This place is terrible and foul yogurt is below par. Topping trays were not filled and every machine was blinking low mix. The staff was very unfriendly and lost. The strawberries were out and we were told we are closing in an hour sorry. Golden spoon use to have a great reputation. With competitions like fro-yo love and redcup around the corner I see this franchise going down hill quickly. I want to add a topping spoon fell on the floor I put it near the register she wiped it with a towel she just used to clean the counter with foul go to redcup

Love Golden Spoon!! They have really good flavors and they are really nice so you can try most of them. You pay by the size of the cup you get rather than by the weight, which is really nice. Their toppings are just what you would expect from a yogurt shop. So refreshing on a hot summer day!

I love Golden Spoon! I used to get it all the time growing up when we came to California on vacation to see family. I still make a point to try and go now as an adult when I'm in town mostly for nostalgia, but also because I genuinely like their yogurt (especially both the peanut butter and peanut butter cup flavors). This location was the first one I've seen that is a self serve Golden Spoon. Normally I love self serve fro yo, but I'm on the fence about it here. The whole point of nostalgia is to have the experience you remember and at Golden Spoon they always did the yogurt and toppings for you. Yes, I am more than capable of doing it myself and know companies have to keep up with the times. But I can do my own nails too and sometimes you would rather be treated!! Am I right?! All that being said, they are doing self serve in a way I've never seen done before. Everyone knows the normal routine of get your cup, fill it up, and weigh it for the price. Not here!! You pay BEFOREHAND. They ask you what size cup you want and if you want toppings. That's it! You pay one price and can literally go nuts after that. That's a pretty cool concept. I had a filled punch card from my last visit so I only paid $7 for both of our yogurts after they took mine off the bill. It's a good thing for people who overload their cup, but probably not for those who only get a little yogurt and teeny scoop of toppings because everyone pays the same prices. Still though, it's always nice to see someone going against the norm. I loved my peanut butter yogurt with small chocolate chips and Heath, but next time I think I will go to the Golden Spoon I love in Corona Del Mar where I hope they will serve it the old fashioned way!

Get your stamp card here!! Make sure to ask because they don't always tell you about it. This is one of my favorite golden spoons because you can serve yourself! So if you are not great at making the end swirl with the yogurt machine ask for help or a friend:) They have lots of yogurt choices and lots of toppings! I wish they had a bathroom for the public because if your hands get sticky their hand sanitizer doesn't really do the job! Very clean and friendly staff!

At the time of this review, this place only has three and a half stars. I'm not sure why that is...every time we come here, the yogurt is great and the variety is plentiful. We go to Menchies on a regular basis and this place is almost identical, aside from the sparse decor. The staff is helpful and polite and I always leave with a smile on my face. Take your family down here and grab yourself a cup of fro-yo. It's really good!

This place turned in to a sucky place to buy yogurt. Talk about stingy!!! You only get three little container of toppings for $10.00, really. Thank goodness we have topping at home to add! Who knows maybe the economy is bad, business is slows. Also the flow of the dispensers is very slow. Time is money so if your dispensers are slow you are going to lose money, not a good way to run a business. Okay it sounds harsh but the staff is great, the place is clean.

