Oh, and the seeded wheat. YUM!!!

Everything that we had for brunch was amazing! We had the breakfast toast, yogurt (best I've ever tasted) corned beef hash and a salad. The honey lavender latte and mocha was really good! We took home some pastries and cupcakes, the coconut cupcake was absolutely delicious and their granola was excellent, not too sweet. Service was super friendly, we were seated outside and four of the servers constantly checked on us. If your're in the area, checked it out.

This is for the counter service. Don't expect someone to give service with a smile. Also, no writing can be done on the cake apparently except by a baker and they leave before the shop closes. I have bought many pastries and meals here and I love the food but service has gotten more like the snobby high end stores and less like the small town place it used to be. I hope this is just a blip.

Helllloooooo latte! We stopped here on our way up to wine country for a nice breakfast and had our minds blown. Just order the honey lavender latte..trust me. Food - CHECK! Clearly this place gets fresh items.. I ordered Stacy's Breakfast and it was so refreshing and light but sooOoooOooo flavorful. Coffee - CHECK! Like I mentioned, the latte was not only incredible, but their regular coffee was very delicious and easy to drink black. Ambiance - CHECK! Maybe 4-stars for this..there was a loud bang every once in a while, must have been a cupboard door..? Other than that it was very cute inside. Parking - Only on the street from what we could find, but downtown Petaluma wasn't too crowded on a Saturday morning. We will definitely be coming back here! Thank you to the friendly staff that we had and the quick service!

I was excited to try Della Fattoria because I heard and read the wonderful reviews. Everything looked and tasted good. Unfortunately, both my friend and I got sick after eating at this restaurant. We both the same items: biscuits and gravy, tea and dessert. Neither of us realized it was the food from the restaurant until we spoke the next evening and discovered we were both sick within hours of eating at the restaurant. Called the restaurant to report what happened and was told a manager would call be back. Never got a call back. A waste 0f $44.00. Will not be going back to this restaurant.

Wonderfully good food and the Honey Lavender Latte was by far the best latte that I have ever had... Must try!! Place is small but all staff is very friendly and helpful and all in all, I will be coming back!

Place get very busy for breakfast, so expect a wait (for both table and food). Coffee was good (big cups), but smoked salmon was just ok, cream cheese a bit watery and salmon a bit too much vinaigretty for my taste...

Della Fattoria belongs to Petaluma, a long time bakery that later added a cafe serving time-honored recipes. It belongs to the rustic countryside where one can still hear the cows moo and the chickens cluck. It is a Petaluma institution that respects and utilizes the bountiful resources of the soil and farm in our neck of the woods. Accolades about their well-known artisan breads and pastries gave the cafe a flying start. The daily crowd bears testimony to this. Fueled by good entrepreneurial skills, DF tells of the proverbial success story of a locally operated business. The Roasted Chicken Sandwich ($13.00) in DF is outstanding. Every chef or restaurant swears by a secret recipe for roasting a chicken but secret technique aside, what ultimately matters is the juicy flavorful meat. Firstly, organic chicken was used and the breast meat was moist and juicy. The sandwich was served on an amazing crusty artisan bread "campagne". It is like a countryside or rustic French bread. The accompaniments were avocado and mixed organic greens tossed in citronette that tasted very refreshing like a lemony-olive oil dressing. Continuing on with the rustic theme, the next sandwich was out-of-this-world except perhaps in Italy! The Tuna Melt Piadina ($14.00), an exquisite rustic Italian flatbread, made me realize how truly great a sandwich can be. The piadina was made from pizza dough and cooked in a cast iron skillet. Two halves of a piadina served pita style was filled with a scrumptious tuna salad made from the Pacific Northwest wild albacore. The other fillings that contributed to the flavor explosion were cheddar, pepperoncini and arugula again in a citronette dressing. After the first bite, I was hooked! The piadina was crispy on the outside edges and warm inside. The soup of the day complemented both sandwiches well. Simply called "Chunky Vegetable Chicken" soup ($8.00 a bowl), it certainly sounded like what mom would make on a cold, wet day. It was a savory bowl of chicken stock loaded with tons of veggies the most enticing being tomatoes, fennel and Swiss chard. And of course a little bacon for the extra flavor! Justifiably, this is one place I can be proud to bring out of town friends for breakfast or lunch to allow them to sample what Petaluma has to offer. Service was spot on and our server Drew was extremely helpful and cordial. Even the manager Kim took a few minutes to banter with us. Cheers!

My boyfriend made this a mini-stop on the way to our mushroom hunting on the Sonoma Coast a few weekends ago and I'm so glad he did! He had commented how he thought I would like the pastries and it was totally the right call even though I was doubtful. We got there on a Saturday around 9 am and it was pretty crowded, all the tables were full, and there was a bit of a line for coffee/pastries. No matter, we were determined. He got a coffee and after examining all of the sweet options, I decided on the banana cream. It was nothing short of amazing. The cream tasted fresh and not too sweet, crust was impeccably made, and there was an exactly right amount of banana-y taste (you know what I'm talking about). The presentation was also stunning. I wished I had got another as soon as we finished it! It gets four stars because it was pretty pricey ($8.50 for the coffee and pastry) but other than that it's all good.

Love the brunch here, especially the homemade corned beef hash. And their biscuits are heavenly! Lunchtime salads are also large, flavorful, and fantastic!

Food here is extremely fresh, like just picked from the garden fresh. I had the chicken sandwich and the chocolate mousse. The sandwich itself could do with a lot less mayo for those of us who prefer a bit less mayo. One of the slices of bread was practically soaked in mayo and topped with mayo. It was heaven for my boyfriend so some people would actually love it. I just prefer 0 mayo .. 0 sauces / dressing on all my food because I'm weird. ANYWAYS, the sandwich itself was extremely refreshing after maybe two or dollops of mayo were taken off. The lettuce tasted extremely fresh and the chicken was freshly prepared as well as the bacon. Yes, bacon and chicken topped with some lettuce placed to perfection in between two slices of bread. Perfection. THE MOUSSE - Light, soft, fluffy mousse. The bag toppled over while I drove home from Petaluma (to Milpitas) plenty of times. By the time I got home I figured it'd be all over the little box but to my surprise IT WAS STILL PERFECTLY IN ITS JAR! The whipped cream topping didn't even budge. Perfect texture. I might drive all the way back to Petaluma just for this meal again. Sidenote, ask for the restroom. Walk all the way to the back of the kitchen and up the stairs. You won't regret it. It's beautiful. (If you like older house structures.. and such).

Della Fattoria had a few offerings at their booth: chocolates, granola, breads, biscotti, locale: marin civic center farmers market(2/13/15) eats: milk chocolate bar with rosemary flavoring (7) -64% cocoa butter? taste like it -strong rosemary essence, addictive. footnotes: -sweet tasting, ingredients not listed -strong rosemary, cocoa taste, loving it!

I am an obsessive bread baker so I search for artisan bakeries on all of my road trips. Della fattoria bakery is well known among bread bakers therefore we stopped there and had lunch. My daughter had beans on toasted Rosemary Meyer lemon bread. It seemed odd, but was delicious. My husband and I had an arugula, chicken, and asparagus salad. The salads were clearly made from high quality fresh ingredients with a perfect balance. The bread sampler was semolina bread which was very good. I highly recommend this cafe.

The food is delicious! We got the egg salad with smoked salmon and olive tapenade, and the tuna sandwich. The minus star is due to how long we had to wait. 30min from the time we ordered was way too long for two things relatively pre-made. I will be going back, but ordering in advance.

I love love love Della! With a girlfriend d for lunch...at least a few times a month and it's always hard to choose! Tuna w Avo on fresh bread? Smoked salmon w pickled onions and capers? Wine or coffee? It's the closest place to Europe we have in Petaluma. Service is friendly and young. Well-trained and I'm picky. Don't come here if you're in a hurry as its all made to order. Linger. Have another coffee in a bowl. Sit at the common table. Read the paper. Love love love!!!

We only had time to stop in for a pastry at Della Fattoria, so we got the lemon meringue tart. Now, this is a dish with a high degree of difficulty -- it can easily become too sweet, or too sour, or just boring. Della Fattoria got it just right, with depth of flavor coming from caramelization of the meringue, a crumbly and slightly salty crust to balance the sweetness, and just the amount of sour tanginess in the lemon. If this is any indication of the quality of the rest of their food, it's definitely worth checking out, and I'd go there again if I'm back in Petaluma. The staff was also very friendly and at Saturday lunch time, the space had a slightly crowded but comfortable atmosphere.

Wow! Totally worth the 45 min Love the country side Drive to get there. Even despite some heavy traffic. We got there at about 10 minutes after 1 PM on Saturday and it wasn't too bad. We got a table for three right away at the communal table. Had the famous tuna melt and it was The Bomb! Wow! My son got another one to go for breakfast. Had the salted caramel macchiato and it was so so. They ran out of the famous lemon lavender bread so I was bummed. If they always run out early afternoon, why don't they bake more to meet the known demand??? Other people were disappointed too. Especially in a weekend when people make Da Drive... I don't get it. The bathroom is also very inconvenient and the public bathroom around the corner is gross. Street parking can be a challenge although we were very lucky.

I've been here many times since my first review and feel I must have been too critical to give just 4 stars. This is a 5 star establishment! Though the cafe menu is more limited than other places I visit, the quality is top notch. They are thoughtful with ingredients and the finished product is always delicious. Time after time, the service is friendly and accommodating. It doesn't matter who the servers are, they always smile and take time to interact. Jose, the Barista, is talented with his craft and also very friendly. Some favorites include piadinas, poached eggs, smoked salmon, butterhorns, croissants and the tuna melt. And, oh the bread!! The best I've ever had in all varieties. Bread alone is worth more than 5 stars!

Great little brunch spot, but only if you have the time. Girlfriend and I stopped by on Saturday morning enroute to Sonoma Valley for breakfast. Della Fattoria has Limited seating so expect a wait and possibly a table with strangers. Started with dirty chai, which essentially is a over spiced chai - not recommended. After that we got a Pastry basket which included a biscuit, Danish, and butter horn. All delicious and highly recommended. The sausage piadina was also very good (sausage, gravy, potato wrapped in a flat bread). No complaints about the taste, but the food took too long to reach our table- roughly like 20 minutes to get (my meal) the Piadina. If you have the time to sit down and have a leisurely brunch I recommend coming here.

Absolutely awful!!...walked in at 9:55 to order a breakfast sandwich, with crusty bread and a coffee...come 10:20 i received a their customary takeaway box, decided to open it as leaving to find egg, bacon and avocado scattered over a leafy salad....Upon returning to the counter, i was advised that it would be another 20 minutes to make the breakfast sandwich as everything is made 'fresh'....i was rather confused as i'd seen the 'chef' microwave the bacon and egg minutes earlier when inquisitive as to the whereabouts of my breakfast...clearly very 'fresh'......real effort to microwave egg and bacon in a microwave, not sure why they pretend its all made fresh and dissatify clients with a 25 minute wait when they could do it in 5 minutes!! Awful experience, poor service, rubbish food and ridiculous long wait....perhaps Gordon should make a visit and dimenish their over inflated opinions of themselves!!

I stopped at Della Fattoria on my very first visit to Petaluma. I'm new to the area and was so pleased to stumble upon this darling little section of town. The whole area is lovely, with tons of great shops, restaurants and boutiques. I found street parking easily and headed to Della Fattoria for some freshly baked bread. Having read the reviews here, I was expecting to find a wide variety of pastries available at Della Fattoria. On the morning I visited, there were only cookies and muffins. I wish there had been more options. I took a snickerdoodle to go. It was a bargain at $1 for a large cookie. It was good, but not like out-of-this-world great. What I really came to Della Fattoria to get was some of their meyer lemon- rosemary bread. Wow, this bread is amazing. Not only does it look gorgeous and smell so wonderfully of lemon and rosemary, but it tastes delicious. We had it with dinner and everyone commented on how good it was. I'll be back to buy more bread and hopefully sample some other items, as well.

This is the first time, and hopefully the last, that I'll be calling a place overrated. With all the five stars Della Fattoria has been bestowed, I think it's undeserved. Granted I've only been here twice, both experiences were mediocre. For two reasons-- the attitude from some of the staff and the lack of items to choose from. For a bakery, they seem to run out of a lot of pastries pretty early, so choice is limited if you're coming by for coffee and a croissant after you've slept in. Supposedly, they serve brunch. Don't order any true brunch items after 11:00 (like Eggs Benedict or French Toast), because even if you're only five minutes late, like we were, the girl at the register will glower at you if you try. Why serve "brunch" if the only items after 11:00 are salads and sandwiches? Brunch = breakfast+lunch, and typically includes classics like Eggs Benedict. I might give Della Fattoria three stars for their selection of breads and ambiance, but it's too hard to ignore their lack of hospitality, extremely limited "brunch" menu, and the handful of pastries left over after 10:30. It's a humbling and desperate feeling to be standing five persons deep and watching the last two croissants disappear before you get to the cashier, so there's nothing left to order but a cup of coffee. Unless you're stopping by to pick up one of their signature breads, I suggest passing for breakfast/brunch and heading over to the Tea Room on Western instead. Take your chances if you're coming by for coffee and pastries.

I moved to Petaluma a year ago, and this is truly one of our local gems. I have had virtually everything on the brunch menu, and have never been disappointed. I would definitely recommend arriving early, as seating is limited and they do fill up quickly. I wouldn't come if you're looking for a quick meal, but I think the wait is worth it. All the food is fresh and local, so you can feel good about what you're eating. The piadinas are my favorite! They're open for dinner on Fridays only, so be sure to make a reservation if you want to go. Again, the food is fresh, local and amazing. I always enjoy sitting at the family-style table and meeting new people and seeing what they have ordered. I also like to pop in first thing to grab a latte and a croissant to jump start my day. Try it today -- you won't be disappointed.

This place was perfect. We stopped here on our way from the airport up to Sonoma, and it was just what we were looking for - delicious brunch in an unpretentious atmosphere. I had some sort of benedict (which I always do if it is an option :), and my husband had the breakfast pizza, which sounded weird but was delicious. The best part was the hike up to the bathroom...you get to go through the kitchen and watch the chefs work their magic!

Amazing bread, great pastries, fantastic coffee too. A must stop if I'm in Petaluma. They are a little on the high side for prices, but they use a lot of organic ingredients and the price helps me curb my sweet tooth a little which is not a bad thing.

I love this place! My bf works in Petaluma and when I'm not working I tag along and come up to Petaluma for the day. I usually work out and then come here! This place is great, their food is delicious and they have a ton of baked goods that are soooo good. I also love that they have free WiFi and that they let me hang out there all day long :-) Ps - if you are looking for the bathroom, you have to go back through the kitchen and up the back stairs to the restrooms overlooking the rooftop garden. I love going to the restrooms because I get to walk through the kitchen which smells great and I get to see what they're doing back there. Love love love this place!

I walked in today to order a cake for my Boss's birthday tomorrow and was greeted by one of the employees there. I asked if I could order a cake for tomorrow afternoon nothing fancy and she said they needed 48 hours notice. Which ok I got it but the rude way she said it and not even offering any alternative to purchase something else was in my book bad customer service. Little hint to the Owners if you can't help a customer with one item offer something else it may work out to be even better like maybe a tray of cupcakes which actually my boss loves. Instead you lost a customer and maybe more by this review. And a smile would have helped even better.

We were on our way to the Lavender Fields and we decided to stop by this cute cafe in Petaluma. At first I was put off by the seemingly high prices and small portions. However, if you're not looking for a glutinous breakfast this place is perfect. Well, I should take the glutinous part back. It started off all well and good. I had a breakfast sandwich and substituted a croissant instead of the traditional sandwich bread. It was really tasty and felt pretty healthy (minus the butter in the croissant). The real damage happened when we went back to pick up some tasty treats for later. 2 meringue sandwiches, 3 cookies, 1 éclair and 1 cake later we walked out of Della Fattoria with enough sweets to last us the entire week. I have the recommend the meringue sandwich if you're there. It is two thin layers of meringue that surround a fluffy semi-sweet custard. Inside the custard are blackberries and the entire sandwich has chocolate drizzled on top of it. The best part is that the meringue is crisp at first bite but is actually pretty chewy. Great behind the counter service, great desserts and great neighborhood atmosphere.

A pretty good bakery that also serves up a fantastic brunch/lunch. We ordered a bunch of stuff off the menu and everyone (8 of us) were very happy with our food. I don't have anything specific to say about the taste except that it was good and filling. It's very low key with a bunch of communal tables. This is not a good place to bring a big stroller and kids as the tables can get really crowded (this is a popular place). You have to claim your table when you get in and then order at the counter. The service is pretty laid back so you have to self-motivate to get what you want. Just keep that in mind. There shouldn't be any long lines like in SF do that's definitely a bonus. I wouldn't come out of way to eat here but definitely stop by if you're passing through the area.

I cannot believe this! I sent an email to reserve for a Ranch Dinner and Accommodations for the night. I did it by email to elisa@dellafattoria.com as the web site says. I received no response for 3 days. I called and got Elisa and she was totally involved in "something else" and complained about "too many emails." She said that there was now a two night minimum or pay a $50 room cleaning charge. I said "I don't think so!" This may be a great place. The food may be super but these people are not worth the time to deal with. Sorry. I guess we will never know..... Tom

We have been coming here for some time now for breakfast but we did lunch today. I got a sandwich and salad, forgot the name of it tho but it was really good. A couple of my favorite items are the breakfast sandwich with proscuitto & the cinnamon toast. They also have a HUGE Ho Ho called Fatt Ho. It's kind of funny being at the counter ordering one of those. BTW, they do have WiFi.

I met a friend at this little spot about a month ago. I enjoyed the morning experience and feel that it's a hidden gem. Kathleen Webber has created a little bit of international comfort here. She mixes french chandelliers, wooden tables and old italian photos to make a comfortable feel for everyone. My business breakfast ran long and I got to see a variety of people enjoying the full breakfast menu or just pasty and coffees. Locals hang out at the great table and Kathleen has conversations with them all. I took home 2 loaves and bread and their baked goods rival ACME bakery. Try the lemon french bread - yum!

Good food, but terribly disorganized service. We came here for brunch before our yearly pumpkin picking event. The cafe was busy when we walked in on a Saturday and every seat was full. Prior to coming here, I had read some of the reviews which mentioned that the front of the house was disorganized and that the communal seating was confusing. I'm used to communal seating coming from SF and used to stalking and swooping on empty seats, so I didn't mind doing it if I had to. Since it was busy and our first time there, we walked up to the counter and asked if we seated ourselves and they said yes, you may sit anywhere you like so I assumed we needed to stalk and swoop for empty seats. We were stalking a couple who seemed like they were getting ready to leave, but a couple who were lined up behind us mentioned they had put their name on a waiting list. Confused, I walked up to the counter again and asked if we needed to put our names on a waiting list. The lady asked her coworker and she said yes, please put your name on the list. We did and figured we would just wait until they called our name. As three parties were waiting for seats, and three tables were being cleared, a couple walked through the doors, up to the counter and the hostess showed them to an empty table immediately. Confused, the three parties that had been patiently waiting for 5 minutes to be seated scrambled to the front of the counter to talk over who was next to get a table. By that time, another party had walked through the door and swooped up another table. My bf and I luckily were shown to a seat, but a food runner who didn't know what was going on showed another couple behind us some seats that were already taken (certain people in the party was briefly away from their seats) and the whole thing was embarrassing and confusing for them. The couple who was slighted, left in a huff and I don't blame them. The rest of service for us was thank goodness okay... Although, the food did take a bit longer than expected to arrive at our table. The food was good, but it's nothing worth waiting more than 5 minutes for. Bf ordered the Bennie and I had the smoked salmon. Again, standard Bennie and smoked salmon dishes, nicely prepared but nothing outstanding about it. If I were to come back and it was busy, I'd put my name on the waiting list, but swoop on the first seats I saw open since the front of the house doesn't seem to know or care what's going on anyways. Or I would just order coffee and pastries and get out of there as quickly as I can.

Wow, definitely 5 Star food, you just have to wait a little too long IMHO. Nobody makes better breads--rich moist interior with perfect crusts--or better desserts--the coconut tart and seasonal gallettes especially. The coffee is also outstanding for a place that is not a coffee shop: Great microfoam, individually brewed, and not too dark of roast as far as I can tell.

Very delicious baked goods, brunch and breakfast foods, and a charming atmosphere! As others said, the rosemary-Meyer lemon bread is a delight, as is the homemade marmalade that accompanies it! Also recommended are the zucchini goat cheese quiche and the creamy polenta with spinach and poached eggs. And, finish it off with a cupcake, why not?

So, I used to like Della Fattoria, but then they decided to switch to another coffee brand. Before they were using the Petaluma Coffee Company and now they went to Santa Rosa. Sad to say, but the coffee sucks now. Owner sits at a big table in the middle talking loudly on her phone. Then gets up and barks at the sweet girls behind the counter. No thanks or niceties. Needs an office. Food ok, but overpriced and now without good coffee to offset the $$ and office talk.... I guess I'll totter over to the other 10 wonderful breakfast eateries that Petaluma has to offer (and potentially nicer owners?)...

