this place is bomb... i just said bomb. taqueria is the fast food/drive thru version of tacos, so i come here when i want to actually get out of the car and enjoy some tacos and a beer. the carne asada is fresh and you can see them prepare yr tacos right when you order. the meat isn't pre-cut or anything. they're also real tortilla size tacos. not miniature. they have good salsa. tacos aren't good if the salsa isn't good. the guacamole salsa is perfection. i have no idea how they make it but whatever, it's good! i always arder a side of seasoned chips so i have an excuse to eat more guacamole salsa. duh. their burritos are massive. dollar beer fridays! they play Mexican music and always have the futbol matches on. excellent customer service. i usually come when it's not busy. i like it that way. more salsa for me!

This is my favorite mexican place in Brea. They got awesome food and a different specials for each day. For instance they have 1.00 tuesday tacos for lots of different kinds of meats and soups and on saturdays they have half off certain burritos. Their taco's are made from the little circular tortillas and have plenty of meat on them. Their lobster burrito/tacos are really good too.

Food was ok I ordered the carne asada plate, the meat was good and so was the rice and beans. However I was not fully satisfied with the meal overall. I have heard the best time to come is during happy hour.

I was looking for a quick lunch spot and came here because of all the reviews on yelp. SO INACCURATE!!! This place was not the "authentic" taco joint I was hoping for. I got a chorizo burrito and the bf got the frontera burrito. Both were mediocre at best. The rice was ok...but who messes up on rice? Salsas were good, I admit. But main dishes were WEAK. Their tortillas didn't taste home made, which is usually my favorite part. Wouldn't come back...oh and the music was way too loud so we had to sit outside to avoid the mexican cowboy music.

The place caught my attention after I saw a crowd here one Friday afternoon. I thought it was a new restaurant since I drive by the location all the time and had never noticed any crowd there. My first visit just happened to be on a Tuesday. The line was out the door and the crowd just gave the place an aura of someplace special. I ordered 3 of the tacos, plus a taquito. They were great for $1 but just ok at the regular price. My workmate was raving about his chicken quesadilla. The next day, dragged another co-worker there for lunch. This time, no $1 taco, no crowd. Ambiance is quite different this time. I tried the blackened fish burrito. It had cabbage in it which I'm not crazy about in a burrito. I'm still undecided about the place, unconvinced whether this place lives up to some of its hype. However, there's still a lot of stuff on the menu that I'd like to still try and I will revaluate after I've sampled more of its menu.

Sooo good!!! Fresh mexican food, and i love mexican food!!! They have great specials everyday, may i recommend taco tuesday!!!! Cute little place, great service and horchata to die for. They also have an awesome chicken salad with some great spices on it. I have been here many times and tried different things, and I can say that everything is great!!!

My friend and I love Taco Tuesday. It's almost the highlight of getting past Mondays! We decided to stop into El Torito, but after sitting down and looking at the tiny..and I mean tiny street tacos. Yelp to the rescue! I quickly searched on my blackberry for the next best taco tuesday place and came across Durango. As soon as we arrived the place was packed which means you know it's good food. I ordered the carnitas which was very moist and juicy. The meat came with cilantro, and onions all on a warm corn tortilla that was regular size. None of that street taco crap. I also ordered a chicken taco and a flauta. The chicken was also very flavorful and moist and came with lettuce and tomatoes. The flauta wasn't overly fried and had a decent amount of meat tucked into the friend corn tortilla. All tacos were $1.00 except for the carne asada which is $1.50 They even have soups that are $1.00 like tortilla and lobster too. They have sopas (mexican sandwiches) for $2.50 Come back again? oh ya..and afterwards you can walk off 10 calories and go to Yogurtland next door

This is a so so Mexican restaurant. I came here on taco Tuesday and paid $1.50 per taco that is normally $1.00 at El Lucero. The meat was low quality, tables were sticky, and salsas were just ok. Chips are slightly overprice but, the lemonade and the music earn this place two stars. I probably won't be back.

Come here for their taco tuesdays! Delicious. ITs great for lunch. Not so much for dinner. The picture posted is not of durangos. Try the Sunday breakfast combos they are delicious!

Had the Deluxe Taco combo with blackened fish. Good fish. Their salsa is great, very fresh, as are their chips. Also tried the carne asada. It was just ok. As was the rice and beans. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food arrived hot. Not super fast but I don't mind that. I would go back again to try something else. And get chips & salsa!

the ONLY time to ever eat here is on TACO TUESDAYS!!!! the tacos/taquitos/flautas/soups/chips are only a $1.00! totally worth it. the salsas are AMAZINGLY TASTY! i dont ever come here unless its taco tuesday because im usually broke.

Great, fast service! Chips are prefectly cooked not too greasy with a seasoning that make them delicious even without salsa. The atmosphere is casual and the salsa bar has a great selection of home-made salsas, but lack of labeling which means you're on your own for guessing which is spicy and which is not. The beans, both black and refried were bland and lacking flavor and the same goes for the rice (which was basically long grain rice with some corn tossed in for color). I sampled the Tacos Deluxe combo with fish, but wasn't expecting fresh-water fish (most likely catfish), the seasoning similar to the tortilla chip seasoning did add some flavor. I also tried a carne asada burrito and was left wanting more, the carne asada was fatty and also lacked spice and was expecting more due to the high ratings here on Yelp.

Disclaimer I rate restaraunts based on one factor. Food Quality. If the food is delicious, everything else is bearable. If you go to a restaraunt and love the food but still give the restaraunt a 2 because of some meaningless detail like chair spacing, please don't read my reviews. Your tastes are antithetical to mine and you won't find my reviews helpful. ***************************************************************************************************************************** Knowing full well that most of us on here have the attention span of a two year old (myself included), I will keep this review brief. Durango has the best breakfast burritos I've ever tasted. Their prices are cheap, their ingredients are fresh, their staff is friendly, and they serve breakfast all day. One my favorite mexican joints in Orange County. If you like it you should check out Chronic Taco's in Newport or Kay N' Dave's in LA.

I'm going to keep this review simple. Imagine this, your in Brea with a Mexican craving and you have either a choice of Taco Bell or Del Taco. Then all of a sudden you remember about Durango's and you think to yourself, hmmm that sounds good. Thats usually how it works out in my head. Its is a great place to eat, the people that run the place are super friendly and the food is really awesome. Cheap prices with even better deals on Taco Tuesdays. One thing i personally love is that they have Horchata, Watermelon and Cantaloupe Juice, fresh and available right next to the soda. Its a great alternative to drinking a coke and taste so good. Its the only place i know of that doesn't charge extra for the fresh juices. I should specify, there are lots of good sit down Mexican restaurants around, but as far as a fast non formal eatery, this is one of the top 5 in O.C. hands down. When you go in, cause im assuming after reading this review you wont be able to help but go, try the blacken fish taco. Its my personal favorite.

About a month ago, I had a craving for Mexican so my friends Steven P. and Ed L. brought me an authentic and well-liked Mexican restaurant around their area, the Durango Mexican Grill. But alas, it was closed. That night we settled for Thai food and my craving was left unsated. Last night I found myself on the road and hungry. With time to kill and a stomach to fill, I decided to check out the Durango Mexican Grill sans Steven P. and Ed L. I walked in the restaurant and was immediately greeted by the festively decorated place and friendly staff. As I sat munching on my asada taco (perfectly grilled asada), chile colorado burrito (tasty with the chile and unexpected white beans), and seasoned tortilla chips (why don't other restaurants do that?), my eyes wandered around the decor of the place. As good Mexican restaurants tend to be, it was brightly painted and there was a TV hanging on the wall showing some soccer game. And then I noticed, near the TV, the back of the neon "Open" sign appeared to have paint dripping down it. I looked again and it wasn't dripping paint, it was a surreal cityscape airbrushed in white on the black back of the sign. And lo there was another one! Another neon sign painted with a different surreal cityscape. Holy cow, those were good. I imagined them for a moment on display at the MOCA. I've seen many Mexican restaurants decorated with plenty of kitschy Latin American souvenirs but this was the first time I was tempted (however briefly) to buy one of their decorations.

The Taco Tues is completely overrated. There was more lettuce and cheese than meat. I have not tried their other food. It looks good & need to try that because I was not satisfied at all with their tacos.

Chilaquiles, huevos rancheros, taco tuesday, the "brea breakfast" when I felt like being skinny, fresh carrot juice, albondigas on rainy days, the fruit with granola and honey (which I make on my own now at home because of this place). Anyhow, I don't live in the OC anymore but when I'm there I'll go and eat my breakfast there and get this...they serve breakfast ALL DAY!!!! And they're nice and you can never put a price on good customer service, especially nowadays when everyone sucks ass! Definitely the tastiest in the area - they do it well with a Cali twist and they don't sacrifice the flavor or ingredients.

Their food isn't wonderful but the have an awesome tomato soup. I don't eat beef or pork so all I have had is their chicken tacos, tomato soup and chicken taquitos. The taco and taquito is pretty decent. I usually only go to Durango's on Tuesdays because on Tuesdays they have 1$ specials. My boss fiends for this place like a drug addict but I don't feel the same way. The place is okay for Mexican food but, I have had better.

Easily the best Mexican food in Brea. The Tues. taco nights are a good deal and the food is excellent. The hot sauce bar is large and the free watery guacamole sauce goes nicely with the free chips they give you. I highly recommend the quesadillas especially the vegetarian one if that's your thing. And the lobster burrito by far the best I've had and is a great deal at $6.50.

Durango is quite possibly one of the best Mexican restaurants in Orange County. Their food is always fresh and has a healthy, clean taste. When food is described as healthy, most equate this descriptor to bland, but at Durango, this is far from the case. It is definitely not traditional Mexican food, and they tend to put an innovative spin on it. Their best burrito on the menu by far is the blackened shrimp burrito. Oftentimes they serve special salmon dishes. If they're offering it, try it! They have daily deals as well such as dollar tacos and soups Tuesdays, and dollar domestic beer/margaritas happy hour on Fridays. Their staff is friendly and the restaurant is located a short distance from the Brea Mall. If you're in town, try it!!

Can't get enough of this place. The staff is well trained, very friendly and polite, greeting many customers by name. The food is outstanding. While busy Taco Tuesdays provide delicious, inexpensive meals (try the soup), I recommend diners also return another day of the week to sample some of the other menu items. Several dishes offer a twist to the standard Mexican fare. The Blackened Fish Taco, Blackened Chicken Taco, Blackened Chicken Tostada and Durango Omelet are outstanding. Drinks such as the watermelon and cantaloupe aguas frescas are really refreshing on a warm day. Several vegetarian options are offered also. Food is an excellent value. A+++

Dope taco joint from back in the day. Their taco Tuesday still cracks. They open early for breakfast and the pricing is value-oriented. Let's face it, there's plenty of stiff competition in the area so you have to pump out quality work at a quality price to retain repeat business. You'll get that at Durango. Fosheezy...

Found this spot on Yelp, and did not disappoint! We came for taco Tuesday and tacos were about 1.25-1.50. You'll love the beef & taco de papa (potato) I have yet to try the adobada ones! All in all the quality was fresh, and at a fair price. We spent $10 on 6 tacos and a side of beans that were pretty good too. Def found a little gem inside a city with NO bomb Mexican spots!

If you're looking for great authentic Mexican food you should check this place out. Carne Asada is great and the meat is always juicy and never dry

It seems like people either love this place or don't care for it...weird. I went today for lunch and I think their food is outstanding. I got three tacos and a side of black beans. I liked everything. They even unexpectedly threw in a side of guacamole that was good. The food was flavorful, fresh and not greasy: this is what Mexican food should taste like. I'm definitely coming back.

I visited this place few Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. It is good quality and friendly service. Wife and I dining for nacho and tostada. First of service is friendly with big simile that is NOT force or fake. The dish are served in hot beautiful plates. Nacho had nice spread and all chips are covered with some topping. There is no unwanted chip on the plate. Chicken tostada where chicken is nice marinate. There is live band signing old 70s Friday. Nice hidden treasure since located on major street so you can drive by without noticing the place.

Solid Mexican, order and they bring it to your table place. Just off the Brea downtown strip, it is super convenient and quite affordable. The Carne Asada with flour tortilla's hit the spot. Nice tables for convenient outside dining. Seemed super clean and staff was friendly.

This is our go to place in Brea. Right on Imperial Highway it is convenient with easy parking. The staff are always very friendly and attentive. The sala bar is wonderful. When they have the watermelon fresca out, I drink too much of it - it is soo good. The food is always good but oddly, the start of the show is what is a side dish really, the beans! Delicious! We've eaten a good number of items from the menu but tacos are my thing and the Carne Asada Taco are darn good. We have eaten in and to go. When you eat in you get a nice plate in a very relaxed atmosphere. Never had a bad experience.

I would dare say that this is my favorite mexican place! A great selection of soft tacos, I highly recommend the blackened calamari. But you cannot go wrong with more traditional fish tacos. 2 tacos combo, with rice and beans. Visit the salsa bar, guacamole salsa, fresh cabbage pico di gallo, fresh lime wedges... This place has been around for a long time, I have been coming here for well over 10 years... And I definitely plan to keep coming back!

I grew up in San Diego, only five miles from the Mexi-Cali border, Mexican cuisine has a special place in my heart. I'm a huge proponent of small business, but I also have to be honest about my reviews. I came here with high expectations based on the good reviews on Yelp. I'm a little surprised though, this was far from what I had expected. The staff is nice, but not exactly friendly, you know that feeling you get when they're just there to do their job, not very warm, inviting or lively? They are merely a transitory medium between monetary exchange and the ordering of the food. To start off the salsas were very plain. The salsa can really make or break which direction the overall meal goes. The red salsa, I assumed to be the spiciest, had no heat behind it. I love spicy, but this didn't even come close. The taste was too weak and had no kick. The cilantro-lime salsa, the better of the three that I tried, good tangy mixture and had a nice balance of flavors. The last one I think was the salsa verde, wasn't very good, it tasted bland. None of the salsas had any type of heat, it was a bit of a disappointment. I had the rice and beans along with the meal. Beans are cooked perfectly, the taste was superb, but the rice tasted a little dry and could use a little work. Now onto the star of the show, the carne asada burrito. I liked how they tossed the burrito back on the grill after it was wrapped, you can tell by the grill marks, it gave it a nice crisp shell and something extra to the taste. For it being a carne asada burrito, I have to say I didn't taste a whole lot of carne asada. I was taken aback, because if I wanted a plain bean and cheese burrito, i would have ordered a bean and cheese burrito. The overall meal wasn't very stunning or spectacular, it didn't make me want to come back for me. The inside of the restaurant really needs to be cleaned up, the bottom edges of the counter looks messy and worn down. The pictures on the ceiling looks too unprofessional.

