I have been here more than 20 times and not once had a bad experience. Food is amazing, staff are very friendly and it's just a fantastic place to eat

Shiraz is a family favorite for us. Even though it's probably not the most popular Persian restaurant in Glendale, I'd say it's the best. The food is extremely tasty and fresh loaded with all kinds of exotic spices. I highly recommend the fillet Mignon kebab plate. Take heed that their portions are massive, so you might want to share with someone.

Shiraz is one of the BEST Persian restaurants in Glendale (besides Raffis, too). I LOVE LOVE LOVE their "hor-me-sab-zi" a lamb and kidney bean dish with green stuff. It's amazing! Anything you order will be tasty, fresh and juicy. It's a large restaurant and quiet too. I had my high school graduation party in their small private back room. Staff is fast but not really friendly. Takeout is great - I've done it MANY times.

I went here twice last week. Once for a small birthday lunch, the second time with a large group as a farewell lunch for our summer interns. All the food here was really good, and there was a lot! Don't expect to leave hungry. It's also well priced and I found the waiter (same one both times) to be very friendly and helpful. We sat out on the patio both times and I really liked it. It's covered and surrounded by plants, the roof is some sort of corrugated plastic sheeting that let natural light in, so it had a green house effect to it. I would definitely recommend this place, and I'd will be coming here again.

We went back to Shiraz last Saturday night for my son's birthday dinner. There were 15 of us in our party. The manager took excellent care of us; the service and food were great, and so was the belly dancer. Makayla, I love you!

The food here is your basic persian food - which is really good (!), no need to get any fancier with it. I frequent this location for lunch with coworkers since it's so close and fairly inexpensive. The only problem is that they don't believe in turning on the air conditioner, hence I won't be going anytime soon now that it's summer. While the patio area is very nice it just gets too hot in summer. So farewell til fall!

Love Love Love this place! I live in San Jose but everytime I'm in the area which is often I/we manage to go there! The food is great and they serve a lot of it; prices are fair; service is fantastic!; and it is a very frindly and professional environment! Great place!!!!!

Heaven on earth. The best Persian food restaurant in the Glendale/Burbank area.

  • Nathan L.

The food was good, hummus was fresh, but service was sub-par. I literally had to flag my waitress down when I needed something. The table next to us sat down after us, had drinks and ate before we even got drinks. I think I'll stick to the middle eastern restaurants in LA.

Shiraz is really a ritzy looking place. I took a new hire and my coworkers for a working lunch. The servings are huge, make sure to take your appetite with you. I love love love the lamb kabobs. The prices were very reasonable, especially since I paid a lot more for a similar meal at Raffi's.

    (4)
  • Eric Z.

Shiraz usually has good food, but the servers could be annoying. Once I went to Shiraz and sat at the table. There were several servers standing and only paying attention to tables with several guests. I was one person and sat there for a good hour and there was no service. Got up and left. I suppose the tip for one dish of food was not worth serving the food.

  • P P.

Terrible. We spent over 45 bucks and didnt eat the food it was so bad. The gheimeh tasted like tomatoe sauce with old fries and meat that smelled like it had gone bad days ago. The rice was unedible since it was hard and half of it was uncooked. The sabzi polo tasted like someone took the hard rice and poured syrup on it and the yogurt was sweet for some odd reason. This is not the Shiraz from years ago. And when i told the manager about the unedible rice and he saw that we had barely touched our food he just smiled and confirmed that the rice was uncooked. ?? There are so many other places where u can have decent Persian food dont make the mistake i did.

  • BOZ G.

Use to be really good before the new owners took over, change the chef, and now the kabobs are dry and tasteless.

    (2)
  • Mark David Y.

I love their kebabs, because meats are tender and juicy.

  • Moye I.

DEEELICIOUS. Seriously. Don't make me choose which place, Shiraz or Pistachio Grill, has the best Persian food in LA. Cause I might have to hurt you. Yummy cherry rice, tender kabobs, melt-in-your-mouth grape leaves (I know you're thinking, "Um, those aren't supposed to melt in your mouth," but you know what? Sometimes, things that are so good just DO.), delicious fresh Persian tea, those honey-drenched desserts and really nice waiters. Plus, I swear the Persian mafia were holding a super important meeting next to us. I kept trying to eavesdrop and they were saying things like "the Valley group" and the "Pasadena group" and "electing leaders" and "let's put together a plan" and it was all so deliciously scary.

I've been coming to this restaurant for over ten years. The food is consistently excellent. Their Persian dishes are very authentic and tasty. The service is just ok and the decor is a bit tacky.

Shiraz has been in Glendale for many years and I go there in different occassion. The food normaly is good the service depends on the server mood sometimes good some times bad in my opinion. If you get good one you are lucky. I like there food and normally I am satisfied. The reason of one star I ordered there daily special KOOBIDEH KABOB WITH SANGAK BREAD . The Koobideh was very good but the cooked tomato it was rotten and the basil that comes with it was cheap basil and it didn't taste nothing like basil. It was total dissapointment, you pay a lot of money $$$ and you get dissapointed. Quality of food it should be number 1 for shiraz resturant including the beef rice tomato, chicken, the bread etc. Few blocks away its Raffi place and its always great food and serviice. So Shiraz must do there best to provide good quality food and service if they care about there customers. I will change my rating if Shiraz improves there quality of food on my next visit.

I love this place i go here every opportunity i get. The food is just out of this world and the workers are really nice. I try to improve on my Persian every time i am here. I had my 20th birthday here was just great. I love the live entertainment. The second floor is great because it has a nice bar and dance floor. So if you are thinking of were to go on a week end or don't know what to do with your girlfriend or boyfriend this is the best place i would recommend. Its also nice that i can order food and pick it up so i can eat while i'm watching a movie at home.

I went here on a date so maybe my mental state is what resulted in this review. I ordered a meat dish that I recall being chicken and there was either bread (pitas) or rice. I don't recall the food being memorable but will have to come back to give it a fair review. For now, all I can say is that the food was not memorable.

  • Brandy C.

Went here once a week for 8 moz and always looked forward to my meals. I would have given it 5 stars but I've been to Shamshiri and like it better. The good: Lunch specials, lunch specials, lunch specials!!! The boneless chicken kabob is great (so is the chicken koobideh), they have an amazing ashe mast soup, great borani appetizer, excellent rice (cherry rice - albaloo polo and the rice w/the currants - zereshk polo) and spectacular fessenjun. The bad: Any special rice dishes w/your lunch special will cost you $3 extra (but they're worth it). Also, check your receipt b/c they will tack it on even if you didn't get the special rice. The ugly: They have a large outdoor covered patio which is nice in theory. However, if you want to sit outside during the hot summer months, be prepared to surround yourself with a cloud of smoke.

  • Meg L.

this is the best place for persian/armenian food. Their kebabs are so tender and the rice pilaf is always perfect. They have just finished renovating I guess and it looks very nice, they have a musician on the weekends and he is very good but like Shiree S. stated he is awfully loud. There is this eggplant appetizer that I love, I can't remember the name, but it is fabulous, try it!

Disgusting no flavor in food . Go to Raffis way better and cleaner Koobideh-low grade badly seasoned Rice - basic just like all these yelp reviewers rating this dump 4-5 stars

I like this place and their food for to go. Haven't been disappointed so far and ordering food here for over a year now! I like their free dessert for you check in ;) Thank you!

People, you need to stop comparing kabob places to Raffi's Place. This place is good on it's own merits and the service was really good for the 100+ group we had. Parking can be tricky because it's severely limited, but there is parking on the street and you might have to circle once or twice-no big deal. They do offer valet parking for special events so don't let that worry you. The food here was very very good. Being a big kabob fan, I did enjoy everything. The do know their kabobs! The servers have mastered the art of handling big crowds and we never had an empty cup or dish sit on our table too long. Overall, I like this place and will come back when I'm in the area.

I had so much fun here! My mom and I had a blast dancing and watching others dance to the live music. There was a birthday at every table in the place and people were there to have fun! -Live music -Good food -Decent pricing --Free parking in back-- --You will be greeted at the door-- There are also banquet halls that were pretty nice there as well if that's what you're looking for.

  • Baharak A.

Two stars only for Barg! That's about it. Sorry I don't want to complain, And the service was not good specially after getting served for dessert over our dirty finished dishes of lunch. Our table never got cleaned till we left! And sorry appetizers, salads and food did not had flavor. Oh and tea! You know how important is tea. It smelled and tasted like detergents! Enough. Will not be back.

I always enjoy the food here! Khormesabzi pilaf and a simple plate of bbq chicken, rice and grilled veggies hit the spot. If you want a great place to fulfill your Persian food cravings, you're set!

I went to Shiraz today to celebrate my son's birthday. Everyone loved the food and the service was great. Our waiter was Rodrigo. They had music and a belly dancer and we all had a great time. My husband and i danced on the floor and he even danced with the belly dancer and she danced with my son too. They even played the happy birthday song for my son. I have been coming to Shiraz for a few years and have always been a satisfied customer. I love the Baghali polo lamb shank and for desert i had the pistachio ice cream. Was delicious. This was definitely a fun dinner.

I've been here a handful of times in the past, usually to celebrate a birthday. Each visit is always good. Good food, service and entrainment. Today was nothing short of great! My friend received an email invitation to try a tasting of their upcoming new menu items. Luckily, we were able to RSVP just in time with Brian, as today was the last day we could do this. We received a pleasant greeting as usual from Brian. Nono was playing his saxophone with his electronic band. We didn't wait very long until the food for tasting was brought out by Afarin and Victor. Lamb fajitas, filet mignon tacos, Lamborghini burger, and spaghetti with stuffed meatballs (feta and goat cheese). All of their new menu items were very tasty! Great portions, and very flavorful. All in all, a spectacular visit. Looking forward to my next celebration!

Terrible customer service!! We brought two young kids with us and when we went to leave this fat bastard who works there yelled over that he needed 2 bus boys to clean up our "huge mess" right by us. He made a giant deal and yelled to "grab the mop!" There was literally a few pieces of meat on the floor. We left and my daughter had to use the bathroom. I walked back in and the table was already clean. Unbelievably rude and the food was terrible to boot. Take your business to Raffis!

Every time I come here I am impressed. This time Victor is an awesome server. Ask for Victor only. Just kidding of course. It is just a present experience. Thank you Shiraz and thank you Victor. Been back since and Frank served us. Awesome service

  • Daniel D.

Victor was our server and gave excellent customer service. We ordered the Chicken Kouvideh with maust khiar, a veal and eggplant stew (can't remember the name), and a free tiramisu in exchange for a yelp check-in. The portions were large and the prices were reasonable (no extra charge for extra burnt tomatoes.) Most importantly - AMPLE PARKING! We'll be back.

My boyfriend and I decided to have dinner here last night and I am so happy we did. It's hard to believe I have lived in Glendale my entire life (25 years) and I have not once ate here. I have passed by this place a million times. Anyways, once we walked in we were greeted and instantly sat down. Our waiter Victor was awesome! He was super sweet and patient, my boyfriend and I could not decide what to eat. We ordered the cucumber yogurt and hummus as appetizers, and both got two different entrees. Our food was so amazing! The food quality is amazing, the décor of the restaurant was beautiful! We ate our dinner and listened to soft music playing in the background. There was an older gentleman who was also playing the saxophone, he was so good! The food was so good I actually agreed to pack it up to go, and I never ever do that! It was a great experience and I will definitely be back. 5 stars!

