I have been a customer for over 20 years. I always get the same thing...prime rib. It is my favorite dish. No one else's prime rib can compare! We always request the same server, Stacy too! She is amazing and always gets our order correct and makes our visits even more fun!

I was here for a private event, and it was good. Surprisingly, I didn't think they would close the entire restaurant, but they did. With that in mind, I would have thought the quality of the food would be A+. It was more of a C+-. We were offered a small menu, and I went with the 8 oz. sirloin, medium rare. They brought us all-u-can eat salad, but it was more family style and they never offered to bring out more. Same with the cowboy beans, which if I was not here for business, I would have got more. They brought out the entrees, and I was not the only one that had a medium rare steak that came out rare. But at that point, the presentation started, and I didn't want to get another steak. It was edible, but not easy to cut. It had a nice sear on the outside with grill marks and seasoned with probably salt and pepper. It seemed like a decent quality piece of meat, otherwise it would not have been edible for me to eat that rare. We also got choice of soft drink, and decaf coffee was offered after the meal with some cookies and brownies. Cattlemens is not a fancy steakhouse, you go with the cowboy theme and no frills atmosphere. But I was disappointed with my overall average experience.

This place was great! My HUGE steak was well worth the price. Our waitress was amazing too she was so sweet and attentive I don't remember her name but I would love to have her again. The only reason I gave a 4 star was because the girl who brought us our food had soooo much attitude it was ridiculous. Her name was Erin. I made sure to get her name. I hope she changes her attitude because other then that it was a great visit

I usually love this place but this time it was horrible service. Only giving it 2 stars for the food. We had reservations at 730 for a party of 12...well it ended up being a party of 6. We told them that and they didn't have a table available. We were not seated until 820!!! Almost an hour after our reservations. That is ridiculous! I understand that you can't tell people to leave but don't overbook! Once we were seated the waitress didn't even approach our table until 15 minutes after we were seated. It was a disappointment cause I love this place but I will not be coming back here after this experience.

This is the only place in town where I will buy a steak (except on my own BBQ of course!) They are always cooked as i order them, and they are tender & Juicy. We went there for the first time during the week (Thursday, 5/14/2015) all three of us had the special: 14 oz. NY steak with jumbo shrimp and a salad for $20.00. HIGHLY recommended....I had a baked potato as well and was stuffed. The jumbo shrimp in garlic butter was great, as was the steak of course. Much better than Black Angus!!

15 years loving the steak at Cattlemens, but probably never again. Would have been 5-stars, minus one very horrible experience and terrible service response from the manager. Thanksgiving 2014, having a typical family dinner 6 adults, 6 kids. We all ordered our typical steaks -- for me, the Cowboy Rib Eye which is usually mouth watering delicious. As usual, we get our bowl of salad to mix and share, and as we're enjoying, my brother-in-law spits something beige out of his mouth. Yup, it's what looks like a bloody bandaid. And yup, he was chewing it! If you really want to see it: i1112.photobucket.com/al… In all fairness, it looks stained by a purple beet, not blood, but who knows and at this point, who cares!? Ok, this by itself is horrible, but what comes next was totally unexpected. We called the manager over to tell him. He was stunned (as expected). Then he says he'll have to throw all the salad away at the restaurant b/c it's all pre-mixed together. He apologizes. My brother-in-law asks to see a medical exam of the "one guy" who mixes salad. The manager says, "ok, but why don't you call us next week?" Stall tactic. We've still never heard back from them, and don't really want to think about this more. At this point, everyone is staring in disgust at our food having eaten a salad that was mixed with a used bandaid. I ask the manager to clear all of our salads. Apparently, he's too good to do manual work because he stands there trying to call over a bus boy, then orders him to clear the salad while he walks away casually and talks to other tables.... all the while we still have salads on our table. We would have left by now, but our kids were starving and eating cooked food sounds better than a melt-down. The rest of the meal went ok. One of the steaks was severely overcooked -- just a bad experience which happens once in a while, but after this experience and mostly because of the way Cattlemen's reacted to this and didn't seem to care, I don't think I can stomach to go back. p.s. I'm writing this a little late b/c I meant to do it after the event, but then recently got reminded of it when I saw him again.

Prime rib was very good. Service at the bar was terrible. Very busy place so that shows the food is good. Wait was 45 min on a Sat night so I went to the bar.

Good!!! Food was amazing and the service from Kat who is the hostess and Ken the manager were incredibly courteous and helpful! Outstanding restaurant, with all together charming staff!!

Their daily specials are pretty good--Tuesdays you get a 20 oz T-bone steak, sides and all you can eat salad and fresh baked bread for $20. Minus one star for service. It's hit or miss, so far 50/50 with the service. Kids eat free if you buy their shirt ($9) until they are 11 or 12 years old with a paying adult, so long as they wear their shirt.

Came here for veterans day, big mistake. Can you say way, way, way under staffed! Sitting in the waiting room watching them seat parties of 2 and 4, while these old gentlemen who are clearly veterans sit around all night waiting for a steak. The bar is huge, but only one bar tender, good luck getting a drink. Talk about your lost revenue. Bottom line, steak is a steak, but the manager around here be glad he don't work for me. FIRE them asap!

We went to Cattleman's 5/29/15 - it took an hour to get our food. My husband got the prime rib which was brought in and placed on a sizzling platter. I ordered the rib eye which was tasty but barely warm. After waiting an hour, I would expect it to be hot. I didn't want to send it back and have to wait longer. My mother-in-law ordered the small lobster. She had to wait an extra long time as hers had been dropped on the floor in the kitchen as we were told. When the lobster did arrive, it was the large lobster, which we didn't realize until the bill arrived. The waitress did fix the bill for that error. Due to our long wait for our food, I decided to order a glass of wine; of course it arrived just after the steak. We arrived at 5:15 and the restaurant seemed somewhat busy, and about 3/4 full. It was 7 p.m. when our food arrived. Overall, we left very disappointed.

Service is SLOOOOOOOW. Bar is service is worse!! Our dinner arrived by the time our wine arrived. The reason: 'we're really busy in the bar,'. Really?!?!? To pull a bottle and uncork it?!?!? This isn't the first time we've been here and experienced this type of service. The dining room was not that busy to warrant this type of service. Will not be back.

This place is NOT celiac friendly. I called ahead and talked to them on the phone, they were nice told me they had gluten free options. I was careful when ordering. I got glutened. Celiac's beware! This is a dangerous place to eat. There's nothing worse than being told it's safe and then 20 mins later you find out it's not.

I only been here twice but this is my new favorite steakhouse. I enjoyed my meals here and haven't had a bad experience because the food makes up for the wait time! It is always alwayssssss packed though! Make sure you make a reservation or call in ahead! When they tell you the wait is going to be about 45 minutes to 1 hour, they are usually accurate. The staff are great with customer service regardless of the wait. +my dad ordered the Rib eye steak (medium) but it came out well done, so they insisted of making him another one or taking it off the bill. Since our whole time at the restaurant from waiting for a table to sitting down to eating was already 2.5 hours we decided to have it taken off the bill.

Where do I begin..I think this place is fantastic!! I've had the rib eye & portherhouse & prime rib..each & every time they were cooked to perfection. I also love their onion straws/rings their salads have always been very crisp & fresh.bread is good too..their beans that accompany the meals are fine; just not to my personal liking. We have also tried their prawns & they were great too. If you haven't been here; all their meals come with all you can eat bread salad & beans; & they don't hassle you if you ask for more with the intention of taking it with you. Service has always been on point & attentive. And their drinks are quite tasty! Good place to dine; I think you will enjoy it especially if you love beef.

This was my first time at any Cattlemens and I was pretty excited about finally getting to try one out. I'm not much of a carnivore, but I saved my appetite for dinner that evening. Bf has eaten at the Dixon Cattlemens many times after his snowboarding trips and says he remembers liking it. I thought the Livermore location should live up to they hype as well. Upon arriving to the restaurant, parking was quite scarce. It was just a few minutes before 6pm and the place was crowded with many already waiting for a table. The waitress gave us a pager and said it would be a 45 minute wait. It actually ended up being an hour wait and turned out to be a letdown. The decor is cheesy Western themed with wood interior, cowboy statues, saddles hanging off the rafters and such. You can also get the vibe that it's go big or go home. You can expect generous portions and big slabs of beef to satisfy the manliest men. When we finally got seated, we were in a booth next to two large parties. Our waiter, Tony, was rushing around accommodating the groups and several booths. He was clearly working hard and still made time to check on us. He was quick with taking our orders and bringing out the drinks, bread and salad right away. Each of the entrees come with sourdough bread, all you can eat salad, beans and your choice of rice, mash taters, baked tater or fries. I decided to go with the smallest steak on the menu which was the 8 oz. Sirloin ($15.99). Bf got a Beef and Reef Combo of the 8 oz. Sirloin with Alaska King Crab ($29.99). We both got the baked potato. After our steaks, potatoes and beans came out, our waiter comes by and says that they were actually out of the crab for 2 days. He was very apologetic bc he said the system usually doesn't let them put in the order if it's out, but it did. He didn't know they were out of crab and the manager didn't mention it to him. Another waitress had to inform him in front of our table. He asked if bf wanted to substitute something else instead. Bf decides with the grilled shrimp. We are almost finished with our meal when our waiter comes over to apologize that the kitchen didn't get the ticket to make the shrimp. He decides to comp us for the shrimp so that was nice of him. It did finally come out but towards the end of the meal. - Sourdough bread: Hot bread is always appreciated in my book. We were given a large round loaf. We were only able to finish half. - AYCE salad: Simple iceberg lettuce salad with cucumbers, grape tomatoes, red onions and croutons. There wasn't anything exciting about the salad but the croutons were my favorite. I couldn't stop eating them! - Baked beans: I'm not too crazy about baked beans so I only tried a spoonful. I thought it was standard. - 8 oz. Sirloin: Incredibly salty! Whoever was cooking the steaks had a very heavy hand with the salt. Bf also thought so as well. We both ordered medium but they came out medium well. We were a bit on a time crunch so didn't bother sending them back. - Baked potato: Too much salt on the skin! I actually like eating the skin but it was crusted with sea salt and just like licking a salt block. - Grilled shrimp: It came on a skewer with 5 large shrimp. Bf said it was fair but also on the salty side. Overall, this meal was off the charts on the sodium scale. Good thing neither of us has high blood pressure. I was also bummed that they overcooked our steaks. I'm pretty sure I can cook a better steak at home. The tab before tip came out to $34 and some change. Our waiter was very nice but food and management should be better. I don't think it's worth the long wait to eat here.

I have been a fan for Cattlemen's Steakhouse for years. The prime ribs, porterhouse and cowboy ribeye are my favorites. The flavoring are far superior to Black Angus, Outback or Tahoe Joe's. The ambience is appropriate as the Name indicate. It definitely is not pretending to be fancy. it is a down to earth, more than decent location for our favorite pieces of meat. As an assertive consumer, I have no problem asking for what I want. Only if there is a little more customer service training or attentiveness to the customer's need would cattlemen elevate to a higher level. I tend to eat at the bar to save time instead of having to wait 30-40 minutes for a table. The bar keep should periodically check with the dine in customers. Sometimes they can be too busy and ignore the dine ins inadvertently.

There was a time when my Husband and I were eating here once a week. We love the cozy booths they have so its more private for us. But sometimes it can be loud depending on what time you go, there can be a lot of kids. We love the food it's always consistent. Love the bread and salad that you get before your meal comes out. That's always a plus when we are really hungry. We like to get the Ribs there amazing.

Steak, lobster, loaded baked potato !? Who could Ask for more? If you want a good hardy dinner come here. If you don't have time to wait go some where else. Food is excellent. I gave it only 4 stars because some times the service is super slow...one time I made a to go order by phone and had to wait 45 minutes even after I came in to the restaurant. Service can be Slow, Food is Great

Daphne and I wanted to try something a little different today. We decided to take the family to Cattlemens for Easter Dinner. Not a mistake - no pun intended. We finally u stand why this place fills the parking lot, and then some. Very nice country atmosphere, great food and service, and access to the bar. A little pricey, but we are finding this to be the case at every restaurant in this area. But the food is definitely worth it. Personally, I recommend the prime rib, but Daphne said her sirloin was also top notch.

Came here for my first time and I was very disappointed. No hostess welcomed us and as we sat ourselves at the table there was still no greeting and we literally waited for 15 minutes for our orders to be taken and no water was served to us. Felt like a minority in the restaurant and each waitress that passed us said someone would be right with us and that never happened. No napkins or utensils provided and the au jus sandwich they of course would forget about the horseradish sauce and the appetizers cMe out same time as entree. Smh this place is a joke. Just good portion size and horrible customer service

My first time to Cattleman's in Livermore, and I will never go again!! The server was in training was good and friendly. I was having dinner with my son, rare these days, so it was special. I ordered a Soda Water w/ Lime in a martini glass. Not drinking in January as part of my 2015 resolution. The Manager refused the server to give it to me in a martini glass, Ugh!!! I'm in my 40's and not allowed to drink a soda water in a martini glass!! If I ordered a virgin daiquiri, it would be in a cocktail glass!! This was a simple request, and I nicely expressed my displeasure. They charged me $2.99+ for a soda water in a glass I didn't want! In addition, the wait for our food was at least 45 minutes for our entre', the shrimp scampi was so thick in butter, it was bad, the steak was rubbery, and the mashed potatoes were a big blob of thick potatoes, terrible! While leaving, I asked for a comment card. They didn't have them available, so I wrote on a blank piece of paper. The hostess got the manager. I told him about my resolution and it was a simple request, etc...I also told him that this is the ONLY restaurant that would not give me the glass I asked for! He gave me a lot of blah, blah, blah saying if he walked by (which he didn't) and he looks at the glasses people have, it shouldn't be in that type of glass. He was more concerned about sticking to his bogus policy, rather than making it a pleasant experience for a customer. They offered no compensation in any way to return after I told him I wouldn't be returning. The manager handled it poorly!!! Never again will I return to Cattleman's and I will discourage others!!!

This place is packed when we got here. They said the wait will be about 30 minutes, but really it took only 10-15 minutes before we got seated at our table......way cool! I love the western decor inside and out. They have a full bar and I'm surprise that kids are allowed there. But of course we didn't want our kids to be expose to that atmosphere, we stayed in the lobby area. Stacy was our server. She is wonderful and made us feel welcome and she didn't rush us with our orders. Love her attitude. Stacy's positive energy is really noticeable. I also like the fact that the assistant manager came by to see how we were doing. It shows that customer service is important to their management. It should be like that everywhere. Our order started with all you can eat Sourdough bread that was fresh out the oven and unlimited salad with our choice of dressings. Today we tried the New York Steak with Garlic fries, Prime Rib with mashed potato, Filet Mignon with Sweet potato, and the Sirloin steak with mashed potato.........all of which were very yummy and cooked to perfection.........(i'm very particular with my prime rib). We were also given some baked beans to go with our meal. Overall experience was great and I'm sure we will come back to try the dessert menu which we didn't get to try today because we were too full after the main course.

It's tough to find a steak house in the middle... meaning between a cheapie place like Outback and an upscale place like Forbes Mill. This is it. I finally found it. The middle of the road feel means you get a salad and a side when you order a meal. For 25 bucks? That works for me. The steak is cooked well, and it doesn't taste rubbery and microwaved. My husband is crazy about the bone in rib eye. Don't get me wrong it's not some giant thing with a tomahawk coming out of it- but it's a well made ribeye that's full of flavor and has a bone in it. I always get the prime rib which is always cooked perfectly, and comes out on a sizzling plate with fresh au jus. They also do prepared horseradish correctly- and there is a creamy option. We always get the stuffed mushrooms to start. They are different than other places, they aren't drenched in cheese. They aren't dry either- it's a nice blend of bread crumbs & cheese. The service is also fantastic. We always wait in the bar (and you can eat your entire meal here as well), and they are always fast and polite. I highly recommend this place for a good steak that isn't overpriced.

We came in here tonight looking for a good meal and that is EXACTLY WHAT WE GOT! (Actually 2 because we brought half home lol) We each had a 14oz rib eye , rustler potato, fresh bread, spinach artichoke dip, salad, a guiness, a cowboy lemonade, and 2 fried apple pies all for under $100. We did the call ahead seating so we got seated in 10mins during the friday night dinner rush. Big BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. Only a couple of reasons I didn't give it 5stars. #1 they set us between 2 tables with young kids who kicked the wall, screamed and misbehaved so the atmosphere was a lil rough. The other is that they dont have the potato soup on fridays only clam chowder. :(

I came here for a Christmas dinner and wow it was good. I went into the bar area and had a few coctails and the were nicely made. When we had dinner I was very impressed with everything that I ate. The steaks were all cooked to perfection. My only complaint and this is why I took a star away is the service is pretty subpar. At the bar I had to enjoy my drink with a few employees bitching about some Monday night party in the back room they had to work and our waitress disappeared for what seemed like days. When I went to restroom I saw her up front chit chatting with a few employees. She was very helpful and kind when she was there, but I don't like having to wait 20 minutes for our check because we cant find her.

The food was so delicious!! I highly recommend to get the sweet potato as a side they make this delicious walnut brown sugar butter that is so good. My piece of steak was cooked to perfection and it was a Saturday night so they were very busy. I highly recommend coming in trying to food for yourself will definitely return again

Their steaks are amazing. But the problem is I always want surf and turf. So I seek out Filet and Lobster tail. Last time I ordered that here, and the steak was remarkable. It did not need any seasoning. And I am drooling thinking about it. But the Lobster tail was a big miss. We also had to wait a long time to be seated, even though they were basically empty. If I ever need a great steak i'm coming back.

Hadn't been back for a long time because of last experience.... No much has changed.....I had the T-bone asked for medium, got half medium (near the bone), half medium well. Wifey had the Dakota chicken, way over done and dry... F-I-L had the rack of lamb... Beyond over done, sent it back... It came back way under done.... They were good enough to take it off our bill... It was extremely busy, but that is no excuse to hurry through getting bad meals out to the tables...still have a gift card left, so we will try once more this time on a week night... I guess....

This review is only on the fact that we have waited literally over an hour for our food while other tables have gotten their food. Our server said the manager was going around to tables apologizing but never came to ours. I had to personally ask for him to come only to have him say I don't know what's going on let me check. Then to come back to say sorry but not explain anything. After me asking what the hold up was his response that it was just a busy day when our server had a different story. They offered to buy us dessert but who would want to stay and wait any longer to do that?!?! I normally am a regular at this place but the lack of management knowledge is absurd and I won't be coming back for a while.

The other night we went for a birthday dinner with nine people Everyone's food was good and cook just the way they liked it very. The waitstaff was very efficient and friendly. This is the third dinner we have have there in the last three months. For a steakhouse with good prices this is our place to go One of the things we really liked was the way they arranged the tables so everyone could look at each other and carry on a conversation

I was very disappointed with our service. It was a special anniversary dinner for my husband and I while on vacation. The waitress had taken a long time to take our order which was ok, but then she did not bring my son's drink for over half an hour. Our food did not arrive for at least 50 minutes. My son's mac n cheese was very cold with no flavor. My husband and I's steaks were mediocre. The waitress took another 15 minutes to bring our bill which had four extra items on it that we did not order. She never apologized for our long wait. I think she was taking breaks because we hardly ever saw her. I will never come here again. The management never apologized to us either, even though I told them that our food was taking a very long time. She only said it was coming, You'd be better off going to another restaurant.

I was never a huge fan of steak. Whenever we are out,I was more of a chicken or burger kind of guy. NOT Juicer ANYMORE! This steak house changed my point of view on steaks for life! Juicey, melt in your mouth...I want another one just posting this. Sides were great and the steak sauce was excellent. And fir being a steakhouse, very affordable. My wife, son, and I, only paid about $59. Can't wait for the next time we go!

Our menu Appetizers; Artichoke dip, Potato wedges, sourdough bread, salad Entree; prime rib, filet mignon, tbone, top sirloin, rib eye, baby back ribs ( yeah there were a lot of us) fries and onion rings were good. Dessert: cheesecake Service was excellent even though it was really busy and waiter was very attentive. They give you big portions but food was just ok.... I was a lil sad maybe bc I had expected it to be better. Same feedback from the other members of my party. Glad to have tried it at least once though. Btw, our wait was an hour. Sat down about 9:30pm.

Yum Cattlemens. If you were to compare this place to Outback, Black Angus, or Lone Star, you have been missing out. If you've heard the saying "everything's bigger in Texas", you'd be right to think of this place as Claim Jumpers or Cheesecake factory portions on steroids. If you are still hungry after eating anything here, including appetizers or salad, than you need to go on a diet :). Just kidding, you are just enjoying your food way more than I am. When you first get to Cattlemens, expect about an average of an hour wait. If you are a vegetarian please slap yourself in the face, then eat the grass that a horse shieet on outside, because this is not the place for you. After starving an hour, I was ready to eat and with high expectations. A few members of my family ordered the fathers day special, which is basically half of the standard "dinner for two special" order. You will get a 3 course meal, appetizer, entree, and dessert, NOT COUNTING the side of potato, beans, and all-you-can-eat salad (Olive Garden style) that is already included with every order. I fancy myself a big eat, but even I know my limits. So I order the Cowboy steak and decided to mooch off of my bros, appetizer and dessert. The Appetizer (or appetite-destroyer) Cocktail Shrimp- Very good jumbo and delicious with great cocktail sauce and horse-radish. Onion strings... WOW... The best Onion Strings/ Rings I've ever had. Think of the Onion strings at Tony Roma's, yeah those onions and bbq sauce are sh*t by comparison. The BBQ sauce is excellent bold and bit sweet. SALAD. Fresh and crispy and cool. What else do you want me to say it's salad. The Entree My family all order 14 oz Prime ribs (an option with the special), however I went with Cowboy steak which is a 20oz with the bone, because you know how we do... The bone really wasn't big at all it was about 95% meat. The reason you get the bone! Do you like ribs? Yes. Do you like Rib eye? Yes. Well you get the best of both worlds when you get a cut of rib eye with meat on a bone. Unfortunately, boneless ribeye, some restaurants will cut your rib eye far away from the bone and closer to cheap not as taste pieces of meat. But either way Ribeye is always THE BEST STEAK for barbeque. Medium Rare! That's a no brainer. *The only con* Cattlemens uses a slightly salty rub. I'm more of an great meat with salt and pepper kind of steak lover, but this rub is still good, but usually I like when the meat does the talking and not the sauce or seasoning. (That sounded a bit dirrty). The dessert I'm not much of a cheesecake person so NEXT. Cheesecake is basically cream cheese which is like fat/butter in another form. If this floats your boat or your waistline, knock yourself out. The chocolate cake! I don't like candy or sweets, but if there's chocolate cake or ice cream cake count me in. (sorry no ice cream cake here) The cake is yumalicious. Although, I will give a slightly better award to Black Angus for the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup on top. I recommend going to trader joe's and you can create the same thing for a bit cheaper. I only recommend Cattlemens, because the sides, desserts and appetizers would make any woman fall to her knees, no pun intended. But the reason you go to Cattlemens or any bbq joint is for the steak and ribs. The rub is too salty. I'm not picky, but I hope you have a good drink to wash it down with... Expensive? Yes, but you may have enough left overs for lunch and dinner for the next day. The price is a bit high, but you will leave with a smile on your face and your stomach will thank you.

Great service. Great atmosphere. Yummy food and perfect portions! We were visiting family and our party of NINE happened to come here instead of Cheesecake Factory (an hour-hour and a half wait with four kids no thank you!) Let me tell you I am so glad we came to Cattlemans instead! Our server, Taylor, was AWESOME! I hope she believed us when we told her a million times :) We plan on finding one closer to where we live in Vacaville so we can buy our three kids shirts so they can eat free! Awesome!!

Food was great, but the service was even better. Short waits can be brutal with small children and we have two that were very hungry that night, but server in bar area got their order entered so it landed about same time we got to our table. Next server was also super courteous and right on top of all of our needs. We will be back often.

