    Originally we came here for their World Famous Cinnamon rolls, ok maybe just Tucson Famous. We ended up ordering regular breakfast (i.e. eggs, sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, toast and a small stack) that was extremely delicious that we forgot about the aforementioned cinnamon roll. Ok, maybe we didn't forget but we were too stuffed from the breakfast and LARGE stack of pancakes that were disguised as a small stack to consume anything more without unbuttoning our pants and posting up shop for a few hours - we're classy people here. The regular breakfast was as good as a home cooked meal. The pancakes were fluffy and filling (see above). The bacon was so delectable that when my husband dropped his last piece on the floor he contemplated eating it after he picked it up, mind you my husband is a mega germaphobe (too many micro bio classes), thats how good it was. We'll definitely venture back to attempt our original mission.

    My husband and I have been here for breakfast twice and the food is fantastic. I had the French toast today and you can't beat French toast with home made bread. The prices are good also. I'd say this is our favorite place for breakfast in Tucson.

    On top of being a great diner, they are also quite inventive. This isn't your average greasy spoon. Sure, the decor may be kitschy, the service may be down home, but the food is beyond interesting. The only reason I'm docking them a star is because they seem to be closed often, sometimes for weeks (or even months) at a time.

    Great locally owned restaurant. They have daily specials and homemade breads and cinnamon rolls. The entire staff was upbeat and happy to refill your coffee at will. Went there right at opening on Saturday morning and Lucy was friendly and energetic. Thanks for a great breakfast! !

    Atmosphere: There is a warm local diner feel to the interior of the restaurant. Hand written specials are on the walls. It is definitely not commercial and you can tell that it is not a franchise, which are key elements for me. I like to go to locally owned restaurants and business before chains. Product: It looks like normal breakfast fare. The proclamation of handmade pies and being able to purchase their bread was on the walls. It created desire, but we did not end up eating here. Service: This is where our experience at Roberts started and ended. When we arrived there were a number of people waiting including a large party.We were expecting to wait a bit, but the tables turned over pretty fast. After about 15 minutes I noticed a couple who arrived after us get seated and then it happen 3 more times. At this point we had been waiting approximately 25 minutes. My wife went up to inquire about our name on the list and the hostess acknowledge that we had been looked over. We expected to be seated next. That is not what happened. A couple that arrived no more then 5 minutes prior was seated. At this point we had enough and we stood up and the hostess looked at us and said sorry. At this point we decided to walk out. Conclusion: Mistakes happen and there are was that they can be rectified. The chance was given to Robert's when they discovered we had been overlooked. Yet they failed to provide us with the next ready table. This is disappointing, because I have lived about 1/4 of a mile away from this place for years and have always wanted to try it. It was my wife's birthday and we decided that it would be nice to check it out. Although if might be a one time occurrence, I doubt that we will return anytime in the near future. I will point my friends in another direction if they ever inquire about eating at Robert's.

    As of November 8, 2014, Robert's Restaurant became my new (but old) favorite breakfast spot in my college town of Tucson. I can't believe I lived there six years without knowing about this dreamland. Maybe it was for the best, because now it's something I will always look forward to when I'm in Tucson! I don't even know where to begin...Peggy. We will begin with the most wonderful lady of a server, Peggy. She was patient, accommodating, and refilling my coffee on the fly. She made great suggestions and complimented our selections. As a table, we started with the homemade cinnamon roll cut in half and grilled to perfection. They did just that. A cinnamon roll should always be eaten like that. It comes with a side of frosting that is sweet but not too sweet, an "I can't even" combination. My sister Brooke, a Robert's occasion regular, recommended something that was not on the menu that she had ordered before: homemade jalapeno cheese biscuits and chorizo gravy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It's everything you imagine it to be; savory flavors just bouncing off your tastebuds delicious. The picture doesn't do it justice. My sister ordered a chocolate chip belgain waffle which looked awesome and Zach got the steak and eggs, which was a great deal for the amount of food he enjoyed! Before we left, Peggy gave my sister and I each a Robert's t-shirt free of charge that I will happily wear in Phoenix. I can't wait to head back!

    Really don't get the hype. Robert's Restaurant was a decent restaurant with decent food. Five stars considering every restaurant in Tucson? Definitely not. First of all, their waiting area is bizarrely shaped and tiny. We walked in and weren't sure what to do. Other breakfast places have a sign in sheet, but theirs was faced away from customers and pulled back nearly off the counter so we weren't sure if we should sign in or not. We waited until we saw another customer cut in line in front of us and sign in without the host even acknowledging our presence. Fine, so be it. We signed the sheet. They either have a staffing issue or only hire extremely stressed people because everyone was running around like their hair was on fire. The host was literally gesturing to tables to seat people rather than taking them there. IDGI? I hosted in a restaurant triple the size when I was in college and it's not that hard. We waited outside for a few minutes and were seated quickly. Our server promptly brought us coffee and water (spilling the coffee everywhere, poor girl). We looked over the menu and it was standard breakfast fare. I had a denver omelette with hash browns and my husband had the chicken fried steak with home fries. Our meals took about 15 minutes to arrive, too long for breakfast/diner food, in my opinion. When you have competition in the area that serves in under 5 minutes, you have to be prompt. The food was fine. Really liked the homemade bread. However, I am 99% sure the hash browns were previously frozen from the grocery store. Really disappointing. My husband's home fries were decent. Not once did either of us feel amazed by our food. Maybe we would have felt that way in college, nursing a hangover. I don't know. (But with their prices compared to the MUCH cheaper breakfast prices in the area, I don't know why college students would waste their money here). The majority of our conversation was regarding how much better other breakfast places are. Disappointing. I don't understand the draw here. Next time, we'll wait in line for Bobo's instead.

