Second time back, brought my boyfriend's parents. Everyone is very welcoming. I was glad there wasn't a making-out couple across from me this time (get a room). The best thing ever is the BOOM dip. It's absolutely awesome so you have to get that if you come here. The pizza is pretty good too. We got the Chicago thin, which seemed to be a lot thinner than the first time which was somewhat disappointing. We were looking for kind of a regular thickness crust which the thin was on our first visit. After trying a few pizza places in Tucson and finding nothing great, this place was a bit refreshing. Doesn't hurt to be right next to Sullivan's where we can walk over and get a sundae afterward.

Not impressed with this place. Went here on a Thursday night after driving 4 hours into town. Waitress was pretty much ditzy and all over the place. We ordered a side salad after asking about the size and got a giant oversized salad. We ordered a full pizza with meatballs and after asking waitress about meatball size they arrived full size huge and too spicy. Drinks were very watery and the music atmosphere was very loud to the point we couldn't hear each other talking. Pass on this one.

Decent Italian food! I had the Alfredo the Dark with sausage, very creamy and with a perfect bit of spice. Served with delicious and flavorful garlic bread. It is definitely one of my favorite pasta dishes. Also, tastes just as great for leftovers. My husband had the garlic Chicken lasagna which he said was really good! He finished the entire plate right there. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. He was really nice and helpful with the menu.

If you have an out of state license don't expect drink service! The manger didn't like my out of state license, refused me drink service, never said, "I'm sorry about this" or had any empathy, treated me and my wife disrespectfully so much so I left and will not return. I moved here for college I have been in Arizona for 9 months never had anyone bat an eye on my ID. I have never had any issues with Total Wine, any bars, or my Pima county marriage license not to mention I'm 26. I agree with the posts about poor service. The one is phoenix is much better. I have worked in food and beverage and have had to tell people their ID will not work but always offered them the drink virgin or gave them a discount and empathized with them. The lack of service and mistreatment is astounding, I will no go back and I will discourage my friends and clients from going their as well.

The thin crust pizzas are really good. 18" is huge and can feed 4-5 depending on appetites. I always appreciate being able to get half one flavor and half of another as I like variety. They let us do this with the cookie pizza too. The peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies were warm, gooey, and topped with vanilla ice cream and mini chocolate chips. Not bad at all.

It is just okay. I just cant get over the small portions for the price. Good food, that is for sure but I just cant handle the prices. Sort of ridiculous.

Walking in I was greeted by a friendly hostess and I told her I was looking for a friend who'd already sat down. Wandering through this restaurant is tough as the layout makes you feel like you're in a lab rat's maze. The aisles are narrow and there are twists and turns at nearly every table so although I could see my friend making it to her was a bit of a task. The beers on tap were excellent and the service speedy. I ordered wings and inquired how hot their "wings of fire" were, the server gave me a bit of a shrug, perhaps she wasn't a spicy-food-fan, so I opted to split my wings between that at the garlic Parmesan. I found both to be pretty good. I wouldn't really classify the "wings of fire" as such but they did have a good spice/flavor to make up for what they were lacking in the scoville scale. All in all this joint is A-Okay, nothing amazing but certainly not too shabby either.

I absolutely love this place. The people are friendly, the service is fast, and the food is delicious. I really wish this place would expand out of Arizona because I crave it when I'm not at home. Don't expect this place to serve authentic Italian food, but you can expect some delicious gigantic portions! I recommend the toasted ravioli, Pablo Picasso salad (half is more than enough), Alfredo of the Dark pasta, any of their thin crust pizza, and if you can save room for their pizza cookie for dessert. Something about their food is just so amazing. I cant stop eating it until I'm food-coma full. Everything is tasty and seasoned well. Portions are HUGE so expect to share between 2-4 people per entree.

I wish Oregano's would expand outside of Arizona. The food isn't truly authentic and definitely not the best Italian food I've ever had. But the food is consistently good. The portions are HUGE!!! Each dish could easily feed 2 big eaters. And the price is cheap. My husband was stationed in Arizona twice - 2002 & 2011. Back in 2002, we were a young couple with limited funds. Oregano's became our "special occasion" place. A meal with plenty of leftovers would run us about $20. The price thankfully hasn't increased that much since then. In 2011, I noticed that the Zany Ziti was baked in a pie crust. I'm not a fan of this change. But I still like the dish. Another favorite is the Italian gold wings. The pizzas are also quite tasty. And another must is the calamari. When we were in town for work recently, we could have gone to a better restaurant. But we wanted to take a stroll down memory lane & came here. Glad we did :)

Be careful of the portions - they're huge!! It's definitely a good place to go with a large group of people and share. They also have friendly and attentive service. However, I gave this restaurant four stars out of five because the food isn't amazing - I would describe it as a "step up" from Applebee's. Other people might disagree, so I would recommend trying it out if you haven't been here! Bottom line, I had great experiences and memories, but I personally wouldn't go out of my way to seek out pizza from Oregano's. On the other hand, I can't deny that it's a great place to go to with friends and family.

