I give it 4 out of 5 only because they don't let you order pizza by the slice and they don't let you order pizza from their cozy bar. It's a wonderful family atmosphere with flat screens for the game and a decent draft beer selection. The staff is friendly, competent, and hardworking. Wonderful atmosphere, the pizza is very good and it's tucked away in the beautiful Belmont Hills.

Dj Vince Rocks, I can't wait to do karaoke again soon. He's a great karaoke dj. I've gone to alot of his shows so I would know.

Sports, beer, cocktails, trivia, and more! Chill with a diverse crowd. Order food from next door and have it delivered. Want fancy then go somewhere else. Wants to make friends then come on by.

This place is awesome! My girlfriends and I ventured here on Friday night for Karaoke, and we had a fabulous time! We will definitely be back!

Wasn't there for very long so my impression is from a very limited amount of time spent here. It was a pretty basic sports bar. I was there during the last fight of a UFC night and once the fight was over, this place went from pretty packed to almost no one in about 10 minutes. This was a weekend mind you. Kinda strange. I'd think people would want to hang out for at least a little bit, b.s some, finish drinks, etc. Guess not. Staff was pretty nice, drinks came fairly quick and yes, plenty of tv screens.

  • I'm Z.

Loud, dirty, horrible drinks... not even good as a dive bar. Dumpier than a bar you'd find in Modesto.

    (2)
  • Jessica O.

Very nice crowd here! Everyone is super welcoming! BEST YET, they play UFC fights here! You can catch all the important sports events going on here!

    (4)
  • Valerie R.

If sports is your thing.... GET HERE! UFC, World Cup, Olympics, NHL, MLB.... Comfortable seating. Lots of room.... Plenty of screens...... Both the JESSICa's are my favorite bartendresses!!

  • Tommy H.

This place is awesome!!!! they have all the classic bar game & a great bartenders. lots of cool local characters & a nice owner. come here on game night or fight night & you will not be disappointed. the specials are always worth it, I get pitchers. plus they have an awesome smoke shop across the street!!!!!

    (5)
  • Jeff E.

DIve...but should be good place to stop for a beer during traffic hours. One bar tender (male) is nice. The female bar wenches are always drunk and nasty. Jessica is a particular bitch with delusional fantasies. Can sometimes find TV remote... Would love to buy the place and redo it... But be ready for slow service from drinking, pool shooting bar hores.

    (1)
  • Amanda G.

Stopped in here for a drink, it was fairly empty, but it was early. Bartender was cool, friendly, and made much better mixed drinks than you would expect for a dive bar. I love a dive bar, and this fit the bill:) Another bonus, they are open on every holiday, (while other bars nearby aren't.)

    (4)
  • Ellen W.

Love this spot. Feels like I'm in that show "Cheers" where everybody knows my name! Goodtimes always. Great when we don't feel like buying ufc at the house.

    (5)
  • Patrick S.

Friendly, spacious. Pool table. Beer on tap. Sports on the box. Easy parking. Lots of history. El Camino was a dirt road when this place was built. Good spot.

    (4)
  • Lauren V.

You do not come here to make an impression on someone. You do not come here to drink artisan cocktails , and micro brews . You come here because you don't want to spend a ton of money. You come here because you want to watch a game , or sing Karaoke on a Friday night in the side room . Unless that's St James Gate? See I get all these bars mixed up.... no I think this is the one . Listen I've been to all the dives on the Peninsula being raised down there. Come here you will have a good time

    (3)
  • Brandon B.

This place is huge and they have a bunch of the classic bar games. They even have a punching machine and a full-size shuffle board table! They arrange a bunch of theme nights and I try to stop by after work on occasion; karaoke night is awesome. Keep a look out for their drink specials because they usually are really good deals. I love to watch the fights here because of all the screens and people. The Lariat feels like living entity with everyone having a good time.

    (5)
  • Ellen C.

