So good. Excellent service. I don't write reviews a lot, but I have a soft spot for a) excellent enchiladas and b) new restaurants that are underpopulated. Also, get the guacamole. No really, get it. Freehand chunky and yum. Don't skip this place!

We came here this Sunday morning. When we walked in we waited five minutes before anyone even came out from the back. The prices were fair. Unfortunately our food came out cold:( the service was not good either. She seemed to be more worried about getting the check paid for them is letting us enjoy our food. To bad going it would be better. Good luck. The salsa was good tho!

We ate at Roberto's recently on a Friday night. We were nervous because there weren't many customers. There was live music which was lovely. I ordered cheese enchiladas with rice and beans and my husband had the special, chicken poblano relleno. The enchiladas were delicious. I really liked the enchilada sauce -- not dark and bitter. I thought the rice and beans were very good. The rice has mixed vegetables and is light and fluffy. If the beans and rice aren't good, I won't go back. The chicken poblano relleno was amazingly delicious. The poblano gave it more flavor than an Anaheim chili and the chicken was shredded white meat, moist and flavorful. I highly recommend that special. The margarita was fine -- nothing out of the ordinary, but also not overly expensive. The guacamole was fresh and good. The salsa is PERFECT!! We ordered the flan and while I am not a flan fan, it was unlike any flan I've seen or tasted and was so delicious. Everyone should try it. The restaurant is very pleasant and I hope more people start enjoying it. The prices are very reasonable. The service was great. I look forward to going back and trying other items because I'm sure they are all tasty. I appreciate restaurants that are not chains and serve really good food. Please support the owners that take the risk of starting up a new business.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Flavorful, nicely served, well priced . Seriously, we were very impressed. There are a lot of choices but this is Definitely One of the best in Town. Roberto's is a great addition. Home cooked, delicious and very welcoming. I am sure we will become regulars.

Well, here's what we found over a couple of visits: an albondigas soup that included potatoes and one disgusting meatball in a beef swill; burnt chicken flautas cooked in old grease; warmed over rice; watery rice pudding; heavy flat cheese enchaladas, store bought chips, blaring music, inattentive table service; and, then there was the owner, who always kept busy counting money or chatting away on her cell phone at the end of the bar. Nice.

I finally had a chance to try breakfast here, and I'm sure I'll be having it again sometime soon. I've had burritos, eggs, chorizo, usual Mexican breakfast lots of times, so I tried Roberto's Plato. Awesome. Possibly the best Mexican breakfast I've ever eaten. Two eggs, enchilada, relleno, beans, tortillas. A pic wouldn't do it justice. The tortillas are the best in Tucson, and food like this takes a LOT of prep and a skill that no one really takes the time to take at home. Not even my mama or anyone in our previous generation serves this combination. Too much work, although Mom's (and my) beans are better. I can see why Roberto puts his name on this plate. Buen Provecho!

The service is friendly and food is good. My only issue is that whenever I call, the delivery driver is NEVER there. It's also a bit pricy than most Mexican food places, but reasonable for a sit down restaurant.

This review is based on two Friday evening visits, first with a friend and two weeks later with a family party of four. Both times, business was sparse, especially for a Friday night, but given the location, I suspect much of their business is breakfast and lunch traffic from near-by businesses. The Pros: Food is good. Five out of 6 entrees were judged "tasty" or better, including by two people who had chiles rellenos, and both of whom are picky about that particular dish. Refried beans are good, better than in most places here, and definitely not from a can. I can personally recommend the camarones rancheros. Tortillas are "home made" and good, with both corn and flour on offer. Prices are fair and portions are adequate, but not overwhelming, so you probably won't need to ask for a box. Both the Cadillac and House margaritas were judged to be good and with a decent "pour." Beer during Happy Hour (not sure of the time but at 6:30 happy was still happening) is $1.25 for domestic and $2.50 for imports. Service was good +, attentive, but not too attentive, and was responsive to requests and substitutions. Live music 6:00-8:00 pm on Fridays. Parking is good and it's easy in and out. The cons: One entrée (chile poblano relleno de pollo AKA "chicken stuffed poblano chile") was pretty meh, bland and over-battered in my opinion. And it came out late, five minutes after the other three people in the party were served and eager to eat. And it was the special of the day! Although that may have been the problem. ( : One of the two salsa served was bland and thin and too tomatoey, if that last is a word. The other salsa was good, but could have used a little more heat. No music on the second evening. According to the server, the band had another booking. I suspect one that might have paid more. The peculiar: All of the seafood dishes come with French fries. They're good fries, but still they didn't really seem to go with the camarones rancheros. One wonders: Could Roberto have trained in England and became addicted to "fish and chips?" Regardless: the folks at Roberto's are more than willing to substitute for the fries. This is an above average Mexican restaurant that deserves to succeed. By way of comparison with other sit-down Mexican food venues in the greater vicinity, the food is on a par with El Charro, and the service is way better, (and the drinks both cheaper AND better). For my fellow Westsiders, food AND service is better than Teresa's Mosaic Café.

New restaurant. Service was great. Food was good. Not bad for our first meal here. Next time they may earn the 5th star. Ordered the gorditas, beans, and rice and it was good (gorditas could have been cooked a little less) and my friend ordered the large menu and it was as expected. The chicken tortilla soup was a good starter. I would recommend upping the chips and salsa game if I had to offer feedback

Delicious food, excellent service, and fair prices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Roberto's chile rellenos are actually good which is extremely rare for a restaurant. Thank you Roberto's!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
