Good food, great service, price is right.

Americanized Chinese food, so what can I really say? We ordered a crapload of food for pretty cheap. Fried wonton (skin), chinese chicken salad (has peanuts for those with allergies), chicken chow fun, spare ribs in peking sauce, sweet and sour chicken, honey walnut prawns, tofu in oyster sauce. Total came to around $60. It was pretty quiet on a Saturday night, with a few to-go orders coming in. It's decent food that comes at a good price, and nice service.

I love this Place! The Ginger Beef is outstanding! Anne the owner works hard in this family business as does the chef her husband. My family and I have come here for years and are real fans. The hot and sour soup is phenominal, as is anything you order. My son loves Patrick the fish. Patrick will follow my son around the tank and play games with him. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant and I just can't say enough nice things about the food and the people who own it.

If you're looking for something fancy, and if you're going to be a food snob about 'authentic' Chinese food, then this place probably isn't for you. However, if you're looking for good fill-me-up American-ish Chinese food that's fast, cheap and with friendly service, then this is it! The same husband/wife couple has been running this place for over 15 years, and they've got the consistency down and have built a loyal repeat customer base. Some of their stand-out dishes are the honey walnut prawns and mushu pork, though the classic sweet and sour pork is also very good. The sauces they use are really delicious (I asked and they are homemade!) and the portions are great value for what you are paying. What I like most about this place is the mom/pop feel. The husband cooks and the wife is front of house/handles customer service, but you can tell they care about their customers and want them to enjoy their meal. They happily take your dietary requests into account if you tell them. The ambience is nice - usually quiet, good place for lunch specials in the afternoon. Definitely a great place in the neighborhood!

Can someone tell me why they serve the main dish in foil? The lunch special might have been decent but the foil thing just felt wrong. I got the house spicy chicken which tasted more like Thai food then Chinese but it was decent. The hot and sour, spring roll, and fried rice were all decent. Friendly service, ambiance is blah. main complaint besides the foil is that the lunch special is 7+$ and they charged me for the hot tea with my meal, grrr.

"That was actually pretty good" - my wife. We've been driving by this place for years but had been scared away by the giant banner out front. One time we did pull into the parking lot but could see that the place was empty so we didn't stay. Went for our first visit after reading other reviews and was impressed. Oriental Garden is a small neighborhood chinese place. We walked in at 6:30pm on a Sunday and were the only table, but there was a (shockingly) steady stream of take-out orders coming through. They really need to get rid of that banner, give the place some character, and draw in some customers. The menu was pretty broad but we ordered totally stereotypical westernized stuff: - orange peel beef (good, but should be spicier and needs less batter), - egg foo young (great), - chicken chow mein (great), - won ton soup (good), - steamed rice By the end of the meal two other tables had come in and given that the place had been so deserted, it actually led to some friendly cross-table conversation.

I found that restaurant from yelp and tried it. But very disappointed. take-out quality food and price is not attractive. I won't go that restaurant again.

Good Chinese food. Like the Mongolian chicken. chicken salad was mediocre at best.

  • C C.

Empty when we were there. Beef, pork, chicken dishes less than $10/dish. But extra $1.50/bowl for rice. Quantity was slightly on the small side compared to what we are used to at our Chinese restaurant in suburb of LA. Taste was good. Service good. It is your basic family run place trying to make a living with reasonable prices. I would recommend it as I do most reasonable family run restaurants in my own neighborhood...because they are neighbors, not corporations. (I hate P.F.Chang's, for instance.) So, support your reasonable local businesses.

Highly recommend the Honey Walnut Prawns and Prawn Chow Mein. The place is small but has great service. TRY IT!

Out of all the Chinese joints in the Campbell area, this one is the best. It doesn't look appealing from the outside; the strip mall is run down and they need to get rid of the giant banner out front. That said, the place is delicious and reasonably priced. They don't jip you on the quality or quantity of your food. The lady who runs the place couldn't be nicer. This is my go-to Chinese restaurant.

  • Ashley R.

This is a solid Chinese food experience for the area. It's become our go-to place for Chinese. Eggs rolls are not too greasy and noodles are yummy. General's chicken has been my go-to since I was a kid. It's not spicy here, even though there are chilis in it. Maybe it's just that they don't cut them up, but that's ok since I have toddler who likes to eat it too. So far we've like everything that we've had here, and it's worth a try if you live in the area.