After having dinner, my friends and I wanted a place to hangout and drink. We all choose this place randomly. It was an awesome pick. T hey acutally have karaoke!!! No, I didn't sing yet my friends did. I wasn't too intoxicated to embarrass myself ;-) The crowd was great the DJ was great! He was picking on us to sing, that was before the bar got packed then once the crowd slowly start coming in there were lots of people who sang. Great place to hangout and watch people sing.

  • Guillermo G.

The woman taking care of the door fee at the Lariat Tavern was drunk and extremely rude to us. Her violent, slurred speech was truly a sad spectacle. Avoid this place, the four-star review average is probably fraudulent.

    (1)
  • Earl G.

Not the dive you would expect from the outside. I came here with my boy Danny after burgers next door at Godfather's on a Friday night. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/xLJR… ) It's pretty spacious and relatively clean inside. There's a bunch of tv's, 3 pool tables, a long shuffle board, and some video games. Plus, they're showing the World Cup. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/xLJR… ) It's a chill neighborhood sports bar with a decent tap. Two corona's for $9. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/xLJR… ) Not exactly the lively dude fest like Ausiello's up the street but the crowd was diverse as you can get for a bar on El Camino in Belmont.

Solid dive bar walking distance from my place with pool tables for my buddies. Works for me!

    (4)
  • Maestro L.

    excellent friendly service

    (5)
  • Ray W.

Decent place to hang out and grab a beer or three! Although they don't carry food, you can order food from a variety of nearby restaurants and I believe they do run it there for you. I've been here a few times usually for UFC fights and it does get packed.. So get there early. Staff is friendly and they try to accommodate everyone even if it's apeshit crazy because Machida just got choked out by Jon Bones Jones! Remember, Tipping is not a city in China ~ Take care of your waitstaff and bartenders!

  • Manodeep S.

Had a good time with friends hanging around during 49ers game. Got complimentary chicken wings and those were really delicious. Beer was good, staff was friendly. Will visit again

    (4)
  • Kelly H.

First visit here in over ten years last night as a friend invited us to meet up for drinks. Had a beer and decided to go in and use the restroom. Its a single room rather than multi stall, so you would think the staff would care about cleanliness... Toilet working but unflushed 'business' in the bowl, wadded up seat covers and mounds of tissue. To top of the revolting scene I was gifted with the added bonus of someones remnant dried skids on the seat. SERIOUSLY?????? What kind of female patron does that? Moreover, ownership and staff take no pride in restroom cleanliness. So super disgusting we closed our tab and left. Will never, ever go back!

    (1)
  • Kimberly S.

Wow! I was hoping to give this 5 stars! Belmont is not known for a bar scene and this is not a place I would recommend to anyone. The owner is RUDE! I have never been so insulted in my life. He drinks on the job and gets a bit too into bar trivia that he is rude to paying customers so much so that we left and will never return

    (1)
  • Everton E.

Nice, cool, low key spot, where everybody knows my name! The owner of the place (Justin) is pretty cool.

    (5)
  • Jay B.

This is a cool place, there is a fun group of people that I find there every time that I go. It is not too packed, but there is a decent crowd. The bartender is good, so far I have only had draft beer from the place. Their drink specials are a good deal. They have a trivia night on Thursdays which can get a little raunchy sometimes but it is all in good fun. I hear they air any HBO PPV fights there too which sounds pretty cool if you are into that.

    (4)
  • Krystin I.

Always will love this place!! So many birthdays here

    (5)
  • Alicia Y.

Great sports bar. Crowd is usually pretty chill, but could be perceived as a little rough around the edges. The bartenders are great! I like that they offer drink specials.

    (4)
  • Hoss M.

Came here for fight night after the buddy's and our wives had dinner in San Carlos. Place was off the hook with a fun crowd. Lots of TVs and good sound. Will definitely be back for good local atmosphere. Also they have pool tables and shuffle board so it was nice to kick back several beers while shooting some pool.

