Diabetics at Pizza Hut

Pizza is neither a great meal nor the worst for diabetes. All you need is some fact check and monitoring while ordering your pizza. Diabetics can opt for thin crust or skinny pizza at Pizza Hut and avoid the cheese topping to cut down on the excess fat and sodium. If you have diabetes, then ensure to check your portion size when you order a pizza. One or max. two slices are enough. You can also avoid meat if possible and go for wings as a meat option.

Foods to Avoid at Pizza Hut for Diabetics:

You must avoid Meat Lovers Pizza with Original Pan Crust as it contains over 1000mg sodium and will add 470 calories in your meal. You should also skip Super Supreme Pizza Large Original Pan Slice which is too high in sodium and fat. Chicken wings are often tempting but you must control and restrict yourself from ordering Traditional Honey BBQ Bone-in Wings as it can add up to your sugar levels if you eat too many. On average, a person orders or consumes six chicken wings pieces in a day.

Sides must be avoided at all costs especially if it's Bacon Cheddar Fries with Ranch Dipping Cup for its high sodium content. You must also avoid New York Style Cheesecake with Applesauce as dessert as one slice of this dessert item contains 86g sugar. Pizza Hut also offers other Italian dishes such as Pasta. However, you must skip Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and Meatballs and Garlic Bread as it is too high in sodium and sugar.

Fast-food restaurants like Pizza Hut are not recommended to dine-in if you are diagnosed with high blood pressure. High Cholesterol at Pizza Hut

Whether large, medium or small, a pizza can boost your cholesterol levels instantly. You shouldn't eat more than one slice of any pizza your order at Pizza Hut. If you're concerned with your high cholesterol, then it is wise to take your friends to Pizza Hut and share pizza among them slice by slice. You can also try pasta at Pizza Hut but ensure that you are not adding any dressing or extra cheese as you order pasta.

Went there yesterday with the family (4 adults, 2 kids) for dinner. We arrived at 6:30 and they had plenty of empty tables. The hype appears to have died down a bit. We were seated upstairs. Our kids played foosball downstairs. The waitress was very helpful, helping them to find balls and explaining to them how the foosball table worked. We had pizza and the mussels. The food was very good (if you can live with the slightly burned crust that others have mentioned). However, they were out of the Peroni beer which is the only Lager beer they have (the others are IPAs etc.) which was suboptimal for us. We also ordered a bottle of $48 wine, which arrived opened and without the cork which is not good form at a minimum. It also tasted funny, but we let it slide. We ended up spending $70 per person, which seemed steep for mussels (which we shared) and pizza, but the food was good. It's a good place, with good service but not outstanding. However, the prices they charge are for an outstanding place.

I tried the food to go. The pizza was delicious. We tried the Salsiccia and the Broccoli Rabe. Both were yummy. Thin crust with a slight chew. We also ordered the Marinated Beets and Roasted Corn. Both were ok, but sure not worth the $7 they're charging for. I would definitely go back for the pizza, but not the sides.

First time here and it won't be the last! Enjoyed the lunch I shared with a friend. We had the Jersey Salad and the Margherita pizza. Portions for 2 people was perfect, with some leftovers. The salad was fresh, refreshing and tasty. The pizza was so yummy I wanted more, but didn't want to have to roll out of the restaurant. Service was great and attentive.

Pro :: Lovely place. Trendy and Hip. Food is good. Con :: Expensive, no on tap soda - only bottled Cola. Final Verdict - will not replace Toto's Pizzeria in San Bruno or Bravos in SF!

At first I was lost as at why Delfina Burlingame only has 3.5 stars... (seriously people?) I was starting to think that peninsula folks are missing the mark on this SF staple. Because, lets get things straight...this isn't your typical ma' and pa' pizza joint. It's true: the pizza is darn good. fresh, crispy, and interesting seasonal toppings. The experience: Recently my husband and I dined here and 10 minutes after getting seated I started to see what other Yelpers were referring to: poor service (or lack of), quality control on the food (nothing near the delish food in the city), loud annoying kids everywhere (okay, not delfina's fault)...It took us 10 minutes to get a server to us. The young lady that was our server served us a load of attitude served with a side of more attitude. The food: The menu offers a variety of options, but you should at least order a pizza (Panna pizza is good...amazing at the sf locations...again, quality control). The burrata and sardines area must try. Will I be back? Perhaps. Maybe once more to see if this was just an off night... So why the 4 stars? because 3.5 isn't an option and because I'm a fan of Delfina in the city (I used to live a few blocks away from California street location and would frequent very often) I think this location does have potential. Good luck Delfina...maybe take notes from your better halves in the city (ie. train your people on customer service....)

My friends took me here for the first time yesterday. Once we got there, there were a few people waiting to get in already. So... this place must be really good, right? Well.. let me tell you about it. Service: Our waiter is great. Very attentive. Always stop by to see how we're doing, if we needed re-fills on our drinks. The food is a bit slow though. We ordered 2 pizzas and it took about 30 minutes to be served. One little "gripe" I have was there was a time that one other waiter walked by.. I had an empty glass and instead of asking if I needed a re-fill... she just walked away. Food: Ordered 1 appetizer and 2 pizzas. Appetizer was a pull-pork on a toast. It was good... but.. too simple maybe? I mean... I literally was just a pile of pull-pork on a piece of toast. The pizzas... I totally love that I can pick up the pizza without it sagging. The thin crust had the perfect crispiness without being too hard. The 4-cheese pizza was very good. Nice blend of the cheeses and the taste was great. The other pizza was a mushroom pizza. This was..."Eh".. no taste, literally, when eating it with the 4-cheese. The 4-cheese totally overpowered them mushroom. The cheese that was used on the mushroom pizza was not very inviting to eat either. Once the pizza got just a little cooler, it hardened up really fast.

Been here twice for lunch already since it opened. The food is awesome! The veggies are amazing. Try the brussel sprouts with mint and lemon. The pizza is great too - my favorite is the broccoli rabe. Service was very good. We didn't wait in line since we came exactly at 11:30AM when it opened for lunch. Tips: Free parking in the private lot behing the restaurant Come here when it opens for lunch and dinner

Sorry, but I don't understand the hype. It seems that charred crust has loyal following. Unfortunately, the crust on my Panna pizza was charred to the point where every bite left a burnt bread taste in my mouth. I can still taste it. I gave up the crust quickly, but was also disappointed to find that the rest of the pizza was paper thin, with grease puddling in the middle, and a strangely uneven spread of toppings. I added pepperoni to my Panna. Picked up a slice and it just had cheese and Basil. Another slice had the pepperoni. Didn't noticed the cream on it at all (did they make a mistake, or am I missing something). Totally inconsistent and disappointing--- especially when one of the best qualities of pizza is the flavor combo melding together! Also ordered the "Fresh Stretched Mozzarella" which looks like a plate of perfection, but was more like a confused salad. A giant ball of cold mozz w/ a cup of arugula and a spoonful of olive oil..... I didn't understand. What about some fresh cracked pepper? Or a dash of delish balsamic vinaigrette ....or some tomatoes..... or anything to make this more exciting???? Co-worker had the same thoughts on her food. We both stopped half way through and said, "are we missing something?" Also, our to-go order came with the usual crushed red peppers & parmesan.... except we were given enough for one slice of pizza. No joke. I wish I had taken a picture. Imagine a pinch of crushed peppers in a large to-go cup. We both laughed out loud. I can't comment on the dining service, but I will say that our to-go orders were correct, warm and ready when they said. Two stars seems fine---- I mean, I've certainly experienced better.

Since my boyfriend and I have been to the Pacific Heights location and were very pleased about the quality of the pizzas we ordered, we naturally wanted to visit this location since it's closest to us. We called to go, which I think was a smarter choice than dining there because it was pretty packed with about five parties waiting at around 7PM. We ordered a margherita pizza. and it was ready to pick up within 15 minutes of calling. The restaurant is located on the same block as David's Tea and we had crossed the street from The Animal Connection since part of the road is still under construction. We actually ate the pizza in the car because we were both so hungry. I'm really not a fan of charred crust (according to my boyfriend, that's what a "real pizza" should have...bleh) and it was beyond burnt to a crisp. The pizza slices overall were dry with a disappointing amount of sauce. The only thing I really liked was the cheese, which was very chewy! I might be open to dining here in the future, but I would much rather go to the locations in SF, as I had a better experience in the city.

Had a lovely experience. Tricolore salad was refreshing and flavorful. My daughter had the fresh lemonade served in a carafe. I enjoyed my cold draft beer. Panna Pizza was delicious. Service was great.

For my first trip to Delfina I decided to go with the stick with the foundational margherita pizza to keep things simple. Big mistake. The pie was utterly flavorless. As other reviewers have noted, there was hardly any basil at all. My girlfriend and I counted 2 extra tiny basil leaves on the entire pizza.

My 2nd visit to Pizzeria Delfina because my 1st pizza (Margherita) was downright delicious. I ordered the Clam Pie pizza, the crust is unbelievable. My last slice of the pie and I bit down on what I first thought was a rock but was parts of a clamshell (At first I actually thought I had chipped my tooth). Was disappointed and pointed it out to Marie the mgr. She profusely apologized, offered me gelato but I politely refused. I asked for my check and they comped my meal. Can I say their great customer service really made a wonderful ending to a long day. I' ll.be .back!!

Had dinner here with my husband and baby. Had an amazing meal with great service, as we always do when eating at Delfina's Pizzeria/Delfina/Locanda. We were especially excited because we had been going to the Mission in SF to get our delfina fix, but now it's right in our neighborhood! It's also very kid friendly which is a huge bonus. They even took our stroller and parked it for us in the back. Loved that. So why the one star? Because later that night, all 3 of us had the wonderful pleasure of nonstop diarrhea and vomiting for the next 24 hours. Maybe I'm bitter because our weekend was ruined by constantly running to the toilet or changing liquid poo diapers and sheets at 3am, and in general feeling like you're dying, but I can't believe we got food poisoning from an establishment like Delfina's. If it were a hole in the wall joint maybe, but Delfina's?? We dropped over $130 bucks on dinner and then this?? I called the restaurant to let them know, and to inquire if anyone else reported being sick. The manager said he would get back to me but never did. Classy. Really disappointed as we had been waiting for this place to open for so long. But even looking at the box of leftovers in our fridge makes my stomach churn. We won't be going back for a long time.

tl;dr go, eat, be happy I was a single walk in at 5:30 and managed to nab a seat at the bar with no wait. Awesome chicory pizza with sausage and two eggs atop a perfect crust -- so much reminded me of Italy that I think I shed a tear. My server has an impressive knowledge of food and drink and she attended to me impeccably. As a bonus she turned me on to the most delicious wine I've had in a good long while. Thanks Delfina for introducing me to a new Italian varietal. I'll definitely be back for more.

The pizza was good! The service was good! $4 for a diet coke and then offered a refill....after being finished eating! It made the experience a bit negative.

We did not order pizza -- perhaps that was our mistake. We got the eggplant parm, veggies, and a salad. Eggplant was great but a small portion size. Same with salad. Veggies were meh and were not as described -- the waiter said they were in a carbonara type sauce -- but they came with spaghetti sauce. The crostini were drenched in oil. I could not eat them. Service was poor. I was really surprised and disappointed.

The service and atmosphere was 4 stars but the pizza was 2 stars, tops. The staff were very friendly and polite, and service was quick, although I arrived before the dinner rush when it was fairly empty so I can't speak to how fast they are when the crowd hits. The interior is designed beautifully and the outdoor patio in the back is just as nice. Which is why when my pizza came I was so surprised at the poor quality. The pizza margherita was dripping grease - the kind where it sits in puddles on top of the pizza. There weren't even enough napkins to sop it all off. There were two small, shriveled pieces of basil, certainly not enough to get even a hint of basil flavor on most of the slices. The dough, mozarella, and sauce all seemed to be good quality and cooked evenly, but it was hard to distinguish taste with all the grease. Maybe they were just having an off night, but honestly with all the options in the Bay Area, I don't know if I'll give them another shot.

I'm really glad we decided to stop by here! Had a modern ambience and feel which initially confused my general idea of Italian food. Went to wash my hands and the sink was public and shared which was the first innovative thing I noticed. We sat at the bar and a few friendly workers greeted us immediately and assisted me in my questions. Food was killer and service was great. That's all I ask for. I would def recommend the. Neapolitan meatballs and lemon mint brussels sprouts.

This seems to be the new hot spot in downtown Burlingame. The fourth addition to their Delfina lineup, which just opened in December 2013. Appetizer: Belfiore Burrata w/ arugula, crostini & extra virgin olive oil. SOOO much burrata but so little crostinis. Literally. The crostinis are miniature size and there were only four, not to mention they are hard as a rock. Sorry teeth. What to do with all the leftover burrata? Mix it in with the arugula, like salad dressing? I was tempted but maintained self control. Mind over matter. Pizza: We ordered a special pizza, not listed on the regular menu. It was a thin crust pizza with just prosciutto and artichoke, not certain if sauce was involved, I'm betting it was just cheese. Skimpy on both prosciutto and artichoke :( Only one bathroom each for man and woman. Not very practical for all the humans in this joint. I wasn't crazy about the food, though service was excellent. A happy vibe.

Great place to eat. I love their breadsticks (yes those things in the cup that look like decorations!) clam pizza sounds gross but is one of the best I've had around here. The atmosphere of the restart is really nice at night as well.

The margherita pizza is our hands down favorite pizza. This is always part of our order. Love the crispy, thin dough. The watercress, butter bean, and poached tuna salad was also grubbin. The salad and its fresh lemon dressing made a nice contrast to the pizza. The sausage pizza and mussels were also good, but will try something different next time.

I don't particularly enjoy their pizza, and I really only go there for the spaghetti and meatballs. Be warned, they don't always serve it so check their daily menu on their website before you want to go there and try it. I also give it a 2-stars, because for the price the servings are way to small. Dishes that looked delicious on the menu and were a disappointment. The Belfiore Burrata not very good. The mozzarella was very watery and had no flavor. The Penn Cove Muscle were forgettable. The Lasagna was okay, and too small. It looked like the half of a a TV dinner sized piece. That's how small it was. But do try the spaghetti and meatballs. It's delicious.

Unsure what all the hype is all about. The pizza is soggy and bland. The appetizers were tiny and unimpressive. Not to mention we waited forever for our food but ended up with a small misshapened pizza while neighboring tables got nice round larger ones. Never again this place is not worth your money.

I LOVE Delfina pizza. I was always a fan of the original spot in the mission, and I am soooo happy about this new location in Burlingame! It is less crowded, and the staff is always on point. My favorite is definitely the Margaritta. So simple yet so flavorful, you take one bite and the umami from that fresh dough and mozzarella cheese just spreads in your mouth! Mmmm! You can tell their ingredients are so fresh and good quality that you don't even need any additional toppings like pepperoni and sausage (and trust me I am a big pepperoni pizza person normally)! I can really eat at this place every weekend!!

The place was busy on a recent Saturday night, but we were seated immediately. We shared pizza, spaghetti, sardines. It was okay, but the service was better than the food. Certainly had better spaghetti in my own kitchen. Appears to be an event, in lieu of a dining experience. Reminds me of the Mission location. Way to go! But step up the food.

Definitely not associated with the DelFina in San Francisco...the pizza crust was burned and definitely not worth the price. The Californese salad was drenched in dressing that was not tasty. Expensive food with no quality. The pictures look better than it really tastes.

After a minor mishap with our order, the staff at Pizzeria Delfina graciously comped our drinks, pizza, and even threw in ice cream (they had me at free pizza). I was extremely impressed how they handled the whole situation. Chef Dillion even fired up the oven to make our order after they had already closed everything down (we had ordered pretty close to closing), which was very nice of him. My foodie boyfriend and I pretty much devoured our pizzas (the margarita and panna). Thank you all again, we will definitely be coming back. :)

Went there last night for the first time. Loved the pizza: light, crisp crust; absolutely delicious sausage; fresh, bright-tasting tomato sauce; and best mozzarella I've had on the Peninsula. The one recommendation I'd make would be to add some sort of sun protection on the back patio. Umbrellas, awnings, something...even early in the evening on a relatively cool afternoon, the sun is just brutal back there.

We have been waiting for this since we found out Delfina was opening in Burlingame about 12 months ago. Didn't disappoint. We used to be regulars at the SF Delfina. We got there are 4pm to beat the rush. It definitely worked but it was a holiday and we couldn't have done it any other time. The queue was down the street by 5.30pm. Clam Pie as usual. Tasted just how I remember it. Bread sticks could use some oil on the table. Hefe beer was great. Will be back next time we can avoid the queues. Any other SF restaurants want to make some money south of the city?

Have been to the Burlingame location twice. Frequented the Mission District location. Ordered the Prosciutto Pie. It was an excellent! The pie consists of high quality of prosciutto(prosciutto Di Parma) to be exact and arugula with panna cheese. All 3 of these ingredients complimented each other. In terms of pasta I ordered the spaghetti, which is always a good test when dining out at an Italian restaurant and pizzeria and the orecchiette with broccoli pesto and cheese. Both were excellent as they each had great flavors. Could definitely have one of the two for dinner instead of pizza on a given night. Save room for dessert. The gelatos are homemade. The mint straciatella and Tahitian vanilla bean gelato were my two favorites sandwiched with brioche. As far as wine. They have a nice selection. Not too familiar with the Italian red wine varietals. I usually gravitate to the Madigan Cabernet Sauvignon or the Dashe, Dry Creek Zinfandel. My recommendation would be to arrive early. All of the restaurants and subsidiaries do not take reservations.

Cute fresh drink options. Strawberry soda is pretty and yummy. Food was disappointing. Sloppy and our dishes were overall salty. Maybe kitchen staff are new...... Service was good though! The chalkboard you write your name on as wait list...... is confusing and at times frustrating.

Fabulous food, freshest ingredients, cool servers... I've eaten here about twenty times since they opened...so excited to have some great food in Burlingame. My favorites are the meatballs, the burrata, the sausage pizza with the addition of mushrooms, the seasonal vegetable dishes, the pasta specials. I love sitting at the counter to watch all of the food being prepared. This is an awesome addition to Burlingame...so happy I don't have to trek up to SF to eat here anymore...!

