DOLLAR TACOS. I repeat, dollar tacos! If you sit down for a meal, you'll also get fresh chips and salsa! Holy guacamole! Ah actually you won't find guacamole here, but that's really only a mild ding. No, the dollar tacos aren't a Tuesday thing, they're an everyday thing. They come double wrapped in corn tortillas, topped with onion and cilantro. A few fresh slices of radishes on the side. You have your choice of salsa. I came back to order dinner to-go and got 7. You can get either green salsa or red salsa (red is spicier), and you'll even get a freshly cut lime with your order. The burritos are also bomb, and a kick ass deal at only $4 each! Sit down and watch the Mexican music videos playing on the TV. Bring your Spanish-speaking friend to translate for you and I guarantee you'll have a great time. Super authentic, super fresh, dirt cheap, and awesome customer service to boot! Yeehaw.

The five stars is strictly based on their food. The service was ok not the fastest. The environment was clean but sitting in a ripped booth seat wasn't the most comfortable. Because it's the month of June and warm, it seemed like there were more flys than normal. Well what do I expect, this restaurant is located in the ghetto but like I said the 5 stars are for the food. Inexpensive and delicious. Sometimes, to eat good Mexican food and cheap, you gotta drive to the hood. :) They sell fried chicharones and carnitas daily and it's self serve. Carne asada tacos are $1 ea. It's so worth it. We ordered 6 of them to go. My hubby ordered the nopales con huevos. (cactus with scrambled eggs). It also came with refried beans. I had the chorizo con papas (chorizo with potatoes), 2 eggs over easy and refried beans. We had a choice of fresh handmade corn or flour tortillas. Our total bill was about $20 including the tacos. :) Chips and salsa comes free with dining in. Normally, once we sit down but this time it took awhile to get them. At least we got them right. Of course we'll come back for the food and I do recommend this place if you don't mind driving in the hood.

This hidden gem North of Community Hospital is the bomb for Carnitas!!! This is not to be confused with Zamora on Divisadero which is Salvadoran. You can't go wrong in ordering the Carnitas plate. Large chunks of flavorful pork served with beans and rice. Also you get your choice of homemade tortillas. That's "homemade" corn or flour, the best!!! The Chicharron en salsa verde is a dish that you don't see at most Mexican restaurants. Nice crispy pieces of pork and fat served in a green verde sauce muy delisioso!! The meal is served with chips and salsa, ask for the other sauces ( red and green) when your meal comes. For the beer consumer, the Michelada is great. They serve it in a large mug mixed with tomato juice and various spices. For the To Go crowd, order the Family meal, which is a mound of Carnitas and all the fixins; beans, rice tortillas and sauces all for $13 bucks. this will easily feed a family of four. Overall, great food, and reasonable prices. The service may get a little backed up, so you may have to go to the counter to pay the bill, but it's worth the wait.

Was hesitant to go here but a co-worker said this place you will love. Well I love it. The home made flour and corn tortillas were tasty. I love this place highly recommend!

This is a nice little restaurant...they have a dining room with nice seating, as well as a smaller seating area with the take-out menu. I "needed" flauta, rice and some beans...but I couldnt keep those $1 Tacos out of my mind...so I got both...NO, I'm not sorry for over indulging...I sat and enjoyed those beef Flauntas, and took 3 carnitas tacos back to the hotel. This is a nice restaurant, with very tasty food...impeccable service. I don't know if this is a family small business, but they sure have a client base...there were 15 or so people in the restaurant eating with family and friends...and perhaps a dozen or more take-out orders came while I had my dinner. Awesome...!!!

Had the carnitas. It's heaven in your mouth, I kid you not. If you're ever in the area, visit and experience salvation.

