YUCK!! Save your money and do not go to this place. Everything had an rotten old stale taste to it. The BBQ pork tasted extremly spoiled. The prime rib was so tough and dry that we could not even carve the slice off the roast. The roast almost bounced off the cutting board and fell on the floor. The tempura batter did not have a good flavor and tasted like they fried it in flour only. All the other dishes were so bad that I was only able to eat the white rice. I thought I would fill up on deserts since everything else tasted so bad but no luck. The cream puffs and other pasteries tasted old and the ice cream from the dispenser was watery and tasted bad. You can tell that the ice cream machine had not been cleaned out for some time and that is a health hazard. I thought I would try the jello because there is no way you could mess up water and powder. But guess what?? The jello tasted like they either made it from water from the toilet bowls or they used old out dated jello packets. I think these restaurant owners go to the dumpsters to get the food for their restaurant. It also could be that they buy food products that are way past the expiration date and that is why it taste so old and spoiled. About twenty minutes after I left the restaurant the stomach pains started to kick in and I was not sure if I was going to land up in the emergency room with stomach poinsening. I do not know why restaurants like this are allowed to stay open. So, so dangerous....

Been here multiple times for dinner. Food is good depending what day or time you go. Few times was great when they check the food but sometimes they leave the food to dry out. Same thing with the steak sometimes is great but sometimes its all bloody red. I wish they're more consistent with their food, thats why I rate them A-OK.

Seriously, compared to the other Zen Buffet in Rosemead, this place is GOLDEN. I was quite content with my dinner here with PapaBear on Friday night. We had 15% off which made it that much better ! Me and the pops had a HUUUGE craving for seafood and were about to make a drive out to Morongo for their Seafood Buffet, but luckily, we called and found out that Seafood is only on Thursday nights ! Pheww.. Good thing we didn't drive all the way out there just to find that out or I would have busted a cap on a foo. (LOLL I never understood how that expression went so please don't be offended if I'm using it wrong !) Anyway, after debating what we should eat for 2 hours (Yes, it literally took us that long to decide.) we ruled out Boiling Crab because by that time we were starving and would have thrown a bitch fit if we had to wait another hour to just to be seated. The inside looked very clean and well organized. No crazy Asians and their kids running around and making the aisles between the buffet tables all compact and squishy like at the Rosemead location. (I seriously hate it over there because its excessively loud for no reason and kids are just running around everywhere EVERY NIGHT. It makes gives the place a very cheap feel to it.) The best part about this location? The crab legs were refilled RIGHT AFTER it had emptied ! So you didn't have to wait like 1927432398234 hours for ONE PIECE of crab leg ! The sushi actually looked good enough to eat here as well ! I usually don't go for the Asian stuff cos I know I can get the better stuff in SG for wayy cheaper, so I literally had my fill of seafood ! Crab legs, oysters, clams and SUSHIII ! And to finish off a great meal I took a plate to the fruit bar and filled it up with all sorts of goodness (Dude, this stuff was ACTUALLY FRESH !) and then took a soup bowl over to the chocolate fountain and filled it up to the top. (Pretty sure I wasn't supposed to do that LOLL. Oh well.) I hadn't eaten that much food since the last time i was in Vegas at the Rio Seafood Buffet ! Go Zen ! (:

I guess it's harder to gauge the merits of a buffet since you're gonna be stuffing yourself with everything, and if a part of it doesn't meet your expectations it'll make an impact on your score. Same with this review; however, this being a buffet, my expectations for the food aren't that high to begin with. As typical of a buffet, some of the food sucks but some of it ranges any where from pretty good to good. Take for example the "Walnut" Shrimp which was kind of fail since it tasted like 15% of what it's supposed to (for one, no walnuts - though i don't mind- and the absence of any mayo flavor). Then take something like the sushi - which wasn't bad, certainly a bit skimpy on the portions as typical of a buffet, but decently good. In other words the food is a toss up. But as for the good parts that I can recommend - sesame balls (nom), heard the teppanyaki was pretty good, and as for everything else - try it yourself :) To add to it, they're pretty stingy on the coupons since nothing is stackable (i.e. two seniors + 6 adults: you can use the 50% off coupon for an adult meal for every third adult up to 6 people. However, you can't use the 10% off senior discount since the above already counts as a coupon). To be truthful, this place for me is a pretty average Chinese buffet, hence the 3. Though their price makes this place slightly less appealing and I wouldn't stray far from the average review of 2.5 this place scores.

