Yummerz, first time eating here, now a longtime fan. I gave into pressure and tried it and I was surprised to find that I love this place! Subs come with an amazing house dressing, and I don't know if they make their own bread but it smelled and tasted fresh. I can only account because I make my own bread and it had that overwhelming delicious bread smell that bread has when it is freshly made. The ranch fries were a guilty pleasure, or as I call them 'crack fries.' Fries with ranch dressing, topped with bacon bits. If you are a little on the full side, a kids or small Egee is plenty as I found out, and the medium and large are really huge. No comment on the Bigee size. As I guzzled my Eegee down, I remembered that they don't use corn syrup and once you hit those real pieces of fruit, ahhh it's like heaven...

My go-to place for a fries fix. This location is just around the corner for me and they always get my drink order right, but sometimes they forget to include ranch with my fries order.

First timer here, although I heard a lot about these famous cool treats they are known for at Eegee's... and I was not let down~ I would say these icy treats rate 4-5/5 stars. They have an authentic real fruit taste and even have some fruit pieces mixed in according to its flavor. I tried two: pina colada & strawberry. The pina colada has a nice balance--not overwhelmed with coconut flavors, and a little citrus tang. The strawberry is sweeter, so if you're a big sweet tooth, you can't go wrong with this one. Next time, will try more flavors! Also ordered the delux Italian Grinder. Wish it had pepperoncini in it, so next time I will go for the og Italian Grinder. Delicious though, the bread was fresh and had a nice texture, and it was better quality than I expected for the price. Prices are very fair and you get quality without being overcharged.

I had the original Grinder and fries. It's a good sandwich and awesome served hot. I stopped in on a whim while doing some business in Tucson and while it looked a bit sketchy at first the place was relatively clean (could use a bit more attention). The staff was super friendly and service was prompt. What I did not like was the "homeless" kid hitting up all the patrons in the dining area. Otherwise it was a good experience.

Not my kind of food place. I like Subway better in this genre, and seven eleven has slushies if that's your thing.

This place is terrible. The bad quality of the food amazes me. I have no idea where they get it from but somehow food of that quality is legal. Got there buffalo chicken sandwich and the chicken had a rubber texture. My girlfriend also tried and and had to spit it out. When asked for a refund I was DENIED. Terrible business practice and terrible food.

This eegees location is a tucson classic. A must go for visitors.

I love Eegees. And I don't even get the slushie drinks that make them famous. I like their sandwiches and salads. Everything seems so fresh and good, especially for a place you can drive-thru. Salads are great if you are low-carbing. Sandwiches are great if you are not. I tried the infamous (among my friends, at least) ranch fries one time and was not impressed. Although they DO have the best ranch dressing I've ever tasted. Staff is super nice and I am told they are paid and treated well by the company. They also sell a coupon book every summer where proceeds go to a local charity...I like that a lot.

Eegee's... I gave this chain store two chances within 2 years apart to impress me... and it failed both times. For those that never had Eegee's before, it is a cross from 7-11 slurpees and Subway. I'm sorry to say this, but there is nothing special about it. Eegee's drink is one grade above a Slurpee and one grade down from a Jumba Juice (kinda like a poor man's Jumba Juice). Sorry, but frozen tiny pieces of fruits and sugar colored ice just doesn't do it for me. They tell you it contains real juice, but 1 drop in a bucket can also be claimed as such. So... yeah. Their sandwiches are not even at par with Subway's. So, I don't get the draw. Their fries were horrible. Like the ones you got at your high school cafeteria. I took a few bites and fed the rest to the birds. You can buy those at Safeway and put them in a microwave and it would pretty much be the same. No more Eegee's for me. Sorry. Also, $3 for a medium Slurpee is ridiculous. For $3 a drink, I better find real milk in there, not colored ice. They must be laughing all the way to the bank with such prices.

Usually this place is great- but after eating and having a strawberry egees- I was sick! I have noticed some new employees and they are not as friendly or professional in the drive thru .I have seen several employees smoking out front: hand washing step probably was forgotten. GROSS. That's all.