First of all, it's really hard to find handmade fresh corn tortillas in Fresno for whatever reason. After hearing that Zamora offered this, I was there. So I went two days in a row. The first experience was great. I ordered six tacos with a various meat selection so I could sample a good majority of their offerings. All the meats were excellent, but one stood out. The Chicharron was so on point, I went back the next day. Unfortunately, the next day, it was really, really soggy. :( But I'm not going to hold that against them just yet. Because I'm a fan in general and I"ll be going back soon. I do wish that their menu was had an english translation for use Gringo's.

I really like this place. The carnitas of course is awesome. Definitely give the chicarron, it's pretty awesome. But I really come for the garlic fish (take a look at my pic!). Man, this thing is awesome. They really know how to make a great pescado al mojo do ajo. Their michelada is awesome too. I may have finally found the best Mexican place in Fresno.

Tried this place for the first time with wife and kids. I would give it 5 stars but we did have issues with not getting our cups refilled and they did take a very long time to bring us our food but when it did come it was amazing! We had a variety of there $1.00 tacos and side of rice and beans ($2.50). In the end well worth the wait. Will be back soon.

B+ ... Had a few things: carnitas and carne asada tacos. Just $1 and the asada was my fave very good especially for a $1. Then I had the chicken enchilada. A little dry but still very very good with sour cream and queso fresco crumbled on top. Also tried a Gordita and that was just ok. Would def come back for tacos! Also want to mention the fresh tortillas and great chips and salsa.

Wow! Just wow I don't typically eat out at ANY Mexican restaurant because I could never find anything that is better than my mom or dads Mexican food (homemade is the best). I came with a group of friends and what happened next is unforgettable. I ordered the flautas already expecting to be disappointed but ohhhhh loooooord!!! These were authentic Mexican flautas. My friend had carnitas which were also authentic and super delicious. I forgot what my other two friends order but they were also legit, too legit to quit! Haha anyways give this place a try and j promise you won't be disappointed. (Sorry I didn't take any pictures that's how delicious everything was)

Homemade corn tortillas, good service, nice selection of beer, warm chips, three times of salsa and yummy carne asada tacos. Chicken enchilada, a surprising flavor.

  • Jenny H.

Super bomb carnitas! (Aside from it being across town from me) And the beans and rice were surprisingly good too, It's rare anymore for everything to be good. It's usually one or the other, if you're lucky. Totally going back again.

Dropping this down to two stars Not consistent in food. Chicharrons were hard and no skin on the plate. Menu prices are not all correct...they are charging higher prices on some items.

Best homemade tortillas I have ever had. Chips and salsa also amazing. Super cheap and server very sweet.

  • L T.

Good carnitas and fresh tortillas. Very cheap food. Modest interior and not the best neighborhood.

    (4)
  • Sandra G.

Ask for the spicy salsa, it's pretty good. Tacos were freakin' delish. My fiancé had the molé enchiladas (not even on the menu) and loved them. My daughter and her friend had the shrimp tacos. They want to come back for breakfast. This is better than 4 stars but I can't give 5 to anyone, except for my mom's cooking.

    (4)
  • Greatest E.

I do love me some tacos tho.. They do it very well here.. From homemade tortilla to seasoning of the meat.. I know they specialize in carnitas based on the name right? Nope, not until I try it for myself.. Thats exactly what I did and I LOVE IT!! Prices are really cheap here.. Food quality ain't cheap, actually good and almost great.. Michelada was forgettable.. No depth in the flavor like tacos Tijuana... Go for the food and skip the michelada to maximize ur dining experience!!

    (4)
  • Lila A.

Service was super slow even when it was not busy HOWEVER....the food was worth the wait. Carnitas was so good and the homemade tortillas reminded me of my mommas. I'm miserably stuffed :)

  • Aaron S.

Great little place. Solid cheap food that was 4 star worthy. A little mixup w different servers had us waiting for our guacamole app, but it's all good. Reading Spanish is not necessary here, but it would probably make your life easier.