GOOD $13 MEDIUM SIZED SANDWICHES: I've come here many times ONLY because I think the $13 sandwiches are good and feel healthy (I don't know that they are) and the sandwiches don't taste like any sandwich anywhere else. So when you get sick of eating everywhere else, every once in a while, I splurge $13 for a sandwich here. Sandwich size like two pieces of rye bread or country hearth bread at Safeway. TERRIBLE SERVICE ALWAYS! The girls are 100% always cold, snotty/superior, rude, usually no greeting. They couldn't care less if you exist. They certainly always act like they could do without your business. SLOW SERVICE 1/2 HR WAIT: Forget trying to come here if you are on a half hour lunch break. Usually I race here on a 1 hr lunch and only have 5-10 mins to eat and rush back or I'll be late to work. NOWHERE TO SIT: Oh, and often during peak times, there aren't enough tables to find a seat. You might have to share with another family just to sit. Or sit outside in the rain.

The first place I went for coffee that morning was a complete disaster ... but I can't (and won't) review it cause my friend knows the owner. It took 10 minutes to get a coffee ... and then the possessed cup which showed no sign of leakage, dribbled on me everytime I took a sip. I became so frustrated I ended up throwing the bloody thing away. So after browsing some stores I declared it coffee-time round 2 and the need for something sweet. We came to this delightful little cafe where I got a blueberry muffin and a soy latte. Having shared a story sometime earlier of my muffin top pan, my friend had split the muffin in half with the bottom for himself and the entire top of the muffin for me. It was delicious and satisfied my sweet tooth .... Adorable place with great decor - I love the black and white posters that adorn the walls and the entire set up of the cafe is cozy and friendly. I look forward to returning next time for the delicious looking pancakes and a glass or 3 of wine.

The ambiance was homey and elegant at the same time. The waitress was very helpful. She suggested a dish that was not on the menu and it was tasty and just the right amount for me. The item was 3 toasts with different toppings... My hot drink was good too. I shouldn't have had any more, but I ordered a bear claw and it was amazingly delicious. If I had more room, I would have tried more, but I guess I will have to come back again...

Found this cute little cafe to meet my best friend up in Petaluma and since neither of us knew the area very well, this place seemed prefect for a nice coffee from a place other than used up Starbucks. Entered the restaurant and I loved its look. Coffee brewing, fresh bread being cooked in the kitchen, pastries and baked goods sitting at the glass counters. After sitting down and looking at the drink menu, the food looked too good to pass up. The waitress was nice enough to split the Turkey and Avocado sandwich into 3 pieces. Got our drinks really quickly. I got the iced chai tea... surprisingly spicy but good and hit the spot on a perfect warm, sunny day. The sandwich was out soon after and it was delicious. Sun dried tomatoes went amazingly with the flavorful turkey and ripe avocados and the was fresh and crunchy. I love places like this, small town specialty restaurants that you can sit in for hours eating, drinking, and catching up with friends. Next time I'm near Petaluma I will be stopping off here again...hopefully during the morning while I can still catch the breakfast menu.

This used to be our favorite restaurant. Within the last six months the quality has really fallen off. The meat in the sandwiches is tough, my expresso was served by the waitress in some odd little cup that turned out to be for drips-she took the wrong cup, and on our last visit the bread salad came without the promised panchetta-which we had forgotten came with until the woman next to us got the same salad and exclaimed over the meat. When the restaurant was wonderful, I could overlook the long walk through the kitchen and up the stairs to the bathrooms, but last time even the soap container was disgusing. We hope they get their concentration to detail back.

Della is divine. I give it props as one of the chic downtown businesses that has contributed to Petaluma's transformation from cow-town to the funky, yuppy P-town it's become. Yet, it's totally unpretentious. Perhaps even a little austere, as European style establishments should be. But it's just lovely... I wish I could start every day at Della. Della is ideal for a long leisurely morning spent sipping a café au lait from a giant bowl, reading the paper, and people watching between bites of an almond croissant or mini brioche. This is not your average bakery...this place is right out of the cobblestoned streets of Europe. Reminds me of my favorite café in Montreal, in fact. The bakery case is like an art gallery for gluttons and gourmands alike; everything your sweet tooth desires, presented in an irresistibly rustic fashion. They even do lunch and dinner, which I've heard nothing but raves about. I've yet to find out for myself. The location is central but not exactly charming as it's right on the busy boulevard. They've only got 2 outside tables, but inside is probably better anyway, with the nice cushioned window seats and long community table. A little pricey, yes. So stay a while and get your money's worth, soaking up the Euro-vibe and indulging in some dangerously good grub.

OK, I will join the choruses of a 4 to 5 star rating as well as being completely mystified by some of the one and two stars given by some Yelpers. The ratings, I think, should be on food quality, waitstaff, ambiance etc. Low ratings are from folks who were, in their minds, slighted by some issue where it was not to their liking. The food here is universally excellent; the lattes are HUGE and served in a soup bowl (no kidding) and are way beyond what the other coffee houses are serving around town. Plus, it is in the absolute center of downtown Petaluma with its historic buildings.

I closed my Yelp account down a few years ago but I'm reopening it, just to write a review about Della Fattoria. Stopped in here yesterday with a friend while in Petaluma. The food was okay but the service was absolutely awful. We walked in and stood there while staff walked around us, as it wasn't clear if we had to wait to be seated or we could seat ourselves. Finally we just sat ourselves. Once seated, it seemed like it took forever to get menus and to order. After we finished our meals, we sat there for over 15 minutes with our finished plates trying to catch the eye of one of the service staff. Our waiter had been MIA since the food had been dropped off and the other server was doing his best not to look in our direction. How unorganized can you be? We finally had to walk up to the counter, stand in line and ask for our bill. No apology was given. Worst service ever and this wasn't even during the prime rush hour, we arrived there after 1pm. Get it together Della Fattora! If I could give this place zero stars I would. Extremely disappointed.

Walking around downtown Petaluma and looking for a place to grab some lunch, I wandered into Della Fattoria. The restaurant was more crowded than I would have expected from the quiet street outside. I was seated at a community table and given a menu that contained a relatively few number of lunch items. I glanced around and ordered how I always do when I am at a new restaurant - scanning for the best looking plate next to me. I spotted a fluffy looking sandwich wrap and told the waitress that I wanted "what she has," nodding to the woman at the neighboring table. She told me that I wanted the tuna melt piadina. She explained that a piadina is a warm, crispy pizza sandwich. Sounded perfect to me on a cool autumn day. I had no idea what perfection I was about to receive. A few minutes later, my coffee arrived. A deep, rich aroma filled my senses and the Heath Ceramics mug warmed my hands. About 15 minutes later, well into my second cup of coffee, my piadina arrived. The sandwich was gooey and toasty. The tuna, harvested in the Pacific Northwest, balanced nicely with the sharp cheddar cheese, pepperoncini and citron sauce. Arugula, just beginning to wilt from the heat of the pizza dough, was a hearty compliment to the tuna. The highlight of this sandwich was the pizza dough; soft inside, airy center, and crispy on the outside. Each bite was a pleasure. The portion size was plentiful enough to share with a friend, but I was glad to have this sandwich all to myself. Della Fattoria also offers a muffaletta piadina at lunch as well as breakfast piadinas on the weekend. This piadina sandwich is a must have on your next visit to Downtown Petaluma. Since my first visit to Della Fattoria, I have been back on numerous occasions and tasted most of their brunch and lunch menu. The food is almost always delicious; however, the service and restaurant layout is frustrating. To get a seat and a menu, you have to fight through a usually crowded restaurant that is not very accessible for people in wheelchairs or pushing strollers. If you want to order from the bar, you also have to fight your way through the dining area. On the weekend, this is an almost impossible fight. This bad layout also makes the servers job very hard. What's worse is there never seems to be enough staff to help seated customers. Despite these frustrations, the food is delicious and all the staff is very friendly. I give Della's food five stars and the restaurant four stars overall.

Della Fattoria... let me count the ways! This place is VERY good. Sometimes the service can be hit or miss considering how crazy busy it gets inside. Just breathe and know that your food will be out momentarily. AND it'll be GOOD! try the Pot pie if you want something unique for breakfast and don't mind it a bit sloppy. Get the biscuits and gravy if you're craving mom's home cooking, and check out the lattes for a warm sip in a big cup!

Had breakfast there twice during our last weekend trip to Petaluma. What an awesome place! Love the ambiance, the food, the dishes, the pretty flower arrangements, the owner (?) Kim, and everything else about the place. We had great service both days, the food was worth waiting for. Would highly recommend the Eggs bennie and the Beans on toast.

We went for their special Friday night dinner. First, after reading about it in an email we received, we decided to email back and request a reservation. didn't hear anything back. so we called and left a message, requesting a reservation. didn't hear anything back. finally called later (about 5 mins before the first seating) and verbally made a reservation. the service was not great. we had a 'miscommunication' about whether we ordered a salad or not, but that was resolved. my guy ordered a glass of wine after our food came and it took at least 10 mins to arrive. the waitress told up that there was a 'backup' of wine glasses (meaning no clean ones?) and the wine was on the house. that was nice of them, however i wish they had come and told us that the wine might be awhile. my guy would have taken it in a water glass, for heaven's sake! BUT...be that as it may, the food just can't be beat. my guy had the ribs and they were absolutely delightful. the meat just melted in your mouth. the portions were large - we took some home. I had the ravioli and they were quite good - a bit rich for me, but delicious. i have to rave about the crab louie salad - crab on top of bibb lettuce leaves (bibb?) with crumbled hard boiled eggs and avocado, and a yummy creamy dressing. it was the best part of the meal. overall, what could have been a 5 star dinner was just a 4 due to spotty service. i need to mention that there WAS one server/bus person who kept our water glasses filled and was totally on the ball. we tipped her individually because her service was notably superior. in the future, we will think twice about taking our business here - in my opinion, i expect more for what we paid. Petaluma has a very nice selection of good quality restaurants and next time we may try somewhere else.

I feel bad for writing this. Really. I want to like Della Fattoria. I like the coffee (it takes a long time to get but, it is good). I like the pastries and the bread (yummy) I can longer come in here to sit down to enjoy a meal. The last couple of times I have come in, I say "one more chance". Sorry, you are out of chances. The servers are nice. However, the other day at lunch (on the early side) my husband and I came in and sat down, there were maybe 2 or 3 other tables at this point. I ordered the "AMAZING" BLT and he the polenta special. The BLT needs a new superlative. The bread was good. The bacon was thickly cut and cold (gross). The tomatoes were okay. The lettuce had WAY too much basalmic vinegar on it. Plus, it was $13 for a completely disappointing sandwich. I don't care where the bacon came from or if the tomatoes are heirloom tomatoes. $13 is ridiculous. I didn't eat 1/2 of it. My husbands polenta... I didn't try it but, he said it was disappointing and bland. Plus, it takes a very long time to get the food. I would say we waited 20 minutes for the plates to come out. It wasn't busy inside. I will not be returning for lunch or breakfast. I have had too many let downs. I might come in to buy the pastries and leave.

I'm from Boston but have visited Della on two separate occasions while visiting friends in the Petaluma area. I wish we had a place like this in my neck of the woods. The food is creative and AMAZING as is the coffee. They make a buttery pastry that I can't stop thinking about...

Lunch with a friend a few months ago and that sandwich is still on my mind (salivating right about now). I had the French Croque Baton with hobbs' ham, cave-aged gruyere, burgundian mustard & creme fraiche on campagne bread. It's served with green salad vinaigrette ($11). The ham & cheese combo were yum, the salad unadorned but for the dressing. A bit on the pricey side for a sandwich. Good casual service, nice cozy atmosphere & an opportunity to buy their great bread. The pastries looked excellent, though I didn't try them...this time.

Amazing food. Service can be spotty. The servers can be friendly or quite rude, depending on the day. Definitely worth a visit, breakfast and lunch are far beyond average. The espresso drinks are great. Wedge salads are delicious. Love the atmosphere.

Jesus Christ. Amazing. This is one of the very best - consistently best breakfasts I have ever had. No, I don't work for them. I have to tell you, the cappuccino is amazing...and I have had at least three of their breakfast menu items and each of them were amazing. Eat here as much as your belt line will allow. I will.

This is for the awesomeness that is the caramel bread pudding that I purchased at the Ferry Building Farmer's market last Saturday. For $4 this is hands down the best BP I've ever had - no fluff (i.e. raisins, nuts, etc), just pure delicious goodness. Made with caramel, creme and croissant, I could not have asked for better flavor or consistency (not hard, just soft and goopy- yum)! I cannot wait to return to the market to try this again!

Great brunch. No wait. Terrific service. I had the excellent Cowgirl Creamery cottage cheese! With cherry toatoes- divine! My accomplice had the biscuits and gravy. We both had the delightful watermelonade! Excellent toasts with lovely Santa Rosa plum jam. Good coffee. I miss and love CA!

It was my 1st time to visit Petaluma and daughter Laura & I were meeting for lunch & a walk around the town. We hadn't planned on anywhere particular for lunch-- just wanted to browse & try our luck. We knew there would be lots of choices. So we parked the car & within that block we came to Della Fattoria. Looked good to us! The place is warm & inviting, everything looks & smells good. That's a plus. We look over the menu and see lots of things to like. I was pretty stunned by the very high prices-- steeper than those of good shops in Berkeley and elsewhere [ even Schatts in Ukiah]. We chose the Pear and Blue cheese sandwich on Currant Walnut Bagette [$11) and the Panzanella Salad [$12} to share. The food when it arrived looked beautiful, but we both were surprised at the skimpy size... 2 very thin sandwiches pieces. The salad was mostly lettuce, and a couple croutons & small dices of tomatoes. I don't know, when I make Panzanella, it is large chunks of the tomatoes & bread... this was a lettuce salad. The pinenuts were a nice touch. Don't get me wrong... the flavors of everything were great. There just wasn't much of it for the cost. They could do better & deliver more for the money they charge. I think I'd go back and try breakfast there[ the portions sound like they'd be more adequate] and maybe pick up a loaf of their fantastic bread. Now THAT I would pay for without a quibble.

Another surprise treat we found while staying in Petaluma. The pastry basket had some great treats and the bread was as good as any we have had anywhere. Coffee was great, my wife had a yogurt fruit dish and I had poached eggs on toast. We took a loaf of pumpkin seed bread (I think) and made sandwiches the next day with it. We really liked this place. The servers were very nice and friendly, especially for a place that was quite busy and seems to do a very good business.

Super Cute, as my wife described it. Great coffee. Great pastries. The breakfast sandwich was oddly small. I had the egg salad sandwich with smoked Salmon, very tasty. My wife had the polenta with a poached egg and remarked that it was creamy and delish. My only complaint was the slow, inattentive service...very european, if that was what they were going for. I counted three counter/waiter workers, which in my opinion is not enough help for the front of house to offer sit down service for it's customers. Either hire more help up front, or have people order at the counter...no big deal. I would absolutely go back for another visit.

Brought an out of state visitor who raved about it! I always want to try new places and this was fabulous. Split the heirloom tomato Benedict and the croque Madame both were excellent. It was a little slow but the place was packed. You will not get your typical diner eggs potatoes and bacon here, much more unique style menu. Our service was great. One star off for the wait and the crowd but I would go back in a minute and recommend it also for the great location to go shopping afterward. Next time i will bring home some baked goods it was just too crowded on a Sunday and mostly sold out to do. My favorite thing was the tomatoes some of the best i have had obviously home grown. This place is a GEM, go try it!

Dropped in today for a late lunch. Ordered simple tomato, mozzarella sandwich. Thought I died and went to heaven. These are home grown, heirloom tomatoes which you can taste the sunshine when you bite into them. No messing around with the flavors. They explode and take you to nirvana. Hands down the most satisfying meal I've had in a long time. Crazy as it was so stinking simple, yet so top of the line.

Had a fantastic cappuccino here at this cafe/bakery and a great steak pressata (sp?) sandwich that came with a side of excellent green salad, while husband had a really tasty Dungeness crab salad. Good stop for foodies. We sat outside - 2 bistro tables are on the front (unexciting) sidewalk - with our dog, who received biscuits and attention from the super nice owner lady. Took two crispy thin chocolate chip cookies to go and our happiness was complete.

You don't have to live on a farm, raise chickens, bake your own bread and milk your own cows in order to eat outstanding, rustic farm fresh food. We have Della Fattoria to thank for that. At Della, meals are simple and decadent. I didn't notice they have a printed breakfast menu till it was too late but you should look for it by the cash register. They do all sorts of things with toast, yogurt & granola, and farm eggs. I love the simplicity of items like ciabatta toast w/ sweet butter, fleur de sel & Della jam or rustic Della toast with caramelized cinnamon butter. Drooling yet? For breakfast I had a divine baker's breakfast sandwich: lovely, soft, chewy made on the premises semolina bread, homemade mayo (tastes homemade too), prosciutto, and a sliced medium boiled egg. Did I mention it was a farm fresh egg? My first inclination would be to toast this sandwich and add chopped chives or thinly sliced red onion but on second thought, it was refreshing to have something simple. They have regular cupcakes ($3). I saw chocolate ones (with chocolate or vanilla frosting) and gingerbread ones. The chocolate ones also come in a mini size ($1.50). The chocolate cake part of my cupcake was moist, tender and perfect. The vanilla buttercream frosting was a bit cold and harder than I expected but tasted great anyway (not too sweet). Rustic scones, cookies, peach buns, croissants, cheesecake and breads are also available, along with wine or espresso drinks. The space is warm and inviting, shabby chic with large wooden communal tables (topped by fresh persimmons) and chandeliers. There are some smaller tables by the window and also outside. Heaven.

I had lunch here with a group and we sat at the gorgeous slab of a communal table. I was worried at first, because the bread they brought out, though crusty and good looking, didn't taste that fresh, and barely held up under ice cold butter. Luckily, my "beans on toast" (tuscan beans with chevre and a tapenade, served on two giant rustic bread toasts alongside a salad) was delicious. Everyone seemed to really enjoy his/her respective meal. The warm decor and atmosphere led to a comfortable and leisurely morning. I was under the impression that it was an expensive place - given the food and ambiance - but our tab for 5 only came to $55. I consider that an excellent value for flavorful, farm-to-table food. I will definitely be back. I haven't tried their baked goods, but they looked beautiful behind the glass. They serve excellent coffee, and usually those establishments which put thought and effort into coffee also put it into their baked goods.

The lemon rosemary bread is incredible! Love the course salt on top and the flavor is delicious. Also had a pastry with goat cheese and ricotta cheese. Very savory, so tasty. The combination of the flaky pastry, soft cheeses and herbs is fabulous. 5 stars for bread and pastry! On separate occasion had lunch here. Arrived after 1:30 and they were out of the two items I wanted. Third choice was a turkey sandwich and it was just fine but nothing extraordinary. Next time will get chicken salad sandwich, looking forward to trying it. Service was very friendly. Definately recommend!

We learned about this place because we ate at Sante the night before. Sante uses their bread and it is excellent. Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread is what they are known for and it doesn't disappoint. Plenty of other things to try and taste but all I know about, at least for now, is the bread. Very good.

These guys make some of the best breads in the bay area. Maybe even better than my other favorite: Acme. Sonoma Market carries them. Their Campagne is superb.

This place is amazing! The eggs bennie with sausage (no ham) was so delicious! And the coffee and cheese cake were to die for! Must stop here if you are in Petaluma.

Uhh what can be said about Della Fattoria other than amazing, good food, great people, good food, great people... Did I say good food and great people? This place is awesome, definite for breakfast and lunch, and they have a dinner menu that I want to try someday soon. Just had their BLT (yummy heirloom tomatoes and home made bread...)

Great place with a warm and inviting vibe. Food is well crafted although the wait is long. You must try the desserts!

Since when is it acceptable to serve coffee in bowls that are not only chipped but CRACKED all over the place? It's not the bowl I have an issue with; that's an acceptable euroweenie coffeehouse practice. This is a sanitation issue. I think it started when my friend and I went there so as not to have wasted our time (we were headed to the Heirloom Seed Bank on the corner, which is closed on Saturdays but hasn't updated its google entry to indicate such...), and I didn't include a tip on my charge receipt and the lady at the counter saw that and gave me a 'look'. Okay, two cafe au laits, two spendy pastries, but we weren't going to order breakfast, and we bussed our pastries to the table ourselves. No, you don't get a tip if I order at the counter. No, you don't get a tip if you give me a look. His coffee bowl was chipped, but it wasn't cracked six ways til Sunday. And on top of that, the coffee took ten minutes to show up. I didn't hear anyone grinding the beans. There were three servers, and I think I counted something like four food prep people. Sweet baby Jesus, it wasn't crowded either. No, I don't expect lightning service like at Peet's, but ????? Maybe they were busy wielding a mallet on my coffee bowl or something. This was more like Cafe Trieste where they make you feel like you're not worthy of the coffee, or to even park your fanny on one of their chairs. And then when the coffee shows up it's practically hurled like a frisbee if you had the temerity to seat yourself rather than wait a half hour at the counter and get glared at by the counter wench because everyone's coffee orders are backed up and the barista is having a surly morning.

I LOVE this place! I enjoy the great atmosphere- especially sitting at the long table & meeting new locals. The owners often sit there too. I've never had anything that wasn't excellent- everything is do fresh & of the best quality. If you are in the mood for something light & different- try the rancho gorgo bean purée on Rosemary/Meyer lemon toast- OMG- WOW! Also, the cappucinos are better here than any coffee shop in Petaluma! Try the homemade cherry pistacio biscoti. Enjoy!

Service is way too slow here. The cobb salad was excellent, the mac and cheese and the biscuits and gravy were average. I disliked how far and complicated it was to get to the restrooms. I really wanted to love it here since a local raved about how wonderful it was for families and the breads and pastries were to die for. I would come back and try something else but only to go.

Although, the brunch/lunch fare is always worth it, my 5 star rating is to get readers to try the bread. This is the best Italian bread in the Bay Area period. I can't imagine better Italian bread. A little pricey, but hey how much bread do you eat these days.

