Once upon a time in encinitas. I found myself depleted and in need of substance. Three tall boys and a sound burger later, my life had taken course. Yes, you guessed it, Gangam style bro. Anyhow, imagine sex with a frozen snickers, that you put in the microwave. Exactly. This is the experience you will find at the hands or Dr McArthur. Just don't ask for a cosmo.

Best wings in North County hands down (don't forget to order the dynamite sticks). Great staff and atmosphere. Perfect place to watch a game or for a nice casual dinner out. Better beer selection might push it to a 5.

I recently realized I've never written a review for D street which is crazy because this has been one of my favorite places to go out in Encinitas for two years now! It's always fun on the weekends - love that they bring a DJ after around 10. There's an area right by the dance floor with booths that you should try to snag before the music gets going. Their drinks are good, the bartenders aren't pretentious, and it's always a good time. My favorite part of D st: They have a photo booth right next to the entrance and they post the photos on a website, so when your phone dies and you and your friends look super cute, have no fear: there will be proof that you had a good time. I've never actually eaten anything other than fries when I'm there - but they're awesome.

I used to live in Encinitas, and I really miss the D Street Bar & Grill. The food is awesome, the atmosphere is great, and the service is friendly. I've even danced there once or twice, and believe me, I'm no Ginger!!! It's a fun place, and I always make a point to stop by when I'm back in town.

Its the first Bar that greets you as you enter through that big Enci sign. Ive been here plenty of times & each time is always a good time. Today i was just enjoying the Cali sunshine and decided to drop in for a drink. The cool thing about this bar is that its 2 stories and if you decide to stay downstairs, you have a good spot to people watch as you enjoy your drinks lol. Its low lit inside to fill in the vibe their going for..the food their is very tasty but a bit over priced if you dont get their on Happy hr. One thing i noticed was that this bar has a thing called Drink Exchange, its basically a stock exchange program that shows what drinks are selling the most at the time and the prices vary daily depending what the demand is on a certain drink. So you can pretty much wait and watch for you favorite drink to hit its low if your ballin on a budget haha. Overall i love D Street. Its the only bar i feel comfortable at and it doesnt draw in the loud rowdy crowd how most bars tend to down here.

need to drink more! SCOOBY SNACKS! It's our official drink for cousins night out. Came with my cousins for more drinks. I realized I was here another time before a few years a go. It's a nice large venue. They ended up having a dj later in the night. We kept the drinks coming until we left. It's pretty cool. Something laid back where you can chat with the people you are with.

I came for Monday night football. There was a cool mix of people, yummy half priced food and love my guiness!!

This place is pretty cool! Very good, large space with lots of TVs. If you get seated in the back, it's a bit more difficult to see. Came here for Sunday football, and it was lots of fun. There was a lot of people on staff which was very nice. Our server never seemed stressed because she has plenty f people to help her like expos and busers. I ordered the steak tacos which were amazing. Very fresh. The table had wings which were delicious. My favorite part was the grasshopper dessert - mint chip ice cream between two huge, soft chocolate cookies. Nice touch - they have mouthwash in the bathrooms!

This seems to be one of two hot spots as I wander around this town. The place is always crowded and any bar that has green beer all weekend before St. Paddy's day is good in my books. Alot of bars in Encinitas are small and do not have anywhere to stand if it's crowded, so unless you snag a seat here, it will be very awkward standing drinking your beer. This is also a great sports bar as TV's are in great viewing range of every seat and on my second visit on Monday, it was 1/2 price night as most of the menu was half price and also green Coors light was just $3. So, the $11 burger only was about 6 bucks and I had it with blue cheese crumbles and an onion ring. Fries that came with it were beer battered I think and were quite tasty and the burger itself was good, but not worth full price, so this was a great deal. The pretzel bun I have determined just doesn't squish enough and is not good for a burger bun. Still, this is a great bar for sports and Monday is really the day to go here for food. They did have Irish music playing and passed out hats, but it still did not seem like a St. Patrick's day atmosphere.

D St. is the go to bar when my friends that live in the area don't want to go to downtown but want to stay local. There usually isn't a line, but when there is, you may have to wait 20-30 minutes to get in. I can't say I have had the food, so check out the other reviews for that part. This is all about 10pm scene review. They have a dance floor that gets fairly packed on Friday and Saturday nights. The music is usually top 40, but depending on the DJ you might get something different. They also have a tiny, and I mean tiny lounge upstairs. But if you get there at just the right time, you might be able to find a seat and take a breather from the downstairs action. There is a younger 20's crowd with a slight hint of 30's sprinkled in the mix. I guess I go there to keep feeling young.... I like it, but don't love it. Will I come back? Sure, if my Encinitas 'amigos' want to stay local.

The girls and I went out to watch the Clipper game and it was a wonderful time. The Ahi Sliders were delicious and a couple dollars off on Happy hour. Cocktails were a great price for happy hour $3, GOOD DEAL! Great Crowd, tons of friendly people and fans, appreciating the season change and the beautiful SoCal weather. Good service, fun, upbeat, maybe not a die hard Clipper fan but hey! "you win some, you lose some" Thumbs up, all the way

Great drinks, bloody Mary's are awesome, came last night to watch the game, TVs are great, clean place, food looks good, prices are reasonable, lots of good specials, nice place to sit in a booth and stare out at the people going by.

Over the years of coming I can say that the crowd and vibe have slowly changed and even from day to day, night to night. Many years ago, not to date myself, but I would regularly see an older well dressed crowd listening to radio jams. Obviously they upgraded their sound system, but the crowds got younger, a little more fresh. It's not like they are playing club bangers, but more their idea of real hip hop. It's still a bar that gets crowded and there is no dress code so inevitably you'll see the anti-social drunk around while most people are having a good time. I like how there is an upstairs lounge, but hate how the entire bottom floor is designed. Bathrooms way in the back, small dance area, tables disrupting everyone's flow. Huge pillars right at the bar. It reminds me of a cross between The Stampede and Rookies I've actually never eaten here despite the fact I know they serve food. I've really only come here at night so I can't attest to that. So we come to today and the crowd is getting younger, the songs are getting to be more my style, but only when a good DJ is on and you can forget Saturdays and Friday's late because it's a pile. Early in the evening the drinks are good, but they get worse, sloppy. Most of the bartenders are experienced, but some flirt too much and provide slow service. The security has always been good here, incidents were squashed and moved outside quickly and quietly. If you Vape the upstairs area is generally acceptable if you ask first, don't assume.

Have you been here on a Saturday night? Well its popping; This bar gets totally packed, I like that I can drink with friends or get down on the dance floor (warning the dance floor is kinda small). Their was a live DJ and it was a mix of pop and hip-hop music. The vibe is totally fun. The downside is their is only 2 stalls in the women's bathroom, 2nd if you want to smoke and theirs a line you have to stand back in line to get back in and last it does get a bit crowded so if your claustrophobic you are warned.

Really enjoy the fish tacos here! I go on Tuesday/Thursdays and they have specials on their beer battered fish tacos and margaritas- how could you go wrong? Service is always quick. Other food that I've had here is good, but not necessarily something to write home about. I've been here for the club portion on weekends too, it can be pretty happening sometimes, with a short line usually outside the door. It's very 'white' boy dominated... with awkward dancing around at times... but It's a little but more of an upscale and clean atmosphere....very Encinitas (: totally worth a visit!

Finally went in here about 2 weeks ago with my BF to have a change of pace. Was not super crowded when we got there, close to 8pm, we snagged a table within a few minutes, which proved to be great as the night went on. Got pitchers of beer, calamari and split the buffalo chicken sandwich. Beer = expenisve (coors lite, I thikn was $13 per pitcher), Calamari = blah, Sandwich = excellent, and HUGE. We split and really didn't need the calamari first at that point, plus it was not that good. I love calamari and have a list of the best on Yelp. This is not on it. Service sucked, our waitress was terrible. I've been a cocktail waitress, I get it. Job sucks. But try, honey. However, I did post up on the busboy and made him my 2nd boyfriend during our stay, and managed to get him to help us attain more pitchers of beer as needed. Will be back, it was fun. Good music, phenomenal people watching once it got busy, around 10pm. Youngish crowd, lots of brand new legal age drinkers. Proven by the beer soaked jacket and feet I came home with...not seasoned pros at holding on to a pint of beer in a crowded place. But not the first time I've been soaked in beer, won't be the last, I may have even been the beer spiller myself when I was 21. Good times.

If I'm in downtown Encinitas, drinking ironic beer, wearing a v-neck shirt under a vest, with my taser on my belt loop and my dancing sneakers secured on my hobbit feet the third thing I want to do is hump the air on the dance floor at D-Street. (What are the first two things I do you ask? I'll give you a hint it rhymes with bacon.....its bacon.) If I have a desire to walk in to D Street bar it's for only a few reasons: 1. Hip thrusting enough air on the dance floor so that I have at least 2 feet of awkward space around me so that I can do my best impression of Carlton Banks from Fresh Prince of Bel Air. 2. I feel like experiencing what it would be like to walk in to a French whore house due to all the douchey colognes the guys are wearing. 3. Getting puked on. 4. Exchanging recipes with the Hawaiian bouncers If I have no desire for any one of the four then I won't be here. With that being said the pizza ain't bad, it's actually quite tolerable. I just can't reason with eating here when downtown Encinitas is bringing so much game to the food scene these days.

Funny how a person finds places sometimes. I started coming to Encinitas cuz I heard about Raul's Taco Shack on "California's Gold", a PBS show produced and hosted by Huell Howser. Read my review of Raul's AFTER you finish this one. Because of that, I discovered the Swami's Meditation Gardens; you must go there. And I couldn't help stumbling onto D Street Bar and Grill. D Street B & G is right across the street from Raul's. NE corner of The 101 and (of course), D Street. Hey, when you see the "Encinitas" sign, you're THERE. If you've never been to Encinitas, just GO. Or check out the pictures. I haven't eaten the food at D St, YET. Since I love Raul's so much, so I can only review D St. as a drinking establishment. But that's just for right now; I PROMISE to write a food review once I'm qualified. This visit (1-26-2012) was my fourth visit, but 1st time I remembered to bring my camera. D St. is a great place to hang out; I always wind up staying longer than I intended to. Whether it be the staff or the patrons, everyone is friendly and outgoing. I'm not really a "regular"; I don't live quite close enough, but the local folks make me feel like I am. They have FREE WI-FI! I usually leave the computer at home, but it's nice to know. TONS of HDTV's so you won't miss a single play. If I were gonna be in the SD area for "The Super-you-know-what", that's where I would be, for sure! I don't wanna use "that" name; they NFL might try to CHARGE me, ya know? The drinks are well done, prices in line with other bars, BUT they have a thing called the "Stock Market"; I posted a picture to give you the idea. Various drinks / beer are "on the big board" and, depending on demand, prices rise and fall. They're constantly changing, so you gotta pay attention, but sometimes there are SIGNIFICANT discounts. They have live music. Schedule varies, so check the website for who and when. This night, singer/songwriter Peter Hall was performing; I included a coupla pic's of him too. Like I already said, the staff is great. I want to give a special "shout out" to Manager / Bartender Ryan. I TALK like I TYPE. A LOT. Surprising, huh? I practically talked Ryan's ear off. Somehow, Ryan, you put up with me AND never missed a beat in your providing of great service to everyone. Folks, when you go to D St. look up Ryan, and tell him LARRYTHEDINER sent you. Even though I can't review the food just yet, I did check out the menu. Prices are reasonable, maybe a couple of exceptions to that, but that's all. Everything on there is stuff I like to eat, and I'll bet you will too. THIS IS A WEEKDAY REVIEW. Yelp won't let you check more than three "best days to go"; weekdays are when I go out. But I think this is a good place to go ANY night of the week. Oh, yeah, and I hope I don't get in trouble for saying this, but ALL the waitresses are HOT, honestly. Or maybe they keep the ugly ones in the back, I dunno... BOTTOM LINE: D Street Bar & Grill is a great hangout. Friendly staff and patrons, great drinks, all the TV's you need to keep up on sports, and all just TWO blocks away from Moonlight beach. Please GO! larrythediner .

We have been coming to D Street for years and we love it! The food is delicious!!! My husband loves wings Wednesday, the home made ranch dressing is crazy good, and I love the Philly cheese steak sandwiches. They have this one busser, Danielle, who is always super high energy and smiling, and my husband and I love to see that! It makes our dining experience very fun. All the waitresses are great. We will continue coming to D Street! And their desserts are awesome.

Pretty nice place for groups, food and service were good. Didn't like the chicken wings at all. The chips that came with the tacos were really tasty. Ahi didn't seem very fresh to me, didn't like it.

My daughter, her friend and myself were on the public sidewalk waiting to enter the establishment when the door man groped my daughter's breast. I confronted him telling him he didn't need to touch us and especially on the breast! I asked him to get his supervisor and he said "I am the boss" then told me to "get the f__k outta here". This kind of behavior may be acceptable at a lowlife biker bar in Riverside, but not in North County! He wrecked our evening!!!

Came here as a convenient stop before a film festival next door. The server was slow and possibly drunk. The food was not very good. Even the pizza could not be finished, by most measures a tough task. I am a very accommodating eater, and ended up picking apart my sandwich and not finishing it. The drink tasted kinda funny.

