They have really good curry here. If you like curry, try this place out. Yummy.

Emon is pretty good for a neighborhood restaurant. I lived nearby so I'd go there pretty often. I like that it feels like a family business. It has a cool quality that you don't get from other establishments around it. I usually get the Emon combo and it's huge. The portion is tremendous and it is also really delicious. It's a little expensive for what it is but you can't get too mad at it. The service is good, not great. The atmosphere is okay, I guess. I usually took the food to go. If you live near here, it's a good deal. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll return.

Just on the lunch box alone I give it 5 stars! They made sushi with brown rice and the teriyaki was delish. Everything you crave is in the box. I popped in just after 4pm and they still honored lunch. They even convinced me to sit for a moment and eat. He said it would come out quick and boy did it! Can't wait to go back. Satisfied and my mouth is still watering. #GoodStuff

Stopped in after shopping at the other stores in the same strip mall. Got a sushi roll to go for dinner. They are pretty popular, plenty of people in the place. I got a rainbow roll to take home. It was quickly and freshly prepared and very good.

I absolutely love Emon! I always get the beef udon noodle soup - it's to die for! Always the perfect temperature, home made and delicious. My husband and I get take out once a week from here - good, fresh ingredients. Friendly staff. Delicious food. Highly recommend if you're in need of a less expensive dinner.

I really enjoy being able to drive around town on a daily basis and run into my old time favorite Japanese sushi, teriyaki and sushi spots. I had just about every dish here, but my usual order is the tofu noodle soup, curry rice dishes or shrimp tempura bento box combo. The staff, who I think are the owners, are very friendly and the place is clean. Don't expect fancy. Good for to-go or a quick lunch/meal at affordable prices. I always come back when I'm in the neighborhood and don't think twice before coming.

I am a BIG fan of Emon. Been coming here for 20 years since I was a little boy who lived right around the corner in Toluca Lake. I've stuck to one item every single time I have come, and that is the EMON COMBO. That is all you need to order at this place. Comes with teriyaki chicken, beef, rice, salad, and 2 large shrimp tempuras. Its a staple in the community and a testament to how they have stayed in business for so long. Amazing, amazing food here.

It's ok Japanese fast food. Came here to try the spicy tuna don, like many have reviewed well. But it's over my lunch budget at $11.95. So I opted for the spicy tuna roll and chicken teriyaki bowl instead. The bowl was not great for me. It had way too much teriyaki sauce, so it seemed too salty for me. Then the chicken tasted like it was fried or cooked in the same pan as fish. It had a fishy taste. I would be a little forgiving since Japanese food is synonymous with fish, but chicken should taste like chicken. The spicy tuna was ok. I don't think the raves on yelp were done by real sushi eaters. I must be missing something? I've eaten here before and had udon. I shall stick to that.

Emon is right next to my work. I love Japanese food, so this is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. They are a bit on the pricey side however most of their dishes come with A LOT of food (and a large amount of rice). Most dishes end up being around $15. So I usually treat myself here only on special occasions.

I have been coming here for over 8 years. This place is great for quick, cheap Japanese food. They have friendly service and the food is yummy. I dont understand all the bad reviews, this place isn't fancy but its great for a quick lunch. I always like to get the combo with the sushi, goyozo, (sp?) And teriyaki chicken that is most of the time their meal special. Never had a bad meal here! Check it out!

The most disappointing chicken teriyaki I have ever tasted. Do you guys even taste your food that you are selling? Worst cuts of chicken and the cheapest sauce they could find. The miso and shrimp tempura was decent but biting into my main meal was an unpleasant experience.

5 stars for the fresh delicious and exceptional customer service!! My fav was the yellowtail cut roll, but all of the rolls were absolutely delightful!! We are thinking of ordering sushi take out this weekend!!

