Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Good beer and food. The turkey leg special is nice. Decent service and it's a nice big open place inside.

The food at PHBC was really good. My fiancé was in town and we wanted to get some local eats. We were not disappointed. The Jailbird was awesome! We also got the two meat plate with tritip and brisket. The meats were good, but we grew up on Texas BBQ...so I could not say that it was amazing. Which is why we are rating our experience as 4 stars. We had the seasonal porter and the house wheat beer. They were good and worth trying. The food was served on a metal plate. Although neither of us have been to prison, I feel like it gave us that authentic prison experience! It is a nice way to finish your trip after checking out the famous territorial prison.

Nice service and varied menu. One of the only bars with vegetarian options. Spring rolls & deep fried avocados are vegan.

Danielle was the bartender and took good care during my visit. Her IPA reccomendation was superb (Coronado Imperial...I am usually a Stout drinker ) The turkey sandwich was more than enough for dinner. A varied and eclectic malt- tonic selection. As Mr. Shwartzneger said "I'll be back"....

Yum. Excellent freshly made (from stratch), flavorful food. Great service. The atmophere was clean and comfortable. We had poblano burgers, a southwest salad and my daughter had the chicken strips from the kids menu. We will be returning when we pass through Yuma on our way home to San Diego. If they were in San Diego, I'd return more often! Thanks Yelpers for a spot on recommendation.

Had to go to the bartender to get drinks when we were there for more than 10 minutes. Drinks were slow and it took 30 minutes to get appetizers on a Friday night. Asked to see a manager and he showed up about five minutes later. He bought us a round of drinks, but I would've preferred better service to a free beer. Increase proactivity from a leadership perspective, staff appropriately for what night if the week it is, and train your staff better. Goodness: Awesome microbrew selection.

Have been to Prison Hill four times in the last two months and each visit has been slightly less impressive. In general, the service is decent (by Yuma standards) and the drinks and atmosphere are alright as well. During my second to last visit to Prison Hill I was with a group of 15 people. The server was rocking it over all until our food started coming out. The dishes came out in twos and threes over the course of about five minutes. Not terrible, but not great. The part that wasn't good at all was me and another of my party were the only ones left without food for at least ten minutes after everyone else had our food. We kept waiting for our food to come out or our server to come back over to check on everyone but no such luck. After a solid ten minutes or more we had to flag down one of the bartenders walking by to ask about our food and it took another five minutes for both of us to get our food, by which time most of our party had finished eating. The food was pretty good and everything else went smoothly so we shrugged it off, I went back in the next day for lunch while I was downtown with my fiancee. The place was practically empty; one other person at the bar and two tables with four people each. There were three servers and a bartender working and while we didn't have to wait for service or anything, the employees all spent their downtime gathered at the side of the bar, two stools from us, chatting about their personal lives and showing each other stuff on pinterest on their phones. I understand it's slow and there's not a lot to do but it was super unprofessional to shoot-the-__ so close to us with their backs to us. I ordered the appetizer sampler and was pretty unimpressed. Everything was cooked well- the chicken was juicy and everything was hot- but it was just plain "meh". The chicken was fried with a breading but there was NO seasoning. It was completely bland. The meatballs had BBQ sauce so they weren't bland but they tasted exactly like meatloaf rolled into balls. Nothing meatball-ish about them accept the fact they were meat in the shape of a ball. The sausage had good flavor and everything but it wasn't super fresh and it was also covered in the BBQ sauce. It wasn't bad, but for one of their signature items it tasted pretty generic. I'm not saying I'll never go back, but for the standards of the places around it like Pint House, Da Boyz, and Main Squeeze, it's definitely not on-par. I feel like my initial couple visits were moderately more impressive than my recent ones.

What a great find! On our way thru and stopping for lunch. Great beer. Great brisket and met some awesome folks at the bar. We'll be back!

We stopped at this place on our way back from IMAZ and I can't say enough good things about it. Great food. Great atmosphere. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 was that they were out of a LOT of beer, but eh that's not a horrible thing.

Food was delicious, as always, and I love that they are now serving wine. However, tonight's service was subpar, at best. The server didn't check back with us much, and my husband had to go to the bar to get his ale and my wine. The rest of our party had empty glasses for over half an hour. I had to ask for silverware, as well. We were considering dessert, but decided to pass tonight, in large part, due to the poor service.