Pizzeria Delfina has a claim to fame in San Francisco. Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi and his wife planned to eat there. Instead they got in a fight and the new sheriff of San Francisco county ended up in his own jail for domestic violence. Elena and I are world travelers. My wife's favorite pizza restaurant is in Naples, Italy. It's been in business for over 100 years. It serves only one type of pizza. Elena complimented Delfina's for having a pizza as good as the pizza restaurant in Naples. Service was great and they constantly gave you attention. All ingredients are natural. It was a great dining experience and the check was also a pleasant surprise. As Arnold loves to say: "I'll be back!"

DON"T WASTE YOUR TIME! I have to give Delfina one star based on service alone. We sat and waited over 45 minutes to be seated when we were told it would be "maybe 15 minutes at most." There was no rhyme or reason to how people were being seated. It was not based on number in party nor where their name was on the chalkboard. We finally got seated and it went downhill from there. No one came to take our order. We flagged someone down and they took our drink order. 3 of the 5 drinks came. We waited some more to get our food order taken. We never figured out who our server was. It was always whoever we had to flag down. It would have been comical if we weren't so hungry and irritated. No one seemed to have a clue nor did they seem to care. Strangest dining experience ever. Admittedly once the food finally came it was good. But at that point we just wanted to eat and get out of there. We had already wasted over 2 hours there with 2 young kids. Never again.

I really like the food at Delfina- that's why I went tonight- wife traveling decided to just go out- sit at the counter and have a nice glass of wine and a good meal. NOT. I sat at the counter for 10 minutes. No eye contact from either of the two people working the "front." I get she was taking an order from the people next to me but when she finished perhaps a nod? The guy was busy filling water pitchers or something- I was invisible-- I kept waiting. Meanwhile a woman comes to the counter with an empty drink glass and engages with the female server behind the counter - this after I had been sitting patiently and invisible -while the two were continuing to speak I decided enough was enough and I got up and left - as I reached the front door the female server called out to me, "sir- is everything ok?" Yes I replied-- "ok" because I was out and heading to Sapore where I am now eating-oh by the way, they seem happy I'm here.

RIPOFF! I'll start by saying the staff is friendly and inviting but the meal is anything but. I paid $40 for a pickup order for a 10" average pizza and salad that barely feeds one let alone two. So much for a nice dinner in on a birthday dinner for my girlfriend. I recommend to stay far, far away from this establishment.

We were here with two small children and three adults, and everyone left happy. The burrata and the pizzas were all delicious. We shared the Napoletana with added cheese, the Panna with added prosciutto, and the 4 Formaggi with no sauce (for the kids). The staff was exceptional. Can't imagine you can do better for a pizza place around here.

Tried Pizzeria Delfina in the city and it was great. It's the exact same product in Burlingame, minus crackheads trying to sneak a peek at your meal/flash you/God only knows. More elderly yuppies and a few children sprinkled here and there. Bottom line: tasty artisanal pizza, drinks and some yummy appetizers.

I was so happily surprised after moving from SF to Burlingame that they opened a Pizzeria Delfina in Burlingame! I love pizza of all kinds. And if you're craving or searching for a thin crust pizza, Delfina is the spot. I thought the quality of the pizza was very similar to the SF ones with quality ingredients and delicious flavor. But what's even better, is that Delfina in Burlingame is much, much larger and can hold larger groups. It's a trendy vibe and very spacious. I'm so glad that it's in the peninsula!

Great service, very busy, decent waiting time. The fried chicken is not yet on the menu, but it was delicious. We ordered a pizza and the fried chicken, and I wish I had skipped on the pizza and ordered more fried chicken. Overall nice place and a great addition to the block. I won't be eating there too often because its a tad bit too pricey, but still awesome. Best of luck Delfinas! :-)

I think what "makes" the pizza here is the crust. It's very airy and light. We had the speck, would suggest it for those who are fans of prosciutto. Light sauce with little bit of olive oil on top. Sat at the bar, not very big, but ambiance was nice. Fun watching the chefs roll the dough out in front of you. Change of pace from blue line down the street, no deep dish though.

We had a really excellent experience here. Terrific, attentive service, excellent food quality, good price point. For Temescal insiders, this was Pizzaiolo without the pretension. Really great, highly recommended, and we were a small family.

I have had some great food here. The pizza's are excellent with fresh ingredients and creative toppings (egg, grilled fennel etc.). The ambiance is fun, but a bit loud. The service was solid. The prices are where this review flattens out. For pizza, albeit high end pizza, the cost is pretty exorbitant. Lunch with 2 adults and 2 kids was around $100...ouch. There is a point where the ratio of cost to food does come into play.

Pizza was great and server was excellent. He is a 5-star. He knew everything about the menu. They were out of a lot of things. Clams for the clam pizza, and 3 types of gellatto. Each time he had to come back to tell us they were out. Poor guy. Our ice creams were such a hassle they gave us $20 worth of dessert for free. They knew it was bad that they were out of everything, but they fixed it for us! I will definitely be going back .

Had dinner with my family. Very family friendly, service is great but the food was so incredibly salty. We ordered: clam pie salcissia pizza neopolitan meatballs in sugo roasted corn with chili butter kids penne pasta with butter and cheese The pizza crust is good but I wouldn't go back because almost everything was sodium laden. The flavors and the quality of the food was good so maybe if they scaled back on the salt it would be a better experience. The kids enjoyed their penne pasta.

Contrary to the other review, we came at 5PM on a weekend, placed our name on the list, and only had to wait 5 minutes. We could see the restaurant was already quite packed with both the downstairs and upstairs filled with people. The fennel sausage pizza was quite good -- thin crust, good amount of sausage, onions, and sweet peppers. A bit price at about $16 but reasonable enough to serve two moderate eaters. It was a bit saltier than what we would have preferred so one start knocked down. This pizza IMO is better than Blue Line down the road. Attentive service with our waiter coming by a few times to refill the water bottle, take away plates, etc. and other staff pitching in when he was busy.

Delfina did a great job translating their SF pizzeria to Burlingame. Wow. I was surprised to learn they were opening, and what a curious choice to out it in Burlingame, and with Blueline Pizza just down the street. Not complaining, though. Had the Funghi "hen of the woods" (?) pizza (tasty, but a little dry. still loved it, though) and a Martin's Escarole salad (a slight bit too "lemony." again, still enjoyed it.). Good wine list available and a thoughtful selection of beers on tap. I like it that they include local breweries, for instance, Drake's and Calicraft. That's a good sign. Overall, great flavors like I've come to expect, fantastic space and great staff. Just one note I'd like to make is the soundtrack sounded as if they were trying to cater to sixteen year old girls. What's up with that?

The pizza here is good but overhyped. They use some odd combinations in their menu and the place is a bit pretentious. If you're looking to try to impress someone then this might be the place but if you're looking for a good pizza I'd stroll down the street to Blue Line.

Really fresh made pizza but the variety was not for me... They are more of Tapa (snack) type to go with wine or something similar not a real meal. I think I could finish two pizza by myself and I am not a big guy. I know it is not about quantity. There was nothing special on the ingredients for the pizza neither. It is a descent place but a bit overprice for a commoner like me.

Bummed to write this because I so wanted to love it. Pizza was fine, avocado butter lettuce salad was weirdly tart - we didn't finish it. Brussels sprouts were the high point buy 50 bucks for lunch for these 3 items with tea no booze or coffee or dessert... so not worth it. Waiter was more snotty than friendly. Host was delightful. But the worst thing of all was the volume at lunch. Horrible acoustics I was trying to lip read my friend across the tiny table. Don't go with anyone you want to hear or talk to. Dinner must be even louder. YIKES.

Came here after hearing about it through a recommendation from a friend- My partner and I ordered the margarita pizza and the arugula and prosciutto pizza. The consistency of the pizza was amazing- not burned at all, chewy in the crust and not too much either- just the way i like it. One less star because it took a little bit, but it was worth it. I will defiantly be back to try some other menu items!

Yummy food, upbeat music & great atmosphere. The pizza was burnt to where it was completely black in a couple spots which is the only reason for the 4 stars. Got the Safron Arincini and a Salciccia pizza, both delicious. Definitely more than enough for 2 people. Don't forget to try their strawberry soda, very fresh. Will be back soon!

Food was so salty and pizza was not great, they made it completely different than before not consistent, village host is better... They need to work on their service and their guest relationships.

  • TM P.

The atmosphere was nice, but the food was nothing to write home about and it was overpriced. Over $50 for two adults and one child for lunch. The pizzas are tiny and average about $15 each. You cannot do half/half pizzas.

3.5 the entire street in front is closed right now for repairs. doesn't stop the crowds though. dining scene in this area moving up, nice interior. pappardelle already sold out by 5:30 had the Gricia - Guanciale, spring onion, panna, black pepper (white sauce) actually a bit bland. crust ok at least the bubble parts, but can't stop thinking about Oak and Rye orecchiette - w/ broccoli raab pesto & fennel sausage sausage pieces flavorful, pesto blah, orecchiette a bit extra al dente expectations too high possibly.

Came here because they "have gluten free pasta" while with a group of people who are not gluten free and had planned to come here. They have one dish, with pork. When asking to substitute any vegetable for the sausage, the kitchen said they could leave out the pork, but would charge $8 for the side of vegetables.

I got an email from some person from Pizzeria Delfina who says that I was right about the $6 root beer being to expensive. They said that they would reduce the price and they did to $4. Now they have two other sodas for $6, Vanilla cream and strawberry, really, $6 for soda, they are really out of their mind at that restaurant. The email also said that they would send me a coupon for their mistake on the $6 root beer, it's been a month and still no coupon. Sorry but it doesnt take a month to send a coupon if they really cared, obviously they don't. I have been in the restaurant business for over 30 years and this is no way to treat a customer. They said they would make it right by sending me a coupon and they once again failed in my book. There are so many restaurants in Burlingame, choose another.

So I've been going to Delfina several times in Burlingame and it's consistently gotten worse. The service is absolutely terrible. If you have a family and bring kids - a mainstay of Burlingame - the service is downright embarrassing. The staff has very little sympathy for families much less any idea how to handle them. We waited over and hour and a half for two pizzas. They had not lost our order but merely "had miscommunications in the back", despite our continuous reminders of what our simple order was. This is the third time where we've brought guests and kids and had an awful experience. This location simply can't get it right. No amount of reputation or supposed quality can make-up for a completely terrible, frustrating overall experience again and again. If you want to show off a quality California establishment with outstanding customer attention, I strongly suggest taking guests to In-N-Out Burger nearby. At least you'll experience a little pride in what the diligence a 15-year-old manager is able to pull off compared to what the Delfina staff can't.

just as good as the two other locations food-wise. our server was a little on the ditzy side but considering it was the first few days of opening i'll give her a pass. when i inquired about whether one of the words on the mushroom pizza translated to some sort of a meat she said "no," then went on to say that "i think the speck pizza has proscuitto on it." well, chick, it's not proscuitto, it's speck. that's the meat. there aren't a ton of items on the menu so i expect the staff to understand and know the menu "like the back of their hand" so to speak. but again, it was the first few days so i'll let it go and not retract stars based on that. otherwise she was a pretty decent server.

We got there at five and did not have to wait long to be seated so we were pleased. Within 20 minutes the lines were down the street and unhappy faces appeared. The staff was friendly but things were not smooth in the service. Some of our dishes never came, everyone was served their food at different times and it was not spectacular. The restaurant was freezing, loud and crowded people were complaining. The biggest surprise was the 100 price tag for a simple dinner for three(without alcohol). Not going back anytime soon.

What do you know, the two one star reviews on this post have hardly any reviews of other places. Like all new places that open in Burlingame, Pizzeria Delfina has been swamped with people wanting to try a cool new spot on the Avenue. If people would stop acting so entitled up and down Burlingame the experience may become a little better... Everywhere. My party of 6 waited an hour and a half to eat. We put names in and came back later. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. None of the waiters seemed to be shaken by the rude entitled comments from their customers on their wait. From the "could you please hurry, I'm really hungry." (Hello were all hungry were at a restaurant) to the people flailing their arms trying to get the attention of their waiter. Kudos to a new team busting their butt to have an amazing new place to eat in Burlingame. Definitely check this spot out, even if you you have to wait for foot traffic to slow after a week. Whatever you do, don't listen to the 1 star reviews when obviously their the outliers in this situation.

We were all so excited to eat at Delfinas in Burlingame. I made my husband check to see what time they opened (the website stated 5pm during the holidays) so we got there at 4:59 pm. We have two small kids so eating early is the only way we can eat out without meltdowns. When we get there the place is completely packed (with some people finishing their dinner) and there is a ton of people outside. We put our name on the list and are quoted 30 minutes. After an hour we left. I hope to one day review this place again after actually tasting the food. Come on guys get the basics correct. Either change your times on your website and sign or open when you say you're going to open and work on your ability to estimate a person's wait time. Customers in burlingame become loyal when service is great. We found our experience to be completely absent of any customer service and it felt like no one even seem to care!

Service was terrible, too many people, very disorganized. We don't mind paying the price, if the service matches the food. Best part of the meal was the grilled Brentwood corn with Calabrian chili butter-- divine intervention on the creation of the sauce! But, at eight bucks for 1 cob; a bit pricy,,, given the service. This arrived long after the pie, with a reminder from the pizza delivery person of the omission. Prosciutto pie: a nice generous portion of prosciutto on the top, along with the arugula, the cheese was difficult to discover, thin. The crust was perfectly crisp, with browned bits, but flavorless. Terrible service with a pie that needs improvement means we'll go elsewhere & come back in 6 months. By then, maybe they'll get it right.

Delfina? one star? what? I know, I'm sad wrting this. Let me begin by stating I couldn't wait for Delfina to open. I can't begin to explain my disappointment with this place. To begin, waited over 2 hours and we got there when then opened at 5pm. Then, the food. Are you kidding? 1 slice. 1 slice of bread with a huge slab of Burrata. It was a joke. We got the brussels sprouts, bad, there was more arugula than sprouts. My sister thought it was the salad. The carrots, soggy. After eating at Vesta on the peninsula, very similar sides, Delfina needs to step it up. My mom has better presentation than Delfina (I know taste is what matters, but there was netiher). The pizza is so average. Atmosphere, bright, chaotic, rushed. I could honestly compare this to Blueline Pizza. Was so excited for this place. Completely missed the mark. So bummed.

  • Zakia R.

I honestly agree with the other yelpers. This place is alright. And I mean just alright. It's nothing special. So you're probably not missing out on anything. I'd rather make my own pizza or take out elsewhere. This place is a little pricey for what you get.

We are already huge fans of Delfina in San Francisco and ate at the new Burlingame restaurant which opened today! For the record we have tried every other Burlingame restaurant more than once so we think our review is very objective. The quality of food and service are identical to the San Francisco locations. We love all the regular dishes..Tuna Conserva, Spaghetti, all the Pizzas especially the tomato cream. The space and vibe are so unique to the peninsula and Burlingame it is hard to imagine they won't do incredibly well. There is nothing like it in town from a quality and ambience standpoint and the prices are very reasonable. In addition, though not on the menu they will make a kids pasta with butter and cheese that rivals most other pastas we have tried so good for kids also. So far most of the negative reviews are from people with very few posts (odd) and for very trivial things that have nothing to do with the quality of the food or service.

Best restaurant in Burlingame. Delicious, authentic Italian food. I love the pizza, especially the salsiccia (sausage), the Little Gems salad is amazing, and the eggplant parmigiana is almost as good as my Calabrian grandmother's. Excellent friendly staff, too and nice atmosphere.

This pizza place was written up in the chronicle last Sunday so I made a note to try it and last night we took a chance on not having to wait too long. There was a long list of names on the board but luckily we were seated in about 15 minutes at the bar which was fine for us. We always go for the basic margarita and it was fantastic. Crips crust, good tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella and a bit of basil. I asked for infused hot chili oil and it was really flavorful just how I like it, my husband got their chili flakes, oregano and Parmesan on a side dish and we also had some delicious, crispy, cheesy, bread sticks that were complementary. It's kind of loud, but has a busy, fun vibe. Loved the pizza, my new favorite in the area. Will return.

A welcome addition to Burlingame Avenue. We ordered a pizza & told our server to make sure it was not burned or we would send it back--better to be proactive. Ordered the meatballs which are truly delicious although the sugo looked like it was sitting in more oil than sauce. The fava beans are pretty perfect but they came out last instead of first as an appetizer. Is there anyone at the pass to pace the timing especially at lunch when its not as crowded as dinner? The ice cream (house made) is not memorable, maybe they should partner with Bi-Rite to bring in their flavors. We wanted to order a salad but felt the selection was limited. Note to Craig & Annie Stoll: please see there is someone at the pass to oversee the food & check it against the customer order. Its not very cool to get an appetizer after the entree but we let it go as it was lunch time.

Was here for a holiday lunch. Food overall was acceptable. I don't think it was the best pizza I ever had. Honestly,if you have not been on my list of restaurants to try for many years I think I would not have skipped out. Your service was great, decor and atmosphere for lunch was awesome. Though I would have like to encourage you to not pack so many tables and people into your space. I sorta felt that I was sitting on top of other people (esp in your loft area) a bit too close for comfort. Loved the open kitchen. Food though I would not say I loved it as much as I loved seeing your kitchen line work.

Good food. Great ambiance. Interesting and unique drinks and pizza toppings. No ADA seating at the bar area which is disappointing... they have a place for it to pass code but have their equipment there blocking it. Mention it to the manager if you visit, hopefully they'll have a heart and make a minor alteration. Great food and prices that fit the area.

We've been three times now. The first time was wonderful, the second time mediocre, and the third time just plain bad. Bad to the point that I was horribly sick for 5 hours after dinner. I wanted this place to be great, so badly. There is so little in the area, but I don't think I'll be able to go back. So sad.

