Love their original and all of the crean cheeses!!!! I ate them all the time because of work breakfast!! Delicious and worth the carbohydrates! ;)

The WORST service!!! What's the point in spending money and anticipating good bagels and coffee if you have to wait over 30 minutes to get SIX bagels, 3 with egg, and 3 coffees??? And they weren't even HOT!! Do yourself a favor and DONT GO HERE!!! Unless you like being aggravated and throwing your hard-earned $ away!

I went to the store at 10 a.m. thinking the breakfast crowd may have thinned out. It hadn't. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese. It took them 38 minutes to prepare my order! They have a moderate selection of breakfast sandwiches but a very poor system for preparing them. Nothing is prepared ahead of time so all of the sandwiches have to be cooked from scratch. When you only have two people cooking eggs and assembling sandwiches, service is slow. I also noticed that their selection of bagels was VERY limited. They had about 8 flavors left and didn't have any more baking.

Their bagels are the best, hands down, and the variety is great. My favorite is the sourdough. I'm only rating it 2 stars, however, for 3 reasons. 1) Despite the fact that they stay open until 4PM, if you want a bagel, you've got to get there very early because they run out and aren't too inclined to make more. By 11AM, there are few to none left. I have no idea what they do until 4PM when they have no bagels. They have lunch offerings, but most of them also involve bagels. 2) They have a bagel cutting machine, but either the blades are too dull to cut or it's just a poor quality machine. This is very inconvenient when I order a dozen bagels to go. I now just take them home and saw through them myself because their machine makes such a mess of them. You would think that a big and profitable business like Einstein's could crack loose with a few bucks and supply their bagel business with decent bagel slicers. 3) If you eat your bagel there, you can forget about having good quality jam for it. They only have a couple of varieties of cheap jelly. Again, it's a business that centers on bagels. It's crazy that they don't have anything beyond cream cheese to put on them. It makes about as much sense as a pancake house not offering syrup. So if you're going, get there early, prepare to wait in a long line, and bring your own jam.

I go to this place way too often for it to be average, but sadly, that's just how it is. Things that have and haven't been said: - $3.79 for orange juice from concentrate. Odd. - Their berry smoothie is made with some weird milk substitute. - Bagels have corn syrup in them. All of them. - Coffee station consistently dirty. - Cream pitchers consistently empty. - Service consistently bad. Like, really bad. I suspect the manager has never run a food service establishment before, because this location is overstaffed and disorganized. Three stars is pretty generous. If you don't like cream cheese, they have a honey butter spread and cinnamon butter spread that are divine. I enjoy their bagel dogs (not on the menu?), blueberry bagels, and cinnamon toast sandwich over any of the other fare in this shopping center.

This is a lot better than the usual Brueggers bagels that I get. Their bagels just seems more fresh and the dough isn't all hard like the bagels at Brueggers are. To me they are actually quite big in size too. I came through in the early mornings to grab some for my family for breakfast. The place is really clean but then again its Irvine and everything is always clean and nice. The customer service was just ok, nothing to spectacular but I really was just gonna grab and go anyways. I picked up a couple of bagels. The chocolate bagel was really delicious. The chocolate chips inside were savory and extremely tasty. I really wanted to grab a garlic bagel but ultimately went against it since it usually doesn't sit to well but I'll definitely be back next time for that. The cream cheese they got are even better than Brueggers too. Whenever I have Brueggers it makes me nauseous for some reason but the cream cheese's aroma here is amazing and I had no signs of nausea at all. Overall, this was my first impression of Einstein Bros. Bagels and I'm quite impressed with them. They have a nice selection of bagels that all tastes fantastic. Final score 3.5 but yelp doesn't have .5s PS even their to-go bag is better than Brueggers lol

Bagels are generally above average, but if you value your time and want any kind of customer service go elsewhere ! Slow and really poor attitude on the part of staff, I spoke to the manager and it is easy to see where the attitude comes from. They should train the staff at the Huntington Beach location, completely different attitude over there, they appreciate our business.

Pros: good bagels Cons: they hardly ever have the ones I want, customer service is abysmal Seriously idk how an Einsteins can be soo bad at selling bagels. They NEVER have the bagel I want. If a certain kind is low, why doesn't someone say something so they can make more or *gasp* anticipate/plan by making more of that particular flavor? I mean for it to be out every morning when I get there just means there's bad planning. To be honest, I would be ok with always being out of some bagels if the customer service here wasn't just so... bad. Never a smile, people don't know what they're doing and I've received a completely wrong order twice. On top of that, no thank you or hello when during your experience. Idk, I normally give people the benefit of the doubt, but it has to be attributable to store culture when it's a consistently bad experience.

Horrible customer service. No welcome, unenthusiastic, and just overall lack proper etiquette. Ordered one of their new bagel toppers on a jalapeño cheddar bagel, called the herbivore. Garlic cream cheese topped with lettuce, tomato, cucumber & I asked for avocado on top. They are so stingy with the amount of avocado placed on top. They were only two VERY small pieces. I love Einstein bagels, but this place was so disappointing.

IF there is a manager employed at this place he/she must be asleep in the back. There is an unorganized line out the door, blocking the self serve coffee area. 3 available registers with only 1 being used. The only person taking orders is also answering phone calls. They need a serious staff role responsibility evaluation. GREAT bagels and coffee tho!!! :)

If u want to start your morning off being pissed off then Eintein's is the perfect place. I'm obviously gluten for punishment, as I've continued to be a patron over 100 times for the tasty bagels. No matter how good their bagels are it truly is not worth the stress and frustration endured. Without exaggeration, every single experience of my 100 plus visits has been unacceptable. Appears if there's new management, but don't be fooled...they recruit from the same pool of incompetence.

Great bagels .. HOWEVER I am TIRED of their crap customer service. I have shrugged off numerous offenses but today, I am going to write a review, in hopes that corporate actually cares about what their customers think. I come here almost weekly to pick up bagels for the office. Today, I called in my order at 6:10am to be ready at 6:45am (pretty simple order; 2 bakers dozens, with the bagels sliced). I arrived at 6:55am and nothing was ready, I was told by the "manager" (fellow in black) to wait a few minutes .. No apologies, no explanation. .. So for the sake of bagels for the office, I waited .. And finally walked out at 7:08am with my bagels, frustrated and aggravated. When he rang me up, I asked him if he was the manager and he hesitated before saying yes, and still no apology. IS IT THAT HARD to have a phone order ready on time? Is it unreasonable to say a simple, we're sorry? You guys just lost out on weekly business .. And a business lesson for all here is that even though you have a great product, ultimately IT WILL FAIL due to incompetent employees and lack of common sense and customer service.

Love Einsteins! Brings me back to my childhood on the east coast. The chocolate chip bagel toasted with honey butter is my all time favorite! Yum!

Recommend: Einsteins Everything bagel is the best I've tried so far. Not recommended: Regular coffee is not that bad, but I'd skip their speciality coffees. There's a Coffee Bean around the corner if you need to have your mochachocofrufrulatte. There's ample seating. You walk up to the counter near the beverages, order your bagel then walk down the other counter to pay, and wait for your order.

The possibilities of this place are awesome! In practice, this is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. I used to stop here every morning for a bagel and coffee, but I just can't do it to myself anymore. The prices are great, and you can't beat $1 coffee! But, I swear, 4 out of 5 times either the coffee was expired, they messed up my order, or they were just inexplicably slow to get food out. One male employee, who will remain nameless, is probably the rudest person working a customer service job I have ever met. Like, do you even care, dude? At least pretend! Come on, we've all had to work for the man at one point in our lives, it's not an excuse to be a crabby person. The last 2 times I was in there, all of the yogurts on the shelf were expired (which I didn't find out until I got to work with it/ had already started eating it). The iced coffee almost always tastes like it is mixed with ashes, dirt, and grounds. Not drinkable in the most desperate of caffeine crashes. If they are even slightly busy, expect your order to be wrong. Usually it is just un-toasted if they are busy, but often it can mean uncooked egg whites, or worse. So gross. I got tired of having to bring back wrong orders, and consuming under cooked or expired food. It's not worth it, spend the extra couple of bucks and travel across the street to Coffee Bean or Corner Bakery.

Shitty/rude service from this Persian/middle eastern girl cashier and the fruit bowl was two days past disgusting. Never again.

Now I've never been to the location, but my work frequently brings boxes of bagels to the office. The bagels are sooo warm, fresh, and soft (at least when they're brought in the morning) and they satisfy my crave for morning carbs. I usually get the sesame with onion & chive cream cheese. Yum!!!! From the other posts, I'm sort of glad I haven't actually been there. I'll just continue dining on the luxury of the office having them!

I was there in morning for first time the guy get my order with glasses and long hair he was mad and give me attitude because he ask me 2 times my name! He doesn't have any smile! I never come back. He makes my day so bad with negative energy.

  • Sharlene H.

So every time I come to this location I ask for the simplest thing which is extra cream cheese that they charge extra for which is no problem for me if they could complete this task but apparently they're too dumb to get it right because they've gotten that wrong every time I go here and I'm left with a dry bagel. So don't expect much if not anything at all.

5/19/15 Jon Silva learn to ring up people in order please and apologize if you made a mistake and say thank you after customers pay. Proper etiquette and customer service 101. Better organization needed for this location.

The service is very slow and they don't have enough people to serve. They make you wait for the bagels to bake.

    (1)
  • Norma W.

I must admit because of the reviews I almost didn't come here. But I had to try the bagels here because they seem to be the best thing on the menu. Well they got that part right. That's it though. I work in customer service myself, so I couldn't believe how the service was. How are they still open. Corporate needs to do something about this. You need to be a people person for something like this. If you are not then get out. Even when I didn't feel good my customers knew it but I was never rude to them. I was always polite and courteous to them. They could tell I wasn't my self and said they hoped I felt better soon. If you are going to have an attitude get lost!

Decided to drop by this location looking for a good bagel while driving through Irvine last Saturday morning. I go to the Einstein in Lake Forest and I love their bagels and their service is fine. This one, however, was different. Upon arriving, it was clear the place was a zoo: huge line, people standing waiting for their food and no room at the tables. When I got to the register, I overheard them say to a customer that they were out of most bagels but with an attitude...kinda like "can't you see we're out?" and pointing down to the glass. I was a little taken back. Luckily I only wanted a sesame bagel, which somehow they had plenty of. But seriously, you're out of most bagels at 9:15 am on a Saturday? Wow. The staff seemed very impatient, throwing attitude at customers and at each other. The lady at the register was also snarky. One person in particular was especially bad, though. He looked to be the shift leader or something. You could tell he just had enough of everyone. I caught him rolling his eyes a couple times and telling customers to "go look at the glass" when they asked him "what flavors do you have left." I waited probably 10 minutes at least for my bagel, where I had plenty of time to just hang back and observe the chaos behind the counter. This place is a mess. Customers seemed like they'd been there a while waiting. So, in summary: Bad attitudes, poor inventory planning and long waits. I would definitely avoid this place - especially on a Saturday morning.

I feel really bad writing this review. Me and my wife recently visited this place on Fathers Day for a quick breakfast. We ordered two Everything bagels, two Asiago bagels, and some OJ. 3+ Stars for the bagels and their freshness - we even ate the last two a day later. :) -2 Stars for the OJ - it literally tasted like water and it appears to be made from concentrate - really disappointed!

  • Bryan D.

Hands down the worst customer service I have seen, and I've been in customer service industry a long time. I am not sure why the turn around on orders take so long, but it's the fact that they do not acknowledge any customers and their lack of communication that frustrates me. The team always looks disorganized and frantic when TRYING to complete orders in a timely manner, in doing that they neglect other basic needs of the consumers. To add insult to injury, this place is always filthy. no sign of any effort to clean the shop on a regular basis.

  • Maggie T.

I don't know why I keep subjecting myself to the terrible service here. I keep coming back in hopes they will improve because I really do enjoy their bagels. Every time I come in here, the staff is apathetic and move with no sense of urgency. They see all of us standing in line, look at us, and don't think "Hey, these people are on their way to work, I should jump in and take some orders." When you finally do get helped (after 10 minutes in a short line), they don't even apologize for the wait. What's worse? I purchased a coffee, went to the coffee bar, could only fill my cup up a little less than halfway. It's 8 am, and you don't have your coffee fully stocked? I didn't even bring it up to them because the manager clearly doesn't care and I was already late due to waiting in line for far too long. I've been in food for 9 years, and to see this was just disappointing. I usually go to Breuggers down the street. This is a great reminder why.

  • Beau J.

This location is super busy...took about 20 mins to get a bagel and a coffee Saturday. I was rewarded for my long wait with a dirty coffee cup, yes dirty brand new paper cup, a cold bagel and it looks like it was sliced by Chewbacka! This place is in desperate need of proper management.

I always wondered why this Einstein Bros Bagels got 3-stars from reviewers. I got many times bagels from here and enjoyed it very much. I also hanged out with some of my friends early mornings and liked everything. Today, I stopped by again and everything was OK until I reached the cashier and waited for about ten minutes. I counted the people in the line and it was exactly 18. I could not imagine how long the last person in the line was going to wait. Besides waiting so long, I enjoy it a lot and give 4-stars to this place.

    (4)
  • Amanda H.

I ordered a blueberry bagel toasted with plain cream cheese. 4 people who ordered after me received their food before me. I had to go up and ask for my order. Waiting 10 minutes in a bagel shop for something so simple when there is no line is silly. The food lived up to expectation and was satisfying.

Great bagels but the service is simply awful Employees slow and rude and you always stand in a ridiculous line! As I write 18 people in line!!! I downgraded to a 1 it took 30 minutes to get 1 bagel My husband got a haircut and was done before me

Well this has taken me along time to do this. But today was the day that broke the camels back. I love their bagels, but if management does not come in here and clean house (literally and figuratively) they will loose tons of business. *Starting with the manager. The older, blonde woman is soooo incredibly rude and unkind. She has a constant RBF. And as a manager you should have a cheery disposition and talk with patrons with respect and admit when your employees screwed up. And as a result, her employees are rude and never admit to their mistakes (only speaking for me and my experience) *A majority of the mornings it is realllyyyy hard to find a bagel you want, because they are almost all gone before 9. It seems there should be better planning in prepping and baking the bagels, where the bins are filled at all times between their heavy hours of business. I know it's possible (ie Brueggers) *Also they charge you almost $3 for bagel and shmear, but this last time there was literally a tiny bit of cream cheese on my bagel. A majority of my bagel was void of anything. I took a picture and will post it. It is ridiculous and unnecessary. That is straight up management. I had a manager hand our bagels to us and never did she acknowledge the absence of shmear. If I'm paying $3 a bagel, you best be shmearing the freak out of my bagel. *Lines out the door due to slowwww workers *Dirty floors and counters in the dining room. This place is ridiculous and I'm praying if more and more people write reviews, maybe, just maybe, regional or corporate will address the bad behavior and business of this location. **update** its 9:27 am and NOTHING is in the bins. Ridiculous!!

  • Anna O.

Made a mistake of going back....I'm still being nice leaving a 2 stars. I like their bagel (nova lux) I DISLIKE their manager. Will only go back if I hear that the lady manager RETIRES. I think her rude attitude is passing on to some of her crew members.

    (2)
  • Jackie P.

Customer service is alright, I just come here for the jalapeño bagel with the sun dried tomato "double whipped schmear" People often complain about the wait, but it's mostly because they order their bagel with food items other things than cream cheese which takes longer to make. I got my bagel and cream cheese in just a few minutes during rush. Would come again, absolutely love the sun dried tomato cream cheese!

