The slices of pizza beckoned my boyfriend over, and so we tried a slice. The sausage was ok. It's kind of like cooked frozen pizza-ish, which I like from time to time. It's good, but not necessarily memorable and it did the job. The prices were reasonable and the service was pretty quick.

Found a rat in this place so disgusting and the customer service is terrible i wouldn't pay anyone to come here!! I beg you do not go

Overpriced pizza that tastes like a greasy blob of cheap cheese and stale crust. Insects were flying around in the restaurant. Convenient location but the subpar food makes this place not worth frequenting.

They are full of shit I ordered a slice of cheese pizza and ask for garlic to be added on they told me they did not have garlic I went to the restroom after ordering my slice of cheese pizza and when I got back from the restroom to give them their goddamn key back they decided that they had garlic I ran into them giving another customer a couple of clothes of peeled garlic in a Tupperware that was obviously in the refrigerator they were just too lazy to do it for me so then they proceeded to say that we have garlic NOW would you like us to put on the already baked pizza no I would not you guys are assholes. After giving a 4 dollar tip on a 6 dollar bill. 1 star for service and the pizza is soggy.

Meh. I've had better pizza. I only went here because it was the nearest place on Hollywood B that took debit/credit cards. But $3.95 for a slice of ho hum pizza, no thank you.

Very nasty do not recommend. Friendly service horrible food would not come again. Everything taste so fake. Would not go again. The only good thing about the pizza was the pizza crust if I have to give it one compliment.

Affordable. Open late. Asada quesadilla. Wait... At least I think I got a quesadilla at the pizza place... Maybe I was too drunk. Well, 4 stars because I'm pretty sure this was the spot.

I ordered penne pesto, and the pasta was extremely overcooked, and the pesto wasn't exactly pesto as it had some sort of cream. I couldn't finish it...not good at all. My mom ordered hash browns which I tried and they weren't crispy and not very tasty. She ordered a ham and cheese omelette but got a veggie one. My dad ordered coffee, and it was so watery that it tasted like tea. His French fries, however, were nice. The service is also lacking a lot... not a friendly or helpful staff.

Seriously love this place! I come here often for the gyros. They have the best gyros sandwich I've found I'm LA!

Ordered Philly cheesesteak with no onions no green peppers to go. They brought it out for here. Not a big deal so I asked for it to go. The guy gave me a super dirty look like I did something wrong. Then it ended up having onions and green peppers on. Frys average. Eat something else.

NY style pizza is only iconic for its lack of flavor, sauce, cheese, and very bland crust. The gyro was a huge disappointment. Not that it wasn't good, no it was lacking gyro meat. felt like 2 slices of gyro meat chopped up. then they had the balls to charge nearly 10 bucks....it's probably cheaper to fly to NY for pizza and Greece for a gyro.

Let me preface this review with it was 2:30am on a Saturday. The time, however, has no impact on the pizza itself. Extra large slices of cheese for $3.95 each. Slices are crisp from reheating in the oven. Cheese has no flavor. Sauce is sweet and ambiguously seasoned but not well. I honestly can't remember if the crust had any flavor. As my slice was to-go, going back for salt wasn't an option. It might have helped or it might have made an already horrible food experience worse. The time did, most likely, affect the fact almost none of the tables had been cleaned off in awhile. Empty drinks, plates, and half eaten food covered a majority of the eating surfaces. The door was open and the guy rapping through an iPad connected to a speaker blared through place at an obnoxious level while other patrons screamed at him from inside. Cashier was unpleasant though not rude. Dirty tables and extremely loud street noise led us to take the pizza out the door and to the car. After a few bites we shamefully had to toss the remainder of the pizza out the window. It was not good. Final summation: if you're drunk and need pizza, it might work. If your taste buds aren't compromised, go somewhere else.

Got a pepperoni pizza here and it was pretty gross.. Probably should've checked the rating before I ordered. If I knew, I definitely would've eaten somewhere else. It really tasted like frozen pizza that you buy from the market....

Worst. Pizza. Ever. Horrific pizza.. Service was fine. Think of the worst pizza you've ever had?.. . This place.

For a hollywood blvd pizza place, I am impressed! Clean inside and out, pizza was yummy, they have Parmesan, chili flakes, garlic powder, and oregano to put on top too, and even a little (and CLEAN!) patio outside which I enjoyed.