Been doing a lot of dessert places as of late. Usually this is confined to a few choice FroYo joints near my house, but there had been a couple of coupons for Golden Spoon in my wallet for over a year and every once in a while I find it necessary to thin the herd of gift cards down to a level where I can sit comfortably again with my billfold in my back pocket. So, we came to Golden Spoon with a buy one, get one free coupon. Don't let the 2-Star rating fool you, Golden Spoon is quite delicious, with fresh and tasty yogurt and a great selection of toppings. Normally, this place should be 4-Stars or maybe even 5 with the right service and the perfect blend of goodies. But that cost for everything ... it's one thing to pay much more for high quality dining; I have no problem with that. It's just that you get pretty much the same level of everything here that you would at places like Yogurtland; and Golden Spoon costs about twice as much. I still need to give them props for the good things. Their frozen yogurt choices are always yummy. A nice range of fruit flavors to saltier fare, like caramel pecan and such, and down to the decadent dark chocolates. Nothing ever has that strong artificial taste like Swirls has and each bite is clean. Their toppings are kept relatively tidy, though I have caught a few times where things are getting mixed without anyone taking care of the mess. But, they have great choices like crumbled Heath Bars, Fruity Pebbles, and Captain Crunch; I don't think I've ever seen a better array of toppings. Then, there's the bad side that drags them down. First, rare is the occasion I ever see more than one employee out front, and typically everyone always seems to be hiding in the back. You generally don't have to wait long for someone to come out the door to help, but during the long spans of time that no one is at the register, you get the impression that no cleaning is getting done and/or that the workers just don't care. And second, there is that high price tag. Again, Yogurtland is essentially just as good with almost as good topping selection for half the price. Even with our buy one, get one coupon, the bill was still over $6 for two small cups. If we had weighed them for cost elsewhere, the tag probably wouldn't have topped out much higher $3.50. And when you have friends and family that enjoy a small spot of froyo at the end of the day, that cost can add up fast even for those who don't pinch pennies. This wouldn't be a problem if Golden Spoon was mindbogglingly better than everyone else, but as it stands now, we gave the rest of our coupons away without complaint or reservation.

NO NO NO! What happened Golden Spoon?! Golden Spoon has always been my favorite Fro-Yo no matter what new Fro-Yo has emerged! I always kept coming back for their Heath Bar fro-yo even though I don't like the actual candy! Honestly no matter what flavor you get, they all have a smooth taste and doesn't taste super tangy like most frozen yogurts do. However, they completely changed and have turned it inside out, and conformed to the new fad, self-serve. Not only did the prices go up, but the containers are small and you serve yourself. Anyone who has gone to Golden Spoon before, the fro-yo people would do it for you which was wonderful because they had the special touch and made them sky high! Now I'm not such a big fan anymore. Costs more, self-serve so ultimately you don't get as much, and the cups are smaller. At least they still do the Stamp Card and after 10 stamps, you get a free fro-yo.

Well, that was a mistake. Frozen yogurt with my fiance on a random Tuesday night sounded like a nice suggestion of where to stop off at the end of our evening. This was my first and last visit to the Golden Spoon. Two little girls working, should have been my first clue to turn around but my fiance had been before and said it was good. I got cake batter frozen yogurt, with a little heath on top. As soon as I got past the candy I realized I could have just saved the money and gone and bought a Heath bar because the yogurt was bland as could be. I went up to the little topping cart and the little girl said, "Sorry, no refills, we have to charge you extra". I told her the yogurt in my cup (which I showed her was plain) was bland, and I wanted to put a little pineapple on top because it had no flavor. She said, "We'll have to charge extra for refills". I suggested to her then that I dump it out and get a different flavor because this did not taste good, I was not happy with it...broken record, child is incapable of independent thought..." We'll have to charge you extra". So, no replacement or suggestions for a paying customer unhappy with the product!? Anywhere you go, if someone is not satisfied, the policy is generally to replace the product. At the Golden Spoon, if you don't like your dessert, too bad. We'll keep your five dollars though. Oh, the best part, was when I asked the girls name and I asked the managers name, and the girl laughed at me. Great customer service.

Love golden spoon! This is self-service location with good rotation of flavors. We always find this one busy which is awesome because we don't want to see it go anywhere!! It is a great place for a sweet treat!

  • Kara K.

Always delish! We heart golden spoon and we have no idea why we even think about mechies, that place is horrible. This location is clean, the associates are so nice, there's always 2 people working which makes me feel good because that means they are safe and plenty of peeps to help service. The toppings are fresh the choices of flavors are always yummy! Great job!

HOLY CRAP this place has been here forever ;) I remember getting free yogurt coupons in elementary school to this place! It is now self serve, and you pay by the cup, not ounce! Their flavors are amazing, and they taste a lot richer than other places I've been! Definitely worth visiting!