Cattlemens has been here for the longest and just the thought of writing this review is making my mouth melt again. One of my diva daughter ordered the Baby Back ribs which of course she intelligently didn't eat all of them so she can have left overs for the next day. The older Diva along with the accountant had the Filet Mignon and I had the Rack of Lamb!!! Omfg it was so damm good....... If my doctor saw how I've been eating he will probably kick my you know what!!! The service was great like always and yes I will come back. $$ ?? Who cares!!! Super Serg Gotz it!!!

simple- FOOD SUCKS! and let me explain why food 0/5-just bad. temp-lukewarm, no flavor, no seasoning, no sex in the mouth, no delicious food coma afterwards. service 0/5-hostesses can not provide accurate time, annoying/bad waitress hostesses kinda knew what they were doing. was told 30minute wait time and that a party of 6 could be seated immediately. Walked out to make a phone call to let some friends know and came back in and was told it would be 25minutes for party of 2. Went to 7/11 and got stoges, went to the car, got 2 drinks from the bar (waited for seating) and smoked some cigs, asked about the wait time, met with friends and smoked another stoge till we were called in...WAY longer than 25 minutes. How about you tell the customer ACCURATE wait time! the parking lot was packed so I expected a long wait time. DUH. The 3 or 4 other hostesses looked unorganized possibly giving away or taking tables that were not assigned to them. Got seated next to the kitchen entrance. WOOPIE! get to hear workers in and out and lots of foot traffic. Our waiter was pushy practically begging and goading us to buy drinks because "it was friday" "its your birthday" or "kick off some steam" ect...one statement is enough...the same happened at the bar where the bartender was trying to get us to buy apps...This should have been a BIG RED FLAG! Places that have to activly try to push apps, extras, specials probably not doing well compared to other stores, franchise standards ect. I don't think in a million years I would come to Cattlemens to go to their bar. People come here for the food right? unless...oh wait...don't even get me started people and this establishment just a JOKE! Aside from the long wait time the service SUCKED! Food took forever to arrive and when it did it SUCKED! im paying 25/30 for a meal here and all they can do is bring out a steak that requires way too much cutting and has 0 FLAVOR! Wheres the meat taste? Wheres the delicious red meat flavoring? Wheres the PAIN to not finish my food knowing it will be a waste unless eaten NOW! The "char" marks might have well be painted on. I had to salt the bastard and sauce it up. BAD BAD BAD! I NEVER in my LIFE have EVER HAD TO DO SUCH A THING AND THE SAUCE IS SOO GROSS!!!I I can do better at home with the stove top. It's my birthday so im not going to ruin the troops fun. Cooked them the same cuts they ordered on Sunday and they all said it was better hands down...SAD! Sad sad. Waitress came by once to give us our food, once to check up on us, once to try to solicit desserts. Her partner in crime also sucked. How do you order the "sizzle plate" and NOT BRING THE "sizzle plate" soo...we all sitting there getting our food while the last person has to WAIT for his food. How about you just SERVCE us the food we ordered without saying what we ordered and having us raise our hands as if we are in kindergarten. I start eating and am several cuts and bites in before the "sizzle plate" is brought out... Cowboy Steak A thick and juicy 20 oz. bone-in rib eye steak 25.99 NO Cowboy Steak A thick and useless piece of meat with no flavor! Your cook sucks! its either that your your equipment. Here is a fine institution that should burn down with flames. sad to say outback has you beat and their food is just ok

I came here for the 3rd time in 5 years, so please take my review with a grain of salt. -- I have tried the herb&Garlic crusted lamb chops the first time at the Folsom branch a long time ago, it was so delicious the name "Cattlemen's" stuck. -- This past weekend I went there with some friends, I had the 24 oz. T-bone ($25.99). However, I guess i should have know that the T-bone has 2 sides really, New York steak and Fillet Mignon side.. the FM side is really small on this slice, however, that's out of customer's control, so be it... the meat was juicy and tender. I asked for Medium Rare, and it could be a bit more pinkish but I am fine with the steak after all.. =) -- the endless salad is your simple 5 ingredient salad: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, coutons... + 5 varieties of dressing... satisfying but not worth the $5.99 if you were to split a steak order with someone (the waitress did not tell us that, despite the fact that we specifically asked about the split charge).. -- the bread was warm and crusty just the way I like them, and the baked potato is good, (how can anything go wrong with baked potato?) -- unfortunately too stuffed and thus no room for dessert, but the pieces looks quite large, not sure about the taste though. -- next time I come here, I will try the herb crusted lamb + boneless ribeye or Fillet Mignon here...

Came here for the first time and I was really excited because I haven't eaten cattlemens food in a while since the Newark location closed. Started off the night by getting a drink at the bar, and boy those bartenders were not so friendly. There were two ladies workin behind the bar and both of them were not nice at all. =( I ordered the legendary margarita, it was good, got me buzzed, and i got to keep the shaker. Yaay! We moved to a regular table and got served by an old friend so that made the night better. The food was delicious as always. LOVEEE the artichoke dip. Oh how i've missed it! It's so yummy! Ordered the rib-eye steak and that was delicious as well. Yes it's expensive (I spent about $50 for myself for a drink, appetizer, and entree).. but that's expected. I can't help but compare it to the old Newark location. Yea, I'm kinda biased with my review but trust me the service at the Livermore location just doesn't compare to the Newark location. =( -2 stars for that.

Terrible. We waited for 15 mins to get our server to come to our table. They didn't even offer us drinks while waiting for her. The place wasn't even busy! It's our first time and will be our last. Texas Roadhouse is highly recommended and it's only 2 - 3 miles away.

Went here with my cousins to celebrate me finding a new job. Yay! I was in the mood for steak and potatoes and I heard this place has the best steak in town. To start off, we were served with warm bread and butter, a bowl of fresh salad with our own choice of dressing. I ordered the 14oz New York Strip, my cousin had Pete's Special and her bf had the Cowboy Ribeye. I prefer my meat to be very well-done and completely killed ;p Yes, I know... I usually get the "why would you ruin your steak?!" comment. Anyhow, I decided to live a little tonight and ordered medium-well. *gasps* ;) I requested to have my steak just a little pink in the middle and it came out just like what I ordered. It was soooooo good, juicy and tender. I also had a bite of my cousin's steak (medium-rare) and it was very good too -- although, I had to close my eyes because I didn't want to see the blood. Service was excellent. My cousin jokingly told the waitress that it was my birthday, so I played along with the joke. She brought me free vanilla ice cream and a COWGIRL HAT!! Yee-Haw! That made my night :) Try their cheesecake with strawberry and fudge topping -- delish! Cattlemen's definitely has the best steak in town!

Food is always good. Have eaten here many times, never a bad meal. This last time we had really great service too. Will keep going to this place, even though the closest one to us is about 40 miles from our house. Too bad we lost the one in Fremont.

Always a reliable go to local restaurant. Friendly staff, good meals but on occasion there is a pretty good wait for a table. Best bet is to wait for a table in the bar area (no reservation required there). Ribs are good and one of the best items on the menu.

Did the dinner for two, it's around 60 bucks. Not to shabby. Apps, entree and dessert. The waiter was very friendly but he was a bit sluggish on the service. Took quite a while to bring us our food. I got the rib eye which I ordered medium but it came medium rare. Had to send it back then it came back with out the onions on it. Ordered the side of mushrooms, very tiny amount. The steak was good so was the artichoke cheese dip. The fresh baked cookie with ice cream is epic. All and all I would say this place is very comparable with black angus. I enjoyed it and will probably be back.

Great atmosphere with very good food. Vegetarian items on the menu. Wait staff was awesome and very friendly. Recommend this place for casual dining and good fun environment. I prefer dining at the bar area more of an adult culture.

It was a good thing I use to date my then girlfriend now wife in Tracy. Or else, I may of never of know about this place nestled in Livermore. Once upon a time there was a Cattleman's in Newark, until the big bad economy made them, close there doors. I was very skeptical in coming to a different Cattleman's since the only one I have ever been to was in Newark. What I found here was the same, old western frontier environment, and the OK corral themed atmosphere. When the doors open you get hit with that savory, smoky, and inviting welcome smell that only Cattleman's can produce. Hospitality was taught well amongst the Cattleman's clan. No hesitation on greeting my fat ass. I was hungry and they knew it. Quick to seat me, quick to offer me a drink and quick to take my order. This is why I wanted to cry when I read in another review when they bulldozed the Newark one. Were in God's name will someone be this friendly when it come's to my meat eating needs. This is no Black Angus, or Texas Roadhouse gig. This is "Authentic" only thing missing is the horses. On to the meal, I always get Pete's special cause I'm a cheap bastard and like the free drink. But I'll occasionally order a London or a New Yorker. My wife usually have what I'm having but It ends being my late night snack. Bread and Butter are always served fresh and hot, this is standard people. Then the Bean Girl, god bless her soul... Always tempts me with her slowed cooked, and smoky flavored with a hint of brown sugar beans. I've been on 2 combat tours as a US Marine, I'm letting you know right now. If i was being interrogated she make me talk with those beans. The steaks are cooked to your specific preference and desire. The steaks are aged as well which give that awesome robust juicy flavor. The side they offer are like any steak house nothing to special. There was a slight wait but I sold my soul to the bean girl for 10 more minutes to subside my hunger. Well after our meal, they were quick to pick up the empty plates and offer to go trays for the uneaten portions. Then the waitress brought us some what I thought was free dessert but it was a display but I guess I'm that fat I thought it was real. Unfortunately I couldn't eat another bite the food was too good and the portions where that big! The price for this place is definitely worth the burn hole in the pocket. I must say, I am Impressed. Newark is gone but it's legacy lives in this Cattleman's. I drive all the way from Yucca Valley, CA to the bay area to visit family. I have seen another Cattleman's off the 58 in Tehachipi, CA. But I never stopped by there. I should. Well Cattleman's you are the many reason's why I'm proud to say I serve my country. No where else in the world will you get such an awesome steak house for a great value. I salute you!

They have weekday specials now. Just don't go here if you have a later pressing engagement. It's slow. But I love all the bread and salad. And the steak is like that kissing gesture that chef's do.

My hubby's favorite ( and mine!) place for a good steak! It is MUST to upgrade to the twice baked potato - the garlic and cheese is the most amazing mix of creamy goodness in your mouth! Customer service is very good. The cook's generally cook your meat right. Whenever we order medium or medium-well , it's right!! Everytime we visit, we order about 6 twice-baked potatoes to-go to have for later. We come from Stockton to eat here and it's worth the drive!

Food was fine. Cattlmen's standard fare. Consistent. Nothing outta your mind/off the hook; you know what you're getting into in a chain. Prime rib was beautiful and nearly fat free; the hubs' rib-eye looked very nice and he was happy because it was super rare the way he likes; son's burger was a piece of art (onion strings even better). My steak salad was probably the most lackluster but I kinda knew if I went all healthy and alfalfa-like in a steak joint I'd *live* and also live to regret it. No problem. But this part you should know -- apparently there's not much to do on Saturday night in this geography because EVERYONE was there. Can't hear yourself think in the bar, restaurant super crowded. Wait is 2 hours. Oh, and they all had birthdays last night. Non-stop hee-haw, happy birthday goin' on. So -- we made a reservation which they accepted even for our small party (we were four) just 3 hours before the time we wanted to be there. They still gave us the little light up & vibrate transponder but our wait was only about 20 minutes. One of the few times ever I got to be the envy of those around me. It was very cool (sorry, to digress with my emotional issues). If you're dying for a Cattlemen's experience -- for us it's a great "meet in the middle" spot for our East Bay/Peninsula/580 corridor rendezvous with friends and fam -- make a reservation. You'll be much happier. And bring a good mood. You'll be singing "Happy Birthday" a lot.

The day i died a little was the day the Newark Cattlemans closed. i love this place. i drive out here with my friend whenever i want to treat myself a little. The manager for here told us once that cattlemans actually owns the building in Newark, so they might reopen one day if they change plans... That made me hopeful... Until I saw them bulldozing it a few weeks ago :( I LOVE their Bread & butter. Order their Garlic bread with no blu and it usually comes with a side of ranch. YUM! sometimes i use the thousand island dressing that came with my salad to dip the bread into. only thing i suggest is asking for NO onions on your salad. For some reason the onions here reak. Western rose smoothie is great! They have a VERY thick, HUGE and juicy burger, but it's always a bit too over salted. It's literally huge! Could easily feed two people. I'm kind of disappointed that they don't have any strawberry lemonade... Everyone should have strawberry lemonade. Another favorite is their 18 oz Prime Rib which is also huge. Sometimes we come and just split that between two people and with that, the baked potato side, house beans which taste like good chili, salads and an order of their garlic bread... You have a very filling meal for two hungry people. I dislike how their garlic bread comes with blu cheese though, so we always order it without blu and it's perfect! Oh, they also have hot wings which are actually called something like beefy wings or whatever.. Sounded like there was a twist to these wings and the description is vague. We asked our waiter if they were basic wings or if they had some sort of BBQ sauce concoction, but he didn't really know much about them and said that he thinks that they're just regular wings.. Turns out that the wings DO contain BBQ sauce. Not really a good combo if you ask me.

first off, am i the only one that is annoyed that this place is called cattlemens and not cattleman's or cattlemen's? the service here FAR outweighed the food at this restaurant. our very cute waiter aaron and the chipper bar waitress ashley particular stand out as top-notch in service. the food however, was definitely subpar for the items we ordered. 1. southwest egg rolls - thank goodness the chipotle ranch sauce was excellent because i needed a lot of it to balance out the super dry inside of the egg roll. i will commend them on the fact that the ingredients used for the inside were surprisingly fresh. the beans and corn kernels were firm and didn't seem like they came from a can. if they did come from a can, i was definitely fooled. the skin was very crispy but far too thick especially considering how it was wrapped at the ends. 2. all you can eat salad - pretty decent for free salad. no wilted lettuce, a good amount of grape tomatoes and crunch slices of cucumber. i also like that each person gets their own container of dressing on the side. the show stopper here were their croutons -- super crunchy, not over toasted, and some were made from focaccia bread! 3. all you can eat bread - came out warm with a fabulously crunchy crust and soft, doughy inside. i like that it wasn't on the super sour side as sourdough bread often is. 4. ribeye with garlic fries - the grill marks on the meat did look nice, but the actually ribeye was BAD... thank god there were garlic fries on that plate to save the day. my friend ordered the steak medium (i'd have wanted medium rare). it came out more like medium well and the cut of meat was just sooooooooo dry and not even close to being marbled fat the way a nice piece of ribeye should. the fries however were well seasoned, crisp, and abundant. 5. pork chop with pecan butter sweet potato - this was a new item, and i can't remember what sauce they had put on it, but it was far too salty for my taste. so i ended up scraping all the sauce off and just eating the chop. i asked for medium and it came out pretty close to medium. the chop was a tad on the lean side for my taste. it did have a lot of fat, but all in one glob on the side of the chop. there was one clove of roasted that was delicious and had me wishing for more. the pecan butter sweet potato was only okay. i would have liked it with some brown sugar or cooked to where it was a bit more caramelized inside. 6. deep fried apple pie - i will say that i appreciate that our dessert was definitely freshly fried. the outside did have a nice crunch, but despite the thin dough, it still tasted a bit mushy and doughy on the inner side. the filling was very good for me because the apple sauce inside had nice chunks of semi-firm apples and was not overly sweet. the two scoops of vanilla ice cream and whipped cream that came with were nothing special. they tasted like generic safeway ice cream... actually, slightly more icy and not as good as safeway vanilla. i'm told that they are known for their prime rib, so perhaps i'd have had a better experience if that was what i'd ordered. but based on the food i had, i likely wouldn't eat there again unless it was a special request by my dining partner or for a friend's party.

Cattlemen's Livermore, you have disappointed me one too many times. I have been going to this place 3-4 times a month for several years now. I always get the rib eye, medium rare. Sometimes it's overcooked. It should NEVER be overcooked. If I'm spending $25 for a steak it better be perfect. Server accuracy and quality is hit or miss. Sometimes you get a great server that gets everything right. The next time you get a server that forgets everything. Today was the last straw. My rib eye wasn't a rib eye at all. It was overcooked, tough, and very lean. I've never eaten a rib eye like this one--because it wasn't. They brought me a New York Strip. The cook even put the tumbleweed onions on top (exclusive to the rib eyes). He probably realized his mistake too late, and thought that i wouldn't notice. Well, I noticed. The quality of this place has really gone downhill this year, and quick. Everything was great in the years prior. Bad management? Who knows. I'm done with this place. $30 for meal that's too often sub-par is unacceptable.

I love getting food here. Good Steak and Menu. You will be stuffed eating here so it's best to come here starving. Only negative thing I have to say it that they only serve Guinness in a bottle. Not on Tap. Uhhhhh It's not the same. Not everyone one likes yank beer.

A little pricey. I gave it two stars for price, otherwise it would have received three stars. However large portions were served. The beef chicken wings or whatever they call them were fantastic. The bread was bleh and the tri-tip was not up to par. My friend had the ribs and said they were good. What restaurant in America does not have a vinaigrette?? That is correct. No vinaigrette for the salad. Weird. I would go back to try again but only since the company is paying.

O boy! Where to start? I am Indian, never ate a stake in my entire life. My best friend and I were driving back from Tahoe and saw this stake house. He suggested me to go with him and order some other meat. However, he ordered Pete's special stake and I tried a slice from his stake and the meat just melted in my mouth. I don't know how can any one live without trying their stake and I will go there again someday and order an entire stake for myself. :) (+ Staff is super awesome and they were really happy that I ate my first slice of stake for the first time in their restaurant).

I don't know how many times we've driven by this place and thought we should try it, but never did! I just thought of it as some chain place like sizzler, boy was I wrong! This place serves up Harris Ranch beef, aka that oasis in the middle of Coalinga on I-5. I got their prime rib, and I love how they bring it out sizzling. Their mashed potatoes were pretty good too. I love how there is bottomless salad, and yummy warm sourdough, everything inclusive of the meal. Seriously who needs those higher end spots? My favorite steak place in the East Bay is now Cattlemen's.

We have gone to this steakhouse for 3-4 times. Each time is about the same. The steaks are okay and the prices are a little on the high side. Depending on when you go, the wait is reasonable. The weekend is a lot better than the weekend. At least the waiting area is large. Their unlimited salad that comes with the salad is pretty great and the bread is pretty good. The one thing that brings this place down is the services. Each time we are there the waiters/waitresses are really friend. However, it takes a really long time to be served, for the food to come out, and then to get the check. We do not think it is the waiters/waitresses' fault though. We feel this place is generally under-staff and do not have enough servers, bustboys, etc. It feels like the servers have to do everything from taking the order, bringing the drinks and then the food, and then bust the tables. We would return more often to this place if their wait time was better.

I've been to Livermore a bunch of times and stayed right across the freeway, but I never ate here before this. It's walkable from the hotel, so I might come back and try something else. I'm going to be kind of clinical here, but I thought the service was good, the food mediocre and the price was not bad. I had wings and I didn't like how they were prepared. All-in-all, the experience was OK.

Cattlemens is a Western steakhouse with wooden "stall" booths and sawdust-covered floors (it is definitely a casual restaurant). Knowing that cowboys know their meat and barbecues, I had been intrigued by the chain for years. After our first visit, my wife and I considered it our go-to steakhouse for overall quality and value in the Bay Area. Their meats were always top quality and very well-prepared. For the price, their steaks are among the best I have had anywhere, including well-known, fine dining steakhouses such as Lawry's and Morton's. Their "Dinner For Two" at $57 is an excellent deal for an appetizer, two entrees (including 6 oz. filet mignon), and two desserts. Their Motherlode Burger is my personal #4 BURGER IN THE WORLD behind Burger Bar's Kobe beef burger (#1; Las Vegas, NV & San Francisco, CA), 25 Degrees' selection of ground sirloin burgers (#2; Hollywood, CA, Huntington Beach, CA & Chicago, IL), and Morton's ground prime rib burger (#3; worldwide chain). We have never had problems with service or the preparation of our orders. Service has always been prompt, pleasant, and attentive without being intrusive or overbearing. The portions are Texas-sized (HUGE as in HUUUGE). If you live in Northern California, this is the best value for the quality of this type of cuisine.

Service is great, customer oriented, but the food is less than stellar. When I order a medium rare ribeye I expected it to be juicy and almost melt in my mouth...like that of Claimjumpers...I spent more time trying to cut through the meat and chewing it that I couldn't even enjoy it...not that I could because it was way too salty to tolerate that I went through 4 glasses of water and only made it half way through a 14oz steak, and mind you I've finished (barely) the 24oz ribeye at Claimjumpers. My tastes seem to vary from other ethnic groups but I am a BBQ connoisseur so I expect meat to be prepared a certain way...and btw A1 sauce is a disgrace to meat...I cannot stand when people molest their steaks with it...HORRIBLE crime against nature

Salad for two came in a lightweight stainless bowl. The kind of bowl you get for $1.23 at Target. Accompanied by two gravy boats filled with blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese was very sweet, like they added a tablespoon of sugar. "Rustler" potato consists of a potato skin, filled with reconstituted potato/cheese/and about a tablespoon of salt. Good for two bites. Not three. Beans tasted like canned "Texas Ranch Style Beans" in grocery store but with a good tablespoon of salt and tomato paste. The salt was so strong, my tongue went numb for a few seconds after tasting. Mashed potatoes were thick. Heavy. Salty. Very salty. Dense and gummy. Fries had the glaze that burger king sticks on theirs to hide the fact that they stink. Three stars?!!!!! My nearly 1 pound ribeye was $20, and it was the second best ribeye I have had in a restaurant. The first being Carnevino in Battali's Vegas. I won't tell you what I spent in Vegas, but it WAS worth it. Still, against the locals, this place has the best meat. Just order a-la-carte meat if you can, and you won't go wrong. Everything other than their meat stinks.

I found a 16 inch hair in the salad. The server just tossed the hair on the floor and didn't offer a new salad. The manager was shocked but never offer a salad or a refund/discount.

Best Steak in town, for sure. I love prime rib, and this place does it right. The twice baked potato is good too. The reason why I didn't give this place five stars is that it is a little pricey and there are some better steak houses, such as Ruth Chris. All around a great restaurant though. I'll be going there for my next birthday.

We have gone to this Cattlemens three times now and we won't be back. First time, long wait, cold food, bad service. Second time, long wait, good food and service, Yay! Third time, long wait, food was not as ordered, bad service. When brought to managers attention, she said she would redo, but we had already been waiting an hour for our food, no thanks ! Didn't see waitress again till we asked for the bill. She did offer us a free dessert, again no thanks, turned a celebration dinner into a total bummer.

We decided to try this place out for dinner, as we have dined out at this restraunt a few times before. We arrived at 5:30pm and asked the host what the wait time was, she said 45 minutes. well odviously that was not the case as were not seated until past 8:45pm. The host was exceedingly rude brushing us off like she wished to be elsewhere. Many people who also had been waiting were quite irritated as well. When we finally were seated our server could tell we were very upset and brought the manager over, who gave us free appetizers for that REDICILOUS wait. That is the only reason for the second star, because if you say 45 minutes that does not equal over TWO HOURS! All in all VERY VERY DISSAPOINTED AND RECOMMEND FOR YOUR SAKE OF TIME TO EAT ELSEWHERE!!!

This is my absolute favorite steakhouse/rib joint ever!! I even celebrate my birthday there almost every year. I love the atmosphere! The service is usually awesome. I love the food. Everything I've ever ordered has been top notch! You have to upgrade to a twice baked potato! If you like beef ribs, this is your place. Also, they know how to cook a steak to how you ordered it. That's big. It a bit of a drive for me but, I might just go there tomorrow night!

Came for dinner got the dinner for 2 special (59.99) after bread, drinks, salad and appetizer we We were stuffed. We ended up getting our dinner to go. Food was great and hot waitress was nice. Only not so good thing. Hostess in front were not very helpful very gossipy among themselves and the floor of the restaurant was DIRTY. Restaurant needs a facelift to me but other than that food was good and we had a good time.

Wow where do I start! I guess with our server. She ( Shiree) was so good if the food was bad it would have been ok cause she made it so much fun to be there. She was an up person with ideas for what we liked and was always there to make sure everything was good ! Our food was outstanding and the drinks were so good too, only could have one as we had to drive :( Then at the end Aaron came to our table and made sure we were ok and oh my gosh the service he gave his table next to us was just as good as Shiree ( Well she was a little better ahhah ) I can't wait to come back and have them wait on us again. Thanks for making us feel like we were special. I do have to say I asked them if everyone was this great and they said YES its a fun dinner house to work at. Way to go Cattleman's

We've driven by this place a thousand times. Since it was Valentine's Day and since I bought this really cool buckle from Baughman's, I wanted to come here. Saturday night. Valentine's Day. I figured, with the great depression of aught nine, we shouldn't have a problem. Wrong. We walked in and were told there was a two hour wait but we could wait in the bar. No problem. Two hours in a bar? In some parallel universe, this is an unspeakable to hell. To me, game on. We had some huge ass beers (26 oz, $5 and change...not bad) and some stuffed mushrooms. The table was ready in about an hour. The menu isn't huge but whatever you want at a real steakhouse is on it. No Mortonesque games with blue saran wrapped beef dragged out on a wimpy cart for inspection. Just a menu for those of us who have seen a steak before. Long story short, except for some rank Italian dressing, great salad, fabulous steak, lobster tail, prime rib, baked potatoes around, wine, beer, hefty tip...$85 out the door for two. Fancy? No. Just good to great food, friendly service and me eating steak and lobster in jeans. A fifth star would be so possible if they'd just have a better bottle of wine or two on the menu and upgrade the Italian dressing. I'll be back~

My wife took me here for Fathers Day, having not been to a Cattleman's in quite sometime I had an expectation in mind and it was far exceeded. Food was excellent! We both got prime rib, it was cooked to perfection and a great proportion for the price! As part of being there for Fathers Day they gave me a card for a free return meal, awesome added value and my wife and I returned a few days later! Very happy with the service and quality and will be returning!!

Forth place I have revisited on my "negatively reviewed" tour: Received a coupon in the mail for a BOGO dinner. {I stole the BOGO abv. from a friend :-) } We ordered our prime rib dinners and mentioned the coupon at time of ordering. Salads were excellent. Nice Blue Cheese dressing. That was the end of the pleasantness of the meal however. When the plates arrived I was shocked to see the size of the cuts. They were supposed to be 13 oz. I'm guessing my wife's was 10 and mine 8. Having worked in a steakhouse, I'm a pretty good judge of portions. And the fact that mine was smaller when they were supposed to be same. Come on!! Did the fact that we have a coupon lead the kitchen to cut a smaller than ordered portion?? I asked the manager and he assured me they were both 13 oz cuts. Bull Bleep! I was so offended that we just left. I was hoping to having my mind changed at Livermore's one true steakhouse. Unfortunately it was not...