You know that feeling when you walk into place that before you order anything, you know it will be good. I had that feeling when we walked in. Friendly service, legit cumbia music in the background, and delicious food visible at their take out counter. I got the carnitas and how could you not love it ( it's like duck confit but pork cooked in pork fat) ? Fresh and hot. Only thing that keeps it from 5 stars is it took a bit of time ( I wasn't expecting fast food) to get our food but I would not hesitate to rec this place to anyone wanting some delicious pork morsels.

  • Vien N.

Anai (spelling? ) best hostess, very friendly. Res in colorado sauce. Fantastic. But nothing beats the cheap tacos, cheap as in price wise, not as in value. I tried their torta as well. I recommend. Very tasty, and it is grilled so out is not all soft like the ones I got at tacos Tijuana.

  • Joe S.

Man this place is so delicious...food was on point...has that homemade taste to it..tortillas homemade ..fresh to order...waitress was very nice & kind...I'm not from the area but when I do come up or drive thru..it's worth detour and stop to eat here....if you are visiting Fresno out working out here..stop by and have a great Mexican meal with that homemade flavor...excellent menu...the price is rite too....very affordable too..

Man yelp can be hit or miss, because that is how I found Zamora Carnitas, and it was a big miss considering all the good reviews. After placing an order and sitting down, I noticed the place looked a little dirty and dilapidated. Upon closer inspection, the area around the carnitas case looked filthy. My order arrived, and the carnitas were room temperature and had an off taste. I took a few bites and was finished. I paid my bill and left, drove down the road to Tacos y Mariscos Tijuana. I recommend reviewing the health inspection of this place before eating here.

  • Mitchell F.

This place and la Elegante are hands down the best places to get authentic tacos in Fresno. Phenomenal every visit! I definitely encourage people to branch out and try the tripas here. They are cooked to a crunch and are excellent in tacos with onions and cilantro!

    (5)
  • Alex G.

Best Kept Secret that I keep bragging about!!! Best Carnitas I've had in a long, long time. I can only compare their Homemade Corn Tortillas to the one's Mom used to make. Only drawback is the slow service when the get very busy.

  • Nisha B.

What a pleasant surprise while driving through Fresno! We got the chipotle crema shrimp and the fish in special red sauce. The red sauce wasn't special at all. But the shrimp was amazing! Big fan. The portion size was good- me and my husband shared it. Friendly service, great prices!

  • Dario F.

Homemade tortillas!!! Woohoo! Finally an authentic mexican food restaurant. The chile verde was perfect, rich in flavor but not spicy. The service was excellent. Definitely my new favorite mexican restaurant in Fresno. Cant wait to return to try the dollar tacos.

  • Marvin D.

This place is a gem I would have never found without Yelp. I'm not sure I'll have carnitas anywhere else after having it here. Carne asada and chile verde are both excellent as well. We've had tacos, sopes and tortas with those various meats and have zero complaints. Everything is reasonably priced and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Specifically for you white people (like me): Don't be afraid of the neighborhood or the authentic food. It beats the crap out of any Mexican food you'll find North of Shaw. I've been here 3 times in 8 days, so they must be doing something right!

    (5)
  • Matthew P.

Thank you Yelp! The food was on point!!! Everything was absolutely delicious. .I would post pics of the food but we didn't even think of picking up our phones to take pics...lol!!! Would've given 5 stars but the service was lagging.

  • J R.

This place is fantastic! I had an a la cart cheese enchilada with beans and rice, and my friend had a bean and cheese burrito, all for only $9!! Great chips and salsa come with the meal. Very authentic tasting and very fresh. I'll be back the next time I'm in town, no doubt!

  • Lance G.

This place is fantastic. This is as authentic as it gets. Menu is in Spanish. The Carne de Chili Colorado plate was soooo flavourful. The mini carne Asada tacos were fabulous. I had four and I could have eaten 4 more!!!!! My buddy's got the Carne Asada plate and they finished it wanting more. Not saying it is small portions, it was just that good. Definitely worth venturing into this part of town. Not a lot of staff, so don't be in a huge hurry. The place is clean and neat. Restrooms are clean as well.

