I've eaten here for year, the food is great. I especially like the mocha pearl drink. Don't be discouraged by the area, you will not get shot. As for price, you can't really beat 5.99-7.99 for a meal, fast food cost more.

Another Pho, that my little family and I enjoy coming to when we are in the area. It's a little small, and like another review said it can get pretty stuffy especially when you are like me and are craving some Soup even on a hot 100 degree day. But legit they have flavorful broth and of course the yummy spicy chili sauce on the table! heey!! their spring rolls are yummy and fresh enough and of course I have to get their egg rolls. I have also tried their pork chop plates and those pack tons of flavor but wish it had more rice. And note, they are always closed on mondays and sometimes randomly during the week. best bet ti call and see if they are open cuz i have driven here on a friday night and they were closed before

The best way to put this in a review is to really be honest. Customer service was blah. Food was tasteful but.... I just wondered why the hell I was there still and trying to make the biggest mistake of my life by eating their food. This place is very dirty. Disgusting. I don't understand how health department hasn't knocked on their doors yet and shut this place down. You just don't get that good feeling whwn you want to eat here. You keep thinking they are using probably dogs meat or some kind of crazy crap. You will regret stepping into this place ***editted*** Btw, for the discrimination police officers on yelp who got offended by my comment, piss off. I don't know where the hell you got the discrimination part from unless you are paranoid or got no damn life. I'm an immigrant just like your ass is. There is no discrimination just sarcasm and I'm not sorry if you are offended. Build a damn bridge and get over it. I'm entitled to my freedom of speech. I didn't use any racial references so therefore educate yourself before you make an ass out of yourself.

Great food. Pho pork egg rolls and spicy beef plate. Tip clean environment with a/c so wear sweater or order spicy food. :)

The food is delicious, the wait time is minimal, & the service meets expectations. I enjoyed eating here; however, next time I think I'll order my meal to-go. I suggest you give it a shot if you are hungry:)

Dirty place. The grouchy guy who is the worker or the owner is so RUDE. I've asked for the extra basil leaf for my noodles, he said "NO, it's expensive. This is it. If you need more go buy it at the market across the street". Unbelievable!!!!! I've never experienced anything like this at the restaurant. Quite sure I'll not going back.

I have been worried about trying this place due to location looking a bit yucky. But came on here, saw some good reviews and am so happy we did. I have tried 4 other pho places in Modesto. 2 were horrible. 1 downtown and this one are far superior. Great Tai. Good pork chops. Generous amounts of food. The broth and freshness of meat were perfect. Yes they don't speak GREAT English, but I'm patient and it didn't bother me. I came here expecting "ok" food. But was very happy! Definite repeat! Price was great. I have 4 kids we ate for less than $40 + tip of course! And the place was clean, so don't let the neighborhood scare you off!

I've been here several times over the past few months. Pho is yummy, and service has always been good. The only thing that can be improved is the decor; the place is a bit dingy and is in a sad strip mall, containing a nail salon called "Clawz". Yes. Spelled with a 'z'. It doesn't bug me too much because I'm too busy shoving food in my face to notice.

I really love this place. The man who owns the place is very friendly. I come here whenever I get the chance. Especially since this is my boyfriends childhood place. I always get the number 1 because it has everything in the pho. I recommend going to this place.

Sorry for all of you people out there!!!the staff was really nice, but the pho was nasty & soup had nasty ass sprimp!!!!!

I came in yesterday with my family and didnt leave so happy. First of all the customer service was not there. They are not friendly or attentive. We had to flag one of the down to ask for more limes. The chick replied with a sour attitude "How many you want?" and we said 6 pieces and then she throws a oh by the way they are 25 a piece. I mean that fricken sucks. I have never had to pay extra for limes but I think it made it more annoying because you could tell she just had a bad attitude. Then she brings them back and we were soo upset. They had originally brought out lemons that were cut into 1/4 ths. Well what she brought back were lemons she cut those 1/4ths into 1/8ths. That was sooo shady! That alone made us not enjoy our food which was pretty good. Take your money else where people! Where you will feel that they want your business.

The pho was awesome!!! :) Very delicious! But the place is very stuffy and hot! Which made it really hard to enjoy their delicious soup :(

  • Christa V.

Had my first taste of this place a while back. I've only had their combination fried rice, and pork egg rolls. Both are delicious. The fish sauce goes great with the egg rolls, but it's good by itself too. Never ate there, always had it pre ordered and picked up. (Lunch during work)

  • B H.

