I had given up having good BBQ until I ate here. Excellent service, great salad and tender flavorful meats. I am coming back.

First off, for lunch Tin Roof is great. Their menu items are awesome but take a look at their specials on the white board as well. There are some hidden gems that are also great. I recently had the occasion to use Tin Roof on very short notice (5-6 days) for a catering event of over 125 people. Heather, the catering guru at Tin Roof, helped me out tremendously from the menu, to the table set up and much more. She made this a very easy event during an otherwise chaotic time. I can't recommend Tin Roof enough, either for lunch or for an event you need catered.

Always love their ribs. They just fall off the bone and the Mac and cheese is so creamy good. But if I'm in a hurry, then it is the old stand by Sloppy Johnny, and coleslaw! It is what got me in the door and has had me hooked ever since!!

Great food. Ordered the Tri Tip sandwich, the meat was very flavorful and mouth watering. Also ordered the garlic rosemary mashed potatoes which are absolutely delicious! If I had a complaint it would be the spicy BBQ sauce....it's very tasty, just not very spicy. I like a little kick with my BBQ. Anyways, overall a great meal and will definitely return.

I tried Tin Roof for lunch recently and had the pulled pork plate. The meat had a nice flavor, but was a bit dry. The blackened outside part was really tasty, and the BBQ sauce isn't bad. A side of mac and cheese was good, and the sweet potato fries are excellent. Service was attentive and friendly, and they now have Samuel Adams on draft. Apparently they do quite a bit of catering, based on the size of the mobile smoker parked outside Not the best BBQ pork I've ever eaten, but I will return to try the tri-tip

Ok so came here on advice of a Lodi police friend of mine but not to my tasting this place was not good to me! 2 stars for the meat which was ok sauce horrible! Potato salad horrible the only good part of my order was the BBQ chicken salad. Not worth the drive to Lodi for me .

We used tin roof to cater our wedding. We got the chicken with bbq sauce, green beans with bacon, mashed potatoes, salad and bread for $10.95 a person! Great price and great food! The only bad thing I have to say is not necessarily about the company but they did give a recommendation for the dj we used and he was terrible! So don't take their word on vendor recommendations.

Stopped here for lunch with some buddies the other day. Several 4 star reviews so I was anxious to try it. One person ordered 1/2 rack of ribs... said they were good. Two of us ordered the pulled pork sandwich. meh.... First off, it wasn't/didn't seem like pulled pork. More like cut up pork, little chunks. Small sandwich for the money. Maybe four tablespoons of meat on the small french roll. Server said the mild bbq sauce was more like catchup. I tasted it, she was right. She recommended the spicier bbq sauce, which was tasty and just about right. We had sides of the homemade potato salad..it was just ok. She brought me a side of the homemade macaroni salad so I could try it. Tasted like both the potato and macaroni salad were made with the same 'mix'. Both were just 'ok'. I would not mind eating there again but I would not go out of my way to do so. Kudos to our server. She was very friendly and outgoing and a real asset to the restaurant. Wish I had asked her name.....

OMG this had to have been the best hamburger I have had in a long time. Good food, service and prices. Will for sure come again. My husband loved the tri tip sandwich. No Weekends though!! They are a catering business as well so weekends they are doing events. Worth making time on a weekday to come over.

Great BBQ in a true friendly, small town atmosphere. If you are looking for no frills barbecue, skip the expensive BBQ chains and come to the Tin Roof. Service is great, all the usual BBQ choices, with home style sides and priced right.

I almost passed up tasting Tin Roof BBQ's amazing food. Their table had the longest line at the Taste of Lodi festival yesterday. After enjoying their trip tip, mac and cheese, and BBQ, I understand why there was a constant line for their food. The trip tip was tender and flavorful and topped with a delicious dollop of horseradish. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy but not too heavy. The BBQ literally melted in my mouth - a perfect balance of salty, sweet and spicy. This was my favorite food offering at the festival. I seriously considered getting back in line.

I've never been disappointed at Tin Roof. Richard and his crew serve up some great BBQ along with some tasty sides. The mac and cheese rocks. Note that his burgers are ground tri tip! Didn't know that until I had my first one yesterday. Get it with any number of cheeses, sauteed shrooms, caramelized onions. You get the picture. Love the brisket sando and the pulled pork sando too. If you want BBQ for dinner you can call in an order in the afternoon and pick it up in the evening. They aren't open for sit-down dinners but To Go works just fine. Try it!

