We visit this restaurant at least once a week. I LOVE their green sauce! Everything is made from scratch - none of that out-of-the-bag guacamole. Their menu lists the usual Mexican cuisine, but influenced by old family recipes. The place is very clean, the prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. We think it's the best Mexican food in Wickenburg.

Good mexican food. Stopped in with some girlfriends for lunch before heading to a ranch near this location. They were pretty empty, and I think we were the youngest crew in there. The food did not disappoint. I recommend the green chili and cheese fry bread! Yum!

The menudo was amazing! Perfectly cooked and incredibly filling. Finished off with a Pineapple Chimi which was also freakin' good! Service was insanely good. This is the original location and has many others throughout the valley. Highly recommend!!!

You like happy, friendly service with your good food? You like chile rellenos? Hot food with delicious sides? Don't go anywhere else. Love this little place. Not fancy, but very good.

This place is amazing. Authentic as it gets. The food has taste unlike the competition in town (Cough "Anita's) Staff is friendly, food is excellent and fast, service is A+. You cannot go wrong. I can see (And hope) that this place eventually squashes the disguising competition.

This is authentic Mexican food the way it is meant to be. I especially have fallen in love with the enchiladas, but the burrito, flautas and chimichangas also have been quite tasty. Service is friendly, too. The only thing I wish for is a homier ambiance. Because it is a square space in a strip mall, it has the feeling of a square space in a strip mall. Some authentic rugs on the walls, a little more vibrant color and better furniture would help. But go there for the tasty food! Well, that didn't take long. Days after this review, over Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday (2014), The owners added some nice booths, new furniture and opened an addition by cutting into the space next door that used to be a little fitness center. Well done!

I have eaten here a couple of time and not been disapointed. Love the green chile. The hot sauce needs work. Overall worth the trip.

Ate there for the first time last week and I was really impressed. The place was clean, the service excellent and the meal I had was fabulous. Mexican food is my favorite and a many Mexican restaurants serve very bland food, but not Lydia's-definitely will be going back the next time I am in Wickenburg.

I hate to be the only one to swim against the dominant paradigm, but this place left me wanting. Went last week and the service is absolutely phenomenal! The food, however, is just above Taco Bell. I ordered a Chimichanga. It came out without any sauce or cheese on the top and looked and tasted like it had been in a grilled sandwich press. Also, more tortilla than filling. Only one type of beans are available - refried, instead of ranch style or something better. They serve no alcohol whatsoever, so I could not even have a beer with my dinner. I ordered iced tea and it was clearer and weaker than the water I was also served. The one chink in the service is that I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my tea. Sorry, folks, but raise your game.

Tucked away in the shopping center on the west edge of town is La Canasta. There are two rooms: the smaller representing the original kitchen and dining area, and the larger being a former adjacent business, with access portals between the two. I prefer the smaller of the two; the larger with its white office-type high ceiling and bright fluorescent lighting feels like I'm eating in an insurance office or something, despite the repaint and a few wall pictures/artifacts. But it's really about the food and service, and no faults found here. Chips and a mild/medium salsa are offered promptly, with bottled hot sauce brought on request. The menu offers a decent selection, my personal favorite being the chile relleno combo dinner. Service for me has been prompt and friendly, and if you've still got room, the churros or fry bread make for a fun dessert. If I may add a thought, and with all due respect, I am a little apprehensive about this restaurant's future in its present format. The signage does not stand out, its out of the way location is not the greatest, the anchor store for this part of the mall is out of business, the interior is not particularly inviting, and the no alcohol situation is a turn off for a lot of folks who like to have some wine, beer, or a marguerita with their meal, which is available elsewhere at competitive places like Anita's Cocina and El Ranchero. I say this because they serve arguably the best Mexican food in town, and I very much want for these nice people to succeed. The prices are fair, there is ample adjacent off street parking, and the menu offers breakfast all day, so if you'll excuse me, I'm off for some Huevos Rancheros!

New Place in town. I love all their food. The carne Asada burrito with beans is the best. The service was great and very friendly and helpful. I will tell my friends about this good place for Mexican food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