I was looking for really good Mexican food so I decided to drive into the ghetto. I swear the location reminds me of East Los Angeles. I bought a chicken burrito with everything and I must say it was amazing. They don't have grilled chicken just shredded which was a little salty but it was still good. The beans aren't pinto beans but whatever they're good. I would defiantly come back even if the lady at the register gave me an up and down stare when I walked in bc I was wearing yoga shorts since I was coming from the gym. Btw it's super cheap $3.50 plus tax.

  • Sergio D.

This place was awesome! Dollar tacos are to die for and they are not cheap on the portions. I also had the aqua fresca de piña and it was delicious. My wife had the chicharron de chile verde plate and it didn't disappoint. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for great food. All the tortillas are hand made fresh nothing stored from the store. You can taste the quality.

Some of the best carnitas I've ever had!! My family and I were on a tour of Yosemite and Sequoia and we stopped off in Fresno to sleep for the night. We were looking for a place to eat and as usual I turned to Yelp for help. I found this place just down the street from the hotel so we decided to give it a try. At first we were very disappointing to find out they had run out of carnitas since that's what we went for. We stayed anyway and ordered other food and am I sure glad we did. EVERYTHING we ordered was excellent. Even my ceviche de pescado tostada was really good and really fresh. I was hesitant as mariscos and carnitas don't go hand in hand. My pop's had the chile relleno, mom's the chicharron in salsa verde, and my sis the chile verde. The fresh hand made tortillas were perfect and the chips and salsa were excellent (they make the chips in house). After seeing how good the food was we thought to ourselves that the carnitas must really be off the hook if that's what they're known for. So I asked the waitress what time they would be opening the next morning and what time the first batch of carnitas would be ready. The plan was to pick some up along with all the fixin's (rice, beans, salsa, and tortillas) and take them with us to Sequoia to have a picnic out there. She said they'd be ready by 7 am. So sure enough we show up at 8 am and the carnitas were fresh out of the caso. We picked up some chicharrones as well and that was one of the best picnics we ever had. Truth be told, this place is very much a hole in the wall type of place and as such we did see the occasional fly that others mentioned in their reviews. But it wasn't so bad that you should stay away and miss out on the home cooked goodness. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and welcoming.

The tacos here are the best in Fresno. Great burritos and the staff is very friendly. Kind of a bad part of town but worth it for the adobada tacos.

As a white guy, I'm sure I have the authority to say this: It seems really authentic. Whether it is or not, the food is great and a really great bargain.

  • Kaila I.

I have mixed feelings about this place... I love the food and it's super cheap (2 of us usually eat for about $10.00), but sometimes the service sucks. It's always fine when my BF and I come and eat in, but sometimes I bring my mom and we order to go, and they treat us like dirt. They're rude, and it's usually the same woman helping us. They give my mom dirty looks, and act like anything she orders is so stupid. Not sure how to explain it, but it sucks because she loves this place too.

  • Brian M.

I highly recommend the carnitas plate. My carne asada tacos were good, but a little light on the meat.

  • Katie D.

After 3 visits, this place is a solid SOLID taco place for me. The homemade corn and flour tortillas are out of this world. The homemade chips and salsa are also so so yummy. I always get the carnitas and chicharron tacos, which never disappoint. And so inexpensive! A dollar a taco made with amazing carnitas and homemade tortillas? Sold. And the girls who work here are so sweet and always remember the random Filipino girl who comes in every time she has to drive down from SF. Sometimes I'll order the carnitas especial (comes with carnitas, beans, rice, salsa, and tortillas for a whopping $12) and a big piece of chicharron to bring home and share. I WISH there was a place this good in SF/Oakland. Reminds me so much of my favorite taco places in LA and SD. Come eat here. It's not a swanky place in a nice part of town, but who cares? The food and service are on point. I'll be back every time I'm in Fresno!

  • Hidalgo R.

