Checked this place out after seeing its high rating on yelp and the people were right! Delicious jerk chicken, fresh watermelon juice, and plenty of extra jerk sauce to soak the tasty rice, beans and veggies that come with an order of the chicken. Really friendly staff as well. 5 stars. Step out of your comfort zone and give this food truck a chance. The longer you live in Tucson, the more hidden gems you discover. Glad I stumbled upon this gem before graduating and moving outta here. Ya mon!

This is hands down the best Jamaican food I have ever had. I had eaten at D&D's Island Grill when it was on Broadway and I had been looking for them ever since they moved. I talked to the owner and he said that I needed to notice that the name of the food truck is now just "D's Island Grill" due to the fact that the other "D" is no longer part of the business. He said that the "other D" was the hookup for the Broadway and Wilmot location. Luckily the other D wasn't the one with all of the cooking skills and recipes as the food is still kick ass. Their new location is the southwest corner of Grant and 6th AV where Harley Davidson of Tucson used to be. Their address was 250 E. Grant Rd before the building was torn down.

I originally discovered D's when it was D & D's on B'way & Wilmont; recently i rediscovered D's on Grant on the West side of town. I love me some West Indian food & they don't disappoint 'most' times. They offer a slammin' lunch special M-F from 12-2 for a measley $5.00! I had this special recently & even tho the takeout box looked small it was tightly packed w/Jamaican goodness: slaw, rice 'n peas, greaseless fried tilapia & the always delicious 'festival' - kinda a sweet hush puppy. I stopped 2 place an order for a couple of their made 2 order beef patties (20 minute wait) b/4 running some errands. When I returned I ordered the 2 item combo for $12 w/a soda or water included - i chose the curry goat & the oxtail. Everything was absolutely delicious, the portions huge, but the patties were mediocre @best as they were very dry inside & had flour clinging 2 the exterior. 2 thumbs up for the meal & unfortunately, no thumbs up for the paties....

JAMAICAN fast food! i hear D's used to be a truck but they're now a brick and mortar my plate of oxtail to-GO was $12, a bit pricier than the jerk chicken that yelpers also seem to like, but i was happy with my choice ---oxtail plate: the meat=tender goodness! the plate comes with rice & beans, cabbage slaw, and a fried bread that had a subtle sweetness but good crisp NOTE: it was hard to locate the restaurant via yelp directions but it's actually on the south side of the intersection in a plaza!

My first visit to D's Island Grill was an adventure in culinary delight. I ordered an appetizer of festivals (small rolled fried dough with a cinnamon taste) and followed that with a meal of fried tilapia fish that included more festivals, a mound of red bean rice, and a selection of sauteed vegetables. A wonderful visit and soon to be repeated.

I've been to Jamaica plenty of times so I know de real flavor of what the food is supposed to taste like , and this is it!!! They use the real Jamaican spices, so u just close ur eyes, and you'll feel like ur eating in Jamaica ! The curry goat is so tender, with that great gravy! I have them put some on the rice, and beans. Great curry chicken, also soo tender! Yea gotta try this place for something different , and sooo delicious ! You'll be back for the flavor!

I read ox-tail in one of the reviews and immediately I knew I had to drop by during this trip! To my surprise the place is situated in a fairly empty plaza (at night at least). Lighting was bad and I was hesitant to even walk in because there was only one person sitting inside (the employee or owner). Food: Ordered to go Ox-tail - Not the best I've had through this is the first time I've had it Caribbean style. They did stew it long enough for the meat to fall off. Decent flavor. It can use a bit of presentation. The meal also came with something that tasted like hard donut which I was not a fan of. Carrot/Pinapple drink - Had spice kick to it which I would guess to be ginger. Very refreshing! Service: Probably not applicable for me since I ordered to go. The guy was fairly nice and sparked a conversation when I asked him how long they've been open for. Environment: They can use a touch up in here. Feels very hole in the wall ish though the place was not that old. I usually like hole in the wall places, but only when it comes with the history of the restaurant. Price: Not bad I think I spent less than $12 on my plate of food. It was a decent amount of food. Food: 4 Service: 4 Environment: 2 Price: 3

Going to simutek to fix my max I wandered into this gem and ordered the special curry chicken and plantains!!! Food was great and authentic coming from a curry lover! Sorry I'm Indian and I can't help it!! Totally wished there were more ethnic food places in Tucson and Caribbean spots! Definitely coming back for the drinks and desserts!! After all who doesn't love being in paradise on a hot arizona day!

So. I was going to give this place 3 stars. But the truth is that there is not enough authentic cultural foods here in Tucson so I'm happy that Ds is thriving. The good: the fish tacos my husband got were amazing. Seriously. Best damn tacos I ever had. I don't care if it was the sauce or whatever else, they were juicy and flavorful and kicked you in the mouth just enough to want more. The watermelon splash was also delicious but a little too sweet for my taste. The average: the decor. It was okay...saw wallpaper coming off in a.couple of places but I didn't come to this place for ambiance. I came for food. The mehhh: Jerk chicken was okay. Grilled chicken with Jerk sauce. It was pretty decent but I wouldn't order it again. The rice was little bland for my taste. Overall, pretty good. Would return.

Jamaican food in Tucson. Not really two things that I would put together, but when I saw that this was an option, I insisted that we stop here for lunch on our way out of town. We both ordered jerk chicken plates, with a side order of plantains. There was a decent lunch rush, so the food took a little while to come out. My chicken was pretty bony, but the meaty portions were really tasty and flavorful. The plate was mostly dominated by the sides and not by the actual meat, but the sides were delicious. The plantains were also really, really good. If you check in on yelp, you get a discount, which helps, because it is a little pricey, but you get a lot of food. Come in and give D's a try!

  • Sargent S.

Nice little place, had the ackee and salt fish. Tastes like mom's. They have a discount for using yelp. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu for sure. Great specials, used to eat at the food truck they had, that was excellent as well. Will definitely tell me friends.

I've never had Jamaican food so I'm not expert but we ordered the special, Jerk Chicken plate with rice and peas and cole slaw; we also had plantains as an appetizer. The service was great! They were nice and informative to a non experienced Jamaican food eater! :P The food didn't take too long and it was nice and warm! I personally like bone in chicken and that it was! It had a really nice kick to it so if you're at all anti spices, I'd ask about something not so spicy. I do not do spices and it was delicious to me! Overall, great value with portions, quality and service!