    Great diner style toast and eggs. They have their breakfast down pat. There was what seemed to be a head chef in there making sure things get done right. Cinnamon roll was amazing like all the other reviews say. I got it grilled. Last but definitely not least is the amazing hospitality the women there have. Thanks!

    My mother taught me to always say something nice before saying something critical! The over easy eggs were perfectly cooked. The service was very good ,prompt and friendly. I had heard about the cinnamon rolls .It was large , warm and the topping made with pecans was good - the bread was a bit too doughy . Biscuits with sausage gravy just o.k. I was mostly disappointed with lack of butter in any of the products and being given a little tub of margarine when I asked for butter. The bread is homemade but feels ,tastes and looks like wonder bread ,texture not being the least bit hearty!

    So, as promised I went back to Roberts dinner. My friend ordered the exact plate I had last time and it was really good. I ordered the steak and eggs. The steak is very fatty and wouldn't I recommend. We ordered the cinnamon roll again and we loved it. We even ordered a second one. Although, service was yet again an issue here.I asked to speak to the owner let him know things I thought were much better. He refused to come to get table. He sent a waitress to ask what we needed. It showed customer service isn't a high priority here. Lastly, this place is way over priced for a diner a large OJ is really a small coffee is 2.00 bucks one breakfast was 17.00. If customer service would have been in place I would return but I'm not coming back.

    I have driven by Robert's for years and never thought to go inside. My Dad and I decided to go for breakfast one morning and I was quite surprised. It's very cute inside and has a fun diner vibe with a plethora of chalkboard walls displaying this weeks specials for breakfast, lunch, soup and pie flavors. Their menu had plenty of breakfast options and great prices, I ordered the french toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. As soon as I said I wanted my eggs scrambled the waitress asked if I wanted cheese or green chile on top, such a nice surprise. My breakfast was great, I liked that my french toast wasn't super thick bread, the eggs with cheese were great and the bacon was nice thick pieces and not greasy. My Dad ordered the biscuits and gravy with chorizo gravy, 2 eggs over easy and bacon. He ate every bit of it, he said he really enjoyed the chorizo gravy and the little kick that it had. I will definitely come back to this place again.

    I love breakfast at Robert's! When you walk in, the staff makes you feel so welcome. From their wide variety of delicious homemade pies to the amazing cinnamon rolls, you have to check it out. If savory is more you thing, try the breakfast specials with the thick slice of ham or the tender steak. Don't forget about their great lunch menu from fresh salads and soups to mouth-watering sandwiches you'll find whatever you are looking for. I can't wait to go back and try the jalapeño biscuits!

    We love Robert's--it's our "Go-To" place for a great Saturday breakfast, if we can get in! KJ said it right, the staff at Robert's go out of their way to make you feel welcome, They have that quick, efficient and nice way about them that experienced but busy servers have--when you're lucky. These gals are proud to do this work and they know that their customers [most of them anyways] appreciate them for the pros they are. I just wish they hadn't stopped serving those delicious, hand-formed sausage patties. You can get "Sysco," machine-made, tasteless patties they serve now anywhere and everywhere, at all the ordinary places. Ugh. But, as you will know if you go to Robert's, their homemade Jalepeno toast can make up for just about anything! Plus, once they got rid of those silly oversized plates that they experimented with, the rather narrow tabletops in the booths are back to just about perfect. Where else can you get the trout & eggs my wife loves? Go here--you'll love it provided you appreciate what's best about the good ole' American, breakfast cafe.

    This place is alright considering that many people swear by it. They are known for their fresh cinnamon buns which they will even fry for you. I like to come here every once in a while but I usually prefer Bobo's across the street.

    Great place for breakfast! There is always a line-up as the place is always packed, but you don't have to wait long! Loved their Jalapeno Bread which you can buy by the loaf to take home! Great home cooked meals that come in large portions! Service was fast!

    I was new to Tucson, looking for a place to get breakfast before facing a daunting road trip. Google results lead me to try Robert's and boy, that was a great decision! Being around 8 on a Saturday morning, the place was packed. The waitresses were able to handle this heavy workload with a smile. I ordered the green chilie biscuits and chorizo gravy, and my mom got a waffle and it was outstanding. Filling for a great price. We've been back several times, and Robert's remains one of the places we take people when they come to visit.

    This is a classic breakfast / lunch diner. The atmosphere makes you feel like you showed up at your family's house. Everyone is extremely friendly from the waitresses to even the other customers. The food is yummy and everything is homemade. They have homemade pies, cinnamon rolls and loaves of bread to take home!