Let me start by saying that anybody who gives a bad, rather than constructive, review to a place only 5 days after it has opened should be given the credit that they are due. NONE!!! Laissez les bons temps rouler ! Apportez sur les aliments et permet d'avoir une bière ! Mon ami, vous avez fait une chose merveilleuse êtes-vous sûr que vous n'êtes pas de la Louisiane ? Okay, now I have tried the food and experienced the Prison Hill Brewery on three separate occasions. First, let me acknowledge that I have known the owner for several years. That, however, has no effect on my review. There are just too many people who would call me on this if I was not truthful. First, the food and the beer are both reasonably priced. Service: It is clear to me that the serving staff have received more than just a bit of training. Much more!! I experienced three different staff members. All three were very professional, knowledgeable of both the food and the beer. This is very important when you are serving items of which your clients may not be fully informed. I truly believe that these folks enjoy working at the Prison Hill and have internalized the values of the owner. Good service, backed by good food and drinks. Here is the big one for me. There was nice music in the BACKGROUND!! You could hold a conversation with your friends. As the owner noted, the loudest noise in the place should be the conversation at the table next to you, not the music. After all this is a brewery not a bar. The brewery has clean lines, an open feel to it, several different types of seating and a lot of it. Mind you, I love a bar, but there needs to be places where you can really relax, enjoy the food and drink AND enjoy visiting with your friends. I have previously commented on the beer, but on the second two trips I expanded my exposure to other choices, all from the brewery. While not all of them were to my taste, they were all good. (Some people, much to may annoyance confuse these two things). If you don't like a dark beer, why order it and then complain. BTW, my favorite remains the Cell Block. Now to the food. Of course, I did not try everything on the menu. That is a vicious rumor started by one of my friends. I only tried a few items. Okay, maybe a bit more than a few. The Jailbird was great; however, if you are there with a group I urge that you try the Poutine. PHBC does it a little different as compared to what you might find in Montreal. That is not a bad thing. Rather than using large and long french fries, PHBC uses a shorter version. They got the taste right. Fries, brown gravy and cheese. Call the cardiac surgeon!! What I liked about the way they served it was that is made for a very shareable snack. All in all, my experience was very positive. Of course, I will be back. Larry

Let me preface this review with a confession: I love beer. I really love craft beer. I love BBQ. With that off my chest I can now begin my biased assessment of this temple to craft brews and delectable smoked meats. The names of beer and menu items are unique and often humorously connected to prison slang or have a local tie-in. The brewmaster Chris is always trying something new and never fails to amaze. One of the first beers I tried when they opened was a session ale with a slightly lower than normal alcohol content. It was amazing and just right to drink for hours in the hot summer. The brown ale is great after a long day, and their IPA is a crisp and refreshing revelation. The food is great as well. The smoked meat plate, the naked yard bird, and turkey bacon sandwich (I forget it's name) are all glorious. They also have a dog friendly patio that my meatball of a dog enjoyed. Beer is great. Local craft beer is the best.

My wife took her son and family there. She said this place is very relaxing with good house brewed beer. Her son also very much liked the beer and kicked back atmosphere. Would recommend this place to everyone. Drop by and have a cold one. You will be glad you did.

OMG what a find! We've been going to Lutes for years.....until now! This place us the bomb! The beer choices are amazing every single day, but if you're tired of beer, they have a full bar! Don't stop there though!!! The service is above par! We met Ashlee, Joell & Lauren & felt we knew these kids from children. Did I mention the FOOD??? OMG Fried avocado, pizza bread with beer/cheese dip, mussels, chicken tortilla soup, brisket...I could go on! Please go check this place out & keep them in business downtown!

Prison Hill Opened September 2014. Great addition to Main Street Yuma. They are one of the only places that take credit/debit card. Makes it easier to go out without having to stop by an ATM. They have amazing food and a great beer selection. They rotate lots of craft beer through on tap. Plus they usually have at least one house craft beer on tap as well. The brewmaster is Chris. He's a great guy with lots of experience brewing. Craft beers because of their local audience can take risks with flavors and ingredients that the big brewing companies can't even get close to. Try the local drink and you'll be pleasantly surprised how refreshing it is from your normal shitty lite beer.

  • Jeff K.

Pleasantly surprised. Normally I'd taste the beer at a place like this and be overwhelmed with caustic bitterness, but this place was not so bad, especially given their basic brewing setup. I'd stop back on my next trip between Phoenix & San Diego.

There's kind of two reviews here, 1st beer/environment: 4-the beer is really good, the service is great. I like the open feel of the restaurant. 2nd the food....which is why it gets an overall 2. I had one of the crafty burgers which sounded really delicious...it was underwhelming. Meat wasn't seasoned at all....coleslaw was standard. My husband had the brisket sandwich. The onion/cheese mixture was better than the meat, which was rubbery. I'm from Texas, and that's a sin to make brisket rubbery. A bit of work needs to be done on the food, and it would've been an awesome experience. I would definitely go back for the beer.

I like the atmosphere and the outside seating. I would like to give this joint 4 stars but the food and the beer selection just hasn't gone over the top for me. The indoor seating area for some reason feels awkward - I can't put my finger on it but if you walk inside you will feel what I mean. Also the downfall about sitting outside in the evening is that you have to listen to the loud crappy music & bass that's blaring from the Top of The Kress - Huge huge thumbs down - the staff & service though has always been above average for Yuma, kudos to them.

Tasty burgers and delicious salads. A fine selection of locally brewed beers! Recommend!

After returning a couple more times the booze was great but the food not so much. Too bad they don't hire someone with some talent in the cooking department, but they haven't. Until I read better reviews regarding the food, I won't bother coming back.

Had the Jailbird, it was delicious. Good beer selection. Actually had it at 4 stars then realized it was Yuma so I gave it 5. Keep this place in business.

