I don't always listen to mariachi bands, but when I do; I come her in El Pescador Bar and Grill. Coming here is like a fiesta in my tummy. It is not very often when Mexican restaurant with a full bar that serves the right kinds of drinks. With a wide collections of cervesa's, you will be sure to say "quiro mas!!!". I have only been here during lunch hour and have successfully avoided the long line during weekends and dinner rush. Despite the fact that they offer many mixed cocktails, Mechilada (Modelo especial) is often what I yearn for. This cocktail is an acquired taste but, not a bad idea to give it a try in this place, especially they make it so well. This place has a great selection of lunch special, starting around $7.99 & +. I ordered the Chili Colorado and the portion is very substantial. The beans here are great, the beef is soft and tender and the guacamole compliments the dish nicely. They also offer great seafood selections in their appetizer menus such as, nachos, shrimp cocktails and oysters (vert fresh). They are very generous in filling up your salsa bowl and chips; so don't be shy to ask for more. Servers are always friendly, if you are overwhelmed with the menu. They are more than happy to make a suggestion. You can catch the mariachi band playing during the weekends and some days during lunch hours. This place is very clean, family friendly and offers friendly service.

Pros: -open late Cons: -SLOOOOOOOW service. It will take you about a day and a half to get water, drinks, chips/salsa, and tortillas. -Food isn't so tasty. -$12 for a watered-down Piña Colada? Really?

This place is dope. I come every so often for Mariscos y Micheladas and the service is always great. The Ostiones Presidenciales come complete with Ceviche de Camaron on top. Be prepared because the party begins once you set foot in the restaurant. Whether you like Banda or Mariachi you'll feel at home.

Delicious... great way of greeting their customers... 1st time here. it. I was dying to try this. I had enchiladas poblanas. Omg the more I dine out the more I'm satisfied, their Jamaica water was tasty. You should try.

MARTIN (manager) is always so AWESOME! He offers great customer service and reallly enjoys hearing what the customers have to say. Overall, i would only come back because of him.

I had never been here despite it being so close to my house. I was too sick and tired to cook so decided to spread my germs and venture out. It was Taco Tuesday, but only in the bar area. Not a place for kids at the bar so we got a booth and enjoyed the quietness. They have a good kids menu. Service was great. My pina colada was delicious. The molcajete was burn the hair off your scalp hot. It was too spicy to enjoy. If I ever ordered it again I would ask for it without the chili. I kind of like my long hair.

Never tried the food, but stopped by a few times for happy hour and/or late night drinks. Average-priced drinks, boring drafts, and shots are pricey at $8-12. End of the week there's karaoke, and the restaurant/bar tries becomes a psuedo-nightclub after 9pm. Very spacious venue. Just a note: - Taco Tuesday's: $0.99 cent tacos - Fri-Sun: Live Mariachi band Mon-Fri: 8am-1130pm Sat: 8am-1am Sun: 9am-10pm

We ate here on our way to an event at the Stub Hub Center and I would have to say I would definitely come back! Glad I ordered their "Cazuela" drink. It's a big drink and it was delicious! We ordered a shrimp cocktail and the Molcajete for 2! The shrimp cocktail was good, the shrimps were big but the molcajete was Delicious! The rice and beans that came with it weren't that good, I hardly even ate any. It was quite busy when we were there and their service was good and the place was clean. Wish we lived closer to this place to come back more often.

Hello I came in here hearing good stuff about another restaurant and thought this location was good. I order a Tierra y Mar and after one hours received my food cold and late. I am a little upset but I wouldn't come to this restaurant again. Did check about the ratings but seriously it's horrible

As always the service has won me over for the 4 stars. Martin was attentive and extremely polite. He took our orders in a reasonable time and we didn't wait too long to get our meal. I wasn't really that crazy about the food. It was decent, but nothing that would make me go back. I ordered the chile verde pork and the pork was a little hard to chew, the chile verde wasn't spicy at all either. The horchata was bomb though!

I was here for the first time on a Thursday night and I was greeted friendly and the waiter came often to check up on us. I got a michelada and a tostada de ceviche de pescado.

Went to watch tha Mayweathter vs Pacquiao match at this venue. Fight was great in the dining area, overcrowded in the bar area, not worth the $25. There was no raffle, which was advertised. After the fight, we couldn't even watch the interviews because they began to set up the mariachi. Food was ok, average. Drinks were too strong or dull, and beer choices were average. Service was horrible! The waitress did not get our order right and it took forever for our table to receive our food. Guests that had came after us were served faster. When it came to pay, we tried to fix our bill, because they charged us the wrong items. We talked to the manager, MONICA, but she was clueless and couldn't help us. So they brought in our waitress, JANETH LOPEZ. and she was just rude, unprofessional and uncooperative. She blamed us for her mistake. Overall, i was extremely dissatisfied. I will not be bringing in my business here. I do not recommend this location, there are far better choices in Carson.

Mediocre service with food to match.... We had a night in Carson on business and this was the only "sit down" restaurant near our hotel. But it's very close so we decided to give it a try. Very elaborate and what I am sure is a quite authentic menu - started out pretty good at least as far as the selection. Sure they have some traditional "TexMex" menu items but lots and lots of fish and shrimp (which I would expect, given the name of the restaurant means "the fisherman"). But the service was spotty and slow. We were seated with menus and chips/salsa, and then pretty much forgotten. Finally we ordered drinks and waited some more before at least getting water to go with the chips but the drinks still weren't ready as they had no glasses at the bar (??). The chips seemed stale and the salsa retty boring - tasted canned. I ordered the Garlic Grilled Fish "Filete al Mojo de Ajo" and Anne the shrimp dish "Camerones Cancun". They came fairly quickly but unfortunately were just bland. Much like "Cruise Ship food" - very little seasoning on much of anything. The shrimp were so lacking in any sort of flavor that we just left most of them - why waste the calories? Graciously, our server did bring some garlic butter but even that was "too little too late". They should have been properly seasoned in the pan - not 20 minutes later at the table. The grilled "mystery fish" I believe might be Tilapia - but the menu just called it "grilled fish" so not sure. Heavier than cod, lighter than rockfish... also bland to a tee. It did of course have garlic, yes. And not too much so that was good. As with the salsa, the rice tasted "store bought" - bland and pretty lifeless. Quantity of food was more than enough - all the "extras" we left most on the plates. But the lackluster service and bland food left El Pescador in the category that it's already rated - 2 stars, maybe a tad more but Yelp doesn't give us "tad ratings" 2 Yelp Stars Dave

Usually my experiences here are very good. Well today it was far from that. I was having a family gather around 18 people I called they said they didn't accept reservations so I got here an hour early to make sure we would get seated. At the front counter they said we had to make a reservation... What? We explained that we called and they said we didn't need one so they put our party down on the list. We waited in the bar area a waitress came and asked what time our party would be here we said 6:10 about 10 min later she comes out again at 6 and says our party has 10 min to get here since they give 10 min extra we said we expected our party to be here at 6:10 so we would have until 620 they said our table was ready 10 min ago . We asked for a manager and said no one told us our table has been ready she said she sent the waitress out to tell us yet all she asked was when our party would be here by this time is was already almost 610 . The manager basically said there was a miscommunication and hopefully our party would be here in 5 min a oh well to us. If I knew our table was ready when it was I could have called everyone to make sure they were on time. The manager Monica was no help at all. Very disappointed

Just had dinner. Spent over $71.00 for horrible food and sad service. My 6 year old could not eat her carne asada tacos as they had no taste & my 9 year olds quesadilla had crumbs from the griddle but no color on the tortilla. My husband had the carne ranchera plate & he meat was dry & tough. So disappointed & I don't understand why it's crowded. I had a mango margarita that didn't taste like anything & had big chunks of ice. Definitely we will NOT be back!

Came here for a coworker's goodbye lunch. The service was actually okay, but the food was not. I ordered a salmon salad and the salmon was very bland. Being that this is a Mexican restaurant, you would think that they would at least season their food. I had to doctor up my salmon with the various hot sauces that were on the table. Also, the salsa tasted horrible; it had a horrible aftertaste like it came from a can. The chips were definitely stale. And, at the end of the meal the waiter would not split our check. He said it would take a very long time to do, and that only the manager could do it. I never heard of such a thing. I honestly don't know how this place stays in business because nobody in our party was satisfied with their entrées.

I frequent this place for their happy hour deals. Service has always been great in the bar area. The drinks are strong & delicious plus their happy hour selection includes martinis, margaritas, beer, long islands, mojitos, adios mf, tokio teas & other mixed drinks for $5 each at a decent size. Happy hour also includes decently sized tacos for $1.50, huge plates of carne asada nachos for $5, quesadillas, etc. And it extends until 7 pm, Monday through Friday, which makes it the ideal after work spot. On my first visit, I wasn't impressed with "Mr. Burrito: half and half chile verde con chile colorado." It was just okay. But I have found other food items, such as the chorizo soft tacos & carne asada nachos, which are delicious. The atmosphere is always upbeat & fun with good music, including live mariachi on Friday nights.

The only reason I gave them 1 star is bacause I couldn't give a NEGATIVE star. SERVICE SUCKS! UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL NIGHT AND DON'T MIND RUDENESS. 30 mins you get drinks maybe chips, 40 min after that you get your food but don't forget to ask for utensils and that you'd like all of your food out at once or else half the table will finish before the rest begin. IF you're looking for a bar then give it a shot. Don't bring your family or you'll leave embarrassed for suggesting the spot. SAD! Ps I speak spanish so I understood the whole conversation behind the counter. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!

I thought this place was great. They offer a large selection of food. I got oysters and the shrimp cocktail and i was impressed by both. My friends ordered the hot wings and they were also very pleased with their food. Their drinks were also great. I did not experience the slow service others are complaining about, but I was there from 3-5 p.m. which i am sure are not the busiest hours.

Many of my friends have told me about the happy hour here so I decided to check it out for myself. When I sat down, the guy next to me said this was his favorite bar I'm Carson and I can see why. This bar was probably the nicest bar I've been to in carson and the prices were great during happy hour. Huge $5 margaritas and affordable sliders such as tacos and quesadillas from $1.25-$3.25. Everything was good and the drinks were stiff, except I didn't care for the chips and salsa much. It was bland and not spicy. My bartender Gus was very attentive and always made sure out drinks were full and we were attended to. However, when we tried to close the tab our card was misplaced. I don't think it was the bartenders fault because when we have it to him I watched him place it with the rest of the cards, he was right in front of me. I think that it possibly was knocked over the ledge and fell in the trash or something but it vanished!!! I wasn't too bothered, I can go into chase and have a card made tomorrow. The staff comped our meal and drinks and Gus personally apologized and asked us to give him another chance which I thought was nice and thoughtful. I'll be back for another drink at point for sure.

Good food, great margaritas. The bar area can get a bit loud, so if you're sitting in the dining area, be prepared.

El Pescador was real close to our hotel, so it became a semi-frequent stop for dinner/drinks. The Happy Hour specials are very decent, but the margaritas have been extremely weak/dull every time I visited. The food is good, but not excellent. Its a nice stop if you want decent Mexican food at a reasonable price.

Lots of negative reviews for this place and I think I know why--it's usually busy, and depending on the staff on hand, that can affect everything from food quality to service. That being said, I haven't had a bad experience yet. I've come for dinner several times and I've been for the Sunday Brunch Buffet many, many times. I've also come by and left because the line was out the door or the wait time given to me was more than half an hour. As a Carson local, this is never a big deal for me, but travelers: consider yourself warned. On to the meaty details: -Sunday Brunch is the best route. For around $17 a person, you get AYCE plus choice of a margarita or 3 mimosas. After you've been seated (choosing the bar area is much faster--dining area is always a long wait), you serve yourself! The taco bar and sopa de mariscos might be the highest quality items in the buffet, but there are also enchiladas, plentiful pork dishes and some chicken. There's also a kiddie section with hot dogs, french fries, chicken nuggets and similar fare. The desserts can be a mixed bag--lots of options, like various cheesecakes, cookies, sweet breads, sliced fruits, etc--and these seem to go quick without many (if any) refills. When comparing this brunch buffet to everything else in the area, 4 stars comes to mind, for value, food quality, ambiance (talented live mariachi band in the dining room, and lots of televisions for sports-viewing in the bar) and the complementary drinks! Negative points for always being busy, and as a result, service occasionally getting spotty. Also, it's jam-packed, so you're wading through seas of people. -Dinner is solid. Some dishes are definitely expensive but you can find a filling meal for a little over $10. A comparable food comparison would be La Capilla in Old Torrance. Because of slow service, I'd give this 3 stars.

The food is so Bland... Carne Asada is absolutely tasteless! The salsa is watery and has strong tomato sauce flavor... Not cool! THE BAR is Amazing the bartenders are heavy on the liquor. Get the Sangria if Jesse is there....whoa baby these are perfectly synced and will put you up real nice!! Will go for the bar, but will eat prior

Pretty great restaurant! I came here out of the spur in the moment with my little brother, we looked it up on yelp and it didn't have very great reviews but I'm glad we came here. Service was fast friendly and great! We were waited almost instantly we got seated and ordered as soon as we say down I surprised to see how cheap the margaritas were and was super happy about the price! The margaritas were like $4 each and tasted really good. Although.... The food I got wasn't the BEST food. This is the only reason I gave it 4 out 5. I got the enchiladas. The enchiladas were normal but the flavor wasn't the best, will I get it again??? Yes I would :) I do recommend this place and specially because the price of the drinks.

This review is on my dish and drink. I ordered a chile relleno and a guayaba margarita. The chile relleno takes 4.5/10 with all points towards the chile and zero points towards the rest of the dish. I'm super picky with Mexican food. So, I'll say this, the rice and beans lacked flavor and a good cook. The chile relleno's sauce had a tomato-soup-like flavor. Overall, a semi-decent lunch. The guayaba margarita was a 7/10.