After seeing Emon for months I finally had dinner there...and wow, delicious! Service was fast and friendly, teriyaki/tempura combo yummy, and very comfortable. I noted on the menu a stir fried udon noodle/chicken/vegetable dish, and saw it...can't wait to go back. UPDATE: this is now one of my favorites, and the chicken teriyaki/veggie tempura bento box is my fav. Nearly everything I've had here is delicious, but the veggie teriyaki is the BEST!

REGRET. I went back here last night to give it another try. This place is conveniently located next to Vons and maybe they deserved a second try. I ordered a chicken teriyaki, and a beef teriyaki with veggie tempura for takeout (18 bucks total). All I have to say is the chicken was FUNKY yet again! I don't know what parts of the chicken they used but probably not the best since it was all chopped up as opposed to large consecutive slices like some restaurants to it. The beef was "shredded" Yoshinoya style, although there was less fat on it this time. My boyfriend literally ate three bites of his order and pushed it away. What a waste of my hard earned money.

I'm not a sushi connoisseur or anything, but I've ate sushi enough to know how a basic California roll and Cucumber roll should taste. The Sushi did not taste fresh whatsoever, the California roll could of passed for a store bought pre-packed meal, and the cucumber roll that was wrapped in the seaweed just tasted completely dry and chewy, I'm not a picky eater, but it was so bad I left half the food on the plate and walked out. Waste of $11, do not recommend eating the sushi, not sure about the other food.

I was in the Burbank area and actually just typed in "teriyaki" in the Yelp search. Once again this is why I am a firm believer and a fellow Elite Yelper of Yelp. Emon is a moms n pops fast food teriyaki/Japanese restaurant right across from Bea Bea's. It's a fairly small restaurant, but the portions are however large if you decide to order the bento box or Emon's specials. Mind you, the bento box beef teriyaki and shrimp tempura was about $10, it was huge! The best part about Emon was that i walked in with my son (who had already eaten dinner) and the server (probably the son) gave my son a small child's cup of water and an extra plate of a small rice and slice of orange. It was nice of him to bring out another plate of rice to share! All in all a nice fast food teriyaki experience. When you walk in there are items on the board but do look at their menu for more items to choose from. Be careful when you maneuver around the kitchen to head to the restroom also.

I live right by Emon and go there a few times a month. I have never had a bad meal from them so far. The galbi is good as is their sushi. A bit pricey, but hey what isn't expensive in Burbank.

I've been coming here for 20+ years, anyone that knows real Japanese food will tell you that this place serves authentic, quality Japanese food for a very affordable price. It is family owned and operated and you can taste the love in the food. They give generous portions and are always very nice, I highly recommend Emons.

Fast. Friendly. Simple. I love the teriyaki tempura combo bento which comes with shrimp and vegetable tempura, chicken or beef teriyaki, and salad, bean sprouts, rice, and pickles.

Some people are not going to believe this review, but I assure you nothing has bee exaggerated. My buddy and I stopped here before going to the movies in Burbank. The show started 6:15, we placed out order in at 4:52. I ordered the short ribs, he ordered the Udon noodles. The noodles came around 5:09. I told him not to wait just start without me so we could be on our way when I was done. 5:15 no short ribs, 5:30 no short ribs, 5:40 no short ribs. I was faint from hunger, PO'ed and ready to walk out when 5:48 hits and the short ribs came out. I could BBQ for a party of 4 in 35 mins so why did one single plate of short ribs take almost an hour? Then I get the ribs. Fatty, very little edible meat, tasteless - it was just all bad. So an hour to cook ribs with no meat on them? Rob said his noodles were so-so. Never again, and yes I was late to my darn movie. Thanks Emon.

Not bad! It's tucked away in a big shopping center on Pass. You could easily never notice it was there. I've been here a handful of times as they are located next to the nail salon I frequent. They are friendly and they have decent prices. Also, a major plus is that they have an option for brown rice in their sushi rolls. I love that. The people are super friendly. I've usually ordered the specials on their board which tend to be hand rolls. They're quite sizable and always taste fresh and delicious.