I was so excited to find a new Chinese place, but the food I received was soggy and not crispy and tasted like it had been sitting out for an hour. I ordered orange chicken togo. I was so excited for it because of all the great reviews on yelp. I ordered it to go. I knew it would be not be hot when I got it home but my food was ice cold! And I only live 5 mins from here, my lunch should have been warm. And it was nothing special. The rice was okay and so was the spring roll.

Excellent - home style food. Family owned and operated. Stop by.

This place is a real hidden gem. I grew up with a pretty decent standard of Chinese food and have been looking for that level of quality and a great selection and this place has that in spades. The quality of the food is high, freshly cooked all at a reasonable price. If you're looking for no nonsense high quality chinese food get thee to Oriental Garden forthwith!

My hubby and I have been searching high and low for our 'go-to' Chinese restaurant. I agree with Abi U., the parking lot outside looks a little ghetto. I actually asked my husband if he wanted to go in. But we pressed on and it was indeed not as crowded inside as you'd expect, with the small space. We came here on a Friday night for dinner and there were no other dine-in customers when we arrived. The one lady they have working is nice and helpful. And the food was ok. But at the end of the day, Our opinion was that the Oriental Garden is ok. Not bad, but definitely not standout. We'll probably have to keep looking for the place we order from over and over. Sorry!

I have been going to this restaurant with my family for a few years now. I love it! The food is great, the service is amazing. The woman server and male chef are husband and wife and run the business together. The server is so sweet and friendly. Like I mentioned I go with my family. We have been going for about 5 years now and in that time I haven't found a place I enjoy better. My parents are very picky with Chinese food and had gone to several other places in the area before finally finding this place. It looks a bit run down on the outside, but the inside is very nice. Its never too busy, so the atmosphere is relaxing and personal. I highly recommend this place. My favorite appetizer is the chicken potstickers. I also enjoy the garlic pork and chow mein. I've tried many other dishes as well and have never been disappointed.

Meh, it was alright. Ordered pu pu appetizer to start, save your money - it was disappointing for the price and a bad way to start off. Walnut chicken was pretty good and also enjoyed Szechuan Beef, yay for spice! Serving sizes were not that impressive for the price. Probably ok for general take out more than eat in. Site is a bit dingy and run down, typical Chinese kitchen that you must walk thru if you need to use the restroom, yuck. I think the one lady was both the server and cook, weird. Will try my luck elsewhere..still in search of our "go to" Chinese food location. Enjoy Tsing Tao on San Tomas Aquino much better.

  • Chantal B.

Decided to just hop on the road and stop at the first Chinese place that had cars in the parking lot and hope for the best. First thing we noticed is that there were no Asian patrons... Usually not a good sign. Service was very friendly and the establishment appeared very clean. Started with the pot stickers and crab puffs. I love that you can order the puffs individually for a buck. They weren't bad... And the pot stickers pass the test as well. Fried rice was good. The sweet and sour chicken was not as crispy as I like, but had good flavor.

Three words: Bun Bo Hue!!!!!!!! Fourth word: Delicious!

  • Dave T.

What a disappointment! The Mushu pork was almost all cabbage, very little pork, and essentially egg roll stuffing. The pancakes were huge and tasty, but this dish was not worth $8.50. The Hot and Sour soup was bland, again had very little pork, mostly strips of tofu and a not-so-hot broth. But, the worst dish was easily the Black Bean Chicken - once again, very little meat, and at least 75% of the dish consisted of onions and brownish green peppers, all drenched in a soupy sauce. I hate to admit it, but even Panda Express blows this away.

  • Dale D.

I usually get take out here, and its usually very good overall. The food is always very tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. It's never very crowded so you won't have to worry about eating there if you choose. If you don't like fat, salt, sugar, or oil you can ask them to cook your food without it - or go light on the bad stuff. They honor those requests very well.