    A friend suggested we try Robert's for breakfast. We really enjoyed the homestyle atmosphere and the prompt and courteous service. In a city that seems to get more "hipster" by the minute it's great to find a place that is relaxed, friendly and still family owned. We ordered the Mediterranean omelette and pancakes with bacon. Both were perfectly prepared. The pancakes were particularly good and they even take a moment to ask how you'd like your bacon prepared. That's a rarity anymore where bacon is often burned to carbon. Michael particularly enjoyed the homemade jalapeno bread they served. My only complaint: The wonderful homemade pancakes deserve real butter, not a butter substitute. There menu is fairly extensive for a breakfast/lunch place and it always seems to be busy. So, be prepared for a short wait if you're there at peak breakfast hours. Robert's also serves made from scratch pies. It's worth going just for them. While we didn't sample them for breakfast, I stopped by the next day to pick up an apple pie to take to a school function. It was incredible! I want to go back to try many of their other varieties - particularly the chocolate and peanut butter. It's definitely become a place we put on our list of Tucson favorites. I only regret we don't live closer.

    Great food, great service, and great coffee!!! I wasn't expecting the coffee here to be good, but it was really great! The food was good as well. I love how the cinnamon roll is made out of a thick toast instead of a more pastry-like bread. It is so flavorful and delicious, and it is nice that they give you one with glaze and one plain. I actually liked the plain one just as much as the sugar-glazed one. The Mediterranean omelette special was really yummy! It isn't like your typical omelette- it's not as fluffy and thick. My eggs were pretty light and runny. There is a good amount of filling- tomato, spinach, and feta- in it though, which is nice! I had the jalapeno toast: It had a nice flavor, but it wasn't that 'toasty'. I just wish it were a little crispier. I also tried a bit of the pumpkin pancakes and the sausage. The pumpkin pancakes were so dense!!! The flavor on them was great though- you could really taste the spices. The sausage patty was good because it wasn't overly salty like most sausage patties are! The service is good too- the waitresses are helpful and genuinely nice people.

    This place is outstanding. Clean as a whistle, plenty of parking, excellent food and baked goods made in house, all at a very reasonable cost. I had Salisbury steak which I could cut with a fork, delicious as was the cream of chicken soup. The excellent roll came with two pats of margarine which was the only disappointment for me but the waitress said all you have to do is to request butter instead. I have had breakfast there also excellent. You know you are in a professionally run restaurant when the salt and pepper shakers sparkle and are absolutely clean. I went on a Saturday and they were mobbed so maybe go for lunch or breakfast during the week, you will not have to wait.

    Great diner experience for breakfast. We went @9am on a Wednesday. No wait. Service was quick and efficient. Started with the halved, grilled, iced cinnamon roll, served with butter. You can also request extra icing. Roll had a moist center with a slight crisp from being grilled. My husband had the chicken fried steak which had a good crunchy outside and legit sausage gravy. I had the Greek omelets which has decent tasting gyro meat. The jalopeno toast has a bit of heat. They will also serve your hash browns crispy upon request.

    Thanks to the reviews on Yelp, took our first trip to Robert's on President's Day. It was definitely busy, but the wait was well worth it. My wife had the cinnamon roll and it was outstanding! Definitely get it grilled. I had the blueberry pancakes and they were great as well. This is your typical diner and my only complaint is they don't serve dinner! Still trying to find a good dinner place serving diner food.

    Lucky me has eaten breakfast at Roberts weekly for years. I like many of the breakfast specials and the omelettes. The pancakes are wonderful and in the last year or so pumpkin pancakes have been available year around. So good! They also have homemade desserts and breads. Enough about the food! The REALLY great thing about Roberts are the wonderful servers. You could not find a nicer group of women anywhere and most have worked at Roberts for a long time. I give Roberts five stars for quality food and tremendous service. If you do not enjoy your meal at Roberts, please let the server know and the problem will be resolved immediately. I have not had a problem often but when I do, I know I can get it fixed fast with a smile. Chow down!

    2nd time I came to Robert's this past year and both times they were out of cinnamon rolls. Why not make enough for the half day they are in business? Rest of the food is below mediocre diner's grade. I will only come here for their pies and cinnamon rolls when driving by and will not make a special trip.

    Great local establishment! We were in Tucson for a wedding and found this on Yelp. It did not disappoint! The pancakes are huge (I highly recommend the pumpkin ones) and the homemade bread is divine. We sat at the counter and the service was great -Peggy seemed to know her customers and chatted it up with those she didn't already know. The entire place is a throw back to way back when and still serves RC Cola! Great food and family atmosphere- will definitely return

    This is the third or fourth time that I've been to Robert's and I do believe it's the last time. The food this time was just meh. But my other ordered her burger medium-rare, it came out well-done. My bread which is supposedly homemade tasted day old and not so good. Our server Maria, barely took notice of us after delivering our meals. She stopped by once to drop off the check and ask if we were okay, after that, she disappeared--never bothered asking if we wanted dessert, nothing, and mom and I were contemplating a piece of the Pecan Pie. I had to get up and ask a different server for a box. Sadly, with more poor experiences than good at Robert's, this is the last time we'll be in.

