Wow very nice upgrade. I have been frequenting the previous establishment for years but this place definitely got a face lift. Food is great and service is very good.

I will not go to any other Thai place. The food is amazing and the new location is very nice. The service is very quick but the place is very busy so go on the weekdays. The prices are maybe a dollar more then other places but the portion make up for it. Everything on the menu is perfect espically with a thai tea on the side.

Their new location is beautiful! I definitely did not mind the old location but this place just went from hole in the wall Thai food to a fancy casual dine in restaurant. The prices are the same and the service is always great! I love their pad see eww and Thai ice tea. Another group favorite is the pork spare rib, pad Thai, and spicy mint leave fried rice. Tried the yellow chicken curry today, just wish they added more curry sauce because the ratio just wasn't enough. My favorite Thai restaurant in the pomona/Claremont/ontario area!

Wow, this place seriously had a face lift. I've been to the original one (in Pomona or Upland.. somewhere nearby) and the one in North Hollywood (I'm not certain it's the same exact chain). This is much cleaner! :) Plus, I don't feel like I'd get mugged in the parking lot unlike the original one. Went here for dinner on a Wednesday night and it was a lot busier than I expected since it was a weekday. Service wasn't bad and the food tasted as expected. Some of my favorite dishes here are the fish fried rice (seriously, so good!), bbq spare ribs, pad thai, and pad see ewe. Soup is good too. My family seems to enjoy the beef jerky, larb (sounds gross but isn't too bad. Comparable to a thai wrap), and trout. Boba is pre-made and served in a sealed plastic cup similar to what you would get at lollipop :( It's a sit down restaurant, I expect more.

really good food. waiters and waitresses are very on it with your water if u go after like 5 it does get pretty busy were the waits about 30 minutes to get seated if you do decide to go there try to go before 5 o'clock. pm when it comes to your food very fresh and hot been there about four times and never had a problem the place is alway busy u might wait a few extra minutes but it's worth it they also have very good Lot of spices on their table to add onto your food

We got the pad thai, pad see ew, pineapple fried rice, pork ribs, and yellow curry. The portions were good. Prices were reasonable. Service was nice and quick. Only thing I wasnt a fan of was the fact that they gave us our bill when we were no where close to completing our meal.

My mom took me here for my birthday. The restaurant is set up nicely and clean. We sat down and to my surprise the backstreet boys were playing over the speakers, i think they had the CD because the whole time BSB was playing. I asked my mom if she had asked them to play it because I used to be a big BSB fan but no she did not ask them. Any how lets get to the good stuff, the food. I ordered the spicy coconut chicken and shrimp soup (Tom Kha Kai). The soup was really good and flavorful. They brought the food out quickly and also made sure to keep feeling our sodas and water up. My mom had the chicken tataki which was also good. I also had some of the Thai tea which was good too. The prices are very reasonable. I will definitely be back.

I came here one night when I had a mad craving for Thai food and was unfortunately disappointed. I ordered the yellow curry and it just was not up to par. My friend had some kind of noodle dish, something along the lines pad see wen and really liked it. I will admit that it did taste good. The service however is pretty awful. The prices are decent but I mean the dish ware was plastic and it took a little over 30 minutes to get our food. Might go back cos my friend really liked his food but I will for sure get something different.

Not a fan, have given this place as few chances but it just keeps getting worst, and worst. Willing to drive a little further from home to find better...

Totally LUCKED out & got our FAVORITE server, Nacha 2nite :) She is the most patient person explaining each dish we ask questions about. Her smile & energy are true assets to this establishment... Khorb Khun Ka Nacha. My Roasted Duck Noodle Soup w/vermicelli noodles is DA BOMB!!! Pud see ewe w/ fried tofu ROCKED the table also. Special shout out to our host, Johnny who is the epitome if hospitality! WELL DONE!!!

Today is not a good day to eat at Sanam Luang. First, the waiter was rude and rushed us to order our food because it's a "holiday". I mean, I understand that today is a holiday and it's a busy day but i would appreciate her explaining about the situation. Instead, she didn't even apologize for rushing us. No customer service at all? Second, our orders were all wrong. I literally repeated my orders like 4 times. On top of that, instead of apologizing for the mistakes she made, the waiter made me feel bad about asking them to remake the food. So unprofessional!!! Overall, I am very disappointed for the service they provided for us today.

This is the first Thai restaurant I have ever been to (2004), and definitely my favorite so far. I have not tried all of their dishes yet, but I would not mind. The restaurant also serves various party sizes. Their menu engineering is well done, and it's easy to read and understand what to expect. The price is also great. The staff does not always smile, but very experienced and attentive. The service is speedy with tasty food. The staff is also very experienced and attentive. I have come here many times, and these are my favorite items: Garlic Pork Ribs (appetizer) Pad See Ewe (rice noodle) Yum Woon Sen (glass noodle salad) Spicy Mint Leaves Fried Rice Combination Fried Rice Pineapple Fried Rice Green Curry Tom Yun Goong (soup) Thai Iced Tea I have also had similar items in other Thai restaurants, but so far I was not able to find one with Pad See Ewe & Yum Woon Sen as good as here. Saw recently that they relocated and got their own building just a minute up the street and would like to visit soon.

Recommended by a friend so I decided to check it out. Came on a Sunday night and there was a line. It wasn't too bad if you are not hungry, the 30 mins for 2 went by pretty fast. Ordered the roast duck noodle soup and pad see ew. The noodle soup portion was smaller than I thought, not enough vegetables and the duck was ok, I have had better at other Thai restaurants. The pad see ew was good although it took a long time to arrive. Overall with one dollar sign, I'll come back again if I am ever in the area

Good food and service but not my favorite Thai place in town. Convenient and easy parking though right off the 10 fwy. Have only ordered takeout. Never dined inside. Egg rolls are fresh and really good.

  • Robert S.

Went for dinner with family. Service is good and friendly and the ambiance is new and modern. However, the food is pretty salty overall. Unsure if the location in Hollywood is part of this restaurant, but the Hollywood branch is much better.

  • Mary L.

It's my first time here and it's a great experience. The food is so delicious and the place is so pretty! The atmosphere is great. The food is flavorful and it's a good portion. The smoothies are deliciously fresh.

Love this place. Bring back the orange plates. Please. They some how made food look even better.

  • Ryan V.

When I first came here the food was amazing. Since they moved to the new location it's been all down hill. Bug in my food and drink. Good just looks unappealing as if they don't care anymore. Utensils are dirty and the staff has gotten so unfriendly that it's like they don't want to help you. I'm afraid it's going to be my last time coming here if it doesn't get back it shape. Prices are good but for what I am getting now it's so not worth it. The managers way to fix problems is to give away boba drinks. Not impressed anymore.

Being Thai myself and craving for that home cooked authenticity, I came to Sanamluang with high expectations... I have to say that my expectations (being a chef of several restaurants, sensitive taste buds and a keen eye for presentation) were met on point! When I first stepped in, I was greeted promptly and seated at a normal time (10 min). While I was waiting I couldn't help but look around at their decor and it was a great blend of modernism with Thai culture. Excellent ambience. Looking at the menu, I literally thought that this place was going to be semi-costly but I was surprised at their prices! SO AFFORDABLE! My first dish was Tom Yum Goong and it definitely came close to my grandmothers recipe. The perfect balance of tang and spice that leaves the palate lingering with aroma from the lemongrass. The presentation was overall good with a great server. The second dish was the Chicken Pad Thai. I was a little disappointed in the taste, but then again that Tom Yum Goong was a hard dish to follow up haha! However, the pad thai was delicious in its own version. Great balance I definitely recommend this place for everyone who wants to enjoy Thai food at a great place with affordable prices and a family oriented staff. 5 STARS!

Another one of my wife's favorite place to eat means an automatic 5 star review from me. Happy wife, Happily life.

  • Janice W.

Service: very nice & helpful. We had a big group of 16, and she accompanies us in two diff table in a very accommodating manner. For that this place get a 5 stars. Food: I would not come and wait 1 hour for this level of food. Compares to Banana bay in Rowland heights. The Thai food here is just okay. is not bad, is just okay. nothing impressive. Warning: a long waiting line

  • Keeth Y.

I was excited to eat here but might not be back soon. 3 star because they are fast and their service is A+.. Only been here once and kind of disappointed. Their foods are drenched with oil and that really puts my appetite down because I like low fat high carb foods which I expected from an asian resto. Anyways I ordered vegan/vegetarian dishes so idk about the other foods..

  • Mando C.

This place is duh bizz. I come here alot. Spare ribs on point. Not too crispy. The thai tea is great. Im actually finishing this review from another time i was here. Foods that good that i got suuper distracted. They know how to use enough spice. I mean i aint ever been to Thailand but its gotta be somerhing like this

  • Heath C.

Good food for a great price. This place is always super busy, so be ready to wait a while for a seat and for your food. They did a complete remodel before they moved in and created a huge, three-part dining room. They serve everything you would expect. I think the food is better than most Thai places in the area and the prices are well below average (about $7 a plate!)

    (4)
  • Sarah K.

I still remember when I first drove by the old location and noticed a huge sign in Thai... I was excited because I thought, maybe this is a Thai restaurant? and if so, it must be legit... That was 8 years ago, and I've been happy ever since. It is hard to find good, real asian food out in these parts, with authentic flavors and dishes. I spent a few months in Thailand a long time ago, and missed some home-style dishes that I could not find at Thai restaurants in the States. Like rice soup... nothing fancy, but I love it. Lo and behold, I found it here. :) Also, love my fish sauce with thai chilis in it, on EVERY table. I love the food and prices here, but I recommend coming at non-peak hours, and not in large groups. Try the pineapple slushie with boba mmmmmm

  • Kevin C.

This place has the BEST Thai food in Claremont. Plus it is cheap and open late. I highly recommend it.

    (5)
  • Terry R.

I had chicken curry and my wife had pad see yee. The food was OK but it took 45 minutes to get our food! Nat, our server, was unapologetic and not the friendliest. Not worth venturing to Baja Claremont for food, better choices in the village!

  • Gabby L.

Food and service is the same as before. Now the new restaurant is more spacious. However, it gets really crowded after 7, especially during weekends. Pad Thai and Pad See Ewe are my favorite dishes from here.

    (5)
  • Ern S.

Pretty decent food, but since they moved the catfish doesn't taste the same but I am still a regular

    (4)
  • Audrey M.

Been coming here forever. They recently changed locations and it is now bigger and nicer. The food here is amazing!

    (5)
  • Carol B.

Don't order the green curry here! It was flat and had no flavor. The worst one I ever had. Just stick with the noodles The waitress forgot about us when the restaurant was not even full.

    (2)
  • Erick G.

Got damn amazing Thai. I'm a Thaiapraneur and I'll spend $18 on a dish in Hollywood that's whatever, come here and spend $7 and it will be AMAZING! The food is so damn good, the service is friendly and on it( a lot of beautiful ladies working here) and you can't beat the prices, $8 is the average dish price. Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mow is where it's at.

    (5)
  • Pat D.

A regular here. You just have to come early or the wait is over an hour. We've tried many different Thai restaurant but always come back to this place.

  • Cherlin N.

I am one of the loyal customer for the past 25 years. They are the closest thing to Thailand for me. The waitresses are so nice to my family. The food never disappoint us and they are so consistent. I love Thai Boat noodle soup, it's exactly the way my mother used to make it. If you like seafood dishes, they have a great squid salad, combination seafood fried rice. Noodle dishes are always perfectly cooked. I will always recommend Sanamluang to my friends and family.

    (5)
  • Sharon D.

Used to go to the old location which gave a bigger portion and had better flavor now you have to order more to feed your party. Ambiance is nicer but waiting for your check takes so long.

    (3)
  • Anthony A.

My family and I really enjoyed our trip to this restaurant. Lots of vegan options and an incredibly friendly staff. One thing that really stood out was the amount of effort they put in to make sure the restaurant was sleek and modern and very accessible for people with disabilities. My sons favorite food right now is Thai so I'm sure we'll be back soon. Oh get there early, the line stacks deep.

  • Kimmy L.

This place is my fave Thai place anywhere. We have been going here my whole life. Ok good food. Pork and veggies, salted fish and fried rice(the regular and crispy), spicy catfish, beef fried rice, pad see ewe, pad Thai, papaya salad, crispy pork ribs, duck salad and the Thai iced coffee! I'm sure more are great but these are the only ones we order.

Stumbling my way across the Claremont and Pomona area, I come cross a local Thai food hub called Sanamluang Thai Cuisine. Being half thai, I can say that i uphold the standards of what is great thai food and mediocre due to my experiences of growing up eating Thai food. Going into this restaurant, I did not have high expectations nor did I want to dine there. but just walking into this beautifully built restaurant made me want to stay. So, I quickly changed my mind and the wait was about an hour and 10 minutes on a Friday evening. I thought to myself the wait is so ridiculous, I then proceeded to check the yelp app and only see how this place only has 3 and a half stars. I can already tell you that i am pretty shocked! This place is hoarded with people and i am just thinking to myself how a place rated mediocre is so packed! Anyways, an hour and 15 minute passed by and i was thinking to myself how i should of just taken take out instead because i was starving at this point. Finally, a young man calls my name and seated me. Ten minutes has passed by and i was ready to order: I asked him for his recommendations on what he thought was popular at the store. Sticky Rice and Pork(Moo Ping): This dish is amazing. The sticky rice is made well and perfect. It really melts in your mouth! The pork was not too chewy like how most places have it. I quickly devoured this dish and it reminded me back of home. I highly recommend!!!! Thai Tea (y) : Their thai tea has a pretty balance of sweetness. Drink was made well and was not too sweet nor too bland. It also goes well with all the thai food dishes so make sure to order one! Duck over rice: I am a fan of duck and i have to tell you they make pretty good duck dishes here! The duck is perfectly cooked over a hot place of rice and vegetables. Their duck broth definitely adds flavor to the dish. If you are a duck fan, i also highly recommend this dish. Needless to say, this place is a definite 4 and a half - 5 star restaurant. Their food is the closest thing you'll get to the food in Thailand. I understand that the this place is brought down due to their service but take in consideration that this place is super busy. Also the price you are getting this food is ridiculous. Super economical prices, great quality food and just an amazing feel when you are eating at this place. Outstanding Thai food. Will definitely be back!

