Good BBQ, especially the ribs- usually fall off the bone tender and we really love their hot BBQ sauce, it has a nice kick without the sweet. I put it on everything. Great brisket, smoked turkey, and the jalapeno cheddar sausage is a favorite. Love the assortment of sides offered. On Sundays kids eat free (very cool). We've been several times, and will continue to frequent Dickeys as long as it keeps up!

I never write reviews for places unless it's either exceptional or terrible. This place Dickeys has good BBQ and sides however I question how sanitary they REALLY are with their food. I say this because the place is disgusting. I was just in there for a quick lunch and the place was disgusting. No table was clean, food and scraps all over. The drink and sauce station was ABSOLUTELY a mess. The ice teas were out as well as the lids. The counter looked like a stampede had just run through it. On top of that, the bathroom (which I always try to avoid at any public place) was sickening. The toilet looked like some one had vomited in it, with puddles and sticky floors. Seriously super disappointing. In addition, half of their staff and the manager was just sitting at the bar laughing and carrying on. I mean come on people this is a place where people eat, we expect it to be clean and the staff to be attentive. It was like they all just took a break at your local sport bar with your good ol boys. With that I would not be surprised if the kitchen and counter where they prepare food was just as nasty. So if you go there beware, not sure if I will ever be going back which is a shame cause their food is pretty good.

I was so excited to bring my wife to Dickey's. I first went to Dickey's when I was in Texas a couple years ago and loved it. Recently while in Boise,ID......last week I went to the Dickey's there. Today I found a coupon on Living Social and was excited since that's where we planned on going. It's a far drive for us, but we went ahead and came on out here. One word.....DISAPPOINTED! We both went with a 2 meat plate, all 4 meats were different and DRY! Mac and cheese was mushy, potato casserole tasted like instant potatoes. Waffle fries didn't have the normal seasoning. Then we ordered pecan pie, old and stale. At least the tea was good. Needless to say we won't be back. Sigh....

We stopped in around 1:00pm on a Sunday. Typical after Church rush, but the staff did not seem to have the urgency needed for the line that was too the door. I was disappointed in the wait and what I would call "adequate" service. We got ours to go and the girls working the counter did not know our order was ready until I asked. I was expecting my kids to eat free, that was because I did not see the fine print, that it is DINE-IN only on Sundays. No big deal, my mistake. The cashier even checked with her boss before I noticed the details on the sign. I was pleasantly surprised by the food (beef brisket), even though others had told me how good it was. Even the chicken nuggets my kids got were crispy and delicious. BBQ beans, Mac n cheese, and coleslaw are great. Will be eating here again, just not as frequent.

Something needs to change! I love the food, usually get the ribs with waffle fries which is really good BUT I shouldn't have to give me order to 4 different people down the assembly line who all run around like chickens with their heads cut off. That's just stressful and sad because I enjoy the food and don't want them to go out of business. I remember going to the Dickeys on 1st avenue. There you would speak with 1 person who took your order and charged you for it. That way at least you could go get your drinks and sauce and take a seat while they handled the rest.

First time here - their ribs were smoked perfectly, the pulled pork was perfect, but the cut of brisket was below standard. The sides were okay. It's a good place to bring young kids; a very casual atmosphere. Don't expect anything more than the basics.

Brisket and pork were good. Sides were also quite good. Chicken so dry we could not eat it.

So after the first review the restaurant sent a message wanting my contact information so they could get an idea of how they could improve. I gave them a valid email, of which I have never received any correspondence to. Guess they really weren't all that interested after all.

A group of about five of us meet weekly to chat and exchange info. Two places we rotate to have closed so I suggested Dickey's. We agreed that it was not worth it to return in the future. The reasons: none of us liked the order process, we prefer to sit down and be waited on by caring server. The menu is confusing. The beverage choices were poor and ridiculous ( I am a wine drinker and the rest drink beer). The food was good, but the servings were small for the cost. And lastly the place looked as if it needed a thorough cleaning. Sorry.

The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and welcoming and the Sunday Karaoke is a pleasant, fun surprise! I recommend EVERYTHING on the menu (although, I have not tried the fried okra)... but, the BEST and sweetest part of my visit (besides karaoke) was the FREE ice cream! Sundays are FUN! and KIDS EAT FREE! AND, and... there's karaoke! I have only one thing to say about that: BRILLIANT! NO other restaurant of this type has the guts to try this. Karaoke in a high turn-over BBQ joint. Customers can order, sing a song, eat, sing again and then have a free ice cream cone for the road. Karaoke was from 4pm-8pm, so, I know where to bring the WHOLE family every Sunday! Another BONUS was the full bar! They serve BEER, WINE AND LIQUOR!