I'm a big fan of Eegee's not only for their drinks(I do enjoy myself an Eegee fizz), but I also love their fries and sandwiches. I've gone through the drive-thru twice at this location and both times I was treated very well. Keegan, the young man behind the window, made a point to make sure I was happy with the service/food and was extremely pleasant. This place is overall great!

I reviewed the reports on Yelp before I try the Eegees at Speedway Blvd.I was so excited to try it. When I got there, I noticed that they have limited offer of the flavors. I had strawberry and lemon mixed frozen drink. I could taste of the "real fruits" but it was something that I was not really satisified. I dunno what was missing in it. I am not sure if that is because of not enough sugar in it? When I asked for small frozen drink and I thought they were mistake by giving me the large cup but it was labeled as small one.. So cheap for an OK drink. :-)

Food is always good and very consistent so props on that! However, beware of thinking of this place as a "lunch break" stop. Unfortunately they're slowwww service (no matter what or how much you do/don't order) is also VERY consistent. I work literally 2 mins (by car) down the steet and never make it back to work to clock in on time; and that's with going through the drive through! And if I were waiting because of fresh fries then no big deal, I wouldn't dock stars for that. I just feel like theure slow at everything from taking the order, the way theu cash you out, how slowly they walk back and forth to get your condiments or utensils....it's very lax. I still go, because I like Eegee's and the staff is friendly enough, but never go even when I have a full 30 mins for lunch! Dock 2 stars. Yes it's good, they're friendly and the food is clean and consistently delicious; but the service time is ridiculously slow.

My husband and I shared a 12" grinder. Being from northern California, we are used to Subway sandwiches -- where you get several choices of bread, you get to choose what you want on the sandwich, and there are many choices. Not so at Eegee's. The sandwich was on a bun that was akin to a hamburger bun (boring). It came one way (no choices). And it wasn't all that good! Certainly, it wasn't anywhere as close to a Subway. I 've heard Eegee's is a "Tucson institution," but it must not be for the sandwiches. It also took a good 10 minutes to get a sandwich made, and there were only about 6 customers in the entire restaurant, with 3-4 people working. (Subway fixes sandwiches while you watch -- they're that fast.) First and last visit to an Eegee's.

  • José V.

Turkey grinder style, no cheese, ranch fries, and a medium flavor of the month, and I'm good to go. Jungle Juice (September) and Orange Dream (May?) are to die for. The drive-thru is usually busy but always fast, and the employees are always friendly and accurate. And this location is conveniently located near campus...

I have spent time in Tucson and in my time there I became a faithful regular at Eegee's. If friends came into town I would take them to Eegee's. I have been away from Tucson for a few years but recently returned. I am glad some things never change. I ordered an eight inch Eegee Grinder.. Yes. Everything was fresh and the dressing was great as always. I didn't order the flavor of the month. I am a die hard Pina Colada man. HEAVEN!! This visit took me back. Good memories, good food. Keep up the good work Eegee"s

YES. Eegees doesn't disappoint. Having just moved to Tucson and hearing about the slushies, I was more than excited when I stopped by today with a friend on the way to class. I tried the piña colada and was hooked upon first sip. Fruity, refreshing, sweet and with some real fruit pieces in it. The fries were great and the ranch dipping sauce was surprisingly delicious! I'm not a fan of ranch but I'm a fan of Eegees ranch. I'll definitely be coming back. A lot.

I believe this is a local Tucsonian chain, because I've never encountered an Eegees anywhere else. After a ridiculously filling lunch at El Guero Canelo, where else would we consider going for a post-Mexican feast dessert than Eegees for their renowned flavored ices? Under the watchful gaze of Cap'n Eegee, the green-suited super-hero with a giant "E" belt buckle painted up on the wall, we ordered our snacks. Apparently the flavors sometimes rotate, but the offerings when we went were lemon, pina colada, strawberry, and watermelon. I found that the kid's size was plenty as a sweet tooth satisfier. Don't forget that you can mix two flavors - I ended up getting half watermelon and half pina colada. The Eegees guy serving ices uses a blocky metal stick contraption to load up one half of a cup vertically with one flavor, then impressively fills up the other half with the other. It's almost a shame that it's not a more marketable skill elsewhere - I was thoroughly entertained with the spectacle. There's definitely some real fruit in the ices, although it's obvious that a lot of it is artificial flavoring. My pina colada had actual bits of coconut shreds in it. Yum!

