What a greatttttt server here at islands! His name was MICHAEL (the manager needs to give this guy a raise!) and we had a problem with the fries so he swapped them to fresher ones with no problem. He checked on us every so often and refilled our drinks, asked if we wanted more ranch, napkins, etc! Very calm, attentive, and friendly! The way servers and customer service should be. He wanted our experience to be great and I appreciate that!!!! Michael gets 5 stars!!! Islands gets 4 stars because one burger wasn't medium it was well (cooks). And the fries problem(fryer). Maybe dirty oil or cook time was off if they are using timed fryers.

Upbeat friendly service! :) Everyone is so nice and courteous. Food is always spot on. Those fries get the best of me. They are so good! The mango margarita enough said. I love Burbank Islands!

Haven't been here in awhile. The menu has changed. There are more "non burger" options which I think is great. But they do have a pretty mean burger. My fav is the BleuNami...because burgers and bleu cheese couldn't be more perfect a combo. Seems they got rid of the endless fries. Probably great for America's waistline but I did like that option. My absolute favorite is still the chicken tortilla soup. The endless bowl is great although the turn around time could be a little quicker. My suggestion is that if you plan on a second bowl, order it right away! It's really that good. (Fresh avocado, lots of chicken, slightly thickened broth base, and topped with crunchy tortilla strips served with a handful of corn chips). My favorite salad is the Kaanapali Salad. Really there is no bad food option. Service was prompt and friendly. I love the theme and the continuous surf footage. Drinks are fun but spendy. Parking is in structure and can be a little difficult at times... But it's free! Downtown Burbank is growing and the vibe of the area is fun and upbeat in a toned down, modest environment. Definitely worth checking out this Islands and the local area entertainment.

Islands... You can love or hate this place and many people do both. :-) Basically, this Islands is a good location in the heart of the Burbank shopping district. The restaurant itself is well laid out, spacious, and comfortable. The downside, due to its central location it can get very-very crowded during peak hours. So, if you don't want to wait go here on the off hours. Overall, the staff is nice, do their job well, and you can eat the food that all of the Islands restaurants have to offer: island influenced burgers and salads. It is a place to eat...

So when I was a kid I used to go to Islands quite frequently. The food alone isn't worth the 4 stars HOWEVER I gotta say that the service here is pretty good. I'm not quite sure if the waiters ENJOY their jobs or they happen to be great actors but you rarely feel neglected HA. I would especially suggest going to the bar area during Happy Hour when the food and the price fits just right. The chicken tenders, their endliess fries, and even their nachos are pretty damn spanking good. I would also say that their chili is the way I like it, not to beanie (meaning not too much beans inside). I would add that their milkshakes are super high in ice cream and even their burgers are great... Their veggie patty and turkey patties as alternatives hit the spot, seriously. Finally, gotta give some love to their quesadillas. Islands... That's the spot!

Dinner then movie? Or movie then dinner? Picked the later movie and walked around the corner to have a sit down dinner and possibly grab a drink. It was a Monday night, the movie was at 10:30, we got to Islands at 9:00. It was pretty dead, but still not enough staff coverage. I waited at the host stand for about 10 minutes to make first contact. Then I was asked to wait while the table was cleaned off. Even though there were plenty of other tables to be seated at in the same section. I had enough time to read their seating chart and get to know the sections. It's fine... maybe it's the best spot in the restaurant so it was supposed to be a nice gesture. I need a drink.. I never know what to order at Islands, mostly because I feel like I'm paying extra for an added side or garnish that I probably don't want. When our server finally took our order, I had read over the menu so many times I forgot I wanted a drink and ordered the Point Break burger. They had me at gruyère & bleu cheese. But what is caramelized bacon & onion relish? It was hard to get anyone's attention because there weren't any servers or runners or anyone to ask for help. But once you did, the response time was pretty quick. But like I said it was a Monday night, it was nice because it wasn't chaotic and the service was rude but something was still off. I enjoyed most of my burger. Didn't get the drink that had been on my mind all day, but we got to the movie in time.. Just in time to find out they gave us the tickets to the wrong showing. But that's another story.

I remember when Islands was the "hot spot" in high school. This was the the place to see and to be seen- come and hang out with friends or go out on a date. Unfortunately, as I have gotten older and enhanced my taste buds I have realized the food here is pretty bad. I come here from time to time (mainly when I'm dragged here) and the only decent thing you can get on the menu are their cheese fries. Don't bother with anything else. I really like their fun, themed island decor, but nice decor is not any kind of compensation for poor food.

I went to meet up with some girlfriends during happy hour (4 - 7pm) on a Thursday. The place was half filled and the staff were all friendly and efficient. We were originally seated in dining area but inquired about happy hour and we're told to sit at bar, where prices of what wanted was about 1/2 off so we moved. Our order: 2 Hawaiian sliders ($6 each), Beachside sliders($5), basket of fries ($3 - good to share), 2 small bowls of chicken tortilla soup ($5 each. Very hearty tasty), shorebird ($13) to go & tropical iced tea ($3). Total bill w tax but before tip $43. We had leftovers to go because they serve good portions. So if your looking for for friendly, courteous, attentive staff with good food, fair price and abundant portions, this is the place to go for burgers, sandwiches, endless fries & Hawaiian style tacos. Definitely will come back!

I can't give this Island location more then 3 stars do to there service. They were very slow friendly but slow. I mean our waitress took our drink order and the drink didn't come out till about 5 mins before the food came. Here another part of the service that was slow. All the burgers comes with unlimited fries. Our waitress as if we needed anything else, we said yes if we can have more fries pls. About 10 mins later no fries yet. Our waitress come back and said " oh you didn't receive your fries yet" ... Hello you'er our waitress aren't you suppose to bring it. On to the good note. There Maui and Kilauea burgers were good and cook the way we ordered it med rare. I had no problem with the food was very satisfied. Maybe that's why I have come back to this location for 3 years now because of there service.

Islands is one of the first restaurants I dined at when I moved into the Burbank area 14 years ago. The atmosphere evokes that surfer/Hawaiian feeling and the staff has been pretty consistently friendly and done a good job the dozen or so times I've been to this location. The food isn't earth shattering. Burgers are large, have good combination of toppings that aren't too messy to eat. The patty itself has a decent amount of flavor and they offer all you can eat fries. Great gimmick, though I wonder how many people require more than one helping? I can barely finish my burger let alone all the fries that come along side. I prefer the chips and salsa anyhow and the salsa is pretty good for a chain restaurant. Menu has been fairly consistent over the years so I'm guessing they aren't messing with a business model that works. Parking is in the enormous structure right beside the restaurant and that can be a lesson in patience when hungry! As the establishment has aged, I imagine most of the customer base are repeat fans. I haven't seen a wait in ages which is nice to walk in and get seating pretty quickly and they survived the Elephant Bar's demise. There's nothing here that brings me back more frequently though. Unless I'm really not feeling like a burger (which is rare) I don't suggest other options if my dining companions choose Islands. I don't think I've ever chosen this as a destination myself though. Although there's nothing wrong with the burgers, I don't really crave them like I do with other restaurants. It's really a solid 3 star restaurant.

I came here with a couple of friends to watch game 7, Clipper game. Ill be honest and say this wasnt our first choice, but considering the fact that this is the least packed sports bar in Burbank, on a night of the playoffs, hockey and a fight, count me in. There was a couple of parties ahead of us, but it was moving pretty quick and we got seated within 20mins. The staff is really friendly. The service is great. Our server is on top of her game. She made sure we were taken care of, which is nice. Maybe a little too much, but its all good in my book! The food is good. We had burgers, wings, salsa and chips. The burgers are good. The wings are alright, the salsa and chips are pretty basic, nothing to drool over. The drinks are good and theyre pretty strong. I had a traditional margarita and that was on point! Definitely be coming back for drinks! Happy hour mon-fri 4-7pm!

Awesome food! Great environment! Started my meal during Happy Hour with a nice Lagunitas IPA which was very refreshing AND cheap! I had the Hawaiin burger (cooked Medium) with cheddar cheese fries! Our server was the bartender Jessie and Todd and were amazing to us, very friendly! The manager Matt came by and had a conversation with us and definitely was very accommodating! Loved it!

I LOVE ISLANDS!! It's one of my favorite chain restaurants. They specialize in burgers but they also have so many other great items on the menu! I've been going to this Islands location since I was a little girl and it has yet to let me down. It's spacious and clean and nicely island-themed with surfboards and hut-like decor and fake birds and all. It's great! Although one thing I would have to say is that it is too dimly lit for my taste. The menu is simple, easy to follow. They have appetizers, soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos/quesadillas, beverages. I love the buffalo wings appetizer here! About 12 wings served with ranch sauce and celery/carrot sticks. Great way to start off the meal~ My favorite burger here is the Kilauea! It has jalapenos, onion straws, lettuce, tomatoes, chipotle aioli, and of course a juicy patty! It's so yums and full of flavor! You have a choice of white or wheat bread and the burger comes with fries! You can substitute your fries for sweet potato fries as well for $1.69. Yesterday I tried the tiki tenders and the spinach artichoke dip for the first time. The tiki tenders were standard chicken tenders...I believe 5 strips. They were good dipped in barbeque and ranch sauce! Nothing outstanding though. The spinach artichoke dip however quickly became one of my new favorite items on their menu! Warm, ooey, gooey dip with thin crisp tortilla chips! Our server was very sweet and made sure to give us ample time to look over the menu and checked up on us often without being overbearing. Parking lot here is basically downtown Burbank parking garage. There are plenty of parking spots, even if you go all the way to the top, there's an elevator that will drop you off right in front of the Islands entrance. Yay!

Whats not to like? Burgers and fries and salads oh my! I can't say much about the restaurant because I always eat at the bar when I do go. Three stars, because the burgers don't blow me away... They're average yet expensive. When I can go to in and out and have a burger blow me away for half the price... Well, I have to question some things. But, I'm sure I'd be blown away had in and out never ruined my life LOL I'm sure Islands is the bomb in states without Hook Burger, in and out or fat burger... But in Cali... Burger game needs to be #onPoint

Mostly we like Islands. Our friends brought us here, not that we hadn't been here before. It's a social place. The staff is always friendly. There's usually a LOT of noise, so be prepared. The music, the TVs showing sports, the sounds of people talking. And the parking around there has gotten really tough. We just went Sunday night, it was about 7pm and it was almost impossible to find a space. We went all the way down through the adjoining parking garage and there was not one space. We made three passes at it, and finally something opened up for us. We got lucky. Then we got to the restaurant and it was not too crowded, so people weren't going there! The food is pretty good.

Tiki land has some great wings here. Crispy and well tossed with sauce. The Mac and cheese taste and looks exactly like boxed Kraft Mac and cheese. For dessert do get heir delicious ice cream coffe Kona pie. It's swirled with fudge and almonds inside. Adorned with a cookie chocolate crust topped with whipped cream and a Maraschino cherry. Omg it's so good! Beware it can be easily shared. Service has been a hit or miss here when we have come.

Review for To-Go ONLY! Ordered: Sandpiper & Tortilla Soup *Sandpiper (grilled chicken breast w/ sauteed mushrooms, swiss, lettuce, tomato and mayo)- sounds good on paper but the taste was BLEH! The chicken was salty and the buns were soggy. Everything was coming apart, it was a very sad looking sandwich... Where's the love? *Fries- thank you french fries Nazi for giving me 8 overfried crunchy fries! Yes, I said 8! WTF!! There was plenty of empty space in the box, you could've scooped some more! *Tortilla soup- described as "a hearty soup"...DID SOMEONE FORGET THE CHICKEN & VEGGIES? I would also like to thank the server for the LUKEWARM SOUP & SOGGY TORTILLA STRIPS! Tip: pack the soup last, DUH! The soup was sitting on the counter for a good 30 mins before the sandwich was ready, SMH... It took FOREVER for them to take our order and even longer for the food. We were the only ones ordering to-go and the restaurant was 90% empty! Shiet, I should've dined in but we were in line for a movie at AMC, so had to grab and go... I won't be returning! Dinky servings, lukewarm soup and a messy sandwich...NO THANK YOU!

This is the best Islands location I've been to! My boyfriend and I go here whenever we want a "more expensive" meal because Islands is actually a bit more expensive than your normal burger joints. PARKING: There are two parking garages next to/across the street from the restaurant. I THINK both are free, although I've only ever parked in the one across the street next to The Elephant Bar. THE WAIT: My boyfriend and I came here this past Sunday, and were surprised at how busy it was for a Sunday evening. This place gets packed pretty easily. The seating hostess said it would be a 15-20 minute wait, BUT we only waited for 5 minutes before we got seated! :) SERVICE: Our waiter, Adam, was AWESOME! Some of the best service I've had in awhile. He was really attentive, and also pretty funny too. Everything was on point. I was tempted to tell my boyfriend to tip Adam well because he gave us really great service. FOOD: My boyfriend and I LOVE the Cool Breeze smoothie. It's coconut, strawberry, and banana and tastes AMAZING. It's something we look forward to every time we visit! On occasion we get the cheddar fries appetizer which comes with scallions and ranch dipping sauce! They are really great and perfect for cheese lovers :) If you don't want to order it as an appetizer, you can also substitute your regular fries from your entree for cheddar fries. For main courses, I usually get the Hawaiian burger which comes with fresh pineapple, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, swiss & mayo. My boyfriend loves the Malibu burger which comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, american cheese, applewood smoked bacon & mustard. Both burgers are pretty big and if we order an appetizer AND the Cool Breeze smoothies, we can usually only finish half of our burgers! Overall, I really like Islands, and this particular location has made me like it even more!

PUT DOWN the SALT SHAKER!!!! Wow! I ordered a Bowl which seemed healthy (Grilled Chicken, Snap Peas, Water Chestnuts, Bell Pepper, Onion and Pineapple over Brown Rice). I couldn't decide between Teriyaki or Hoisin so they suggested both on the side. GOOD idea. When it arrived I dipped my fork into each and YIKES! The salt level was through the roof! I almost didn't use either, but ended up with maybe three tablespoons of the Hoisin. Plenty! When I started eating it, I found the Grilled Chicken not only over-cooked and dry... but over-SALTED!!! Does anyone taste this stuff before it goes out! Seriously... try some other seasonings and get your Sodium under control! As for service... I do appreciate it, but reaching over me to serve others at the table (instead of going around the table) is more than unacceptable. And once we finished eating, clearing the table would have been very nice. And NO, they were not busy and had plenty of staff.