COCKROACH!!! I got the mar y Tierra plate the day of my graduation and there was a tiny cockroach on the shrimp. I asked for another plate because I had a cockroach, they brought me another plate. At the end of the meal my parents went to pay and got no "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" no discount nothing. Horrible wouldn't recommend unless you want to take the chance to get a cockroach on your food.

I've been to this place several times. Never disappoints. This is the one place I can get a coctel de Camaron without tomato. This place not only has seafood but Mexican food. It's a little crowded on the weekends but it's worth the wait. I'm reading all the negative reviews but I've had nothing but positive experiences here.

Not happy with server who was up selling their drinks. Ask for water with a cucumber and she offers their cucumber with eater and charges $3.00 without telling us. Then when we tell her that we didn't know about the charge she said sorry and doesn't do anything about it.

Bad service, expensive for mediocre food. I had to take my plate to the back to tell them to cook the raw tortilla for my enchilada. And then when I asked for the bill and the waitress just dropped off the the bill and said nothing. The entire time I was there did the waitress ask us anything, very inattentive. The only thing that I give them credit for is the jaimaca diablo.

Worst Mexican restaurant I've been too. Its doesn't bod well when they don't even have a edible salsa. We can't even call it salsa, just warm tomato juice no bueno. Ordered steak fajitas, wasn't even sizzling just lukewarm and the tortilla tasted microwaved. Will never go here again. service was okay

I have gone to this place several times. It gets super packed on the weekends especially on a Sunday because they have like a buffet deal with a margarita or a drink, something like that. Advice:don't wait in lie to be seated in the main room just walk in and sit your butt down at the bar area. It's so much faster, you order and you don't have to wait in line. Or if you want to wait in line since sometimes they have entertainment in the main room like trio singing, or mariachi then just go to the bar and order a drink and wait in line. Yes! You are allowed to do that even if you are not sitting down at the bar. The food it's pricey, but it's good, regular food it's ok though. The drinks are phenomenal!! Especially their cantarito drinks:) heaven! The staff is pretty nice as well, classy place.

I came here during lunch and service was good. I read other reviews and I guess it's busier at dinnertime and they don't exactly staff well. When I walked in this place it reminded me of this place I went to in Rosarito. I got the mole enchiladas and it was very good. My client who recommended the place got oysters with ceviche on them and a bowl of soup (hot cold combination). I would come back here if I were in the area, but definitely before dinner hour rush. The drinks looked awesome!

I came here for my cousin's birthday. Food was not bad but not worth the price. Service was ok although a server that was walking pushed my cousin because she seemed to be in a hurry. Didn't even say sorry. We had a nice server but he brought our drinks after we finished our food. The band that was playing played good so at least that was nice. Got food poisoning

I've been here a few times. This time i went to have lunch with a friend. We decided to sit at the bar since it was just the two of us. Our waitress Janeth was attentive right away. She placed our drink order and brought us chips and salsa while we waited. The salsa was extremely watery and bland. Taste like canned tomato soup. Our drinks arrived. I ordered the Escalade Margarita, my friend ordered a Mojito. Both were phenomenal. Great taste. We proceeded to place our food order. I always get a Large shrimp cocktail. I was extremely disappointed. The schooner they serve this in was not filled all the way. All it had was shrimp and cucumber. No tomatoes, cilantro, or onions which is standard for a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were frozen shrimp, definitely not fresh. I asked for it cold and it was warm. A complete disaster. My friend ordered shrimp ceviche and it wasn't any better. It use to be really good. It tasted extremely sour. Like they used either bottled lemon juice or something to that extend. We were so disappointed because we know what the quality of food use to be like, and to experience this cutting corners nonsense is all bad. Yes, either they changed cooks, or they are definitely cutting corners to make an easy buck. I love this place. The environment, the drinks and the service is good. Please go back to putting love and care into your food. Nothing worse than claiming to be an authentic Mexican food restaurant and turning into another El Torito.(FAKE) Thank you Janeth for making our experience enjoyable. She was on point at all times. As soon as our glasses were empty she would offer another. When our food arrived she checked on us a few times. El Pescador Management team i would like for you to realize that the service was the only reason we stayed and spent over $100 that day. Unfortunately it's not a good enough reason to come back consistently. Hope you take this constructive criticism seriously and take a step back. I will give it another shot in the near future.

I don't even know what to say except HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. They treated us so poorly. Walked in with 4 girls and 4 guys... They let us girls in but wanted to pat down all the guys... SOME SECURITY!!! They let us walk in the front door, then escorted us out the back door to re-enter thru the back door, where they harassed us because one of the guys had an LA DODGER hat on!! We were a little confused, but after being insulted by the brawn at the door, we decided we DO NOT want to be at a place where they feel they have to pat down their customers!!! GHETTO place!!!! Don't go!!!!!

Very disappointed with this restaurant! I grew up with the Pescador chains of restaurants and the truth is that habanero fish I ordered sucked! Dry and no taste and believe it or not it was raw. The service was good, but too many employes joking around and not a good place to eat and enjoy!overall the food including chips were tasteless!!!!

Cadillac margarita is all sour. The chips are bland. The salsa is bland. The place is too cold. They love to cover everything in red sauce. Asked what was on the nachos bc im allergic to tomatoes. He names everything but tomatoes so when my food comes out guess what? It's covered in tomatoes. Smh I would not recommend this place.

I have to be in the neighborhood a couple of times a month so I thought it would be nice to stop in a place with booths and hopefully good food. A couple of weeks ago a friend asked for a vegetarian fajita (there's nothing without meat or fish in the menu) and it was great! Piled high with mushrooms, bell peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. The following week we went back again and asked for the same thing. This fajita was a joke. It was a massive mound of onions, maybe three slices of bell pepper, and some more onions. And they charged us for the same price as if it had meat. This was rude and totally unappetizing. On top of it the onions weren't grilled well, they were soggy and limp. This shows how much the wait and kitchen staff truly do not care. Not one bit.

Food was decent and atmosphere was good but service was terrible. I didn't get my food until 25min of waiting while everyone else in my party got their food within 10min Once they brought my plate of Mar y Tierra they forgot my tortillas and drink, the drink and tortillas finally came after I asked 2 differnt waiters but I finished nearly all my food by the time I got them (tortillas and drink arrived separately within 10 min of each other. My advice to this place is train your servers better and really work on the service.

    1. Went here for lunch with a large group and got an awesome deal on a lunch plate. $6.95 for pork carnitas and $3.99 for delicious peach sangria in a large glass. 2. The tortilla chips came fresh and warm and the salsa was superb. 3. The location is clean all around, especially the women's bathroom which is a plus. 4. Only problem we had was that it was very difficult to split the check for my large party... because they don't split checks. It was a confusing and unnecessary ordeal to figure out and one of my friends ended up paying for the whole bill because the restaurant also wouldn't accept extra cards or something to that affect. 5. The food was decent but I would not go back if I'm with a large group.

When this place was built, I was super exited because my entire family loves mexican food and good restaurants in this area are few and far between!! I wasn't that impressed because this is not the typical mexican food we like. I like that it is seafood based since I am a pescatarian. However, I don't think this is the type of Mexican restaurant that we needed in this area. Food is just okay. It's pricey along with the drinks. Chips and salsa aren't bad either. This place does get crowded in the bar because people hang out in the bar to watch sports. There is also karaoke and a live mariachi band on some nights. That also means parking in the small shopping complex is terrible!!! Not only that, this place was clearly built to service people coming from soccer games at the Stub Hub Center. Whomever agreed to build it at this location couldn't care less about servicing the people who live in the surrounding community!!!

The salsa is a BIG disappointment....tastes like gazpacho out of a can , I do hope they improve on this first impression because the rest of the food is fabulous as well as the service . I stick to the fresh seafood and seafood soups. The rest of the food is just so so. I may be back just holding my nose at the salsa. Skip the desserts... Tasteless tres leches cakes . Von's does a better job.

Never had such a BAD service anywhere like here!!!! DO NOT RECOMEND AT ALL!!!! I ordered a shrimp cocktail and got a liquid soup with 4 shrims! When I told the server he said that's how it comes, then my husband talked to the manager and he said that's the way it goes. I was charged with 17$ for each cocktail, ridiculous!!!!! So for talking to manager about my concern he ask security to be watching us for any aggressions. What the hek is wrong with these people!!!'

Went for taco Tuesday and happy hour. The website doesn't match the menu. Hours and prices are different. The music is so loud that everybody is screaming over each other just to talk. It seemed like there was only one waiter serving the whole bar. It was nice to get up and get your own tacos and not have to wait for the one waiter to make his way to you. But the food and the drinks had no flavor. I will not be going back and will not recommend this place to any of my friends or family.

This place has gotten worse. I went on a Saturday & the waiter was very slow. We kept ordering drinks & we had to keep reminding him about them. And not to mention our bill was $208, so we decided to split it three ways. We literally made it so easy for him & he still messed up. Some how my friend paid $60 cash but then I was charged once for $70 then again for $80, my friend was charged $89 then $128!!! Ridiculous just ridiculous. Like how do they mess up that bad when they have a computer to do the math for them ? Oh, and when I called to speak to a manger (twice) they told me they were in a meeting. They took my name and number and said they will give me a call back... Still waiting

" Well I must say I was disappointed waited about 10 mins for the waiter he ended being nice but we had no silverware the food first came very cold and on a steaming skillet had to send it back 3x by than my rice and beans were cold the taste was ok but over priced and the service was not what we expected. Had high hopes On having a great lunch but left frustrated and disappointed I don't think I would go back at least not in a long time. Place sucks in general maybe next time I'll just try the bar."

Friday thru Sunday mariachi nights are awesome. Let's not forget the brunch on weekends and trio style live music. Great spot for a beer or margaritas. Very family oriented as well. Heavy security, no worries about people getting out off hand and trying to start fights .

My friends loved this place. Went to the area for my birthday and this place couldn't keep us away!! Even though they had a hard time getting orders correct, they were extremely patient and accommodating. Now whenever we are about to have an epic night we hashtag #elpescador !!!! Love it.

Service: We found seats in the bar area, but couldn't get anyone to clean our table for about 15-20 minutes. We finally sat down, but our waiter didn't stop by to take our order for 50 minutes. I'm not exaggerating. We didn't get water. We didn't get settings. Nothing. Finally, after complaining politely, they came to take our order. Food: I usually order the 4 mares, which has consistently been good. This time, I ordered the tostada mixta and a fish taco. The mixed seafood that came with the tostada was flavorless and dry. The fish taco also lacked flavor and was soggy. My rant: As a former waitress, I cannot imagine ever treating customers the way they treated us. When we were sat, we should've been given settings and our drink order should've been taken right away. If the waiter was busy, he should've been clear about that and let us know when he'd be back. Instead, he disappeared, and whenever we tried to flag down another waiter, they'd ignore us completely, even when it was clear that they could hear us. They brought us nachos on the house to make up for the lousy service, but the nachos were cold and the service didn't change. We had to ask repeatedly for refills on our drinks. I needed limes for my dry seafood mix, but since he waiter was absent, I had to wait another 15 minutes before I could eat. Worse thing: we were trapped in this horrible place for 2 hours. Avoid this place. Even though it's packed all the time, there's no good reason for it.

Hello, This is one of my favorite. Sometimes I go there after school. I enjoy eating there since I get there. Chips and salsa are good to start. I have liked everything I have eaten there, specially the Tostada Reina. Customer service is excellent. The owner of the place likes to have conversations with customers. He is very charismatic. It is a great experience to eat there!

Bad first impression. We sat down in the bar and proceeded to wait for 10 minutes for someone to come over. The waitress finally came and said I'll bring you menu's. She promptly disappeared and we waited 15 minutes and she finally came back and took our order. Oh and we had to request our table be wiped down and she wiped it with the dirty napkin that was already there. We asked for a towel wipe down. Tgen oyr order was taken. From that point we waited 43 minutes! The drinks took 10 more minutes. If that wasn't bad enuff, the salsa was watery and no one came to check on us as we waited for our dinner. But for some strange reason the four tables near us who came after us got their drinks in 5 minutes and food in 13-15 minutes ( I kept looking at my watch). When our food came my husband's potatoes were ice cold and my burrito was luke warm inside. I informed the manager that it would have helped if someone had at least checked on us. He apologized but we still have our doubts. The mariachi music was good though...loud enuff to be heard in the bar. Overall poor experience.

Worst service ever!!! Over chArged my bill $40 waiter took forever just to take my order 40 mins later my food comes and it was cold. The drinks were watered down and there was no alcohol. Would not recommend this place to anybody!

I love the ceviche and margaritas here and that's why they get 4 stars! I tend to go during happy hour because it seems to get really crowded at night and it's not exactly my scene. The bartenders are always great, but the servers are a different story. You never know what kind of service your going to get.

I was in the area and was craving Mexican / seafood so decided to give this place a try. It was the biggest mistake I could have done! To begin with, we asked to see the menu while we waited to be seated. once seated the waitress asked for my menu and replaced it with one that said SHOW something in the front and prices were like $5 higher for each entree from the regular menu. Guess what?? we saw no show. When we inquired on the show, we were told theu would set up in a bit. Then they said the show doesn't start until 5:30, if that's the case then why were we given the overpriced menu?! Anyhow, food looked great in the menu, so I still wanted to try the food. BIG MISTAKE, I should have left when I had the chance. Chips and salsa were no good and the food was bland. I seriously don't understand how they have so many customers. Save yourself the money, disappointment, and hit the Del Taco across the street instead

Good food, good ambiance, multiple TV's, slow poor service. Our order came out wrong which had to be sent back to the kitchen, ordered an appetizer prior to our meal which came after we were done with the meal. Food taste really good, but the service kills it.

