It's an un-assuming little place on the end of 4th Ave before you head downtown. I've walked by it quite a few times but had never been in until today when we needed a place close to the office to watch the UofA/Oregon game. OK - so it's not fancy, some of the tables are a little wobbly and the menu isn't extensive but I found it to be just fine. Our server was very personable and the burgers...wow. One of the best burgers I've had since I've lived in Tucson. Yes. Seriously. The atmosphere was perfect for a game day, too. I'd suggest O'Malleys if you're looking for a place to watch some sports, kick back with a beverage and grab a burger with friends after work. I enjoyed myself and am looking forward to heading back there to enjoy lunch on their patio.

I come here only at night, maybe have had a beer or two during the day. I think this place gets so packed because it plays current music and has a good mix between a bar/patio and a dance floor. It's not a great place but since there isn't many other "mainstream" places in Tucson it'll suffice.

Best burger I've ever had!! (and I've had many!) Try the Jameson BBQ or Irishman! Yummmm!!

Run... Of... The... Mill. They have a good selection of beers, it's clean, and the service is decent, but this place has absolutely nothing to do. They have a few worn out minature pool tables and that's it. I'm not looking for a place to sit and twiddle my thumbs while I drink a beer. Give me a wow factor bartender if you don't have any other amenities... this bartender was just above average. Could be a nice place if they added some foos, shuffleboard, video games other than Galaga, etc.

Thursday nights are bomb here! The DJ mixes great!! Drinks and dancing all night!!!

I've been here during the weekdays and found O'Malleys to have ok food and decent service but O'Malleys tends to have a Jekyll and Hyde type personality. On Friday and Saturday nights, it's not only a place I don't want to go to, I don't even want to walk by it. It seems to be the epicenter of UofA douchebagery on these nights and it should be avoided. There has been numerous cases of violence (most recently a stabbing) and the place overflows with gbags and Hoe's to the point where they overtake the sidewalk and make it difficult to maneuver that part of 4th AVE. I say pick your days to visit, but if not..you're really not missing much.

i have mixed feelings about this place. i had a burger and it was great! but then a cockroach ran across the wall and it felt less great. it can tend to have a gross stale beer smell, and sometimes they charge cover or there's a long line, but then they'll have good drink specials and awesome live music with a dance floor. Soooo overall I'd this place is a 3, maybe more a 2.5, but I'm gonna be generous.....

I always have a great time when I visit! Live entertainment on saturday nights!! Who doesn't like live music?!?! Bar help is friendly too ;)

I'm underage so I've never tried their drinks but I have gotten good there and they have the best chicken Caesar salads are to die for .

Came here the weekend before St Patty's day and they had bagpipes playing! It was so awesome and the service was very attentive. Loved this this place.

This place is dope. But their 2 stars from me come from the fact that my cousin and I have been here for almost TWO HOURS and have yet to even make eye contact with a waitress. We've gotten all 6 of these beers ourselves. They are seriously horrible. The guy at a table next to us has been waiting THIRTY MINUTES for 5 shots. It's is a game day, GO UofA, but they should've staffed accordingly if that is what the problem is.

First of all, let me say, I'm not writing this from a "bar scene" perspective, because we have kids and generally visit during the day. If you want a bar scene review, seek another. We've attended some events here and sometimes pop in while shopping on 4th for a quick bite to eat. The food is fairly reasonable and tasty. I am uber disappointed that they removed their hangover fries from the menu though. This was my go-to quick lunch or snack and they were amazeballs! We recently ordered some Irish nachos, which were fries with an Irish flair. It was the biggest damn plate of fries I've ever seen! The cheese was tasty and decidedly Irish tasting but Sweet Baby Cheesus, they need to cut down on the amount of cheese. Now don't get me wrong. I love cheese but the fries were literally drowning in a lake of cheese, which ended up oozing all over the table. The little, fried jalapeño slices on top were a nice touch though. As far as atmosphere, the rooms are big and airy but not so clean. I'm not super picky but avoid the back room at all costs if you like to keep your flip flops on your feet. I've been there several times and the floor was so sticky, people kept losing their shoes, literally. They stuck right to the floor. Don't even get me started on the bathrooms.