I am very pleased to say that Prison Hill Brewing Co is my favorite spot in Yuma. I am very excited about this place and I plan on going weekly. Not only will I eat and drink there, but I will tell all my friends they have to try it!! It's a happening place with excellent beer and food. They are particular about the quality of their beer. They have good food and presentation. It's a really perfect place for a drink or dinner. You feel as if you can hang out there all night. One of the reasons I love Prison Hill Brewing so much is because their atmosphere is inviting. The staff is friendly and helpful. I have tried several of their beers and they were delicious. Very cold and very fresh. I look forward to trying all of their new beers. They take pride in their product and it shows. You have to try Yuma's newest hot spot. It's exactly what downtown was missing.

Dry burger. Not better the 2nd try. Unremarkable BBQ. Pretzel was good but needed more beer cheese. Beer was good.

Went back and met some friends. I was feeling like a salad that night and ordered the big house salad. The description sounded appetizing with the menu saying "fresh mixed greens, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and carrots." Did not get the onions but added on shrimp (for an extra $3.50). What I got was 4 slices of tomatoes, cucumbers, and carrots with a few mushrooms and 4 large but ICE COLD shrimp. The rest was a large bowl of nothing but lettuce!! I was livid. $10.00 for a bowl of lettuce with a few toppings thrown on?! That is beyond ridiculous. When I informed the waitress that I was not going to eat just a bowl of lettuce, she brought me back free fries but while this was all going on, I saw her complaining to another server and they were pointing out my table and rolling their eyes while making faces. Classy. The salad was not taken off the bill but the fries were free. I will NOT be returning to a restaurant that serves bowls of lettuce as a "salad" and has obviously rude staff.

I come from the land of breweries. They are spot on great food too. Now filing growlers too.

My new favorite beer is the 1st Offense!!! It was delightfully drinkable and refreshing. Especially good for washing down The Stack burger and those awesomely unique fried potatoes! The ambience is very comfortable. It's a place you can hang out and lose track of time... Meeting new people and trying new beers.

  • My point of view. D.

Wow! What a flippin poor excuse for a brewery. You can totally tell that the owners only hire their Yuma brethren, I make that statement with 110% confidence. The bearded hipster doucher gave zero fucks about taking care of us. I had to be the one to ask about the different kinds of beers they had, and the look on his face was as if I just asked him to donate a lung. Our friends food came out first and ours came out like 15 minutes later, his response my bad I forgot to put yours in. Now don't get me wrong folks if we were jerks, arrogant, rude totally understand to receive this kind of treatment, but we were upbeat friendly and nice and this ass munch just did not care. and it really is a shame because the food was pretty good, but just like most Yuma ran businesses customer service is not at the top of their priorities.

This place is a treat to walk into. The way everything is set up just gives you that relaxed vibe. I love it. The beer selection is good.. My only wish is for them to brew more beer for there menu. They only have 3 beers of there own to choose from everything else is main restaurant beer. The food was amazing.. Such a creative talent when creating the menu too. Fast service and decent music to listen to while your relaxing. I will be back there to eat again.

Visited on October 3rd, 2014 and were promptly seated. Once seated, service was great and drinks came within 2-3 mins of order. Once food was ordered, came out properly cooked and the order was 100% correct including drinks. I had the quartermaster, a roasted chicken dish that was great. Sides of seasonal vegetables and house slaw were seasoned perfectly. I did not order a beer, but the selection was very unique. Will definitely visit before I leave Yuma.

Ended up here on the way back to Phoenix from San Diego. Excellent beer selection, great food and a very nice atmosphere. Will definitely be returning anytime I'm passing through Yuma.

This place is worth every star! I am always a fan of whatever local breweries I find, but add on great service and amazing food? Obviously I'm sold. I had the crostini too easy, and it was great. They actually know how to prepare the bread properly so that it isn't to crunchy or too soft. My only complaint would be that the ranch didn't seem as fresh as it should be. The beers have so far been delicious as well, and I am a connoisseur of craft beers. I well definitely be back many times!

Great new addition to the Yuma restaurant line up! The atmosphere is unique for the area and the food is pretty good as well. I got a salad, but stole some of my sister's "fries/chips" combo - to die for! The fries are cut in a "twister" shape and served piping hot, warm and fluffy on the inside but still perfectly crisp on the outside. Can't wait to go back and order more!

I really liked the food here. The chicken & waffles were delicious! The beers are local & very unique tasting. They have beer flights which are always fun. The servers were also very good & attentive.

Great food. ... I had the Snitch and loved it. Try the "hot for teacher " beer. It's of the hook! Must try

Stumbled across this place traveling back to Cali looking for a quick bite that was not fast food. Prison Hill Brewing Co did not disappoint! Their house brewed beers were full flavored and they keep on tap an awesome pineapple cider from Ace that was so delish! The food is prepared perfectly, they totally nailed it with their pulled pork sandwich and their burger was a classic that everyone will be happy with. I wanted to write this review as the bar keep (owner?) was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about their budding business... I asked how long they had been in business and his reply was "Just 4months... Just learning to crawl but we will be walking soon" well sir I say you guys hit the ground running! Bottom line is this is a great place to stop when in Yuma & hungry or thirsty!