I hate giving bad reviews but this place is just NOT good! Staff definitely needs more training and the menu is confusing to go through. The food was fast food quality but their price suggests otherwise. Their BBQ sauce is very good though and that is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1. I find it almost impossible for them to make it in that shopping center. It's sooo close to me and I was looking forward to going here and trying it but unfortunately I will definitely not be back any time soon.

I was excited to try this place since it is in Oro Valley, closer to home. We walked in expecting to be seated. Once we realized this was not how business was done here, we stepped in towards the counter. We stared at the menu above the counter which is not very well put together. The staff kind of stared back. I thought the prices were average for a BBQ joint. Wife ordered the rib plate and I ordered the 3 meat combo. All rang up it was about 33 bucks. Surprisingly, I found the portions to be much smaller than I had anticipated. The brisket was good once BBQ sauce was added. The ribs were dry and average at best, as was the ham. The sides were small but filled me up none the less. Wife did not care for her ribs, or sides. I felt like I was in a fast food place that was dimly lit. In the future I will probably go elsewhere, but wanted to at least give them a try. I would suggest staying safe and heading to FD's or Brushfire. Oh, free self serve ice cream. Probably the best tasting thing here.

Wow, I have had no less than 6 great meals from this Dickeys ! I love the brisket, and the pulled pork but really i haven't had anything that i didn't enjoy. The staff has always been friendly and efficient. i have done take out as well as eaten in, its been a great experience each time. I usually don't have left overs because im known to eat everything on my plate and usually my wife's but saving a little brisket for the next mornings eggs is hard to beat too! Give them a try when you are craving for some nice BBQ !

The Pros - Free soda refills. Nice clean environment. Free soft serve ice cream! Warm BBQ sauce, delicious! A full service bar opening soon. Meats can be ordered TX style by the pound. NW location that needs BBQ on that side of town. The Cons - The BBQ is of the fast food variety, bummer. A bit pricey considering the portion sizes & quality. The order takers & cashiers are very poorly trained. No one mentions that you can help yourself to the free ice cream. I ordered some end cut brisket but it didn't taste like brisket, more like a tri-tip, rather chewey & stringy, no smoke ring, bland & virtually no smokey taste; Also tried the cheddar sausage, unfortunately it was no better than store bought quality. The turkey was pretty bad too, it tasted just like some type of deli turkey from the supermarket, not good. However about those BBQ sauces - 3 varieties are kept in a food warmer and piping hot, what a great idea! Seriously they're actually quite delicious and obviously taste much better warm than cold. Whoever thought of that should get a raise and I'm almost tempted to reward them an extra star just for that, no kidding it's that good. Dickey's is a huge chain, and as far as chains go it's only slightly better than Bill Miller BBQ (Several locations around San Antonio & Austin). Though of much lesser quality than Famous Dave's but not even in the same universe as the Rudy's chain (Which is only just average BBQ at best). So if you're craving *real* Texas BBQ you'll probably be disappointed, but if you don't know the difference or don't much care then give it a try for yourself, who knows you may like it, especially for the warm BBQ sauce.

We spotted Dickey's at Magee and Oracle (SE corner, in a strip mall) & wanted to try the new place. It turned out to be day three of their grand opening, so we waited in a line reaching the door. Everyone, both customers and staff, were friendly. I could see the owner dashing around, checking on things, and bringing food to people. They had an enormous turnout! Gary and I (2/3 of our "Dining Trio") both ordered the bigger ribs plate ($12), kind of pricey for a lunch, but the food was great. We had ribs plus a choice of two sides (our fried okra was outstanding; green beans, potato salad and coleslaw were yummy, too). It also came with a roll, onions and pickles, for those who wanted to make a sandwich out of the platter. I found the ribs meaty and very tasty. One end of a rib was a bit tough but the rest was tender and excellent. I believe they had two BBQ sauces available where the soda dispensers are located, if you wanted more than what came on the ribs. They also have a free self-serve soft ice cream dispenser next to the beverage area. It was quite popular and tasty (I only had room for a few licks, so Gary gave me a teeny-sized one!) The ambiance is Western and very casual. It has the generally same layout as the restaurant prior to it (a Mediterranean place), but with the Western decor. Lots of room to eat indoors or some tables outdoors (shaded) on the sidewalk, as well. I definitely would come back to try some of the other options. They offer a meal of the day special. I liked the vibe there, the staff was working really hard to accommodate a huge grand opening crowd -- and it's fun to try new places and to support new businesses!