I was very drunk leaving a bar with friends, and we came across this pizzeria. I ordered the gyro plate and my gf got the kabob. Extremely satisfied with the food! Much better than the two star rating I saw the morning after, I'm glad I didn't judge

I ate here against my better judgement right before seeing The Book of Mormon at the Pantages across the street. The place is run down & dirty, the food sucks, and the guy working there is one of the rudest people I've met working in the service industry. The Hispanic gentlemen who took my order (I don't know his name, he wasn't wearing a name tag), had an extremely misplaced condescending tone. I asked for a Raspberry Iced Tea Snapple with my order, and he went and checked the refrigerator. He came back to me and mumbled that they were out of Raspberry Iced Tea. He then told me to pick another one. I couldn't see which flavors were in stock because the refrigerator is located behind the front counter away from the cash register that I was ordering from. I walked slightly away from the cash register so I could see inside the refrigerator. They only had one flavor in stock so I told the employee that one would do. He then said, "You can get it yourself." The refrigerator was located IN THE KITCHEN behind the counter (you literally had to open a door, go back into the food prep area to get it). As I hesitated and began to go back there (he was about five feet away from the refrigerator), he began speaking to me in a tone that suggested I was a child and said, "No, come here and pay first. THEN go back there." As he said this he had a shit eating grin on his face and was shaking his head. I resisted every urge in my body to punch the guy in the face and simply paid him then retrieved my own beverage. This guy has no business working in the service industry... When we finally got our food (I think they just put the food in a microwave, I don't know what took so long), it tasted awful. Avoid at all costs. This place is surviving only because it's in such a great location.

Ok, I knew this place wouldn't be good so it wasn't the element of surprise or anger at being blindsided that's prompting a bad review. This is just an accurate portrayal of what this place is and what it isn't. If you're drunk and needing calories, this place is adequate. The slices are large, not mama's and papa's large, but large enough. The prices are ok, but you're still overpaying considering the poor quality. The pizza isn't stale, in fact, we saw them making a fresh pie as we ordered our slices. In true NY fashion, they were warmed in the oven to melt the cheese and crisp up the crust a bit. However, the cheese was of abysmally low quality and the sauce tasted like salt and red. Had I been drunk, I would have appreciated this more, but seeing as I don't drink, I don't see myself returning much. This is drunk food, but certainly not good food.

Meh. This review is for the chicken caesar salad only. The boy (who was stuck at work down the block) and I were craving salad, and we couldn't think of anyone local who served salad, so of course I check this place before checking the Yelp reviews :/. In response to some other reviews its not ca$h only, but there is a .65c card charge. Also, like Joshua said this place was packed - what the hell, are they paying people to sit there and look happy? The staff (2 guys working) were friendly, and they had the Phoenix game on TV (GO 'YOTES!) so plus there. The pizza looked iffy as fudge - and reminded me of the kind of pizza you'd get in elementary school. It was also like $3.50 for a slice of cheese and (a dollar?!) for each additional topping. Stick to Joes down the street! The salad was a good size, but the goodness ends there. It was around $7.65 (which was a dollar more than the regular caesar salad), the "upgrade" to the chicken was NOT worth it. Heck, paying $7 for the damn thing wasn't worth it either. The dressing was so incredibly watered down (and it didn't even come with any extra watered down dressing), the croutons were soggy, and the salad was warm. Yes - warm. Like not warm cause I was walking down the street with it warm - warm because it was on the grill, or something stupid like that, warm. They can't even use the excuse of the chicken making it warm because there wasn't enough chicken for that to even magically happen. Bleh, at least my Orange Bang was good!

This was quite possibly the worst pizza I've ever tasted. The owner even had to squint her eyes at my food after it was taken from the oven. The cheese tasted like what you get in lunchables, but not as good.. To top it off, I reach for the red crushed pepper and two live flies emerge INSIDE of the bottle. Keep some tums and extra toilet paper on deck just in case.....

I'm going to give this place three stars because I certainly enjoyed my experience here but I still will never come back or intentionally seek it out. You know? My mom and I needed to find a place to eat FAST because we were going to watch The Book of Mormon at the pantageous theatre across the street. And we stumbled upon this place. The restroom is Hollywood epitomized. Be careful. As for the foooood, it was pretty good pizza! Huge slices, good chips, and some soda. It was a blessing among the wreck that is Hollywood Blvd, that's for sure. If you find yourself here, might as well sick around. But you shouldn't actively seek it out.