I really wanted to like this place , no correction LOVE. However for vegetarians the food was very bland. My husband got the tostada salad and I got the spinach enchiladas. Both plates lacked flavor. However the food was fresh tasting and the salsa bar is good. My guess is if you are a good meat eater you may like the food here.

The Durango Mexican Grill has some of the best daily specials going, including my favorite Taco Tuesday deal in town: $1 tacos and soups all day on Tuesday until they close at 9 pm. The one dollar options include soft and hard shelled tacos filled with beef, chicken, carnitas, adobada, Chile Cholorado and chile verde. There is a vegetarian filling too. (Asada and lengua are an additional $0.50.) The meats are well seasoned if not a bit dry. The tacos are smaller, street-size. Four tacos should generally satisfy most people. Moreover, the Taco Tuesday dollar menu includes $1 soups all day. The choices are potato jalapeno jack, lobster bisque, fire roasted tomato, tlalpeno (chicken), tortilla, albondigas, pozole and menudo. It is highly unlikely you will find another deal like this. Pozole and menudo, in particular, are generally prepared only on weekends at most Mexican restaurants and taquerias. The variety of soups are a great additional $1 option worth taking full advantage of on Tuesdays. There are also daily specials throughout the week, including the following: 1/2 off burritos from 3 to 9 pm on Mondays. Choice of one free margarita or soup with a $6 or more purchase on Wednesdays. $1 fish tacos (beer battered fried tilapia) all day on Thursdays. $1 margaritas or $1.50 domestic beers from 5 to 10 pm on Fridays. Kids eat for 1/2 off all day on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). The food is average at best, no-frills Mexican cuisine. But the menu is varied and Durango certainly offers some of the best deals around. While the food may be satisfying, it is the combination of more options and unbeatable daily special prices that draws people back time and again. A nice spot to consider for Taco Tuesdays.

3.5 Stars! I'm hesitant to give them that extra star just because I think there must be a better place nearby that I just haven't stumbled upon yet. I love Mexican food and could probably eat it everyday. So naturally when I get a craving for it, I'm out on a hunt. It's conveniently located on Imperial, so finding it was not a problem nor was parking (there's a huge parking lot). For my first time there, I tried the adobado burrito since they didn't have al pastor. The burrito was simply rice, beans and meat, which was fine because I just asked for a side of cilantro and onion. When she rang me up, the price was different from the menu.. more expensive than I thought a burrito should be.. but a craving's a craving! The burrito itself was pretty good, lots of meat. I also liked the variety at the salsa bar and their salsa (especially the green, slightly creamy one). I noticed they offered Taco Tuesdays all day, so next time I came on a Tuesday hoping that the lower prices would satisfy me a bit more. I believe that each item is $1.35 on Tuesdays, which isn't so bad. I ordered the adobado and chile colorado taco, plus a lobster bisque (which is weird that they even offer it here.. but I went along with the yelp reviews!). The lobster bisque was way too salty for my liking -- I could barely drink more than a few spoonfuls. The tacos were good, but nothing special. What's odd to me is that depending on the meat you order, the tacos sizes are different. So yeah.. just A-OK but I'll be back on Tuesdays until I find a Mexican spot in the area that I can call my go-to.

Very disappointed. Sad. The service was nice, but the food. ehhh.... Taco Tuesday is a great bargain (yeah like no shit), but this does not apply to taco tuesday. $2.50 for a frigging taco and look my pics... They are puny!!! The tortilla is big, but if you consolidate the fillings, it is like 1/8 - 1/4 of the tortilla. Besides, if a taco shop does not double stack the corn tortilla (which cost less than 3 cents each), then you know you aren't getting any content... This is similar to dating that beautiful woman that is just a flat, boring ass bitch~! Excuse me, i mean a flat, boring ass bitch with a nice smile that gave you the opportunity to spend money on her... Anyhow, I digress. The horchata was great. The Jaimaca sucked... The salsa/chile bar has good variety, but lacks spice and uniqueness (in short, commercialized salsa/chile from smart & final). Chile verde taco was decent, bit dry. Coronado taco sucked. yucky. Beef (barbacoa) taco not bad. needs lime and some touch. Chicken taco really sucked. Veggie taco was really good... I mean, you will hardly ever say veggie based dish is the marquee item from ten options~! how many of you think a boca burger tastes better than in & out??? yep rest my case. So tell me... how does five tacos + one fountain soda = tad bit under $10.00??? OC sales tax is 8% meaning the five tacos will be $5.40... then... the fountain soda is $3.00??? doesn't make sense unless... Unless what Mr. Accountant? The taco tuesday deal isn't $1.00... Be careful what they charge you people. So why do i give it three stars then when i may make it appear to be one star? 1. Proprietor, but upon further research, might not be the case. 2. Horchata tastes home-made unlike Ole 3. Excellent customer service.... Oh btw Durango people... Do not be shy to give Mr. Clean a ring =) adding $3.00 and the $9.00/hr minimum wage you give will not be material to your cause. sheesh... Tax Tip: IRS Pubs are not binding (primary) authority source to argue your points. In other words, read the actual Internal Revenue Codes or Treasury Regulations even though this equals to the same pages of the Affordable Care Act (22,000 or so pages, +/- 5,000 pages). (^^)

Seems like they pick and choose who will receive a quality meal.. that or it's simply hit or miss. Then again maybe people dont understand what good food is anymore? Anyways, their tacos are crap. More lettuce (wtf) than anything. Lettuce? In tacos? Whaaat.. Wife and I came here for taco tuesday, each taco had about a sneeze worth of meat. Unacceptable. The latina girl that works there seemed to have a problem that I wanted to pour one sauce cup per taco. I love my tacos drenched in salsa! Didn't appreciate the attitude. So here's why they receive two stars.. One star = I've previously ordered a torta from here, it was delishhhhhhhh Two star = their salsas pack a punch! I doubt I'll come back, those tacos were extremely disappointing. I've been to plenty of taco spots, I know a real taco (quality) when I see and taste one. Note: the beef tacos are spicy; not recommended for kids.

On a last minute stop to grab a late dinner, I stopped by Durango's Mexican food. There is patio seating that was surprisingly still full when it was coming to closing time. I was making a large order and the cashier was very patient with me. I ordered the shrimp nachos, carne asada burrito, and one of each taco - shredded chicken, adobada, carne asada, and carnitas. Food (4 Stars): I the carne asada burrito and it is huge! They don't use the brown pinto beans but white beans instead, which is an interesting change. The shrimp from the shrimp nachos were well seasoned. The best taco had to be the adobada, with the bold flavored pork. The best part was the salsa bar. The red habanero sauce goes great with the red meat. There is also a greem avocado based sauce that goes well with everything. For you verde sauce lovers, their's is really spicy! There is a mild tomato based sauce that also goes well with the chips. Service (3.5 Stars): The food took awhile to come out, but the workers gave me water while I was waiting at the table. They also frequently checked up on the status of my order which I appreciate. The bathrooms are not that clean. When you tip they ring a large bell! Bottom line: good mexican food! Next time, I'm trying the lobster taco or a breakfast item!

This place was a legend until that new girl (cashier) got hired. She should be fired because she ruins the Durango spirit. Food quality gets worse every year. Flan was bomb. Churros are special.

I've only ever been here for taco Tuesday, and I guess it's good enough to keep me coming back! $1 for tacos, a little more if you want a crunchy shell. The whiteboard they write on with Taco Tuesday specials can be hard to understand. Sometimes they leave out the price of the different tacos, so don't be too shy and just ask the guy! Everyone that works there is super friendly. This is definitely a local joint and not some really nice Mexican restaurant you want to go to for the ambiance. It's good, cheap, and fairly fast Mexican food. Some of their sides (on Taco Tuesday) are also $1 each, so I always end up getting a side of rice!

Good for Taco Tuesdays! I was lucky enough to walk in before the crowd started. While waiting, the place became so busy, that there were actually about 6 guys behind this counter at one time. yelp.com/user_local_phot… The restaurant actually seemed a bit dirty. The floors needed a good power wash. There were only about 2 girls dining here. The place was packed with men, and it did not really have a nice ambiance for girls or families. Just get your order to-go, like I did. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Salsa bar was decent. yelp.com/user_local_phot… yelp.com/user_local_phot… These $1 tacos are TINY, smaller than my fist. I wonder if it was due to Taco Tuesday. Are they larger on regular days?? yelp.com/user_local_phot… Their tacos, however, look very pretty and appetizing. Unfortunately, they were all looks. They were just alright.. I preferred the adobado over carnitas. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Their chicken and veggie tacos are of a larger size than the first 2. Nothing special about them either though, and the chicken seemed a tad dry. yelp.com/user_local_phot… Overall, it seemed like a good deal only because it was Taco Tuesday. Any other day, I wouldn't pay more than $2.00 for this.

This place was really good a year ago but now it's just ok. The food was good, the place and especially the bathrooms are dirty. The counter lady was distracted by everything except great customer service. I wanted to love it but just could not.

Lobster burritos are the best! Pricing is cheaper than most around the area. Expect the best Mexican food.

No way this place is suck! Skinny female cashier doesn't know how to explain their own menu and has attitude. When we ask what kind of special they have she just keep pointing to their menu. Well we thought that they still have fish taco Thursday special for 99cent. Even though if they don't have it anymore, she should recommend us what they offering right now instead of keep pointing to their menu! We are not asking for direction here. So sad if a business only hire cheap labor, customer get serve by what business paid for.

Finally found a decent Mexican spot to eat in Brea! I can alway tell if it's authentic by their rice. It's homemade and fresh I had the Chili Relleno last time I came and honestly it wasn't that bad. I wasn't a big fan of the red sauce but all in all every time I've eaten here I'm always satisfied

No need to reiterate the other Yelpers, so I'm just stopping by to show you the Taco Tuesday menu. MUST: Lobster Bisque Potatoe Tacos Happy Hour (3-6 daily) $1 Margarita & domestic beers on Fridays (5-10PM) I'm to anxious to eat and can't seem to take a picture, maybe next time... I'm going for the spinach enchiladas next!

Came here for the first time. I've been looking for Mexican food in the area and this by far is one of the best. It's clean and the food is good. I called in my order so that was very convenient and workers are really nice. I just wish the burritos were larger. But hey it's not about quantity it's about quality!

Came here, thanks to bookmarking it and as a tip from fellow Yelper reviews. Man you guys really know where all the good food joints are! Starving from working out (little did I know I was sick) we came here and boy, will be coming back again and again. Even if I don't need to go to Brea for anything, it will be just for this little restaurant and yummy Mexican grub. The service was excellent! The person taking our order (he appeared to be the owner, but I could be wrong??) shook our hand and welcomed us to this restaurant. I saw Lobster tacos and that was it for me and hubby ordered a carne asada burrito. There's a little salsa bar on the side, which we indulged in and sat down. They also gave us chips and salsa. But when the food came, holy mackerel! Deliciouso! Nice portions & you get chips with it. My lobster tacos were a nice size and they weren't at all chinzy with the lobster portion. Free refills, we got up and got more horchata; even though I ordered jamaica, the server was eating his lunch & was willing to stop and go get us more, we told him no, not to worry and got the horchata honestly, I love both drinks. The place is cute and not too small, if at all. I can't imagine what Taco Tuesdays are like, but I look forward to going that day for the bargain and tasty tacos! Large parking lot and located on Imperial not too far off from the Mall and all surrounding shops & businesses. They take plastic :) When in Brea and in the mood for some Mexican food, I highly recommend this little gem. Friendly staff that offered excellent and fast service!

This place is super legit My coworkers and I come here religiously every week. I absolutely love their taco salad. All their ingriedenta are always fresh and everything is made to order. El Durango raises above the rest in the quality of their food and presentation. The horchata is always made fresh and the habernaro sauce is off the charts. You can never go wrong with a fish burrito, a cold horchata, and some churros de cajeta for dessert. Don't forget your stretchy pants!!

Decent place but taco prices are high. Tuesday taco is best time to buy them. The kitchen is a little slow. But staff is very nice . Get more special price days and it would be awesome. I look forward to seeing more special days. Love the music they place in outside lobby. Service 9 Price 5 Bathroom 10 Fast 6

Growing up in Corona there were mexican restaurants all over that made quality food. I moved to Brea and this is the best mexican food I've ever had at a restaurant. I was used to having to go to TAPS for a pricy lobster bisque, now i can just come here for a cheaper even better one. Been here a few times and so far my fav is the asada tortas

I come here almost every Tuesday with my friends and coworkers. I always receive friendly service, especially from Alfredo at the cash register!! Their potato tacos and veggie tacos are to die for!! Chips and guac and margaritas too! Also, I could inhale a bucket of their avocado salsa.

My recent visit to Durango Mexican Grill has yielded my 2-star review. Overall, it's mediocre but could be MUCH better. I love trying New Mexican restaurants so after reading the yelp reviews I paid this establishment a visit. The only reason this place has good reviews is due to the demographic that visits this location; residents of Brea who most likely haven't visited an AUTHENTIC Mexican Grill. Does it get the job done? Barely. Will I be back? No. Cons: -beer served in plastic cups and filled 3/4 of the way -dirty/messy dinning area -Customer service is sup-bar -wait time for food is above average -awkward ordering process Pros: -open condiment bar ex: salsas and lemons -food is average -outside seating area (shared with yougurt land) -location Final review.....1.5 Stars.

