Wonderful meal with family. Great server Janette. She was attentive to our group. Food was fresh and full of flavor. Pork Chop nicely seared, juicy and moist. Blue wedge very flavorful and the iceberg crispy. The Piccata lemony and covered with capers. We will be back

More like 2 1/2. I've eaten here a number of times because I live across the street, actually I take that back, I have only ordered takeout. Overall the food is good. The reason for the low rating is that every time I go there seems to be something wrong with the experience. One time they literally lost my ticket. Another time I went to pick up my mother's food with her credit card and they wouldn't let me use it. Yes the food is good, chicken piccata and the house salad are pretty good, but for the price it's kind of ridiculous. The thing that bothers me most about this place is the menus online are always different than the one they have that day and they are almost always out of something. When you call and try to order what you've spent a half hour trying to decide on, only to have them read the whole menu off to you is really frustrating. Update: I was walking in right as I was writing this review. And two seconds after I walk in the power just goes out. JUST as I was saying something always goes wrong... Wow. I mean wow.

Another solid meal at Baci. The upper tables are great, the service is outstanding from the hostess to the server. Had the chicken picatta (both of us), excellent taste and quality. I really enjoy this place as it becomes our GO To restaurant.

Calamari was really good. I wanted to bottle their dipping sauce! Pesto crusted Sword fish was very good. Husband got the steamed clams instead of steamed mussels and thought they were huge and wonderful. The children's burgers were very big. They could have split the 1/4+ pounder! Desserts were ok. Just ok. The negative was Manhattan we ordered straight that came with chunks of ice in it. Honestly, that's just for us Manhattan snobs. Otherwise, a great restaurant.

Took my daughter & her hubs out to dinner on Saturday night for her birthday. We made last minute reservations on the website, super easy. We arrived about 30 minutes early but we were accommodated as soon as we arrived. The restaurant is charming, black & white modern Italian. It has a neighborhood favorite vibe. We ate our selves silly, starting with terrific appetizers. We had the fried calamari & shoestring onions. Light h delicious, although I thought the onions were a bit salty. Probably just me, as I'm not used to much salt. The citrus caper aioli was so fantastic, we used every bit of it. We each ordered a different entree + a pasta dish that we all shared. My SIL had the rib eye steak. It was a beautiful cut of beef, thick, large & cooked to a perfect medium. He was a happy camper. My daughter had the halibut with olive tapenade. She shared her perfectly broiled fish with me and I had to agree with her that it was the most delicious halibut we've ever tasted. I couldn't decide between the pork chop or the 1/2 roasted chicken. Our very helpful server recommend the pork chop. I was not disappointed when a humungous chop appeared. It was grilled to perfection. Sometimes when you get a thick, none-in chop it is raw near the bone. It came in a tasty sauce that had slices of various colors of potatoes floating around the chop. Sometimes they prepare a sausage stuffed pork chop. I'd love to have a taste of that! All 3 of us shared the pasta with sausage. Just a little dry. Needs some kind of sauce. Since we were celebrating her birthday we ordered 2 different desserts. She had tiramisu, which she said was fantastic. I had the caramel cake, which I enjoyed. Service at Baci is excellent. My only complaint was the water & ice. I requested a glass of ice water, a glass of ice, & a bottle of San Pellegrino. I got a goblet with a little ice and the San Pellegrino, a small glass of ice, & a very small cocktail glass of spa water with citrus & cucumber slices. It was disgusting to me. My daughter loved it. Next time I'll just ask for tap water & more ice. It's a bit pricey but well worth it. We had a lovely evening & a super fantastic meal. We will go to Baci again when I go visit my daughter.

I started with a Cosmo and my husband a glass of the Malbec. I had the beet salad, goat cheese with almonds, lightly dressed greens, slightly seared asparagus & delicious beets. I finished every last bite. My hubby had the Blue cheese and strawberry salad with candied walnuts. Not a morsel left!! I had the seared halibut which was accompanied with rainbow cauliflower, young carrots & English peas. It was delightful. My hubby had the chicken Parmesan which came with pasta. We finished everything. We ended the meal with the molten chocolate cake & vanilla ice cream. The cake was warm and we ate every last bit!! Our server, Christina was very attentive. We have enjoyed dinning at Baci for several years and find it consistently good.

I am very happy we finally got a decent Italian spot locally in Blackhawk plaza. We used to have strizzi's though with bad service. This place is totally revamped to look and feel great and the people there are smiles all the way with thanks and pleases. I love it. And the food rocks.

I had intended on having dinner in the bar at Blackhawk Grill last night, but it was packed and the wait staff wandered past us several times like we were invisible...time to get out and try somewhere else. I'd heard about Baci Cafe, so we wandered over and were pleasantly surpised at the nice decore and quick seating. Within moments, I was pleased to see several great looking choices on the menu. The wait staff was very good - quick, efficient and friendly. Here's our order: Cheesburger Mac 'n Cheese Brussels sprouts Kid's pasta with bolognese and a meatball Molten chocolate cake Bonus: Schubros IPA on tap Well? I loved it all! The food was very good, freshly prepared, generous portions...really satisfying. I've been struggling to find a good solid and reliable restaurant in the area. I think Baci Cafe may be the place I've been looking for. I'm excited to hand out 5 stars...and return for visit #2! 5 stars, thank you Baci Cafe!

I wish I could give zero stars. We have had numerous deliveries since Baci opened. Tonight I ordered a wedge salad and 2 entrees. The wedge salad had wilted leaves halfway through. I called and placed on hold for quite awhile. I finally talked to someone and said I wanted salad credited, I would use my own lettuce. I was told I needed to speak to a manager and put on hold again. I waited for a few minutes and hung up. After paying for take out I had to prepare my lettuce while the meal got cold. I called after dinner and and was put on hold again and then spoke to Mike the manager. I told him we have been regular customers from the beginning. His response was that he could send a new salad and check the lettuce (like he didn't trust me). Now I'm really angry and told him we are done. Terrible customer service to a long time customer! We have also had them do our catering for our family Christmas dinner since they opened. I will be looking for a new place.

