Food is sooooo good it's unreal, however our waitress seemed to dodge us and was extremely slow with everything. But regardless the food is so good it's worth it.

Das is gud ya!!!! I was so surprised how authentic and comforting the food was!!! My mouth drools with the thought of all the yumminess going on in here! It is just like the motherland itself! There is plenty of parking out front or on the side street. As soon as you enter you feel like your in a whole other country! This place has authenticity down to the furniture inside. Sitting at the square bench tables made me feel right at home. The customer service was excellent as we were greeted by the owner himself as soon as we entered and from beginning until the end the waitress was super! Bratwurst, Schnitzel, and Black Forest Cake Oh my! The menu is full of all the traditional meals and you don't want to choose just one item! I like how you can do the 1/2 or full portions because trust me with 1/2 I was almost walking out of there like a roley poley lol! I ordered the Jager Schnitzel with potatoes and cucumber salad. My eyes close and one bite turned into the plate being completely empty!!! Everything was fresh and a masterpiece of perfection yumminess! After my main meal I could not resist the German Cheesecake that was new to the restaurant. They wanted my opinion and these were my words: "So creamy and rich I have never had such a delight" I can't wait to go back here again and am even willing to make a short road trip every year from Cali to AZ just to comfort my tummy from time to time. This place is open seasonly (6 months out of the year) so before you go make sure to check their establishment hours or you may have a German food Coma for too long haha!

The best German food I've had. Jager spietzel, sauerbrauten, mac and cheese were all good. The pickled red cabbage was delicious. Wish they would relocate to the bay area! Bummer about them being open seasonal only.

Good food and service. Wifey and I enjoyed the Jaeger Schnitzel and it was quite good. By all means opt for the one-half order. This is plenty unless you want some extra to take home. The only disappointment was the potato pancake - it was made with mashed potatoes (from last night?). It lacked the crispness and texture I'm used to.

It is great to have a German restaurant in Yuma. The food is good and the beers are authentic. The inside is very charming. Service has always been good. Today we had only apps and beers. The three sausage app is the perfect way to have a table sample multiple sausages. Add a pretzel and some beers and you have a great outing.

My first time trying German food. I only visited Yuma because I have friends temporarily living there and HAD to try this restaurant. My friend's brother said the food is very authentic. We were disappointed that the sandwiches are only offered until 4pm and we literally came at 4:05pm and could not order the sandwiches :(. However, we came back the next day at noon :). We all ordered the bratwurst with kraut and were very satisfied! Best bratwurst I've had and the "Bavarian Stef" mustard (the dark one) is SO good.. kind of sweet. We also ordered an apple strudel because they were 1/2 off that morning and I thought it was average. Yummy flaky crust but the apple filling wasn't that special. My friends also ordered a side of potato pancake (you only get one..) and the spatzle (big portion and very unique but kind of tiring by itself after a while). I think the prices are kind of expensive but maybe not for this type of cuisine. I highly recommend this restaurant to those visiting Yuma..wonderful and unique experience!

Who knew there was great German food in the midst of Yuma? On our way back from San Diego, we stopped here for lunch and left quite full! During holiday season, this restaurant is hard to miss! There is a Christmas explosion of electronically moving Santa, an inflatable Harley-ridin' Santa on the roof with his crew, and cheerful garlands lining the patio. Enter the restaurant and you'll be transported to the charming German grandmother's house you never knew about until now. Tables are cozy, and the walls are decorated with hand painted murals. We spent some time looking through the menu before deciding on the currywurst and a sausage platter. The currywurst was excellent. It had the perfect amount of curry with sauce, and the sausage was served in slices on a little dish so you could place it on the soft roll that accompanied it. The sausage itself had a flavorful mix of spices and seasoning. The sausage platter was equally good, and the German potato salad side was excellent. They were offering 50% off items in their dessert case when we were here, so who was I to pass up a good bargain? I got the bienenstich. It was more of a bread-like dessert, not too sweet, which I appreciated, with a subtle taste of honey running through the cake. Service was great, and sometimes they will take pictures of patrons here to post on their Facebook page. You just might see yourself in one of their albums!

We came here before and the beer they have on tap is worth coming back for. The house sausage was great. On the other hand I was disappointed with the Rueben sandwich, it was the thinest sandwich I have eaten in a while. Go to the European deli for a ruben. Today we sampled the sauerbraten and two of the snitzels (zigneuner and the cordon bleu). With spaetzle,, red cabbage. It was all good. The sauerbraten was so tender you could cut it with a fork and the sauce was delicious. The spatzle are like crispy butter balls.

Schnitzel, spatzle, strudel, and Spaten, what more could you ask for?! DBH is a hidden gem in Yuma. DBH is only open in the winter, but it's worth heading to when it's open. DBH is a genuine German restaurant with all the classic dishes, desserts, and beers. The food is fantastic, the service is great (and dressed in traditional German garb), and the restaurant is lovely. Both my grandmothers cook traditional German foods like sauerbraten and rouladen, and the same dishes at DBH are just as good. Head over, have a liter of beer and a delicious meal. Save room for the strudel though!

Das Bratwurst is a cool little eatery in old town Yuma that oozes Bavarian charm, from the authentic German menu, the fun decor, the great beer selection, the extensive stein collection, all the way down to the uniform that the beer maiden/waitress wears. I came in on a recent drive back home from San Diego, guided by yelp reviews (thank you!!). It was a bit early in the day to partake of their adult beverages (beer, beer, and Jager shots!) and I had to drive the rest of the way home, so I stuck with water. I'll be back... I was pretty hungry, so I went with the house specialty - the sauerbraten, served with red cabbage and spatzle. Oh, and I added a side of German potato salad (warm, of course - though you do have the option of going chilled). The sauerbraten was wonderful - two thick slices of tender pot roast with a generous pool of gravy. The beef fell apart easily and was very flavorful. The spatzle was thick and hearty with a nice, firm texture. The flavors were balanced by the sweetness and acidity of the red cabbage. The potato salad was good - warm and authentic - no complaints. TIP: They do offer half-portions. I probably should have done that. The service was exceedingly friendly. They take pictures of their customers, but instead to tacking them to a wall, they post them on their Facebook page. Cool! If you ever find yourself in Yuma, and are in the mood for some hearty German comfort food (and beer!), then you can't go wrong with Das Bratwust Haus! I can't wait to go back!

