I still say that Cilantro's is missing a big market by not opening for breakfast around here. Sunday morning, Jerry Bob's was packed with families. PACKED! So, they offer the usual breakfast fare - eggs, omelets, pancakes, french toast, you get the gist. I had the tamale breakfast which included a beef tamale with something that is supposed to be red chili. It wasn't really good but I've been craving tamales, so it'll do. It came with eggs, beans, delicious salsa and a flour tortilla. I'd never heard of someone eating a tamal and a tortilla, but OK. The kid pancakes are mickey mouse shaped. Since you all understand that the shape of the pancake makes it taste better, this is a plus. The waitress was nice and our coffees cups were always kept filled. It was good, not spectacular. A bonus is that it was very inexpensive. Now, I've heard that other Jerry Bob's are only open for breakfast & lunch, Is that right? This one is open for dinner. In fact, they advertise a surf & turf (popcorn shrimp & steak dinner) for $9.99. They also have a Friday night fish fry for $8.99 and 50% off desserts. I appreciate them making an effort to try to keep people coming to their establishment.

We will be back... We went for breakfast at 10 on a weekday morning. The food was awesome and affordable. The service wasn't great (why I chose 4 not 5 stars). We had to flag someone down to get some coffee, and only got one offer to refill (when our food was served). Our waitress wasn't friendly and seemed annoyed while waiting on us, but it wasn't busy, and we couldn't figure out what her problem was. If we get that kind of service in the future it may influence our decision to eat there, but for now we're willing to try our luck their again.

My husband and I stopped at the Catalina location for lunch--we were less than impressed. Service was ok, but when the food got to our table, it was another story. My husband had ordered the "open faced turkey sandwich" and after a few bites I asked him how it was. He let me know the turkey tasted like it was turning bad. I tasted it--he wasn't kidding. YUCK! When the waitress came around, he let her know, but all she did was thank him for letting her know. When it was time to pay for our meals, there was no discount for inedible food or any apoligizes for the meal he couldn't eat. We will NOT be going back to any Jerry Bob's location. The gravy is canned--not by any means "home cooking" and the food was less than average. If you think this chain is a good or great place to eat, than I feel sorry for you. Learn to cook. If you can read, you can cook--it isn't rocket science.

Five stars all day long! I can't believe I didn't try this place before! I miss good ol' down home cookin, so I was excited to find menu options that are greasy and smothered in gravy, because gravy. Their biscuits are fabulous, and my eggs were cooked just the way I like them! My husband ordered his usual two egg and sausage breakfast. He looked pretty happy. The service was nice and quick. We were never in need for a coffee refill, and everyone seemed to be having a good time! We will come back someday when we lie to the kids and tell them we are grocery shopping, but really having an impromptu date. Best. Parents. Ever!

Tucson's version of an east coast diner -- that is not open all night... okay so the similarity will be only on certain menu items. Only open for breakfast and lunch (until 2PM I believe). The location on the east side has REALLY great staff, super friendly and engaging. I have only ever eaten breakfast here. It is hard to mess up breakfast, and I only do breakfast here if I am too lazy to drive "into" town (I live in Vail) to go somewhere better. This is solid food, nothing to write home about but it is not bad either. The hubby had the "monsoon omelette" which he really liked, I had what I think was called the Santa Fe. It was smothered hashbrowns, eggs and a tortilla... I liked it. If I return, it will mostly be on the great service we received.

We live just down the road and don't come here often, but when we do, it's good service. The Jerry Bobs on the NW side (on Thornydale) is where I used to go for Sunday breakfast with my parents until the staff decided they weren't going to be pleasant anymore. So, I was hesitant to try this one, but it's not bad. The only strange thing is that my husband asked if they did a military discount (he was paying, so whatever) and they do, but the woman made a big deal about it was only good for his portion of the meal and/or his drink, I can't remember which. It was odd, but we didn't mind. The food isn't spectacular and it's probably going to kill you if you eat too much of it, but it's worth stopping in if you're hungry for breakfast.

JB's serves up a delicious breakfast no matter what you get. I have had their pancakes, hash-browns, and chicken fried steak among the other regular breakfast fare and it's all good. The coffee is good, the service is always excellent, and the place is super clean. The counter is great if you prefer to dine alone. I have never had lunch or dinner there, but I bet it's pretty good too.

As a local Rita Rancher, I frequent this place more than I should. This location is easily better than most others. They definitely have great service, especially once you become a regular and great food. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the chicken fried steak and eggs. They can get a little busy on weekend mornings, but this is mainly due to the lack of breakfast options in the area. The longest I have ever had to wait is about 5 minutes.