I stopped into D's Island Grill JA for lunch while I was in the neighborhood and man, am I glad I did. The restaurant is a brightly-colored little hole-in-the-wall that seems to breathe island life into our very dry desert. The bright yellow walls are decked with pictures of Bob Marley, and there's a pot leaf on a flag in the front window. It's the sort of place you could live, if you were hungry for Jamaican flavor. And I was. It was my first visit and I decided to try the jerk beef tacos. First off, wow. The flavor on the meat was incredible. I think this is exactly what Jamaican food should taste like. Then I dipped the taco in the sauce cup. I'm not sure what the barbecue-like sauce was made from, or what exactly it's supposed to be, but it was delicious. I would dip all the things in there. There are probably a lot of little things I could point out that kept me from giving this place a 5-star review on my first visit. But none of them would keep me from going back. Next time, I want to try a larger plate with more of that incredible food.

  • Aisha R.

Well, they have moved from the food truck to a brick and mortar building, but the food is still authentic and delicious! The prices have gone up a little bit, but that is to be expected with the overhead. I still thought the food was worth it. Today's order: Curry goat ($11.50) and Kola Champagne ($3.00).

  • Jill N.

I would not run to this place. It had that chemically smell when you walked in. It seemed clean however. The food was not that great. I got the jerk burger and it was sweet. My husband said his dinner was just ok, but we wont be going back anytime soon.

  • Bryan K.

I had the double meat lamb and oxtail stew. Both were cooked to perfection and tastes great. The portion was good and was worth the price. I'd recommend it to my friends

Clean and friendly. Jerk burger was good. Watermelon ginger drink was really refreshing. I am not an oxtail fan and I am guessing that is where they excel?

I've eaten at their food truck and thought it was great. We decided to give their restaurant a go and we are glad we did. The decor is definitely Caribbean. Even the chairs are festive. They have their young daughter at a table selling her hand made bracelets. Cute. (My daughter bought one.) We had the jerk chicken. This is $10 a plate, but the plate is filled with lots of food. I ate everything and I was really stuffed, as in get a wheelbarrow to take me out to the car, please. The jerk chicken has a nice warm kick to it, nothing that you will need a fire extinguisher for, but a nice pleasant warmth. Very tasty flavor. I enjoyed the mound of beans and rice. Also the cole slaw type of salad. And the festival bread which is like sweetened fry bread. Kind of like a hush puppy in a way. My daughter had the jerk burger. Hamburger with jerk seasoning. Huge. She really enjoyed it. Also had the watermelon splash. A drink infused with ginger. Refreshing. But I don't think I would drink it all the time. My daughter gave up on it. My wife thought it was good. Just wouldn't drink a lot of it. Some folks love it, though. Service was good. The proprietors came and asked us how everything was. This is a great change of pace cuisine. Very delicious.

  • Nesha T.

It was okay. Got the oxtail plate. The rice was spicy but the oxtail wasn't flavorful and was soaking in oil. The cabbage was good. The food is priced well but not the drinks it was $4.50 for a small Ting. I would return again to try something else but not in a hurry.

This food is amazing, and not only that, they got my vegetarian friend to eat meat! I ate a plate of the oxtrail from their food truck during Tucson Meet Yourself, and wow! Packed in with dirty rice, and oxtail, and another item or two- a donut like roll, for $8, and it was filling, and so good. The sauce they use on the oxtail is amazing. And the meat... falls off the bone, it's that good. We also picked up a couple of their specialty cookies (they weren't called cookies, but it's been a couple of months since I ate there). Anyhow, great food, friendly staff, and I look forward to more eats here at the restaurant and food truck.

Two friends and I had lunch and loved it all. Great fruit drinks, red beans and rice were sweet with coconut added and the pork melted in my mouth. The folks that run the place were friendly and service was excellent. Jah love baby

  • Adam F.

A good success story with this place as it started out as a food truck before getting a place of their own. The jerk chicken and curry goat makes for an excellent two meat plate combo. Get the curry especially if you like hot food. The slaw could use a little more creaminess to it, and I could not try the rice because it had too much coconut in it. The fried plantains is the best side they have. The children of the owners are pretty involved. Last time as I was eating, she came up to the table to ask if we were enjoying our food. It was a cute moment that added to the experience. The rest of the service is very good and definitely felt I was taken care of.

This place is unbelievably good. Best jamaican food I've ever had, easily. Places like this are what make yelp so great. I never would have even known this place existed, but I plan on going here a lot now.

I had tried the truck D's ran before the restaurant only once before. At that time, I tried the fried fish, which came with a side of rice and festival. When I learned about the new restaurant, I was overly enthusiastic. Opting to meet a friend at the restaurant on a Friday, I checked in on Yelp, noticing the buy one entrée, get another at 50 percent off. Turns out the check in is for the food truck only. No worries. We went for our order anyway. I chose the half curry goat and half oxtail stew. At $13, the meal came with a side of Jamaican style rice, the festival and a 20-ounce soda. The restaurant was very quiet, save the television that was strangely set to the exact type of channel you do not want to watch while eating: one that displayed the full range of stupid stunts and mishaps people opt to do in their infinite amounts of free time. Goodness, I had to keep forcing my eyeballs from looking toward that side of the room because with every glance came a wince-inspiring view. Anyway, the service was swift, attentive and cordial, and our meal was served in less than 10 minutes. I enjoyed my meal. Very much - save for the goat bones. The goat and oxtail meat were both so tender and flavorful. I appreciated that the curry wasn't too-too heavy. Also, the oxtails were perfectly flavored. The rice was delicious! I don't care for the festival, even when mixing it with the sauce of the meat. I decided not to go for a drink (*Note: I do not drink soda). No liquor license, so if you are expecting the service of beer, wine or a mixed drink you are out of luck. In all, I like the place. Besides the obnoxious television show and in my attempt to ignore strange actions of a woman who appeared to be a relative or a friend of the servers (she kept talking loudly and, at times, directing frustration toward those working in the restaurant throughout much of the dinner; then locked her keys in the car), I very much enjoyed my time. But the feeling I get is that this is more of a lunch location than one meant for dinner. Some of the prices as of June 2013: 3 jerk chicken tacos for $5 Beef patties at $3.50 3 fish tacos for $5.50 Meals are $9 with festival and Jamaican style veggies or rice with choice of jerk chicken, curry chicken, curry goat, oxtail stew, brown stew chicken or fried fish

Meh - the staff were also super nice, so I feel bad writing this... but to be honest the food was just "meh"... the watermelon splash I'll give em - that was very refreshing - but the jerk burger wasn't fully cooked, and neither were the fries... I left hoping I won't end up with food poisoning... Maybe I'm missing something here, or I ordered the wrong thing or caught them at a bad time, but I just don't understand the appeal... having lived in the Caribbean for a number of years I was really craving something to remind me of my time there... :(

Had been meaning to try this place, Ordered jerk chicken plate. Great flavor but the meat was dried out. Of course they have to cook it ahead of time, but not let it dry out. Not too interested in going back.