I've tried German restaurants anywhere I can find them, and this one lived up to be one of the best I've sampled. What surprised me was finding this gem in the middle of Yuma, but I guess good food (even German) doesn't know boundaries! I started my meal with a pretzel. Standard, nothing too fancy, but honest and good. It had a light brushing of butter, which added a subtle but pleasant element next to the sharply salty crunch. Crust: crunchy; dough: soft and velvety; prognosis: very good. The jaegerschnitzel was quite delicious, though I did miss the bacon from my favorite joint back in Maryland. Still, for a simple mushroom, butter, and cream sauce, it was outstanding. The cutlet was nicely breaded, not greasy at all, perfectly cooked (near fork tender), and still hot and crispy when it came out to the table. The sides were equally delicious. I had the spaetzle and warm potato salad. The former was soft, but not mushy, and very buttery. Perfectly made, perfectly cooked. The latter was really just potatoes with a light vinegar dressing. Nothing really beyond that, but still good. Not really hot, or even very warm, but still delicious. I couldn't find room for dessert, but people seem to rave about them here. I'd suggest going with someone, splitting an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert. Believe me, the portions are huge. There is a split plate fee, but you'll save money still. Of course, if you're like me, you'll want to try a little bit of everything, so use your best judgment. Maybe try one of each course, and take the leftovers home. :) Some have stated that the price is a little steep. First off, that depends on what you order, but I didn't see a single entree over $20. That's excellent pricing for a German place, believe me! Second, my meal included an appetizer, an entree (huge!), and a half-liter of beer. Pre-tip, but post-tax, less than $30. Honestly, that's a very good deal for the quantity and quality of food and beverage you are receiving. Which reminds me, don't forget the bier! They have a nice selection of your standard German brews, including several from Weihenstephaner and Spaten. And even served in a stein to keep the beer cold! Lovely! And, before I forget... PROST!

We apologize for the much delayed review! We had a recommendation for a really good Bavarian restaurant in Yuma, as odd as that may seem. We weren't sure we were going to be able to stop there, since it was high noon and we were traveling with a dog. But, as it turns out, Das Brathaus is the #1 dog friendly restaurant in Yuma. The dog-friendly seating area is outside in front of the restaurant. Even though it was 95 degrees out, it was quite comfortable since the area is shaded and gets a nice breeze. We knew we were in a great place when one of the first things they did was to bring our dog a bowl of ice (!) water. Every time something came out for us (drinks, entrees, dessert), they brought a milk bone for our dog. My partner had a knockwurst sandwich and couldn't say enough good things about it. But what really stood out for him was the sauerkraut (he is of Czech heritage); he said it was just like his Mom used to make! My son ordered the schnitzel fingers from the kid's menu - other than being cut into smaller pieces (i.e., fingers) - it was indistinguishable from pork schnitzel that you would expect to get at a good restaurant in Germany. (They also have veal as well as pork schnitzel on the adult menu). I am a vegetarian and even I was delighted with the choices and how tasty the food was.

No one *goes* to Yuma. It is simply a byway from one place to another. That being said, we weren't expecting to find anything to eat aside from an antique McDonald's burger. This was a great surprise. It's a little slice of Germany in the southwestern Arizona. Walk inside and you feel like you just entered your great-grandma's house. Tchotchkes everywhere and a display case full of desserts. Although I felt it was a bit overpriced, the food was delicious. The pretzel is buttery salty goodness. My brat was juicy and perfectly cooked inside a nifty oyster-style bun. For dessert, I had the "bee sting cake" which I described to my companion as a "prehistoric donut." It was like nothing I've ever had before and it was fabulous.

  • Stephen F.

The bratwurst were great, but otherwise a big disappointment. The hot potato salad was cold and bland, the sauerkraut was average, the schnitzel cordon blu was dry, the potato pancake was greasy. It was very expensive. The plate didn't even look appealing. There is no way this is the highest rated restaurant in Yuma. The Firehouse Sub was 100 times better!

Came in on a Friday during the lunch hour and it was empty. (I wasn't sure if that was a sign or not.) Perhaps this place is better suited for dinner? I ordered the "RIESEN SCHNITZEL BRÖTCHEN," which came straight out of the fryer! The pork cutlet was pounded thin and it kind of reminded me Japanese tonkatsu! What surprised me most about this place was the curry ketchup and 2 kinds of mustards. Try both mustards. One was more sweet and the other had a subtle kick. The curry ketchup had the perfect blend of your tomato sauce and spices. Why isn't this place 5 stars? Well, it's due the price. Yeah, a little steep for lunch. We had two meals, shared a dessert, and just had waters and the grand total with tax and tip came to $35. A little pricey for a lunch stop between San Diego and Yuma.

Had a serious adventure today! Drove an hour to eat here. This place was so cool! Played German music, decorated with steins and cuckoo clocks, waitress in German outfit. Food was delicious! Our waitress Laura (who looks just like Jamie Presley) knew the menu, food & ingredients like you wouldn't believe! I'll definitely be back!

Visited on 21 October 14 with some co workers to celebrate. Very good choice. I grew up in a very German family eating home cooked German food made from scratch. Don't tell grandma, but this place might just make better food than her. I ordered roulade, red cabbage and cucumber salad and it was excellent. Seasoning was perfect, everything was the right texture and tasted very good. Only reason for 4 stars was portion - I thought small for the price. Restaurant itself was full of German souvenirs, beer steins and a desert case to do die for. Would absolutely go back.