The bar menu is awesome during lunch! The nachos and tacos are really good here. They always serve chips and salsa and it's endless. A really great place to eat, have a few beers and unwind. It gets pretty loud when sports are on.

This is for the bar itself- did not try the food at all. Went here in the evening for a get together for a girlfriends bday bash! Tons of cars in the lot- even know we arrived pretty late about 11:45pm. Had to park wayyyyyyy down by another business in the plaza. They check ID at the door so make sure you have them ready. DJ is set up right in the front- then you head to the right for the bar/lounge dance area as you would say. Bar set up is pretty kool- good amount of tables and chairs. Good amount of people. I seen a few couples, single ladies and guys too. Kinda crowed to move around in to get a drink or even get to the restroom. On the other side is the restaurant and room- which the others side is really big and as I walked on that side I was pretty surprised. Restrooms where big but tons of napkins everywhere. Someone really needed to pick up in there. I would hate to see what the men's looks like ewwwww Security was nice- they have them at all doors and by the restrooms too. Plus a few by the bar just in case any one tries and gets crazy. Bartenders were koo- drinks were okay- kinda pricey $20 for to mixed drinks. So overall this place was okay- Wish is was set up a little different. Only because in order to get to the restroom or even get out you have to walk threw all these people on the little ass dance floor. And I don't wanna be grabbed by someone or anything like that cause I know a few people tired. They played some pretty good music. Last song was played at 1:30am and last drink served at 1:10am or so. Will go again to try there food out and maybe happy hour too! Oh yeah and in order to reserve tables you have to be there at 7pm. So a few girlfriends had to hang out for hours in order to save 2 tables. Which everyone else did not get there until about 9pm. So that kinda sucked.

Ive always said El Pescador is my favorite restaurant from all the time but this past sunday i went and the service was terrible first they served me a hot coke like seriously who does that the waitress should of told us before. Then she said her excuse was because they had ran out of ice, then one hour of waitting for he food and it wasnt all that great. Therefor this is my last time i will go to this place.

This place has got to be the worst place I've ever been to I waited over 30 minutes just to get a menu and I never did get them and all they gave me was a happy hour menu then when I did get the chips they were some stale old nasty rotten horrible chips don't go to this place of avoid it all cost I rather go to Del Taco across the street

I really want to give one star for this place. I'm giving it two because the quality is there but quantity is where it suffers. The reason I started going to this place is because it is so close to work. The lunch specials are inexpensive and you can choose from a wide variety of flavorful dishes. However, the last two times I visited the place the Chicken Enchilada that I ordered had 4 small pieces of shredded chicken inside. This wasn't the case when the place first opened. The free chips and salsa are nice and fresh. They will give you more chips regardless if you ask or not which is a plus. But if they don't start putting more meat into their Enchiladas, then I won't be back any time soon.

The worst service I have ever received! I can't believe any manager would be accepting of such low quality customer service from their employees.. Went around 4 o'clock today September 25th and sat in the bar area . Our friends had been there for about 10 minutes already, the server came around and asked us what we wanted to drink . When she came to drop off our drinks we were ready to order ( our friends were on their break) but she set then down and left without asking if we were ready . It was pretty busy so we decided to be patient but we saw that she was just walking around avoiding our table ,even after we kept trying to make eye contact .. She was waiting around the bar for her drinks to be ready while she could of been taking our order. When she finally came over to our table we told her we had been waiting and instead of offering an apology she said ok and left to get the check for the two drinks my friends had ordered. Para este tipo de servicio mejor tacos en mi Casa.

Well how do I start? Parking...it's packed and sometimes hard to find but if you don't mind parking towards the back of the lot you will be okay. Waiting to be seated: yes you will wait especially on a Sunday. Finally the food: oh man...oh man...the chips & salsa...chips are okay- they can't really mess those up! Salsa- I've had better! Not that great. Finally the food: the food is not that bad- it's a bit pricey for what you get- actually it is pricey- not worth it. The ambiance may be the only thing worth coming here for during their Mariachi hour. The show is good- I believe that the prices go up during this time- I refuse to believe that a tostada de ceviche is over $10 and a kids apple juice is $4...now the customer service is mediocre- we were seated for about 15 mina before anyone came to our table...then we order- food took forever- and to top it off he forgot our utensils! I think this place is awesome for the bar and the ambiance but for a dinner type of event forget it. Not worth it. I much rather make the drive to the other El Pescadors.

The day of the US vs Mexico game there was a big crowd. Service suffered a bit, it was a little erratic but atmosphere was great. Chips with a nice, spicy salsa and then fish tacos. Good, not exceptional but very good value.

A decent place to sit down and enjoy lunch. Their seafood is actually pretty decent. I had the Salmon Cancun and tried some of my co-workers plates. Out of anything there, I would recommend getting the seafood cocktail. Their horchata is actually pretty good as well.

Despite the bad reviews I saw on here, my experience was great! Went here just yesterday for the first time with friends and co-workers for their Happy Hour which is 3pm -7pm Tues through Fri and ALL DAY happy hour on Mondays! There was about 10 of us total and when we arrived the large tables were already taken. Luckily we only waited a few minutes and was able to get two booths next to each other and HH is only available in the bar & seating area. Cool atmosphere, TV's everywhere and music playing. Good selection on drink and food specials. I ordered 3 martinis and 2 hard shell tacos, came out to about $20 with tip. I also tried their Vuelve a la Vida, Consome Presidencial and Michelada, sooooo goood!!! I cant wait to come back!

The food here... Delicious. The service... Awful. I mean really awful. I've gone here when its been packed and I've been here when its been empty. I've sat at the bar and at the dining area and it's all the same awful service. If this place had at least decent service I would give this place a 4/5 star. Unfortunately this place suffers from some of the worse service I've ever received at a restaurant. It never fails, my friends and I even joke about it at this point and i would come here much more if the service was up to par.

Sad. Just sad. The food did not live up to the name of this establishment. I ordered a shrimp cocktail, and what I got instead was shrimp swimming in sugary ketchup sauce. It was disgusting. No amount of lime, salt, and Tapatio could resuscitate those shrimp. I had to ask for more lemon and even then that didn't solve the problem. In an attempt to cheer me up for the poor excuse of a shrimp cocktail--I ordered the flan. Another HUGE disappointment. It was eggy. The food here is just too Anglo for this Chicana. The server was nice but he was clearly busy. Next time--IF there ever is a next time, I will limit my patronage to the bar. Hopefully they won't mess up alcohol. Then again....

It's a convenient place to have drinks before heading to the HDC to watch some soccer but that's pretty much it. My friends and I ordered carne asado tacos, a chorizo taco, the chicken enchilada, and the shrimp enchiladas. They were all blah and bland. We all can say we had much better authentic mexican food.

Went to the Sunday Brunch and was very satisfied with the selection and quality of the spread. A broad selection of dishes were offered including the taco bar which had some spicy salsas to make it even more perfect. It was a very busy place but the servers and bartender took the time to be attentive and check in frequently. I was surprised reading other reviews as the staff were hustling and looking for ways to be of service. If you had a bad experience, go back again and give them another try.

Three strikes, YOU'RE OUT! Me and my coworker-homies, we always got a craving for Mexican food. One of them recommended this place, he loves coming here at night to catch games and drink micheladas. The first time, like a honeymoon, was perfect. Our waitress was nice and super fast! Everything tasted great, the fresh guacamole, the tender asada steak, the warm tortillas. It was busy, but nothing crazy. Our second time, it was mad hectic inside! Our server was on the forgetful side and hard to catch. Once again our food came out quickly, although I wasn't too happy with the fish tacos I got. It was the service that was slow and painful. The waiter even gave us incorrect change. We chalked it up to a busy day. The third and last time, we got seated in the back due to it being super busy. Our waitress was impatient and it was hard to hear anything over the noise of the restaurant. One of our orders was mixed up but we had no chance to ask the waitress. She dropped off the food and never came back! We asked them to expedite our order since we were on our lunch break, but that didn't seem to help. We still had to wait 5 minutes to pay our bill. Really piss poor customer service this time around. I won't be coming back, their food isn't good enough to overlook the bad service.

First when me and my family got there ( 6 people total ), they took our cell phone number so they could call us when our table was ready ( they said 30-35 min ). At the 45 min mark, we asked how much longer, and comes to find out they were just yelling our name and put our phone number next to a different name. When we were finally seated, the server ( who never told us her name and didn't have a name badge ) took our drink order and spent another 25 minutes getting that. All we had was water, 2 cokes and 4 horchatas. I ordered the salmon Cajun which I have no clue why it was called that. It was overcooked and bland. My veggies looked like they were thrown on at the last minute, and the rice was raw. Like it got stuck in my teeth raw. And the " potato salad " is one small ice cream scoop. When we finally got our bill, she never asked if we needed change, she just assumed it was her tip. Oh and they sat us in the room that the band was in so we couldn't talk to each other because we couldn't hear. This was my first time here and it will definitely be my last!!!!!

I'm only reviewing this place because I tried for 3-4 DAYS to get just a simple quote on a half tray of both beans and rice for my work's Christmas Exchange party. Not only were they not helpful but they sounded like they didn't know what they were doing. They kept telling me I had to contact someone else but they still were not being helpful... They even asked for my name and number and I NEVER got a call back. I eventually just ordered somewhere else but it shouldn't even be a big deal. I havent tried their food, so I might review sometime later if I ever go there. But for the mean time, no thanks.

I give this place 2 stars because the food was equivalent to a frozen dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful I have to admit, you would think the food they serve there would be authentic and tasty. WRONG!!! I ordered the shrimp and octopus cocktail...it was warm and the shrimp was kinda sour. Definitely not fresh, I've had the shrimp cocktail there before and it just wasn't the same this time. My boyfriend ordered the meat and red sauce with beans and rice and he was so disappointed lol the red sauce wasn't only cold but it tasted literally like Campbells cream of tomato soup. The beans were so bland and the spanish rice had no flavor. Definitely not homemade and nothing close to authentic. the weirdest food we tasted was the mashed potatoes that we ordered for our son. We should have known better than to order mashed potatoes from a "Mexican restaurant" but our baby is still on mashed foods. (We had no choice) these potatoes were sour like lemon or sour milk..maybe a mixture of these two.. mixed in the papas was swiss cheese that made them taste even more bitter lol our son gave us the stinkiest face after letting him try them. We sent the potatoes back..the waitress was really nice about it. Overall we spend $55 on gross food...we expected much more from this restaurant. I guess it's really only good for the drinks, Mariscos and the club at night! Never eating here again..Booooo!

Went there Monday with a few friends for the first time. Monday is apparently happy hour all day so we just sat there, ordered drinks and food off both the hh and regular menus. Food and drinks are not bad but given how empty the place was service was super slow...

Awesome margaritas. That's really all that I can say that's positive about this place. Minus one star for being understaffed and another star for being so ridiculously loud and having such rough looking clientele. Minus one more star for serving corn tortillas that were hard as a rock. Seriously, how does one screw up tortillas?! ... minus another star because they added an extra dollar to the tip. This was a business expense and when I checked my receipt, sure enough they charged my corporate card an extra dollar. I won't be coming back to this place. I'd rather eat at the taco bar across the way.

My recommendation is not come to this place if you are not Latino. The last two times, my service was "negligent". The only time I got my server's attention was on one of his trips to service other tables. Atmosphere is good, food is great, but Hugo's service, in the bar, to me was deplorable. He smiled with other tables and ignored me and my friend (2 Black women). He never checked to see if we needed anything, and he looked disgusted when he had to take our order. The manager kindly listened to our complaints and said that she would talk with him.

Mainly a pre-game happy hour spot. Decent bar fare to go along with a couple beers, margaritas, micheladas or whatever one's poison may be. Occasionally there is a live band in the bar area and it is loud, which pretty much makes any sort of discernable conversation impossible.

terrible Service, i ordered apetizers the waiter said that it there was a of of people and we needed to wait. We were in no rush so we were fine with it, as soon as the appetizers came the waiter asked if we were ready to order I asked him that if we should wait to order because we had a lot of food on the table he said that we should order again because they were full, so we did, there was a mariachi show that it would start in about an hour, the prices are higher and I understand that, they showed up almost right after the appetizer came with all the food, we didn't have space for it and they left it on the trays getting cold next to the table, pretty much we chock the appetizers and nobody available to get us our food, my wife had to get up and reach for our food, the meat over cooked, and everything to the border of being too cold to eat...no management came to address the situation and the waiter simple said it wasn't his fault, I will never recommend this establishment to anyone, BAD BAD SERVICE

What do I have to do to get water with my meal?!? I wish the bad service was the worst part of the meal, but you know what, I am taking responsibility for not walking out when I had the chance. I'm saving my reviews for restaurants that actually have a chance of providing a good experience to their customers. Good luck and go with God if you're considering this place. Oh, BTW if mgmt is reading this, here's a quick tip. Brunch: A meal typically eaten late in the morning as a combination of a late breakfast and an early lunch. One mimosa and empty buffet trays does NOT make it a brunch. Two stars because they did supply me with napkins. =(

  • Linda R.