I always love coming here! My fiance` and I had dinner here once again a couple of nights ago, and I ordered the Ribeye, and grilled shrimp. What I like about this place, is that you can combine your own surf and turf, unlike Black Angus. I was definitely glad about not getting stuck with a Prime Rib, or just some plain sirloin with my choice of lobster tail, or shrimp. I wanted my Ribeye! Don't get me wrong, the Prime Rib here is scrujmptuous, but I was in my Ribeye mood, and it satisfied my craving for the evening. We had the stuffed mushrooms, that came in 5 pieces, and they were the bigger mushroom tops, and it's just sooo good! Also, the all-you-can-eat salad is included with the dinner, so that was definitely filling. My fiance` ordered the Motherlode Burger, and it was gigantic, about $13.95, and it was well worth it! I was satisfied with my dinner, and also took home a slice of their chocolate cake as a midnight snack =) We had Brandon as a server, and he wasn't as attentive as I hoped he would be. He didn't check on us for almost 15 minutes at one time, but I wasn't going to make a big deal out of it, because we were just relaxing, and just chatting. My only other complaint about the food was the side of green beans with bacon that I had, since they discontinued the asparagus. It had a little rusty taste to it, that I couldn't forget. Especially the after taste, which I talked to their manager, Nancy, about when she came to the table. Overall, I was incredibly happy being there, and will definitely like to come back. Wish they were open for lunch, but they are only open for dinner. =(

Went here with my family celebrating my parents 25th anniversary. Food was great !! We had a great waiter who did everything she could to make this celebration even more memorable ! At the end of our dinner they came and sang and gave my parents glasses of wine with the cattlemens logo I thought that was a nice little detail. Def. recommend this place! I'll be back soon :)

Their Ribeye steaks are cooked perfectly to order. I like that very much. My son can order a rare steak and I can have my med rare. The service was very cheery and attentive. The only downside is the amount of salt that is used with all of their sauces, and side dishes. I ordered whisky peppercorn sauce as a complement to my ribeye, and after one taste I had to forgo it. It was like eating a spoonful of salt. The twice cooked potatoes also had too much salt. I left it on the plate: doesn't the chef test taste what they are cooking? Everything else is delicious and fresh.

So I went there again with an open mind. I love prime rib but since my last experience was so bad I went with the T-Bone cooked Medium. The server told me that their medium is closer to medium rare. The guy next to me always gets prime rib. My T-bone was unevenly cooked. One side was perfect and the other was closer to rare. I like just salt and pepper on my beef so I can taste the meat. The flavor was just OK. My buddy that got the prime rib was disappointed too. We got the asparagus and it actually had a better flavor than the meat! I'm a beef guy. I own beef cattle, my freezer always has beef and I love red meat! I'll only go to Cattleman's if someone else is buying! If you want a GREAT cut of prime rib...go to the Castlerock in Livermore. Probably in the top 3 prime rib meals I've ever had.

My experience of Cattlemen's is very slim, but I have a good time every time I go. They do what they do, and they do it well. As part of a large birthday gathering, the waitress did a very good job, and enlisted help when needed. I didn't hear any complaints about food, and the people seemed very satisfied with themselves. A friend and did a 2-person meal offer, with choice of appetizer, entree and dessert from a pre-set list. Our appetizer was the artichoke cheese dip. It's not turning the world on with its smile, but it's certainly taking a nothing day and suddenly making it all seem worthwhile. My entree was the 6-oz petite cut filet mignon, which I topped with blue cheese crumbles. It was great, as well as the baked potato I enjoyed. Coming with all of this is warm bread, soft butter and all-you-can-eat salad. But, you have to be careful not to fill up on all that so that room is saved for the entree! I was too full for dessert, so I took a slice of chocolate outlaw cake to-go. As a matter of fact, I just took a few bites of it last night (went to eat on Tuesday), and it was just rich enough and chocolatey enough to satisfy without overwhelming me. It should last me for several days. I'm nibbling it while watching DVDs of "Deadwood." It's all part of my Western theming. I love that show, but you have to relish the constant barrage of "f" bombs, which I do. I'm at the tail-end of Season 2, with the first disc of Season 3 just waiting in the wings.

I've never had a bad experience here. Love the ribeye, the portions are big enough to share. Best place to get beef ribs, if you come Monday and eat in the bar,the beef ribs are $1 each.

Yes, I've finally been to Cattlemen's. Feels real good, I might add. You all might think it's a bit weird to feel a sense of accomplishment by eating here, but I've really always wanted to go try it out after years of driving by its signs off of the 80 and 580 freeways; I just never done it. "Looks like a real legit cowboy steak house" was what I always told myself. Well, the opportunity finally arose and I snapped at it and found myself in a whole other world. It was everything I always expected it to be. A little bit of kitsch mixed with a lot of food and cowboy sized portions and you've got a recipe for a good experience. We split their massive 2lb porterhouse and it was good. We were lucky that our party members recommended us going for medium, as they have an apparent tendency to undercook. Our steak came out just around medium rare--very nice. Not the best steak I'd ever had, but certainly one worth devouring in its entirety! The mashed taters that it came with were a bit on the pasty side, but decent. The extra side Mac 'n Cheese was a good addition, and their garlic fries were pretty good. I'd stay away from those stuffed mushrooms appetizer next time around though, they didn't really taste like mushrooms or any of the other ingredients inside of the mushroom. Quite bizarre. The other folks at our table also had a porterhouse and the chopper. I tried a bit of the chopper and it was pretty good. Can't say I've ever had anything like it other than a high quality hamburger steak. Still, a very different beast. In the end the portions for everything were huge, and we were all stuffed to the brim with some leftovers for home. The prices were pretty good for what we got. The service was friendly, our waiter was good and checked in often. He had a bit of spunk that wasn't annoying or contrived. The seats were a bit uncomfortable--think wood benches and backboard with only a small bit of cushioning. After an hour you get to feelin' a bit numb in your hind quarters. Whatever, it's a cowboy joint. Set your expectations accordingly and you'll feel good you came in.

Excellent service, food always comes out in a timely fashion, and I always take home dinner for two nights off of one meal. While it might be a little pricey depending on what you get, it's money well spent. You don't feel skimped on anything.

I've been to many high end steak houses and the steaks from Cattlemens are on par or better than their much pricier counterparts. Besides the steaks, the bread is fantastic, the salad is nothing special, and the service was excellent. This is a great bang for your buck steakhouse.

I've lived in the Tri-Valley for damn near my whole life and last night was my first time eating at Cattlemens. I've always heard the food (especially the beef) was good, however I've just never made an effort to try it. Last night I was craving some prime rib and my wife was in a mood for some baby back ribs. We decided to give Cattlemens a shot and I was surprisingly happy with the food. I ended up getting a 13 ounce, medium rare prime rib with a side of mashed potatoes, aus ju and a whiskey peppercorn sauce on the side. The prime rib was cooked just perfectly and had great flavor. The aus ju definitely tasted as if had been made in house and wasn't just a package powder and some water. I was not too fond of the whiskey peppercorn sauce, but I have never been too into that kind of sauce. I think I ordered it in hopes this would change, but it didn't. I tried the baby rack ribs my wife ordered and they filled my criteria to a great baby back rib. They were flavored just right. Had a nice tang, but smokey flavor and the meat basically fell off the bone. On top of this, the service was great. We waited about 10 minutes for our table and had just enough time to sit at the bar and have a drink first. Our server was very friendly, prompt with our request and was around when we needed him, without being around too much, if you know what I mean. Now that I have tasted the goods, I want more...

Hubby and I came here on a Sunday evening around 5pm with no reservation. Bad mistake. We waited a while for a table (who knew that everyone and their mother would be trying to eat dinner at 5pm on a Sunday evening?). Our service was fine. We've been here before, so we knew what to expect. I usually order chicken, but I wanted a steak that evening. I ordered a filet mignon, well done. Bad mistake #2 of the evening. They butterflied my steak to cook it evenly, but holy cow. It was TOUGH as leather. I kept chewing and chewing and chewing so much that my jaw hurt just trying to process the steak. At least my baked potato was good. I won't order a steak here again. Total disappointment. They still get 3 stars because we've never had any problems here before.

Wish I could give 3.5 stars. Pros: Large portion steak and all-you-can-eat salad (that any one can put together themselves). Like the numerous booths, and it's a large restaurant. Nice choices of beef cuts. Cons: Had one "off" waiter-- my prime rib came med instead of med rare, plus was hard to flag him down just to get him to take our drink order. Brussel sprouts side dish would be perfection if they were roasted longer. Have never had room to find out about desserts yet :(

I have always wanted to try Cattlemen's but would just keep driving. But we received a GC to here so we went.. I was disappointed with the food. After cutting off all the fat of my sirlion steak it was smaller than a filet mignon. I wanted medium well and received rare and I hate sending food back - I've seen the movies! Getting the scampi with my steak was also a bad idea, shirmp was curled over because it was cooked too long. The baked potato was even smaller than the steak! The baked beans tasted like dish water but I didn't tell DH and he took a spoonful - that was funny to see his face when he tasted it!!! The sourdough bread was really good. Served warm with a crusty outside and soft inside - we asked for seconds. The dessert looked good but we did not try any because it would of went over our GC and we're cheap! :) Service was really good. Checked on us several times and refilling water/soda without asking is always excellent! I don't think I will go here again I'd rather cook a steak on a Foreman grill! Which is too bad because I had such high hopes for this place. I'd rather drive to House of Prime Rib in SF or grill it myself if I really had to, ha! Who am I kidding - my DH will grill it for me. But it seemed nice for families - not really fancy, more casual. And they do sing that really annoying Happy Birthday that just embarrasses you and the entire table you are sitting with. Oh well.

The first time we came here was on Valentine's Day a few years ago. I didnt YELP then so i couldnt leave a review at that time. Anyway..... It was a group of 10 or 12 of us that ended up going. After getting seated they Brought out sourdough bread with butter...the buns were good. After having the bread and butter they bring out the salad. Now I thought the salad was very yummy and you can eat as much as salad, bread and beans as you like. I ordered a the New York 14oz steak with a baked potato, My husband Im sure had the Ribeye Steak with also a baked potato...My steak was cooked perfect just how I like it Medium Rare. I loved my steak Very very tender and juice, baked potato was verry good also, beans I loved. Oh and the steak sauce was delisssshhhh! Yum! I know we will be going back soon!

Never before have I received such awful service Anywhere. Its a shame that I did because I really enjoyed the food here. Everything started off fine, my boyfriend and I were promptly seated but everything went downhill from there. It took no less than five minutes for our server to appear. Everything Seemed fine, Dave was friendly taking our orders, but when our salad appeared "you wanted Italian? Yeah. I thought so." My boyfriend demolished the bread and we never got even an Offer for a refill of anything. Not that anyone even came by or even looked at us. We ordered two steaks, medium rare and medium and I Thought an ear of corn. Steaks arrived, mine was cooked nicely if a little under, but I like my steak rare so that's fine. My boyfriends came out Completely. Well. As in only pink next to the bone. Wth. Brought this up to my server "well, uh. Did you want me to take it back?" Yes. Obviously. My boyfriend was so starving at that point though that he was just like whatever. After this point we saw our server pass our table no less than Six. Times. All without even glancing at us. At this point I'm starting to get annoyed, even more so because I didn't receive my corn. Ugh. Whatever. ,maybe they're out. I couldn't get a hold of him to even Ask. In any case i didn't get charged for it. Dave dropped off the check, I paid, left an insulting but deserving tip and we left. Never again will we be back. It seemed as if he thought because we were young and Asian he wouldn't receive a good tip. Sorry, but even for mediocre service I Usually tip at least 20%. Shot yourself in the foot by ignoring me. Tl;dr good food, horrible service. I'd sooner go to Black Angus.

Feeling like steak and according to my bubby, Cattlemens got one of the best steak aroun with a fairly price. It was sunday night and it was a little packed. We were actually seated after 10 mins which is not bad. About the food, My bubby got the Western cut... this is what he got everytime he was here and as always it was great. I got the 14oz rib eye with the broccili. It was great. One of the best thing that I like it here is the fresh bread and fresh salad unlimited. Even though the bread would be a little too high on the carb but how can I resist it when its warm and fresh :) Our server was Sarah, OMG, whe was great she made us feel like everything she said was so honest. She looked at me and asking me how I like my food to be cook in a manner that a mother who is so concern with her child would do her best to get the best food for her kid in the way it was requested. It made me feel special and assure that things that would come out from the Kitchen would be the best stuff.

In 1996, I won 2 complimentary dinners at Cattleman's. I've been a fan ever since, although, I miss their Newark location. If you come on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared to wait for a table. I usually eat in the bar area. Never more than a 0-15 minute wait for a table in there, unless it's Monday Night Football - then you're screwed. I've always had great service, and the food is always top notch. I usually order the Pete's Special. Prices are VERY reasonable. The only complaint I have is the Mai Tai. They used to be super strong! Now they are so weak, I don't even bother ordering it anymore. Other than that, atmosphere is great. Food is great - I mean, not many places have all-you-can eat yummy salad & bread - with every meal. I now meet up with friends there as most of us have moved out to the Livermore way. The first-timers are never disappointed. I highly recommend. You will not leave hungry.

This place was definitely okay! We stopped here with friends on our way to Lake Tahoe for a birthday dinner last weekend. We were immediately seated for a table of 9 which was nice. The only problem is that the tables are SOOO close together that the woman behind me and I kept bumping each other plus getting out to go to the bathroom was very very difficult. Not sure why the tables are SO close together but it was annoying. We all ordered our meals quickly and our server was very nice. Kids meal are decently priced as well so it's a safe spot to bring kids without breaking your wallet too much. I loved my dinner and so did my husband. My poor friend on the other hand asked to have her steak medium and had to return it TWICE! It was way overcooked. Not sure why she was the only one since we all ordered ours medium. We were frustrated but the manager on duty made it right and did not charge her for her meal. He blamed it on a "new cook" in the back but who knows what was really going on. I ordered the sweet potato with my meal which was definitely worth the $1.99 extra for it. I highly recommend that for a substitute to your meal. Other then that, this place is decent but be prepared to spend a lot for your meal here. Just for my husband and I, our meal was $70 with tax and tip. Tables are cramped but the place is spacious and the bathrooms are clean.

I love Cattlemen's! I usually go for the prime rib, and it is usually fantastic. However, today, my meat was a little cold. The other times I've been here, it's been spot on. I love their all-you-can-eat free bread and salad, but I definitely come here for the prime rib. Don't forget the horseradish and there twice-baked potatoes are delicious. We usually come here on birthdays and they always sing and give us ice cream and a cowboy hat! Love the ambience here and always come here when I have a steak craving.

Went there last night and ate at the bar, food was good, service and regular customers seem to not want new people in there. A very rude and aggressive regular customer was giving people a hard about being in his place while the bartender watched and seemed to approve. Ruined the whole experience for not just us. The place is not worth the wait and trouble for me.

Food is always great! Beef ribs comes in huge portions, and my new favorite cowboy steak with bone in cooked medium is perfect ! Complimentary sour dough bread is always fresh and hot. The service on the other hand is always a HIT OR MISS thing. Some waiters are excellent, they come back check on your drinks, refill, ask if you need anything else? Those kinds of waiters are the best. I hate the ones your have to track down, when your dying for water or a refill or just want your check and a couple togo boxes.. well I got the waitress from hell friday night. The last time I saw her was when she gave us our meals, after that she never checked on us, I needed a refill on my soda , and I couldn't find her.. After looking and looking I had to stop a waiter that want even ours for a drink , then when it Was time to pay we waited another 20 mins for our check and togo boxes..we sat there and waited and waited just to pay.. At this point the service out weighed the food and I won't be coming back ! Sad because if they hired decent servers they would be a really great restaurant. The food is great! I'll miss this place =(

We've dined at Cattlemen's twice, and have been pleased both times. We ordered their original dinner for two, the prime rib was delicious, the portions were large (we brought one dessert and some of the prime rib home). The service on our first visit was outstanding, the second time was decent, which is my reason for four stars instead of five. Safeway on First Street has a $10 coupon on the back of their receipt, which is nice. We will definitely be back.

Rustler Ribeye Steak with Twice Baked Potato. Get it. Love it. Thank me for recommending it. You're welcome. p.s.: If you are salt sensitive, this might be a lil hard to enjoy. Otherwise, get this dish in medium rare to enjoy its heavenly rich, juicy, and salty goodness.

The food was good. Today was our first time here. ~The only reason why i didn't give this place 5 stars is because the waitress forgot part of our order, and by the time it did get to our table we were full. oh and we order two and only got one.

I am still giving them 5 stars, as their food is still consistent as ever, and delicious prime rib, that me daughter fell in love with tonight, her birthday. The funny thing is, the server messed up royally, not only affecting us, but another table as well. She was very nice and apologetic, and sincere, but I almost told her when she said she didn't know where her head was(or something to that affect, that if you were going to screw up, why not do it in grand fashion, like she did, but in a funny way. I refrained from furthering her mortification, which was deserved. She forgot it was my daughters birthday! After making about 6 mistakes! Yikes!

Chose this for my birthday dinner last night. I had been here YEARS ago and remembered it as being delicious. So, in trying to figure out somewhere "different" to go to make my birthday special, I chose here. We had a party of 8, so bigger than your usual, but not huge. The service was TERRIBLE. We were only brought out one bread basket and one butter for 8 people. We had to ask for more butter and more bread. Then the salad is brought out, again only 1 bowl for 8 people, and no tongs. We had to ask for more salad, we weren't checked on. Had to ask for refills on drinks, and when they brought out the meal, it wasn't explained that the side of baked beans (tiny little bowl) was for EVERYONE to share! Not only was the service not good, the food was just not tasty. I ordered the "Rustler Ribeye". It was extremely fatty and not a nice cut of meat. The shoestring onions on top made it extremely salty as well. I didn't enjoy it at all. I did get the obligatory ice cream, hat and song for my birthday, but then we were not even offered the dessert menu for the rest of the table! Tip for waiters: if you would like to make more money, try at least offering the dessert menu to the table!! As you can probably tell, I wish I had picked a different restaurant in which to dine on my birthday dinner. I won't be back.

CATTLEMENS Large steaks!!! A taste of the Old West. Life as a Cowboy is displayed all over the walls. If you're hungry, bring your appetite. Many steaks and styles to choose from. Go to Livermore for wine tasting, and then treat yourself to some delicious steaks! 'Nuff said! A bit pricy, but worth the money.

You call that a "marbleized" rib eye steak? If you decide to eat here, hopefully you chewed on rocks when you were a kid, never had braces, and have razor sharp chompers because you will need it to get through this piece of meat that they call a "MARBLEIZED" rib eye? Pretty sure you can find a better piece of meat in the frozen section at Wal-Mart. The French fries that came with it must have been cooked in "Soul Glo!" If you like greeezzyy soaked fries then you must try it. I wished I would have gone to Carl's Jr instead which is located right next door. My wallet and my gut would have enjoyed it a lot better! Never again

Cattlemens gets one of my coveted five-stars. They're consistently good, the servers generally all-strars (except the one guy who bows all the time when he talks to our table). I like that they have a gluten-free menu, though you need to ask at the front counter. (I'll even forgive it being a photocopied page.) And if you get the right server (there's a few on my fav list), it's a pleasant, leisurely meal, not a rush-rush to clear the table for the next guest. Nuts to them -- I got here first.

I used to go to the Newark location with the bf & one of our guy friends for Monday Night Football & $1 beef ribs, but that location, which was more convenient for us, closed down. Since then, we've tried the Livermore location about 3 times. We came here this weekend for some Friday night grub: I had the "shrimp your way" ($19.99): bacon wrapped shrimp (BBQ'ed, great flavor) & shrimp scampi (DROWNING in butter. I could literally hear the shrimp screaming out for help. The shrimp itself tasted great, but the sauce is overkill & I tried to eat as little of it as possible.) You get all the "fixin's" at Cattlemen's- all you can eat salad, beans in a pot, & a side of starch (I got baked potato.) The three of us started with a steak nachos because we were starvin like marvin; It's more like chili & beans nachos, not too many pieces of steak. The bf had beef ribs (huge portion, too greasy & fatty for me, but the guys claim they're *supposed* to be that way) and our friend had the pork ribs. We ended the meal by sharing their chocolate mousse cake. I guess if you're going to eat 10,000 calories in one sitting, there better be some chocolate somewhere in there. Our waitress was super friendly & checked on us often enough. Our bill (not including tip) was $85. This is a great place for an all American steakhouse experience, nothing too fancy, definitely not pretentious with fast, fun, friendly service. This, however, is a HORRIBLE place if you care about your caloric or fat intake.

I can't rate the food because honestly, I haven't had it although I tried to once. But I can definitely rate the service and as you can see from my rating of 1 star, it was pretty crappy. Let me tell you why...it was Friday night and my bf heard from his colleagues that Cattlemens was good so we were in the area and decided to give it a try. We walked in and noticed more than 75% of the people had on cowboy boots and hats. Was this theme night or something?? Already feeling out of place. Wait for the regular dining room was 30 mins so we decided to go to the bar. Which was pretty roomy and only half full. Waited...and waited...and waited some more. Hmmm...where's our waitress or waiter? Where's our water and menus? Where's the "we'll be with you in just a moment?" Instead, we got stares from waitress/waiters walking by our tables and fellow customers. I don't know why, it's not like I had a booger hanging from my nose or something. Or horns growing from my head. Or maybe they were staring because we were the only "colored" people in there? But let's not assume... Anyways, about 15 mins later (which was waay longer than I wanted to wait) we got up and left. And I'm sure the workers didn't even acknowledged it. Will we come here again? No way! Regardless of how the food is even though I'm still wondering if the food is all that great. Because frankly, the service sucks.

Awesome dinner at Cattlemens. Went on a Saturday night, the place was packed, but we found a seat in the bar after a very short wait. Great bar atmosphere, great bartender. Had the beef ribs, they were delicious. Favorite part was the cookie dessert. Many people make a good baked cookie dessert, but this was a cut above most.

Seriously folks this is the best steak of your life. I've been twice and twice I have been blown away. I had the ribeye with the bone the first time, with accompanying salad, beans, baked potato and fresh rolls and I was STUFFED. The ribeye was well done and still it was tender and melted in my mouth. It was so rich in flavor and juicy. Yesterday I went again and shared the dinner for two with my boyfriend. We started off with the cheesy artichoke dip and while my boyfriend thought it was good I was practically orgasmic. The cheese with it's dark smokey flavor over sourdough bread was truly magical. We both had the ribeye my well done and his medium rare and both were OUTSTANDING. We were so full we asked for our desserts to be packed up to take home. I mentioned to the hostess that we were celebrating our anniversary and the staff plopt cowboy hats on both of us and sang Happy Anniversary to us while delivering a scoop of vanilla. It was sweet and I can't wait to come back again.

This is a few months overdue. We have since returned to Cattlemens several times over the last few months to attend a few family birthday parties, and unfortunately, both of our last experiences were quite horrendous. I'll keep it short. We ordered specific items, they all turned out wrong. Steaks, we ordered medium rare or well done, were overcooked or completely rare. They had to redo the steaks several times over again with them continuously messing it up. They forgot to bring us items. We also noticed that several other tables were complaining about their food as well . We finally got a hold of the manager, which he insincerely apologized for our experience. He also deducted some items off the bill. We then asked him if we could get some boxes for a few items to go, which he said he would give us "right away" and then never returned.... yeah. I have to say, I actually love the outdated, cheesy, western themed atmosphere the place portrays, and I actually really enjoyed the food my first visit as well, however, my last two visits have clearly got me thinking differently and surly have me the least bit eager to come back. Sorry Mr. Wooden Cowboy.

I don't usually eat here on the regular but, I do choose to eat here for every birthday. Today was my birthday and again, they never fail me. Made reservations that morning & throughout the day.... i called 3 times to add more people & they totally accommodated us. We walked in and there was a sign in front with our names on it ( I'm a twin), wishing us happy birthday. We ordered almost everything on the menu. We ordered Fried onion appetizers, soups, salad, tbones, tri tip, ribs, ny steak, fillet minon & I ordered a steak n lobster. Good portions, Everything was great, came out pretty quick & every birthday we get a cowboy hat, ice cream & sang to. We'll continue to go here every birthday and occasionally for great food & service.

On our way home from San Francisco airport yesterday and thought we would stop for dinner and let the traffic clear up. First time there and we found long black hair in our salad bowl, reaction of server was not too surprised. Just asked if we wanted a new one. Not too impressive. Got the special T- bone and it was cooked perfectly but sure if that makes up for lack of concern over salad.

On 8/8/14 we had seven people and got there at 5:30 pm. The wait will be at 9:00 pm. We left and went some place else. You have to make reservations ahead of time.

It's Cattkemen's. Noisy, over booked, drinks are marginal, servers over worked. Food is good, not exceptional.

Went here for the first time yesterday. We called at 6pm to make a reservation for two but they said they wouldn't have a table until 7pm. We got there at 6:35pm and they sat us right away. The service was good but soooo slow. We were there almost three hours! Now the food, it was okay, the artichoke and cheese appetizer was good. Ribs were dry with a lot of fat and the beef filet was tender, juicy and had great flavor but a little cold. The fries that came with the ribs were cold and I mean cold. The mashed potatoes I got with the filet was cold too. Maybe because we waited an hour for our main entree. They also brought us this little pot of beans. We didn't order it but I guess it came with the entrees. We didn't touch it as it looked like it came from somebody else's table and sat for a few hours before being brought to our table. Not very appetizing to look at while we ate.

Previous dine in at Cattlemens was fabulous as the T-bone steak was great. Tried take out for a half rack of pork ribs on Jun 18th and it was awful. The ribs were so tough all I could imagine was this is what a zombie feels like eating a cadaver. Not fresh and/or enjoyable. Not sure what happened yet this was not a good experience.

Been to this location a couple of times with friends, and kudos to the staff who really aim for great customer service! The old western decor creates a nice ambiance, although it looks a bit dusty. I've had their fish and steak plates which were great tasting and filling. They will accommodate customers whenever possible (substituting one item for another, like rice for mashed potatoes or veggies). The food is pretty good (but not top notch, quality wise). Overall, decent food, great customer service, and reasonable prices for good old fashion American Food for the family.