Just left our local store which I've repeatedly slammed for awhile now. WOW big big improvements. Plenty of bagels. Coffee full. Space clean. Smiling friendly staff. Great bounceback from the abyss of customer service hell. Way to go guys! So excited to tell everyone in our neighborhood and all our friends at the JCC that this location is reliable again!!!

I used to stop by two or three times a week before going to work and order a cinnamon and raisin breakfast bagel with egg and cheese, with a small coffee. I've had to cut this out of my daily routine for health reasons (unrelated to bagels) and miss it greatly. Just wanted to say that the staff are always pleasant and very fast with getting the orders out. I'll still go and get my usual, but maybe once or twice a month now.

  • Deanna W.

I hate this place. Yes good bagels but it's always a mess. They are always so slow. What takes so long? Other bagel places like brueggers bagels go so much quicker. Maybe they need to hire more employees or make the store bigger to accommodate those employees. Or streamline ur process. They lose so much business bc no one wants to wait. Wait is always 20-40 min long. If this was amazingly good id understand the line but they are just ok. Nothing special. Only go here if you have no other choice otherwise I'd recommend driving a little further to brueggers or Brooklyn bagel.

  • Philip A.

Just waited for 40 minutes to get two plain bagels and a panini. Place is a zoo and mismanaged. Einstein can calculate the speed of light, but makes bagels the speed of slow. Stay clear to maintain your sanity.

  • Al S.

First off, let me say that their bagels are really good, especially when they are fresh out of the oven. But everything else is horrible. We came in for breakfast around 9am. The store was empty and we were the only ones there at the time. We stood in line for 5 minutes and all the employees simply ignored us. We finally got some service and ordered a turkey sausage & egg bagel and a spinach egg bagel. I watched how they made the sandwich. They were made via microwave!!! Wtf!!! If I wanted microwaved food, I could've stayed at home and made it myself. I couldn't believe I paid almost $11 for microwaved food. Then their dining area was filthy. Crumbs were on every table and the workers didn't seem to care. I had to wipe the table down myself just to eat at a clean table. I would never come back here again. I gave them 2 stars just for their bagels...they actually deserve 1 star. But their cleanliness, customer service, and sandwiches are horrible. Do not waste your money on their breakfast sandwiches. Just buy the frozen microwaveable boxes at a grocery store. It's the same quality.

Overall a fun experience when it isn't packed. The atmosphere is serene during the morning and the place is clean, customer service was adequate and not rushy. Overall I was pleased and the Orange juice is always great! Bagels are tasty but not the best but their spreads are great!

Customer service isn't terrible like most people here say. That said, they do run out of almost everything and never really plan ahead. I used to love their bagels but I can't really say that anymore. A few weeks ago I went in and bought an everything bagel, which is a little roasted garlic, and mostly poppy seeds and sesame seeds with some salt. I get my bagel, and drive back to my place to find a mostly fennel seed bagel. I thought it was a one time thing, probably just a fluke, so I ended up throwing it away (since fennel seeds taste really strong and generally just don't taste good). I came back today hoping the recipe had been fixed, so I could get a bagel and head to San Diego for a meeting. They had none up front (of course) so they grabbed a couple in the back for me and I left thinking my bagels would be fine. Everything bagel #1 was large chunks of roasted garlic (gross when there isn't anything to offset the flavor) and hundreds of fennel seeds. Just the nastiest bagel I can imagine. I took a bite and immediately knew I had made a mistake. Everything bagel #2 appeared to have paper ingrained into it along with the fennel seed / roasted garlic combo. The paper had some stringy stuff on it as well, not sure what it was but I honestly didn't want to know. Obviously I just put it back in the bag and threw it away (at this point I didn't want to drive all the way back). So I guess if you are some weird person who enjoys random trash and disgusting combinations in your bagel, this might be the perfect spot for you. If not, pass on it.

Today will be the last time I visit this location. It took me over half an hour to get a bagel and a latte with zero customer service. The baristas did not know how to make a vanilla latte.

  • Ash P.

Bagel was good, service = not so good. I stopped in today at noon on the way to an appointment. I guess there's not much of a selection of bagels left at this hour... there were only about 5 choices, so I ended up ordering the Power Protein Muffin (toasted) with a side of cream cheese - TO GO. After I ordered, I noticed about 5 people standing around who turned out to be still waiting for their orders!! There was only one person behind the counter making the food and one person ringing people up. I paid for my muffin and waited. Then waited some more... then still waited. Saw some employees come out from the back and tried to help the one guy. Ended up being about 12 mins to get my freaking muffin!

I love bagels and Einstein's is right across from my work so I work it into my usually breakfast routine every week. The bagels are very fresh and tasty and around $2.75 for a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I tried their OJ today and wasn't very impressed. It's around $4 for a large and it's completely made of concentrate. Gross and overpriced. :( I've had lunch here before and can't say that I'd come back. I had the chipotle club and it was pretty bland and didn't even look that fresh. Now if you want a great chipotle club, head down Jamboree for Shirely's Bagels. TLDR: Breakfast bagels yes, Lunch bagels no

Food: - Cappuccino and latte are the only things i have tried. both the latte and cappuccino had too much foam and very little coffee.. it feels like drinking milk foam with a hint of caffeine. totally disappointed. - they have tons of bagels with different flavors. the sesame one ran out faster than the rest. the bagels look pretty good but some didnt look so appetizing or fresh. maybe leftovers from yesterday?! - different flavors of spreads are available to buy to go as well. might be a good idea to buy it and eat it with breakfast toast perhaps.. Service: - there were 4-5 guys working behind the counter even though there were barely anyone inside. maybe they should try to clean the dirty and messy dining table instead of idly chatting. - my coffee came out pretty fast which isnt surprising because i am only drinking foam Price: - these two cups of joe cost me a little under $6. pretty expensive for the quality of drink i got. spending it on starbucks or peets or coffee bean is definitely a wise decision.

I like their bagels but I always reluctant to visit this location because it's a rare treat if they smile at you or display friendly attitude Today I gave them a coupon for free shmear with purchase of six bagels and that made me buy another tube of shmear because the coupon indicates it only good for half bagel box. Who knows these bagels taste so good when you pile so much cream cheese on them haha. What to do with two tube of shmear when you only have six bagels? Oh brother!

Good bagels, but not nearly good enough to compensate for the nasty service. Manager today (Saturday morning) was a total d-bag. Oven was down, I get it. But that's no excuse to be shitty to your customers. I'm going elsewhere for my bagel.

I've been shopping in this shopping plaza for years and I've FINALLY tried this spot! I'm so glad I did! It was pretty busy on a Sunday morning. The whole place was packed with customers and the line was almost out the door. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese. IT WAS AMAZING... or maybe I just like bagels a little too much. It was packed with just the right amount of cream cheese. My boyfriend had a breakfast bagel sandwich with eggs, cheese, and bacon.. yumm! With two iced coffees, our breakfast cravings had been satisfied! Friendly staff too! I can't wait to try some of the other stuff on their menu!

They finally have what looks like an efficiency expert behind the counter, so A for effort in response to bad reviews. She did however argue openly with most of the staff and was not wearing a hat. I do love my tuna melt, so I'll be coming back. You can get there guys!

Their bagels are never good, they never have any bagels, the managers crazy & rude & other times she's completely fine and nice, everyone looks miserable working their, they take forever, I use to go because it's convenient now I won't go at all!

Love Einstein's bagels. The service is always very fast and effcient, making it great for a quick early morning breakfast stop. They have a large variety of flavors and don't usually run out in the morning. They also serve their whole menu the entire day... perfect for grabbing a lunch sandwich! The only downside to purchasing a single bagel is the cost of the cream cheese. While a bagel itself is only $1.29, the plain cream cheese is an additional $1.50. Although the bagels are much better than those at the store, the plain cream cheese isn't.

This is my favorite bagel place. It's also the closest location to me at 7 miles away and I still make it at least once or twice a week. I love their coffee! I absolutely love their pastries! Not to mention the best bagels around (and I used to live in NY). My favorite are poppyseed and potato bagels. They also have bagels for your doggie! :) Love this place!

Those spongy things they serve are not bagels. It's just cheap white bread that kind of looks like a bagel from a distance.

Friday morning. 8:30am. Craving my usual Bagel. Today was complete letdown. Requested my usual bagel. All out. In fact, all out of EVERYTHING!!! Just empty bins. Only a pumpernickel left. Apologies from them "had several large orders today". Really??? Einstein, how about setting a "pre-order" requirement (like 24 hr notice), so us casual walk-in customers don't get shafted? This is a bagel shop, isn't it?

  • Jacob k.

**EDIT** So I decided to give this place another try. Once again it was my turn to pick up bagels on Friday around 8am. This time they were completely out of bagels. They only had about 7 or 8 plains left. How in the world does this happen??? On a Friday!!! Most likely the busiest day of the week for the people. I didn't even bother complaining I just left and went to a place that always has bagels. Panera Bread. The Bagels are pretty good and the service is good as well. However, how hard is it to be stocked in bagels when you're A BAGEL SHOP??!! I mean come on people. They're always out of the same bagels. Every Friday it's the same story. I ask, Why don't you make sure you have more of this bagel type? They say, oh sorry sir but i don't make those decisions. Give me a break. It's like starbucks being out of coffee. Your manager should be fired.

Great selection.....haven't had a bagel that wasn't yummy yet!

Great bagels and tasty OJ! The only thing I didn't like was when I asked for the cinnamon bagel the girl said "It's just a plain bagel with butter and cinnamon on top." Yeah, no shit! I still want it!!!!

Honestly, probably one of the worst bagel shops I've been to. I know Einstein Bros is really famous and well known, and I've heard a lot of good thing about their bagels fresh - they're okay, but the quality is horrible for the price. I went in a couple weeks ago at 7:00 AM; I figured I would be out of there on time for my 8:00 AM final exam. I ended up paying about $6 for burnt coffee and a bagel. I didn't eat the bagel.. Why? Because I decided that after waiting until 7:30 AM (30 minutes of idleness), I wasn't going to wait another MINUTE waiting for a mediocre bagel. Long story short: their service sucks, and their quality is not worth the price. I was never refunded or anything. I will not be attending this franchise again; I am so disappointed.

Like other people said - good bagels, bad service. I usually go by this location later in the day and everything's fine - four stars. But went in this Friday morning at about 7:45 - 8:00; waited 10 minutes in line to put in my order for a coffee and toasted bagel with cream cheese. No warning from anyone about extra delay. Then after not being given my coffee cup (I didn't notice right away because I also got water), I went back, 10 minutes after placing my order, to check on the bagel. And was told it would be at least another 10 minutes because "there's an order for 8 sandwiches in front of me." When the bagel did arrive after 10 minutes, it was cold and hard. Obviously had been sitting around. No apologies, nothing to make it right. TL;DR: 10 minutes to order a bagel and coffee; 20 minutes to get it; so half an hour from the time I walked in until I got my order. Waayyyy too long for a bagel place.

  • Cheryl V.

Popped in for a bagel and coffee. It is 7:30am. They are already out of plain bagels. They were also out of regular coffee, you could only get the super dark roast. How do you not keep an eye on something like that? Not coming back here.

Worst experience ever! The attitude of the staff was horrible specially the managers. I had purchased 5 bagels to go. When I arrived home I noticed I was missing one bagel. I called the Store and the employee said I could go and pick up a new one. So I did but when I did that's when the staff became assholes. I was told that they never received a call and that they would simply not make my 2 dollar bagel. I had the receipt and everything. I spoke with the manager (Kathy) and I was told she couldn't help me... And left.. never apologized or anything. After 15 mins one of the employees got the manager again to speak with me. She finally said fine I'll get your bagel. What I witnessed next was just unbelievable. The manager went to an employee and asked him to make a bagel. The employee said I can't make it now I'll make it whenever I want. I was like Wtf first of all you don't talk back to your supervisor like that. Anyways worst experience ever.

Incredibly rude and disrespectful workers. I come in once every week or two weeks and order a simple 2 chocolate chips bagels toasted, nutella on the side with cranberry toasted, cream cheese on the side and everything cut into eighths. Today was an intentionally planned delay with giving us our order. There were two people ahead of me with their order and more customers behind me. My order was purposefully filled by the ULTRA SLOOOOW ACTING long haired guy who hates customers and perhaps is completely ignorant that his paycheck comes from customers. By the time I got my order it was "17 minutes" per the manager (older woman with ponytail). I asked for the manager and let her know that the long haired ponytail guy (can't say he's man when he acts like a child) deliberately gave us our food slowly. She apologized and tried to give us two coupons for free bagels. I DON'T THINK SO. It is sad when a store is not managed properly when they have good product. It is sad when workers are allowed to be disrespectful to customers when customers pay their paycheck. It is sad when the manager works with the employees to try to make customers not want to come back. Clearly THIS STORE NEEDS A NEW MANAGER AND NEW WORKERS WITH GOOD ATTITUDE. The one star is for the good workers (you know who you are) who have to put up with the scumbags in the store.

    (1)
  • Brandon B.

Terrible. I got 2 bagel breakfast sandwiches and it wasn't eve hot and it tasted like crap. Not ok for 6 bucks a bagel. And the manager was rude, not to us, but the person in front of me. Totally snarled at him and snatched his bagel from him.

    (1)
  • Devang D.

Great bagels! Good coupons too. Came by here at 11am to get the bakers dozen. 70% of the bagel trays were empty. They won't bake new ones either. Too bad! Going to have to go somewhere else. I guess you come here early or don't bother.

THE place 'around here' to satisfy one's bagel fix. The diverse offering of spreads or "smear" pair well with the bagels. Some of my favorite spreads are 'onion & chive' and 'almond & honey.' Favorite bagels are the "everything" and "cheese & jalapeno" bagel. This was my first time at an actual EB store. Other experiences were from when the boss brought them into work or at a satellite location on campus. This store experience was disappointing. I stopped in at around 8:40a for a breakfast bagel. Being a store, I was expecting the preparation to be not so satellitish. The egg portion was microwaved and super hot. The Neighborhood blend coffee was not to my liking. It was more acidic (tangy) than I would have liked. However, I did discover that it goes well with a lot of half & half added. Worst of all and like some of commented, the wait time was a bit long. If not for the awesome bagels, this place would have been ranked much lower. Next time, I am going to do a get in and get out--and not order hot food.

The food is great but takes time. Quality over quantity is the norm here, as they are a small shop.

  • Edward P.

Pros: Pretty solid choices of bagels with other cool offerings as well. Cons: Staff and service could be a bit more friendlier. Overall: If you're looking for a bagel for breakfast or lunch, Einstein's isn't a bad option.

I just left Einsteins Bagels in Harvard Square. The bagels were slim pickings (so I ended up with only one of my favorites), the tables weren't cleaned off, the trash was overflowing to the point customers were going outside to dump their trash, receipt printout still not working. This is my second visit to this location this week. The first visit I bought 3 dozen bagels and specifically said I wanted 2 chocolate chip bagels and 2 cinnamon raisin bagels in each box...I get to work, no cinnamon raisin and 1 chocolate chip in one of the boxes...I don't know if I got the ones not selling that day, plus the guy that waited on me didn't seem to want to be there. What happened, this used to be a great place.....I guess I need to find a new bagel place to buy bagels.....

