Yeah I know, sushi in Fairfield?! Even though I am a denizen of San Francisco where sushi is practically available on every street corner, this is one of my favorite places to go whenever I am in the Fairfield area. The place is small to be sure but the service is great and the sushi is delicious. The menu is amazing but this is not your typical SF, nose in the air over priced sushi joint where know it all sit at the sushi bar and try to impress each other with their knowledge of different sushi preparations while discussing the relative merits of different sushi chefs. This is a place to go and eat good food, well prepared and enjoy a good time at an inexpensive price. It is clean, the sushi is fresh, it is quick to place an order and get your food and it will not break the bank.

I've been to Yo in Fairfield a few times now and have liked the food I ordered every time. The Travis, Awesome, and Dragon rolls are my favorites. It does take a while for your food to come out after your order, but I'm okay waiting because then I know that it has been freshly rolled. I haven't tried anything other than their rolls here, but if the quality of the rolls translates into all of their food, I'm sure it's really good. The location has is very small and has limited seating, so I usually order and pick up. On yesterday's order, they forgot one of the dragon rolls that I had ordered, but the cashier asked for one to be made immediately for us when we came in to pay. I like that in their to-go boxes they give you soy sauce, wasabi, and ginger. I think they've implemented a new policy where you have to pay for extra sauce. At least, there's a sign above the cashier that says you do. My one problem with Yo is that they are a bit too expensive. Their prices are about $1 higher than the ones I found listed online. I think the taste and freshness of the sushi are of higher quality than many other sushi restaurants, but paying $10 for a roll (Awesome was $9.50 and Dragon was $9) is a bit much. When we were paying for our order, the total came out to $40 for 4 rolls, which was a little hard to digest considering that we normally go to a buffet for the same price. For the taste of the food, YO would have definitely gotten a 4.5, but the price is not equivalent to the value in my opinion. If you don't mind spending the money, you should definitely try this place.

Needed a quick bite to eat on our way back to SJ. This was the place I chose and I got the Teriyaki Bow and Sushi Deluxe. I thought from the reviews the sushi would be grade A, but was mediocore. I'm giving it 3.5 stars. When I came in, the place was packed and there was no where to sit if you were to dine in. I think they need to fix the line in which people order at so it isn't as congested. Overall, you get what you pay for and this place is a cheap way to get your sushi fix. Not the best sushi, but still okay if you're hungry and have a big appetite.

I like big bento boxes and I cannot lie. So I was a bit displeased when I ordered my bento and realized how tiny it was. Food: As I mentioned above, I ordered a bento box during dinner time. I cannot recall the price, but I want to say it was under 10 dollars... don't quote me though. I ordered a two piece bento that came with salmon teriyaki, tempura, white rice and guess what? No miso or salad, big bummer! The salmon was cooked well and flaky, however the teriyaki sauce was rather bland for my palate. The tempura was very crispy, but way too oily. I also ordered a lion king roll on the side, because I wasn't too happy with my bento as you can tell. The roll was exceptional, warm and a good balance of sweet and savory. Service: You order at the counter and you get up and grab your own food and wait your own table, this was all new to me, since most Japanese restaurants wait your table, etc. However, just by looking at the storefront you get more of a fast-food japanese restaurant feel. Ambiance: Tiny restaurant, busy and a bit cramped. However, they do offer outside seating, but during this time of the year you don't want to be dining outside unless you're ready to fry. Overall: I'll come back for the rolls, but not the bento.

Not from around here looking for a good place for sushi and I came across this place. I went off of the reviews on yelp. Small sushi place . I saw they opened at 11 so I got there as soon as they opened, once in the door their were employees going past me not greeting me, and just cleaning and doing other things. Nobody at the register. After a few minutes a lady just looked at me and I said "can I order ???" And then took my order (which btw I ordered lion king & crunch roll) few more customers got there so I waited for my order....took them 20 minutes. What bothered me was that they fulfilled the orders after me before me. The sushi, well it was pretty decent not that great. Didn't really feel welcomed. I personally felt discriminated because all customers that came after me where all Caucasian and they all got there orders before me. Not cool at all .

Was my go to spot for sushi, not no more. There rolls taste different every time I go sometimes ok and sometimes way off. My favorite was the Kelly roll but now they refuse to make it. If you want to spend your money on a good dinner go somewhere else.

This is my favorite sushi place! Always fresh, good portions & friendly staff. Another bonus is it's not as expensive as other places in the area.

Huuuuge selection in their menu which makes it hard to focus on one thing! I'm not much of a sushi person so I had the deep fried California roll, and dang it was taaasty that I'm craving it again a day later. Prices are good and it seemed to be pretty busy, but then I am told it is always like that. Still good and will come back some time!

Simply great, fresh food. Always made with great quality. I'm glad your only one block away from me.

As good as it gets. For the fastfood sushi type. I understood they are chain-restaurant. I ate once at concord and it wasn't all that. Fairfield Location surprisingly good. There are couple sushi place around here and i even wonder how they survive. I only order for pick up. I never dine in at the spot. The place look like only have 3-4 table. I normally order same things every time. Yo Nacho Salmon sashimi Spider Roll Japanese lasagna Fantasy Roll Sometime they really rush on the phone for taking order and made mistakes but never charged for what they missed. Recommend if u are in this area and craving for sushi.

From the reviews, this seemed like a love it or hate it kind of place. But we decided to try it since we're new to the area. I had the last two rolls and my husband had the top two. We were shocked at the size of his rolls. They were enormous. I thought the presentation was nice, the rolls tasted good, not great, but the rice could be softer. (Which I'd read in other reviews). Overall a good experience and I will definitely come back or order take-out.

Yo! I'm hooked! Ever since one of my other favorite sushi places in Fairfield has been taken over by new management, I thought it would be time to check out a new sushi place. I came across Yo Sushi via Yelp and saw the positive feedback from my fellow Yelpers. I decided to give Yo Sushi a try. Upon entering the cute little Yo Sushi shop, I was greeted with a smile by the most charming sweetest cashier on the planet. I ordered the Angry Lion King roll and once the ordering was done for take-out, I gave the cashier a good tip for her friendly service. Usually it takes the staff about a good 8-10 minutes to make the sushi, but if you're ordering a complex warm roll like the Angry Lion King expect to wait a good 15-20 minutes for it to be done. Once my order was done, I took a bite into my Angry Lion King and was mesmerized by the special sauce they used for this warm roll. Just be aware the Angry Lion King can be a messy roll with the crab and special sauce on top, but I promise it's worth the investment. :) Overall, the food delivered as well as the friendly service. This will probably be my to-go sushi joint from now on because of how well everything was delivered. Be aware that this place is tiny, so I would recommend ordering take-out instead of eating in. I will be back Yo Sushi to try some more rolls and maybe some of your Hawaiian Poki. :D

Very good sushi and food, there is better out there but nowhere near this price range! A five star rating is the only right thing

I finally got around to trying this place out one day for lunch. I was told by a friend to call my order in to go and not even try to eat in as it is too small. I called in a Volcano Roll & Dragon Roll. I headed over and found the place right away. I walked in and it was teeny! Hardly any seating (but it was full of people) and there was a line for people waiting to pay. I finally made it to the front of the line and paid.. in and out in under 10 minutes. The sushi was pretty comparable to their newer Vallejo location. The only thing I noticed was that the Volcano Roll was a little lopsided with rice (hardly any on one side of the roll and my roll fell apart). I will definitley be back to try my other Yo Sushi (Vallejo) favorites!

I love this place. It's easy to order, quick to pick up/served and the crew is really nice. Best part about this place is it is delicious!

Shout out to Eduardo at YO Sushi for letting me know they had Uni today, when I called to place an order. UNI is my favorite of all sushi. I also like the Crazy Monkey because of the three types of fish, the Sake Kama because I love salmon and of course the party platters. Best prices, best sushi and great staff. YO!!!

With all of these stellar reviews I thought I was in for a treat. I was really excited to try this place since everyone on yelp seems to think this is "THE spot" for sushi in Fairfield. The service was fine. The girl at the cash register was very nice. I was really wanting to try one of the rolls that everyone talks so highly of. First I ordered the "Awesome" roll. It was very underwhelming. None of the awesome standout flavors. Rice was too dry. Just pretty meh. I ate every bite and I was not satisfied. I felt like I needed to order something else. I asked the nice girl working the cash register for help deciding what to get next. She told me her favorite was the "Godzilla" roll....I took her word for it. As soon as she brought it to my table I knew I had made the wrong choice. And it tasted just as boring as it looked. I really tried to emphasize that I wanted everything extra spicy but it just wasn't happening here. Very bland sushi. Might as well go pick up some premade sushi from the grocery store. I will stick to Mikos in downtown Fairfield where the rolls are huge and the flavors are mind blowing every time.

Pleasantly surprised, we've been in twice and both times the food was good and service better. I adore sushi and am happy to find this place! It's good, normal, sushi. After years in TX it's nice to not have jalapeños in or on my sushi!

  • ken s.

So good, my family submitted 3 additional orders after finishing our first serving. We thought we were done after finishing the 2nd and 3rd orders but we finally called it quits after the 4th :). Place is small though, 4 tables (seats 4) inside and counter seats for 5.

This is my favorite sushi spot here in Solano County. Really good sushi at a reasonable price. I recommend the Dynamite Roll and the Awesome Roll and the Lion King Roll.

  • Josh B.

Second time here and it was ok. The chirashi bowl was ok but the unagi was good as well as the teriyaki bowl. I'll come back since it's close to home and a hole in the wall place. The service was fast and the staff was nice overall I gave it a 3 but I'm sure I'll rate higher next time

Always come here to eat when I'm feenin for some sashimi. Always taste fresh and never frozen. Had the sushi and sashimi combo. All the sashimi was good and the portions were good size. The California rolls were good too and nice size. There lunch special is always good too, my girlfriend always gets that. The customer service is always good. Employees are nice and welcoming. The food came fast like they always do. Overall experience is good, always coming back here for good sushi.

We wanted to try this place out to see what everyone was raving about. Let me get to the point: if you love sushi or sashimi, or had the real deal in Japan, you won't be very impressed. On the sashimi: freshness and taste of the fish is of utmost importance. The sashimi we ordered was bland and the toppings they put on it cannot hide this fact. On the angry lion king: unless you're an adventurous food lover (Jiro should not even see this creation), you may want to stay clear from this one. Too mushy and I couldn't even tell what I was eating, it was all one big blob of some indistinguishable ingredients. Okay, it's California roll on steroids. If you love this creation (it's pretty darn creative BTW), go for it. I'm willing to give this place another shot in hopes to find something I would like.

For the price it's d best in town, but I don't know why this was my only 2nd time in more than 14yrs. & my first check-in.....my hubby been to Japan for Military assign. & he said that d place looks exactly like in Japan & very authentic so I'll guess, I visit this place more often. Keep up the great work

Great place in Fairfield to get some good takeout sushi. They almost always get my order right. The prices are decent. The portions, while some have seemed to shrink (sashimi) are decent. Try the Travis roll, O Happy Day, Monkey Balls, Sushi and Sashimi. Be forewarned, it's a small place with limited seating. There's usually a line, but you can get your food in under 20 minutes. They're always looking for a cashier. What's up with that?

    (4)
  • Erica S.

Have eaten here 4 times and each time I am not disappointed. We are not afraid to try something new. No matter what we get it is always amazing. I live in Dixon and would have never thought Fairfield would have some of the best sushi I have ever had. The food is so flavorful without all of the sauces other sushi restaurants use. If you are looking for fabulous sushi definitely try Yo!

The best place in town to get your Japanese food fix. Yo's rocks! I haven't found anything I didn't like on their menu. Their food preparation, cleanliness, and customer service are perfect 10's. My go to here are the Lion King and Dragon Rolls. They're addicting! I often order their tempura and unagi donburi as well. BOMB! I've tried other donburis elsewhere and they're often too salty for my taste. Not Yo's tho! As for desserts, they serve green tea and mochi ice creams. What more could you ask for? The downside? The place is too small and it easily gets crowded. Who cares though if the food's this good? Very affordable too!

  • Mr Bolo B.

I found this place by accident when I was driving by and needed a break and decided to try some sushi and combo meal the quality was excellent and well prepared, everything tasted fresh , the Tempura was perfect! I especially enjoyed the combo Bento box style meals, my favorite. I would say this is one of the best sushi restaurants in the area the place looked very clean and well taken care of and the service was pretty quick the prices were also very reasonable and not too expensive

  • Victor W.

Some of the best Sushi in town. I love the fact that I can call in same day and get a sushi platter in 20 minutes. The wall of sushi (pics of all their rolls) makes it easy to try new rolls. The Lion King roll is so sweet it's sushi for dessert. The seating is limited, so be prepared to wait for a seat or get it to go.

    (5)
  • Alexander S.

Great sushi, work something for most everyone! My fiancé and I eat here often because of its location and huge variety of rolls and bento boxes. I've never tried anything I didn't love! Only reason it's not a 5 star is the interior needs more room, it's VERY small.

    (4)
  • Kati B.

Love this place! I am a bit of a sushi snob and this place hits the nail right on the head! It's a small quaint place so ordering to go is perfect for this stay at home mom with sushi cravings. They are fast and efficient. The menu is vast and everything i have tried has been amazing. I can't forget to add that their prices are unbeatable!

    (5)
  • Lala K.

This place is so small that you could literally drive by this place not knowing this place existed. I have been coming here since I've moved to Fairfield and they are by far the best sushi place in the area. Coming from Hawaii, for me to say this place is good means a lot. They have a set menu along with a few specials. I suggest trying as many items as you can because they're all different and worth trying. The fish is fresh and everything is made to order. I suggest bringing a menu with you and ordering ahead of time for pick up because there is very limited seating.

    (5)
  • Chelsey A.

My first time trying sushi was at Yo Sushi about a year or two ago. It was a good first time experience. It is a tiny restaurant but the food is great! I suggest if you are in a rush or you don't want to wait standing around for your food, you order it over the phone and pick it up To Go. My recommendation to pick from the menu is thee Super California, Black hole, Lion King with Unogi sauce on the side or the Fantasy.

  • Jim S.

Outstanding!!! Everything was great, high quality ingredients and outstanding presentation...two thumbs WAY up!!!

    (5)
  • Cynthia Z.

The cherry blossom roll and three times lady roll is amazing I love how you can phone in a order. Definatly will be returning here and if you want to dine in be prepared it is small and sometimes long lines. So if you happened to get a seat be ready for people's butts to be in you face lol but awesome sushi and friendly employees and they have RAMUNE!!!!! And japanese beers if your looking for that

    (5)
  • Kenny W.

I love Yo Sushi!! Great food and J & K pop culture. My cousin Ray and I went here weekly when they first opened, now we go quarterly just because we go hard in ordering sushi! It gets pricey however the price isn't bad

  • Kayta N.

As many others have surely stated, the inside of this place is cramped. But despite it's size this place puts out some awesome flavors and everything tastes fresh as can be. I've been here many times and the rice on the rolls is never gummy or chewy; instead it's cooked to perfection and not used as the primary roll ingredient. Too often I'll get rolls elsewhere that are 70% rice and it's a major disappointment when they are. Today I shared orders of Spicy Tuna and Philly rolls with a friend and both were just what we expected. The Spicy Tuna roll didn't have anything but tuna and spices or sauce mixed into the filling, just as it should be. The tuna was also still cold by the time we got it home, a good sign that it's stored as it should be. The Philly roll was great too, not overloaded with cream cheese or rice. Just right. Overall, a great sushi meal for both of us! My only complaint is how small the inside is. It's just difficult and/or not appealing to stay and eat my meal here. It's either packed, too loud or both. I've stayed and eaten here once and made the mistake of sitting by the door where everyone is lining up by your seat. Blah, we just get our sushi to go now and it's just as yummy there. We love Yo Sushi in my family and with good reason! Great rolls, good selection of fresh food and the staff is friendly. We called in our order and were quoted 15 minutes, we got there in 10 and it was already ready to go. Worth a visit!

  • Rochelle B.

This is one of the best places for your sushi fix. Food is always the right temperature, fresh and tasty. Anytime I have ordered, my food was ready when it should have been and it was delicious. As a reviewer I'm super hard on businesses (see for yourself) so when I give 5 stars it really means something. My favorite roll is :angry lion king no tobiko

    (5)
  • Jason B.

Great sushi spot have been coming here for years but finally decided to do a review now. The food is always good. The fish for me has always been very fresh. Why 4 stars? The location isn't bad, but the building is. The ground inside is almost completely slanted and it's tiny and packed. Invest in a new larger location please Yo Sushi! You guys are always packed as well. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this.