This place is an absolute shame to customer service. They are so RUDE, yelling at customers if they don't know how to read Vietnamese. I agree with a lot of reviews that the food is pretty good but you can find surprises such as little wriggling visitors in your salads. If you are like me and don't wear your glasses while you're eating, you are probably taking in some extra meat and proteins !!!! The place is filthy.

For that one person talking about pho 7 having cockroaches is a LIE I been eating here for years . And I haven't seen a thing all . All the employees that served me was very nice and welcoming, if you don't have anything nice to say than don't put a rude false comment . This place is very good and the best pho in town in my opinion

    (5)
  • Mike P.

Love this place except for the "shrimp poo" learn to clean your shrimp correctly! ! Been coming here for years and it never fails there's always poop in the shrimp!! I'll keep coming back but will not get shrimp in my soup anymore! !

  • Natalia M.

I was upset and ordered spring rolls to go and they gave me the packaged one you get from the Asian supermarket. I wouldn't be upset if it tasted fresh and good. Their pho, in comparison to a place in Sacramento, is very bland and has barely anything in there seafood pho . So its very rare if i go there these days...

IMO, this is the best Pho in Modesto. Of course, it's a shithole place in a run-down strip mall. The interior is shabby and the kitchen would make Gordon Ramsey fly into a expletive-spewing rage. However the Pho is excellent, the portions large, and the spring/shrimp rolls are always fresh. The soup bowls are so frigging huge you could actually backstroke within the bowl. For 7 bucks it's a helluva meal. It's also served by traditional, non-emotional, un-engaging Vietnamese folks so there's that. At least it's authentic. If you aren't an uppity rich white person, check this place out. Oh yeah, like most restaurants in Modesto, this place closes EARLY. Like 8pm on a Friday night. /shrug

  • Umar G.

Whilst the restaurant was spotless and the waitress was really sweet and friendly, I wasn't too enthused about the Pho. It seemed a little too dense for my taste, and the MSG really came through. Its not that I like my pho delicate, but this was just too heavy (for me) for pho. They do give you a decent portion size for the Vietnamese spring rolls, but again, too much rice noodle , and not enough shrimp. I think this one misses the boat in my book.

Food is excellent! Not the fanciest of places but definitely great food and service is fast.

Pho 7 has always been my go-to place in Modesto for pho. The various options in Modesto don't differ much in the way of flavor, but what Pho 7 lacks in uniqueness it makes up for with convenience and variety. The menu is rather large, although I admittedly haven't tried anything here besides the pho and the mongolian beef. However, if you're going with someone who's weary of trying the soup, they should have no problem finding something else on the menu that they'll enjoy. The service here, like any other pho house, is minimal, but that's how it should be. With that in mind, they have always been quick to take my order and will provide anything extra that you ask for without any fuss. Pho 7 may not be revolutionary, but it's a solid, reliable option which has always kept me coming back.

I enjoyed the chicken ginger rice plate. There hot sauces weren't hot enough and the help was rude. I have tried other places in town and this one is not the worst. Decent food and poor location.

  • Laura P.

This place has been here for ages. Food is good for the most part for Modesto. The service is on and off as sometimes the owner is nice and other times a bit rude in an awkward sorta way. Rice plates can be inconsistent. Best thing about this place would be the Pho and the worst would be the inconsistency on the rice plates. Been here maybe 30 times being a long time Modesto resident--- the worst experience would be a fried rice takeout. Started getting something crunchy when eating and thought it may have been the black stuff off the wok that builds up, but then discovered it to be egg shells all mixed into the fried rice... :(

this place is the bomb.com . great pho like home san jose, home of pho city. very very good. I recommend this place to very one.

  • Cheeks L.

Pho: Delicious Pork and Shrimp rolls: Good Friendliness and service: Terrible Yeah, the pho is good but the place smelled like a dirty mop and the service was very cold and unfriendly. Based on the service alone I wont be coming back. When you're rude, it sends the message that you don't want my business and I am more than happy not to give it to you.

Surprisingly great. I ate a spoonful of sirracha though which was not smart. Try the thai tea. Its really nice but dont get those dumb bubble stuff in it cause they suck. The number 7 on the menu is delicious. Awesome find.

  • Michael K.