I liked the one on Speedway but the last 2 visits they screwed up our orders, brought us someone else s pizza, then said whoops we never put your pizza in. Then the next time up, burned the pizza, but gave it to us for free but then brought out a soggy mess of a pizza. Now this is how Oregano's is supposed to be. The only place you can get decent Chicago style outside of Chicago. Very nice ambiance, great service. On top of the deep dish I recommend the wings. Very good and worth thr trip to the North side of town.

  • Mike H.

This oregano's does everything right, the pizzas just about the best to be found in Arizona, and the service is always top quality. We went on a Saturday evening at 5 PM and fully expected to stay at least an hour just to get a table. But oregano's got us a seat at the bar in a matter of minutes and 15 minutes after that we had our pizza. It was delicious and their thin crust is as good as any I've ever had and that includes New York City. Five stars all day long, and I wish we had one of these at home. Oh, by the way, be sure to get their fresh baked cookies with ice cream on top. It's the best.

Any place that place that plays Dinah Washington is great. The portions were huge and food was great and the waitresses were all really nice friendly and attentive. The place was really clean and open, the bathrooms were clean. The drinks were served in huge cups so not needing a refill ever 5 minutes. Its a bit on the expensive side, $1.79 per extra item on a pizza is a lot compared to anywhere else, but for me its worth it. The only problem is they dont just have a regular pepperoni pizza, every pizza is a specialty so in order to have a peperoni and cheese you have to pay for each topping, and thats about all that sucks.

  • Tammara W.

We're fans of Oregano's, it's our favorite place to get a Chicago style Pizza in Tucson. We were ecstatic when they finally put one over on our side of town! I'm sure I put this on my review of the East Side one as well, but I'm going to place it here too- The best Pizza IMO is the Pan with Spinach & Mushrooms. Well worth the wait time to construct this delicious concoction. I'm actually getting hungry thinking about it right now... This place is just 5 minutes from my house and there usually is always somewhat of a wait on weekends (sometimes a rather long wait), but with good reason. Show up early to get on the list! They are very cool about bringing out drinks and samples to everyone outside waiting for a table. I cannot say enough good things about Oregano's, this is one of our family go-to places and I'm certainly happy to have them here!

  • Erika W.

Our server Karen was so sweet! I went with my little sister and we ordered a 12" chicago pan pizza. We could only eat half and took the rest home. For dessert we ordered the cookie pizza. It comes partially baked and warm, and topped with ice cream. I recommend the cookie treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. One was more than my sister and I could eat. I think the prices here are very reasonable. This was my first visit.

Wow this place is way more amazing than the Oreganos I have been to in the Phoenix Metro area! Friendly, prompt service. The food is on point. Delicous. Got the Rush Hour slice. It was fresh, the crust was crispy, the toppings were flavorful. Atmosphere brighter and less cluttered. Very relaxing and laid back here. We will come back on our next trip to Tucson. :)

  • Michelle G.

My hubby and I love Oreganos. This location seems larger than the one on Speedway. The menus and prices are exactly the same. Their prices are great and their portions are large. Most recently we ordered the Pablo Picasso salad and El Diablo Shrimp Pasta. The salad is out of this world and the pasta is any carb lovers dream come true. This pasta is spicy, but you can request that they tune down the heat if you are wimpy like me. We had great service and will return soon.

    (4)
  • Taylor S.

My favorite resultant ever! The Pablo Picasso salad is amazing as is all of their pasta dishes! The service is always consistent and fast whether your ordering out or eating in!

  • Eric M.

This is the sort of place that offers up, what I would call, Italian comfort food. You know what you're gonna get, but there is nothing about the food experience that jumps off the page. I like it, and will likely go back again because it is somewhat convenient and the food is well prepared and tasty.

  • G M.

Awesome food. Portions are big so it's enough to share. Get the "guaca tony" appetizer Alfredo the dark The Vino Bambino salad And the lasagna Everything is soooo good and the goose 312 pale ale is really good. Service was good, music and overall ambiance We will definitely come back next time we are in the area

  • Jennifer Y.

Great wings and pizza. Love the service and the cutie T-Shirts are a must to purchase.

    (4)
  • Christopher K.

I don't understand the appeal of this restaurant. I think the music is far to loud but my biggest complaint is that the food is/was extremely salty. I ordered a 16" thin crust pepperoni pizza for my son and I and a Cork Screw pasta with marinara sauce and half a meatball. I would have left the restaurant after a few minutes because of the noise level if we weren't meeting Grandma there.

    (1)
  • Romni L.

One of our favorite restaurants! We have had multiple pasta dishes, pizza, the chocolate chip cookie dessert (yummy), guacamole appetizer, wedding soup, and salads. The food has always been consistently delicious and the service commendable. We even take our out of town guests here to eat with no complaints so far. The portions are huge!!! You can easily share an entree with another person unless you like really large meals. Please note they become extremely busy during dinner time, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. It is in your best interest to go early or at non-peak times.

    (4)
  • Ehryn T.

I love everything about this place, but most of all the PIZZA! I've been to a lot of places around tucson in search of the best and this place is in my top 5!! Calamari is delish and if you order a salad be prepared to share cause it's big! They also have take-out so that is a plus plus in my book. If you haven't tried them do it, you won't be disappointed : )

    (5)
  • Austin S.

This has been one of our favorite restaurants since before we moved to Tucson. For the price, the amount and quality of food received is pretty great. Most outstanding is the friendly, prompt service we have always received, even when the location is very busy. Definitely try the guacatony!!