I recommend the Ox tail double portion meat. You won't regret it. Will definitely come back the next time I am in Tucson. Support this business!

I love Jamaican food, especially jerked chicken. So when I saw this listed while on a trip to Tucson, and highly rated and dog friendly, I had to give it a try. First off, I don't know why yelp has this listed as dog friendly, there isn't even an outdoor area. Second, they weren't busy, but took 15 minutes for an order of jerk chicken. Third, and worst of all, the jerk chicken was so mild as to be bland. The cole slaw and rice & peas were equally forgettable. Pity, they seem like nice people.

I am no expert when it comes to Jamaican food but dang their food is great! The jerk chicken is amazing!!! The plantains are a nice addition to the meal as well. And their fresh juices are so so good!

Got the jerk chicken tacos and Jamaican juice. This is a true hidden gem of tucson. Food was amazing and the service was as well. We will be coming back many more times to come. Oh and you can't beat the prices! 5.50 for three chicken tacos and 6.99 for a burger meal!

Heading home with the hungries trying to figure out where I could get a quick bite to eat. I passed D's Island Grill on the corner and did a double take. I knew it used to be a food truck but was unaware of the brick and mortar operation. A quick u-turn and I am parking my truck and heading in. Once inside, the place is empty. I am cheerfully greeted by the man behind the counter. The menu is on the wall behind him but I ask what he recommends. Jerk Chicken... it's their signature dish. I see that they have that option in taco form so I ask for this to go. It was, I believe, $5.00. He says the tacos are something he felt he needed to offer because we are in the Southwest but wanted to say true to his Jamaican roots. Hey, fusion food is the thing right now, right? I get home and open up the container. There was a good portion of moist, juicy, dark meat chicken in three tacos, slaw and two containers with sauce. The chicken was really flavorful. One container with what looked like salsa was OK. The thing that sent this whole thing over the top for me was what I assume was the jerk sauce. It had the consistency of BBQ sauce, was slightly sweet and had the tell-tale kick/afterburn of Scotch Bonnet. You could put that sauce on an old shoe and it would taste good. While I was waiting for my food I got a chance to talk to Duwayne, the owner. I ask how business has been and how long they've been there. Just a few months and summer has been slow. He is hoping when students come back, things will pick up. I'll certainly do my part in the future to make sure they stay in business. It's nice to have some eclectic, affordable options.

I told my friend we should try Ja's, because they had good reviews. On a whim one night we pulled in around 8:10. We didn't even realize they closed at 8:00 until AFTER the owners graciously took us through their menu and specialty drinks. My companion's burger was bomb and a steal at around seven bucks. The fries were also delicious and squishy, which I'm into. My jerk chicken tacos were not bad but also not bomb. I appreciated the heavy layer of cheese but next time I'll try a platter. The Irish Moss drink was different, and I like to try different things, so long as they're not gross-different. It tasted like a milkshake with a hint of eggnog. We ate our food at Danny's.

The three of us stopped by with a local flavor coupon from the savy shopper. We each ordered the jerk chicken with a quesadilla for our daughter which she also liked. We ordered the caramelized banana for dessert. All of the food was very tasty and the service was very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Ja mon, dis be da good stuff, da necta of life mon! Okay, just kidding, I can't talk like a true Jamaican. But when I go to D's Island Grill, I sure can eat like one. The staff is friendly, the vibe is laid back; they are happy to be in business and to serve our eclectic pallets. I was in the mood for something light so I went with the jerk chicken tacos... Jesus tap dancing Christ these are delicious! The homemade "salsa" is tangy and spicy, and it goes well with the tacos. To wash this down, I went with a specialty drink, known as the "pineapple carrot juice." Sounds weird right? Well I tend to be a little on the weird side, and this stuff was damn refreshing; compliments to the chef for the welcomed spike of fresh ginger! All in all, I had a great experience. When I return, I will bring others so that they can experience the island cuisine, and I will get the oxtail meal over coconut rice (cause it sounds amazing.) Long story short, good job D. Yelpers - Go eat here and enjoy the best Jamaican fare that Tucson has to offer.

  • Kevin L.

If they plated their food in a fancy restaurant, I would not have known the difference. The ox tail is cooked to perfection. The chicken fall off the bone in all of their chicken dishes. I especially enjoyed the curry chicken, which goes so well with the rice. It was simply unbelievable to find this quality food in Tucson. I have not found better cooked meat in some of the best rated restaurants in Town. Although this isn't a service-oriented restaurant (order and sit down type), the workers are very helpful and friendly. I look forward to seeing this establishment expand their presence in Tucson. They deserve it.

BF and I decided to give this place a try while visiting tucson. So glad we listened to yelp reviews as the food was delicious and the owners were really nice. We got there an hour before closing and they were out of beef patties and curry goat, but the owners went out of their way to get enough curry goat for a plate for the BF and fried off 2 more patties. The patties were good. The oxtail was delicious...even better than the one I get here in phoenix. BF couldn't put his fork down that's how good his curry was. He also got sorrel and he savored it to the last drop. Said it was almost as good as the one his dad made back in St. Lucia. We were going to visit one more time before we headed back to phoenix but ran out of time. We'll def visit if we return to tucson.

Food was excellent! We got the jerk chicken and oxtail stew meals. Both were delicious. One side that came with our meal was a mound of rice with mixed in beans topped with a delicious sauce with a kick! The two other sides included a tangy light sweet cole slaw and a small twist of fried sweet bread called festival bread. We also ordered a side of fried plantains which were very tasty! Jerk chicken meal was $10 and got 50% off with a Yelp check in, oxtail was $11.50 and the side of plantains was $3- good value for the amount of food! Service was friendly and fast. When ordering, we asked our server for his recommendation between a few dishes that looked good. Smiling he responded "well the oxtail is...come on...it's the oxtail" with an 'it goes without saying' shrug. And right he was!