  • Daniel P.

This place is great! The handcrafted beers are rich, full bodied and absolutely amazing! What goes great with a cold brew? Some great food! Had the Tri-Tip sandwich. It was delicious and filling! With the sandwich I had a choice of sides. I got the homemade chips and BBQ beans. All together... Exceptional!!! The staff were friendly and helped create a comfortable atmosphere. This place is worth a visit. Whether or not you enjoy a quality craft beer or prefer the comfort of a brand name light beer your gonna love this place!

  • Jud S.

I have gotta say that I really like this place. The styling, the service, the food is all good. The beer, yeah, the beer! Dig it! I will bring friends here. The music is good too. Which reminds me, Boycott Kanye!

  • Kait H.

It is nice to have another choice on Main Street in Yuma. Food was good, and there is a decent beer variety. My main complaint is that they do not offer beer flights, nor do they have more than 3 of their own beers at a time, both staples in any establishment with "brewing" in their name.

    (3)
  • Cain A.

Food was good but not great. Branded as a brewing company yet has only 1 house brew on tap. Pricing is high for a blue collar town: 2 sandwich entrees, 1 pretzel app, 1side of veg, 1 beer= $44.00 before tip. Decor seemed scattered, a brew pub should feel cozy, this place has a cafeteria feel about it. Cut prices by 15%, reel in the decor, actually brew some damn beer, and I would come back regularly.

    (3)
  • Loren Z.

A very refreshing experience! The beers served here are excellent! A little disappointed that they only had 2 house brews on tap. But that's because I am about trying local flavors. Otherwise a great place to be with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

    (4)
  • IgottaBootie T.

The food is delicious, and plenty. Staff is friendly. Gets a little warm in there, but it's not too bad if you sit towards the back in your bathing suit LOL The heat doesn't stop us from returning.

  • Robert L.

The beer selection is excellent, the brisket however was very fatty and very tough. That is why the low rating. The inside is quite nice. I'll have to try another dish next time. Also it is quite expensive especially if you can't eat your dinner. The six dollar beers are no bargain either.

    (3)
  • Annie P.

Great place to hang out. Beer selection was great. Agree with some of the other viewers about the pricing. I'm not a beer drinker. I like liquor more. I was a bartender and saw the night bartender under pour my double shot and charged me $9. Normally I don't care but when my drink tasted more water then alcohol, it's call cheating. I'll stick with just food and water next time.

This is by far, the best good in Yuma! The homemade chips are incredible, chicken & waffles YUM! Sandwiches are huge and sooo good. Best of all, the beer is COLD!!!!!

  • Rick G.

Great place in the Historic part of Yuma. We had the sampler along with the house salad. That was enough for us and the food was unusual and very tasty. We didn't get any beer as we are teetotalers, LOL . A very nice change from our usual fast food up on I-8.

    (4)
  • Ashli R.

Pretty good. Super friendly. Great atmosphere, the tri tip had great flavor, but could have been warmer, and the mac salad needed salt or more seasoning. They were busy, and their computer system went down right after we arrived. The husband loved his pulled pork sandwich (it was delicious). Their "1st Offense" house crafted beer was delicious! We will be going back, Saturday night actually ;)

    (4)
  • Anton E.

Was here on opening night a couple weeks ago. Food was incredible. Super busy, but surprisingly quick for the volume of people in there at the time. "1st Offense" blonde Ale is the best micro-brew I've ever had. Shank burger was awesome stuffed with bacon and cheese & garnished with a tempura fried avocado. My daughter had the pulled pork which had great smokey flavor. The wife had a chicken Caesar salad that was HUGE! neat atmosphere. I recommend it to anyone wanting to sit down on the ride to and from Phx/San Diego. Get away from the corporate restaurants. Eat local. Prison Hill is worth the drive.

Relatively new place. I've been there twice now. Beer list isn't extensive, but what they make is good and what they stock is fun. I'm not a beer drinker so I can't get technical. I can only say I got the beer sampler ($8 for 4 good sized samples) each time for the heck of it and actually liked the stuff! Food: their smoked pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are exceptional. Real smoked flavor...not added in with smokey BBQ sauce. Pleasant surprise. Their horseradish sauce is tasteless and runny. There is no point in putting it on the table unless you find you need moisture. Their cole slaw is some of the best I've eaten and usually I only like my own recipe. Theirs is excellent. Their macaroni salad is dry and has absolutely NO flavor. Very disappointing. Their homemade chips are delicious. I actually carried the rest of mine home to finish later. Their poutine would be better if the fries weren't so large...they are bigger than steak fries. Their sampler plate of appetizers would make more sense if there were 4 pieces of each item rather than 4 of some and 3 of others. It makes it awkward to 'sample' things at a table of 4 people when each person can't sample each item. The atmosphere is not great, but no big deal other than it was pretty chilly in there. Service was good, attentive without hovering. Much better than their sister place, The Pinthouse, where you only get good service from the young female waitresses if you are a young good looking guy. The server at Prison Hill dropped our take out boxes on the dirty floor and placed them on our table for us to use anyway. That was totally gross. I took them to a hostess and asked for 4 clean ones. I waited with the dirty ones to be sure they didn't just hand us the same ones. But the hostess did not throw them away at her desk, I saw her carry them to the back. I should have ripped them to ensure they weren't used after being on the dirty floor. I will definately return. I like the Ace Pineapple Cider, the pork and brisket and will try some other things. I'll avoid the so-called horseradish sauce and the macaroni salad and I would advise the same of you.