The service was great and the Farmwich was even better! The bread they used on the sandwich was delightfully nutty and moist. I plan on going back soon!

Yup, still really really really love this place. This is the type of neighborhood joint that I miss when I'm not in Northern California. They only serve breakfast and lunch (and dinners on Fridays). I've never had something I didn't like. Never! The key is to get stuff that has bread as a major component - it's a bakery, after all. For breakfast, I like the egg salad, baker's breakfast sandwich (6 minute egg, mayo and prosciutto I believe) and poached eggs on bread (plus a host of other things that you can pick from to go along with it, ie. bacon). For lunch, while the salads are good, I think the sandwiches are much better. My favorites are the BLT, the smoked salmon with tapenade + egg salad, and the pureed Rancho Gordo cannellini bean toast. The BLT is definitely the heartier one of the three, if that's what you're looking for. The egg salad + smoked salmon sandwich is very similar to a finger/tea sandwich - it's very dainty. The bean one is pretty filling though too, although it's more of a tartine, as it's served open faced. Their sandwiches come with side salads and it always changes. The last time I went I was lucky - the salad consisted of heirloom tomato chunks w/ lemon cucumbers and thinly sliced red onion in a lemon-y vinaigrette. It was so fresh and summery! If I had to say one thing I wish I could change about Della, I'd say that it takes a pretty long time to get your food, especially if there's a couple of you. Luckily I'm never in a hurry when I'm there so it doesn't really bother me. Plus, it's always so yummy, I think it's worth the wait. P.S. The pastries are also very good. They have cupcakes (regular sized and mini), bear claws, "snails", croissants, macarons, cookies, eclairs, tarts, etc. P.P.S. All the breads are to-die-for. My favorite is the meyer lemon rosemary one (and that's what the cannellini bean tartine is served on). I can eat half of a round in one sitting, just sliced with butter or olive oil. Delish!

two words- DISAPPOINTING SERVICE. I've been waiting awhile to try this place out and when the opportunity opened up I jumped at the chance. I walked in what seemed to be a slow day. I was told to sit myself down anywhere, but then after sitting for 10 minutes I was still not acknowledged. I finally received a menu and after a good amount of time my order was finally taken. I noticed that all the other customers were asked if they wanted dessert after their meal, but I was not asked instead I was just handed the bill before I even finished my meal (which was sad because I really wanted to try one of their desserts). I noticed that I was charged for a pot of tea, even though I ordered a cup but at that point I just wanted to get out of there. The waitress did not come to get the bill, so I had to walk up to her where she and her fellow coworker decided to just keep chatting amongst themselves. It was not until after they finished their conversation that she took my bill. DISAPPOINTING INDEED! Even though there food was good, I don't think I will be returning to this place again. I felt unwelcomed, I mean one of the waitresses was just standing their folding napkins instead of waiting on tables. This place defintely needs to work on their service.

I have a love/hate relationship with this place.... truthfully I have never sat and eaten at the restaurant so my review is strickly about the bread.... It is the BEST BREAD I have EVER had... especially the Kalamata Olive bread.... my favorite bread I have ever had... but it is CRAZY expensive for a loaf... I think the Kalmata is up to over 6 dollars a loaf!!! But they are local and nice and great food so I will keep getting the bread until I have to start taking out loans to afford it. ps. dont get the olive bread.. they might sell out and break my heart... when my mouth is set on it and they have sold out.

I'm gonna admit right off the bat that this review is not about the food, which I've had and is fine... I walked in at 11:05 am Sunday last. After a few minutes waiting in line my friend and I noticed a sign stating that they only serve breakfast until 11am. Hmf. We asked a server if there was any chance we could get in on the breakfast menu since we were so close. She looked at us like we asked her to wipe our ass and snapped "No, it's lunchtime" and walked away. At that point it was 11:08 am. 1. Ok, I get it that you have rules, but for the sake of good service and a desire to make a repeat customer out of me, be polite. If you really want to ensure that you don't leave a bad taste in my mouth go the extra mile and say something like "I'm sorry ladies, the kitchen is only serving lunch items. Can I interest you in something from our lunch menu?" That alone may have convinced me. Alas, the Gatekeeper of Proper Food Timing had her say... and so did I - we immediately stepped to Hallie's and paid them handsomely for a delightful breakfast experience. 2. Who the hell stops serving breakfast items at 11am on a Sunday?! They claim to serve brunch do they not? I'm certainly no genius, but I do know that brunch is the time between breakfast and lunch. Some establishments are crazy enough to serve brunch as late as 3pm on a weekend. This place has rules... really weird rules about what can be cooked, served and eaten during the day. Do their chickens pack up the eggs and leave at exactly 11am? What the hell? I will not be back here again for either breakfast or lunch, but thank you for introducing me to the wonderful Hallie's!

    1. Service was horrible. The cashier lady messed up my order and said sorry but she usually does not do breakfast time and got confused on our order? It is not a complicated menu. 2. The food was horrible. The pancakes were too thin, the polenta was microwaved, the egg tasted gross. Don't get the crepes either, tasted fishy?? Bread toast was okay ($3.25 for a side of toast!!!) but they drenched it with butter. I was grossed out by the food. Ate outside because it stunk inside, seems a little dirty. The tables outside are crooked and uneven with the table wobbling. 3. TOO pricey f. I will pay good $ for good food. This place was horrible..I actually went here because I yelped it and it had gotten good reviews. How can this be?? I will never come here again..A WASTE OF $$$.

I visited Della Fattoria for lunch a couple of weeks ago to celebrate birthdays while in the Bay area. What a great time we had! We were seated in a mezzanine area that has one table (there were four of us), so had some privacy and escaped the noise a bit. The service was friendly & helpful (if not speedy -- but we didn't mind that a bit). Everyone enjoyed their food. I enjoyed a butter lettuce salad, and loved braised pork on Rancho Gordo beans (the best beans in the universe!). I'd go back for sure if I visit the area again...

Sat down for a late breakfast. Carefully observed the waitress ignore us, take her time, and be really bad at her job. It wouldn't really matter if she wasn't working for tips, but its kind of counterintuitive. Somehow they made lemonade not taste good. The food was not horrible, but not any better than anything I could make on a Sunday morning. The bread they served was tasty, but if I have to fight a small battle with the staff in order to get it, I'll pass.

Awesome, yummy breakfasts. The mochas are the best. Tried the Friday night dinner for the first time and it was scallops. Amazing scallops, the best we have ever had and completely worth it. A little pricey for dinner but wow is breakfast expensive! We really can't go because of the price. Also, not a fan of sharing big tables with strangers (no offense strangers). There are a few tables for smaller parties if you are lucky enough to get one. For those two things I'd take a star away, but the homemade whipped cream on the mochas, and the lavender lemonade put it back. Worth a trip.

The woman with the brown hair and f'ed up looking perm was horribly rude after standing in line chatting away with her friend, I asked if she was standing in line and she replied "kinda" and began chatting again. After the heartfelt story she moseyed over to the register and began doing her own thing and making her friend a drink. I impatiently walked out and will never go back to that crappy family run business. The pastries aren't very good anyways, not worth standing in line anymore at an understaffed place with shitty attitude from the owners daughter.

This place was AMAZING! We came here for breakfast on Saturday before wine tasting in Napa, and it was an awesome choice! The eggs benedict was very different here (mainly because they don't use an english muffin) but it was delicious. We also had the strawberry/peach and apricot poptarts... INCREDIBLE!

I vacillate between two and three stars but the service is so bad I can't really go with three. Decor was really well done. The menu needs some serious improvement for breakfast as the options are very limited. If you don't eat meat your only choice is quiche - which was very good but still . . . Even the 4 of us who do eat meat found the options very limited. Food in general ended up being really good, but by the time we got it we were already bitter from the service. If you want to order drinks do yourself a favor and go to the counter. I doubt we will be back, there are simply too many other places to go.

Stopped in here for some lunch on the way back from Calistoga this weekend. I was so impressed with the food. I would call it "comfort food" for sure. Don't go there if you are on a diet...hehe. The breads are beautiful along with pretty much everything else I saw from the bakery. The ingrediants were fresh and everything we ordered was delicious. The ambiance is lovely. Its so cheery and cozy inside. The service was alright. It was really busy when we were there but that is totally understandable. I also liked sitting at the communal table. Really nice place. Try it.

I really liked this place the first time I went, years ago. A visit back there in recent months was not impressive. Service was rather cold. Food was OK, but for the prices they charge, I would expect that the chefs should know how to cook something as simple as a poached egg. They managed to hard boil mine. I will say that they make THE BEST and most fantastic breads, and THAT is worth visiting the place for. But for the restaurant aspect of the place, I won't be back.

It is very much worth a stop, especially if you're passing through the area for Sonoma wine tasting, Russian River camping, or Bodega Bay seafood. I'm partial to the polenta loaf, but the neat little epi (twisted baguette), pumpkin seed, and ciabatta are also great. The loaves now make their way to the Ferry Building farmers market every Saturday, and there is usually a line. The website also points out SF distribution to Bi-Rite Market, Bar Bambino, and Fifth Floor.

My fiance and I stopped in 30 minutes before the Butter & Egg cow chip throwing contest this past Saturday. We had to sign in at 9:30am and the contest started at 10 am. I had been to Della Fattoria one other time for breakfast and remembered it was tasty, so thought it would be a quick place to grab something to eat and for my fiance to get some energy to throw some poop! We walked in and were immediately greeted by one of the servers. I asked her if it was possible to get fed in less then 30 minutes and she said YES! She sat us down, recommended a couple of items that were quick to cook and were substantial for the long day ahead of us (oh those beer gardens). I had the 2 poached eggs on their fresh toasted bread with bacon on top. My fiance had the Croque Monsieur. We also had two cups of their coffee, which by the way is soooooo f'n delicious. She checked back with us in a few minutes and said they were almost ready. I asked for the check then, just so we were sure to make a run for it after we ate. Our food came out promptly and looked amazing! His was simply yummy and mine was fresh and definitely filled that empty spot in my tummy. Thank you to the server and the cooks of course, we made it just in time for him to win 2nd place in the contest! We will for sure be back.

I'm going to give these guys one star because the last three times I went there they didn't have a certain pastry I was looking for. Each time I was told "We have those all the time, I'm not sure how we ran out." Each time I went out of my way to find parking and get there just to be disappointed. Their hours are awful, their stock is lacking and some of the cakes they have in their case cannot be purchased. Very disappointing. As frustrated as I am with Della Fattoria, I will gladly admit that what they do have is really, really good. That makes it ever more frustrating when it's not available.

stopped off here after checking out a wedding photographer...Ordered a salmon, egg, and olive tapanade sandwich to go... and a lemon tart as well. Both were very well done. The bread was terrific (and I wish we had room to try there other breads which looked amazing!). The sandwich itself was a nice balance of flavors albiet a bit small for ELEVEN DOLLARS (which did include a small "salad" (greens only in a light but over-oiled vinagrette)). Lemon tart had a nice crust and good intense lemon flavor... We had to wait 20+minutes for that "to go" sandwich. So, food wise I'd say they are doing well... service/speed should be a lot faster (how long can a sandwich take to assemble?? seriously) and pastries looked good but all of this along with being a bit pricey my limited sampling makes it definitely worth another stop but not quite deserving of 4 or 5 stars thus far.

I WANT to leave this place 4 or maybe 5 stars. It was a Yelp on-the-go recommendation, the menu sounded delicious, the ambiance was nice for a late Sunday morning brunch, and it seemed like a good find. I can't rate it any higher than two stars, however, for the following reason: The SERVICE was absolutely and steadfastly HORRIBLE. I'll give a few brief examples: - The woman who greeted us asked: "Brunch for two?" and then walked off to the back of the restaurant. - Once we were seated (seating is tight, but not a complaint of mine and adds to ambiance) it took a good 10 minutes just to get someone to bring us napkins, silverware, clean the table, etc. then when she was done... - I had to jump to grab her attention as she tried to dart off without taking our drink order! She had to send someone else over, anyway. - A coffee and a latte should not take over 10 minutes to bring, especially when I have to take the latte back up to the coffee bar because it is cold. - When asking about what was good on the menu, I had the same reaction as some other fellow Yelpers... the waitress was disinterested and sounded totally bored the whole time. I didn't get a good recommendation, but was still happy with my order. The Good stuff: - The coffee was absolutely delicious, and my wife's latte was out-of-this-world! (once at appropriate temperature...) - I tried the breakfast piadina with bacon and hot sauce. Delish. My wife had the Polenta, which was equally awesome. The side salad with my breakfast dish was a little odd, but still good, and their homemade dressing was tasty. They had many other tasty dishes on the menu and I would love to go back. I can't however, unless someone from the restaurant cares enough to call or message me and assure that I won't be as severely disappointed with the service provided when attempting to give my patronage to a local business.

Tasty but pricey! For lunch, I had a Chinese chicken salad and cup of tea for $17.50 (excluding tip). The salad is mostly lettuce and cabbage. There was probably 2oz of chicken and no other protein so it does not justify the price. Flavor was good. Drop the price or add more chicken! Service was excellent but I left hungry!

The best pastries to be found in Petaluma. I love the cookies. And the biscuits, if you get them fresh, are exceptional. Come in early for the best selection. By 11 am, most of the cookies and pastries are available in limited selection only. Excellent bread. Fantastic espresso. Their breakfast and lunch are delicious and I would highly recommend trying nearly anything on their menu. Service is casual, but if you know what to expect, it's part of the charm. Get to know the people here and they will serve you faithfully and cheerfully!

Came here on a recommendation from someone whilst picking up my heritage turkeys from Slow Foods Russian River. It was a great recommendation. I hemmed and hawed over my decision and finally decided on the smoked salmon/egg salad/tapenade sandwich. It sounded a bit overstated, but I'll tell you it rocked my mouth off. The person next to me leaned over and said she wished she got that sandwich instead if not for her kids. Don't children ruin everything! Service was super nice, albeit a little slow. I had to get up to order, but I don't mind doing my own legwork to get a delicious f'ng sandwich.

My lovely wife has lived in Sonoma county for 36 years. She often heaps praise on local businesses that in my opinion are plainly mediocre. Della Fattoria bread and the bakery is a perfect example of this difference of opinion between Bambie & me. Bambie used to rave about Della Fattoria bread. I tasted several loaves from the simple baguette to the exotic multi-grain, seedy types. I though that all were too doughy, heavy, airless, & slightly greasy. I did like the flavor of the strongly flavored breads, but the mouth feel was always horrible! In Sonoma county I prefer breads from: Costeaux Bakery (Healdsburg) Artisan breads (Sonoma), or Bennett Valley bakery (Santa Rosa). But even these bakeries not as good as the bay area's: Grace Baking, Acme, Semifreddi's, La Farine.

On Saturday the service was extremely slow. It pissed me off. It took 20 mins for our freaking drinks (a regular coffee and a chamomile tea not that hard) mom ordered the polenta, said it was a bit cold. my quiche said it came with fruit, I got a nasty ass side salad. I bought their fruit tartine to-go, delicious. banana cupcake was nothing to write home about. Oh, and I didn't taste any goat cheese on my quiche. I will maybe try this place again on a weekday while all you mofos are at work. MAYBE.

I have been here twice with my two year old daughter and both times the service absolutely sucked! Forget about getting ice tea refills, a napkin or anything else for that matter. The servers just stare at you even when you are giving them the "look" and nod to come over to take your order. On a good note, the chicken salad sandwich is really fresh and delicious as is the simple mixed greens that come with the sandwich. The bread is awesome, took a loaf home and the pastries and carrot cupcake are amazing. They do not have high chairs, so not good for children and definitely not good if you are hungry and want to be served. I had to pay up at the counter because no one came back. It wasn't just our table, everyone was having to pay up front and everyone seemed annoyed at the pure neglect they received. I really do love the food though!

Brunch at Della Fattoria is a thing of beauty; it's endlessly amazing how much they can do with even basic dishes. I've never had a bowl of polenta as fantastic as theirs. The food is great, the bread is great, the pastries look great as well, but I haven't actually tried them...

Great little place, nice breakfast/brunch/bakery in one. I had the polenta with an egg on top as some suggested, great call. Toast is simply really good ciabatta or rustic farm bread, great coffee, and a nice and casual setting. Service was not great but good, the place is small and quaint.

I'm a little on the fence here. The bread in fact is wonderful. Amazing. Chewy crust, moist inside, perfectly leavened. BUT, we went in there for breakfast and they don't start serving breakfast until 9am on Sundays?! The server was real pleasant about it and offered us the pastries from the counter and the coffee we were sipping was very nice but I was disappointed that I couldn't get even a bagel at 8:15am. So, the bread is lovely but the cafe/bistro/restaurant part of it was a fail for us.

My never ending quest for the right breakfast joint led me here. My baby boy and I go out for breakfast all the time and have a couple criteria for a great spot.... Child friendly, good service, good food and lastly good price. We walked in ordered our egg breakfast and sat, he in high chair me at the communal table where guests were frivolously chatting between each other and with the staff. Break fast was excellent(you'd be surprised how many breakfast joints do a lousy under cooked egg) and the service was tops. The only point that they scored poorly on was the price . While I felt the portions were adequate, 13 dollars for two eggs, toast and and a cappuccino is slightly steep. I will definitely return even with the prices, as Della staff , food and experience were certain gems.

Here's the deal with this place. It's not starbucks or Peets. if you want to jam in and out pick up your half calf latte in 30s seconds while your car is parked in the red zone, go somewhere else, please. More over, if you're looking for a greasy omelet made with eggbeaters, then this isn't your place either. This is a very European cafe, meaning that their main focus isn't to turn and burn. It's very laid back and the food, while portions aren't huge are all top quality. It is the best coffee in Petaluma by a gigantic margin and the entire staff are extremely friendly.

My boss brings in goodies from here and they are delish! I've tried their biscotti and granola (or bird food as she likes to call it) and they are very tasty! The biscottis has a lot of flavor (i think it has pistachio in it) and arent super hard or overly crunchy. Granola is well glazed and the oats taste really fresh.

The waitress(es) are really sweet but I felt like the cashier-chick could use a lot more patience and a smile-once-in-awhile. We drove up to Petaluma for my birthday and my friend's parents used to own this so we've been wanting to check it out. The mini cupcake with chocolate frosting was seriously OUT OF THIS WORLD! I'm not really a cupcake person. In fact, I ordered it thinking I wanted cake on my birthday but that I would take a bite and hand the rest over to YP. Oh heeeeeeeeeyells no, this cupcake was ALL MINE! I don't think I've ever had a cupcake I've enjoyed so much. I was really regretting getting the mini, even! The trip-tip sandwich we shared was excellent; however the cobb salad was over-dressed to the point of verging on soggy. A shame, actually, because the flavors were all there. I loved the prosecco and YP's cabernet. Not to mention, no one looks at you funny for ordering wine for a Friday lunch. Overall, an excellent stop for lunch, but the dressing of the salad and tart cashier could stand slight improvement.

I had a croissant and a cup of tea here one morning. It was the most glorious croissant ever created. It has haunted my dreams...in a good way. My friend and I have breakfast weekly and choose between two places each time. Dellas is wonderful. The lattes are worth tasting and the food is great. I prefer the coffee here than my other choice but the food is slightly better (if pricier) over there. When it comes to fresh baked gods however- this is the place to go. Oh and it accepts credit cards so if you rarley carry cash (like me) then this is your best bet.

I met a friend at this restaurant and we had a good lunch. It was a central meeting place for us coming in from Berkeley and Santa Rosa. It may sound funny, but we had great tuna sandwiches there! The wheat bread was excellent and the tuna lightly mixed with some crunch present. Then we sampled some baked goods from the counter over coffee. Also good! We had a pleasant exchange with the neighboring table over the great deserts. With acceptable service and terrific food, I recommend this busy place for lunch. Get there early to get a table! After lunch, we walked down the street and browsed in the Seed Bank. A great few hours in Petaluma.

When you don't feel ripped off after you've paid $11 for two loaves of bread - you know that they are good loaves of bread! The baguette was the platonic ideal of a baguette and the Levain made some of the best toast I've ever had...and I've had a lot of toast. The next time I am within 50 miles of Petaluma I am stopping here and picking up a loaf of their polenta bread, it sounds amazing.

A small, popular spot but they do take reservations. Their lavender lemonade is delicious. I also really enjoyed their citrus salad, although there may have been just a splash too much dressing. My favorite of all was the Myer Lemon Rosemary bread, it made the most delicious toast.

Kind of off topic, I have a friend named Della and first thought, she'd probably deck me if I said the name of this place in her presence. So if I'm ever found beaten to death in an alley, you know where to start the investigation. =P Last year, I tried to come up here and eat with some friends on a wine tasting weekend. Didn't happen. And for some reason, I thought this was the place that made their own "twinkies", "ding dongs" etc...which well, hell yeah. That's been a thought that's been buried in the back of my brain for a long time. Anyway, a visiting friend who used to live here said that she had never been to Napa. Next morning, I woke up dreaming about ding dongs. Kismet. We arrived in Petaluma by lunchtime and there's a steady crowd coming through. First thing I spotted were all the desserts, sadly, no ding dongs. But eclairs, cupcakes, bread pudding, cakes, and these beautiful looking slices of chocolate cake. Though lunch had to come first. I got a pastrami sandwich with white cheese, and balsamic caramelized onions and a potato leek soup. My friend got a french something something, yeah, I can't remember what they called it for the life of me. My sandwich was good, her sandwich was awesome. I suppose it's the same species as a grilled cheese sandwich. It has all the right elements, bread and cheese, but several eons, nay, dare I say, millennia ahead of white bread and American cheese in evolution. Guess I do dare. The soup was delicious. I liked the fresh slivers of leek in the soup as well, crisp. No additional salt and pepper necessary. So when it was dessert time and I turned to look back at the desserts there were no more slices of that chocolate cake. I would've ripped the wings off an angel for a slice of that cake. So we just settled for almost everything else. Bread pudding. I mean come on, they bake their own awesome bread, how in the world could it possibly be bad. Well, I suppose if they used the Kalamata olive loaf... maybe... Anyway, we sat at the big table community style, and from the customers to the staff, everyone was cool Still in search of those twinkies and ding dongs oooh or a ho ho.