First off.... I am not a yogurt fan. With that being said I love this place. I find the yogurt here slightly different from other yogurt places I have been to or force too. Hahaha The best part about this Golden Spoon.... It's MAKE IT YOURSELF. The staff is always super friendly and it seems like a local after sports hangout for the local high school. Reminds me of my high school days lol. I like to add a bottom layer of toppings before adding the yogurt and then go in a circular motion leaving space in the middle to sneak in some toppings. This way every bite has something different. Pro: Flavors are always changing sometimes you can have some amazing flavor combinations. Personally loved the pineapple, peanut butter cup, coffee and Mai tai sorbet ...... Delicious Con: Flavors are always changing... Hahaha sometimes there is only 1 flavor that is ok therefore ruining my flavor combinations. But it's ok since I know soon they will change again.

This Golden Spoon beats the one by our house by a million. Unique flavors and great selection of toppings. Super clean and equipped with leather sofas, arm chairs.

Self-serve Golden Spoon!!! My life is complete. And in danger. I might eat my entire body weight in Golden Spoon! The beginning is a little confusing because you pick your cup size and pay before filling your cup. No more scales of weighing the amount of toppings you pile into your cup of yogurt! :) Great location, well priced, and lots of flavors. I will be back - and SOON. PS. Please try the peanut butter chocolate - you will thank me later.

Used to work here before it was self serve. After the transition it changed drastically, employees were treated badly, and the yogurt quality went down, changed their recipes and all that. Overall it changed for the worst, stick with original Golden Spoons, not the self serve locations, might as well go to yogurt land.

    (2)
  • Christina M.

the actual frozen yogurt is DIVINE; however, i am only giving it 3 stars because i hate that they don't weigh it out ... if you go "fat kid" style (AND I ALWAYS DO HAHA) then you have to buy 2. and the the topping selection is slim too :( where are the cheesecake bites? snickers? mini marshmallows? however, despite all the cons, the fact that the yogurt is so yummy will keep me coming back from time to time. HOWEVER, i do believe that it's time to step it up and join the other shops and switch over to weighing it out ...

    (3)
  • Garry B.

Over priced, not friendly, poor service. Yogurt is good, selection of toppings is decent. If it's self serve then I shouldn't have to wait for the only employee to come our if the back to get a lid or bag. Or ask the customer when you are ringing them up. Didn't ask if I wanted a receipt. Poor service and over priced. You'd think if they only have one employee the prices would have went down since they remodeled.

My kid and I love this place. The flavors change often so you never get bored! They offer everything from the classic vanilla and chocolate to fruity flavors and decadent tastes. They even offer dairy free, gluten free, sugar free, non fat and low fat on certain flavors for healthier options! The topping buffet is just as exciting as the changing flavors! Reasonable pricing. One set price per ice cream container size so load it tall and squeeze it all in there! Service is great! Very kid and family friendly. Convenient shopping center parking.

EVOLUTION we tried to go to our FAVORITE privately owned froyo in Carlsbad but they we under repair (looks like someone thought it was a drive-thru). so our second choice was this Golden Spoon~time was an issue, it was close to 10pm (mid week) well, i am pleased that my daughter suggested it. it has the same fantastic tasting yogurt but the vibe is nice now. no more ugly wallpaper. they are changing with the times. giving the customers what they want. comfortable couches and nice decor. this store is one of the few self-serve Golden Spoons. You pay first and then try not to make too much of a mess helping yourself. the cost is a bit higher than our local Golden Spoon but i believe it is a nice change. i highly recommend. BTW~heard a rumor that the Golden Spoon on Oceanside Blvd closed but I am not sure.

Nice place to grab a yogurt, not too stoked on the weight and measure method but it is what it is!they have many options for flavored and a bunch of toppings!

    (3)
  • Lauren L.

I can't tell u what flavor to get because everyone's likes something different. The o my benefit of the self serve is that u get to taste as many flavors as u want without holding up the line. They switch out the flavors every week or so and the flavors are great. They aren't too tart like most froyo. Unlike most self serves they offer small cups so u don't end up eating a pint of yogurt and a cup of toppings like u do when they charge by the weight. I think it speaks to the quality of the yogurt. Yum.

    (5)
  • Adriana M.