    (5)
  • Jason B.

The food was good. We were here a little after 8 and it seemed like we were an inconvenience to be waited on. The male server had a "I dont want to be here" attitude. I woild try Oregano's again but maybe not this location.

  • Ernesto L.

My girlfriend bolo pasta was way overcooked was like mush and sauce had no flavor. The pizza slice tasted like cardboard sauce again no flavor poppa johns has better pizza and I hate poppa johns !!!! My big rig was just ok

  • Mike J.

My only complaint is that the serve Pepsi products. The calamari is excellent. Their pizza is some of the best. Great servers. Very good prices. We almost every time get the beefstro salad

    (4)
  • Subhash R.

Great food. If you tell them to make it crispy it is best. Week end is not good time unless you have time.

  • Crissi P.

Food is good, but it takes forever to get seated and then the food takes s long time, too. Only go if you've got nothing else going on that night.

  • Rachel M.

We only stopped by Oregano's because it was near our hotel and was open late on a weeknight. The font on the menu reminded me of Ren and Stimpy, which was a little worrisome, but it turned out to be a pretty nice place. Our server Ayla was super nice and checked in just often enough. We ordered a peach ale and a thin crust broccoli/spinach pizza with some stupid name. The pizza was really tasty - the crust was thin but not cracker-like and the broccoli/spinach mix was really finely chopped, so you weren't eating huge chunks of veggies in one bite. I mean, nobody wants their pizza to seem too healthy, right?

After waiting for over an hour AT ANOTHER Restaurant, we decided to leave and ended at Oreganos. Excellent. We went outside on their patio to eat as it was a lovely night. Everyone greeted us as soon as we hit the door. We were seated and bing bam boom we had our order taken. We shall return. Great fat free chocolate chip cookies and fat free ice cream. NOT ! So flippin yummy.

They do not have the quick lunch specials on the weekends. That is my only compliant. I just wanted something small to go and that was not possible.

Now I know why it's always packed at Oregano's! Our "Dining Trio" (Gary-husband, mom and I) visited here for our first culinary experience. It was hopping. We got there early enough that we were seated immediately. A friendy hostess showed us to our booth, where we studied the large menu, full of pizza, salads and other dish options. Pizzas are obviously a draw here. We had a young, very friendly and capable server. Gary loved his antipasto, served as a salad instead of separate items on a plate-arriving on a huge, oblong plate with a light olive oil-vinegar dressing. Really good. Mom's salad (I forget the name) was also tasty. I dined on the lasagna, a good and very dense version. I really liked the pasta sauce they used. We also ordered a thin-crust pizza, so we could try the goods in full (and boy, were we full!). The pizza was really big and good-the crust was like a lavosh crust. A little pricey but great, and they obviously used fresh herbs (true to the Oregano name). Decor is the "old" hip antique-y look. My mom got a kick out of the NY Post magazine cover reprints from the 40-s and 50s, framed and hung all over our section. She had read them as news in her day and age, and she remembered some of them. (Talk about feeling like an antique!) Easy parking, fun menu, upbeat, good eats. We'll be back!

Great food, excellent pizza, I love thin crust! The atmosphere was wonderful. Our waitress was fantastic. She talked in a fake, fun french accent with my daughter. Had a great time.

30+ family and friends gathered to celebrate my niece's graduation from high school. Although we reserved for 15, the team work hard to accommodate the additional 15. To top it off, it was all done with tons of smiles and laughter. The manager on duty ran a tight ship, I can't remember her name as this took place Thursday, May 22 2014 at 5:30pm-8:00pm and I am writing this review August 24, 2014. whoops...a tad bit late, however I wanted to ensure I mentioned how amazing the staff was as well as the food!!! Omg, everything was amazing. No claimants what so ever! It was so good that a hand full of us went back the next night for round 2! lol....Excellent experience!!!!

We have eaten here at place on Orange Grove in Tucson before and it was very good but we just got pizza to go and it was so salty it was inedible - i dont know what they do but i even tasted too much salt in the crust - it wasnt just the cheese and sausage - they added tons to the crust - i think my days of eating at Oreganos are over. They need to ratchet back on the salt. I am not sure why my review just disappeared - is someone getting rid of the low reviews just to make them look better? reposting this to make sure it is listed..........

This was some good pasta and pizza. I enjoyed the friendless of the staff and how they have a good selection of pizza and pasta and sauces. The prices were very good. I only wish they had a few more lunch options, though.

