Went back for dinner one time and lunch one more time about 2 months back. biryani for dinner , not good . Tandoori was OK. service was OK. The thing I like most in the buffet is the goat biryani. I think it is a great buffet, but I am not a fan of buffets anymore.

A little pricey for what I'm used to paying for AYCE Indian buffet but they have a pretty good selection of food. They have a lot of vegetarian options and a handful of meat dishes. Everything is hot and their labels include descriptions which really helps if you're ever wondering what kind of vegetable or meat is mixed in with all that thick sauce. My favorite was probably the paneer and the butter chicken. They also provide you with naan so don't load up on too much rice! It wasn't too busy when I came here for lunch but it might be busier on a Friday when everyone goes out.

I usually love coming her for dinner. Our go to dishes are: - Rack of lamb, which is amazing I would order this again. - Butter chicken, very good I would order this again. -Garlic Naan, good I would order this again. - Roti chicken, good I would order this again. I was there with a few friend during lunch over the weekend. I assumed their buffet specials were only during the week. When we got there they were very pushing about us eating from the buffet set up than ordering from the menu. I gave them one less star because they were pushy. During dinner we were treated so well and the service was great! I would just continue coming here for dinners :)

Mmm im still pining for the food here . Let's start with the interior of the place- unlike the rest of milpitas square the interior of this place is quite spiritual and chic, came here with my friends last night for dinner and we were quickly greeted by a really sweet gentlemen , I remember thinking wow thus restaurant is beautiful . The servers were very friendly and helpful in the most genuine way and food came out quickly . Let's break it down on what we ordered Rosemary garlic naan ***** a must order ! The naan is hot and crisp and the rosemary and garlic literary melts in your mouth Garlic naan- **** which is good but not as good as the rosemary garlic Somasa in yogurt sauce **** different , it's samosa inside a pool of yogurt sauce ? Asana eggplant *** quite flavorful Goat brianni ***** this is heaven for me, the rice and goat is served in a metal bowl and it's serve really hot, the briani has the perfect amount of spice to it not too spicy but perfectly seasoned . I couldn't help but eat until I got extremely full. I just love how their goat was so soft and tender and it's flavor balance well with the rice , even my vegetarian friend was tempted to try All in general this place is a must go for those who loves indian food , think I have found my favorite place to eat in milpitas

Hands down THE BEST Indian buffet and a MUST TRY NEW RESTAURANT in the Milpitas Ranch-99 strip mall. Weekend's Champagne buffet lunch is of great value and everything - and I repeat... absolutely EVERYTHING was delicious!!! My favorite dish is the Goat Briyani ... it's sooo good and has excellent flavors. Rice is cooked perfectly - not soggy and not too rough, and the goat is moist and flavorful. I went back 3x just for the goat Briyani... I can eat it everyday!!! Gosh - everything was so good at the buffet and there are so many yummy items to list. My other favorite items are: Tandoori chicken (moist and tasty - infused with spices), Chicken tikka masala (again supet moist chicken and great sauce!). Many times buffet food is dry and bland... we'll, not at Aasna! At Aasna, you will get excellent food and helpful, friendly service. Lastly, Aasna restaurant is beautiful! They transformed the prior run down Chinese restaurant into a beautiful, zen and classy, comfortable restaurant. (see pics). Love the Buddha in the left corner of the restaurant near the booth seating area. We cannot wait to be back!!!

Pathetic rasagulla. Worse food taste. Dry rotis. Not even single dish or sweet appreciable.

came here with a groupon deal: $22 for $36 towards a dinner for 2. * groupon: this place is a stickler for the fineprint. For instance, the dinner groupon is ONLY for dinner. So if it says its for 4 people, then there must be 4 people in attendance. Plus the coupon cannot be combined with any offers at the time of redemption, even if you come on happy hour. * ambiance: definitely a huge improvement from the stereotypical Indian restaurant. This place is definitely set for a romantic date with its dimly lit lights, extravagant decor, and infinitesimal amount of cutlery (aka forks and spoons). hint: a great spot to introduce someone to the exotic taste of India. * price: definitely on the pricier side, but I'm sure you are not only paying for the excellent food, but for the excellent ambiance and service as well. * parking: came on a thursday night and the parking was very easy. * wait: no wait at all. there were plenty of empty tables. I'm not sure if that is because its a weekday night or because this place is pricey, despite the many deals offered on groupon, yelp, or on their website. * food: - complimentary bread and 3 sauces: excellent! the bread tasted like Vietnamese shrimp chips and the 3 sauces were definitely new and orgasmic. - vegetable samosa: excellent! the complimentary tamarind sauce goes well with this. - hot mint tea: hm... definitely good but it is also something you can easily make at home (add mint leaves to hot water!) - assorted bread: the enormity of this dish is beyond words. excellent. also goes well with the complimentary 3 sauces or the curry. - mixed grill: excellent selection of 5. came on a sizzling bed of onions and burnt, but the spices worked its magic. would definitely order this again, despite the fact that one of the 5 is lamb ( I hate lamb) - village chicken curry: the worse of the bunch. it is not spicy, instead it has a strong coconut flavor. * overall: I would come here again for a date night :)

While lunch buffet doesn't have options like other Indian places, whatever they had was fresh, hot and delicious - a little pricey at $14+ Dinner was excellent - some of the few places in Bay Area which serves rumali roti! The food had just the right amount of spice and portions were good for 3 people per curry.

Good ambiance, good service and courteous service. We tried the momos, butter chicken and bhindhi masala. Bhindi was the stand out. Highly recommend the place.

I had dinner here. The paneer dish was tasty and rich. The appetizer plate was fine bhajji, fritters. The papad at the start smelled weird. My colleague had dum aloo which was fine but I liked my dish. I didn't like the rumalee even though it said was their speciality

Hubby and I were looking to try a new Indian restaurant and landed here. We love their service and their food as they have been consistent every time. The one thing which i absolutely love is their Momos with their spicy dip, and thier Buffet has great options as well.

I came here on a thursday night at 7 and when I walked in, I was taken aback because there was absolutely nobody in there... I was reluctant to be seated but what the hey I remembered this place has good ratings. The decor is very nice, and the music was a nice alternative to what I normally hear at Indian restaurants where I feel it's too in your face bollywood. Looking at the menu, it is definitely quite limited and a little on the more expensive side however I guess full service makes up for it compared to a lot of self service indian places. we went with the lamb vindaloo (i believe) and chicken tikka masal with lemon rice and garlic naan. I can eat a LOT of food and when it was served I thought they looked like pretty small portions but I was full and still had leftovers so they fooled me (in a good way). I rarely have lamb and was never won over although I never disliked it, but the lamb dish was absolutely a winner and a very delicious spicy. chicken curry was also very tasty. the lemon rice was good but they had this nut or bean or something in it that me and the bf hated although the rice was good and naan also. I will come back again for the lunch buffet fer sure!

The lunch buffet is pretty decent. Has a good selection of both veg and non veg food. I found the food slightly heavy and sweet. The biryani was a lackluster. They had a selection of 4 desserts all were fairly good. Gajar halwa, rasgulla, jalebi and kheer. I was hoping there was ice team though. The buffet came with champagneor wine (red/white) or soda or chai, pretty impressive. The buffet was ~16bucks/head for average food. Considering we were starving wasn't too bad.

I almost missed this place because the entrance is under a sign that reads "Chef's Inspiration Chinese Cuisine", but I'm glad I looked closer and stopped for lunch. The chicken curry was good, but the tomato chicken was amazing. Plenty of roasted veggies, too.

  • Frances P.

Anything from the tandoori section is legit. We got the mixed tandoori platter and it was good, I just wish it had more of the lamb lamb and less of the ground seasoned lamb sausage thing. Butter chicken was probably the bet, it was creamy tomatoey perfectly balanced. The NAans and prat has we're good as well. It's a bit pricey, but they had some kind of happy hour discount. Will be back!

Went here during the weekday for the lunch buffet. The price for the buffet isn't listed anywhere...it's actually $12.95. Walked in and there were a few people in there, not crowded at all. A server seated us and quickly brought us fresh naans. The buffet selection is very limited. I was really disappointed since looking at the pictures on Yelp I thought there would be lots of options but there were only 4 meat options and around 4 veggie options. For $12.95, I expect more options. Everything tasted ok, nothing tasted bad. Will not return since it's too pricey for the limited options.

Had buffet today to celebrate MLK's day . This review is for buffet and not dinner. Service : 5 stars (amazing service) Ambience : 5 stars (clean inviting decor with Buddha fountain; few Buddha paintings which brings calmness) Parking : 5 stars (maybe 'cause it was MLK day otherwise may be a challenge) Food : overall 3 stars as the "it" taste factor was missing (bland; most of the dishes tasted same vs letting unique ingredients which make up an entree define it's taste). I'm sure this will definitely get better as this restaurant recently opened (last week). End of the day food makes a difference and this place will make other restaurants run for money if they can perfect this. Diverse items - lentil soup (yellow daal), egg plant, chili paneer, cauliflower, rice, pakoda, butter chicken, goat curry, tandoori chicken, salad, yogurt, butter chicken, chicken biryani, roti naan fresh served at table, rice pudding & shredded carrot cake (gazrala). My favorite was yogurt, biryani and butter chicken as I was able to enjoy the taste. Menu : menu is in the color of Indian national flag theme vs boring plain white color (nice ring to overall theme). Other Factors : beautiful private room for parties. Price : $13 approx. per person (doesn't include soda, etc.); Reasonable. Overall 3.75 stars. Will definitely stop by for dinner and then provide another update.

This is a newly opened restaurant and there are a bunch of coupons on their website if you're interested in checking it out. They don't really have a noticeable sign up outside yet so it will be hard to find--it's a few shops to the left of the Ranch 99. First thing I noticed when I walked in was the nicely decorated and clean interior, yay! I went with a friend to their champagne buffet on a weekend and it was $15 per person buffet+drink (champagne, soda, or chai tea). I can appreciate that they are trying to establish an upscale restaurant but I did think there could have been a better variety of dishes or just something that really stands out. They tried to achieve that with a tiny chaat station that's set up for the champagne buffet (in addition to the food), but some of the pani puri ingredients were stale so that was a downer. If you're expecting clientele to drop $15 for an indian buffet that can be easily found for way cheaper anywhere else in the Bay Area...it really should have something that stands out. It didn't quite cut it for me. The butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and biryani were pretty good but that was about all that stood out. As yelp says, 3 stars = A-OK and that's exactly what this place was for me. Three stars also for really great service and staff, which I hope keeps up as the restaurant grows. They kept the naan coming and water glasses filled :) The owner was also incredibly friendly and we got to chat with him about the restaurant; it was nice to see management valuing their customers' opinions. Maybe I'll be back to check out their a la carte menu :)

Hi have been to Aasna numerous times with colleagues, friends and family and it continues to be one of my fav pick if I am in mood for Indian food. I love the chicken momos, pls note they always make it fresh and these are not wantons steamed. Wish they had veg momos as well. They have good collection of appetizers, I love the kebabs.Never tried the veg dishes so nothing to comment. Food presentation, mocktails presentation is Excellent Service is A+. Restaurant waiters are very friendly, always carries a smile and makes you feel cared! Santosh is exceptionally good! Every 20 minutes he checks on us to make sure everything is ok and never hesitates to have a quick chat! I highly recommend this restaurant! I am considering this for my son's 2nd birthday celebration :-)

Great service, great atmosphere. It's in a shopping center in Milpitas that is a foreign foodie's dream. So many interesting places. As for the food: A bit spicy but lots of raita calms things down. We have been twice and plan on returning. One of the tastiest things we ate last time was Rosemary pesto naan. It was not basil pesto, it was rosemary and it was really, really delicious. We also had papadams. We tried goat and it was very good, curry not too spicy. Butter chicken was pretty spicy. Prices are VERY reasonable especially for a nice atmosphere and good service. I want to come back for lunch buffet, which my Indian friends tell me is the "thing" to do.

Great place and definitely will come again. - Went there for the buffet and it looks like on weends they serve nice wine as well. -Less items but all were good especially the soup (I had three cups). -There was a bengali sweet (white little ones soaked in the sugary water) which was not as original I believe.

This place is a wannabe upscale Indian restaurant.Having said that the pretention factor creeps in a lot like the dress-code of the servers, table manners, cutlery everything is in an orderly manner but alas the food is worth only 3 stars. We went for a sunday buffet though they do serve wine there was nothing spectacular about the taste and quality of the food.

This restaurant was just Ok! I am an Indian food snob and this place didn't impress me at all. 6 of us visited this place for business dinner a few weeks ago. Both the service and the food was mediocre. Some of the colleagues who are not regular Indian food eaters were also mentioning that they would rather eat at a different restaurant next time. Considering the plethora of other delicious food available in this area, I won't be visiting this place again soon.

We happened to walk by during happy hour and were lured in by the 20% off deal. Happy hour is Monday - Friday from 5 - 6:30 p.m. Their house wine and beers were also discounted during this time. We ordered the mixed grill, saag paneer, lamb biryani, and plain naan. The mixed grill was excellent! It came with tandoori chicken, another grilled chicken, and several mixed meat kebabs. It was definitely more than enough meat for the two of us. We also liked the saag paneer and the lamb biryani. Both were very well spiced. We ended up taking home our leftovers and having enough food for dinner the next night! We also that they have several coupons on their website. So we'll plan to use those next time or check out their lunch buffet.

After hearing about how good Aasna is from friends and fellow yelpers, I decided to check this place out and see for myself. I decided to go for the $12.95 lunch buffet on a Weekday. The lunch buffet is from 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM and I went around 1:00 PM. When we arrived, we were immediately seated. It wasn't too crowded. It was quite dark inside but the space is huge. I'm vegetarian and I loved how they had a good variety of vegetarian dishes. I sampled some raita, matter paneer, rice, veg potato patty, and another curry. Unfortunately, none of the dishes were tasteful. The raita was overly salty, the matter paneer was too liquidy and the paneer didn't taste to flavorful. The rice was just plain rice. I wish they had offered saffron rice instead. For dessert, there was only one dish and that was halwa which was very dry. A side of naan comes for free and that was good. I've been to many indian lunch buffets, and the food that Aasna had for their lunch buffet was not up to par. I think they should atleast offer 2 desserts for the weekday lunch buffet. Service was friendly and I think if I come here again, it would be during the dinner hour. I'd avoid the lunch buffet.

The tandoori chicken was really good, so was the kadhai paneer. I'm not a fan of their buffet, but their dinner portions and taste is really good! The ambience is awesome and the servers are very courteous :)

Good food and ambience. We met as part of a reunion of 4 freinds from 25 years ago. We spent about 3 hrs there and the wait staff took care of everything without rushing us.Teh portions were disproporationate to the prices and so was the spice. Too bland for my taste. Will go back again

  • Parixit G.

I ordered the butter chicken and garlic naan. The food was decent but overpriced. Also I had a yelp $15 for $10 deal which they somehow changed to $12 for $10. When I brought this to the servers attention, he attempted to argue with me that that deal didn't exist. I said I had paid for $15 and not $12. After some back and forth he finally went back and brought back my bill with the correct amount deducted. If they are not going to honor yelp deals why offer them? I give the food 3 stars but the service 1 star.

Did a to go. Pander kadhai and naan was pretty good. Gulab jamum could be better for the price. Papdi chaat was ok. Overall the taste and flavors is better than most Indian places.

What a pleasant place for authentic indian food! Came here with my family for the lunch buffet and every dish was on point! I'm punjabi and the good here was truly authentic! I would have to say that the daal is so flavorful and tasty. The decor and ambience made me feel like I was in a nice indian resteraunt in India. I would definitely recommend this place to any of my family and friends! Nice sit down place to bring your family!!! This is a hidden gem in an Asian shopping center but once you find it you'll come back again!! Best buffet in town!

Came here last friday with some coworkers. The reason for the 5 star review is not only the buffet was delicious with a variety of dishes from butter chicken, fish curry, chicken tandoori and even lamb biryani! There were a bunch of vegetarian options as well, actually more vegetarian to meat dishes. But, even the vegetarian dishes were delicious. I ordered a straweberry lassi which was also delicious. The 5star review comes with the great service! The servers here are super friendly, fill up your water glass constantly and bring you fresh orders of naan. This is why they get the 5 star review!

Bad food, worse service. Our server started to argue with us!! Would never go again.. We ordered peeli daal and server gets us mix daal and has the balls to argue that we ordered yellow daal which is mix daal.. Completely ridiculous..

I am a little surprised at all the 4 star/5 star ratings. I came here with a big group of people from work for buffet. The food was warm (rather than hot). at 12 noon, the lights were not turned on. It was dark. The heater was not turned on and it felt quite cold. The food was not great at all. The food was just OK. Nothing very flavorful. No one in our big group enjoyed the food. I had a friend who had never written reviews on yelp, opened an account the same day and wrote a 1-star review.

Was visiting family in San Jose and we ordered take out for a big group from Aasna. The food was really good! We had the dal panchmela, paneer makhan wala, and chana masala. The paneer was especially delicious. Must try!