This is my new favorite spot in town. Ordered 2 entrees, 1 side taco, 1 beer, an 1/2 lb of chiccarones con carne to go for $25. Hot salsa is great, big time endorsements.

  • Craig C.

Very good salsa's. Friendly and service was pretty good. Carnitas was awesome. Home made tortillas, flour and corn were great! Carne asada, and carnitas tacos I highly recommend. Several flies buzzing around were not pleasant.

  • Wyland L.

This is a 4 and a half rating. On food alone it's about a 5. Including facilities it's pushed down a bit. I was heading back to LA from Yosemete and decided to give this place a try. It's not too far off the freeway so it's convenient for traveling. The food was delicious. $1 tacos!! Carnitas and Asada tacos are super good; Chicken not recommended. FRESH chips and tasty salsa. Carnitas plate was good. It wasn't spectacular. But it was good. The tortillas were so fresh and cooked to perfection. Horchata was 5 star worthy as well. Rice and beans were standard good. Portions are big. I needed to take out, and I was super hungry. I'll be back if I'm coming through Fresno again! I'd recommend to try it as well.

Hit up this place after arriving in Fresno in early a.m. decided to get some breakfast for the last leg home. My wife had the huevos con nopales. My son and I had the chorizo con huevos and my daughter had the chilaquiles. All of it was super yummy! The handmade tortillas were some of the best I've ever had. Definitely a place to go.

Yelp strikes again -- we had an amaaaazing family dinner here tonight! I wish I could throw in a few extra stars here. Perfect food, wonderful service, and a very comfortable restaurant. And then, to top it all off, the four of us were stuffed, but a delicious all-homemade dinner for four plus a couple of beers was 30 bucks. Wow. So, not JUST amazing food and welcoming service, but great value too. Like you might expect, you get chips and salsa at the beginning. Tasty! We had beers and horchata -- the horchata tasted home-made, although I didn't ask whether it was. It was delicious so who cares, haha! :) Two of us each had the carnitas dinner plate, which comes with your choice of homemade tortillas and then rice, beans, salsa and lime wedges. Best carnitas ever. The portions were very generous -- we stuffed our faces and had meat and tortillas left over. Our son got the chile verde burrito with an added side of rice and beans, and he loved it but he, too, couldn't finish. Our daughter got a kids plate with a carne asada taco, and rice and beans. She did finish hers and we offered her some of ours, but she was full. Everyone was really happy with the food, but a big part of eating at a restaurant is the service, and that was great too. The man who greeted us was very warm and welcoming, and our server was a really nice young woman -- very attentive, cheerful, friendly, and genuine. Zamora's was a perfect place to enjoy a relaxing and delicious meal out with the family.

You have to be crazy to not like $1 tacos, and these are some solid $1 tacos at that! Tried a lot of their meats, and they're almost if not as good as the ones I've had in San Diego and Tijuana...and I've had a lot down there. Fresh salsa and chips, amazingly soft tortillas (I would make a pillow out of them if I could), friendly service, no complaints!

  • Kryzak K.

Pretty good food, and fresh chips. The tortilla was well made and the chicken mole and lengua were all very delicious!

  • Blake S.

I love carnitas and this place has the best carnitas in the area. The service is very good. When we come here we get the carnitas plate for three and we get a nice plate with chunks of carnitas, rice, beans and all the fixings. The meat has such good flavor and the fat coats your mouth in a very good way. They have a lot of other traditional Mexican dishes, but we really come for the carnitas. They have two types of chicharron. One with just the skin and fat and one with piece of meat mixed in. The later chicharron is very good, especially when it is warm This is a place you should not pass up.

    (5)
  • Nate N.

Too much hype. The carnitas was burned. Tasted like beef jerky. Chicken wasn't bad. We waited for 70 mins for food. There was 1 server for about 60 people. I felt bad for her. Would give more stats if they didn't burn everything.

    (2)
  • Anna J.

Delicious tortas and home made tortillas. They make their horchata in-house, too. Live mariachi on occasion. Great service.