Expensive! I prefer the pay per ounce idea. We were in the area so stopped by. My son bought regular size for $5 and my daughter a mini size $3(?) then for a topping it's $1 more. $10 seems steep when you are only selecting one topping. When we go to Menchies it's $7 for two medium sizes cups with much more mixed in.

Omg I have not seen a business change this dramatically and blow me away so hard ever This new wide open wood floor look with super cute seating is fantastic Flavors like red velvet and graham cracker are out of control good Bravo

  • James F.

Good stuff. Unlike most self-serve yogurt places that charge by weight after you get your frozen yogurt and toppings, this place charges by the cup size up front, with a topping extra charge. So if you just want yogurt, no need to spend the extra buck on toppings. They had a nice variety of yogurts for our gang, and I got three: coconut, peanut butter and chocolate malt. All good, and i picked out some nice toppings to match, so i was quite content with my selection - a regular size with toppings is $5.00, and you might as well load up the cup as full as you can. Thumbs up!

    (4)
  • Brent K.

Solid selection of flavors and toppings. It's a flat rate model, so no weighing. You can get as much as you can fit in a bowl that comes in three sizes. Difference between the pay-by-weight is you have to decide how much yogurt you want beforehand, and select the appropriate size bowl/cup. Kind of like a one-visit buffet. Those complaining about the price are idiots. You pay beforehand and can clearly see the sizes. If you buy a medium and fill it halfway, that's your own fault. It's not a ripoff because you can't figure out how to appropriate value. If you pay 5 dollars for yogurt, and then serve yourself 3 dollars worth, not really a fault of the business.

    (4)
  • Reagan D.

Okay, customer service was pretty good for a small frozen yogurt joint, the prices were reasonable, as the selection changes often which is nice. Here's the bad part... When you walk in the place looks pretty clean, but don't dare turn your head upside down to watch the yogurt come out of the nozzle! They definitely forget to clean the ENTIRE machines. There was just gunk and green stuff that could've been mold around and near the nozzles. Makes you wonder how clean the back of the store and the inside of the machines are.

  • April W.

I used to love coming here. I actually forgot it was here. I went in and was surprised. It was totally remodeled. And their way of doing business was new too. You pay up front. And you have to choose if you want topping before so they can charge you. I don't know if I liked it or not. But it was yummy.

    (3)
  • Caroleann B.

Wow, we haven't been to this location since they renovated. For some reason I feel like there is wasted space inside. They could use a few more tables and chairs inside. There is some outdoor seating. The customer service was excellent, very helpful and friendly. Because it was Mother's Day when we visited the employee was kind enough to give a discount for the mother of our group. The place is very clean, and they were on top of it when there was an area that needed to cleaned up. I would return if I were in the area.

Golden Spoon is my new go-to yogurt spot. Period. Let's get real for a minute. Taking the family out for frozen yogurt is not a cheap treat. My boys love to fill their cups with as much yogurt and toppings as humanly possible. By the time they get weighed, we're looking at an $8 dessert! That's why I love Golden Spoon. You walk in, pick a size and it's one price. No weighing involved. You can then fill your cup with yogurt and toppings to your heart's delight! And the yogurt. It's the creamiest stuff I've tasted! Not watery like others I've tried. The yogurt tastes exactly as its flavor. I tried the mango (who am I kidding, I tried all the flavors that day) and it was as if I was biting into one, it's that flavorful. The shop is really clean and has a few seating areas. I love this place!

I have been to the one in San Clemente and was honestly, not impressed... i prefer yogurtland or menchies because you can actually serve everything yourself and pay afterwards, with this you do not.

  • Jane W.

I came in last night to get yogurt for my family.. And was surprised to see the lack of team work. There were two people working.. A guy and a girl. The guy had 2 friends in there and was paying more attention to them than customers or helping the other girl. I got a simple "Hey how's it going" but then his attention was immediately re directed to his friends. These people were also very disruptive to my experience. I am trying to teach my young children how to act in public and even though they are older.. This was a horrible example for my children to witness. The other girl was the only one ringing people up.. U would think he would at least assist with other tasks. Anyway, I can't wait for menchies to open. Maybe that will be an experience where I feel like my business is appreciated.. By everyone who works there rather than just one person on the shift.

