Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Came here for lunch today and it was disappointing to say the least. I ordered a two meat plate with sliced brisket and pulled pork. My gf ordered a pulled pork sandwich with potato salad. Neither of us were really impressed. When we were waiting for our food, I saw something that said they cook their food in a pit smoker for 12 hours. I call bs on that. When we got the food, I didn't see any smoke ring in the brisket which means they probably didn't smoke it. There was no flavor at all, I think they either boil the meat or bake it in the oven. Not real bbq. My gf didn't really enjoy her sandwich. She also thought the meat was very plain. Her potato salad was nasty and has had better store bought potato salads. The bbq sauce is mediocre, but it does had some flavor to the meat which isn't saying much. On the plus side, they did have free ice cream and pickles, but I hate pickles.

I'm a huge fan of BBQ. Having two BBQ restaurants (Dickey's and Kinders) in the same shopping complex must mean they're in stiff competition to out do each other. WRONG! I can't get past how aweful the BBQ food was. Yuck! Yuck! Yuck! Tasteless and chewy. It tasted like it was boiled in laundry water and smothered in day old ketchup to cover it up. When you see this restaurant, have comfort you're driving past it to get to Kinder's. One star for the free ice cream to make up for their awful food.

I like it. I know it ain't true legit southern bbq but I like it

Ok, had to drop one star because on day of the event the food was over an hour late. On my invoie, it showed 5:15 delivery. On the delivery guys invoice, it showed 6:00 pm. He didn't get there till 6:15 and thought he was only 15 minutes late. Nt totally his fault. Then one of the side dishes was incorrect. We supposed to be the default baked beans, but they were replaced with a potato salad, which is normally ok, but I had also ordered the potato casserole...at any rate the rest of the food was delicious, and the guests loved it all, just wish they had been closer to on time and brought the correct side dish...

My sister and I wanted to try some place new so we stopped in Dickey's. I had the "Fall-off-the-Bone Pork Ribs which was excellent. Tender, moist and delicious! My sister had the "Texas Style Chopped Beef Brisket" sandwich which was delicious, too. The service was fast and the workers were friendly. You can help yourself to the BBQ sauce: mild, hot or both. Free ice cream and pickles included. I'll be going back!

This place gives you free ice cream, the sandwiches are pretty good. The salads are big and they always have a special going on. I like this place.

I guess if you've never had real barbecue before and you usually just eat at all of the other chain restaurants in the East Bay, you could be forgiven for mistaking this for good food. On the other hand, if your taste buds actually do their job, there's no way that you could think that this is edible. It's all bland: the ribs (more fat than meat), the pulled pork (ugh), the sausage (how do you make sausage bland?), the potato salad (which is bright yellow and has no chunks of potato at all in it - wtf?), the green beans (with bacon boiled past all recognition), the corn (way overcooked), the barbecue sauce. The free pickles were at least somewhat identifiable as dill pickles. Even the sweet tea sucked, and this is coming from someone who is willing to drink the sweet tea at McDonald's when super-desperate for a sweet tea fix. If you think that the quality of food is measured by the portions and the existence of free ice cream and pickles, come here. If, on the other hand, you think that the quality of food is measured by the quality of ingredients and the quality of preparation, run far far away.

damn good hot bbq sauce. love it on the hot links.

The food here is OK. The only thing that draws me back to it is the fact it's next door to one of my favorite bakeries and they have free soft serve ice cream. The ribs are not fall-off-the-bone tender and need sauce. Their sauce is too salty for me. The pulled pork is tender, but bland. The fried okra is good from the side options. I saw that a Kinder's opened up in the same strip mall area which could be a real threat to this place.

This is a very casual place, located in a nice shopping center and next door to one of my other local favorites, the Prolific Oven. I'm not exactly a connoisseur of BBQ, but I always enjoy it here. I usually get the pulled pork, or sometimes the chicken. But what I really come here for is FRIED OKRA -- I'm just delighted that I can easily get it just a couple miles from my home. Okra is done very well here. That's somewhat amusing since this place completely destroys their corn-on-the-cob, which ought to be easier to cook. But the okra is perfect. (Hint to Dickey's -- the okra would REALLY be perfect if you had Tabasco sauce available.) I haven't experienced any of the dryness / blandness / other-ness described by some other reviewers.

Their sandwiches are awesome! Love how you can customize how hot you want your bbq sauce! We come just for the sandwiches and nothing more. Their free soft serve ice cream is a definite plus too! It's the perfect match after we're done with our meals! We always get one cone to finish inside and one for the walk out :)

  • Kien M.

I had the two combo meat plate with sliced beef brisket and ribs. The brisket was tender and fatty which tasted pretty good. The meat on the ribs came off the bone but had no spice or flavor to it. I expect ribs to be good without any BBQ sauce. The fried okra was pretty good and the baked beans were too salty. Free pickle and ice cream are also a plus but don't expect anything close to McD's soft-serve.

So The food is OK. We actually liked it better the first time. Tonight it was OK. I am giving them 1 star for customer service. I was very disappointed tonight and will not be going back there again. It just isn't worth it.

Dickey's-Home of the BIG YELLOW CUP!! My pal and I went to Dickeys after church sunday to load up on some decent BBQ. This was my first time at Dickeys. Right off the bat the staff was very helpful at explaining their very big menu. A LOT of good choices ensures a return visit. I had a two meat plate for $11.50. 2 meats: Pulled pork and "fall-off-the-bone-pork ribs", 2 sides: BBQ Beans( just ok) and something they call Onion Tanglers(TASTY!) a roll/bisquit and sauces on the side. Good BBQ sauce, GREAT Hot bbq sauce.BIGYELLOWCUP for all the soda ya want. They also offer a big pickle barrel withe dill spears, help yerself they are free and go great with BBQ. Soft serve vanilla ice cream to end the meal. Restaurant is clean, nice theme vintage photography on the walls, real family friendly. Small parking area (shared with 3 other restaurants) is a little tricky but we were fortunate to find a spot. Bathroom was spotless and well stocked. And here's a nice little detail I spotted: On the bill receipt under their websight it says "May God Bless You". Well now, when was the last time a restaurant blessed its customers? All I can say is: God Bless Dickeys BBQ!!!! (PS: I'm reserving the FIFTH STAR for "All-you-can-eat-pork-ribs-next-to-the-pickle-jar!!")

I actually found this joint on MISTAKE, I was looking for the WING STOP and some how ended up in this plaza and saw DICKEY'S and decided to go. Well, I must say that me being from the south (Georgia where BBQ is the real deal) I was really skeptical about this place. Since being in california I have been disappointed by other places...Well, DICKEY'S won me over. Upon walking inside they have the menu on a stand so you can TRY to decide what you would like before you reach the girls at the register. Well, I decided to try the RIB PLATE with to my surprise they had FRIED OKRA...(AHHHHHH,,the heavens opened up) Fried Okra and Mac & Cheese which was very soupy but that was okay next I will have to try the beans. I loved the ALL YOU CAN EAT FREE pickles and ice cream. Pickles remineded me of how my momma use to jar cucmbers to pickles. Anywho, I pay for my food grab a pickle and go outside and grab a table with an unmbrella and wait for the guy to find me and my number. Now that they should come up with a better system but I guess it's working for them. The Rib Plate was good the meat fell from the bone although one was really fatty and I almost vomitted at the table but I just chose not to eat that particular one. Now, my overall visit was WONDERFUL. The young lady at the register was pleasant and the food was Good for WEST coast BBQ...Dickey's has truly gained a faithful customer for as long I am in the area.

Yeah, the brisket is tender but this isn't real barbecue. Plus, could I have a little meat on that rib bone? On the other hand, how can you disagree with free ice cream?

    (2)
  • Chris A.

A few of us from work went here for lunch. It was ok, its good food, but compared to other BBQ places in the area its just kind of average. They do have free ice cream which is nice.

We both had the rib plate for 12.95 and shared a drink, so it came to a little over $30 for the two of us. I cringed a bit on the price as it compares to our fast-food trips but we were both pleasantly surprised to see how much food we got. You get in line and order, they brought the food quickly, and no need to tip since you don't have a waiter. Our plates came with 6 pork ribs, 2 sides (mmmm... try the tangly onions if you like onion rings!) and a roll. I liked the roll. It tasted fresh, and didn't feel like it was just some cheap filler they threw on the plate to make you think you were getting more. Also, free pickles AND free soft-serve ice cream!!!! Nice touch for a bit of dessert after. I think they have real desserts too. We liked everything we ate very much, and will go back. Our only complaint? Not really into the country music they play but it did seem to fit the country BBQ atmosphere,. This is more of a joke complaint than a real one. We left our yellow cup there to be recycled as we have no need for that size of cup at home. A kid would probably like it though.

After eating at this place twice more after my initial review it finally dawned on me. "You don't smell BBQ from the outside." The lack of BBQ smell from the street tells me they're just heating up food that was shipped to them from the head office. I don't hate the food but in general I'm not going back. I'll drive a bit when I get the craving for BBQ.

  • Michelle D.

The pricing was ok. The ribs were decent (coulda been more meat + sauce) and I'm extra mad that I DID NOT get the side dish I saw on the menu!! Pictures are worth a 1000 words, when dealing with food - we want the food in the picture! With that said, the server exchanged my first side dish (with a slight attitude) b/c I commented that it wasn't what I thought it would be like in the pictures. The second side dish wasn't what was in the picture either. So that was altogether a fail. Overall, eh... it was okay. I'm used of southern bbq, and this place would never compete. This was an almost #fail (twitter lingo haha) had it not been for the FREE ice cream. lol

  • ken l.

Free pickles and soft serve cones yeah!!! The brisket, ribs and pork are all great here and the prices are reasonable. For a fast food BBQ I really like this place. The sauce here is also very good. This place is better than Kindlers in my opinion in every aspect.

I've been on a BBQ kick lately. I had to be in Fremont & decided to stop in to Dickey's. Ordered a chicken sandwich & it was quite good! I prefer a pulled chicken sandwich but a breast will do ;-). Their bbq sauce is delicious. I opted for their "hot" version of bbq sauce but I didn't notice it being any spicier than their regular version. What I also loved was that they offer whole dill pickles, in their self serve area, those are so yummy. That & their self serve ice cream for dessert! This place reminded me of "small town America" & I really dug that. Oh, minus 2 stars for their beef brisket sandwich...my friend said it had a lot of fat & had to pick out those pieces, no fun. All in all...staff was very friendly, reasonable prices...I'll go back!

Free ice cream. They were out of bread rolls so I didn't get any. I Ordered two meat platter. Brisket and chicken breast. I have to say, it was not the best, I feel that Armadillo Willies tastes better. However I did get this through the Groupon deal that they had, so for the price it was fine. I have a few more Goupons to use here, so I will try their other offerings.

I came here when they first opened, thinking FINALLY a BBQ place were I can get my RIB-on. Well, back then they did not have ribs but pulled pork and brisket and stuff. The meat came out and it was dry. Aww, so sad. So we ordered the family dinner, and were waiting for rolls that come with the meal. It did not come, so went up to ask them where they were. The people looked so lost, they didn't even know their own menu. I had to point the item out to them, then they said they were "out" of rolls. While we were eating I saw them bring out some rolls and they started to hand them out to other customers and when they got to us they gave is one. As a "complimentary" item. WHAT A JOKE! Well, that was fine, cause when we bit into it, it was HARD and tasted like crud. Since then we have not been back. Maybe we should give them a second chance. But after the awful experience it is hard to throw good money at them.

Dickey's BBQ is a great place to eat if you want good BBQ in the Fremont area. We (they family & I) have had so far the pulled pork, the chopped & sliced beef brisket, spicy hot links, marinated chicken breast & the polish sausage. Can't go wrong with any of those. For the side dishes we have had waffle iron fries, creamy coleslaw, BBQ beans, baked potato casserole, mac & cheese and original potato salad. Again you can't go wrong with any of these side dishes. Always love the free pickles & ice cream, a little kids favorite dessert. We are going to try the XL Family Pack next time we have a family get together. The con for this place, you can never have enough BBQ sauce to go with any of your food. Going back soon

I really wanted to like this place, but I was not thrilled. The food didn't have the good smokey-ness that BBQ should. It was pretty disappointing to see the workers in the back take out all the frozen food.....not very impressive & a little too fast-foodish. It's a very cute place, the workers were nice....but the food itself wasn't that great. :( Ratings 1-5: (1= it sucked , 5= it met all my requirements) 1) food: 2.5 2) service: 4 3) ambiance: 4 4) would I recommend people to check it out? Sorry...I would suggest you to go some where else.

Last night we got some food to go. I was holding the bag in between my legs and suddenly felt SCOLDING hot liquid seeping all over me. The green beans we got where SO ungodly HOT that they melted through the plastic container and green bean juice go everywhere. I called to tell the manager what happened and I got a half ass apology. Screw this place.

I had the Westerner Sandwich, nice roll with your choice of two types of meat. I chose the Sliced Beef Brisket and Grilled Chicken (wanted Turkey but they were all out). Comes with cheese and you can get coleslaw on top if you want. You can also opt for the "Sandwich Plate" which allows you to choose two sides, I got the coleslaw (it was ok, not as creamy as I like) and the Potato Salad which tasted like potato salad with the texture of mashed potatoes. It was a little sweet which I didn't care for. The sandwich itself was good, meat was nice and tender. My other half chose the two meat plate but they were running out of some stuff so they gave him a little bit of this and that. He had the sausage (eh, so so), pulled pork (ok), ribs (ok). He also had the Mac and Cheese (where's the cheese? The Mac was overdone and it was dry as well). I also thought he was supposed to get what looked like a biscuit in the picture but turned out to be a hamburger bun that was slightly toasted and buttered. However! They had a soft serve machine in the corner by the door, after you eat you can head over and grab a cone or a cup of vanilla soft serve, I decided to make a root beer float YUMMY! I'd be back for the sandwich and to try the Turkey.

Been meaning to try this place so my perfect date ( my son) came here for lunch. I got their bbq brisket on a hoagie sandwich with criss cut fries and a drink. Baby got a chicken nugget meal. My meal was about $6 and my son was about $4.50. The sandwich was good but small. It was 5" x 3" not really big. I should be grateful since it is less calories but I know many who come here for the first time will not be expecting the sandwich so small. The food overall was good but unless my mouth is watering to come back, it will get 3 stars from me. The place is a country style, clean, free refills on your drinks and free soft serve ice cream. You can order sandwiches or plates of meat. Bonus for those with kids- Kids eat free on Sundays! ONe child per paying adult, 12 years or younger. Must chose from Kid's Meal and dine in only.

I will say, the price for the food is...kinda of high. The food is decent enough, but the portions aren't very big. The price is somewhat on the high side, in my opinion, for the food. The food is definitely good though. Free pickles and ice cream is always a plus. Definitely would recommend the place, just make sure to order more food if you are, like me, someone who can pack away food quite easily.

I came here for lunch and the food was okay but the service sucked so I'm not coming back. Pros: Food is okay but not great. Good sized portions for $12. Free vanilla ice cream. Cons: Everything is self-service but you're expected to leave a tip. You get your own utensils, refills, etc. The big guy taking orders at the cash register was curt and unfriendly.

I've been driving passed this place for a while now before i decided to check it out one day after a brutal shopping onslaught at costco. What better way to recover my stamina then bbq right? I went for the bbq pulled pork sandwich, criss cut fries, and the yellow jug of soda. the sandwich is real simple; pork, bun w/ pickle and onion on the side and a cup of bbq sauce. the sauce was tasty, had a some heat to it but not enough that anyone would call it hot or spicy. with the onion and the pickle i immediately thought "mmm.. mcrib". Dickey's won me over with the pickles. They hook it up, most places will give you 2 pickles and shove you out the door. I had atleast 5 of em shoved in the corner of my sandwich. The place was empty when I went so i'll have to write a follow up if I go and the place is ever busy. Hopefully I'll be back in the area for more bbq from Dickey's. I'll be back to try the ribs! Hopefully they kick down some pickles on my full rack order! Dickeys seems like a good place for some quick bbq in Fremont.

Not too shabby for a chain. So far been here once. Ordered a full on XL Family Feast. Pulled pork, pork ribs & brisket. Fried Okra, jalapeno beans, potato salad, & waffle iron fries for the sides. We picked up a cup of both sauces to taste mild & spicy. I stuck with the spicy it had a nice tang to it. After sampling a bit of everything spread out on the table I found myself back at the rib platter. The meat was moist and tender. The brisket I could probably do without next time. The pulled pork was at it's best sandwiched in their rolls & smothered in that tangy spicy sauce of theirs. The big bonus for me was that generous jar of pickles they had at the beverage counter. Yummo! Although the prices seem a little bit much for what you get it's a place I'd come back to. I wanted to try the baked style potatoes maybe that's what I'll throw into my next trip. One thing I should have done was saved a bit of room for their soft serve. I wish I had the appetite for more than 1 cup.

The food here was ok, not bad, but ok. The pork was tender and not dry but lacking in flavor. The sausage tasted processed and uninspired. The ice cream they served was pretty good though. Overall, its ok. i would come back here again for a cheap alternative to bbq

By far, the BEST Dickey's in the Bay Area!!!!! The customer service is excellent here. The servings are more than enough. The ice cream and pickles are never out. Simply put, if you are going to go to a Dickey's establishment in the Bay Area, go to this one.

Seems things are looking up for this place compared to past reviews of mine. Employees seem to have it together now and the food is good. Pulled pork is juicy and the food is always hot. Love the free ice cream, so I can make a root beer float!

On slickdeals.net , I saw this post advertising $1 pulled pork sandwiches at Dickey's and saw this as an opportunity to try this place. I've wanted to try this place before but haven't had the urge to do so. After today, I can say that I've had a good experience at Dickey's. So we drove into the parking lot only to see a long line of people out the door waiting to order. I expected this, as well as a long wait to order and get my food because of their promotion (only today 10/19). The place was packed, and there was no where to sit down, so we decided to get our food to go. I noticed that there was a sign stating free ice cream. I read on Yelp about people who loved getting free ice cream at Dickey's and I couldn't believe it. It was actually free!. You could potentially go there just to get ice cream if you wanted to. They only had vanilla but you could choose between a cone or a cup. And they also had a jar of whole pickles that was also complimentary, but i don't like pickles. Anyways, when we got to the front of the line, we noticed a sign saying "no pulled pork or turkey." We got there around 7pm so I wasn't surprised that they ran out. I opted for the chopped beef instead, along with a veggie platter (a choice of 3 sides). We chose macaroni and cheese, deep fried okra, and cross cut fries. The veggie platter was an additional $5 on top of the $1 I paid for my sandwich. Originally the sandwich was $4.75 I believe. Our total of 2 sandwiches and a veggie platter came out to $7.68 It definitely was a good deal. I started with the chopped beef sandwich. In it was the beef, onions, and pickles. I removed the pickles and then took a bite of the sandwich. It wasn't that bad. At first, the beef tasted bland, so I added some BBQ sauce that they included in the bag. That made the sandwich taste much better. The beef was soft, tender, and juicy. Besides some cuts of pure fat mixed into the beef, I liked it. The sandwich as a whole wasn't too sweet or sour unlike some other BBQ restaurants I've been to. The cross cut fries, were OK. When I got home, they were a bit cold so it didn't taste that good. They were soft, soggy, and not crispy everything you don't want in fries, but I bet they would've been better right out of the kitchen. I don't like okra, so it wasn't surprising to see that I didn't like the deep fried okra either. It was just weird to me. The macaroni and cheese wasn't that bad. There was a lot more cheese than macaroni, and it had a subtle taste, not absent but also not too strong. It was good. Also the extra cheese made for some good dipping sauce for the fries. Overall, I was satisfied with Dickey's BBQ. I would probably go back there someday, but only after trying other BBQ places. There are a few supposedly really good ones in Oakland that I have yet to try. Still, if you're craving some BBQ, Dickey's is an OK place to go if you're in the area. Oh and free ice cream :)

Lunch today: Prices here are pretty typical. Kind of the same as Armadillo Willy's. I got the brisket lunch basket. It was pretty good. A little dry for my taste. I haven't had the ribs, but I was told they weren't that good. The best thing here: the rolls!! So good.

Dickey's is, in a word: fantasgreat. I am particularly fond of their pulled pork and their unique traditional family-recipe Polish Sausages that do NOT taste like any Polish Sausage you've ever tasted. EVER. I'm not a big fan of brisket so I couldn't get into theirs [not a fault of Dickey's] but I did enjoy their ribs, BBQ chicken, pulled pork and sausages n' hot links on several occassions. The meat is savory and their Jalapeno BBQ sauce is deliciously zesty with just the right amount of kick to be taken seriously; but modifiable if you like to lick pure molten magma like I do. You can get as many ginormous whole dill pickles that you want as well as vanilla soft-serve ice cream. Outside of 'Red Robin', I have yet to discover another place like Dickey's that allows you to have unlimited self-crafted Root Beer Floats. This place is extremely family/kids friendly and the big yellow plastic cup per beverage'll last a very long time unless you want to leave it there @ the joint to be recycled!

Went today (Tue) to take advantage of the BOGO deal - Big BBQ Sandwich. Well, it wasn't as BIG as it looked on the website - of course, that's always the case - food in ads always look so much bigger and better than in real life. However, it did taste good and there was plenty of pulled pork in it. The bun was nice and soft enough too. I had the mac n cheese and that was also good. BF had the BBQ beans which he enjoyed. The sides aren't huge but enough. And to top it off the FREE ice cream, which we immediately made into a root beer float (in that big yellow cup). Then before leaving I added more ice cream and root beer and brought home a root beer milkshake!!! With tax, it cost $11.15 for two of us. Now that was a pretty good deal! I would go back - especially, if there's another deal or coupon that I can find. I think I've seen coupons in the Milpitas Post. And if you have a family, kids under 12 eat free after 3pm and all day Sunday.

The prices look cheap, but when you see the portions, they actually match. So, you're not getting a deal nor being ripped off. I had the ribs plate, and they were cooked slightly too long for my taste. Besides being a bit tough, I didn't enjoy the seasoning or sauce much. The corn it came with was tasteless. However, I did love the bread, and the free pickles and ice cream. The service was also fabulous. I'd go back to try some of their sandwiches.

I had the brisket and my son had the pulled pork. Both were very tasty, but I'm a little skeptical on if they were truly BBQ'ed. I had the potato salad, which was awful. It was so bad I dumped it. My son had the coleslaw and it was pretty average. Would I go there again? Maybe, but just for the meats. I'll go next door to Boston Market for the side dishes.

I like this place. Not haute cuisine by any means but that's not the point. Reasonable price and it's by the Half price book store. Friendly and patient service staff especially in dealing with my wife who insists on seeing the calorie count. I had the BBQ rib plate, no complaints there...ate the whole thing and it stayed down. Huge portions, meat was done just right and not too fatty. Fried Okra good no complaints there. Wife had the pulled pork sandwich that wasn't too dry and went down as well. Free soft serve and pickles are cool. Definitely coming back.

Being the okie redneck that I am, this place is killer! Tastes like real southern bbq! Erik and I usually order the 2 or 3 meat plate with 2 sides. Always go gaga over the smoked sausage and pulled pork! YUMMY! Finger lickin' good! The beans are mighty tasty. The sauces are killer, and the pickles! Ohhh the pickles! Two thumbs up!

