So how many stars should you give a place if you have two total dinners during your stay in Tucson and you find excuses to go back the second night to try something else at the same place? Because we totally ended up back here for dinner number two after an incredible first dinner. We read it was divey and that's true. Sadly the dollar bills were all gone but we overheard the waitress tell another table that they collected over $10K to donate to charity when they stripped the walls. The menu is simple to the point that you have two appetizers: wings or chips and salsa. I ordered the chicken and ribs combo on the first night and my wife got a half rack of ribs. You know the phrase "fall off the bone tender"? Well until that dinner I always believed that was a bit of an exaggeration. That was until she moved her baked potato on her plate and one of the ribs literally fell off the rack as it was brushed by the potato. We were blown away at the tenderness and flavor of the ribs and chicken. These were the best ribs we've ever eaten. They gave us a plate of bbq sauce but it wasn't even necessary on account of the mesquite grilling and their special seasoning. I'm sort of drooling on my keyboard as a Pavlovian response just thinking about it. On the second night, we tried to check out another local restaurant in downtown Tucson that was highly reviewed on Yelp. We had a hard time finding parking though and as we pulled onto a sidestreet to formulate a plan we kind of looked at each other and we knew what needed to happen: a return trip to Daisy Mae's! The wife went with the half rack again but I went with an 18 oz T-Bone Medium rare although it might as well have been a big slab of butter it was so easy to cut through. The steak melted in my mouth and I was ready to die a happy many right then and there. The menu was simple because it didn't have to be complicated. Sides are simple. Apps are simple. About the only complicated thing was the beer menu which was twice the length of the food portion of the menu. Both nights, we were amazed by how light the crowd was. This place should be at capacity but we were thankful it wasn't. I have no idea when we will be in Tucson next but it won't be without a stop at Daisy Mae's. Hold on, I need to get in the car and run an errand...be back in 5 hours.

Unbelievably great! Super cute character. Had the full rack of ribs and a filet both were awesome. Loved the Texas toast too. Our server Renee was a doll! You have to try this place. I grew up in Tucson and had never been here. I will definitely come back.

Bomb! Better than: * Lil Abners * Pinnacle Peak * PY steakhouse Get the signature 14oz Ribeye in medium rare. Refill the butter toast! Life is good... Oh did I mention service was awesome!

Their meet is DELICOUS! Cooked to perfection, flavorful, juicy, tender... Oh geeze! Just absolutely delicious. Now, steak on it's own is fantastic, but the sides make it heavenly. The beans are outstanding. I love the fact that this is place is a hidden gem, that gives it a great touch! You have to try! So so good!

We had the meat lovers which included half a rack of ribs, 8 oz ribeye and wings for $36. It came with baked potato, beans, salad and Texas toast. We shared it even though I guess it was made for one person. Who can eat that much is beyond me but hey we're in America... It's possible for one man to eat it all by himself! All I have to say is the food and service was great!

What an interesting find on vacation! The staff was super friendly and the food was incredible BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! They had cheap wine options as well. The atmosphere was nothing like i've ever seen. Very "DIVEY" but loved it! The people in the place were all of various ages and seemed to all love the spot. I suspects lots of regulars (which shows you a good place!) Their good was great, service was great, had a good time! If i'm ever in the area again, i'd seriously consider going back.

I CANNOT understand why there aren't THOUSANDS of reviews for this place. It looks like it's been here for frickin' EVER...why less than 100 reviews when the steak is this monumental? THAT'S RIGHT, PEOPLE...MONUMENTAL STEAK. I did not come here for the: - Baked Potato - Beans - Buttered Toast - Beer - "Barn mates with college dorm" decor - Excellent Service (DAMMIT! That didn't start with a "B"... let's try again...) - Bitchin' Service with a Smile (Ahhh...better!!) No, I came here for the S.T.E.A.K. ...and NO, I was NOT disappointed! Imagine the best steak money can buy. Now, imagine a steak that's BETTER than that one. Because this one will be. I got the Ribeye (14 oz.) and it was perfect, although I ordered it medium, and I wish now that I would have ordered it medium rare. I've had many, many good quality steaks, and this one would be in my top TWO. Only $26. TWENTY SIX BUCKS ONLY!! Mesquite Grilled. "Mesquite...Mesquite." Awww, c'mon, say it with me people... "Mesquite...mesquite...mesquite................" This might be the last word I ever say...muttered right before I die. The family leans in, and I mouth, oh-so-quietly, "mesquite". That's right...this will be my "Rosebud." The service was very friendly and the environment was "poor college bar". The toast is just toast. The potato was just a damn potato. I don't care. The beans were actually quite yummy. I think they're made with some green salsa or tomatillo salsa. Tasty. But the steak...the STEAK........O.M.G. "Mesquite..." ***breathes last breath***

If velvet was a flavor, it would be the ribeye I just ate. YUM!!! Will definitely be savoring the envy of others as I describe to them the assault of decadent deliciousness upon my tongue. My wife said I cried little when i finished the last bite. The first thing my daughter did the next morning was if we could go to Daisy Mae's for breakfast?

I normally don't give five stars. Especially on my first visit. But this place certainly impressed. It is a little divey, but great food and great service. We had wings and chips and salsa as appetizers. Wings we're good. Chips and salsa were good. But let's face it we did not come here because of the chips and salsa. We came for steaks. We had steaks and ribs. The meals come with a salad, potato, beans and bread. The salad was fresh and the ranch was top notch. All of the sides are realllly good. Seriously even the bread was tasty. But the steak and the ribs were the stars. Steak was so flavorful and cooked exactly right. They cook the steak in the back and you can actually watch them cooking it over the Mesquite. That smoke and such a wonderful flavor to the state that it didn't need salt or pepper and it tasted wonderful. Great flavor, great cooking. The ribs are fall of the bone tender. I'm not even a ribs fan and I liked their ribs. So, great food, great prices and great service. Like I said, I normally wouldn't give it five stars on the first visit. But this place impressed my entire family.

Stopped in Tucson for the night while driving from New Orleans to Los Angeles and was super happy to find this great spot. The restaurant had a very cool vibe with a big outdoor seating area, indoor fireplace and walls (and ceilings and furniture!) covered with dollar bills. The food was amazing. My entire family loved everything we ordered: 14-oz ribeye steak (soooo yummy!), half rack of ribs (fall off the bone delicious), and the fish special (grilled halibut). All entrees came with a perfectly baked potato and family-style baked beans. No complaints at all! To top it all off, there was a nice beer and wine menu and attentive service. Exactly what we needed at the end of a long day of driving.

Have you been here? No? Get in your car now! Im from Texas, and I have had a lot of steak in this lil pseudo asian body of mine. So I think it is safe to say that I know a thing or two about steaks. I came to Arizona on holiday. The funny thing about that is I didn't expect much from the food scene in Tucson. I was right. The best thing I could have there was Eegees (which by the way is absolutely delicious wish they were in houston..... like for serious those icey things would sell like hot cakes there). Then came the suggestion to come here. I basically laughed at the thought. Desert plus Steak equals nope. But I was definitely counting my chickens before they hatched. Or milking my cow before...... whatever. Basically, this place needs to be in Houston as well. First off the decoration is such a cool concept, I mean the first thing when I see a whole bunch of dollar bills I automatically think stripper but if you dont think of that its a pretty cool concept. I also heard about them donating those dollars to charity which I can get on board with. The steaks themselves are absolutely delicious. I got the ribeye. The thing that I look for in a steak is how much of this steak is usually edible. I dont like getting a bunch of fat and grizzle. If half my steak is that, it is an automatic F. I will be pissy and let my voice heard on YELP in a phase I like to coin as my "Yelper Tantrum." My ribeye was divine. It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the excess that I had was like 1/25th of what I actually ate. A major plus is that if you are in the room with the window overlooking the grill you can see them grill your steak right there. The service was perfect and the beans and salad that came with my meal was on point. I cannot wait to come back here next year!