Don't let the pictures fool you! Only reason we stopped here was because we were starving! The pizza is disgusting.. Little ceaser's is better than this joint! The Philly cheese steak was very dry & there was a ton of fat on the meat. They charge you for every little thing (ranch 70cents) & it comes in a tiny cup & refills are half of what you bought the drink for, did I mention the tax? We bought a big pizza because there's five of us but so disgusting we just gave it to a homeless person. Never again! Don't waste your money! 30$ down the drain for something so unfulfilling.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. The guy behind the counter was very rude. And the bathroom had 2 inches deep of toilet water covering the floor.

  • Kathyrn M.

The only reason we went to this place was because everyone was super hungry. We walked in, and some were skeptical because of how dirty it was and because they served Italian food, Mediterranean food, and American fast food (too many options to be good, in my opinion). You'd think that for a dingy place it would be cheap, but it cost $55 dollars for four people. The bathroom was filthy! It doesn't cost a lot to buy a new toilet seat cover, you know! At first, the man seemed nice when taking our order, but after we sat down, another customer complained to us that he wouldn't give her filtered water when she could see there was filtered water in the soda machine. He said she'd have to pay for the bottled water. Then he ran over and started yelling at us about how she doesn't speak English. I just put my hands up and said,"Don't yell at me, leave me out of this." But he just kept yelling. I asked,"Can I get my money back?" because he was rude and was scaring my children. He just replied,"Yeah, tomorrow". I was tempted to leave. The guy did apologize, but he said,"Sorry, the lady got me mad." He should have just said sorry, and not blamed her. We stayed, we ate. The calzone was edible, the gyro was pretty good, but the hamburger was absolutely awful and got half eaten along with the gross Philly cheese steak. Something was wrong with their meat, but the bread products were decent. It's hard to screw up French fries, but theirs were soggy and underdone. Yuck! I hate to give such a poor review, but this place deserved it.

  • Foodie X.

Big Slices of Mediocre Pizza. Way overpriced. It's location alone is how they stay in business. Good spot if you've been out on Hollywood Blvd. drinking, to grab a slice and sober up. I've been a couple of times, both were exactly the same. If you want quick this is the spot, if you want Really good Pizza, go elsewhere.

  • Chanel C.

I don't know how we stumbled in here but their pizza is GOLDD!! THIN, CHEESEY, CRISPYY DELICIOUSNESS. no...i wasn't drunk when I ate it!! The place is kinda run down and the staff is sleezy but I would definitely come back for the pizza...and I will definitely be drunk when I do!

Hungry at 1am in Hollywood, my bud wanted pizza so we randomly walked in here. It was packed with interesting patrons. The interior was pretty bare. I got a slice of pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and canadian bacon and my bud got a slice of their hawaiian pizza. Not cheap at $20 for 2 slices of pizza and 2 small sodas. 5 minutes later, one worker brought out our pizzas to our table. Holy moly, the slices were ridiculously huge! A slice of costco pizza is dwarfed compared to this one. It tasted...pretty bland. It was very hot, but was missing the "it" factor. The sausage was crumbly, the bacon not crispy. There was no harmony among the toppings and crust. I think drunk people would love this but being sober, NEXT!

  • Lavender R.

My man and I went here and it was how do you say !@#$%%^ disgusting.. yeah F****** DISGUSTING. All these people say on here " come here when youre drunk its ok then" well we had a few drinks and STILL that didnt give it any justice of how this AWFUL COLD PIZZA that wasnt even edible made it out of the kitchen, served, and onto our plates. I should have thrown the damn thing away. Shoulda thrown it at the employees face instead since he was so f******* rude. Hey man, if you dont like working at a pizza place dont take it out on your customers. I wouldnt be surprised if this P.O.S place serves something besides just pizza if you know what I mean.,

  • John H.

Just walking down Hollywood Blvd. with my son and we decided to give this place a try. Wish we hadn't. The pizza was put in the oven for about a minute and even though it was hot, the cheese still tasted funny. The slice was large but overall a poor excuse for pizza. Nothing else around it seemed to be open around 9:30 p.m. so I guess if you're really hungry, you have no choice. Oh yeah, $0.65 surcharge to pay with your Debit Card. No real reason to make the effort to eat here other than "I am REALLY hungry and don't want to keep looking."

  • Melissa R.