We ordered delivery from here for the first time tonight. We had the wedge salad with bacon, spaghetti and meatballs and their Thai skewers. I will give you positives and negatives. POSITIVES -food was delivered quickly -food itself was quite good and the bread was still warm when delivered. -driver was courteous -ordering was easy. NEGATIVES -meals were kind of on the small side. Expected more food for $50 -forgot our drinks but they did call back quickly and apologized and returned the money. -pricey for what you get Overall good just pricey. I would like to try this place eating there to see how it is. I would try it again for sure.

I used the catering for a large dinner (pasta feed for a high school team) and it was perfect! They delivered on time, brought everything I would need, and the food was amazing. I would highly recommend the Mac n Cheese and spaghetti bolognese!

Server was excellent (and very helpful) They checked on the ingredients of the dishes we were thinking of ordering to ensure there were no dairy ingredients (for allergies). We decided to get a mix of starters to sample the food I had the Thai Filet Steak Skewers - awesome My wife and daugther really enjoyed their choices too. Definitely worth coming back again to sample more dishes

Came here for dinner. We always like to try new places and here they have plenty of parking (being located in a strip mall). Plus I got credit for reserving through Opentable. The service was good and the ambiance is festive, but food quality is significantly below Piatti, Primavera, and even Pasta Pomodoro. I tend to grade on a curve (just like in salary reviews at work). The passiontini cocktail was pretty good - sweet from the pineapple liqueur but otherwise strong and smooth. The pear-Gorgonzola-walnut salad tasted OK and the greens were fresh and the cheese good. The pears looked canned though and would have been much better if fresh and not pickled. Mussel appetizers came in a huge bowl, but we noticed the sauce was much thicker than other places. Mussels tasted okay - we've had fresher, less "grainier" versions elsewhere. The grilled crostini bread was more sourdough and not garlicky like other places. For entree wife got the clams linguine. They gave lots of clams here, a good thing. Linguine was cooked well but seemed over seasoned - salty at first then you get a kick from the red chili flakes. The white wine sauce either had too much Parmesan or butter - but it was super viscous as well. It wasn't a necessarily bad dish, just not impressive. I had the pecan-crusted mahi mahi with pesto rissotto and topped with red pepper and asparagus. Presentation was beautiful and they gave a generous portion of fish. Risotto was seasoned and cooked well, but the fish was a bit under seasoned. It was a good sized piece but the pecan topping was too sparse to impart flavor. Would probably not come back, since there are many other Italian options in the area. It may well be they are less strong at seafood here based on what we ordered. Maybe they have a chance to improve next time - like in report cards or salary and performance reviews - it's all relative to peers.

This used to be my go-to place to have lunch with friends in their nice outdoor patio, with their fresh salads, sandwiches, and good selection of wine. Unfortunately, they no longer open for lunch...only dinner. The service is friendly and attentive. Their mango ahi tuna is delicious, their pasta dishes yummy, and sometimes I walk over in the evenings just for their dessert! I love their chocolate lava cake! All in all great lil place, with fresh food, good service, good wine, and good dessert.

We brought my mom here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. We really enjoyed the food and the service was great! Our server was super attentive and very friendly. Our plate portions were very generous and the ingredients were fresh. I ordered the linguine with clams and it came exactly how I requested--sans butter. It was still aromatic and delicious! We'll definite keep visiting this place--great to support small businesses!

I have only eaten here twice, but my second time will probably be my last. My first visit to Baci's included good food and good service (from Kyle). During my second visit, the experience was not so great. I brought one of my good friends along to try the place since she had never been before. Our first reaction was that everything on the menu was pretty pricey, definitely pricier than I remembered from my first visit. Kyle was our waiter again, but we could tell he was a bit standoff-ish towards us. Was not very friendly and personable like how he was during my first visit, but maybe he was just not having his best day. After placing our orders (my friend ordered Chicken Rigatoni and I ordered the Clam Linguine Pasta), Kyle told us he would bring us some bread while we wait. 15-20 minutes passes by... we finally got our meals, but no bread in between, so we had to ask. No apology or anything for the wait. We also didn't get checked up on very much throughout our meal, maybe only once. (We went on a Tuesday night, it was not busy at all.) My friend said her Chicken Rigatoni tasted good, but the Clam Linguine Pasta I ordered was definitely not worth the $21 that it's marked for on the menu. It wasn't a very big portion and the dish completely lacked any flavor (there was supposed to be some added spice with chili flakes... couldn't really taste any spice at all.) Overall, my second visit to Baci's was a disappointment, which was unfortunate because I really loved the food and experience I had the first time around.

I have used them consistently and keep coming back because the quality and freshness is great! The fact that they deliver makes it that much better with our busy lifestyles. Over the last year, I questioned one item and they were so quick to want to fix it, and make me happy-that speaks volumes about their customer service. We will continue to be an ordering happy customer here in Blackhawk. I encourage all to try them!

They have pretty nice menu, even with gluten free pasta options. I tried their Greek salad - it was somewhat bland. I think the dressing needs more lemon. I also tried their mussels and they were excellent. The decor is very nice. I loved the water they bring to your table with fresh lemons and mint. Tasted so good. Service was very good. I even got happy hour discount :-) Thank you MJ. I'll be back again...

I've been here a few times with my boyfriend. They have outdoor seating, which is nice on a warm evening. Service has always been outstanding. My only complaint is with the very limited selection of vegetarian dishes. I'm accustomed to only having one or two items to choose from at a restaurant, but more restaurants these days are making more vegetarian friendly entrees. Baci's selection feels very limited by comparison. I ordered their tortellini during my last visit, but the dish was overwhelmed by parmesan cheese, so I won't order it again. They offer spaghetti, but only with bolognese sauce. Once I did have a "special" dish made that was not on the menu of some pasta, marinara sauce and veggies and it was wonderful. And it should be on the menu. They also removed a polenta w/ marinara sauce from their menu, which I had also loved. While it's great they can accommodate when asked, I'm always uncomfortable with even having to ask because I don't want to be one of "those" customers. It would be nice if a little room was put aside on the menu to let their patrons know they are available.