My family and I went here today for a mother's day brunch and never again will I step foot in there. First of all, I don't think they understood what the meaning of brunch was. There was no breakfast options...only lunch. There was no flow in the way the food was set up. It looked like the buffet food was set up wherever there was space. There wasn't a lot of authentic Mexican food..unless fries and hot dogs counts. Most of the food trays were empty half the time and were not being refilled quickly. The selection of food was lacking. I honestly had trouble filling my plate. Nothing looked appetizing! On a brighter note, the ceviche was decent and chicken enchiladas were good. But that's all I found! Paid $16 for a $4.99 selection! The wait was over an hour long but I didn't expect any less being that it was a holiday. Service was horrible. It felt like we kept ordering drinks but didn't get them until we had finished eating. The booth seat was not even clean! The women's bathroom was not clean and no toilet paper had been stocked. I think there are much better restaurants in the South bay. Save your money!

LOOK AT YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE LEAVING.. Mariachi was awesome..Never seen a HARP in a mariachi, but it was awesome..The FOOD was EGH...The Drinks were weak...OVER ALL the atmosphere was CHILL...So, about the receipt issue. It was Five of us and our bill came out to be more than $250.00...The waiter charged us more than $30 on Gratuity. I called the manager to verify the policy on the Gratuity charge. Apparently it was suppose to be charged f I had 8 people or more. I wouldn't have mind, but I also gave him a $20 atop of the Gratuity charge.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!! I've been to this place before for happy hour. They have really good tacos. I was on my lunch break and craving tacos so I decided to go here. It's only 2 mins away from my job.Sounds like a great idea right..NO WRONG. When I walked in it was super crazy! I sat at the bar. The THREE yes I said THREE bartenders said hello and that was the extent of our conversation my entire visit. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes before I was offered chips and salsa. 15 minutes!!!!! That is RIDICULOUS! Yes I'm still waiting for a menu just in case you were wondering. The female bartender asks me if I ordered a margarita. Ummm obviously not how can i order a margarita if I don't have a menu in front of me...COME ON NOW lets get real here.. I took the opportunity to order my lemonade. That came right away which was shocking. Still no menu no nothing. Keep in mind i'm on my lunch break. I have a short period of time. A gentleman walks in sits at the end of the bar and instantly got service and a menu. Two bartenders were talking and laughing with him. while I'm still waiting for service and a menu smh. I finally got fed up asked for my check and walked out. When i asked for my check bartender seemed a little taken back. Umm hello i've been waiting for 30 mins don't look so shocked. I paid my 3$ tab and walked out! I have NEVER been treated so poorly. I will most definitely not be back!!!! This place is a JOKE!!!

Came for Mothers Day, we thought we'd try out the Margarita Brunch. The wait was an hour, which was expected due to the holiday. The brunch hours are from 10-2, we got there at noon. We were seated within 45mins. The food selection was nothing special, not to mention most of what they had was gone. The had tacos, menudo, mole, rice, beans, maybe 3 other carnes en Chile. It was pretty terrible. The $15.99 I spent there was a total waste. The brunch came with only one (1) margarita...or you can have the three (3) mimosas...that was the drink limit. We had the mimosas...or I should say OJ. Save yourself the time and money...so somewhere else for brunch... Otherwise, the place is clean, host and bartenders are nice. Thy have a good regular menu and a decent happy hour.

I've been coming here for a couple of years now due to the proximity to home. Food is decent, service is a bit weak, but they have good drinks and soccer games on TV. However last Saturday I had the worse experience ever. My brother came in from out of town so I decided to take him there for dinner (bad mistake). There was long line to get in, but when we got to the door there was a bounce asking for ID. My brother recently went through many session of chemotherapy. Therefore his hair has fallen out and he lost a lot of weight. The bouncer refused to let him in because he was bald and they had a policy of not allowing bald headed men in as they could be gang related...WTF!?!?!? When I told him that he was sick and that his hair had fallen out due to this the bouncer said, "Well he doesn't look like the picture on his ID." BTW my brother is in his 50s. What a shame of a place, I'll never return to this place of a joke.

We waited an hour and a half for a table on fathers day. Not that we were bothered by the wait as we sat at the bar once seats were available. The beer was delicious, but honestly, you cant screw up dos equis. For as many hispanic families and patrons that were here, I expected the food to be incredible and authentic. It wasn't anything worth remembering. Probably won't be back, only because we live in orange country and are only here for the LA Galaxy Game.

Ugh. Awful parking, mediocre food (at best), RIDICULOUS wait. METHINKS NOT! I went on a Friday night to have dinner and watch the mariachis they have playing. We got there at about 6, and there was NO parking in the lot, the cars were like vultures just circling the lot waiting for some helpless patron to return to their car and leave, so they could swoop and take the spot....and if they took out a car or pedestrian with them, well it was just an expected casualty. When we finally parked further up on the street, we went in and they told us wait was 30-40 minutes. We got some beer, and waited in some awkward spot, since the bar was packed! And packed with hoodrats it was!!! Good god, it was like... they still MAKE YOU??? Girls in their swapmeet best, like they were going to a club, or to turn tricks on the street. Yikes. When they finally seated us, AN HOUR LATER, we heard one song and then the mariachi went on a break...we saw them eating later at Fat Burger...it really says a lot when the Mariachi you book rather eat somewhere else other than your restaurant. Only decent thing was our waitress was fast and nice.

Horrible horrible place. When we arrived they told us to put our name down on the list and we did. They even suggested for us get some drinks at the bar while we waited. I thought it was a good idea. One hour later, we are still waiting for our names to be called. The host had three lists with names and he sat some of his friends before the people on the list. Finally, at one hour and twenty minutes after our arrival, we are taken to our seats. Well, we were asked to move once we sat down because the manager had decided to give our seats to a party next to our table. We didn't even get an I'm sorry, we will give you a discount... nothing. To top it off, we were later seated in the laudest area of the restaurant. This has been by far the worst restaurant experience I ever had. Too bad Yelp doesn't allow -5 star reviews.

I honestly don't know why people pack this place. I reluctantly went to this place again after my soccer tournament with my teammates. there must've been 50-60 people in the bar eating area and there was only ONE waitress! Really bad staffing at this place. It took ages to get my order in and the wet chicken burrito was dry. how the hell is that possible? Man this place sucks. Can I give this place -5 stars? argh.

IS THERE MINUS 50 STARS...I AM A STRAIGHT UP PAISA ..... I confirmed this place SUCKS ASS..It's only good for a few drinks..Went on a friday for a office dinner..the waiter was real good/attentive but when food came it was cold someone else's order wrong ..i heard the food sucks from someone else but I confirmed It... So why do people go maybe there white wash then the prices are ridiculous.. i rather drive to Los Compadres... Chamizal or a new spot Los Paisas the only difference is the mariachi which are a bit too loud also ...if you want a real mariachi show drive to Guadalajara Grill.. My take on El Pescador.. Only good for drinks The food sucks Overprice.. Also they ran my credit card for the wrong amount 2 TIMES MY BANK SHOT ME A TEXT OF A FRAUD.. FUCK Them

I just recently reviewed this place, for its food, so I have to review it for its bar service. This is not a place for good drinks or food. I came here with my boyfriend and two of our friends for an early/late night drink night. The place was incredibly empty. Two servers at the front, who greeted us (that was nice), three "bartenders," and a gang of servers. We decided to go straight to the bar service and order drinks. First, there was no beer other than domestic. You gotta be kidding me. The only good beer was Hffenweizen. I got a mango margarita and my friend Andrea got a pomegranate one. Those drinks were delicious! I think this is the only thing they know how to do well. After a few minutes, Andrea mentioned she was starving, so we moved to a table and waited for a waiter. Took the poor gal half an hour to show up with menus. On a slow night like that? Once she came, we ordered more drinks and Andrea ordered a plate of nachos. Girl didn't show up with the nachos after half an hour and the drinks came in 15minutes after. We were annoyed by then. But we weren't going to let that get in our way of having a good time. Seriously though, how long does it take to serve a plate of nachos and beer? Andrea didn't like the nachos, 80% of the nachos remained. After tasting the food previously, I didn't bother trying them. Well we got bored after two hours and decided to leave. During our remaining time, not once did our waiter check on us. I just don't get how service could be so slow at a time when the only customers around where us and a group of hoochie girls celebrating a birthday. They sure as hell didn't have a problem getting service. The male servers and bartenders were all over them. Anyway, my boyfriend went up to a waiter and said, "We want the bill, please." One of the servers replied, "Oh, well you can go back and sit and they will bring it to you." By this time, my boyfriend lost his patience and told her, "No, we don't want to wait for anyone, we're done with this place." So we got our bill, paid and left. During our drive home, we noticed the server forgot to add the first round of drinks to the tab. So we got an order of drinks for free. Haha. I won't come back though.

I've heard good things about this location and since I am in love with the location in Bell Gardens I figured why not see what Carson has to offer. The food was just as good, but the service is kind of sub par. The waiter wasn't rude, but we had to flag him down for every little thing that we needed. In the location you usually get a little soup to start your meal off for certain dishes and that wasn't the case at this location (I got the Mar y Tierra). They didn't have agua de limon smh. The food is legit so I won't count out a possible visit in the future, but definitely going to stick to the one in BG.

Great for happy hour. They have good prices; however it does get crowded and they are understaffed. The bar is small. I was there with my staff and people were literally waiting in line to come inside the bar and since our group was 10 people, we were being stared down. It was very uncomfortable because we weren't ready to go. Chili's bar is bigger and it's just down the street.

I used to be a proponent for this restaurant. I thought the food was pretty good, portions are small, but good none the less, and local. To be honest, if I didn't live around the corner, I probably would not frequent this establishment as much as I did..."did" being the operative word. First, it is pricey, and the portions are small (at least compared to Burnt Tortilla, which is now el numero uno in the south bay). Second, the service sucks ass. I asked the Host a question and he said "what?" Not, "I'm sorry sir, I didn't hear that" or "would you mind repeating that?" Really? And he's a host? Thirdly, not even the take-out will redeem them. The last 2 out of 3 times I ordered take-out from them, they did not provide me with the tortillas that my meal was supposed to come with. Further, when I called to complain, the manager simply said, "what do you want me to do about it?" DONE WITH THIS SHIT HOLE. I beg you not to patron this joint. May I offer some alternative suggestions: La Capilla in Torrance, Burnt Torilla in Gardena (Artesia lost their lease, so they are moving to Redondo Beach Blvd., next to their take-out place. They still have the sit down restaurant on Redondo Beach Blvd. just east of Western Ave.), or even El Paso Cantina on Sepulveda in Torrance. Diana's La Bonita Sepulveda in Carson, is also good if you like cafeteria style seating. I would also appreciate some feedback.

I have been to El Pescador about 5 times since its opening and every time I am impressed. Entering the restaurant one will be intimidated yet impressed by the Statue of Liberty-sized soccer players statue that reminds me of the models that died in the gas station accident statue circa Zoolander. There's a good Happy Hour food menu. Happy hour ends at 7pm on weekdays, and I recommend the Hot Wings, Care Asada Quesadilla that comes with guacamole and s.cream, or the nachos. and THURSDAYS ARE SALSA NIGHT. If you're lucky the manager might sing a number with the all-female salsa band. The band starts playing around 8:30-9:00pm-ish and ends around 10:30pm. This restaurant has a huge dining area with booths and tables if you're looking for that. And they also have a huge bar area if you're looking to watch a game of some sort. Usually their holiday events New Year's Eve parties/ Halloween parties charge a $20 cover. Overall since El Pes just opened, there's never a wait to get a table and the male waiters are not too bad either, if you know what I mean.

We wanted to try this place.. (My friend suggested it to me) We never had the chance. But last week, I was meeting another friend and I suggested this place. The place is very clean and trendy. They have happy hour as well. Their menu "looks" so tasty and delicious. They start you off with chips and salsa. Waitress was very friendly but kind of slow and very forgetful. :-( I tried their fajitas and my friend had a wet burrito. The fajitas were a bit overcooked and need more flavoring. The wet burrito was tasty. It's kind of noisy with the mariachi/ Trio band playing. Nice Spanish ambiance. I will have to try their other dishes to comment more.... but since my fajitas didn't leave a very delicious taste in my tastes buds, I just have to say ehhhh.. OK.

This is a newly opened Mexican restaurant in Carson (in the University Plaza). About 26 of us went here for a going away party. Service - When my coworkers and I got there - the waiters + waitresses had especially reorganized the tables to accommodate us. They even put balloons on the chairs which was a nice touch! The music was a bit loud, so when asked to turn it down a bit - they did! Also, when more people than our reservation came in, they were able to quickly able to accommodate the larger crowd. Since we had to wait a bit longer for all the food to come out, the chef gave us about 7-8 plates appetizers ...on the house (nachos, quesadilla, and flautas) ! Food - I ordered the lunch special (~$7), very very fresh fish tostada! Their selection is quite extensive (includes a lot of sea food dishes)! Oh! Their flour tortillas are very fresh, probably the best I've had. You really want to have an order of that! Cost - For 26 people, it was about ~$330. Drinks and all. Not bad. Ambiance - Very clean and nicely lit! Oh yeah, when lunch rolled around, lots of people were eating here! Good thing we got there early!

I've been here I believe five times and its never gotten better. First of all, I'm a firm believer of salsa. If the salsa is good the food will be good. Salsa is not hard to fuck up but if it is, for me at least it puts me in a sour mood for my later meal. Drinks are ok. Nothing spectacular just typical. I've had the ceviche. (eh). I've had the chicken enchiladas (tasted like the sauce was from a jar) and the beans and and rice were so not on game. The beans tasted way too lardy. And the rice was hard. (?) Besides that our waitress this last time was not on point, barely came by, and had an attitude with us the whole time. If you're having problems within your own personal life that's normal, I get that but leave your problems at the door like we all have to when going to work. In a nutshell, don't eat here. Find something else.

Really good and authentic Mexican seafood. Price is reasonable. Most expensive priced item was around 15 dollars for a good seafood dish that would normally be close to 20 dollars somewere else.