If you ever find yourself relatively intoxicated, strolling down Hollywood Blvd and/or craving pizza. Don't stop here. Pizza is something that takes a lot to screw up. Bad pizza is still good pizza most times. Especially under the above circumstances. Well, not at Combo. My boyfriend and I decided to share a personal pan pizza here one night and it reminded me of the Celeste brand pizza you find in the freezer section of your nearest grocery store. Not exactly what I want to eat when I'm actually sitting in a pizzeria. Not only was the pizza bad, but the service was absolutely horrible. The man taking our order grunted his way through answering any question we had. I'm sorry, but when you work at a pizzeria you should probably not get so offended when someone asks you about pizza toppings. In his defense, it was late on a Saturday night so maybe after a full days work at Combo Pizza he got asked that question one too many times. I guess its the risk you take when accepting the job offer. On the bright side, they do serve other things besides pizza. I heard the gyro didn't taste so defrosted.

The club sandwich here is a must if you come to this place. Prices are pretty descent and so is the place itself. I would definitely come here if I find myself I'm Hollywood again.

  • Victoria S.

The guy who took my order was extremely friendly. The owner is lucky he has him, because he himself, knows nothing about customer service. Upon entering, I noticed cute little tables outside, which was perfect since I had my dog, I should have turned away when all of the trash was piled outside and I had to move it to the trash myself. On top of that, the pizza was not fresh, and when I brought it back to perhaps exchange, since the jalapeños were yellow, and my crust was too hard to bite, the owner refused my request, and pointed at a sign that said no refunds. That kind of shows how crappy the food is, no business starts off with a sign like that. The owner began to talk about how my friend, another customer was eating it just fine, and I mentioned I had a different slice than him, from an entirely different pie. I wasn't insulting his food, just requesting a fresher slice. He (the owner) continued to yell at me as I exited the establishment, saying I wanted trouble, and that his food was the best and had been around for thirty years. Lack of class, and did not know anything about the customer being always right. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

RUDE SERVICE. Found hair on my pizza, was disgusted told the lady and was rude about it. So not worth it don't come. Stupid place -__-

  • Pierce H.

I don't know what to say... 2 slices for $10.50 and it's completely crap.. Don't EVER go here. It should be 0 stars. Seriously this is disgusting. Plus a charge for debit card.. Is this 1993? Do they pay taxes on cash orders? IRS what up?

    (1)
  • Josh P.

Let's just admit it. You only go here when you're drunk and the pizza is honestly just not that good. I'd rather have frozen grocery store pizza.

    (1)
  • Rob D.

save your time and go get a dog, burrito, or sandwich from places nearby. this will not satisfy the 'slice craving". its a large slice with plasticy cheese that is reminiscent of frozen grocery store pizza. its also got a crunchy texture that is more like flatbread. you cant get your fold on while eating eat. overall no bueno.

I never gave this place a chance for years but I came in here the other night and was pleasantly surprised. We were craving gyros so my friend recommended Combo's and I reluctantly agreed to try it out. Upon entering, the decor and vibe is pretty underwhelming, but he big booths and cheesy television were comfortable and relaxing while we waited for our order. My friends' gyros looked hot and delicious and my gyro plate was HUGE. It came with a decent salad and a soda for ten bux. Not bad at all. Breakfast is served all day too, so I'll be coming back to try it out for sure. A lot of reviews complain about the pizza and the salads, but what the hell are you doing looking for New York pizza in Los Angeles??? If you want salad, go to a salad place! Don't complain when you order a mediocre menu item and you GET what you asked for!

    (5)
  • Audrey N.

No reason to eat here unless you need to sober up or feed a alcohol-fueled pizza craving. Food-wise, its actually not bad! I'd say better than the pizza you'd find next to other nightlife spots, but the prices reflect that as well. If you're sober enough to drive 2 minutes anywhere else then skip, but if you're stumbling out of Hemingway's, why not?

    (2)
  • Tasha H.

I can't remember if I was drunk or not, but I remember the pizza being pretty good. Perfect for nights when you stumble out onto Hollywood Boulevard from having one too many, and you just need something greasy and filling.

    (3)
  • Shaka S.

This wasn't my first time here but it was my first time here sober. I usually just have a single slice of pepperoni pizza to soak up the alcohol I consume while bar hopping on Hollywood Boulevard. This time, however I decided to try a gyro and I was impressed with it. The pizza here is mediocre and the customer service is even worse but that gyro was on point! Try one if you get a chance.

Are you drunk and hungry? Are you on your iphone looking for places that are open late and Urbanspoon keeps saying Arbys? Are you never in the mood for Arby's when you're drunk? Then you've just shaken out Combo's Pizza and Deli! It's not the prettiest place in Hollywood, but it sure does have a really great pizza! I came here on my birthday and with a friend and a slanted walk I wandered into Combos. Thankfully my semi sober buddy had been here and told me that the pizza is really good here that I ordered, well what else, their combo pizza slice. MMM mmm delicious. Good toppings and a good size for the price too. I'd say good eats. So if you're wandering aimless in hollywood and happen to come across this place, give it a try, but remember that it's not the outside but the inside that counts! Enjoy.