Welcome to the neighborhood Baci Café! Checked Yelp to see if I was missing anything in the area and saw a few reviews for Baci Café, the newish Italian café from Pleasanton which has taken over the Strizzi's location across from Blackhawk plaza. Made a reservation on Open Table (thanks Fern D--I saw that in your review and love getting my points) and we were off to try something new. And try something new we did. I had a chicken sandwich which was chicken, melted swiss, tomatoes, lettuce and honey mustard on a soft brioche roll. I had this with a Caesar and we added a side of mac & cheese (not my idea....oh wait it probably was). So the sandwich was ok as was my Caesar. I would probably order something else next time since it just paled in comparison to the bite of beet salad I had and the AMAZING Macaroni and cheese. The Mac & Cheese is SO GOOD it deserves it's own paragraph. Gorgonzola, mozzarella, and parmesan in it's finest form with the softest, freshest macaroni...and how can you make that better? Well you add bacon;) This is probably (Mom, please skip the next part) the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. And it's only $4 to add to any salad, sandwich, lunch main! So for a new café that takes reservations on Open Table, has a great beet salad, not to mention macaroni & cheese that will blow your mind, Yay! I'm a Fan! SO PLEASED AND HAPPY that we found this precious little gem of a restaurant. A little fancier than I anticipated, though, and I felt uncomfortable in jeans and flip-flops (oops!). Next time, I vow to step it up a notch with my dress code. The café is on the corner in the little shopping strip across from the Blackhawk Shopping Plaza in Danville. The walls are decorated in black and white photos of European destinations paired with some vibrant red accent walls. The place was clean, well-maintained and was very inviting. We were promptly seated, even without a reservation (I would recommend making reservations on weekends). We have prompt, friendly service and our waiter was knowledgeable and charming. I had the Atlantic Grilled Salmon which was served with freshly steamed veggies and a side of asparagus risotto. The salmon was bursting with flavor, and completely blew my expectations out of the water. Some of the best salmon I have had, I kid you not. My boyfriend went with the Carbonara, and an excellent choice at that. It was creamy, fresh, and had a perfect balance of flavors. Not to mention, the bacon was perfectly rendered and mastered the plate. We enjoyed everything about our experience here, and cannot WAIT to come back again to try something new. Wonderful!

Bacci café here in Danville has become our favorite place to dine in our area. The Bolognese sauce is the best I've been able to find for a long time recently my wife and I were dining and Kyle our waiter suggested we try The braised short ribs which was the special of the day, the best short ribs i've ever had in my life. They came with a little bit of mashed potatoes, braised flavored gravy sauce, and caramelized onions with a wonderful flavor to top it off. On another occasion Kyle suggested one of his favorite dishes which was the Mac and cheese which took me by surprise because I always equated Mac and cheese with children. However, Kyle assured us that his version would work for us he suggested we substitute cheese tortellini for the Mac, try it you'll think you've died and gone to heaven. The restaurant is small so my wife Peri and I like to get there at 5 o'clock just after they open so we have the opportunity to chat with the employees they truly treat us like family. It's casual dining with the flavor of a fine restaurant. Try it you'll love it. By the way, ask for Kyle he knows what's good. Mel and Peri Valdez Danville

My fiancé and I ate here last night for dinner. I've been hesitant to try this place because the reviews are mediocre....however it was late and we were starving so we stopped in. What a mistake! Our server was nice enough, however after taking our order and promising us bread, she disappeared for 20 minutes. Thank god I was in good company and enveloped in conversation. When I realized how long we had been waiting ( mind you the restaurant was near empty) I eyeballed the restaurant and saw her chatting by the kitchen with a coworker. After a friendly stare- down, she came over and I requested the bread we had been waiting for. About 5 minutes later a bus boy dropped off a basket of bread. Then immediately after our food arrived. We had ordered shrimp scampi and a rigatoni with chicken dish. The server dropped off our food without asking if we wanted any Parmesan on top. First bite of both dishes- no flavor. Both were bland and severely wanting of everything! We scarfed our food because we were starving, then when we were about 2/3 done, the server walks over and asks if we would like some Parmesan!!! Really? If I had it in the beginning, it def could have helped with the flavor issues, but at this point we were over it! My advice is if you want mediocre Italian, try Olive Garden, at least you will get better service, the bill will be half the price and you will get your unlimited breadsticks immediately!!!

The food is good but they have recently bumped up their prices. We have eaten here before and loved it but tonight we were suuuuper disappointed with takeout. Prices were ridiculous for the portions, we didn't realize til we got home and opened it up. We couldn't believe how little food we got for $80. We ended up bringing it back and spoke to the chef/manager. She stood by what she gave us. We are not ones to complain and have never brought back food or sent a plate back to the kitchen but not exaggerating it was unbelievable. If that's how it's going to be then we won't go back. It's a shame bc we really enjoy the food. :(

Somehow I think the takeout/delivery might be better than sitting in. The waiters are a little green. Ours was nice enough but we barely saw him. All our food came out at separate times and they served the adults before the children..like way before the children and that is always a pet peeve of mine. One of the hostesses snapped at my 8 year old when she asked if we could sit at a booth, which was a bit awkward. Service was very slow as well. Wonder if it's because so many people do take out... But, the food was fabulous. I had the salmon and my husband had the pork chops. Both were wonderful. So kudos to the chef. I think we'll do take out next time, but we'll definitely give it another try.