Went here on a Tuesday night and was amazed at the high quality of service. We ordered the village chicken curry and malai kofta and they both were good. Garlic naan is not so good however. Onion kulcha saved the day. Best dish of the evening was chicken lollipop(appetizer) with a good kick to it. Loved the nice ambience and the service. Our waiter was really nice. Overall a nice dinner altogether.

It was a very good experience to dine here. I ordered chicken lollypop and it came with ground chicken. I was not comfortable with ground chicken so I talked to manager and he immediately changed the order for me. I liked the sizzling chicken. It was very lightly spiced which is rare in Indian food. Overall experience was very good. Tip: please educate the staff more about menu.

I loved my first experience at this place. Located in the ranch 99 complex of Milpitas, Aasna is a great addition to the city. Everything we ordered- from the veg pakodas to the last course- rose ice cream which I'm guessing they get from Nirvaanah, was superb. It's also one of the few Indian restaurants to carry rumali roti...so exciting. The decor is also nicely done and they have a full bar, which is always welcome in my books. I just hope they maintain their quality of food as normally when restaurants are new, they bring out the best and slowly become complacent. Hubby and I want to try their weekend buffet which is supposed to be great also- apparently they have goat biryani, which I don't eat but may draw the many carnivores to the place.

UYE!!! oh Yeah!!! organized by Janet O; Linda P; and Ari W. Thanks Ladies for organizing this event. Awesome to see some familiar faces and meeting new ones too. My first time here at Aasna and I am happy to say that I like the ambience..cozy and elegant =). I ordered an appetizer Grilled (all meat)..I am not an expert in Indian food but I like the taste and like the dipping sauce that they serve here. I also tried the veggie appetizer (thanks Dennis O) and the fish curry (right,Bobby L). The staff here were very attentive...my glass of water is always refilled =)...I also had their hot green mint tea (soo good ). I will definitely come back to taste other stuff...I saw one Yelper (Vu) ordered the lobster dish...looks good! I will try it next time ....I didn't get to taste their naan =( so i need to have one of those too when I come back.

My husband and I were here couple of weeks ago. We were here to get some takeout. When we first walked in to pick up our order, the ambience of the restaurant seemed pretty good. However we were quite disappointed with the food. The curries we ordered were quite bland and the spices tasted undercooked and lacked flavor. The Rotis were very chewy. Won't come back here again.

Went there a few weeks ago. I debated between this place and another hot spot of mine. I wish I would have just sticked to my original indian spot. The place is nice, staff is great, service is good. The food, not so much. We ordered the butter chicken, vegetable korma & the coconut fish curry. I was REALLY disappointed about the butter chicken. It tasted very gritty, as if they didn't let the masala cook down enough. The coconut fish was OK, they also only put just a few pieces of fish in there. The vegetable korma was so-so. The best thing there was the papad that they give out for free! I wouldn't go back, food was NOT worth the hefty price tag!

    (2)
  • Irene L.

Food is good and service was good. BF ordered chicken kadhai and in the description it says it's a dry cooked chicken, but when the chicken came out it had sauce all over it. I ordered the Vegetable Korma and it was really good. We would definitely come back.

Went here recently, it was just the two of us. We ordered 3 types of bread and 3 dishes and 1 appetizer. Here is what we got Very thin flat bread - Free - This was good but probably not for everyone. I'm glad they gave this to us because I was pretty hungry when we got there. Vegetable Samosa - 5 dollars - 3 came - this was on the spicy side for me and didn't have that much flavor outside of just being spicy. We probably wouldn't get these again. They were about the size of golf ball if that helps people decide to get them or not. I just want to note they have a ton of bread! The breads we got where big and cut into four pieces. One bread per person will probably be enough... aka 4 pieces of bread. We got no rice. Plain Naan / Butter Naan - 2.25/2.45 - we got two Naans because we love Naan. The butter Naan was actually not that much different from the Plain Naan for us. Normally butter is WAY better but it was about the same here. Save a few cents and just get the Plain. It was pretty good Naan over all though. Cheese Kulcha - 4 dollars - This was awesome!! Get this! Tandoori Chicken Half - 10 dollars - This was actually very impressive... it comes on a very hot plate on a bed of onions. This was very good and very tender. Aasna's Saag Paneer - 11 dollars - This was good for what it was but it had very little Paneer... Our bowl only had about 7 small pieces of Paneer. Butter Chicken - 13 dollars - This had good flavor but it was very very watery for some reason and had very little chicken. Mango Lassi - 3 dollars - This was standard. Good if you feel like having it but nothing amazing about it. Our overall bill was 60 dollars. Kind of pricey for 2 people but we did take home about another meal for one person. So what we ordered would have been perfect for 3 people but still kind of pricey. We would probably come back here for the bread and tandoori chicken.

I came to try them again as it is close to where I stay. The only change from last time is, the non vegetarian dishes all taste good. The vegetarian dishes again are a let down. 2 out of 6 dishes are super salty. Jalebi - don't eat it or rather eat at your own risk. You have been warned.

Normally my family never chooses to go to an Indian cuisine since we are Indian. However, based off the reviews we decided to give this place a try, and boy, it surely didn't disappoint! The wait staff was very friendly, and the ambience was very nice. I could definitely use the Buddha Fountain in my backyard! We started off with the Chicken Mo-Mo- chicken dumplings which were good but we could have avoided the dipping sauce. Then we had the Pesto Rosemary Naan and Chicken TIkka Masala. OMG the Pesto Naan was AMAZING!!!! Chicken Tikka Masala had good curry but the Chicken was a bit dry for me. The best thing on the menu is the Tandoori Rack of Lamb SIzzler. Well cooked Lamb, beautifully seasoned, I could go on and on! Even the Ghost Biryani (lamb Biryani) was very good and the meat was very tender. We ended our meal with the Mitha Paan Ice cream, which was my parents favorite. Definitely my new go to Indian restaurant!

If you are in the mood for great Indian buffet style food, attentive service, and wonderful atmosphere and decor, this is THE place. Wow I can't believe how affordable this place is for a all you can eat buffet. They have a great selection of food for everyone including vegans. The manager himself was very gracious and even catered to our needs. If you love Indian food give this place a try, you won't be disappointed!

I have always been intimidated to go to an Indian restaurant to order off the menu. My experience up to this point has only been Indian buffets. One of my coworkers suggested this place and it was terrific. We sat at the bar since it was just the two of us for a business dinner. I ordered the Village Chicken Curry with the Saffron Rice. Along with it we had also ordered the Garlic Naan. Everything was delicious. The menu wasn't confusing at all and had great description of what was included on each entree. The employees were very nice and stopped by often to check on us. They also gave us good recommendation on what to try from the menu. The place wasn't very full but it was a Tuesday night so what can you expect! Overall great experience and would highly recommend. No longer will I be intimidated to go into an Indian restaurant and order from the menu.

Went here with a friend for a late dinner. We were greeted and seated immediately. The aroma when you walk in smells sooo good. We ordered a bottle of wine and; - Garlic Naan - Paneer Kadhai - Butter Chicken - Vegetable Samosa They provided a house like cracker with 3 different sauces to pick from. It was very good. The Samosas weren't anything special, the crispy was right, average joe. The Garlic Naan was yummy and you can taste the fresh garlic. When we put in our order, the server was telling us the difference between dishes to type of spices and types of chicken (dark meat vs. white meat). We appreciated the manager telling us that what we ordered had too much of a similar base and he recommends variety but it was something my friend wanted to try since she had it in Malaysia and loved it. The butter chicken was just right, you can taste the spices but it wasn't over powered by the cream sauce and the Paneer Kadhai was very good, am surprised it was cottage cheese and not tofu. Texture wise, they are similar. Overall, a good experience. Service was on point and food was very good.

Found this restaurant because of the high rating on Yelp. I went there on a Sunday for their Lunch buffet which was truly amazing. The butter chicken and dal makhani was delicious. The had a really good spread with Chaat and North Indian dishes. Also they offer a free drink(option of a glass of champagne) with the buffet. The service was really amazing and friendly. I would highly recommend people to come here if you want to enjoy a good meal of Indian food.

Aasna is tucked into the corner of a shopping center with mostly Chinese stores. The menu seems to be mostly standard Indian dishes (that you would find in a US restaurant). The dishes were well executed and very tasty. The lamb in the vindaloo was tender and a very nice cut of meat. The chicken korma was also very good. Worth a visit

Great ambience, good service and very good food. Tamattar(tomato) soup was spicy and delicious. Onion pakoda, & veggie pakoda were both tasty. Mixed platter was okay. One downside was that rumali roti had a limit of 5 per table. Thankfully a couple members is our group wanted naan, so it worked out. The main dishes were tasty ( a little on the sweet side though). Over all a good dinner experience!

Just had the buffet here for lunch. Tried several dishes but kept coming back to the butter chicken which was just amazing. The naan bread was also amazing - had a crispy outside and chewy center, almost like a pizza crust. Really terrific. I almost didn't go in because of the tablecloths (it looked a little fancy for me in my jeans and polo shirt) but I'm really glad I did now!

I came here after reading the good reviews. We ordered the butter chicken and Goat Biriyani. Following are Pros & Cons: Pros: 1. Goat Biriyani was well made. 2. Decor of the place is good. Cons: 1. Even on a slow night, they took 45 minutes + to bring out the food. 2. Butter chicken was just average. I don't understand why there are so many good reviews for this dish here. 3. The place is too dark 4. Goat Biriyani lacked salt. 5. Overpriced.

We found this recently opened place through yelp.. and I would say.. What a find..!!! Good food.. nice ambiance.. and great service..!! what else one wants.. Been there twice with friends for dinner, staff is friendly and service is good.. they have a lot many dishes on the menu and one can choose from a wide variety....price is also fair (they have some deals and 20% discounts.. not bad). The restaurant is however a lil difficult to find as they do not have a noticeable name sign yet.. its next to Darda.. And yes, I will be coming back to try buffet as well :)

What a jacked up deal on groupon!!!!! What if 2 freakin ppl can't eat $36 worth of food so they invite a 3rd person and you guys say it's not allowed? Do the 2 ppl eat in the restaurant while the 3rd person waits in the car until the 2 ppl finish eating and pack up the leftovers for the famished person eagerly waiting in the car?!?! NONSENSE! $22 for $36 worth of Indian dinner cuisine for two, valid Monday-Friday $42 for $72 worth of Indian dinner cuisine for four, valid Monday-Friday

Came in here for the lunch buffet and was quite pleased! I really enjoyed their butter chicken (very soft and tender) as well as the lentil val. I really loved their naan! The naan is provided if you do the lunch buffet and they refill it if you finish it. I could eat the naan with everything or even just as is! They also said the lunch buffet comes with a free drink! Your choice of champagne, wine, soda, or their chai tea (which was good). The service was good, a little slow at times but I appreciated our waiter'a persistence when offering the free drinks with our meal.

Stumbled upon this place at lunch when the wait at Darda was longer than usual. The lunch buffet was excellent with a generous variety of veggie dishes, including a couple that I hadn't had before. The lamb was very good (not at all gamey). They had two soups; dal was good but the tomato soup was terrific, with a nice amount of heat. They have a full bar, so I'm anxious to come back to try dinner service.

Finally an Indian restaurant with awesome food. Usually in Bay area my most favorite places are Pakistani restaurants. But I was so sick and tired of the Pakistani places such as Shalimar, Pakwan and Chutney, that finally decided to try this restaurant based on Yelp reviews and I was wowed by the authentic food and ambiance. My wait for the perfect Indian restaurant in Bay area is finally over :-) I will still go to Shalimar for my Chicken kebobs but I know where to go to when I need to eat Indian food.

I had a meeting on Palo Alto yesterday and i already knew about aasna since a few friends of mine who lives around San Jose area told me about it. So after completing my meeting i went there to get some food. I go there around 1:45pm and had an opportunity to try their buffet. Indian food has always been one of my fav food, however Aasna has some different and unique about their food. I loved butter chicken , chicken biryani , mixed vegetables and ofcourse naan. Since they have full bar, i will have go back again and taste some of those draft beers and margaritas I will update about the full dinner menu next time!

Went here today and it was empty. Host/server was nice enough to give us a booth and I brought my groupon. They were very punctual bringing us drinks and taking our order. We ordered chicken momo which wasn't all that but the mixed grill was amazing and the butter chicken was delicious just wish the portion on the butter chicken was a little bit bigger. There wasn't much curry. The servers are very attentive and management super nice. They refilled our drinks without us asking and brought everything in a timely manner. Will definitely go back.

This place gets my seal of approval. $12.95 for a lunch buffet on weekdays. It may be a bit more than I'm used to paying but it's worth it for the overall experience. 1) Staff is attentive and helpful 2) Management is great 3) Place is pretty clean. 4) Food is pretty good. What else can I really ask for? I get the feeling this place is going to be around for a while. **TIP** You won't be able to find this place by the name itself. I forgot the name of the sign up top but it is between penang garden and darda.

We love this place. We have been coming here for dinner almost every week since it opened. The food quality is very good and service is excellent. The server/manager Santos treats us like his personal guest. We love mixed grill and it is one of the best tandoori I have had. This is the only place I know which serves roomali roti. Their veg thali is a really good value if you are the only vegetarian in the group. I just wish they continue to maintain the quality of food and service.

We are huge fans of this wonderful restaurant. Everything we've tried on our various visits (always dinner time, have yet to try the lunch buffet) has been so flavorful and delicious. We've had outstanding fish, lamb, chicken, naan, puri, saffron rice, etc. The rice pudding dessert is perfect too. They just know how to cook so well here. The service is outstanding as well; everyone there is so kind & gracious, and one of the owners - Santos (I believe?) - goes above and beyond for his customers. Last night we brought my mom there for her to try it, and she is extremely sensitive to spicy food so we asked him to make everything as tasty yet mild as possible and he suggested these 3 dishes, and my mom absolutely LOVED every morsel! I can't speak highly enough about this place. Oh, and try the "Mustang" beer, imported from Nepal!

We recently dined at this restaurant based on a colleague's recommendation. I usually don't give out 5 stars but this place definitely deserves 4.5 stars in my book. The food was fantastic, the service excellent and ambience and decor was very pleasant. They didn't have the Quinoa salad but made up for it by giving us another item on the house. Will definitely visit again.

I had the Goat Curry along with plain Paratha and white rice. The Goat Curry was exceptional. The spices were strong and flavorful. It remind me of my travels throughout India. The servers were attentive and the food service is relatively fast. Highly recommended.

Solid new Indian place in the corner to the left of 99 Ranch. Great ambiance, good service, pretty darned good food, overall good deal and we very well might be back next time we're in the mood for Indian. Busy?: Boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night and the parking lot was jammed, but when we finally found Aasna--they hadn't gotten their sign installed yet, so we didn't spot it at first--it was relatively empty. Zero wait. Atmosphere: Quiet, dimly lit. Music playing but it stayed in the background. No obnoxious TV. White tablecloths and a lit candle on every table. Overall impression was that it's tasteful and reasonably romantic, though appropriate for families as well (lots of booth seating). Staff: The waitstaff was composed of extremely polite young Indian men who called us "madam" and "sir" all night. One even bowed when I thanked him for a water refill, which was maybe a little over the top! But service was quick and efficient and unobtrusive, which is all good. The only fault was that our waiter had a thick accent and there seemed to be a slight language barrier. E.g. boyfriend was trying to figure out if the iced tea came with milk, and that question did not seem to get across. He ordered it anyway and no, it did not come with milk, but he got free refills throughout the meal, so there's that. Freebies: Aside from the free iced tea refills, we got a "fried things with tasty sauces" appetizer on the house, which arrived almost as soon as we sat down. Nice. Maybe that was the equivalent of chips and salsa at a Mexican place, or bread and olive oil at an Italian place (i.e. a given rather than a freebie)... either way, it was well appreciated. We also got a buy-2-get-1-free (entrees) coupon as we came in. Sweet. Quantity: It was a good thing we ordered the 3 entrees; combined with the appetizer, naan, and rice, 2 entrees would have been enough for dinner, but not enough for leftovers for the next morning's breakfast. And finally, Food (entrees): We ordered vegetable korma, rogan josh (lamb), and chicken village curry. We ordered them all at the "mild" spiciness level. They were all pretty good. I'd say the rogan josh was the best--slightly spicy, very richly flavored, and the lamb was fork-tender. Yum! The chicken village curry was a little bland; we could've gone with medium spiciness there. The vegetable korma was good and had paneer in it, making it a more nutritionally balanced entree for a vegetarian, but I guess I'm used to a sweeter, nuttier korma. I know there's more than one legitimate way to make korma, though, so I won't knock it for not being my preference. Food (sides): The garlic naan was delicious. The plain naan was good, maybe a little too chewy. The saffron rice was tasty, but I'm not sure how much better it would have been than the regular rice. Food (drinks): The iced tea was unsweetened but fruity flavored. Reminded me of the mango black tea you can get at Trader Joe's. I got a mango lassi and it was very small, very sweet, and very thick--I actually poured some of my water in it to stretch it and thin it out! Not my favorite mango lassi. It didn't taste like it was made with fresh mangoes. Another reviewer mentioned Yoplait? Yeah, I can see that... Price: Our dinner for two ran about $45. All in all satisfactory for a "nice" dinner place. A good experience.

