A funny thing happened on the way to Walmart, my aunt was craving Indian food for lunch. I remembered Claremont had this place and it's always packed. And so, I drove until we found the place: Delhi Place Express. Delhi Place Express' lunch buffet was fresh made. Plenty choices. Some of the dahl's and curries had whole spices like homemade Indian food. The garlic naan was fresh made too. The rice pudding was watery. So we didn't try it. Also, there was no gulab jamun, however, there was a little sign for it. Upsetting indeed. My aunt enjoyed the mango lassi until she found out it was canned mango. I had a cup of hot chai tea. Overall, we left the fast food buffet completely satisfied.

This location is closed! I need to make this review long enough so it won't be placed as a tip. It's closed!

I'm sad that Delhi Palace Express closed because it used to be a wonderful place to eat. The original owners delivered wonderful food for so many years. It was family run and the food was made from the heart. But then they got bought out and the food changed drastically. It was horrible. A shell of the warm, cozy edibles from the past. I tried the new owners twice and that was enough. I wouldn't have gone back, but I'm still sad. I miss the old Delhi Palace Express in Claremont and the final closure means that will never come back.

I found this place by accident. What a great find!!! Everything I ordered was delicious and my family Loved it too! Also, they delivery within a 5 miles radius yay! Food was fresh, Service was quick and prices were reasonable too. I will definitely be back! I ordered Samosas, Chicken Tikka Masala, Rice & Naan

  • Nitesh S.

This is in no way Indian food. My friends have fallen sick each time they have been here. Please don't try this place out. Doesn't represent Indian food.

    (2)
  • Jen P.

I gave this place three stars because the people are nice and they're open til 9. In terms of the food... I only got rice and chicken tikka masala. The chicken was chewy and the sauce wasn't as good as other Indian food places. Also, I thought it was pretty pricy for what you get (my total was $15 and change) I'd go here again if I'm having a crazing late otherwise I'd drive farther for better Indian food.

  • Alexandria V.

First, they no longer deliver. Ever. Second, placed on hold three times for what totaled a 20 minute phone call ending at 8pm. (I can't imagine they were terribly busy at this hour). Went to pick up the food, husband never checks and they had forgotten rice. Husband went back and received a single helping (not what we paid for) because they were out and would have to make more. As far as quality of food. I think they poured sugar into everything. paneer sagwala had two pieces of cheese and I didn't see very much spinach at all. I honestly don't want to know what I ate, and omg was it sweet. So gross. Husband had chicken Tikka masala, sweet as well. The samosa was OK. The Naan was soggy and we ordered garlic, but there was no garlic on it. Go eat at Curry up in Pomona if you want actual Indian food for cheap. So much better it doesn't even compare. Wish I could give it less than 1 star. Go ANYWHERE else.

I personally enjoyed this place. Clearly it's not going to be amazing for the price you pay, but it is good. Plenty of vegetarian options. We ended up with 2 orders of naan, a large scoop of rice, a side salad palak paneer and a couple other entrees for $12.00. This was enough food for 2 of us. My only complaint was the gentleman assisting us didn't know to much about the food when we asked questions (I.e. what kind of salad dressing is that? He was unsure). If you are looking for authentic, this is not your place. If you are looking for quick, cheap and decent this is the spot to go.

  • Pandoras B.

I was very pleasantly surprised how delish the good was. The samosas were cooked right as I ordered them for take out. I only wish the portion sizes were a little Larger for the price we paid $20.71 for two two combos, two drinks. Still a little hungry.

Great price and volume of food but BAD quality, selection and restaurant. We came here after the farmers market excited to try some Indian food. We knew it was cheap so our expectations were low. My first complaint is that the young man serving the food didn't know what vegan was. He served me a naan saying that it's vegan and that all the food on the right was as well. After eating a few bites of the naan I got suspicious and asked about the ingredients. It DID have milk and I explained nicely what vegan means. We then went through the food again and half of the stuff on my "plate" (I'll explain later) had dairy. "Plates": I know it's a fast food place but it is extremely wasteful to get a new styrofoam plate every time for the all-you-can-eat lunch. We went three times each and reused the same plate even though he told us to throw it away. We actually care about the environment and want the business we support to do the same. The location is good and inside is okay. I would ask the owner to add an umbrella on the outside tables to prevent the tree from dropping tons of dry leaves on our food. Otherwise, it was very pleasant outside. I wouldn't recommend anyone going here and will not be coming back. There are plenty of Indian restaurants with good lunch prices so no need to settle for a place like this.