This is one of our Tucson favorites! The pizza, subs, pasta... Everything is great! I recently had the house salad with chicken in the "big" size and was impressed with the size of the salad for less than $7! The drinks are great and so is service- even on busy nights. Don't forget to order a pizookie for dessert! They are the best!

place was alright nothing special. I cant even remember what i had to eat but the girl that served us was not exactly the best server in the world. My mother in law loves to ask questions and takes her time in ordering (annoying at times) but i looked up at the waitress and she was rolling her eyes which i understood but still you don't do that at the table. the food was eh and the service was eh prob. wont be going back Alex

I love this place but I feel it has gone down in the service area. Before I would have rated this place 5 stars, excellent service and excellent food. They still have excellent food which sustains the 3 stars but for my last visit, service is a zero. It was dinner time and the place was somewhat packed. Before, this wasn't a problem at all but tonight it seemed like all the staff had no idea what was going on. A group of them were standing by the front desk, another group in the middle of the restaurant and others just blankly walking around the joint. We were seated right away but for anyone to notice us took an extremely long time. Then after they took our drink order it took them another 15 minutes just for some ice water. Meanwhile, the restaurant has seated the place like a chuck-e-cheese. Unfortunately we were placed in the "people with kids" section which made our date night unbearable because for some reason it was the night for unruly children. I know restaurants can't control who comes to eat, but at least even out the place. We asked to be seated outside while waiting for our drinks because we figured it wouldn't be problem. It took a total of 10 minutes for someone to go ask if it was okay and then another for us to be finally seated outside. Unfortunately for us, we had the pleasure of dealing with a waitress that wasn't too happy that she had more people move to her section that was previously placed in someone else's section. All in all this was a really uncomfortable night. We were left most of the time in silence and it was really an unpleasant experience. I hope they step up their A-game because their spicy pastas are just too good to stop going here because of a downfall in service.

We come to Tucson 2-3 times a year and look forward to going to Oregano's to eat. Everything we have eaten here in Tucson and in Scottsdale have been great. Sure wish they would come to Oklahoma. Donna & Freddy Webb Claremore, Ok

Wow, amazing. The thin crust pesto pizza is one of the best pizzas I've ever had. We also had the stuffed one-o and that was awesome. Of course topped it off with the cookie desert, easily the best desert you'll ever have.

The Location: Orange Grove/Oracle. Near Tucson Mall. Good location. Easy to get in and out of as far as the parking lot. The Food: The food was not too bad. Once I actually received mine it was not bad. I don't think its as great as everyone says it is but I can just say "Meh..." I ordered the Wings while my wife got one of the salads and the kids ordered Angel Hair Pasta. The Service: The service was the worst thing about the meal. The waiter was forgetting just about everything and it took him forever to get back to the table. This may not have been his fault though as more of the management. They seemed to have had him at too many tables all spread apart. Overall: I had a bad experience tonight and this is the third time. After this, I am not going back. For some reason they cannot get their food "timing" correct. My wife's and my kids food came out within about 15 minutes. My wife finished her entire "dinner" size salad and my kids finished their food before mine even came out. I basically had to watch them eat and they had to watch me eat. This is the third time its happened with different dishes. I just don't understand what is going on with this place. I want so badly to like it but they gave me the final nail in the coffin not to go back.

Our favorite must-stop whenever we are in town. We love the Italian sausage, wings, and the big beefstro salad. Yumm! We had incredible service. We were short on time and our server made the whole meal happen in record time. She even gave us to go cups for our sodas. The sausage had the perfect amount of spice and was so flavorful. I got the hot wings which were more like a pizza sauce type of spice rather than buffalo flavor and it was oooh sooo good. My husband got the BBQ wings and loved them as well. The Big Beefstro salad was full a flavor and the portion was very generous. This should be high on your list of restaurants to visit if you are taking a trip to Tucson. They have a great beer selection and nearly everything I have tried on their menu has been amazing!

  • Roland W.

The food is delicious, don't get me wrong. But the service is TERRIBLE. Every time I've gone I seem to draw a server with a bad attitude. Any questions I have are answered in a surly tone, and requests I make are treated like they are completely unreasonable. Not to mention that on average it takes at least 30-40 minutes to get your food, if not much, much longer. I'd recommend just doing carryout, so you don't have to feel guilty that you are infringing on a server's personal space.

Went to this oreganos about a year ago and had horrible service....we decided to give it another chance and they completely redeemed themselves!! Our server Taylor was absolutely amazing! Honestly probably some of the best service we've seen in a long time! She was extremely friendly, attentive, and really seemed to care! Needless to say after that, oreganos gained another regular!! Thanks Taylor!!

Cute place, nice waitress and very pleasant food, Italian with a Southwest twist. Enjoyed our lunch; will be coming back with friends.

They provide pizza dough for the kids to play with while dinner is being cooked. The waitress new to ask whether we wanted the kids meals as soon as possible too. Great service.

  • Jason H.

The lunch specials are great... Our service was very good as well... My main comment would be that the stuffed pizzas take a long time to make and may or may not be worth it... This place does fill up so come early for dinner to beat the rush....

Pizza and their "bowl of pasta" were delicious. The wait for our food was not bad and our waitress, Alisa, was very good. We will definitely be back again.

This was my first visit to the newer Oregano's location on Orange Grove, next to Swensens. Awesome! I got there with my dad before the lunch crowd kicked in, because Oreagno's can get BUSY. We got kind of a weird table next to the server's area so it was a little congested. But Oregano's has nice lunch specials and today it was a huge pizza slice of the day, and this is a massive pizza! My dad had to take it home. And it was like under six bucks. I got the never-ending Bollo pasta with marinara sauce. I did not get a never-ending follow up dish however because it was quite filling. My mouth wanted more, my tummy said NO! It also had a couple of pieces of bread. I would enjoy a bit more marinara sauce on the pasta but it was tasty. I polished it off with a big glass of ice tea. Oregano's is a fine place to go with a big appetite, but be prepared because it gets busy here.