Having eaten and loved the SF location, I couldn't wait to go to the new location right by my house. The first attempt was thwarted by an early closing (private party), so went last night. Knew enough to go on the early side (6:15 pm) as we expected it would be crowded. Only waited a reasonable 20 mins or so to be seated. However, during that 20 minutes, the only reason I didn't leave was because I was with friends who I knew wanted to stay. It was so noisy that we could barely hear each other! I realized that despite how good I expected the food to be I could not enjoy my meal, and I was right. We sat upstairs where we hoped it would be quieter, but that didn't help. Food (5 stars): Margherita (added broccoli rabe) & Panna Pizzas. Ordered Star Route Chard w/ currants & pine nuts but they forgot to bring it. The food did not disappoint -- the pies were delicious. Although the waiter forgot our side of chard he was still quite nice, and very apologetic when he realized his error. Atmosphere (0-1 star): A deal-breaker. The three of us were all uncomfortable with the noise level. When I made inquiry with the hostess she said that they were aiming for a hipster feel. I guess they don't realize that this isn't exactly a hipster neighborhood, but more of a family/working professional neighborhood. We like to chat when we go out! The only chance for a return visit would be trying it late afternoon. If it's always that noisy, then back to Blue-Line Pizza, or maybe take-out. Wish there was a little fabric to soak up some of the noise -- so disappointed....

Came here for lunch on. Tuesday at 11:45, restaurant had three tables with patrons. Ordered 3 simple dishes, the sweet peppers, burrata cheese and the antipasto jersey style. Peppers came within 8 minutes, waited 12 minutes for the cheese, which takes nothing to prepare...the antipasto took a while longer as the beans were not quite cooked...ok I get it...if we were there right when doors open I could understand, but almost an hour after you are open????? Watching the prep chefs, they seemed oblivious to time or the fact that there were patrons in the restaurant, they were quite impressed with themselves and their hats on backward while they heckled themselves out in the dining room mirror...tragic. Too bad, have enjoyed other meals here but this may be the clincher for no return.... By the way if you want to have a quiet conversation with your guests, good luck as the acoustics are brutal...did not help that a woman with the loudest laugh was seated three tables away...

I am a fan. We went for an early dinner and service and food was fabulous. We had the arancini for appetizer and a margerita and salcissia pizza for our main course. Topped off the night with their home maid gelato. They did not rush us even though the place was packed and the entrance was overflowing with waiting customers.

The pizza was excellent and service once you sit down is good. The restaurant is loud and crowded no where to stand to wait so waitstaff is crashing into you and they get frustrated. The chalk board wait list is insane, would rather call and reserve a table and show up in 1-2 hours than stand and be in the way for over an hour. Delfina do reservations you are losing customers like me who tried this once but won't ever stand up and wait another hour just for pizza and meatballs.

I came here for a family luncheon and unfortunately I had to leave my dog King Louis outside of the restaurant (They provided a water bowl, sounds good to me already). Upon entry you notice that this place is packed. Everyone loud and busy having a good Sunday lunch. The salad was small, my beer was small, everyone's lemonade came in larger pitcher like glasses that you pour in to small cups (fancy). The pizza was delicious, but small, we ordered 4 pizzas for 5 people. Overall the service was great and the food delicious as well. After construction of Burlingame avenue has completed I'm sure this place is only gonna get busier, so I would eat here asap.

i haven't been to the original sf location nor have i actually heard much about delfina except for the very buzzed about name and they're pizza. so, i didn't have a ton of expectations. we got the tuna conserva salad to start, which was pleasantly delicious. then, three pies: prosciutto (no-brainer), 4 formaggi (upscale cheese pizza), and the panna magic (from the secret menu - basically the panna with sausage). the food is delicious. the ambience is trendy, cool, but still neighborly. the service was good. happy to have a THIRD pizzeria option within the burlingame avenue vicinity.

I love Pizza delphina in SF, and was so excited they came to my town. I tried to get in on the first day Dec16th at 4:30PM. tHERE WAS A PRIVATE PARTY-THAT I WASN'T INVITED TOO-AND THE LADY SAID COME BACK AT 5:00pm. I walked along the avenue and tried not to buy anything. I cam back right at 5:00pm, the place was packed.and I saw no seats available. I asked the lady who told me to come back at 5:00pm-what happened and she said she opened the doors at 4:55PM. That really was wrong. I gave her my name, and sat down. Luckily, my son was in line at 4:55pm and he waved me to his table. The food was great, and the service was good, except, a long wait for food-again the place was totally full. Watch out Blue Line! Delphina is in town! Yum! the basic Marinara with fresh mozzerella is great and also the homemade sausage!

Walked in at 6:00 on a Sunday, and got a table right away! The huzzy and I ordered the prosciutto pizza, and meatballs. Both were very yummy. I have to agree with the other reviews. Food is good, service not great, super high prices. Isn't great service and food the best part going to a restaurant? Wouldn't a new-ish place really try hard to make it right? I guess not. Arrived with my friends and was seated right away. We ordered and our food came out in bits and pieces. Did we really need to say, please bring our food out when it's ALL ready so we can eat together? For a $17 small pizza and a non-refill $4 lemonade - it was disappointing to have to eat it cold while waiting for my friends to get their pizza. We waited 10 minutes until my friends got their pizza ( watching ours get cold). When I told the waitress that perhaps she could take ours back and keep it warm. She just said something about the kitchen finishing part of our lunch first, but not all of it. There were lots of workers milling about, so it wasn't a matter of lack of staff. The manager asked how was our lunch as we were leaving, but we by then I believe it was too late. Don't think I would eat there anytime soon.

I've got to agree with others that there is more hype for this restaurant than is warranted. The tables are tight together, (esp. upstairs) the noise is over the top and unless you get there when they first open, the wait can be long. The pizza is just ok; I've been several times and, to me, they all taste the same. I must say though that the meatballs are 5 stars. But I don't plan on going thru the various hassles listed about just to get those:( Maybe take out is an option. I'll wait a few more months and re-visit to see what transpires; maybe time will help. In the meantime, I'll be trying other places.

Service was good. Pizza was tasteless. I dont get it. With all the good places to eat in the area why would you wait to eat here. Blueline down the street is 100% better.

Planned an early dinner out with a couple of girlfriends. Placed an order for the special pizza of the day and were told they had "sold out" of that pizza. Really? Already sold out 6:15pm on a Tuesday night? Can you say bad kitchen management? Then our waiter (wearing a grungy green t shirt and a ski hat) arrived with our three glasses of wine, carrying one in each hand and the third tucked precariously under his armpit. All three of us did a double-take. I was the unlucky one who got the armpit-warmed chardonnay. Lovely. These are not just "kinks" that Delfina needs to work out. They need to plan better, manage better and staff better.

Great pizzas and salads. Tonight service was really bad. Pizza took almost 30 mins to come out after we ate our salad. The waiter never apologized nor did he come and check to see if the pizza was ok.

I had the spaghetti and meatballs. It was amazing and there was plenty to share. The vibe from the restaurant was wonderful. It was really mod and cute. I sat at the bar and the servers and bartenders were very nice. The menu had a lot of unique items. This place is great for a date night but I noticed it was also very kid friendly. I would certainly go back.

pizzeria delifna I really wanted to like you, but I mean come on now....there was not one redeeming quality about this place! service was blah. our waiter was kind of a ding bat. he didn't know much about the menu or ingredients which was kind of annoying...they did not have a salad that was up my alley, but I decided to try one anyway. it came out incorrect and I sent it back. came back wrong again and so I just gave up and asked them to take it back. the pizza came (margherita) and was super small which if we weren't three people sharing it, it wouldn't be a big deal....had barely any flavor and the crust was sort of soggy though it was burnt around the edges....I would never go back here because like I said, there wasn't anything redeeming about this place...which is a shame since we love pizza and it's super close to our house. bummer.

This was not a regular Delfina experience. Food was nothing near what you would have in the city.. Seems like they are trying to figure out what to do from service stand point.. Our server was extremely nervous and rushed us as if the world was about to come to an end if we didn't order or finish up our food.. Hopefully they will get their act together soon..

So happy they chose to place a location in Burlingame. I loved Pizzeria Delfina in the Mission and this is basically the same, just bigger and easier to get a table. Get the meatballs as an appetizer and a couple of margarita pizzas!

3.5 stars after two visits. Both were lunch visits. I've tried a few of apps which are seasonal (different salads and recently corn with a butter/chili sauce, also previously cauliflower). I've tried 3 different veggie pizzas - the margherita, the 4 cheese and the one with broccoli rabe. All 3 were good but I've had much better pizza at zero zero in the city and Terun in Palo Alto. Service is just okay. Like the outdoor seating in the back and the complementary parking.

Finally - Delfina in Burlingame! I was prepared for a long wait, but we arrived at 6:30 (Wed night), and were seated ten minutes later!! Hostess had told us 30 minutes, so we were pleasantly surprised, she was very nice and on top of the wait list. Ordered the funghi pizza, and the brussel sprouts, both were great!! Our friend's carbonara pizza next to us looked amazing, will order that next time too. Our waiter was really nice and helpful as well, always there when we needed him. I would prefer the decor to be slightly warmer, it's a bit barren, but overall everything was great - can't wait to go back.

We were very disappointed with our dinner at the Burlingame Delfina. We ordered 5 different dishes and none of them were very good. We had such high hopes as we are great fans of the SF Delfina pizzaria. I guess location does make a difference.

As an Italian chef I find delfina's pizza to be as close to the real original wonderful pizzas you will enjoy when you travel through Italy. I am pleased we have such good pizza here in burlingame. A just ok service friendly enough, clean place ( of course it's new ) very loud, difficult to have a relaxed conversation with your guests. A warning: Please be aware that their " meat balls " are not made of beef, but a combination of different meats including pork and they are not fully thoroughly cooked -which is not only against the health department requirements, but they are extremely dangerous to peoples health and especially to those with not so strong immune systems. When I show the content of my " meat balls " to my waiter I have been told that it was just my personal opinion..... So I'm making this personal and I'll never order anything else but the pizzas so that's why I'm giving them only 3 stars and I'm sure one of these days someone will get sick if they don't act ASAP to correct the problem. I hope this will be helpful to guests and management as well.

Tried to eat there tonite. Told the initial wait for of party of 7 with kids was 45 minutes. After 30 minutes, the hostess returned and said it would be over an hour. Meanwhile, she had erased my party's name from where it was on the list and put it way down. I can understand the reluctance to open up table for a large party with kids but going to the extent of lying about it was severely disappointing. Place LACKS INTEGRITY. Not bringing my business here ever again.

The pizza and salad was fantastic. A bit overpriced/small portioned on the salad side, Pretty decor. Our water was empty and a gentleman came by with two water replacements , thinking he was going to replace our empty water, when he asked, "how are you folks doing?" I said we were doing very well, and he briskly walked away without replacing our waters. I would have given a 4 star rating but A waitress named Marie noticed our empty waters and even though she wasn't our waitress, she replaced them like a pro, so I bumped the rating up to 5.

Beyond happy to have Delfina less than 2 miles from home! Food was excellent, service was SF quality, vibe was modern and fresh. Was nice to see Annie Stoll playing hostess. We had the cumin roasted carrots and the pizza special with grilled chicory and pancetta and the tricolor salad. Perfect. Can't wait to come back when the outdoor patio is open.

Been coming here frequently enough and we like the pizza! We've tried all kinds of pizzas. Our favorites so far are the panna and margherita. Pastas are good also. Keep in mind that the menu changes from time to time so your go-to dish might not be there when you come back. Why three stars, you ask? After coming here many times, we noticed that service can be a hit or miss. There are days when the service was excellent, some days when it was kind of so-so, and some days when it was horrible. It may depend on the server. Good thing is that we've had more positive experiences than negative ones. Overall, food is great and service varies. Personally like this way more than Blue Line Pizza.

I ate here yesterday for lunch with a friend and we both really enjoyed our meals. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that it was a bit pricey for the amount of food that we got. Otherwise, my meal-the white bean soup with pancetta and a side of roasted turnips with walnuts and lemon vinaigrette-was spectacular as was my friend's meal! We split the 'coppa' of gelato and chose the brown butter, tahitian vanilla bean and chocolate hazelnut (yes, you get 3!) and they were all delicious!! I lived in Italy for 5 months so I know a good gelato when I taste it and damn, not too shabby for a California-made gelato! The chocolate hazelnut was definitely the best.

Yelp says about 1500 people could read this review next week. You know, instead of that, bring back the amount of page views I have. It was up in the 100k range before they took it down. Facebook can only give me so much validation, Yelp! Come on! Anyway. Pizzeria Delfina has been what is considered extremely trendy for the last five or six years. You could laugh at people who tried to just walk in on a Saturday night thinking they'd be seated immediately (like Little Star), brag about it on social media, blah blah blah. They expanded out of the Mission and into Pac Heights (or they started there..or something. Whatever), but it took several years of ridiculous waits and long drives before they opened up one in Burlingame. Just like their SF counterparts, there are breadsticks at each table and a tiny plate with dried herbs/spices/parmigiano cheese to add delicately to your already perfect pizza. All the ingredients are fresh, the crust is crunchy and yeasty, and their desserts aren't half bad (their cherry sundae reminds me of children's tylenol though so keep that in mind if you have bad memories of needing to take it as a kid. The fact that I followed it with a spoonful of chocolate doesn't help with the chocolate syrup added to the sundae, either). I've never had anything here I didn't like, except maybe the tricolored salad, to which my response when asked how I liked it was, "It's a bunch of leaves on a plate, so there's that." This place is great but...I just don't understand why people would wait two hours for a table here. It's not the complete bee's knees. I'd wait like, a half hour, maybe 45 minutes tops unless I was pregnant with a craving. Their wine selection is fine, and consistency is good. It's also hilarious when the guy at one of the prep stations keeps yelling "HANDS! Hands?!" and no one comes over to help. Four stars for a perfectly good night. Get the blood orange soda with prosecco. Also the vegan soup definitely tastes...vegan.

The cherry Bellini was nice but like everything else on the menu (other than pizza) Pizzeria Delfina is totally overpriced. I went here with my mother and boyfriend and we were all displeased with our food. Meatballs, marinated olives, cucumber salad etc. nothing was especially good and lunch for three people was $90. I am not willing to pay $90 to be surrounded on all sides by children in a restaurant with poor acoustics (it's a loud place even when half full). The table next to us had four children and a baby at it forcing me to rub elbows with a stroller all meal. The table behind my boyfriend had two children and the table on the other side of my mom had three. All of the kids were well behaved in general but it makes for at atmosphere that young 20 somethings will not find pleasing. Pizzeria Delfina is going to do very well in Burlingame because it allows the hoards upper middle class suburbanites a chance to eat at a "city" type restaurant that serves food their children will eat. Blue line down the street is a much better choice with a more diverse menu and has a patio that is not staring at a parking lot.

I came here to once again to try their pizzas and pastas but this time my family decided to order more appetizers for a better variety and to skip out on the pizzas (even though we still ordered quite a few). Once again we were given the crunchy "thin" bread sticks to snack on. FOOD: --Belfiore Burrata ($10.25): The burrata comes with arugula, crostini, and extra virgin olive oil. My favorite appetizer and even dish at Delfina for sure! This was perfect! So so so perfect. I liked this brand better than Di Stefano which is supposed to be the best and is much more expensive. It was not like the ones I've tried before. It was gooey, creamy, and it went really well with the olive oil. Putting it on crunchy toast and with the arugula makes it taste even better. I found the same brand at Whole Foods for $7 and it was good but didn't have that wow factor. Words can't explain how good Delfina's was. A must try!! --Chilled Tripe ($8.5): The tripe comes in a lemon, chili oil, and sea salt broth. It was pretty good since it had a different texture from what I expected (from the dim sum chinese-style kind). It was also much lighter than the dim sum type since those are so heavy and oily. --Penn Cove Mussels ($13): Nothing really special but mussels are mussels. The mussels come in a chili and garlic broth which was very tasty. -*Lumachine ($13): Another must try! This is a baked pasta. It was so cheesy and so delicious. Kids and cheese eaters alike would go crazy over this. It was basically a mac and cheese but with more cheese. I was sitting on the 2nd floor of Delfina and saw them making this. They literally use a whole chunk of cheese for each plate. --*Funghi ($18): It is topped with funghi hen of the woods, mushrooms, panna, fontina, and nepitella. If you love mushrooms, then you will like this one. I thought that the flavors in this one were good and the flavors did work together. However, I felt like something was missing because it was boring after the first slice. --*Amatriciana pizza ($16): It is topped with guanciale, chili, tomato, pecorino, and black pepper. Once again this was very well executed since it had the perfect balance of not salty and spicy. It wasn't overly salty and it had the perfect amount of heat to make it interesting but not to overwhelm you. It has stayed the same in terms of flavors in the two times that I have had it. --Coppa ($5/2 scoop + 1 scoop with those 2 flavors mixed): They always have different flavors while some are reoccurring. My favorites are the Espresso and Tahitian Vanilla Bean. Salted Caramel is pretty good as well. The mint flavor tasted like the one at Smitten with a different texture. It tasted too authentic for me. SERVICE: They are somehow always really nice and very quick to get us taken care of. Once again, I like how they are naturally nice and welcoming as opposed to the places that overdo it and will do anything to make me feel welcome when in reality they make me feel uncomfortable. SEATING/DECOR: There is quite a bit of seating but with the hype and the customers who rave and crave to come here, there is usually a wait to get a table. There are 2 floors where the 1st floor has tons of seating and the 2nd floors has about half the amount of seating as the first floor. I also like how they have a cute blackboard as the waiting list. The ceiling is quite high, which makes this place very trendy and stylish looking. OVERALL: I personally think that this place is pricey but you do get what you pay for. The quality is always top notch and they do use very high quality ingredients. I think that we ordered better this time since we had more variety. The appetizers were definitely stand-outs and my family agreed to order less pizzas and more pastas and appetizers. However, we somehow change our minds each time. OTHER INFO: -Highlights: Burrata, Lumachine -Avoid: Nothing really -Credit cards are usable -No reservations -Whole party must be present in order to be seated -No wifi * = not always on the menu

The food is pretty delicious. The menu is very tastefully put together, in general. The pizza is very good, but my favorite items on the menu are the apps, which are really on point, and after having gone there a couple times, I've learned that my favorite thing to do there is order a few apps and share those, which turns into a really tasty and satisfying meal. Their chilled soups specials -- of which I've tried two -- were both really delicious and refreshing on a warm day. My favorite app is their burratta cheese. Is there any better cheese in the world? There is not. Perfect pairing with the arugula. But I must agree with another poster that the crostini that come with this app are a bit too soaked in olive oil, and if the whole dish had a bit more lemon and salt on it, it would be perfection. The ambiance is really pleasant, and the small details, like your own bottle of water on the table, crispy breadsticks, and lovely outdoor back patio really add a lot. A tip: take advantage of the free dedicated parking behind the restaurant. On Burlingame Ave., free parking is a hot commodity!

