I've been here three times, and all three times I've ordered the same thing. So this review is solely on the Lion King Roll and service. It's delicious!! I always want to try something else, but every time I try I always think about how delicious the lion king roll is....and I end up order it instead of trying something new lol. Maybe next time, I'll try something new. The service here is pretty decent. I've never had to wait to be seated, and I've been here on a week night, as well as on a Friday and Saturday night. On Friday nights, they have a live 'DJ', but he doesn't really do much lol.

Sad to say the quality of this restaurant has lowered. This place is very different than what it was when it first opened and the quality of food/service shows. I came here with some friends, glancing at the menu I didn't feel like ordering the overpriced rolls so I decided on the lunch bento box ( surprisingly decently priced). I went for the spicy tuna roll and vegetable tempura. Spicy tuna- This was not spicy at all and the fish quality was poor. (Thankfully I didn't get sick) Tempura- Disgusting, very hard to eat because it was so battered and friend. Sad but not surprised the service was terrible! Not once did the waitress come by to check on our table.. She just plopped the food down and left. No interaction with us at all. She seemed very cold and rude. There are better sushi places in this area. Choose wisely.

I went to this restaurant for a quick lunch as I only had 45 minutes before an appointment and figured a simple bento box couldn't take too long. Wrong! I was served promptly and placed my drink and food order at the same time. Beer and miso soup arrived within 5 minutes but it took almost exactly 40 minutes for my sushi and sashimi bento box to arrive. Granted the place was busy but that just doesn't work for those of us with time limitations. Sushi and sashimi were good but not so enjoyable when rushed.

It's right across my apartment, so I frequent here when I want a roll. so far I've had hamachi nigiri, california roll, a roll with hamachi (I forgot the name) and another roll I really liked but forgot what it's called/made of. Their california roll is made with real crab which is now my favorite. I also really like their hamchi here s well. As for the roll with hamachi, I didn't like it so much because it tasted like mushed hamachi with spicy mayo sauce. I feel like their rolls are a hit or miss here but their entrees such as Chicken Tatsu and Yakatori are well made and seasoned

I am very unhappy with the way Ozora treated my baby girl and her boyfriend who were here for lunch spending their own hard-earned money. Ozora rushed them, wouldn't wait to take their orders simultaneously, brought the check at the same time as their food, and stopped helping them as soon as they paid (yes, including tip). They had to walk up to the counter to ask for a to-go box for their leftovers. It's not cool to treat young people like they are less than, especially when they are being respectful paying customers just like the rest of your clientele. Maybe Ozora thought it was okay to look down on their youth, but young people grow into adults every day! Not the kind of treatment I would expect from one of the priciest sushi restaurants in the area.

I'll give this place a star or two just for the lunch special pricing ($13.95 for 3 items including soup, salad, and rice). But for the actual food itself, I don't recommend unless you're are willing to compromise quality. It's a shame I had such a bad experience. After seeing reviews on their amazing happy hour and night scene, I would have loved to like this place. For the 1 and only food compliment I will give: their steamed rice is oddly good. Perfectly textured, moist, and sticky but not too much. But speaking honestly, if the only compliment I can give is for the steamed rice...that says something. For the rest... I typically order rolls, but when I'm unsure about how good a sushi place will be, I will go with a simple bento box to test the waters. - chicken (drenched in tangy teriyaki sauce) - tempura (too fried and battered that it's hard) - California rolls (DO NOT ORDER!!!) The California rolls were the tipping point for me, because I don't know of many ways to mess that up besides freshness. However, not only were these not fresh (like when they've been sitting out), the crab meat in these tasted absolutely horrible - like gone bad horrible. I even sniffed it to make sure they weren't rotten. I only ate one and was tempting to spit it out right away. Another one I tore apart to try and figure out what they added in there. I think they mixed some sauce with it that makes it taste completely different and alarming because it's not how California rolls are supposed to taste. Call me picky, and maybe I am because I typically limit myself to 4 sushi places in the East/South Bay - Sen Dai (Milpitas), Cha Cha Sushi (San Jose), Satomi (Fremont), Aniki (Fremont) - but I would never go back here and don't recommend it to anyone.

Found my favorite new sushi spot! and yes thanks to yelp and other fellow yelpers who helped me make my decision. Tucked away at a strip mall filled with other establishments, I spy Ozora Sushi! Walked in about 7p and the place was packed, but luckily we were seated right away. Ambiance was modern and spacious. A long stretch sushi bar against the wall and spacious room filled with Asian decor and plenty of seating. Extensive menu, but all I wanted Sashimi! and yes I like it RAW! HAHA I've learned in the last couple of months, that rolls make me full after like 4 pieces vs without it I can enjoy my food and no feel bloated afterwards. What did we order? Appetizers: Mix Tempura- perfect batter/crunch Ahi Poki salad-spicy and good serving Bento box w/3items picking-California roll, Beef short ribs, Chicken teriyaki Combo Sashimi -YUM! thick slices and some Roll which I can't remember LOL but my fellow eater said it was delicious I've read they do have HH M-TH 9p-1030p and Fri-Sat 9p-12a I will definitely be back!

We just can't seem to get good service when we come in here. Food is okay but it's expensive compared to other places for what you get. I usually order a roll of some sort but the last time we came in I decided to have nothing while my wife ate ramen, just to get us out of there sooner. They do have a nighttime happy hour but it's mostly full of good drink specials. Not a lot of menu items seem to be discounted, even though they're on the HH menu.

Just don't get take out. They rip u off and it doesn't look or taste as good. The chuck Norris roll is the best in the menu out of 10 we tried. They have a great selection and for the most part very delicious. I have gone many times ms will continue to.

I remember coming to Ozora quite a long time ago and forgot it was here. At $21.xx the chirashi bowl wasn't bad. The fish was fresh and there were quite a few pieces but wish there was a bit more for the price. The service was pretty good and the server came a few times to check up on us. They have a DJ on the weekends later at night which is interesting and what they're known for along with the happy hour. Plenty of parking as well being in a strip mall.

Although this place may seem rather pricey for some of their entrees and sushi rolls; I always find myself returning here time after time. I've tried at least 20 different sushi restaurant (mostly Korean owned) around the East Bay, and I would definitely place this one in the Top 3. ...and here's why: ~ The rice is made "just right"! Not mushy, and you can taste a hint of sweetness, the way it should be. With or without the fish ingredient, there's just a freshness in every bite and just a quality you can taste! ~ Dining: It's wide open and pleasant. Plenty of table room, and big booths. Fairly clean as I notice they wipe things down. You can alway relax to some soju and sake shots. I've been here when groups come out to drink and have a good time while watching the game, and when times when it's a little less crowded and more intimate. IMO, I'd say this a perfect "second date" choice. Unless you find out she loves sushi, then you'll totally feel comfortable talking about Yelp! ~ Service: Been attentive every time! Order taking, water refills, 'to-go' orders, or simply just coming back to ask if I need anything. AG is one of the main waitresses there. All these years, she's been there almost every time I eat hear all these years. AG always means to please no matter how busy they can get. ~ Now back to the Food: Appetizers: ~ The Hamachi Kama - Forever my FAV! I've been served large cheeks many times. ~ Chicken Karaage - Not the best all-time, but decent. ~ Crab Cakes - Decent, but not the all-time best. Sorry, feeling dyslexic. ~ Fresh sashimi (4pc) - Fresh, fresh, exciting! You don't even taste the fish! ~ Tuna Tartare - Can't go wrong with the tartare order. Such a great combo! Love the avocado and sauce! ~ Deep Fried Oysters - Deep fried goodness! Even if you have allergies, you'll still love these. ~ Salmon Kama - Taste great, grilled yet soft, but I'll stick with the hamachi. Rolls: ~ Big Mac - Wins the award for "most memorable"! ~ Rock'n'Roll - Unagi golly goodness! ~ Sora Roll - Wins the "honorable mention" award! ~ Cherry Blossom - Test any sushi restaurant with the good ol'cherry blossom. Here' the fish will dissolve. ~ Volcano - Baked, but not the way I wanted it to be. Still a good sushi choice. ~ Chuck Norris - HiYAH!!! It's not just a fancy name!!! Noodles (with/without soup): ~ Seafood Udon - Thick noodles with plenty of seafood! ~ Tori Udon - Huge bowl, thick noodles, can't go wrong. ~ Nabeyaki Udon - Winner of their noodle bowls! Even comes in a fancy hot pot looking bowl. ~ Yaki Soba - Pretty good mix with the veggies'n'all! But "LIKE" I said, I've been here many times that I stopped keeping track of what I had eaten. I will however, continue taking pics for my Yelp fans! Overall, the key is consistency and quality, and this place definitely has both! This review was way overdue... Good eats folks!

Service is interesting at this restaurant. Everyone was kind, but we were literally asked if we were ready to order about 5 seconds after we were seated. When we asked for more time, they definitely gave us more time as it took quite a while for us to flag someone down. The tempura here is probably the best tempura I've ever had. Fresh and with just the right crisp! Yum. The sushi was a little too sweet for my taste, but it wasn't bad. The salmon and tuna tasted divine. I rarely get full after eating sushi, but I had a hard time finishing my meal here - i was stuffed. That's a good thing.

Came here tonight after work with my boyfriend. Walked in and they had a DJ which totally surprised me and a pull down screen playing a basketball game. Very fun atmosphere. I never knew they were open until midnight so that's pretty cool for the people like me who get off work late but want something good for dinner & still want to go out on a Saturday night . I ordered the spider roll, vegetable gyoza and a house salad. Everything was tasty, I loved the salad. Next time I think I'll order the meat gyoza instead though. BF ordered edamame and an avocado roll (he had already eaten earlier so he wasn't that hungry). He enjoyed his food. Total for All of this was around $21! Pretty much the cheapest sushi meal we've ever had. I ordered off the happy hour menu so that's why it was super cheap but I was still impressed. I would totally come back.

I do love this place .The reason for the four stars is that it takes forever to get service... I must have waited 20 mins for them to take my card. But I love their rolls. I wish they would get more wait staff or just pay attention more !

Came here cause it is the only sushi place in the area open late on a Saturday night, literally everything closes at 9pm in phill! At any rate- we drove all the way here with high hopes last week. Atmosphere is cool- very loungy. Have a late night happy hour and a dj spinning. I like their large booths with big red pillows. My man ordered a bento box and i ordered 2 rolls on the happy hour menu. His bento came within 10 min. I wait. And wait. And wait like 30+ minutes. Im about to eat my finger at this point. As i pick at whats left of my boyfriends bento, our server finalllly comes by to refill our water glasses which have been empty the last 30 min. Im like "uhhh why are my rolls taking so long". She quickly realizes they were never brought out- NOR has she checked on us since the order was taken. You might winder WHY no one noticed?! Let me tell you. Both the women servers were catering to a large group next to us who ordered after us (yet got all their food). The worst part? I saw the sushi chefs taking saki shots as i sat and starved. She was obviously embarrassed cause she brought me 1 of the 2 rolls i ordered free of charge and some free ice cream at the end of the night. But we had already been there way over an hour and wanted our check. The damage was done and i left hungry. I really wanted to like this place.....

Honestly, maybe it's because my first experience was so disappointing, and another visit we didn't even get acknowledged at the door and left, but for some reason I had a bad feeling when I walked in here for lunch the other day. I had called in to work that day and was headed to a cemetery when I realized I was pretty hungry and turned my car to the first place I could think of. I ordered vegetarian sushi (something I've never done before) and two soups. My lunch wasn't very visually appealing and I didn't have much of an appetite anyhow, so I drank my misos and took the rest to go. Honestly, for a no-fish lunch plate, I don't understand how they are charging $10. It was mostly rice with a little avocado and seaweed. Service was okay, but I have another place close by that I think has friendlier service, much cheaper prices, and high quality sushi. Even though I'm their neighbor, I probably won't give Ozora another try.

Since we've moved back from Tennessee we are on the hunt to find a sushi place we love as much as our place in Clarksville. We walked in and the decorations and seating were very welcoming. I ordered a dinner bento box with chicken teriyaki and veggie tempura, and the #43 crunchy roll. He ordered the sashimi combo and the ozura roll. I loved the bento box, and my roll was amazing he also liked his food, the only thing I wasn't fond of was the "premium lemonade" that was 3$ which was comparable to country time lemonade, and my drink sat empty for almost 10 minutes as I'm coughing because something went down the wrong pipe our server walks past like 3 times and didn't acknowledge us at all. Other than that it was very good and we will be back!

This was a dinner stop to let the traffic die down before heading back to Stockton. We arrived when the dinner doors opened, so we were the first in. Shortly more people came in and it had a good feel and a good atmosphere. The waitress was great in making our choices easier. We ordered four rolls and we were very pleased with our selections. For the four rolls it cost $57 and it was worth every penny. I'd go back. Red Head (yum) Chuck Norris (very tasty) FireCracker (nice & spicy) and then there was a roll - with the out side being a thinly sliced cucumber and stuffed with Tuna, Shrimp (refreshingly delicious)

Food was awesome when we finally got it. Service was extremely slow and we were on our lunch break. About 20 minutes after we ordered, the server came by to tell one person in our group they were out of his entree. He reordered. A couple minutes later 1 entree comes out. 15 minutes later 2 more entrees come out. And 15 minutes later the last 2 entrees come out.

Been here so many times and I have to say I'm tired of giving it so many chances. I literally spit out the roll in my napkin! Way over priced for the nasty rolls. Even the beer tastes off. The only good thing was the DJ who is awesome!!

We were a group of 18 (adults and kids) just leaving waterworld on a Saturday evening. Craving sushi this was one of the spots recommended by a friend to go to. We called them asking if they can accommodate a group of 18 people last minute and they said yes. So we rushed over and were given the private room in the back. We all were amazed of how great the service and how delicious the food was. There even was a DJ playing good music. If we lived closer to Concord, I would literally be here probably every week. Service - very attentive, quick and friendly staff Food: Salad - everyone loved the salad and the secret dressing. We kept asking for more. Kids bento box - large size for kids. Good portions. My 3 year old ate most of it. And she was given extra servings of miso soup since that is her favorite with extra tofu Lion king roll - Melted in your mouth kind of delicious Soft shell crab - a little on the smaller side but good Chirashi - fresh fish and surprisingly filling Coco banana - crispy battered slices of banana with vanilla ice cream. More ice cream than bananas.

For a pricey sushi place, I would say this one is a huge fail. Since it is so conveniently located to our home we went there in total three times and every time we are so disappointed. After yesterday's dinner we said no more. I ordered Hanabi 2 which is a $14.95 roll. It was doused in some greasy mayo-sweet sauce, tuna came like it was torn up by hands and it was super chewy. Soft shell crab was old and it was soooooooo greesy. I am a person who eats up everything on the plate especially at a sushi restaurant but we both left a good amount because it was just that bad. California roll was also not good. Chicken Kotsu was as my husband describe so chewy and he said that it's probably something that they freeze, dethaw, freeze... cook and serve. We ordered a few things yet our bill was over $50. Not worth the money. Save it and go somewhere else.

They always make the best BBQ short ribs. They have great service and although a tad pricey worth every penny. Also their avocado roll is Devine on a hot day.

We did not felt welcomed when we entered the door. There was no greeting or whatsoever. However, the couple who came in after us was welcomly greeted. We just wait to be seated and ordeed some sushi rolls and dinner entrees. The portion of the food was smalI. I ordered the rainbow roll, the fish were very dry. The texture did not felt good, i had to drink loads of tea in each bite that i ate. The amount of sushi was so little that it did not make me full. I dont think i will ever go to this place again if i had a choice. There are absolutely way more sushi places that are better than this.

The food is good but pricey. The service was very slow. We had a group of 3 adults and 3 kids. By the time the last adult received her food I was already done with mine. She asked 3 times about her food. Oh I asked them if they could make a roll with no rice and the waitress had to ask.. they said no they can't do that..? Interesting. So I had to have an over priced sashimi plate. I won't be back.. House of Saki and Tatsu are faster better and more accommodating.

I've been here a few times mainly because it 1) is really close to my parents' house 2) is relatively cheap and 3) has a plethora of cooked and raw items on their menu Happy hour from 9pm until closing every night of the week. The happy hour menu has appetizers, bento boxes, sushi rolls, etc. all at a couple of dollars less than their usual price. Discounted drinks as well, though we never partake. The sushi rolls are pretty standard, but really not terrible in the least. The only thing I absolutely would not recommend is their ramen-- it's the straight out of package kind, like I used to eat after school as a kid, with a boiled egg added in. If you're looking for the real thing, Ozora is not the place to go. Also, there is a DJ that plays music on weekend nights, though it's kind of a sad affair, with few customers late at night.

Been here numerous times and this is the last. Clearly this place is UNDER STAFFED. Every time we get seated right away and that is where the service ends. We just waited 15 minutes at the table and nothing! The service here is a JOKE!!!!! Food is great if you can get served. Unfortunately, this was the last time we will ever go here. Was a great place to take friends.

I came here on a Saturday night and I already knew it was going to be a good time! The environment was loud (live DJ spinning), busy, and dim! I would not suggest going here if you're looking for a quiet and romantic sit down dinner. I had to scream across the table to talk to my friends which I didn't mind because we were drinking happy hour sake bombs! The waiters and waitresses were all really young and helpful! The manager even came and checked up on our table to make sure everything was satisfying. The happy hour menu on Saturdays after 10pm was amazing!! The food selection wasn't just cheap HH rolls, it was a great selection like deep fried oysters! I highly recommend trying this place out :) It is located inside a plaza so lots of parking!

The sushi rolls are clean, not muddled, which was a pleasant surprise. Loved the oyster roll. They are busy, but nice. The nigiri sushi was ok, not amazing, the fish was medium firm. Also, the Udon has a great broth and comes with lots of nice vegetables. I think this is a neighborhood standby, with a huge following. Nice to have around.

Came back again with my hun, and yet again, they greatly impressed. I set up a little date lunch for me and my honey here recently, and now Ozora has acquired yet another fan! Place still looks immaculate. We ordered one Volcano Roll- described as a California roll inside, topped with spicy scallop and bake. An order of mixed Tempura. And my guy ordered a bento box with Chicken Katsu and avocado rolls. The bento box also comes with rice, salad, and miso soup. For drinks, I did tea and he did a coke. Everything was impeccably impressive in presentation. He loved the chicken katsu. I also took a bite, and it was quite tasty. The Volcano roll was absolutely delish! Not as wonderful as the Godzilla roll, but certainly still a winner. And of course the tempura was mouth watering scrumptious. Service yet again, endearing and accommodating. Yup, still good and still a place I will frequently visit.

Came in with a couple of my friends after finding this place on yelp. I had high expectations for this place after seeing all the positive reviews. I liked their decor, it had a nice feel and the food was good but wasn't great. Service was meh. Walked in and was waiting to be seated, one of the staff members simply just looked at us turned around an then walked away. Thought that was kinda rude. I really think they need a change in staff, the whole time my friends and I were eating we kept getting dirty looks from some of the female waitresses...that made me uncomfortable and my meal less enjoyable. The place would definitely be better if they got a whole new set of staff members, the ones who actually provide good service.

Ozora is still one of he best Sushi restaurants in the area, but I have to demote them one star after a recent meal there. This new 4 star rating is based on the terrible California Roll we got as part of our order. Not usually something I order, but my dinner companion likes this roll. We were both very disappointed in it! Tasted like a low quality crab salad, not very fresh unfortunately. The miso soup was also flat & boring. Everything else was decent. The vegetarian roll with seaweed was one stand out. I will still go back again, but will avoid the California Roll in future orders.

Good fresh sushi. Great service. They have a DJ the music isn't too loud so you can still hear everyone talk. Happy hour from 9:30pm to 12am is a great deal! Will come back for sure! Great late night sushi spot! They are located in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's.

Had lunch here yesterday. The service was excellent. I ordered a bento which had salad, rice and soup plus two or three items of choice. I chose Agedashi Tofu, Mixed Tempura and Chicken Teriyaki. Everything was tasty and fresh and the tempura was fried perfectly with the batter light and crisp. Probably my only negative, I wish there were more than just one prawn. I will definitely be back and can highly recommend.

This is the place we always go for sushi when I'm visiting my sister. it's a very "solid" sushi place- good selection, fresh fish, quick service. Doesn't really scream "spectacular!" but a pretty nice place all in all. There are booths and tables as well as seating by the bar. It's never busy enough that you have to make a reservation, which is nice. The teriyaki beef bento box is also pretty good.

Still loving this place years later. Though we've tried several other locations around the area, this is still the freshest fish in the Concord/Walnut Creek area. The hands-down best deal is Happy Hour. If you make it after nine, there's a wide selection of menu items that receive deep discounts. Their Nabeyaki Udon is tasty, and they make a very good chicken karaage. Highly recommended!