Sanamluang is one of my favorite place to eat at. Their garlic ribs and drunken noodles are the best!!! And their prices are very reasonable

The food is excellent and cheap, my new local favorite! Also this place is really nice looking inside, very clean and modern.

  • Nick H.

I came here regularly since 1988 when they were still in old location. This new location is much nicer and easier to access from Freeway. The foods still still same great taste but they may be under staff and probably still learning on their new place. Please give them a chance and excuse them if service may take a little longer but it worth the wait for the foods!

Came here for lunch with my husband on a wednesday around 2:30pm. Was greeted right away by 3 different workers, and seated right away. Order was taken pretty quickly and food was on the table within 10-15 min. The place is very nice, spacious, and clean. We ordered pad thai, pad see ew and egg rolls. The food was delicious. My husbands only complaint was that the plates were plastic. Overall great experience, and would definitely come back and recommend to others.

  • Einn A.

food ordered: seafood soup, thai beef salad, pad see ew, sun yang eup seep, thai iced tea food: dishes ordered were good, if you order mild, it's still pretty spicy... seafood soup had at least 3 whole fresh crushed thai chili's swimming in the pot, it made the soup very spicy! beef salad had lots of crushed fresh chili's in there too, made it really spicy to eat as well. Pad see ew was nicely flavored and cooked with chinese broccoli. There was a little too much gravy sauce for the sun yang eup seep dish, a little less would have been nice. thai iced tea was tasty, helped with the fire burning in my mouth after eating all the spicy food. service: restaurant was really busy on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm and raining outside. waitresses did a great job in turning tables around and getting people in/out. misc: great interior decor. very modern and the thailand scenery pictures were well placed in the restaurant. parking lot gets a little full when they are busy, would be nice if there were more parking spaces. Claremont lodge is next door, and right next to the 10 fwy, so sometimes there are homeless people hanging out in the parking lot area asking for help.

Their food is delicious. The salty fish fried rice is a must try! The restaurant is pretty nice and the service is always great.

  • Gehiser N.

My wife and I came here for the first time, we were not disappointed. Staff was extremely friendly. Customer service was excellent. Oh and the food was Delicious! My wife got the General's Noodles and I got the beef pud see ewe. Best pud see ewe I have had. Wife already planned our next outing here.

    (5)
  • Mai N.

My favorite here is vegetarian curry. I also like their crispy fish fried rice as well. Very delicious. Service is usually good but sometimes it can take a little long to get the food.

    (4)
  • Alona M.

I am the most picky person ever and hardly eat Asian food but this was the most delicious Thai food I've ever had. I really liked their special sauce with fried chicken wings and friend chicken rice was every better. I recommend everyone to try this place.

  • John K.

Again the food is good here, but there services continues to be sloppy and slow. It seem like there not doing anything to correct this matter.

    (3)
  • Mary L.

We came in Saturday at 12:30 as a party of four. The restaurant was bustling! We ordered an appetizer which came out with my duck over rice--which was exactly that--little seasoning and just cilantro, onion and spinach to go with. My children's' Pad Thai orders arrived about ten minutes later. They rated it 3 out of 5 stars. Another ten minutes passed and my husband received his Pad Prik--with no rice. He was satisfied with his meal. The food was not amazing enough to come back and the service was disappointing. There are So many exceptional Asian cuisine restaurants in the region to ever come back to this one.

    (2)
  • Gia E.

I was impressed with the ambiance of this restaurant. After a long but productive week in a Friday evening the wait can be 20 to 30 minutes but well worth it. The Jazz music was a treat for me, the food was great and the waiters with their sincere and gorgeous smiles put a great start to my weekend. I will definitely be back.

    (5)
  • Vivek P.

Sanamluang has the highest quality Thai Food I have ever eaten! The atmosphere and buzz in the restaurant reminds you of a bustling marketplace with mouth watering aromas. Personally my favorites are the moo ping, beef salad and pud see ew. Every dish I have had has left me craving more. I'd suggest you try something new every time because there isn't anything on the menu that isn't amazing.

  • Rachel B.

This place is constantly packed so you know something right is going on here. Food is good, tastes fresh without being overly greasy. Everyone here was really nice and friendly! I would def recommend you to check it out.

    (4)
  • Dene H.

Best Thai food hands down. I used to go to the Pomona location but the decor of Claremont made this location my new spot. Food is always delicious and is also delivered in a timely manner!

    (5)
  • Alexander M.

It is what it is. The flavor was ok, I had to add chili to make it better. I didn't get sick to thats a plus.

  • Rachel L.

I have never been disappointed with a meal here. I'd recommend the pad Thai or chicken over rice. Go to meal right there. Their service is fast and the decor is clean and modern.

    (5)
  • Cheri L.

Overcooked squid in my spicy seafood soup is a major "NO-NO". I don't know about you but first impressions do really count and I was not impressed. The waitstaff was something else, they (and I mean a group of 5) were raring for us to hurry up and finish our food! Those vultures! Maybe they were calling dibs on the tip, it wasn't much anyway...

    (1)
  • Matthew A.

Discriminatory service here. My food came out looking like it was shaken by the waitress and lacked protein although in the picture on the menu the meat looked plentiful. An Asian family was seated right next to me and the service that was provided to THEM was caring, friendly, and attentive. They also were given chopsticks without asking for them while I was left with only a fork! Generalization in action! The closed minded idiot that served me is at fault. I hate hate hate that every Asian run restaurant that ive been to is either brainwashed into catering for people who have light hair and eyes of all nations. I love Asian food and culture ! these low paid food workers are imbeciles.!! HAHHAAAAHAA the thai iced coffee was good. Very nice mocha taste.

  • Rachel H.

This place has been a family favorite for years. They have a wide selection of food and I never leave disappointed. I usually order Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, yellow curry, or their fried rice. The only thing I am not fully satisfied with is their service. It usually takes them awhile to bring our orders, but besides that, I'm content with the restaurant!

    (4)
  • Karla Y.

We're checking out this place for the first time. I'll give a follow-up based on the time for sitting, food quality, and price. So far, I like the interior and decoration 3*'s. ~Food Critic. So, we got a waitress as soon as we were sitting down. Food does not take long for it to be served. This is pretty authentic and is not for the weak of stomach or weak taste buds. Food is rich in flavor, do not expect some kind of Americanized Thai food. Overall, i give it a 4*. I would have given 5*'s but there was no alcohol ='(

    (4)
  • Debbie H.

Ate at the old place and tried out the new location.. beautiful space and decor, but really, you couldn't spend a little to REPLACE the plastic orange ugly plates/cups? I am glad the menus are the same and prices didn't go up, but the plastic plates have really got to go. It grosses me out and I won't dine in there, I'll take out. Other than that, it seems to be busy and business as usual. Please update the plates, it's not that much considering what you spent on the decor, etc.

  • Sasha J.

This was the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. I know that going to the actual country ruins the food when eating it in America but this was nothing like the Thai food I've eaten in Thailand and in other parts of the country. First, the service was horrible. It took at least 15 minutes to get acknowledged after we were seated but by that time, we knew what we wanted. My husband's food came out 10 minutes before my food was down so I had to sit there and watch him eat or he would have to let his food get cold. I got Pad Thai which was very sweet and not the color it is supposed to be. My husband got a beef dish that was plain tasting and gritty meat was used. I also got a Thai Tea which was also disgusting and left a bad after taste in my mouth. The prices were the only good thing about the restaurant but that's it. I will never go back nor would I recommend it. Go somewhere else!

    (1)
  • Tammy N.

I like the pad see ew here. They're quicker to seat you than to actually serve you. Service is slow from ordering to receiving food to any other part. Other than that food is good when you're craving Thai :)

    (3)
  • Teresa J.

The manager reached out to me via Yelp msg to see why my experience was poor and to get specific details so he could "research" the problem. Thank you for that. However, when I replied back, I didn't get another response back. Interesting. Guess he didn't have an answer for the mediocre food.

This place is awesome! I love all their dishes. Highly recommend the spicy mint fried rice and spicy shrimp soup. All their noodle dishes are delish too!

  • Michele B.

The new location is very nice but the service just went down hill. We were seated right away but wait at our table for more then 20mins to hopefully have our order taken. I told 3 different waiters my family and I were ready to order, the first waitress said she was busy and the other two said they don't take orders. REALLY??? WTF??? So we got up and left. Extremely disappointing since I love their food. But the service truly sucks!!!!

Very good service with good price food! Like the environment inside of the restaurant.

  • Sean B.

My wife and I have been here twice, both times were good. The service is a little weak, but then again they were slammed both times we were in. Overall the restaurant is friendly with great food. Duck salad was a real standout. They also serve lovely jasmine tea. When this place finds its rhythm, its going to be awesome. They have an interesting menu and are a strong step above your average neighborhood thai joint. My only complaint is the dishes could use more heat and the service could be more smooth. Sanamluang is a welcome addition to the rather dismal asian dining scene in Claremont.

  • Angela L.

Since they moved to this new area... the restaurant looks so fancy and clean.. but the service is super sucks...we got there and i only order 2 dishes.. so i ordered taro delight and spicy mint leaves fried rice. Taro delight always good. So my taro delight been out for a while.. until i finished a whole plate still my fried rice never came out. So there 2 table after me they order more dishes like 3 or 4 dishes per table.. all i see was there got there later than me and their food is out just like that..and while they almost done eating. Im still waiting for my fried rice. Yeah thats sucks. Ive told the server they went to check and after like almost 25 minutes my fried rice finally came out. And the fried rice looking like wet and oily... and there is none mint leaves at all like usually...and the taste was too sweet...so dissapointed....

I love trying new thai food restaurants and my family and I went this past weekend for an outing. Upon entering the building my nostrils were attacked by so many tasty aromas. I looked around and the place was fairly packed-which can only mean that the place is pretty popular. That being said we did not wait very long and were promptly seated. Our server was a cute, younger guy probably in his early 20s. The service was phenomenal as he checked in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. When we received our food I was taken aback by the rich flavors and tender meat. Needless to say the food was divine. I strongly recommend trying the beef salad. Possibly one of my favorite dishes. The secret dressing is addicting. Great overall experience, I will definitely return again!

Was a regular at the old location and couldn't get enough of the food. The new location looks amazing with the stunning decor and the food is better than ever! Chicken pad Thai and the chicken skewers all day! Regularly order catering from them as the pricing is more than fair and the food is delicious! Delicious food, a great environment and most importantly a friendly staff! Best Thai Food in town!

I ordered a $100 family plate of the mint Thai fried rice a week ago. Proven that it couldn't be more tasty.... It justifies the number of folks waiting and dining. Obviously and understandably the waiting and seating would take some time however I was there for a to go order. I stood at the counter for 18 minutes never once been approached or asked to standby or that someone would be with me soon. They avoided eye contact as they were obviously busy bees. working in the corporate world as well as owning two side businesses I understand how important customer satisfaction is. No issue that your too busy to address the order immediately, however unacceptable that you can't have a greeter or another simply say we will be with you as soon as possible. NEVER think that you are too big for the individual. As great as the food is, customer service is of equal importance. Needless to say I will no longer take my business here. Mix bowl it is. PS. My suggestion is that the owner take a crash course in customer service. If your previous weekend receipts dictate that amount of business, hire a greeter along with putting more seats in the waiting area. Annoyed that I drove 30 minutes to get there wasted 20 more while at the counter and left empty-handed!

Although the food was pretty decent & the aesthetic of the place was nice my experience was pretty bad. Each plate was served at different times with about 15 minutes between each plate; by the time all of the people in my party (3) had our plates our food was cold. Our waiter never came back after our food was served; we had to talk to a busboy to get us our check. Different waiters came at different times trying to give us different checks, it was chaotic & confusing. Also, the bathrooms were very dirty. I won't be eating here again.

The food is good but they need a systematic way to run the business to be more efficient. Long wait time while a lot of tables are empty.

The quality of the thai food here is amazing. Everything from the papaya salad, garlic short ribs, salted fish fried rice, and everything else.... It is all amazing. I always make the guilty mistake of over ordering, but there are so many good things to try. The service is fast and family like. I have not had one bad experience here. My favorite thai food in Southern California.

got take out the other day, so disappointed!!!! My first visit was amazing and everything tastes great so I was eager to have it again. But was not the same at all. The pad see ew tasted burnt and their soup was super sweet. I live too far to drive back so just gave up but wondering what when wrong?

To check in you must write on a piece of paper, name, time and for how many. I arrived at 7:35pm for a table for 2. People are standing around everywhere, not enough seating. It is now 8:03pm, a couple signed in at 7:38pm and got seated ahead of myself and others who were signed in for a table of 2. They don't call names of this list btw. They say table for two and where are you on the list. Of course nobody is seated in order of check in. Then I told the lady I'm a party of two, she said she would get back to me. Rude and ignorance is my experience so far. I'll be posting once I get seated... If I get seated.

I don't quite understand the line here... The food is just okay, a little worse than Thai Mix Bowl down the street and A LOT worse than Bua Thai in Claremont or Lucky Elephant in San Dimas. The price is low, maybe that's the reason it's crowded. But if you have to wait for 30 minute to save $2 dollars, probably not the best use of your time.

The place was very nicely decorated and new sitting areas as well, the price was affordable too, but they took way tooo long to bring the food; Which would've been okay, except it had a fast food taste & was rather bland

I am Thai, the food is really authentic. It has a chill out atmosphere, the environment is better than old location. When my food is late, waitress notified of how late food is. She gave me free Thai tee. Recommend this place for good, authethic Thai food at affordable prices

We came here, because we love thai food and wanted to try something new, this place had alot of good reviews, re: best flavor pad thai etc. Food was just ok, needs more flavor. Also as far as service it feels like they want to rush you out. Thai family in upland is still my fav. Thai restaurant.