This bar is great, I love to come here with friends for football and day drinking/food coma. They have big booths and lots of tables but make sure you get there before the game starts so you can get a seat because this bar fills up fast! For not being a 'sportsbar' they have lots of TVs and can easily show all the games at one time. (Go Seahawks) The service is always great, servers are super friendly and the prices are reasonable. Apparently there's an upstairs? I've been here like 10 times and have never ventured up there.. interesting.

  • Abbie H.

Yay, D Street! It's always packed on the weekends, which is a good thing, because I've noticed Encinitas sometimes has a problem with that. People are really friendly and the servers are nice too. Drinks are great prices, and they have a super cool photo screen that uploads to the internet for free! We got some really fun pics that night. D Street is good Enci fun.

We went there for some drinks and snacks and when the waitress asked to see our licenses she told us she would have to scan them since they were out of state. The manager then came over and informed us our ids were fake. He said by law he should confiscate them, but he was graciously returning them and denying us service. We are both of legal age....and we're freaking pissed off. Do you deny service to everyone from another state? Not going back.

I have been to this bar a couple times now and it's been decent each time. It's a nice spot with a fun atmosphere for watching football games or grabbing food early in the day. It can also be pretty lively at night. I was last there the week of Halloween, it was great seeing the place get crowded with people dressed in their costumes and doing their thang on the dance floor! Fair amount of seating in booths for those like me who like to people watch or chit chat with friends. The dance floor is a bit tight when it gets busy. Two bars on either side of the place keep the drink lines down. On weekends you will usually encounter a wait at the door to get in, but I would say it moves rather quickly. If out and about on your bar crawl keep this place on your list.

  • Matt A.

I went on a Tuesday night, so it was pretty quiet. I actually really like the place and the food was very good. My only complaint is the prices. I paid $10 before tip for a house salad. I think that's a bit high. But the ambiance was good and the wait staff was friendly.

Love this bar! Get the wings and sliders. You won't be disappointed. Rare to find a place that is chill enough to be family friendly during the day, but still a go-to night spot. A must for any bar crawl, and if you haven't enjoyed the fun of a drink exchange, get in your car now and drive to D St.

Bar/Restaurant type feel -- turned Club! Going around 9:30-10ish at night, the atmosphere is pretty much -- hanging out with friends at tables, sitting by the bar, taking the load off of a stressful day -- chillin'. Once 10 o' clock hits, BAM! Tables getting moved, seats getting shifted, DJ starts blasting music -- the party has started! The drinks are at a pretty good price: $4.50 for a beer, $7.50 for an AMF, $20 for a pitcher (idk what kind of beer; I just overheard the bartender say the price) and they don't go cheap on your alcohol either. It's not watered down at all; just straight up the good stuff! The vibe from the employees is great and creates an environment for a great time! Definitely gonna come back! d:)

girls happy hour! comfy booth seating with primo view of a few matches on the flat screens. hh deals runs till 7 with some drink specials and a couple of bucks off the starters. i'm more of a vino fan and they had some for $6 but this place needed a dark beer so I went for a guinness. munched on some extremely spicy buffalo chicken strips. yeow! and cooled my tongue with the spinach and artichoke dip. easy parking with the train station right there but i was lucky enough to get some rock star mojo street parking.

  • Mikki B.

3rd visit, never disappointed! Excellent service, great bar and grill ambiance, and wonderful food. We didn't go for the night life, just dinner, late afternoon/early evening. They had a musician providing some cool tunes. Started with Mozzarella Sticks and also Spinach & Artichoke dip...YUM. Special on fish tacos which, according to the group, were very tasty. And I had a NY strip which was cooked perfectly...and the vegetables were fantastic! The only bummer was the Philly...the meat was a little tough and flavorless and would have liked provolone instead of american cheese. Previous visit cocktails and appetizers...very good. And before that, burger night! We will definitely be back.

  • Mariah D.

Food was mediocre at best. Mushroom Cheese Steak was beyond cheesy (some like that) to a point of mush and mushrooms are from a can. Chipolte Chicken Sandwich should be called "Mayo Chicken Sandwich". Service was fine, servers were very cheerful with great smiles. Now match the food to the great service and you will have a great place! Good selection of beers, who doesn't like options!

  • Trish C.

Don't wait til the weekend to come and crawl over this space, we the precarious little divas dressed to impress no one in particular. Some interesting gimmicky flavors, a busy happy hour and decent specials will draw the after work crowd. Don't fall in-between the spaces at the bar as the regular one-night stands parade through pondering the new picks of the days. I see a walk of shame in your future! Accompanied by extra shots and frequent trips to the bathroom, you will pray to not find yourself under tables stuck with gum. On menu stick to what you know, understand what you are asking for and be prepared to be disappointed. Altogether it has it's perks, some tinier than others.

I've visited this place a handful of times. Usually during the day, on a week day. The service is usually pretty decent. I usually get a drink and some appetizers. BEEF NACHOS is where its at. They use black bean and the guac is great. Well I went recently on a Saturday, when this place turns in to a "night club" and well the service was horrible. I got a total of two drinks, the waitress was really inattentive to us. There was 6 of us total. two showed up a little later. The waitress came to out table and never even asked to get them a drink. I had to tell her they wanted to order drinks. The DJ playing was decent and other then the crummy waitresses who seemed to be drinking more then the customers I'd go back on a weekend again for the Nachos.

The perfect spot for music, sports, good food, good beer and good drinks. They make a perfect chicken sandwich and a righteous chipotle mayo. They could stand to extend their taps so they can offer more beer on tap - but that is about it! What they do offer is fine. Oh wait - mouthwash in the bathroom. Awesome!

You can rage here on a weekend night for sure. Drinks are decent, music will make you move, and the crowd is usually pretty lively on the weekend. D Street covers your weekend freak out session if that's what you like to do.

This place is awesome any time of the day! My sister lives right down the street from here so we frequent D Street almost every time I'm in the area. Absolutely love the mimosas and breakfast menu (the veggie omelets are to die for!). Happy Hour specials are too enticing to resist, especially because the drinks are still delish and portions are fair. Every time I've eaten here the food has been tasty and the service friendly and quick. The atmosphere is chill and casual, tv's everywhere, and lots of open seating. Definitely check this place out!

Nice relaxed environment. Bartender was super friendly and helpful. The food was great. Had the fish tacos initially, they were huge! They were also very tasty! Next up we had the Kobe sliders which were very good as well. I would def recommend this place to friends. Drink specials during happy hour are good. Nice strong drinks for a very reasonable price.

This is a fun place to come with a group of friends, especially if you wanna dance. The crowd can be different on any given night. Food is above average for your local neighborhood bar and service is friendly. There's a good happy hour and always a seemingly good time!

This place is pretty cool. I like the location in that it's easily accessible, especially if you take the coaster to downtown Encinitas. If you drive, there is a good amount of parking behind the bar. It's a perfect place to go for people who want to drink/watch sporting games, especially games that aren't being broadcasted on your home cable. The customer service is decent in the times I've been here. The atmosphere is a total sports bar. The food is ok, typical bar food. Definitely check this place out if you're looking for a bar to relax/drink/watch sports/or just catch up with friends.

Great restaurant! The food was fantastic and the service has improved so much since the last time we were there. We can't wait to go back! There are TV's all over the place and perfect for watching sports. They even had headsets for my kids to watch a cartoon. Very cool!

Cheers to D Street Bar & Grill! I was part of an awesome event at the location and their management and staff were WONDERFUL. Parking is a piece of cake, and the location is perfect - in downtown Encinitas. Drinks and grub are yummy, served by a great staff. I would recommend you stop by - and have a drink! CHEERS! :)

We highly recommend D Street for a great atmosphere, excellent service, and fun times!!!!!!

3 stars for the night scene. Its taken me awhile to become akin to the Encinitas downtown nightlife. I tend to find myself for at 1st Street due to the DJ. Location is ideal, and right next to Paloma theater. Once in awhile I hear them play hip hop, but it tends to get crowded where people are bumping your elbows. Service is okay- I do see some waiters profile which i wasn't too comfortable about, but we'll see. I hope that's not a common thing.

I came here on a Saturday night and it was a pretty cool venue. Surprisingly a lot of room inside and places to sit. The bartenders were nice and the drinks decent, nothing outstanding though. Surprisingly, the thing I liked most about D Street Bar & Grill was the music. For some reason, they played edited versions of all the songs, but they were playing a good mix of recent & old hip-hop. It's tough to find a place in San Diego that isn't always blaring techno or house mixes. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm in the area I definitely would.

The food, service and drinks are good but nothing is spectacular. Location is really good though, right in the middle of Encinitas and great for going before or after the theatre.

Came here for my friend's bday. My friends and I got here late, around 11PM. There was a line outside. Finally when we get in, we see that the place is super packed. My friends had the back area reserved (cave-like area). Glad she got that section reserved. Everyone who came out had a blast. We drank all types of drinks: AMFs, Jack & Coke, etc. The fun drink was the blow job. We posed with our drinks giving each other BJs and then drank em. It was all fun and games. But of course there wasa little drama. People tried coming up to our area and wanted to start a fight when they were asked to leave. Sheesh! And one girl threw a drink at the bday girl. WTF! If I was there I would've done something about it. Oh well, moving on... I liked everything about this place except that it was super hot inside.

We came upon this place by chance. Our kids were with us, so it was nice to find a "kid friendlier" place to eat. Most of the area is filled with bars. We happened to be there on a Monday night. They have Recession Mondays and all entrees are 1/2 off. This is a GREAT deal. There are very little restrictions. You can also do the Happy Hour at the same time and get 1/2 off bottles of wine. The server was great and the food was delicious. We will return the next time we are in Encinitas.

A great after work happy hour, and an alright spot to be on a Friday or Saturday night. Oh how I miss 50 cent wings on Wing Wednesdays. Wish I would have taken D Street with me when I moved :(

During the day, I really enjoy eating at this bar. The food is good, the staff is helpful and the atmosphere feels more like a sports bar than anything else. Once the weekend hits? Expect a transformation. This scene may be for some, but for me, it isn't. I haven't had a night yet in the 4 years that I have been dragged here on and off where there wasn't drama. (People being kicked out, people fighting, bartenders yelling) Music is a whole other ball of wax. I am a music fanatic and really appreciate being able to go to a bar and jam. I'm not sure where they get their music, but I always leave feeling confused about it and can't wait to go home. I'm all about positive energy! If you are too, check out some of the other super fun bars that are around the area.

Great place to take friends and hang out. DJ's play great music from EDM, HipHop, R&B. They have 2 full bars. Great staff. Don't be fooled by the calmness during the day time. It gets pretty crazy at night. The crowd is full of energy. If you're down to dance and drink without paying for a ridiculous cover charge this is the place to be. Get there by 10 pm to avoid the line to get in.

UPDATE: On Tuesday's they have $3 fish tacos (which I didn't try so I am unable to testify to their probable greatness) and $3 Pacifcos all night. I did just try the Wahoo sandwich though and it's fantastic! The fish is a huge 1"+ thick slab of meat and comes in plain, lemon butter, blackened, or teriyaki. I had lemon butter. Add the usual lettuce, tomato, etc. and some tartar sauce, so good! ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was just getting out of work, around 5:30 and looking for a sports bar near Carlsbad, showing playoff hockey, with a happy hour that went later than 6:00. Thanks to Yelp I found this place. Their happy hour goes 'til 7. $3 drafts and $2 off apps. Perfect! I was hoping to get a couple drinks and some cheap (ish) wings. Turns out it was Wing Wednesday and they have $0.50 wings all night! I ordered 5 each of 3 different flavors. BBQ, Hot and Honey, and Teriyaki. The Hot and Honey were good, but not hot. They should call these Mild and Honey, or just Honey. Don't get me wrong, they were still good, but I was hoping for more Hot. The teriyaki were also good, but teriyaki isn't normally something I go for so I don't have a lot of experience to compare these to, they were just pretty good. The BBQ were some of the best I've ever had! Hands down, just great wings! They also fry all their wings so they're nice and crispy. And they come with celery, which it seems like most places lately have forgotten about. The blue cheese could be a lot better, it was pretty thin, but it was good enough. I sat at the bar so I didn't deal with the servers at all but the bartender was a nice guy and did a really good job informing me of specials and all that. The beer selection isn't that great, but it's good enough. Couple light beers, hefs, IPA's, the usual. The Happy Hour beers that night were Coors Light (boooo) Pacifico, which I stuck with, and Blue Moon. It was nice not having to just drink the cheapest beer they offer. They also have a full bar, but I didn't take advantage of that this time. They ambiance of the place is nice too. It's clean and looks nice and they have plenty of TVs. I'm definitely going to have to come back here and try more of the menu but so far I am very impressed with this bar.

Place has a great energy to it. DJ at nights during the weekend. Food is nothing great, but no terrible. It's what you would expect at a bar/restaurant. Service is not their strong suit. Expect a lot of young women who think smiling is a service just because other young men think they are attractive. When I spend $ I want my $ worth. Not a waitress who thinks she is entitled to a big tip because others might find her attractive.

One of the nicer bars in Encinitas and one of the few that has a decent dance floor. It usually house an eclectic crowd from fresh on the scene 21-year-olds to your 50+ year-old couples looking to relive the glory days. so great place to come for drinks and dancing but it does get pretty crowded come late night and can be a bit much. But they have three bars so easy to get drinks and a little upstairs lounge area which is a bit calmer but very small. definitely a staple of the Encinitas bar scene

cool spot to have a drink! prices are on the monitors and easy to see. Service was personable and excellent. I was here with a group of 9 and it was not an issue as we occupied 2 tables in the back wall near the DJ. We stayed til closing on a saturday night and it was packed! great DJ and dancing atmosphere was good! My group had a great time and met some good people! Good little spot in Encinitas!