Talk about service, these guys are awesome! We rushed over there at around 8:45 one night when they were only open until 9. We were the last customers there but they were friendly and accommodating and didn't make us feel bad. We were staying in Yuma for the holidays and this was the highlight restaurant of the entire trip! I would definitely go back the next time I go to Yuma, and if I lived in that town, I would definitely be a patron and a member of their Stein Club!

Maybe it was because we were famished after a long road trip drive and this was like an oasis to us. . .but I was very impressed. I've been to quite a few German restaurants and I just loved the food here. Everything was on point. . .the sausages, kraut, warm potato salad, mustard. . .it all worked in harmony. We had a cheese appetizer in a crock called obatzda. It came with a perfectly executed pretzel and was like sex in my mouth. This was my first time trying Semmelknodel as well. The waitress recommended having it with mushroom gravy and she was right about that! Add a giant German beer in decorative stein and I was in heaven. My only minor complaint was there was too much oil/butter on the spatzle, but that is kinda like complaining about too much poontang at an orgy. Once you've gone that far into the caloric overload, what's a little more butter? I also appreciated the kind service. We came in an half hour before it closed and that is a jerk move to do, since the restaurant was not crowded at the time. But we were famished and it looked so good. And they weren't jackasses about rushing us or making us feel unwelcome, like some places might. They treated us road weary travelers in a welcoming way, so we made sure to not hang around too long so they weren't waiting too long to close up and gave a big tip. If you can't tell, I'm raving about this place. I don't know how I would feel if it was in a more foodie-centric city. But for being in Yuma? It is clearly the best choice in town.

Stopped in on our way home from vacation. We ordered the brat, schnitzel and Mac and Cheese for the kids. The food was awesome, place was clean, the strudel was sublime. Only thing keeping me from giving a 5 star review of was when I received the bill. Food was good, but $70 for 3 sandwiches, some sides, 2 desserts and 1 beer. We were also charged $2 for the extra plate I ordered for my 2 year old.

I got the cordon Bleu and it was amazing! I couldn't help to devour it with my sides of cucumber salad and warm potato salad. If you haven't been here you surely are missing out on some very good local German food. The picture of the meal I received was one out of the 10 times here that sucked. I will give them another chance to see if it's better.

Ist das nicht ein German restaurant? Ja, das ist ein German restaurant! O, der schoene, o, der schoene Schnitzelbank. I've never really understood what a Schnitzelbank is, or why the Animaniacs would call it beautiful, but, in my mind's eye, I imagine it's a place like Das Bratwurst Haus where they hoard the tasty schnitzel. We stopped here in Yuma on our way to a wedding near Phoenix. Upon entering the place, we noticed the copious displays of steins for BIER!!! and we were greeted by the serving fraulein wearing an attempt at ethnic costume. (Ist das nicht ein lot of cleavage? Ja, das ein lot of cleavage!) When we figured out what we wanted, I tried to order the dishes with the proper German pronunciation, but the fraulein responded with, "I don't actually speak German," but her eyes said, "look, I just work here." So I ordered my "jay-gurr schnitzell" like a red-blooded American with our delightful way of pronouncing foreign words. Was it tasty? Ja, it was tasty! The pork was tender and so much better than the version of the same dish I had relatively recently eaten in China. (Someday I may actually have German food in Germany.) And the mushroom sauce was really tasty. I felt like a real (German) man eating his "hunter" schnitzel (that's what jaeger means) prior to killing Bambi's mom. I had ordered spaetzle (German noodle things) and bratkartoffel (fried potatoes) as sides, and the potatoes were actually the star of the show with an amazing seasoning blend, made only better by the selection of mustards and the curry ketchup that was absolutely fabulous. Lastly, the heavy yellow cream on the bienenstich (honey pastry dessert) had a complex, rich, and unique flavor that's hard to describe other than to say honey is involved. Summary: This place is far from the wurst. Get it?

This place is a MUST STOP IN AND EAT/DRINK kinda of place! What a great little gem we found in Yuma AZ of all places! The Das Bratwurst Haus is a fantastic place to get Authentic German food that is DELISH! Restaurant~. This place is easy to find, in the downtown area, walking distance from the Hilton Garden Inn. When you walk in through their front door you can smell the aroma of their German food cooking~~nom, nom, nom! The decor is nicely done, ala-German. They have these neat little German smokers, ornaments and steins for sale near the front. Ask them to demo one of their wooden smokers! They are awesome hand crafted incentive burner wooden people! Very cool! Food~ everything is excellent! They have all kinds of Schnitzels, Rouladen, Sauerbraten and my fave their German Grilled Combo with Your choice of two: Has Brat, Knockwurst, Weisswurst, or Oktoberfest Brat with a side to German potato salad and sauerkraut. You can order extra sausage, but this plate is huge and you must leave some room for desert!! They have both domestic and German beers. Ask about their stein club! Desert~ Their Black Forrest came is Amazing but I prefer their Karrotten Kuchen cake is a four layer carrot cake with pineapples, nuts and a cream cheese filling. Oh my! Das ist eine wunderbare authentische Deutsch restaurant! Es ist bei weitem eines der besten Restaurants Deutsch ive in einer sehr lange Zeit gewesen. Ich hoffe, dass Sie vorbei und sie auszuprobieren. I'm looking forward to going back very soon! I hope to see you there.