    Love this place. The jalapeño bread is a must. I always order it when I am here. And for all you fans of pie -- this is your place. Yes, it's your standard diner -- linoleum everywhere! But the waiters are wonderful and attentive. It is clean, fast, reasonable and the servings are heaping! I have seldom been able to complete my meal in one sitting, so plan to take some home.

It looks like an old fashioned diner, cool retro vibe, The mediteranean omlette, the trout and two eggs, the egg white omlette and the California omlette were all a hit!     Really 3.51. We had brunch here this morning and there's a lot to like about Robert's, from the friendly, collaborative staff wearing UofA Wildcats logo wear to the old school diner ambiance to the restaurant's mission statement boasting of their home baked bread, meats ground and tenderized in-house and the other house-made treasures. That's why it was incomprehensible to me that they would use butter substitute. Why? It doesn't taste as good and it's seriously bad for you. Worse than butter. Robert's has been around since 1978, the year before Alan and I met. There was a crowd and a bit of a wait, but not unreasonable for a popular place on a Saturday morning. We were trying to figure out what it reminded us most of at home and it was Nib's, although it's larger than Nib's and painted warmer , earthier colors. And Nib's is closed, to our sorrow. Alan ordered the pumpkin pancakes w/ pecans and bacon on the side, while I ordered French toast w/ two eggs and bacon. He ordered iced tea and I had hot, both included in the price of our breakfast, We watched and listened as the staff interacted, helping and supporting one another as they worked hard to make sure everyone received what he or she ordered. There were lots of regulars and lots of Wildcats gear among the crowd. Our food arrived and was tasty. I was unfortunately seduced by strawberries, which were not fresh as I had envisioned, but in a syrup. Fortunately Alan saved me from the whipped cream, as he had seen it on the menu, which I hadn't. I wish I had rethought the strawberries entirely, as I prefer them fresh and unsugared. The French toast was tasty but the strawberries made it sweeter than I like and there wasn't the salty taste of butter from the grill. The eggs were good, as was the bacon. Alan's pumpkin pancakes were very flavorful and I would have them if we were to return, which we may on the way out of town Tuesday. They have chicken fried steak which was calling to Alan, so we'll see. They have home made pumpkin pie and pecan pie, which sounded wonderful and were about $3 for a slice and their cinnamon rolls are renowned. I didn't have room for any of that. Prices were reasonable, again, less than $20 for a generous brunch.

    This diner is the shiiit! The place is packed with a wait most of the time. The patrons run the full spectrum age-wise. The waitresses call you "Hun" and "Sweety" and talk to customers like old friends. I sneak in alone now and then and snag a seat at the counter. The food is solid American breakfast and lunch fare with a huge menu and specials daily. Quality ingredients and big portions make this spot a real value and a reliable destination for comfort food. Luckily I live close by because after a meal at Robert's a nap is automatic. It's like falling asleep on the sofa after dinner at your mom's. Grab a table, be a "Dear" and order the meatloaf.

    Everyone seemed to have the same idea as we did this Saturday morning to avoid the rain... head to Robert's for breakfast. The tiny waiting area was crammed with humanity and people seemed to linger at their tables, not eager to head back out into the storm. They told us the wait would be twenty minutes, but if space opened up at the counter, those seats were first come first serve. After about a twenty five minute wait we are told we are next to be seated when two spaces opened up at the counter. We opt for those. We had a chance to look over the menu, so I knew what I wanted - their special Southwest Benedict -two poached eggs atop turkey breast sitting on a slice of their homemade jalapeño topped with green chili hollandaise. Came with breakfast potatoes and a drink, which went to my wife.She goes with the corned beef hash and eggs, also comes with breakfast potatoes. Let's start with mine: I cut into my egg and see that the eggs have been "poached" to the point of being almost hard-boiled. Not really a problem for me although I was looking forward to the yolk explosion normally associated with poached eggs. The turkey was tasty and tender but I did not detect green chili in the hollandaise, It's still a tasty dish but the anything-you-can-do-I-can-better in me says a chorizo patty in place of the turkey would have been more "Southwest"... just sayin'. My wife's "hash" featured huge slices of corned beef mixed with some potatoes. She was wishing that the it was more of a true hash and could not finish. I gladly took some corned beef and half a slice of toast and made myself a mini sandwich. The special was $8.99 and the CBH-n-eggs was $7.99. When our food was delivered the waitress asked if we wanted ketchup, tabasco or homemade hot sauce, which they charged me $.59 for. Not a huge amount of money but just something to be aware of if you breakfast here. Service was what you expect from a dinerish place and prices were reasonable enough that I bought a loaf of their homemade jalapeño bread to bring home. That's either going toward sandwiches or to try my hand at re-creating the dish I had... with my own twist.

    One of the best places to get breakfast in Tucson. My boyfriend and I eat here at least twice a month. The food is always great - I especially love their toast (yes, the toast is THAT good that I have to mention it in a Yelp review). They also have pies that are to die for. Try the apple pie, you won't regret it.