Have been here twice for lunch, but not going back. They do have a large selection of food, well that is if you like everything fried and over-seasoned. They have a very small selection of healthy food, the rolls they have available are few and not very great, i don't think any of them are made with real fish. Most of the rolls are either vegetables or imitation crab. Their salads consist of plain lettuce, which both times i went it was not fresh. Their desserts although they have decent stock are not fresh, even when they keep some in the fridge. And the worst part the HOSTESS ARE HORRIBLE, they have 0 customer service skills, and should not be dealing with public. They get overwhelmed with a few customers up the front and are so RUDE. I would strongly suggest to management to re-train your hostess, after all that is the first impression your customers will have and probably the longer lasting since they the food is not that memorable.

you can't beat the price, but don't expect a friendly staff! It takes getting up and going over to the server to get a drink refill... and then usually they fill it half way! Lots of dirty looks, etc. I think they are really understaffed. The food is fresh and replaced quickly too.

  • Allen N.

Actually not that bad. They have a good selection at a moderate price if you use a coupon. Pluses for this place is the sushi, crab legs, and the soups. The soups are killer. The chinese soups are spot on for example the ginseng and chicken soup actually tastes like the ingredients and it's not thickened with corn starch like other places. Overall I give this place a 3.5.

  • R T.

If you like a variety, this is your go to place. Duck, frog legs, Mongolian, crab legs, sushi, sashimi, prime rib, salads, soup, tempura, candied walnut shrimp, and a chocolate fountain, and more. All are good and the price is really fair. Can't go wrong here. There is something for everyone!

Went there with the family last sunday and i have to say it is one of the best buffet food in san gabriel valley. They have a wide selection of entree and everything taste so good. All of the food has it's own taste unlike other buffet were almost everything taste the same. We will definetely come back to this place.

Ate here Saturday, while in town. I give it a 4 for food selection, as there was an excellent selection of seafood (sashimi sushi, crab legs, oysters, clams, etc) and other Asian dishes. The major detraction from this place is that the serving plates were wet (just were washed and not dried, perhaps?). Attention to detail will get this place some higher marks.

  • Jim S.

I go here at least once a month for dinner. The food is good but not great. For the price its wonderful as if you east sushi and sashimi you get a lot of bang for your buck. They have fresh tuna, salmon, scallops. This is a buffet so service is ok they clear the plates and bring refils in a timely manner. Dinner has crab legs, salmon, frog legs on the weekend.

Something's about this place are good. Some of the food is great. After two visits though I can't get past how all the plates and silverware never feel very clean (like they didn't use soap). Makes me wonder about other shortcuts they are taking out of my view.

as an asian person, im not big on going to buffets of asian food. just seems like massive culture cop out. anyways, pricewise, definitely not worth it, even as a buffet. only cool thing was the tepanyaki, which was slightly above mediocre. sushi rolls were clean looking, had a few, but didnt spark anything worth going back for seconds. sashimi didnt look to my taste, but others seemed to enjoy it. salad bar was way below par. other foods they had were chinese pan fried dishes of chicken and beef, some dim sum like bao (bread with stuff inside), fries, chicken skewers, ny strip steaks, cha siu, sticky rice. desserts included chocolate fountain, fruit, and some froyo which was pretty gross. drinks are two bucks for fountain drinks, so no terrible, but i prefer water anyways_: the food was a tad salty so i was just really thirsty. not a lot of selection and variety that looked good. but not a terrible place, just not really my type.

