This is a four star kitchen. Good products ; highlights include scallop rolls, the sashimi sets, and a comprehensive appetizer menu. Happy hour looks legit as well. The lows = a warm pitcher of beer + understaffed dinner service. Hopefully these things can be worked out on our next visit, location is pretty convenient.

look, i love happy hours and i don't know how i have not heard of kabuki's!! came on a thursday and there was good amount of seating available which made me happy i didn't have to wait! had a great waitress who helped me decide on what to get and gave great recommendations! HAPPY HOUR is: -monday-friday 3pm-6pm -monday-thursday 9pm-close -sunday 8pm-close food: -calamari rings (original - $8.95/HH - $6.95) - okay was super excited to see calamari on the HH menu because I LOVE good calamari. unfortunately it wasn't AMAZING but it did the job. i do they the calamari was coated a little too thick because most of what i could taste was the outer layer. also the sauces that came with it idk. the dark sauce i really wanted to love but it gave me a nail polish after taste so i wasn't too into it -shrimp tempura roll (original - $9.95/HH - $7.95) - DUDE THEIR SUSHI IS HUGE OMG... largest sushi i have ever seen/eaten. i love a good deal so i was impressed with the size yet at the same time confused on how i would fit it in in one bite but i managed and am def not complaining :) the shrimp tempura roll was filling but i think the roll was lacking some flavor components but for the price i can't complain! OVERALL: come here during HH and if you're into regular rolls like they're three bucks! come on!!!!!

I've been here a few times for dinner and drinks around 4-8pm. We've sat at the bar every time and it's been great. The bartenders are very friendly and answer all our annoying sushi or cocktail related questions :) The food is not the best I've had, but it's definitely solid and never bad. And the cocktails are great!

I always get the Tonkatsu lunch special. It is a very reasonable price for delicious food. A very sensible choice. Also, my server Teddy was amazing. He kept checking if we needed refills or anything. He knows the menu very well and makes great recommendations. Also, he is very fun (he loves talking about Disney movies!). Thanks Teddy!

I convinced a friend of mine to come here on a Sunday night and I was not disappointed. The sushi chefs, John and JK, served me and the sushi tour they gave me was amazing! We tried the shrimp and salmon sushi, the shtimp temepra roll, toro sushi was great, and even got a special roll from JK. Our server, Christina was great, very attentive and made our visit very warm and family like. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK!

The manager read my review and even spoke to me on my next visit. I have to say the service has really improved and the 10 or so to go orders I've placed since my last review have been spot on. They even got the ponzu sauce right! Even though tonight was crowded, our waitress was super attentive and made sure my son's order came out first (guess she's a mom, too). $1.95 draft Sapporo is a bargain and their R&D test kitchen menu has some really tasty dishes. My wife and I especially liked the asparagus roll with salmon and crunchy garlic. We subbed smoked salmon for fresh and it was a really good call! The kids meal was more than enough for my two year old with enough left overs for lunch tomorrow.

They've gotten a few more new items on the menu since the last time I've been. Tonight I tried the salmon asparagus roll w/garlic. It's a roll with asparagus inside topped with salmon and chili oil and comes with a brown creamy sesame based dipping sauce. Was really good! Also tried their steamed bun filled with pork belly. Yummy. Service is still slow but seems to have gotten a little better. The garlic beef taki was also really good. Sunday happy hour is from 8pm-closing.

I come this location often since I relocated from my work. I love this place. I brought many of my coworkers to have a lunch or dinner they all loved it,too. Food is always fresh & delicious. Especially, sea urchin sushi is great every time. Services is great...and love the point system so that I can get a gift card. Double point accumulated on Mondays & Tuesdays. ^_^ I'll keep coming this location with my coworkers. Thanks Kabuki!!

Sushi rolls on the happy hour menu are borrringgggggg! My boyfriend doesn't really eat sushi so I started off with a California Roll because you can't go wrong with a California Roll anywhere. Later on, I ordered the Dynamite Roll and the Gold Rush roll. After all of the rolls came out I noticed that they all had something in common. A CALIFORNIA ROLL. Dynamite roll had a California Roll with COLD scallop, onions, and crab meat on top. I felt sick eating it afterwards. The Gold Rush roll was a California Roll fried in tempura. I just had three California Rolls basically. I've been to Kabuki before with friends before and ordered fish. Their fish is alright. Let's just say you get what you paid for. I'd give this place two stars because their sushi is mediocre to say the least. But 1 star because our server Michael was very friendly and attentive.

Happy hour lasts until 6PM. The food is pretty meh as are the prices. Went here with the wife and only ordered happy hour food with one beer and ended up with a $73 bill post tax and tip. Service was good though, although even though I asked for a chilled glass with my beer they still didn't give me one. Meh all around.

I've been coming here for years and I really like it. Only reason I don't rate it higher is because it's a little pricey for a college student. Quality of food is great though. Definitely recommended.

Mediocre sushi with an awesome happy hour! Located on the corner of the Target plaza across from the Brea mall, I would probably only come in for the happy hour otherwise the sushi is not very memorable. Happy Hour: M-F 3-6pm M-thur 9-close Sunday 8-close My party ordered the Philadelphia, Spicy tuna, Albacore crunch, Sunkissed, shrimp tempura, sesame chicken and a couple other rolls. All the rolls were massive! The fish and rice was plentiful. I didn't like the sesame chicken. There was a ton of fat on it. Free green tea ice cream on your birthday! And the staff hooked it up with two large scoops. The green tea ice cream was surprisingly the best I've ever tasted! Service was great, our server was very attentive. Almost too attentive. She probably came back at least 10 times to check up on us..

  • Kristy V.

Honestly, food is great but service at this place sucks!!!! I will probably only come back whenever it's like off hours AND only when I'm not really hungry. But then again, why go out to eat? I'll come when it's off hours and when I'm hungry!!

You can't go wrong here. I have so many favorites and the service is always great. They have outdoor seating which I highly recommend. Great quality and decent portions. I've eaten here 4times so far in six months and I have always left satisfied and never with a complaint. Happy hour here is the way happy hour should be everywhere! GREAT DEALS AND THEY DONT CHEAT YOU ON PORTIONS The taco trio is a new favorite of mine as are the BBQ Beef Roll

I haven't gone in a while and with not many places being open this Easter holiday, we ended up here. One of the reasons we don't frequent this chain is their flavor is never quite right and for the price there's not enough. When you think of small bites/tasting menu and you pay a pretty penny, there's a level of quality, ambience, and taste you expect. This place prices higher than normal Japanese restaurants serving similar foods with similar environment. It lacks in flavor (sukiyaki tastes like hot sugar water) and overall quality/variety (sukiyaki had one chunk of thin beef stuck together, telling me they took one clump out of the freezer and dumped it in the pot; no carrots or enoki mushrooms). Suffice to say, unless I'm invited to a birthday or special occasion here, I won't be revisiting.

Fantastic Sushi! Probably some of the best sushi I have ever had! The quality of the sushi was really great! You could taste the freshness! Plus the presentation of the sushi was very neat! Although, the prices were a little higher then normal sushi, it is well worth it! You pay for good quality! My sat at the bar, and it was really great! Out sushi came very fast, the sushi chief was very friendly and really good at his job! The device was also really great! Overall, I see no reason whatsoever for a person to NOT try this place! If your in the area! I highly suggest trying this place out!

Amazing as usual. Vegas roll, dynamite roll, Alaskan roll were all so good. Our server Janice was very friendly.. The whole staff greeted us upon arrival. The beer was ice cold. The tea was fresh brewed. No complaints, delicious again.

  • John S.

Note: I only give out 5 stars to surprisingly EXCEPTIONAL, best-in-class establishments. Been here a few times. Food is good, pretty standard for Japanese fusion restaurant. Service is good. Definitely a 4-star experience, but nothing special worthy of a 5-star rating.

  • Carrah A.

One of our favorite sushi places to go when we are in Brea. There's a fantastic variety of specialty rolls and appetizers to try, pleasant waiters, and a nice relaxing dining experience to enjoy. The rewards system is actually worth being a part of as well!

  • Nicole A.

I love this place... Really never had a bad experience! They have awesome lunch specials (hello, ninja deluxe!). As much as I love this place I never thought to leave a review until after we stopped in for a dual work birthday lunch a few days ago. Sean waited on us and he was friendly, quick and knowledgeable. We will definitely request him again next time we return.

Kabuki is good. I frequent this location and Cerritos. I've never had any complaints! Service is good! We seem to always get the same server. After two times, he remembered our order. Pretty impressed! It might be because he messed up on one part of our order the first time, but he was such a good sport about it that we couldn't be mad if we tried! Free edamame when you order a roll. Nice perk of kabuki, even if edamame is only $2-3 elsewhere. I've experimented a lot with rolls here. All were tasty except one. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name. It had little balls on the outside and they added an odd taste. Other than that. I've been happy with everything!

  • Matthew N.

Good Japanese food and well worth the price during lunch time. Have not gone outside of lunch, but the place and atmosphere is great, and it's also near the Brea Mall. Server was friendly and attentive, but nothing stellar, I ordered their Deluxe lunch combo and it had everything I liked, tempura, chicken and beef. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Will be going back.

Kabuki never fails me. The rolls are delicious; however the service that night was not so great.

  • Chris S.

Some of the best sushi this side of the pacific! The place was packed, but the sushi bar only had a few people, so we elected to sit there. We went mainly for nigiri, with a couple rolls on the side. I have to say, the chef definitely knew how to cut sushi. Salmon, Albacore, Tuna, all good and fresh. Did not try any of the other menu items, just sushi only.

Everything was great, the new shrimp tempura roll is excellent! The baja roll is great, the fried calamari is amazing!

Updating my review to a 1, would be a 0 or -5 if possible. Gave this spot a second chance because a friend wanted to go but I should have declined. Service was terrible again and placed an order to-go. I SPECIFICALLY stated that I didn't want shrimp/shell fish in my order because of ALLERGIES yet when I got back home there was the deadly shell fish in the bag. The place is terrible. Food is awful, service is worse. I'm disgusted with myself for even considering and ultimately going to this establishment again. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy.

Always good value here. The weekend lunch combos are larger portions. 3.5 stars for value. They start you out with a small bowl of decent miso soup. Ordered the Nijiya combo and the Samurai combo. The Samurai combo comes with generous portions of beef and chicken teriyaki. The separate bowl of green salad is generous and fresh; comes with a lightly tangy dressing. Your get five pieces of tempura (two green string beans, piece of yam, carrot, shriimp) that are crispy, light and flavorful. Your choice of rice: brown or white. The brown rice was cooked just right, both slightly nutty and not clumpy. And you get 3 phat pieces of crab (faux crab) sushi. They even ask you how you want the meat cooked. Nice job Kabuki!!! It's all pretty good quality, especially for $12.95. I don't know how this place makes money but I like the food here. I had the Njiya combo: just like above minus the beef. I asked for well done and my chicken was slightly charred, tender and tastey. Customer service: friendly and good. My iced tea was always topped up. You are greeted with a warm smile when you arrive. Parking: good.

Wow what happened I used to love this place but it has really gone down hill in quality and service. The sushi is still delicious and very well made. If you come here only order sushi you will not be disappointed. However service is really bad was here over and hour and did not get one refill on our drinks. Also found a huge bone in my Sesame chicken and almost lost a tooth when I brought it up to my waitress she told me that it has always had bones in it and to be careful. Wish they put that on the menu, Funny thing is first time I have ever gotten a bone in ordering the dish over 10 times. Just avoid this place they do not act like they want your business avoid at all costs.

Came here on a Friday night just before 7:00pm. Managed to beat a dinner crowd rush. But surprisingly there didn't seem to be that much of a crowd. This place has a nice mini bar in the corner. We were seated right away. Currently had a special on Asahi beer. Took advantage of that. My family of 4 all ordered sushi rolls/plates. Did not disappoint. Waiting time for food wasn't that long. Free edamame is provided. Had fried calamari and cooked? edamame as appetizers. Service is good. Months before, found out they don't take reservations (I don't remember if it was just for a Friday night, or in general). I would come back here, as long as it's not crowded.