    Robert's is hands down the best diner overall I've visited in Tucson. Most if not practically all of the food and fixings are scratch made with simple ingredients, including the bread for toast and buns. The food is consistent, the service is friendly, and prices are very reasonable for bona fide homemade comfort food. Personal favorites include the corned beef hash, made with real corned beef, and any of their desserts. I do have a few gripes. Like many dinners that serve older patrons, food can sometimes be under seasoned. For some foods, like French fries, it can leave them lackluster even when salted later.. The coffee is also so-so by diner standards - it doesn't hold up to milk well and sometimes you want a cup of strong black coffee to go with your sweet sticky bun. They also use a vegetable oil based "butter substitute", though they do have real butter if you are trying to avoid vegetable oils. If you want real, fresh comfort food prepared with love and care, give Roberts a try. Give yourself a little while as they are often very busy and they close early during the week.

    I am new to town and was looking for a good breakfast diner to frequent, I got lucky and chose Robert's first. Not only does it remind me of my favorite diner at home, it's got some nice surprises of it's own. The cinnamon rolls are a must try, at least once, and the jalepeno toast is a great side. I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to breakfast foods, but their eggs, bacon, and hash browns all come out hot and properly cooked. Robert's has great service at the counter and your coffee is always full, what more could you ask for. FYI they close for a month during the summer (currently closed from July 9-Aug 9).

    This place is good, I recommend getting the cinnamon roll it was to die for. everything else is really good the chicken fried steak is really well seasoned and the country potatoes are flavorful as well, and it came out quickly too which was nice. remember to have your entire party with you though or they wont seat you and they move kinda quick so maybe looking over a menu before you sit might be a good idea other then that i cant complain this place was ok in my book=]

    This is your local neighborhood "diner". I am surprised Guy Fieri from the Food Network has not featured this place on his "Diners, Drive ins and Dives" show. My children and I had breakfast and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. The bread, cinnamon rolls and pies are all home made. The breakfast entrees are large so you get your money's worth. The sausage patty was one of the best I ever had. The coffee was good also. Not your usual weak watered down coffee at most diners. This is coming from a "Coffee Snob". Definitely a place to visit if you are in Tucson.

    As far as classic diners go, this is perfection. The food is absolutely amazing. They make everything fresh in house every day. The cinnamon roll is my favorite; they cut it in half, toast it on the grill, then smother it in butter. Wow. It was very busy and it's common to have a wait of about 30 minutes for a seat but I take this as a good sign. I've only had the breakfast, but I look forward to trying the pies because they looked stunning.

    I'm new to Tucson and still searching for a favorite breakfast spot. The number one requirement for *my* breakfast spot is killer chicken fried steak and sausage gravy that will rival that of Farmer's Table in Fort Collins, CO. Sorry to say, Robert's didn't come close, and I'm also not a fan of breakfast potatoes in any form other than crispy hash browns which they don't have. However, the service was FANTASTIC, so if I'm in the neighborhood I may stop back in and try something else.

    We are unfamiliar with Tucson restaurants so we searched the reviews for a good breakfast place. Robert's seemed to have great buzz so we gave it a shot. Food was good, nothing special and didn't really live up to the hype. They are known for their cinnamon rolls, which we were told to order "halved and grilled." I was expecting an amazingly hot and gooey roll to show up, and it was really just a lukewarm version. Still tasted good but definitely nothing to write home about. I LOVE all things pumpkin and could hardly eat 1/2 a pumpkin pancake because the batter was so dense. Flavor was good but the texture was not. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and absolutely loved it. The jalapeno white bread tasted fresh and was very good. Server (Brenda) was fantastic. Really quick, attentive and really knew the menu. She made the experience for us for sure. Definitely Diner's, Drive In's, and Dive's kind of place but not sure I would make a point to come here next time I'm in town.

    I really don't understand the high reviews this place gets. I've thought it was just average on my previous visits, but waited to give it the benefit of the doubt. Today was my third visit & it's still just average. The pluses: staff seems friendly, it's cheap & they're pretty fast. The not-so-pluses: the food is not particularly tasty, not always hot & the place is invariably crowded. I just really don't get why!

    They have the BEST cinnamon rolls in the entire existence of the universe! Their breakfasts are delicious and no outlandish prices! Service is wonderful and they have a cheery atmosphere. I will be eating here every time I am in Tucson from now on.

    I love how I can pick out my food before ever seeing a menu thanks to yelp reviews :) Based on previous reviews I knew I had to get the cinnamon roll & I also knew it would be big enough to constitute an entire meal. So, I did just that. Ordered it grilled, plus some a la cart sausage & potatoes and thoroughly enjoyed every bite!! The hubs ordered an omelet with jalapeño toast & I forced him to share....the homemade toast definitely lived up to expectations. Maybe next time ill branch out a bit more, but I'm glad that I got the staples Roberts is known for....everything was amazing!

    I love this local diner. I recognize the same servers every time & they are always quick and friendly. I've only gone for breakfast so far, but I always like my meal. I split their pumpkin pancakes with my boyfriend last time and they were delicious!