I've been here a few of times and have had great service each time. They are really easy going about adjustments to dishes to make them vegetarian and will even adjust the price since you're not getting meat. Plus, who can say no to bottomless fries? Definitely not me. Yum! On my birthday they even surprised me with a lovely brownie sundae that was super good! My friends and I all shared it and it was delicious. The waitress just happened to overhear that it was my birthday so the sundae made it really awesome.

This place is as always my favorite, the best hamburgers that I have ever eaten! The maui is great!!! People helping to take orders is very friendly and the environment is really nice. Next time you feel like eating hamburgers give it a try. You can ask for double meat, that makes it much more delicious!!!

My boyfriend and I have dined here twice, with great customer service both times. Pretty good burgers and well-sized, but the fries are always overfried. A little pricey compared to some of the other local burger joints.

DO NOT GO to this "restaurant." I have been a few times in the last few weeks and have had nothing but bad service and the food was not fully cooked. In fact my kids hot dogs where still frozen in the middle. Stay away!

    (1)
  • Scott M.

This is definitely a right down the middle type of place. I would put Islands on par with say Norms. The burgers are tasty but definitely not as good as many of the other "fresh burger" places in Los Angeles. The portions are big and will leave you feeling full for hours afterwards. Islands does have some solid nachos and no, they aren't real Mexican nachos but ones that Americans love to eat but are very yummy. I do dig the theme of the place and think its a good place to go out for a cheap dinner and movie date. Its nothing fancy but does work for what it is.

So today I decided to go into islands with my family and we decided to sit at the bar. As we were chatting It up we look to our right and we see these two chefs making food as we were getting our order out to the bartender and we ask? What kind of sandwich is that? And the bartender asks and it was a special sandwich made just for the chef we ask if we can get it.. By far delicious sandwich. It had bacon and avocado that had chili peppers mixed as a seasoning, Tomato ,lettuce, onions.. Was so delicious and great amounts of flavor. Loved it and the cooks names are Lalo and Manuel. So if you want a great tasting sandwich ask for the Lalo sandwich. Great and off the menu. And we had a great accommodator named Todd. He is funny great and makes people laugh. I'm definitely give this restaurant five stars for there accommodation and food skills in overall. Great place to go!

Had an awesome time here! Jessie was a great bartender! She treated us very well and was so much fun to talk with during our stay here. The manager Matt came by to make sure everything was alright. Really nice guy as well. Definitely will be coming back for more cause of the exceptionally well staff. And the food tastes amazing by the way!

I have been to quite a few different islands. This one was by far my favorite! The environment and atmosphere was lively and positive but not manic and loud. Our server Stacy was fabulous. Very attentive, friendly and fun. We even meet the manager Matt who was very kind and knowledgeable about the food. He made some excellent beer and dinner recommendations and even took the time to ask is what we were doing for the night and try to get to know us! I look forward to coming back to the restaurant and I will be requesting Stacy as a server again!

First off. We love islands and we've never had bad food or a bad experience. But Burbank takes the cake! Love love love! Food delicious as always and our server Robert! To die for... What a gem. So sweet, tentative to our table and I'm sure to all his other tables! We enjoyed Robert so much, I let the manager know! Not to mention, the manager is just as equally sweet. It just goes to show when you have fabulous management your employees are equally as fabulous!

Great service, great food and great atmosphere, as always. Thus the reason we chose Islands! It was a delight to see a restaurant we knew of when going to our movie. Islands is reliable to offer the same good food at each restaurant. Our waitress was kind, but left us alone a little too long as our drinks were empty most of our visit, but overall a good Islands experience! Parking in the nearby parking garage is free after 6pm, and before that there's a 3hr limit, but Islands service is so fast you won't need 3hrs!

The only reason this restaurant isn't getting 1 star is because the food was good and so were the hostess. Service on the other hand was horrid! Server had an attitude. Didn't really care about customer service even though we were one of her only tables.

I love this place friendly people cold air-conditioner even colder beer the beer so cold it freezes on the side of your glass ...loving it delicious burgers I can't say enough about this placevery friendly staff from the minute you walk to the minute you leave....The way its decorated is as if you really are in the island bar somewhere it feels like a vacation just to have a burger love this place

  • Geoff B.

I've been coming here for years and overall the food and service has been pretty consistent. I always get a burger and fries with the occasional appetizer. The burgers are never really "great" but they're tasty enough and are well sized. The fries are bottomless and while not super crunchy like I like them, they're cooked well and fluffy on the inside. The restaurant is interestingly laid out, though. Kind of in a "U" shape and only one way to get to the restrooms, which is a bit of a pain if they put you in the other side of the restaurant. Regardless, it's a fun place to go with friends, they order their fruity drinks and I get a beer, burger, fries, and onion rings.

I love coming here to get my veggie big wave burger. It always taste so good! I love the fact they have endless fries!! Always get seated fast, waiters/es are always super polite, and very attentive. Would def recommend this place to anyone.

I walked in with my family and it was crowded, but we managed to get seated right away. The waitress was friendly and we didn't wait to long for our food. I ordered a Maui burger. I would recommend this burger because they packed it with avocado which I love. We got two extra trays of endless fries.

"my review is subjective" This is your typical sit down restaurant, franchises. Food is okay, nothing to get excited about. If you are in the mood to just well not care what you are eating this wouldn't be a bad place to go.

    (3)
  • Joseph H.

Disappointingly bland. This was used as a burger of last resort to watch the World Cup in the area. The seating surprisingly allowed everyone in the restaurant to watch. But man has the burger dropped from the high regard I held it in my college memories...it was cooked as desired, but it had no flavor at all. Not even the cheese could identify itself in my mouth. All I could taste was a funky yellow mustard. And I love mustard! Fries were bottomless and always warm when asked for (got three rounds no regrets). But I could clearly see or rather taste the strains of a restaurant chain trying to avoid raising their prices again. It has lost them this customer.

My family and I come here every time someone is celebrating their birthday and we always have a great time. Good food, good ambiance and the servers are very attentive. I really appreciate how they run the place.

Eww this places burgers were so gross we gave them the money got up and left. The pink lemonade they make tasted really off like they left the cleaning chemicals in the drink container. Service was good though, our waitress was pleasant and friendly. Judging just from the food (which the pictures on the website looked great!) they deserve one star. There are much better places for you to eat at!

My wife and I rarely go out for dinner anymore but tonight we were celebrating so we visited the Burbank Islands. I love everything about Islands but on this particular trip much was left to be desired. I attribute that the fact that we had high expectations because like I said going out to eat is a rare treat for us. The biggest drawback to our trip was the service. We got there, sat down and ordered chips and drinks. We expected the server to leave the table and come back with our apps and drinks. She didn't come out with them until after she took our order. We asked for ranch with our app which she totally forgot. We also asked for another drink which she did not bring us. When the runner brought us our food we had to ask him for the drinks and ranch we asked our server for. We shouldn't have to ask for things more than once. After a long day of work and trying to enjoy a special meal, one should not have to beg for good service. An enjoyable meal with attentive service is not tok much to ask.

It was my first time dining at this restaurant. The food was amazing, i had a pipeline burger which was delicious .The service was amazing. I had an issue with an order, the waitress corrected the problem right away.My experience here was overall a great one I'll be coming back here again.

My fiancee and I wanted to have a few drinks so we decided to come here. It was the least packed bar in the Burbank area and although it isn't a full service bar, we were fine with that since we just wanted a drink or two before heading home. It took 10 minutes before a bartender decided to stop and take a drink order from us, mainly because she was spending most of her time with another patron whom she apparently knew. Throughout the night, the bartender spent her time focusing on the one patron at the center of the bar. We even witnessed several parties arrive at the tables at the bar, only to walk out 10-15 minutes later from lack of service. Only thing that changed the bartender's attention was my fiancee telling the bartender that her brother said, "Hi." My fiancee's brother is an Islands manager who used to work at the Burbank location, but has since moved to another Islands location. It shouldn't take a name drop to get some kind of decent service, especially for a small bar in a family restaurant that doesn't have many seats.

Haven't been to Islands in years and stopped by during lunch, it was a pretty solid experience. We were sat down right away and immediately I noticed that all the waitresses were super cute and friendly. Ordered a hamburger with fries was solid and large, the fries were hot and crispy $9.50. They also have lunch specials starting at $6.50. I will definitely try and make if for happy hour next time I'm in Burbank.

My wife, Libertad Green loves these restaurants! We went to this particular Islands Restaurant yesterday, to celebrate her Hawaiian Hula dance video on YouTube being viewed two million times. Christian took great care of us! I had my first Shipwreck (Midori, pineapple and orange juices, Grenadine)!

Life's a beach at Burbank's Islands. Never crowded and super friendly wait staff. The Shorebird (chicken breast on a wheat bun with pesto) is a hit! Chicken breast? Wheat bun? That must mean it's OK to get the fries.

The BEST burgers in town! I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger and it rocked my socks. The portions are generous and you can't beat the bottomless french fries, which by the way are AMAZING! The staff was awesome and very attentive. I especially like when they engage my son directly with questions. It is a fun atmosphere and great for kids.

I do a lot of pick up lunch orders for my job. I came in last week and the guy who helped me in take-out was very nice and patient even after the order was called in and the person didn't state there were separate orders (I think his name was Aaron). The manager was very nice about it as well and helped to separate the orders and it all worked out.

Point Break Gruyère & bleu cheeses, caramelized bacon & onion relish, lettuce, tomato & mayo. The caramelized bacon is marinated and juicy and extremely flavorful. Big portion I felt stuffed like after a Thanksgiving meal. Not to mention the free refills on fries..(Garlic) fries was also good. Great staff, friendly, and funny. Not loud, good environment,

Always a friendly atmosphere here. Wether they are jammed packed or it's a slow day they will definitely take care of you. Always enjoy coming here before heading to the mall or the movies. Keep up the great work to the Islands staff. Our server Michelle was excellent. Always checking up on us and customer service was outstanding. It's great how they have a little bit for everyone here. You want to catch the highlights on the games they have them for you or just want to watch the news or not even watch tv and have a chill night they definitely do it here. Outstanding service and staff. Keep up the great work.

Consistent reliable, quick and easy. Nothing special but good for lunch. Burgers are awesome, fries are delish. I like their salads too. The jungle Cesar salad is good- I get easy dressing. Otherwise it is too much dressing. The passion fruit iced tea is my favorite.

We called Islands to see if the USC vs Washington State game was playing and the gal on the phone said yes. We brought our 4 year old grand daughter and dressed in USC gear and went there to have lunch and watch the game. After several minutes of them trying to find the game on there TVs they sent the Manager ( I forgot his name) to tell us that they didn't have the package on Direct TV that was required to watch the USC game. He apologized and gave us $15 in Islands gift cards. How nice was that? We told him that we were going to walk to Barney's Beanery to watch the game. The Manager then asked if he could call them to make sure that the game was playing there. What a great recovery to a frustrating experience, we will be back to Islands because of this great experience. USC won which added to the day! Nice job Islands

I remember I used to ditch school in high school and head over to my local Islands for their unlimited basket of fries and unlimited soda refills. Back then I could eat anything and not get fat. What's scary though is that since California passed the Calorie Act or whatever it is called that requires chain restaurants that have more than 15 branches within the state to pose caloric data for their food on the menus, I'm finding out that not only was my metabolism great back then, but the shit I used to eat was fucking unhealthy. And you know, Islands is definitely not healthy. Now, I know that I shouldn't be complaining because my meal was free in deference to some surfing competition being cancelled in Hawaii, but now I know why I haven't been back to Island's for years. The food just isn't that great both taste-wise and health-wise. The Mavericks Burger consisted of BBQ sauce, crispy fried red onion strings, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo that was served with a side of fries. Normally this burger would cost $10.45, but thank goodness it was free because I just did not dig it. The patty was overcooked and it did not taste like any burger I had in Hawaii. In fact, it kind of reminded me of a lesser version of the Carl's Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger without the bacon. Also, the signature crispy red onions that they trademarked as Island Reds tasted like the canned stuff you put on green bean casseroles. Moreover, for the price of one Mavericks Burger, at In-N-Out I could have gotten three tasty cheeseburgers, fries and a drink... Not that I would have, but I could have. Regardless, free is free so for that I am grateful to Islands... and I must admit that I felt guilty about getting a free meal so I ordered a beer and left a nice tip. While it was great of Islands to offer free burger and fries, it looks like I'll be hitting the gym extra hard for the rest of the week. *I don't normally count calories, but since it was right there on the menu, I noticed that the Mavericks Burger alone has 1,570 calories combined with more sodium and fat than is recommended for your daily diet! **According to calorieking.com/foods/ca… , to burn those calories I would either have to jog for 3 hours or walk for 7 hours. And that's not including the fries and beer. Fuck my life. ***I miss being in high school when I could eat whatever the fuck I wanted. Like endless packs of Haribo gummy bears... sigh... ------------------------------------------ Pictures Free Meal to Fattiness: yelp.com/biz_photos/RVtC… Receipt: yelp.com/biz_photos/RVtC…

One of my daughters wanted to have a family dinner here and so we went and we had a great family moment. Not fancy, but it was great. Pamela our waitress made us feel like we were at a 5 Star restaurant. Food was awesome, wait time was little to no wait. Thanks Pamela!

Cant believe ive been coming here for over 10 years and havent written a review. Islands is the old reliable of eaterys. If anything the quality has gotten better with the passage of time. I still remember the Islands dark ages when you had to buy fries separate. I know to terrible to think about. Now you can get bottomless fries. A true modern marvel. I always loved the pelican but since that got taken off the menu my go to is the CA flyer. Love me some bbq chicken. Tacos are actually pretty good. Cant really go wrong.

Service is usually friendly, and the food is okay. I usually stick to the burgers - they're juicy, have interesting toppings, and the fries are pretty good too. Not too busy during lunch, so you can grab a bite and be back in the office in under an hour.

Great atmosphere and reasonably good food. The french fries are such a nice change from typical chain fries. They taste very much like thicker version of In-and-Out fries: very fresh. We really enjoyed the ambiance as it feels like a trip to the Disneyland Tiki Room (sans singing birds and Dole whip). If I lived closer, this would be a favorite hangout. We ate in the bar area (no waiting) and everyone was very friendly.