Went for lunch on Sunday with some relatives who lived in the area and liked this place. Packed. Clean, bright, and quite fancy facility. But that's about it. Ordered salty fish fried rice (meh), fried plaintain (hard and not sweet), pad see ew (ok, sorry but we're not impressed at all), garlic pork sparerib (so dry and hard), and house special trout (nothing special at all, bland). Service was bad. Rushed to get out of there due people are still waiting. I had to get up get to-go boxes myself. When the trout came, it fell to the table (because it's crispy fried and serving plate was quite flat). The server picked it up with his hand and asked whether it's ok. Of course not. He took it back, and came back in about 3 minutes. Not sure what he did. Oh well, we took our chance, which turned out to be fine, except it had no taste, even with the sauce. Overall, bad experience.

I live around the corner. We watched them change this place from a once Marie calendar to a beautiful thai restaurant. Was told by many people that this place made very good Thai food so of course I tried it out. was seated quickly, Food was great, food was warm, servers very friendly. I would have given them a 5 rating but the service was slow and hard to get a server attention. I'll give them break on that it was very busy for being new I will go back and enjoy the food again. It's nice having a fine diner in this part of Claremont.

I'm giving them 2 stars only because I love Thai food. But ive never been here before and just from reading the reviews it sounded sooo good. So I took a chance came here last night and my mouth was watering for the food n omg!! Disappointed. .. the chicken wings were sooooo small n my pad see eww beef was super spicy I felt like I was eating chili peppers the whole time n i literally had 5 or 6 beef in it. . So I decided to just stick with my usual Thai spot near work.

Great food, atmosphere and attitude from servers.... love and recommend this place rather than the " other " thai place right down street ( MIX BOWL )in Pomona. Good prices and alot of quality. Good for us to have this new Thai place in our area. A Diamond! ;)

I have been going here for 10 years with my family. I love the new location because parking is easier. The renovation also makes the restaurant look way more welcoming. Their spicy catfish dish is to die for especially since I haven't seen this dish at other thai restaurants. I also love their papaya salad, great balance in the acidity and spiciness.

The food is absolutely amazing!! The first time i ever had thai was here. The Thai iced tea no boba is good. I love the new location they really deserved to expand. The only downside is they dont de-vain their shrimp which kind of grosses me out, but over all its an amazing place to.experience.

Drove by so decided to stop by for lunch. Got the duck curry, way too spicy for asking for "mild" but amazing flavor nonetheless. Generous on the portions and good ratio of meat to other ingredients. Didn't like that rice was separate cost from the curry and the strong spice level, but would definitely come back. Very nice interior and nice staff.

New Sanamluang is awesome!!! Bigger location, closer to the freeway, bigger parking lot. Came here like around 9pm on Saturday night & got seated within 10 mins. Parking was also a breeze (if you've been to the previous location you know the struggle). The interior of the restaurant is so pretty too (which reminds me.. Hopefully they change the orange plates soon, cuz they really don't go together with the new place's decor). Service was quicker than I expected (I tend to avoid Sanamluang on Saturday night; there were so many people & service got super slow, but this time it was actually ok). Food wise, they're okay. They're really good at certain food (that sautéed morning glory is bomb. Also, their pra salid fried rice is still the best among other Thai places) but I gotta admit there are certain foods that need to be "readjusted", for lack of better terms. I ordered beef pad kee mao that came out slightly burned so it tasted a bit bitter. and while it's spicy, it lacked the basil fragrant. I could barely find any basil leaves too. Maybe next time you should put more basil leaves, cuz the dish seriously needs them. One last thing, you guys need to clean the restroom more often. Yes, they're new and look a lot better than the last one, but when I came in last time (at 9pm) the floor was wet, crumpled paper towels all over the floor, and it was just messy in general. More scheduled cleanup is needed. 4 stars because of the sautéed morning glory, and they did major improvement in terms of service & space (both dining & parking). Took 1 star off because of the pad kee mao & restroom. Not bad, Sanamluang. Especially because I used to rate you 2 stars back then. Lol We'll be back.

Decent Thai food. I did fall into an MSG induced coma. Egg rolls were good. Basil fried rice was also a hit. It's a nice ambience for a decent Thai restaurant. My only qualm is the excessive MSG usage in the noodles. The same flavor could have been achieved with very little msg.

Stopped in here for lunch during work one day. 1. The menu is all ala cart vs mom and pop places that offer salads and lunch specials. 2. The menu is very busy to read. 3. The atmosphere is nice and upscale. 4. I had the chow mein with chicken. The portion size is good and filling. However the chicken had no flavor and it tasted boring. 5. The service was good. I will go to other places next time.

  • Jeannie D.

Been coming here for almost 10 years! The food is pretty good and the price is cheap. But ever since they moved to the new location, the service sucks. It takes forever for them to come take your order and forever to get something to drink. Unlike their old location, everything came so fast. But the decor is a lot better. So, even though there's more staff, service is slow.

My Son took me to Sanamluange Cafe for Fathers day, and had the Larb Gai (Chicken) and Chicken fried rice with the usual egg rolls. Place was very busy, and was surprised how good the service was. They seemed to be improving their serive to go along with the always very good food.

First, I didn't stay for the food. I am looking forward to it though. The problem is that the restaurant is very noisy. Ssounds carry throughout the space. Being a family friendly restaurant, we could clearly hear several kids expressing their opinions. That is, kids screaming could be heard clearly across the restaurant. Plus, the din was loud enough that we couldn't have a comfortable conversation across the table. We will go back during school hours. I'm sure the food is great because there's always a line of people.

Their rice dishes are OUT OF CONTROL DELICIOUS. But stay away from the noodles. The pad thai is decent and comes with a generous serving so I get it when I am craving it. Service is slow, but get the curry rice and you will love your life.

They moved to Claremont! Love the new restaurant, it looks fresh, nice, and clean!!! Their food is good as usual! Very Good pad thai, mint fried rice, spicy catfish, tom yum gong!! Service was a little bit slow at the beginning, nobody came by to our table for the first 20 minutes. It was lunch hour, yes I understand, but 20 mins is a little bit too long...... overall, still good experience! Polite servers, good food!

We finally had a chance to check out their new location and enjoyed our Christmas Eve lunch here. They still have great Thai food and the location is much better. My only pet peeves are that they kept the old greasy menus and flimsy orange plastic plates. Other than that, this restaurant is awesome. Service has also improved.

New location with a new modern interior design. I've been coming to Sanamluang for years, prior to their relocation. This place has good food for a decent price. I always come for their pad see ew and their fruit smoothies with boba and this place has yet to dissapoint. However on the downfall, the staff sort of just disregarded the wait list. My girl and I had cravings for Thai food but after waiting for more than half an hr, we weren't even seated and decided to leave. I gotta admit, on the side note, the new location did wonders for parking spaces unlike the old place.

I've literally been eating at Sanamluang since I was a baby (now going on 21) so maybe this review is a little biased. I LOVE the food here, they have never disappointed me or my family in the many years we have ate here. The new location is absolutely beautiful, although parking is still kind of a pain on a busy night. Being half Thai myself, I have to say this is the most authentic thai food I can find other than my moms kitchen in this area. We did have to wait a while on this last visit, but understand that it was very busy and the workers are also adjusting to having a lot more floor to cover than the original location. 5 stars Sanamluang!

Very delicious Thai Food. Sea food soup was delightfuly spicy..pad thai was awesome. Sunday evening seems to be a good time to be there, we where seated without delay. It was towards 5-6 when it started to get really busy. Staff is attentive but not intrusive.

Won't be back...watery gravy in the Rad Nah dish, not very flavorful, BBQ pork over steamed rice was soaked in some bright red sauce, a little too much, they forgot our last dish we ordered which took a long time, we should've just cancelled it, two long tables set up for a feast, I guess they have a constant spread of food out for the employees to eat on break, a little weird...when we left the door lady asked if I needed to use the restroom? LoL ....walking out back to my car the employees were burning what looked like trash in a steel bucket, very odd...did I mention we won't be back...prices are cheap which is appropriate for what you get...the square plastic orange plates they gave us were dirty along with the silverware, I had to clean it off with my napkins and water at the table.

The taste is pretty good, but I found a piece of candy wrapper balled up in the tea. It was so gross! So we kept looking and found more stuff in the tea pot. It was like a trash can :-/ we told the manager and she took the tea off the tab... -_- I dint think I'll come back again.

I have to thank my girlfriend for introducing me to this little slice of heaven on earth. I've eaten at a lot of Thai places over the years but this one is by far the best. Every dish that my girlfriend and I have ordered has been absolutely amazing. But my favorite hands down has been the pineapple fried rice. The ambiance and decor on the inside is top notch and very modern as well which just adds to the experience. Highly recommend coming here if you're a Thai food lover like myself.

The best Thai restaurant in town! The decor is absolutely beautiful and very welcoming to customers. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. The best Thai restaurant in the area hands down. Their service was excellent and was very fast. One of my favorite dishes is the Pad Thai and it is phenomenal, I would definitely recommend giving this a try at least once if you are here. The venue is beautiful and the prices are great 5/5!

Growing up in Montclair, I would always go to the original Sanamluang back in Pomona, so when I heard that they were moving up the street, I automatically assumed they were trying to impress, and I always chuckle watching newbies come in for the first time thinking it's a brand new place. That aside, while the restaurant has done some major renovation and does in fact look gorgeous, it's essentially more or less the same restaurant I grew up in. First off, get the Pad See Ew! With egg noodles!! Thats a pro tip from me ;) I was slightly disappointed by how they did not change their menu or their cutlery (They're the same exact ones) as they don't really fit in with the new "fancy" theme. Also, I didn't really like how the place lost its quiet and chill environment as the new place can get loud sometimes, and as much as I love the BSB and N'SYNC, sometimes I can't hear it over everyone talking. But ehh...it just shows they'll always be Pomona at heart ;) But onto the food... this is probably the best thai food around, and for the price and portions, you really can't go wrong here. The options are pretty varied and the quality is great. I love how the food isn't too greasy which is a curse with most cheap thai food , and they're really working hard to fix their notorious bad service which I highly respect. Kudos to you Sanamluang! Congratulations on your new place and good luck. And for you reading this, if you ever crave delicious fried rice or noodles, seek no further

1st time here at its new location! So excited Sanamluang is now closer to my home! Oh yeah! have been a regular for few years. I love the vegetarian pad see ew and seafood fried rice. It's a very friendly environment with great service. They open late everyday so it's super convenient to visit after a late workout at night. Highly recommend for anyone who likes Thai food. One of the best choice in this area. Enjoy!!!:)

Unfortunately service has been VERY slow even if there is not much crowd. 45 mins wait for 2 salted fish fried rice to go is really unacceptable. Much as I love this place, I'm disappointed and will have second thoughts of remaining a patron.

Best Thai restaurant around. Go early unless you want to wait a while. Always Packed well into the night. Everything we have tried we have liked. Downside is if you like a glass of wine with dinner you won't find it here. No alcohol served. Still worth going.

This place is amazing! Me and my friends used to go to their old location all the time but now they've got their new and improved place. They're food seriously sets the bar for thai cuisine. My girlfriend regularly craves their pad thai so we try to come as often as possible. My only complaint is that their so far from my house! Always worth the trip though.

This place is the worst place to go to on a Sunday. My family and i had lunch here today, nice place, delicious food, however the service is known to be the problem. One server(not the server assigned to our table) offered us the seasonal dessert, sweet sticky rice with mango, i ordered 2 for all of us, told her to bring it at the end of the meal. Before we finish our food, i told our server that we are ready for the dessert, she said it will be ready in 15 minutes. 20 minutes later, i called the servers attention to follow up the dessert. She said another 15 minutes. Table next to us that came later than us got theirs. We waited another 15 minutes, and none of them, not even our server BOOM was her name by the way came to tell us whats going on with our order. My sister in law and i had to stand up and wait in front. We waited another 30 minutes.STANDING. Watching the owner peel all those mangoes and servers getting their plate for their tables, its irritating! Servers passing through us, as if we were not there. I had to tell them we've been waiting for over an hour for that sticky rice. Short handed as it is, servers shouldn't be promising when to expect the order. They should follow table numbers. A single star for today, and never again i will come on a Sunday. No matter how good the food is, how nice the place was, if the service is bad, it will always be bad.

  • Lina C.

The food was pretty decent, but I was really disappointed with the service. We waited over 20 minutes just to get our check, and then not only did they forget to bring one of our friends change but they harassed us about not paying when we had the receipt right in front of us. Their utensils were not cleaned properly (the fork they brought me still had a piece of rice stuck to it), and their bathrooms are not maintained well. The design and atmosphere is nice, but I won't be eating here again solely because of the terrible service we received. Each plate was served at a different time with a large time gap in between. This place has potential, but they have a long ways to go in regards to how they treat their customers if they want to build a stable customer base.

The best thai place to eat and it pretty cheap, but one time my family went there to eat, my brother found a fly in his pork spare ribs I was surprised because it my first time seeing this. When we told the waiter he apologize and send a new one. I would review this restaurant good food, good customer service, but bad hygiene

The food was great as usual. But service was really slow. We got sitted for about 20 minutes before they got our drink order. We almost walked out. Then they even forgot to bring out some of our food! I'd give more stars if they get their service fixed.

This is an excellent Thai restaurant , I have been in so many Asian restaurant and this is a five star. And i am asian , i know how Thai food taste like....One of the indicators is, it is always full especially at peak hours ...theres always a waiting line outside. That tells you people come to where good food is.. I heard of this place from my friends at work and I have tried it the first time and up to now this is one of the best Asian food place in the inland empire believe me . The first time I came to sanamluang was 10 yrs ago , they were still at their old place , the food was good then and up to now that they have moved to their new venue the food has not changed , consistently good. I bring friends over here to eat and they loved it , that is why people kept coming back. The restaurant gets very busy... ...Excellent interior, murals , lighting , seating areas and chairs tables is upscale now , compared to their old place. My advice , come here before the peak hours , before lunch hours is good and only at this time you have to ask for their fried banana dessert that they make. Because when the fried banana runs out and 100% of the time they do run out of it by the afternoon because people buy them a lot , they don't make it anymore for the day . This is one of their best sellers that I don't think it's included on the menu , you have to ask the waiter for it. They have downtime in the afternoon around 2 pm to about 5 , but when dinner time comes then expect a wait, especially during weekends. Now most of their food are excellent but my favorites is the Tom yum seafood , it also comes with chicken or beef. The roasted duck, pampano fish, and if you like fried rice , try the fried rice with crunchy fish it is served on a kettle and they can make it spicy according to your preferrence . The noodles are good too. And their soups are excellent . Thai tea is a must try . The waiters sometimes will keep coming back and keep asking if you're ready , for me I don't find this's annoying . At least they keep asking instead of nobody checking on you. I came here for the food and the price is very reasonable. Try this place and you will definitely come back, that's why there's a crowd waiting outside all the time .. Happy eating!!!