    (1)
  • Jasmina P.

Had a horrible experience. Firstly, you have to pay for the cup AND for the weight. Secondly, the frozen yogurt came out watery. The toppings were also disgusting. I highly recommend not going here. You're better off going to menchie's or swirlicious.

    (1)
  • Chris S.

This was our first time here. This is a small place with maybe ten flavors and six to eight toppings and maybe eight candy toppings. We got three regulars for $15.00. The Salted Caramel and Cookie a batter is very good. They have tiny sample cups. I especially like the fact they had a sink with paper towels to clean your children afterwards. The girl working there did a excellent job keeping everything spotless. It was a nice experience.

    (3)
  • Gabriella A.

Did not like it all. There was not a very big selection for flavors of the yogurt. The flavors did not taste good and it didnt taste fresh. It tasted like syrup flavoring of some sort. Would not reccomend this place to anyone.

    (1)
  • Daniel P.

OMG I love this place!! The peanut butter is amazing and the salted Carmel and the cake batter

    (5)
  • Jacqueline C.

Over priced! I went in and paid 5 bucks for a regular size... Granted you can put as much of anything in that cup as you would like but that's not why I went there. So I get my froyo and then go to add toppings and they didn't have a wide selection of them at all. Minimal.

    (3)
  • Stephan C.

Four stars, but could easily go five. Ok, 5 Stars! My daughter loves this place :) We go here often and are never disappointed - always happy!! My trick is to order a medium (cause I don't want to be a pig and get a large) then pick out three flavors with my favorite on the bottom for last. Fill and tap fill and tap and fill er up!! Ask for a lid (nice big dome) and squeeze that lid on there and you'll walk away feeling like a rock star - golden plastic spoon and all! Great Frozen Yogurt Too - almost forgot that part!

  • Leena K.

Got fro-yo from Golden Spoon just a couple of hours ago, and they changed the whole business way of doing things. There is a store near the Solana Beach "boardwalk" and it is called Yummy Yogurt and they tell you to get a styrofoam bowl; small, medium, or large; put any kinds of flavor(s) you want; any topping(s)/no topping(s); and then to weigh the bowl to guess the price. The only thing that Golden Spoon doesn't have is the weighing the bowl for the price. It is amazing! Golden Spoon doesn't use their styrofoam cups/bowls anymore. They use paper, like a hard cardboard used for the packaging of goods. It makes it taste better because you don't get pieces of the bowl floating in your frozen yogurt. And when the yogurt melts, the bowl doesn't fall apart in your hands. This is what I recommend: I got Mint, Chocolate Malt, Salted Carmel, and Coffee. I love the Coffee and the Mint together! I got Gummy Bears and Oreo's sprinkled on top! (You don't have to get the Gummy Bears and the Oreo's, Just try the Mint and the Coffee!) I am 15 years old, and I love my Fro-yo!!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Laura D.

The fro yo has very strong flavors not watered down or milky at all and I love it. The place is really clean and has a casual coffeehouse vibe. It would be a fantastic place to bring a first date. The fact that it's by the cup and not weighed is good to. Love this joint!

  • Tammy T.

I thought it was a bit pricey. Customer service was fine. I think Red Cup is much better!

  • Euro C.

Had to ask the girl making my dessert to wash her hands before making it after I watched her empty the trash can and not wash up. Disgusting! This was 2 years ago and I will never go back.

    (1)
  • Sayaka B.

It was first time that I did not have to weigh my yoghurt,...you pay about 6dollars for unlimited topping and all!!! ugh I normally ended up $10 in Japan since I put too much on my cup!!! here no worries..pre paid so!

    (3)
  • User A.

Today is 6/4/14. Time: 2:30 Whoever the girl at the front was was just plain rude and lazy. Get employees that actually care about service.

    (2)
  • Melina S.

I've been here two times. Mainly to satisfy my frozen yogurt craving. I read reviews about new charges on toppings, but when I went (about a week ago) that wasn't in affect anymore. The toppings are great and so are the frozen yogurt flavors. One thing I do appreciate, is the stamp cards. When it comes to your free cup, unlike most places, they don't make you choose the less expensive cup (if you're with someone else), you can choose whichever one you want to be free.