My wife and I came here for an anniversary dinner. The service was a bit slow at first. We waited about 10 minutes to get drinks, but once we were seated the pace picked up with the server. The sauteed asparagus was delicious. I ordered the seafood platter. The presentation was fairly impressive however, the taste and odor emanating from the plate indicated that perhaps the shell fish may have needed to be cleaned and cooked a bit more. The staff was friendly and restaurant was clean. Dessert was excellent. Grilled Japanese mango and ice cream left my taste buds happy. Not sure if I'll come back.

Just came here for a friend's birthday and food was delicious. Ordered the Alaskan roll and also the Sunkissed roll. Both were not too strong in flavor and it actually got me full and I can eat a lot. Edamame was just the right amount of saltiness and the peach iced tea was delicious. Our server Teddy was excellent. Always checking up on us, refilling drinks, got our sides on time and was just on point all night. Not to mention his impeccable memory. We had 8 of us together and he managed to memorize everything and we ordered at least 15 different items and even special ordered a few. Thanks again Teddy for your service!!

Kind of pricey sushi restaurant for okay sushi. Sushi wise, it's not cheap supermarket sushi but it's not the most amazing either. My mom ordered an $18 plate of assorted sushi and if it were me, I would still be hungry after because there wasn't enough to be satisfying, especially at that price. I ordered the shrimp hibachi rice and it was a decent bowl sized scoop of rice. I actually enjoyed my rice! It was flavorful and not overly oily. A little salty but not too much, perfect for me. I would order it again! Overall just okay for me, not horrible but not too special either. Maybe come for lunch to find cheaper deals.

Reasons why Kabuki sushi is my favorite: 1. Located in an area with plenty of parking. 2. Upon entering the host is always smiling and pleasant. 3. The waiter would always recommend what's new and always have a list of suggestions for us. 4. The rolls are always fresh and good, my favorite is the lobster roll! There's huge chunks of lobster in it ! And we always get our food fast, and it's delicious! Can't wait to come back

This is my number one sushi place when I'm eating close to home. I have tried many many things off the menu, and loved all of it. My best friend is a vegan so we appreciate the fairly large vegetarian menu. The rolls on this menu are actually quite delicious! The veggie rainbow roll is a great one to start with if you've never ordered anything off the vegetarian menu. My two absolute favorite rolls would have to be the vegas and the albacore crunch roll. Both are so tasty they make me want to throw it up and eat it again! They also have a very good happy hour. You can get a decent sized beer for around 4 dollars. Also Erica P is the best hostess ever! She is so sweet and just the cutest darn thing! Thanks for the best service girl :)

I've been here a few times and this place has some pretty good sushi at a reasonable price. The last time I visited I sat outside, and it had a pretty relaxed atmosphere. The server we had was nice, funny, and very attentive. I would recommend this place to people who like sushi, but don't want to pay an arm and a leg for it.

This review is long over-due I've lived in the area for 4 years now and this place never disappoints . I regularly come to kabuki during their happy hour & their food/service is great! There's always plenty of parking and I've never had a long wait before seating! Try the dynamite roll it is amazing

  • Rod D.

Their food selection and flavor seem far from being authentic Japanese cuisine, but not for lack of trying. The service was good, even during peak dining hours.

    (3)
  • Delena T.

I come here often for happy hour but their spicy tuna rolls got smaller since the last time I was here. Not worth it. There are plenty of happy hour sushi places out there that are the same quality but in bigger portions.

Food is good, however service is a disappointment. As a frequent customer you'd think they would pay closer attention to my order, but boy was I wrong. I ordered a veggie Ramen soup with EASY on the kale, I ended up getting a veggie Ramen with NO ramen and a whole lot of kale, not the first time this has happened. Asian receptionist in the front in the morning during the week day is EXTREMELY rude !!! I was going to request that my job have our Christmas party here but don't think that's a good idea with all the bad experiences I've been encountering, I only go back for the food ... But maybe I should completely boycott it. What needs to be fixed here is the staffs customer service skills ESPECIALLY on the phone, key word " ATTENTION TO DETAIL!" I'm very disappoint that every time I come here and shed light to the mistakes that are made, nothing gets done about it, nor do I get an apology for the horrible service. Unfortunately I feel the need to tell my friends, family , clients at work and coworkers about my experiences when and if they ask.

I recently checked this location out, it is actually A LOT closer than the Cerritos. I live in East Whittier, and always have to hassle with the traffic on the freeway going there, so then I always miss happy hour. This location has better customer service, by far, the best! I go in every Monday for my 2 orders of California rolls, and Miso soup, I have been approached several times by name and my order is already well known and sometimes ready around my lunch time. I order to go. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the local area that is looking for great service and sushi. The lunch plates are abundant and can serve 2 people, so either go hungry, or expect to take food home. Sign up for the Kabukis Red card too, it is very helpful with given discounts, and racking up points for a free entree's worth gift card. It has helped me quite often. It could be a bit pricey if you don't go during happy hour, so plan accordingly. The weekend is insanely busy, but not a long wait time at all. The parking lot is full almost all of the time, it is in a small shopping center that shares the spots with Pei Wei and 24 Hour Gym, so be prepared to look for parking upon arrival. They have a wonderful outside patio that is covered with a netting that calls for a serene experience. They offer complimentary edamame, which is covered with I believe is sea salt. It isn't bad at all! The miso soup is amazing! Those that get miso soup at other places, and have not like it there, you will appreciate it here. It is very good. Try this place out, go on a weekday during happy hour so you don't have to fight for parking. Definitely get the miso soup. Hope you enjoy!

Decent to good Japanese food Party of four all of our entrées came out at completely different times with missing items wrong sauces etc. and the place was maybe one third full on a Tuesday night they did apologize and comped us with dessert

Food was pretty good. Service ruined it for me. Our waitress was friendly, but she was frazzled and did not pay any attention to us. My drink was always empty until i was lucky enough to get someones attention.

This is my first time visiting this place and alls I can say is WOW. 10 all the way around. My waiter/server was a male by the name of Chris and this kid was amazing. He answered all my questions, attended to my throughout my visit and brought out my meal in record time. Staff is on point, they make you feel wanted and like your liked and accepted which is how it should be when using your money to buy their product/service. The portions they give you are double the size of any other sushi place I've ever visited. I highly recommend this place.

    Two words: HAPPY HOUR When? M-F 3-6pm (and 9pm-close on some days - not sure) And the happy hour menu ranges from $3-$8. What a freaking deal, right?! I typically go to Octopus for their happy hour specials, but I don't know, man. This place kinda won me over with their HH menu. Whenever I go to a Kabuki location, it's not during lunch or happy hour because I usually come here with my parents since they love this place and they kinda just pay for everything :3 BUT! Being a college student and an ultimate foodie, deals on food are what's keeping me and my bank account on good terms. When I went for HH for the first time, my boyfriend and I got a sh*tload of food considering the prices were so reasonable, plus we wanted to try a lot of different things. We got the sesame chicken, tofu salad, rose roll, alaskan roll, tempura california roll, and even finished it off with a serving of tempura green tea ice cream! ...And basically we ended our meal knowing that we would be coming here over Octopus to get our sushi fix. The service and ambience of the restaurant is also up to par with my idea of classy! (;

Meh. Best word to describe the food here would be bland. Went here for lunch today. Ordered tamago sushi. Not very good - strangely watery. Got beef sukiyaki as my main. The broth was very sweet and flavorful but the ingredients were not (tasted like the ingredients weren't really cooked in the broth just added in). The onions were thick and completely raw (inedible). My husband got the tonkatsu lunch bento. Pork was fried well but the tempura was, again, bland and the potato was raw in the middle. On the upside employees were very personable and service was good. I might go here again if someone else wanted to but I wouldn't choose to go back.

We come here quit often. Favorite things to order: Miso Soup, Tuna Tartare and Chicken Wings for appetizers Specialty Rolls: Lotus on Fire, Alaskan Roll, Rainbow Roll, Geisha Roll and the Sunkissed Roll. Service is always great and food is good. No complaints just happy sushi eaters. We come on Christmas Day one year. Yes, they're open on Christmas Day.

Ate here last week for lunch and had their sashimi lunch special and got food poisoning shortly after. It was so bad I almost went to the ER. DONT EAT HERE! I'll definitely be contacting the health department on this place.

Service is friendly. Sushi is very fresh and cuts are generous. I like the Red Mask Club (frequent customer program) that offers birthdays discounts.

I'm giving this place one star because the sushi is good however.... There was a caterpillar inside my edamame. Unfortunately, I found out through the sour taste in my mouth and immediately spit it out and showed what was left of the caterpillar to our waitress. When we received our bill it was for the FULL price! There was a bug in my food... it's common courtesy to comp your bill. I didn't expect free but at least 20% off would have shown that they valued my experience. I will never go back again. They didn't even try to make it right and that's what ruined it for me.

  • Ruby M.

Really disappointed. The receptionist explained us that all of their Sushi chefs and Asian waiters are Koreans. It's okay but... Since I am from Japan and used to the authentic Sushi, I can never tolerate these Korean arranged Sushi which has sooo much red pepper. I couldn't tolerate. I had been having a stomachache at that night and next day after this dinner.

Came in tonight with my boyfriend. Two hostess' on duty, yet we waiting along with another family who had been standing there for god knows how long. The first seat we were put in was dirty, the seats are getting worn out. My boyfriend was sitting at a slant. We asked for a different table so we were sat diagonal from where we were before. I sat on the booth side, the seat was absolutely filthy. I sat in rice and whatever else. Our server was never around. My boyfriends drink came after we got our meals. We ordered two bowls of rice. And still haven't received them. We're now done with our meals. Service is usually excellent, but it is horrible tonight.

Solid spot for a gluten-free eater. Everything applicable from the regular menu is cut and pasted into a gluten-free specific page on the menu, making it easy to order comfortably. Even a little cross-contamination leaves me feeling awful within the hour, but 3 hours later I'm still full, but not sick! Most surprised because my GF veggie ramen noodles were amazing, I don't know if it's just been a while since I've had the real thing or if they really were indistinguishable from regular wheat noodles. Definitely gotta commend the guys in the back for that. I only have minor complaints, but enough to dock a point. Like the last time I was here, we were left waiting by the front with no acknowledgement for a few minutes, on what looked like a mild evening. Servers walked by, chefs glanced, no one gave any word or signal to anyone around them; communication seemed disjointed. My other complaint is that nothing in the drinks menu was labeled GF. With the help of my phone I was able to find out which ones I could have before our server came back to take our drink order. Some brands that are well accepted and recognized safe, like Sho Chiku Bai (shown here: takarasake.com/faq-h.php ), it'd be nice if we were made aware. Also, having to ask for soy sauce to be brought to the table after we get our sushi is kind of annoying, but still not enough to bother me. tl;dr: everything was delicious, and I'm grateful I can get awesome ramen that's gluten-free.

Good happy hour sushi, good device...what else can I say? The dynamite roll is perfect with a tall Asahi.

What I thought would be a great idea for dinner, wasn't. Teddy the server had attitude. He'd rather talk with the other employees than tend to his tables. Chatty Teddy chatted it up for a while before coming back to take our order. Not like the place was busy tonight with only 4 tables with customers. Normally, the service is good with the server offering suggestions. But not tonight. The manager on the floor seemed not too care either since he was one of those chatting it up by the bar with Teddy. Dinner took a while to get to us too. I suggest you don't come on a night when server Teddy and his mgr friend (don't know his name cause he's not wearing a name badge) or you'll set yourself up for disappointment.

My fiancé and I love going here every week for date night. The ambience is great, they have a pretty large menu, it's close to home, and the service is wonderful. Especially when we get Chris. We come here so often that he's pretty familiar with us already. So much so, that within minutes of being seated he's already brought us the sake that we normally order and my water without ice :) You can't beat that. And he remembers other things as well. I guess it's always very nice to get that little bit of special treatment and recognition from a business you visit so frequently.