Came with my wife to watch some playoff basketball and had a great experience! There are tvs everywhere to watch while enjoying a cold beer. Our server Adam I think his name was, was excellent and suggested a great golden ale for me to have with our cheese fries and burgers. Very attentive as well. Will be coming back with the family!

I have been coming to Islands since I was a kid, and I love the Maui burger. Everything here is good. I have never had a bad experience at Islands, so that being said I will continue coming here. Thank you for tasty burgers!

Quality has gone down, way down. I used to remember the juiciness, the flavors, the avocado! Now the only thing left is the ghost if a great burger. Two times in a row have confirmed my greatest fear, the Burger joint/millionaire/chain/restaurant has lowered its own standards. Burger was bland, dry and it almost felt rubbery. Buns seemed old and even stale. The only thing holding my burger was the cheese, go figure. Fries were endless? I had to look up and wave at my waiter just to get a refill fries and then it took 10 minutes to get them. I very much doubt they had to go and make a new batch just for me. I give it 2 stars simply due to the decor and location and mixed review if service. The only time I will go ever go back is if someone treats me next time.

If you like Mushroom burger, Hula is the best burger in town for my fellow mushroom lovers! If you like spicy, try the Kilauea burger (not the easiest word to spell). Oh and almost forgot, their chicken wings are very tasty as well! Great atmosphere! Great Food! However, if you have problem in the patience area, dont go there on a busy time or else chances are the waiters wont be checking up on you every 10-15 mins. I have had to get up from my table and literally go find my waiter at times. So, 4 stars only for under staffed waiters on rush hours! however, their good quality of food makes up for it to some extent!

My girlfriend makes me go to this Islands sometimes. The burgers are NOT THAT GOOD. Get the Baja tacos and then your girlfriend will want the Kona Pie and you'll be like "let's get candy at the movie theater instead" but she's right, you'll like the Kona Pie.

It had been at least a year since I went to Islands... I was craving a burger & being that I had plans to meet up with a grade school classmate, we both agreed Islands was the choice. Having been here many times over the years, I've never been really disappointed... until last night. We were seated at a booth towards the back. Both my friend & I agreed on the endless fries. I opted for a big wave burger with cheese. He got the hawaiian... We both ordered regular iced teas. We were both hungry & looking forward to eating our burger & fries. The french fries came with the quickness.... They weren't served in the deep basket of a bowl that I remember. Instead it was in more of a shallow one. I dug in and my first fry was super salty. I mean SUPER salty... So salty I had to take a big sip of iced tea. I thought that was a fluke so I went for more and sure enough the fries were all pretty much blanketed in salt. Both my friend & I were like WHOA.... I described it as if someone spilled the salt container on our order of fries. The waitress came & we told her. She apologized & got us a fresh basket of french fries. The 2nd basket was still very salty but not as salty as the first one... We were like WTH? She saw our faces & asked what was up and we told her. She offered to bring us more fries but this time with NO salt.. We said yes, pls... And that batch was much better. But honestly, the experience was already ruined for me. Our burgers came and to my surprise, fries come with them now... I didn't know that. It had been a while since I'd eaten at Islands and obviously this was one of the changes. But the waitress should've informed us. We could've gotten cheddar fries or nachos... And you know what? The fries that came with my big wave burger were pretty damn salty... NOT COOL. Service was decent. Food was forgettable... Burger was ok but was overshadowed by all the salt crystals that covered the fries. Islands has to do much better. I've been a long time supporter but that was not a good experience overall. My support for them is waning...

The service here is really great and the burgers are always good. A bit of a wait on food but nothing bad. My hub asked for a well done pipeline burger and was given a chicken burger. That was a bit disappointing because we already waited long enough and didn't want to wait longer for the correct burger. He ate it and said it was ok but would have been better if it were a beef patty. Last time we were there, the fries were great but this time, they were completely different. They tasted old or like they were cooked in old oil. Idk just a weird bland old stale taste. A year ago I was there and it was great but this time it wasn't the same. I guess it's one of those hit or miss places. I would still try it again because they are friendly and super quick on refills.

Popped into Islands after waiting 30 minutes for a menu at another local establishment. So glad we did! Enjoyed one of their Malibu burgers (applewood smoked bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and mustard) with Provolone (subbed from their usual American) cheese on a wheat bun.... Delicious! Also indulged in one of their tropical drinks (Shipwreck)... Fabulous! The staff was friendly and service was quick! I would happily pop into another Islands for lunch/dinner, anytime!

I have not been to an Islands in about 2 years, so it was a nice change in pace as far as getting something to eat, as we (My girlfriend and I) normally go to another eatery near by when ever we are around. The food was served pretty fast (even though I was giving my girlfriend a hard time about how it was taking too long, because I was pretty hungry). We both ordered the Rincon Burger, and shared the Cheddar Fries. The burgers were pretty good, but not that great on a scale of 1-10 though I do have to admit they were very filling. The Cheddar fries were pretty good, but once the layer of Cheese is done, the bottom fries were a bit soggy. they were pretty good with Ranch dressing, but I never got to finish them. I also, enjoyed a "Cool Breeze" smoothie with my meal which was very tasty.

  • Micky W.

I think maybe I ordered the wrong thing... I should have done a burger as all my friends seemed to like those and I have to say that we chowed down on the french fries were good too. However, I ordered some veggie tacos and they were about the worst tacos I've ever had. First, they were cold so that put a huge damper on it; second, they didn't really taste like tacos - it was just a bunch of random vegetable fillings and no hot sauce. There's so many quality eateries in socal so I don't think this one is really worth the time.

I came here with my girlfriend yesterday early night. We were given a table facing some kind of back door when there was plenty table available in the front.. I had to asked to be moved to a better table. I give it 2 stars because the food was decent However the service was nothing to brag a about.. I saw my waitress two or 3 times during the whole time I was there. My girlfriend and I used to come here often; but the service this time made me remember why we stopped coming. Our burgers were really good but we got a tiny portion of fries. I think fries are unlimited but we didn't see our waitress to ask for more until we were done with The burgers.. However she did offer more late but she did. When I asked for my check I was given two different sets of bills each with different total, both with my credit card info on them but She didn't tell me which one I should sign. I believe she made a mistake and ran my credit card twice... No problem there honest mistake. But I had to wait for like 10 min for her be around so I could flag her down and asked her what happened. When I asked she said "don't worry you will be charge just for what you consumed if you are charged twice just give us a call in a few days" with a really bad attitude.. I like the food and drinks here but I don't think we're coming back. I'm in the hospitality business and I know I can't be rude to any guest and expect them back.

BEST STAFF EVER!!!!! We love our neighborhood Islands...and today we REALLY love them. My son's friend left his iPod in the booth after we left and two and half hours later we returned with no hope of recovering it. Lo and behold the hostess went searching and and asking staff and she found the iPod!!! Honestly, it's a really friendly and happy place to go for burgers...we're lucky to have them in Burbank!

This is a great restaurant in downtown burbank! The staff is always friendly. My favorite thing about islands is the food. The buffalo fries were spicy and delicious. I wanted to eat more and more of them! My main course was a veggie burger. It was good but I've had better. The only other reason I gave this place four stars is the slow service. Overall a good place.

Came here with my friend for Happy Hour before we caught a movie at the AMC. Their Happy Hour menu looked decent at first. I got an Island Tea, which is basically like a Long Island except instead of floating it with Sweet & Sour and Coke they use Pineapple and Strawberry. It was pretty tasty, packed a decent punch, and was only $4.25. Unfortunately, the Happy Hour food sounded better than it actually tasted. The fries were good (How hard is it to screw up fries?) and were $1.95. We got a quesadilla, which had zero flavor. It basically tasted like cheese melted in a tortilla, but to be honest I've made better quesadillas at home. The chicken tenders weren't anything amazing either. Lots of breading and too crispy. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. The guy gave honest feedback about the drinks and I was happy with his recommendation. They were a little busy at times but that's to be expected. The only reason I gave this place three stars is that the drink was good and regular food at Islands is okay. If I came back I would just order off the regular menu. As a Happy Hour this place just gets a 1.5 since I wouldn't order the Happy Hour food again. So enjoy the Happy Hour drinks and get your burgers and stuff off the regular menu!

The order was screwed up a bit. The waitress NEVER came over to check on us. We had to flag her DOWN to point out the mistake the kitchen made (she did take the order correctly). Then she gave us the the wrong check. A bit aggravating.

Shitty food and even shittier service. I've given this islands so many chances and it always gets worse. One time at he bar we had to ask the man to take our order and had to ask for our check. The waitresses/waiters never pay attention to their customers I asked for a refill and after 10 mins of waiting with my waiter passing by I had to get up and refill my drink myself. Another time my friend found a hair in her quesadilla all the manager said was if she wanted another one made. Another time my friend ordered nachos and said NO Sour cream, her order arrives WITH sour cream she politely asks the waitress for a plate to remove the sour cream and the waitress gives us attitude. I'd rather drive all the way to Glendale for my islands burger.

I went to this Islands almost 2 months ago but never got a chance to write a review. I'm not really sure why anyone would come to Islands when there are so many good places around in downtown Burbank. The only thing I truly liked here was their spinach artichoke dip. It comes with fresh tortilla chips. I ordered a salad and the portion was huge. The taste was okay but nothing impressive. My date had the fish tacos. I didn't try any but he seems to have liked it. I had the mango strawberry smoothie and it was horrible. The smoothie was too sweet and tasted too much like pineapple juice.

Jessie was our waitress for lunch. I am very happy with the food but the service could have been WAY better. It almost seemed as if it was my fault she was working there. Would it kill you to smile every now and then? I always get the Chicken Club Wrap ---- delicious!!

I usually hate going out of Glendale to places/stores/restaurants that are in my hometown. But, lately, I've been more appreciative that my neighboring cities have the same exact stores, except a tad better (sometimes). Now the parking for this location is not always easy, but I'll take it. It's a bigger structure than the Glendale one, and no validation required. Super-friendly service. Like, the only time I got service that courteous was when high school friends worked there. And that was about a decade ago (ouch). Food was prepared as we ordered it. Refills were prompt. Check was correct. And we had a pleasant time.

I have lived in southern California for 3 years and this was the first time I've been to Islands. AMAZING, RIGHT? On the plus side, it is an excellent place for mid-day drinks with co-workers, which was the agenda for the day. I had a cheeseburger that was tasty enough. On the minus side, it is a chain, which is an automatic minus one star. Islands is exactly what I expected: TGI Fridays with a beach vibe, over-priced drinks, and burgers. Woo hoo. In closing, we had excellent service and booze. A win!

Not bad The food is good there is lots of varieties but some of the food isnt that good like the french fries. The workers are helpful and very nice and show attention but some are slow and the food is slow and the wait is pretty long sometimes. The seats are enough and were available.

This review is solely based on an experience I had with a waitress there by the name of "Jazmin". This past Sunday, a few friends and I decided to go out to dinner and have a few drinks to end our weekend. The food was okay, the drinks were okay, the service was decent (kinda slow)... But what was so upsetting was that when I checked my online statement this morning, I had been charged $16 more than what I had actually put down on my card!!! I asked one of my friends if they had included a tip on their card (thinking the waitress may have accidentally charged the wrong card), but nope!! We had all pitched in a hefty amount of cash for the waitress, since our bill was equally hefty. So, this review is based on the customer service of this waitress in particular. I'll be going down to have a talk with the manager later today to straighten things out. Hopefully, it turns out she made a mistake and all goes well. If not, all hell shall break loose and best believe I'll be back with another review to tell the story...

I ended up tipping more than 20%!!! That's how great they were. Let me start by telling you that 20% is the highest that I tip. The GF and I popped in on 11/14/2013 (Thursday night) around 9p to enjoy their late night happy hour. We were headed to Flappers for a 10p show and never made it to the show. We didn't make it to our show because our waitress/bartender Brittany was FANTASTIC!!! She greeted us with "HAPPY THURSDAY" and had a very warm & welcoming smile on her face as she explained the Thursday night specials. She was VERY knowledgeable of the Drinks and Food items on the menu and gave us great recommendations based on what we told her we liked. Not only that, but we had a brief convo about our passion for cheese and she did a great job of following up on us to make sure our dining experience was a great one. Our drinks (Mai tai) were very made well and after drinking half of hers, my GF was ready to "tap out". I ordered the nachos and as Brittney suggested, the beans and guacamole really made the nachos go over the top!!! Mmmmm!!! The GF had buffalo wings and a side of fries. ALL portions were large enough for 2 people and we both looked at each other and made the decision that we didn't want to go to the comedy show and just hung out at Islands. We watched the end of a great NBA basketball game that went down to a buzzer-beater. With no pressure from staff to order more, we happily wrapped up our night around 10:30p. Looks like we have a new late night Happy Hour place. Great job to the ENTIRE STAFF that worked this night!!! Yes, the experience was worth the 23% tip/gratuity that we left and we will be returning.

I am a regular here. That means it great food great drinks great service. I always come with a big party so I have to wait a while but never longer than 20 minutes. That's amazing for a party of 12 . The waiters are nice and very attentive. Delicious burgers, buffalo wings, chickens tenders, ranch and tortilla soup. I recommend this Island

For years I haven't been a fan of Islands because I always felt the food was just mediocre. I decided to give it another chance this time... because I found a coupon for a free Maverick burger. I must say I was impressed. The staff was oh so friendly. The bartender constantly asked if I needed anything, my water was always refilled when running low, and the overall environment was just chill. Now let's get down to bidness. The Maverick burger was damn good! It came with your typical lettuce, tomato, mayo, cheese, and BBQ sauce... but the kicker was the French fried onion which took it to another level. If it wasn't for this free coupon I found it probably would've been another couple of years or so before paying a visit here, but man was I glad I found it. Don't you just love it when something once meh gets a makeover and becomes hot? Visions of an "I was once ugly but look at me now" talk show are coming to mind. Anyway, I'll be coming back!