I went yesterday for dinner to this restaurant. The place looks fancy very nice and clean. The server was Fernando very friendly and very quick. The food was bomb very tasty. I asked for my free dessert and they let me choose from all the dessert that they have available the one that I wanted. Is a little expensive but it's worth it and you will be full!!!! The only thing that I don't like it about this place was the restrooms. They looked dirty and old. Besides that everything was good. I'll definitely come back to this place

  • Romel D.

Shiraz is what I like to call a dining experience! I have never been to a more authentic restaurant like this! The food was delicious! FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DONT KNOW, I am ASIAN. I am very critical about my rice. That being said, the rice is fantastic. Soft and buttery. Just perfect to complement the tender meat. The service was fantastic! Our server Afarin was very welcoming and accommodating. Being that it was my first time at a REAL middle eastern restaurant she was very helpful. Rodrigo was also tending to us. It was just great service all around! l will come again! Support Your Local Businesses! Eat Up!

Shiraz was my worst experience in Persian restaurants in south so far! we found the place through Yelp(??) and decided to go with our friends there.there was a Birthday ceremony for 3 years old baby happening there with belly Dancing!!!(maybe the father of baby requested the dance for himself)!very loud music playing which we requested several times(at least 3-4)time to reduce the sound.then the manager showed up and refused our request again impolitely which we decided to leave the restaurant earlier than we expected.the food was cold and not good at all. Honestly i am not recommending this place to anyone!

Beef koobideh...good. Chicken koobideh...good. Their khoreshts aren't the best I've had but they aren't bad either. We eat here often and I've never had anything bad from here. Recommended :)

Wow honestlyy was not expecting their service to get any better then what it was but my server Victor today went above and beyond.... Truly was a great employee. Very attentive he suggested great dishes for us to try, brought out our food warm, fast, and perfect... He was kind and always came by to make sure we were doing ok.. He also brought fruit with our bill.. Definitely will be back.. The service at shiraz is uncomparable to any other place.

Authentic, fresh, excellent Persian food! Ambiance is kind of cheesy, but please overlook it and just enjoy the wonderful meals. The waiter from Honduras is super friendly and cute. A good place that deserves a good review.

I attended a private party here, so we did not eat in the main restaurant or patio, we were in the upstairs banquet area, just want to make that clear. We did not order off a menu, either, so I have no idea what is or is not on it. This review is basically for the food alone. I have never had Persian food before, really. I did once go to a Persian cafe in Beverly Hills, but that was about 7 million years ago, so I am not going to count that. The place was a little hard to find, for me, because I am like Mr. Magoo when I am driving in an area I don't normally drive around in (basically any city outside of Covina-San Dimas-LaVerne area) and it is right off busy Glendale Blvd. Parking is plentiful and in the BACK, so you should turn BEFORE you see the sign for the restaurant. The decor seems very 1984 to me, but it is clean and welcoming. There is a very large covered patio where other diners were enjoying heaping plates of rice and chicken. The interior is huge, bigger than it seems from the outside that's for sure. We were served many small tapas-like dishes as a first course. They were all delicious! There were dolmas (vegetarian), eggplant (is it called baba ganoush? Not sure- It looked unappetizing, brown and sludgey, but being a brave Yelp-warrior, tasted and was rewarded. I could make a meal of that on the warm pita), Tabbouleh, yogurt and cucumber with dill, a refreshing salad and marinated vegetables. Next up we had fried talapia filets, served with herbed rice. The rice was fantastic- I could taste dill, and I am not sure what else, but very herbal. The talapia, which normally I hate because I think it tastes like dirt, was light, non-fishy, and really yummy. Even my fish-hater daughter enjoyed it. Next was grilled chicken, saffron rice, grilled veg, and two types of a ground-meat-like patty shaped like a sausage. (I am realizing how ill-prepared I am to write this review, I don't know the names, sadly, I apologize!) This dish was less of a hit. The chicken was just OK, it was missing that grilled flavor and char, and the ground meat was gamey and salty. I preferred the other rice as well, this was a little bland, but I did enjoy the grilled vegetables, which were nicely charred. There was a LOT of food, very generous. The servers were pleasant. All in all, I liked it, it definitely got me thinking about trying more Persian cuisine.

Really good food and great service. I got the koobideh which was very juicy. My wife got the lamb kabob and although it looked like chicken, it was very delicious. The ambiance is pretty nice and very clean. The chairs could be nicer, but that's just a small knock.

I been to this place three times and every time is really GOOD!! The service and the food are GOOD! Would recommend this place. I did hear from my friend that the female waiters are very lazy. I haven't had a chance to be served by one of the females. But other than that great place.

    (5)
  • Allen Y.

Visited the place for a small party/gathering on a Friday night. I gotta admit that the food is really delicious and prices are reasonable! The service is okay, definitely needs improvement. Entertainment was bad (one guy does everything pretty much) and the worst thing is that they closed it at 11pm on the weekends when everyone is ready to dance/enjoy the music. NOT A good idea especially for a restaurant with entertainment/alcohol. Management, please make a note of that.

  • Spunky M.

This was my first time. It's a good spot with strong service. The food was tasty. Just so you know: this place is loud with synthesizer music and people come dressed to dance. It was very festive but hard to have a conversation. There's an outside patio that we only saw after leaving, so we should have sat there. And it's really kid friendly, so lots of kids run around. It's pretty much a community spot. There was a belly dancer and also a woman selling long stemmed roses. It felt like a prom night for adults!

  • Silvia C.

My one star is for the customer service they provided me tonight. It was NONE. Our waiter went MIA on our table. Came around just to pick up our credit card. Not once did he come around to refill our drinks. But was very attentive to the other guests dining. Food was amazing. It was my first time here, but I wouldn't come back. I will continue to give my business to Raffis. The only reason I came here is because they close a little later than Raffis.

Spur of the moment decision to have dinner @ Shiraz with my folks and lil brother in town from college. The place was packed, everyone was definitely having a good time. Lively atmosphere & delicious food. Byron, mgr hooked it up with a great last minute table & I have to say overall: EXCELLENT SERVICE. Kudos to our waiter (wish I got his name) he was efficient, courteous, not fake & annoying, simply put: perfect! We will be back for sure. Great place.

Rude customer service !!!!!!! I have been ordering from there for years and I always liked their food . So I decided to order lunch for my grandmother and have it delivered to her. When the deliver guy got there he asked for a tip !!! My grandmother didn't have change with her at that time so her guest has to pay from her own pocket! I always give tips and generous ones but sometimes it happens like This time that she ain't have any change by her . A tip is voluntary not mandatory ! Will never order from here again

I'm going to start off by saying this WAS my favorite Persian restaurant. My family and I have been coming here for years! I love the food, the koobideh beef and chicken are my favorites. Most entrees are barbequed meat that come with rice and a grilled tomato. The appetizers are also tasty, my personal favorite is the Mast mousir, which is shallots in yogurt. You should take this To-go and try it with some plain chips.. My favorite, Yum! So now let me tell you about my worst experience here. It was probably the worst service I have ever experienced in my life. I was with my parents and my dad is not one to complain or get upset at restaurants but this time he snapped! We arrived, sat down and ordered our drinks along with some appetizers. About fifteen minutes later the waiter came back and brought us a pitcher of JUST ICE and asked for our dinner orders. What the hell are we supposed to do with just ice? No cups either! We ordered a barg, a koobideh chicken and a koobideh beef.. All different barbequed meats. The waiter left and did not show up again until another 15 minutes passed with just ONE of the dinner entrees. Mind you, we still have not received our DRINKS (30 minutes in) or our appetizers. Suddenly, one of our food plates arrive. My dad was very angry and let the waiter know.. We told him we no longer wanted the appetizers since the food was now here. They apologized, brought our drinks and brought the appetizers anyways (charged us for it too.) By the time the koobideh plates arrived my fathers food, which was sitting there another ten minutes, was already cold. He was so upset he didn't even want to eat it. I must say, after this mishap I have not returned to Shiraz and don't know if I will again. The food is good but not good enough for me to put up with that service.

We've been coming here for years now. Classic Persian Armenian food here. The interior is not too gaudy or intimidating. Its pretty beautiful. On weekends though they have live entertainment & large groups/private parties. I absolutely love their boneless Chicken Kabob plate. The chicken is perfectly marinated & never dry. Their original white basmati rice is always fluffy & perfectly cooked. My favorite rices here though are their Persian Shirin Polo which consist of almond slivers, saffron & sweetened bites of orange peel. Its absolutely amazing. Their Albaloo Polo is another favorite of mine which is fluffy basmati rice with sweet and sour cherries. I tend to lean toward the sweet & savory combinations more. However, their Baghali Polo is not to be missed if your looking for a healthy alternative to rice. It's a mix of fluffy rice baby Lima beans, & fresh dill. If your looking for Authentic Persian States they have them all. My favorite being the Khorest Bamieh stew which contains fancy potatoes, carrots, magical Okra(not slimy at all) in a rich tomato sauce. If you love Eggplant They have this Bedenjan Stew that's so good with their plain white basmati rice. The slightly sour taste from the dried limes & rich tomato sauce pair well with the perfectly cooked right eggplant. I also love their Borani Badenjan which is fried cooked eggplant drenched in this yogurt sauce with sauteed onions & garlic. Don't forget to enjoy your Sabzi(green plate) served with ever diner. Fresh Basil, Mint, Onions & radish to accompany all their meals. A staple at any Persian table.

Service is slower than a turtle driving on the 405 at 5pm. Be prepared to wait forever despite the abundance of servers. Food was perfect though so I can't give it too few stars.

Ordered food to go a while back and it was probably some of the best Persian/ Iranian I've ever had. Still remember how impressed I was. I'm Not exaggerating. I have a list for all the Iranian restaurants in LA cause I eat at Iranian restaurants very often. And as someone who cooks this type of food at home, I was really impressed by the quality, portion size, and taste at Shiraz in Glendale. Prices are a little bit more than in the San Fernando Valley but comparable to Westwood. I have not been here for a sit down experience so I can't tell you about service etc. But the person who took my order and handed me the food was really nice. Highly recommend coming here. The parking is a small lot in the back.

    (5)
  • Lala A.

Love this place! The parking lot is very convenient and the food is always ready..their food is really good especially the rice! I wouldn't recommend this place if it's a holiday of any kind since they always hurry to get the food ready; therefore, it's not in its best quality. The staff is very friendly though; they always check to make sure you're happy with the food!

I really enjoy eating at this place. Service is excellent thanks to Victor and everything is always tasty and high quality. I personally prefer this place over Raffi's Place. Food seems to be not as fatty and less heavy. The owner is real Persian not Armenian

Great quality food. Ordered via eat 24 and despite the lengthy delivery wait, we were delighted with the food. Appetisers were delicious and the Kebobs were all really tasty. We had salmon, lamb and chicken - all were top quality. Will definitely go back to Shiraz. Professional and helpful when we called and very polite and apologetic delivery driver.

Ordered a salad appetizer, didn't receive it until a long time after the main food. Asked for more bread, didn't receive it.. Service was not good. Was very packed as well. Asked for more water before receiving my meal and didn't receive it until after my bill... Never received my free desert. Food was 7/10.