This is really an 'expires' place. The food is not that tasty. I would say very very normal.

    (2)
  • Joebot 3.

I've been coming here for over 15 years... tonight there's a sign on the door that reads "closed due to vermin infestation" courtesy of the Health Department. That's a lot of rat poop i've most likely consumed over the years.

    (1)
  • Olivia S.

Not quite authentic Indian food, but it's billed as "Indian Fast Food" to get around that. I often stop in by myself to grab something quick, but if looking to sit down and enjoy a conversation with a friend, I would choose somewhere else. It tends to be quiet and empty, with the back lights usually turned off. Not an ambiance for lingering and chatting. Food is okay, prices decent.

    (3)
  • Dulce B.

Great price and tasty food and they let you serve yourself! This place is kool bean and awesome sauce.

  • Jbravie H.

Not a great start here. I was in Claremont for business and I saw this place on Yale ave. the sign says 11-9 7 days a week. It's now 11:22 and still not open. It sucks because I was looking forward to trying this place. The funny thing is this place lost 3 customers since I've been here waiting for them to open. Obviously the owners here don't care about business. I wonder if the food is actually worth the wait. I personally would tend to doubt it. After all, if they don't care about the business why would they care about their food? Now it's been a total of 5 customers they've lost. Hahahaha. Wow!!

  • The P.

This place used to be soooooooo good several years ago. Then they got new owners and the qualities gone way down. I rather eat Trader Joes microwaveable meals. I gave them 2 stars because the people are really nice and the portions are generous

    (2)
  • Andrew C.

The place is decent, cheap and...well...it's there. I give them 4 stars because: a) food is consistent b) the price is right c) the staff has always been helpful I live pretty close by, and it's on my list of quick and easy meal options. It is not the best place for this kind of food, but it's not bad at all.

    (4)
  • Bridget P.

These are the 3rd owners I believe and are an improvement as I really like their taste profiles for the sauces. This is an ethnic fast food with swift service and a nice selection for a buffet. If you're hoping to fatten yourself up for winter then buy the all you can eat, but don't complain about the portions because they serve you exactly what you ASK for, speak up. We frequent here because it is a family owned not franchise that uses fresh ingredients. If you have vegetarian friends at least they won't complain about not having a selection, if they do then just assume they don't like eating as much as they prefer to complain.

  • Matthew A.

The food was decent I enjoyed it , the portion was large enough to satisfy the average sized person I ordered the tikka masalla chicken it was okay the chicken was well cooked and the curry/sauce wasnt flavorless it did have a good light flavor I ordered another entree as well it was the spinach and cheese it was really good it was flavorful and had the lightest cheese taste that was great the garlic Naan was really fresh and light perfect using it to grab pinches of the spinach with it was excellent As for the customer service It is a lot nicer when you go to an ethnic restaurant and the employees are the ethnicity of the represented culture I did not have this experience this time oh well it was friendly and attentive service so I'm fully satisfied reminds me of a time I went to benihana and expected to have an awesome Japanese chef cook my meal in front of me on the hibachi Jose cooked it instead I will definitely be coming back thanks to the quality of the food and service I comment in the least offensive way possible thank you oh and if your a student they give you a dollar off with I.d I didn't know this so I culdnt take advantage :(

    (4)
  • Marisol B.

In terms of good quality, inexpensive Indian food, this is the place. Despite being so small, they are extremely accommodating, even when we brought a group of 15 college students in. The vegetarian options are also great, and they ensure you won't run out of naan first. For a poor college student, this is a fantastic place to eat.

    (5)
  • Bill V.

Excellent service. Food was tasty, and I got a lot in the 2-dish combo with a drink for about $10. Cafeteria-like atmosphere. Good spot for a quick bite if you are in the neighborhood, but not (and not meant to be) a fine dining experience.