After a very enjoyable day on Mt. Diablo, my husband and I were hungry and tired. We had heard that there was a 'new' Baci in Danville so we decided to try it since our favorite restaurants in Pleasanton are Baci and Cafe Main. Baci Cafe lived up to the standards of great fresh food beautifully presented that is set by the two restaurants in Pleasanton! ** Seeing Kyle and Casey again was a real treat as well :D ** The atmosphere is a chic Euro casual with cool Venice murals on the walls (photographed by manager Kyle himself), comfy booths filled with families and sports games being played on TV; but the food is fancy-faire quality like you would expect at a shirt-and-tie restaurant. I had the pork chop which was perfectly seasoned and cooked, washed down with a wonderful Manhattan Kyle made for me, and my husband had the Lasagne with Chianti, which was the best comfort food after a long day on the mountainside. We are so glad we thought of looking up the 'new' Baci. It was a lovely way to end a lovely day. We'll be back!! ;)

Food is pretty good, way too expensive. It's a little cafe in a strip mall, they should remember that. Service is horrible. The table next to us was not cleared and cleaned for 1/2hr. Not very appetizing. Bread came 20 mins later, kids fed first, which is nice, but then we sat for another 20 mins before ours arrived. Then we were ignored. It took so long, over an hour, the kids didn't get their ice cream. We just asked for the check and then left. No one seemed to care.

I dont really splurge, but today was my one year anniversary with the woman i took here on our 1st date. I like the last time i ate here as well as the 2nd. Im happy it all went smooth and that our server was pretty chill and was friendly. The bread they bring tastes so damn good. I found that the portion you get is a little bit on the small side. But i guess thats how the rich eat...or maybe im another american who eats to much. Overall i recommend this place if you're in Pleasanton. Its really good italian food.

We eat here regularly because it is convenient and we can usually get in without a reservation. Unfortunately, both the service and the food are a bit inconsistent. The busier they get the better the service it seems and it is highly dependent upon who you get. The meals are usually pretty good but the menu change has seen some of our favorites taken off and the replacements are a bit disappointing. The last time I was there I had the roasted chicken, which was fried not roasted, and the roasted brussel sprouts which came to the table soggy and oil soaked; both were a tremendous disappointment. All-in-all we continue to go here because it is convenient and when the food is good, it is usually really good. They are also one of the few places where you can get a glass of Justin Paso Robles by the glass, a huge plus!

We had dinner there last night for the first time. They're across the street from where we live, but we decided to eat in rather than take-out or get dinner delivered to give them a true and fair test of quality; take-out food is hard to judge because it often loses something in the presentation and time lag to arrive on your plate. Apparently as many people do take-out as come there to dine however. Because last night they were slammed with both Friday night dinner patrons and to-go orders. We ended up waiting well over 30 minutes to be seated and got a ringside seat to the madness of take out orders coming out of the kitchen. Everything smelled great and we were getting hungrier by the minute, so the long wait, the chaos of people coming and going with bags of food, and the noise level in the dining room were getting to me. The overworked, but still smiling, hostess could sense we were not happy and asked if she could buy us a drink while we waited. Having researched pretty much all the wines on their wine list on my phone while we waited and being pretty disappointed at the selections for the prices, I said, "we *were* going to order a bottle with dinner of the only wine that looked good to us..." She asked which one and I told her, and she brought us out the bottle and said "it's on me." That was unexpected, and really did make up for the delays and seemingly random wait list. But would the food be worth the wait was the real question. I can for sure say YES, it was worth the wait. We had four things (the beet salad, the tuna tartare, clams with linguine, and the veal piccata) and each of them was flavorful, well prepared and presented and priced right. The only thing I didn't really care for was the bread, which had the right texture, crispy crust with soft insides, but had zero flavor. We ate the whole basket before the meal came however because by the time we were seated, we were starving. So, despite the rocky start, the attention to customer service and the food will bring us back. Or maybe we'll just have them deliver. Welcome to the neighborhood Baci!

Really enjoy this little cafe. Servers all have a great demeanor and service is great. Highly recommend the spinach and pear salad, as well as the Caesar and caprese salad. Our waitress had a great recommendation to try the caprese with cucumber instead of the cracker and it was delicious! If carbs aren't an issue, try the Mac-n-cheese, lasagna, carbonara, and/or pesto penne. They could improve on their wine selection.

Well, I am going to try my best to be civil, but the service and food at this place is below par for what they charge. Came in on Valentines night, the place was less than half full. Ordered calamari app and 2 entrees. No wine since we drank at the house. Calamari is a mix of squid and onion rings. About 70/30 in favor of onions. The entrees came about an hour later and the place was only half full, if even that. My Chicken was way overcooked and salty though my girls Cioppino was OK.... 3 dishes and $80 dollars? Took 90 minutes? Not even booze? The previous time we ordered just soup and split a caesar salad. that and 2 glasses of wine came to $70 without tip.....It also was a 90 minute meal for soup! The staff needs to be more in tune and attentive. They are all young 20's elevated from a fast food restuarant maybe.....I will not return as there are so many others in the area that can do better....looks like Strizzi's part 2. Best wishes!

My family came in last night, we were greeted right away and had to wait a few minutes for a table but we didn't make a reservation so it was ok. I had the beef Wellington and it was amazing, I was a bit scared at first and it was a bit pricey but definitely worth it. I ate the whole thing. My husband had the cioppino and he had no complaints, again pretty pricey. The chef came out later, (I think it was the chef) she was great. We would come back just to talk to her again. We live around the corner so it's nice to be able to go out for a good dinner and not have to travel far.

I live across the street so its very convenient and the food is very good. BUT, I think, no, I KNOW it is WAY over priced for a strip mall restaurant with the ambiance of a fast food restaurant that has sports television on the wall. The lobster ravioli is very good, but if I'm going to pay that high of a price, I'd rather go downtown to eat, and be outside near a fire with live music playing. A higher price is worth it for a nice restaurant downtown, but I view this restaurant as mostly a neighborhood grab and go type place. I always get take out as I don't see it as a lovely restaurant with all the charms of Italy. It's more like a Max's diner, with sports. I think the only reason they stay in business is because we are stuck paying their prices just for the convenience of popping in at the last minute. The food is good, but they should either up their ambiance, or lower the food prices. They aren't ready to play with the "Big Boys" just yet.