I had passed by this cute cafe many times to sadly find it closed, it closes early at 3 pm...so today I made it my mission to get there early with a friend for lunch. It was packed but we were able to find tables fairly easily, and the friendly busboy came quickly to clean up the messy table. I'm sure the food quality is exceptional, but I found the prices to be very high. No offense, but it's Petaluma...not the city. I ordered a b.l.t. sandwich that supposedly came with a side salad for $12. The side salad was marinated veggies in a shot glass sized container, and the sandwich was tiny. Everything was tasty, but $3 for a bottle of pellegrino? come one... The meal ended up being a total of $16, and left a lot to be desired. Place is cute, but better to go for coffee....I wouldn't recommend paying dinner prices for lunch food.

Had an all day winery tour scheduled at 10 a.m. and needed to get something in my stomach. Upon wandering into Della Fattoria, we noted how cute the interior was and thought about how nice a sit-down breakfast would be, but we needed to get down to business and fast. What could we order that wouldn't take too much time? The very helpful girls behind the counter recommended the ready-made Farmer's Breakfast sandwich - it consisted of egg, proscuitto, and mayo on sourdough bread. Sounded like an interesting combination, so I gave it a shot. Well holy shit, that sandwich was awesome! It was big, but I finished it wanting more. The iced-coffee was darn good too. Maybe it was a tad pricey - $8 for the sandwich and coffee - but it was well worth it. I only wish I'd had more time in Petaluma so I could've tried a few other options...

How can bread be this good? This place increased the bar for great bread. Here's what we ate: Toast with Cinnamon butter: Again, unexpectedly yum! Great toast, with perfectly spiced creamy butter Soup: The soup of the day was Corn with Basil Oil. I wish I could give this place 6 stars for this. Every sip of the soup made us shut our eyes, and start dreaming. We also got some bread home. It had perfectly charred crust, and tasted great after toasting it, and applying butter graciously Great friendly service Definitely worth a detour... even if its a big one.

I love the bread from Della Fattoria and we often pick it up at the farmers market in SF. Since we were in the area, we stopped by the cafe in Petaluma. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The servers were nice. However, it took a while to even get one to come over and greet us and take our order. We ordered: Ham and Cheese Croissant (in the case, ready to go) Bread Pudding (already in the pan on the counter, just needed to be cut and warmed) Salmon, cream cheese, and capers on toast (toast, spread, layer salmon and capers...) After ordering, it was almost 20 minutes before the salmon showed up, dropped at our table, no utensils or napkins, and without the other items that we ordered. We had to track down a server to receive the rest of our order. Overall, disappointed... two stars for the good baked goods, but a little overpriced, and service left something to be desired. We'll stick with pick-up at the farmers market.

My husband and I like to go around and try new breakfast places from time to time. I love our old stand by, Sam's For Play Cafe, but like to mix it up every once in a while. Feeling adventurous, we headed down to Petaluma to try Della Fattoria after reading some good reviews on here. We walked in and were immediately confused about what to do. Do we seat ourselves? Do we wait to be seated? There were customers at the counter buying pasteries, do we go up there and ask? We decided to sit at a table for 2 in front of the window and wait for a waitress to greet us. And WAIT we did!! People all around us were being served at tables and helped at the counter while we waited. Fifteen minutes later, My husband went up to the front counter and asked for menu's. Another 10 minutes went by and just as we were about to get up to leave (it had been 25 minutes before someone came to our table) the girl that handed my husband the menus came up to take our drink order. I really wanted to like this place, so we decided to stay. I ordered the regular lemonade, to which the waitress said it was "very refreshing." WRONG! Twelve minutes later it finally showed up, it tasted like sugar water with a little pulp in it. Kool-Aid would have been more refreshing than that. for $3?? Definitely not worth it. I can go buy a jug of Simply Lemonade at the grocery store for $2.50. Anyway, another few minutes went by and the waitress FINALLY took our order (the table of 4 people who sat near us came in just before us are now done with their food and paying for their bill) I ordered the blueberry pancakes and my husband ordered the Eggs Bennie. Pretty standard items, so we didn't think they'd take very long. Another 30 mins went by and our food finally arrived. Extremely small portions. We came wanting breakfast, not a snack. My husband said that his Eggs Bennie was ok, but my blueberry pancakes were waaay too sweet. We asked for our check soon after finishing our meal, and our waitress did everything but bring us our tab. I was just about to put some money down on our table and leave, when a man (whom we had not seen til this point) came up to our table and asked if everything was ok and if there was something he could do. He must have seen the very frustrated look on my face. We let him know we had asked for our check 10 mins ago and it still was not here. He went and grabbed it and was back in 20 seconds. How hard was that? Geez. What a horrible way to spend a Saturday morning. The one good thing about this experience, was on our way out of here, we stopped by the doughnut stand at the car show, spent 5 dollars and shared some tasty goodness! Wish we would have stopped there instead of Della Fattoria. Oh well!

Great, homestyle atmosphere and delicious food! I felt like I'd walked into an Italian mama's kitchen. It took awhile to get our food, but it's because everything is made fresh and from scratch. If you're on a low carb diet, put it on hold. The fresh baked breads are well worth it. I had the daily special meatball piadina and split a Fall salad. There aren't even words. So good. The big, crusty croutons and apple vinaigrette... And the pancetta. My god, the pancetta! We had a good laugh that everyone at the table licked every last morsel off their respective plates. It will be a new tradition to stop in for lunch on our way to wine tasting.

Really cute cafe! We stopped here on the way to Sonoma for breakfast. Great atmosphere. Very authentic coffee shop feel with communal tables and bright decor. (they actually serve their lattes in a bowl, which is the traditional way they're served) My boyfriend got the french toast with the homemade preserves. I opted for the proscuitto egg sandwich. Even though they forgot about me, and ended up bringing my food out after we had asked and once my boyfriend was about two thirds of the way done with his meal, I enjoyed my experience. The sandwich was a nice twist to the traditional egg salad sandwich. The egg wasn't smothered in mayo, they used olive oil instead which made it nice and light. The sandwich wasn't overly salty, and instead of salting the egg blend, all the saltiness came from the prosciutto.Yum yum. The bakery also had gourmet homemade renditions of ho hos and cupcakes, which we bought to take with us. Unfortunately due to unseen circumstances, we were unable to enjoy them. So we'll be back, eventually...

Had lunch there and the food was excellent - as was the coffee. Must have been an very off day for service - which was appalling. Will give it another try based on the good food - I think that we must have hit the place on a day where no owner or manager was present - maybe we had come just after a lunch rush ? Lots of empty dirty tables and lots of confusion as to who was our server. Hostess/counter picked up our table then forgot about us. We were able to see her standing back in the kitchen eating soup while we waited for our coffees for 25 minutes. Seriously. Eventually we stopped another server who we convinced to take our order. If we were not with an elderly person with limited mobility we would have just left. Plates never cleared. Had to ask and wait for the check. This can't be normal for a place that has such good food -so I think it was an off day. Hope that the owner/mgmt of this lovely little place will take the suggestion that the counter and wait staff need training and monitoring.

This is the best bakery in the north bay! Rustic does a nice job in Novato, but all in all, Della Fattoria delivers the best product, service, and ambiance in the area. The savory croissants such as the ham and cheese are a great way to start any day, not too mention the other breads and pastries. Yes, this place can be crowded, but for good reason! The crowds are a strong indication of a healthy business, and the fact that they do a great job!! You can also order food to go, which makes for a wonderful breakfast in bed treat for you and your significant other!!

My local in the know gal pal brought me here for lunch. I love the idea that this was a bakery many years ago and now is reincarnated as the same. The wood burning oven is also apropos. We indulged in the Garden BLT on perfect bread with a spinach side salad. I am a sucker for a great BLT and this was it. I know we are talking carbs on carbs here but the waitress brought us a bread basket with about 4 different selections pre-lunch. All the better to entice me to purchase a loaf of the olive bread to take home. I willl be heading back an sampling the rest of their lunch menu. To wash it all down, we mimiced each other and did Arnold Palmers, iced tea with their homemade lemonade. Insider: The secret ingredient in the fresh lemonade is lemon zest. Request the spinach salad or mixed greens to go with your sandwich, far tastier than the pasta salad.

Haven't had anything bad here. Last time was some sort of fancy eggs benedict, but with the bacon chopped up on top of the egg in the hollandaise. The drink of choice definitely seems to be a double-big-gulp size bowl of mocha or cappuccino. The customers mostly talk about money, or how they hate their husbands.

4.5 I am a sucker for homemade anything, but bakeries with any type of rustic euro-bread and desserts, mmmmm!!!!!!!!!! And i don't even have a sweet tooth?!@# Unfotunately I don't live near enough to stop by for a morning pastry every morning, I envy the locals. But I am lucky enough to pass by Petaluma every so often and will be back. There are so many choices of organic homemade breads, pastries and cakes, it really makes for culinary executive decisions. After looking at the menu for a minute, i decided on the creamy prosciutto and aspauragus polenta, mmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!! A few tables for outdoor seating, a community table inside and a some other small tables. Service was super friendly, they must eat well here. Overall a really warm atmosphere and probabably a great bakery cafe to start the day.

the social nature of this place is similar to italy, which can also be frustrating as the people who front italian cafe's and other counter service spots can seem to make their other customers languish as they say hi to friends and make regulars feel welcome, but it's a style of living that the server has chosen to live--social--and don't take it too personally, just eat and be happy friends--the food is real, made with love - when your plate of Polenta arrives steaming hot and so gosh darn delicious, poached eggs a bit over cooked because of the hot corn and milk, the coffee and the pastry are not half-assed they are rad and fill you up with love too - on clueless people who stumble in there, a guy sits down looks at the menu, asks for scrambled eggs, is told there are none, then asks where he can go to get some!!...grown man, do you really need scrambled eggs badly enough to ditch the super tasty dining you lucked into to go somewhere like Denny's? go ahead, man, insult the waiter

Nobody can beat their Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread. It is the best bread anywehre. Sandwiches, soups and salads are all deliciious and made with the freshest local ingredients. Don't miss out on their breakfasts though, especially the polenta with farm fresh eggs, bacon and cheese. Pure heaven!

Yum! :) Their "Baker's Breakfast Sandwiches" are the best!!! Super simple food done absolutely the right way. Great ingredients and a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Della has the best Mochas ever!! Nice smooth chocolate (not the gritty stuff u sometimes get), and home-made whipped cream. YUM! Brought many visitors here for brunch and they've all been really happy. The only criticism I've ever heard is that their bread is kinda yeast-y: be warned, if you don't like a really good bread, Della is not for you. I haven't tried dinner here yet, but have heard good things.

I have been coming here for a while to get a light snack or lunch. It has always been very good. Lately, however, we have discovered the expanded lunch and breakfast menus. It has been so good that we now have been coming in for the Friday dinners and trying to find even more excuses to drive down on the weekends. The Friday dinner specials show up on emails (sign up ;) ) and recently I had the best crab louie salad that I have ever had. All ingredients are fresh and flavorful. (This Friday one of the specials is Tamale Pie.) I also eat BLT's every chance I get and the DF one this summer was again the best ever. I had it there or as carryout about 6 times--it's that good. Lately, I have been off coffee--just bored with it, but broke down and tried the latte. Wow. Also, the kids and husband are loving the hot chocolate and the chai lattes. When we get there we often grab an order of bear claws and other pastries so they don't run out by the time we hit dessert. Sometimes we are forced to take them home, too full--poor us. I plan to look into the summer dinners on the farm. How Sonoma County perfect is that? We live in a crazy for food area as my kids in San Diego; formerly Washington DC, Philadelphia, etc can attest. They miss what we routinely have here. DF, hey update all your webpage menus so people can see what they might be missing ;) although I realize they would change often due to availability of seasonally fresh food. Still, some of your basics are stable. BTW completely agree with DJ C and Emily F.

Went here on a Sunday morning, and it was very busy. The food was great and the service was awsome. We have a dog, and sat at the outside tables. Had a breakfast sandwich on a fresh roll, which was delicious. One in our party had poached eggs on fresh greens, which was also great. And the coffee was wonderful.

This place was awesome! We came here for lunch before heading out to the wineries. If I lived closer, I would have bought some fresh loaves of their delicious breads. They were out of soup which was a bummer but we salads and sandwiches. The best sandwich was the turkey avo one, YUM!!! I wish I was eating one right now. The pastries were also to die for. If I could have, I would have stayed there and eaten more instead of going wine tasting. I will def come back here next time.

Stopped by Della Fattoria for Sunday brunch and found their food to be very tasty, though the portions were modest and fairly pricey. The blueberry pancakes were full of ripe fruit, and the bread is amazing! Our service was slow, but apologetic, and the complementary pastries really hit the spot and won us over. Definitely recommend, but don't arrive famished or on a tight schedule.

What a fun bakery and restaurant, one that reminds me of Europe. Delightful to have coffee only or add a pastry. Lunches are delicious and beautifully prepared. Glad any time I can stop in. Their baguettes are quite a treat, good to take home. They are extra large so last for a while if wrapped in a nice cotton dishtowel.

Stopped by on our way to Bodega Bay. I had the margherita pizza. It was a good filling pizza. My friends had sandwiches, and cupcakes for dessert. Everyone was really happy, even though we were worried when we saw the prices. I will try this place again the next time I am passing through. From the sounds of other reviews, I really missed out when I decided not to buy a loaf of bread.

Decided to drive up to Petaluma to have lunch at the cafe since their bread was so good at the Ferry Building farm market. Had a turkey sand and it was very good. We also enjoyed the white chocolate strawberry scone and a peach bran muffin for desert. Next day at the Ferry Building farm market we bought their Polenta bread, Seminola and a fig walnut baquette to bring back home to Southern Calif. The farm market man gave us some free cookies to enjoy on the flight home but we ate them before we got to the airport.

One star off for the glass shards in my lemonade, otherwise this is a great place to eat! I met a friend in Petaluma at the outlet mall for an afternoon and we ended up here for lunch. What a great place, the atmosphere is laid back really casual homey and fun. We both had a Chicken salad sando on they homemade bread with a salad. She got Tea and I got the fateful lemonade. our sandos arrived and we stopped talking aside from the grunts of happiness or the occasional "yum". They were so tasty and pretty big for us to finish. We wanted dessert though, we are both pregnant so we got a few assorted bits of goodness. The Oreo cookie, a peanut butter sandwich cookie and a few cupcakes, but we had to take them home b/c we were stuffed. They did forget to refill my friend's tea so I went to get her some more at the counter and sipped the last of my lemonade and began to chew on glass. Someone had probably broken a glass in the ice bin and it had not been drained and cleaned properly, but I still ended up with a mouth full of glass. The gal at the counter was horrified and gave me cupcakes to sooth the situation over. i was fine though and happy with four fancy cakes to take home. I also got a few loaves of bread to go and they were the shizzle, especially the rosemary and salt one. Wow, so good.

We eat breakfast here regularly - once a week! Their bread and other baked goodies are delicious, but I'm all about breakfast! The granola and yogurt with fruit sounds simple, but Della steps it up with locally sourced yogurt (Straus Family) and their own inhouse-made granola mix. Other favorites are the eggs with cheese on toast, and available only during the summer, the tomatos on toast with extra sharp cheese. I also love the chocolate mocha, served with shipped cream in an oversized bowl-mug. Lunch/brunch is always good. Dinner is Friday nights only.

I am editing my old review which I wrote over a year ago. Now that I have had far more experience with the place, its well worth the price. Everything is so fresh! I used to go in there for a coffee and a pastry every morning ('coffee' is not drip, its delicious Americano, the way it should be!) and the friendly staff quickly learned my name and what I liked. Their menu is seasonal, there bread is to die for, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. They always have the most beautiful cut flowers/plants! :)

I love Della! The place is just stinkin' adorable and the food is incredible! I have re-occuring dreams about their croque baton sandwich. Great atmosphere, love the food! We had breakfast and tried some of their tempting desserts and they're fantastic! I've eaten here several times and always enjoyed myself, the staff is so accommodating too. I've gone here a few times for baby showers, etc. I think my favorite meal here was in Oct 2009 and we ordered off their "belly warmer" menu. I got the meatballs and polenta--definitely the BEST I've ever had! My girlfriends and I all raved about that meal, WOW.

Perhaps the best bread in the bay area. Fighting words I know, but these handmade, wood fired loaves are really, really special. Find them at the Ferry Building farmers market, but go early before the hoards if you don't want to leave empty handed. dellafattoria.com

Cozy and warm on a cold winter day, but I like the Water Street Bistro, across the street, a bit better. Prices are a little crazy high here, however, the bread is ridiculously delicious. Sandwiches are fantastic, artisan, but again, a couple bucks too much. Cupcakes are pretty good, but nothing to write home about. It's all about the bread here. Get it to go. Or have a nice hot beverage and cookie at the huge tables. Delightful and fancy.

would have gone five 5 Star but the food service (kitchen) was way too slow for this type of place. it is sort of a cross between walk up service and sit down. the service staff was nice and accommodating but again the food from the kitchen took far too long. now the good...the food was top notch and very very good! i had an italian style sandwich called a Mufaletta Piadina hope i got the spelling right) and it was superb!!! a little salty but it was because it was loaded with old world style cured meats and cheese. i also wanted to try a cup of the pumpkin/squash soup which was soooooo good! the cup was actually a medium sized bowl and my wife was fine finishing it off to ohs and ahs! definitely worth the visit!

My husband and I found Della Frattoria using Yelp after our trip to Bodega Bay was foiled by a car accident. We were starving and in need of healthy and delicious food. We found it at Della Fattoria! I wish we had a place like this by us in the city. I had the fall salad, which was mixed greens with persimmon, pomegranates and pine nuts. It was perfectly dressed and very fresh. Even better was the creamy polenta with roasted squash and scallions. As a vegetarian who happens to be allergic to wheat, this dish was a dream come true. I had to fight my husband away, it was so good. He loved the fresh, homemade bread. He also said that the cranberry muffin was the best he ever had - it even looked like angel cake. Definitely go to Della Fattoria! We'll be making the drive to visit again soon!

I love me some bread, sour, chewy, slightly blackend crusts, moist innards, crunchy tops --- ooh so much goodness! Della has never let me down for this. I have not had the fortune to try their elegant little cakes yet, nor their cookie delights, I did however, try their "breakfast menu." I was sad, sadly disappointed. I am not one to leave food on a plate, but I took all of 4 bites of my breakfast sandwich claimed "No More!!." The bread was nice, of course --- but the rest was downhill from there. I believe my choice was called the Ranch-hand's sandwich or something to that effect, touted eggs & prosciutto --- thought, well you can't very well go wrong. But I in fact, was wrong! Salty, salty, salty. The prosciutto was salty (as prosciutto is --- but this was over the top), then there was more salt on the eggs! I felt like a horse in the dessert. There's not much on the menu at all --- if you're looking for a filling breakfast, do go somewhere else. But I would give them another try, the lunch menu looked more promising. Sorry to have anything bad to say about beloved Della at all, but there it is. I did purchase their peanut butter cookie sandwhich as a parting gift to me, and was cheered up some with that. Great staff, excellent atmosphere, LOVE love the bread --- hate, hate the breakfast offerings. 5 stars for bread, 1 for breakfast

Della Fattoria may even be the sole reason you need to venture outside of San Francisco on that 'nothing-really-planned'-weekend. Excellent bakery but also a really good cafe (need-to-try is their egg salad sandwhich but their salads are also pretty damn good). The coffee is great and is all served up by a very friendly staff. Everything that Della creates is fantastic. The bread is amazing. The food is stupendous. The decor is sooo cute and lovely to sit in while enjoying the myriad of amazing edibles they have to chose from. Friday night dinner, albeit a bit on the pricier side, is always a delight as well.

I had breakfast here. An amazing polenta with a fresh egg. The coffee was pretty awesome as well. It was as charming as a European bistro or cafe. I didn't get to try many of their baked goods, but they looked scrumptious. Since that is what they are known for, I have a feeling I would have to find a way to give them another star if I did try them.

i liked the big, family style tables, with different groups of people all sitting together. a couple next to us asked about the ring the girlfriend was wearing and that made her day. another couple sat at the other end of the table and had nothing to say to one another throughout the entire meal. awkward.

This is my favorite bakery in town. Incredible eclairs - which are hard to get. The people are super nice - breakfast is great and lunch even better.

Their claim: Mind-blowing BLT. This, I had to try. It was true. Amazing. Delovely. Delightful. They clearly use only the best ingredients. From their brown sugar that adds delightful texture to their pastries, to their sea salt from Brittany, to the berries they hand-pick to put on top of their gateau, to the heirloom tomatoes in their BLT... I could go on. I loved this place. We had lunch: the Mind-blowing BLT and the pressata steak sandwich. The latter, Bacchus would have delighted in. Delicious tender steak either cut into a dice to begin with or so tender that it fell apart, making it seem like it was diced with sour cream and avocado served on their delovely bread. And the salads that come with are enough for five stars. And their house blend of black tea almost confused my dining companion into thinking he had mistakenly gotten herbal tea, but this was no herbal tea, nor was it your run of the mill black tea. I am over the moon about this place! I can not say enough good things about this place! There were some other treats to this place, but I don't want to reveal all.