Warning: If you want your husband, boyfriend, significant other to actually pay attention to you - don't go to this restaurant. Seriously, there are televisions everywhere! It's so distracting. Even I got sucked in a few times. This place would be more suitable for a group outing. My husband had a Cobb Salad. I tasted it as well. It was ok...nothing to dance over. The hubs adores this kind of salad but he wasn't too pleased with this one. He said he didn't like the dressing. I believe it was a "creamy vinaigrette." It was a bit tangy. I ordered a Nalu Nalu burger. It was pretty good but very messy so be prepared! The fries it came with however were extremely hard - and not in a good way. The service was ok. The waitress was very pleasant. But I'm not going to lie, I was a little bit peeved when I got a medium rare burger. I asked for it to be well done. I loathe pink on my meat. My guy had a complaint as well. He was completely distressed over the fact that he didn't get more bleu cheese crumbles over his salad like he asked. LOL I think he was full of it. It looked like they packed it in real well. We didn't say anything though. We just ate our meals anyway. There's no need to go nuts right? Although our trip here was ok I don't think we will be going here again. I honestly rather just have a burger from In & Out or The Habit. They're less expensive and taste just as good if not better. PROS: decent burgers, good amount of food, nice staff CONS: distracting ambiance (not a place for a date), order was not 100% correct.

Pretty good service. The food wasn't bad either. I do appreciate the strength of their alcoholic beverages though. Our server was really on it. Made sure we were doing well quite often. Was a bit excessive, but better that than no service at all. The portions of the food are huge, and that's something I forgot about! The bar service is fast and they even have a taxi number posted. Pretty cool if you get sloshed.

After our Rockin appetizer cheese fries, I became extremely pissed off. When i said rockin cheese fries i literally mean it. There I am eating these good fries and I bite on something so hard i think i chip my teeth, i pull it out of my mouth and BAM two small rocks. Now i hate to call the place out like that but after all my dining experiences, I do have to say I never thought i would find rocks in my food - to me that is just really unacceptable.. The manager explains that they make their own fries and maybe these rocks just didn't get washed out before the potatoes were peeled and fried blah, blah, blah... Then im eating my chicken sandwich (that is really good) and i feel something hard in my mouth again..So i pull a small chicken bone out..At this point im like ok, im not even going to say anything..Just eat and get the F outta here..and I hate to be "that person" that is just bitchy and freaking out over a couple mistakes..But really, when we decided to go to Islands-i didnt think i would end up having an experience where i felt like I was really stranded on an island eating rocks and bones! They offered us free dessert and comped the fries to try and make up for the rocks in my fries (whoopty freakin doo)..We got the Kona Pie and OMG it was the only thing that was not ruined..Besides the great service, this Kona pie is the only other reason for 2 stars..I would come back just for dessert just as long as next time our meal is minus rocks and bones..I have to say I am mad at this place though for ruining my afternoon.

Islands isn't terrible, I think I just hate chain establishments in general. Everything is generic feeling to me....blah. Anywho- on with the review.... Every other week I'm stuck in burbank and am often displeased with the options of eateries in this area, even tho there seem to be alot. Islands is convenient because of the parking, that's about the only reason I ever eat here. The GOOD - its clean and the service is okay - I LOVE the toucan terriyaki chicken sandwich - they have a tasty artichoke dip appetizer - the decor is interesting to look at The BAD - I get it- its a surf theme. I feel like I'm going to get sand in my mouth - The ice tea is ALWAYS gross. Its never fresh (tried it 3 different times) - The staff is 90% 16 year olds who don't really care about service - Nothing comes with fries. that annoys the HELL out of me. (what? I'm cheap!!)

I've been here 5 times in the last 10 years. As a vegetarian there were not many veggie options, and after looking at their nutritional/ingredients menu online now I see that there are even less options for us (yes veggie fans, even the guac is not veggie friendly). No big deal. So the reason I give them 3 stars is because I would only go back for the drinks. The drinks have always been great! So for the future I would drink at Islands then walk over to the movies, on a good buzz..

I love Islands. Perhaps I should, indeed, marry it. This Burbank location was my first encounter with the tropical-themed chain, and by golly, it's been a whirlwind culinary adventure since. I might have lost a few readers with that last sentence. The first time I ate here I got a quesadilla. I was ridiculed appropriately, who does that? No folks, it's the burgers you're after. The Pipeline, Sunset, Big Wave, Hawaiian...all fine choices. When I go for lunch tho, I usually get the Yaki (teriyaki chicken soft tacos of goodness). As far as their chicken sandwiches go, I like the Toucan. The Sandcastle kids sandwich is good. I haven't ventured too far beyond the above items. They have beers and margaritas. I like the lemonade. Oh, the fries. Get them, they don't come with burgers, but are a good call. They only have two desserts, but are worth it. Every Islands I've been to has been pretty clean, no problems there. The service has always been nice enough. Islands isn't my absolute favorite restaurant, but for a chain, it's pretty good and ranks up there.

umm i have to say, after eating at several well known "burger places", i have to say that their turkey burgers are.......insane.... and the fries comes with it... what a noble concept (stouts)... juicy, big, flavorful, im craving one right know... the price was great for the portions, and i do not eat beef/pork... and i am a trainer, so once a week or so, i treat myself to something bad...other than that im on a pretty strict diet...

I've been coming to Islands since I was in high school 15 years ago and I still order the same thing each time: toucan chicken burger on wheat no mayo. That is how you know it is the ultimate awesome chicken burger with the perfect amount of teriyaki sauce toasted on the bun with a slice of pineapple. Oh, and don't forget to order the cheddar fries with ranch on the side. Try not to look at the calorie count coz they are scary looking....YIKES!!!

This one is really no different than the others. It's an ISLANDS. It's of the same ambience (design), menu, staff, specials, food, yea, it's the same. ISLANDS ranks about 4 stars with me over all. This one is no different, ISLANDS yourself away. I suggest the fries, the tortilla soup and the Sunset Burger.

This is the second time I eat at an Islands and not too impressed with the food or service. The servers/ hostess are all young and I feel rushed, like they just want you in and out. The prices are reasonable. We were there a bit late and where closing that could also be why they wanted us out so quick. My kids do enjoy it though so I guess I will still be going back... But not on date night (:

I've eaten at many Island's locations, and I have to say, this one is not at the top of the list. While the food is as good as all the other locations (Northshore ROCKS), the parking SUCKS, the waiters are not attentive, and the drinks are watered down. The ONLY reason I gave this location a 3rd star is b/c of the KONA PIE. HOLY CRAP. Our waiter made it awesome. Extra whip, extra nuts, and extra chocolate drizzle. A drizzle fo Dizzle. Gotta love that.

Always very good...consistently good food, upbeat service and fun atmosphere. I recommend the burgers...you go to a burger joint for burgers. Big and juicy...white or wheat grilled buns...fresh toppings...awesome fries and onion rings. Hungry yet???

  • Mark B.

Pubes in the fries people! Pubic hairs in the fries. Our idiot of a waiter actually asked if we wanted replacement food. Yeah, this time I'd like jizz in my shake as well. Or, this time put the pubes at the bottom so I can at least get through a few of the cheesy good fries before having to hold back the vomit from my mouth. It doesn't let me rate zero. Why not? WHY?!? P.S. Despite the insane tone of this review, there really were pubes in the fries. And our waiter really was a retard. Sad, but true.

Islands is great. If you're looking for comfort food and a fun, casual environment this is the perfect place. The food is very tasty - burgers are delicious and YOU MUST GET THE CHEDDAR FRIES. They have the best cheddar fries in the world. Islands has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. And the prices are not bad. Highly recommended.

Love everything about this place. I come here about once a week and there are little things that irritate me every now and again, but on the whole I love this place. The veggie Kilauea is the best ever! So glad they added it to the menu!

first time i went there, the food was good and the service was great. second time i went there, the food was good, but the service sucked. i suggest that poeple should go here in the morning because the service will be much better than the evening servers. how can you enjoy food is the service is poor? just a thought...

Islands is basically Chili's with a tropical theme. As long as you accept that ahead of time and don't expect anything particularly good, Islands is fine. Not a ton of options for the vegetarian, but I do seem to remember a veggie teriyaki burger that wasn't too bad. The big plus of Islands is that they do have a full bar. So even though the food isn't great, you can at least get drunk.

Worst Burgers I've ever had in my life. I don't know what the hell any of you people are talking about saying its good. I keep giving this place a chance, but the quality of meat is f-ing crap!! Gritty...gross...blech. I agree with dizzle though...KONA PIE IS HEAVEN IN YOUR MOUTH. Oh ya cheese fries w/ ranch...WHOLY SH*T. mmMmMMM BBQ Chicken salad is alright. Maybe I should try the tacos...eh.

Islands is just islands. When you want an unhealthy but tasty burger and fries islands is you spot. They also have good salads. I like the china salad is the best. Its getting a little pricey for lunch though. You can't get out of there for under $15 for one person at lunch, so most of the time I'll eat elsewhere. It does have a fun atmosphere and the service is really good. If you're in the mood for good tasting bad for you food, this is the place.

I am the Queen of Take Out. That's what I've become. I work late and get stuck on food duty for the team. I call up restaurants with long and somewhat complicated orders and hope they get it right so I don't look stupid in front of the partner and manager. This is my life. Anyway, tonight was Island's night. We ordered a bunch of food, some of which needed a bit more instruction than just "I want that". For example, we wanted tacos with caramelized onions, but no raw ones...Did we get that? Nope. We got tacos with no onions what so ever. Yes, it's probably a hard one to enter into the system but hey, you read it off to me over the phone correctly, why not make it correctly too? One thing I do like about take out here is that they put everything in nice individually sized boxes that are labeled on the top - so easy to figure out whose food is whose! Therefore, three stars. I'm not going to rate the food - It's Islands people. You've been here before.

I like Island's, I do. Granted, I wish their menu was a little more diverse occasionally, but the service here is always excellent, the food is consistantly good, and it's great for large groups. We come here for lunch as a large group from school often and there is never a problem getting seperate checks, all the food comes out quickly and we're always seated promptly. I just wish they'd change their uniforms, those poor staff members.

Only one burger that I order if I come here, the BLEUNAMI with blue cheese dressing, lettuce, tomato, red onion & crumbled blue cheese. Very very good. For dessert I always have the Kona Pie, Mocha almond fudge ice cream and cookie crust topped with chocolate fudge, roasted almonds & whipped cream. Island being a chain always serves the same consistent food and offers efficient service as well. I wouldn't seek the restaurant out for an elaborate dinner or anything, but it's great once in awhile as a quick bite.

    (3)
  • Amy J.

The burgers here are quite filling. I had the Sunset which is a specialty with BBQ sauce...pretty tasty but way too big for me to finish. The cheese fries are pretty good too. This is a SoCal only chain with a Tiki theme. Kind of a fun place to go if you're looking for something not terribly expensive. My friend's mom calls it "islanders" which is pretty freakin hilarious because it sounds like something my mom would say too. Enjoyable.

  • Vince D.

I used to love eating Island's cheese fries, but then I quit dairy and lost 30 pounds. Now I only go into the bar for lunch sometimes to get their pineapple & teriyaki veggie burger on a white bun. This place isn't healthy, and in no way do you feel like you're actually on an island, but it's a cheap diversion.

A great hamburger! When ever I am in the area I try to stop in for lunch. Their cheese fries are out of this world!

Consistently good food. Excellent portions. Excellent value. I get out for lunch every day with coworkers and this burbank restaurant always one of my preferred places. They have a fresh refill of my soda delivered to to table before I'm even finished drinking my present one. Sooooo freindly. The only downside is you sometimes have to wait 5 minutes or so to get seated. This is understandable as food and service is so excellent.

Tristen and I went to the AMC theatre in Burbank, the one in the mall. Well, that place sucks. 2 and a half hours after watching Butt Pirates of the Carribean 2, we decided to go eat and vent somewhere. It was hot as a mother. Wait, what's that like? A mother giving birth? Whoa, gross EJ. Islands is one of those chains where you go for burger, fries and not-too expensive cocktails that fill you up big time. The wait staff is generally attractive, not too bright and scarce when you need them. They must all be flight attendant rejects or something. So yeah, I do have to say, I wish the fries were FAT. I like fat fries, not skinny fries. So I'm not going to go apehooey about the portions, which are plentiful. I just prefer fat fries. When so many chains offer fat and skinny, why not just offer both? Otherwise, a pleasant dining experience. Weren't surrounded by kids or nothing and got to enjoy not even thinking about the almost three hours we wasted on Butt Pirates.

    (4)
  • E S.

Short Version: Choose carefully; odds are not in your favor here. Long Version: Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's cheap. Yes, it's convenient. The problem is that the few times I've gone here, there has sometimes been a resulting intestinal distress issue. And not just me, but my guests as well. But if you're wise and have a cast-iron stomach, you should be fine.

had an hour and a half to kill before a movie started at the AMC. my friend, myself, and the bf were all hungry after a long day at work. we looked to see what was near and islands was around the corner. we walked in and were seated quickly. the waitress heather was really nice. we ordered 2 cokes and one lemonade. i go the maui burger with no mayo, avocado slices instead of guacamole. my bf got the same burger except with no onion. my friend got the pipeline which was burger that resembled a chili burger. all of our burgers came with bottomless fries. i loved my burger and the two others in my party were raving about their burgers. the fries were good too. everything about this place was good :) i would definitely go back to islands! p.s parking is free inside the garage and its right next to the restaurant. in all we paid $40.

I hate complaining, but after tonight's service at Islands, I had no choice. This was our third time to eat here and the first two times were for lunch, and this last time was for a late dinner. The only reason I was keeping track of time was because we had movie tickets. We had 1hr 1/2 to eat a couple of burgers. That's plenty of time, right?...Wrong! We arrived at 9:10pm and even though they close at 10pm, we deserved to receive good service no matter what. The hostess seats us right away at the table next to the hostess stand. Its a Tuesday night and there were only a few tables occupied. We waited for 5min until our waitress came up to our table to tell us she'll be right back. By then, we were ready to order. We ordered our soft drinks and three burgers. It took about 10min to get our soft drinks which was absurd since the fountain machine was three tables down. Then it took 27min to get our three burgers! Really? Wow! Since it wasn't busy and nothing going on, you tend to watch what the waiters are doing for entertainment. We watch our waitress carry our food around as she drops off checks to her other two tables, around and around she goes. By the time she delivered our food, my fries were dry and my bun was cold! We finished our meal and asked for the check. Our waitress took 12min until I had to walk to the bar and ask the bartender if he could get us our check. By this time, I was annoyed. I'm usually very nice and patient, but this was ridiculous! She came over and apologized saying another table kept talking to her and wouldn't stop, even though we saw her chatting it up with the other waitresses. I've never left a tip less than 20%, but tonight, it wasn't deserved. Working in the restaurant industry myself, I will definitely make sure I'm on top of my game every time I wait on someone. Its not fair to the customers. I left with a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be coming back. Thanks Bryce at the bar for your attentiveness! To the waitress who waited on us, learn your customer service basics because their way off.

now what can i say that hasnt been said.. classic american/hawaiian style grub.. yummy cocktails (however not alot of bang for your buck) i LOVE the new menu business they have going on.. endless fries mmm.. and healthy options. i dig it BIG TIME.. i get the spicy pepper encrusted veggie burger and its yumm with chipotle sauce and spicy onion strings.. mm also used to be a slave for the yaki tacos.. but now they have a veggie taco that is good and a healthy option so :D easy parking all over and rarely crowded unless its like a friday at 8pm or after a high school event haha

I normally like Islands, but my girlfriend found small rocks in her fries, and her chicken sandwich had a bone in it. These two things, (while I thank the management for the free dessert) was enough to set my girlfriend off for the rest of the day. We were suppose to goto a movie, but that quickly changed as she just wanted to go home. The rest of the day was pretty much ruined because of our experience at Islands. I could only wish we went somewhere else that day, and im sure she will never want to go back.. but I don't really blame her. I will return, just maybe not to this location.