Just stepped out of this place. I have to say it is the most unwelcoming place me and my family have been to. We decided to eat a nice german meal on our way to our town and found about this place. We walked in and seem like little nice place . We have two boys. They are usually pretty good in public places and restaurant but our youngest one was having a hard time and crying pretty much. We were trying to calm him down and not even five minutes had passed when a ver rude lady, maybe the owner came to tell us we had to DO SOMETHING ABOOUT THAT KID, meaning out crying son. We were the only customers in the place. My wife and i couldn't believe the way we were being treated, we Left immediately after that. If you wish to be in a place were you are well treated DONT EAT HERE

  • Dan N.

Pricier than expected and their plate-splitting charge keeps that from being much of an option, though the portions are generous. Decor is all-out, entertainment was fun. The kids menu gives palatable-but-different options, which is fun.

Ehhh... That's all I can pretty much say. The food is okay. Not too flavorful. The sides that we tried were pretty bland, except for the cucumber salad and red cabbage....but how can you really screw that up? The potato pancake, German potato salad warm or cold, the spaetzle, were all pretty flavorless although the only herb we could all decipher in every side (except spaetzle) pretty much was dill. Why does every side need dill? The breading for the wiener schnitzel was nothing special and the meat was chewy. For a $19.99 plate, I'm expecting a dish slightly closer to awesome. The owner I'm assuming, balding older male? Not too friendly, welcoming, or happy as a business owner should be since we had a larger party coming in and he had to figure where to seat us. Ummm...ok...maybe I'm expecting too much as a customer. But, the huge saving grace was our amazing server. She was so exceptionally nice and personable it made this 2 star review into a 3. So please thank your employee!

If the chow was a little less dry I'd give another star. Great service and good German beer helped wet the food. The German potato salad had very little moisture. The German correct Don blue was over cooked by at least a few minutes. Nice German shop out front. Better than some but not exactly authentic.

Stopped here on our way to Tucson. Food is excellent! The pretzel was delicious and warm and the ruben had a nice kick to it! The warm potato salad was also a must try. We finished with the Donawelle for dessert and it was a perfect sweetness... We will be back here on our drive back to San Diego for sure. I love the homey feel of this place. I feel like I'm chillin at Gramma's house.

I will be the first to say, I do not like German food. This restaurant was my husband's choice. Needless to say, he loved it. I ordered the potato pancakes and they were okay. They had a good selection of beer. The service was great. The waitress was very attentive and the staff was very friendly. It was a bit pricey for the portions but I will bring my dad when he's in town because he loves German food.

Who knew you had to go to Yuma to get good German food! Clean, friendly and the food was delicious! Had the Jäger Schnitzel, Sauerbraten, and Reibekuchen. Yum! Cucumber salad, Spatzel, and potato salad-can't go wrong! Definitely stop here on your way through.

Great German food. I came here a couple of times last season before they closed for the summer. Great service, everyone is friendly. The restaurant is small and is located in a quiet part of downtown. I like the Sauerbraten which is made with tender beef, vinegar, and red wine. It resembles beef stew and is very tasty. My favorite side items are red cabbage and the potato salad. Get the warm potato salad, it has a bolder taste in my opinion. I also love the Peach Strudel. Oh yeah and the beer, get a stein or two.

Had dinner @ Das Bratwursthaus with my boyfriend just a few weeks ago! I am German so I know the very good original German food! This place is just awesome!!! Thanks to Barbara - who is an amazing chef! She definitely makes the best black forest cake I've ever had - says the girl that grew up in the black forest!!!! Maybe not the fanciest place ever, but definitely worth the drive and the money!! Super friendly staff, clean, no long waiting times even when it's very busy, great beers and a good choice of traditional German dishes! Wanna experience some German fun? Come here on Fridays, cause they have live music every Friday night starting around 6.00pm

On the way back from San Diego I stopped in Yuma to have dinner. I've been meaning to try out Das Bratwurst Haus probably ever since I first saw it on Yelp. Usually I just stop to gas up and go and eat something quick and easy - fast food or even something from Circle K just so I can quickly GTFO of Dodge. Well this is a seasonal restaurant and they're open till 8 pm so it was more a matter of chance that this time I was in Yuma right about standard dinnertime and I figured I'd relax and take my time with dinner this time around. Took the first Yuma offramp and rode on Giss Parkway till I entered the roundabout and saw Madison Avenue. Drove north on Madison and saw the restaurant's sign on the left side of the street. Lots of parking on Madison. Entrance is on the north side of the building. I was welcomed in and shown to an empty table in the Biergarten - just another part of the building that was much less crowded as the main dining area was full of big parties. Waitress was friendly and service was attentive and quick. Had I been staying the night, I would have indulged in the different German beers they offer but since I had a long drive I stuck to iced tea. Also had the Jäger Schnitzel with mushroom gravy and German potato salad as well as German Bread. Food was good - it hit the spot and I was entertained by the cheesy German pop music playing from their speakers as well. They also had touristy German souvenirs for sale but I didn't really linger and take a good look - maybe next time. Will definitely be back again - a worthwhile place to stop and have a meal in Yuma if you are travelling during the cooler months.

My husband and I live about an hour from Yuma and we literally will plan a trip to go eat at this place. I wish they were open year round, but I understand the majority of their business most likely occurs when the snow birds are in town. The food here is very VERY good. Plus, the German bier is amazing! I don't know what it is about German bier that is so much tastier than American beer, but I LOVE it! Do yourself a favor and save room for dessert too! It is so scrumptious! I highly recommend checking this place out. The owners are very nice too and you can tell they really enjoy running the restaurant and sharing their culture.

Das Bratwurst Haus is straight out of Bavaria! If you like authentic German food and beer this is the place to go. I had the Wiener Schnitzel and it was breaded and cooked perfectly. The beer selection is not large, but is right in line with the theme and decor: authentic and delicious. If you drive through Yuma on your way to California or Arizona and really enjoy authentic German food, you HAVE to stop and have a beer and brat. Even though I live in Phoenix, I drive through Yuma quite a bit and if I never go anywhere else in this town again, I will always make a trip to the Brat House! Prost!!