Even though this place is relatively new, it feels like a place that's been around forever and not in a good way. Once we walked in, it took my wife and I a few minutes to decide what to order, but my wife had a question for the cashier. Wife: "How's the potato salad?" Cashier: "I don't know, I've never had it"... Yikes! Bad sign. Anyway, I ordered the ribs basket while my wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were pretty good, tender and a nice smoky flavor. The sides and biscuit were rather plain and nothing worth mentioning. They have rolls of paper towels at each table, which seems like a good idea, considering it's a BBQ place, but since it is BBQ there is sauce all over the roll, making it kinda nasty. I would have preferred a few wet naps. Overall the food was plain and not worth recommending. The soft-serve is pretty good though.

Tasty, simple American bbq. The pricing isn't too bad. This place is ALWAYS empty! Most importantly.... PICKLES AND ICE CREAM ON TAP, oh joy!

Horrible. I can't believe that this place is even open. The food looks and tastes so fake, and it's totally overpriced.

The food here is very average. I think that's a kind way of putting it. I have only eaten here one time, but I ordered 3 essential items of BBQ (Pulled Pork, Brisket, and Ribs) and was not impressed by any of them. The meat was dry, and definitely required a heavy amount of BBQ sauce to make it taste half-way descent. The sides weren't very good either. Corn Bread was dry. Everything is dry!!!

I usually get the big bbq sandwhich and have a pickle and ice cream after. You get to choose what type of meat and i've had pulled pork and beef brisket. I can't say which is better, they are both good. The bbq is ok, not the greatest, but i will go here just because you get the free ice cream. I've had the waffle fries and they are ok, not the greatest. The people at the counter are nice and friendly. The service is pretty fast. I usually only come here when my coworkers want to come here.

I have to stop here with the crew at least once a week. Got a stack of cups at home to prove it. Good BBQ, fast and friendly service, and low priced.

2.5 stars At first i thought it reminded of Armadillo Willys Barbeque's but taste wise .. its definitely not. Its kinda pricey, where two meats + 2 entrees = ~$15 there was a lot of sides, about a small styrofoam container worth. i had the polish sausage + ribs, and the potato salad and waffle fries. the polish was really delicious but had a lot of excessive oils leaking out of it (is this normal? i think it is..) and the ribs apparently had an odd after taste. but the bf assured that it tasted better dipped in the bbq sauce .. odd i wanted to taste the meat before i drenched it in the sauce! i had to pass on the ribs (this was what i was looking forward too!). (the bf got the chicken + brisket and the to go tray seemed a lil empty compared to mine!) waffle fries tasted like fries, no real seasoning besides salt. and the potatoe salad felt like mush i prob had 2 cubed potatoes inside .. and the rest was just really mushy, like baby food texture. the roll that comes with the meal not so bad, its a sweet roll and its really soft and fluffy. its $2 for their yellow dickey's cup + soda. but i guess the one that made me happy was the free ice cream. you can have a little Styrofoam cup or in a cone. YUM! it was sweet, creamy, and smooth ... prob made my meal :P

So I was really craving bbq so we stopped here at Dickeys. I ordered the 1 meat plate with marinated chicken breast and the potatoe casserole as my side. The chicken had a good flavor but even with the sauce drizzled on top it was still pretty dry. The potatoe casserole had a pretty good flavor. The corn on the cob was disgusting! It had no flavor and it was super mushy. The best thing about the whole meal was my warm dinner roll. This was my husband and I's first and last time eating here.

The wait was extremely long especially for a to go order but the food was very good. The ribs were delicious and fell off the bone easily. The mac and cheese was mouth watering good! But the wait was ridiculous- I missed the first 10 minutes of the Sharks game because of the wait! Not so happy about that. So only go if you have a good 45 minutes to wait.

Decent BBQ Sauce, good tasting meat and helpful and friendly staff. I ate lunch for about $10 bucks. I know the cost of good BBQ can get a bit pricy and I'm willing to pay handsomely for good BBQ but the "portion size" for Dickey's is a bit small, so double your order if you are a big eater. Dickey's will never stand up to a good "Dry Rub Texas Brisket House" or a "Wet Mop Kansas City Rib Joint" but for Fremont, CA it's ok.

Good food but would expect bigger portions to match the prices, not too bad though. Unlimited free vanilla ice cream. Good place to take the kiddos

Highlights: Free soft-serve vanilla ice cream [self-serve] Free large dill pickles [also self-serve] I've tried 2 of their sandwiches. The pulled pork sandwich and the beef brisket. Neither sandwich looked too appetizing. The color of the meat was dull and looked dry. After biting into the sandwich, it was clear that both sandwiches by themselves are rather plain and bland. I was expecting to taste rich BBQ flavors but tasted none. It is necessary to use the small cup of BBQ sauce given to add flavor to the meat! If you can, maybe scoop yourself another cup of that sauce-- you might need it depending how moist and flavorful you like your meats. The beef brisket was noticeable more tender and moist than the pork though. Despite the sandwiches looking small, they're actually quite filling. The bread is ok. Nothing fancy. 2 sides I had were the waffle iron fries and the baked potato casserole. The waffle iron fries were surprisingly good. They weren't burnt or too crispy. The fries managed to maintain their moisture inside and are best eaten hot. The baked potato casserole came in a very very small container. It was just mashed potatoes with bacon bits covered in melted cheese. It wasn't too great. The soft-serve vanilla ice cream is delicious and it's free! Will I be going back to eat their sandwiches? Only if I'm craving some of that tasty vanilla ice cream and crunchy dill pickles.

I didn't like the food at all and neither did my boyfriend. He had the brisket, potato salad, and baked beans. And he wasn't pleased. I had the pulled Pork, Mac & cheese, potato casserole....mmm ya I didn't like it. It was either dry or lacked flavor. The little rOlestra it come with are good though *. and the ice cream wad good too ^_^

Just got back from Dickey's and it was just okay. I gave them the benefit of the doubt despite reading all the not-so positive reviews here on Yelp. I ordered the three meat platter (Sausage, Beef Brisket, Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Baked Beans). The portions wer quite small for being a $15 platter so if you're really hungry then this might not be enough for you. The best meat on my plate was probably the sausage. The beef brisket fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my fork and required BBQ sauce to give it taste. The pork ribs had a weird aftertaste and were horribly dry...I drenched it in sauce but that didn't help much. The sides were good but I wasn't here for that. The sweet tea was tasty...a little on the sweet side but if you add enough ice to water it down then it was fine. They also have free soft-serve ice-cream which was good but no hot fudge or other toppings were available. BYOHC (Bring Your Own Hot Caramel).

My hunny and I have dined here a few times now, and I have to say that I'm a fan. Usually we get the small pulled pork sandwich, fries, the medium beef brisket sandwich, and an iced tea. If we're feeling super hungry, we might add in a baked potato or something. The place is clean, they give free icecream and pickles (yum!) and they don't leave me with a vaguely queasy feeling like Kinder's.

This place is a set above Armadillo Willy's but it's not Texas BBQ by any means. The Good: - The roll was buttery and really tasty - The sweet tea was really sweet tea. Way better than McDonald's (which is tasty but not really sweet tea...) - Free Ice cream is win, and it tasted great, creamy, light, without a soft-serve aftertaste - The fries were mmmm good - Caesar Salad was surprisingly good - The spicy sauce was spicy and tasty. (the mild was a bit too sweet for me, but some might like it.) The Bad: - The meat. The ribs were tender but short on flavor - The meat. The brisket was tender but short on flavor - The meat. The sausage wasn't as good as Hilshire Farms, and short on flavor. (salty.) - did I mention that there was no smokey flavor? None at all? - NOT cheap. $18 for lunch... (although I did get a 3 meat plate) You know that when you walk up to a TX BBQ joint and you can't smell it and there is no smoke coming out of it that you aren't really in for anything special. Applebee's next door is a better choice for ribs. All of the meats were carriers for the admittedly decent BBQ sauce. It tasted passable as that, but definitely not something that I'd categorize as tasty. My wife grew up in TX and would definitely not call this TX BBQ. Sad, because the sides that I tried were pretty good.

A great place to eat if you are a meat-eater - not so much if you're a vegan. Dickey's offers a good array of meats - brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and sausages. They also have a nice list of sides like baked potato, mashed potato, some veggies, and waffle fries. You also get soft-serve ice cream as well. The prices is what probably makes this place appealing. The place seems to be set up for groups - though I have never actually been there when it was "busy". There's always one or two families and a couple of tables filled with people.

I've been here many times and am finally getting around to writing a review. This past Sunday is our last visit to this Dickies. Last year we bought 3 groupon deals, plus we ate there a few more times. Anyway, the star rating is based on 6 or more visits here. This past Sunday EVERY piece of meat was cold, food wasn't brought out at the same time (even though we requested it) because my potato was going to take 10 minutes. Everyone else in the party ate (most of) their meal while I continued to wait, wait, wait, and wait for my potato. I finally just asked for a refund and enjoyed pickles and ice cream.

My dad and I went here looking for some BBQ. We each had the two meat meals. I had the brisket and turkey breast, my dad had the ribs and the chicken. For the price, they give you a decent amount of food. I'm not a BBQ aficionado or do I claim to be one but to me, it didnt taste like a lot of time went into the prep and the meat was dry. The turkey breast was also dry. The ribs were the best tasting meat as the chicken was bland also. The side dishes were actually good. Given the lack of real BBQ places in Fremont, this place is good. But when I think of BBQ, this place doesnt come first in mind.

Dickie's is home of the all you can eat pickles and soft serve ice cream with any purchase! I came here this weekend to "check out" the newest BBQ joint in Fremont. I have to say that it was decent but nothing to write home about. Here is what I ordered: Two Meat Combo with: Meats: BBQ spear ribs & beef brisket Sides: Mac and Cheese and Chris cut fries. First lets talk about the meats. The brisket had good flavor but was not moist or juicy. It was a little too dry for my taste but I drenched it with BBQ sauce so that it would go down smoother. The BBQ ribs were pretty good as they used a dry rub and was pretty tender. The meat came off the bone quite easy however I would have preferred more smoke in my meat. The ribs were much better than the brisket. My side were pretty good. The Mac and cheese needed a little salt but other than that it was to par. My fries were delicious! Fried to perfection with a nice crisp when you bite into it. Another cool gimmick Dickie's has it eh Big Yellow Drink cup program where when you buy a large drink ($1.99) you can bring it back the next time you come in for your meal and get your drink for a dollar. Overall decent meal however I don't think I would make a special trip to Dickie's just for BBQ. Maybe if I was in the area already and was craving BBQ. I would equate Dickie's to a Armadillo Willies....large chain BBQ restaurants that offer semi decent food.

I ordered a 1 meat combo plate (beef brisket), which came with 2 sides, i picked mac and cheese (big mistake) and coldslaw. The coldslaw was delicious, nice texture and flavor, while the mac n cheese tasted like something that came from a box and to make it worst, like leftovers. The beef brisket on the other hand was nice tender and very flavorful and goes great with their hot bbq sauce!

Finally writing my review on Dicks. Been here a total of 2 times, it was definitely something different but definitely not a place you will see on Diners, Drive-Thrus, and Dives. Service is good, not too crowded and loud like most places. Portions are large, you can either pick 1-3 meats plus your choice of 2 sides. I recommend the BBQ pulled pork, Brisket, and BBQ chicken. My friend said the ribs were good, I'm not a rib person but if he is saying its good, it's good. Don't get the sausage/hot links whatever it was, it was really bland. The chicken portions seem alot smaller than the beef portions too. Sides that are worthwhile: waffle fries, the mashes potato salad (basically just mashed potatoes), and mac n cheese. The potato salad was decent but I prefer everything else I mentioned above before that. All their meats are pretty bland though, def needs more seasoning, so I recommend dunking everything in their hot bbq sauce. Highlights: Free self-serve frozen yogurt, if you wanna be different, take a cup fill it up with yogurt and add some rootbeer from the fountain, the black guy that works there suggested it, I was like in my head why are u promoting people to steal rootbeer? Free ginormo pickles if those tickle your fancy, lots of free toppings...bacon bits, cheese, etc. Their cups are reusable and you can bring it in the next time your there I heard. Not sure if you need to pay another fillage fee or how cool it would look to carry a yellow cup inside. I def prefer Dickey's over Kinders for the fact that you get more bang for you buck here and they don't serve you FAT.

Food is okay here......... meat is pretty bland; not enough spice and seasoning for my taste. The free soft serve is always a welcome treat in my book.........however.... And although I know it's a bbq/country place.......... there's only so much xm radio, non stop country music I can take before I can feel my food coming back up. :) sue ann

This was the most disgusting meal I've ever had. Plus it was $25.00 for 2 meals, super over priced for the crap they serve. I was shocked when I saw the plate arrive. Everything looked processed and oddly light in color. The mac n cheese was runny, the bacon bits on the mash potatoes were light pink. The ribs were perfect rectangles in shape, weird. The ribs and brisket were dry and had no flavor. I should have returned it and asked for my money back but I didn't want to be like that. When leaving one of the workers asked me "how was it". I said I didn't like it. He asked how can they improve. I can't even remember what I said. I was so shocked at the whole experience. Afterwards I felt like I had a brick in my stomach from the little I did eat.

Lunch time on a Saturday and only 1 cashier?? It wasn't crowded but we had to wait for some time due to 1 cashier situation. Got our food, and my god, the meat was dry and tasteless! The bread/ roll that came with my plate reminded me of the Safeway pack dinner rolls ~ almost rubbery. Yuck. The only good thing was, you can help yourselves to as much bbq sauce and pickles as you want (so I can try to flavor the meat). FYI, real good bbq meat don't even need more sauce to eat with. Yeah, I will help myself and not go back again.

I think if my bf yelped he would give this place 5 stars. He LOVED it. On the other hand, I don't quite think its 5 stars.. I'll give it 4 stars. The prices seemed kinda pricey to me.. but i dunno i did get really full and still have leftovers so maybe it was ok? I dunno. But anyways, if you get the plate things it's a nice little combo of meat(s) and sides and yummy bread. The most exciting part was when i saw the sign saying "FREE ICE CREAM". =D Another exciting part was seeing the huge jar of whole pickles, free as well! Those were nice little bonuses. I wouldn't mind coming back, but I don't see it as a place i'd go to that often.

From what I understand, this Fremont location is the first Northern California franchise for Dickey's Barbecue Pit, which originated in Dallas, Texas. I'm surprised that the reviews on Yelp so far have been so extreme (even discarding the obviously fake reviews). I guess this is the kind of place that you either love it or hate it. For me, I do like this place just fine. Food is served quickly; people who work there are friendly; and the BBQ, while obviously is not the best, is pretty good given the type of establishment this is. Luckily, we came on a Sunday, which means that kids under 12 eat free when accompanied by an adult. The kid's meal is normally $4.29 and has a choice of nuggets, child's meat plate or child's sandwich, all served with one side and a drink. My daughter had the nuggets, caesar salad and lemonade, and she loved it. Both my wife and I had a sandwich with one side ($6.98). There's something for everybody when it comes to choices of meat include beef brisket, polish sausage, pulled pork, pork ribs, turkey breast and chicken breast. I thought that the pulled pork was a little dry but still tasty. My wife really enjoyed the turkey breast. Another nice thing about this place is that they give you free soft-serve ice cream everyday. One negative thing about this place is that they give out large plastic "souvenir" cups with their $1.99 drinks. I don't understand their rationale for this, as most people will end up throwing away these cups. It is simply too wasteful of a practice to our environment. Bottom Line: All in all, not bad for a quick service type BBQ place!

I came here and the place was dead! I ordered a Rib Plate. Comes with 2 sides, a dinner roll and garnished with dill pickle slices and raw onions sliced very thin. The ribs were good and tender to the point that the meat falls off the bone. Sides I ordered were macaroni and cheese (sea shell type that's cheesy and hot) and cole slaw (not too crazy about it.) The walls in this place has pictures of the restaurant's history. Prices are a bit high for 1 person. I would rather go to Armadillo Willy's. What stands out about this place is FREE soft serve ice cream and next to it, a HUGE jar of dill pickles. Next time, I gotta try them!

This is the first time Ive been to Dicky's. I asked the counter gal if the meat was smoked. She assured me that it was. I ordered the Ribs and Brisket Plate W/ Mac and Cheese and BBQ Beans. #1 The Meat didnt looked smoked. Rather steamed or boiled. When ribs and brisket are smoked there should be a pink smoke ring around the edges of the meat. The ribs and brisket were lacking this. #2 The brisket had a plastic look to it. It also was very dry and crumbly. Had no smokey flavor and was very chewy. I put it in the beans in order to eat it. #3 The ribs were ok but still lacked that smokey flavor. They were also bland as if they were boiled. The bbq sauce had to be used to give them flavor. #4 the mac and cheese was ok and the beans were ok. Nothing special though. #5 They do have free soft serve ice cream. I think they should sell the ice cream and give away the meat. #6 very expensive for the quality of food. A mcrib from mcdonalds is a better value. I will not eat there again.

Excellent place if you like to get robbed. Seriously they charge 10.99 for a combo plate, you get two sizes and a portion of meat that would make a grown man cry. The taste is excellent if you enjoy paying high prices for boiled meat with sauce poured over it. The only thing worth going here for, in my opinion, is the free ice cream, and that potato casserole side. Other then that, don't touch with a 10 foot pole

Two Words: Pulled Pork. SO good. Honestly, if you are looking for an affordable Famous Dave's tasting BBQ, this place is good. Now I've been to the Saltlick in Austin (OMG! ) and a few great places in Dallas. And NO, it's not phenomenal BBQ. But for the love of Pete folks it's a FAST FOOD BBQ CHAIN in FREMONT! The sides are good. I've had the mac and cheese, the baked potato casserole (mashed potatoes with stuff in em), the coleslaw and the beans. Love the beans and the coleslaw. I've also had the sausage (meh, not enough flavor for me) and the ribs (decent) and the brisket (can be good, can be average). But the pulled pork man, never disappoints. Order it by the pound, grab a large side of Coleslaw and another of Beans take it home and feed the family. Or eat in and have some free ice cream and some really good giant pickles.

Ehhhh....it's edible. The bbq isn't that bad but not the greatest. 2.5 stars. I've never had the pickles. Is that container, much less those pickle tongs ever cleaned or sanitized throughout the day??

A bbq place with a fast food set up but with traditional bbq pricing. A 3 meat combo will run you about $17, but it's good for 2 peeps to share. It's a chain restaurant so I'm sure all the food comes already prepared and the fast food employees just have to reheat and serve. Which is not a bad thing b/c most bbq joints all smoke their meats in batches and just reheats the food to order. And by smoking all their meats in one place insures quality and consistency. So don't get turned off if you don't see billows of hardwood smoke anywhere, cuz it ain't there. But there is some smoke flavor on their meats albeit not as bold and present as other legit bbq joints I've frequented. The brisket is okay but tends to shred/crumble which is an indication of being overcooked. It's nicer when it's tender to the chew but still slice-able. The pork ribs are very meaty and quite tender but just lacks the bold flavor that comes from a good rub. Actually all the meats are a little bland here, which requires you to use a lot of their bbq sauce, which isn't really a bad thing cuz their sauce is actually quite nice. It's the thinner style and not the thick glue-y crap you find in bottles. Also FREE large whole dill pickles for the grabbin' from a huge pickle jar and FREE soft serve ice cream. Are they trying to attract pregnant women here or what?!

I love coming to Dickeys to get some decent priced BBQ. I've been here several times, according to all the Big Yellow Cups we have in our house! I've tried several of the different meats, but now I usually get the Big BBQ sandwich with sliced beef brisket, while my wife gets the pulled pork meal. Along with the sweet tea, they have all-you-can-eat vanilla soft-serve. I usually get 2 cones after my meal. The price is very reasonable, and you can feed your family very cheap, since Sundays kids under 12 eat free.

Dicky's is good, not great but its the little things that bump it up to 4 stars. I ordered the three meat meal: Links, Pulled Pork & Beef Brisket. I was not a fan of the Brisket. It was almost too tender (is too tender really possible?) and felt like mush while eating it. I'm big on texture and this just wasn't workin for me. The Sausage Links did a little better. They weren't to greasy and the spicy BBQ sauce tasted really good on them. The Pulled Pork was my favorite out of the three meats. Very tender, good flavor and again worked well with the spicy BBQ sauce. The meat was ok but can't compare to Everett and Jones. I heart Everett and Jones tho. The sides were awesome. I had the Mac and Cheese - creamy, cheesy, rich. It doesn't taste homemade but is WAAAAYYY better then anything you could get at KFC or out of the blue box. **Not hating on Kraft because I get down with the blue box blues** My other side was the potato casserole. Mashed Potatoes, Cheese, Bacon, Chives - doesn't get much better then that. Next time, I will skip one of the meats and order some cris-cut fries. The sides alone don't bump it up to 4 stars. The real gem in this place is the fact that they offer free99 PICKLES and SOFT SERVE!! OH EM GEE, I was in heaven. Final verdict: Meat = MEH Sides = WIN

My mom asked me to write a review for her. So these are her comments: "A big thanks to Dickey's BBQ in Fremont. I recently hired Dickey's to cater my Mother-in-law's 90th b-day party in the park. Matt Sanders, the manager, was always available and flexible, and listened to my instructions and wishes for the food carefully. He accommodated us in many ways. The party was great, everyone asked for ribs to take home. The price per person was a good value. Thanks Dickey's!"

It it were possible to rate this a zero or negative star, I would. First, I love BBQ. The best BBQ is usually made at some back wood country place or in the heart of the Ghetto. There are two other places in Fremont that do a pretty good job (both Mom and Pop operations). I went to Dickey's on a whim after buying some books at the Half Price Bookstore. First, the menu is very deceptive. It clearly states that you can pick your meat for $6.95 (including the ribs). However, when we made our purchase the pork ribs were more expensive. Now a $1.60 is not a whole lot to cry about, I felt that the menu should be more clear and told the manager my thoughts. He obviously brushed off my suggestions which in my book is a definite No-No. The meat was terrible! BBQ is supposed to be marinated and cooked over a hot flame. The brisket looked like it was boiled. There was NO flavor whatsoever. Even the sauce looked watered down and purchased from the local Costco. My wives pork ribs were nearly as bad - they looked baked. Again, no real flavor. I suspect due to poor customer service, bad food, and poor location that the place will fail. The manager needs a course in management 101. Never again. If you want BBQ in Fremont, go to Carmen's or the place on Grimmer and Fremont Blvd.

Some of my coworkers always pick up Dickey's on their lunch break, and always get the pulled pork sandwich and claim how amazing it is. I'm confused, did I get the wrong pulled pork sandwich? Because mine was bland, the meat very dry, and it was overall unappetizing. I came with a friend and we ordered an entree with ribs, corn on the cob, bread, and fried okra. We also got the pulled pork sandwich with (I think, my memory fails me), potato salad. The ribs were okay, the corn on the cob was blah, and the bread roll tasted like bread. The pulled pork sandwich really threw me off though.. I expected it to be good, but like I said it was not too appetizing because it was dry, and didn't have much else in the sandwich.. could have really used some tomatoes or something! The pros? The service was helpful and friendly...and I definitely appreciated the free pickles and ice cream. Dosher pickles are much better, but hey I won't complain because the Dickey's pickle is free...and the ice cream is delicious after a hearty meal. Unless a friend really insists on it, I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here for my BBQ fix.