Went here Friday night, we were sitting outside. I ordered ceaser salad with chicken at 10$ it was ok but too much croutons were added. My friend ordered a masto khiar order and for rhe main course beef koobideh with zereshk and an ash must soup which the guy said comes with lunch and a soda I had water. The zeresht polo was saggy like it was reheated with water and fhe koobideh didnt taste like beef, it lacked seasoning i dont know what it was beans or what ever but it sure didnt taste like beef. We wait, wait, wait 15 after we were done we decided tongo in and tell the fuy they forgot about us. So the lady says sorry and goes to the guy, She comes back with the guy 3 4 minutes later and a 42$ check!!!!!! Why i dont know so i just paid i gave them a 100$ again 3 4 minutes until i get my change back. My friend tipped them 4$ after we got out I was Irate i got into an argument with my friend i was like why did you tip them they never came to check on us we never got refill on our drinks. What did they do bring us food which rhey had to in order to get paid. I went here 1 time before I was happy because the guy was super nice and we ordered tea after we got our check and didnt charge us for the tea I think I left a review on that but with this service, I will never return here.

Ash mast, vegeterian fesenjoon, khoresh bademjan were our order. All of them were really delicious and fresh. Another time we had albaloo polo and vegetable kabob, and chicken kabob. As always yummy and fresh. Victor our waiter was really nice, fast, respectful and funny, and he knows some Farsi words, if you are persian, ask him and have fun :)

I hadn't been here in years (its kind of hidden), but I'm glad I was there! I had the koobideh plate and it was so good. The food is just as good as Raffi's. Prices are very good for the quality of food you get. I;ll be back!

This is by far my Favorite Mediterranean spot. The quality of the meat and the juicyness takes my heart. Boneless chicken and the beef kebabs are to die for. I make the 30 minute drive often. WAY WORTH IT!

Came here for my dads birthday in hopes of having an enjoyable time with my family. Rodrigo made that possible as well as exceeding great customer service by going out of his way to make us happy. I will definitely come back, not only for the delicious food but because of my experience here. Very polite and fast food service. Thank you, Rodrigo!!

Happy ending story, We came here late night from Volleyball match (USA vs Iran) being happy and starving :) The only place which was open-according to Yelp- was Shiraz restaurant. We arrived on time but the kitchen was closed. There was a nice, handsome guy named Bryon -General Manger. Although we didn't eat there that night, he asked us to come back tomorrow and be his guest, amazing isn't it!? We came a day after for lunch, Leila was a pretty lady who took care of us with devious meal and dessert. Thanks Bryon and Lila you made our trip to LA unforgettable.

I have been here so many times and have different experiences. The quality of food is really good but you might prepare yourself for some unforseen difficulties. For instance, when they are handling a party, you have to wait long. Not everything is neat, one time there was a small butterfly in my herb, and when I let them know about it, they did nothing!. Other than that, it's worth going there. I highly recommend their 'fesenjan stew', 'soltani kabab', and 'ash mast'.

So this year, I decided to do my birthday here. It didn't turn out as good. Because my birthday fell on a monday, there was no musician. I was actually ok with that, because the manager Bryan, said that the other manager Artin, could put some Pandora for us. So we decided to do that. The day arrived, we ate food, which was perfect, but they never brought the appetizers. We wanted to dance so I went to talk to the manager Artin to put some Armenian music, and all he said was "sorry I don't have armenian stations" I told him that Bryan told us that he could put any music we wanted. And again, all he said was, "I can't do that, but I can put other stations for you" so that's what he did. Only that they were American songs and the sound was low. So we didn't dance. Then came dessert, which was a COMPLETE DISASTER. The coffe and tea smelled like detergent and they never brought us fruit. That night I was so pissed that the next day me and my brother went to talk to Bryan. When I went inside I asked the waiter if I could talk to Bryan and he said that he was gone. So the waiter offered us to talk to the owner. Which we agreed to. I explained to the owner why we were here, and ALL did was yell to us. We got mad and left. The next day we went to talk to Artin and he thinks he made a "solution" for the problem that actually made me laugh. We never got to talk to Bryan, and I really hope the food wasn't leftovers from Sunday. IF YOU ARE READING THIS DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT YOUR JUST WASTING YOUR MONEY AND TIME. I COULD GIVE IT 0 STARS IF I COULD. SHAME ON THIS RESTAURANT. AMOT E.

Was craving RAFFIS but didnt want to drive out in this triple digit heat with my 1 year old baby, so I stumbled upon this place on eat24. They have a minimum $20 for delivery, so I ordered a greek salad and the ahi kabob with shirazi. When the delivery guy came he looked upset and proceeded to tell me that I was lucky I wasnt charged for delivery because its outside their radius. I wish I didnt pretip them almost $5 because of his rude demeanor. Anyways onto the food. Greek Salad: Didnt look appetizing at all especially because of all the wilted lettuce pieces. They also over did it with some weird seasoning which was sprinkled everywhere. The ranch dressing is probably from a hidden valley costco bottle. I feel sooo wasteful but I just cant find myself to eat it. Basically throwing away $10. Shirazi: Totally inedible. Extremely salty and so sour that I had to spit it out. This is from someone who loves vinegar and sour things. It tastes like they used fake lemon concentrate. The kind they sell in plastic lemons or limes. Tasted totally artificial. Yuck. Ahi Kabob: Afterall the disappointments at least the ahi was really good. However, I did end up tasting a bit of the rice and its stIll no where near as good as raffis buttery greatness. In conclusion I basically spent $34 to eat just the filet of a mahi mahi. Im a mother on a budget so this was pretty painful. #feelingwasteful and regretful

4 stars, B in my book Victor is AWESOME. My experience here for lunch was just wonderful. The food was delicious. Yogurt soup was a tad small but good flavor. The special lunch kabob thing was very well portioned full of buttery goodness. Food is great, service was great, large quantity and quality for price. On par with raffis but more casual. 4 because I just don't give 5's unless my mind is blown. Victor is again just super duper.

First and foremost, I like CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am all about being catered to. I went to a special affair that was for about 20 people, and one server especially stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Her name was AFARIN. Never ONCE, was my plate or glass empty. Never ONCE did I have to turn around and look for server. She was always there, ready to refill beverage, bread, salad, whatever, my dinner companion or I needed. As far as the food, the Hummus and Mast o Khiar were dead on what I expected, chicken kebob, everything our host ordered came out perfectly and delicously. Loved the entertainment and belly dancing. Such a wonderful night. Food and customer service. What more can one ask for??

After a successful two-day rental of the Shiraz parking lot for a special event, I came here last Saturday night to have dinner with Tommy W. and Mindi E. We let the manager order for us... and we were glad we did since we got a lot of items we might not have chosen otherwise. The food was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE, so much so that we ate until we were stuffed... and then stuffed again on Sunday with all the leftovers. SO DELICIOUS. On top of all that, the music and the belly-dancing entertainment was a lot of fun. This place is VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The worst service ever! Do not go here. We came here for a birthday celebration and brought our own small cake. First off, we had no silverware and after asking 3 times, we finally got silverware, but only for half our table. When our food eventually came, it was the wrong order and they also forgot all of our appetizers. After dinner we had several plates of leftovers. The servers packed up our leftovers and took them to the kitchen where they mysteriously disappeared. The worst part is that I complained to the manager, but he was unapologetic and aloof.

We made a reservation through Yelp for Mother's Day. We came here at the time we reserved our table and Alex, the hostess, denied service because she said that the reservation didn't register through Yelp even though I had pulled up the reservation on my Yelp account and email as well and showed it to her. Ruined our Mother's Day.

I wish I could have given this place a zero! On Thursday we ordered Sultani and took it to my father in laws house for his birthday. We ordered over $200 worth of food from a restaurant I used to love as a kid. Since that night my entire family has been sick, throwing up, have diarrhea and Sharp stomach pain. My father in law being older had to go to ER and get his stomach pumped. When my husband called the Manager Brian, his response was that he sells Kebabs all the time and no one has complained. I know we are not the only ones. If my family suffered this, so did others. I highly recommend you stay AWAY from this place!

Me and my wife were invited to try their new menu items, We made reservation and got there early, the host greeted us promptly and we sat and our server came interdicted her self (Afarin) she was very polite and she said the food will be out shortly, we tried all there new items the burger was great there spaghetti was like home cooked, there new tacos were fantastic and there fajitas were very Delicious, I hope they do put these items on there menu. I have been coming here for the past 20 years and every time I come they take care of me like family.

A place not too far away from the main area of Glendale. At first the outside make it seem that the venue is a regular restaurant but as you enter you can sense good vibes. Our waiter, Victor, greeted us in a welcoming fashion making us feel comfortable as it is my first time being in a middle eastern cuisine restaurant. The place seems quite pricey for an average teenager like myself but going with a family is an advantage, though I would not mind paying for myself. Aside from going on in a tangent, the place is very nice overall.

I've been going to Shiraz restaurant for over 10 years. The place had few owners throughout the years but the food never changed...amazing/delicious/fresh with friendly people...my favorite dish is the boneless chicken plate that comes with generous amount of Basmati rice...I argue with anyone who favors Raffi's place verses Shiraz anytime..LOVE YOU SHIRAZ...

Food was very good. Victor is a good waiter. Ikra was yummy but a bit too smoky. Shirazi salad was tasty and the right mix of sour and fresh. Barg was very tender. I got the fassenjan, pomegranate and walnut chicken stew. Yum yum! It was almost like mole a bit. Fresh items were really nice. The pita was amazing! Quite quite good and I can't wait to go back. The portions were huge and we got the mango mousse to go. It looks delicious!

I am not a type that would write a note and sneak in the suggestion box, let alone spending time and writing a review, but I'd like to rave -- about the restaurant people who keep me coming back for more, more for all the delicious meals on the menu that I practically have tried every single one - at least three times. I'm talking about the folks who make me say, "This is why I come in here. This is the face I want to see. This is the person who's got the goods to make sure my time and money are well spent." Having spent half my life trying various cuisines from all different cultures, and have visited all types of restaurants from hole in the walls to exotic and fancy exclusives that rich and famous gather, I know this: You can teach the tenets of good restaurant service, but you can't teach someone to love what they do, and for that reason alone to do it well. While food and mood play a big part in scoring patron loyalty, certain restaurateurs have a knack for finding -- and keeping -- staffers whose "love-my-job" attitude is among the reasons we're willing to put up with lengthy waits. But trendsetting décor or an award-winning chef isn't a necessary part of the great-service equation. I still recall Afarin, the smiling waitress who pulled the side chair off my table and joined me and my 6 year old daughter and started a conversation about fairies and princesses that stole my child's heart and made this place to be our secret hangout and Friday after school rituals. Guess whose section we always had to request to be seated after that? My family and I have been regulars for the past 25 years and recently, I came to realize that how much this place has grown and improved. Food quality is insanely fresh, the taste of the meal is out of this world, the family friendly atmosphere is second to none, the staff, AHHH.., the staff, it's like you are having all your lifetime friends surround you and make you feel home. There is nothing these waiters and waitresses, kitchen staff or management would not do to make your experience heavenly and memorable. Either the owner or one of the managers, Artin or Farhad, will personally approach and greet, will check if everything was as expected - twice. The staff that are not even waiting on your table will offer assistance every time they walk by. The cook, GOD bless him and keep him healthy so he can cook in the kitchen for as long as I am alive. Brian, OH Brian, the General Manager, OH MY GOD, there has not yet been a time which he has not dropped whatever he was busy with and come close and after hugs and handshakes, pulled the chair and sat with us and while chatting about life, family, and success stories, practically have lunch with us. People! - Give Shiraz a try! I guarantee you will become addicted to this place!