O'Malleys has two rooms, & a patio. One room is turnt, & the second room is turnt all the way up; the place is generally dude-heavy, but it's still fun if you have your own group. Drink variety is dope, beers on tap are solid, bartenders are quick to address you * make sure you know they know you're there. I would definitely tighten up the dress code, but the place is cool; security doesn't mess w/ anyone that doesn't deserve it, & everyone seems to be cool. I don't have much to review, this place is just a legit college-bar; walk in, & stumble out (Don't drink & drive)

  • Jay B.

Horrendous. Wouldn't even give this place one star if it was possible. Sex-based discrimination -- charging males for entry and females free. Loud, crazy & expensive. You can't hear yourself think much less talk to someone. The employees have a "your lucky to be in our bar" attitude instead of a "thanks for coming and doing business here" approach. Never going back- - The Shanty, the Buffet, Flycatcher- - anywhere but this place! Avoid!!

  • Vivian S.

Stopped in for a drink and snacks...We should have gone somewhere else. Our drinks were brought out in shifts and our order was wrong after we repeated it to her twice!

Do you enjoy diahrea (sp) all night? Old, warm Guiness? Fried food that tastes like the feces soaked towels in the women's restroom? Then, this IS the place for you. Save your life and your money and never enter this dowdy location of on the famous 4th Ave. My question is - how do they legally stay open? Is there a health department in Tucson? Double Eck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use to love this place had been going for years. Then one night I'm walking from another bar with a plastic cup of tea (not alcohol) in my hand and as I'm getting closer to the door to go in the bouncer tells me he cannot let me in with the drink so I said no problem, threw away the cup and he still doesn't let me in, I'm asking why and he couldn't give me an answer! Then 3 girls get up to the line all with cups in there hand and the bouncer just lets them in right in front of me like nothing. I was in shock! I asked why he allowed them in and not me and he kept saying they work here! I was in disbelief and other customers behind me saw how I was treated and left. I still till this day do not know why he didn't let me in. I think it was cus I didn't look like the other girls in short dresses etc. but after my experience I'm never going there again.

Food sucks, bathrooms are dirty like mega gross, and there's always a bunch of dudes. Plus, I saw my first bar fight here.

Stay as far away as possible!!!! Worst food worst service. Honestly eating from a dumpster would be better!

  • Sarah D.

The most uneducated bouncers ever employed. Who says they have different laws than ARIZONA LAW?! How is it possible to get in every weekend of the year but not this weekend because there's a new BOUNCER?! You're dumb as shit, for real. But thank you so much for wasting my time.

F this place. 0 stars! This is a bar for sheep who follow the biggest crowd. I've never had a good experience here. I've only been here because my husband's cousins come here all the time so we just come to hang out with them but what really put me over the edge was Halloween night. We paid $10 each to get in and had to wait in line for an hour for a drink and still didn't get a drink so we just left. I was so pissed because I didn't want to go there to begin with. It's patrons consist of bros and skonkas. What a waste of time and money. Why host a Halloween event if you can't handle the business?

We went to O'Malley's (during dining hours/not club hours) at the end of the street fair, and the waitress had clearly had a long day; which she made a point to mention to us. Our drinks took forever and weren't cold, she rarely came to check on us. The service was mediocre, though, I asked her to make a drink for me and it came out awesome. Very fun atmosphere for drinking with friends, lots of TVs and a great location.

DDD Crew stop #4 on our Dia de los Padres Muertos adventure. Wasn't feelin' it...er...smellin' it. Walked in and my olfactory system was assaulted with an odd mixture of cleaning supplies and spice. Kind of a bleach, pine, cinnamon and clove smell. My girls noticed it too. Saddled up to the bar and discussed turning to leave but didn't want to be completely rude so we all ordered a shot. Down it and get out the door. A couple of girls ordered Jaeger and two of us asked the bartender to surprise us with something that wasn't sweet. She combined Fireball and Crown - really good! I'm sure O'Malleys is a great place to hang out but maybe when they aren't cooking up a big smelly pot of either the house specialty or floor cleaner.

  • Mike C.

While it's a great place to go during the weekend, it's not the right place to go for watching the game. I've tried their Hangover Fries and let me tell you something: Chipotle and Fries do not mix. I felt like my insides we're going on town in a bad way. My recommendation for O' Malley's is go during the weekend, nothing else.

    (3)
  • Nicole S.