I ran into this place while trying to find some place suitable for dinner and brew, I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is good, kinda modern pub feel meets sports bar and the wait staff is also fine. Dinner started with a pint of Primo, Mozzarella sticks, Cajun Fries, and an ambiance lively enough to feel fun but not overly so - conversing with your party won't be too hard. For dinner I was feeling lazy and ordered a bacon burger, it was good, kind of a sweetish patty perhaps molasses or something. All in all a solid bet for someone looking to grab a bite and pint in encinitas. There, sadly, aren't a myriad of options in the area like you'd find in other niche places like northpark or downtown, and for that reason D Street Bar & Grill stands out as a solid choice, it'd probably be easily forgotten where it not the only game in a reasonable area.

This is a pretty decent place, but it seems like it is waiting for something big to happen to itself. It is a space and menu and bar at a crossroads. Nothing bad, nothing great, and overall just a not so bad or great place to get a beer, some food, some conversation, etc ... Happy Hour prices are pretty OK, and Monday's can be a steal of a deal on some food items ... so check that out if you can swing it.

I'm writing this review based on visiting for lunch, not in the evening to get drunk and party. Have eaten here on many occasions in the last 5 years. On every visit the service has been exemplary, quality of food simply outstanding, and surprising value for money. It's a good menu of burgers and salads but everything is obviously fresh. Weekday's they have lunchtime specials. Yesterday it was $2 fish taco's and $3 import beers. It's nice and quiet at lunchtime too. They have a ton of big screen TV's and supply headphones for kids if needed. Try it, you'll like it!!!

Good bartenders. Great prices. Nice people watching. Went on a first date here about two years ago. Still with her. Had a blast if you get that lull in conversation you just look around and find someone ehm I mean something to talk about. If you know what I mean.. wink wink. I like to go here in the early afternoon in the evening it gets way too crowded.

D street is an alright place to watch a sports game/surf video and have some mediocre to pretty good bar food with a medium to overpriced drink. Their recession special on Monday nights (1/2 price entrees and bottles of wine) is a pretty sweet deal, and the pizza I had last night was good. Not great, but not bad. My friend loves their Cajun Penne pasta although says it is different every single time she orders it. I think everyone else said their meal was alright. The waitress, Melissa, was great. I would not set foot inside this place on a Friday or Saturday night for any less than $500 PLUS free drinks and food all night. Every time I've been here on a weekend night, I was surrounded by shiny stupid looking girls and equally dumb looking, drenched in cologne college boys who are obviously just looking to get laid. Also, there was one mishap we had where our table was taken away from us at 10pm, even though we were not eating, and the waitress somehow misplaced our credit cards during the process. After fighting with several staff members about it, we left with no credit cards. We called back the next day, and somehow they turned up. Each with a charge for $300+ in drinks billed to the cards around 130am, long after we had left. Pretty awesome, huh? And no, they did not offer to compensate us or make up for it in any way. I boycotted the place until yesterday as a result. The recession special sucked me in. Anyway. So my final answer is...cash in on the good deals on Monday nights, or the many TVs to watch sports. Leave your high expectations at home, and bring cash.

This place is pretty great if you're looking for a fun place to go to for a night out in North County. If you come in the early evening, the setting is perfect for a chill hangout to each and drink with friends. When it gets to be later in the night, I was surprised to see this bar turn into a fun lively place with a DJ, larger crowd, and dancing. Definitely the most happening spot north of PB.

My husband and I came here with a friend for dinner (6:30pm) for our first visit to Encinitas since recently moving to San Diego and we were not disappointed. Even during dinner rush we got a table quickly, the service was quick, the waitress was knowledgable about their menu, and the music wasn't unbearably loud so you could hold a conversation without yelling. The food was much better than expected. The vegetables on the side were fresh, the salad had these chip things on them that added a nice crunch and flavor to the salad. I got the Wahoo with lemon butter dinner. The Wahoo was slightly dry, however, not to the point where it wasn't really tasty. I squirted lemon on it (like I do with most white fish) and it was delicious. Their D Street lemonade - so good, only bad part is it was so tasty I guzzled it down quickly. My husband got the Wahoo tacos and was very pleased. Their chips and salsa are great, everyone at our table was very pleased with their meal. Only thing I didn't like was how dark it was in there. However, it fit the atmosphere and didn't bother me enough to not be a return customer. Parking is a little difficult, too. Prepare to possibly drive around for a few minutes or be patient and wait for someone to leave and open up a spot. Definitely a must visit while you're in Encinitas, will definitely go back!

I'm not sure how I feel about D Street. I was there when it was Martini Ranch. I was there when it was Millenium. I was there when it was called something else before that - the name escapes me. Maybe it's the changing identities that confuzzle me? It is the most yuppie of all the places in Encinitas, but sometimes I feel the vibe isn't right. It's not enough to deter me from not going because I do go back and manage to have a good time. When it first opened, I ordered a steak spinach salad. Yea, they were new. How did I know? The steak was rubbery. Eck. Then again, it's near home and it's within walking distance of work, so I can't complain. Drinks are decently priced too. So this place works. I'm glad it's here because it does give you a choice of places to go when you're with friends. There, now I know how I feel.

Pretty good food, nice atmosphere, decent service, and nice selection of foods and drinks. Place is pretty much a full restaurant during the day, and at night transforms into a cool bar with a dance floor and live DJ's and music. Can get quite crowded on the weekends, but the wait isn't too bad. Worth a visit for the wings alone, my fav.

Not worth the drive to Encinitas, but if you're in the area, it would be an okay place to eat. Went for Taco Thursday--$2 fish tacos, $3 margaritas, and $2 off appetizers (which is their daily happy hour special). The fish tacos were nothing special...the fish was flavorless, but the chipotle mayo was tasty. Also got the chips and salsa, and the chips were...weird. Too thick. The margarita was too strong...and not in a good way. So, I'm not terribly inclined to go back. I might return to try something else if I'm in Encinitas again, but I'll probably find another place to eat.

I really like this restaurant/Bar. The atmosphere is as fun during the day as it is at night. During the day its best to go on game days because they have TV's everywhere and great specials. At night, they have fun music and even though the dance floor is a bit small, its still fun! It can get a bit crowded though, but its not too bad and drinks are affordable!

I love this bar.. but I really wished they had pool tables =o) bartenders are awesome and it was really fantastic.. need I say more? Okay so I came back again after the first time (Soccer World Cup) where I drank too much too early and couldn't remember what I had... Anyhow this time I had the Steak Hoagie with cheese and a side of jalapeno .. it was scrumptious.. would definitely recommend!

I usually come here on Sundays or Mondays to watch football. It can get busy sometimes so as long as you get there a little before the games start (or as long as the Chargers have a bye week), you can find a table pretty easily. Mondays are cool because they call it recession Mondays so their dinner entrees (excluding pizza and appetizers) are half off. Their cheesesteak sandwiches are AMAZING and taste even better when I pay 4 bucks on recession Monday lol. The pizza they serve is pretty big and enough for about 3-4 people. I believe its 12 bucks for a pizza so its a good deal. The one downside is that sometimes the servers take a while to get back to your table, unless there's NOBODY there. I haven't had too bad of an experience, though so its not bad.

I went to this place on a Sunday night, so the review is mostly based on the food, not the nightlife. Food wise this place definitely deserves better than its three-star rating. We had the Caprese Salad, Chicken Tortilla Soup, and BLTTA sandwich. The caprese salad was gourmet looking and had a whole marinated portabello mushroom on it. The only minor complaint was the strength of the balsamic vinegar. The tortilla soup was very flavorful and the sandwich had bacon, lettuce, tomato, turkey and avocado on it. How can you go wrong with that combo? We also got a free piece of pizza which ensured a 5-star rating. The prices are about right for the location close to the beach in the heart of Encinitas. It also has a nice selection of beers on tap and many TVs which would make it a great place for sports or nightlife action. It is definitely better than average bar food and worth a shot!

I'm giving 5 starts for their happy hour and their "Recession Mondays." On Monday almost 100% of their menu is 50% off, including their very yummy mahi mahi tacos. They have very good food for a bar, as far as I am concerned. I like their chips and salsa and guacamole, all very fresh and delicious. It is super affordable and very low priced for it's location - right in the heart of downtown Encinitas, which I am sure is a very "high-rent" district. It is very clean in there as well, which is always a plus. Just went there last Monday for happy hour with the girls. We all ordered a dinner, appetizers, a couple drinks, and it was well under $20 a person with tax & tip. We were going all out ordering because the prices were so low. We could have left there stuffed for less than $10. But, we were there for several hours. The other ladies loved the mahi mahi tacos as well. Go and enjoy!

Taco Tuesdays is where it's at. They are $2 Tacos and usually $Primo draft. Great deal as the tacos are really tasty with the spicy chipotle mayo..YUM!! I've been on Friday/Saturday too and it's pretty busy! The owner sometimes tends bar on the upstairs lounge and is really chill. One caveat : when my brother and I went here once one of the bartenders added more to his tip than my brother gave him, so he wont go anymore...I however, pay cash so I don't have that problem! I find the service pretty good, I actually liked the bartender so I'm not sure what the issue is...won't stop me from going!

I've been coming here for two years so I think I know the upside and downside of D Street. Good food, great place to watch the Bolts. Service is good at the bar, not great at the tables or booths. That said, I was floored by my experience last night. I walked in about 9p just looking for a beer, burger and catch up on the late baseball games. It was busy but not crazy. I was alone. No seats at the bar so I took one at the counter close to the hostess station at her suggestion. I waited 15 minutes without getting a waitress. The hostess asked if I'd been helped. When I let her know I had not, she immediately tracked down a waitress and let her know. I then waited ANOTHER 15 minutes and still no waitress. As a result, D Street will not be on my list of places to go this football season. There are a lot of options in Encinitas.

Friendly folks, decent atmosphere from what I saw. I dropped in to pick up some to-go for a work event. Their wing sauce is delish, tried the stoked, was very OMG MY TONGUE. They were super friendly, but I was charged for an item I didn't receive which kinda sucked. I'll give 'em another chance sometime.

The food here is decent - nothing spectacular, but hey, its a bar and grill. They have passable fish tacos and the kobe sliders were pretty solid, but overall, there is nothing food-wise to distinguish this place from basically every other slightly upscale bar and grill type place in North County. The place does have a good vibe, plenty of sports-watching going on, and a pretty decent selection of beer and other drinks keeps everyone reasonably happy. If I lived in the area, could be a good place to grab a bite on a lazy afternoon, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stop there. Although, randomly, I have. I've been there about 3 times in the past 2 weeks, so maybe its more appealing than I'm giving it credit for. Either that or I just keep going to the same places....

We don't do sports bars like this.. it's just not our style - But the CLAM CHOWDER here is THE BEST! And we find ourselves ordering it TO GO, time and time again. It's a little pricey - $9 bucks for a bread bowl and chowder - But it fills you up and taste "OH SO" good. The fish is fresh and clams perfect. Not to chewy - Just right and stacked with potatos and veggies. Yummer-doozie on a cold winter day! The service is awesome too. Considering we only come here for "take-out", we don't expect a bunch of attention. But at D Street all the employees are great. Even the bartender who handles the take-out service is super cool and always makes sure our order is bagged up correct. Last night he even ran back to the kitchen to grab a sample of the tortilla soup, just so I could taste it. Hows that for service. Right on guy! If you've ever got an itch for tastey Clam Chowder - Definitely hit up D Street Bar and Grill. It's the best in Encinitas without a doubt.

I would come here again, the bartenders are such gentlemen that get to know you through the night. It does get a little packed and sometimes, well usually every time I have gone there the drunkies always manage to drop ice and their drinks on the dance floor, try not to wear high heels or you will fall :) good nights with great company, can't really complain.

Solid bar food with a great environment. Not haute cuisine, but really good bar food, great sports on TV and some wonderful scenery. If you're looking for a sports bar scene by the beach, this is it in Encinitas. Recommend.

Monday nights have a pretty decent happy hour (half price entrees and half price bottles of wine), and they have some tasty (not amazing) sandwiches. The environment is cool... tons of open space and more than one bar, which is essential because the place gets packed, especially during football season. Not great, not bad... just your average bar and grill.

This is not a place to eat food. This may be a place to get drinks, I don't know. But after tonight, I can guarantee you this is not a place to eat food. The water tasted like dishwasher and chlorine. The chicken nuggets were dry and lacked flavor. How is it possible to mess up chicken nuggets? My sandwich made me sad. It was supposed to be steak and 'wiz cheese' (I'm assuming this means cheez wiz) on a wedge loaf. But it wasn't. It wasn't this at all. It was some sad imitation of a steak sandwich, consisting of dry meat and a gag-me cheese sauce. How do you mess up cheez wiz? How is this all possible? Overpriced and unnaturally bad, D Street is in a league of its own.

I give this place 4 stars based on the fact that I really enjoy their Wicked Philly Chicken sandwich. It's good. Although, I do not recommend this place to visit at night. It's a little douchey with all the out of towners. Not sure if he's there anymore, but the giant Samoan bouncer, "Tuna," is the man!

good club music. there is a dance floor the size of a living room here, and usually the hammered and old people doing the most dancing. the small space causes the dance floor to reek of awful body odor. perhaps some customers' lack of deodorant use contributes to this. the bar is always busy but the staff is quick and friendly.