  • Rambone R.

when getting food to go they dont snap on the lids most of the time so you end up with a mess in the bag and miss out on whatever was in the container that spilled and food is definitely bland for indian food but the price is also cheaper, people at the counter always seem pretty darn unhappy... im mostly annoyed right now because i have been there maybe 7 times in the past 2 years and got food to go 6 times, out of those 6 maybe 4 or 5 times i have had a mess in the bag because they just set the lids on top of the containers without snapping them on and i keep forgetting to check and make sure the lids are actually on.. i now think its on purpose and maybe funny to them or something now.. and i tipped them and definitely regret that now... oh yeah and they forgot my salad that is supposed to come with the combo too, i had to ask them about it when i was leaving...

    (1)
  • Jonnell T.

If you're in the mood for something bold, flavorful, cheap and fast I would definitely recommend this place. It is not the best Indian food you will ever eat but for price and convenience - you can't beat it. They have a good selection of options. You can get a 1,2 or 3 item combo all for under $9.00 and each comes with rice, salad, entree option and regular or garlic naan. They have a cooked to order menu but I've yet to try it out. They also offer a buffet but I haven't tried that one either. I usually just get the 2 item combo for $7.95. Good food, prompt service and definitely a break from all your regular fast food options. Try it out!

  • Nancy R.

Just moved back to the area from the valley and I have to say it is the best cheap/fast indian food in the area. Food is fresh and good, could use a little more spicy kick but then again I'm used to indian food from the valley.

    (4)
  • Tony H.

I would describe the food here as mall Indian food. If you absolutely want Indian food and can't drive to a good restaurant, this will get the job done. It's not bad, but it's not that good either. The curries are slightly sweet and all the food is missing the complex flavors that make Indian food so interesting. With all the great restaurants in the village, I would pass on this one.

    (2)
  • Taylor M.

Food is very affordable and service was kind. Not as authentic or as flavorful as I would like and the health rating of B concerns me.

    (2)
  • Cari O.

I think this is a decent Indian restaurant, but the name says it all. Delhi Palace EXPRESS. Don't expect to get a huge selection. I would suggest to them to have more of a meat selection. They only have one chicken dish that I can recall. The spinach and hommade cheese dish is really good and so is the naan bread, but the bread is not consistent! I feel like they reheat the bread if it isn't sold the day before. It was wayyyy too crunchy. I've had it fresh before and it's so good. Staff could use a smile, but they are friendly enough. Parking is hit or miss cuz it's in the busy area of Claremont Village. Don't park in the bank lot, they have like 2 security guards watching people. What really worries me is that the inside is kind of hot and humid and the food isn't piping hot. They are wasting energy with an AC that only blows warm air. They really should invest in a central air system because it is very uncomfortable in there. I would usually take it to go or eat it outside. I will still go, but not very often. Also, what up with the salad dressing? It tastes like sour yogurt, ew.

    (3)
  • Michael P.

They serve bland Indian food in watery sauces. Indian food often has an interesting combination of spices with a rich flavor. This isn't terrible or offensive, but it's not even close to authentic.

    (2)
  • Susan L.

My friend went to pick up food for the house since we are all studying for exams. 3 medium tubs: Paneer Spinach, Tikki Masala, Lamb Curry. I believe they were $8/tub. Last night we made 3 cups of rice to go along with this. Ordered 3 bottled drinks (lychee, guava, mango) and 3 samosas. The food is here is just alright. I'm not in love with it. We ordered from the cart (premade)....and I've been here before too. They have combination plates as well. Maybe it'll taste better if it was made fresh. I'm sure you can order off the menu but it'll cost more. My roommate goes here right before exam and stock up enough for a week. We decided it was the most convenient. For a restaurant that is located on the claremont strip, it's shameful that it's not the hot spot for indian food. Maybe they make money just because they are located in a good area.

    (3)
  • Luke P.