I love their happy hour!!! It's from Monday-Thursday 9-10:30p and Sunday from 8p-close. Prices are great during these times :)

I tried the shrimp tempura roll and the peach saketini. The prices were really good since it was happy hour, the rolls were like half off. It was really tasty.

No NO NO! Kabuki is definitely a chain Sushi restaurant. Sashimi is NOT fresh. It's dried out from being refrigerated too long. Edemae had too much garlic. If I am going to eat sushi and sashimi I definitely want to taste the freshness of the fish. And this place doesn't have it. Corporate chains are bad.

I love kabuki! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. I usually get a dragon roll or crunch roll and it's been delicious every single time. They also have a good udon soup that I would recommend! My only complaint with this place is that the service is typically slow but they are also really busy. If you're looking for sushi I would pick this place!

LOVED IT! Their service is excellent, I love how whenever one of the employees bring customers to a table, the employees would always say a greeting to the sushi chef. Let's talk about the food. The sushi that I ordered was AMAZING (Philadelphia Roll,Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll,Vegas Roll, Dynamite, and Alaskan Roll) All were super good but the ones that I thought was A MUST, would be Alaskan and Vegas Roll. The drink that I ordered was Iced Green Tea and it was "The Bomb". The place was pretty nice and well-decorated :). I'd recommend this place for date nights or group hangouts. Enjoy!

First time here- love the selection of Specialty Rolls! The seafood is so fresh. I started with Tako and Salmon sushi and finally decided on the Sunkissed Roll! The Spicy Ahi was flavorful and the sliced Salmon and Avo on the top was perfect ! They have a fabulous cocktail selection for Sake's to a nice wine list. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was attentive! Will definitely come back with my serious sushi loving friends!

The food is good but not good enough to keep me coming back with their service. There are plenty of other places that offer higher quality sushi within a reasonable driving distance. Pros: -Good Happy Hour -Firecracker Appetizer -Short Ribs -Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll Cons: -Overpriced -Spicy Miso Ramen - I had this recommended to me by a few people and the server as well, but I found it to be lacking in flavor. -Service here needs serious work. My party was seated in the back patio room and was pretty much completely forgotten. We had to go into the restaurant EVERYTIME we needed something. When we ordered sake and beer, the server brought us out the beer and told us that he would be bringing the sake out shortly. Halfway into the meal, still no sake.We had to tell the food runner to please get our server. Our waters were never refilled. It got really frustrating, especially when we were trying to get the bill and no one came to the back. If you're going to seat customers in the patio, don't forget about them!!

This is my husbands and I's favorite spot in OC. I always order the Vegas roll and the hubby enjoys the Geisha roll. Their happy hour is a great deal. For drinks I like to order their house mojito. It's sweet and smooth with a nice kick.

I think this is the only location with happy hour from 8pm-10pm close!! Usually its 3pm-6pm. Includes edamame with any sushi order. Also are you a Red Mask Member? Its free. When you join, you get a free card. Sign up online and enter your information. Every year near your birthday, they'll send you a reminder to use your free birthday $15 that can only be used ON YOUR BDAY and 30days after. Weird because usual places say before you bday. It can not be used on happy hour BUT you can come during happy hour.....order happy hour, but order $15 worth not happy hour stuff. I posted photos of the happy hour menu. Not located at Brea Mall, just near it. Its in the same plaza as Target. P.S. Love their tempura fried ice cream. Recommend the Alaskan roll for happy hour. Service is excellent.

My favorite place for sushi. Kabuki offers a clean environment, a friendly and attentive staff, and most importantly - great food. I've been coming here almost every 2 weeks for the past couple months and that's saying a lot considering I like trying new things. They're accommodating and lovely. Thanks, kabuki!

A very cool place with very tasty food. Had a great well balanced Moscacto from Langetwins winery and it went awesom with the food. Not too sweet and nice acidity. Had the NIKU KUSHIYAKI (grilled beef and peppers) and various sushi. Fresh and well made. Service from the waiter was meh...so they need to check on the guests more than once before the bill. I did like the sushi guys, they were very nice!

Thanks to my being sick and calling out on a Friday... and being in the area/plaza, I hit up Kabuki's unusually early Happy Hour (Mon - Fri 3 - 6) that I wouldn't be able to make with my normal work schedule... and besides, what better way to cure a cough than with a pint of Sapporo ($1.99). After ordering, I immediately regretted our selections.. we did a terrible job of diversifying our meal: * Spicy Tuna Roll - ...spicy tuna roll. Not bad, nothing special. * Spicy Tuna Crunch Roll - they be stingy on the avocado... I tasted a hint of it on one of my rolls, but it tasted ripe and fresh. * Firecracker (2 golf-ball-sized scoops of Spicy Tuna and wonton chips) - Such a versatile appetizer.. we had it with everything, including our edamame, and it still took us forever to finish this plate. * Tokyo Chicken Quesadilla (really plain gyoza filled with cheese and tiny bits of chicken) - you wouldn't miss much if you didn't order it. The leftover spicy tuna from our Firecracker saved this bland dish. We stuffed tomatoes and spicy tuna into each quesadilla. Service was good, and food wasn't bad, but I just wasn't blown away... which isn't to say I won't be back. There are some interesting, and not-so-pricey items, on their normal menu that I would like to try. And next time, the bf and I are challenging ourselves to finish a Sapporo Tower (2400mL, $12.50 HH) .. we'll just have to hide our car keys somewhere that we can find a few hours later :)

This is probably my favorite sushi place! The Alaskan Roll and Vegas Roll are outstanding! I really like this place because they have special and unique rolls that you can't find anywhere else! The Sesame Chicken appetizer is also very good! The Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Spicy Tuna are also some of my faves!

Happy Hour all the way!! I come here right after i get off of work and have about an hour to get my sushi on from 5-6 pm. An hour is plenty of time to grub. choices are somewhat limited but i love the spicy tuna rolls and Philadelphia rolls.

The family and I came here to celebrate Father's Day. Unsurprisingly the wait was about 15 minutes, and they would not take reservations even though they offered to take our name and number over the phone beforehand. To start, we had the Tokyo Quesadilla (a must have, they are a lot like mozzarella sticks), 2 orders of the Salmon Yaki Onigiri (so good, also a must have!), and a tuna collar. Most of us ordered the lunch combination special, (served from 11 to 4 and it comes with soup, salad, and rice) in particular the salmon one. It's a decent amount of food for a reasonable price. Others had the ninja (chicken) combination special and the beef one too. For dessert, we had one order of coffee mochi ice cream (only 2 pieces :( and pretty expensive too, we only got it because trader joes doesn't sell the coffee flavor. However, it was delicious!) and two orders of green tea ice cream (very generous two scoops). The service was not particularly speedy, and our server was slow to bring refills. She was very nice and friendly though. All in all a great Father's day meal, and we'll be coming back. Side note- 10% discount if you show your 24 hour fitness card!

This is the Kabuki where my brother and I had our graduation party and this is the Kabuki We go to often.. I liked how they were able to accommodate a party of 40-50. We sat in the outside patio. The food of this restaurant is consistent. We usually order the seaweed salad, Lotus on Fire roll, Alaskan Roll, and the BBQ Beef Ribs combination which comes with tempura and a side salad. I really like their sushi. The BBQ ribs are flavorful and tender. We also tried their Spicy Tuna salad because the waitress recommended it when they ran out of Seaweed salad. It had a good amount of spicy tuna on it and the spicy tuna wasn't that spicy. The salad was fresh. The service here is good and the waiters/waitresses are attentive. The pricing is reasonable for what you get. We usually come here for reverse happy hour. I also like their tempura ice cream because it was huge but the downside is that it melted when it came to our table good for sharing with a party of four. I would recommend this place.

We had to wait at least 10 minutes for our waiter to come..and we were waited by a different waiter because our initial waiter was too busy!! The sushi is good but the service wasn't..maybe they had a bad evening. They even ran out of water cups so we had to wait another 10 minutes for our water. The specialty rolls are pretty good. The lobster roll was interesting because it's raw!

I have been going to Kabuki Brea for well over a year and I have enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the service. I have entertained guests there as well as gone there after a gym workout to enjoy a glass of wine, with a tofu dish and sushi, or a Chinese chicken salad...for a protein boost. But I often go there just to enjoy their various sushi, sashimi and entree dishes...... and the service! I have come to expect high quality food and service, and I have never been disappointed! The most recent staff addition is Jessica, a floor manager who has charm, and whose personality adds to Kabuki's corporate goals of customer satisfaction. She very professional and I do appreciate her personal touch. She has an infectious smile guys, so be careful. :) Kyle, the manager of Kabuki Brea was spot on when he said she very nice. Actually, Kyle makes it a point to greet me every time I visit. He is a great manager and I appreciate the fact that he takes the time from his busy schedule to talk to me. The sushi chefs know their craft and deliver consistent, high quality sushi dishes every single order. I have never been disappointed and I have tried almost every sushi dish they have. The wait staff is young, energetic and quite knowledgable. They always greet me when I sit at the bar to eat and watch the games on their HDTV. I know you will enjoy the food, the atmosphere and the service. Great for date night or just hanging out to watch MNF! Tell them Jim recommended Kabuki Brea. Check out Jessica's smile guys. One final thought, join the Red Mask Club to acquire points for your food orders. Enjoy!

I pretty much come here for reverse happy hour only (9-closing). The rolls are priced well and the drinks are cheap. Sake and beer or chu-hi drinks for sure. Great for after work or school. Consistent quality and good prices. Mango chu-hi tastes way better than the lychee one. The kabomb is always a favorite if you want sake and beer... or sake bomb. Not a fan of sake much but I still drink it haha. The rolls are all delish. I really like the Alaska roll and the Vegas roll. The Alaska is a California roll with baked salmon on top. The Vegas has raw salmon, avocado, crab, cream cheese, and cucumber in it and the whole thing is fried like tempura. I usually don't like cream cheese but it is such a small amount so it balances everything really well. Everything is pretty good. My 3 friends split a kabomb, sake, and three rolls and paid $12 each including gratuity. Pretty decent in my opinion. The waitress... Jasmine(?) was really attentive to our large group and let us all pay separate checks without giving us attitude. She was great at letting us know when last call was and made sure we all got our drinks and rolls. Great service tonight.

Mid-meal break. Warning: this review is not for the squeamish!!!! (I'm warning you!) With that said... I've been to this Kabuki location a few times and the food tastes fine. My friends and I come here for happy hour and usually order an array of rolls accompanied by some hot sake. Hot sake isn't bad considering the happy hour price and the rolls are not amazing, but they're decent. So here's the problem. Every time I eat here, I have to stop halfway through my meal and run to the restroom. The mid-meal break is not a pleasant one as it results in some serious #3 action. It's not that my body can't handle sushi OR sake because those are staple foods in my diet. Also, this doesn't happen at other Kabuki restaurants I've been to. Why?! I don't understand. However, there is a benefit to this. It allows me to eat more. Call me a masochist if you must, but I keep coming back. Dynamite Roll, Sunkissed Roll, Lotus on Fire, and their tempura ice cream -- what are you doing to me?

I came here with a couple of my friends for lunch. Check in on Foursquare for a free hot tea or a miso soup. The sushi here is great :) The Kabuki special (not sure if that's what it was called...) was a nice representation of everything they had to offer, and pretty much gave you a variety of different sushis without overwhelming you with an entire bowl. The waitress was friendly and helpful, and even though she had never seen the Foursquare deal before, she still honored the coupon. Come with friends for happy hour for reasonably priced sushi! Clean, nice environment with a happy vibe going around because the clientele tends to be on the older end of the spectrum (like mid-age adults, not grandparents lol). One of the better sushi places in Brea! :)

The Happy Hour deals are decent. There are appetizers that start at $5.95. I got the sesame chicken and it was tasty. The server was quick to ask for drink orders. We ordered the Vegas Roll, Alaskan Roll, and Spicy Tuna Roll. They were ok, but I thought the baked salmon on the Alaskan Roll was kind of hard. They give complimentary edame, but they don't give it to you until your whole party is here. The atmosphere is nice and they take reservations ahead of time.