Tin Roof BBQ catered my wedding reception a few weeks ago, and Richard and his team did a wonderful job! The food was excellent, Richard and his staff were prompt and efficient, and left the venue looking great afterwards. Our menu consisted of beef brisket, grilled chicken, mac-n-cheese with sausage (my favorite!) baked beans, sauteed veggies, a green salad, and the housemade cornbread. Everything was delicious, and they even packed up the leftovers for us to enjoy. All in all, a great company to work with, very reasonably-priced, flexible, knowledgable, and helpful. Thank you, Tin Roof!

We had Tin Roof cater our wedding in August. It's been a bit, but I wanted to review. Everyone loved the food, and on top of that, they were really affordable. We had the tri-tip and chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. It was all great. The green beans were cooked with tomatoes and bacon. I was a fan. However, I have to admit that while the food was delicious, working with Richard was probably what really won my husband and I over. Yes, he is a bit unorganized. He had some trouble finding our paperwork once. It was never an actual issue, though. We were on a tight budget, and Richard went above and beyond catering. He helped us make a to-do list, since we were trying to do a lot of things ourselves, including details we would never have thought of on our own. He taught me how to fold napkins and even offered to send some people over to help us set up if we needed it. When we were told our cupcakes were going to come in boxes not assembled on the tier platform we had, he said he'd do it no problem without charge. If you need a caterer who not only has good food (because trust me, it's awesome) but also one who's down to Earth and will level with you, choose Tin Roof.

Tin Roof catered my daughter's wedding and I can not say enough about how wonderful these caterers are- Richard, Karen and especially Heather were just amazing to work with, they were instrumental in making the wedding a huge success. Everyone loved the food and couldn't stop talking about it. The staff was very professional and they worked miracles in helping us with last minute things in getting ready for the start of wedding. Heather was invaluable in pre-planning, they know what they are doing and they know what you are going to need. They really care about your wedding being a success. I went over things with Heather many times in the course of the year, she gave me invaluable advise. Owners Richard and Karen are just wonderful people and I am so grateful to them for all they have done to make our wedding so successful. The food as always is the best BBQ I and my family have ever had on the west coast, my family comes down from Seattle and the first thing they want to do is go to Tin Roof. On wedding night, the food was even better than the tasting and the tasting was outstanding. They even went out of their way to provide a vegetation dish to a finicky wedding guest who said it was really delicious. I am already looking forward to my next Tin Roof meal. Thank YOU so very much Richard, Karen, Heather and crew- You are simply the best!

This place is a pain to find and well out of the way, but worth driving a little further for an affordable and delish lunch! The place is cute and clean and the service is warm and friendly. I though the ribs, potato salad and cornbread were amazing. I will definitely return, sooooo good!!!

My fiance and I went to Tin Roof May 1, for a tasting. I have to say the service, quality of food, and options were beyond expectations. The owner, Richard was VERY polite, respectful and eager to please. We tasted first, a salad. Now salads are easy to do but, all of his dressings are homemade and very high quality. My fiance had a thousand island dressing, which was fantastic (and I normally hate this dressing) and I had a creamy balsamic dressing. Was delicious. Next we were served mashed potatoes. Creamy, fluffy and packed with flavor. Everything came out of the kitchen warm. Next we had a Alfredo type mac n cheese with sausage. Was so delicious. Not too much sauce and perfect amount of noodle to sausage. Then we tried bbq beans with pork. Omg, to DIE FOR. Very good. We sampled the tri tip and chicken and both were cooked perfectly and the homemade bbq sauce was delicious. Both meats were juicing, smoked just right but not overpowering. I'm very shocked to see a bad comment about this sauce. If you are used to store bought mediocre sauce, then yeah you might not like it, but honestly very very good. To taste every flavor put into the sauce. I think, Richard should actually sell it. After these samples we tasted Gardiner (spelling may be off)which is pickled vegetables. Absolutely scrumptious. Not too much vinegar and had a nice kick to them. All in all my experience was wonderful, the food absolutely delicious, and the owner impressed me highly. He was not in a rush at all. I strongly want him to cater our wedding, because I know not only will the food be outstanding but, so will the service!

If you are looking for bbq in Lodi, this is the only option. Everything they do is golden. I have tried it all I think! Their loaded baked potatoes are amazing, brisket, tri-tip, pulled pork are all of the finest quality. But the best meal at the Tin Roof is their cheese burger. It is by far the best burger in Lodi and I would go as far as saying the best in the Central Valley. It is just amazing and receives so little fan fare. Probably the best kept secret in town. As for the sides, the rosemary mashed potatoes and mac n' cheese are wonderful. You can't go wrong at the Tin Roof BBQ.