This place is as good as it gets outside of vegas :). Nothing beats vegas! but their sushi is surprisingly good for a buffet and I thought the prime rib was good. A chocolate fountain is never a bad thing also X)

I rarely give 4 out of 5 stars to any buffet restaurants but this is one is worth a try. The food selections are quite diverse and they taste pretty fresh. They waiters/waitresses are very polite and attentive when your plates should be taken off from table.

I have heard from my friends that this Monrovia branch is better than Rosemead location, so I went here for lunch with group of friends. First thing i noticed here was it was the location used to be the famous Italian franchise Macaroni Grill before and this restaurant adopted the nice environment, but that was about the only good thing about it. The lunch food we had was horrible, from baked salmon to beef, they are all overcooked. You know how the beef taste like when they are overcooked, its just... Even though the environment was nice, but the witnesses were not. They were lazy it took them 10 minutes to refill your drinks every time and we had to take away the dishes ourselves. I think they are understaffed. We came here around 2:30 pm, and they began taking away all the lunch items around 3:30 and they will NOT let you have dinner items. Once the dinner items out, every time you take a item, you need to ask the staff and make sure that it is not dinner items, otherwise the staff that work there will criticize you for not knowing like you work there, the attitude the staff gave was ridiculous, it made you feel like you owe them money or something. They charged you full price for the lunch buffet and took away the lunch items and did not gave any discounts. But of course, the attitude the staff gave us took away some tips.

Well its a buffet... Nothing compared to Vegas ones ... But.. I have to say there sushi is pretty good... Its simple and fresh...there bbq bar is,pretty good too... So when ur hungry and want a cheap lunch this is the place to goo.. Ohh, they have coupons on there website ... overall a good lunch

Went there on Thursday night with 3 friends. All 4 of us got stomachaches after dinner. Their foods aren't clean. And poor service.

  • Janet W.

I went there 2 months ago. We had more than ten people with reservation. They seat us at where is very hard to get out. Food was pretty good as I remember, especially sushi and steaks. Point off for their service, the waitress pretty much doesn't speak or understand english. Luckily, some of us can speak Mandarin. Price was reasonable. Worth a try!

Like most Asian food buffets, this place isn't really that great. Most of the food is pretty bland, greasy looking, and looks a bit scary to eat at times. It looks like there's a lot of variety, but I felt like I got bored real fast there. There is sushi however, and that was a bright spot. However, it was only okay. Kind of skimpy to be honest. There's only so much rice you can serve with sushi before rice with some fish on it. Crab legs: if you like to eat crab legs, I guess you can enjoy that. The crab leg supply is refreshed pretty frequently, so if you're a big crab person, you can eat your fill here. They also serve oysters, but they seem to take forever to refill that. Also, deserts are pretty much mediocre and are nothing special. The only thing unique about it is that you have access to a chocolate fountain. A fun thing in theory; an annoyance when kids are splashing liquid chocolate on each other and everything else.

This place was horrible!! At first I was excited too see all the food but it tasted real shitty! Tempura batter was thick and gross , crab legs were watery , the big prime rib was completely raw inside and the Chinese guy next to me was going to town on it? It was not worth the money!!!

I been this place so many time and this place is the best buffet in San Gabriel , Monrovia and Arcadia . there is a lot of buffet with over price than this place and they serve limited food than here . This place they give consumer more selection include , Chinese and Japanese and American BBQ . But got to understand they was a more Chinese cooking style , so they not to traditional in the other cooking style , but I still give this place for 5 star from what they done . and if you need coupon they always available in they website so no need to to wait the flyer send to your home :)

Their buffet selection was okay ~ 1. Service wise - SLOW 2. Servers/Staff - RUDE 3. Price - they can do better Verdict: A thumb's down!