Went here with the family a couple times. The food is delicious. Had chili in a sourdough bowl the first warm and spicy, just the way it should be. Jalapeño Jack burger the next time which was good smothered in monterey jack cheese and sliced jalapeños, could have used some sort of sauce. But I dipped it in ketchup and it was good. The atmosphere is sports bar meets family dining. TV's everywhere with different sports on them. A bar with stools, Tall bar tables, and a few booths that can sit 6 people and two tables that could sit 10-12. Service is good, quick, friendly. All in all great place.

After the sun goes down, D Street in Encinitas is Cougar Central...and I'm not talking about Washington State University fans, ifyouknowwhutimean... I've always heard of cougars, but I've never actually seen one in her natural habitat. D Street is one of the few places that allow you to view a cougar in their organic surroundings, they offer food, beer and fine spirits to make your cougar sighting more enjoyable and educational. The only thing that is missing is the interpretive galleries and individual species signs. I recommend that they fix this oversight as quickly as possible. Here are some things to look for if you go: COUGAR HABITAT: Cougars typically come out at dusk or hunt at night, they are nocturnal creatures. The cougar looks for the darkened bar with many television screens that cast a favorable light on her wrinkles. Many people report that techno, hip-hop or R&B beats accompany cougar sightings in their area. That was definitely the case here. A distribution map of the cougar would show large pockets of the animal in Southern California, but they can be found all over the country, especially in major cities. A cougar's home range size may be from 13 - 62 square kilometers, depending on the abundance of food, alcohol, dance clubs, and the individual's reproductive condition. COUGAR SOCIAL ORGANIZATION: Cougars are solitary, except during breeding season where they will often be found with two or three other cougars traveling in packs. One can tell that it is breeding season by the blatant display of mammaries in a low cut shirt or the tightness of the cougar's jeans. One can often see the top of the thong panties sticking up over the waistline of her jeans. Males that come into contact with the cougar at these 'breeding times' run the risk of being 'devoured.' The typical cougar's loudest vocalization can be heard during these 'breeding times' and often one can overhear the cougar saying, 'I'm so horny!' or breaking into uncontrollable fits of laughter with her cougar friends. Those vocalizations are often accompanied by a flushing of the face and neck areas as well as a strong smell of musk. COUGAR BEHAVIOR: Cougars are often aggressive within their natural habitat. If another cougar is winning the affections of the target male, a particularly aggressive cougar will resort to slapping, pinching, scratching or spilling a drink on her competition. Insults about weight or relative ugliness are a characteristic reaction to any encroachment by other cougars on a breedable male. Males that go back to the cougar's den at the end of the evening or early morning hours risk bodily injury and possibly death. COUGAR SAFETY TIPS: You will read in many places on the InterWebs that making yourself appear larger than you really are is the best way to scare off a cougar. In the case of this species of cougar however, that could lead to more of an attachment and is to be avoided at all costs. Don't run from a cougar! Cougars are a powerful predator. Running may trigger an attack. Back away slowly, offer the cougar a compliment on her hair, her eyes or how thin she looks. This tends to defuse the situation and allow you time to plan your escape. Follow these simple rules while visiting D Street on a weekend evening and your cougar sighting experience will be both more educational and more enjoyable. Happy hunting!

Gross, sweaty, skanky.... that was my night at D Street Bar and Grill. I was not there for the food but rather just drinks on a Saturday night with some friends. Arrived around 10 to see the bouncers remove the tables and chairs and the DJ was getting set up. Ordered a drink and all I could taste was water from the melted ice. I am not sure if the drink even had vodka and was damn sure there was not an ounce of red bull. If you prefer watered down drinks hit this place up. My friends and I were lucky we were able to grab a booth before it got too crowded so at least we had a place to hand out - that was until same drugged out chick decided she needed to continue hallucinating at our table. Seriously, wearing sunglasses in a club - your future ain't that bright darlin... The place got crowded quickly! Most of the girls were wearing their best Wet Seal Dresses and heels or flip flops. The guys loved their Express popped collar shirts and baseball hats. I really did not see too many cougars although there were a few of them on the prowl. The more crowded it got the heat intensified. Seriously, why the sauna? Is there really a need to get it so hot in there? Maybe they are cutting back on the AC with the economy and all - disgusting. You will need to go home and take a shower after being there for 20 minutes. Don't expect much from the DJ. He tried to blame his poor mixing skills and serious gaps in music to people bumping his table. The thing is, he is on a stage and while people are close to him - bouncers were all around and no one was bumping him. He was so bad that at one point the crowd thought it was last call because the music stopped completely - that was until we realized it was only 12:45. They do last call early by the way. The sheriffs come in at 1am - check out the crowd and then the lights go on. While you can get one more drink, music stops, and all you hear is the DJ on the mike telling you to hurry your ass out of the place. If you go - stay closer to the door so you can at least have fresh air....

D Street Bar & Grill is a great place to go on a Saturday night or for gameday. The food and atmosphere is great and the staff are all friendly and I have never been annoyed or pissed off at the service. This place used to be a dump (Martini Ranch): beat cougars ran rampid with crappy Country music and washed up surfers being regular patrons. Thankfully, since then the place has changed into D Street and now is the best place in Encinitas for dancing and great night life. For some reason I always have a good time here... it's probably due to the fact that I always go pretty tipsy and leave wasted. But it's more than that. The music is always good and the DJs are great because they never play the same boring shiz. The ladies never seem too stuck up to dance and generally range from good-looking to hot (some beat ones roam around and some knockouts can be found). Best part about this place is the lack of toolbags. The guys are chill and not all gaytown like Del Mar Jimmy O's clientelle. Even the black dudes are laid back (not a racist comment so don't even go there). Food is average to good, I'm not going to be the first to rate that but it's alright. Not anything to write home about but I hardly go here during the day. Overall, this place is the best place to go for a good time on the weekend and enjoy dancing, hot ladies, good drinks and service.

This place really wants to be a great meeting place, but has lost some of its luster over the years. The service is good, the food is okay, and the decor and atmosphere are great for 20 somethings. It can be fun with a group of people and has an excellent location on the 101.

Good solid bar & grill. Been here twice and food has always been good as well as the service. Good place to watch the game on TV, have lunch with a friend, or casual dinner.

We came here to see the Clippers game on Saturday night after we tried our usual sports bar (Stadium) and found it dismayingly full. D Street had some empty tables, so we went on in. We were greeted immediately, shown to a table, and one of the TVs was then turned to the Clippers game for us. I ordered a mushroom and swiss burger - so. freaking. tasty. Seriously, it was awesome, as were the fries that came with it. The service was great - our server was Kiera, and she was wonderful. The only drawback to eating and watching the game here were the drunk people. Drunk people everywhere. But again, it was a Saturday night - probably can't be helped.

Just Bar hopping found this place, yeah a bunch of random age groups in one.. .? Okay so it was supposedly 80's themed night ( yeah I didn't get the memo) so my friends and I went into this place and were kind of thrown back, however we did dance like fools and make utter idiots of ourselves..= GOOD TIMES! The bartenders here are really cool, the patrons... hmmm Most people don't really talk to strangers just the ones they came with so it was cool just keep to yourself so they won't bother you... This place was alright not the best to hang out at but I think I would probably be back again

Good drinks and good bartenders. Saturday night crowd is young and when I say young I mean just turned 21. I wouldn't go as far as saying that there's a good mix in here. They are young and they will bump you if you're standing by the bar. So don't be afraid to throw some 'bows if you want to maintain your circle of personal space. There's a DJ "spinning" on Sat nights too. I use the term "spinning" loosely because he's using Serrato or some derivative of it and not two Technics and crates of wax. It gets loud in there too, so if you're trying to have a conversation, brush up on your ASL, or keep a mint in your mouth because you'll be doing a lot of yelling, or don't have one. NO COVER! Restroom is nice...

As bars go this is a pretty typical place. The atmosphere is nice and the service was awesome! Had the margarita pizza. There was no basil on it as I am used to but it was very tasty and we asked for fresh basil and they brought some right out.. I tasted my wife's drink (the D-street lemonade) It was pretty good. My friends ordered the chicken nachos and it looked awesome. They said it was pretty tasty but they did not share.....lol Overall great place but it gets pretty packed. we will go back.

I came here with my mom sometime last week as she likes going to the Zen garden (?) in town. We decided to stop in since I heard decent things about the food here. We parked right in front of the restaurant easily. The time I believe was around noon, mid week, and only a few tables occupied the establishment. The menu is what you'd expect from a Bar/Grill. I didn't see anything that was too unusual. Our server greeted us in a timely manner, brought out our drinks quick and our food came out fairly quick too. I ordered one of the Cheese steak sandwich's and my Mom ordered one of the burgers. Both were great and the fries are good, a bit different like they were extra crispy kinda like curly fries... I'll be back in the future except this time at night and for drinks.... No complaints from me :)

Dive bar meets club. Interesting mix when it comes to attire but most people dress casually. I've only been here on Friday nights so it's always crowded. They play lame top 40s music that teenagers dry hump to but when you get some drinks in you it makes for a good night. There are booths and small tables all over the place so you can sit down and relax or strike up convos with strangers relatively easily. I love that parking is so easy to find (in Encinitas in general maybe?) There are also so other great dive bars nearby. Not walking distance but a short drive. No cover :)

Pros: Recession Mondays with half price entrées and bottles of wine. Wicked chicken cheesesteak with "stoked" sauce and the best french fries in Encinitas.. Super clean bathrooms with Listerine dispensers fo yo stinky mouf. Cons: Aloof waitresses who often talk to their coworkers more than serve their tables. Beer selection leaves must to be desired. Sub-par overly breaded chicken wings. Full review: Happily situated next door to the historic La Paloma theatre in downtown Encinitas, D-Street bar & Grill offers up tasty-but-inexpensive cuisine in a comfortable beach town atmosphere. The delightfully pleasant and pretty female hostesses greet you with sincere smiles and will often get you a table right away, though there can be a short wait if you arrive after 6:30pm. Inside the decor is reminiscent of an old Chicago-style brewery, only with surfing videos featured on several of the televisions. There are 2 bars, the smaller of them only open during the busy hours. Sitting at the bar all-but-guarantees fantastic and prompt service, while sitting at a table is a 50/50 gamble. The waitresses here are really the reason this place doesn't get 5 stars. I've discovered that the quality of the service here is directly proportional to the attractiveness of the server. The prettier the girl, the more likely she will neglect to refill your long-dry pint glass while instead preoccupied in a lofty conversation with her coworker about "this creepy guy who hit on her last night", or while endlessly flirting with the table of 2 guys dressed in skin-tight affliction shirts and over-sized ball caps pulled down over their ears and eyebrows. On a few occasions, I've had their hard-working food runners or friendly plain-clothesed manager apologize or comp part of our meal because of this somewhat frequent issue. Get passed the often useless waitresses and this place is actually quite splendid. Not many places offer half-off deals on seared ahi plates, New York strip steaks, and a variety of tasty wine bottles. A reliable favorite dish is the "Wicked Chicken Cheesesteak", best ordered with the "Stoked" buffalo sauce and irresistible restaurant-style ranch. The dish comes with hefty share of seasoned batter fries, and all for just an Abraham Lincoln on a Monday night. Late night the place fills up with mostly twenty-somethings and the music volume is cranked up a notch, though not so loud that hand signals are necessary for communication (see my Union Kitchen & Tap review). Don't let the 6 gruffish red-shirted bouncers at the door scare you away, as the vibe within remains somewhat mellow and I'd definitely recommend it for groups of 2-6 people looking to share a few rounds and some munchies. Drinks are priced middle-of-the-road, cocktails are a tad light on alcohol, and the beer selection is quite ho-hum. If you're looking to get a buzz on a light wallet, maybe stop by Capt'n Keno's up the road for some pre-gaming. All considered however, I put D-Street on the upper quality tier of Encinitas's highway 101 strip of bars and restaurants.

All in all, the energy level on Saturday night was great. Men, this place is far from a "sausage party." You may be asking why a woman just said that but I speak for a few females that enjoy not beimg overwhelmed by men that just want to hold up the wall at a dance club or pose with a pack of their douche friends. I must admit I did feel a little old as thirty-something because the crowd seemed rather collegiate in age. D Street is close to the pad, plays palatable music, and serves average-priced drinks. I am sure we will find ourselves there again.

Loved everything about it! The owners were very warm and welcoming. The staff friendly and efficient. Great menu. Great food. (Incredible Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich.) Great selection of beers and good solid cocktails! We live in OC and go to San Diego often; this will definitely be a regular stop on the way up and back home. We only wish we lived closer!

I've been here a few times late at night, and once during the day. It's kind of an average sports bar. I watched a basketball game here during the day, and it was a fun experience. They have a decent variety of beer. I had a Union Jack IPA and a Fat Tire. They also had some varieties of Stone on tap.

Was bored and looking for a cool place to dance and have a drink. At 9:30 on a Saturday night this seemed to be the place with the most people. Bartenders were great! I was at the bar only a few seconds before my order was taken and I had a drink. No complaints there. Limited number of tables, placed very close together. Get a booth if you can. Dance floor is rather small, probably because this is more of a bar scene than a dance club, but any savvy dancer can make enough room to get there groove on. The DJ when I was there was okay but played alot or mixed versions of stuff that didn't quite sound right, and at about 11:00pm he started playing rave music and rave versions of songs...that's when I left. Overall the place was good enough...defiantly not great. I'd go there again but probably only if someone else in the group really wanted to go.