    (5)
  • C. I.

Justin the owner and John the bartender are really cool. It's totally not a dive bar. They show all the pay per view UFC's for $10 and girls are free. The bathroom is small so expect to stand in a line.

    (4)
  • Erica G.

If I write two reviews can I give them 10 stars? That's how much I like The Lariat. My friends and I needed a nice, chill bar in the area to drink copiously at on a regular basis and The Lariat has completely filled our needs. It's decent sized, so when we have 10 people heading over there we don't feel badly about taking up a ton of space. They have trivia on Thursdays and Karaoke on Friday's and always have the major sporting events playing on TV. Their drink specials are great. The bartenders know us now and go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The owner knows us too (this is making us sound like complete alcoholics) and will buy us a round of shots when we're there and it's slow. Basically this is my favorite spot, and I love it, and I don't care who knows how often I'm there

  • Gianna D.

This place is a very cool laid-back neighborhood bar with a lot of locals. The bouncer at the door was a super cool guy as were the bartenders. It seemed like they knew everyone who had come in there more than once or twice, which gave this place a very warm and welcoming vibe. Although it was the day before thanksgiving the bar was pretty crowded! It must be because it was drinksgiving, clearly a very important holiday to the American people. This is a great hangout spot where you can play pool, shuffle board, or just talk with your friends. The only thing that people weren't doing here was dancing. This is more just your local "dive" bar, it isn't a lounge or place to dance. They make a pretty great drink here and don't skimp on anything! You are also required to try the jello shots, which were really fun and tasty and our group had a lot of fun with those throughout the evening! The Lariat is an awesome local bar, can't wait to come back with friends!

  • Stevie K.

The sand and rope. The Lariat is a bar with two personalities...local chill bar with plenty of space to sit, decent prices for drinks, pool tables, shuffle board, and lot's of flat screens for watching sports. And then there's UFC PPV's and the Lariat takes on a whole new persona where seats are hard to come by, pitcher's of Stella run $18+ and the hot dog guy outside is cringing every time the waiter from Godfather's is running an order over. Despite the high prices for the pictchers, it's still a great place to catch the fight with good crowd that's into it. I'll continue to frequent The Lariat on both types of nights, it's always been a reliable spot.

    (3)
  • Shane R.

randomly stopped by because i wanted to watch the As game and I didn't have time to go anywhere else. the place has probably been around before techies and yuppies took over the peninsula. a small diverse blue-collar crowd. surprisingly, the place has plenty of screens for sports, including one huge one. a small pool table and shuffleboard. bartender was nice. no food, but they are ok with you ordering food from godfathers down the street and even have their menu at the bar.

    (3)
  • Ken T.

lot's of big screens - quiet enough to have a conversation too. Nice and friendly bar keeps.

    (4)
  • Matt W.

Cheap drinks, free popcorn, a hoops arcade, pool table, and this machine that measures how weak you punch. This place is pretty awesome. This is a great dive bar.

    (4)
  • Lester A.

We came here for the Pacquiao/Marquez III fight and had a good time. They charge cover depending on the type of fight. Some fights everyone pays a cover, other fights just the guys pay cover, just call ahead and find out. They have plenty of TVs so you won't miss anything and plenty of seats. Just get there early for big fights. It's a cool spot to hang out even if there isn't a fight. The bartenders seem really cool and the prices aren't bad at all. I did see a guy there drinking out of a flask. Who brings a flask to a bar? That cheap douche does.

    (4)
  • Beck S.

Nobody can find a better hang out place then this. Nice people always! Love it!

    (5)
  • Andrew Y.

Bar is decent enough, but boy does it get packed in here for UFCs. There is hardly anywhere to sit, and the setup was not very efficient to seat people well. A bit stuffy in here as well.

  • Thao V.