Eegees really is a Tucson legend, and I'm a fan. Their sandwiches are good -- I mean, you can find better out there, but they're definitely good with a nice zing of dressing. The legendary Eegees iced drinks are awesome (and definitely great to put booze in, I hear). Their pretzels are awful; they're just out of a box from the frozen aisle of the grocery store. I have yet to try their fries. I've been to Eegees about 30 times, I guessing. The last time I went, several months ago, I got rotten vegetables in my sandwich. Haven't been able to stomach going back there since, but just a warning that some locations get lax towards the end of the day.

Food sucks but the drinks were good. We had the Mango Tango. It was tasty plus adding some sierra mist it was refreshing.

  • Devon A.

Alright, I'm ticked! The last 4 times that I have gotten fries from eegees, they have been complete crap. They obviously are not cooked fresh and have been hanging over the fryer too long. They also changed the type of fry that they use. Completely different fry than what they used this time last year. The only thing the same is that they are a "crinkle cut." I suppose that this is just another cost savings move on the company - but my God do they suck. I hope they go back to their original formula for their fry - I think they used to win Best of Tucson in the Best Fries category - but never again like this. Get it together.

I honestly cannot believe there are only 4 reviews. Eegee's is a Tucson institution and one of the places I HAVE to visit when I'm in town. What are the best items on the menu? Pizza Fries, Veggie Grinder (which comes without mayo standard!), whatever the flavor of the month Eegee is - it will be good, as well as the Pina Colada Eegee. The flavor of the month Eegee switches out monthly and each month is better than the last (over the years I've had them all). For those not wanting a Pina Colada, the other always there flavors are Strawberry and Lemon. You can do a half-and-half Eegee and enjoy two flavors, and a Lemon Ice T-Eegee is really refreshing during the summertime. Note: a small Eegee is actually really big! Yes, the stores need a makeover, but the standard yellow benches are part of its charm.

Eegees is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me. I would give Eegees 500,000 stars if I could. Quotes I've heard about Eegees: Nine dollars! A very worthy sum for a very worthy question. Can a sandwich and frozen drink show us the very truth and nature of love? I bear witness to the wager, and will be the judge of it as occasion arises. I have not seen anything to settle it yet. I love you, Eegees, beyond poetry. I will have Eegees in my life. And adventure. And love. But Eegees above all. No... not the artful postures of other sub shops, not playful and poetical games of wanna-bes for the amusement of an evening, but Eegees that... over-throws life. Unbiddable, ungovernable - like a riot in the stomach, and nothing to be done, come ruin or rapture. Eegees - like there has never been in Phoenix. Nurse, as I love you and you love me, you will bind my breast and buy me a boy's wig and buy me an Eegees party platter. You see - comedy. Eegees, and a bit with a dog. That's what people want. Eegees denied blights the soul we owe to God. Love of Eegees knows nothing of rank or river bank. Girl:Tell me how you love Eegees, Dallas. Dallas: Like a sickness and its cure together. Were I on death row: Eegees would be my last meal. Were I stranded on a desert island, a magical Eegees machine is what I'd bring. Could I express my love in it's truest form, Eegees would be the gift I'd share. Everyone else that has reviewed it should never ever be allowed to eat there again.

Great slushes and a variety of sandwiches, a true local treat. Worth stopping for something that's not main stream (subway or quiznos)

I'm from Tucson and live in San Francisco. The food in SF is great but I always miss eegees. Really good veggie grinders with surprisingly decent vegetable quality and of course the eegee's. And supercheap! I would give them five stars if they didn't use so much styrofoam.

    (4)
  • Rich T.