I like D Street. It's solid. Always the first stop when my roomie and I are on the prowl in Encinitas. Watch Out!!! The drinks are gooo-oood. The bartenders, Kenny and Kelly, are super cute--I mean cool. Yeah, they're cool. And the cajun fries are bomb. The crowd is yuppyish, and that can be kinda fun sometimes too. But I think the best part of D street is still the bar...tenders. The bar. Yeah, the drinks...at the bar. I love those drinks.

  • Rich F.

Great place in the area. The crowd has everyone. Girls looking like they are going to Vegas, to guys just getting off the beach. Keeping the tables on the floor make it more crowded than it needs to be. Bartenders are good, typical prices for the area. Just move the tables off the floor.......give everyone more room!!!!

  • Cole C.

The slow as molasses service here is a total buzz-kill. The only time service is ever fast at D Street is when you walk up to the bar and order yourself. If that mahi-mahi sandwich wasn't so damn good, I'd probably never be back.

  • Dale E.

So... you know when a place is nothing special but has nothing wrong with it? Yeah. Food is decent but not to die for by any stretch. Recession Mondays are a good deal and definitely the night to give them a try. Meat Market Fridays and Saturdays will remind you of being 21 and hanging out in PB. I mean, if you were once 21 and used to hang out in PB trying to get all the STDs.

Service: Sloooooow, but friendly. At least if you have to wait forever for your food to arrive, you get a smile from the wait staff walking by. Atmosphere: Great! It's located right on Hwy 101 so it's fun to people watch night or day. Food: Ugh. Not good at all. The steak nachos look great when the people next to you are eating it....but they taste like cardboard covered in flavorless beef, canned beans & olives. The blackened mahi-mahi sandwich is bland & boring. The D Street lemonade was a $7 glass of alcohol flavored water. What was good? The deep fried mozzarella sticks....can you ever go wrong with deep fried cheese? Price: Way too high for the quality food you get...maybe that's why Recession Monday seems to be so popular with other reviewers? My opinion is to not waste your money here....I'm sure there are other places around that will be better.

Does this bartender have a crush on me or something? Bc We HAVE BEEN HOOKED UP. tacos- bomb. Drinks-bomb. 50 thousand tv with surf & horse races. Shutthefrontdoor. Anyone who follows me knows I like good service, good food, no fluff. Done and done. .Xoxo new regular. Rawrrrrrrr (Update, because I was apparently hammered when I wrote my last review) I really do like this place. As you can see from my previous review- I tend to have a very good time here haha! The food and drinks are great, especially for the price. I love the salads (a surprise- considering I would think this is more of a burger/pizza place.) But no, salads are SUPER fresh and interesting. I have the caprese salad, add shrimp. Lots of mozzarella and it was more of a "Salad-salad" as they serve it on a big bed of lettuce and add marinated portabellas. They have this new thing - "The Drink Exchange" which is new since the last time I was there. The drink prices fluctuate according the the amounts sold - like the Stock Market. Pretty cool :) *Also, we went on a Thursday, and there was some chill live music. bonus!

I would definitely go back here. There was a fun, energetic vibe, great service, and tasty food. The market price drink list is a cool concept and added some entertainment as my girlfriend and I loved seeing our drink prices fall so that we could buy a what we wanted at a discount. Or waitress was super attentive and never left us wanting anything. I'm new to San Diego and I'm glad I found this place!!

Me and my friend came here for her 21st birthday; great place to start your night. They have awesome appetizers that are decently priced, tasty drinks, and music. When my friend was in the bathroom, I asked our server to get her a free shot for her birthday, and she did! Free kamikazi (sp?)! Awesome. For appetizers, we got: -The calamari- yum! -Spinach dip with chips-SO GOOD. -Mozzarella sticks-standard. Drinks: -The D Street lemonade, very tasty, hardly tastes like alcohol. Awesome if you're a wuss like me. -Blueberry lemon drop-Kind of gross, don't get it. It's super sickly sweet. Music is loud and it's very trendy, and many a douche bag swing by, but that's the only draw back. Oh, and drinks and semi expensive, but it's a really nice bar.

Fun bar to come have a drink or two with friends on weekends, as there is a dance floor on the bottom floor and a quieter, more secluded bar upstairs (that does lack in alcoholic selection from the bar downstairs but as it is smaller, that is to be expected. I removed a star from that, as well as a star for their 1am closing time on a Friday night. Not sure how that happened, but up until they closed, I was having a great time.

I went to D Street Bar and Grill for Thursday Night football. This is the perfect place to watch football. There are so many TV's. There wings and nachos are very good. The boneless buffalo wings were the bomb. After the football game the had a trivia contest too. I highly recommend D Street for football watching and there Thursday night trivia night is a lot of fun too.

Great place to grab a beer while watching a game. Friendly bartenders and enough TV's for you to sit anywhere. They also have a good selection of beers and, at times, have some really good beer deals. This is a good pit stop if waiting for the Coaster or Amtrak. I hear it gets CRAZY on Friday nights.

I never really write reviews on yelp, I mostly use this app to find good dinner spots. But I will definitely go out of my way to give this place five stars! The first time we came here was when my husband and I moved our daughter in for college. We looked up a few restaurants in the area and this seemed like a good local location. We couldn't have chosen a better place! Cinita was our waitress and was absolutely fantastic! Such a sweetheart who was kind, friendly, and very efficient. I had a hard time believing she was training! The place was really really packed because people were playing trivia but the service was still fantastic. We love the place so much that we made sure we went back again before we left and that was an excellent idea. We went back on wing Wednesday where they have 50 Cent wings. It was quite a delicious and cheap meal! But the even better part was that we had Cinita as our server again and we were thrilled to find out she was no longer training. Excellent service the whole night. This place left such a great impression that we made sure to go again tonight. My husband and I came down Sunday for the Labor Day weekend to see our daughter and we definitely had to stop in to our favorite D St. restaurant. Because who in their right mind would turn down 50 Cent wings?! (Hot and honey is the best)And once again, the best part of this whole experience was that we had our first and only waitress ever at this restaurant. Cinita! She remembered all of our names as well as our usual drinks that we order. We saw her working hard The whole time we were there. She seemed to have nearly every table in the joint yet she still managed to provide us the best service we could possibly ever ask for. If you ever want A great dining experience make sure you head into this place! They all seem to work well as a team and the managers have a great taste in the waitresses they hire. Make sure you ask for Cinita! You can't miss her she has the biggest smile that just lights up the place :) we are so glad to have found this restaurant. This will always be our regular go-to spot whenever we visit San Diego. We love it! Keep doing what you do D street! Wish we could give more stars!

D street is a great place to kick back and grab some cold ones. This place actually gets pretty dang crowded on Friday and Saturday nights but regardless of the night or crowds a good time can be had at this joint. This place actually has some pretty good bar food, a great beer selection and some decent cocktails. Pair the good selection with some above average service and you have yourself a 3.5-4 star establishment. Pros- Location Selection Menu Happy hour Plentiful seating Prices Cons- Parking Crowds on weekend Service somewhat slow

Came in for a quick lunch on a Monday and was greeted promptly and served accordingly. We tried the Veggie sandwich add bacon and it was delicious. Fries were also great. I usually go in the evenings for cocktails, but also heard the tacos were insane so definitely come check them out for Taco Tuesday. TVs are going so this place is great for Sporting Events. The crowd turns super young late night weekends, but the DJs I have seen have been great like DJ Engage and Will Hernandez. D Street was the old Martini Ranch over 10 years ago for those of you who haven't been around for a while. Spoke with the owner too and he seemed really cool and down to earth. I'll be back soon to try some more food and hopefully a margarita this time.

For what this place is trying to accomplish, they get five stars from me. I have been here a bunch of times. lots of televisions, so your game can always be put on. We get groups of people together here for Kings Hockey games on occasion and they are great with our large groups. The food is better than any nearby bar, and for a non-drinker, that is a big bonus! It is lively and fun inside, the service is good and the staff is nice. No complaints here!

I can now confidently review d street as I've been there as a drinker and now a diner(and a drinker too). Normally, I come here on Friday or Saturday nights with some friends. It's always a good time, usually the last place we stop after our "Encinitas crawl" because it has the best DJ of all the bars on the highway and the vibe is a lot more casual then Shelter or The Saloon. The bouncers all always the same, funny guys never had an issue with them. The managers at night are always awesome. In fact, a few weeks ago some tool douche knocked my boyfriends drink out of his hand the second he walked away from the bar with it and the manager and bouncer saw it all happen and they told the bartender to give us both free drinks...we ended up getting 4 drinks on the house, super awesome. I HIGHLY recommend the crispy chicken sandwich I got tonight if you're coming in here to eat. Really delicious and they did not skimp on the fries, the chicken was surprisingly actually crispy which is rare to find. Our server was ok...not as outgoing as the bartenders are. Margaritas were only $3 tonight! (Tuesday-also $2 tacos and some light beers on special as well). Overall I enjoy D Street more often than not and look forward to more long nights spent here.

Ah I is great. The food tastes fresh and delicious for a very good price. They have a full bar with some pretty good happy hour specials. They have great french fries and the ahi was absolutely delicious. I am usually pretty picky about the service but here the service was good all the way around . I would go back again.

We had happy hour that turned into dinner at D Street. Good food selection lots of choices both as appetizers and entrees. Pretty good craft beer selection, lots of TV's and great seating for larger groups. Service was good and food was good. We will be back...

What a great bar! Came here Friday night with a few friends because I was visiting for the weekend and had a great time. The drinks were averagely priced and the music was pretty alright. The staff was very friendly and there were plenty of places to sit and dance. There are 3 bars, 2 downstairs and 1 upstairs. Come a little early because once it's packed, you're going to be waiting outside for a bit!

D Street Bar & Grill is the best sports bar in North County. No, I'm not kidding. A little backstory....I was trying to find space to watch the Pitt vs UNC game in the Encinitas / Cardiff area. For whatever reason, it wasn't on cable so I was calling every bar in the area to see if they could steam the game. The only bar that was able to stream the game utilizing ESPN3 was D Street. I had about 8 alumni show up and the manager was able to put the game on multiple TV's....with volume. Can't beat that! The manager also explained how D Street is usually an afterthought and the third or fourth option people consider. I admit, I was skeptical myself. However, after spending a morning here, I am convinced that this is the best sports bar in the area. Besides that, I really enjoyed the service. The server was very nice and talkative, always quick to get another round of drinks. As far as food goes, I had an omelette and it was so -so. The lunch menu looks ten times better then breakfast. No other bar in Encinitas has the amount of TV's and level of service. Come here first!

I come here once in a while for lunch and it's pretty great. The food selection isn't bad and the staff work quickly to get the food out fast. The drinks are good, but sometimes can be a little too strong. The staff is very friendly and always makes sure to stop by the table to see if we need anything. I'll definitely be coming back some more.

Fun place to watch a game and have something to eat. Particularly love Recession Mondays where entrees are half price. This is definitely a place to go if you are in Encinitas! Service is good and in the evening on Friday and Saturday from 10pm to 1am, there is dancing. Also, fun!

Small bar crowded with fresh 21 yr olds. It was fun going here back in the day but now i realize how crazy i was to wait in line for a long time only to get dry humped by lonely sad psychos. The drinks here were okay. Pretty inconsistent but i try to go to the bartender who pours the Heaviest. Those are always the nice ones. Will i ever come back here? Maybe if im forced against my will by one of my friends which is highly unlikely.

I try and stay away from writing reviews of some places, mostly because I think that if you're going to a certain style of restaurant, you should be aware of what you're getting into. No one comes to yelp for McDonalds for any reason other to complain (and those that actually stop by to write positive reviews for an Egg McMuffin should be viewed with suspect). Bars are kinda that way; from a food and drink standpoint, a beer will always be a beer. They may mix a better Dirty Grey Goose Martini, but that can only go so far. About the most you can do is: Coyote in Carlsbad - Midori and lots of cougars. Kraken in Encinitas - Dive with good music. Leucadian in Cardiff- Abandon all hope. Anyway, we used to come to D-Street on Wednesdays for $0.25 Wings. Cheap happy hour drinks and a plateful of Buffalo and BBQ was not a bad way to spend a night. But, earlier this year they jumped up the prices to $0.50 a pop and abandoned some of the discounts for happy hour. We ended up watching our bill go from $15 to $30+ in one trip for the same food. The food was alright, but not worth the sudden leap, so we stopped coming. But, they do have other specials for every other day of the week. And while I do admit that the food is average to not bad, it takes a step up to very try-able on Mondays when all entrees are half off. A grilled chicken sandwich is not very appetizing when it costs $12, but when you can get that and a side of fries for $6, it can be kinda yummy. So, check the specials and try it out on a day that suits you. You may find a nice place to eat out at every other week. Fair food in good sized amounts at fair prices aren't too bad of a thing every once in a while.

My husband and I came here for a late lunch/ early dinner last night when it was taco Tuesday. My husband ordered the fish tacos and said they were the best fish tacos he has ever had and they were only $2 each!! I ordered the so cal tri tip sandwich which was really really good! The Cajun seasoned fries were also so good! The prices are nice, especially during specials and/or happy hour. We love the atmosphere. Our poor server was swamped with the whole restaurant by himself, yet he was still attentive and gave great service. We will definitely be back!