There's an age old proverb: "The more ghetto the location, the better the Pho" This definitely holds true for this place! This is some of my favorite pho in Modesto. You can't go wrong with the combination, or the chicken. The spring rolls are good as well. As it turns out, one of my favorite things here is the coconut water (literally water with huge chunks of coconut in it). Theres not much more to it than that. This is a great place to get pho, and I would really recommend it.

Oh, man. This place was recommended to me by an old coworker. Looking at its fairly downtrodden shopping center and not-exactly-nice tables, I knew I was in for something great or disgusting. The best ethnic places are the most run down and this place doesn't disappoint. The pho is SO good. The pho is so good that my friends will literally bring me here when I'm having a bad day, wait for me to get a few bites in of my pho, and ask me if I feel better. I always do. I've had pho aplenty, here there and everywhere. This pho is the best pho. I've had my pho with steak, with tendon, with quail egg and pork. I will have my pho in every way until there is a Dr. Suess book documenting my pho adventures. But enough about the pho, they have other stuff.. that I tried off the plates of my friends (because I always get the pho..). The noodle dishes (#49 specifically, if i recall correctly) are delicious. The thai iced tea is always wonderful. The iced coffee I'm not really a fan of, but I wouldn't say there's anything fundamentally wrong with it. The spring rolls are really good, but for the amount of pho you get (which does not keep well the next day at all) I never get them.

Long standing Pho establishment in Modesto. Been coming here for lunch on and off for some time now. I almost always get the Pho, but my son would get the fried rice. The difference between an 'OK' Pho and 'Phenomenal' Pho is of course the broth. The broth here is A-OK. I've also tasted the fried rice and it has a nice flavor and again A-OK. Hence an A-OK review which is great for the price.

I hope I get to come here again some time. They have so much I want to try! I loved their salad; I don't remember the name of it, but it had beef, onions, spearmint leaves, and jalapeños, and came with a huge freshly-made sesame cracker the size of a medium pizza crust. Mom had a chicken and noodle dish that she thoroughly enjoyed. She kept making noises about there being so much of it that she couldn't finish it, but it was so good that she did! The place was very busy while we were there, but a lot of it was with take-out orders, so there was plenty of seating. Because mom uses a walker, they let us use a one of the closer table, even though that meant 2 of us were taking up a table that might have sat 6.

  • Lew A.

Good, but not great, Pho with a heavy taste of cinnamon in the broth. I order the number 3 (rare steak slices). The meat doesn't strike me as being flavorful enough, but the overall quality of it isn't bad. I probably enjoy their fried rice more but isn't that more Chinese than Vietmanese? No issues with the staff; they seem to appreciate and want your business and will communicate with you if there's any hold-up with your order.

"Snagglepuss Saves The Day" While I was getting down in the Ghetto, and buying some cheap Chinese New Years Cards (for only $1 each at the Asian Market across the strip mall), I was starving, so I gave this place another go after quite awhile. Either they had improved with cleanliness and food quality, or I was really really hungry...but the Pho was pretty decent this time. The poor excuse for a waiter, was a scurvy looking missing front tooth Viet dude, whom I will call Mr. Snagglepuss for the hell of it. Mr. Snagglepuss, appeared to have no clue as to what the hell I was asking. I kept saying and gesturing, if my order could be "fast" or ready quick (since I had to get back to work). After a minute, I decided that I was slowing the speed of my order down by my asking questions, so I just pointed to #1 on the Menu...and off raced Mr. Snagglepuss. While I was watching Egypt go nuts on CNN, Mr. Snagglepuss finally brought my order. The Basil was kind of pathetic, but the broth, beef, and noodles were fine. I thought #1 had Tendon (my fav) but I did not see any. I put my usual hot sauce, plum sauce, and stinky rotten fish sauce in, as well as, the dish of fixins, stirred, and wolfed it down. Not bad at all...and no MSG after-shocks noted this time (but I just had a small bowl). When I went to pay, there was Mr. Snagglepuss, and maybe his wife(?), who also looked like she had Scurvy or Beriberi or something. Poor Mr. & Mrs. Snagglepuss really need some Vitamins or stay away from whatever they are hooked on (and get a damned dentist for my sake). These unsavory characters really distracted from my Ghetto-dinning pleasure. Anyway, thank you Snagglepusses for providing a decent Ghetto-Pho experience! So upgrade from Eek to OK!

Have to agree with Michael K. Ghetto location, but the food is excellent. Have been dining at Pho 7 for at least three years now and love their chicken salad. Friendly service and always busy when I'm there. Great for take out.