I will never ever come here again. I've been to another Zen Buffet and that one is actually pretty decent but the one in Monrovia is disgusting. First of all, the plate I grabbed from the "clean plates" still had food on it. I'm not saying it was covered in left over food but it had a pretty noticeable amount of dried sauce and other unknown stains. Second, some of the food was cold. I understand that its been sitting out for a bit, but c',mon, it shouldn't taste like it's been sitting in the fridge all day. Lastly (my favorite), I found two different bugs in two different dishes (meat and dessert). It isn't even very likely to find ONE bug in a dish at a decent restaurant but to find TWO? really? I will never come here again.

Oh ... My ... God ... DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE EVER TASTED REAL ASIAN FOOD/ SEAFOOD. almost everything isn't fresh and is very oily. Dessert option is limited. The yogurt is okay, and so is the fruit, but maybe cause they bought them from somewhere else. The teppanyaki which is actually Mongolian BBQ is okay with pretty quick service.

This place is alright, the food were decent. It wasn't too good, but it wasn't too bad. It was just right. Not enough varieties though, but they have a chocolate fountain which was pretty cool. The weekend price is definitely not worth it because it was 18 dollars, but other than that it was alright.

If you like seafood and enjoy great food on a beer budget (17.99 Lunch), this is a great place for the whole family carpet crawlers and all. They keep the food plentiful and replenished. I love crab legs myself and I never had wait for a refill. Sushi carved meat oyster cooked and uncooked. Fried foods, and fish fried fresh! Yogurt ice cream and fondue and just to add just a little bit of zest the desserts are just delicious. Personally the service was great but remember your going to a place where you MOSTLY SERVE YOURSELF. Oh and it's pretty inside and CLEAN!!!! VERY CLEAN. Hope the review works for you. See you on the buffet line! FYI I'll be the guy with the plate full of crab legs. Yum!

We came here for dinner. The food looked ok not until we saw the chef, he was cutting the sushi in pieces, then grab it with his hand and put it on the serving plate. That gross me out, unsanitary. My daughter is five, all her had was some grapes and a gless of water, we paid $7.50 for her meal. They need to evaluate the price, $15.99 for dinner on weekday, the food is poorly prepared. The busboy was quick to collect the empty plates. I might come back and give them a second chance. As we were leaving, there was a couple complaining to the manager, I didn't hear the whole conversation, something was said about the price and the food quality.

Finally came here since its opening. They seem to be missing some items. Most tasted good but a few were too salty. The dessert selection is small too but they did have good mocha and chocolate cake. The strawberry yogurt was good.Service was pretty good.

My husband and I have been here several ties, and each time it has been terrible. The only thing I liked was the chow mein. Plus it is expensive even with the coupon. I would rather give it a 0 than a 1 The buffet before this was way better. Won't recommend this place to anybody.

I'm usually not a big fan of buffets, but this place was recommended to me by several of my friends. The staff was very courteous. The food is what is expected for a buffet. Every type of Asian dish. Chinese, sushi, seafood, crab legs, prime rib, Tempura, fresh fruit and salad bar along with a chocolate fountain. The vanilla frozen yogurt does not go well with the chocolate hardshell (which was supposed to be the fountain). Good for the price. Service was excellent. They cleaned off your table so often. They came by regularly to see if you needed anything. All in all very good. I would come back.

    (4)
  • Ronney L.

Not bad for the price. You get what you pay for. Haven't been to the one in Rosemead but I hear this one is a step up from it. Just look out for their buy one get one half off deals and it'll make the experience worth it.

yerp, so i came here sunday night with my familia. this was my first time here, &my feelings at first towards Zen was kinda, meh. The street Huntington has to be one of the most poppin places to open a restaurant, especially an Asian buffet! This place is huge, nahmean! The service is nice here, always checking up on you. Huge selection of food, which is good. You will definitely find me at the sushi bar! good selection, forsure. that kinda made Zen alitttttle more appealing to me, yup hard to get! hahahahah. They have a station where the chefs can cook your meat on the spot, which is prutty nice. omg the price is super unattractive! there's no lunch deals on Sundays.i think we'll only come back if we get more coupons! hahah. waddup!