    (4)
  • Kiki H.

It's all about the dynamite roll and lobster rolls!! The lemon salmon roll is also one of my favorites!

    (4)
  • Lindsey G.

Yo Sushi is probably the best sushi restaurant I've found in Travis AFB area. The rolls are unique and made with fresh fish, the wasabi is made fresh daily, and the service is always friendly. They are also fast for the massive lunch crowd and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The only downside is the limited seating, which makes it hard to eat in during the busy hours.

    (4)
  • Brian M.

Best sushi in town. Reminds me of a sushi bar you'd see in the city. Small, awkward seating, fresh sushi, lots of variety. Nice location and they get the orders out fast. Never had a problem here..

    (5)
  • Nelson Q.

Not many sushi options in this part of town, and it was pretty late, so we checked this place out. Its a former burger joint-turned Korean run Sushi Joint complete with fancy western style sushi rolls and creations with K-Pop playing on the TV screen. Watch your step because this cramped little spot has a little "ramp" when you go up to check out their menu selections. their "sushi bar" area (if you wanna call it that) is kinda awkward because the people eating in that area stare inches away from their menu/wall and there is no interaction with the sushi chefs The only thing I remembered was the Uni and Saba nigiri. They were okay. The Rolls we ordered had fancy names and they were okay as well. We are SO SPOILED with sushi options in Vegas, and we're IN THE DESERT!?!? Go figure.....ALOHA!!!

  • Nato A.

It's a really small place the floor is slanted and so are the tables. I love there are pictures of each roll on the menu. The sushi is tastes good and looks good. I'm giving them 3 stars because there space is real small. Floor is real slanted. Sushi is good. But today I came in had the Hawaiian poki and was really upset. I don't know if it was just this time but I'm never getting it again. There was barely any poki in it. Surrounded by lots and lots of vegies. Poki was cut super small like m&m size. I was just pissed. I don't like to complain cause I'm paranoid of retaliation (spit etc.) But I was able to finish all the poki on that platter in less than 20 secs. Sushi other wise is great. Just real upset over poki.

My cousins live in Fairfield and I never knew about any sushi place until I yelled around and found this spot. Yaay for sushi. This place, although it's small the food makes up for it. Yummy. The workers are cool and they know how to hook up up. Although I've only been here twice and I don't know if there are other good sushi places this spot is a must.

    (5)
  • Mitch K.

My favorite place for sushi in Fairfield. The rolls have a great flavor, and prices aren't too bad, averaging about $9 per roll. A very wide selection of rolls to chose from as well, so I'll definitely be back to try them. Service is good; I've never had to wait too long for my food, and the people working the registers have been friendly every time I've come in. They also play K-pop music videos on their TV, if you're in to that kinda stuff. The only downside is the limited seating. The place can only seat about 15 people, so don't be disappointed if you have to order to go.

  • Adrianna L.

First time coming but it's not the last. Fantastic service and delicious sushi. I had the lunch special which was California Rolls and Chicken Teriyaki. Super delicious and with a side of Shrimp Tempura? Yum! I definitely plan on coming back. They apparently do take out orders so if it's too packed in the small building, you can enjoy your food at home. Can't wait to go back, yum!

After reading the yelp reviews, we decided to try this place while visiting the area. I love sushi so i wanted to try some new places and varities. We ordered our food to go but while we were waiting we sat at the counter. It was so dirty, it looked like it hadn't been wiped down in days. There was dried food and sauces stuck to the counters. We moved outside while we were waiting but the tables were dirty outside too. The entire restaurant looked like it could use a deep cleaning and santitizing. We ordered the Angry Lion King, the Deluxe sushi special, and I can't remember the name of the other roll, but the entire order was awful. The Angry Lion King wasn't a roll at all but rather, a messy pile of rice mush. I couldn't eat any of it, the tastes were way off and after being in that dirty restaurant, I was worried about getting sick from the food. If the front of the house was this bad, what must the condition of the kitchen be? I don't recommend this place, especially if cleanliness is a factor. I didn't take a photo because my phone was dead. Such a bad experience though, that I won't be having sushi at all for awhile. Even thinking about it makes my stomach turn.

I have been coming here for over a decade! Great customer service, awesome sushi, and jpop and kpop always on tv. Plus they have beer and ramune, so suck it!

mmMMm who doesn't love some sushi? Yo Sushi has been voted #1 sushi place in the fairfield/suisun area by readers of the Daily Republic since 2008. Their sushi roll prices are pretty typical and range from $6-9 each and up to 4-8 pieces. For a party of 3, you can expect to pay around $35 for 3-4 rolls, which is a pretty good deal for sushi. They have the common sushi rolls like california, dragon, crispy... and also really great ones like crazy monkey, bonito dragon and deluxe crispy. That's probably as good as you're going to get for these prices, so I would def. recommend stopping by here if you're craving sushi! You can also order to-go and there's parking behind the restaurant if you just want to stop by and pick up some lunch or dinner.

  • Patty S.

Ok, I hardly ever stop in Fairfield since it's a city I just don't think of great food. Anyway this time was different, I was super hungry for something and looked at my Yelp app and found Yo Sushi. Yelp really came through for me as this was the best sushi I've had in many years at prices you cant beat. It's a strange looking place, maybe an old gas station and the floors are uneven, but the serce and food is made to order and prompt.

  • Jyb J.

I order to go. I usually get the sashimi with the California roll for lunch.

OMG this is the best take out sushi place in the area! We are working our way down the menu, trying every sushi roll and havent had a bad one yet. But if its your first time you MUST try the Yo Nacho appetizer!

  • Robert R.

The sushi was good and they have a good selection. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The employees are cheerful and helpful. I will be back

  • Charmaine L.

while in the area, yelp directed us to this little sushi house. upon arrival, i was a bit skeptical as the place is extremely compact. order at the counter and you pick up the food when your buzzer lights up. i went with the yo nacho roll and the monkey brains. creative? yes. japanese? not so much. tasty? just decent. service was great considering you are pretty much serving yourself. but as far as sushi goes, they may have crossed the line into over doing it.

  • Rick R.

Great food to take out. Don't bother staying it gets too crowded with 4 tables and 6 seats at the bar.

    (5)
  • Alecia R.

The Fantasy Roll is delicious and the lunch special is a steal! Have plans to make my way through their entire menu to find more favorites. Just wish it were a little bigger, the place fills up quickly and as soon as it's cleared out another stream of people fill the place up--not a bad thing, just a little claustrophobic. Their Vallejo location is much more spacious and inviting for a sit down meal, but I think this location has the slightly better chef--so I'll stick to taking a trip to Fairfield and ordering takeout.

    (4)
  • Chris G.

We've been coming here for almost 9 years- NEVER had a problem! Always GREAT service and food. The place is tiny- how could they store old food? You can see nearly everything they make from the entrance door. Pricing is good, especially for the quality of rolls. And they've come up with som fabulous new items- YO NACHO, new fave!! We love YO SUSHI!!

    (5)
  • Barbara S.

I love this restaurant!! This is my favorite sushi by far and is what I compare all other sushi restaurants (when I am not in the area, I don't cheat on my Yo!) to. They are fast, friendly, and generous. The fish is always fresh, it never smells fishy, and the prices are lower than anywhere else I've been. Best of all (and they no longer advertise it so ask) if you buy a T-shirt then you get a free drink every time you wear it in! Totally worth it! I do suggest that you request the rolls to be cut into 8 pieces, especially if you have a smaller mouth.

The sushi here is really good. My favorite so far is the Dragon. I love it..I also like that they have pictures of all of their sushi rolls on the wall for you to see so that you know what your roll looks like before ordering it. It encourages to try new items because you can see it and know what's in it before ordering. The place is small so it's not always a guarantee that you will get a seat. I always get my food to go. Its also a good idea to order over the phone and then pick up. Its much quicker and easier. But overall good sushi! Thanks Yo Sushi!! :)

Been coming here for years now and really still enjoy the food they have. I'm hooked on the Monkey Brain. They are not high end, but the price/quality in spot on. Makes me happy.

Good food, but dam cheap bastards just spent $40 and they want to charge $.25 for hot sauce... Bs and greedy

  • Stephanie M.

By far the best sushi in town. Even though the location is small we always find somewhere to sit between the counter or table. I love their lunch special.. Chicken Teriyaki and California Roll. The pictures of each sushi roll is and added plus. I like to see how it looks if I am trying something new. We go at least once a week

One of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. The prices are great and they have a wide variety of different types of sushi. The place is quiet small but worth the wait when seating is full. They hand out pagers for when your food has been ordered and will page you when food is ready to pick up. Their green tea latte is amazingly good, I have yet to try the green tea ice cream that everyone is talking about. My mom really enjoyed their authentic hot tea with brown rice. The staff is very friendly and efficient. They always do an awesome job when I eat there. It is very easy to find parking outside so don't worry about that. Overall I would totally come back here for some bento box/sushi!

It's my favorite sushi in Fairfield! I always come here they have the best rolls are the north Texas and Travis roll. Some miso soup and mochi to finish it with is delicious. Best in the Vacaville-Fairfield area

Very good sushi here. Great prices for the kind of rolls you can buy. Usually really busy but still get your orders in a timely matter.

Good spot for ok sushi. Prices are good especially since they have the lunch special. Quality has gone down (sashimi) since I've been going here since 2004. If you want a quick sushi fix and no other Japanese restaurant is open, then come by.

    (3)
  • Mike N.

Good quality sushi for affordable price. Chicken teriyaki was pretty good too. If ordering for pick up I suggest to call in the order. Otherwise wait could be pretty long

This place is one of my favorite sushi spots. I don't get here as much as I used to cause i'm not around this area much. But when I'm in the neighborhood i always stop by. My order is always the Deluxe Sushi Special. It comes with a spicy tuna roll and an assortment of nigiri fish. The fish always taste fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant and their other location in the Glen Cove area in Vallejo also called Yo Sushi.

  • Da F.

Best tasting sushi in the area!!! I've been going here since it opened. Not only is the sushi good, but so is their Udon. Love this place!

  • Stefany H.

It's a good place for sushi as far as Fairfield locations go. It does get pretty crowded during lunch time so it's best to order ahead. Staff is friendly and fast. I normally order my food to go and it's always prepared perfectly. They never mess up or miss anything. My usual are Mexican rolls (which is a California roll topped with shrimp) with Sriracha and Teriyaki chicken bowls which are the bomb :)

  • Coco R.

This place is awesome as far as the quality of the sushi. It is great for take out considering that there is limited seating inside but you cannot beat the quality of the fish. I love the classics here as they are relatively cheap and they are always prepared quickly. Easily the best Sushi in Fairfield.

    (5)
  • Jenelle B.

The original yo sushi Very cute little restaurant but take note, I said little. There is barely any seating inside. They have a few benches and tables outside but it's incomparable to the Vallejo location. They still offer a lot of the usual things and now serves brown rice with the rolls for an additional price. I still enjoy coming here and their service by far had been great. Only negative is the minimum seating. Favorites Volcano Roll Titanic Roll Unagi Donburi Fantasy Roll Enjoy!

  • Kristian F.

Yum!!! Best sushi in town!!! Have been coming here for years and havent been disappointed!! I love the Dragon roll, Angry Lion King and quite a few others! My favorite time I had was asking the lady ordering my food to order her favorite roll for me to try, it was aaaaamazing! I figure hey, if they work there they probably know what's good ;-)

Not really big on sushi but this place is great. Everything always taste fresh and people are always friendly. Love their 3 way combo and Lunch special. Definitely recommend! Gets pretty packed for lunch.

For what it is, I give it four stars. If you want pretty good sushi on a budget, then this is the place to go. I think what the place lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in it's food and prices. The large party platter is a go to when me and my fiancé are having a get together or need to bring something to a potluck. They literally have it ready in like 20 minutes. I'd describe it as a place you go when you want sushi and don't want to change out of sweat pants. LOL. The rolls are standard. I wouldn't describe them as spectacular but for what you're paying, it's tasty. Not my favorite sushi spot in the area but the place I'll go to if I'm too lazy to drive to Vacaville.

  • Rich H.

This is my favorite sushi place in Fairfield. Sometimes I will drive 30 to 40 minutes out of my way to get sushi here. My favorite is there lemon salmon, today I went there and all I got was three of the lemon salmon and a Philly roll... Totally pigged out and wanted more... Mmmmm, delicious!!!!

    (5)
  • Nelly B.

I absolutely loved it. Food is good+price is awesome My favorite roll was Dragon, but Philadelphia was pretty good too. The place is pretty small, but clean and friendly.

  • Lois M.

I went to Yo Sushi because of the reviews on Yelp, but was not at all pleased with the food. I ordered the Lion King roll and California roll. The Lion King was not appealing or tasty. It was burnt, in one huge clump, greasy, and falling apart. The California rolls were very loosely rolled and also very greasy. Maybe the other rolls are different but the ones I received were below standard. I will not be ordering from Yo Sushi in the future.

  • Stuart S.

This place is awesome!!! Good sushi served quickly! It's a very small place with 5 bar seats four 5-person tables inside and several outside tables. The lunch line can get pretty long so call ahead if you're in a hurry. Just ate here again and service is still amazing! And the sushi is still outstanding!

  • Brandon S.

Delicious food that comes with excellent pricing. Customer service is great. Small building to accommodate the busy hours. Trust me this place get busy and the food are worth the wait.

  • Pachuco C.

I take the family to this place a couple of times a month. We all love the food at this place. We live in another town and the Vallejo location is closer to us, but we find the quality of the food to be more consistent at this location. They have great combos and the more relaxed atmosphere of the place is more kid friendly than other sushi restaurants. My two year old will ask to go to his place out of the blue sometimes, and I am only too happy to accomodate : )

  • Lolailo Y.

Two different people recommended this place, so we had to try it. I have uploaded the photos of the two appetizers we ordered: the Hawaiian Poki and the Tako (octopus) Sunomono. Both portions were incredibly small. I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Where were these chefs trained, at the French Laundry? There was a dozen tiny pieces of octopus on a disproportionately large amount of pickled cucumber. The dish is called Tako for a reason! The octopus should be the star of the dish! Same thing with the Poki: there were just a few pieces of fish among the vast amount of onion. The sashimi we had was tasty, quite fresh, but pretty bland. The lemon slices that accompany the dishes still had the produce labels affixed to the rind. I have also posted a photo of that (which Yelp removed, not sure about the reason) Quality is certainly the most important consideration, but quantity has to count, especially when you're given a miserly amount of fish at a premium. It is very doubtful we'll be coming back again.

  • Ken P.

i've been trying to find another sushi joint since the owner of ichi maki sold and the new owner turned it into a korean joint nobody goes to. yo is a decent spot to get sushi, the sashimi is just right, but some of the rolls seem over done and often over cooked. simplicity and good quality ingredients beat hype any day, it's all about the notes you don't play. this place is more show than go, it gives you a feel of what a sushi joint in japan is like when you step inside, the staff is friendly and the place is clean. the sushi is decent, but doesn't hold a candle to ichi maki!

    (3)
  • Jo C.

Cool place to eat. Affordable. I love their rice bowls and rolls. I can't wait to come back. They're always busy so prepare to wait longer than expected.

    (4)
  • Amery S.

Amazing! We came right before closing (10 min) and they were still super friendly and our food was done quickly and they gave us free miso soup! The Godzilla roll is amazing and so was the dragon roll(?) we go there frequently and it's always clean with prompt and friendly service even though it gets pretty busy.

I was never a fan of sushi until I went here! I love this place. I love their menu and the accompanying pictures. It makes it so easy to order. Every time I have eaten here I have gotten great service and great food. Love this place!

  • Julie T.

I've been coming to this spot for years now, hardly ever disappoints. My favorite roll is the Angry Lion King! Since it's one of the better sushi spots in town, it can get super busy around lunch time. I wish they had a bigger location for a bigger seating area. One week, I literally came in at least 3 times.. A bit embarrassing but it's good, cheap and a nice little place to grab a quick lunch.

    (4)
  • Cynthia G.

This place is really good! Found it on yelp on a little road trip and I'm glad I did. . 2 adults and a child ate for $24 dollars and we all left full and happy. Small indoor eating area and a few tables outside. I highly recommend this place for good priced and yummy sushi

    (5)
  • Rose A.

Their sushi is decent considering it's "fast food" sushi. Usually have good service from this place especially because my family has "special requests" due to a fish allergy. But beware of the young male cashier tonight. He was very rude because I called in my order ahead of time and got there soon after I called it in??? Then he didn't give me a pager to let me know my order was ready! So I had to go up and ask if my order was done and of course it was! The guy who handed my order was apologetic and said he was sorry to keep me waiting. To Yo Sushi, this cashier needs more training in customer service!