3 and a half stars... I really had high hopes for this place...I think it had 4 stars on Yelp... We stopped by here after doing some errands and were totally hungry...I had never eaten here before and I thought that BBQ sounded awesome for lunch. Now maybe its just me but when I think BBQ I think chicken and ribs. Well we got there and there is no chicken or ribs on the menu to be found. Lots of pulled pork, brisket, stuff like that but we had to ask about chicken or ribs and it happened that they had a special on ribs for 10 bucks or something...I ordered that. The ribs came, they were not horrible but I have had better. I was hoping for something dripping with sauce and what I got just had barely enough. The ribs themselves were kinda fatty and a little overdone. The garlic rosemary mashed potatoes I had for a side were awesome! (A little small but tasty) Our server was AWESOME! She is the reason I will more than likely go back and try it again. (Maybe this time they will have chicken...hint hint.)

The following pre-requisites have to be met before you can enter Tin Roof BBQ... 1 Blue-Collar, or wanna-be Blue-Collar 2 Better be wearin' a Baseball Cap Sports Teams will not do! Farm implement related or NASCAR ONLY! 3 Male or Female (pants wearin', loud and rough-talkin' or better ) 4 Likes stuff HOT, as in Spicy 5 Drives a SUV or, at least, a Truck (or Larger vehicle) 6 You'd better like Country Music 7 And you'd better like meat, which consists of only the following: Tri-Tip Oakwood Smoked Brisket Oakwood Smoked Pork Shoulder Slow cooked Beef & Pork Hardwood Cooked Turkey Breast Hot Links If you meet these requirements, you just might like it here for Lunch or early Dinner! Before I went to see my daughter in Orange County, I biked past this place and reminded myself to try this place out. Today was the day! Tin Roof BBQ has been here around three years, before that no one knows anything (at least among the wait-staff I talked to)!. Tin Roof BBQ is a non-descript (from the exterior) restaurant in a medium-sized industrial area at the East edge of Lodi, that seemingly caters to the working-class male. The atmosphere is dark wood with wood-ceiling fans; there are about a dozen tables scattered in the front of the restaurant, with a bar area that seats around six. As you walk in... just walk over to the "Order Here" sign... peruse the plastic coated menu... place your order... pay at the end of the bar... take a number... sit down and wait for your order to be delivered to your table. On the menu today.... Hot Links Sandwich (*****-Flavor ***-Size $6.95) - A 5"x3 1/2" French Roll sandwich with Hot Links, Red Bell Peppers, Sauteed Onions, and Creole Mustard. I upgraded the Sandwich to a Meal for $2.50 that will allow you to choose a side (Garlic Rosemary Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Smoky Beans, Macaroni Salad, Cole Slaw, or Potato Salad) and a drink with unlimited refills. This Sandwich definitely lived up to it's name of HOT. Super Tasty. BUT... I ate the whole thing, but was very hungry afterwards. It could have been my bike ride... but I don't think so. Sweet Tea (***) - Unlimited Refills! Garlic Rosemary Mashed Potatoes (*** 1/2) - Real Potatoes... not enough Garlic, though; and kinda small portions. Service (****) - Waitress was pretty talkative and friendly. Sandwiches run from $6.95 to $7.49 with an option to upgrade to a meal for an extra $2.50. Four different kinds of Salads: Small $3.75, Large $6.95-$8.95. For those who like their BBQ Meat by the pound... prices of meat per pound is considerably less than Salisbury's Market ( yelp.com/biz/salisburys-… ). For example Tri-Tip $15.95, Pulled Pork $8.95, Brisket $15.95, and Spare Ribs 1/2 Rack $10.95, Full Rack $19.95. Clarification of hours.... Until Yelp updates the hours M-F 11am-4pm. Tin Roof BBQ says they're open on weekends, but call ahead first. I guess they open sometimes on weekends. In summary, if you have a BIG appetite like me... you could spend $20 here and still not be satisfied. 3/4 of the place was filled with people by the time I finished Lunch... and there were guys a lot bigger than me there... so, I guess the portions are OK. (***-People who eat as much as me. ****-Average-Sized Appetite)