A friend and I visited this restaurant on a slow night. We were seated in a booth with comfy pillows. I ordered the tempura udon, which was humongous and delicious. I had a cold so the hot soup was just what I was looking for, plus a giant side of tempura. YUM! My friend ordered the chirashi bowl, and thought that it did not come with enough sushi for the price. IMO the food was okay, not particularly good or bad and the ambiance was cute. The reason for only three stars is because one of our servers was super super rude. She was very curt and made us feel really uncomfortable. She was skinny, asian, with a pony tail. Also we had several different servers, which was really bizarre- especially since different people would come and ask us the same question. Two different ladies asked if we had taken our drink order already etc.

In my dictionary (the diction-Terri?), Ozora is Japanese for Awesome. One of the best sushi bars I've ever visited, and there is definitely stiff competition to be found in Concord. One question: why do chefs at sushi bars always greet customers as they walk in the door with so much enthusiasm? It's a wonderful consistency and Ozora was no different. Feeling welcome from minute one is a fabulous start to a meal! Ozora's interior is spacious and beautiful, with low lights and giant booths lined with red pillows, adding a touch of Vegas nightclub glam. Our servers were very sweet and answered a few questions, and handled the Saturday night dinner crowd with total ease. For cocktails, I sampled the Sake Cosmo. A beautiful deep purple and served in a fun martini glass, but a martini filled with ice isn't exactly ideal - the sake flavor was unfortunately quite watered down. Their bartenders need more training. But luckily their sushi chefs do not! I ordered the 49er Roll because I always love that roll's lemony goodness, and the Sora Roll based on the raves of my fellow yelpers. Both were perfectly sized and HUGELY portioned. Two rolls is PLENTY for one person, and absolutely delicious! All elements were very fresh, and assembled perfectly. I also sampled their Over The Rainbow Roll (a rainbow roll made even more excessive by topping it with some type of nut crunchies, I say almond, my friend said peanut, plus spicy sauce, tobiko and green onion). My friend also enjoyed their Godzilla Roll, though was a bit thrown by the cream cheese inside, but she raved about it and ate it all! With drinks, tax and tip, our four roll dinner came out to $80, which is reasonable for sushi and ambience of this quality. The only room for improvement here is their cocktails - otherwise, this shopping center has proven to have yet another great restaurant!

As I'm new to the area, I'm looking for my new "spots". Ozora has definitely made the list! The sushi rolls are interesting, with an evident fusion influence sure to please almost any palette. The "Angel Mama" was fantastic, combining avocado, spicy crabmeat, and other goodies that most certainly made an impression on this sushi-lovin' girl! And, the garlic edamame was beyond addictive. The restaurant is quite modern and clean, with a pretty cool vibe. It looks like it can accomodate fairly decent sized groups, though I think it best serves a more intimate dining out experience.

This has rapidly become my new favorite sushi spot. Quality fresh sushi and bento boxes. They also have a pretty fun TGIF thing on the weekends with a DJ and discounted sake, drinks and sushi! It can get a little pricey but I think it's well worth the quality.

Red Mango roll is off the hook! If you like sweet with crab and tempura shrimp, this is a great cold roll. We also got the volcano roll and spider roll. Great as well. To start we had the shrimp spring roll. The peppers in these off set the taste to much and they weren't that good. Great value for your money. Between the two of us we ate half of every portion. Four stars because although service was very friendly it was a little slow. Kind of a drag when you are craving another sake (: At 9 o'clock on Fridays and Saurdays a DJ sets up til close. This is pretty cool, no cover or ID check, food is served til 12. We will be back! Love to support the local, fun restaurants!

I will never go to another sushi spot in WC again. This is, by a long shot, the best. * Fresh, delicious sushi * Great atmosphere * Good service * Yummy saki cocktails

Excellent food! Portions were very generous! I would give it 5 stars but the service was a bit slow! It did take us a bit of time to decide with the large selection of items they have to offer. So it got a bit busy too but still a bit slow after served. I will definitely be coming back for more

Seated... Wait..... Wait for 15 minutes, no one comes to take our order. Then I see another couple come in and be seated across the restaurant. Wait another five minutes and that same couple gets their order taken. Done, walk out. Never going there again. By the way, not even offered a drink. Menu look great, too bad did get to try the food.

Sushi equivalent of bacon with chocolate syrup. Went here for dinner tonight following a co-worker's recommendation. I guess, we all have different tastes, and some people must simply like sweet sushi. You know, how they put 1, 2 or 3 peppers in some menus to indicate how hot a dish is? Here they should be putting sugar canes or something. Everything we ordered was inedibly sweet. I'm not talking a Teriyaki-type hint of sweetness, I'm talking proper sweet, caramel syrup intensity-sweet. Namely, we ordered the Chuck Norris roll, the Ichiban roll, and the Godzilla roll. I realize that some people might like Sushi Desert, but they should have warned us, as other ingredients were clearly listed, such as snow crab, yellowtail, tuna, etc., but the monthly doze of sugar was not. Oh, and the waiter was trained to ask, "How is everything, *good*?" That "good" at the end of the waiter's question always makes me feel that I'm being swindled. Add to this a 15-minute wait to be seated when there was no line, and that's how you get 1 star.

Came here for a pre birthday dinner with Terri, my brother and his girlfriend. The inside is beautiful. Dimly lit, a lot of dark wood, and the color red everywhere. It's a very nice contrast and with mirrors placed in the right spot, the dining room looks huge. We were seated in the corner of the room, at a large table that has a C shaped booth around it. The booth is wood with red cushions. I don't think I've seen a booth looks this nice. Even the menus were nice. A black menu, with the restaurant name printed nicely on the front, and bound with gold rope. My brother and I both ordered a Sapporo. They brought them out in two very frosty glass mugs. We ordered a few rolls each and the two I chose were The Shrek roll, and The Tiger roll. Instead of bringing the rolls out on separate plates, they were all brought out on a large plate. It looked like our own little sushi buffet. The Shrek roll was my favorite of the two. A beautiful roll with avocado and tobiko on top. The tobiko is on one of the center pieces so you need to get a piece, then get some of the tobiko on it, then you have your perfect bite. The tiger roll was really good, but looked a lot like the roll Terri ordered. Spicy salmon with avocado and lemon slices on top. I didn't find it very spicy, but the lemon on top really adds an extra flavor element. You get the freshness of the fish, creaminess of the avocado, then the tartness of the lemon. The service was excellent. We were there for a good hour at least and we never felt rushed. They checked on us regularly, and when we did leave thanked us for coming. It's nice to have yet another sushi restaurant, very close by.

My husband dragged me back here the other day and I was really surprised at how the quality of some of their food has changed. He ordered three rolls and before, three rolls were way more than enough for the two of us to finish. This time, one of them had only FOUR pieces, another had six and the final roll (a cali roll for god sake) had only five pieces all spaced out on the plate and I was like really? Plus they totally skimped big time on the avocado on the cali roll. This has never been my first choice for sushi in the area and now this totally helps me prove my point to my husband to why we need to go elsewhere.

I think the reviews for this place should be 5 stars. Food was amazing, they have a DJ. Happy hour was really nice. It's a great place to go.

Ozora is a cute place with good food options, and thus it gets 4 stars. Though food is most important in a restaurant for me, the ambiance also adds to the experience. At Ozora, it's just very loud! I've been there twice and both times we had to move closer to each other to be able to communicate. They only have 5 booths, that are usually taken by 2-3 people (though each booth fits 6), and the remaining tables are so close to each other that servers walk behind your back trying to not to drop something on your head. So those two points are downers for my restaurant expectation. The food is nice though, as many other reviewers pointed out, most of the dishes are unusually sweet but that's a part of the experience. The salads and soups are fresh as well as the fish - a big plus! On the other hand, the tea was very week during one of the visits. It looked and tasted like water. Otherwise, it's a nice place to try, especially on the weeknight, when it's a little calmer.

I've gone here two times. This review is based off of yesterday's experience. We ordered the volcano roll, tempura roll, and the angel mama roll. They all were great! I'm very happy with what we picked. It was happy hour so prices were okay. I wouldn't go here if it wasn't happy hour because I find it a little pricey. The service was okay. We didn't get acknowledged at the door but once we sat down the service was fine. I would definitely come back.

Great food, always fresh!!! Stay there late enough and a DJ comes out, and the lights are dimmed a.k.a. Club Sushi! Can't give 5 Stars do to the slightly slow service. You often have to flag someone down for more water. The sushi and music keeps me coming back!

The best Sushi place in Walnut Creek. If you don't think so...Go in and sit at the bar, ask for Ken and have him make you something special. I love the way he make the surf clams as an appetizer.

Beautiful inside, and nicely decorated. I am a sushi foodie, and go all over the place seeking amazing sushi, and this was far from it. The food is plated nicely, but does not taste as good as it looks. I got a spicy tuna roll, which i was expecting a piece a tuna rolled up with cucumber in seaweed and rice and spicy sauce on top. Instead I got ground up tuna that had hot sauce blended in with it and then shoved into a rice roll. Honestly the only thing I actually enjoyed was the dipping sauce that came with the tempura. The service is absolutely horrible here!!! Customers receive no attention, once your food is handed to you (yes handed to you, not placed on the table) you never see your server again until the bill comes. Our table waited and waited for water, and even after we requested more water, it took another 15 minutes for someone to bring it to us.

I came here after on a recommendation from a friend so I had high hopes for this place. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations, which to be fair, were pretty high. Food: The portion size was fair, considering the happy hour pricing. We ordered a poki salad and endamame to start, and then a TNT roll, lion king roll, and crunchy spicy tuna roll. I also ordered a hot tea, which was extraordinarily bland except the faintest hint of maybe barley or something. The salad was quite disappointing. It's name was quite deserved. There were 3 average sized slices of tuna on top of 2 tablespoons of seaweed salad on top of a mountain of lettuce and greens. The seaweed and tuna was quite delicious, but that ratio for $8 was not worth it. The rolls had just the right amount of rice, and the fish and sauces were flavorful. We both enjoyed the spicy tuna roll immensely, as well as the TNT. As for the endamame, well...it never came... Service: I wish I had nicer things to say about the service. We walked in at 8:45, and were promptly "greeted" by the host, without a smile or hello or anything. Our servers would drop down the dishes when our rolls were served and sloshed water into our cups in a hurry the one time we asked for refills as if we were inconveniencing them, only to return behind the bar and start chatting with each other. Remember the endamame that never came? Well, about 5 minutes after we ordered, our sever came out and said bluntly that they were out of endamame and they were making a new batch that would be done in a few minutes. No biggie, stuff like that happens and we were happy to wait for a fresh batch. Fast forward 45 minutes to the end of the meal, and still no endamame in sight. We tried to flag down a waiter but it took forever, and before we could get a word out, she blurted "OOH, yeah! The endamame!" Pretty sure she just completely forgot about it, but she wasn't apologetic at all. When we were ready to leave, it again took forever to flag down the waitress. We paid, tipped, and I don't think we'll be returning any time soon.

I eat a lot of Sushi and it would be remiss of me not to call this one out. Nice lively atmosphere with great food. And if you have read any of my reviews you can see I'm usually all about the service. Happy to say this place has great service as well. Very impressive!

I think...I think I am going to have to give this place 5 stars. I definitely believe it is 4.5 quality, but since we can't do that I think the fact that this is the best place I have tried outside of San Francisco and the South Bay bumps it up to 5 stars. We came here on Friday at 6 because we were so starving we couldn't wait any longer. And good thing too, because when we left after 7 there were people waiting to be seated - and after we went to Trade Joe's (same shopping center) we walked by the restaurant and it was EVEN MORE BUSY! The restaurant is open and very clean. We sat at the bar and were able to watch all of the sushi being prepared. It was probably not a good choice for us because it just made us want more! We don't even eat rolls, but they looked AH-MAZ-ING and the portions were huge. We had the sashimi salad (it is technically a Korean dish - I forget what it was actually called), a bento box with sashimi, and an order of uni. The sashimi was SOO GOOD! I like sashimi, but usually don't gorge myself on it. Here, however, I wanted MORE MORE MORE! I was already craving this place the next day. We will definitely be back. This is definitely our go-to Sushi spot.

I will say that the food is decent but the service here is terrible. Things are a little overpriced but that really wasn't our gripe. First off, we asked for chopsticks and it only took us asking another waitress to get it for us to finally have them when our miso soup was already out. Second, the waitress that we had was extremely inattentive and never answered our questions. We had to ask her a couple of times to get things answered. Third, she did not even come back to see if we were ok until we were practically finished. Lastly, after she gave us the bill, she kept looking at us to make sure we were ready to pay. The service was just absolutely terrible, it is not worth it to go back.

I've been there twice and I've loved it both times. Attentive service, good prices, delicious food, and cute decor. A great place for sushi with friends or alone. And their nabeyaki udon is topnotch, the best I've had in Concord!

The food was just ok, I never appreciate Japanese restaurant that is running by Korean or Chinese ( I'm a Chinese, so no offended ). Anyways, not authentic is fine, at least it's edible, but why should I tip to such a rude service... never answer to my "thank you", never watch my eyes, dropped the bill on my table.... Wtf

I walk in and visually I was delighted, the aroma told me I was going to devour some top notch sushi in the very near future, we were seated. All Asian staff, Asian influenced ambiance and decor, but what is this noise I am hearing, ruining everything. The music was that of a teeny-boppers weekend dance club, or I Got 5On It, such as: Dance.com , or the Boot Scoot Saloon back in the day. No Hacchiku, Biwa, or Horagai playing, soothing my ears. Just Justin Beiber backed by some Luda, wtf?! Little to my knowledge, this place is known for disco balls, strobe lights and hip-hop music on the weekends, I guess its cool and original, but I was nowhere near ready for it, it was Wed night and I was just hungry, not trying to cut rug. Service was fast, prices were fair and the food was excellent. No 5 stars because of my dismay, I was caught off guard with the music thing. Save it for Fri night baby!!!

Half of our order never came out and when we were finished with our food they asked if we would like to order anything else. We promptly asked for our check to be fixed and immediately went to Taco Bell since we were still starving. Talk about being ridiculously understaffed

I've been here several times with my boyfriend and one with my family. I really like this place for its quiet atmosphere and there quality rolls (I really only get sushi rolls). The rolls have really fresh fish and theyre decently sized for the price. Also they're also not drenched in sauce like other sushi places which let's the fish to speak for itself. The quiet atmosphere really allows for a good conversation so I really like eating here because it isn't like you're screaming at the person you're eating with. The only pitfall for this place is that the service is slow and a little awkward. It took a really long time for the waitresses to realize that we wanted more tea or a box and the check. Also one waitress came by to ask us how we were doing when we had no food yet. So we were like.... I guess the tea is good? Overall I come here for some great sushi and a quiet break from a busy day!

Favorite sushi spot me and my boyfriend go here almost every Friday night and order a ton of food. The staff is so awesome and the sushi is so fresh. They also have a very fun late happy hour with a DJ on Fridays and Saturdays I believe.

After days of craving for sushi, Yelp helped me out with this place. Because of its great reviews on here, I thought I'd try it out. And thankfully, I was not disappointed. AT ALL. The place inside has such a cozy nightly feeling. When we walked in, we were immediately seated at one of the booths. The booths are so cozy, with red pillows, and just enough space which I love. I hate the booths that are all crammed up all the time and make you fit more than 4 people. We ordered three rolls which were all delicious. We had the Dragon Roll, the Salmon Skin Roll, and the best of it all, the Chuck Norris Roll. I highly recommend that for anyone, it has a little kick, but that was just enough. We also ordered the hamachi kama which was so good! Along with a special uni hand roll, that is filled with a ton of uni (definitely worth $12.95 in my opinion)! We had two beautiful ladies serve us that night, and they were very pleasant. Our food was coming out super fast, which was perfect because we were starving! This place was such a convenient and delicious sushi stop. Living in Walnut Creek, this place isn't far at all, which is what I love. Parking is also quite convenient. Meaning I'll be back (:

love the tempura! oh so good! bento box is lovely, but go to change the teriyaki sauce. idk whats up, but that beef teriyaki is just GROSS. taste rotten almost. food does take a while to get made. i was the first person in at 1130am and my order took about 20 minutes to make...oil wasn't hot enough so my tempura was not crispy. wish my server came around more often to fill my water. bonus-the girls there are cute

Thank you for the food poisoning and slow service. I came to eat here with a friend for the evening, as my usual sushi spot was closed for the night. Ordered the crunchy spicy tuna roll and the volcano roll. I also ordered a spicy chicken teriyaki. The rolls came out first, as expected. The rolls were small, 6 pieces. They looked a little strange, not very appetizing, but we ate it anyway. I noticed that my spicy tuna roll wasn't the freshest, but didn't think anything of it. I proceeded to wait for my chicken. Minutes go by, as I eat each piece of unknowingly tainted sushi. Alas, there was no more. Our initial waitress comes back and let's us know the chicken wasn't made by the chef yet so she put in the order again. At this point, I was still hungry, so was willing to wait. Another 15-20 minutes go by and the chicken finally shows up. I kindly ask for it to go, as I'm no longer in the mood to eat. When I get the bill, I noticed I was charged twice for the chicken! I went up to the cashier to get this fixed and pay my bill. She was helpful and credited me right away and apologized for the chicken. I was later offered some free mochi ice cream as a sorry for the delay. I thought, well that was cool! Maybe they redeemed themselves for at least another try?! Boy was I wrong! Later that evening the bubbles came. I began to think what else I may have eaten. That is until my friend started having the same feeling. So for the past couple days, our stomachs haven't felt the same after eating here. Sorry Ozora, I really wanted to like you for the hip crowd you were trying to pull here with the cool music and atmosphere, but unfortunately I have to write this review from the white throne.

Let's start off with the good: their sushi is very fresh and tastes great... Too bad the bad customer service leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We walk in and the hostess is on the phone taking an order. I hate it when I have to wait for someone to get off the phone. However that's my pet peeve so I'll deal with it. So 3 minutes later she finally gets off the phone and proceeds to tell me to hold on - and she just walks away without further explanation - what the hell? We now have to wait 6 minutes - and the 3minutes of her being on the phone and we're already waiting 9 minutes. So after we're finally seated we have to wait another 5minutes before our server shows up - I'm getting more frustrated by the minute. So we finally order our drinks and my husband orders a coke. She doesn't bother to tell us it's from a can though. The rest of the meal we're helped with an attitude that just says: "I don't want to work tonight and you guys are making me work." I might come and pick up food but I will not be inclined to dine here again. Don't understand how they have 4 stars.

Was in the Antioch & came in around 930pm from Stockton because i yelped & they closed at midnight. The place was nice, music was jumpin with a DJ, Sweet. Drinks were cheap & food was good but man the service sucks! You literally have to flag down a waitress! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt maybe low on waitresses maybe tired? idk but whatever the case the GF was pissed so if ever I return here it wouldn't be with her because she does not aporove. 2 stars. 1 for the DJ, 1 for the drinks

So far this is the best place I've tried for sushi in Concord. It is always fresh, the restaurant has a nice atmosphere given it's in a shopping plaza in Concord. Everything I have tried here has been delicious. I usually get the cherry blossom and the 49er roll which is salmon and tuna with lemon. I love to top everything off with tobiko. Their ahi seaweed salad is also my favorite and their scallops are really good but too small of a portion. The service is pretty good here although I would pay to see the waitress they had from my last visit. She got all of the orders wrong from every table. She would bring me out a dish and then when I told her it wasn't mine she tried to pawn it off to other people at different tables. When others said it wasn't there order she insisted they must want the dish. I felt bad for her but it was truly hilarious to watch. Bring her back please!!!!

Quality of fish was not so good. We asked for Maguro sashimi and we got the worst part of the fish ever and they didn't even defrost it right. The fish was stringy and fell apart...HOW CAN YOUR FISH FALL APART?! Overall environment is great and rolls are good. Just don't order sashimi unless it's just ebi or sake.

We really enjoyed ourselves here, the DJ and the club music and the low lighting made it feel like we were at a night club :) The DJ was awesome and we were jamming to the music the whole time. The food was delicious! Everything we ordered was good. Minus 1 star because we had crappy service. Our waitress took forever to take our order, she wasn't attentive and when she brought the dessert out she just set it down without clearing our dirty plates. We had to ask her to do it. But the DJ and the food outweighed the subpar service and we had an awesome night!

I don't know how they got 4 stars. I can't give anything more than 2. Food: the roll I ordered has fair flavor. BUT the rice was SUPER DRY AND HARD. Nigiris were of course ruined by the rice too. Ankimo's sauce sucks. Service: the waitress, who seemed to be the owner, didn't seem to enjoy communicating with customers. REDICULOUS: when I asked if they had fresh wasabi(which is made from plant instead of powder) the waitress said yes and she brought me the wasabi that was made of powder. I was confused. However she insisted "this is fresh wasabi", which I later realized she meant "this is freshly mixed wasabi". It's not a problem that this sushi place is not owned by Japanese people. But at least they should know what fresh wasabi is in order not to be such hilarious.