  • Joel T.

Been to Pho 7 more often then any of the other Pho Restaurants in Modesto. The service may be a little unhelpful but their food is nonetheless very good. I usually get the #1 and it always arrives nice and hot and same goes for the egg rolls I would order.

  • Matthew K.

Location isn't the best and the place has gotten a bit rundown. ( parents used to own a store next to pho 7 and it was better back in the day ). Friends with the owner who is a good guy but not the best waiter Lol. Staff that are actually there are quite helpful however. Pho comes out great everytime and hasen't disappointed yet, they also have a nice selection of teas/desert drinks.

Ah this place is so good. I've always had friendly service and fresh, tasty food. Try the #29, it will change your life.

I have the pho here all the time, but I've also had the pork and shrimp rolls and the chicken with vegetables. All have been amazing! I've been to three other Vietnamese restaurants in Modesto and this place is by far my favorite. It's family run and the people remember their customers and are very nice. Their soda chanh (soda limeade) is amazing, as well! By far my favorite restaurant and I come here at least weekly.

I like this place a lot. Their spring rolls and pho are awesome. It is a family owned establishment and they treat you well. The place is very old and does need some updating. The food is great that is a big reason I love it so much. My husband loves that there is a tv that he can always see the latest game.

Finally tried this place out after my bf has been telling me about how good this place was for years. He used to go here a lot years ago and swore by it, saying it was just as good, if not better than my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I LOVE Vietnamese food so, I couldn't wait to come here. This place just didn't do it for me. First of all, it's a tiny place with very few tables so, of course the place was packed. I thought well, that's a good sign. We waited outside because the place is so cramped that there's no room to even stand around inside. We waited a REALLY long time, even after a few tables were done and left, we still waited and waited. I looked inside and there were empty tables just waiting to be cleaned but, they weren't doing it. They knew we've been standing outside waiting so, I thought that was kind of bad customer service. Finally, we go back in to remind them we're there and the guy sits us down. We sat there waiting for our menus and he must've got sidetracked again because he started doing something else. I was like WTH?!! We've had two kids with us telling us they were hungry for the past hour..c'mon now! I told my bf to get up and just grab the menus from the counter. The guys sees him coming up and suddenly remembers to give us our menus. omg. At this point, I'm still trying to keep a positive attitude because we should be getting some bomb food right now. Not the case. While the food looked alright, it wasn't very good. My bf said it's definitely not the same as it used to be. The service was horrible. I could see other people getting just as frustrated as I was. I get that they were busy but, that restaurant is really small with not that many tables. They should not be having such a hard time. We won't be returning.

Who can forget the bittersweetness of first love? The taste of your first kiss? The first real disappointment of your life upon realizing first love won't last forever? To me, my 2-year culinary experience at Pho 7 encompassed the sum of all these feelings, as Pho 7 was the place where I first discovered and fell in love with Vietnamese food. The backstory goes something like this: I was stuck attending high school in Modesto, which is the most awesome place to start a family and raise children, but the worst place in the world to do anything else, let alone find palatable asian cuisine. Compared to all the other "asian" restaurants in town, this place is a godsend; their pho, grass bowls, salad rolls and even boba are amazing in comparsion to anything Modesto has to offer. But my love affair with Pho 7 ended the moment I left Modesto; Pho 7 is a medium-sized fish in a tiny pond -- granted, I would take Pho 7 over Pho Hoa or any other chain/caucasian-oriented Pho establishments, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them great or amazing. One thing I do like about Pho 7 is that you can pretty much get a refill of anything you want with your pho (of course, not for free) and the old couple that runs this place are nice and adorable.

  • Richard F.

Pho 7 is my go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto. It's not the absolute best Vietnamese food I've ever had, but excellent for the Modesto area. (I worked in Asia for 20 years) I've also found the waitresses very friendly, and if not too crowded, quick to get my order. (try to avoid rush hour). I still work out of the country a lot, but even after returning months later, they always remember me, which is nice. Yes, the shopping center in not modern and a bit run down, but I go for the food!

This place has always been a favorite but very time I leave I feel my heart is goimg to blast out of my chest. The amout of salt that is put into things here especially the soup (pho). If you wont to keep your blood pressure low go with the sping rolls.