This place is a solid four star Chinese take out restaurant. I ordered the Orange chicken and some BBQ pork chow mein. It was ready in about 10 minutes, which is pretty quick. Service was good...I was the only person in the restaurant and the woman (who I understand is the mom of the mom and pop operation) was really pleasant. The orange chicken wasn't spicy but it had a subtle kick to it, which I liked. The chow mein was just a tad on the greasy side, but it was still enjoyable. I'm giving this a 4 instead of a 5 because although the food is good, all the items on the menu (including the dinner specials) are a couple dollars more than other places in the area. I'd be willing to pay the extra couple bucks if the the food was the best in the city, but it's just a shade above average. This would be my default Chinese place based on the food quality and proximity to my house if it weren't for the slightly higher prices ($20 for my two dishes...most other places around here these would be closer to $16). Portion size was about average...the food I got should be enough for two people to share for one meal and not be hungry later. The lunch menu was a bit cheaper and on par with what other places in the area charge. I'll probably check them out sometime to see what kind of portions they give. I'll probably be back for dinner too because there are other things that I want to try. All in all, nice little place that I'd recommend other people to try.

Discovered this place today! It is pretty clean, small and quite. Tasty food, really tasty! I liked all the dishes I've ordered. Big portions and very hospitable service. I strongly recommend it for everyone! Lunch time, family dinner - it doesn't matter!

I only eat at 2 chinese food restaurants in the bay area and this is one of them. Well, besides PF Chang's which I don't consider Chinese for some reason LOL. I guess that's like comparing Taco Bell to Mexican food. Anyway, I've been going to this place since 1996. The food is always good. I think it's a husband and wife team because I've only ever seen one person serving and ringing and I think she mentioned it. I don't eat in there anymore - used to be around the corner from work but I get do still get takeout. No matter where in SJ I've lived, it's worth the drive. The hunan chicken is so good (I ask them to take out the baby corns - they're creepy and no mushrooms and they always get it right), The broccoli beef is good too, really saucy.

  • Brittany S.

Excellent food. Sautéed orange chicken, sesame chicken , hot and sour soup is amazing. My favorite Chinese. As well as the fried rice (add your own soy sauce) love this place.

  • Abi U.

yummy. cons: the outside parking lot/shopping plaza looks a little ghetto. when i walked inside i seated myself because their one employee was in the back. those are all the bad things i have to say. good things: not cramped in here at all despite how small the restaurant is. the woman working was very nice and explained what was in a dish that my coworker was debating on trying. cheap price like the other chinese food places around the area. authenticity? ON POINT. just like mom's, or my friend's mom's... YUM! I ordered the oyster beef and was happy to see it drenched in sauce accompanied by my shitake mushrooms and baby corns. YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! i love! the hot and sour soup was more soupy than it was thick which was good. egg roll.. meh ive had better. i recommend! don't take dates here or anything. not fancy at all. just take out or lunch and you'll be fine.

I've been coming here for years and I haven't found a place with better hot and sour soup, crap cheese puffs, or fried rice. All the food is great, reasonably priced, great service, and surprisingly never crowded.

I'm here right now great service and better food the decorative fish are happy too

  • Ye H.

This is standard American-Chinese restaurant fare. I haven't cared for some dishes, however, there are some, like the walnut prawns and mu shu pork, that I find very good. I think that the "hot" food could be hotter. What I really do like is that they are a family, work very hard. and deliver pretty quickly. I have never eaten in the restaurant. One time, I called them right at closing time and they still made and delivered my dinner!

    (4)
  • Michelle C.

I grew up with this Restaurant. I loved their Hot and Sour Soup and the lunch special is also a excellent deal! The owner and his wife are always so friendly. I've pretty much tried all their dishes...it's just the BEST local Chinese Restaurant. Definitely worth a try!

  • Billy Q.

Give me a break. Calling this place "the best Chinese food in the Bay Area" is like calling Pizza Hut the best pizza in Chicago. Utter nonsense and ignorance. Don't take it personally, just get out more often. To be fair, like Pizza Hut, this place is not terrible. It's strictly American Chinese food, which is a steady diet of Something Chicken or Something Beef. This is sort of the Chinese food equivalent of the pepperonis pizza or the double cheeseburger, completely unimaginative and unrepresentative. It's also not the best Something Chicken/Beef you can find. Above average but not enough to make me want to go back. The restaurant is clean. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is warm. For better Chinese food, I suggest heading over to Milpitas or Cupertino. In general, find a place where you see Chinese people eating. This is the Bay Area. There are Chinese people everywhere. So if a Chinese restaurant doesn't have any Chinese patrons, you know it must not be very good or authentic.

The food is really great! The restaurant is clean and the service is excellent. PS: The fish is really funny too! ^_^

This is one of best chinese restaurants around. Their chicken salad is the best I've ever had. It is mom/pop store and they do a great job with the food and service. It is great place to take kids and also, the chow fun combo is a favorite.....feel like going to get some chinese food as I write. Ann, here I come.....