Very underwhelming. I ordered the pork ribs, along with a side of mac and cheese and the baked potato casserole (basically mashed potatoes with cheese and the like, lol). EVERYTHING was pretty medicore. It had the potential to be good, but everything was flavorless. Well, they have free soft serve.

It's weird that the chicken is better than the beef at a BBQ joint, but based on my very scientific bite of each, I conclude the chicken at Dickey's is better. It's not that the beef was bad, but the chicken was just THAT good. I like their reusable plastic cups too. Later, when I use it for ice water, I can reminisce about the delicious meat. I wish they'd bring a Dickey's to Sacramento. Well, kinda. If they did, I probably couldn't fit my jeans anymore, so maybe it's better this way.

Had their lil hoagie with sliced beef brisket and it was pretty good, I drenched it in their hot bbq sauce and had it with a nice pickle. Hubby had the turkey lil hoagie and he wasn't impressed by it. Our food took forever, we waited half an hour for them to bring our 2 hoagies out to our table, I guess 'cause it was lunch time. They have soft serve ice cream, and being preggers, ice cream and pickles are yummy :D

I've always debated about Kinder's and Dickey's, and I've come to decide that both are equally good. The chopped beef brisket was juicy tender and with the just right amount of fat and the kiss of smoke. The sausage was deliciously spiced and I love the snap of the casing when you bite into it. The potato salad also got a nice mustard-y and vinegar kick to it compare to other generic ones. I don't like to use BBQ sauce at all, but I find the ribs could use a bit of help from the sauce. 4 stars...very satisfying.

This place has a tasty pulled pork sandwich. I work nearby and will be coming back. I got the sandwich along with a side of waffle fries (criss cut fries) I signed up with their Yellow Cup Club and got my free yellow cup or else it would have been $2. Its reuseable and you just bring it everytime you are either around or planning to eat again. Dont toss it, keep it or bring it home to add to your cup collection. Yes its a big cup, doesnt mean you have to fill it up to the rim with soda, 1/2 is fine with me. Even though I got my food to go I was still able to snag a huge pickle from the jar and on my way out got a soft serve ice cream to enjoy while driving back to work. You will need their sauce to enjoy their sandwiches, they arent meant to eat without the sauce. I did try a piece of the pulled pork before I put the sauce on it, it was tender and moist. I think its a good idea that they serve their bbq sandwiches this way or else you would have a soggy & nasty bun by the time you get home/work. The hot bbq sauce is flavorful with a bit of heat. I havent tried the mild. Waffle fries were hot and crispy. They also have a delivery buffet option in which you can order for your home or office parties. Ill post the menu in the photo section (sorry if its sideways) so then you can see the prices.

I came here for lunch with a friend of mine, and we both got the pulled pork sandwich. I got the waffle fries, and she got the baked beans. I very much enjoyed the sandwich and fries.... it was actually hard to stop eating after I was full. Then I had a little free ice cream cone. The ice cream cone wasn't worth the calories, but the fries sure were!! That's all I've had so far. The service at the counter was friendly, and there were employees walking around and asking you if you needed anything else. I didn't get the drink that only comes in one size: GI-NORMOUS. I opted for water with lemon instead. I think I'll try a baked potato side next time. I noticed there were fresh toppings for it: shredded cheese, green onions, and some other items I glanced over. Sour cream, I think? The pulled pork was very tender, and you put your own BBQ sauce on it. I like that it's an option. We all like different amounts of sauce on our food, right? It would've been better if the bread weren't so white and soft. I think a french roll would've been better.... is that bad? Just something with a little more texture. Still, it tasted really good! So it doesn't have much ambiance, outside the old photos of Dickey's all through time, but it's a good place for some basic BBQ with friends.

So Ive heard so many great things about Dickeys bbq. I had the chance to try it today..I think the brisket sandwich was awesome it was tender and the bun was soft. the sauce was just right. I think overall the food was good. The restraunt itself was dirty. the service sucked...the girl who took our order sneezed 3x and sneezed toward the food...grosss! cover your mouth please....Not sure if I will return just becuz of the service..two employess saw us looking for a clean seat as all of thee seats that were available had not been cleaned...they walked right past us...we had to wipe down our own table and clean our own area food on the floor it was not a good experience...

I love the sausage platter served at Dickey's BBQ. Ever since Armadillo Willy's went in the dumper, I've been searching for a good hot links platter. Claim jumper is great too but it just doesn't fill that greasy BBQ pit in my stomach. Dickey's on the other hand, is just great. The food is good and greasy, but not too greasy. They have a great tangy mild BBQ sauce and the hot BBQ sauce has some great kick to it. Dickey's also has all my favorite sodas and a nice sweet iced tea that I don't need to add any sweetener to. Parking is usually available, but ever since the Applebees opened up next door, the lot can fill up. Try parking on the other side towards the south side.

My gripe is with the portions. I ordered the two meat combo for about $14.00 and these clowns served me 2 ribs and 2 slices of of brisket.

I had the brisket and the bbq pulled pork. The brisket was a little better than the pulled pork and the pulled pork I didn't like at all. I did like the fact that they had free ice cream but even the free ice cream tasted a little off.

Went today for lunch and had the pulled pork "Little Hoagie" and a Caesar salad side. Hubby had the pulled pork as well and a side of waffle iron fries. Overall the food was just okay. The pork wasn't all the tender, and the BBQ sauce was a bit too tangy and vinegary for my taste. I know people love the free soft serve ice cream, but when it is grainy, runny, cheap ice cream, I don't view that as a plus. I'd much rather go to Maggie Ray's in Alamo for BBQ.

I love BBQ. This place is just OK. The sandwiches could use more meat. The prices are good and you get free self-serve pickles (in the plastic barrel) and free soft serve ice cream I think you get a deal on your drink if you return with your original cup. I'll come back when I'm in the area and in the mood for BBQ, but I wouldn't drive far to get here. Everett & Jones is my favorite..

I was real disappointed with the bbq. I called in the evening to ask if we needed reservation since we were driving from San Jose. They said that wont be necessary. I asked if they are super busy about 7pm. They said it would be okay. When we got here it was dead. I didn't know that it was more of a fast food joint. My bf says it was an over priced Arby's. I had the 3 meat dinner plate and my bf had the 2 meat dinner plate. The brisket was dried, the ribs weren't what I expected. The sausage was about the best thing besides the soft serve ice cream. I didn't like the macaroni was so disappointing for it didn't taste nor did it look cheesy...The fries were kinda soggy and plain. GOSH, I MISS SPARKY MALARKY'S!!!!!!!! Although the employees were very pleasant, we will not be taking another 20 min drive there but it was another experience at a new place.

Being from the BBQ capital of the world (Memphis, TN) I have been on the hunt for BBQ in the bay area for the last 8 years. I had found this great mom and pop shop in Newark but they closed. A coworker of min alerted me to this new place so yesterday I made the drive over the Dumbarton ridge just to try out this BBQ pit. Its no Corkys, Interstate,Neelys or any of the other fine Memphis BBQ joints but ... it has juicy and tender pulled pork! I was so happy to have pulled pork piled high with slaw and BBQ sauce I didn't notice the music others are commenting on - hey we are there to eat and enjoy times with friends right? My sides included: potato salad - it was better than most west coast potato salad since it actually had mustard in it but it was a little softer than I like but still yummy - peppered just right! mac -n-cheese - never knew this was a BBQ staple but its shells in chese and very, very cheesey - makes you think homemade but its not tastes like the kind out of a box - again good but not spectacular Slaw- was good and yummy In addition to the sandwich bread the meal came with a buttered yeast roll - yummy, yummy I truly hope okra is coming as the other posters have mentioned. They have a variety of sides next time I'll get a baked potato since they have a fixins bar and try the beans. The pickle was huge and delicious and the soft serve just enough sweetness to top off the meal at no additional charge. I agree with others on the big yellow cups - they need to add a recycle area to drop these in to - I ended up bringing mine home just to make sure it made it to a recycle bin. I checked out the website and they are bringing one of these to mountain view and I cannot wait!! I recommend you try this place the pulled pork is just so juicy! Staffing at this location - Eager to serve maybe a little too eager wiping the table down before we had left.

They have good customer service, the cashiers are really nice and they even bring the food to your table if you're eating in as well as clean it up for you. The pull porked is really good, the ribs not so much. The ribs tend to be a little over cooked and dry sometimes. They're really shady on the mashed potato casserole (or whatever it's called) and the mac & cheese could be a little less cheesy. Seems like they just drench it in cheese. Those 2 side dishes weren't too apetizing. But I got over it, quickly. You can't really go wrong, decently priced, decently portioned AND big size drinking cups with all the refills as you please AND self serve soft ice cream in a cone OR a cup. I mean, as far as this place goes, I'm satisfied.

discovered this while looking for dinner. was expecting to eat at the restaurant next door but didn't feel like eating a sandwich. Keep in mind that i am not a BBQ expert. i find that the food is yummy. of course i don't expect amazing BBQ from this place, it is a fast food chain. i ordered the texas style chopped beef brisket with mac & cheese and waffle fries. I ordered the picnic pack and found that feeding 4 ppl for $32 isn't bad at all. i liked that they recycle/reuse their yellow cups and also offer free self serve ice cream in cones. i will come again.

Decent food at a reasonable price with fast service. Of course it does not hold up to Everett and Jones or another BBQ place in OAK or SF, but still passable and the only BBQ place in this area.

I have to say I have been here more then once. It's my family's go to place when were are shopping around town or just get a hungry bug. Us girls love the free pickles and the everyone loves the root beer floats i make for them as our going away gift from the soft serve. 1 plate really fills and the butter biscuits are to die for.. Yummy!

Hubby and I got take out here today for late lunch/early dinner. I had previously signed up for the e-club on the Dickey's web site and had 2 coupons that were expiring soon...1 coupon for a free large drink, and one "birthday" coupon that was a BOGO for a sandwhich. Since we had not been here before, we wanted to try the most meats/sides possible. Hubby and I both ordered the $6 2 meat sandwhich (one was free with my coupon) that comes with cheese, onions, sauce and pickle slices; Hubby had polish sausage and chopped brisket and I ordered Hot Links and Pulled Pork. For sides ($2 each) we got Mac n' Cheese, Baked Potato casserole, BBQ Beans, and Potato Salad...definitely not the healthiest options, but the sides that we really wanted to try as I consider the quality of the beans, mac n' cheese, and potato salad of a bbq place almost as important as the meat when judging a bbq place. There was a rather large family that had ordered ahead of us, so our order took quite some time to prepare. During the wait we helped ourselves to a small cup of ice cream and packaged a pickle and some bbq sauces to take home. I never understand the long wait times at bbq places...isn't all the food already prepared and they are just dishing stuff up? It isn't like they are cooking meat to order! Plus, it seems like a lot of bbq places are just as slow when they are busy as they are when you are the only one in the joint. What is up with that? Minus 1 star for being slow. I ended up eating my sandwhich de-constructed with a fork, it was pretty messy. The hot link slices were good, smokey flavor, some heat but not insanely spiced. They tasted the best when dipped into the mild bbq sauce. The pulled pork was ok, definitely better when eaten with the "hot" bbq sauce, which I didn't think was all that spicy. Hubby's brisket was good. He liked the polish sausage, but I didn't find it to be anything special. The sides were pretty disappointing (minus 1 more star) with the exception of the baked potato casserole. The potato salad was like cold mashed potatoes with some vinegar and sweet pickle relish mixed in. The mac n cheese was creamy, but not super flavorful/cheesy. The bbq beans were incredibly salty and were not particularly flavorful either. We both agreed that a can of Bush's baked/bbq beans would have been better, and that's pretty sad. The baked potato casserole was like eating mashed potatoes mixed with sour cream and green onions and topped with cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and more green onion. Pretty yummy; but must be incredibly unhealthy! Bottom line: Hubby and I decided that next time we're in Dickey's territory and want some bbq, we'd just order some meats by the pound ($10.95/lb) and a pint of the baked potato casserole ($3.50) to go.

$13 for BBQ chicken + 2 sides (I chose fries + caesar salad +biscuit) + small soda. Free ice cream and pickles. Overall, I was pleased with my experience at Dickies. The food came out very fast, so this makes this an easy lunch spot during work days. One thing we noticed is the meats don't taste particularly BBQ'd, but the spicy BBQ sauce makes up for it. Portions are plentiful, and I definitely left with leftovers.

Stumbled upon Dickey's last night while doing some car shopping. Really glad that we did! Great place for the kids and it happened to be "kids eat free night" (Sunday) which was all the better. Family of four out of there for about $25. Not the greatest BBQ admittedly, but it's good enough and will leave you full (e.g., large portions). Great selection of different meats (2 different kinds of brisket, sausage, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, etc.) and sides (okra!, beans, fries, cole slaw, potato salad, etc.). I had the ribs and chopped brisket, both were very good. I tried some of my wife's sliced brisket, that was a little dry in my opinion. They also have free giant pickles and ice cream, which made the kids and us quite happy!

My husband and I checked out this place over the weekend. We really weren't sure what to expect and this place is somewhere between fast food and a restaurant. Which is odd to begin with, but I'm over it. We got our order to go and headed home. Upon arriving we noticed that they had forgotten the fries we had ordered. My husband called them and they got our address which he assumed was to send us a refund or a coupon...whatever.. nope! They sent someone out and delivered the missing items along with some pie as a bonus. (I have added a star for this service). The food itself was good, we all had the pulled pork so I don't know about the other meats. The sides were good as well. However the prices seems a bit high for what we got. For glorified fast food it was a bit pricey. I might give it another shot since their customer service was so excellent.

Love this place. Kids eat free on Sundays and other weekdays (check with restaurant as those days change). The parking is a little tight as it shares a public lot wtih Applebees and Prolific Oven. There is an outside eating area. The waffle fries are so good. I know, weird to start there since it is a BBQ joint, but me and the kids love them in the sauce! I love the ribs. They are tender and juicy. I don't even dip these in the sauce because the rub is very flavorful. My favorite is the smokehouse salad. This is full of flavor and fresh. It's topped with their brisket and not overloaded in dressing. Another item worth trying is the hot links. These are just right spicey. If you're interested in a quick lunch, they offer sandwich combo's. These are always priced right for lunch. Throughout the week they will have different specials. The price is good and the food is very good.

First of all, EXPENSIVE. You have to pay extra for sides and drinks....sure you get free ice cream and pickle with your big rack of ribs or chicken, but you have to pay extra for everything else. A 2 person lunch will cost you like $30. Food isn't even tasty. Armadillo Willy's is 10x better than this expensive place.

  • Alexander T.

I ordered a Really Big Po' Boy with brisket and I've got to say... it was not very big at all. The meat was kind of dry and I had to slather it with bbq sauce (which tasted pretty good) to make it appetizing. The free ice cream is the best part of eating here, it's really tasty for soft serve.

  • Gerald Q.

I thought this place is decent, ofcourse not the best. Some of the stuff in their menu are not worth to try though; like the sandwiches and the hoagies which are pretty cheap but are like mini sizes. The sides are pretty good. The loaded mash potatoes is pricey, but it should fill you up by itself. Combo meals are about $10-11. The bbq was ok. I'd come back though.

The sides and the bread were the only things that could help save this joint. This BBQ was just gross steamed meats.

Dickeys is an average bar-b-que restaruant in basically every way. The food is good but not great and the prices match. This wouldn't be my first choice of restaruant for any type of bar-b-que whether it be chicken, pork or beef. The meals are satisfying and will fill you up if you are just marginally hungy however if you are looking for a monsterous portion this isn't the place to go. Also there isn't anything special or memorable about their bar-b-que sauce. I am sure they make it themselves or its a Dickeys special brand but it tastes just like some random store bought bottle. Sides are just sides. Theyll fill you up but nothing in particular is note worthy. A big plus though is they provide FREE all you can eat soft servce ice cream to all customers.

A great place to get fast BBQ at a good price. They offer very good side dishes along with the meats.. Take advantage of their online coupons and its the best deal in town. If you like a good variety of meats to try and free ice cream to finish it off then this place will fill your needs. I love the chicken breast and the mac and cheese. Great take out.

I'll pass. Way overpriced for what you get in terms of portion size. Also, when you give your food order to a girl at the cash register who has all these piercings and crap in her face doesn't do the appetite much good. The manager who hired her needs a lesson or two. I must say, the food tastes okay, at best. There is a reason why this place is always EMPTY. There is nothing special here. Will not be returning.

  • Ambar G.

I was excited as they took a while to open up. First time I went I order 2 meat with beef and pork macaroni and beans. Like everyone is saying, my meat was also dry, no exactly a barbecue flavor. I liked the beans. The macaroni was shell type and barely had flavor. There were lots of employees working making it kinda crowded in ordering area. A small scoop of vanilla ice cream is free for customers as well as ice water, kids eat free on sundays. I guess these things entice you to forget about the quality of the barbecue. Pros are service, free stuff. Cons flavor of the meat. I am going to try different plate a sides next time, giving them a second chance. I would rather go to a mom and pop barbecue...

I had lunch here a couple of times now and the Pulled pork sandwiches are great. The strong point of this place is the sauce. It's really really good. And the serving size is pretty decent, you can't complain about the amount of meat, but the price is a little high. The sides are excellent too. If this place was a better value I'd rate it higher, but I'll be back... 'cause it taste gooooood ;D Much better than Armadillo Willies...

Whenever I'm in or near Fremont, this is the place where I could usually be found for lunch or dinner. Besides the good BBQ, they also have nice dill pickles, soft serve ice cream and a really awesome sweet tea. I have been here many times and they have never let me down.

YUM! I'm always down for good barbecue. Highlights are the beef brisket, unlimited whole dill pickles (drool), AND free soft serve ice cream (great for making root beer floats)!

If you want "real" BBQ which tastes better in sauce, quality of meat, portion size, and price, go to Southern Heritage BBQ in Fremont. Look it up on Yelp. Sure it's a dive, but it beats the hell out of Dickey's when you are craving BBQ but don't find yourself in KC/ATL/Memphis/TX/etc.

People here are friendly. Nice environment. Every time I come here I get the ribs plate with a side order of waffle fries yumm. Best ribs I've had in the area. And you get free ice cream with your real. If you bring back your cup back. The place is fairly clean and usually have plenty of room for big parties. IF you like BBQ but don't want to do it yourself come here!

I was at Joann's Fabric and was starving and grumpy. So Dickey's was right across the street and I decided to try it although I do not like BBQ that much. I had the pulled pork with mac and cheese and waffle fries. My boyfriend had sausage and the beef. The pulled pork was really moist and delicious. The mac and cheese was delicious and so was the fries. The sausage was also good. I don't understand why they chop up the beef into million of pieces though. That could have been better. They have a soft serve icecream machine that is free. That's a super plus! Overall, I would probably go there again for some BBQ.

  • James V.

I was not too thrilled with this place, especially since I'd heard good things about it. The bbq was pretty average, and the sides below average. Had the brisket and pork, tried my girl's chicken and ribs. I did like the complimentary pickle jar though.

I was happy when they first opened since there are not a lot of BBQ places around the area. The BBQ taste is average. I particularly like thier spicy BBQ sauce. One low point is they don't serve ribs. I also like that they have free ice cream. With the soda fountain and ice cream oustide, you can have all you can drink root beer floats.

The pulled pork sandwich was very good! My wife's turkey was okay. The inside tries to create some ambiance in a strip mall setting. We would eat here again.

When I went inside this restaurant, the service was friendly, but felt the prices were high, but tried it anyway.....The beef bisket was dry and had no real Barbeque smoke flavor, ...they must just cook everything in an oven..even the ribs were weak in flavor, and their BBQ sauce tasted like a so so bottled BBQ sauce ..NOT MADE FROM SCRATCH. The only good item I liked was their rolls.. but for 32 bux for 2 people to me was way over priced, and not much food presented..Also all the food had no real BBQ taste...I will stick with Camille's in Irvington

If you see a picture of meat sliced on a plate, and what comes in the container looks like it came out of a cat food can?. I called in a take out order, my moms wanted polish sausage, the gal said they were out and she checked with the cooks. when i went to pick up the brisket and pork meat plate. There was a lady ordering Polish sausage. Now this made me mad after they had said they were totally out! would not have anymore today. maybe they ran over to Costco and bought a couple for a buck.? The corn is good i liked it the roll was good, soaked in meat juice. but i like that. $37 bucks for two meat plats and sides no drinks were purchased will not be back. sad a couple of the kids there are nice. from the look of the crowd today sunday, they had lots of kids mobbing the soda and free ice cream so they should stay in business with the people with kids. would rather go spend my money at chilies wish i had done that. they can take this yucky meat back.

Barbecue is one of my favorite kind of food. If I were to make a Food Pyramid, barbecue would be near the bottom where it says "6-11 servings a day recommended". So it came to my delight when I noticed Dickey's was coming to Fremont. A couple of days after it had their grand opening, I tried this place with the family. The first thing that I noticed is the price of these plates. While not a surprise for a barbecue dinner, the food still seemed a bit expensive. My dad and I decided to get the beef brisket dinner since its a favorite of ours. The service was pretty good and they were very attentive. The only problem is that the food is terrible. My dad can agree this was the worst brisket we've had. It was so dry, even the bbq sauce couldn't moist it up. The side of potato salad and beans didn't fare well either for any of us. My moms bbq chicken also was terrible from what she was saying. The food was so bad that we stopped eating the dinner entirely, and went for the vanilla ice cream (the only good part of our dinner). I should be giving this place a 1 star since its a food review, but I gotta give them credit for their customer service.

I'm not sure how this restaurant's bbq ever got popular enough to become a chain because their bbq is gross. Not only is the sauce lacking, the portion in comparison to how much they charge is baffling. Meals are about 7 bucks or more for such a little amount of food. Seriously, you would need 2 meals if you want to be full. I order tri tip and got a whopping 3 (very thinly) sliced strips of Tri Tip. WTF? And the sides are spectacular either. NEVER COMING BACK.

  • Ken D.

No beer, no cornbread and easy-to-eat but tasteless ribs. Almost no smoke. I suspect they steam the ribs overnight and pour on sauce - so the only thing you taste is the sauce, which is good. But, good BBQ is vastly more than a vehicle for a sauce (hell that is how most people make salads). Overall just average for around here. If this were in TX it would not last a week. Kind of like others have said- it is Kentucky fried chicken meets other meats. Its a clean place, lots of room, clean tables and VERY large drinks (over-sized to be honest). There is nothing horribly wrong with this place, but nothing to make me want to return.

Saw this place while hitting up Half off Books across the way. I went in and looked at the menu and decided to try out the 2 meat plate. I ordered the texas style brisket and ribs. The meal came with some pickles and a roll and 2 sides. I opt for baked beans and the potato casserole. I must say it was really good for being somewhat fast food. The meat was flavorful and tender and juicy. The ribs were defin fall off the bones type and have a good smoking taste. I enjoy the sides and rolls. I defin enjoy my meal here however knocked one star off for price. Its a little pricey and the portions are not big.