    (4)
  • Alison E.

Best fast food sushi ever, fresh fish, huge selection, great prices and never disappointed. Yo is comparable in quality to bigger sushi restaurants, and while i can't honestly say best sushi overall, i can say that I've been coming here for three years and I've never been let down.

    (5)
  • Briana B.

Best sushi spot in Fairfield, hands down! Prices are reasonable, food is great, staff is very friendly. And who doesn't like watching a little bit of K-Pop on TV while they're eating? Love this place!

    (5)
  • Marrvelous M.

Yo Sushi NEVER disappoints! They have a great wall visual that tells you what type of sushi, also a wide variety. Though it can be busy at times, the food quality and price remain consistent and decent. The staff though busy, always find a way to greet you and answer any questions about the food. If I had a suggestion for Yo Sushi, it would be to expand the seating area because it can get crowded. Today was a great day to eat here. Thank you. Will come back soon!

Once my former high school after school spot---across from Armijo. Now my go-to for insta-sushi, I love their sushi for the convenience plus great taste. Usually I order to-go by calling in and just taking it home. My family staples are the Gourmet Sashimi Combo- comes with rice, soup and a salad with Tuna, Salmon, Two types of white fish and Squid. Of course, I have to have the Cherry Blossom: Tuna on top of a Salmon and cucumber filled roll. I also like the Crispy: a fried Salmon filled roll. And a spicy rainbow: spicy tuna roll topped with a variety of fish...like a rainbow. Also the "North Texas" roll is pretty good too---named after the street they're on in Fairfield. Overall, I've had everything and I always tend to like all my meals here. Enjoy!

I actually avoided trying this place for the first year I lived here. Something about fast food sushi just didn't sit right with me. It is actually not fast food and the selectins was really good. I will be back!

  • Kathy C.

My husband and I stopped by for lunch. He ordered the lunch special and I ordered the angry lion king roll. I knew it would take a lil bit of time to prepare the roll so I ate a lil bit of my husband bento box. After waiting 20 mins, I ate my roll and it was ok. I expected better. The roll fell apart and the rice was lil bit hard. Even though he didn't try it he said "the execution of that is terrible!" The California roll that was in his bento was better than my $9.50 roll!! At least one of us enjoyed our lunch...

  • Anthony G.

This is one of the best sushi places I've ever eaten at hands down!!!

    (5)
  • Andrea D.

Terrible! It was our favorite place for sushi for a long time until they started making portions smaller and smaller and the quality of the food has dropped. is sad that a good restaurant as soon as they get a lot of clientele they start making bad changes to save money. Good luck to them.

    (1)
  • Christopher C.

This place has always satisfied my cravings for Japanese food for a cheap price at that. My favorite roll here is the Spicy Tuna Roll. I always judge a sushi bar by their Spicy Tuna and by far they have one of the best Spicy Tuna Rolls. They have a wide variety of rolls for people to choose and different flavors to satisfy anyone's taste buds.

  • Denise R.

Been here twice and I am hooked! Everything we've ordered is good. The lunch teriyaki spacial is an awesome deal! My 10 year old LOVES their California rolls. The prices are awesome too. The only negative is that his place is small. Very small. Like only 4 tables small. But that's okay cause we just get it to go and go enjoy our sushi at the park! Love this place!

  • Brandon W.

My wife and i have been here numerous times. Food is always consistently good for lunch and dinner. They have plenty of options and our 9 year old daughter loves eating here.

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! If we are ever going through fairfield we make a point to stop. Their party platter is huge and has so many different rolls to try, not to mention so affordable. Their bathrooms are in desperate need of some TLC but I'll still give them 5 stars, it's that good.

    (5)
  • Ryan C.

Ordered here for pick up. What I did like is that my order was ready by the time I got there. What I didn't like is that these rolls are way over priced for what you get. I guess that's what this place is. If you need a quick sushi fix and want to eat at home with a cheap bottle of wine then this is the spot.

FAVORITE SPICY TUNA ROLL, EVER I've traveled the bay looking for that perfect spicy tuna, but this place is always my favorite! Grew up in Fairfield all my life so the best sushi here is Yo's (do NOT believe in anyone's lies about other sushi joints here, trust me). I think the Lion King is their most popular cooked roll. And the rainbow roll is their most popular raw roll. A lot of people come for their teriyaki chicken box lunch special, I'm not really a fan. Sometimes the chicken is dry and they just drench it in teriyaki sesame sauce to try and revitalize it. The green tea ice cream is cheap and a delicious way to end a meal. It's pretty cramped inside so take out is always a good option, you can also call in your orders. If you've never been to Yo's they have a picture menu inside that's pretty expansive and has a description of each roll. They've always got Asian music playing on the tv, but it's never too loud or obnoxious. If you're a fan of sashimi I would probably skip over Yo's, but for sushi beginners or those who enjoy things on the cooked side, Yo's is definitely for you.

  • Steven B.

This place is kind of dumpy. A little shack where you order, and then pick up your sushi at the counter. Salmon Lemon Roll was overpowered by a very sour lemon slice, and couldn't taste much else. The Asparagus Beef Roll had barely any taste at all. Cool wall pictures of all their rolls.

  • Kim D.

Best sushi place in Fairfield! I wish I went here more before I moved away for college. The sushi + sashimi combo was a great deal for only $11.95 & my friend enjoyed her bento box with chicken teriyaki and cali rolls. Only downside is the place is kinda small, so I'd recommend calling in your order or grabbing it to-go. Definitely satisfied my sushi craving!

my favorite sushi spot in the fairfield area. quick and reliable for taste and freshness. so many options to choose from that i have been here so many times and never had the same thing. the only down fall of this place is how small it is, so i find myself eating it to go or outside at times. very friendly staff and some good kpop playing on the tv in the background lol

I absolutely LOOOOOVE this place!! I don't really have any favorites on the menu, but anything that I've ever ordered has never failed me. Everything is yummy!!!

  • brad H.

I came here to see what everyone was Yelping about, plus I wanted sushi. For the high prices the food is just not great. Maybe I was spoiled in Contra Costa County? The taste was just okay and the portions for the price were just not to my liking. The staff seemed to be more occupied with their phones and chatting than customers. I miss then this place was a hamburger restaurant, the food and service was way better.

  • Tuwie N.

I didn't even realize Yo Sushi was a chain, but this location does it better than the Glen Cove one, in my opinion. The interior may be a bit smaller, but the food (a pleasant mix of traditional rolls and more avant garde creations) more than makes up for it. Throw in the very affordable pricing, and you've got yourself a place you can be a regular at!! They have different rolls here than the Glen Cove location. Some are overlapping, but all of them are speedily & artfully prepared to ensure maximum deliciousness and enjoyment for all! :) I recommend the Cherry Blossom roll, and you should always get at least one thing off their specials menu. Seriously, do it. They are specials for a reason!! They are even written in cute handwriting!

  • Marla B.

I want to say that yo sushi used to be amazing. Quality has gone down tremendously. Not really any effort put into the food lately the last few times I have went. Seems more like fast food rather than good cooked Japanese food. When I go out to eat Japanese food I have high standards. My grandma is full Japanese and makes good food all the time. It has to be as good or better than hers honestly. She works at 5 star Japanese restaurant in Hawaii doing what she does best. Let me just say it has gone down in quality so much that I don't eat at Yo anymore. Sakura Sushi and Umi Sushi are the new places to eat. All you can eat and cheap and delicious. I don't mind Yo sushi not being all you can eat but the quality used to be amazing. Not anymore. I probably won't go back until the food goes back to the way it used to be. I highly doubt that so no more.

The most amazing sushi fairly cheap just make sure and take it to go! It's a small dive and not suitable for dining in the Japanese lasagna sushi was bomb!

    (5)
  • The Black Cat C.

Yes, a lot of choices to choose from. They even come up with a name: sexy roll. How sexy can a roll be? Any way, the rolls were ok, not the best. If i'm in the neighborhood, I will definitely try other rolls.

    (3)
  • Jamie D.

Good sushi, decent price. I have been there two times so far. I'm not a huge fan of their Miso Soup compared to others I have had. There is NO ambiance there. You are just paying for decent sushi and some pretty friendly employees. It's very small and the tables are crooked and they don't sit level. Not a date spot if you are going to impress. Not good for a large group, as I said it is a small place.

    (3)
  • Megan W.

I hate sushi very much but this place some how got the best of me. I usually get the California roll that is very good to me. The rice is very good it's sticky so it gives you that satisfaction, my family and I come here a lot because we live near it and all I can say is wow! I recommend yo sushi.

    (4)
  • Danette B.

From the outside you might not go in if you didn't know better. This little dive type sushi joint is one of the best I've had in the area. The fish is always fresh and there are numerous rolls I love. Huge selection and love the pictures on the wall to help with choosing what to order. It is quick sushi for a reasonable price. Space is small so don't go at rush hour lunch time or you will have to eat in your car :) I wish they delivered!!

    (4)
  • Mim D.

The food is great for a really good price! The location isn't very appealing to the eyes but the food and service makes up for it! Forgot what rolls I ordered but everything tasted fresh and delicious. There's a wall full of pictures of the sushi on the counter so you'll have an idea of what you're ordering which I thought was unique. Would definitely be back.

  • Jennifer H.

Very delicious and fresh food every time I have ever visited. The tobiko is just sparkling and tastes almost sweet it is so fresh. I often order to take home and I have never really been disappointed. Sashimi Appetizer is a real bargain, about 7 really thick pieces of buttery, melty, raw fish. I would order big catering platters from them, they cook the rice perfectly. I've had many things there. It's not fancy, it's just real good.

    (5)
  • Melissa G.

This place is super good! They have a huge variety, and the quality of fish was better than expected. I had yellowtail nigiri and I can tell the quality of the fish was good and they didn't skimp on the amount of fish per serving. My favorite thing about this place is that the value is very good. It's relatively cheap compared to other sushi places. It's small! So don't be disappointed if you can't get a seat or if you have to wait for one. It may be best to do take out for this one.

This is a great place to go if you're in a rush and in need of a sushi fix. A lot of the time, sushi restaurants don't open until 5pm or later so it is very helpful that Yo Sushi is open all day long. In terms of the location, it's in the sketchier part of Fairfield. It's about 5 minutes away from the mall and all the ratchets lurk the streets nearby but it does not generally affect their service. As far as food is concerned, they're pretty on point with making good sushi. Their sushi tastes a lot like sushi you would find at a lot of sit down restaurants but there is not much room for dining there. Again, it is a fast food joint for sushi. I give it 3 stars because the place could use some work and the location is not the best. Other than that, I really enjoy the place.

    (3)
  • Wen L.

Awesomely fresh sushi and speedy service!

    (5)
  • Elaine C.

Fast, friendly, affordable and fresh! Need I say more? This is the place to go for good sushi without having to deal with a restaurant atmosphere. There isn't much seating inside, so beware.

    (5)
  • Susan R.

I love this place!! The "sushi special" is less than $9 for a good amount of food. I just started drinking the green tea tapioca frozen drink which is really really good. I call them right before closing all the time and they have my order ready with a smile. Thank you everyone at Yo Sushi :)

    (5)
  • Alexandra E.

The sushi is pretty good. Prices are on the high side. The place is small, kind of like a small burger joint. Service is typically slow. The place is on the dirty side. The thing that ruined the experience for me was the rude service by the short, pudgy guy in the black ball cap. He's sitting around in the kitchen playing on his phone. Delivers the food abruptly. Cleans up abruptly and just overall doesn't want to be there. Normally this is fine, but it's such a small place that it's rather annoying to see. I would not recommend going there to eat. Get take out if you want the food.

  • Vicky L.

This place is aight...only came here once. I ordered the Tempura roll and it was a dollar more than what I pay for at SUSHI TANDY. I was kinda disappointed that it was more expensive than SUSHI TANDY and there were less pieces too. SUSHI TANDY comes w/ 9-10 pieces and its cheaper (jst sayin). BUT the rolls were good, same as any other Tempura roll. I wish this place would expand their store because this place is kinda cramped...only like 3 tables? iono I haven't been here in forev's...Imma update this review when I come here again...MAYBE...if SUSHI TANDY is not open...lolsz

  • Becca W.

If you live in Fairfield, this is place to go for Sushi. If you want real good sushi you want to drive 50 minutes to SF. This is a small shack off the busy road N Texas. Not a lot of parking. Not much table space. There are some tables outside and bar stools. This is a good place if you are hungry and don't want to pay tip. You get some fast sushi. There's a large selection of rolls and some are very unique. Its a hit or miss on rolls... depending on the chef you get the rolls falls apart. Sometimes the rolls are too big to fit in your mouth so you would need to take several bites.

  • Rafael B.

Food was great but the restaurant was really busy. They should really make this place a little larger. I ordered Nigiri/Sashimi Combo. Workers were very kind and helpful. I will come back but probably take it to go next time.

I wish there was a Yo's closer to where I live!! Cheap prices, good food, large quantity. Can't really go wrong. It's a small establishment, hole in the wall, but I think that's what makes it that much more special. Everything is great, but I never leave without an order of the Deluxe Crispy Roll!! Check out my pics: what2eatz.blogspot.com/2…

  • Joey R.

The place does look like a "hole in the wall" kind of joint, but i don't think you should let that stop you from going in. The food is very good at a great price. I go here about once a week probably and enjoy it everytime. They have some funny and interesting sushi names but they taste amazing. My favorite is by far the "awesome" as well as the "sexy". Like i said, interesting names. It can get a little tight when you're inside if there are a lot of people in there, it has a few tables inside and a couple more outside. Well worth it though!

Pretty good sushi at a very reasonable price. High turnover and consistent....which is important at a sushi joint. Their combinations won't leave you hungry and everything that comes with them is pretty tasty. Not the best sushi around, but probably the most cost effective.

  • Lucy D.

Maybe my expectations were too high based on all of the great reviews. I went twice so far and my experience was just alright. The food was mostly good. I had some sushi which was fresh and tasty and that is the most important part of going to a sushi place. I also had the unagi donburi which tasted awful and had a lot of fish bones or whatever in it. Most reviews were raving about the great prices but I wasn't that impressed. Because it is overall misleading, some rolls have 8 pieces and others only 4 or 5. The menu did not state which rolls are the regular size (8 pieces) and which are only 4 or 5. In my experience, the good rolls are only 4-5 pieces so compared to other sushi places the roll is only half the size at Yo Sushi and then it doesn't help that it is maybe a little cheaper. As other reviews stated the place is very small and you might be better of getting take out. Chances of getting a seat are slim and it is not comfortable in there either. Some people said they like the pictures of the sushi rolls on the wall. I liked the idea but it turned out to be impractical because there were people sitting right in front of that wall when I wanted to look at it so I was basically breathing down their neck as they were eating. I would find it better to have a menu with pictures like some other sushi places have. As I mentioned, the menu is confusing because it does not clearly indicate which rolls have 4-5 and which have 8 pieces. Also, it does not clearly indicate which rolls are handrolls. What I like about their menu though is that they have little signs indicating which rolls are fried and which contain raw fish. That is very helpful for me since I don't like fried sushi and I prefer raw fish sushi. Overall, you might like this place for tasty sushi without atmosphere but I didn't find it any less expensive than other sushi places in the area. And then I might just prefer a place with more comfortable seating. It might be good if you are into take-out sushi.

I ate at Yo Sushi yesterday for lunch with a coworker and I thought it was mediocre at best. I had the sushi lunch special with California Roll and nigiri. I love salmon sashimi, so I'm pretty picky when it comes to freshness. I didn't think the salmon was fresh because it was white instead of orange. The fish didn't really taste fresh per say, but I can't expect much since this is Fairfield. The thing I did like about Yo Sushi is the large selection of rolls. I'll try the rolls the next time I'm here and will update my review.