  • Stephy S.

Hey it's an Island's people, it's not like the hoity-toity place you get all gussied up for. It's the place you go before you catch a flick at the AMC or when your shophour(that's lunch time for girls) goes a bit late and you need to be in n out(no other burger pun intended) in a rather quickie time frame. One thing I will say about Island's is that 9 times out of 10, you'll get a burger that tastes just like it did the last time you went and when that burger happens to be smothered in cheese and mushrooms, puhhlease, who can complain. Also, if you are feeling rather heart attacky and indulgent, spring for the cheese fries with the ranch dressing! Sinful at it's finest And yeah, I pretty much just gained 10 pounds writing that. Oof :)

  • Meg S.

I work near here and have gone there several times, and do not eat there any longer. After a hair was found IN my burger, I was done, done, done. Not to mention, service is often slow, fries are hard and dry and a few weeks after I stopped eating there, a co-worker of mine had gone there and found a roach, albeit a dead one, in his salad. If I want a good burger, I'll go 2 doors down now to Fuddrucker's. Blegh!

    (1)
  • Carlo C.

A bit more crowded than the Islands in Glendale but service and food is just as good. It's not really much of a bar usually kind a quiet bar scene but it's a good place to bring friends for some food and drinks and watch a game if you want more of a quiet setting.

  • Pumpkin B.

I hadn't eaten here in many many years and decided to give it another shot and I was in hamburger heaven!! I finished my burger and wanted another one immediately after. I didn't but it was so tasty I wanted another. Best burger in downtown Burbank!

  • Natalie W.

The first time I ate here I wasn't a big fan. I split a burger with someone and it didn't impress me too much. I probably would not have picked it as a place to eat again. Well one night I was out with a group of people and they picked Islands. I figured I can live with average taste and a little pricey burgers. I got to the table and was searching for something I may have missed last time and I found it. Endless chicken tortilla soup! It is like $6 and some change and it is DELICIOUS! I usually have two bowls at the restaurant and then take one home with me. Yes I said take one home with me. That is really cheap for great soup you can eat as much as you want then take some with you. I have to say I am a regular now. I just love that soup!

  • Joel D.

Their Tortilla soup is epic! Finally one in the Bay area! Great restaurant, for a chain

    (4)
  • Leah P.

Reasonable priced burgers and fries. To top it off they have the best tortilla soup! We go to them often because they cater to families. They have this good, yummy kona pie for dessert! If you have not tried it, you should! Also their burgers now come with fries!

    (5)
  • Claire K.

It's not BAD....it's just not GOOD. Fries are a la carte. Burgers are a little pricey for a chain restaurant considering that they don't come with anything. Also, given the island theme, none of the burgers have traditional toppings and they all seem sort of Hawaiian-esque--which isn't "my thing" for a burger. I don't know what everyone's talking about with all the rocks but that just sounds scary. All in all, I'd rather just go to In and Out.....

    (2)
  • Rilindo F.

Islands is great simply for the stuff they put on the burgers and the ambiance of the place. Where else can you get a burger with pineapple on it? Or tooth-pick thin fries? Or the cute waiteresses? :) Sadly, this place does not exists in Atlanta. :(

    (5)
  • T S.

I've been frequenting this one for a few years now, so can verify that parking is difficult 90% of the time, wait time for tables is typical, for the bar area, usually none, service is friendly & accommodating, but a bit slow, fries are definitely icky-greasy & over-salted (so order unsalted & salt to taste), no sweet potato fries available, tables have been left dirty & lack silverware, ketchup is always full, drinks are very well-made, women's bathroom smells like a giant bowl of crap every time, prices & portions seem to vary & last but not least, they tend to overcook the burgers if you let them. What'd I miss?

    (3)
  • Chris P.

My girlfriend and I eat here a lot. Their food is very good. Their happy hour is great... free chips and salsa, good beer on tap (they have seasonals to keep it fresh) and their appetizers are half off. Try their Wings, so far they're the best I have found in Burbank.

    (4)
  • Che'Ron Q.

I love Islands! I can never seem to finish my burger because they are so big, but they are sooooo goood! All the times I have been there the people were wonderful and the service was great! I love the Tiki decor all over and the tropical feel of the place! The only thing I would have to say is its a bit of a bummer that all the sides are seperate....so don't think because you ordered a burger you're getting the fries! The good part is that as big as the burger is you hardly have room for the fries...so if you order them its so much better to share!

    (5)
  • Sintiea S.

Oh man I used to go to islands like every weekend during my highschool days. Stick to the burgers and fries...get the cheese fries. Umm really not much to say about this place it's good ol burgers in a relaxed setting and good service. It's an Islands there's really not much more to say!

    (3)
  • Macelle A.

Hurray for the "turkey" hula burger, Sauted mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, swiss & mayo. Oh and get me an order of the fries with a side of honey mustard and ranch dressing, plus an arnold palmer and I'm all set. That is my all time favorite order at Islands, anywhere.

    (5)
  • Amy S.

When I want dependable bad-for-me-but-oh-so-tasty food, whether it be after a bad day at work or a hungover morning after a good night, Islands is there. Sure, their entrees are so-so but their appetizers are a dream come true. I'm with Stephy; get the fries with cheese and ranch dressing. Your heart and your expanding weight will hate you but you'll be too blissed out to care.

Had a late meal there 3-3-08 and it was very good. I have not eaten at an Islands since I moved here from Phoenix. I had a club roll and my other two friends had the burgers. We all agreed that it was a nice change from all of the other places out there that feed you a cooked frozen hockey puck. The cola-lime freeze thing was flavorful. The wait staff was very nice and seemed to like their job. The manager even came by to see if things were good. I think we will be going back.

i dont like burgers. but we just came here just for a quick bite. but GREAT SERVICE!! well at least my waitress was so nice! i loved my island fish tacos and the nacho fries and my strawb lemonade. i was so full and we walked out to our movie shoot em up wit a content smile.

Islands is one of those places that if you cant decide what to eat, then a good ol' Hawaiian burger, Island Fries, and a coke will hit the spot. Its just part of the the routine, you go to your other restaurants and when you've been to them all, you come back around and there is an Islands waiting for you. This is a casual dining place, no need to dress up or whatever. In some locations, there are even drive up ordering, where you can call ahead, park right in front and bring the food out to you.

Ive been to several different locations and the food is all good..side orders are a separate charge (fries don't come w/your burger) which sucks... I mostly like coming here for happy hour..the drinks aren't bad...this location isn't 5 stars because of the parking...

normally this place is great but is slowly going down the drain i have to say service is quick but not attentive. the food is ok on certain days i think it may be the cook but who know when who is cooking ...lol if you go pray the good cook is there because sum times you will end up with crap.... basically go somewhere else unless you super love islands and are new to hamburgers.

I was originally going to go to a different restaurant for dinner but it was pouring rain and I didn't have an umbrella in my car. Islands was next to a large covered parking lot and so we decided to change our plans last second and go here instead. We were seated immediately and we had our drinks in minutes. Our waitress was very patient and nice. Food was great, and the kids loved the atmosphere and videos playing on the tv with the surfers and snowboarders.

Went there a week ago. I ordered a Mushroom Burger and found hair in the meat. I told the waiter about it and offered to get me another one. The owner came by and asked what happened and left. Couldn't enjoy my burger after getting it. Got my bill and didn't get a discount or anything for my burger. NEVER GOING HERE EVER AGAIN. Lost my service and all of my friends

Great service! Always attentive, on top of their game :-) Lovee their Wiqui Waqui Salad...they're a bit pricey for other menu items (ex: salads, tacos, chicken bowls, desserts, ect.) but well worth it for their Gourmet Burgers, range price is $7-11 depending on what type of burger you're getting, but on the plus side you get endless fries, YUMMY! The place itself is very nice, very "Hawaiian" themed.

Best Hamburger i've had in years. This place really has one of those atmospheres that keeps you coming back. The Service given at the burbank location is superior, and the staff is always up for a nice conversation. I highly suggest checking this place out at happy hour. Islands doesn't disappoint.

I've always been a big Islands fan! I used to walk to this location on Fridays after school with my friends from Burroughs High. Good freakin times! Now I bring my bf here every so often. He tried it for the first time with me a few years when we first got together, he's originally from Virginia so he had no idea of this place, but now he loves it! Let me start off by saying how much I adore their bottomless fries! Their signature seasoning to sprinkle (or pour like I do hehe) right on top of these delicious fries is just YUM! Their burgers are huge & tasty, my bf loves these suckers. I also really enjoyed their fish tacos, those things had so much flavor, my oh my! BUT, I'm gonna have to say my all time favorite is their Shorebird Chicken Sandwich with avocado and bacon....Holy moly is this thing amazing! It's just perfect. Beer is great, nice happy hour. Pina Coladas are perfect. Bartenders/staff are friendly and attentive! Great location!

besides the fact everything tastes delicious when your hungry... Service is excellent. I really appreciate as a pescatarian, their veggie patties. You can order any burger and substitute the meat no charge, AWESOME! I had the kilaeau... Even better it actually tastes like a normal burger, a delicious normal tasting burger not that black bean/cardboard taste. My friends and I sat at the bar since we were catching a movie soon after we didn't get a bar tender right away (on break maybe?} but our drinks were over poured by the girl who did make them... Not complaining! When the bar tender came back she really made sure we were satisfied with our drinks even offered to re do any of them... Of course we were content with the strong over poured drinks. Had one more drink, rusty anchor, and bounced. Good eats good service.

Whats better than burgers for lunch ? Burgers paid for with a gift card for lunch of course!! Came here the other day, Can't say I'm a huge islands fan as this was only my second time here. Service was attentive. Food came out hot and was good. I had the Kahlua burger with fries. It was nice and could best be described as "peppery". The boyfriend had a drink with quite a kick to it. A little bit expensive - even with the giftcard. But a nice treat.

I have been craving a burger for SOOO long..but not the in & out portion burgers( which is still love), but the ones that you cant hold with one hand... So my boyfriend took me to this place. Loved the atmosphere. It was so friendly, starting with with the hostess down to the server. The server was really helpful when i asked to help me choose the best burger. The food came out fast, and I got my dream burger.... it was SO GOOD.... and you get endless fries... AWESOME.

Had never been here before, but coming from Hawaii, my cousin recommended it. It was very cute and Hawaii - ish. :) I felt right at home and not just because of the ambience, but because of the extremely kind staff. They were friendly, jokers and although we stayed well over the time we should have, they never made us feel rushed or pushed to leave. The restaurant was busy, but seemed pretty well maintained and clean. The food was different. I had the chicken bowel, with brown rice, veggies, chicken and pineapple. Wish I had added extra pineapple. The meal was a little dry, but decent. Thought it was a fun place and would go again :)

I really, really, like Islands. I have tried just about everything on their menu. There is something about the ambiance. Maybe it's the birds in the trees hovering high above. I was so sad to see the one in Encino close. So this is the next closest one. I think there is this one, the one in Woodland Hills, and Porter Ranch. You can't go wrong with their chicken teriyaki tacos. I love them it took me forever to break my habit and try something new. Strawberry lemonade. Oh dear I can drink that like it's water. Dessert eh.. I would opt for another place that puts more effort into their desserts. Islands prides itself on its burgers and cheese fries so we will keep it at that.

I'll admit it. I love Islands. They have yuuuuuuuuuuumy burgers and sammies with endless fries, onion rings (not endless), or actually really DELISH veggies as well. I love their teriyaki-inspired sandwiches with pineapple. Those are 100% my favorite. But every sandwich/burger is freakin' awesome, in my opinion. I haven't had one that I didn't like. The prices are also super right, and I LOVE their cool environment. I also like that you can get mini desserts, and even order online for convenient pickup (I think they even have curbside). Parking can be a bit of a drag in the huuuge lot, but there's always room since it is literally a ginormous garage. The waiters are generally efficient and nice, although they sometimes forget to quickly bring some ranch for your fries. Nom. ;)

Clean location and attentive servers. The food came out quick. I got the nalu nalu burger which came with bottomless fries. The burger was pretty good and HUGE! The bun was a little dry. The fries were good. Medium cut fries that were very crispy.

I always have a great experience here. The food is great and I think this location is the best Islands locations around.

This Islands location is a great go-to for lunch, especially during the week if you work in the Burbank area. Service is quick, and there is never a wait; I've been many times during the week and never once has this restaurant been crowded during the week for lunch. They have great lunch menu items and pricing is totally doable. I've had everything from hamburgers to salads here, and have never walked away feeling unsatisfied. They also have mini desserts that are perfect portion-wise for a mid-day treat. Most of the servers are very friendly here, and prompt. My ONLY gripe with this type of restaurant (this type meaning similar to chains like Red Robin, Chili's and T.G.I. Friday's) is that I think the servers are in a conspiracy to NEVER take empty glasses away from the table! They bring you drinks non-stop (or at least, they should without you running empty), but unless you say something, you will be up to your eyeballs in empty steins before you know it. I've found the best way to handle this is to put all empty cups at the extreme edge of the table so the server HAS to see them and take them away; otherwise, forget it. Mountain-O-cups aside, Islands is definitely a great quick stop restaurant and a favorite of mine for a decent lunch that doesn't feel rushed or too relaxed in the middle of the day.