This gem of a cafe makes me want to move to Petaluma. We stopped for coffee and breakfast upon discovering the Seed Bank closed on Saturday, and had an utterly enjoyable experience. Everything we ordered was delicious. The pastries are exceptional. The coffee and tea strong and flavorful. (But next time I'm ordering the eggs benedict or eggs on polenta, which I longed for every time they were carried past us to other guests.) We found everything about this European-style cafe charming, from the friendly patrons to the vibrantly painted walls to the bathrooms past the kitchen and up two flights of stairs. I wanted to hang out in the clean kitchen with the many chefs making the most amazing looking food and wanted to taste everything, especially the stew simmering in a giant vat on the edge of the stove. I can't wait to go back, and will now be happy to find any excuse to make the drive to Petaluma, as long as it includes a visit to Della Fattoria.

i would have to say this is, by far, the best cafe/bakery i have every been to. it blows bouchon right out of the water. their farm-fresh poached eggs rustic toasted wheat is truly the best breakfast i have ever experienced. the lattes are made with PERFECTLY brewed espresso, topped with a layer of beautifully steamed foam. a great place for a casual date, meet with the girlfriends, or simply bring a book and enjoy the ambiance! the only bad thing i can say about this place.. that they are not open on mondays!

Everything I've had here is SPECIAL. Fresh ingredients... they take enormous pride in what they do. The coffee, breakfast sandwiches and loaves of Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread are my favorites. I've only had dinner once. They were serving one menu item for dinner that weeknight. I think it was pizza and soup...Anyway it was divine. Della has a unique ambiance and yes, it's pricey "for a bakery"- but it's totally worth it! So many places come and go in downtown Petaluma. I will gladly pay more if it means they stay in business, lest another Starbucks tries to take it's place.

SO it goes without saying that the breads at this place rock. We had brunch here a couple weekends ago and my boyfriend loved his pannini and I thought my bean soup was off the chain too. I am another lover of their Valhrona mocha and if you haven't tried it then you are truly missing out on a culinary creation par none. Their service was NOT good but I was willing to forgive it since they are dog friendly and my pooch was allowed to sup with us outside. They are definitely on the pricier side but to compensate provide you with unbelieveably fresh and homemade food. Go for the bread and mochas is my advice.

Best local bread bakery in Petaluma. Meyer lemon rosemary bread the best ever! Great place for lunch also, a little crowded though.

If you can appreciate yummy bread baked in a wood-fired oven in a barn - go here. They also sell delcious croissants and danish, plus adorable cupcakes ( I will always have a weakness for a well-made cupcake). Add to all this the fact that their service is sincerely friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming - I was actually told this place has been a bakery, in one form or another, for about a hundred years - literally. So there must be some good karma floating around - don't miss it, even if it just gives you a reason to buy your morning coffee somewhere besides the bucks.

I do love the food, bread, and pastries at Della Fattoria, but I have to remove a star due to the recent service I've received there. We go for breakfast once or twice a week, and service has been super spotty recently. I wish they would go back to counter service as opposed to table service - breakfast frequently becomes an hour and half affair for lattes and breakfast sandwiches. Sometimes this is fine, if we're in the mood for a lazy morning. But, sometimes we want to get on with our day and it's hard to get someone to help you.

I used to hunt down the Ciabatta. It used to be available at a supermaket in Napa, the Ferry Building farmer's market, the restaurant at Auberge Du Soleil, Whole Foods in SF, but FINALLY they opened a retail store. I live on the peninsula but I actually drive over 1 hour to go to this place. The bread here is TO DIE FOR. I just had the tomato soup (only available when tomatoes are in season). I swear, this would be one of the things I would like to eat a few mintues before I die. Go there and treat yourself to the best of what the Bay Area has to offer. If you wife ensists on going to the Premium Outlet Stores, drop her off and wait here. This is what makes the Bay Area special. Good job Della!!

I have lived in Petaluma for 3 years and I just visited the store front of Della Fattoria for the first time the other week. Amazing. This is one of those places that you wished you lived in. In fact, if it was not frowned upon in civil society, I would probably head down here in my bathrobe each morning for breakfast and a coffee before work. As it stands, irregular, but wonderful visits will suffice on a periodic basis.

I found this place through Yelp and was really pleased. The breads are amazing. The breakfast and lunch menu is limited so I was left wanting more choices, but the croque baton sandwich with green salad I had was fabulous. It's pricey for the atmosphere; casual cafe and $15 for a sandwich. But, check this place out if you like fresh high quality ingredients and carbs!

I discovered Della when I first moved to Petaluma in Jan 2007. It was a cozy and community friendly place that helped me unwind from the 8 year - 100 hour per week - career I had left in LA. I would show up several times a week around 10:00a looking forward to a perfectly pressed cup of coffee (americano or latte's only friends - no drip here!), a freshly baked pastry or toast and homemade jam. Or lunch time for the most delish cheese sandwich (and more coffee). If I had to meet someone, Della. If I needed to read, Della. If I wanted to write or draw or just be around people, Della. As important the environment was to me... it was the simple foods and most delicious recipes that kept me coming back. To this day, I can never go wrong with one of Della's sandwiches or salads. Most of the vegis come right from the family farm, as well as the fresh cut flowers that cover the counters and tables. While i found myself being called to Della on most of my days - I did on occasion come out on a Friday night to enjoy a special wine pouring and set dinner. It was a great time, I'll never forget. I love living in northern California, and Della was part of my initiation to the area. You wont find me there as often these days (I had to start working again!!) but when I do go - I am never disappointed. Thanks, Elisa, Vanessa, Mickey, and Michael for making those days AWESOME! See you soon!

I love the Friday night dinners. Great atmosphere and even better food. Try the communal table. I still think fondly of a fava bean risotto I had here last spring. Unpretentious, lovely food. I only wish they were closer to my house!

Haven't sampled enough of the bread to have a profound opinion, but what I can say is the coffee is tasty and the seeded wheat with poached eggs, bacon, and cheese is damn good. The cinnamon roll isn't too bad either. This is gonna be a regular stop for me. Next mission, which I choose to accept, is trying one of their sandwiches.

As good as it gets! If you like relatively simple fare this is it. The fresh baked breads are insanely great. Soups, salads, dessert, coffees, wow. A bit loud, and slightly pricey by Petaluma standards, but I do not think you could go wrong here. In my experience very very nice counter staff too.

Quite arguably among the finest bread west of Hudson River, and south of St. Lawrence. However, the bread goes stale fast, so be sure to eat it on the same day as it comes out of the oven. Heavenly!!!

I love the ambiance and the coffee! I also love that it is right downtown. The reason I give it 3 stars is bc of the service. The owner is terrific but if she is not there---things really slip. I have had the staff literally glare at me. It is uncomfortable. I still go here bc I do love the ambiance and Petaluma does not have anything else like it---but I think I would go here a lot more if the people were a bit nicer.

I cook professionally, and I have never been moved to write a critical review of a eating establishment, despite frequently going out to eat . I know good service can be difficult, but my experience reached beyond disappointing. I tried to arrange for 15 people to have a baby shower at the bakery. I called numerous times . Each time they assured me that a reservation was not a problem but I needed to talk to the manager who would call me back. I called over seven times in the span of two weeks and the manager did not call back. When I finally got in touch with the manager she took my name and phone number again ( each time they took my name ,phone number etc.) as well as my pre- order of desserts. She assured me she had the reservation and the order and as soon as we arrived we would be seated and served. When we arrived we were shined on by the wait staff , and the table we were arranged to have was taken leaving us nowhere to sit. After some time those patrons left and we were seated. I needed to communicate numerous times with wait staff to be served and they did not have all the items I ordered over the phone. They were not apologetic and seemed to not understand why it would be a big deal to not have the cake I ordered, or a cake to substitute. To make matters worse they seemed to think I had already paid making the situation awkward. It was too bad I really wanted to love this place! The desserts were good but I can never go back . I was embarrassed that I choose this place for my get together, because the service was sooo bad..

This is a review for the Della Fattoria Cafe, not their breads. (I do think their breads are awesome!) The menu is limited offering a couple salads, soup, and sandwiches for lunch. The weekend brunch menu looks more promising. I prefered their hot sandwiches. Their prices are really high for what you get ($10+ for a sandwich, 5 green beans and 3 cherry tomatoes). But if you value eating very fresh produce fresh from the farms, then you'll get your money's worth. The chocolate croissant seemed and tasted day old. The cupcakes, which I unfortunately had high hopes for, were dense and on the dry side, not my cup of tea. The buttercream frosting was ok, not sweet, fresh and creamy, but nothing special. They also make custom cakes here (as written up in San Francisco Magazine) . I didn't get to try the cube cakes, but if they're anything like the cupcakes, I'm not devasted. Ambiance: Nice and airy. Painted red to rouse your appetite (hopefully not too much since the servings are small). 2 large communal tables and smaller tables as well as outdoor seating. Lunchtime during the week was not too crowded. Service: Order at the counter, they serve and clean up. Service was ok --nothing to complain about and nothing to specifically praise. My favorite thing about this place is their Valrhona Mochas. What a good use of that mildy acidic chocolate. Their mochas are definitely a must try if you're up in Petaluma. Then stop by Divine Delights for some yummy petits fours.

What a cute place to come for brunch! Della Fattoria is one of the many food gems in down town Petaluma. I went for the first time for breakfast with my mom and had a salted caramel macchiato which was delicious and served with a little piece of biscotti, and a plus: many of the coffee drinks were served in a big bowl-like mug which is so fun! I had the breakfast sandwich which I highly recommend because they bake their own breads and the egg was cooked perfectly! Service was great as well! I will definitely be coming back soon!

This is our go to in downtown Petaluma for brunch and lunch. I feel so lucky to live here to enjoy this spot. I have honestly never had a bad meal here. The waiting time has improved over the past year (seems they have more help) - the food, of course, never disappoints. I am partial to the Rancho Gordo beans on toast, any of the salads like the Spring Panzanella, the breakfast sandwiches, and the egg, tapenade and smoked salmon sandwich. The lavender lemonade is out of this world! As are all the coffees and teas! We pick up the Meyer Lemon Rosemary round to bring home with meals. So unique and delicious. It's not to be missed!

Was passing through town this past weekend stopped in for breakfast before hitting the road in my travels. We were seated quickly at a community eating table decorated with an assortment of beautiful fresh flowers. Placed an order for the poached eggs with corned beef as well as an order for my young children for the breakfast toast assortment with jam. All were delicious ! I believe the establishment is farm to table and ingredients tasted fresh. Loved the homemade jam. Customers at the community table were friendly engaging in conversation with strangers. (Refreshing) I ordered a mocha latte which was beyond good and served in bowls. Just the energy boost I needed to drive for hours on my road trip;) I would definitely stop in again if in town.

Brunch in Petaluma. We came through strictly for a quick but delicious breakfast before hitting wine country. They were busy and we were seated quickly (thankfully!). The menu is short and limited. We first ordered the dirty chai : 2 extra shots of espresso. Sounds amazing right? And the also offer almond or soy milk! 2 problems : drinks came after our pastries which we ordered second. And the chai is strong! Very spicy! Bread pastry basket includes a biscuit and 2 croissants/Danishes. $9. We got a raspberry cream cheese Danish, and cinnamon butter horn : all amazing!! Which explains a lot. People were in and out solely for the pastries only. After finishing we waited and waited for our food (slow kitchen). Next I got the ham and cheese breakfast sandwich and it was very good. Yolk to my egg was about medium - well done. Should have been gooey and running. And a little expensive for 1 sandwich... Overall slow service. Decent food. One bathroom on the third floor through the kitchen in back. 3.5 stars but I'll round up to 4.

We just moved from Danville to Petaluma & have just had a wonderful lunch at Della Fattoria. The Chinese chicken salad was fresh & delicious. We were greeted warmly by Hanna & she was so cheerful it made our first visit even nicer. Everyone who works there is very attentive & friendly. We will be back for sure to bring home the amazing breads & goodies!

I really love these people. They are helpful and gracious, and their coffee & bread amazing! The dishes and sandwiches are good too! But there is something missing. I believe it's an underlining insipidness. Like the chicken sandwich, $13, add some garlic, or onion, something! But their ok. SD

Try as I might, but I cannot resist the urge to go to Della Fattoria and stuff my face with WAY too much food! Whenever we are in Petaluma, this is our favorite place to go for breakfast. I always order the same: the breakfast pastry basket and the toast trio. The breakfast pastry basket is great for people who want to try a bit of everything but can't be bothered to decide, as is the toast trio (one toast each with egg salad, beans, and smoked salmon). Are we noticing a theme here? Anyway, the pain au chocolat, with bittersweet dark chocolate, and the scone, served with homemade berry jam, were the most wonderful, delectable pastries I've ever had. I lived in France for two years, across from a patisserie, so I ought to know. The staff is friendly and efficient, the cafe is bright and airy, and there is currently some fabulous photomontage-Italian proverb type artwork on display. Highly recommended and deserving of the hype!

I've now been to Della Fattoria 3 times. The first time it was really good- great food and decent service. The second time the service was TERRIBLE- we waited 45 minutes for our meal to be served. It arrived, without the main ingredient on the salad that I had ordered. They told me that they were out of the main ingredient, but hadn't let me know when I ordered it and didn't propose a substitute. They did acquiese to provide me with something additional to put on the salad in place of the substitute. The 3rd time I went I ordered something, but with a substitution for an item that I don't care for. They told me that they didn't really do substitutions, that the kitchen wasn't set up for that. The food I did end up eating each time was good, but the whole experience left MUCH to be desired. Needless to say, I won't be going back.

Such a treasure! Anytime I have the chance to pop in this place and get a bite to eat, I take it! Breakfast is simple here. Nothing drenched in grease. Classic and clean. I always go for "Stacey's Breakfast". It is a breakfast salad. Greens with bacon, avocado and an egg tossed lightly in some mild sort of citrus dressing and hot sauce. So nice and just enough! But the very best meal this place has to offer starts sometime in June I believe. Their BLT! They don't carry tomatoes for ANY plate unless it is in season. In fact, I'm sure everything is seasonal. Do yourself a favor and get the BLT.

Came here for a breakfast sandwich while visiting family in Petaluma. Excellent, was told that the bread is hand made. Was a little expensive $8 for a breakfast sandwich, but the quality was out of this wold and was worth the price. Hand a poached egg, cheese, ham, and an outstanding bun. Was one of best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while. Other than that, we didn't have anything else. So hard to judge on anything else, but from the looks of the place, and the happy faces of customers I have a feeling everything is going to be good. Nice clean and chill establishment. Will look forward to coming back soon.

Is it wrong to give a business five whole stars just for one sandwich? Because the BLT with avocado and cheddar that I had here yesterday was so perfect that anything less would be insulting. Seriously, never in my nearly five decades on this earth have I had a more delicious BLT. Hell, I'm putting this mofo on my list of top three most delicious sandwiches EVER. I can't stop thinking about it. Thick Bacon that was somehow both chewy and crispy, creamy avocado, greens, heirloom tomatoes, slightly sharp cheddar, and Della's own mayo, all on toasted house-baked bread sturdy enough to stand up to all those fillings. And the little salad that accompanied this sandwich among sandwiches was no slouch. It looked deceptively simple...just greens with a vinaigrette. But the greens were exceptionally tender and fresh and the dressing had a wonderfully lemony flavor. It was one of those side salads so good that you wish you could order a giant platter of it. *sigh* Oh, I should also mention that the kids working here are all very nice and helpful, and they seem to know many of their customers by name. We were there during the lull between lunch and dinner so there weren't too many tables occupied, but we watched a steady stream of folks coming in for baked goods. Back to that sandwich, though. The only reason I didn't order another one to go for later was because I knew I'd be back next weekend. Until then, I'll just stare at this: yelp.com/biz_photos/dell… P.S. About half of the dining area is set up to be conducive to communal dining. P.P.S. The bathroom is essentially on the roof, so be prepared to climb.

Amazing!! The food, bread and desserts here are all the best in the bay area. The bread is the best I've had - EVER! Highly recommend the biscuits and gravy with poached eggs. Also you can't go wrong with the beans on toast which comes on their signature meyer lemon rosemary bread. The service here is always so friendly - it's a busy little place and nothing ruffles the staff. They are so warm and welcoming.

Unfortunately, all the tables were taken and the space was very noisy, so we couldn't stay, but everything I saw in the case looked exquisite, and the strawberry frangipane tart I got to go was perfect in every way. I look forward to another visit, hopefully at a quiet time.

I went there yesterday and it was probably the first time I didn't tip. I always come here every Sunday afternoon and eat and I never had such poor service. I'm 19 and I work in a restraunt. I know the typical teenagers don't tip thing, but I go by the rule of %20 because servers work hard. However yesterday I had such bad service. Now it wasn't that anyone was rude. It was the fact that my server only took our order gave us our waters and was never seen again. Someone else gave us our coffees and someone else brought us our food. No problem. But while we were eating we never got checked on while I saw her check every one of her other tables, looked at us a walked away. My water glass was empty I called for her and she just walked away. Another 10 mins we wait for our check and she didn't even give it to us! It was as if we weren't even her table. My friend got frustrated and walked up to the front to pay. I've never had such poor service before here. This place is by far the best cafe I've ever been to, and their food is amazing. But I never felt so stereotyped. It was extremely dissappointing.

Great atmosphere, friendly servers, delicious food! I would recommend their breakfast menu over their lunch menu, but the breakfast menu deserves 5 stars just on its own. Their homemade bread is to die for, and their eggs benedict is by far the best I have ever had!! Tips- They are busy on the weekend, and their phone is often busy for reservations, so be prepared for a 10-20 minute wait time, and this is a small restaurant, so groups larger than 4-6 people may have a harder time getting in.

FABULOUS bakery, casual restaurant & meeting place!! It has it all, plus an ambience of being in Italy!! I took my Dad & niece there, had a great brunch, then got a loaf of bread to carry on the plane ride home. There often is a wait for seating, but who cares: you're having FUN the entire time, and the staff is fast & friendly & accommodating to everyone. What a FUN experience! We'll definitely be back.

Full disclosure - I like biscuits. A lot. These people make biscuits I would murder my family for. They make other things that are worth killing for too - scones, bread, cupcakes, anything with gluten basically. But the biscuits? I'll go to jail for the biscuits.

We'll talk about the food in just a minute - one of the most fascinating aspects of the dining experience here is the journey to the restroom, something I recommend for everyone, regardless of need. The path takes you straight through the center of the kitchen, where you can gaze adoringly on food in prep or pre-prep state, ogle state-of-the-art kitchen gadgets, and rub elbows (literally) with the energetic and creative men and women behind the food. We dropped in for brunch and were lucky to find a small table in the corner to serve as our base of operations. The service was very friendly and appropriately casual for a lazy weekend day. And the food was top notch. I've found it's hard to go wrong with the combination of eggs and polenta, and the rendition here was spectacular,. The poached eggs sat in the middle of the polenta, topped with a thin ribbon of A-grade prosciutto, toasted breadcrumbs, and a drizzle of Balsamic. Our second dish was a piadina, essentially a flatbread made of pizza dough, grilled and stuffed with a sausage, eggs, potatoes, and a ladle of country gravy. The texture and taste of the flatbread really made the dish, providing a platform for the other ingredients to shine without overwhelming them with a strong flavor of its own. Strongly recommended except to the strictly dieting. We somehow escaped without taking along any of the jaw-dropping array of baked goods behind the counter that ranged from breads to sticky buns to cookies to cupcakes. Each looked delicious in its own right, and unable to decide I threw up my hands and left...empty handed. Until next time.

I love Della Fattoria! I literally think about their amazing lattes and baked goods every day! They make the most amazing chocolate croissant I have ever had in my life! I love how every time I order a latte, it comes out looking like a beautiful piece of art! I usually order the toast trio, but I'm sure everything else on their menu is equally as delicious! Thank you Della Fattoria for taking pride in the food that you offer! I can taste the quality and the love! :-)

If you can appreciate fresh baked, artisanal bread, this is your Mecca. Their top-selling Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread is the best, purchase one if available. Last couple of times I've gone, they've been sold-out. Sandwiches are light and not terribly huge. Smoked salmon, with tapenade is arguably their best sando; light filling with enough saltiness to satisfy an appetite. Looking forward to eating b-fast here.

Oh my...I just had the best sandwich I've ever had. Egg salad with smoked salmon on soft , chewy homemade bread. I tried to buy a loaf but they were sold out. First time I've had egg salad where it didn't squish out when you took a bite. Soooo good.