Outstanding service last night with Ashley slinging us some great brews. We will be going back again tonight. The pretzels and chicken strips are delicious and even better with a couple of beers to wash it all down.

Beer is so so, food was ok. Service was beyond bad, Jasmin the bartender better not quit her day job, clueless on what good service is. Disappointed.

  • Todd E.

Good restaurant, really good food. The old town brewery motif is about half way there. (i.e. exposed brick for walls would've been better choice) but over all it's hip enough for a date. I'm not a beer drinker, so can't comment on that.

  • Alicia F.

Service was spot on ... Not hovering but made sure we were not lacking in anything. Regretfully forgot the young man's name but extremely courteous Food was first rate. We all had something different from the BLT to the sausage sandwich they were all flavorful. I would knock off a minuscule from the 5 stars because the BLT was not in brioche although the menu indicates. Atmosphere is nice. Highly recommend.

We just left the brewery and it was, in my experience, not in keeping with the other reviews. Granted, I'm not from the area, so it may be comparably delicious when compared to other local joints. The beer itself wss tasty, I had a pint of the blonde and tasted the winter ale-- which might be delicious with cookies to counter the bitter finish. Never the less, our service left much to be desired (drinks were slow in coming out, food was even slower, and there were relatively few diners for the four servers and two people behind the bar). The food was pretty good, had the service been better the food would have been more easily excusable (dry pulled pork, sandwiches not served with any condiments, the "wrecker" was served cold) but combined with a server who came by our table so few times I had to get up three times, once for another place setting, then for ketchup, and again for barbecue sauce. It was just kind of silly, especially when I later looked back to see four servers chatting... as the very helpful (and very busy) bartender ran som bbq sauce out to us.

Passing through on our way back to CA, we stopped to check out this brewery (cool names draw me in, I can't lie). The floorplan was open and spacious, with lots of seating both inside and out back. For me, the best part of the meal was the house-made potato chips. The food was decent. Pricing was about to be expected for this type of eatery, though it seemed high for the area.

Went with guests for an afternoon beer. Found great choices of beer to sample. atmosphere was nice. Did not eat here but looked at the various menu items. Finding a waitress this day was difficult so left without ordering another beer or food. May try again at another time.

Stopped here for lunch on a trip to San Diego. Hurray! There's a good reason to stop in Yuma now. I had a flight including their three beers currently available. Spring Bock. 3:10 Brown and Straight to Ale. All good, malty beers. Their guest beer list is awesome too. The food was fantastic. I had the Wrecker. Sausage, brisket and pulled pork with cole slaw. My wife had ice cream for dessert and she said it was excellent. The music was right off my playlist and the staff was friendly.

PHB has gone out of its way to become one of the premiere eating and drinking stops in Yuma. Whether you are driving to San diego on the 8, or a winter visitor or someone who calls Yuma their home, you can not find a better place for beer and great food. The owners have done a great job in providing interesting, unusual and delicious beers to match with any of their foods. Much of the meat is smoked on site and presented with flair and panache. While the Pootine (sp?) is a little heavy for my tastes, the meats, salads or appetizers will delight even the most picky eaters. Highly recommended.

In town on business and went to check out Prison Hill Brewery, it was not a good experience. The place was not even close to full and yet our waitress was slower than slower, to the point where the bartender came to our table twice and was very good. The beer was not good, Prison Hill pale ale was horrid, waitress asked me what I thought and I told her it was horrible and she thought I was joking but after she figured out I was serious she then told me it is because it's unfiltered and I don't have a taste for it. I have been all over the country and go to brew pubs any chance I get, I know good beer when I taste it and this was not it. The food was ok but I will never come back. I had 5 other guys with me and we were all in agreement. Great concept but if this poor service, horrid beer continues this place will close. BTW- went across the street to the Pint House and had great beer and fantastic service, (I was told the same owners own both).

Ok so I'm only giving facts here! I'm hoping they improve because I love the concept, but the execution sucks!! We sat down to order at 12:45 (my group had already been waiting 10 min I was late) we ordered beers. Beers took forever to come out, fine no biggie. We ordered the food sounds amazing I ordered the shank burger (stuffed burger with cheese and fried avocado how could you go wrong? It did) food took fooooorever to come out, our server kept forgetting our beers, once the food came out we had no silverware, now the food...I tasted everyone's meal and every single meal was bland!!! My burger was supposed to be medium well and it was well done but we later discovered out meals were switched so we just traded, the fries are good but needed salt, I tried the chicken and waffles and the waffle was hard and chicken was flavorless BUT it was tender!, the spring rolls were disgusting sad chopped veggies, the tri tip sandwich was cold dry and flavorless, the BBQ tastes like ketchup, the only good thing was the poutin but even that was eh and the beers were good. We finished out meals by 2:00 then just waited for our bills for a while. Overall I'm giving it a chance to adjust since they just recently opened and they are owned by pint house so it SHOULD be good! Just add some salt and spices and it should be good to go! And train your servers better! Fingers crossed it works out, I hate to see anything go out if business here!