I actually like the pho at this place & come here quite often until I had a bad experience. I often times eat alone since I'm pressed for time & usually on the road for work. I was having lunch alone one day & sitting at a table by myself that sits 2. There was an empty table next to me which sits 4. I got my pho & was eating it when a group of 6 people came in. It was somewhat busy during the lunch hour and I was half way done eating when the guy who worked there asked me to move to another table so he could sit the 6 people where I was. I didn't know how to respond because I have never in my life been asked to move to another table in the middle of my meal. I ended up just leaving & told him I was finished. I felt that it was rude and he should have just waited until I was done eating instead of kicking me out of my table. I will never again come here.

  • Elena B.

The bottom line about this place is that it has the best Pho in town because the broth is ultra rich. Besides that, the fried rice is delicious, and so are the egg rolls. PHo 7 has sort of ruined it for other pho places even out of town because I usually cannot find a broth as rich even in locations like the bay area.

Went in on Friday night about an hour before closing as I was sitting down the waiter who I presume is the owner was helping out another customer who had ordered fried egg rolls but had instead received spring rolls (I should have got up and left at this point) the same guy took my order fried shrimp and pork egg rolls, large combo #1 pho and a fountain drink what I usually get at every pho place I go to (I've been here before just had been a while). Shortly after he came back with my drink and spring rolls I stopped him before he turned around and left to tell him I ordered fried egg rolls, he became upset started bantering about how I need to be clear going on and on about how he understands English, I calmly repeated my order and emphasized FRIED, he kept going on about the SHRIMP part so I grabbed the menu out of his hands and pointed out how my order was FIRED SHRIMP and pork rolls NOT shrimp spring rolls and walked away. My meal came out, I ate, had to get up to ask for a refill then a paid left no tip on receipt to which he became upset, I smiled and left. This was the worst experience I've had here the pho is great and so are the rolls but this will probably be the last time I ever come here because of the negative customer service

We got the beef pho, chicken saute, cream cheese rangoons, and the thai tea without boba pearls. The Pho was great, and they don't charge for extra sprouts, jalapenos, basil, etc. The chicken saute was so freaking good. It came chopped with veggies and mixed in a teriyaki-like sauce. Thinking about it makes me want some actually. The portion isnt what you get like with the Pho but it is a good amount. The cream cheese rangoons have imitation CRAB in them so I didnt like them because I only like real crab but if you like that sort of thing then theyre probably great. Thai tea was good as well. We'll be back for lunch, although the place is a little creepy and shady looking so we won't be coming past dark... haha.

Went here today for an early dinner. I'm a soup fanatic. I decided on the vegetarian Bo Bun Hue. I love broth. Don't really like the weird meat product stuff the regular BBH has. So the veggie version was perfect. With addition of the very fresh basil and jalopenos and lime as well as the rooster sauce, the broth was really good. The cha gio was a little tough, not as flaky as I like. They have beer, but only Mexican and Chinese, not Vietnamese. I missed my "33", or even Hue. But for MOD, I was happy. I don't mind the ghetto strip mall with metal bars in many stores since I work in East Oakland!

I had my first taste of vietnamese food in this restaurant! I absolutely thought the food was amazing! (though my friend, who's vietnamese and is from the bay area said that there are better Vietnamese restaurants in the bay and the food's just ok) The Pho I ordered and the vermicelli my friend got were delicious and had big portions. We also got their vietnamese drinks. I guess the place doesn't seem to be very welcoming, but it's fine. The food is really cheap.

I love this place! Is it fancy? NO. Is it in a nice neighborhood? NO. Are the waiters particularly friendly? NO .... But the food is awesome, and very ressonably priced! This is a hole in the wall , kinda place a little rough around the edges as some , might say. But , I love there food. I usually get the vegetable spring rolls, a super healthy alternative to fried spring rolls, that come with an amazing peanut dipping sauce. Other favorites of mine are the lemon grass chicken (num 33) and the sauteed vegetables with wide rice noodle's! Also, fyi, they deliver a surprisingly cold Corona complete, with frosted mug. So give this place a shot, I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

I didn't think Modesto would have a pho shop, let a lone four... Pho 7 is authentic, and doesn't dilute its menu with lots of Chinese dishes. Lots of choices and reasonable prices. Two sizes of bowls, 50 cents more for the larger... probably should have order that. Fresh basil, jalapenos & bean sprouts... limes were dinky. Chopsticks on table, plus all the condiments like Siracha and hoisin (oyster) sauce. I pass on fish sauce. Table was worn, but not greasy. Food was served very, very fast. They only serve taro pearl tapioca, which is A-OK by me. The restaurant is a real hole in the strip mall, plenty of ethnic businesses around it. If you get a good seat, you can watch the Viet programming. This place is popular & has a following b/c diners came and went even though we had a really early mid-afternoon dinner.