Came here to watch the Mayweather Ortiz fight ($10 cover) after trying Hooters which was packed. We just wanted a place to watch the fight while being able to drink and eat at the same time and most pubs in SF doesn't serve food. But the Lariat was a great place to watch the game since you can order food from Godfather's burger down the street and I guess since it was a big fight, they also had a food set up inside the bar selling sandwiches and hot dogs. But the burgers were delicious, and they have Godfather's menu there so you can just call them and order and they'll deliver but we just went down the street and got to go. The bar is pretty big with lots of standing space and and seating space available. We didn't arrive early enough to grab seats, but there's a couple of tables, bar seating, a couch, and seats lined up against the wall. Lots of big TV's around the bar, staff is very friendly and a chill environment to hang out in!

Great bar. The owner and bartenders are very friendly. Great music, great prices and there is always something going on whether it's football, baseball, UFC Fights, karaoke, trivia or private parties. It's always fun at the Lariat :)

    (4)
  • Derrick C.

a dump, the pool table is in a bad location. Music was horrible. No diversity in the crowd.

    (1)
  • Colleen M.

Oh the Lariat, how do I love thee! This is a very chill bar (most of the time). They have some pool tables and a shuffle board table. I really like playing shuffle board, it's pretty fun. I've been coming here off and on for a few years and the staff is always friendly. The owner is great and is always up for a chat which is reflected in the rest of the staff. They are also really accommodating when it comes to having parties there. I planned a 70's pub crawl and asked the lariat if we could have there location for our Belmont stop and they couldn't have been nicer. We were allowed to hijack the music and played 70's music for the 2 hours we were there. Disco!!! I'm not sure if they are still doing trivia night, but if they are, definitely come here on that night! The guy who runs it has probably the most original trivia out there. Always a blast and you never know when there is going to be a bonus chugging round!

This is my fav local Belmont spot. Great for sports, good priced drinks, and a great owner. Trivia on Thursday with Kareoke on Friday. Oh yeah and a great jukebox.

I was with a buddy who recently moved to Belmont, and we had just come from another bar after work. We were planning to grab something to eat when we drove by the Lariat. I asked him if he had been there, he said no, so figured we would have one last drink before we found dinner. We were there pretty early, so not very crowded. The place is very open, and well-lit, so already a nice contrast to the bat cave bars that line El Camino. Decent music, pleasant bartender, good selection of alcohol. We ended up staying a couple hours, and over the course of those two hours the place really picked up. And not the typical crowd you would expect in that area; young, attractive, 25-40 years olds. I actually got a little nostalgic for some of the bars I frequented when I lived in SF...a lot of young people hanging out having a good time and unwinding from a long work week. Only difference is that the women outnumbered the men, which I never consider to be a bad thing. Check this place out at the end of your night, you will not be disappointed.

Need a local bar to go to? Check out the Lariat Tavern. The bartenders are all super friendly and drinks are for a reasonable price. After going there several times, it felt like everyone knew your name and it was great when the bartenders remember your specialty drink. The juke box has tons of music to choose from, shuffle board and 2 pool tables. Not to mention lots of flat screen TVs for the sports fan. They even have UFC fights aired as well. The bar is big enough to have a big group of your friends and not feel crowded in by others. I went there during the whole Giants Playoffs and Series and soon made many friends and it sure beats watching the games at home. I would highly recommend this place for any event or even just to grab a drink after work or hang out with friends during fantasy football. Thanks Justin for having a great place to hang out.