Stopped in on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving on our way to Phoenix. Food came out quickly and our waitress was attentive. Husband was dying to try a beer but was driving so no go. I had a chardonnay and the pour was very decent. We split the pulled pork sandwich with their fries/chips. Awesome! Pulled pork was tender and had a great flavor. We got the coleslaw on the side instead of on the sandwich. It had a nice vinegar kick I to it. The fries and chips were the bomb. Nice to try somewhere different than fast food while on the road.. It's located in their downtown district which was really cute.

I have gone twice and the service was good but the food is bland. Their smoked meats taste like they have a surplus of liquid smoke that they need to use up. Their homemade chips were chewy. Too much time in the deep fryer. Their hamburgers are dry and lack flavor. Two reason they are receiving 3 stars and not 1 is that their fries are good and my service had been good.

We sat at the bar as there was pretty of room and it was easier to read the beer menu on the walk. Jolene was the bartender & server and she made some excellent meal recommendations. I selected a salad for a meal that was tasty, but the lettuce was warmish instead of cold as I would expect. My brother enjoyed a burger that was very tasty, but the distribution of cheese and bacon in the burger was very inconsistent. The beer and entree selections were very nice. I am leaving looking forward to returning to try/enjoy other selections in the future.

Yelp...once again u have done right by us! Awesome place with hilarious name for their food! The beers are deefrigginlish & as a travel channel junkie that I am ... I had to try the poutin after seeing it! Now I definitely need to head up to Canada to try the real deal because Prison Hill's made a great impression!

Prison Hill Brewing Company exceed all of my expectations. I wanted to stop at Prison Hill Brewing on our way to San Diego for the July Fourth weekend. I saw them on a beer map. Yuma has a brewery? Yuma has a downtown? I wanted to check it out. I wasn't expecting much, just a place to have lunch and try a few new beers. Turns out, the brewery has a great feel to it. It is well decorated with big tables and lots of room at the bar. It is trendy and a bit industrial. There is even beer related art. More importantly, the beer is awesome. Everything we tried we liked. The hefeweizen was super good. We bought two growlers of beer to take with us to San Diego, the hefeweizen and the Straight to Ale. The food was also really good. The pretzels were the best I have had in a long time. We split a shredded beef sandwich. Even the coleslaw and homemade chips were way above average. The menu has clever names for the sandwiches and burgers. Somebody had fun with this. Two examples: What's your Poblano man? and Chain Link Sausage. I won't drive through Yuma again without stoping for some Prison Hill beer to take home. I have been recommending this brewery to friends. I was surprised that one of my friends, a beer aficionado, had already been there. He really liked the beer too. Next time you are in Yuma, take the extra five minutes it takes to get off the highway and away from all of the chains and truck stops. Find downtown Yuma, and enjoy the Prison Hill Brewing Company.

Let me start by saying we would go back, but we would order something else. We had the poutine appetizer. It was really rich, we probably could've just had this and a salad and been full. We split the plate of the two meat meal which was a $2 surcharge, fine. They completely split the plate and you each get your own sides and half the meat portion. Such a good deal! Meat was way over cooked, and came out luke warm. We were sitting under the fan (it was 104*) so half way through the meal it was completely cold. I can eat cold food at someone's house who doesn't know how to cook. Then I wouldn't be paying $14 for it... The local beer - it was good. We had the brown nut ale (tastes like a watery stout), the El Chapo (our fave - very flavorful, hoppy, and less alcohol than the stiff sentence), and the Stiff Sentence. If you stop by definitely try it. Like I said, we will be back, we will just order something else. Probably the fried avocado appetizer and a salad or a burger. Every burger that came out looked damn good!

For limited options in Yuma, Prison Hill Brewing does alright and I'm going to tell you why. First of all, it's probably one of the best as well as coolest brewpubs in Yuma. Being from San Diego, that might not be saying much but as a San Diegan looking for a craft beer refuge within the confines of the Yuma city limits, it definitely means something. Now I'll admit, I'm not the biggest fan of their in house brews but as previously mentioned, I'm from San Diego and with over 100 breweries to choose from, I've developed some pretty unique tastes. With that being said, I did enjoy their Hefenweizen the most but I expected more hops out of their IPA, a little less sweetness out of their Scotch ale and regardless of whether the blonde was good, I'm just not a fan of blondes. However, they do make up for this with a nice craft beer selection on tap such as Alpine(Nelson), Stone(Points Unknown, Hi-Fi & Low-Fi Mixtape) and a few others at the time which escape my memory. With flights of 4 tasters(far more generous tasters than I'm used to in SD) for $8 and affordable pints, you still have some pretty decent options. Another area in which they kill it is food options. They make some pretty darn good burgers and everything seems to be of very generous proportions. Our table shared the Prison Hill Pretzels appetizer, a sandwich (I forget which but it was huge and I'll probably get it next time) and my brother and I got the Shank Burger ($13) which is an 8 ounce mozzarella and bacon stuffed burger with a choice of a side. I got the baked beans and he sidewinder fries, bother were excellent options I had already eaten a massive sandwich beforehand but still had no problem finishing the burger and beans...and pretzel appetizers because everything was very good. Admittedly, not the cheapest bites in town but I'd definitely put it over most places you can go and snag some quality drinks and food. In addition to quality food and beer options, Prison Hill has plenty of indoor seating as well as some nice outdoor patio seating and a great atmosphere overall. The service we experienced was very good and ultimately provided for a good evening out. When I'm visiting Yuma again (and somebody else is driving) I'd seriously place this on the top of my list of places to visit.