Came here for drinks for my girl's bay.. The bartender, J R, was extremely rude! I asked for water and he barley squirted anything in a cup. I was shocked and told him he was very rude, he then took my almost-empty water cup away. It was so rude! I asked if I can get the water back and he put the cup in front of me and stared pouring as he said "if this is what's going to make u leave!" I've never been treated like that by someone at a business.. I spoke to the owner about it and emailed management. They offered a gift certificate but I refuse to give them any of my future business. That guy J R should not be working there. Horrible.

If I ever go back here and actually eat the food I will update my review but for now... This is what I know.... Pros- Big and lots of seating Lots of TV's Servers were very nice Place was clean Although I didn't eat any, the food looked delicious. They changed the Tv to something we requested. Cons- I'm a Denver Broncos fan and the Seattle Seahawks signs gotta go! But that is a personal preference regarding their decor... Other than that, I would try this place again!

A Hawks Nest! More stars for you D Street and I give them wholeheartedly as since my last review I've become a regular. The BF and fellow ex Washingtonians and I find ourselves here a whole lot during football season as they're the "Seahawks Bar" in North SD. The food is pretty decent too and they make my favorite drink, Jameson and Ginger beer, so I can't complain. Give me my libation and some chicken wings and I'm pretty set. Add some of my teams schwag and friendly staff and I'm in for the season... okay okay, we didn't win last week but whatever, I loved them and had season tickets when they were not any where near world champions #12thman #goodtimesandbad, During Sunday games they raffle off prizes at half time based on how much you've spent. You could even win a jersey of your choice. I can't give a fifth star cause there's one thing that takes the wind out of my sports bar sails. Although they're cute and normally behaved, there is kids in this bar. I can't fully express my football lovin self with little ones present. Dropping an unladylike F bomb at a shitty play or dropping it like its hott for a touchdown pass isn't appropriate and stifles the experience a bit for me. The family vibe is cool... But maybe we can put a football season ban on your tater tots from September till January. The mozzarella sticks are fantastic, burgers and chicken solid too, local brews and good bartenders: D Street for the win

Came here with my kids(13 & 10) and some friends on Saturday afternoon for lunch. It's seat yourself and there were TONS of places to sit and lots of booths and tables to accommodate a group our size (8). The menu has a good variety from pizza to burgers to chicken. There is no kids menu, but it didn't matter. Lots of kid friendly foods. I ordered from the burger bar and it was perfect. Cooked just as I requested and served really hot! It came on a pretzel bun...yum. Everyone at the table seemed to like the food and the kids ordered the Grasshopper dessert and loved it. The service was outstanding. I never had to ask for a refill; she just kept refreshing our drinks for us. It wasn't an inexpensive lunch by any means, but it wasn't overpriced. TIP: The restrooms have mouthwash dispensers and unfortunately I confused it for soap even though it was clearly labeled "mouthwash." My hands smelled minty fresh for awhile. ha. Great experience. Excellent food and service. Fun vibe with lots of sports on the TVs. Will definitely be back.

Standard sports bar, cramped, noisy, and hot. The food has aspiration but is abusively overpriced (the clam chowder is very good, but a shallow bowl of it is $9).

Max the bartender is great! So friendly and positive, he made my Saturday morning wonderful. Gotta love $3 mimosas!!and their breakfast is pretty good too!! I wouldn't expect to have such great food from a "sports bar" but they proved me wrong. love d street, I'll be back!!

Typical bar food. Wings were fair to middling, Cadillac margarita was large, but hardly Cadillac.

The food was ok, but the service absolutely sucks. We were seated for maybe 10-15 minutes before anyone acknowledged is (and there were only like 5 people eating in there). The lady that finally came over clearly hates her job because she was the most rude waitress I've ever seen. Finally we had someone else take over who was much more pleasant. It also took nearly an hour to serve our food!!!!!! Before we left, I asked to speak to the manager on duty. I explained our situation and he could not have cared any less! My thoughts- if you are going to work in a place to involves customer service, you need to have some sort of personality. And as a manager, you need to care about your clients! I will never go here again and I don't recommend this place to your worse enemy!

Early morning stroll after eating breakfast just walking by and saw 20 TVs on for the World Cup. Stopped for a strong Bloody Mary with extra horseradish and Worcestershire sauce. Cute, friendly, barmaid very accommodating. Our first time here. Friendly crowd streaming in. Fun people watching with windows all open facing 101. We'll be back when we're hungrier to check out their food.

I struggle with D Street because the worst part about the place is the clientele that goes there after 7pm on any given day. The place itself is really cool; the decor is nice, they've got a bazillion TVs, and they have a kitschy drink stock market ticker thing with fluctuating prices throughout the day. The servers have always been really nice. Also, their prices are good, as is the quality of the food (get the So Cal Philly). You can't ask for much more. Now if they could just get the douchey college crowd to go somewhere else this place would be perfect.

Not a place you would expect for a good steak but the Flat Iron Steak is just the way I like it. The seasonings are great And they always cook it just right (medium rare for me). Writing this review on my iPad on their Wfi that's free for customers.

OK it's pretty good. They have specials for different days. Like wing Wednesday, and happy hour is 3pm-7pm. Pitchers are around $25 without happy hour and there are plenty of tbs around to watch multiple games. The end

It was ok. They have some nice beers on tap. I had the chicken tenders, which were ok but nothing special. I came early on a Friday afternoon and it was mostly empty. The bartender was a really friendly girl. I might come back at some point and see what it is like in the evening.

I've been to D street many a time before last night. Having worked in Encinitas a few years ago, my coworkers and I would often come here to blow off steam from the work week. However, never before have I experienced such blatant favoritism/discrimination. One of my friends asked the bouncers how long the wait was and he said it'd be 15 minutes because they were at capacity. There were around 8 of us. As soon as we stepped away from the door, these two other men came up to the door and were immediately let in. The bouncers' reply as to why they were let in and not any of us? They're regulars. How are you going to compromise the safety of everyone in there because the building is apparently at capacity just because your regulars showed up? If that were truly the case they wouldn't have allowed it like they did with us. Whoever owns this place needs to re-evaluate their staff. What happened last night was clear discrimination. The care with which they handled our outrage was absolutely non-existent and they may as well have just been looking right through us when we complained. There was no concern for how we felt and quite honestly, I don't care how you want to justify it, but when a customer is complaining, at least acknowledge how they're feeling & try to make it right. Don't just stand there looking at us like we're idiots for asking why someone was let in before us. My group of friends and I feel violated. If you are going to turn us away, at least wait until we cross the street before you let your "regulars" in ahead of us while you are "at capacity." Way to rub salt in the wound and turn us off to giving you any more of our business in the future. We'll all be sure to let all of our friends and family know too.

It was good. Service was friendly. It is bar food. Homemade and fresh as bar food can be. I recommend it for a hangover stop. By the ocean with great fresh air and sunshine. Scott had the fish tacos. He forgot to ask if corn or flour shells and he is gluten free so they were flour shells and the beans are black beans. Of course scott is allergic to those as well. So our responsibility to check before ordering. Overall good experience. Nice hang out.

Disappointed with my service last night. A very loyal customer for every Monday night for 3 months! 15 minutes before server showed up and then 45 minutes to get our food. I felt like perhaps I was being targeted for coming in too often for recession Monday. Well we're out from now on.

Brad was the bomb as my server/bartender. Introduced me to the St. Archer Blonde. Delicious turkey burger and seasoned fries. Great for an afternoon snack or to watch the game. I have a couple of grilled fish dishes there before and they were excellent too. The bathrooms and floors are super clean. Good thing I live in orange county. I would live in this place and they would have all my money.

Went last night for a Bachelorette party, the guy employees outside and at the bar were friendly but once it got busy our waitress who opened our tabs did not come back once to get any more drinks for us. We had to search for her to buy our drinks because she had our tabs, not the bar!! That was terrible service!! They also charged me for an extra drink that I didn't purchase and added a 20% gratuity to the bill. I want a refund!!!

My boyfriend and I have met here for lunch during the week a few times and we always have good food. Their philly cheese steaks are top notch, however the service can be hit or miss. We have had awesome service and we have had slow service. Generally we don't mind but when we are trying to grab a quick bite on a lunch break it can be a bit frustrating since you never know how long it could take. This is a good spot to watch a big game too, we came here for ten World Cup final and it was packed! If you know it's going to be a popular game then get there early!

D Street is amaaaazing! I come here every week during the happy hour specials. I'm a big fan of Taco Tuesday. 1) awesome drink specials. I love me some $3 margaritas. 2) delicious BEER BATTER TACOS for $2. perfect for poor college kids like me 3) Sam is the best server ever. She is always lively and upbeat and it's awesome to have a server that's always smiling and super smokin. 4) also they have so many tv's. They even will change the channel if you want to watch your favorite team wherever you sit. love it!

  • Rebel H.

Max,the bartender, is one of the best you'll find anywhere! He's a "fully functional" human being! (Inside joke between my awesome bartender & me) Seriously, D Street Bar & Grill is awesome, open early, and has great staff & food. You can't go wrong!!

    (5)
  • Carmen V.

You can't go wrong at D Street, it has it all: perfect central location at the 101 in downtown Encinitas, plenty of TVs to monitor all your sports but not excessively loud, tremendously spicy wings (if you, like me, prefer them that way) or just having a drink with friends. Seats and disposition are very comfortable and you can have a conversation. Saturdays are more crowded and loud, but still has this appeal of local hangout that makes this place very attractive. Plus, for the ladies, it is full of good looking surfer dudes!

    (4)
  • Andy C.

I must admit I've never been here when it wasn't super crowded and pushing my way through a sea of drunk people getting drinks spilled on me, but dang this place is really nice little bar and grill with some decent food on their menu. I came here after an event with some friends and got a few little snacks and some beers. My favorite will always be blue moon so there is never getting away from that, but sometimes, I wish that their oranges were a little fresher. Buffalo wings, onion rings, and buffalo chicken tenders make for some get sharing plates with a small group of friends. Wings Wednesday are 50 cents a wing and I love that their men's bathroom has a mouthwash dispenser. Promoting good oral hygiene, great food and drinks has me coming back to this place over and over. Also, another great plus is that their have a drink stock ticker thing where the drink prices go up or down. Pretty cool!!! Check out their snapsho.com machine as you leave!!!

I'd say just ok because the service at first was just AWFUL! It's not that large of a place and I saw at least a few waitresses but couldn't get someone to actually ask if I needed anything- why was I ignored so much? We ended up finally getting a girl who was a little better at least... So they have a very small wine list- obviously not a place for that but still ;) Oh well, so I ordered dinner- the Wahoo plate I believe- which came with rice that I switched out for mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. So the plate overall was a good size, including the filet, but it was REALLY dry/rubbery. It should be flaky people...not rubbery. The veggies were good but very buttered as were the potatoes but also tasty. Overall not my favorite but not the worst place... We arrived right at the end of a football game and it was PACKED! Seems much more of a tavern/bar than anything else.

  • Tabitha M.

Fun and unpretentious. This place has a mellow vibe for a little day drinking (with just the right amount of natural light to not feel like a total booze bag :) but turns into the quintessential college bar at night. Great for out-of-town family and dancing with girlfriends...I've even met my husband's boss' wife here! LOVE the wings and BBQ chicken salad.

    (5)
  • Jimmy C.

Its pretty fun to watch a game here. The food is okay. The philly cheesesteak is probably the best thing I've had here. Rowdy at night so hit the dance floor and boogie!

  • heidi s.

This place rocks my socks off ! Their food is top notch and accordingly priced. They have over 20 TVs and always super accommodating when it comes to game/sound requests. There is also one hunk of a bar manager, Ryan. The sweetest, most awesome guy ever! If you're looking for good food and even greater company head over to this neighborhood joint ! Even bigger plus if it's a night that Ryan is behind the bar!

Meh, the place is alright. I hate giving bad reviews on restaurants and bars bc every place has its "off" days. We came in this past Saturday with about 8-10 people. Some eating, some drinking. This was our first time here. Those that ate said the food was good and I enjoyed my mule. The one thing I can't stand is when you get a server who is not friendly and looks like she does not want to be there what so ever. If you're hungover or having a bad day, get your shift covered. Don't take that out on us, I'd rather you be over the top bubbly than act like we are an inconvenience. All in all, not sure if I'll be back, there are plenty of other places that would love our business.

Came in on a Wednesday afternoon with my boyfriend and had a great time and best service. My lovely server Jenn was personable and offered great service, told me about the delicious wings on Wednesday! She also recommended I pair her favorite beer, Firestone 805 blonde, and it was great. I will definitely be back for more wings on wing Wednesday and other days of the week!

I have to say are first time here to this Bar and it was awesome. We had an awesome server (Amber) somewhat crowded but she ensured we had everything we needed. Family oriented which made it even better. Definitely will be coming back. Thanks D St Bar and Grill. Awesome place to watch some Soccer.

Horrible waitress refused to serve us a drink. She claimed we were drunk, when actually we are just naturally loud. I was offended because of this. After being ignored over 20 minutes, we walked out. And she still had the nerve to chase after us and try to charge us!! We refused since all the service we had there was 4 waters. For all waitress/ers out there please don't confuse a loud personality for drunkness. Never going back.