My husband and I had lunch here for the first time a few days ago. We thought it had a very comfortable laid back atmosphere, and had great friendly service. I ordered a breadless tri- tip sandwich, with rosemary garlic mashed potatoes. although I thought the tri tip was a little bland it was nice and tender and paired exceptionally well with the garlic aioli sauce and salsa which were fantastic! Loved the rosemary garlic mashed potatoes! Also tried the BBQ sauce on my tri tip and it was tasty. My husband ordered the pulled pork and brisket, he says that's the best way to truly judge BBQ. He was not overly impressed, he said the brisket was to dry. He also mentioned that a good BBQ should be able to stand alone without adding sauce. He did however love the beans. Also said the pulled pork was decent, and true pulled pork. He is a great cook himself and so judges things a bit different than I do. I would love to go back. He also mentioned the lack of TV and how much better they may do if they added a couple.

I watch a lot of that Diner's and Drive In guy and so I've come to notice there were not BBQ joints in these her parts. I was told about Tin Roof and my wife said we should go for lunch. I was excited and had the pulled pork sandwich. It was the best I have had in Lodi so thanks for that. It would have 5 STARS if there were additional types of BBQ sauces and french fries too. I will go back and do recommend you try Tin Roof BBQ.

My husband & I were in town for my daughter's wedding and wanted to try a BBQ restaurant. We can't find any decent BBQ places in Hawaii so we took this opportunity to try Tin Roof BBQ. After reading the Yelp reviews, we decided on the tri-tip sandwich. We weren't disappointed. We both had the cole slaw for our sides. The meals were just the right amount of food for our needs since we planned on having a substantial pre-wedding dinner. Even though we arrived about 20 minutes prior to closure, we received good service. It was a pleasure to experience the homey feel, courtesy, and delicious "American" food which can't be found in Hawaii. We would definitely return to Tin Roof BBQ if our travels bring us back to Lodi. Dr. & Mrs. Quimby

Was happy to see a good BBQ joint come to town (not to be confused with grilling.) Love the pork sanwich and ribs. Tri-Tip is tasty as well. (think i like famous dave's brisket better) Rosemary garlic mashed potatoes and potato salad are above average. Owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. Nice open dining area and they have a serve yourself soda area. Great place to grab a great sandwich and a cold brewskie.

We have had them cater our events since they opened and everyone raves about how good they are. Most of our team eats there regularly and have yet to have anything bad on the menu. All the meats are good but the turkey sandwich is the absolute best in the state! Mike Constellation Brands

Awesome food - nothing else like it around in town that's for sure. Try the "Our Favorite" Tri-tip with a side of cole slaw and a side of Mac and Cheese with Sausage...

Excellent food and very clean inside. I have a hearty appetite and the tri-tip sanwich and 1 side filled me up. I think the employees are all family members which gives this place a homey atmosphere. The only thing I have tried here is the tri-tip sanwhich and it was absolutely delicious. I had the potato salad, which i wasn't a huge fan of but my girlfriend seemed to like it. I took a gander at their "small" baked potato and it was freakin' huge with all the fixings (sour cream, cheese, chives and some type of meat i think). Due to the fact that everything is served pretty fresh off the bbq pit we had to wait about 5-10 minutes, but i would rather wait for fresh warm bbq then some soggy cold slab of meat. My girlfriend and I plan on eating here again within the next few days and I suggest you do the same!

what a joke ! I had been craving a tri tip Sammy so I decided to give this place a try. Me and the wife walked in about 1:30 place was empty except for two tables. One waitress cleaning a table by the front door didn't bother to great us. So I had to ask if we just seat ourselves. Once we grabbed a table I looked around and noticed 4 employees all cleaning up and walking around. About 5 minutes passed and not one of them bothered to ask us if we would like a drink or order mean they didn't even make eye contact. Not sure whats going on in this place but we waited a bit longer and watched the employees walk around and clean and talk. Then we just got up and walked out. What ever, big waist of time ! I guess I will never know if it is any good because I wouldn't go back.

This place is just around the corner from where I work, and I wonder why I don't eat here more often. Not a lot of choices on the menu (tri-tip, brisket, pulled pork sandwiches), your typical barbecue place. But they are excellent. My personal favorite is the pulled pork. I think what pushes the sandwiches over the top is the bread: Crusty on the outside and a perfect sandwich bread. I've never had a bad meal here.

    (5)
  • Joel P.