Not bad enough to be one star because they actually serve drinks. Other than that nothing good about this place. Crappy service, dirty bathrooms, clearly a lack of leadership or management around here.

  • William B.

I've done O'Malleys a lot in the past but this was my first visit in almost a year. I came with a group of co-workers to enjoy and let loose. O'Malleys is so massive, with three bar areas. I get my drinks outside where it is less busy, although by midnight the whole place is a zoo. The backroom on a Friday had some remixed dance electronica going, which included a little Chumbawumba music (remember them?) The scenery here is fascinating, every kind of male and female on display, with high heels and muscles bulging galore. There's plenty of sport's tvs, and booze is flowing and dancing like crazy. There's food somewhere there too but I didn't have any this visit. It's a good time here, not claustrophobic, and well staffed so it feels safe.

  • Ariel B.

Terrible place! If you go here, you are just asking for assault charges. Young sloppy crowd, got to this place late and it was a very big mistake. Ghetto girls that are just looking for trouble and very slim picking for a decent guy. Trust me when I say paying the extra small cover charge else where will be well worth it!

    (1)
  • Alex C.

This place is horrible. Bad food, ugly girls, bouncers are pricks. Never go here. No one ever goes here anymore anyway, used to be cool, not people realize there are much better places around Tucson. STAY AWAY!!!

    (1)
  • Kelly B.

Enjoy this place very much! Love to come here and dance on a girls night out and the bartenders make the mixed drinks pretty well.

    (4)
  • C B.

This place is gross. If your a girl and want at least 5 guys rubbing on your butt and bouncers doing nothing about it even when you complain to them, then come here. Not to mention the drinks are super watered down while being expensive, the bartenders were hired based on looks not skill or brains. The music sucks and the crowd is nothing but frat boys, so-ho girls, and "thugs." Go elsewhere.

Just came from that place and they say it's 2 for 1 Thursdays but drinkers be aware, they will try and charge u for two drinks. I was there and was drinking Coors light before the special which was 3.00$. Then ordered again after when the 2 for one was going on and the bartender said it was 6 bucks for two. I am sure they thought I was drunk but I knew what they were trying to do. Good try!! I was sitting at the bar and I saw lots of time people would order drinks and the bartender would charge them for two drinks!! MAKE SURE U ASK HOW MUCH A DRINK IS BEFORE U ORDER AND MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TWO FOR ONE! I saw countless people getting screwed out of their drinks. The bartender would say "oh tonight is two for one", then people would shots and the bartender would charge four drinks instead of two. The people wouldn't know what they were being charged because the bartenders wouldn't hand them a receipt. Be careful people!!!!

It's Tucson's busiest club now, but it just might be too busy. On a Thursday or Saturday people are literally lined chest to chest on the dancefloor. But if you are wondering where the party is, it's here. Not the best bar selection, and drinks take forever to make. I miss the days when cover was free for students, but five dollars won't kill you either. Thursdays are nicer two for one drinks.

Sunday morning football and food is my favorite!! Not into waiting in line or paying a cover to get in ANYWHERE in tucson...ever. It's tucson. No. But I love coming in on a football day/nights and enjoying the drink specials and familiar faces!! Daytime crowd is so much different from the sloppy late night crowd, I guess it's better that way....dealing with sloppy college kids is not my idea of a good time!!

I was tempted to give omalleys a four star rating because of how well we get treated when we go there at least once a month for the Ducati club gatherings to watch motogp and wsbk. But I cannot base my review on specialized attention that not every patron will receive as I have been there many other times to watch bands play and other events. The most redeeming quality is the recent change in the menu because of their new chef. The food is really good; really a surprise for a bar. The bar service is slow most of the time and I have been to places with a better selection of beers on tap. There are a number of individuals who visit omalleys that are unsavory, but it's a bar on 4th so you can't expect the north of sunrise crowd. I would have to say that the worst aspect is the bathroom, it is in need of a serious revamp, I try not to go when I am there. Overall what you would expect for a bar on 4th with a great redeeming quality in the food.

Cool spot. I've frequented O'Malleys a few times before and never had a bad experience. I was there last night for the St. Patrick's Day festivities and had a blast! Yeah it was a little crowded but it wasn't suffocating. The 70s and 80s cover bands were fantastic. They played some great jams (Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire, Devo, Madonna etc.) and entertained basically every demographic at the bar last night. The DJ mixing between the bands on the other side of the tent was fantastic as well. I have to roll my eyes at the previous review about "so many saggy pants and sideways baseball hats". I didn't know loose fitting clothing is such a threat to some people.... Let's loosen up here, it's a sports bar in a college town. Oh and the cover for guys does suck. But, guys with student IDs don't have to pay cover.