Our reservation was ignored from Open Table. They sat other people because we brought our own wine. I was more than willing to pay the corkage fee. This place is better run without the greedy owner there. He instructed us to leave.....Wow..The food is just OK. We go because it was convenient. This is the first time we brought our wine. Every other time things were fine when we were spending $18.00 per drink.

Sad, my friends made a reservation and we turned up on time and they had double booked our table. They sat a family ahead of us who didn't have a reservation, then told us it would be at least thirty minutes before another table would become available. Will not be going back here again.

I recommend reservations for this place, it gets pretty crowded & it is very small. Food is okay. Service is soooooooooooo slow!!! Been here twice, thinking it was just that ONE day, but it is ALWAYS slow. I belive they put priority on orders to go/delivery, so if you are at the restaurant....you are gonna wait! Kinda odd since they seem to have a ton of wait staff roaming all over the place. Like I said, food was okay, nothing extraordinary but the service waaaay to slow...slow enough for 2 stars or less.

This is a really convenient location. They have a really nice wine selection. Their kids menu is a little challenging as it doesn't have some of the basics and their service tends to be very slow

Had a great lunch there this week. I had the cobb salad. Especially good blue cheese dressing and super fresh. Perfect portion size too and reasonable price. Cucumber/lemon water is a nice touch. Love the atmosphere: it's bright, contemporary, open and has friendly service. Great layout for families and love the high top tables for 2-4 people. Love that there's outside seating as well. I need to get here for dinner!

I took my wife and daughter here for dinner after her first dance recital. First, service was slow, really slow. I ordered the rack of lamb. I asked for medium rare. It came out medium well. Now, I'm not the type to normally complain. Typically, if I don't like a meal I just won't come back. In this case it was bad enough to complain. I was hungry and our waitress was no where to be found, so I powered through about half the meal before I saw the waitress came back. When given the check I asked if they could do "something" considering the poor meal and service. I didn't ask for my meal to be fully comp'd. I just said "something" figuring they would take off one glass of wine or something as gesture. The waitress said she needed to check with her manager. Fair enough. She came back and to tell me they wouldn't take anything at all off since I ate more than half the meal. (BTW - that more than half was mostly rice and the side salad, not the lamb which was terrible). At that point I asked for the manager to speak with me in person. Instead, he sent the waitress back to again tell me they wouldn't take anything off the meal and handed me a small gift card for the next time I come back. What don't they get at this point... they have an upset customer who simply wants to talk to the manager about how they can improve and he's too afraid to come over and talk? He wasn't busy, he was just standing there in back of the room. In summary - horrible service, backed up by even worse management. Mistakes happen. It's part of the restaurant business. It's how you deal with customers when you make a mistake that matters most. In that area, Baci Cafe needs a change in leadership and empower their staff to make small customer satisfaction decisions. I will not go back to this place until it's under new management.

I've driven past Baci Cafe countless times since they've opened. I had been meaning to try it for quite some time and finally decided to order take out on the way home. Since I got take out, I can't really comment too much on service. When I arrived to pick up the food, they were friendly enough, albeit the hostess was always looking away (or at least not making eye contact) when talking to me. Not a big deal, just something I noticed. I ordered the roasted free-range half chicken. It was... dry. And chaotic. For better or for worse, I really couldn't care less if chicken is free range or not, as long as it tastes good. With that said, you can certainly taste the difference in the quality of meat, but ultimately, if it's not prepared well, it might as well have been KFC-grown chicken. The chicken was very dry on the outside and mostly dry on the inside too. And although I picked this up to go, it was still pretty warm (warmer than lukewarm) when I got home with it. I can't imagine the chicken was THAT much more moist or juicy if I had eaten it in the restaurant. Moreover, for a restaurant that boasts a strong value proposition of delivery to all of Danville, I'm not sure if they're even owed the benefit of assuming it would be better hot. If delivery is a big component of their offering, their food should travel well. Normally, I can get past dry chicken if the sauce is good and I can just smother the chicken with flavor. The problem here was that the flavors were all over the place. They took a fairly simple concept, chicken and capers with mashed potatoes, and blasted it with various kinds of competing flavors. The result is an inconsistency in the sauce and flavor of the dish, which just didn't do it for me. The acidity was out of control. Even for someone like myself who enjoys strong, non-sweet flavors and tastes, this was too much and not in a good way. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed. I was hoping to like the food, as it would have been a pretty convenient place for me to stop in at once a week. I'll probably give it another try and see if it was just an off night or if they're better with their steaks. If so, I'll adjust or not adjust my score accordingly.

Extremely disappointed. Seems to have gone downhill since they hired a new cook. The prices are way too high for not so good food. At Piattis you can get much better food and ambience for the same price. The roast chicken is ten times better at Piattis. Never will we go back.

Our new favorite restaurant!!! We decided to try Baci last Sunday afternoon. What a wonderful experience we had. Our lunch was delicious...and my husband can be pretty picky. Our sandwiches and salads were so flavorful with a great portion. Our kids had the Build-Your-Own Pasta. They chose penne with marinara sauce and meatballs. They absolutely loved it. They even ended their meal with a yummy scoop of ice cream that was included with their meal. Really nice ambiance as well, and I have to mention that our waiter was fantastic. Very attentive and friendly. It made for an all around wonderful lunch. We'll definitely be back here soon!