We didn't die so we are giving it 2 stars instead of 1. The location is convenient. The service was helpful enough. Tables were reasonably clean. Not much to praise as far as atmosphere. Now for the food- This was not really indian food. The Tikka Masala tasted like canned pizza sauce. Vegetable curry was flavorless. Even my husband who eats almost everything (including old food on the counter "because it is just sitting there") threw his meal away and said everything tasted like it was from a can. Save yourself the money and go buy a can pizza sauce- its a lot cheaper...and tastes the same.

do not go here twice now i have called and they said they would be open until 9 pm and twice now i have gone and they were closed before 830. even called and said i was on my way and to please not close early! never going here again. too bad i loved the food and the quantity you get but wasting my gas is not worth it when i dont get the food! spent alot of money on this place and they will suffer! now finding a new place that is closer and better! oh and since they werent open i decided to go the grand burger which is awesome. whoever reads this should try it if your close to glendora.

  • Ronald S.

Im no expert on Indian food, but this place is decent. It's not freshly prepared as it is served from a line, but the food is tasty and I have never had a complaint on the service. I always have the Tandoori chicken on rice, with saag paneer and the garlic naan. That is my goto and it tastes good every single time. If you want gourmet Indian food than this isnt it, but if you want it fast and cheap and tasty...this is the place.

    (3)
  • Jenmarie E.

Chicken was of such bad consistency and texture I had to spit it out. This restaurant has a B dept of health rating and even though it's an A now, I still have concerns...

Decent (I've never had Indian express-style before) food, quick service. Tasty food!

    (3)
  • Gen E.

My first time there (and first time eating Indian) it was really good. I had the chicken masala & the aloo gobi. Both yummy dishes...but the best was the freshly made naan bread

    (4)
  • H S.

It's not bad... but it is not the best place to go either. If you are Indian and can not get out of Claremont then sure go here for a nice and cheap meal, but if you have a car, some more cash then definitely go someplace better. It is ok to for getting over a craving of Indian food. The food is 2/5 and the atmosphere is very fast-foody but the people who run it are very nice and generous so I give it a 3/5. Not a bad place for a quick snack though. Cheap samosas, kulfi and tea. Suitable for vegetarians. Palak Paneer is ok but the dal is good.

    (3)
  • Adam F.

This was my introduction to Indian food. While I have since had better, I will still maintain that this is well above average as far as fast food Indian goes (actually having quite a bit of flavor) and you can get a lot of it for cheap, without a wait.

    (4)
  • Ruben R.

I love Claremont and the food that downtown has to offer- but this place is a bit of a sad case. Food is tasteless. This place should NOT be in downtown among so many tasty options.

    (1)
  • Joe M.

For what it is, Indian Fast Food, it's pretty good. I've definitely had better, but it wouldn't be fair to compare them with a sit down restaurant. I would never compare McDonalds with let's say, Slater's 50/50 or even Islands, just because they both serve burgers. So for what they are, they serve great Indian fast food. I love the all you can eat lunch buffet. The samosas are good. The Veggie Korma is my favorite. If I wasn't worried about smelling like garlic the next day I'd eat the Garlic Naan until I threw up. As most have mentioned, the owners are friendly.

    One of my favorite places!

The food was hot and very tasty and the service was fast and friendly. I will be going back and would definitely recommend this place.

  • Tamara S.

Totally great place. I absolutely love their vegetarian options and their healthier options. I'd highly recommend trying everything, and the buffet is definitely worth it. Everything is just so darn delicious!

    (4)
  • Paul F.

I have been here many a time for the buffet, and while it is always decent, I do agree that it has gone downhill since I first went here. But still, the boneless tandoori and the other spicy boneless chicken is good and its worth the 8 bucks to try it out. Lunch buffet is $8.95, dinner is $9.95. Not too bad, you'll leave hella full.

  • William P.

Relatively inexpensive, fast, flavorful. If I have the time, though, I prefer to order off the menu, rather than take a selection of the foods already prepared. We've been here many times; as fast foods go in the neighborhood, this is a favorite.

When I was pregnant, I was at this place several times a week to indulge my cravings, consequently my son is a blue-eyed Punjabi baby, favoring rice over the potatoes that his German heritage would predispose him towards... The restaurant changes hands, prices increase, but the menu remains predictable because is classic, fast-food Indian food - it is acceptable, not amazing. Crowd pleasers are lentils, spinach, chickpea stews, the bread, and mango lassi. Food is on the bland and creamy side, and that is what makes it work for most Americans - and kids. To keep price down, I often make my own rice, a hardy meat stew (using a packaged indian spice mix) and order tubs of Delhi Palace Express for small gatherings. This is how I appear exotic and otherworldly for my frequent out of town visitors. They expect it now. My son and I go here once a month for lunch to enjoy a sizable gluten free menu choice. This place is ever a staple in my life.