    (4)
  • Ray S.

I like this place. It's not too expensive, they have several good choices and plenty of toppings. There is not much for seating in the building as it is fairly small but get a little lid for your cup and you're good to go!

    (4)
  • April R.

I feel like I am part of that Seinfeld episode with the frozen yogurt, there is no way this can be fat free!!! It is super creamy and cold and flavorful. I like that they have many different choices, not just the regular normal flavors. You can load the cup up as much as you want and it is the same price.

    (3)
  • Brittany A.

Came here one night with my brother and his girlfriend. This was my first time seeing the whole new "Yogurtland" system implanted into Golden Spoon! I can't speak for the yogurt, but they DO offer non-dairy options (depending on the location) and to me, that's fabulous for everyone who is allergic to dairy and wants to join in the fun with their friends who are going to get yogurt. You can just dump a ton of stuff on top of your yogurt cause it's a set price in the beginning--so it's great in my opinion. I even told the guy that I hadn't filled up my yogurt all the way in the beginning (which was true) so he let me go back and get more. It was just a memorable experience for my non-dairy self.

  • Dava B.

LOVE CAKE BATTER :) They always have a variety of flavors and toppings and a nice staff!!

    (5)
  • Christopher M.

Yogurt is great but the service is terrible!!!!! The woman at the counter was not very helpful and barely knew what was large and medium. Guess that's why she works there.

    (3)
  • Shannon M.

Okay, this is by far the superior yogurt shop. Extensive amount of flavors, haven't seen too much variation in the three plus times I have been there - but all the staples that i love. Price is per cup (as opposed to weight). I saw a woman make the most of a $4 small piling it up to about 8 inches tall. Quality yogurt, cute shop, convenient location. Yogurt has been always fresh and establishment is very clean.

  • R C.

SORRY GOLDEN SPOON. Your product is the best but your business has become a JOKE! $1 to have toppings? After paying $3 for a tiny cup of yogurt you now ask us to spend more money for toppings. As we sat and gobbled up our yogurt another family with 3 kids walked in and expressed their disgust at upcharging for your product. Come on Golden Spoon...sad to say bye to you but ADIOS!!!!

    (1)
  • Robert Y.

Poor service and new charges on toppings. Boo. Not going back.

So the wife says, "I could go for some ice cream..." After a long Memorial Day weekend of eating bad i think no way am I gonna eat ice cream. But the inner fatty in me says ice cream sounds does pretty good. Lucky we were by golden spoon so I could feed the inner fatty and not feel too guilty about it. Golden spoon has good fro-yo pretty creamy and great flavors. However charging extra for toppings is not cool. (I hear a yelp check in offer idea)

    (4)
  • Cami K.

First time here and loved it! The cashier Marisa was super nice and the customer service was AMAZING!!! Did I mention it's also self serve! So I tried all of the flavors before deciding on a mix of FIVE flavors! Definitely will be back whenever the frozen yorgurt craving kicks in and for $4 a cup and filling the cup up as high as you can with whatever you want, the craving is bound to kick in often :)

    (5)
  • Bella S.

Love love love this place! They are constantly switching out the flavors to keep you on your toes. The staff is friendly and they do a good job of keeping the place tidy.

  • Richard T.

Sometimes I feel like I am the youngest person living on my block, and truth be told, I probably am for this area. Golden Spoon makes AWESOME frozen yogurt! The people who work here are super efficient and friendly. Maybe it's just this location, but, almost every time I am here, they seem to have to put up with a super duper demanding customer. I've seen some of the ladies who come here behave like totally mean "WORD(rhymes with stitches)" to the counter staff. Why so much drama for frozen milk?! With that in mind, I find myself more frequently going to the UTC Golden Spoon.

    (4)
  • Sacita D.

Golden Spoon has the best flavors out of every frozen yogurt shop I've been to. I also find that they are so filling, I really only need a teenie cup to get my sugar fix. Tip: Get a stamp card for crying out loud and save it in your wallet! Who doesn't love a free treat?!