This is my second time back while driving through Yuma. I'm half German, and this place definitely lives up to my expectations every time I eat here. When you walk inside, you feel like you've left Yuma and magically whisked yourself halfway around the world back to Germany. The food here is top notch, they have all your favorite German dishes such as Weiner Schnitzel (and no that's NOT a hog dog place LOL), curry wurst, and of course your traditional bratwurst. They also have amazing side dishes such as spatzel which is one of my favorites - so buttery and delicious. The potato salad is awesome. And then of course there is the beer. Authentic, delicious beers from Weihenstephaner - my favorite is the Vitus - which received a 95 (world class) score from Beer Advocate, very highly regarded in the beer community. For dessert, I had the apfelstrudel ala mode... So yummy!!! The service here is also very friendly, and the owner is very nice, she brings back authentic and unique souvaneers from Germany and sells them there in the restaurant, there is a little gift shop in the front. I highly recommend when you're in Yuma, skip all the freeway-based chains and make a little detour, only minutes off the 8 freeway to come eat here you'll be glad you did!!!

A relatively authentic German restaurant whose staff are consistently rude and unwelcoming. Especially the owners & management. They are doing you a favor by having you in their place of business. No thanks, life is too short.

Amazing German food, great service, and accordion players on some select nights, what else could you ask for? This place is owned by a German couple that is only in town for half of the year but whenever I'm in Yuma and its open I make sure not to miss it. Their jaeger schnitzel is unmatched

We hit this place based on yelp reviews on the way out of Yuma. The reviews do not lie. This place was really good. Everything we got was good. I had the house brat with kraft on a roll. It was one of the best I've had. If you're visiting or live here, this place should be a must visit.

My wife and I were in Yuma for one night, and we fortunately found this extraordinary restaurant. It isn't fancy, but it had that feeling of family-owned authenticity. Two women, one who I expect was the owner, were in the kitchen. It reminded me of having dinner at someone's home. The two servers were very friendly and the food was pretty outstanding. As we left the restaurant and while walking to our car, my wife and I agreed we'd found a real gem in Yuma. Das Bratwurst Haus would be our first choice for dinner if we returned to Yuma.

There is no other place like this in Yuma! Such a great way to enjoy a meal. They have delicious authentic dishes and a nice beer selection. I also like to hit up their food truck when I see them at events.

One star for the desserts and one star for the huge-mungous pix of Neuschwanstein Castle on the back wall. What this restaurant lacks in authenticity and execution, it more than makes up for in price and nerve. But let's start with the good stuff. The black forest cake, the apple strudel, and the pomegranate cheesecake were fresh and delicious. The coffee was typically weak, as it is in Munich, so no surprise there. I ordered a typical Bavarian beergarten staple - the obaztda with a pretzel. This cost $10.00. The "pretzel" was a greasy piece of deep-fried dough shaped into a pretzel but lacking the chewy texture and flavor of an authentic German pretzel. It was also less than half the size of the pretzel I was expecting to get, based on the price. Obatzda is a cold spread that is 70% brie or Camembert cheese and 30% butter blended together with finely chopped onions and seasoned with paprika, salt and pepper. It's delicious and easy to prepare. What I received at Das Bratwurst Haus was a small container of melted greasy goo (cheese?) with what appeared to be caraway seeds swimming in it. It was barely edible. How can you screw up a dish that doesn't even have to be cooked? Our dining companion, who, like us, has many a fond memory of eating her way through Germany on past vacations, also commented on how the food was just okay but certainly not Bavarian. As for the nerve, after you've completed your over-priced farce of a meal, a waitress will come to your table and ask if she can take your picture and post it on Facebook. We have been to this restaurant twice and were asked this at the end of both meals. Kinda tacky. BOTTOM LINE: If you must experience this place, order a dessert and a coffee. If you have no idea what Bavarian food tastes like and you've got money to burn, this might be the place for you. If you've actually been to Munich and have enjoyed the many Bavarian eateries while there, this will be a disappointment.

What a great place to eat if you've ever had German food and if you haven't you outta try it. I suggested this place to my party of 6 when it came time to find a place to eat. I think every plate was clean except one because he didn't like mushrooms. I tried the schnitzel cordon bleu and it was very good. I really wanted the jäger schnitzel, but others tried it and said it was good too. Spatezla or however it's spelled was very good too. Will certainly go back on my next time through or maybe again before I leave town.

If they had one in Tucson, I would be there ALL the time. Who knew that such an amazing restaurant would exist in Yuma. I was searching for a place to eat on my phone when it said this place was nearby. I couldn't wait to try this place. It had been years since I had some good ole German food. It didn't disappoint. The Zigeuner Schnitzel is divine! I only wish the Wurst salat was offered daily. This place is a must to try! Please have a location in Tucson, pretty please.

This is one of the best german food places west of Germany. You MUST eat here. No exceptions. Go! Drink some beer! Sing a song and enjoy yourself! The best brats ever!

Just a heads up for fellow yelpers this place is closed from April until September. But on to the food: Vieners schnitzel was a bit tuff, but good flavor C+ Sour krout A+ Warm German potato salad A+ Brochen A+ Potato pancakes C Bratwurst A Kids (pork) schnitzel were very tender and yummy A+ There was only one waitress for the whole place she was very sweet, but extremely over worked. She had to leave our table twice right in the middle of us ordering to run some food to her other tables. The owner was nice, but he could have helped her as he was not doing a ton during this busy time for her. Over all pretty good, we would defiantly stop there again the next time we are going through Yuma.

This place is a beautiful little gem in Yuma, AZ. The people are very friendly and fun to talk to. The food is absolutely delicious! We had a bratwurst plate that was absolutely delicious and an apple strudel that was divine. They also have live musicians on Saturday that made Das Bratwurst Haus an unforgettable dining experience. This is a necessary stop for everyone.