It breaks my heart to see tourists wander in here when Joe's Pizza and Village Pizza are so close. I don't know how this place stays open.

*****This review is only for the GYRO******* Warning: do NOT go to Combo's for the pizza (or the pasta, or salad). You may be tempted to believe that pizza is their specialty, given it's prominence on their menu but do NOT be fooled. The pizza is only edible if you are very drunk and/or have no taste buds. I once thought the greek salad was decent, but when I tried it the 2nd time, I realized that I was just really, really hungry the 1st time I had it. My other half loves the gyro. If the restaurant offers it, he'll order it. Combo's gyro is not perfect but it's pretty tasty, and for the price and convenience, it's a solid 3 stars. Tip: order the gyro combo, not the plate b/c the fries are better than the salad.

    (3)
  • Abby B.

This place is called Combos, but they wouldn't let us have the combo deal with our single slice if pizza. Fail! No where on their menu did they note restrictions. The food was okay but the service and restrictions were frustrating. It also seemed a little pricy for the type of place it is. However, if you're in that part of town, you're probably somehow intoxicated or in a hurry, so whatevs... :/

    (2)
  • Ti B.

My man is in love with this place. Why? It is ok. Expensive. I think I figured it out. It is because it is in Hollywood and after a night of excessive drinking...you have the munchies and spending too much for a slice of pizza is cheaper than the 15 dollar cocktail at Skybar! Yeah...that's it! haha!

    (3)
  • Briana W.

Honestly, it's really hard to make crappy pizza, and this place succeeded at that 100%. The service is ok. Pizza slices are expensive ($5). Soda costs like $3.50. Refills cost $1.50. That is just absolutely absurd.

    (1)
  • Bim L.

While this is pretty typical "Boulevard Pizza," it is perhaps the blandest. Thomas M summed it up accurately as cardboard/ketchup/cheez. I've eaten here twice, both times out of desperation. The first time, I had a mid-day bathroom emergency: impending explosive diarrhea. I spared myself the futility of asking if I could "just use the bathroom" and calmly ordered a slice, then casually and politely requested the bathroom key. It got ugly in there. Don't remember anything about the pizza on that occasion, but stopped in for a slice, late night, last weekend, due to proximity and quickness. I was sober, the slice was surprisingly fresh (as in "not old") so it did the trick, but so bland that I kept asking myself, "Am I eating pizza? Am I eating *anything*?" 2 am, starving - do it (or go to Greco's down the street.) If you plan on "going out for pizza," don't go here (or there.) @Marie Q - Yes, it was because you were drunk, but I'm glad it hit the spot for you. @Kelvin C - I feel sorry for you. Bim likes: pizza. Not to be found here.

Ok. So after a night out in Los Angeles, the hommies and I got the munchies, and decided to eat at this garbage pizzeria since its on the Hollywood strip. all 3 of up paid around 30bucks for a big pizza, and some drinks. The place looked cool, HDTV's to watch ESPN, clean, etc. But the pizza? Wiggdy Wack! No taste!! My retarded cousin thats always sick while loosing his sense of taste couldve made a WAAYY better pizza. It was Tasteless! At least taste like something!!! Like a girl that wears no perfume... At least smell like something! AAANNNNDDD, they wouldnt hook a brotha up with a refill!. Combo's, you suck! Holla. Nuff Said.

  • Susy P.

Worst place ever!!! I ordered the spanikopita and side salad and drink which was way to expensive 11 bucks. Salad was ok but the spanikopita was like eating week old seaweed, it was so chewy I could barely swallow it. I went up to the counter to see if they would let me exchange for a slice of pizza but the guy said no refunds and according to him restaurants don't give refunds. And I said yes they do and I will never be coming back here again. I had only stepped in there because I had just gotten out of Pantages theater really hungry. Shoulda gone to the burrito place two stores down. If I could give zero stars I would.

My friends and I came here after the club. The slices are pretty big and they put a lot of toppings on it; pizza was good, but not that great. I've tasted better. The fries were good, too. I believe they take only cash...my friend paid so I kind of forgot. Sorry!

Got hungry, around 10:30pm and went out of the W Hotel and stumbled upon this place. Pizza was OK, nothing really special, and the cheese cake was horrible. I had heartburn during the night. Would not recommend!