This is almost four, but I just can't quite get there. Finally was able to get in and visit the new Oregano's. The first time I tried, it was an hour and a half wait. No thanks. Went with some friends for lunch on a Friday. Service was good, almost too good. Our appetizer and bar order made it to the table before our waiter brought the water and sodas. The fried ravioli were good. But they seem like something that comes frozen and is fried to order. Its hard to beat deep fried cheese though. We split a pizza and overall it was good. Nothing spectacular but good. And for dessert we split a cookie. I have had cast iron cookies that were better, but this wasn't terrible. Overall, its a good solid go to for typical/average food. The patio is nice, and they have large selection of beer, so I will probably be back. You should know that it has been packed in the evenings and they do not take reservations. So get there early, or go late. Better yet, send someone to wait for a table for ya ;)

  • Mike S.

Good sandwiches, and salads. But the thin style pizza is flavorless and the deep dish pizzas take nearly an hour to prepare and the crust tastes like Bisquick mix. The toppings are watery and basically slide off. Oh! And the cheese isn't very tasty at all. A few of the pasta dishes are decent. I'll give 3 stars. Warning!! I like spicy food but the Italian sausage is WAY too hot. What the heck?

  • Leah R.

Fresh, upbeat, fun and simply delicious ! Modern European Italian cuisine, I would say ! Love the thin pizza crust, it's very light, paper thin and baked to perfection. Stuffed mushrooms are absolutely adorable, with a tangy note of basil, oregano and white pepper. Deep dish cookie is divine and big enough to share with you and your loved one :) Service is fast, waitresses are cute, young and very helpful ! Highly recommended !

Food was great as usual, staff was very pleasant as well. Service however wasVERY SLOW. Waiter said it would be 25 took them 45 minutes to get my lasagna for lunch. I had to hurry and eat because I had an appointment to get to.... Next time I will call ahead with my order so I don't have to wait next time for lunch.

Love Oreganos! Food is good, service is always friendly. The manager that was on tonight, Taylor, was awesome! She visited our table and made us feel so welcome! Very nice to see a manager that really cares about the customers! We will definitely be back!

  • Kristy N.

Woo hoo! Yippee! I am so glad that Oregano's is finally open near me! It was packed as we anticipated but were able to sit at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and the service was very good. Our only complaint is that we ordered 2 appetizers and an entree to share. We received the first one (toasted ravioli) and 30 seconds later our entree arrived - not cool. Then when we were almost finished eating, the 2nd appetizer (bruschetta) arrived - the person who brought it out gave some lame excuse that "it wasn't perfect the first time so I made the kitchen re-do it" and we didn't believe that for a minute since it showed up literally 30 minutes later. The ravioli and the pasta dish were absolutely wonderful but we would never have the brushcetta again - the tomatoes were cut too large making it too hard to eat and it was a bit salty.

We had the large deep dish stuffed pizza. There was four of us and no one could finish more than 1 slice. Pizza was good. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. I like this place and I will go back.

Too much oregano in the sauce, that's all you taste. Got the stuffed pizza, cheese was watery, dough no flavor. Don't understand why this place is so busy. Third time we've tried it and probably won't go back.

I really love the stuffed turkey sandwich here! The staff is friendly and food portions are huge! Best place to eat for comfort foot!

Excellent place for thin crust pizza done right. I have also tried their lunch pan pizza which is also excellent. Next up I'll try the stuffed pizza which I have been told takes an hour to make once you order it.

I'm giving Oregano's five stars because of their meatballs. I never thought any meatballs would compare to my family's homemade Italian recipe, but these sure do! They are so, so delicious. I had them along with their Angel Hair Pasta and spicy marinara sauce. The pasta was delicious as well. The sauce had a little too much of a kick for me, but like I said... The meatballs are amazing that almost nothing else matters! Seriously. Try them. We got there early, I would say around 5:30 or so, and there was about a 15 minute wait - Not bad. The atmosphere is neat, and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. The manager even offered us a free pizza cookie for dessert since it was our first time there. Needless to say, it was super scrumptious!

I have been here a couple times in two different locations. I don't have anything but good things to say.! Such an excellent twist on Italian food. If your in the Tucson area or Flagstaff area this is a place to try. Reasonable prices and excellent service. 5 stars for sure.

Service was very well, atmosphere was pleasant. Food was great. Wife had pasta, I had pizza. Both were delicious. staff were very attentive. We will return many times in future,

Disappointed that the new menu eliminated the half sandwich option, and except for the current cole slaw recipe, the food is good -- and plentiful.