This place used to be my absolute favorite when I first started eating sushi 6 or so years ago. They have a wide selection of rolls which are unique for alright prices. And they are very good! For some reason tho it just doesn't seem to be as good and reasonably priced as it used to be. Last I went the shishimi was cool but not cold! Something that I really like in about my shishimi is that it's nice and cold and refreshing. Also the teriyaki chicken I ordered just seemed too sweet(the suave of course). My friend got a baked roll which was good! I tried a piece and did enjoy it. One of the worst parts tho is how cramped this place has become. Perhaps that's the thing with becoming a popular spot but the place is cramped on the inside with lots of people standing right next to me waiting to order as I was trying to enjoy my meal. Whenever I'm in town I'm sure I'll come back but it won't be as good as I remember back in the "good ol' days"

The sushi is so cheap! Almost half the price of restaurants in the Bay Area.. While the dining room itself is quite small (comparable to a dive bar) their sushi is top quality at dirt cheap prices. If I lived closer I would probably come here all the time! They don't have a traditional menu since they don't have waiter service (you just order and pick it up) but instead there are menu boards posted on the wall as well as a multitude of pictures showing every specialty sushi roll they offer with a description of its ingredients. They had a new take on the Lion King Roll that I've never seen before and now love way more! They called it the Angry Lion King Roll and it's basically the same as the traditional version but with a sweet sauce, tobiko, and crab meat on top. This was definitely my cheapest sushi lunch ever and we ordered 3 rolls plus an appetizer. Such a gem hidden in a forgotten city!

Excellent reasonably-priced sushi in Fairfield. The interior is very small and not very modern so I always order my sushi for take out. Phone in your order in advance and your meal will always be promptly ready for pick up. They never get my order wrong.

I love this place. Small take out or sit in place. Not fancy but great sushi and reasonable price.

Overall this place was good. I would suggest stopping by and definitely trying the Loin King & Red Dragon roll. The location as a whole is not in the best area, but being that I work up the way, it's a great place for lunch. Prices are right. Service is ok.

Very good sushi and at a great price. Wanted to try most of the menu it all looked so good. The place is small so seating is limited inside. They do have some outdoor seating though. This may very well be our new go-to sushi spot.

Visiting in the area. Found parking as soon as I entered the lot. My order was placed within 5 minutes. Wait time on the other hand is another story. After placing your order they give you one of those vibrator things (think positive people ; x) like what you get at Olive Garden and Red Lobster. When your order is ready the little gadget vibrates. I knew from that moment we would be there for at least 20-30minutes and I was right. The wait wasn't so bad but the fact that we had to wait outside was a little disappointing. The size of the seating area is probably the size of a NY studio room which is NOT big at all (and it was chilly that day) My suggestion is don't bring the kids and get your order to go. If your one of those people that likes to try their luck with finding seating, then this place is for you. I headed back to the hotel with my order of California, Philadelphia, and chicken teriyaki rolls. The freshness and taste of my order totally made up for time lost waiting. The size of each piece of sushi is huge! Couldn't finish my order, and enjoyed it very much. Definitely recommend this place for TAKE-OUT ONLY.

Great sushi, friendly service, and good prices for the portions. Have had the bento boxes, several different types of rolls, Chirashi, sashimi. Everything is fresh and tasty. My kids love it too. We have also gotten the party platters which are awesome and a great value. I have brought them to potlucks and they are always a hit.

Definitely a solid 4 stars. This place is great -- fast service, cheap rolls, and a HUGE variety. The entire menu is on the wall, with photos of each roll (very helpful!). I got the USA roll and the Ichiban roll. The sushi was good, but I'm a fan of really flavorful rolls. Either they forgot the spicy mayo on my order, or they need to add it to these rolls. They were tasty but not 5-star "wow!" tasty. But yeah, small hole-in-the-wall type place that seems to be pretty consistently busy. I'd recommend it!

LOVE! favorite sushi place!! Not only is the service is good but the sushi is GREAT! My favorite is the North Texas. It may be a small spot but it's worth it. Always come back whenever I'm in town and always will.

S had a flyer that advertised this restaurant. While a Japanese sushi restaurant in a small old hamburger stand on historic highway 40 might not appeal to everyone; I liked it as soon as we drove in the parking lot. There are only a few tables and we had to share one with other people. It seems they do a booming takeout business. We were surprised by the extensive menu, with 90 rolls, several choices for sushi and sashimi including my new favorite white tuna. The fish was fresh, the miso soup just okay. What else can I say, other than--we plan to return ASAP.

This is the most ....how can I say it nicely...."Americanized" shushi place I have ever been to. It's really not very good. Most of the rolls involve something fried. This is not...healthful sushi. The place itself is tiny. It's really more of a sushi to go type of place. The menu is fairly extensive but I just don't feel like the sushi is very fresh. I have gone several times. I have given this place a more than fair chance. For a comparable price, you can get much better sushi. You may end up paying a few dollars more...but if you've ever truly had food poisoning, You know it's worth paying an extra buck a roll to avoid it.

The only reason this place gets a 4 star rating is because of it's size. This place gets very busy and the place can only seat like 20 people. If you plan on taking it to go, call in your order, otherwise you'll be waiting for some time. I have a family of six and for 60 dollars it is enough to get us full. Really cheap rolls. We eat here at least twice a week. We have tried almost every roll here. My favorites are the titanic and rainbow tempura. If your kids and timid about trying a roll, try the baby sushi. Its just their rice wrapped in seaweed. Their rolls are excellent. Have won solano's best like three years in a row. The rice in the sushi is on point, good balance of rice vinegar and rice consistency, not too dry or mushy. I'm just curious as why there are some people here who said the rolls are just ok. Try to be a bit more adventurous and try other rolls beside the typical California roll.

Good food, friendly employees, fast service, and very reasonably priced. When I'm in Fairfield- I always try to swing by this place. Look out if you are looking to dine-in though...it's very small and usually very busy. GREAT for take-out though!

Yo Sushi is store-bought quality sushi at restaurant prices in a crowded fast-food setting. I was sincerely disappointed and confused as to why this spot gets such praise from locals here on Yelp. I'm sure their deep-fried rolls are delicious. But I try to judge a sushi spot from it's sushi and sashimi and, at Yo Sushi, expect it to taste like a package you'd pick up at a supermarket. Most sushi places have a bar to sit at while the chefs prepare your food in a clean atmosphere right in front of you - even at 'lower' end sushi spots. At the bar here, where you would be able to see over into the kitchen area, there is a menu plastered across the view so that you cannot see in. It was weird to see customers sitting at the bar with the menu mere inches from their face and with little counter space. It did not look comfortable. It's probably best that you can't see into the kitchen anyways. Beyond the cash register looked chaotic and messy. None of the preparation seemed organized and I would not be surprised if our sushi combos that we ordered were already packaged and refrigerated prior to providing it to us. Opening the bag in the car was the final nail in the coffin. A huge whiff of fish smell wafted into the air and I knew immediately that this meal was not going to be good. Contrary to what most would guess - Sushi is NOT supposed to smell like fish! Sorry, Yo Sushi. I had high hopes for you. You were a glimmer of hope of having good sushi in this area of Solano, but I was fooled. Wake up, Yelpers..

3.5 stars A friend of mine decided to take me here when I told him I wanted to try some place non chain that only the locals would know. I had a hankering for some sushi and he said i know just the place. When he pulled into a parking lot I was a little hesitant as I eyed the tiny take-out looking restaurant. We walked in and I ordered the sashimi (3 pc salmon 4 pc tuna) and CA roll (or sub chicken teriyaki) entree and at the suggestion of the Cashier the Awesome roll. He ordered the Angry Lion King and the Deluxe? CA roll. Sashimi & CA roll entree ($8.95?) The salmon was decently fresh but the tuna wasn't properly prepared. The entree also came with miso soup, which was watered down, and salad with dressing. On the bento tray there was also rice, poki (seaweed salad), an orange slice, and... pickled... radish? It was yellow. The CA roll was huge filled with rice and poorly rolled as it fell apart easily, but was still good. The Awesome roll has tempura shrimp on the inside topped with ebi unagi and sauce avocado and sriracha hot sauce. This was probably the best roll of our order. Deluxe CA roll was basically a big CA roll topped with tempura bits, more crab meat and unagi sauce. Nothing special. The Angry Lion King was definitely tasty, although the I was quite surprised at how sweet the sauce was. It threw me off a bit and though it was good, I think I'd try the regular Lion King roll that I'm more accustomed to. The service was nice and it started getting packed as we waited for our meal. Thank goodness we beat the dinner crowd! They even provide a complimentary water cooler for those dining in. However, if this is what my friend thinks good sushi is, he's got a whole other thing coming to him next time he's in my neck of the woods!!

I guess I was desperate and ended up at Yo Sushi on my way back home once again, dammit. I really tried to give it another try since my last review in 2009; unfortunately I was not impressed at all. I had a bento box and although the chicken teriyaki was good the rolls were just ok, nothing to impressive about the rolls or service. I think living in the East Bay I am spoiled to have so many good sushi places, this place is just OK for me.

Overall (7/10) atmosphere (6/10) Food (7/10) Price (9/10) This place is pretty good for the price/location that it is in. If you are in the fairfield area, this would be a nice place to grab a cheap lunch or dinner. Not really a place to take someone you want to impress, but maybe take it home and eat it there. The quality of the fish is decent, obviously frozen, but I expect nothing less from the east bay area. Overall it was a great experience in fairfield. Will I come back? YES. I will be back on my lunch break

My boyfriend & I go here every week, and in the summer we went almost everyday. (yes our life savings went down the drain). It's worth the money every single time. It's reasonably priced and the workers are always friendly. We usually get our 2 item special (I choose California rolls&Chicken Teriyaki, he gets California Rolls&Chicken Katsu). Every once in awhile we will get a special roll off the wall. We highly recommend Lion King, Fantasy, Super CA, Deluxe CA, and the Sexy. & ask for hot tea when you order! :)

One of my favorite sushi spots! Very cheap price for the amount of sushi you get. It's a little small, but that is why i always call before i get there and order to pick up. I recommend the Lion King & Deluxe Crispy :)

  • Tati W.

This probably is as good as it gets! The best prices for great sushi in solano. They also have a great lunch deal with the bento box. They have a big variety of rolls for every kind. The staff is respectful and courteous. You get your own water and they do take out. I definitely recommend this place :)

  • Angie R.

Not bad, not bad at all. I probably would have given this place a higher rating if I wasn't very nit-picky about my Japanese food (and the fact they close at 9 PM). But this definitely hit the spot at the time. The service was friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food is pretty good. If I could suggest a few thing maybe if they could expand the seating area somehow if they ever decide to remodel and they need to add seared tuna sushi and smoked salmon on the menu. c: Oh yeah, and more J-Pop please (not saying that I dislike K-Pop, but it'd be more fitting).

Ok. So my husband and I have been going to Yo since they opened, I believe in Oct. of '03? Maybe? Anyhow, we have been huge fans for about 10 years now, and all of our kids have been happily introduced to sushi through Yo. It is cheap (not as cheap as it used to be though) and friendly and funky and fast. My only complaint, however, is that we miss Jeff !! He is the most wonderful person, and he has been blessed with two beautiful babies in the last few years. I guess that is why he is not there as often! He really kept an eye on everything and now that he is not there so much it feels different. I would still recommend it without reservations to anyone who is not super uptight about bargain sushi in a casual setting. The people who work there are long time employees, and they really care about the food and their customers. Still, it is not quite the same for us without you, Jeff! :)

This used to be my go-to sushi spot when I was in high school and throughout my late teens. In retrospect, I knew absolutely NOTHING about what good sushi was. Yes, I blame it on the lack of authentic sushi bars in Solano county. I raved about Yo Sushi primarily because a) portions were huge b) price was very reasonable and c) slap on some mayo and fry that dang roll and I am GOOD TO GO! I was puzzled when I brought out of towners here and they politely pushed their plates away while still having fresh pieces of sushi on their plate. Now I have a better understanding. The last recollection I have of this place was seeing flies swarm the chef's area. I also had a memorable visit to the toilet for mild food poisoning :( Yes, your sushi gave me the shits.

Went here for the first time after shopping with a friend at the mall nearby. I couldn't believe the amount of choices they offer--so many different rolls, special nigiri or sashimi and roll plates appetizers, teriyaki dishes and Udon. We shared the Lion's roll--excellent. Also had the X-roll, I think it was a special. Also very good. The rolls are huge too! Highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is a bit underwhelming and could use some updating inside and out, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

Positives: * Delicious, soft, tasty fish * A wall full of options for different rolls they can make for you, complete with pictures and descriptions * Rock bottom prices - just about the lowest I have ever seen for sushi * Fun, zany environment * Good tasting rice and other food * Lots of little extras (orange slices in lunch box, big chunks of wasabi, this cool hot-n-cold water dispenser) * Friendly staff Negatives: * A little unclean/greasy spoon-ish (which wouldn't bother me, if I was eating cooked food ...) * Annoying K-Pop videos on constant rotation (is it possible that the only cultural touchstones in Korea these days are Boyz II Men CDs and Lady Gaga videos?)

I love this place, my daughter and I go about once a month. Good food and a really cute girl that works there. My daughter likes the soda with the glass marble you have to pop down. The dining area is too small and I always feel crowded otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

Thee BEST sushi spot in Fairfield. (*Sushi King comes in 2nd*) Fresh fish, great price, awesome presentation. The staff is always friendly. I love it here! I love their 'Fantasy Roll', and for the carb conscious... their new NO RICE sushi rolls are superb!!! Yumm!!! RECOMMEND: DEFINITELY!!!

Not the best quality, but what can you expect? It's Fairfield. The ambiance of the restaurant really threw off the 'typical sushi restaurant' vibe and I kept thinking that I'm at a fast food joint. I'm a sucker for sushi and have been to god knows how many sushi restaurants I've been to. The rolls a tad bit smaller than you'd find at other sushi restaurants. In Japan, presentation of the food is just as important as the quality of the food. If you want to serve Japanese food, don't upset the Japanese gods and step up your game. If you are, however, stuck in the Fairfield area, this is pretty decent if you're dying to have your sushi fix.

I love Yo Sushi! I stand by my point that hole in the wall restaurants are THE BEST PLACES TO EAT! Why? Because they pass on the savings to us as customers! Notice when a BRAND NEW family owned restaurant opens up in new building, the prices are ridiculous. Then they taper off a little as time goes by? Thats cause theyre having us customers pay for all the crap theyre in debt for by jacking up the prices. Ohhhh no, not at Yo Sushi. You get bomb ass Japanese food and for dirt cheap! After reading reviews on here like "oh the chefs are mexican and not japanese"..."the place is too small"..."its in the ghetto" Well to those people, suck it up. In the ghetto? Yah its fairfield, not malibu. Too small? Drive up to Hisui in Vacaville and pay 12 bucks for ONE ROLL! Chefs arent Japanese? Im sure your ass wasnt complaining when you were grubbin. I think one guy said, "oh they call your order and if you have to get it yourself." Ok, the place is tiny, your not walking a marathon to grab your food. Bottom line, picky people, stay away. Your hogging table space. Us people who dont mind cramped quarters, cheap AWESOME food, and "being in the ghetto", are hungry SO MOVE! Keep it up Team Yo!

Ew. I just ordered a dragon roll and picked off my cousin's plate and this place is kind of gross, our food didn't even taste fresh! It seemed like it was out for a long time and tasted funky. The rice used seemed watery too.

I love this place. I usually go to Sushi Tandy, but when we discovered this place, I don't think I've been back there yet. The rolls are big, taste great, and not too expensive. Also, the fish looks pretty fresh. My favorite is the Double Tuna. It's a Tuna Roll topped w/ Spicy Tuna. If you like Spicy Tuna I highly recommend it. I've tried various other rolls and they are all good. My wife loves the Bonito Dragon. So, if you're looking for good cheap sushi, Yo Sushi is the right place.

Our family (and friends) have been going to Yo Sushi in Fairfield since it opened..it's our go to place for Sushi, Sashimi, Bento, Udon, etc, etc. :-) When sick, be sure to get Udon or Miso soup, does wonders :-) The Sushi is so yummy/tasty and prices are so affordable that our friends, far & near-Doctors, Dentists, Priests, etc., etc., order a lot of take-out for many functions as well as for their family/friends!! I only wish they'd offer Pearl drinks like they do in Vallejo..

Only two stars? Yup! I love sushi! Plus I was starving hahah. So the hubby and I decided to come here since we were in the area... Bad idea. Staff was not friendly and they looked like they didn't want to be there. The place looked dirty and there were old dirty trays and cups just sitting there. Mind you, there was nobody in the place but us and another couple and their kid. You would think that they would go and clean that up. I decided to order the shrimp tempura roll which i love. Once again, bad idea. The shrimp was old and cold and the roll was very sloppily made, almost falling apart and it tasted weird. My hubby ordered a California roll, a salad, and a side of rice. They obviously liked him better since his food was fine and tasted normal hahah. Anyhow, I don't think Ill ever be coming here again. I'd rather go to the one in Glen Cove.