    It is what it is. Best way to describe Robert's. Leave any expectations (if present) of gourmet-ness, foodie-food, fuss over plating etc behind before you enter. Here you will get your working-man coffee and grub. The cinnamon rolls are good. Omelets are good. Their bread is good. Has a really cool small-town vibe going for it. Overall, Robert's is good food with friendly service. Nothing less, nothing more.

    So me and a friend visited this gem of a place after an 8 mile long hike. Turned out to be the best decision of our day. We arrived and immediately were seated, and within 2 minutes had our drinks and recommendations given to us. Our waitress was sweet and funny, and let us take our time even though we came at a busy time. We each had a cinnamon roll, which are humongous and ridiculously delicious. Fair warning, one is more than enough to split between two people, they are about the size of a small pizza. Also, make sure if you are going to split the bun, you do with someone you are extremely fond of. Lesser friends I would have maimed, slaughtered, and killed all to top the bun for myself. After moaning and groaning over our sweet treat, we ordered, the lady going with the French Toast with strawberries, and myself with the California Omelette burrito style. The omelette was three eggs, cheddar cheese, diced chicken, and avocado, with a side of fresh salsa. It was delicious and large. The french toast was more than ample, with four generous slices, and the strawberries were delicious and warm. The only small mark on our otherwise amazing meal was the fact that the potatoes and eggs were a bit standard for a place that did everything from scratch. However do not let it dissuade you from visiting this culinary delight.

    It is not often that I crave breakfasts.....the ones from Roberts are the true exception! You must try the grilled cinnamon roll hint: you can ask for extra frosting and roasted pecans to put on top of it! Absolutely delicious!! Their home made breads are great as well, my favorite is the jalapeño with extra butter. Great food, great prices, great people.

    After moving to Tucson and having a few months to settle in, I found myself thrown fully into the midst of NCAA football season. For me, this means copious eating during games and dressing up on Saturdays in my UCLA Bruins jersey for the early afternoon before switching into Wildcats garb for the latter half of the day. When "my two teams" wound up playing against each other, I had some friends visit from Los Angeles for the weekend, which led to the inevitable question the morning after game day: Where is my favorite place to eat breakfast in Tucson? My response has typically been slathered with ambivalence - breakfast to me has always meant overcooked, rubbery eggs, burnt-to-a-crisp bacon, dry pancakes, and the potato chip's equivalent of hash browns. In other words, something that would never warrant waking up early enough to get breakfast on a weekend, time otherwise dedicated to getting as much catch-up rest as possible. However, I had come to Los Angeles from a small town of diners, and then arrived in Tucson after a four year stretch surrounded by an ocean of Jewish delis/diners that had the best breakfasts somewhere between 10PM and 2AM. This desert land was somehow different though. There were tons of places that simply specialized in breakfast. There was Frank's (Francisco's by night) and Bobo's for typical greasy goodness, while Blue Willow and Nico's became my go-to for the highest and lowest ends of breakfast fare. A few days after leaving Bobo's, I would drive east on Grant past a small joint always packed with cars, a sign adorning the exterior overhang. It was called Robert's. It looked interesting, and it had amazing reviews online (one of the best surefire ways of finding potential Hungry Joe's candidates, namely through yelp and urbanspoon). Finally, I went on a Saturday and had my mind utterly blown. While most diners have a sense of family to them, having originated when a kindly grandfather and grandmother opened a restaurant to provide hearty family food to their community, Robert's truly embodies these qualities. Many of their recipes are from-scratch versions of the owner's own father's recipes, passed along from his father-in-law's restaurant dating back to the early 60's. Robert's is the kind of place that makes all their cinnamon buns from scratch, uses real corned beef in their hash, and even goes so far as to bake all their bread fresh even if it is simply going to end up as toast. To me, toast has always been a side, something barely worth consideration and usually used to cut the fat in my otherwise artery-clogging breakfasts. However, the bread at Robert's borders on absolute divinity. Their rye bread, covered with sweet butter, can stand as a meal unto itself. It almost takes center stage away from the meats, omelets, and eggs just from the sheer wash of caraway that gently rocks your palate with every single bite. I rarely have leftovers when I go there, but when I do, it usually takes the form of a fresh loaf of bread that I buy on my way out. The little things at Robert's make all the difference beyond just the quality of their bread. When you order a drink, it comes with the meal, so a soda there always comes out to less than a dollar if you are eating anything of substance (why else would you go? Maybe for the bread...). If you want coffee or tea, it won't cost you additionally. Are you excited that it is summer, and by extension time to grill everything? Robert's agrees, and will grill your cinnamon bun if you ask, giving it a delicious caramel undertone that accentuates the fluffy dough. And finally, Robert's is the kind of place that prepares. They have Tabasco, Cholula, and other specialty hot sauces in an attempt to please everyone, regardless of preference. Ultimately, Robert's is a place to go for amazing quality comfort food, great service, and extremely affordable prices. Just make sure to go before 2PM M-Sat, or you'll find yourself faced with an empty restaurant. Worse, you'll be left with an empty stomach.