Good service and clean. The food is above average compared to other buffet places. I would give it a 3.5 stars, but my kids vote for 4 stars.

Went for my father's birthday party today, food was fresh, as was the seafood, and I was certainly full at the end with all the different things I wanted to try. The atmosphere was a little nauseous and ventilation could use Improvment, for I had to step out a couple times to clear my head. The chocolate fountain was a definite plus, as was the teppanyaki and sushi bar. They were able to ake n 20 people in such short notice, it surprised me. Out door has a nice lounge waiting area with clean couches and cipushions, very comfortable.

Went there with the kids today because they mailed us some coupons and we were curious about this new buffet that just opened up. It was crowded because they have a "reservation" that took up 2/3 of the whole restaurant! So everyone was greeted with a possible 1 hour wait. ... Note to management! When you mail advertising coupons that have a 2-3 weeks expiration to everyone around your place... DO NOT hold a store opening party or whatever it was for Saturday Night! Great first impression... The only two tasty items was the cooked oyster and seaweed salad. Everything else were way below average (comparing to other buffets). I don't expect much of their sushi, but I am sure the "chefs" squeezed 2-3 nigiri's worth of rice into one. They have the heaviest sushi that I have ever picked up. Not going to comment on the one that I tasted... The prime rib is also protected by leather armor (they did not remove the membrane) and dull knife. I had to really force it to slice some for my wife. She usually likes her steak well done, and still finds it tough to chew. While going for seconds, I noticed the "clean" plates are dirty! There are left over wasabi and food stuck on the "clean" pile. Yuck! For the price they charge, how can they let this happen? Only reason that it is a 2 stars and not a 1, is because the waiters are pretty nice and tried their best. If only they are cleaner and learn how to cook. Will not go again even if it is for free. Adding update... Dropping it down to 1 Star! Both my wife and daughter now have bellyaches.

Good parking, perfect for a fast but filling lunch at a good price. Food was hot and all trays are kept full during the lunch time. I went there mid week and got great drink service.

OMG OMG All you can eat sushi deleciously displayed with other classic Asian dishes. too many to name them all but please go or $12 U cannot go wrong, How often how easy how may how many hows can I come up with. You just cannot find good all you can eat sushi. I live in Hollywood and there is nothing near me but Woodland Hills, Monrovia, Long Beach San Gabriel and Rosemead no where near BUT I had a job where I worked so far twice in Monrovia and twice I ate there, THe second time I brought a camera and took many pictures. The food was displayed so well. I had to I had to facebook it. I think I love Zen Buffet and we only met twice BUT If I could marry an all youcan eat restaurant and live there inside it Well Ladies and Gents this is the one. Dont question it I mean I just had dinner at a very nice High End Asain restaurant and said NO to the sushi section when for $4.99 apiece I mean why would you even???? Sooo I didn't I put the sushi menu away and had something else from Asakuma Rice Asain Cuisine in W. Hollywood.

decent food for the type of buffet it was. not sure i would come back though given the price $18 for dinner and the selection didn't seem to be too great goods: - they had sushi (not great sushi and lots of them had weird sauces on them, but still sushi) - walnut shrimp was really good, probably my favorite thing they had there - chocolate fountain for dessert - pinkberry type frozen yogurt (tart flavor and strawberry. i felt the strawberry was much better bads: - the bbq pork (red one like at panda express) was super dry and flavor was kinda ehh - they had duck, but it was very dried out, almost jerky from sitting under the head lamps - the crab was a waste, very water, no flavor - desserts were kinda ehhh, just fluffy pastries that didnt' taste great (unless you cover them in chocolate from the fountain haha) - rice for the sushi was goupy stick - waiter was stupid and slow (waited till we asked for more drink before filing instead of asking if we wanted more, then he only took one cup at a time and didn't take others until each person asked him, and he kept reaching across me to get my finished plates instead of coming around me) - overall most of the food was bland i think i would rather spend half the money and go to hometown buffet to be honest, or spend the extra $7 and go to todai which i feel is much better (and it isn't very far from here). i can say i have tried it, but i don' think i will be returning