  • Erika Josephine W.

I have eaten at several fast food indian places. Delhi Palace really isn't that good. The food was moderately warm and I felt like the server was being stingy. We were the only people in the restaurant and he only gave us a tiny bit of food on the express buffet food. I wasn't impressed with the taste either. I'll probably give it another try in the near future.

This place is a disgrace... Many years ago this place was decent (decent, not good or great), but now it's just gone down hill fast!! The food has NO taste, and is hopelessly greasy, oily, and salty. The samosa is decent. The gulab jamun is ok too. I found this place about 6-7 years ago, and took my in-laws there because we were in the village looking for a place to eat. Ever since, they insist on getting indian food there... I get downright irate when they patronize such a place... Either claremont residents are not foodies, or they are too lazy to seek out better tasting indian food. Even today, my in-laws brought me food from there, the palak (spinach) dish was ok (don't know if it was palak paneer or something else). Next, there was a yellow-ish dish with some veggies in it, i had no idea what this dish even was... And then there was this chicken dish with veggies, again, I was dumbfounded as to what this dish was. Both the latter dishes were tasteless, and the chicken tasted kinda like mushroom chicken from panda express. If I could give this phone 0 stars I would.. Avoid it at all costs!!! I do not know how they stay in business.

We love this for an easy take-out meal! The veggie korma is my personal favorite, but we have tried many of dishes and haven't had a bad one yet. The owners are always very nice and friendly (and it has an A rating, which is more than I can say for Bombay Bistro).

Seriously this is the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. The upside is that because the food is so bad this is the only buffet in town (or perhaps in America) where you can go and be sure that you won't over eat. I can't imagine many Indians eating here !!

Revolting. This place serves what vaguely resembles Indian food, but is actually just curry flavored soups with day old rice and crackers and what seems to be large quantities of laxatives. I had a friend who loved this place. We are no longer friends.

Would be one star if the service wasn't friendly. Indian food as fast food is not an inherently gross concept (works great as a lunch buffet). So why is this place so terrible??? Too much cream, too little spice. And I got the gulab jamon. It was cold and chewy. Claremont needs a good Indian food place. This is not it.

Foodies, stay away from this place! I was so hoping that this would be one of the few good, authentic ethnic eateries in Claremont, but alas.... First, they cannot handle lines of more than a few people. I stood in line for exactly 30 min. while 8 people ordered before me, and stayed only to give it a fair chance. Second, the food tastes good for the first few bites, then takes a nosedive while you start to wonder, "Why am I eating this slop?" It's extremely salty, greasy, and cafeteria-quality. What a shame, when Indian food can be aromatic, complex, and textured with warm spices. And I was crestfallen to find that the palak paneer, my favorite Indian dish, did not even have paneer (Indian cubed cheese) but only greasy spinach slop. The sad truth....and I would've loved to have a staple Indian place in Claremont.

After hearing about this from a friend over and over again, went to try it finally. It's basically fast food Indian food, you point and you get it on a plate. For the price, $7.95 I got 3 sides with the rice and garlic naan. They gave me a LOT of naan which was awesome. For the most part, the flavors were good but not memorable. The price was fair but could of been better.

I've given this place three tries and its so sad because we love Indian food and it is so convenient to us, but the food is inedible.

At one time, I would have given this restaurant four stars. Since it has changed owners about two and a half years ago, the food quality took a turn for the worse. It is still okay, but nothing like it was. One day, I shall try it again and hope that they have succeeded in restoring the food to its past glory. It is good to know that they naan is still freshly made. I will still recommend this place to those who are looking for an inexpensive alternative to typical fast food joints. The all-you-can-eat $8.95 special is hard to beat. They also made very good mango lassi.