I usually go to the EInstein in Long Beach but was in Irvine this morning, 85 degrees wasn't open, and to my disappointment, neither was Bon Epi, who usually are early on Sunday mornings. Einstein was conveniently close to the Diamond-Jamboree Plaza. Just an observation, I found the caravan of Irvine police that passed me by earlier parked at Einstein. That's a good sign I suppose, they have a broader palette than donuts, but apparently like the shape of round things with holes. I walked in, and noticed the combo for a bagel, shmear, and medium coffee for $3.99 right away. Not bad! Unfortunately, I had to forgo my favorite dutch apple bagel because the "gourmet" bagels were an additional charge. I settled on the pumpkin bagel with my usual reduced fat honey almond shmear. It was good but not nearly as great as the dutch apple. I chose the Autumn blend coffee that I figured would complement my pumpkin. It was alright. It tasted more like maple, than the chestnut flavor they claimed it tastes like. All in all, it was what I expected. You can't go wrong hence why I always return. I'll most likely end up at my LB location again rather than Irvine. This one took too long and wasn't as clean as what I'm used to. They do have great bagels though and are very reasonable in price. Again, try the Dutch Apple with the honey almond shmear. It will make your morning happy.

The one star is for the bagels and the bagels ONLY. Customer service is a joke, they've messed up my orders multiple times. The system the store has is not working, or maybe the workers are just too slow but my patience is tested every time I go here. Only reason I enter this store is when my mom wants a bagel otherwise I avoid at all costs.

    (1)
  • Noah A.

Good bagels, when they are available. It seems they sell-out of 70% of the bagels by 10:00am and don't make any more. Service is just o.k. - the staff could be nicer. What happened to service with a smile? Floors are usually pretty dirty as well.

    (3)
  • Robin D.

I have been getting bagels here for at least 8 years. The staff is always friendly and helpful even when the line is out the door. Plus, the pumpernickel bagel is the best I've ever had.

  • Diane R.

I learned of Einstein's about a year ago when I coworker brought them into the office. I became an immediate fan. If I'm ever going to bust my diet for a bagel, this is where I go. I recently had the pretzel bagel with apple cinnamon smear - so yummy!

    (5)
  • Ellie K.

Bagels are great! I highly suggest a pretzel bagel with blueberry cream cheese its a great blend of salty and sweet. The service is terrible. The line never moves quickly. They have gotten my order wrong three separate times twice the wrong cream cheese and once the wrong kind of bagel. I now always check in my bag to see if it's right before I leave.

    (4)
  • Super F.

Great bagels. Fresh tasty, good selection of cream cheese. The service ruins it. Slow, most of the employee are always new so they don't know the menu. And when they are busy all hell brakes loose. Too bad, because it could be easily the best bagel place in OC.

    (3)
  • Carrie G.

I could never review an Einstein's poorly! Never. I love me some bagels and Einsteins has always done it right. This is one of those super interesting Einsteins where all the corporate families go on Saturday or Sunday mornings to eat breakfast with their families...it makes for interesting people watching (at least as an outsider/tourist). Five Cheese bagel or Nacho Cheese bagel. Lots of schmear. Toasted. Delicious! Egg and Ham sandwich. Sesame seed bagel. Also delicious! What else can I say?

    (5)
  • Skydog C.

Been going here since it opened (many years ago), and never a problem. The negative reviews are whiners. Einstein gets busy because people like going there and getting their bagels, simple as that.

    (4)
  • Jeff M.

Best bagel place in this area. If you like spicy, get the green chili bagel with the jalapeno cream cheese. Make sure they toast it. The lines can get long in the morning and if you get there after nine many of the popular bagels are out..

    (5)
  • Sara A.

The bagels are decent but this place is super chaotic all the time. The order system is confusing and the place is claustrophobic.

    (3)
  • Allen S.

I came in for lunch and to use their free wi-fi. I'm giving an extra star for the staff - very helpful. The problem I have every time I go into Einsteins is their many good selections. So I'm standing there, overwhelmed, when the staff person starts making suggestions - I like that ... way to go. So what did I end up having ... a wheat bagel with peanut butter and jelly (you suck Allen) .... what can I say, I just had that craving for peanut butter and jelly ... and the bagel wasn't even toasted! I was in weird mood for that lunch hour. But it was the best PB&J bagel sandwich I have had in a long time. I'm so weird.

    (4)
  • Nicole P.

Second time I ordered from them and same problem, over an hour late on delivery (even though I placed order a week ahead of time) then forgot most of our order. They are not organized, helpful, nor should they be doing deliveries if they cannot handle the work load. I will order from Brueggers, or Shirley's next time so I know I can get the order correct, and on time

    (1)
  • Tanda M.

Some of the FRIENDLIEST employees EVER! They get your order, you pay and your get your food and go! Simple and quick, the way it should be! The bagel sandwiches are a hit and served all day.

    (4)
  • Kia G.

I never have a bad experience here. The employees are always patient and friendly. And that's good for me because is like to try something new every time. They have a great selection which allows me to do so. And to be completely honest, their coffee is some of the best I've ever had...

    (5)
  • Lauren V.

I was confused at first as to why it wasn't very busy seeming cute breakfast spots aren't typically short of foot traffic. Okay bagels but sort of rude employees. I didn't feel welcomed at all. Corner Bakery is in the same shopping center, I'll be grabbing my bagel from there next time. Work on customer service Einstein.

    (3)
  • James B.

What's not to like at Einstein Bros? They have a large selection of freshly baked bagels every day along with their yummy collection of Einstein Bros Shmears. I've tried all the shmears and they were all very good.

    (4)
  • Laurie K.

Service is awful! They forget about orders, get orders wrong, and are just slow. We will not be coming here anymore. We've given it a lot of chances because it is close to home but NOT worth the aggravation!

  • Yunnie L.

I gave a shot again after the last week disappointment from the lady, Cathy, who insisted nothing wrong with the bagels I got. Today, I took the picture n did the comparison. Went in, she was not there. Talked to another lady who is very nice. I have four star for her customer service. Yet, I hope she did let Cathy know I showed the picture what over baked bagels are!

    (4)
  • Marlene T.

2 stars only because the bagels are excellent. I absolutely HATE the service here. Employees are always rude, it seems like they don't want our business. I am very suprised that after all the customer complaints, nothing has been done to improve...tsk tsk

    (2)
  • Rosemary T.

Service: Snobby, crappy, confusing (order one end and pay another - basically you need to wait in line twice) Coffee: tastes like instant coffee, not fresh brewed coffee. Ordered Caffe Latte like the menu stated and got questioned by the cashier what kind of Caffe Latte I want to order... weird... it's on your menu? Bagel: Good, but not anything special. Cut uneven, so one side was under toasted the other was over toasted. Tip: Be prepare to be confused & put up with attitude.

  • Hilary S.

Best bagel in town, WORST service. And I mean THE. WORST. For years. Always out of bagels, always slow, customers always complain. Not sure what's wrong with the owners/management but they lucked out by having zero competition in the area. If a better place opened nearby, they'd be out of business.

  • Danielle D.

Bagels are consistently good to hear staff is always friendly I've been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad experience... Coffee is ok could be better ... But I really enjoy sitting infront drinking java eating my bagel. Great people watching

  • Anna P.

What the !@#$... That pretty much sums up my feelings about this location. The tables are sticky, the staff is rude and pretentious. I'm sorry I didn't realize I have to order my bagel at the furthest side of the store and then come up to the other register to pay... This location sucks. I don't usually give out 1 star reviews, but this places is just unbearable. All that being said, I used to be a big fan of Noah's Bagels and I'm a big fan of Einstein Bros (I believe Noah's was bought by them), and I have no complaints about other locations, it's just this specific place that grosses me out. Oh, almost forgot, my friend got sick after eating their breakfast bagel with egg.

  • Jill J.

I've been here by myself and in a large group, and its always consistent. The coffee is decent (they offer soy milk :D) and the bagels are always fresh. I wouldn't recommend their juices and OJ though... its pretty expensive for concentrate. The employee Emanuel is awesome! i don't think i go there that often but he remembers my order and always welcomes me back :).

The best place for bagels!! So fresh and so clean clean. It's usually always busy but the staff is on it and get it done. Also very friendly and helpful at 6 am.

Picked up donated bagels for Walk Like MADD event. How wonderful of this business. Thank you so much!

    (5)
  • Dan S.

The line was so ridiculously long! I was there for 20 minutes before ordering. It appeared that they were short-staffed and had very little selection of bagels available at the time. Not coming back and that is a shame because I love their bagels.

    (1)
  • Risya L.

I call this place fake bagels. Probably because I'm partial to the way bagels should be made. I give you these stars only because the service is usually good, and your selection of bagels are typically good. I really enjoy your lighter side menu. With the bagel thin and egg white sandwich. Though I think your prices for juice are a little extreme I still go here every once in a blue moon.

  • Ron S.

I have been coming here for a very long time, I love their bagels, and I prefer them over all others in the area. But corporate really has to take a closer look at this location. The older blonde manager does not care about this place or how it does, she just does not have the drive or motivation, every time an employee actually gets the hang of this place and tries to provide a nice level of customer service they end up disappearing in a few weeks! I just don't get it. Does she not wanna change the place? Or do the employees just not get along? Most of the employees here have the IQ of a turtle, and they think they are making bagels and sandwiches for their own friends, no respect, no service no nothing! They forget the fact that we are paying their wages! The only reason I gave a 3/5 is because I love the product. Every time I go to the restroom here I am reminded of del taco, cause these two places are the only ones that come to mind where I wanna skip the restroom due to its filth! Infact this place topped Del, I found a dead cockroach in the Einstein men's restroom once! Corporate DO NOT lose us! Swap the manager get a younger motivated person, clean this place up! And change the kids that u have making the stuff!

I'm a huge lover of pretzels and pretzel related foods, so I was jazzed when I saw that they carry pretzel bites with a side of honey mustard. Unfortunately, I actually hated them. They were a million times too salty, even after dusting off the salt. It was as if they were soaked overnight in salt water. The honey mustard was runny and tasted bitter. They can have my 3 stars though because I love bagels, period. I'm positive that had I ordered something else, I would have enjoyed it. My husband liked what he ordered, so we left full and overall happy.

  • Kat H.

I had their pumpkin muffin. It was not as dessert-y as a I expected which was good. I wanna try their challah. My bf gets cinnamon bagel with strawberry cream cheese every time, which is way too dessert-y for breakfast. Nothing really spectacular about this place but no complaints!

It was my first time eating here (I had a coupon for $3 off any lunch sandwich and so had to check this place out). My first attempt failed because I didn't know they close really early. They closed at 4pm and I came around 4:05pm. Knowing that, my second attempt was successful. I chose a lunch panini since that was what the coupon was for. I ordered an ITALIAN CHICKEN PANINI on a multi-grain bread with the side of a POTATO SALAD. The ITALIAN CHICKEN PANINI was spot-on! The panini grilled made the exterior of the bread crunchy (but not too crunchy where it scratches the roof of your mouth). The ingredients that make up the panini--chicken, red peppers, spinach, mozzarella cheese, and this sauce that put it all together--were cooked nicely and was hot/warm to the taste. I am a big fan of all the ingredients, maybe that's why I loved this panini so much. Even after I realized how many calories the entire sandwich made up, I didn't care! The POTATO SALAD was alright. I've had better, but at the same time it wasn't bad. I'm happy with almost any potato salad. Hahaha. I would love to come back and try out their bagels or even their Bagel-thin sandwiches, but I'll probably wait for another coupon.

I am very very disappointed in this location. I am actually a fan of einstein bagels, as a whole.. .. but this place just ruined my morning I came in and asked for a breakfast bagel: asparagus, mushroom and swiss on a REGULAR asiago and REGULAR eggs (cause the asp much swiss is usually on a bagel thin). the dude at the order-stand didnt know how to do it, i guess he was new. so he asked some girl over to help him out. and i told her what I wanted. and she told me there was an asiago bagel thin, but i said no thanks, i want the regular asiago bagel. .. .. .. .. i was in such a good mood, i even bought some overpriced, mundane quality orange juice (taste like the cheap one i can get at mcdonalds) .. .. and then i got my order.. .. .. since it was to-go it was all wrapped up. i just took my bagel and orange juice to school. opened it up in my car and DAMN THE DISAPPOINTMENT of this SHITTY bagel -_- they gave me a BAGEL THIN which i specifically said i didnt want.. .. .. my asparagus muchroom swiss order DID NOT HAVE SWISS O_O' rawr no cheese .. .. the regular egg i asked for was indeed not given to me, and i got eggwhite instead... ahhh the angerrrrrr!!! and you know what.. even if they screwed up cause my order is complicated, that's BARELY forgivable... but damn... ... even the default begal thin version of my order has their special TOMATO spread... ... guess what?? NO TOMATO SPREAD.... not only that, the bagel thin they toasted was SO HARD... it was practically burnt -_- i felt like it was a pain to bite into that bagel... can you say DRY AND TASTELESS -_- freaken epic waste of money... i should have just waited to go to schoool (UCI) to get my einstein bagels at phoenix grill.. .. rwr... next time i want quality bagels i'm going to the java city on culver so they dont piss me off.. .. .. dont get me wrong, the place was clean, great atmosphere, blah blah blah... the workers were really nice and stuff -_- but thats not what i needed.. ... i just wanted my YUMMY BREAKFAST !!!!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh =( so UNSATISFYING

This is the best place to get bagels. Bring in a bucket for your coworkers, and they will all love you ;) Also, be sure to sign up for their email list because they are always sending out special offers and coupons! The bagels are soft, never stale, and come in a huge variety of tasty flavors. They also have a whole bunch of "schmears" to choose from. My personal favorite is the sun-dried tomato. Customer service here is on par with what you would expect from Irvine (good), but it is a little slow, both in the morning (when many people are stopping in on the way to work) and during lunch (when there is barely anyone there). If you love McDonald's breakfast sandwiches and are in the mood for something a little "more", Einsteins offers plenty of options for that too (even for the health conscious). I had a lox bagel here today for lunch. Since it was later in the day, they were out of a lot of the bagels I wanted (whole wheat, everything, etc). Had to settle for a sesame seed bagel. The red onions were extremely strong though because they were cut very thick. That was a turn off. I ended up picking them off the bagel.

Don't come here for breakfast if you're trying to start your day on a positive note. Stopped by here last week when I was in the area around 10am and it was pretty empty at the time. When I went up to order I politely said hello and asked the girl how she was doing. I didn't think it was that weird or out of the ordinary but then the girl just gave me a stare that said "I don't care". Fine. Then in the middle of my order, the girl started shouting out the back that they were running low on a certain bagel. I'm ordering ONE bagel, you can wait until I'm done to start screaming. Then when she asked for my name, I clearly spelled it out for her but she didn't even try to spell it correctly. I know I don't have a common name, but when my order was ready they called out "Dora", which isn't even close so I had no idea it was mine. When no one went to claim it, I realized I was Dora, but when I went up to ask about it, no one wanted to be bothered with my question. Obviously I'm not expecting extraordinary customer service from a place like this, but some common manners and decency is appreciated. 2 stars for the bagel being good, but I will not be coming back here.

This place struck out with me, and will not get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression. I ordered two sandwiches and a side of cream cheese, to go, from one employee. Then I paid money to a 2nd employee who repeated the order, forgetting the side of cream cheese. I had her add it to the order again and she said she got it. Then I watched a 3rd employee make my order, which took forever because she was fulfilling all other orders. Finally, a 4th employee calls my name and hands me the to-go bag. I get home, there is no side of cream cheese! Great job guys! Maybe you should fix your system because there is clearly a lack of communication and organization. I'll be going to Panera from now on because they are more efficient and customer service oriented. One star because I would have felt bad calling to curse someone out.