Had the pulled pork sandwich with a side of beans. The beans were just sweet enough to balance the sauce without being overpowering. The pulled pork came with no sauce on it and was a little dry, but still edible. If you like your pulled pork with a wet cider vinegar sauce this isn't it. The smoke is present without overpowering the flavor of the meat. While not my favorite way to prepare pulled pork, you can tell they put some care into it. All in all I would eat here again, although will probably try a different meat.

They catered my wedding in September 2011. We got so many compliments on how good the food was, and I'd have to agree. The food was sooo good! We fed 150 guests for about $2,500 and that included bartenders, cake cutting and champagne toasts. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because the owner, Richard, isn't very organized. I had to tell him the same things a few different times, and he forgot things that he agreed to. However, as the wedding neared his wife stepped in and she was very organized and helpful. They make a really good team. I would highly recommend them, and will absolutely go have lunch there whenever I'm in town.

Excellent beans and the Sloppy Joey ?? was fantastic. Spoke with the owner for a few minutes and we had great service even though we arrived a few minutes before closing. We went based on the San Joaquin review and the drive from Stockton was worth it. I am glad to see the place is doing well. We will be back!

Went here today for the first time with a co-worker and his father who was doing some training for us. Things have apparently changed a bit from some earlier reviews. You seat yourself, but a waiter(ess) takes your order and brings your food. I had the tri-tip sandwich and cole-slaw. The sandwich was tasty, but needed a few shots of the BBQ sauce that was on the table. The slaw was very fresh and had good flavor. My co-worker (who has been here many times) had the Tin Roof salad. This thing came in a bowl as big as a kitchen mixing bowl and had the usual salad mixings plus turkey and tri-tip. Boy did it look good. We got there a bit before noon and there were several tables open. Within 10 minutes the place was packed. I'll definitely go back to try some other things.

This is THE PLACE for weekday lunch. My husband and I visit often with our kids. We usually order the pulled pork or smoked turkey sandwich, and the tri-tip sandwich. The side dishes are dee-lish. Mac & cheese, macaroni salad, garlic fries are our favorites. Desserts are made fresh, too. (Can you say "Lemon bars"?!) The staff is great. Owners visit the tables to make sure everything is satisfactory. Wait-staff is super friendly. If TRBBQ has a fault, it's not having enough seating ... but that problem is easily solved by coming before or after the noon (rush) hour.

    (5)
  • M S.

Some of the best Tri-tip around. The waiters and the owner of the restaurant are extremely personable and they have great food. The Macaroni and Cheese is a delicious side along with all their great sandwiches. Everytime I'm in Lodi I stop by!! Delicious!

    (5)
  • Chelcy G.

Not many places like this in Lodi, pretty good, but not the best BBQ ever. I liked the Tri-Tip a lot. To me there weren't a huge amount of options, but I like the vibe of the place. I recall them having really weird hours and closing strangely early although that could have changed by now-it's been about a year. Not sure if they still have them, but they had local shows here for a while as well (which is pretty cool). Not a huge fan of the sides, but the meat was pretty good and there aren't many BBQ options in Lodi.

It's good. A lil pricey but still good. The sandwiches can be a lil bigger.

  • Nancy B.

This place has one of the best tri tip sandwiches, very tender meat, excellent flavor. But the location and atmosphere is not the greatest. I didn't know about this place until I started searching for a bbq restaurant. It's located in the industrial area of Lodi, the dining area has the feel of sitting in a school cafeteria, in fact you go up to a counter and place your order, then move on to the cashier to pay and then find a seat and the wait staff then brings you your food. Service was slow but very nice and friendly. This is the type of place that you come in to eat quickly simply for the nourishment, probably better to call ahead and pick up and eat somewhere else. The sandwiches were great, the baked beans were not. I will come back though to try their chicken and ribs from their take out menu.

Plenty of valid info in the other reviews. This is not your every day bbq joint the chef, and I really do mean chef, has fused bbq w/ bold fun flavors that you just don't get anywhere else . A true original, this is the apitamy of the "hidden gem". The food here has given me multiple foodgasms. Everthing I've had here has been delightful and reasonably priced. If you are thinking about going, GO! you will not be dissapointed, but you may become addicted.

