This is a pretty good pizza. I love that they do the flavored crusts - my fave is the butter cheese - and if you do the large 1-topping its also a great deal (either $5 or $6 depending on when you go.....seems like they keep trying to up the price to $6, but maybe get complaints or something because then it always goes back to $5???) My husband would be appalled that I'm only giving 4 instead of 5 stars because he's OBSESSED! But the reason they only get 4 is that their "large" is really not that big compared to other pizza places - more like a medium size at other establishments. Also, unless you are doing the large 1-topping, the rest of their specialty pizzas/salads/sandwiches, etc., really aren't that great of a value. Most pizza places constantly run specials but I find that the fliers for Hungry Howies really aren't "special" prices....you go to the store and find that the same prices are listed on the menu and they just send fliers making you think you're getting a deal when really that's just the regular price.

Here's a case in which their had been a problem so I would like to show some gratitude for the service I ended up receiving. I had made a late night order, (which I understand it ain't fun to get a order that late on your shift), but the pizza came pretty late but with that said here's why Howie's service gets 5 stars: I called to ask about my pizza and the gentleman on the phone just handled everything perfectly. I wanted to be mad and the guy just gave the exact reason why the pizza was late which made me completely understand the situation. Pizza came, driver was completely sincere so everyone continued on, until something in the order was forgotten. I called back and really wanted to be mad this time, but the guy on the phone was awesome once again even threw in a 2 liter soda. The guy just could of given me less of his attention considering it was like 2 50 in the morning, but he actually gave a damn and just fixed up everything and I have much respect for his service. As for the delivery man, he was such a humble person and so sorry bout everything and just showed hustle even though he was in a tough situation, but he did one thing that truly showed A LOT... The kid shook my hand (not something you get from many pizza delivery guys at 3 am). Mad respect for you guys, things could of been so much worse and you all just killed it so late at night. To the managers of this pizza location (champbell) you got good people running your shop all the way till closing time, and because of this experience, I finally decided to spend the time and write a review to show some love for the first time on Yelp. Much respect!!

I would order from this place more often but the employees are tough to deal with. I am tired of being called "cutie" (not kosher with everybody) or asked "Sorry, What is your address again?" three times over (no joke!). Their pizza is great and so are the bread sticks with sauce but I cringe ever time I must drive to pick up my pizza or talk to their staff on the phone just for an order. Tonight I couldn't take it anymore and had to hang up on them. We called Papa John's who, up until now, has been #2 on our list. It's awful when you can't get what you want because a place has employees with the same IQ of a baboon.

It's cheap as hell- our pizza (large pepperoni, extra cheese, garlic crust) was $8.50. YUM! We order from here once a week, and love it, but its run by young kids, who are probably stoned, or hell, maybe they just dont care. But, our order is always ready when they say it will be, and its always right. Friendly and customer service oriented? No. Great pizza? Yes.

I've ordered from this location twice now, and I have to say last night just left me a bit bitter. I used to order from their broadway location all the time, I've never had a problem with the staff and the food has always been consistent. I ordered a small Italian deluxe sub, over the phone and they gave me a quote time of 15 minutes. Perfect, as it takes me about 15 minutes to get there. I get there and walk in and a rather frazzled, older woman asks why I'm there, I told her I was there to pick up an order and she proceeds to tell me that it's not done yet because they got a rush right after I called. I don't know why that set my order back since it happened after I called but I just said okay and she proceeded to ring me up. And that's when it got rather irritating. I used my husbands card to pay, since I had recently misplaced mine and I'm still waiting on my replacement. She saw that it said 'See ID'. She asked for my ID and I proceeded to give her my ID AND my husbands ID. She stares at it and proceeds to LECTURE me about paying with my husbands card, even after I tell her my situation. So being super uncomfortable I sit down and wait. And wait. And wait some more. As soon as I was going to ask what was taking so long, she mumbles my name and shoves my sub at me. She is so lucky I had no energy from a long weekend of nursing a sick toddler and the exhaustion on a huge birthday party, or else I probably would have given her a piece of my mind. I got home and my sub was less of a sub and more of a calzone. The whole thing was baked shut, which shouldn't happen because you should be able to open it to put the sauce and veggies on. Also, all the meat was concentrated on one side, so some bites were full of meat and the others were just the bread. I was left disappointed by the whole experience. I ended up not even eating half of it. I guess I'll leave my Hungry Howie's cravings to their east side location. Those guys have it together.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Most disgusting pizza of my life. One late night while I was up studying, I ordered a BBQ chicken pizza for delivery. When I opened the box, all I saw was dough and cheese swimming in way, way, way too much BBQ sauce with about 5-6 small chunks of chicken. Most of the sauce and cheese shifted to one side of the box. What...the...F Since I was super hungry, I tried to scrape as much BBQ sauce off as possible. Took a few bites. It tasted so gross--I wanted to gag, so I threw the whole thing away. Instant ramen it is!