I'm glad there is an Oregano's on my side of town!!! Their portions are huge and can't go wrong with the pizzookie!!!! With that being said, our experience was just ok! Server was trying way way way too hard. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread with marinara and the BOOM dip that everyone seems to talk about.... They took far too long to reach the table. So long, that one of our entrees had arrived first. After letting them know we still hadn't received our appetizers, the lady goes to the kitchen, sets down the salad and I see her pick up our apps and hand them to our server.... And if you have been in this location, you know that some tables allow you a viewing into their open kitchen window! After enjoying our (Oregano) filled appetizers our 2 entrees arrived. Can we say HUGE portions!!! Wow. And we ordered the Beefstro jr salad and the big rig pasta with sausage... The Big Rig was hot and spicy and a wonderfully prepared. The Beefstro salad was also a great size, but had these awful "burnt" onions on top. They were so disgusting that we had to ask for boxes for our appetizer and pasta because the burnt taste overwhelmed anything after that. After telling our server about the horrible flavor, manager came to our table to tell us, yes the onions were prepared correctly and they always taste and look like that, (claiming it was also a fresh salad and not reheated from them bringing it to our table before our appetizers).... And she seemed kinda annoyed that we weren't happy, but then discounted our dinner.... Which was nice because we only ate like a fourth of our meal. This place had too many issues in such a short visit on a slow night but I'd definitely be interested in trying this location again, hoping they all just had an off night....

Overall: 3.5, rounded up (mostly for their fantastic Caesar salad!) I went here with a friend that was visiting from out of town upon recommendations from some people here in Tucson. As one of my buddies told me, "notice they only hire pretty people. They're like the Abercrombie of pizza." ....notice taken. We arrived, and were told it was a 25-30 minute wait (7:30ish on a Friday night) but that we could pre-order a stuffed or pan pizza since they take 45-60 minutes to make. We didn't mind waiting, and there was a bar right when you walk in. My friend and I looked at the pizza menu, and ended up pre-ordering a pan pizza to our liking. Smooth process, wouldn't mind doing it again. I went to the bar and ordered a tall Blue Moon; at $6 a pop, they aren't necessarily cheap, but I've paid worse. Friendly bartenders. As an added plus, it is allowable to take your drink with you outside on the patio while you wait. We finally got seated, and we waited longer than I expected for a waitress to even notice us. Putting that aside, one came to us and acknowledged that we pre-ordered our pan pizza. My friend and I also decided to split their normal sized Caesar salad. This absolute BEHEMOTH came out and we kind of just stared. This thing was the Empire State Building of salads. We fully split it, and I was almost kind of full just from the salad. Not only was it large and in charge...but it was one of the best Caesars I've had in a long time. Perfect tasting dressing (slightly tangy) and just the right amount. I would go back and get the junior one with chicken as my meal. Anyway, I'll stop drooling over the Caesar for now. The pizza came out, and it was quite the pan of cheese as well. We ordered it with pepperoni, carmelized onions, and Hatch green chile. The waitress served us our first piece, and we went at it. I did enjoy the pizza, don't get me wrong...but I probably wouldn't get a pan pizza again. It is just too filling and sopping with grease for me to not be completely guilt-ridden for a week. The base of it (stringy Wisconsin cheese and hearty tomatoes) was good alone, and the toppings we had enhanced its taste overall. The crust was average, and I actually prefer Uno's crust over this one. Cut into eight pieces, we could only manage two pieces a piece because of the filling salad earlier. For two (minus the beer), it was $30 pre-tip. Not too bad, considering we had a lot of leftovers. I'll be going back not only to try the thin-crust pizza (as this looked promising as well), but to get the Caesar salad.

I liked it! Service at lunch was a little slow for party of 5, but the salads are HUGE HUGE (like share with 3 or 4 people huge) and looked GREAT (I did the smaller single salad and it was plenty for lunch) and the sandwiches were solid. If a fan of the "Big Salad" you have found your new home.....Great fries, just an overall cool place. Worth another visit, for sure! A great idea would be to split a regular size salad and also split a sandwich or small pizza....you wouldnt leave hungry!

I hope this is the correct location in Tucson I'm writing about. Just off of Oracle road is the location we visited last Friday. We were truly amazed at the quality of service we received from the time we arrived to time we finally left. Ayala was our server at a booth in the bar area and she was Fantastic!!!! We had a party of 6 + a 2 yr old. Ayala was very attentive, super friendly and went out of her way to give us samples of 2 different alcoholic drinks. Luis the manager also came over to our table to check on us and make sure we were happy and well taken care of. Very friendly. The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. The food was Great!! Couldn't ask for better. If we ever have the opportunity to go back to Tucson, we will definitely go back to Oregano's on W Orange rd. To all other restaurants, Take lessons from Oregano's on what great service is supposed to be like. They got the right stuff.

I don't know if it's bad luck, timing or just the restaurant but I have had nothing but bad experiences here. The girl always predicts a wait time that is FAR less than the actual time. Last time we went there was one girl writing down names and another server decided she would come "help" with seating. We had already been waiting 15-20 minutes to be seated and our name was taken down on a list. A couple that walked in after us asked if they needed to add their name and the server(who shouldn't have been seating people to begin with) said no I'll remember you. 10 minutes later she seats the couple(ahead of us) and walks up to me and begins with "since they were here before you.." To which I interrupted that they certainly were not. She ran off and fetched a manager who also didn't show up for 10 minutes whose solution was to ask the couple to move so we could have their table. Why should these customers who had now been seated for quite awhile have to move because of an Oregano's mistake? The other option was to sit outside. We had our infant son with us and it was about 50 degrees out. We were told there was nothing else they could do. Nothing like comping drinks while we waited for an available table, a discount for the blatant mistakes on their part, nothing! They made no attempt to rectify the situation or I'd be willing to give them a higher rating and possibly go back. Their staff(including managers) needs some serious training.