We had a great dinner here last night. I had the Chicken Milano entree, which consists of chicken, sun dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and pasta in a white wine sauce and sprinkled with parmesan. It was really good and got devoured by several people (portions are large). My only complaint is that it had been tossed in too much olive oil and bit greasy for me. I am sure that this a kink they are working out and would not be afraid to order it again. The Chicken Marsala that I have eaten at the Pleasanton location was absent and missed (I remember it being heaven on a plate). But no matter what, I will be back again for sure. The menu was loaded with things I want to try and it is a perfect atmosphere for families. Service was great and overall, a thumbs up and wonderful meal. See you soon, Baci!!!

Great neighborhood spot. Lively atmosphere. Get a bit loud inside, but that's what makes it fun! Just go early if you're taking your older Dad who doesn't hear to well. They also have a few tables outside. Food has been great. We even periodically get takeout which arrives in decent condition although the minimum order is $40, a lot of food for two people! The only "eh" entree we've ever ordered is the penne pasta with chicken. I could have made it at home. Other pastas and protein meals have been great. Service has always been great, but 3 stars since I brought a coupon in a few weeks late and they didn't honor it. I mean c'mon. Aren't you looking to establish local regulars as clientele??? Give me my periodic $10 off to keep me comin'!

My friend Robert and I came back for Happy Hour and MJ was our fabulous server. All the food and drinks were 25% off, so Robert insisted that I get a glass of Danville Crack(Rombauer Chardonnay), my favorite wine. It's pricey, but hey, it was 25% off! We shared a greek salad(delish!). MJ talked Robert into getting the Mango Ahi Tuna Tartar. I was a little bit in shock, because Robert doesn't eat raw fish. But, he loved it!!! It was sooo good, it rivals Va de Vi's Ahi Tartare! I had the Baci Macaroni and Cheese (gorgonzola, mozzarella, parmescan cheese, peas and Applewood bacon). OMG! Thank you Robin L for recommending it! Definitely the best mac and cheese I ever had!

We used to go to this location when it was Strizzis. This place is hip and fun inside. Kitchen is right there so you can see the food being prepared. Wonderful, attentive service. Great menu with lots to choose from. I had the special (cajun chicken with linguini and my family all had the salmon special (stuffed with crab) it also came with risotto. Prices are ok....$15-25.00. Salads are separate. They also had chicken and beef dishes with an Italian flair. I would come here again.

I should known better to try Baci's again after I did not really care for the Pleasanton location, as I previously reviewed. My mom and I met up for dinner with the intention of dining at Ferrari's across the street, but due to the summer concert, we were not able to get a table. Because she really wanted Italian, we ended up here. The location is inviting and great for a group, and our service was great, but we both agreed that the food is meh...nothing to write home about. I ordered the clam chowder to start and we shared the lasagna and pesto penne, finished off with a dessert that our server affectionately referred to as "a little hockey puck" - a trio of layered mousses, which was the best thing we ate. If you are used to eating homemade Italian like I am, then this is not the place for you. I find the food to be very Americanized and basic...and after visits at both locations, I don't think I'll be returning.

We decided to try this place out to celebrate the start of the school year for our kids. We had checked the menu out online, and the menu looked good. There were $6 kids meals and some cocktails listed online. Alas neither turned to be true here in Blackhawk. Our sever was friendly though, for we felt welcomed immediately. When we got our menus, we noticed that the prices for children's meals were different than what was stated online. All of the meals on the children's menu were listed $10, not $6. We decided to just go ahead and see how it came out, and were very disappointed. The kid's pasta bowls were not even worth $10. They didn't come with bread sticks or even dessert. They were a child's small bowl, and, for $1 more, our kids could have got a HUGE hamburger with a huge side of fries a la the classic burger. We ordered "gourmet" hamburgers four ourselves, but they were not as good as they should be (bland, blah flavors and all). We *may* go back, but we will have the kids to share a hamburger the next time. And we will just have some cocktails when we return home.

Tried this place with friends last night and thought it was great! My scampi linguini was fantastic and the service was excellent. Would give it five stars but they could have a better wine list and take it easy on the wine prices :-) Baci will definitely be a repeat.

I love this place...I loved it in Pleasanton and was so happy to know they were opening in Danville...just wish they would bring the bacon wrapped shrimp to Danville too...hint hint Mike :) Their food is amazing...I have gone in twice since they opened. The crab cakes are to die for and so is their calamari. The lobster ravioli and caprese salad are yummy and so is their tuna sandwich. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is more than inviting. All in all, the food is filled with much flavor and cooked with love....Everyone should try this place and give Kudos to the owner, Mike and his staff for opening yet another great restaurant!!!!

My husband and I had dinner at Baci Cafe this past Friday night (which I believe was the official opening night). We absolutely loved it. We shared the Mango Ahi Tuna Tartar to start and it was fantastic. The ingredients were fresh and the portion size was quite large. I had the Grilled Salmon and my husband had the Lobster Ravioli. We were both extremely happy with our dinners. My salmon was done perfectly and the sauce was flavorful but not overpowering. The decor is contemporary and casual...perfect for date night or a family dinner. We found the staff to be very attentive and competent. We were impressed at how well the service flowed for being an opening night. We are so excited to have a great lunch/dinner choice in our neighborhood and we have already told many of our friends.

Picked up linguini carbonara & let me just say...HORRIBLE!!! The sauce looked more like a mashed potato & the flavor...well...there is NO flavor. For $15, they could've seasoned it. I've been in this place a few times & each time, I've been disappointed. The only reason why I kept going back was to give the place another chance & try other things on the menu. This is definitely the last time.

