If you're looking for GREAT Mexican food amongst the wide variety in Tucson, I HIGHLY recommend this place!! Seems to be in a dicey area, but it was a great spot! Great food and a good value for the amount of food. Very authentic and great employees!! Will definitely return if in town!

Perfecto's is a true hall-in-the-hole joint. It may be hard to find it. If you are heading south on 12th Ave from Irvington, look for the little strip mall after you pass Nebraska Street. It will be on the right side of the street. Menu is also available online on their website, which shows their inexpensive options and a brief history of Perfectos. From the service to the food, it was all enjoyable. The beans are tasty, the tacos are crunchy, and the salsa was flavorful. On the outside, you might be wondering if this place is any good. Let me tell you that this a place you should step into. Expect a little bit of a wait once you order to get the food, but that's because it is clear they are making it from scratch in the kitchen. Also keep in mind that because it is a small restaurant, there is not a lot of seating. If you come during a meal time, there might be a little bit of a wait. Last note: you can read this online or on the menu, but the name originates from the father of the family, Perfecto Leon. He made his money selling Tamales around a Safeway for almost two decades. Now, his family runs the restaurant. It's a great story of how hard work pays off.

Perfecto's is pretty darn close to perfecto. Sandwiched in a small, unassuming strip mall next to Alejandro's, Perfecto's dishes out the sweetest green corn tamales that put Tucson Tamale Company to shame. Come here on Sunday for the $8 buffet from 11-3. While it isn't the large spread you'll find at Rigo's, you won't be disappointed. Cheese enchiladas are slathered in a tasty red sauce, chicken chimis are moist, and even the beans are thick and creamy. The restaurant is small, and you'll be hard pressed to grab a seat, but service is sweet and attentive, and despite how busy it is, the restaurant is very clean. $8 to stuff my face with delicious Mexican food? Oh heck yeah.

I got Amazon Local Deal and this place is near my house so thought I would give a try. I ordered the Carne Asado taco combo. When I received my plate the meat was so overcook that the carne was black. So needless to say it was chewy and tasteless. I did try their green corn tamale which was pretty good. There was only one waitress and she was very sweet and attentive. Unfortunately there food made me sick! It was a good thing I came straight home after dinner. I will not be dining there again.

Very average mexican fare. The shrimp mojo de ajo was flavorless shrimp with large pieces of garlic...not very good since I am not mexican and can make this better at home. Enchilada sauce was not very good according to my husband who is mexican. Tortillas, tacos corn tamales were acceptable/good and our waitress was attentive. Unfortunately I would not return here since so many other better mexican places in Tucson.

Recently remodeled, this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in town. Everything here is good, from machaca for breakfast to tamales to menudo to seafood. Lunch deals even include soup which is one of my favorite reasons to come here.

Delicious. The Cocido, corn tamales, and pozole, are unreal. The rest of the food is delicious as well. Service is good and pretty fast. Pricing is very fair. Real deal Mexican food.

Delicious and authentic Mexican food at a reasonable price. The service is friendly and they are fast. Portions are just right. The Spanish rice is really good and so are the beans. The green corn tamales are great too.

You can not go wrong with anything you order here! They just need to serve liquor but the food is the best.

My friend loves the tamales here so they introduced me to this place today. She had a regular tamale and also the green chile one. Her husband had the Carne Asada Torta. I ordered the Cocida (vegetable & beef soup). My soup was fantastic and my friend let me taste her tamales. The green Chile one had a nice spice (but not hot) and the masa had this slight sweet corn taste. I'm getting that Carne Asada Torta next time! Awesome portion sizes. My soup was only $2.95 and comes with corn or flour tortillas. I'm kicking myself for not getting the torta.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