Quality, bru. From top to bottom. I've eaten here sporadically for years now and I can vouch for consistency, flavor, and pricing all being at a good level. I know sushi is in the name, and trust me, I've eaten my share here (Godzilla is an awesome BEAST of a roll, along with about 10 others) but it seems like the other fare is what I've gravitate to. The two-item special is a beautiful thing. Teriyaki (prefer salmon and beef over the average-ish chicken), tempura, and katsu always fill me up and leave me feeling happy I went. The place is about the size of a bedroom and sometimes it can get packed to the brim, but for the most part it's no problem. My orders are always timely for freshly prepared cuisine that's certainly no easy task to make; let alone quickly. But Yo can handle itself very well. Not a 5-star, but for sure a solid 4. I hope this place stays around a long time. There's a reason it's won some awards. Keep rollin'!

Just say no to Yo Sushi! We were planning to visit Vacaville and wanted to find a good restaurant along the way for lunch. Yo Sushi had a 4 star rating w/ 120 reviews, so I figured this was a sure thing. Are you kidding me? 4 stars? C'mon folks. There is zero ambiance, the service is barely okay, the rolls are drenched in mayo and the chicken teriyaki is fried before being drenched in an oily pseudo-teriyaki sauce. The only thing saving Yo Sushi from a 1 star rating is that their prices were dirt cheap. While they don't have any ambiance, this actually works to their advantage as they provide an experience that is very accessible and fairly non-descript. This is perfect for folks looking for something quick, cheap, and familiar.

Nom nom nom!! I always order takeout...this place is to small of a restaurant for me to enjoy my food, but that doesn't stop me from giving this place a 5 star- The sushi here is the best in town!! My favorite is the Fairfield Roll - unagi roll wrapped in a cucumber- yummy!! The bento box combos are great when i'm being indecisive and the prices are cheap! Cheap delicious sushi = a happy me!!

Tasty, relatively inexpensive for sushi. I can't say that the fish is the freshest or best, but it does pass my test. I love the Lion king and double tuna rolls the best. The ventilation boxes are okay... the last time I had the teriyaki chicken it tasted old and dry, and they didn't do a great job of cleaning the inedible part s off of it. This place can get pretty crowded and there aren't many places to sit inside so we always get our food to go. Order ahead of time or else you will standing while you wait.

OMG I love Yo sushi :) I'm very picky with sushi, but this place is pretty damm good. Its not perfect but it comes close. I for 1 have never gotten sick off of their food, the fish seems fresh, the olny down fall about this place is that it is way 2 small, but if u think about it thats how they make money. All hole in the wall restaurants r the best! If the food wasn't good then y r they always so busy? right... anyways the prices r GREAT for the amount u get ( its huge) I love my spicy food so I always order the SPICY GARLIC SALMON & SUPER SPICY TUNA & can't 4get the HAWAIIAN POKI so good....

Yo Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant on the planet. It's also a perfect place to stop for dinner when driving between Sacramento and the Bay Area. I love it primarily because our family of 4 can usually fill up for about $30 (and I need a large amount of food) and it's always fresh and tasty and very kid-friendly. We usually stick to the basics: sushi or sashimi platters, nigiri, rainbow rolls, caterpillar rolls, soups, etc. The only thing I have ordered that I didn't like much was the big sushi boat for 8 people. They gave us some things that I didn't care for, i.e. heavily sauced items. Unless you like sushi with a lot of sauces, I recommend ordering what you want individually instead. Each of the 4 tables seats up to about 6 people, 7 or 8 if you crowd in and some are young children. Most people get take-out but we often show up in a large group, given that we are coming from Sacramento and meet people from SF here.

Im tourn on this review i want to give them a good review but its just so hard to when i go in there........I mean the sushi is pretty good but thats not the ony thing that makes or breaks a place.... Lets start by saying its in a ghetto area and the place is tiny and kinda grungy looking inside....Its like being in a little mexican taqaria.....There was fly's inside the last couple times i went.....the cooks dont even look asian more mexican really..... When you go in feels like your right ontop of everyone when i go to look at the menu i have to jossle between people eating to even get a good look at the menu.... They dont serve you they call your order and you come get it....Its basicaly like fast food sushi to me minus the fast part....... I might be just be bias due to the way it looks and being an old crapy tiny building..... I just feel like eating at a resturant is more then just the food and at yo sushi the ONLY thing good about the place is the food... Also i question how clean this place is.....when i looked at the employyes while waiting for my food they didnt seem very clean just as people and i didnt see anyone washing there hands or coming out and wiping down the tables ever.......did i mention FLY's? lol just dissapointed with this place and i really dont get why SO many give it good reviews i guess everyone else is less picky then me....

I'm going to aggregate all my past experiences with Yo Sushi into this review. I've been coming here since they first opened, about five years ago, before they had lines out the door. I was blown away from this place in the beginning. I love unagi (grilled eel) and I had a hard time finding a place in Fairfield that carried it at a reasonable price. Yo Sushi had it and it even tasted like unagi from the SF shops! I was in love! They even had a good sushi sampler, with raw fish, for $8. I did not expect this from a restaurant that used to be a burger joint! I went there two days ago and got the teriyaki chicken bento box. It was OK and rather plain, not stellar. I got my fav unagi roll and the rice was a bit warm but the eel was grilled to perfection. Bottom line: come here for the Japanese specialties like their various rolls, grilled eel combo, or tempura. They are completely worth it! Skip anything teriyaki chicken or beef - you can get those at any generic sushi place. The dining area is small - I suggest take out.

I feel like my palate for Japanese cuisine must have gotten more sophisticated or something, because I was a bit disappointed with the spider roll from Yo Sushi. I thought the avocado was a bit old and the soft shell crab was over fried... Anyway, I still enjoy this place and will still come back... but today, it didn't hit the spot for me. It satisfied by hunger but it just didn't hit THE spot.

I've been coming here for ten years now about twice a week. My current favorite is their Sexy roll and their Volcano roll. I'll add pictures soon. Don't go here because this is MY favorite restaurant. LOL. I'm getting possessive. :) Just so damn good. I recommend their 2 item special. You get so much quality food for only $8.00. It's crazy.

Yo Sushi is pretty delish. The food comes to you so fast; it made me wonder just how fresh it was. We had the Sexy Roll, Super Spicy Tuna Roll, Godzilla Roll, and the Jalapeno Popper special. All the rolls were well made and tasty as can be. My only con from this first (of many to come) visit to Yo Sushi is cramped space, and the menu isn't organized and presented in a way that makes it convenient to order; took us almost 10 minutes to navigate back and forth between the walls, before finally deciding. Also, I was confused as to whether or not they had bento box entrées.. Either way, Yo Sushi is fast and filling, so I would make this your sushi in a hurry spot.

Drove to fairfield to try this highly regarded "fast food" style sushi place.... In a kind of sketch part of town, the inside decor is lacking to say the least....The menu is posted on the side of the windows and their are a few tables and chairs crammed to the other side. You place your order and receive a pager when your food is ready.. you pick up your food. This really turned me off. cant they just call out your name like other places? Touching a dirty pager before eating sushi is Blehhh So we picked up our food...(on a tray!) and picked up all your other utensils from the front....Interesting.... While I didnt quite enjoy my dine-in experience, I think the food itself deserves 3stars. The sushi is pretty reasonable, but we still spent $35 so I find it conflicting that your sitting in a hole in the wall and eating from plastic trays like McDonalds-- the last time I checked, it wasnt $35 for 2 ppl at McDonalds. I would recommend it if your taking it to-go and eating it in a cleaner venue.

looks like a little hole in the wall spot, but the food is actually good. I have had the lunch special quite a few times. It tastes fresh and prices are pretty good. The only downfall is the size, sometimes it is crowded and it is hard to navigate through the tiny space...

I have eaten here three times so far and each time the rolls are fresh and tasty. It is somewhat of a dive so dont expect shangrila when you drive up. It looks like an old drive up burger joint when you drive up. They have at least 50 different rolls on the menu, maybe more. Plus a various assortment of other items. People have given Yo Sushi a bad rep in their reviews and I dont understand why. The place is clean, the fish is fresh and the prices are good. I will come here over and over plus they have phone in orders available. You get alot for your money here. The best thing is it will keep in the fridge for the next day and not fall apart.

I love this place. Me and my family eat here pretty often. Most of the rolls are pretty affordable and very tasty. The staff is super cool. They really haul ass to get your food to you quick! Its usually busy around the dinner rush and the dining area is pretty small, but these add to the charm of it. They always have goofy korean pop videos playing on the TV. The fried rolls are especially good here. We are fond of the Fantasy roll. It is decadent. The Scorpion and crown spicy tuna are also great. We usually spend around 30 dollars here between the 3 of us and leave totally stuffed. If I had to point out a negative; the bathroom is crummy. its not horrible. just crummy. they also serve beer and sake. I would recommend this to anyone. Its a good sushi place.

Love yos. Usually go to the one in vallejo but since I was in town decided to go to this one, first time and I was surprised in how SMALL it was. Still good food but plan to go in small groups just sayin. Also the menu is cramped where customers are seated. Kinda annoying.

Been here several time with my bf and never left unsatisfied. The portion are great for the price, and a huge selection to choose from. My review is based only on the rolls, not the bento box. I've been to many sushi places, and this location is one of my top favorites for taste and flavor. The place is on the small size, but most people take it to-go. If your looking for service and ambiance don't go here. Its meant for more or less a fast food version of sushi.

As I pulled into Yo Sushi, I had my doubts. Not only did the outside look like it was once part of a fast food chain, but the inside wasn't much better. There were three sets of tables seating four, a counter with a couple of stools, a water dispenser in the middle of the restaurant (I thought these were made for offices, but whatever works right?) and that's pretty much it. As I stepped up to the counter, I was ready for the guy to say "Welcome to Jack in the Box, can I take your order?", and as funny as that would've been, luckily he didn't. We decided to order a chicken teriyaki & sashimi lunch and a tiger roll to share. The sushi roll came out within five minutes and the lunch special soon after. I was thoroughly surprised at how good the roll was. The tempura inside the roll was tasty and the sauce had just the right amount of spice. The salad was fresh and the miso soup was decent. The most disappointing part of the meal was the teriyaki chicken. There was an unpleasant buttery taste to it and the chicken seemed artificial. The sashimi however was fresh and they didn't skimp out at all with four pieces of tuna and four pieces of salmon. As more people came in for lunch, I could tell that most of them were ordering sushi and I think next time I'll stick with the sushi since what I had was good and the selection of rolls is pretty extensive. Overall, for a quick sit down more like to-go sushi place that's decent in Fairfield, Yo Sushi it is.

The first thing you have to know about this plae is that it seems a little dumpy at first. We almost didn't go in because of how hole-in-wall it looked. I'm glad we did though. The sushi was good, better than sushi we'd been eating in Vacaville. Not the best place to sit down and eat so I'd definately recommend this as just a take out place. We got a total of 5 rolls and all of them were great. they weren't stingy on the fish or the imitation crab. Not the best sushi ever, but if you're in this area it's worth a stop and especially worth the drive from Vacaville. Yum!

  • Rose G.

Really good sushi for cheap. The space is small so it's not the ideal place to eat at. I would recommend to take the order to go. They also have pictures for all of their rolls. Staff was friendly. I liked it and will visit whenever I'm in fairefield.

I was introduced to this place when my boyfriend brought me here a few months ago. He knows I'm a sushi addict, so of course I was open to trying new sushi places. As for the place itself, it is quite small, but whenever I go there I have no trouble finding a seat. There is also my favorite option of sitting at the "bar stools" where you can look at a jumbo sized menu with pictures of all of their rolls they serve. As for the service, they are very quick and are efficient at getting your order right. I have not waited more than ten minutes for my food. If you decide to eat in the restaurant, you are provided with a number to place on your table so the staff knows where to serve the food. As for the food quality, I love it. The sushi rolls taste very fresh and savory. I have not tried any other entrees other than their sushi rolls, so I can only account for that. My favorite roll is the Lemon Salmon roll. I have had bigger sized rolls at other sushi restaurants, but it's the quality of the freshness that matters more to me. I definitely recommend this place! :)

I live in San Jose, but when I go to Faifield to visit my brother, this place is a go to for FOOD. The place fits about 20-25 people max, even has a bar to sit at. It's not your typical Japanese Sushi restaurant, more of a fast food sushi place. BUT it is GOOD! The quality of the rolls rate A on my report card. They have a big menu of different types of rolls. All should be tried, depending on what fish you like. They're all good! Reasonable pricing, can feed 6 people for about $70

A Korean - owned sushi joint in an old Dairy Queen building that serves unconventional "sushi" with names like Angry Lion King, Godzilla, and Air Force sounds so wrong, but it tastes so right! It's pretty ghetto-tastic, but isn't that where the best food comes from? I'd recommend getting your food to-go because it isn't the kind of place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere while eating random sushi creations. We got 4 rolls and 2 cups of miso soup for no more than $28. Very decently priced!

Nice Staff and Great Food. My favorites are the two item with California Rolls and Tempura. The Magic Balls and Angry Lion King are awesome. Yes, the place is small but I can't fault them for that, get over it people. LOL

OMG! THE STARS LIE!!! I can't believe I'm saying this but "YELPERS YOU FAILED ME" =( I was in Fairfield and decided to drive the 2 extra miles to come to this "4 star" joint that people claim to be the best sushi in town... no it wasn't! I honestly don't know how to describe my experience... the bf and I laughed at the end of our meal. We ended up not finishing anything. It was that horrendous that all we knew what to do was laugh... We ordered the lunch special with the California Rolls and teriyaki chicken. The California rolls tasted like mush, the imitated crab had way too much mayonnaise that all I could taste was excess rice and mayonnaise, providing my pallet with no flavor and baby food texture. The chicken was also terrible. Teriyaki chicken uses GRILLED chicken. This chicken seemed to be boiled, then had an imitated teriyaki sauce over it... so bad we could not finish the chicken. We had two pieces each and decided to fill our tummies with rice. The boiled chicken had this nasty raw meat flavor that occurs from leaving meat on the counter. Then we ordered the Angry Lion King roll that many suggested... seriously Yelpers? Really, that's a recommendation? I feel like I just got pranked by many Yelpers because I cannot imagine anyone claiming this to be a good!! The Angry Lion King roll was baked... already a no no with sushi! Sushi is not baked! The worst part was they baked it with salmon sashimi, what a waste of sashimi! Then they topped it off with that dreadful imitated crab, which was cold. Hot sushi with cold imitated mayonnaisey crab should never EVER go together! The bf and I each ate one and thought that was more than enough. I actually could not swallow my piece. It had the same mushy texture and bland mayonnaise flavor as the California roll, what made it worst was the hot and cold along with the cooked Sashimi. I looked around for a trash can, but non in sight. It took me over 30 seconds to swallow. I was forcing myself to eat the damn thing since I didn't want to leave it on the plate... gawd I wish I did though because I gagged a few times in the process!! I'm so glad there was ginger with our sushi, without that and our tea, I seriously think I would have purged right then and there! Never ever an I ever coming back.... word to the wise, only come here if you wish to punish yourself or someone else. Best thing throughout the meal was the hot tea I bought for $1. Best dollar I've spent, wow so sad.

I absolutely love this place. It is the only good sushi I've found in Solano County. While I've tried many different rolls and have been pleasantly satisfied with each, my favorite is the tempura rainbow roll. The price is very fair, and the rolls are huge. Even though there's not a full waiter service (they usually just bring us our dishes and clear the table after we leave) my boyfriend and I always tip 20% to keep this great restaurant alive. Though they really don't need our help. The place has always been full every time I've gone, with obviously very happy customers.

Recently, I've remembered how much I adore sushi. Then I heard about how Yo Sushi had the best rootin'-tootin' sushi on this side of the Pacific. So I decided to check it out. VERRRRRY reasonably priced, most sushi places cost an arm & a leg. I just discovered that I don't like the majority of fish on the top of my rice though. I am a roll person, but I did not order just rolls. So I kind of gagged a little while eating the shrimp & tuna. But other than that, it's pretty good. And I tried some fried creature of which I've never eaten before - and it wasn't bad. The place is a little small & janky though...