This is not one of my favorite places to hang out but they do have pretty good food. I love their burger dripping with bleu cheese and plenty of fries on the side. Wings are good too and they have good happy hour prices. Service has been pretty good during the day but I avoid this spot at all costs at night.

I went to O'Malleys to see and hear the Tucson Music club perform. Saw my friends Shaky Bones play. It was my first time there, and I must say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I am just not a fan of the big bar scene, but hey that's just me. I had ordered the nachos which were HUGE!!! But they used "movie theater cheese" (quoting from my gym trainer) IT was just all right. Over all it was all right.

Very nice. Big euro style dance floor in the back.

We stopped by this bar on the recommendation of our cab driver that brought us downtown. It was very spacious inside, and there were a lot of people but it wasn't too crowded. Got our drinks right away and enjoyed them outside on the patio. We had a good time there.

  • Nita M.

I just wanted to go out dancing with my boyfriend while visiting Tucson and O'Malleys was great. Well drinks were only $4 and I didn't have to wait long at the bar for someone to take my drink order. The line to get in was short and there was no cover for girls ($5 for boys). They had a pretty good DJ who played a lot of the songs I would normally want to request while out dancing. The 'dance floor' area right in front of the DJ is small but you can dance wherever in the otherwise very large bar. I liked that there were a lot of pool tables, so if you're with a group of people who don't all like to dance then everyone has something fun to do. Overall a lot of fun and I would definitely go back for some dancing!

Huge huge.....HUGE space for the Tusconans to hang out, especially if your prone to being a sporto, cheerleader, or poser. I went here last weekend to see my friends band "Cosmic Slop". Unfortunately the place was pretty empty (a sign of the bad economy?). I got a comfortable seat, and cringed every time the in house sound guy messed up with the feedback. At several points I had to escape to the patio to check and see if my ears were bleeding. Towards the end of the night a gang of bouncers rushed out the door and tackled one of the patrons for who knows what reason. Eventually the cops came. I have never seen so many ridiculous drunk girls at one place before, yelling , screaming, and causing trouble, and the place wasn't even that busy. Go here if that's what you're into. I think I'll pass. I like my girls with a little more class.

Oh O'Malleys. I have spent years coming to you for fun times with friends. My favorite place was outside on the patio, and as I got to know the outside bartenders it became my secret spot. Quick service is always great, but I couldn't always get it at the inside bars. Thursdays are 2 for 1 drinks, always a good time. The live music is always entertaining, whether its good or bad. O'Malleys is a place to come to be seen. The line down and around the block is mostly for show until probably around midnight. Why did you start charging cover for guys? Is the economy that bad? You're always full after 11pm... you've become so cool you think you can get away charging cover. My friends and I used to come before cover started and drink water's until after cover began. Take that O'Malleys. Parking is a hassle any weekend night on 4th Ave. Your best bets are 9th St, 3rd Ave, 5th Ave, or if you get there early enough the Bison Witches parking lot via the alley. O'Malleys is a ***3 star*** place. Not amazing, not horrible. Come with a group of friends and get drunk and be seen. I have such good memories here I gave them ***4 stars*** out of respect for the times we have shared. Oh but if this place is alright for coming to watch some sports games during the day with friends. Food isn't bad and you get what you pay for.