So I ordered for pick up from here last night around 10 pm since it was down the street and I always pass by it. I ordered a seafood soup, beef and broccoli, and chicken fried rice. Took about 20-25 minutes to get my order. I got home and poured the soup inside bowls. After eating it for a few minutes I notice something very disgusting. There was a fly inside of my soup. I end up calling the place and going back to get a refund as I was promised over the phone. The lady, Thim, refunded me only for the soup purchase and told me to let her know when I come back (as if I ever would again after that) so she can give me a discount next time. The gesture was nice, but finding any insect inside of your food has got to be the worst experience for any customer can ever experience, especially if they're looking for a new Thai joint around their area. Aside from the bug, the soup was ok. It was very salty and I had to squeeze a food amount of lemon in it to balance it out. I didn't notice/taste any lemongrass inside so that may have been why it tasted so salty. Overall, I've had plenty better soups elsewhere. The beef inside the beef and broccoli and the chicken inside the chicken fried rice were pretty dry.

Great food and nice environment in the new location. Large portions at a fair price. Take out is very fast unless it's weekend lunch time. I can't speak of the authenticity but it's definitely one of the best Thai places I've been to this far out from LA. Beef pad see ewe is always delicious

Loved it! I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a year. I love thai food, well I have a friend from Indonesia and she assured me that this place was way better than green mango, thai t and boonsee thai kitchen, the spots I usually frequent for thai food. She was right. The selection at this restaurant was extensive, and Im eager to go back and try more. Sanamluang recently changed locations, I can't speak for the old location but this place was beautiful, clean and modern. I know that on the weekends the lines are crazy out the door, so we went at an off hour 3pm on Sunday and we only waited 5-10 minutes. I was pleased to see that most of the clientele were Asian which I think speaks to its authenticity. For example I am mexican, and if I enter a Mexican restaurant devoid of hispanic customers I know its gonna be bad. Anyhow, I also noticed that the cooks seemed to all be grandmas from Thailand. Awesome! And everything was fantastic. I loved the squid salad, if you go order this! So delicious, spicy and very fresh squid. It reminded me a little of a ceviche. The pad kee mao was really flavorful I requested it extra spicy, but I must say I think they held back a little. Its okay I will visit more, tip really well and assure them I want burnt nose hair. Lol. My friend Yanie had assured a real kick to the food. She loves spicy as much as I do.And I must say I admire the use of fresh chili peppers in the salad. We also shared a pot of tea, and some spicy mint leaves fried rice, our total bill was 29 bucks! Whoa! That's ridiculously cheap. So the moral of the story, I have a new crush and Sanamluang Cafe, its you.

I love Thai food and eat it often. So, I'm familiar with a lot of the Thai dishes and drinks ;) I recently visited this particular Thai restaurant and was extremely disappointed in the food choices and most of all the customer service was HORRIBLE! The place was very busy when my family and I went to lunch but that shouldn't decrease the amount of customer service their guest receive. The interior design of the restaurant was amazing! Absolutely beautiful but the employees need a class on time management and customer service skills because the lack of can hurt the business if you don't know how to interact/treat with your customers. The food selection was limited to me. They didn't serve Thai spare ribs nor did they have my favorite dish the stuffed chicken wing :( so I had to order just combination fried rice. My mother in law wanted to order BBQ chicken but they had ran out and it was only 2 pm ??? Then she had questions about the menu and the waitress was rushing her along because she had too many tables or was just fanatic about how busy they were it appeared to me. So for my beverage I ordered the Thai iced coffee and it was not creamy at all it tasted like pure Splenda : / so I ordered the Thai iced tea and that was much better, pretty tasty :) Over all, I had a poor experience and will not recommend this place to family or friends. I will drive the extra miles to old town Clarmemont for Thai food ;)

Sanamluang is not the best thai food restaurant but literally the best restaurant, ever. I'm not even exaggerating. My husband and I love this place so much they know our names and our order. We've had our many shares of thai food and any other thai food place has got nothing on Sanam. They catered for our wedding in December 2014 at the Diamond Bar Center. The staff and the owner (Ora) were so excited and on board to help cater our wedding. I can't rave enough about the staff. everyone's so nice there but our favorite server is Kay. She's super sweet and down to earth. We love talking and chatting with her as she helps take our orders. WE ALSO LOVE THINH (hope I spelled that right!) SHE LITERALLY MAKES US FEEL LIKE FAMILY EVERYTIME WE COME! And Jai, is also a great server and very attentive and down to earth. And I understand the stereotype of asian service in an asian restaurant, but hey, if you're nice to them... They'll be nice to you in return. I'm indonesian but I grew up here in California. So, when I think of comfort food- I think of this place.

The food is great but I am sitting here on a Monday night waiting for my takeout and looking at it half completed and getting cold. It's been an hour. I would recommend not coming here until the buzz settles. I'm really not interested in eating cold food thanks.

Love the food here! Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly. New location is glitzy...as far as Asian restaurants go. Sound system is fantastic!... So fantastic that the waiters can't hear you because you're getting drowned out by Nsync and the Spice Girls. I suggest waving the waiters down like you're hailing a taxi. Pleasurable eating experience, after you tell them to turn down the music like the old, grouchy person that you are.

First visit to this establishment and could not have been more disappointed. I do want to say that we did come with a large party (18), however the wait time to simply order was outrageous! Those seated well after our party received their food rather quickly and what was more frustrating was that the items being delivered to surrounding tables were the same dishes we ordered. We had quite a few children in our party and we asked several times if we could just get our order in shifts rather than all at once, thinking that it might be easier on the kitchen and the server. This was not the case. it was not until we started to complain and asked for them to cancel our order so that we may leave that our food MAGICALLY appeared! Food that we were able to eat was tasty, however the customer service that was experienced far outweighs anything that tastes good! From seating to eating, wait time was approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes, that's ridiculous! I will not be returning nor will I recommend this establishment to anyone.

This place is just ok. Wont go back. Although i thought the place was beautiful, the food wasnt that great. The coconut chicken soup was very salty and thai ice tea too sweet. Another dish just ok. I guess i appreciate lucky elephant more now... That being said irs way better than the thai place in the claremont village

Wow, talk about a let down. Ordered Chicken Satay, and Egg Rolls. Egg rolls Just horrible. Waste. The Chicken Satay was dry like it had been left over and reheated. The ends of the Chicken were dry and hard to pull off the sticks. The Satay Peanut sauce was the best thing I had. It was quite good. Better than Most. Go get the Satay somewhere else and get the Peanut Sauce here. But with Dry as a bone and Hard Chicken just a waste. No drink, my Satay and Egg Rolls came out to $16 plus Change without the tip. Complete waste of money. Will Never Return. I am also amazed that People like this place? They should get out more.

The reviews are too kind. We've been a long time fan of their food and usually have good (3.5 stars) success with takeout. But since they moved the quality has gone down so badly we decided not to go back.

This place is crap on top of crap went on a Thursday night took forever to be seated, when finally seated waitress took order then totally forgot we where even there!!! I will never go back there again!!! People were getting served and they came after us, and we still didn't get our food so we walked out!!! Do not recommend horrible service

I was never really into Thai food until I had Sanamluang. Every other Thai restaurant I tried was never that great to me. After trying the food here I won't go to any other place. The food here is amazing with a large variety to try from. Highly recommend the Pad Thai. The decor makes the restaurant glow and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food tastes fresh at a great price. Definitely coming back!

  • Stephen G.

Very noisy. Decor is nice, but there is nothing to absorb sound. Wonton soup was average, but the pork could not be chewed. Vegetable curry was tasteless and the toufu was hard as rubber. Other dishes were also inferior to Thai food available in other Thai restaurants that we enjoy often. Staff was cheerful, but the wait was too long for service of each course. They do provide large quantities of each dish, so we left lots of food when we exited.

I gave this restaurant 3 stars because the food is decent but the service is horrible. First you walk in to the lobby and no one acknowledges you. We stood there for a good 5 minutes waiting to be greater. Not one person greeted us. Plenty of staff made eye contact but no instructions it took me a few minutes to realize that you need to sign in and staff will only call you in once you sign in. It would be nice if they had a sign posted so you don't just stand there. The waiters are in a rush and didn't even let our party finish ordering their drinks before running off. The only time the waiter return is to drop off food. Other than that you need to flag them down for help. They delivered drinks with no straws. Once we got our food it was average. I have to say the seafood broth is very good but that's mostly what it is. All broth small portions of seafood. Shrimp salad was very spicy. Overall for the price food is OK but brace yourself for horrible service and you should be OK with the overall dining experience. I would have rated this place one star because of how bad the service is but the food was decent. I have no plans to ever return. I can get better quality food and service many other places.

Sorry Mix Bowl, this place has got you beat. The place is 20x nicer, cleaner, the service is infinitely better, and the food is just as good, if not better, and the prices are the same. There really isn't anything else to say... If you're in Claremont and you were a mix bowl fan, try this place out and you will see what I mean.

The Pad-See-Ewe (Shrimp), the noodles have a little sweetness to it, so I make it a little bit spicy and its is definitely the bomb!!! But the place is always has customers, whether its my 10 am fix or my 11 pm fix. Great Thai Restaurant!!!

I feel like I might have gone to the old location of Sanamluang a long time ago, but I can't really remember. In any case, their new location is really nice. Very large, clean and modern inside. The menu is extensive and I'm sure you'll be able to find all of your favorite Thai foods on it. I had the chicken over rice, otherwise known as Hainan chicken (is this even Thai?? Oh well), and I really enjoyed it! The rice and soup were both so flavorful, it made me want just a big bowl of rice soup. I also tried the chinese broccoli with crispy pork belly and the dry general's noodles and they were both really good. I think Sanamluang is going to be my new go to Thai place!

Beautiful Thai Restaurant, one of the best ive been to as far as athestics goes. I really enjoyed the overall feel of the whole place. super clean and crisp and decent food. I like how they have a section just for vegetarians. My parents really enjoyed the Curry dishes. They have yellow, red and green and though they can't explain whats the difference of each color. Which really puzzled me as to whats the point of the color overall it was both pretty delicious so hopefully it isn't food coloring.

Just a little disappointed with the quality control that's being sent out of the kitchen. Granted this place is beautiful & bigger but who's watching the kitchen? My Pad Thai was salty, pork ribs over fried, yellow curry mediocre, BBQ chicken was just ok. It didn't quite have the flavors of Thai BBQ of Cerritos. Please bring back the cooking style before you moved to your new location.

The food here is pretty good. It's more than I expected so I am so pleased that we decided to eat here. I ordered the Indian curry soup as my main course. The only complaint I had about it was that it needed more soup cause it's just that dank. The soup was creamy yet had such deep curry flavors. The soup comes out boiling hot. The noddles they used for this dish are thin rice noddles. Is just one of those dishes I know I'm gonna crave in a few days... To bad I'll be back in DC by the time I'm craving it again. I would say this is family friendly. There were many families eating and spending some quality time at this restaurant. Also, the service is a bit on the slower end, but I think that's understandable because they were pretty busy. So, I am not taking any stars off for their slower service. Besides they were very attendant and really made sure your food came out in a timely manner.

Rated "A" on the Window which is always good to know. Impressive that it was so crowded. It was a group of 9 of us. We were accommodated nicely as a group. I started with the Won Ton soup. The soup had plenty of ingredients but was served in a big plastic bowl and lost its heat quickly. Flavor was weak but I enhanced with Chile sauce. I ordered the Pan Eww ?? (It's rice noodle in a soy sauce with Chinese broccoli, chicken was my meat choice. The serving size was very large so lots of food served. Flavor didn't grab my taste senses but it was ok. It's a really nice restaurant in appearance and appears clean.

Went the other night with a friend of mine. Funny thing is someone from work had just recommended it to me for Pad Thai... I still prefer Srida Thai in Montclair for Pad Thai but this was really tasty too! Service was nice and it was a steady stream of people in and out. I will admit that I have a barometer on ethnic restaurants... if I don't see people of that particular ethnicity in the location eating... it tends not to be authentic or even passing ok with the likelihood of a return from me. I am happy to share Not in this case! Seating options were communal style in some portions of the restaurant with benches and some tables with hi bar stools. Parking lot is ample (I guess) it is located right off of the freeway on Indian Hill Blvd and the 10 fwy. Respectfully Reviewed

A really nicely decorated place. The staff is pretty nice. The food is a little more expensive than most Thai food. The green curry was very spicy and didn't even have the flavor of green curry. The red curry was really good. The samalanung noodle soup tasted very much like pho with big noodles. The pad Thai was average. There was nothing special about it. They asked if we wanted rice and I'm so happy they gave us a big pot of rice.