We tried Baci this week for a date night. We had been to the Pleasanton location a couple of times and hated the former tenet, Strizzi's so we were looking forward to trying it. We like that they are on Open Table. The atmosphere was cheery with bold black and white decor and bright red accent walls. They did a nice job on the remodel. The booths were comfy too. Our server, Lenea was a gem. 80s music was playing. (Not so Italian Bistro to me?) We ordered the wedge salad to share, ahi tuna entree and the half chicken entree. The salad was yummy. We also were given warm bread which is a sort of acid test for us. Love the warm bread! I had been looking forward to a Mohito they had featured on the FB page but it turns out they only have beer and wine for now at this location. Seems as if there is only one FB page for both spots. The food and service were really good and we will be back. The only thing that rubbed us the wrong way was the odd $1.50 charge for us sharing the salad. Really? We share salads all the time and never get charged for it. It seemed kind of nickle and diming us to be honest. We were also not big fans of the large screen TVs over the food bar with ESPN, etc. although sound was not on. Since it's not a Sports Bar, it was a little confusing to us and brought the ambiance down a little for a couple's night. All in all the food was yummy but the ambiance of the Pleasanton location is missing in our opinion. The TVs just aren't necessary. Plenty of other restaurants around if you want to watch sports :) Thanks Lenea! See you soon.

This neighborhood has needed a good restaurant for a hundred years! It's finally here. Great ambiance. Easy seating. It's open all day and doesn't close till 9 p.m. Hooray! A bunch of big screen TV's on the wall for solo eaters. That was me. I had a blue cheese burger and "extra crispy" fries, and everything was fabulous. This place should really please my friend Kevin N. He's a very finnicky eater, and he's prone to walk out if a restaurant is not good. We'll see if he stays here to complete his meal.

Not thrilled! Steak sandwich came out first well done instead of medium rare. Waitress had it remade and the second one was cooked right but not enough steak. Very few slices instead of a whole steak like so many other restaurants give you. Fries were oily. Probably won't be back.

Baci restaurant is a neighborhood restaurant that is hit or miss based on the night. It appears that they have a new chef and she is great. The challenge at this restaurant is the owner cannot keep wait staff and the service is very very slow. Since this is my neighborhood restaurant I have been here on many occasions and I have had good meals at this restaurant and I have had so-so meals at this restaurant. The turnover amongst the cooking and the wait staff is very high. This usually means that the wages are not very high and the wait staff seems to be always understaffed.I have had food that has been good and I have had evenings where the food is not very good. The restaurant is always understaffed or the owner hires inexperienced wait staff and does not train them. This is why the service is always slow and very poor. There has been some good wait staff and either they have been moved over to the Pleasanton location or they have left. I do understand the challenge that the owner has since it is very hard to hire good employees in the area who have a great work ethic since this area breeds spoiled and entitled young adults who are not raised with a great work ethic. Usually if cooks and wait staff do not stay this usually means that management does not know how to train employees or the wages are too low for the work effort. On certain evenings this restaurant can get very busy and they always seem to be understaffed. I believe that this restaurant gets very good take out service and this makes up for the lack of service provided in the restaurant. This restaurant could be so much better but the service has always been slow and the food is spotty based on not being able to hold onto good chefs.

This is a great local spot for dinner! We have been wanting to try Baci for quite some time and finally had the opportunity tonight. We had the calamari to start, a very generous portion with a tasty aioli dip. My husband has the bistro steak and I has the veal Parmesan. Over all, the food was very fresh and the service was prompt and courteous. This is a great local spot for dinner.

Sorry after giving this place three chances - the overall service and food is extremely disappointing. First two times we tried - we couldn't even get seated. 1st time - We we're ignore for 10 tens minutes and then when I finally got my name in the lady at the counter is completely confused and chaotic. 2nd time - did not fair much better was ignored again and couldn't get a seat In a timely manner without it being busy. We finally on third try - got to sample their food. We had lasagna, burger and lava cake. The food was plain and boring. The lasagna was same quality as Safeway frozen aisle. The only thing good was the lava cake. So disappointed since it nice to have choices as we live next to the shopping area.

I really like the interior of this restaurant, clean and modern. I noticed they have a full bar so next time I go in I'll have to try one of the martinis. But who makes them? Bartender or just a server? Makes me nervous. Love love the Mac and cheese! Wings with the chipotle sauce is really good too. I wasn't a fan of the fish though. I'll give it another try next time. Service was just ok. Waited a while for our check at the end and bread took a while to come to the table. Overall I really like this place and my only advice would be to keep up the good customer service. It will bring me and I'm sure a lot more people back regularly.

Came for the soft opening and it was busy with anticipation. Customers lining outside the doors eager to try out the new place that replaced Strizzis. The clock struck 5:30 and the doors opened up. The decor is much nicer than before. More contemporary. When we finally got seated our table had salt scattered about and the booth bench had bread crumbs. Really? We ordered onion rings and they were ok. They were thick and greasy. I ordered the Halibut salad with grilled pineapple and kiwi salsa they had pictured on their Facebook page. Surprisingly our waitress said its not on the dinner menu and she had to ask if they could make it. I was excited to try it when she said they could. Well, it was disappointing. The Facebook picture of the salad showed romaine lettuce. Mine had iceberg with spinach. And mine was seriously lacking flavor! No dressing or it was too light and all collected at the bottom. It lacked freshness. I felt I was chewing on grass. The halibut was decent. Cooked just right but could use some more oil. The salsa was missing the kiwi and lacked ripe mango flavor. It was not executed well. Bummer. I do hope they improve the freshness factor and maybe I'll try again in a few months.

The hostess is real nice and friendly and we have always had tremendous service here. They value your business and truly want you to have a good experience. The food is pretty good but not excellent. Lunch prices are good and dinner prices are a bit high. I like the tuna sandwich for lunch.

This was the first time I came to this restaurant and I loved it. The atmosphere was awesome. The entire staff was friendly and efficient. I love Italian food and this place exceeded my expectations. The lobster ravioli was rich and delicious. The portions are big/great. I am only a visitor to the area, but next time I am here I will definitely come back and bring friends!

Been there 3 times just to evaluate them fairly. Food is consistently of poor to fair quality. Had very dry chicken on the Chicken Salad. Has Clam Chowder with no clams. And the pasta and sauces are average. They are pricey for the quality of food.