I always have great bagels when I come here. Today, I had a chocolate chip bagel, which has just come out of the oven! My favorite! I got regular cream cheese and it's so soft! Bagels are only a dollar by themselves! Such a great price for bagels and great customer service!

  • Kim K.

This is one of my favorite bagel spots in Irvine. If you go early in the morning on a weekday they will have more of a selection but expect there to be a line. However, if you go in the afternoon sometimes they run out of things. I went here with my mom and they gave her the wrong bagel. After fighting with the cashier for a refund we ended up leaving. That was the only bad experience I have ever had with this place. I think when they are more crowded they get a little bitter and their customer service skills are crap. I would still come here only bagels the bagels are freshly made and very tasty.

I've never been a bagel fan. I'll have one or 2 a year normally at work when someone brings them in for free & I'm starving for whatever reason that early in the day. My mind is always made up when I take one out of the bag, "Hard hockey puck with a whole in it, but it fills you up before lunch, cool!" Buuuuuut, then I had one of the Einstein Bro's & was hooked. All I can say is there super soft cold or at room temperature but once you heat one of these boyz up they turn super crusty & soft like regular baked bread. This is the way a bagel should feel & taste! It should be, what it's supposed to be, a baked good, not a baked brick!

Yeah! Anything less than a 5 star and they're just haters that probably kick little puppies. These people rock and are great customer servicers! I had gone here five years and never did the survey on the receipt. DO IT! You'll save yourself wads of cash on coffee, as they give you a free coffee (or the more expensive latte). I've since become addicted to the skinny vanilla hazelnut latte, and then get free refills at their coffee station. And if you're going to pay for coffee, bring your own mug for chrissakes, as you get flipping 60 cents off!

I don't know how they do it. Their damn bagels are so soft. It puts other bagel places to shame. My favorites are the chocolate chip or jalapeno/cheese bagel with cream cheese toasted.

I never meant for this to happen but I have become a bagel connoisseur. For the last two years I've been ordering bagels from this tasty place and taking them into work. Needless to say I have become a popular man around the office. The bagels are always top quality, fluffy, and never burnt. I have seriously tried all the different bagels and my favorite has to be the Spinach Florentine. They have great panini's and sandwiches to switch it up a bit. If you're craving breakfast, it's hard to beat.

The bagels are decent but the customer service is the WORST!! They are very unprofessional and should be embarrassed of the way they treat their customers. We will NEVER step foot in this place again. I would rather go hungry then step foot in this place.

The bagel and breakfast sandwich we tried were great. The iced tea was sadly brewed improperly and was bitter - both flavors. The service is HORRIBLE!! Snotty kids (except for the money taker - she was cool and I could tell she was a little embarrassed by the other staff). The tables were dirty, crowded.... blech. No reason to leave Corner Bakery for this. Service counts, people. I'm hoping the owner reads reviews or this place might dive before it's time. We won't be back.

Although the "Einstein Brothers" share a name with the genius Albert Einstein, they aren't so smart when it comes to customer service and just ringing up the right orders. I really wanted to give this place 4 stars because of their vast and generally decent selection of bagels, sandwiches, and breakfast foods. I really did. But when Mark S. and I came up to order some food on an early Sunday morning, we found that our cashier just seemed to be angry at the world (or just us). Our order wasn't too complicated. Personally, I wanted a power bagel (toasted), and a vegetable panini with no cheese. It took the cashier a few moments to confirm that I didn't want cheese in my panini, and when the order was completed, I didn't get my power bagel. I figured they'd hand over the bagel when the other orders (included Mark's) were finished. Mark had some discontent with his order as well, and we both found that our cashier was deeply annoyed at what we were ordering, or something. I also asked for two water cups, but didn't receive those right away -- Mark had to ask for two and only received one, then I asked for an extra one myself. Ugh. Then, the orders came. Mark's order was fine, but I noticed I didn't get my power bagel. So, Mark had to get up once more to get our complete order, and the same angry cashier handed Mark the bagel, but without toasting it. Angry myself, I just ate the bagel the way it was. Mark and I noticed that other customers also had their orders mixed up, too. Don't get me wrong, though -- the food was delicious! The power bagel (~$1.50) was great since it didn't have too much sweetness and it had just the right amount of dried fruit and nuts. Definitely a good bagel. I also enjoyed my veggie panini (~$5.75), which tasted decent even without mozarella cheese. And even though the food didn't taste as satisfying as other breakfast places, I think this place is an overall nice spot to get a quick bite before the day starts. I haven't tried their coffee, but maybe one of these days I will. Hopefully by then, the Einstein Brothers will have smartened up.

I admit it: I'm addicted to Lox and Bagels. But where can one get his fix in Irvine? A bagel shop of course! I've always seen this place every time I go grocery shopping, and decided to check it out a week ago. Well, I must say, their Lox and Bagel on chopped garlic is awesome! I've gone about 3 other times to get it since then. I order the lunch version one, which comes with a side. The potato salad is one of the best store bought ones I've tried. P.S. I had to give this place a review, after I tried out the new Breuggers Bagels that opened up on Culver and Irvine Blvd (one word: HORRIBLE).

Went here Sunday morning around 10. Waited in the longest line ever just to order, and the guy taking my order couldn't figure out how to input my coffee as decaf so he told me to let the woman I paid know. So I get to her, and tell her I wanted my iced coffee decaf. She is confused but then figures it out, and then tries to find out who took my order (um, the ONLY person you have taking orders!). She left charged me for a large after I repeatedly told the guy and her I wanted a medium. Eventually she realizes what I'm saying. Then after I pay I have to wait on the side with another crowd of people for probably 15 minutes to get my food. I'm pregnant and couldn't stand anymore so my husband stood to wait for my food. Eventually he comes back and hands me the bagel, which I see is plain when I ordered another kind. So by this time we've already been there for 30 minutes and I have to go to the counter and tell them they gave me the wrong bagel (after struggling to get someone's attention). This girl looks into another bag and hands it to me. Couldn't have just checked the bag in the first place?? Meanwhile I see multiple people still waiting for their food that were ahead of me in line. One woman complained that if they didn't hand her her food she just wanted her money back because it was ridiculous how long she had to wait. Finally I'm on my way, and as I'm taking a sip of my completely watered down, flavorless coffee, I'm also getting ground coffee bits with each sip. Disgusting. The only decent thing was my bagel. This was my first visit to Einstein Bagels and definitely my last.

The best bagels in OC. I am an east coast transplant and grew up on great bagels. Einstein Bros. is among the best. It does get pretty busy in the morning and on the weekends. I usually try to get my bagel fix mid-day on weekdays to avoid the crowd.

Locked in the ever undulating cycle of life far removed from being attuned to one's true self, our spiritual being, we are constantly numb to the awakening that our soul searches to find. The days pass and our lives seemingly take shape yet our quest to answer the question of who we are gets forgotten and overlooked. To ever so slightly break the mold of this downward spiral we find solace in waking up early to start the day here at Einstein. They have a selection worthy for those who have discovered their true inner-being. One's that can see past the other choices of breakfast energy tempting them from every street corner, they will be rewarded to find a new source of revitalizing energy here.

When you can't quite make it out to "go to breakfast" Einstein's does the trick. They can make you whatever kind of sandwich you want...egg, turkey, or just plain cream cheese. It's always good as long as you're there before the selection runs out. Coffee and fresh OJ is good too. Sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Waking up an extra half hour before work just to buy bagels for work didn't sound like a fun task, but these bagels sure brightened up my sleep-deprived morning with their fast service and delicious bagels! The bagels were nice and soft and the cream cheese is yum. The best cream cheese is the honey almond! So good! I got the "Hate to Wait" deal. You get 13 bagels plus 2 cream cheese packages of your choice (you get to choose from a bunch of different flavors in the fridge) for 13.99. Not bad considering I had to buy 4 dozen bagels. YUM!

The best bagel place ever! They have so many kinds of bagels, but if you want to get what you want, go early cause they might run out. But I recommend the chocolate chip, cranberry or asiago cheese bagel..Not to mention that they have the best cream cheese. It's light and fluffy. Too bad it's so far for me or I'd go there everyday

I have been coming here for years. It's a great bagel spot in Irvine to grab breakfast. Sometimes the line can be very long, but I've never had a problem here in 4 years. The service is good, not above average, but good, and they've always been great to me. The bagels always seem to be fresh as well as the coffee where there are about 5 different blends. Downfall, they do not have 'Bailey' bagels. The price is standard for a bagel spot.

This place was really close to the apartments I used to live in, so I came here out of convenience. Service wasn't very good. I had to wait a long time for my order and to even have my order taken. I think they were maybe understaffed at the time. Many of us had to wait in line for a long time. The food isn't that great either...

  • Steve J.

Please boycott this place so someone new can move in! I don't know how these guys stay in business other than they are the only shop around and do have descent bagels... if they still have the kind you want by the time you get to the front of the line. Oh yeah, you can't see the bagels they have because of the line in front and the numb DUDE haves no idea either! (order twice toasted if you want toasted) but then expect a blank snarl from the freshly implanted employee whom haves no idea what is going on because nobody there does. No direction whatsoever! Horrible customer service recovery when need be too, and it is warranted constantly! Overpriced also! Sucks, Sucks, Sucks!

By far my favorite bagel place! The garlic bagel is amazing. I just wish that they were closer to me! The service is always good, I like the line situation where you order then move down the line and pay and your bagel is usually ready by that time. It's just not my favorite when we go kinda later in the morning and most of the baskets are empty. This place is always hoppin, no matter what time!

O.k. I usually order the spinach and cheese bagel but today I had a toasted blueberry with cream cheese. Yummmmmm!!! Their cream cheese is much creamier than any other cream cheese I've ever had. I'm still thinking about it three hours later. I love this place!

  • Robert K.

The bagels are fine, it's the service (for the most part) that leaves a lot to be desired. The entire concept of ordering at one register but paying at another is a little strange. Plus the fact that you generally have 3-5 people behind the counter and only one helping the customers. When someone orders a dozen you're generally waiting for a period of time. You would think they would have another person helping the next customer in line but they don't. You can tell it's very poorly run. Why don't they always have two registers open at all times taking the orders (and money at the same register). If the employees see customers are backing up have someone step up to help them. Plus can they be a little more careful when handing you the bagle in the bag. Most of the time they leave the cream cheese ON THE BAG.

The department of health correction notice at the door wasn't a good sign..The service was SO SLOW and indifferent. After waiting to order at one cash register we had to wait again at another cash register. Who designed this place? I had my credit card out already, take my money give me my sack of 6 to go. shoot! The bagels were mediocre. I had a cinnamon sugar bagel and the yumminess wasn't even baked on, just slapped on the top. Bagelry, I'm sorry I skipped you today. I beg forgiveness.

I love me some carbs and oh how I love bagels. The bagels here are good and fresh -- crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Love the garlic flavored cream cheese. Their cream cheeses are whipped so they spread nicely. The bagel sandwiches are good too. I wish there were more of these around. I much prefer the bagels and cream cheese here to Brueggers.

The best bagels in Irvine. Ok, that's not saying much, but they're pretty darn good. As Michael M., pointed out, their service really sucked in the past, but it's gotten much better. Their bagels are a bit on the small side, but then again, so are bagels in NY. The bagels are slightly crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and they don't skimp on the "toppings"; their poppy seed bagels, for example, are *covered* with poppy seeds, unlike most of the other bagel places around here, and their sun-dried tomato bagels actually have little chunks of tomatoes in them. The sandwiches are really good, especially the spinach, egg, and mushroom (get it with a bagel instead of panini).

After my friends arrived at SNA one morning, I decided to take them for breakfast. I searched for something with a good rating on Yelp which took me to Einstein Bros. I have no idea why people have given it a good rating, but I guess it might have something to do with Irvine not having any breakfast places. Coming to think about it, Costa Mesa has this amazing place called Old Vine. They make really good breakfast!

The best chocolate bagel in the area. I'm always in the hunt for a good chocolate bagel. Nothing beats this place. The place has a great choice of cream cheese flavors and good coffee as well. The only reason I don't give five stars is that during commute time in the morning, it can take 20 minutes to get through the long slow line.

We have this thing called "Bagel Friday" in our department. The bagel boy got our orders from Eistein Bro each friday before coming to work. All I have to say is, we can't live with out the bagel on Fridays. We are like pavlo's dog,on Friday morning, we start to salivate when we arrived work and the first thing to do is rushing into the Finance Office to see if the bagel boy has arrived or not. It's not hard to figure out whether bagel boy is in the office on Friday or not simply just look at the happy meter in the office. If you see people with sad faces, walking with their head down and dragging their feet around the office like there's a heavy weight tight up to their feets vs people running around w/ bagel on their hands and a big satisfy smile on their faces. Hmmm... My usual is jalapeno and cheese which is so called the special, and it cost $2, sometimes I would crave for chocolate chips bagel $1.50. It's pricy @ work but who would cares if someone deliver to work and it always come w/ unlimited cream cheese and friendly smile? You can charge everything to visa card.. but satisfaction after eating Einstein Bro's bagels in D&CS? Priceless.....

I'm not sure how to rate these guys. I want to give them a 4 star because their bagels are really good and freshly made, options are good, and some workers try so hard to make you happy. But there are a couple disgruntled workers it seems like. The communication is terrible when it's busy and almost every time I'm there I see a couple different people. Sunday mornings are the worst because it's so busy, they can barely hear you and you can barely hear them. You have to speak loudly and literally spell things out for them. I pre ordered my bagels and said I'd be there in 20 - 30 min. I got there and had to talk to 4 different people about my bagels. It took them an hour and 15 min to get my bagels with me nagging them. The time before that I had the same problem, only they didn't take my order down and I had to wait 30 after the designated time for the bagels to be finished. They said 15 min, but it was 30. My client finally said she's not going to send me there anymore. They're unreliable time-wise.

Pumpkin season is back! I went to Einstein Bros the other day and figured I would try the pumpkin bagel, sure happy I did :). They have my favorite cream cheese by the name of honey almond, I could eat that stuff all day (however I try not to!). I would definitely recommend this combo because it might just make your day. The bagels are hot and fresh out of the toaster. If you love bagels this might just be the place for you. The employees are nice enough.

I come here on a weekly basis in the morning to meet up with some friends over coffee and bagels and this Einsteins is the perfect place to do that! Plenty of seating makes it a great place to come by yourself, with a friend or two, or with a group. On a nice day, I recommend sitting outside. Not too loud and occasionally there are a couple of ducks that hang out there looking for some bagel crumbs. I pretty much stick to the same script each time I come which is the mushroom and asparagus egg white thin on the everything bagel, toasted. This is one of their healthiest options on the menu so I never feel weighed down or guilty after eating it. I order the thintastic bundle which includes a medium coffee with my sandwich. Their coffee is decent, not great, but it does the job, especially when it is paired with my bagel sandwich. They have a myriad of creative bagels including the Jalapeno cheddar, chocolate chip and other flavors, so if you like trying new bagels, you can do that here. Expect loooong lines if you come on a Saturday or Sunday morning when the place is packed to the max. Much shorter lines on a weekday morning. You can also come her to study if you like, but there are no outlets if you need to plug in your laptop or cell phone which stinks. Still, I've come here a couple times to start my studying session and then if I need a charge, I'll move over to the coffee bean located in the same plaza.