Wow! Tin Roof was seriously the best BBQ find in the Central Valley. The BF and I was in Lodi and had some time to kill before our movie showed, so of course we decided to find something to eat. Based on Yelp ratings, we ended up at Tin Roof. The BF has been having a huge craving for some good BBQ for a few months now, even looking into purchasing a smoker of his very own. As you can see we were serious about finding some amazing BBQ, but we can finally say our search came to an end when we arrived at Tin Roof. Our waitress was very nice and led us to our seats. The BF ordered the brisket sandwich and I ordered the tri-tip chili with cornbread. Omg!! So delicious and yes the BF and I had our moment of silence to enjoy our delicious meal. The brisket was smoked nicely and very tender. It was served on bread that was slathered with butter and garlic! That dish was amazing. On top of that there were different sauces that our waitress brought out to us to try with the brisket. And yes, all the sauces were all delicious in their own way. I couldn't pick out a favorite. Now my dish was amazing (I'm really running out of adjectives to describe our experience...lol)! The chili was very similar to how my mom makes chili using actual steak cubes instead of ground beef. This is honestly the best way to make chili. Tin Roof did not skimp on the amount of tri-tip you get in your chili. There was a lot and so worth the price. The spices were on point you tasted the smokey chili flavor and the consistency was nice and thick. I'm not a fan of watery, runny chili. Breaking apart the cornbread on top of the chili was simply divine. A nice sweetness to round off a spice-filled dish. The BF and I unanimously agreed that Tin Roof BBQ would be our go to spot for amazing BBQ. We will definitely be back to try out other menu items! Great Work Tin Roof!

I had no idea about this lovely little establishment until a friend recently brought me a salad from here. A couple days later we stopped in for lunch. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean with plenty of seating. They offer a variety of barbecue options (salads, sandwiches, ribs, burgers) as well as beer. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and fast. My only complaint would be that they're only open during the week and close at 4. I'm looking forward to my next visit meal here!

Best meal in Lodi! I'm only mad we didn't eat here before (earlier in our trip) so we could eat here again! Great tri-tip and sides! Friendly staff. Packed with locals in the know.

It is so hit and miss how your sandwich will turn out at Tin Roof. Pulled pork used to be amazing, then a few weeks ago it was super dry. So maybe someone else complained. Today I ordered pulled pork again, and my sandwich had globs of fat within it. Dry meat was bad, but fatty is just GROSS!!!

We could not be happier with the rehearsal dinner that was held here for my son's wedding in August. Richard and his staff were amazing! The food was delicious and perfect for what my son wanted! They allowed us to decorate and set up early. Personally thought the food was better than the wedding meal held at a local venue! Highly recommend!!!

Came here for the first time with my kids for lunch today. I got the favorite tri tip sandwich. The meat was tender and delicious, the bread was very soft and fresh. For my side I ordered garlic fries (I am a garlic lover) and these were the amazing! Not greasy or oily, lots of fresh garlic yum! My boys shared the pulled pork meat plate with coleslaw. Meat was moist and there wasn't much fat. The coleslaw was very fresh and crisp. I appreciate that they let you put the sauce on your own meat, and they offer a variety to suit your tastes. Service was great (they kept our drinks full, but also gave us our space to enjoy our meal without too many interruptions) , portions were big, prices were affordable, and the food was delicious! We will definitely be adding Tin Roof BBQ to our list of favorites lunch spots :)

Ground tritip burger with Swiss. That meat was so thick and juicy! Can't wait to try the BBQ ribs and rosemary mashed potatoes. Wait staff was mostly pleasant and very quick. They've been there nine years. I never heard of them but I'm surely going back next time I'm in Lodi.

Had a quick lunch with a client out in Lodi. He is a regular and suggested the place and I am sure glad I went. My client had the Tin Roof salad that was loaded with fresh meats over a bed of lettuce and other veggies....it looked good and he said it was great. I ordered the Tri Tip #1 sandwich and did not really read the menu.... I am not a picky eater, but love to eat. Sandwich came out on a roll with BBQ tri tip that was smoky and perfectly cooked. It was garnished with lettuce and a bit of seasoned mayo....I'll fully read the menu next time. Bottom line is...it was the tastiest tri tip sandwich I have ever had. Going back with the better half next time.

Yep. I'm giving 5 stars to a BBQ place not in the south! Being southern born and raised I was a skeptic and a BBQ snob thinking that no one could do BBQ like the south. I know... I was being a BBQ snob. So they proved me wrong. It is different and delicious! Highly recommended!