  • Jessica N.

BUG!!!! Big gross bugs crawling on the table and the walls.. You know the drill, "where there's one, there's 1000 more". Oh yeah, and the food is pretty greasy.

  • Bruce S.

It's definitely not fancy, but the food is consistently good. I go there for lunch about once a week and enjoy the quality, price, and friendly service. This is a restaurant run by a husband and wife team. He does the cooking and she does the dining room. My favorites are Walnut Prawns, Orange Chicken (no breading), Spicy Chicken with Fresh Basil, and the Black Bean Chicken. Their Hot and Sour Soup has set a standard for me. Don't be surprised by the lack of ambiance. The food and friendly service make up for the lack of decor.

    (4)
  • Jessica J.

It's not gourmet, but overall, it's still my favorite place for chinese takeout. The honey walnut prawns are my absolute favorite. Good size portions, affordable prices and efficient with takeout orders. Can't say that about all places so they will continue to get my business.

    (4)
  • Patrick B.

Great chicken salad, tangy vinegar dressing. Got flavor without being too heavy. Can't say I've tried anything else though. Super friendly staff and they get the food ready in a hurry during lunch.

  • Samhain M.

The cashew beef should really be called zuchinni beef, but their food is pretty solid. I've eaten here about 20 times, good experience each time. Nothing special, but a nice place.

  • Imelda P.

If I want incredibly delicious Chinese cuisine, this is the place that I go to. It is the best place in the South Bay hands down, in my opinion. When I relocated to Mountain View and tried out a couple of the restaurants on Castro Street, I knew then and there, I'd be driving back out to Campbell for quality dining. I've never been disappointed in their service or menu options. They are closed for the time right after lunch until dinner time, however. If you can make it in for a lunch special, it will be the best meal you've ever spent $5 for! Lunch meals include soup, egg roll, tea and your main dish served with steamed or fried rice. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. This place is a real culinary jewel, if you don't mind the lack of ambience. I love it.

I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food, but when I eat it...it has to be Oriental Garden. They have a good variety on their menu. I really like the Hot & Sour Soup and Orange Chicken.

  • Amar D.

Couple of things about this place.. - I get take out for lunch a couple times a month and the food (kung pao chicken, mongolian beef) is always very good. It comes with steamed rice, an eggroll and hot and sour soup. -They have an awesome fishtank as your enter the place with a flowerhorn cichlid that's very friendly/playful. -The lady at the counter is always incredibly professional and easy to talk to. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a tasty and affordable local Chinese food place.

Did Carry-Out from here tonight. Went in, ordered, had a glass of wine while I waited. The hostess was very friendly. I didn't wait long. Had the following, Really great! General Tao's Chicken, Veggy Springrolls, Steamed Broccoli, Dry Green Beans. Go here. It all was great. Proud owners. Thanks, I'll be back.

Customer service is excellent. Food tastes good but needs a better meat to vegetable ratio. I order Mongolian beef, not Mongolian veggies.

  • Irene Z.

Arrived on a Saturday night at 8pm and the restaurant sign says "closed." Went inside to see if it was a mistake, but no one was around. Waited around for 5 minutes since there were customers inside. About 7 minutes later a lady comes out on the phone taking a to-go order and completely ignores us. She gets off the phone and walks to the back kitchen. We just left at that point...clearly they did not want our business. Won't be back again.

I've been coming here since i was a little girl and whenever I am in the mood for Chinese food, here the place to go! I tried so many Chinese restaurants and none compare to this place! I just keep coming back to this place because honestly, their food quality is pretty damn good here! Plus their food prices ain't that bad either. This place will forever be the restaurant i'll be going to for chinese food

  • Terb S.

I just can't find a solid non Americanized Chinese restaurant in the South Bay. I knew when we opened the box of Hunan Beef that we found another glorified Panda Express. The Hunan Beef had jalapeño peppers rather than the traditional Chinese peppers. The beef was non traditional Hunan style. The chow mien was just blaw and over cooked. If you enjoy Panda Express, you will like this place. Just not good. One star is the best I can give.

Service was pleasant and quick. Food was tasty. Tried the honey walnut prawns and lemon chicken. We'll be back!