I know there's no point in writing a review of this place. Most everyone that goes here knows what they're getting into before they walk in: Lots of food; mediocre sushi; crab legs; maybe you'll get lucky and find one really good dish. But the thing is, for a little while, Zen Buffet Monrovia actually seemed to greatly exceed expectations. I've eaten here at least a dozen times since they opened. The first several visits were very impressive. Great service (no dirty dish sat on my table for more than 5 minutes) and good food (sushi was actually fresh; seafood was well-prepared). But steadily the place has gone downhill. Now the waiters go out of their way to ignore you; the managers will fight with you over the wording of their coupons; the sushi is getting a bit funky and lacks variety. The only thing that I still really like is their "Tepanyaki" AKA Mongolian BBQ. It's fresher than what you get at most Mongolian BBQ places because the meats are not frozen. FYI, they don't take American Express.

This Zen Buffet has a nice variety of food, and the price is pretty nice. Definitely beats the Zen Buffet in Temple City on Rosemead Blvd.

Caution, you are about to enter a rip off zone. $26 per head for Mother's Day dinner buffet, before tax, tip and drinks. This is ridiculous. Their food is not that great either.

I remember when it was Pioneer Point..that place was whack,it didn't last very long either!!!! LOL I think it was a really smart idea to open Zen here because the place gets alot of business and almost always packed. I really like this place for some reason. I've been here quite a few times since it opened. The food is really fresh and they have a good mix of choices. In some respects the quality is on the same level as with Vegas/CA casino buffets. Not same as far as quantity of course. Their desserts aren't that great except the chocolate fountain, iif you have room to partake. Usually when I come here I load up on the sashimi, sushi, fresh fruit/veggies,crab legs, prime rib and chow mein&some pork dish. Some things are hit&miss and I don't really hit the part of the buffet where the pizza&fries are next to the dumplings&sticky rice. They also have mongolion grill there but I've never tried. Tonight it was so packed, most tables full in there but not too crazy where the food is. The only thing that annoyed me is the waitress put the check on the table way before we were going to leave. I mean hello just because we're taking a break doesn't mean we're ready to leave. Another thing is they can be ghetto with how they apply coupons&discounts.

one of the good ones i find close my home. the environment is good; all decors are brand new. i love their seafood items; it's fresh and tasty! i don't know why the feedback is so low, but if you like seafood, you should try it out ~ (dinner time)

If you are a fan of "all you can eat" I imagine you'll like this place. I wasn't too thrilled. I find buffets to be kind of toxic to my system, and a potpourri of salt laden Asian food is even worse. Nothing I tasted made me want to go back for more, typical cafeteria style Asian food. I think I drank 2 quarts of ice water when I was there. If you want Quantity... this is your place. If you want Quality, forget about it. I noticed a large number of horizontally challenged people eating there.. Enough said.

Had lunch today, and Zen Buffet remains one of my favorite Asian buffets. The sushi was excellent, and most of the stir fry dishes were pretty good. The Thai soup was a nice change from the usual hot and sour. But the service was pretty indifferent. We ordered hot tea at extra cost, and we had to find someone to refill the the tea pot. We had a 50% off coupon on the second meal, so we ended up paying under $18 including beverages.

I would have rated it a half a star if I could. We were very disappointed. Food was sub par as was the service. They were not very friendly and when I asked to speak with the manager (Ken) he was too busy talking on his cell to speak with me. I should have gone to my usual place in Hastings Ranch by the bowling alley!

  • Nik N.

Place was clean but extremely limited selection. Crab legs were so thin and they did not refill the empty tray. Crawfish was so tiny and in ice. They had alot of fast food selection. I liked the macaroons for dessert. We had a buy one adult get one half off coupon, otherwise not really worth it. Service was good. I believe price is $17.99.