I went here by myself on 11-23-12 10:45pm'sh for karaoke, reason I found out about this bar was because I went to swingin' door last friday and met this person and he mentioned that he goes there also. As I entered the bar, it's mainly a younger crowd. As I stepped near the counter, one gentleman ordered a glass of pacifico, the bartender thought he wanted a pitcher, so she sold him the glass, so I thought, wait a minute, I like that beer also and ordered a glass, she sold me a glass for $4(cool), My initial song I sang was "you gave love a bad name" by bon jovi and followed up with "let's groove"by earth wind and fire, followed by "september"(they didn't have this song, but ordered it though---this dude is alright. I also sang "this is how we do it" by montell jordan and "I gotta feeling" by black eye peas. The host and his partner sang some songs(never heard some of them, but those were funny). Surprisingly, there was a diverse crowd too. I ordered two blue moon beers and sierra nevada at $4.50 each (it's fair). Chris or Kris(owner of bkr productions), he's an amiable person and threw good show. It's on every friday from 10pm to 1:30pm

Good people. Music was so so. I like Motown so they need more old music. Pool tourniment would be welcome. The bartenders are cool. Recommend watching sports here. Lots of tv's. Likedt the crowd at the last fight(Pacquio). Spelling isn't right. three and one half stars of 4. Fun place to hang out!

Really is as good as it gets, best thing to do is find them on Facebook, friend them and that way you will be up to date on the goings on and believe me there is always something. Make you way, check it our for yourself. Oh yea, also a great place to throw a party, 21'st, anniversary or any kind of a reunion.

    (5)
  • Amy B.

Ok, so I'm not going to BS you. I wouldn't really go as far as to say it's "nice" inside. It's a typical hometown type car. Nothing more. They have a few beers, a good selection of alcohol, run drink specials daily and they have some pool table and a shuffle board that is nicer than Aussiello's. That's really all there is to say about this place.

    (3)
  • Bobby W.

Stiff reasonable drinks, 3 pool tables, HDTVs throughout, shuffle board, darts, drink specials, hot dice games, pretty girls, nice bartenders, etc... WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR? Let the good time roll on Lariat!

    (5)
  • Ashley C.

Sorry to all the Lariat lovers but I just can't get used to this place and I've had my share of times being here. My friends seriously would have to drag me or better have a good excuse to go (like meeting a really hot guy). They only have a few beer on tap, big no-no in my book. Just because I don't like doesn't mean you will too. You can't knock til you try it, right? They do have pool tables and a few others. Oh and one bathroom, so hope you don't mind waiting in line if it's busy.

Good spot to watch pay-per-view boxing or UFC / MMA events. Just don't get their cabernet, aka purple-colored vinegar.

The best place to go with friends for the modern working man pentathlon --- shuffle board, basketball, pool, air hockey and cocktails priced right!! When on a search for a stop on the drinking train - this place warrants a visit. Friendly staff, easy parking, non cramped atmosphere along with themed parties makes this place a must stop and see location.

  • Brent T.

Tonight was the first time here and I must say that I had a great time. Definitely fun watching the Giants beat the Phillies and also watching the UFC at the same time. Cool and friendly people were here. I highly recommend catching a game and a drink here.

    (5)
  • Hanneke F.

UFC Fights? Yes. AND you can order Godfather's Burgers to deliver there? Oh yes. Ample tv's. $10 to watch the fight (your hand gets stamped), but ladies are always free :) Pitcher prices are somewhat pricey, $12-15. Way better experience than Hooters to watch UFC. Did I mention you can order Godfather's (down the street) to bring you a delicious, piping hot burger and side of fries?!

    (4)
  • Marlena W.

I went to this bar a few months ago and had a really great experience. The owner was really cool and the bartender served up some yummy drinks.....nice price too! There are plenty of flat screen tv's for watching sports events and there were even pool and hockey tables. Overall good atmosphere and great music....I enjoyed myself....I will definitely be back!