  • Donna S.

Not much time. Im hungry! anything that will be quick! Wish I had picked tom yum's next door. I thought it was a bit overpriced for typical deli food and environment. My friend payed $15 for a small salad, meatball sandwich that was not very big and a bottle of water. My meal was $11 for veggie lasagna (the only veggie was spinach), salad, and a small peice of garlic bread. The food was not bad. It just wasn't great. And I thought it would be cheaper considering the grungy, loud environment. I was with a large group, and given the fact that not one person commented on the food when we left, I will assume no one was really impressed.

    (2)
  • M J.

Pizza was alright but the greedy bastards want $1.50 for a refill that I just payed $3.00 for! 2 slices and a drink cost over $14.00!!!

  • Cheryl B.

Now called Leila's Pizza and Deli, we came here just for a late night pizza fix. The guys were nice. The place pretty clean, but empty. (We were there on a Wednesday night.) Pizza was basic. I really liked the dough though. Lots of gooey yummy cheese. I thought the sausage was average, but everything else good. I'd eat here again instead of most places. It's convenient and decent. When you're in the heart of Hollywood, that's pretty A-OK with me.

What in the world is going on with small business owners in Hollywood? Why can't they keep their stuff together? Yesterday Pita on Vine pissed me off - now this place! I walked in for a gyro wrap, priced at $6.49 - the woman at the counter says it comes up to $7.06 with taxes. I ask her if I can pay with a card, she says yes and then presents me with a charged slip for $7.76. I asked where the extra charge came from - she replies there is a .65c charge to use a credit card. I asked her why she did not inform me of that - "oh, I thought you had come in here before!" is her answer. Once I made it clear I was going to get my money back altogether she said she was going to refund the .65c "it comes out of my tips" she mumbled. I offered no answer - there was still a .05c difference unaccounted for. It is not about the pennies I was deceitfully charged for - it is the overall shady business practice that leads me to believe they do it on an ongoing basis in different amounts and have been getting away with it enough times to continue to do it. As for the wrap the meat was not as good as other places in Hollywood (even Chicken Dijon is better) - they had mixed in chicken with the lamb and the beef and the combination tasted bland at best. Moreover the chunks were burned and dry and covered in the oil of the grill they were reheated on. Bottom line: never again!

I would have given this place two stars because the prices are cheap and they make those individual pizzas to-order, but I ordered fries here and they were oily. The oil tasted old. Needless to say, I probably won't be back. I remember them being better (slightly better) when I was a kid, but times must have changed. For cheap pizza, head further West on Hollywood. I think Greco's might be a tad fresher.

If I could give 0 stars I would. If I could give -5 stars I would be even happier. Just paid $11.69 for 2 slices of pizza and a large soda. Pizza is made of cardboard topped with ketchup and some kind of "cheese" that would make Ellios frozen pizzas look amazing. Hands down the *worst* pizza I have ever eaten, at $3.75 a slice to boot. Kelvin: Famous/Original Ray's is a joke to New Yorkers (not to be mistaken with Ray's Pizza on Prince St. that makes the best pie in the world). We laugh at people who eat there. Sadly Combo's can't even come close to Famous Ray's. I can't fault you too much. Having lived in LA County your entire life you obviously have no idea what pizza is supposed to be.

I am a total pizza junkie. During my visit to Manhattan, my goal was to do two things. Eat Ray's Famous Pizza and Papaya's Hot Dog. For those of you who don't know, Ray's Famous is your typical New York pizza joint. Nothing special within' the city. You can almost find one in every corner of Manhattan. This pizza place, pre-made pizza, and when you purchase it, they simply retoast it for you. Now, I know what you're thinking. Reheated pizza? Don't under estimate it because it still was better than any pizza I've ever had in Los Angeles, and I've been living in LA County for my entire 26 year life. Combo's New York Pizzeria however, live's up to it's name. Many places wear "New York" within' their business title but come no where close. Combo's New York Pizzeria, on the other hand, is hands down, the best Los Angeles pizza joint to match Ray's Famous in New York. If you guys just want regular pizza (because it's not like theres such a thing as bad pizza anyways) then call Pizza Hut, call Papa Johns. But if you're looking to dine like a Pizza addicted New Yorker on their lunch break, then dine at Combo's New York Pizzaria. The pizza's great and the staff is friendly.