We have ordered from this store before multiple times. We always ask for extra sauce and in the past we have paid for it. As you can see from the receipt and the photos we did not receive it. We called the store and the manager Mark (thanks for spelling it for me) said we could bring them both back in and wait for them to be remade at our inconvenience or 20% off our next order. He also told us that since we didn't have to pay for the sauce, extra was not required. One question, why bother putting it on the receipt if it was not an option? Since I can't give zero stars, I am giving one star for the lovely box included with our pizza. It tasted better than the pizza. Thanks to Mark for his customer service skills and pointing out "corporate policy" does not include customer satisfaction and arguing with us. As promised we have reviewed and posted our interaction as a warning to other consumers.

The food is amazing! I love the different flavored crusts, BUT management is incompetent. The GM Dave DOES NOT know how to work the computer to take your order; he can't seem to understand proper American English spoken directly to his face, AND he does not seem to care about his customers. My husband and I specifically told him numerous times during our order, that my husband's food CANNOT have cheese! He said, "I got it. I know what you want. Emily you put the order in, I'll make it." My husband is DEATHLY ALLERGIC to cheese. The pizzas looked good, so we expected the pizza rolls Dave made to have been alright. My husband calls me from work saying there was cheese on his Hungry Howie Pizza Roll. He was between throwing it up when he called. We go into the store after picking him up from work. Emily profusely apologized and give us our next meal free, to make amends for her boss trying to kill my husband. We go in today, Feb 24, to take up that generous offer. The GM Dave is there. He says he will not honor what Emily gave us. Says he doesn't remember making my husband's pizza rolls. Blamed Emily for doing it. This incompetent man has cost his place of business money. I give out word of mouth about how great this place is, but no more. NOR will we spend our money there. I implore you to order from Emily or Josh. Even Cody. They care. They listen. And they are good at their jobs.

I had to update my review because tonight we ordered their cheesy bread. A calorie laden, cheesy, buttery box of deliciousness. I think we paid as much for the cheesy bread as the pizza(large 1 topping carryout special), but it was worth it! We've never had a problem with the service here, and the prices are great for a game night family meal.

I was really looking forward to having a cheese pizza and some bread sticks from here. I ordered my pizza at 1040 (when I received the confirmation email) for delivery. At around 1140 the pizza had not yet arrived. I called the store to get an ETA and the woman on the phone said that it had left the store 10 minutes ago. She said the email had a 1 hour quote. I said thank you and continued to watch my movie waiting patiently for my dinner. I then looked at the email and there was no quote on it. At around midnight I began to get frustrated. Finally at 1210 the guy showed up. It was $15 for the food plus delivery. I gave him a $20 and said keep it. Not sure why I tipped but I always do. I asked the guy to show me the quote time but he said it wasn't on there. New system or something. I went to my room with my dinner and it was cold to the touch and the cheese was hard. I didn't even bother checking the breadsticks. If the pizza left at 1130 and got to my place at 1210 that means it was in his car for 40 min! At this point I didn't even want it. I took it back to the store and asked for my money back. She offered to make it again but I was over it. Got my $15 didn't even bother trying to get the $20. I went to a place down the road. I was just really looking forward to having pizza and a movie at my house but I guess next time I'll order from another pizza place

I've loved Hungry Howies for years, always had good food. The past few weeks I've ordered from them a few times, every time was fantastic and the food tasted awesome. I ordered a pizza tonight and not only did it take almost an hour and a half to arrive(when the location is 5 minutes away from my address) but when it got here, it was cold. Not that big of a deal, but once I started eating it I noticed a weird smell, I realized the smell was rubbing alcohol. It was coming from the crust of the pizza, so I took a bite of the crust and it literally tasted like I was drinking rubbing alcohol. I got sick to my stomach, my tongue went numb and I lost my appetite. I called the location to speak with a manager, I had to ask for a manager 3 times before finally speaking with her. I told her what had happened and all she says is "that's weird". She then offered me to either have them re make the pizza and send it back out (she said it would take 45 minutes to an hour) or give me 20% off my next order. I don't know about you, but 20% off my next order for feeding me rubbing alcohol doesn't seem like a fair trade to me.