We live in Southern California- we can pretty much go to moms house for good Mexican food. I was craving a carne asada burrito and decided to stop in because Yelp gave this place some decent reviews. I avoid Pepe's so this place looked like a good stand in. My burrito was somehow $7.50- even though it was $5.99 on the menu. No, I didn't order anything extra. I took the food to go. The size of the burrito wasn't half as disturbing as the quality. There were three pieces of asada that were pure gristle and that needed to be spot out! The beans were ok. If you are Mexican, you will probably think the white pintos are an upgrade. There was supposed to be cheese- but I never got a taste of any. That's it, unseasoned fatty meat, mediocre beans and maybe there was some cheese in the vicinity of where the burrito was prepared. Yes, there is a salsa bar but it was six pm and it looked like it hadn't been touched all day so I didn't chance it. I won't be back-ever. Oh and I left out when I was waiting for my food a heavy set woman came in cursing on her cell pain and ordered a beer---so you get the type of place this is right? Think Alberto's or Molcasalsa with beer. It's like the Walmart of Mexican food!

The good. Clean place, nice friendly people, huge salsa bar and plenty of seating and good prices (2 meals for under $20). The bad I had chicken taco platter. It was on the healthier side of things which I liked but it wasn't that great. My favorite place is still Wahoos and I'd say Frescas is my favorite quick style Mexican food in Brea.

Taco Tuesday doesn't get much better than this. Alfredo is always incredibly friendly and basically has mine and my friend's orders memorized... it makes us feel like Taco Tuesday VIPs, and there is never any judgement when we go back to order that third - OK FINE. FOURTH - taco of the night. Their food always tastes fresh and you can tell they are all about quality when it comes to their awesome dishes, salsa bar, and extensive Taco Tuesday menu. Durango, I heart you.

This is an ideal local restaurant, the kind of place you can come back to every week and be happy. It's an independent business with a kind and welcoming owner. I'll keep coming back for tacos, sopes, and the salsa bar!

My husband and I ordered the Baja fish tacos and we both thought the food was bland. The tortillas fell apart while eating the tacos, it was super messy. The place is nice, staff is friendly, but the food wasn't that great for us.

Just went for Taco Tuesday, dollar tacos. The Carnitas were good. The Carne Asada was really bad. Every bite was a rubbery piece if fat, It was disgusting. Thankfully they were only one dollar!

With the many Mexican eateries within a few miles of this place...I definitely had better. The asada was tough and mediocre, the abadaba was not too bad; otherwise it would have been a one star rating. I even went back for their $1 fish taco Thursday specials; dare I say i..."Fish tacos at Del Taco taste better!" and it's at a comparable price. Flavorless, hardly any fish, overstuffed with cabbage; another disappointment. I really hated giving this place such a low rating, friendly folks, but the food was not up to par. Moreover, plenty of competing places close by...

I've been here several times and always enjoy my food. I've been going lately for Taco Tuesday. They have a bunch of stuff on the menu for $1, even margaritas on the rocks. Not sure how strong they are though. Their burritos are really good. And lately, I've been loving their calamari tacos. Tried the tomato soup yesterday and really liked it. Chicken tacos are good as well. They have lobster tacos as well. The only thing I've tried and didn't like was the lobster bisque. It wasn't good. They have specials every day of the week and lunch specials too. Taco Tuesday is pretty crowded but you still get your order fast.

So I came back on a whim. Not really sure what I was wanting I opted for the blackened fish burrito. And it was..ok. Alot of cabbage and it took at least 5 big bites before I finally hit fish. For $8 I had higher hopes and was mainly dissapointed by the amount of fish. Once I got down to some fish it was yummy. Nicely blackened and seasoned. Flavorful moist and well cooked.

I had no clue they were once aflliated with Taco Mesa in Orange/ CM. The food here is sooooo goooood! I really loved the seafood enchiladas. The cheesy sauce that was poured over the enchiladas was delicious. I would love to know the recipe and use it for tamales. It is a super causal spot and the prices are good. I came here with my boyfriend, this is one of his favorite places and definitely has become one of mine. I am a fan of Taco Mesa so go figure.

Taco Tuesdays = Cheap tacos & Beer Specials Even if it's not a Tuesday the prices are pretty reasonable. I must say.... this place gets PACKED on Tuesdays! This is the first place I have ever felt safe enough to order and eat a Lengua Taco. It was surprisingly tasty and lean. Good food and the guys are always smiling and very courteous to all of the customers. They DO remember you, so, live by the #1 rule..... don't eff with the people that make your food! haha! If you're craving Mexican Grill and you're in the Brea Mall area.... check it out. It's worth a shot! :)

Went in for Taco Tuesday and ordered a carnitas, adobada, chile colorado, chile verde, beans and potato jalapeno soup. The tacos were fine but the beans tasted like they should be paired with franks and sold in a school cafeteria. My friend and I were pleasantly pleased with the potato jalapeno soup though. The deals are great but I think you could find the same level of taco at the same taco-tuesday deal at a larger place that's more comfortable and festive. However, I wouldn't mind going back once in awhile for a craving or two.

We were looking for a Mexican place but close to us. We found this place and after reading these great reviews. It's located in the same building as yogurtland so it's perfect. You can get dessert right after your meal. I ordered the torta with asada, and got the guacamole on the side. Husband got the burrito del monte. Really just a steak burrito. The flavor of the asada was really good. The torta had tons of flavor, and came with a side of chips. Overall the service was friendly, and the food was good. We want to come back to try the chilaquiles.

I love coming here for Taco Tuesday. This place have a variety of tacos, soups and other delicious morsels. I always end up getting the same thing whenever I come here... soft taco with black beans, taco de papas, and lobster bisque! Sometimes I'll get the chips but they can be a little spicy for me. The specials are pretty much all $1 except for some things like the guacamole. The fish tacos are pretty good as well. They've never overcooked my fish before.

There seems to be a great deal of some kind for every day of the week. The deals really are good, too, so don't pass them up! Reasonably priced items on the menu but you get what you pay for. If you really want some delicious Mexican food, skip Taco Bell and spend more money and get the real deal at Durango. I highly recommend the chicken tacos!

Durango is conveniently located RIGHT in front of my gym. Literally, RIGHT IN FRONT. Sometimes I try to dash to my car in order to avoid the sensory overload, but when you're starving after a sweaty workout, the last thing you need (but the only thing you want) is some amazingly perfect Mexican food. This little hole in the wall has it all. I've tried their burritos, I've had the taco plate, their nachos are divine, and their chicken soup (which has a more authentic name) is close to perfection. My mouth is already watering just thinking about it. They have a ridiculous selection of combinations and their burritos are larger than my head. It's nearly impossible for me to get through a full burrito let alone half. Which may or may not be a good thing. I'm not a huge fan of wet burritos typically because I hate the soggy tortilla and I especially hate trying to eat something that continuously falls apart. However, Durango just might be THE wet burrito champions. Somehow, their burritos stay in tact and delicious to the last bite (or so I've heard). Don't miss their Taco Tuesday, $1 tacos (about 20 different options) and $3 margaritas, but expect to get there early, the later it gets, the longer the line gets. Also, see: Friday Happy Hour 5pm-10pm, $1 beers & margaritas? Yes please.

I am a recent transplant to Brea and i was wondering how my yelping experiences would go once i unpacked my stuff and began to get out there. Coming across this place is a nice find. My girl and I were out shopping for stuff for the new place and it was approaching 9p. We pulled up to see what time they closed and happy to hear that it was 10p. I park, walk in and happy to see they have taco Tuesday with 20 $1.00 menu items. I'm in. I had a carnitas taco, asada taco, also had a chicken, and beef taco (with lettuce, cheese, sour cream) I was pretty hungry and it was good. We ordered chips and Guac and my girl had the veggie tostada salad. It was delicious. (of course I had a small bite) Good salsa bar, and a wide selection to choose from. This is not a true blue hard core taqueria like some i have had, but for Brea, nestled safely behind the Orange Curtain, its good. It good to stop in and throw a few bucks down for a couple of tacos and have a few beers. I would give it a 3.5 star but since I'm new to the neighborhood, I'll round up.

3.5 stars. I've only been here a couple times and only for Taco Tuesdays and I can say this place is not bad! I'll probably stop by a few more times and then maybe I will re-rate this place. They have a whole bunch of tacos and they are just $1 each on Tuesdays. Recommended: -Taco de papa Not recommended: -Taco de carnitas -Burger taco. I just had to try it ok? It's a deep fried (crunchy) taco shell with half of a burger patty inside with lettuce, tomatoes, and some kind of dressing. I wouldn't get it again. But actually it was better than the carnitas.

I had mixed feelings about my grilled veggie burrito here, but that probably stems from my poor relationship with carrots. There were carrots in my burrito, and they were pretty crunchy, but that made them easy to pick out. The iced tea had a funky, bitter taste, as though it wasn't very fresh. However, I really liked the mild salsa (yes, I'm a wimp) and my burrito was pretty good sans carrots. The rice and beans were also good. I might give this place another try, but I wouldn't get the veggie burrito again.

Durango's.. sweet Durango's.. how could I have forgotten thee?!?! I recently found myself at my old place of work in Fullerton this weekend. I was so excited because I wanted to have everything that was "Fullerton/Brea" food related. The one thing I miss about that are from working in San Bernardino is all the places for food! I was soo happy when we decided to get some yummy food from Durango's.. I had the Arroz con Pollo.. which I had never hard there.. but it sounded really good at the time.. and believe me.. it was. The food was everything I remembered it to be.. It's a definite "must-go" when in the area..

As far as taco shacks go, this one is one of the best! The food here is good. Really good. All of it. And the guys that work here are so nice especially Lorenzo! Me and my boyfriend once went here for the breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs, bacon/ham/sausage, potatoes, fresh fruit with honey, and freshly squeezed orange juice. The fresh juice is so good. Then we came back for lunch. He had 3 tacos (fish, carne asada, chicken) as usual, and I got a burrito (carne asada). Then we came back for dinner! They have a different special everyday on the board, so make sure you check those out because they are always good. Also try their nachos and anything with their grilled veggies because they cook them so darn perfectly! OH! And the churros! Taco Tuesdays here are one of the best, and on Fridays they have bottles of domestic beer for $1.50! This is truly one of the most authentic taco shacks and it is so cool they are located in Brea with a second restaurant opened! Be sure to tip!

Yes, another 3 1/2 Star place for me. I ordered a Carne Asada burrito. It was reasonably priced, but I wish it was offered "wet." The burrito itself was about average size. The meat was plentiful and flavorful, I didn't have to dip it in salsa, but like I said, a "wet" option would have been nice. The meat was engulfed by rice and cheese with the cheese being nice and gooey. It also came with some slightly seasoned chips. The restaurant was decorated like most Mexican restaurants. The only unique thing was the ceiling had photos of customer testimonials. The salsa bar had about five varieties to choose from. They are unmarked and you have to guess which one is mild or hot. Not much else to say. There's so many Mexican places in the general vicinity and it seems like each one has something that is better than the other. So, finding that one that is the best is rather difficult.

Love this place! Come in for the Monday night half off burritos. What a deal! I am in love with their chips..I always ask for extra seasoning on them. My favorite item to order is the vegetarian burrito and the fish tacos. They also have a really good salsa bar and live music on Friday nights. And it's location is perfect right next to yogurtland!

Grilled Veggie Burrito. Or just the Grilled Veggies as a side. I could eat this everyday. SO crunchy and roast-y and delish. Kill me, so I can go to heaven and exist on this and Olive Pit. (omg, also--- $1.50 for a bottle of Shock Top Beer right now and $1 Margaritas on Friday. That's $4 to buzzed people.)

Tried it out on Taco Tuesday. Came just after six and it wasn't too crowded. I was a little bummed because the drink specials ended at 6. Tried the carnitas tacos, lobster bisque, chips and salsa. The tacos were decent (great for a buck), loved the soup, loved the seasoning on the chips, and I could have drank the avocado salsa! We'll definitely be back (before 6). My only complaint is that it took a while for the food to come out, but understandable since it was Taco Tuesday. Oh, we also ordered burritos to go for lunch the next day. They were huge and came with white beans which was nice. Make sure to get LOTS of salsa if you're taking your order to go!

Just not as good as I remember it to be. I'm coming back because I've had way better before but this time, it was rather disappointing. Had the carne asada burrito, or in my case, it was the bean burrito with some meat in it. It was just pure beans. I had to dig and look for the meat. Chips were fine but I'm just sad about the burrito. Hopefully they won't let me down next time.

This place is fantastic. Typical cheap eats, hole in the wall, SoCal Mexican place but after going to enough of them in the last 15 yrs this one stands out for 2 reasons. Reason #1 is the papa taco, it's relatively rare to find a place selling a hard shell potato taco to begin with but this one, $1 on Tuesdays, is excellent with plenty of flavor and all the trimmings (cheese/crema/pico.) Reason #2, and I'll be honest this is a five star item on its own, the lobster bisque. The bisque is a $1 on Tuesdays and is the best bisque I've ever had, ever, it really doesn't have any right to be as good as it; flavorful, a touch of spice and a little tomato...don't expect any meat though they have to save money somehow.

I'm not really to sure why this place gets good reviews, but I felt the food is so-so. The last time I came here I ordered some carne asada tacos and my coworkers ordered the nachos and some tacos. I was actually quite disappointed with the Nachos, now what kind mexican restaurant do you know who puts their Nachos in the microwave so that they can get soggy. i thought the chips for nachos are suppose to be crunchy, not to mention how oily the entree was. I hear this place has great deals on Taco Tuesday, but after my last visit I'm not sure if i would even be willing to waste my dollar then have to spend more money to even redeem myself with better food. Well the upside to this place is that Yogurtland is right next door.

I did not see what the big deal was about this place, The basics of the food the core items had no real flavor. I've come here with two different friends both Caucasian so maybe white people like it more, I don't know but what i do know is that it lacked something and was not worth it. It ain't races if i constantly notice a certain type of people do something like butter their flour tortillas.... Kevin! Its different but what ever floats your boat.