Went to try out Dickey's Barbeque Pit since it's in Fremont. It's on the corner of Boscell Rd & AutoMall in the strip mall where JoAnn's & Half Price Books is. Check out their menu which is lots of meat & sides like salad, beans, potatoes. I got the Southern Pulled Pork sandwich w/ 1 side. $6.98 before tax. It's a fast-food place so you order, pay, & you can take-out or have it in. If u have it there they give you a number & bring the food to your table. They take credit cards. The pulled pork sandwich was dry so you need to stock up on the mild or hot sauce. I filled up 2 plastic containers of the hot sauce - which isn't spicy at all, but temperature hot. I really needed 3 containers. That makes the meat edible. Mac & Cheese is very boring, not cheesy at all. Big shell noodles that are mushy & probably overcooked. Got a huge stroafoam cup of Tap Water - no plastic lid fits over it. Nice small crunchy ice at the self-serve soda fountain. Water tab is in front of the lemonade one. FREE soft-serve ice cream is average. You can get a small cup of it or small cake cone. I put my soft-serve ice cream in the cup then had the cone on the side. Separate bathrooms available. Country music plays in the background. Heard at least 2 songs before I left. Small patio on the side of the building too. Open daily 11am-9pm My pics above

The Dickeys chain is to BBQ as: Taco Bell is to Mexican, Panda Express is to Chinese, Olive Garden is to Italian Do yourself a favor. After trying Dickey's, go to almost ANY other non chain bbq joint reviewed on yelp and compare. Ribs & pulled pork are supposed to be moist, juicy, & tender; there's so much fat in the meat that it is almost impossible to dry out. But that's what I've gotten 3 times now at Dickey's. Dry, needs water to swallow, BBQ. Maybe mass production, heat, then let sit under a heat lamp? I don't know what they're not doing right, but Dickey's will definitely not be in my BBQ joint rotation.

My friend and I ate there for the first time about 2 weeks ago. We were not impressed. The portions are small for the price you pay ($6.00 bucks for a sandwich the size of your fist with just a couple pieces of meat in it ) and the meat was flavorless. We had to dip our meat in lots of their BBQ sauce (which isn't that great either) to have any flavor. We both got their mac and cheese which had cheese colored water on it and over cooked pasta shells. There were a few things I liked about the place: 1. The drink cups are bright yellow souvenir cups. Kinda cool. 2. They have fried okra which I am a fan of. 3. They serve southern sweet tea which is another fav of mine. We more than likely will not be going there again.

Definitely a good place to satisfy your craving for a good place to eat bbq. (Been watching food channel and had a bbq episode and made me crave to eat some =) . Came in here around 8ish on a Saturday night and it was not to crowded. It was a little confusing when we got in since there were no signs if we need to be seated or we seat ourselves. We finally realized that we need to figure out what to get before hand and choose from the menu when you enter the door, order at the counter and seat ourselves. Price wise was a bit pricey I would say (our bill came out to be almost $30 for a basic meal). My friend and I ordered their combo's and we were asked what kind of sides we wanted and later figured it out that it was not side that came with it and it was extra. Towards the end of conversation with the cashier, she mentioned to us that they provide free soft-served ice cream and pickles. Food wise was good, but not the best one I have had (best bbq place I have been to was in San Diego called Phil's BBQ). The server came by after 5 minutes to provide us our food. It was very quick and portions was decent. Service wise was also OK. I had asked the server for some butter and told me that she would bring it to our table but had to come back to the cashier place and she saw me, but did not even recognized or acknowledged me. That was a little bit of a turned off since we waited for about 10 minutes to get our butter, and I had to come back to the cashier, go back in line and wait for some more. Overall, it was OK. Was checking the menu and later found out that for the amount we paid, we could of purchased some sort of family style meal. I would say also that they have good portions for larger groups, so I don't mind coming back with a group of 8 and get their family style meal. Update: 10/10/11 I came here with a friend 3 weeks ago and experienced bad service. Seems to me that most workers here are not too happy helping people or taking orders. I ordered my food from the person in charge of the cashier. He didn't look too happy and had attitude. I just ignored it and thought that he might be having a bad day. We sat outside because it was pretty warm that day and wanted to enjoy the slight breeze outside. 10 minutes passed, no food. 20 minutes passed, still no food. Finally when 30 minutes is up, I came back in and asked where the hell was my order. I don't think that they had kill a cow that day just to get my ribs. Then the same person who took my order said "it will be out in 15 minutes." After almost 45 minutes of waiting, I finally got my food. Food tasted mediocre. After experiencing this kind of service, I would not come back.

I've came here several times, and personally i like it. Theres not many places in the east bay like this, which makes this place different. The service is alright. Some days good, some days its okay. The food is good. although i usually just get the 1 meat plates. From my experience the ribs werent all that great. I recommend either getting the sliced brisket [my choice] or the pulled pork. Side choices that i like are the potato casserole, iron waffle fries, slaw or mac and cheese. Just depends what you like. The music they play is country, personally i dont mind country and have gotten use to it. But no worries, the music is played low so it wont bother you [if you dont like listening to country]. OH AND THEIR SWEET TEA IS BOMB! make sure u get that as a drink :] and another plus to this place would have to be the free soft serve hehe

I really wanted to like this place more, but the cons outweighed the pros here! The fried okra is something I'd recommend to try, as it was easily the best surprise of the meal for me and my girlfriend. The biggest con, and a huge travesty for me, was the dry and stringy brisket. This is the one instance where possibly drowning it in bbq sauce may have saved it...if they had given us more sauce. If you are a brisket fan, do NOT get the sliced brisket as it is drier than a hot desert day. The chopped brisket is slightly better. The chicken is much better if you do somehow find your way here, and the macaroni and cheese is also passable. I advice against the cole slaw, as it seems more like some cabbage floating in dressing soup! Pros: This place is on the cheap side. Free soft serve cone for dessert. Cons: Dry meats, not really imaginative. Worse yet, no smoke flavor from any of the meats, which you tend to expect from a decent bbq pit.

Sometimes I think I forget to rate places for what they are. Was going to give this place 3 stars. But it's not "Southern Heritage BBQ" in that it's not mom and pop but a chain. So, as far as chain grub goes I'll give this place 4 stars. Had a two item plate. Virginia Ham and Sliced Brisket (does it matter if ya don't call it "Virginia"? Wondering). Both of the meat items tasted great with no fat to speak of. Coleslaw was good too. Cobette of corn was mushy...sitting around too long. But had a good flavor. Wife ordered ribs. They also were quite good. One was a bit too fatty for her so I got that one. I prefer Dickey's over Kinder's. Both places, the portion size could be bigger. I wouldn't be going to either if Southern Heritage wouldn't take forever to get your food out to you though. Oh, the rolls are great tasting too and I prefer their hot BBQ sauce. Staff was very nice. I'll be eating there again.

Called in an order on Monday September 2nd at 3:48pm, I arrived at around 4:20pm to pick up my order yet it wasn't ready.I waited till after 5pm to FINALLY get my order which was a 2 meat plate and a 1 meat plate. To accommodate they gave me 2 coupons for a free sandwich which was nice but I feel they could have done a lot more since I waited nearly an hour for an order they said would be ready for me to pick up when I arrived. Hopefully this wont happen again.

Tender juicy pulled pork with sweet and spicy barbeque sauce served hot, with freshly sliced onions and pickles. Not a fan of pickles in my hamburgers/sandwhiches but the whole thing just wouldn't be as scrumptious without. I did feel like fat was growing on the outer layer of my stomach today right after lunch though because I had a 3 hour long meeting and had no opportunity to walk around. I didn't think there was a lot of fat in my pulled pork but what do I know? I ate it because it was good, regardless of whether it was healthy or not. (Please be healthy.. please be healthy *praying*). With any order, you also get free icecream from the icecream machine (or it was just vanilla frozen yogurt). I paid approx. $6 for all that goodness. It's worth it.

3.75 so I rounded up I've seen this place a couple of times, located at the end of Auto Mall so it's easy to get distracted by the many other food places you see before you get to it. Kind of have to be determined to get to it. Anyways, was finally able to give it a try with my kids (5, 3, and 1) Kids eat free Sundays (we came on a Friday, dang) Daily deals Order at the counter, they're supposed to give you a number (I didn't get one) and bring you your food or you pick it up. Cafeteria style in terms of condiments & drinks Outdoor patio (which is where we ate) Leave your trash, someone will pick it up (which means you should probably TIP) I got one two meat plate, plus an extra side, and it fed all of us really well. I was surprised. Can't beat a well balanced meal for only $13 Bread: GOOD. I wish I had bought more. 4 rolls for $2. Gotta love carbs Pork ribs: Okay for fast-ish food Slices of beef: Good, nice and tender, even better when you drench it in BBQ sauce Mac & Cheese: No complaints there Corn on the cob: Felt like they tossed it in a microwave, don't really know how to salvage that one Potato salad: HIGHLY disappointing. I'm a big fan of potato salad and idk what this had too much of.. but it was too sweet and too tart at the same time. None of us took more than a bite of it. I hate wasting food so I tried to make the baby eat it, yup, no luck there either. Bummer. Nice staff Highchairs NO CHANGING TABLE IN THE BATHROOM. Fail. It was really nice eating outside. Since it is down on Auto Mall it's not that noisy.. but there isn't much of a view I'd come again for a family pack

I don't understand the hype about this place. Yes, there's free ice cream cones, but the ribs are just 'ok'. They were a little bit dry, I thought... Went there once but have no desire to go again..

I have been wanting to try out Dickie's BBQ pit for a while and I finally went a week or two ago and it totally met all my expectations. I had the pulled pork and it was delicious. They have tons of tasty and unique sides to choose from and they have an ice-cream dispenser with FREE ice-cream! It's worth going back just for that. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. I would highly recommend this to any BBQ lover. Eat in or take out for a yummy lunch or dinner. Great location right in the Pacific Commons in Fremont.

I am a big fan of their rib-plates. The meat was easily torn from the bone and had flavor. Every time I come here, I order different sides and they all come out decently. Never had a wrong order (unlike other big chains) and I didn't have loud and obnoxious parties sitting next to me. Not sure why others have issues but maybe I have no clue to what BBQ is supposed to be? Someone help me out here.

LOVE it. Okay, so I was in the area to grab some coffee from the Prolific Oven... as I walked across the parking lot, a heavenly scent got to me. YUMMMMM barbecue! it had been a long day of work so I decided to treat myself (in the sense that i wasn't going to make myself cook that night, hehe) and buy some bbq for my fiance and his fam. Now with three boys in their family, I knew I was probably going to have to go with a family meal... and a big one at that! So I went with their XL Family Meal. 3 pounds of meat, 3 sides, 6 rolls, and 6 pieces of corn. Good stuff....after a loooooooooot of thinking, I went with 2 pounds of ribs and 1 pound of chicken.... I say a lot of thinking because their pulled pork looked REALLY good as well (next time!)...For our sides I picked their waffle fries, their Cesar salad, and their potato salad. Now, I figured this would take a while, but the cashier suggested that I have some of their FREE soft serve ice cream or pickles while I waited... PICKLES and ICE CREAM?!? Its like a preggo woman's dream come true [no, i'm not preggo. i only had the ice cream thank you very much] I bring it home and its SOOOO GOOD. the rolls just melt in your mouth.... the meat is so tender and flavorful! And they give you a bucket of sauce so you can dip that meat in even more sauce-y goodness! :) The only minus star comes from those pieces of corn. Absolutely no flavor at all :( Totally depressing. Everything else was freaking wonderful! We will definitely be back. :)

Where do I begin? Let's start with the bad stuff first. It's the same issue, over and over! Ive been there 6 times and EVERYTIME (and I mean every time) my order has been wrong. I order Family Pack meals for my office and they CAN NEVER get it right EVER. It's so annoying that I ask them to double check, they say "they have" yet my order is always wrong Oh and did I mention I called corporate AUGUST 15th and have yet to get a callback? I've called in between time and have been told that "Stephanie is the only one that deals with complaints so that's why it's taking so long" Really? you guys have that many complaints!!! I love their food - it's so good! But unfortunately, their incompetence will prevent me from ever spending my money there....AGAIN.

I went to Dickey's for the first time before going to see a movie at the nearby theater. It is a great way to go. The food was good, it was fast and there was plenty of it. The rolls are amazing and while I wouldn't say it was the best BBQ I have ever had, I would happily have it again. What is really awesome is that you can get dinner at Dickey's, stop by the Half Price Books and then walk over to the movie theater. It made a great evening with my teenagers.

Not bad for Texas style BBQ at all - reminds me of Rudy's in Texas. Glad to be able to get some Texas BBQ in Cali! Ordered the combo with brisket, corn, biscuit, and one side (I choose criss-cut fries). Meat is cooked well - next time I'll choose sliced vs. chopped. Portions are generous, I was stuffed. If you want to sample one more of their many sides, just add another for 99cents. You can get a complete meal for about $7 depending if you add more items or not. BBQ sauce is pretty good - not too spicy - which is a good fit for me. Pickles: if you like them - they are free! Help yourself! Dessert: FREE! There's a self-serve ice cream machine with cute mini cones! Help yourself!

I've tried their brisket, ribs, turkey, chicken, pulled pork, smoked, and jalapeno cheddar sausages. I will usually get the 2 meat plate (ribs and something else like a sausage or brisket). You also get 2 sides to your plate where I'll get the onion tanglers and something else like green beans, bacon beans. They also offer mac and cheese, potato casserole (like a warm potato salad) and fried okra. You also get a roll, some pickles and raw onion. You can also order sandwiches here using the same meats but I don't. There is some smoke to the meats but I wish I could taste it more. The sauce they use very nice though and I feel it is one of the best around. Kids get to eat her for free on Sundays and they have an soft serve machine for dessert. Overall this is decent BBQ in my eyes and doesn't break the bank to come here with a family which is a plus.

Do your self a favor and go to Kinder's instead unless you like dry meat and average ribs. I do have to say that the free ice cream and pickles are a nice touch but not enough to make up for the sub par BBQ.

I've been here a couples times, most recently with La Familia and it was their first time. It's not authentic BBQ that's for sure, it's more on the lines of what you'd expect at Armadillo Willy's or Chili's. You can say it's BBQ on a budget. We ordered their XL Family Packs which came with three choices of meat, three sides, corn and bread, which was $42, not too bad considering it serves 6-8 people. We got their Signature Chopped Beef Brisket and two orders of their Pork Ribs. I'm not a brisket fan but their SCBB was totally delish, especially with a little of their warm BBQ sauce. Their Pork Ribs were okay, definitely not high quality or fall of the bone but, it fit the bill. For our sides, we got the Mac and Cheese which was super duper delish, I could eat that for days! Coleslaw which was standard and the Fried Onion Tanglers, which were good, but wish they were served piping hot out of the fryer. I love how they serve Sweet Tea, it's probably the best tasting Sweet Tea I've ever had, in California, that is. I think I downed about five servings in those huge, yellow cups they give you. They also have self serve, soft serve ice cream, but I'm not too big on ice cream so I passed. Overall, Dickey's is a cool place to get your BBQ cravings on in a pinch. Don't expect true southern cooking, or Kansas/Texas style BBQ here, after all, it is a chain resto!

Came here for dinner with my husband; we ordered the beef brisket. OH BOY was it dry, so dry it fell apart in a thousand pieces. Talk about disgusting. BBQ sauce was watery and tables were greasy/dirty! Their green beans and fried okra was good--stick with Stouffer's Mac & Cheese, theirs was gross. The food left such a bad after taste, we went to Prolific Oven and purchased a slice of cake. Very disappointed ; I'm sure they won't be in business very long.

I've eaten here about 12-15 times. Tonight was the last for this location. The restaurant was filthy. There were no clean indoor tables available. I ordered at 6:45pm and my food arrived at between 7:20pm and & 7:25pm - it came in stages. That would be acceptable if this wasn't a fast food restaurant. There were no pickles or silverware available. My brisket was dehydrated and my ham was dry and stringy. I sent them back and got crisco drenched, wet fatty brisket and ham that appeared to have been bottled in water. The manager Priscilla justified everything by saying that they were "busy." For the price of this place, you can almost go to a sit down restaurant. I'm done with Dickey's Fremont. Oh, the paper towels on the tables have been replaced with napkins, the whole pickles were replaced with slivers...the only good thing about this place is the "free" ice cream. That, however, can be balanced out by the filthy kitchen. Looking over the counter (after I ordered) I saw the floor back there was about as bad as in the dining area. Clientele: Wow, Fremont appears to be full of Whiskey Tangoes and Gangstas.

Shame on them for calling this BBQ! I've had REAL BBQ before (in Texas, Alabama, St. Louis, etc.) and this is NOT BBQ! 0.5 Stars = Food (1. at least it's edible 2. no bbq flavor, no smoke flavor, doesn't even taste like it was grilled over some kind of fire!) 0.5 Stars = Service (Really, it take 10 minutes to dump pre-made food into containers?) 1 Star = Total (Why? Because, I'm generous!) I suggest going to Everett & Jones instead for some BBQ! The Hayward location is a little interesting (no frills, talk thru a 2-inch thick plastic partition, may think twice about going there after dark) but, the food's good! BTW, there's an actual smoker out back so you know it's authentic! 'Nuff Said!

Heard about the free ice cream and stopped by to check it out after running errands. The food is okay, nothing special. The pulled pork was bland without the BBQ sauce and good barbecue should stand up on its own without any BBQ sauce. The fries weren't crispy and under seasoned as well. The Mac and cheese was nothing special. The soft serve ice cream and diet coke did hit the spot this afternoon.

I went here on Friday night...though hey lets give it a try, we LOVE bar b que. I was so dissapointed, and if i hadn't spent over $20 i would have walked away. I was upset to waste my calories on such bland food. The service is OK, the cashier didnt know much about the food...so that wasn't very good. They have all you can eat pickles and soft serve... the soft serve is pretty yummy and so are the fries. I won't be coming back to this place, and I wont be recommending it either, if you want good bar b que, go to Claim Jumpers...

I enjoy going to Dickey's to get the Turkey Barbecue sandwiches, which are moist and delicious. The staff is very accommodating to customizing the order, such as serving barbecue sauce on the side, and they are very friendly. The extra touches such as free pickles and ice cream round out the experience. Also, if you come back often and purchase the sandwiches, they have a card where you can get free rewards including drinks and a free sandwich after several purchases.

so good... So GOOD. SOOO GOOD. drool.... The pulled pork is to die for, the bbq sauce is tangy and slightly sweet, the coleslaw is magnificent, the trip tip is so tender and the ribs are fall off the bone greatness... I haven't had bbq like this in awhile. I've been let down so many times by bbq places saying they're authentic etc but all I get is hard, overcooked, dry meat that gets stuck in your teeth and bug the crap out of you till you find a toothpick. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because we got it to go. It was slightly cold (duh...) when I got home so I'm saving my 5 star review for when I actually eat in!! yummmmmmmmm

We visit the big retailers around this area on a weekly basis. However, Dickey's is located on a strip where we do not frequent. So the first time we've heard about it is from Groupon. After checking it up on Yelp, we decided to purchase a Groupon and give Dickey's a try. And we like it well enough. The place is quiet, low key, friendly, and super fast whenever we visited. We love the fact that we can have pulled pork or brisket sandwich at a fast food place instead of slaving over the meat for hours. The meat is flavorful, and not too greasy like some other places. Unlike some other reviewer, we did not need to add any extra sauce. So I guess it depends on your taste. Or maybe we've been just lucky. We don't drink much, but the large yellow cup is refillable, so are the pickles and sundae. The regular/light menu items are large enough for our lunch or dinner appetite.

They won me over with their anniversary event. $1 pulled pork sandwiches! The sandwiches are a bit dry, but nothing a ton of BBQ sauce won't fix. I like to mix the mild and hot for the perfect medium sauce. Yum. The soft serve machine was on the fritz though, from the gazillion people who used it that day. All I got was slightly cold soft serve. They were also out of dill pickles. But that's okay. :) We went back later for dinner a little before closing time and they were out of sandwich buns, so we got a free upgrade to po'boy sandwiches! Super nice service.

Hmmm....BBQ!!! There's nothing better than some good BBQ with some good sides. Groupon has once again introduced me & my honey to new restaurants that we never knew existed. Dickey's BBQ is located at the corner of Auto Mall Pkwy & Boscell Rd in the same parking lot as Applebee's & The Prolific Oven. We came here on a Monday night so it wasn't too busy. Since I got a few Groupons for this place, we each used one to get some good eats - $10 worth :) I ordered the 1 Meat Plate - with pulled pork, caesar salad & waffle iron fries - along with a large drink. My honey ordered the 2 Meat Plate - with brisket & sausage with a side of fried onions. I loved the Pulled Pork as well as the sausage - delish!! The fries were great and the salad was tasty! I'm definitely a fan :) The best part is that there is free soft serve ice cream - vanilla was the only option, but definitely hit the spot after the BBQ. Also you get some free dill pickles if you come to Dickey's too! Also, if you bring back your soda cup (which is plastic), you get 1/2 of soda next time :) Definitely coming back - got one more Groupon to use! But, even after they run out, I'm coming back! Cheers!

First, let me qualify my status as a BBQ expert. Lived in the Dallas, TX area for 12 years, and at some point, I'm heading back there. Dickey's BBQ, for those that don't know, is a Dallas, TX based chain and most if not all restaurants outside of Texas are franchised, meaning the quality of the product is up to the owner of that franchise. Having been to almost every Dickey's in Texas in my travels, I know good BBQ. The place was VERY busy for early on Sunday afternoon. This is a good sign. I had the 2 meat platter, which came with 2 sides and bread. Picked the beef brisket and sausage, as well as mac and cheese and waffle fries. For those who don't know, smoking meat drys it out. So anyone complaining the meat was dry, well that's what BBQ sauce is for, along with additional flavoring. Ok, back to the review. The beef brisket tasted just like it does in any of the Dickey's in Texas. Same for the sausage. The mac and cheese was steaming hot and the waffle fries were fresh from the fryer. Both were the usual I've found at Dickey's, good. As you can see, my visit was very good. It wasn't great for a couple reasons. 1: No mustard available. You're serving waffle fries and NO mustard? 2: No fried okra. I realize this is a regional thing and Californians mostly don't know what fried okra is, but if you're gonna do Texas BBQ....you should include fried okra. For those wondering, yes, I did mention my issues above to the manager, after eating. He was happy to take the information. The true test of a place is on the 2nd/3rd/4th/10th visits, if they can reproduce it. I won't be able to do that, since this Dickey's BBQ is over 100 mi from where I live.....but when back in the Fremont area, I'll be sure to stop here for lunch or dinner. UPDATE: Ok, for those complaining about the prices (especially when compared to Dickey's in Texas), this is California and things here are MORE EXPENSIVE! Which explains why a 2 meat platter costs $15 in Fremont, but only $10 in Plano, TX.

2nd review on Dickeys...ordered 2 meals 2 sides..takes less than 5 minutes..quick and fast customer service.. Southern pulled pork and turkey are still great ...pulled pork so tender and turkey taste really good...again the thick hot sauce give little bit of mild taste...2 sides: waffle fries and macaroni are my favorite so far...spent a good time there today enjoying the free pickels and soft serve while watching the football games...

This dicky's franchise is geat and have enjoyed it since it opened. The food is great and sides and sauce are great too. Come for the all you have soft serve ice cream which is great on hot days. Dont hate because its a franchise but Dickeys serves some of the best bbq in the area.