We originally had plans for a night out in the town but somehow never made it outside the door and by the time we were ready to leave, almost every restaurant was already closed. Luckily for us, Sanamluang Cafe didn't close for another hour, so we made our way down. As soon as we entered, it immediately felt like Thailand. The interior nicely decorated with artworks of the city, wall murals of the temples and manequinns dressed in Chut Thai Chakkri. There was no wait so we were seated right away. Before we could take a look at the menu, the server asked if we were ready to order but we asked him to come back. Three minutes later a second server comes to take our order and we ask her to come back. We finally get a chance to open the menu and a third server comes. Feeling a little rushed, we decided to place our order. MENU: Sanamluang Noodles- Flat rice noodle soup with pork, pork offal, ground pork, fishball, shrimp, bean sprouts and topped with fried wonton. Pad Thai- Stir fry noodles with beef, eggs, bean sprouts, peanut and green onion. Panang- Curry with shrimp, beef, potatoes, onions and carrot. The Pad Thai was good. The sauce was sweet with a hint of spice. It's always my favorite noodles dish to order when having Thai. Generous portions of shrimp and beef were in the panang. I love panang but would have preferred a little more coconut milk in the curry but I still enjoyed the dish. I was too full to even try the Sanamluang noodles but it looked good! SERVICE: Having three servers ask for our order in the first five minutes, I found a bit annoying. After we received our dishes, service was better. They just need better communication or have assigned tables. OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Most dishes are priced under $10.00. The quality of the food is good, service could improve but it's a decent place when craving some Thai food. 3 stars

I'm a bit torn about my rating having dined here for the first time. Overall we LOVED most of the dishes we ordered. Especially the Papaya Salad and Raw Shrimp Salad. But I was super thirsty for hours afterwards. My body reacts this way to MSG. That's unfortunate most Asian restaurants are still relying heavily on MSG for flavors. I guess most people will not care but honestly I prefer something a little more bland but more healthy for my body. The service was sporadically good, bad and horrible. We had 3-4 different waiters/waitresses working at our table. The waitress was just downright rude. She discouraged us from ordering more dishes because supposedly it would take 20 minutes to make Pad See Ew. We ordered it anyways only to have the dish ready less than 10 minutes. She did that to us several times. Our water never came. The guy servers were good. If you don't care about MSG or bad service, this place serves one of the best tasting Thai dishes here and OMG the spices are KICKED up. My Asian taste buds have tamed over the years because some of the dishes were super HOT. I felt like I was back home. This place gets pretty crowded. There is a small parking lot right in front while half of it is taken by Handicap parking.

Located off the 10 fwy, this place is always poppin'. The parking lot and waiting area is always packed, probably because the food is always tasty and consistent. The seating for waiting is generally small, but the hostess tends to clear it up by getting guests to tables. I usually order to go, but for this visit I decided to dine in. The hostess said it would take 25-30 minutes but ended up seating is writhing 10 minutes. Our waitress was friendly and patient. I got two orders of chicken pad see ew (my favorite!!) and once again it never disappoints. It was delicious and quick. *BTW, the portion of pad see ew for to go seems slightly more than dining in but requires at least $10 minimum purchase. They even let you call ahead!*

So this day I went with my family from South Carolina to have lunch here. They also own a very successful Thai restaurant also so they where ready to check it out. We all order the chicken satay and short ribs for the appetizer, but the ribs came out burnt, the restaurant was so kind to redo and still gave us another dish because it still wasn't good. The chicken satay was very delicious!! As far as our main dish, I ordered the chicken over rice. I really taught it was tasty and the portion was very large. It was enough for even two people. Over all, I would give the food a 4 star but the customer service is 5 star.

New location! Better and bigger restaurant! Food was still great: duck over rice and pad see ew were what I usually order. Price went up though :( Service were slow. Went on a Sunday lunch and 20 minutes was the wait for the table. Also, there were vacant tables but staff were so busy to assist waiting customers. They took our order pretty quick but getting our orders took 15 minutes and another 15 minutes for the pad see ew which completed our order. Waiting to get our check and our credit card back took another 15 minutes. The new place looks modern Thailand and more tables now.. But they just can't keep up with the crowd.

Their new location is so nice! The restaurant is bigger and the quality and prices are the same. I LOVE their spicy pad thai. It comes with chicken and shrimp and when you ask for it spicy, they don't mess around. The service is great and the staff is very friendly. Portion size is good. A very good value for the price (~$7). I always call in my order for takeout and it takes 15-20 minutes (usually less). Thai iced coffee is super delicious and sweet. Very unique taste like vietnamese coffee but has its own flavor. Very cheap! Order without boba gives you a little more coffee ;)

I really relish every opportunity I get to eat Thai food, mainly because my Thai boyfriend hates going out to eat Thai food cause his grandmas home cooking always tastes better. So every chance I get, when he asks me what I would like to eat, one of the first things that I blurt out is Thai. Then he makes a face and says, no. Then I make a face. I mean I did not even eat a lot of Thai food before I met him, so it is not like it is my favorite cuisine. I think the reason why I keep suggesting to get Thai is because I know he hates it. Yes, I am THAT girlfriend. Oh well, call it payback for dragging me to get heart burn inducing foods and ruining my gym efforts. Good thing he introduced me to Sanamluang, where we can both agree that the food here is really good. Even he says so. So I have never been to the old location and I am assuming it was not as nice as this one. Seriously though, this location is really nice. I am used to hole in the wall Thai restaurants, but this place is pretty eye pleasing. It gets pretty busy during lunch time but parking is usually pretty plentiful. It is right off the 10 freeway, you can actually see it from the 10. He got the Thai tea, which I will admit is actually really good. There are no free refills though unfortunately, but it is a good mix of tea and cream and not overly sweet. So between our two trips there, we ended up getting: Thai Salad: Do not order this. See my picture, it is their least expensive salad dish but even then it is not worth the price tag they tack on. It is literally iceberg lettuce, a few pieces of chicken, a few pieces of cucumber, sliced onions and their special peanut sauce dressing. Chapo: I really liked this, despite how plain and simple it was. All it is is, rice, veggies, fried pork belly, duck and bbq pork. The duck was so good, I just wished they gave more of it. The bbq pork I could have done without but the fried pork belly. Yum! That was really good, nice and crispy. Spaghetti Kee Mao: I really wanted something cooked with basil because I love that basily taste and so I settled on Spaghetti Kee Mao with beef, mild spicy. I loved it! I had something similar to this at Banana Bay but it tastes so much better here. I love that spicy basil taste. We finished up the spaghetti but I took the rest of the meat home and my brother put it over rice and said it was really good too. Chicken over rice: It was pretty much Hainan chicken. I would skip it. It was good, don't get me wrong but I feel in this case my boyfriends grandma made a better one. General's Noodle (dry): Order this! It is so good. It comes with duck, shirmp and one other meat, so it is a pretty good variety. You squeeze the lime and mix everything together and oh man was this good. We loved it! Larb: So funny story with Larb, the first time I ever had Larb was when it was made by my Chinese Vietnamese cousin and not going to lie. I really liked it. So I thought why not order Larb, I liked it when my cousin made it. It tasted a little different when I ordered it here. It had a more sour and spicy taste and I was not sure how I felt about it. According to my boyfriend, that is how larb is supposed to taste so....yeah.... I would definitely come back to try other stuff on their menu!

This is easily one of thee best Thai places I've ever been to. Especially with their upgrade on their location, Sanamluang is just so much better! This location is on Indian Hill, right off the 10 freeway. Decor: This place is beautifully designed. It has elegant decorations from Thailand. The lighting, tables, and seats have a very modern look. Everything here looks very clean which is always a plus when it comes to where you eat. Service: I have been here several times and the service has been great almost every time. The waiters are very attentive. Someone is constantly walking around to with water or just to deliver food so you can easily grab someone if you need to. They're all so friendly from the moment you walk into the restaurant. However, when they get busy, it is a little harder to flag them down because things seem to get really hectic. This may be just because they're still trying to get used to the new location and the new staff. Food: Every dish comes in great portions and most are under $10. It's perfect for family style! I have yet to come across a dish that I do not enjoy. -Spicy Mint Leaves Fried Rice ($8.25): This is my favorite dish! I like to eat spicy food so the medium strength is a good level for me. You will feel the heat for this. The mild seems to not be very spicy. So if you aren't into super spicy food this should still be doable. The spice level also depends on the seasons and how spicy the peppers are as well, so keep that in mind! -Som Tum ($7.25): This is delicious! Very flavorful, so I like to eat it in smaller portions. Great for sharing. It's a papaya salad with lime juice and shrimp. The bottom part gets really saucy (and a little on the sour side from the lime) so make sure you mix it all when you first get it! -Pad See Ewe ($6.95): I usually get this with chicken. But for this restaurant, I personally like their beef more. Their chicken is a little on the drier side. However, this dish is still delicious. Drinks: -Thai Tea ($2.95): Great! If you're a fan of Thai Tea, they won't disappoint. Nothing special about this drink, it's just good :) - Red Syrup with Soda ($2.50): I wanted to give this a try because it sounded interesting and I've seen a lot of people with this drink. It literally tastes like carbonated creamy/milky syrup. I am personally not a fan. This was way too sweet for my taste. I felt like I was drinking pure syrup so I wasn't a fan.

This place has changed alot since they moved their location. They used to be further down on indian hill and Ive been eating at this establishment since i was a kid. I will still say that i miss their Shrimp Cake they used to have on the menu. i think they still have it at the North Hollywood location but not here anymore. If you havent been to this location make sure youre also not in a hurry because they get super busy. what do expect when you make good food people will come. We stuck to the basics and some new dishes that were pretty good. Fried Wontons Tom Kha Chicken Bbq Chicken Seafood Basil Fried Rice Pad See Ew Shrimp Kao Moo Dang Everything came out in order and pretty fast service was great and food was cheap. Also had some leftovers to eat the next day. Solid place to grab some thai food. If youre down to try something really good get their Red or Green Thai Soda..its delicious.

Nice new venue! Sanamluang has always been a local favorite. We stopped going a number of years ago and was pleasantly surprised when they moved to a nicer, cleaner, and much roomier building. Much of the friendly staff remains the same and we were hoping the food still tasted the same. We ordered the seafood fried rice and the squid salad and couldn't wait to find out if it still tasted the same. Don't worry, it denitely did! One of the reasons this place was such a hit was it served excellent inexpensive Thai food and was open late. In addition, it's located close to the Claremont colleges and Cal Poly. That said, the food had to be good and a good value to generate such a sizable following. The old place was only a stone throw away and was located in a strip mall. It was defintiely not as nice as this new location. So, glad they moved to a nicer venue and can't wait to try other things on their menu!

Stating the obvious, the place is gorgeous. We got seated right away, but the place was filling up within an hour's time. The waitress was eager beaver. She just couldn't wait to get our orders in. We were still gawking and in awe with the decor and tile work. We felt a bit rushed placing our order in and didn't quite order what we really wanted. We ordered pad see ew shrimp and tom kha kai soup with chicken. We really wanted to peruse through the menu and order something different, but felt pressured to order right away by the eager waitress. Our meal tasted good. Wished the soup was a bit spicier, but they had plenty of spice condiments to add to it. Overall experience was very good and would definitely make it a point to come back if ever in the area.

So so good. Everything they make is amazing and AUTHENTIC. Be prepared to wait on the weekends. I'm just happy they're right around the corner from my house. I walk over whenever I like and get it to go.

This restaurant has been a family favorite. It is near and dear to my heart. It is the ultimate comfort food... Especially since they moved to this new location. I was really really sad that they left the old location because I had been going there with my family for most of my life! There was a stretch of time that we were going there every Saturday. I love the friendly service (I have never gotten bad service here... Ever!). They are quick to get you water and quick to take your order. I highly recommend the vegetarian menu and the spicy mint fried rice. Also, if you like fried plantain... They usually have some on deck. :)

My first time trying this place and I was impressed! I would def go back! We ordered appetizers to start...The chicken satay and papaya salad were delicious. The peanut sauce with the satay was really flavorful. The salad had a fishy taste but not overpowering. We were full by the time apps were finished. I ordered the chicken and green beans. The red sauce it was cooked in was spicy and garlicky and the green beans were crunchy ....I loved it. The service was a little slow but still good. Looking forward to next time!

I'm generally not a huge fan of Thai food. Tried this spot to see if maybe it was just the "Thai spots" I've tried and hoped this would help change my mind, but i wasn't really impressed. The meal I ordered had little or no flavor, was quite bland. The service is ok, majority of the servers spoke little english. The menu is also a little weird to me. I am use to reading the description of the meal and then seeing the price after. This menu has the price first and the description after. So the price under the description of entree you just read is for the item below it. They have a soup there too. It smells like feet. Its in a big silver bowl with flames. Needless to say, I'm not a fan of Thai food. I wouldn't try this spot again.

I have been going to this place for YEARS. I went to highschool nearby and foundout about the place from a few classmates. The rumor before I attended was that the food was so authentic that some of the international Thai students cried when they ate the food. It sounded a little too much for me, but thought that I would give it a whirl. The place did not disappoint. What I love the most about the place is that it is good and it is cheap. So surprising to find a really good Thai place in Pomona. The big tip is that they have a restaurant in Thai town in Hollywood, but it is just MAD cheaper here. They just moved to a swanky new location. It is very upscale and clean. I like the new digs a lot. This is a great place to go with anybody. Date or not. And a total must for any foodie to try. This is my typical pit-stop on the way to and back from Vegas.

I like this new location..easier access from the freeway and close to Montclair mall. Although it's trendier, I sometimes miss the oriental feel of the old location. Food remains great though! Never had problems with my to-go orders either. It just gets really packed especially on weekends!

Always having a good time here. Used to go to the other place. This one is decent too. 3 people for 4 types of food spent $47.69 including the 15% tip. 1. Fried rice with salted fish and dried chili 2. Fried Wonton with Sweet Sauce 3. Tom yum with shrimp and Mushroom 4. Garlic Spare Ribs

Came here with my friend, it was around 2pm and we were seated fairly quick. The best thing about this restaurant was the interior decoration. Beautiful flowers & plants inside. Personally the food was okay pretty bland in flavor... I think people are rating it as really good because theres not too many thai places around this area. ...or maybe it was what I ordered. Had heartburn all day! Anyway to say the least its not somewhere I'd go out of my way to come back to. And the waiters were very pushy! It was our first time coming here and they kept asking us if we were ready to order! Like can we look at the menu or nah! Haha

This is easily my top 3 favorite Thai restaurants. The food is solid, in addition, you also can't beat the prices here. Most of the dishes run about $7-$8 a person; I've seen Thai restaurants charge $12-$15 a plate (IE: Vegas & Los Angeles, some OC). My parents, whom are natives to Thailand, have been coming to the LA Sanamluang restaurant for about 20 years. We frequent the Claremont location every month or so. This new location is pretty nice (the original location was in the more ghetto part of Claremont just down the street). The new interior at this restaurant is nice & really spacious. There's plenty of seating. I think this used to be a Marie Calendars before. Stuff I really like Spicy beef noodle soup - $8 - my favorite soup dish. A beef based soup served w/ tendon, tripe, liver, meat balls, and garnished w/ pork grinds. This is easily the best restaurant I've which makes this soup. Indian curry Noodle Soup - $8 - The style is influenced w/ Malaysian cooking. It's a curry based soup w/ beef, green onions, and egg. Served w/ noodles. Pad Thai $8 (veggie) - The Pad Thai is really solid here. It's not over the top sweet. I highly recommend the vegetarian pad thai (fried tofu &egg) Spicy Mint Leaves Fried rice - $8 - Solid fried rice dish. Served w/ crab meat, squid, and garnished w/ a salted egg. Pad See Ew (Beef) - $8 - It's solid here, but sometimes it comes out too sweet (use too much sugar). Still a solid dish though. Spicy Catfish $8 (special dish) - I enjoy the catfish. It's deep fried and covered w/ spicy sauce on top. If you order this dish, you have to get rice to capitalize on the sauce. Stuff that's ok: Spicy Rad Na - $8 - This dish is hit or miss. You can opt not to get it. TIPS: -They charge for white rice ($5 I believe). As such, I'd suggest just getting fried rice instead of white rice, since it'll cost only $2-$3 more. -I don't really like the chicken used here. I'd recommend going w/ beef or even vegetarian instead.