This is a great place. Wonderful homemade food, great service and you just feel so homie, like a part of a family. We ordered several things of the menu like 3 kinds of sausages, leberkase and deserts: everything was amazing.

Wow I don't even know how to start this review other than WOW! The food was top notch and blew my mind! I was so happy and nostalgic by the pure flavor in the food and the all around atmosphere. I had the House Brat with Fried Potatoes with Caramelized Onions on top with House Mushroom Gravy on the side. There wasn't a part of it I didn't enjoy! We took an order of Schnitzel to go along with the Lemon Cream cake and Black Forest. Both weren't overly sweet and they were very light! I am in love! It is totally worth the 1 hour drive from the desert to get there!

I love this place. Haven't had a bad or mediocre meal in the half dozen visits. Service is good. Watch out for the beer. It definitely isn't 3.2%!!! Never thought I would like German food but this is now a "go to" place especially when we have guests. Give it a try. You won't be sorry

Love the DBH, would love to give a full 5 star review but there are just a few things that need to change before I can justify 5 stars. The food has never disappointed me. The Schnitzels are outstanding, the sides are delicious and it's all really genuinely homemade German food. They've got the best selection of German beer in the area and are the only place I've found that I can get a real Octoberfest....on tap no less! The service is always outstanding. Very friendly staff that makes you feel like you're eating in their home. But two big things keep me from being able to eat here more often. First they close down for the summer. I know Yuma summers are tough and heavy German fare isn't necessarily what people are looking for the mercury is over the 110 mark. But I still crave it in the summer and wish they could find a way to stay open year round. Second, and the main reason I don't get to enjoy them more often - they seriously need a real lunch menu. $6 for a brat on a roll just isn't competitive for lunch. And $10 a plate for a 1/2 plate isn't much of a lunch option either. Our lunch today for two of us with 1 small beer and 1 shared desert was pushing $50. And that's just not realistic for lunch. Even going with half plates that would have only saved us $10 which still makes it extremely expensive for lunch. Worth it for dinner...but we don't get to eat dinner out very often and a more affordable lunch would be great. Add a side to that brat at the same price and I'd be back for lunch a LOT more often. One of the waitresses today told us they're hoping they may be able to stay open year round at least for lunches once the new courthouse opens downtime. But without a real lunch menu I just don't see that being realistic. With their current menu they're much more a dinner restaurant than a lunch restaurant in our book so being open for lunch only in the summer still pretty much rules them out in the summer. That being said. It's still great homemade food and I'd rather see them keep the menu/prices they've got and enjoy it as an occasional treat than see them lower the prices and compromise quality to pull it off. They don't cut corners and do charge a fair price. I just really feel they need to do some serious soul searching about their lunch offerings and come up with some more affordable lunch combinations.

Das Bratwurst Haus was an ok experience. Theres open seating all through the restaurant. Once seated we had this cute mexican girl come up to us dressed in a outfit that is german in a very american way. I liked it. She was very nice and helpful throughout the meal. We had sausages and jeagerschnitzel, and sampled most of the side dishes (they are all purchased separately) and we liked the food. It wasnt so I'd go here on a regular basis, but as a novelty dinner it was different and very nice. Not too far from what I have had in Germany - so that must be good right?! Food, service, ambience - all nice (we didnt care too much for the octoberfest wurst tho, be ware) When we left a man, who I would think is the owner, shook my hand and said thank you. It felt sincere and honest, and it truly felt like I was supporting a family establishment. That's a plus in my book! ..und das ist nach der Kritiker

I get it. Good food is hard to come by in Yuma. But that doesn't mean you lower your standards. Nope. What you do is, encourage those places to get better. That's why I'm giving these folks 2 stars. And even that's because I'm feeling generous, what with being on vacation and all. The bottom line is we stopped in for lunch while on the road after reading all the positive reviews on Yelp. The place was cute, oompah music was blasting from the speakers, and the staff was friendly enough. But the food? Holy crikey. We paid $18 including tip for a Nathan's hot dog and charred schnitzel, served two cold buns, with a bit of kraut, and two glasses of iced tea that had as much flavour as dishwater. No chips. No nothing else. The same meal at the Costco food court goes for $3 for two. And it's just as good. Even if the food had lived up to the glowing reviews below, we still would have left hungry. We would have tried the interesting beer collection. But $6.99 for a half-liter mug -- sorry, stein -- was a bit rich even for our blood. On the upside, the place is spotlessly clean.

Yuma, AZ is not known for outrageously good food, but it has a bright star in Das Bratwurst Haus. I went there with a group who all happened to be half german. One of our crew lived in Germany for awhile. All of us loved the food. All of us ate every bite on our plate. All of us ordered the Schwartzwalder Kirschtorte for dessert. Divine. If you love german food, have never had german food, or simply enjoy food that tastes good and is well prepared, you will be happy at Das Bratwurst Haus. The Bavarian decorated restaurant is suitable to many occasions, and I could see meeting here with friends being great or going on a date here easily. So very very good!! :)

I came here for lunch and I ordered the smaller sauerbraten plate and it was great! However, be prepared to wait a longer than normal time for your server to fill your drink back up or bring you the check since it gets busy really fast at lunch time.