Rarely do I ever give a place one star...but man this place is horrible. I was running too late to get any real food before watching Wicked at the Pantages so i figured, "hey pizza....can't go wrong there..."....FAIL! The supreme was everything but. It felt like the toppings were put on as an afterthought, it wasn't baked into the cheese what so ever. I picked the slice up and all the effing toppings slid right off! Costco pizza owns this pizza, heck even microwave Digiorno is better, screw that I would rather have Jeno's pizza (3 for $1) from Albertsons. Grumpy service as well. Never again....unless I am drunk and stumbling down the street and so happened to enter not realizing it was this place (which I suspect anyone who gave this place over one star of doing). Note to anyone who rated this place high....everything tastes good when you are drunk, unfortunately when I ate here I wasn't.

rude service, grimey people, lots of bums, open late. all of which are why i dislike this place. the pizza on the other hand isnt half bad. its obviously over priced due to location, hours, and overall hype but i've had shittier. i was coerced to go here one drunken friday by my buddies who didnt want to go to the regular thai spot for our typical "shitfaced-meal". all i remember was eating one slice of some greasy ass pizza and getting a really bad acid indigestion/heartburn attack. ill go back if im starving but who am i kidding, popeyes is up the street and so is sharkys.

This place was totally packed when I walked by, so I figured that was a good sign. Worst pizza I have had in ages. Absolutely awful, awful pizza. Girl at the counter was nice though.

Ugh. I went on the recommendation of somebody at work, and I think it was supposed to be a cruel joke. The $3.75 slice (came out to $4 and change with a cup of tap water) was a good size, but absolutely awful. The crust is flavorless, and the toppings were far from fresh. I would have been better off cutting a frozen pizza in half, and cooking it in my company's toaster-oven. I could go on about the decor, worn out seating, and awful lighting, but I don't have to. Do not step foot in this place. There are plenty of alternatives on Hollywood blvd, and there is no reason for this dump to be in business. This place may be fine if you're drunk, and plan on spending the morning emptying your stomach, but holy shit. This place should not be open during the day.

Pretty good ny style pizza. Price is reasonable. Nothing I would go out of my way for, but if you are visiting the area and looking for a decent pizza it will work.

We stumbled upon this while we were waiting line for Day After/Montemartre Lounge. I've had the pizza place down the street near Ivar and that place was no where as good as combos. I really like the taste to it for "New York" style pizza. We usually just get the cheese flavor and buy the whole pie since it is more fresh and seems more value oriented. Good after clubbing meal if you don't want to go to any sit down/drive thru places.

Terrible. Not even worth eating their food. Blech. You'd think with all of the MI instructors and students need to eat every day, that places like Combo's and the green room would offer better eats. It's a shame, really, but I guess all places with heavy tourist traffic have shitty food. Bummer. If you're in the area, try Kino sushi or Cafe Audrey.

I wanted a slice of pizza and ended up here, deciding to also get a soda and salad on the dinner "special". Turns out it's a smallish soda and salad. You're much better off just getting a slice of pizza. I walked a few blocks west on Hollywood and saw the same deal elsewhere for half as much. The pizza is ok. Normally would give 3 stars but the insane price lowers it a star.

I don't know if it was because it was 2 AM and I was drunk way before last call at The Room, but, I saw this pizza place before walking back to our car and it was calling my name! I got a slice of pepperoni and mushrooms and it was SOO good. New York style and huge... I have no idea how much it was, but I know it was cash only. They also had orange bang which is amazing... Their bathrooms were pretty gross and you had to ask the guy for the key, but hey what do you expect at at 2AM in hollywood?! I hope we meet again on another drunken night.

If you're going to go to a pizza place for the atmosphere and taste...um...maybe this isn't the place for you... And i agree with the others who have tried the 'LA pizzeria" and so far, it hasn't been good. Not to mention, it's kinda expensive, almost 4 dallor for a slice (a huge piece btw) and addtional charge for extra toppings. I could have given it a one but it wasn't that bad, just didn't have much flavor for a pizza. Even commerical pizza places like pizza hut had more flavor. One day we'll find a good pizza joint in LA