My first time here..It was cool! - old western theme though out. - drinks refilled. - dirty plates picked up quickly. - waitress was very good - checked on us several times...with a smile. Eats: "The Sheriff" with mushrooms (29.00) Medium Well just like I asked..thx. steak was delicious. It was so gigantic I had to take half the steak home - I couldn't finish it...ugh. Honestly, I probably wouldn't order this again tho...I'll stick to the rib eye or prime rib cuts next time. I would come back again 4 sure! Place can get pricey real quick tho...just so you know..laterz.

Never got to the food....we sat for literally 15 minutes being ignored by every server that walked by. No water, bread ...nothing. And the servers stood at the end the isle just talking. Unreal! Hadn't ever been here and won't ever be back !

When you get the cravin' for steak, you get steak! Arrived fairly late, a little after 9, we were unable to get seated but we were able to sit at the open bar area and order food. After salivating over the menu items, we were ready to order...... and we were ready to order for a good 30minutes... apparently they are fairly short staffed or their staff members do not notice 6 people with menus laid out on the table that have not been waited upon. Besides the initial non-existent service snafu, everything else was spot on! Eventually a waiter found us and apologized for the wait and offered excellent service! The food tasted great... my giant porterhouse steak HIT the spot... and it was fun and rainbows from there on out. Definitely a fan of the food, perhaps I got unlucky with the service. however, still recommended

  • jack q.

We have been coming here for years and except for one occasion the food and service has been spot on. They have a great formula and train their staff well. Always fresh salad, warm sourdough bread, tasty beans, and meat grilled and seasoned just as ordered. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of food. Unless something changes we will keep making this our go to steakhouse.

    (5)
  • Chris C.

First time here...sitting in the bar alone because I am here on business and I am full as well as very pleased. The service is great (ask for Brandon) and the food was excellent. They actually cooked my steak like I asked (cold and red) and the sourdough bread was delicious. I recommend Cattlemens highly and will definitely visit again.

It used to be one of my family's favorite steakhouse. Maybe because today is the Father's Day so the service and the food were not up to the standard. First of all, we made a reservation at 8pm but when we arrived at 7:40pm, they told us our reservation was 8:30pm. We were finally seated at round 8:55pm. Then for our order, there were lots of confusion. Our server gave us options on the side orders with potato, veggie and a grilled corn on the cob. But later we found out we had to pay extra $2.50 for each of the corn while the other options are complimentary. We also ordered shrimp scampi. I asked about the size of the shrimp scampi and was told at least 5 to 6 or 10 depending on the size of the shrimps. But our side only came in 4 shrimps and it costed $9.99. We have asked for more bread and refill of ice-tea but did not get the bread, and had the refill when we had the bill. We ordered medium steaks but they came very rare and needed to ask for re-cooked. They came back ok and with a small tin cup of mushrooms. This nice gesture shows that they care about their customers. We were just unlucky to have an inexperienced server on a very busy day. And for a final remark, we used to love this place because it serves Harris Ranch steaks. So whenever we travel near the Harris Ranch area, we will go to its restaurant. The prime rib and porterhouse are really great there but it's two hours drive from Livermore.

While visiting my Niece, Great-Niece and Great Nephew we decided to have dinner at their regular monthly restaurant. This restaurant can be seen just off the freeway at Airway Blvd. While browsing the menu, I focused on my usual steak, the Ribeye. My Niece mentioned the Thursday Special which was the 14oz New York Steak and Jumbo Shrimp. Ok, I bit and ordered the special, requested the steak cooked Med-Rare, Baked Potato with everything and a salad. The is served in a community bowl to serve yourself, but you get your own serving of dressing of choice. Now, calling them-selves a Steakhouse and being in business for a few years, one would think they can cook a steak correctly. Well, my New York was served Med-well. The only thing that saved this review from a two-star was it was still moist. The steak had a good amount of salt. Cattlemens adverts that their steaks fresh are from Harris Ranch. I guess for the price, the steaks are not dry-aged. This is a good family restaurant, friendly hostess and waitress. A good dinner experience except the overcooked steak, ugh.

Worst place ever!! I have never hated an eating establishment as much as I hate this place. This place should receive negative stars .. And here is why. I came here on Monday with my family and there was 8 of us. It was only 5pm and the place was no where near close to being busy. We didn't get seated for another 15 mins after I checked us in. When we finally got seated .. Not one person came to greet or ask if we wanted anything to drink. I used the restroom, washed my hands and when I came back .. Still no one. I ask my mom if anyone had even acknowledge us and she said no. I was with my family so I let it slide. 30 minds after we were seated .. Still not a single person to come up to us. And this is while 5-7 servers has passed us by. Even the manager was just walking back and forth to the computer screen in the corner with a complete view of our table .. Still nothing. Finally I ask the girl who sat us down for some water and told her what was going on and she said sorry. Another 10 mins later .. Our waitress finally came saying oh I'll be right with you .. And by this time I'm really just irritated. When we finally get water .. The waitress spills it on my grandmas purse and entire back!! After this I was just done. I got up and ask for the manager and told him that I have never received such terrible customer service before. Of course all he can say is sorry. I told my family we were leaving. We were all fed up with all the bullshit they were giving us. Worst eating establishment in the world! I would never recommend anyone here. We went to Texas Roadhouse instead in Tracy instead and were greatly pleased with their service. Don't ever eat here guys! You'll have a much better experience eating at Carls jr next door.

Well the reason for the 4 stars is the place was packed due to 2 major graduations and the first night for the Rodeo, we had a late reservation for a party of 25,ok there were about 300 people in our room nicely set up I should add. Things went well considering the obvious food was good some, meals were a little cold no big deal. Some people from our party was not so happy what so ever and blew things way out of proportion and frankly embarrassed most of us. The management did a wonderful job handling the situation. Our server Jenn S. Did a outstanding job!!!!!!!! We will Definitely go back minus a few people if you know what I mean... Thanks again Jenn S.

Ummmm. How do I start this review? First off, the company that I work for does their "end of the year celebration" (an HR nightmare trying to figure out what to call the gathering). I am not a steak person, but this is a great place to get not just steak. Although my husband has ordered the steak the past 3 years and its been real hit or miss. I love the pesto raviolis. They are really yummy. (thats the perfect word to describe them). The flavor gets a little old about half way through, but they are pretty good. Their salad is AWESOME! its not that hard to make a salad but they make their salad just the way I like it with all the right mix ins and dressings. All in all, its a great place for large groups and the staff is really nice and helpful. Its in the middle of nowhere but its a great place overall for a nice dinner.

Every time I come here I'm disappointed. Food is not good and is overpriced. Tonight I ordered prime rib medium rare, came out overcooked and cold. Like really cold , my mom's was too. She was really hungry so she just ate it. I told my server it was cold. I thought they'd get me a new one. Instead they took my plate and popped it in the microwave, so now it was wayyy over cooked. I immediately told her I wasn't going to eat it. She apologized and asked if I wanted the filet or the new York. What I wanted was the prime rib done right but apparently that wasn't an option so I opted for the new York. She came back 5 minutes later saying she put on the order for a filet.. That's not what I asked for. By the time I got my food correct, everyone else's plates were being picked up.. If my family continues to do gatherings here I won't be coming because I refuse to continue to pay too much for terrible food. I'll take my businesses to Black Angus in Dublin where my beef is cooked properly and tastes delicious.

    (1)
  • Nancy F.

This place is comparable to Black Angus or Outback to me...nothing impressive but decent. Nothing to rave about.

    (3)
  • Melissa R.

When you go to a steak place you expect that the steak is going to be decent. My filet, not so good and in fact it was just shy of inedible. It was cooked medium as I asked but the char on the outside was out of control. I felt like it was rubbed in charcoal then seared. It was hard to distinguish the fact that it was meat. Hind site, I should have sent it back but I was super hungry and decided to scrape off the char and eat it. (hunger leads to hasty decisions)

Made reservations for a Wednesday night at 6:30pm for a birthday party. We arrived 5 minutes early and were seated in the waiting area. We waited 30 minutes before they were able to get a table. They came by and asked us if they could squeeze us into a booth (made for 4 people) or would rather wait a couple more minutes for our table instead. We said 'no' and that we would wait a little longer. More time passed and they finally came by and said that our table was ready. They then proceeded to take us to the same booth that they offered us earlier. The waitress only came by 3 times during the meal and we spent most of the meal without water and without being able to get refills for our drinks. The food was very good. Generous portions and very tasty. But pricey too. Despite being told that it was a birthday party, no special mention was made during our visit. Meanwhile, at the table next to us, they brought ice cream with candles and sang happy birthday. It didn't make our birthday guest feel very special at all. $190 later (5 people), we commented to the staff at the entrance on the way out how disappointed we were wig the service that evening. They didn't apologize or have anything to say about it. Frankly, for almost $200, I would have expected better service from a steakhouse. Needless to say, we won't be returning to Cattlemans anytime soon nor recommending it to any friends or family.

two stars only because the two bartenders Heather and Ashely were amazing, but the food is just terrible! I ordered a 7oz rib eye sandwich with out bread, I ordered it med., it came back med well, so the Ashely took it back and ordered it for Med... it came rare!!!! I was very disappointed! so then Ashely said I can take it back. I said no I will take it home. but she went to Management they offered me another steak. so I took a prime rib. it was terrible also... the potato was over baked, the only good item were the beans.... i will return to have a drink and speak with Heather and Ashely... my favorite place for steak is Texas Road House in Tracy!!!!!

Updating to five stars because I've been here plenty of times since and have had many great experiences and lots of delicious steak. The crispy onion strings are also awesome.

Worst waitress ever (I think her name was Stacy). I asked for my steak medium rare. I ate some of it from the side (which was fine), but when I got to the center of it, the steak was raw! I told the waitress and she took my plate away. Later came back and delivered my partially eaten steak to me burnt!!! Who throws a partially eaten steak back on the grill where other people's food gets cook on???!!!???!! In addition, who returns the same piece of steak they messed up to their customer??!!?? She hardly came to check on us and when she did, she was rushing by. Never filled our water or bread. At the end of our dinner, she came by and asked if I wanted a box for the bone from my t-bone! Unbelievable. The hostess at the front counter were just as bad. I told them my waitress was terrible and they had nothing to say but to look at me. The manager was standing there but was occupied with some paperwork. What a way to run a business. I guess you don't have to be educated or have good customer service to work there. They really deserve a negative star rating. Maybe they are racist and discriminatory!!!!

Made reservations for party of 8 but still need to wait for 45 mins to be seated. they only said they were super busy and still waiting for some paying parties to leave. As we walked to our table, we saw tables and tables of dirty dishes but half the restaurant was empty. Weird......anyhow, took the waiter 20 mins to show up at our table and another 15 mins to get us water. By this time, i super mad and my kids are starving and crying. another 12 mins went before i flagged someone and demand they take my order. another 30 mins before our fries came out. it was cold and tasted nasty. although the manager did comp us some shrimp cocktails that just won't do it. all of the steaks were cooked incorrectly and the sides were horrible and salty. it took another 25 mins for our bill to come. i will never come back again.

Pretty nice steakhouse. Atmosphere and decor is very authentic. Long wait if you come at peak times. Service is very good. The steaks are good but not the best for the money. Prices range from high teens to low $30 depending on size and cut. The waitress saw our young daughter and hooked us up with some good information. If you have kids under 11 get the deputy club t-shirt deal ($15). All kids hunter club members eat free every day with a t-shirt until 11 years old. We now keep ours in the minivan!

I probably shouldn't even give a review about this place since the only reason I ever come here is because I go with my boyfriend's family. I'm not crazy about steaks/meat in general, but they are and they LOVE this place. I liked the salad. Liked the bread. Liked the potato. Liked the desert. The steak I had was alright. Nothing was bad. It's just the prices blew me away since they were so high and I expected something amazing. I guess those were normal steak prices though and I just never knew since I never go to places like that. If you're big on steak/meat, then sure, try this place out! If not, then I'd say pass on this place.

I've been here a few times and always have the Ribeye. I was there last night and enjoyed my meal. I'm a repeat customer but the service was just a lil off. They forgot a few items but nothing major. The staff are friendly and nice. If it was my first time there I might of gave them a 3 star. But based on my overall experience over the last few years, last night seems like a small hiccup. The steaks are great and the herb crusted rack of lamb is very good! I would still recommend this place to any one.

Good old time family steakhouse. High quality Harris Ranch beef cooked over hardwood. Great flavor and we always leave satisfied. Very consistent quality, we prefer the bar because they have an expanded menu. Try the Pete's special, it is a bargain.

I don't know what happened. I used to be a BIG fan of the Cattlemens in Dixon when I was a student at UC Davis. I would typically get "The Sheriff" and down that 32oz sirloin like I haven't eaten in a month. The wife and I made a last minute decision to visit the Livermore location for my birthday dinner (Thursday night in December). Wait: The place was PACKED, we waited probably 45 minutes for a table for two. Food: I ordered the nachos and it didn't come with sour cream, weird. I ordered a porterhouse medium rare, and the edges had some char to it, but it was kind of a bitter char. Not sure why. I also ordered a lobster tail, but it was super rubbery. Service: No issues here. My experience here let me down, I wanted to re-live the good times from before, but unfortunately I think I'll have to avoid this location at least in the future.

My favorite steak house!! Me and my family come here a lot! My favorite is the steak and lobster. Their bread and salad is also really good! The servers and their assistants are on top of things! Always checking to make sure everyone has full drinks and everything else we need! I wish I could remember the name of our last waitress she was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend this place!

We sat in the bar for happy hour! (I love happy hour by the way and can be lured in anywhere just by seeing the sign--a marketer's dream). Anywho, my drink was very weak and I'm wondering if they remembered I ordered vodka/7 and not just 7? I'll find out next time....

Service and food deserve more than 5 stars. Every server we've had has been super helpful, friendly and honest. Quick side note, a manager saw the front was getting a lil backed up and asked me how many were in my group. It was just my gf and I that night so he literally found us a 2 top table, bused it himself, placed 2 settings and brought our menus. I couldn't believe how attentive and thoughtful he was. It's not even a question of Black Angus or Outback anymore, it's always Cattlemans. Oh and the prime rib is insanely good and they actually know how to cook any steak the way you want. You can say medium and IT WILL BE MEDIUM.

I meant to post this update sooner but time got away from me! So we gave Cattlemens another chance, for my SIL's birthday, along with out of town guests, total headcount 12. Had a chance to meet manager Nancy and thank her for the gift certificate and for being responsive to my prior email. After all this time, I've now forgotten our servers name! :( I'm so sorry! We were there on Monday July 29th around 6pm, so perhaps the server or Nancy will remember our big group! Anyway, our server was awesome and constantly checked on us, she was always available to ask for something or order something extra. The food was outstanding, everyone enjoyed it very much! I think everyone had something different, from rib eye to prime rib, to bbq ribs, to filet, all of it was great, and cooked exactly to order! All in all a great night out, and we will definitely be back!!

    * * * * * BRONTOSAURUS STEAK * * * * * Automatic Five Stars!!! - Fellow Yelper (Ron S.) and I attended our buddy's 40th birthday dinner celebration here on 05/11/12. - Our party: We had 52 people (adults and kids). And they accommodated us all with ease. - The wait staff allowed us to have separate checks. They even challenged themselves by getting our appetizers, salads, and main courses out in less than 30 minutes from the time of order. Special Kudos to our smokin' hot blonde waitress (sorry I forgot her name). - My T-Bone steak was the highlight of the party. Check out my picture! It's a BROTOSAURUS STEAK!!! This is the real deal - fresh meat, succulent, tender, and grilled to perfection. I had to take home half. Definitely, this is going on my steakhouse list whenever I'm in the East Bay area. Ask for medium. Trust me! - Steak Prices: $19 to $38 (market price). - Parking: Plentiful at night. - Perfect for Group Parties: Make reservations in advance. My buddy's wife booked the event one week in advance. - UYE Worthy: Hell yeah! This is going to be a steak challenge venue with fellow Yelpers. - Vegan friendly: uh... no. - Attire: Casual. Don't dress up. This is a throwdown ya'll!

I've been here several times. Mixed service and food. Overall 3-4 stars. Why not a 5, well it's just not a level 5 place. Some great things and some so so things. They have a Wednesday night special $12.99 for an 8oz sirloin. Used to be less than this. Good deal for a really decent steak! Tried a ribeye and t-bone from others plates, but liked my "deal" the most. Tender, juicy, no gristle or fat on my steak (another time had just a minimal amount, typical, no biggie). Great for when I'm not in the mood to cook! Recommend making a reservation, I've seen waits get pretty long, up to an hour.

A staple of the Valley for years. You always get more than you can eat unless you are starving. The salad is all you can eat brought to your table. They are known for the beef, but there are other choices for those not into beef alone. A great place for large parties with a huge back room.

Cattlemens is one of my all time favorites!! The sheriff is a cut that's 32 ounces and will leave you with left overs for sure. This place is a must try.

Great service! I know it's all about customer service these days, and the staff are pleasant and helpful without seeming fake. The food was good too. I got the petite filet mignon, cooked medium rare, and that's just how it was done. Husband and brother in law were happy with their meals too. The salad is blech, it's just iceberg lettuce. The warm bread is delicious, I wanted to rest my head on its pillowy, soft goodness. Instead I ate it. For a not too expensive, decent steak dinner, it's a fine place to go. It does get crowded but the wait isn't ridiculous. I didn't like the smell. When you walk in there's a weird musty odor, and as we walked from the saloon to the dining area, it had serious eau d'urinal cake. It smells funky. Feh.

Really Disappointed The menu selections looked good and the server was good; but the foood....hmmm ...it wasn't so good. I had medium rare prime rib and my hubby had medium rare rib eye. the prim rib was medium rare but tough and bland. The supposed rib eye had better flavor and tenderness, but still wasn't up to par.. The appetizer, desert and sides menu displayed a wide selection of choices, but we weren't impressed with the taste or quality of the food received. We passed on desert, deciding the frozen yogurt was more worthy.

I cannot understand positive reviews of this place. I sent back the prime rib twice because it was so tough it was impossible to chew. Finally gave up. Veggies overcooked. My husband's steak tasted like it was treated with tenderizer like Sizzler uses. Booths are unattractive and claustrophobic. One star is too high. Never again.

I like this place way better than the Outback. The marinated steak brochette skewers are really yummy. Service can be hit or miss, but the thing I like most about it as that they take reservations for large groups and they seat you almost immediately when you arrive with a reservation. For that reason, we have frequented this place for family gatherings. The last time I came here with just my immediate family of 4, service was really awful. I think only the more experienced serving staff takes large parties.

The service was painfully slow, the beans did not arrive until I complained twice and they were watery, worse I bit a rock, yes, that was in them and when I complained to the manager the response was "it happens!" Shame, because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants that I have also recommended over the years along with the other Cattlemen's. Even the best don't last forever. Too bad.

Used to be my favorite steak house and it is still a nice place to eat with a nice setting and great service. Just the food is only okay as our steaks were kinda tough. The all you can eat salad bowl is great and the fixins like baked potatoes were great. But the steaks is what we came for and they were not exciting. My wife had prime rib and it was a little tough also. The chicken portions were rather small and I shared my steak with him as he was still hungry. Still a fun place to come to as the service is very helpful and enthusiatic. Crowded at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. We got lucky as we walked right in with a party of 11.

I love the food here. The filet was great. I had a lobster tail on the side. I give 4 stars only because we waited at our table after being seated for 15 to 20 min before being greeted and our order for drinks was taken. I still will come back again.

Boo!!!! Why aren't you open for lunch?? Ok, guess I could have checked Yelp before we drove all the way from San Jose craving a big juicy steak but who would have thought they weren't open for lunch. This is America, gosh darn it. In the five minutes we were there staring at the closed doors in disbelief, at least 10 other equally disappointed carnivores came and left.

I ordered the steak and shrimp combo. The seasoning was way too salty and the shrimp was dry. I regret going to this place.

This is to complain about their staff specifically Gayla Gilliland Yesterday early evening, my family of 12 came here (Cattlemens Livermore) to enjoy Monday Night Football + food + drinks + laughter. What more can you ask for, good food, good company, good eats. Well doors open at 5pm. We were there at 4:30pm just to make sure we're early enough to grab a decent table to fit us all in the lounge area in the back of the restaurant with their biggest Big screen TV. As soon as the doors opened promptly at 5pm, we all (including other families who waited outside) went to our desired areas to enjoy our evening. The seating in the lounge is on a First Come First Serve basis. After finding the table our family can comfortably sit at for the next few hours (since we'll be watching the game) - we were ready to order. Within a few mins of settling in, here approaches another family (of 6), walks over to our table, sets their drinks down and says "this is our table we're sitting here" and gave us the look to demand us in getting up. Again, in the lounge area NO TABLES are RESERVED. And to be even more technical, this specific table we were at had NO reserved sign. So after going back and forth with saying "this is our table" and me and other family members saying "we were here first" - we needed Cattlemens staff to get involved to kindly ask these people who just approached us claiming we're sitting at "their" table. Mind you, they felt the need to call it "their" table because they have been going there every Monday night for the past 10 years and that's the "table" they enjoy to sit at. Sooo several waitresses came over looking stunned and speechless. Yes, they recognize the returning customers who visited Cattlemen's for 10 yrs, but they also recognize us who've also been returning for going on several months now. The staff knows it's a first come first serve basis and that if we got their first we should stay. So either the waitresses felt they didn't want to get involved because they didn't want to play favoritism, or because they had no authority to control the situation. So then here walks over Gayla Gilliland and with an attitude. She rudely says to us "we need to move, these people have been coming here for years and this is their favorite table, we need to sit somewhere else, and to us they are considered like Norm in Cheers". We looked at her and said how can you handle a situation like this when these tables are first come first serve - and we arrived FIRST. And we're a party of 12, we are about to spend a hefty amount of cash at your restaurant. She repeated herself with comments I quoted. Side note: my family and I are mixed minorities, this other family is Caucasian and so is Gayla. We specifically made her aware how she turned this situation now into something deeper because she's treating us with utter disgust because SHE feels we're in the wrong by sitting at their table with no sign that says "Reserved By:...". We commented back saying - we see how you're treating us now. She by passed it and said no "I'm just saying they've been coming here for years and they are like Norm in Cheers". NEWSFLASH Gayla - it doesn't matter if they were coming since Cattlemens was even thought of and opened for business back in 1968, you immediately favored them in getting what they wanted. We asked to speak with her manager, she was delighted to call over Brent Alverson. When he heard of the issue and can see how it has escalated to a "race issue" he wasn't happy. We said do you know how quickly we can file a lawsuit at this location because of Gayla who blatantly favored some customers opposite race than us, yet gives us the excuse they are our "Norm of Cheers". Who cares - we were there early, we stood in line until the doors open, we grabbed our tables (that no one was sitting at) like normal dining customers....then we're asked to get up and go find another place to sit cause these other people want our table. Ugh, very annoying and embarrassing. Brent apologized offered to give us a round of drinks and took 25% off the bill. As that's nice and all, but still it doesn't solve the issue of Gayla's actions (who actually is in a management position as well) and her attitude - we were embarrassed disrespected....how dare you!!

I've always loved cattlemans. But, since 15yrs ago...it's slowly gone down hill, a little at a time. Service used to be so much better. Very friendly and smiles. Now it can be a little spotty. The steaks are still decent but the price is a little high since there are other options nearby for quality juicy steaks. I also never really liked being charged for every little thing. Onions on the steak or sauté mushrooms or even subtle up charges etc. But I still go there occasionally because of the location and the bar!...golf course to. Update: 4/10/14 Group of us had a great experience a couple weeks ago. We all sat in the bar area and got prompt service for drinks, bread, salad etc. Their cowboy ribeye was excellent. We ordered 5 of them and they we're all thick and juicy with proper grill burns. They must have hired a diff chef and vender for their steaks or something. I'm giving it another 2 stars!...I hope it'll be the same next time I go.

I'm usually more than generous with my reviews as I'm easy to please. Recently bought the fam their Tri tip steak tacos. They are getting 3 stars because the value is outstanding! They are losing stars because in our last order was a long black hair RIGHT in the middle of one of the taco! Yuck!! Please wear a hairnet when working with food!! Drove all the way back from Pleasanton and they were good enough to replace the tacos with a hairless one, but mental image kinda ruined the flavor! Word to management..Your female staff will hate you for it, but hairnets mandatory!!

Service was wonderful - smiling, attentive, and very friendly. The place decor and ambiance is very family friendly and relaxed. The food, however is just average. The steaks have lots of veins and not perfectly cut, although prepared to order. The ribs were nothing special - dry, a bit charred and drizzled with too much sauce to cover up the dryness. On the positive side, the potato skins were excellent and the ranch dressing with the salad was delicious. Overall, an not too fancy, but satisfying experience.

Horrible. Absolutely horrible and unsanitary! My mother ate there a month ago and has been extremely sick ever since then. She has food poisoning, was vomiting and using the bathroom all day for 6 days straight, and now, her stomach has been really weird for a whole month and she's even been having problems with her heart. She's had to keep going to the hospital and even today on Thanksgiving she had to go to the emergency room. Thanks Cattlemen's for ruining my mother and ruining my Thanksgiving; I'll never eat there again. Outback is better anyway. If she dies, you better be expecting a lawsuit.

I'm pretty sure our servers have never worked in this industry before. We've been here for an hour and our good isn't out yet. They took the bread off of our table. Apparently the salad isn't all you can eat either. They took our bowl and our dressing. There's very little they can do at this point to redeem themselves.