Sadly I have tried to eat there 4 times and only been able to eat there twice. The reason is there is something wrong with the ordering and order fulfillment process. All four time there I went in the morning, 8:00 am. Go figure, bagels in the morning pretty nutty I know but that's the way we roll. Anyway 2 times there have been long lines to order and despite the fact that they have 2 registers only one person working. Customers are standing at the register himming and hawing and constantly leaning out to look at the bagel cabinet look for something to appear (I guess). One customer stood there at least 5 minutes trying to get their order in. Not sure if it is the person at the register or the customer but there is a huge line of people waiting. Either way someone who works there should have tried to help free up the bulging line. Since I am now at 50% success I have decided to stop going there and go the the Corner Bakery in the same center. Hey Einstein, wise up and hire an industrial engineer to fix the badly flawed process.

The bagels at Einstein Bros are delectable, but the cost is too pricy for a bagel sandwich or bagel and cream cheese you are spending about $1.00 to $1.50 more than at other bagel shops. I come by sometimes when I don't have time to make breakfast in the morning on my way to work, but prefer to go to the less pricy bagel shop on the other side of Irvine.

I first tried the Einstein in Long Beach on Bellflower and loved it, so I was excited to see one near my office. The first time I came to this location I was also impressed. I usually stop in when I'm in the mood for some kind of breakfast sandwich, like egg and cheese on a bagel. The very first time I got a sandwich here it was REALLY good, and I stopped going to Panera and Corner Bakery in favor of this place. However, I've been back a handful of times and the quality has been disappointing. Unfortunately, it seems my really good first try was the exception, not the rule. Today, in fact, I had one that was so greasy, and the egg looked and tasted like it had been cooked ahead way earlier. The texture was just off. To top it off the bagel tasted moldy. No visible mold, but you know when bread is turning and you can kind of taste it? Yuck. Not going back anymore. I will give the staff credit for always being friendly and energetic, despite the early hour.

Einstein Bagels is our favorite bagel shop; however, the service at this Irvine location is HORRIBLE not to mention the place is always a mess. On the weekends they are out of our favorite bagel "Spicy Nacho" and coffeee no matter what time of the morning you go. The place always seems disorganized and stressful. They certainly need new management who can make sure they are NOT out of bagels and coffee during peak breakfast hours. Mission Viejo Einstien is a whole lot better! They are always stock with our favorite bagel.

    (1)
  • Marie S.

OK, I have to still give this place 5 stars cause the pumpernickel bagels are the best in SO CAL, and I lived in LA. BUT, can we please have a little more service? 2 registers in the order line, but they only use one in the morning when the place is slammed with people! And how about the long hairs tie up their messy dangly hair, don't think thats OSHA approved.

I like this place! The boy and I came here for a late breakfast today since we wanted something quick and easy before heading over to the movies. At 11:15am on a Sunday, this place was packed with families and young adults; it brought back memories as a kid going to get either donuts or bagels on the weekend with the parents. Anyway, we ordered three toasted bagels with cream cheese and two drinks -- a water and an OJ. The total was $13 and some change; decent enough. The bagels were ready a few minutes after ordering, which was great. My chocolate chip bagel was just right and they put just the right amount of cream cheese on it -- not too much, not too little. I loved it! My OJ was great too, but you can't really go wrong with that. All in all, I really like this place. Since it's so close to my boyfriend's place, I'm going to have to suggest coming here more often on our lazy Sunday morning and afternoons together. Cheers!

It's 8 in the morning and they have 3 people working. 2 of them look like they are still sleeping. The line is wrapped around the entire shop. I don't care how good the bagel tastes the service makes this a horrible experience.

  • Jason N.

I waited 21 minutes to get my bagel order. The three people that ordered in front of me got their money back and left very upset because they waited so long. When my order was finally ready the employee threw it on the counter and called my name; no "I am sorry for the wait" or anything. I paid $8 for a bagel sandwich that was not even close to worth it. The customer service is horrible here. The manager instead of helping make the bagels during the backup just stood by the register doing nothing. I will never visit this location again.

  • Michelle L.

The service here is TERRIBLE. You're going to have to wait in line for a LONG LONG TIME. You're going to have to repeat your order numerous times. You might have to scream your order it gets pretty loud there in the mornings. But if you can get over all those obstacles, you're going to have quite the warm treat. I've only had the bagels here. Bagels with cream cheese. I usually get the bucket because I have siblings and they love fresh bagels. Over the years, my siblings and I've tried every type of bagel they have here and we have never been disappointed with the taste. But I have to say that I'll never actually come here if I didn't have a coupon of some sort so it's a good thing for me that they send out coupons fairly often. 3/5

I placed an order several weeks ago and the polite young lady quoted me a price I explained that I was on a work budget and could not go over a certain amount I was just a few dollars after she have me the price. I ordered specific bagels as I know what my coworkers enjoy eating. I arrived promptly at 8 am. They were not busy as they had been in past visits. I told the manager about my order as she was also the cashier at the time. She overcharged my my quoted price, didn't have the coffee I also ordered ready and was dismissive when I bright the price to her attention. She never apologized that her worker quoted me incorrectly and instead of speaking with he she continued to take orders from other clients and basically ignored me. I let her know I would be calling her main office to complain she didn't even acknowledge me. I promptly called on my way to work and was informed that a district manger would be calling me. It been over two weeks I gave them a bad review on the email provided on the receipt and now am writing to warn others of their poor customer service and to top it off they completely messed up my order by giving me bagels that were not what I requested and as such were not eaten. I will never go back as there are many other places with far superior service and manners and their corporate is a JOKE.....

Very disappointed. I placed an order over the phone for pick up. Come to find when I got back to work to eat, they didn't put turkey on my Turkey, bacon and avocado bagel sandwich. $7 is a pretty expensive sandwich I think...

I used to eat at Einstein regularly.. this location and others (San Diego, Mission Viejo, Lawrence, KS, Kansas City, MO). I'm a huge fan of the Tasty Turkey sandwich. I first got the sandwich back in the early 90's in Overland Park, KS at a Bagel & Bagel before they were purchased by Einstein. Delicious sandwich. Toasted everything bagel, chive cream cheese and alfalfa sprouts served with a pickle spear, chips and a separately purchased IBC Root Beer. I can't tell you how many times this was my meal before work in the evening. It's been a while since I've given Einstein a shot for the sandwich. I saw a coupon for buy-one, get-one and thought I'd pay a visit. Ordered two identical Tasty Turkeys on toasted everything w/ turkey, chive cream cheese and sprouts. Strike one.. they no longer have sprouts... lettuce will have to do. The friendly clerk asked if I would like chips or potato salad, I asked for chips. Went to pay and the supervisor or manager was manning the register. Very friendly and cheery, and actually seemed excited that I had the coupon. I went and stood back away from the counter as I awaited my order. The cook/bagel maker (?) yelled my name and asked if I'd like tomato. Let him know that I just wanted lettuce on the identical sandwich orders. Just a few minutes later and he walked my sandwiches out to me. Good service! I didn't check the order as I was in a rush to get back to the office. I'll take some of the blame for this as I should have taken a moment to check the bag. Upon opening the bag back at my desk I noticed there were no chips and no pickle spears. I opened the sandwiches and found that one was a toasted everything and the other appeared to be an untoasted, kaiser roll looking thing (I haven't eaten it yet). Pros: The bagel and cream cheese were good. The staff were friendly and store clean (this was around 1:12pm or so on a Friday, not super busy). Cons: Incomplete order (no pickle spears, no chips). Incorrect order (wrong second sandwich). Lack of sprouts. Will I go back? I imagine I will, it just won't be anytime soon.

1 star for the bagel I guess... But seriously - is this how to run a business?! I came in here on Sunday morning and ordered a fruit cup, small coffee and toasted everything bagel. The horribly unripe fruit cup was the least of my worries: - 3 out of the 4 coffee dispensers were empty, while the remaining one had what I'd describe as "coffee water". I told them to brew more but the next batch was still watered down. "Darn Good Coffee" my a**. - The water that came out of the soda machine had fruit punch in it - My friend ordered a macchiato that came out literally 20 minutes after it was ordered since they needed to get an employee who knew how to make it. Are you serious?! All employees should be trained in every aspect of the workplace. All in all it was a horrid experience. All the staff looked like burnt out, hungover college students who gave less than a f*** about their job. I know it's just a bagel place but take some pride in what you do. Also, never coming back.

UGH! I can't give this place 5 stars because their service is often rude and confused and disgruntled... but I LOVE the bagels here. Almost every bagel sandwich you get is delicious, with your choice of whatever bagel (lately my fav has been garlic) if you like potato salad, their potato salad here is PERFECT! Ignore the service - get it to go, and you'll be happy :)

I only recently started coming here for breakfast after a coworker began buying bagels every Friday for the office. Einstein's has a great variety of bagels. If they have just come out of the oven, they taste pretty damn good. I love their Darn Good Reduced-Fat Plain Shmear even though I didn't think that I would. The whipped cream cheese texture really goes well with their bagels. The thing that sucks about this place is their organization. Sometimes, there is one person working the order line AND the payment line while three others are walking around doing nothing. New employees who help out customers seem like they don't know what they're doing and were not properly trained. Today, a man in front of me tried to buy a parfait that was sitting in the fridge, but the employee took so long to find it on the register that the man got frustrated and put it back. When the employee tried to urge him to buy it, he yelled out, "I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE!" I felt really bad for the kid, but no one came to help him, which caused more delay in our line. When it was my turn, I asked for a "blueberry bagel by itself...no cream cheese or anything." He proceeded to get a blueberry muffin. After I corrected him, he asked if I wanted my bagel toasted and with cream cheese. On days where the place is not busy, things go very smoothly, but when there's chaos (like on a Friday morning), it does not seem like this place can keep it together very well. Needless to say, the workers there are very nice, but I think some changes in organization and performance should be looked into.

I want to give them 2 stars but the food is always good. So I had them deliver to another company event and they forgot just about everything. They forgot my fruit and had to go back, they forgot all my utensils and plates etc. I can't believe it. Gets so stressful for me when they barely make it on time for a seminar or workshop we hold. I want to order from them again but they keep messing up. I will give you guys one more chance...don't bleep it up again lol or else...I'm going to corner bakery lol

  • David K.

I was excited about trying this place out because it's right down the street from where I live. Unfortunately they are Waaaayyy overpriced. Very unorganized and confused. Customer experience stinks. If you're in the area just go to corner bakery just across the parking lot. Bummer

I give four stars mainly because... well... I love bagels. Though the missing star is for the price to wait time ratio. Sometimes when I'm waiting in line to get bagels for my coworker, I forget I am here and think I am at Sprinkles Cupcakes/Ice Cream. The line is so long no matter what time I come in, these must be the best bagels to ever happen! No... no they aren't. They are GOOD, don't get me wrong. But I rate Western Bagel at 5 stars (in Santa Monica), as well as Western City Bagel (in Redondo Beach) and Big City Bagel on Alton and Jeffrey. This place is good, but for the wait, I was hoping it would be better. They are one of those bagel shops though that become a bagel themed restaurant of sorts, serving sandwiches and things like that. Overall,, please go check it out, I might just be a ridiculous bagel snob, and you may try it and say its the best ever. If so, yay! If not... Big City Bagel. Seriously.

I've been in 3 times now, and have to say I prefer it to bruegger's bagels. The ingredients are oh so fresh, service is super fast and friendly, and it's decently priced! Love the classic lox and bagel w/ salmon and capers. Although...I prefer more tomato, less onions and capers BUT it's still delicious! They also have thin bagels, which are a nice alternative since bagels are seriously a lot of carbs. Got the egg thin bagel, and also the mushroom, spinach and cheese thin bagel. So delicious and doesn't give that heart attack most more egg sandwiches do!

Went in at Saturday around noon. I was third in line but took 15 minutes to get to my turn. The store was not even busy. Most workers were just standing around watching ONE of them taking orders. I ordered: Lox bagel sandwich w/ Six cheese gourmet bagel (+$0.70) No onions Toasted To-go 10 minutes later, I received Food in dine-in tray No capers Garlic sprinkled bagel (Cheap, no extra charge) Untoasted Then the clerk asked me, "no onions and no capers right?" I said, "capers is fine, just no onions" I stood there for another 5 minutes, she finally came back "Oh, I'm sorry, we ran out of capers, here's your order" I was on the way to a meeting so I did not have time to go back and complain. But just as I was eating it, I realized it wasn't even toasted. My first and last time to this place.

  • Meera S.

Without a doubt the bagels are delicious. If you love some extra shmear, Einstein's is the spot for you. Despite the flavorful bagels, their service is lacking. The employees do not give that friendly warm welcome your neighborhood bagelry would give. Also, at times their wait can be a bit long to get your bagel on the go. Although their service is average, Einstein's bagels keep bringing me back!

I made an account just to say how unsatisfied I was when I left this morning. The customer service was the worst I've ever received-or rather lack of. The girl on cashier didn't even know how to count change. I asked for the supervisor or manager on shift when I took a look at my soggy sandwich and the plastic cup they threw my way when I ordered an iced coffee. Coincidentally, they supposedly had no one in charge-"They're all in a meeting right now", they said. I ordered a simple bagel sandwich with egg and bacon. The egg was dripping water, making my bagel soggy and disgusting. Not to mention, when I asked for a refund on my "iced coffee," the cashier refused and made me a new drink instead. When she handed it to me, she advised me to check what I was ordering next time. Next time? There won't be a next time.

The quintessential breakfast spot doing coffee, bagels, which is the go to besides donuts for the predominantly Orange County Corporate confines. I'll often get a dozen for my team and love the service in the morning, but the afternoon seems to be when the newbies work and get trained. Not that it's slower, but it's just not smooth and efficient. Great for relaxing in the morning if you can walk or bike here as the parking lot is a turd. Some of the pricing can be strange when a bagel and shmear is 1/3 the price f the lox bagel, but the lox package is twice the price and could do 3 times the amount they use. Anyhow. With slightly better location they could really dominate

3.5 stars. We were looking for a decent bagel place around the Irvine area and found this place. We walk in and there's nobody at the counter ... red flag? We literally stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting for the guy to come around and take our order, but ANYWAY .. onto the food. We ordered the BLT with avocado and the Deli .. combo thing. (I totally forgot what it was ...). My bagel, even though it was light, was INCREDIBLY tiny as was the other order which was NOT light in calories. Not to mention it took me a good 10 minutes to find a table that was not completely dirty with spills and grease all over. ON the bright side, this place is spacious. Nice bathrooms (always a plus, I must say) and their food was actually pretty good. I'm just a little disappointed at the portions and upkeep of the place. A lot of potential - just super sloppy. But if you don't mind, be my guest. The regular bagels (not the sandwich ones) looked pretty good and MUCH bigger than what we ordered so perhaps go for those. You might have better luck :)

  • Pam T.

I have to say every time I go to this place to grab bagels for work I always leave wondering how some of these people are still employed there. Their service is extremely slow, the cashier was rude...how hard is it to get a dozen bagels to go??? I was there yesterday not only did they get my order wrong twice, but it took them soooo long I was about to leave without them!! Going to find another place. This place is just not worth it!!

This place is full of some of the friendliest employees you'll find. I accidentally got locked out of my GF's place without my cell keys or anything but the clothes on my back. I wandered over to the local strip mall looking for a solution. I found Einsteins bagels next to ATT. I thought I might as wait at the bagel place while waiting for ATT to open so I could FB my GF and get her to open up. While I was enjoying reading the newspaper I was also starving. Smelling all those yummy bagels did me in. I went up and asked for the manager, I got the sweetest girl named Madelin. I told her my situation and asked if I could give her some sort of IOU in exchange for food. Much to my surprise she said she could do that for me. Thank you Madelin for going above and beyond. You made a rough situation totally bearable. I will definitely be a repeat customer thanks to you.