Love the teriyaki chicken bowl here. Choice of brown rice is nice. Owners are always friendly. Family owned .

    (4)
  • Jessica C.

Where do I start? I should've paid more attention to the review that stated "funky chicken." The chicken looked like regular chopped chicken drowning in dark teriyaki sauce, but the taste was comparable to over boiled chicken (dry) seasoned with tap water. The rice was mushy and smothered in the chicken teriyaki drippings. I also ordered the beef ribs. Not a bone in site which was nice and contrary to the chicken it was packed with flavor, but not good flavor. The only way I can describe it is soy sauce with sugar and sesame. The miso soup was darker than I'm used to but was ok. Overall a complete waste of $30! Will never be back!

After a little over a year working in Burbank, I realize the affordable lunch options are fairly bleak. This place offers reasonably flavorful food, and definitely large portions (I have yet to finish one of their emon bowls in one sitting). Not the best Japanese cuisine..not by a long shot...but it'll do in a pinch in you need lunch options in Burbank.

A friend lives nearby and took us there once, I remembered it to be decently good for the bento boxes and one night I was craving a bento box. So we trekked down once again and forgot about the dated decor, stale smell in the air and no signs of customer service. I had ordered two (2) bentos and wasn't paying much attention, didn't realize that he only heard one (1). So when the food came out I was confused but decided to just share a plate instead of stuffing my face. The food was alright, chicken and beef were severely overcooked and the tempura was a bit more on the greasy side. Definitely not somewhere I'll frequent from now on. Overall, not bad... But not fantastic.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is very casual. It's Japanese owned and the food is good. I had the unagi (eel) bowl which is a very basic dish with the unagi and sauce over rice. My boyfriend had the tempura bowl. The sauces for both dishes were not too sweet as I noticed that several other Japanese restaurants in the area seem to make their sauces too sweet. It wasn't anything spectacular, but more like a good home cooked meal. The service was normal. We ordered at the counter and sat down as they brought out our food. On top of what I had, they also serve sushi, teriyaki chicken/beef, and noodles. I'll have to go back to try their other dishes before recommending this place, but if you like eel or tempura and are looking for some place quick to eat, this place would satisfy your cravings.

I go here all the time. If you are looking for a quick Japanese meal, this place does it right for a good price. I get the chicken teriyaki dinner. Its pretty good.

Rude guy at the register. Slow slow service. Not sure why it's so busy. It's what drew me in. It wasn't the food. It wasn't the service. It wasn't the prices. It wasn't even the ambiance. Can someone explain? Is it because it's near the studios and there's a lack of Japanese options?

Every once in a while I'm overcome with a teriyaki craving. Having eaten at Emon since I was five, I figured I should indulge this desire and make my 1004th visit something special. Instead of the usual Tofu Don, which is pretty fantastic and one of just a handful of tofu dishes that don't gross me out after a few bites, I splurged and ordered a shrimp Emon Don. Firm, white shrimp, not that clear novelty riff-raff served up in similar strip-mall Japanese joints, mingled with bean sprouts and other veggie miscellany, filling my bowl high above it's brim. Rice drizzled in a thin teriyaki sauce strong with sesame oil creating a more savory foundation than the too-commonly found hyper-sweet tar that typically drenches a rice bowl. The food is always fresh here (or they do a good job of faking it), the soy vinaigrette salad is pretty amazing if you want something light and cheap ($4-5 I believe). Sushi menu is limited but considering the kitchen space, that's understandable, but it's always been delicious and consistent. The only component lacking is the service. It's not bad, it's that just about every time I eat here, I get served by a very curt, older gent who seems disinterested in creating a n environment contrary to the strip mall one you get at first sight. The old staff, mostly women, were always extra pleasant and they seemed to enjoy chatting and making sure you were enjoying your meal...which you were because it's Emon.