Nothing but salt. Expensive for a serve yourself style. Ribs were tuff and all you could taste was salt

Pros: BBQ MEAT Cons: Not many side choices for a person with dairy allergies like myself and that created a reduced value overall. 8 bucks for a portion of meat and no sides is just lame. REALLY SLOW SERVICE! MERCY! The food is already cooked no? WTF? Too pricey considering all I get to eat there is meat. The bread has fairy in it too. Suggestion: 1. Have more non dairy sides. a. Baked Potato, Potato Wedges, potato chips b. Corn on the freaking cob (un buttered) c. Simple Salad bar d. Simple rustic french baguette rolls instead of the milky butter rolls or in addition , simple non dairy buns (use a local bakery like beyond bread or a French one that is popular. e. Steamed veggies (asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, carrots, zucchini etc. f. Roasted veggies (zucchini, asparagus, onions, eggplant, tomatoes) g. Fresh fruit salad 2. FIGURE OUT WHY IT TAKES SO LONG TO GET FOOD THATS ALREADY PREPARED ON A PLATE AND FIX THAT. Chipotles can do it so can you.

Best brisket and potatoes I've had from a semi fast food restaurant in a long time. Highly recommend them.

Wow, this BBQ is wonderful and the service is perfect, they have a great grasp on customer satisfaction. Not only is the food very good, they give a damn about how your overall experience is. EVERYONE had a smile on their face and was more than willing to do whatever it takes to make sure you left with a smile on your face as well. This is one time I wish there were more stars available. Great job!

This is the best bbq in Tucson, which frankly isn't saying much. Its legit Texas style bbq, the best brisket you're going to find in Tucson. The pulled pork is ok but pales in comparison to what you'd get in North Carolina. its no Gates in KC but for Tucson its a much needed upgrade. I actually went to an event the day after eating Dickey's which was catered by Brushfire. The comparison was a joke. If you like your brisket tough, dry, and with minimal flavor, got to Brushfire. I've always thought Brushfire was mediocre and grossly over-rated, but this comparison close in time confirmed it for me.

Been here many times. I moved here from Missouri and brought my standards for BBQ with me. This is one of the best I've had since. However, my most recent experience was with chicken as take out, and I have to admit this is the first time the chicken has been dry. What's worse? I had to eat it with their competition's sauce as the staff forgot the sauce.

Overpriced for the portion size. Dirty, poor service. For these prices, I'd expect a wait person, real dishes and silverware. But no, get in line, get your plastic basket and plastic fork, get your canned beans and sit down. Of but wait, they have the nerve to ask for a tip? Tip for what, doing your job half assed and rudely? I usually give a place three tries, before giving up. But I'll never go back here. My time and money are in too short supply to waste in an ungrateful place like this.

My wife and I have been to locations in other states but were excited to visit a local location even though it was a 40 minute drive away. It was awful! Between the 2 of us we tried 4 different meats: Pulled pork, brisket, ham and chicken. Every single one of them was incredibly dry! The coleslaw was tasty but the Mac and cheese was mushy! I later saw someone bring out more in a plastic bag and it looked awful! The mashed potatoes tasted instant and the pecan pie was stale. Luckily we had purchased a Living Social deal and only paid half price. Had we paid full price I would have asked for a refund. On the way out we figured we would try the free ice cream since we didn't eat our meals but it was icy and had NO flavor, so we also threw that away. It was a complete bust and needless to say we will never go back!

It's a no-frills atmosphere here, but the people are nice and the food is delicious. This visit I had the spicy sausage and beef brisket. My husband had the brisket, pulled pork, and ham. All of it was very good! I love to mix their sweet bbq sauce with their spicy bbq sauce. So far the only one of their sides I haven't really cared for was the cole slaw, as I like mine a little creamier. It's just fine the way it is served as far as the hubby is concerned though. My husband's Blue Moon was ice cold. The free ice cream perfectly finishes the meaty, spicy meal.