This was our first visit to Baci since they opened. Strizzi's, formerly in this location, was a favorite of ours. We read the yelp reviews, mostly good, some not. We got there early, knowing they got busy. We didn't have a reservation, but the table we got was fine, and we didn't have to wait. The food was very good, the service was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Our waiter answered all of our questions patiently, and the timing of the food was just right, not too quick, not too slow. Only negative, it's a little noisy, because of the acoustics, (lots of hard surfaces, floor, walls and ceiling) and it's hard to have a good conversation. I've heard that architects and interior designers do that on purpose, they think it's a good thing "noise is energy". That's not my preference, but it's not a big deal, so we will definitely return, and we'll get there early again to beat the rush.

Okay Baci! If at first you don't succeed, try and try again! And I did and you did! Thanks so much for a terrific lunch of Mahi Mahi on a bed of red peppers, asparagus, and rissoto this afternoon. Wow! It literally fell off my fork while perfectly seasoned and exceptionally presented. Admittedly, I found the noise level overbearing in my first appearance at your restaurant but I am glad I returned! You've earned a follower!

Great customer service and great location. The food was just "ok". The pasta was very plain and did not have much flavor.

This place is not good. I ordered the Caesar salad and fried calamari. The salad tasted OK, but the lettuce was already browning on the edges. The calamari was an overcooked salt lick, with no other taste. Each of the 3 kids ordered a kid's pasta. The portions were tiny. Luckily, one kid wasn't very hungry to begin with because a 2nd kid ate both portions and she is an average eater. The best part of the meal was the compliementary bread and the ice cream from the kid's meal.

Finally, a restaurant in the Blackhawk area that actually provides very good food at reasonable prices. The lunch and dinner menus are packed with a variety of options. I have been here 3 times and never been disappointed. The service was first rate, the food was delivered quickly and hot. A definite go to.

Came in on Saturday night - disappointed compared to the last time in. Wife had the Chicken piccata. It was literally covered with mushrooms vs. complimentary addition. The sauce was bland at best and you couldn't taste any wine or the effects of reduction which makes a piccata sauce so flavorful. I had the Specialty house made meat sauce known as the BACI'S SPAGHETTI BOLOGNESE WITH MEATBALLS - and was also disappointed. Sauce was OK at best but it hardly was a bolognese - it was way too thin for that. The spaghetti itself (I believe) was out of a box that was boiled vs. being homemade/scratch made. For $16 I don't expect packaged pasta - disappointing. Finally, our server was either new or just very bad. HIs biggest mistake(s) he never came and checked up on us after he brought us our meals - which when he did I asked for Parmesan cheese (who doesn't serve that with homemade pasta?) and he never came back with it or at all until it was time to pay the bill.

My husband and I tried Baci on a Friday night. We were pleased to see the place was busy...always a good sign and we had a reservation. We split a salad, crab cakes, and pasta carbonara (paid the extra charge to split). The food was delicious and servings were generous. We also enjoyed the fresh bread. The only downsides were the excessive noise level (bad acoustics/decor) and televisions over the bar. I go out to relax and we found that a little difficult in this setting.

Went with another couple on a Wednesday night. Two of us had the salmon- generous portions of fish with above average risotto. I had the chicken parm- most satisfying, with no greasy aftertaste. The other diner with us ordered chicken piccata. We both agreed that the pasta was cooked correctly and we all enjoyed the vegetable garnishes. This place could be very noisy, as it is the victim of the latest restaurant decor trim of creating caves of hard surfaces. As our unlamented former governor said, "We will be bock."

  • L M.

Disappointing. Service very slow despite there being lots of staff. Spagetti bolognese arrived without the meatballs. It was luke warm, as was my husband's lasagna. Staff did bring the meatballs eventually and didn't charge us for them. Would have liked the server to follow up after bringing food, as wanted to ask for chili pepper or something to liven up my dish. Bread was really good, soft and warm. Won't be going back.

Had a great dinner with friends! We tried several appetizers, and a variety of dinner entrees...all were great. The price point was was fair, service was great, and food tastes great. I had the blackened halibut, and tuna tartare both were perfectly prepared. And they had a kids menu, making it a great stop for dinner or lunch after activities with the kids. They also deliver?!?! Crazy and awesome.

Kids meal at $10 is just too much! Piatti only charges $7 and it is a fun pizza making meal. I got the chicken pasta with artichoke it was ok. Chicken was very tender, but there were too much canned artichoke that made the dish taste too sour. calamari in the appetizer can be better too. It tastes thick and don't like the fried onion and lemon slices in it. Also we were not told you would charge $1.50 for splitting a pasta. I ordered a meat sauce spaghetti but you gave me meatballs and charged us $3 more. I might go back and give a second chance, but won't bring the kids there.

We went here for dinner on Friday night. The restaurant was packed and I was relieved I made a reservation on Open Table in advance. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The restaurant was a little loud so that was not as pleasant. The menu is extensive with lots of choices for all tastebuds. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese and a cup ot tomato soup. The food was yummy including the complimentary bread. However, I did not like the tomato bruschetta very much...too much balsamic glaze. Service was fast and friendly and prieces are moderate so no complaints there. I would definitely recommend the restauarant.

  • Maria C.

We decided to give it a try since it's a neighborhood restaurant but was disappointed. Ferrari's at the Blackhawk plaza is so much more superior and less expensive! Their bruschetta was soggy. Had a Vegetarian Pesto pasta and it was salty and too saucy. Veal picatta was also salty. We were never asked if we wanted parmesan cheese or fresh pepper. I think they do quantity over quality. Don't think we'll be back.

Went for lunch after hearing good things about this place, Was hard to find, but was worth it. Appetizers were well proportioned. Tuna tartare was excellently flavored and made me want more. The beet salad beautifully balanced with ample beets and tasteful dressing. The pasta dish was slightly heavy on the sauce but I still ate it all, it was so good. The service was excellent, very attentive, but not overbearing. And there were many gluten free options! Will definitely go back real soon.