Finally let my coworker talk me into going here, and I'm glad I did. This place is amazing! If you're wanting authentic Jamaican food at decent prices and fast, you've got to come here!! Will definitely be back. I highly recommend the jerk chicken or oxtail!!

Driving through Tucson last week we noticed there were multiple places that offer my favorite dish in the whole wide world, goat curry. So, we visited two of them -- one for dinner and one for "brunch" the next day. Our first visit was to CeeDee, our second to D's Island Grill. Neither was perfect, but overall I have to admit to preferring the food at CeeDee (about which you can read in my CeeDee review). Here's the scoop on D's: D's is located in a strip mall and is a pretty clean and bright establishment. The prices are very good, cheaper than CeeDee by several dollars. I just didn't love the food as much. My festival was very hard, it had to have been from the day before at least (possibly 2 days before). The rice & peas were fine, those tend to taste about the same everywhere I go. Their fried plantains are deep fried like a french fry rather than sauteed/pan fried like I'm used to. I have to say, I don't really care for them deep fried as they end up very starchy, but that could just be a personal preference. The kids liked the fried ones just fine. They were out of ginger beer, so I tried a watermelon splash. It was interesting and definitely tasted like watermelon but I can't say I'd go out of my way to drink it again. My stepson liked his tacos, though I didn't try them. The other kids ate jerk burgers which they said were spicy. My husband said the jerk chicken was ok but preferred it from CeeDee's the night before. The yardstick by which I measure a restaurant though is the goat curry. And this is where D's doesn't measure up. It wasn't spicy at all and although I wouldn't go so far as to call it bland, it didn't have the strength of flavor I expect in a goat curry. The flavor "profile" was right - but almost diluted. It's about as good as what I can make myself and I have never felt that I've mastered the dish. I don't know if he saw white people at the table and figured we wouldn't like spicy, or if it's always that way here, but I was disappointed. It didn't taste bad, and if it were the only Jamaican food in town I'd certainly eat here rather than spend hours cooking it for myself - but it wasn't even close to the best I've had. If you don't like spicy food, you might like D's curry, or if you're too nervous to eat on the "CeeDee" side of town (har, har) then D's might be less intimidating.

One word: incredible. The jerk chicken is amazingly seasoned and so tasty, but the real treat is the oxtail. I was a bit leery of ordering it the first time, but trust me, it's worth it. The oxtail is so tender and delicious. Their portions are pretty big, so we usually split a two meat combo. Highly recommended!

  • Maria Pia F.

place was authentic, but would have liked it a little more spicy, but that's just my taste. I got the 2 meat combo of fried fish and jerk chicken. Both were very yummy, I didn't get a chance to go inside or check out the rest of the menu, since my husband just took the order to go. I can only base the rating on the food.

  • Jim S.

After trying one of the other places in town that served Jamaican food and was totally unimpressed, I was hopefully cautious. I was easily won over. I ordered a 2 meat plate with jerk chicken and curry chicken. The jerk chicken was good but I was not in love with it. I am sure that many would love it, but for me is was a bit dry. The curry chicken on the other hand was amazing. I will be going back just for the curry. The husband and wife owners were running the shop. She did the front of the shop, he handled the back. But since it was relatively slow when I was there, I got to spend some time talking with the husband. They are a great asset to our little community. If you want some great Jamaican food served by friendly folks, D's is your place.

I love the goat stew. And everything that comes with it including that Jamaican bread. I have to visit this place again. They also have oxtail stew which is very good as well. Slightly different flair from the Cuban counterpart

D's offers some of the best food ever. Not just in the Ol' Pueblo, but anywhere. The price can be steep but it's worth every penny. Go for the double Ox and you'll leave unbelievably happy!

Friendly staff. Delicious goat curry. Tender meat. Great flavor. They were out of beef patties and oxtail and ting. Fried plantains were fresh and lightly fried preserving the texture of the plantain. Jamaican food never disappoints

I went for lunch and was pleased with my food and how clean it was. They have $5 lunch specials that are an excellent deal. Side dishes are also good. I recommend the plantains.

The food at D's is delicious authentic Jamaican food. This place is worth trying out. It offers a different verity of food that is hard to find in Tucson. I recommend the jerk chicken. Some of the best jerk chicken I've ever had. The beef patties are made fresh and is a real treat. D has a real passion for his food and it shows in every plate he makes. The staff is friendly and willing to help with recommendations.

I really love Jamaican food and there's so few places to get it. These guys do authentic Jamaican food and some cool fusion food like jerk chicken tacos. I love the fried plantain and the curry chicken. Don't expect all white meat chicken because it's authentic. Get the curry goat if you like to be a little adventurous.

The best Jamaican Food in Tucson. Meat Patties and everything else, Curry Goat, Fish, Chicken dishes. It's a place to be seen and meet new friends. Get the real vibe and remember that fuzzy warm feeling like you were back in Jamaica! It's on the corner of Ft. Lowell and Country Club!

Friendly service and yummy jerk chicken, what more can you ask for? The place is casual and you get large portions. I will definitely be back!

D's has been my go to spot for jamaican food for quite awhile now. I used to get good grub back when it was only the food cart on Grant. The food is the real deal. I used to frequent Jamaican party's in Lauderhill, FL back in the day. It reminds me of the Good old days. I have tried everything on the menu except the jerk burger. (which I'm sure is very good). My favorite items are the jerk chicken and the curry goat. The oxtail stew is also excellent, but if you've ever seen oxtails you know there's very little meat on the bones. If you go for the oxtail stew I would suggest getting a double meat portion. You won't be disappointed. The jerk chicken is very tasty and not shy on spice in the sauce. Finger lickin good. It's always a toss - up between the jerk chicken and the curry goat for me. A couple times I was a little disappointed with the curry goat. I found out of you order the curry goat early in the day it can be lacking in flavor. I guess it needs more time to simmer to taste just right. The jerk chicken is always consistently good. The meals come with a side of rice and beans, sweet cole slaw, and festival which is a piece of jamaican sweet bread. The meals come in 3 different portion sizes. Lunch special size, regular, and double meat. The lunch special portion size is too skimpy for me (but it's real cheap). The regular size will satisfy most but if you really wanna pig out go for the double meat portion.