My family and friends come here all the time, but recently we are soooo disappointed!! Their sushi comes with really thin slices and sashimi is not fresh enough. We ordered ahi poki and it was not the food that i used to know for my whole life. It was just spring mix salad with three paper-thin slices of tuna. Their sauces were Korean spicy sauce. Overall, their food is salty and saucy. Our server was extremely slow and forgot all we asked for. We didn't even get the miso soup and salad which are everyone expects to receive from japanese restaurant. They dropped our expectations and they dropped their quality. I felt like I had sushi from cheap japanese-chinese buffet. I don't think my family and my friends are going to come back here anymore.

Excellent - love that they have an enormous selection of Bento Box options, and the food is consistently good. Not quite 5 stars because getting takeout is onerous: things are never ready when I get there, and front of the house staff acts put out when they have to go get it.

Came here with my best friend, I keep forgetting that he doesn't drink so I had a large Sake all to myself and that was about all I could remember lol. We had several rolls and they all tasted pretty good. I was still hungry at the end so we added a bowl of udon which I loved.

We had the corner room for our friend's birthday last night. Service was..meh...the manager or owner was kind and came around often..our server wasn't too friendly. It's funny how when I asked to pay for my tab, she added a 20% and the other tab 18% gratuity. 2% isn't a big deal but when it's $300 that's like a free beer! We left them extra tip anyways. My table alone had ordered over $300 worth of food. I feel like I've been ripped off. We ordered the XL sashimi platter..the cuts were really small. I had specifically asked for no tako, which was definitely present in our platter. That alone was $150, not worth it. They only gave us one miso, soup, and salad. The order included tempura, which I enjoyed. It also came with 4 baked mussels and scallops. We also ordered 4 rolls, beer, and soju. They don't have any pitchers. They ran out cold soju..so we drank lukewarm soju..bleh...also ran out of Kirin beers.

I've been here on my lunch break for take-out twice now. The first time I came, I ordered a dragon roll and seaweed salad. I found the dragon roll to be a large portion, consistent with its price. The seaweed salad, a bit on the salty/overseasoned side. This time, I ordered the dragon roll again. I noticed that the portions had been reduced considerably. Additionally, the roll itself was inconsistent in that some portions only had unagi on top, some portions only had avocado on top, and only one or two had both. Not sure if this is their style of dragon roll, but it wasn't consistent with my last order. I might return to see what else they have to offer, as it looks like a good place to dine but all in all, I wasn't impressed with the value for my money.

Ok Ok Ok RON R.(I'm updating my rating but it's coming with a disclaimer!) Came here on a Monday night w/the the boyfriend and have to admit the fish and food is definitely 5 stars and the service 2-3 dependent. Service was nice when you weren't trying to catch their eye/attention so be prepared to wait. Bring a book. Be ready for the disclaimer- DISCLAIMER: Although I claim this establishment is 4 stars. The rating is based solely on the food alone. Any intent to utilize the rating for anything other than the basic appetizer, sashimi, sushi, lunch, dinner and/or combination platters was in fact unintentional. ;) hehehe.... I digress...Going forward- To Start: 1)4piece- Sashimi appetizer@$7.95 was Nom nom nom fresh goodness (5 stars) -HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 2) Hamachi Kama appetizer@$11.95-ranked in my top 5 for nicely prepared fishy collar/cheeks (4 stars) 3)Tuna Tartare @$12.95-avocado,tuna,salmon,potato chips with wasabi aioli (5 STARS-SUPER RECOMMEND) Dinner: 1) Sora Roll@$12.95-shrimp tempura, crab inside, tuna, salmon, yellowtail on top (5 stars) 2) Rock & Roll @ $7.95-unagi with avocado and cucumber (5 stars) Dessert: Green Tea Tempura IceCream @$5.95-Sad to say it- tonight was just not the night. Came out with just chocolate syrup on the bottom of the plate only. Nothing on top. Returned it for Raspberry syrup and when it came back it looked super questionable but Hey- that's what you get for sending stuff back. HA- I ate it anyways since I was craving and it was decent as long as you didn't overthink it. (2 stars tonight)

I hadn't been here in a while, but I came in with some friends last week because we really wanted sushi and this place rocked last time. When we arrived, i asked the waitress what she recommended as a hot dish, and she recommended asparagus beef for an appetizer. I decided to order it as my meal, even though it was not on the happy hour menu. Everyone else at the table ordered sushi. My asparagus beef came out on a sushi dish, and looked like sushi. The beef was grilled and wrapped around asparagus drizzled with teriyaki sauce. This really hit the spot! Our server was good. She kept our water full and checked on me regularly. Tonight I came back alone just for the sushi just because i felt like I missed out not ordering any last week. But when I saw the asparagus beef, I had to fight my craving because it was so good last week. I ordered a sushi and sashimi combo and was very happy with it. I had been wanting it since last week when my friend ordered the same thing. I got the same server as last week and she remembered me and tempted me with the asparagus beef, good memory. I learned her name is Ugi and she has worked there 5 years which would explain why she was so professional and really knew the menu. I have to come here more often.

In a nutshell, disappointing. If they advertise snow crab, it should not be imitation crab. Furthermore, they have pictures of the rolls and it's a complete fabrication of how much fish is in the rolls. At $14 a roll, I would expect a little more than a sliver of raw fish. I wanted to like this place along with other yelpers. Frankly, I'm not sure what everyone is thinking, giving this place 4 stars, what a joke! Because of this unpleasant experience, I felt the need to finally sign up and express my frustration.

My nieces love this place I guess because of the pillows on the seats. Standard sushi/sashimi restaurant although seems a bit on the pricey side. Everything has been good so far except the hand rolls aren't what I expected. Instead of pieces of raw fish over rice wrapped in nori, it seems like they put the fish into a blender until it's almost like a paste. Then they serve it over rice, wrapped in nori. Had it twice now so I'm probably not going to repeat again.

We had dinner here last night. We ordered miso soup, sashimi, and two rolls. The rainbow and dragon roll. The part of the rainbow roll was very 'fishy' tasting and some of the fish smelled foul. All of the other food items were very good. The service was not good at all. We had our order taken which took about 25 minutes, and never saw our sever again. We had to flag someone to get our check. They appeared to be understaffed. We tried to report the problem with the rainbow roll, but we had to leave and they were too busy. The menus are very dirty, stained, and falling apart. I had to wash my hands after touching them. Disappointed since I've been here before and food and service was excellent.

Food ok but we had terrible service for a restaurant that has 4 stars on yelp. The waiter was rude and not attentive. She absolutely ruined dinner with her attitude. If you get Ugi (btw I asked for her name and she ignored me, this name is per the receipt) as your server request a new one or just avoid this place all together.

Came here to celebrate my new job with the boyfriend on Saturday and had a really nice night. The 9pm-closing happy hour I saw on their website was the reason I picked Ozora and I definitely was not disappointed. The decor is really cute, they have a large flat screen for sports and even a dj playing top 40 tunes. Everything we ordered was good but the Deep Fried Philly was probably our favorite.

very unfriendly and very unwelcoming workers. we did not receive one check up by our waiter. this place does not have fresh fish. i agreed they are overpriced. will not return.

Amazing amazing sushi bar! The gentlemen working the sushi bar are very attentive and always good at recommending sushi! My husband and I come every other Friday night for date night while our daughter is at dance! We will always come back!!!!!

I come here for lunch or dinner. Today I tried Ahi Poke and Sea Bass salad and it was amazing. Even my friend said there was no fish smell. I aslo had the Spanish mackrel and it was very fresh. Their floor looks always dirty, they have granite entry and shiny imitation of wood in the restaurant. Tip: clean with damp terry towel on a swiffer mop, use hot water + soap. You can add Fabuloso for nice smell. One person mops and another goes right after with a dry towel and that will eliminate the dirty smudges all over the floor. Its such a nice restaurant but it always looks dirty because of the floors :-( Sometimes the staff isnt that friendly and doesnt understand English. There were few times I got something else from what I ordered. I haven't said anything but maybe ESL would help...

The sushi is ok, but the "DJ" they have come in on Saturday nights is horrible. He just plays assorted pop music on his laptop and occasionally scratches the turntable when he's not texting or staring blankly at the wall. It does nothing to improve the atmosphere, I don't understand why they continue to have him come. I watched a woman ask a server for napkins to make earplugs. Please, just play elevator music and tell him to stay at home.

Had the bento box. The spicy tuna cut rolls were below average (way too much rice) and the tuna was just ok. Salad dressing was not good and the chicken teriyaki was fine. Skippable restaurant

Used to live down the street from this restaurant and loved to go there for the happy hour! They have cheap sake bombs during happy hour and also good food. I love that they use real crap meat instead of the imitation crab that most places use. The food is fresh and delicious! The environment is pretty nice, they play good music and I like the vide.

Don't let the nice physical atmosphere fool you. Customer service was very poor here. Not even once did anyone come and refill my water. How does the chef feel like it is acceptable to serve chicken katsu with the panko falling off? It was messy. It was dry. It was almost a bit insulting to a point where I was a little offended... like katsu is such a yummy dish and you literally just butchered it and threw it in a bento box and served it to me like this? really?! check the photos, I posted it somewhere on there. never again.

The food was great! Very delicious! But the only thing about this place was that the service was not that great. Our table kept having to call the waitress over and we even got up a couple times to get our own napkins.

The atmosphere is nice. We were seated quickly on a Friday night. It was a little confusing while we were ordering drinks and food as there were 2 waitresses helping us so we were not sure who to order from but they worked it out great and we had no problems with ordering food. There were good portions of food and a large menu selection. They have a live DJ on Friday night and I was expecting it to be loud and kill the mood. Instead it was actually very well integrated into the room. The music was at an appropriate level for you to continue a conversation at your table and they dimmed some of the lights to set the late night mood. I am planning to go back to try the happy hour menu.

This place is good, not great but good. It's pretty close to my place and my wife says that she thinks happy roll in Concord or Kobe in Pleasant Hill. It didn't help that our good came out all separate times which is awkward and they forgot my buddy's rice and our miso soups. I'd come back but only if those other two spots were full.

My other favorite sushi spot in the area! I love how there's a huge selection of food to choose from the menu and I try to come here on Fridays and Saturdays anytime from 9-12 am. The DJ's around and I enjoy his selection and taste in music. The sushi has always hit the spot for me! Plus happy hour is all night on those days!! Customer service could be better. I phoned in a reservation days before but had to wait an additional 15 mins in order to be seated.

My sis and I were headed to Captain's Chest for a birthday party and decided to grab dinner here before hand as it's right next door. I'm so glad we did! I had no idea this place was here. The interior is cool looking and the place is very clean. My sister and I ordered edamame, a spicy crab roll and a dragon roll. I had to remove the unagi from the dragon roll to eat it and it was ok but I loved the spicy crab roll. The service was a little slow but we were in no rush so that was fine. When we left it seemed they were setting up a dj which I thought was interesting although I wouldn't be dancing in a sushi restaurant. I'm glad I found this place because I will be back to try more and to get that crab roll again!

The service here was nonexistent. YMMV, but i came at 9:00pm and went inside the restaurant. We waited for 10 minutes, but no one came to seat us down. The place was not packed either, there were many seats available. I don't know why they did not seat us, but they just ignored us. I hope you receive a better service.

  • Ryan C.

This place is pretty expensive for what you get, and the food is mediocre. My salmon nigiri tasted strange, and the chicken teriyaki consisted of a few shreds of dark meat. The soup was cold, and made me wonder how long it had been sitting. The waitress was nice but the other staff acted is if someone pissed in their miso. I won't be back.

  • G M.

Decent food here (especially the agadashi) nice location, but service is really lacking here. They had trouble getting us seated even though there were plenty of seats. Waited at least 10 minutes and still no one asked us for our drinks. After asking multiple servers for help they kept responding that they will get our server instead of just helping us. After seeing that no one was getting their food we just decided to leave. Sushi Momoyama restaurant ended up being a great fallback plan!

Love the food here. The angel mama roll is my favorite. Sometimes the service is slow but the sushi is always worth the wait.

GREAT FOOD, however service was severely lacking. Lion King was awesome, 6 pieces, a little garlicky and cheesy on top of the baked salmon. VERY generous on avocado which i greatly appreciated Chuck Norris roll. What a name. Huge roll with spicy crab on top (tasted like a dry american spice, which was sort of meh). buttery salmon sashimi. Lots of avocado always a good thing. Shrimp tempura is always good. this roll had lots of flavor and packed a punch, like chuck norris' fist. Ahi poke salad so good! Tender tuna with seaweed and regular green salad with creamy spicy sweet sauce. this is one of the best poke salads I have had thus far, i would definitely get this next time as well! Coming back to try the soju Service was painfully slow. do not come in here expecting water refills, or to see the waitress after she brings out your food. despite the non-existent service, the food was just so good i'd have to give it 4 stars

I love this place, it's all the way across town from where I live but it's always worth the drive. Good food and good service, the prices are fair also. The only negative is that the bench style booths are wood and can be a little uncomfortable.

The food: Delicious with very good portions! The waitress made a mistake of giving me the wrong dish but she redid my order and offered my plate to the company I was with. :) The atmosphere: they have a DJ that plays a really good mix! I came here for my 25th birthday and we enjoyed the music over sushi and drinks. The customer service: although my waitress was very kind (and new).. Her higher up could use a class on proper customer service. I initially called earlier in the week to make a reservation for 20 people and called to confirm before the weekend. They said they "lost" the reservation :( then when we got there, they only had a table set up for 17 people and the manager was annoyed over getting another table for the additional 3 people that came (hello, this is why I made a reservation for 20). Other than that, the food was great and the music was great!

Very nice place hidden in this shopping mall. Service was less than good but mostly because the sushi chefs were cranking it out. I recommend the Hawaiian roll. It tastes like a California roll went to the fair and had a baby with the carney running the deep-fryer.

  • Dylan T.

This place isn't bad. The decor is nice, the "club" atmosphere on a Saturday night is kind of fun and they're open late. This is a decent place for sushi late-night. I wouldn't worry about the quality of the sushi, but I wouldn't say it's as good as Nama or some places in SF. However, it'll do the trick. The service was a little spotty, but not bad. If we're ever craving sushi and everywhere else is closed, I think we might stop in again. I wouldn't agree with a 4-star rating, but perhaps 3 or 3.5 is more accurate.

Come here all the time. Favorite sushi and Japanese food spot in the east bay. Happy hour food and drinks are awesome and great price. Typically always sit at the bar. All the sushi chefs are awesome and always remember us. Sushi is bomb udon is bomb sukiyaki is bomb never had anything bad here. Service is pretty good but again we always sit at the bar so we never have an issue. At 9 to midnight is happy hour and they dim the lights and have a DJ usually pretty good. Fun Friday and Saturday night atmosphere. One of the few places in the area still serving food till midnight. I try to go to other sushi places and am always disappointed. Ozora is the best.

Recently I've ordered to-go by phone twice from here. Both times all rolls ordered were super yummy, though I feel they're a little over-priced. I've only eaten in the restaurant once and yes, slow service. I'm glad that every time I've ordered to-go the food has been ready upon pickup, but not sure what's up with the soy sauce: Way too salty. Had to buy some from Trader Joe's... I love their sushi regardless and the atmosphere of the dining area.

I'll start off this review by saying I'm giving 2 stars solely for the fact that their sushi IS very good. Our rolls were delicious and good sized, as well. Unfortunately, the great tasting sushi couldn't overcome the horrible to-go service we received. Ordered our rolls and mochi ice cream, told to wait 15-20 minutes. We went to get some coffee and came back, my friend went in to get the food, and we were told one of the rolls they couldn't do. Didn't bother to call me, didn't bother to offer another roll in place for a discount, just we don't have it, here's your money back for it. To add insult to injury, I get home and the mochi is COMPLETELY melted. So you get an order for ice cream, prepare it, and then leave it sitting out?! I was absolutely furious at this point. I had to drive all the way back, complain about everything, they gave me new mochi, and I told them I would probably never return because of all the problems. Their response? "Sorry!" That was it. No discount, no offer to take care of things this time or another time, nothing. Even a more respectable restaurant would have at least refunded the ice cream for the inconvenience of having to drive all the way back for an idiot mistake on their part. It's too bad too, because the sushi was good. But on principle, I can't return to any business with poor customer service. That is definitely a deal breaker for me.

This place is amazing! It's my favorite sushi restraint! I have a strict diet of gluten free, dairy free and grain free, and they are always very accommodating. I would have to say my favorite is their hwe dup bop salad =) They have a DJ on Friday and Saturday at 9pm which makes it a fun place to start the night. And if you're looking to make a night out of it, they have a back room that is available for private parties with advanced notice.

I gave this restaurant five stars because I really like the sushi. It is delicious and fresh. They have a huge variety on the menu. I am very picky about the tuna I eat. Every tuna roll I have tried here, I have liked. The customer service has been okay, however when I've been here the restaurant was not busy.

Love this place! The sushi is always so refreshing and beautifully presented and service is surprisingly pretty quick. My only complaint is the customer service, though it can be hit or miss, the waitresses usually dont seem to enjoy their jobs but no biggie cause the food is worth it:)

This place... So unpretentious, large rolls, decent prices... I couldn't have opened a better sushi joint myself! When I'm craving for sushi, I can always depend on Ozora. Quality sushi that is consistent, service is great (they can sometimes get busy so cut them some slack, they aren't the Pope so they make mistakes), and location is great. Parking can get a bit hectic during the weekends and lunch rush with Trader Joe's and Chipotle nearby. My boyfriend and I like to go after 9pm.. Select rolls are half off and it turns into a random sushi music club. OZORA IS AWESOME!

  • Amy C.

To say I love Ozora is an understatement. I am addicted!!! We love the Summer Breeze, 49er roll w/ cucumber instead of rice and seaweed. Today I had a quick lunch and ordered the baked scallops and the cucumber salad with snow crab. The snow crab version is not on menu, but they were happy to make it. The scallops were cooked perfectly...the sauce is very sweet, but adding a little wasabi to the top of the scallop evened out the sweetness. The cucumber salad is the best I have ever had...crispy and refreshing! It was so good, I just had to Yelp about it!

Really disappointed by the quality of the food here. But of course, the cherry on top of the unappetizing sushi rolls are the ridiculous high prices AND misplaced orders. I decided to call in for a rainbow roll and caterpillar roll, which rang up to be $29. Pretty standard for sushi rolls (I guess), but for the crappy quality of food, it was RIDICULOUS. When I got home, I was really disappointed to see two wimpy rolls in my to-go container. Of course, after a bite of my "spider roll," I realized that they gave me a completely different roll. So great, I paid $12 something for a roll I didn't want. I would suck it up and say it happens, but when I dug into my rainbow roll I almost gagged. The fish on top was obviously more than a couple days old. The crab in the middle was so fishy and the shrimp on top was almost hard. Honestly, this place is overhyped by the "hip" atmosphere. Drive down the street and go to Momoyama instead.

Found this restaurant on Yelp while in Concord. I don't like sushi, but my husband does. Let's just say I have become a connoisseur of Chicken Teriyaki. This place has possibly the best mostly because you can get it spicy!! Served with rice and salad, its perfect! Thank goodness we have to go back to Concord soon!!!

Best sushi we have ever had. We just tried this place and hands down we absolutely adore it! The service was spectacular, the place was clean, didn't smell of fish, and the sushi tasted fresh! We tried the parmesan baked scallops, the tempura soup, we had the chuck norris roll which was awesome, one other roll I can't remember the name, we also had a salad which was so yummy with their house dressing and a glass of wine! Seriously we cannot wait to go back here and we recommend it 100% to anyone who loves a creative menu, succulent food, with great timely service!

I have never gone here for regular dinner, but happy hour here is great. It can get busy here, but more recently it's quieted down. They have a special room in the back for large parties. Friday nights they have an amazing DJ come in (DJ Ronald, call him DJ Ridic). Amazing music = amazing atmosphere = amazing time. Happy Hour - the sushi rolls here are pretty cheap. And small, but def. worth the cost. Tempura and spider rolls are my favorite. The boyfriend loves the seaweed salad. But the real reason we come here, is for the sake bombs. Large beer, hot sake = $8 SAKE SAKE SAKE. You could spend $20 and get a couple rolls, and a large sake bomb, and be good for the night.

LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! Steve, old Young and young young we're outstanding. Every roll was fresh and delicious. The sashimi was super fresh and generous. I highly recommend the JD roll, spicy, crispy and all time favorite. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!!

Excellent sushi. We had an appetizer and 2 rolls between two of us and we were totally stuffed for hours after that. We were served promptly and in fact, it is probably the fastest I've had sushi come out ever. The ambiance was nice too. I would totally recommend it. The reason for 4 stars was that our server could have been more friendly and checked up on us.

Great food, but kinda pricey. We ordered the dragon roll, fresh oysters, salads, and miso soup. The presentation of all our dishes down to the salad was excellent. The Dragon roll's tempura was crunchy and delicious. The fresh oysters were really fresh and flavorful, wish they could have put more. The salad was yummy. The decor of the place was very elegant. Service was ok, they had forgotten our order of edamame. Other than that, it was a good dining experience.