I used to go to this place maybe two days a week about 20 years ago. I took a couple co-worker there a few weeks ago and the lace has not changed. The food is still out of this world. Nice people and plenty of great food. Great lunch specials. So glad I have been re-aquatinted with Emon.

Good food. The wait can be a bit long but that's to be expected at such a busy strip mall.

I was pleasantly surprised about this little strip mall restaurant. Since i am a health nut, I was surprised that they served brown rice. And you could have it in your sushi too for a $1 more. I highly recommend the seaweed salad. It wasn't on the menu but it was displayed by the cash register. Friendly fast service. Japanese good made by a Korean couple. Very yummy and cheap food!

Not bad at all. I was expecting very Americanized Japanese food that was going to be too sweet. It's not sweet and is pretty good. Great for lunch. I usually get the chicken or beef teriyaki. Restaurant is clean and staff is friendly.

A fast food Japanese restaurant with a friendly wait staff, but I much prefer Sushi West. The chicken curry over rice tasted similar to boxed curry, and left a bitter aftertaste. The curry was lighter and thinner than Hurry Curry, and more savory than the curry at Daichan. The salad dressing was, I think, a sort of light citrus miso. The terriyaki sauce over grilled chicken was sweet with an unpleasant sour tang, and the shrimp tempura was on the soggy side. Notables: A sign in the restaurant reads "No added MSG." I normally develop headaches after having too much MSG (I'll have a bag of chips, but won't attempt a bowl of pho), but I was fine after having finished most of the curry.

The food was decent and the kid working was VERY nice. He messed up our order (which we didn't even notice) and he ran out and alerted us and insisted that he make us a new order. Both orders were good, and I'm surprised he admitted a problem we didn't even notice. Kudos, kid.

after reading all the yelp reviews I decided to have lunch here. I ordered the spicy tuna don bowl with brown rice and the lunch special. Overall, it was pretty decent. You get large portions and plenty of rice to fill up on. Customer service was excellent and I didn't wait more than 10 minutes for my order. However, I would recommend ordering ahead because parking during lunch is pretty terrible. Even though this wasn't super amazing, I definitely will come back for the spicy tuna don and the quick service.

Soups were OK with VERY large portions of noodles. Broth was good. We ordered vegetarian udon soup. A few pieces of shrimp and tofu. Vegetables were a bit skimpy. I ordered the beef curry. Crazy quantities of flat udon noodles in a curry gravy. Very rich and filling. Basically it was a serious carbo-loading Asian style. But for a cold day, it warmed us up. The one server behind the counter was helpful and polite. Got us spicy pepper and spicy sauce, which were needed to perk up the bready noodle flavors. Parking was difficult, which is surprising for a basic strip mall with a Vons. We drove around twice, the left once and sought spots on the street, but to no avail. Went back in and got lucky by the bank. And, this was only at noon on a Saturday. Yet, the Emon was nearly empty. Go figure.

Ordered the Emon Don. It has their name in it so you think it would be special, right? No, it was not special. It was rice with some stir-fry vegetables (mostly bean sprouts and carrot shavings with some broccoli) and chicken in what I guess was terriaki sauce. If it was, I couldn't tell because it didn't taste like anything. Tasted like "brown". Didn't even taste like soy sauce. Bizarrely, the item had a "Spicy" denotation next to it. Didn't come anywhere near that. The sign outside didn't even have the name of the place. Just said "Japanese food". The food I had tasted as generic as the name. The photos looks that way too.

Emon employees have great service and they are very welcoming. The lady was kind enough to help me bring my order to my car since there were a couple more bags than I could hold. I order the sushi yellow tail and salmon, which was really good and fresh.

Sub par Asian food is what you'll be getting at this place. The prices are (relatively) cheap however so it's a great spot for a quickie lunch. I got the tempura teriyaki bento which came with a fair amount of food. I would recommend it to anyone looking for quick food, but not necessarily Benihana quality food.