We stopped in @ Das Bratwurst Haus on a drive between Phx and San Diego after reading such great reviews on Yelp. When we first pulled up we were a little uncertain but we were quickly greeted by the friendly staff. From the friendly staff to the amazing food we were blown away by this gem in Yuma that we found. My husband and I had the sampler plate and our kids had homemade noodles with cheese, which is not on the menu but they'll make for kids. My son (7), who is not a big eater, loved them so much he asked for a second plate. Our sampler plates were full of flavor, potato salad was so good and best kraut and red cabbage I've ever had. We felt like we were at someone's house for a delicious home cooked meal. They had great German beers on tap and the highlight was the homemade dessert. We had apple strudel ala mode, which was amazing! It was refreshing to have something that was cooked from scratch and not full of preservatives, you could taste the care that went into making it. What a wonderful place, that I cannot recommend enough, great for families, or anyone who wants a home cooked meal with layers of flavor. Wonderfully friendly staff as well! Short drive off the freeway, you won't be disappointed, but take note they are closed April 15th -Sept 1st.

Found this little restaurant on Yelp while looking for a lunch spot on a recent trip between Orange County & Tucson. What a surprise... great bier, and friendly service. Had the schnitzel sandwich (huge) and a kartofelpfannkuchen... potato pancake! Would recommend to anyone who appreciates good German homestyle cooking. They are closed on Mondays and only open during the winter season - Sept-April, I believe. Barbara, the owner is from Bamberg and welcomes each guest between duties in the kitchen. If you're from Yuma, or just passing through, you won't regret giving this small, cozy, friendly place a visit!

Great German food, what a find in Yuma. Best variety of German beer, desserts and brats & schnitzel are outstanding. They usually close in the summer so call before you go during the "hot season"

  • M B.

Bad pseudo-German food. The potato pancakes were straight out of a box (including cardboard taste), the Spätzle were reheated in too much grease (instead of fresh) and the meat was tough. And so the owners get the review, too: Allmächt, war des schlecht!

Not very authentic. Schnitzel is very small in comparison to the ones you get all over Bavaria, Germany. Cucumber salad is good. Potato salad did not taste German at all. Kids ordered the german Mac n cheese & didnt like it either. Bland & way too much oil/butter. Could be that they're from a different part of Bavaria than where we lived.? Didn't try any beer or desserts. Good, friendly, knowledgable service from our waitress. But be forewarned: Yelp offers a free soft drink with purchase of a meal when you check in BUT the older gent at check out said it was only during Oktoberfest & thus didn't give us the free soft drink! :-( Not worth going back for us. Guess I was hoping for the real deal.

Awesome authentic German food. Lunch today was the Ruben sandwich. The pastrami was juicy and the kraut was a great accompaniment. I was so excited to see a dunkel on the beer list. When it came out in a glass stein, I was in beer heaven. Service was great, especially when she suggested dessert at half price. The cheesecake was delightful! Great atmosphere. Go enjoy a meal here! Best in YUMA!

We enjoyed several different dishes and enjoyed them all! Especially the sauerbraten with spaetzle. Our server was very efficient and friendly and the owner very cordial. What more could you ask for! And, oh, save tummy room for their German take on tiramisu! No ladyfingers here but a great little dessert!

  • Cody T.

Don't quite understand the high reviews of this place. Ate here for lunch - we all enjoyed our food, but all agreed it was very bland and not memorable. Maybe that's the way German food is supposed to taste? Maybe we should have had more beer? ...in any case, it's a fun change from the usual fare, so maybe that's what all the fuss is about in the first place?

Absolutely my favorite place to eat in Yuma. The food is authentic German food and always home made, even the cakes! They also have imported German beers. They are super friendly and I can't wait to go back there!

Super nice people, and man, they can make some killer German food. Met the owner, she seems really nice and quite proud of her food (for good reason). If I'm ever back in Yuma, I'm coming here first.

Ate here back in Feb 2011 while on a business trip. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn and walked down to try it out. Good thing we walked! The German beers went down smooth, and the food was awesome to boot!

Simply put: DBH features delightful, charming service and delicious food. The prices are reasonable given the high quality of the food, and it far exceeds anything offered by the local chain restaurants in Yuma. While our table was pleased with everything we ordered, the spatzl and the desserts truly were a cut above the rest. A number of unique and equally delicious beer options are available as well. All in all, I highly recommend this place and I know I certainly will be going back.

  • Daniel M.

Very good food!! Been to germany and they certainly do it justice. Really enjoyed the spaetzle (hard to find someone who does it right). Also the jagerschnitzel was delicious as well as the cordon blue schnitzel. My two greivences (which are minor) are that on one ocassion I found the food to be a bit too greasy and finally the price. The prices at this place are a bit high.. I can however understand it since it is quality and the beer is not your run of the mill stuff that you can find at the grocery store. Service is always friendly and very nice. Owner is frequently there and very nice to talk too.

After reading the reviews, we stopped for lunch. The people were very nice but the food was nothing to rave about. The Reuben was small and very American school lunch-ish. The bratwurst sandwich was.just OK with no sides. Wouldn't go back.

One of the best little secrets in Yuma. Try the laugen pretzn with a hefe. It really wakes up the beer.

Authentic German food served by a cute waitress in a traditional German dress, need I say more? Did I mention this is in Yuma? They have great German beers on draft and in bottles. The potato pancakes left a bit to be desired (too thick, if thinner they would crisp all the way through) but the spaetzle as a side dish was good and the schnitzel wiener art (schnitzel made from pork instead of traditional veal) was good. Need to go back and try the bratwurst next time!