Man, talk about memorable experiences. Eegee's is super good. Those slushies are hypnotic and the meatball hoagie is simply unreal. I was sitting here in the freezing cold here in Milwaukee and just daydreaming about a warm desert day with a slushie in one hand and a sandwich in another. Great stuff, Tucson is lucky to have a great spot like this.

    (4)
  • Rick H.

The food is not bad but ultimately too pricy for what you get. If it was cheaper or more consistent I would eat there more often, but Subway is better and Jimmy Johns more reliable.

    (3)
  • Courtney R.

I cannot say anything about the food I just had a "Eegee" which is a slushy...a very very compact icy slushy. So compact that as I was sucking on the straw trying to taste it I ended up putting a pretty big hole in the side of the styrofoam cup and still none of the yummy slushy came out. You can choose to get one flavor or just get a half and half; I choose the half and half of course. I guess Eegee's claim to fame is that the slushies have pieces of fruit in them and the most popular one is the pina colada which has pineapple and coconut in it but unfortunately I dislike most coconut things...I suggest the half and half with lemon and strawberry...a little tart and a little sweet...oishii.

  • Erica H.

I never became a big fan of eegees. Maybe I'm not really a sub person. I hate hard bread, and they have hard bread. Any topping with vinegar is just nasty--they have pickles and peppers. Plus it's a dump, with pretty dumpy employees as far as their attitudes and knowledge of the food goes. really not impressed eegees. not impressed at all.

  • Ana C.

love eegees...sandwiches okay, like they're house dressing...

    (4)
  • Dylan C.

can i give them 10 stars? i luv it here..everytime i am in town i come here, all of my cousins and i stroll in for a sandwich and a slushie, of course the slushie lasts longer than the sandwich so we have no alternative but to top it off with vodka, which is just a true delite, its a great way to cool off in the arizona heat or start of a lil party night, oh the memories...here, Kontiki, Magpies.. dont worry ya'll we danced off all of the extra calories every time...wooohoooo

i am giving 5 stars for their strawberry drink. i love it sandwiches are a little sparce

Yes this is fast food but with offerings for variations of subs and Nathan's hot dogs, how could you refuse! I was in town for a business trip and one of my friends recommended Eegee's to me so I took her up on it. I got a medium sized half watermelon half lemon eegee and it was WAY too much for me. The sugar content is through the roof too. Then again, I stopped drinking soda not too long ago so that might have something to do with it. I ordered an 8" original grinder and a chill dog. I saved the grinder for after my workout and it was still delicious. I'd go back to this place but maybe get a kid sized eegee! The service is surprisingly excellent for being a fast food chain and wish nothing but the best for this staff. They're going to move on to some awesome places. They repeat/verify your order once when you order and another time when you pick up your food. Eye contact and professionalism in a fast food place? Yeah, you better believe it. Places like BestBuy, Target and even Apple could use a lesson or two from this place!

a TUCSON ONLY chain so naturally I had to try an eegee before i left the city eegees are described as italian ice BUT WITH REAL FRUIT & i hear they are fortified with vitamins, such a refreshing, cheap summer treat in the heat! --mango tango eegees: kid's size was enough for me, but it was yummy they also have a food menu that unfortunately doesn't look appetizing so i'd stick to the eegees NOTE: you can sample the flavors which helps with those seasonal flavors

  • Emily G.