A friend recommended this Persian restaurant, we happened to be in the Glendale area and tried it tonight. So my boyfriend said I needed to try this restaurant that him and his family have been coming for a while now. Since we were in the area we decided to stop by. Found parking pretty quick and were greeted right away at the entrance by Afarin. She sat us down and a took our orders. Food did take a bit long but I believe because they had an event upstairs since we could hear the actual music from upstairs. I do have to say the food was worth the wait. I was completely satisfied with everything. Most definitely will be coming back here and definitely recommend it to my family!

This place has spectacular food. The reason I am giving 4 stars versus 5 is because the music can be REALLY loud. I sat outdoors and I was fine but when I went inside to use the restroom, the loud music gave me anxiety. I have no complaints about their food or service it was great. Actually one of the best Persian food places I have ever ate at.

  • Brian L.

This place was awesome from the moment we walked in they were very friendly sat us immediately gave us menus the service was insane. Was actually kind of annoying they must've come I kid you not at least 10 times during our hour-long visit I'm starting to wonder if they were just marveling that they were white people in there or looking at my girlfriends beautiful breasts. Either way in the lamb shank was delicious the rice was great we don't need any bread. They were very accommodating of again the gluten-free allergy and brightest carrots to dip in the hummus versus bread. We did the check an offer and got hooked up with free ice cream and it was amazing love the rose Rauder and also love the chocolate. We will come back soon.

There are so many better options for similar restaurants in the area. This place is so inconsistent. On our last visit, (memorial day weekend) we had a party of 24 people (reservation made well ahead of time) and for some reason they split our party into two tables...not sure who dropped the ball on that one. There was an open table that would have been better suited for us but we were told "it was reserved"...it wasn't. There was no manager in sight BUT he did make a special appearance as we were leaving...CUSTOMER SERVICE FOLKS! The meat was not cooked well. Overall, disappointing experience. I am very understanding and patient when a restaurant is busy...but we were only large party there at the time with the addition of a few other smaller parties. Needless to say, it never has been and never will be my first choice for a restaurant or venue.

I came here earlier today with my boyfriend. The service was great! Everyone was so nice and quick to help us or answer any questions. The food was also good. Large portions. I had a lamb stew and hummus with carrots. They were very accommodating to my gluten allergies by bringing carrots instead of pita bread so I could eat the hummus! For dessert I had the chocolate and raspberry ice cream. SO YUMMY. To die for. And the plate was decorated with so much thought. Definitely check in here for the free dessert ;) overall I was very satisfied.

I was referred here by a cousin and was incredibly excited to try it out. Being persian myself, I love finding new persian places to eat at. Sadly i was greatly disappointed. The food was ok. The service however is why this place got 1 star. Its Tuesday afternoon, there is only one table with customers, yet it took the server over 10 min to even get our drink order. We were given bread and then ignored while a party that came in after us was sat and served. Our waiter seemed to really not care at all about us. This emtire experience was incredibly disappointing. With so many Persian restaurants in the area there is absolutely no reason to come back here.

  • Alex M.

First of all, I have been coming here since I have been 12 years old. The last few years the customer service had diminished and I did not want to come back. I heard there was a new owner in town and decided to give it a shot. The service was spectacular; Victor and Rodrigo were tremendous, quick, and professional. The owner found out it was a first time for my guests and brought out some desert (see picture). Must go for kebab in the Valley!

  • Deepa T.

As usual, another amazing Persian/Armenian place . This one is definitely in competition with Raffis. I went for a work lunch, it was calm and amazing!!! We got served persian tacos, a mix of mexican and persian style, a delight for meat lovers. But of course I must write about the vegetarian options. THERE IS A WHOLE LIST OF THEM.. I had the Lamjoo Lunch, it was awesome, the lentil soup very good. The hummus was also very good. LOTS OF Vegetarian options, you must go. Keep in mind the prices are very good, a little better than Raffis.. SO GO TREAT YOURSELF...

Delivered wrong items. Promised to return with right items, but never showed. Called back and employee yelled at me. Said I was wrong. On top of that, overpriced entrees are mostly rice. It's very expensive for mostly rice. You can do better. Keep looking.

Excellent food! Excellent service! Thank you Victor for always making our dining experience pleasurable. Favorite dishes: tadik with gourmet sabzi, beef sultani and chicken barg! Get the shirazi salad in place of half the rice for a delicious healthy alternative!

Place is empty cause these people want to penny pinch for everything. I just wanted to get a Greek salad rather than house and want to charge a whole new salad. Get home to find my food freezing and the filet of fish was dry Waitress just standing there completely clueless. This is what I get as a Persian trying to give my business to my peeps...

    1. Really delicious clean food. Persian salad was amazing , cilantro rice was great. The kabobs were perfectly tender and juicy. The portions were pretty big but since it was delicious in bad no left overs. 2. The service was great. We gi tvaat down in an awesome outdoor table and Shapour our waiter really pleasant and helpful with the menu. Gave us the free desert for checking in and even bought us some fruit. He made the experience a 5 star experience. Thanks Shapour!

She always makes sure our order is correct and hot. I definitely recommend Shiraz to anyone craving kabob.. And make sure to ask for Tina.

I am rating this place for the food and delivery only, not the actual dining experience. I saw this place on grubhub.com and well the food look tempting. I decided to try it. There is a $20 minimum for free delivery, by the prices they offer for one entree you would might as well take it. Wait time took forever! I happen to order through them when it was busy. Delivery time was also pretty bad. If you're offering delivery service make sure you know the place or area. This particular location was not that far from me yet it took them about 30min let alone the dude got lost. Total let down which makes delivery 2 stars. The food was amazing and it made up for the horrible wait time (mind you I was super starving). Entree 1, Boneless Chicken Kabob was delicious, a lot of rice, got a whole pita bread, and a side of grilled tomatoes/green pepper. Entree 2, Koobideh, excellent as well and it was served the same way as the first entree (See Picture). It also came with a side salad in a ziploc bag. Yes you heard that right, ziploc bag. The drawback of this was there was too many rice in both of the entrees and no hummus was provided. However, the food was great including the rice so I let it pass. (4 stars) Overall, for the price I wouldn't recommend it much since you can find other Mediterranean places for a cheaper price but since the food is good it's okay to splurge once in a while.

I always buy the chelokebab, it's my favorite dish and shiraz gets it perfect. Best Persian cuisine in the area. Most lunch specials are excellent and customer service is top notch. Tina the cashier for the to go's always gets it right, and she gives the best service.

If you are considering throwing a party, look no further than Shiraz. Their banquet facilities, food, and service will make your event a great one. We just had a party of over 140 people here and they accommodated us by giving us the first floor and moving the restaurant to the second for the night. I know there are other banquet halls in the area that I could of booked, but none have the quality of food that Shiraz offers. Moreover, I saved at least 30% over other exorbitantly expensive banquet halls in the area which in this economy is always a plus. Bear in mind, they do not serve alcohol, but they recommended a couple of places where we bought our alcohol cheap and they served it for us without a corking fee, thus saving us even more money. They did everything they had promised plus more. The management and waitstaff were very courteous and professional both to me and my guests. My guests have been calling me since and complimenting how great the food and service was. Thanks guys for making my event a pleasant one to remember.

We came here for Mother's Day and we were blessed to have Afarin as our waitress. She is absolutely the best! She is very professional, quick, humble and always smiling. It's rare to find a restaurant with a warm and friendly environment and that's due to the service staff. This restaurant has been a family hotspot for us since I could remember and since Brian (The manager) took over about a year ago this restaurant has been getting better with every visit.

Was at Shiraz again with a large group last night and the food is indeed very good as it always is, with large portions served for a decent price. Server was very patient with the large group and our personalities, and the belly dancer and music kept the place rocking. A very enjoyable evening overall. However two comments: 1. During the early part of the evening before the entertainment started, children were playing in the dining room and running amok, playing hide and seek and screaming loudly. Now I like kids as much as anyone, but this is over the top, and the restaurant management did not compensate for bad parenting by the customers who had no class at all. Other customers were constantly stopping the kids from running and screaming but the kids went right back to running and screaming Unacceptable! Was no manager present to stop this? We asked the server but no manager every appeared. 2. Liquor is no longer sold on the premises and the server explained that it was a decision on the part of the owner. What, a religious conversion? However, the restaurant allows customers to bring in their own liquor, which some of us went out and purchased and returned with. Don't think I will return here. When I have a hankering for Persian Food, Olive Branch is nearer to home and their Fessenjon is better.

So nice to have another excellent persian restaurant in the area! Nader was our server and he was awesome- really went out of his way for us. The beef Saltani was really good quality. I'm looking forward to coming back for some belly dancing! Who does that?! So cool.

I am a big fan of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food so when my dad brought me here, I had high expectations. And indeed, this place exceeded my expectations! Parking is valet and I think that's the only option. One of the reasons why I give this restaurant five stars is because the attention the waiters and servers give you is exceptional. You cannot complain. From taking your order carefully and patiently, to constantly refilling your drinks, and checking up on you continuously, it's just perfect. Our waiter even gave us a special for free. GOD BLESS THIS YOUNG BOY. All of our three waiters/servers were very kind and friendly. The food comes out quickly, waiting is about 10 to 15 minutes. The taste of the food is great, juicy and tender- the meat will melt in your mouth. I can speak for all the kabobs- beef, chicken, fish, and lamb. The rice is on point, like really on point, and so are the grilled veggies. Portions are so huge. Finishing your plate will be a long goal. I really like the pita bread here. It's fluffy and soft, you can also open it to put in all your fillings unlike other pita breads from other places. Shiraz's prices are just like your typical Persian restaurants, but don't ask, you are putting some bomb filet mignon inside your mouth! This place is definitely on my top favorites. Competition with my #1 favorite, Raffi's Place, located on Brand also in Glendale. I recommend this place to everyone, it's just that delicious!

The food was decent, and they had large portions, but the service was terrible! We had a large group of 10 people, but the waiters would give us our food and not come back for another 20 minutes. Meanwhile we tried to flag them down to help refill our waters, other drinks, and sauces. We ended staying there over 3 hours just because of the extremely slow service. Overall I would not come back here unless I want to spend 3 hours on a dinner.

I was hungry and was craving for some Mediterranean food and went on yelp and decided to come to this place. First when I walked in I felt undressed and the vibe was incredible. I tried food and the taste was incredible and loved the atmosphere. They should see me more often! A really great place to go out and dine in.

I was so disappointed with this place. The food lacked flavor, staff was very slow and dead. Our food took FOREVER to come out. My rice had no taste what so ever I had to put a mountain of salt and butter to add flavor. The meat was over cooked and the chicken had a weird taste to it.

My cousin held her son's birthday party here. In Korean culture, the baby's 1st birthday party is called a dol. It's a real big deal. Depending on the effort you put into it, it could be on the scale of a wedding. So yes, we had a Korean party in an Armenian restaurant. She rented out the whole place minus the outside patio. Ample space for seating, a little stage, a little room where the photobooth was, of course DELICIOUS armenian food! Lots of appetizers before we sat down. Most noteable was the eggplant hummus. I'm not sure if it's considered hummus, but I ate it like it was. Scooped it up and planted it in my little pita pocket. NOMZ! Kabobs were bomb diggity too :)

The food is far from authentic persian and if you go there or if you ordering out beware of stupid hidden charges . If you in Glendale just stick with rafi.