I ordered the asada plate. i though it was average... I have been here about a dozen times and little by little the quality of the food has deteriorated. They are a step above an Acapulcos but slowly de-escalating.....

So customer service was god awful. We had a reservation and we waited and the entire time some people from our party were already sitting at our reserved table. We told the hostess and she said oh yea, like she knew. To top it off the first guests that arrived were not seated by hostess as you would at any other restaurant, they were told to go ahead and seat themselves (thats a good walk to table). now we sit eating stale chips and salsa. Tell me why there is a hair in our salsa. We bring this to the waitress attention and she chooses to deny that it's a hair and says oh yea people mistakenly say its hair when it's the fibers of the Cilantro. No no no no this yelpers was a hair!!! Instead of being professional and changing out the salsa immediately, she chooses to argue and thus causing a scene for our guests. Food was mediocre, reviews are right their seafood is only good. Mariachi show was great, despite they were replacements for Los camperos de Nati cano. By the way when we made the reservation and booked according to the banner outside the restaurant we were never told that Los camperos would not be there. We went to watch Los camperos, but we still got an awesome show. At this point el pescador in Carson is being saved by Los camperos de Nati cano.

Came here for Taco Tuesdays and to watch the Lakers lose... again :'( Anyways, I can't speak for anything besides what I had, but I left very satisfied. First off, they've got plenty of big screens in the bar area for you to watch. Taco Tuesdays also means $1 tacos. Not $1.25 like most carts/trucks, or $1.50-$2.00 restaurant tacos. You buy tickets (that adds to your bill/don't need cash) and head over to a table next to the bar where a guy prepares the "street-style" tacos for you. Choose from carne asada, pastor, carnitas, shredded chicken, or shredded beef and add whatever fixings you want. They're a good deal since you can add guacamole, cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, and salsas to the mix. They're an even better deal because they're pretty darn tasty. They're not the best, but they meat doesn't suck like El Torito or some crap. On top of that, they've got $5 drink specials for flavored margaritas (blended or on the rocks) or martinis. These were pretty yummy too. I left full and buzzed with a bill of less than $25 for two. Now if only those damn Lakers got their act together would I have left happier.

WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER! WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. I was at this location Sunday around 4:40pm for dinner with my boyfriend. We waited about 30mins for our table (that was fine with us) we were given a seat right in front of the mariachi, which we didn't like so we asked for a booth. The hostess told us the NEXT available booth would be for us. We then waited for another 5mins & seen another couple walk pass us to get seated in a booth. I went up to the front desk and told them "I thought we were next " & they said there had been an misunderstanding. Shortly we were seated again in a table that was in the middle aisle. I was upset and ready to walk out when they said they were clearing up a booth for us. We gave it a second thought and decided to stay. We ordered our drinks and got them in a short period of time. Everything was looking better. It all went down hill when we waited 25 mins to put in our order NOT ONCE did they go ask if we were ready to place our order. One of the bus boys felt bad for us and he took our order, from there on it took 30mins to get our food. Once we got out food it was COLD, we ate around it but decided it we would just leave. During the time we were eating NOT ONCE did they ask if we were ok. I had to ask one of the host for the check. We spent 50$ on something we WERE NOT satisfied at all. After we got the check it took the server about 15 mins to get our check, we seriously felt like walking out. Once we paid and we were walking out I had a word with the manager. He apologized for the experience and said "hope you have a better experience next time" as if we are EVER stepping foot there. This experience messed up my whole Sunday! if i could give this location 0 stars i would. TO TOP IT OFF WE RECEIVED FOOD POISING THE NEXT DAY WHEN WE ATE OUR LEFTOVERS FOR LUNCH!

Mariachi is too Loud. Not sure why some restaurants feel the need to crank the sound system to 11. My earholes hurt. Food took a long time to come out. Food tastes decent. I had the chicken Poblano. The chicken was ok, not too dry. Sauce tasted generic.

Went for breakfast on Sunday with my mom. The service was slow & the waitress was rude. They sat us in a booth right next to the live band. We could barely hear each other speak. We ordered juevos rancheros and sent it back twice. The egg was overcooked and burnt the first time, & raw the second time. I arrived hungry and left hungry because I didn't eat any of the crap food they served me. I'll never go back there again.

After hearing so much about this place I decided to stop by and check it out after a seminar I went to. Walked in and was seated at a large booth - liked that. Waiter was pretty knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. Overall - with this experience - I have had better in a chain restaurant but here the salsa and chips were served - not impressed. Ordered the chicken fajitas entree, beans and rice - tasted minimal nothing to rush home and yell to my friends about - the beans tasted as though from a can - just my humble opinion. I want to give four or five stars for the Cadillac Margaritas oh my that was good! I may not return for the food or the chips and salsa but the Margaritas I may have to find a way to get back in there for that. Guess I am used to freshly made salsa and chips which in my opinion this wasn't.

We were turned away becasue our friend who is handicapped was limping to the door. They told us that he had been drinking and he was too drunk to come in. He wasnt drunk rather has had several knee surgerys that causes him to limp. Even after showing the bouncers his scars and handicap placard from his car they would not let him, instead said they were going to have to call the police. I will not be coming back here again. They discriminate against the handicapped.

Short and simple.....Great location (right off 91 fwy, close to Home Depot center), beautiful modern bar surrounded for HD LCD's, perfect for sports watching (just get there early for a spot), and prices are pretty fair. However the food is mediocre. Its good but nothing distinguishing or authentic. Been here sooo many times since its right by my office and have tried so many of the dishes and specials but the food is not the draw for me. Its the atmosphere...the ambiance is always fun and alive! Great vibe! I'll definately keep visiting this location because of all this. And yeah it helps that its right next to the office LOL. Taco Tuesdays! $1 tacos. Bring cash! Add a happy hour drink for $5 and it's a great way to eat/drink on a budget.

I had lunch here last Tuesday and I have been here for lunch twice before. All 3 times the service was excellent. The food is excellent. The first time I had I shrimp dish which was perfect. The second time.. I cant remember exactly but it was a lunch special and it was chicken and bell peppers.. very interesting and very tasty. Last Tuesday I ordered carnitas off of the lunch special menu and once again,, very tasty. They have 2 price categories for lunch specials... a list for $6 and a list for $8. each with about 8 choices. A great variety for what I think is a great value. My only complaint would be I like my carnitas a little crispier.. I think if I would asked that I'm sure they would have accommodated me. The other thing was that I ordered soda water and the server charged me $2.75 for it... I indicated that it was purely carbonated water and she took it off of my bill. I was quite surprised to see the negative comments about this place. However they seemed to be for dinner and cocktail issues. I will certainly continue to go here and bring customers and other business associates here for lunch.

This was a very nice surprise. Just wanted some mexican food and to stay close to home, well didn't we find a spot! Really good food and a live band playing on Saturday nights! Warning however, food may be larger in person than menu leads you to believe, plus they have a full bar and 100 oz draft beer!!!!

I had the salmon salad for lunch. The lettuce looked like it was sitting out on the counter for days! It was wilted and yellow! I didn't even have a piece! The salmon had an odd bitter after taste! I was there with coworkers so I didn't want to send the food back! Hopefully never going back to this place!

Let me start here. First the service is really bad. They have you wait for such along time. They lack on bringing silverware and chips out. The food is over priced and plain. I tend to go to this place during lunch hours.. But, It really is not that good. Sorry... On the other hand.. I'm sure the drinks are possibly good. BUT, the food is over priced.. I cannot stress this.

There are 3 rules I have to the place 1. Always order tacos a la carte 2. Never order ceviche 3. If you have shrimp in the dish, make sure it's cooked all the way through. This place has some great tacos and you can eat with a drink for about 7-8 dollars if you order a la carte. I have tried all other dishes and just was never too impressed with them. Additionally I have had raw shrimp or over cooked shrimp served to me here so I try to avoid them. I also try to avoid ceviche because the one time I ordered it, it was over marinated and didn't taste fresh. So, if you follow the rules I outlined, you won't go wrong with this place. The service is good so you do not have to worry about that.

We waited an hour for our food. After two hours some of our party still hadn't received their food. Nachos were bare, hardly any cheese, beans, or salsa. My drink never got refilled (in 2 hours). It took 20 minutes to get chips. We had to ask waiter to take our order after sitting for 30 minutes. Never again.

I've been here twice, and have hesitated to return despite it being so close to home and the food being pretty good. #1 - My family came for breakfast one weekend. The server and cooks were not familiar with the breakfast menu for some reason and we had to point out and ask for our correct dishes. The chilaquiles were excellent, once I finally got them. Service was really slow yet the place was nearly empty. The place itself is really nice, but honestly, I prefer good service over fancy crap around me. #2 - We came for dinner on a weekday evening. They seated us in the back where the huge screen is located and a small band was playing, but the music was so loud that we could hardly hear each other. And again, the service was slow. I ordered the vegetarian burrito with no cheese and it was delicious, but I was annoyed with having to wait so long and being overwhelmed with loud music. Lesson learned: Only order food to go.

Every Monday heading to my softball game in Gardena, I can see and pass by El Pescador Bar & Grill while on the 91 freeway. For the longest time I've been wanting to try this place and finally it came to fruitation. Came here with friends on Monday after our softball game, still wearing our softball gear... maybe a little over dress.lol. They sat us right in! First off, this place is alive. TV screens all over, the bar area is happening, so it had a great presentation. Usually presentations do not translate the same success when it comes to its actual meals... it did. The cool thing about us eating there is that we all ordered different dishes from Mariscos to Carne La Tampiquena and because the portions are greater then average, we opted to share and try some of the other plates. There were probably 5 different plates and everything that I tried was great! Everything was delicious. I have a hard time understanding why this place is averaging three stars when quite frankly it should be 4.5 stars at best. Maybe I got lucky. The only gripe is the service is a tad slow on occasion, but not enough to deter someone from coming to this restaurant. A great place!

Came back with a group of friends on a Friday night at 6:30 p.m. We ordered two fiesta platters with one being chicken and the other as steak. I ordered the El Pescador Fajitas with chicken, beef and shrimp. The chicken and steak were very good and the shrimp was delicious. I loved how the shrimp had a nice blend of buttery garlic flavor. I'm one of those guys who is used to the Chinese-style of overcooking shrimp so that you can eat it with the shell when it's nice and crunchy. One thing to note was that there was a huge jalapeno on my fajita dish that burned my taste buds off. I was sitting sweating to live mariachi music and taking gigantic gulps of my Coca-Cola while my friend who had a piece of it said that he could barely feel anything. It goes to show that eating here can also he be an interesting experience. The service was excellent and that keeps me coming back for more. El Pescador owns my heart and wallet when it comes to Mexican food.

  • Al D.

El Pescador is my friend's Go-To spot for margaritas close to the house. The bar is nice and lively, but gets packed, so get there early if you are trying to watch a game or do Happy Hour! Food-wise, they are okay. I cannot speak to the mariscos (seafood) on the menu, but the usual Mexican dishes (chicken/beef tacos, burritos or enchiladas) I can easily walk away from. However, I hear the mariscos are pretty good. I do know the ceviche is pretty scrum-dilly so order more than one because you won't want to share!

  • Maria F.

My boyfriend and I, together with a bunch of friends (couples), started going to the Pescador on Friday nights for dinner and to listen to some good Mariachi music. The first few times the service was just O.K. but the food was decent and the Mariachi (Los Camperos de Nati Cano) was very good and they put up a good show. However, the last three times we have been there, to include last Friday, the service has been TERRIBLE! The food arrives cold and to make matters worse, they don't provide utensils . .by the time they bring the forks the food is so cold it is not enjoyable anymore . .I am not blaming the waiter/waitress; I place the responsibility on the Management because there were about 150 patrons and only two waitresses! Oh and did I mentioned that having reservations is a waste of time? Even with confirmed reservations the wait to be seated can be a good 30 minutes. To be fair, the manager did send a complimentary appetizer to apologize for the bad service. Also, the mariachi is good but they sound like a broken record . .they play the same songs at all the shows and they don't accept requests from the patrons, unless they get a hefty tip. Someone recommended "Casa Sanchez" in Culver City . .we are going there next time to check it out.

I will not be returning to this place. The service was mediocre. The food not so good. Who likes getting a huge fat glob in their Chile Colorado burrito?! Not me!! And $3 for a coke, really.

0 atars I can't even being to say we sat for 2 hours didn't get our food while everyone around us ate people who got here after us bigger parties tables parties of 20 + Never coming here again Hope this place burns to the ground along with their horrible customer service.

The food was decent but the services was horrible. Absolutely no pride in customer services. The chips were stale and the server said "that's the way they are". I've been there before and have never gotten adequate services. However, I always think that the next time is going to be better. How disappointing and frustrating.

Ridiculous is how I will start this off and I will review why. 1. The 30-45 minute wait , your freaking crazy... So we got seats at the bar. 2. Our waitress Maricela was HORRIBLE..She didn't pay attention since she brought my mom the wrong food, she never checked on us for refills on drinks, nothing. We had to keep bugging the busboy for things 3. 20 minutes after we where done and no sign of Maricela, I told my mom, let's just go to the front... Just to see her sitting in the waiting area on her cell phone, see us, get up, go to the back and continue her phone call.. WTF.. 4. Another girl came up and said how many? Really? she couldn't even look up to see we already had our to go bags in hand. I said we need our check. 5. Here come I'm to busy to Wait on you Maricela and gave us the check, I clearly noted NO TIP.. you wait on people, you get tipped. I'm surprised my mom didn't ask for that food for free- well with the horrible service, we could have left and it would had been....

I came here for the very first time on Saturday and I had the pescado tostada and it was mediocre good. The salsa was so watery and salty. My momma makes better salsa than that! Being Mexican I'm very picky when restaurants call themselves authentic Mexican food. The mariachi was a nice touch and the drinks were ok. The service was fast but felt rushed like if he wanted us to eat and leave. Over all my first experience was ehhh.