I tried Durango's with a friend for the first time last Tuesday and I will definitely be coming back! Their Taco Tuesday menu is HUGE and everything on it is pretty much $1! I had 2 chicken tacos and tortilla soup for $3.40! Also, these aren't the standard taco Tuesday "street size" tacos; the tacos are a respectable size for only being $1. We didn't order drinks, but did notice that there were margaritas for $1 as well. Finally, an added plus is their outdoor seating - perfect for summer! If I'm in the area on a Tuesday night, I will be stopping at Durango's!

Taco Tuesday!! $1 Tacos and $1 Soups. I normally get Veggie tacos and a spicy tomato soup. Sometimes I throw in some chips and Guacamole ($2.50, such a deal). The Salsa bar is really good too. Everything on the menu looks great but I normally just go on tuesdays. The Veggie burrito is good, they have a lot of vegetarian options. They have breakfast, I've never had it but it looks really good! they have happy hour on Fridays only from 5-10pm 1.50$ domestics and appetizer deals. The Margaritas suck! Every day they have some special deal I just can't think of them right now. It's worth hitting up. It's good, healthy ( not greesy at all :), and inexpensive.

I love this place! They have a large seafood and vegetarian selection. In fact, they have a vegetarian menu. They do not use lard. They serve breakfast all day too, which is awesome. It is a small location, and mainly it is a self serve place. Ordered: Salmon, pumpkin with mango sauce - This is delicious, excellent and perfect! You have to try this dish. Huevos Rancheros - good (it came with awesome potatoes and chilaquiles) vegetarian Chilaquiles - very good vegetarian breakfast burrito - very good Overall, this place was worth driving from West Anaheim for.

OVERALL RATING = 8 / 10 Overall FOOD = 7.8 What I ate: Taco: Carnitas = 7 Taco: Asada = 8 Taco: Pollo = 8 Taquito = 6 Flauta = 6 What I drank: Water = 5 ATMOSPHERE = 8 SERVICE = 8 ---COMMENTS--- Went w/wife + friends. This place knocked out El Torito as the best Taco Tuesday deal I know so far. The quality of the meat is probably comparable to El Torito, but Durango also offers a different type of grilled corn tortilla for their beef and chicken tacos, which I preferred. They also offer other meats such as lingua (tongue) and seafood items. I hear their Lobster Taco is good and worth the $5 price. Just so you're aware, the taquitos and flautas, although only a $1 and very good, only comes with one. As I approached the fast food establishment, there were 3 things I noticed: Long line (that moved fairly quickly) Crowded with people (Taco Tues.) A two-man band in the tight corner of the room, playing Bob Marley. They sounded awesome. I'd say it was a good first impression. APPEAL = 8 Looking forward to another Taco Tuesday and finally trying out their Lobster Taco. Enjoy!

Durango is at the top of my list. Their food is always delicious, but there is more. The staff is outstanding. They are polite and very patient with gringos who mispronounce Spanish menu items. Also, they have many delicious, filling vegetarian items, and there is usually a vegetarian item on their specials menu. And one of the best things about the place is that they serve their food on REAL DISHES!!! That's right, a casual dining atmosphere with REAL PLATES and UTENSILS. This shows that the cooks and the rest of the staff take pride in their food. And it reduces the amount of plastics produced by factories and ultimately sent to landfills or the ocean.

OK, I just had the most depressing burrito here. I ordered an blackened shrimp burrito which consisted almost entirely of cabbage. At first I was disappointed in the lack of shrimp until I finally found one. It tasted exactly like the defrosted precooked shrimp you get in the giant bag at costco, but smaller. It had no seasoning whatsoever (I don't know where the "blackened" part was supposed to be, as it was pure pink) & no amount salsa could save it. It didn't make me sick; however, it did make me feel very sad. This is the only time I've been to this place & since I know that even good restaurants can have a bad day, I usually like to give a place at least 2 or more tries before I dismiss it, but I just don't want to spend money to get depressed, no matter how cheap it is.

One of my local favorites, especially for taco Tuesday! I know, it's Orange County,Taco's aren't hard to come by, but in my opinion this is one of the better spots and their tuesday deal is even better than most. All the meats are above average but if you're looking for something special... PORK!

mMmmm Durangos!!! I work down the street from the place & on ocassions I'll decide to make a pit stop for lunch. They have really delish tacos either small or large size & the baja fish & blackened fish tacos are bomb bomb bomb!! wow they have really good food..last time I came in I ordered a blackened fish taco salad...it had lots of cheese, baked tortilla chips, lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, salsa, & huge slab of fresh blackened fish...the carne asada & chicken aint half bad either! They have taco tuesday & a lot of people will come in ..so the place gets packed at lunch time & $1 soups & pozole really good!! I also like their aguas frescas..I usually get their melon flavored one..& also they have happy hour in the evening w. beers & margaritas to be enjoyed for all...next time I catch a break I'll def. come back ...

Gotta say this! TACO TUESDAYs! Man its cheap and totally worth it. They not only serve tacos, but they serve sopas, taquitos, flautas, chips and salsa... its very delicious. I typically order the lobster taco because its very very good. I love this place and the food. BTW I like their salsas!

We chose this place for our wedding caterer on the beach in Dana Point, OC a year ago. The owner, Alfredo, and his brother are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet--honest, down-to-earth, and always helpful to meet whatever your needs are. They cater a large party every weekend, and have tons of experience--indoor/outdoor weddings, showers, birthdays, picnics in the park. Very professional and capable of carrying out events. Incidentally, we chose them for their food. Out of all the caterers we looked at, this one had a full-time restaurant as well, so Alfredo fixed up two huge plates of samples for us in one of his two Brea locations; the lobster taco is amazingly fresh, with juicy chunks of lobster. Tamales are excellent, although you have to order these for catering probably since they never have them in the restaurant. Flautas, ceviche and other appetizers are fresh and delicious. My husband likes the carnitas and the humongo salads which could feed one hungry person or a normal couple. I love that they ring a cow bell every time someone tips the jar. These are some wonderful souls, so tip often! We've been back several times over the last year, and Alfredo still greets us with a smile and friendly handshake.

Owner makes all the difference! My family have been regulars here since Alfredo bought the place. It is our favorite Mexican...ever. Pros: Awesome, creative and unusual food choices. Extremely friendly atmosphere. Owner greets you by name (after several visits) :) Reasonable prices. Cons: Seems to need some sprucing up. If you really want to get a feel for the restaurant, avoid Taco Tuesday. It's too crowded and overly-loud. Tomato soup is a treat. Lobster tacos are delightful. The best dish on the menu is the lobster enchiladas with mango butter salsa. Get it with white beans and skip the rice. You will thank me.

I yelped this place a year ago and gave them 4 stars. I've been back several times since then and wasn't nearly as impressed. I'm giving them 2.5 stars this time bc the food has really gone down hill - chips and salsa are ok but that's about it for me. I'm sorry bc I really wanted to be a faithful diner at this place but I can't bring myself to waste my money here any longer.

First off, the picture posted with this location looks NOTHING like it. For one thing, there is no carpeted floors and there are no booths in this place. It is either low or high tables and some outside patio tables. Not sure where that photo is from but the chairs are not even that nice. Durango is one of those hole-in-the-wall places but not the gems they typically are. The food and portion sizes are fine but not great. The service is good, however, and the general cleanliness is 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. This place is decent for a cheaper meal and the flavors are authentic. The one BIG redeeming factor of this place is they do have fresh watermelon drink on tap. I love finding the homemade fresh watermelon drinks and this one does rank up there with that. Overall this is a decent place but I do know of other better eats. Another redeeming factor is that Yogurtland is next door so you can get a nice dessert afterwards. Favorite dish: no favorite but great watermelon drink! Go out and EAT!

We went here for Taco Tuesday after seeing how packed it was when we were at Yogurtland. I ordered off the Taco Tuesday Dollar menu. Tacos were ok, and the soups (albondegas & lobster bisque) were really good. Salsa bar had about 4 salsas to choose from. My friend got the Veggie burrito, and she really enjoyed it. Would like to go back and try more items on the menu.

thank you restaurant.com for introducing us to this hidden gem! we've driven by it so many times and never even noticed. the prices are recession-friendly, and the food is authentic - coming from an asian at least! :) *chile relleno - A, as close as i've ever gotten to the ones i've had in mexico! *veggie burrito - B+, it's still good when eaten as leftovers, and not the usual vegetarian burrito since they have roasted veggies in them *fried jalapeno - C, nothing special, just jalapeno stuffed with cheese and dipped in batter and fried *vegetarian tacos - A, good size and loved that they were served on corn tortillas *horchata - A++++, i love my horchata and its even better when you can refill it yourself. -loved their salsas - especially the mild red salsa and the avocado salsa. -coming back here on taco tuesdays for their $1 specials -super friendly staff and i love the small business feel of the place we'll be back soon! :)

I love this place! Taco Tuesdays is the best! They have dollar tacos with a freaking vegetarian option! No one does that! Their tacos are bigger than I expected and super yummy! This place has some great authentic food and a great vibe! if you go during lunch time there is a line so be prepared to wait, not that long, but if you have a half hour lunch hour be aware there is a wait. They also have a Friday Happy Hour from 5pm-10pm featuring $1 Margaritas and domestic beers do I smell a UYE here at these prices??? *wink wink*

i came here for taco tuesday, since my friend got me hungry. and i've heard about this place, so i decided to give it a try . as usual.. since i'm not a BIG taco fan, i dont know what to order.. and they have a full white board of choices for only $1! so that made it even harder for me to make a decision. anyways ... i picked the beef and chicken taco from the bottom three taco choices on the menu. the chicken is pretty good, the flavor is pretty good . the beef is a little hard to chew . but the watermelon drink and melon drink . OMG. they're GOOD! i'd make a trip just for that . ill definitely go back there and explore more options! BIG PLUS : they accept credit cards!!!! btw. i uploaded some real durango pictures. sorry if its a little hard on the eyes.. i forgot to bring my real camera.

I love coming to Durango's! You always get great food and great service. My wife and I come here almost every Tuesday for their Taco Tuesday. They have all sorts of tacos, soups and other things for $1. My favorite thing to order on non taco tuesday visits are the Alhambra taco (steak with bacon and peppers!) I don't think I have ever had a bad meal there and the owner is always there helping out and checking on you. I agree that the decor may need a bit of a makeover but the food more than makes up for it.

Went here with a $25 gift cert. that was purchased for $2 online. Great deal. We got 4 lunch special burritos which came with a free soup or margarita; we all went with the chicken tortilla soup which was good but no chicken. Burrito was large and tasty with sides of beans and rice. Salsa bar was good but salsa verde tasted a little off. Very friendly people working inside as well. Did I mention it was a great deal!

I sure do LOVE tuesday night of vegetarian tacos at DURANGO! This restaurant is fun. Brea be prepared for some authentic food and some culture in your city. The service great, I have never met a salsa I didn't like here and the beers are COLD! eveything is YUM! Best vegetarian tacos I have ever had.

Came here for Taco Tuesday...yes all tacos $1 but they really lacked flavor. Kinda disappointed drove here with a group of friends chanting "Tacos, Tuesday...Taco Tuesday" over and over, But unfortunately this was a Fail. I have $1 taco truck places closer to home, what I really wanted to try were their hard shell tacos but was "No Bueno". Oh well, they can' t all be home runs.

I was having one of those "I dont know what to eat & dont want to battle traffic" moments, when the phrase "taco salad" popped into my mind like hot toast outta the toaster.... so the YELP search began and Durango was the lucky winner of this lottery search... I was left disappointed =(. I feel kinda bad since the service was so good. The guy at the register was so nice.... but....here's why they get 3 stars. CHEESE.... Mexican cuisine sometimes uses a kind of cheese that smells like vomit to me, i think its cotija. I HATE it, like others might hate cilantro. When I ordered my salad, I asked what kind of cheese and was told "jack and cheddar' cool. i thought. i shoulda check my box before leaving (we ordered take out) cause, behold VOMIT CHEESE was scattered atop my salad =( too late to go back... I scraped off the top layer. FLAVOR: I ordered fish taco salad, based on a review I read here, but I got about 4 to 5 pieces of fish that tasted flavorless and a little TOO blackened (like they were too thin and dried out from the cooking process) The beans at the bottom were smothered in cheese, and I think I got about 6 chips total. SALSAS were just okay. to be honest, If i had been up to the effort, I prolly coulda whipped up a better grilled tilapia taco salad than the one I ordered. PRICE: one carnitas burrito, one fish taco salad and two jarritos, the total??? $20. I felt that was kinda high for what we got =( Their deals look like a real bargain, $1 margaritas durign happy hour??? no way!!! maybe i'll try that, if I come back.

I'm a new fan of Durangos thanks to my sister. I really like their chilaquiles and their vegetarian tacos which are basically awesome quesadillas. They actually have a vegetarian menu! You can watch futbol or whatever is on the tvs at the time while you eat your food.

This review is for taco Tuesday only. I must say they have awesome tacos here and only for $1. Yes, $1 could get you a meat filled taco. I had both soft and crunchy tacos and I'm a fan of their crunchy ones topped with lettuces and they were a decent size. Fresh salsa bar with a large variety to chose from. I was a happy camper.

Absolutely LOVE this place. Never have I found a place that serves their burritos and food with white beans, which I have always loved! The employees are so nice and always cook your food right in front of you so it is steaming hot! I tried this place after coming across it on Restaurants.com and have officially bought about 10 more certificates for there! Beers from 1.00, Margarita Wednesday (free Margaritas), and taco Tuesdays.... I see this place in my future for sure! AMAZING!