Ambiance is good. Open late Choice of items in the thali is impressive Cons- The thalis come with a high price tag of $16-20. The fish pakoda that came with the non veg thali had an almost glutenous piece of fish embedded in it.

We were looking for a venue for our son's birthday party in the Bay Area as most of our friends and family are out there. Found Aasna through a recommendation, and arranged to organize the party there. Santosh was super helpful in getting everything organized and was on top of all our needs. We strongly believe that guests always remember the food but can forget other things like the decorations. Almost every conversation about parties is about the food... how good or bad it is. FOOD was our first priority, and boy... did Aasna, Melange of India deliver!!! It has the most palatable cuisine outside India that I have tasted. I was told that the Chef has a stake in the restaurant.... which probably explains a lot. Five stars for the Food and Service. I would certainly go there again and again. Keep up the good work guys.

The food was bad, with over rated prices and the first thing that annoyed me was the smell as soon as I entered the place. The restaurant smelled very bad! And to add to it the glasses also stinked! I wouldn't go to this place again, and neither would i recommend it!

I just turned Vegetarian and decided to search for a place nearby and thank God I found Aasna. EVERYTHING was delicious and the service was great! I will tell all my peers about this place because it was worth every penny and some. Best curry place I've had in all the years I've been in The Bay Area. Great job, Sam! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

I'd say this place is overrated. Naan is supposed to be soft. Not hard as cardboard. Chicken is supposed to be succulent in the Biryani. Not burnt. Few bright spots though. Rasogullas were fresh and tasty. Not much variety for green veg preparations. ( no palak dishes at all) I'm not going back.

I was traveling for work and this place was walking distance from my hotel. I had their spicy fish tikka almost every evening. Hands down, it was the best fish tikka I have ever tasted. It was consistently excellent every time. Their onion kulcha and rumali roti were quite good as well. The service is good. I will be back again soon and will try the spicy fish tikka again.

We came here for dinner. We arrived after 7 p.m. and only 3 customers were there, but within the hour, more customers came in but not enough to fill up the place. A staff or two were outside the restaurant trying to promote the restaurant since it was new. (All other restaurants in the area were full due to Chinese New Year.) I read the Yelp reviews and saw the photos so I knew what the placed looked like upon entering. It is well appointed, clean, and well, a breath of fresh air from the other Indian restaurants in the Plaza. We were able to sit anywhere we liked. We were given a "free appetizer" of fried stuff (chickpea flour?) plus three condiments: tamarind chutney, cilantro/mint, and "mango pickles". The free appetizer was OK. Think of french fries that has been overcooked -- hard and crunchy. (In my opinion, I think papadums would have worked nicely as a free appetizer and leave it at that.) We ordered the Assorted Vegetable Platter to start followed by Coconut Fish Curry and Bharawan Baigan (baby eggplants) plus rice and plain naan. We ordered a sweet lassie and mango lassie, too. The sweet lassie tasted fine, but the mango lassie -- well, there was something about the taste that was hard to describe. We didn't like it. It tasted like "medicine" -- there was an ingredient in there that gave a certain after taste that it just didn't work well with us. Normally, we don't have any problems with it at the "chaat" houses, if you get my meaning, but in this place, either they are trying a new mango lassie recipe or they just don't know how to make a good one. (The owner was nice enough to take it off our bill so we appreciated it, though we didn't ask for it.) The Assorted Vegetable Platter was OK. It had 2 samosas, pakoda, aloo tikki, and one papadum. After awhile, they all started to taste the same. It didn't "wow" us or anything. It could be just the combination that made them all taste alike. The entrees were all good. We loved the Coconut Fish Curry -- smooth and creamy and melts in your mouth. It balanced well with the eggplants. As for dessert, we loved the Rasmalai. It was a perfect way to end our dinner. As for the music in the background, when we arrived, it was a bit loud and sounded like "rap music" which did not sit well with the atmosphere. You couldn't help but "notice" it (which is not a good thing). We had diffculty talking to each other across the table. But after an hour, the music changed to something more soothing and more appropriate for "dinner". We finally could hear each other across the table. (What a relief.) Overall, we liked Aasna. The service was great -- professional and all of that as expected when you have "white table cloths", right? I hope they can keep it up and tone down the music during dinner. After all, it is not the music that the people want to flock to a restaurant in the Plaza -- it's all about the food and good conversations. We'll come back again and try their buffet.

Update since my previous visit: still loving Aasna. This time, we had the champagne lunch buffet. $15.95 for a large variety of delicious food, plus champagne/chai. I can't speak to the meat dishes, as I have not tried them, but all of the veggie dishes I had were delicious. The food: The jackfruit was very tasty, though it was FAR beat by the eggplant. I cannot stress how much I love Aasna's eggplant. Whereas other restaurants' eggplant dishes have an overall flavor, I can taste all of the flavors in Aasna's eggplant. I strongly recommend you try it if you even remotely like eggplant. The naan was tasty, but it has fennel seeds, which aren't my favorite, so I opted to order the rosemary pesto naan again. This stuff is almost like a pesto pizza; so good! If you like pesto and Parmesan cheese, you will love this naan. The yoghurt dish, the name of which escapes me, was incredibly tasty, as well. The yoghurt sauce may be to die for. I haven't decided yet; I'll have to go sample more, give me a minute. Yep, you want to try this. Definitely. Just don't fill up on it, because there is so much more to try. The cottage cheese in bell peppers and onions was fabulous. I made sure to avoid the bell peppers (I don't like them), and only get cheese, onions, and sauce. I could eat a plate of just this dish. Love it. The potato/veggie cakes were very tasty, especially when dipped in mint chutney. I'm not a big fan of the tamarind chutney, but my lunch-dates said it was delicious. The pretzel-shaped dessert (looks essentially like an Indian funnel cake) was good, but a bit too sweet for my taste. If you like sweet and honey, you very well may like this. The dairy-cheese dessert, though! Oh. My. God. Mix that cheese up into the sauce, and I will eat that all day long. I could just drink the sauce, by itself. So good! Not too sweet, but just sweet enough to satisfy. I honestly think I had three bowls of this. The service: As before, the service was EXCELLENT. The staff was on top of everything, very friendly, and just all-around fabulous. If ever I needed a refill or a plate taken away, they were there, ready to go. Additionally, the owner came and chatted with us again, for a good five minutes. Very friendly, enthusiastic gentleman. You can tell he really takes pride in his work. Overall, this place is QUALITY. True, there are places where you can get a $12 buffet, but the quality of those places really does not compare. The price here is incredibly reasonable, especially for the number of options and the quality of the food. The only downside of this place: the fact that there aren't dinner buffets. :( I would love to come here for a dinner buffet, but I will just have to content myself with the lunch buffet, now. TL;DR: A+ restaurant; strongly recommend.

This place was awesome! The service, food, and environment was perfect! I'm not a huge fan of Indian food because most of the spots I've been to weren't as flattering, food wise. However, this place has great taste! I tried: - Strawberry Lassi (yogurt drink) tastes like yoplait - Garlic Naan (a must try) - Chicken Tikka Masala (tastes like butter chicken) - Bhuna Gosht (lamb chops) - White rice (green peas included). All tasted wonderful, I loved dipping the garlic naan into the chicken tikka sauce mmmm...I like how they don't overload with herbs and spices; therefore, it made it much easier to eat. In the end, my boos and I were so full, but they asked if we wanted to try any of their desserts, well as much as we did, we asked if we can try something small. Instead, they bring us this yummy smooth, milky, melts in your mouth Indian pistachio ice cream (not sure what it's called), on the house! Overall, they treated us great, this place is a must try and you will not be disappointed, I promise! I am a picky eater, so you can count on me! ;)

The ambiance is very good. Two stars are just for the ambiance. Food was bad. We ordered Tandoori chicken for appetizer, and there was nothing tandoori abt it. It tasted like under seasoned BBQ chicken. Rumali roti was cold. Biriyani was average. Food is over priced and there was nothing spl about the service either. I would not go here again.

  • Hoa Q.

The restaurant was clean, and the food tasted fresher and was not as oily as other Indian foods I've had. I enjoyed the lunch buffet, but I had to dock it stars for the line. My coworkers and I were lucky to arrive half an hour early, so we were able to quickly get what we wanted on the first trip, but subsequent trips to the buffet bar meant waiting in a really, really long, slow line. And there's no way to politely cut in just for a scoop of that one dish you prefer at the end of the buffet bar. If you didn't know to pile up on the first trip, you're pretty much screwed. Who has ever heard of going home from a buffet still hungry??

I have a bias towards milpitas indian restaurants for high-end dining and they have so far not disappointed me. The place is in the ranch market area and is easily accessible from 237 and parking is also not bad. The decor is very nice and it has a huge seating capacity. The customer service is very good and food is very delicious, not at all oily. Try their paneer or veggie platters. Price is a bit higher than average fare, but, it is worth it. Over all, the place is worth a try out.

Nice modern interior. Incredibly diverse menu. Astonishing service. And the food was to die for. I had the lamb rogan josh and chicken tika. They also have brown rice which is not too comon for Indian restaurants. Try the Taj Mahal beer too. Very tasty. I'm not going anywhere else for Indian now that I've been here.

Great interiors! Meeta paan ice cream - what an innovation! We ordered a katta meeta dahi papdi chaat (I hope the name is right). for starters. The way they presented it was nice. They have yummy tamarind and mint chutneys, which I've never found in the bay area. Then, we ordered Saag paneer, romali roti (awesome!!, must try), garlic naan for main course. The portions of the side dish were more than enough for two. In total, we had a great time.

Went here based on the yelp reviews. I am new to the Bay Area so haven't had a chance to try other Indian restaurants yet, but I am quite sure this is one of the good ones. Really liked the village chicken curry here - tasted very authentic. Will definitely go again. One big let down was the bugs in the parking lot. Literally a barrage of them! Aasna and other places in the complex definitely need to do something about it.

Been here for their weekend lunch buffet twice. Both times - more than satisfied. Good spread. Curries are distinctly different from other Indian cuisines. Good ambiance.

Awesome Ambience. Great Staff ( Was gratefully welcomed by Santosh). Great Food Nan were thin and pretty nicely baked. Mutter paneer and Paneer Makhanwala very exotically tasty. Bharwa Baingan was awesome too. Last but not least: Great Quality along with good amount of quantity.

I really wanted to like this one a lot. Been to so many indian restaurants and I wanted to try something different. Unfortunately, it did not live up to the 4-star rating on yelp. I gave it 1 star for the nice ambiance and the warm fresh naan at the table. But the food itself was all sooooo SALTY!!!!! good variation of dishes, I don't know what is the obsession with salt. It is definitely not a place for unhealthy, especially those who suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Either the cook was half asleep and didn't realize he was putting way too much salt on all the dishes or someone is sabotaging this place to deliberately make every meal salty!!!!! So sad. My friend friend even complained to them, the sounded like they were in agreement, but at least give a little compassion....offer a discount or a free meal or something. For a place trying to be "upscale", it just was not satisfying. I will never recommend this to anyone!

I wanted to give 3.5 stars but Yelp doesnt let you. I went here for the first time for a group lunch. Food was quite good - the paneer gravy was excellent (the way it should be), the rice was good ( most buffets mess up simple things such as rice inorder to make large volumes). The naan can be improved - it was dry and not cooked well. The variety was reasonable. I might consider it again for an Indian buffet near work.

Amazing taste and great addition to bay area. I often travel to bay area for business trip from Pittsburg and someone recommended this place for Dinner, came with colleagues and all of us appreciated taste. Service is very friendly and professional. Keep it up team Aasno. looking forward to visit again.

I wonder .. how this restaurant got 4.5 star rating .. We went for buffet This is worst in maintenance & quality of food ever seen so far. - Food was not hot - no Taste - waste of money - Disappointment So better avoid going to this place. In fact, I got sick because of this food.

I am a very picky eater and it's hard for me to find good tasting food. However, my taste buds were left wanting for more when I tasted their lunch buffet.I have various food allergies which already leaves me with few food options but the server was willing to adjust with that, asked the chef for the ingredients and I made my choices accordingly sweet! The sweet and sour fish was my favorite. I was amazed as to how many varieties were there even for buffet. The interior is just amazing! And the menu as well. Very organized, spacious, clean, delicious food and service! I couldn't ask for more! Definitely coming here when around the area!

This is my updated review after Sam, the owner of the restaurant invited us back to give them a surprise visit, after my last review. So after I received an invite from Sam, I decided to give them another chance as I saw a couple of yelpers having a good second experience. We went back and ordered the same dishes as we ordered last time. Everything tasted really good, fresh and the service was amazingly fast this time. Also note that we haven't told them about Sam's invite until the end. So I am sure the service has actually improved a lot from the last time we visited and it was not any special attempt they were making for an updated review. In the end, Sam himself came up to our table and explained us how important it was for him to maintain their customer's trust and the importance of maintaining that relationship with customers. Not many businesses give such importance to each customer of theirs and this is what that impressed me the most. But I still waited to update my review as I wanted to try the place one more time before finalizing my decision. We went back last week and ordered a couple of totally different dishes. We ordered an appetizer ( it was similar to onion pakora, can't recall the exact name from the menu), two vegetable curries and roti. Everything tasted amazingly delicious. So I decided to update my review finally and I am definitely going back to this place again.

Last minute dining out decision on a weekday and decent yelp reviews got us here. Experience was nothing extra ordinary. Ordered Veg platter (appetizer), Veg Korma, Paneer makhanwala & assorted bread basket. Pros: Decent ambiance, Good staff Cons: Food bland (salt deficient) and mild for our taste, over priced We would visit next time? May be, if don't want to drive too far and if we had a coupon.

The ambience is pretty good but the food not so much. It's your regular run off the mill indian food, nothing that'll make you go WOW. We were suggested to have Okra/bhindi and they said that everyone who has been there loves it. There were 8 of us, no one liked it.

  • Cheryl B.

The service was great, the ambiance was nice, but the food was not very impressive. The Malai Kofta had an over powering taste of lemon to it. The Vegetable Korma was bland. The butter naan was not soft and fluffy as I have come to expect from a good Punjabi place. I definitely will never be returning.

My husband and I stopped by for lunch last weekend because we love Indian food and Aasna had high ratings on Yelp. I'd literally researched it for all of 2 minutes on my phone. On a Saturday afternoon it's set up for lunch buffet, which is typically not my favorite, but Aasna's buffet was great. I unfortunately don't remember the exact names of what I ate, but chicken curry and tandoori chicken were both good; lentil dish was very good; a bunch of appetizer type veggie things were excellent and spicy. Rice was well cooked, and they had really fresh delicious watermelon set out on the salad bar, which was a nice end to my meal. This is weird, but their mint sauce was some of the best I've ever tasted, and I LOVE that sauce no matter where I go. Other things worth noting: the Aasna staff was super friendly and attentive. We never even filled our own water glasses, although they'd put a pitcher on our table, because they refilled them constantly without our asking. Quick removal of used plates, too, and endless refills of naan if we wanted them. The buffet includes a free drink, including a champagne option. We're new to San Jose, so maybe there's tons of great Indian food here and we'll figure that out soon enough, but compared to Indian restaurants in Boston and NYC, Aasna was WAY more delicious. I'd recommend the lunch buffet any time.

Great indian food! The rack of lamb and the butter chicken were delicious! We had a party of 12 and the service was outstanding. Very glad we chose this place based on yelp reviews. Some items are pretty spicy for whimpy people like myself but great flavor in everything.

Great food. Went because I had a Groupon coupon, but will come back again with or without one! The Rosemary Pesto Naan was amazing -- almost like a small pizza! The Dum Ki Chicken Biryani with the yogurt sauce was excellent, as was the Reshmi Kebab. The meal came with a free appetizer of some kind of pickled vegetables and two kinds of sauces. It was also very good. Some of the staff didn't speak or understand English very well, but that kind of made it more authentic. If they didn't understand, they quickly sent someone over who did. The service was superb. I definitely recommend it!

We went there in anticipation of having good Indian food but it didn't turn out that well. - Non-veg items were not good at all - No choice for appetizers - most of the items were over & it was taking lot time to get it In my opinion there are lot of good restaurants available in Bay area & they need to improve it if they have to stay in competition.

I hate to say it, but once other folks in Indian garb showed up, the attention given to us weary travelers went down. Fortunately, this didn't happen until the end of our meal, but I've had this happen to me and mine at other ethnic restaurants. That's not a good way to end an otherwise outstanding meal with, for the most part, good service and great food (except for the Samosas, which tasted store bought). Still, I hate waiting 20 minutes for a check when the kiddies are literally falling asleep. I'd go back, though, if in this very vibrant area as expressed in an amazingly diverse shopping center.

hmm, looking at the 5 stars reviews we decided to try this place for Sunday lunch. The food is mediocre at best, nothing really stood out. I mean it is not bad, but just too much creamy taste without any authenticity. And when you factor in the price tag of almost 16 dollars per person, it just doesnt cut it. If you are looking for Indian food, there are many other better option. On the positive note, the ambience and service is good.

Been here a few times now - for buffet and for dinner. Some good things about Aasna are roomali roti, kebabs, momos, ambience and hospitality. Most of the curries were over loaded with masalas and the three stars are because of that.