Disclaimer - My husband and I were huge fans of Della Fattoria. Whenever we had guests in town we would drive an hour north of SF to bring them here for brunch. This review is regards to their business ethics and service, not the food. The last time I was at Della Fattoria, I ordered an Asian Chicken Salad. This was a big mistake as I have a severe nut allergy. Now, I know what you are thinking - a lot of asian salads have nuts in them. So I asked my waiter specifically if there were nuts anywhere in the salad or dressing. He curtly replied "If it doesn't say there is on the menu, there isn't". I guess I should have pressed back, but he made me feel pretty stupid, so I went ahead and ordered it. I spent the rest of Sunday in the hospital having my worst allergic reaction of my life. Even when my husband was rushing me out of the restaurant and into the car to the hospital, the waiter refused to go check with the kitchen to see if there were nuts, telling my husband that he could go ask them himself. The kitchen worker told my husband (in spanish) that there was peanut butter in the dressing. The worst part of this story came when I called the restaurant to let them know what happened, and recommend that they list the salad as having nuts on the menu. The woman who was put on the phone as the manager told me "Well, it is listed on the weekday menu. And that is basically the worst thing to order if you have a nut allergy". Thanks very much for the compassion. She then said, "To make up for it, we'd love to send you a gift card". I thought well, even if that doesn't cover my hospital bills (or the $70 brunch), at least it is a nice gesture. Well, guess what? I still haven't seen the promised gift card. Della Fattoria, please have a little more respect with your customers' health. And please don't make false promises.

My wife and I decided to eat lunch at a little bakery called Della Fattoria. We could not believe how good the food tasted and the excellent service. Jeanne had a ham and cheese sandwich and I had a Reuben. The sandwiches were a combination of being light and filling at the same time, a difficult combination to accomplish. We were very pleased. We had the good fortune to have the manager wait on us. She was friendly and professional and helpful, but more than that, she was very generous.

My most favorite bakery/breakfast/brunch place in Petaluma. It features the freshest, most vibrant ingredients resulting in delicious rustic Italian food and pastries. Whenever we are in any reasonable proximity of Petaluma, we have to stop here just to taste all the things that we crave, but should not have. Great service, great food, extremely crowded most of the time, so get ready for some waiting.

Do not, under any circumstances, leave this place without a pastry! The breakfast plates are delicious, and the bread is pretty good, but the pastries are supreme.

There are few places that offer so many types of food with such consistent quality. Want a fantastic cup of espresso? Della Fattoria. Want great bread? Della Fattoria. Great lunch? Della Fattoria. Great breakfast? Della Fattoria. The menu is somewhat limited at breakfast and lunch, but what food they do have is fantastic. The atmosphere manages to both be friendly and quietly sophisticated. It's almost European! The coffee is some of the best I've ever had, and the bread is delicious. What more can I say about this place? The hours aren't great, but that's not worth taking off a whole star. 4.9 stars! 5 if you don't care about the hours.

Probably just about the best food...breakfast...bread...in Petaluma!! Oh yummmmm! I'm getting hungry just thinking about this place! Favorite: their Meyer lemon bread...mmmmm! Parking isn't the best, so I like to park in the parking garage and walk through downtown or by the river...breathtakingly beautiful!

Love the atmosphere & I LOVED the lavender honey latte the first time I visited, but today the espresso ruined the drink...not sure if they changed beans? On my first visit, I had something with a poached egg on top & it was SO undercooked, the egg white was slimy. However, the loaf of awesome lemon, rosemary, sea salt bread made me forget about that nasty egg & the ridiculous price I paid to not eat. My advice...taste everything you buy before you leave in your car (like I've now done twice).

I eat here as often as I can. The food is AMAZING - all of it from what they serve to the breads and desserts you can purchase to take home. The staff is super friendly. I LOVE the communal seating. I recommend this place to absolutely everyone!

Every time we are near Petaluma we stop here. The baked goods are all amazing. It has a French country feel with the family style tables throughout the room. Prices are very reasonable and the food is excellent. Though the place gets busy, the servers are friendly and attentive. One cannot write a review without mentioning the Meyer lemon bread. We always take a loaf to go. All I can say is don't miss this place.

I stopped in for brunch this past weekend with a group of friends after a morning run. We were hungry and looking for something yummy. I had stopped in a few times before but was unable to sit and enjoy a meal due to the lack of space as they have communal tables and not really set up for any parties larger than 4. This was to be our lucky day as we were seated almost immediately. The experience definitely did not leave us with a warm fuzzy feeling. After sitting we had 3 different people come talk to us about taking our order. Service was very slow once we did order... so slow that we sat for 45 minutes before getting our meals and even considered walking up to the counter to cancel the order since we were no longer hungry. Once the food came the meal was not what I expected. I think my pallet has been spoiled by the flavors found in North Beach and this was a far cry from that. I ordered the creamy plenty and eggs. The polenta was bland and flavorless, the eggs were to be served poached and came hard boiled. It seemed that even though the place was well staffed, the way it was organized was a little confusing. We had three people walk by our table and neglect to offer to fill our water glasses. I can tell by the fact that the wait staff spoke to patrons that it must be a great place for regulars but if you are not a regular you may be forgotten.

If you're looking for wonderful bread to go along with whatever you're making at home, Della Fattoria is the place to go. I have been very satisfied with the different types of breads that they have there. My wife and I love the Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread. We tend to purchase these fresh breads at Whole Foods but if you want to make sure they are extra fresh, be sure to stop by their bakery on the boulevard Although the wait for food can be lengthy at times, it's well worth the wait. I'm not a coffee drinker so I cannot speak how that is in the morning, but the pastries, hot chocolate, and everything on the menu are tasty. I have enjoyed everything that I have had there so far. If you're looking at taking a dessert home for the night, their creme brulee, apple cobbler, and other treats are served in a small mason jar. I really appreciate the mason jar approach towards selling goodies. You'll pay an extra couple bucks to take the jars home but you'll be reimbursed when/if you return the jars to the bakery. Very eco-friendly and a great idea. Della Fattoria is another one of those small Petaluma businesses that is giving Petaluma a good name.

I apparently missed the memo about Petaluma's cultural hipster renaissance, so stumbling upon DF while getting ever-so-slightly lost in downtown Eggtown was like entering a continental European placewarp. I was on my way to Point Reyes and missed the right turn outside of Valley Ford and didn't realize my mistake until I came into town on Bodega Ave. It was very early in the morning, but that is still a major wrong turn.* Well, it became a right turn after I stopped outside of Food Bar and since they didn't open until 10 am, I slipped into Della Fattoria. It's a superb breakfast stop if you're into Eurostyle eating - a coffee with steamed milk and a pastry or freshly baked good. While you can get heartier fare - polenta and eggs, or beans and salmon on toast - or go all butter-and-sugar and grab a bear claw, I like the crumbly texture of a whole wheat scone or bran muffin paired with coffee and steamed/foamed milk. In the locavore's paradise that is Sonoma County - where even your ex-math teacher from high school might just turn out to be an artisinal organic coffee roaster - it's not a hard thing to pull off with good ingredients and well trained staff. Here both were in abundance. Combine these foodcentric qualities with a great retro space populated with interesting locals and intriguing art and quirky collectibles, and bang! You've got an eminently Yelpable go-to breakfast hot spot. My simplified recipe for unanticipated breakfast bliss was an oatmeal scone alongside a perfectly prepared cappuccino (Petaluma Coffee & Tea beans), all of which was soaked in lots of quietly enlightening early morning atmosphere. Great interior decor matched with warm ambient light and an active baking kitchen that you have to pass through on your way to the 3rd story bathroom (worth the walk), it all felt very Central European to me, with a California casual vibe tossed in for good measure. While I'm still a fan of more austere coffeehouse locales, like Verve in Santa Cruz (the Southside original location), or Ritual in SF or Blue Bottle in Oakland, or the wonderful Plank in Cloverdale, I like a little bit of Euro flair from time to time, if the baked goods and coffee drinks are fine. And they were. Nothing like getting lost in downtown Petaluma. I should do so more often. * (I blame Oprah and her new chai promotion at Starbucks. For some reason, it weirds me out and causes me to get lost. A karmic imbalance in the universe, obviously).

This is a great place to grab breakfast as long as you're not looking for a greasy, diner type of breakfast (which I'm usually not so I will be back). Their portions are reasonable and their selection of food is great. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and though I enjoyed it, I will say the gravy needed a bit more salt while it cooked, it was a bit on the bland side. Maybe if their feeling adventurous they can add some cayenne to the gravy too, I think that would be really good. Needless to say I'll be back. My husband had the croque madame and whatever mustard they put in it was delicious. The service was great and I like the space, they have some individual tables and a few community tables (or tables for big groups).

  • Kaylie L.

So. Good. But also, so. Busy. But who cares because sandwiches on house-made bread! House made mayo! And biscuits for daaaaaays. I consistently get the Croque Baton which is delicious and the side salad with that very light but perfectly done dressing is just too much. I've only tried the Oreo's they make which I didn't care for - everything was too firm, even the filling. The service is always on point - my water is never empty for long (if ever) and everyone is great at answering questions. The only downside is how busy this place gets, which is great for them but with the community style seating, it isn't always so romantic or even quiet enough for a lunch with a friend. They are incredibly accommodating with children too!

Don't be in a hurry if you plan to eat here. I wanted to love this place, but I didn't. We got a seat right away which was great since we were starving after a nine mile run. However, it all went down hill from there. Service was painfully slow to the point where we almost cancled our order and left after 30 minutes and still no food. Our drinks never received a refill, even when at least 8 servers were floating around the restaurant with water jugs to fill empty cups. It is a family style seating arrangement and I think the management needs to organize the staff to better understand how to handle this style. No one seemed to take any responsability for the refill of drinks, but they were super quick to bring the check when the bill was due. Food was OK, not so spectacular that it offset the lackluster service. Overall, meh....

Jose makes the best iced hazelnut latte! I frequent this place for my morning coffee and pastries - apple braid and cinnamon role are my favorites. Recently went here for brunch and it prompted me to review this place. Cute local brunch place with delicious food. They were very accommodating itch our daughter who needed extra space with her car seat. My husband loved his poached eggs and bacon over salad and I enjoyed my corner beef hash. We will be back!

Bread-- wonderful. Service-- friendly. Breakfast/lunch menu--- lovely. And when I feel like bringing a treat to the office, a box filled with Della croissants is a total crowd-pleaser. But let's talk about some coffee. Normally I am not for flavored coffee drinks... And normally find that "a skinny vanilla latte" tastes more like a melted milkshake than coffee, but Della has some pretty delicious unique coffee creations. My favorite is the honey lavender latte.

We came here for brunch after we saw the great reviews. And I'm glad we did. It's a bakery/restaurant and it's absolutely charming. We got seats at the corner end of the large communal table and ended up chatting with a father who came in with his adorable little girl. Everything in the menu sounded amazing but I did realize towards the end that their plates veered towards larger, more lunch like portions so if you want something lighter I would suggest just getting fresh pastries and coffee. My bf and I shared a pastry basket while we had coffee and waited for our main plates. The croissants and coffee were fantastic! Of course, since we were about to head out wine tasting I decided to start the day properly with one of their champagne cocktails after my macchiato. And I gotta say, theirs is one of the best I've ever had! They bring you the small bottle of champagne along with the fruit purée to be used as base and pour it right at the table. Fresh fruit, good quality wine, and you basically get 2 glasses worth of cocktail! I had the blood orange which was terrific but I'd also love to try the passion fruit next time. As for the main plates, I ordered the Croque Madame and my bf ordered one of their piadinas. I was very happy with my food but I must say I wasn't wowed by the piadina. We wanted to order sweets but we were really full.. Perhaps next time we should just order pastries, one main plate, and then desserts. Lol.. Anyways, with the awesome food, friendly service, and great atmosphere I see why this is a local favorite. I know I'd frequent this place for their breads and pastries if I lived here.

Great pastries and Cappuccino. The smoked salmon breakfast platter is generous and tasty. Bread is out of this world, wish I live din Petaluma just for this ! Polenta is a tad bland but that's a minor quibble.

This is a delightfully delicious place! My dear friend and I ate here awhile back (so sorry for the delay in reviewing) and left completely satisfied. The food was top notch, the ambiance was cozy, and warm and the staff were courteous and intelligent! As good as our breakfast was, the bread is what made it over the top amazing! I crave their baked goods now, and everything else pales in comparison! The only downside was that it is a very small dining area, so there could be a wait... and it was well worth it!!!

**4.5 Stars** What a neighborhood gem! Della Fattoria is a popular bakery and brunch spot in Petaluma. They also have, I've been told, a presence at the Ferry Building in SF. Either way, it's a perfect spot if you're headed further north to wine country or just happen to be in the area. The vibe is casual. Tables are first come, first serve and several tables are communal. We were lucky we arrived before the brunch crowd. We only ordered a few items as we had plans later, but we longingly eyed the fantastic baked goods, made daily. Our small selection: Lavender lemonade - a shocking pinkish lavender concoction that tastes wonderful and is super refreshing. Coffee - simple but great quality beans. This was the right perk up for the day. American pot pie - well worth the 15-20 minute wait. Perfect for sharing. A gorgeous pot pie came out piping hot. Opening the delectable pastry shell, you see thinly sliced potatoes, chicken meat and a gorgeous half cooked farm egg that you mix and quickly cook in the liquid cauldron. It was amazing! Probably the most delectable pot pie I've ever had and quite novel with the perfect farm egg. Overall, Della was a perfect detour stop for our fun day. The food was savory and delicious and it's a fun place to stop. Petaluma has grown up since I remember it as the chicken Capitol! Della accepts credit cards including American Express.

My new favorite spot! Stopped in with my boyfriend on a Sunday for brunch and luckily got seated right away and it was busy! All of the breakfast looked amazing, we decided on eggs Benedict and a scramble. Both were excellent! We also had mimosas and they give you a nice size. I just went back on a Thursday for lunch and the sandwiches and bread are amazing as well. The best part was the honey lavender latte that they specialize in. Love love love

A local recommended this little spot and the food experience was amazing! The polenta was creamy and the breakfast trip was delicious as well. It comes with 3 slices of toast consisting with one egg salad, one beans with goat cheese and kalamata olives, and one with salmon and cream cheese with thinly sliced cucumbers and capers. Coffee was super fresh and ambience was very warm. Only critique is I wish there was that inviting smell when your inside.. Like perhaps fresh brewed coffee or their baked bread. Overall great experience!

I went on a Saturday morning, and it was extremely busy. The only seats available were at a long table between two separate groups. After a brief uncomfortable stint of sitting closer to complete strangers than I normally would people I know, I relaxed and began to enjoy the experience. Sitting at the same table with people you don't know can be weird at first, but when you're hungry you're hungry. On to the food! My girlfriend had polenta and poached eggs, I had biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage. Both were extremely tasty. The biscuits were fresh baked and fluffy, the gravy not too salty. The polenta was creamy and delicious. The coffee was excellent as well! We finished off brunch sharing a chocolate eclair (what the hell right? The place is a bakery after all). The service was a little on the sporadic side, but to be fair it was extremely busy. The servers were very friendly and smiled a lot. Don't be scared of the crowds, this is a really nice breakfast place.

Excellent service, amazing food, comfortable atmosphere. We made a reservation and I brought a large group (9 people). They set us up in the secret upstairs room that overlooks the kitchen and main eating area. It was like getting the extra special family style treatment we were up there for a couple of hours. On the way out we paid our bill and the owner/manager gave us some free loaves of fresh bread with a smile. My family from out of town still talks about their next visit out to P-town and especially Della!!

4.5 Stars This was a breakfast experience. Service was attentive and super friendly. Coffee was really, like really good! I had some poached eggs over salad greens. This place is incredible-a jewel in the heart of downtown Petaluma. Everything is absolutely amazing from the delicious cafe drinks (free refills on coffee!) to the scrumptious pastry, to the delicious jam and meals! I had the breakfast sandwich-absolutely incredible and shared the large pastry basket with the family. The desserts are probably some of the best I've ever tasted, especially those special desserts in jars. Definitely a five star place for me!!

Dirty chai is fantastic! Not too sweet, hot, and strong. Huge too. Americano is very good too. The pleuot jam that came out with our pastry basket was so fresh and amazing! Service was amazing too. We were short on time to get back to the airport and they totally accommodated us without being snooty or anything. They brought out our food super fast. And Stacey's breakfast was delish too. Great farm fresh salad, avocados, tasty tomatoes, bacon, and three perfectly poached eggs.

Call ahead for breakfast seating on the weekend! Amazing breads. Stop for these even if you don't stay to eat. Hard to find real French bakeries that makes bread, as opposed to just treats and baguettes. Wish I had one of these near me. But if you do stay to eat, enjoy the truly amazing breakfasts. Polenta and poached eggs is truly delicious. Husband had a breakfast sandwich and thought it was amazing. Love the semolina pullman for take-away. I slice it and freeze it, enjoying a slice a day for a couple of weeks.

The short: YUMMALICIOUS! Definitely go and check this place out for breakfast when you have the chance. The long: The smell of fresh baked bread and pastries is accompanied by the murmur of happy customers sitting at family style tables in this cozy joint. There are some individual tables along the perimeter of the "dining room" - aka, the open area in the bakery where they squeeze in as many tables as they can so guests can enjoy the delicious food. And there are, as I mentioned, a couple of longer tables in the center where you may or may not rub elbows with the folks next to you depending on how busy it is. There are also a couple of tables outside if you want to eat al fresco. The day before Thanksgiving was a busy day and customers were coming in and out through the middle of the dining area to pick up their baked good at the counter in the back. Everything looked and smelled delicious. Various breads, pastries, and cakes which each looked as delicious as the next. I was surprised by the price tag on some of the items - but in a boutique bakery it is just as expensive as I've seen other places. We were lucky that we didn't have to wait long for a space at one of the long tables for three of us. We took a glance at the breakfast menu which was given to us on clipboards and decided to share a small basket of pastries between the three of us. We each also ordered some other goodies. The small basket of fresh yummy pastry goodies included a biscuit, bear claw, and a danish. Served with jam. The bear claw had nuts in the filling (I don't like nuts) but other than that it was very good. The danish was very very good. The biscuit I saved until the next day because I got so full from my other food. Warmed up the next day it was still delicious. My mom got the oatmeal and said it was very good. Came with bananas and some other toppings. She also got a latte. It came in a giant soup bowl! Seriously the biggest coffee drink I've ever seen. I got the polenta with havarti and a poached egg set atop. It was so rich and creamy. The havarti flavor in the polenta was strong, but not overwhelming. I only ate about half the dish because of the richness, plus I had some of the pastries on the side. My sister just had the pastries with a poached egg on the side. My one big problem with the food was the poached egg. In my book a poached egg means firm whites, but runny yolk. The yolks here were not even close to runny. They weren't completely cooked, but definitely on the "hard" side. When I cut into the egg placed on the center of my polenta I expected the yolk to run out and meld with the polenta. No such luck. Other than that the atmosphere was cozy and quaint. The staff were very friendly with attentive and quick service. The prices were decent. We stumbled across this place because my sister walked by it one day and remembered it when we were thinking of a place for breakfast. So glad we made the trip in. Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places I've been to in the area. Delish!

Favorite breakfast spot in Petaluma. Extremely friendly service. Very high quality food. It's fresh and delicious. The breads are outstanding. Zero complaints. Great place. Dungeness Crab Benedict was everything you'd hope it would be. The people here are nice, service is good, and the food is delicious. It's classy but not pretentious. Probably one of the best places to visit in Petaluma. I'd recommend buying any of their breads to take home. They are all delicious.

Yes, they do have $11 hot dogs, but they're dang good. Especially with the wedge of romaine and blue cheese dressing. Actually, the best thing I've had on the menu has no bread at all. It's a no-carb salad with poached eggs, avocados, and a very simple vinaigrette with just a tiny dash of hot sauce. Amazingly filling, really yummy. But the hot dog is good, too!

I regularly dream about the Rancho Gordo Beans on Toast. It sounds so simple, and is likely easily passed over - but it showcases the fresh, flavorful ingredients from the region at their very best. Topped off with an agave mimosa, and you are one satiated, happy camper. Heavenly!

My family and I started off with a pastry basket, which they chose for us. I'm curious to see if it changes from table to table, or if we get what's leftover in the case, or if it's specifically chosen for their basket on the menu. Anyway, we got a Chocolate Crossaint (decent, pretty good), a scone (average) and a butterhorn. The Butterhorn was definitely the best! I then ordered their corned beef hash with poached eggs on top. Although I liked the ratio of meat to potatoes, and eggs on top, it just didn't seem salty enough. My uncle felt the same way, so we kept on sprinkling more and more salt on it. Perhaps it was a bad batch, I don't know. But I guess it's better to be undersalted than too salted. I loved the sour wheat bread they also put on the side though. It was well buttered and tasted AMAZING. I came here a previous time as well, and remember the sandwiches being pretty good as well. But since last time, the restaurant has changed their furniture and it looks very classy inside. Loved the update! I would probably return to purchase some bread and some pastries. Sandwiches good, but breakfast alright. I would like to give this restaurant another try though. I'd love to give this restaurant more stars, but at the moment I'll give it 3.5.

I heard great rewviews about this place, but maybe I just want the basic breakfast staples. My husband had a fantastic Stacey's breakfast, but my bean covered toast was just so-so. The latte made up for it though. They were also out of several things on the menu by 9 am (either a sign of popularity, or we were just unlucky). Either way, The ambiance of this place was great, but I would try some different things on the menu next time.

Hands down the best biscuits and gravy with eggs and sausage that I've ever had. Every time I am in Petaluma for the weekend I try and make a stop here for brunch and order the biscuits and gravy. The house coffee is one of my favorite cups of coffee as well.

My wife and I go there often. Her favorite sandwich is the Croque Monsueir. My favorites are the BLT in the summer and the Reuben. I'm fond of the Rancho Gordo beans on toast. The soups and the salads are excellent. Both my wife and I like the Panzanella salad. This salad changes with the seasons. Their loaves of bread are some of the best I've tasted. My wife likes Campana. I like Pan Integral. In the dozens of times we've been in, I don't think that I've ever had a bad meal.

This is one of the best breakfast/bakery spots in the Bay Area for sure happy to have them here in Petaluma. I regularly get the bread pudding , croque madam , and coffee. The lemon rosemary sourdough is legit as well.