We were starving coming back to Tucson from the desert museum and this was the closest steakhouse enroute. We came at a time before dinner service when restaurants are usually empty - this one was as well. Service was adequate - no frills and to the point. The decor is something like a dive/sports bar. For how much they charge for steak, I did not expect to receive my food in a plastic plate (I forgive the paper napkins though). The house wine is decent and cheap, goes well with the meat, and serving size is great. Ribs and steaks were average, but the wings were excellent. In the end, not a bad place, but overpriced. I could come back here to watch a game and drink a beer with some wings if I lived closer.

This is an awesome (non-kitschy) cowboy/southwest style steakhouse. A zillion type of beers in the fridge. Cool thing is that the "higher end" beers are all only $4 a pop so you can get a great deal on some killer micro-brews if that's your fancy, or you can go true cowboy and get yourself a Coors Original with your steak (the banquet beer, y'all!). The main attraction--the ribeye--was definitely worth the price of admission.14 oz, even cut, nice healthy cap, a perfect ratio of meat to good fat, simple seasoning so that you taste the meat, excellent grill marks, but not too charred...in sum...the quintessential ribeye. In regards to the sides, the potato was fresh and hot. The beans were excellent and expertly augmented the steak/potato combo. They were not mushy and they had that right amount of smoke and spice that makes cowboy beans so great. Service was great. Very attentive and didn't miss a word or drop a beat. Now that I'm done writing this I've become hungry. I'm heading back for another steak.

Our kind of place! Killer food, great service and unpretentious (to say the least!) atmosphere! Forget those "Western" style, cowboy "authentic", touristy places. This is about the meat. We had the 14 oz ribeye, medium rare ($28) cooked to perfection on the mesquite fired open-air grill out front. The cut of meat was so flavorful, tender and juicy we both swooned at every bite. It was perfectly accompanied by a wonderful baked potato with all the fixings, crisp salad, Texas toast (which was cooked over the grill the evening we were there) and yummy baked beans. I didn't even "get" the idea of cowboy beans with grilled meats before this but I never had any this tasty. We sopped up the bean juice with our toast. The menu is limited with no other options for sides but they sure knew what worked best. Also have a terrific beer menu. I'd love to try the baby backs, chicken and even the fish. They did offer a combination plate the night we were there but we needed to start with the ribeye since we were Daisy Mae virgins. Had to know if Daisy Mae deserved the acclaim. Oh, yes, yes, YES! Wait staff was lovely and attentive while all their customers became deliriously sated. Hubby said, "Now I understand that reviewer's (Glenn B of Santa Ana) Rosebud reference!" It is on the way back to town from the fantastic Desert Museum and not far from the 10.We WILL be back whenever we get down to Tucson. (I'm like Paul S at this moment, drooling on my keyboard!)

I was making my annual visit to Tucson and going straight from the airport to get my fix of Daisy Mae's. Instead of going with my tried and true selection of the rib eye, I decided to change it up and try something different, the baby back ribs. Let me preface I am not a fan of pork, however, the baby back ribs are their house specialty so I figured I would give it a whirl and go all in and get a full rack. One word describes it. OMAZING. The ribs were cooked perfectly where the meat came right off the bone and was sooooo tender. The flavor from being cooked over mesquite wood can't be properly described with words alone. That coupled with whatever sauce they had on the side is something I'm still think about as I'm typing out this review at midnight. Well worth the $25 for the full rack. I'm so glad my friend didn't take me up when I offered him some so he could see why I was so sold on the first bite. Just more for me!

Had the ribs and the rib-eye. Both were fantastic. They give quiet a bit of food for your dollar. Went home feeling full and satisfied!

Great place. Seems like an absolute hole in the wall, until you get to the back, FULL, parking lot. Atmosphere is very laid back, service is good, and the craft beers are great. Ribs were fall off the bone, too much so. I actually had to eat with a fork. I'm not a fan of that, but they tasted great. We'll absolutely return.

One of my favorite steak house in Tucson. Rib-eye steak and BBQ ribs are tasty! Of course, chicken wings too!

Food: I've ordered the porterhouse (rare), on two occasions, and the full rack of ribs once. The porterhouse is good, although can be a bit tough in a few places. For such a large cut of meat, I was impressed with how tender it was overall; it was good meat. Seasoning was lighter the second time I had it. Although it certainly allowed me to taste the meat properly, I'm not sure if that was a good or a bad thing. After ~30 ounces of prime beef... Entrees are accompanied by a starter salad (iceberg + some tomatoes + one slice of sharp red onion + dressing of choice), baked beans, a baked potato, and buttered Texas toast. The salad is always fine, and the blue cheese dressing is solid. The toast is...toast, and the potato...is a potato. It comes with butter, chives, and sour cream. A good accompaniment to the beef. The baked beans always make me sad, as they're kind of tasteless. The last time I went with a group, I was the only one to touch them. Meals here are always such; there are no other side orders. Salad + meat + beans + toast is the way it goes. They apparently have desserts (?). Service is fairly attentive, but can get a little spotty if it's a busy night. Generally good, but impersonal.

The perfect dive for the perfect steak!!!! You would never stop in this dive without finding on yelp or by recommendation. Simple menu.... Steak and chicken. The unique interior features dollar bills on all the walls. About $50,000 worth.

A quirky little gem of a place. Pros: 1) We west-siders have VERY few offerings without driving a fair bit. 2) classic traditional steak/salad/tater/beans experience at a very fair price. Cons: 1) no real ambience in a place that is kind of rooted in plastic tablecloths and beat up tables .... I guess that gives it sort of the retro-hipster vibe (like the kind that make it seem "cool" to go to a dive bar and drink PBR; 2) very limited menu if anyone in your group isn't into steak or ribs. For a steak place, the restaurant world is generally divided into two options: fantastic high-end steakhouses that require you to take out a second mortgage versus chain restaurants and mom-and-pop dives that use inferior cuts of meat. Daisy Mae's gives you a chance to get a very good steak (even a filet), salad, and sides for under thirty bucks and in a casual local "old Arizona" style place. Thumbs up!

I always hit this spot while I'm in Tucson on business. If you are after white tablecloth and ego, you will not find it here. If however, you are after a quality meal, personable staff, without the fluff at reasonable prices, you just struck gold! I always order the Ribeye Steak medium rare and it was done to perfection. All dinners come with salad, bread, potato, and beans. The service is friendly and efficient. Best of all if one can go without the fluff it will cost you half that of Flemings, Ruth Chris, Sullivans, Del Frisco, etc. I have eaten at them all and they are all good. But when in Tucson this is where I go. BTW, it does have atmosphere, just not stuffy. It has its own personality. Come for the food!

My wife and I decided to try out this steak house the other night. The only ambiance is the 0ne dollar bills on the wall Ceiling and just about any place else you can image. The service staff was good and very attentive. The menu is short Steaks & Ribs. A basic dinner salad come with your meal as dose a baked potato, Cowboy beans and Texas toast. I ordered a Ribeye and my wife the ribs. The ribs are good but the stake is even better and it is a stake house. The grill outside over mesquite wood fire. This place while basic serves up a great Steak.

Looking at the restaurant, you might not expect the quality of food to be fantastic! I think the building adds to the charm of this Tucson Landmark! The Ribeye Steak could be cut with a butter knife, great grill flavor, served with a baked potatoe, all you can eat beans (which are ridiculously good) and Texas toast! My husband ordered the rack of ribs which were Smokey fall off the bone amazing! There are a ton of local, imported, and domestic beers to choose from and if you can even breathe by the time you finish this delectable dinner, there is the Chocolate Thunder cake which will almost make you cry in joy! Our server Krystal is a rockstar, so please ask for her when you go! If I could figure out how to give a 1/2 star this would easily be a 4 1/2 star experience! Go... Really...go....and Eat and Live well. Check out the pics!