Just took a friend to Islands for the first time. And happy to say it was a great experience. The food was good. The service was fantastic. Courtesy and kindness was in good supply. Our server Liz Rodriguez was perfect with great suggestions and attention to detail with all our table needs. Another great time at Islands

I believe a restaurant is only as good as the people who run it. That being said, the GM Jeff was amazing! We brought our baby with us and he immediately gave us a sling for his car seat and had some great advice! The food was awesome. Good to know there's people that truly care

OMG .. i love islands :) I've been coming to this exact location for years!! So long that I used to make orders from the kids menu (I'm 24 now). Never disappoints! Plus the theme is so cute. It's very "islandly" they have these statue kind of birds everywhere, fake bushes or trees, surf videos playing on the tvs, and the waiters are wearing shorts and a hawaiian shirt. For the appetizer I would either get chicken tenders, cheese fries, or nachos (without meat) all of them are amazing. After, without a doubt you must order a burger! I always get a Big Wave which I think is the most popular. It's such a simple burger but wow it tastes so good! Not to mention, it comes with endless fries.. I even got my extremely picky boyfriend to try it and he loves it now :D Also their tortilla soup is bomb, it's better than any I have tried before, even at mexican restaurants. The staff is also very friendly. Not to mention the parking is beyond easy. I prefer this location over the one in Glendale. If you have never had an Islands burger you are missing out, drop whatever you are doing and go now!

The food was great, thanks to the bad service....our waitress forgot to include our drinks on our tab. I found it a bit odd that our waitress was drinking a beer across from us at the bar. I don't know if she was on her break or clocking out but she was still wearing her work clothes. I will be back, but not to this location. it's too unorganized. great food, unprofessional employees

I love Islands! I've been coming for years. I first started going when I lived in Redondo Beach so I went to the South Bay locations. Now I'm in the valley for about 9yrs and I've been to several locations but mostly this one. I went today actually. I love that they now made their fries and onion rings "endless". One thing I didn't like back in the day was that the burgers where $7-$10 for just the burger. You had to order the basket of fries separate. Glad they included them with the burgers. I have to say, I haven't had a beef burger from there in FOREVER. Why? Because every time I go, I HAVE TO have the "Sandpiper" (grilled chicken sandwich with sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese) SO. GOOD!! If you haven't tried it, it's a MUST! The waitresses wearing the shorty shorts is an added bonus. It's not a 5 stars because my fiancé once ordered their fish tacos and they were pretty gross. Particularly the tortilla. They looked and tasted like store bought tortillas. Even worse, they weren't even heated. The tortillas looked, felt, tasted like they literally took the tortillas out of the package and stuck fried fish in them. Avoid those. Other than that, I love it.

Was here on May 25th. Great service, was fast, The Hawaiian burgers were delicious and well done just the way my family and I like it. Son had the lil, tiki tenders which were also good. Other than that we had a great time.

Good service and good food. I have been going to many islands for years and I have to say each place has had good service and food. I know it's a chain but you know how some places say they are the same but for some odd reason the food tastes different depending on the location. I am a huge fan of the hula with veggie patty and wheat bun. Now that they have the endless fries with any burger it makes it even more of a winner. I can always depend on Islands to have good food and service. If you are looking for the "gourmet" burger where you want to have it YOUR way, then the counter is for you. Islands is just simple, good burgers their way. Of course you can still tweak the burgers a little but not "custom" like the Counter. I am still a fan of Islands!

Pros: - All their burgers can be made Vegetarian. - The burgers are quite flavorful. - Islands fries are awesome. Cons: - None actually. I work in Burbank but I don't visit it too often for lunch because the portions are very heavy for workday lunch.

Went to celebrate my daughters 17 birthday tonight .... Let me tell you they were so accommodating we had a party of 14. I have been here before and like it but I'm so thankful that they were cool about separate checks and they kept bringing us refills on our soda and fries! Today I ordered the veggie tacos that hit the spot !!! I certainly was pleased with our waitress

I love coming here! They have an excellent lunch menu. Its simple, fresh, and awesome prices. I really enjoyed my Burbank experience. The parking is fairly easy. I had the Yaki tacos which were delicious. I was so surprised it was just chicken because it had such a unique flavor. I suggest maybe only the 2 tacos they were pretty big. I also enjoyed a Blue Moon w oranges even tho their orange slices are kinda rinky dinky.

Great burgers and bottomless fries. The Burbank location has the most excellent service of all. When our fries were almost empty, another basket appeared; when our (ice tea and sodas) we almost empty, fresh ones appeared. We couldn't have asked for better service. We will be back.

Being in Downtown Burbank, i was surprised at how easy it was to find parking. This Island's is located in front of a big parking structure. I could never get my hands on why people love Island so much. I mean, its kinda pricey for some mediocre burger and fries. I know they offer bottomless fries, its not tasty enough for me to ask for 2nds. IMO, Red Robins, much better burger and steak seasoned fries, yummy. Maybe its the ambiance and theme of Island's that makes people want to come here. But service here is great, the bartender was real friendly and helpful. Didnt know they had their own brew of beer. It was light and refreshing. If you like that kind of beer, definitely worth a try. I was there during happy hour, it the big mug was $6. Didnt really felt like happy hour paying $6 for beer, then again, it was a big mug I suppose. 3 stars, for good service and theme. Overrated, food is whatever, kinda spendy, even during happy hour.

I have fond memories of coming to Island's in Burbank as a teenager after going to the AMC theaters next door, with my friends. We usually ordered their nachos, cheddar fries, and sometimes a burger, if we had enough money. Not much has changed since then. Still great food, especially their cheddar fries, which I think is one of the best around. Unfortunately, I cannot come here often as their food is ridiculously packed with calories, fat, and carbs. As far as their prices, I would say they are reasonable considering what you'll pay at other joints. Definitely worth a visit if you haven't already. Oh for try the cheddar fries.

May I recommend the chicken tortilla soup? It's good, spicy and comes out fast when you're in a hurry to get a good bite. Kids love this place so it makes for a nice dinner night. I always order the cheese fries and soup. Might split a sandwich with the wife on occasion.

I know that I say this a lot about most of the places I go to, but I really do love this place! I order the sunset burger. It's not on the menu anymore, but they will still make it for you. The atmosphere is awesome and seeing the girls in they're short shorts ain't bad either.

Me and my sister come here whenever we have a craving for their cheese fries: YUM! Our most recent visit was definitely on a crazy night: -it was rowdy and crowded (it was a payday Friday, there was a Laker game on, AND it was a full moon outside) -there were 2 random guys out on the patio who were apparently causing trouble cuz Burbank PD arrived, arrested them and walked them through the restaurant in handcuffs for all of us to see. Me and my sister luckily found a table at the bar and avoided the long wait for a regular table. Our server came right over. He was friendly and funny, although he did deliver some horrible news: Islands no longer serves honey mustard sauce or thousand island dressings AND they got rid of their pork carnitas tacos. Me and my sister have a ritual whenever we got to Islands: order cheese fries with an embarrassing amount of ranch and honey mustard sauce on the side. When we were told the unfortunate news, our server also agreed that other customers have had the same reaction (eyes bulge out, nearly choking when told the dressings are gone along with the carnitas). He even suggested we write Islands directly to bring it all back. Anyway the rest of the night was so-so. Our friendly and funny server was MIA as soon as we got our food order. I don't mind the food, it's actually pretty good BUT pricey: $8 for the cheese fries?! And service can be a hit of miss. Although, I did learn 1 useful tip while eating at the bar: HAPPY HOUR includes their cheese fries for less than $4! At that price I can have 2 orders of cheese fries! :)

Always a good meal. Endless fries with their secret ingredient seasoning salt. Can't go wrong with the toucan or yaki. Always friendly staff. Hardly ever a wait and surf videos on the screens. Don't forget about all the yummy desserts.

It's expensive for what it is, but I went to this place all the time as a kid and I still do. The fries are great and they actually have decent food specials for lunch and happy hour, but it is just another Islands.

Reliable burgers and fries. Decent spot for a weekday lunch. The last two times I've been the servers have been ON IT with refilling my drink, and I've got a lot of respect for that because I'm a drinker, and my diet coke is perpetually empty. Parking in the ginormous next door structure is gloriously free.

First time at this Islands being that the one I use to go too in the valley is closed.. Any who.. came in on a Tuesday night with my brother was greeted and seated fairly quick. Our waitress then popped up asked we wanted to drink and we ordered at that time because her lack of presence gave us that much time. While I was ordering I asked for a basket of fries I didn't read in the menu where it states that your burger includes fries, she let me know, cool! We waited noticed that there is soooo many kids in this restaurant, they were all over throwing toys on the floor, standing on the booths looking over our table, just being loud all around.. It was annoying -_- !! We got our food and yeah the fries were like 10 on each plate, seriously?!? Aren't they endless fries?!?! The server leaves before we could ask him for ketchup, the bottle on our table was empty and we were going to ask for ranch.... So we continued eating our meal in hopes to see the waitress pop up somewhere in our area but she didn't.. She finally did asked her for the damn ketchup and ranch but there was really no point my brother had finished and i was too.. We asked her for fries ughh why did I bother o_O ... Whatever waited for the bill went to the restroom.. OMGee gross filthy just plain wrong!!!!! Paid, got up and left... nope I don't want to come back!

I have to give Islands 4 stars just for the fries. I like my fries crispy and somewhat chunky...but the most important part is the crispy part. The service here is pretty good. It's a casual environment with TVs all over the place. If the tv is not repetitively showing someone surfing, they show some sports on it.. There was a hockey game and a basketball game playing in the background. They are also good for their chocolate lava...from their website "Fudge brownie, topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, roasted almonds & a cherry". Although, my chocolate lava didn't have a cherry, it was fine by me. The brownie was still warm, hence the melting vanilla ice cream in the picture I included. I knew I was going to eat the fries and chocolate lava so I figured I'd eat "healthier". I had the wiqui waqui bbq chicken salad, which according to their website included "Lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar & jack cheeses, red onion & jicama, tossed w/ranch dressing & topped w/grilled & chilled chicken breast, tortilla strips, bbq sauce & scallions". It was pretty good. It's comparable to the salad at CPK. I think I like the CPK one just a little better. I also had their strawberry lemonade which was pretty good.

First off, staff very nice, friendly welcoming. No problems. For service 4/5. Food 1/5. Bland, boring...need to totally revamp menus. Kids mac and cheese looked like it was straight out of the packet. My son didn't like it. I got the Chinese salad or something....on a par with something premixed on supermarket shelf. My wife got a burger....not as good as Wendys. I just don't get the appeal of this chain. Somewhere to watch sports I'm guessing.

LOVE Islands. I love the burgers - especially the hawaiian pinapple, swiss and terriyaki... yum! Love the tacos... used to get the chicken ones minus the chicken when I was a vegetarian. but I HATE the calories. How is ONE burger more calories than you should eat in a day? WTF? No wonder we have an obesity epidemic. It's delicious... if you haven't eaten anything else all day, but 1500 calories for a burger is ridiculous. SOOO SOOO good... but indulge sporadically or see the results on your waistline. The other day I had a big lunch and when hubby took me out to dinner, I attempted to get something "light".. got the bikini beach veggie tacos. ICK! even for a vegetarian these were gross. It's a bunch of random vegetables thrown onto a tortilla with melted cheese. It's pretty bland and pretty disgusting. I never sent food back, but when I did, the waiter told me he didn't blame me and that everyone hates them. So why serve them? They could do with some sauce, in my opinion, or sautee the veggies together to meld the flavor instead of throwing one random mushroom slice, a bell pepper, some onions and black beans into a tortilla. Gross. Get something else. Indulge and go for one of the delicious burgers instead. 2 stars for the calorie content and nothing else. I'd give 5 stars for the taste, atmosphere and the service... but 1500 calories for a burger? Holy tap-dancing-christ! Bonus points for bitchen happy hour and good beer selection

The food here is decent. They serve mostly American food from what I see on the menu and they have some pretty good burgers. They have endless fries but it is nothing to die for. The batch of fries that I received were crispy and tasted burnt. I order another batch and it was the same so I will not recommend the fries. Everything else was good and so was the service, however, there are many other places to choose from in the vicinity.

    (3)
  • Ben W.

It's an Islands. You've been to Islands, right? It's slightly overpriced American fare, but damn their burgers are good. I like the ambience here, though. I sat at the bar and watched surfing stock footage while eating my burger and occasionally conversing with the bartender who looked like he could kick my ass but was friendly despite that fact.

food was average, service was horrible. Very rarely saw our server. Ordered the "endless tortilla soup". Not once did the server come by to see if I wanted more. Couldn't eat it at first as it was served without a spoon.

  • Magua R.

Horrible. I ordered the catch of the day, Mahi-mahi, and I was shocked at how bad the food was. They should have paid me $12.00 to eat that thing. What a waste of money. Frozen veggies that obviously came in a packet and microwaved for 40 seconds and placed on a plate right next to a bowl of dried-up leftover rice from the day before. I'm beyond disappointed. The fries were good. Extremely salty, so all you folks with high-blood pressure better watch your sodium intake if you ever decide to eat here. Better yet, don't ever eat here. Just pick up some dried-up dog sh*t on San Fernando Blvd. and save yourself $12.00 for a meal.

Island's burgers are the best. Not only do they have burgers they have other things like tacos and soups. Depending on what you get, the price is fair. Did I tell you that they have free refills on french fries? I like eating here because they have this delicious chicken sandwich. If you like burgers, you will like this place.

A friend and I met in Burbank to go to the movies, but missed the start time. We decided to have a bite to eat and wandered into Island right at the end of happy hour. We sat at the bar and had a great time. We can so no to endless fries. Not me. We also had sliders that were great with the crispy onions. Quesadilla that was enjoyable. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and pretty much just awesome. Islands is a chain and the food is along the same lines as a chili's or applebee's. The service always makes the difference for me and our bartender made Island's a winner.