Absolutely amazing!!! May have a hard time finding a seat during dinner time, but the rolls and the price sooooo make up for it. Found this place while vacationing from fl and loved it so much we came back the next night@@

Yo sushi is my favorite sushi place out of all the places I have ever been to!!!! They should keep this as a staple of Solano County because a place like this is basically non-existent in all other places around. Cheap sushi here. And the quality is beyond AMAZING! The California roll tops all those other California rolls out there because I think the meat is made with real crab meat. Wide selection of rolls, sushi and sashimi combinations, tempura etc. All of the rolls are way better priced than any other sushi place you have ever been to. The dining area is small, but like wingstop most of the business is take-out. They have free hot tea if you dine-in. I love this place - all you can eat sushi here would give it 6 stars!!! It would

I am wary of new sushi joints, but after reading the reviews on Yelp I decided to try Yo Sushi for lunch. Not the the absolute best, but very good nonetheless! I have been twice now and if I am in the area I would probably go again. One thing that may put some customers off - the spicy tuna is not spicy, it is effin' hot! Now I eat hot foods with gusto - I was weaned on red pepper - but this tuna actually left the roof of my mouth raw for a couple hours. It may have been a fluke, and I did finish my roll, but some customers may not be able to handle it. Spicy tuna everywhere else I frequent is like Japanese food should be - a blance of flavors that complement each other.

After all these years of being on Yelp, I cannot believe that I have not written a review on Yo Sushi. Here goes. When I used to live in Fairfield, this was my spot! I loved how small it was, I loved the music they played, I loved that there were pictures of all the different rolls, I loved that they had beer, and I loved that one cashier who always wore pale yellow or green Chuck Taylors. God, he was rad. My favorite roll here, as is most people, is the Angry Lion King! My only complaint is that it's too small for my appetite. It's truly great. Not once have I had anything that tasted fishy here. It's affordable, it's still in business, and it's just good. When I think of eateries in Fairfield I think of a few things: Dave's Hamburger, 8 starbucks in a 3 mile radius, Adalberto's on drunken nights, and YO SUSHI!!!! I'm pretty sure everyone in my family that wasn't into sushi, has gotten into sushi because of the Angry Lion King. It's like the gateway drug, but for Japanese cuisine.

It was the Friday before Labor Day 2007, the Bay Bridge was closing at 8PM and ev-e-boddy was heading home early. We left San Francisco at 2PM, were destined for Sacramento and never made it - we ended up in Fairfield at 5PM. That's right, it took us 3 hours to get to Fairfield. Being the omnipresent geek, I have lists of yelp's best for every town, covering my well traveled path, from San Francisco to Sacramento. We were happy we chose Yo. Thinking that 'Yo' meant they spoke hoodlumese, it was a relief to discover that the 'o' represented the brush-stroked symbol for Zen. I am not a sushi expert but I've been to enough sushi joints to say that I'd return here again. I normally don't repeat at sushi joints. The sushi tasted good, my order was hearty and we were done. Positives + The T-Shirts, proudly displaying their Yo logo, are sold at a decent price ($8) and come in several different BMW colors [^_^] + I liked that they had a FO-dee (okay, not quite a 40 ouncer) of Asahi Super Dry, which I devoured. + Great prices, hearty portions. + I dug the picture displays of just about every roll they had available from their menu. Interesting names: Awesome, Fairfield, Golden Gate, North Texas (their address), Travis, ETC Negatives - The itty bitty window air conditioning unit mounted in an upper window could've probably handled only 1/4 this sushi place. It was rather warm inside, that I thought I was back in Sacramento already. I subtracted a star for this. - The T-Shirt sizes are ONE size only - Asian 2XL. In English, that translates to a men's large.

I love this place! Everytime my boyfriend and I go here, we always order sushi from The Angry Lion King, Super Spicy Tuna Roll, Crunchy Roll, and Bonito Drangon..yumm! I used to live near here so I've been known about this place and even though it's a pretty far drive and across the bridge from where I live now, I'd more than willing to still drive the distance just to eat here!

What can I say? This place is the best, bang for the buck sushi in the area! The fish is reasonably fresh and you get a lot for your money. They have a HUGE assortment of rolls! The place is small and usually crowded, but worth the wait!

This place is one of my favorite sushi restaurants of all time! The prices are reasonable and their menu of sushi and sashimi is enormous! Granted, if you start to depend on this place for all of your quality Japanese food, you'll forget what it really tastes like. But this place is great and all of their food is delicious! I love how this place has huge signs inside displaying pictures of all their sushi rolls and lunch/dinner combos. They also have another location now open in Vallejo, CA! It's about time this great sushi joint starts expanding!

  • Tony R.

I think it's the simplicity of Yo! Sushi that makes it a wonderful place. "Cheap and delicious" ...One of the posters here took the words right outta my mouth! From the outside it doesn't look all that and it's pretty cramped in the inside. I think that's what makes it so special. The prices are way cheaper than most sushi joints but it packs as much flavor if not better than most expensive Sushi places. If it wasn't for my friends recommending this spot, I wouldn't have even bothered. It's all about word of mouth! Bento boxes and an assortment of sushi... It's all good! Grab a party platter for the next party you attend or host, you'll be a hit!

  • Manda M.

First time, delicious! Second time, Booo! They were super busy so I guess they just threw my order together and called it a day. I went back, third time, gave them another chance. My Lion King was super burnt. Very disappointing. Price is VERY cheap but I can see why... There's about 4 tables in total and there's also a very tiny bar type thingy on the side. I suggest order and take out if you're really desperate for sushi. The pictured menu helped a lot though. So overall, on a good slow day like the first day I tried it, 5 stars... But a great restraurant is a great restaurant regardless the pressure or amount of orders at a time. "If you can't stand the heat, get the Eff' OUT THE KITCHEN!" 3 stars- sorry, kids.

I have to bump this up to five stars. Yo I'm sorry for only giving you four. Any restaurant that greets you by your first name then starts making your roll before you've even ordered, deserves five stars. well done sushi gods, well done.

  • Rosemarie B.

This is a delicious sushi place if you don't actually eat inside. The food is wonderful but the mind wonders when you see employees dump oil into drainage in the middle of a small kitchen and flys flying all around and employees touching money then helping out in the kitchen, maybe that's what gives it that great taste! The price of the sushi is reasonable and the creations are delicious but just don't look how the food is made. I confronted the employee on him dumping the oil in drain and he said, oh it's okay! PS. NO it's not, the cooking oil or grease attracts rodents and other bugs and should be disposed in cans and be picked up and disposed properly! This is not something you would want around RAW food.

Experiencing what I did with Tokyo Express in San Francisco - the more I eat here, the more I miss eating better Japanese food. Despite that, it's still a good joint -- cheap eats, good portions. Just not the best. I stick to the beef teriyaki, and some of the rolls. I avoid the chicken teriyaki - it's just too dry, and not cooked the way I like it. I'm not a fan of their udon soup either. Too mushroom-y.

Wow! I've driven past this place hundreds of times and never stopped in...until now. I was craving sushi so I hopped on Yelp, saw the reviews for the place and figured I should give it a shot. Man, am I ever glad I did!! This place is WONDERFUL! The atmosphere is a bit like a small restaurant you might find in Okinawa, Japan. Very friendly, excellent service, fresh delicious food! My husband ordered chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki. He liked the teriyaki but LOVED the chicken katsu. I tried the katsu and it was fantastic! Crisp, juicy, flavourful. I had the Ebi nigiri and the Inari nigiri. Very fresh and delicious. Totally filled me up and satisfied that wicked craving! We split an order of the tempura shrimp. SO GOOD! So light and crisp and perfect! (and we took it 'to-go', in a box...it stayed crisp the whole ride home!) Really, we couldn't be more pleased. We plan to come here again and SOON! YUM!

I can't help but notice the faint scent of cleaning chemicals whenever I step into this place. What's more, the pseudo-white kitchen lighting in here seems to only enhance that smell instead of enhance my vision. But the food never fails to make me forget the smell that so strongly bothered me before. Take a look at what's on the other side of the wall and the cooks, and you'll see a wall covered with a wide variety of sushi and what they're composed of. Wow. I've actually made it my personal mission of at least trying half of these in my lifetime. The sushi is always top quality, and I haven't yet known the cooks to ever come up with anything that hasn't at the very least quelled my cravings. However, in comparison to the other sushi restaurants I've visited, they could stand to offer a bit more for your money. Quality over quantity? Perhaps, but this is far from the best sushi I've ever had at this price. The people who work here are as friendly as they come, the sound of Jpop boosts the Japanese experience, and despite my complaints about the lighting, it does provide an added air of cleanliness. The restaurant is quite small in size, and visiting can be an unpleasant experience during peak hours (lunch time?) due to the amount of bodies swaying about in the limited space. Regardless, it's still a dope place.

Good sushi. A bit over priced. The edamame is served hot here. Make sure you get the Awesome roll here

I like that it's tiny, cramped and the walls are covered with sushi pictures. It's like a competition for seating everyime...and, it's always full...since it can only fit 18-20 people total (inside and out). I appreciate the small building though...it's not as commercial-looking as other sushi joints. I really like the options, and the sushi rolls are a good size. The baked rolls aren't the best-maybe it's just a preference, but I really don't like when the rice in the rolls comes back all mushy...sushi really isn't meant to be baked...Anyways, I like the crunchy sushi-whether it be tempura inside, or crunchy tempura bits on top. For flavor, the sashimi wasn't the freshest and wasn't as smooth as it should be. Anyways, it's a good spot for a quick, convenient sushi spot! I'd go back

Who knew there's good sushi in Fairfield? Good food, large servings, fair prices...just not a lot of seating for how busy they are, but I guess that's a good problem.

  • Sean T.

For Solano county - this is the cheapest and best Sushi I have found. They have a large variety of rolls, and the portions are very large. Very small place - that us my only gripe. If it is busy and the weather is not great to allow you to sit outside, I recommend take it to go. In terms of taste - other than a few places not in Solano I have been they have as good a sushi as anywhere.

Num num num num! Do yourself a favor and try the Sexy roll at Yo Sushi! TO DIE FOR! Especially if you're into asparagus. Also - the green tea ice cream is absolutely delish! I love this little hole in the wall. The staff is always great and very friendly. I always leave feeling satisfied and happy! The prices are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! High quality, low prices... what more could a girl ask for? Get on over to Yo Sushi! You won't regret it!

This has got to be the BEST Sushi place ever. The ISLAND is my favorite...

Best Price and quality for the price! Fast, Fresh, and Yum Yum!!! Second time I've been to this place. Still the best in the area. I ordered Sashimi combo and told them I didn't want the eel, and they substituted salmon sushi. So nice of them! Always fresh and always good. I would go everytime I pass Fairfield if I could! Thanks!

NOTHING COMPARES... NOTHING You'll have to pay a lot more for the quality/quantity mix you get here. The quality is great for Sushi place that doesn't pretend to be anything fancy.

It's been a while since I was last here, since I moved to so-cal and all. But I used to come here atleast 2-3 times a month. My favorites are "sexy" and "angry lion king". It has good prices, always fresh, always bomb! the place itself looks a little grimey, but looks can always be deceiving, and this place is the perfect example of that. Next time i'm back visiting the parents I will definitely stop by YO!

I have not been to yo sushi in awhile although I used to go A LOT! i started going to little madfish in vacaville just because the area is nicer but their service is really slow. I came back here the other week and oh how i missed it. I tried the chirashi and it was well worth it. $13 for sashimi over sushi rice, salad and miso soup. nomnomnomnom...I noticed that had new items available as well...just wished they had a bigger place. I think that is why i stopped going here as much. I always find myself hawking out a table inside seeing who is about to leave and standing next to it before someone else does :/ but the food is good and cheap. I will start coming back more again

The best and fastest sushi in Fairfield. The quality could be better, but for the price I think you get what you pay for. I try to order something different every time and they all have been good! My favorites so far are the Sexy roll, Double Tuna, Golden Gate and Sashimi/CA roll entree. The wall of big pictures make it easier for you to make a choice. It's always good to see something before you order it, instead of trying your luck and getting something you didn't expect. Only downside is the limited seating, but I don't mind eating outside if it's packed. And the taste is just so good that I can't knock this place ;)

I would've been coming here long time ago if I had known the sushi is that good and the prices were that great. The location prolly makes it questionable but once you've eaten here there's a good chance you'll be coming back. Great selection of rolls and the next time I go I'm going to try the bento box or chicken katsu. I just might have to go there today.

You probably will not impress a first date when you initially drive a date up to this joint. If you can get over it's divey, "old Foster Freeze," or "old Dairy Queen" look, you and your date will be happy. You will not get the best tempura ever or miso soup that will blow you away--though that stuff and their other "hot foods" are not bad here either. What you do get is cheap, fresh, flavorful sushi rolls and a lot of it. Their sushi roll menu is colorful and diverse. You would be hard pressed to find such variety of sushi at such low prices. Their rolls run large and a family of four can gorge themselves full without going broke. These guys easily rival the "holes in the walls" in the City yo.

  • Steve T.

Fresh sushi at a reasonable price. Nothing to complain about here. I got the $8 sushi plate that was nigiri sushi and california rolls and the asparagus beef appetizer. The sushi was all good. The unagi seemed especially fresh., They seem to make an extra special effort to get fresh sushi. The appettizer was a spear of asparagus wrapped with sliced beef and then everything was grilled and covered with teriyaki sauce. It was tasty. I don't stop in Fairfield often but I would stop here again.

Holy hell those rolls are big! Yes, it may sound crass, but it's not meant to. I kid you not, they were seriously gi-normous. Yo Sushi was the perfect last stop after a night of hedonism and major over-indulgence, culinarily speaking. I could only get about 3/4 of my roll down the hatch before I felt the familiar taste of gorging yourself on too much food. Acid indigestion. God love it. I would absolutely come back here if I lived closer. It's cheap, they have a massive selection, and even though it's not the most fresh stuff in the world, it does the job when you just feel like stuffin' your face with some good cheapy eats. Food on a budget. I'm such a fan! Beware of the space inside, it's like a burger joint and is pretty small. Gets crowded quickly. And the restrooms are out back...and well...not the cleanest things in the world. But aside from the space itself, all I gotsta say is - bring on the rolls!! Which reminds me (note to self)...I might end up with a few rolls of my own if I don't watch this hedonist thing. Eeek.

I LOOOOOOVVVEE THIS PLACE!! I once used to live in Fairfield and my family did this place at lease once a week for take out. But now I live about 20 mins away, and we STILL make the drive for this SUSHI!! It is always fresh, good and worth EVERY PENNY!! I have never ate in, but we always call ahead and order. All the rolls are GREAT!! This place is so good, I have even begun to try some new rolls, instead of sticking to my California roll and lion king. The tempura is good as well, I always order extra sweet potato and they throw it in no extra charge. The staff is fast, friendly and anytime I bring my niece in they make her that cute little orange pumpkin. I would give them 5 starts, but I don't to much care for their teriyaki Salmon. I have ordered it twice and both times over cooked, but other than that, they are perfect.

So it looks like one of those shacks on the street. Don't judge a book by its cover! This place offers great sushi for even greater prices. I like coming here on the way to and from school and home. I admit it's quite cramped and small so seating can be an issue for larger parties, but they're opening up one in vallejo which makes it all the more exciting =)

  • Deanna J.

I was really impressed with this place. Fresh sushi at reasonable prices AND satisfying portions! I grew up in Japan and really wasn't an udon person until I returned home. It is so hard to find a place that does udon well. This is one of those places - I LOVE it. (I also love the wakame salad, the gyozas, the katsu - all yummy!) Their serving are generous (and I can eat). I couldn't finish the udon so I saved it for the next day. OMG! This stuff tasted just as good cold as it did hot! By far my favorite spot in Fairfield.

  • Maley S.

I had the Awesome Roll & the Godzilla Roll. Both rolls were the bomb! Yo Sushi is a small hole in the wall spot but affordable with good quality sushi. Staff is friendly. I would definitely plan a stop when ever I pass the Fairfield area.

My cousin told me about this place where they have good sushi and it's pretty cheap...Yo Sushi it is! So the hubby and I decided to try it out. Very easy to find off of N. Texas St, place from outside seriously does look like it was a burger joint. The inside is very small, like the other reviews had mentioned. They have a variety of rolls to choose from and I love how they have pictures of them on the wall....Yess, I likey the visuals! Since it was a nice day, we ordered our food and ate outside, had a little sushi picnic! My hubby got the Yo Sashimi Combo which includes 4pcs of Tuna, Salmon, Hamachi, White Tuna, miso and rice for $15.95. Not bad for what you get, he enjoyed it. It was either the hamachi or white tuna that he said was like butta! Very fresh sashimi, i was surprised. I ordered the Lion King and Volcano roll (ca roll w/ spicy tuna), which was good portioned and delicious. You can't find a Lion King roll for $7.50, seriously it's under $10, that's just crazy talk!! It was Yum!! That alone is worth the trip to this sushi spot.