    I have been coming to Robert's restaurant for over 25 years. I do not order a whole lot from their menu, I typically just come here for your basic egg breakfast. The staff is always friendly, the food is good, and it is reasonably priced. I really don't think you can go wrong if you're looking for a good breakfast. I highly recommend Robert's restaurant.

    I know it's tough to make an awesome breakfast. It's even harder to make a bad one. Roberts is a for sure great breakfast. I like to keep money local so this was a no brainer to try. Small hole in the wall type place but very clean. Always seems to have a fair amount of people eating, which usually says alot for a restaurant. Chicken fried steak and eggs is my go to for any new place. This was my third time and I still get the Same thing. A side of bacon is a must for me and the bacon was awesome. Have had bigger portion at other places but it was good and not overly cooked. Servers have always been nice but PEGGY is hands down my favorite anywhere. I met her at another place and the fact that she is here now will solidify me coming back more often. One thing I would change is the fact they only take cash. At least the first time I was there. Now I make sure I got the cash just in case. Give it a try people, local owners, good food, fair prices. Peace.

    Great omelettes & great service- but plan to go early because the place is small & they don't take names for tables...you just have to stand there & watch for someone to get up and then dash for their table. Ha ha, I would give them 5 stars otherwise.

    Been going there for years. It's always great. Fast service. The best breakfast food, starting with their homemade breads. The waitstaff knows the menu very well. Exceptional omelets. Clean atmosphere, full of sunshine and fun graphics on the menu board and windows. Everything that you would want in a breakfast place - fast, friendly, and delicious; with great prices to boot.

    ah Roberto's (that is Robert's in spanish FYI ;p ) This is the kinda place that not only you can have a delish breakfast but you can have a slice of pie after. Maybe a cinnamon roll too, or just make that 'breakfast'. Its well worth picking up a pie alone. the staff is all career servers so they are almost always on their game. they close fairly early (around 2 i think), And they USED to be cash or check, but I think they finally got a credit card machine.

    First off I have to admit two things: 1. I am not a breakfast person at all 2. I did eat hear after a long night Now to the review. I think anyone who is spending the time to even look up reviews on Yelp! appreciates a old fashioned hole in the wall restaurant. Typically you get better service, atmosphere and food. Well Robert's is no exception. Me and about 8 friends went the Saturday morning of homecoming weekend around 9:30. My only negative, which accompanies all good hole in the wall restaurants, is we had a decently long wait and the dining was crowded. Getting past that we sat down and it was time to order. As I mentioned before I am not much of a breakfast guy so I went with Oatmeal and got sold on adding a fresh homemade cinnamon roll. Boy am I glad my waitress was a good saleswoman. That cinnamon roll was the BEST cinnamon roll I had ever had. My friends all got a slew of different things from Omelets, that were big enough to feed China, to French Toast. Everyone was happy. The service was quick, the waitresses were polite and the food was great. If you are ever in Tucson and need a good hole in the wall breakfast joint close to campus I would highly recommend.

    I love this diner! We have a standing date for lunch on Fridays. Normally I wouldn't dare eating meatloaf in a diner but Robert's does it right. It is the perfect comfort meal with two slices of meatloaf, vegetable of some kind, mashed potatoes and a dinner roll. I finish it with a slice of peanut butter pie. I'll admit it is a little pricey at about $8 but for a once a week deal it is OK.

    AMAZING cinnamon rolls! I ordered a Denver omelet with jalepeno toast, which was also very good. But the enormous, melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon rolls are incredible--we had one as an appetizer and my boyfriend had another with his meal.

    This place is worth a bold statement: best breakfast in Tucson. Get the grilled cinnamon bun. Your heart won't thank you, but your taste buds will. Then follow it up with one of their amazing meals. They have different specials each week that are very good. Try the jalapeno bread too! The restaurant is clean and simple. It's always busy on Saturday mornings, but I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so to sit down.

    I love this place. My dad was in town and wanted to go to Bobo's (which I detest), so I said we should find somewhere else. We found Roberts. And it was great! Delicious fresh baked bread, and a great breakfast overall. Would definitely return.

    1. we had a coupon, waitress knew how to handle it, nice. we've had trouble with them other places 2.value to price ratio, my favorite number. despite high end price, $7 for breakfast, it was huge, we needed a box for pumpkin pancakes. better than average value menu ratio. good for them. 3. taste, i'm kind of a volume guy when it comes to food. but this tasted good. swapped half with my wife, she sent eggs back to be microwaved a bit more, she doesn't like runny. we told family about how tasty the pumpkin pancakes were, surely a good sign. 4. the service. from uniform clean shirts with name tags(looks they change shirts every couple of hours, no one working at that speed can stay that clean), to the most professional waitresses i'm seen. 5 star here. so. travel on grant, west to east: mother hubbards, bobo's, roberts. price roughly doubling each place but you get what you pay for. want cheap breakfast-mother hubbards, want lots for medium price-bobos, want the best roberts. it all matters how much you want to spend, i think all 3 have nearly the same value/price ratio. nice. all on grant road. i'd be curious which place has highest ROI, i'll bet Roberts. but in each play employees all work hard, moving fast.