Good place to bring your parents on Sunday between 10am and 2pm Took my mom here to listen to the TRIO and have breakfast. We had had an amazing time. Mom loves her romantic spanish music and they have a live band playing which alternates every Sunday between Mariachi and TRIO. The Buffett is like $16 and you get a selection of not too fancy, but not bad Mexican food. They had enchiladas, tacos de asada, pollo, and pork. They also had some fish, fruit, you know whatever a buffet is supposed to have. Like I said nothing too fancy, but for the price and the live music it was pretty much a steal. What we liked most about this place is the atmosphere, it's all positive vibes. Watching my mom smile so big made me happy of course so maybe that is why I gave this place 5 stars. I highly recommend this place to anyone out there with Hispanic or Latin American family members that enjoy live music on Sundays. Please don't quote me for this type of entertainment on any other day or time.

I've been meaning to write a review for this establishment but I have been too lazy!! So here it goes I've been here several tines and the food is just okay nothing to write home about!! But as far as the rest of the experience here it doesn't seem like this restaurant has any type of management it's pretty much self managed by the bartenders and the food runners the hours posted are not followed by the staff we arrived 9:00 pm on a Sunday and they said they just stopped serving food?? Not but previously they had served us even later on the same weekend day so as you can see not sure why you get with every visit so dine at your own risk!!

I came here to watch the game. Nice place to watch a game if that's all your doing. (add a star) Salsa taste gross....what the...this is a Mexican restaurant right??? How the salsa tasting funny?? I was not a fan of the food or the drink menu. Me thinks this place has potential but right now its not on point.

I came here with my boyfriend a few weeks ago and can honestly put this on everything these are the worst carne asada tacos I've ever had in my life!!! I asked the waiter if there was a mistake w my order because I had expected the meat to come chopped up finely and marinated like traditional tacos. NOPE it was the lowest ground beef!!! Even the meat from Taco Bell tasted better!!! The waiter did not give us a discount or even offer to take it back. It seriously looked like dog food and was saturated in oil!!! Super disgusting!!! Please if you care about your health go elsewhere!!! This place is just low grade and disgusting!!

I'm not sure what the deal was tonight but we walked in and stood at the counter waiting to be seated longer than necessary. Once we are seated we sat there for at least 10 mins with guess what...no water, no chips/salsa, and NO ONE had come to our table to even say, "Hello! My name is ____ and I will be your server tonight. Give me a moment and I'll be back to take care of your order." There was a waiter who I thought was coming our way right when I said ummm...should we leave? He stopped at the table right next to ours then walked straight past us! At that I grabbed my purse and umbrella and we headed out the door. On our way to the door my friend spoke with the kind manager informing him of what we just experienced. He proceeded to take care of the situation as we proceeded to walk out the door. Once in the car, seat belts buckled, and car fully out of the parking space we get a flash light in our faces which scared the MESS outta me!!! It was the door attendant and the kind manager asking us to come back inside for free margaritas. I declined telling him I don't drink and he then offered free guacamole. At this time I didn't want to chance it. We said no politely and went on down the street to Chili's where we were greeted with a smile immediately, seated, and had our drinks, chips and salsa within the first 10 mins of entering the restaurant. My friends and coworkers really enjoy this place and I've been here a few times myself so as I mentioned above, I don't know what it was about tonight...

Amazing restaurant. Great food, great service and a large marIachi band on Friday. I highly recommend this establishment. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, but trust me the wait was well worth it.

It has been the worst experience that my hole family has passed, it's insane for a chain of restaurants to behave like this, the girl in the front desk needs to be replaced with a 2 year old, because a baby would have better people skills.

This place is a perfect example of don't judge a place by their past reviews. We gave it a shot and we're really happy with the food, great drinks at a reasonable price. We are definitely coming back soon!

This is my 3rd visit here and most likely my last as far as dinner goes. They are completely horrible when it comes to seating you. They literally tried squeezing our party of 10 into room for 8. Not happening!! Finally after being seated, the waitress spills the wine and didn't even apologize. It was one bad thing after another. Most importantly the food was tasteless which is why I won't go back to eat. My 2 stars were given to the Mariachi show they have, which is what brought us in. Only coming back for that and drinks.

  • Ursula P.

I wanted to listen to mariachi for my bday so my family took me here. When we called they said the mariachi started at 7. We got there at 7 and left by 830 & still NO MARIACHI! We asked the hostess and she said they were trying to call them and they wouldn't answer them! Hmm ok! Also, I went there to eat lobster and after taking my order the waiter came back and said they didn't have any! Seriously! My mothers meat was raw when we received it and cold as if it was under a fan for awhile! The service wasn't that great either! Will not be back. Will stick to the bell or bell gardens locations. They are awesome!

Co-workers and I come here for happy hour every now and then. We're always as loud as we want to be, and never receive any hassle from the workers or fellow happy hour-ers. There are always sports playing on the TVs, great drinks, and super inexpensive bar eats. Mexican food, booze, music, and TV is ALWAYS a great combo. This place hasn't seen the last of us!!

AMAZING!!!! I love the food they serve here. I've had the shrimp ceviche a couple of times now and I love it. It's so perfectly done. Same for the Carne Asada plate. This place is always full, obviously because the food and music is great. Love the full bar, and Mariachi they play on the weekend.

This place is always a hit or miss with me! Sometimes I come here and the seafood is delicious, the band is great and the service is good. Other times I come here and I'm treated like crap and the plate sucks...? Go figure! I live 2 lights away from the place so I come here a lot sometimes and other times I don't. Here today on a Saturday at 1pm for the Margarita brunch and I'm having a great time and the food is on point. Must be a good day for the place! Lol!

Sometimes service is great...sometimes not too much.. they have 10tvs at the bar. All playing the same thing. We asked if they could change the channel to a game we wanted to watch and they just ignored our request. Watched other game that was playing on all 10 tvs. Bummer.

It is a little frightening that the restaurant needs bouncer type security guards at the front door. I once pulled up to the restaurant and there were several police officers breaking up a fight. Needless to say, that is not the environment I want to be when I'm trying to have a meal. The food is barely OK. The only reason I why I've been to this place is because of its proximity to the 91 freeway. It is very convenient to pick up food and take it home.

Had lunch here yesterday after hearing a friend tell me how great the food was and I was very disappointed . Upon entering we were greated by a pleasant young lady who tried to sell us on the buffet which had ended ten minutes before. No big deal, probably just lost track of time. Once seated we ordered our food and waited about fifteen minutes for chips and salsa, which they brought over along with our drinks. Seems like a long time for either to be brought over. Once our food arrived it was on the colder side, not to mention we had to wait almost five minutes for utensils. Ordered another drink at this time and was done with my meal before it arrived. Not impressed with this place at all

I used to love to come and eat their fish soup lunch special. For just $7.75 you would get a real large bowl with lots of fish. But I just came here a few days ago and my the soup serving was much smaller hardly any fish at all. I brought it to the waiters attention and he said that's how it comes. I asked the waiter for my tortillas that came with my lunch and he never brought them to me.

Today's experience is regarding the food, my daughter is curled up on the couch with the worse stomach pain. I hope she didn't get food poisoning. My stomach feels crappy too. We had 2 different dishes so not sure what did the trick. But the beef in my taquitos tasted a bit off, like if the meat was bad. I should of said something then and there but they might think just trying to get a free meal. Never that, the food was just gross. Too bad because the place is really nice looking. Waiters, if you aren't a people person find another job.

I work down the street from this place and had never been to it but always heard people talk about it. Well lo and behold today was my (un) lucky day to try it! I met a friend here for dinner and I ordered the Carne Asada a La Tampiquena and that sh*t was nasty! The meat was super dry and literally would disintegrate in my mouth. It came with rice and beans and what looked like fetuccini alfredo (trust me, I didn't even dare touch it) and a enchilada I am assuming a la Poblana (didn't touch it either!) I ordered a Model and just baby sat that thing for the rest of my dinner and engaged in conversation to forget how horrible the food tasted. Our waitress was nice but she took forever to come check on us. My friend needed a fork and tried to ask another waiter but he just ignored him and pretended he didn't hear him! Hahah! It was kinda funny now that I think about it... Anyhow, I am assuming they have good seafood and I suppose happy hour is ok, but I am a fatty and me like food and this place sucked when it came to meat. Will I go back? Eh, I rather go to Panda next door.

I was diverted here by my brother who lives near by. I was looking to end my Sunday with some good Mexican food and Mariachi. Walked in to Snoop Doggy Dog. Let's get to the food; 2star food on a 5 star budget. Habanero fish came with chopped habaneros in a plastic cup instead of a fished flavored in an habanero sause. They may as well let you bring in your own catch and prepare it for you. Only saving grace of this place was our server Maria who was on point. In summary if your looking for quality food head to my original destination La Hauasteca or try La Guelaguetza who are worth the drive and are on point for the price.

Good stop for good Mexican restaurant food. Not authentic home made, but better than most places. owner sometimes says hi to tell success story, he's nice. great vibe for sports and college kids. bar is great. drinks pricey but classy. semi kid friendly.

I come here before I hit up the Home Depot Center sometimes (sorry, it's now called the StubHub Center). The interior and design makes it one of the nicest Mexican Restaurants I've seen. Very modern and clean look. Their menu is very detailed with numerous pictures of various plates that help a gringo like myself see what is what. I usually stick to the appetizers and drinks though. I little ceviche washed down with a couple beers always makes for the start of a good night out. The two star knock down has do with their food. The salsa for their chips tasted more like cocktail sauce than it did like regular salsa. Also, if you stray from the seafood, the rest isn't so great. As you can see by other Yelpers, the steak is bland and the chicken is dry. My wife can attest after ordering the fajita combo. I would definitely stick to the seafood on the menu. Prices are also a little high. The only Mexican restaurant in the South Bay that can justify charging $15-$20 per plate is Ortega 120, El Pescador can't.

Normally I wouldn't bother with reviews, and just would never again set a foot in a business that has such horrible service. But I think it's necessary this time. We arrived at this restaurant at 7:15 pm and by 9:00 pm we were still waiting, not to mention we were bypassed five times. And the "Host" didn't even apologize for not doing her job correctly. We should have left then but we didn't feel like driving anywhere else. Finally we get a table, but their was a chair missing. So we waited once again until someone found a chair, which by the way took them five minutes or longer to find. What kind of business are you running here? Is their no resturant management over looking these employees? The only good thing about this place was the mariachi. I would not recommend this place.

Holy Duck! This place sucks donkey! Over priced cold Mexican food, weak drinks and slow service. I ordered a molcajete which is supposed to be served piping hot so that the cheese is melted. What I got was cold cheese, cold chicken and even colder bacon wrapped shrimp. To add insult to injury, i asked that it be taken back because it was cold and they brought back the same one just reheated. I know because the meat I served my girl and I was missing. Instead of a re fire, I got reheat. I Will never come back and you shouldn't waste your time coming. Instead go next door to el burro for a beer and burrito. With all due respect, any one giving this place more than 1 star should have their yelp account revoked.

I was excited to take my family out for dinner , we get there and they say the wait would be 10 minutes , we literally waited 40min to be disappointed on the service as much as the food , so pricy so not worth the food ! We could of done so much better by dining at Los compadres so recommended !

I came here last night with a bunch of friends. Some people we knew had recommended it. Yes it was a busy night so I can understand slow service, but we all ordered at the same time and they would bring out a plate then take 20 min to bring out the next. Finally when all of us got our plates we were disappointed. I ordered the salmon and it was dry and flavorless. Staff seemed nice but wouldn't go back .

I was there about a week ago on Easter Sunday & was with my coworkers . One of them recommend that place and had always been talking about so I decided to go out with to try this place . My drink was great it was alcoholic.. But the food now that ugh and the service -.- man oh man the man was rude .. He wasn't attentive . He took 15 to brin some damn tortillas and then when he finally brought them he gave me the wrong ones I was getting more mad cause my food was getting cold . The manager came by because my coworkers food was flavorless he removed the plates and said if he could get them anything else the girls said no ... I told him that I had waited a long time for the tortillas and that I got the wrong ones .. He ROLLED his eyes and walked away RUDE! I won't come back, bad service !

I was at El Pescador on Sunday, November 2 and the service was horrible. We sat in the bar, there were 8 of us. We had to ask our server for chips 4 times, the bartender once and finally the busboy stopped by with more chips. The server was extremely busy, they seemed under staffed. The Molcahete and the micheladas were great but the service was not existent!!!

Came here for the first time to celebrate a relative's birthday. We were supposed to have reservations for a large group. We got here and we had to wait to be seated, then our table wasn't big enough and our group was split up. It took forever to get our drinks, longer to get our order and twice as long to get our food. My daughter and nephew were the last ones to get their food. During the meal we had to make several attempts just to get our drinks refilled. We had water, horchata and tamarind water. My nephew asked for Cazadores with squirt. His drink was extremely watered down. He complained about the the drink and they brought him back the same drink. If it had been up to me, we never would have come here. The noise levels were ridiculous. It was difficult to have a conversation with the person sitting opposite of me. This will definitely be the one and only time my family and I come here.

I had dinner here with my family because we were recommended they had really good food. It was really busy when we got there and I liked that because usually when it's busy it means it's good. The mariachi was there and it was going so well I loved it! Right until our food got there..my mixed ceviche had no flavor and the shrimp looked like rubber. My parents got the carne asada with chicken and it came with rice and beans and that had no flavor either. I think the only reason why people love it there honestly is because the drinks. And after you drink anything taste good. Lol seriously I would recommend going to the bar instead with friends. The mariachi was really good though

Horrible service we waited for more than 20 min for someone to get our order..i had to go ask someone to help us and not even like that they sent someone to help us..we walked out without ordering ..the place wasn't even packed there was tons of waiters just passing us and not acknowledging us..never will I go back bad service..