I lived in Miami for years and with their large Jamaican community I ate the best food I had ever tasted. I moved to Tucson almost two years ago and I ran a search on Yelp for Jamaican and found "D's Island Grill" was located about a mile on from my office. I drove by it 2 or 3 times before I realized (at that time) it was a food truck. I stopped by and had some of the best Jamaican food that I had ever eaten and have been a loyal follower and fan ever since. I have to drive over 30 minutes from my home in Oro Valley to get to his new location on Ft. Lowell and Country Club, but it is worth the drive. The Curry Chicken is sinfully delightful. I always get the double entree portion so I have a little left over for later. D comes out and greets his guists and makes sure you leave happy! Thanks D! Get those veggie patties cooking. I am on my way!!!

Checked this place out and was glad I did. Ordered a Jerk chicken quesadilla and a watermelon splash, both were very good, the jerk sauce was spicy, with a little going along way. I enjoyed it so much also ended up trying the sweet potato pudding and that was just as good and a great way to cool of the palate. Service was friendly and good. Definitely will be returning.

Spread the word like wildfire, because THIS place is AMAZING! Some history about my influence and desire about D's Island Grill: It was years ago when I first heard about Jamaican cuisine off of a tv program that most people are probably aware of: Anthony Bourdain - No Reservations, when Mr. Bourdain no doubt went to Jamaica and poetically mysticized on the aspect of Jamaica and its unique, extraordinary cuisine. From there, I HAD to find out what this was all about and then remembered about this food truck that served Jamaican food just north of the corner off Broadway and Wilmot. The food truck had been in that location FOR YEARS, and I remember passing it by constantly for the longest time, long before I was ever interested in trying Jamaican, or food trucks for that matter. Coincidentally, as soon as I tried it out, D's food truck was forced to move out of its location and seek prosperity elsewhere - which ended up someplace off Grant Rd. and then moved around periodically though I honestly could never make it out that way because it was always a stretch from the main parts of town I always frequent (but the flavors of this food never left my mind!) I've no idea if they still run their food truck business any more or not since it's been quite some time I've sought it out but that didn't matter when I happened to stop by in a plaza off Country Club & Ft. Lowell, when I noticed there was a landmark D's Island Grill... And so we jump to about two months from today where I discovered that D's food truck now finally has a solid location to hit for some SERIOUSLY delicious jerk chicken, curry goat and mouth watering beef patties. Make no mistake, these three items from the rest of their menu are dangerously delicious! With that said, they're a bit spicy: not overwhelmingly so, but enough for you to say and believe: "Wow, okay. NOW I know what Jamaican food's all about!" Heck, try anything on their menu and find something you DON'T like, I dare you! And don't be surprised if you find yourself addicted to this food. You take a bite of this stuff, any of it, and you'll be well on your way to being educated on some of the most tastiest food you've yet to try. I can't imagine anyone who couldn't like this stuff! Flavor packed, cooked to perfection, all of it handled with the utmost love and care by cooks who truly believe that what they have to offer is something really special. They might not say so as openly as I might, but it is what it is! They've only held this little restaurant operation for a few months now but they've got a track record of delicious food and service which has yet to disappoint! No lie! Check out their reviews from their food truck biz and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about. I'm sending my love out this way directly because people need to know that this is the real deal, and not something you should accidentally pass up! Easily one of the best places for food in Tucson, hands down! Now get on down there and get yourself a beef patty, and a plate of something incredible!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WHY DO I LIVE IN PHOENIX NOW!?!?!?! So i am officially depressed, after going to this place. It was SO good!! So my mom cooks hands down the best ox tail stew, i've had. This place easily takes the number two spot, and at some moments tied for first. It wasn't as meaty as the one my mom makes, BUT it was good regardless. If i lived down in tucson this is where i'd get my ox tail stew. Also got the Jerk Chicken. My sister who has been to Jamaica said that the way the chicken was prepared reminds her of the chicken she would eat every day there. (okay so we started off on the right step). I loved the jerk chicken. Not as spicy as i would have liked, BUT it had great flavor. don't hate the chicken skin or else you are going to miss out. All the smoked in jerk flavor is in that good char'd skin part... MMMMMMM my mouth waters just thinking about it. Anyways, i am depressed i never stopped here when i was living 1 mile away (literally). *currently kicking myself* anyways i am only 1hr 30mins away (in phoenix) sooo...when i crave i'll be stopping by. worth the drive... SO MAKE IT!!

Oh.my .goodness. The oxtail! It is soooooo good! It's got this wonderful smokey-spicy flavor, and dangit, you can freakin' taste the love. No joke. The portion is pretty freakin' amazing for $8! All meals come with this donut/fried dough thing that can only be described as yummmmmm. And the coleslaw? i HATE coleslaw, but i gobbled this stuff down like there was no tomorrow. And the jerk chicken! So great - it reminds me of the roast chicken i ate EVERY FREAKIN DAY for 2+ weeks, when I was in Jamaica, many moons ago (clearly, this was not by choice; but it's soooo good now that i don't eat it daily). I think I would probably try any random stew (like goat stew??) that this guy sells from this truck - pretty sure they would all be slam dunks on the tastebuds. Only downside is they don't have ting (Jamaican grapefruit soda). :( but i'll survive, if i can just get my hands on some more oxtail! my only request: D (or whoever the owner is) - please get a twitter or fb page so we know when you will be at your spot! i brought my parents and husband here when they were in town for a few hours, and you weren't there! we were sad and so disappointed, as my parents have a huge affinity for jamaican food.

The food is excellent and authentic. The service is even better. We ordered the double meat combo with jerk chicken and oxtail, and a fried fish platter with sorrel to go. While driving home, I was eager to try the sorrel and pushed the straw too hard into the cup and unbeknownst to me, when we got home, the entire sorrel cup was empty because I had punched a hole at the bottom of the cup. It was so good we went back to order another and the owner was kind enough to replace it free of charge. That's what I call great customer service. We make regular trips to this restaurant ever since.

Great food! This was our first time here but definitely not our last. Also found out they started out in a food truck that was near our house. The fact that we never tried them then is our loss. The jerk chicken dinner was ab fab. At the end, it was suggested we try their Sweet potato pie. By all means, you should order this. As a matter of fact, have them add a couple of scoops of ice cream. Your mouth will love you forever!