    (5)
  • Katie B.

Who doesn't love frozen yogurt? Theirs is pretty good. The girl that was working when I went in was very busy, but very nice. The yogurt itself is really good. I wish there were more toppings and that they were easier to get out. They have them on these machines you have to turn on the wall, and they come out really slowly. When they finally get out, half the time they're all crumbled up because of the machine. Definitely not how I wanted my rainbow sprinkles!! Overall it was good, just a little frustrating when it came to the toppings.

  • Vivian W.

For the month of August, everyday is "free scoop" day! I didn't even know that until I visited this store today for a little bite of sweet. Golden Spoon doesn't have a bijillion flavors like other yogurt shops but have 10 of decent if not popular flavors. Most of them were nonfat, a handful were lowfat, and one that was sugar-free. I had the peanut butter yogurt with dark chocolate sno-caps and since it's "free scoop" August, I got an extra dumppage of sno-caps for free! But you can mix or match your toppings. The yogurt itself had this rich peanutty taste which I liked. The mini size proved to be more than enough for me. Very satisfying and yummy!

Golden Spoon is the best frozen yogurt! I've been having it since I was a kid, and still go with my mom when we are out and about. They have the best flavor out of all the frozen yogurts, I know the "in-thing" is tart yogurt, and Golden Spoon has some really good tart flavors now too! And they don't give me the weird aftertaste I had with the other brands. I alternate between tart and regular frozen yogurt: Pomegranate Blueberry & Simply Tart & Tart Mango or Fresh Blueberry are delicious! Mochi and fruit toppings are great on tart yogurt. And then of course the standards: Chocolate Malt, Old Fashioned Vanilla, even the No Sugar Added French Vanilla is delicious. They even have a non-fat/sugar-free chocolate fudge topping that tastes good! I love Heath Bar & peanut butter cup topping on Old Fashioned Vanilla. Ummm, yes please!

I do not like the new self-serve shops. The yogurt now "comes with" all the toppings included in the price. I liked the yogurt without any toppings. Now they are WAY more expensive, just in case you want toppings. Also, they have taken the best toppings away from your choice. BAD business move. I am going elsewhere. Spoonful now $3.00 Cupful now $4.00 etc

It's frozen yogurt, it's 'healthy,' it comes in defeating-the-purpose portions. Look, people, it isn't Cold Stone, we all know that. But for what it is - acidophilus and candy toppings, hurrah - it's pretty darn good. That's right, it's PDG. I recommend making it extra delicious by adding whatever candy topping suits your fancy. You can do that because the yogurt part makes it healthy. Additionally, if you're as indecisive as I am, you'll be glad to know that you don't have to decide on any one of the plethora of flavors - you can do more than one flavor per cup. Might I suggest a peanut butter and strawberry combo? It's like a PB&J sandwich. BUT IN YOGURT FORM. It's a courageous flavor combination. Recommended only for those individuals who own safari vests or feel they could drive with their eyes closed.

Overpriced. We couldnt get the toppings out. The yogurt came out really really fast. Just a struggle for what should be an easy self serve

LOVE....LOVE....LOVE this Golden Spoon! I live in Oceanside near a Golden Spoon, but drive out of my way and a lot further to go to this location by the El Camino Real mall. Why? It is self serve, you can make your frogurt as big as you want and add all the topping that you want! I definitely get my money's worth here! They have many choices of frogurt and toppings, but I always get the same -- vanilla with Reece's peanut butter cup pieces -- boring, maybe, but always delicious!!!!

Seriously, As Good As It Gets! Clean environment, friendly staff, delicious frozen yogurt and a grand selection of toppings. Having this less than a mile from the house is dangerous, but I guess we only live once. Thanks for being there Golden Spoon!

OVERCHARGED MY CARD... Come on. I just had one cup of froyo and it is difficult to make a mistake... If you are gonna get froyo here, you might wanna use cash or keep receipt with you.

I love getting frozen yogurt here! They don't always have cupcake flavored yogurt but when they do I am all over it. Only drawback though is the decor. Needs some remodeling.

