Diabetics at Village Inn

Village Inn is a tough place for diabetics, and you must be extra cautious while ordering food at the Village Inn, especially if you're a diabetic. The food items low in sodium are high in sugar or cholesterol at Village Inn which makes it difficult for diabetics to choose the right food at the diner.

Foods to Avoid at Village Inn for Diabetics

Village Inn offers very few items edible for diabetics without any threat. You can avoid sandwiches and burgers at Village Inn and try the light breakfast items on the menu. You must also skip the shakes as well as other juices from the beverage menu. Almost all the dinner items on the menu are high in sodium except Grilled Tilapia and 6 oz. Top Sirloin & Toast. Avoid Soup bowls and opt for cups instead at Village Inn.

This is our regular Friday night meal. A extra large pepperoni and medium cheese will cost you $27.54. It's not the cheapest but worth every penny. The dough and sauce are made here. Plenty of cheese and sauce on the pizza. The crust is cooked perfectly, not too thin or too thick. Just right with a little crop to the bottom. You can get cheese and peppers on the side. The staff is amazing! The line may be a few people long but if you call in your order they will have it ready for you quickly. Salads are also delicious and fresh. At lunch they have done great sand which specials. They make such great sandwiches and top them with a house dressing. Bacon pizza it great here, just remember to order breakfast bacon or the give you ham. Enjoy this hometown treat!

Great Pizza! Great atmosphere! The way a pizza place should be. There is a frozen yogurt right next door!

I go to Village pizza as much as I can. They have the best lunch specials. I usually get a meatball sandwich. The bread, meatballs and sauce is like nothing I've had. Pizza, don't even get me started. The dough is made from scratch. Normally when I eat pizza elsewhere I don't eat the crust. However, at Village you can taste the freshness. Salad is fresh and the ranch dressing is addicting. The service is the best. The staff is very friendly and they always have a smile. I always recommend Village pizza to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

Pizza is very good, so was the pastrami sandwich. Only drawback, they don't serve beer. I was looking forward to an ice cold brew with my pizza.......

I'm glad there is a great pizza place in Bonsall because I hate driving to Oceanside for good food. The pizza is good, location is great because it's right next door to Bailey's Frozen Yogurt and the prices are wallet friendly. They have some tv's to watch the Chargers, it's roomy with lots of tables and they have a nice size menu. When I get a pizza I have to have tomato and basil, when I get the spaghetti dinner I get the very tasty huge meatballs.

Tried this place last week with my roommate, we got an xl pepperoni, wings, cheesy bread, Mozzerella sticks and 2 drinks all for about 30 bucks. The people were friendly, and the food was really good. We will be going back with friends!

Ordered pizza 35 minutes ago. Was told ready in 20. Arrived and pizza was not even in oven. Their excuse.. "Its Friday night" so another 15 min to wait!?! For our compensation $1 off. Ha! See ya...You lost a first time potential customer over a few bucks.

Had lunch at Village Pizza today. A large meatball and onion pizza was awesome. Great sauce, good crust, and plenty of toppings just the way we like it. Only thing that would be better is if you could refill your drinks for free.

This place is tough... I like the pizza, and I like the sandwiches everything else could use improvement (salads, service etc) Prices are fair I choose this pizza over Pizza Hut and Dominoes anyday.

Pizza is average at best. Service is horrible. First time I went here I swore I'd never go back because the service was so bad. Took over an hour to get our take out pizza and as we sat and waited for it, our pizza sat getting cold. They need a new manager at this place. The second time I went here was because my daughters friends parents picked it. Same horrible service, nothing to rave about pizza.

Its been a couple years since I've been in but I stopped for a quick lunch with a friend. We ordered a monster sandwich and cheese sticks. The sandwich wasnt as good as it used to be. The cheese sticks came with ranch...really weird. I would have preferred marinara but i didn't like the cheese sticks anyways. They were obviously not made in house and soooo incredibly SALTY. Refills for a soda are 50 cents. The staff wasn't particularly friendly either. I'll try again but I will only get pizza next time.

Great Pizza... but today for the first time we tried one of the Sub Sandwiches... and it was fantastic. Choice of any 8" Sandwich and a salad... $5.00... what a deal... and tasty .... tasty... tasty. I had the Monster... Mayo, Avo, Ham, Turkey, Salami, Tomato, Lettuce and cheese with Italian dressing... and the bread was fantastic. Just sorry I've live here 17 years before trying one of their sandwiches.