I always like to try new restaurants and Yelp is one of the best source to rely on. As usual, I found this new place over yelp itself and decided to go there for a family dinner. This place was just awesome. Everything that we tried was really very tasty, can't expect anything better. The service was also amazing quick. We have 2 kids - 9 yr and 5 yr old and our kids also enjoyed the food without any regular fussiness :). Below is what all we tried (we are a vegetarian family) Starter : - Roasted Papdum (Complimentary) Vegetarian Entrees: - Paneer Makhan Wala - Kadhai Mushroom Breads: - Garlic Naan - Rosemary Pesto Naan Dessert: - Mitha Paan Ice Cream We were greeted with a complimentary starter - Roasted Papdum. As we went around 9:30 PM, we were quite hungry and decided to directly jump upon the entrees. We ordered couple of entrees 'Paneer Makhan Wala' & 'Kadhai Mushroom' along with - 'Garlic' & 'Rosemary Pesto' Naans. Food came within 10 minutes, amazing service. Another best part was - all the servers wore a big smile on their faces, which surely makes you feel more comfortable. Our main server & the restaurant manager - Mr. Santosh was very pleasant, he was always there to make sure we are being served properly. Not a single time, we were required to wait - before we think, the servers were present for us to help us. If you are an ice-cream fan, please do no miss their 'Mitha Paan Ice Cream'. Its delicious, one of the best ice-creams I ever had. It made me remind of India, also of Nirvaana the great Bay area ice-cream parlour. To end with, Santosh gave us 10% off without any coupon or asking for that. Though this place is little pricey than other restaurants, but I would say its worth the taste and service they are offering. And how can forget to mention about the sweet Indian music/songs that they had put :). Overall, I would rate them in various categories as below : Food Taste - 5 star + Service / Staff - 5 star + Ambience/Seating arrangements - 5 star + Cleanliness - 5 star + This place is hardly established 4 weeks back and there are already 31 yelp comments with an overall 4.5 rating. I think that already speaks a lot about it. Yelpers please remember, these people still haven't put a permanent business sign board yet. Its in the 99 ranch complex, please make sure - you don't get lost. Santosh - I'll see you again soon. Thanks for being so kind and helpful. It really made our experience wonderful. And see I kept my promise that I'll be 32nd yelp reviewer for you :). I wish I could have an option to give you 5.5 out of 5 ;). Just realized, I wrote so much. My biggest yelp comment so far :). All because of you, Santosh!!! Dear Yelpers!!! Go and Have fun at this place. Am sure, you won't have any regrets. Cheers.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note to owners: - As I mentioned in my above comment, overall this place is really great and I would surely try this place again. But if you want your happy customers like me to come here more often, you surely might need to think about reducing your prices to a certain extent. For ex. a fixed Veggie Thali for 17.95 and a Non -- Veg Thali for $21.95 itself speaks about your place a being more pricey. I had been to so many Indian restaurants in Bay area but never seen a fixed thali costing so much. Please don't take this as an offence. I'm your happy customer and really want you to grow so that I can keep coming here and keep enjoying the great food and service. - And please get your permanent business sign board soon. It will also help you a big time.

The food, no doubt, is 5 star.. But the manager is really really rude. He does not know the meaning of customer service or to please customers. I visited this place thrice before and never saw this manager then. We were always served by one Nepali, who also offered good suggestions. But, this new manager made me decide never to go to this place again. Till last visit, I would have given the place 5-star.

The food and service is excellent! The Lamb and fish curry are all very tasty. We had a group dinner with 10 people, the food was prepared to perfection. We had a long meal till pretty late, way past closing time, but the waiters were all very attentive and friendly. We even got a free bottle of wine with our meal. Highly recommended!

I've been to numerous Indian restaurants in the South Bay and am very familiar with Indian food. I experienced delicious food and high quality service the few times I've been here. Many Indian restaurants are severely lacking in service, or the ingredients they use are terrible (i.e. as cheap as possible), but Aasana staff and management puts effort into the decor, presentation, taste and service! The naan is always fresh and warm. My favorite dishes here are the Paneer Kadahi, Paneer Tikka, Bharawan Baigan and Panchmela Daal. I suggest getting them spicier than the default level (as with any Indian restaurant).

The food was fantastic. Everything we had was excellent. The tandoori chicken was some of the best we had. Naans were super delicious. Make sure you get their chicken tikka masala. Be prepared for a heavy meal thought. They definitely use a lot of butter in all their food.

Hey guys...this is the place you need to get going. We reserved the banquet hall and what a treat. I don't have any words to explain. What a service, what a attitude, and what a food. We are all Indians and we are absolutely over the moon. This is by far the best Indian restaurant in whole area. People, do yourself a favor and check them out.... I am sure you will love them from decor, ambiance, food, service and drinks.

After my first rating few days back; the owner (Sam) took my feedback positively, I received a prompt respond via Yelp and also in person. So, as promised to one of my co-worker I went back again today (Yes, 3rd time within a week). I saw that he had put ALL possible effort to rotate his menu, he showed me a chart how he plans to improve the varieties also gave 50% discount on my total bill today (which I think he should have done last time). I am giving him four stars because he wants to improve and maintain customer satisfaction, which is a key factor in restaurant business. I think the tandoori chicken can use little more flavor.. Rogan Josh was great.. over all the food is great... Until next time.. I hope he maintains what he has promised.

Four stars for the food . Three stars for the price tag. The food here is fresh and tasty . They had some interesting vegetarian choices. We tried the panch Mel dhal, the quinoa salad , rumali roti and a nonalcoholic drink( mango Rita). Everything was tasty. We paid $50 Plux tax with a 10 for 15 yelp coupon, a little steep .

Best Indian I had in Milpitas! The buffet is really good and the butter chicken and shahi paneer are simply the best. Also I liked their chaat offerings and the steamed veggies (corn, potatoes, panner, onions and peppers) were good way to start the meal. Definitely a place I will go at least once a week!

This restaurant is very cute. Very classy decor. One thing I really like about it is that you can have the option of half your party eat buffet and u can just order whatever dish you want. The buffet choice for weekend lunch is $15.99 per person but it includes wine/champaigne or chai tea. They have a nice selection of vegetarian and meat options. I ordered lemon rice and saag paneer. The saag paneer is super delicious! Very spicy also but the creaminess of the spinach balanced it out quite nicely. However the rice was a disappointment. The lentils in there is not cooked properly so it's very hard. The rice is on the drier side. I tried some of the paneer masala, eggplant in yogurt sauce, jackfruit salad, various desserts from the buffet table. Jackfruit salad was super spicy!!! But nothing to ride home about. Eggplant in yogurt sauce is a cold dish. It's salty and I would say it is an acquired taste. After a few tasting I want to just continue sipping the sauce. But the eggplant in it is dry and hard. The paneer masala was very good! Tomatoey but creamy. Well balanced. The desserts were very sweet! So I didn't like it as much.

Yummy food! Came here during the afternoon after a long hike at Mission Peak, and it was well worth it! Me and my boyfriend were starving and we were checking reviews on yelp. This place had 5 stars across the board! It's only $13 per person for the lunch buffet! The service is awesome. I always had my water glass filled (: and we didn't have to wait to eat at all! I think the best dish is the buttered chicken! It's to die for! Especially with unlimited naan (Indian bread)! The strawberry and mango lassi are amazing, too!

Ambience was really good. Ordered Bharwan baigan and it was really good. Mughalai Vegetable Biryani was also good. Definitely will recommend this place. After 2nd visit: I changed my 5* to 3* I went for lunch buffet and it made me reduce the rating. 1. There were hardly any veggie choices. Infact there were very few choices over all for veg and non veg and I don't think that that qualifies as buffet. There was 1 vegetable entree and 1 non-veg entree. There was only 1 non-veg soup. I was expecting to have a veg soup as well. 2. There were only 2 vegetarian main dishes. One was eggplant and another was dal, which went bad. It was not just me, but all of us at the table felt the same. When I pointed out that, I was told that, that is how the dal tastes and said it was fine. I cook at home and I think I am confident to tell the difference between a sour dal and the dal that went bad. After we complained he diluted the same and served as soup :-( 3. The naans were also bad. And they were served after lengthy wait times. 4. There was only non-veg biryani and the only option left for me was white rice, with dal that went bad. 5. There was no regular sambar/fry which is usually part of buffets. 6. Finally our meal ended with 1 sweet which tasted average. 7. For a buffet something like this paying $15 is way too expensive. I was expecting lot of options for that price.

My family and I came here on a Tuesday night, so there was plenty of seating. Ambiance = dim lighting/ relaxed. We ordered garlic Naan, rosemary Naan, butter chicken, coconut fish curry, and brown baskets rice. I've had better Naan elsewhere - the garlic one wasn't garlic-y enough, and the rosemary was too salty for me. The butter chicken was rich and creamy, and the chicken itself was soft and cooked just right. The star for the night though was the coconut fish curry. Fragrant and punching with flavor and just the amount of spice, I would definitely order it again the next time. Service was great! The waiters were all very attentive, and it was nice that they suggested to go with a mild spice for the fish curry (he was explaining to us that they use a specific kind of curry powder for this one, and it's known to be very spicy). The waiters also made sure to check on us, see if everything was to of satisfaction, and gave us discount cards for next time. Total for everything was around $36.

My husband and I had dinner at this place over the weekend. We loved the food, ambience, music that was playing and the hospitality of our waiter (Santosh). We definitely will be coming here often! We ordered aloo chana chat -- excellent kulcha/naan -- excellent bhindi subzi -- very good, my only gripe, it had more onions/tomatoes than bhindi some tandoor pompfrei stuff--my husband liked it, he needed more spices in it, although our waiter suggested that next we just need to let him know while ordering mango mojito mocktail -- excellent Lassi -- good

The food and atmosphere here is amazing. The variety of dishes ranged from fresh fish to goat biryani to Tandoori chicken. All fresh all completely delicious. The veggie dishes were tasty too. The influence is Nepalese/Indian and the spices were perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant in walking distance to great hotels.

I somehow get the feeling that many of these reviews are made up... If you are an Indian, and if you think that the food here is amazing, I would be really surprised. There are tons of better Indian restaurants in the bay area, which are way less expensive. We had a very bad experience with the food here. The service and ambiance was good though. The server recommended the momos for appetizers and it was really bad. The papad that they served was very stale. Bottom line: dont be misguided by the good reviews it has. And it is expensive too. I initially thought that it was probably a one-off day that the food was bad, but spoke to 3 other frds and realized they all had the same opinion about the restaurant and thats the primary reason for this review

  • Tic t.

Not sure what the hype is about this restaurant. I visited this place today. 17$ for lunch buffet. Standard buffet items that you receive any Indian restaurant for around 10-12$. So for the higher price, i expected more. But I found that the items are less compared to other Indian restaurants. The rice was dry. The Nan was not cooked properly. Definitely, not worth the money.

Aasna is a wonderful new restaurant amongst the million Indian restaurants in the bay. The ambiance is great with soft music, dim (but not too dim!) lights, nice interiors and comfortable seating. The food is (and should always be) the best part. It seems to have a delicious touch of Nepali spices in the flavors. We ordered the panch daal (five lentils) and dum aloo (slow cooked potatoes) with thr roomali roti (cloth-soft Indian bread) and rice. All of the dishes were cooked to perfection. The service was very good with attentive and polite waiters. As is the case with all new restaurants, the first year is usually the best w.r.t. the taste and service but its usually downhill thereafter. Hope this one proves otherwise!

went for lunch and have to say that it is pricy and not enough choice. im used to eat indian food (30% of the time). im really not interested whether it is authentic. it needs to taste good. meaning a good mix between spices and veggies or meat. The mango lassie had a good taste. the food was ok, not the best I have ever had in the Milpitas area. in my opinion a little bland. Clean environment. Good for a quick business lunch.

Friends recommended and this is what I found on a Sunday luncheon: Excellent service - 5 stars Cleanliness- 5 stars Food- 5 stars Spacious- awesome for group event too Interior- Reflects cultural richness with artistic collection of crafts. Ambience Overall- 5 stars - Food was great- mild and delicious overall. - Complimentary Champagne during lunch. - Mouth watering pani puri- 5 stars - Goat curry - what else can I ask for buffet? - Served fresh Jilebi for desserts- you can see how clean and beautifully they prepare em behind the visible glass wall. Now &$$$ It's close to $15.00-- it seems expensive. But the food they serve for lunch is incredibly magnificent with champagne, goat curry and all other varieties, it's worth it. Wish I could find same priced restaurant here at Portland area without compromising taste of food which I had at this place. Now I know where to go for lunch buffet next weekend ( Sunday) when I will be going back to Bay Area again. Recommend to go!!!

Great addition to the area. A notch above the typical mall restaurant! Rogan Josh was extremely tender with compelling rich flavors. Will come back for sure.

We went to the lunch buffet today. The food and service are excellent. The selections in the buffet were different from what I normally see in Indian food buffets, and the food was piping hot and delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs, even making a substitute dessert for a diner with a food allergy. They give 5-star service! I would encourage anyone to try this restaurant. You will want to return and might also hire them to cater a function for you.

I was invited in to Aasna on my way to another restaurant, by a friendly waiter that was standing outside. I am sure glad I tried this restaurant. The decor is upscale. If you want a nice place where you can take a client and experience exceptional service, great food and a trendy super clean restaurant, this is for you. Everyone at this restaurant is sincerely friendly and engaging. Perfect also for date night or nights out with family and friends. Try it you will have a wonderful experience!

I've had more than my fair share of Indian food, and this place is certainly one of the best. They have many items on their menu, and so far all that I have tried (12-15) have ranged from solid to stellar. Best saag paneer ever! The buffet is really good (4 stars), but for dinner Aasna is consistently fantastic. Definitely worth trying and well worth visiting regularly!

Food was OK, but not stellar, considering the price I paid. I won't be going back unless a friend drags me there.

We had my Brother and Sister in law's anniversary lunch party here. The venue--a special party room with a capacity of about 40 -50 people-- is BEAUTIFULLY decorated. The Food was Excellence and the Service was very professional. If you need to do a slideshow, you would need to bring your own projector but it is possible to have a slideshow projected on the back door or on the wall. We had a great time and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to host a party or just ti have a nice dining experience.

Delicious flavorful indian food that tastes great! The village curry chicken is very tender and bursts with spices and seasonings. Everything is so tasty here. Quick take out service. Exceptional indian restaurant.

Awesome food, great ambiance and great service. Everything we ate was very fresh. And it wasn't heavy like the other Indian buffets I have been to. It was really good and definitely recommend it to anyone who is craving yum Indian food.

The food is the best Indian in town - bar none. It's a couple of bucks more than other buffets but worth it. The service is pleasant and the food plentiful. The only drawback is if their banquet room is occupied, the line through the buffet moves very slowly and you cannot go back for seconds without waiting again so everyone piles on more and more slowing everything down. Just check to see if the banquet room door (on the right) is open before going in.

Great food, service and amazing decor. We will definitely be back for more with family and friends. They have a great selection of menu and their dessert (mango cheesecake) was off the hook!!!!!!

Pretty good indian food. Be careful about the yelp deal. Its not valid on fri and sat and they wouldn't budge. Now I have the deal I need to use sun to thu which is not convenient due to the distance. Other than that - decent food and service.

Husband and I checked out this place based on yelp reviews. We went for Sunday brunch! They had a champagne brunch!!!! I have never seen an Indian restaurant that offered this before. The place has a contemporary interior with a nice ambiance. I was very impressed with the food. The goat, butter chicken, choley, curry, and dal are all very good. Best part was the jalebi. The manager (Santosh) got us fresh jalebi made in accordance to our liking! Such great service! We will be back again Aasna.

This is probably one of the best restaurants in the area! The food is cooked perfectly and tastes so fresh!!! The service here deserves 10 stars! The manager and the wait staff are so attentive and we have never had to ask even for our water to be filled. The food is brought out to our table hot and quickly. The atmosphere here is so cozy and there is soothing music playing while we enjoy our meal. This is our new favorite spot to eat in the area. Our favorite foods are the goat curry, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, chana masala. One time we tried the thali and it was so good! There was so much food left over because we couldn't finish everything. Next time I would like to try the lamb. I saw someone order a big rack of lamb and it was presented so well and smelled very good! Everything that we have ever ordered looked and tasted so good! I would definitely tell anyone who wants great tasting Indian food to come here. My husband loves eating Indian food here since it reminds him so much of the quality food he eats back home.

Me and my wife went there on Feb 14th to have some quality time... I was immediately impressed by their warm-welcome! All staffs were surprisingly nice and pleasant which is LOST ART in most of the Indian Restaurant in Bay Area. Their décor and Ambien was very welcoming with soft music playing on background. I like the fact that there is ample amount of space between two tables and I could move my arms freely without banging people behind me :) We ordered Lollypop Chicken, Nepali Style Chicken dumpling for starter and Chicken Tikka masa and dum-aaloo with garlic naan. All their food were cooked to perfection with amazing service! Food was fresh with right amount of spices...(Not super hot..Chilli Hot). This Place was very crowded probably because of Valentine's day and our food took longer than normal to reach our table. Owner and manager apologize for the delay and explained us that they were not expecting so many guests at the same time (7:30-8:30 Pm). They offered us free dessert (Mango Cheese cake!) for the delay so can't complain(Unless this is the trend and I hope not). I will definitely come-back here again.