I saw that the reviews of Oriental Garden Restaurant on Yelp were very favorable and so I decided to have lunch here today to try it out. The restaurant is located in an old strip mall. The restaurant is somewhat small, which seats about 30 - 40 people. The restaurant was half full when I arrived. The lone waitress appeared busy, but she escorted me to a table immediately upon arrival. The decor is minimal and plain, but the place was fairly clean! My table, plates and silverware on the table were also clean! Good start! I ordered the Mongolian Spicy Beef lunch special, which consists of Mongolian Beef, fried rice, vegetable eggroll, and a small bowl of Hot 'n' Sour soup. I also ordered a bowl of Minced Beef in Egg White Soup. First at my table was the Hot 'n' Sour soup. It was OK. The flavor was good, but the temperature was not as hot as I would have liked. Next was the vegetable eggroll. It was a bit disappointing. It lacked salt and flavor. The Minced Beef in Egg White soup was next to arrive. It arrived pipping hot, just the way I like it! It was nicely seasoned and the beef was tender. It was a very good soup! Will definitely order again when I return. Last to arrive was the Mongolian Spicy Beef. It was a very good dish! The beef was really tender and flavorful! Another dish worthy of ordering again on future visits! The service was very good! Although there was a lone waitress, she was able to handle a fairly busy restaurant. She was very professional and efficient. Overall, this was a successful visit! Oriental Garden is not fancy by any means. It is not the best Chinese food I've ever had. What they provide is great customer service and a solid menu of familiar Chinese dishes. I don't always agree with the majority of Yelpers, but they "hit the nail on the head". I also give Oriental Garden 4 stars! I look forward to my next visit! Update: 5/22/2015 Returned today shortly after lunch. Not too busy this time around. Just two other customers dining when I arrived. I ordered two dishes which I frequently order in Chinese restaurants that I try out. I had the Wo Won Ton Soup and the Chicken Salad. The Chicken Salad arrived first. I was astounded at how sweet the vinaigrette dressing was! I couldn't help but think of sugar on almost every bite. The pieces of chicken were very good. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The chicken was the best part of the dish. However, it could not save the dish from disappointment! The sweet dressing overwhelmed the dish if not ruined it. The salad would be better served with the dressing on the side, that way the customer can control how much of it covers the salad. Another thing I hope they would consider is offering as option to have a spicy mustard dressing rather than the sweet vinaigrette. I for one would love to have that option! The Wo Won Ton Soup arrived about 5 minutes later. It was pretty good. The broth was nicely flavored and it was pipping hot! Very nice! It had about 8 won tons, veggies, and pieces of chicken. It wasn't the best Won Ton Soup I've ever had, but it was good. Due to the failure of the Chicken Salad, I would have to down grade my rating for this place to 3.5 stars. But will round off to 4 stars to maintain my 4 star rating of Oriental Garden.

1st time here ordered a lunch special takeout. Called over the phone, nice lady the look of the place outside was mediocre you'd drive by it without noticing. Got honey walnut prawns with fried rice, egg rolls, and hot and sour soup for $11! Food was solid, prawns we're just ok not the best but for a lunch special and fair portion it passes.

New to town and Chinese so looking for a new go-to place. OG missed the mark for me--outside looked a little sketch, lone fish in the tank was sad and they were out of one of the dishes we ordered. The wallpaper is worn and looks a little like an old school China-town type restaurant. I am totally good with that if the price and food reflects that. Veggie dishes were around $10/plate so meat/seafood was higher than I expected. Something was off on the price/value equation for me on the dine in. Food and portion size were just ok. Waitress was nice enough. Maybe this is a take-out fav? I usually only post positive reviews but felt like I should help others when Yelping for guidance. Sad to not be thrilled after a cherished dinner out with the fam!

I am very happy and pleased to find a local Chinese food restaurant that I would be willing to go back to (or even order takeout). Service was a little slow even though we were the only ones there (one lady who works the floor and one cook [I'm assuming]). I did feel bad for the cook since s/he took forever for the take out orders (one guy was waiting there for almost the entire time we were there to eat in). The food was good though, so I'd definitely come back. Ordered: - Beef Chow Fun - Kung Pao Chicken

Was skeptical of this place.... Was a good thing I was open minded. Ordered to go: sizzling rice soup, seafood and mixed veggies, Kung pau chicken, and beef fun. When I went to pick up the food its in an older complex/plaza. When I walked in I saw all old white folks so I was oh ooo its catered to non asian folks. Waited a few min and got my food. Was greeted right away, decor inside is a bit out dated maybe why there is a lot of old peeps in there?? Came home first thing I ate to get my expectation was the beef chow fun. If they can't make chow fun then I'd expect the meal to be bad. Chow fun was spot on!!! Nice and greasy I love it!!! Spoo good!! Wife started with the soup and loved it. Feed some to our daughter and she loved it too. Kung pao on the spicy side was food and the seafood was nice and buttery. Had fresh crab in it so that was unexpected treat!! I guess my next test would be to see if their hot n sour soup is good since I need place to get this when I get sick. Will come back again.