Happy hour is AMAZING! Although the restaurant itself is in a very unassuming shopping plaza, Ozora is great place to eat with a mellow atmosphere, good food, great music and fast service. While we were eating I noticed the dark espresso accented with light beige colors, with vibrant red fixtures and dimmed lights, overall they had a very hip, inviting ambiance. I'm not sure what time their happy hour runs 'til but we went there at about 9:00 PM and they had happy hour then and they're open until 10:30 on a weekday so I would assume that happy hour goes on until then. On their happy hour menu you can get simple rolls like California and spider roll for about 4-6 dollars, premium rolls with lots of goodies are anywhere from $8-$11 bucks, small carafe of sake went for about $4. We ordered the tempura roll and the spider roll, my friend had the teriyaki bento, and I had the tempura udon, spicy tuna hand roll and two carafes of sake all for $44! Overall I was very satisfied with the food, I've yet to find an udon noodle I didn't like. My only negative comment is that the sushi rice did seem a bit stiff for me and I think they were using some kind of long grain rice that came off a bit dry when you ate it but that wasn't too bothersome. I would never have thought to check this restaurant out if we hadn't been looking for the closest sushi place on the way home, but we will definitely be back to try out more of their food.

Grea sushi joint! I love the rolls there and my wife, who hates sushi, really likes the katsu chicken. The Godzilla rolls are the best I have ever had. The chefs are very fast and they're fun to chat with if you're sitting at the sushi bar. $2.95 draft sopporo makes this place a winner too. My only complaint is that the miso soup is a bit saltier than normal, but that's not a deal breaker for us.

  • danielle s.

I am a full on sushi snob... This is the first place in the area that I have found that it's good. We got the miso soup, side salad, jd roll and the I love you roll. They also gave us fresh salmon nigiri! All of it was delish! Every one was so friendly. I cannot rave enough about this place and it is just down the street! Cannot wait to try more things!

Sushi isn't the BEST I've ever had, but it's far from terrible. It's in a great little location, the atmosphere is fun (especially on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights - sometimes they'll even bring a DJ in!). Fun spot for late night food and/or drinks, especially with their evening happy hour. Only bummer is that the Happy Hour is unfortunately dine in only.

I like this place. It is very spacious and the food is smackin'! The best salad that I have ever had at a sushi joint. The Sushi was good too- fresh and good portions. Friday night was great because they had a DJ that plays a good variety of music. Definitely a great spot for sushi date and or a night out with the girls!

So far this is one of the best place I've tried for sushi in Concord. It is always fresh, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the sushi is fresh, tasteful and to expensive! The Martini drink was so good, I will be coming back to this place.

My GF wanted to have sushi for her Bday and wanted to go to Ozora. A little history I was unsure about this place because on my first visit about a year ago when we came in with a group of about 20 people I seen a dead mouse under our table. The servce and food was so so that day but I figured that they were busy so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. This time I went in knowing that they had a rodent issue in the past but since my friend works at a pest control company he explained that rodent problem can be solved pretty quick if done correctly. I thought a year would be enough time to resolve any rodent problems they had so I figured Id give it another try. Came in with a group of 4 and 1 child. We stood there waiting for awhile just to be acknowledged and it took longer than expected to be seated but that's to be expected so I let that slide. We were seated in a booth with dirty pillows and food in the cracks of the seats but that's to be expected. We had three different employees help us and it felt as if we were being passed around but that's OK I guess. When we were at our booth I could smell that they still had a rodent problem. I can describe it as what a mouse cage smells like. Ive had pet rodents and I know what they smell like. I didnt want my GF to feel bad because of her Bday and all so we hung in there and placed our order with the third waitress who BTW was very nice. Busy and running around but nice. I personally ordered a bento box with the chicken Katsu and teriyaki. When my food arrived it looked thrown together. Not a big deal if I can eat it. The Katsu breading was burned and the chicken was super dry. The Chicken teriyaki was equally cold and dry. OK now I'm a little unhappy but again I didn't want to cause a scene or mess up my GFs day. At the end of the meal I asked my group what they each felt was a fair yelp rating and they all pretty much answered between 1-3 stars. I will be generous and give 3 stars but by my calculations they really deserve about a 1.5 star rating for service, food quality, rodent smell and dirty booth. I mean what really else matters when going to a restaurant but having good food in a clean place? Oh and BTW I did notice that the wasabi was mixed from powder.

Ozora is a sushi restaurant that you would expect to be located in Downtown Walnut Creek, not a shopping mall located next to a high school in Concord. Since this place opened up about a year and a half ago, it looks pretty upscale compared to the rest of the establishments nearby, which have been there for years. The decor is nice, the booths are comfy, and the restaurant itself is really clean. Yeah, the food is pretty tasty, like the Wakame Salad and the Udon Combo -- great Udon Soup with a Spicy Sashimi Salad. The broth was well seasoned, and the sashimi was some of the freshest I've had. The service was attentive and polite, with frequent refills of green tea. However, for that location, the dinner prices are steeper than I would expect. Sounds like from some of the other reviews, happy hour is the best time to stop in.

Pretty solid Sushi here. I must admit I don't like it quite as much as Yokoso Sushi @ the Crossroads in Pleasant Hill, but alas that place was closed earlier this week. So we opted for Ozora Sushi, where I enjoyed, though didn't love, my sushi lunch. The toro was actually pretty tasty but the unagi wasn't all that impressive. They made an interesting roll called Sexy Sexy, but it was actually so spicy I couldn't really tell the fish flavors. I'd come back if I couldn't make it to Yokoso Sushi, is basically what it comes down to.

If I could give it more stars I would. The sushi was the freshest I have ever had. The rolls were well made and full of amazing flavors. The wait staff was nice and quick as well. My wallet will not enjoy the fact that I know of this place now. So damn good!!

Sushi here is always amazing and fresh!!! I really like the late hours too, makes it nice for that late night sushi craving. However on weekend evenings they have a DJ and it is LOUD. So just keep that in mind. If I'm tiered then I just order to go which is always ready promptly. Service isn't super, but it's not so horrible as people are describing. Flag someone down if you need something. All the waitresses are very nice. Great atmosphere, great sushi, great hours, and nice people.

i was looking for a place to go for my b-day dinner that was nice but not too overly priced. i saw the reviews for this place was won over by the happy hour deal and decent sushi rolls. Since then i have consistently visited several other times. I do have to say the last few times i did go to this place it was either a friday or saturday night and it literally feels like a club. They had a DJ at one point which is pretty cool but don't expect to have a conversation. It was too difficult trying to talk to whoever I was with. Besides that it's a pretty cool place. The happy hour menu is pretty good...and the rolls too.

Delicious Sushi. Fun Atmosphere on a Saturday night. Otherwise...really quiet and relaxing. I love coming here!

Loved it! You have to try the Chuck Norris Roll. Yes it even sounds cool too!

Went here last night, for the first time to celebrate a promotion (a friends, not mine unfortunately). It's a lot nicer on the inside then I thought it was going to be seeing as the shopping center it's in looks like something out of an old western movie. It was Happy Hour and they have a special menu with some really cheap drinks and rolls of sushi. I was with someone who is a vegetarian and they had a lot of good veggie options too. We had the Agedashi Tofu, a Philly Roll and a Yammy Yammy roll and everything was delicious. It can be a little hard to get your waitresses attention, but once you do they are very good at making sure you have everything you need.

I don't understand how this place any more than 3 stars. Really. My college roommate and I came during late night happy hour. We ordered off both the happy hour menu and the regular menu. Service was kind of crappy. We had to ask our waitress for something multiple times before she brought it. We ordered the tuna tataki, spider roll, spicy albacore crunch roll, and the tiger roll. Tuna tataki: 3/5. It wasn't inedible by any means. However, the spicy seasoning and sauce they POURED on top of the delicate tuna drowned out any flavor it could have had. It was way too overpowering. The bed of seaweed salad would have been enough with that tuna. Spider roll: 5/5. Even with my criticisms of this place, this place probably had one of the best spider rolls I've had. I don't like my spider rolls TOO big and I don't like lettuce in my spider rolls. The soft shell crab was perfectly crispy and the sauce on top wasn't too overpowering. It had a perfect balance of flavors. Spicy albacore crunch roll: 4/5. My second favorite food of the night. The crunch was crispy, which is a big deal to me, after having crunch rolls with no crunch (the crunchy parts became soggy!!!!). The spicy albacore could have been any fish and we wouldn't have been able to tell... but it wasn't bad by all means. Tiger roll: 2/5. Never again. It wasn't completely inedible... and let's be real, we don't waste. I just wish this wasn't the last roll that came out because it literally and figuratively left a bad taste in my mouth. It's a roll with cooked salmon topped with raw salmon. I liked the raw salmon. Quality wasn't too bad... it was the cooked salmon roll inside that I just did not like. I think it was honestly just a bad choice on our part. If I lived nearby I'd probably come back, but I don't even live up in norcal... so I'll probably never be back again lol Oh and I was excited because my friend said there'd be EDM... Nope. It was some local DJ testing things out, and honestly I didn't like it.

Ozora's happy hour is unheard of in the Concord area. Their fish is fresh, although not as delicious as my favorite sushi place in the area. They still do a terrific job. I've had both their rolls and their nigiri, and both are pretty decent. While I'm not a big roll person, I had to try their sumo roll. It was ok, but not something I would ever order again. I definitely recommend their uni! But then again, uni is amazing no matter what!

Ordered the hamachi kama for takeout and thought why it smelled more fishy than usual. Not knowing it was bad, I ate it. An hour later, got food poisoning. I paid $15 for a fish that made me sick. I have never had sanitary issues at any Japanese restaurants until last week. This place is dirty! They should inspect it if it was up to code.

This place is my regular place ... the best sushi around concord. Inside is elegant n luxury, price okay not too expensive, food of course tasty & very good. Spicy ramen (you can add extra something else to put in it), spicy tuna salad, spider rolls, chicken katsu, all other rolls pretty good too. Their tempura very crispy n good. Try it you will like it.

More Ozora Sushi tonight! Okay, I think it's now safe to say their sushi is addictive. VERY fresh! VERY flavorful! The PERFECT kind of spicy! We love it - our new local favorite!

That was an excellent lunch! Don't let the strip-mall look fool you, they are absolutely gorgeous inside with delicious food. I loved the yammy yammy roll. It was the best vegetarian roll I've ever had. My service was very fast, but not rushed. Atmosphere was calming.

We had an appointment nearby so decided to stop in for lunch today. We were greeted right away and the staff were very kind. The iced tea was fresh and had a tropical (mango?) note to it. We had the bento lunch special with teriyaki chicken, gyoza and mixed tempura. The gyoza was excellent. The wrappers were green in color and the filling was tasty. The tempura was crispy. The batter was not as thin as I like but it wasn't as thick (doughy) as they serve at Hanabi. The sauce for the teriyaki chicken had a hint of caraway or licorice or something like that. Because of that I didn't really like the flavor but the presentation and cut of the chicken was good. The furniture and surroundings were really nice. It felt more upscale than I expected for a restaurant in a shopping center. The staff were really nice.

We dined there last night (Friday). Great food, ambiance, loved the DJ, good looking crowd ... I felt like I was in the city. Definitely going back.

I used to not like this place, not because of the food, but due to the bad service experience. Our group usually come here late on Fridays. This place can be busy and too noisy (because of the high-volume DJ mixed music). Thus, if you are looking for a relaxing Friday night, look elsewhere. Dinner might be a different story though. The Food. Their food is really good for the price, especially their during the HH. I think we've ordered everything from the HH menu. The Service. Service has improved over time. But still, everytime I go to this place, I feel like I'm being rushed to pay the bill. The server keeps coming checking if we already paid. Overall, I always satisfied whenever we eat here.

Came here based on the reviews I read on yelp. I really do not understand why people like this place so much...small portions, high prices, and not so bright service. I ordered a hot tea and a water and was brought a hot tea and sake. I ordered their sushi roll special and the sashimi dinner. The over the rainbow roll was pretty good but not worth the price. The fish in the sashimi tasted fishy. Just on price alone there is no way I am coming back to this place.

Had a yummy blackened cod dish (Gindara ?) that was on the nightly special board which was fantastic. Yum! Place is slightly pricey but good.

They have pretty good happy hour on Friday and Saturday with special prices on rolls, beer, sake, and even sake bombs if you're up to it. They got a good variety of rolls (my favorite being the Chuck Norris roll lol) and even the bento boxes are pretty good. The prices in comparison to other sushi places I've been to is fair so its not costing too much out of your wallet. The only thing that I don't like is that its closed on Sunday and at times when the weekend is winding down and I want to grab some sushi, I would prefer to go here since its close to where I live but can't since its not open.

  • Mike B.

This place has a great happy hour and their "exotic" rolls are not overpriced at all. At all times they have Kirin on tap for $3 and during happy hour their larger beers are $4. They are also very good with groups here.

  • Daryl B.

Food was really great tonight (11.24.2001), as usual, some of the best sushi I have had in a while. Great Sake list also. It was really busy so the service was a little below the norm.

We came here during their late night Happy Hour (stumbled upon it by accident) great prices, good quality. Where else in this town could you stumble in for sushi at 11:30 and get great service and prices? Definitely recommend it.

I was excited to try an new sushi place..but was sadly disappointed. The servers were friendly ..but the chef got the order wrong. Normally I would let this slide people make mistakes right...I ordered a 49'er roll and was really looking forward to it ...but the crab meat used in the roll was bad imitation crab and they used a weird may or sauce it tasted sweet like miracle whip...Yuck! I probably wont go here again..because I was so disappointed but I do believe in second chances..so if I'm in the area maybe.

Our Vday dinner was not good. The way they butchered the Tuna made it so tough to eat. They had pretty slow service considering the emptiness of the restaurant at 9pm. The food just wasn't up to my taste. I left really dis-satisfied.

  • Eve C.

We continue to enjoy the food and the prompt friendly service here. I always get sushi and hubby gets the bento box because he's all about volume when it comes to food. With that said, the chicken katsu is tender and juicy white meat with a nice crispy panko crust. He always gets a California roll with his box and it's your typical roll--what can you really say about California roll? I like the specialty sushi rolls, but I also like the nigiri. I haven't had a miss yet at this restaurant and I've been here dozens of times. It's a good casual inexpensive meal.

Heard about this place from friends and another plus is that it's right around the corner from our house. We're big fans of rolls, sake and maguro. We ordered 4 rolls and some nigiri. All were awesome! Plus, the garlic edamame was off the hook. This is my new fav sushi place!

  • Aim E.

I have only had their food via take -out. The spicy tuna and rock'n'roll were both pretty good and affordable. The actual restaurant itself (I went in to pick up the food) is pretty decent inside. They need vents in their or something 'cuz it felt a little stuffy. Also - the hostess wasn't particulary good. She seemed like she didn't care at all that I was there - didn't make me feel good :(.

I've had three meals from Ozora and they are pretty okay. Their fish is excellent quality, and you certainly pay for that. Today was the first time I dined in the restaurant and I was surprised to find it practically empty. I had the udon lunch special: a bowl of udon and a salad. The chirashi was okay: a bed of mixed greens, small pieces of sashimi (excellent btw), served a-top warm rice and topped with a siracha dressing. The soup had a lot of potential. I got the chicken udon because that was the special, and the broth was excellent, the noodles cooked to perfection. The vegetables were scant though and there were less than ten small pieces of chicken in the bowl. In short I recommend the sashimi, but be prepared to pay for it. Their soup is not the best and further counted against them is that my tea was never refilled even though I was only one of three customers. I think Toyo Sushi up the street has fish that is just as good, for less dollars and with more attention.

This is by far the best sushi place in Concord. We've tried at least 5 other places and this one is the most delicious, fresh, with best atmosphere, best customer service, best prices for what you get. The portions are great compared to what you pay for. Other places you can pay for more or less but you're not getting what you're paying for, this places knows sushi. There's so much to choose from, the rolls are so tasty, tons of texture, flavors, colors. The nigiri and chirachi are to die for. Fish is really fresh, not mushy, you get quality pieces. This is a fancy sushi restaurant but you're not paying fancy prices for what you're getting. This is the place to go. The decoration are not cheap looking or generic, they have good design, contemporary and soothing. The only thing I mind at times is when the DJ is there and the music is too loud. But you can avoid that if you come during the day. Happy Hour every day at 9pm. Make friends with the staff, they are sweet and very friendly. Sit at the bar and get to know them. It's always good to know who's making your food :) I love this place and this doesn't compare to any other sushi place in town.

I did like the happy hour food but I don't think it was worth the mediocre food. The rolls were rather small. The worst part was the LOUD rave music playing all night! The Udon broth was good.

Picked this place for my sons 14th b-day dinner spot. Small portions a bit pricey if not within happy hours. Sushi was not bad. Service was very friendly and they have a big screen that played a pixar film. So my little one was pretty much entertained. The place itself is very relaxed and the interior is sleek and modern. Nice place to take out the family.

I still like this place but the crowds are getting obnoxious. I know you are drunk and having fun but don't spoil my time please. Still one of the few good late night places around. Also, sometimes the DJ's lack of skills scare me.

Best Japanese food in the area. Has good vegetarian options. Definitely come here for fix. Agedashi tofu is delicious. The reason for the two stars is that our order was messed up and there was no apology. By the time the tonkatsu came, I was finished. Now not sure if we will go back. So sad because the food is good.

I went here for the 1.50 draft beer they have from 10pm-12am i believe on the weekends with some friends. We sat down the decor was great very modern and comfortable. The whole inside is very welcoming. If this sushi restaurant was in downtown walnut creek you would not be able to get a seat. The food was great! I had actual sushi the fish was fresh the beer was great and the staff was very hospitable. I will be making this one of my top picks for sushi in the near future.

We've been here twice now and have really enjoyed our meals both times. They have done a wonderful job with the decor. It's very modern looking and has a really warm atmosphere. The food is excellent and even my mom (who is from Japan) really enjoyed her meal here. They have a LONG list of standard rolls and creative rolls. Their bento box dinner is a great option. You can choose two items (plus soup, salad, and rice) for $13.95 or three items for $16.95. You can choose from items such as chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, gyoza, tempura, California rolls, etc. There is always more than enough food in these combinations! My husband loves the $1.50 draft beer served in a frosted mug. Finally, the service here is very gracious. We had the sushi chef as our waiter on our first visit and he was fabulous and went out of our way to make sure we were happy with our meals. The second time we were there, our waitress was very good as well. This is definitely the place to go for a variety of Japanese food. You can bring ovo-lacto vegetarians and meat-lovers here because there are so many different items to choose from.

I went here the other day and was impressed by everything. The decor is clean and almost swanky. You wouldn't expect it from the outside. The service was great, but most importantly the food was amazing. Well, I had a vegetarian meal, but my bf said it was the best nigiri he's ever had. I was very pleased by the amount of vegetarian options and was happy that I could eat something more complex than just a cold cucumber roll. We're going back this weekend to check out their happy hour.

This was the first time we've been to Ozora. Having been a long time customer of Suwas we were looking forward to something new and exciting. Suwas has closed after 32 years and will be much missed! Our experience was anything but new and exciting! To start, the AC wasn't working and the temperature that day was in the 80's, the atmosphere in the restaurant that day was sweltering at best, the seating was uncomfortable (you sit on boxes made from plywood), and the food was the absolute worst! My entire party left after trying to eat what can only be described as horribly prepared and presented food and immediately the whole party was sick to their stomachs and having to spend the entire night in the bathroom. I have turned in a complaint with the County Health Department as well. The help was rude to say the very least, they barely spoke any understandable english and I didn't see anyone old enough to be running or managing a restaurant more or less old enough and experienced enough to have gone through the years it would take to be a good sushi chef. This was a very poor experience and we will never go back and I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone! Boy do we miss Suwas! Run do not walk past the door as you may catch something!

This place has great food and a really nice upscale atmosphere as well. One of the nicest looking Sushi place in the area. There food looks and tastes fresh and is well presented. They have an excellent menu with many specials and a happy hour. I had always been a repeat customer of Momoyamas until this place opened and I gave it a test. I prefer Ozora now as the food is just as good or better. I like there selection better here and the place is much nicer inside. I highly recommend you give it a try.

My husband told me to pick a restaurant for my birthday. I have been wanting to try this restaurant out, and I was sooo HAPPY I did! We are always skeptical on trying new restaurants, but I was so impressed!! The Decor is sooo gorgeous and clean. I got the bento box, kappa maki rolls, and tempura. All really delicious. I also really love how they have a kids plate menu. My girls loved the chicken katsu!(Of course they loved also the big screen TV showing Kung Fu Panda!) The staff was so nice! They sang happy birthday to me with a special dessert they made. It was just overall a very nice and memorable birthday, of course because of Ozora. Can't wait to bring the rest of my family.