We had been wanting to try this place for awhile. Finally decided on a lazy, nothing to do Saturday, to give it a try for lunch. Entered through the back parking lot, server said we could sit anywhere (we wanted to sit outside on the patio). Friendly service, maybe a bit slow, but not a dealbreaker at all. The menu consisted of very authentic regional Italian dishes, most of which sounded interesting, but not worth the price to risk it. We were provided with crunchy breadsticks. I was happily provided with the olive oil I knew would make them delicious. We ordered Peroni Shandy's, and the clam pizza and the sausage and peppers pizza. Took a bit longer than expected, even for pizza, but they kept our water and breadsticks replenished. The pizzas arrived, and were great. The crust was the right balance of crispy and chewy, though it needed salt. The proportions of toppings to cheese to sauce were different for each pizza, and spot on. Ordered a bowl of vanilla gelato and coconut sorbet, and it was the perfect end to our meal. Idk if we would go back unless the menu changes seasonally or frequently, because even we didn't see many dishes that excited us. The pizzas are pretty good, but a little overpriced. Overall, pretty good experience and pretty good food. Very nice outside patio, which is a big plus for us!

Always offering fresh, amazing menu, hard to pass up the pizza. Also commend the thoughtful service by all the staff which is positive, fun to talk with and consistently great! Nice Decore, atmosphere and parking in the back. For a place that is supposed to be famous for pizza, mediocre execution with a greasy and chewy pizza. Tried it twice and was the same both times. There are too many other places with better pizza including my kitchen.

The pizza was delicious, but the service was so bad I can't give more than two stars. To be fair, we went on a Saturday night and they were very busy. I had called ahead for a table for 3, and we encountered total chaos when we entered the restaurant. Even though it seemed like there were plenty of people working, it took about 10 minutes for someone even to notice that I was there, despite the fact that I was standing in line at the only cash register. When we were finally seated (and finally brought menus) we went ahead and ordered. We ordered two pizzas (one, the Napoletana made vegan for me, the other the Salsiccia with pepperoni for the other two diners with me) and one vegetable appetizer dish. We also ordered two beers, since they have a pretty decent selection on tap. After we ordered, we waited about 10 minutes and the beers never showed up. We still hadn't received our beers when the people sitting at the table next to us received theirs. They had been seated and ordered drinks well after we had been seated and ordered ours. When we caught the waitress's attention and asked her about the beers, she was surprised and apologized. They arrived soon after. Beer-lovers beware: this place is expensive. A 10oz glass of Port's Wipeout IPA is $8 (!!!). About 10 minutes later, both of our pizzas arrived. At this point, the vegetable appetizer was still MIA. When our waitress came by to see how we were doing, she noticed and went ahead and pestered the kitchen about it. They arrived soon after, but I mean, come on. Pretty sure it is a conceptual truth about appetizerhood that an appetizer is to be consumed before the main course. By the time ours arrived, we were ~50% done with our pizzas. I thought they might comp the beers or the appetizer because of all the mess ups, but nope. tl;dr: The pizza is very good but the service (at least on a Saturday night) is hilariously bad. I would recommend ordering take-out.

I really like this location which is large and bright. We came with a baby and the staff went out of their way to accommodate the stroller. Service was great (if a bit too attentive). Food was pretty good although there are better Napolitano style pizzerias in the Peninsula. The special baked pasta with cheese was amazing. It was like an Italian mac n cheese with a creamy tomato and shredded meat sauce, mozzarella cheese, and "snail shell" pasta. We also had the meatball appetizer which was pretty good. The meatballs were a bit dry but the sauce made it really flavorful. The bread that came with the meatballs was break-your-teeth hard. We had a the margherita pizza with prosciutto and arugula. The taste was fine but the crust hardened quickly and became tough and difficult too eat after the pizza had cooled down. Overall, a nice dining experience but better thin crust pizza can be found elsewhere.

Very disappointing experience tonight. My dinner companion and I have been to the Delfinas in the City many times and hold them in high esteem. This location just does not measure up. I typical don't focus reviews on service, but the service we got today was terrible. We finished our vegetable dish and meatballs, and waited for another 10 minutes or so for our pizza to come out. My friend politely asked our waitress about it, who acted so annoyed and put out by the question. She impatiently said it would be right out. The problem with an open kitchen and bar seating is that we could see her ask the cooks, who looked confused and had not even started the pizza. At no time did she acknowledge any error or apologize that we were waiting longer than usual. The clincher was at dessert time. I ordered an affogato. She told me it came with three scoops. I was surprised and asked her if it really came with three. She said yes. Later the bill came out and I was charged for an ice cream and extra for espresso (over $8!). When I pointed out the error, a different waitress came out and aggressively told me affogato does not come with three scoops, it comes with one scoop. As if this was my fault? She seemed really annoyed at having to fix the bill. This level of customer service is unacceptable for how much they charge. This location does a complete disservice to the Delfina brand. I'll stick with Blue Line for pizza next time I'm on Burlingame Ave.

Just finished an excellent dinner until I went to bathroom and watched a kitchen worker come out without washing his hands. Disgusting. Guy with blue cap at end of line, not a dishwasher but someone that peeps food. I can't imagine eating there again if I walk in seeing that person. Really, really disgusting.

Just as great as the one in the city! My only complaint was that we were told a 15 minute wait time but it ended up being 45 minutes, with many other people that came after us, also two tops, getting sat before us. That frustration quickly went away since the service is so fast and the food so good! We tried the Margherita and the 4 fromaggi pizzas with warm olives and meatballs as appetizers. The pizzas were amazing- the best sauce! The meatballs were good as usual, but this time I was obsessed with thewarm marinated olives! They were served in a small cast iron container that was so cute. The olives was a mix of about 4 different kinds. They were warm, and marinated in olive oil, lemon peel and a chilli pepper. They were amazing! I think we will probably go here again, it's easier, and less of a wait than the mission one. Cheers!

Chilled tomato soup with burrata was the special soup of the day. Very nice, fresh, tomatoey. Maybe a touch too much salt slightly overpowered, but it was still very good. Arancini were delightfully seasoned, lightly fried poppers with some nice mozzarella in the middle. Pizza's had a nice crust which you'd expect. The margarheta was a little too watery though for my taste, but still a good pizza.

First not so great meal at Pizzeria Delfina The cucumber salad was a little too sweet and also too astringent. I love pickled cucumbers but these lacked balance Speaking of balance, one of the margherita pizzas was just plain dough with very lite tomato in spots, and missing cheese. Yet another margherita pizza at our table was great. The roast chicken on a bed of arugula was very good. The last time I had it it was over seasoned. The meatball main dish was excellent. Gelatos with chocolate sauce on the side were yummy In conclusion, the food here can be really good but sometimes misses. Service was also less than great tonight. One server put down a glass of white wine although my friend ordered rose. It was for a nearby table. Then another server wanted to give us food we did not order that was also for another table. So what might be four stars was only 3 tonight

Stopped by here for lunch and didn't have to go all the way to the mission! First of all, no line or wait. That made me happy. Next, the food was just like it is in SF. Great pizza and meatballs! I like the margarita pizza and meatballs on the side. The meat balls are HUGE. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. Quality is great. Service was great! They refilled my soda without me asking. A small gesture like that goes a long way. Very cool art on the walls of the Burlingame train stop with the Golden Gate Bridge on one side and bay bridge on the other.

This might be my favorite of the Delfinas. I love the back patio. It's spacious and easy to park. I love love love the broccolini rabe pizza. And the summer pea shoot salad was heaven on the lips. The wine selection pairs perfectly with these delicious pies.

It doesn't quite compare to the experience of eating in a cozy little place in the Mission, but it's quite good. Lots of seating, including an outdoor patio area and some room upstairs. Usually we'll get at least one pizza (usually the salsiccia), a salad (my favorite is the tuna conserva with beans and watercress), some pasta (spaghetti, kids' penne). The pizza is piping hot; the crust has a nice chew. Some of the seasonal salads are quite good. Bonus points for being a place that both the kids and in-laws like. Just as an aside (and probably not all that surprising) - the spaghetti with tomato sauce isn't the same as the one at the Delfina restaurant (aka our favorite pasta dish ever). The noodles are a bit thicker and the sauce is sweeter and earthier.

This place left a bad taste in my mouth from a second I stepped in, I should have known better than to stay but I did and here is the 1 star yelp review... Upon entering through the back with a co worker for a lunch on a Thursday afternoon, one of the women (in a bart simpson sweatshirt and knee high doc martens) behind the counter snarkily said, "Just walking through?!" ...um, no, if she took 1 second to look ahead of me she would see my co-worker speaking with the hostess to get us seated... We were seated in a corner table and then waited on by the snarky woman in the bart simpson sweater, go figure. My mary's roasted chicken salad was tasty, until I found the sticker for the cucumber STILL ON THE CUCUMBER in my salad. pretty gross if you ask me. The service was sub par and at this point I was honestly so appalled by the first impression of our waitress assuming we were just "walking through" the restaurant that it wasn't worth saying anything. I will say, however, I placed the cucumber sticker on the side of the plate with the pepper, and parm cheese, which the waitress first removed when taking our plates, and she didn't so much as say a word. Of course she didn't. I should have known she wouldn't. Just a bunch of hype. Maybe the Pizza here is good, but they could invest in some decent service and some decent staff ... #justSayin' How Sad. I intend to share with everyone what a terrible experience I had here.

We had the veggie pizza - olives and broccoli rabbe. Crust was solid and perfect! The topping was slightly salty to me - perhaps due to the olives? Busy place. Good location - right on the Burlingame street festival area. Good customer service. Got seated right away. Wait staff was patient in my request for ice as it was a hot day in August when I visited this place. The place had no air condition it was quite uncomfortable eating a hot/warm pizza during the hot August summer day. Wish the place had an air conditioner. Street parking.

Service was absolutely terrible! Our waiter did not pour water or wine for us and kept rushing out orders. I get that they are trying to turn tables but this Delfina is most definitely resting off the hype of its original store front. I would order to go but will not be back for a fine in experience. They need some new waiters before that would happen!

Food is great, albeit a little "precious" and stingy. Service is consistently too cool to be there. Been here many times and finally gettingthe fact that it's thier "culture" not just an off night for service.

Had the Green Goddess salad and the margarita pizza with fresh mozzarella. The salad was very tasty. I had never had Green Goddess dressing so that was a treat. The pizza was good but not the best I've ever had. It was bland but that could be because we ordered a plain pizza. One salad and one pizza served three of us, ladies, just fine.

My now bf took me here on our 1st date. He got there first (right at 6 pm) and as I was walking towards the restaurant, I saw several people in line outside waiting. (I haven't been to this one particularly but I have been to the one in SF so I was already expecting that the food will be just as good) Their waiting list is kind of cool coz they write your name on the wall outside the door. (Just keep an eye out of the list to make sure that no one will erase your name! Ha) We got seated after 25 minutes. It was cool since we met some new friends in line. (His name was Joe and he kept telling us that he goes to this location a few times a month. He used to own a pizzeria so this guy is legit, I thought. It just meant that we hit the jackpot by coming here. Then, we got seated and our lady server was the nicest one there. (Leticia!! ) I am particular with my wine so she gave me 3 tastes of their best reds. We opted for the Prosecco and got a bottle. It was light and very tasty. We started with a few things such as the warm olives, arugula salad with burrata. So delish! The olives weren't too salty and served warm with olive oil. It's perfect with our wine. We also had their "Antipasti Salad Jersey Style" served with Molinari salami, provolone, pepperoncini, organic cherry tomatoes, red onion, ceci & oregano. I have to say.. this is probably the most unique and tasty salad I have ever had. It's a mixture of salty and savory, it melts in your mouth. Each bite is just as good as the first. And for the pizzas.. We got the Salsiccia (Housemade fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers, onions, mozzarella) and the 4 Formaggi (Tomato, mozzarella, fontal, provolone, pecorino). My bf is a total meat eater so you can just imagine how happy he was when they came to our table. Both pizzas were thin crusted, some are lightly burned on the edges (just the way I like it) and so, so tasty. And we didn't stop there. Of course we had to get desserts. We shared 2 gelatos (Vanilla Bean and Dulce de Leche which is made with Buffalo milk). My bf also had the Affogato. It was the perfect combination to end our dinner. Over-all, our experience was quite lovely. We were there for 4 hours! The best four hour dinner as now, the date turned into a relationship. We're now together. Thanks to Delfina! Food is delicious; ambience is casual yet relaxed; dog and kid-friendly; amazingly nice staff. You will not regret it.

3 stars Thin crust pizza is good and saffron balls are tasty. Staff are nice but some other issues that made me rate this 3 instead of 4 stars Skimpy on amount of clams on the clam pie Found a piece of plastic IN our salad Extra charge for crostini Overpriced salad for small portion sizing $15 cake fee when we brought a small side dessert bc the restaurant doesn't have any cake. Not a big deal but another annoyance to our entire experience.

Man, every time I eat here I leave so happy! I once again turned someone onto the gloriousness of the Little Gem salad...Add a margarita pizza and their delicious stuffed shells and wow! The stuffed shells have anchovies and I guess lemon. Normally I am a fan of anchovy flavor but not actual anchovies. But the preparation just added so much to an already fabulous dish. I would say this is likely my favorite salad and pizza place but that doesn't give enough credit to the ambiance, service or yummy wine. I think it's a great casual dining spot whether with friends, family or a date. For dessert, we shared the TCHO chocolate gelato and the peach almond brittle. The combination was awesome and wow, such yummy gelato!

This is yet another proof that all the SF restaurants are extending their feelers down the peninsula. In fact, it is probably not easy to get a table here on the weekends -- and parking in Burlingame has gotten pretty horrible as of late. Luckily for us, we came on a week night. The pizza was fine. Yep, that's it, fine. There are a lot of places in the bay area that have certainly spoiled my appetite... and Delfina's pizza crust is not chewy nor thin enough for my tastes. The mister liked it better than I did, so maybe it's a preference problem. Or maybe it was because of the lack of balance of the prosciutto pizza. Just meat slapped onto cheese -- scrumptious, but too single-noted and a bit overwhelming for me. I prefer a good balance of ingredients over the "slap everything fatty onto a pie!" approach.

I have heard a lot of great things about Pizzeria Delfina in SF, but never really got around to trying them out. So when I found that they opened a restuarant in Burlingame, it finally gave me a chance since they're a lot closer to my home. I've been there twice already and both times were great experiences. During my first visit I came in solo for lunch and sat at their bar. Luckily for me, my seat was very close to kitchen so it was fun watching the chefs making pizza and other entrees. For this lunch, I actually decided to go meatless and ordered their Saffron Arancini, Margherita Pizza, and had their Affogato for dessert. Saffron Arancini -- bit.ly/1jhity4 I'm a sucker for deep fried cheesy risotto balls. Delfina's Saffron Arancini are probably some of the best Arancini I've had. I'd probably order these more than once but I'd need to leave room for other things, like pizza? Margherita -- bit.ly/1vZ8qri Tomato, fior di latte mozzarella, basil I went with the most basic of pies at Delfina. I read that this was one of the best Margheritas in San Francisco. Was it good? I think so. The crust had a nice chew but not too doughy, and the sauce and fresh mozzarella were good. It was a bit miniscule with the basil though. I can't say that this is was the best margherita I've ever had, but it's a solid pie nonetheless. Affogato with Mint Stracciatella Gelato -- bit.ly/1jhoyuF Try this with the mint gelato. It's a great combo with the coffee. This was a nice treat to have after absorbing all those carbs. My second visit I went with my friends and we ordered a whole spread from the menu: Neapolotan Meatballs in Sugo -- bit.ly/1ngsKfD Pork, beef & veal meatballs w/ tomato sauce & crostini The meatballs were very good. Nice blend of meats and the sugo paired well for good flavor. It's a great appetizer or could even be considered a meal for some. Grilled Radicchio -- bit.ly/1kfQHnz Pancetta, mozzarella, chili, rosemary This pie was one of their specials and on paper it sounded good, but in the end we found it to be very bitter in flavor. Broccoli Raab with Egg and Mushrooms -- bit.ly/1kfQVv1 Star Route Farms Broccoli raab, caciocavallo, mozzarella, olives, hot peppers For a veggie pie, this was great! Adding the egg to this made it even better! Prosciutto Pie with Mushrooms -- bit.ly/1mTLhEn Prosciutto di Parma, caciocavallo, mozzarella, panna, arugula This was my favorite pie of the night. I've been a fan of throwing arugula on pizza and with the smokey prosciutto, it was a perfectly balanced pie in terms of flavor and richness. So overall, after two trips to Pizzeria Delfina, I've been pretty satisfied with everything here from the ambiance, to the service, and esepcially the food. I will most certainly be making more return trips here in the future. I especially want to come back to try their fried chicken which they only make on Mondays. A very solid 4 stars!

The good: -Pizzeria Deflina is a good place to carboload the day before a half marathon. Pasta, pizza, bread sticks - carbs galore. The bad: -I dislike menu items that I feel like I can make myself. We ordered the only pasta item on the menu, but I don't even remember the name or ingredients. Basically, they were parallelogram-shaped pasta with marinara and some sort of pulled meat. I don't think any type of pulled meat goes well with pasta, not to mention the pasta was super al dente, to the point where I was wondering whether it was just undercooked. I honestly feel like I have made tastier pasta that is also safer for the molars. -We also ordered the margherita pizza. The mozzarella cheese was soft and chewy, but the basil was very sparse. I think we counted like four leaves of basil. Perhaps we should have requested extra basil, but if the only ingredients on a margherita pizza is mozzarella and basil, one would think more basil would be included. Overall, our party enjoyed the chill atmosphere and was happy to have filled up on carbs, but a bit disappointed with the restaurant, especially considering the hype.