Kabuki is absolutely yummy! I am a vegetarian and most of the time I have trouble finding veggie friendly restaurants. and I am proud to say Kabuki has a huge variety. Delicious soups. I totally recommend the miso mushroom soup. the tempura veggie roll is also delish. not to mention the deserts. green tea ice cream!!

I came here with my friend tonight and ordered beer. They took my beer away because I forgot to bring my ID. Well, and then I had a sip of my friend's beer, you know what? The manager came to me and warned me not to drink even my friend's beer. What a terrible place.

I enjoy coming here for lunch they have great deals versus if you come for dinner. The beef shorts rib are so tender my gosh they practically just fall apart in your mouth. The short rib combo comes with some salad rice tempura vegetables you can't go wrong for what it cost.

We came on a Saturday evening and ordered a few sushi rolls: Kabuki roll, Hamachi sushi box, and spicy tuna on crispy rice for $26 (Used RMC $15 off anniversary) - Free edamame - Kabuki roll: 7 tempura sushi pieces each with a different topping, spicy tuna, salmon eggs, fish roe, salmon, tuna, hamachi, and something. lol - I never knew that salmon cavier can be so salty! - Spicy tuna on crispy rice: actually an appetizer. love the crispy rice. recommend! - Hamachi sushi box: topped with hamachi sandwiched salmon. It breaks into pieces when you use chopsticks - Being a legit level chain, I'd expect nicer chopsticks! Masta splinter! yeouch! -Presentation was nice. Nothing over the top but also not lame looking. Pretty little hibiscus flower with my kabuki! Better be right? It's their signature roll! - Sides: bug in water and the water tastes like garlic. - RMC doesn't add rewards. Used separately. - $15 off one yr anniversary and $15 off birthday. Expires within 30 days. - I usually come for happy hour 3-6 and reverse from 9-12. As cheap as $3. Must get fire cracker and spicy tuna salad. - I've been to Vegas Town Center and its consistent. During a lunch break on a Thursday, I Ordered the Kabuki deluxe and a sapporo for $5 (Used RMC $15 off birthday) - 12oz Sapporo for 1.95 for April! Yahoo! - Kabuki deluxe: teriyaki chicken, ribs, cali roll and fried tempura. ribs had lots of bone. chicken needs more teriyaki. 1 fried shrimp tempura. - Okay to use RMC for lunch specials! Just not on HH or R-HH

This is a nice Japanese joint on a strip mall across the street from Brea Mall and within walking distance if you are staying at the Embassy Suite across the street. The décor is modern and the vibe is excellent. We came here for lunch and tried their lunch specials, and I ended up getting the Tonkatsu special with various Tempuras. It came with miso soup, salad, and rice on the side, brown rice is available too. The soup was decent and the salad was good too. The Tonkatsu served with a cucumber and mustard paste on top of them, which give a kick to the pork cutlet flavors and goes well with the regular tonkatsu sauce. Best of all, the meal was not even that pricey. Kabuki seems like a promising Japanese joint in this area, and service was excellent. It is a place definitely worth a revisiting for me to try other items on their menu.

Great service and great food! Our waitress was amazing! Even though we had a small table, she was able to put all our food on the table! Arrived around 7:30 on Saturday evening, we didn't even have to wait! Great drinks as well! My all time favorite albacore roll!

Teddy was out waiter this last visit. And it's was a more enjoyable experience. Superb service, he memorized our entire order. The must haves are the Chilean sea bass dinner, Alaskan rolls and Green tea fried ice cream for dessert. Happy hour is a better deal too. For superb service request Teddy.

I'm giving Kabuki only 3 stars for now. I will admit I don't eat sushi and so I shouldn't be writing a review for a sushi place. But, from what I did order, it was good. The ambience is great and light, and the sushi bar is actually enjoyable enough to sit at. The reason for only 3 stars is because of, not one, but TWO hairs found in my food when it was delivered to it. I'm not one to be grossed out, but the hairs were pretty thick and noticeable. Definite miss by the chefs and our server. I'm willing to try this place again and will raise or lower my rating according to the next experience. For now, I say give it a shot. Servers are great and friendly. Food is good and of high quality. Prices are about average for sushi restaurants.

Two words... Lobster Dynamite! I found my new favorite sushi dish and I have eaten alot of sushi. Tender lobster, lightly fried mushrooms n onions in a creamy mushroom sauce... OMG! This was heavenly. 20 minute wait by hostess was actually 2 minutes... Whatevah. Joon our server took care of biz. Decent atmosphere. Also try the red chili 'Samba' sauce along with the wasabi to add a different spicy angled kick to each bite. Good soft shell crab roll too...

So I've been to a Kabuki once in Cerritos a long time ago and wasn't impressed enough to attempt another visit. This one seemed Ok but again not terribly impressed. Everything was just ok. The sashimi salad was kinda not great. The pieces...chunks rather...were cut disproportionately and had a very sloppy look and some of the pieces were a little hard to chew. The rolls were ok. Good thing a law school friend invited me and paid. :)

It's sad that this place doesn't have better reviews cus it's probably in my top five favorite places to get sushi. Some people who are avid sushi eaters may disagree but it's probably because I'm more of a roll lover than a sashimi lover. So if you're anything like me and aren't big on the raw fish, this is the place to go! I also think it's great that they're offering a vegetarian selection now. Also, if you're on a low carb diet, you can ask them to substitute the rice for a cucumber wrap! It tastes better than it sounds and they can do it for most rolls! My absolute favorites are the alaskan roll and lotus roll, really good! My mom complains that they put too much sauce/mayo on it but it doesn't really bother me. I've also tried their yellow tail kama, the salmon and beef combos, fried chicken appetizer, as well as their udon dishes but of everything, I think it's better to order rolls here. That's what they're known for after all! Sometimes the food takes awhile to get to you but for the most part, I leave with satisfaction. I even came for my seventeeth birthday dinner because I like it so much. They gave me a complimentary green tea ice cream which was delicious! And if you're curious about their dessert selection, I recommend the tempura ice cream! It's a pretty big portion size though so I suggest bringing a couple friends to help you finish!

I've been coming here to Kabuki a little over a month now and i love it! This place is super hip, modern and totes chic for a Japanese restaurant. This Kabuki here in Brea is SUPER crowded on weekends so you should stop by here during weekdays! They have this thing here called "reverse happy hour" which is like from 9- close on weekdays and theyre really helpful. I doubt the offer it on weekends though! So heres to the fun part, when you are starting your way to your table, everyone screams and greets you (even from all the way across the room) to welcome you in and they totally put you on the spotlight LOL its funny though watching customers come in and watch their reactions when it happens to them! I recommend the tonkatsu plate! It's really yummy and coated fully with bread crumbs, also it comes with a really great portion for the price. Also, their sushi plates here come in 6 pieces which is a little odd to me because im really used to getting 8 all the time at other Japanese restaurants. The workers here always rotate and i never see my past waiter/ waitress, idk maybe they got fired or something HAHAH jk! But all the workers here are really young and chill. The only downfall of this place is that its really packed at dinner time and all the workers are literally running around to serve everyone and its kind of overwelhming. All their sushi plates are superb and look oh-so delicious so don't get too overwhelmed when you get the menu and can't decide what to order! I really enjoy it here and nothing has gone wrong................... so far.... with my orders, drinks, service! BTW, sign up for rewards, you get a $15 coupon on your birthday which expires at the end of whatever month that is (So, youre screwed if youre birthday is like mine & is the 31st) Enjoy here and don't forget about the happy hour AND reversed happy hour! Bye Jasmine

I've been to the location in Cerritos & I've always loved it! There's nothing really bad to say about this location other than the bathrooms had no toilet paper. The rolls my friend & I ordered were great. The fried tofu there is probably what I look forward to the most every time I come & It's super clean & the waiters are super nice.

Lunch is definitely the best time to go here. The menu items are not too expensive especially considering the tasty and fresh foods served. I would greatly suggest getting the boat coarse for lunch...however, it requires two people to order. The spare rib was cooked to perfection. The tempura was crispy but a tad over battered. And the rolls were pretty spot on. My only complaint is that the chicken was a little bland and dry. For the most part, the food was delicious.

This location of Kabuki is super small, compared to the one in HB, near the Whole Foods. I came here late at night, so I didn't have to wait, but I would expect that you'd probably have to wait awhile if you came during a more busy hour. My fiance and I recently pigged out on their massive boat, which was basically a crazy assortment of your typical bento box items (chicken teriyaki, beef short ribs, tempura, california roll, etc.). It was decent, but I've definitely had better Japanese food. Plus, it was still quite pricey and some of the meats were a bit dry. The waitresses here are also pretty forgetful, as we had to remind them to bring a few items more than once. They have a decently cheap late night HH, which is great if you're into Japanese beer and if you want just a few small appetizers. Otherwise, this place is definitely just A-OK in my book!

Great sushi! Great prices and happy hour. Cool environment in the dining room and outside patio. Service staff was genuine and friendly, but there was a general dysfunction of operation in the restaurant. We literally had like 4 different people serving us,taking orders, and the I had to get up to find someone to run my card for the bill. I ordered a water and never got it. It took 10-15 minutes to even get beverages on our table in the first place. Not a deal breaker but it could have been better service for sure. I saw all these staff people chatting inside as if they were all on break but oh well. I would go back, cuz the food is great. Lost a star for only fair service, not reflective of the higher prices.

I want to like this place I really really do but I just can't. I've given it multiple shots and each and every time I'm very disappointed! The service is just plain awful. The servers calmly walk around talking to each other with no sense of urgency ever! I myself am a server so I always like to give them the benefit of the doubt but in this case it's very clear that they just don't care or like to make money. Shame on me I guess for going back more than once.

Kabuki is a decent sushi place. My favorite items here are the albacore crunch roll, and the kabuki roll. The ponzu sauce that comes with the crunch roll is what really sold it to me. Ponzu is a lighter, citrus-infused soy sauce. The Kabuki roll is good if you want a variety. I ordered some mixed tempura today but some pieces were a bit soggy which was disappointing. I would have given them four stars anyways but I subtracted one for service. Their service is slow, and I can see the rolls piling up at the sushi bar. Then our order proceeds to sit there, and our server is nowhere to be found. They also forgot my order once. Overall it's a okay sushi place, but I wouldn't come to Brea just for Kabuki.

Came here for happy hour with the girls ! SO cheap and good for a chain restaurant!! For checking into yelp, we got a free sesame chicken appetizer. I ordered a spicy tuna and salmon roll. The spicy tuna wasn't as spicy as I had expected it to be but still good. Spicy tuna is one of my favorite rolls and I always order it when I get sushi so I know what good spicy tuna rolls taste like. Our waiter forgot to bring out my salmon roll and my friend's vegas roll. We had to remind him twice before he brought them out. The salmon inside the roll was fresh as it should of been since we waited a while to get them. The vegas roll is deep fried with cream cheese inside. My friend really liked it. We also got a few other rolls and they all were all pretty good. One of my other friends had substituted her white rice for brown rice. I thought it was pretty cool how they were able to do that. I also liked how they had so many vegetarian options. It's hard to find places that have vegetarian sushi options. The ambiance was perfect for a girls night out ;) We will definitely be coming back here again for their happy hour !

When you walk in there isn't someone to greet you right away so you have that awkward moment not knowing if you can sit anywhere or if someone will assign you a table. There is Indoor and patio dinning. The food came out in a timely manner the portion size is more than generous. The drinks were not my favorite but was alright. The server took longer than I liked to get our order. Wouldn't recommend for a date but more so with family and friends

I love Kabuki for their happy hour! Sushi is good, decent priced, and I love me a good Sapporo beer tower!