    Oooh, I'm a fan! Some friends took the Missus and me to this place this weekend. It's only a few minutes from my place, yet I've never seen it before (the powers of word-of-mouth at play!) Yes, there was a wait, but no longer than a wait at a big corporate place, so that didn't bother me at all. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly, the food was priced wonderfully, and 'twas some good grubbin' (I had a breakfast sandwich on some amazing jalapeno bread)! but.... I wish it were bigger (what if I wanna bring all my coworkers, or at least so I wouldn't feel so guilty for wanting to sit and enjoy my coffee! :p

    I have never been treated so disrespectfully by a restaurant's wait staff and manager. My business partner and I hold a weekly lunch meeting at different Tucson restaurants. We had brunch at Robert's today. We arrived at 11:00, ordered coffees, ordered meals, etc. At 12:15, our server informed us she could "no longer allow us to stay", because she had people waiting. We were shocked, and asked to speak with a manager. The manager refused to speak with us in person. Instead, the waitress returned, said she had the "right" to ask us to leave, and said she was sorry for hurting our feeelings?! Obviously, the staff at Robert's has no appreciation for our business, and we will never return to this restaurant.

    Robert's is a typical diner-style breakfast restaurant. Greasy, cheesy, homestyle breakfast - just the way a diner-style breakfast should be. The waitress was super attentive and running around fast to ensure all her customers were happy. I ordered the Denver Omelet burrito style and it did not disappoint. My only gripe was the extra $0.75 for salsa...burritos should always come with salsa! Overall, great experience!

    Roberts is my new favorite breakfast place in Tucson. My first visit I had the California omelet which features chicken chunks (breast meat) and avocado. I recommend getting a side of their 'home-made hot sauce'. The small bowl of salsa costs you 60 cents extra but it's worth it. I took home a loaf of the wheat and one of rye, both were excellent and a good value at $2.75. My second visit I had the special which was pancakes cradling bacon with 2 eggs your style. I didn't know what cradling meant. What they do is crisp up the thick, smoky bacon, and then pour the batter over it. So you end up with bacon embedded in long pancakes. I chose to lay my eggs over easy atop the pancakes. What a treat! A different way to eat pancakes. Service staff are very friendly and efficient, and the place is extra clean. My true rating would be 4.5 stars, deducting .5 stars because the coffee is truly diner-AWFUL. Yuk. They use the dreaded Bunn system of making coffee from mediocre beans, then frying the standing coffee in the 'warmer'. Please, Roberts, please. Do your coffee right and you will have to double your already-packed seating space by two to accommodate Tucson's breakfast-lovers.

    I was busing it the other day & missed the bus by that much. Some businesses don't like it if you pop into there place to keep warm for half an hour for the next bus. My waitress at was A-Ok with it. She kept offering to get me something to eat. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was going to eat elsewhere. I did have a really good cup of coffee & a great conversation with her. I don't know why I don't go to Robert's more often.

    My favorite breakfast restaurant in Tucson. We try to go at least once a week. The food is delicious, the staff is all so very friendly and you can always see the owner in the kitchen whipping up everyone's food. They make their own bread which is awesome and their lunch menu is as good as breakfast.

    Wow, all I have to say is based on my first experience, I was extremely disappointed because of the simple fact this place is a locally owned establishment but lacks flavor to write home about. I had their southwest style breakfast of beef chorizo, scrambled eggs, and home fried potatoes. Honestly, this plate left a lot to be desired. It virtually had such gross flavor that it made me feel like this could be prison quality flavorless food. My dad had bacon that tasted like cardboard and burnt to black toast, not to mention his toast was smashed. My mom had sausage patties that literally had no interesting flavor. Probably tasted like a pile of old solid grease drenched with fresh grease. I will admit that they might have better options as far as the other reviews left by other people but generally when a restaurant serves an item from their menu, whatever it may be, I think it should taste palatable, not miserably.

    This is the place that my daughter begs me to take her to for breakfast. The cinnamon rolls, whether fresh out of the oven or toasted are excellent. The bacon is crisp and the eggs cooked well. I usually order the eggs, toast and potatoes and they are good. Once in a while, I get their specials and they are tasty. Pumpkin pie pancakes are awesome! We usually hit this place during the week around 6am and we are always guaranteed friendly and quick service. My only wish is that this place was open on Sundays, but I can't have everything.

    Best run of the mill breakfast in Tucson. Everything is made in house. All the bread is fresh baked, as well as the cinnamon rolls. I love the rye bread. I have had nothing but good food and great service. The waitstaff has been there for a long time and they are on the ball. The lunch is good too. Somehow Robert's manages to make a greasy spoon menu not greasy and pure quality. Cash or check only, and I think they close at 2pm.

    Mediocre food and VERY rude staff. After placing my drink order I was told that I could NOT wait for my friend to arrive but had to either order or leave (I had placed the drink order no more than 10 minutes earlier). The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. I will not be back. I would recommend Bobo's instead (just off the street).