This looks like a great place to have lunch, but for some reason it was unusually slow. It was over 50+ minutes for a cheese pizza to be made and the meatballs. Also, the service was terrible. No one checked on us or asked how the food was and the wait staff was aware of the kitchen back up and did not mention it til the last minute. The pizza was pretty ordinary nothing special, and their tomato sauce is extremely greasy for the meatballs. I wonder how a simple cheese pizza can take 50+ minutes and when the attention is terrible I recommend you try one of the other pizza places in the area such as Blueline Pizza who have great attention and are not overly snobby and overpriced.

The food was disappointing and a little bit of service. We had an order for spaghetti and thought "Did we order off the kids menu?" The portion was so small it was like an appetizer or even a side dish. Meatballs - SALTY! Salty enough to not finish it and return it back to the kitchen. I never turn down food, but this had to go. Service of food - Not fun when you receive half of the table's orders. Waiting for your friend's food to be served while your food is getting cold. Luckily it was FRICK'IN HOT! I don't want to complain about the server because she wasn't that bad. One thing I wish this server would have done is ask us at least once "how was the food?". I had to flag the server down as she served the table next to us, just to complain. She handled our complaint and was understanding. She took the item off our bill and offered ice cream on he house. Oh it's also expensive for small portions that was disappointing. I would give it 1 star but gave a little more for the serving taking care of our complaint.

Gooood pizza, Best? No. Una Pizza Napoletana yelp.com/biz/una-pizza-n… still has that title, but its damn good. Probably my third on the list after Del Popolo. So I'm sure most would of heard of this place by now. I first heard about this place from the New York Times list of 50 top pizza places in the US, it was rated #2 on the list. Obviously we've gotta try it! However the location in the Mission is almost impossible to get to. Very small and hardly any seating. Not to mention the huge lines and the parking nightmare that is the Mission. Forget it. They recently opened up this Burlingame location and its much more spacious and there's plenty of parking around Burlingame ave. Alright lets get some of the things out of the way. Decor: casual, fancy, newish, clean. Tick. Service: Attentive, friendly staff, helpful and professional. Tick. Wines: Good mixtures of Italian and Californian wines. Tick. Beers: Great selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles. Tick. Good for Kids. Tick Good for Groups. Tick (though they don't do reservations for tables after 6pm, but they can put your name down on the board) Ok, So the most important things... The pizzas. Why is it 3rd on my list? Let's take the Margarita as the judge. Honestly the topppings for all 3, Una Pizza Napoletana, Del Popolo, and Delfina, are very very close. I'd say almost identical. The dough is where the difference seems to be. If Delfina's was just a little bit more fluffy with a little more bite to it, I think it would be a very close 2nd. Also they need more basil on their Margarita. We had maybe 3-4 leaves, need just an extra couple more so we can taste it on each slice. We did order some other pizzas as well: Carbonara: yep tasted like Carbonara, the egg is raw-ish, so beware if that's not your thing. Four Cheese: Didn't get to try this, but a few say it was the best pizza of the night. Salsiccia: Fennel sausage wasn't for me. But it was a good pie. We also did order a serve of the Crispy Pig Ears, which was good, but a lot of what we got was actually onion rather that pig. *shrug*. Overall I'd definitely come back here again for the pizzas, super glad they opened up this location.

Can't speak for the food here but the moment we sat down I just wanted to leave so bad. We arrived at the door and the waiter walked the group in front of us to their table immediately, but then returned without bringing us to our table. We were standing there like " what the heck?". About 1 minute later he turned around asked us how many people without apologizing. There were plenty of tables so no point to ignore us. He walked us to our table but I still felt pissed off, yet their menu has very few selections and doesn't seem appetizing so we just walked out the restaurant. There are plenty more good restaurants around this place which we can get better service and food. I am glad we didn't stay here to eat.

The food is amazing but the service is horrible. I have been to this place 3 times in the last month and the service is consistently horrible. If you want to enjoy good food but have the patience to suffer through horrible customer service, then this is your place.

Wood gets me really excited and there was so much wood at Delfina. I had a date night with the gbf and sbf at Delfina and we were seated upstairs. Since it was our first time, the waitress explained the whole menu to us, told us their most popular picks, and gave us some time to think about our orders. After some discussion, we decided on the lamb pie, brussel sprouts, meatballs, and then we also each chose a wine/beer pairing with the assistance of our waitress. The best of the three was the brussel sprouts. I definitely could've had another order all to myself. Brussel sprouts are hard to cook to perfection, but Delfina does it right /thumbsup. The lamb pie was really just an "a-ok". For a restaurant that starts with "Pizzeria", you'd think their pies would blow your mind. Negative. The waitress said their meatballs were a super popular pick and wow it was such a huge letdown. You know who has good meatballs? Ikea. While the food didn't amaze me, the design of the restaurant itself deserves three stars. I loved the chalkboard waiting list, wood walls and tables, and small details placed on each table. The menu itself is also printed every day and they have specials for each day that are handwritten in. Pretty cool! For the three of us, the bill came out to be about $80. Pretty pricey for mediocre food! With so many other options around the area and Blue Line pizza down the block, I don't know if I'd wander back.

This is my favorite pizza place in town. The pizzas have a nice crispy crust that isn't too thin. I really enjoy the arugula and prosciutto pizza while my husband enjoys the sausage pizza. Both are delicious. They are small pizzas so I recommend getting a few and sharing them. They have Devil's Canyon root beer that goes perfectly with your pizza and each table is set with super skinny breadsticks. Get the gelato. You won't regret it. I've tried each flavor and they are all good in their own way. Be prepared to wait here. Put your name in and do some window shopping on the avenue, because everyone else in town has figured out how good Delfina is too!

Had dinner here before dropping off people at SFO. This was our second time here and for us the food is better than its SF location. Ordered several items and a couple pizzas. Shared it all. FRESH-STRETCHED MOZZARELLA, w/ arugula, crostini & extra virgin olive oil. This was the only dish that was just meh, kinda bland. BRUSSELS SPROUTS, w/ mint & lemon. Perfect amount of mint and lemon. "ANTIPASTI SALAD" JERSEY STYLE, Molinari salami, provolone, pepperoncini, red onion, ceci & oregano. Delicious, I guess my NJ heritage shows through. Need more... soon :). NEAPOLITAN MEATBALLS IN SUGO, Pork, beef & veal meatballs w/ tomato sauce & crostini. Also delicious, 3 huge meatballs. PIZZA SALSICCIA, Housemade fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers, onions, mozzarella. Crispy and chewy crust, generous amount of sausage, yum. PIZZA CLAM PIE, Cherrystones, tomato, oregano, pecorino, hot peppers, crispy, very good flavor with a bit of kick. A scoop of homemade walnut gelato and an affogato (both good) finished the meal. When the timing is right, coming to Pizzeria Delfina, before or after SFO is an excellent choice.

This review is for Sunday, July 27th. And this was my first Delfina experience. Since I no longer live in the Bay Area I was super excited at the chance to eat here, which is why we braved the elements and sat on the outside patio. Typically, I'm sure this isn't a problem but it was HOT AS BALLS on Sunday. The two tables that were already occupied around us had their dogs... Then there was us. Next a family of 8 sat down, 4 of which were children under 10, the youngest probably 4 or 5. They were literally crying at one point. Their mom said if they cry again their not eating. Thank goodness for everyone they left. Tables around us were shielding themselves with menus. When we asked to move indoors because there were lakes of sweat forming on our clothes we were told there were no tables available. We asked if we could sit upstairs since there was an entire section open with no one up there and we were told no. In all fairness, our water glasses were never empty. But we had to keep asking for ice. And each time they brought out one small glass for our table of 4. When I mentioned to our waitress that we were melting *hint keep the ice coming lady! She mentioned that she had to go and buy another shirt from Gap when she found out that she was working outside. TMI. We ordered 3 pizzas, the meatballs and the pasta special. The food was amaze, but the heat was so intense that by the end we literally felt like we had heat stroke. Waitress asks us if we're interested in house-made gelato. I asked if there was a patio special for us braving the heat. She responded with, "I wish." Yeah we all wish. Overall the food was pretty delicious but the service was amateur at best. The Mexican restaurant next door has umbrellas on their patio...

I don't like this Delfina branch as much as the one in the city. Margherita is my benchmark pie and the one here was seriously lacking basil power. The flavors were just too weak. Salsiccia was much better. Pie texture was overall more than decent but I really wish they have done a better job with the Margherita. A shame. Really.

I thought I wouldn't be able to eat much at Delfina since I only had breakfast an hour and a half before, but I ended up having 3 slices of very delicious and different tasting pizzas. Delfina's pizzas are light and crispy, so you can fit many slices in your stomach. We ordered the napoletana, salsiccia, and carbonara (limited time special). They were all GOOD! The napoletana had the most drool-worthy marinara sauce, fresh herb, and anchovy taste to it. I think this is a love-it-or-leave it pizza since marinara and especially anchovies aren't for everyone, but if you enjoy these flavors you will LOVE this pizza! The salsiccia was so meaty. A meat lover's pizza. The sausage was savory powerful flavorful. The carbonara was interesting because of the runny egg. I enjoyed it as well. The crust made for very yummy bread sticks. It got to be a little too much bread by the end of the second crust so I had to abandon the third one. I do also wish there were more non-pizza options; if they could consider bulking up their pasta menu that would be awesome. The space itself is light, airy, well-ventilated, and the server was friendly. There is private parking in the back, and you can get the ticket validated. Otherwise there is relatively cheap metered street parking or metered parking lots, most with old school meters that accept only coins (come on Burlingame, Pay by Phone or credit cards please?!) Moral of the story is, when you think you can't fit anything else into your stomach, go to Delfina's!

Was in the area running errands so decided to pick up a margherita pizza after a busy day of school and errands. I also ordered the saffron rice balls and added the house made fennel sausage to the pizza. Ahh so good wish I lived closer! Every thing was perfect!

Delicious meal when in town this past week on business, from the East Coast. Sat outside with my friend on dog-friendly Burlingame Avenue, with her dog, who was treated as well as we were. Had a great variety of small plates and then the gluten-free spaghetti, which was greatly appreciated by this woman with celiac disease. From burrata to marinated olives, to CA small gem lettuce salad to spaghetti squash to GF spaghetti with simple butter and parmesan...not one dish disappointed. Each was special. And the staff was attentive and HAPPY. Such a great town. What a beautiful back patio....I'll enjoy that next time. The dog loved a few morsels of fennel sausage his owner shared. I'll post a pic of him, quite satisfied after dinner.

I'm giving this place 5 stars for customer service. I came here while visiting my boyfriend in SF. We came around 730 on a Friday and this place was packed. We put our names on the chalk wall and was told it was going to be a 30 minute wait. We lucked out and stole a spot at the bar as it was first come first served. Once seated we ordered the tricolore salad and two pizzas, the margarita and Salsicca. We waited over 20 minutes for the salad which we thought was a long time. After the salad we waited another 35 minutes for both pizzas. Once we finally got everything, I can say it was all great, but I want to highlight that after we patiently waited for our pizza, the server took it off our check as we had waited roughly an hour. We never requested this or complained, but because the server knew we waited so long they happily took it off the bill. Out of both pizzas, I'd say the margarita was better. I also liked the salad a lot but it was on the small side.

We've been meaning to try this place for a while. There's one in SF but we went to Burlingames location since it was closer. We went on a beautiful day and sat outside in the back patio. It was nice and pleasant. Our waitress was really nice. Service was quick and friendly. The good was great!! We ordered the prosciutto pizza, the jersey salad and a soup to share. All were really good. The pizza was thin and crispy and had good flavor. The prosciutto was soooo good. Will definitely order again. We also ordered some non-alcoholic strawberry and vanilla soda. That was awesome. Loved it! The vanilla was so better both both were AWESOME .

Great lunch and dinner spot on Burlingame Ave! They have outdoor seating in front which was perfect for our sunny lunch, or they have great spaces inside, upstairs, and in the back of the restaurant. We had the beet salad, house-made spaghetti (simple but chewy and awesome), thin-crust sausage pizza, grilled asparagus with a farm fresh egg, tricolore salad, and gelato for dessert. Everything was great, especially the light vinaigrette on the tricolore salad. Their drinks were nice too--good espresso and house-made vanilla soda. Presentation was pretty, and the food was yummy! Definitely recommend this place.

I can't remember what we did for pizza prior to Delfina's arrival in Burlingame! By now, we've mostly sampled the entire menu. Most recently, we once again ordered the beet salad with goat cheese and farro. Fabulous, as always. In addition, we ordered the saffron arancini. You can't really go wrong with anything fried, and deep fried risotto balls are no exception! These could've done with an additional pinch of salt and spice for a stronger flavor, but were otherwise fried well. The salsicca and margherita are generally our two favs, but this time we opted to try the broccoli raab and and the napoletana (minus the anchovies, and plus the cheese). The broccoli raab was definitely overly salty. I couldn't figure out whether this is standard for this pie, or whether the chef just had an extra heavy hand on this night. If usually salty, I probably wouldn't order this one again - it was just a bit too much. The napoletana, in contrast, had tons of flavor in the sauce and also due to the capers and hot peppers. The line is getting shorter, so there is hope! We love this place, and we'll continue to return!

Ever have one of those days you're craving some something that's comforting, kind of cheesy, filling, but not to the point that you'll be in a food coma? The family and I just spent the day walking around SF playing tourist, and were on the road heading some along the Peninsula. We were in the mood for dinner, and I suggested this checking out this place, since it was along the way. Got there around 7:30 PM, and expected a wait for a table. Ten minutes later, they called us, and were seated up on the mezzanine, overlooking the entire restaurant, including the open kitchen. We went through the menu, and gave our order to the wait-person. Food came out very quick. Here's what we ordered: -Broccoli Ciccio ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pizz… ): broccoli with garlic and capers. Served cold, kind of reminds of Chinese preparation of Broccoli, but very tasty. Well prepared, not overly cooked. -Neapolitan Meatballs in Sugo ( yelp.com/biz_photos/pizz… ): Three meat balls cooked in little cast iron pan, served with 3 buttery slices of crostini. Moist meatballs, and a nice fresh and lively tomato sauce. Crostini was perfect to soak up all of the sauce. -Margherita: A classic with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and basil. Arrived hot to the table with cheese oozing with each slice. The crust of this pizza was outstanding. A thin, yet chewy crust that held the cheese and sauce together without falling apart. Nice blistering on the edges! -4 Formaggi: Similar to the Margherita, but with fontal, provolone, pecorino, with the mozzarella. Nice blend of cheeses that complemented well with each other. Crust outstanding as well. Service was quick and efficient. Loved the layout out of restaurant, and well as the availability of an outdoor patio in the back. If you love thin crust pizza, this is your place. We'll be back!

Came in on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and the place was busy but my party of 3 was seated right away. Wait staff was pleasant and patient in answering our questions. We ordered the clam pizza that came with a light tomato sauce and the broccoli rabe that had a cream base. Both pizzas were outstanding and the crust had a perfect chew to it. Lovely ambiance and accommodating for larger parties. Kid friendly. Prices were competitive to upscale pizzerias - $11-17 a pop. Parking is always tricky in downtown Burlingame, but there are various lots like one at Burlingame and El Camino. I'll be back!

Prior to going to this location, I had been to the one in SF and just remember eating one of their simple, yet tasty thin crust pizzas. We went to this location in Burlingame as a department off-site for lunch. Our managers worked with the restaurant to create a menu to be shared family-style. Here's what we had: WARM MARINATED OLIVES (Castelvetrano, Peranzana, Gaeta & oil-cured black olives) - I'm not a big fan of olives other than the canned black ones, so to be honest, I didn't even try them. My coworkers seemed to enjoy them though. BELFIORE BURRATA served w/ arugula, crostini & extra virgin olive oil - one of my favorite dishes. Super flavorful, the bread was doused with olive oil and toasted so it had a nice outer crunch and chewy interior. I spread on some burrata and arugula and it was perfection. LITTLE GEM LETTUCES "CALIFORNESE" w/ buttermilk dressing, avocado, pistachios & herbs - pretty good, but nothing amazing. The lettuce was definitely coated with dressing (maybe a little too much?). MARTIN'S FARM ARUGULA & CITRUS w/ fennel & walnuts - refreshing flavors, but again, nothing amazing. MARGHERITA pizza - I'm usually never really a fan of margherita pizzas to begin with, but the crust was a good texture and not too heavy. PROSCIUTTO PIE - the prosciutto added a good flavor and saltiness to the pizza that I appreciated, but I can't imagine eating more than a slice or two of the prosciutto. NEAPOLITAN MEATBALLS IN SUGO (Pork, beef & veal meatballs w/ tomato sauce & crostini) - I thought these would be amazing, but they were just okay. Our crostini slices game out saturated in oil and slightly burnt. Not my favorite. MARY'S CHICKEN ALLA DIAVOLA (Half a roasted bird w/ rosemary, chili & black pepper) - amazing. I did not see this one coming, but the chicken was moist and nicely seasoned! Probably another one of my favorites. BRUSSELS SPROUTS w/ mint & lemon - pretty good. A little too salty for my taste, but nicely roasted. ERBETTE CHARD w/ garlic & chili - pretty good. Again, nothing amazing. Tahitian Vanilla Bean & Tcho Chocolate gelato - I was stuffed, but who can resist gelato? Tasty :) As a side note, they serve bottled Coca-cola! Good service and good food. If I returned, I would probably stick to the burrata and chicken... Weird for a pizza place, huh?

We came here for an early lunch on Saturday and sat in the back patio area. Food was delicious and the waitstaff were helpful and nice! Peroni Shandy - Not usually a fan of lemonade, but this lemonade beer was refreshing and not so sweet. It's a yummy light beer to have early in the day! Insalata Tricolore- We needed something green with the meal so we ordered this salad. The lemon dressing was good, but the salad is a bit small and definitely not hearty. Hard to share with a group of four. Neopolitan meatballs in Sugo - Tasty mix of pork, beef, and veal meatballs. Good to share, but not earthshattering. Amatriciana Pizza with fried egg - The favorite pizza in the group. Guanciale is a main ingredient in the pizza, and is a cured meat. According to our watiress, this is the latest craze and may be more popular than prosciutto someday! Our group loved this pizza! Burrata Pie - It was a simple yet delicious pizza. Yum! It was a perfect place to take out of town guests to!