Alright....I did it. I put all my judgements aside and I went to a place with portion sizes that could feed a dinosaur. I don't plan on making this a habit, but it was worth a try. Overall, I'd say the food was A-OK and the service was excellent and super friendly. Known for the long waits, we actually lucked out and were seated right away around 7:30. Personally, I don't equate huge portions for (seemingly) low prices with good value. The funny thing is that my boyfriend and I managed to spend $60 at dinner on two beers, an appetizer (guacamole with a crispy thin crust), small salad and a small pizza! So, for me, the value here is in the great service more than the food. The food here is nothing revolutionary, more like a 3.5, and quite typical of American chain food, but it was tasty. I'm not sure if this is the best place for salads (a ton of lettuce, a little of everything else), which is what I ordered for my dinner, but our thin crust pizza was loaded with cheese, pepperoni, sausage and onion. After one square I was stuffed. Oregano's is great for families and perhaps large parties. They do have the Chicago deep dish pizzas, but those take 45 minutes, so plan ahead and order those in advance. If I come back, it'll be for the Chicago pizza.

Horrible, horrible service. We've tried this place three times thinking maybe it was a bad night each time. But no, they have no interest in providing anything remotely similar to good service. I'm going to tell you about this last visit but it's a repeat of our previous experiences. We walked in on a weeknight and no hostess was in sight. What I assumed to be waitresses were standing by the kitchen arguing over whose turn it was to seat us when the bartender walked up and offered to seat us. There was a long wait between the time we were seated and the time we ordered. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees and a drink. 10 minutes passed before our drink arrived. A long while later our entrees arrived cold and one wasn't what we ordered. The pasta we got had scant sauce on it, 80% of that dish was dry noodles. Our appetizer never arrived. The waitress didn't bother to check on us until after one of us had eaten half our meal. When she showed up we told her one of the entrees wasn't what was ordered and that we never got our appetizer. Her only reply was "oh, i told them what you wanted." So we got the appetizer to go and left with only one of us having eaten dinner. We live close by which is why we kept giving this place a try but we won't EVER waste our money here again. This happens every single time. The first time it happened we said something to the manager and were given a gift card for the next visit. Then it happened again and were given a free entree. I don't care if they paid for free meals for the next month, we won't go back.

I haven't quite decided on this place... My dish was really good (a mediterranean pasta), but the garlic bread and other dishes were greasy and heavy. It seems like one of those places that caters to "Americans"... Greasy, deep-fried in heavy oil and loaded down with cheese. This is a great place if you're in to that sort of thing. However, I shouldn't just complain. Like I said, my dish was very good - light and fresh. I imagine there are other such items on the menu, it will just take some digging to find them.

Easily the worst service that I've ever had in a restaurant during my 31 years on the planet. There was no discernible management working on Friday night (3/8/2012)... Seriously, what restaurant has no management overseeing operations on the busiest night of the week? The food was okay, but even 1 star is too much, given the terrible service. I should have just walked out while we were waiting for our check for 45 minutes. I suggest that you do. Due to lack of available management, I was forced to call corporate headquarters at 480-829-0898

People seem to like this place. Regional chain pizza joint. Decent food. Decent service. Mid-century moderne decor.nThey were doing a good business. Not knowing the menu, we ended up with the cracker crust. Not bad, but not a fave. We'll have to try a thicker crust another time.

After craving Greek food...and being at the Foothills Mall, we decided to go to "My Big Fat Greek Restaurant" only to find a note on the door stating they closed that location...yet all the lights on the inside and building lights outside were on, weird. So off to Oregano's we went. Great atmosphere! Decent service. Average food. My good friend AJD and I split the dinner salad, and the Bistro Classic pizza. Both were unremarkable. The server was good, and played along with our silliness, the price was good for the food we ordered, but the food just didn't cut it...the salad was not impressive, with more than half of it the cruddy part of the romaine, and the pizza was just "meh". Not going back anytime soon.

Excellent service! Though the wait was long due to popularity, they still managed to make you feel attended to. I ordered the calamari and boom dip to start and both were satisfactory. The real treat came with the meat balls ans pan style pizza. The meat balls we re smoky and had a nice, pleasant aroma and spice to them. The pizza was well seasoned not over cooked and very thick. Loved the atmosphere regardless of the many children. Would recommend to family and friends.

Ok, I love Oregano's. Its maybe not the best Italian food you'll ever have but I really like eating here. I have always had good service and my food as always been great. Its a fun restaurant for the family but the wait to get seated can be a little long...because its popular!

This was our third trip to this place and I have to say that it was by far the best trip so far. It started off weird when the waitress addressed us as "gentlemen". Hello, I know my hair is short but really? I got the garlic chicken lasagne and my hubbs got the bollo pasta with meatballs. Everything was very tasty and didn't take too long to come out. Portion size was just right and we didn't leave with that ill/full feeling. The only disappointment was that there weren't more selections for dessert. Something light like italian ice or spumoni would have been nice.

I am not a big fan of Pizza but Oregano's changed that! Amazing deep dish pan pizza!!! It takes a while to cook but is well worth the wait. Get a salad to hold you over - they are wonderful too - and large! And to top it off, they have Cookie Pizza for dessert - it doesn't get any better than that!!!