  • Giang P.

Ah Zamora. This is my second time here and it does not disappoint. I ordered el pastor, carnitas, cabeza, chicharrones, and tripas tacos. Yes, I literally "pig out" today. I also got their chicharrones togo. It's like roasted pig except extra crispy. Good Lord if I have a heart attack today, at least I'll die happy :). I'm still very impressed with their fresh tortilla, it make a whole world of different. For those of you who are used to tortilla that gets soggy and fall apart as you eat, solve that dilemma by coming here. As for scenery, who gives a shit, I'm here for tacos! $1 tacos for that matter! 2 Thumps up for this clean little whole in the wall.

  • Jamie C.

AMAZING and cheap tacos, authentic feel, fast friendly service. I am a huge fan, and everyone who I have sent here has loved the food. Definitely the go-to spot for tacos. Their beans are also the best I have ever tasted, which may be because they are made with mucho lard. Pro tip: sprinkle some chopped up fried pig skin onto tacos for extra mouthgasm-ness. Those who can't appreciate this type of establishment should continue to enjoy their authentic Mexican fare at Chipotle or Arsenio's.

This place has some really great Mexican food! You can taste the flavor all the way through. I live right around the corner and the neighborhood is not the greatest but this place is a diamond in the ruff! Usually come for the breakfast burritos but all is exceptional. Service is friendly, price is fair, and the place is very clean!

This is by far the best Mexican food in Fresno. I've had many, and none compare to Zamora's. The decor or location isn't anything to write home about, but who cares?! The food is absolutely AMAZING! I recommend the carnitas platter. Cheap, quick, and always delicious

  • Matt P.

Definitely a new fan here! Based on a local tip, I would've never found this spot as it's so discreetly hidden, like a lot of gems in this city are. Just based on this first visit (and on the first bite), I could tell right away that Zamora was an exception out of all the hundreds of mediocre 'hole-in-the-wall' Mexican joints in Fresno. When trying any of these places, I can usually gauge right away if I'll be coming back, just based on how they do a simple street taco; if you fuck that up (which most places do), you're pretty much dismissed in my book. Within nanoseconds of the first bite of my taco, I could instantly tell the texture of the corn tortilla was fresh and homemade, and I'm willing to bet was most likely made and prepared that same day, perhaps even hours before I walked in. It was soft, pleasantly-chewy, and had a great texture. Even with the burrito, the flour tortilla was clearly homemade as well. I'm convinced that the worst offense to Mexican food is the disregard for freshly made corn / flour tortillas. I (as well as most people) have sadly gotten SO USED to that bland, chewy, dry 'commercial' texture (thanks Taco Bell) long enough from non-fresh tortillas that are pre-made, store bought, and sitting around forever, that when you finally taste a fresh tortilla, you instantly think to yourself: "oh yeah... this is what a fresh corn / flour tortilla is supposed to taste like, I forgot." It's not bio-genetic engineering here people -- fresh is always better; simple as that. As far as the restaurant, there's ample seating with two dining areas, and the place is kept exceptionally clean for your standard Mexican 'hole-in-the-wall.' As far as authenticity overall, there's no doubt about it that Zamora is that. You know you're in for an authentic treat when upon walking in, Mexican Ranchero music is blasting from the jukebox, the waitresses are rude, not paying any attention to you at all, and you have absolutely no idea whatsoever where and how to order, as said waitresses will be staring at you thinking to themselves "fucking gringo." That's the best feeling, whether you like it or not; this is definitely what you should be looking for in an authentic Mexican joint. If you walk into a "Mexican" restaurant, and the waitress gives you a huge smile, greeting, hands you a menu asking you how many people are in your group -- just fucking run because that means the food is made for O.D. white people. I would definitely recommend Zamora to anyone with a hankering for cheap and authentic Mexican food. Super solid 4 rating, with potential to easily be a 5 upon future visits -- can't wait. Go support them!