I Work in Oceanside and make the 20min drive after work to pick up a pizza on my way home, such great Pizza!!! Steve always takes care of me, he also makes the best anti pasta salad... At lunch they have great sandwiches, highly recommend stopping by and trying it if you are in the area

As a Fallbrook/bonsall resident we love this place been coming for years amazing pizza, but awful customer service they forgot our pizza after an hour of waiting. We still needed to wait for the pizza after asking. Didn't even try to save their customer service not going back. They need better management and control. Customers always come first if you keep brushing them off after they wait for that long . They will not come back and go else where in Fallbrook.

One of the best pizza places, hands down. I love the BBQ pizza and turkey, avo, Swiss sandwich. The people who work there are always so sweet and welcoming. Love this place!

I would go there again since it passed my hubby's (is it NY enough) taste test. lol not to mention my girls devoured their spaghetti and meatball meal. I thought it was good as long as the family enjoyed it I'm ok with it! ..and..Well because I always do the salad dressing taste test too and it was really good as long as the food is fresh and place is clean. =)

Born and raised in New Jersey, I have devoured my share of pizza from coast to coast. I'm pretty judgmental when it comes to the pie... Village Pizza has been owned by the same friendly and hard working couple for at least 20 years, I think. The pizza is probably the best around but like I said before, I'm kinda spoiled. Prices are ok for a tomato pie of any size. I always ask them for a thin crust and well done. Tastes pretty good that way. I'm a simple guy so pepperoni or just plain old cheese does it for me. Service can be slow at times but if you get the right one to help you that can actually make change without a calculator, you order and are back out the door in about 15 - 20 minutes. I rarely eat there so I can't speak about that. Eat pizza and eat it often...

We dropped in for a salad and pizza. The "house" salad was not great - it was mostly iceberg and cheese and I would not recommend it, but then again, I rarely order salad when I'm at a "pizza joint". The pizza ordered was a supreme of sorts, again, not my type, but it was good. It was medium thickness verging on too thick for my taste, but the crust was excellent. I figured with a 4+ stars Yelp rating and a huge oven in the back that the pizza would be good. I'll definitely be back for a straight pepperoni pizza.

  • Annette V.

Garlic chicken pizza was amazing!!! Biggest downside no beer! Wtf... Pizza without beer?! We had to have a pitcher of ice tea instead. When we walked in 1/2 the tables were dirty which was frustrating but they seemed a bit understaffed so I'll give them a pass. Plus they had the basketball and baseball games on tv which was nice. Overall pizza trumps everything! Amazeballs!

Great pizza! The staff is great too. You can tell family run and all hard working. Prices are very reasonable. Always a must stop for us on our way back from the beach to our home in temecula area.

Best pizza I've had in the 6 years I've been here in California. The crust, the sauce, the cheese... It's just a fantastic pizza! Every now and then I'll change it up and get the pastrami sandwich, or meatball sandwich. Both excellent choices :)

  • Samuel R.

Four stars. Although it's probably some of the best pizza you can get around town. The wings are great. Mozzarella sticks are seasoned and fried to perfection. Sauces are not bad at all. Sandwiches are better Han most places. Salads are not creative but it's a salad. Most people don't go to a pizza place for salad so can't complain there. Customer service isn't always the greatest. That's where I see the lack in one more star. The employees can be nice and seem to get the order right 90% of the time. Management needs better customer service. Especially if they are going to be up front with customers. I cannot stand someone giving me a dirty look because I want to take my time and order, not just order on the spot. Other than that, this is my go to pizza place. Keep up the good work, village pizza. They will always have my support.

As a Fallbrook/Bonsall local, I have been coming to Village Pizza for years and years now. Have always been a fan of their sandwiches and in recent years, have come to enjoy their pizza as well, although it's not my favorite. However, it seems like more times than not, when we order avocado on our sandwiches, we get home and realize they forgot to add avocado. Thus, we eventually just stopped ordering avocado and bought our own avocado from the store and put it on ourselves. Tonight we ordered three sandwiches from Village Pizza, and I finally hit the roof when they got our order wrong again. My father called in to place an order for "three SANDWICHES" and even told the guy which two types of cheese he wanted on the cheese SANDWICH. Once he gets home, we discover they gave us cheese bread. How do you mistake cheese bread for cheese sandwich when "sandwich" and "bread" do not sound the same. My father calls to speak to the manager and the manager tells us they did not charge us for the cheese sandwich (but they did charge us for the cheese bread). My father had to drive back down there to pick up the correct cheese sandwich (which they did not charge us for) and they apologized. Will keep coming back to Village Pizza, but please please please get it together guys! As others have mentioned in their reviews, service here is really not the best. May need to start checking to make sure our order is correct before we even leave the parking lot from now on!

  • Laurie K.