I have been a long time fan of Oreganos. The pizza is not only delicious, large, and satisfying but it has a certain x factor that other pizzas seem to lack. Try it out, you will not regret it one bit.

What a shame! I had a problem even giving one star! Everyone has been talking excitedly about this place, and since I work up the block, finally took my husband and went for lunch yesterday. The place wasn't packed, but moderately busy. When we entered, instead of the hostess letting us know there was a wait for a table, she simply asked for our name. When I asked if there was a wait, she said "yes." I had to ask "how long." This reminds me of conversations with teenagers! I looked around for a place to sit. Nothing. The hostess offers for us to sit at the bar and "have a drink until your table is ready." Did I mention it was 12:30 pm?? I didn't like being steered for a drink at a bar. We sat down and had waters (okay -- we were already getting the gist of what lunch will be like and just *had* to!). A few minutes later (far less than 15-20 minutes, the hostess comes over, asks if we'd like to eat at the bar. We say no, and she leads us to our table. We took our waters with us just in case. Waitress was nice, but not very attentive. She does explain that if we order a deep dish pie, the wait is 45 min to an hour. Want thin crust? At least 30 min wait. "Everything is made to order, you know!" We order fried calimari as an appetizer, the Oregano's junior salad (which was huge) and the pasta bowl with a meatball and a sausage. Calimari comes first, and I thought they brought us mozarella sticks. The marinara was sour (almost tasted like it had turned). Before we had a chance for a few bites, the salad and pasta dishes arrive. I hate that -- give me a chance to "enjoy" the app before you throw food at me. The calimari were tender, but -- really?? They were strips and not what I expect of fried calimari. My salad was completely inedible. It looked as if they had made the salad hours prior, tossed some cheese on top, and brought it to the table. The pasta tasted as if it had been cooked earlier, and dunked in hot water. It was clompy and tough. Same "iffy" marinara as with the calimari. The meatball was delicious! The sausage was so spicy, I couldn't eat a bite, and I love spicy food. We ask for the manager. Some young (under 25) girl with heavy eye makeup, dressed all in black comes to the table, speaks WAY too loudy, and becomes defensive. She tells us that their produce was delivered that morning, that salads are made to order. We ask her to look at my limp, sorry-looking salad. She says that "maybe the kitchen put too much dressing on it, but it is fresh!". She does not offer to comp the salad (we didn't bother complaining about anything but the calimari (she said it is frozen but cooked to order) and the salad). After we just looked at her for a while, she offered to bring us another salad. "No thank you!" Ever try to eat another dish when your tummy is still reeling from a bad meal? She then offers to make us a fresh salad "to go." My husband just accepted because obviously that was as good as it would get. What a shame -- great, convenient location, but imitation manager (real managers aren't defensive), poor kitchen, and terrible food!

its a shame, the food is good but the service was just horrible. they sat 2 other tables before us, the fries took 30 minutes!!!!(how does that happen??) and the thin crust pizza came out at the same time as the fries! while taking our order, we asked a question and the server turned to another table to present their check while we waited for an answer! that was rude!

I had a hard time giving this place even one star. Ordered take out margarita thin crust pizza and oreganos salad. There was an hour wait to pick it up. It reminded me of old fashioned campbells tomato soup on top of a soda cracker. The salad was boring. Cannot for the life of me figure out why it was so busy!

  • Jane K.

We went to Oreganos on sunaday, and it was moderetly busy. We sat outside, but had to move inside because of allergy problems. We got a new waitress, and she was exellent! She was helpful, nice, and really funny! I ordered the pesto pasta, as well as many pther people at my table. It was very good, and large enough to split. I didn't understand the "bread bowl" though. There was a cracker type bowl around my pasta, and it just confused me. I tried a sweet potato fry and they were great! They had just the right amount of seasonings and spice. My only complaints are the wait and the parmasen cheese! It was shredded in a plastic black bucket, and served a crappy, small, ladle thing! They could've done sonething nicer and cleaner! Aside that, overall Oreganos is a great place with great food, just don't come there in a hurry.

I wanted to share a fantastic evening we just had at the Orange Grove location. This was the third time we have frequented Oregano's. Our second visit (carry out Pizza wasn't as great as I thought it would be and in passing I mentioned it to Susan (Manager). We weren't trying to complain and we told her that we liked Oregano's too much to let one visit turn us away. 15 minutes later she came back with a medium pizza apologizing for any issues. We were floored, but very appreciative. We weren't looking for anything, we were just stating an experience. Any way tonight we were going to try the wings ( LOVE THE HOT SAUCE). Bartender AYLA educated me that it is made with 7 different peppers. Since we always ordered the pizza we decided to try the pasta tonight but once we ate the wings, and the gracious gift of pizza, guess what we still haven't tried the pasta. Once it came we were totally full. So we packed it to-go and I guess we have to wait until tomorrow to try the pasta. I don't usually write to restaurants however our experience was so fantastic I had too. Our bartenders AYLA and MASSAI were so polite, friendly and fun we decided to cancel our seating reservation and just hang with them. Nice job SUSAN, AYLA and MASSAI. Home run from your new favorite customers/fans.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