We have been looking for a good bbq joint since moving out west with little success. The hog put across town is awesome but way too far too be convenient, dickey's is just around the corner. Pros: brisket and turkey are flavorful and moist, impressive selection of $2 beers at least on Monday, Jimmy buffett on the radio, friendly service, good bbq sauces, hack a root beer float with the free ice cream, sweet tea! Cons: sides are obviously pre-made, pulled pork was a little dry but serviceable with bbq sauce This place is convenient and the portions relatively generous. We'll be back to try the giant potatoes.

I had a Living Social coupon. The staff helped me sign up for FREE drink. They were super nice and friendly. I just ordered the meat alone with no sides. I do not need the extra body weight .. haha. Nice generous serving of meat. I have enough left over for 2 meals and snack. I poured on the sauce. The ice cream at the end was a palate cleanser. I poured lots of sauce on my take home meat. I will be back baby.

Rapid decline from their opening day. Their portion sizes are half of what they were, but the prices keep going up. The meats are kept at room temperature, as they hope the boiling barbecue sauce will keep you from noticing. Also, every time we eat here, the "free" ice cream always seems to be empty, even when there's nobody else eating there, which is a huge letdown for my kid. Sticking with Famous Dave's from now on. Also, they fry their okra while it's frozen. Disgusting.

Fantastic barbecue joint. I knew the moment I smelled the food that it would be good and it didn't disappoint. Everything our party got was great. I got a pulled pork baker. That's a baked potato loaded up with butter, cheese, and pulled pork. I slathered it with their original barbecue sauce, which was a perfect balance of sweet and savory. I was transported to another world of flavor and decadence. The ambience is really casual, and I'm knocking off a star because the TV had Fox News on and it was hard to eat with bill o'reilly talking bullshit and I sat directly in front of a picture of Ronald Reagan. I also ordered a fountain soda which I didn't receive but the free ice cream made up for that.

BBQ. Texas Chain. In the old Picazzo's location. Tasty faire. I had the 2 meat meal. Brisket and pulled pork. Sauces good. My wife got the Monday special, Big BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Our friends got the 2 and 3 meat meals with the sausage. All meats good. Don't forget the soft serve ice cream included in the price of the meals. All in all, not bad. I'd go back and eat there again.

Rock on Dickey's! We were waiting patiently for you to open and it was oh so worth the wait. The service was friendly and cordial and the team worked well together. We went for the XL Family pack to feed 4 of us since we couldn't decide on what to get. The brisket, ham and cheddar sausage were a hit with everyone. The waffle fries were annihilated by the kids. We are enjoying the pile of onion tanglers. The baked potato casserole and mac n cheese were delicious...but there was no where near enough if we hadn't had all the other goodies. The rolls were melt in your mouth fresh! Can't wait to try the bakers!!

This restaurant is geared toward families. Kids eat free on Sundays, there's free ice cream, and karaoke. This restaurant also somewhat feels like a chain because of the multitude of signs and general layout. I wasn't a fan of the ordering process: you order at a counter, they make the food right there, you follow your food along its journey, and then you pay at the register. Kinda like a cafeteria. My partner had the day's special-- a big brisket sandwich, with 2 sides and a drink. My partner got Mac and cheese and green beans and a sprite. My partner said it was good, but that other bbq places were preferable. I had the big bbq sandwich with pulled pork. It was decent. My favorite part was the sweet bbq sauce. The free ice cream was a nice perk, but there was something off about it. Like there wasn't enough cream in the recipe, it was a weird texture and flavor. Overall, a decent place, but not the most amazing.

When to Dickey for the first time today this place is a cross between McDonald's and a school cafeatera stand in line to order move down the line get food then you have to get your own silverware and drinks the food is good but cold needs to be a sit down place with wait staff

I came on the second day it was open and it seems like the staff is still trying to work out the kinks but overall Dickey's was a great experience. The food was excellent. I had the 2 meat plate with ribs, spicy cheddar sausage, mac & cheese and waffle fries, which was $11. I initially thought they skimped on the meat as you only get 2 ribs and a small pile of sausage but between the meat and sides the food more than filled me up. The ribs were perfectly cooked, fall off the bone tender, which is just the way I like them and the sausage was pretty good as well. The staff was very helpful and super nice but was probably still in training as they were working through some "newness" to their jobs. Overall, I will definitely be back and sooner rather than later as I am already craving those ribs!