Horrible customer service. It almost took them 15 mins to give us a slice of lemon ! but when we asked for the Check it was right on our table after 15 secs . Both Kobideh and Barg Kababs were dry and overcooked . Rice was sticky and smelled weired. Lamb shank tasted like plastic !

Service: 5 stars, waitress Leila was extremely professional, polite and kind. Food: 0 stars, as the $18 chicken without bone, was not cooked properly and most of it was raw inside. Just hoping not to be food poisoned. Dancer: if you like that sort of thing, they do have a half nude belly dancer. Enjoy

I really dont recommend to have your party in this resturant , the managers are so nasty and they dont care about your reservation. Last time i had a surprise party they forget to make my table ready and when my 18 geusts came the resturant was so busy and there was not a free table inside, and the manager just said i am sorry i have no table available. i did the reservation 25 days before the Party. and i had a very very hard time with service that night. my guests were uncomfortable ouside becouse of cold weather and my Party went bad. also at the end they over charged me alot of food and drinks. we payed 20$ tip to our waiter to give us atleast a good service , butttt unfortunatly he get the money and never came around. always check your reciept if u go there. i dont recommend and will never have party over there again. soooo embarressing for me . Artin is the rudest manager i ever talk.

Really nice place to eat. Can eat either inside or outside. I chose outside. Food was in large portions. Pretty pricey though. Felt like I was eating forever. Then even had a lot to take home an was eating forever again. Lol...."...food was ok. Not really a big Persian food eater. Was just giving it a shot. Place was clean. Exotic atmosphere outside. Pretty basic inside.

Huge portions, especially the rice. It was great to select what could be added to the rice, but there is a $3 charge. Khoresh ghormesabzie (traditional stew with vegetables and lamb shank in herb sauce) was very tasty. We will return to try other dishes.

Many thanks to shiraz restaurant for the tasty food and lovely service . Me and my lovely spouse went to Shiraz restaurant , eventho they dont have alcohol but they did let us have our own drink . Our waiter Mr Nader served us with lots of smile and respect , he is the best . I totally suggest this restaurant if you crave for kabob :)

Shiraz is the best and only Persian restaurant I'll eat at in Glendale. Especially compared to raffis. Raffis sucks.

I've been to many kabob places in Glendale but this place has the best food I've ever tasted. I'm persian and I love to eat kabob and persian food and honestly this is the best. Kabobs are very fresh and juicy. It smells and tastes great. In my opinion, it's the closest taste that one can get to kabobs in Iran.

Had to pick up food for the family, everything was on point and Tina made sure our food was ready quick and on time. She was very nice and made sure everything was correct with our order (I have a lot of customizations). The koobideh was EXCELLENT and the customer service was exceptional! This has become my new spot for Persian cuisine, you can't beat the service!

Okay, here's Shiraz's best kept secret: you can take your own wine, and if you tell them Leo sent you they won't charge a corkage fee. Okay, kidding - there's no Leo, just ask nicely and you shouldn't have to pay anything. Shiraz has changed a number of different ways since I started going there years and years and years ago.... There was major remodeling a while back which helped transfer the interior from a typical sad looking banquet hall type cliché of a middle eastern restaurant to a brighter, more modern and slightly less sad looking one! The outside patio was also expanded - there used to be a cute little fish pond that they got rid of which robbed the place of its charm a little bit, but I soon got used to its absence. Food was, and still is outstanding: a variety of delicious middle eastern appetizers, kabob dishes and various stews served in huge portions - all pretty much up there with Raffi's Place. At one point I think they changed management or kitchen staff and things started heading south but it was thankfully quickly corrected. Prices are not low but not entirely unreasonable either - the quality is certainly there to justify the $$'s. Service was and still can be a touch inconsistent - servers have always been very pleasant and friendly, but if busy, it might be more difficult to get their attention. Surprisingly, the food tends to arrive pretty damn quickly - which is great. The live music and belly dancing at the weekends can be enjoyable or annoying depending on how close you are sitting to the action, and whether you're into that sort of thing. It's not exactly topnotch entertainment - but okay for what it is. The only thing I haven't liked is that their very nice large free parking lot suddenly became valet - but I suspect with time I will get used to that too. Overall I love this place. Next time Obama is in town he should try it - might just provide a boost to the on-going nuclear negotiations!

Stopped by for lentil soup, which is really good. It took 30 minutes for my to-go order. Also ordered dolmeh-which as a to-go item were a disappointment. Hot, with cold yogurt and tomatoes. Said there were 8 in an order, when there were only 6. Ugly looking and should not have been thrown in the same container. There was no bread, pita, croutons provided for the soup. I was bummed having spent almost $40, so I called. Oddly, after holding for several minutes Adam came back on the phone, telling me that if I wanted to, I could drive back to have my card credited for the dolmeh. At 9pm I'm not so interested in driving there and home for a $7.00 credit. When I hung up, I felt sad, because the opportunity to gain a loyal customer was missed by Shiraz.

  • Pierro B.

The place is a hit or miss. I go to Raffi's more often, but will go here when there's an event. I was impressed this last time I went for a birthday. It was a lot of fun and the chicken and fried Tilapia was excellent (I wasn't too fond of the luleh). I guess they have live music now, which is nice. The singer was not bad. When I have a choice between Raffi's and Shiraz I usually go with Raffis. But if the food keeps up maybe I'll start coming here again since the wait gets pretty ridiculous at Raffi's.

So this place is all bs!!!! I was the chef here about one month ago or so, I quit because they are so unsanitary, are not even close to health department standards, and do nasty things when is come to peeping the food. The owner Mario and Majid will go behind the line when we would be cooking stick there fingers in the pot taste the food and use the same finger and try it again along with whatever els in cooking!! I tried to change that place but had no lick plus they rob all the employees when it comes to pay.!!!! Including myself I will be back with more details!!!! And pictures of the log they kept!!!!!!

we went to shiraz restaurant on Sunday with my family. we ordered boneless chicken and chicken kabob and shish kabob. it was very good ! fresh out of the kitchen and hot and it got to our table as soon as we ordered. the place is nice and it is for families as well as for business or social meetings and also anniversaries/ birthday parties. our server was AFARIN. she was very sweet and nice and she took care of our table and the manager Bryon checked our table several times. i definitely recommend this place to everyone !

    (5)
  • Tommy W.

Bryon, the GM, was an amazing host! He was there to greet us as we entered the restaurant and then made sure we had the best service in town. FYI, Shiraz makes everything from scratch IN HOUSE - and it shows. I have never had better hummus than I had here. Amazing. Plus, the entertainment was great too! The belly dancer on Saturday night was awesome and danced with anyone who wanted. It was an all around great evening and one that I hope to repeat soon.

Went there with the family sat at a table for 15 minutes after being seated by the hostess....no sign of a server, we asked the hostess to get our server and she half heartedly said ok...another 10 minutes and still no waiter not even to bring a glass of water...after wasting 25 minutes sitting there we got up and went else where... SERVICE SUCKED...hostess is half asleep on the job

We just had a private birthday party of 50+ people on the second floor banquet hall. The food was excellent. The service and set up was very good. It just feels great when you throw a party all your guests give good comments on the food. The manager (Farhad) was very professional and very helpful. I don't give 5 just because I want to save it for the future.

The quality of the food here is top notch. The dolma is the best I've ever had hands down. They have a robust and unique coffee that suprised me. The wait staff is attentive without being bothersome and the ambiance is relaxed yet upscale. Highly reccomend the lamb shank!

  • Vi D.

Sorry Shiraz but you disappointed me. Had the worse experience because our waitress was rude! She had no smile, did not welcome us and when we got our appetizers... She literally banged it on to the table. RUDE!! Second of all, my friend was still in the middle of eating and she took her plate away. RUDE, I SWEAR!!! The rice was bland and hard! The meat had an after taste! Ugh :( Tip.. If you're craving for Persian/Iranian/Mediterranean food, go to RAFFI'S.

  • Mister M.

I went back to Shiraz this pass Saturday. I haven't gone here in a long time. I ordered the boneless chicken and the chicken is prepared and cooked differently now. I was very disappointed. Before the chicken was more pink looking and it had more flavor. From what i recall, it had this really tasty and punchy lemony flavor. That's all. I'm a little disappointed. The service is still very nice, but now the chicken is made just like the restaurant near my house, so I might as well just go eat there now. No need to drive all the way to Glendale now.

Shiraz is a good as it gets. Wish there were more stars available. Went there this weekend with friends. Every restaurant starts with the food. This was beyond any expectation. Every single item was perfect. The various sides, of which there were many, were fantastic. along with the usual hummas and tabuli, were a couple of eggplant based dishes that were out of this world delicious. The Kabobs were fantastic. We ordered an assortment. Again some were the normal kabobs you would find at any bistro of this cuisine and they were great, but we also had Filet Mignon Kabobs and Cornish Game Hen Kabobs!!. Wow... fantastic. There were of course vegetarian Kabobs, and all sorts of grill veggies. One of our party had the white fish, and raved about it. The mid-east staple of basmati rice was done perfectly. All flavors were solid, never over the top with spices, but subtle and delicious. Along with the beautifully made deserts this was one of the most memorable dinners ever. By the way...go hungry... the food is not only good, but plentiful. Okay, by now you know the food was tops... but lets move on. The manager Bryon, was so gracious, and cordial. Took perfect care of all our needs. Never met anyone better. Our server, and all the assistant servers we totally professional, pleasant, and displayed a real pride in knowing they were serving the best food around. And of course the entertainment was great. There was a keyboard player and singer whose repertoire extended into all styles and sorts of music, Italian, and Spanish as well as the great middle eastern songs that garnered applause and some great dancing. Finally, since I mentioned dancing. Olivia, the Belly Dancer, was fantastic. She entertained both adults and children alike. Besides having amazing technique as a dancer she was amiable and great fun. And by the way, beautiful. So, to summarize. Great food, great service, great entertainment. all in all a great evening for families, or friends.. come hungry go home happy HM

Great food and the portions were large enough to take home some for lunch. I had the mahi mahi kabobs and the fiance had beef kabobs. Pretty tasty. The room was cavernous and clearly set up for banquets. Service was attentive and pleasant, and we got a real kick out of the lounge act playing for entertainment on a Sunday night. Mostly elevator music, and when he busted out Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea" we knew we had stumbled on a kitschy corner of Glendale. All in all a superior experience for what it is.

  • Monica L.

Ive only ever been here for business meetings/dinner/parties. And I must say, i love the food. It is a tad bit on the priceyyy side, but I mean - you do get what you pay for. They have performances in the evening too. My latest visit, a belly dancer went around the restaurant, and there was a DJ. It was fun - I enjoyed it. As for the food itself, the plates are massive. I suggest getting a place between 2 or 3 people. YES, there is THAT much food on one plate. I always ended up getting the chicken, but i've tried a good amount of other items on the menu, and I can't complain about any of it. SIDE NOTE: MY POPS IS IN LOVE WITH THE LONG GRAIN RICE they use.

Just an ordinary dinner night at Shiraz, this place never fails to disappoint. The food as usual is amazing and the service is just awesome. Great food, great service. First time here, I was impressed with the Koobideh & rice. The cheesecake dessert was good, and the free fruit plate at the end was a nice touch :) parking could be a hassle unless you park valet. We parked on the street. I will be back.