Nothing really to complain about. Got the #3 on the menu and was some of the best pho i'd ever had. My soda was a bit flat, but that may have just been me. Kind of hard to find unless you know you're going there, you wouldn't notice it that easily if you were just driving by it on the road. Menu has a TON of choices (80+ if I remember right).

Great pho, though, I can't compare it to any other California pho - only east coast. Their beansprouts, basil, lime, and jalapenos were all fresh. They're not getting the last start for two reasons: one, I am a huge fan of that fresh, crispy cilantro on the side and it was nowhere to be found and two, the fish sauce (I got a side of the crispy rolls, which were okay) wasn't all that great. As a side note, my friend got the ginger chicken and loved it so much she's making me go back tomorrow - not that I need a whole lot of convincing!

My family has been eating at Pho 7 for 10 years or more now and it's still our favorite in the area. To get more elaborate Vietnamese dishes it's still San Jose's Little Saigon, but the Pho here is as good or better than anywhere we've tried, with generous portions of the meats in a broth Pho 7 is very proud of. Plenty of fresh veg on the accompaniment plate and all the traditional condiments on the table. Everything we've tried, which is everything Vietnamese as opposed to the more mundane Chinese dishes, has been good. The spring rolls are easily up to San Jose standards, In summer, there are traditional and refreshing salads -- or there have been. Lotus root is a family favorite. We've taken many friends and family members to Pho 7 and they've all become fans. The menu suited a fair sequence of our son's vegetarian friends in his bachelor days. Tip: if you like the unctuous tendon and the crunchy tripe sliver in your pho, you can always get more. There seems to be a slight adaptation for Westerners -- these two tend to be at a minimum if a new person who doesn't know us is taking the order. PS: There is a good Asian grocery across the street -- lots of fresh produce, condiments beyond your dreams, and huge freezer cases of fish.

Pretty good place for pho in Modesto, but i've had better. I had the regular beef pho and the meat didn't look too good like it was frozen before they cooked it. The broth was what made it though (and it always is with pho). I haven't eaten there since the first time but I wouldn't mind going again. The bubble tea was great though (unlike a lot of places in Modesto). I got mango with pearls.

Okay, I have been back to Pho 7, just in case my original review was off a bit -- it was accurate! This place is top notch. Even arriving after the lunch rush, the place was packed. I wasn't in the mood for Pho, but I did want some awesome food. As other have suggested, I got the #39 --- house special fried rice. OMFG! The chinese sausage and pork was awesome and the rice was flavorful and fluffy. It was not greasy and with the condiments on the table, I was able to add just the right amount of spice. The touch of fresh cilantro on top was a bonus. Who knew you could eat so good and healthy for under $8 bucks per meal? If you come to Pho 7, you can :) So you can be confident about the quality, come try it -- you will not be disappointed!

Many tasty dishes. My favorite is the chicken soup-minus the egg. The atmosphere is sterile, but the food makes up for it. You go here for the food, not the environment. The meals are a good value for the price. The food tastes fresh. Friendly owners. Enjoy!

Eaten at all the Pho joints in Modesto and this is the best. I only order the Pho, I do not eat the fake Chinese food, or shrimp covered in coconut, thats rubbish. The addition to the Pho are just great, blood, raw steak, bok choy, shrimp, tendon, grilled pork bits, all served in a boiling soup with lots of raw peppers, sprouts, basil and lime juice to be added on top. I have talked to them about importing some real fish sauce you know the stuff made from fish stomachs, salt and left in a glass bottle to ferment. This would make a fine base to work out off. Enjoy this one its a winner and will expand your foodie horizons.

One of my favorite places to eat. Best shrimp and pork egg rolls in Modesto.

I've been here twice and wasn't impressed with their pho either time. The restaurant is also grungy/dirty.