My husband and I went here for an impromptu date night. We were so surprise by how such a small quiet restaurant could be so amazingly awesome. The food was so wonderful. The server was so nice and attentive but respectful of us. It is really too bad more people don't know about this place. I would give this place 10 stars if we had that option.

    (5)
  • Matt G.

Very disappointed. The service was very very slow. The food was bland and not very tasty, the broccoli in the broccoli beef was tough, and the fried rice was flavorless. Definitely will not come back

If you are looking for authentic Chinese food, this place is a no-go. The food tastes okay but not great. Only reason we keep going back is because the ingredients are fresh. And...2 dishes...Orange chicken and fried prawns. And if you love spicy food, this place does not cook anything spicy. Soup is not so great. Overall, I only go there when my friend wants to go.

  • Nicole G.

What can I say.. it's not bad. Would I come knowing I had company, no. Been here twice and it was a hit and miss. 2.5-3 stars Ordered the war wonton and there was no war going on in my soup. Veggies were fine, as were the wonton but it was lacking meat. Also ordered the orange chicken and it wasn't spicy or crispy. Felt like I was eating fried batter mostly. However, their chow mein and shrimp and broccoli are both good. Both had a good amount of meat, noodles had the right chew and the broccoli had that prefect bite. Oh and the hot and sour soup was pretty tasty to. (Comes with entree and veggie egg roll) Place is small and service can be a tad slow. But the server is nice just hangs out in the back to much. Probably helping putting things together.

So far everything I've tried has been good. It's a little sketchy outside but nothing too worrisome. Most people do takeout instead of staying but the staff is really nice, so there's no reason not to stay. They are fast too! With pretty good lunch specials till 2:30.

This place is so delicious! My favorite: - Chinese chicken salad - Sweet and sour chicken - Chicken chow mein This place better for pick up. The inside environment is usually too quiet for me. They are super nice and very fast though!

My favorite Chinese restaurant in the South Bay. They do mostly take out orders so usually not many people inside. What to order- - walnut prawns, my fav item on the menu. Almost like tempura battered prawns with a mayo base sauce - sizzling rice soup, yummy standard clear broth Chinese soup with rice that is added in at the table for a nice sizzle - chow fun, just all around yummy deliciousness - moo shu pork, healthy portion and good pancake wraps The lady who owns it is really great. The wait for food can take a while since they have so many take out orders.

I really liked it. Came here for the first time on Christmas eve. The staff was a little stressed and we waited for our food, but it was worth the wait! definitely going back. the won ton soup was delicious! fresh wontons, hot and sour...great, and a beef noodle dish that was amazing along with mooshu... I was impressed. Wasnt expecting such fresh food.

Food portions kind of small food a little too salty but it was served hot the place kind of dirty not a very good neighborhood. You have to pass through the kitchen to go to the bathroom not a very pleasant walk. I have no idea how this place got four stars. The food kind of all tasted similar but the service was excellent. 2 to 2 1/2 stars maximum I'm going to round up to three the service was great. Personally I will never go back.

Pretty decent Chinese food if you are in the area or want Chinese take out! The only complaint I had was that I was NOT a fan of the Hot and Sour Soup (which is usually a make it or break it for me.) However, everything else from the pot stickers to the chow mien was DELICIOUS! I will definitely be gettin take out from this establishment again.

Poor food quality & not worth the money. The ambiance is just OK & the food was bland. Prices are very high. Costed $30 for noodles, rice & an entree. Better food is available elsewhere for reasonable prices. Not worth a visit.