Taco Tuesday....but so much more...there's times when you just realize its a Tuesday afternoon...and you remember...that wonderful saying "TACO TUESDAY". Durango not only offers $1 tacos on tuesdays, but they have a complete menu with $1 items...it's like the McDonalds $1 menu but way cooler. I've had the carnitas, lengua, and beef tacos...but i must say...i'm a sucker for their flautas...as simple as the food can get...but just done right. I've also tried their lobster bisque..to be honest..i've never had a lobster bisque that i love...but i always seem to order it when I see it on the menu..again, i wasn't impressed with the soup...but maybe it's the soup..rather than the restaurant..anyways, the food was good, cheap, and a great variety for the expected taco tuesday. Definitely coming here whenever i'm thinking about getting through a slow Tuesday afternoon..

machaca burrito FTW!! all morning, all day, all night. I almost always get food here after I work out at the gym. I look for something that is going to be filling with a decent amount of protein, so I usually stick with a machaca burrito. The reason why I always come back aside from how great the food tastes, is that I get no heart burn. I have a history of getting heart burn with no matter what I eat, but this place is fresh and food is great. The staff are welcoming and fantastic. two thumbs up.

Went for $1 Fish Tacos Thursdays. Fish was fresh with good tartar sauce. Also got some lengua tacos - lots of meat but a bit lacking in flavor. Lobster taco was GOOD. Chunks of lobster with some home made sauce and crumbled cheese. Horchata with cinammon was quite refreshing to wash it all down. Pretty legit Mexican place.

Durango's... old style and simple... funky and sometimes far from spotless (but never dirty)... great food, decent prices and easy parking... taco tuesday? I avoid that unless it is 3:00 in the afternoon due to the crowd. They serve fresh fruit! That's a huge plus for me. Great tacos, good burritos and usually very good fish plates. Awesome selection. Many excellent soups. Breakfast too! One of my favorite casual lunch or dinner joints.

This is an interesting place that attempts to serve healthy Mexican food. The feature daily specials, a great salsa bar, and a counter cooler. I love their seafood burritos: blackened shrimp, lobster, and mahi-mahi. Their enchiladas, soups, and chips are all very good as well. The menu options are reasonably priced. Don't forget to try their melon water, which is very refreshing. FINAL VERDICT: Food 4/5...great healthy alternative to traditional Mexican food. Service 5/5....the staff is always friendly and helpful. Ambiance 4/5....clean and simple.

This place is great for vegetarians! Taco Tuesday is the bomb with their veggie tacos. They have yummy charbroiled toasty tortillas filled with black beans and other veggies. Also, their caramel stuffed Churros are BOMB! The strawberry ones are not so great though, not sure why :/ I also see that they have lobster tacos now...can't wait to try them!!! They also have a GREAT salsa bar with a really good avocado type salsa (not guacamole - although theirs is great too). And finally...their drinks...ooooh yummmm! They have watermelon and cantaloupe and horchata which are all to die for!

Once you walk in you will be greeted by smiling faces and the incredible smell of cooking food. Where else can you find a Friday Happy Hour from 5:00pm - 10:00pm? Nowhere! That and a multitude of reasons is why i love this place. Fresh delicious food served quickly and made to order. Margaritas kinda weak but for a dollar at Happy Hour? Definitely worth it. I recommend the lobster tacos, chile relleno, breakfast tacos, enchiladas.. everything! They even have a low-cal/veggie menu if you swing that way. Salsa bar is excellent and never lacking in choices. Horchata is generic but really, what's bad about that in a cafe such as this? A true diamond in the strip mall it's located at.

Taco Tuesdays are the way to go! $1 Tacos! The veggie tacos are usually what I stick to but I recently tried the shredded beef taco. It was equally as good so now I'm torn. Unfortunately, they have the worst margarita I have ever had (which is not an exaggeration). I'm really not one to leave any booze behind but I had the hardest time finishing this margarita.

Howzit!? Taco Tuesday!!! $1 for over 10 different kinds of tacos along with a few soup selections. Food quality has gone down from a year ago. Carne Asada have been overcooked the past few visits. Great value overall on Tuesdays. Friendly staff. Notable dish: Chile Colorado (marinated beef with red sauce) taco and Shredded Beef Crunchy Taco. Roasted Tomato Soup. Also try the watermelon juice with free refills.

Went back here this week for Taco Tuesday. The food was awesome as always, but I totally forgot the green salsa! I had it all ready to go, and then got so excited when my food was ready, that I totally forgot. : ( Don't forget the salsa, people.

I recently tried Durango's this past Friday and I loved it. I was craving a good Mexican breakfast and I got that. It was already 12:30 but I got machaca, which normally comes with potatoes and chiliquilas but I was able to get mine with rice and beans instead with tortillas. My bf got a carne asada burrito and and added rice, sour cream and avocado. Our total was only $15.00 which is not bad especially since I substituted so much stuff. My bf was surprised we found a place like this Brea!

DAMN GREAT FOOD!!! $1 tacos!! I think its on tuesdays. Salsa is awesome here, very fresh. The chips are just too damn good. And it's a plus that it's a 5 min walk from my work. The service is just superb. There's nothing bad I can say about this place. It's everything you expect from an exceptionally good Mexican joint.

Came here for the first time tonight and instantly knew, it'd be a repeat! Id love to give this place 5 stars but im only giving it 4 because it was my first time and i need to revisit before i 5star it.. Love the authenticity of the place. It's really hard to find good Mexican food in brea, actually in all of oc but this place was really good! The portions are pretty big and will fill you up. I had the shredded chicken tacos on crunchy shells and my bf had a stuffed chicken quesadilla. Love their beans and the loads of cheese they put on it! Prices are really cheap, I'll definitely have to check back in on taco tues though! I keep hearing about their different soups and margaritas so ill definitely have to switch it up and try those next time! But they're menu is great, lots of choices to choose from. They even have tamales if you ask but I think the tamales change everyday like tonight was a Saturday and they had chicken and beef. The service gets 5 stars! Can't wait to come back!

I love Mexican food so I am always in search of a good place to try. This place is great, very resonable priced, good salsa bar and good people. Tuesday is their $1 taco day. Have to try the soup too, also $1 on Tuesday. It get busy during lunch time.

Fast-food-style ordering. Had to beg for chips. Almost empty container of stale ice tea. Single miniscule thin paper napkin. Not quite hot cheese enchilada on room-temperature plate. Counter help with multiple piercings. Loud TV throughout restaurant. Flavorful food and thoughtful presentation. Modest portion. Pass on repeat visit.

This place use to be "Taco Mesa" which is my favorite Mexican place and it's family owned. This place is still just as good and growing on me the more I go there. FYI - Yogurt land is next dorr to put out those Hot and Spicy Mouth fires.

A work mate and I walk miles to enjoy Taco Tuesdays. Two really good carnitas tacos, tortilla soup and a drink for around $5. Come on - what's not to like? Alfredo, I'm going to bring home a tray of tamales for the fam one of these evenings.

I've been to a few mexican grills around the Brea/Fullerton area, and honestly this place is the closest I've come to authentic mexican food yet! I went on a tuesday (they have great "taco tuesday" deals) and ordered a couple of chicken tacos and a carne asada burrito. The tacos were pretty good especially for only being a dollar, BUT the burrito was so bomb! The beans had a special flavor and the meat was perfect! They also had a variety of sauces, which also proved to be just as good. I definitely recommend this place to everyone. They have deals throughout the week too, they do half-off burritos on Monday, dollar tacos on Tuesdays, and I believe dollar fish tacos on Thursdays. Check this place out!

Months ago I was craving some fish tacos but didn't know where to go. Before my lunch break, I checked Yelp to see if there were any places near my office where I could go to take of my craving. Durango seemed like a good choice-it had good reviews and it was near the office so off I went. The man behind the counter was nice enough. I ordered two fish tacos. The place wasn't very busy but it took about 15 minutes to get my food. The tacos were BIG so that was impressive. Unfortunately, it tasted disappointing. It was heavy on the batter and greasy (and soggy!). It was also had a sweet aftertaste which was odd... Needless to say, the tacos didn't win me over. Plus, the tables and floors were sticky which kind of bugs me. I'm a fan of hole in the wall restaurants and don't mind if the place is a little run down but sticky tables bug me! It is unlikely that I will visit the place again but if I do I hope I will have a better experience.

I ordered the lobster taco and it was okay. I agree with another poster about the frozen pre-cooked seafood comment. Also, I thought that there was too much cabbage...after all, I didn't order a cabbage taco. And, the nachos that came with the tacos...they tasted stale.

i have only ordered the grilled veggie burrito with wheat tortilla (under $7) and it has never done me wrong. its not your typical sloppy burrito - comes with grilled squash, carrots, tomatoes, black beans, guacamole, sour cream, and probably a few other things that i am forgetting. a good choice for dining if you want take out, are on a budget, and want healthy options. the cashier is really nice. the salsa bar has good mild sauce and is always fully stocked and clean.

Hungry after work. Too lazy to cook. Durango Mexican Grill. $1 Tuesdays. Brought home: 5 tacos of assorted meats. 1 lobster bisque soup. 1 potato jalapeno jack soup. 1 large bag of chips. Ate for delicious dinner. Will enjoy rest for breakfast right now. Not too shabby for $8, not too shabby at all. Mmmm, bisquey... Place is popular, it's always been packed when I've gone. The main register guy, Sal, is friendly and seems to know many by name. Food is delicious, albeit a little too hygienic for authenticity's sake, prices are low, and they serve breakfast all day. Mmmm, evening breakfast... And I live across the street from here. Mmmm, convenience...

Best Mexican food around, and not watered down for them gringos Even the vegetarian tacos rock on taco Tuesday. Small fresh tortillas, and none of that gross plain cheddar that you find in every freaking cookie cutter Mexican place. One dollar make you holla! Their salsa selection ain't nothing to scoff at either. Skip the baja fresh and lame Rubios, and head over here. Also, they also have some soccer aka futttboooool on. SCOOOOOOOOORE

Ever since I discovered Durango Mexican Grill last year, this is my go-to Mexican place. I've been here many times and the service is always excellent and accommodating. It is also affordable and they give you big portions. Why I love coming here is because you pay $8~10 for a meal that would cost $10 more at a sit-down Mexican restaurant like Acapulco's, yet the food is better, authentic, and is the same quality! Love the salsa bar as well. They offer a lot of variety. Onto the food, though. Things I love: -Steak nachos (flavorful, not too salty, simply amazing) -Carne Asada plate (comes with tortillas) (great portions, tender meat, good sides) Things that are good, but not my favorites: -Chicken nachos (were yummy, but too salty) -Potato taco deluxe (close to being something I loved, but not quite. The use peppered mashed potatoes and not diced, seasoned potatoes. It is an interesting flavor, though. I got one in a freshly made hard shell.) -Shrimp and chicken enchiladas with verde sauce (Flavorful, but nothing extraordinary) -Pollo con arroz (The problem with this one, I think, is that the red sauce gets overwhelming after a while. It almost cancels out the flavor. The portions are so big that you don't want to continue eating it all. It is still tasty, however.) Things I didn't care for: -Chicken burrito deluxe (Kind of flavorless and the ingredients, together, don't mix very well. Too much cabbage.) I don't remember if I had the chicken and shrimp tacos deluxe, too, but I won't elaborate on those since I don't know. Also, sorry this review is kind of crappy. I am writing it in a hurry.

Durangos is hands down my absolute favorite place for taco Tuesday! Prices are great. The staff is always friendly and accommodating when we sit outside. Carnitas are my personal favorite always fresh and juicy. Salsa bar is always stocked with tons of choices. They're definitely on top of things here... And Don't forget the margarita homemade and strong.

Coming here on Tuesday is always great. Taco Tuesday deal! For lunch I ordered Carnitas taco, Adobado taco, and lobster brisque soup for $3.26. - At noon, line is usually out the door. - Lobster soup: brisque is a thick creamy soup. no lobster. just croutons. tasty and a bit spicy. my favorite. - Carnitas and adobado are my favorites too. good recommendation. Both pork. - Not the best tacos ever, but no complaints for $1 from me. - 10x better than Rubios on Tuesday. - Salsa bar. Splash lime on them tacos - Best mexican place to come for a cheap and quick eat around the area.

  • Nicole K.

$1 taco? Hell yessss This was my 3rd time here! Long line out the door but the service is relatively quick for such a small place that only has 1 register.... and $1 tacos are WORTH IT! I forgot how small they are they are so this past time I went I didn't order enough - 2 tiny tacos is not enough for a grown woman. Didn't want to get back in the long line! Next time I'll order more tacos. I also tried the tortilla soup which was listed as a "creamy" soup, but it wasn't too thick/creamy in my opinion, so I liked it! It's nice that they give it to you right away when you order so you can kind of have it as an appetizer as you wait for your tacos. There's some magical green avocado sauce that's amazing at the salsa bar!! I love that stuff. Their salsas are just the right amount of spicy.

Taco Tuesday $1 tacos!!!! Small authentic Mexican tacos. Delicioso! Great flavorful salsa bar. My favorite street tacos hands down! PS - I have no idea why people think so highly of king taco... I've had them a half a dozen times from at least two locations and once at a catered event....they are way over marinated, salty, and not nearly as good as places like this.

This place was really good but it'll need to be re-visited in order to get a better rating. We ordered a ton of food and all of it was good and we'll priced for the area. I especially liked the huevos rancheros (but better without the carnitas) and the chicken enchiladas. My least favorite dish was the enchiladas with molé sauce. The watermelon juice was yummy too.

I've been here several times before and this place feels like locals only. They have a weekly taco deal and so I feel like they have a following of regulars. The tacos are delicious! The guy working at the counter was not very friendly and never smiled...he gladly let me get my own water cups rather than hand them to me...Thanks!

This place is filthy dirty! It belongs in Santa Ana, not Brea. Although the food is good, the environment has become a disaster! It's really a shame the owners have allowed this to happen. If they cannot correct this, please...close up shop and go elsewhere.

Honestly the best Mexican food in Brea, hands down. Blackened fish tacos are to die for.