So i probably shouldn't review this place because i went there during club crawl, which was ridiculous. The line was huge, but it moved really fast. once inside I will say i like this bar... a lot. The kid at the door was casual and nice, he even told us the drink specials which was cool. the bartenders where awesome. I stayed on the patio, but the two girls where attentive and delightful. the crowd was okay, t-locs and college kids, but it was busy . Pros: Cheap drinks, good atmosphere, Patio is nice, doorman is super cool, and good crowd. Cons: dj on the outside was garbage, as well as the band in the back, but all and all it was okay. Bartenders in stage area weren't all that great (albeit it was packed) and the waitresses where horrible. (one girl asked our party if we wanted drinks, we ordered some/ she came back with wrong drinks, I asked her for a check she came back with a wrong check, instead of making a big deal i just paid.) The reason I give 5 stars is because as I was leaving with my girlfriend a fight started right in front of the only exit. I watched as three men in green (security) and two guys who jumped from over the bar (Bartenders?) pushed the violent parties outside. They then shut the doors, leaving one bouncer( the smallest one) outside. FREAKING CRAZY! Little Bruce Lee pushed the fighting parties out into the street and then retreated back inside. It was like a movie or something The. bouncers wouldn't let us leave, which i thought was ridiculous at the time (but i was a little drunk), but i understand now it was for the best and they were ensuring safety of everyone inside. I have worked at bars myself and i will say these men exceeded their duty. O Malley's is awesome. and also being in the military i love the free cover on Saturday night. Salud O Malleys! I cant wait for Thursday 2 for 1!

  • Kayla B.

Ya its a good spot to hit on Friday and Saturday night if you are already on 4th. I haven't had great service here every time, but its not so terrible it wont go back and i usually just stick to beer so the "bartenders" don't get confused on what i want. Here is my advice if you set the bar low for this one, and bring your patience there isn't a lot of places to sit and you will usually have to wait for a drink.

    (3)
  • Mindy S.

Good food. Really good food. The burgers are awesome, especially the Guinness burger. A great place to watch a game on a Sunday morning - just be sure you get out of there before 8:00, lest you should end up in a random fight with a pack of over-served bro's or get roofied.

  • Conor B.

Never tried the food Pro's: Prices, Location, Bartenders. Con's: Attracts many T-Locs, bathroom lines, often a sausage fest

  • Brad H.

I've never been there for food, but the scene is tired if you've already been to college. If you're into cover charges for guys and the potential for a fight at every turn then this could be your spot. If not, go down the street to the Shanty or go downtown.

    (2)
  • Chris K.

Really bad bar service. It takes for ever to get a drink here any time Thu thru Sat after 9. They have pool though and a back room that usually has live music

I've only ever been here a handful of times, but each of those, I left unimpressed. My friend loved to come here when we both turned 21. We went with a group of friends on Thursday nights for 80s Night. There really were an insane amount of drunk girls here (some in my group included). It was kind of ridiculous. A friend of our's got kicked out for some reason and in his drunken state wandered back inside. When it was closing time, we were all walking out, I was walking behind him making sure he was okay and one of the bouncers said, "Hey it's that fucker we kicked out!" Then, he proceeded to hit my friend in the back of the head kind of hard. Assault much? Yes, I think it was. Luckily, our friend's a lot nicer than I would have been because I wouldn't have tolerated being punched in the back of the head--or anywhere, for that matter. The last time I went here was in December of 2007 since my car was broken into and I just didn't like the entire experience (same night as the bouncer/friend incident, actually). If crowds of UofA students, totally wasted and overly annoying, is what you're into.. then by all means go to O'Malleys.

last visited march 07 Big giant frat house type sports bar...but I still had fun talking to strangers here... good decor, pool tables, 2 bars, small dance floor. st.patties day was a joke! crazy packed.. it was too bizzy for me to play pool here, ever... I liked the bar away from the pool tables and dance floor easier to talk to people. Seemed a little more expensive then other places. every collage town seems to have a place like this so I'm not to impressed.

  • Michelle L.

I hate this place. It's got terrible feng shui, there's not really enough seating, the kitchen always closes before I get hungry, and the crowd is really just a bunch of obnoxious college students. As far as "irish" sports bars go, you could do better in Tucson.

  • Surranna V.

I was in the mood for a burger so we went down to 4th ave. to give Lindy's a shot but they were closed so we walked down the strip and ended up here. I think the actual place is cool, it has that old warehouse feel that i love, exposed brick, duct work, and tall ceilings. It is a sports bar which I don't care about but I did have a great seat at the bar and watched some Monday night football. The beer selection could be better but it could be a ton worse. The underside of the bar has no purse hooks and a lot of gum and judging by the amount of sorority types purse hooks should be installed and the gum should be removed on a regular basis, no? The food was whatever! They brought out a burger with only the patty, bun, and cheese and the patty was half the size of the bun. Hello, can I get some lettuce, onion and pickles? It was just weird. The bartender was a big dumb jock type that was flirting with the sorority sisters taking tequila shots. Whatever!