A great little place I come to with my coworkers for lunch. I'm a huge fan of the Tofu salad here. I love the dressing and it is very tasty and light. The salad is pretty big too. I usually order an order of gyoza with it and am pretty happy. The lunch box specials are always a good deal as well and they give you a pretty good amount of food. Food is fresh and service is good.

I used to come here every week when I worked in the neighborhood. Emon is owned and run by a Japanese family and they know what authentic Japanese food is supposed to taste. Their strengths are fast service, consistency of quality, good portions, and good taste. They're very busy around lunch time. All the tables are taken if you hit the busy hour. This isn't a place to come in large groups. The biggest group should be 4. A lot of customers order for pick up. I see staff members always taking orders on the phone while I eat my Teriyaki Chicken Combo. This might be the smart thing to do since seating is very limited during peak hours. The staff here are very friendly and if you are a regular, they just might throw in a free bowl of miso soup or edamame!

Sushi in a strip mall can be rather sketchy. Not at Emon! We received lots of tempura with our tempura dish and the sushi was real good. Nice service and good prices. Worth repeating!

  • Gabe A.

only two things you need to get here.... the spicy tuna don and the unagi don... these two bowls alone have my girlfriend and me coming back at least twice a month. price is fair and the staff is so very nice! definitely suggest checking the place out if you want a quick bite...

  • Orville C.

Nothing overly spectacular, but if I had to recommend anything it would have to be a teriyaki bowl particularly the teriyaki chicken. They have a traditional offering of take out as most other Japanese takeout restaurants. Although there have been a couple of occasions where I have ordered something and have found other things mixed in, I am willing to forgive. Anything covered with their teriyaki sauce is good. I have not been brave enough to try the sushi it just does not look like it would be all that good, but I could be wrong.

  • Robert D.

I've been coming here for more than 25 years and it has been consistently very good. Everything I have had is quite tasty but what I enjoy most is the variety one gets with the daily special. You get beans sprouts, a pickled cabbage mix, a salad with a fantastic lemon dressing, teriyaki chicken, rice, and whatever your main entree is! All on one large, segmented tray. The Emon Don is also very good. Lunch will cost you about 8-11 dollars.

Three times-- on three separate days of the week even-- I have tried to go to Emon in the evenings. Each time they were closed early. I understand that no restaurant wants someone to come in at the last minute, but 30min early is a bit much. Why advertise closing at 9pm when you really close at 8:30pm? If you don't want the additional business, then update your signs.

Yet another Japanese joint : ) This one's not too shabby... Once again, I chose to order the Beef Teriyaki with Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura for $8.95, along with some Aloe Water for... I think a little over $1.00... Not too sure about that one... All I know is that it tastes good and gives you that mind-f*** so you actually think your helping your skin... Good enough for me : ) Anyway back to the food: The meal was served on a bento tray... It came with the most rice I've ever had at a Japanese place. I usually have to ask for a second bowl, but since they served a lot, I didn't have to so that's definitely a big plus. The tempura is good, I've had better like from your local mall's Tokyo Grill, but this plate had really good vegetable tempura. It came with two different salads. One was Mixed veggies with peanut dressing which is always good, and some weird steamed veggies that tasted really citrussy... It's good that it had flavor but it's just not my thing... It also came with sprouts which was definitely the best side. As for the beef, unfortunately disappointing... I was expecting whole pieces of beef, unfortunately I got shredded beef that they smothered with their teriyaki sauce... Don't get me wrong it was rich in flavor but after a few bites I honesty got sick of it because of the texture... It may sound weird but even though it tasted okay, I just didn't like the fact it was shredded beef, especially being a place that's supposedly better than a fast food joint such as Tokyo Grill... So the tempura, the sides, and the amount of rice did it for me because I felt that they were better than the beef. So if you got $10 to burn then go ahead and try it. You won't love it but you won't hate it either.