Misleading advertisement The baker special showed Apple Cinnamon Bagel with picture on it where it post $3.99 with the coffee but when you ordered it, it turned out to be $.50 more where even the guy at the cashier had to ask around to figure out why (due to it's a premium bagel). The service was so bad where they didn't even understand their own special. They just keep saying this is all coming from corporate. I am not going back for sure.

I used to live across the street from here, so yeah, I ate a crap-load of bagels. Their sandwiches are not so good. They sound delicious but its very whatever and not worth $5 or whatever they're charging for them now. My favorite bagel is the chocolate chip. Get it toasted with their plain shmear. So simple, yet soooo yummy. Good quality bagels, not the normal crap bagels you get from coffee shops. FYI: Einstein and Noah's Bagels are the same company.

    (4)
  • Julie N.

I've always been a fan of Noah's Bagels and am not embarrassed to admit that I prefer breakfasts here over fancy $12 a plate breakfast restaurants. There's a bagel and smear here for everyone... and a variety of sandwiches for those looking for something more filling. I'm frequently ordering the the nova & lox on their asiago or potato bagels. It's one of their more expensive items, but I find the quality to be very worth it. This location can get busy, but there's plenty of seating (inside and outside) and enough workers to get you your food fairly quickly.

    (5)
  • Faraaz H.

Great Bagels but they never have the favorite spicy nacho available, all the staff will tell you is that its the peoples favorite and they cannot produce enough. Need to work on supply/demand issues

  • Hannah E.

Note to Einstein Bros: A chai latte is NOT the same thing as sugar and cinnamon and milk heated up in the microwave. Gross. Also, why do you put your Santa Fe egg wrap in the microwave with oozy stuff in it so the oozy stuff makes the burrito all soggy and falling apart? Add the oozy stuff later (whatever it is)! Then maybe you could microwave it long enough for the meat inside to warm up. OR (here's a novel idea) scrap the microwave altogether and use a frying pan. There needs to be some re-adjustment of what microwaves can realistically be used for before I would consider going back.

  • Drew L.

Great bagels, awesome schmear, & excellent lox. You need to know more? Overall quality of food is A+! Nicely designed and inviting layout. But be warned if you wait until the mid-afternoon to go there: Dopey, Grumpy, and IHateYou are in charge, making for an unpleasant buying experience. But the excellent edibles make it worth enduring.

    (4)
  • Annie C.

I come here pretty frequently to get bagels, and every time I want to get the lox bagel, but I'm unwilling to shell out ~$7 for it. I had a 20% off coupon so I justified getting it this time. They're quite generous with the salmon and maybe a little too generous with the cream cheese, but that might just be me. Great place to grab food and go; their pizza bagels are pretty good too!

I don't eat bagels very often. Back in my younger days, I used to love them and liked to try the different flavors! It sucks that when you get older, you really have to watch out for calories, carbs, sodium, etc., etc! However, on those rare occasions where: 1. I didn't eat dinner the night before 2. I had to work at 6:30 am 3. I desperately needed something to eat that would tie me over until lunch.... I did make a stop here because I didn't feel like buying a pastry from Starbucks, they were open early, and it was located close to work. The bagels were always fresh and very good! I always thought the bagels were on the lighter side and not as thick compared to other bagel shops. Their cream cheese, which is called "shmear", was awesome as well. Tasted just like regular cream cheese, but with a whipped cream feel to it! Customer service here was never really the best, kind of depended on who was working. Some of the employees were friendly. Some of them liked to ignore customers, make us wait long in line, or didn't even thank us for our business. Hopefully they will improve on that some day. I no longer live in the area, but thanks Einstein Bros for satisfying my tummy in the past!

Mar 17,2012 We went on a Saturday at around 2:00 pm. Ordered two veg-out bagel sandwiches- one with chilli bagel and one with spinach bagel. It was good. Their spreads are awesome!!!! The sandwiches came with a side option of potato salad or bag of chips. We also ordered blackberry lemonade, caramel latte and regular coffee. Maybe if I go in the morning, when the bagels are fresh, I might like them more. I'll try doing that soon.

Never tried their drinks but hands down best bagels around and they have cool cream cheeses that are whipped with unique flavors

My first time trying this location and it is a lot different than the one in HB, its tucked away in the back and is much smaller! So be prepared for a CF! You can't go wrong with Einstein's its a solid bagel, except this location doesn't toast your bagels too good. They were super soggy and didnt taste like it came out the toaster. I will stick to the HB location as it is bigger and the bagels taste better ^_^

    (2)
  • Vanessa H.

Einstein Bros is a solid bagel place. They have been replacing a lot of Noah's Bagels and I'm not sure it's an improvement on Noah's, but I do like them better than Bruegger's. The Asiago Cheese bagel is a perennial favorite of mine, and I love that they use WHIPPED cream cheese instead of regular. Makes for a much lighter bagel-meal. I do notice that that the bagel can be a bit oily (I wonder if that is due to the Asiago Cheese), but on a day with a hangover I really don't mind the little extra grease. Service has always been good for me at this location.

bagels are good, orange juice is fresh, place is clean and neat, parking is ample. it was already busy when we got there early in the morning on a weekend, crazy!!! wish they were near my neighborhood. the lox was yummyyy as was the chocolate chip bagel with cream cheeeese.

The taste of the everything bagel is just off..not sure why but every time I have it I'm like wait this is the place with the weird everything bagels. Nothing to write home about, its a bagel and definitely not an east coast bagel at that.

  • Patrick K.

Soooo good! Loses a star for closing at 4pm, but this place is DAMN delicious! The Asiago Cheese, Green Chile, Six Cheese, & Spinach Florentine are my FAVORITE bagels here. I don't know what it is about their shmear, but it is just so perfect. The amazingly delicious crunch of the toasted bagel with the airy, creamy, cream cheese shmear makes this the best bagel in the world.

Good as expected. The breakfast bagel sandwich was perfect. Better service than the one near me in San Diego. Wifi service could be a little faster.

  • Lauren O.

The bagels are delicious...if you can get them. The last three or four times we have visited here (around 8:30 a.m.) there were virtually no bagels to be purchased. We were told that there was a 30 minute wait for them to come out of the oven. I mentioned the problem of repeatedly not having bagels available and was basically told, "too bad" by the manager. I will not be going there for bagels anymore.

    (1)
  • Alex D.

Well, I understand this specific location of Einstein Bagels had had a great many negative aspects of its food, customer service, etc, HOWEVER I have been very pleased and greatly surprised by the significant increase of its service. For the past few weeks I have stopped for breakfast (every weekend, mind) and have recieved my order right at the pay-point, and I always order the same bacon and egg sandwich; and don't get me wrong, nothing has changed in their food-preparation process. I believe it has to do with the new employees. Yes, they are mostly new from what I've noticed, but they're efficient and friendly as never before! Those of you who have experienced poor quality and service at this location should come back again to discover this great new change. Even the new layout is pretty classy, I might add. I must say, good show! Keep up the terrific work Einsteins!

  • Erin H.

I love the bagels and cream cheese here but I must warn you to stay away from the breakfast sandwiches. The sandwiches are tasteless and artificial tasting because of the nasty egg they put in it. I would stick with the bagels- many different options and get it with one of their interesting and tasty cream cheeses. This place can get crowded as well so just plan accordingly if you're in a morning rush.

  • Tony U.

Very good bagels and friendly, laid back staff. Although the coffee is in various thermoses, the quality is very good and most importantly, the coffee is hot and wakes you up. Wait on Saturdays at around 10:30am is 15 minutes, but worth it.

Finally visited my local store since I sampled some bagels a few months ago in Oceanside and became a fan. Got the dozen deal, which also comes with 2 smears. Staff was really friendly and helpful. I was having a hard time choosing which cream cheese/smear and they let me sample the pumpkin (I love all things yummy that are pumpkin) and it was good. Loved it with my cranberry bagel, perfect combo to get me into autumn. Seems like there are regulars since they seem to know the staff by name and everyone in general seems to be happy both customers and staff and that's a good sign. Also got the turkey sausage, cheddar egg sandwich, which was good but it needed ketchup, which I added later.

I love this chain. I really do love the food. Can't stand this particular location, totally agree with Lacy C's review. Sure, it's newly remodeled. But it is also totally understaffed, and staffed by kids who do not care. This place is a hot mess. Why do you order at one place and pay at another? The operations make no sense. My to go order is literally always wrong in some way or another, and it's just inexcusable after a while. I once ordered a sandwich no tomato no mayo, and got the complete opposite with cream cheese, tomato AND mayo. Cmon now. I hate to stop coming here, but please get a better staff in place!

  • KAREN B.

Good place to drop by for bagels and coffee. Sometimes it takes a long time to get our order, but the selection and prices are pretty good (except the doggie bagels are over-priced). My fave is their new thin bagel sandwich with egg whites and veggies, minus the cream sauce.

We were super excited to try out these bagels. But oh my goodness....the food and service is bad! First off the ordering and paying process is super confusing, maybe because the workers just rolled out of bed? Then when your food is ready they softly (like a whisper) say your name and walk away. We had a turkey sausage bagel sandwich...yuck! So we tossed those and ordered a blueberry bagel...figured keep it nice and simple....bad idea! These bagels are just not good! And to top it off...It felt like an oven in that place. We were eating gross bagels and sweating. Just NO! Starbucks is in the same center...and their bagels are way better!

Great bagel joint in Irvine. I believe they have a bucket of bagels for $13. 12 bagels and 2 choices of cream cheese. It's a pretty good deal to buy for co-workers or a group of friends. My favorite by far is their Lox Sandwich! A little pricey but I love my smoked salmon.

The ONLY reason why a person should come here is because they enjoy wrong orders and dealing with disrespectful attitudes from a merchant you are about to hand money to.. I complained to the manager after a server was extremely rude to me and she stated she "couldn't understand my complaint" if you didn't understand my complaint your an idiot and need a new job.. I train customer satisfaction and I hate to see a blatant disrespect to customers who ultimately keep you employed.. think twice before you talk to a customer. DONT GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!

  • Alvin T.

I really wanted to like this bagel store. I used to go to the East Coast Bagels in the Heritage Plaza shopping center on Culver/Walnut before I moved to this side of Irvine. Theres three problems. First, the menu is way too big. Focus on the basics and perfect them. Second, streamline your operations. Why do you order at one cash register, move down 5 steps only to pay at another cash register? Third, hire people that actually care. The quality control at this shop is terrible. I'll walk across the parking lot to the Ralphs and get bagels there.

This used to be my favorite bagel spot when I lived in FL. Unfortunately, they don't have many locations in So. Cal, but since I was in Irvine, I had to stop by to meet my pal, Albert Einstein and discuss the theory of general relativity over a cup of coffee and bagels. I usually get an Everything bagel with hummus spread (not really into cream cheese) The bagels taste exactly the same as what I got in FL..fresh and good. What's different here is the hummus spread they use-it reminded me more of a vegetable dish with chic peas and tomatoes (kinda like the Indian pav bhaji dish) rather than the traditional hummus that you get at their FL locations or any Mediterranean restaurant for that matter. Either way, it tasted good and the combination of a warm toasted bagel with cold vegetable hummus spread works well. Service is good..parking was hard to get..most spots around are for compact cars, so watch out for door dings.

Why can't these people get it right? I asked three times not to toast my bagel....one pretzel bagel left and they freakin toast it! Yes, they refunded my money, but I also noticed they over charged me in the first place! Really? I love Einstein's, this one needs a make over!!!

Their bagels are delicious. There are many different flavors. They send out coupons in the mail and those always have really good deals. The coffee is pretty good also. It can get crowded in the mornings, especially on the weekends.

The people are really nice, but not good at this whole food service thing. I ordered a toasted bagel with cream cheese, and a small chai tea. My bagel came out not toasted (it was still cold), and when I asked them to toast it they were really nice about it but then I got a really burnt bagel the second time. I didn't end up eating it. Also they made me a coffee instead of chai. When they called out the latte and I didn't come up to take it, they asked me what my order was. Once seeing the mistake they made me the chai, and gave me a large instead of small. They were trying to be nice to make up for it, but I really didn't want a larger drink, just the right drink. They also told me to keep the coffee for free. Again this was very nice of them, but I didn't want it either, and I already had to take my (too)large chai with me.

Very very disappointed. I came here Sunday morning for a bagel sandwich and waited an HOUR if not more to get it after i ordered it. I'm guessing they were understaffed. But seriously, an hour for an egg sandwich? Fail. The only perk that i like about them is that they offer an "alternative" line for those that are more health conscious. Even so, i'd think that they'd some salt to their egg sandwiches. Super bland. Would not come back unless i have a maaaaaaaaajor craving for bagels.

I had never tried Einstein Bagels before but kept hearing great things about it. I moved to an area in which one was close. Before I came here, I was accustomed to the amazing Everything Bagel at Panera's, but heard this one was better. It was around 2:00pm on 4/20 and I decided to stop by. I was the only customer - completely empty. The person who helped me was really pleasant. At first she was the only person I noticed. Then while she was ringing me up, I saw another person come out to finish toasting and finishing my bagel. Suddenly the manager came from behind me (there must have been an employee entrance in the lobby as well as from behind the cashier). She began yelling at the employees about the cleanliness of the drink station. She said, "That was supposed to be done an hour ago!" and then stormed off to the back. Imagine a person yelling. I was shocked. The poor employees looked like they were about to cry. I couldn't believe my feelings as a customer didn't matter at all to this manager and I also couldn't believe how horrible she would treat her staff. I did write a complaint to the Einstein Bros Bagels website, but felt I needed to do more by writing this review. This manager was a little tall (around 5"7"), either blonde or light brown hair pulled back in a pony tail and was medium build. She looked like she was around 45 - 50. Since this is a food establishment I should remark on the bagel. It was O.K. I like the plain cream cheese spread, but I still love the Everything Bagel at Panera's much better. All in all, the manager made the experience less desirable and I will not go back.

I didn't want to eat Mexican food so I stopped at Einstein Bros Bagels originally for a sandwich. When I got there I stared at the menu and decided on a pizza bagel. Mmm! A spinach and mushroom pizza bagel to be exact. I am not the bagel enthusiast but I must say there is something that draws me to eating them. CREAM CHEESE! Mmm! As I bite into my pizza bagel I notice this familiar taste of heaven under the mozzarella. Yes! Cream cheese. Anyways, this totally satisfied my hunger. The price was reasonable and the service was really quick. I dig it.

I love einstein bro's coffee! The bottomless cups are perfect for a crazy day at work like this one. The only drawback this location has is that there are no or minimal electric outlets! I need to plug in my computer!

After a long, long hiatus (probably 4-5 years) from buying bagels on a regular basis, I suddenly had a craving for it last week. It just so happened that we received a coupon for $4 off a bucket of bagels (with two cream cheese; $13.99, 9.00 after discount) from Einstein's. I had forgotten how good pure, refined carb can taste with some sweetened cream cheese. I'd highly recommend the raspberry... hmmm so good. Einstein's bagels are lighter and are soooo much better than the super market made one from Ralphs or TJ's. The store is crowed in the AM so I'd avoid the breakfast rush and get them in the PM.