This is my new favorite! I won't be going anywhere else for Mexican food... The Carnitas are thee best I've EVER had. I've also had their Birria which brought a tear to my eye, it was my dad's specialty and since his passing, I haven't had a really good Birria. Until I had it here. Very authentic taste. Full of flavor. The service is great, very friendly. The owner is in the kitchen cooking it up everytime I've been here. On my last visit, the waitress asked if we wanted homemade corn tortillas OR flour...! WHO makes flour tortillas by hand??? Zamora Carnitas does! And they are gooood! I want to try everything on the menu.

We are in town for the youth wrestling championship, and discovered Zamora's for our hungry 4th graders. The eggs and breakfast plates were hearty and absolutely delicious! We ate every single homemade tortilla. Definitely worth a try!

Oh my...I love carnitas and am very picky about them. Always too dry, not enough flavor, etc...but this place is amazing! ! They have handmade tortillas and their salsas are delicious. They sell their tortillas in packages too. I love it! Oh and the horchata is yummy.

Sweet waitress, speedy service, good n cheap food. Ordered the breakfast burrito, they said they would make it " with whatever I wanted". Perfect :) I'll be back to try lunch and the horchata.

Some of the best carnitas in town! Bomb carnitas, rice, beans and homemade tortillas for only around $8 a plate. Inside is clean and well kept.

Took 30 minutes to take our order and an hour to have it served, normally I wouldn't mind if it was full but it wasn't.

This place doesn't even deserve 1 star! Service was horrible. And our food was the most disgusting part! Ruined our dinner night. They gave us old meat that was sitting in the food warmer. Our tripas was hard! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone at all. STAY AWAY!!!

This place is really good. I had their carne Asada tacos which were good, I just wish they would of made them with their home made tortillas which are amazing! I also had the fried fish . I would definitely come back. Their service is great, our waitress was very attentive and courteous.

This is my favorite "Hole-in-the-wall" place for Mexican. Since finding this on Yelp three months ago, I've been back at least 4 times with parties of various sizes. And everyone has loved it. The tacos are great--I especially like their simplicity. It's easy and affordable to order a bunch of different ones to try. Give the BBQ Pork or Chile Verde taco a go--really love those. I don't know what they put in the beans, but they are among the best I've had. Last time, I even ordered the usually pretty boring standard Chicken Fajitas. What I got was properly seasoned and perfect chicken cooked perfectly; not overly cooked and dry as in most places. Also, lots of tasty veggies and the best freshly made tortillas as well. All served in generous portions. Oh yeah--the Horchata was also quite good. I'm not sure more than one server speaks English, but no matter. The server is both friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We've often asked for her recommendations. The building may not look like much from the outside, but it's clean and spacious inside. For my wife and I, this place is the very definition of value. Great food, good service, and more than affordable. Highly recommended.

This place was gross. They didnt just mess up my order once, but twice. They had their sopes menu said beans, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, meat. One I ask for no meat, then it didnt have tomatoes, or beans. Then then tell me they no longer put tomatoe on it. I then tell them thats not what the menu said. I given them a second chance to fix it. They made it right. This time when I grab it. It was soke with water at the bottom. And bend like a tortilla. That was the gross part. A sope is suppost to be fried and has a crunch when you take a bite out of it. The girl said its that way because of the beans and sour cream. It didnt have enough bean to make it that way 1st of all. And sour cream is to be thick and creamy. I have never had a sope like this before. I got my money back after that. I am upset that I had to waste gas to go back twice and still paid for the food the second time. And still was hungry. When I needed to get things done for the day. I have had better luck with a taco truck. So upseting!