The Pizzeria Delfina; not the original location, but still quite a bit if hubbub about this place. Round of applause to the interior designer. It's a very modern contemporary design, which always rocks my socks, so well done designer. Onto the food! Before going into what we ordered, in every category (or almost every category) there are some new editions for the night that reflect what produce they received. So that's kinda cool, if you're into that organic/locally grown/hipster ish. Knowing that, we ordered brussel sprouts, meatballs, and their lamb sausage. Of those items, I believe the meatballs were the only item from the set menu, so it's possible you may never get to try them HAHA (oops). Regardless, the Brussels sprouts were bomb, cooked to perfection. The meatballs, eeeh. I wasn't impressed, but apparently they're very popular (on the set menu). And the pie? It was good, but it didn't blow me away. We also all ordered drinks, thank you to our server for the wine pairing suggestion. Mine of which was also not on the set menu haha. Nevertheless, the dining experience was great, but the only dish that stuck out to me was the Brussels sprouts dish. And for a pizzeria with all hype? That shouldn't be the case. Good place, but didn't live up to expectations. That being said, I'd still come back.

*Take out I was really excited to have Delfina in the Peninsula. My last Delfina run was in SF and cost me a 2 hour wait, which was totally worth it. Burlingame's Delfina was not as crowded. Not even close at 9:30PM on a Friday. Still, I opted for take out. I was told 10 minutes but waited 20. The pizza itself was very good, just like I remembered it. Nice chewy crust and fresh cheese. On this particular night they really skimped on the basil, bummer. Overall I'd come back and probably stay there to eat next time.

Ordered the 4 Formaggi pizza....it was good but small for the price. Pizza comes in one size I guess. One pizza is good for about 2 people but I wouldn't be surprised if one person finishes a pizza on their own. They have thin breadsticks on the tables. I wasn't a fan. They were hard and tasted somewhat stale. The sodas are served from a glass bottle. $4 for a regular glass bottle of Coke. Wow!

Ok, so i said i was going to give them another try and i did. And I'm glad i did. Both the pizzas we tried today were exceptionally good! The margherita was terrific! The mozzarella in the pizza was the highlight. The sauce was perfect with the mozzarella and their crust has been my favorite anyway. The panna was delicious also. I will be coming back for the margherita again and again and again!!

ekkkkkkkkkk. Don't hate me Peninsula hipster/foodies, but this place is just ok. With all the hype coming from the city Delfina family, I thought this place was going to be amazing. Sad to say the two times we have been there I have been underwhelmed. Their menu is extremely flat. Zero imagination. OK, not zero, but coming from the city you had better be packing. The sausage pizza and their house made drinks are the best things about this place. Vestas makes this place look like Papa Johns.

The way people talk about pizza, the cynicism, the self-proclaimed righteousness, the amount of trying to be PC. Pledging for thin crust and Chicago is as left and right wing as American politics can get. But as food become increasingly more democratized and a number of restaurants attempting to fill the void that is our stomach, expanding into every sunshine-studded neighborhoods to rich untapped markets, the general consensus of restaurants trying to define itself is at an all-time high, which leads me to talk about Pizzeria Delfina. I still remember my first experience with Delfina in the city, after gawking at my instagram crush, her weekly posts of apparent "favorite" pizza joint at the time. In a slight-hopeless-romantic-yet-non-confrontational-kinda-way, I decided to visit the fine establishment in hopes of possibly running into her and her besties on one of their Sunday funday SATC-esque carbloading muthafoiegras escapades. I still have vivid recollection of that day, like a LSD outpatient in the Mission with starry eyed flashbacks. There was something about the whole experience of meeting someone you never met before, all that anticipatory build up, senses becoming keen to the environment that clung around me. The smell, the ambience, the decor, upon arrival I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by sheer sensations. Surrounded by people with wide-wale corduroy blazers with apparent Oliver Peoples frames smoking parliaments, the oddity of SF fashion overpriced vintage that aren't vintage. There was something special about Delfina, as noted by the typography, very clean and modern. As I will soon discover, a motif that carries throughout the night and dining experience. Brightly-lit, organic, fresh straight forward ingredients, though I admit I had some trouble pronouncing items on the menu sotto voce. To some, Delfina won't hit the hearty and savory note, however for me it was a breathe of fresh air. Each individual pizza showcased the highlighted ingredients well, even the chilled tripe appetizer was sublime. A bit underrated, the homemade gelato which were simply exquisite. Since that night ended, what seem like two scores and seven years ago in the conceptual timeframe of twitter, Delfina had expanded into various suburbs. To be honest, I was joyous. City parking, I just CANNOT-EVEN-DEAL. Now days, I conveniently call and pick up whenever I feel the urge to stuff my face with what seemingly healthy pizza (one of the lies I tell myself in life, moving on). Some pointers, contrary to what I have said earlier I would recommend dining at the restaurant. Not for spotting milfs and cougars, but for the honest simple truth dough needs to be eaten fresh out of the oven to be fully appreciated. Some pizza are good when cold and even better left overnight, Delfina is not one of them, try DiGiorno. This is the end of my confession, might ask what happened with the infatuation? Well, it's been one week since I checked her IG, five days since she laughed at me, three days since the living room, yesterday... It's funny how life unravels itself sometimes, one night searching for a girl, the next falling truly madly deeply in love with pizza.

Margherita pizza is usually the benchmark for how good the place is. Compared to other pizza places, this place's pizza is bland. No great smell like other places and definitely skimping on the basil. Basil is an integral part of a margherita pizza. All we got is 2.5 basil leaves. Seeing 2.5 pieces of basil leaves on a six slice, 12" pizza is definitely not enough. Are basil leaves that expensive for a $15 pizza? Shared this with the server who acted very surprise to hear that this is a common feedback by other clients on YELP. Really? We were thinking of ordering the corn, but $8 for one corn cob is just highway robbery, no matter what toppings they put on it. In short, not quite sure what the hype is with this place.

`I've been a fan of Pizzeria Delfina for quite some time. I am now even a bigger fan since they opened a restaurant here on the Peninsula. The Burlingame location is a great addition to this small chain of pizza baking masters. I like the fact they are on the El Camino side which is easier to park in and around than California Avenue. The pizza. 5 star perfection. Thin crust Italian style which is exactly what we love. My wife recently stopped in and shared the Margherita and were loving it right down to the last crumb. The wine list appears to favor the Italians, which is great but if you are not sure or are intimated there are plenty of California selections as well.

After a 6 month wait, was it worth it? Sad to say, nope. Got there early, around 5, so no wait. Very kid friendly. Service was fine. Seated upstairs and had a good view of the cooking area below. Beets and cheese. Looked ok. Didn't try. Arcini balls. Too salty. Spicy califlower. Too bland and I normally don't mind bland. Broccoli rabe pizza. Pretty good. Margherita pizza. Didn't try, looked good. Sausage pizza. Not bad but not great. Crust was thin such that when I picked up a alive all the sausage fell off. There were the standard burnt areas that I found I'm not a big fan of. Sausage was also super salty. And I sometimes go out for 3 meat pizzas 3 days in a row so I typically am not too bothered by salt. Had the regular ice cream dessert and the brioche. Don't recommend the brioche. Too dry. They didn't offer the cucumber mint lemonade either. Regular lemonade was a bit sour. After all the anticipation since the first visit had over an hour wait and we didn't stay, I was definitely disappointed. Don't really plan on returning unless someone else wants to go.

Live review: called ahead for seating and were confirmed. Arrived and there was no record of us on the waiting list. Had our name added and were skipped over for two other parties that arrived after us. Hope their inattention to detail and lack of attrition does not carry over to their food (still waiting for a table). Will update rating if the night gets any better. Update: after finally being seated, the food was to our liking. despite being focused on pizza, we found the pesto orecchiette to be our favorite dish of the night. service was excellent from that point on, though we were semi-forced to listen in on the conversation of a couple next to us, due to the proximity of our tables.

I have yet to try the Pizzeria Delfina in the Mission, but I have ate next door at the regular restaurant. In comparison, this new location on Bgame Ave is much bigger with plentiful seating in the dining area, bar and the back patio. The scene here is much more family/group friendly. I came in on a Friday night around 8, so of course I was already expecting a wait. As one of the workers came out to take our names down on the chalkboard waiting list, he offered to be seated right away if my bf and I were willing to sit at the bar. Why not, beats waiting 20+ mins when we were already hungry, plus most times I don't mind sitting at the bar for a more laidback meal. It was also cool and entertaining to watch all the chefs making the pizzas and other meals right in front of us. Within few mins of scanning the menu, all these throwback songs were playing back to back on their pretty loud system. I heard Pharrell-Frontin, P. Diddy-I Needa Girl pt. 1 and Loon-I Don't Wanna Know. I know most people are thinking, "wth, who cares that doesn't matter" but to a music feen like myself, music can play a part into the overall ambiance and dining experience. Personally, when good music is playing while I eat, my food tastes even better. So kudos to whoever had the nice late 90's/early 2000s hip hop/R&B playlist going on that night! It did get a little awks when Juvenile-Back That A** Up Played for the families around...lol! But didn't stop me dancing with my pizza slice in my seat! Anyway, back to the food...we started with the meatballs in sugo italian pasta sauce. They came out fairly quick and the serving had 3 big sized meatballs which was a perfect starter for the both of us. For our main, we went with the classic margherita pizza which you can never really go wrong with. The crust was thin, tasty fresh tomato sauce and creamy melted mozzarella, but it could have used a little more basil. The food we ordered plus 2 rounds of beer was the perfect amount to fill us up. Some of the other dishes that people ordered looked really yummy, so I'd come back maybe on a less busy night though. The service was so-so, all the waiters were zooming past us picking up orders to deliver to the table but our server did come by a few times to check on us. What I really didn't appreciate and threw me off was when some server that we did not see or talk to the WHOLE time we were there randomly decided to drop by us to ask us if we'd want him to box up the rest of our pizza to go. I was like, whoa hold up guy! First of all, who are you. Second of all, do you not see fresh new slices on our plates AND our filled glasses of beer!? Ew, I thought that was really rude as if he was rushing us, but by then the wait died down. So that was really unnecessary and annoyed me a lot. But whatever, I continued to enjoy the rest of my meal with 50 Cent-21 Questions and Nelly-My Boo playing.

New and more spacious location! Honestly, I have been to PD in SF and still am not totally impressed. The margherita is the best thing on their menu. While not blow my socks off, this place is not bad and a good spot for brunch. Sadly I don't think I would be a regular here. Blue Line is my pizza spot on Burlingame Ave.

One of my favorite pizza places in the city! The 18th st location is pretty small, but the food makes up for its lack of size. This Burlingame ave location not only has the great food, but the location is great and the restaurant itself is big and beautiful. A plus already is the parking availability. Hands down way better than the city. The service is great, very attentive and polite servers. Very knowledgeable about their menu, so that's great. That shows me they know their job and have been trained to know their menu. Suggestions from the server is extremely helpful when you are undecided on the menu. My server suggested the butternut squash soup. And I'm glad he did! That soup was velvety smooth and was sweet n creamy. Delicious! There is way more seating than SF. Another plus! With an outdoor patio, front of house sidewalk seating, and a Loft style upper seating area, it looks like they can seat 100 plus easily. The pizzas are the same as its other location. Fantastic! Im glad they opened this location.

Service was really slow. We weren't greeted for ten minutes once we were sat. . Didn't ask how our First courses were. Then we got our pizza and she asked us how our pizza was when we clearly didn't take a bite. As a chef that's one of my pet peeves. Pizza was soggy. Mushrooms were just roasted with no salt or seasoning. She cleared my plate first and ask if we wanted dessert when my girl was still eating. RUDE. Hopefully the one in SF has better service and quality food. As for Burlingame, huge disappointment.

Went to dinner with my sister and her friend here last night. Great service. We sat outside so we could people watch and enjoy delicious food and the weather was also great! I got the margherita pizza with sausage on top. and we started off with the meatballs which were delicious like everyone said. The pizza crust was soft and chewy and cooked well. it wasn't too crispy or undercooked which is usually a problem i have with pizzas. We each ordered our own pizzas and it's definitely a lot of food so splitting next time would be a better deal but leftover pizza is amazeballs so it all works out in the end! Great meal.

We ordered the following: Margherita: We really enjoyed the crust and cheesiness of this pizza. Prosciutto Pie: Didn't care for this pizza very much, I think I would have liked if the prosciutto was cut into smaller pieces. Salciccia: This one was our favorite! The sausage, bell peppers and onions went so well together. We enjoyed the little breadsticks that are on the table. The kids had fun playing sword fighting with them... Service was very good and our waitress was very friendly. I liked the outdoor seating and would totally enjoy eating outside when the weather gets warmer.

Was excited to find a Pizzeria Delfina closer to home. Was surprised we could just walk in for lunch... until I realized that this location is 10 times as big as the tiny location in Mission. We ate on the back patio that had a great vibe with a couple of big trees, overhead lights and background piped music. Definitely not the cramped scene that Mission is known for. This place is big. It is Burlingame. Had the meatballs for an appetizer (A) along with a glass of wine. I ordered the Margherita (love the simplicity of it) but topped on some leftover meatballs and sauce which made an entirely different and spectacular pie. The pizza is an A- (didn't have enough fresh cut basil) but putting a little bit of meatball made it an A. I guess you can credit myself, not the restaurant, for that, though. I will definitely return here when I want a great pie with a great crust. Will mention that they should add some more basil, though, and I'll probably put some meatball on it. The dough is magnificent and perfectly cooked. Good food, great location, staff is welcoming and the ambiance it chill.

Ye simply oughtta swing by this place -- forget about the road construction in front of it on Burlingame Avenue. Having just opened, it's totally worth it once you get in, though you might have to wait a little while -- you'll be among many others doing the same thing, who've all signed their name and party quantity in chalk on the wall outside to be called in. Once you get in, you can order from quite a selection of appetizers, salads, pizza and pasta, among other things. Going here with my father, I ordered the Duck Conserva with caper berries (those savory capers made all the difference!), and we shared a Prosciutto Pie pizza with arugula. Our pizza took slightly longer to arrive (could've just been very busy last night) but it hit the nail on the head. Delicious! The town is really coming along with improving the look of Burlingame Avenue. In due time, I hope this branch of Delfina (which began in SF) will not be hidden much longer by the construction, though word seems to have spread about it already. Great for local suburban business!

Yay! It's finally open! I've been stalking this outpost of Pizzeria Delfina since I heard it was coming to Burlingame, and was glad to see that it's finally here. I'll agree that this location is up to par with the SF ones (well, the one I've visited in SF, anyway). Great food, friendly waitstaff, fairly efficient turnaround time, and a very stylish but still, somehow, warm vibe. Came in with a friend. I had the spaghetti -- which was fresh, warm, flavorful, and very much worth it -- and she had the Salsiccia pizza (the sausage is a tad on the spicy side and OH SO GOOD). They are working really hard to make this a lovely neighborhood spot, and so far, so good. It's clear they're doing the best they can to manage the crowds: but yes, it's busy, so get there as early as you can. Plus, they have a wine on the list with my name LITERALLY on it. How could I NOT love them? ;) Why I don't give them five stars: * I wish the menu was a *little* bit more varied in terms of the options available to you (that's not to say you won't find something you enjoy). * The sodas and Devil's Canyon root beer (woot!) are overpriced, IMO. You're almost better off just ordering a beer or glass of wine (if that's OK for you). Overall, though, this is totally a spot I'll recommend to friends, and one I hope to return to soon! Looking forward to lunch service!

LOVE THIS PLACE! Delfina is the perfect addition to this already beautiful street. I love how they open all the windows and the ceilings are super high. AND! They have an open kitchen. We started off with the free breadsticks and water. I tried the strawberry soda which was sour... But I love sour so it worked out. We then ordered the margherita pizza. It was delish! I love thin pizzas because you don't get overly full and you have room to order another dish. The sauce is tangy and tasty wish the fresh mozzarella which makes a perfect combo. We also tried the buttered corn which was the highlight of the meal - IT. WAS. TO. DIE. FOR! Literally the best corn I've had in my life and when I had asked about it, they mentioned they get the corn fresh from the farmers market. It was so crunchy and juicy! I could have ordered 5 plates of that and I would have been satisfied. I love how the menu changes everyday and partly hand written. Lastly, we tried the gelato in the brioche bun. I never thought eating a mini ice cream BURGER would be so good but the combination is amazing! We had hazelnut (which was my fave because it had little chocolate chips in it) and we paired it with the vanilla bean which is always a go to flavor. As for the customer service, it was awesome! Chelsy or chelsie was more than helpful. We came in at the last ten minutes and I felt bad being the last ones to order but she told me not to even worry about it. Super friendly and helped us decide our meal choices! the manager, Samantha, also checked up on us and she genuinely cared about our experience. Love the food! Love the atmosphere! Love the staff!

Great new Location in downtown Burlingame. They even have a drop cam outside so you can see how long the wait is ( dropcam.com/p/PizzeriaBu… ). The menu is varied, with a lot more than just pizza on it. My party had a few different things. The meatballs (NEAPOLITAN MEATBALLS IN SUGO / 14.75). These come with a crostini. Emphasis on crust. These little buggers are hard as a rock. The meat balls were "ok", not much flavor. I've had much better. The Burrata cheese (BELFIORE BURRATA / 11.75). These come with... guess? The rock hard crostini. Just when you thought your teeth were safe, they return with a vengeance. The beer list is excellent with some good beers, although only 2 are Italian (Peroni and Panil) and neither are from Naples. They even make a shandy out of Peroni so points for interest there. The wine list underwhelms with ho-hum varietals from Italy and a couple unfortunate California wines for good measure. It's likely you'll find something passable if you look hard enough. The service was excellent. At least the server agreed with crostini assessment. Overall I expected more from the food. I'll go back and try the pizza when I have the urge, but not before. I'll update the review if it's enough to make up for the crostini.

I'm so happy they have a Delfina in the Peninsula. I've been a regular at the Pizzeria Delfina location in the Mission for years before moving to SoCal. Luckily for us, we didn't have to wait for a table on Black Friday! For starters, we ordered the saffron arancinis and their brussels sprouts special. We noshed on a panna pie with fennel sausage and also tried their orichiette pasta with broccolini pesto with pine nuts. So delicious! I loved how spacious this location is and they have a great patio! I'm pretty sure I'll be back again since I frequent DT Burlingame whenever I'm in town!