Overall, this place is pretty good. The host was very nice when greeting us. We sat at the bar . The first thing I noticed is how clean this place is kept which is always a good sign. Our servers name was teddy . He would always say my pleasure after everything . He had very good manners and was very helpful. He didn't intrude on the meal and came at just the right times. The guy working the sushi bar was young and had glasses . He was also very nice and helpful. He would check on us and ask how our food was . He was attentive . We ordered some nigiri- which all melted in our mouths we loved it. We also ordered the fire cracker , the salmon skin roll, spicy tuna and philly. For drinks we had beer and I got one called a Tokyo mojito . It has cucumbers in it and has a very light refreshing taste ! I loved it. I would come back for their happy hour again

Kabuki is our absolute favorite place to eat! The Vegas roll and Alaska Roll are amazing! My wife and I frequent their happy hour and reverse happy hour (9-close). For great sushi, there prices are great, and they have a great rewards program.

Been coming here almost once (sometimes twice!) a week now for the past few months! I've had a lot of different sushi in the area (including the smaller less known places) and for the money, quality, and service, this is my go-to place hands down! It's a wonderful place to go with a really lovely atmosphere (including patio seating for nice days) and a sushi bar. The workers and chefs here are top notch, too. The prices are pretty good and the selection is great. The appetizers and entrees are really well priced and come with a good amount of food. The presentation is also great! If you come here, I recommend coming on one of the happy hour or reverse happy hour nights. They have really good prices on sushi and drinks as well. I also recommend trying the "Pyramid Roll" and the "Gold Rush Roll". Both of those are my favorites!

I was impressed. When driving to meet some friends here I was actually under the impression that we were going somewhere else, But this location was very nice. despite the fact that they were closing soon, we were still promptly seated, and we were informed when the bar and kitchen would be closing (if we wanted to get any orders in before that happened.) everything was decorated with traditional japanese art and sculptures. the food was great. and I don't think that I can really think of ANYTHING negative to say about this location. I would Highly Recommend this restaurant if you are in the mood for traditional Japanese cuisine. 5/5

Atmosphere: A+ nice painting and positive vibe. Will be back!

the employees are careless and very rude! When I came in they did not greet us, I came in with one of my friends, two kids and an infant and they told us the wait would be about 20 min. After patiently waiting 35 min I asked how much longer and they said table would be ready shortly. There was 4 groups that came after us and they got seated before us, we waited another 10 minutes or so, and did I say I was with 2 very hungry impatient boys? I look around and there's some empty tables.. I was getting very impatient as well so I asked the front desk how much longer... So they say we have to wait for a six seat table to open up.. then one of them goes to the other workers and starts talking about us rudely ( I know because they all kept looking at us), when I saw that I got so heated up and just walked right out then came to the Cerritos branch location and let me tell you even though they were busy they still had a smile on there face and were friendly! I hope the manager from brea location reads this and has a talk with the staff about how to treat customers! Btw over heard the workers in the front talking smack about the managers as well.. not cool man not cool.

Nice clean restaurant, friendly attentive service. The appetizer Garlic Edamame is pretty darn tasty with just the right balance of garlic and salt. I ordered the Salmon Teriyaki since the chef said it was fresh. I'm pretty sure it wasn't fresh. The Shiro Miso soup was standard and the salad was just ok. The servings were generous and I give it points for value. One of the guests in our group had a Kabuki rewards card, so its nice that they have a loyalty card for the frequent visitors. Authentic Japanese Food? Close.

Love this place! My husband brought me here for lunch and I had this platter with tuna sushi salmon and California rolls. Then I discovered reverse happy hour and their giant crab salad for only 5!! So good and the staff is always friendly :) will keep coming back

Good food. I was starving and was dying for some sushi. This is my first time here and wasn't disappointed. Guess my craving made the sushi taste better but I would come back and try it again. Oh yeah between 5 people we finished or I finished 8 rolls so we will see next time.

I frequent this specific Kabuki at least once a week simply because it is conveniently located a two minute drive from my place. At this rate, I should have had mercury poisoning or been branded a traitor for choosing convenience over supporting hole-in-the-wall establishments. Anyway, I first decided to give Kabuki a shot a week after they opened and was pleasantly surprised at the the attractive decor, kind staff, and great service. Happy hour on Mondays-Fridays from 3-7 is always a plus as well... On my first visit, I had the tofu salad with bonito flakes and a sesame dressing. It was decent and the bonito flakes were overly abundant. I've definitely had better but the texture of the tofu was silky and the greens were fresh so I was content. I also tried the Vegas roll which basically consisted of salmon, cream cheese, imitation crab, and avocado wrapped and deep fried. For the happy hour price of $3.95 for the tofu salad and $5.95 for the sushi roll, it was not bad. On a different occasion, we were craving something warm and comforting so we decided to give their udon a shot. I ordered the tempura udon which was pretty good! The broth had great, balanced flavor. It was extremely filling and the mixed tempera of shrimp, green beans, carrots, and potato (?) accompanied the soup well. $10.95. Today, we sat at the sushi bar and I had the unagi, albacore, baked scallop, and lobster roll. I was seriously craving seafood and felt like being a fatty. I loved the unagi nigiri. It had great texture because it wasn't too soft nor flimsy. It was flavorful and has always been my staple dish at every Japanese restaurant. The albacore nigiri was a hit as well... buttery and fresh. The baked scallop was decent.... and didn't quite stand out. The lobster roll contained baked lobster meat and avocado, wrapped and dressed in masago with some sort of mayo dressing drizzled atop. The lobster was fresh and pretty tasty. When it is happy hour and we're craving sushi, this is our to-go spot. Plus, my pad is so close that before we know it, we're comfortably napping due to food coma.

A solid 3.5 star place for me. I like this place more for aesthetic purposes and ambiance. Service is fairly consistent; they check up on you a couple times. There's always ample parking. I have not tried the happy hour yet, but I've been told that it's best to go then. The food I've had here so far has always been too salty for me, especially the chasiu ramen and their miso soup.

Yelp deleted my previous review because someone flagged it, why I have no idea. This was despite the fact that I PAID for dinner and reviewed my dinner and the UYE separately. So rather than attempting to regurgitate all that information a second time I will instead just say that the restaurant was good but not good to the point where I would drive all the way out to Brea just to eat here.

I love their fire cracker and spicy tuna crunch roll. Their spicy tuna is not over seasoned, so you still can taste the natural sweetness from Tuna. One of the best spicy tuna that I ever had.

A BEE CRAWLED OUT OF MY SEAWEED SALAD!!!! Worst experience I've ever had eating at a restaurant. About 1/2 way through the meal my daughter has a look of panic on her face and starts pointing at the seaweed salad we are both eating. I look and see a large black bee crawling out from under the greens. We both stood up, shouted something like 'there's a bee', and started to back away. We looked around for a wait staff person. NO ONE would pay any attention to us...... they all had walked or looked the other way. Finally the bus person comes and grabs the bee. He puts it in a tub with dirty dishes and said to me, "It's just a bee", to which my daughter said, "What if she had bit into it and she was allergic to bees?" The bus person didn't reply, but the manager promptly came over with the check. He sort of apologized saying he didn't know how the bee got in there, and quickly focused on the bill. He said that he took the salad off the bill and discounted some other items and gave me our check for $23. I said I wasn't paying for a meal that came with bees and that we couldn't finish. Then I offered to only pay for the glass of Happy Hour wine that I had and so he took my money for the $4 glass of wine. That was all...... No goodbye..... No so sorry for the inconvenience... Not even a coupon for a free meal with bees for next time..... Terrible manager, terrible place.... I wish I could say this is exaggerated.

came to this location twice during my lunch breaks and i love it. other kabukis are as good (food wise), but the service at other locations are horrible. maybe its because i'm lucky or maybe because i go during lunch? but i don't care because i got great service both times from the same waiter lol. i want to go to their happy hour, but from the other reviews it seems to end at 6 which does not make me happy since i end work around that time. but i will come back for lunch again and probably check it out during dinner. 1st time @ kabuki: i ordered the omakase deluxe ($12.95/lunch combo) which includes a piece of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp, albacore and a 6 piece spicy tuna roll, which also included soup and salad. I thought for the amount of sushi it was reasonably priced, however it wasn't worth the money. The fish was good, but the sushi rice was not too appetizing, but overall it was a good meal. 2nd time @ kabuki: i ordered the salmon teriyaki with shrimp and vegetable tempura ($9.95/lunch combo) now this meal was worth the price. it also includes white or brown rice, salad, and soup. the salmon was cooked perfectly and the amount of teriyaki sauce was perfect. the prices for lunch are great, but for dinner all the entrees are about $5 more...i hope the portions are bigger for dinner because if it isn't it's definitely not worth it. can't wait to update this review after happy hour :] if i can make it :( lol

We had a great dinner here with friends - the atmosphere was very nice and all of our sushi arrived at our table in a timely manner and was beautifully presented. Everything tasted fresh and the prices were really reasonable. We particularly liked the Lotus on Fire Roll which was super tasty. I have also had the Anago Tempura Roll during another visit and that one is also a favorite. It is always nice to get something that is a little different than what most sushi restaurants offer. Service is great and parking is a breeze. We will definitely be back!

As a note to accuracy I ate here11/02/10 Kabuki, another ethnic chain restaurant. Which already screams ordinary and cookie cutter. The food is average, nothing to blow your hair back. They have a typical menu of: sushi, hot items, and noodles. To there attributes they have an adequate happy hour in the eyes of the college student in the area, I would expect more from a happy, but I am difficult to please. The location is clean, and the waiters are nice yet somewhat attentive. I can not say anything negative about this location aside from that fact it is a chain it is NOT special. So if you're just looking for a place to eat some ethnic Japanese food while in Brea, and you're a big chicken about being adventurous. You just absolutely only like things that are Americanized Kabuki is a good spot. I have to say I was much more impressed with Crocodile Cafe, the restaurant that was in the location spot previous Kabuki.

I have been to the Kabuki in Cerritos. I guess this one is slightly better just because the parking here isn't a complicated as it is in Cerritos. I usually come here with my family and we order one of the boats (if we're hungry) but since they have increased the price, we don't order it. However the past couple of times we just ordered sushi al carte and one of the entrees. Sushi here is okay, it taste good but some items can be overpriced. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful. I think the main reason we come back is because the wait staff is good at what they do. Friday and weekends it may get crowded. The last time I was here was a while ago, but it was on a Saturday afternoon, close to when they opened and no wait. What is good is they do take reservations or you may not have to wait long for a table.

Kabuki is a great place for fresh sashimi - They have some very creative rolls and entrees. We always have an excellent meal. They are not inexpensive, but worth the price! Service is very good and the employees are friendly. We also have a Kabuki card to earn points. Good atmosphere - not usually very busy for lunch.

I love the food here so that why I keep coming back but my compliant is that the service is bad. The are super slow and don't really greet you. I had to ask twice for a menu last night at dinner and drinks as well. As I read other reviews it seems like people agree. Come on management get on this.

I was so excited that I found a Japanese restaurant that stays open late. Weekdays this place closes at 10:30 PM and weekends it closes at 10 PM. Here's what we ordered: (1) Tuna roll with brown rice - rice was a little hard but it was still good (2) salmon teriyaki entree - comes with salad, miso soup, and rice. Unfortunately the salmon was more like chicken, chewy! (3) Miso soup - seemed like it was instant, no seaweed and little tofu (4) Side house salad - delicious! SERVICE: the servers seemto work in a team effort, our server was also the bar tender so we only saw him about 3 times (to take our order, check on us once, and refil my water). He forgot my side salad so we had to try and get someones attention which was difficult! But it still came. I still like this place because the food is good and it stays open late.