This is literally my favorite Thai restaurant of all time! I've been going to this restaurant with my family for decades and with their newly opened bigger location, it's even better! The staff is always so friendly and courteous and the service is always very efficient. Even though they're very popular (especially on weekends and nights) the wait is never that long since the food comes out so quickly once you order. When I go with my family we usually order the same things because we love it so much. My favorite dish is definitely the Beef Pad See Ewe. Though it's such a basic dish, this is my favorite place to get it. Great meat to noodle ratio and good portion for the price as is true for all their dishes. Shrimp Fried Rice, Salty Fish Fried Rice, Spicy Mint Leaves Fried Rice, these are some of my most favorite fried rice dishes here. However the spicy mint leaf can be EXTREMELY spicy so sometimes I order it mild. Fried Wontons and Fried Tofu are amazinggg for appetizers. Honestly everything here is really good and I love it so much! It's great for large parties as well! 10/10 would recommend :)

I always like coming to this place even before it was relocated because the food has been decent and fairly priced. Now although it's moved to a bigger establishment, but the most annoying part came as a toll--panhandling! I'm talking about being asked for money right by the front door, in the middle of the parking lot, even while customers waiting in their cars with windows cracked open! I've already taken the opportunity to let the cute hostess know about this nuisance, but she simply said with a smile, "I'm so sorry, but we already knew that. Thanks, however, there's nothing we can do about it..." Well, I used to come here once a week to twice a month but lately I'm sorry, too, but had to reduced my patronage to less than I have to like when visitors from out of town have a craving for Thai food and Mixed Bowl down the street is too packed(even their less attractive joint doesn't have the panhandling issue). Maybe the owner isn't bothered financially to the point that he has to hire a security guard since there's always people waiting outside to get into this establishment(with a couple of panhandlers in the crowd). I for one can guarantee once the newly opened fever dies down if this issue isn't resolved the owner will regret for the consequence.

Nice modern interior motif for a Thai restaurant. The dishes are good, but seems to cater toward the younger generation. The chicken satay needs some improvement. Maybe give a mix of dark meat and not just breast which can get a bit dry. Pa ki maw which isn't on the menu but can be requested and is great! The tom yum soup had too much msg... I wouldn't mind going back and try few more curry dishes in future.

One of my favorite Thai spots. Great quality food, good service, and their new relocated spot is perfect. Wait time on the food is almost nonexistent. Whenever me and my girlfriend go here we get our usual. *Garlic Pork Spare Ribs (A Must Try) Tom Yum Goong Salted Fish Fried Rice Beef Pad See Ew w/ egg noodle or Beef Pad Thai (tofu is bomb too) *My go to at any Thai place is Spicy Beef Fried Rice w/ fried egg. (Bomb here too.) Very consistent.

The service was great: the servers and waiters were very attentive (when ordering and refilling water) and the food came out so fast! We did family style with pud see ewe, combo fried rice and tom kha kai with four people, with fried wonton appetizer. The sauce for the wontons was delicious. The fried rice was fluffy and light. I'm not the biggest fan of pud see ewe in general, so I can't comment on the quality. The soup came in a donut shaped bowl with flames coming through the center, very cool.

The food is excellent! It's definitely the best in the general area. We ordered the tom yum soup, some seafood fried rice, pad see ew, pad kee mao (drunken noodle), fried wonton appetizer, and the fried catfish With exception of the pad kee mao, everything else was goooood! Fair warning though. They do tend to make their dishes spicy. The bad? Cleanliness is in question. One of the bowl we got still had some crusty food left from the last use. The plastic dishware they use have seen much better days. Maybe we take it to go next time. The wait for a table was about half an hour but to be fair we went on mother's day.

First time here. Food: Papaya salad - I've had this at a different Thai restaurant and liked it so I decided to try it here too. Papaya was harder and crunchier because they didn't shred it as thin as the other restaurant I had it at. It was still good but I wish they would shred it thinner. REALLY spicy though. I could barely even handle the mild but I kept eating it because it was so good.. Pad See Ew - Strong flavor and a bit sweet just like how it's supposed to be. The noodles were mostly broken though which I didn't like. The other Thai restaurant like Thai Nakorn I frequent don't have this problem. Cat fish: friend got this but I didn't try it because of the spice level he got. Service: It was above average for an Asian restaurant. As long as they refill my water and bring out my food I'm fine but here, they have a guy whose job is to refill people's water. That was nice. Some servers came and asked us if everything was ok a couple of times too. Interior/design: Really modern and nice looking place so you'd think it would be clean. We got sat at the booth and our table was clean but the seats weren't... Restroom was dirty too. Paper towels in the sink and you could see dust and stains on the toilet. :-/ bleh... Imagine how the kitchen looks... Overall, food was okay but interior was dirty. Would come back to try the salty fish fried rice though.

Had a good meal here! Ordered, Pad Thai, garlic beef, and rice. Pretty solid Pad Thai, the garlic beef was ok, not my favorite, but I was really excited about the flavor of the Pad Thai. I enjoyed my meal overall and the service was good as well. Will come back.

My husband and I came for lunch on Sunday. We ordered the Pad Thai, Pud-see-ewe (beef) and the ka na mu krob (Chinese broccoli with beef). The pad Thai was good. It came with chicken and shrimp and they have a vegetarian option. I think it could have used a few more pieces of shrimp, though. The pad-see-ewe you can get beef chicken or shrimp. We got the beef and it was anther good choice. The ka na mu krob was also good but not quite what I expected. I guess the Chinese broccoli is a change from the broccoli I'm used to. It was leafy rather than being "little trees." The place was clean and nicely decorated. We were greeted and seated immediately. And the server took our order in a timely manner. My only complaint is that I had to flag down the waitress to get a refill and when she did bring the refill, she didn't put any ice and it was warm soda (yuck)!! Overall- we will be coming back to enjoy the food!

I'm not sure about this place. The first time I went, the food was pretty good. The second time, not really. In fact, my food took so long to get to my table that my friend had almost finished eating her food. It was much longer than necessary. I had wondered if they forgot my order. The waiter meekly said, "sorry, someone else ordered the same thing so we made it at the same time." Sorry, that doesn't cut it with me. And, the sauce had a burnt taste to it. When my friend ordered it the first time we went, it did not have that taste. When I choose to spend money somewhere, I expect food that isn't burnt. I also expect my food to come a REASONABLE amount of time after ordering. I will try once more. If I have the same results, that will probably be the last time I go there.

Having eaten Las Vegas Thai food for several years, I figured it was high time I try some SoCal Thai. My opportunity came tonight. I am currently staying in Claremont, CA for a weekend racing vacation and there is a Thai restaurant pumping out some awesome smells all around the neighborhood. I am with my dad and I convinced him to give Thai a try. It is was his first real taste Thai food but he is open to trying new foods. Within reason that it. We walked over to the restaurant and my dad forgot his glasses so he could not see the menu. Luckily I am familiar with Thai and I know what my dad likes. So we ordered a bowl of wonton soup and he got pad see ew with beef. I got pad see ew with chicken. That is always one of my favorites. We also ordered a pot of hot jasmine tea. Our tea came out first. I opened the pot to see how well steeped it was and was pleasently surprised to find this was loose leaf tea. I let it settle for a couple of minutes before pouring my dad and myself a cup. Let the leaves settle in the cup for another minute and sip. This was a good tea. Mello. Smooth. Refreshing. Next came the wonton soup. We were brought two empty small bowls and spoons with the big bowl of soup. There was a clear broth, plentiful chicken wontons, bok choy and char sui pork. I don't know how the make the broth but it is so packed full of flavor. Yet it is light at the same time. The wontons were good too. Not too soggy from sitting in hot broth and filled with a perfect bite sized meatball. My dad was so impressed with the soup that he finished the bowl despite saying he wanted to take it to go. Next came my pad see ew followed by his a couple of minutes later. My dad mixed in some Thai chilies in oil and some extra soy sauce. He loved it though the chilies were bordering on too hot. I ate mine as it was when delivered to the table. For me, this pad see ew, while good, was not the best I've had. It was cooked with too much soy sauce for my liking being sensitive to salt. But the chicken was tender and the broccoli was crisp. The noodles were cooked just right to where they maintained their chewiness but were also tender at the same time. Not a bad representation of the dish at all. If there are any negative comments to make here, it is an echo of some other reviews. We signed the log book to get a table for two and a party of four with only two present were taken to the table before us even though we were there first. The staff did apologize and said they did not see us sitting in the corner waiting. And it was strange that our meals came out at different times though only by two minutes max. I had only taken a couple of bites of my noodles when my dads showed up. Over all, the staff was friendly and attentive. Service was rather quick. The food was pretty good. The menu is in Thai with English subtitles. The order ticket is 100% in Thai. It all makes for a very authentic feel in a gorgeous, almost upscale restaurant with great prices. $26 for a pot of tea, a bowl of wonton soup and two orders of pad see ew is fantastic. And now I have made my dad a fan of Thai cuisine.

I LOVE Thai Food and this is still to this day my FAVORITE Thai place :) For years and years my family and friends and I have been going to Sanamluang at their former location a few blocks south in Pomona. I think my parents and I eat their food at least every other week. There were always a few things I didn't like but clearly we LOVE their food so we kept coming back! Still the same delicious authentic Thai food, large portions, perfect for sharing/family-style meals and reasonable prices!! But all of my complaints are gone along with their old location. The location itself is in a nicer part of time, the ambiance and decor is more upscale and the service seems to be more attentive. Everything is better than ever. I have probably tried everything on their menu and this review would exceed character limitations so I will just write about the favorites!! Beverage: - THAI ICED TEA ($2.95) - Perfect balance of tea to creamer ratio!! I love their Thai Tea here and love love even more than the refills are free. - FRESH FRUIT FREEZE ($3.95) - These fruit blend freezes are made with fresh fruits!! My favorite is the honeydew and second is the cantaloupe. Other honorable mentions are the watermelon and the strawberry. Appetizer: - CHICKEN SATAE ($7.95) - Thai marinated chicken served on skewers with bread, their special peanut sauce and cucumbers. The chicken here is so moist compared to other places and I love that peanut sauce!! - GARLIC PORK SPARE RIBS ($7.95) - I love garlic and I love pork. This is always a part of my order when I go with my parents. If I go with my cousins we sometimes get two orders. Highly recommended. Soup: - TOM KHA KAI ($10.50) - Rich and creamy spicy coconut soup with lemon grass, lime juice, chili, mushrooms and chicken. Amazing on a cold night!! I love mushrooms so much!! I was once with someone who hated mushrooms and I knew it was a dealbreaker. Salad: - LARB ($7.25) - My cousins always get this salad. It is sour and spicy with ground pork, chicken or beef. Entrees: - PAD THAI ($6.95 or $7.95 for shrimp upgrade) - Small rice noodle stir fried w egg, shrimp, chicken and beansprouts topped with crushed peanuts. This is a good option for anyone newly introduced to Thai food. These noodles have that balance of savory, sweet and salty. - GENERAL'S NOODLES ($7.95) - There's an emperor's noodle but I'll take the general in this case. This dish has the option of being served as a soup or a dried dish. My dad and I love it!! It comes with thin egg noodles and topped with bbq pork, roasted duck, ground pork and shrimp. I feel like you really get good variety from this dish. - SPECIAL RAHD NAH ($7.95) - This dish is $1 more than the normal rahd nah dish but I like it better cause the saucey thick flat rice noodles are served with better proteins like the chicken, bbq pork, squid, pork, shrimp and topped with a fried egg. That extra $1 is really worth it!! - PUD SEE EWE ($6.95 or $7.95 for shrimp upgrade) - Flat rice noodle scrambled with egg, soy sauce and chinese broccoli. I really love chinese broccoli and flat rice noodles so this combination is a definite win for me. - COMBINATION FRIED RICE ($7.50) - One of my favorite fried rices of all time!! This fried rice has eggs, onions, tomatoes, chicken, shrimp and squid!! Great item to order when sharing. // NOTE TO VEGETARIANS: In addition to their vegetarian section on the menu, most dishes can be made vegetarian by tofu replacement or meat ommission :) Just ask! There are so many more dishes that I enjoy from Sanamluang!! I recommend trying them all eventually but those are a few of my recommendations if you're feeling indecisive. Hope it was useful!!

New location finally opened. This is hands down one of the best Thai places in all of LA. Same diverse menu basics as the old Pomona and the Hollywood and NoHo locations, but they have great specials as well. The TomYum is outstanding - a must have for first timers if you like spicy food. Also good as an appetizer. I like it with a bowl of rice on the side. For noodles, i like the Pad See Ewe and Rahd Nah. The Spicy Mint Leave, Seafood or Beef are my favorite fried rices. Best dishes are Pad Prik King, Pad Ka Paow and Garlic Pepper Chicken. Curries are decent here. On the special menu, i love the Indian Curry Rice, but its only served weekends. On the appetizer menu, i usually go for the Fish Cake or Wonton. My all time favorite was Shrimp Cakes, but they got discontinued 15 years ago. Staff is friendly and fast. The new location is right next to the freeway and has great modern interior.