So the only reason I'm giving it 4-stars is because I loved their mushroom burger. I don;t know if that's what it's called, but it had mushrooms. I love mushrooms. Our waitress was super friendly. Very small dance floor. Awkard people about. I was bored. But that was my first night there. I've gone back and I manage to have an all right time. Nothing too spectacular. But it's relatively close to where I live, and there's no cover to pay. So...just get drunk and dance XD That's what I've done. The bouncers are super chill. Friendly, chatty, and funny. The place can get pretty crowded. I've definitely noticed some regulars. So that can suck because if you have an interaction with them, and then hope to never see them again...well, you just might. Guys, sometimes a girl just wants to flirt for a night and then forget about you. Please be considerate and leave us the eff alone!!! Clean bathrooms - thank heavens! Sometimes they do play older songs from the 80s, and it's like, "Dude. I wasn't alive back then. Please, I know people in their 30s like it, but please change it! The times have changed." At least they don't do it as often as Acapulco in San Marcos. Dear lord, that was horrible. It's definitely not Stingaree or other SD bars (clearly, for there are no hot international Dubai/Arab guys that come here *so sad*), but for a casual night out, come on in. Which reminds me...attire. Very casual. Some people do dress up, but among the plain joes, it looks odd. I wore a dress once and took heels, and might again (dress, but with boots next time), but definitely not required to get all made up. I would actually give the "club" part a 3.5. 1/2 still ups for the burger tho...

Our group wanted to try something new out, and we've passed this bar a million times on our way to the beach. I've been here once in the day for lunch, and it was rather quiet. I was actually surprised at how crowded it was at night. They had a DJ and a lot of people were dancing. Mostly young people, but there are a few old creepers creeping. I saw a sign for the lunge upstairs, but didn't check it out. Cool bar with fun music videos playing on the TVs.

This place is OK. And when I was there recently after the Switchfoot concert at Moonlight they apparently had new staff. Wow the bartender forgot to put cranberry in my drink so I got a pint glass full of vodka. Buzzzzzzzzzz. The waitress brought me some cranberry to soften the blow at no charge. Actually it looks like I was getting a fabulous deal. That drink sectioned out into 4. Nice. I had what I believe was the prime rib (or was it tri tip) tacos and the meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My one complaint is that they jam way too many tables in this place. It was hard to maneuver around between tables. If they removed just one 4 top I bet it would make a lot of difference in getting around. This place is a solid 3.

There's three great things about D Street: their wings, dance floor, and tvs. Starting at 4 o'clock, wings are 50 cents each on Wing Wednesdays. Order the Hot and Honey wings. These are the best wings I have ever had. They are perfectly breaded, sweet, and not all that spicy. You can only order them in fives, so round up. More is better. They have tons of tvs for all sorts of sports. Eating the tastiest wings to a sports game just makes my day. Their dance floor is one of the best dance floors in Encinitas and possibly North County. It's always packed and full of people eager to have fun. There's no need to worry about being the only one on the dance floor. At night, the place is very crowded but a seat can usually be found at the upstairs lounge. Drinks are okay, but I'm usually having too much fun to order a drink anyways. I haven't ever had a bad experience here so I'll be coming here for many years to come.

This section of the 101 in Encinitas has lots of bar options, but D Street Bar & Grill is extremely unique in that the prices of their drinks change right in front of your eyes! They have a stock market ticker like screen that shows what's up, what's down, and the high/low price of the day. Pretty cool in my opinion. Both time I've been here have been during the day, so I can't say much about the night crowd. I haven't sampled much of the food either (chips and salsa), but there are various menu items that I'm sure I'll try at one point or another. I do not recommend their bloody mary.

  • Jess R.

The only reason this place has 4 starts is because of our awesome waiter Hedi. We had issues with the nachos they didn't have chicken and way too many olives but the wings were some of the best I've had. She not only was an awesome waiter but she ran out to give us our phones we forgot.. TWICE. If we do come back hopefully she will wait our table again... We would have given a 2/3 but she saved the review

If you are going to go out in Encinitas, it has to be D Street! This place has a relaxed vibe during the day, and come weekend evenings it becomes the spot you have to be. The music and dance floor is the best place on that street, which is why it can sometimes take a while to get in during peak hours, but believe me, it's so worth it! I always have a blast when I go there. While I enjoy all of the people that work there, I have to say that JR provides the best bar service, he makes a mean margarita! I love the wings and the barbeque chicken salad. They also have great drink specials and TVs galore if you're wanting to catch a game!

Brought a friend here for a beer on a Saturday night and couldn't believe how poor the service was... Prime real estate, however it seems the staff could careless about making money as they were to busy doing everything else but selling food/drinks! Will not return:-(

Drink stock market is pretty cool. Happy hour is pretty ballin' here with 3.50 well drinks, and 3.00 select draughts, which include craft beers. Fries were really good, they're like thicker cut but crispy, and served with America's downfall : Ranch Dressing on the side. Not a bad happy hour joint, at all. The bathrooms have mouthwash are well kept as well. Waitresses / bartenders were nice, and they made a good mule. Not as good as Solace, but good.

Came in for happy hour w/ a few friends after the farmer's market last week. The service was great and we enjoyed our wings & onion rings! The D Street is a great place to hang out, there's TV screens if you want to watch the game or just be loud and have a great time w/ friends. oh, and don't forget to take your picture by the door on your way out! fun!

I was part of a large group of 20 plus that came in for a birthday party. They were very generous with pours beers were ice cold! The music was awesome and dance floor was packed. They also have lots of TVs and we heard it is a great place to watch football. We had a few apps. Nothing exciting here basic blah bar food. Good night sport overall and good for large groups. And if you like to dance it is a great local spot for dancing.

I've only been here on Friday and Saturday nights so I can't say anything about the food. However the door staff is awesome. The two guys that work up there are very polite and friendly unlike some of the bouncers in Encinitas who seem to make you jump through fire just to walk in the door. The bar staff is awesome and even if it's slammed they are still very attentive and polite. The dj however is hit or miss. The last few times the music was so lame we left early. The techo thing is really not something I want to dance to and I guess I'm not much of a person who wants to jump up and down. If they had a better DJ, I would definitely come more often.

Okay I cannot comment on the night scene at this bar, as I am not a late night bar person. But we went there yesterday for breakfast, because their was a line every where else. I had the vegetarian omelet and it was super fluffy, chock full of veggies and delicious. I like that they put onions and yellow peppers in their potatoes. They open for breakfast at 9 AM on Saturday and Sunday. So glad we discovered this awesome breakfast place. Also was very quiet.

Came in for Sunday football & what a treat. This place is fully stocked with every beer on tap/bottle that you can imagine, has enough tvs to fill Best Buy and has friendly service to boot. Definitely enjoyed our time here, and were lucky to grab the last few seats at the bar, if you are coming in to watch a game make sure to arrive early. This place fills up!

  • Larissa M.

Went there on a Saturday evening for dinner. Wasn't too busy which made it nice. No complaints about the food, nothing over-the-top great but it hit the spot. Service was very good and our waitress checked in on us often. We also ordered one of their specialty cocktails and it was tasty. I can't remember the name of it though :( They have lots of TV's which will be great during football season! Definitely a sports atmosphere which is cool, if you're into that kind of thing. We will be going back at some point.

Jalapeño Jack Burger - Amazing. Bacon Cheeseburger - Delicious. Stone IPA pitcher for $22 bucks - I think Yes. Good food prices and really great selection. Hate to be "greeted" by snooty hostesses but food was awesome and with big screens all around you can't go wrong. Cheers!!!

This is a good place. Nice atmosphere. But I had a well vodka and redbull that cost $9. That's steep. But besides that it is a good bar. Great location too. If you don't mind the pricing, go ahead to this lovely place.

D Street Bar & Grill is awesome!! Super friendly staff, great location and the drinks are always delicious. The atmosphere is fun, with a variety of patrons from Happy Hours, Sporting Events and Family get together's. They even bring in a DJ on the weekends if you are up for a little dancing! Not your average sports bar!! Great for Lunch or Dinner. Must try the Philly Cheese Steak and the Nachos!! Parking is also easy with the Park and Ride lot located just behind the building. I would recommend you check this place out for your next outing and food//drink craving!! CHEERS! :)

I have not been here to eat just at night when it turns into a bar/night club, and it was OK. It was so overcrowded and they were not doing a great job at managing the line. The bar was impossible to reach because of the crowds, I think that if they let fewer people in they would actually make more money because people would be able to buy drinks. The people there seemed to be a good crowd and having fun, I did despite the overwhelming number of people. I would for sure try this place again and will be prepared for the masses of people. I think it adds a new twist to downtown Encinitas area, with 1st street bar and the Saloon they kinda have a good mix.

Stopped here on the way back from SD so it was OK for a quick 1st time visit to this city. It's a sports bar w typical bar food menu. My burger was good - not outrageously delicious - however my guests was not properly cooked as it was undercooked and raw! TOO BAD.

We sat down and placed an order for just a basket of fries. It took over half an hour and asking two times for them, they had poor service and our server left without letting us know, no one came to help until we found the manager and told him.

this review is not for dinner, but for partying. this place is THE place to be in Encinitas. We were a bunch of out-of-towners in the area for the weekend, wanting to party it up with some drinking and dancing, and the waitress at Karl Strauss told us to hit this place up. "Is it dressy?" "Sometimes they make you take off your hat, but its cool." We arrive at 10pm and there was Security - which is a good sign because that means they have to work a line .. but no one was there.. empty. Had a couple of drinks, and decided to hop to another bar, but there was no where else to go.. the town was empty.. lonely dark and cold streets. We felt like we were on a deserted tv set. Walked over to the Saloon, which was another place the waitress mentioned, but the scrawny guy/bouncer there was an a-hole so we left. .. and returned to D Street and had an awesome time. thumbs down: so the dj sucked - couldn't mix songs, there were gaps between songs! vodka tonics made with sprite? thumbs up:.. but at least there was dancing music and a full bar-with huge shots, woo!

  • Jeremy T.

Wow!!! Was I under the wrong impression or what!! So I moved to Cardiff By The Sea in September of 2010, I use to go to D Street quite a bit before I moved to SD because I have some friends that live around the area. Once I moved down here it became kind of a regular spot for me and my friends I would spend around $400 bucks on average easy over the weekend and I normally tip around 30% not to mention there would normally be around 10 of us and my other friends would spend quite a bit of money to! There are some cool people that work there... they seem like genuine cool people that appreciate your business. But recently they have made some changes, there are now power hungry security guards at the front door that would rather just give you a hard time. I will take my business els wear.

Fun neighborhood bar. Drink prices are good and they have a stock market special where drink prices go up and down with popularity, which is a nice incentive to maybe try something new. The food is way above average for bar food. During the day you can take your family or stop in for lunch. Weeknights it's a good place to hit up happy hour after work. I avoid it on weekend nights though because it gets too much of a douched-up club vibe and their is a line to get in.

I really liked this place. My cousln, a friend and I came here for some drinks and guy scoping and were really impressed by this place. If I live in the area, I would definitely go here on a regular basis. The waitress was just okay, but the pizzas were great and the atmosphere was fun. Totally recommend this place for a casual Friday night to watch the game (or the hot men around).

So it was Thursday, my friend calls me, says he is thirsty, like a true Californian I took him to a bar and that bar happened to be D street. We get there early at around 9 grab a few tacos at the Mexican place right in front of the bar. I bump into an acquaintance and ask him about the place, he says " Dude, you can't pull chicks here, unless you drive a BMW", hmm that really helps now, huh. Well anyway who said anything about chicks, a place is good as long I don't don't get shot:) Thursdays are 80's nights, means more chicks. 80's I think are a chick's thing, I wonder why. Anyway, the music was ok, some Vanilla Ice, Prince etc., They have a small upstairs bar from where you can look down. The downstairs layout is not conducive for interaction, people are always bumping into each other. Slip into one of the booths, order drinks and watch all the action. Girls dancing by themselves, dudes drooling; a typical bar site. Bouncers with attitudes, over dressed girls, spineless guys sums it up. I had to fight my way to get to the restroom. They were clean. Parking is easy. Be careful you have Uncle Sam right outside in his car, to nab all you beer bingers.

D Street is ok. It's your typical bar and grill type spot. If you want to go here and hang out with some friends and perhaps watch a sports game on the TV's, it's ok. Many of the TV's are not plasmas, so be prepared for some standard definition action. I tried out the veggie grilled sandwich with french fries for my meal. It's what you'd expect from a bar, greasy style food. On weekend nights, the place is filled with people out to have a good time. They have some good local beers on tap, so I'll probably find myself there again in the near future, but I'll skip the food.

The employees really shouldn't try to act so hip and special here. Just a bar and grill that gets full of douches on Saturday nights. Plus, the waitress actually returned my receipt and credit card during some happy hour nachos and a beer stating that my tip was too low for her to run it through as is. I should have taken every cent of the tip away right then and there but I'm not that big of a jerk...at least not in person but I am on yelp.