I've been to this place twice without ever eating. Both times our table never was served. This last time there were empty tables but all dirty and the staff didn't seem to kind about cleaning them. The worst is don't expect to be served. Just wait and wait.... It's crazy. After reading the other reviews I feel better that it's not just me. The place we went to afterwards was so awesome I hate to give them a negative review because it lead us to an really cool spot that we're sure to return to often. That's the positive. After leaving here, you'll love where you're actually going to eat at. NOTE: I'm writing this review in hopes they will improve. It's a nice looking place with all the elements a customer wants. I hope there will be changes in the near future.

I would not go here again. The experience of the live mariachi was entertaining but the food was extremely lacking. The salsa wasn't enjoyed by anyone at the table. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas and was some what disappointed. The sauce was pretty decent but the interior of the enchiladas were practically empty. It only contained boiled shrimp. No sauce, cheese, onion bell pepper NOTHING!!!!! Extremely bland for the price. It was a waste of $20.00 to say the least.

Bad thing about this place is: the food is just so-so, the service crappy and you might just get shot in the parking lot by all the Raider Jersey wearing Southsiders that come here, if you can find a parking spot. Do yourself a favor and go to one of the other Restaurants that are round in the same complex.

Love this place...the service and food were great. The waitness was nice and took care of us like family. The shrimp cocktail was stuffed with fresh shrimp in the tastiest sauce. Had the bacon wrapped shrimp and fried shrimp...both were cooked perfectly. Cant wait to go back

Food is good, but not the best I ever had! I usually get the nachos and share with my friends! However, I do go here often because I work near by and it's a good spot to just get a way for about an hour. The atmosphere is upbeat, service is prompt! They get you in and out.

Why haven't I tried this place until recently? This was one of those places that I knew was there...for years...without trying! And when I did, I was impressed! The restaurant is definitely bigger and nicer inside than how it seems from outside, mainly because of it's location. Once inside, you are greeted by super friendly server and manager, which is always a plus, since I am someone who really cares highly of service. From their name, you would think "Oh! It must be a seafood restaurant" right? Well, overall, their menu consisted more of meat and others than seafood, which was strange. However, I am not complaining... Because the food was oh-so-de-li-ci-o-so! My favorite from El Pescador is none other than their BEANS!!! Yes, BEANS!!! I mean, I am not usually someone who likes beans and I prefer to skip on them when eating Mexican food, but wow! I just can't stop eating them!!! Accordingly to my co-worker who's from Mexico, the reason why they are that delicious is because they cooked the beans from pork fat! Well, since I love fatty food (yes......sadly), I don't mind this! Even though I am slightly worried on the calories, no wonder the beans are so flavorful! Because of this very love for the beans from El Pescador, I try to order dishes that come with beans and I highly recommend that you do that too! Only downside is that the parking in that plaza is just nuts, so be patient with that. Also, the restaurant can get really busy during their peak hours, so make sure you make a reservation if you are going in a big group, which I've seen a lot of.

Food is good but the servings are not generous, especially for seafood dishes. With that said, their prices are not reasonable. Drinks are good overall. The bazooka is a beast for a couple. You'll struggle to finish it. The fruity cauldron drink is alright. Too much ice and fruit and light on alcohol by volume. Ambiance when the mariachis are playing at the dining area or during sporting events at the bar is nice and lively.

First and LAST time ever!!!! Dear management: if you'd like to make more money and establish a good name, get more servers, train them to have great customer service, and hire a GOOD mexican cook. A customer should NEVER have to wait 5 minutes before the hostess appears(and its ridiculous that your servers just stare at patrons instead of greeting them and saying "someone will be with you soon); a customer should never have to wait 20 minutes to order; and MEXICAN food should taste like MEXICAN food, not like bland, canned, overcooked, under-seasoned, what I can only imagine poop to taste like. I'm so upset that I spent time and money here. GET IT TOGETHER. Take a restaurant management course and turn it around. Your restaurant has potential, but needs a real bad make-over!!!!! Your in Carson, Mexicans expect bomb as Mexican food, otherwise we can just pay our moms to cook!

If the Sinaloan Cartel ever owned a restaurant, I think I found it. This was one of the nicest Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. However, it's going to take more than a few "ewwws & ahhs" to get some stars out of me! In fact, one word sums up my visit to El Pescador; "hollow." Allow me to elaborate. Upon arrival, I found myself doing laps around the parking lot. I felt like Dale Earnhardt Jr. When I entered the restaurant, I must say I was impressed. A lot of effort went into the interior design of this restaurant. It was a mix between a Las Vegas sports bar and Pier One Imports. The sports bar was peppered with plasma TV's, trophies, jerseys, neon signs, and statues; all common elements in a sports bar but El Pescador pulled it off with class and pizzazz! The service was well above average. I counted up to 7 servers in the dining area. That's about double of what I usually see. At this point, service and interior design had the place headed towards a 5-Star rating. Then the bomb fell . . . I ordered the Fajitas Pescador, which was a combination of steak, chicken, and shrimp fajitas. Despite the fact that it was very over-priced, the steak tasted like LIVER and the chicken was average at best. In addition, the rice tasted like box rice; dry. On a positive note, the three shrimp were fantastic! Structure, service, and appearance only get you so far in life. Those are mere toppings on my sundae. Why put all that effort in if your food is mediocre. Overall, I saw promote the designer, fire the kitchen manager.

We usually love to come here and chill for a bit. Tomorrow is my husband's birthday so we decided to come here for an early dinner and drinks. Bad decision....sadly. Tonight we experienced THE WORST service ever! Restaraunt is fairly open with a few families and bar is full watching college football. Our hostess served the first round of drinks after seating us from a 10 min wait (no one else ahead of us). Our waiter, came up to us after another 10 min asking if anyone took our order??!! 2 beers each and an appetizer, we're out! We'll be surprised if we ever return after tonight's rotten, unwelcoming experience. Thanks for making my husband's birthday dinner so memorable. :-(

Food took a long time ordered Empapelado de mariscos half was burned stuck on the foil and parts of it was cold. The other plate was a shrimp dish it was flavorless. The tortillas were stuck in the wrapper. NEVER AGAIN BETTER OFF AT MARISCOS MONI OR MARISCOS LOS DORADOS

So unhappy with my service at this location the food was bland and cold the service was even colder. Three days after i went for lunch the charge to my visa hit and i was over charged my total was $19.57 and was charged $34.80 thats $15.23 that was charged without my permission called right away to deal with what had happened and was told the manager was not yet there to try in an hour i told them ok tell her my name and i will be there in person in an hour. I gave it a bit more time and went the staff was rude and did not want to bring the manager to the door i had to say that i was going to call the police for her to come out and she did refund me my money in cash but what an awful ordeal that i had to go through and it wasn't about the money its the principle i would have done the same for any amount small or large do your self a favor dont go here they have alot of locations this one is a bad apple.

If there was ever a place I was meant to eat at - this was it. Last week, I went with coworkers to have lunch. The first place we went to - big sign, closed for vacation. The second place we tried to go - driver missed the exit so we ended up looking for a way to turn around. Instead of turning around and eating up precious lunch time minutes - we ended up here at El Pescador Bar & Grill. Service was awesome and so were their lunch specials. I ordered the Burrito Colorado which came with beans, rice and a salad. If I remember right - it was $6.95. If that's wrong - it was only a dollar more. Not bad for lunch except that it was a drive from Long Beach - but that's not this place's fault. The decor was pretty cool. TV's all around and the place seemed clean and new. Seems easy enough to get to as it's right off the freeway. Ample parking but it was after the usual lunch hour for most. Not sure just how busy the lot gets.

My experience was great! Cool atmosphere, TV screens all over playing Maná concerts everytime I come (my fav band) Everything ordered was delicious! The only gripe is the service is a tad slow on occasion, but not enough to deter someone from coming to this location. A great place!!

The shrimp cocktails are good and so are the drinks. The drinks had a good kick to them. The only complaint is that the nachos were not very flavorful and lacked cheese.

Love the bar here and the atmosphere is pretty laid back. Strong drinks no complaints.

I prorbably should give them a bit more credit "Pescador" as their menu is pretty decent. However, I had high hopes for the place that became dismal. It is largely due to the ambiance. While it gives the impression (marketing) that its a nice restaurant and sports bar, it really gives more of the impression of a Denny's style family place with a small (did I say very small?) sports bar / band area. The bright lights in the late night take away from this spot as a 'go to' place for a date unless you do not like your date, then this a perfect spot. The food and menu looked good but I admit the menu was way too busy for me to feel good about picking a seafood dish I thought I'd like. I stuck with a basic shrimp dish. It was good but not overwhelming. I doubt I will be back. While I enjoy a good sports bar, this one was small to me and couple that with a small area for a band to play and it was too much for the small space. I am glad to have some good eats in my local area, but to really draw in crowds who are not just coming to see a soccer (or football) game, this place will need to step up their game!

Review is for the bar...I come here often, a big fan of this place they have very good prices. Bartenders are pretty cool, as well. Late night music. and drinks, what else do you need? Now, the food is not all that...its good, but not great.

Great atmosphere, sh*tty service. Originally told no more than an hour wait.... 2 hrs later the only reason we got seated was bc I asked for the manager. He compensated us with a free appetizer... but the service fell short yet again after the drink order. -_- never had this service at the one in Ontario. Would I come here again? nope! Should have gone to Fatburger next door. Food was okay, but the service is keeping us away from this place.

So came here for the first time and I will not be coming back here. The place itself is nice but the food is tasteless no flavor what so ever I order a tostada d camaron and it was so mediocre no taste NOTHING!! I had to ask the waiter for everything lemon, salt, extra tostadas my brother order some carnitas and we had to ask for salsa and tortillas. Honestly did not like the food and yes it was expensive....

The server was friendly, but he made mistakes with our drink orders and didn't come back to the table often. We were a party of 5, and they brought one persons meal, then a few minutes later two more meals, but it was several minutes before the final two were brought out, and we hadn't been given silverware. The 7 mar soup was good, but everything we got with asada was pretty bad.

I went twice, and Never made it in this place. Unless you know the owner or someone that works there be prepare to wait and watch people they know come in and give kisses to the manager and waltz in while you wait and watch. Bad service. They have about 4 list to sit people down you better be on the right list or else forget about it. I sat for about an 1hr after they told me it was going to take 20 min. Full of It. Never Again. Small place and they want to segregate the dining room to mariachi/reservation/walk-in Please. One more thing. they have about 10 Managers. LOL But none of them know what they are doing. BEWARE.

Let me start off by saying wow! My mother, my son and I came to El Pescador on a Tuesday early evening. I was impressed right away by the decor. It was so warm and inviting, and the music was great. The waiter was quite possibly the best waiter on earth. He came to check on us so many times never let a drink get past the half way mark. And even brought out markers for my son because they ran out of crayons! He made us feel so welcome I loved it! The food was delicious too! I had the shrimp cocktail and man was is crammed with shrimp. Usually places fill it with onion and just a couple of shrimp but this was impressive. My mom got some breaded fish and it looked so good I had to have a bite. It was definitely as good as it looked. I saw that they have different things each night I will most definitely be back for Mariachi night!!! REVISED: Went back a week later and the service was really slow despite letting them know we were ready and in a hurry :(

I went here with friends to watch the Laker's game. Very nice looking, not what I was expecting at all. Good place to chill with friends and have a good time. But the food was not good at all. I'm picky, so I usually go with the simplest items on the menu first. I ordered a chicken taco and beef taco. Let me say, it took a whole hour before I got my tacos and good thing they ended up being FREE!! The chicken taco was horrible. The chicken was sweet, not all what I want to taste in a taco. The beef taco was just alright. Not bad, and not good. We had quite a few people in our party. Another person in our party ordered, and never got her food. They forgot to put the order in. Not very good service at all. Can't review the drinks, I only drank water. But as I said before, if you want a place just to go chill and watch the games, the atmosphere is really good.

This is not your typically "Chain" Restaurant where everything looks and tastes the same no matter in which state you go. This place is different, it has a nice modern classy flair, like I said a little different. They have a huge selection of Tequila, and I mean HUGE, I did not make it to try them all yet, but I have been through a few of them up and down the shelf and let me tell you, they are yummy!!! The food is good too, just sometimes it is a hit or miss, don't know why. But they have the greatest bar Tenders in LA and the guys may not only return here for the Tequilas, trust me. they serve cold beer from hot senioritas =;-) And even this is only your little corner Mexican Restaurant you will still meet an International crowd, with people from around the globe. Oh, and did I mention that they have live Mariachi on the weekend as well? "Una cerveca esta noche?"

When this restaurant first opened I was excited to see what it was all about. There drinks were good and reasonably priced. The food was OK but then it go really sloppy. Happy hour is Mon-Fri 3-7 and Monday all day. Their drinks also got a little sloppy too. I only come here once in a while for a beer and chips. This place is pretty lame now. I hear that on weekends this place tries to be a "night club" I doubt it's any good.

This review is just about the food. I ordered to pick up. I ordered the Cheese Enchilada Plate, it came with rice, beans, chips, and guacamole. The Enchiladas were Salty and the Sauce tasted like canned sauce. The shredded cheese inside wasn't even melted. The Enchilada Plate and a Medium Horchata came out costing me $15.00 and change, which it wasn't worth.