I went here on Monday of this week for lunch since I was craving BBQ. After eating from Dickey's my craving has been satisfied for the time being. I ordered the rib plate with came with 5 or 6 ribs and the standard 2 sides and biscuit. The ribs were pretty tasty and were very, very tender. I read someone's review saying they weren't fall off the bone and were dry, but this was not the case with mine. The sauce was also quite nice on them. It had a decent kick and plenty of flavor. It is a bit thinner than other sauces may be, but I still liked it. I think it may be a bit better than Kinder's across the parking lot as I remember their sauce being a bit too thin. The sides I got were also decent. I had the mac and cheese and the coleslaw since I wanted something cheesy and something I could trick myself into thinking was healthy. The mac and cheese is quite thick with a lot of cheese sauce. It was pretty good, definitely the kind I like with a lot of cheese, but it didn't wow me. Though I ate the whole thing and did enjoy it so I'd suggest it. The coleslaw was pretty standard and about on par with KFC. Everything was chopped pretty small and the flavor was fine, but nothing too impressive. Overall my meal was good. I was satisfied at the end and I enjoyed the flavors. It certainly wasn't the best BBQ I've had, but I still liked it. The one gripe I had was the price. For a one meat plate it's 10 bucks. The rib plate ended up sending me back about 13.50 so unless you're really hungry, get the one meat. It was yummy, but I could make a similar meal in bigger quantities for the price. Still, if you're in the area and want some BBQ I'd say to give it a shot!

We had Dickey's delivered for dinner tonight since most of the office was working late. The turkey was surprisingly moist and soft. The hot sauce is still tangy at best. Nowhere near hot. The pulled pork was ok, tender, but a little bland. I really liked the turkey though.

I got the not-so-big Big BBQ Sandwich with the Southern Pulled Pork with Fried Onion Tanglers. They have smokey, spicy, and other flavor BBQ sauces that you can pump out to a little plastic cup. If you're like me, you'll definitely end up with more sauce than stuff to dip it with. I've gotten a 10 lbs bag of potatoes for $1 at a grocery store multiple times. It was quite a shock to see baked potatoes for $5.50 -$7.50. That's ridiculous! I was quite sad because I was dying to have a good bake potato that day. Or at least potato skins! Unfortunately, they didn't even have that as a side. I like their sweet tea. It's comparable to McD's sweet tea and you get a nice plastic yellow cup to bring home with you. There's free soft serve ice cream to put some sweetness to all that saucy saltiness in your mouth.

Portions were adequate, nothing exceptional. Food was OK as far as BBQ's go. One BBQ sauce was slightly spicy. Sides were OK. Not much to complain, nor to praise, about. Simple and honest dining. A little pricey but hey, that's the way of the world these days, July 2012, everything's going up.

It's a place to fix your BBQ craving in the East Bay Area, but Carmen and Family or Everett & Jones are much better choices IMHO. Gotta admit, they do try their best to entice customers with daily specials, free large dills, and free vanilla soft serve, but ultimately the food isn't worth the special trip. I did get hooked on their anniversary special deals, but their pulled pork and beef brisket meat are nothing to write home about. Green beans with bacon and waffle fries are alright, but the fried onions and okra have too much batter on them. Service is pretty decent here and they have a couple of flat-screen TVs showing some sort of sports broadcast. They do take AMEX without a minimum charge. Food: 2/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 2.5/5

Horrible excuse for bbq. Horrible enough to resurrect my Yelp account. Everything they called "bbq" is actually boiled meat covered in bbq sauce and liquid smoke. Bbq from your local supermarket deli would put their food to shame. Do yourself a favor and walk across the parking lot to Kinders.

This place doesn't know anything about GOOD BBQ. For one thing, if BRISKET is your specialty, it better be mouth-watering. The Brisket tasted like it was baked/broiled in an oven. BBQ involves a cooking method that includes a grill and a flame. And their turkey...a no go. It tasted like simple Lunchmeat you'd put in a sandwich. The only thing that was good were their sides. But for the price I'd pay for their sides is so not worth it.

I BBQ at least 2-3 times a week so my standards are pretty high. The menu looks good but when my food arrived, it could not have been blander. Yes thats a word now - *blander*. I don't even remember what I ordered besides brisket because it was that forgettable. I remember the beans were ok, but you don't get BBQ for beans. Thats like booking a flight cuz you're in the mood for peanuts. There was no bbq flavor in the meat at all. Like they waved the sauce mop over the food instead of on it. And the rub was invisible. Rub is the heart and soul of bbq and this had no soul. Yes the soft serve is nice but get it together with the food guys! Also I paid $23 for two for the most bland meal I've ever had. I'll just do my own bbq for now. Feel free to come over.

Wow people said some harsh things about this place. Sometimes, a review really depends on the time, place and item(s) ordered. For me, I had a pretty good experience. My order was correct, the food was pretty good and the service was great. I got the Barbecue Brisket sandwich with a side of waffle fries. The meat was tender and a little on the fatty side which must've helped with the tenderness. Sauce comes separate so you can scoop up a little plastic cup of hot or mild. I prefer the hot because it's more chunky (I'm all about textures) and in reality, it's not that hot! You can even dip your fries in it. Speaking of fries, the waffle fries were crisp and not oily. It's like Carl Jr.'s criss-cut fries but without the color and with not as much seasoning (just your basic salt). I don't know if this is something they're doing because the place just opened or if they will institute it every time but when they bring your food out, they ask how you're doing and if you need anything else. Actually TWO people asked. And then the manager came out later and asked how we were. That really went above and beyond. All in all, this is a good, casual lunch place. It leans towards fast food and definitely not fine dining so don't expect that.

Cheap, edible eats in the middle of Yet-Another-Strip-Mall-USA-TM. Got the ribs plate w/ fried okra. It's kinda like the KFC/McD of ribs...they're fine to eat but don't expect miracles. Price-performance ratio: moderate. It's like $10/person for their meal-of-the-day, $15 for a main w/ sides + beverage, but then again BBQ is generally a $15/head fare, so it's reasonable enough. Oh yeah, free dill pickles and soft serve ice cream -- they're passable, but I wouldn't pay money for 'em.

So, my firend wanted to try this place. Another friend of mines told me that it wasn't any good and that it's ok if you want to kill the hunger pains, and he was right. So I had the ribs and they were a huge disappointment. When I got the ribs, I thought to myself "I've seen more meat on a used toothpick". I'm sorry...This was not a good experience. My friend said that it was good stuff, then she asked me if I thought that it was good, I told her, "ANYTHING'S GOOD WHEN IT'S A FREE MEAL". Thanks for the free meal... Sorry Dickey's...One Trans-Fat out of Five...

Loved the sweet tea, free pickles and ice cream. Food came out cold. I ate it because I couldn't be bothered waiting any longer. I think if everything was hot, maybe I'd give an extra star.

If you're craving bbq and on a low budget this place is for you. It ain't all that but it is pretty decent. I ordered the 2 meat with sliced triscit and the ribs. First of all they only gave me two small ass ribs...that kinda pissed me off. The sliced triscet was really soft but it kept falling off my fork. And it was really dry, but drenching it in sauce made it better. The corn had no flavor. The mac and cheese was alright. I love the coleslaw. And the free soft serve ice creams was a good way to end a meal. When I went there, the store was empty and it was around 4 pm, but the customer service was great. I would most likely to come back here when im feeling bbq and broke.

We are at this place atleast twice a month. Love their dogs on a mini bun or the big bun if you're super hungry. The dog with cheese in it is spicier than the regular one. You can't go wrong with ordering their fried okras, mashed potato, sweet beans and the crisscross cut chips was enough to feed two people or take home some. It's also nice how you can pump your own HOT BBQ sauce and it has two types and get some sliced quartered size pickles for some munchin. The ice cream is just a little soft serve on a super small cone that you can refill as much as you want.

I was excited about the menu and the complimentary pickles and ice cream. Arrived at 5:30pm to an empty restaurant. Ordered two meat combo of ribs and brisket with mac cheese and potato casserole. The fact I don't usually carb up often, this was a big cheat meal for me. The meats came out cold and the cheese on the potato casserole wasn't even melted. The combo came with two pork ribs that were tough and grisly to eat. The brisket was dry and had a silver rainbow sheen. I did enjoy the BBQ sauce but didn't enjoy my meal. I felt like going across the street to Kinders but I'll chalk it up as an experience to not eat here again.

I gave Dickey's 4 stars in the past (my review is no longer up), but I'm still a mild fan (my main issue has to do with the portions). I went here with my family on Saturday. We took our food to go. It was ready in about 3 minutes (my wife and I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes). Customer service is emphasized here (the cashiers are warm and inviting). In addition, the restaurant is kept clean (when I go here, there's always an employee cleaning up and stocking the condiment area). There's free WiFi here. The 2 TV's inside are nice. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : I'm still using my cup at home. I like to load it with ice, and I don't even let my hookers drink from it. The cups are 32 oz. (I got a partial refill while we were waiting). There are 8 fountain machine selections (ex: Dr. Pepper; Barq's Root Beer). There's a Big Yellow Cup Club: dickeys.com/bycc/default… . Denied: I actually ordered a drink for the ice. I was disappointed to discover, though, that it's changed. In the past, you would basically receive ice particles that would keep your drink cold for hours. You now receive pretty basic ice cubes. They have some staying power (like me in bed), but it's just not the same. finance.yahoo.com/news/c… : I agree. "The homemade bread products" should be popular with customers. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Fried Okra is new to the menu. It's supposed to be good. Barbecue Meat Plates come with 2 sides, 2 pickles, 2 onion "hoops," a dinner roll, and barbecue sauce (we received a container of Hot and Mild- the employee seemed a bit annoyed when I said yes to wanting some Mild). 2 Meat Plates are $12.54 with tax. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8.5/10. I really enjoyed my Fried Onion Tanglers. They were tasty and just a bit salty. My wife liked the ones that she had. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8.5/10. My Southern Pulled Pork was good and not at all fatty. I just wish that I had been given more. My Texas Style Chopped Beef Brisket was delicious, but there was a decent amount of fat. I like the Sliced Beef Brisket a bit more. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8/10. My wife is a fan, but she finds them to be just like baked beans (in other words, nothing special). yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8/10. Cheesy and pretty good. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8/10. Solid. I always order Waffle Iron Fries. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 8/10. My wife enjoyed her green beans, but mocked her pieces of bacon. She wasn't given many (I noticed this too), and basically said that they were like bacon dog treats. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : My wife gives her ribs an 8/10. There were some small, hard pieces ("gristle"). I liked mine more (score: 8.5/10), and will order a Rib Plate next time ($14.12 with tax). (I didn't have to deal with any gristle.) We differ in terms of the hot links. My wife gives them a 9/10 (she loved hers), but I give them a 7.5/10. They're not very hot (I had to dunk mine in Hot sauce), and I just think of them as regular sausage. I recommend the Hot sauce. It will really make your mouth burn. yelp.com/biz_photos/dick… : Score: 7/10. My wife likes the potato salad that she gets at the store more (it's "chunky and more flavorful"). She thinks that the potato salad at BBQ places in general is bland (in my experience, she's right). The environment here is casual, and the food is pretty good. Big eaters like me, though, need to order a lot in order to get full. youtube.com/watch?v=u3PI…

Finally came here for lunch. It's located in a shopping center off Auto Mall Parkway on the corner. New building, decor designed to give you a vaguely down home country feel. Line up and order at the counter. I had the beef brisket which was pretty moist and really tender. You get your BBQ sauce on the counter across from the front counter, so you can really load up if you like a lot of sauce. As far as barbeque goes, it was just OK. You can get your utensils at this counter too. Napkins on each of the dining tables. Also had the fried okra, which was surprisingly spicy, and the green beans and bacon which was OK. Biscuit was nice to soak up the BBQ sauce. What's kind of fun here is that after your meal, you can go back to the table across from the counter and get free soft serve ice cream in a cone. OK, so the cones are small, but there's nothing to prevent you from getting seconds. Yum! I saw a bunch of guys eating ice cream while waiting for their order. Dessert first - life is short.

My co-workers took me here for lunch one day, and I don't know if I'd ever want to come back again. The girl taking people's orders looked like she hated her life, and that's usually the first sign of a not-so-great-restaurant, right? I ordered a meat plate with slice beef brisket, mac n cheese and waffle fries. The meat was on the dry side and didn't have much flavor. I had to drench it in their spicy bbq sauce for it to go down smoothly, eek. Although they gave me a lot of waffle fries, they were nothing special. Their mac n cheese was probably the only thing on my meat plate that I enjoyed. It had that homemade feel (with lots of cheesey goodness) without tasting like the usual Kraft box mac n cheese. It's pretty cool that they have self serve pickles (ooooh yeah, I LOVE pickles!) and ice cream. But really, how much pickles can you eat to save the whole meal? And although the ice cream was delicious if you eat it all.. it coagulated and looked all gross if you let it sit for 5-10 minutes. Regular ice cream doesn't do this! So if you really enjoy ice cream and DON'T want to see the quality of their ice cream, eat it all as fast as you can...

I think the scattered reviews on this place is because of the meats, which vary wildly in quality. The Texas brisket is super fatty and not very flavorful. The hot links and polish sausage are pretty good. The regular brisket is hit-or-miss ok, the pulled pork is decent. Ask for the BBQ sauce on the side, as it's mediocre. If you get takeout and use your own favorite BBQ sauce the place goes up a notch. That said, it's better than the other places in the area (e.g. Kinders). I have never tried the free ice cream, but have no doubts self-serve ice cream is a haven for salmonella.

All around decent and cheap BBQ. I usually get the rib plate. The place is pretty straightforward and there are no frills other than food. In general Pacific Commons has come a long way as a destination place. I highly enjoy the experience of food and maybe a movie and desert.

So I was too hungry to stop and take a picture. Sorry. But the food was good. I got the three meat choice with ribs, pulled pork and spicy sausage. My sides were green beans and fries. Boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich. Total came out to 20 something and it was worth it. The pulled pork went great with the hot spicy BBQ sauce (they keep their sauce in a warmer) the ribs were good a bit skimpy on meat. The sausages were amazing I wish I had more. The fries were nothing specials. The beans were terrible I thought they would be sautéed with bacon but it was boiled with bacon. My daughter had the turkey with Mac and cheese (free on Sunday) and the turkey was good. Nothing special. The Mac was amazing. I wish I had that instead of green beans. The free ice cream hit the spot in the end. It is a little softer than most soft serves but good.

My Lovely Co Pilot and I were cruising back from Yountville in the Down Low Speedster Whip . We started talking about Dinner and BBQ. Dickey's"s came to mind so we rolled there . We wandered in. I went with the Rib Plate with the Jalapeno Beans and Mac and Cheese. My Co Pilot went with the Pulled Pork Sammich and Potato Chips. Our food was delivered to our table 10 minutes later. The Ribs were good better with the Hot BBQ sauce. The Beans were good but the Mac and Cheese were a little watery for my Taste. My Co Pilot was enjoying her Pulled Pork Sammich and Chips. We took advantage of the Free Ice Cream cones yummy . And we refilled our Dickeys Growler with our beverages of choice before we rolled out in the Down Low Whip.

I like this place! The meat is always juicy and tender. And free ice cream yum. Add your own sauce mild or hot which I appreciate since I'm anti-spicy. Minus one star because the serving sizes vary greatly between visits. Customer service is A1. The big gulp cup is great also. Got My approval!

I love BBQ, but I gotta say that I'm not a fan of Dickey's. If you're craving homemade BBQ, or some of that great southern BBQ like you find in Kansas City or Atlanta for example - you'll be disappointed. Meal sizes are on the small side, especially for the price, and I've gotten some dried out meat multiple times - no amount of sauce could save it. Service is generally ok - has ranged from aloof and annoyed to helpful and pleasant - depends on the day.

My husband and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now. We came here on a Friday night. The cashier looked like she didn't want to be there. She accidentally gave a customer a broken cup. The customer went up to her for a new cup then the customer tried to hand the cashier the broken cup but the cashier looked annoyed, so the customer asked if she should throw it away herself. The cashier said, "yes" (not even a "yes, please"). Service was quick. Received our order within ten minutes of ordering it. I had the Westerner with pulled pork + spicy cheddar sausage. My husband had the two meat plate with pork ribs and the beef brisket. We also had three sides: Baked potato casserole, jalapeño beans, and mac & cheese. Food were ok. Not the best BBQ we've had. Very disappointed because we have heard good things about their food from friends and family. The only thing I enjoyed out of my sandwich was the spicy cheddar sausage. The pork ribs were advertised as "fall off the bone ribs," which they weren't. The beef brisket and pulled pork seemed old. Didn't look fresh at all. The sides were decent. At least everything was edible and no one got sick from it. The place itself is clean and kudos for playing country music. However, it isn't enough for my husband and I to come back to this place.

Why have I never heard of this place before?? Ngl, but good bbq in Fremont has never crossed my mind. I mean, there's always Texas road house in union landing but it's a little too fancy for me. I heard about Dickey's roughly a week ago when I was doing a temp job for a company nearby. One of my co-workers suggested that I come here to try the beef brisket because it as supposedly super good. Coincidentally, I actually tried it with the same co-worker today. He suggested that I either order the daily special or go for one of the meat combos. Of course, I had to stick with my protein, that's the reason I went right? I ordered the 2 meat combo that comes with 2 sides as well - chopped beef brisket, 2 pork ribs, bbq beans and the baked potato casserole. When you come to dickey's, you order at the counter, they'll give you a number and you sit down, pretty simple. The food arrived about 10 minutes later and boy was it a lot of food. I've got to say, my co-worker was right, the pros were huge and everything tasted pretty good (except the beans, they tasted like they were from a can). The reason I'm giving this place 4 instead of 5 stars is because I've had better bbq for the same price, but this wasn't bad. Another thing I like about this place is that they provide free soft served ice cream and pickles! It's a pretty chill restaurant that offers you plenty of options, I wish there were more places like this.

My first time here and loved the self-served ice cream! Had the pulled pork and turkey breast. Both were very good. I like that the pulled pork comes without the sauce and you can add as much or as little as you like on your own. The service was so-so but this is mostly a self served establishment.

I had their smokehouse salad, no cheese and ranch on the side. it was good but the meat was dry. so i added their mild bbq sauce and it tasted better. I had leftovers and added some avocado and turkey meat in it and it was delicious! good thing I was creative!

Have been here twice now. The first time my food and my sons was cold :-( I guess its also my fault and I could have said something but I always hate to do that in fear that they're gonna do something worse to my food. Ie spit in it or something... Besides it being cold it was still tasty and we liked the sauce. I the brisket and it was a tad dry, my son got the pulled pork and loved it. Anyways I was shopping nearby with my mom from out of town and I decided to give it another try, this time we both got the pulled park, Mac n cheese and slaw. It was all good and HOT this time. I will be back :-)

I was really teetering on either 3 or 4 stars for this place. My final decision is 4 stars and this is why: I came in on a Thurs and had no idea what to get. I decided on the Westerner with 2 pick of meats for $7.75. The girl at the counter told me their daily deal today was the Westerner meal with drink for $9. A meal included 2 sides with a large drink, but the choice of meat was preselected. Today it was chopped brisket and sausage. My choice of sides was the potato salad and BBQ beans. The bread on the sandwich was nicely grilled and then topped with the meat. Not stuffed, just a medium serving. The meat was dry and kinda flavorless. I guess that's what the BBQ sauce was for. I tried both the mild and spicy and spicy def had the better taste. I found that if i didn't dip, it wasn't tasty at all. The potato salad was really yummy. I can taste sour cream blended into it and you can also taste the small bits of egg whites with a nice hint of dill weed. I happen to really like this blend as it wasn't too potatoey. The BBQ beans was ok. Certainly not as good as Famous Dave's but much better than Van De Camp's. The drink was Big Gulp sized. Guess everything IS bigger in Texas. The free ice cream was a nice touch although there is no toppings for it at all. It comes in every flavor as long as long as you like Vanilla. I think for $9, it was quite a fantastic deal and you're guaranteed to fill your fat belly like Boss Hogg. It certainly isn't the best BBQ, but it won't make a big pit in your wallet for dinner.

Its good bbq, great staff. I enjoy the beef brisket, the bbq honey ham not so much honey. Good mac&cheese, good mash potatoes and beans meh. I dislike that they meats are served room temperature, sides were the hottest. Last the bread is really tasty too!

I give this place 3.5 stars. This place is obviously no Phil's BBQ but you cant hate them for tryin! I came here for lunch and there was sorta a long line that moves pretty slowly. The food came out fairly quickly so that's always nice. I was considering getting the pulled pork sandwich but I attempted to avoid carbs by going for the salad. None of the salads include pulled pork so I just asked for it and they made my wish come true. The salad ended up being less than $10 for a pretty legit size. It comes with thin slices of onion peels, pulled pork and a piece of buttery bread. The salad already seems unhealthy as I type this but at least I felt better. The pulled pork was actually pretty good and I would definitely prefer this over chicken since it is crunchy and tender at the same time. I asked for the dressing on the side and ended up not using it to be healthy. I countered that healthy choice by eating up those fried onion pieces and that bread. Damn oh well. Nonetheless, that salad actually had quite a lot of meat and it definitely filled me up. I would say it was a good Friday lunch. **TIPS** 1) Ask for pulled pork in your salad. Pretty good! If you want to be healthy, ask for no bread, no friend onion, and dressing on side. It just sat in my plate so I had to eat it.... 2) It says if you check in, you get a free ice cream but I found out that everyone gets free ice cream. The machine is just lying out there in the open. There is also a huge jar of pickles if you are feeling that. 3) Enjoy!

Man if u eat like a bird then this is the place for you.My 2meat plate was so small it didn't fill my 2yr old. Ribs are moist n taste well but now they don't sell hot links anymore so that's another downer. They're side dishes are good but not worth the trip. I'd rather go to Carmen's.

Dickey's is authentic enough to be a fast food version of a Texas BBQ. You got rackety country music playing when you walk in the door that sets the tone. A bunch of posters with their menu items pictured greets you next so you can make an intelligence choice of what to want before you advance toward the ordering counter. I ordered their Texas Style Chopped Beef Brisket sandwich. It said it was a "new" menu item, but I've seen other Yelpers review it, so it can't be that new, waffle fries and a Coke (in their big yellow cup of course). Service was quick, it took less than ten minutes to receive my order. I had taken a few of the complementary pickle slices from the jar to munch on while waiting, but the food came before I could finish them. What the sandwich consisted of is slightly sweet chopped beef brisket on a bun that was toasted and lightly buttered, and a few pieces of sliced onions and pickles mixed in with the beef. Yummy. The waffle fries were super fresh and tasty. One good thing they have done since my last visit here is that they replaced the paper towels on a roll they use to have on each table with a big red box of napkins. Much more sanitary. I also had some of that soft vanilla ice cream. Not very flavorful and too watery. Dickey's is the kind of place you don't want to eat at too often, or you will grow tired of it quickly.

Always wanted to try this place out. Came in on a Friday night and not crowed at all. Calm actually. The food was amazing! I ordered the BBQ chicken and 2 sides (Caesar salad & bacon green beans) the roll was like butter! Free refills and a free ice cream cone :) the atmosphere was awesome. The customer service was great. Did not have to wait long at all for our food. Definitely coming back to try their ribs! Oh by the way, my friend said their brisket , Mac n cheese & BBQ beans were to die for! Recommend this place!