Very cute bakery with high quality products. We enjoyed the pastries for breakfast and the bread was excellent. One misstep is the coffee. You will get a very small cup of coffee for the price. The quality is very good though. Service was very friendly.

Coming here for my birthday was the best choice I made this year! Though we found an open table at the back of the cafe they were willing to move my party to the windows as soon as a spot opened up so we could watch the Butter and Eggs parade march by. I loved the food and there was so much no one at the table to finish their meal. The service was outstanding and in the end we each got a free cupcake to celebrate my birthday. I love it here and will be bringing my friends and family again!

We liked it a lot we came here for two straight days. Can't miss the Honey Lavender Latte. But any espresso based drink is good. The baristas do great foams. Piadina was under seasoned. Croque Madam and Egg Bene were very good. The seeded wheat might be my favorite bread. I should have picked it over the Rosemary Meyer lemon.

I want to start by saying that I used to love Della Fattoria. I would come every week and sit outside with my dogs and have lunch. I have also been for breakfast several times and I genuinely enjoy their food and pastries. I have even come to be friendly with several members of the staff. But recent changes have me doubting I will ever go there again. The past two times I have gone there with my dog, I go inside, ask for a table outside. They acknowledge me, reserve a table (the second time there was one free so I just sat) and then I wait. And wait. I am never given a menu or water or even a second word once I step outside. In my opinion, if you want to eat here, order a pastry and coffee and get it to go. Their food is good, their staff is untrained and forgetful and makes the experience not worth the effort to get their attention.

This spot is really fantastic. Whenever we are in Petaluma, we go here for lunch. The place itself has a really cute rustic-Italian vibe and the food is absolutely amazing. The chicken salad sandwich, rancho gordo bean toast or really any salad is fantastic. Plus, the vegan/flourless chocolate chip cookie, chocolate eclair or any of their baked goods make for a delicious dessert. Not to mention, the staff is always extremely friendly and accommodating. We have been coming here as a family for years and never once walked away feeling anything other extremely satisfied.

My cool co-worker Sarah turned me on to Della Fattoria. The semolina bread is AMAZING! It is coated with sesame seeds and has such a great tangy bread flavor and texture, it is so wonderful. I shouldn't even be yelping how great it is because it is already hard to get up early enough in the morning to buy this bread before it sells out~ I The rosemary meyer lemon bread is perfect when you are eating crab and other fresh seafood. Their honey lavender latte is a treat too. All of the staff are really sweet and hard working and it smells heavenly in the bakery. Enjoy!

A gem of a bakery plus restaurant. The husband and I stopped by for brunch and I could have eaten the entire menu!! Best of all, brunch was served all day today (Saturday). I couldn't pass up on the "Dungeness Crab Bennie" (Eggs Benedict), which came served on top of their own country bread. The ball 'n chain got the biscuit and gravy. Enough said, right? Everything was fresh and scrumptious. Not heavy, and pretty good portions. Tied us over until dinner time. We also picked up a fresh loaf of their Campagne bread, which is rustic on the outside and soft, doughy on the inside. Great for sopping up pasta sauce, which is what we used it for during dinner. I will admit that I totally ogled their pastry selection and can't wait to return to Petaluma to eat here again. Highly recommend!!

I came here for brunch on a weekday morning during a business trip with some colleagues, and we all loved Della Fattoria. My copywriter's grits and poached eggs were particularly delicious, and we all loved the toast so much we ordered an extra round for the table. I really liked the hipster-ish (but not too hipster) vibe, the communal tables and soft music. Minus one point because they have some hard limits on how they prepare their organic eggs - they won't scramble anything, presumably so their customers can enjoy the eggs in all their glory. But I know a lot of people who have textural issues with soft eggs, so I thought this was a hit better-than-thou on Della's part. Still, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it's always great when a place uses organic and locally-sourced food. The ambiance would work beautifully for anything from a family breakfast outing to a romantic dinner date, and if our brunch is anything to go by, their dinner must be crazy good. If you're in the area it's a must-try!

Great place for brunch. My wife and I come here for the corn beef hash but stay for the fresh OJ, coffee, amazing bread and pastries. It's a tradition for us to take out of town visitors here and have yet to hear a single discouraging word.

I saw that this place had great reviews for breakfast and decided to try it out. This was a great choice. The coffee is delicious and I ordered the biscuits and gravy which I have to say was one of the best I've had. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu items!

We had brunch here on a Saturday. Of course, it was busy but we just beat a rush of people that came in behind us. We ended up at one of the communal tables and were quickly met by our server with water. The service is very courteous and attentive. Okay, now to the food. I had the corned beef hash. It's awesome - chunks and shreds of brisket with potatoes, carrots, peppers and onions. A couple pieces of toast and two poached eggs on top. My wife ordered the biscuits and gravy with link sausage and poached eggs. The poached eggs were a bit too done for our taste. I like the yolk to run out and these eggs were almost well-done. This must be the way they like to poach them because all four eggs were the same way. The biscuits were very good, but they need more gravy. We're from the Southeast. It's not biscuits and a little gravy - it's biscuits and GRAVY. I make my own sausage and my own sawmill gravy is pretty, pretty good, so I think I can say this. Didn't have the pastries this time, but have had plenty of their pastries in the past. The baked goods here are divine - pastries, muffins, bread. The coffee/espresso/hot chocolate bevs are also very good. Definitely a must stop if you are in downtown Petaluma.

Yo, seriously...artisanal and as good as It gets!!! Try the croque madame and the biscuits and gravy, then grab a pastry to go. insanely huge lattes do not hurt either!!!

  • Mansi A.

The pastries were just OK. Tried the currant scone and an almond croissant, but both were overly buttery. I should've gone with the Yelpers and just ordered a regular breakfast item, which all seem to be rated much better! On the bright side, the Petaluma Coffee Roasting Co. americano was pretty darn fab.

Della Fattoria bread is the best! I was fortunate enough to have some friends turn me on to Della Fattoria's Meyer Lemon Rosemary bread. It is some of very best bread I have ever had. I highly recommend stopping here and buying some bread and taking it home as it a real treat!

Mother of all sandwich places! My buddies told me about this place so I dropped by, the food was wonderful and prices were good. The bread was great! I highly recommend leaving with a loaf if they have not sold out of it by the point you get by.

Della Fattoria Everyone and a while the stars aline in prefect harmony to make a perfect meal. For me a perfect meal is not about fine dining in a three star Michelin Guide restaurant on the contrary, it is usually about taking very humble ingredients, not bludgeoning them to death, and having those ingredients do their magic. Seasonal local organic are a big plus but, it is more about people who are inspired by their craft and love what they do are always help make a perfect meal. The setting no matter how pedestrian can evoke a scene of wonder and well-being in a hospital environment which promotes hospitality. Della Fattoria dellafattoria.com in Petaluma is one such place. Winner of Bon Appétit Magazine 2010, The Top 10 Best Bread Bakeries in America is a family owned establishment which not only makes remarkable breads but, also serves a wicked menu for breakfast, lunch and diner. Let's eat. This is not the first time which I had dined there but, it was the first time I had dined there for breakfast. I was encouraged by having dined successfully from their lunch and diner menus I knew that being unfamiliar with their breakfast menu will be venturing into uncharted territory. Breakfast can be either take out or served at two large dining tables or smaller two person tables for those who wishes for some privacy. But, don't think you'll get intimate dining experience while here, Della Fattoria is working baker with guess hurrying to either buy a fresh loaf of bread or, their morning coffee during their morning rush. It can be quite noisy for those who enjoy privacy. Located in an a old historic building in the west side of Petaluma's downtown area is part of it's charm and no extra charges for the squeaky hardwood floors. The breakfast menu like Dell Fattoria lunch and diner menus reflects simplicity and seasonal availability. Being in the heart of Sonoma County's agricultural center and Mediterranean climate helps assures a bounty of fresh produce through out the year. One morning I had ordered a simple breakfast of creamy polenta with two fresh poached eggs and Havarti cheese. Delightful ! Why would anyone want to eat cold soulless processed cereal after that is beyond reckoning. Another morning I had Rancho Gordo Beans on toast ,pureed Cannellini Beans, Chevre, roasted garlic, olives and olive oil on rosemary Meyer-Lemon toast . Heavenly ! My wife had one morning Stacey's Breakfast ,mxxed greens, Citronette, avocado, three poached ranch eggs, bacon and hot sauce. Delouse ! The next morning was Della Breakfast Toast . Bellwether Ricotta, organic bananas, toasted pecans, honey & Fleur de Sel. If I say too much about this one I would be over selling it but, what I can say is this : it is must for those who love great food not to miss. Sadly Della Fattoria is on the other side of the continent and I will miss dining there on a regular basis. I love Charlotte North Carolina but, Petaluma is where my taste buds call home. Make sure while in Petaluma you drop in Della Fattoria , you'll be glad you did.

We just had an unbelievably awful experience dining here. We have been customers for quite some time and have always raved about the lattes in addition to the wonderful menu. Today we were very disappointed. We walked in at 11:02am and were told they can't make a poached egg on toast because there kitchen moved over to lunch which begins at 11am. We ordered our lattes that took forever and it was not even busy. Once our lattes arrived fifteen minutes later there was no foam, the latte was Luke warm and the milk tasted burnt. We mentioned to our server that they were not drinkable and she had them re made. Unfortunately the second time around was just as bad. On top of the horrible lattes. We ended up ordering toast with a side of jam and avocado. The toast arrived 40 minutes later and it is very cold and at this point nothing was enjoyable. Then we received our bill and were in complete shock! We were charged $3.00 for barely a HALF of an avocado that was used on two out of the four pieces of toast. We were beside ourselves. You can buy a WHOLE avocado that's organic for less than that. We didn't finish our lattes and we are now skeptical to return back or recommend this place to anyone else again. Not mention our server did not seem too concerned about our dining experience and accommodating our frustrations.

I live in Petaluma. I've been to Della Fattoria many, many times. I've been wanting to write something in Yelp for a LONG time. That day has come. Love the bread and most of the pastries. Breakfasts and lunches are usually pretty good. They take FOREVER to come to the table. Are they running a bakery or a restaurant? Oh, it's both. Bakers should bake and cooks should cook. If I order a sandwich, don't take 30+ minutes to get it out. People, it's a sandwich! More times than not it's not that busy in there. Additionally, there aren't that many tables in there and the menu isn't massive. This should be a well oiled machine. The machine needs oil. If you're in a hurry, you may want to consider eating somewhere else. If you're looking to buy something that isn't on the menu, but in the display cases or on the wall, you'll get out of there fairly quickly... unless you order coffee. Walk to Starbucks. You'll get it faster, including the time it takes to walk there. You might be able to walk all the way down to Peet's and get your coffee before Della gets your order to you. The ambiance of Della is great! It's a really cool place and we enjoy bringing our daughter there. However, the bottom line is that the service SUCKS ASS! Come on guys, we're in Petaluma and not NYC. I don't even put up with snotty NYC hipster restaurant attitude, but serious... Petaluma. Get over yourself and can you get that cup of coffee to me in less than 5 minutes? Based on all the negative feedback I've seen on here, it is evident that the neither the owners or the management care to take the time to read their Yelp reviews. That's a shame. Either they don't know about this web site or they just don't care. Many people around town love the bread/food, but detest the service. Just my 2 cents.

The food is good here, not great. The service is just awful, the manager and wait staff are so snooty. I've tried this place 3 times thinking they were having an off day. I will not go back.

Best cupcakes EVER! A number of years ago I bought a few cupcakes to go from this place. I have never forgotten that moment I ate them. How can a cupcake be SO much better than any other? I mean it's a cupcake. But not here. They should rename them. If I had eaten it in the store, I would have bought every single one in the building. Sadly, I'm celiac and can not partake in such heavenly grain experiences anymore. I'm sure glad I did that time though. I was recently in town again and took my friend, she confirms the cupcakes are still amazing. The owner and staff are as sweet as the goodies they make. The prices are a little high, but quality good. Not much for GF, sadly. Salads are it. The atmosphere is nice and neighborly. A Petaluma must!

Della Fattoria has amazing fresh baked goods, some desserts, and fare (though limited options). The croissant was good (though not the best I've had; could've been more buttery) as were the scones. If stopping by for breakfast, the french toast is an absolute must. Located in downtown Petaluma, Della Fattoria is a bit hard to catch, but worth looking for. It's an order-at-the-counter and sit-at-the-communal-tables kind of place, so more of a place for a quick bite. The beverages are artisanal and made to order, so a bit on the smaller end. Service takes its time. Street parking only.

Impressive. They had a line for large tables but we managed to grab a two top at just the right time. What a cool selection of breads and cakes! We went for brunch, which was satisfying, well-priced and offered a good selection. Do yourself a favor and order a glass of the fresh pressed orange juice, it's truly delicious.

The sandwiches were good: but our orders were a bit messed up. So, not sure about the takeouts. My wife asked for avacado on her farm sandwich and although it was charged for, was missing. I asked for wheat bread for my BLT instead of white bread but didn't get it either. Also, my side salad didn't come with any dressing; but, my wife's did. Same side salads. Go figure:)

This place started out as a backyard bakery selling to the French Laundry so you bet their bread is gonna be BOMB. Buy bread. Eat breakfast. Get pastry basket. Stuff face. Don't feel regret. It'll be worth it.

Great food, expect a wait, but worth it. Had the corn beef hash, excellent. They did a nice little complimentary plate of homemade scones especially for Mother's Day, spelling "Mom" out in honey butter, impressive and tasty. The bench seating makes the best use of space for this small but popular establishment.

Went to the Della farm dinner this weekend. It was a great experience. The food and the setup was pretty amazing. Started with tons of cheeses, charcuterie, sausages and pates from Thistle Meats, crostini, crudite, Full Belly new potatoes smashed and fried in bacon fat (ridiculous! So good), veggie blinis and balsamic figs. Quite a spread. Next, served family style was whole pig porchetta style with parmesan potatoes and simple salad of fresh greens and veggies. Then, dessert and coffee. Apple Gaulette and a Chocolate Cream Tart (I call it that because the center was super creamy). Both pretty amazing. It's BYOB and family style seating. Was a good time sharing wines with others at the table. Met some really great people. This is a must if you are in the area. I'll be back every chance I get. Thank you Della.

Honey lavender latte, meyer lemon rosemary bread, poached eggs, citronette, fresh bacon and avocado, egg, ham and cheese on brioche, cupcakes and cobbler, tarts and croissants, scines and biscuits, piadinas and organic chicken sandwiches....just to start.

I definitely didn't get the hype about this place. I came for brunch on a Saturday. It was crowded but we were seated right away. The menu looked great, although there were not many selections that were pork-free. Larry S. had the Croque Madame and I went with the ricotta toast. The food took forever to arrive and we had to ask several times for water. When the food arrived, Larry's croque lookd amazing and my ricotta toast looked disappointing. I felt like I was being punked! The plate had one large slice of crusty bread, cut in two, with a very thin schmear of ricotta topped with thin peach slices. While the quality of the ingredients was very high, I don't like paying $9 for toast and leaving the restaurant hungry. Very high quality ingredients are somewhat negated by high prices and spotty service.

Obviously, the bread is amazing! But so is the food, pastries, and desserts! Service can be hit and miss depending on how busy it is, so really, do yourself a favor and go on a weekday. Also, a reservation is always a good idea.

The boy & I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant while taking a spontaneous trip up to the north bay. It was really crowded, but we sat at the community table, which was cool, I guess. Kind of crazy & chaotic, but I don't mind. The food is SO good. I got the bacon, tomato, arugula, avocado, and egg sandwich, and the boy got the croque Madame. So so sooooooo good. I usually try to stay away from croque madames & monsieurs, but this wasn't crazily heavy or anything! And my sandwich was so fresh & delicious & yumm. They also gave us some free pastries & such because they felt bad for inconveniencing us [they'd asked us to move to accommodate a larger party]. The hot chocolate is also to die for here. Yum... This definitely isn't the place to go if you want a quick meal, but I love being able to sit down & enjoy my food, so it works out for me!

Service is always friendly (from the younger employees). Had stale breakfast sandwich TWICE (will never order again) but their lunch sandwiches and breakfast are to die for. Espresso service is excellent, though you may wait a little while (they're often packed, and I mean PACKED). Their bread is yummy (when its fresh) and the giant oreos are amazing. (Those oreos should be on everyone's bucket list).

Love this little place, but they've got a few kinks to work out before I can count them as a top spot for me. #1: Hours - They never seem to be open! When they are I LOVE them, but it's a small window of opportunity! #2: Time - This is a place where you definitely need some time if you want to sit down and eat, the food is wonderful, but you've got to be willing to wait for it. There's only a few tables and it's a not-so-secret local gem. I love the atmosphere and the baked goods are delicious. The long picnic table is always a fun place to sit because you can chat with your "neighbors". I've been for breakfast and lunch and so far everything on their menu is yummy. Their breads are also a family favorite, whenever I can, I love to bring a loaf home too.

I had lunch there today with a friend. The service was outstanding and their French Onion soup was amazing. The best part was what I found after the meal.... They make rosemary and Meyer Lemon bread. That is a combination I would never have dreamed of. It was so wonderful I brought a loaf home. I will be back

  • John R.

I wish to update my rating of the bread to five stars. Having sampled the bread on several occasions, I can confirm the outstanding taste, consistency, and texture - Meyer lemon and rosemary bread - soft center with a firm, thin crust that is not too thick nor too crunchy (certainly not at risk for financially subsidizing a dentist with a tooth injury/damage). I still remained mystified about our failed desert given the outstanding Yelp reviews by fellow Yelpers and the overall appearance of the entrees of fellow diners. A bad day for this desert? Was it an orphan, left over tart that should have been sent to the pastry graveyard?

this is a "star average"....4 stars for food and 2 stars for service and that is being generous. this is a very busy cafe/bakery. I was there on saturday and they were jumping, I find it hard to believe it isn't like that all the time there. the waitstaff seemed to be extremely unorganized, from the person who walked away right when we were going to put our name in and didn't come back for a LONG time to the fact that we had to ask 3 times for our mimosas. they just don't seem to know what they are doing. The food is good, very good, but when you are frustrated with how the service is it doesn't make me want to hurry back there. get it together and trust me, you will do even more business.

Visiting the area, we arrived here with our taste buds WANTING breakfast. They had just finished the breakfast hour and I was NOT happy that I couldn't have it. I was NOT happy that I had to sit at a communal table. I was NOT happy that it was cold outside. However, in spite of my obvious displeasure and the fact that I wanted to leave to look for breakfast elsewhere, the waitress continued to be patient and gracious. In the end, it was the attitude of the waitress that convinced me to stay. As we started to decide what to eat, the restaurant became even more crowded with patrons. After reading the reviews on slow service, I got nervous. But, the food was served in a very timely manner. We had a grilled cheese and ham sandwich that was pure perfection and not your typical ham and cheese. The ham was chopped finely (no large pieces to fight with) and was surrounded by yummy Gruyere. The bacon on the BLT was some of the best bacon that has ever crossed our taste buds. Loved the vinaigrette that was on sandwich. Side salads came with the sandwiches. They were simply dressed with lemon and salt. The simple salads perfectly complemented the richness of the food we were eating. We also ordered a bear claw that they heated for us. It was really good and not overly sweet. My hubby ordered a coffee that he said was strong and delicious. My daughter and I ordered a pot of their in-house special blend black tea. It was smoky with hints of lavender...we loved it. My only "complaint" was the fact that I ordered the Earl Grey tea based on the suggestion of the waitress only to be told 5 minutes later that they were out of it. We ordered pastries to go: 2 s'more cookies, a lemon filled cookie, a ginger cookie and an apricot filled pastry. The s'more cookies had so much potential but ended up being "okay." The cookie itself had a stale mouth-feel and the entire product should have been heated to taste more like a real s'more. The lemon cookie was filled with a delicious curd, but the cookie itself was unmemorable. the ginger cookie was decent; the apricot pastry was very good. Quite frankly, our family preferred the lunch items over the baked goods. Our family agreed that Della Fattoria turned out to be quite a surprise. We really enjoyed the food and service, We would definitely return in the future, but go over the Water Street Bistro for dessert.

My husband and I visited Della Fattoria for breakfast on a weekend trip to Petaluma. The coffee was absolutely delicious, the food was SO GOOD, the cafe itself is really adorable and we had a great breakfast! The dishes they use are mismatchy, which I love, and the decor was just my style! Oh, and yes the bathrooms are a trek to get to, but everyone is the kitchen was so sweet, and it was such a fun adventure to get upstairs! The bathrooms were very clean and really sweet & vintage the way they were decorated. I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!!!

The tuna melt piadina is getting kind of famous, for good reason. While I was last there, sitting at the family-style communal table, 3 more people ordered it. It's a flatbread, cooked to order on a griddle, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Folded inside is a very tasty salad of tuna, pepperoncini & cheese. I don't know anywhere else you can get this fantastically delicious dish. The texture of this bread is too good for words.

We ate here at lunch with our tiny chihuahua quietly tucked in our husband's shirt, and they let us eat inside! Either the tiny dog went unoticed, or they are exceptionally dog-friendly. Either way, it saved us from sweating over where to eat with our pup while we were traveling through town on our way up the coast. We ate lunch here and bought a loaf of Pain Levain, a good basic sturdy loaf that was wonderful with soup and cheese for dinner that night. Lunch can get a bit busy, and when we sat down at the big communal table to order, they were already out of several items on the menu. But I loved eating our sandwiches and a wonderful Potato Leek Soup at that big wooden table while reading leftover sections from the New York Times. Even if it meant necessarily eavesdropping from time to time on a highly pushy lady on one side and a subtley prejudiced one on the other side. The bread - it's all worth it for the bread.