I recomend this place to anyone who wants a buffet thats on a diet because as soon as you try the food you are no longer gonna want to eat anymore. I'm not one to be hard on a new business but this place was awful. Being that it's new and seems to be surprisingly crowded me and my friend decided to try it even though it had a 20 min wait and it was 18 bucks plus drink. Again you would think it would be half way decent for that kind of money. Lets go down the list.. First they sat us in this back around a blind corner I almost got slamed by the staff and others several times in there rush and it has one way in and one way out. Other Yelpers have complained about this as well so I'm not the only one. Second Along the wall theres tons of gross used dishes just piling up. Just what I want to see as I'm walking back and fourth to my seat. The food is less then average and we were there on saturday which is when they have the best foods out so they say. The Prim Rib wasnt even cooked, the sushi don't even bother trying it cause you would be more satisfies with the pre made at ampm gas station over this. Tried the duck and it had had more fat then meat on it. Some freak even decided to take the whole tray of crab rangon or what ever that junk is back to there table. Seriously the tray and they let them no problem who needs a plate any ways right haha. Only thing this place gets one star for is the chocolate fountain thing that was good on top of the soft serve stuff but even that had a huge mess of chocolate from kids all over the front of it.. I can bag on this place all day but all I can say is don't go cause you will be disapointed for sure. it sucks, its 's over priced, pretty much gets the award for worst Yelp Ive done out of all my reviews and I have over 100.

TERRIBLE SERVICE. They wanted to charge me a dinner buffet price even though I was told by the hostess that we would be charged lunch price. This was at 3:25, so they said eat whats out there, and wait till 4. Then you can continue to eat. Stay away at all costs.

I'm a bit confused why some people were so bitter and harsh to this restaurant . I ate there twice for lunch and three times for dinner and I found them very much acceptable. The roast duck and the BBQ pork are even better than Sam Woo or any other Chinese BBQ place that I have ever visited. The sushi bar serves quite plenty of choices. All the food are very fresh due to heavy change over. The service is excellent when they are not quite busy. The price is not cheap for those who are used to eat at Mc D. but they are reasonably priced considering today's food cost. The only reason they did not get five star from me is because the waiting time during the food change over (on the roast duck) a bit longer than I anticipated but it's worth the wait.

We walk in to the zen buffet with mixed emotions. Were excited to try something new, but bummed that pioneer point had to go. We go in on a Friday night around 7:30 for dinner. While in line we watch the sushi masters work their magic. They were amazing as well as the gentleman working their teppan grill. Having said that I was utterly disappointed and disgusted with the buffet. Honestly I felt like there was more food on the floor then there was in the actual buffet... No lie! The wait staff was completely overwhelmed, and they had alot of empty trays in the buffet. When we were sat, our table was not cleaned off yet, and little chunks of food were scattered all over the floor leading from their disposal area about 30 feet from our table. We were surrounded by families who were just as disappointed as we were. Food was sub par (except for teppan and sushi- those guys know what they were doing and why I gave them two stars instead of 1), plates were hard to find, and when we did they were wet and not completely cleaned. The only thing that kept us from walking out was that fact that I already put food on my plate, and felt like I had to pay for what I had already. Our family are long time visitors of their sister location in San Gabriel and we all truly believe that this location gives the company a bad name. I am even considering making a phone call to someone in the health inspector department because if I were part of them, I would have shut the place down. Save your money and go to one of the other close locations.

Had dinner at Zen Buffet this past Wednesday and the food was decent. The Mongolian BBQ was the best thing they had going on and the chef who cooked the steaks did a good job. I'm wary of eating seafood at buffets because of past experiences, so I didn't try any of the sushi or seafood. All in all, I had a good experience and I didn't get sick.

The food here is not great, BUT it's better than other buffet places in the nearby area. The employees are very nice. For those who complain about food poisoning or diarrhea, check with your doctor, you probably have lactose intolerance. That's what I have and I don't mess with their desserts.