Good food. Amazing staff! Deals of the Day are the way to go. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich, topped with cole slaw, onions, pickles and barbecue sauce.

I love bbq and the offerings in Tucson are all mediocre. But just ok bbq is better than none. I've been to several Dickeys bbq resturants over the years and the food is always ok but the service is always really good. This particular Dickeys is an exception. I've been to the Oro Valley spot 3 or 4 times looking for a quick bbq lunch. The folks taking my order always act like they are on a chain gang. The last time I stopped by they didn't even take my order. A Monday at 11:30am, no line, one other couple was paying, and I'm not kidding the guy didn't look up to even say hi the 4 or 5 minutes I stood at the counter. I just left. I get it, Mondays are no fun but come on. Add that to the so so, usually cold, food, greasy sides, and messy drink area and this place goes from an "ok, I'm hungry why not" to a "I'd rather go to McDonnalds".

Our family stopped by for lunch. We all had a little variety. Pulled pork sandwich and chicken devoured by the kids with sides of macaroni and cheese and baked potato casserole. Which were all very good! We ha a few meat plates with sides to try the pulled pork, chicken, honey ham and brisket. Everything was cooked nicely and tender and good smoked flavor. They offer a variety of BBQ sauces at their station for condiments and drinks. Original - Spicy - and Sweet. Which were pretty good. The spicy has a nice warm aftertaste :) however the original was our favorite. Great stop! The staff was friendly and....there is free ice cream!!! :)

Wonderful food, helpful staff, and great atmosphere! I'm excited this BBQ is so close to me. I recommend the smokehouse salad with turkey or the ribs or the chicken. The mac and cheese, fries, and green beans are my preferred sides. It's a cafeteria style restaurant, meaning the staff members cut the meat right there in front of you and often drop sides (such as fries and okra) as soon as they are ordered so please don't be rude and impatient. The wait is worth it! If you want faster service there is a great online ordering option. Or you can call in. Food will be hot and ready for you when you pick up. Worth checking out if you are on the northwest side of town. I'll be going back again and again!

I've eaten here several times over the lunch hour and thought it was ok. I do think it's pretty expensive for the small size of the meal. Service is usually on the slow side. Twice, they have run out of chicken and I had to choose something else. I was prompted to write a review following my experience a few nights ago. I went to pick up 2 meals to go. The place was dead except for one woman ahead of me who couldn't decide what she wanted. It literally took 12 min. for her to place her order. She had a million questions and kept saying she couldn't make up her mind. Meanwhile, there were 4 workers behind the counter screwing off instead of just taking my order. Really unacceptable. The manager even walked by into the back room without saying a word. When it was finally my turn, the girl at the register kept repeatedly asking the girl who was packing my order, "why do you care? why are you so focused on getting bbq sauce? why do you even care?" She clearly wanted to screw around and was annoyed that the other girl was taking her time and ensuring the order was right. I was tempted to tell the cashier she was the ONLY one who obviously cared and better care that I was spending over $30. Cashier never greeted me or said anything other than asking if I wanted a drink. No thank you, no nothing. This was the last straw. Small portions, high cost for what you get and young girls who would rather b.s. behind the counter than do their jobs. At one time, I was also a teen girl working fast food but had a manager that ran a tight ship. The only interaction I have seen from the manager is hearing him tell the workers to make sure they stick exactly to the 3oz. portion and never give a larger amount. It came across as stingy and probably shouldn't be said in front of paying customers. This place won't be open long due to the crappy service. From now on, I'll grab Brushfire, Famous Dave's or Shanes. More bang for the buck at those places.

Arrived at around 7:15 to 7:30. The line wasn't very long but had to wait at least 30 minutes to place our order. When we finally received our food, it was COLD. I had the beef brisket and it resembled pulled pork rather than brisket. Since it was cold, grease had begun to coagulate on the meat. Other than the taste of salt it was flavorless. The ribs were rubbery and chewy and made me question if it rally is smoked BBQ. For $30 for the two of us, I expected more. The sides were okay, but bland. The food was so poor I should have demanded a refund. However the real problem was nobody seemed to be either in charge or know what they were doing. So, good luck in finding a manager. A lesson learned. I won't be back.