As Jerry the Minion would say, "Whaaat??" Me at a chain restaurant, that too a franchise? Well, back from the days when I used to detest Dickey's in Plano, Texas, I was skeptical of the Fremont franchise. (I had visions of a certain type of cost-cutting, franchise owner, nickel and diming things to death, and demotivating his employees at a rapid pace). But...I was surprised... Firstly, if you've read my reviews, quality of meat is Uber important to me. After the terrible experience I had at Kinder's down the road with nasty, cold, expensive sandwiches and just not good meat, this place was good! Their chicken never tastes frozen nor has the rubbery stink and texture typical of most places. Their meats are flown in from Texas and smoked out back here in Fremont. 3 stars for: Kids-eat-free Sundays, consistent food quality, simple yet tasty sandwiches, pretty low prices, and good quality meats. Not 4 stars, because there are better bar-b-qs, but honestly, none in the Bay Area. Nope, not even the over-hyped South Bay or San Fran or PA or whatever hipster place claims to have good bar-b-q. Nope, for that, it has to be Texas, Tennessee, or anywhere down South... A special star for being a bar-b-q place in Asian-restaurant-ville Fremont. *Oh, and the guys at the cash registers are always pretty chill and friendly. My message to the franchise owner: Keep it up, keep the standard going, and be kind to the employees!

Had a lunch time errand in Fremont, and it was near lunch time. I drove around Automall Parkway, and found this place. It was pretty early for lunch, and there were a lot of tables open. Order at the counter, get a number, find a table, then wait for your order to come out. Lots of tables and booths, and very clean inside. You can choose what kind of sauce you want, and there's a big jar for serve-yourself whole dill pickles. Another big plus? There's free, all you can eat self-serve soft serve ice cream. That's a big plus with me! I ordered a "Westerner," which is a BBQ sandwich with chose of two meats, and a choice of two sides. Good selection of meats and sides. For meats, I chose beef brisket and sausage, with cole slaw and waffle fries for sides ( yelp.com/biz_photos/U_Z4… ). The sandwich was topped with American cheese, pickles, and onions. The brisket was a little dry, but quickly remedied with extra BBQ sauce on top. It was a pretty filling sandwich. I was tempted to take a couple of trips to get some of their free ice cream, but knowing I had a meeting at work in a half hour, I held off. Didn't want to go into a food coma during that meeting. Overall, not too bad for a chain BBQ joint. May come back again if I'm in the area.

I guess the word that comes to mind is....meh. Not bad and not good. If you are in the mood for BBQ it will hit the craving but will leave you wanting more. The meat tastes like it has been under heat lamps for too long and the ice cream frankly is gross. Yes it is free but gross. The free pickles are good and I like their BBQ sauce. So at the end of the day fremont is due for a better BBQ place but until then we have Dickey's.

Came to Dickey's on a Friday with my hubby. We had received a gift card for this place, and decided to try it. It was semi-packed for a Friday night. Nothing too crazy. We were able to order right away - beef brisket with baked beans and waffle fries for me, and a beef brisket sandwich with waffle fries for the hubby. The food is pretty good. And it usually comes out fast. It's really casual, so it's more of a dine and run type of place. Even my husband said that their setup made him feel like he was in a rush to eat, since it has a little bit of a fast food vibe to it. After you finish, they have free soft serve ice cream that you can serve yourself. All in all its an ok place.

As if they don't give you enough of food already, the pickles and ice cream are free for grab. I usually order the pulled-pork and it tastes fine but nothing out of the ordinary.

this is my favorite chain BBQ place. they have good prices, and a special on most days. They have a wide variety of tasty meat. Plenty of good sauce and free pickles too.

I left this place COMPLETELY and utterly SATISFIED. If you are a BBQ fan, this place really lives up to the saying, finger lickin good!! I got the rib plate, the Friday special , for $10. Also, it's only $1 to add a second side so why not! Especially with the sides they offer! On my plate 5 long ribs - tender to the point where the meat falls off the bone. I dip it in the hot BBQ , slightly spicy with a light burn. Baked Potato Casserole - fancy name for loaded mashed potatoes. Comes with bacon and a little cheese. Not very creamy potatoes. Macaroni and Cheese- loved this! Larger noodles in a creamy cheese sauce. The cheese had the perfect consistency (not too wet/dry) Biscuit and Corn - their biscuit is hot and compliments the meat so well! Drink- You get a big yellow cup which you can refill. I also tried some of my friend's brisket (tasty and tender), waffle fries, and onion strings. Only thing I didn't like was their potato salad. They puree it up instead of the usual chunky pieces of potato. It was also yellow in color. They also have free soft serve vanilla ice cream and large whole pickles!! Yummy. Kudos to the fast, friendly service.

Hofbrau meets KFC's bbq sandwich. It's good quality for the price. Pickles and soft serve make it feel like a cafeteria. Macaroni and cheese was great.

  • Sam K.

Great fresh sandwiches. I like the pull pork it's extremely delicious. They also have a good variety of sauces you can choose yourself on the counter and a lot of fresh juicy pickles! During busy hours it may take 20 minutes to get your food served.

Not the best BBQ I've had, but it's not horrible either. Fremont doesn't have very many BBQ joints to choose from and when I'm not in the mood to BBQ for myself, I head here. My go to meat of choice is the chopped brisket sandwich ($5.50) with their special BBQ sauce. My dad makes a better brisket, but since he's not cooking any, I'll get mine here. The sauce is pretty tasty too and I usually get a little container extra to pour on top. You can't have too much. After dinner, help yourself to the soft serve vanilla ice cream in either a cup or cone for free. Not all bad for a $6 dinner!

REVIEW ALL THE DICKEY'S! Wrote 2 negative reviews of locations for a chain I like as a whole... well, let's review every one I've been to in 6 months :-P This one's solid. Walk in, order, they'll bring the food to you. Excellent value, especially daily combos. Under $10 for a plate with 2 sides and a drink? plus free ice cream and pickles? I challenge you to beat that anywhere in the Bay Area. Pros of Dickey's * Great meat (except for the ribs). Brisket, pulled pork, spicy cheddar sausage... mmm! * several good if not exceptional sides (onion tanglers, mac & cheese, fried okra) * Free pickles and ice cream * Usually friendly service * Great value * Free ice cream + soda = root beer float? Cons: * Food is solid, not amazing. 3.5 stars for the food, but excellent prices kicks it up to 4. I can find better BBQ than Dickey's locally, but not a better value. The price for the whole package keeps bringing me back :-)

I've never been to the actual location but I've had their catering more than once [which is from this location I believe]. Their food is REALLY good! I especially love the rolls!! Craving one right now. Maybe one day I'll stumble into here some time.

This place is okay the last few times I've gone there (not my choice) the ribs had hardly any meat on them and instead had lots of fat there other meat is okay but overall I'm not really impressed

I really like Dickies BBQ. The food is consistently good and usually arrives quickly. Love the hot BBQ sauce. The only thing that I don't like is that they don't bus the tables regularly. It seems every time I eat there I have to wipe my own table down. It's a great casual joint to get some good BBQ and I will continue to eat here.

  • Dano G.

I wanted some BBQ type food. This is comparable to Armadillo Willy's, but the menu differs a tiny bit. You can nab a pickle from the communal pickle jar. The meats are a tad better than Willy's, but the ambiance isn't the same as Famous Dave's, whereas it's way more quiet here and there's no bar.

Sooo good! Came here with my boyfriend the other day. We both got to two meat combo platter. I got the hot links and ribs, my boyfriend got the bbq chicken and hot links. Also comes with two sides and a bread roll! I got the potato salad and waffle fries, my boyfriend got the waffle fries and macaroni and cheese. The mac and cheese and waffle fries were amazing. The ribs were fall off the bone! They also have this spicy bbq sauce that you HAVE to try. Amazing. And free soft served ice cream! I would definitely come here again. Bill was about $27.

  • Michelle T.

Hmm..I have to say this place is just okay, nothing special. I definitely would not make a special trip to come here. We ended up getting the family meal. The ribs were standard and the BBQ. chicken was dry. We choose baked beans and macaroni. We also chose a side Caesar salad which was huge. I checked in on yelp and unlocked a special offer for ice cream. I felt super embarrassed by helping myself to an ice cream cone and then showed the staff my deal on my phone. He said no need to show it since the ice cream is free all day everyday.

I don't usually like giving bad reviews. If I don't enjoy it whatever... I just won't go back right...? But The food made me sick. Like physically, mentally, & spiritually sick. 1. The brisket thing i got looked like someone had already chewed it and thrown it up. 2. It smelled like cat food from the sea. 3. The free ice cream was a weird consistency & tasted funky. This review is just a warning. I ate it at 7pm & it's 4:35 am and my stomach is killing me. I cannot sleep. I need my stomach pumped or something, I want to die :( BTW I wrote this a year ago on my phone, but never had the chance to post it. So if their food has gotten better since then GOOD for them!

I go to this Dickey's quite often and have always had a good meal. The meats are normally cooked to proper BBQ standards for the style of meat ordered. I enjoy the fried Okra and the Jalapeno beans as my sides and a snag most of my wife's waffle fries as well. The warm BBQ sauce is a nice touch, as are the dill pickle spears and soft serve ice cream. I prefer the spicier sauce to use for dipping as good BBQ doesn't really need sauce. Too many BBQ places seem to think BBQ is any kind of meat drenched in BBQ sauce. The staff has always been pleasant on my visits. Any Dickey's is not my go to place for great BBQ, but places like that are few and far between. However, Dickey's is a nice place for when you want good BBQ in a convenient location with good prices.

  • Pammy L.

Not impressed by the food! This is a BBQ fast food joint where you pay at the cashier then they bring the food out to you. I ordered the rib plate with caesar salad and mashed potatoes. The ribs were just OK, a bit greasy and nothing near falling off the bones. The bbq sauce is very sour! They offer self-serve non-spicy and spicy BBQ sauce. The mashed potatoes were pasty tasting like they came from a box!! Yea you get free ice cream and kids eat free Sundays. Neither appeal to me, so I'd rather spent more money for better tasting BBQ. I won't be back unless it's for the daily Manager's Special.

If you want to gain 20 pounds come here. Food is so fattening but so good. Love the free ice cream.

    (4)
  • Larry N.

It's a chain. You need to know that going in. Mac and cheese from a box? Cole slaw from KFC? Brisket was decent. Polish sausage was more like a hot dog.

    (3)
  • Venna Q. T.

It used to be pretty good when it first opened. Then the flavor of the BBQ started to diminish and the prices started to increase. Too bad, so sad. Someone needs to open an amazing BBQ joint in Fremont please!

I cannot express my true feelings because my review would be immediately flagged for content. So let me just summarize with a series of factual statements, and you can fill in the blanks: California law requires all restaurant staff to wash their hands before returning to work. California law does NOT require patrons to wash their hands ever. The ice cream and the pickles are self-serve, not operated by staff. Myself and three other people became extremely ill after eating here. Coincidence?

  • Keith M.

Come on, it's just good old fashioned bbq. The sauce is pretty darn good an all the meats are delicious! I love the pulled pork because it's not super fatty. The sausage is really goo too. And I dare you to tell me the fried okra isn't awesome! Don't forget the complimentary pickles and ice cream, you can eat the separately or together, before your meal, during or after! The prices are pretty nominal, a family of four can get a picnic meal for about $30! And again, ice cream for the kids! Lunch or dinner, give them a try if you haven't already.

I like to come here for the brisket. The food is good and the staff is attentive. Check out their meat by the pound its a great deal especially if you are doing a high protein diet. Great place. Great prices.

I was recently down in South Fremont, and popped into Dickies. A long lunch time line indicated that it was pretty darn good. And it was. This is a chain, of course (of which Fremont has many), but it's a very good chain. The BBQ sauce is on the hot and spicy side. Bread is great. Free ice cream. Brisket was awesome. Beans are good and fried okra was as good as we can get in Oklahoma (where I grew up). Drinks however are very expensive - like $2.25 for a soda and that's about your only option. So if you are cheap (as I am), just ask for water. $2.25 for a soda vs. about $12.00 for a whole heapin' plate of food just don't make no sense, Dickies! (The drinks are, in sum, a rip off). Bring your appetite, forget the diet and have a great time! (Sneak in a soda LOL).

  • Kay A.

Most of the time this place is great, sometimes however they are out of things (like potatoes), or forget to put in your order (after you have been waiting 20+ minutes for your food), however the manager is great and always manages to fix the problem so you feel like returning. The food is good, I love the loaded baked potatoe with pulled pork, the sandwiches, mac n cheese, ceasar salad, criss cut fries, etc! The free pickles and ice cream are a huge plus! Gets crowded between 12-1 and 6-8pm.

Was looking for a quick bite since I was running errands all morning and was starving. Saw this place and decided to go all out. I ordered their 2 meat plate with Texas Style Chopped Beef Brisket & Fall-Off-The-Bone Pork Ribs, Mac & Cheese, and Coleslaw. I was disappointed with how dry the Brisket was, but pouring some Mild BBQ sauce helped. The Ribs were great, and indeed Fall-Off-The-Bone. Sides also held their own. I guess you can't really compare to real Texas BBQ, but next time I'm craving some, I'll come back for the Ribs.

They're basically fast food bbq but they're really yummy fast food bbq! Here are 3 reasons why they're awesome.... 1. Food's yum. The meat's pretty darn good and now they have ham too :) 2. You get free pickles and ice cream with your meal! There's a jug of pickles and a self serve ice cream machine in front of the order counter. 3. Kids eat free on Sundays!

We tried the family pack that fed 4 people and picked the pulled pork. Our food came out quickly with our choice of side dishes (beans and coleslaw). They had complimentary unlimited dill pickles and soft serve ice cream in this location. It was not only delicious but very satisfying. Let's not forget the most amazing spicy bbq sauce that a must try. We will come back soon to try other things on the menu.

Really, fast food restaurants don't deserve reviews. But this place has the best fast food BBQ. Gotta love the country muzak playing in the background. It's clean, the service is fast and its better than some non chain BBQ spots. I bet the original Dickey's was much better. The Sides are a bit small and the portions are not huge either, but its the right amount of food. Free pickles.

Thos place is the best!!! Gimme some sweet rolls! Yummo. The one in Modesto is good too but the service here is second to none. Love me some BBQ any day.

ordered the ribs and chicken.....came to the table cold and had a tablespoon of BBQ sauce thrown on it, did not look fresh, juicy or appetizing ordered potato salad and Mac n cheese....the potato salad is something you'd find at a school cafeteria, it was cubes of potato in a gross cheap dill sauce...very industrial the Mac n cheese was noodles with some melted nacho sauce. the BBQ sauce is okay and the hot version of it is the regular BBQ sauce with some red pepper flakes thrown in this place sucks

Well...it's a Dickie's. This isn't particularly good bbq, but it's as good a southern bbq as you'll find in this area without having to go up to Oakland. So I come here every now and then when I get a bbq craving. Then after I eat here I always regret it because I feel terrible. And then a month later I'm back again. I usually get the sliced brisket and pulled pork. Really good pulled pork is a rarity, but on the other hand so is really bad pulled pork. It's hard to screw it up as long as you give it enough time and there's some sort of smoke involved. And as a weapon of last resort there's always bbq sauce. Brisket is much trickier, and it's easy to dry out. I think 2 out of 3 times the sliced brisket here is moist. It's also got something of a gelatinous texture, I'm not sure what they do to it. They do have fried okra. Frozen fried okra. But there isn't a Church's here anywhere, and it's pretty hard to find fried okra in this area. So there's that. But yeah. Dickie's...

This place was just okay. My boyfriend really wanted to try it out because it's been in Fremont for a while now and we just never go in. We shared the two meat plate and a stuffed baked potato. For the two meat plate, we got the ribs and the Texas beef one. The meat was very average and there was nothing that I thought was amazing about it. The Texas one was actually pretty bland and there were only two pieces of ribs. The ribs were not as juicy as many other places that I've tried either. The side orders were even better than the main portions. For the side orders, we got the onion fries and criss cross fries. They were pretty delicious and crunchy and had just the right amount of flavor. The baked potato was yummy because it was fully loaded and I alwayyyyyys love my baked potato. I'm a potato addict. Love them carbs. It also was not bland like some baked potatoes I've tried before. Some places do not have enough toppings that could cover the whole inside but Dickey's had enough toppings (which makes the dish fattier but I'm a fatty, so that's just how I like it). The food came out really fast and the bbq sauces that they leave out for your taking were pretty good. I liked the spicy one more than the regular because it was much more flavorful. There's also free soft served ice cream but it was just not as yummy. It was not as creamy because it was more melted. That was disappointing because I always love my soft served ice cream :[. I would probably not come back if I had a choice because it was just very ordinary. I could go to Tony Roma's and get much better ribs. However, you get to keep the big yellow cup if you order a drink and there's free soft served ice cream!

Why does this only have 3 stars? What am I missing? It was really good BBQ? Especially liked the sides - 4 stars Value was really good (not that much more McDs) - 5 stars FREE ICE CREAM - 5 stars Decent setting, they have booths and seating for large parties. Service was very good and prompt. The manager stopped by and was friendly. Just for the food, I would give this place 4 stars but given the overall experience, I am rounding up to a 5. In the words of Arnie...."I will be back".

An update to Dickey's... Fried okra! Done right with a light cornmeal breading, not greasy, litghtly salted... I normally don't like okra, but decided to have it as a side - now I'm a fan... Their hot link big bbq sandwich was awesome as usual. Their hot links have a great flavor, texture, and snap to it... Still a great spot for the Q-fix!

I'm from the south so I'm very picky when it comes to BBQ. But if you are looking for just plain no frills BBQ in Fremont this place isn't the worst choice. The sauce is pretty good and the beans are spicy and not too sweet. Ribs are tender and the sauce on them was tasty. It's pretty good for a chain BBQ place.

First time trying Dickies BBQ today! As far as service goes: the girl at the counter was SUPER helpful.. made a huge difference! We had no idea what to order but she kept a smile on her face, was super patient and even made a few recommendations! I've experienced some pretty shitty customer service so I appreciate great service when I receive it. 5 stars for service! As for the food: it was good.. Not great, but good! My bf had a sandwich with pulled pork and sausage link, I had a salad with onion strings and grilled chicken. I like that they have many meat choices! They also have quite a few sides to choose from. Their Mac n cheese was.. amazing! 3 stars for the food.. Average= 4 stars!

Dickey's has to compete with the Kindle Meats down the street so they have some steep competition. I ordered the pull pork at on time and the brisket the next week. I should have Yelped it the first time, my bad. The pulled pork is moist and tender, it was better then average. I was disappointed in the brisket, which was dry and not that much flavor. They offer many sides such as baked beans, coleslaw, fried pickles, fried onions and many others. I ordered the coleslaw and it definitely taste better then the KFC coleslaw. I think next time I'lI try the ribs to see if they really know how to barbq. Dickey's offers free stuff such as pickles and frosty cones, which the counter person said that it was free of lactose so you don't have to worry about an upset stomach if you are lactose intolerant.

Big Stuffed Baker $5.49 Large Drink $1.99 Total: $8.21 I should really stop buying baked potatoes because they are so not worth my five bucks and I can make my own for far much cheaper, yet I can't because I love baked potatoes. The potato came with sour cream, butter, shredded cheddar, and bacon bits. It did not come with green onions. The macaroni and cheese was not made with elbow macaroni, but with shell pasta. The hoagie was tiny! The waffle fries and potato salad were good. Chicken nuggets are only on the kid's menu. I really wanted chicken nuggets. Every order comes with free barbeque sauce and soft serve cone. Drinks come in a 12oz. plastic souvenir cup... as if anyone would want to reminisce this fast food joint!

  • Jlyn T.

I love BBQ. With that being said this place is pretty disappointing. The meat is dry. If it was good bbq, I wouldn't need sauce in my opinion. The meal would've been okay if it were 6.50 instead of 11.50. It just made me want to pull out the grill and bbq myself.

Ate here with the family for dinner, when lots of other people were here for dinner. It seemed really catastrophic inside, maybe it's all the hectic shuffling back and forth from your seat to the counter, to the soda fountain, to the free stuff, back to the counter because your order is wrong, back to your seat, times 25 families. The food, imho, was slightly below average for barbecue. I wasn't fond of my ribs or my sides. They mixed up our order and brought out stuff that we hadn't ordered, and did not bring out stuff that we had. It was confusing and it took a while to fix. In the meantime, I thought I'd take advantage of the free soft serve and make a root beer float, but everyone seemed to be hoarding it by the cup full, for I don't know what. It was ridiculous how crowded the ice cream machine was. It was to the point where the soft serve was more wet than soft. Bleh. There were free pickles too, but I wasn't waiting behind people for that. The jar is located between the soda machines, and the soft serve machines. There was such fighting over who got to do what, that I pretty much gave up. After waiting patiently for my turn to fill up my cup, having adults cut in front of you to fill up 4 cups of soda is a major turn off. I eat pretty slow, but since they were making more food for the rest of the family, I ended up finishing with everyone. Good timing guys.

This place was actually a very delicious spot, the down side, a bit pricey for what you get. Food quality and flavors were definitely there, but the amount you pay for a plate and the quantity you get seemed to be a few bucks too much. The big yellow cup? Cool. A plastic LARGE cup for drinks, refillable, and you can take it home for a souvenir? Free Pickle spears, soft serve? COOL. The soft serve is quite delicious too. Most likely will come back with company if we crave bbq

This place is terrible. The meat has a plastic processed texture and artificial smoke flavor. We took one bite, and got up and left. The people who love places like Hometown Buffet will love Dickey's because of the serve-yourself freebies. We didn't.

Only had the Lil' Hoggie for $3 with pulled pork. I wasn't that hungry so it was pretty satisfying. The pulled pork was quite tasty, especially with bbq sauce. My friend had a baked potato and it was huge! Stuffed and was almost twice the size of my sandwich. A cool thing too is that they have free vanilla cream and whole pickles.

This place's atmosphere reminded me of Armadillo Willy's... I ordered the BBQ beef brisket sandwich and only that. It was totally not worth $5.70. The sandwich was very small and I finished it in a few bites. The BBQ sauce was okay and it almost reminded me of Kinder's just down the street. Open daily: 11am to 9pm

My fiance and I had been wanting to check out this place for a while. We finally went in this restaurant for lunch this past Sunday. When we walked in the restaurant was full. That seemed like a good sign of tasty food. Dicky's BBQ is set up where you order and pay for what you want to eat or drink at the counter. Once that is taken care of, you place a number on your table, and they will bring your order out to your table. Close by the counter, you can get all you can eat whole pickles and ice cream that is included with each meal. My fiance order the pork rib plate. I ordered the plate with a choice of two meats. I chose beef brisket and pork ribs. Both our meals came with a choice of a side dish, a corn on the cob, and a biscuit. My fiance was happy with her the taste of her pork ribs. On the other hand, my beef brisket was minced meat instead of slices of beef like I had envisioned. I found that I was not all that keen on their BBQ sauce, so I ate the beef brisket without sauce. The beef did not have that much taste. The pork ribs tasted okay though. They were cooked to the point where they easily came off the bone, and they were pretty good with or without the BBQ sauce. All in all, we would go back to Dicky's BBQ because the food and service was pretty good. I just won't order the beef brisket anymore.