We had the extreme pleasure of eating steak at Daisy Mae's while visiting our Aunt Mary in Green Valley. The Filet is absolutely awesome. The staff is very attentive and the food couldn't be better. We showed up an hour before opening (forgot to change from Texas to Arizona time) They let us sit at the bar and sip margaritas til they were ready to open. They sat us and waited on us before opening time. it was great. We even defaced a dollar and the owner hung it on the wall. When the walls are full they donate the money to a great cause. If your ever in Tucson don't miss out. This is THE PLACE TO GO if you love steak or ribs. Thanks from Roger and Linda Hartman, Sanger, TX

Wow, pricey for a steak and a couple of beers! I'll grant that the steak was really, really good! I got the T-bone; Hubby got the ribeye. Good cuts of meat. Salt and pepper only. Nothing to hide under. A little undercooked from medium rare. Delicious. But the kinda dry iceberg lettuce salad, baked potato, Texas toast and sad beans didn't make up for the price. We spent over $65. I know we won't be back. There's a lot of good steakhouses in Tucson. And they're not all so expensive.

my last visit here was interesting not knowing what to expect. Came in and the place is plastered with dollar bills and just has an interesting decor. The food here was great and they know what they're doing in the kitchen for sure! So why am i missing 2 stars? I guess it's because I like having water in my cup and seeing my waiter every now and then instead of getting the hostess to help me out. If the service was better I'd be back here again for sure.

My husband and I decided to try this place tonight. We both had the filets with baked potatoes and salad. They served all you can eat Texas toast and beans. The atmosphere is very casual. We went around 7pm on a Tuesday and there were five other tables filled. Had more tables been filled, I could see it being very loud in there. The room has one dollar bills stapled to the walls from customers, similar to pinnacle peaks ties all over. The food was very good. While it was served on camping-type plastic plates, the filet and potato were fantastic. As others mention here, the menu is fairly limited but for us it didn't matter, we eat filet when we go to steakhouses. The prices were a little higher ($30 for the filet) but it was very good food. The beans didn't seem to stand up to expectations. They were ok, lacking some flavor. The salad is a simple iceberg lettuce, cucumber, tomato and one red onion slice. The ranch dressing they served (on the side) was very good. I gave this place a four star only because the atmosphere didn't really compare to the menu/prices. Usually when we are spending $30 on a filet, the restaurant as well as staff are very professional, well dressed, a tad bit upscale, etc. That's not at all what this place is but we will go back! If you want a good steak and potato this place is exactly that.

A group of us went there for my birthday this past weekend. They were very accomodating and allowed separate checks for a group of 10. Everyone else had steak or ribs except me. I had their halibut and was very dissapointed. It was a large portion which was good but that was the only good thing about it. The halibut was over cooked, tough and dry. I had asked for tartar sauce to go with it, which they forgot and it was not until the rest of my party was almost finished with their meal that I finally receive dit. As for the rest of the party, they all raved about the steaks and ribs so if you plan to come here to eat, stick to beef and skip the fish. I would like to try again with a steak or ribs as that seems to be the way to go.

This is the best steak house in Tucson hands down!!! It has everything, full bar, quiet eating spots inside or out as well as a sports bar atmosphere with tv's to watch the game. I come to Tucson every 6 months and this is the main thing I look forward to!! I always get the Fillet and it is so tender you can cut it with your fork and combine that with a baked potato and their beans.......!

Go ribs or go home! Seriously the best ribs I've had at a restaurant. Daisy Mae's is just what you would expect from the name, down home without very many flourishes and fanfare. It's a rustic place, specializing in outdoor grilling of various meat. I've been here with a few people visiting from out of town and on the weekdays we usually have the place mostly to ourselves. The staff is very attentive and great to chat with. They have a fireplace that's nice on chilly days and a patio for the summer evenings. For food, their choices are very limited. Mostly meat, meat and more meat. I'd suggest you stick to ribs, and if you don't like ribs then stick to some of the steak/beef. I've had both fish and chicken options here, but they haven't been anything special. Their cactus (midori) margarita is pretty good as well!

Just came back from a delicious meal. With a party of four, three of us got the ribs, the fourth (my sister) got the pork chop (which I tried and was also very good). Everything was FANTASTIC! Sure it is a bit pricey but that is what I expect in a decent steakhouse with a basic menu. It was because of other Yelpers that I decided to go for ribs and not steak. Boy I wasn't disappointed. The only problem is, now when I go back, I will have such a hard time deciding between trying the steaks or going back to the delicious, fall of the bone ribs. I mean when I grabbed a bone, the meat literally fell off before I got it to my mouth. (I double checked to make sure I didn't miss any though). Oh and the sauce was awesome too! They served it on the side so if you are one who do not like sauce, you are good. But it had a nice spicy flavor to it. Highly recommended!

This place was so much fun. You know what you need to get here? Steak. Enough said. Great service, good atmosphere, and excellent service. You WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. Next time I'm in Tuscon, I'll drive outside of town to make the trek here again.

Bummer! Went to Daisy Mae's hoping for a similar experience to Lil Abners....big mistake. Ordered the ribs.....they were absolutely nasty! From what I can tell they were cooked the day before over the grill and then refrigerated then microwaved and served to me, that is the only way they could have been that nasty, and for 25 bucks....insulting. Did the server do anything about it.....nope, just handed me the check and said sorry. I should have known when I walked in and everybody in there looked bummed out including the staff. Please take my advice and avoid this place at all cost.

Stop browsing Yelp. Stop thinking. Go to Daisy Mae's Steak House. Your ordering options are limited: cow, pig, chicken. There may even be a fish option, but don't sell yourself short like that. Every order comes with a herd of sides, from salad and bread to a potato and beans. They are decent, but you are really there for the piles of perfectly cooked meat. Outside, on a grill the size of a pool table, you can watch the chef (that seems like a weak noun... how about Grillmaster?) tossing chunks of former animals around over an open flame while blasting Led Zeppelin. Inside, surrounded by walls coated in defaced currency, you can enjoy this culinary victory off of a brutally beige cafeteria plate. If this sounds like your kind of scene, rest assured, it is.

My parents both really talked up this no-frills steak/BBQ joint off the beaten path in Tucson... so when my mother and I were taking a mini-break in Tucson, it seemed like the natural choice for dinner one night. I am a Joe's devotee, so I'll admit up front that I'm holding all others up next to them... Daisy Mae's is a rootin' tootin' concrete floor and saw dust type of place, so please don't get fancy if you are coming for dinner. We came in late, sat in the bar, and our conversation was regularly interrupted by the extremely loud conversation about fake tits and NASCAR in the next room. Totally awesome! Anyway, onward and upward to the food. Our server was really not very friendly, and was extremely quiet, which is pretty much the opposite of what I would have expected from this particular restaurant.... but we were served our huge portions quickly. We each ordered a half-rack of ribs, which comes with... get ready... a side salad, side of buttered toast, side of baked beans and a baked potato. It's really too much food for one person to ingest. The ribs were described to me as "fall-off-the-bone" tender... and now I know why! Each of them quite literally, with no exaggeration, fell off the bone. I ate each one by fork, and dipped it into my sauce. This is all well and good, but was a little unwieldy. I also felt they were a tad on the fatty side... but that is not the worst thing in the world, because I have had much worse ribs in the past month (read review of Lucille's.) In fact, the ribs were savory and smoked nicely, I liked the sauce, too. And the price was right, considering the amount of food they toss at you could feed a small army. We left stuffed, five pounds heavier, and thoroughly educated on the finer points of silicone implants. A good time was had by all.