I had a groupon for a carwash in Milpitas and decided to have Indian food, so took a quick look at Yelp on my phone, found Aasna, saw good ratings, didn't look closely at photos or reviews, and bought a voucher. I felt a little awkward when I realized I was entering a white table-cloth restaurant, but the staff was very welcoming. I ended up having a green salad, dal, carrot halwa and some fresh mint tea. The dal (I think it was described as having five kinds of lentils in it) was well done, with a nice blend of flavors and textures and just the right level and kind of spiciness. I love spicy food, but it shouldn't be the dominant note in a dish, you know? The carrot halwa was also quite good - warm and a little cirspy, with a nice blend of nuts and coconut mixed in. The tea and salad were both quite pretty. I didn't order rice or naan, in spite of being encouraged to do so by the owner (I think he was the owner.) The dark, warm interior and the new-agey music were both soothing and invigorating. Next time, I'll come back with a date or a friend or two for a nice night out.

Omg, is this my go-to place for Indian (buffet) food?! I think so! The ambience of this place is classy, but definately suitable for the casually-dressed. My friend and I came here for lunch, and of course, with this place being located near a business area, tons of employees drop in for lunch here...luckily we came in good timing and was able to be seated in less than 2 minutes... Customer service here is SUPERB...from the front of the house to the servers, every single one of them was very friendly...they never let our waters go empty and frequently (but not overbearingly) asked us if we needed anything else... The day we went, there were 7 vegetarian dishes, and I think 4 others that were not...everything i put on my plate was delicious...I went back twice...I have no idea what the names of the dishes were, well most of them with the exception of a couple, but i can tell you it was very good haha... -Tandoori chicken, the chicken biriyani, sauteed veggie dish, and the tofu, were all very good...my fave dish was the sea bass in yellow curry...something like that...man, was that good...I had a bunch of other stuff on my plate, but these are all that I could remember haha... They serve you complimentary naan as well, which is always good soaking up all those sauces The price for lunch isn't all that bad either, especially since it's all you can eat...with tax, it's $14.90... Yes, I'll be back here...it's only a matter of when :)

Great vegetarian food. Something that I had expected not to expect from an Indian place here. For starters, you get free papads and 3 chutneys. Crunchy enough! For the main course, we ordered Garlic naan, kadhai panner and lamb biryani. The garlic naan and kadhai paneer were the best I have had here in the bay area. So 5 stars for that. The lamb biryani was disappointing for my husband. It was cooked well, but there wasn't any salt in it. Really? It is such a bad thing to not have salt in your dish! Highly recommend kadhai panner to anyone reading this. You won't be disappointed!

Don't see what the 4-star rating is about. We came back disappointed with the food and service and not wanting to go back again. Was a light day so not many customers, but still messed up order. I didn't want to wait for food so didn't change the order. Food was not great at all, Chicken Momos, Malai Kofta very disappointing, Thali had palak paneer with one tiny piece of Paneer in it! On top of that 20% service charge was forced in the check. We did not want to tip for sub par food and service but were forced to. Only way of making up is to post a review here and let others know what to expect. Giving two stars one for the Biryani which was good and one for rice kheer they served trying to make up for the issues.

This place has a very nice ambience to it. They have used a lot of craft and artifacts from India. After seeing so many pictures of "Rosemary Pesto Naan" here on Yelp, we absolutely wanted to try it out. So, we ordered these Naans along with Butter Chicken and Kadhai Paneer. The Naans were too heavily topped with Cheese. They were good but the cheese was overpowering the Naans. We found it to difficult to even finish one per person. The Butter chicken was little runny but tasty. Kadhai Paneer was good. We will visit this place to try something different next time.

Arrived here, thrilled about the Groupon deal I discovered, and left unappeased. Ugh. No expectations, no disappointments--but due to the glowing reviews, we were really expecting a hefty load of gratifying flavors. + Chicken MoMo $7.95, per my fiancé, as it is a popular dumpling from Nepal. Unfortunately, we both agreed that the flavors were rather ' straight out of the package' subpar. + Tandoori Chicken Half $9.95: Their allegedly "All Time Favorite" bone-in, marinated overnight chicken was as dry and tasteless as the side of garlic naan that we also ordered. Same exact letdown as the aforementioned dish. + Rojan Josh $14.95: This dish was borderline acceptable because of the generous pieces of lamb, that also came with equally generous pieces of...bone. The curry wasn't as fragrant and full-flavored as it ought to be. Service was adequate. To me, the venue had an unnecessary elegance. In the end, we won't be back, even though we received another coupon deal from our server, after our dinner.

Wow, definitely a lot of variety and a crowd of people because the place is so big. Parking is pretty hard to find because it is in Milpitas square. We arrived at 11:50 and got seated right away. We got a little bit of everything to try and then the lines started to get very long. A couple of our favorites were the fried potato balls, paneer marsala (?), and fish curry. I also liked how they had mixed fruit. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I'm used to the bold, strong flavors and Aasna was a bit more mild in flavors. I also wish they had more meat dishes, the meat variety seemed to be very lacking.

I've come here a few times for the Sunday buffet, and each time I'm amazed when they ask if we want champagne or wine. The foods are all very delicious--the goat!! and I'd assume it's authentic as you will find very few non-South Asian folk in the room. If it's not, then woops! But I quite like the food here...meats are always tender and moist, curries are yummy and naan is made perfectly. Only hting is that each dish is extremely spiced and flavored, and may become overwhelming--the flavors begin to blend together and suddenly you're just eating a whole bunch of textured spices. No lie, I think I'm biased to a location in Socal, but this is my top joint for now in Norcal.

Went for weekend lunch buffet. They had lot of vegetarian options. Baigan Bharta, Arbi Palak, Mattar Panner, Tawa Vegetables, kadhi Pakodas, Dal Makhani. Everything tasted good. Except Kadhi Pakoda was little on the salty side. I have had much better Dal Makhani, this one was just OK. They had 3 desserts, I loved their beetroot with chocolate dessert, it tasted really good. The kheer was great as well. Dahi vada was too sour for me. We went on a Sunday during long weekend, it was practically empty, only 4 tables were filled. I hope the regular weekends are busy. I liked the place, very clean, nice wall decors, good food, will be coming back here.

Best goat curry so far compared to other indian restaurants, butter chicken was just OK. Restaurant has enough seating and its perfect if you are in big group. I would definitely recommend this place for buffet.

This place is my families' ultimate favorite place to get Indian food! The location from the outside of the parking lot doesn't look like the kind of place that you could go to enjoy a relaxing an fine dining experience, but once you are inside you truly get a fine dining experience. The staff is friendly, and the dining area is dimly lit and decorated nicely. The aromas of amazing tandoori fired grill and curries loom in the air. Check in with Yelp and get a bottle of house wine in white or red to share with your table. I love how they serve a plate of free papadoms as an appetizer with a selection of chutney to choose from. The waiters are all SUPER attentive to keep your water refilled and additional papadoms should you want more. We have ordered their assorted vegetable platter, chicken momo, but our favorite is their samosa chat, it is divine! Hint of sweet flavors wrapped in a little spice, so good! Our children LOVE their butter chicken, soft and tender bits of tandoori chicken in a cream style tomato curry, we always order two, one for each of the, it's literally that good. Our family favorite is their lemon rice, it is fragrant with hints of lemon and lentils throughout, it is service birght in color with delicate flavors and is a great addition to their curries. Their eggplant curry, (Bharta Baigan Ka) was creamy and spicy! Delicious! Pair that with a Mango Lassi to cool down your palate. My current favorite is their cocnut fish curry and their Tandoori Fish and Prawn, so so good, the best I have ever had. When all other places seem to have long waits or require reservations, this place is a a slice of heaven, romantic and quiet, incredible service and AMAZING FOOD!

Came here on a Saturday evening around 6:30 PM with friends. Party of 7 with three little kids. There was only one other family there eating dinner so we had the pick of any table and were immediately seated. It's a tad dark inside, but nothing awful. It was a warm day (~ 92 degrees) so we were Hoping for some nice air conditioning. It was a tad warm in the restaurant. My phone app registered 73 degrees. Our waiter promptly filled out water glasses and brought a plate of fried papadams accompanied by a trio of chutneys (green spicy, tamarind, and the third was a pickle of some sort. Very tasty- slightly sour and spicy). We ended up ordering chicken tikka masala, village curry (recommended by our waiter), fish pakora, mixed kebob plate, chicken biryani, garlic, pesto and butter Nans. Everything was tasty! The village curry was excellent and a nice change of pace for some of our usual dishes. Overall great food!

Enjoyed both the lunch buffet and dinner here on a few occasions. We usually get garlic naan, paneer makhani, biryani, and a chicken dish. So far, we have not been disappointed with the food. Additionally, the service is prompt and pleasant. The only gripe I have this is the nicer than casual atmosphere, including white table cloths. Particularly since the other restaurants in this plaza are more casual I want this place to have the same vibe when I come here.

I came here for the buffet for a team lunch on a weekday around noon, and we had a space to ourselves. I tried a bit of a lot of items: butter chicken, tandoori chicken, goat curry, chicken biryani, vegetable curry, naan, and the mint chutney. The tandoori chicken wasn't hot, and I feel like it had been sitting out for a while; excepted I guess for a buffet. The flavor also wasn't very strong. The other meat items were really salty and I was thankful for the naan. The mint chutney was more sour than I think chutney should be, and the vegetable curry was probably my favorite food item. The naan was fluffy and soft, probably another highlight. I probably won't be back here again; quality is just not up to par.

Sorry. Not a fan! This restaurant has nice ambience and great food but if there is anything these folks can learn is Service. Except the manager (I guess), other folks are very rude in treating customers which spoils the whole mood of having dinner. We started dining at 9 and I knew they close at 10 so we made sure our order was in. Have been to a lot of other places and it's a nice gesture to at least stay open until the diners are done eating which I usually compensate with a fat tip (I know that you're going above and beyond to stay past your closing time) but not this place. Turn off lights so that I can't even see what I'm eating, great! Maybe next time, I see some improvements on that department. Nice masala tea, btw.

This restaurant was one of the more highly rated Indian places in the area, and was in a plaza across the street from my hotel. It was not too crowded for dinner (at around 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday). Service was fairly prompt, and the menu selection was good. I had Vegetable Korma, garlic naan, and white rice. Since I had nowhere to store perishable leftovers, I tried to finish the dish, and almost made it. I did save some naan as an early-morning pre-flight snack for the next day. The food was tasty; I would consider returning here if I were in the area (though there is no shortage of places to choose from in this area).

Good food. Quite Indian food similar to what you get In India with decent prices $$ Get the Rosemary pesto naan Palak paneer is great Chicken tikka masala is too watered down in curry

Butter Chicken was one of the best I've ever had. Garlic Naan was also good, the fennel seeds in the Naan added to the taste. Prices are a little high for Bay Area, but that was not an issue for me.

If you're looking to spoil your occasion, this is the number ONE restaurant ! It was my birthday and my husband had booked a table for us and invited some friends over. My husband had to request the waiters thrice to check if the AC was On or not. On asking for the third time the AC was turned On. We all completely hated the service and the extremely rude behavior of the waiter serving us Jiwan. He started with telling us 'Indians don't like tomato soup! ' and ended with 'Are you done?' Coz I need to clean up the dishes ! Seriously? ??? He needs to get a life ! What poor service. Owner, if you are reading this, this guy doesn't fit his job. And you have for sure lost us and many other referral customers. Coming to food: Appetizer platter (samosa+aloo tiki+veg pakora) : ** Tomato soup - 1* (i mean minus 1* here) worst in my life Lentil soup -2** it tasted like it was spoilt & the waiter said thats how its supposed to be! Like we don't know how indian food tastes. Malai kofta - ** Paneer kadhai *** Rosemary pesto naan *** Garlic naan ** Roomali roti * very hard, its supposed to veey soft so that it melts in ur mouth Rose ice cream ***

I came here for dinner on a Monday night. I wasn't exactly sure where the place was located within the plaza, since Siri wasn't too specific regarding the location. I wandered around the parking lot until an employee, who was passing out promo cards, directed me to the restaurant, which I had actually been walking in the opposite direction of. Not only did I find out where I needed to go (this place does not have a very obvious sign!), but I also scored a free entree with the purchase of two entrees. So, thank you Kirin (sp?)! There are a great deal of promos here. Groupon has a promo, the business card has a promo, and when you get your bill, there's some more promos in there too! Regardless of the reason for the promos, Aasna can be a very affordable dinner option depending on what you order. Aasna is very classy looking, although it still maintains a casual ambiance. When I got there, the place was actually incredibly empty. Then again, it was a Monday. By the time I left, there were only about 5 other tables occupied. The service is incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive towards addressing the needs of the patrons. The servers pointed out some of the more popular dishes, answered any questions we had, and also checked in on us regularly. The food here was incredibly good! I ordered the butter chicken. Even though it comes in a separate dish that looks akin to family style, the order is enough for one person. My companion ordered two lamb dishes. The lamb dishes -- one was spicy, whereas the other wasn't too bad -- were pretty good, but I thought the butter chicken was delicious. We also got some naan -- plain and garlic -- and both were really tasty, but I think I liked the garlic one more. In addition to our food, the restaurant also provides complimentary seasoned chip-like things, which although I'm not sure of the name of, were really tasty! From our promo, we also got a free rice-pudding dessert thing, which I had never had anything quite like before, but I liked it ! All-in-all, I would love to give this place another try sometime soon -- especially their lunch buffet.

Came here for the first time because we wanted to try a new place. To my surprise it was a good experience. The restaurant is huge and its decorated very beautifully! Staff was great! Wonderful service and recommendations. 5/5 Salted Lassi: had a strong zeera but it was very freshening 4/5 Complimentary papad: not a fan of papad but tried it so I can write something lol good papad and all three chutneys were really good too 5/5 Garlic naan and pesto naan: garlic naan was good and it was soft and crispy 5/5 the pesto naan was also really good! It was a bit heavy though so I didn't really want to keep eating it 4/5 Paneer tikka masala: it was pretty good but not the best I have had. I didn't like the big pieces of paneer but that's a personal preference. Had a strong tomato paste taste but it wasn't over powering. Good dish overall 4/5 Daal makhani: also a good dish. Tasted good but then again it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. 4/5 Rice was cooked well. Had peas and carrots 5/5 Overall, a good place to eat. The food was not something I haven't had before but I would still come back if I don't feel like driving to my other favorite spots.

Good food and service. Nice ambience too... Tried the shrimp koliwada, butter chicken, and dum chicken biryani... The best part... They had ROOMALI roti !! How awesome is that !! I've been craving that ever since I moved here... Good postion size.. you can taste the quality too... They serve free papad along with chutneys... All good... But I still am waiting to find an Indian restaurant in the bay area that provides a finger bowl at the end of a meal ... Thats what would make it my best Indian restaurant !!

This restaurant had good service and inside decor was very nice. It also seems like a nice place for a romantic dinner. The shahi chicken, paneer tikka, and butter chicken were good. The chicken tikka was ok, I've had it better at other restaurant, and same thing with the chicken momos. Only thing that I thought was weird was that when you order an entree from the dinner menu nothing was included with it (meaning no sides such as a naan or rice), at other Indian restaurants majority of the time one side either naan or rice is included with the dinner entree, but at this restaurant no side is included and must be purchased separately.

I come to this shopping center quite often but didn't have a clue this restaurant existed until I saw the invite to an UYE. What a great find! Many thanks to the awesome organizers Janet O., Ari W. and Linda P.! It was nice to meet other Yelpers, new and veteran alike. My wife and I enjoyed the evening. The decor of the place was neat. There were images of Hindu deities, tapestries and chimes on the walls. The wait staff was very friendly and provided good service. We started with Aloo Tiki (Potatoes and Bean Patties) which was on the house. The patties were pretty good with the chutney sauces. We ordered the crab cakes. Unfortunately, this was the one sour note to the evening. They were over-fried on the outside and mushy inside. The Chicken Korma was amazing! I loved the flavor of this dish. The saffron rice was great on its own but also perfect for soaking every bit of the Korma sauce. Didn't want it to go to waste :D Parmesan Rosemary Pesto Naan was really good. They gave us a good portion of the shaved parmesan and it was a good combination with the rosemary and pesto. I am not drawn to Indian food generally. Maybe it's because the spices always seem intimidating to me. (Yes, I'm still at the entry level when it comes to spicy food.) That being said, I definitely will come back to Aasna. I can actually taste their food without burning my tongue too much.