Nice atmosphere, great service and okay food. The place is really well decorated to theme. The hostess got us a table right away and introduced us to our server. She got all our orders right and checked up on us from time to time. The burger was good, no complains but I was not amazed. It was a pretty large burger. It came with bottomless fries and they were decent tasting fries....at first. I have no idea if they just stop caring after your first batch but my second helping was awful, no seasoning and moist. My friend pour his fries on my plate just to test this theory and asked for a third serving and they were just as bad. After your first order of fries just stop because bottomless is just a sale point. Onion rings were good but again nothing special. Over all we payed around 70.00 dollars for my party of five. Ill go again if I am near and craving a burger.

every time i come here my maui burger tastes different. the guac's taste is constantly changing. not too big of a deal since i'm a guac fan so i eat any kind of it, but also i'm not that fond of the fries. it always tastes like it's been fried in old oil. the fries are a 1 out of 5. not good at all. the waiters on the other hand are the best. really nice atmosphere

EKKK GREASY FOOD The food in this place taste like old frying oil, that has been reused for more than a month. And the waitress orders things that you didn't even ask for. BAD BAD NASTY FOOD

My wife took me here once in Pasadena and I remember it was good. There's one near our place in Burbank so we've gone there a couple of times, until I got sick from their salty food. Man... if you love sodium, this is the spot, son. Their KILAUEA burger literally is like opening a jar of crushed black pepper and throwing it at a beef patty. Dude, I lover burgers, but this one tasted really good at first, but then it was like eating crushed black pepper alone. I tried it twice just to make sure it wasn't me; well, it is too much for me to handle, unless you love eating black pepper like that, weirdo. Their torilla soup is really good. That's your stepping stone so you can have an excuse to go there and have a few drinks :) As well as their Spinach & Artichoke Dip. I'm sure half the stuff is good, I just don't like 5000 calories in one trip and get a sodium high ;-) Enjoy!

I have been a patron of Islands since i was a teenager, the majority of my visits have been to the Pasadena location (5 stars) but in recent times I've been visiting the Glendale locations (4 stars) and the Burbank location (3 stars). You may be asking if I've given the Establishment 4 stars as an average of all the locations, the answer is no. My review of the Burbank Islands garners 3 stars, except when we are fortunate enough to get ELIZABETH as our waitress. She has made everyone of our visits wonderful. I can safely say she has become a friend! Waitress Elizabeth (*****) 5 stars!!!! Squared! for those weak in math that's 25 stars... If your going to Islands for anything other than burger and fries turn around and go somewhere else. The Burgers whether it's beef or chicken are fantastic and the endless fries are good, I recommend the cheese fries. Add an order of Nachos with an icy cold drink and you may achieve Zen.

The ex introduced me to this restaurant this year, and I'm so glad he did. He talked about it during our last visit to Burbank the year before, but we finally got to return to Dwntwn Burbank and try it. Personally, I love the ambiance of the area itself. The energy is great, everything is convenient, and isn't too pretentious like some other shopping areas. The Restaurant is conveniently located near a parking garage, so parking isn't much of a problem if it isn't busy. The service was alright. Nothing to write about. I had to ask the hubbs to flag down our waitress for more water and a fry refill because she didn't come to ask if everything was OK. Perhaps it was busy, I dunno, I just find it inappropriate to not check back with tables. Burgers were great, I'm addicted, too bad there are no locations in Northern California. This is one place I'll definitely miss in SoCal

I love the vibe. It's such a nice place to dine. However, the wait to get a table is often around 30-40 minutes on busy nights and it often takes a quite a while to get your food once you've ordered. I like how they started giving endless fries with their big, delicious burgers (not sure when they started since I hadn't been here for a while). Their golden ale is pretty good, too.

i walked in this place struck a nerve in my heart and made me want to cry. The interior reminded me of my beloved spot in Vegas whose interior was almost duplicated. I SAID ALMOST. I've never been here and have been dying to try this place out. Alas, I think I came with high hopes. Hostess was a bit rude, the waitress was awesome, our food was whatever. We ordered the Maui and the Terriyaki burger (sauce on the side). Both were alright a bit greasy too.., even though something seemed to be missing... to make it special. The onion ring basket and fries.. sigh..nicely crisp and would've been awesome if they oil had not been bad. It was a beautiful golden brown color on both but once you bit into it, you can taste the sourness of the bad oil kicking in making you want to pour the ranch all over to kill it. Prices wasn't bad but for burgers I think I will stick with Granville. Sorry Islands, I gave you a try and learned my lesson. Dont need to teach me twice.

Very good hamburgers., very yummy in my tummy. They have unlimited fries with ranch and they are very delicious. I eat all burgers but my favorite is maui. grilled mushrooms, sweiss cheese, fatty goodness that is worth working out for. Go to islands now they have very good food

  • Michael S.

Was going to give them a 3 1/2 because, well, it's Islands lol. That's about as good as it would get out of me for the price and what not, but now that they have unlimited fries with ur burger...well, that's something I haven't seen anywhere. Islands, you just bought yourself a 4 star rating :P To those of you reading this review because you've never been... The burgers are plenty. They have a lot of different kinds, and all of them are really good burgers actually. They are all pretty filling and I'm a big guy so if you are smaller than 6'3, you will get full off of a burger and fries "especially since the fries are unlimited now." I will say it's well worth it to go out of your way to order cheese fries with bacon in them...good stuff. Also, their salads are rather good and big enough for two girls to share or one big guy like me to share if I'm being nice :) The wait time usually isn't going to be any more than 15 minutes, and the service is usually fairly good as well. If you are a first timer and looking for somewhere to sit down, talk about the movie you are about to see/just finished seeing, want a good burger and fries, in a rather clean environment, then this is your place :) I give Islands a 4 out of 5 stars.

Anyways good burgers , gr8 waitresses/waiters, good atmosphere ...LUV the place....

I was never disappointed by Islands...ever! I usually patron the Sherman Oaks site but while fiddle-faddling in Burbank, I did not hestitate on dining here! It has been awhile since I had the extreme pleasure of ingesting a good-tasting hamburger (or eating a hamburger for that matter) so when there was a "lite" lean turkey burger on the menu, I was pleased as punch. Sided with steamed veggies, the burger was flavorful and juicy. The broccoli was rather bitter but the carrots was very sweet. Service was above average; my server was perky and attentive as she checked on us a few times during our meal. Thumbs up! Pricing has gone up quite a bit. My turkey burger with a side of steamed veggies was nearly $9. New thing (well...to me that is): endless fries! Though I considered Island fries as one of the best, it was especially lubricious this time around Unfortunately endless fries meant endless grease... 3.5 stars.

Went in for lunch with a friend that works there on his day off. I chose to sit at the bar for two reasons. 1 to watch the game that was on and 2 was because the bar was empty. As we sit down my friend is informed that he will not get his employee discount if he sits at the bar. I asked for the manager to explain to him it was I who choose to sit at the bar not my friend. The manager (Drew) was rude and disrespectful asking me if I worked there and saying it has nothing to do with me. As I tried to explain that my friend shouldn't be punished if a paying costumer he's with wants to sit at the bar, Drew rudely interrupted me asking again if I worked there and then turned and walked away. If Drew hadn't been so rude and had an adult conversation with me I would have moved for the sake of my friend. Instead with management that treats costumers with disrespect I will never return to islands and I'll be sure to warn everyone of the rude management. Skip this place, there are other restaurants in that area that the staff will treat you with respect because they want your business.

Top spot for a burger. I love their burgers I come here often I like the fact that you can have all the fries you want hands down its just a good old burger joint 1 downside is the parking I allways park a light down and walk there but since its Burbank it's a good walk nice area.

We were in the Burbank Area today, and went downtown to the shopping district. After driving around looking for a place to eat, we found Islands. Parking was easy to find (since there is a parking garage next door). They sat us right away, and the ambiance was great. My husband had the half chicken dinner and I had the endless tortilla soup. Which was all very good. My only peeve for the dinner. Was anytime we needed our waitress she was MIA. The restaurant didnt have very many people. We finally got our bill, and it was wrong. So she finally came back around, so I can have her fixed the bill. They she was gone again for 15 mins. Really.....? I would go back for the food again and hope to get another waitress that was more attentive.

With In-N-Out just down the street it's hard to justify going to Islands, however, I still find it to be a welcome variation when the double double starts to get repetitive. Best burger on the menu is definitely the Kilauea. Always cooked just right at medium. The latest time around my girl and I got the new Island nachos (I think they were called) and it was a huge helping that filled us up even before the burger and fries came out. We devoured the mound of nacho chips, melted cheese, sour cream, guacamole, jalapeños, salsa, and carnitas! So delicious and filling! The service was very friendly, quick, and pleasant. Refills came up fast and often (I drink A LOT)! Very pleased with our latest visit! No real complaints except there are so many other options around that would easily replace a visit to island's in downtown burbank. I was torn between a 3 and 4 star rating. It's A-OK and I am a bit of a fan, but more just A-OK I think... A solid 3.5 stars is my final verdict!

This chain has gone downhill. I ordered a burger and the bun was drenched in butter. The food is very bland and I don't plan to go back.

A mainstay of downtown Burbank, Islands is a tropical-themed restaurant, serving up -- among other things -- tasty burgers and bottomless fries. I have been dining at this particular location for over 10 years now. As a kid, this was the spot where you could get a cheap bite to eat with your friends after a long day hanging out at the mall. Today unfortunately, the prices have come up some. They are serving up a variety of eats, from hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and soft tacos to rotisserie chicken, salads and wraps. Everything is pretty standard fair, but I give them four-stars for consistency. I always know exactly what I'm going to get and how it tastes, each and every time. As of a few years ago, Islands began serving unlimited french fries with their burgers -- definitely a plus! If you're still in the mood for dessert after your meal, the Kona Pie is truly a masterpiece. Service is usually upbeat and attentive. Since the restaurant is nestled amongst three parking structures, free parking is ample even during peak hours. 4-stars: Yay! I'm a fan.

Mediocre burgers. Islands brand beers only. Horrible fries. Why come here unless you're into chubby teens? It gets a token star for well placed tv's with sports/surfing to make the experience tolerable.

Came here for my birthday with 10 other friends and everyone ordered their food + a few appetizers to share. They took a little long to get our food but the lady was so nice about it so it was fine. Food was good, environment was good. Pretty long wait but it was a friday night and we had about 11 people so it's expected. Good experience overall.

I went here tonight for the first time in a couple years, and let me just say that this restaurant is still great! Food tasted good and service was prompt. I am glad that this place has not fallen the way so many others have this year. Burgers may seem rather pricey about about $10 each, but now you get unlimited fries with them. This especially works out great if you have someone to share them with! So the bottom line is that you do get your money's worth in the end. This has always been a popular place in Burbank and I have always heard people I know telling me they went here. Yet, I have never run into anybody I know here! Maybe the high walls between booths helps, and in a way I guess makes it easy to hide in such a popular place. In closing, I still highly recommend this particular Islands. It still has the great food, great service, and cute girls that it has always had in all of its years of existence. Check it out!

pretty good food and drinks. kind of pricey and the salsa just tastes like a can of tomato paste. the one thing that bothered me was my friend and i ordered drinks and the waiter didn't I.D us which is fine but then more then half way through our drinks he came back and he asked us if he could see our I.Ds and he "forgot to check" its like even if i was 13 i'm still half way through my drink. if you're going to I.D do it before you give me the alcohol and if you forget then your bad.

It's been years since I've been to Islands but after seeing Youth In Revolt, I needed a drink ( weird sex images won't leave my mind) so we where walking distance from the parking lot to Islands and as soon as we walked in the hostess said we're closing in 30mins, and Good Evening to you as well. Of course we got seated quickly and second time around our server said if you want to order dessert put in your order now cuz we're closing in 30mins.. huh? ya know think there closing soon! So we ordered our Rincon and Big Wave Burgers, I always stick with my tiki-ti tenders and a side of fries to share, I got a Mai-Tai which wasn't half bad, I think the bartender was screw it, it's closing time, and the BF got a 25oz Hef on Tap which looked nice and frosty, and my nephew had the ever so sweet Shirley Temple ( He likes that drink, he also loves Roy rogers) Food served in matter of seconds and we ain't in 20 mins flat, even with the staff mopping away. I guess the service could had been better had we not felt rushed, my only issue was a $ 50 bill for a party of 3. We should had just gone to In & Out!

I was new to the area and I was trying to watch the Heat/Celtics NBA basketball game. The surrounding places were packed to capacity and we were scrambling to find a place to watch the game. We stumbled upon ISLANDS and when we entered, the hockey game was on and I asked the guy if we could watch the Heat game and he said no problem and found us a booth to see the game. The food and service were EXCELLENT and I wouldn't mind coming here again.

Sliders and onion rings were great. Service.... Eghk. The girl was slow to service me. At first, I thought it was bc they were busy but then noticed that my bar tender/waitress was just busy flirting with a male customer. Great.

I love me some Islands cheese fries and a Hula Burger! YUMMMMMM!!!! I would have given it 5 stars but I think that you should be able to make the fries you get with the burger cheese fries as well. But the food is great... I always eat too much and never have room for Kona pie which is off the chain. I keep saying that one day I will go JUST for Kona Pie but then I end up getting the norm! lol

I don't know anything about Islands, except I'd never been after 2 years working in Burbank and occasionally driving past on my way to work. So, I go with a lady from the office (cause we had a free lunch voucher) and am pleased that I did. It's a well executed theme restaurant with a large selection of burgers and sandwiches with cute names. They aren't cheap, and don't come with fries, but order 1 bowl and it's enough for 3 people. I didn't like that they came pre-salted, but they were nearly as good as InNOut Burger's fries! I had a chicken Hula burger with all the bits. That came with Swiss cheese and mushrooms. Hmm umm! If we didn't have the voucher it would've been $25 for both of us including ice-teas. Pretty expense for lunch, but it was all nicely done.

There's not much to say except that this is a pretty good Burger chain ala Chilis. At least it tries to do something to differentiate the decor, but it comes across as the same thing. Still, for this type of experience, it's completely satisfactory. Their weekday lunch special of a burger, fries and a drink for 8 dollars is pretty reasonable. Service is usually swift. Oh, I tried the "northshore tacos" once. I wouldn't recommend it. Bland.

My girlfriend and I have been eating here for several years. The food is usually pretty well presented and punctual. I have only been disappointed a few times with the service and or quality of the food. I would say that out of all the places we go in Burbank on a very regular basis Islands would be one of the best and is our most frequent stop. We know what we are getting and generally can sit down upon walk-in. There are a couple of lack-lust waitresses / waiters but overall the service is pretty good. They greet you well, have knowledge of the food and beverages, have good, relevant opinions, bring the food on time, are pretty attentive to needs like napkins and sauces and bring the check in a timely manner. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that every time we have come after 8PM we have gotten slow service and poor food. Either it comes out cold or the fries are 400% overcooked. I would not go in after 8PM ever again for that reason.