Their new location was definitely a big step up compared to the old restaurant in Pomoma. It looks much more modern and it appears to get a lot more traffic, now that it's in Claremont. Although it is literally less than a few miles apart from old location, where it looked like another hole in a wall restaurant. This new spot looks very fancy. Although I only gave this only 4 stars just because I like their food, I just wish they can work on the service, it seems like the waiter/waitresses forgets about my group when I'm dining in.

I want preface this with the fact that I'm not a big Thai water (disclaimer) I got the fried garlic pork which was good for the first 3, but then there was too much fried skin and not enough meat. We also got the spicy seafood soup which was good. I bit into one of the peppers and almost died but the soup had lots of meats. My girlfriend got the chow mein and there was hardly any chicken in it. So if you're a carnivore like me, then you might be a little disappointed but the seafood soup was good with lots of seafood

This restaurant is absolutely my GOLD STANDARD when it comes to Thai cuisine. I have been eating at this restaurant for about 10+ years and can never get tired of it. This is my first time in their new location and it is stunning. Definitely upgraded the aesthetics of the interior with modern furnishings and fancy wall decor. They also increased the number of tables accommodating a lot more people which is nice. Despite the change of the look, the food still has the same authentic taste that I have remembered from years ago all within a reasonable price range. Their service is also quick and the food didn't take long to come out at all. If I could give more stars, I would.

Great new place to try. Well new location, the rib bits were kind of hard to eat, lots of bones. The the flavor was good. Papaya salad was good it would have been over the top if it was served cold. Over all yummy

I have been to Sanamluang Thai Cuisine at Pomona three years ago and I remembered it being a hole in a wall kind of place. However, the new location at Claremont became a beautiful restaurant with outstanding Thai food and service. On Sunday evening after a long day of snowboarding, a group of 8 decided to get cheap Thai food for dinner and went to the new location, which was not hard to find since it was located right off the 10 freeway. We only had to wait for 20 minutes until we got a table at the far back (next to the kitchen doors). I love the seating arrangement of the place, especially the comfy booth-like seats located against the wall. Despite of the new changes, the orange bowls and plates remain the same since they most likely got transferred from the old location in Pomona. For our group, we ordered family style dishes such as pad see ewe, pineapple fried rice, spicy mint leaves fried rice, tom yum goong, pad kee mow, and jasmine hot tea to name a few. For the adventurous and spicy people out there, spicy mint leaves fried rice is the way to go. I ate a jalapeno that got me asking for another glass of cold water after having my tongue burned for almost ten minutes. For the not so spicy, I highly recommend the noodle dish called pad see ewe, which has a lot of meat that accompanies the fat noodles. I also recommend the pineapple fried rice, which brings out the best flavors for your taste buds. Despite of the busy crowd on a Sunday night, service was friendly and did not disappoint. The servers were able to bring out the dishes in a fast paced manner and they would make sure they delivered all of the food dishes to us by checking them off from a list they put on the wall. Overall, Sanamluang Thai Cuisine has affordable, delicious food in Claremont that you do not want to miss! Be advised, the front page of the menu still has the phone number and address of the Pomona location, which is now closed.

I've been going to Sanam Luang for years. But my last experience there got my wondering... What happened to the once most favorited Thai restaurant in LA? The dishes weren't as tasty and service was ridiculous.

My mom wanted to eat here for Mother's day this past Sunday. Of course this probably was not the most ideal time to go to this place since this is their brand new location too. Since it was Mother's Day, we waited for an hour to get seated. Of course no reservations are accepted in most places for special occasions. Upon placing our order, the waitress warned us it would take at least 45 minutes for certain dishes. Essentially she was trying to persuade us to order other dishes they had that would take less time. The Fried chicken wings & garlic pork spare ribs were greasy, salty, and such small portions even though we doubled up on this appetizer order. The tom yun soup was good. My daughter & I have dined at their old location in Pomona and I thought the food was good. But this previous Sunday was not a good experience. I'm not sure I will be back.

The best Thai food in the area. My friend, who is an international student from Thailand, prefers this place over any Thai restaurant in the Los Angeles area. They just moved to this new location but have been in the area for yearssssss. The new restaurant be lookin too fancy for their cheap food. Booths, bars, thrones; they've got 'em all. They designed this place well :) Plus one for the murals of thailand's iconic places. Hands down some of the best comfort food and I've never had an item I didn't like from here. Below are some of my regular items with the best listed earlier on the "list": Crunchy pork- the best of the best pork anywhere. Well-seasoned and crunchy. Perfect to go with the combination fried rice. Pra salid- fried rice with bok choy and salty fish, served in a cute clay pot. Rad nah- on the wet side when it comes to noodles. There's a distinct taste to it that I can't really describe but reminds me of the noodles I used to eat when I was younger. Combination fried rice- simple but delicious. I never thought I'd like fried rice when I'm eating out. I mean... How hard could it be to make fried rice, right? Wrong. They make it the right way, here. Whatever drug they're putting in here to make this simple dish this good, I want to buy it. Pad Thai- always a solid choice. They use white meat chicken here :). Pad see ewe- on the sweeter side but still savory. Pineapple fried rice- again, good fried rice they make here. This is an item my dad always get. Oh, it doesn't come in a pineapple though. Mint leaves fried rice- I love that this dish packs punches in flavor. To me, it's not that spicy but some of my friends can't handle the heat. The downside is that it's too oily for me :/ Can't forget the Thai tea boba. The sweetness is just right and boba balls are good for a restaurant (not too soft or too hard, just wish they would soak their boba in honey or sugar syrup or something).

Well this was my first time in this place, I'm a very picky person and I LOVE It! Food taste great, different flavors. But the service is deficient if you ask for water, wait 5 min., ask for a extra fork 5 min., and the check 15 min.

A very nice restaurant with modern design. Its clean line spacious dinning room has a very high ceiling, the exotic and delicious aroma welcomes every guest that comes through the door. Their food has a wonderful appetising display as well as very distinct and wonderful flavoring. A very contemporary and youthful eatery. We like this place.

Great Thai food. Best in the area. Service is also pretty good. Wait on weekend evenings can be long. So go early! The Chicken over rice is basically Hainanese Chicken Rice. It's a good version, though the chicken can be a bit tough and the rice a too wet for my liking. But my kids love it. The fried chicken wings are also excellent: but be warned they use skinny chicken wings, not like the buffalo wings that you would get at an American restaurant. But it's full of flavor. You can't really go wrong with any of the other dishes. My personal favorites are the green curry (order the rice separately), spicy fried rice with seafood and mint leaves, and the spicy basil chicken with rice.

To go waiting time is horrible! I called for a simple order..fried rice, soup, an appetizer and one dish. How does it take almost an hour for that to be prepared? I like how there's actual Thai ladies cooking the food but c'mon....MOVE ladies! It's a to go order for a reason. Supposed to be quick. The quality of the food is good but the wait is NOT.

This place is still awesome. And freakin HUGE!!!!... Looks real classy. I'm happy for them and they deserve it. The old location was around for EVER!!!! And I hope this one is too. Nice open kitchen when you first walk in. Greeted at door.. Quickly Smells the same.. Like home. Returning again. The only down side but EVERYONE has to know this after moving and renovating... Prices went up. But if it's still the same great taste. All worth it. PS. I still love those orange bowls and plates. They are still keeping it OG. and I love orange:)

I was trying to find a good Thai place in the area, and according to many locals and colleagues, Sanamluang was highly recommended. Coming into the place, our party was kindly accommodated with a short wait time despite the crowd. I noticed that the clean decor had a fusion of modern style with a Thai influence, which was very pleasing to look at from the canvas style walls to the custom plating. I ordered the Curry Rice dish with the General's noodle, both which tasted very authentic with all sorts of amazing flavors. Some dishes did take longer than others, but it was understood due to the fact that the most popular dishes were in high demand. We decided to finish off with a round of Thai iced tea, which was both refreshing and delicious. The customer service was very professional and helpful, making our party feel like it was a true family-style restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food or wants to give it a try. My friends, who have never tried Thai food, all had a very pleasant experience. If you want to experience savory, affordable, and exclusive Asian Cuisine, look no further, Sanamluang is where its at.

My husband and I have been going here since we started dating. This is definitely one of our favorite Thai restaurants of all time. Nothing ever compares to the quality of food, as well as the prices. Now that we live in Phoenix, we try to make an extra effort to stop by when we're in town. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone!

Sunamluange had really great customer service. The restaurant was a little busy when I came on a sunday, but it was only a 30 minute wait so it wasn't to bad. I only ordered the Tom Yum Gai it was quiet tasty I will def be back to try something else.

Excellency: Big fan of delicious Thai food. Helpful staff. Decent price. Right off the 10th freeway. Concern: Too crowded to dine with large group.

Beautiful Ambiance. Enjoyed their new location. This place has the best, Authentic Thai Food in the IE. Their portions are large enough to share. The service is always prompt, the prices are under ten dollars a plate. Who could ask for anything more.

Service was wonderful! Food was great! New location looks beautiful! Also they change the orange plates to ivory white color, which I thought was a great idea! Because the orange one made me feel like I was eating from a jail cell.

I went to this restaurant about 2 months ago and I did not like the food at this restaurant at all, which was the biggest deciding factor for the reason i gave it 2 stars. The food was so bland. I had the chicken pad see ew and the chicken seemed to have no taste. the noodles were okay, but the dish overall was lame in my option. I've DEFINITELY had better. My friend got the a pork belly dish which i tried and it was okay, but again, not very tasty and also has a very simple bland taste. we also had egg rolls as appetizer which were good. That was probably better than the entrees but they weren't very delicious. All in all the food was mediocre and I would definitely not go again because i feel like there is better thai food in the area. Now if you are going to the ambiance, it is definitely beautiful. It is spacious with beautiful decorations that do a great job in giving you a thai experience. The service was alright. They weren't rude but they weren't really attentive. But the service had nothing to do with why i wouldn't go back. Like I said, there are better places for thai food in the area, but if you were going for a date night experience then this place definitely tries to offer you that. Even though they have decent prices, I don't think i would come again.

One of our most favorite meeting places. Good food and nice place in the newer location. Always a crowd so be prepared to wait but so worth it!

I like curry. It'll make me happy in any circumstance. The service here challenges that. They probably hate when it's busy, at least it seems as if the do. As a server, I understand asshole customers. I wasn't an asshole though. I was prepared and didn't have the server wait when she asked what I wanted. It doesn't matter though. The wait for service and water was longer than the wait to be seated. Thanks for making my Saturday afternoon oddly unsatisfactory.

Yes the place is nice. The food is good. Shrimp fried rice is good it just had more tomatoes and onions rather than the rice. Duck over rice was really delicious and I don't like duck. Pad-thai was ok it lacked a little flavor. Thai-tea seemed watered down not a lot of flavor. Now the service...it was ridiculous!! Yes you guys are busy totally understandable but NOT once did you ask how we were doing. NOT once did you come back to refill our drinks. It took FOREVER to get our food. We received one dish and didn't get the rest until after my husband was already done with his food. Advice for the business owners: hire more servers and train them to check on their tables at least twice. I am not the only one who is complaining about service so that should say something.

First time here Decor beautiful and very Thai. Food was good prices great but took forever to get our food. We'll most definitely coming back but maybe not what seems to be peak hours.

Went here about three weeks ago. Second time to new location. Had been to Pomona location for years, no problem with service or food till last visit. Was a busy Sunday afternoon, took about 30 minutes to get seated. 10 minutes for beverages. Another 20 minutes to be recognized by the waitress that we have not yet ordered. Finally order and takes another 40 minutes for our order. Noticed the Thai family seated in front of us who sat down after us had their order taken within three minutes, food in 10 minutes. People in back of us, large party who sat down after us also had their food before us???? There was only me, hubby and daughter. I flagged down the hostess and she immediately apologized for the wait saying that what we ordered takes longer than other foods... Are you kidding me??? Finally we get our food after waiting almost 45 minutes seated. The waitress who took our order never stopped by to see if we were okay or needed anything. She was busy and passed by like we were invisible..... She just took our order and that was it! When we were done, again no one came to see if we needed anything else, had to flag down the hostess for our bill. Horrible horrible horrible customer service not even deserving of one star!!! Needless to say will never be back as a paying customer. Payed my bill and left a $1 tip.. Maybe should have left one penny instead or nothing at all. To Sanamluang restaurant.... Your food is good. Thai food is one of my favorites! Your customer service is horrible! Need to work on that or customers will not come back.. I don't plan to. Check your reviews.

We got here and half of the dishes they gave us were dirty. They still had crumbs of the previous dish. The food was okay, a little salty and the cups were chipped on the side.

This place seems like it's always busy. Whenever I'm in the area I call ahead for take out. Usually takes 25-30 minutes for the food to be ready. Great Thai food at a reasonable price.

Boyfriend and I came here on a Friday or Saturday night. There was a bit of a wait but they seated us within like 5 minutes of walking in. They took our order and I think they tried to rush us a bit too much at this point because they kept coming back and trying to take our order like twice even though we hadn't decided yet. I ordered the pad see ewe and my boyfriend got the BBQ pork fried rice I think. They got my boyfriend's dish and didn't give me mine until like 15-20 minutes later. We think it's because they gave my dish to someone else and just forgot about me for a while -.- As we were finishing up eating, they came by and gave us the check and gave us to go boxes -.- I thought this was supposed to be a restaurant, not a fast food joint. The plastic plates are super bright orange and tacky, too. They are cheap looking even though the rest of the decor in the restaurant is trying to look fancy. It just doesn't make sense. The food wasn't even that good. If you want Thai food at a good restaurant, just go to Bus Thai.

It took 2 hours to get food. And the female waitress was snarky. I left a $4 tip. But in hindsight, I wish I left nothing - except giving $2 for the nice Latino water lady.

This is just our best spot for spare ribs.. Never ate like this before.. And will not stop coming back.. No matter how far it is.. There is a long line every night.. Especially on weekend... And the cust service just so so.. If u kno what u are coming for everything is nothing compare to the good food that u will taste.. :))

I went here one time and the staff person suggested I get their chicken with some "special" rice. Lets see. I got boiled chicken on white rice with no seasoning at all. I wouldn't say it was "special" in any way. Just especially bland and tasteless. This place is super crowded. Not sure why, as the food was super boring.