I went here to dinner with my friends and BF and I had prime rib. It came out delish!! They kept giving us bread and refilling our drinks. Everyone was pretty nice. The front seemed a little disorganized but luckily that didn't ruin it for us. We had some issues getting seated. But everyone enjoyed their dinner 3 prime rib and some ribs. We were happy with the service and will definitely be coming back. Thank you Cattleman. You're blowing Black Angus out of the water.

Been coming here for years, the service is always great the food is always excellent, I usually don't get anything but the rustler ribeye medium rare HHMMMM GOOD and the twice baked potato and the salad is great and don't get me started on the bacon wrapped shrimp, and my girlfriend got the top sirloin, wow was that good too, so it's safe to say I will keep coming back, I highly recommend Cattlemen's

Food was good and service was friendly enough. Problem we had was we sat next to a birthday party of 20 and our waitress had to take care of them and left us behind. The birthday party had two different deserts so our server had to walk around and get everyone's choice, then she had to cut eat piece and serve it up. We knew our food must have been ready but we sat and waited. When she finished of course our food was brought out, cold, forget the beans and onion strings on my steak. Cold corn was gross which we paid extra for. Should have sent it back but needed to eat and get home. They need to have the servers help each other out when one is stuck with a big party.

This is just eerie. I'm nearly, absolutely positive I've reviewed Cattlemens already. But as they seem to know us here -- and it's not always because we're whining about something or another -- so they're worth the re-write. I'm a vanilla sort of guy (yeah, read the reviews, and you could probably order for me about as predictably as strangers off the street could nail what I order here, and really, most places... but have finally learned you shouldn't order a filet mignon well done. Got the evil eye on that one, never again.... will I order one.) But I digress. The endless sourdough bread is worth the stop alone, as is the seemingly liter-sized soda cups -- and for a guy that can down such a thing, I appreciate both (a) no empty cups in front of me, and (b) not wearing out my server with endless refills. I like to dine with the strategy of halfway filling up on bread, leaving half of my entree ready for lunch/dinner tomorrow, and of course, another loaf of bread. (I just wish the hapless servers would realize, after the third request for another loaf of bread, that it's not going to go to waste, and bring two for the two of us [see (b), above]. The service is generally spot on, though we have our favorites (Brooke! -- though now mostly confined to large parties and banquets) and a few we try to avoid when we are seated (won't name names, but you know who you are... D., E., and Server with Brown Hair who brought the gluten-laden desert tray despite being asked not to for the very reason of displaying the unattainable before our eyes. (Ah, yes, one of the manager chats of 'Dude, if we asked her nice, is it the 11th Commandment to bring out the desert tray?' The answer is no, by the by.) But we'll be back. Maybe in a few days, since we were just were there a few days ago.

I've dined at the Cattlemans in Folsom and it is always fantastic. For my 36 birthday I drove 40 miles to the Livermore Cattlemans with my family on 08/24/14. We waited 35 minutes to be seated, ordered and about 35 minutes later were told that the kitchens power was shutting off intermittently. Our server kept checking on our food and it didn't come out until about another 30/40 minutes later. I waited almost 2 hours for a Luke warm dry New York Steak, my son's steak was the same. I sent my birthday steak back and settled for the baked potato. The server did her best to apologize for the poor food as it was out of her hands. She did take the returned steak off my tab and did sing happy birthday but for my troubles I still dropped 40 dollars for the soft drinks and two cups of soup. Very disappointed in the experience. I gave them 1 star because of the server who tried to do her best.

If your a real "wild wild west" fan then the enviroment here may be right up your stall! It certainly was not my most memorable dinning experience either for atomosphere or service. We met some friends here on Sunday night because it was centrally located and we wanted steak. It was our first time at this restaurant and it will be our last. Two of us ordered mixed drinks which came out incorrect. We all agree that this was not the fault of our server, Kaitlin. She even was able to receit back to us without looking at her note pad, what was wrong with our drinks when we brought it to our attention. One of the drinks was the banana margarita. Instead of tequilla, Jimmie asked to have the margarita substituted for vodka. The drink was brought to us with a side of vodka in a tall shot glass. So, it was sent back to add the vodka into the banana margarita. Then two of the steaks had to be sent back because they were not cooked to the desired level. One of the two steaks had to be sent back 3 times! I guess these chef's need to be retrained as to what medium and medium well looks like. After the last time, Kaitin removed the steak from our bill. When the bill came, the two guys in our party split the bill and paid for it. Later but before leaving we reviewed the bill and realized that they charged us $6.50 for the vodka that was not included in the margarita. When it was brought to our waitress's attention she then argued that if you subsititue then you will be billed seperately? At no point was this ever mentioned and it doesn't really make sense. First, you brought to the table a non-acholic banana margarita and you didn't reduce the fee of that drink for omitting the tequilla. So, adding a cost of $6.50 for vodka substitute makes no sense. It's really not about the $6.50 but the prinicpal of the matter. Kaitlin our server was just as fustrated as we were with the items not coming out as ordered. However, when we brough the issue of the vodka to her attention at that point, it appeared she did not want to deal with it. She never came back to the table after the discussion and we left with no resolution. However, she was nice enough to tell us good bye as we left. How nice! I think addressing and resolving issues should be one of your priorities. I would not be writing this review if she would have addressed the final billing issue. A little customer service can go a long way. I think when throughout the night you have issues with items not being brought our correctly, I wouldn't argue with a patron over $6.50. EEK! We won't be back.

Have been here several times...mostly for their Monday Night Football $2 beef ribs! mmmmm....awesome. I am a big eater and I could only eat six! ;) Try their Tumbleweed Onions....a crunchy tumbleweed of thinly cut, lightly hand-battered, deep-fried onions $7.99. Pretty awesome! Have eaten at another Cattleman's in Roseville and the food was good there too!

First time at Cattlemans. The food was fabulous, the setting also. The only thing we found lacking was our waiter. We felt that we were a burden to him. Maybe he was busy or had to many tables to cover. Not real friendly, and slightly condensing. Lucky for us, we have a sense of humor. Maybe a bad night for him. We will make sure we don't have him again. We will try again and see how it goes. The sad part for him is that I tip big, so his was not.

We used Cattlemen's for our wedding rehearsal dinner. Gayla was very easy to work with, setting up our event. Cattlemen's had a ton of pre-made banquet menu's, but they were extremely flexible. My Fiance and I were able to hand pick several items off the menu that we liked, and Gayla put together a custom menu for us. We were seated in a separate seating room all to ourselves. All around, the food was excellent. Everything from the appetizers to dessert was delicious. I loved the rib eye, and everyone else loved their meals. We will definitely be going back to cattlemen's, and would recommend them for anyone trying to do a banquet meal.

friends were in town and they wanted to try this place, so we went along. the service was friendly and quick, place was cool i guess if you like meat. unfortunately my boyfriend and i dont eat meat, we had some salad and appetizers that was fine. portions were huge and the prices a little steep. we probably wouldn't be back unless friends wanted to go. all and all it was ok and we had fun with friends and thats what counts! a lil note... i know you guys want the texas feel with stuffed animals on the walls and all! i dont like seeing stuffed dead animals for decor any where but when your eating really is it necessary to have that!

This place has awesome garlic fries. They serve it as an appetizer and also as an add-on to meals. The ribs were huge and pretty good, a little bit dry, but nonetheless delicious. The portions are very generous and are reasonably priced. Expect a very hearty meal.

If you want good steak come here!! This is the best steak I have ever had in my life. The Artichoke cheesedip is a MUST!! The most delicious thing. The salad is always fresh and their salad dressings are so yummy. You can tell they mix and make it themselves no bottle stuff. The bread and butter is always off the hook and I can never stop eating it. Hot and fresh. Overall this place is amazing. You shouldnt be disappointed and if you are something is not right........with you.... =)

I am giving Cattlemens 5 stars based on the overall value of their food. When I say food at Cattlemens, I mean steaks. I never had anything here except for the steaks and I am never disappointed. Cattlemens offer the best steaks for the price. I usually go for the 2 lbs porterhouse which is 31.99 so it's about $1 dollar an ounce or the more flavorful, 20oz Ribeye. Both of them are good choice and great cuts of beef. I've never had a bad service at Cattlemens, all the staff are friendly and responsive. I have been to about 5 different Cattlemens locations and they all been excellent!!!

We went there yesterday and was very unimpressed!!!!!! The waitress was somewhat nice, but I asked for an extra well done steak, got a red steak. I mean which part of well done didn't they get? And the spices on the steak were too bland. The salad was wonderful, but it's just salad. And the fries were good. The steak was rare and the shrimps were slightly overcooked. For the amount of money we spent, I am sure there is another steakhouse we can go to and actually enjoy the food.

My Roomate and I had a date night and decided to grab sum Steak. Of course cattlemens has the best steaks around, right.... This place always has great food and I love this location. Our services was very prompt. If you don't make a reservation you can see yourself waiting for a while to get a table. But always worth the wait. This place is also great for company parties. I've managed to attend a few of them here. Two Thumbs Up!!

My husband adores this place. We moved up to the Bay Area from L.A. just over a year ago, and one of his first orders of business was to have dinner at Cattlemen's. Since then, we've been back more times than I can count. I've found that the food tends to be hit or miss, but I haven't gone wrong yet with the prime rib. Be sure to make reservations on weekends because the wait can be over an hour (not fun with two hungry, whiny kids). It's not a bad place for the family as it can be very LOUD--I probably wouldn't pick Cattlemen's for "date night" (that is, if you actually want to converse with your date). It's a big birthday/anniversary destination, so be prepared for the seemingly non-stop singing and yee-ha'ing of the staff. Gotta love the enormous drinks. The desserts are pretty standard and blah. I'm giving Cattlemen's three stars for lack of consistency, but it's a far better choice than Black Angus.

My husband and I really liked this place. Especially when we were heartbroken about having to pass on Texas Roadhouse in Tracy because the wait was too long and we just wanted to get home as soon as possible. Since we were hankering for steak and going through Livermore anyways, I figured this might be a good stand-in and that maybe it wouldn't be so crowded either, since its not in the Hacienda mess with the theater. I called ahead to check on their wait time - only 15 minutes vs. the 45+ at TRH - and they let me put my name on the list. When we showed up 10 minutes later, we were seated in a matter of minutes. You get a lot of yummy food for the price! My husband and I both ordered steak (duh), and they both were moist and tender and really flavorful. For a side I got a baked potato which was decent while my husband got the fries. Let me say this one thing, I am a fry snob. Don't mistake me, I don't have high standards - my favorite fries are at McDonald's or Wendy's - but I am very picky about what I like in a fry. In n Out? Barely passable. Wedge-cut, steak fries? Yuck. I am not a connoisseur or anything, but I like few restaurants' fries. I DO like Cattlemen's fries. They're the breaded style and are very crispy. Our server, Andrea, was excellent. She took great care of us and was on top of everything, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. There were a couple times when I asked her to get us drink refills, but it was one of those things where you could see her eyes taking in the glasses before I got the words out so I don't think asking was really necessary. We would definitely come back here! Maybe even on purpose, and not just because we're driving thru Livermore on the way to or from somewhere else...

So cherry picking season is back and actually, since I wrote this last review, I was craving it and went back after some strawberry picking on April 29 and more recently Memorial day weekend. Wow!! The service here has really stepped up. I don't know if they got new staff or just better training, but our waitress on both occasions were terrific and very sweet, I had even complimented the waitress directly along with the on duty manager of her superb service. The place was pretty packed on both times but the waitresses came out and checked on us pretty much every time she had to walk by either to serve other tables or what not. It was really nice. The food, as usual was really good. I had the prime rib which was pretty good and my husband had his usual motherlode burger. I really don't think this place can do you any wrong. It's just so nice to have a great meal after a fun day of fruit picking.

Cattlemens always hits the spot for me when I'm coming back from a long day snowboarding at tahoe. A nice size prime rib with a fully loaded potato and some crispy onion strings and extra au jus sauce on the side, thank you!

I love this steak house. Everytime I eat here, the steaks melt in my mouth and the taste is so good. I highly recommend this place for a reasonably priced great steak.

How can you go wrong with steak. This old west themed steak house is a favorite with my friends. Every time I've been here that they offered great service. I get my drink quick, they cook my steak right and for the amount of food you get it really isn't a bad deal. I would go here over Black Angus any day.

I love the beef ribs they are huge, I also love that cattleman's doesn't skimp on the portions! It is always a delight to eat here with the beer on tap flowing and the food tastes great! I highly recommend one of Livermore's best!!

Best steakhouse in the Livermore-Pleasanton-Dublin area. Casual/rustic atmosphere, generous portions, and excellent food. Their menu accomodates a wider range of dietary preferences than one would think for a steakhouse. We wish they were open for lunch and not just dinner!

    1. The true rating of this place is 4 stars, but with all of the negative reviews via the narcissistic folks who just don't understand what a steak place is all about, I just had to average things out a bit. 2. Folks, Cattlemens is a steakhouse... a Western / rustic style steakhouse. If you're looking to be pampered in a NY style steakhouse and sip some wine with your steak, please go to Morton's or Ruth Chris (both of which are great places as well). However, if you want to have a great steak, with great fixins, in a casual setting, and great service (everyone I've ever met at this place is just regular / unpretentious people), then forget the negative hype and check out Cattlemens.

I have to say I went in with hopes of finding a good steak joint, I left feeling slighted instead. It was my families first visit and after a 20 minute wait we were really ready for something to make our taste buds scream with satisfaction. Our appetizers were served cold and I'm sure the chicken strips at Jack in the Box use the same seasoning. Mozzarella could be judged other than to say the batter was heavy and tasteless. I could go on but cold just makes for gross... When our salad came and we saw the wilted lettuce we almost left, we probably should have. The prime rib at other tables looked good and maybe I should have tried that rather than our servers choice of a Porter House. Tasteless without the fat is the best way to describe the steak, shame since I've had the meat from the Harris Ranch. Good news, it was cooked pink thougjout, just as I like it. These guys really missed the mark for me and my family tonight, I doubt my son or daughter will ask for a return trip.

service was good but we waited for a while for the server to come and take our orders. my medium rare filet mignon was raw in the inside and crispy on the outside it was bland and dry not what i expected for a $27 steak. baby back ribs were extra dry and uninteresting. i doubt we would return here again, exorbitantly priced for mere mediocre food.

Great tender prime rib, awesome service! You can't leave there hungry unless you just went into the saloon for drinks.

Great Steak House. I suggest the "Cowboy RibEye". But the last time I ate at a Cattlemens, I had the Prime Rib, "Cattlemen's Cut". THey serve it to you on a sizzling hot platter & dipped in Au Jus. The Grilled bacon-wrapped shrimp as an appetizer is to die for and their twice baked potato is delicious. I also love the fact that they grill their steaks over an open flame, not on a griddle. I've eaten at the Dixon, Newark and Livermore locations and I rave about Cattlemen's anytime someone asks for a good Steak House.

I had some pretty low expectations coming here - thankfully they were met! Friday night, almost 8 pm, and no wait. My mom wanted to come here for her birthday. I definitely heard some yee-haw birthday singing in the background, but we didn't ask for such personalized service. I was relatively satisfied with the salad that comes with the meal. Everyone shares out of a metal mixing bowl, enough for two helpings each, and each person gets their own little boat of dressing. I had a filet mignon medium - thank goodness it was slightly on the rare side. I wish I had taken pictures - they add huge leaves of parsley that take up about half the plate, quite a humorous sight. My parents each had sirloin with shrimp scampi. The shrimp was completely overcooked and by far the toughest I had ever eaten. Somehow we had some room for dessert and shared the cowpie brownie sundae. They come around with a plastic dessert tray, and the real thing didn't look as good. I enjoyed the barn-like atmosphere.

In town for a quick business trip and tried this since I read a number of reviews. Actually ate in the bar area, so can't report on the restaurant itself. As others stated ... it is a steak house, not a fancy place. Had the prime rib -- good portion, cooked just right. Go for the horseradish. It will set you straight. If in the area and wanting beef, I'd go back

This is a STEAK HOUSE!! It's all about the meat. I love the fact that Cattlemen's gets their meat from Harris Ranch, just down I-5. The service is friendly (if a bit inexperienced!) and helpful. The side dishes are very good, too.

Great place to go with kids. Loud enough to not bother other diners and not be bothered by other kids. Great deal on kids meals if you buy their T-Shirts and bring them each time, your kids eat free. Great steaks, good salad dressing, great bread, beans and sweat potato.

Wife, baby, and I were in town for the week and stopped by for dinner. Wife was in the mood for some meat...steak! We arrived for an early dinner and were promptly seated. We had the baby asleep in her carseat, so they let us sit in a quieter booth. Our server, Katie, showed up and quickly took our order. Steaks we're fantastic. We were initially skeptical because this is a chain restaurant, however, what will make us come back every time we are in the area is the quality of service. Cheerful, friendly, and competent staff! Unfortunately we only remember Katie from our first dining experience, but she made an impression on us. If only more restaurants down here in SoCal were like this.... --------------------- edit: was questioned about calling this a chain restaurant...according to their website: Welcome to Cattlemens Cattlemens is a casual, western-themed steakhouse chain. Founded in 1968 by a father-son team with decades of experience in the cattle business, eight locations now serve California. Still family-owned and operated, each location follows the "Cattlemens Code," offering the feel and flavor of the old west, aged and hand-cut beef, the finest ingredients, and old-fashioned Western hospitality. Serving generous portions and all-natural Harris Ranch beef, Cattlemens is always in good taste.

This is the second time that I've been to Cattlemen's. The first time I went was probably sometime in March or April of this year. A friend was having her birthday dinner here. I think I was overwhelmed with the choices of things to order and didn't really like what I had in the first place. Present time, my boss and his wife almost always go here on Wednesday nights for their $9.99 steak special. I always thought it was a prime rib, but it's actually a sirloin steak for that price. The boyfriend and I thought it sounded good after a long day at work, so we rounded up our three mini divas and headed over. I was contemplating on getting another steak, because the boyfriend said I probably wouldn't really like the sirloin strip. But I decided to go with it anways, ordered it medium with an upgrade of garlic fries. He ordered the same thing, except with mashed potatoes. Two of the mini divas ordered chicken strips and french fries, the other ordered mac n cheese and french fries. We also ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer. All dinner entrees come with bread and with salad that is served family style, so everyone can have some. Everything was delicious! I actually really liked the sirloin steak and the garlic fries with ranch were delicious! I had a taste of the boyfriend's mashed potatoes and they were really good as well. We ordered the Cowpie (brownie with ice cream on top) for dessert, but couldn't finish it because we were all so full. The special was a great deal. We'll definitely be back at Cattlemen's again!

I've been a regular at this place since the late 90's and as with any restaurant experience, it varies from time to time. Isolated incidents shouldn't be the basis for a rating of a restaurant... Consistency should be. Most of the meals I've enjoyed here have been excellent, the steaks are well prepared, and service is friendly and prompt. Of the few time I have had an issue with an order, the wait, or anything else, the staff has been quick to apologize and set things right. Dumb asses who TAKE THEIR STEAK HOME, should understand that a steak CONTINUES TO COOK while it is on the plate. Anyone who has baked cookies or spent any time in the kitchen should understand that the retained heat doesn't just magically disappear. People who order a steak for take out are already not playing with a full deck (Michelle F...) so you know, the place opens at 5:00 and lying about the management is a bit much for an issue you created; it's kind of sad. (MIchelle F, again...) The food is about on par for the price, the atmosphere is set appropriate for the image the place presents, booths are a private experience. If you are looking for a STEAK HOUSE with friendly and prompt service, Cattlemans delivers consistently!

I've been going to this place for years and though they don't always get things right they will always make it right. Most of the serving staff are friendly and attentive and their selection of preparations is good. My wife is not a beef eater but she never has a problem finding something she likes (and she doesn't always order the same thing).

I was really disappointed. I haven't been here in years. I remember really enjoying the qualify of food and atmosphere. I still like the country theme and the country music but the food has gone south -- and not just for the winter. The icing on the cake for me was getting boxed mashed potato's on my plate. That sealed the deal and I won't return. Upside: All you can eat salad, bread and baked beans with your meal. Actually, that was probably the most palliable thing we ate. Well, except for the roasted artichoke; but even that was hard in the center and obviously cooked days before we ordered it.

I have been coming here at least 1x a week for the last 3 years. Meat is typically not my fav, but met a beautiful waitress named Stacy and we were hooked!! We always try to get her and when we do, it is magical for the rest of the evening. She knows the entire order down to the kids and our drinks. She is full of spunk and we just love her!!! All the other staff there are also excellent- Andrew , Jen and Stephanie . Front desk gals are also fantastic, ESP Angeline, food, not great but good. It's the service people!! Drinks are perfect, never watered down!

On a recent roadtrip to SF, we got stuck in terrible traffic on the way home to LA. We ended up getting a hotel in Livermore and stumbled upon Cattlemens for dinner. As I entered the restaurant, I expected your typical mid-range steakhouse. Truth be told, it's not that far off. The decor is a western/cowboy motif, the atmosphere is casual and the menu is basically steaks and bbq. What separates this place from others is that the portions are very generous and the steaks are top notch. The steaks here are more comparable to Ruth's Chris (which I frequent often) and Morton's rather than Outback or Black Angus. I noticed a few reviews that mention the prices being high. Really if you compare the quality of food and the portions, they are actually quite reasonable. I think a cowboy ribeye here is about $30 and includes salad and sides. At Ruth's Chris, that same steak is $50 ala carte. Of course the atmosphere is completely different, but there are many time where I'd rather relax in a more casual environment. I must also mention that they also have a very cheap small bite menu. I'm not sure if this is only offered in the bar/lounge, but it is ridiculously cheap. My kids both pieced together a humongous meal for about $10. If they had Cattlemens in the LA area, I'd be a more regular customer.

Massive price but massive portions. The appetizers are great. For sure get the potato skins or the tumbleweed onions. You can't go wrong. As for the entrees, I ordered the 9oz prime rib. I like how you can tell that they use some decent quality beef but somebody in the kitchen messed up my order. I wanted medium rare, not medium well. Servers were wonderful. They were friendly and attentive. Sometimes I wondered how they do it every day...running around the floor carrying massive trays of food to hungry customers. Anyway, I like their service. In short: Good food, service is great, I may be back.

Last night we decided to go to Cattlemen's for a nice family dinner.. Now let me start with my steak was perfect and i was happy! but my husband was not nor were my twin boys. We waited for over and hour and thought this better be worth it. We started with potato skins which were burnt and stuffed with stale bacon which tired out my jaw real quick and they had no flavor. Needless to say it wasn't, one of my sons is a spicy freak so he wanted the buffalo wings and he said "it tastes like BBQ sauce with hot sauce mixed in and he was not a fan this place sucks." My other twin ordered a half rack of baby back ribs and said "its fatty and tough" so he didn't finish it. Now for my hubby he got a New York steak and he ordered it Medium rare.. It was raw like when you cut in to it the middle was like a deep red color and there wasn't much flavor to it. he had to ad salt which isn't like my husband. he was so unhappy that he said we will never be back. Now I ordered a drink called the California Smash and that was just down right disgusting. All in all we won't be back i can cook better then this..

I did not come here to get a free meal. But, if it's free it must be pretty bad. We were told that the tomatoes in the ALL YOU CAN EAT salad were rationed to two per person. We got one. I guess that's all you can eat. We waited 45 min with nothing but excuses about the printer jamming. That might excuse the time but the printer didn't cook the food poorly. The onion rings that topped the steak were greasy soggy and cold. The beans were cold and they replaced them with cold beans. The staff avoided the problem and seemed not to care. The manager claims that they are a great neighborhood restaurant. But in my experience they continue time after time to fall short. Maybe it's time for a management change.

several glasses of wine, a 13 oz slab of prime rib, and some of the loveliest dinner guests ever = a top notch review! our server was attentive and hospitable, however their STRAIGHT horseradish is NO JOKE! felt like they smothered my genitals in wasabi and stomped on them! whooo.. cleared my allergies right up

For some reason the Cattleman's off of I-80 near Sacramento tastes better...?? All-in-all...just another mediocre steak house...a mediocre chain steak house that does NOT live up to it's sister properties.

This place is awesome. The steak is well seasoned and the bread with butter is awesome. I love getting the ribeye medium rare, no steak sauce needed! The service is prompt and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone!

Admittedly I was a bit ahead of the dinner crowd as I was still on east coast time but was seated immediately and my server, Crystal, was right there for my drink order and offered the specials of the day. I'm on a low carb diet Crystal understood my needs. I got the Monday prime rib special with broccoli - both cooked perfectly ( and honestly broccoli is tricky). The Cattlemen's is short of fine dining but is priced right, food is excellent and the service was prompt and attentive without being hurried. I would go again.

Our Family took Irma and I here for our Anniversary. The food was very tasty (all of it) and you are given very generous portions. I had a Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey Iced Tea and that was also very good. The desserts were very large and yet again, very tasty. Service was standard, but they were also busy on this Saturday afternoon.

Never disappointed when I go to Cattlemen's Restaurant. All around the BEST service, food, atmosphere, etc. Love how kid friendly they are, the waitress and waiters are awesome, and the manager, Nancy, ROCKS!!! The last two times I visited Cattlemen's I had the Chicken Teriyaki and their Prime Rib. YUM! As I stated in the beginning of my review, never disappointed.