Yo Sushi...what can I say? First of all, don't judge a book by it's cover. When you first drive up to Yo Sushi, you'll see that it's housed in what used to look like a drive through burger joint, but don't let it fool you. The sushi is amazing! Now, I'm a purist when it comes to sushi; i like my fish to be raw, untouched and pure-no distractions with sauce and all the bells and whistles, sushi chef's use to dress up maki. This is one of a handful of places where all i'll eat are the maki rolls. They do offer tempura, teriyaki and sashimi. I've only had the maki and sashimi, and I'm very pleased that they are so generous in proportioning out the sashimi pieces. I have to comment on the green tea because in all of the sushi restaurants i've eaten in, this was the only one that offered a green tea with toasted rice. If you love green tea, toasted rice add a nice nutty flavor to the tea which highly compliments sushi very well. A great way to clean the palate for your next sushi bite. I'm rating this restaurant four stars, only because of seating, so I highly recommend that you come when it's not lunch or dinner to avoid a rush of people. I'm also happy to know that Yo Sushi has opened up a second location and this time it's in Glen Cove near Vallejo, CA. I will be seeing you soon.

I've been coming here since 2005 (give or take a year) and hands down, this is the best sushi spot in the Suisun City/Fairfield area!! Everything at Yo Sushi's is reasonably priced, fresh and EXTREMELY tasty!!

My mom always has me order take out from here whenever we're craving sushi. I like the reasonable prices and that there isn't a long wait like at other sushi places.

For a quick sushi fix, I'd recommend this spot. But, don't get your hopes on dining inside since the place is really small with only 4 tables and a few seats bar stool style.

This is a lil hole in the wall place that packs!... Was very impressed the first time I was there by the inexpensive prices, I thought to my self this going to taste like grocery store sushi... No, was wrong love all their rolls, good quaility for sushi in fairfield... I hit this place often!

I Love this unpretentious restaurant! (ok, it's sort of a dive). While you can eat there, don't expect to dine in a cute japanese restaurant... this place is kind of like the In and Out of sushi.. very small dining room.. not fancy AT ALL. This is my favorite place to go while in Fairfield.. in fact we make it a point to pick up a party tray of sushi ($32) for the family if we are in the vicinity. Comes with: Tempura Fried Tuna roll California Roll Super California roll (w/eel) Tuna Roll Cucumber roll Tempura shrimp roll Spicy Tuna Roll Unagi Roll Their fish is fresh, the rolls are large and the price can't be beat. They also have a fabulous Hawaiian Poke that they serve.. I miss this place now that I no longer work nearby =(

  • Angel P.

5 STARS! and well deserved! The sushi is creative, fresh, and inexpensive. The staff is always friendly. I've never been disappointed here! The place is small but who cares when the quality and price is worth it! If you're claustrophobic, take it to-go. I love the pictures on the wall however it does make me more indecisive as I cannot make up my mind on which ones to order. :) Their food is DELISH! enough for me to drive across town for! Yummm...

  • Angela C.

The two big 'up sides' to this place are: 1) The price and 2) The employees. They are super friendly and always seem to know who we are and are happy we are back. The 'down side'? Low quality sushi and makes my stomach upset. I used to enjoy going here more - especially because it's so inexpensive for sushi... But then I realized that it made my stomach upset every time I went there. And just at this sushi place. I can usually eat other sushis no problem. So, now it's not a place I like to go if I can avoid it. I'd rather save my money up and have no sushi for a while and go someplace with better quality.

Ah...the crapshoot that is eating at random sushi places. Yo, from the ghetto fabulous exterior and layout (think rallys) has all the makings of having a fun night sleeping next to the toilet, but alas still not sick! The pictures on the wall of all the roles is of course also very helpful, because sometimes you forget what a california roll looks like. All this aside, they actually have a large and quite tasty selection of rolls at inexpensive prices. It is a little spendy for lunch (it is sushi,) but until I get sick I say this is the best option in all of Fairfield (not serving burgers and named after a Kevin Kline movie.) Bottomline: Go Value: Great

  • Julia B.

The food is delicious. The outside is a little daunting. At times we drive by on the off chance it isn't too packed to sit with a kid-in-a-high-chair, hoping to eat a yummy coupla sushi rolls. The first time I ate here I was surprised by the amount of food. I can usually pack in some sushi, but here I was able to eat maybe 2 rolls. And it wasn't all rice! I've been to those places that have the all-you-can-eat (and don't leave any rice on your plate!) sushi joints, and it's almost all rice. And I've been to those really expensive places that have barely any rice, and not a whole lotta fish that keep you eating moremoremore! YO! is a cheap, yummy place. But get out of the way as soon as you're done. They don't kick people out for lingering, but it's the polite thing to do.

Not only is this place very cheap, it's VERY GOOD! Ate twice one week. I had this place 3 times. Loved it! Gonna have my husband come try it when he gets a chance. Too bad the place is tiny as hell, but otherwise, the food & service is quick and great(:

LOVE! Been coming here for years. Food still tastes great! Small place but it's okay. I think it's the best sushi spot in Fairfield. But then again their rolls are the best compared to the other spots I've been to.

I was impress with the way they present their sushi. Look very delicious to me. Most importantly, the food tastes great while filling us well I would recommend everyone to try their special Yo! sushi, crispy outside, and a little bit spicy on top. I will have to come back again to see what s inside that roll. Last time, it was so fun with my friend that I didnt pay enough attention. The only negative thing about this place is they don't have enough space for a party of 8 or above. We had to slip our group into half and sit in the patio. However, their sushi is perfectly fine for take-out

Me and my best friend eat here every weekend. This weekend we decided to try one of the appetizers called Magic balls and let me tell you they are truly magic. They are stuffed mushrooms with all kind of yummy stuff inside. I also love the sake specials because after a long week a nice shot of saki is always in order!!

The ambiance of the joint is very casual. Reasonable prices for good sushi. It a good place for something fast for lunch or a relax dinner to take home. When we first moved to faifield we asked around for good sushi this place is one of two places we like to go.

Im actually yelping about this place as I am about to finish my Poke and Philadelphia roll that i had just purchased from them for my lunch haha! Yo Sushi is decent. When you're low on cash and are in need of a quick sushi fix, yo sushi is there for ya. While they might not have the best quality Sushi, you definitely get your moneys worth for what you pay for imo... Their sushi is definitely better than their hot foods. Im not too fond of their Teriyaki. The sauce so gelatinous and THICK and the "grilled" meats are pretty much tasteless. Anyways, the staff there are very friendly and welcoming! Always greeting you with that friendly Japanese greeting I can never decipher (sounds something like "WASSAP HOMAY") HAHA.

  • Christine G.

I think the quality of sushi for the price you pay here is unbeatable, really. I usually order a titanic roll, its like $7.25 here... at other places its like $13.95 for the exact same thing. They have a good selection of sushi and they are quick. Plus, the employees are really polite. Its a good place to eat lunch when you're low on funds. I usually call ahead and order because by the time i get there its already, and I love that because its so convenient.

This was the first Japanese place we tried when moving here and also found reviews for it so we decided to stop there one night on our way home. We decided to go with the recommendations, one of which was the Lion Kind Roll, a Cali Roll and the some other one I can't remember. I thought the rolls would have been a lot better if they didn't drench them in so much mayo which was probably the only thing you could taste. So I'm a little hesitant to go back and try others, but the service was OK and they are on the cheaper price for the area especially if you go with a bento box. But for now I'm only giving 2 stars because of all that mayo.

    (2)
  • Ryan F.

Yo! How I want to give you five stars, but I cant in good conscience. It doesn't pretend to be anything its not. Its quick, cheap sushi and it serves its purpose. Ive been coming here for over 5 years and its been consistently good. Yes ive had much better sushi, but for the price and convenience this place cant be beat...especially in Fairfield.

  • Lindsey A.

Beware, there's a $10 minimum to use that plastic here. Anyway, the sushi here is surprisingly good for the price. I opted for the Sushi and Sashimi combo plate for $11.25 (ouuuch) because of that lovely $10 minimum, but I wasn't disappointed because it came with A LOT of food: 6 California Rolls (meh but still okay), and quite a few pieces of nigiri and sashimi. The hamachi nigiri was highly suspect so I let that one be, and unagi nigiri and I have never really been friends to begin with. And, what the hell? Am I tasting mayo in this California Roll? Eugh. Sushi missteps aside, the salmon and tuna sashimi tasted pretty fresh and the rest of the nigiri were just right. Then the food coma hit. Mission accomplished.

I wanted a new place for sushi so I turned yelp. I knew this place was there but was a little (ok, very hesitant) to try it due to its appearance. There are a bunch of sushi places in this area (Bay, Sushi Tandy, Wasabi 201, etc) and not that many of them are worth going to. I read the yelp reviews and went to the website and noticed that this Yo sushi was the same Yo sushi that is in Vallejo. Knowing the reputation that the vallejo location has I decided to go with it and try it out. I ordered 4 rolls (yes I am a pig and I Love sushi) and it came out to $25!!! Granted 3 of the 4 were California roll based but still! Everything was very good. One of the rolls ( a fried california roll) was a tad to greasy and that was the only one I didnt finish. I went to Yo on a saturday night, I called in my order. They were pretty busy but quick to get my order done and they were very nice and attentive. I will definately go back and try a few more rolls. I am very glad I have a place a lot closer to my house than my last go to sushi bar!

Liked this place a lot. Granted, it is a hole in the wall type of spot and is not exactly fine dining, but a.) its fairfield, b.) its on N. Texas Street, and c.) its cheap sushi... BUT, to make up for all this, it really is good sushi. Came through yesterday with the BF because we were craving sushi, but not the huge bill. Decided to try this spot because I've heard great things about it and I have to say that it was pretty damn good. The rolls weren't that huge as some people might say. Also, the rainbow roll was a little too salty and rich for me...(what is that from anyway? Mayo? Ew.) But anyway, yes, there is a mexican worker behind the counter, but don't be alarmed he is just ringing you up. Pretty authentic spot although the set up of this place is a tad on the "This used to be a Burger Joint" side. Oh, it was? Hmm, now everything is soo clear. It might not be what you're used to and since the prices ain't bad at all, its worth giving a try once. Just to give you an idea, there is a water machine type thing for you to get your water, the pictures of all the rolls are taped to the wall (although was strangely helpful), there is a fridge for you to choose your own beverage, and you come up and order at the register. Its not exactly white tablecloth, but hey, that's Fairfield....Yo.

The building doesn't do the food much justice. We had an unagi don, a volcano roll, and a spicy tuna roll. All were delicious. The prices are slightly cheaper than those of a sit-down sushi restaurant but equally filling and satisfying. I especially appreciated their menu, which is a wall covered with pictures of each of their rolls. I wanted to order all of the rolls, but unfortunately, our two tummies were not big enough to eat the entire menu. Although the restaurant itself is not good for groups, they do have party platters that were appropriately priced.

  • La C.

WOW! Yeah, you all heard me! WOW!!! You guys weren't joking! Their special rolls are awesome! I've been meaning to try this place for the longest time but unfortunately have never had the chance to.....UNTIL our good friends had us over for dinner and ordered their large party platter. Most of the rolls were to die for --- esp. the Angry Lion King and the crispy rolls!!! Yumm!! Even better than Sushi House in Alameda. The platter consists of 12 rolls and feeds about 8 - 10 people. Even the kids enjoyed the sushi and they are really picky when it comes to their sushi! I think my son ate all of the cucumber rolls and I wanted to eat all of the Angry Lion King rolls! hahaha Too bad this place is not a great place to dine in but I am all for ordering out from this place and kicking back and watching some TV, with sushi in hand! :)

They are so freakin' good!! For quick and low priced, it is the best! The only thing is they need a bigger home. When it's busy, the line has nowhere to go. You could literally have your backside right in the table behind you where someone is trying to eat. But they're so good, I'll keep coming back!

This is my first time at this place and I wouldn't go back. The location is made me feel like I was walking into a gas station convenience store. It's so small you have to walk into the place and look over other customers' shoulders on the wall in order to get a full look at all that they offer. People say that this place is quick, but based on tonight's experience, I disagree. They brought out the beef bowl (terrible, btw) first and the next dish didn't come out until we had long finished the beef bowl. We ordered the Tiger roll and it came out better than I expected. They were supposedly out of uni. The salmon and yellowtail nigiri was okay. They gave a good size cut of the fish, but the hamachi and ama ebi definitely looked weird...like it was from a weird part of the fish or they tried to sear it a little somehow. And for such a small place where they only have few tables, they don't clean their tables/bar fast enough. All the customers clear the table on their own for a little bit before a staff comes out and wipes down the table.

I love this place!! My favorite is the island roll!! Raw salmon on top the roll with fresh lemon slices = heaven!

  • Janay I.

The best part is how cheap it is, the rolls are really tiny though and it gets so crowded you are sharing tables with strangers which can be a good or bad thing. I was most impressed by the North Texas roll out of the many types I have tried there. They are speedy and cheap, that's about it I will not comment on quality.

Simply put, best sushi place I've ever had. I've made Fairfield a stop whenever I'm in Northern california or drive past it. Cheap prices and huge portions. Such a pity I live so far away. Seems like the AF guys love it since I always see them there everytime I stop by. I only wish they built one near where I live, you just cannot get sushi of this quality and price here in Washington.

This place was a waste of time its a fast food sushi place where the food is made by mexicans, i went once and never again. Oh and the food was bad and no place to sit. Sushi Tandy is much better

This place is soooooooooooooooooo delicious I have it on speed dial on my cell LOL.......I usually go there about 2-4 times a week. The place is a hole in the wall but the food is delicious. It's very fresh and I have never gotten sick. I usually take out. I get the Dragon or North Texas. I think I will try the Loin rolls.

I have to admit when I first moved to Fairfield I used to go here often when I craved for sushi because it's quick and so cheap. Yo sushi used to be my standard for a good sushi at a decent price. I really didn't know any better. Well, over the years I've tried a lot more sushi at different places and when I came back to Yo I just couldn't eat their food anymore. I've come to realize that the food here is just.. blah. No wait, honestly, it's really bad. Fish is not fresh at all, too much rice on the rolls (that often fall apart) and some of them just have too much unnecessary garnish or mayo or any other crap that make it seem that you're eating really good sushi. But you're not. Do yourselves a favor and go to Aki Sushi or Wasabi 201 right around the corner.

Took the kids to the Jelly Belly Factory and for lunch, they had a sushi craving. After looking for sushi places nearby, I found Yo Sushi which was moderately priced so off we went to try this place out. Ordered a Crunchy Roll, Crown California Roll, & a Lambada Roll. All were excellent and delicious. What makes sushi good is how fresh the ingredients are and this place didn't disappoint. Place is small like a pull up burger joint with seating outside and a few inside. If you're craving sushi and in the area, I definitely would recommend you try this place.

Its a very popular sushi joint to go to in Fairfield. So, I could not pass on writing a review on this restaurant. If I'm craving sushi, this is where I get my fix. Its not the best sushi, but it always seems to suffice. They offer an wide array of sushi, especially for those types of people that like that fried sushi with the special sauce on top. What I like most about this place that they are fast, service is great and they offer party platters starting at $30! The small party platter is huge and is more than enough for a family of four. If you love California rolls, this is a good platter to get as they make various types of California rolls in there. It's a great place for lunch if you are craving Japanese food and need to get it fast!

love coming to this place for lunch. be strategic when coming here for lunch. either come before 12 or after 1 to avoid the lunch crowd, or phone in your order and pick up to go. the rolls here are really good and inexpnsive. i usually get either the awesome roll or the north texas roll with a cucumber sunomono.

Pretty good price for sushi, but you get what you pay for. Do not get their teriyaki. Beef is dry and chicken is rubbery. Their tempura isn't bad. I go to Yo occasionally when I feel like having a cheap sushi fix, but their raw fish always comes with a lemony aftertaste which I find odd. For all you non-raw sushi eaters out there, this place is good deal!

Really fresh great tasting sushi. Good place to call ahead and order if you have time to go pick up food for your lunch break. This is my little sister's absolute favorite spot. She used to spend all her allowance here. Lots of different rolls to choose from, decent prices.

Mmphfhiarllifhffmpp Oh, sorry that was just me with my mouth stuffed with delicious sushi. Delicious huge sushi. Haven't had a bad roll yet! Great prices, excellent laid back atmosphere. They lack in the amount of seating but make up for it in super cheap tastyness! I come up from Oakland just to go here. I can't stop talking about this place. Yum!

Im not sure why this place has high reviews... I had the cal rolls and it was nasty! full of mayo n no meat... Everybody in our party was so disappointed with their sushi!