Durango Mexican Grill works to your advantage during Happy Hour, Taco Tuesday, and for their Daily Specials. The service is pretty good here and the workers are friendly. The salad bar is very decent and from the looks of it, all of it seems fresh. What annoys me is how they allow the restaurant to depreciate so badly on the inside. It's messy and the restrooms need a good cleaning. I might have just missed the lunch crowd that created a dire mess, but it just seemed dirty. You want to dine at a place that's inviting and I predict that won't be the case in the future, unless they really tidy up or renovate the place a bit. The presentation of the food is above average. The Salmon special that my buddy Eugene ordered just looked awesome. The fish was cooked beautifully and the colors of the entree just makes me hungry. The Carne Asada and Chicken tacos also looked great. However, the chicken was dry and the beef was slightly burnt. I expect a lot more from $2.50 tacos. It wasn't bad, but it didn't necessarily persuade me to want to come back either. Average on all accounts. There's a variety of Mexican food to choose from and it doesn't get boring, but the food just didn't wow me. Maybe, I was just expecting too much for a Friday.

This place is great! I went on Taco Tuesday and got a chicken taco, carnitas taco (my favorite) and chicke flautas all for $3.29! Can't beat that.

Great place. Small mom and pop shop but food is great here. I had the chicken enchiladas recommend to me by the cashier. They were smothered in green sauce which is a plus since most places act stingy with there sauce. They also have a hot sauce bar with 3-4 different types of sauces you can try. I tried the hottest one which wasn't to bad but I have a high tolerance for spicy food. Overall great place will def come back.

I first came here back in 2009. I must say that the prices here are very reasonably cheap. Taco Tuesdays are the best days to come. I honestly wish I lived nearby here...I'd be a regular here by now!! I usually order fish tacos, which I must say are the best ever. The service is quick and the staff is very nice and cheerful. I have tried other spots, but this place is by far one f the best Mexican spots to eat. Anyone who doesn't agree with me well, Ill challenge you to a duel

Their food is great when they have it, but their customer service is lacking. I've gone 3 times just to make sure the first times weren't just an off day, but nothing improved. Each time I've gone they've been out of something. The last time I went it, it was at 9 pm (they close at 10). I asked for their albondiga soup, tamales, and carnita tacos. The girl informed me upon ordering that they were out of carnitas. No problem, ordered another meat. When I received my soup, there was only broth and veggies in the bowl. When I ask where the meatballs were, she tells me that they ran out. Well thanks for not letting me know in advance! Switched it out for pozole, which was great. Walked over to the salsa bar and found all of the containers empty. When I asked the girl for lemons or limes, she said they ran out. Unheard of! Come to find out that they had them, but she was too lazy to go back and cut one. The manager eventually brought them out after I asked again. About 5 minutes later, she lets me know that they also ran out of tamales, completely unapologetic about it. At this point, I just gave up and asked for my money back for the rest of my food. Also, they started clearing out the salsa bar at 9:15 and mopping the floor while people were still eating, which pretty rude to the customers trying to eat without the overwhelming smell of cleaners in the air. To be fair, I did go on Tuesdays for their specials, however, if they know they're going to get a lot of people in on those days they should be more prepared and have more food on hand.

I love love love Durango. I grew up in Brea, but now live about an hour away. This is a "must visit" spot for both me and my fiance any time we're in town. We love walking in and feeling like regulars. Alfredo and the people behind the counter are always friendly and do a great job of making us feel welcome. The food: My fiance is a big fan of the Blackened Calamari Deluxe Burrito - as in he rarely orders anything else! Occasionally he'll go for a shrimp burrito or cheese enchiladas with green sauce. I'm a bit more diverse with my ordering, but I really love the Veggie tostada. Some reviewers have commented on the size of the dollar tacos. They are slightly smaller than the regular tacos, and they have 1 tortilla instead of 2. If I'm ordering the regular tacos, 2 is plenty, but on Taco Tuesday I'll either get 3 or order something else on the side (like guacamole! yum). We're not big fans of the fish tacos, but enjoy just about everything else we've tried. The restaurant: I don't go here for ambience, I go here for delicious & reasonably priced food. Nonetheless, I've never felt uncomfortable here. I see families and groups of women eating here all the time. I like that I can sit outside when the weather is nice, and that there are tables inside when it isn't! They also have live music on most Fridays. To sum it up: Friendly service and good food. I could eat here every day. My fiance dreams of a Durango opening near our house.

I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants, both dine-in and fast food. Today, I found my new spot! For those of you searching for a Taco Tuesday experience like no other, look no further than Durango Mexican Grill in Brea, Ca. Durango Mexican Grill is truly fresh and authentic. The Taco Tuesday specials offer a variety of delicious tacos from your common carnitas "street taco" to an unexpected, delectably served, Chile Verde taco. I am excited to return and try the other tacos on the menu. The menu also offers burritos, sopes, tortas, and full entrees. The open salsa bar was a perfect addition with various salsas available to suit your palate. The service was top-notch; service with a smile! The seating arrangement is comfy inside with available seating outdoors for a nice cool day. I will definitely return!

This is my favorite spot to hit up for Taco Tuesday! I usually get the taco de papa (my favorite) along with the other options they have for a dollar. Any choice you make wont be a bad one since their meat doesn't ever seem to be overcooked or anything. For the most part, the wait for the food isnt too bad. They have a salsa bar to help prepare yourself from what's to come and the workers there seem really friendly. The atmosphere is chill and there's even spots outside to sit at if you feel like it's too cramped. This place is hard to beat compared to the other places I've been to. The taco I would say is the size of the palm of your hand and they try to not cheat you out of your meal. Definitely recommend to everyone!

Tough to beat dollar tacos on Tuesday. Tacos were okay. You order at the counter and they call your name and you either pick up or they bring it to your table. It's crowded on Tuesday but they do have outdoor seating and Yogurtland next door.

This is our 2nd time here. The, taco's and lobster bisque are still amazing. The horchata has a creamy cinnamon flavor. There is a little bit of a wait. But it is so worth it

I'm sure it deserves a good rating on a regular day but for what you can buy for a buck on Taco Tuesday, this place is great! We ordered 10 tacos, 2 orders of the lobster bisque and we paid $12 + change. We had beef and carnitas tacos. They had good flavor and really good portions. They didn't skimp on anything. I thought the tacos would be served on the tiny tortillas but they weren't! The bisque was another good purchase. Overall, really good value for what you pay. We'll be visiting this taco spot again on Tuesdays.

Best hole in the wall Mexican I've had in years. This place is absolutely amazing. I had the blackened calamari taco and a carne asada taco. The calamari was so tender and the taco was overflowing with meat. The seasoning on the calamari went well with the cream that was on the taco. The carne asda was great and the beans are one of a kind. I will be making this place a regular stop on my lunch rout.

The food quality is great. Everything I've tried is very good. Prices are very reasonable. It's nicer than just a little taco shop, but not quite a formal sit down with waiter. But that's good because it's nice sit down restaurant quality with taco shop prices. We've never been disappointed and we've been there many time. Good portions. Good tastes. Very reasonable prices.

Fact is, "A-OK" is the old NASA abbreviation for "All OK" & speaking as one who throu was born in southern California, worked his way through undergraduate & grad school and ran a restaurant & catering company of his own, I feel qualified to say that sadly, All is NOT OK for Durango Mexican Grill. When I FINALLY managed to get a look at pictures of what this place has to offer by way of its foods, I could tell at a glance that what they serve is unquestionably appealing to the eye...BUT, insofar as a menu of more than a few "sample offerings", a person has to really search to find out what is being offered, and in what sort of an environment it is being served. Finding $1.00 Tacos and Soups on Tuesday was a great discovery, as was the Happy Hour, and Friday Margaritas being offered for $1.00. If I were still living in Brea (as I was when I was going to school at Cal State Fullerton), you'd likely find me among "Regulars" at Durango, even though I must admit I find the tables & chairs in the dining area to be display cold and off-putting, and well-replaced with more-rustic alternatives, I think. Get the menu attractively laid out and displayed, make the diningroom comfortable, and make the food taste as good as it looks, and THEN, everything may be "A-OK"... Or, at least, that's what I'd say, J~

Great Food, Friendly service and Honest Staff ! I love them! one time, before I actually know this restaurant, I accidently left my small wallet on the outside sitting table outside of the restaurant, I was on the phone, and walked away forgetting it on the table, one of their lady catering staff saw it and kept it safe inside the store for me until I came frantically looking for it - and she asked "are you looking for a wallet?" :) Long story short, I was soooo glad to get my wallet and ID back (everything was there), and so impressed that there is still good, honest people like her, that is how I became introduced to this great restaurant. Come here, you will not be disappointed! :)

First time. Definitely coming again. The food is really good. Loved the grilled salmon. The chips and guacamole are good. I didn't like the flavored iced tea in the beginning, but I started to like it towards the end. The ice tea actually tastes good. I liked sitting outside, it was a good partly cloudy day. Definitely a new favorite.

They don't really need my review, and my worry is that the place will be even more ridiculously crowded on Taco Tuesday than it is now if I add my worshipful assessment to the list, but what the heck. I am a vegetarian and eat very little dairy; their potato taco is perhaps the best I have ever had. They put it in a corn tortilla, and a sprinkling of cotija cheese makes it melt in your mouth. My stomach is growling just thinking about it. The chips and salsa are my other favorite, and you know they're good if they deserve that rating. The thing that's so great is the salsa bar. The super orange one on the far left is HOT, but after two or three visits, it's gonna be your favorite. But the mild salsa is also great, and the green salsa is decadent! It is thin but creamy and must have avocado as a base. Whatever it is, I can't stop eating it. Service is slow. They make everything after you order it, and the presentation is good. I have ordered the grilled veggies, and they are pretty enough to qualify as an entree. The only problem is that on Tuesdays the line is out the door. The decor is pretty bad; look up and you'll see that the ceiling tiles have been devoted to compliments from long-gone customers. Somebody tell them about Yelp so they can take the tacky tiles down! Sometimes they have live music, and if you're there when they have the dollar margaritas, know that they don't actually taste like margaritas, but get them anyway! You won't regret anything you order at Durango. Sit back, get an order of chips, try all the salsas, and your food will come out eventually, and it will be good! One very cool thing: a homeless guy came in the other day, and I quietly offered to pay for his food, but the guy behind the counter said it was OK because he had already paid for it. This elevates my rating to five stars; the employees are good people. You may have driven past Durango countless times without stopping, but it's a gem.

Carne Asada fries and Chicken Tacos. We went on a Friday night so they had $1.50 beers, that was cool. But it wasn't Taco Tuesday so the tacos were regular price. :( The nachos were enough to share with two people. It had cheese and sour cream but missing the guacamole. The tortilla chips were homemade and a bit too salty. The tacos were OK, most people probably like this place for the price, but I'm still a huge fan of the Taqueria down the street. Overall I'd say I was pretty disappointed for this four star place. The customers also seemed like a fight could break out at any time. I don't recommend ladies go at night alone.

It's not fancy, nor is it a sit-down-and-get-waited-on restaurant (order at the counter), but you can't go wrong eating at Durango's! The staff is friendly. The food is made with fresh ingredients, made to order. Wonderful grilled tacos! Vegetarian options! Fresh salsa bar! Taco Tuesdays are a great deal! A good selection of cold beer! Outdoor seating, too. I highly recommend Durango's!

Visited for the first time today. Bowl of Albondigas and Nachos w/Asada. I wanted to like this place so bad, but not a very good first impression. Albondigas was really good and so was the service. Hence the 3 stars. BUT ... The Carne Asada, NOT so good. Real fatty and tasted really bland with no seasoning. Not sure if I'll be back. If I do, will definitely stay away from the loco Asada.

I love coming here for Taco Tuesdays, but I don't think I would go if it weren't for the lobster bisque and tortilla soup, and I definitely would not go on any other day. The soups are such a good deal at $1 each. The tacos are just so-so. They don't have the typical al pastor so I usually get adobada for the slightly-more-authentic street-style tacos. I think it's pork...and it's a bit dry, but the seasoning is good. The most consistently good tacos I've had are the beef tacos, which have shredded beef in a bigger single layer tortilla. The chile colorado tacos are also good. They are in the bigger tortilla, and the meat has been marinated in some green sauce. The salsa bar is pretty decent, but I'm not a huge fan of their salsas (not spicy enough). Overall, the quality varies heavily. They don't always have all the soups, I guess it's kind of on a rotating basis or they just run out of stuff. Sometimes everything is too salty. Sometimes they don't put croutons in the lobster bisque or tortillas in the tortilla soup. If you happen to come on a good day, it's amazing. Otherwise, it'll still be a cheap meal.

Greetings fellow Yelp'rs, I agree with Yvette and many others, "I have also found my new spot". I've been to many places that claim to be authentic......NO CERRITOS! LOL! Seriously though, this place is one of those two in ones, where the establishment is suited to either dine in or to quickly pick up your food and joyfully go about your business. They provide great service, the price is very reasonable, their horchata and fresh watermelon juice is very tasty, their spinach enchiladas(how about the chilaquiles? They Rock!) and everything else on their menu is very tasty. They undoubtedly deserve a 5 Star because their food is actually authentic and no one and I mean "no one can argue that".

If your are looking for extemelly authentic mexican food in Brea this is the only place to visit! From their service to their food you cannot lose here. I personally reccommend and love the Lobster Taco. $19 dinner for two with a beer! Dont take my word for it, come to Durango yourself and find your weekly mexican food spot.

Good asada nachos for $7ish. Big bonus that they sell beer too. Place is usually busy during lunch. Pricier than hole in the wall they bring your food out on actual plates and give silverware. They also have a happy hour. I'm a fan.

  • George K.

How this place has 4 stars beats me. This place is filthy. I cannot believe it's in Brea. If I was in Santa Ana or even Stanton then it'd be ok and even then it's not worth 4 stars. The food is mediocre. The wait time for a fast food joint is unacceptable. Using China is a plus but it's hard to overlook the filth. I don't mind going to a hole in the wall but this place is not that and their prices reflect that so I expect clean dining and kitchen. The wait staff don't wash hands between multiple tasks. First and last for me.