First: A quick note to Yelper Jennifer F.: Who in their right mind orders a filet mignon WELL DONE??!! Instead you should have ordered a well-done roast and asked for the "end cut" instead. Filets are designed to be eaten blood rare! Seriously! Anyway...my wife and I decided to try the Cattlemen's Restaurant one more time - our last vist was about 11 years ago, and now I remember WHY it's been soooo long! First: Their sourdough bread was to die for - it was beyond fantastic!! The "endless salad" was a nice idea even though it was only comprised of greens, a few (like 3 or 4) baby tomatoes and a few slices (again, like 3 or 4) of cucumbers and nothing more. Okay...not an issue, but when we each asked for additional salad dressing, we were told that there would be an extra 50-cent charge. C'MON!!!!! Really?! So we just ate one small bowl of salad only because it was the principle of the thing! For an appetizer, we decided to try their "tumblewood onion." We've had this same appetizer (sometimes known under a differnt name) at other restaurants in the past and they've been pretty good overall. Well, this appetizer TASTED like a tumblewood that had been out in the dirty desert for several years. We each tried a few and they were so nasty that neither one of us could eat them! The only reason we ordered this particular appetizer was because our server kept insisting we get them - that they were by far " the specialty of the house" in her words. We put them aside at the edge of the table and when the server walked by our table a short time later, we asked her to take them away because they "just weren't memorable," and were just too gross and greasy to eat. She seemed to take the comment personally and made a comment to the effect that "everyone else raves about them." That's probably not the most appropriate response she could have given a customer. A more appropriate response might have been to apologize and ask if she could bring us another batch to try OR offer a different appetizer. NOPE - didn't happen, and we were charged about $8.00 for them which was sad since my wife and I each only ate one small bite of them. I might add that the couple sitting in an adjacent booth felt the same way we did. We both ordered their prime rib BLOOD RARE. It was tough, chewy and we've had better quality prime rib at Carrows restaurant. Then again...it could have been the poor quality of the beef they serve? They weren't juicy and they lacked flavor. The baked potatoes were good sized, but were barely luke-warm at best. We opted not to try any of their desserts for fear of what the quality would be. Anway...our bill came to $63 and some change, which under the circumstances was quite pricey for the quality of the food which we were served and the rude service we received. Guess we'll continue to go the Black Angus in Dublin, as they offer a far better value for the dollar!

My friends had their rehearsal dinner for their wedding here and I was totally shocked at how great it was. We had a "barn" to ourselves, complete with private wait staff. There were about 20 of us and they had the tables set up in a giant U shape, which was really intimate and nice. The waiter was funny and kind, and kept the drinks coming all night. The food was delicious. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the New York. The all you can eat salad, sour dough bread, and desserts were also fantastic. I was very impressed and would recommend this as a place to hold your special event.

So disappointed in this place and I'll tell you why. Three times, I've ordered a steak - New York and Filet in variety and all three times the steak was overcooked. I asked for medium-rare, I got medium-well to well done. The first two times, I was eating in the restaurant, and the steak was returned. The third time, I ordered a New York to go, drove 10 minutes home and it was WAY overdone. Not even close to correct temp. This is the time I'm going to reference for this review because it was the worst. My husband and I sat at the bar for happy hour with appetizers and drinks and had very good service - the drinks were good, the service was prompt and the appetizers were tasty. We then decided to get some meals to-go and took them home. Once I got home, I discovered that my steak was overcooked so I called and politely asked to speak to a manager. I was immediately disconnected after I was put on hold. That could have been an accident. I called back and mentioned I was disconnected and asked again to speak to a manager. The person I was speaking to ended up being the manager. Great! I'm off to a good start. Or so I thought. I explained that my steak was overcooked, and that it was the third time I had been in there and received an overcooked steak so I wasn't sure what the best course of action was. I said that I had driven all the way home and preferred not to go back that evening if possible. The manager asked for my name and number and my method of payment so she could track the order and get back to me. She called me back within a few minutes and said the following, "Well, I spoke with my kitchen manager who cooked your steak and he assures me that it was cooked perfectly, but I guess if you say it wasn't..." The tone was slightly sarcastic and there was no apology at all. I offered to show her the steak if she wanted and she immediately dismissed that by saying "The steak will have changed color by the time you get here anyway so that doesn't do me any good. We can't reimburse you since you paid in cash but we can give you a credit for the meal if you want." Again, the tone was dismissive and she sounded like she was bored with the conversation. Again, no apology at all. So much for the customer being right. I said "Ok. Can I pick that up tomorrow?" She said "You can pick it up after 5. My name is Nancy." And she hung up. No "Sorry for that," or "See you tomorrow," or even "good bye." Having been in the restaurant business, I was really disappointed with the bad customer service from a MANAGER no less. We redeemed our credit at the bar a week later and, again, had very good service at the bar from another bartender who was really cool. Sorry if I forgot your name, guy. I only seem to remember names of crappy service people- my bad.

Went here for Mother's day around 3:30pm. Let me tell you that the food was amazing. And the portions are big so I enjoyed my leftovers for lunch the next day! Our table of 3 ordered salads so we were giving a big bowl of salad to share. The waitress even refilled it for free. The beans were amazing. My entree was the triple threat brochette and I was not disappointed! The dish was accompanied by savory mash potatoes. I am drooling thinking about this plate. Too bad the one in Newark closed! This one is quite a drive. But I will be back.

I have now driven past Cattleman's every day since the day it was built...seriously. Well unless you discount the days I am on vacation. I have always wanted to eat there but since I am not a big red meat eater I've always avoided it. The other night my friend and I went and walked away very satisfied with the meal, service, and home on the range interior. We both ordered the petite six ounce filet mignon. It was cooked perfectly and we both ate every bite even though six ounces might be too big still. I couldn't finish the baked potato or even the garlic fries as I filled up on great tasting Harris Ranch beef. It was reminiscent of rafting trips past on the Cache Creek eating those enormous baked potatoes and my friend Erin S. saying 'This is SO good..mmmm...I just can't stop eating'. There is also an 'all you can eat' salad but I wasn't too impressed. Just seemed like an enormous batch was prepared in the morning and every meal was served from that. Kinda bland and the lettuce was wilting on the plate and not crispy fresh at all. On a side note they do have a meal for two with an appetizer, two choices of entree including the petite filet, salmon, and a few others, plus two desserts. This still comes with the salad and potatoes, bread, bowl of beans etc for $57. We ordered ala carte and our bill was $52 The only thing different was we didn't get dessert. So this is a great deal only if you really think you'll have room for the dessert. PS...You may want to avoid that little bowl of beans they serve in a mini cast iron pot. Woooeeeee

I miss the cattlemans that used to be next to my house in Newark, but they closed down. I never knew they had one here in Livermore until my friend took me here last weekend. Got here before the dinner rush and right off the back, our waitress looked like she was NOT enjoying her job. She was still being courteous and helpful, but she just had that look on her face like she wanted to jump off of a bridge! Smile, joke around with the customers, make them feel comfortable please... I ordered the prime rib (medium rare) with lobster tail and baked potato. Lobster tail was average, prime rib was just OK (parts of it was chewy), and the potato...well, its a potato! lol My experience here wasn't how I used to remember it while growing up, and the food wasn't all that great. My buddie had the ribeye and said it was good, but he tried ordering one of their specialty drinks on the menu (something with makers mark), and they said they were all out, and they still charged us for the drink! wtf?! After telling our waitress that we never received that drink, she was kind enough to remove it. All in all, I can't say I love this place any more :(

Came here on a Saturday night after a job we had nearby. The parking lot was full so we figured it must be good. They said the wait was 40 min for two so we sat in the bar. I got the steak & shrimp and the BF got Pete's Special. It came with a huge salad, bread, beans, and I got a baked potato the BF got a twice baked potato. The steak and shrimp was SO GOOD! The shrimp especially delicious. The boyfriend really liked his steak with the cattlemans bbq & steak sauce. His twice baked potato was nasty. We paid $1.99 extra for that thing and it was gross. Service was kind of slow but they were super busy. Overall we enjoyed our meal and I'm glad we chose to eat there. I wouldn't drive to Livermore for it though that's for sure!

Just a good simple place to go in and get a good steak. All selections from prime rib, ribs, rib eye and filet mignon. All you can eat salad was nice (simple-lettuce, tom, onions, croutons, choice of dressing). Servers were all paced & on top of it for us as there were 6 of us. We did make a reservation but were late by 1/2 hr & they accommodated us, but it was Thurs. But there were still quite a bit of people there. Had our rib eye ordered medium and they nailed it. Baked potato with the beans were yummy. We shared the deep fried apple pie but Grandpa really enjoyed it so much! We had a nice dinner where there was something for everyone.

I heard a lot of great things about this place, so when my buddy said he wanted to go, I eagerly agreed. Walking in, the place looked promising. The girls up front were a little snobby, but as long as the steak is good, I'm okay. Got myself a drink... Captain and Coke. The drink was pretty weak, I started to worry. We sat down, and we both knew the prime rib was the way to go. "Sizzling" because it comes on a hot plate. First up was the bread and salad. The bread was very sour and not warm. Pass! The salad came in a big metal bowl, unmixed, and you have to serve yourself. Okay... not THAT bad. Just be a good steak please!!! I ordered a medium rare to medium steak. I know that it cooks some more on the plate. I expected the steak to come out more medium rare so it cooks to more medium. It comes out looking like it had sat under the heat lamp for an hour. I cut into the steak, and it was just as I feared... medium well!!! I did my best to try and finish it. Not going to let 18ozs of prince rib go to waste!!! The final straw was at the very end. I asked for a to go cup of coke. He said they were out of to go cups, but could give me a child's cup if I really wanted it. *sigh* Don't see myself coming back here again!

The food was good and I liked I could get seating for a party of 15 last minute...although I wish the service was better. At every milestone of my dinner I was wondering where my waitress was. One thing I have to give them props for was they accommodated our payment of the bill and made it easy for all of us who did not bring cash. I would definitely go back again, just maybe with less people.

No problem with the service. Friendly and attentive. The food, different story. I remember it being a great steak place and was extremely disappointed when I went back. Ordered the steak and lobster with a glass of wine. Had to send the wine back since the glass was dirty with lipstick on it. Steak was ok, a lot of fat on the edges that turned it into a small steak after I cut all the fat off. Lobster was rubbery, not the greatest. Honestly disappointed with this place.

The wait-staff is friendly and prompt around 9p, and the t-bone steak would have been acceptable if "medium-well" didn't come out rare. But the atmosphere... if your olfactory glands don't work too well, it won't bother you, but it smells stale, like old vomit. I suspect they haven't washed the carpet in a *very* long time (and accomplishing this feat would require a hazardous waste permit).

Food was ok, but I asked for Medium and it came well done. Older décor and seats needed repair. Holidays require reservations for sure in advance.

This is a great place if you're looking for a pretty good $20 meal. I have eaten here several times and each time the food has been good and the service has been there to match. Sometimes during the evenings and weekends there is a bit of a wait, but if you make a reservation ahead of time it's not too bad. Actually the wait to be seated shows how good the place is. People would not be willing to wait if the place wasn't of good quality.

Great thing about Cattlemens is you know you won't be whining about paying a big bill and leaving hungry. Beef portions and sides are unreasonably large but reasonably priced, and they're all consistently good. Wild West theme is in full effect, many patrons actually don the Wranglers and cowboy boots...oh, that might be their normal attire. Bring your Texas-sized appetite, pardner! Also a surprisingly good spot to bring the young'uns.

Cattlemen's is the place if your craving some seriously steak. I love the 2lb Sheriff steak, beard rolls, and unlimited salad. I really wish the one in Newark never closed down... cause I hate driving all the way over to Livermore... but its worth it. love the bbq sauce. Service can be a little better... but its not the worse.

Great food, popular place, have eaten there dozens of times and never had a bad meal, Waite staff seems spread a little thin, plastic mugs seem cheap for a nice steak house. Nice interior, all and all a nice dinning experience

Came here for a birthday dinner a few weeks back. It was very cozy feeling being there. The waitresses were very personable and friendly. The food was very good, so I have no complaints about the food at all. In face I have no complaints at all about my experience here. This is definitely a meat and potato place. Next time we are in town we will probably stop in again.

3.5 Stars.. ..I've had more good experiences than bad, so I shall round up. This is my families designated birthday dinner spot. This group consists of 8-10 people, so I have come not to expect the greatest service, which normally we don't get. The many times I've come here as a couple, though, the service is great. I used to get the salmon most of the time, but once I had 3-4 times in a row of burnt tasting salmon, I moved on... I've tried most of the different kinds of meat they have, and have all been fairly good. I can never seem to get the meat cooked right (medium is too cooked, medium rare is too rare). Either way, a nice experience and a hearty meal!

Oh my goodness! One of the best steaks I've had in years! And the best service thanks to our server Brooke! Never once did I have to ask for refill, and she was so fast with food. Super accomidating! I will definitely be back and hope I get Brooke again!

Yay for $2 ribs! I've been several times, had the $2 ribs, had meals...it was always good. The service is good, the prices are good, the food is good...need I say more? Yay for Monday tonight...we'll be there!

5 stars for service...the hostess reported a 15-20 min wait time...actual wait time was 19 min. After enjoying our appetizer & fresh garden salad I suddenly did not feel well and asked my boyfriend to get the rest of our dinner to go. Our waitor Joe was very nice and accomodating with our request, packed it go super quickly at the same time ran our bill and away we went. 4 stars for their garden salad, beans and half rack of pork ribs.

Went here for dinner after a long day trip of snowboarding at Bear Valley. I enjoyed a perfect day of snowboarding, so what could be better than some steak as the cherry on top of my day!? Nothing! We stopped by Cattlemens in Livermore on the way back home to the bay area. Inside it was completley old west themed with buffalo skin rugs on the walls and carriage wheels and haystacks all over. I ordered the Pete's Special, which has been their most popular item for 40+ years so I figured I couldn't go wrong! A medium rare cooked 10 oz sirloin arrived at my table with a side of an endless salad with ranch! It looked great and tasted even better. I think the steak here is pretty awesome and it costs less than even chilis and dennys and those places serve some pretty bad steak! If your comming home from a snowboarding trip, definitely drop by Cattlemens to for some awesome grubbin!

BEFF RIBS: OH HOW I MISSED THE NEWARK LOCATION Growing up in the Tri-City area of the East Bay I would pass by Cattlemens in Newark. I never really ate here that often. The times I've eaten here I've order items such as "The Sheriff", a two pound sirloin, Cattlemen's Cut, which is a one pound cut of prime rib, and a two pound porterhouse - all the cooked to my preference rare. Several years ago I started going to the Newark location almost every Monday night for one reason - $1 beef ribs. With that price you can make a meal of it. You can pay $10 for 10 beef ribs and you can be full. My cousins and I would order so many ribs we would take them home to eat at lunch. I always assumed the Newark location would remain open for a long time not only because it has been there since my childhood but also of these ribs. When I found out that the Newark location would be closed I felt saddened. About three weeks ago my high school friends and I had dinner at the Livermore location. My friend ordered the beef ribs. However I just came from family friend's party. I wasn't hungry but after seeing my friend ordered the full rack of beef ribs I knew one of these days when I come back to Cattlemen's I would order the beef ribs. That came last Thursday night after work. I drove to the Livermore location with intent to order beef ribs ONLY. I did make one request and that was to have the salad served right with the ribs. (I eat salad at the end of the meal as it helps with my digestion - I know too much information.) The dinner also comes with hot sourdough bread. What makes great bread not only is it hot but also crunchy on the outside and moist in the inside. The sourdough bread is so addicting at Cattlemen's that you don't need appetizers. I wasn't planning to order any appetizers or side orders. Yet when I saw the honey-chipotle grilled corn for $2 per ear I decided to order one corn. (I thought the corn would be slightly spicy but it was delightfully sweet.) For dessert I also ordered the deep fried apple pie with vanilla ice cream drizzled in Maker's Mark caramel sauce. The main dish was the full rack of beef ribs. The full rack of beef ribs consisted of eight ribs. After seeing those Flintstones-size ribs I was giddy with joy to take my first bite. After I took my first bite this brought me back memories of when I was at Newark on Monday nights during football season. Food is sentimental. Each bite of these ribs reminded me those great times I had with my cousins at the Newark location. On those Monday nights at Newark I would eat between 15 or 20 ribs however on Thursday night I could only eat half of the rack. The other half I would take them to work to eat for lunch. After my beef ribs dinner meal I felt more than satisfied. The drive after work was worth it for these ribs. Are these the best ribs I ever had? No. Then why the five-star rating? The price of a full rack of beef ribs meal, that includes the all you can salad and free hot sourdough bread, is under $23. This is cheaper than the full rack of baby back pork ribs at Cattlemens. That's a steal of a price because at a steakhouse or a barbeque joint you normally don't get a quality meal of under $23. In addition I've been told at barbeque joints that beef ribs aren't served because they're expensive. Well if you go to Cattlemen's you don't have to worry about that. In addition these beef ribs are much better than the beef ribs served in Chinese buffets because the sauce at the Chinese buffets is soupy. In terms of California agriculture all beef from Cattlemen's are Harris Ranch raised. As Californians we boast that we have great food products such produce, seafood, and wine yet we should be proud of our California beef. Even though I'm sad the Newark location was closed the beef ribs gave me an excuse in the future to go the Livermore location. I will make the drive to the Livermore location at least once or twice a year. Maybe the next time I go is on a Monday night during football season to enjoy eating the filling, Flintstones-size beef ribs.

My boyfriend and I stopped by because I actually had a hankering for steak. Upon entrance we weren't greeted by the host(s). We approached their podium and were greeted with awkward stares as if we interrupted their conversation. After a few seconds of awkward staring we greeted ourselves and asked for a table. Luckily our waitress was pretty awesome and made up for the awkward entrance. I like the intimate ambiance, the booths make you feel like you're not among a bunch of other people. They can accommodate larger groups though since I remember coming here once with a party of over 10. For starters, we ordered their mozzarella crescents which were heaven. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and warm to the touch. Same with the bread, hot and melted the butter on contact. I ordered the medium rare filet mignon with crab and rice. The filet mignon was grilled to order and practically vanishes in your mouth. It was tender, juicy, and just about the best thing on my plate. I don't know if it's how steamed crab just turns out, but mine was pretty salty. I could only get through a couple legs before having to stop to drink a glass of water. Their rice pilaf was the least appetizing of all, it was dry and had a weird, almost artificial taste. My boyfriend ordered the steak sirloin along with a skewer of shrimp and mashed potatoes. He also ordered baked beans which came in a cute miniature pot. The beans weren't anything to rave for, they were kind of bland in my opinion. He said he liked everything else though. Overall nothing extravagant or anything to rave about. I'm happy with the steak but everything else was pretty lackluster. Perhaps I'll order something else next time.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!!! Spent 80$$$ and the quality of meat was NOT up to par. I requested medium ribeye n got medium rare. The beef ribs were poor quality so I traded it in for baby back ribs. The baby backs we not that much better. I was not impressed..! The only thing that was good was the fresh hot sourdough breads that come with ur 20$+ plates. This place is no better than black Angus. And even black Angus sucks now of days. I Vote NO on this place! DON'T DO IT!!!! Even my 5 year step daughter didn't like her mashed potatoes.!! Good staff. Good steaks. Bad ribs. Bad cooks who under cook me 28$ steak

I'd been meaning to try Cattlemens for a while, and I jumped at the chance when I had a craving for steak and was running errands in the Livermore area. The restaurant itself has a rustic, intimate feel to it, and I really like the rows of booth seating located in the back. For some reason, the layout just gives a really nice sense of privacy, and I rather enjoyed winding my way back between tables. Cattlemens and I got off to a slightly rocky start when I walked through the entrance meant for just the bar area. I stood for a few minutes by the door while waiters bustled around and the bartender's eyes seem to slide right over me. When I ventured up to the bar to ask for a table, I was curtly told "You're in the wrong area. Go through the other doors." It felt a little dismissive to me, but I decided to stay and see how the rest of the meal went. Service was a bit spotty throughout the entire meal, and it took a long time for waters to be refilled and salad (although I love that it's bottomless!) to be replenished. Sourdough bread and butter: ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) I'm not a huge fan of sourdough in general, but I was a little disappointed that the bread came cold. Of course I appreciate that this is complimentary, but cold bread just feels a little lacking, especially when paired with cold butter that it cannot melt. Bottomless salad: ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) I adored this option, and while I understand some people aren't big fans of iceberg lettuce, I thought the toppings made this salad one of the best I've had. The cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and sliced onions were all incredibly fresh on top of the crisp iceberg lettuce. I didn't have any of the croutons, but my dining partner also said they were freshly savory. Surf and turf: 8oz sirloin and half a pound of Alaskan crab legs: ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) The sirloin was decent, although it veered a little towards the medium side of medium rare. It is a rather smaller piece of meat though, so I didn't mind it too much. The Alaskan crab legs were prepared conveniently for breaking apart, but the meat itself bordered on overcooked and stuck to the sides of the shell. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes, which weren't too creamy and had small chunks of potato to add texture. T-bone steak with side of rice: ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) Side of beans: ( yelp.com/user_local_phot… ) This steak was cooked better than the sirloin, perhaps because it was larger and harbored a bone inside. It was a perfect medium rare, and grill marks were very aesthetically pleasing. The rice, on the other hand, was probably my least favorite part of the meal. It was some sort of wild rice medley, and the taste was akin to plastic.. I enjoyed the beans much more, not least because they were presented in a cute contraption. The beans tasted freshly made and were well-seasoned, with their mealy texture complementing the steak quite well. I was so stuffed by the end of the meal that there was no room for dessert, so it made the fact that we weren't even offered a dessert menu a little less disappointing. I'd be interested in giving Cattlemens another try if I'm ever in the area, but I'll make sure to walk through the correct entrance next time.

Hmmmm...started out with a huge plate of crisp thin onion rings and a very fresh bottomless iceberg lettuce salad with cherry tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers and croutons. I was excited to see an herb crusted rack of lamb on the menu. Came out medium rare, as requested but by the time I finished one chop, the remaining chops were dry, chewy and severly overcooked. It needed to come out of the oven sooner (the bones were burnt) and left to rest. A little sauce would have been nice. My baked potato not only was undercooked, but had that reheated taste and texture, it was not light and fluffy and no amount of butter and sour cream was gonna change that. Hubby's sirloin steak was chewy and fatty and the lobster was just okay. On rhe plus side, our server was attentive and our glasses were kept full.

This Cattlemens location is alright. We went here after shopping in the Livermore Outlets (or San Francisco Premium Outlets, former Paragon Outlets). I ordered a Filet Mignon in Medium Rare because it's a small steak, so it's cooked pretty fast. However, I still received like a Medium steak. I also asked for mushrooms and onions on the steak, but the woman misunderstood me and got the tumbleweed onions and mushroom with spinach (appetizers). We just ignored it and paid for it. It also took a while to receive our order.

Loved it! And I don't like meat. I had the grilled shrimp and husband had the salmon. I like the design of the booths. They have a semi private feel and although the place was large and busy, I could hear/understand everyone at our table. Kids loved the activity books.

I usually sit in a restaurant but because I was by myself this evening I sat in the bar. The food as usual was very tasty and very filling I enjoyed it completely. The bartender that was on tonight was very efficient had lots of smiles but was very firm and in charge. I saw a gentleman coming to place a to go order and she told him to go see the hostess even know he said that he has ordered to go food from the bar previously. He was obviously distraught and walked out so they lost a customer this evening.

Best steakhouse we've been too in a long time. We sat in the bar because we were starving & did not want to wait to be seated. I had the prime rib sandwich & the hubby had the ribs appetizer, as my meal was large enough to split. Sitting @ the bar actually ended up a perfect solution as the service was actually great & the food!!!!! I can't say enough about how tasty everything was. I literally did not need to even bother dipping it in to the au jus as it was so tasty & tender on its own. Highly recommend!!!!!

I came here with my friends on a Sunday after a weekend of backpacking up at Kennedy Lake near Sonora. It is safe to say that we were hungry and thirsty. Luckily I called ahead for a reservation to make sure a table would be ready when we arrive. It's a good thing I did because the place was packed. We ended up getting there early (about 15 min or so), and they would not seat us until our reservation time was up. Which wasn't a problem, because it let us look over the menu so we could decide what we want before we sit down. My friend and I ended up splitting a whole rack of baby back pork ribs. These had to be the worst ribs I have ever had. They were nowhere near fall of the bone tender. They were dry and extremely chewy. If you fed them to a dog I doubt it would want to eat it. Such a shame, since I was so looking forward to good ribs after our trip. Our meal was supposed to come with some beans, which never came. We ended up getting an order of their chipotle corn, which was surprisingly good. Their sourdough bread is to die for! It had a nice crust on the outside and was soft and warm on the inside. A few of us at the table ordered the strawberry lemonade ($4), which comes with free refills. They put it in a beer stein, but unfortunately fill up the entire stein with ice. So it was real easy to finish it because there wasn't much in the glass. Service was decent, but unfortunately the entree was not good. Which is why I am giving it 2 stars.

First order of the ribs burned....to a nasty crisp!! Then the 2nd set are cold! Cold ribs and cold sauce. The people are nice but the food sucks. Not coming back....ever! Waste of time and money! The manager took a lot off the tab....they tried to make it right but they gotta get some new cooks. They get 3 stars for trying to fix it.

Cattlemen's is a small chain with eight locations in the West. If you staying in the hotel row area of Livermore, this is an easy place to get to. The food is pretty good, but I don't remember anything amazing about it. The steak was decent, and the sides were pretty good, including the beans. No major hits but no misses either. A decent, solid place where you get pretty good value for the money. Will you come back? Maybe, depending on what else you find with a bit more pizzaz.