Definitely my favourite sit-down mexican joint in Fresno. We are kind of blessed here with a lot of amazing mexican food, so my 4 stars really needs to be emphasised. First, location. Is OKAY, next to an overpass in a weird area, but if you want good food sometimes you expect to go to strange or even shady areas. Parking was fine, I've been here a few times and every time I go the place is maybe half-full, which is perfect. Not too many people to be crowded or rushed, and enough people to feel comfortable eating and hopefully letting them keep the place going. The food was amazing, if you're a non-spanish speaker you might have some trouble ordering here. Luckily I've picked up on some of the language so I was able to butcher my way through. The usual suspects of tacos carnitas, asada, etc. were all delicious. The burrito I had was awesome as well. Tortillas were fresh and those folks know how to cook. The best thing is the price. I'm not a stickler on price, good food sometimes costs a bit of money, and that's fine, you expect that. But the tacos here are a dollar. That's almost unheard of. Don Pepe's, el pescador etc are all 1.50+ approaching 2 dollars and after eating at zamora there's just no excuse to pay that much. Either these other places are pricing their tacos way higher than they should, or zamora is totally undervaluing their food. Getting full on less than 5 bucks is pretty awesome.

This is a true authentic Mexican restaurant. I know this because it is located smack in the middle of a run down Mexican neighborhood. It sits on a corner and blends in with the homes on block. Easy to miss when driving by since it looks somewhat similar to a house. They have a small parking lot and off street parking. Lock your doors. When you enter, you will actually be surprised at how big this place is. It's not huge but it's sure bigger that what you'd expect from the outside. Off to the left there is a small diner type area, off to the right is a bigger seating area for the restaurant. The menu is kind of confusing because everything is jumbled in Spanish and English together. The waitress wasn't very helpful with our question regarding the menu items. We just blindly ordered a few items. To my surprise, they did not have margaritas. I kinda felt silly after asking for a margarita. Am I wrong to assume that an authentic Mexican restaurant would offer and made the best margaritas? Anyway, I'm giving three stars despite all the above because the food was quite amazing. We ordered fish tacos and beef fajitas. Both dishes were juicy and flavorful.

This place is so authentic we needed Passports and were told to not drink the water or eat the ice. Just kidding. If you want to experience the most amazing Mexican meal, this place is a must try. We had the carnitas and the #11 chicken dish. Best meal we have had in a long time and very inexpensive. This is the go to place in Fresno. We are headed back in the morning for breakfast before heading back home to the Bay Area for over priced, mediocre food.

This is the best Mexican food we've had in Fresno in a long time, it was getting to the point where we were just too scared to even try a new place with all the bad experiences or just bland food. Opened yelp, read the reviews, the hand made tortillas helped make the decision to try it out. We were not disappointing, we both tried something we had never had before (carnitas and chipotle chicken). We'll be regulars here from now on. Can't wait to try breakfast!

We aren't big fans of chain restaurant's and were looking for a real authentic and good place to go. We decided to test our tried and true Yelp reviews and decided this was the place to try! OH MY GOSH this food was absolutely amazing!!! First off their salsa was outstanding, and they refilled our dish multiple times, and offered us some to take home :) I tried the #11 which was the creamy chipotle chicken breast dish, and my husband tried the #1 plate of carnitas. Both were fresh and amazingly good. Can't think of a reason not to come here other than it being in a shady area of town, but it is worth it! OH and they also had a traditional band walking around in the parking lot and in the restaurant to serenade us, quite fun. Overall, do not miss this place, it is way too good to be overlooked, we can't wait to go back.

One of the best authentic Mexican food places in Fresno. The carnitas are always excellent and the adobada is to die for! I luv this place. Great food and good service always. On top of that, my husband and I can easily eat for less than $20.

If you're looking for an authentic place to eat, look no further. The food is great and inexpensive, I was surprised by how cheap things were. Yes it's in a shady part of town, but that's exactly what makes the whole experience just that more authentic. Not to mention they have a small "Grupo" playing music inside, they charge $5 for a song. I will definitely come back, I recommend the Carnitas with Buche. If your looking for 5 star service for $6 a plate, then you're in the wrong place. If you're looking for 5 star food for $6 a plate, then you're in the right place.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