I love this little place. The people are nice and the food is delicious. I've been here twice and ordered the box with chicken, salad, gyoza, sushi rolls and once more thing I can't remember. My old high school friend introduced me to this great place and also introduced me to miso soup.

Good strip mall dining is sometimes hard to come by. Emon is a hidden jewel on Pass Ave. Teriyaki is awesome - I usually go for the chicken, but if you get the beef, it is chopped up instead of getting chewy, overcooked slices like some other places serve. Combined with the rice, it makes for a really comforting dish. Curry rice - love Japanese curry. I prefer it over coconut milk versions. Tempura - crispy, light, airy. The best tempura from a small Japanese joint like this. They even have Korean dishes like bibimbap and kalbi (beef shortribs). The side salad that comes with entree plates is even great. I'm usually a little hesitant to have sushi from small mom & pop places like this, but their's is actually pretty decent. I've enjoyed their spicy tuna rolls.

  • Dale B.

I love the chicken curry here. It is your traditional Japanese brown curry dish with rice. The dish has a bit of spice with good flavor. The Japanese family that runs the restaurant are very kind. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

I've been to Japan and know what to expect from a Japanese Restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised as to how good the sushi is at Emon's, and it is walking distance from where I live! Not only is their sushi good, but their daily combination dinners are excellent and so filling that it could feed 2! The staff at Emon is very friendly, and for such a small place I loved the quality of the food! I highly recommend Emon!

I've been living next door to the strip mall shopping center where Emon is located since this summer. I haven't tried it, though, til recently. I've been really missing out! I'm a fanatic for spicy tuna and this place serves a really solid plate. The shrimp tempura is also excellent. Its got a good selection of bowls and bento boxes, but just based on the sushi, I can recommend this place. Good prices, clean atmosphere, great location. Thumbs up!

I am pleased to say this is my first review for an LA/Burbank establishment! After a long day of moving into my apartment, i was famished and needed a stiff drink. However, since it WAS only 1pm...i settled for sushi. Im pretty sure they are in a strip center and dont have a sign. Oh well. The portions are huge. 10 bucks gets you a box full of teriyaki, tempura, and the rest of that good stuff. They also have noodle bowls. The sushi took FOREVER to get. Literally....full on platters were coming out before we got our sushi. Hmm...odd much? Anyway...I got the tuna, which was good. However, it was kind of warm(assuming from the rice?) and had a few of those 'oh shit, im going to get food poisoning from sushi in a strip center' moments. Luckily it didnt happen. The rainbow roll was ok as well. not great. For a cheap lunch or dinner...if you are REALLY desperate, this place is just fine. DOnt expect much though.

Emon is definitely one of my favorite places to eat. They have good sushi and overall good food. THe one thing that stands out is their #8 combo Beef Teriyaki and Shrimp Tempura. One of the best things I ever ate. Their teriyaki sauce is made fresh there and is awesome.

  • Grant L.

I lived six months without going to this place that I walked past twice a week on my way to Vons before I went inside. The food is some of the best quick service Japanese I've ever had. It's made to order, so all the ingredients are fresh and hot. It's a little pricey, but the portions are also pretty good size, so if you're really hungry or splitting it's a nice value. I can't speak for the sushi, as I'm usually too hungry to get just a few rolls or whatever, but the noodle and broth dishes are hot and tasty. Throw a couple Pikachu and Squirtle dolls around and I'll feel like I just set foot in the land of the rising sun.

awesome food, service and right next to my work!! i love their noodles and are soo glad that they are real asian noodles. you should call your order in if you can, they tend to take around 10-15 minutes to make your food. parking can be tough too, but that whole plaza is bad for parking!

Decent, nothing to be ashamed of, but nothing to brag about either. Good portions, though. Had the teriyaki beef and tempura (freshly fried, it seemed.). Was definitely full when I left. I'd eat there again.