Folks, this place ain't fancy.. It's your basic before/after the bar need something in my stomach right now kinda spot. That said the pizza is acceptable. Nothing to write home about.. But tasty enough to enjoy at the moment. Note to those concerned with toppings falling off of the pizza, and any other people who simply don't get it - If you're not observant enough to notice how this pizza shop prepares and serves their pizza, well I'm sorry but that's your fault, not the pizza shop's. This pizza place, and thousands of "by the slice" pizza places all over the world do the same thing. They par bake their pizzas (meaning the cook them a little over half way) and then they take them out of the oven, and, get this, they sit them behind a glass wall so their forthcoming customers can see what types of pre-made pizza slices there are to choose from. Eureka! Sauce and cheese is obviously the basis for most pizzas, so its a simple and efficient place for them to start. So.. if there isn't a slice of pre-made supreme pizza sitting right there in front of your face, then of course they're going to add the toppings after its already partially baked.. and therefore they're not going to be baked into the cheese very well. That's simply how a place like this works. OK? However, if you do what most people do, keep it simple, and order what's sitting in front of you, I'm sure you'll appreciate the carbs to absorb all that brew swishing around in your gut. Comprende? To those of you who do get it, I'm sorry for having to explain all that.. but it seemed necessary.

Discovering Combo's happened by accident. It was way back in 1992 and it was on an bus trip from Hollywood to the Glendale Galleria. A sudden bout of sickness aborted the trip early on at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Ivar Avenue. The nearest establishment with a restroom was Combo's, right at the bus stop. After using the facilities and feeling fine, it was only proper to purchase food to compensate the business. A large, New York-size slice of pizza at the time was around $1.50 and a fountain drink was less than a dollar. The pizza turned out to be so good that the impromptu stop turned out to be supper for the day. As time passed on and food horizons broadened, now a Combo's slice would be seen as adequate for being in the area, not bad but at the same time easily forgettable. Combo's bills itself as New York-style pizza, but the style must be emphasized. The owners have been Greeks, Russians and Armenians. So the pizza shares menu space with gyros, falafel and kebabs. With the gentrification of Hollywood continuing apace, places such as Combo's are becoming endangered species. The ubiquitous burger/pizza/Greek/Middle Eastern kitchens are giving way to bistros, tapas bars and gelato parlors. If Combo's goes, it will be missed. At least by this MetroRider. Transit access: Metro Red Line, Rapid lines 710 and 780, and local lines 2/302, 163, 180/181, 210, 212/312 and 217; and LADOT DASH Hollywood and Holly Trolley nighttime shuttle.

As well as serving pizza-by-the-slice, Combo's also offers individual size mini pizzas in different varieties, gyros, spaghetti and meatballs, a delicious caesar salad, a heart b.l.t., and many other selections, the above named being my personal favorites. The owner is super sweet and toppings and fillings are always heaping, to the point of me having food on my face, usually.

Not a repeat bussiness place. Food is average at best. Owner was rude to many paying diners the day of the Oscars. Not a place I would recommend with so many other better options in Hollywood.

This is one of those places that only stays open from the 2am and tourist crowd. I've had frozen pizza that tasted better. Plus it's not that cheap. I paid $7.50 for a two topping pizza and a water.

This place is horrible! The lady at the counter taking the orders was nice but that didn't last long. We went here because we were waiting to watch a show at the Pantages so we figured we would stop and get something to eat. There were 9 of us and we all sat down to eat. Well 1 person in our party found a hair in her food. So she goes to the counter and tells a man that is standing there (which we find out later is the owner) and tells him she finds a hair. All she wants is a new plate of food because she is hungry and it wasnt a big deal she just didn't wanna eat the piece with hair in it. So she tells him about the hair and the owner begins to fight with her! Saying that it is her own hair. She clearly has long hair and the hair in the food is short. He continues fighting with her and our whole group saying there is nobody with black hair in the kitchen. When the ONLY person in the kitchen making the food has black short hair. He moves on to his next excuse from the hair and says it is a fiber from the lettuce. He then says we are just trying to make money off of him and we are horrible people and just arguing with us about a hair in the food that we just wanted to be exchanged. He even pulls money out of his pocket and says "here this is what you want? take the money!" when we never said anything about wanting money. WE JUST WANTED HAIRLESS FOOD!!!! We all purchased food from there because we were hungry and all she wanted was a new plate of food so she could eat before the show. This man is a joke and has horrible people skills. To make matters worse the food wasn't good either. I would never go here again and suggest nobody else to go there either!! Horrible customer service skills and horrible food!

Rated for the Gyros. They are pretty darn good. Fries and drink combo for about $10. Cash only. I have never even bothered trying the pizza, it doesn't look like anything special. True, the gentlemen behind the counter are no sweethearts, but that's fine...and they warm up after seeing you a few times.

yet another ny-style pizza place i've been to. the reason why i rate 3 stars is because while this place has been pretty good sometimes, other times ive gotten some half-baked / half-raw pizzas.. its just a place to go to if you're around the area, dont make a special trip for it.