For me, the hot bbq sauce alone is worth 5 stars!! Spicy and a tad overwhelming, the sauce is worth the unbelievable taste. I am not a bbq sauce eater at all but I la la love this and complements the meat so well! 4 of us shared the 3 meat combo and had the chicken, brisket and ribs with sides of the fries, mac and cheese and green beans and bacon. The meats were very tender and moist. The ribs fell off the bones and was heaven when dunked not once but twice into the sauce. The brisket had enough fatty pieces on it that kept you from going on a diet. I didn't touch much of the chicken. The sides were very flavorful, even the green beans which were infused with a smokey bacon taste. You can definitely get me to eat my veggies that way! I wonder if anyone is up for a drive... craving some meat right now!

This place is comparable to armadillo willy's. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The free ice cream is a big plus if you like ice cream and/or have kids. Its definitely family friendly. The brisket is good. You can taste the smokey flavor. BBQ sauce has a slight more tomato tang compared to armadillo. My husband ordered the brisket plate and it was sliced. I ordered a giant baked potato topped with brisket and it was chopped. I liked the chopped brisket better (it was as dry....but tasted just the same). None of our meat was fatty...very lean. I'm not a fan of their potato salad though. It has a different texture than what I'm use to. I think my husband and I will probably be regulars.

Great place for BBQ. Simple menu. Had the chicken sandwich with 2 sides and they were quite yummy. Also tried the brisket which was also quite good. Free condiments and ice cream cones.

Went here for a late lunch and got the BBQ turkey sandwich with baked beans on the side, and i was a lil disappointed. First off the "Turkey" was not real tukey meat at all but pressed processed meat that was salty and had a gelatinous texture to it. They throw in some BBQ sauce on the side i guess to try to mask the flavor of the meat. The Beans were OK 'cept they were on the salty side. Cost about 10 bucks when you throw in that plasitc yellow cup for a drink, this sandwich meal was a lil on the steep side. Yea they do have things to distract like free dill pickles and all you can eat soft serve icecream, but the BBQ left me wanting more. I may come back and try something else next time. OK for a onetime experience or not

Not so much! I came looking for bbq and I knew I should have walked right out of the door upon entering. I thought oh well I'll give it a go. UGHH!!! What was this! Pulled pork had no bbq flavor at all and was like a weird light gray color! And no it 'did not melt in my mouth' like some of those mentioned...I will just chalk that up to peeps who have never been to texas and/or tennesee. Skip.

I was skeptical about the place at first thinking it was just another bbq fast food joint but the food was really high quality and not typical "fast food". You order the food and runners come and bring it to you. Try the ribs and the sausage links. When you get sides, the waffle fries and Mac&cheese are awesome. Also, if you like the bread at Texas Road House, the bread at Dickeys is better. Whats also nice is that there is a soft serve machine for all customers. You do not need to buy it separately. Try it once and you will not go to another bbq place again.

Found this place by accident; was on my way to Applebee's. This is right next door and was p-a-c-k-e-d, which meant to me: very good. I had the 1 meat with two sides (waflle fries and mac/cheese). Not bad! The turkey was so good, I did not need much BBQ sauce. But the fries were off the hook! This place is a chain from Texas and has been around since 1941! No wonder it is run so efficiently. You place your order and they bring your food to you, about the same time you've already gone through the very stacked condiments bar and the serve your self hot sauce stand. I also made a dash to serve yourself beverage area and chose from several different ice teas (what a nice change). Now, you ask what else can make this a better experience? Well, the manager went table to table to check on your food and reminded me that there was FREE soft serve ice cream! Wow, that sure put a smile on my face :)

This place is just okay if you are craving BBQ. Like Emil's better. But this place does have it's pros: buttered rolls, free swirl ice cream, the mac n cheese (per my daughter) Sunday's kids eat free, the brisket is okay. Cons: kinda on the pricey side for BBQ, the pickle they give (okay so it's free) you is not great, so so potato salad. So it's not a bad review, but nor is it a good review. BTW, don't let them sucker you into buying you a $1.99 soda (seems like it's the only size avail) but ask for the kid's size cup for .99. Come on now, it's free refills?!

Me and my husband have gone to this place a few times now since its been open. We enjoy the bbq here. I always get the bbq ribs with a salad and potatoe casserole and my husband gets the sausage sandwich. It's quickly served and you ahve to admit that the free self serve ice cream is awesome. Oh and they have free large dill pickles, which i haven't tried considering I hate pickles.

Their food is disgusting and their ribs is soo dry. Please do not go there, it's soo expensive there. It is not really worth it.

I tried the beef brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich with a co-worker. The meat was tender but not as flavorful as I hoped. I love pulled pork sandwiches, but at Dickey's, I actually preferred the beef brisket. It was not fatty and had good flavor. Their BBQ (regular & hot) sauce , coleslaw and sweet tea are very good. I tried their barbeque beans twice - not consistent as they had a slight burnt flavor but I'd order again. The large pickles and free soft serve ice cream were a nice touch. I loved the reusable cup though they didn't tell us that we could bring them back for a discount on drinks on the next visit.

I am not really a BBQ lover so I guess my comment would be bias, but I gave 3 stars because of the meat. I order the babyback ribs and the meat was dry as hell, thought I was eating jerkey. Gave 3 star b/c the staff was nice. I personally would not go back.

I was reluctant to eat here after reading a few reviews but I have to say I was pleasantly suprised. I ordered the brisket meal with mac n cheese and baked potato casserole and drink. It cost about 13 bucks and came wiith a roll. The brisket was pretty tender and good. The BBQ sause and mac n cheese were a tad plain but the roll was pretty darn good. I would say that it is a step up from Armadillo Willy's. My only gripe was it was a bit pricey. It left me full enough, just not "13 dollars full." Worth a try if you're in the mood for semi-fast food/ sitdown bbq. (closer to 3.5 stars)

Food is just ok. It's too generic of a taste for me. Decent prices and it's another alternative if you are a big BBQ fan. The serving sizes were on the small end and the prices were a little high for what they give.

this place SUCKS! everything tasted like boiled meat. sure you have extra bbq sauce but even gallon's of the stuff isn't going to mask how bad that bbq is. and it's not even that great. to franchise one of these spots must be part of a get rich quick pyramid scheme or something. i should've thought twice when i saw the racks of pork going into an oven...sorry dickie, an oven is not bbq. i give this place 1 star...only because they give you slices of raw onions with your plate. i love onions...sadly the onions were the best part of my meal.

had the xtra large family pack. sauce was a bit blend. ribs were decent. didn't like the sides-potatoes salads, beans & coleslaw. Beef brisket needs some flavoring....think I'll stick with Southern Heritage, just got to remember to call them 2 hours in advance.

Love the food here. I always get the fries here, they're not your regular McDonald's fries. They're waffle fries and they put some seasoning in it too. The turkey is also good, they're very tender and flavorful. They also have sweet tea which i always get. Also free ice cream!

We recently veered from our usual dinner of the big pulled pork (or Brisket) sandwich w/2 sides- End of last month, we both ordered the 1 meat plate. It comes w/2 sides. One of us ordered the pulled pork w/2 sides of potato salad (YUM!). The other person ordered sliced brisket (you have to state your preference on brisket: sliced or pulled), 1 potato salad & 1 reg. baked beans. The meat plate had a lot of meat!!! We each ordered an extra roll to make mini sandwiches, but neither of us got a chance to eat them (too much food). Everything was very tasty! No complaints about ANYTHING! We come here about 2x a month now & have never been unhappy w/any of our meals. Sometimes, the potato salad isn't chunky enough, but that's about it. *I'm going to reiterate that not only am I a very picky eater (no tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, avocados, etc..), but have health issues that make digestion of a lot of food impossible (garlic, most red meat, processed lettuce, non-organic tomato based products, etc..). Pork is one of the items I have to be careful with. So far, only 2 places have 'edible' (not greasy or fatty) pulled pork or carnitas in Fremont: Dickey's & La Casita. Whomever orders a meat plate, whether it's 1-3 meats, and complains there's not enough meat-maybe they need to rethink portion sizes...just saying! *Snort*Snort* **BONUS: they had the Warriors on too!!!

First timer. Ordered online and picked up Order was made fast. They did forget something in my order, but with two boys I didn't want to make it a big deal. My order included A 2 meat meal with 2 sides Pulled pork burger with 2 sides Kids meal Large Mac and cheese Small salad Totaling to 54 dollars some change. My pulled pork was dry. Where was the beacon at in the green beans ? French fries where good My husband was very disappointed in his serving size. He also said his was dry too My son didn't touch his pull pork. :( Salad was warm, but that could have been from the warm food. Still a bummer I hate warm salad. Over all I feel like their better places out there. Maybe we will have a better experience dining in? I'll give it one more try. Sadly we won't be back for awhile.

The cook was hella funny, she had me laughing, the service was great. For being a "fast food" type of BBQ spot this place was nice. The mac and cheese looked like the type you get from KFC and other places, but the taste was that of homemade. The pulled pork is flavored to perfection. The pricing is really good as well. I will be returning for lunch one day.

Free pickles & ice cream ... YES! Clean, fast & friendly service. Food is ok. The mac & cheese is close to being pretty darn good, needs a little something! I had the pulled pork sammy, love the sauce. Left my wallet here .. or outside ..... or in the parking lot ... Someone left it at my home! Do you know someone who found a wallet saturday & returned to the address on the driver's license? Send them my way! Would love to thank them!

I had a big craving for ribs on a Friday night and Yelped up a place nearby. I was uneasy because of the mixed reviews but decided to come here anyways.. plus.. who doesn't like free ice cream? Well...I for sure made a mistake! I ordered the RIB PLATE which came with 2 sides and a bread roll. I ended up choosing mac & cheese and potato salad. Ribs were not impressive. Came with 6 pieces. Meat was tough and..not enough meat! Mac & cheese was disgusting. The macaroni was overcooked and the cheese tasted weird. Potato salad had too strong of a weird taste. Bread was alright. - $14.95 Friend ordered the FRIDAY SPECIAL which was PULLED PORK, came with 2 sides, a bread roll and a drink. They literally gave a little more than a 1/2 cup of pulled pork. Stingy much? Meat was dry like the ribs. Had to drench in sauce. Friend's choice of sides were mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Mashed potatoes were ok, but it seems like the bacon bits discolored the mashed potatoes..must've been made and set aside for a while. Coleslaw was ok as well. - $9.75 SAUCES: for some reason, the "sweet" sauce tasted more like bbq sauce than the "mild" sauce. Sauces weren't bad though. Both sauces on the sweeter side. FREE ICE CREAM: to think I came here for free ice cream. Ladies and gents, i'll tell you now..free is not always good!!! The ice cream tasted like straight canned frosting! The kind you buy at the grocery store for cakes. YUCK. Total: $26.92 SERVICE: I mentioned to the cashier guy that it was our first time dining at this place. He was not very helpful and was puzzled when I asked him simple questions about the menu. Did not make any recommendations and seemed kind of annoyed that we were taking a while to decide what we wanted to order. Nobody was behind us in line. Won't be back. Try Harry's Hofbrau instead!

You will notice my reviews is getting shorter and shorter. Trying to push my reviews out as fast as this place making their pulled pork sandwiches. Got some waffle iron fries, honey iced tea and side of green beans. Decent tasting. Nothing "wowed" about this place. Donzo!

  • Cindy N.

The best way I can describe the food is that it feels like the meat and sides have all been sitting out all day...even during prime lunch hour. I tried the beef brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Pulled pork was the best of the three, but I don't know if that is saying much. Mashed potatoes had a odd color and tasted old--it was missing the savory creaminess. Surprisingly, the coleslaw wasn't drenched in sauce, which I appreciated. As for the sauces, I thought the honey BBQ was unbearably sweet. The original and spicy were more tolerable. Free ice cream and extra pickles are available.

I have tried Dickeys BBQ before and they still suffer from the same problems . BBQ is sub par , bill was $25.00 but portions were child sized . They no longer offer free pickles . All around disappointing meal . Never left any other BBQ place still feeling hungry .

We had some great service by a young gal at the counter, she was helpful since it was our first time. I had the beef brisket 1 Meat plate. It comes with two sides and a roll. My husband ordered a beef brisket sandwich and a side of fries and a drink. The drinks are huge! He said his sandwich was awesome, I saw it had pickles and onions in it. My meat and two sides were delicious. I had coleslaw and green beans (which have bacon in them). My daughter ate my roll so I can't remark on that. Best thing was at the end of our meal we had the FREE ice cream cones they offer! Of course the whole fam enjoyed that. We will definitely return. Only reason not 5 stars: they could do a better job cleaning the seating areas. The wall had some marks from when kids ate their previous ice creams. It's definitely been there awhile. Floor wasn't bad and the table was wiped down.

My wife and I came here the other night since we had a craving for BBQ. My wife ordered the 1/4 BBQ Rib plate with Mac and Cheese and Cesar Salad. I ordered the two-item plate (BBQ Chicken and Sausage) and got the Cole Slaw and the Baked Potato Casserole. My wife's ribs were really tasty and the meat fell off the bone. She liked her Mac and Cheese and salad. My Chicken was a huge disappointment. It was very dry and not that good. However, my Baked Potato Casserole and Cole Slaw were tasty. They give you their "big yellow cups" for soda, which are HUGE, so I hope you're thirsty. You also can have an ice cream cone, but the ice cream when we went was so soft that it wasn't very good. I really wanted to like Dickey's, but it fell short of my expectation.

I've been here lots of times before, but haven't been coming here for a while. But Saturday afternoon, I came here with my husband. We both ordered the 2 meat plate. I got the sliced beef brisket and spicy cheddar sausage with mac & cheese and green beans. The hubby also got sliced beef brisket & pulled pork with mac & cheese and bbq beans with the large cup for a drink. The brisket was good, but a bit dry. Its flavor was only enhanced by the spicy BBQ sauce I had gotten for it (which is available on the counter where the beverages were at). The spicy cheddar sausage was hella good, probably my favorite out of the plate. As for the sides, the mac & cheese lacked creaminess. It was still good, but could've been more creamy for better texture. Green beans were too salty for me and I usually love green beans so it was disappointing :(. I tried to buy the little yellow cup for a drink as well, but the girl at the counter said it was only for kids meals and the big yellow cups were all they offered. How lame?! I dont want a giant drink. I ended up just asking for a water cup. The only other plus side to this place is the free ice cream you get too. Other than that, I try not to make it a habit to come here.

Ribs and sausages are probably the best one here. Free ice cream cones for anybody that dine in. Free dill pickles as well. Make sure you get enough sauce, cause the sauce goes well with anything. Hint... Thinking about going. Drop by Costco first to get the gift card. I swear to you its a good deal. They are usually $40 for $50 gift cards.

This is a great place to take the little ones along to get a free meal on Sundays although since they have raised their menu prices since I last visited, it would have been far cheaper to go to a regular restaurant. That being said, the BBQ is fresh and tasty. The sides are also yummy. The kids wolfed down their (free) dinners and enjoyed root beer floats they concocted from the free ice cream and root beer sodas. The service was exceptional, especially considering it's a self serve place in many ways. They were more than courteous, friendly, efficient, and kid friendly. And a PS: They no longer have free pickles! (Sniff)

Sad News.....We haven't been out to Dickey's for quite some time, so we decided that last weekend we would go get us some BBQ. It was still early, before 6pm and the restaurant wasn't busy. I don't know how you feel, but, when I walk in to a place that I have been to before and everything just feels different....does the hair on the back of your neck stand up? or....well....It just felt different. We approached the counter with a question....the girl had no idea what was the right answer and she said that she just started a week earlier. I said...I hope that you still have your job next week...as I glanced over at what turned-out-to-be, her manager. He sort of smiled. This was not a great start....The place looked "DIRTY" and the employees were an absolute mess....Not anyone that I would want to be cooking my food, that's for sure....Shabby-sheik? There was absolfnnnlutely no enthusiasm showing anywhere in the restaurant...We asked another question, stood back and .....decided not to chance it. At this point.....Dickey's in Fremont has lost our business....No amount of free ice cream and pickles is going get us back, anytime soon.... So...Sad News for Dickey's....We drove down to Kinder's BBQ which is at the other-end of the Shopping Center and shared a great BBQ Meal for less than it would have cost at Dickey's... and Clean, Friendly, knowledgeable people, working there and very helpful and actually showed us that they wanted our money....by being helpful, pleasant and friendly....FOOD was great....KINDERS BBQ FREMONT....

I've been to several Dickey's locations, and I haven't always had the best experiences. I ordered the sandwich combo with double brisket and chose waffle fries and fried okra as my sides. My daughter got the chicken nuggets with Mac n cheese. Food was tasty, but the service is what I'm reviewing. The young woman behind the counter was beyond friendly and helpful and really put me in a good mood for the rest of the day. SHE (and the sweet tea) are the true recipients of my 5 star review.

I've always heard about Dickeys but hadn't tried it until now . The food was okay . I guess I'm a bit of a BBQ snob , looking for those down home mom n pop gems . For what it's worth I liked the food , it just wasn't the better places I've tried . We went with the family meal . 3 meats and 3 sides ( chicken , brisket , ribs , greens , Mac n Cheese , and fries . The ribs were perfect , the chicken was juicy , and the brisket was above average . I would check out Dickeys if I was in the area again , craving BBQ .

Stopped by and ordered two Big BBQ sandwiches- Pulled Pork & Sliced Brisket. I am glad I ate the Pulled Pork one first, tasty, moist however the Brisket - was meh, tender but lacked any flavor, very bland. I wondering what the heck am I chewing? Maybe need more rub? Service was good as always but I still can't get over the bland sliced brisket.

I actually liked this place! I'm not a huge fan of bbq, but the way this restaurant is set up with the complimentary ice cream/pickles, the portion of the foods, and the big yellow cup made me a happy camper... and I'll definitely be back! This is set up like a fast food restaurant: take your order at the front, sit down, and an employee will bring your food. To my surprise, the food came out in a very quick time (5 minutes!). I ordered the steak baked potato and my bf ordered the rib plate with onion fries and caesar salad. The rib was delicious, the meat came off the bone wonderfully and it tasted amazing. I dipped in the hot bbq sauce, which wasn't so hot, and enjoyed it. The baked potato was actually really good. Huge, lots of meat, and my bf and I barely finished it.Our meal came out to $24, pretty good for the quality and portions. I wished the onion fries were onion rings instead, they tasted like those crunchy onions you add on your salad. The complimentary pickles are a great way to start and finish a meal. Love the big yellow cup, got tons of soda with free refill!

I like this place. I usually get the pulled pork and it's always really tender. They give you buns with it, so I usually make a little sandwhich. I like the baked potato casserole, it's like mashed potatoes with cheese, green onions and bacon. I also usually get the mac and cheese, which is pretty good. I like that you can choose your BBQ sauce, mild or spicy, and get as much as you'd like. Bonus, customers get free vanilla soft serve.

Tuesday Lunch Review Deal of the Day - 3 ribs 2 sides (fried okra and baked potato casserole) w/drink $9.99 I will preface that this is a fast food bbq place it is NOT a formal BBQ restaurant like many that I've been to in Austin, Dallas, etc. The quality of the ribs way very good, cooked appropriately and a good cut. The fried okra was good (ask for ranch sauce to dip) the one miss was the baked potato casserole, I feel like it was pre-made and they could have easily done a little better. For a full lunch at $10 I think that it satisfied the mid-week bbq itch.

Nothing bad to say about this place I ordered the 3 meat plate. It didn't look like a lot but I was not able to finish it and had to take the rest home. (i rarely can't finish my plate) it was delicious, i like how you can get your own bbq sauce (a lot of bbq joints don't give enough) and there's free ice cream which I didn't get to take advantage of because I was too full but I will be back for that soon. Has anyone mentioned that if you get a drink it comes in a cup that you can take home to wash and reuse? Profit!

This was my first time eating at Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and it was on the day after Thankgiving Day. The Beginning: I had a part of 9, so after ordering from an easy-to-read menu, i moved two tables together and took a chair off another group. Nobody seemed to mind, or perhaps they didn't notice. I ordered a 2-meal place that consisted of sliced beef brisket and polish sausage, with sides of potato salad and waffle iron fries. I also ordered a drink and i got to keep the extra large cup as a souvenir. This will be handy in college. After literally a minute waiting for my order, the server came out with my dishes along with my members dishes. i was surprised at the speed of delivery and started to wonder if the quality would undermine the timely service. The Meat: The sliced brisket was a bit dry, but after adding sauce it was okay. It fell apart quite nicely. The polish sausage was a bit greasy but Delicious! I couldn't help myself except take some from my family's plate too. I will definitely be ordering this meat again. The Sides: The fries were okay, nothing really special about them. Slightly salted, they filled me up quickly after eating my main dish. The potato salad was great. It had a flavor that convinced me that it was the restaurants little touch of creativity. After: They had free ice cream. Not much more needed to be said, and as a college student, I quickly understood my situation and had about 4 conefulls. The only downside was there was only one flavor, vanilla. My family and I stayed and chatted, having a good time, for more than 2 hours and the restaurant staff didn't complain or even ask us to leave. It wasn't packed, but it was definitely filling up. This was really nice of them considering that we were taking two tables. All in all i will be coming to a Dickey's Barbecue Pit again.

We have eaten here a few times and we have always enjoyed the food and the free ice cream. Recently placed a catering order for delivery. Free delivery up to 10 miles. Order online and when you receive your confirmation email you'll need to call their catering department with payment information. Overall, we were very pleased with the service, ease of ordering and efficiency. The Brisket and Pulled Pork was tender and not dry. Our guests enjoyed the food. We'll consider Dickey's again for future events!

Had my first meal at a Dickie's tonight. I moved here from North Carolina this week and needed a BBQ fix. NC is Q country. There is a joint on every corner it seems. Now this would not stand up to my favorite spot in NC, but it is pretty darn good. For a chain, it was very good. Had the three meat plate with two sides. Brisket, pulled pork, and a spicy cheddar sausage. Mac and cheese and Cole slaw for sides. Again pretty darn good. And fairly priced too. Service was friendly and prompt. Restaurant looked clean although I had my order to go. I am sure I will be back.

Stick-to-your-ribs food at an affordable price - that should be the tagline for Dickey's Barbeque Pit. Look, I'm from Southern California so I'm no BBQ connoisseur. I've never been to Texas, Memphis or St. Louis so I have no idea what "good" BBQ tastes like, so you can say my Southern BBQ standards are pretty damn low. Regardless, I still enjoy California's take on one of the South's greatest cuisines. Dickey's is a Texas-style BBQ fast food joint - you order at the counter, find a seat and wait for your number to be called. Nothing fancy which, in my opinion, BBQ should never be glamorous - that would take all the fun out of it. My perception of BBQ is messy, sauce on your fingers, sauce smothered on your face, bold, tangy and meaty - a good old fashion smack down on your colon and stomach. Dickey's does exactly that! I ordered a two meat plate which comes with two sides and a bun. After talking to the guy at the register... By the way, the service is awesome... I decided on the Texas Style Chopped Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork. Sides - Fried Okra and Baked Potato Casserole. While I was waiting for my order, I went to the sauce bar. They had two options - hot and mild BBQ sauce. I got two cups of each. They also have dill pickle spears. Of course, I loaded up on those. TIP: Make sure to get a ton of BBQ sauce. They serve their meats naked meaning without sauce. My food was ready pretty quickly. I got my order to go and when I picked up the bag I was like HOLY SHIT. It must have weighed at least five pounds. Not kidding, my first thought was "My toilet is in for a surprise tomorrow.". When I got home and checked out the offerings, I was impressed. Really big portions. The meat was tender and yeah, you got a little smokiness. I didn't care for the baked potato casserole that much but the fried okra was pretty bomb. But that's not surprising because I like anything fried. Overall I was pleased with Dickey's. The food was good and the value is even better. You get a ton of food for how little you pay. My total bill was $12.54 and I could have shared it with someone else - I'm still full the morning after. Don't mess with Texas.