I feel bad giving this review because I live in the village but this place is not the best. There is an Indian place in pomona called curry up and it is WAY better! Worth the 10 minute drive from claremont :)

My first impression is that I love the patio furniture. There is something about that kind of detail that draws me in. The best part about a place like this is when you are meeting up with a friend you've known for nearly 18 years, thus, you are sure to enjoy the company, even if the food is not stellar. For me that is not the case. Turns out my friend, Jamie, is a regular. Behind the counter the pregnant lady (who thinks she's having a boy) is eager to help me choose some items on the menu. Granted, my first experience with Indian (the dot, not the feather) food was in England, so I'm a bit spoiled. Thanks to some discussion on what I like, she helped me choose the chicken vindaloos and a dish with lentils. She also added some side dishes that made my food even spicier. I can't help but wonder if some how elements of Indian food inspired elements of Mexican food, because the similarities in textures and spiciness are uncanny. Out on the back patio, Jamie and I enjoy a rare night summer air. Most of my plate is cold by the time I get around to eating due to all the things I have to tell her. She's such an amazing and talented inspiration. I know we'll back to eat and talk for another 3 hour chat fest.

Reliable and fast. Dishes are okay, but the naan is hot and fresh with each meal.

The most horrible place I have ever eat. Food is not authentic, taste is NOT AT ALL Indian, more than that food and cost ratio is terrible. Trust me, this is not how Indian cuisine taste like.

This place is pretty good. It's fast food, so you get what you expect, but it certainly beats chains (like McDonalds, Carl's Jr, etc). The food sits in trays and stays hot, but it's not like going to an Indian restaurant. With that being said, the food is surprisingly good and, at that price, it's definitely worth it. I also enjoy the free refills aspect.

This is basically an Indian version of Chinese fast food, but with all the flavor and quality that you'd be missing at the average fast food place. I have been eating here for 8 years- it's addicting! . HERE'S"S THE SECRET: you HAVE to ask for the 'all you can eat' special. It is about 7.95. It is NOT on the menu. It is like a cafeteria line. You get a styrofoam plate, and they serve you up HUGE portions of whatever you like. The Naan is delicious, and cooked up fresh with your meal @ no extra charge. I recommend ordering the garlic naan. Crispy, huge, and delicious. Salad and Gulab (sweet syrupy dessert) is included. Limited menu of drinks- they have a soda fountain. Food is freshly made and delicious. This is a mixture of Northern AND Southern style Indian food. Many dishes are less spicy and more subtly spiced than the heavily spicy Southern India fare. Most the dishes are very heavy on the cream and cheese, but well balanced! Vegetarian dishes aplenty: but if you are vegan, than this is definitely not the place for you. Family owned and they are very friendly. Indoor and some patio seating. Located in the charming downtown area of Claremont. I highly recommend trying the palak paneer!

The good: Indian fast food at a decent price. Wide selection of dishes, naan is fresh. The bad: quality is not up to my standards in Indian food. Fast food, I understand, but the dishes I had were bland and too similar. Also, the naan I had were very crunchy which is not what I'm used to. That said, it's good in a pinch, and if you're craving Indian in the village, it can be a good place to go. As far as fast goes in the village, it's still my top choice.

  • Reddy N.

This is hands down some of the worst Indian food I've had. You can't tell the difference between half of the dishes because they use the same exact sauces and just throw in different meat or vegetables. Now I could live with that if the sauces were flavorful but they're not , they're bland and super sweet. The positives here are that the naan is fresh and they give you a lot of food for your money. If you really want authentic Indian food then head over to Cerritos, it may be a bit of a drive but trust me, your taste buds will thank you. Orrrr there's always the option of sucking up to your indian friend to get their mom to cook you some legit food.

... I feel like I don't need to say this... It's so obvious I'm sure. But I missed the "obvious" ...and if I can just help one person, ONE PERSON, then my job is done. Complete. .. So, it's fast food. The food does sit out for hours. It's expected, you know what you're getting yourself into. But the naan was fresh made, or freshly heated up, one of the two. What I really didn't like... REALLY was annoyed by: They serve their food, whether for here or to go, on Styrofoam plates. What a friggin waste! Also... they put the hot food on cheap styrofoam... makes me think the chemicals are seeping into my food.... my weird problem, I know. It is fast food and its... "ehhhh"

Yummy food for under ten dollars. The Palak Paneer was good, Chicken Tikka Masala was okay, the chutney was good. Service was nice. I really like having the option to eat Indian without costing an arm and a leg.