Was in the area for a tennis tournament and decided get some Thai food after our team's victory. Couple of friends and I walk in and we were immediately greeted by a man(I think his name was Johnny?). I am an avid fan of Thai BBQ chicken so I ordered it. Took about ten minutes but boy was the food out of this world. The chicken skin was crisped to perfection and the meat was juicy and tender as ever. Server came by our table very five minute to refill our water and to ask if everything was ok. Exceptional service and exceptional food.

This is probably one of the best tasting Thai places in the area if you don't wanna drive all the way to Hollywood. This was my first time at their new location since i use to go to the old location years ago. Went on yelp & saw that they moved to a nicer location so decided to check it out. Came here for lunch with my boyfriend & had the tom yum goong, pad Thai, & garlic pork spare ribs which were all so delicious. Reason for the 1 star rating is how dirty this place is. This new location is beautiful, modern, & looks clean but upon closer inspection this place is dirty. Their restroom looks nice & new but no one seems to check it or maintain it throughout the day because all 3 toilets were stained & gross. There was also shredded paper towel all over the floor. When the server gave us our untensils, plates, & bowls we had to send half of them back to be replaced since there was caked on food residue on them. We also found an eyelash on one of the plates. Even when they replaced some of our things, we found more specks of food that were not as obvious but we decided not to say anything else after that. I love Thai food & their food was better than other places in the area but my experience here makes me question the overall cleanliness of this place. First impressions are important & now I question the cleanliness of the kitchen & if the workers are following proper food handling guidelines. Should have read the previous reviews before hand. One person said they found a fly in their soup & another found candy wrappers in their tea pot. I'm so disgusted. Looks are really deceiving in this case. Definitely never coming back to this establishment.

My favorite Thai food restaurant in the area! I love their duck over rice. The pad see ewe and pad thai are pretty good too. There all also a few others that I've tried, but they weren't that memorable. Be prepared to wait a bit for pick up orders during meal times since they're super busy, especially with the new location! The new location is even more convenient (right off the I-10), and has a much nicer interior also. I'm hoping to try the soups sometime, but the duck over rice tastes so good that I always end up defaulting back to that.

Have continued to go here for quite some time now, and still to this day, I am impressed by the many selections and very exquisite flavors. I have taken many of my friends to this establishment and they seem to agree with me in the fact that this place might be the very best place to get Thai food in the greater area. It is well worth the short wait you might encounter during busy hours, and the staff is always kind and courteous every time I go. One of my very favorite places to eat.

I have been here twice, the first time was ok. I thought the taste is good and the price is reasonable. however, when I came here again, I waited to be seated like 30 minutes which was acceptable because it was Saturday evening. The worse thing was that I ordered a dish with 'beef' but they gave me it with pork. I asked one of the servers if she can check out the dish again. She took it away and came back to me with it and said "Did you eat it? The kitchen said it is beef." I know what is beef and what is pork. It was def 'pork'. She seemed not to care of what I think. I guess the kitchen ignored my claim because they were so busy(there were still many people to be seated even at 8.30 pm). I think I won't come this place again.. very disappointed.

Went to eat last night on a Thursday around 8pm. Usually this place is PACKED no matter when you go but somehow we got lucky and there was no wait at all and we got seated right away. The servers are friendly if only a tad informal and get confused about what order goes at what table, but they are quick to fix any errors asap. Four stars for the food itself, because I am a picky eater when it comes to eating Thai food, but this place tastes authentic to me with lots of flavor and high quality tasting food. My favorite dish had to have been the beef and tender noodle soup, I would come back just for a serving of that. For a party of 5, we ordered around 6 dishes and 5 different beverages and the price was $50. Very affordable price for a large amount of food. This place seems to be super popular and with such a nice decor inside and tasty food, I understand why.

Not coming back.. Took too long to get our food.. Banana bay and Thai BBQ are still my number one. Pad see ew was salty. Pad prik king which is one my favorite dishes was a disappointment. Green beans were undercooked and tofu over cooked. Maybe just not a good day to eat here.

Been coming here since the early 90s and it used to be my favorite Thai food restaurant. Since the new location I've only been here twice, once in January and it was packed and the service sucked and all the food came at different times. Today I went to pick up takeout. Ordered Pad Thai per usual and when I got home and opened the box something had changed. Instead of just ground peanuts they were mixed with breadcrumbs! Really? I get Thai food because I can't have gluten and now u put breadcrumbs in it? Had to give my food away! Will never come back!

Food was tasty but a bit sparse in the veggies and smaller version on soup offering. I would have loved to order the soup bowl for 2. Parking as others have said was very tight as the lot is shared with numerous business and a hotel. I may return though being unable to have neither soup or salad as was a draw back for me.

I was never really a fan of Thai food, or Asian food in general, until I tried Sanamluang. My first experience here was over a year ago at the old location and I've been coming back at least once every month. The interior has a beautiful American-Asian influence to it. The food is very well priced with most dishes going for under $10. My favorite dishes are the grilled bbq pork, spare ribs, and pad see ewe with their Thai tea on the side. The food is always consistent along with the service. Whether I decide to go out for a formal dinner with the family or to grab a quick bite on my own, Sanamluang is always my first option. They even do pick up orders which is perfect for when I'm on the go!

As an avid Thai food lover, this restaurant has no competition! Hands down the best Thai food I've ever had! The staff and service are really friendly and I have had 0 complaints on the innumerable times that I've been here! I can't eat Thai food around my place anymore (North Hollywood) because this place really just sets the bar and is always worth the drive! P.S. you can never go wrong with the pad Thai here ;)

  • Grishnakov S.

Hate that they moved. Even though it's just a block north from the original spot, and the place looks great, it's twice as crowded now. There's even a wait on a Wednesday. So, don't expect the best service when it's crowded. Still the best Thai in the 909 though. Favorite dishes are Kao Moo Dang (bbq pork, crispy pork belly, Chinese sausage, and rice over red gravy), and the boat noodles.

Salted Fish Fried Rice and Pad Thai are my go to! I love this thai restaurant. I would rather go here than MixBowl. For some reason, Sanamluang always hit the spot whatever I order. They recently moved to a new location, which is close to 10FWY. Not only modern and clean, this new location also has bigger capacity. -1 star because of the long wait

  • Liz M.

This place is wonderful. They have great food, nice ambiance and friendly attentive staff. The prices are reasonable and the menu is authentic. The ONLY reasons I give 4 stars is the day we went there was a long wait (which I suppose is actually good considering I wouldn't want to eat somewhere that has no customers but we were on a business lunch without the luxury of being able to take our time), the delay for half our party's food did not arrive until the others had finished for some time (party of 4) and the bathroom was a little rough that day. With that said, none of those issues will deter me from going back and hopefully I can update to 5 stars!! I do definitely recommend this place.

Excellent Thai food. Probably the best in the IE. Customer service is always good. Since the move to the new location they have been more busy than before. This restaurant is a perfect example of a small business growing due to excellent product: Thai food. We usually order the pad Thai and the combination fried rice. Very tasty. The fried wontons are always a hit too.

  • Aubrey J.

Service is really off (slow, don't really speak English, never check up on you) but the food definitely makes up for it. I've eaten at various Thai places & am very familiar with the popular Thai meals; I would say Sanamluang does a great job serving very tasty & hot (both in heat & spice lol) food. Came here to celebrate a birthday with my co-workers who don't often eat Thai/Asian food & they were thoroughly impressed. Will come back again! There were 7 of us who split a mix of 8 entrees/appetizers and it came out to $12 each including tip! Not bad at all! Left there feeling full & satisfied!

Yesterday, I went to Thai cuisine with my sister I really really love this food here because it is spicy food. I just tried sea food fried rice, wonton soup and a lot of delicious foods it make me remember about food that my mother cooked because this place make me feel one family it is very warm and cozy . This restaurant is very crowd you have to wait just five to ten minutes until your turn but service and waitress is very kind. I think that is a wonderful you should spend time to go with family at the weekend.

Been coming here since I was 12 years old. I'm Indonesian & back then there were so few Indonesian restaurants cause we're such minorities. So my family & I have been coming here if we need to satisfy our home country food cravings. Now that they've moved to a new location & bigger place, it's more known among other non-Asians. The food are great & very affordable. My favorites are spicy mint leaves fried rice & ka nom pak kard (radish). They accommodate large parties as well

I loved everything about this place. The ambiance was welcoming, and so was Monty, the hostess with the mostest. Is that a word? Anyway, I truly enjoyed my dinner, and will be returning soon for more. Parking is a little tight, so consider carpooling. Prices are very reasonable. Come hungry as their portions are generous.

  • Erika H.

First things first, I came here on a recommendation from a friend and I would not hesitate to reccomend this place to anyone looking for amazing food at an amazing price. The updated, modern ambiance is just a plus. The food is definitely what makes this place 5 stars. The pad see ew was a perfect blend of flavors and the noodles were cooked just right. The panang curry was delicious and hot, wonderfully paired with a bed of steamed rice. That being said, this is an extremely busy restaurant and waiters have their hands full most of the time, making their service slower. Despite this, this place is my new go to spot to eat out or order out. I am in love with the food and will be coming back soon!

  • Christina N.

I went here on a recommendation of a coworker. My first visit was fantastic. We came late around 11pm and we were seated immediately. The pad see ew was very delicious and the service was quick. They were also playing some of my favorite 90s songs like spice girls and n'sync. During our second visit, all the hostesses were dressed in traditional clothes for Chinese New Years, which made for a very festive atmosphere. The pad see ew this time was rather saucey, like they put too much soy sauce. It was a busy night so I'll give 'em a break. The pad Thai, however, was absolutely delicious. They've definitely got a repeat customer.

Love this place, I have going to their old location for yeeeears. So happy they were able to upgrade and move into this new swanky spot. They really put a lot of effort into the decor and try to bring you back to Thailand with all the wall murals. I always love coming here for great food and friendly service. Even though they were packed and line was going out the door the service was still great. Food came out quick enough, the tom yung gun soup is a must at every meal. We tried the fried cat fish with curry sauce it was pretty good, the fish was a little over cooked but the sauce was awesome. Grilled beef salad and pad thai is usually a must as well. The picked chilies on the table are awesome if you can handle the spice. Even though this is a bit of a drive for me its so worth it.

  • Tim R.

After seeing how crowded this new place was, we had to check it out. We were not disappointed! We had the chicken curry--a weekend special--and it was really tasty. We also had egg rolls and the cha-po. The meats on the cha-po were really good--nice BBQ pork, tasty duck, and some nice, crispy fried pork belly. The egg rolls were crisp, but not super oily like a lot of places. They have a nice menu that a has quite a few items you don't see everywhere, so I know we'll be back to try something different. We saw a lot of people had some rice bowl in a little iron pot, so we're pretty curious about that. A table close by had some really delicious looking pud--see--ewe. I recommend going early for dinner. We didn't wait at 5pm, but there were a lot of people waiting when we left an hour later. Park on the street if don't like to be hassled parking.

Been going here for years with my family. They just moved to their new location recently and it is really nice. They have very friendly service and their food is delicious. Definitely a place we will keep coming back to. One of my favorites there is their fried rice and their wonton soup...it always hits the spot. That paired with iced coffee with boba makes my tummy happy haha

Upon the realization that the older Sanamluang area closed down and is under construction (followed by mourning the loss of La Favorita Ranch Market, hopefully it comes back for nostalgia's sakes), I followed the map and found its new location. The new location is glittered with a new decor and looks splendid. I'll miss the old look of Sanamluang but I'm digging the new decor! The staffs are the same with a few new faces, the service hasn't changed so that's a treat. The most important part is the food. I love the Pad See Ew and always made sure to order it every time I come by. Other dishes I strongly recommend are the Pad Thai, Fried Rice, Wonton Soup, Seafood Soup, and Chicken Satay. I've been here since I was a little kid, around 5 or so. Now that I am 20, I'm drowned in waves of childhood nostalgia and always loved coming back here. I remember a very tall individual, perhaps of Thai descent, in their older location near the La Favorita Ranch Market. He always served me and my family and can be considered a family friend of ours, sadly, I was too young to get his name, or even know his name, but he left long ago and what's left of my memory is the fact Sanamluang is still here to serve me great Thai dishes.

This used to be my 909 Thai restaurant until they relocated to the newer place. -Food has slightly declined in taste (possibly because of higher volume of people) leading to long wait time on orders. I ordered food at 11:40 am and didn't get my plate until 12:30 pm. I don't know what the deal was, but 50 mins? I had to remind them twice about the order. There were 2 tables ahead of me that were also waiting long and complaining. So...new place, more people come to eat. The number of employees were the same amount of what they had at the old location. So why can't they hire 1-2 extra server or extra cook to make service faster? After waiting 50 mins, I was already irritated and starting to lose my appetite. If this keeps up, they will start losing customers. I rather take extra 15-20 mins and go to banana bay for better Thai food and drinks than waiting for food.

After seeing this new Thai spot open up I was curious to see what it was all about. So of course I checked it out on Yelp. I read many useful reviews so one night my girls and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant shares a parking lot with Western Dental and a few other stores in a strip mall, we went at about 7pm on a Saturday and there was no parking. We saw a lot of people standing outside waiting, which leads us to believe the food must be insanely good! So we left our name on the list after I finally found parking. The wait was around 30min, which was not too bad. Finally we were seated and we ordered what we usual order when we go out for Thai. The panang chicken, krapow beef and pad Thai. Everything was delicious, however the wait for us to get our food took longer than we expected.

  • Rayanne M.

Couldn't wait to try this place as I heard a lot of good things about it. Upon arriving we put our name on the list and figured it would be a short wait since there were 5 or 6 empty tables. Very wrong assumption it took the staff about 20 minutes to even begin seating people and by that time there were way too many people standing in the entry. Once we were seated the service and food was great. I believe if they hired a dedicated host/hostess and table busser for each side it would make the turnover of tables more efficient and increase sales as well as get people seated faster and inhance customer satisfaction.

Just found our new Thai place! Have not finished eating and are blown away. We ordered take out for the first time tonight, he ordered pad Thai with chicken, I ordered #54 and eggrolls...Most delicious Thai I've tasted!