I Had the grilled chicken sandwich for lunch. Server suggested making it the fried chicken breast and adding avocado. Great suggestions and I also added bacon. Great salty and crunchy bite. Slaw was also good and homemade. And the chips they serve it with are fantastic. The four beers on tap are ok. They seem a tad flat but still have great flavor. It's nice to have a brewery in a town. I will continue to check in on their beer progress.

Prison Hill brewing co is definitely a solid restaurant that I will be putting into my regular rotation whenever I visit Yuma. The beer selection is diverse and the home brewed stuff is excellent. I'm not normally a fan of Hefeweisens, but theirs was phenomenal. For an appetizer I ordered the fried avocado which was by far the best part of the meal. For dinner I had the fried chicken and waffles which came with a bourbon based maple syrup. I'd never had chicken and waffles before so this was kind of an experiment for me, and I was pretty happy with it. The syrup was the best part of the dish. In addition to being a good spot for dinner, this is also a good place to just hang out at the bar after work. I'm not a fan of going to the hotel bar every night, so this is a good substitute that's within walking distance of the hotel. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about their beers. I'm looking forward to returning here during my next trip to Yuma.

Driving down to Nogales, AZ and stopped in Yuma to gas up (Chevron price 2.89$ gallon) it's 114 degrees in Yuma! Stopped to eat n have a drink at this place and I have to say I will come back. Centrally located in downtown Their fried avocado is perfectly paired with the Ballast Point Habanero Sculpin!!! Their burgers are awesome too.

On the recommendation of some random guy in the parking lot across the street we stopped in here for lunch. Great atmosphere and guessing a great spot to stop if you are a beer fanatic. Food on the other hand just middle of the road based on my samplings.... Root beer float over priced and lifeless. Missing the whip cream and cherry from the description. Meat combo plate (2 of us each had with different options) Brisket- over cooked, tasted left over, zero smoke flavor Tri tip- I didn't sample but again looked over cooked and dry. Sausage- amazing...order that Turkey - dry yet surprisingly tasty Slaw- a good choice but nothing exciting. Beans - see coleslaw Seasonal veggies - delicious, fresh, crisp and seasoned perfectly. Perhaps you'll have a better experience, I wouldn't avoid based on mine...just avoid the beef

Beers are delicious! Very nice place... Didn't think Yuma had a brewery so I was really impressed with this place. Highly recommend the wrecker, second visit was not as delicious(tri tip and brisket was dry) as first time but still will return as sausage and pulled pork is amazing!

Update: downgrading my 4* to 3* because of the ambiance factor. Several months after this spot opened and the lights in there are still insanely bright. DIM THE LIGHTS and you will probably have more people come in and actually stay for a while. It's so damn bright I can't even watch the game on the TVs without getting blinded or a glare. No bueno. And to make matters worse, the staff seems to agree with customers who are asking to get the lights dimmed, yet WHY is nothing done. Newsflash: customers are what keeps you in business, listen to what they have to say. Every time I'm here I feel like I'm at Costco instead of at a BAR. So many people I know agree with me. There's no ambiance. Oh...and the food is pretty mediocre. ---------- Why the low reviews???? Great beer, cool staff and awesome music! My only complaint is the lights are too bright. Overall this spot is not something I thought I'd find in Yuma! Overall, a pretty neat place. I ordered the crostinis which were not all that great, maybe I'll try something else next time. All in all though, this place gets 4 out of 5 from me

Really really cool place! There is a huge interior and really classy fixtures and decor. There is space for large groups and a bar for singles. The food is absolutely amazing and there is literally something for everyone. The staff is excellent and we were able to sit outside on the front patio with our dog. There is also a back patio too. There is a really good beer that they do too with some raspberry notes. The sell it to go in growlers if you want. Again, the food is amazing and this seems to be the best place in Yuma. It is a must if you are hungry for lunch and they also do events and tastings.

Everything is good here, beer, Staff and food exceeded our expectations. We actually went next door first to "Da Boyz" and was ignored by 3 employees and I even asked/begged to be seated and I was ignored.

The last time I was here, they had Scupin and ruination on tap, the beer selection now is terrible, no decent IPA. The pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw was a great the last time, this time the bun was soggy and the pork was dry. Must be a change in owners, not sure....was not pleased and Will not go back. Rather go to DaBoyz.