My wife is from Munich and when we saw this place she immediately wanted to try it. From the outside it looked a little funky (Yuma, especially old town is basically kind of funky) But once inside we were pleasantly surprised. Bright, clean, airy and full of German kitsch and memorabilia. Very cute, and "German" in the decor, with a very inviting display cabinet with all sorts of German cakes and desserts when you first walk in. We were greeted by a very Un-German looking latina waitress who turned out to be such a sweetheart and a lot of fun. My wife ordered the Sausage sampler with Bratwurst and Weisswurst, potato salad (served warm) and Sauerkraut. and a beautiful big warm pretzel, inishing everything off with a Kirschwasser. I had eaten earlier so just had a coffee and wanted Beininstich but they were out so I had a apple strudel. She loved everything, and gave me a taste and I concur... My strudel was homemade as is most everything and very tasty. We met the owner who was working hard in the kitchen and she was very nice. She said to keep the quality where she wanted she had to do most of the cooking herself. We really wish she had a place in Las Vegas. We have the Hofbrauhaus but have never liked it that much... We loved the Das Bratwurst Haus

Background info: my mother and related family are from Germany, and I have been to Germany a half a dozen times so I have had plenty of German food at home growing up, at relatives homes, German Clubs, as well as on my trips there. This place is just OK, the service was very rushed and which was strange considering the place was not crowded. We ordered the Kartoffel Puffer which are potato pancakes as an appetizer. Well, if you like soggy microwaved leftover potato pancakes you can go there. I heard the familiar microwave "ding" and hoped it wasn't what I was thinking. A soggy, mushy, undercooked, tasteless mess. Potato pancakes are supposed to be fried up and served crispy. While paying I mentioned it to the waitress and she gave me some mumbo jumbo about the toaster oven. "You should have said something, I could have made it right" Well duh, how about doing it now? But it was not worth the argument. She also said the Weihenstephaner (sp?) Krystal was not a wheat beer, wrong again. We should have read the description a bit closer, but she was really pushing for the drink order. The beer was properly served, clean glasses and properly poured with a good foamy top. The Jaegger Schnitzel was OK, but somewhat greasy, ditto for the Spaetzle. The cucumber salad had way too much sour cream in it. We went there based on the great reviews, maybe they are the only game in town, did not see much else. Maybe they were having an off day or not the owner cooking? Does not jive with the reviews I read before going there.

Unbelievable. Hands down the best restaurant in Yuma; I still can't believe this place is here. Four of us ordered four different items and we all thought the food was amazing. Yelp continues to impress.

I'm German; I go there every year or so, and eat at a lot of traditional restaurants, so I know German food. Arizona is a wasteland for German food, but there is one good place in the state, and this is it. Service is very friendly. Food is excellent. Good choice of traditional dishes. Please give this place a try! Best thing on the menu is the Zigeunerschnitzel. Great mix of flavors with the peppers, onions and schnitzel. Probably the best version of the dish I have had outside Germany.

We have had dinner and lunch here several times each year since we moved to yuma. The food and beer is awesome. When you are passing through or recently moved here you must come to this restaurant. Sad thing it is a seasonal place.

Must eat here! I stopped in with a good friend on a motorcycle trip; the prices are a little high but the portions are filling and the food is absolutely top notch. The schnitzels and sauces are excellent and very true to the menu descriptions; I had jagerschnitzel with sauerkraut and german potato salad, and my friend had rouladen with red cabbage and spatzle. Everything was tastier than the last, and we had strudels for dessert. The server was also very knowledgeable and cheerful and dressed in traditional "beer maid" garb. I would definitely go back and bring friends!

Went with a friend and his wife a couple of weeks ago. I ordered the Beef TriTip Sandwich. My buddy had the brat. It was really good. Both items. My buddy's wife had the tiramisu, she loved it. She said it was really light and delicious.

...And we were SO hoping that this would be an unexpected surpise in terms of a Yuma eatery. We were disappointed. The Bratworst that we ordered was warmed up in a microwave (I saw the owner/manager taking them by hand out of the microwave as I was standing close to the kitchen chasing my two little ones around). The Brats straight out of the microwave weren't even close to ones you get for the same price at a ballgame, honestly. The German FRIED potatoes were not fried - they were also warmed up in a microwave and tasted like leftover Augratin potatoes. A side of these German potatoes and the schnitzel was $2.50 each and was basically a spoonful of each (strange it wasn't offered with the ALL of the other a la carte items on the menu?). I'm far from what you'd call a food snob, but when you pay $30+ for Bratworst (and my wife got a pork cutlet with gravy and cabbage...sorry I can't remember the name) you expect to get a bit better. As I took my 2 young kids outside as we waited for our food, I saw that one of the cooks (younger guy) went around the corner to smoke for about 5 minutes - came back to the kitchen without washing his hands. Fortunately, the older lady owner had prepared our food while the younger cook was out smoking. C'mon, these are basic NO-NOs. Lastly, the service was not great either. Never came by to even check and see if everything was OK after we were served (that's pretty much Serving 101, no?). After waiting 5-10 minutes for my receipt after paying, the waitress apologized and said, "I'm sorry, I'm not a waitress, I'm usually the cook"........and they weren't even busy either, that was the strange part. Interesting that the other comments here are all pretty positive. Not sure if we just caught them on an off night or if the other customers didn't expect much for a Yuma eatery?

Good traditional German food here, and they finally have a license to sell beer. Now if they could offer draft beer then that would be a big improvement! Small, cozy location with traditional bench style seating is enjoyable, and service is friendly too. Not all items are prepared here (some desserts, for example). I thought prices were a little high, especially for side items (like one potato pancake). I'll certainly return on my Yuma visits.

This place was a wonderful surprise that we found on the road to San Diego! My husband and I are of German descent and this was as good as Omi's. It had a charming atmosphere and a good vibe to have a few beers as well. Love It!

Wonderful authentic German food. We've become weekly regulars. The sausage is great, but so is the schnitzel, rouladen, and sauerbraten! It's always hard to decide what to choose. Service is outstanding, with friendly staff who are glad to help you understand the menu (written in both German and English).

Great little place with wonderful German food. We had the schnitzel and sauerbraten and there was not a lick left on our plates. Red cabbage - yum. This is not an expensive place - we have paid far more for the same meals we just had in other cities. And you can get half an order of some things on the menu if you do not want a huge plate of food. I found the half plate to be just the right amount. As far as the desserts not being made there - who cares? This is a small business and the owners can only do so much and what they to make is wonderful. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.