I never thought I would be giving 4 stars to a place like Jerry Bob's, but this specific location deserves it. I found myself too lazy to cook breakfast yesterday morning and since we are saving for an upcoming vacation, Jerry Bob's being so cheap was the place to go. My husband and I had the green chili-swiss burger special, and let me tell you, I haven't had a burger this good in a long time. The meat patty was juicy and flavorful, with a good amount of green chilies and a generous slice of swiss cheese. My hubby and I loved it. My son had the full serving of biscuits and gravy, which included 2 sausage patties and 2 eggs. He loved it, I got a little taste of it and they were pretty good, my daughter had the classic hash browns, eggs and toast which was also good. This is food that is simple, but I have found that too many places, including other Jerry Bob's, can't get it right. Server was friendly and cheery, coffee cups were refilled often and water was brought to the table without us having to ask for it. The bill came to 30 dlls plus the tip and for 2 adults and 2 kids that no longer eat the kids menu, I find it to be very decent.

This place is close to home and as cheap as it gets for a sit down meal. I think the entire menu is under $8 for all entrees. I indulged in the steak and eggs and was very pleased. The service was stellar and it had a down home atmosphere that reminded me of being home in Alabama.

Have been to this chain many times in the past but this is my first visit to the location off of Houghton. It's one of the smaller locations and can get packed pretty easily so make sure you get here before a lunch or dinner rush. I came in about 9 AM during the weekday and the staff was the most friendly staff I've ever encountered at a Jerry Bob's. They kept the coffee flowing as I was waiting for a friend and was able to graze over the very easy to read simple menu. Nothing but good old American breakfast staples here. Everything is homemade and there's not one thing I wouldn't try at least two or three times. Make sure you try one of the omelettes there've a good portion size and come with your choice of sides. This is a great go to breakfast spot when you're not sure what you're in the mood for but still want something hearty to get the day going. Come to this location for smiles a good attitude and good simple breakfast food in southern Tucson. Faves: green chilis and cheese omelette.

This place is absolutely disgusting. I couldn't believe it. Trash on the floor, trashcan overflowing, and flies everywhere! When I mean everywhere, I mean everywhere even the walls and kitchen(from what you could see from the front) I would never eat here again. The only okay thing was the service. They seemed to be friendly and hard working. But I would never ever go back here. I couldn't even eat my food it was so gross everywhere.

Good food, cute place. Great place to take families. We have been twice and the wait staff is excellent and so friendly. The food is delicious and they are great about me not having certain foods in the omelets and grillers. Highly recommend this place if you have kids and are going for weekend brunch!

Mediocre. Do not get a skillet unless you want potatoes that taste like they came from the bottom of the dishwasher. The chicken fried steak was great. Eggs were under cooked. Second visit I got chicken fried steak breakfast. Hash browns were good and eggs were better.

Food is always good. Jerry Bobs is a great little place here in Tucson. It's not high end, but the service pretty good. If your looking for a fairly priced place for a meal, give this one a try. BTW, this one is on restaurants.com fyi. Hope that helps.

Jerry Bobs restaurants are all over Tucson and I've been to many of them. I have to say that this one is by far the most consistently welcoming. The staff always seem happy to see you and to serve you. Additionally they help each other out, say please and thank you to each other, and seem to truly like each other. It makes for a very pleasant dining experience. I have to admit that I have only had the breakfast at Jerry Bobs restaurants. And since they do breakfast sooo well, I doubt that will change, but I've been told the rest of the menu is good too. Yes, it is basic fare, but if you want something more you wouldn't be coming here in the first place. Interesting enough some Jerry Bobs have slightly different menu items. Such as, the Valencia location on the south side has eggs cooked with tortillas served with a side of beans, which is delicious, however; the staff there is so surly its just not worth going. This morning I stopped in for a quick breakfast and was the only one at the breakfast bar. My breakfast, a pancake sandwich was good, my service great, and inexpensive. Be forewarned... If you come on weekend mornings there will be a wait. This is one of the few breakfast restaurants in the area (Rita Ranch)and the get crazy busy on weekends.

Let me go on the record by saying that I LOVE their coffee. It is one of my make or breaks for any breakfast eatery.... no, no, no, you don't understand I won't go there if the coffee tastes like blech. I really won't. Anywho, as I was frequenting this side of town quite often this Jerry Bob's became a haven for my laziness and slackery. It saved me from making breakfast on many a morning prior to work. The service - bueno, the price - muy bueno, the food - muy bueno, and did I mention the coffee? Yeah... the coffee - muy, muy bueno. (I don't know if that last line is legal Spanish so correct if you must.) Well-p, the only thing I wish. I wish that this Jerry Bob's was not so far away from civilization, and by that I mean the rest of Tucson. It is nice that the Houghton and Valencia area has this little gem to call there own, but come on... Share with the rest of the community.