I never had hungry howies the service is slow the guy at the counter looks like hes stoned . they charge me extra for one topping even do that's what i order a one topping pizza. but the pizza is a little better then little Caesars but not by much they do have some coupons in the store so before you order get the coupons to save some money.

Your five bucks couldn't find a better home, especially at night. Where else do you know open till four in the morning that can feed two people for five bucks? It's ridiculously good value. No, it's not pizza hut, but it's more than half as good at just half the price. Again, it's open till 4AM and they will even deliver! (but delivery price is six not five plus delivery charges and tip, but even then who else do you know making pizza at this time or this price?). If you have an extra 50 cents you need to get the steak pizza wtih a cajun butter crust but they have a huge list of toppings and crusts get this one late night and you'll never go to mcdonald's or nicos ever again.

I'd never been to this place, but I'm broke (never cheap) and I had their ent. book coupon. I called ahead and placed an order for 2 small hawaiians. When I got there I was informed that small pizzas were already discounted, and therefore my coupon wasn't going to be accepted. I responded by asking to see the manager, and the chick at the register explained that he was at their Pantano location, and that I was the fifth customer this summer who had to be similarly turned down. She stated that the manager was a "total asshole", and that she didn't know why she was still working there. I appreciated her lending some clarity to matters. So home I went with my annoying pizzas. I don't know what these other reviewers ate, but this spunk ranged between Peter Piper's and PH. I continued to stew, and was so determined not to let Howie get over on me, that I called the location where this douche manager was working. I ordered 30 wings and 2 extra large pies ( in what I consider a nicely nuanced prick move I had them topped with hamburger, anchovies, and jalapenos, to be certain they wouldn't pawn them off later). HH had my name, adress and, and phone. I was just chomping at the bit, waiting for them to contact me. Unfortunately HH wasn't done disappointing me.Piss on Howie and his alliterate appetite.CB

This is THE best pizza place to order from in Tucson! (Especially if you are a college student!) Price can't be beat. Large 1 topping for around $5 is awesome. I used to see the price go up a lot, but when I would get home, there was ALWAYS a coupon for $5. Usually with the coupon brochures they put out, it comes with a bunch of other offers, including Howie Bread, which is a necessity when my friends and I order. $2 more? I can handle that. Taste is so unique. You can get whatever flavor crust you want including butter cheese, garlic, sesame, ranch, and a couple of others. My favorite will always and forever be butter cheese. My heart smiles everything I eat that crust. This is no gourmet pizza place, so don't expect a lavish pizza when you order. Its perfect if you are low on money and really hungry. Know exactly what you want when you are ordering or be prepared to have a really confusing conversation with the staff. All that said, Hungry Howie's has never gotten my order wrong and I will continue ordering from them as long as they are around.

When I lived in Tucson, Hungry Howie's pizza wowed me. I never tried a pizza that had a great buttery garlic crust! The pizza was different and great! Pizza = 4 stars Then why did I give this place 3 stars? The service is horrible! Ordering from them via phone was always hectic. My roommate would always order the pizza for us and she always noted that it was so difficult to order the pizza.

I hate giving this 2-star rating to this Hungry Howie's location as I am a HUGE fan but I have no choice. The last time I ordered they messed it up (everyone makes mistakes) and then when I ordered last night the pizza was simply un-delicious. Its such a bummer!I called in our order last night and the phone person was a one-man comedy act. I was laughing and excited to grab my grub. But the pizza lacked something...it was cold and just blah. I will eat here again but I will not be going to this location when I do.

I remember ordering from Hungry Howie's when I was in kindergarten in California. I loved it. The greasiness, the buttery howie bread, all good. So when I heard that they were opening in Tucson I was happy. Even happier when they gave my sorority free pizza parties. The pizza just doesn't taste that good. It has a cardboard taste/feeling to it and the toppings aren't that exciting (for example they don't have Canadian bacon, just regular ham). It's similar to ChuckECheese pizza. They offer different crust flavorings, or as I like to call it, seasoned regular. They sprinkle the flavoring of your choice on their crust. It makes a huge difference. They don't have my favorite menu item, the Howie Bread. Minus another star. Much better than Domino's or Pizza Hut, and if I'm ever on a budget and in need of a tasty and bad for me meal, I'll order from these guys. Until that happens, I'll stick to Magpies.