Oh my, the guy that said he didn't like the decor should not go back! The food and service is awesome!! My Ribeye was the best I ever had!! I am from DC and the $50 steak I had last week in DC wasn't as good as the ribeye i had last night. Daisy Mae see you tomorrow before I go back to DC!!

When I went to the U of A I drove by this place every day on my way to school. I never ate there because as a college student I figured that a steak house would be out of my budget. Anyway, I was in Tucson this past weekend to catch the U of A vs Stanford game (which was amazing and came down to the last play. Go Cats!). I drove by Daisy Mae's and thought I havent ever been there and figured it would be a great idea to try it! What would be better than a nice steak dinner after watching the Wildcats defeat the Cardinal? I was pretty turned off from the moment I entered the restaurant. It is so horribly decorated inside. The chairs look like they are 15 year old chairs that were used for an auditorium conference. The tables were a hodgepodge of different types with a tacky cowboy textile sealed beneath a plastic cover. some looked like a folding table that you would use for the kids table at Thanksgiving. The walls have a bulletin board material all around (not cork but similar) them with dollar bills stapled on them all over. Im not sure who would spent an extra dollar at this place and what the dollar is for but it makes this place sooo tacky. As for the food, it actually wasnt that bad but they served the steak on plastic plates and the salad came in a wooden bowl! Who does that? The combination of decor and how the food was served made eating here a horrible experience. I will never eat at Daisy Mae's again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

Tonight we took house guests to the Daisy's, which we always do with people out of town. And, as usual, they loved the food and the history of this wonderful Tucson treasure.

Best steak in Tucson! Totally a taste of Tucson! This is a haunted restaurant that used to be many things such as a historic fort, a brothel, and an inn. Now it is an awesome steakhouse with a down home feel. There are numerous dollar bills decorating the walls with notes from loving customers from all over the world. The decor is not fancy, but is sure is clean, and man when the food comes it is in generous portions, and sticks to the ribs.

Let me tell you...this place is awesome. They cook their meat outside on a open fire pit using ONLY mesquite wood. Let me tell you, it makes all the difference in your steak. Also, whenever you order a meal, it comes with bread, baked potato and beans. Their bread is just normal white bread with a sludge of buttery goodness, but request it to be cooked over the grill, trust me it makes it soo much better. Get their wings as well! So good!!!! Its not fried like any another joint (Wingstop) and again its cooked over a fire pit using that mesquite. They do not have draft beers, but they do have countless variety of beers that makes other restaurant jealous. If you had to come here once, get the rib eye. For the people that don't know meat. Rib eye is choice meat because of its fat to meat ratio. Rib eye comes from the rib section which is more tender and fattier (the meat is said to be "marbled") than most other cuts of beef. This extra fat makes rib eye steaks and roasts especially tender and flavorsome, and well suited to dry heat cookery. Whenever I come here just to eat, i get their wings and Porterhouse! I use to work here and boy it was fun! Plenty of time for long "stretches"!!!

I'm visiting Tucson during the busy Gem Show in Jan/Feb. After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I talked my wife into a trip to Daisy Mae's over the steak house we usually visit while we are in town. Driving to the location I was worried what the food wasn't good, what if they were closed on Sunday night. It isn't located right along the highway, and others have already commented on plastic plates and the decor. I made my case and she agreed to drive out and "take a look at the joint". As we drove up to the place my fears subsided. The parking lot was close to full at 7:30 on Sunday night. It was very busy inside, but we were seated quickly. After eating our dinner, we give Daisies a strong recommendation. We eat out often in our business travels and this place is a great find. We try to visit unique, local owned businesses that offer good food and great service without giving us sticker shock.. The staff was friendly and took good care of us as well as all the other tables in the place. It was busy the whole time we were there, but it was not packed with anyone waiting to sit. The warmth from the smoldering fireplace set the tone and things got better as the meal progressed. The steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection. We took half the food back to the hotel as the rib eye was a big meal. The beans get a thumbs up too. I usually pass on beans, but a little taste made me want to eat them all. My tea never went empty and my wife was very happy with the better than average selection of bottled beers that are not from the giant commercial breweries. As we left, my wife mumbled that the ribs looked really good too! That means we're going back later in the week to try the ribs. We're looking forward to another visit while we are here. Great steak, great atmosphere. I spent a significant amount of time travelling for work to Tucson, staying at the JW Marriott Starr Pass. I made sure to hit up Daisy Mae's at least once a week to not pay for a restaurant hotel dinner and oh my goodness was it amazing. As a staunch New York Strippist (not to be confused with New York Stripper), Daisy Mae's successfully converted me to make ribeyes my go-to steak.

I was in Tucson on a business trip and went to Daisy Mae's last night. This is not a fancy place where you dress up and go out on the town. It's a very casual and fun environment. If you are ever in Tucson, Arizona give this place a try. The ribs, bbq sauce and ambience are worth the trip. You'll drive into the middle of nowhere on a country desert road and then you'll find Daisy Mae's. The first thing I saw was the huge bbq pit in the front smoking and cooking up the ribs, steaks, tri tip and chicken. Walking into the place is an experience in itself. It's been decorated with $1 bills stapled to the wall with messages written on them from the patrons that have been there. I learned later that these dollars bills have been collected in the past and have went to several charities. I sat at the bar and ordered a Racer 5 IPA (which is one of my favorites). I ordered the half rack of ribs which came with a blue cheese salad, beans, fully loaded baked potato and texas toast. The salad came first and it was served in a small plastic (fake wood) bowl. It wasn't anything special just lettuce with a one raw red onion ring, a small petite tomato with blue cheese dumped on top. I ordered an Odell IPA beer next which was a full bodied creamery IPA. It was good but Racer 5 is still my fav right now. The ribs and the sides came out steaming hot on a brown plastic oval shaped dinner plate. I hardly would touch the bone and the meat would fall off. The combination of the smoky flavor, the tenderness and the spicy bbq sauce was excellent. The house made bbq sauce was excellent with a bit of a bite to it. If they sold it in a bottle I would have bought some. The baked potato was average with the condiments served in a small brown plastic side dish. The beans came in a small brown plastic bowl and I ate every single bean. They were piping hot and had a spicy kick to them. The texas toast was thick white bread that was toasted probably on the bbq pit. The beans and toast were all you can eat but I only ate the ones that were served. I gave this place a 4 because I liked the ribs, the spicy bbq sauce, the selection of IPA beers, the laid back setting, and the great decor.

Had the prime rib for $23 and it was delicious. The decor is a run down roadhouse theme with dollar bills stapled to the wall, glass covered tables and plastic salad plates. If you can go with a sense of humor and not expecting too much, except Budweiser and decent food, you will enjoy yourself.

Best ribeye steak I've ever had! 14oz is BIG and can easily be shared by two people. I will be back if I'm ever in Tucson again.