Pizza is good, but service is always craptastic. Olives which I'm allergic to were added to my cheese only pizza. Went back to order my sodas which I cost my 5x the amount because of their credit card minimum so I paid for 2 pitchers just to have 2 kids drinks. Overall bad experience for overpriced pizza. Why oh why doesn't Pizza Hut, Papa John's or Dominoes deliver to Bonsall/ Rancho Vejo area so my family can avoid this place altogether?!

  • Tina C.

After a day of unpacking and cleaning madness, only a pizza could hit the spot. We headed over to Village pizza, and ordered the meatballs and the house special pizza with a thin crust. Everything was delicious! The meatballs were a hefty size, and the marinara sauce was great - we saved the leftover sauce for a little old fashioned crust dipping - yum. The pizza was really good - the crust (which the make in house) was nice and thin and the toppings were fresh and flavourful. The only downside was the lack of ambiance/music - eerily quiet. This will be the spot for the next pizza night.

  • Sara S.

So good! I have had lunch here several times and love it. Good lunch specials to choose from. Friendly & prompt service. My 10 year old nephew requests to come here for his birthday or good grade reward. Laid back & casual yet very clean.

  • Christina W.

Just moved to the area and glad we are so glad we did. But we thought we would be in a food desert because of the limited numbers of restaurants in Bonsall, but we were wrong. Village Pizza rocks! Their gluten free pizza is amazing! Their regular thin crust pizza is too! Seriously. The GF crust could almost pass for regular. We are big fans of the Village Garlic Chicken pizza, their wings and the potato wedges. We get take out because hubby likes to have a been with pizza and I like my glass of wine. If this place got a beer and wine license, that would put it over the top.

  • Gabe P.

All I had was their salad for 7.99. It had obviously come from cheap iceberg bag mix. Ranch dressing was from smart and final. The final straw....explosive diarrhea.

Can't beat Village's lunch specials! Our family loves everything on the menu from gluten-free pizza to sandwiches. Just delicious. The location is in a nice area and is very clean inside and out.

My kids and I LOVE this place. Most frequently we get a pizza and tossed salad. In other times I have also ordered their cheese bread, meat balls, wings, Salami sandwich and all of which were excellent. Service is great, food is fresh, we go once a week. Best pizza!

  • R C.

seeing it's the only show in town for casual pizza it's ok. Frequently packed because pretty much everyone local goes there. And on busy nights the wait can be long for your pizza to be ready. The sandwiches are sandwiches not to be confused with anything sub like even if they put it on a sub roll. They try. The staff is friendly, and the place is generally pretty clean. Bathrooms are outside in the courtyard. Parking is plentiful but you might have to walk a little

  • Brandon B.

I love this pizza, I don't drink so no complaining about beer here. Since I don't drink however, I can be very in tune with flavor in food, and quite frankly, this pizza tastes good! I like the style of pizza they serve with moderately thin crust and lots of finely chopped meats that work together to create great taste. Any pizza with Salami and Meatballs here is fantastic! Sauce and crust are great too. Can't complain about anything here. I love me some Village Pizza!

    (5)
  • Chris R.

I only go in for their Torpedo Sandwich. If you are around for lunch on a weekday, tryout their lunch sandwich and salad special, it's the best out there for the price... I really like their pizza as well, but my only complaint is that they don't sell beer. Those two go hand in hand, but it is an establishments choice not to sell it. Village is worth visiting, I've never heard anyone complain about this place (other then on this Yelp thing)

We have pizza night on Friday and always order from Village Pizza. We order an XL Cheese, Village Salad, and my hubby occasionally gets a meatball sub. Their pizza crust/sauce ratio is perfect. Not too much just the way we like it! Their small salad is enough for 2 and then some. The staff is very friendly and the remodel of the restaurant looks beautiful. Would recommend Village Pizza to anyone looking for quality pizza at an affordable price!

Although the wait was a bit (thank goodness we ordered garlic & cheese bread, it settled our hungrly, growling stomachs), it was well worth it. You walk to the counter to place your order and then have a seat either indoors or outdoors. We had pizza with four toppings, pepperoni, red onion, mushroom and garlic. It was delicious. Although the garlic bread had very little garlic flavor it was toasted perfectly. And the cheese bread was yummy. The guys behind the counter did a good job keeping the line moving steadily. I can't wait to try more items on the menu along with the yummy pizza!

Great pizza- best in the Fallbrook/Bonsall area by far. Staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable. Dining area is very clean and nice as well. They expanded and did a remodel about a year ago. If you're going on a Friday/ Saturday... Be prepared for a wait as this place gets packed! I'm giving them 4 stars only because they don't serve beer. If you live in the area I highly recommend village pizza.