I went here last night to meet up with some friends. This place is the worst place I have been to. It felt like they were trying to be like Ausiello's Tavern. The wine they gave me sucked ass. They told me this is the best stuff we have and omg it felt like I was drinking apple juice. When I went to go pay for my drinks it came out to 18$. WHAT 18$ for 3 glasses of wine and not even good wine. At Ausiello's Tavern I would have only payed 15$. Yeah their isn't much difference on price but the taste of it has a HUGE difference. They only have two pool tables that were like next to one another. So that made it hard to play a game because you would be either hitting the other table or people around you. The shuffleboard table was what really got me wanting to kill. It was the worst table I have ever played on. It was hard for me to talk to my friends with all the music blasting around us so we had to yell at one another while also having creepy drunk guys trying to remember how to talk to another people. At some point I felt like cameras from To Catch a Predator was going to come out and run up to the guys as ask them what are you trying to do hitting on these girls and maybe guys? Worst place I been to for drinks. Ill try to go on another night and maybe give it one more chance.

  • Ray M.

This place is my favorite local bar. The owner Justin is really nice and remembers all of his regulars. They also have about 10-15 HD TVs (including a huge 100 inch projector) so you can always watch your favorite team! The bartenders here are also very friendly. They have a different daily happy hour special and will have sports-related specials as well (like if the Sharks score a goal $2 shots or something). The only minor downside is that they don't serve food, but on specific days they have free food, bacon Thursdays anyone? And if you want food Godfather Burger will deliver there! They also have pool, and shuffleboard and on Thursdays they have trivia night. Overall a very friendly atmosphere where you can socialize and watch your favorite team.

I like this bar. Cool bartenders. Good stiff cocktails @ reasonable prices. They've got pool tables and a nice big shuffle board table as well. Lots of big TV's make it great for sporting events. I've been to a UFC event that they hosted and it was only $10 to get in so that was awesome. They were serving cheap tacos during the fight which I thought was super clutch. There were a lot of people there and it wasn't hard to see the TV's at all. It's located right on the El Camino so you've got to be responsible when choosing how you will get home.

Most chicks here have big round butts and graduated high school in 1990-1998. Oh and they sing along to Def Leppard songs. Down the road from Hillsdale shopping center just past the Safeway. They have their own parking lot and a shuffle board table. It's a Coors light sort of place... know what I mean? Every guy seems to be holding a coors light? The girls here are funny. I really do love them. They are so nice and friendly. They like talking to you while brushing their big boobs against you to garner a reaction. Totally different from the hot stuck up cunty-hose-bitches in the Marina. Then again most of the girls in the marina wear a size 2-6. The girls here wear a size 10-16+. After a few beers I was thinking about taxing one of these girls......I decided my pelvis couldn't take repeated stress of hooking up with a girl that weighed more than me. The place has 2 pool tables, with really shitty pool sticks, The shuffle board is a much better way to spend your time. Sat night wasn't very crowded. You can always find a seat which is wonderful. But be warned. This is a 28-38 bar crowd. You know....blue eyeshadow, tight "muffin top" jeans, and black halter tops. A step below being a cougar bar, so these girls won't have kids at home, but you can damn well bet your ass that they want some. Bottle beers $3.....go here first and drink, then get a ride to DT San Mateo or Burlingame. There you can find the girl of your magazine dreams, you know the one that had some tap water for dinner?..ewww (Shivers inwardly) P.S. Tiesha T. totally wants me.....can't you feel it ?

This bar is one of those places that looks scary on the outside, but inside is fairly mild-mannered and actually nice. I admit that the first time I went here, I was expecting toughs with mustaches and tattoos, along with their boyfriends, but it's actually (I hesitate to say) a bit upscale. VERY clean place, open and airy, good selection of both beer and hard alcohol, and not very crowded (how do they stay in business?). They have a couple of decent-sized TVs for watching the latest sporting event, but it's really more of a light pool-hall. I've never had an issue getting a drink, you just have to actually go up to the bar -- don't expect them to come around and ask you. The only complaint I have is that they don't serve any food. I mean ANY. But they've been pretty cool in the past about when my friends and I have brought in pretzels, chips and other snacks, so that makes up for it a bit.

Not bad. Good walking distance to other restaurants.