I'm FREEZING!!! I came here last night for a holiday dinner with some friends and it was FREEZING! I didn't take off my scarf nor my jacket because I was shaking from being so cold there. AND we sat in the back of the nicely decorated Persian restaurant, which had chandilers and pretty painted pictures. I got to say that the place was probably the fanciest Persian restaurant I've ever been too. Although I freezed my butt off here, I did enjoy my juicy, and YUMMY Boneless Chicken Kebob with that delicious rice. For the longest time I didn't know what to do with that butter and onions Persian restaurants always give, and I finally figured out that you're suppose to mix it with your rice. OHHHH! Yeah.. I felt kind of dumb. And that hummus.. or HOMOUS (that's how they spell it), was pretty damn good. My breath still smells pretty garlicy. And thats when you know it's pretty damn good. Too bad I can't really talk to anyone close up though without giving them a sour face. Another thing I noticed was that this place was SO empty for a LARGE, fancy restaurant. Kind of weird, considering it's a weekend night. But maybe it's because it's like the North Pole in there. And if it wasn't so cold in there, I would have given this place 4 stars. Oh yeah.. service is alright like everyone said. And the music is pretty loud. It's kind of weird, because the decorations give off the fancy, fine decor vibe.. while the music throws you off. The pianoist.. or keyboardist, likes to play the American National Anthemn too. I wasn't sure if I should stand up and put my hand over my heart. I think I should have and let my blood circulate my cold body.

I enjoyed the sultani, and many of their delicious salads. But, one thing that will leave me coming back again(other than the food) is the amazing service. My first time there, I got to go and it was very delicious. The prices were fair and I fully enjoyed my meal. They have a huge space so I can imagine the upstairs ballroom being pretty awesome. Their menu is pretty simple and well explained. There's nothing intimidating about dining here and asking about the food items on their menu. I asked for plain yogurt to go with my food and they provided the perfect amount!

I used to love this place. Like, really like it here... But recently, the food has not been up to par. It's not clean either. For anyone who is new to persian food, this is not a good assessment. In fact, I took my beau here oh-so proudly... As I love persian food and I decided that Shiraz would be a reasonable spot to show him what kabobs, koobidehs, and bargs are all about. But I'm terribly upset that I brought him here, since he probably didn't get the best impression. Next time, if there is a next time, I'd rather take him to Raffi's or even Shamshiri right on the otherside. This restaurant is in need of renovations... It's not clean, the food is not very fresh, and I felt uncomfortable inside. Service is decent, but you're paying way too much for the true value of it.

When it comes to kabob in Glendale your options are limitless. But when it comes to GOOD kabob in Glendale you have about 3-5 choices and for me Shiraz takes the cake.. or the kabob so to speak. My family has been ordering from Shiraz for yeeeeears. It's pretty much tradition to order for pick-up from here on my Dad's birthday every year. It's his favorite kabob place. I haven't been to some of the other options in Glendale for a long time so unfortunately I cant really compare, all I can say is I always LOVE the food from Shiraz. The rice is sooooo delicious. I'm pretty sure God himself comes down and creates the rice after every order is placed because that is the only way I can imagine this heavenly rice is created. Most of the time I get the Soltani which is a combination of Beef Barg and Koobideh. You also can't go wrong with Chicken Kabob or Boneless Chicken Kabob. The meats have always been absolutely perfect, never dry and full of flavor. For you non-meat eaters they have some vegetarian options as well. For you pescatarians they also have a small selections of sea food. I haven't tried their sea food yet but I'm thinking of giving their Mahi Mahi kabob a try next. Now if you will excuse me, all this kabob talk has got me hungry. ***EDIT/UPDATE*** Just had the Mahi Mahi kabob... Oh... My.... God. It was absolutely exquisite. Incredibly tender and full of flavor it may just be the best Mahi Mahi dish I have ever had. I think I have to break tradition and start going there more often instead of just on my Dad's birthday!

Whenever we goto the galleria, we have to stop by and eat here. Quantity and quality are pretty much always above par. I'm really into the savory mixture of dissimilar but complimentary favors of the middle east. Case-in-point: The rightfully strong white onions and turnips (hated turnips growing up, but because of this place - can peacefully eat them now) served with basil leaves. Pop a slice of onion in your mouth, chew it and then take a chomp on the basil, it completely kills the sting of the onion. Oh, and then add the Mast o Misir (sp - yogurt and shallots) into the mix and you'll just be amazed of the cultural ingestion you've just partook. mmmm too bad its midnight right now, would like to go experience that right now. Oh yeah and the Koobideh is always good - maybe a bit under cooked for my pallet, but no real complaints. Don't forget to substitute the sharazi salad for a $1.5 more for 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad. Order the iced tea as well, but then ask for sugar cubes. They used to be on the table, but they took them away and have them in the kitchen. For some strange reason, their iced tea with the sugar cubes just makes my day.

Love the food. Great staff. They are very helpful and polite. The cornish hen is by far their beat dish.

Okay, here I go again, jumping on Yelp after a bad experience during a visit to one of my favorite restaurants. Keep in mind this review is mainly directed toward the service. The food is okay. Large portions. Consistency, consistency, consistency--is it too much to ask for? I pick up lunch from this restaurant at least once a month and each time I leave annoyed by something. Last time I watched my order get carried off by someone else, this time it was my order not showing up in the computer and the young man assuring me the order was never placed and that "it's okay, I put in order now, no problem." I reassured him I'm not crazy and heard my wife place the order, but he still denied the call ever happened and with such conviction that I almost believed I dreamt the entire event. After a few minutes of back-and-forth about whether the call was ever placed, he finally walked over to a grumpy old man (probably the owner), asked him something in their native tongue, and was quickly brushed away. He then decided to check with the kitchen to see if they had prepared the order. A few seconds later he appeared with my order in hand and said, "I must be going crazy." Yes, you must be. So my order was packaged and ready to go and all I had to do was pay the bill and be out, but not without my extra bag of pita and two sides of bagged basil, onions & radishes, of course. The same extras I have grown to love when ordering take out from my favorite Persian restaurant. I asked for the extra bread and once again the kid reluctantly ran upstairs and returned with my request. I also asked for the basil and radishes and was given only one bag. I asked for a second and was told since they were lunch orders I shouldn't even be given one and would have to be charged for a second. What you talkin' 'bout Willis? I have been picking up takeout from this place for years and have always received two bags, one for each meal ordered, at no charge. Granted this was a new face (the usual person in charge of takeout always gives me bread and extras), I still didn't appreciate the treatment. I even asked him if he was new and he quickly said no (sure buddy). Anyway, I'm not sure what their takeout lunch policy is or if this new guy is just a stickler for rules, but all I know is that I expect the same service each time I visit and experiences like this always leave a bad taste in my mouth. I still left a tip (because I'm cool like that), grabbed my food (minus one bag of goodies), and returned home to my wife with lunch in hand. Since I'm such a great husband, I let my wife enjoy the 3 radishes she loves to eat with her chicken koobideh and was left radish-less--a small price to pay for her happiness. I'm sure we will continue dining at this restaurant for years to come because we enjoy the food, especially the yogurt soup, but I couldn't resist sharing my recent experience with you all (and hopefully the owner or manager or someone who gives a shit).

Your tastebuds will be amazed! The food is so flavorful and authentic, youll feel like your having lunch in the middle east! The sercive was so fast and everyone was very attentive! They serve you warm pita with a side of fresh basil, onions, raddishes & butter while you wait for your meal. I ordered the family style lunch. It came with 4 giant plates of jasmine rice & grilled tomatoes & 3 differnt kinds of meat. We also ordered a side of hummus and cucumber yogurt dip which were excellent. We recived a free dessert for checking in on our yelp app. The total came for about $60 which was more than reasonable since we even have food leftover to take home! Shapour was our server and he was so kind and helpful. He made sure we had everything we needed and even came by with the owner to crack a few jokes with us. There is a HUGE parking lot in the back. Reservations are not required for lunch, however it does get busy at night. the venue is beautiful and perfect for any event! I cant wait to come back! Merci Shiraz!

Second visit on Sat. 6 July. Awesome. Big portions. Visiting cousin from NJ and I worked hard, ate tons...and I went home with leftovers. Excellent service, light and airy room. Previous visit had been a big Rotary Club dinner with honored visitors from Japan and they loved it, too; big group that night, still great service. Also love the easy parking

Great food (more Armenian than Persian), huge portions, nice extras (we were given shots of watermelon juice and an amuse of delicious lentil soup before ordering) and very friendly, very kind service. Atmosphere is a little dated, and there is NO ALCOHOL -- NO BAR, NO WINE, NO BEER, NOTHING and there hasn't been any, for years, according to our server. The Yelp listing is wrong on this. That was our only disappointment, as we were celebrating a special occasion and hoping for at least a glass of something to toast with. Oh well! Now you know.

Shiraz has been in Glendale for a very long time, and I have been going here for a long time and seen just about the evolution this place has gone through. Parking is either on the street, or out back. Food- You have to be there on a good day, sometimes the meat is very stale and dry and sometimes it is amazing, but it really isn't that bad or good when it comes to it. Quick Tip: Kash-ka-batoom-jan (eggplant dip) even if you are not armenian or persian. You should try this, this is my favorite appetizer and as far as I know, Shiraz is the only place in Glendale that makes it good. I really believe they need to change the quality of the meat they use because like I said its either a hit or miss. Rice needs to change also because it just tastes so generic. Overall, I like this place and wont stop going.

Just wow ... I mean, wow! I think when you grow up with this kind of food, you are very picky when you go out to have something that mom can make better. We were in Glendale to meet family and they took us here. This is huge because my aunt is an amazing cook. After a bunch of Persian back and forth with my cousin and the waitress, I just put my trust that she would know what order. I was right! We first started with some Khoresh ghormesabzire (veggie and herb sauce) and Khoresh fessenjan (pomegranate and walnut sauce) over a crispy rice. This dish reminded me how much I miss my mom. The dish was spot on the way in which it was suppose to taste and fresh beyond belief. We moved on to their "house" salad, Borani badenjan (eggplant, yogurt, sauteed onion, and garlic), and Mast o Khair (yogurt, cucumber, mint and herbs) with fresh, warmed pita bread. If you are a vegetarian, you would not leave this restaurant hungry or unsatisfied. We moved on to the dinner - with kebabs and kubideh of all kinds. I had the Cornish hen kebab which was moist and marinated very well.. All this was followed by tea, fruit and sorbet. Perfect.

Its Not Raffi's Place!!!! The service is amazing!!!!!! They go too overboard with their service, they stare you down until you take a sip out of your cup and they come and fill it up for you. I went here with the family once, and they filled up our cups so much we stopped drinking so they would leave us alone. The food was good too. It is no Raffi's. Its just good, not fantastic! There is a little hall upstairs for events, my sister and I did our birthday there once and it was great. The service was good and the food was good. The cheapest place we could find at that time. Ate here once, had a party once.. Overall an ok place. But its no Raffi's!

If you are in the Glendale area and have the urge for Persian, you cant go wrong here. Its old school Persian inside which is why I prefer the patio. Great kabobs and rice dishes. The portions are large as are most middle eastern restaurants. There are better and more authentic Persian restaurants in West LA but this place does have decent food. Their Persian ice cream is a great way to end the meal.