I don't necessarily think this is a hole in the wall gem BUT it has a few great things going for it. First of all the owner (did not catch her name) is really sweet. She came to our table many times, quick with refills, and overall a very kind woman. Although the restaurant is old and needs updating desperately; the decorations and place settings were really clean. Silverware was shiny. Even the way the table was set up with the tea cups turned over the fork let me know that cleanliness is a priority to them. Always a good thing when eating out. Also, the food is fairly affordable. We ordered a salad, 2 main dishes, and rice for $29 but came home with lots of leftovers. The chicken salad had the best fried chicken on it! I wasn't much of a fan of the dressing (too sweet) but I couldn't stop eating it since the chicken was so tasty. The other two dishes were good. What I like seeing the most is how many people there were regulars. I actually think we were the only ones who weren't. There's got to be something great about a place when a customer says they come in at least once a week.

It's a small family run business near my new home and I so wanted to give it at least 3 stars but I can't. We just moved to Campbell so we were in search of a good Chinese restaurant nearby for our takeout night Fridays. So we searched ... 4 stars on Yelp ... albeit there were only 58 reviews ... can't be that bad. I think we will drive further next time. We ordered hot & sour soup, spareribs with salt & pepper, and beef chow fun. The flavour of the soup was blah. The spareribs were flavourless literally. The noodle was lumpy. I wish we were within driving distance to 626.

Wow...Is it really that hard to get decent Chinese food in the Los Gatos area?? We came here on a Saturday night and ordered take out. The owner was very helpful and accommodating. That is where the goodness ends. The food really needs work. We ordered kung pao chicken, steamed dumplings, yellow curry chicken, steamed chicken and mixed vegetables, chicken with broccoli and sweet and sour chicken. All for the low low price of $90!!! The ironic thing is that the best tasting item was the curry chicken. Everything else was either to greasy or over coked. Save your money and go to an all you can eat place..you will get more variety, and hopefully better food. #Yelp100

We went here last night and it was great! I now have a great place to go and the kids loved it too! We had sizzling rice soup, hot & sour soup, orange chicken and mongolian beef. Everything was delicious!

If you want good Chinese food you should stop by Oriental Garden. We love the house special chow mein & house fried rice. The pot stickers are also good. Service is always great & fast.

I love this place ...the waitress & cook are wonderful! I've come here with friends & family for years! One thing I'd change is the heavy plastic dividing- type curtain leading to restroom......it is time to replace it, Please!

I tried this place for the first time with my parents recently. My parents (in their early 60s) are very picky eaters, but they really liked this place. We had sizzling rice soup, combination fried rice, chicken chow-fun, shredded spicy pork, and monoglian beef. Everything was very delicious. We didn't get majorly thirsty (MSG attack) afterwards, which was a bonus.^^ We plan on being their regulars now.

My husband and I just moved to Campbell and we were looking for a good Chinese restaurant. After going onto yelp we found the Oriental Garden Restaurant and once again yelp came through. The food was great, fresh and flavorful. The eggrolls, hot and sour soup, Mongolian beef were the best parts of the meal. We will be back again soon.

Fresh ingredients, healthy portions and not overly oily is what I look for in Chinese food. This place does it all. And family owned. They know my voice when I call and always greet with me with a legitimate smile and give great service. Recommend chow mien, spicy chicken and veggies and Mongolian. Hard to go wrong. Enjoy.

Best Chinese food in the area. My dad was craving Chinese take out and I yelped and found this place. We ordered on the phone and the lady said it would be ready in 20 minutes. We ran about 10 minutes late Anne our food was waiting for us. For the amount of food we ordered, it wasn't that expensive, and the food was very got and fresh. The worst thing about Chinese is that it can be greasy. This food was not at all greasy.... Maybe just the egg rolls but that's expected. My favorite was the chicken chow mien, the noodles are really thick and it was delish! My second favorite was the fried rice, again it wasn't at all greasy and you can tell that it was homemade with fresh ingredients. Everyone was polite and nice. We grabbed an official menu on our way out and will def be back!

Excellent value. Good food. Ambience not the best but very friendly service, like from Mom. The House Special chicken is a knock-out!

After my poor experience at Best Taste, I appreciate Oriental Garden a lot more. I'd give it 3.25 stars. I'm not sure why I rarely see patrons when I stop by as their food and prices definitely deserve better. As I stated in a prior review, after a rough day at work, I often order the hot and sour soup. I'll order a medium container and finish the whole thing. I like that it's always piping hot, has a lot of bamboo shoots and scallions that taste crunchy and fresh, and has the proper heat and egg ratio. I have ordered a sampling of the dinner entrees and found most to be decent. My one pet peeve is that some are filled with water chestnuts and I really dislike water chestnuts. I frankly consider them to be cheap filler when I just want more of the main entree item. It's a Mom and Pop restaurant and if it's the same restaurant owners of my youth, it deserves more patronage. I notice that they've recently put a big banner on the front and seem to be trying to advertise more.