This place has location going for it. You are driving down El Camino and you are probably like, I just need to find a place to chill, have a few drinks, play some pool. This is that sort of place. The place has 3 pool tables and a shuffle board table. Usually a quiet crowd or a loud happy 21st crowd and when that happens it usually means really bad jukebox music crowd too, I think everyone was forced to listen to more than 2 hours of boy band music that was queued up before leaving one night. But I mean this place is a bar. I would give it an extra star because it serves its purpose but two dings it has against it are slow bartenders, like 5 minutes pouring a beer from the tap (nice people though) and no food. I still come here though cause it is close to work and is an easy access bar.

    (3)
  • Drew P.

This is a place to drink and play pool. I haven't been there when it was crowded, and I haven't eaten anything cause the kitchen is always closed by the time I arrive, but sometimes I just want to drink and play pool. Is that so wrong? I love the long bar that stretches along the entire wall. The liquor selection is a little limited, but for a neighborhood bar, what do you expect? PROS: - Usually not crowded, very low-key - 3 pool tables - Very affordable CONS: - Not the place to meet people

Where do all the 20 somethings go? I just moved to Belmont, and did a little pub crawl (or tried to) with my girlfriends to check out the local dive bars. The place was empty except for one group that seemed to live there. The bartender did not leave their side, we were not served, and we left. The place has pool tables, so has potential to be kinda fun, but what they need is a bartender that wants to serve somebody besides his closest friends. Mark is one fine f'er B: I graduated high school in 1998 and I resent your remark. If only you could get a hot 26 year old ....you would not sound like such an idiot.

Great bar! The bartenders are all super friendly and pour a stiff drink for a reasonable price. I had my brothers birthday party there a couple of weeks ago and the owner (Justin) was really great to deal with. He let us bring in our own food and use the kitchen to store the cake, etc. Juke box has tons of music to choose from, shuffle board, pool tables, basketball and air hockey! Not to mention lots of flat screen TVs for the sports fan. The bar is big enough to have a big group of your friends and not feel crowded in by other patrons. I would highly recommend this place for any event you want to throw or even just to grab a drink after work.

I like this place. i went here the other night. It had a nice crowd. It is what it is. It isn't a fancy bar or club. It is a place to get a drink.. play pool.. Listen to some music... It is in Belmont... It is clean..and affordable.. I will go back...

It seems really big from the outside and it is really big inside but with all that space you tend to notice how empty it really is most of the time. The bartender is really nice and friendly and all that so my guess is that the fact that not much is around it is the main cause. There is a shuffle board, pool tables and air hockey inside so it does have potential...However, on the flip side, when people have their birthday parties here it tends be more fun.

Not sure what some other yelp'ers are expecting from the service. Its a bar. You go to the bar, if the bartender doesn't see you right away, maybe they're busy- or heck, its a bar, feel free to holler at them. I like the Lariat because it doesn't try to be something its not. Its a nice clean bar with a new digital juke-box that has tons of music, 3 good pool tables, cold beer, flat screens, and a big screen for sports. (I was a little bummed to learn they didn't get the NFL package last year, but hopefully they'll be getting it this season) I agree with a lot of folks - The crowd is usually pretty light, but that doesn't bother me one bit. Makes it easy to get a table and a beer and hang out with friends.

They started karaoke!!!!!! This bar is pretty cool, its big enough, got a pool table and shuffle board, nice long bar, and various seating options. Friendly new owner and of course our favorite bar tender Jeide!! So excited about the karaoke run by DJ BKR! He also runs Trivia on Thursday nights and its a blast. They also do lots of sports stuff, like hosting Boxing Matches, UFC, Football, Baseball, Soccer, you name it they likely have it. They also pass out free bacon on certain nights, mystery $2 shots, beer and drink specials. So far I really like the way this place is being run and have not had a bad experience yet.