I have never tried Jamaican food so I was little hesitant when my husband told me about D's Island Grill. We looked up this place on Yelp and had great reviews so we decided to try this place and now I am glad I tried. The chicken jerk was amazing. The restaurant owners were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back again.

I lived in the Virgin Islands as a child and always craved island food. When D finally opened the restaurant I did the dance of Joy!!! I eat there all the time and bring my friends and co-workers to enjoy the great food and the huge portions. I love the meat patties and the curry. Make sure to try it soon if you haven't made it there yet!

One of the best food trucks out there! Delicious food, no matter which menu item is ordered! (hence the reason i follow them as they move locations ...um ...i'm not stalking them, the food is that good) Courteous friendly service. Take out or seating within the tent available for onsite dining.

wow... so good, just got two lunch specials, one for me and one for my beau... hmm I ordered the jerk chicken and the oxtail lunch specials, both were amazing, the jerk chicken was juicy tender and perfectly seasoned, the oxtail was tender, moist and it just melted in your mouth.. This was my first time eating here, and it wont be the last... Definitely coming back to try everything else this place has to offer. While I ordered my food the owner (i assume) chatted me up and we had a great convo while I was waiting for my takeout order... I will be back the next chance I get! Going to tell all my friends too!

Funny story. I wanted to go here for lunch on Saturday but then decided to go to El Guero Canelo instead because I didn't feel like driving out to the east side. So I'm driving west on Grant, in between Stone and Oracle, and out of nowhere, my friend yells out, "Hey, isn't that the Jamaican truck??" I couldn't believe it, so I did a quick U-turn and pulled into the lot. Yes, it totally was D&D's Island Grill, sitting in an empty lot on Grant and not on Broadway. I knocked off a star only because had I driven all the way out to Broadway and Wilmot, they wouldn't have been there. I'm not sure why they were on Grant, but it worked out for that day. I guess we were just meant to eat there that day. I ordered the curried goat combo, and my friend got the jerk chicken combo. Both were absolutely delicious and very satisfying. The order came out very quickly too. The fry bread is awesome. Can't wait to try the other menu items.

Came to D's after passing by many times. The gentleman who served myself and my friend was incredibly friendly and very attentive. I had the goat curry which was very good though not spicy. The rice and beans were fine and the festival was phenomenal. My friend said he liked the jerk chicken and also raved about the festival. The price was right, about $9 for the meal.

One night, it came down to eating here or Cee Dee's. My friend who lives in Tucson said Cee Dee's was pretty good but I convinced him to try this place based off the strength of the reviews. We both were impressed. The curried goat was on-point and the portion was large. I'll def come back next time I am in town.

Tried the new location and, predictably, D's is still awesome. Now that they're in a restaurant, they're offering the full menu every day, which is nice. They've also added items to the menu. While I am yet to try the jerk burger, the jerk chicken tacos with fried plantains were things to be celebrated. Portions are still mammoth, the staff remains incredibly nice, and slightly later hours make it easier to drop by for dinner. It's a shame to lose the food cart ambience, but the transition has been a good one, overall.

  • Bleep S.

The jerk chicken is superb! The owner has created his own rub and the chicken is smoked to perfection. I defy you to find tastier chicken in Tucson. The accompaniments work wonderfully with the spicy, smokey chicken....rice (fancy rice..can't quite figure out what he has added.it's delicious), a vinaigrette coleslaw, slightly pickled, sauteed onion and carrot. The plates are huge....two meals for me. My goal is to try everything on the menu.

If we had come on a Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday, when D's serves ox tail stew and goat curry, they might well have earned five stars. However, we came on a Tuesday, and so had to get chicken. I got the jerk chicken combo, and my wife got the chicken curry. Both were powerfully seasoned and came accompanied by a hearty mixture of rice and peas (beans) and a dense, deep fried, semi sweet, delicious nugget of white flour called festival. We also had the watermelon splash, a very refreshing combination of melon juice and ginger. The only complaints we had was that the white meat was a little dry, and there were bone fragments scattered throughout our rice. Nevertheless, we will be back soon to try the goat curry, and then again for the ox tail stew.

Don't believe the hype. I had a jerk chicken meal for $9 ($11 with tip) and it was disappointing. The chicken tasted old and several pieces were dry, with a jerky-like (no pun intended) texture. Also, from my experience jerk is supposed to burn your face off--not so here. They definitely water down the spice levels for the yocals.

Peace.....LOVE........and Curry Chicken??? Wait that's not how it goes at all or does it?? I love Caribbean food and I remember seeing this place at the old locale and saying to myself "That must be a food truck that serves Jamaican dishes....that sounds delicious" Well I said that to myself for months never stopping in and never venturing to try food from a truck...then it was gone POOF I was sad and swore that if that Truck was still in Tucson I would find it and dine there and enjoy or get food poisoning from whatever was contained within. Well low and behold right up the street from my church in a dirt lot it stood before me calling upon me to try...then to sweeten the deal a yelp check in deal for half off my second entree??? It was like destiny or just great luck or maybe the fact I searched for it on yelp and realized it was up the street from church and had a check in offer...either way I DINED HERE!!! I loved it...love love love loved it!! Great flavor, a personable owner who you can tell loves his craft and serving his delicious Jamaican treats from the back of his Wagon. I dined on Curry Chicken my wife had the Oxtails she was always upset by the Oxtails at the other Jamaican restaurant in town because they didn't have enough meat on them. The moment she opened her box a YESSS came out her mouth as she said "babe they have meat on them" .... "thats what she said?????" The rice is perfectly seasoned and the slaw has a sweet tang the meat rests upon your rice seeping all your flavor into it and creating a foam box of heaven for you to enjoy. Served with a deep fried donut thing that I lack the proper culinary term to describe this place is amazing. My curry was amazing a slight mustard meets citrus and spice flavor that really brightened my day. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and if you are the type to eat the bone they are stewed enough that you could do so easily. Food like this not only fills your belly but lifts your spirits and changes your mood. I will be back regularly whenever that itch for some Island flavor hits me...you should too.