My only complaint about this place would be the hours of operation. It's too far away from where I work to drive over for lunch and they are not open on the weekends and close before I get off of work on weekdays (4pm), today was a fluke and I wanted BBQ! I had a brisket sandwich with cole slaw and both were excellent. I like the, I believe N. Carolina style?, BBQ sauce with it's vinegar tang. The rolls used for the sandwich was fresh, soft, and seemingly buttery. My wife had the brisket plate and mac n' cheese with sausage and it was pretty good too. The brisket was not mushy or over-cooked and not over smoked. Although a little pricey, I will try to make an effort to come back so I can review for consistency, but give the place a shot, better than Dickey's and shames the Smokey Shack!

Awesome food.....had the Brisket sandwhich. The bread was soft and delicious. The meat was tasty and sliced thin which made it very easy to eat. Great family owned restaurant. I highly recommend Tin Roof BBQ!!! Next time I'm trying the tri-tip burger. Ill be back soon!

The "favorite" tri-tip with garlic aioli was delicious and highly recommended. We also got the brisket sandwich, Mac & cheese and rosemary mashed potatoes which were OK.

Service is great and the best spinach salad in the area. The chef salad and tri tip is awesome. Definitely recommend this place.

My boyfriend and I stopped in to give this place a try when passing through town. Our food was so good! I got the turkey sandwich with a side of baked beans and he got a BBQ tri tip sandwich with macaroni. My turkey sandwich was perfect! The turkey was carved exactly how I like it, not too thin, but not too thick. The baked beans had the perfect amount of shredded pork in them. My boyfriend also enjoyed his meal, and said it reminded him of his family's BBQ. Definitely give this place a try! Service was top notch too!

If you're a meat lover, this is the place to go. I had the simple sloppy joe sandwich and it was actually to die for. The lady behind the counter was really friendly. It is in an unusual place, however, somewhere in the industrial part of Lodi near Hwy 99. The only complaint I have is that it is a tad pricey, otherwise, I recommend this place.

This place is amazing. We are regulars here and no one can come close to the tri tip sandwich. The BBQ sauce is really good. Great service and great people.

I love this place. They have great tri-tip, but I especially love their cheese burger. At 1/2 pound, it takes a little while to cook by is worth the wait. The burger isn't on the printed menu but is always on the "specials" board.

This place is delicious! I work less then a block from their location and every morning I smell their smokers going, makes me crave BBQ for breakfast! Their meat is all fresh and cooked perfectly! My favorite is the turkey sandwich, turkey piled high topped with avocado, tomato, cheese and delicious garlic aoli! The mac and cheese is to die for, as well as the tritip chilli! I have not once tried something at tin roof that wasn't fresh and amazing! The staff is great, they greet you with a smile and your name of you frequent! Sara is the sweetest ever, and she's a great server! Jamie who handles the counter and to go is also great and super sweet! I highly recommend Tin Roof BBQ!

Some of the best BBQ I have had. This place is right around the corner and is a weekly must have when we are looking to get something for lunch. I tend to order the brisket sandwich and the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese might be some of the best that I have tried. Its best to call in your order in advance since it takes anywhere from 10-15 minutes for a to go order. If you are in the area, don't be fooled by the location, this is a must.

I was looking for a good Tri-tip sandwich in Lodi and my favorite chain is too far from there, so, on a Yelp tip, I tried Tin Roof BBQ & Catering. I brought my sister and wife with me as well. My wife and I ordered the "Our Favorite" tri-tip sandwiches, hers as a half-sandwich w/salad. My sister had the Chili and we ordered two medium sides, Mac & Cheese w/sausage and Garlic Rosemary Mashed Potatoes. First off: my favorite chain is no longer my favorite. Tin Roof's tri-tip sandwiches melt in your mouth! The garlic aioli and caramelized onions that make it the "Our Favorite" just made it better. I'm coming back for more of this (or maybe one of the other tri-tip sandwiches offered). I did not taste the salad or chili, but both got a thumbs up from my dining companions. The Garlic Rosemary Mashed Potatoes were excellent and unique. The Mac & Cheese w/sausage was fine too. I could make a meal of either. I will be going back to Tin Roof BBQ because there is more on the menu I want to sample. The scratch-made ingredients make this a hidden jewel in Lodi.

I have not been here for a while but I do remember the Mac and Cheese and I still have yet to have a better Mac and cheese from any restaurant, hands down. As for the sandwich I had, I remember it being a little to dry for my taste, still great flavors and good decent portions. The best BBQ place in the 209!

If you want brisket better call in and reserve some before you go. It's divine. Delicious cornbread, tritip chili, we love it here. Worth the $$.

One of my favorites. I've had them cater special occasions and love to eat at the restaurant. It's REAL BBQ. Not something that has been shipped in and re-heated. Recommended to all of my friends.