I've been coming here for a good 10 years. A nice family owns and operates this little place in the Vons shopping center. Businesses have come and gone here but Emon has lasted. My main order is their teriyaki chicken bowl or what they call a Teri Don. I order it with the teriyaki sauce on the side since every single place that serves teriyaki drowns whatever they're serving in the sauce. I don't care for that. So I use the sauce for dipping. It's a simple dish: grilled chicken bits (lots of it), rice, and bean sprouts. They always ask if you want the sprouts (I think lots of people don't like the stuff or maybe it's pricey) but I love it. Pile it on. They also have a daily special that's almost always something really yummy and just chock-full of food. It's usually some kind of teri chicken or meatballs or dumplings, sushi of some kind, noodles, sprouts and pickled veggies, rice, and salad. I'll go for this once in awhile. They're kind of a quick, grab and go kind of place so don't expect a giant sushi menu. They just have the basics. But all of it has been fresh and good, in my experience, although this isn't my first choice for strictly sushi. Fast and friendly service, if not always with a smile. They're just all about the food here.

a nice little neighborhood spot. very polite people. if you are in the area and are craving relatively inexpensive japanese food, feel free to give it a try. it's a nice and easy lunch joint. this place will NOT blow your socks off, but go here for quantity/selection/convenience. this is yer typical korean-owned japanese restaurant, so most of you will know what to expect. they even sell some goodie snacks like pocky and deelish aloe drinks! nuff said.

Pretty good noodles for the area it's in. I've been craving ramen for the past three days and decided that today would be the day that I get some. Since there was no way I'd make it to Japantown and back during my lunch hour I figured I'd search for something closer. Unfortunately, there isn't a big ramen offering in the Valley and the only place I found even remotely close enough for me to get to and back closes from 2:30 to 5:30. I usually eat late so that wasn't going to work out. Finally after watching me search online for a good couple of hours, my coworker turns to me and mentions this place. We found a menu online and decided to give it a try. At this point, I didn't care how authentic the ramen was, I just wanted hot noodles. So we called in an order and I went over there to pick it up and took a peek inside the bag when I got to my car. The ramen container was huge and even bigger was the carton of broth. I got the mixed veggie noodles with beef. Very pleasantly surprised by the assortment of veggies. The noodles looked ok, but at this point I wasn't going to be picky. Anyways, the food was good. Didn't hit the spot but it will do for holding me over. The beef was really fine and insignificant. I wish they had pork slices but that apparently was too much for this joint. But the veggies were good. They had bok choy which I'm always a fan off. The broth was good. It's not exactly authentic ramen, but it was yummy all the same. I think I'll come back but for a teriyaki bowl or something. It's sorta a fast food Japanese joint. I think they have lunch specials too.

I'm Japanese American, I've been to Japan, and from my experience this place isn't that great. Honestly my co-workers love it and they always invite me to go back but everything I've had was kind of mediocre. Their tempura is weird. They batter and fry fake crab. I've never seen that before. I think it's gross and I definitely think that affected my opinion. Tempura is usually fresh vegetables and shrimp battered and fried. It's funny to me that it seems to be a popular place for people who work in the area. Sorry, not really a fan.

its a simple Japanese restaurant, family owned but their food is good. No fuss - nothing fancy. Just a real good meal. Spicy Tuna is so so good! My kids learned to use chopsticks from this place.

This restaurant is a little treasure. I have been eating there since 1984 and have never had a bad meal. The place is kept wonderfully clean and unpretentious, and the owners and staff are extremely courteous and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the quality and quantity are high. My favorite is Mixed Noodle Soup which is a huge bowl of soup filled with noodles, vegetables, chicken, imitation crab & shrimp. I also am partial to the Emon-Don, a rice bowl with chicken, vegetables with teriyaki sauce. I prefer the spicy sauce. The Teppan-Yaki is wonderful, too. Their sushi is well prepared and quite good and reasonably priced. Enjoy.