  • Elder Z.

It's okay. Service is quick. They usually don't have very much variety, usually a chicken dish, a lamb or goat dish, tandori chicken, and a few vegetable dishes. Portions are generous though, and the price is right.. Being that Indian places in the area are few and far between, the fact that this one's in the village earns it some extra points.

Wasn't too fond of the place. It just had no flavor AT ALL. And it wasn't spicy. Indian food with no heat? I've been there twice now (I really have no idea why I went back the second time), but I asked for extra salad, and the guy totally didn't understand what I was saying, and he replied with "you need to bring in a coupon." That made absolutely no sense. I think he thought I wanted a discount? Ughhh, I just never went back after that. It needed salt, spicy, and more helpings of salad.

Odd spices for Indian food, over-cooked dishes, garlic nan without garlic equals a disaster! I have eaten Indian fast food before which wasn't terribly impressive but THIS was outstandingly poor! Hope I can forget this experience soon!

When I am in a fix for some good Indian food around the claremont local area this is the only place that comes to mind and it is worth it. Must get the chicken tika masala, paleek paneer (spinach), and garlic naan (bread) as well as a vegetable dish. Very reliable spot and good food! Yum!

  • Tim B.

Indian fast food. Quality can vary a lot ... it's best to go during busy times, so the food is fresher. Don't go at off hours, or you'll get mush which has been sitting there all day. But if you keep in mind that this is fast food, and you go at the right time, it can be pretty good. It changed owners around 2005 or so, and I haven't been as often lately, but it seemed to improve somewhat in variety and quality after the switch. But it continues to be pretty variable in quality. It's best to go when you're hungry and want to get the all-you-can-eat deal. It can be a bit too expensive if you do take-out, or just order one dish.

I swear that chicken tiki masala had velveta cheese in it! And I'm pretty sure their gulab was a doughnut hole. Altogether not the greatest. Garlic Nan is good though.

This is one of my local Indian spots so I come here a lot. I loove Indian food and eat it quite a bit, but have never had home-cooked or been to a ton of Indian restaurants. In other words I'm not an Indian Food snob. After saying that, I always enjoy eating here. The chicken tikka masala is delicious as well as there garlic naan. I also like the Veggie Korma and Palak Paneer. I guess one negative is the rice pudding, I have had better. The lunch buffet is well worth the money. If you order to go they seem to fill up the container more, that is if you do not stay for the lunch buffet.

  • Pam M.

For Indian fast food, this place is pretty good. I was greeted by a very kind and helpful lady behind the counter. I ordered chicken tikka and spinach. It was very delicious but a bit salty, the naan and rice helped bland out the saltiness.

  • Catalina V.

This is not the place for first-timers to Indian food. I was happy that there was an Indian restaurant in the area (they aren't too common here) and was looking forward to the all-you-can-eat buffet. Unfortunately, I didn't even want to try more after the first round. I ordered the chicken saag, chicken tikka masala, and chana masala. The garbanzos in the chana masala were too hard and the chicken wasn't very cleanly cut in the other dishes. But worst of all, all the dishes tasted the same and were all too sweet. The best thing about the meal was the naan and rice (But how can you go wrong there?) The decor isn't that important to me in a dining choice but it looked more like an Italian restaurant than an Indian one and could use a makeover for the location. Downtown Claremont is hip and modern. I probably will not go back to this Indian restaurant and will stick to my usual local spots: Diamond Palace, Curry Up, and Masala Bowl.

Not ideal for foodies but fast, cheap, clean and pretty tasty... a great alternative to a typical fast food joint. We stopped in twice for lunch during our recent visit. Naan is very fresh. Staff is friendly.

We love this place! The Chicken Tikka Masala is GREAT and the Veggie Korma is too! We also love the Garlic Naan - it is always fresh and hot. It is really relaxing to get the food and sit on the back patio by the pond. Try it - you will love it :)

We go here all the time - it's super cheap for a lot of food. For 8.50, two of us eat a 3-item and we're both full. Plus, the veggie korma is really good.