Coming back down from a weekend in Napa, I was feeling a little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I had a gastronomical time up there but I was still missing something. About an hour into my drive, I had remembered, from a distant time of somewhat repressed memories, a Vietnamese restaurant where I had my first taste of pho. The first few times was a declaration of war among my mind and tastebuds, a flavor I despised even more than going to church on a Superbowl weekend. It was an illusional, delusional time that I wished I would encounter again. I wouldn't have had a clue as to where this fine establishment would be but luckily, I had my GPS to guide me to the closest decimeter of the exact location. I inputted "pho" and "modesto" in the machine and out chugged about 7 pho joints. I was clueless, they all sounded similar and they were all located on the either of the two main streets in Modesto... "McHenry" and "Carver." So I decided to play pho roulette and picked this place. If I thought I knew how good pho should taste, I would've hoped it to be of my first pho. So it turned out that this place was indeed the right place except they had renovated the tiles and the tables. I even found out they even have a bathroom! So we both ordered pho and everything came out as planned except for a small aberration which was the lemon instead of lime. Now the only place I've seen this occur was in Korea where I had what we call in my standards "instant pho" flavor but people were putting down over 10 bucks a bowl in a nice ass sit down restaurant where all the waiters were in red vests and slacks. But I regress, the pho was absolutely dignifying. It was that bar that had been set but never toppled. It was the bliss of pure energy extruding from the fornication between Aphrodite and Bacchus. It was definitely a meal I will remember. Merging back onto the highway, I came to the realization that I was finally leaving Nor-Cal, completely satisfied.

The pho was amazing. I asked for extra sambal (the rooster chili sauce) and they gave me some to-go cups to fill up. I'm going back tonight!

Perfect spot to have some delish pho on a cold day. The place is not in the best area nor is the shop the best looking but the food is amazing. We've been to other pho shops around modesto but we always come back to Pho 7.

We were in the area picking up some sake from the Asian market across from this place and thought, 'why not?' There is a variety of dishes to choose from, its cheap, and delicious; however, the portion size is a bit small. The only downside is the place is a bit dirty and the staff need to brush up on their customer service skills, but other than that its an "okay" place if you're in the mood for Vietnamese food.

Some of you guys think this is HIGH QUALITY Vietnamese food? Seriously now I'm seeing ratings of 4 stars. Unbelievable. As an avid Pho fanatic if you may call it,I love Pho and I know Vietnamese food very well. And recently I just experienced the worst Vietnamese dining in my life. The location is in East Modesto, which is pretty much in the Ghetto. The restaurant itself is small, lack of chairs for most of the tables as well, and crowded. I went here with a couple of friends and we ordered some spring rolls which tasted funny, as if it was missing an ingredient; the peanut sauce for it did not taste good at all. After that experience, we all hoped that the Pho we ordered would redeem from the failure of those spring rolls, I ended up ordering a small #3 which was just pho and rare steak. When we got our order; the broth/soup was not hot at all, the noodles were over cooked, and the meat that was served in it seemed like it was rotten or just too soft for rare steak. The taste of the broth was the worst ever. My friend and I kept trying to figure out what was wrong with it and if it was missing an ingredient so we kept adding some of the condiments provided on the table to see if it would taste better. Nope. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT. I got a small order of Pho and I didn't even finish it at all. It looked like as if I never touched it. This place is the worst Pho Noodle house. And I don't recommend it at all. If you guys are looking for some decent Vietnamese dining, I suggest Saigon Bay in Tracy or the Pho spots in Stockton or even San Jose/Milpitas area. We drove from Manteca, Ca just willing to try out this Pho spot, and we regret it very much.

I was looking for Pho places in Modesto, and I found this. It was sort of in the ghetto. The outside didn't look so inviting. When I got in, the place was tiny. They could have used some fish tank decorations or something to liven up the place because the outside view did not look inviting at all. I only go here because of their Pho and I must say they have one of the tastiest phos I've ever tasted. The flavor is strong, in a good way and that's why I'm giving this a higher score than it deserves. (Isn't that the reason you come to a restaurant, to eat?)

Food is very good for Modesto. Pho is almost comparable to the Bay. Just don't expect great service, but they will make you whatever you want. No veggie people can go here and go in daylight as it is not a great area.

Big phan of pho 7. Order the seafood combo soup, #16 I believe. Sprinkle some hot sauce, plum sauce, a few jalapenos and lime juice to enhance an already delicious culinary concoction. I have tried a few other items on the menu but always go back to the seafood soup, especially on a cold day. I have had better pho in the bay area and some questions could be raised about the location, but for Modesto, Pho 7 is legit.