Since 2 stars is defined as "mey, I've had better," that's where I'm pegging it. Positives - the caterpillar roll was good, as was the unagi nigiri. The decor is quite attractive. Negatives - they were not crowded yet it took 30 minutes to get any of our food. The attractive benches at the tables are quite uncomfortable. My biggest annoyance was we wanted some seaweed salad ($4) but decided to "upgrade" to the Ahi Poki (or something like that) which as $12 and supposed to be a tuna/seaweed salad. What it was was a tiny amount of seaweed on a regular lettuce salad topped with 4 nice strips of raw ahi. What?! $12? I could have ordered the regular salad and an ahi sushi and gotten notably more for notably less money. Not impressive to me. Perhaps they were short-handed and certainly the wait staff wasn't experienced - the person in charge was running around a good deal. So certainly not terrible but I doubt I'll be back.

This is the best place to get sushi near Walnut Creek or in Concord. The value is great. Great fresh fish, good service and creative rolls. Perfect ambience and family friendly. I love this place, my favorites are Lion King, Chuck Norris and Double Double. Fantastic and highly recommended. Deep fried oysters rock too!

WOW. Service was great-- sashimi platter for two was absolutely delicious and WAY more food than the two of us could eat. We'll definitely be back. I'm not sure how long the place has been there. I've passed by it so many times but the outside did NOT look appealing. The shopping center certainly needs a facelift. The inside of the restaurant definitely got my attention quick-- swanky and beautiful. LOVE the red accents and the cushy red pillows in the booths.

I was really excited that there was a place in Concord open later and discounted! The food was average with good prices. We ordered some simple sushi rolls and I knew something tasted "different" and it took me a while, but there was too much sugar in the sushi rice. The prices and atmosphere was good enough that I'll return for the late "happy hour". The decor was really nice considering the older area that it's in.

FAMILY FRIENDLY SUSHI JOINT?!?! WHO KNEW? This place has THE best and freshest sushi around. Their ambiance is awesome. But as the mom of twin two-year olds, I have to say their best asset is that this place totally "gets it" when it comes to kids. Who would've figured, right? But they expect to get families with small kids in the early evening hours and plan accordingly. They remove all the "stuff" from your table that kids love to grab, spill and knock over. They quickly deliver drinks in plastic cups, not overfilled, with colored straws. They give the kids their own melamine plates and those fun training chopsticks. The waitresses are SO sweet and so is the manager/owner. They always talk to all the kids and will make amendments to menu items that work for the kids. But you rarely have to do that because they have a kids bento box for lunch AND dinner that comes with soup, rice, tempura and another item of your choice. (Note: they also have a 2 or 3 item bento box for dinner for adults, which is unusual - most places only do bentos for lunch). Their saba shioyaki is so yummy! And their tuna sashimi is so good that even my 2 year olds love it. We are true fans and we are VERY PICKY sushi eaters. Go if you can, esp. if you are a family that wants a night out, but needs to have the kids in tow. Oh! And try their cold sake. I forget which one it is we get - it's not cheap... $17.95 for a bottle, but it serves two, generously.)

Wow, right in our back yard is this amazing restaurant. It has the feel of some of the top Sushi restaurants in San Francisco. The ambience is perfect as is the sushi. The menu is creative and innovative. The Poki is some of the best we've ever had. The fish is fresh and flavorful. The homemade monkfish liver is not to be missed! The have a good select of wines by the glass as well as an extensive sake list. We've eaten at Ozora several times and have not been dissappointed witth anything including the service. We look forward to many more meals!

My husband and I had lunch here during the week. The rolls were great! The service was absolutely horrible!! The waitress was probably the rudest waitress that i have ever encountered. However, the food really was great. We had the JD roll and the Big Mac roll. I would suggest both of them and plan to go back frequently. I don't mind rude wait staff..i just don't tip them. After all, I am going there for the food, not them, right?? That is why I gave them 4 stars.

This place looks more like a modern lounge than a sushi restaurant. The prices are good compared to other Japanese restaurants. The portions are large. The wait staff has always been very friendly and attentive. I'm pretty picky with fish to rice to veggie portions in sushi, and this place gets it right. The menu has a LARGE selection of rolls, none really authentic, but still yummy. They also have a great Happy Hour menu after 9PM, $5-10 for rolls.

    (5)
  • Alison C.

This place is awesome! Good prices, really nice decor, nice staff, too. The happy hour is what sets this Japanese restaurant apart-most sushi places close by 10:00PM, which is a bummer, but not this place. This place is open until midnight, and the happy hour can get you a lot of food and drinks for really cheap.

It's 7:30pm, you are working near Ygnacio Valley High, and you have a craving for sushi. Where do you go? Ozora Sushi will be your spot! While on my Yelp app, I couldn't help but notice that this place had happy hour. I was hungry and couldn't wait for 9:00pm for the start of happy hour, so I opted to come here at 7:30pm for dinner. The mood of this establishment is relaxing, nice warm colors, lots of extra room between tables, the place feels small and cozy. Sitting in the booths with the red pillows added to the cozy feeling as I started to order from the dinner menu. The Chuck Norris Roll was the first on my mind, and it set the tone for the night. Sushi was amazing, lots of variety, and the prices were good. Some were a bit higher, I would say half my bill were rolls higher than $10. When I was done eating, the nights were dimmed down, the music volume came up, and I completely forgot about happy hour. My waitress came me the happy hour menu, and I was overcome with joy! The prices were even better, and there were things that weren't in the dinner menu. I will have to save the happy hour for another visit, and I'm thinking that will be soon.

F'n DELICIOUS! I was a little hesitant and annoyed walking in with the LOUD ASS music goin but the food definitely made up for that. :) and i am especially picky when it comes to sushi.. We ordered the Hawaiian, the J.D., spider roll and shrimp tempura. All super delish! Great service and they give you gum with your check too! Love it Will definitely come back if in the area ;)

I've been here twice and was amazed each time. First time was in 2013 with some of my boyfriends friends. I am not a fan of sushi but this place was amazing he ordered so many different cooked sushi. Although there was left overs it was awesome. That day was full of sake bombs and banging on the tables. The second time was a few weeks ago we all got together again for round two. This time I had a soju to myself and everyone else was taking sake bombs. The price is decent for drinks and sushi. Although for 6 pieces of sushi on happy hour menu is almost 10 I felt as if I shouldve just ordered from the regular menu. I am trying to think what has made us go back and it would definitely be the happy hour hours we all go to school and work late so it's nice to have somewhere close by for us to all gather. The atmosphere is nice as well as the decor. I can't forget the awesome djs they have.

Very nice place. Have ordered take outs for a couple of years and always have been pleased with this place. Sushi rice is always fresh unlike many other places and they have many creative sushi rolls. Too bad we moved and now this place is a bit far from us.

Came here with a friend and her sister on a Saturday night, we were able to be seated immediately. I have to say the decor is very nicely and tastefully done. There are pillows in the booths on the side, and the overall ambiance is very calm. Service was very polite and timely. The cups, plates, bowls were unique and matches the atmosphere. We ordered hot sake, four rolls and a rice bowl. The rice bowl came with miso soup and a salad with very nice dressing (love!). I apologize in advance, I'm terrible at describing sushi and it doesn't help that they don't have a menu online, so here's my best attempt at a short blurb on each. Osaka roll: this was one of their specials so I'm not sure if it's on the menu regularly. I honestly do not remember this roll except that it was good and it had raw tuna or salmon on the inside. If you aren't afraid of raw fish, try this one! Power roll: this had soft shell crab in it and avocado, it was okay. Bay Island: this is a baked roll, with scallop on top, SO good! Tiger roll: spicy salmon on the inside, raw salmon on top. pretty good. Donburi bowl: bbq unagi over rice, awesome. Hot sake: first time I've had this, it's quite good! Overall, you pay a little more for a better atmosphere - a classy sushi restaurant.

This place is wonderful! No complaints the sushi not only is presented nicely it taste great. To me everything is well priced and the atmosphere is very trendy. I went on a saturday and they had a dj playing i dont if that is a regular thing, but I have no complaints with it.

Got a bit lost trying to find this gem in Conocrd! Was seated right away and didn't know they had happy hour till I flipped through the menu.. Had to ask the server for the happy hour menu.. Would be nice if they handed that along with the regular menu. Food was good.. Must try the bacon wrapped shrimp. Will definately come back again especially since the atmosphere was great! Theres a live DJ playing music right in front

A little pricey, for the location near Trader Joe's. Bento box to go, with mixed tempura and chicken teriyaki were pretty good, crunchy roll tempura has a lot of crunch. Spider roll with soft-shell crab is just ok. Overall good place, needs to lower prices though. Modern, clean atmosphere. Great for date night.

This place has a dope happy hour. I believe it starts at 9:00PM everyday. The prices here can't be beat. A large beer is $4. A small beer is $2. Sake bombs and food are also decently price. We only ordered stuff from the happy hour menu. There was no real reason for us to look at the regular menu. Service was cool and since I came on a weeknight, it was easy to get a big table for my group of 10. The atmosphere was ambient, the furniture was nice, and the I had a good time. I highly recommend this place!

EEK - ME THINKS NOT. Seriously this is a shame. The location was nice and it looks nice from the outside, sushi however were TINY - and by tiny I mean very thinly slices pieces of fish. Very skimpy. Also one of the pieces on my son's plate actually bled - with bright red blood - I've never seen anything like it. It looked awful so I just threw it away. Service also lacked. It was constantly looking for servers to help us - even when paying, I had to go upfront myself to avoid a huge wait. I will not come back.

Food was pretty good but service, oh wow! The beezy who greeted us was rude! Like she didn't want to be bothered. She didn't smile when we walked in, she took us to the table and put the menus on the other side of the table, didn't hand them to us, put them on the other side of the table! Our waitress was cool....not very attentive but whatever. Probably won't be back

Any time a sushi place (or any place for that matter) has Happy Hour, I'm all over it! My only experience here was with a large group of friends, during Friday night Happy Hour so I totally wasn't surprised about the slow food service. One great thing about this night was the Sake bombs. I think they were about 7 or 8 dollars and we got about 5 or 6 sake bombs from a large order. This particular night, I was drunk before the food came, so the name of the sushi roll I ordered had escaped my memory before I received it. Although, I do remember it being pretty small, but yummy nonetheless. The fried oysters tasted pretty yummy too. My second favorite part of this meal (the first favorite being the Sake bomb appetizers, of course) was the dessert. Deep fried ice cream is a double whammy of greatness. Green tea would have earned the 5th star alone, but they only deep fry vanilla. It did get finished, but green tea would have gotten finished faster. If I am ever in the area, I'd definitely go again, but on first impression, I like Ozara.

Wanted to try a new place & this is based on TOGO. Inside it's a nice place. I ordered food to go. On the waitress' recommendation ordered a fish dinner since the seabass teriyaki was sold out. I said it was for my daughter & asked 3X if it was fishy. She said no & it's really good. Once we got home the fish was mediocre & kinda fishy & had little bones in it (ugh). To top it off it was undercooked! I had to bake it in the oven ultimately tossing it. It wasn't right. The beef teriyaki dinner was ok, nothing special. Portions are little & price was on the higher side for what you get. We were still hungry! The miso was not very good either. Overall disappointed. We actually ordered more food from Tatsu Sushi our GO TO place. Sad. We gave it a shot & they didn't come through. I'd say steer clear unless you want to be underwhelmed.

I am a night owl. If I had the ability to see in the dark, i would probably never wander out into the sun. I mean, everything would be less crowded! I digress. AAANywhooo I appreciate restaurants that open later. Ozora opens to 12. Not only that, they reward you for coming in later with happy hour prices! Kewl! Decor and ambiance is pretty cool. I went on a friday night and they brought in a DJ. It was mostly hip-hop/rnb but he played some pretty awesome songs from back in the day. Candy Rain etc.? At first, i was kind of confused like.. was the place about to turn into a club or what? But you know - i enjoyed it. The food was as good as you could expect for the area. Ordered a bowl of noodles, a roll and some sashimi. Everything was pretty cool. I'm a fan

I am so impressed with this place! Vegetarian sushi is marked with a "V" and is not just boring avocado cucumber. Okay, its not Cha-Ya but this is Concord so its still impressive. Service was fast and polite. Ambiance is wonderful....except for the baby someone brought that kept screeching. People with loud children do not belong in romantic restaurants but till parents catch a clue this will continue to happen.

Came to Ozora because our dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant was not honored. But I'm glad that happened because Ozora is awesome! Such a great vibe, open and spacious dining, and delicious food. The time to be here seems to be late night. I was recently at the Captain's Chest and peeped in the windows to Ozora's - people were sake bombing, there was a DJ, the atmosphere was so lively. My one con: getting the check took forever! I'm all for lounging after a meal, but our server didn't check on us after we had finished. I had to get up and ask for the check. Other than that one hiccup - I would go back again.

The food here was good but the sevice was not very good. They need more servers because mine was neglectful and showed no interest in us. She even asked if she was getting a tip. What kind of service is that? Food was great though.

I have to say I only tend to go to sushi on weekends as I know that is when the fish is the freshest. The chirashi lunch was very fresh. They were nice enough to let us in 2:30 but we felt a bit rushed. The food did come out quickly and the drinks were refilled in a timely matter. Seafood udon was okay, broth not the most flavorful. Hanabi 1 roll was good and nice size. The spicy scallop handroll fabulous. Decors is very nice inside.

YUMMMMMMYYYYY!!!! We have found our new regular sushi place. We moved here recently from San Diego, and we love our sushi, and are so happy that this place lives up to its reviews and is so near our home. The ambiance is nicer than most sushi places, softer lighting, not so sterile. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Prices are fair for the portion sizes. We had rolls, nigiri and a poke salad and all were excellent. Fish is fresh, just the right amount of seasoning and sauces, rice is perfect.

First time for everything as people say... 1st yelp review ever!!! 1st time dining at this restaurant 1st time I'm this upset to entice me to write a review right after I got home from the restaurant Food: 3 stars, nothing great or memorable besides what is about to come in my review Appetizers: Agedashi tofu- one of the worst, not much taste and tofu was not cooked to the right texture. Ankimo- Good, probably the only thing that was good, but I've had better. Entree: Beef sukiyaki- Alright but a little on the sweet side, so you definitely can't eat too much Sashimi combination- fishes were alright, did not taste that fresh (hamachi and white tuna) Ama ebi- even before tasting i could tell it was not that fresh due to the color, and I was right. (Go figure) Also ordered a total of 5 rolls; 2 baked, a spicy tuna, Hanabi-2, and Cherry blossom. None were anything great, just ok. Now to the part where I got upset.... I came here for my husband's birthday dinner with my father-in-law and 3 kids. When I ordered the sashimi combination, I asked for just white tuna and hamachi since I don't like all of the variety of fishes. On the menu, it costs $17.95 for either combination or just hamachi and $16.95 for white tuna. When the bill came, they charged $20.95. How can they justify charging that much more than either option just because we requested a specific combination? Shouldn't a restaurant want to make diners happy so they'll come back, but here they charge. So I thought maybe I could tip 15% instead of 20%, but that choice was taken from me. When I got to the bottom of the bill, they had already added gratuity of 18%. Our party consisted of myself, my husband, father-in-law, my 2 older kids (10 & 11 years old) and my 1 year old baby. Since when does a restaurant count a baby as a paying customer??? My husband and I eat out our fair share and we enjoy going to nice restaurants for date nights. Never have I been this dissatisfied with a specific restaurant.

Went again recently to Ozora with my grandparents and bestie.. Food was of ok quality but the service was sooooooo sloooowww... I think Paint dries faster.. It also took near 30 minutes for us to get our check after asking for it at least three times!

I ate dinner here for the first time last night. The food was very good! I would give the food 4 stars. The service, however, was another story. We were a party of 2 ordering an appetizer and 2 rolls and our dinner took 2 hours in total! At most sushi restaurants the rolls come out much quicker that I expect... this is not that kind of place. And the person who put the water comment below is completely correct. You definitely have to flag someone down to get water (or tea) refills. Overall it was a good place if you're not in a rush. The ambiance is nice and the food is really good.

Having had Japanese fare at some of the best restaurants in Washington D.C, I'd say that this place is very good. I have been to this place many times, and have never had a bad meal. The decor is very nice and clean. Their food ranging from their Bento Boxes with Rolls and Tempura, Appetizers, Udon and Sushi are all really good. Can't comment on their Sashimi - never tried one, but am thoroughly impressed by their appetizers (the Agedashi Tofu - Yum!). Nice selection of Desserts too. I have so much more to try in this place. A bit pricey, like all Japanese restaurants, but sounds like the Happy Hour prices must be good.

This place just opened next to my weekly karaoke spot, The Captain's Chest ( yelp.com/biz/captains-ch… ). Emily J. and our respective sweethearts decided to check it out last night before singing our faces off! I thought it was nice. The decor is really hip. I love the dark wood bar and the booths with red pillows. I got the Dragon roll, the Angel Mama roll, and a California roll too share with my husband. The rolls are huge! I did OK, but my husband has a small mouth, and he had a hard time getting the pieces into his mouth. It was messy. Even I , with my bigger mouth, had difficulty with the Angel Mama. The Dragon Roll's eel topper was yummy to me, fishy to the husband. Neither of us was super impressed with the sushi. I want to talk about the chopsticks and their rests. The chopsticks were too slippery. They kept falling out of my hand and dropping the sushi. The chopstick rests were clear and looked like a wave, a dragon, or the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile, depending on who you are. The veritable Rorschach inkblot of chopstick rests. Sweet! I might go back here because it's next door to the Chest, but otherwise i wouldn't.

Usually only go for the happy hour menu. Pricing is good and food is decent. I always order udon and spicy tuna, husband orders chuck Norris and a couple other of those froufrou rolls. I get this place three stars because it's open late and it has a really decent happy hour menu. If you don't go during happy hour you're spending way too much on the mediocre sushi. I would have to say that they're sashimi and simple rolls are higher quality than the fancy ones and a much better value. If you come on Friday and Saturday nights there is a live DJ sometimes he's good and sometimes he looks like he's just learned how to play music. I don't recommend taking a date here during these times because it's very loud and you can't even hold a conversation with the people at your table.

This place has a great happy hour (9pm to close)! The prices are great and the food is good. The tempura is crispy and the udon (around $7) is really satisfying. They do have rolls on the happy hour menu, but it is limited. They do feature popular rolls like CA, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, spider, and dragon. Yum yum yum! Now for the good stuff, the drinks here are sooo good and reasonably priced. The large sake bomb (sapporo) can be shared among 5-6 people. The soju comes in a carafe so it is meant for sharing! I really like the yogurt sojo...mmmm frothy! The drinks are reason enough to come here.....be careful! The service is nice and accommodating. The bathrooms are clean. There is plenty of parking because it is located in a strip mall. There are plenty of tables and even a private room in the back for events or very large parties. Annnd there is a DJ for happy hour (at least on the weekends)! Eat/Drink it. Really Really Like It. Repeat Often.

I love happy hour and I love Japanese food. Happy Hour + Sushi? Yes please! Four of us on a Thursday night. We sat at the bar, and the chef handed us an appetizer. I had no idea what it was, tempura something with sauce? it was goooood. I'm proud to say I experienced my first sake bomb at this spot. The chef went the whole nine and set them up for us; he poured our beer in glasses, set chopsticks on each of them, and carefully placed the sake glasses on top. He yelled ICHI NI SAN SAKE BOMB! hit the counter, and we raced to finish. We made a mess! FUN! Soon after we were dancing in our seats to the random techno music playing. Dragon roll has always been one of my faves, and I was not disappointed. I've never ordered my own Lion King roll, but I did try my friend's order-- it was p e r f e c t.

My all time favorite sushi place. Staff is friendly and quick to take your order. It's always clean, and the fish is never gross. They use real wasabi and ginger which is rare in concord. Plus they're open late and I love their happy hour.

My honey and I met Rachel H. and her honey here for dinner last night. The restaurant is decorated beautifully. I felt very hip sitting in a hip looking booth in a hip looking restaurant with my hip fiance and our hip friends. I was excited when I saw the selection of sushi rolls. Some have fun names. There is a roll called Chuck Norris. That's fun. My fiance and I got the Gyoza roll, Godzilla roll, and Yammy Yammy roll. I thought they were all okay, not great. I've definitely had my fair share of delicious sushi and these rolls just weren't as good as I've had elsewhere. I did like that the Yammy Yammy roll has green beans in it in addition to the yam. As Rachel H. already mentioned, the rolls were all really big. I felt bad for my fiance and friends having to watch me attempt to eat rolls that were way too big for my mouth. I definitely wouldn't suggest coming here on a first date, at least not if you're planning to order sushi. Nothing is sexy about spilling raw fish and rice down the front of you. The staff were all very nice and very generous with the water refills. The food all seems well priced. They have a large flat screen TV that was playing pop videos when we came in and halfway through our meal switched to Spongebob Squarepants. I'm not sure if I like watching a show about sea creatures while eating sea creatures. We will probably be back since we frequent this shopping center but I think I may try something non-sushi in the future.