This was probably my fifth meal at a Cattlemen's. I had resolved never to dine at one again but our friend strongly insisted that his co-workers raved about it. Okay, so we tried it one more time back in December. Reservations were made and we arrived on time but we still had to wait about 20 minutes. This is not a criticism as restaurants can't really predict how long a guest will take ownership of a table and we were there on a Friday night at 630pm but it is certainly something to be aware of. I had the bone-in ribeye with add-on prawns and mushroom topper and rice pilaf. The meat was cooked to medium rare as requested but was somewhat gristly. The mushroom topper for 95-cents was presented in a little ajus cup, maybe six or seven mushrooms. It would make good sense to remove this from the menu and encourage diners to just order a side of mushrooms. There's always a debate about the difference between shrimp and prawns but the bottom line is what is the count per pound? What I received were probably 36-40's. What dismayed me was that it was obvious the shrimp, cooked scampi style, had been sitting around in their small bowl as the butter was beginning to solidify. One diner had the prime rib medium rare and it was cooked properly. The accompanying mashed potatoes were bland and boring. Our third diner had a T-bone steak medium rare with fries. This was overall the best plate of the three. We also had the sampler appetizer which was a overwhelming amount of onion strings, four measly pieces of fried zucchini, and two mozzarella sticks that had been fried so long that they were nothing but hollow shells.

I am not from Livermore, my family and I drove 1 hour to try this place. We haven't been here before so I guess we walked in the wrong way, but no one told us. We were in the bar area and stood there wondering where to go and who to talk to. Finally, someone pointed us down the hall to the main entrance. I made reservations a week ahead. When I came in and told them my name with the time and how many people were in my party, they told me they didn't have me down anywhere on the paper. The funny thing is that they had both my dad's and my brother's name on their birthday sign. I told them on the phone that we would be coming to celebrate their birthdays. We didn't wait long because they were not busy. My family ordered the porterhouse and all medium well. The description at the bottom of the menu said medium well was a steak with a slight pink. All three came out more like medium rare. They were red in the middle. I ordered a t-bone steak well done and it was pink. We didn't want to return the food because we didn't notice until we ate most of the outer parts of the steak. I guess different places have different perspectives of what medium, medium well, and well are. I felt bad for my mom because she thought "The Chopper" was a burger, but it was just a 1lb patty with cheese. Plus, the all you can eat bread was not all you can eat, we were given 4 bread for 5 of us and also one small bowl of beans to share. Overall, the meat was seasoned well. The service was okay. The waitress came around sometimes. The atmosphere seemed a little quieter than I thought it would be for a steakhouse. Not sure if there would be a next time. My mom didn't think this experience was worth almost $200. *everything we had was smaller than we thought they would be. I guess the camera does add a few pounds.

Had dinner here last night and it was an awesome reminder of why dinner at a real steakhouse is so good. We ate early so the restaurant was fairly slow, even so the service was fantastic as was the food. Our server was friendly and attentive and what may have been a manager stopped by to make sure everything was great. I had the petite filet, the chef could not have cooked it more perfectly, great flavor and was the perfect size for me. My wife had the beef ribs, they were great but if you get them make sure you are hungry!!! With toddlers at home we don't get out often so when we do it needs to be worth it. Cattlemans, thank you for coming through, we will be back!!

I did not know you can make reservations at 925-447-1224. We would have been happy to do so last evening, when we came here after DGD the younger played an Angel in her Pre-School Holiday Pageant. She, of course, was adorable ;-) Both downtown Livermore and Pleasanton were having their holiday parades, so many of our usual haunts were not accessible. We were told by the hostess she could not seat our party of 8 at 5:15 PM....at all. Thank goodness DD's MIL works in the restaurant biz, and spoke to the manager. All of a sudden we had a large table in the back *big group* room. Thank you Duaine Morgan!! Only caveat was we had to be out by 7 PM. Service went very well, and the food came quickly.... Hot french bread and plenty of butter arrived first, and it was all I could do to keep from eating that for dinner....yummy!! The family shared a bottle of Wente Morning Fog. The wine list is very basic. They bought 2 bowls of salad to the table so we could serve yourselves, nothing esoteric here. Dinners arrived quickly. I had a Petite Fillet and a baked potato. Both were good. The steak was not overly marinated/brined so the salt level was good and it was cooked just like I like it. I will order potato toppings on the side in the future, my spud was drowning. It was so huge that I was able to save a decent portion....and had plenty to eat. Kids had ice cream for dessert. All done by 6:30.... A decent family spot for mid-range steaks. Nothing thrilling, but the food is good, and they know how to get it out of the kitchen. Make a reservation!!

Came to this restaurant after hearing about it from friends and I have to say that it is one of the best steakhouse around. I had the rack of lamb and it had the perfect texture and the flavor within the meat. It was good portions and the potatoes were also well cooked and seasoned. My girlfriend had the chopper which wasn't the best sirloin I had but everything turned out good.

Drink order was screwed up from the get-go. Our server was given a large party and was busy with them. Our food was cold, we hardly ate it, and we were only offered a dessert to go. I feel robbed to have paid $100+ for a cold dinner for three people. Also took forever to get a second drink ordered. I've been here before and it was good. Never again!! AND, when we got the receipt, the event planning manager delivered it to us. I couldn't resist but to tell her how bad our experience was was. She said, "don't go away! Wait right here." After about five minutes, we figured nobody was coming back, so we left. Never, never, never again!

Our server was friendly and attentive! Stuffed mushrooms and artichoke dip were both delish. They serve warm house bread that tastes fresh, plus unlimited salad with entrees. Ribeye steak was perfectly cooked and excellent flavor. To be honest, my baby back pork ribs could have been more tender, but they were still good. My sister ordered sirloin and crab legs. The crab legs were very salty, but tolerble. We ordered outlaw cake (chocolate cake) to go - so good! After the meal, our server brought my mom a single rose - it was mother's day. What a sweet and personal touch! Thank you Cattlemen's for a wonderful Mothers day meal. I always enjoy my food when I go to Cattlemens and the decor alone is fun to look at too. Definitely worth trying!

I miss dining at the Cattlemens in Newark that closed several years ago, so a drive out to Livermore at least once a year is warranted. We arrived at 3:45 PM on a Saturday afternoon, a good fifteen minutes before opening time, and already others were there gathering to get in. We didn't have reservations, so figured getting here before opening time would assure us of prompt seating. Well, we were put on a wait list, and spent around fifteen minutes until our coaster buzzer went off. But it's definitely worth any wait! We were seated, handed menus, and a loaf of warm sourdough bread and butter brought. We ordered our drinks, and skipped on the appetizers they offered. After a few minutes of stuffing ourselves with bread and mulling over the menu, I decided on the prime rib 12 oz western cut ($25.99). Soon after our orders were taken, a giant salad bowl arrives for everyone to share. We were offered more bread and gladly accepted. We were considering asking for more of the unlimited salad, but then our beef arrived. My prime rib was delivered sizzling hot, with a baked potato, butter, and au jus. It was delicious; very tender and juicy with a moderate layer of fat. The baked potato was great too. The only disappointment was with the ranch style beans; too sugary sweet for my taste. With good service, pleasant atmosphere and great food, I'll be coming back here again next year or sooner.

Came here a year or 2 ago and the food was great, I have to say the food has takin a slide downward. I left a quarter of my ribeye on the plate, that never happens. My wife's shrimp tasted frozen. Probably last time here

More like a 4.5! Stacy C served us and she was great!! (And I've served forever so I'm a harsh critic!) drinks were Berry Margaritas (on her recommendation) and we loved them! Started with the bacon wrapped shrimp... It was great! We tried all different cuts at different cooking temps and had the scampi. Everything was good. But all the steaks could've used another 5 minutes to be the temperature we ordered. Mashed and fries were good. Get the mushrooms and charred corn!! Ask for Stacy C she's awesome!!

Venue: The place is really cute. You definitely get a western feel especially with the wagon in the front area! Its a pretty cool photo op! As for the inside, i guess you can say i am picky when it comes to interior design because i prefer restaurants to have any other flooring besides carpet. Why? Carpet is like a bacteria magnet. Especially in a restaurant it not only catches the numerous amount of food and beverage spills, but if it is not cleaned properly it will start smelling and there you have it! Bacteria covered up by food smell! Service: We were greeted with half smiles and an unwelcome tone which made me feel a little awkward. I felt as if i was being judged for some reason. Maybe they were having a bad day? But that shouldn't change their level of customer service in my opinion. On a better note our server, Mursal, was very nice and seemed to know the menu pretty well. Food: I ordered the NY steak & shrimp. I am not a bloody carniverous craver so i opted to have my steak medium well. I really like to taste the actual flavor of the steak so i ate it without sauce. I have to give it to them because the flavor was perfection! BUT it was obviously a well done steak not a medium well one. The edges were really dry so i was forced to use sauce. The shrimp was tasty and well cooked. Not undercooked and not overcooked. The double baked potatoe was flavorful but it seemed as if it was cooked a day or two before. Overall the place is good but not good enough yet to be a 5 star restaurant, but that is only my opinion.

Celebrate a life moment. A huge apology to your lover. Make a first impression to your new family. Celebrate an anniversary. Special birthdays deserve a special restaurant. Congratulate a special moment. Eat a good steak once in a blue moon. Eat at Cattlemen's. Steaks, ribs, chicken, prime rib, and seafood. All dinners include tossed salad, sourdough French bread, a potato, and beans. I believe the salad and bread are unlimited. My party ordered three bread servings. Warning. Don't fill up on bread. The main course is absolutely fantastic! Cattlemen's is a restaurant to splurge. Upgrade to a higher tier when ordering your meal. Live the present. Live the moment. It's Cattlemen's.

My family really likes Cattlemens. The men love their meat - and lots of it. The women love the bread & salad - and lots of it, haha. The bar is big - so waiting for your table is not a pain. Just grab a drink, watch a game or chit chat. Once seated - you get your bread, drinks, and menu. Lots of great options. My go to is their Pete's Special. It's a smaller steak (trust me, after all the bread and salad you'll want a small steak) and a side of your choice. I usually ask for the twice baked potato. Although, their sweet potato is good too. Enjoy!

This is a followup review after speaking with Miranda via email. After our previous dining experience, Cattlemen's invited us back with a voucher for our next meal. We arrived for a 4pm reservation on May 2nd. We were promptly greeted and seated. Our server was Tailor who was excellent. Within a few minutes drinks were served and our food order was taken, shortly after salad was brought out. Before our meal arrived, Ken the new GM came by our table to apologize for our previous experience and was glad that we came and gave them another chance. Shortly later our meal's came out. I had the 10oz filet medium rare, with crab legs, and the wife had the 6oz fillet, also medium rare. Everything was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We then ordered a Pete's Pan Cookie for dessert. While waiting for our dessert, Ken came by again and told us to keep the certificate he gave us for our next meal, and that he was picking up the tab for our dinner. This was completely unexpected and very much appreciated. Shortly after, our dessert came out, which was delicious. Just the right size to share between two people. All in all, this was the sort of service we expected and have received before at Cattlemens. Hopefully our previous experience was just an anomaly as we do enjoy coming here for dinner.

Just an average steakhouse. Low key casual dining. Prices are good but the food quality can reflect that. I travel here for business often and will stop by for an easygoing meal. Can be crowded at times. It is fun to watch Monday night football in the bar.

I love cattlemans! My family and I have been comming here for years, and now I got my husband addicted to this place! The rack of lamb is absolutely the best I've ever had, and the fresh hot bread is amazing! The artichoke dip is must have and you can't go home without having the hot chocolate chip cookie with ice cream! Yes my husband and I are regulars here, we never need a menu! Lol

Everything was great and service was awesome. Food was cooked perfect and really good. Hostess could use some training in customer service but it was busy so maybe that was the reason. My wife and I will be back. Best steak we have had in a long time.

BEWARE: CREDIT CARD SCAM, IF YOU EAT HERE PAY WITH CASH We were here for my husband's birthday in May 2014 (I've been meaning to write a review!). The food and wine were good as usual. When it was time to pay we split the check with our friends at our table. Both of us had fraud on our debit cards for THOUSANDS of dollars!!! I know it was this purchase because I hadn't used my debit card in months prior to this purchase. When I called the store manager they just shrugged it off and told me to contact the police. Not helpful at all! A-OK food, terrible customer service with fraud. If you come here, I'd recommend you pay with CASH ONLY.

My boyfriend's mother took us out with his family to Cattlemens to celebrate his birthday. I'm not too much of a red meat person and got a burger so my rating is more based on everyone else's reactions, the wait staff and the menu. Food that was ordered was a 3/4 lb burger, 2 2 lb steaks, filet mignon, prime rib and the lemon herb chicken. Bread (YUM) and salad was provided with the meal so that was nice. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and had tons of leftovers. All I gotta say is that my burger was ginormous and was only able to eat half of it. Menu itself had all types of meats and cuts as well as seafood, chicken, salad so the restaurant offers something for everyone! Birthday boy got sung to and a free ice cream along with a cowboy hat. Apparently they also have a sign out front near the hostess table wishing happy birthday to the patrons who's family/friends called in to notify ahead of time. So that was cute :) Waitress was relatively nice and helpful but I'm pretty sure working here is rough so I expected nothing more. The restaurant itself was huge with plenty of seating. I overheard other patrons talking about how it was somewhat maze-like but to me, the space was comforting. All in all, not a bad place to come for group outings in Livermore. I normally wouldn't come out of my way to a steakhouse but I think people that do will most likely like it.

My fiancé took me here for my birthday on Thursday (3/12/15) and we were told that there would be a 40 minute wait. We were seated in about 35 minutes. I figured if the wait was that long it must be pretty good. I figured right! The service was really good and the staff was very friendly. Our server was Stephanie and she was excellent. I ordered the Rib Eye medium and it was fantastic! It was absolutely perfect and needed nothing! The steak just melted in your mouth. Everything that we ordered was really really good! This was our first time here and I cannot believe we had not been here before. The steak was far better than similar ones I have had at Black Angus, Outback and Tahoe Joe's. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Came here for the fourth time. Wrote a review for their location in Dixon, and I think this location deserves one of its own. This location is right off the freeway and super easy to find. You can't miss it! Its located in a small strip mall which includes a Starbucks location as well as a 7Eleven store. And a Mexican restaurant as well, amongst others. If you come here during holidays or special days; like I did on Mother's Day, it's best to schedule a reservation, so they can have a table ready for you when you arrive. It gets busy on holidays and weekends. Each time I went there, there was a crowd waiting outside patiently. And by crowd, I mean at least 40-45 people waiting in small groups. Which pretty much speaks for itself on how popular Cattlemens is when it comes to steaks. Having been to steak restaurants in Texas, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Arizona, Nevada, and of course, here at home in California, I can unequivocally say that Cattlemens steaks hold their own. And there is nothing antediluvian about eating slabs of meat grilled to perfection in the simplest of ways. As a natural born foodie, I appreciate; and more importantly, respect all types of food regardless of the food's origin. The staff is respectful regardless of what ethnicity you belong to. And trust me. Having dined at literally hundreds of restaurants all over the place, this is not often the case. Bravo to all their team members, individual managers and their corporate policies as a whole. Nice to see and experience first hand equal treatment of all customers by their employees. Their steaks are juicy, thick and take less chews with your teeth to dissolve in your mouth than their salads. They offer complimentary bread, a bowl full of fresh salad and free refills on your soft drinks. Their baked beans are also delicious! They will give you as much as you can eat when it comes to baked beans too; so go on Cowboys & Cowgirls, eat to your heart's desire. Got a 20oz Rib Eye with their Legendary Margarita. You get to keep the shaker. Plus, their Margaritas are strong compared to what I've had at other places. But then again, every place has their own version of this simple drink. Kinda like having Dim Sum at different establishments. Each restaurant is different. The manager was also walking around in the dining area asking customers at random to see if everything was going good with their food. The manager didn't do it to make the employees feel nervous; they weren't. It's to show the customers that the management is involved in making sure their dining experience was in pleasant at Cattlemens. When the team lead or Manager on duty makes rounds like that, it shows commitment on all levels. That's terrific! *One point of frank feedback I'll provide is for the management to have the hostesses retrained. It felt like the girls working at the front greeting counter had little or no interest in making a good first impression on the customers. What's sad is some of those customers were visitors, on their first visit to Cattlemens. The front counter greeters & hostesses are the first contact the customers have with someone representing Cattlemens and the rest of the team working in the restaurant. I believe that first contact is paramount when it comes to setting the tone & expectations for the duration of the customers' dining experience. As I've done so far, I'll continue to visit Cattlemens; not just on special days, but also on other days of the year, month, and the week. Because good service, good food, and reasonable prices is what all customers want when it comes to dining out and in my personal opinion, it seems Cattlemens as a whole has gotten that formula right.

During a busy Saturday evening the food my family got were a charred steak, dry tri-tip (beef jerky dry) steak salad, leftover ribs for the kids mostly bones, very little meat. An extremely salty meal indeed. This place used to be very good.... I would've given them 3 stars but for the price of the meal I expected more.

Had dinner with a small group and the food was just ok. The server, on the other hand needs to go back to customer service school - clearly she flunked-out. She started fine, but after ordering her expression suggested she was totally uninterested in our table. She delivered the food, never returning to inquire if the food was to our liking. Refills on water didn't come unless asked. She went to one end of the table to ask if they wanted dessert, but ignored the other end who couldn't hear her. When dessert came, by another server, the server yelled out who had the ice cream; no idea where it should have been delivered. Another long wait for the bill and longer still for the original server to pick-up the cash/credit card. Very poor service which frankly is inexcuseable afterall this is her work she should be proud and efficient - neither of which she was.

I'm a HUGE fan of Cattlemen's!! The thing I love about Cattlemen's is their prime rib, it's REALLLLLLY good, like REALLLY good. I've had my share of prime rib in my life time and I have to say hands down, I dream of Cattle's PR, I really do. I make the drive just for this PR, I live in WC now, so it's a little more closer than it was before, but I have to tell you, they really know how to make a mean PR and steak and for the price, you really can't beat it AND, I can show up in my sweat pants and Uggs and not have to feel under dressed. EVER. This place always hits the spot when I'm in need of big meat!

This is becoming my typical Monday night dinner spot. Close to my hotel and after 5 hours of early morning travel + full work day I just want to eat, check in to my hotel and sleep. The fact that this is so close to my hotel is a plus, and the food and service are great! Makes my Monday's not so bad. Had many different entree's and have no complaints about anything. The booths are great because they provide a little privacy and cut down on the noise from other tables. All you can eat salad and bread. Love the sourdough. I could make a full meal out of it alone. Lots of chunks in the blue cheese dressing. I even asked if i wanted some crumbles on the side. YES I DO!! Thank you soooo much for asking. AWESOME!! My entrees have always been cooked as I ordered. Not medium when I order medium rare. This goes for the steaks and the kabobs (forget the name now).

I have to say that I heard so much about this place I was a little scared that it would not be as good as was preached to me by several people. Kinda like when you go to a movie that everyone has seen, and they pump it up so much its just not what you though it should be. Well, there was no disappointment here. I loved every freakin bite. I had a rib eye that was cooked to perfection and I thought I was going to burst open cause I could not stop eating. My only regret is not eating there sooner. Cattlemens is my new favorite restaurant.

Good food, older cowboy decor, drinks suck and if you have EVER seen the Carl's Junior commercial with the $6 burger and the crazy psychotic people singing "Happy Happy Birthday" and actually LOVED listening to it over and over and over again, this is your place! I'll probably eat here again, maybe during a weekday when there might be less birthday celebrations. The service was kinda slow, but the food made up for it. If you go on a weekend night... don't get mixed drinks, stick with beer and bring earplugs.

We are hard pressed to do our special events anywhere else. I only have steak once a month and I always regretted going elsewhere. My steak at Cattlemen's is always cooked perfectly medium. The appetizers that we always get, the steak nachos and the beefy buffalo wings are so spicy and savory good. The staff is always great and we are often seated immediately. On busy Friday and Saturday nights I don't ever remember ever waiting more than twenty or thirty minutes. I have been eating at Cattlemen's since first moving to the bay area in 2000 and can't find a better overall restaurant, with great food, great price, and a fun atmosphere!

Good if you are in the mood for red meat and good sides avoid on the weekend evenings becuase no steak is worth that kind of wait plenty of parking which is nice service ALWAYS sucks! everytime i've gone it has sucked be very clear on how you want your meat...they are not always spot on with cooking it the way you order it

Today is update day. We go to Cattleman's at least 1x per month-hubby is a big red meat guy. Well he's not big but he is a red meat guy. The service here is always great. The food (and meat doneness) has gotten alot more consistent. Overall this is a four star experience for those wanting a Big Red Meat fix especially cuz you can bring the kids. **They now offer a "featured wine" for cheap...it was Rodney Strong last month...which is a step up from their previous Woodbridge offerings.

We got married in the Livermore/Pleasanton area, and we were on the hunt for a fun place to feed our friends and fam for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We're not that familiar with this area, and it looked a little sparse for dining choices, and we didn't want people to get lost trying to find the restaurant, so Cattlemen's convenient location next to the highway and the hotel we were all staying at was very ideal. I have a funny attachment to the Cattlemen's in Dixon since I went to school near by, so I had a good idea of the standards set there. The food would fill people up and not disappoint, the atmosphere is always fun, and of course the service is always super friendly. This location did not disappoint, I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for large gatherings or an ad hoc dinner with friends. Very easy place to eat for large and small groups alike. First and foremost, I want to send BIG PROPS to the head events manager there, Gayla G. She was the only person at Cattlemen's we had to talk to, which made things SO easy. She is SUPER responsive to her emails (when she's on the phone with you, she's always next to her computer and when she says she'll send you stuff, you receive it immediately in your inbox), and unlike a lot of event coordinators, where special requests would always be answered with a "hmmm, I'm not sure, probably not...we'll see" Gayla always answered with a confident "YES! OF COURSE!" and on top of that goes the extra mile. You can really tell she enjoys her job, and enjoys working with all the various ranges of events, and you would never get the impression that a 4,000 party would be prioritized over a party of 10... every event was important. There's SO many awesome things I want to mention in this post, but without being too verbose, I'll mention them in bullet points: -- Gayla offered to help us with getting our rehearsal dinner cake from Costco FOR US so we wouldn't have another thing to think about (although we ended up bringing our own cakes from our favorite bakery near home.) -- Gayla found these PERFECT skinny vases for the party favors I brought so they can be centerpieces -- Dinner went with out a hitch, we had two servers at our disposal dressed specifically for our dinner (b/c most servers wear something else), drinks always to the brim, bread was hot, butter was easy to spread, my prime rib was perfect, portions were huge, servers cut the cake and served those as well (no cake cutting fee either!) -- Gayla made sure our tables had white table cloths, rented purple napkins for us (at no extra charge) printed the menus on purple stationary to have everything match (at no extra charge) -- Ample parking -- our own private dinning room complete with his and her deer heads mounted on the wall (LOL) -- Gayla helped with all of our decorations, even allowed us to STAPLE wanted signs all over the room of the bride and groom (UNHEARD OF!) -- All the "business" and paperwork part of it was crystal clear, there were no gray areas, you didn't feel like they were out for your money with the fine print. -- speaking of money, one cool thing is that to have your own banquet room, you have to either spend a certain amount or invite a certain number of people, say your bill ended up being less than expected, even though you end up paying their "minimum" they give you that difference in gift cards so you can use it in the future!!! Isn't that INSANELY brilliant? -- Bathrooms were clean (something that is very important to me) -- Big bowl of chocolate mints as you leave -- They even turned the thermostat down so that our older guests would be more comfortable. -- They have a HUGE range of custom menus for your party for all budgets. Ok this is insanely long, you get the point, this place was one of my favorite things during this whole wedding planning process.

Very good mid-range price steakhouse. Bring your large appetite and be proud to be a carnivore. I always get a to-go/doggy bag for left overs so I can naw of the bone. My three dogs are so jealous. Food: 2 lb porterhouse, 1.5 lb cowboy steak, t-bone, and herb crusted lamb chops are my favorite. Been here on three occasions and my food is always cooked perfectly, medium rare, juicy and is full of flavor with just the right amount of seasoning. The steak is not masked by any sauce. Choice of side dish: potato (baked, fries), vegetable, or rice. Meals come with a basket of warm sourdough bread, butter, baked beans, and basic garden salad with individual choice of dressing. Some extra nice touches: One friend request to have her food served on a hot plate. Another friend wanted to have her steak charred on the outside but to have the steak still remain medium rare in the inside. The food came out just as requested. Service: Friendly but can be spotty when restaurant is super busy. Make reservations or expect a long wait on weekends. Atmosphere: Western motif.

Gotta love beef from Harris Ranch. Did you know they're the only restaurant that has a contract with Harris Ranch???? I had the 14oz NY Steak and it was great! The portions were pretty big for the price! The service was great! I overheard that you can ask them to reserve a good piece of prime rib when you make your reservations.

Ample parking in the lot out front. Barn type decor, chain restaurant. I used to really like coming here, but the food is just okay these days, nothing to write home about. Good food, not spectacular. Average beans, average steak, average salad. The service is usually good and portions good sized. I'd rather go the the nearest TX Roadhouse or Black Angus.

Excellent food and staff. I've been to this cattlemens three times in the past month. On two occasions there was an issue. Once my friends steak was cooked too well. They took it back, made it right and gave him a complimentary drink and desert. I also got a new meal after waiting for my friend to get his replacement meal. On my third visit yesterday ( Tuesday), my two friends thought they ordered the $20 steak special. When the bill came they were charged $30. for a 20oz porterhouse. That's what they thought the waitress had told them was the special. Turns out it was the T-bone that was on special. No problem though, the manager made the correction in my friends favor. Great staff and great food. If you like prime rib, try the 13oz western cut. OMG, it's about an inch thick and very little fat. I will continue to be a loyal customer and dine there at least once a week.