Went in yesterday, April 23 2015 at 5:15pm. The restaurant was empty but the Yelp reviews were good. I ordered the Momo chicken appetizer and the Paneer Mahkan Wala with rice and a mango lassi. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. My water was always full. The papadum crackers tasted a little funny but the dips were good. My food took a little long to prepare, about 30 minutes but I wasn't in a hurry. A friend came in and joined me. We were both staying at the Crowne Plaza across the street. One hour into the meal I felt bloated and could not finish my dinner. I had not eaten much to be feeling this way. I was glad when the check finally came because I was beginning to feel nauseous. I walked across the street to the hotel went straight to my room and started vomiting. I was able to sleep for two hours that night but my stomach cramps kept me up most of the night. I saw my friend early that morning but he was feeling okay. We shared most of the meal the night before, but not the papadums or the dips. I had to call in sick from work that morning and have my wife drive from Santa Cruz to come get me at the hotel. It has been almost 24 hours now and I am still ill. I won't be going back to Aasna or any other Indian restaurant for the foreseeable future. Scott

Always on the search for the elusive 5 star Indian restaurant, we took a turn at Aasna. The large East Asian Buddhist art pieces, the long wine list, fusion dishes including the likes of edamame & pesto, above-average price tags, & the lack of Indians informed me that I wasn't going to find it here. I was poised & ready for attack, but ya know, it wasn't half bad. The menu was decidedly Northern, so we opted for a few standards to test Aasna's core competencies. ***BUTTER CHICKEN - Shredded tandoori chicken cooked in a creamy tomato sauce About as traditional a dish of Butter Chicken as you can expect to taste. Sweet & tangy, sufficiently creamy. Nothing groundbreaking here flavor-wise--they followed the indianfood.about.com recipe pretty exactly; however, I prefer bigger chunks of chicken rather than the small shredded strips offered here. ***BHUNA GOSHT - Yogurt and spices marinated Lamb tossed with onions Once again, this was the "Standard Indian Restaurant A" version of The dish. You know, brown sauce with that predictable hearty flavor and a mild kick. No obvious mistakes, nice big hunks of soft lamb to chew on. Not a bad thing, just very safe. ***ASSORTED BREAD - Bread basket of Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, Onion Kulcha Nothing noteworthy here--sufficiently moist (when covered by a plate), just as your average piece of naan or kulcha should taste. Not bad, but certainly not mind-blowing. ***RASMALAI - Rich in its texture and flavor, a famous milk-based dessert of India This was pretty great. They make it from scratch here and dust it with saffron stigmas. Sufficiently creamy, sweet, and well spiced. ALL IN ALL: Our experience reminded me of the Indian restaurants on the East Coast that I was raised on, and also those in Britain, catered carefully toward the taste of the white man. The food was not bad at all, but it was so safe and almost sterile that it removed the essence of India and replaced it with the East India Company. For gringos who want a safe Indian meal, I wholeheartedly recommend this place, but for those of us who seek India through the tastebuds of the Indian, Aasna will not satisfy in the long run.

Yum! We've been looking for a good Indian restaurant closer to home than Naan N Masala. Yelp brought us here for dinner tonight. Here's what we had: Lamb Rogan Josh- good, but not my fave. I thought it was a little too salty, but the SO didn't. Chicken Korma- delish! The chicken was sooooo tender. This was my first time having this dish, so I can't compare it to other places. I would highly recommend it. Butter chicken- My fave. Sometimes this dish can be too oily, but it was perfect here. Definitely get this one. Overall, they were generous with the meat in their curries. The consistency was just right. Service was good until the end of the meal when we wanted the check. Prior to that, our waters were constantly being filled, and after we declined dessert, it seemed like everyone was too busy to let us get the check and leave. They currently have coupons on their site, so check them out. They do have a few restrictions, like dinner, dine-in, and M-F only, but we made it work. :)

I remember giving this place a 4 star two years back but now it sucks big time. Been here for lunch buffet recently and sad to say that not even one item in the buffet it good to put in the mouth. If I had a chance, i would have put some negative scoring to this place. Disappointing.

Been here for lunch buffet and for dinner - they are a good choice for Indian in the McCarthy Ranch area, especially if you work nearby (Cisco/Sandisk/etc.) or are staying in the Ranch 99 plaza area (at the Crowne Plaza/Staybridge Suites/Hampton Inn) Place is clean, food well prepared and staff seem to be adept (which is not always the case at many restaurants) - good seating for groups as well in the side room - have had a few team lunches here. They also advertise halal meats and have a pretty decent selection of vegan options, so that's a plus if you are going with folks who have dietary preferences other than "veg/non-veg". Parking is really challenging during lunch/evenings, but that plaza is insane anyways during that time, so can't really ding them for that. Overall, solid Indian place to have in your back pocket - definitely better than average.

Located in hinterlands of the chinatown in Milpitas, this place can be hard to find but totally worth it. Tandoori roti and daal were quite authentic and bhindi masala wasn't bad either. Loved the ambience too.

Doing my first UYE with my two besties Ari W and Linda P and finding a venue to do it was hands down an easy decision. Basic must have: great food. Awesome service. Aasna had both! The private room was a bonus. In fact it was perfect. Sam and his staff made sure that our big group was catered to. Erlinda, husband and Jay G's group had their first taste of Indian food last night. What a sweet thing. A couple of Yelpers celebrated an important milestone last night. Mark F celebrated his birthday with us. Annie M and hubby celebrated their 1.5 wedding anniversary! Wanugee N the Golden Dragon Fortunes himself graced us with his presence. He also gave a free five minute mini fortune reading to those who wanted. Thanks a lot sexy voice! Last night Adam and I had the chance to try the Lobster Tikka. Oh wow! Full of flavor fat split lobster on top of grilled red and green peppers and zucchini. I will definitely have this again! The staff definitely handled the orders and lastly the bill well with most of us deciding on individual tabs. Great group of Yelpers showed up. Thanks for coming out to enjoy great food with us! Bobby and Jing nice catching up! Adam D thanks for taking our pictures! Alan D and Daniel N always nice hanging with you guys! Lailani thanks for joining Jan P.:) Kenny P see you soon. Janet N and Josie N. Love! Kevin Y nice hanging out! Thanks for making sure we're happy and full Sam and staff. It was a great decision choosing your establishment for the UYE. Thank you Ari and Linda!

First off, I'd like to congratulate Janet O., Linda P., and Ari W. for organizing a great UYE!. This was actually my first UYE! My cousins have very rare opportunities to attend any Yelp related events. Thanks to the lovely ladies mentioned above, they organized an event that my cousins could actually attend at Aasna. My cousins notified me about the event and I gladly submitted m "I'm In" on the event page. I also wanted to try out this new recently opened restaurant. Fast forward to the day of the event, I met my cousins in front of the restaurant and entered in as a trio. As we walked in, we were happily greeted by Janet O. and Linda P. , while Adam D. took photos to document the event. We arrived early and seating was no problem at all. The only thing that was difficult was finding what to order off the the menu. During the UYE, happy hour was effect and a 20% discount was offered for the dinner menu items. Happy hour runs Monday through Friday from 5pm to 6:30pm. As we were looking at our menus, Janet introduced us to the owner of Aasna. After browsing the menu, I went with the following items: - Tandoori Platter (this platter includes Boti Kebab, Seekh Kebab, and Chicken Tikki Kebab) - Mango lassi - Garlic naan bread As soon as my dish was done, it was served on a sizzling platter still piping hot. The steam for the sizzling platter actually fogged up my glasses. The arrangement of a bed of sauteed onions layered with the different kebabs was very appetizing. I know I would've regretted taking that first bite while it was still hot. The mango lassi was very smooth and creamy. The mango taste made it's presence known. When you expect a mango drink, you'll get a mango drink with this. Once the sizzling platter cooled down, I dove right in and started building mini pitas with the kebab meats, sauteed onions, and the garlic naan bread. The pairings were delicious. The naan bread was very soft and tasted of a light garlic. The meats were tender, seasoned, and lightly charred very well. The onions were crispy and sweet even though they've been sauteed. During the event, Yelp scwhag was handed out and Wanugee of Golden Dragon Fortunes was there to give attendees quick fortune readings. Again, I'd like to thank Aasna for the hospitality and great food that was prepared for us. To Janet O. Ari W., and Linda P., no matter what happened that night you ladies are awesome! Great job on organizing your very first UYE! Thank you Adam D. for the photos and Wanugee of Golden Dragon Fortunes for your fortune telling services.

Great venue! Also, they helped host a wonderful UYE event! First off, let me give a big shout out to Janet O., Ari W. and Linda P. for putting together this dope party. For them to organize this big event and get us all together for this awesome dinner is amazing. Thanks a lot guys! The food is just amazing, by the way. I have to really hand it to their butter chicken, which was pretty bomb. And the naan bread that was served with it was one of the best that I've ever had. One thing that I really appreciate about this restaurant is the variety of naan breads that they have! I mean, I think I counted at least 10 different types... so give it all a shot! The butter chicken was well spiced, well seasoned, and extremely tasty. Their lamb was extremely well cooked! It was soft, tender, and had a distinct Indian taste to it while retaining a bit of game taste. One thing to note as well, this is probably the first Indian restaurant where they served iced water, this is neither a criticism or compliment, just something that I've noticed. Anyways, I highly recommend this restaurant! I'm really glad their management allowed yelp to host a UYE here!

If it weren't for the amazing UYE thrown by Linda P, Janet O, and Ari W, how would I have known about this gem hidden in this plaza? Absolutely beautiful interior decor, dim and romantic feeling as well. Decided to try their Chicken Lollipops to start off with. Basa Coconut Curry, Garlic and Butter Naan as well as Mango Lassi to sip on. The Chicken Lollipops were yummy, ground chicken and mixed with spices and cooked onto a cinnamon stick. Rustic and creative, the flavor of cinnamon was infused into the chicken and was pretty good. The Basa Coconut Curry is a bit different than my go-to curries. Tender pieces of white fish in a creamy sweet and savory yellow curry. Tastes amazing with naan and basmati rice! The naan came out piping hot, fluffy and flakey in one bite, amazin' mon- naan. The waiters and the owner, Sam, was just a joy to be around as they kept us all happy and content with our meals. The food is probably one of the best Indian food I have tried, with a big variety on their menus, great service and lovely decor. I should've known this place would be 5 stars as the aroma of their food and their hospitality appeared as I step foot into Aasna's welcoming door. Also, thanks to Wanugee for providing 5 minute Mahjong readings into our bright futures. Very insightful and a must try experience, very pleased to have an attraction such as readings at a UYE. Thank you! Many thanks to Linda, Janet and Ari once again for a successful UYE and to spending time with my favorite SB Yelpers: Adam, Alan, Daniel, Jing, Bobby, Kenny, Vu and Wanugee, as well as meeting new Yelpers for the first time: Jay, Lailani, Jan and Kevin!

We decided to check out this place because we were looking for a place for a lunch party for my kid's birthday. Loved the place which was cozy. The food was good, especially the village chicken curry which was THE tastiest chicken I have ever eaten outside home cooked chicken curries. The Paneer Kadai was good too. I really wish they had the simple dhal aka dhal tadka. All they had was some dhal medley which was good but not accepted as dhal by my little one. He didn't eat much. And yes, the samosas. It was good but not as good as the authentic samosas which has a crispy outerlayer. this one was rather dark and chewy. Unfortunately their party hall was booked on the date we wanted so we never got to try their catering menu.

A great addition to the Asian side of McCarthy Ranch. Tucked in the corner of Barber Ct, Aasna has made its way to become the first authentic Indian restaurant to open in an Asian demographic area (mainly Chinese and Vietnamese). During Friday evening with a growling stomach and no patience to drive in traffic. We settled for something near our area and Aasna happen to be one of the places that caught our attention. As we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted by the charming staff who let us chose our seats. We ordered: A glass of House Cabernet = happy hour, only $2.95 Dog Fish brown ale = dark and good. $3.95 Complimentary Subj Pakoda = crisp fried dumplings of mix vegetables coated in chickpea flour and exotic spices. Chicken Tikka Masala = one of my staple dish. Adding honey to the tomato sauce to gave it a sweet kick. Chicken was tender and moist. Butter Chicken = similar to chicken tikka masala, but more creamy and rich with sprinkle of sliced almonds. Garlic and regular naan = doughy and piping hot! Basmati Rice = on the house. Dessert = once again, on the house. It was Mitha Paan Ice cream. Very interesting texture. Tasted like red bean paste. Thank you Asana for your gratitude! With great ambiance and service, this might be my go to spot when I get the craving. Not to mention, they have lunch buffet seven days a week.

We luuuv Indian food and we could have it everyday, which we did my husband and I when we spent over a month in India. Melange of India is a very pleasant space and great service but the food was just okay for us. Perhaps we were spoiled in Toronto where we had some favourite Indian places. We will keep hunting for a gem in the Bay area. Although it was very decent and a pleasant experience overall, my craving for great Indian food will remain. We had: - saffron rice: very plain and the basmati rice was not a great quality - mutton curry: best of the dishes we tried. Not enough meat and the meat was not infused with the spices. However, spices was the right amount. - stuffed eggplant dish: this one was a bit more adventurous as it didn't seem like a standard dish. Again great flavours but it didn't infuse and there was too little eggplant - Dahl: the dahl I am used too is a bit more soupy and I didn't mind the graininess but it just was not quite as flavourful. - Paratha: paratha is usually more textured and slightly crunchy on the outside. This one was not quite there in execution. -chai masala: standard, good if you like it more plain than spicy Overall, we paid about 50$ for our meal and we were decently satisfied with it. I would recommend it to people who are new to Indian food especially.

Took my grandfather and the rest of my family here for his 77th birthday celebration. The experience (food, atmosphere, and service) was perfect. This is coming from a family of Indians too! They have a buffet and regular menu and I definitely recommend not doing the buffet as their menu selections are bomb. However if you love buffets, their buffet is flawless as well. Short summary: For appetizers their chicken lollipops and tandoori platter are fantastic. Their chicken momo a Nepalese dish and is a great experience to try as you won't find it in many other places. For the main course, their rack of lamb is definitely the highlight but their Rogan Josh, Lamb Vindaloo, and Chicken Tikka are all great as well. Their assortment of naans compliment the meats very well especially the garlic naan. For dessert, do try the mango cheesecake as well. Long summary: First off, the place might be a bit hard to find as it's in the corner of the marketplace with Ranch 99. Once you enter the scenery and decor mixes traditional Indian artwork with modern day ambiance so that it feels traditional but also inventive and modern at the same time. The food is delicious and has many levels of spiciness to cater to your tolerance. The rack of lamb and the chicken lollipops are a must try. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of the curries but I particularly recommend Rogan Josh or Lamb Vindaloo if you're craving lamb, or Chicken Tikka if you are craving chicken. For appetizers, the chicken lollipops are great and are served on actual cinnamon sticks. They have an assortment of delicious naan and I highly recommend both the garlic naan and the rosemary pesto naan. Their naan is perfect, not too burnt/overdone but crispy at the same time. Their lamb racks are a must try as well and were the highlight of our dinner. For dessert, they gave us a free dessert for my grandpa's birthday which was nice of them. I tried their mango cheesecake and it was succulent and perfectly ended an extremely enjoyable meal. Lastly the service was first class. We had a reservation but even still they seated us immediately and without delay as our table was ready for us as soon as we arrived at our time. The staff is very attentive and friendly as well. Towards the end of our meal, the owner of the place even came by and introduced himself. He then stayed for almost 10-15 minutes just to talk to us about his restaurant and our experience and how much we liked it. He was a very nice man and epitomized the quality of the service here. Very rarely do I ever leave such a long review but this place was worth it and will definitely be worth your time.

Pretty good lunch buffet here. A little pricey, though. This is a good place for vegetarians. There are a lot of really tasty vegetarian options. The service is fine. I feel like I should say more, but I really can't think of anything else to say. I enjoy the food just fine, but it just isn't that memorable.

Awesome! Want to go back! Clean space, nice decor, delicious food, good service, clean bathrooms. Went here for mom's bday. 11 of us. We sat past closing time and did not feel rushed. Everything we ordered was superb! Fresh and tasty. Appetizer: Assorted veg platter (Aloo tikki had too much salt) Paneer Tikka Subj Tikka (Can be skipped; had too much onion & zucchini) Dal Frontier Saag Paneer Bhindi

This is my new favorite Indian place in Milpitas. We came here during a special and took advantage of their buffet and mimosas. This place is pretty fancy for a buffet! And staff is well dress and groomed, and as formally polite as they get. It was just a pleasant ambience overall, and we got here when they just opened so it was very quiet and peaceful. That's how I like my buffets! Food was amazing. It was so flavorful and they had so many options. The best part is that we didn't leave smelling like food.