I do not know if all of the people with rave reviews about this place have never been outside of Tucson or not but I was not impressed at all. First the decor: wow, a drawback in time to 1970's. 25+ yr old furniture, dingy floors and bad lighting are just the beginning. There are also dollar bills that aprons write on and staple to the walls (i read on yelp they donate it once a year so that is cool). Salad is served in old wooden plates and your main entree is served on a plate that is reminiscent of elementary school. A little class is needed, I mean come on plastic? I was there on a Tuesday so it was a light night. The valet at the JW Marriott recommended it to me since their crappy signature was busy as hell. I ordered the riveted, and right on their menu it says this is the meal to order if you want a good meal at daisy maes. Not too mention all of the reviews talking about how this was the best steak/ribeye you had ever had. My question to you all is: what are you comparing this too? Tucson restaurants or national steakhouses? Because if you've ever been to Nebraska or even Iowa and Minneapolis you'd know that daisy maes is mediocre. Salad is average, hey its a salad and its iceberg lettuce in a wooden bowl! Meal came with three sides: Texas toast (which is really one piece of actual bread toasted with butter and some garlic which I can make at my house), beans (didntget to.really eat them in this puny bowl they give you because mine had thorns in it, yes thorns!), and a baked potato which I make better at my house. I let the bartender, who I assume was the.manager know about the thorns inthe beans and he comped my meal which was the right thing to do. Thorns in beans? Who would have thought you'd bite into some good looking beans only to be greeted with a Sharp pain in your cheek and a hard bite? So a free meal which was a.mediocre meal at nest is what my experience at daisy maes was. Is really like to know where all you people who rave about it have eaten? Definitely not even close to the best steak. Try Mannys in Minneapolis or 819 in Des Moines, IA then come back and rate daisy maes. Lastly, the girls who work there need to get some personalities because they were bland and monotone.

If not for Yelp, I'd never know about this place! If you want fine fare or an extensive menu, look elsewhere, but Daisy Mae's has got you covered if all you want is a great steak. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about (definite dive bar vibe), but you'll be too focused on your plate to notice. Quite a gem, especially for the neighborhood.

This has among the best steak in Tucson. If it's your first time, the Ribeye is absolutely amazing. The beans and the bread are meant to be eaten together. Spoon them up and be glad they're unlimited. The Salad/Baked potato are mediocre, but that's not what you go here for. Definitely worth the drive from any side of town. I take friends here anytime they're in town and they always want to come back.

Went tonight with my partner- the restaurant was 1/3 filled and I had a 6 PM reservation (definately NOT needed.) My partner ordered the FAMOUS rib eye steak. I ordered the 32 oz porterhouse as per the waitresses recommendation. 25 minutes later she brought the less than poor iceberg salad with 3 slices of toast bread. We gobbled this up since we were hungry. 10 minutes later she showed up with a bowl of canned baked beans. 10 minutes later our steaks were delivered (by now the beans were cold.) My companions ribeye was loaded with fat- when told this to the manager, she said that ribeyes tend to be this way and our waitress should have told us this. My steak, ordered medium rare was raw. I sent it back and she suggested that I dine on my baked potato. I prefer eating my patato with my main course! My steak arrived 10 minutes later and was raw again! She offered to recook it (or microwave it,) but I had enough. The bread was never refilled. I asked to see the manager since there is DEFINATELY a problem with this joint. She took $10.- off of our bill (should have compted my meal.) WHAT A NIGHTMARE. The restaurant is old and worn- definately a tired old dump which needs to be gutted! In an economy like we are having, a business needs to satisfy their customers to remain in business. This place did NOT. I highly would not recommend this dump to my worst enemy. STAY AWAY!!!!!

Ribeye steak=excellent, juicy and medium rare like I asked Beans=good, a little "al dente" with bacon and pepper flavor Salad=ok (eh, it's a salad) Baked potato=excellent Bread=tasty, lightly toasted and lots of butter I was quite satiated after this meal. This is a great place for steak and ribs. So good in fact, I ate the entire 14 oz. of steak. Then again that might have to do with the fact that I had nothing else to eat for the entire day. Yay for post-Halloween party hangovers! Whatever the case, I highly recommend this place. It's never ridiculously busy (like Pinnacle Peak and places like that) and the service is pretty good. How are people vegetarian? Seriously....I'll eat twice the steak to make up for the meat they aren't consuming.

Best old school steak in town. The only question is what cut of what animal. The everyday steak special is the thing to have, but the filet, pork chops, ribs, and 32 oz porterhouse are all fantastic. Everything gets served with beans, bread, salad, all are good but mostly secondary to the slab of meat you'll focus on. The only thing to avoid would be the chicken, its not bad but you can do so much better. Occasional fish specials vary, the halibut has been excellent but seems out of place in this very western place. Its not western because it's trying hard to be, like some comparable Tucson steakhouses, it's western because it can't do it any other way.

I love the look of this place! Dollar bills decorated with exclamations of love coat the walls everywhere. It is very western looking and very retro but in a cool way. I thought that it was cool that the steaks were grilled outside. We ordered the porterhouse steak( which has the t-bone and filet) to split. It was around $30.00. There is a $4.95 split charge which allows you to get an extra salad and baked potato-which is served with butter, sour cream and chives. The salad was iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and 1 cucumber slice. Their house dressing was ranch. My fiance enjoyed the ranch. I had the blue cheese, which was a little watery or lacking on flavor. He asked for my onions and tomoatoes on his salad, but I think they forgot. We ordered our steak to be cooked medium-which it was. They even marked the filet side, but it was obivious. The steak was tender, not cut with a fork tender as some described. It lacked a good char. The baked potato was wrapped in foil and very plain. They did not salt the skin. You cut it yourself and add your butter, sour cream, chives (which were actually scallions). The beans were great! I loved the pinto beans with green chilis. The green chilis made it very unique and tasty. It was all you can eat. They also gave us two pieces of Texas toast -all you can eat. Sadly, though, our waitress never asked us if we wanted more-which we both did. She was also slow on our refills. The noise level is extremely high here. It was hard to have a conversation. Do not bring a person with hearing difficulties. I have had better, but I have had worse. I much prefer the look of the place, than the actual food. Our hotel had dollar off coupons, which my man thought was silly, but hey every dollar saved is a dollar I can use on more nail polish or dresses-jk!

In town for my niece's graduation from U of A. Did a Mother's Day dinner here and I'm glad we did a nice brunch elsewhere earlier. My sister had eaten at the one in Sierra Vista and had liked it so we went to this one on their recommendation. It is casual steak and potatoes, but the place has seen better days. The steaks were decent and my niece has the Catch of the Day halibut and liked it. Not many options for a vegetarian, but I guess it IS a steakhouse. The bathrooms were substandard and our waitress very uninterested. The best part was customizing dollar bills to be stapled on the wall! We won't be back.

Not going to lie. My husband has more than once, fantasized about friending the grill guy in the hopes that we can "invite" him to a BBQ at our house one day. And of course he'd invite him early. Here's why- this place does meat right!! Very, absolutely, tender, delicious right. And did I mention that I'm not really a "meat person"? Well unless it's "don't bother to pick up the ribs cause they'll fall apart anyways" ribs. Or crispy skinned, moist inside chicken. Or grilled, slightly spicy chicken wings. Hmm...maybe I am a "meat person" after all? Or at least I am when I'm eating here? Don't come for gourmet, delicious sides. It's not one of those places (although, I do admit to asking for more "Lucky Wishbone-ish" toast to sop up the spicy pinto beans on occasion). This far west side local restaurant offers a full bar, no frills decor (decorate a dollar bill and stick it to the wall and eventually it'll get donated to a great cause) and friendly atmosphere. Any ideas on making my husband's fantasy come true can drop me a message. Much appreciated.

There's just not a better place for a good priced steak or ribs in Tucson, PERIOD. These guys know their meat, it's perfect every time including the wings which are awesome. Order the ribs or ask for a half rack and a ribeye and go all out. You'll thank me, then thank Daisy Mae's!