Yummy food with great prices! I frequent this place almost every Tuesday for lunch with my coworkers since it's down the street from our office. They have great lunch specials that average about $7-$9 that include soup/salad & eggroll, white or fried rice and main dish. You can never go wrong with their beef and broccoli or honey walnut prawns. It usually comes out to be $15-$17 for two people, leaving us extremely stuffed each time. Service is great every time I've ever been here. Seems like a lot of people are regulars because the nice lady that takes our order seems to know what everyone's usual orders are. It can get busy but not overly busy where customer service is compromised.

3 years after my first visit, Oriental Garden still is my most favorite Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood as I keep coming back here for dinner take out after long day of work. Quality of food and service is always good and this is where I can always count on when I crave warm yummy food. Fried rice is here the best - perfect fluffiness not oily or dry. I recently discovered one of my most favorite veggie dish - Yu Shiang Broccoli. Fresh and crisp broccoli with very tasty soy based sauce. Hmmm yum. Even my husband asks for seconds.

Its fun to go in each time and reconnect with these amazing people. I love the vegetable tofu and the vegetable sweet and sour. Yummmy. Hope this helps.

This is our go-to place for take-out Chinese food for the past few years. I love it! True, it isn't "authentic", but it is good "American style" Chinese food. We order from here about once a month (would order more if we lived closer) and we get it every time we have a house guest, and every one has loved the food. We have eaten at the restaurant a few times, but I prefer take-out since we have a young kid to manage. My favorites: Moo-shu spicy three combo: A great Moo-shu with various meats, including shrimp. A little spicy, but not overwhelming. Something different than what I've had anywhere else. I always order a few extra pancakes. All of their moo-shu is good, but this one is fantastic and unique. Sweet & Sour Shrimp: All of their sweet & sour is good, nice and crispy, but their shrimp is perfect! Large, succulent pieces that have been well cleaned. Yumm! Dry Braised String Beans: Perfectly salty and savory green beans. Chinese Sausage Fried Rice: A deliciously simple and fluffy fried rice with nice slices of the slightly sweet Chinese sausage. Again, this is something you don't find everywhere, and I really enjoy it. A few things I didn't like here and usually do at other places: Yu Shiang Eggplant, Mongolian beef, Spareribs w/ Peking Sauce, and basically all of the appetizers. If you want some good American style (not Panda Express, yuck!) Chinese food, with nice service without the crowds, please give this place a try!

I've been a regular diner there since 1990. When I worked nearby, I had lunch there about twice a week. Now I have dinner here about bi-weekly, typically take-out. The same chef, Johnny, has been here the whole time. Consistency abounds. Ann, his wife, handles customer service. No one else works there, so far as I've seen. Both employees are friendly and efficient. My favorite dishes: * Hunan Chicken Breast * Szechuan Bean Cake * Moo-Shu Vegetables * Tofu with Asparagus, Spicy (Bring your own asparagus if it's off-season, and they'll cook it in, no questions asked.) * Hot & Sour Soup * Potstickers The sauces are amazing. Are they authentic? I don't know. I just know they make me want to lick the spoon and the plate. I think I've literally taken every date and everyone else I've known who came to town, including foreign visitors, to this restaurant. I actually did not like the food on my first visit to this restaurant, but it turned out that was simply because I did not care for the taste of the dish that I had ordered. I think it was curry chicken. Some months later I gave the restaurant another try, ordered something different, and the rest is history. They take some credit cards. I know they take VISA and they don't take AMEX.

The service here is good, but the food was quite terrible. Extremely greasy eggrolls, extremely greasy sweet-and-sour chicken, overall everything was greasy except for the cashew chicken. I personally will not be going back to this restaurant again, there're much better Chinese food restaurants close by and all around the Bay Area. The Egg rolls were so greasy that when you pick them up the grease was virtually dripping off of the crust, the hot and sour soup was okay but not the best I've had. I notice it was mostly senior citizens eating in this restaurant so maybe that's why the reviews are good. Maybe most of the reviews are coming from those types of people who typically frequent greasy buffets normally and have no good taste buds.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