Been a few times because a) it's close and b) the happy hour menu is decent. Yesterday's visit was just the worst. The food isn't terrible, but the service at this place is laughable. The BF ordered a Miller Light because it was dirt cheap on their happy hour menu. We wait 15 minutes for it only for the waitress to come back to tell us that the deal is not for this state and apparently it's in a tiny font on the menu. (So why the hell don't you just take off the menu if it's not even IN this state?) So she suggests Bud Light instead. Sure, whatever. BF orders 2 because she said it's last call for happy hour. We get the bill and it's in full price. Something stupid like $6 per bottle. For Bud Light? Are you f'ing kidding me? Apprently, Bud Light isn't even on the happy hour menu at all. Sure, big misunderstanding. Would've been nice if she had told us right away or offer something that IS on the menu. Wouldn't have been a big deal at all if she didn't start blaming us for the misunderstanding and refused to get it fixed. The manager then comes out to try "fix" the situation. Listen, just change the price of the Bud Light, it's really not that hard. They apparently couldn't because there's one set button for a price and refuses to change it. She ends up switching some numbers around to "help us out" but we just told her right away that the beers will be on the waitress now because it'll just go straight out of her tip. Cheers, sweetheart.

I usually go to the one in HB, but I was in Fullerton area and was craving sushi, and this place came us, so I was excited to go as it was happy hour and i love it. The sushi and some appetizers are at a discounted price! It's a great sushi fix is anyone is hungry between 3-6 M-F. They started doing closing hours happy hours, forgot what days though but 9-close. I might try that!

Greeted by a beautiful hostess I ordered some rolls to go for my sister and I. Our rainbow rolls were all delicious. I did not like the sun kist roll too much...the salmon tasted a bit too sour with the sauce they use. I would definitely come back for their happy hour

If you like it raw...make sure you beehive for Kabuki! Last time I tasted sashimi like this, I was in Japan. Bite size butter-like- pieces, slap-you-up-side-your-head-wasabi, WOW!..WOW!...did I mention WOW?? now I am from NY so good eats is what I seek out. The Beef carpacio melted in your mouth. The slices were so thin it rivals Kate Moss. Oysters were briny and tasted like it was pulled out of the water, shucked and served within seconds. *drool* Sashimi Omakase was out of this world. Kabuki, sunkissed roll, spider toll and chilean sea bass didn't stand a chance...the fish consistency was perfect. It tasted like you were eating butter. No fish smell at all... The banana tempura was lightly batter fried but the green tea ice cream completed the dish. (ok, What did we NOT order? Lychee martini, hot sake, paw paw mango hot tea and organic coffee. The items here are top grade.) I am pretty convinced that we ordered half the ocean floor. The service was unforgettable, attentive, and on POINT! (thanks Charles! We did drive you crazy but since you amused out table, hope you appreciate the tip!! LOL) I can't wait to come back....now, Charles, kindly pull out the hand truck and roll me out of here....

I normally really like Kabuki- but this visit will most likely have been my last--- I went in- the had their discount sign in the lobby, stating if you have a Fullerton ID you get a 10% discount. When I placed my ID with the bill- they stated that they no longer have that discount. I informed the server that the sign was still up, he just said "Well, sorry it is not longer active." I asked for a manager, and one was not available. I then saw him take down the sign. I had t ask twice for water with my meal. Then to top it off- the didn't even run my red mask card for my points...... best part still to come- I sent a comment in to their corporate office, and no one even responded to me. Horrible customer service. *** I will note, the sushi chefs are awesome, and always do their best. Besides the token white guy- Rex- the service staff is CRAP... keep him, keep the chefs- the rest of your staff need some serious re-training.***

THIS place is great...some of the best sushi, several locations in my area (Los Angeles County/Orange County) and reasonable prices! Highly recomend the Filet Mignon wrapped asparagus! This location is kind of compact but worth the wait if there is one.

  • Pete F.

Nicely renovated and so far doing great business. I do wonder how much of the business is from all the very attractive buy 1 get 1 free coupons circulating. Having visited 3 times, I think I've had better . . much better. First off, just forget about the teriyaki meats. They are over cooked and the texture is off. The sushi is fresh and plating is above average. However, the portions are smaller than desired and I just wasn't satisfied. I will say the service has been very professional and the decor is very nice. Just too bad the food isn't better. After a string of failed restaurants at this location, I do hope they don't suffer the same fate.

Good, fine, okay, but not great, spectacular or awesome. I would recommend going for happy hour, the deals are pretty good, otherwise I think this place is a little overpriced for what I'd consider typical run of the mill sushi at a restaurant tucked away in a strip mall setting. I go here when I'm in the area and craving a convenient happy hour meal with a friend, but I would not go out of my way to go. The ambiance matches the food--okay, but again nothing spectacular.

Whenever I say the word "kabuki", my scumbag freudian brain would think of "bukkake" and I would start giggling like a 12 year-old.... It was one of those nights that I really needed some hot sake and some sushi just for the sake of getting sushi and getting sake. Kabuki had reversed happy hour with limited selection after 9pm and it was close by to where I was at, so bukkake here I went. Sat at the bar, greeted by the chefs. Reversed menu offered 9 types of typical rolls the likes of crunchy tempura and spicy tuna. I wasn't expecting much from a chain restaurant. I ordered hot sake and 3 of the $6.95 rolls: - The Alaskan roll" stood out the most- baked salmon on top of rice, getting bukkake in bullshit creamy sauce. - The Vegas roll: some bullshit smashed up tuna meat inside a rice roll. This is like the off-the-strip Vegas of all Vegas rolls ever existed. - The Rose roll: I am so confused right now because I can't even comprehend what kind of roll that was to begin with....it was a mushy mess that had no texture or flavor whatsoever. -Krab salad: when your food is mispelled intentionally with a "k" instead of a "c", that should have been a warning. This salad was a pretty lazy creation with minced imitation crab meat piled on top of a bed of springs and cucumber and a pool of murky brown sauce. Pretty lazy, pretty bland, pretty passable. -Hot sake for $1.95 a bottle, got me warm and fuzzy enough to look past the lack of service in that restaurant. The nicest part about the meal was that I paid happy hour price for all the food, or else I would have wished godzila to stomp in and bukkake all the people who were involved in the creation of Kabuki's menu. Good lord, their food was pretty darn awful!

I personally don't think the quantity of the sushi is worth it for regular price, that's why Kabuki's happy hour offers from 3-6pm on Mondays through Fridays is my personal best option! Happy hour = generous portions, affordable price & QUALITY! My personal favorite from the appetizer is the Firecracker, which contains spicy tuna as the topping alongside with wonton chips. This appetizer alone is very filling but doesn't hit the spot, but ordering a sushi roll with this combination is PERFECT. The baked mussels were a delicacy as well. You can possibly have leftovers depending on how big your appetite is during the day you go but the best roll they offer for 5.95 is the Alaskan Roll. I tried the other discounted rolls, but they were mediocre and not as flavorful as I would like because I love my sauce! From what I remembered: Appetizers: $4.95 Hand Rolls: $2.95 Simple Rolls (ex: Cali Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls): $2.95 Specialty Rolls: $4.95 Premium Rolls: $5.95

Lychee Tokyo Mojito... I could barely taste the lychee... definitely could not taste any alcohol... It was basically club soda with a hint of lychee... Very disappointing... Gold Rush Roll... Fried California Roll.. I found the batter they used for frying to have a funny texture... Would not get this again... Garlic Scallops... The only thing that saved this place from getting a 1 star review... Scallops topped with pieces of bacon and mushroom with a garlic sauce and onion rings... Very tasty... But I will warn you, it only comes with 5 pieces of medium sized scallops... so if you're really hungry order something else.... Service was mediocre... My mojito came out 20 mins after ordering... and ugh... why did my salad come out 15 mins after my husband's... shouldn't they come out at the same time...?

For happy hour, this place can't be beat. The deliciousness-to-price ratio is quite high, and the atmosphere is quite lovely. They have a good selection of happy hour items for both drinks and foods...lots of other sushi happy hours only offer crappy pre-made California rolls and one type of beer, if any. In contrast, they have so many things here! I super enjoyed their baked green mussels...something like heaven in my mouth, served on a half shell. Oh yes. I also gobbled down some sort of spicy tuna roll concoction, and a caterpillar roll. They do not jip you on portion, and there was a mound of fish in each roll. They have fun cocktails, and I went for their Kabuki mojito, which tasted of fresh cucumber delightfulness. A mojito for $5? Show me where I can get this for cheaper than that. The beer was flowing, the fish was flying. Good times. BONUS: This appears to be a chain, so you can try and find one in your neck of the woods!

Bomb! I love how small and intimate this specific Kabuki's is. The food is always great and there sangria and berry mojitos are the best! I am always happy walking out of here! Rose roll and Shrimp tempura crunch rolls are the best!

BRYAN is his name. Do everything to avoid this chef. He is rude and uncalled for. I have gone to this location before and the sushi is actually decent. Good happy hour. After this experience I probably will never go back. He made the wrong roll and snapped at me for it. Then he slapped on spicy tuna to make the roll I ordered. When I called him out on it he got upset and was completely rude. Never once was I rude to him. I'd rather starve then have him chef for me again.

Delicious sushi and open late?? Oh and Happy Hour specials?! Ah, we are so there...with our chopsticks! ;) Every time we come here, we "strive" to try new food items, but often surrender to our usual favorites: Garlic Edamame, Sunkissed Rolls, Spicy Tuna Crunch Rolls, Spicy Tuna Rolls, and the Dragon Roll! (Ya, all of these rolls contributed to our belly & back rolls, lol...watch your rice consumption.) Oh and I usually wash it all down with tropical or green iced tea. Yum! Well, we've been here a handful of times and the food is always fresh and delicious! *drool* In terms of service, it can be a hit or miss. More often than not, the servers are really friendly, attentive and professional. However, we unfortunately have had our share of a couple servers who were the opposite. But don't let a few rotten apples spoil the whole barrel. This place is great! It's really cute with a comfortable vibe (except when a sake and/or soju filled crowd are singing happy birthday.. Not so comfortable--though entertaining). Overall, if your hunger pangs are yearning for sushi or you're in need of a "healthier" happy hour, come here! It's in the same shopping plaza as Target and TGIF, but... all the way on the right side when you're looking from Birch St. (Near 24 Hr Fitness.) It can be tricky to find, but I wouldn't want it to relocate farther from Chino. ;)

We didn't enjoy the restaurant at all. It's clear that they are not vegan/vegetarian friendly. They have recently introduced a new menu in an attempt to accommodate, but there are only three items on that menu, and they don't taste very good. Also not a good place if you have a toddler that needs to utilize a high chair. There are limited spots where they are willing/able to place the high chair. I'd hit a drive through before returning here.

I have been here two times. The food is ok but not worth the money. If you are looking for a place to go to for happy hour, this is probably a good fit. If you are looking for a more intimate dining experience, where you can hear what your date is saying to you, then this is not the place for that. The environment is too loud. The tables are too close together so that other patron's conversations intrude on your conversation and vice versa. I did not care for the intermittent loud banter between the sushi chefs and the hostess (I wasn't sitting at the sushi bar and I could still hear them loud and clear).

I'm wavering between a 3 and a 4. I do like their rolls. The sushi is good so 4 it is. The ambience is always nice.

I would give this place no stars if I could, but there food is alright. The service is very slow, and the staff is extremely unaccomadating. They do not take reservations which is extremely hard because you can't plan any occasion there. Management is very rude and a very uncaring demeanor. Never going back again.

Sushi was ok but they sushi prep was horrible. Falling apart and on some roles there was empty space inside. Wasn't too busy and a roll took 15 mins to come out.

I was disappointed in this particular Kabuki. The service was ok and the food was ok. I've dined at the one in Cerritos and Huntington Beach and was quite satisfied. First of all, don't think of making any special requests like I tried to because you will get a response of... "Sorry, we can't do that." I even had a simple request.. I asked if they can add chasu in the spicy miso ramen since it didn't come with meat. I don't think that is difficult to do. We ordered the Tuna Tataki meal. This was pretty good. The unagi hand roll was ok. I probably will not order from here anymore. The rainbow roll and albacore didn't taste fresh. Funny thing, I give the spicy miso ramen two thumbs up. I would have added another star if they added the chasu (I was willing to pay extra).