The ambiance seems fun if you come with a group and the service was very friendly. The food is pretty good, but nothing special. If you are just looking for a spot to head to with work friends with decent food, this place isn't bad at all.

I live in Elk Grove and just can't seem to find any real good BBQ nearby. I usually do my own BBQing but sometimes I just want to go out and enjoy some cue without having to lift a finger. I had a day off midweek and decided to go and try Tin roof BBQ based on the Yelp reviews. Winner! I had ribs and tri tip. The ribs came off the bone nicely but were not falling apart if you know what I mean. They were BBQed perfectly with a good rub. Nice taste and the barbecue sauce on the side was very good. Tri-tip had a nice smoked flavor and was tender. Corn bread, macaroni salad and garlic mashed potatoes all tasted homemade. This isn't Texas or the Midwest mind you but it's a very solid place to eat. I will definitely be back.

Delicious sandwiches! A lil pricy but worth it! About $9. My goal is to try all the sandwiches and so far I only have one left to try .

Second time in a week, love this place. Smoked turkey is AMAZING! Not the traditional red beans and rice, more like a gumbo with turkey and sausage; that being said, it was delicious!!

Me and my friend Dave decided to meet here for lunch this afternoon (1-14-10). When I walked in the door about 12:45 pm, I noticed there wasn't a empty table to be had in sight. The only seats open were stools at the bar. Right after sitting down, I was promptly greeted by a server. I ordered a beer to pass the time and within 15 minutes, the crowd had dissipated to the point there were now tables and seats available to sit at. I moved from the bar to a to a two person table by the restrooms. Dave arrived shortly after I moved and joined me. I ordered their half soup (Gumbo) and Sandwich (Tri Tip) and Dave decided on their Tri Tip with a side of Cole Slaw. My Gumbo was darn good. It had chunks of smoked turkey breast, cut up pieces sausage and rice. My Tri Tip sandwich was delicious. The meat was smoked to perfection. About an 1/8 of an inch in thickness for the cuts and the meat was super tender. Dave said his sandwich and slaw we're pretty tasty too. I tend to measure how good a meal is by how much is left on a persons plate when they say their done or full. In our case, the food must have been really good. Both mine and Dave's plates were licked clean. The only thing left was the lettuce they used as a garnish. I really enjoyed the food, the atmosphere and the servers who really seemed to enjoy their jobs. Always walking with a smile and always checked to make sure me and Dave were okay. Lastly, I also tend to judge places on how well not only the restaurant is kept, but their restrooms too. Before leaving and heading back to Tracy, I made a pit stop and noticed, even after the heavy lunch time crowd, the men's restroom was clean and well stocked. I even noticed a postal worker stop in just to use the restroom. Once again, I would like to thank my fellow yelper's for taking the time to post their opinions and reviews about this place. Because of you, I now have another great food find etched in my memory bank.

Tin Roof BBQ catered our church 30 year anniversary lunch. I worked with Heather on the phone to set up the menu and pricing. She worked SO well with me and gave an amazing price! They were on time to set up and had everything in place by the time out service was out. The servers and help the brought were excellent. They served food quickly AND efficiently. They even went above and beyond and assisted me with setting up our dessert table, as well as bussing tables and picking up trash outside! The staff were all very pleasant, personable, and good natured. It was honestly my pleasure working with this fantastic company. I cannot say enough about how much they helped me during this very busy event. Their support was awesome! And the food. Delicious! People raved about their mashed potatoes and BBQ sauce. The chicken was moist and so flavorful. If you are considering putting together an event and need someone to work with - work with Tin Roof BBQ. You will not regret it. - B Quntanilla Calvary First Assembly of God Stockton Ca

I was going to give tin roof 3 based on it's the only choice for bbq in Lodi. The food is decent but over priced. Staff is nice but food can by dry sometimes and inconsistent.

Service was welcoming, efficient, and prompt. Atmosphere was inviting and clean. Got the pulled pork sandwich. The ingredients were fresh. The pork was tender and not fatty. This is personal preference, but I like my pork in a BBQ pulled pork sandwich slathered in sauce. I also like the buns toasted, preferably with butter. Ideally my sandwich would also have mayo, shredded lettuce, and tomatoes. Without these, my sandwich seemed a little bland. But, as I said, it was fresh, not fatty, we'll prepared. And the staff was great. I will go again and try a different sandwich or maybe see if I can "enhance" the pulled pork.