Every single time I come to Tucson, I never hear the end of it. "You need to try eegees, its a Tucson staple" "your initials sound like eegees, you have to try it", "how have you been to Tucson 5 times now and not gotten eegees?" Clearly, I'm a sucker for peer pressure, and food (but mostly food). So on a hot Tucson day, I decide to do an eegees run for my friends. I am instructed to buy 2 giant things of watermelon, strawberry and lime eegees.. ohh and ranch fries, because apparently that's good too. The only reason eegees exists (in my opinion) is because of their slushies. Their food is sub-par and un-inventive, but their eegees have been perfected for years: perfect consistency, no high-fructose corn syrup, no added food coloring, real chunks of actual fruit and rotated flavors. My favorite was the lime but my friends loved the watermelon (flavor of the month). I enjoyed it because it wasn't overly sweet and chemical-tasting like a lot of slushies in fast food restaurants. I was happy to find pieces of strawberry and lime in my slushie, and could eat a bunch without feeling overwhelmed by the sweetness. Eegees =5, ranch fries =2 (cause really, they're not-so-crispy fries with some ranch and baco's on top. At least melt some cheese in there or something). I'm just glad I finally went here and stopped all the OMG YOU'RE IN TUCSON AND HAVEN'T TRIED EEGEES crap. I am in Tucson, I've tried eegees. Leave me alone.

  • Ciera L.

Great fast food! Love their sub sandwiches- always delicious, tasty fries- best paired with their amazing ranch, and the eegee is delicious and perfect on a hot day! I've heard their cookies are great too. My favorite flavors of the eegee are lime (during the month of March) and watermelon (during the month of July). The staff is always so friendly everytime I go and they provide quick service. If you're hungry and want something quick, definitely stop at eegee's!

    (5)
  • Chrystalle B.

I have to say, it lived up to the hype. I've heard about Eegees slushies from my Tucson friends for years. My husband brought me one of their subs once, but didn't think the drink would make the trip. The sub was good, definitely better than most chain sub places around. Soft bread, fresh ingredients, etc. So when I saw that there was an Eegees on my way out of town, I took my chance. I was in a hurry, so I went through the drive thru. The guy at the window was very nice, even when I was stumbling over what to call the damn thing. I got a strawberry/ lemon off if the recommendation of a former Tucsonian and yeah, it was delicious. Sweet and tart. And a note to my dear husband, it made the trip back up to Phx just fine. :p

    (4)
  • Tricia F.

I like this Eegee's a lot. It's convenient to my work and the staff is always so friendly. There is also a drive thru at this location if you're in a hurry. I don't feel there's much left to say about Eegee's excpept if youre not a Tucson native- you gotta try it! Ranch fries for the win! But if you're feeling a little less sinful, their garden salad for about $3 is always a winner!

    (4)
  • Ric E.

Every time I make my way through Tucson I have to stop by Eegees at least twice. Great food, a little on the pricey side for sandwiches, but awesome nonetheless. I recommend the ranch fries and a turkey grinder. ..

Can never get enough. This is a must go to place when visiting tucson. amazing. I love my lucky lime flavor of the month

    (5)
  • A. J.

Was with a u.a. Alum who insisted this was worth a stop. I got a "skinny berry" slushie and ate half to be polite. Others in the group like theirs so maybe just avoid the sugar free version? They serve Nathan's hot dogs which we did not try, so maybe that is why others rate this place higher than me?

    (2)
  • Megan L.

Came here looking for something close to mythical with the way that a native Tusconian was telling me about it. The veggie sandwich was mediocre, maybe a step above subway. I also had one of their icee/snowcone concoction which was also just alright, though I am extremely biased because I dislike something that is just pure sugar, food coloring, and ice. It's not that special, people. But I suppose it's got that local vibe, which is always important for a loyal fanbase.

    (3)
  • Ashley S.

Lived here for a year before giving Eegees a try. Snowcones aren't my thing. Actually quite liked their tuna sandwich, appreciated the grinder option and their fries are an Oreida childhood throwback - not a complaint. Okay, so we start going there because I like the subs better than Jimmy John's. Tonight we went, got up to the window and apparently they had just given our order to the car in front of us. Took them about 5 minutes to figure this out after asking us "did you order ____?" a few times. Okay, sucks to be the car in front of us, but we will wait. Then we looked up. PIGEONS. PIGEONS EVERYWHERE. We are sitting in the car gawking at these horrible birds chilling up on the bird-prevention spikes just above the window like it ain't no thing. The woman handed us our drink and it dawned on us that one of these crazy birds could just fly in our car. I was like, "Roll up the window!!" and as if in response, some bird poop somehow dislodged from the canopy above and fell into the driver seat. My boyfriend was freaking out, I was freaking out. I yelled, "We just got bird poop in our car!!" The employee just looked with dead eyes, said nothing. We scoop it up with some junk mail and drive home, me holding the bag of sandwiches in one hand and the other arm stretched out with pigeon poop-covered mail and feeling a bit nauseous. I think we'll be going back to JJ's.