I have been here 1/2 dozen times and the service is always 5 stars. The food is 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Breadsticks- awesome and complimentary at the table. they are the tall thin italian breadsticks, Drinks- plentyful. they serve ice tea in a carafe which is pretty cool so you can give yourself a refill whenever you need it. Appetizers- the veggie appetizers never disappoint. They found a way to make brussel spouts taste amazing Pizza- decent. there is a Sicilian pizza that is pretty great, but the margarita or cheese and tomato is mediocre. not bad, just pretty plain tasting. Pasta's- ok to very good Salads- I do recommend all of them, warming, the one with salami is pretty salty. overall, it is a solid 4 star establishment. & if anything, it definitely leans closer to 5 than 3 stars. Again- service here is always 5 stars. friendly, attentive, fast staff.

A few of us went here on a whim the other night. I've heard good things about this place so we checked it out. We showed up right around 5pm on a Saturday night. There was already a line at the front door spilling on out to the sidewalk. The gal at the front told me to write my name on their wall with the number of people in my party. Ok..fine, that's how they keep track of who's next in line. Weird but i guess it works out. Our wait was about 10 min. Not so bad. They sat us in their upstairs dining area. The first thing I notice was how hot it was up there. Maybe from the pizza ovens? Not sure. Then it immediately became apparent that the noise level was VERY loud. Lots of screaming kids, dragging chairs around the tables and the area. The floors are bare so when a chair is dragged it's really loud. Parents didn't seem to care. They were too busy chatting and drinking their wine lol oh well. Now onto the food. Over all I think the food was decent. Nothing I would go back for though. We had the following... Homemade lemonade (not impressed) Marinated beets with goat cheese and farro (very good) Meatballs (good but salty) Sausage pizza (good) Pizza with prosciutto (I didn't try this) My friends had the sundae and they seemed to like it. Looked very small for the cost $7+ Overall 2.5 - 3 stars. This place is loud, a little overpriced & the food is over salted. The service was just fine!

I love love love this place. Whenever I'm in the area I think of Pizza Delfina! I've had the salads on special which were all good and had the Salsiccia and prosciutto pizza... Both are NOT a disappointment. I love coming to this place. I leave a happy customer every time.

My boyfriend and I stopped here for lunch on a Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised with how delicious this pizza is! We split the margarita pizza and had mango gelato, both very good. We sat out front with our pup and had a very great afternoon. We will be back soon!

We were really impressed by this pizzeria. The atmosphere was nice and airy and the service was fast and so friendly (we had two hungry children with and with a fifteen minute wait, the host brought breadsticks out and then the waitress managed to get the food for the children out the soonest once we were seated). The pizzas were good, we're a bit spoiled by some of the Zagat rated restaurants we've been to in the Northwest (ie. Ken's Artisan Pizza and Apizza Scholls) and although this wasn't as good as those spots, the toppings were so delicious with their clam pizza (I appreciated the fact that they were on the pizza out of their shells), the broccoli rabe, and sausage pizza especially. A memorable spot which is great for families with young children in tow.

I've been wanting to try Delfina in SF, but have not had a chance to. With a new location in Burlingame, it was conveniently close to the airport so I took my sister here for an early dinner after picking her up. Since we got here at 6, I thought there may have been some happy hour specials. To my surprise, there are no cocktails at all, just beer and wine. We tried the prosciutto ($17) and margherita pizzas ($14). Both were good, a little burnt around the crust, and not the most amazing pizzas I've had. To be honest, I was a little bit underwhelmed given all the hype around this place but it's nothing you can't get at almost any other Italian pizzeria. We finished our meals off with 3 little scoops of house-made gelato ($5), and this was probably my favorite part of the meal. We ordered the mint chocolate chip and the mint flavor was super fresh and tasted just like mint leaves. The chocolate chips were plentiful throughout the gelato and were rich dark chocolate, not milk. Seems like there's still quite a wait around prime dinner hours even on weekdays, so try to get here at 6:00pm or earlier.

Ok. Location and space is better than the ones in SF. BUT, it takes them FOREVER to get your food. Want to say it took us close to an hour get our pasta. They can pace themselves better with the pizzas but other dishes like their chicken will take FOREVER. So when I observed the kitchen, it's about the same size and staffed similarly to the Fillmore location in SF. But the seating capacity is almost double the size. That totally is culprit for the delay! You can't possibly seat all these people and expect to pump out the food with such a small kitchen. They gotta expand their kitchen. Regarding the food: one word. SALTY. Had the the prosciutto pie. The arugula on the pie was overly salted. I've never drank so much water at a restaurant before. Their chicken also was super salty and overly peppered. I did my same usual order which I used to get in the city and there was a huge contrast to the quality. I wish it'll get better. I wonder that it might be worth it to just drive 20 min more and just eat in the city and pay for the consistent quality.

I am glad to see Delfina opening up closer to where I live. I heard all the rave about the one in SF, so as soon as I saw them in Burlingame, I had to try it. Their meatballs are amazing. We also ordered a red pie(funnel sausage) and a white pie (brocooli rabe with cauliflower). The pizzas were amazing. Will definitely come back for more...

Crust: ok, could be better. Sauce: meh. Mediocre at best. The fennel sausage makes it 3 stars instead of 2.

I love Delfina for a date night. It is a little pricey for "pizza" but it is not your take out pizza and should cost more. I love the real Italian style crust and the fresh mozzarella appetizer is so yummy. My favorite pizza is the Panna with Parmesan cheese and cream. I have been here many times with my Husband and have even had a small party of 8 for a going away for a friend. Each time I go I am happy, well fed and greeted with a smile.

When I lived in San Francisco, Delfina pizza was my favorite place but since I have moved in Burlingame, I fall in love with Delfina Burlingame ! The food is still the same but the staff and the place are nicer ! There is a outdoor spot and a mezzanine :) There is no long line ... just the perfect place ! They deserve so much then 3 stars ;)

Pricey pizzas and they don't have "gluten free" pizzas or pastas (except Penne pasta). They should have more selection for the gluten free people out there! The waiter wasn't apologetic about it either.

Exactly the type of pizza you get when you don't want to feel sickly full. had the margherita and a daily special pizza. The margherita is perfectly balanced between cheese and sauce, and was very savory .Can't remember what the speciality pizza was, but it had a delicious cream based sauce which was slightly sweet. Both were delicious, and the atmosphere is very inviting. Service was great as one pizza didn't come with an olive oil drizzle, and the waitress quickly caught it and fixed it before she put the pizza out. Definitely would go back!

Simply great pizza in a comfortable setting. This is what real pizza is- a beautiful toothsome chewy crust with a perfectly balanced topping, showing restraint. Simplicity is what we don't get in this country, but Delfina gets it. Just go and eat it, don't overthink it.

The food and service was great but the acoustics are HORRIBLE. I have a headache and my ears are still ringing from last night! I hosted a large party in the upstairs and the noise was deafening - to the point that I considered making a last minute change of venue. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place for large parties in the upstairs because of the noise level, but I might try for a smaller dinner downstairs.

Another place that didn't meet the hype for me. Maybe the one in the Mission is better, but this did not impress whatsoever. I really milked my experience here by trying almost all the popular pizzas: Mrgherita, Salsiccia, and prosciutoo pie. Nothing special. If anything, one of the pizzas came out with the crusts BLACK. Dare I say CANCER??!!! Our waitress was super cool and kept on refilling our breadsticks while we waited for our pizzas. We ordered two for here but they didn't come out at the same time. It was awkward waiting for the other.... The most delicious was one thing I would have never ordered without the waitress's recommendation: Mozzarella in Oorozza. Basically buttery fried bread, butter, and cheese! A heart attack waiting to happen, but one must indulge sometimes. I lucked out when I came cause it was a rainy Sunday and got a table right away. Would I come back and wait? Nope!

If you think the line to get in Delfina in SF is bad, you should see the one in Burlingame! Absolutely ridiculous. It's a zombie town, with parents dragging their crying kids around the storefront for hours, peeking in the windows, dogs tied to lamp posts and sadly waiting for their owners to finish. Seriously, have these people never tried pizza before? Or heard of to-go orders? I have. Which is why I didn't wait in some crazy ass line to get a fresh, out of the oven Delfina pizza. On a Saturday, nonetheless. Check out the menu online, call ahead and plan on about a 20-25 minute wait. Genius, I tell you! The actual pizza tastes just like their OG location in the city. And you don't have to mess with all of the other nonsense that comes with a trip up to San Francisco. Although I will note that parking in Burlingame is equally as frustrating! But that's another story. Until the novelty of Delfina in B-game wears off, you're better off getting that pie to go!

The difference between this and the SF locations is 95% of the tables at this one have kids. They might as well have a playground.

Great pizza. This is one of the few pizza places in the area worth going to. It's a very modern, young atmosphere. The beverages - at least the ones that we got - are made in-house. The pizza crust is thin. The ingredients are fresh. The service is good. We'll definitely be back

4 stars off: What kind of pizza restaurant does not do take out? This place! All I wanted to do was simply buy an over-priced pizza and take it home for dinner, but the hostess told me Pizzeria Delfina only does take-out 11:30AM - 3PM. I am completely confused. Why would this place force a customer to eat there? By ordering a take-out, I am giving them business without taking up one of their seats, allowing more customers to dine there. I have never been refused service before...and I swear I wasn't rude/naked/drunk/stoned/any other reason to refuse service to a customer! So I walked down the street to Blue Line Pizza and ordered an over-priced pizza there for takeout instead.

Belfiore Burrata with arugula: God, yes! Panna Pizza: good but can't compare to the Margherita. Outdoor seating: either on the sidewalk in front or a small patio in back. There's a little space for kids to play.

Did you want me not to give you my $? I've had such a lovely time dining but ordering a PICKUP was terrible. She told me THREE times it would take an hour for 1 pizza. Got it.

Pizzeria Delfina is reasonably reviewed here on Yelp at 3.5 stars. I initially thought the rating here on Yelp was inaccurate just based on the hype, but I ultimately do agree. Because of the long lines on a Saturday night, I ordered takeout which S helped to pick up (thanks!). We got the burrata, meatballs, and two pizzas (prosciutto and 4 formaggi with added mushrooms). The burrata was simply ok. I like the combo of the burrata and the arugula, but the crostini was too soaked in olive oil for my taste. Instead of being crisp, it was more chewy than anything else. I almost wished there was some lemon on top. The meatballs were great. A previous reviewer said - you come for the pizza and stay for the meatballs. I would totally have to agree because the meatballs were the highlight of the meal! Again, crostini were really too oily. Lastly, the pizzas. The 4 formaggi with the added mushrooms was my preferred over the prosciutto pie. The prosciutto was overpoweringly salty - even with the arugula to go on top. It again needed some acidity to balance it. I wonder if my gripes over the food would disappear with an in-dining experience. But then again, I don't think I would necessarily want to wait for over an hour just for the pizza.

  • Martin C.

not quite like their other 2 locations in the City...service is 4 stars food is 3 1/2 to 4 BUT..their toasted bread that goes with the burrata is soooooo tough only Jaws or Dracula could bite into them...we asked the waiter if they could replace it and the "kitchen " said all their breads are "like that" ...whatever that means ???!!!

Yummy! Chilled early girl tomato with belfiore burrata was the bomb! So Fresh! Fresh stretched mozzarella with arugula great! Pizza: had the Margherita and the Salsiccia Both great! Neapolitan Mestballs in Sugo very Yummy. Gelato: Buffalo Milk a Extra Olive Oil, Walnut Nocino mixed is a great combo. Also had the Meyer Lemon-Berry Swirl great too.

Great crispy thin-crust pizzas and modern decor in Burlingame. We liked the Sausage and Fennel pizza the most, followed by the prosciutto pizza and then the Napoletana (with anchovy). The mussels in butter sauce were really fresh and tasty. We wish it came with more toast but wait staff brought us more bread when we asked. The ginger lime non-alcoholic drink was excellent. Standard decent beer selection (I had the Lagunitas Lil' Sumpin'). Don't miss the foosball table. It needed a little maintenance to get it up to our level of play. ;) Can't wait to go back and try the egg pizzas.

Been dying to try Delfina for the longest time and when I heard about a year or so ago that they were opening one in Burlingame, I was super stoked! Finally was able to stop by last night because I've been sick and been craving solid foods. There's construction along the street, so you can't find street parking in front but there are several public parking lots where you'll be easily able to find parking. I also noted a sign that said there was parking in the rear. To sign-up on the waiting list, you write your name on the corner wall with chalk that is on the to-go window on the other side of the doors. They do not take reservations and all parties must be present to be seated. When we were seated, they have very thin bread-sticks that almost look like incense sitting at the table that you can snack on while you go through the menu. One pizza is about 12" and is cut into 6 slices. If you have a huge appetite, one pizza for two might not be enough (unless you order appetizers). Our order: Clam Pie: ($17) Cherrystones, tomato, oregano, pecorino, hot peppers. Added Housemade fennel sausage (+$4) Funghi: ($18) Hen of the Woods Mushrooms, panna, fontina, nepitella Affogato: ($5) w/ Mint Stracciatella Gelato House-made Blood Orange Soda ($6) Captain Eli's Root Beer ($6) The pizzas are thin crust and has a nice wood-brick oven taste. Found amusing that there were several black charred bubbles on the crust. The Clam Pie came with a slightly spicy red sauce, which I was surprised since most places uses a white sauce when using clams in their pizzas. I really enjoyed the sauce and with the added sausage balanced the saltiness of the clams. The Funghi came with a buttery sauce. It reminded me of the sauce you would get when you ate escargot at a French restaurant. There were nice large chunks of the Hen of the Woods Mushrooms and the nepitella (a type of minty herb) didn't over-power the mushrooms at all. Couldn't say which I liked more since they were both good. The Blood Orange Soda was refreshing and not overly tart or sweet. The Captain Eli's Root Beer came in a beer mug with no ice, but it came from tap so it was ok. No free refills on drinks. For dessert, the affogato had a strong bitter espresso. I loved the creamy house-made mint stracciatella gelato. It had nice big chunks of chocolate shavings as well. I guess the kitchen forgot they gave us our order because they brought another affogato out to us. They were so nice as to give it us for no additional charge anyways. The gentleman was very hospital and even asked if we enjoyed our meal before he left. Service was good. Our waiter wasn't hovering, but was still available to flag down (even on a busy night). The employees were all very friendly. Definitely must check this place out!

Great food, but awful service. A restaurant should not rely only on their food. Service is what keeps customers coming back. As much as I liked their food, their lack of service skills will definitely keep me away from this location. My water was never refilled, they got my daughter's order wrong and everything took an exceptionally long time. To the point that not even the kids wanted to wait for dessert. Do yourself a favor and order to go instead

WORST SERVICE EVER! I usually never complain about restaurants but the fact that I had to make a Yelp account just to express my frustration with this restaurant just goes to prove how horrible Burlingame's Pizza Delfina is. Went inside for lunch, the host was nice and welcoming but the server was another story. Does management train the servers to be stuck up and inconsiderate?? My server didn't say a word to me, didn't ask if I would like anything else to order.. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Coming from another server like myself, I'm usually forgiving and understanding if the restaurant is busy and hectic, but there was only three tables present and two servers. The pizza was a tad burnt on the edges and my margarita pizza only had two scrawny pieces of basil on it. I also ordered the zucchini, which was the one highlight of my meal. I'm not sure why but SF's location makes the pizzas way, way better. Suffice to say, I'm NEVER coming here again. I'll probably just stick to the one in the city. And to my server, the guy with the beard and glasses, I suggest you find another line of work. I would've tipped you nothing for the lack of service you provided, but the kindness in me gave you 15%.. You're welcome.

Great pizza. Crust was cooked to perfection, nice and crispy, thin. The sauce was delicious, tangy with a slight spice to it. I also was a big fan of the pepperoni's, they had a unique flavor to them which was quite good. I wish this place delivered.

Love the pizza, ordered take out and the person did not even acknowledge me, it was kinda awkward. Finally a young lady came and ask how can she help, very nice. On the other hand the guy, looked like he just woke up and was wearing an Oakland Hustling shirt, which I don't think it's appropriate bc my little man was asking what his shirt meant. He was the first person I saw and it was not a quick pleasant experiment.

Pretty tasty and a higher price point. I love the crust here, it's got a great texture. We get delivery so I can't comment on the in restaurant experience but we do have a problem quite a bit with some pretty charred pizza edges, like it's not rotated evenly. Good thing we like crispy bits.

They're doing a small soft opening now and will start dinner service starting 12/26/2013. Seating only 1/3 of the restaurant has its drawbacks and advantages. The wait unfortunately was long even though we showed up late. We finally got seated after about 40min but it was worth it. Got the tripe appetizer, prosciutto/arugula pizza, and clam pies. All were fantastic. I noticed few of the folks from the other Delfina/Locanda locales so they're bringing some veterans of the other spaces to get this up and running. Definitely a great debut and Im looking forward to getting more to eat on their bigger menu down the line. 4.3 stars

Never heard of Delfina until sweety said something about it. Delfina's hq is located somewhere in the Mission district in SF, not really my area to visit because of all them hipsters. No Bueno in going to the Mission for me Bongo. Parking in Burlingame sucks too. There was also street construction going on around here too. I felt bad for sweety since she was miserably sick, so I dragged her out to eat here for dinner. When food is calling, you go to it! Sick? Who cares! We eating! There was a huge waiting list when we got there, but instead of using paper and a pen, Delfina utilizes the side of their building and a piece of chalk. Very helpful and unique! Sort of like graffiti your name on their wall and wait to be called. Once we were seated, there were these thin looking sticks at our table in which I thought were incense. They turned out to be bread sticks and when I looked around, some people were munching on them. Edible incense sticks! FOOD: --Clam Pie w/ an extra topping of sausage --Funghi Pie (mushroom pizza) --Root beer --House brewed Blood Orange soda --Affogato w/ Mint Stracciatella Gelato. If you are a big eater, consider ordering 2 pizzas for yourself because I ended up eating 1 and a half pizza pies + dessert. SERVICE: Though it was crazy busy during the dinner rush, our server was always on point with check up on us. Refilled our water glasses and made sure we were comfortable in our romantic corner. Even for a crazy pizza dinner joint, we were given a nice cozy corner to cupcake in. Staff here were polite, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. I liked how confident our waiter was. OVERALL: This place is definitely pop'n. Come here to drop your cash like cuz Delfina is hot. A tad pricy, but the atmosphere is nice. Delfina also does not do take out. -1 star for that. Save money on paper boxes right?