Yes, I am a fan BUT I haven't been back in a long ass time cause bagels are too many damn calories AND they seemed to always mess up my damn order. Like, I want cream cheese on the SIDE. It was always either on it OR nonexistant. BOO! Their bagels are friggin delicious. Period.

While paying for some bagels, I could not resist Einstein Brother's Mudslide and Chocolate Chunk cookies. The Mudslide cookie was crispy. Some parts were too hard, but the center was brownie-like. The flavor was great, but the texture took away from it. The Chocolate Chunk cookie was too buttery. Its wonderfully chewy texture was a stark contrast to the horrible texture of the Mudslide. The extra chocolate chunks was an added bonus. Each average-sized cookie is $1.35. Oatmeal raisin and iced sugar cookies are also available. Visit cookiesleuth.com for more recipes and reviews!

I have had Einstein Bros. Bagels before at several of their other locations, and have always liked them... They are fresh and warm, and the coffee is good (not great, but good). A reasonable value for the price. My difficulty lies with THIS particular store... My friend and I went in, waited the ridiculously long line, got to the front, only to be told that they had had a water main break, and were unable to brew fresh coffee. I took the iced coffee (which I suspect had been brewed the day before and refrigerated overnight) and thought, "Well, stuff happens..." By the time I had reached the cash register, not ten feet away, they had used the broken main excuse to substitute literally every item we had ordered with something that was almost, but not quite exactly, NOT what we wanted. I asked to speak to a manager, who proceeded to tell me that I was being unreasonable, as they'd had a water main break... YES -- WE HEARD -- ENDLESSLY... So what??? Fukushima melted down... I can still get sushi -- you had plumbing problem, and milked it for all it was worth, and then some... You only get to use an excuse up to a point... At the moment that it starts interfering with your business (and your employees' ability to wash their hands before handling my food, for God's sake), it is on you to close up shop for the day and get the problem fixed. We took what they had decided was our order (it bore absolutely no resemblance to what we had actually ordered) and sat on the patio to eat. I was stunned to see the guy from Roto-Rooter walking back and forth THROUGH the patio dining area carrying dirty pieces of PVC and paying no regard to the people who were eating there. Management didn't seem to see that as a problem either... In case you're thinking, at this point, that I am just being oversensitive, a couple at the next table started asking around for the loan of a "smart phone" so that they could call and report them to the County Board of Health. I will not eat at this particular Einstein Bros. again, and I will not recommend it to anyone else, either. I would sooner chew off my own face than put someone, who trusts my judgement, in the path of these bagel barbarians.

Like everyone here I agree that their service is not all that great. They need to really have more people working to take care of the big crowds during the morning. never order a special coffee because it will take forever to get it. I love their bagels though and their coffee dont get me wrong but they need to really work on this whole waiting in line for hours for a freaking bagel is not cutting it for lots of people.

For some reason, on a Saturday morning this is like THE place to BE!! hahaha Line is always long but it's kind of funny and interesting to people watch in line and analyze all of the folks who come here. Some in their PJ's, some with their iPad's to read the news like it's a breakfast lounge when there is obviously not enough room for you to stay a while. But....like it or not I keep on coming back! Love this time of year with the pumpkin bagels they have. So different and tasty! Thing is, you must come early as they run out of bagels pronto and they don't always make a new batch right away.

The bagels as always are fantastic. This particular location on Sundays seems to be very busy. However, the outdoor seating and quiet environment is pleasant when enjoying your Lox n bagel. Fairly loud inside though

FOOD (Grade: C+): A Bagel Fit - that is what my son and his friend said they had - and they decided to take me with them. Einstein's is OK. It is constantly busy selling bagels, bagel sandwiches, coffee cakes and coffee. We all had bagels, of course, some with cream cheese, and mine without. Each of us gave it an OK rating. SERVICE (Grade: B): You come into the place and get in line. While in line, decide what you want, and then order it and pay for it. Pick it up at the end of the line, go get your own coffee and sit down or do take out. Kind of a fast food type 'Order and Eat' place. PRICE (Grade: B): The prices were reasonable. PARKING: This is a corner mall type place with LOTS of parking. VERDICT: I WILL ONLY RETURN IF MY SON WANTS TO GO AGAIN.

It opens earlier than most bagel places in the area. Their nacho cheese bagel was delicious; however, their "Darn Good" Orange Juice was of poor quality. The orange juice was watered down and lacked any sort of taste, definitely not worth the money for that.

How many ways are there to screw up a bagel and coffee? This Einstein Bros location figured out THREE: - My order was for a toasted bagel with shmear and tomatoes; it came out untoasted with no tomatoes (2) - self-serve coffee was weak and had residual flavored coffee crap taste in a non-flavored carafe Irvine suburbanites must not have very high expectations, because there were throngs of them here on a Saturday morning.

Good bagels, pricey for what they are (but seek out their coupons, then it becomes a very fair deal). Not a typical bagel, very soft, fluffy insides and not the firmest outside with a corn-type dusting on the bottom. Wifey loves it, I accept it. Good shmears/cream cheeses (whatever term is the "in" thing now). Atmosphere is OK, decent seating outside. Feels like a Starbucks...

My favorite bagels in Orange County! But only 2 stars you ask? Well I would say about 20% of the time is when you get them right. Most of the times they are burned or they put a very uneven amount of cream cheese on them, or they are cold AFTER being toasted. This location is poorly run, it takes much longer then it should. Nobody seems to care when you have problems. The Huntington Beach location is the opposite, you get great bagels with great shmear as they say at what i would estimate an 85% clip.

Holy crap, this place is a cluster! Seriously, is it managed by monkeys? Line out the door, slow moving employees, only one door open, so the people in line (incl myself) kept getting shoved around so customers and employees could get in/out or get napkins/lids. One employee was taking orders from those of us in line to try to help move things along, but he was moving like a slug. I was in line for 10-15 minutes and didn't move an inch. I walked out and am never coming back to this location!

We went here for breakfast this Sunday morning with my daughter. Mixed review. We arrived before 10 am just in front of the crowd. Not certain why, but it appears a wide difference in attention to quality from sandwich to sandwich. The cheese and bacon bagel was not received well. One small slice of undercooked bacon and a dollop of mayo in the center. All other sandwiches were cut in half except this one. For a man I don't think this is a big deal but women tend to want things just right! These are good, flavorful offerings.

Oh. My. Goodness. The bagels are absolutely delishious and fresh here (my favorite's the cranberry). But the reason for the five stars today is because the worker helping me get my half dozen bagels (which came out to be $4.69 with my 25% coupon; originally it was $6.25, and that's without shmear) gave me a free bagel on the house. Yay for nice people (:

I have a love for bagels that rival my affinity for chocolate. When I use to work in Irvine, I'd visit this location more often than I should. I would even come here for a bagel to replace my lunch. They have a good selection of bagels and awesome whipped spreads. Einstein Bros Bagels are better than any bagels you will get at your local market, probably won't get the crown for king of all king bagels but definitely a decent solid place. Most of their flavors I don't care for...I usually get plain, sesame seed, or chocolate chip. Those 3 I can vouch for. I cannot do comparisons with Noahs (never tried). Yes I know, I need to try it. Its on my "to do list" along with a couple bagel places in the Bay area (Katz & House of Bagels).

LOVE LOVE LOVE their bagels. Always delicious and fresh! Their honey almond shmear is a nice alternative to my usual plain cream cheese. It can get pretty bustling on the weekends so get there early or you'll have to wait awhile for a fresh batch if you like the more popular bagels like blueberry, honey whole wheat, etc.

Please do yourself a favor and not go there! Unless you are willing to stand in line forever to get an oily food with a bulky bagel! Breakfast is my favorite food and living across the street form this place, I wish this was a place I could go everyday to enjoy. Maybe I am rating it against breakfast places in NY or SF or Paris?... dunno I have tried almost everything in their menu and would not even suggest going there for a hot chocolate.... YUCK!

I came here this morning for breakfast before school. I got the asiago cheese bagel with plain smear and a egg, spinach, and bacon panini. It took them a while to get things done.. Like paying, taking to order, and making the food. Maybe they're just as tired as I am. But anyway, asiago cheese bagel is a must get. If your a cheese lover like me, you would love this. The panini was really delicious too and the taste of the cheese with the bacon and tomato smear is a great combo!

The bagels at Einstein's are more on the soft and fluffy side, which some people like, but it's not my preference. If I had to choose, I prefer the bagels at Bruegger's. However, one thing I like at Einstein's is that they have honey butter. It's not overly sweet and goes well with bagels like whole wheat. This place was crazy, understandably so, when we went recently with our free bagel and shmear coupons which we found on both cheapirvine.com and slickdeals.net . They were sold out of almost everything. But free is free, so I went with the pumpernickel. It wasn't half bad.

The food is good but this place is a trainwreck. Unless you're ordering a plain bagel that they can just throw in a bag, expect them to get your order wrong. I live down the street and have tried going here for breakfast several times and they have not ONCE gotten my order right. I gave up and go to Bruegger's on MacArthur now. Not worth the headache!

After having had bagels infinitely superior, I can honestly say these bagels are pretty tasteless. To anyone who thinks Einstein is actually good do yourself a favor and try real bagel elsewhere. The dough tasted and had the consistency of chewing gum. I had one this morning and it was not good at all, not to mention that even though I had it toasted it was barely even warm. Won't be returning here.

I am not a bagel lover, but coming here has made me crave their warm, fluffy bagels! I live right around the corner from here and passed by this place every time I go grocery shopping and I never tried it because of bad experiences with cold, hard, dry bagels that I would get at the grocery stores. One day, I was running late and needed a filling breakfast to get my through the day, so bf and I stopped by here... and I was blown away at how yummy their bagels are! My first experience is with a chocolate chip bagel with honey butter. This is the bagel combination for chocolate lovers! Just the right balance of chocolate and all the love from the honey butter. And my second experience is while I am writing this review. I stopped by to fulfill my cravings and got a honey whole wheat bagel with strawberry shmear - there is nothing I like more than strawberry cream cheese, and now I found the perfect combination! This place is like the donut shop of bagels - they have everything you need for an inexpensive price (I usually get two bagels with toppings for less than $5), except bagels are much more healthier and filling for you!

It's a "tradition" at my work place that has been going on for years that someone brings in bagels every Friday. About half of the time one of my co-workers brings in bagels from Einsteins. They are great when they are still warm and you can just eat it without toasting or adding any cream cheese. My co-worker normally gets the cheese topped verity that no one seems to complain about... even if die hard connoisseur of bagels might scoff at the idea of American cheese topped bagels. Compared to other places the bagels they serve here seem to be more "compact" in size. Although I am creating a circle with my hands right now to represent how big it is I momentarily forgot that you cannot see me sitting here in my PJ's and throwing up gangsta signs.

I love einsteins. I try to go there as much as possible after my 8am to grab a bite to eat. I've tried their paninis an bagel sandwiches and I can't stop ordering them!! Their sandwiches feel very wholesome (unlike mcdonalds). It feels like quality ingredients are being used. The food comes out nice and warm :] I've only tried their tomato basil schmere but it's making me want to try more!! Onion and chives?! YUM! The schmeres are very light and flavorful. You can order it on a toasted bagel (Asiago..cuz its my fav!) or you can even buy a small container of it and take it home. Did I mention they have a plethora of flavors??? Talking about einsteins makes me wanna go..I think I will :D

YYUUUUMMMMMMYYYY. This place is my fave stop after morning classes to refuel. First of all it smells good just walking in there, and they have SO MANY bagels to choose from. The best one hands down is the SPICY NACHO. That thing is smothered in cheddar cheese and has jalapenos on top as well. SO TASTY. I actually like this one not toasted, since toasting the cheese for some reason makes it fall off when you eat it. Go figure. They give you a geneous amount of cream cheese, and it's just so delicious. The people working there are pretty meh. Usually acting like they have so many more important things than serving you, but hey, they're prob students too. CHECK OUT: They usually have great coupons in the mail for free bagels and such. If taking some to go MAKE SURE you get the smoked salmon cream cheese. I swear I was eating it by the spoonful...yes gross...but just goes to show how yum it is.

Ooooh my. There is nothing BETTER than a treat before work in my tiny ice box that I share with 2 of my co-workers. Spinach Florentine bagel with Sun Dried Tomato cream cheese shmear! Oh yum yum yum, I get it toasted and they REALLY load the bagel with that shmear, which I have NO complaint about! The bagel is a bit crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, and after getting it toasted, it's perfect :) I've also checked in early on a Saturday morning and, it's poppin'!! I've thought about trying their hot coffee and other bagel flavors and cream cheese shmears, which I shall sometime soon and update about that!

As I am already a fan of the Einstein Bros Bagels at the UCI campus, I knew that this location could do me no wrong, especially since it offered a spacious, clean, WARM and DRY shelter after being blown in by the most epic typhoon ever experienced in my 3 and some years here in Irvine. Surprisingly, my Everything Bagel with Salmon Shmear retained a pillowy softness and chewiness despite my double-toasted request. They are very generous with their shmear as well, except the shmear at this location was a little runnier than the one at the UCI location. Got to sample the Double Chocolate Poppers and they were...interesting. Chewy. Interesting. The coffee selection is substantial, they don't dick around with the classics. You have regular, decaf, vanilla hazelnut, and French Roast. Got that? All in all, great place to get a quick carb fix.

  • Julie O.

I usually get the chocolate chip bagel, and it is very good! On the flip side, there is a older caucasion woman who works the cash register, Kathy. She is so rude. She is always in a hurry and never gets my order right. On top of that she did not wear gloves while handling others bagels. Then accused me of not paying for cream cheese when I had a toasted bagel. I will not be coming back.

  • Reid R.

Let me start by saying that the food here is good. It is of the same quality of any other Einstein Bros around. So why the 2 stars? The service is terrible. The employees are not friendly and just generally seem unhappy at all times. On top of that they are consistently out of a lot of their varieties of bagels when I go leaving fewer options than anticipated. At the end of the day I don't think I will be going there as often anymore. There is a Corner Bakery in the same parking lot that I enjoy. If service means anything to you then be warned!

Shirley's Bagels in Newport Beach beats this place by far, but it's a little out of the way unless I'm at work. They get points for: -Fresh bagels -Lots of variety for bagels, cream cheese, sandwiches, and plenty of beverage options Points off for: - Speed. They seriously need to rework their system because I've had a couple of times where 35 minutes elapsed between the time I parked and the when I actually received the goods. You either have to call ahead or go during non peak. - Salmon cream cheese is weak! Tasted like canned fish. This is where I say get your ass over to Shirley's Bagels if you have a major craving for bits of lox, but don't want to spend the extra bucks buying the lox sandwich.

  • Nancy G.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place! I used to live right across the street but didn't actually try it until after I moved. I wish I had tried it earlier cause it's soooo yummy and perfect for a quick lunch. I usually get a bagel with cream cheese and lox which also comes with red onion and capers. It's big enough for a meal but not so heavy that you feel gross afterwards. I've tried quite a few of their cream cheese (or schmears as they call it) and they're all really good. My favorite is the garden vegetable, the salmon and the onion ones. There are lots of choices in bagel flavor and in schmear flavor so start mixing and matching to find the ones you like! The bagels do stay well if you buy them in bulk, although they do dry out a little in the fridge unless you put them in something more air tight, then they're fine. I usually come here for a late lunch to avoid the crowd and the service is generally friendly and quick. Btw, they're reallyyyyy generous with the schmear when they put it on, so if you're watching calories or something, ask them to put less and they will.