We took friends here for our first-time visit for they love steaks. I first heard about it on "TUCSON TREASURES." The meal began with a nice garden salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The toast was thick white bread with liquid butter on it. (I think it would add a lot to the meal if they served ciabatta bread with garlic-butter.) All our dishes came with a baked potato with chives, butter, and sour cream. Our friends said the ribeye was delicious. I had the salmon and it was perfectly done with that smokey mesquite taste. 5 stars for that. The decor is western and the seating is nothing fancy. You can watch the chef grilling up the food through a big window in the dining area. I was somewhat surprised by the small menu selection. If you're a veggie person, you can get halibut or salmon and that's about it. If you're a steak person, you'll be in heaven. Prices were high compared to other places we eat at around town. They offer a way to split your meal with someone for only $4.95 extra. That's a good deal. Our friends said they would come back but I think given the small veggie choices, it'll be a while before we return....with more friends who love steaks.

Poor quality porterhouse steak, not very well cooked either. L'il Abner's up north is a little more expensive, but worth it. But I'm getting tired of steak joints anyway. I can make much better steaks at a small fraction of the cost, and all I need is a skillet. What's with all the dollar bills on the walls with stoopid things written on them here? Isn't it some kind of federal crime or something to deface currency? Maybe they can assign some of their Homeland Security airport goons to bust up this joint instead of strip searching 99 year old people in wheel chairs and little babies at the airports for a change. Oh never mind. I don't want to give the &@%$#'s any more ideas. Pros: The old time country music.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Tucson. Their steaks and ribs are among the best in the city. Their craft beer selection is always impressive. BUT their wings...oh ma god...their wings are the reason to go back repeatedly. Go here and spend all of your money.

I read all the positive reviews and decided to drop by recently to escape the Marriott Resort that's just up the road a bit. I love the faux dive bar shtick as much as anyone...but maybe this place has run it's course. The space itself is okay in a roadhouse meets Pizza Uno way. The menu is very limited, with meat as the star. They are not shy about their pricing structure... I tried the fillet (at $30) with baked potato and salad. The fillet was good with a nicely charred crust...it just wasn't great. The potato was done very well. The iceberg salad arrived in it's Walmart sourced bamboo bowl literally swimming in salad dressing...a sloppy mess. Overall, it was just barely okay for me. The service wasn't that great and with a few drinks and tip it came in at around $50.

I'd say this is between a 3-4 star. It apologetically delivers on what you think you'd get. It's a slab of meet cooked over charcoal outside. The steak was ok, nothing too special, but what were really nice surprises and quite good are the wings (which were also grilled outside) and the baked beans. Not the best steak you'll ever have, but i'd definitely go back.

Wow!!! Such a small menu, but the ribs are AMAZING!!! I went to Daisy's for a birthday and the food was great. I had a baked potato and a salad, I am not much of a steak person. My boyfriend got the ribs and I had the pleasure to try them. They were falling off the bone, tender, and marinated just right. The BBQ sauce they give you was delicious as well. Definitely did not have a vinegary taste or too sweet. I cannot wait to go again. The dollars stapled on the wall reminded me of Pinnacle Peak with their ties, but this place is unique and intimate. *hint *hint babe :)

We were FOOLED and seduced by all the great reviews this place has. Perhaps these people love the "gutted out" decor with the haphazard dollars stapled on the walls like wallpaper and the chipped, cafeteria-style tan plastic plates but I was truly NOT cozy by any means. Some radio station played in the dinning room that at that moment had some creepy 20s or 30s music which encouraged us to try the sports bar. At least the tv wasn't loud but the "ambiance" was just as bad. We should have listened to our gut but we had gone way out of our way to try this so-called legendary steakhouse and we were going to see if the food really was the ONLY attraction. I ordered what I normally get - the fillet, despite the fact that it was a third more the cost of what we normally pay. When the food arrived, salad first, the salad was old and there was a huge piece of lettuce that had already started to rot and break away in the center of a big, slimy brown spot. The stake arrived and it came with buttered Texas toast and a potato and all-you-can-eat beans which definitely needed seasoning but otherwise were decent. The potato was perfectly cooked and sweet, flavorful with plenty of butter and sour cream if you wanted it. THAT was the best thing we had that day. The meat. My steak was ok. DEFINITELY NOT worth the extra money by any means despite it's "cooked on an outdoor grill" reputation. It was cooked medium-rare as ordered but the anticipated crispy outside smokey layer from the grill was just crusty and dry instead of extra tasty. NOT living up to the hype or even close to deserving the adoration we'd heard from other reviewers -- even well known local critics. PERHAPS, and I don't even know WHY I'm bothering to try to give this restaurant ANY benefit of the doubt, but PERHAPS the ribs are the secret jewel at this place. I don't know. I'm ever so slightly curious about that since I do love good ribs but this entire experience left me so disappointed it's very unlikely I will make it back to give the ribs a shot. Sad really.

If youre looking for a great steak with out the stuffiness of a upscale steak house, then Daisy Mae's is your place. My friends and I have been coming here for years. Most recently a few weeks ago for a belated birthday dinner. I ordered the 32oz Porterhouse and was not disappointed. Man, it was massive!!! I barely finished the filet side before I got full. It was tender and prepared perfectly, which I must say Im very impressed by for such a thick steak. Great food, great atmosphere, very laid back. If you havent ever dined here, I highly recommend you check it out!!!

In the past, while in Tucson, I stopped one evening to try this place out. Decor is nice but I rate restaurants by food and by service and this place gets 5 stars in both catagories. I ordered the "Cowboy" steak and it was done perfectly, and tasted like a steak should. Better than the "premiere" steak houses and at much more reasonable price. Our server was "Dead-eye Daisy" which I'm sure was not her real name but she knew her job well. Lots of nostalgia on the walls, but the service was so fast I didn't get a chance to check it all out. In the future I will make a point of visiting this place when in Tucson. My wife and I agree - excellent!

Ehhhhh Food takes quite a while, and then.....it's just food, nothin great. The decorations are very tired at both this and the Sierra Vista location. I won't return, and I'm pretty sure they won't notice, either.

It was Divine providence that we would dine here. I had spent most of the week trying to name the truck I borrowed from my Father while visiting town. My friend suggested 'Daisy' while we toured Tucson and the name eventually stuck. (We liked to say that we were driving Ms. Daisy.) We were trying to determine where to eat when we found online a steakhouse named Daisy Mae's. The coincidence was too good to pass up and so we came. Before we even got out of Daisy the truck, we knew we were in for a treat. While we pulled into their parking lot the smell of deliciousness filled the cab. Upon our entry we were greeted by the owner who made his recommendations for what to have that night. He really cared that even tho we were just visiting Tucson, he wanted us to have a great experience. My friends ordered the fillet and I ordered a rack of ribs. My ribs were beyond anything I had expected. They were falling off the bone but not overdone. Juicy and delicious and it came with a smokey BBQ sauce to dip in. My friends raved about their fillets as they were perfectly medium-rare and looked succulent. I never got to the potato as there was so much meat and other sides to contend with. The Texas toast was buttery and when you added a pinch of salt to 'em became irresistible. Even tho we closed the joint down the staff was still friendly and accommodating with our odd requests. They sold us an entire pie for $12, gave me fresh sour cream, butter, and chives to go with my baked potato that I was taking home (an Irishman never lets a potato go to waste) and as we left the owner still made time to talk to us. He told us stories about Randy Johnson and other baseball players, Tom Sellick, and about their other location. The owner is a totally solid dude and it was a privilege to meet such a nice guy. My parents are going to wonder why I visit Tucson more often. Thanks Daisy Mae's!

AWESOME RIBS AND FILET! Dan is a fantastic host. Leave a dollar bill in a conspicuous place as a return reminder. Ribeye is great too. Went with friends 2 nights in a row. GREAT BARGAIN! Try the prickly pear margarita. Super one made by Crystal.

Is it bad that I drove from Phoenix to Tuscon just to have a steak? Daisy Mae you didn't disappoint yet again everything was delicious and I will see you soon! Pat T needs to stop how is 40. with tax and tip pricey for a steak you had wine too! So if you tipped appropriately your actual meal came to about 33.00 with tax. 30.00 for a great steak, salad, baked potato and a glass of wine. Plus unlimited Texas garlic toast and beans (that you declined) Is a great price! Usually a steak like that Ala carte would run 25 to 30 in an average steakhouse.