Good pizzas and fresh homemade pastas. 3.5 stars Pizza Delfina just opened not too long ago in dt Burlingame and it seemed like they were still trying to manage the crowd. Around 8:00pm, the wait was 45 minutes long, but we decided to hang at our hotel until 9:00pm and walked into PD with no wait. Although, the pizza was good, I didn't particularly think it was outstanding. The crust was good, good amount of fresh mozzarella. However, taste wise, the tomatoes were too acidic and that acidity blended itself into the pizza and pasta sauce. Not horrible, just not my taste. Overall, great service, cool vibe, great date place. Recommended, but easy on the tomatoes!

'Meh... They're not as good as they think they are. If you're trying to satisfy a pizza fix- save yourself a lot of time and money and call dominos (or toto's!). Paid 70 bucks for 2 mediocre salads, a mediocre pizza and two poor drinks. The service was slow, we saw our server 3 total times and waited almost an hour for that mediocre pizza. I doubt ill go back, which is sad because I live less than a mile away. Seriously. Dominos hand tossed pan pizza is better than here.

Just went to the new Burlingame location today for lunch. The food tastes just like the food at the city locations. I love the tri-colore salad-it's my favorite. The music is good, the vibe is hip, but unlike the city locations, this place is spacious! We had three adults and three kids and they had no problem finding us a spot big enough to accommodate. And our server was a friendly dad of a 22 month old so he was totally prepared for our group! I wish this had been here when I actually lived on the west coast...but here's one more reason to move back. Oh and the cucumber, mint, limeade was amazing!

Always consistent on their food. Super tasty, high quality. Service - usually great. Last time was off, but they made up for it by not charging us for a couple items. A great energy about this place.

My Mother and I were first time diners here last night. Pro's! The food and beer was amazing start to finish. We tried a few of the beers on tap and they did not disappoint. The selection list is pretty good and of high quality. We also tried the tripe on Antipasti section of the menu and sausage pizza which were both wonderfully yummy! We had a sweet ending with the gelato - which is made onsite and it did not disappoint. Con's The atmosphere was a little loud and rowdy for my liking but it was to be expected upon entering. One thing I am totally not a fan of is the fact they do not do reservations and it is a first come first serve type of restaurant. You have to write your name on the chalk board and wait for them to seat you - so you don't really have an approximate ball park range of how long it will take to get seated. Over all - I would definitely come back and do take out night here.

Oh boy did i ever "LOVE" this place. I mean, whats not to enjoy when an extra topping costs 4$, every menu item is described with pretentious mystery ingredients, and the two tables next to you are practically in your lap. What's gonna keep me coming back though is the service - there's nothing that says quality quite like your waitress never checking up on you because she is busy drinking a glass of pinot grigio behind the register with her beer-wielding coworker and cell-phone-chatting colleague. I always make sure to come back to places that have 12 waitstaff standing around doing nothing while I can't seem to get a refill of water. And thank goodness i couldn't get my check for 20 minutes because I was enjoying myself SO much trying to flag down one of the gossip girls. I think not.

Delfina , you disappointed me ! I have been many times also in the city and it was never as bad as last night. For some reason (probably the holiday) it was very crowded for a Monday.Although we got a table fairly quickly things deteriorated from there. After waiting 10 minutes still nobody had shown up at our table to give us water or ask for the drink order. People next to us had their water right away - they were seated at the same time. Finally I had to wave one of the girls over., I had no idea who our waitress was. Then things progressed and we finally ordered our food. 1st dish we ordered were Brussels Sprouts. We said we wanted a few more minutes after that to order more dishes. We then ordered Mussels ,Meatballs and Pasta. The dishes came but no Brussels Sprouts. We mentioned it to the girl. In the end they still hadn't shown up and I finally waved a guy who seemed to be managing better than the girls. He apologized and the Sprouts came 5 minutes later.( They should have been comped because they forgot about them. The Mussels were excellent but they came with totally blackened-burned toast which we let go back. Toast came again and was only slightly lighter - so not edible. But at this point I gave up. Service seemed to be very disjointed and disorganized, really not like the usual Delfina. Pasta wasn't very tasty at all and I did not try the meatballs. Brussels Sprouts were excellent and well prepared and wine was decent. MANAGEMENT take a look at your service and kitchen supervision please.

Excellent!! Waited a few weeks after opening to visit. I've been to the SF many times so knew we'd be in for a treat and this new Burlingame location did not disappoint. Walked in at 5:30pm on Thursday and no wait. Seated upstairs overlooking the restaurant and street. By the time we left an hour later there were at least 12 people waiting. Tricolore salad - excellent Panna pizza - ridiculously good Spaghetti with broccoli rabe pesto and sausage - omg yum (and btw we tried it with gluten free spaghetti which the server said they import from Italy and you couldn't tell the difference!) Enjoyed everything with a glass of their Delfina red wine. Can't wait to return!! Thank you for opening in Burlingame so I can walk there.

A new favorite in Burlingame - even though I cant eat pasta, i love love their spicy cauliflower (with garlic, capers, breadcrumbs, and Calabrian chilis). Wine list is also excellent - especially Red wine. My husband loves the Winter Citrus Salad made with fennel & extra virgin olive oil. The ambiance is also a cool hip spot for dates, couples, family, and groups. Everyone here IS super friendly! So happy to be here!

One of the best Italian spots on the Peninsula (I'm a picky foodie), and the service has noticeably improved since its opening. The waits are usually short if you arrive before or after the busy 7-8 rush. Inside is way too loud (like everywhere else, some soft acoustic panels would help). But the outside patio is cute and intimate, and it's also a great place for kids. All in all, this is a great addition to Burlingame and raises the entire area's profile.

The pizza here is actually more like 4 stars and the pizza prices are reasonable for the area. My biggest gripe is with what I consider to be price gouging for everything else. Four dollars for a small bottle of Coke, six dollars for a root beer, seven dollars for a domestic beer, no free refills, and I won't mention their wine prices. When I go to a pizza place for the first time I like to order the Margarita pizza. But I like a little sausage on it, so I always ask for sausage. The pizza was reasonably priced, as I mentioned before, but the sausage was an extra 4 dollars. Now as we all know, the Margarita is 12" and lightly topped so there isn't much sausage on it, so why four dollars? I mean, this is definitely not a ritzy establishment. In fact, the place was crowded, service slow, and it was quite noisy. Finally, I should mention, if there's one thing I hate, that's being ignored when I'm waiting to be served. I mean I expect to be treated like spoiled meat at the DMV, but after waiting at their front door for five minutes for someone to either seat me or put my name on a waiting list, I was repeatedly ignored by three different members of their staff. I finally got someone's attention and asked them what gives? I was told that I am required to get a piece of chalk from a small cup on the counter, and write my name on a wall myself, like I was supposed to know this. OK, I've learned something new today. But alas, I'll never be able to practice my new found knowledge because mostly due to their pricey menu I don't intend on returning to their establishment.

Our first time to try Delfinas. We've heard lots of good things. Went with our friends, so we tried a few dishes. We started with the chilled tripe and Californese salad. First time eating tripe. I didn't know what to expect. Sprinkled on salt and chile oil. It was tasty. The salad was delicious. Fresh romaine with avocado pistachio and Ranch dressing. For our entree we shared 2 pizzas a clam pie and salsiccia. I enjoyed both but enjoyed the salsiccia more. Love the thin crust style tasty sausage with plenty of mozzarella. To finish our delicious meal we tried their house made coppa gelato tcho chocolate and wild cherry flavor. Yum! Great experience good service and delicious food.

Cool restaurant and great location but the food is not that great. I ordered a to-go order of the brocolli raab pizza with proscuitto added and the insalati salad. First off, while we were quoted 20 minutes but it definately took longer. Second, the portions were small...very small. The salad was not cheap and it was small, over-dressed and over-salted. The pizza was bland and dry. Barely any cheese and no sauce. For the price, I simply thought we would get more or at the very least, I thought that the flavor would be top-notch. Sadly that was not the case.

Went there for the white truffle farm house dinner. Sat upstairs in the mezzanine level and just had a wonderful meal and time. The owners went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect, to show us photos of their trip to Italy, truffle hunting and educate us as well as serve a delicious meal. Truffles were abundantly served. Tartare canapés, raw salad of artichokes/fennel/cardoons, risotto with fondue, venison with squash all served with table-side shaved white truffle which filled the room with their heady aroma and then finished with a mascarpone/granita/gelato dessert. Piedmonte-inspired wines served to match. I was iffy on the family style seating thinking I would be cramped - nothing of the sort. That is a great space and plenty of room was provided. The service outstanding, friendly and could not have been better. The only complaint would be - I wish they did more of these type of events and had/allowed people bring in their own wines to share as well. I'm not big on group dinners but wow Delfina does them right. Having this in Burlingame as opposed to having to go into the City was another HUGE plus. Left work a bit early to make it and I would do it again the next time they have one in a minute. Can we do a taste of Parma or Prosciutto de Parma guys?

Unlike other Yelpers I had a great experience with the service on a busy Wed night. The surfer dude taking names on the chalk board got us in within the time promised (20 min), our waitress was very attentive and spunky with great suggestions, and the food was really good. Split one of the expensive pizzas with my wife and a veggie (beets with faro). The guancia pizza with guanciale, cheese, fennel and onion was delicious. Too bad is is not on the menu all of the time. Left being just the right amount of full.

Went to Delfina on a Wed night @ 7:00PM with a party of 6. Host said it would be 15 to 20 minutes. After waiting for 15 minutes, we asked for an update as they seated a number of smaller parties. She said she identified a table for us and the people at the table will be leaving shortly. After an hour of waiting, the people at the table she identified started to order desert. In the time we waited at least 10 smaller groups were seated. With poor service up front, I can only image the service when seated. We left in frustration, will never go back or recommend this restaurant. Too many other Pizza options out there.

The food is generally good but service is really not consistent. Most of the time the service is really slow and no one greets you even when you go in the middle of the day where there's no one there. My biggest concern the last time I was there was a server went to refill the dog water bowl they usually have outside, then came in without washing her hands and started putting oregano with her bare hands onto the condiments plate they give you. It's pretty disgusting so I can't imagine what other unsanitary things they overlook at their restaurant.

We were lucky that we didn't have to wait and got seated right way. Interior had high ceilings and was warm and inviting. Of course the amazing smell of their pizza and meatballs got my mouth watering by the time I sat down. I loved how they had grissini ready for us to nosh on while waiting for our pizza to arrive. We shared roasted carrots with honey, cardamom, ricotta cheese and breadcrumbs. I really enjoyed this. There was a variety of textures that I liked - soft AND crunchy. We also shared the Salsiccia pizza (Housemade fennel sausage, tomato, bell peppers, onions, mozzarella) which we loved. I am a huge fan of thin crust pizza and this definitely knocked it out of the park. One thing that some places make a mistake is put too much cheese on the pizza, making the crust a soggy mess. Not Delfina - just the right amount of cheese and toppings. I understand how the restaurant wants to seat as many people as possible but it gets uncomfortable when the tables are so close together you're practically knocking elbows with the patron sitting next to you. The music was a little loud for me - the acoustics in the restaurant is not conducive to conversation and you have to shout over the music. I'm all for AC/DC, but I don't need to listen to Back in Black on full blast. Someone noticed the music was loud and turned it down a bit which helped me concentrate on what my dining companion was saying. I really enjoyed my meal here and plan to make it my regular pizza place from now on! The chalk waiting list outside is a novel way to put your name down but if you want to avoid that, dine early at Delfina.

now open for lunch. love their light and crunchy breadsticks already waiting for you on the table. had the spicy cauliflower to start which was full of roasted sweetness and savory garlic. there were also bits of herbs and capers partnered with what seemed to be like crunchy cornflakes. very delicious. the funghi pizza was fragrant and full of savory mushrooms. we added egg to our pizza which made it all the better to dip our hot crispy crust into the runny yolk. we also added an egg to our proscuitto pie. the arugula was lightly dressed and the whole pie came together perfectly. service was quick and friendly. got there early so we didn't have to suffer the wait. definitely got very busy through the lunch hour. glad to have you in burlingame, delfina!

The best pizza in Burlingame for sure. Not quite up to SF standards, but great for Burlingame. The broccoli rabe pizza was delicious as was the sausage pizza (great great high-quality sausage). The pepperoni was meh... The magherita was good, but I've had better sauce. Th crust is delicious - chewy, thin and very tasty. This is not cheap pizza, but if I am going to eat carbs, I want to make it worth it - and Delfina is worth it.

Pretty fast for takeout, even during busy times. Pizza is on the expensive side (6-slice 12-inch pie with one extra topping will be about $20). Tastes delicious, though, so worth it once in a while.

Delfina Pizzeria is a N.O.P.E.: Noisy Overpriced Pretentious Eatery Sure, it's hard to combat the echo off of brick walls and a high ceiling, but at Delfina's you'll be seated close enough to a neighboring table to hear their conversation and nibble on their pizza when they aren't looking. I haven't tried this, but I could study the details of every dish my neighbors were eating on each of my three visits. The pizza prices aren't too bad (the pizzas are small, though, enough for two skinny women to share, perhaps), but if you want to add a topping like sausage it's $4. I had a glass of decent, not incredible, Syrah for $13. I could go to any high end bar or restaurant in SF and get a hand-crafted cocktail for that AND have enough left over for a tip. The gelato scoops are TINY, the size of a golf ball, so go ahead and order two for $5. When you first get there, get ready to Google the ingredients on just about every dish except the Margherita pizza. Why they can't give you some idea what an item is remains a mystery to me. Surely the overpriced wine could pay for a larger format menu? This place is all the rage in Bgame right now, but I don't find it to be worth the time or money. I'd much rather drive down to Vesta in RWC for their heavenly pies and gelato.

The prosciutto pie did not taste as good as the one you can get in Palo Alto. The prosciutto tasted extremely salty and had a tough texture to it. The arugula was also very bitter. The staff is also not the most professional.

I've been to their Pac Heights location once and to this Burlingame location once before as well. Went with some friends on a Thursday night. At 6 there was no wait and we were seated upstairs. Waitress gave us great advice that for 4 people, we'd need 2 pizzas, a salad, and something else. So we ordered the Diavola chicken. We hadn't even noticed that the chicken was taking a long time because our salad and pizzas came out quickly and we were just talking and having a good time. I briefly asked the waitress about the chicken, with no worry/anger/etc in my voice, just curiousity. Waitress said it would be another 6 minutes. We weren't worried. A little while later someone else came and apologized for how long the chicken took. We told her it was no problem but she said she had comped the chicken! How nice of her! We had absolutely no expectation of that. The food was great. I love the Broccoli Raab pizza, but I guess it's not everyone's cup of tea because two friends didn't like it all that much. We also ordered the Napoletana pizza with mozzarella and that was much better than I thought it would be. Great tomato sauce. And we ordered the Insalate Tricolore, which was small for the price, but really good. And the chicken - let me tell you. Delish! Crispy, peppery outside. Moist inside. On a bed of lettuce. It was delicious. That's what I would order again. And again. And probably again. We finished the night with the Amarena Cherry Sundae which was really good. Appreciate the customer service and the good food. Worth going, for sure.

Amazing food! Was a little bothered by all the dishes they dropped but it must be hard with all the glassware they use.

I love love pizza.. Matter a fact I used to own a pizzeria when I was 20. Sadly after 8 years in business, I had to sell it. Tough industry. Anyways nowadays pizzerias are called "craft pizzas" which is good but I like the original style. California style. Not thin nor thick. This place is a great place to hang out and chat with friends or family. Good selection of pizzas and pastas. I always get the broccoli and sausage pizza with some hot chili oil. Haven't had their pasta yet. The staff is good and attentive. Sometimes when they get busy you might have to wait a bit longer. Giving 3 stars now but will update after a few more visits. Enjoy!!!!

The food was ok. The arancini balls came out within minutes of us ordering them and while they were good, it was clear they were not fresh. We then waited a half hour for our salad (which was small and less than mediocre). We were a little annoyed it took so long for our salad and then it wasn't even good. Sigh. The pizza was the highlight of the meal. But I think the entire meal was tainted by the service. The other wait staff seemed much better than our server, so I am not sure that this is a fair review of the entire restaurant wait staff. Our server never once checked on us to ask if we needed anything or how we were doing. We had to ask for water, our salad, bill, etc. from the other staff. It wasn't particularly busy and if there were service issues he should have told us (although that seems unlikely). However, the worst part was that we could watch him in the mirror talking to his coworkers and looking at his receipts (tips?). Anyways, I recommend Blueline over Delfina's if in Burlingame. Food is fresh and service is better.

Prices went up ($3+ for a salad??) and they started charging for extra crostini. That irked me. Delfina was already expensive as is...

So I've been hearing a lot about this place which meant I needed to check it out for myself. A big reason why I haven't checked this among other places off my list is because the parking is just horrendous in the city! Now, the Burlingame location isn't bad, there's parking a block away at a lot. I think my party of 3 got there just in time because they were pretty packed at 6:30. We ordered a starter salad which was different from the picture I had showed the waiter. I thought I was getting Brussels sprouts but I ended up getting romaine lettuce...the pizza was yummy! Their crust is amazing as I'm a big crust person. We opted for the prosciutto pie and margherita which was more than enough for 3 people. The sauce on the margherita was good and not too heavy. The prosciutto pie was ok, a little hard to chew and every bite took an entire slice of prosciutto with it. Overall, pizza was good but I'll pass on the salad. They also have breadsticks at the table that you can munch on while you wait. Staff was friendly I'll be back to try something new next time.

Came here for dinner with the hubby and we ordered 2 pizzas each , salad, bottle of wine and cauliflower. Everything was delicious. Although this place only serves pizza I was glad to find Delfina here. I have only ordered Delfina in Mission and brought to the park so it was a nice change to actually sit inside and enjoy their pizza.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century.