Went here with family and friends for dinner, on a recommendation from a friend. I walked in to find that you have to order food from the counter, then food will be brought to your table. I like to be seated and waited on, but this was okay. I noticed there were only two other people in the dining area, which would 'normally' mean, at 5:45 p.m., that the food couldn't be that good (or the restaurant would be crowded) BUT it was VERY good. There is a salsa bar, and beer packed in ice at the counter, for your drinking pleasure, and my wife and two others really enjoyed their margaritas (not from a can). I had the grilled fish tacos, others in my group had beef dishes and salads and other items, and everyone loved what they had, including me. The staff was very nice, as well as the owners, who made it a point to see that everything was okay. I will be going back soon to sample more from the extensive menu. The only thing that stopped me from giving a five star review was that, without a server to wait on us, the dirty dishes stayed on our table after we had finished our meals. As a closing comment, wanted to mention that while there was Mexican music playing in the background, it wasn't loud enough to inhibit casual conversation. At 'some', not all, Mexican food places, the music is loud and irritating, especially if there's a pounding bass drum. The staff must think, at these other restaurants, that ALL customers are 1) hard of hearing, 2) love banda music, and 3) love to raise their voices to be heard over the music. I walk in to places like that and then simply walk out, I can't have my meal destroyed by music that is too loud and annoying. Thank you Durango for really good food, good prices, and a courteous friendly staff. Oops....and music at a pleasant volume.

If I could choose zero stars I would. Salsa is seriously lacking flavor and the sorry excuse for carne asada was terrible. The meat was not carne asada meat. It was all tendons and fat, basically inedible. This was my second visit. It had been a while since my first visit, now I know why and I probably I won't be back.

This joint has some tasty items! and the prices are great. Tuesdays is their taco tues,, and they are always packed. They have over 20 items for $1! Asada, pollo, carnitas, etc, they also have a burger taco and papas taco. Lengua is a little bit more. They also have $1 small soups, such as lobster bisque, menudo, tortilla soup, albondigas, etc. Usually their small size soups are $2.99, which is already a great price, but even better for $1! I love that they have menudo on random days, not just weekends, and it's the perfect size where you can get your menudo fix, but still have room to eat other stuff. Last time their soup of the day was Caldo de Res. I love this soup. It was really good, the beef was fall apart soft, the veggies tender. It was so good we got another large order to go to bring home for later. Large soups are $5.99 and it's the same size you get everywhere else, but usually other places are $8+ for this size. I've tried pretty much every meat they have here. I wasn't a fan of the asada, pollo, or carnitas to be honest. I do like the lengua, not the best, but it's ok if I'm in the mood. Their best meat here is the machaca/shredded beef. I really like their shrimp and lobster tacos. They also have grilled calamari strips too. If I'm in a healthy mood, I'll order their green salad with grilled calamari or shrimp. They have more naughty salads too, with cheese, beans in a tostada bowl. the beans here are white beans btw, not pinto. Last time we tried their shredded beef nachos. These were huge, and for $6+ a great deal. A LOT of meat, very tender and flavorful. I like that their chips have seasonings to it, other than just salt. Topped with a big scoop of full fat sour cream, lots of pico de gallo, and shredded cheese, YUM. Another favorite of ours are the beef enchiladas. Same meat as in the nachos, but in an enchilada--duh. (Oh yeah, the nachos have the enchilada sauce on them as well as cheese. No cheese sauce here.) And the machaca and egg burrito, another fave (no beans) is gigantic and delish. The staff is super friendly, and I think it's the owner? the guy with the mustache, he seriously has the happiest looking smile ever. Everytime you order something, he says, Oh that sounds delicious! or Yes very good. LOL I knocked off a star bc I don't really care for their basic meats here, as I mentioned already. Also their salsa bar, while they have a lot of options, i can't say these are my fave salsas anywhere. The avocado salsa is kinda bland. Their roja is just fine, the verde is eh. The hottest one has good flavor though, is much too hot for me. Hmm, maybe I may mix some of the hot into another salsa next time.

Really good food. I would recommend the fish tacos or the burrito. I forgot to take a picture but if I could describe it to you it would be mouth watering. The carne Asada burrito had quality meat. I will definitely be swinging by more often.

My husband and I have been coming here every week for 2+ years for Taco Tuesday. I love the potato tacos! I am a vegetarian. I don't really like the veggie tacos, but I have many friends who do. My husband recommends any items that come with the blackened chicken. Their guacamole is always good.

Ok so I just ate here today... im just going to say it was by far the worst food I've ever eaten! I got the shredded beef crunchy tacos & cheese enchilada...I wish I would have never listened to the good reviews and drove to fullerton for Super Mex. Its a grungy place...I can look past that no prob for awesome food...but the food was far from good. I the tacos were cold and the shredded beef tasted old and just drenched in sauce. The enchilada wasnt hot just the plate was. Cheese not melted inside and the sauce tasted like runny chili powder. Not ur usual red sauce taste. the beans where blan and the rice....ugh how do u mess up rice!? Im bummed I wasted the time money and calories..now I know not to branch off from superex or miguels jr.

Amazing food. I was surprised to find such authenticity in healthy versions of mexican food. I am on a quest to try their entire menu because I am never disappointed. I absolutley love their breakfast especially the chilaquiles. Their salad bar is also impressive...fresh avocado salsa!!!

Durango is awesome for Mexican food, they are even more awesome for serving breakfast all day long. Yep, all freakin day. If you've read some of my other views, I'm a whore for machaca, and yep- I can get that all day too! What's better than machaca? How about some machaca with a side of chilaquiles? Good god, I've found Mexican food heaven! Nothing makes me smile more than wrapping a piece of hot flour tortilla around the hot mixture of beef, eggs and grilled peppers. Argghhh, I'm drooling now. So, aside from their delicious machaca, their chilaquiles are super delish as well. At first, I was torn on ordering chilaquiles or a breakfast burrito and I was soo excited to see that spicy batch of goodness waiting next to my food as a side. It was like getting my cake and eating it too. It can be a little spicy, but they serve a killer jamaica (ha-mike-a) that will quench even the spiciest of dishes. Not a breakfast fan? I got ya. They have some tasty tacos as well. Not small, dinky tacos, but big stuffed ones with a variety of meats for your picking. I haven't been to their Taco Tuesday, but I heard it can get a little crazy- check out their Happy Hours too, I saw a sign for $1.50 beers and $5 Margaritas- however, I didn't catch the date or time, but I am sure they would be more than happy to tell you if you gave them a ring. It's right around the corner from the Brea Mall and Birch Street- so I recommend this if you need a quick bite before shopping or catching a flick at the theater. Cheap eats, great food. I approve.

Yummmmmyyyyyyyyyy carne asada tacos are perfectly grilled, piled with steak not what may be beef but steak! and the best chicken quesdilla! Awesome fresh salsa bar!! Live guitar players at times, staff is always happy, wait may be a little longer but that's because your food is fresh and not sitting there waiting to be built like Lego's. The four stars is however for hubby who always gets his order messed up but my food is always what I wanted!

One of my favorite places to eat at! The food is great and the prices are good too! Awesome specials each day and love happy hour on Fridays! The Baja fish tacos is what I usually order, tried other fish tacos at other restaurants, but Durangos is my favorite!

Luigi the cashier/bartender was super friendly, knowledgable & witty. The prices are super low and service fast. Clean establishment, central location. Great salsa bar. The food was totally & utterly flavorless. Bland, boring & plain as heck. We tried the potato tacos($1), fried batter fish tacos($1), calamari nachos & chicken quesadilla. We may as well have eaten a pile of warmed, firm tofu. The food looked gorgeous but it had NO flavor. No seasoning. The calamari was imitation and had cold tofu taste. The chicken tasted like generic faux mcnugget grill mark....bleh. The fish taco tasted like cabbage. Huge chunk of fish in it, great plating but flavorless. It all tasted the same. Unfinishable food. Huge portions, cheap menu. The highlights were the 3.95 tasty bottom shelf Margarita on the rocks Luigi whipped up for me & the view of fast food row through the large windows.

If there is anyone out there who is compelled to give anything but 5 stars to this place, I would be surprised. The staff is so friendly and the food is of great quality. I always order off the deluxe menu-- the carne asada burrito or the balckened fish tacos. The beers are really cheap during happy hour ($2.50-3) and on Taco Tuesday there is usually, if not always, a mariachi band and they take requests too. Love, love this place!

I went here today for their Taco Tuesday for lunch. On Tuesdays, they have a separate menu where almost everything on that menu is only $1! It's so cheap! My co-workers and I wanted to eat Mexican food for lunch and luckily it was Tuesday. Make sure if you are not eating there that you call your order in ahead of time. They get pretty busy here during lunch time. I called my order ahead of time and still had to wait about 10 more minutes waiting for my food. Here is what we ordered: Lengua tacos - yummy! very fresh and good chunky pieces Chicken Taco - co-worker #1 ordered this and she like it. She said it was pretty good Carnitas Tacos - Co-worker # 2 ordered this but didn't like it Taco De Papa - Co-worker #3 ordered this and loved it Adobada Tacos - Co-worker #4 - was okay Lobster Bisque - 3 people ordered this, I didn't really like it. I remember it was a lot better but somehow today it wasn't that good. The croutons that came with them were yummy. They also have a salsa bar to get all the salsa you need without any limitations. The customer service here is also very friendly and quick.

This place has all you'll want for a taste of Mexico wihout having to update your passport ; ) Soccer on the TV, upbeat & fitting music, but not the anoying obnoxious kind ; o, and at a volume where you can carry on a conversation. Great decor for the semi intimate spot, all they need is for an earthquake to make this beach front property & they'd have it all! The attentive staff demonstrates love for good food done right; I hear the taco Tuesdays are a good time to come, we'll have to put that on our calendar! I've enjoyed the flavor, and presentation of everything I've tried, and plan on exploring the whole menu! This is my new favorite spot for Mexican food in Orange county, it's no wonder folks seem to become regulars pretty easily. I don't normally do this, but to quote the governator, "Come with me if you want to..." oh, no no.. wrong quote... "I'll be back." ja ja ja (spanish for ha ha ha)

This place is pretty cool. Service was good, food good, and affordable. I had the quesa-dillo. It was pretty big, coooked perfectly and a '3 day build up' ;) mother load of cheese. LOVE cheese -so extra star for the cheese. Chicken was fresh/juicy. Chips were crispy and salty ;). The avocado was stupendous. I can't stand how a lot of joints give you guac - but it's jam-packed ;) with onion, cilantro, garlic and a whole bunch of other stuff that kills the flavor of avocado. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE onion/garlic/cilantro....but sometimes...just sometimes...I want mostly avocado on my quesa-dillo. This place does it right. When they say side of avocado - they mean it. Literally 3 or 4 slices which is half a large fresh off the nut ;) avocado. Also - they have 2 or 3 tables outside - which is nice. Anyhow - I like this place. I don't venture to Brea often, but now when I do, the wife and I plan to return to "Durange Mexican Grill". (Can't help but think of Johnny Depp in Durango when I think of this place).

We live within walking distance of Durango and it is truly a blessing to the Brea area. The food - whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner - is fantastic and has that quality to it that only comes from fresh ingredients. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The taco tuesday deals are unbelievable, but you have to visit during normal hours to truly appreciate this place. My favorite dishes are the chorizo and eggs breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros, and the asada enchalada plate.

This is the best Mexican food in Brea. They have somewhat of a unique style but it tex mex or anything like that. Great service. The burritos are excellent, but the quesadillas are even better. The best thing about them is there their Taco Tuesday. Great deal, and you know it's good when there is a line out the door. Don't worry though because the line moves fast. Please go here, it's great.

I've had this place 3x and still forgot to write a review?! This place is soooo good! I don't know how they make their white beans & rice but its delicious!! And just last Tuesday me & alexis b. discovered their Taco Tuesday! Over 20 items are $1.00!! This place gets packed!! I'm really picky about my enchiladas but Durango makes them just right! Not dry, but not overly drenched in fake sauce. Everything is fresh & not from a can! A family of 3 can eat for under 20.00! Good quality food and nice employees! You can't go wrong!! ^_^

I was starving on X-mas eve and just finished my less than 10 minute shopping at Brea mall and I was starvin and I've always passed this spot. I came in wanting a taco salad and they had it, I also wanted a shrimp taco. Pretty good size menu with options galore .So I placed my order and waited and took it to go. I got home and dove right in. Man this salad is crackolicious! So its not in a taco shell , its a bed of tortilla chips, topped with white beans ( yes thats right white beans) I never really ate them and man they are tasty!!!! Also had carne asada, cotijia cheese and mozzarella , lettuce, tomato and sour cream and salsa on the side. I couldn't stop eating this salad and had to stop myself!!! The shrimp taco was great as well. No skimping on the shrimp. My mom even tried some of my salad when it wasn't fresh off the grill and she said it was still bomb. Now I have to take my mom and myself back there!!!!

Pretty good for a small mexican place. Came here for lunch and the service was great. You order and they will bring you your food, which is nice. Place looked clean to me, someone said there were gnats flying around, but not when I was here. I tried the vegetarian quesadilla on wheat. I like that they offer a "light" menu option, especially cause calories on mexican food are up there!. The cheese and veggies in it were good. My friend had the chicken one and liked it. A couple of my friends also had the $1 fish tacos and said they pretty much taste like the ones from California Fish Grill but make you feel better cause you are only spending a buck on them (= We wanted margaritas...at 11AM (no I'm not a drunk, we just finished 2 weeks full of finals) but all they had were lime margaritas, ehhh. Although, they were only about $3 for a good sized cup and oh boy, you can definitely taste the alcohol in there! No skimping on the good stuff here. At happy hour they are only $1! The chips were only okay here, not bad, but not amazing. They do have this good avocado salsa though, so make sure you try that from the salsa bar!

if you're here for Taco Tuesday, carnitas rocks it every time. Not impressed much with other tacos... potato taco is basically mashed potatoes in a corn tortilla. I love the ALBONDIGAS, for a buck you can't go wrong with 3 meatballs with veggies (add a squeeze of fresh lime), we get two so I can have lunch the next day. my daughter loves the chicken flautas with a side of rice. And a sope fan says they're pretty tastey here... they leave their pinto beans whole (not sure why this is better, but it is). we like the carne asada. Last, the guac is excellent.... 99 cents per scoop! If you live near downtown Brea, don't miss this lil joint on imperial hwy. great food, long lines but worth it (they also have happy hour specials which keep them super busy on Tuesdays).