Having two hungry people who's at a different locaton and wants to meet in between makes you search for a place that's really close by. I happen to pass by this place all the time but keeps on forgetting it's there until I yelped for sushi. My friend and I had dinner service here and I give them 4 star for ambiance! It's very different from your local joint but it kinda reminds me of RA Sushi decor with all of the the red and black theme going on. I love that their floor looks like its wood (I'm not a wood master so I wouldn't know), the space has an open space feel to it and not stuffy, the tables can actually sit 4-5 people or more and it has these square cushions that you can lean on to not feel the wooden seats. The miso broth is pretty good. I just wish that their tofu is a lil bit bigger and they need to add a little bit more seaweed to it. We ordered Sexy Sexy, Sweet Surrender and Rainbow roll. The first two is similar except one has cream cheese in it and the other has much more ingredients and a lot bigger. The batter from the tempura is pretty light and it doesn't over power the roll. The fish's coloring was right and there was no after taste to it. I kinda scarred my friend from the last place we went to and this was 2x better even though we paid more. The wasabi is toned down for those who can't handle it, but for us we had to ask for extra because 1 lil scoop is only good for one person. It barely cleared up my sinuses if you asked me. My friend's son got the Chicken Terriyaki bento and it came with rice, soup, tempura and a pickled dish. It looked so good that my friend and I was eye-ing it too.ha haha For dessert, we had the tempura fried ice cream. Inside was vanilla and it came with chocolate and raspberry sauce. If they asked us what flavor of ice cream, I would've said Green Tea coz tempura ice cream isn't right unless you use Green Tea. Too bad I'm moving away from this area but my friend will come back more often, especially when it's near Peet's coffee coz she needs it when she drives back home. P.S. for all those who complained that this place is pricey, check the other 4 starred rating sushi places and compare it from quality of food, location, ambiance etc. to this one. This one is a winner to me and they have plenty of parking!

I love this place! Pros: fresh fish, works late, has a DJ, nice decor. Cons: if the restaurant is full..don;t even go in-it will take forever for your food to be prepared-it seems that one of the nights we went ,there were 2chefs and they just couldn't keep up with the orders..nobody took our drink order for a while either..but when the food finally got on our table..I forgot about all the pain I had to go through waiting for my beloved sushi. We go there quite often and always leave happy.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Very cool and trendy atmosphere and very friendly staff. The boyfriend and I eat here about once a month, by his choice not mine...I could eat sushi daily! The fish is very fresh and yummy! I like spicy rolls and they are always eager with suggestions especially if you sit at the sushi bar! Many of times they have also made us something special that is not on the menu. What keeps us coming back? The spicy tuna salad is fantastic! It is simple spicy tuna over lettuce greens and so yummy!! It doesn't matter what fish I will eat that day, I will have this salad. "Sake" to me...Im anxiously awaiting my next meal from here :)

Came here on a Friday night, it wasn't too busy but got busy as we were eating. We were seated in a hard wood booth but they are nice enough to put pillows in all the booths in case you need some cushion.. Cute decor and interior. The chirashi and hwe du bap is pretty big portions here. They also have a great happy hour and big projector screen tvs here.

This place is awesome - it has become our new go to Sushi restaurant. It's the first sashimi we've ordered since the place on Monument closed almost 7 years ago. Fresh, decent size portions - always leaving full and satisfied. Authentic. Can be a little more than another places but we've decided that it's worth it: less rice, super spicy tuna (love it) and really, really friendly service. If you want desert, save a buck and go to TJ's on the same plaza for Mochi.

I really don't know how to rate this place... We showed up 3 minutes before they opened and waited outside while they mopped. When we went in to eat we deside to leave. The cleaner they used was so strong strong that we walked out tasting the pinesol. :-( Nice to know it was clean but they need to dilute the cleaner. I will be willing to go back and try again.

This place is the best in the area right now. Better spot than Momoyamas. "Yes I said it, I said IT, I said it cause i caaaaaan." and it's true. See for yourself. Patrick Dempsey would go here. Happy hour is the time to go. The prices are decent. They have pillows for you to sit on. The waiters are suuuuper cute. The food is great. I reccomend a spicy, a sweet and a deep fried...

I struggled about giving 4 stars, it really should be 3.5 stars. I've been here a bunch of times, mostly because its close to my work and I come here for lunch once every 1-2 weeks in the last 2 months. The lunch specials are very good and reasonably priced. One evening my BF and I came here and had terrible service. The waitress made it like we were a nuisance by just ordering. Most of the time the service is pretty good. Although the petite and very sweet waitress at lunch time often forgets my tea or that salad comes with my lunch special. She seems so nice I don't want to scold her. So minus 1 star for the service. But the sashimi and rolls here are delicious. My favorite roll is the pink dragon roll. Happy hour is fun, the prices are great and beer is cheap after 9pm. The live music DJ is really a laptop controlled music video lineup thats Britney Spears and Beyonce mixed with Japanese pop. I am glad they opened here, although I was quite sad to lose the vietnamese place that was there before Ozora. Oh well, happy sushi!

This is a great neighborhood sushi place. Not the best sushi you will ever eat but for the area it's good. The decor is sleek and inviting and the food is fresh and tasty. The sushi is better than the regular food. The prices are as expected for sushi; bento box prices seem a little high. The service varies depending on how busy they are. It seems like they have the same number of servers no matter how many diners they have. I've had great, prompt service and also slow as molasses service.

    (4)
  • Gene H.

What happened Ozora?? Happy hour prices are up across the board, but now you are skimping on the sashimi....paper thin slices when before they were about a half inch ...Kiss of death in my books. Your saving grace is the cooked food, udon was still superior for the area. Did the ownership change? Lots of new wait staff and service is sub-par!

A friend wanted me to come and check this place out and have some sushi with her and her sister. We stopped by on a Saturday night and were seated right away. The place is actually quite large and very nice on the inside. I was actually quite impressed with the interior design. Large tables and partys this place can definetly can accomodate them. What we had: Seaweed salad - Average Edamame - Cold and salty but good Simba Roll - This was a deep friend special roll that they had on special. It was very good and glad that we tried it. Great sauce and definetly different. Give it a try. Chuck Norris Roll - I figured I look like the roll so I might as well try it. Good call and this roll was great with the crab on top and the texture was on point. Good job. Red Roll - Tried this one as well it was nice and spicy. Out of all the rolls I would have to say that the Red Roll was the best one. Things to improve on: - Dinner was quick coming out and we were finished and our plates hung out for an extra 10 minutes or so. - We asked for a cup of ice and got a cup of rice. Server seemed annoyed that we asked for the cup of ice again. I will give this place a second try for the late night menu and see if the service improves.

This Sushi here is alright. What personally stands out about this place is the atmosphere that this Restaurant/Karaoke-Bar-thing creates and the fact that it's open until very late. When it comes to quality of the fish, I personally prefer the freshness of Miraku in downtown Walnut Creek. Another reason why you should consider this place? Late night Happy Hour!

This review is solely for their happy hour. The prices and the serving sizes are decent. I had the california roll, the shrimp tempura roll, and the spider roll. Out of those three rolls, I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Although I did not partake in the sake bombs, the hubs, my bro, and my cousins seemed to enjoy them. I think it's great their happy hour begins at 9 pm. I mean, there aren't too many places in the East Bay where you can get decent sushi at that hour.

Love that this place is open late!! For girls night this past week we had sushi again. I've been here before for their happy hour on the weekend when they open a bit later, but I kind of enjoyed the weeknight feel a little more. On the weekends it gets busy and they play the music a little too loud to have any decent conversation. However, when we came in on Wednesday for their happy hour, there were only 1 guy at the sushi bar and one couple at a table. Later on, more groups came in but unfortunately they close at 10:30pm. The food is good, very tasty. We ordered the jumping spicy tuna, rainbow roll, lion king, and a couple more. They were all tasty, and a good size. Their food is a little pricier than other places, and they don't have amazing deals at happy hour like other places. The price for their sake and beers are great though if that's what you're planning for. We ordered 2 desserts, the tempura ice cream and the coco banana (fried banana and ice cream). Both were good, but I didn't like the berry flavored syrup used to decorate the plate of the tempura ice cream and moved it off onto another plate after the first bite. Service left something to be desired. Maybe it's just because it's slow on a Wednesday night and they only have 1 hostess/server and 1 regular server. I had to ask for the small plates more than twice after they brought out our food. Bottom line, I really like this place and know I'll be coming back again when I'm in the area. The ambiance is definitely cooler than other sushi places in the area and it attracts a younger type of crowd, but the low price alcohol during happy hour may also help with that. Food was good too and came out to around $20 per person.

I wasn't too impressed with this place. My tobico tasted as though it was stale and the flavors of the rolls didn't impress me. I ordered the chuck Norris roll and and orange head roll which were basically the same thing but one was twice as much in cost. Another thing I noticed was that they don't even roll their rice it's smashed in to those little square things (at least thats what my to go rolls looked like). If I never ate here again it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Overall good variety and fresh, well chosen fish. Lunch can be quick as the service is prompt and reliable. Bento boxes are an easy choice for work lunches or kids. A picky co-worker commented it was some of the best teriyaki chicken he ever had. The miso soup and salad are above standard. Their rolls provide good choices and are creative with crisp veggies, fresh fish, generous sizes and ample sauces. The maguru and mackerel are always fresh. Some times the salmon is a bit dry, and other times it's just right. You can ask the chefs to customize rolls. The decor is clean and gives an open feeling. Pricing is slightly high, but not too unreasonable. I did experience a high bill when getting takeout for my office, but similar restaurants near by are almost as much and not as good.

Pros: A decent amount of food. Okay taste. Cons: Slow service. Odd dipping sauce for tempura. I came here on a Friday afternoon for a birthday lunch. The place was not full to capacity and we were seated quickly. However, it was some time before our order was taken and then the food arrived. It took an unusually long time, around 30-35 minutes. We ordered a cold noodle salad and 2 identical lunch specials (grilled salmon/teriyaki chicken). There were only 2 servers - one was also the hostess. I noticed other diners who came in after us waiting as well. One guy had leaned back into the booth and closed his eyes!! I would have left at that point. The food was adequate, though nothing memorable. Average prices. Probably won't be back anytime soon.

I wanted to give this place four stars. I mean I was really not expecting much from a sushi place in the plaza that holds all kinds of poor restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised here. The Saba Shioyaki was great. The rolls were pretty good. Most things they serve on were of non-plastic construction, kind of a "thing" with me. The salad was good. I almost went with four stars, then why am I giving it three? Service took a long time, the cute wooden benches are hard to get into, and they switched the Aerosmith to sedating Japanese music (we got there right as they opened). Still much better than most other sushi places in the area, I am adding it to my faves in the area for sure.

My go to spot for sushi in the area. The ingredients they use are fresh. Service is friendly and typically very efficient (been seated, served and finished within 30 minutes sometimes - maybe I should eat slower). They have a nice variety of rolls to try. My favorites are the Chuck Norris, Double Double and Power Spider. They also offer a late happy hour. Go support your local business!

Can you say craaaaaaaccckiiiiiinnnnnnnnn? This place has one of the BEST happy hours! Yummy sushi, discounted sake, and a DJ!!! Who would have thought that some place @ the end of a strip mall would have a DJ gettin it crackin playin all the Jamz!!! I swear last time i was there the DJ played bone thugs! hahahha!!! So the food is great! My love for spicy tuna will never end! The Spicy Crunch Tuna roll is delicious & the spicy tuna @ Ozora is the best I've had in the concord/walnut creek area. One thing I didn't like about this restaurant is the way they make large parties pay for their food. Instead of splitting tables in half, they put EVERYTHING in 1 large bill & everyone has to go up to the cashier individually to pay for exactly what they ordered. In a sense, I feel like this makes things more complicated and in the end the check can fall short. For example, we came here for my friend's bday (with about 20 people)... Everyone went up to pay for their share, but in the end we were short about $70. If they just split the tables in half they may have prevented this because then everyone would have been on the same page w/ what they ordered + gratuity. This Restaurant needs to get it together when it comes to bill paying!!!

My friend and I ate here for lunch and the service was terrible. There were only three other tables plus ours that was occupied and two waitresses. We ordered four simple things ( a lunch bento, spider roll, philly roll, and a spicy tuna salad ) and we waited for about 15 minutes til our food started to arrive but the spicy tuna salad never came. I waited to see if it would arrive but it did not come. I tried flagging the waitress but she was in her own world, I was finally able to flag the other waitress and asked if my salad was coming, the two waitresses looked at each other speaking in Japanese I guess, asked the two sushi makers, and came back saying " I think they forgot to make it ". Come on now!!!! A simple tiny salad and the place was not even busy, there was no excuse. The waitress asked me if I still wanted the salad, and I said "no just cancel it". It was already half an hour into our meal. Now we were finishing up and we asked for the bill, if I didn't check the bill we would have paid for the salad that never came. I flagged down the waitress again ( which is hard to do at this place ) and told her that they billed us for the salad and she looked at me and did not look surprised that we were billed. She took the bill and gave us back the difference. There was no apologies once so ever. The owner of this place needs to rethink the meaning of customer service and get better, more attentive staff.

Was in the mood for sushi, but it was already 9:30pm on a Friday... I remembered that Ozora was reportedly open late, so decided to check it out. The place wasn't crowded, but that may have been due to the rain. The place was nicely decorated but the techno music was pretty loud. Ordered the Caterpillar roll, Rainbow Roll and the California Deluxe rolls. Overall a good amount of food for two and reasonably fresh at a decent price. I think that Nama Sushi's Rainbow roll is better, but even so Ozora will now help to fill late night cravings.

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch after reading good reviews on yelp. We both ordered boxes with California rolls, pot stickers and teriyaki chicken. The pot stickers were very good and the California rolls were average. The chicken had a funky taste, kinda gamey and not fresh. We were both kinda grossed out by it. The restaurant itself is attractive and the service was good. Maybe we should have ordered sushi rolls instead, I just get a little sketched out if their chicken is funky.

Called in my order since my coworkers experience last time was slow service...just picking up & paying for my order was almost 10 min, and I called it in 20 min prior. I had the Chuck Norris roll and vegetable tempura. I would've given more stars, but I think it's pretty pricey for those two items. C'mon now, I paid $24+ for one roll and 7 pieces of veggie tempura!! Unfortunately it's the closest sushi place to my office. I'd rather go across the freeway to Nama. Rip off.

Lately I've noticed their service is extremely slow. I enjoy coming during happy hour but each time I come service is slow. I think they need to hire more workers during busy hours.

I dine here with my family when we want something local and don't want to drive further into Concord or to Pleasant Hill for our usual stand-by choices of Japanese restaurants. The restaurant is located in a shopping center so it is easy to find parking. The restaurant itself is decorated very nicely and has a lounge-y feel, which makes sense since they have DJ music/late happy hour in the evenings (I have not been during those times). I usually order the bento box with salmon teriyaki, tempura and sushi or sashimi - the food is decent, but nothing out-of-the-ordinary special. This last time I ordered the rock n roll and spider roll. Both were good, but a bit heavy on sauce; next time I'd request the drizzled sauce on the side or none at all. We ordered green tea ice cream for dessert and it comes with two scoops and whipped cream! Yum. Pricing is a bit more expensive than the other Japanese restaurants close by that we like (the dessert was a steal though since you got two scoops), but I guess it is the nicer, more "fancy" ambience that you are paying for. Would come here again to try out happy hour, I'm sure pricing is probably more up to par then!

My friend and I usually hit up Sushi Momoyama on Monument Blvd., but we went tonight and they were closed! boo! We still wanted our sushi fix, so we decided to try Ozora and we were not impressed.... First off, I am not a hippo or anything, but the portions are small for what you pay for. Also, I ordered a spicy roll expecting a lil kick in my sushi and it was just plain fishy with no spice =( I did like the service and the decor of the restaurant, but c'mon.... I am here to eat! Unfortunately, I will not be coming back.

Been eating here for the last 3 years. Excellent, fresh, sea food. Always clean. Hostess Esther, and her husband and brother (both sushi chef) take great pride in the presentation and quality of their product. Had a party for 50 people on a Friday night for a friend recently diagnosed with cancer. Went off without a hitch and was reasonably priced. I usually get the Maguro Sashimi Dinner, with Angel MaMa roll and Osaka roll. Delish!!!! Only negative, closed on Sundays...

Why must you disappoint Ozora? I come at least once a week if not every other week and I find myself getting dissapointed more and more. I was willing to take the slow service because I am so loyal to this restaurant but seriously? Forget part of my order, visit my table once during the hour to refill water, give us the wrong tab, and still charge us for a sushi roll that we never recieved? tsk. tsk. If you want to keep the regulars keep your service consistent. And keep up the good work on the tasteful sushi!

ozora gets a lot of love from the local press (shills, i thought) and some tuff love from some yelpers. the ambience is classic mysterious darkness (shades of gotham city) with low key lighting and "ozora" written on 2 walls, hand drawn water lilies? are on the far wall. menu: lunch special: bento boxes , 3 items(12.95) udon special (9.95) lots of sushi rows, happy hour 9-12 evenings, specials on sake and rolls. nigiri , 4.95ish. music: piano instrumental flatscreen: tuned to sports per reviews, off during my prescene. sampling: -chirashi, lunch special,(12.95) *25 minibites of fresh raw fish from the sushi bar (1 ebi, 2 tamayo, 3 hamachi, 4 butterfish, 3 maguro, 3 sake, 3 white tuna, 3 sea bass w/ sprinking of tobiko, and 3 white tuna -salad w/spring mix (NOT LETTUCE) and a tasty sweet thousand island like dressing. very fresh and different. -Miso soup, with tofu and seaweed bits, pretty good. dessert: korean gum ala korean eateries. temaki: -good service from lone server, tea refilled many times, dishes bussed. -sushiman made light conversation, inquiring about service, food. said hello and thank you upon my departure. -best food/service experienced in a korean run japanese eatery. -happy hour 9-12 evenings... -food quality superior to most. sashimi pretty fresh, a good value!

My first time to this sushi place was with my girlfriend and was during the happy hour they have. We were originally thinking of going to the OTHER guy, "Damo Sushi" but wanted to try something new (because that's fun) and knew that this place is open late till maybe till around 12:00am on the weekend days.. It has a private lot for parking and when we first got there around 10:00pm it looked packed. It wasn't though, it was just those other cars were at Wells Fargo or something.. It's really trendy inside here! I loved those seats they have on the sides next to the windows - it's like a connected bench (I'm sorry I don't know what to call this..) in the shape of sqaure with.. pillows! I haven't ever seen a sushi place around these areas with that kind of seating arrangement (or whatever it's supposed to be called..) Then, there's loud music from a DJ, a TV, and a bar! And at that bar there's like 3 sushi chefs, or so it looked. The service was friendly, maybe not as attentive as I was expecting but what do you expect on a weekend night in place like this.. The rolls for the happy hour were CHEAP for special rolls! Lion King/Dragon roll were under 8.00 if I remember right. They are a little small though. I think those rolls were made with half a sheet of nori.. so they were those size kind of rolls where you find at Buffet City or China Wall or something. I thought this was fair for the price though I guess but I felt scammed or something! The quality of the rolls were great but yeah, nothing to really talk about here.. What I really like about this place is that they have an EXTENSIVE menu. Appetizers, basic rolls, special rolls, and.. good combo sushi/sashimi options! I noticed not too many sushi places in the area have that "family sushi/sashimi dinner" or "love boat" option. At least that's for people who are really into it you know.. haha No all-you-can-eat option here. Maybe one day.. (or maybe they did?) I enjoyed the ambiance, experience and things here, but the reason I give 3 stars is because I feel it doesn't deserve the 4 stars since that's pretty high.. maybe because of the size of the rolls that I've had during the happy hour.. I would still do a 50/50 for Damo Sushi and this one for an after 9:00pm "sushi outing". For a group of friends, this is obviously a lot more fun though. Hip sushi place overall!

SUSHI...SAKE...SPORTS! How can you go wrong! Craving for a late night sushi dinner? From 9pm -12pm(weekends) this sushi joint has HAPPY HOUR! The only sushi place I know of thats open this late. A perfect place to pre-game before a club. Dont let the location fool you. The surrounding neighborhood is a bit off putting but the inside decor is modern with tons of seats at the bar, tables in the middle and comfortable seating at the booths. They even have a HUGE projection which is always on SPORTSCENTER! Nice! On sat they have a live DJ. During weekdays their music can range from hip hop to lounge music. My Favorite sushi rolls: Jumping Spicy Tuna ( ask the sever to make it extra hot with jalepenos! via Bill whose is one of the sushi chefs recommends) Its a great spicy roll with some added crunch! Volcano roll- baked cali roll with spicy scallops and sauce that seriously melts in your mouth. Ive tried some of their other rolls but these two tops the list! Ahi poki- its a salad thats refreshing with seaweed salad and fresh tuna on abed of greens Drinks are at a good price to. For a large sake bomb (hot sake and beer) is only $4. For the avg bottle of the sweet unflitered sake is $5 too. The large beer is $4! As for the staff some check up on you all the time while others you hardly see at your table! GOOD LUCK with them. If you sit at the bar Bill and Sung two of the sushi chefs are very funny! They like to make fun of the drunken people doing sake bombs! A great place to check out if you are in the area!