*****************Outstanding food, service, staff and decor *********** Last night once again Shiraz appealed to all my primary senses, delish food quality and the delightful smells of the hot grilled kabob not to forget the great visionary atmosphere...... the grand design and décor, Italian/Mediterranean wall décor that sticks in my mind forever. My server, Riggio was superb!!! Fast and very friendly, his smile and kind words went a long way. The restaurant was spotless...clean, clean, clean! The lighting is not too harsh; it's definitely soft enough to hide blemishes if you are on a date. The new musician, Razmik Keshishyan played and sang hip hop, Persian, Armenian and Arabic music. I, being none of these decent, I was still overjoyed and was dancing in my chair as I was able to understand some Farsi and Arabic words and I loved Nancy Aaram music. Music here does not have the subliminal effect since it has an authentic ethnic atmosphere, complementing the Persian/Armenian menu. For 2 dinner meals and bottomless Persian tea with usual free bread and sabzi salad and a usual free fruit tray (oranges and strawberries) served with your bill, our bill was $28. This was worth spending my Friday night. It's Saturday and I am still eating the leftovers from Shiraz.. FREE PARKING: Private parking lot in the back of the building on Isabel St off of Harvad. Parking spaces in front of the building facing Glendale Ave is never available since there are prob. only 4 spaces.

How should I start this?? Okay, I've been living in Glendale for 10 plus and for the first time we decide on having lunch at Shiraz. Okay - From the outside you wouldn't even look twice - it is what it is. We walked thru the left side path and end up meeting our host rather quickly - he takes us towards an empty room with one other diner - and I'm thinking, (bad idea). First, we order soup: Ashe Reshte and Ashe Maste. Right away I'm feeling like home. Then we went with our "go to" dishes: Shish Kabob, Koobideh and Adas Polo Rice. The food arrives - presentation looks familiar - everything looks really good - game on. The beef koobideh had a bounce to it - juicy and seasoned just right - one point under Raffi's execution over at Broadway. The adas polo was stunning! The basmati / lentil and date mixture was taken to a whole new level - big flavor and a touch of pungent aromatics kept me coming back for more. Yeah! The 3rd round had me on the ropes - the upper-cut came from the shish kabob plate - no set up with the jab - it was all or nothing at this point. Defined simply astonishing and worthy of attention. Now I'm questioning, Why for so many years I've tried to avoid this place. After the Annaprashana ceremony - I look around and see groups of wise guy Persians and Old school purists gather sporadically. This place is the anti swag crowd - no hash tags - no retweets - no Holly(weird). Strictly face to face conversations, hand gestures, Turkish coffee and baklava, orange slices and fresh strawberries. I'm feeling rather kingly right now. Thank you very much. (5.5 stars)

Ordered take out through Grub Hub. 2 hours later and my food is still not here. Called twice inquiring about my order and got serious attitude. WILL NEVER EVER ORDER FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE

Food was really good. Worth the 2h wait caused by inept delivery person. I ordered for delivery via the grubhub website. I had the albaloo polo with chicken kebab, khoresh loobia, dolmeh and baklava. Every item was cooked to perfection and deliciously flavored. However the delivery guy took over 2h to get to my place 4 miles away in East Hollywood on a Saturday evening. He arrived understandably in a huff claiming there was traffic on the 5. I've driven to Glendale many times and it's never taken me more than 15-20min via Fountain/Hyperion. I'll be sure to include detailed directions the next time I order!

I love this place! It is one of my favorite restaurants. And it is definitely the best middle eastern food! I come here all the time with my family because the food is so delicious. If you come for the lunch specials, you definitely get your money's worth! The lunch special comes with a soup or salad, a lunch portion entree with lots of tasty rice, and after your meal they bring some oranges and strawberries for dessert. I always get the boneless chicken kabob meal because I don't eat beef, but my family eats beef and they all tell me the koobideh of beef is the best beef dish. The dessert here is great too! My favorites are the mango ones...the mango sorbet, the mango cake, and the coconut mango. Last but not least, the owner, Brian, is super friendly and nice. He always makes my visits here such a pleasure! Great food and great customer service by Brian make this place a weekly lunch spot for me.

I headed up to Glendale last week to meet with a few of my grad school buddies for some Persian food. After driving past a dozen kabob places I finally spotted Shiraz. The restaurant decor is pretty nice indoors in addition to a huge patio seating area. I spotted my two buddies and they were already digging into the homus and Borani Badenjan . Both of those alone made it worth the drive up through downtown LA traffic! My Persian buddy recommended that we go for the mixed plate koobideh (one chicken and one beef) for our entrees. You can also substitute your regular rice for a "fancy" rice. I went with the and my two other buddies got the Bahali Polo (which rice with dill in it) and the Albaloo Polo (rice with something similar to cherries in it - makes your rice all pretty and pink). I subbed mine with Zereshk Polo. All the fancy rice sides were amazingly delicious. It definitely brought out the different spices of the koobideh, balancing the savory with the sweet. The portions were ridiculous at this place! I barely dented my entree as it pretty much feeds a small village. For dessert, they came with this beautiful arrangement of fruit on a plate. I thought only the Chinese served fruit for dessert! They were perfectly rice and plentiful for the three of us. Service was on point here. The waiters were attentive and my iced tea never got below the half-way point. I've been to other Persian restaurants before, but this one definitely ranks up there. Besides, you can stop off at Porto's 4 miles away and pick up a dozen potato balls for the ride home!

I've been so disappointed with Raffi's Place lately, particularly their poor (almost non existent) table service. I've eaten at Shiraz three times now and it is now my favorite kabob place in LA. You won't find more succulent and tender kabobs anywhere! Absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is more calming here too, which would explain the better service. Skip the weekend circus at Raffi's Place and head to Shiraz instead. I haven't been disappointed since.

The 5 stars just says it all!!! Whenever my wife & I, and probably when our 8 YO starts liking Middle Eastern food, always get our cravings satisfied at Shiraz. We've been coming here for 20 yrs. The placed has changed a lot- more upsacle now inside; the sumac is now in individual packets- but the food has not. She likes the lule kabob (?? ground meat) and the cucumber with yogurt (Mast something) and I like the filet kabob with borani. The borani itself is the best I've had. Perfect with the pita bread as appetizer and with the kabob. And the rice! I normally like to eat rice with some soup but in itself and the roasted tomatoes...amazing. And now they have polo dishes at $9.99- even though it's chicken. We like the baghali polo's rice and llima beans with beef shank which is a little more but always worth it.

Most favorite kabob place for a very long time. Meats and salads have always been very tasty but the true test was the RICE. Most other kabob places, their rice always smells weird, like it was made in a very old and dirty pot. But not this place! The rice tastes RIGHT. It's great to also see a place that will substitute stuff like regular rice for the berry rice or half rice, half shiraz' salad. Options are always a plus. The only thing I'm a little sad about is they don't have that amazing persian pickled relish anymore on the menu. I want that back! ; ]

  • Michael Kay K.

Alright so I got to Raffi's down the street for Kabob (better in my opinion) but I come to Shiraz when I feel like some of that bomb diggity persian food. From ghromeh sabzi, to bomyeh and ashreshteh to kashkeh bodemjan it's all the amazing. But, they should really update the place as far as the look (inside and outside) goes. I think they are lacking on clientele a bit because of it. I'd give them 5 stars if they just put some effort in that. Great food though, you will not be dissatisfied.

Shiraz Restaurant in Glendale is a terrific place to get your fix of Persian and other Middle Eastern delicacies. The indoor dining are is clean, comfortable, and spacious. There's also a nice patio dining area. The menu has all the usual Persian and Arabic appetizer favorites: Hummus, eggplant dips, Shirazi salad, pickled veggies, etc. The entrees include soltani kebab, barg of beef, barg of lamb (my favorite!), and beef and chicken koobideh. All entrees are served atop an mountain of wonderful basmati rice. The portions at Shiraz are generous. The prices at Shiraz are quite reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the offerings.

I have been in all middle eastern/Persian restaurants in southern California many are good some are just average .I have been in Shiraz many times in past 12 years and this is my finding: Shiraz in Glendale is one of the best overall. I've been here many times- usually for graduation parties and memorial services- most recently, my mom and I were here yesterday for my birthday lunch. We always get the same thing when we go- luleh kabob- and we really like it, but yesterday both of us decided to try something new. My mom got the Borahni (I think it's called) and I got the Chicken Kabob Barg. My mom really liked the Borahni, and I thought that my order was pretty good as well. I tasted a little bit of the Borahni and it was pretty okay, but I would have to say that I like the one that my mom makes at home a little better. My chicken kabob barg was good, however, the only problem that I had with it was that it was lacking salt and as a result it tasted very bland. I constantly had to put salt on it, but it continued to taste very bland, this came to me as quite a "shock", I guess you can say, because I had tried the same thing at my aunt's memorial service last year and it had tasted very flavorful and yummy. Continuing on, I really liked the barbecued tomato that came with my order and the barbecued pepper was okay (I've had better), I also really liked the rice, it had a somewhat unique taste- quite interesting. Besides the food, other things that draw us to the restaurant are the decor, nice/comfortable outside seating, and in general the venue. My mom also likes the Persian music that they play, but most importantly we both like the service that they provide--- the waiters are very kind and attentive. Anyhow, we like this place very much and I would definitely recommend it for people to try! Oh and one more thing, refills for soft drinks are free! (at least for my Coke it was, I don't know if it's only for soft drinks or all types, ask!)

I've been a customer for about 13 years and this past few times I've went to Shiraz their food quality has dropped a lot of points in my book, as well as their customer service. And whoever answers the phone needs to learn how to properly speak English. When I realized I was given wrong info, so I called back to get it straightened out and the guy over the phone had the NERVE To tell me otherwise. THEY OBVIOUSLY DON'T PUT CUSTOMERS FIRST like other businesses I know. If People want good Iranian food message me ill give you a few good places with great customer service! I've held out from writing a good review I gave them a few chances but that phone call just did it for me. It disappoints me for being a customer for so long and in the end to be treated the way I was pissed me off. To the owners: please hire people who can speak proper English if u want ur business to succeed and bring the old cook back!

Shiraz is cool, my friend has his 21st birthday here on the top floor, rented the whole place out, had a DJ and the food and all that great stuff was provided by them, I'm not sure how much the whole thing cost them or w.e but I know for a fact it hit a dent in the wallet, its not a cheap place. Food was OK, nothing great, I eat kabobs all the time this was a little to the worst side at best in the middle...you guys already know where i FREAKING love to eat kabob's, if you don't ask me ill tell ya in a heartbeat! It even had a little dance floor and a DJ booth all set up in the far right corner of the floor...oh and the rugs were very cheesy as if it had been there for centuries with a disgusting old design...they need to remodel the place paint it up do something it looks like a vintage attic shop! Oh well. 3-Stars it is... TFR

Ridiculously good food for the price. I couldn't decide between the salmon (regular menu) and the trout (daily special) so I ordered them both and my friend and I split. The trout was only $9 and it came w/ a mountain of WONDERFUL rice....We also had the hummus, which was reallllyyyyy garlicky (so good!). I left completely stuffed. This is a family joint - one server, so not the place to go if you're in a rush. Also they had some live music the night I went. The singer was good, but his choice of music seemed a little mournful - I felt like I was at a middle eastern funeral....

A+ Restaurant * Delicious food * Generous portions * Great service (our waiter went above and beyond) * Live Music and Belly Dancing * True persian atmosphere All you people, you gotta come to this place! I can't believe I've driven by for years and not stopped in. (if you're driving by at night the partially lit neon sign that daylights as Shiraz Cocktails reads, "z Cock" at night. I had the Khoresh Ghormehzabsi (delicious lamb/herb stew over rice) The chicken kebob was moist/delicious, the rice was perfect. Works for intimate dates but I really recommend this restaurant for groups. Dresscode: Friday/Weekends are semi-formal, but otherwise casual.