Location,Location,Location its the closet bar too me with that said Justin the bartender is cool & the atmosphere is relaxed when I've been there...The Lariat Tavern isn't the place to meet or pick up chic's the majority are taken, more of a bar to hang with a group of friends the expectations are pretty low here...Yes,there is a lot of unused space but I think they have a decent amount of bar games Air Hockey,Shuffleboard & 3 Pool tables.... Another cool attribute to the Lariat is it doesn't get crowded on a regular basis like the Carlos Club bumping into everyone & spilled drinks really sux.. When the Lariat does get crowded its usually for a themed party like Halloween,White Trash then ur prepared to be moving through the crowd.. The Lariat is what it is so check it & see for yourself....

This is the first review I've written on Yelp but I just had to give this place some love... I came across the Lariat when I moved to Belmont and needed to find a new bar to watch my Arizona Wildcats basketball games. I walked in and the owner, Justin, greeted me right away and asked me which tv I wanted to watch the game on...off to a good start so far. As I chatted with Justin (while watching the Cats beat ASU!), I learned that they have plans to open up the kitchen and start serving food, and that they do special events for UFC fights...still looking good. During halftime I was allowed to play a free pool game...getting better. Then the kicker...when I asked to close my tab after the game, my four beers came out to a whopping $10. BINGO! I told them right then and there that this is my new game bar, and it has been ever since. I strongly recommend the Lariat tavern to anyone on the peninsula who is looking for an affordable night of drinking with fun and friendly people. PS, on Thursday's they put out baskets of free bacon at 5pm and they do trivia. I haven't been able to partake in the trivia yet, but I hear it goes til pretty late. Check this place out!

Decent dive bar; cheap drinks! I've always had decent friendly service here. Nice place to meet a friend if it's quiet, but can be irritating when it's the 'I just turned 21' crowd. Music is mediocre, but a plus for clean restrooms!

So much wasted potential. Pool tables, games, large bar area. Unfortunately, wow...this place was pretty much lame. We walk in at around midnight on a Saturday, there's maybe 20 people in the whole place (and it's a pretty big bar). We try to get a drink, but end up waiting for a while and being ignored. I'm used to the waiting for a while and pretty much being ignored at a busy bar (and even at busy bars you don't wait this long)...but by no means was this place busy. Obviously, we didn't stay long and ended up walking down Harbor and ending up at some random biker bar where we DID get served.

Now that this bar is under new ownership it has definetely turned into an incredible bar with a lot of great new additions on the way. I've been to this bar in the past because of its close proximity to my house and it was a place that lacked energy and personality. Under new ownership this bar has transfromed into a great place to enjoy sporting events with friends. The crowd is much more enthusiastic and really makes for a great atmosphere. This place is also HUGE boasting a few pool tables, shuffle board, air hockey, and an arcade basketball hoop. I highly recommend this venue and the employees are extremely down to earth!!!

I agree with Earl G. Most bars on the El camino are a Joust!! all guys no pretty girls. I like to ride my bike up and down the El camino and stop off for a beer or 2 at random places. The Lariat was a great place to have a few beers and watch the Giants game. I was pleasantly suprised by the amount of good looking friendly women in there who seem to be real sports fans. I'll be back to watch the World Cup games. It's definitely the best new Sports Bar on the Peninsula.

Never went here before, but the place is under new ownership now, and they got some great specials for drinks. They have tons of TV's and will be showing the World Cup games!! Def worth checking out!

I agree with several people that have had bad service at this place. i like the pool tables, and the shuffle board. the juke box could use a little bit less rap, and some more blues/classic rock/rock/country... anything but rap i guess. the crowd varies, mostly younger crowd, can't complain about that. I only wish i didn't have to wait until the bar was closed to try asking for a drink, only to be told that the bar is closed.

talk about a dive bar! i have a girlfriend who loves this place and i can't figure out why... possibly because she owns a harley and fits in real well with the rest of the clientele. rough crowd, dark and gritty. the kind of place where you would do whiskey shots while playing pool.
