Old Times is amazingly great! The waitresses seem to really enjoy their work and are constantly around to check on you, refill your water/ice tea and will bring a carafe of tea if you are really thirsty. The menu is so diverse and full of diner/truck stop food! Huge, I mean HUGE portions of food. The breakfasts are amazing (they are open until 2 pm) real potatoes, massive eggs, just a ton of food. I've had the Chef Salad for lunch and it's a huge pile of lettuce, eggs, turkey and ham, just an onslaught. Breakfast omelettes that go on and on. You can find shrimp here, eggs benedict, chili omelettes, Italian style. So good! Huge real pieces of texas toast. And the prices are so low for the quality and quantity. It's relaxed here and nice. Lots of families come in. Feels like you're in a house, and it sure seems like it was a house once. There's a back patio for smoking. Wonderful place for a hearty meal. Can't wait to try their burgers and sandwiches and soups. Nothing has dissatisfied me or any of the people I've brought with me. Huevos Ranchos hmmm. The reviewer who noted the bathrooms: not sure, never seen a problem in at least 10 visits to this place. Clean everywhere and it's been operating for years.

This is a pretty good little place, I would give it more stars but there are too many things that make me say "next time I might go somewhere else". I have been here twice because it is really close to my work and convenient but here is the positive and needs improvements: Positive: The prices are pretty reasonable, the portion sizes are generous, the food reminds you of something you would get in your grandma's kitchen Needs Improvement: They are so super slow, the place looks really dirty (not sure if it is just all the antiques that don't look like they get dusted or if it is just not clean), the people who work there seem friendly enough at first but then it is almost like they forget you exist after your first encounter with them, the place needs to be updated (carpet, light switches... they were cracked and broken, I mean come on how much do those cost? I thought about going out and buying them new ones, chairs seemed like they were something I would have seen when I was growing up in the late 80's) Overall I will probably go back because I dont have to actually eat their because they do pick up and like I said it is really close to my work.

Food isn't bad. They DO NOT SUBSTITUTE ANYTHING! So, something like a "Grand Slam" from Dennys that everyone else serves on earth, Old Times does not. So the same breakfast exeeds $9.50. This place is no where good enough to be so staunch about such things. ALSO, it's filthy. It's a dive place which is fine, but it's just filthy dirty, carpets, it needs paint, walls are filthy dirty and have been for years. No attention to cleanliness, DOES concern me about the back of the house as well. Never gotten sick there, but one would wonder why not.

I just recently made a trip out to Texas from California and happened upon this place. I love truckstop diners and roadside cafes, greasy spoons, breakfast hotspots and pretty much anyplace that serves traditional morning foods be they American breakfasts or any other part of the world (I've had an amazing Thai porridge that makes me want to travel half-way around the world just to get another bowl). This is in fact the type of place that makes you want to return! So much so that I did. Originally I had planned to take Interstate 10 on the way to Texas and then take a more northerly route on the way back. Time constraints and a hankering for this place's delicious homemade biscuits and gravy make me take the same way back. I timed it out so that I could get breakfast at this place (which meant driving a bit later into the night than I should have... but totally worth it). The servers were happy. I mean, that's odd to say I guess. Most times you'll say "The servers were nice." or, "The waitress was friendly." etc. Friendly and nice they certainly may have been, but I can't imagine a better way to start my day than with the infectious, genuine happiness of another human being. My coffee cup never ran dry (important on a road trip). My eggs were perfectly cooked (I got over-medium which some places seem to have trouble with... either they come out over-hard or far too runny to be considered anything other than over-easy). The bacon was crisp but still chewy, which meant it hadn't been drying out in a pile for hours. The last thing I'll say is that the prices are the most shocking part of this place. I got a "steal" my first meal by getting one of the early morning specials (served until 9am or 9:30 I believe). I saved enough and was enjoying my "vacation food" that I decided it was appropriate to have dessert with breakfast. Apple Pie ala mode. While it wasn't fresh Apple Pie, it was freaking awesome. Having to choose between the "fresh" Apple Pie I had in New Mexico and the frozen reheated pie this place kept on hand, I'd choose this place's pie any day of the week. Come to think of it, this pie was better than the last home made apple pie I had a few months ago. Maybe they do make it and just don't serve enough of it, so they freeze it. Anyway, I digress. If you're on the outskirts of Tucson you have to have breakfast here! If you're on the opposite side of the city or still a ways away on the interstate, HOLD OUT for this joint!

Seriously, the name of this place sums it all up. This place looks really, really old! The food however is very decent and at a good price. It's your simple, all american breakfast. The favorite thing I ordered was the silver dollar pancakes.....soooooo good!

The restaurant and both restrooms were filthy and were saturated in a foul smell. The food was sub-par, ...barely edible, which may explain why they serve large portions (quantity over quality) . The service staff were as friendly as they could be having to withstand the stank emanating from this dumpster of a restaurant.