  • Serop B.

We had a group of 8 and we asked if they would put the lakers game for us and they said they would, so we all waited half an hour and were seated next to a tv that someone was watching the football game on and they wouldn't change the channel an told us to wait more for another table, so we wasted half of the game at this stupid place and didn't get to see the game.

Same ol same ol. I've been to a couple of 'Islands' and it's really nothing special. In fact I don't care for their shitty food. It's just another chain that follows the applebees formula. But this location in particular blows. I ate here once and ordered a burger. When I asked for veggies instead of fries I got looked at like I was a mad man. There was no silverware on the table and when I asked for some it took about 20 minutes to get a fork. A shitty excuse for a restaurant and an even shittier excuse for a waitress... whoever she was.

I was in the Burbank Area for business when the sales manager decided to stop off at Islands for Lunch. Just as the name suggest, Islands is a tropical themed Burger Spot, think Gilligan's Islands meet Fudruckers. They have a a pretty good size menu from everything from Burgers, Fish Tacos, Salads, and Sandwiches. Prices here are reasonable. You're pretty much looking at under $10 for most of their burger and sandwich options. They do run a week time lunch special that's burgers, fries, and a drink for about $9. It was simple for me and got their basic cheeseburger combo on wheat and the sales manager for the chicken sandwich and salad. The service here was fast and we got our burgers. I have to say it was a good size burger. Cook to medium well (the way I like it) it was pretty juicy. The fries here are fresh cut and they do a good job of seasoning. The Sales Manager seemed to like his meal and we both finished. We were also discussing business and had papers out so the waiter was there to clean up our stuff but wasn't overly push. Parking here can be a bit of a pain but it's within walking distance of 2 different public parking garages so that wasn't too bad. As a result, it wasn't bad. Not a place I would drive out of my way to get to, but would definitely come back if I wanted a burger and in the area. Solid place to get a burger and fries and Islands gets a solid 3 star rating.

I worked at this Islands during the summer of 2004 while I was also interning at Fox Sports West in downtown LA. Usually I come away not liking most places that I work for and while I wouldn't say I loved this place, I certainly enjoyed it enough to still want to go back whenever I am in California and need a quick burger fix after my obligatory In-and-Out run. Very few burgers I've ever tasted can compare to the Hula burger. A delicious, yet simple combo of sauteed mushrooms, tomato, lettuce and mayo. Nothing crazy, just a solid mushroom burger. The main reason this place doesn't get more stars is that, beyond that burger, in my opinion, there's just not a lot of great food on the menu. The fish tacos are good but nothing special and in LA you can get the same or better at almost any other restaurant. Really, this is just a good place to go to if you need to kill some time before seeing a movie at the giant theater a few blocks away. Or, you're sick of Chilis...

Sweet Potato Fries!! that's what it's all about. The Island burgers are all great, but the sweet potato fries are the bomb. The regular fries are also damn tasty. If you're craving something other than the burgers, you may want to try the endless bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Although Islands is a chain, every Islands seems to have a bit of it's own flavor and while the Burbank Islands is great, it's not as good as the Pasadena or South Bay locations.

Yes, a burger I don't like. I have been eating burgers around the world and across the country, so burger chains don't usually impress me. This one definitely didn't impress me. Actually, I almost threw up. There is something about teriyaki sauce and pineapple that doesn't mix with a bun and ground beef. I almost gagged. Here's the kicker, they are all "island" burgers, so very strange toppings on those burgers. So here it is. I didn't finish it. I couldn't finish it. I haven't went back to Islands for about six years because of those experiences. Everytime I went, it didn't get any better. The burgers are not cheap, and they don't come with fries. I rather go to Red Robin for unlimited fries and a more standard burger. Also, I didn't like the fries. Not a fan.

My friends love Islands so I have tried it many, many times. Yet, each time I try it, I like it less and less. The burgers are pricey, yet they don't have a good taste within the burger. I get that they have different kinds of styles to add items on your burger; but at the end of the day, I eat a burger for their burger. Their burger tastes no different from a frozen burger you get at the grocery store. Mind you, when you add all the fixins, you can hide the bland taste of each burger; and that's why people go back. Because I wasn't a fan of their burger, I tried their nachos and their tacos - both unimpressive. The cheese fries were decent, but not worth the heart attack that you'll have on your way to your car. I'm all for eating unhealthy foods, but the taste must justify the artery clog; otherwise, I might as eat a salad. The only bright spot is their tortilla soup which is really good. The staff are okay; impatient with big groups but friendly otherwise.

I like to come to this Islands near my office because of the lunch specials (select entrees, plus drink, for $7.95 -- comes to an even $10 with tax and tip) or their happy hour specials (free tortilla chips and salsa, 1/2 prices appetizers). Lunch specials are 11a-4p and happy hour is typical 4p-7p. My only complaint is that, when you get refills of the chips, they tend to be a bit too salty. Staff is courteous and the bar staff is a little extra friendly. Many cute waitresses, too (I know that's important for some of you, as it is for me). One of them joked around with me about throwing a piece of ice over my shoulder.

I had a HORRIBLE experience at this restaurant last night. My husband and I arrived here after leaving our car dealership. We walked in, he and I both in our comfy clothes, and were greeted by a friendly hostess. We sat down and waited for our names to be called. The host who walked us to our tables sat us near the soda machines. Please note, that I am trying my best to be descriptive because I WANT MY WAITER TO READ THIS. He took our orders, and before we knew what was going on- he took off! Yes, he left. We were dumbfounded and left wondering if this was his way of making an exit after taking orders, or if he simply did not want to serve us. My husband, who has never been to Island's, simply asked him if the fries were indeed "endless." As he responded to this question, I felt that he was growing restless of our ignorance in regards to their menu. I don't know what it was. Was it because we looked poor? Cheap? Asian? Needy? We always smiled, said our thank-yous, and remained extremely polite in hopes that he would treat us better. Needless to say, by the end of our meal I was fed up. He made a conscious effort to glide past us, ask all the other tables how their meals were going, whether they'd like refills on their drinks or fries, yet he never bothered to check in on us. I felt discriminated and disgusted. I left a 20% tip not because I want to, but to show him that despite the stereotyping we are better than he thinks we are. My husband and I have never left anything less, regardless of whatever service we receive. That isn't to say, we aren't extremely disappointed in our dinner. Sorry, islands. We will never be coming back. And rest assured, bad news by word of mouth is the fastest way to ruin a business.

Oh my dear Islands, what happened to you? I used to always hang out there with my friends in high school and I even spent my 21st birthday there. After not going there for a little over a year my husband and some friends of ours went there for diner and I was sadly disappointed. The whole drive over there my mouth was salivating as I thought of my precious Yaki tacos only to bite into chewy chicken that was drowned in teriyaki syrup. The drinks are good but the service was just meh. I might go back and give it another shot just because I have such fond memories there.

I will admit up front that I'm probably not the best person to ask for a review of Islands. I'm kind of a snob, and as a result I don't like chains. It does not entice me that I can order the same thing at any of their however-many locations. Just the same, I ate here last night and in so doing formed an opinion. The food is not spectacular. One of my many eccentric mannerisms is that as long as there are french fries in front of me I will continue to eat them, with no consideration for how full I might be. This habit came to an abrupt halt when I could not discern nibbling at potatoes from spooning down salt. And my veggie burger was unexceptional at best. Typically I prefer not to pay $10 for a Gardenburger, as I know their market value. I do have to give credit for the service. That is where Islands scores high marks. The wait staff were very attentive and very friendly, which is always good news. I guess that's the thing that chains tend to do right.

I think this islands is ok, i like the location of it better then the one in Glendale, not a fan of the whole pineapples in burgers (weird because i love Hawaiian pizzas) but i do love the Mushroom Swiss Burger (forgot the name on the menu) cheese fries are also really good my gf gets those all the time. Islands...cant be more then a 3 star can it? TFR

It's been a while since I've tried a burger from here. I remember how big the burgers were, and how generous they were with their fries. I ordered the Bluenami (blue cheese dressing) Burger, with endless fries. It was okay, but it was nothing special. I think the burgers got smaller. Anyways, next time I want a burger, I'll just go to The Habit or In N Out. Probably a better place to hang out, than to enjoy a nice burger.

Came in for lunch today, sat @ the bar. Parking can be a headache if you go at a busy time. Ordered the half caesar salad & water instead of my usual fish tacos. It wasn't bad as far as taste but $9 for half a salad is a little much. I can get the same salad, twice the size for under $5 @ Portos. Still looking for a good deal for my money here.

I've been to Islands in Burbank a few times now. As it does have a fun atmosphere and good fries, I haven't experienced anything extremely great about this place. It seems as if it's just a basic jack of all trades kind of restaurant, having just decent food. Be it tacos, salads or burgers. Everything is just ok- nothing really stands out. Although this restaurant is decent, there are many surrounding places in the area that would be a much better choice.

Last time I was here I got wet rag thrown on me...it was disgusting. I received a less than heart-felt apology by someone who said she was the manager. The fact that it even happened (employees were goofing around) shows what kind of management they have. Sorry I defended this place, oh well.

I am very particular when i go out and eat. I like the fact that service is available and will easily get turned off when the service is not up to standards. Islands is a hit and miss with service. Their food selection is ok, the burgers are mediocre and for the people that have commented below complaining that the burgers do not come with fries, they do now. That is why when I do go to islands I like to sit at the bar. Service is a lot better there. I specially go for happy hour, their appetizers are 50% off and the alcohol beverages are just a buck off. It is fun to splurge on the variety of appetizers at a very low cost. Buffalo wings are what gets me going back, during happy hour they are about $5 and you get 10 pieces. Happy hour runs between 4p-7p and in my opinion is very worth it. Especially at the Burbank location where you will find great friendly bartenders such as Bryce, Angela, and Paolo. One more thing. The now off menu item "Protein Platter" is really good and worth the price of a burger. If you are interested you can get either two burger patties with a slice of cheese and strips of bacon on top or two fillets of chicken with sauteed mushrooms on top with a quarter cut head of lettuce, and tomatoes. If you really like you can switch things up and get a burger patty and a chicken fillet.

The restaurant has (get this) an island them. No, really - it's true! Birds of Paradise decorate the outside of the establishment. Inside, the workers wear Hawaiian shirts and surfing memorabilia adorn the walls. The menu contains Kahuna, Wave and Pipeline references. Surf's up dude! Jean and I have decided to start the year off eating a little (a lot) better than usual. We are currently observing South Beach Phase 1, and we are doing quite well. So, we had to find something that fit into this very restrictive diet. Sandwiches (bread) was definitely out as were the Soft Tacos (tortillas). To be honest, most of the Salads have bad carbs too, but we were going to do our best to stick to the diet as best we could. All of the salads are served with bread, but we asked that the server keep the bread for somebody that might actually need it. I had the KAANAPALI KOBB. This consists of Grilled & chilled chicken breast, crumbled bacon, fresh avocado, tomatoes, chopped hard cooked egg, scallions, bleu cheese crumbles & lettuce tossed w/kobb dressing. There was nothing bad about the salad, but there was nothing to write home about either. It was a typical chain restaurant salad. Jean had the CHINA COAST. This usually contains Grilled & chilled chicken breast, lettuce, carrots, snow peas, water chestnuts, fried noodles, sesame seeds, mandarin oranges & scallions w/sesame dressing. To keep on the South Beach diet, she had them 86 the carrots, fried noodles and mandarin oranges. This left an even more drab salad than usual, but dieters can't be choosers, can they? Actually, restaurants should provide more options, and I would love to see a local eatery serve a South Beach or Zone diet menu. If one exists, please let me know.

Huge, tasty burgers and even better fries. What more can I say? Islands is one of these places that I'll never get tired of. The food here is excellent. It's a very simple menu with plenty of choices. Their bread and butter here is the burgers. They have a wide selection from your traditional cheeseburger to their more Hawaiian themed burgers like the Maui (a burger with pineapple) to your Kilauea (a very spicy burger...hot like a volcano...get it?). However, I can't always say that the burgers are out of the park wonderful. It's more hit or miss. Maybe it depends on the cook but the burgers can be a bit unsatisfying some days. However, let's focus on the days when they are at their best. The burgers here are huge. The patties are large and meaty and flavorful. I suggest getting it medium but if you're squeamish about bloody, undercooked meat the well done is given justice here too. I choose to go medium/medium well cause it gives the burger a really nice texture. It's got a nice crust on the outside and still has a very flavorful texture on the inside. Depending on what burger you get will depend on the overall taste. If you're a Good Eats fan, their burger building skills are atrocious. The burger can tend to be overfilled with the other stuff and it can get quite messy so be warned, it's not the easiest meal to eat. The fries are the second best thing here. Thankfully, they now come with the meal. Because of Islands, ketchup is no longer an option when having fries. Always ask for a side of ranch and dip your fries in that. You won't regret it. The other options on the menu are also pretty great. If I'm not in the mood for a burger and want something less filling I always go for the quesadilla (off their appetizer section) with spicy chicken. If cooked properly, it's a wonderful and filling meal. Sometimes though it can be a soggy mess but nice to eat with a knife and fork. If you're in the mood for something healthier, the Chicken Caesar Salad isn't a bad choice. I've tried their soft tacos in the past and was left disappointed so I'd stay clear of that. I know it's California and we have plenty of hot days here but even then, I always get the Chicken Tortilla soup. I think it's the best chicken tortilla soup I've ever had. Of this location, I've gotta say it's one of the better places to come after a movie. It's located down the street from the theatre and my friends and I always have a great time coming here and just talking about the movie. For a restaurant style burger, I don't think you can do any better.

Overall their menu and selection is good. The server we had was wonderful but the kitchen was slow even though there were a lot of empty tables, but in general the restaurant and staff was nice. Not a lot of healthy selections however for the more weight conscious and the bathroom was pretty gross. I know it's not the restaurant's fault per se but I saw a woman change her baby's diaper and clean his butt in the sink and that's pretty gross when you have to wash your hands there and go back and eat your meal. Why would someone do that? Just put one of those Koala changing tables up and maybe it won't be a problem. Gross. Parking is a bitch too since you have to fight everyone in downtown for a spot or 'illegally' park in a reserved garage across the street since all the people going to the movies take up the spots supposedly reserved for Island's in 'their' parking garage.