The dinners served to my friend and I were pretty good. However, even though the Yelp listing for Shiraz reports "full bar", we were informed by our waiter that they do not sell alcohol at all. Period. No explanation as to why they list "full bar". So we ordered two Perriers, and they didn't even bother to open the plastic bottles for us! When we left, we had to walk through a dark patio with not one light on. As I said, the food was pretty good, but there are too many Persian restaurants to go back to this one. Sorry, Shiraz, I live in the neighborhood and I really wanted to like you, but I'm afraid it just didnt work out that way.

On Valentine's Day the bf and I wanted to go out somewhere simple for a casual night out--nothing fancy. I thought of an Irish Pub with some music. I called one place but it was out of business so I looked online and picked Shiraz as it had a belly-dancer for entertainment. We thought that would be fun. We were seated right in front of Razmik's speakers as he was playing his MIDI system or whatever... goofy music, but entertaining anyway. Then our meal came. We shared a chicken/ pomegranate/walnut stew. It was really interesting and flavorful. Not too much and didn't want two huge meals. I will say that the wait service we received was notably fantastic! I was surprised. Tons of people in the place celebrating all sorts of events: birthday, Vday, dates, etc. Then, the belly dancer arrives on the scene. The music and dancing was great. Some 85 year old man was groping her boobs and no one seemed to mind...very strange. Had a nice time though. Took a long time to get the bill, but they were busy, so we let it go.

This place is great! I got a VERY filling and tasty lunch for $10. Had the ground meat kabob and the soup. The soup had a very interesting taste. Made with loads of cucumbers I'm sure. The ground meat had great flavor as well. The service was great too. Very attentive and friendly. Its a shame I don't get to Glendale that often.

Shiraz is a great place to eat for lunch. Yesterday I had lamb kabobs. They were great! I almost ate all of the meat and rice. They put a huge mountain of rice and a grilled tomato. The tomato was warm and juicy. And the rice.. Oh my gosh it was so good. I loved the food. The employees were different. They are calm when you tell them that there's a mistake. She said, "Oh, we might have made a mistake. Let me fix that for you." Other waiters look kinda annoyed when they hear that. Anyway.. the food there is great and the waiters and waitresses are, too.

Maybe I got spoiled by my Persian boyfriend's mom or Javan in Santa Monica, but my veggie stew was not very good. The rice, as is always the case at every Persian restaurant I've been to, was amazing, though. I also wish they served lavash instead of pita at the start of the meal. Service was good.

If I had to choose between Shiraz and Raffis place...I go with Shiraz... I don't go to kebob places very often because I have it at home all the time. Nothing beats a beef koobideh, and Shiraz prepares it well. I hate it when restaurants over cook the meat leaving the kebob dry. Shiraz does a great job of cooking just enough to let the meat remain nice and juicy. When you get your plate take a 1 or 2 of the pre wrapped butters and melt it in the steamy rice, then take the grilled tomato and smash half of it into the rice (mix thoroughly), finally sprinkle some somakh on top and you are ready to go!

Belly Dancing, melt in your mouth seafood, and good wine...... that pretty much sums up my last visit to Shiraz. Unfortunately I hadn't had the chance to get back here since their persian new years celebration. Yet whenever I dream about belly dancers or fish my mouth will start salivating and I wake up in a cold sweat. "not for the belly dancers but for the food.... :)" Yet somehow it's always 3AM and they're not open. Last night I had the chance to go back with Letitia W. and Julianne L. Shiraz let us down big time :(. Two of us ordered the Sabzi Mahi. Julianne had a little cold and thought that the food tasted bland because of her cold, but I did not have a cold and the Mahi was really bland and boring. I think they forgot to use salt...... The rice tasted slightly old, the herbs in it weren't fresh, and the fish was over cooked and dry. Letitia ordered a different fish dish which was flavored much better then our Sabzi, however it was also slightly dry. BOOOO I was so disappointed I asked our server if they changed chefs, he said "no we've had the same chef for 12 years." I will give them a few months to improve things, hopefully some one there checks yelp and will get to the bottom of what's going on in their kitchen. I also saw that their health rating was lowered from A to B. The server was great and the patio was nice and quiet, but I'll be looking for another go to place for my Sabzi for the time being. Shiraz's food is still good but in my opinion this time around it was 3 stars good not 5. At least now I can dream about ice cream again, instead of belly dancing fish...

Boneless Chicken is the tenderest of all Persian joints I've been. Tried the lamb kabob for first time today and it was equally tender and delicious. The khoubideh is very flavorful and juicy too! The service can use a little work, but the food is what we come for :)

If ever these guys can get the order right, it'll be the day. Good food but service horrible. Get it fixed man.

The food here is ultra tasty, the portions are more than adequate, I love the almost corny decor, and the classic Mediterranean keyboard-party music playing while you eat makes for great atmosphere. Oh, the multi-colored light setup on the patio at night is the most tacky-awesome thing ever. Note that its a slightly formal joint on Friday, Saturday, and especially Sunday nights. Go here for a little variety from the normal, sushi, cheesecake factory, P.F. Chang's you might normally go to. Mahi Mahi 'kebob' platter - cooked perfectly, great flavor Shrimp 'kebob' platter - great garlic flavor, cooked just right I love the pita, radish, butter, onion, & mint leaves they give you when you sit down also. I've had the other kebobs before like the beef and kubideh and they cook them perfectly. Go here!

I love the food here. They have the best meats and cook them to perfection. However, the food is only as the service. Although we had a group of 10, the place was empty (only 2 families including us). I have been there with much better service when it was packed. I cant stand restaurants that have great food, but have crappy service.

I had a craving for chicken kebob. The guy who took my phone order was so nice. When I got there, I got my food right away and he was so nice throughout the whole process. I used to go to Raffy's, but they don't have the customer service skills like Shiraz. I will be back thanks to the young man who took my order. Thank you Shiraz.

Wonderful persian cuisine; I've been going there for 13 years. Try the koobedeh kabob if you want the standard meat kabob. The Fessanjan is excellent (its made of pomagranate , oil, and crushed walnuts and its a sauce you eat with the rice usually), as is the gormet sabsi. OH!!! And the cherry rice (I forgot the name); its SO good. For an appetizer, try the yogurt dip with the cucumber and dill; eat it with the bread, and then mix it with your hot food; hot foods with cool yogurt; everything tastes better with a little yogurt.

now, I'm a fan of Raffi's, but I really rate Shiraz highly. The chicken kabob is juicy. My grilled tomato is excellent. But do yourself a favor and don't miss the soup (it's got some yogurt or something in it), and get the tadik (burnt rice) w/ the stew on top that's got pomegranate in it (I think). OUT OF FUCKING CONTROL. And I know food. I've been a foodie before this $#!T became trendy. Please don't believe me and then go get converted like Paul, the Christian. N'ahmeannn?!!

My husband and I have been coming here for years. There tadic with stew in top is to die for . It's a great appetizer and the stew is made just right. My husband and I always end of sharing one plate because the servings are so large. We always love the boneless chicken. Also another great thing about this place is they do catering service. They have done a few of our parties and the food has been a great hit and the price has been reasonable . Great place to try out if your in the mood for great food.

I went to Shiraz with my boyfriend and his family a couple of weeks ago for my birthday this place is huge but not very crowded which is a shame cause their food is Delicious! I usually only like homemade Koobideh that my boyfriend's dad prepares but this was up there with some of the best. We started off with Tahdig and Borani Badenjan which came out right away nice and hot, the Borani was Delicious!! so was the Tahdig, they're pita on the other hand not so much, it was like cardboard not fresh at all, I would have been better off bring some from home. I had the boneless chicken kabob plate which was OK and shared some Beef Koobideh with my boyfriend, his sister had the Mahi Mahi plate which I also had a nibble of and it was yummy as well. My only complaints would have to be their service, although they were quick they were also very rude! Just before our entree's came out the waiters swept in tossed our silverware aside on the table and removed our appetizer plates from the table without even asking if we were done. Also my boyfriend has some allergies to raw onions so we always make sure to tell them NO ONIONS on the plate! Well they didn't get the memo not even after 3 people telling them in English and in Farsi cause sure enough there was onion on the plate. It took us about 20-30mins to have our meals cooked and 2 seconds for them to replace his meal? I'm assuming they took it in the back and dusted them off into the trash. Needless to say I ate the half that the onions touched because of their careless actions.

Shiraz has great, authentic Persian food. They have a small room upstairs that is ideal for private parties.

Visited Shiraz last week for the first time. My partner and I are not very savvy about Persian good, but the staff were extremely helpful... bringing us samples of all of the Khoresh dishes, before we decided on the Ghormesabzie Khoresh and Beef Barg ( Chelo Kabob). It was really great. The food was delicious and the service attentive without being intrusive. We were there early in the evening on a weeknight, and the restaurant was fairly empty. This is a place we will definitely to back to.

I developed a taste for Persian food when I was working for a military and government projects in Iran during the regime of the Shah. In the aftermath of the downfall of the Shah, I left Iran after a brief detention at Konarak Air Force Base in the southern province of Baluchistan, way back in mid '79. With that aside, I still cherished the friendship of old Iranian comrades, still admire beautiful Iranian women and still desire Iranian cuisine. Incidentally, Shiraz Restaurant in Glendale happens to be just a few blocks from my home, and just a short drive from our office in Burbank, when my office buddies desires Persian food. I always order the vegetable soup and for the main course it's the Chelo Kabob Soltani. They always provide large servings and if you can't finish your plate, it would be a waste if you won't take it out. So, everytime my officemates and myself go to Shiraz for lunch, our refrigerator at the office will be full and good enough for another serving.

I have been eating middle eastern food all my life, so Im very particular about this type of food....and so is my friend who dines with me here. The atmosphere has an elegant decor and the food is delicious. I have been to many Persian restaurants in LA and Orange County but Shiraz is my top choice.

Terrible service. We waited probably 20 minutes after being seated before anyone came to get our drinks orders. Then, it took about another 20 minutes for them to come. It didn't even seem very busy either. In fact, for some reason, the table next to us was seated AFTER we were and they were done with their meal before we even placed our order!!!! The table behind us had the waitress attend to them THREE times before I had to wave her down and ask for more water for a second time without her bringing it! TERRIBLE service. will not ever go back. we were there for about 2.5 hours total and probably spent only 30 minutes there after our food FINALLY came. bleach blonde hair waitress--AVOID her!

After five years away, living in SF, I returned on vacation and ate here again. It has not changed, which is to say it is still noisy and the food is still dependable. I'm vegetarian, so I always have the Borani, Tadig, and a veg Loobia. Love this place.

I have never tried Middle Eastern cuisine and tried Shiraz for lunch. The prices were very reasonable for the portions you receive. They bring warm pita bread and butter to start. I had the Chicken Kabob and was very impressed with the the seasoning and spices they use, it was perfect and the chicken was very tender. You have to try the Yogurt Soup, it was absolutely delicious. The Yogurt dip and the Hummus were also very delicious. At the end of the meal they brought hot tea and a plate of strawberries & oranges. They make you feel welcome and that you are a special patron, I love restaurants like that, very hard to find these days! Service is key and Shiraz definitely knows all about that. I left feeling grateful if that makes any sense. The decor is beautiful inside, a great place to take the family for a new experience! The service was impeccable and I will definitely return! Thank you for the great food and service Shiraz!