Skip the Lucky Lime - tasted like Kool Aid. 5 stars for the lemon

    (2)
  • Trisha T.

Good, not great. I'd had better slushies than this. You can't drink anything til it's completely melted and honestly, who wants to wait that long? However, the flavors (mango tango special, lemonade, strawberry) are nice.

    (3)
  • Nicholas H.

In a word, ghetto. Eegee's is the epitome of everything that is cheap, ugly but quirky Tucson style. By far, the Eegee's chain is known for their delicious frozen ice treats, called an "eegee." They are made with actual fruit, always a plus, though they're also quite chemically treated (you'll notice once the mix starts melting a bit and you're left with an unnatural feeling "sludge"). The food at Eegee's can hardly be called food, cheap dry sub sandwiches and other fast foodstuffs which should generally be avoided by anyone not drunk or high (although those two states of mind provide a fantastic market for Eegee's to cater to). Overall, it's a Tucson legend that will never die, nor should it. Just don't expect more than what it is. A novelty.

There's nothing better when it is hot out than an Eegees! For any Tucson native Eegees is an institution. I have to get one every time I visit. My all time favorite is lemon. Most recently I've ordered an Ice Teegees with lemon Eegees. So good! Even though I always get lemon I look forward to seeing what the flavor of the month will be. Go get one!

    (4)
  • Dora M.

Eegees is a Tucson classic! Great sandwitches and my fave degree is july 's flavor of the month: watermelon! Any other month I get strawberry lemon. Im addicted to their house dressing... I recommend the turkey grinder! THE FRIES ARE FANTASTIC! voted "best fries" two years in a row!

    (4)
  • Greg E.

Deluxe Grinder is Great and of course "Eegees" are the BEST. I prefer Lemon or Flavor of the month depending on the month (don't forget to mix flavors)

    (4)
  • Kris M.

I live in San Diego and Eegees is a MUST every time I travel back to Tucson to visit family. The fries are amazing and dipping them in their house ranch dressing is the way to go. Try a turkey sandwich 'grinder' style. And no visit is complete without a ice teegee (lemon flavored slushie with fresh brewed iced tea). Yum! I cant believe someone would say the food sucks because its deli sandwiches. I mean... Come on!

    (5)
  • Stephanie M.

I'm from California and just came to Tucson for the first time with my boyfriend. He kept talking eegees this and eegees that so we went and I got a turkey grinder with swiss, hot, and OMG I wanted to die, it was literally the BEST sandwich I've ever eaten. I'm sad, for tomorrow I must return to San Diego and the crappy Subway sandwiches I always have to eat there.

    (5)
  • Lisa W.

Their slushees are really amazing. I went in and got May's flavor of the month, Mango Tango. There were bits of actual mango in it! SO YUMMY!!!! I truly am amazed at just how good a slushee can be. It's perfect for a hot summer day. Love this place!

    (5)
  • Marlyn D.

OMG I love the Frozen Eegee's drinks!! I have one at least once a week!! New flavor every month too! The fries are delicious too! You don't find crimpy fries that often, just these lame skinny fries everywhere.

    (5)
  • Clark M.

Everything here is really good. From the tuna salad to the Italian grinder, there are so many items to choose from. The Eegees are also really refreshing, especially on a sweltering summer day (The flavor of the month, Jungle Juice, is the bomb!). The french fries are the best in town! All the people who work here are nice and helpful. If you want good food fast (that is nowhere near fast food) then steer here. It's a great place, and you'll be back for more.

  • Nichole S.

Interesting combination of sub sandwiches with french fries instead of chips. The sandwich was average but the Eegees drink was super yummy! Would come back again but nothing spectacular.