We've always wanted to try Cattlemen's, so we went there to celebrate my hubby's b'day. We had the original dinner for two - artichoke cheese dip appetizer, prime rib, and dessert. The prime rib was juicy, tender, and very delicious. We were satisfied with our meal.

When my husband I were first dating we had a dispute on whether his hometown Cattlemen is better than my hometown San Francisco House of Prime Rib. The atmosphere and food served is quite different. Cattlemen has a fun cowboy theme through and through with a lot of patrons who are actually cowboys or at least wearing a cowboy hat. Any time we are around Livermore we will come here for the memories and porterhouse. The staff is always friendly and will reassure you that the bean lady will be passing by soon. Our plate of beans is never left empty. We usually order the porterhouse med rare, it is such a perfect piece of meat. The bone is always saved for our French Mastiff (which he would devour in mins) The staff would entice with dessert but we would always be too stuff (from the beans!) Make a day of it, go next door and play some minature golf and have dinner at Cattlemens.

I like Cattlemen's steakhouse. While I will concede that it is not "fine dining," it does not try to be. The only real standard I apply to a steakhouse is the beef...is the beef good? The beef at Cattlemen's is good; its of good quality and its prepared in an unremarkable and basically unadorned fashion. The wait staff is mostly Livermore teenagers but they are, surprisingly, well-trained, attentive and courteous. Attire is casual although I frown on T-shirts in anyplace other than a fast food restaurant, which this is not.

Wow. Someone on Yelp gave Cattleman's three stars and then wrote, "How can you go wrong with Cattleman's?" Well that missing two stars should tell you the answer. Or in my case, missing three stars. Guard your time, cash, and cholesterol and don't go to Cattleman's. The cost is close to $20 a person for a mediocre steak that you eat in a big high ceilinged room occupied by picnic tables.

Terrible meal there last night. PrimeRib sucked, beans were cold, and bowl was dirty on the table. Table was not very clean either. The waitress took the beans to reheat them and forgot about them. 10 plus minutes went by and then she told us a story on how she had cold beans at a Cattlemens and they were grooss she said. To top it off she blamed it on a faulty warming appliance that has only did this one other time. The Server was nice but the service was slow and terrible. Go to BJ's down the road for a better meal. I wrote my complaints on the receipt for hopefully someone will read it.

So, my husband didn't want to go to Izzy's because it's in San Ramon, but I was seriously on a no-carb diet with a serious craving for some hearty steaks.... after a bet of going back and forth, my husband finally agreed that we would give Cattlemens a try. The result - loved it! When we got there, we were told that the wait was about 25 - 35 min, but it was alright for us and we settled in the bar for some drinks. Surprisingly, 2 minutes after we ordered an appetizer sampler and drinks, our table was ready... the hostess assured us that our drinks/app would be brought to our table when they are ready - sure enough the nice bar waiter brought everything to us with no delay... The food was really good for the price - I had the 13 oz prime rib medium rare - they brought the med. rare prime rib table side with a hot plate - they first poured some au jus on the hot plate to make it sizzle and very quickly threw the prime rib on top of the plate - the prime rib then cooked out to be medium after this is done.... I was so surprised that a $25 serving of a 13-oz prime rib can be as creamy as it was - I really enjoyed it. This is may sound cheezy, but after I had the first taste of it, I wanted to put on some cowboy boots with a cowboy hat and say "Heehaw"! It was great... oh, maybe this sentiment had something to do with the Lemon Drop I had- which was also yummy! Husband's ribeye was also delicious! So, this is very much an "old-west" themed place, nice and casual with good food.... it's not up scale like a Ruth's Chris or Morton's, but the food sure was far more Superior than Outback or Texas Road House... Give it a try - I think you would be pleased (especially, if you are a carnivorous soul like me)!

Leave me alone I'm eating! I can't believe how much they expect people to eat! I don't usually eat beef but on a few rare occasssions I will. Well actually I had the BBQ chicken which was okay while the prime rib was pretty tasty. The drinks at the bar were kind of weak and we told our waiter about it. According to him the bartendar was upset when he told him to make our next drinks stiffer. WTF?! Nothing personal dude, just want some alcohol in our alchoholic beverages. Er...sorry for being hard core Asians that can drink. You don't get that often I guess.

Awesome steakhouse! We've been there 3 times already and each time left us very satisfied. Friendly service and foods are exceptional. We love the freshness of the all-you-can-eat salad, and all the steaks are of very good quality and always perfectly cooked as ordered. Prices are very reasonable and you can get great deals on weekday specials!

Phenomenal food & service. Ranked as one of the best Rib-eye's I've ever had. Impressed with the friendly service & large portions. I'd give it 5 stars but had to compensate for the mashed potatoes tasting too buttery. Other than that highly recommended!

As far as casual steak places go, Cattleman's is pretty good. They are not the best steak I've ever tasted but that steak was at least twice the price somewhere else. The food is solid good, no frills and a good value. We've eaten at the restaurant many times and always had a good experience with staff. I will agree with one reviewer though that they sometimes undercook the meat. I ordered my steak medium yesterday (carryout) and by the time it got to me and I had to reheat, it was medium. I don't have any problem sending the meat back to be cooked properly but it can be a hassle. Still, it is a family friendly place with good food and I would have no trouble recommending to anyone.

I want to like this place. I like meat. Really, I do. Every time I've been here, my steak turns up burnt and the service is insanely slow. The side dishes are good but that's really not the point of going to a steak house.... This place is overrated, overpriced and usually has a long wait.

This place is pretty good. I dont crave it, like I do other steak houses. I wasn't blown away from the food, but the service was excellent. Nice place to go enjoy a casual dinner and a big ole steak.

I don't understand why we have so many work functions at Cattlemens. It's really not that good. The meat is never cooked correctly. However....the service is always good. The decor is exactly what you'd expect from a place called Cattlemens.

So yesterday was the second time I've visited Cattlemens and I've gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. On my first visit, I felt kinda bad for them. MY WHOLE FAMILY WENT OUT TO EAT TOGETHER. There was like, hold up, let me count, there were seventeen of us. And we're pretty much as loud and hungry as Toula's family from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. No joke. My aunt had made reservations. Everyone got there with about 5 mins to spare. They let us know that they were putting us in the or a banquet room, idk if there's more than one, the place is GINORMOUS! Anyway, we didn't have to wait long at all. When we sat down, they had already had waters out on the table for us. I love that. I think it's what good and SMART servers do. I was in the restaurant game for just shy of a decade. They comped two sampler appetizers for us because we had to wait for 5-10 mins. Wth?? That was awesome. We weren't even complaining. And it was really no problem at all. After all, it takes time to put together a big table like that; there were 17 of us. The sampler was great, I was bummed that I was too slow to get some of the fried zucchini. I love zucchini. I had a chicken strip, which was de-lish and a mozzarella stick, it coulda been a triangle though, either shape, you can't go wrong with fried cheese. I had my fill of the salad and was still kinda stuffed from Thanksgiving which was the night before. For my meal, I only had the side of sauteed mushrooms, but I had no complaints. They mushrooms were amazing. Now, I'm not the typical Cattlemens patron, I don't eat steak. I imagine at a steakhouse, that's what people go in for. I don't know about ribs, but the ribs two of my cousins got looked hella good. Everyone was laughing when the server brought the ribs out, they were huge! You woulda thought Fred Flintstone was there and ordered a rack of Brontasaurus ribs. Haha. I liked that after our meal, the manager came over personally to check on us. In case you can't tell from my other reviews, I'm all about customer service. Last night was my 2nd visit. This time, only four of us. I had the spinach ravioli. My BF's stepdad, Eric, asked the waiter how the ravioli were, and the waiter was so cute. Above all else, I appreciate honesty, he revealed, "I honestly don't know, I really don't get too many people who order it." I guess in a badass steakhouse that could suffice even Fred Flintstone's appetite, you don't get a lot of people who don't dig beef or pork. I told Eric I would share with him since he was on the fence and wanted crab. And I wanted to snag a bite of some of his crab. I mixed in the crab with my marinara sauce and thought I was a genius. Even the grilled slice of Texas toast that came with my meal was really tasty. The salad was nothing to sneeze at either. I love how they slice the red onion extra thin. Mmm. Needless to say after my very filling and rather large portion of ravioli, I didn't have room for dessert. Damn me! Why did I scarf everything down and not save room for that giant cookie with two scoops of vanilla ice cream atop? All in all, Cattlemens has been on point, two times in a row. :) I think it's worth paying them a visit.

We've been here a few times, once with our company for a Christmas party, then on our own without our son and then last night we brought our son and he says this is his 2nd favorite restaurant. Roy's is still his first choice. We had a nice dinner, my fiance had the sirloin steak, I had prime rib and our son had mac and cheese. We all had a great time and enjoyed our food, and our waitress was also very attentive. Our son ate half of my prime rib and says... "next time I won't get mac and cheese, I'll share your prime rib". Guess I'll have to order the next size up when we go back next time. Their all you can eat salad is definitely a nice bonus, so we'll have to bring my brother back next time since we promised him a dinner at Cattlemens before Christmas and we still haven't brought him yet.

My experience at Cattlemens last saturday night was dismal at best. The two gals taking reservations at the front door were the nicest people we met at Cattlemens all night long...however, what happened next was a small disaster. We were seated in the dining area in a table that was literally 15 feet from the kitchen area and thus could see all the waiters/waitresses come out w/ food. We could also see our waiter come by and skip introducing himself to us like 4-5 times as he chatted with other tables and served the people right adjacent to us. After 15min he then came by and complained that he was really busy and apologized for the wait. He promised to bring waters/bread on his next trip. The bread never came. We ordered our steaks and were half way through our second portion of all-you-can-eat salad before any drinks or waters finally arrived. The coke and water refills then came only at the end of our dinner . I asked to have my porterhouse cooked medium. It was instead 'rare' and barely edible. The steak was extremely hard to cut due to the texture of meat not being cooked near the bone. I decided to take it home so I could then cook it myself...luckily I wasn't in the mood to deal with the waiter and I was also having a full appetite from the my salad. The waiter apologized to us three times during dinner about things not arriving on time. While this was a nice gesture, I'd rather have him get things right or fixed than keep apologizing. My rating is : Minus two stars for the long wait at tehe table before the waiter intro'd us, the issue with how my steak was cooked, no drink refills until second time asked, no bread delivered after we were told it would be, no refills on the all-you-can-eat bean side dish.

Wednesday nights $9.99 rib eye steak dinner!!! Not only a great deal, it is a great tasting meal. We went out to celebrate our Nephew's 20th birthday. We had a great time with GREAT food. Our server Jeff was fantastic. He has a great sense of humor and he put up with our crazy personalities. What a great server!

The food was excellent. Sat at the bar and wasn't pleased with the service due to the fact that their was only one person tending to it when it's full. I guess if you go and sit at a table you might get a better experience.

The last three times I have been here, I have been unsatisfied. The last time I came here I got the burger, with haystack onions. They forgot the onions on top, and the bottom bun of my burger was halfway soaked in grease. But, it was still good. The time before that, I had the shrimp as an entree, let me tell you.. it was disgusting. Since when is shrimp suppose to be HARD?! The frozen shrimp that you buy at a damn grocery store was better than that! ANNNND, the time before that, our appetizer (haystack onions), had a piece of metal in it! I'm not sure what it was from, but good thing my boyfriend and I got it because I'm sure someone would have sued them up the ass. But, our waitress gave us a free appetizer, and took off the onions. So, I would suggest to ALWAYS stick with the steak, no matter how good everything else sounds.

I've been going to this restaurant for many years. And in the many years that I've been going to this location and the now closed Newark location, there was rarely a time when I was let down. In the past 3 months, I've been to this restaurant 2 times and both times were very disappointing. About 3 months ago, I went to this location and ordered the usually great prime rib. The prime rib turned out to be dry. It had a different color than it normally did. Their were peices of fat that could easily be seen that I had never noticed before. Needless to say, it was not up to par with their normal steak or even a steak house like Texas Roadhouse or Outback. It was a busy night that night, and service was slow. They didn't remove dishes. They didn't clean the table after each course. Overall, a bad night. Last weekend, in hopes of them getting back on track, I went there again. It was last saturday night and it was a normal busy night. The prime rib my friend ordered was dry again. It had the same unappealing look it had the last time. Heavy coloring and thick peices of fat which made it look different and taste different than usual. The New York Strip I ordered was super dry. You could taste the extra charr the steak had on it as if the grill was never cleaned. The steak was tough and chewy. It didn't look like a high quality steak nor did it taste like one. My friend ordered a porterhouse and had the same problems I had with the New York. Unfortunately, he was too nice to have the waitress take the steak back and have it refired. I would like to see if they would have given him a better steak. He was so disappointed, he didn't even bother to eat it, he just played with it the whole night. We started with the coconut shrimp which was heavily fried on the outisde but was undercooked on the inside. Also, we had the tumbleweed onions which were fine because they were just deep fried thin/small onion strings. All in all, it was a disappointing night. Because of my long time loyalty to this restaurant, I will ultimately go back at some point (as long as they don't go out of business) but for now, I would not recommend them to anyone looking for a good steak experience.

Came here on a Friday night (we made a reservation). All of the staff were really friendly, and we were seated pretty quickly. The food came out promptly and was amazing! The bread was the best bread I have ever had in my life and the salad was great too. The booth offered some privacy and the overall atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Great place for a date or a casual dinner. Definitely will be going back.

I have been to Cattemens 5 times and I simply love their Cowboy Ribeye. I tried their Prime Rib in the past but I didn't like it as much as Cowboy Ribeye so I have been ordering Cowboy Ribeye since then. Since I felt like eating steak so I went there last night. Olivia, bartender, was one of the best bartenders/servers I have ever seen. She was fast, attentive and funny. Steak was as good as always and I couldn't complain. I guess one thing I can complain is that they serve too much salad and bread. I am one of those people who don't like to waste food so I felt guilty because I wasn't able to finish them.

The kids are always asking to go out for Cattlemen's so it's great that Thur nights is Kids Eat Steak for Free night (one Pete's Jr steak meal free for every adult meal ordered). As other reviewers have noted - great steakhouse restaurant chain that provides consistently good quality. I've only had one instance where I thought the quality wasn't up to the usual Cattlemen's standards and they kindly exchanged it for me. For kids meals I would avoid everything except the Pete's Jr steak and the chicken fingers. The rest of the kids meals are pretty anemic. One other tip - beware all their offers for toppings and side dishes - they will definitely charge you. I asked to have broccoli instead of french fries for one of the kids meals and it was $4 for a side of broccoli! Same goes for mushroom toppings, etc. and they usually don't point out that it's an extra charge for those.

We decided to give Cattlemens another try after a failure attempt three years ago. When we first walked in we went with good intentions. The waiter that we had was very nice. Always ready to help and quick to come to our table. Service was great! The downfall was the food.....we have had way better food than Cattlemens. The bread basket was good as well as the salad that comes out for everyone at the table. I love that about this resturant. The baked beans that came out with the meal were cold as well as the mashed potatoes. The steak was okay. All in all we could have had a way better meal if we skipped this resturant. This will never be an option again!

We've been going regularly over the years, but our last few experience left much to be desired and the latest is causing me to write the following review. At our dinner tonight 3 of us ordered the rib eye rustler and each riby eye was tough, nothing like what a rib eye normally is. I usually have the prime rib, going for the large Cattlemans cut and have noticed that this has been getting smaller over the years. A birthday dinner was the purpose tonight and we did get the name of the birthday boy on the blackboard at the entrance, but no happy birthday from the staff like they did 5 tables down, they plain forgot about it.

This is a good place. At first we thought we needed to gain a couple of hundred pounds to eat here. The the hostess assured us that this isn't the case. The waiter was helpful though he looked at us funny since we didn't use the butter, dill sauce or salad dressing with our meal. We ordered Salmon, which was cooked as well as it can be and the steamed veggies were very good. Though the waiter joked about us eating healthy, we also turned down the desserts. You can order a high salt 2000 calorie dinner if that what you want too. Not too bad for a steak house now is it?

On Wednesdays, they have a steak special. You can get all you can eat salad (very fresh), yummy bread, beans, baked potato or a mashed potato with an 8 oz. steak for 9.99. It was delicious, service was awesome, and the atmosphere was fun.

The best Cattlemens I've gone to. The selection was huge, the service was super nice, the food was served fast and was delicious. All the Cattlemens are delicious, but what made this place stand out was the service. David was super polite and made sure to stop by often to refill drinks and check up on us, and the manager stopped by too just to double check if everything was OK. I had a Special 10oz sirloin, which I barely finished. My dad had a Sheriff and barely finished half of it. We also had the sampler appetizer platter, which was a feast within itself. We came away nice, full, and happy. Everything was great, even the music was cool and I'm usually not a country fan.

This is really a 2.5 star rating. I've never gotten exceptional service here (hence the lower review). I'm disappointed that their "dollar rib night" on Monday Night football nights are now "2 dollar rib nights" (it just doesn't quite have the same ring to it). My boyfriend promptly told me that while it's still a fair deal, it's a 100% mark up! Couldn't they have eased us in...like $1.25....$1.50... Otherwise, their food is pretty consistently good. Although price-y, you get a lot of food. I could split it with 2 or 3 other people its that much food, but they sometimes charge me extra if I split (it really depends on your server). I like the Dixon location better, but that's too far. Oh, and be prepared for a wait if you didn't make reservations...

I'd give this place a 3.5 rating. 4 for the food, 3 for service. We've been here several times, last night included. The food is always pretty decent (although I'm not a fan of the beans. And don't get me started on the "Bean Girl" thing). We went to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. At the table we ordered three filets ( two petite, one reg), one Pete's special (sirloin), one 13 oz prime rib and 2 kids chicken dinners. Everyone enjoyed their steaks. I had the prime rib which was good but pretty fatty. There was a pretty good pile of fat left on my plate. We also ordered the potato skins app. Didn't really need the extra 5 billion calories but it was good. Service was kind of slow. We had to ask for things multiple times. There also wasn't salt and pepper on our table (but was on all the others....odd). Our waiter told us our food was ordered and would be out in 10-15 minutes but it took closer to 45. Not that big of a deal but we didn't expect the entire meal to take 2 + hours. We probably should have anticipated it since the service is always slow here. I would go back. Must better steak than Outback or Black Angus. Make sure you make reservations (we always do here) . One lady was grumbling about having to wait 90 minutes.

How can you go wrong with cattleman's? By going here, you know you want meat and potato's...and they do it all right...Its not going to be "prime" grade by any means, so you know you get what you expect... The bread is great...but there is never enough butter! (is there ever?), the service is usually OK. They usually have a "special" which is usually the way to go as far as price... The wait is never too long... Like every other chain restaurant, they sing an annoying birthday song... As far is this little armpit of the bay, Livermore, I would say it is the best of all others that is in a price range the average person could eat at on a semi-regular basis...

Great place to eat and nice private style booths. So much food for the money, I love the all you can eat salad, the beans are great and the steaks are cooked just how I want them. The staff is very friendly. Don't forget to look for the $10 off $40 or more coupon.

Not bad for a chain steakhouse. I would say that for the value you get a lot of food. I ordered medium and it came medium rare so be careful for what you ask for. They have great happy hour values too... The cool thing is our table was made out of an old barn door. Moreover they were happy to serve the kids which is always appreciated.

Had a business meeting there for lunch and the service was excellent! All the food was great with exception to the salmon which got mixed to medicore reviews. Stick to the steak, it's a steakhouse! And the beans were great. We have already booked are next meeting there and I'm looking forward to it.

as a steak chain restaurant this is pretty good. they have harris ranch steaks and are usually quite tasty. your order comes with a salad, warm sour dough bread (yum), beans and a side of potatoes they way you want them. service can be uneven - especially on crowded evenings...the last time we were there they made the filet portion of my hubby's porterhouse steak too well - and they ended bringing him another filet - so that was pretty nice. the place is casual, can be loud, but definitely satisfies your steak craving. overall, good food for a decent price. (steak will always be a bit pricey).

I never thought I'd see the day I would step foot into Cattlemen's. Well, folks, that day has come -- yesterday. As a strict vegetarian for seven years, I shunned the hick, er, cowboy establishment known for serving up large pieces of dead cow. Having recently started eating fish, I can't be as holier-than-thou anymore -- plus my menu options nearly doubled. Anyway, my boyfriend was taking his parents out for their birthdays and I joined them. The staff were pretty much all very friendly, and boy, were there a lot of them. That place employs a lot of people. Because I made a reservation about an hour prior to our visit, we didn't have to wait the 15 minutes for a table they were telling other parties. We got seated in a roomy booth, though a bit noisy next to the kitchen. The bread was warm and decent w/ butter, and my diet coke came in the giantest mug ever. I got the grilled salmon, which was good. It came with a baked potato, which was fine, but nothing to get excited about. The salad was basic yet satisfying. My boyfriend and his mom shared the "feast" that included the largest piece of steak I've ever seen plus crab legs and some lobster. Sheesh. I nibbled on some crab and lobster (first time EVER tasting lobster) and they were pretty good. He seemed to think it may have been a bit over-cooked, but still decent. The communal ranch-style beans were blah. Anyway, the whole dead cow thing still disturbs me, and I don't plan to make this place part of my weekly routine, but it was fine. The clientele was a little "special" though. Think cowboy boots with tacky t-shirts and baseball caps left on (there was at least ONE person doing this). Mullets optional.

What can I say...I LOVE steak. Especially if it is done right. I love coming to Cattlemens for some yummy steaks and endless salad. The stuffed mushrooms and bacon wrapped shrimp was also scrumptious. I don't normally like baked beans but here at Cattlemens it is really good. Also, the sauce that Cattlemens makes is awesome! Better then A1. Service here is great and the price is just right.

I love this place...I was sad they closed the Newark location.... All you can eat salad that is nice and fresh.... The steaks are always tremendous... Much better than anything you get from other corporate steak houses....I usually stick with the Pete's special... Cant go wrong, it melts in your mouth ... No steak sauce needed... A great steak at a great price!!!

Update 10/07 - After going back there a couple of more times, I'm taking 1 star away due to poor service and waiter always pushing the extra mushrooms, potatoes and broccoli and not telling you it cost extra. Also, this place is Dinner only. In the area, I think Cattlemens is the best steak you can get for the price. They use Harris Ranch steak and I would recommend the Prime Rib that comes in 3 size cuts. I would forgot "upgrading" to mushrooms (tasteless), broccoli (out of Costco bag and soggy), mashed potatoes (not worth the extra cash) or the fried onions (so much grease it will stain you napkin) and will set you back $5 to $8. Just stick with the steaks that comes with a salad and baked potato. The drinks are fairly cheap there too and good amount of alcohol. The appetizers I would recommend are the potato skins and the artichoke/spinach dip. Other stuff is way too greasy. We go when we want a good steak!

My husband and I are steak afficionados. We've traveled the US on steak quests. We like Cattlemens. The steak was tasty, tender and done just right. He had the ribeye, I had the strip. Best of all, we paid about half of what we did for some of these other steak quests. The 14-oz strip steak was $20, and came with unlimited salad, a baked potato and beans. The steak was aged Harris Ranch, and the quality was apparent. If you're really into steak, you can get the two pound porterhouse for $30.

I love a good steak. Most "steakhouses" either serve low end beef (Outback) or want to charge you a small fortune (ruths chris). Cattlemens is a great alternative. They serve Harris Ranch beef. It is always tender and well cut. The sirloin is never overly "fatty". The tumbleweed onions are great on top of the steak. The salad is always fresh and delicious. Always a great time.

I have to say that every time I go to this restaurant, the customer service is great! The steaks are awesome and the food is prepared just right, even though I had to send back my ribs due to my error and they fixed them just the way I like them with no guilt trip added. AWESOME! I am writing this review because the night we were in, they were extremely busy but Ester was our server and she was great!! We had a party of 6 and she answered all our special requests with a very happy smile and our meal was to die for. She had to work extra hard that night due to the amount of people she had to wait on. Kudos are not handed out enough for people like Ester. So next time you go, have your dinner in the bar and ask for Ester. She'll even warm the place up for ya! (It was really cold in the bar area and we asked her to turn up the heat and she did!) Great job Cattlemens for hiring such great servers!

Food: 3 stars - good overall, but definitely could be better...not too much meat on my ribs...sort of what you'd expect at Chili's...the drinks were packed with ice and very diluted, so I stuck with wine Service: 3 stars - our server was very attentive, but didn't smile at all - I don't think I saw a single smile on any server that night Ambiance: 3 stars, the atmosphere seemed a bit unwelcoming (again, back to smiles), we were told to wait for a table for 15 min, even though the place didn't seem to be packed

Steak & Lobster!!! I always order lobster when ever there is the option and Cattlemen's lobster is super yummy!!! The lobster tails could be a little bit larger but other then that no complaints. You get bread, salad and ranch beans with every meal and when ever I go here I have at least one full box of leftovers. The service here is okay - at one point we were eating here at least once a week and the service is good about 75% of the time. Every time I am craving steak this is where we go - Best steak place in Livermore!

Been driving by this place every time I go to Livermore, and finally decided to try it... The BF took me here for my birthday, plus I had an incentive... e-mailed coupon, which really was intended to try this place for HIS BIRTHDAY next month... Ooops, a month too early... Anyway, 29.99 for a steak and lobster dinner... We had one New Year's Eve at Black Angus in Dublin, but Black Angus wasn't nearly as good as Cattlemen's... This time, lobster was not over cooked, as it was at B.A. and he liked the beans... Go Figure... Plus that sneaky guy mentioned it was my birthday, so they stopped by with a cowboy had for me and sung their version of Happy Birthday... Embarrassing but fun none the less... Overall, the food was great... Steaks very tender, and like I mentioned, Lobster was done up very well... Can't wait to return...