I can't believe I didn't try this sooner. I've heard about this place many times and I never thought I'd be fond of jamacian food but they proved me wrong. They have a pretty good menu but some of the meats they serve are only available on certain days. Like curry chicken is only available Fri and sat, oxtail stew available Wed, Fri and sat (this may be wrong, its totally off memory). I went on a Monday so I got the two meat combo with jerk chicken and fish. There was a line waiting and some of them seemed like regulars. This got me more excited. The chicken was very flavorful, moist and not overwhelming with the jerk seasoning. It had some kind of bbq sauce drizzled on top as well. So good. The fish was OMG delicious. Perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection. Not greasy, very crispy, not overcooked. It was wonderful. Probly some of the best fried fish i can find in tucson. There was this pickled carrot over it that was good but my taste bud can do without it. All served with shredded vegetables and beans and rice. There was also this little nugget size deep fried, sweet cornbread looking thing that I think is called a festival. And my gosh, there was a festival in my mouth! I would recommend getting a few of these if u can. My coworker got this drink called sorrel made with different fruit juices that she liked but it wasn't my thing. In all, great food. I would definitely return to this place especially to try the oxtail stew......maybe that's why they are served on different days... so you can return and try other entrees hehe. If jamacian food is that good, then D's has made me a fan!

I like variety in a meal. I'm not the type to eat JUST a cup of noodles for lunch or JUST a salad for dinner. I will break the bank even at a cheap place like Subway because I want a variety of things to eat. I want the sandwich AND the chips PLUS soup AND a cookie. I love this food truck because: #1 - The food is incredibly delicious. #2 - It's reasonably priced. #3 - You get a huge meal complete with vegetables, rice, a huge hunk of the meat of your choice (I always have the fish) and little scrumptious (traditional Jamaican) fried doughnuts on the side to put out the fire in your mouth if you choose (like I do) to douse the entire thing in habanero sauce. I would challenge anyone to show me a better deal for lunch in this whole town!

Coming from a Jamerican and having had family and friends cook jamaican foood, I have to say I love this place more than any other. I really love patties and he has the greatest from all the shops I have been in (Including places in Georgia, Miami, and even Jamaica) Anytime I have the ability to I will buy his cooking and his fresh watermelon spicy juice ;-). I first met Dee in 2011 and me, my boyfriend and my daughter ended up staying with him talking and playing while he was free and his smile and great demeanor are infectious. I would recommend his food and his company to anyone

Bomb food + cheap. The owner's daughters were off for the summer so they were helping to wipe down the tables and keep us company. They were soooo cute bickering with each other and just chit chatting as we ate. The lunch special is from 12 to 2pm in the afternoon for about $5. Jerk chicken was nicely flavored although I wish my chicken was a tad bit spicier. Will be back here a.s.a.p beware there is only a port a potty which at the time they did not have a key for, so if you're planning to eat spicy you better hold it until you find a toilet. Had to cut my lunch short because my sister needed me to speed race to the nearest bathroom. haha

Love the Jerk Chicken combo deal. Just wish the small stuff was a bit cheaper, like all the tacos, and those $3.50 signature drinks. don't get me wrong, the food is great. I'd be there much more often with a bit more reasonable pricing. took stars off only for price.

First time experience with Jamaican cuisine, but was delighted with everything ordered. The jerk chicken, ox tail soup, sorrel and watermelon splash were delicious! I also really enjoyed the rice and sweet bread that accompanied the dishes. Would definitely come here again.

This is a Jamaican lunch wagon that operates in my neighborhood. It is always parked next door (north of) to the Chase at Broadway & Wilmot. I first tried it at 2010 Tucson Meet Yourself. We had the jerk chicken & fish, too. My favorite thing was the donut-like rolls that come with the meal. You can use them to soak up any jerk sauce you missed with the chicken! To Die For! I will go visit him for lunch, no doubt!

I've never had Jamaican food, so I have nothing to compare it to but Im definitely a fan. After reading all the great reviews about how D's serves great-authentic Jamaican food, I was dying to try it out for myself. We were driving down grant trying to decide where to go eat, and fast because we were starving. Then in the distance we saw the big green truck and we decided to finally give it a try. We were greeted by a very friendly man who immediately told us about the entrees he had that day. I decided on the Oxtail stew and the hubby chose the jerk chicken. Both meals came with rice & peas, Cole slaw(w/oxtail), spicy veggies(w/ jerk chicken), & a sweet bread. I also got the watermelon splash. My Oxtail was so amazing, I don't know if its authentic, but I do know that its just plain delicious. The meat was so tender and perfectly seasoned. The rice and beans were also very good and it got extra flavor with all the juices from the meat. Now for the sweet bread, festival I think its called, it was the first thing I ate. It was crispy on the outside and soft and moist in the inside. I just wish I had gotten 2 or 3 pieces! As for the jerk chicken, I thought it was ok, but my husband really liked it. Both of the entrees were pretty big and filled us up. The watermelon splash was very good too. It was very refreshing with a subtle ginger taste. After eating our delicious food, I went up to the window to pay and he asked how our food was. I told him everything was great and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. He was very happy to hear that. P.S you get 50% of an entree w/ the purchase of another when you check in on yelp

Alright: it's been over a year since I first encountered the culinary blessing that is "the Jamaican food truck," and it's high time to give credit where it's due. This is seriously an excellent source of food. The oxtails, curried goat, and brown stew chicken are all among the tastiest meals available in Tucson for under $10, the pineapple/carrot juice is one of the most unusual and delicious beverages I've come across, and Duwayne has found a way to turn festival fritters into an art form (you'll get one with your meal). The bottom line: if you are not yet addicted to D's Island Grill, then you had probably better change that immediately.

I've never written a review on yelp before but I had to for this place. My buddy and I was only in Tucson for the night and this place was by far the Best part. The food was sooooo gooooood. I had the oxtail stew and my buddy had the jerk chicken. Everything tasted amazing!