I was the designated driver for my husband and his friends, and his friend just got promoted and bought my husband's drink so this is not based on the drinks but the atmosphere. D Street is pretty small. There are a shit ton of little four person tables crammed in the narrow place. All the tables were about 1 foot apart.. that's being generous. Granted, I was there on a saturday night but there was NO WHERE in the entire place you could sit/ stand and not have people slam into you by accident. Honestly, it is in my top 3 most claustraphobic places... truly it was ridiculous. Being sober, I got to watch the waitresses take 5 minutes to get across the room being that you could not walk. Don't even get me started on the bathroom... the two toilets they had were not working so.... nasty! Also- came at 7:30 and there is no private lot.. you have to park on the street and there was no parking anywhere. We ended up parking a quarter mile away. If you enjoy at least an inch of personal space, don't come here!! There has got to be better places in Carlsbad....

I'm scoring a 3 but this place is a FIVE & a ONE. Here goes. My friends & I popped in after a beach walk and sat at the bar having drinks. The barman was great, friendly, polite and made a great Key Lime Martini for one of us. He deserves a five. After a few we nipped back to our motel then went back to D Street for dinner. Without going into deep details, our waitress was rude, crap & lazy. She was nice to me but ignored my friends or cut them off and was just wrong - all wrong. She messed up the orders, said they didn't do Key Lime Martinis and just treated my friends like they were a piece of crap on her shoe. Not sure if its to do with the fact that I was the only white one (thats what they felt and they're all San Diego born & bred and not given to these feelings) but she ruined our time there. Apart from that, the food was average, drinks were good, prices reasonable. I'm sure we just got a bad waitress or a normal one having a bad day. I doubt if I'll be back.

North County Coastal bar/grill in downtown Encinitas so of course I figured it'd be on the fancier side of the bar scene prior to me coming here. I was right. When I say fancy I mean everything looking new and clean and conservative and glossed over. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice place. I just need to be in the mood to come here. Patrons tended to be the north county coastal suburbanites and stereotypes. Drinks = reasonable to pricey, happy hour is decent but not dirt cheap Service = bartenders cool and easy to chat up with Food = alright This place is spacious but limited seating at the bar. Booths and tables available for dining. Upstairs a separate lounge / bar area. FYI -As many reviewers said here in Yelp.....it's true...beware the Cougars!

I had heard that this was an Encinitas institution & brought my hotel exec husband & my hotel GM cousin & his family here from England for a fun experience. Boy was I embarrassed! I think the place was short staffed. Our poor waiter was really hustling. Not only was he serving, he was clearing tables & tending bar as well. Our meal took forever - maybe an hour for 7 people & the large group next door complained that their baby's meal of eggs took 3 hours - hopefully an exaggeration. There were serving trays left on our table which we physically removed, minimal refills of beverages from the poor overworked young server & I had to go stand at the bar to finally pay the bill. The food was fine but after such a long, noisy wait we really just wanted to leave. I would have appreciated a head's up, if the kitchen was slammed or maybe something presented to eat during the long wait. The place was 2/3 empty when we arrived & I hate to think how long the customers arriving after the place began to fill up had to wait for their food. I was treated to an afternoon of professional commentary on the poor management of the place & of my choice in venue. I will not be returning here again when looking to treat my family to an Encinitas experience!

This place used to be the spot! It was a fun, no-cover bar to go with friends for some drinks and dancing. Prices were reasonable, the music was excellent and the crowd was eclectic and always friendly. Unfortunately they canned the dancing earlier this year (the BEST PART OF THIS BAR!), so I haven't been back in months. That's the only reason my rating is just 3 stars. Bring the old D Street back!

The food is bad even for a sports bar.

    (1)
  • Gumbo B.

the good: many tv's, full bar, large menu the bad: they cannot decide if they are a night club or a bar and grill, WAY TOO LOUD, and they changed their happy hour, which is not a great deal to begin with. The flyer clearly states domestic beers are on happy hour, but they refuse to give you Stone or Sierra Nevada, instead claiming that domestics were only bud light and miller lite (gross). Food is frozen, then cooked, and WAY OVERPRICED. Seating is bad, but service is good. My suggestions: treat the locals right, they will generate return business. Give them a good happy hour, and let everyone know it will be a nightclub after 10pm. TURN DOWN THE MUSIC, and make sure you have all the sports packages. Simplify the menu, reducing inventory and overhead, and offer fresh food.

Great bar and I have been coming here since it was the Millenium way back in the day. Now that they have their cabaret license back, the crowd has definitely gotten more packed, but the drinks are always strong and the waitresses are always fun!

The best thing about this place is that when I went there, there were so many screens that they were actually showing Dragonball Z on one of them. I'm not a fan, but it beats most sports. The worst thing is the noise. I don't particularly want to yell at people within three feet of me unless they've killed my brother or burnt down my house. It was so loud that the server mis-heard my husband's order and brought him a side of fries instead of the burger he had ordered. Given that my friend and I had both ordered full meals, it might have occurred to her to double-check that all my husband wanted was a side. If she thought we were sharing, she could have at least brought an extra plate.

So I know I went on a Monday night and all, but fuck was this place dead. There may have been a dozen people in there if they're lucky. The doorman stared at my I.D. forever, looked at me 3 seperate times, asked my fuckin birthdate, and then finally let me in. I didn't even have a drink!!! You'd think that since it was so dead it wouldn't have take 10 minutes to get our drinks, but unfortunately that was the case. My food took a while too, apparently they had to chase down the chicken, kill it, pluck it, then cook it after I ordered. Heaven forbid my water actually got refilled, I mean it wasn't like I was sucking down free refills of Coke. This place is named pretty aptly. Fuckin D Street as in you get a Fuckin D Bitch!!! Below average, borderline special ed! I almost walked right onto the train tracks after it took me another 10 minutes to get my Debit Card back from the server. It was like she had to walk to the ATM and pull the money out herself. Two decent things about this place. 1) There was a fairly attractive female bartender there, but she seemed to lack a personality. 2) The food was pretty good once it got to the table.

  • Todd D.

D Street might have the best wings in the County for sure!!! When you walk in, it seems like the place is going to be a winner. There are lots of TVs for sports and plenty of seating. The food is good and the drinks are better, as you would find for any bar (except for the wings - they ROCK). The biggest problem with D Street, and this is HUGE, is that whoever runs the place has trouble making up their minds. They need to decide whether they are a sports bar or a disco or rock bar. You can't be both and keep people happy. Try watching the late game and see what happens to your seat. The goons come and take it away and the DJ starts playing the Bee Gees. OR, if you are really (un) lucky, some band made up of 5th graders will take the stage and try to rock. They don't sound bad for 5th graders, but still, what the hell happened to the sports?!?!

Great looking place. Always seems busy. Decent service when not overly crowded. Menu selection has something for everyone. Mediocre draft selection and average food. It definitely is a place that you could hang and be a regular. Very friendly.

I never really go unless its RECESSION MONDAYS where all entrees and bottles of wine are 1/2 off. the food rocks. especially the CAJUN PENNE PASTA. I always take an order home for the next day since it's only 4 bucks on mondays.

Always reliable...its my old faithful establishment, whether for a happy hour with co-workers, watching a big game on the flat screens or eating wings and beer for the heck of it...I love this place and it's great! The staff has a pretty high turnover, but most of them are nice...management changed the happy hour a few months back, which was disappointing, but I hear the winds of change are blowing again so there might be something to look forward to.

I would definitely take advantage of happy hour or the recession Mondays is they still have them. The pizza and burger were decent and since there were surf movies playing on the flat screens I was able to easily ignore my dull date and keep entertained. heyo!

This use to be damn fine place to go dancing in North County. There aren't many places where you can shake it on the dance floor North of PB and that is a sad fact, but D Street Bar and Grill is a pretty fun sports bar. You see, this use to be Martini Ranch, but the venue lost it's dancing license so now it is called D Street Bar and Grill. D Street features big screen tvs instead of Djs. I think it's tragic, but if you go here to get some drinks with some buddies, good times will be had. The venue is definitely more relaxed and chill than its' former self and for some people that is a good thing, but for others it just gives us another excuse to go to San Diego to seek a night life.

  • Charlie Y.

Did not like it. Maybe I just don't get D-Street, but I agree with the other reviewers, this place needs to decide if it is a sports bar or nightclub. I went there at night, it was the quintessential fratboy "bros and hos" club. If you don't pass out from the fumes of skanky perfume and hair gel, you might get to pay a lot of money for a watered down cocktail or a crappy beer; after a huge wait of course. Wall to wall wifebeaters, popped collars, and butterfly tattoos. Forget it, there's no decent place to go out in North County anyways. Won't be back

  • Julie G.

Christine C said it best as this place used to be fun. Formerly known as the Martini Ranch, they somehow lost their dancing and cabaret license. How did they let that happen? There is no place in Encinitas to go dancing now. It used to also showcase bands which was way cool. I'm not sure whose fault it is but the City of Encintias should have tried harder to get them to comply. Now a sports bar with the same food and drinks so not too bad. A good lounge nonetheless.

encinitas pub crawl...dinner hours fairly lax and empty...rounds of tequila, stone brew and scotch....screens around and slow evening start....hours tick by and slow filling trickle of crowd...younger, wilder, louder and energetic....encinitas of sd compareable to marina of sf....bite of simple cheese steak quite standard fine...side of fries crispy good...back table seated and cute blonde waitress servicing...

I've gone twice because I've had coupons from restaurant.com , so I paid about $6 for $50 worth of food. The food is all basic stuff but well-prepared, and the service is reasonable. The place has a patron-to-tv ratio of about 2:1, so whatever sport you like is going to be there. I would go there for the food and atmosphere, not the partying. It put me off that there were bouncers at the door when we left, around 9:30. It's a good place to go with a group - you can be loud and not worry about disturbin anyone.

Meat market. If you're looking to get laid come here. Average priced drinks. Slow, but friendly service. Gets pretty packed on the weekends. Also have some good deals during the week. Something like "recession Tuesdays?" All in all, very LOUD, little dance floor, a place to hook up with a random stranger. Best part is, if you get too drunk stroll on over to Filibertos. 24 hour drive thru (remember to not drink and drive :) - plenty of cops in Encinitas) hole in the wall. But damn it's some of the best Mexican in coastal N. County. Colimas and Karinas coming ahead. They also have a tiny upstairs area to kinda get away from it all. Keep in mind it's one of the more popular bars in Encinitas, so expect that kind of crowd.

  • Dan G.

Your standard bar / food place. A decent selection of beer and spirits, and their food menu is quite extensive. The cajun fries were the best thing I tried and cheap ($3.95) for two or three people to split. However, the service was slow and the place was way too crowded, even at 5:30. I can think of lots of better places to go for a bite or to go for party, this location seems to combine them both and it gets muddled.

This place is great for catching the game and grabbing a beer and some food during the work week. Then come Friday and Saturday late night and look out! This place is packed with everyone in North County who is out and about looking for a good time. HTey have been posting random specials throughout hte week - like Recession Thursdays (might be the wrong day) and 1/2 off wine bottles on Monday night, so definitely visit this place Mon - Thursday for some good deals!

This holds the honor of being the closest establishment to my home. When it was Martini Ranch I went a couple times. Blah. When it first converted to D-Street -- still blah, but with more hosebags. They did another refurb awhile ago and I went in for a Thursday night NFL game, and wow what a difference. I counted about 30 T.V.'s, good drinks. The crowd was a bit of a better mix from the previous crowd that always seemed to be the punks that got booted from the Saloon and First Street Bar (which is hard to do). The waitress was a ghost - never came around after the first time, but we were so close to the bar, and so into the game, that it didn't matter. I didn't get a chance to look at the menu to see if there is anything other than the typical sport's bar fried food selection, but I'll look at it next time. With Yogi's (my old NFL place) having a continuous parking cluster-f__k now, this place is my new NFL place as well as my new go-to place for a random drink and a stumble home. ADDENDUM 12/19/07: Went to breakfast here last Saturday with the Yelp Elite group. We had 16 people, and absolutely everybody's breakfast looked great. I had the California watchamacallit with avocados, eggs, bread, hollandaise sauce, bacon extra crisp, etc. DAMN it was good. Caught me by surprise. They even got the bacon right, which doesn't always happen in most places. I highly recommend this place for a sunday morning football game brunch. With Honey's, Pipe's, and Potato Shack so close, they have to be really good to get my attention. It was good enough for me to change them from four to five stars. I haven't had anything in the evenings food wise here yet because I was expecting the normal sports bar fried fare, but I will try them out now after the great job they did on breakfast.

I am giving this review for this past saturday only, prior to this I have enjoyed this place. The crowd was not a mix, it was all the local college drunks, I mean I can be one of those too and I am local but this time there were too many there and it just made for a bad looking crowd. The service at the bar was poor and the bartender just wanted us out of there for some reason. I do understand it was a little busy but does it really hurt to greet the people and smile a little bit?

Awesome Place!!! The food was great and the pizza is fantastic! Service is a little bit slow at points, but other than that it's great! There's a lot of TVs playing sports, and when I say a lot, I mean a LOT! Great Place!!!

went here on a Saturday evening to watch college football with a buddy and loved it. Tons of TV's with lots of different games, excellent service and fair prices on the beer. My friend had the sliders and I had a bacon burger with fries and really liked it. I love the atmosphere and would definitely go back to watch sports

  • Jerry Dean C.

The best thing here is the beer, other than that dont go here. Service sucks ass. The waitress staff is more interested in helping out their friends first, it doesnt matter if we waited half an hour just to order or entrees. After she took our orders some of our group cancelled their order and went to Filibertos across the street to get carne asada fries. We should have all just gone there. We tipped the bitch $5 on a $78 bill. Their food and service sucks. The beer and the bouncer were cool.