This restaurant serves basic breakfast and lunch fare, and serves breakfast all day long. Overall cleanliness of the restaurant was not great. Not filthy, but I wasn't sure if the residue on the silverware was from hard water spots or just ineffective dish washers. I ordered a southwestern omelette with hash browns and coffee, and my wife had the tuna melt with fries. The food arrived quickly. The hash browns were mushy in the middle, hard on the outside, as if they had been undercooked but left under a heat lamp for an hour or so. Omelette was nearly flavorless until spiced with the jalapeno pepper sauce and Tapatio sauce. My wife's tuna melt was adequate, but not enticing enough to go out of our way to have another. Service was pretty good, with multiple servers checking with us every few minutes. Coffee was not so great - the weak, chain-restaurant standard. The restaurant is OK for a quick breakfast, but there is nothing here to warrant a second try.

This was the second time I came to this location over the past month. The first time we walked after waiting 20 minutes without anyone taking our order. They certainly made sure every server asked us if we needed coffee, however, despite infomoring them numerous times that we were not even remotely interested in coffee no matter how many times they would ask We decided to leave when they attended to the people at the table sitting behind us -- whom arrived 10 minutes later than we did. This time at Jerry bobs was slightly better, but only because of the food. My wife and I each ordered something basic. She ordered grilled cheese; I ordered the French dip. Both were very good, as were the fries. The problem was with the service. Our waitress took several minutes to take our order and when she did, she walked up to us without saying anything. She stood there for a second -- no greeting -- and waited for us to start ordering on our own without saying anything. After ordering, our food took a while to arrive (roughly 20 minutes) and it was brought by the server who was taking care of the table next to us while our waitress stood behind the counter and stocked items. Not once between the time we ordered our food and the time I finished my plate did our actual server come check on us to see if we were enjoying our lunch or to refill our drinks. My wife had to ask the person at the front of the restaurant to get our server so we could ask for refills, who was still stocking items near the kitchen. When our server saw my wife talking to the other server / cashier in the front of the store, she peered out of the kitchen and noticed them talking. She refilled both of our drinks (finally) but there was about a 30 minute time-frame where she didn't check on us or interact with us. If it weren't for the quality of food, this would be a one-star rating. I would also like to state that I would have given it as high as a three (the other servers attended to us when needed and were prompt in responding to our requests) but 20 minutes is a long time to wait for grilled cheese and french dip sandwiches. It seems as if my experience is much different than most who go here, but my two trips here make it very unlikely that I will be back any time soon. It's rare to see a place where the younger employees in a restaurant are picking up the slack for the older ones, but that was the case in both experiences at this Jerry Bobs. I would rather travel 25 minutes and wait another 20 minutes outside at Brawleys on Broadway and Wilmot and eat at their dingy, slimy restaurant. Less money, better food, faster service. Anyone calling this the best place to get breakfast in Rita Ranch or Vail needs to set their standards higher. It's decent food with very inconsistent service.

Fairly standard for a Jerry Bobs, yet not one of the best breakfasts I've had. I've eaten here a few times, the square meal is ok, and it's hard to mess up pancakes. Coffee is so so but it was always served hot! The issue I have with Jerry Bobs as a whole is that the entire menu is very bland. These chains are always filled with elderly and I think it's because all the food is so mild. I enjoy a good blend of flavor and seasoning and Tabasco is not the only way I would like my food flavored. I eat there when I want pancakes and don't feel like making them or driving very far. I would take Waffle House IHOP or even Denny's over Jerry Bobs most days. This is a great place to take the grandparents when they come to town. If you want a good simple breakfast try Joe's Pancake House on golf links and Kolb, or if you feel like venturing a bit further into town go to Brawley's, it's always packed and worth the wait.

Jerry Bob's is just an ok place for breakfast or lunch. It's basically what you would expect from an inexpensive egg place. The omelettes are pretty big and taste just fine. The hash browns were a little bit mushy and bland, but still ok enough to eat. The toast was pretty standard. Th service was also just ok. Not spectacular, and not particularly attentive (we waited too long for a drink refill), but they weren't rude or unpleasant. I would eat here again in the future, but I'm not going to rush back.

I decided to go here for breakfast this morning and was shocked at how busy this plaec was. It was packed! There were limited servers, but they were really quick. My food was delivered to me very quickly and it was pretty good. This place is pretty inexpensive and pretty good food.

This place has good and hearty breakfast for decent prices. I am not a big fan of their coffee, but I am a coffee snob. I love their pancakes, which are made thin and are served hot. When you order crisp hash browns you get crisp hash browns. And right now they have a deal of ordering four items on a list and getting it for $5.49. The list is posted on every table. What a deal!!Wait staff is quick and proficient. About the only drawback is that they don't have someone at the cash register, so you have to wait for one of the wait staff to come up and do the register. This can get a bit confusing with people waiting for tables and people waiting to pay their bills. .