Quality: 4 stars Price: 3 stars Been here about 7 times so far: The best part of this place is the happy hour. Definitely worth it. The rolls are delicious, and prices are FAR more reasonable - ie: $4 sake, $4 spicy tuna roll, $8 dragon roll. The rolls in general a kinda small in my opinion, and overpriced if you go during regular hours; but as I said the quality of the food is still great, just not worth it. The interior has always been very relaxing to me. Large space, very open, and the pillowed booths are surprisingly comfy. During the week there's only a couple servers working so it can be hard to catch their attention; and it seems they always forget something we order, but hasn't been a big deal for me yet. Service is friendly and normally pretty quick, but if it's crowded it can take even longer than expected to get your food; this is probably my most frequent complaint. Projector on the back wall usually showing sports/ESPN (as far as I've seen). I think it'd be cool if they put some anime up there sometimes. On Fri & Sat they are open till midnight and they have a DJ that plays during the happy hr...as other reviews say it's a bit loud and obtrusive if you're on a date or trying to have a conversation involving more than 1 person at the table. Sometimes it's okay, he was spinning some old-school hip-hop last week which was alright, but sometimes it gets a little too 'club-y' Overall, I will continue to frequent Ozora, but only for the happy hour.

Went in for a recent Lunch, but was a bit worried when I only saw two other people in there close to Noon on a Saturday. Thankfully a few more folks trickled in later to help ease my concern and the food was good after all. Started with the Ahi Poki ($9.95,) but it was not what I expected. Normally Poki to me is cubes of raw tuna marinated in some soy and some seaweed-but the Ozora version is really a salad of mixed greens with slices of the tuna drizzled with their (Miso/Sesame?) Dressing. It was OK, but not what I expected. A bit pricey for the greens and a few strips of fish, but if you are looking for a raw fish salad this might work for you. I also ordered the Mixed Tempura Udon ($8.95.) The thick noodles and broth were standard fare, and they passed the Tempura test. Nicely fried piece of Shrimp, Kabocha (Pumpkin) slice, Onion ring, etc. Not oily, and served separately from the broth. My dining partner had the Lunch Bento Combination ($9.95 for two items, and $12.95 for three items.) Mix and match from Chicken, Beef, Salmon or Tofu Teriyaki), Pork or Chicken Tonkatsu (Fried Cutlets), Beef Short Ribs, Gyoza, Mixed Tempura, California Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Sushi (3 pcs), or Sashimi (3 pcs.) The box came with rice and Miso soup, and a small mixed green salad. Not a bad deal for the combo and all the food and fish was fresh. Good for a quite lunch, and the Sushi selection was extensive with various specialty rolls, spicy rolls, hand rolls, and Nigiri. Prices were reasonable and fish was fresh-so it's all good.

Came on a Friday night at 8:45 and this place was packed. They have a Dj and Espn on their projection tv, what a good way to make you forget about service. I was happy with the food, it just took a while to flag down a waiter to order drinks, etc. The food came out quick for how crowded the restaurant was. They have a late night happy hour menu which means sake, beer and sushi specials (the menu is a full page too). Will be back again.

I give this place 5 stars because I have nothing to complain about. We showed up, a party of 5, around 6:30 on Saturday. The dining room was nice and quiet. Our service was great, the food even greater. I am so happy/lucky that this placed turned out to be good. Our go to sushi bar (Happy Roll) was closed for remodel and the rest of my group was ready to just throw in the towel and go to our favorite Mexican restaurant. BUT I was crrrraving sushi and begged them to try out this new place..and it had 4 stars on Yelp! So it was my head if this place wasn't good. We started out with both types of edamame, they have garlic and regular. The garlic ones weren't anything to write home about, but they weren't horrible. Then we ordered rolls and nigiri (everything was amazingly fresh) and our non-fish eating friend ordered a bento box with steak teriyaki and chicken katsu (the chicken was deeeelish!) We all left stuffed and satisfied and will happily come back again. Also, this sushi restaurant is closed on Sundays, but open on Mondays.

Happy hour 9pm-12midnight review: prices are fair for its promotional purpose but the problem is, you have to dine after 9pm which is both inconvenient and bad for your health. Because of experience with "specials", I always question the quality with cheaper prices. Here goes... Sushi rolls: Dragon roll --- thinnest and smallest I've ever had, covered in western taste sauces, soy sauce sprayed across it and the plate, couldn't taste the shrimp! Could've been microwaved for how mushy this was. The eel was frozen because it wasn't soft and flaky, it was slimy and mushy. Is this a Korean sushi restaurants, not focused on the fresh fish delicate taste, but rather, the sauces and small portions. Lion King: Thinnest, smallest I've ever had of a lion king. I've had sushi in half a dozen countries, from Vancouver Canada to Kobe, Japan. Ozora's sushi is about as Japanese as Pasta is American. Topped with salmon? Where was the salmon? Sweet thousand island mayonnaise sauce all over, ugh. I haven't yet had the regular hour service so can't confirm or say that the roll sizes were miniaturized for happy hour pricing. Your mileage may vary. The saving grace is the happy hour pricing, and for that, I give them half a star instead of 1. Nearby my home. But it ranks near the bottom for quality of sushi rolls. There was a DJ here who should have been at the local nightclub instead of the restaurant, his music was a modern mash up which was great for the patrons, but the volume was turned up about 20db's too high, I couldn't understand or hear my conversation clearly without shouting in the ear. Sound familiar to a nightclub, but this is not Temple SF nightclub on Friday night in the city. I give props to Ozora for appealing to a progressive patronage with the live DJ (same concept as the Walnut Creek sushi joint that went out of business) but just tone down the volume to fit the environment. Partly due to DJs inexperience - Jedi DJs know how to cater the music and volume to the listener. I hope the restaurant improves its food quality. I can't speak for service like the other reviewers have, as I sat at the sushi bar. $20 out the door for my late night meal, was it worth it? "Meh. I've experienced better."

I came here recently after not being in for a while and it seemed to have gone downhill. The service was always a bit slow, but they were friendly. Nobody seemed happy this last time in. Also, the rice with the sushi was lower quality than before, and warm. Yech. I will go back again because they have done me right so many times, but if it is poor the next time that will be it for me.

I went here for my birthday. Their happy hour sushi doesn't really seem like a happy hour. It's still the same price as if I went to any other sushi restaurant. They have a DJ playing music on Fridays and weekends. It is a bit loud during that time. It's hard to talk to people over the music. This place is good for groups though. The food is alright. Not the best sushi place I've been to and not the worst either. Atmosphere is good. Service is ok. Price is a bit high. This place is a decent sushi restaurant.

Wow, what a disappointment! I used to like this place, but what has happened here??? Service was slow as we sat for over 10 minutes for lunch when there were hardly any other patrons. We ordered the 2-item bento lunch which included salad and SOUP and we got NO soup at all. I guess we should have asked for the soup, but did not think of it until afterwards yeah - where was the miso soup?? Overall, the service was lacking ~ did your waitstaff or even ownership change recently as I did not recognize any of the staff ? The gyoza was sub par as it was not plump (what was the filling?) and not juicy , nor crispy and it should have been served with a soy/vinegar/mustard sauce and NOT with fish sauce! Sorry to say, but will not be coming back for awhile until you improve your service (it was a lot better when you first opened)) and for leaving out the miso soup and charging us for it as part of the bento lunch - $9.95 pretty pricey! I hope owners/management take my review seriously as we have been here a number of times with friends/relatives and we do see a downward spiral as we are not wanting to come back. Last comment, your staff was quick with picking up the tab ~ please reverse the role and provide better service and food than picking up our payment so fast. Previous to this incident, our waitress forgot my chirashi. My spouse's meal arrived fast. I kept on glancing at the sushi bar hoping that it would be ready soon. I finally flagged down our waitress; by then, my spouse was already finished with his meal. This was a mid week lunch and there is no excuse for this kind of service.

Ozora has some of the best-tasting Japanese food that I've had in the outer east bay. It is more expensive than most out here, but it's worth it. I rarely take my kids here because it has a quiet atmosphere and their normal child behavior is more embarrassing than it is in other restaurants, plus they don't need the more expensive but more delicious food - they're perfectly happy at cheap places. I haven't had any problems with bad service but the service isn't super fast, either. I wouldn't go here when I'm in a rush but more when I want to enjoy my friends.

It's a nice, quick, convenient place near my office with tons of clearly marked vegetarian options and at good prices (for lunch!). Their bento boxes are just about $7-8 for a 2 item combo. That makes me :-D. Their sushi has always been fresh and neatly rolled (I hate a sloppy roll!). I'm definitely a fan!

We came here on a Monday night for happy hour that starts at 9pm. It was pretty empty here, but the place is huge and the decor inside is really nice. I got the chirachi ($13). It was okay. I was expecting more sashimi, so I definitely had better for the same, if not lower price. We also tried the TNT roll ($8). It was okay also. All I could taste was spicy spicy spicy. I dont even remember or taste what fish was in it. We also got a couple rounds of Asahi beer and some hot sake ($4 each). Overall, I feel like the prices aren't that cheap for happy hours. There are places where the rolls and chirachi cost that much as regular priced items and the quality is a bit better. I was going to give this place 2 stars, but the service was great. Our server was super friendly even though we stayed a little past closing time.

The best thing about this place the decor. Other than that This place sucks. My bf and I arrive exactly at the dinner opening hours at 5 pm. We were the second customers to enter. When we sat down, we waited 10 minutes for the waitress to ask us what drinks we wanted. It has such bad service and mediocre food took 30 minutes to give us ur orders worthless. The waitresses served the other customers that arrived after us, before even serving us. What bull crap is that? All the waitresses, who happen to be female, like looking cute, but don't do any actual servicing at all. Even the food was bad, my bf ordered a $12 roll and all got was 6 six pieces that were mediocre. Our table did not even have soy sauce. What kind if sushi place doesnt have soy sauce? The most disappointing thing for me was my order of seafood udon. I was expecting fresh ingredients. What I got was a soup with dried prawns. Who wants dried prawn? Also. There were no veggies in the soup, it was mainly broth, tons of octopus, and dried shrimp. We will never come to this place ever again! Happy Roll or Nama Sushi has WAY better service and food for your buck.

My boyfriend and I had went to this Restaurant just to see how it was because my trainer had told me this is one of her favorite places and to get the chuck norris roll. Their happy hour prices are what makes it worth coming here, I don't think I would order from the regular menu. Friday or Saturday is best, as happy hour last longer, although the DJ blasts the music pretty loud for the small-ish space. The food is pretty good, not great sushi. I had a lion king roll and tempura. The tempura was really good, not too greasy/oily. The lion king roll was ok, not the best I've had, and it was small but I just assumed it was because it was happy hour. But hey at happy hour prices and with a little bit of sake and beer it takes amazing! I came here on two occasions. Once with a very large party, to which they were very accommodating, and another with just a few friends. The large group got great service while when there with only a few friends the service was a bit slow. Make reservations if you have a large group? I don't know we called weeks in advance and they still didn't have our tables set up when we arrived. I would go here again and again for happy hour sake bombs!

Tonight I had my first sake bombing experience here. It was a good experience. I was surprised at how nice a place it was as soon as I walked in and I thought " Oh god, this is going to get expensive hella quick". It really was alright though. I got about 5 sake bombs for 8 bucks, and was a little entertained by the DJ they had playing music the whole time, even though he seemed to be the most DJ I have ever seen. The sushi looked really good, and the presentation was awesome. Unfortunately, I don't care for sushi, but I did enjoy admiring it. I probably will return to this place.

This place is the trendiest looking Japanese place anywhere in Walnut Creek/Concord. The creek has mostly tired looking places. This place is sleek and fun and it's particularly great evening lighting gives it the feeling of a Tokyo hip, hot spot. Prices are reasonable and in some cases cheap, they have happy hour sushi and drinks after 9pm Every night, why go out any earlier? My wife is Japanese, from Japan, she knows sushi, and she gives this place 5 stars too. You can't go wrong, Try the Jin's choice roll if you want to impress your date. Try the Aloha roll and the chirashi sushi. It's all good. It's located in the shoppoing center with Trader Joes at the corner fo Treat Blvd and Oak Grove, just outside the Creek's city limits. If you could make it out this way for Lunch they have some great specials too. It's open late, till Midnight on most nights. So rock on.

General: As far as sushi in the East Bay, Ozora is better than most. The wife and I frequent Ozora although there are 3 or 4 closer sushi spots. I've also taken a visitor who is a huge fish eater there who loved it. You will be pleasantly surprised how nice the inside of the restaurant is given its strip mall location. Modern yet comfortable, make sure you get a booth with pillows. A great place for a group of 6. Service: I've found they are very polite but the speed of service is a little lacking. I tend to be a quick order, eater, and big tipper when I get even average service. Average service is what they provide. The guys working the sushi bar are friendly and attentive. Price: Ozora is fair priced and has a very good selection. Drinks: Not a great place for cocktail or beer selection, although well priced. Random: 1) If you want a sushi treat try the yam yam - sweet potato/yam sushi is awesome 2) The wasabi is very fresh, love it 3) If you want to step back in time, when you leave visit the bar next door on your left. It's cash only and reminds me of a back woods bar in northern Michigan.

This was my first time going to Ozora. Their Simba roll, Big Mac roll, and Mango roll were the bomb! Out of this world. Everything was so fresh and good! We will definitely be back again and again! The place was clean, quiet, and so comfortable. The bill was 50 bucks, but it was SO worth every penny!!!

The Tiger roll (or 49er roll for the non-spicy version) is to die for. Lemon and salmon... why have I only seen this once before of all the sushi joints we've been too? It's a no brainer! The fish tasted very fresh and the ingredients for the rolls were quite simple. They didn't drown everything in a sticky sweet sauce or mayonnaise - they were very loyal to the fish itself and used elements that were complimentary. I didn't even want to dip mine in soy sauce or wasabi. The service was a tad slow to what I'm use to but that is only because they seemed to be short staffed for the number of patrons this evening. Although those that were working were kicking ass and taking names. Speaking of kicking ass, I do plan on coming back and trying their Chuck Norris role the next time I'm in the area. How can you not? All in all I was very pleased with Ozora. The only reason I knocked off a star is because I did not see on the menu quail egg shooters which is a must for me. If they end up putting it on the menu or if I find I overlooked it I will gladly add the 5th star.

This by far is my favorite sushi resturant! Here's why: Decor/Ambiance/Atmosphere: You can't tell from the outside, but the inside has some great lighting and simple modern asian decor. And the ambiance always feels good inside. I think it has to do with the lighting. Waitress/Server/Sushi Chefs: They are all awesome and super nice. My boyfriend and I love sitting at the bar b/c the sushi chefs are nice and fun to chat with. Food: I truly enjoy their food because it is FRESH and very tasty. I think Orzora beats all the sushi restaurants I've tried in SF. Freshness of the food really goes a long way. Favorite sushi rolls: The Chef, Chuck Norris, and the Sora. I also like the Bay Island, it's a little heavier compared to others because it's baked in some sort of sauce. But it's very good! Prices: Most of the prices are about the same or more compared to the other restaurants. I don't mind it though, because the food is very good. Overall: It's awesome and my bank account is suffering, but my tummy is happy.

I LOVE OZORA! My husband and I both love Japanese food but always find the cost prohibitive. Our new date night routine is to see a movie and head to Ozora for happy hour. Two kinds of rolls--$10. Tempura appetizer (4 prawns) for $5.95! Two happy, well-fed adults= $25! With tax! Lately, we've also started ordering sushi to-go so we can enjoy the food more often and not have to worry about our toddlers behavior. Yummy! The service is not great...but the food IS good. They probably need a few more servers, because it takes a little bit more effort to get their attention, but the food arrived in a timely manner.

I've been to this sushi restaurant several times for dinner. The atmosphere of the restaurant makes me a bit uncomfortable because of the red & black walls and the waitresses carrying around trays of heavy dinnerware on hardwood floor. I really wish they would change the tea cups to ones that won't burn your hand so that the tea can be consumed when it's hot, not lukewarm. The waitresses also need to pick a section of the restaurant and stick to serving that area only. All three waitresses that were there when I went asked me the same question three times, which was quite annoying. Having three waitresses attend my table didn't even improve the service because all three failed to refill my tea. But they were quick to swipe the credit card for the bill. Their sashimi seemed fresh overall and the rolls were pretty good. The hwae duk bap, however, was just mediocre. A good thing about this place is that they are open until midnight and have happy hours. But I think the quality of sushi and service are far more important than convenient hours, so I prefer Momoyama in Concord.

Suprised the hell out of me. Scenario: Boyfriend and I were having a craving for sushi before going to a bar with some friends, but it was late and the Japanese restaurants we go to were closed. Then the discovery of Ozora! I browsed yelp in an attempt to find a sushi place open late night. I then found Ozora. The reviews were encouraging, but I felt that the hours posted on yelp may have been a misprint. Willing to take the chance, we went on our journey to Ozora. Upon arrival, we realized that the hours were right. The restaurant was easy to find since it was the only place bright enough in the plaza to look open. We reached the door and realized that it was within the happy hour time! Woot Woot! So we sat down in the trendy looking restaurant and ordered from the happy hour menu. The sushi was not the best I've ever had, but it was not the worst either. It was still pretty darn tasty. The shrimp tempura put a smile to my face and so did the friendly servers. My boyfriend also liked the fact that during happy hour, beer was only two dollars and california rolls were only three. As I review this restaurant, I sit and smile at the memory of the crunch of my shrimp tempura made the way I like it. Flaky and light without being greasy. I plan on returning and tasting even more rolls! Oh Ozora, you have made a fan of me! **note to everyone** perfect place to go before going out for a night on the town (any town)!

The vegetarian sushi options are great and the interior is nicer than I expected. The acoustics make it a good spot for a private dining experience -- feels like you're alone at times even when there's a full house. Service can be extremely slow and it's relatively pricey for a sushi restaurant. But the workers are friendly and I've liked all the rolls I've tried here.

Sushi is my favorite food. This place has great food and a fun atmosphere. It is open late and almost club like inside with all of the music. The Tiger roll (Spicy salmon, avocado, salmon and lemon on top) and the Red Mano roll- which is normally on special (shrimp tempura, snow crab, mango and shrimp) are my favorite. I havent met a roll here that I didn't like!

Been here only two times. Once on a Saturday around 10:00pm and another time late Tuesday night dinner. On Saturday nights, they have a resident DJ that plays some hip hop music while you eat and have sake bombs. The Tuesday night was more chill and relaxed with easy going music (no DJ). Great vibe here. From the outside, you would never think that inside lies a trendy and swanky sushi restaurant. I was very pleasant surprised when I walked in. The food: Spicy Tuna Salad: CRAZY spicy. I mean, I LOVE spicy foods but one bite of this and I coughed from the spicy surprise attack. The salad is basically a spring greens mix with chunks of tuna in it. There's a very spicy red sauce as the dressing. This is a very addicting salad... I love the burn. Sushi Rolls: I tried a handful of rolls. Most of them were yummy, but some of them were okay. I can't remember any of them names currently. They have a happy hour after 9pm with drink specials. Service: The sushi guys are super friendly and nice. If you sit at the bar, they talk to you and make you laugh. The servers for the most part are friendly. There's one waitress with curly short hair that is very brash and uninformative when asking for tips with the menu. But hey... its an asian restaurant and I don't expect much politeness most of the time with asian moms. I would prefer if the servers knew the menu more though. We asked a few questions about menu items and got short uninformative answers. (for example: Q: What kind of salad dressing is on the Spicy Tuna Salad? Is it mayonaise based? etc. A: its spicy sauce.) hmmm... okay. Overall, this place has a great vibe and good food. I'm still a huge Happy Roll sushi and Alcohol fan, so I'm not naming this place my go-to sushi place until I've been here a few more times. Overall- a yummy place. And a huge plus that it stays open LATE!!!

My wife and I were in a hurry to see a High School play at DLS/CHS but we needed something to eat so we went to the small strip mall and almost went to Chipotle but thought we would give Ozora a try. We sat at the Sushi Bar and were served promptly. I had a Sapporo draft that was good in a chilled mug. Saba, maguro and hamachi sushi were very fresh. My wife had a shrimp tempura roll. She said it was good but only 6 pieces. The place was very attractive. I agree the prices are on the high side, but you get what you pay for. Maybe 3.5 stars would be more accurate; we will be back!

Went here for a friends birthday, we were a party of 15+, we were seated in the banquet room which was kinda small for 2 different parties but nicely decorated. We were there during happy hour which started at 9pm til close and there wasnt much rolls on the happy hour menu but alot on the regular menu. Rolls were yummy and the drinks were strong.I would come back again! Oh and dont break their glass, they charge 3 bucks! LOL

I go to a lot of sushi places, but this one was great. The sushi chefs were very friendly, servers were fast, and the customer were even friendly. I am only giving this place 4 stars, instead of 5, because I have had sushi that was of slightly better quality elsewhere, but, i'm a sushi snob and the quality in this place is still amazing. So, I will definitely be back to this place.