Came to El Pescador on a wednesday afternoon around 2pm and the restaurant was fairly empty so i expected to be seated have food and drinks in no time. This was a sad mistake the table was not dressed we had to tell the server to give us silverwear once we recieved our food. before this we had to ask to order and even get our drinks, it seemed as if we were being bounced around as far as waiters and waitresses go which was extremely unprofessional. besides the poor service the food was excellent i had the fiesta plater and enjoyed it, but my advisors on the other hand did complain about the shrimp and pork as we ate. overall my experience was okay could of been way better but i'll give this restaurant 4 stars for the excellent food I recieved and 1 star for the service giving it an overall 2 star rating.

This El Pescador is located in an area that I call Carpton, that is teetering on a fine line between Carson and Compton I'm not sure what everybody is raving about but this was a total waste of my time. Happy Hour was not a Happy Time. The service was slow and retarded (no offense to Sarah Palin and her brood). It took over 30 minutes to get our drink order, what? No Thank You. The drinks were weaker than Dick Cheney's gun aim. No Thank You. The appetizers were dog food in disguise. The salsa was watery tomato juice with flecks of cilantro and onion. I saw people putting hot sauce in the salsa just so that they can taste something. The chips were mildly stale. The grilled, sauteed shrimp was deplorable. Why bother butterflying the shrimp and not de-vein it? gross. No one wants to see the shrimp poo poo lines when they don't have to. And, the shrimp smelt really fishy and not fresh, like a busy hooker on a two hour stretch. No Thank You. Carson Mayor Jim Dear was the biggest advocate in getting this restaurant to Carson. why? I don't know. But all I can say is No Thank You. No Thank You. No Thank You.

Usually go for dinner but this am went for the margarita/mimosa brunch. The food was great, service was ok, and the drinks were nummy. Wide selection from the buffet with hot food, salad/ceviche bar, soup bar, and a guy that'll make ur omelet the way ya like it. Ayce and auper delicioso. Deserts were o so good. Drinks were strong and u get a free margrita or mimosa included. Starts at 10am till think 1pm. The restaurant is pretty new and very clean. Think each person is 12.99

they have really good lunch specials! a good amount of food for 6 dollars with fresh chips and salsa. i usually get chile verde burrito or the carne asada plate.both are pretty damn good. i came here for happy hour one time after work. i really like their mango margaritas. ask them to put chili and salt on the rim. tastes just like those mexican mango lolipops!

After taking our final exam, my friend and I decided to grab a drink. Usually we go to Chili's down the street, close to the 405 freeway. I remember seeing this place so I suggested we go there. It was a Tuesday night around 8:30pm. There was karaoke going on and we were too late for Happy Hour. We really wanted a margarita. We sat in the bar area and each ordered a blended house margarita. We get our drinks and all I taste is a mixture of watered down "some" lime flavor and a crap load of tequila. The waitress comes by and we tell her there's no "lime" flavor and it was way too strong. She takes it back to a female bartender who rolls her eyes... She brings us back margaritas and this time it tastes like water was just added to them. I tell my friend, "We are just gonna have to drink water. We are not paying $14 for something that claims to be a margarita." Our shrimp tacos arrive, those were fine. The tortillas were warm, a little crispy, the shrimp was cooked well and the taco had flavor. We ask the waitress for water and inform her that we weren't happy with our second margaritas and ask her for water. We literally each took a little sip and it was terrible! She took them back to the bar, took them off the bill, and brought us water and apologized. A few minutes later the manager on duty (Janet or Janae) comes over and asks us about our margarita incident. She apologized and told us she'd go make the margaritas for us. We were about ready to go, but we accepted and said one was fine we'd share it. Man did this girl make a margarita! It was on the house and we made sure to leave a nice tip. I gave this place 3 stars because the manager on duty should not have to go and do the bartender's job. Hello, if you're a bartender, you should know how to make a freakin' margarita! I mean come on, who wants to pay $7 for something that has no flavor, is way too strong, or watered down? I was very happy with the manager's actions, but now I'm leery of ordering mixed drinks next time I come here.

I came here maybe a month ago on a Friday night after work. Eek!! Now, ive been to many of these restaurants across Los Angeles. Ive actually been to this one a couple of times before for lunch. For the most part, good food, good experience... Not this time. Showed up during the dinner rush. Crowded. Got sat and waited, and waited, and waited for the waitress. 10 minutes later here she is, takes the drink orders. Another 10 minutes go by and they FINALLY bring us chips and salsa. 20 minutes and still no drinks. Im already growing impatient. Finally takes our order. Cheese Enchilada please. So we wait for our food, the waitress is no where in site. Need more drinks and Chips, but no customer service what so ever. Everyone was running around in a disorderly mad rush. After waiting 45 minutes for our food, it finally arrives... to my chagrin my order is wrong. I politely tell the waitress I ordered cheese enchiladas and not chicken enchiladas. At which point she tries to lecture me on what I ordered and tells me im wrong. Hmm i guess they don't fully understand the concept of customer service here. Long story short, I told her to change my order and make it to go. Not looking into going back there any time soon. All it takes is one bad experience to ruin your perception of a location... this one experience just did it for me.

Ever drank something that punched your salivary glands, made you pucker up both ends, and literally pickled your liver like those eggs swimmin in the jar??? Our consultant at work loves this place and frequents it so often we just call it the EP. I've only had lunch there so this is only relevant for that purpose. First time I went there I had to try the jamaica (hibiscus flower) drink per the suggestion of our consultant who shall remain unnamed. It's a reddish drink that is the MOST sour thing I have ever tasted. You cannot get a full gulp down because it causes you to make the most ridiculous face as you try to drink it. I felt like my liver was gonna end up on a dish sauteed with onions! Actually, the appetizers you get are the best parts. Their chips and salsa is "warm and fresh" as another coworker put it. The guacamole is tangy and buttery. I usually order off the lunch menu and tried the burrito Colorado, chili rellenos, and enchiladas. The food is tasty and definitely worth the moolah. They would have gotten another star if it wasn't for the one time where they completely forgot that our group was waiting there. It took 30 minutes to finally get our food and the usual waiter who is really nice, friendly, and talkative realized it and ended up calling the matradee to do the damage control. See kids? Yelp can be fun AND educational! Check out how to make jamaica drink in the comfort of your own home! bit.ly/JamaicaDrink

went to have lunch at this place. And they had an ok lunch special. I had the chicken enchiladas with rice, beans, and salad. There is nothing spectacular about this place. Service is ok. My server was friendly. Alot of employees from different businesses seem to come here for lunch, that's who I mostly seen during their lunch time traffic.

Down the street from my Job. Nice bar area to watch the games. Lots of tvs- a plus. Try the beef hard shell tacos. They are 1.25 during happy hour I beleive. Yum! They got a pretty decent happy hour

The name of the place means Fish.....you would think that they would serve fresh fish tacos.....nope......could not eat mine, was like rubber. Waited too long for meal, too long for waitress to ask if we wanted another drink. I asked to speak to the manager, took 15 minutes for him to come. I made my complaint and he did take my meal off the bill and gave us 15% off. I suggest that the owners make some changes as they will be losing customers. Bar too loud, too crowded and understaffed. Won't go back again until I hear they upscale their menu. If I wanted frozen fish I would have gone to the supermarket.

I went here for happy hour...the drinks are pretty cheap. My friend and i had fish tacos which were delicious. There salsa is also good. I'd rate the service as a B. They weren't very busy at the time, but we still had to wait for our check. This is a decent place to watch a Laker game or just grab a couple quick drinks. The interesting thing is that near the bar area they huge replica of a soccer trophy. Definitely took me back to my childhood when everyone gets a trophy.

This place caters to a younger crowd. It has a full bar, good happy hour specials, and a fun atmosphere. They also have live music on Thursday nights and $1.00 tacos on Tuesdays (5-8pm). I went on a Friday afternoon during happy hour, and it was busy! We waited 30 minutes just to get a booth in the bar area! They have good drink specials ($3 for domestic beer, $4 for imported), and a variety of appetizers. We ordered the carne asada quesadilla, potato skins, and carnitas & carne asada tacos. The quesadilla had a great amount of meat, no skimping at all. And their tacos were also full of meat. You could easily make 2 tacos with the amount they had. Not bad for $1.25. The potato skins were just ok, they came with too much sour cream and WAY too many onions. There were onions everywhere! Service was slow (as to be expected during their busy time, I guess). It would be nice to see a better staffed place. Things would run more efficiently if they had more people to help serve. (Our chips and salsa didn't arrive until 10 minutes AFTER we sat down and placed our drink and appy order). The music was WAY TOO LOUD! The music choices worked well, but I hate having to yell to the people I'm with to have a decent conversation. In all, a good place with tons of potential.

Great Mexican style seafood! I'm not a fan of the other dishes but it's the best Pescador restaurant I've been to. Great atmosphere with friendly staff and the entertainment is good too. They have a jukebox by the bar and Thursdays is college night I believe with DJ and Saturdays they have a good band.

First & LAST visit was yesterday afternoon for my cousin's bday. We were given chips & salsa shortly after being seated and got our drink orders. Atmosphere was nice but the service was slow! Our food took forever, or so it seemed, to get there.I ordered the fajitas pescador, and after I was served with that, it took another 10 min. to get my tortillas, which should've come at the same time as my fajitas. So now I have nice, warm tortillas but the steak, chicken & shrimp fajitas are cold. My fajitas were just ok, nothing to brag to my friends about.I was disappointed.

The food is okay but I have had much better Mexican food. The worst part about the place was I left with a huge headache there was a live band that was simply loud and annoying. I could not even hear the person next to me let alone think. I will not be returning here anytime soon.

Ugh...where to begin...Well, first off I'd like to praise the decorator, he did an amazing job. Too bad I can't say the same for the food. I ordered the "Pescador" which included 2 fried shrimp, 2 garlic shrimp and 2 shrimp wrapped in bacon and grilled. All served over a steaming bed of Spanish rice and peas. Sounds good right? WRONG. The fried shrimp was cold, the garlic shrimp still had the legs AND shell on it, and the bacon-wrapped shrimp was raw. And on top of it all, every shrimp STILL HAD ITS VEIN INTACT. The rest of the stuff I could mind, but, unclean shrimp I WILL NOT STAND FOR. Never again, man, never again.

If your looking for good Mexican food, this is not the place. I should have left when I tasted the chips and salsa. It wad like ketchup and stale chips. I ordered shrimp enchiladas and did not finish half a one. The sauce was very inauthentic, the shrimp were not divined, everything on my plate was terrible. Don't waste your time or money.

I love the decor of this place. The restaurant is spotless which is always a plus in my book. Stopped by for lunch it was good and the portions were pretty large. The guacamole had a little too much onion in it for my taste but meh the chips were good. Our waiter was nice everybody else seemed pretty lukewarm :/ Overall I would say we had a good experience not anything to write home about (so please dont send this review to my home!!!) lol

Food was good, service was good. I'm just not use to having ketchup with my seafood. I know some people like it like that, but I don't. My mixta had ketchup, if it had not had ketchup I would have gavin it a 5. So, if you don't want ketchup on your seafood make sure you let them know.

I was surprised to see the 3 star rating on this place, whats up? Came here for happy hour, which turned into apps, then turned into dinner, then more happy hour.... I have been to the other El Pescador locations and have always been a fan of the food and service. This place is no different except its a newer location and nice inside! The micheladas are the best, most places don't know how to make them very well but this place has got it dowwwwn!! I recommend the molcajetes, ANY of the seafood dishes, especially ceviche! Its super fresh. I will definitely be returning here with the homies.

Can't stop raving about this new place in Carson.. Watch out BJ's you've got some stiff competition! Food is delicious, drinks are amazing! and what more can you ask for Live Salsa band, whew !!! Nice job El Pescador you brought a touch of Mexico in a very CLASSY way:) Go Chivas! Oh! did I mentioned the HUGE bar? No matter what time of the hour you need to grab a bite to eat, or a drink to relax. This is the spot to be! You'll be greeted with smiles from the moment you walk through the front door until you're ready to leave. And not to mention how they stir up some of the best drinks (ask for the pomegranate long island) I've had on this side of town. Any day of the week, you can't go wrong with El Pescador in Carson.

  • Roshanda M.

From the moment you walk into the El Pescador you feel like family.. The hostess staff always greet you with a warm hello.. My favorite of course is the food, however the bartenders are the ones that really make my day. They have all become such great friends that they remember all of the regulars that come in and what type of drink they like.. This is the best spot in Carson to hang with your friends and meet new ones over great food, great drinks and a warm staff.....

Used to love this place for pre/post Home Depot, but the bartenderess really took advantage of us last time. My boyfriend and I were both overcharged on our credit cards. Once last summer the waitress lost my credit card somehow, between the table and the cash register.....something fishy going on? Hmmmm

I ate here about a week ago during lunch time. I had the chile relleno with a side of rice and beans. It only cost me $5.95! The dish was good, so I am definitely going to go back and try some of their other dishes. I didn't like the tortilla chips because they were not fresh. The salsa is different and good because it has a chipotle flavor. I recommend to others.... after I try a more complex dish then I will update my posting.

Horrible service. Went there on my lunch break and had to leave without eating because we waited for over 45mins. I ordered straight from the Lunch Menu too, you would think they would make those items with their eyes closed! I'm a very patient person and had never walked out of a restaurant before, not a good feeling. They even took a long time to charge us $6 for our drinks, but considering we wasted a whole hour in there, without food it would have been nice of the manager to comp that. The manager did give us a coupon for a free appetizer for our next visit, but since I don't think I'll ever return, I left the coupon on their counter. I also noticed a table close to ours sent their food back....not sure why, but they didn't look happy.

Good food, sometimes noisy, good service. The wife and I love the fish soup, the one w/sea bass. Very good flavor. 1 dinner order is almost enough for two people.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