Good/Wide selection of sushi. Seriously, you can get any sushi you want here. The good thing is, they have pictures so you know exactly what you're ordering. The Bento box is also good. Some are okay, some are awesome. Its small and can get a little crampy during peak hours. But other than that, cheap and yummy.

The real Yo Sushi! Love this place just for the Lion King. Everything else is ok, nothing out of this world but cool if you're hungry and craving some japanese food real quick. For some reason it's a lot better than the one in Vallejo. At least the food is, Vallejo has better ambience and location. If I were rating this place just on the Lion King it would be 5 stars.

  • Hai T.

This place is great! The sushi is served up fast, and has pretty good prices. The place can sometimes get packed, cause its so small, and can probably only seat like 12 or so. The pictures help out with sushi selections. I would recommend this to anybody.

Yo Sushi is a converted burger joint. Most of the orders are taken to-go... I had the 3-way teriyaki bowl which included about 2 oz teriyaki beef, 3 oz chicken thigh, and two panko battered tempura shrimp. It was eh.. okay.. the teriyaki sauce was basically brown water thickened with cornstarch, nothing a little soy sauce couldn't fix, but still. For $6.95 it was huge and really filling.. I didn't have the sushi which seems to be the draw of the joint. I'll have to try that the next time I meet up with someone halfway between Berkeley and Sacramento. 4 stars for huge portions, quick and efficient service, and ample options. Not gourmet AT ALL but it's good fast food for decent prices.

the best thing about this place is how efficient they are in keeping costs relatively low in relation to the quality, creativeness, and variety of their food. for the most part, i dont want to see a 20% price increase for some dude to wear a samurai outfit or a chick in a kimono when i want some sushi. moreover, i dont really want to tip them. yo sushi gets my vote because they figured out a way to keep my sushi cravings satisfied without having to glut up the cost with a bunch of bs. yo sushi is simple and straight forward - quick, easy, and great value.

Finally found a decent sushi joint in Solano Co! We moved to Fairfield 6 months ago and have been driving as far as Davis to find a decent sushi place. We found this little gem via Yelp and decided to check it out based on the reviews. Ok I admit, I was a bit turned off by the exterior of the restaurant. Even more so that it was pretty empty (the first time we went) and there were only a couple of tables to sit at, plus the bar that faces the huge menu on the wall. So after studying the wall for a few minutes we ordered. I dont remember what we ordered, but it was served super fast and it was PRETTY! Everything that we had was super tastey and fresh. We've been back a second time since then and ordered different rolls and were still just as pleased.

This is my fave sushi in the Vacaville/Fairfield area. It's cheap, they have a huge menu, and everything tastes good. The best one is the Golden Gate roll. They have all the classics and some more creative stuff, too. The bad parts are that it's kind of out of the way and there's not much room inside to sit and eat.

    (4)
  • Lindsay C.

This is a lunch time favorite, and it's beginning to get hard to find a seat. When it's nice, you can sit outside. Food is good, and price is right.

i should prob mention this was my 2nd visit to this place.. my 1st visit was a few years ago & was awful.. (enough said) but i think all deserve a 2nd chance & by gosh the 2nd chance worked out for the better! i ordered spicy tuna roll, California roll & rock n' roll... spicy tuna was on point & was pretty much the taste i was looking for.. the cali roll had a tad bit too much mayo but still tasty... the rock n' roll was good but I've had better (not very much flavor)... they offer great deals as well as daily specials.. not a lot of tables (eating space) & tends to be packed with customers often but clean inside & friendly staff!

I really like Yo Sushi, good stuff. I have only gotten to try one of their big sushi entree plates which usually come with a variety of the more popular sushi rolls, since usually we are ordering for a group of people. But I am sure the rest of the menu is just as good. Like others have said, I haven't had a bad roll or experience yet. The only drawback is it is kinda small and not in the best part of Fairfield, but the people that work there are super nice and always offer a helpful suggestion.

  • Sherri J.

I eat here once in awhile. The sushi is small and certainly not of the same par elsewhere, but it's okay. The staff don't seem to like anyone but Asians. Puh-lease. You're in America, and we buy sushi, too. Get a life.

This little whole in the wall, former hot dog shop might not conjure up ideas of fresh, tasty sushi, but this little gem still delivers, as long as you know what to order. Yo's strength are its dizzying number of rolls, some traditional and the type you might find in other sushi joints, others uniquely their own, and named for many of the spots around the community. Their Lion King and Crazy Monkey are both top notch, and like almost everything they sell, very reasonably priced. Their rolls continue to surprise me, in both their creativity and sheer size. These things are huge and nothing but good. However if you are at all experienced with sashimi or nigiri, you may be disappointed. Their "maguro" is not the right fish, being a dull pink instead of the red it should be, though it is still an acceptable taste. Salmon is often considerably fatty, and definitely farmed. Other fare are acceptable but nothing to get excited about. Their udon is a steal at around $6 to $7. I would avoid one of their other cooked items though, as when I have had it here it is quite dry. If this is more your thing, I would highly recommend two other sushi spots in town, Aki Sushi (formerly Izumi's but still high quality) and my personal favorite, Wasabi 201's, both right around the corner. So if you're going to Yo's remember, get the rolls and they won't disappoint. They are an easy cheap fix for anyone out there who loves sushi.

Great sushi without any fuss. Cheap...try the hamachi kama. As good as any fine restaurant at a fraction of the cost. Great party platters too. And in Fairfield...we'll you won't find much better.

I'm a big sushi fan and Yo Sushi is really the best in town. It's not the greatest sushi ever, or anywhere, by any means, but for Fairfield, it satisfies my sushi cravings on the weekends. My biggest complaint is that sometimes they seem to be closed at the most inconvenient times, and when they say they are open. One time it was closed during lunch hours. If they can get it more together with their staff, I'd think of raising my stars.

  • Sammie B.

I'd only gave it one star because of the price, which still isnt as cheap as SF, SJ, or even small towns like San Bruno or Sunnyvale, but apparent in Solano County it's hard to find REALLY cheap sushi. I got over $40 worth of sushi to go - which I do have to say was nice that they put it on a party platter, not a bunch of boxes, and tried about 8 different rolls. None of which were good, and smelled "fishy" Although the "cooked" rolls were a bit better, but still not good enough to make me want to EVER come back. Take my advice, go to Wasabi 201 right around the corner, on Texas St., you'll only spend like $1 more (seriously, not an exageration, this place ISNT cheap for what you get) and you'll be full and SATISFIED! Not puking in the toilet for 3 days.

  • Mina A.

Been coming here since it opened, and whenever I'm in from out of town, my friends and I always like to make a stop here. The amount of good food you get for the price is unbeatable, they're quick, clean, and they're finally open on Sundays! A typical Solano County resident hangout, I almost always run into old aquaintances here. They do call-in orders and take-out, and they have lots of good, fresh rolls to pick from if you don't want to do a typical bento box or meal. Their udon is tasty, their party platters are a great price for a lot of sushi, and I'm sure I could go on and on about why I love this place.

After years of hearing great things about Yo Sushi, I finally tried it out last week. I ordered a Lion Prince and Travis Roll and was unimpressed by both. Little Mad Fish in Vacaville has a similar roll called the Lion King, which is usually ready in 10 minutes and tastes better. My order took almost 30 minutes and did not live up to the hype. The rolls are cheaper here, but they are also haphazardly made. I don't think I'll be returning here. Mad Fish has its service issues, but their sushi is way better.

    (3)
  • Riza A.

Good (not great) sushi at a good price. I stay away from anything non-roll like here, but the sushi is good for satisfying the cravings without putting too much of a dent in your pocket.

When you take it all into consideration this is quite a great place... food dirt cheap and taste is really fresh and delicious. their sushimi plater is very good and any roll i've had there was great and filling! i go there around once a week since i've started working in Fairfield!

Excellent experience. The food was great. I went on a Friday night with a group during a weekend stuck in Fairfield. They all liked it so much they wanted to go back on Saturday night. I had something different each night and tasted everyone else's stuff. No pretension in this place. It's a small building, so seating can be a challenge. Super cheap. I'll go back.

Running errands in Fairfield yesterday and needed a quick place for lunch. My daughter wanted sushi so we stopped; however, I was skeptical as the place was so small. Boy was I wrong. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. We ordered more just to take home! What the restaurant lacks in ambiance, it more than makes up for in excellent quality food with generous portions. This is going to be our new "to go" sushi spot! Worth the drive from Vacaville as the food is just this good.

Well I thinks NO! Food was good until I found a hair! Food was good until I seen them preparing the food outside on their dirty tables I don't get it Yo Sushi are you saving so much money that you cant see the benefit of getting a bigger place I mean the place around the corner is bigger and keep closing you got customers so get that bigger place and get it together a bigger place and cleaner food prep area means mo money mo money mo money gosh! Poverty Mentality :(

Reasonably priced sushi. They have all kinds of crazy rolls. Make sure you look at the pictures near the booths! It looks like this place used to be a Dairy Queen or something. The food is served quickly as long as you don't order the edamame. There aren't a lot of tables inside or outside, and if it's busy it'll take them a while to clear the outside tables - so it may be hard to get a table during lunch if you're in a party greater than 2. The first meal I got here was a spider roll and edamame ($12 total), which tasted great and the portions were big. The edamame took forever, but they gave me around 3 cups! I went back a few weeks later ordered a super spicy tuna roll (spicy tuna topped with unagi) and seaweed salad ($10 total). It was served within 5 minutes - so I was in and out in less than 20. A great place for a quick lunch.

It's a friday night and we felt like sushi... We've been to many good bay area sushi places and I would have to say this place has some great quality sashimi!! We were very pleasantly surprised!! Their poke is pretty good too. I would recommend their seafood tempura, sashimi, and lion king roll.. Actually that's all we tried tonight but we will definitely come back more often to try more things. Portions are great value as well. All in all, we definitely recommend this place!! It's awesome!!!

I thought the owner's name was Yo. He probably thought I was some old 40 year old Asian wanna-be rapper when I used to greet him with, "What's up Yo!" His name is Jo. I don't feel so bad since I only missed his real name by one letter. I couldn't help notice his combination Nigiri sushi with gold sprinkled on top. I had to try this since I remember seeing a TV documentary on serving sushi with gold sprinkled on top placed neatly on naked girls in Japan. Plus, I heard that eating gold has some health benefits. Sadly, no naked girls came with this order but it tasted really good. I couldn't taste the gold but to be fair, what's gold supposed to taste like? With little flakes of gold in me, I'm supposed to worth more now right? :) I also ordered Tataki Sashimi appetizer and this was really good too. Tuna was seared really nicely and it had that tangy flavor which is little addictive. I'm still thinking about that tangy flavor as of I write this. I hope he is not using crack as one of the ingredient to get his customers hooked.... because.... I think I'm hooked! I guess I'll have to send Jo the bill for treatment at a rehab center of my choice. Would I go back to this place again? Well... do bears go bathroom in the woods? It's a really cozy place to eat on the way home after a day of snowboarding with friends.

We love Yo Sushi!!!!! it's the best little hole on the wall place in FAIRFIELD!!! they give you your money's worth and more!! The selection is endless and even their specialty sushi's are even at a reasonable price!! My favorite so far is the FIONA!! but trust me everything is great and you must taste it all!!! I definitely give it 5 stars all the way!!! and they open on SUNDAY's now !! OHH ELL YA!!!!!

I am fortunate to say that this place so convenient to my place - literally a hop skip and a jump! The variety of sushi is suprising for such a small place - from Travis, Lion King (my personal fave), Golden Gate, etc, the sushi is decent and you can get lots for a great price. The 2 item special is a great deal - and if you are tired of plain old california roll as your "second" item - they'll let you substitute for any specialty roll on the menu (for the difference in price). Good to know they are flexible... Tempura, beef teriyaki, and their hawaiian poke, are great dishes as well. As far as ambiance, there isn't any - this isn't the place you'd take a date to. There is a small eat-in bar with stools, and 4 -5 tables that seat approx 4. The staff is friendly, and courteous. TIP: If you like Lion King like me, order it first - it usually takes longer to cook (bake) and comes out after the rest of your group is already halfway done with their food. Nevertheless, it's definitely worth the wait - the creamy salmony goodness... need I say more? Yo Sushi has become our go-to place for quick, great tasting, affordable sushi.

Last year I went to Fairfield for job training and was stuck with a group of people searching for Subway and pizza joints on the first day... luckily I had the sense to explore and found Yo Sushi. It was easy to stay within the food expense budget I was given, and I was back that night for dinner. I was there at least once each of the five days I was in Fairfield, and honestly fell in love. The Lion King was my favorite. Now whenever I have time for a drive through Fairfield I take the N Texas exit and drive straight to Yo Sushi. Delicious, delightful, and easy on the wallet. 5 stars!

  • Anna H.

The only reason why this place gets 4/5 stars is because it is not very comfortable to eat there during the lunch or dinner rush. Other than that, the sushi is CHEAP. Cheap as in there isn't a single roll over $8 or $9 dollars I think. Portions are HUGE but don't get their bento boxes, the chicken seriously does not look or taste like chicken. The chicken teriyaki sauce is some glutinous looking jello mass thing. Stay away from their food food. Their sunomono is delicious also. Too bad they load it with cucumber and not much seaweed salad. Can't expect too much for that price though. =)

For the price of sushi, this place is a plus. I would rather go to the City for GREAT sushi, but hey, if your in Sqaurefield, and have a taste for sushi, and your on a budget, Yo's is the place to go! Not a place for sit down dining, but togo, you can take it to a park and have a nice sushi picnic!

I give this place a four star because of the quality of food and price. This is like a japanese restaurant you can find in the city in comparison to the price of food and ease. Do not go here if you want to impress a date, but do go here if you want a good meal for a good price.

  • Maricel B.

Hella (yes, hella) cheap sushi that's hella good! Hell effing yes! There is no way I can express my love for delicious, cheap sushi. My best friend and I hit up this joint whenever we can. My only gripe is the size of the place. It's best to take your order to-go.

The only real complaint I can say about this place is that it is so busy so often when I visit. They could use a little bigger place. Otherwise, they are relatively fast, and the food is good.

I was kind of skeptical about this place due to its appearance that reminds me of a fast food restaurant. You place the order with the cashier and you pay. You sit at a table if you can find one since the place is very small and you wait for them to deliver your order. I was actually very happy with the quality of the sushi they serve here. The price is very reasonable and they have bento boxes that were very good too. Overall, good place for a quick sushi fix.

  • Ryan C.

yeah, this place is awesome. I wasn't big on sushi til I came here. The staff knows what they're doing and they just flat out make good sushi at reasonable prices. I prefer simpler pieces like spicy salmon or tuna rolls.

  • Eugene G.

Tasty way to feed the fix when out in the 707. Though menu items range from standard sushi joint fare to slightly above average.. there are the gems! Blackhole, Angry Lion King and hawai'ian poki...(thats it) YUM! Lots of pictures for the indecisive and picky. Great way to feed a crowd.

    (4)
  • Steve S.

This is one of our local faves. It fixes our sushi cravings with the usual fares but they do offer variations. My girl's favorite is the Angry Lion King plus with all the pics it makes it easy to decide. The only thing is that the place is small, there are about 5 tables and then a kind of bar seating area plus 3 small tables outside. With the outdoor seating the restaurant is dog friendly. We have brought our pups with us on occassion. So far so good, Yo Sushi hasn't let us down and for sure not let you down.

This restaurant is one of the few restaurants that we regularly go to in Fairfield (and the only Japanese one on the list although we have tried others). Their food is decent and the sushi is very reasonably priced. It reminds me of a walk up sushi place I used to frequent on Irving in San Francisco. They may have changed it since we first tried it, but I would not recommend their spicy tuna as it only tasted like tuna mixed with sriracha sauce.

I was so excited to try out a local sushi place that had high raves that was easy on the pockets! All I have to said is YUCK! I purchased the 2 item meal (California Rolls and Salmon Teriyaki) to go and I'm glad it was to go or else I would have dumped it in the trash after 1 bite! The California rolls was too big, creamy and the avocados had brown spots everywhere (It looked like like a big brown cream ball) and the Salmon Teriyaki sauce tasted water down. I did notice while I was waiting 10mins for a to go plate, that there was a lot of people coming in and out. So, someone out there must like it, but it was not for me!

i have to sushi places before and this one tops all of them. the restaurant looks like a neighborhood burger joint but the food is great. the sushi is great. when i went there i felt like i was in heaven everytime i ate a piece of sushi.. its cheap, i spend $20 and i had 3 rolls which i couldnt even finish because they prepare it big.. the only thing i didnt likie was the music but hey, small things comes in big packages