NOW LOCATED AT 250 W GRANT RD. Like another yelper, a few months ago I was on my way to the east side planning to grab a stew chicken combo. Only to notice the beautiful imitation of a Jamaican flag (on the side of the truck) and crafted a quick u-turn to be pleasantly greeted by the very humble and chef-magician 'D'. So the other D is no longer part of the team but there is no change in service or quality. This D is the magician that creates the authentic meals that will make your mouth water just thinking about it. Being of Jamaican origin, I can confirm, this is especially good food prepared with original Jamaican seasoning, and skills obviously passed down from D's Jamaican madda (translate: mother)! :-) Best dishes: Stew Chicken or Jerk Chicken, rice and peas, veggies and/or coleslaw with fried plantain (some may call it sweet or fried banana!) and festival (which some call sweet dough or sweet bread). I don't eat red meat but can say every friend I have taken there to eat has given top ratings for the oxtail, curry goat and beef stew. Best drink: Watermelon with ginger (wish I could keep it cold enough to get two or three cups to last me the rest of the day) Mmmm... now I'm hungry for some Island food... see you there tomorrow I guess!!!! PS: Latest buzz... D Island Grill will be at Tucson Meet Yourself Festival again (October 14 - 16, 2011) I ate there twice in one day last year :-p

Yes....yet another 5 star review for this place! :) I noticed this food truck was on the list of top places in Tucson. And after reading the numerous awesome reviews, I had to try it for myself for lunch (& of course took a friend along with me lol). Eventhough it was about a 15 minute drive from where I work, it was definitely worth the trip! At 1st, I was a little bothered that we were told it would be a 10-minute wait for our food (since we only had an hr for lunch), but quickly got over it once I saw that food was actually still cooking on the grill. Knowing that I wasn't getting some reheated food that had been sitting under a heat lamp made up for the wait :) Once we got our food, i couldn't help but to take a photo of it as it looked amaaaaaaazing. and the taste was wayyyyyyyyyyy better than I expected. The jerk chicken was very flavorful and came right off the bone. The fried fish also.....out of this world. Everything was great. When getting ready to leave, I asked for more of the "festival bread" and was in shock when I saw him actually making it while we waited. This was the 1st food truck I visited that I actually left a "tip". I used to frequent the "other" Jamaican restaurant in town, but yea.....I won't be going back there lol. If you haven't tried this truck, i DEFINITELY recommend it. You won't be disappointed!! :)

Oh Em Gee this is good stuff! Seriously, I think Jamaican is my new favorite food! Parked at Broadway & Wilmot, you'll find this lunch truck in the Chase parking lot, Monday through Saturday, 11 to 8. Look for the big green X. Entrees listed on the menu are offered on a rotating schedule, but Jerk Chicken is always available. The vegetable sides also change daily. So far I've tried the fried bananas and the steamed cabbage -- which sounds bland but packs a spicy yummy wallop. Entrees are served on a bed of rice and pigeon peas and garnished with a fried dough that puts hush puppies to shame. Portions are huge! It's worth it to stop here just for one of the juices which include Watermelon Splash (watermelon juiced with ginger) and Carrot/Ginger juice -- both are delicious. There also offer Jamaica. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, it is worth your while to give this place a try.

Got the jerk chicken, it was really really good. There was a lot of food which was good because it costed like $8. Not super cheap like some Mexican food trucks but I'll definitely return to try their oxtail and other daily specials. UPDATE: I went during lunch for their $5 lunch special to get the oxtail, it was delicious. Not a ton of meat, and a little less food than the regular orders but still worth it. I still think this place is a tad pricey for the amount you get but its the only truck of its kind in Tucson and if that's the cost of having Jamaican food in Tucson then so be it. The meats there are soo good.

It's all about the goat... Seriously. Have you ever had curried goat? Man up, get over to D&D and get you some. Aside from goat, there are several Jamaican meals to be had from the wonderfully located truck (Wilmot north of Broadway). After driving past the colorful truck many times, I decided to give it a shot and I was very pleased. All the meat entrees are grilled outside, and the side dishes are excellent. The cornmeal fritters alone make this a worthy stop. Everything you'd expect from a Jamaican restaurant can be found here, though it's take out in little styrofoam coffins. If you ever want to feel the love and try something that isn't easy to find in Tucson, eat here. Help a local business thrive and enjoy something unique!

D's did not disappoint. I can't say I've ever had better Jamaican food, and I'll be shocked if I ever have better than this. Everything was vibrant and flavorful and the juices were mesmerizing. My only regret is that I don't live in Tucson to go here more often.

I pretty much totally agree with all the 5 star ratings and reviews! D's is the Real Deal! I am Jamaican, and quite frankly, also a great cook, so I can attest to the fact that D's food is authentic and very delicious. When taking a break from the kitchen and in the mood for a taste of home, I am always happy with his food. The Jerk Chicken is fantastic, so is the slaw, the Oxtails and Curry Goat. "D" is also a really nice guy, offers good customer service with a smile, and knows exactly what he is doing in the kitchen. For real authentic Jamaican food, D's is definitely tops in Tucson!

The vegetable of the day is my favorite (and probably the only vegetarian plate on the menu). It's a generous serving of rice & peas, festival, cabbage, and plantains. I recommend washing it down with one of the juices. I have dreams about the Watermelon Splash, it's lightly sweet and so refreshing! The sorrel is also very good. Nice and tart, not as sweet as some of the jamaica served in town.

We've been meaning to try this place for a long time and finally went for lunch today. AWESOME! I had the jerk chicken meal. It was very moist and fell off the bone. The seasonings and sauce were really good. It came with rice/beans, slaw and festival. Absolutely zero complaints. My boyfriend had the jerk chicken and fried fish combo. Also very excellent. We also had a bottle of pineapple soda and champagne soda. Very tasty. The server was a very nice young man. We will definitely return!!

At tonight's food truck round up we got the Jerk chicken and dirty rice. I really like the sauce on the chicken, it was a Jamaica jerk style BBQ sauce that was great with the chicken. The dirty rice was flavorful and filling with a lil' bit of beans and spices. I can't wait to try more next time.

(Really more of a 4.5) My husband and I shared the fried fish and jerk chicken plates and were very impressed with the flavors of everything on the plate. The sauce on the jerk chicken was tangy with a pleasant spice, and the spices on the fish were lovely. The slaw served was fresh, crisp and sweet-citrusy. The rice was a bit dry but quite flavorful with bits of beans and meat mixed in for added punch. As an added bit of loveliness: we told the server we wouldn't be having dessert, but he insisted we "sample" their sweet potato pie--on the house. We agreed and he proceeded to bring out not a sample, but rather, a sizable slice, topped with whipped cream and carmel sauce! It was moist and delicious: sweet without being overwhelming. Two thumbs up!!

One of my favorite places to grab lunch. I have had everything on the menu and it is all delicious. If you have never had Jamaican food before and don't consider yourself very adventurous get the jerked chicken, you won't be disappointed! The owner and chef DuWayne is one of the friendliest people you will meet, not surprising if you have ever visited Jamaica.