Although the service is pretty slow (this is understandable since the place is usually packed), the food is delicious! The first time we went I had the pulled pork and it was fantastic - moist and not over cooked. I would have to say that I'd definitely come back again!

Best steak I have had since leaving Florida in early January. Don't know what expectations the pundits have but the T Bone that I ordered came out perfect. Tender, flavorful, well seasoned and medium rare. The place was very busy ...possibly due to gem show, but service was efficient. Would have liked beer on tap but the bottle selection is extensive. Give it a go...you won't be disapointed.

I'm glad I read the Yelp reviews... We are new in Tucson and this was a GREAT find. We WILL be back. I told them we found them on Yelp and they hadn't heard of it. Hey, if you're listening now, get a Yelp sign for your window and spread the word! There must be 20,000 Iphones at ASU alone. -------------------------- Okay we went back 2 days after I drafted this review, and had the ribs... Best ever ribs... Anywhere just amazing, served w sauce on the side they fall off the bone and I've never had better. Never got around to finishing the 2nd review online so went a third time and consistently good food and service.

Excuse me...Crazy question, but can I get a 9 oz filet with a salad, beans, baked potato, and bread as one meal? Yes? Really?? Ok i'll take 4 orders. Oh and can you please add the Homemade Apple pie to my order? Thanks a bunch. Oh you're gonna cook it outside on a pit grill? Can I watch? Do you have a bucket to catch drool in? Super. Your 14 oz Rib-Eye is good? The BEST in Tucson you say, World Famous? Whoa. Ok i'll take an order of that. Ok now that I have 100 oz of meat and stretch pants on im gonna go home and eat. Can I have a bib? Ok thanks!

For being such a landmark, this place needs a facelift. It's too cool to be let go. The building is a very ugly duckling resembling a pink Sonoran version of the Winchester Mystery House-lots of weird add-ons and a sort of patio but not. Hm. But, it is THE place to get one helluva steak. I got a 9 oz. filet and it was incredible. A fist-sized hunka' beef that you could almost cut with a fork alone. Served with a salad, beans and a baked potato, it's more than enough for one person. If you decide to split be ready to plunk down $4 for a split charge. It's worth it though. The music was more like a Woodstock tribute on shuffle this time instead of the cowboy faves of my previous trip. The dining room was full, too. Families, couples & loners all in on the big enigma that is Daisy Mae's.

Our experience was short lived. We waited for fifteen minutes in the dining room. There were other occupied tables (all three) that were receiving service. A couple was seated 10 min after us and was waited on immediately. We were completely ignored the whole time, even after my husband pushed an empty chair into the aisle, when the wait staff cumulatively passed us ~25 times or more. As we left, the hostess had the audacity of saying thank you and acted surprised when we pointed out that no one had ever approached us.

Daisy Mae knows her meat! But don't look for more. Maybe it's a bit like walking and chewing gum. Some can do it. Some can't. Daisy Mae can't. Her single mindedness is apparent when you open the menu. Variety doesn't live here. It doesn't even visit. The signature rib-eye was very tasty. The kind of steak where you savor each piece. You even sneak each piece of fat... because you know it's not politically correct to eat it... but you love it anyway. The largest part of Daisy Mae's success is her meat selection. (Minds out of the gutter folks) Good meat doesn't need much help to be good. There is no overt seasoning taste here... just naked meat flavor (you went there didn't you!) Daisy Mae also cooked all of our steaks to exactly how we ordered them. Yep, Daisy Mae knows her meat. I'm not saying the rest of the meal was bad. It just seems more of an after thought. The baked potato was cooked completely and served with traditional butter and sour cream. The salad was iceberg and chunked a bit large. Dressings are the standards only. Beer selection includes my new favorite of Monkey Shine, a local beer. Tequila selection is a bit amiss and sporadic. Pricing seems fair. The building is historic dating back to the 1800s. Today it looks like a saloon with trailer trash furniture. It was a post office, stage coach stop, many restaurants and bars etc... and a brothel at one time!!! The rooms are still there, so they say. I wasn't in the market for "dessert" so I didn't ask! Maybe that explains why Daisy Mae knows her meat so well. Anyway, Daisy Mae is worth the money if you are looking for a traditional steak dinner without innovation.

I think I have found the best horseradish in the whole west. Put that on a steak and you are in heaven. Good eats in a town full of steak houses. I'll be back.

Had the fillet and boy was it delicious. If you love a good steak, this is the place to go. The sides were ok but the steaks made up for it. The staff was friendly and helpful and it was fun to decorate a dollar and hang it on the wall. Zombie defensibility was pretty high in this place. There were lots of nooks, balconys, and other places to ambush shambling foes and a sturdy fence around the establishment could be easily reinforced against impending attack. Overall this place had the full package.

Everyone keeps talking about how good their wood grilled steaks are.open pit, outside, mmmm mmmm! Well, the mint we got here, the back deck was empty and the pits were cold. Does that change how things work? Who knows, but here goes. I loved the inside of the place. The dollar bill chic is one i know well from sawdust joints and dives around the country and i am a fan. The tables are simple with plastic covers over what look like table cloths made from craft store fabric. Rad. We sat in the bar/lounge area. After a quick glance at the menu, we went right for the 'famous' rib eye. Salad was good, steak came quick, medium rare. Cooked well, handed it over with a baked potato on the side. Then here comes the texas toast with garlic butter. Nice one. Alright, here's the thing; everything here is simple and unpretentious. The decor, the menu, the bar, all pretty straight forward. I don't know what i was expecting out of the steak, but honestly, it was not all it was cracked up to be. No seasoning, no flavor imparted from the cooking method. Was it bad? No. It was a well cooked steak that just could have benefitted from just a little bit more attention. Polished it off, and the toast (i don't do beans). It's pretty basic cowboy fare, so if you're used to taking some extra time with steaks of your own over the flame in your backyard, dial down your expectations.

Way overrated. The market rate "special" ribeye was so full of fat. My daughter got the kids rib eye and it was just as bad. When the waitress asked how our food was I said "that's a lot of fat", and she just slinked away. Bread was just thick white bread with butter. Son got a hot dog that looked like the cheapest dog from the grocery store and the water tasted like it came from a hose. We were staying at the nearby Marriott and my wife wanted to eat at one of the restaurants on site, but I insisted we go here because of the great reviews. As Flavor Flav says "don't believe the hype"

My husband and I lived in the boonies of Tucson and would drive past Daisy Mae's every time we would go to (or from) work, the grocery store, etc. Most nights, the smell of the steaks grilling was enough to make me want to stop and eat there. We pulled in on our last night in Tucson, after the movers had picked up our stuff, for one last meal. It's the kind of down home place that makes you feel at home -- there's written dollars all over the walls, and a mix of Mexican / country / western decor. We both had the signature 14oz Angus ribeye, which came with a giant baked potato, a decently sized salad, and unlimited ranchero-style beans and texas toast. The ribeye was excellent - almost better than my parents' (who have a smoker and smoke their own meats). It had a great mouth feel - perfect amount of smokiness, and cooked to perfection. The baked potato, texas toast, and salad were fairly typical - delicious, but nothing worth writing home to. The beans were great - slightly sweet, slightly spicy. All in all, it's a great value for your money, but if you've got two people, you're probably better off splitting the steak and enjoying the sides. It's definitely better than the majority of the other steakhouses in the area that we'd gone to (including national chains like Texas Roadhouse), and if/when we're in Tucson again, we'll definitely hit them up again. I do wish there were more options for sides than carbs, carbs, carbs (though my husband wishes there was rice to go with those beans!).