I never would have imagined that such an elegant and modern Japanese restaurant would be located in a Concord strip mall. Loved the simple decor, offset by the dramatic use of color (red and black). Had the grilled Tofu Teriyaki entree, which came with miso soup, salad, and rice. The presentation was wonderful with a single tempura'd asparagus stalk garnishing the tofu and some little veggie stick appetizers standing upright in a small dish. They were out of edamame, but they did provide sticks of mango chewing gum with the bill ... a nice touch! Will have to make a return trip and try some additional dishes on the menu.

This place has really great sushi, I have been here at least ten times, the fish is fresh and the other things on the menu are good too! Mon-Thurs they do a happy hour at 9pm, perfect for a late night sushi craving! Also Fri and Sat at ten, on friday there is music (dj) not sure about saturday. Friendly place, nice booths, clean etc.

I haven't been overly pleased with sushi since returning from Japan. My friends are sick of me saying that, but it's true. I always speak the truth about food matters. So I wasn't overly pleased with this sushi; it was simply A-OK. Since A-OK is the definition of a three star review, I didn't have to think very hard about how many stars to give. They would have gotten four stars if they hadn't changed the music from distorted classic rock to cheesy Japanese restaurant music. Why not enjoy sushi to the dulcet tones of America's Horse With No Name?

Projection screen TV, great to watch games except for the fact that I was enjoying the playoff games and some moron customer changed the channel to NBC to watch "To Catch a Predtaor". It's very modern chic with a zen feeling to the decor with Paper mâché lantern lights . Very spacious, they can probably fit a lot more tables if they wanted to, the largebooths have pillows on them, very comfy. It Did not feel crowded at all. We had dinner here, my wife had the chirashi and i got the hwe dup bap (korean chirashi), both had very fresh fish. Only downside was the service was lacking towards the end when they were getting busy. We sat there waiting for our check for a long time.

Strange strange strange.... cam here with my 8 year old. We used to come to this location when it was a chinese place and loved it... fast forward we came when they opened excited that there was a new place to eat. When we came to this place we were immediately put off by the loud music and several tvs. That aside the food was meh. Even the goyza which I specifically asked if it was vegi was bad and definitely tasted like some type of meat composite. Over priced, under served and put off by the bad ambiance. I will pass and hope some other restaurant moves in that I might consider frequenting.

We moved down the street from Ozora's earlier this summer. We have been there over 10 times now and truly can't get enough. I worked in a fabulous Japanese restaurant for several years and was exposed to really excellent sushi. This place is authentic, full of creativity (love the "over the rainbow roll") and has a really warm and inviting atmosphere inside. You will NOT be disappointed!!

My friends and I are all avid sushi lovers and always go to the same restaurant. On a whim, we decided to branch out and try this place instead. Bad idea! Our normal place is casual, warm and welcoming. Walking into Ozora, it looked really nice and expensive but it was super quiet. Like don't-talk-above-a-whisper quiet. Since there were only a few groups in the restaurant, we were immediately seated by a waitress who looked at us like we were about to rob them. She wasn't the only one. I'm not kidding, everyone in the restaurant gave us dirty looks. We were not in the slightest way being rude or overly loud. It seemed like we were expected to remain silent throughout the entire meal! After finally ordering (it took 3 tries to get the waitress over), it took an even longer time to get our sushi! We had only ordered 4 rolls, and it took 30 minutes for it to come to our table. May I remind you that there were only a few groups in the restaurant while we were there. When our food finally came, the rolls were tiny and lacked flavor. I was really disappointed. My friends felt the same way I did. When we got the bill, I was shocked at the price. It was so expensive! We left and vowed never to go back to that place. It was a cold and unwelcoming place, the food was lackluster, and the price didn't match the quality (or quantity for that matter) of our food. I'm sticking to my usual place down the street, this was just awful.

This place, despite the DJ pumping out the neighborhood's loudest jams a few feet from your booth, comes clutch with an affordable late-night happy-hour menu until 11:30 or midnight. The chirashi is a good deal, and the green mussels are something you won't find at every sushi spot in town. Plus, "Sportscenter" plays on a giant screen behind the DJ, because the wall-shaking hits weren't enough.

ZERO stars for this place. Waited 40 min and still no food. Finally decided to ask and they forgot to put in our order! Wow. Never again. And the sad thing is that the it was the owner that took our order!

Ozora is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights if you are craving sushi in the Concord Area. The Happy Hour which begins at 9P-Closing offers diners an array of appetizers, sushi rolls, and entrees for almost 40% off the regular price. My husband and I have brought many friends to this establishment and now they go without us! Be forewarned, as the crowd gets bigger, service may wane so exercise patience or arrive at 9P to get your orders in and then enjoy the conversation and company with your party. The food is consistently good. From the fried oyster appetizers to the AWESOME Volcano Roll (Baked Scallops on top of CA Rolls) to the SOBA dishes -- you can't lose! Not to mention a BIG ASAHI/KIRIN with a BIG SAKE for less than $10? This is a great place for a date night, a larger party, or flying solo at the sushi bar.

We moved nearby about two months ago and have already been here 3 times! They have a lot of different types of rolls, some with soy paper, that are really delicious with crazy sauces on them! Their spicy chicken teriyaki is amazing! They have a lot of the traditional Japanese food items and a lot of new, interesting stuff. I am sure we will be going there a lot now that we live nearby and have found our new fave sushi place!

Yummy sushi! Good parking (because it's inside of a shopping center), perfect for a lunch date because, for one, they're OPEN for lunch! Haha, and secondly they're right next to places like Peet's Coffee and Trader Joe's so it'd be an easy stop for a NICE, slightly fancy (great atmosphere, super calming decor) lunch while still being able to run errands after and be productive during an afternoon outing! Needless to say we did NOT run errands after our fun little lunch date :)

Ozora Sushi is conveniently located in a plaza which provides ample parking. They have a pretty extensive menu but nothing too unusual from other Japanese restaurants. My friends and I came here the other night and ordered three rolls. We ordered the spider roll, volcano roll, and another one that I can't remember the name of. Each was alright, not mind blowing delicious. Rolls were kinda pricey at around $11-13 a pop, which is average for Japanese restaurants but the rolls were so small and definitely not worth $13. Service was mediocre but our waitress was nice enough to quickly offer splitting our bill for our group of three. I think the highlight of my night was the melon mint gum they give you after paying the tab. I'd give this place another visit but this time probably only for happy hour.

love this place during HAPPY HOUR. great sushi/sake the atmosphere is very chic, complete with decorative pillows, don't know why, but I love that part =) there's a dj friday or sat night (or both) one thing i hate though, is that they're ALWAYS short-staffed!! ...but the atmosphere almost makes up for it, ALMOST...

Using my yelp app, my coworker and I came here for a relaxing lunch. We each had the bento box - I did tempura and spicy tuna roll - the sushi was delicious. Their salad was good and the serving size was great. Even thought this seems to be a hot spot for lunch the service was right on task. Their menu had some interesting rolls so I look forward to coming back to try one.

Before I go onto any more detail, if this was just a review of the food, it would get four stars. But, alas, since this is a restaurant, it's not always just about the food. So for the other components I give it a total of 2 stars. This is, by the way, my first 2 star rating for anything. Seriously...service was that bad. They were obviously short-handed on a Friday night...so short-handed, in fact, that they had the hostess and one of the sushi chefs serving food! Come on now! Basic rule of running a restaurant...have a full staff on a Friday night! Especially if you are expecting multiple large parties. Everything was ok until 2 large parties walked in at which point, all the smaller tables were ignored 50% of the time. My sister didn't even get her second roll and only ended up eating the first roll that she ordered that only had 4 pieces. I think it's safe to say she was starving. We also didn't get our edamame and one other roll. The waitress tried to give us 5 large Asahi bottles and a bottle of sake when we only ordered 2 Asahi bottles, sake, and 5 cups. Luckily she didn't open them ahead of time...what a waste of beer that would've been! What's more is that when one person in our little party tried to speak to a waitress, she snapped "What?!" to him. Geez Louise...what the heck is wrong with this place? Let me point out though...not all the staff were beotches...There were a few that were seriously busting their butts trying to keep up and were trying to smile AND were apologetic. I also remember the friendly sushi chef/make-shift waiter that served us our sashimi with a little introduction reminiscent of the Iron Chef host--- sa-SHI-mi!! Hehe...that was pretty funny. Ok...so I think I've established how poor the service was. Let me tell you about the food. It was good! They make their rolls small enough to just pop in your mouth...just how I like them. The sashimi was surprisingly the freshest I've had compared to some of the sushi restaurants I've been to in Walnut Creek and even some in SF! Plus, their happy hour deals are awesome! The Hanabi 1 roll was very, very good and was on the happy hour menu! So was the other roll I ordered but I can't remember the name. AND...they have a DJ! Not just any DJ...a really good one (at least the night we were there)! I really wish the service was at least close to the level of the food. This is so uncharacteristic of a 2 star rated restaurant but I'll give this place another shot because it is a pretty cool and swanky little spot with great food. It has some great potential if the owner would just do something about the staffing and table/waitress organization. Ozora...a message to you: HIRE MORE PEOPLE SO THE ONES YOU HAVE NOW AREN'T SO CRANKY! That is all.

Nice ambiance. Service is pretty bad. I ended up bringing my own soy sauce, utensils and napkins just to limit asking for these items. (We always seem to get the same waitress though who always wears a white shirt so I'm not sure what the others are like) Many times we've waited a long time for our food. Food is pretty good - reason why we continue going. Two or three times we almost stopped going because of the service but my husband loves his food there. We can't seem to find good service though in any of the sushi places in Walnut Creek.

We went on Friday for lunch so don't know about the happy hour. Maybe we can go back for that. The place is fairly large so there was no waiting. The service was fairly quick, we got our orders in and food came quickly after that. They do have a large selection on the menu even for lunch. We had Bento boxes and ordered Dragon and Rainbow. The sushi is a little smaller than most but they taste pretty good.

Best sushi in the Walnut Creek-Concord area. Freshest fish, fair prices, wonderful ambience, and friendly wait staff. I've given up trying other places. There's no comparison. If you live sushi come to Ozora. If you come on Friday or Saturday night during dinner time however, be prepared to wait.

Korean interpretation of Japanese food isn't bad here. They make good fusion rolls and the nigiri sushi is acceptable. The nabeyaki udon is actually very good. Many of their other dishes, however, are prepared oddly. The gyoza are prepared Korean style - just deep fried and no way as good as the more time consuming Japanese boiled then panfried version. They tend to use vegetables typically found in Korean food, but not Japanese food. The yakisoba is too sweet. The oyakodon is incorrectly prepared and so on. The service is not bad if it's not too busy. The ambiance is nice in a Korean way. There's plenty of parking.

Only go if DJ Ronald is playing, because he knows music. This place is pretty busy on a Friday/Saturday night during happy hour. Best deals on sake bombs! Large beer and large sake for $8. Gets you pretty drunk pretty fast and for pretty cheap. The food is also really cheap, sushi rolls are good. Poki salad is a big fav. If you have a huge party coming ask for the secret room in the back. It's really big and perfect for birthday and getting drunk. Love this place!

Ozora is at the top of my list when it comes to decore and ambiance. I can tell they spend a lot of time designing and creating a nice atmosphere for patrons to enjoy a good meal. Pricing is a little higher than it should be ($3.95 for an order of edamame). Portions are decent, the seafood is fresh and the staff are nice. If you read my reviews, you'd know that my coworkers always go to Momoyama because of the customer service and extra items added to the takeout order. However, Ozora has replaced them because of convenience and quality.

Best sushi I've ever had. Very American-friendly twist on Japanese. Try the crispy California rolls ($5 during happy hour), you won't be sorry! Went for happy hour on a Friday night. They had a mixed crowd of young adults and late-dining families. The music was Top 40s, no room for dancing though. The booths have comfy pillows on them, great for lounging and you can't go wrong with the sake bombs and plum wine! Very extensive happy hour menu. Mmmmm

Bring cash because they don't separate bills. I've had better in Japantown in San Jose, but it's the DJ and the venue that makes it a four. Customer service is average at best.

The sushi was good. I had the Tiger roll, the double double and the chef. All were to my expectations. I also ordered the Fusion Spaghetti which was AMAZING! such a weird thing to order at a sushi restaurant but really hit the spot. I asked them to make it spicy and it was sooo good! Definitely returning for the Fusion Spaghetti :)

Fantastic, fresh sushi! Don't let the strip mall location mislead you, this is one of the best sushi places I have been to. A few of the dishes we have ordered are: Aloha roll, redhead roll, 49ers roll, spicy tuna roll, seaweed salad and poki salad, I can't say a bad thing about any of them. Service is good, but not chatty or overly friendly. Beer and wine only.

Ozoros has good food, however their service was very bad. I had to ask 3 times for a water after sitting for 20 minutes. Finally another waiter came to ask if everything was okay and I got a drink. It took a while for the food, and I decided during my wait time that the service did not deserve a tip. When I received my bill they had charged my party of 5 a gratuity fee (which is only supposed to be added for a party of 6 or more). I left upset and will not go back to ozoras for food again.

This is a pretty decent neighborhood Japanese place, probably owned by Koreans. We've mostly eaten here during lunch, although judging by other reviews happy hour seems to be more popular. What I can say is that their lunch menu is quite good and priced reasonably. My wife often gets the sushi lunch, and she is always happy with both the quality and quantity of the fish. (She LOVES raw fish, a little too much in my opinion to make her truly discerning, but in any case she considers sushi here to be above average in local standard.) I usually get bento boxes, and I've found that they are better at fried stuff than grilled stuff. Also, their salad dressing is better than most. So this is a reliable, decent neighborhood spot that is spacious, clean, and comfortable. We end up going here whenever we can't think of something more special, and we never regret it.

What a pleasant surprise! Out for dinner last night and the place we wanted to try had a 45minute wait (no we didn't have reservations). So I search trusty Yelp and came across this gem. Friendly, welcoming staff, clean, contemporary design, extensive menu and good food. The other thing that impressed us was the presentation-it made you want to eat the food. We started with the crab cakes-delicious. Miso soup was also very good. I had a godzilla roll and a catapillar roll. Both very fresh and full of flavor. My wife had tempura breaded in panko and they were light crunchy and not the least bit greasy. Love this place...we'll be back soon!

awesome customer service, kind of pricey but not too bad, food is excellent and the staff aren't cheap with their portions of sashimi which is a big deal regarding sushi restaurants, very clean and organized restaurant! great place for a hot date, family gathering or solo eating. definitely will come back again soon!

2 of my friend's said they liked this place so we decided to go have a early dinner here. Got seated down, dim lighting with red lantern lights dangling were the first things I noticed. It had a very classy feel to it. The place is medium-sized, about 12 tables(?) as I can remember. I also noticed a projection screen playing a baseball game which is convenient for everyone to watch while eating. Our server was nice and patient and quickly got our orders written down. Good thing I was with my friend's and we were all busy catching up because we didn't realize that we still haven't received our food and it was already past 10 minutes, what really made me irritated was that the people who came after us got their food before us and I saw they ordered a lot of food which I thought wasn't fair for us because we only ordered sushi. Anyways, our food came and I ordered the spider roll and just WOW, I received 6 tiny pieces and I payed $8+ for it. Rip off. My friend ordered the orange head roll and she received 10 pieces and it was the same price as mine which I thought was b.s. These folks need to get their prices correct for their small expensive portions and the spider roll wasn't even that great, I ended up staying in my bathroom for awhile when I got back home :( Also our server forgot my friend's banana co co which she ordered in the beginning of our order but the server said she'd bring it after we all ate but when we were done, the server never brought my friends banana co co so my friend told her again and the server said "banana co co? 1? okay." , she completely forgot about it. meh~

Let me say that the food was good. Fresh, lots of flavor and the atmosphere was nice. The wasabi was so weird! I ended up putting a ton in my soy sauce because I like to feel the burn, but I could not get it hot enough. And lastly the service sucks. Our waitress was clearly pissed that she had to be at work. She threw the check on the table, no eye contact and not once did she come check up on us. Needless to say I will continue my search for a great local japanese restaraunt.

Ozora Sushi is such a fantastic place! The sushi is tasty, very well made, never tastes too fishy always tastes fresh. Even the sashimi is good and all at very affordable prices. For some reason, I always end up there when they have a DJ and sometimes, it's too loud - or I'd give it 5 stars. Besides the noise control, this is one of my favorite sushi spots!

This place is a good place right down the street from my house. I've been here a couple of times with my husband and a few times with a colleague. I've got a favorite sushi place close by, but this one is a close contender. It's pretty good!

Some of the best Japanese food I have had in a long time. We have been to most of the Japanese and sushi restaurants in the area. We are putting Ozone Sushi at the top of our list. For a real treat, you have to try the family dinner. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the service was slow, and we were ahead of the rush. They need a full time hostess who's only job is to meet and greet the customers.

Love this place! The food is always delicious. The Friday night DJ creates a fun, energetic atmosphere. Dress up, dress down-great place to eat.

This was such a cool place. Good place for a late night meal. The rolls were great and the atmosphere was great. They had a DJj. It was a fun spot. They had a late night happy hour with lower priced items and some items that were not on the regular menu.

I am a HUGE FAN of sushi and have almost tried every place in Walnut Creek. This place by far is the best in WC! Fresh fish, yummy tempura AMAZING HAPPY HOUR! Between 9-10:30 during the week and 9-12 on the weekends you can enjoy your FAV sushi rolls for half price. On Friday and Saturday night they have a live DJ with music! its really fun! My favorite rolls Spicy Tuna and Crunchy Spicy Tuna This place is a MUST!!!

As the hubby and now are new in town and had a regular sushi spot in Houston we are missing, we were pleasantly surprised to find this spot, and decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did. The hot sake wasn't the best I ever had, but it'll getchoo, getchoo buzzed. We had two different kinds of rolls: the Big Mac, and the Rock and Roll. The Big Mac was definitely our favorite of the two, although the Rock and Roll was lightly sweet, like a dessert. For an appetizer we had the mixed tempera, which had a little of everything: shrimp, sweet potato, onion, and zucchini. Yum. We didn't order dessert, but as first-time customers at the sushi bar, we were given a few scoops of ice cream covered in chocolate syrup -- a perfect end to the evening. Our server was attentive, and the sushi chef was a lot of fun, cracking jokes and making light conversation. The atmosphere was modern and calm. We came right at 5:00 so there was no one else at the restaurant when we first got there, since the dinner shift had just begun. Two other things that can tell a lot about the restaurant are the cleanliness of the bathroom, and the freshness of the coffee. I didn't have any coffee here, but the restroom was clean and stocked. The Verdict: It's too early to say this is my new favorite sushi place. After I do some comparison shopping, I'll let you know, but I can say it's a good time. Tasty too.

Good sushi and times were had here. A little on the expensive side for what you get, but the sushi is tasty. I started out having dinner and then stayed for the late happy hour. The service was ok when I was there as I didn't experience what other reviewers are saying. They were very attentive on making sure I had enough sake and beer (had too many sake bombs). It was a pretty busy night when I went too as the wait time was averaging between 15 and 30 minutes for a table.

My friend & myself discovered this place because our favorite sushi bar was closed, and now this is my new favorite sushi spot! The happy hour deals are the best you can get in the area and the ambience of the place during the evening is really romantic so it would seem awkward going to eat here with your 'just friend', but that really shouldn't matter when you're over indulging with good company!

We've been here quite a few times. My husband says their sushi is delicious, fresh and worth every penny. I've never seen my mother-in-law eat as much food as she does here! I always get a bento box which is always excellent. Service is great too.

Great Japanese place . I always get haedupbop and its simply delish. Fresh slices of sashimi on top of a bed of salad. Just perfect. Only complain is their servise is super slow. You have to get their ahead of time , especially if you have a big crowd for lunch so you can make your 1 pm meetings. I still come here despite their slow service because the food is really good.

This place is pretty solid! I mean, realistically if you're thinking of getting sushi or japanese food in general for lunch, you know it's gonna be slightly more expensive than say, Chipotle. But Ozora was pleasantly surprising. While I admit, 9.95 for some Oyaki Don is more expensive than most people want to pay, the fact that even as a to-go order they give you miso soup and a salad makes it worthwhile. As for the Oyaki don itself, it was nothing short of sublime. The chicken was well cooked, great rice, a good amount of veggies and egg, and an amazing sweet soy syrupy like sauce drizzled over the top. The portion size was excellent as well. Why just 4 stars then you ask? In short, I was hoping for a slightly more authentic version of Oyaki Don, with the egg raw as they mix it in with the rice so it tastes better.

This place is a great find. Nice customer service. Great food. I love the Chuck Norris roll too. I had high expectations as well though, because anything named Chuck Norris needs to be amazing. Their fish is very fresh and their lunch specials are reasonably priced. The decor of this place is surprisingly nice for the very ordinary center it is in. It feels very high end. I will be back when I am in the area. Check out my pics for the places food if you are curious.