My wife and I are big craft beer fans from Oregon. In town visiting family and stopped by for lunch. The employees were some of the best hosts we have had in a long time. Our waitress was great. Ordered their burgers which were top notch. Food was prepared as ordered and delicious. The Beer: I like the fact that they had other craft beers from around neighboring states. I came in to sample Prison Hill beer. The Whoop Ass Winter Ale was absolutely great. Had a nice taste of nutmeg with medium hops. Great beer. Came back the next day to fill my growler. This made our visit outstanding. Chris who brews the beer took time to hang out with us and tell us how the brewery got started along with his history in craft beer. We have visited many craft breweries from Oregon, California, Nevada, Washington and now Arizona. This brewery is above the rest. Great beer, employees and food. Highly recommend

A fantastic place to hang out with a cold craft beer and delicious food! The brews are delicious, and there is always a variety to choose from. No matter what mood your taste buds are in, odds are you'll find just the perfect ale. The food is excellent, and named appropriately to match the prison theme. My personal favorites include "The Shank" (burger), and "The Snitch" (pulled pork sandwich). Try the sidewinder fries...yum!!

This place is absolutely great! Stopped in last night for dinner while traveling for work and liked it so much, I'm back today for lunch! The staff was very friendly and even helped me decide on my order. As someone who travels for work, I truly appreciate when staff/owners take time to chat and that's exactly what I found here at Prison Hill. I'd highly recommend!

Nice cold beer and really good fries. It was a drinking night for me so i didn't eat a whole lot but the smell coming from the kitchen was amazing. My husband loved his meat entree and sides. YUM. Great place with a cool vibe.

Huge bar, with some great product. Nice to see a brew pub that not only sells its own stuff, but promotes other local products. We didn't eat there, having just filled up at Da Boys before heading over just to see about their wares. The food seemed to be getting appreciated at least... We wound up trying a few different options before leaving with a growler of pineapple cider (which is a real thing)... Their raspberry stout was excellent, but didn't strike us as an ideal "guzzling by the pool" libation.

Swung by here about a month ago while on a business trip to Yuma and was pleasantly surprised! Easy to get to, cute location in the old downtown area, easy parking, and an impressive beer selection! Sometimes when you go to a "brewery" they may have 3 beers, they're outsourced with the restaurant's label slapped on, and they're all out right now. Not here! Great selection (had the IPA) and no running dry. I wasn't quite as impressed with my food - had the BBQ sandwich - but I think it was just a bad cut of meat. If I came back by Yuma, I would definitely come back here... I just maybe wouldn't order the BBQ sandwich!

We stoped here on our way though town and it was a wonderful treat. The prices are reasonable and the beer is fantastic. We both had a flight of beer, and each loved different ones (kiwi for me!). We had a sandwich and salad, which we awesome. Fresh ingredients, even non-iceburg lettecue. After we sat down we noticed they had a patio in the back. It would be a lovely place for a happy hour. Parking is ample in the lots behind main street.

New brewery in town. The potential is huge! Love the open floor plan concept, GREAT selection of beer. Bartender was helpful and attentive. We didn't have food but the menu looked promising! We really loved the Sexy Beast coffee stout, Mudshark Vanilla Carmel porter and my fiance (who is an avid bud light drinker) loved the Barrio Rojo! We will definitely be back! Four months later we made it back to try the food. Did not disappoint at all! I had the fish n chips, and the tilapia fillets were HUGE. The spicy tartar and coleslaw were the perfect pairing. We also had the Chipotle Shredder which was delicious. The macaroni salad and the house fries were the bomb! We seriously loved everything on our plates and can't wait to try something new next time. (See pics). I know I mentioned the LOML is a bud light drinker so we tried Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy and it was the perfect beverage! We will be looking for this in cans or bottles for sure!! Our new favorite in Yuma!

Found this place on our most recent visit to Yuma, liked it so much we went back again! Danielle was our server the first time, and was very good at making suggestions. The burger is amazing! We sat the bar the second time with Mike, the bartender, who was genuinely warm and friendly. Great food, great beer, awesome service!

Had to be in Yuma for dental work - spent the week in Prison - Prison Hill Brewery! It was so good, we went for happy hour every night for 5 days on the trot, and ate there several times. Really enjoyed the salad with the Yard Bird, the burger and Poutine! Grilled corn appetizer was also yummy. Good selection of their own beers plus plenty of guest brews to make it a "must visit" when in Yuma. Bartenders are also friendly and made us feel right at home.

Wow! Fantastic BBQ in downtown Yuma! I got the pulled pork and tri-tip. Phenomenal food, cool atmosphere and our server, Stacey, was very friendly and attentive, making great suggestions for food. I will definitely be back.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. We just moved to Yuma and went to prison hill our first night in town. Food was awesome. Very good and out of the ordinary pub food. The beer was awesome. They had 20ish beers on tap and about half were guest taps. Good prices on everything. Very casual atmosphere but a little loud. Our server, Edith (?), was super friendly and helpful as well.