    (4)
  • Noomie W.

Pizza is okay, I've tasted better pizza. Make sure when you order a large, that you ask for well done. It will come out soggy and not crispy otherwise. I had to take it home and place in the oven for 15 min to let in cook longer. They charge extra for everything. That including ranch & peppers.

    (3)
  • T M.

3.5 stars rounding up. Decent pizza and reasonable prices make this a family favorite. We've been here several times now and the food is standard pizza joint fare that is served up quite fast considering how busy they usually are. Why just 3.5 stars? Because the menu is limited and the salads/garlic bread are just so-so, so if you want something a little healthy to go with your carbs, this isn't the place for you. If the rest of the menu was as good as the pizza, they'd get 4 stars from me.

    (4)
  • Ginny E.

The pizza was okay, but the customer service definitely leaves something to be desired. We ordered two pizzas by phone ahead of time, then went in to eat with our group. We noticed right away that one of the pizzas was wrong, but when we let them know, they said we ordered it wrong (there's no way...there were seven of us, and I know we would have jumped all over the one ordering if we heard him mess it up). They said the only way we could get what we originally ordered was to buy another pizza. So, we the customers were wrong or lying. That's bad business.

  • Kent S.

Fantastic! With 5 kids, we eat a lot of pizza. But nothing compares to Village Pizza. Best dough/crust, best sauce, great cheese, excellent choice of toppings. They know how to make pizza. And although they are always busy in the evenings, the owners are great and staff are friendly. We get pizza there pretty much every Friday night and have done so for many, many years now. Occasionally we make the mistake of buying a pizza elsewhere because it was convenient or we had a coupon or we're out of the area. But we always wish that we had Village Pizza instead! Their sandwiches are delicious too, by the way. And the kids love their spaghetti and meatballs too. Plus, if you eat there and order a salad, you get it in a big salad bowl to serve everyone, just as if we were sitting around the table at home.

When I used to work in North County, I'd make a stop here to pick up a sandwich before going home. The sandwich tasted great. It had the right amount of lettuce, oil/vinegar and meat/cheese. Perfect. Pizza is good, too. I've yet to find the perfect pizza place for me in San Diego (and please don't tell me Woodstock or Pizza Port...I really don't like either of those). Overall, a nice place to eat with the family. I'm not into family-style restaurants, so I always take my food to go, though (haha).

Great sandwiches!!! And my kids love the pizza. Wish the games were a little bit more current and it is a bummer that they don't serve alcohol but otherwise a fun little family place with good food and great prices.

Great place to hang or pick up a pie to go. The Hawaiian is great and so are the others. We almost always get BBQ chicken and love it! The new facelift is pretty nice and very clean inside and out. The best pies in the area hands down!

  • Ruthy T.

Pizza is good, but not great. Salads aren't worth buying in my opinion. They are always brownish and they use what looks like 95% whiteish iceberg and 5% green lettuce. Haven't had the sandwiches. No refills on soda, only pitchers. Place looks good though. It's not my first choice but I'll go back and have pizza.

We have eaten here quite a few times when we driving through and they have solid/consistent pizza, and the crust is excellent.

  • Tom V.

My five (5) star is strictly toward their sandwiches. I use to eat here quite regularly when my job provided me a closer nexus to this place. I just remembered to add a review right now, because I just reviewed the Ultrastar Theater next door (and we ate here again before the movie). Their lunch specials were quite the deal, back in the day, which apparently they still do based upon Jennifer H's recent review! Now I / we may pop in here a couple times a year. I love their avocado, beef and swiss cheese sandwich. A toasted sandwich with just the right amount of oil/vinegar, so as not to be overpowering or soggy, and they don't skimp on the amount of meat in this sandwich or others. I also like their pastrami sandwich and their meatball, sausage and cheese combo! All of them are very fresh and tasty. The salads are tasty, fresh and crispy, too! I give them a four (4) star on their pizza. Been awhile since I actually have had their pizza, but it was always very good and way above any chain pizza joint for sure! The staff has always been very friendly and attentive, even when they get bombarded with customers. No table service, but they do bring you your food after you order at the counter. I have no clue as to why Ann C. even bothers to post reviews. At this stage in the game she has three (3) reviews and every one of them is a 1-star complaint. Her credibility goes straight down the toilet as far as I am concerned . These are the types of reviews that Yelp's computerized robot needs to filter, not some of the ones that I have seen - based upon that discerning mystical pattern it somehow, in some fashion, possesses. It is obvious that she (Ann C.) is either a very difficult woman to please (most likely), has an agenda (probable), or is just a complainer in general (hmmm?). Don't take it personal Ann, but there has to be a place or two that you can give more than a 1-star to isn't there?