I was actually getting an oil change for my car from Lexus and at that time, I was pretty hungry. So I went on my phone and just yelped, and I found this place. Right when I walked in, the place smelled pretty good. As I started to go towards the do my order, I see that the BBQ sauce was in a pan where customers just scoop (which I find pretty nasty and interesting) because I'm so use to using my sauce in a bottle instead. This place is nothing like a real authentic BBQ joint. The service was ok, the cashier who took my order was pretty rude to me, and I was being nice to her also. I tried the 2 Meat Plate, the whole meal was pretty disgusting. This is my last time coming here again, next time I get an oil change. I will probably eat somewhere else.

We've been here before an the experience was always great. What we noticed today, and for me is a no-return in terms oh hygiene, is that the guy that did set the ice creams cones in place did that right after he scratched his "lightly sweaty" head! And of course, he didn't wash his hands or use gloves. I hope my standards aren't too high, but for me is definitely not something I like.

If you want to eat a large quality of meat then this is the place. Quick service and good customer service. My only concern was the the place where we drop the used plates was all messy and piled up. If they could clean that at regular intervals . Then this would be perfect in every way possible!

I am raising a star for the chain... not this place. Went to the Dickey's on Mary in Cupertino... it was considerably tastier... still not fantastic, but I lived closer, I might go there again. Thought the min-hoagie was over-priced for what I got, but the meat was juicer than the excuse for BBQ I got at the Fremont store. ambiance was a little draby ,,, definitely not a date-place.

It is hard for me to rate BBQ places here in CA when I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO . . HOME of BBQ. The flavor of BBQ sauce out here is not anything like it is back in KC, however, we found that this place is the best we can find out here. They have great brisket. The kids eat the turkey but I am not a fan of it. I love Turkey but something about the turkey here just does not seem right in my mouth. It's a texture thing I guess. The BBQ Sauce is really good especially the spicy one. Endless Pickles and Ice Cream. The sides that we get are the Mac N Cheese which my kids order double on because they love it. I really love the Onion Strings and so does my husband. I tried the Baked Beans once, and I will never do that again. I am VERY picky about my Baked Beans and they require a mesquite flavor and the ones in CA just are not good. It is nothing against Dickey's . . . its just a personal preference. All in all we eat her about 1x per month and everyone in the family really enjoys it.

The food was actually very good for the price. I am kindof a BBQ snob but it was actually good for the price. The ribs fell right off the bones. The mac n cheese was so good! My favorite thing was their baked beans. Oh, man. They were so yummy!!!!!! The free soft serve ice cream is also a nice treat. We walked around a little after and it was a nice little treat to have. Yum!

3-24-15Very disappointed that the self serve pickles are not available. The ice cream was awful. It was like a yellow custard. One of the employees said they have nothing but trouble with the machine. Why not buy a new machine and serve the "free" ice cream the way it should be? Will not return to this location.

I'm REALLY surprised with the negative reviews this place has gotten. My family and I get the beans + beef/pork and regular + spicy sauce. I think this their food is delicious, especially since I can eat it even when I am not hungry. We have bought from them at least 5 times (no check-ins, oops) and every time it's delicious. Not sure why people complain about them. I was actually a bit annoyed at someones comment on "recycled washed silverware"... First of all "silverware" is metal, and most "silverware" is actually made out of recycled metals. So I guess you meant plastic? And you would rather throw more garbage into the Milpitas landfill than to re-wash utensils. OK 'MURICA! I guess if you hate recycling this isn't the place to go. Not sure what the difference is between washing a plastic fork versus a metal one, aside from both are clean afterwards. So yeah, I think they taste awesome! The meat is always tender, the sauce is great (especially if you have leftover sauce! you can eat it with anything!), beans are tasty, bread is good. I just ate some leftovers- tastes great even cold! I want to buy their sauce... very addicting.

Dickey's is consistent- AT OTHER LOCATIONS! This place is nasty! Little attitude tweens taking orders that makes you want to watch the how they are going to serve up the plate of food- good thing you can see them do it- don't trust them heffers! Hubby went to get the "Big Yellow Cup" and decided not to , because they recycle it! Gross!!! And! They serve recycled washed silverware- which is not like all the other rest of the Dickey's that we've been too- it's plastic for on the go and 1 time use. The little buttery bread that comes with the plate- over this location- hella dry and just nasty! DO NOT GO TO THIS DICKY'S- just go to another location -it'll be better- food and service wise. This location has whored the franchise name and all this recycling of silverware and cups (which you'd think I'd be free b/c of the cost). Dried out meat that's flavored smoked and fobby attitude squirreley talking tweens is not worth the time and money if you want a fast food like BBQ place. Promise. Since I go to Dickey's - ELSE WHERE , b/c the hubby wants a quick BBQ fix- I'd recommend the Dickey's in Livermore or Pleasanton- NOT , I REPEAT NOT THE ONE IN FREMONT- JUST NASTY....

I had went there to eat yesterday, and I must say that ts food is VERY VERY good, especially if you are a meat lover. Not many people in this area have heard of Dickey's but they are from Texas, Dallas. The rolls are really good. I had turkey and some fries and it was very good. The Barbecue sauce is very good, they also have hot and mild, you have to try those as well they are also very good. They also have free ice cream everyday and kids eat free on Sundays if you purchase something. But I have to say since you are paying for good food and not your regular McDonald's dollar menu stuff, the price point is higher then your average fast food place. But in terms of good Barbecue it is really good. It is definitely worth trying once.

Has some nice benefits like the ice-cream. The kids love it. But, after eating lunch today, didn't feel that great. Had the $1 pulled pork sandwich, but by the time you add a drink and 2 sides, not much of a deal.

We went to a Dickey's because we had Entertainment book coupons. We were very impressed with the food ( tender meats, very good links ). It's not like Flints or Dougs or Chef Edwards, but it's good stuff and reasonably priced. It's also filling. The pulled pork and brisket are quite good, the chicken was good, the mac and cheese pretty good, waffle fries very good, free " ice cream", a nice touch. Service was very good, and friendly. I never have liked Everette and Jones, and since they closed ours, I'll just go here and Chef Edwards for now. I can't wait to try everything on the menu!

My mom and I came here for lunch one day. The guy who served us(i think is name was Dan) was so nice. He had the best customer service attitude. Unlike the Livermore location. The food was good. My husband loves it.

Joy is having a Dickey's within an hour drive of my house (and next to a half price books, bestill my Texas heart!) . Its not the best BBQ in Texas but it is good , but I say its the best in California by far. I have not found anything else closer to the real thing out here. Sometimes you really need fried okra and sweet tea in a ridiculously large yellow cup and a free soft serve ice cream cone and this is where you can get all 3 along with a plate of deliciously real TX BBQ. Sausage, turkey and brisket are all good, and I'm a fan of the spicy sauce myself (there's a spicy and regular). Now I just need some onions, pickles and loaf of Mrs. Baird's bread to complete my once a month or so TX bbq run.

Free vanilla ice cream for as long as your stay and HUGE free pickles. I ordered the BBQ beef brisket with the potato casserole and bakes beans. Not bad for a fast food BBQ restaurant. I just wish it didn't cost $15 with a drink.

Same as any other franchise BBQ, don't expect great BBQ, just good enough for lunch

Fast service! Excellent Customer Service! Amazing fall off the bone ribs and pull pork! To top it off, free pickles and ice cream! Definitely going again.

:( This place sucks! I came here for lunch and I am very unsatisfied. Spent 15 bucks & portions were small & so so. Sides werent good either. I gave them a extra star because the cashier was very nice & they had free pickles & ice cream. But Uuhh im not pregnant anymore so I dont need the free pickles & ice cream

a lot of patrons say its better then Armadillo Willy, but to me it's vice versa. I ordered the two meat, the beef is dry, plain and tasteless. The chicken is not bad but still a little dry. to enjoy these two meat you need a lot of "their" BBQ sauce to me it's defeat the whole purpose about BBQ'ing. The side's dish is not bad, I like the waffle fried and the potatoe's casserole. They give you free ice cream and pickle to eat until your heart content. I am not sure if i come back, but who know.

  • Antoinette O.

I come here pretty often and always get their 2 meat platter with 2 sides. I have never been dissapointed in any of the meats i have gotten with them. But i would have to say their best side is their baked potato cassarole (loaded mashed potatoes) they are amazing! They are kind of pricey but its not too bad for how much food you do actually get. And everything tastes better with the BBQ sauce it has just the right amount of tang and kick in it. you can also get free ice cream and pickles if you are in the mood for it which is pretty great to be able to get ice cream right after a nice meal! :)

Came here on the recommendation of a friend. My opinion...? He smokes way too much pot to know what good food tastes like. I ordered the hot link and brisket. The brisket was a bit too tough, sauce was plain. I'm only giving it two stars because they have free ice cream.

Food was good. The combo specials was a reasonable price for what we ate. free ice cream...cant beat that!

This place is nothing but a poser ass BBQ restaurant. Their meat has none of that wood smoked flavor that you would expect from a REAL BBQ joint. The ribs and brisket are dry and have no flavor whatsoever. Side dishes look like something you would get from a Boston Market. I've had better tasting baked beans from a can. Dickey's should also learn how to make some decent criss cut fries from Carl's Jr or something, because theirs taste like it came out of a mircrowave. I will definitely not be coming back to this place anytime soon. If you like fake BBQ and paying too much for it, then you might like Dickey's.

  • Darryl G.

This is as close to BBQ as Tony Roma's is to cooking great ribs. What do they have in common you ask??? Boiled meat!!! Shame on you...yes you've got tasty sauces (like TR) and free ice cream and pickles BUT this is not the place to get authentic BBQ. WHY? You can't eat the meat without having to put sauce...because the meat has zero flavor. Aside from the liquid smoke they put in the water...yuck!

Frankly, I am unimpressed. Then again I've visited quite a few BBQ joints in the Central Valley and Central Coast, so my standards might be a tad higher. We ordered: - marinated chicken breast - polish sausage - fried okra - waffled fries The fried okra and waffled fries were good... but the chicken and the sausage left much to be desired. The chicken was dry, and my girlfriend had trouble sticking her fork through some of the edge pieces. I had to finish it for her, because well, I am a beast. The polish sausage was better than the chicken, but I feel like I could have gone to Safeway and got a good sausage too. The bottom line is, the meat doesn't smell or taste like it was BBQ'd. Perhaps we picked the wrong meats and should've gone with the ribs or the pork. I'd hate to give a restaurant a bad rating in this economy, but I've had much better chicken and sausages just by grilling with friends over charcoal.

i rate this a 3 1/2 stars; rounded up to 4. i only came here because there were coupons in the news paper. it was buy a large drink ($2.20) and get a free sandwich or a giant baker. i had two, so i got both. it was my first time there so i was surprised that they gave free soft serve and pickles. (i thought they were for decoration) anyways, the giant baker was for my friend and it looked hella good, and i got a brisket sandwich that was kind of really dry. it was so-so my friend said the baker was really good. came here again, got a link sandwich and it was delicious. i also got the baker and it was kind of overwhelming not enough of the toppings and too much of the potato. the service was super friendly, lisa marie helped me out both times.

Took out lunch today. Had the brisket, as I think this is the true test of a barbeque place. It was pretty bland on it's own. There is a _thin_ barbeque sauce they provided (I guess it was the mild) with the takeout plate and every drop was necessary. Portion was O.K., not great. Beans were what you'd expect from a Van De Kamp's can. For $10 for a single meat plate, couldn't they upgrade to Bush's? Being takeout, I was not able to take advantage of the free softserve or the (gigantic) free pickles. I think if I had eaten in, and had those things, I'd feel better about the meal. If you want better barbeque beef, go to Kinders in the same part of Pacific Commons. They make a barbeque beef sandwich which is awesome. (The "Ball Tip", not so much) Having said that, the only other barbeque places in Fremont have their own problems. Carmen's Family BBQ just isn't that good. Southern Heritage probably has better food, but the service is as slow as Southern molasses and not particularly friendly. The service seemed good. Both girls taking orders at the counter were very personable. I briefly spoke with the manager who seemed like a decent guy. Big cup for drinks, which you can bring back and refill for free (I think). Dickey's is a good choice, but not a great choice. I'll go back when I'm really hungry for barbeque, but it won't be a staple.

I'll go here again... The place reminded me of Armadillo Willy's. The price and what they had to offer were pretty much the same. I had the Dickey's Plate with 2 choices of meat. I chose the BBQ Brisket and Polish Sausage along with the the potato salad and mac and cheese as my sides. It was good... For some reason my brisket tasted bland and watered down as if it was boiled. My husband had the same plate with BBQ Brisket and Ribs along with waffle fries and potato salad. The rib meat just fell off the bone!!! He didn't have much to say about the brisket. I bet you are wondering why I gave this place four stars. You get free ice cream and big ol' pickles with your meal. They just leave it out there for you to enjoy! If you have kids, every Sunday kids eat FREE!The staff was also very friendly and helpful! There must have been 5 people who asked us if we were okay or came to take our plates. Our food came 3 minutes after we ordered. Now that deserves 4 stars!

Meat is juicy and yummy! Kids eat free on Sundays and right now thru mid February, kids eat free everyday.. Don't forget the free ice cream and pickles.

The food isn't very good at all. It's not terrible, but definitely not worth the calories. The ribs taste like they are seasoned with poultry seasoning and the green beens were oily but flavorless. Avoid, you're better off just going to Tony Roma's.

Decided to give this place another try. I knew the pulled pork was fairly good so I stuck with a simple sandwich. The meat was good. The darned white bread bun brought the taste down from what it could have been. I'd been really disappointed with the sides last time so I tried something I hadn't before - the waffle fries. Darned good! They were made from real potatoes and were a little thicker than I would have expected. Nice taste. The waffle fries earned them another star. Now if they could just figure out some sort of bun that wasn't so insubstantial and soft as to be mushy immediately...

I'll never eat here again. I was so excited to try this place. And was so disappointed at the taste of the food. The meat has no flavor. It needed a lot more seasoning. The BBQ sauce that came with my order didn't make up for the flavorless meat. And this place is soooooo over prices. I won't ever eat here again.

Came here for lunch with some of my coworkers who chose this place over the nextdoor Kinder's. For $14 I ordered the pulled pork entree plus two sides, in my case potato salad, coleslaw and a biscuit. They also provide free ice cream and whole pickles. They serve very large portions, however their pulled pork is very plain and tastes steamed rather than barbecued. I wasn't very satisfied with my meal considering the price. The food is clean and the service is friendly, although they accidentally gave my order to the wrong person and had to remake mine. Overall, this place is only okay but I don't think I'll be back.

I was really happy to see this had made it out to the west coast. I lived in Dallas, TX for the first 18 years of my life and Dickey's is part of life there, as is bbq in general. This is not gourmet, but it will hit the spot. Brisket was okay, not the best I've had, but pretty good. Sausage links were very tasty, and the sides were excellent (mac & cheese, beans, waffle fries, salad). We had plenty to eat and they even had sweet tea, a must for true barbecue joints. Maybe I'm voting on nostalgia, but it was pretty close to the Dickey's that I grew up with back in Texas.

First let me say if I was able to give this place ZERO stars I would. When you walk in you don't even get the smell of BBQ this should have been our first clue that this wasn't BBQ. We walked up to the counter and weren't even greeted with a smile, Alyssa was rude and didn't seem to care about what she was there to do. We tried it anyway and it was terrible, and when I say terrible I mean disgusting my boyfriend and I both felt like throwing up. I had the "BBQ" chicken sandwhich and the meat was dry and had no flavor. I read another review that said if you wanted to get BBQ go to Kinders, I agree with that.

  • Lovefood H.

The best of Fremont? Wow that sad. I order the BBQ rib combo and I can tell the meat was BOILED with BBQ sauce poured on top. The sauce was very watery and drip off the rib easily making it just plain nasty. I can finish a rack of rib with fries at Tony Romas, but I can't finish more than two ribs at this place. Even with free ice cream, I won't be back. Bottom Line: Want good rib? Go to Tony Romas and pay for it imo.

I'm not sure if this is a chain restuarant but if it is, they serve decent BBQ. The brisket was juicy and moist, the ribs were decent, pulled pork was good, we had the family pack and they gave use another order of criss-cross fries. They didn't overdue it on the salt and free icecream..can't complain, it's cheap soft serve icecream but it's free! The rolls are very moist and buttery....again for a chain very very decent.

  • J M.

I'm an avid BBQ lover, but this place just didn't quite cut it. It looked like a chain restaurant, and tasted like one...along with high prices. I just dropped in there to try it...and had the Rib Plate (6 ribs). Ribs were ok but the sauce was waaayy too sweet. The sides (cole slaw and potato salad) were terrible! They throw a roll on top...which tasted like unbaked dough... All this and a coke for $18!!! Too much to justfiy for a bbq lunch. They offer free soft serve ice cream....which i passed because I got it to go, but kids might enjoy that... Kinder's BBQ at the opposite end of the strip mall is a little better priced and the ribs are way better also. You can get almost the same deal for $12 or so.

Yes, I had better BBQ in the past, and most of them were in Texas. Being in Fremont, I would say Dickey's BBQ is an acceptable BBQ restaurants. The location is great. It is within a new shopping complex (Pacific Common/Automall) and it can be very busy. Just imagine the potential here, if the A's Ballpark really come to reality, then this BBQ restaurant is going to be packed. Then it becomes a downside for me, as I don't like overcrowded restaurants. At least I don't have to worry about that happening soon. Fast food style restaurant. All you can eat Pickles and Ice Cream. This is a good family restaurant (Kids eat free on Sundays). The meat rating: 1. RIBS..!! 2. Pulled Pork 3. Brisket (slightly dry) With a bit of extra sauce, I had myself a great BBQ. The side-dishes were great too. The portion is pretty good for 2-meat combo. Definitely the place to go in Fremont to satisfy my BBQ meat cravings.

  • Kelly M.

I can't believe they actually call this Barbecue...It is either frozen or boiled (we had the ribs) fatty with no flavor. We won't be heading back. Just awful. The corn was boiled or frozen with no flavor...awful food.

My wife and I ate here recently and have to say we were pleasantly surprised. We got our food in decent time and it really tasted good!! The waffle fries are a MUST!! Even the bread they include with the meal rocks! To top it all off you get free soft serve ice cream!! Definitely worth going and trying!!

I always pass this place when going to Prolific Oven so I decided to stop by tonight and tried it. I had their $4 spicy sausage that came with bread. Good portion for the price and it was perfectly cooked..I was surprised. I also tried their brisket and sausage sandwich..which was very tasty..and the meal came with a huge pickle and soft ice cream. Place was clean and I actually liked their food...I wouldn't mind going back.

Reading the previous reviewers there were a few things I didn't realize. This is truly BBQ fast food. It's set up more like a Carl's Junior than a regular restaurant. You walk to the counter, place your order take your number and wait for your food. The second is the fries. I expected a fancy edged fry, but they slice a whole potato across so they are very large, potato width. Not bad or good. They are like everything else here ok. Not a bad taste or texture, just different. Let's talk about the "BBQ". I got a rib plate. These ribs are not BBQ'd. They appear to be cooked just like I do them at home. They slow cook them until they are tender and juicy. There is no sign of smoke rings or anything to indicate they had been actually BBQ'd. They were juicy, tender and good flavor. Nothing special or great, but not bad. Their sauce is average, maybe a bit below average. I use Bulls-Eye at home and find it much more flavorful. I got 4 or 5 beef ribs (didn't see pork ribs on the menu) fries, corn, beans and a drink for $14. The beans were OK, unremarkable but edible. Of course all the ice cream and pickles you want. I thought someone would come to my table and offer the ice cream and pickles, but that is not the case for lunch at least. In the Fremont location the ice cream and the pickles are located near the service counter. I didn't see them when I went in because I was looking the menu and they are located behind you when your looking at the counter. The girls that brought out the food walk in slow motion, it's kinda funny to watch them slowly work their way to the tables. They don't talk, nobody told me about the ice cream or the pickles, if i hadn't read the Yelp reviews I would have had no idea. This should be more appropriatly named a Rib Joint, not a BBQ restaurant. Everything is OK, not great, not bad. It's not a bad meal, it saves me the many hours of cooking not to mention the prep time. There are better BBQ places in Fremont. But none are as fast nor offer the same value. If you go here expect value for your money and decent food.

Dickey's is what it is. It's a fast food style BBQ place. Is it super awesome BBQ? No. Is it damn good BBQ? Well not really. Is it acceptable BBQ? Yes. But is it affordable? YES. Do they give you free soft serve ice cream which is sooo good on warm days? YES. Is a BBQ Sandwich combo (with a drink, a side (fries), and Soft serve) so much better than a Burger drink and fries at a typical fast food chain for about the same price? YES So what the heck? Don't diss Dickey's enjoy it for what it is.

  • Raymond W.

It used to be better before they changed their menu. The quality of the food seems to have gone down as time has passed. The meat is not as flavorful as it used to be when they first opened. However, the dinner rolls are still good, the soda is still $1 if you bring the cup back to fill it up yourself, and the ice cream/pickles are still free.

Pretty good considering that there's not a place like this around town. Simple menu of what's expected: BBQ! I normally get their hoagies because it's served to accommodate my appetite which is pretty small. But don't let that turn you away, as their regular meals are of decent portions! Service is always served with a smile, and the food comes out pretty quick! The food doesn't WOW me, but considering that it's a GREAT alternative to fast food or other restaurant chains, I'll definitely keep on coming back!

3 meat combo: poultry-dry and not worth it. pulled pork-dry and looked like string cheese. pork ribs-best out of the three but not by a whole lot (rec'd two tiny pieces). 2 sides: waffle fries-awesome but wasn't as crispy as I wouldve liked them to be. mac and cheese-a little better than krafts but needs one more ingredient maybe asiago cheese. mac was pretty boring but edible. Total: 18.64 with a drink for two = not bad. Customer service: gooooooood, friendly and effecient. Yelping and eating waffle fries with BBQ sauce: never doing that again. Spilled some on my screen. The dinner roll was awesome. Soft and warm and a little doughy with a touch of sweetness. This roll and the spicy BBQ sauce were probably the best items here LOL. Also free soft serve=hooray. It saved me from writing an bad review. Oh wait is 2 stars bad????

Where was the smoker or the pit to cook? DIdn't see one tasted like it came from the oven. The ribs were plain and the brisket was chopped up the the hot sauce was watery but bread was good. Free ice cream can't beat that. Really didn't feel like a BBQ place or taste like one. Would I return? Not for the Que it was OK for what it was. I guess my taste buds aren't like everyone elses when it comes to good que.

I am from Texas, and so this was a VERY welcome surprise. I have ate at Dickey's in Dallas where they originate from, opened in 1941. It is not Sonny Bryants, or Pokey Joes, both from Texas, but mighty fine Texas BBQ. I have at one time or another ate everything on their menu, and it is all good. Today I had a sliced brisket sandwich with wedge cut fries, it was every bit as good as I remember. HIghly recommended.