I love frozen yogurt and have had a lot of it in the past and was expecting great things from this "Golden Spoon" place I kept hearing about. It was ok. The frogurt wasn't anything out of the ordinary and they didn't offer a wide selection of toppings and other yummy things to enhance the flavor of the yogurt. The service was fast and friendly and made me feel happy to just be inside the store. 3.55 for a small frogurt with one topping.

It's dairy base. It's creamy for nonfat frozen yogurt. You pick your size, the flavor , then the many many toppings. It's about 3 dollars a cup w/ toppings... Their flavors change weekly, i think. Or monthly. I do like how the employees wash their hands each time b4 waiting on the customers. I also like how the employees ask for id when you use your credit card, not enough places do that. It's ok. good enough to satisfy the cravings.

Great stuff - they need to bring some down into the City of SD so that I don't have to go so far for my favorite goody! Awesome Fro-Yo, fast and friendly staff. In fact, they actually saw someone hit my car while pulling into the parking lot and helped me file the police report. Talk about going the extra mile! Prices are reasonable, fro-yo really isn't "cheap" anywhere so this price is average. Good selection of toppings and a clean store. What more could you ask for from an ice cream shop?

The selections of the yogurt are good, but the toppings leave something to be desired. No hot fudge, no Oreo, no Heath, etc.... even the cookie dough bits lacked flavor.

Got way more yogurt than I had expected for a small cup. It ended up being my dinner! Still wished I had the option to self serve. Live close by so Im def coming back.

This Golden Spoon is alright--the portion size is smaller than the GS off Avenida Encinas. The guys that work there are friendly--I often see old ladies flirting with them. But they don't have as many flavors available and don't change the flavors as often as Avenida Encinas. But the yogurt sure tastes good!

The yogurt is good, but this location sucks. They always have one or two (and sometimes three!) machines down, so the selection isn't as good as some of the other locations. My new favorite flavor -- mango tart!

Golden Spoon is sooo much better than any other yogurt place. Ther stuff actually tastes really really good. I have way too many friends that love forzen yogurt, and it just doesn't do it for me. I'm a lacktard, and it's got to be really good to get me to suffer the consequences. Golden Spoon is that good, oddly enough my main picture was taken at this store over July 4th weekend, but I was here recently again during my drive to San Diego for lunch. Oooh and ask for toppings on the side. My friend Sharon though has this whole theory on who you should ask for topping on the side and who you can let put it directly on. But Im not their often enough to know the difference.

The land of the bourgeois. Don't waste your time on this yogurt crap, you are better off eating ice cream. When I went there, there was this lady complaining to the man that he had not put the "fat free" sauce on her "fat free ice cream." Get out of here. It not just the kind of clientle - the derelict student, the overly-rich woman, the spoilt child - that Golden Spoon draws that makes it a distasteful experience. The yogurt is nasty.

My fat boyfriend took me here. You'd think that since he was fat he would be an expert on good frogurt.

Maybe it was just the fact that I REALLY needed some ice cream, but this place is completely capably of satisfying my sweet tooth. The yogurt is fat free - always a good thing, especially because it actually tastes like you're eating something fattening. I made it a little more fattening with my addition of toffee bits, but I've got to say that the best combination for Golden Spoon's ice cream (in my very plain and non-adventurous opinion) is chocolate yogurt with granola. Oh man, that tastes so good. And I didn't find the place all that expensive. I would seriously take this place over ColdStone just because it's 1)cheaper, 2)better for you. I can't say that it tastes better just because I friggen love some of the creations at ColdStone, but Golden Spoon is wonderful.

About the only thing distasteful in this joint was the girl wearing only a bikini bottom dealing her crack while sitting in the stool of the front window at 9:00pm on a Monday night ... Once I was able to swallow that, the amazing yogurt they served up was D-LISH!

I would say below average. Some flavors are ok but you should at least try it once and see for yourself.

My fav's are the peanut butter, and vanilla or chocolate malt. I always get the granola and crushed graham crackers (low in fat).... and if I'm feeling disastrous I get the hot fudge.. yummmm...