Can somebody please go here and order the lobster masala dish?? I'm too poor to try it but i'm dying to know how good it is lol. I was looking all over for this place and there it was with a dinky little drape covering the old restaurant's name outside. it's not dinky. Quite fancy for dinner actually. And you get served by Santa lol. Idk who that is but that's what my receipt says. Dimly lit, beautiful decor, wine glasses and candles on tables, etc. We were given a complimentary appetizer, some fried pakora-like thing with tamarind sauce, green chutney sauce, and spicy pickles. Not amazing, but wakes up the taste buds with all the sauces. All portions were a bit smaller than others, but were for the most part tastier: Chicken Tikka Masala: sweeter/more tomato-ey than others, but way huger chicken pieces. almost the size of a golf ball. $12.95 Dum Aloo: big potato balls stuffed with spices and awesomeness sitting in a rich sauce. Sauce is perfectly sweet, creamy, a little cheesy like my review, and fabulous. $10.95 Village Chicken Curry: This is the softest chicken I've ever eaten!! Almost melts in your mouth, and the curry is salty with a bit of sweetness to it. Garnished with lots of ginger, really reminds me of a home-made delicious curry my fam makes. $12.95 Naan: One waiter raves and raves about the pesto rosemary naan, so we had to try it. I've also never seen it be offered anywhere else. It was nicely salted and tasted more pesto-y than rosemar...y. lol. It was pretty good on its own, but I love my curries with my naan and this together it took away flavor from the curry. Garlic naan, on the other hand, was perfect. There was some crispy ones and some pillow-y ones. I liked it. Mango Cheese Cake: Another thing a waiter raved about. Worth the rave though--what a treat! It reminds me of mango lassi but in a thicker cheesecake form. It's topped with a mango glaze, but the actual cheesecake has mango flavor to it too. I didn't like how hard the crust was though, it made us seem monstrous like we were devouring it. Baklava A La Mode: WE LOVE BAKLAVA. I may just be a fatty, but this was definitely a serving for one. Baklava was about 3 inches tall and a square smaller than my palm served on top of vanilla ice cream. Though it was decorated gorgeously, it was hard to cut it without smooshing the ice cream out of the cup. Forget looking sweet and tidy on a first date, this is worth just picking up with your fingers and eating and looking like a fatass. Service really goes above and beyond here and there's SO many unique items (as well as traditional items) that they have to offer. I can't believe i wrote such a long review...at least i'm not taking selfies at the gym. I would love to come back and try the lobster, crab cake appetizer, and other curry dishes. Keep those promotions going so my poor self can keep coming!!!!

After having a horrible first experience at Aasna, swearing it off, and writing a not so happy review about it, the owner, Sam reached out to me in hopes to fix what went wrong. In short, the first time around, the sujb tikka which is supposed to be be grilled (according to the menu) veggies was DRIPPING in oil-there was a big ol' "puddle" on the sizzler in which I could dip my fork; the butter chicken was not a tomato cream based curry that is normally used in butter chicken, but rather a brown color which is often seen in chicken curry, and the veggie platter (appetizer) had bite size pieces! Because Sam reached out to me, I decided to give Aasna another shot. I ordered the same items to go (on the house), as well as 2 garlic naan and saag paneer which I expected to pay for, but Sam gave those to me on the house as well. Thanks again for that Sam! This time around, the food was much different! Veggie platter: Still the same items, but the pakora was much bigger than I had the first time around...I had to break it into 3 pieces to eat -Subj Tikka: hardly had any oil in it! Big difference from the first time around and a nice side dish to eat with all the other Indian food which is full of butter/oil and heavy whipping cream -Butter chicken: I asked for white meat (Sam says if you want white meat, you simply have to ask when placing your order) and the curry was more of a tomato cream based curry that is normally used-this was really good! -Saag Paneer: this was something I tried this time around and not the first and it was good. My dad liked it a lot. -Mango Cheesecake: Not overly sweet which is a nice change because Indian desserts can be full of sugar! -Naan: again, I like my naan to be fluffy. My mom described the naan as being "flat." As I had mentioned to Sam once I gave him my review, a lot of Indian restaurants don't necessarily care about feedback from others. They'll act like they are listening or care, but most don't So I appreciate the effort Sam took to reach out to me and invite me back. That shows me that Aasna values their customers feedback and reviews. I hope Aasna keeps up with the changes I experienced the 2nd time around. I will definitely be back!

The name of this place makes me lol - "aasna" typically means beloved, and "melange" means a medley or mixture. I don't really know how this place is a medley of Indian food, as it's primarily North Indian, but hey, I'm not complaining - the food is pretty good. Butter chicken - meat is tender, but the sauce kind of tastes like a tomato bisque. I have a feeling they might have mixed canned soup with some additional spices and thickened it a little. It still tasted good, but I expected better. Saag paneer - Tasty! The palak was nice and thick, and the paneer cubes were soft. Dum aloo - The gravy was kind of sweet, but the aloo was cooked and stuffed nicely. Kulcha naan - nice and thick, served hot and fresh. Not the best naan I've ever had, but if more naan was like this, the world would be a better, more harmonious place. Ambience is classy and it's a really spacious place. I'd definitely be back to try more dishes.

There was not a lot of variety in flavour that you would expect in a lunch buffet. Most of the veg curries had a bit of a tang than one would like, I'm assuming that's the tomato puree used in excess. The fried chicken tandoori was tender and flavourful and so was the chicken biriyani with the perfect combination of spices. The pani puri got me all excited but I was disappointed with the taste of the pani which felt more like tamarind soup. Thumbs up to the paneer curry there which looked like the only dish in the vegetarian menu that needed refilling.

I had the samosa chaat and malai kofta. The samosa was covered in sickly sweet curd and had, as far as I could tell, not been freshly fried but warmed up. If it did get fried they did a very poor job. The samosa itself: mediocre at best. The kofta tasted faintly burnt and were dry, and rather tasteless at that. The gravy was pleasant enough but nothing to get too excited about. All that accompanied by some kind of generic percussion based Disneyland music. Total waste of time.

Good food and service. Ordered paneer tikka sizzler for appetizer which was really good. Ambience was pleasing with soothing music. The butter chicken was a suggested favorite and I agree.

I came here for the $12.95 lunch buffet because I heard great things about it. It's hard to eat much because I was foolish enough to start with a bowl of butter chicken. That instantly just became my $12.95. Aim for the soft, hot chunks of lamb meat in the lamb biryani dish. Everything else around it is irrelevant. The tandoori chicken does not come in solid chunks of meat. There was a lot of bone, and that didn't make eating very graceful especially in this fine dine setting. There are plenty more vegetarian dishes, but after trying out two selections, there wasn't much reason to try the other several items. Everything is incredibly rich, heavy, and tasty. The one mixed vegetable dish that isn't was tasteless. The service was attentive, but too attentive. They kept checking in on us every thirty seconds and we felt like we were being watched the entire time as we ate. That made the meal uncomfortable.

The food here was good overall but the grilled chicken was amazing. We were surprised to find an Indian place in this Chinese food dominated plaza but yay to variety. The service was attentive and friendly. Decor was quite nice but it seemed a bit dark in there the night we went.

I was going to go back to Mayflower Seafood for dinner, but decided to just drive around the "mall" area. When I saw the Aasna sign for Indian food, my 1st thought was, "why didn't I know about this place?" Well, it's tucked away in the far left-had corner of the mall (and I had never looked there). The restaurant looks somewhat plain from the outside, but it is a semi-formal interior with cloth tablecloths and upscale ambiance. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. Before I was even approached for my drink order, I was presented with Poppadums, vegetable pickle, mint and tamarind chutney. While I was waiting for my main course, I observed staff polishing the glassware and silverware. Excellent attention to detail! I decided on the Spicy Fish Tikka. Great choice! The fish received a delicious and spicy dry rub before going into the Tandoor oven. It arrived on a sizzling plate garnished with roasted peppers and onions. It was a _huge_ portion and I loved every bite. Although this is a dry dish, the chef sent out some curry sauce. The spice rub is so good though, I prefer the fish without the sauce. Although cooked in a blazing Tandoor oven, the fish was moist and tender. I will be back every time I am in the area!

My review this time is for the Offers advertised on Yelp Free Bottle of wine on a Yelp check in : Fine print mentions that you will need to spend 74$. My final bill was 91$ . When asked if we could take the bottle home with us ; the manager brusquely told me I can only let u drink the wine in the restaurant. All I am saying is that if a party has spent more than the amount mentioned on the offer WHY DO YOU CARE if I choose to drink the wine at home OR in the restaurant and if you really do PLEASE mention it accordingly so that I don't even bother to check with you. All other DIne-In offers: Kudos to the genius who has come up with these gem of an offer. The fineprint for you - Offers have to be printed ( WHY .. Shouldn't you encourage everyone to go GREEN and be content if they show you the offer on a SMARTPHONE ? ) - You will be charged 18% gratuity on all your dine-in offers . I personally think Gratuity is earned not demanded. If you give me GOOD service ; I will be more than happy to give you 18% gratuity. You cannot force anyone to give you gratuity via a DIne-in Online offer. To think of it all this trouble of printing gives you a 2 % discount when there are restaurants that will give you a 5% cash discount to avoid a Merchant Transaction fee :) ..( while i never support this.. It still beats the ridiculous offers you have on your website) The only bright spot is the food. but with my last experience I am really thinking why should I even bother giving them business in the future.

The original plan was to go to Pepper Lunch for dinner but the restaurant isn't open until 5:30PM so my bf and I drove around McCarthy Ranch to see if there was anything else we wanted to eat. While sitting in the car and yelping a few places, my bf pointed out Melange and suggested that we should give it a try. I was a little torn since I am always up to try new places, however, I really wanted the sizzling ribeye with butter garlic from PL (mouth is salivating thinking about it). But being a foodie, I had to give this place a try. When we walked in there were no other customers in the restaurant, granted it was only 5:20PM on a Thursday. We were seated right away and the waiter bought us some water and a free appetizer. I forgot to asked the waiter what it was called but it was thin little crispy airy chips looking like things. It came with three different dipping sauces and all three were good. Now about the food... Mango Lassi: Thick and creamy but lack the strong mango flavor Melon Berry Punch: Ohhhh! So refreshing! It taste like a watermelon jolly rancher. YUM! Subj Pakaoda: Nice seasoning and crispy, however, it was too much of a filler. I wished I picked my third choice which was the chicken momo. Bharawan Baigan: This dish came with three pieces of baby eggplant. The sauce it was cooked in was good but I didn't like how big the pieces were. Butter Chicken: Tender chicken thighs in a tomato bisque like sauce. This is not how butter chicken should taste like, good, but not the real deal. Coconut Fish Curry: The first bite was fishy but the sauce deinetly help with the taste. I would skip this dish, Rosemary Pesto Naan: I love the idea and definitely glad we tried it but I felt like because of the pesto flavor, it infer my taste buds to taste all the other dishes spices. I would get the garlic naan instead. Saffron Rice: Nothing really special about the rice. Overall, this place was a 2 star in the food department but because of the AWESOME service, I had bumped it up one more star. This is probably the only restaurant in McCarthy Ranch were you would get this kind of customer service. The food was a let down since some of the flavors did not taste authentic enough for me. Also, after dinner, when we got home, both the bf and I went straight to the bathroom.

I got a Groupon for this place (pretty much $5 off). Started off with complimentary cracker flatbread appetizer with 3 dipping sauces. Yum! We ordered: *Parmesan, pesto and rosemary naan - SO good! the naan was fluffy but not thick, and the pesto, rosemary, parmesan was a nice combo, what you would expect from the name. It's like Indian pizza. *Garlic naan - basic fare, fluffy in places, crispy in others, and not too garlicy. *Butter chicken - flavorful with nice pieces of chicken pulled off the bone, not in cubes. The sauce was nice with the parm naan. *Rogan Josh - Delicious, big tender lamb chunks, sauce was good with the garlic naan. Service was great! Very friendly and attentive. I'd like to go back for the lunch buffet to try more dishes without investing a whole bowl!

***************************** 1,090 ******************************* We were here when it first opened, got to try a few dishes, there's hit or miss, but the flavor is all there. Love their online order, as well as you can print out coupon online, and their website is very user friendly, and their gallery is mouth watering. Aasna, Melange of India is a spacious place, fancy looking, and very inviting vibe. It's a good place to host a big group because they have a private room can fit up to 50 people. - Khatta Meetha Papri Chat - Deep fried crunchy chips with bhallas, potato, yogurt and tamarind. This was good. - Assorted Veg. Platter - Mixed platter of Samosa, Pakoda, Aloo Tikki, and Papadum, I wasn't a fan. - Saffron Rice - Saffron flavored long grain basmati rice, this was nice. - Tandoori Fish - Whole fish marinated over night on spicy sauce, baked in tandoorr - this was good, tasty, but little salty for my taste. - Rack of Lamb - Lamb chop marinated with yogurt, ginger, garlic and Indian spices - this was my favorite dishes of all. MUST ORDER. - Bharta Baigan Ka - Tandoor roasted eggplant cooked with fresh tomato, onion and spices, this was full of flavor and quite tasty, again, a bit on the saltier side. Service was good, but some of the younger servers here have very strong accent, it was a bit difficult to hear what they got to say. FYI: Yelpers that write free Champagne at weekend brunch is a FALSE advertisement for them. They serve Wycliff Sparkling by Gallo Winery in Modesto, CA, not from Champagne, it's abour $4 a bottle. I asked the server and he pulled the bottle out to show me. Foodies are much more educated now, and false advertisement is just bad.

Came here again because their curries are simply amazing. I reluctantly tried their chicken curry again and it appears they have improved! The chicken was more tender this time but could still use more work. It is too bad they didn't have the yellow peas and potato thing I liked. Instead I found the paneer cheese curry and the fish curry to be over the top good. The fish was so tender and full of flavor at the same time. It ranks very high as one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. As first, I thought the paneer was a tofu but later was told was actually a cheese. When tasting for it, you can tell a good cheesy aroma as you are chewing, simply delicious! Note, the lunch buffet apparently comes with a drink so don't hesitate to order that yogurt drink. It can help a lot in putting out the spicy fire in your mouth as you eat. I cannot wait until I come back again.

Went here with dinner. Tried vegetarian items mainly. Below average quality on all the curry items. Mughalai Biryani was ok. Dessert (mango kulfi and gulab jamun) was bad. Samosa chat was one saving grace. It was a bit on the expensive side too.

Had a great dinner here with the family. We tried samosas, lamb kabobs, goat curry, saag paneer, butter chicken, and Rosemary pesto naan. Everything was delicious! Service was prompt and staff were very attentive. Atmosphere was very cozy. Will definitely come back.

My wife and I tried out their Sunday lunch buffet. We were quite disappointed. For $16+ per person, we got generic, tasteless Indian food. We were offered free "champagne" with our buffet, which we politely turned down (who drinks champagne with an Indian lunch buffet!). The interiors were horrifyingly gaudy (even judging by the low standards of Indian restaurant interior decoration). And the music was likely picked by a teenager whose tastes are of the garish bollywood dance variety. In summary, don't bother with this restaurant - not when the south bay has so many excellent Indian eateries. Alternative places on my "Best of South Bay" list: North Indian food (and lunch buffets): Amber Mountain View yelp.com/biz/amber-india… Simpler, home-style cooking from western India: Deedee's Santa Clara yelp.com/biz/deedees-san… Regional cuisine from Kerala (south western India): Red Chillies, Milpitas yelp.com/biz/red-chillie… South Indian fast food (Dosa/Idly/etc): Tirupathi Bhimas, Milpitas yelp.com/biz/tirupathi-b…

SO GOOD! One of my girlfriends and I visited this place for dinner and everything we ordered was so good - so good we came three times in one week. A little embarrassing since the same guys were working each night and kept recognizing us (who are very nice and helpful when ordering). The Butter Chicken and Rosemary Pesto Naan were my favorites. They also give you some crunchy cracker like things with a few different spreads in the beginning which was also really good. Had I not moved, I'd probably come by one or twice every two weeks. Not everyday because I get sick of things quickly.

Delicious vegetarian appetizers. We had lassi and naan and a couple of entrees. All delicious. Great service even late in the evening. Lovely peaceful decor. Wish we had been here for the buffet! I bet it is great.

What I ordered: + Chicken Lollipops (D-) + Crab cakes (B-) + Saffron Rice (B-) + Garlic Naan (B) + Butter Chicken (A) Chicken lollipops on a cinnamon stick - my taste buds were offended. The savory and sweet really battled it out in my mouth and in the end we were all losers. The saving grace of the meal was the butter chicken. Tender and brimming with rich creamy curry flavor and just a hint of spiciness. Though the meal wasn't a deal breaker my experience with the wait staff left much to be desired. When I tried ordering plain naan or rice the waiter kept telling me to order something else (and usually that item was more expensive). I told him I appreciated the suggestion but I was fine with plain naan and white rice. Well the more expensive options arrived at my table and bill anyways. The worst part is I couldn't even taste the difference and only knew about the substitution when the check came. I have a feeling this is more of a cultural difference than rudeness. His intentions were good but it rubbed me the wrong way. At the end of the meal I had some left over naan along with another dish I wanted wrapped up to go, the waiter picked up the naan with his bare hands and brought it to the back. Again, maybe a cultural difference but my inner germaphobe still preferred he didn't do that. I don't know what else happened from when my left overs went from the table to the back to be wrapped up. I just threw it away - better safe than sorry. This restaurant is still relatively new so fingers crossed they work out the kinks. The guy looked new, like new to the world of customer service. I am not opposed to giving Aasna another go as long as the waiter looks a little more seasoned.

Disappointed. I read all the good reviews and decided to give this place a try. I went during the lunch buffet time and restaurant was empty. The server was not at all courteous and told us to pick any table and then vanished. All the items looked beautiful but tasted equally bad. There is something about this place that spices were totally off in all the items no matter whether it is soup, aloo tikki, jaljira or curries. I tried many things and only thing came out right was fruit salad. On service, we had to ask for naan and they came late once requested. They would not come and check if we wanted anything else. We had to look for waiter to order drinks after we started the meal. They are missing on those opportunities. I am not being cynical but food here is not at all good. I also got evidence that this place reuses the food. In Paneer kadhai, I could see fresh paneer as well as old paneer pieces. I would not recommend this place to any one and definitely it was my first and last visit.