If you've eaten at Atch Kotch in Hollywood or Daichan in Studio City you will be very, very disappointed. I had the Chicken Combo Bento Box and my friend (Japanese American) had the same with Beef. Sorry to report that dry, overcooked meat covered with Smart & Final grade teriaki sauce does not a good meal make. Maybe the noodle soups and other menu items are better, but I won't be risking it.

My recently discovered fave JP food around work :D Last Friday, I had a craving for japanese food, so I looked up and found this place on yelp. It turned out to be in the same plaza as supermarket (Vons I think) and other stores, so parking was not hard to find. I got to the restaurant at around 1pm, and the place was pretty packed. Items on the menu were kinda limited; they served mostly bento boxes, terriyaki bowls, and some udon/ramens. I ended up ordering the Emon bowl with chicken. Food came out pretty fast, and BOY, it came in a HUGE BOWL!!! Beansprouts, onions, chicken, and rice stir fried together, flavored in light terriyaki sauce. A satisfying meal indeed! Def worth revisits.

Been going to this place for many years now. Hasn't changed a bit since the late '80s. Friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices. I usually get the Emon Don with chicken, extra spicy teriyaki and just recently they made brown rice an option to the usual steamed white rice. The daily special combo plates are always good, and the curry chicken is nice, but no Hurry Curry. Considering Emon's close proximity to where I work, I hope to eat here often for years to come.

Not really Japanese. More like Korean pretending to be Japanese. Well, it's in Burbank. That should pretty much sum it up. Only thing I get is their 'teriyaki' chicken bowl. The optional bean sprouts add a little life to the dish. It's edible when your stomach has been yelling at you to feed it and you're stuck in Burbank, so you need something quick and cheap to quiet it down. I did not like their beef bowl. They season it with nothing. Haven't tried their sushi. Probably won't either.

Great place when you need a quick simple lunch. The sushi is fairly basic and a little pricy but always good quality. Check out the gift store next door; its a gem. They carry dept store cosmetics and other surprising stuff.

Not bad for a quick bite to eat. The sushi leaves a lot to be desired, so beware. Otherwise, the portion sizes are worth the price.

I've been coming here ever since I was a baby. The staff then were extremely nice and gave me free little dishes with oranges, cherries, and other goodies. I'm incredibly glad this place is still around. Its good pick me up food for when I'm not sure what I want to eat and just want a quick bite. It isn't the BEST Japanese food in the world but its pretty good if you want something quick, delicious, and healthy. The beef udon is my favourite udon I've had. Ever since I was little I always got the "Beef Bowl" (which is basically beef teriyaki). Use to not get it with bean sprouts but now I do. If I ever need a snack before dance, this is the place to go and I know I'll have leftovers. The boxes are pretty good too. Sad that they are closed on Sundays or I'd go get myself some right now! Nice staff, clean place, decent food, and not too pricey. It is in a "strip mall" if that's what you want to call it. Basically next to Von's.

not so good... I ordered the #10 Combination Plate. The chicken was okay, but the beef was kinda nasty. It had way too much sauce on it and the meat was rough and dry. The shrimp tempura was kinda fishy and the rice was a bit dry. I paid about $13 for the meal and a pepsi. I walked out disappointed especially because it's not that cheap for what it tastes like.

I went to Emon a Japanese place that's Korean owned. I have gone to Korean owned Japense food places that were good this was not one of them. My fiance had a chicken teriyaki the chicken tasted frozen and the teriyaki sauce wasn't even close to being teriyaki it was like a soy sauce goop not sweet. I ordered the curry rice expecting it be good since it is a japanese staple however the curry didn't event taste like it was Japanese seemed like it was missing alot of ingredients and was plain. The chicken didn't taste right was more like a frozen chicken nugget. Sunomono which is a cucumber salad was the probably the best thing i got there but still not real Japanese tasting. It shouldn't come off like a Japanese place since it also has Korean food on the menu along with there own not good twist on the food it's more of an American/ Korean/ Japanese fusion. The service was good though. Kamsanida