Our go-to pizza restaurant! Cannot stand Domino's or Little Caesars. If I'm gonna have the calories, I'm gonna make it worth it!!! Love their $5 lunch specials on weekdays. A huge sandwich with salad for $5! Thye also have pasta, but ive never tried it. I can feed BOTH my kids (10& 6) with the $5 pizza & salad lunch special. I can only eat half the sandwich!! Everyone I have taken here loves it. Friends from Texas, DC, Utah, everyone digs it!

I ordered take-out on a Saturday night and it was a packed restaurant so I know this is a family favorite around town. The pizza was good and the salad was OK. The service was great. I'd come here again when my little nephews are in town since I don't eat pizza often. Nice family joint.

This another place my husband and I visit quite often. Omg I am in love with their hawaiin pizza. I always get the jumior/personal size pizza for myself. I have also had their pepperoni/sausage pizza and that is awesome as well! My husband like to get the spaghetti and meatballs with breadsticks. That's pretty good too, but I am really all about the pizza. I seriously can't get enough of it! Again this is one of those tucked away places in little old Bonsall so I'm guessing they get their bussiness through word of mouth. Well hopefully thos helps because I never want this place to close! We need more places like this in Bonsall. They just remodeled and added tv's so the inside is really nice....great place to go to! 5 stars Village Pizza. Now they just need delivery!

I haven't tried their pizza, but i hear it's great. Their sandwiches are AMAZING. Turkey and avocado. Try it. They're pretty nice guys, too, and their lunch specials are legit! Worth the drive when i take my sister out to lunch. Wish they had more outdoor seating.

Fallbrook/Bonsall doesn't really have a good pizza restaurant, so by default this is the best local pizza place. The tomato sauce isn't the best, but it isn't that bad either. A lot of my friends love this place, but I am a bit of a pizza snob so I don't get that excited to go there. However, when I do go there I am a huge fan of the Village Garlic Chicken pizza (no mushrooms). The garlic cream sauce is very good and the combination of toppings is one of my favorite types of pizza. The service here is ALWAYS good and friendly, which is more important than great food. If you are nearby and want pizza, it's definitely a safe bet.

THE only two negatives --- If you are a booze person they do not sell Beer etc. and that the bathrooms are outside the restaurant across a courtyard. I have been here several times each year for years Always good PIZZA ,, , Great dough crust , sauce & cheese For many this a out of the way place (lucky to have it in Bonsall) this not only gets great grades across the board but is a good / safe place to bring the children... ** The place has undergone a major expansion & renovation -- A great job with a fantastic restaurant as the finished product -- and yes they now have clean modern bathrooms inside - a plus

The funny thing about bonsall, it's a small place & I didn't knew that village pizza existed until some of my friends told me about it. Luckily, that day, I got time on my side & decided to visit this restaurant by myself. At first sight is the kitchen at the corner then few arcade games on one of the exists, then tables and TVs. I was surprised that an old friend was working here, he was the cashier and he recommended the special for me even though he was surprised that I ordered the large for myself, but I was convinced him because he recommended the junior size, which wouldn't never filled me up & I got my large pizza. It took like 10-15 minutes to get my pizza & I say it was worth it because the special is like a supreme, but few substitutes. I ate about 80-85 of the large pizza by myself happy & the rest for my mom. I would say to anyone that has a pizza appetite with in the bonsall area, come here.

Best pizza in the Fallbrook and Bonsall areas. It isn't as good as Chicago's pizza, but I give it all 5 stars because it has the best flavors, the highest quality of ingredients, and for the best prices of anything else nearby. Get the special combo with everything.

I've had great pizza from Village. I like the thinnish crust and the sauce has been very tasty. For the most part, it has been cooked just enough, not underdone or over done. The prices are also reasonable for the quality.

This place has great pizza! All of the ingredients taste wonderful and fresh while the crust is just perfect! This restaurant has a very cool atmosphere and the staff was very friendly with quick service. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the pizza here, and I can't wait to come back!

Ok so we got lost on our way back from Escondido and stumbled upon this cute little pizza place on Bonsall, California (??). Tucked in a Stepford-esque strip mall with flower shops and mom and pop pharmacies and outside bathrooms that look like they are from an elementary school (I was expecting powder soap and single sheet toilet paper squares). We ordered their veggie pizza because at this point I didn't care what I ate since I thought I was going to die of hunger. Never in my life have I had this fresh of a pizza! It was delicious, easy on the wallet and the waiter informed how to get back on I-5. They also serve sandwiches and pastas. I would love to go back but I'm not sure if I would be able to find it..!