My favorite roll is the Lotus on Fire! What can I say, I'm a sucker for spicy foods. As many have already said, their service is always very slow. I've had to flag our waiter down on several occasions to place our order because they were just standing around. Once you place your order, they seem quicker and more attentive. Also, it seems they won't bring your check until you ask them for it. Overall, their food is delicious. Their fish always tastes fresh. I've had a lot of different rolls, sashimi, and tempura. All of their dishes I've had are full of flavor. If you're unsure about trying this place out, I'd recommend coming for their happy hour. There are a lot of great options to check out for nearly half the price.

A co-worker brought me here to celebrate my birthday. I didn't realize I had already been to the one in Rancho Cucamonga. The Happy Hour has great prices and a wide menu selection. My favorite of course is the SAKE and they keep it coming well you do have to ask for it. We also had the calamari which was delicious and the KBBQ ribs and the salad. I really do love eating especially when its good food like at Kabuki. The service is great as well. Our server's name was Lee and she was awesome so attentive and making sure we were ok. Can't wait for the next Happy Hour!!

The first time I went to Kabuki in Brea off of Birch street the atmosphere was decent enough for a korean owned japanese restaurant but a few flaws stuck out immediately. The sake collection was very commercial. Alot of brands that look fancy but don't really hold up to the quality and demand asked from the customers. (I've worked in legitimate japanese sushi restaurant where the staff all came from japan, there the quality was impeccable. If it wasn't perfect it wasn't worthy enough to be taken out to the customers) so I have a taste and an expectation of good looking fresh fish. And I've never sent any food back to the kitchen in my life before because i think it has to be the worst to ever do that. But when my brothers finances tuna sushi came out the fish had that look, dark dark red ( the look that fish get after 3 days in the fridge) and smelled like it was the last of the fish that they were trying to use up, and I wasn't the only one.who thought that. My brother and his fiance looked astonished that thus had come from the sushi bar. So we apologized but we sent it back. And I watched the sushi chefs expression (he looked at us and wasn't happy) so he cut the sushi again. FROM THE SAME OLD FISH !! So it looked the exact SAME!!! so instead of causing a scene that this was still unexceptional for eating we just took it and ate it. But I'll NEVER go there again. We got sick to our stomach's in the night.

These guys were at taste of Brea, and I don't remember how many spicy tuna rolls I had but needless to say they were delicious!! If it wasn't then I wouldn't have had soooo many!! Will definitely be going to see what the restaurant has to offer!

Came here with my family for happy hour. It was our first time at this Kabuki for happy hour and I was pretty excited to get good deals on good food :) Before ordering, we got complimentary edamame. My parents and I ordered two specialty rolls, two appetizers the mixed tempura and sesame chicken, two cups of sapporo beer, and a salmon teriyaki plate. The appetizers were pretty generous with portions. I was pretty full by the time we got our specialty rolls. The rolls were huge and delicious! The only two things I didn't like was that my parents' salmon teriyaki plate came pretty late in our meal. Last thing is, our waitress gave us the wrong check. Other than that, everything was great. I satisfied my sushi craving for the day.

this place, being so close to me and all have become the go to spot for my guy and i. I luv their Happy Hour menu as well as their late night happy hour i believe that runs from 9 p.m. till close. yay for late HH! I normally go for their spicy tuna hand roll, they're very generous with their spicy tuna and easy on the rice. just how i like it. i am a little disappointed that they're always out of their yellowtail collar. you have to come early for this since they only serve a certain amount a day. so since we come late in the evening, they're always out :( their salmon collar is still good though so def try that. another item that we always order is the baked salmon rolls. real good. i have yet to try their sushi here.. till the next trip again :)

I came here with a large group of girls. They were all my co workers. The night we came was my first time, but the girls at work come here all the time because their sushi is fantastic. And I agree! It's really fresh, they have a lot of traditional japanese sushi. The girls ordered really fancy stuff, so I was brave and tried a lot of it. So delicious! I got the avocado eel roll (amazinggggg) and also a rainbow roll. We drank way too much sake and I had a few mojitos. They have an awesome drink menu. Great place to come with friends. I can't wait to come back! They also brought out green tea ice cream for my favorite asian's birthdays, & sang happy birthday in japenese. So cute! :)

Lets face it, Kabuki is all about the Happy Hour. There's no doubt about it They have the most incredible happy hour for any restaurant I've seen. Cheap beer and sake! and a dozen decent rolls for low price under 5 bucks. You'll feed yourself and a group of 4 for under 30 bucks. You'll be stuffed. The taste is pretty decent. Its really hard to tell which roll you get off the happy hour menu because they'll all similar in taste and they offer no pictures. I've had all of them and they're all better then most Sushi places out there. If you're looking for a place to go after a meeting or meetup with friends this is your place. Enjoy!

Disappointing. I've been to other Kabuki locations (pre-Yelp) and expected better. The restaurant is small and poorly laid out, though I didn't see the outside seating. We ordered eel and avocado roll, the Kabuki roll, the yellowtail roll, and something else that was a shrimp tempura roll with various toppings on each roll (roe, crab, salmon, etc)--the last one was tasty, but one dish does not a restaurant make. Service was slow, although nice. If you have somewhere else to grab sushi/rolls/sake -- go there.

I went here on my day off with my sister and i ordered the spicy seafood udon noodles. It was DELISH!! The service there was great, the waiter was super nice and was quick to our every request. Definitely coming back here soon. Awhile back, i dated a waiter who was really good at his job... and i know this is kind of personal but i just HAVE to disclose it. So i dated this waiter for about 2 years, everything was great but the sex. Once in awhile during sex, he would ask "Is everything okay? Can i do anything else for you?" lol

Worst service ever! Don't bother with the Red Mask Club either. I showed them receipts with over 500 points and they still didn't t honor the $25.00 discount I was supposed to get. I will never go there again or recommend it to anyone!

They sent an e-mail for buy one entree and get one free. For being a Kabuki club member (free), I get $15 free to use during my birthday month. Can't combine the two offers, right? Wrong, the manager honored both without asking any questions. Ordered the spicy tuna handroll and the salmon skin handroll. Both were fresh and delicious with the right ingredients that is very Japanese, and not westernized. Also ordered the salmon combo and BBQ beef ribs entree. Both came super fresh and taste perfectly. Now with great food, you sometimes have to lose out on price and/or service. The price isn't cheap, but after the BOGO and free b-day $15, the bill became super reasonable. Our server, one of the best service I've had, ever. I'm a curve grader. Only about 15% of the service I receive I would give an A or an F, most will fall in the middle of acceptable. And tonight was easily an A. Quick and attentive service, super friendly communication and never rushed. She showed genuine enjoyment in her job. According to the receipt, our server's name is Jasmine. BRAVO!

We've come here for dinner a couple times when visiting cousins in the area. Both times we've had decent service and eaten really good sushi. They don't take reservations at all, which is unfortunate because even when we've called ahead to ask how the wait is and they tell us "about 10 minutes", in reality it can be about 30-40. The bar area is pretty small, as is the area near the matradee. Good food for fair prices.

Very fresh sushi, friendly staff. The hot asparagus appetizer was very good. They brought me a complimentary bowl of edamame with my meal. I'm not usually impressed with california rolls, but something in theirs was delicious! Smaller place, not too noisy. Friendly, intimate atmosphere.

Finally a reasonably priced, delicious sushi place with FRIENDLY staff! We came here for happy hour and were very impressed with our server Brenda, she was very attentive and seemed to genuinely care about us, unlike the rude service I usually receive at surrounding Japanese restaurants. The hosts were also very welcoming and the expos made sure we had everything we needed. Happy hour is a steal! They have deluxe rolls and we noticed they weren't overpriced during regular hours. I really appreciated their alcohol selection (sake sangria was heavenly) and was pleasantly surprised they bring you complimentary edamame. I can't wait to go back, keep up the amazing job Kabuki!

This is a GOOD place to get lunch, and it does not matter if you like Japanese. The green tea ice cream is a must-have for dessert, since they do it up fancy. I do not remember much else.

Have been to several different Kabuki's in the Southern California area and none of them have blown me away, but they don't disappoint either. The reason we have returned and will keep returning is the "reverse happy hour". You can spend under $50 (with tip) and get a good amount of food with a cocktail too. If you order strictly from the happy hour menu you can probably get away even cheaper. The food is pretty good. It's not great sushi, but it's pretty solid. One of the great things about this place is that they still give free Edemame. Seems that these days most Japanese restaurant don't offer it for free anymore. Here is what we ordered this past Sunday: Tokyo Mojito (Plum Orange) Chu Hi (Mango) Calamari Rings Salmon Sushi Alaskan Roll Lotus Roll Spicy Tuna Roll Very filling and all pretty good. The Calamari Rings do not disappoint and come with a couple of great dipping sauces. The drinks aren't strong, but just enough to give you a slight buzz. They are tasty though! The only things we ordered that weren't on the happy hour menu were the Calamari Rings and the Lotus Roll. My fiance likes lobster rolls and the Lotus Roll didn't let her down. The Alaskan Roll was very good and an even better value. I think it was $5.95? Spicy Tuna Roll was $2.95. Can't beat the price! Overall the food was good and quite filling. Go to the REVERSE HAPPY HOUR! 8-10pm Sunday through Thursday. Cheers!

Two years later, the ambiance and service is still pleasant. We had their spider roll, kabuki roll, sweet shrimp sashimi, yellowtail collar, and lobster dynamite. The spider roll was delicious, and the sashimi was sweet, crisp, and fresh. I especially liked the deep fried shrimp heads that accompanied the sashimi. It likened to a perfectly prepared soft shelled crab--juicy, flavorful, and nicely textured. The kabuki roll was unfortunately lesser quality than before. Seven pieces of crunchy spicy tuna rolls topped with king crab, salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, spicy yellowtail (?), salmon roe, and flying fish roe. Too many roes and minced fishies, and not enough "real" sashimi. The yellowtail collar was generously portioned, nicely grilled, and buttery. The lobster dynamite was lobster tail meat and avocado chunks in a thick mayo mix. Too rich, bland, and the buttery avocado was overkill. I definitely prefer traditional dynamite with scallops and spiciness. A decent lunch spot.

came here for reverse happy hour on a sunday night. The reverse happy hour menu isn't as extensive as the regular happy hour menu but still pretty good. We ordered the seaweed salad, the krab salad (HUGE!) and three rolls. Since we were hungry, we also ordered a teriyaki chicken and beef combination plate to share. Everything was good. The salads and combination plates are big and can be shared! A huge plus is that they offer white or brown rice and the brown rice is VERY good! They can even make the california rolls with brown rice.