Me likey bagels! PLUS PLUS PLUS: Their flavored spreads don't taste like crap. I dare you to find a bagel place with a decent strawberry spread around. There isn't - they all taste like CRAP except for Einsteins.

  • Teresa G.

Had the lox sammich, hold the onion. Yum oh yum. I've only had very few bagels and lox, but this was by far, the best! The bagel was soft ... touch if capers, sliced tomatoes and of course the main event salmon and cream cheese. Grabbed some bagels to go for the kiddos, in which they enjoyed also. Service was QUICK and courteous. I'm sure I'll find myself here again soon.

I love bagels from Einsteins :) If I'm craving some in the morning, I'll order a variety of their bagels and just split with other people so I can get a few flavors in. I usually order plain, chocolate chip, blueberry, and cranberry with either the plain spread or the strawberry spread. Their bagels are light and soft, not all dense like store-bought or other stores'. They make their own spreads and they're always light and fluffy (spreading them on other bagels makes them better). If I'm going at lunch, I always order their Asiago bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese and melted cheese on top. They toast the bagel so that it's nice and warm and it makes a great small lunch. I've also tried their pepperoni pizza bagel which is also good but it's more standard and I can find decent ones at other places. Overall, my favorite bagels hands-down.

My New York-ian friend (see previous review) was literally begging me to drive her back here one day at work. She was craving these bagels, big time (and so was I, so naturally I acquiesced to her request). I ended up going for a bagel sandwich on the asiago bagel, it was mighty tasty! I prefer the bagels in their pure form with a cream cheese topping, but the sandwich definitely hit the spot! YUM!

AMAZINGGG!!! LOVE THIS PLACE!!! i've been late for work because i was getting bagels from this place. they are so soft and the cream cheese is delicious, soft whipped creamy cheese goodness. i have recently fell in love with their sesame bagel with salmon cream cheese!! sooo good...toasted might i add. the boyfriend loves their onion bagel with regular cream cheese, but i think that its alright, i would prefer the regular bagel with onion and chive cream cheese. the boyfriend definitely made a mistake in taking their recommendation of getting a double chocolate chip bagel with strawberry cream cheese when he was trying to surprise me. it was an interesting combo, tasty, but probably not something i would get again. the service is usually good. the line can ocsionally get long, but definitley worth the wait of the toasty bagel for breakfast, lunch or dinner. ps. oj's not bad either kinda pricey along with their cream cheese that cost as much as their bagel.

BEST BAGELS I HAVE EVER HAD! The bagels here are amazing, they have great flavors and unique sandwhiches. I dont think i have ever had a softer bagel. Their spreads are really smooth. This place is really popular so the lines are crowded, but definitely well worth the wait. Favorite Bagel: POTATO Bagel

This place has great bagels! I stopped by to grab a half dozen- onions, honey wheat, and plain. All were good. The onion one was my favvvorrite though... Delicious!!! They're good because they're kinda crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside... the whipped cream cheese sold here is good too. I finally found a place to satisfy my bagel and cream cheese cravings! YAY! Note to self: must try the breakfast bagels sometime.. :D

Great bagels! Always fresh and tasty. Never stale and bland. They have a great selection of bagels and cream cheeses. I've tried their bagel sandwiches for lunch and they're also very good. If I could, I'd eat here more often but then all those carbs would go straight to my butt. Unfortunately, I'm not blessed with a fast metabolism so every bite equals a mile at the gym for me. I used to go to Breuggers bagels since it was close to where I used to live but after tasting Einstein's bagels... I don't even know why I ate that crap! I guess I never knew a bagel could taste this good like it does at Einsteins. Well now I know and I can't go anywhere else to get my bagel fix.

Who knew bagels were such a hip cool thing? Apparently carbs packed into a cute little O shaped food item is quite popular. I've had all sorts of Einstein Bagels for awhile now. Did you know Einstein and Noah's are owned by the same company? Hmm.... There are tons of flavors to choose from. They even have these crazy bagel twists these days too. If you don't go early enough in the morning you definitely won't get any of the popular bagel flavors (Blueberry, everything, etc.) I was really upset at how they charge $1.50 for a little container of schmear. You're kidding me right? The bagel sandwiches here are wayyy to expensive too. Let's have some consistency in the prices!!!!

Bagels are really good and well-cooked. They even have extra food for breakfast and lunch, which is real good as well. Drinks there are pretty good. :) Problem is the staffs and the manager. They may be friendly when they talk but when they give you "the looks," it's not a very pleasant look. Sometimes it would make you irritated.

i first tried a chocolate bagel after my pastor from my church in irvine bought some bagels. CHOCOLATE bagels?! I've never heard of chocolate bagels before! So i had to try it, and they were delicious. that was ages ago. now, my family goes to buy a box every sunday after church best best best bagels ever! they are so soft and deliciously good. I love blueberry bagels, and so I always get the 13 bagels in a box with 2 of their "not" cream cheese spread, was it .. shmear? anyway, i call it cream cheese. decent price for the 13 bagels to go. best eaten quickly because it's the best when it's soft.

Hands down, the best bagels in town. Be forewarned, all the other bagels will forever taste yeasty and rubbery. The staff are friendly enough, but the owner is a cranky old soul. You'll do just fine if you see this as a delicious deli in NYC. Poor service, great bagels. Oh, their french vanilla coffee is heaven too.

I really love the bagels here. I worked at a bagel shop in high school and I probably would have been fired if was as rude as most of the employees here. Also the coffee should be called coffee water, because the three different occasions I have bought coffee here, I regretted doing so. Great bagels and bagel sandwiches, horrible coffee and even worse customer service!

Who knew there was a little bagel store tucked in this plaza? I remembered a while back when I was in school and craving bagels. I'd always have to get my fix at Panera Bread because I didn't know of any other convenient locations in Irvine with bagels. You may think that bagels are like donuts -- practically the same anywhere you go. But, you may be surprised to know that the bagels here are much better. I'd have to declare that it was even better than the Panera Bread bagels. There's something about the dough...the way how it maintains its softness after it runs through the toaster. With the addition of a schmear, the bagel comes out to a little over $2 (I think that's pricey). I like how they don't slather the bagel with cream cheese. Some stores put in way too much.

One of the best bagel spots in town. I go out of my way to come here when I'm in the mood for a bagel because they really are beter than the rest. I also like that they have figured out that bagels are calorie bombs and people are trying to be health conscious so now they have bagel thin options. They also have a great list of reduced fat spreads to choose from. If you're not going to be in close proximity to anyone then the garlic is outstanding. The honey is a good choice if you want something on the sweet side. Good selection of tea and coffee too.

Best Bagels every! Everytime I'm in Irvine, or Palm Springs, or San Diego, I always have to stop by Einstein Bagels and get there Bakers Dozen. #1 Asiago Bagel with Spinach (Amazing!) my husband can eat 5 just siting in the car driving away, so we always make sure we have half a dozen of the Asiago Bagel, and whatever else is left that we can order. Usually if you go there by 1pm most of the delicious bagels are already taken. I also love there Egg and Spinach Panini with a pickle, soooo good! I always order this. (Just thinking about Einstein is making me drool) There coffee frap. are amazing way better than Starbucks. They also make there own cream cheese, but I think there bagels are soo soft and full of flavor that you don't even need the spread. This Bagel gets pretty busy so get there early so you can pick the best bagels and find a seat to sit.

Today we came here just for a drink. I am always craving for the coffee. They have special coffee, strawberry latte, this is my first time seeing this drink. I ordered it immediately. It is very good also with wipe cream and chocolate syrup. I like it very much. Another drink we get is OJ. A little disappoint since we think it should be fresh squeezed. The store's atmosphere is good. It's crowded of people in the afternoon of sunday. Good place to afternoon tea time as well.

Hands down, the best damn bagels in the Vine! Hearty bagels with an outer crust that has just the right amount of bite, but with a soft and chewy middle...just like they make 'em back East. Go early, otherwise, it gets annoyingly crowded and they start running out of bagels... They've got some off the wall bagels, but I'm an old school bagel fanatic...so it's just a plain bagel with a schmear of cream cheese...it's like a rodeo in your mouth. God bless the inventor of the almighty bagel!!!! Plus, they've got decent coffee... And unlike Brueggers, I've yet to get a stale bagel from Einsteins.

In terms of bagel places, Einsteins bagels is one of the two best places around. They share the honors with Noah's bagels in my book. The outside has the perfect texture and is so good toasted, since it goes perfectly with soft and perfectly chewy inside. They have been mixing it up with some good healthy breakfast alternatives like the turkey sausage breakfast bagel and the asparagus, mushroom, swiss bagel thin sandwich. After you have tried Einstein's, you won't be able to eat the other bagel store bagels. My two favorites are the spinach florentine and the everything bagel! Oh yeah... Their shmears are ridiculously good too! I think the garden veggie on a savory bagel or the honey almond on almost any bagel are true stars!

Every sunday morning, while I still lived in Orlando, we went to einstein for breakfast. This location is the first experience I've had in California and it didn't leave the best impression. I don't know if the menu varies by region, but the variation of bagels and sandwiches were just more limited than what i'm used to. I was really bummed to see the three favourite things I like to get not be available. I was really craving orange juice and it wasn't very good. Plus for my very blah meal, I still paid a good amount of money. I don't think i'll want to come here again but I might go to another location in the area to see if it is more of the same.

Some of the best bagels and coffee around. All of the new faces are slow, and somewhat unfriendly though. The bagels and coffee are still good when they manage to still have them...bring back the old Einstein's! Since this makeover, I've been less than pleased with the place. And I come here a lot... Not to mention that I followed 2 people in today near closing time and they served them directly in front of me and turned me away. Not the way to treat a regular. I just wanted a soda on top of it all and they still said no. Poor service can really ruin even the best places. I suggest customer service training classes.

Had just dropped my friend off at SNA and was craving breakfast....at 11:30am on a Saturday. Other than Jack In the Box, I didn't know any quick meals still serving brekkie. However, I did remember Einstein on the way home. They serve breakfast food all day! I ended up with their turkey sausage and cheddar sandwich on a sun dried tomato bagel. As others mentioned, the bread is chewy soft. It made my morning. On the "I have to complain about SOMEthing" department, the last time I stopped by here (looking for a gift card), they didn't have a list of other EBB locations. Was told to look it up online, which bugged me. This time, I realized the entire menu is up on the board. Other than say McDonalds/KFC places, I think all the take-out joints have written copies available. It strains my neck to have to stand there and decide. That is why it is four stars.

My favorite place for bagels and coffee! I love potato bagels and I love it extra extra crispy

So fresh and so good. Their bagels are excellent; chewy on the inside and crispy on the outside. They have so many different kinds of bagels and lots of ways to get them prepared its always hard to choose. They also have a couple of different low fat spreads as options. The only thing that was lacking was their customer service. They were always so busy that it would take FOREVER and a day to get our food. But we learned to deal with it and just lounged outside on the patio.

You know, I really like Einstein Bros Bagels (EBB). They have great fresh food that is more on the pricey side, but is worth it once you take a bite. I always order the Tastey Turkey with the Asiago Bagel with Onion shmear. My boyfriend always gets the Chipotle wrap and he loves it, also it comes with a side and we always get chips which is great also! Here is why I give it three starts. For some reason, EBB has poor consistency. Every time I go the employees always seem to be new which in turns always turns out to having some sort of complication with my order. For example, I did not even know each order comes with a pickle until my third time going here. I didn't know because they forgot to put in my pickle for all three times when I first started coming here. Now I have to monitor the employees to make sure they give me what I am supposed to get. Another issue is that they are always out of the Asiago bagel. I know that the Asiago bagel is popular, however, that does not give them reason to be out of it EVERY time I go in to get something to eat. I have only been able to get the Asiago bagel once in the 3 months I have been eating here. Also, there have been numerous times someone has messed up either mine or my boyfriends order, which makes me have to watch the employees and make sure they do everything right the first time around. They have also almost forgotten to give me my walnut strudel once, I was able to tell the employee that he forgot one of my orders. However, I highly do not believe in having to monitor the employees when I have to pay on the higher end for a simple bagel sandwich. So there you have it! The food tastes great but the management of the place is poor, but I still go because I love their food. Just make sure you watch the people making your food so they don't mess up!

If I'm paying $8+ for a bagel with lox and a small coffee, it better be the best lox bagel I've ever had...and it wasn't. It was a good bagel, nothing special. Two petty slices of onion. Lox. And capers really poorly distributed, so when you bite you get none in one and a whole mouth full in the next. This place is nothing special. eh

I really like this bagel house, and usually frequent here...however the cleanliness is a whole other story!!! The back area(behind the register is disgusting in my opinion and needs a through clean and should always be keep up to par. I understand it is a fast paced place, and with so many things and people moving fast it will naturally get out of control at times, but in my book there is no excuse for being clean!

Where do I begin ... So, it all started when I was in line. I ordered 2 egg white panini's with a coupon I received in the mail. I went to pay for my food and learned that my coupons would not work. Not only that, the manager guy examines the coupon like I'm trying to scam him! I JUST WANTED MY FOOD FOR CHEAPER (those panini's for $5 are totally not worth it)! Upon waiting, I wondered why it was taking so long. I had a class to catch and left early to get breakfast here. I waited and waited. Then asked an employee where my food was. Turned out, they gave it to someone else!!! Since they lost my food, someone was ordered to make me a new one. As I waited, the lady who accidentally took my order came back and returned it. By then it was too late. They took my food out of the bag and threw it away. I understand food codes and such but it was hard to see them toss perfectly good food away. Finally my food arrives. Since I was already late, I grabbed my panini and dashed ... but too my surprise, THEY GOT MY ORDER WRONG! I wasted 20 minutes for food I didn't order and an insincere, obligatory apology from the manager guy. I don't YELP much, but I felt like I should inform others of their unprofessional behavior. BTW, the bagels are good however, I would only go KNOWING that that stupid manager guy isn't working.

I've eaten here twice. On both occasions the service was horrible and the food wasn't much better.

Sandwiches are good quality and nice portions. Service is hit or miss. I recommend Club Mex on Challah (toasted). Fantastic but get it to go.

It's...(surprisingly) impressive! And to think I was just about to go on that low-carb diet! Not anymore! I have yet to try a bagel that's just as soft and fluffy. I've only tried the blueberry bagel with reduced cream cheese. *drools* I don't think I'm going to stop there... I mean-- there are a lot of varieties in terms of bagels and shmear. Oh baby...

I was there around 9:45am, on a Sunday. Not only did it take about 25 min for 2 toasted bagels, half their bagels were gone. By the time I got my bagel, it was cold. I won't be going here again.

I don't consider myself a bagel connoisseur, but I do know when I like the bagels and the cream cheese at certain places...this is one of those places...so decided to stop by for breakfast today on my way in to work...and boy was I lucky...I tend to order the LOX at bagel places and this was not going to be an exception...by far the freshest piece of salmon I have had from a franchise bagel shop...and by far the best texture and consistency in bagels...this...and what my cousin ordered is all I have had there...she had the blueberry bagel and strawberry cream cheese...great choices on both of our parts...unfortunately she doesn't yelp...so ill do it for her.... I can already tell that this relationship is getting started on the right food Mr. Einstein Bros...

Kind of pricey for a special bagel, but the lox (smoked salmon) toasted bagel with a smoked salmon schmear is just too good.

This review is not for the bagels, but the coffee. It's so good. It's bold, rich and delicate. it stays hot and it doesn't give you a complete crash later in the day. But I still don't get how to play the "flip the lid game." how do you find out if you win? haha..please help!