I love this restaurant! Hole in the wall, cheap food and healthy! I always look at the menu, I don't know why because I always get the same thing everytime, Pho Dac Biet, or #1. For those of you who want a refreshing drink, try the Taro Pearl, it is sweet and to die for!

pho in modesto? seriously? i was visiting a relative in a near by hospital and decieded to try it out. i was not disappointed! clean inside, friendly staff, and quick food. can't ask for more than that! had the #4 with cooked meat (just to be on the safe side for a first time) and loved it. perfect combination of flavors made it very enjoyable. also order the cream cheese wontons. i was disappointed with the sweet and sour sauce packets?!??!!!! seriously? packets? c'mon! that's cheating! the wontons themselves lacked a little flavor and were bursting with filling (could be good or bad depending on the person. for me personally, it was bad)

I usually go with the seafood soup and I am never dissapointed. Great portions and very delicious. I've tried the mongolian beef; however, I keep going back to the seafood soup. Oh and cream cheese wontons also a great appetizer.

Food: 3 Service: 3 Ambiance: 2 I was very pleasantly surprised by the tastiness of the pho. The soup was very good, and the meat and veggies were alright. A chicken rice plate I also ordered was very good too, but it was unfortunately lukewarm when it was served.

Ok...anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE VIETNAMESE FOOD. Espcially pho. I've been going to pho 7 for about 15+ years now. Sadly I dont go there anymore..why you ask? Well...they changed owners a couple years back and dont get me wrong. The new owners are very nice..but hey just because Im a petite person, doesnt mean i dont eat alot. When I order an EXTRA LARGE pho means I want a giant bowl of pho with lots of noodles. I always have to order the large with EXTRA noodles on the side. (yes they charge extra for those extra noodles) They are soo stingy with their noodles. Comon..if you dont want to sell larges, then dont put it on the menu! Good food, but very small portions. For example..... I went with my 5'6" friend...she orders a medium and I order a large...who gets more noodles?? NOT i...but my friend gets hers packed with noodles..im thinking that they go to the back and say..."AHHH small little person there, she cant eat that much I will give her little bit o noodles" "average size girl here....she can eat this much noodles." So and So. So when we go there she orders a medium and I order a large and we just switch bowls..but no need for that anymore because I dont go there anymore!

This place is great I love it. It was my first time here and I think I will be coming back here more often. I have had Pho all over the world and I think this has to rank in the top 3 out of the places I have been all over the world. The place was really clean when we first walked in and we were kindly greeted by a really nice waiter who let us choose where we wanted to seat. There was quite a selection in drinks along with the many choices of Pho or any other Vietmanese dishes. We were brought our food and everything was perfect full of flavor. It was a great price too I think i could eat this stuff 3 times a week.

i can't vouch for their pho but the Udon stir fry is to die for. i love there savory thick noodles with the right combo of meat, veggie and noodles. they also serve tapioca here. (for modesto pho, i prefer Pho Bac Noodle palace, the car wash place and Phoenix noodle house.)

This place is delicious! I usually order the # 4, it's the rice noodle soup with well done steak. The broth is always fresh and the meat just right. If you're not in the mood for soup I'd try their combination fried rice or their shrimp tempura both of those items have great flavor that you can't find anywhere else in Modesto. The service is great and fast; the prices are fabulous. I eat here at least once a week. So enjoy!

Pho 7 is a little hole in the wall gem. Their Pho is the best in town. But when I say hole in the wall, I mean it. The tables are clean, but the place just feels dirty with boxes piled up, and the TV blasting. And when you go to the restroom, I just don't recommend it because the trip is not very pleasant - more like a walk down an OCD's hallway. Don't bring a yuppie on a date to this place. You won't get the ambiance, and you won't get the service. Come here when you want great cheap pho. The other dishes are alright if you like the typical mixed-Asian food for non-Asian tastes (I wouldn't call it fusion), but the beef pho is the best. I don't recommend that you do pho take out because the soup is so hot, it melts the plastic container sometimes. Personally, I like hole in the wall type restaurants, so long as I am confident that the food preparation is sanitary. It's only in these kinds of places where you might find both cheap and good authentic food. And if you've never had Pho before, then remember that it's a soup that you eat in a certain way (you must use your Asian spoon to put in just the right amount of noodles, and meat, and veggies with the right amount of dipping sauces that you find on the table). If you don't know the right way to eat Pho, you may never discover why it's so wonderful.