They have good pastries, however almost everything on their brunch menu has poached eggs and for people who don't like poached eggs, this is a tough place to eat. My boyfriend liked the cornbeef breakfast, but I found the sausage scramble to be bland. Wasn't a total wash though, they have a great coffee and tea selection.

Small and quaint restaurant! If you want a great sandwich, soup & salad this is the place to go. Our server was very tentative and nice. She suggested to try the French onion soup and it was fantastic. Love the breads and pastries display which brings a homey feel to the restaurant.

first of all, i consider myself to have extremely beautiful hair and refuse to fuck with food places that could be a direct threat to my hair. with that said, the food is good and good ingredients are used in it thus making it better than your regular run of the mill place to eat food at. nice long benches are fun to sit on. i also enjoy their treat section and the coffee makers are good not like those jerk offs who call themselves baristas at starbucks. i hate starbucks and their stupid faces. nice old people come here and i like nice old people.

I came here two mornings in a row on a recent weekend trip to the Petaluma area. I must state: I was absolutely delighted and enamored with everything this establishment had to offer. The eating area is esthetically pleasing without trying too hard, makes you feel at home and comfortable. The coffee that they serve here is out of this world. Like seriously. I actually am writing this and realizing I should have asked what it was. Morning one I had the creamy polenta with Havarti cheese and bread crumbs with a perfect little poached egg on top. All aboard the taste bud train to heaven. That polenta was delish incarnate! I might have moaned out loud a little that morning. The second morning I had a breakfast sandwich that was actually pizza dough with sauteed spinach, Gruyere cheese, hot sauce, tomatoes and those poached eggs again. I only was able to each half of it, it was so hardy. As I sat there looking at the other half with a look of sadness on my face, our waitress offered to box it up. I would have taken it with, but we were in route to a wine tasting event. Non food related notes: The staff here were really sweet both days although I did not get offered coffee refills on the second day. In their defense, they were much busier that morning than the previous. To get to their bathroom, you have to walk through the kitchen and let me tell you I spent all my college years working in restaurants: They keep things nice and tidy back there. The first morning I was there I sat in the window seat and was surprised to catch a glimpse in the mirror of a woman with the most pleased look on her face, that woman was me. Final verdict: I'll be back.

I went here with an out of town guest and my kids for lunch after visiting a pumpkin patch. The service was dreadfully slow. They served my brother's drink to another table and by the time he got his coffee it had been at least 20 minutes. It took longer to just get some glasses of water. The staff was friendly, but it took an excruciatingly long time to get our food (over 30 minutes) with 3 small hungry kids this was painful. Once we received the food it was simple and tasty. However, I'm stumped by our side of fruit containing bananas. I thought this was "farm to table". Not sure where the banana farm in Sonoma is. The only reason it gets any stars at all was the food was tasty and the atmosphere cute. Don't bother going here during a weekend meal time if you actually want some food.

My favorite brunch spot! I usually come here 3 weekends out of the month, it's that good. My favorite would be the creamy polenta, hands down, although everything's been amazing and nothing disappointing. I've tried to mimic this at home many times because I can't get enough. The Stacey's breakfast is another one of my favorites - a refreshing brunch salad I never tire of. The dressing is perfect and compliments the other ingredients well. I like to have my eggs poached well on this so they're more like hard boiled eggs. My boyfriend & friends swear by the smoked salmon + cream cheese. Salted caramel macchiato is a must... I just wish it came in a larger cup so I could have more! The baked goods are out of this world... My southern grandmother was even in awe of the amazing biscuits. That's saying something. Don't forget to grab some Meyer lemon rosemary bread on your way out! I believe all the breads in the bakery are sourdough based, for those more sensitive to wheat. Very easy to make meals vegetarian and looks like there's a few gluten free options as well. And to top it off, the staff is very sweet and attentive.

Their chocolate ganache is the most delicious thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. Do yourself a favor and try one! Cute, kitschy place with good service.

Cute place! Prices are definitely up there, but for what I got when I was there last week, it was generally worth it. The ham and cheese croissant was probably the best I've ever had. The staff was having an "off" morning when I was there. Service was slow and disjointed- my cappuccino turned into a large latte. I didn't understand why service was so off because it wasn't crowded and they were adequately staffed. But, I know that some days you just are off. Ordered a couple of eclaires for "the road" and the one I had was just ok. Not nearly as good as, say, Viola's or even Chloe's- but solid.

The food is fresh and very good. Very high quality. However, do not ask for sharing plates because it comes out that the amount of food is less than divining normal portion by two. Come early in the day otherwise the food selection is limited. The service is slow and inefficient. This is the second time I stop by. First time was little better. Inconsistent.

had brunch here while we were in town for a wedding. we selected it based on the great yelp review. thanks yelpers! once again, you did not steer me wrong. the ambiance is really cute and the kitchen is almost open through a large doorway in the back of the restaurant. they also sell lots of bread, which we did not try. to get to the bathroom, you actually walk through the kitchen and up 2 flights of stairs (the 2nd floor is where the pastry chefs work in prepping their stuff. it was cool b/c you literally walk right by them while they're doing their thing). we were in wine country and felt it was ok to get the party started at 10am on a saturday. i ordered the pomegranate mimosa and the fiance got a glass of red wine. so here's the low down: ambiance - super cute brunch spot. you seat yourself at whatever spot is open. there are a few small tables and 2 large long tables. the turnover is pretty quick and we were able to snag a small table right away. service - it was okay. took awhile for someone to come over to us. but she was nice enough. food - creamy polenta & eggs. YUM. this was so good! i loved the creamy, cheesy polenta. the prosciutto added some saltiness and i love spinach. would i order this again? YES PLEASE! sausage scramble piadina. fiance was debating between this dish and the biscuits and gravy. he went with this one b/c it sounded more unique. it's actually a flat bread sammie. the bread was delicious! soft and chewy with the perfect amount of flavor. the filling was sausage, eggs and cheese. honestly, the flat bread was the best part! if you're in petaluma, i would def suggest coming here for brunch! you will not be disappointed!

After reading about Della Fattoria in Sunset magazine and being in Petaluma, we decided to stop by for lunch. It was pretty packed but they were kind enough to let us eat there. They sat us upstairs so we didn't get the full ambiance of the place since we were secluded. The meal was decent but nothing to write home about. I had a turkey sandwich and the bread probably was the highlight which makes sense. All of the bread in the cases were sold out so we didn't get to see the various kinds they had to offer but I'm sure they're good.

This place was amazing. Their speciality coffees come in a huge bowl. All the food and pastries were delicious. The poached eggs are cooked medium/well. We sat right next to the case with all the cakes and near the bread so got a good look at what they had to offer. The people working were so nice and friendly. Our server told us all about the family and the farm. This is a must come back to and a great local place!

Seems like lots of people had the same issues: Wonderful, great food--but slow (turtle pace) service. After our group of 3 got seated a server came over about 3 minutes later....eh, not bad. No biggy. So we ordered drinks, and they came out about 4 minutes later...again, eh...not bad. We placed our food order and then promptly waited 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The place was not super busy--it was "normal". Maybe they need more staff, I don't know. But the server came out after about 35 minutes and said "your food should be up soon!"...which it wasn't until another 10 minutes after. We're not talking super crazy meticulous food---I had smoked salmon on bread, and some bean spread on bread too. BUT--the food is truly delicious. Just fine-tune your service and you'll end up making more money because you can turn more tables more quickly.

Great quality breads, pastries and coffee. For breakfast, if you're not into the big breakfast of eggs, meat and potato, Della Fattoria is great. Instead of a big heavy breakfast, have just a ham and cheese croissant or a sticky bun with coffee. After that, you'll say that was perfect. Next time, we'll have to try lunch.

Della was great. Went early with 5 others from the office and they accommodated us. They kept up with coffee and latte orders even being busy. I definitely recommend their breakfast sandwich and a lrg basket of pastries. Once you try a pastry you will know what I'm talking about. Oh and grab a loaf of bread on the way out.

This is my favorite place for breakfast and lunch in Petaluma. I appreciate the emphasis on seasonality and its reflection in the menu. The Meyer lemon rosemary bread and lavender lemonade are worth a try. I have yet to be disappointed by anything here.

Communal tables for breakfast and lunch. I first heard of this restaurant from either Bon Appetit or Gourmet magazine. They ranked this restaurant having the best "bread" in the Northern California. I'm not so sure about that due to the limited variety of breads that were being sold that day. However, the sandwiches and Presse and Piadana sandwiches were really delish. The portabello mushroom Presse was tasty but a bit too buttery/oily for me. The tuna melt was also pretty good. They both come with a either a side of salad or broccolini. ($11-$12) Cupcakes $3.00 each kept its shape after a car ride back to SF. The taste was okay..a bit too moist for me. Polenta bread - it tasted like sourdough. I wanted to try the Country Meyer Lemon but it was sold out by noon. Come early because if its sold out, they don't make anymore. Hibiscus Lemonade was alright. SERVICE - pleasant Bathroom- you have to bypass the long kitchen space and go upstairs. We were here for this: petalumadowntown.com/ant…

This used to be "the spot" my best friend and I would always wind up at for breakfast and lunch. They made beautiful & decadent mochas and the food is just DELICIOUS. Fresh, simple, and divine. The atmosphere is lovely. The ONLY issue is the service. Don't come here if you're in a rush, the food comes slow, no matter what it is. I could deal with that, even. But the last few times we have gone, we had to go up to the counter to ask about our coffee refills which had never come, ask for water refills, etc -- even when there are multiple members of staff on a slow day. Once the waitress actually dropped the bill -- after we had been waiting an hour -- not realizing our food had not even come out yet. You don't check on your table even ONCE in an hour, don't bring their food, and then you bring the bill? Please, please, please Della, just fix your service. Otherwise you would be PERFECT. Oh, and get that nice guy back who made the beautiful mochas!

Went for Sunday brunch. Super cute little cafe. Service started pretty slow, the guy who took our drinks order seemed to be wandering around for a while and while we were waiting for an ice tea and a coffee a different waitress came and took our order, then came back to check on why we didn't have drinks. Didn't have much/any veggie options so had to order something with meat in it and then ask that they not put the meat in which always makes me nervous. The food was good and we would likely eat here again sometime.

A "yelp" gold strike: Della Fattoria. Sunday morning, riding the bikes, scouting out breakfasts that satisfy . . . and what sealed our deal was bread. Correct. Bread. Crusty, crunchy, flavorful, home-baked type breads. Got there at opening, were seated quickly by Nicole, our attentive waitress. The restaurant is cozy, and by the time we left, filling up quickly. For good reason, the locals know. A stunning selection of breads and baked treats beckon. Jose brought a wonderful coffee adorned with a cream design gracing the top. Almost too cool to drink. Shirley had the Eggs Bennie with scratch Hollandaise and Asparagus, myself the Corned Beef Hash w/eggs. Suffice it to say, there were no leftovers, no "doggie" bag. What did come home were two loaves from the house bakery: a Semolina and a Kalamata Olive. (Kalamata Olive Bread toasted, then spread with regular cream cheese is a killer snack) It's important to note here that every staff person we interacted with: Server Nicole, Coffee Barista Jose, and Manager Kim were all not only pleasant, but took a few extra minutes to provide a level of care and service that you'll never, ever, find in a chain establishment. Not being rushed, excellent food, and a staff that understands that customer service, In the restaurant business, this is "added value". Those attributes certainly sell the idea of trying their "Ranch Dinners". So the five star rating here? To borrow a catchphrase from actor John Houseman, when he was promoting a firm, he observed that "They make money the old-fashioned way. They earn it" * * * Agreed.

Wow. Just amazing. I saw that Della Fattoria was in the running for Top 10 Bakery in Bon Appetit, and I actually missed it last year when I was in the wine country, so I made it a point to get around to it this time around. Additionally, who doesn't love a good ol' small town like Petaluma whilst among the wine growers of California. It is most definitely a cafe for "women who wine and dine", but I went with two other gentlemen, and we loved every bit of it. People seem to hang around, take it easy, and receive great service here. One of the best parts of a bakery is certainly the atmosphere. Pricing is steep, but you are paying for some very high quality combinations of flour, sugar, and water. I am pretty sure that yeast may be involved. The chocolate croissant was amazing, boasting a flakiness and butteriness unrivaled by most. The banana nut muffin was super crumbly. The currant walnut loaf was surprisingly shaped into a baguette. Their breads are super heavy and delicious... so good. Their actual preparation of food is done with just as much care as the baked goods. The salad was perfectly dressed with a light vinaigrette, and the olive they provide for bread is outstanding. Their little cheese crackers also greatly impressed. I don't know in what situation you would be using Yelp to find a "breakfast/lunch" cafe in the Petaluma area, but if you do happen upon my review, get to Della Fattoria ASAP.

Stop #1 on our Sunday drive. I had heard of Della Fattoria and was pleasantly surprised when my husband suggested we make it a part of our bread, cheese and cows tour of Petaluma. Located in the downtown section of town, parking can be somewhat problematic, especially on a busy holiday weekend. We parked on a back street (in front of Copperfields) and walked all the way around the block to the entrance. Too bad we didn't know about the back way in it would have saved a few steps, but since we haven't been to this part of town in a really long time, it was worth walking the long way around. It was already crowded when we arrived at mid-morning. Very small inside with the seating practically on top of each other. Good thing we were only coming for the bread. After looking at the selections, everything seemed to look exactly the same. Didn't see any samples like we saw at Wild Flour Bread so I had to just wing it when ordering. When asking the girl at the counter what a few of the loaves were, she didn't really seem to know, but gave an educated guess. I ended up ordering just a baguette and the whole wheat loaf. When we got home, we sampled the baguette only to discover that the loaf was burnt on the bottom. Also, it was supposed to be sourdough but it was a very mild sourdough, which I prefer. Two loaves of bread of which one was a baguette and the cost was $11.00. A little pricey for a burnt baguette and a loaf of whole wheat, some rude customers and a crowded establishment. 5/30/11 Update: Tasted the whole wheat loaf today. It was fantastic. I'm giving the place an extra star just for that. I was worried it was going to be dry and hard. However, I put it in a plastic loaf container and it stayed moist and soft! Loved it!

We love the tuna melt and find ourselves craving it. I give 4 stars because of this one sandwich, however, I must say the service is SLOW and the staff never acts as though they recognize us even though we are there a minimum of once a week? The sandwich is pricey $14, sometimes we share it if we go more than once per week (too costly). Ambiance is lovely and romantic.

I hate writing bad reviews after good ones, but I didn't expect such poor service if you sit outside. I read from other reviews that people were ignored if sitting outside. They're totally right. The server even said "I'm sorry for not being attentive to you". Don't order the Stacy breakfast... Who sells lettuce w eggs for breakfast?? But I ordered it so the jokes on me.

Linda at Della Fattoria baked our wedding cake, and unlike many wedding cakes, people raved about it, and couldn't stop eating it. We had 3 tiers, carrot, chocolate ganache and red velvet. We highly recommend Linda and Della Fattoria to any other couples planning their wedding or anyone who wants a delicious cake for any occasion. Thank you for helping make our amazing day complete with a stunning and divine dessert.

Never thought I liked corn beef until I had their corn beef hash! There food was super good, we went 2 mornings in a row. My boyfriend had the corn beef hash both days and I had the breakfast sandwich one day and the other the corn beef hash. Their coffee is amazing also!!! Staff is really sweet, place is hip and cozy and food is delish! Its a must try!! Just as a side note, their menu is small and they only serve poached eggs, I am not a runny yolk girl. But they did them well done, so no problems there!

Food is great, but service was a little disorganized. We ordered a special that stated 15 minutes preparation was more like 30. They comped a pastry that was to die for. Unfortunately was full by the time our special arrived. Was still good the next day for lunch.

The biscotti are now less than half the size they were in 2012 for the same price. To the baker: This is a major mistake. If you need to double the price of the product, then go ahead and do so. Do not just shrink the things to nuggets (my wife now calls them biscotti turds), which are sure to come out overcooked (as they now do).

YUM. Yes, the bread is ridiculously good, but their pastries are also well made and often creative. Soups and salads are deliciously simple, and service, though casual, is always competent. Basic, scrumptious food.

Three things happen each time I visit Della: 1) I eat more than I planned 2) I stay longer than I planned 3) (naturally) I spend more money than I planned Come here on your day off and slow down, rushing through a lunch here just seems like sacrilege. Service?? I believe there's a water pitcher for self-service and a bare-bones bathroom way in the back up three flights of stairs.

I adore this place. You can pretty much close your eyes, point to the menu, and you'll end up with a plate full of wonderful! The community ambience is great, the food is creatively tasty, their pastries are to die for, and the staff is always so nice. My absolute favorite dish is the tuna melt. The tuna melt, you ask? Definitively, yes. You don't understand, they use a type of pizza dough that is baked to a perfect crisp with a gooey inside. I actually went there today and they didn't have my fav (we drove all the way from Mill Valley for it), there was a mix up in the kitchen, etc etc. I actually thoroughly enjoyed my meal regardless (see previous close eyes and point comment) but they were so nice that they comped my meal and sent us home with a nice warm loaf of bread. Seriously, love this spot.

Service = non-existent. Gosh I sooooo want to give this place a better review. The potential is awesome but the end product, the experience, is miserable. The service is very very bad. I can't express enough how bad it is. My experience today ended with this conversation at the register... Her: "Can I get you something?" The waitress clearly didn't recognize me (even though she took my order over an hour ago). Me: "I'm sorry, but I placed an order awhile ago and it hasn't been brought out yet." Two different parties near me were served and brought their check by the time I finally had enough and got up from my seat. Her: "Ohhhh (recognizing me), they haven't brought it out yet?" Me: "Yeah, ummmm, I'm sorry but can I just pay for the coffee and go? Can you cancel the order, sorry?" (Why am I apologizing?). Her: "Are you sure, I can put in your order again?" (Part of me thinks she never put the order into the system). Me: "No, I have to go pretty soon so I'll just pay for the coffee, thank you." (I didn't really have to go...I was embarrassed, I hate this kind of thing). She then offered me a free pastry to go - on the house - and then collected the $2.43 for my cafe americano. I told her it was no big deal and that she didn't need to worry about it. I smiled and went about my day, still hungry, wanting more coffee and thoroughly disappointed. My experience begs the question(s)...why is a place that is so revered by locals and tourist magazines so bad in service? why is good, quality service so hard to come by these days? Did I mention she offered me free pastries while collecting for my coffee...uhhhhhhhhh? Uugghhh...brutal. I might give Della one more shot. They are nice people and the ambiance is great. The service absolutely has to improve...ok, one more shot.

One of my favorite places in Petaluma. I initially fell in love with Della when I had their spaghetti but it was a once in a long while type of dish. Other dishes are great but overshadowed by that amazing spaghetti. Service is sub par but it is not terrible. I don't mind it.

Came here with a friend that has been here before, it was early in the morning and packed. Small quaint little breakfast spot. The food was pretty good. Momosas were expensive $10, eek! Croque Madame and it was pretty good. You get a lot. I ended up ordering a latte which comes in a soup bowl its that big, I couldn't finish it. I was stuffed for most of the day after eating here. Sat at the community table. Service was nice. servers were nice. Again they get busy in the morning so be patient. My bill was $50 after all was said and done and that was my plate dish, 2 momosas and a latte. Expensive but would go back since it was cute and nice.

Fresh, very expensive food but the worst service on the planet. The bread is fabulous but Bread and menu items are often sold out by mid morning. Pastries are just ok. It might take 30 minutes for a simple sandwich to come out of the kitchen even when they are not crowded. Plan a leisurely breakfast or lunch because you might be there for 2 hours waiting and waiting and waiting. For Friday night dinners, expect a menu that doesn't change much, very lackluster service, and some occasionally bizarre staff antics. I just don't think anyone here cares about the customers and it shows. I thought I must have gone on a bad day and gave it several tries over the last few months but the service was consistently so uncaring that customers were talking about it to each other and I see it here in other reviews.

There is no denying that the food here is really sublime. We popped in here on a tablehopper recommendation after doing some early morning work on a local goat farm. We arrived in time for breakfast, but they are definitely strict about the breakfast vs. lunch time. I ordered the ham & cheese bread pudding with a side salad (the side salad is apparently a misprint that was not mentioned when I ordered. Luckily, my bf is a stickler & got me my side salad). It was heavenly. When it arrived I thought it looked a little small, but given the decadence, was totally appropriately sized. However, something so rich really needs another item (like a side salad!) to balance out the flavors and give your mouth a break. Our cappuccinos were delightful. Our water glasses stood empty for most of the meal and were not refilled. We were not checked on by the staff and frankly I wasn't clear if we had a dedicated server or not. Our food took quite some time to arrive. The table next to us arrived at least 10 minutes after us and received their food about 10 minutes before ours. So the service was definitely lacking. Everyone was friendly enough, but I felt a little forgotten. I wavered between the 3 and 4 star on this one. We'll be back in Petaluma this coming Sunday and I hope to visit Della Fattoria again. There's much more menu to explore, breads I'd like to take home and service I'm hoping is slightly more delightful.

Seems like most reviewers have said it already, they make f'n awesome bread. Friend cobbled together a bbq. If you can piece together Browns Valley Market grilled sausages, with Tenbrink heirloom tomatoes, and Gioa Burrata on Della Fattoria bread, it's going to be all types of awesome. 4.5 stasrs