Horrible service, they were practically kicking us out at 10:30 after telling us the restaurant closed at 11:30. Yelp check in free wine: when we asked the manager after our bill came in and after spending $111.00 they said the offer was only available for dine in. Which makes no sense since u can't look get the wine till after you're bill has been paid. Pls get some waiters that can speak English.

Spectacular UYE hosted by Janet O, Linda P, and Ari W! Before I get into the food, I want to make sure you keep in mind that Aasna is located on the left side of Ranch 99 and not the right, because it can be a little hard to spot. Aside from that, Aasna isn't your average Indian restaurant; at least not one that I''ve been to. It's elegant and intimate, especially with their dimly lit lights. (Perfect for those special occasions and "spicy" night out!) As for their food, I recommend their Goat Biryani; aromatic rice topped with Indian spices and tender goat, a definite must if you want to have that flavorful experience! My table also ordered Crab Cakes and the Tandoori Platter. The Tandoori Platter was a great starter, and the Crab Cakes, although a little expensive, well worth it. (Love their sweet and sour mango sauce!) Service was friendly, productive, and very attentive; given our large group. Other than that, special thanks to Aasna and the three lovely ladies (Janet O, Linda P, and Ari W) for putting this well-organized event together! :)

This place is overrated! "Fresh" naan was hard..yes, I said hard. Goat meat in the biriyani was dried. Chicken tandori was cold and dried. Definitely will not return to this establishment.

I got to attend the lovely UYE put on by Janet O., Linda P. & Ari W. On my 1.5 year wedding anniversary! What better way to celebrate than with your hubs, friends & Yelpers?! Wanugee was even there doing his fortune telling for all of us :) The Yelpers had their own special area for the UYE. Service was friendly, but slow. I think it was probably due to the restaurant not planning on more staff for the event. It took a while to get our order taken as well as get the check. I won't hold that against them though. The food overall was okay. I was hoping for a little more something special based on the other reviews. Guess that's what I get for being spoiled by my Indian friends taking me to yummier Indian food places. The food was a bit pricey as well since you can find better Indian food for cheaper. I will say the highlight of my meal was the rose petal ice cream! It wasn't creamy like regular ice cream, but slightly more icy. If you know your Asian fruits, the flavor reminded me of lychee! Atmosphere was nice with nice lighting & comfortable seating. Parking can be a hassle as it is in an Asian plaza... Overall, the experience of hanging out & celebrating was fun! Thanks ladies for setting this UYE up!

The food and service at Aasna is phenomenal! First time here was with Vu L, Janet O, and Adam D and we came during dinner time. We quickly fell in love with the food, decor, and ambiance. More upscale than the average Indian restaurant in the area. They definitely exceeded my expectations as they have a very large selection of naans, appetizers, curries (veggie, fish, chicken, lamb) and drinks! For our meal, we ordered Chicken Lollipops, Crab Cakes, Rack of Lamb, Chicken Tikka Masala, Dum Ki Chicken Biryani, Mixed Grill, Strawberry Lassi, and Rose Petal Ice Cream. I would love to describe each dish, but everything was really quite good and cooked to perfection. The meat was surprisingly tender and flavorful. Came back a week later with a different group of friends to try their lunch buffet. I really loved their Butter Chicken, Chicken Biryani, Mixed Veggies, and Naan... and once again the food was outstanding. Complimentary champagne during lunch was a big bonus (weekends only)! I had pretty much a sample of everything at the buffet and really enjoyed all of them! Lots of variety! So when it came time for Janet O, Ari W and I to choose a venue for our first UYE, we knew immediately Aasna would be the right choice. The owner was kind enough to meet us weeks beforehand to help us plan our fabulous UYE. He even offered us the private room and our own entrance. A good amount of people showed up for the event and to my surprise the waitstaff was able to handle a large group like us. They were polite, attentive, and quick. Seriously, from the second we walked in to the moment we left, the staff was exceptional. Good job Aasna! A big special thanks to all the great people who came out to my first UYE with Janet and Ari. I'm fairly new to Yelp...so it was nice to meet everyone and meeting new people (Jan P, Lailani B, Kenny P, Josie N, Erlinda R, Heather K, Jay G, Jin F, Bobby L, Mark F, Kenny P, Allen C, Rach L. Jay C, & Mike C). Love seeing some familiar faces (Adam D, John H, Daniel N, Alan D, Kevin Y, & Janet N) as well. Also thanks to Wanugee from Golden Dragon Fortunes for the short reading with your Mahjong pieces. It was definitely a memorable experience. All in all a lovely evening, surrounded by great company and good food! Ok people, if you haven't tried Aasna yet, make sure you do. This is easily the best Indian restaurant in the South Bay!

Me and Lailani B. decided to attend to this UYE hosted by these lovely ladies, Janet O., Ari W., & Linda P. I want to greatly express my thanks to you all!! You guys have done a great job hosting this great night. If it wasn't for Janet O. inviting me, we wouldn't be here. :) Anyways, upon entering, I think it was a private room of the restaurant, which was pretty nice... Very majestic and romantic. I was first greeted by Janet O. and met many Yelpers that participated! I got seated and the waiters were patient and polite with our orders even though the menus were a bit overwhelming because there are so many food on the list! Pretty intensive menus. I believe happy hour was still in effect, Mon-Fri from 5-6:30PM. Take advantage to sip up a good deal! I'm a simple guy that orders simple food: started off with Pokora appetizer... which is pretty scrumptious and delicious. Try it! Our dinner meal was the butter chicken with butter naan... With brown basmati rice. They were all great and flavorful. I love the butter chicken with butter naan. They both go very well together... So fresh and savory. I saw Janet O and Adam eating some epic lobster Tikka accompanied with red and green bell peppers under a sizzling pan... I still have to try that next time! Although I didn't eat much here even though I wanted to try more food on the menu. I will need more visits to try out more of their awesome food. It's a rare opportunity to dine in something like this! Thank you Aasna for your great service and food, plus the 20% off of our bill for the event. I appreciate for everything you do for us!

Came here today for a work lunch. Aasna is tucked away in a corner of the Milpitas Square plaza...who'd have thunk you'd find an Indian place in the middle of all this Southeast Asian stuff? They set out the buffet line for lunch. There were most of your expected staple Indian dishes for the uninitiated. One type of lamb biriyani, some plain white rice, and a handful of vegetarian and meat-atarian dishes, some fruit and Indian pickles, and one dessert. Naan is brought to your table and it appears they'll bring as much as you want. The food was generally good although apparently not entirely authentic, according to my Indian coworkers. But they said it was fine, and the rest of us non-Indians found it to be quite satisfying anyhow. I will say the naan was very interesting as it had fennel seeds in it. I don't think I've ever had naan with fennel seeds but I have to say, I wish it all had fennel seed now! Really tasty! Service was friendly and attentive. Used plates were taken away fairly quickly, and waters were kept filled by waiters even when they had already placed some carafes on our table. Overall, tasty food and solid service. I would be happy to return to Aasna for Indian any time!

This is an upscale priced restaurant. I went here only once. Ordered a tomato soup and it was good. Dum aloo is kind of too sweet in the entreè although they said its a spicy dish. I had ordered a onion kulcha and they didnt know what kind of onions to use. They used sweet flavored white onions that made kulcha taste bad. Overall its mediocre food. But the service is great. Give it a shot. Dont settle for it!!

My hubby, cousin, and I attended our first UYE here last night. It was nice to get out to enjoy great food with great company. We even got a free five minute mini fortune from Wanugee N (Thank You!). Also, thank you Aasna for having us and to Janet O, Ari W and Linda P for organizing such a great event!! If it wasn't for the UYE, I don't think I would have tried this place out. I mean, I've always wanted to try Indian food, but just never had the chance to. I'm really glad we came out because the food was really good! We ordered the Tandoori platter, Non Veg Thali, and Garlic naan. The garlic naan was really good, 5 stars for that alone. The meats were tender and flavorful, chicken was juicy, and the curry and spices complemented everything well. For dessert, our meal came with Gulab Jamun, a spongy milky ball soaked in syrup. Yummy! The ambiance was nice with a little romantic feel to it. The owner and waitstaff was very hospitable to our big group (thank you for giving the event 20% off the bill). All in all, I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu.

I finally got a chance to stop in and try Asana. It was just OK for me for the price. If it was priced somewhere around 10 bucks, I think it would be more fitting to go back to. You can get the selection/quality at other buffets around for $8-10. The food was decent. It had spice/heat, which I really like in Indian food. Not sure if I will be rushing back for $14 again on a regular buffet day, but I would be willing to try the Sunday champagne buffet in the future.

This is an update to my previous review. I am a regular here. My experience recently was not as great as it usually is. I ordered Mutton Biriyani , it tasted great but they really did skimp on the meat. I really had to hunt around for the 3-4 small pieces of goat and that too it was dry and chewy. Not really worth the $16.95. I have found a much better biriyani place which serves soft succulent meat . Not ordering here again. Tried their tandoori during lunch buffet one day. Very dry and stale meat. Earlier I have ordered this for dinner and it was fresh and soft. Lunch buffet unfortunately was a disappointment. Hope they maintain consistency in their dishes in future.

They have a checkin offer that says a bottle of house wine if you spend $75. My girls and me were here for a Vday lunch and we were quite certain that our bill would be over $75 but anticipating that amount is being uncertain and so the offer itself is not really useful. We order a bottle of Pinot and some champagne, but what we were tired of was the waiting for the dishes to come out. Our meal literally lasted 3 hours and several people who were there to celebrate the night with a good meal began to fight and complain to the manager that they would leave if the food didnt come out on time. When the food did come out, it was super delish and almost made to perfection but if the wait is going to be as crazy as that night, I would suggest you get dinner elsewhere. Lots of good indian meal options around..

The Indian food is very delicious! I took my mom here for her birthday lunch to try the buffet. My mom enjoys Indian food, but this was the first time she had been to an Indian restaurant. I am happy that we came early on a Saturday because the service was very attentive. We both ate the lunch buffet and both of us did not know what we were doing. When we first entered, we were greeted by out waiter. He could sense that we were new to this and explained to us what they served and asked if we were interested in the buffet. Tentatively, we approached the food and served ourselves. The waiters we very patient and answered our questions. They even showed me how to combine certain foods together. There were many vegetarian dishes, a couple rice dishes, four chicken/fish dishes, and a fruit/salad/sauce bar. There were also two dessert dishes. Our favorites were the chicken tikka masala and the seasonal vegetables. The tandoori chicken is also pretty tender and flavorful. We tasted the desserts but we were so full that there was barely any room to truly enjoy them. We really appreciated the help that our server gave us and the tips to eating the food. The food is delicious and we kept talking about how much we loved the chicken tikka. It was pretty intimidating at first, but they made the process of trying new foods easy. While the price is a bit high, I would love to eat here again. They have a to go menu, so maybe I will have to stop by after work one day to pick up some dinner!

Amazing food! Went for the buffet on Saturday afternoon with a friend. The quality of the food was good, fresh, and flavorful. They had plenty of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians and my friend said they had the best butter chicken he has ever tasted at any buffet. Definitely coming back.

Came here with a group one night to try out the new Indian restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised by the romantic candle-lit, fine dining atmosphere. After we finished admiring the tasteful artwork and sculptures and getting recommendations from the staff, we ordered a variety of dishes, some of which were: Chicken Lollipops - Nice presentation. It is not a chicken drumstick type of lollipop, but a ball of ground chicken wrapped around the end of a cinnamon stick. Food on a stick is loved by all, but there is definitely some creativity here to use the stick itself as a way to add another layer of flavor to the meat while making it look great and easy to eat. Nicely light crust, most interior, and bursting with flavor and a little heat. Crab Cakes - Another refreshing take on a classic. This crab cake blends the crab meat with some salmon. All of it is moist, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The mango sauce was a sweet, delicious pairing with the seafood. Rack of Lamb - This was the most talked. It is served to the table on a sizzling cast iron plate. The plate has onions and zucchini cooking underneath the lamb chops. They were petite lamb chops cut into double chops. We ordered them medium-rare and they came out as ordered on the rare side of med-rare, which was just fine with me. The lamb had an amazing tandoori crust on it, with the meat itself very buttery, tender, and moist. It was so tender we easily cut through it with butter knives. It was an instant winner in terms of flavor, texture, presentation and quality of the meat. Saag Paneer - One of my frequently ordered dishes at Indian restaurants is the saag paneer. I always like the contrast that a mild creamy dish of spinach and cheese brings to the table full of meaty, spicy red and brown curries. The spinach here was really rich and flavorful, and a little thicker in consistency. There was a good amount of cubed cheese where I didn't have to go fishing for them, but didn't dominate the spinach, either. The garnish on top was tomato and I think ginger, which was a nice touch, but I do wish it was cut a little thinner so I wasn't getting the shock of biting into a large piece of ginger. Chicken Tikka Masala - This was very good. The chicken was cooked well and was very tender. The sauce was rich and creamy and delicious. This is one of the most commonly ordered Indian dishes, yet at some places you get good chicken, but a flat or oily sauce, sometimes a great sauce, but dry or overcooked chicken. This places did both parts really well and exceeded my expectations. Dum Ki Chicken Biryani - Rice was cooked perfectly and the pieces of chicken in it were tender and delicious. Mixed Grill - This thing is a meat lover's paradise. A pile of tandoori chicken, and various kebab meats. We were all so stuffed at this point we could only pick at some of it. It was also very good, but I will note that one of the kebab meats made with ground meat was a bit salty for my taste. Strawberry Lassi - Delicious. If you like strawberry you will love this alternative to the mango lassi, which I tried later and was also excellent. The smoothness and balance of the fruit, sweetness, and yogurt is spot on. Baklava a la mode - I am a fan of baklava and this was pretty good and the scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side just made it perfect. Rose Petal Ice Cream - This ice cream was absolutely delicious. It was everything you expect from an ice cream in terms of cream, sweetness, and texture. The cold and the cream was already a great way to help cool off the palate and finish the meal, but the rose petals really made a memorable impact, delivering its floral aroma in each bite. The owner, manager, and wait staff were very friendly, attentive, and offered many recommendations during our dinner. Their focus on customer satisfaction is written like a mission statement on the menu, actually encouraging customers to customize and change the food, including spice levels, so that the chef can make you the food you love to eat. Portions were good and pricing was reasonable. Some things edge toward pricey but the quality is there to back it up the so there wasn't anything that really felt overpriced. Overall, this restaurant is an outstanding choice for Indian cuisine because of its unique and traditional menu items, great atmosphere, and its emphasis on quality in so many categories. The Lunch Buffet: Went with coworkers to try the lunch buffet. Lunch setting still has a nice bistro feel, serving water in wine glasses, providing linen napkins, etc., but still kind of casual and comfortable since you are welcome to go to the buffet and serve yourself whenever you please. The buffet offerings were good and delicious, with my favorites being the Aloo Tikki, Butter Chicken, and Tandoori Chicken. We enjoyed everything and will definitely be back again for lunch.

Thanx to Janet for organizing the UYE that brought me to this place! It was a good way to try a lot of things off the menu so even though it's my first time here, I feel I can give an informed review. The Service; We had a large group of people (40+?) with at least half of them asking for separate checks (myself included) and they all came out correct! I had one little mix up as they brought me the mixed grill instead of the seafood mixed grill that I ordered but it looked and smelled great so I kept it. I got a free beer out of the deal so I was happy. They offered to replace it but I don't like to waste food and it was quite good. I was impressed at how well they were able to handle our large group. The Food; I tried a bunch of dishes as the yelpers at my table were all sharing bites so Ill try to describe a few for you... I am a self proclaimed bread whore! so I LOVED the Naan, I tried 2 types. The Garlic Naan was loaded with garlic and herbs and was very tasty, great for dipping. The Rosemary Pesto Naan was awesome, it ate more like a pizza, besides the rosemary and pesto, it was topped with a generous amount of shaved cheese which I suspect was pecorino romano. Ari had some Butter Chicken so I took a couple spoon fulls of the yummy sauce to dip my garlic naan in, thats the way to do it! I also had the chicken lollipops starter which was ground spiced chicken that was formed into a drum stick looking shape over a cinnamon stick and then baked in the Tandoor. This was a pretty tasty starter, the chicken was seasoned well and there was a hint of sweetness to the dish. For my entree I got the Tandoori Mixed Grill, it was a mix of different meats which I could not pronounce or remember the names of but basically it was a bunch of lamp and chicken cooked in the Tandoor and then served sliced and sizzling on a bed of onions fajita style. I found the chicken breast to be very dry (my dog loved it) but I loved the ground lamb. All the meats were marinated in yogurt and spices before being cooked so they had great flavor. I will say this dish should be split with at least 2 people as its huge and I took more than half home even after sharing. I don't eat Indian food that often so I'ts hard to say I would come back but I would recommend this restaurant.