I came here for the first time last week with my sister and I will definitely be coming back. Being a vegerterian I was super excited to see they have an entire vegeterian menu. I order three potato tacos and they were really good. They also have a salsa bar with 4 or 5 different kinds of salsa to try. Delicious!

This place has kicked up the Baja Fresh, Wahoo, Rubio's idea to another level with better variety, true authenticity and superior flavor. Everything is fresh and you can taste it. The blackened shrimp tacos were excellent and the asada nachos were really good. The salsa bar has 5 different salsas, all fresh and all top notch. They also have happy hour specials, $1 tacos and soups on certain days and they serve beer and margaritas. Another thing I like about this place is that they serve breakfast all day! Service was prompt and they even have a little outside patio. I can't wait to comeback and try some of the other enticing stuff on the menu. Considering the affordability, this place is an easy 5 star joint.

Calamari burrito was great. Wife got quesadilla; it looked great. Salsas were ok. Habanero had flavor but no heat. Green had a better balance of both. Presentation was nice.

Having specials everyday means that this place is a local favorite. I was passing the area and choose this independent spot rather than Souplantation. And on the surface the $1 dishes are great value, but getting your beans and rice served in white polystyrene really took my appetite away. I tried the carnitas taco, potato taco, chicken taco. All pretty bland...granted the potato should be that way, but not the carnitas or chicken. Tastes better at Chipotle! Samantha's beef taco had an odor...like offal. She returned it to the server who showed the cook. He put his fingers in the taco and then gave it back to her saying there was nothing wrong. If you won't swap a $1 taco that's your choice, but don't put your bare fingers in the food and expect anyone to take it back! *Come here for service like that.* Best $1 thing was the soup... May be it was an off day, but I think the quality of the meat may not be what you'd hope for.

This place compares to San Pedro Taco in Yorba Linda. The tacos were big and charged accordingly:$2.19. I had carne asada and adobado which were delicious. Their chickene quesadilla was well made with tasty cheese and avocado with plenty of meat. I will definitely go back since San Pedro closes early.

My rating system: 5 Stars = This is a place that I crave. It calls to me in my sleep. 4 Stars = Solid to great food, drink or service. Always worth going. 3 Stars = Worth a shot just not my thing. Would be willing to retry. 2 Stars = Never going to write a 2 Star review. 1 Star = You sucked so bad people need to know. This should be rare. We are here every Tuesday. Get any of the following soups: tlalpeno, posole, or tortilla if you're a vegetarian. Tacos: veggie, chicken or potato are the best. Good salsa and guacamole and freshly squeezed juices for margaritas... no crappy premix. This is heallthy style mexican food so if you're expecting greasy go elsewhere.

I normally drive out towards la habra for Mexican food but tonight, I did not feel like driving far out and now I wish I did. The meat was too chewy and lacking in flavor. I then put some habanero sauce I got from their bar and well, it was barely spicy. The other sauces were so and so too. To describe what I thought of the food, it was edible. I should have known better by now that I would not get the type of Mexican food I am used to in areas like Brea, if you know what I mean.

    (2)
  • Katie Z.

The food is excellent. They also cook the food using a "healthier appeal", which is a breath of fresh air compared to most Mexican food places around. My fiancee and I enjoy their huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and veggie burrito. I am sure most things on the menu are awesome as well.

i even gave this place a second chance bc i have friends that frequent taco tuesday and the like. SOO disgusting. i like mexican food and even live in little mexico basically. im the only white guy ( obv i dont live in brea. haha) so i can appreciate and enjoy mexican food. the first time i got an al pastor burrito. simple. the meat was so undercooked it was unedible. same the second time i went to get some steak tacos . nothing special. you're better off eating out of a roach coach. im being serious. very underwhelming. so bad i signed up for yelp just to post this... buyer be ware

Durango is a region of Mexico that is known for it's Spanish heritage and influence, with rich chicken dishes, grilled meats, fine chorizo and the cheeses made by its Mennonite communities. Durango Mexican Grill brings those authentic flavors, presenting food in very colorful, fresh tasting ways. I've eaten here over 10 times, having breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every time, I was impressed with the quality, freshness, and outstanding flavor. Everyone is friendly, including the cooks in the open kitchen. When I'm anywhere near Brea, I swing by for a great meal. By the way, they also do happy hour - Ice cold beers are cheap and the homemade salsas are amazing.

first of all: FINALLY I GAVE A 5! IT'S BEEN SO LONG :] back to the review: O-M-F-G... OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH EMMMMMMMM EFFFFFFFFFFF GEEEEEEEEE WHY!? WHY!? HAVE I NEVER BEEN HERE!!??!? ASLDFJALEIJR living in fullerton/la habra for my whole life i've driven by this gem at least 10 times a week and i never thought twice of stepping in there. but today...i finally stepped foot into taco heaven :] my co-worker and i wanted something quick and cheap so after yelping some places in brea (and bookmarking this joint for years) i finally decided that we should eat at durango mexican grill for lunch (esp because of taco tuesdays) and i now found my new tuesday lunch spot (well until california fish grill and BWW opens lol). the taco tuesday menu is insane: 11 tacos (carne asada: $1.50 but it was my fav), 8 different soups, and 6 different sides for all $1!!! i got the carne asada taco, chile verde taco, and chicken taco: the carne asada & chile verde came in a corn tortilla w/ onion (i hate cilantro, but comes w/ too) and the chicken was on a flour tortilla w/ lettuce, pico, sour cream and cheese. i also got the lobster bisque soup (which i put the habenero hot sauce in it...made it so much better), but there was no lobster lol but still good. and i also got a side of rice. the tacos were SO GOOD however, next time i will probably only get the carne asada taco because it was so tender and juicy. the soup was good, like i said before no lobster...but called a lobster bisque? hmmm no, but next time i will try the others. the rice made my meal (yea whatever i'm korean :P i need my rice! lol). oh yea and it was under $6! overall the food, service, and quality is great. i will definitely come back...this place will definitely be on my mind every tuesday :] everything else on the menu looked great as well, but i love tacos so i'll probably just come here for taco tuesdays! FYI (the specials): monday: 3-9 pm 1/2 price burrito night (shredded chicken, chredded beef, and carnitas only) tuesday: taco tuesday!!! (pic of taco tuesday menu on business photos) thursdays: $1 fish tacos all day fridays: 5-10 pm $1.50 domestic beers & $1 margaritas! P.S. also next to yogurtland which is a double plus! woo hoo!!!

Stopped in for a breakfast burrito. I had a machaca burrito. I finished mine in about three minutes. It was soo delicious. One of the best breakfast burritos ive ever had. I had some of the chorizo burrito also and it was just as amazing. The owner was very pleasant. He was happy that I ordered machaca as he knew I would really like it. We'll definitely be back to this place.

Favorite taco Tuesday place In town, can't beat the prices and selection. They also have happy hour too! The papas taco is really good, as well as the carnitas, lots of flavor and a perfect crispy shell. The abondigas soup is really good too. Can get a bit crowded during taco Tuesday so get there early for a table! But there's also outdoor seating by yogurt land. I have only eaten a combination plate there once and it was okay, cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Not a fan of the beans they use but the rest of the meal was good.. I mean how can you mess up on a cheese enchilada right? Friendly staff and good atmosphere over all.

Durango has an expansive menu . I mean seriously, who knew burritos and tacos could have so many combinations. Also, they lots of other Mexican dishes as well and Taco Tuesday specials, which elevated it to more than a fast food place. He ordered the ASADA BURRITO, which he enjoyed. My FRIED FISH BURRITO was filled with slaw but ultimately, the batter on my fish and the slightly fishy fish turned me off.

THE BEST mexican food in Brea, hands down. We have never been disappointed and honestly would eat here every-other-day if we could afford the calories. Super inexpensive for yummy, "home-cooked feel" mexican food (not to mention the ~$3 margaritas). My go-to dish is the shredded beef nachos, amazing, topped off with some habañero salsa and an horchata, match made in heaven. Get over the "hole in the wall" vibe and you'll be amazed.

  • Sunni H.

I've tried several things here, and I've gone multiple times in an attempt to appease others or save a buck. I don't care how cheap it is, everything I've had sucks. Their fish was so bad that I literally couldn't eat it (and it was fried!) I think it had gone bad. I have gotten several different tacos and everything is bland and boring. I know it is only in business because it is so cheap and people throw enough hot sauce on it to be edible. I don't do hot sauce, so I have to taste it - and I just won't do it again.

  • Dirk W.

They do a good job here! It's tough in a forest of Mexican restaurants here in the OC to differentiate yourself from the mob. They've managed to do this by having good service and a unique take on many of the Mexican staples. I also appreciate the fact that they have music some evenings (Fridays) and serve beer and Margaritas!

The chicken nachos = work of art. The food is tasty, employees are friendly, and on a Wednesday, I was given a margarita for spending $6.99 or more. Delicious!

Taquitos and flautas were terrible!! We ordered during $1 Taco Tuesday. However, the two looked exactly the same. It came with 1 and 1/2 pieces of each. Rip off!! The carne asada taco was ok but a bit lacking on the flavor. The green avocado sauce was good. I wouldn't go back, it's seems cheap but for what you get, there's no value.

    (2)
  • Cheryl D.

Went for Taco Tuesday and it was pretty packed. They had a good variety of deals. We had a bunch of $1 tacos, the $1 lobster soup and $3 margaritas. All were good, but we had to try the lobster tacos, which were regular price ($4) and so worth it!

  • Kelly G.

For starters, it reminded me of the Mexican place by my parents house that I miss so much, so that started the experience off right. Next, the cashier was super helpful and didn't seem annoyed at all to answer our questions, always a plus. Now, the food. Monday's they have 1/2 price burritos, but only the basics so my boy and I opted for the full price ones. My boyfriend liked his adobada. My California was tasty and interesting with it's fun addition of french fries. We also got the massive stuffed jalapenos, yum. I will be going back for sure.

This is my fave "cheap" Mexican place. They serve BREAKFAST all day long. The Durango omelette comes with a side of fruit that is awesome! It's strawberries, pineapple, mango, and bananas and sometimes blueberries - not just canteloupe and honeydew! Taco Tuesdays is also great; love the chile verde tacos and the lengua. The roasted tomato soup is also amazing. And the guys here are all sooo nice! And they take AmEx. What is not to love?

  • Cameron S.

Been here a couple of times now for taco Tuesday. $1 tacos and $2 beers during happy hour. They also have a few other things on the "Taco Tuesday" menu. The tacos are not the best that I have had but are pretty decent. The salsa bar to me is mediocre though. In my opinion they need some better tasting salsa. Still a good place to go for lunch.

I read some great reviews about this place and thought I would check it out. I ordered and sat and waited and waited and waited. I finally went up to the counter to check on my order and to my surprise and NO APOLOGY they forgot to make my order. Wow!! Doesn't seem like I will be back and I haven't even tried the food yet. I'm still waiting for my order!

  • L. P. M.

My order was a couple Jalapeno poppers and grilled veggie burrito. Each popper consisted of a large, whole Jalapeno, sliced open and stuffed full with cheese, dipped in cornmeal batter and deep fried. They were plated with lettuce and Mexican sour cream drizzled over the top. Delicious and crunchy, cooked perfectly with oozing cheese all wrapped in a corndog-style shell. Just a bit of heat. The burrito was good with grilled squash, carrots, black beans and rice; however, it had too many carrots for my liking. The salsa bar offered enough choices from mild to atomic Habanero. I would offer a suggestion that they condense their menu onto a single board and do away with all of the many "daily special" menus. The veggie burrito was not listed on the main board but on a "vegetarian" menu off to one side. It can be a daunting challenge trying to read all of the menus while standing in line with hungry patrons standing behind you if you aren't sure what you want -- or what day it is...

Love this place! If your craving breakfast you have to try the Durango Omelet it's the best and their breakfast is served all day. Burritos, tacos are very good as well. Staff is very friendly too. Definitely one of my top faves.

Taco Tuesdays rock here, they have a ton of items on their $1 list! Carne asada tacos, albondigas soup, grilled chicken torta are all delish. Also have a great selection of fresh made salsas. Staff is very friendly and nice too. This is THE spot we're craving Mexican.

Was looking for some good mexican food in the area and yelp led me here. I ordered a calamari burrito. The burrito was good, probably a 3.5 stars. I would probably order it again but im not sure if id come back. There was a lot of gnats flying around the drink area which is right next to the bathrooms. They have the salsa bar right next to the drinks also and who knows if they are landing in the salsas :-(

i really like this place. i don't make it over here often enough. I think that make really delicious Mexican food at a more than reasonable price. they even have authentic delicious sopes! yummy! they even have a vegetarian menu that my friend ordered from. i have the taco salad! yummy!

Came here on a whim a few weeks back on a tuesday for Taco Tuesday night and it was packed, line out the door. But it went fast. Lots to order for $1.00, 8 or so soups, different kinds of tacos, etc. $3.00 margaritas! And friday they have some happy our deal till 10pm that looks awesome. Food was good, nothing out of this world, but very good for the tiny price tag! My husband is almost 7' tall and can EAT like he's still a growing boy, so this place fits right in for him. The table situation is not so good , they've got a bunch of tables crammed in, and seats outside, but if it's cold or too hot, you're stuck with a super packed cafeteria style restaurant. However if you want to go super casual and get some el cheapo tacos and soups and margie's, this is the place. On Tuesday or Friday that is.

No complaints, everything was flavorful and delicious. I wish it was closer to me, I would eat here more often. I went there for dinner and got there blackened chicken burrito. The burrito comes with chipotle lime mayo, that suace is a must try. They have a good selection of salsa, even avocado mild salsa. They use conola oil, and no lard :) Try it, you wont regret it!!!