This place really gets a 4.5. I think it would have been a 5 if the servers would come around asking if they could be of service a couple more times. We were greeted by the host immediately and seated as such. We had the CUTEST/ Kinda hott waiter in the house. (Definitely another star because of that). We had a few drinks (i definitely recommend creamy peach saketini for the lighter drinkers out there) and then we ordered: eel and avocado roll (had a bit too much avocado on the top and not enough eel, the portions should be reversed!) kabuki roll (a nice roll, not nice to share though; it was one of every kind of basic fish with a nice crunch to it) Tempura (nice assortment of yams(2), asparagus(2), shrimp(1), potato?(1)); comes with own sauce as well, which is normal. Umi/sea urchin (yummy, a less squishy feel than Ra, definitely a better texture, and just felt fresher) Scallop hand roll (they were yummy, though the scallops looked like they were cooked, *they typically come raw* OH also, my cousin bit into scallop shell DEFINITE NO GO; DO NOT ORDER) Paradise roll (So this roll, this mofo roll... I've tried something similar in chicago, please keep mango out of my savory rolls. Not only is mango NOT in season, but it doesn't do well in savory rolls. I'll take a cream cheese roll, but mango, cream cheese, salmon, and masago ALL IN ONE ROLL, it was a burst of conflicting flavors. I do not suggest this roll) Hamachi (Long story as to why we ordered this piece of sushi; I been wanting white tuna for the longest time, I described the texture to my cousin and she suggested this. I tried this piece of fish - the first one was ok, typical fish texture, but after I let the piece sit until room temp, and when i bit into the second piece, it tasted SOO good; it was like butter and had a thinner taste than white tuna *sorry im a white tuna fanatic* It was still very yummy) The service was nice. Again, we had the most attractive waiter in the place and when he smiled, i just DIED a little inside. His smile had the innocence of a child, but the build of a man that clearly takes care of himself *his forearms...UNF* The setting was nice, the atmosphere had enough people to know that it was a good place, mostly for a date place. TL;DR Pros: Service good, cute waiter, alky good, sushi good, atmosphere good, good dating place. Cons: Infrequent waiting, paradise roll, scallop shell in scallop hand roll.

DUHlicious! We shared baked Alaska (salmon on CA roll), spicy crunch and caterpillar rolls. The rice didn't overpower the fish and everything tasted fresh! Our friends had the bento boxes, teri salmon & chicken with sashimi & tempura. I sampled a bit, it was really nice. Light and crispy tempura, tender chicken. The fried banana dessert was the best! The vanilla icecream- wow! Where did this come from? IT was creamy and decadent. The green tea mochi was a no pass though. The mochi tasted like it had been left in the freezer uncovered (hard and grainy). can't wait to go for reverse happy hour!

This is quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had at Kabuki. I know they are fast paced and will specialize your roll for you, but yesterday they were NOT busy. 5 tables and 8 waitstaff not including the chefs. Took 15 mins to get our drink order. Our food was ready before we even had someone get our drinks. This. Was only after we asked for water and tea, TWICE. The tuna sushi was hard and tough. We couldn't even bite through it. The chef noticed and offered albacore instead, not blue fin. Them he took out a new platter of blue fin! Seriously? You just said you didn't have any. Our waiter was "on break" and no one was aware that we were there. Hello!? We are sitting at the sushi bar. The whole experience was abnoctious. I will not go back to this Kabuki, I'd rather drive all the way to Cerritos.

  • Bryan N.

Kabuki has good food. I won't discount that. The rolls are made with design in mind. For example, the dragon roll looks like a dragon. I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki here for lunch, it was good for $8 during lunch. My only gripe about my experience here was the service. The waiter was missing most of the time. I asked for a refill of water a couple times, and he didn't remember. The food took forever to come out. We even ordered dessert, and he forgot to give it to us. Our tempura ice cream busted out melting when we poked out it... For a sit down restaurant, there was just too much lack of attention to us... I went with a party of 6, and I wasn't planning to tip. They stack 18% gratuity on top parties of 6. No wonder that guy ditched us, he was guaranteed 18% no matter what. I'm sure this place is better normally. But, for the crappy service, I won't be back anytime soon. But, if you like pricey Japanese food and drinks, this is your place.

ThankGoodness! A kabuki has finally moved closer to my house. I have been driving to the one in Cerritos and the Huntington beach. I love their happy hour. I'm pretty sure their Happy Hour is the best one out there. I always get the Tofu salad and Spicy Tuna roll and Fire cracker and Green Mussel. O m G what a fatty. But trust me it is too good to get just one dish there. And Leah the server there is some good eye candy so be sure to ask for her and tip her well.

We have been to many Kabuki locations and I think this one may be our favorite. Service was excellent! Sushi was fresh! My husband and I can't rave enough about it. Will definitely return!!!!!! Our server Kenneth was wonderful! The manager was professional and seemed interested in our opinion. They have great Sunday sushi deals. We will definitely return. Delicious! Vegas roll is great! Order the green tea ice cream over shave ice.....yumm!

Opening night-kinda. We got to come to a pre-opening night rehearsal dinner. :) There is something exciting about an opening night- the anticipation in every moment. The air of possibility in the air...the newness of every table cloth, utensil, and even the smiles of the wait staff. I've been to other Kabuki restaurants and I've enjoyed them. So much so that this girl who never likes chains or even to go to the same restaurant twice, has gone many times. This time it was to Brea-across the Brea mall in a quiet corner. So we got to go for a pre-opening night dinner. So cool! We were greeted by a very excited and helpful staff. They seated us on the patio. Nice view. The night began with a glass of Takara Plum Champange. Light and delicious. So delicious that I gulped it down quickly. We also tried an apple saki. It too was delicious. A strong, apple taste that was not too sweet but very flavorful. And now for the sushi: Gold Rush Roll- This is my favorite. If you try just one roll on the menu, try this one. It is a California roll deep fried and all kinds of delicious. Kabuki Roll-This one is great. It's a roll. Each piece is topped with a great fish-tuna, salmon eggs, and more Lotus Roll-Lobster Meat on top of a roll with delicious eel sauce. Spider Roll-Crab and Avocado roll. Pretty good. Pretty good sushi overall. Now it is not the best I have ever tasted but really good for the price. I also liked that they didn't overstuff our rolls with rice. The food was fresh and mostly came out at the same time, which is no easy task. Our waitress had a great sense of humor. They had a lot of great deserts which I am dying to try out sometime when I don't overdo it on the rolls. One of the desserts is a chocolate pyramid that looks tempting. They also were kind enough to rearrange the tables for us so that we could all sit together. Good times. We joined the red mask club- so basically, we liked it so much we're planning on coming back!

Damn...someone, who shall remain un-named (starts with an E, ends with a ric) beat me to my review. I can never be out-yelped. I was hesitant to try this place out because chain restaurants = mediocre food, but I'm glad I came. I had to try it eventually, I saw it in the making for over a month before the opening. The decor inside is not what you would expect looking at it from the outside. It's like being in Alice in Wonderland and stepping into a different world. Dark colors with splashes of bright spotlights highlighting each plate. Here's the lowdown: Menu: Super big, something for everyone Sashimi: Super fresh, melts in your mouth Rolls: Lots of options, but not as creative as I thought they would have Sake: Decent selection, great presentation Dessert: Freddo = BOMB DOT COM!!! Kabuki has a good concept and product so far. They also have happy hour from 3-6...we missed it by 1 minute =(

I have been here a few times with my husband and what can I say... It's a Japanese restaurant that is owned by Koreans. I used to go to the one in Huntington Beach (Bella Terra) all of the time because it was close to my BFF's house and I knew one of the chefs there. We came to this location because it's close to our house. The sushi chefs don't talk to you very much and it has never been busy when we have gone in. It's.... OKAY..... especially if you've been sushi-deprived for a while and you're dying for some sushi. I gave this an "A-OK" because one of the chefs actually remembered me and my husband from the HB location and was very warm and welcoming to us. Otherwise, I would have given them two stars on the food and service. Oh yeah, when you go in, make sure you sign up for the Red Mask Club! Don't forget to give them your email address and they will send you coupons for free appetizers, desserts or ten bucks off your next meal. Not a bad deal! :)

Third recent visit, all for Happy Hour. With the warming weather, twice we sat out in the nice patio area. Service was fast all three times. Not the biggest sushi connoisseur in the world, or even on my block, but I would say that all three times were solid food for a great price. I asked a friend, who is a sushi fanatic, how to judge sushi quality. She said, basically in terms that I could understand, that if you don't die overnight, it was good sushi. Well, I didn't die, so it must have been quality. Simple, I know, but it makes sense. Have had the Vegas, Rose, Spicy Tuna, Alaskan, and Philadelphia rolls, and the Tempura Mozzarella and Tempura Vegetables. All were tasty. Wash that down with a Saki shot and Kirin and I say A-OK.

Place just opened and the hubby and I decided to go for happy hour. Place was kinda empty. After we were seated it took quite some time for someone to come to take our order.. Food was pretty good, but it's just the typical korean owned japanese restaurant. Once the waitress took our order, food came out pretty quick... we ordered gyoza, 3 rolls and I ordered the cha sui ramen... asked if they could make it spicy.. and it came out normal.. girl did bring me red pepper and after I ate half of the ramen, she came out with some sriracha and said she noticed that my soup wasn't red. I can tell the hubby would want to come back for happy hour.

The food is decent, but I'm not sure if I would come here any time other than happy hour. The sushi is good...solid. Outside the 'happy hours' of 3-6, 9-Midnight, the sushi adds up really quickly. The happy hour prices are a real deal. Sushi rolls for $3, appetizers under $5, and pitchers of draft beer below $10. Happy hour..do it!

the bf and i went during happy hr on a weekday, 3pm-6pm. we got there and it was packed. but our seater (didnt get his name, but he's gorgeous, like a model. great bone structure! even my bf said he was good looking. lol.) seated us immediately. our server was this cute asian girl (i think she's philipino), she was very attentive and get things out at a good pace, considering how busy it was during happy hour. we arrived at about 530pm, knowing that happy hour was almost over, we ordered EVERYTHING. the rolls, was about $5-6 section, we ordered everything, making a total of 4 rolls. it was GOOD. fresh. great quality. drinks. i got the the lychee saketini. it was strong and the lychee masked the alcohol quite a bit, with one glass i was a bit buzz. lol. their warm sake was $2! my bf got a beer (either saporro, or asahi, forgot) it was $2! promotion going on til early May. Great quality, great quantity, great price! Total we spent about $35 ish for 3 drinks, 4 rolls. :) GO DURING HAPPY HOUR!

I love this location... It's super close to our house in West Covina. The location is a little bit hidden you cant see it off of the street but we knew it was there. This is my FAVORITE! Sushi restaurant. This price is much lower then local Sushi places but the quality is ABOVE ADVERAGE! We must have been at this location 5+ times and we have always received great service. The food comes fast and the staff is very welcoming :) (Even when it's busy) Overall I wouldn't even go to another spot; this place has my favorite rolls, best service and prices in town. Check it out, you wont be disappointed. Recommendations: Lotus on Fire Roll Alaskan Roll Green Tea Ice Cream w/ fresh berries ... The BEST I EVER HAD!!

came here for happy hour i actually like this sushi place and think that i will be back. i liked the service here and the rollls were pretty good. i really enjoyed their alaskan roll as well as the spicy tempura roll. speciality rolls are about 5-6 during happy hour and smaller rolls are about 3-4. a glass of saporro beer is 2 bucks during happy hour my friend and i shared 3 rolls and i also got fried tempura for myself and i ended up paying $11 including tip!

I've been to a few of the Kabuki restaurants and always left completely happy. It had been awhile since i revisited so me and my boyfriend went to the spot in huntington, and read that they had a new location in Brea! we were so excited to finally have a reliably great sushi spot so close. The new location is beautiful and service is fantastic. we go crazy on happy hour, leave with a slight food coma and a decent buzz, in other words. 100% SATISFIED. I have experimented with a lot of sushi places and surprisingly this chain restaurant is my favorite. the Lotus Roll keeps me coming back, and everything else I've tried is just an added bonus. If you're an employee reading this, remember my face when i go in because we've already decided this is our spot that we'll never get tired of. Great Service, Phenomenal food, and good location. never a let down :)

My family and I have been regulars at Kabuki in Pasadena for quite some time, and we absolutely love it there. Because we were in the area, we decided to try Kabuki in Brea thinking that it would be just as amazing.. unfortunately, we thought wrong. The service here was beyond horrible. Stacy, our server, was the worst server I have ever come in contact with. She was rude and extremely arrogant. Unless she hones her communication skills, she will bring down this otherwise decent store.

Decided to come here on a Friday night (we usually go to the Cerritos location) and for some reason it was a dead Friday night. We were seated right away of course. Everything tasted fresh and delicious but I couldn't help but wonder why it was so dead. Maybe because the location is kinda far back to the corner of the lot and people driving by probably can't see it.