No frills and kind of divey The aroma is what I first experienced. Yum. Then this kind of divey looking place. But a friendly hostess came right up and offered us the lounge (bar area) or dining area where we could watch our food getting made. Oh yes. Let's watch the BBQ! The chef was outside by a pit working the steaks and ribs. The food? Steaks were perfect. Ribs were fall off the bone delicious. Baked potato done just right. Small crunchy green salad. Deserts: the mud pie was creamy cold delicious and my apple pie was just fine. The coffee is americano style so not too strong but fine. In short I loved it. Service was quick, friendly and helpful. Pretty full bar. Small selection of wines (I wish there were a few more reds). There was a big selection of beer (surprise!). They even had a Hard cider ( love me hard cider). Smith and Forge brand? Tasty stuff. You want fancy? Go away. You don't deserve this gem. We will be back.

If you like mesquite flamed steaks, you can't go wrong. Very casual cowboy kind of place! You can watch them cook your steak while you wait. Good Margaritas as too

We live very close to this restaurant and wish we could call ourselves "regulars". However, every time we go, we have received terrible service on the lounge/bar side for the price we're paying. Slow to receive drinks and refills on those drinks, and too expensive for the taste of food.

This is a bare bones restaurant with great food. If you just want great beef this is the place. The ribeye wAs tender and flavorful. The ribs melted off the bone. Baked potatoes are perfect. Salad is basic. You can staple a dollar to the wall. Once the wall is full all the money goes to charity. Pretty nice. Service was great. This is really a no frills place that knows what they do well. Wine choices are ok. Plenty of beer and liquor choices.

Monday night visit with a toddler and a teenager, and everything was awesome and delicious. First off, hostess was adorable and friendly, and I appreciated being asked "lounge or dining room", we chose dining room so as to not inflict our toddler on adults drinking in the bar area(you're welcome ;). Let's talk about the decor. The place is not "rundown" or "scary" as some reviews would have you believe, and which kept me away for a year. It is a two-story adobe structure with rustic wood accents and a lovely old adobe fireplace in the dining room. Also, a huge picture window to watch your food being prepared on the outdoor mesquite grill(more on this later). Yes, you can decorate a dollar bill and attach it to the wall. Also, if you have an artist in your group, color up a placemat and stick that in a free spot.(Look for an anime character in the dining room by DKJ for an example of my teen's talent) If it had a few more wagon wheels, old movie posters and a larger parking lot you would call it "El Corral". Bonus points because Daisy Mae's has an upstairs and downstairs patio for outdoors dining/drinking. Next, drinks: I appreciate when a local restaurant supports local breweries and my husband's Four Peaks Kiltlifter and my Barrio Brewing Tucson Blonde came out promptly, along with soft drinks and waters for our kids. While we were enjoying our drinks(and because we were the only table on the dining room side) my husband took our 3 year old up to the picture window to watch our chicken wings being grilled. The grillmaster/chef saw them watching and came into the dining room and invited us to walk through the back area to out by the grill. The grill is in front of the restaurant facing Anklam Road, so you can't miss it or the delectable smell. The chef also showed us the woodpile of old, knarled, fragrant mesquite which he stated they buy from Native Americans because they can source from "the res". The back area was very clean and organized, with extra supplies and glasses stacked neatly. What we ordered for a table of 3 plus toddler: a full order of the grilled chicken wings($11), the 14 oz ribeye($26) w/ a $5 split plate charge for an extra baked potato and salad(all entrees come w/potato, salad, and unlimited beans and texas toast), and the full rack of ribs($25). After my first bite of the chicken wings I told my husband "I am never having wings anywhere else!" and I mean it. The smoky, grilled flavor makes these wings untoppable. The salads were cold, fresh, and basic in those love-to-hate bamboo bowls. But I don't come to a steakhouse for salad... THE MEAT...steak seasoned perfectly, yes you can taste the mesquite, juicy with the fat seared perfectly. Ribs falling off the bone, I didn't even use the sauce because the ribs were mesquite smoky, spicy with just the right amount of char. Take a bite of beans to cleanse the palate between meats and they are slightly spicy, cooked with bacon, seasoned to deliciousness. Bread good, potato good, why am I wasting my tongue back to THE MEAT. We ordered ANOTHER full order of the wings to go for late night/next day snacking, we packed up 1/2 our rack of ribs, and the waitstaff was lovely and brought us a 4 piece order of texas toast to go, we also brought along almost a full bowl of beans. Our tab w/ all the food mentioned above and 3 beers was $100 before tip. The service was excellent and the food was better than many pretentious places I've been, and jeans and boots are welcome.

We came to this steakhouse because we had a coupon...so we wanted to use it. Let's start with the negatives: I have to say I was not at all impressed, from the moment we arrived this place looks like an old shack. The ambiance has the feeling of a filthy barn. I do not mind "barn/country style" ambiance but possibly clean when I have to eat in it. This was not; the plastic table coverings were disgustingly greasy and filthy top and bottom. The wall $ decorations well, I guess it's a matter of taste and part of the décor but all the plates and tableware in general was below standard. The bread was absolutely a shame to serve to people. Like when you open a bag of wonder bread and put it in a basket and write on the menu all you can eat bread! The bright side, great selection of beer! But truly a very long well sorted list of good beers. The only problem was that the 19 year old server could not give us any advice on it when we asked. The meat was very very delicious, and that is probably what makes the show run, otherwise I don't know how they could still be in business. The price a little high for 2 beers, "all you can eat" wonder bread, beans, a sad potato and a great piece of T-bone and a top sirloin. I don't think I would go back but I am glad I got to try it.

Group of 8 of us went for drinks and appetizers last night which probably isn't the most ideal situation for our servers. Given that, our servers weren't very attentive and we had to flag them down several times for refills and such. I didn't have a chance to try the ribs or steak, but they have a fantastic beer menu which initially drew me to this restaurant. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to order meat next time and receive a bit better service!

tasty tasty ribs. but yelpers come - on!!!!! i recommended this to my friend with kids. he doesn't see them often. this is the problem with all 4 an 5 stars on yelp - yeah, everything is AWESOME, great..... it's a dive. picture truckers driving up to a rest stop. don't take your kids. sure the dollar bills on the walls are fun but their mom will be yelling at my ear for taking her kids here like we are tight wads. this is a spot for grown ups looking for cheap grub. VERY limited menu. ribs are friggin awesome. rib eye was meh. you all let me down. but the ribs were legit.

Pretty much the best ribs in town. I've had ribs all over and these are my favorite. It's a modest setting. Nothing hi-end or fancy about it. Just the best ribs you can get in Tucson.

I've been to Daisy Mae's twice so far and have had a great experience both times. It has a laid back atmosphere and reminds me of a small-town, country restaurant you would find in the Midwest. The food is outstanding. Both times, I ordered the half rack of ribs. The ribs fall off the bone and the bbq is delicious. I also tried the ribeye off of another's plate. It was perfect--juicy and had a nice mesquite flavor. The meals come with salad, a baked potato, baked beans, and Texas toast. The toast is addicting!! Ranch lovers: the ranch dressing is amazing! I can't wait to go back again!

I'm giving this place a 5 star because the steaks ( especially the ribeye ) are awesome . The waitress tells you that the beans and bread are all you want , but she actually has to come back to the table for you to ask for more . I think the servers could be more attentive . They didn't come back to the table until we were already done eating . The place is very casual and that's great , but some paint and a little remodel of the bathrooms would go a long way . A restaurant bathroom should look clean . Theirs seems nasty like a road side gas staton. I hope this gets back to management , because I really like this place and recommend a lot of my clients there every week .
